It takes place between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Time, started five years ago in San Jose, has become a San Diego tradition. 28 hours straight of us with no interruptions, no commercials, no music, nothing. It's us for 28 straight hours. It's the Mikey Show 28-hour marathon. It's really Christmas Day for P1s. Commercial and music free. It's going to be the biggest one yet. It's going to be the biggest one yet by far. Because P1s, this is the day they look forward to all year long. Us, we dread it. Yeah, we're Santa Claus. We're working through the night. Six friends battling sleep deprivation and inevitably each other. 28 straight hours. No music, no commercials. Just a show for 28 straight. It's an emotionally draining effort to entice new listeners to The Mikey Show.
And best of all, it benefits Children's Hospital. We've never had a 28-hour show that has been this ambitious. What will they do that will crack this time? Wrap yourselves in, P1s. It's going to be huge. Phenomenal. This 28-hour show is going to be epic. I say to all of you P1s, listen, because we do it for you. We're doing this 28-hour marathon for you. It's going to be wicked awesome. We only do this thing once a year, and we're getting ready for it again. I'm telling you, the 28-hour show takes up at least 40% of my daily thoughts. What's going to happen, stamina, staying awake, everything. This 28-hour show is going to be huge.
We go on the air at 6 o'clock in the morning. Without the aid of commercial breaks or music, we stay on the air for 28 straight hours. Let me tell you about this one, P1s. This is going to be the best 28-hour show ever. It's going to be rich and compelling. The biggest one ever. What was one of your favorite moments on a prior 28-hour show? That would be last year when Ashley went against Nolan, I think his name was, Missy's kid. You guys are just awesome, man. I love the whole 28-hour show. My favorite moment from last year was when Sky had to speak Spanish for an hour. I started listening to guys like two years ago during the 28-hour show. Got turned on right away. Haven't stopped listening. Me and my dad, we've been going through rough times, and I got them hooked last year. I appreciate you guys being on the air, because now me and him, we always talk about them like you should. 28 straight hours on the radio? I know that sounds like a lot of fun. And it is. It's also pretty gnarly for us. Parts are routinely broken on the 28-hour show. That is true. That is a pattern. There's times when it's the funnest radio I feel like I've ever done, and then there's times when I'm like, oh, my God, somebody shoot me right in the head. My favorite part of the 28-hour show is the unpredictability. It's the Mikey Show 28-hour marathon and this year's chapter.
begins now. My hands are sweating. My hands are sweating. Test one, two. Sibilance. Unique New York. Lion face, lemon face. The human torch was denied a bank loan. How did I know he was going to kick it off with that? All right, P1s. It begins. The saga begins. Off to a bad start. The what, Ed? What are you doing? Up to a disastrous thing. Stop it. Stop it. Don't do it. I'm telling you. First of all, I've lost my headphones. What are you talking about? I have no idea. I don't know what happened. I mean, my mind is, like, scatterbrained this morning, but I know I brought them in here, and they're just gone. Now, wait a minute. Now, I don't know what your process is. Do you take them home? Do you leave them in the office? No, they're in the office, and every morning, you know, I bring in my laptop, and I bring in my headphones, and I put my headphones down right by my laptop.
And then I start, you know, getting you prepared and all that stuff. And I came back over here, and they're gone. They're gone. I don't know what I did with them. I'm sure I set them down somewhere in not my normal spot, but I cannot find them. And no one knows. You've asked everybody. I've asked everybody. Zest helped me look. I mean, this is crazy. Whose cans are those? Are those those brand new ones that we got? Yeah, the guest ones. Rob better have not stole them to get back at you for. If he did that, if, let me tell you something, if that were the case, if that were the case, if that were the case, if that were the case, if he was getting back at Eddie for the practical joke that we pulled with his cell phone, Eddie, kill him. It'd be a bad decision. It'd be a bad decision. Not today. He's not a criminal anymore. Jeez. And so I'm freaking out. I'm trying to talk to you about all the other stuff that's going on. I have all these other correspondence I'm trying to get done real quick. I'm printing stuff. And in the middle of all this, I get an IM from Sky saying, do you have sports yet? And I'm like, no, Sky, please, no. Not right now. No, not right now. You haven't done sports yet. I have, but I hadn't sent it to her yet. And so I'm just like, I almost flipped out. And I'm like, no, don't flip out on her. I need her. 28 hours. Like, this is bad. Bad start.
Wow. I'm going to take off, you guys. No, we're cool. Here we go. For just a little while. It's going to be great from here on in. I'll come back at about 3. No, Eddie, you can't. Now, for those of you that are listening right now for the first time, because a lot of what happens on the 28-hour show is people that are fans of the Mikey show get you to listen. And so I realize that there are a lot of new ears right now, which I'm thankful for. That's part of the reason we do it. The other reason that we do it. This year is Children's Hospital, the Mikey Show Fund raising money for Children's Hospital, and we'll tell you a lot about that over the next 28 hours. How about that open? Oh, I love it. It was so awesome. I'll tell you what. Chills. Loved it. Yeah, Flounder just, like, the ball is still sailing. He didn't just hit it out of the park. The ball is still sailing. I don't know when it's going to come down. That was incredible. When I heard it, it gave me the chills, made the hair on my arm stand up. It just is incredible. 570-1053. I'm going to introduce everybody on the show, and I'm not going to worry about doing little individual facts about us right now because over the next 28 hours, you're going to get to know us pretty well. There are seven people on the Mikey Show. I'm the host. My name is Mikey. I'm 37 years old. Short, fat, shaved head, Mexican, goatee, very full goatee. Have you guys noticed that? Yeah.
I was noticing that last night. It's a very full goatee. Yes, it is. I like the fuller look, so I'm letting it get pretty full. Don't know how long I'll let that get, but I'm going to, you know. Nice. It's not going to be Willie Nelson or ZZ Top, but it's going to be, you know, Melissa Etheridge at least. Eddie is our producer, our sports guy. He is 34 years old and wearing a pair of unfamiliar headphones. I'm so thrown off right now. It's got to be weird. Sounds different. Well, there's only so many things that could have happened. They have to be here. Jay moved them. There's no doubt in my mind, Jay. Jay says no. Jay, you didn't move them. You did move them. He didn't move them. There's no doubt in my mind you moved them. Jay says didn't move them. Jay moved them. Skye is 29 years old. She is our news girl. Hi. She has worn those type of headphones now for a long time. Yes. By accident. Since the beginning of my career. Since the beginning of her career, I told her to get Eddie's kind of headphones. She went to get them. They weren't available. They weren't on the shelf. The ones that she wears today were. And were probably cheaper. I know for a fact they are. Were they, Sky? I don't know. How much were they? Like around $100. Then they were more. The ones that we wear are $90. You could have got a better. Does any part of that irritate you? Well, the cheaper part irritates me. I'm not convinced that your headphones are better than my headphones. No, they're so much better.
Actually, they're not. Those are actually the better headphones. You wouldn't know. I mean, it's a matter of opinion. I wouldn't know. You wouldn't know. I would know if I tried them all. Look at those ridiculous things you have on your head right now. Don't fight. Not yet, you guys. Palomino. Palomino. We're all friends. Beautiful headphones. Palomino is our safe word. I love your face. We have to be together for 28 straight hours, so we've developed. I don't want to hear that. Safe words. I don't care either. Palomino. It's gorgeous. Sean is in town, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, there he is. Yeah. Gorgeous. Yeah, he is. He's right in front of us. Yeah, he is. Right there. He is our friend. Sean does a thing with the microphone. Sean is not a speak into the microphone guy. I don't like it. The reason is a few things. He has a pretty booming voice, so he doesn't feel that he needs it. But he's also, Sean operates a lot like an engineer. And so.
I think that he feels that acoustically he has it figured out. Is that right, Sean? Well, can't you hear it? Yeah, so that is... I mean, doesn't that say it all? That, to him, is the sound of pristine microphone and user. So, you know, he goes with it the way he goes with it. It adds dimensionality to our show. Exactly. Sean's headphones also are not the type that Eddie and I wear. By the way, the ones that Eddie and I wear, standard in the business. Not just the radio business, but in the broadcast business in general. Absolutely. Sean doesn't wear them. And this is a guy that loves audio. Doesn't wear them. Yeah, I don't wear them because they don't sound great. What are yours? They're a baseline for the industry. That means they're at the bottom. What are you wearing, Sean? What are you wearing? These are the Bose Triport. Which are good for music. They're great for music. They're really good for music. Let me tell you something. Palomino, Palomino, Palomino. Why is Sean coming after Sean? I don't know, but please use it. You're coming after me. Please use Palomino. Don't forget the word Palomino, you guys. We just started. But anyway, I agree with Eddie. They're great for music, but for the human voice, I don't know. But he likes them. He likes them. He says they're good. They're not ridiculous. Sean is 37. They sound fantastic. Sean's 37. He does sound effects for us. Hi.
Ashley's 24. She's our assistant producer. And she sits in another room. We look at her through glass. How are you, Ash? Great. Boston Rob, same situation. He is in yet another studio that we look at through glass. And he is 24 years of age. Before I went on the radio this morning, Eddie informed me that we are going to be talking to his... What do you call her? What do you call it? The gal. Crazy lady? Baby's mama. Oh, Rob's baby's mama? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's not what I call her. Well, yeah, I mean, this took, you want to talk about a convincing job. All day yesterday, trying to talk to him into doing this, and I said, listen, man, you don't bring a lot to the table. This is something that you could finally do for the show that would make P1s salivate. Salivate to know that we're going to have. potentially his baby's mama on the phone. And she's agreed to do it. What we're talking about for the benefit of those that don't know is that our 24-year-old friend, Boston Rob, he also screens phone calls. He had a friend, female friend, lived in San Diego. They were what you call friends with benefits. She now lives back in Boston and informed him three or four weeks ago now. Four weeks ago? Yeah.
That she has his baby. Which Rob vehemently denies. It's not mine. They're in the process of taking a test to find out for sure. I spoke to her yesterday about 5 o'clock East Coast time. And she is an interesting lady. You've met her before. Yes, I have. I mean, that's not like I was friendly or anything with her. I mean, I knew her through Rob. She is... Out there. What does she look like? Crazy. She's a good-looking gal. I mean, she's a good-looking gal. She's about, I'd say, a little taller than Rob, which is about 5'5". Rob, she's taller than you? She's only 5'5"? Well, much taller than you. I'm 5'8 and a quarter. She's not taller than me. You're 5'8 and a quarter is what you're saying. I don't want to talk about any of this. Good-looking gal. But, I mean, she's got some issues. She, when I informed her, well, I'm trying to be kind here, Rob. No. When I informed her that, you know, this is what was going on, we talked about it on the radio, she was all for it. Really? All for coming on the air. But she knows that it's going to blow up in both of our faces, and we're just going to go at it. Can I tell you what I just read that made me laugh?
Well, there's another member of the show, seventh member of the show. His name is Zeth. He's a young man. He's only 22 years old. You rarely hear him on the air. You rarely hear him. Strapping. He just sent me an instant message that said, I wish I knocked a chick up. I could use the exposure. Zeth, how are you? I'm good. How are you? This is your first 28-hour show. Yep. And so you've always heard it as a fan because Zeth was a listener. And he went through this contest we did called The Apprentice. Now he's on the show. And so you've heard it as a fan. You liked it as a fan, right? Right. Now you're on the show. Yep. Strap yourselves in. How many hours did you listen when you were a listener? As many as possible. I mean, I worked, so I would have to go to bed and work and everything. Okay. Let's take some phone calls. 570-1053. Woo! Let's take some phone calls, but I want to go, after we take phone calls, next order of business will be to ask everybody on the show about last night, sleep, how'd we do, what was the process, yada, yada, yada. P1 Brent? Yes. What's up, dude? I was, I know Eddie's getting off to a rough start, so I was hoping I could sing him a little song and cheer him up. All right, go ahead. Love that. It's more of a cover than anything, but here it goes. Glory, glory, in all your glory.
Are you kidding me? Perfect. Are you kidding me? That was great. Perfect. We're 18 minutes in, dude. Eddie's all in. How did he remember that? Hey, Shawnee, where do your sound effects come up? Over here, right? It's not cool, man. It should be on the CD1. CD1. Try it. Nope. Try it. Nope. Nope. I'll come over with it. A P1. Let's get somebody on the line to tell everybody what a P1 is. Scooby. Yo, what's up? What's up, dude? What's up, man? Scooby is a Hall of Famer, man. It's all pumped up. Yeah. Love it. Woo-hoo. Scoops. Hey, dude, that intro pumped me up. Dude, how awesome was that? I'm psyched right now, dude. Let's do this. Scooby, tell everybody what a P1 is. A P1 is a listener of the Mikey Show that when he calls in, or she, that they turn down the radio, do not cuss, get straight to their point.
Turn on other P1s and listen for long periods of time, baby. What's up? That's right. Thank you, dude. We love you, Scoob. We'll see you later today, right? Heck yeah, baby. What's going on? All right, dude. I'm going to go see that dance-off, dude. He's awesome. Love you, brother. Love you. All right, see you. Scooby's a good guy, man. Scooby's a good guy. He is a Hall of Famer. P1 Hydroponics. Yeah, I just want to let you know I made it a full 28 hours last year, and I'm hoping to do the same thing this year, and I'll be down there for the dance-off. And you guys said it's at noon, right? It's at 5 o'clock is the dance-off. Oh, the dance-off, the cook-off at noon. The cook-off is at noon. Between Shauna and I, we're going to see who makes better food. And then at 5 o'clock, Sky and Ashley will dance against each other, see who dances better. Cool, cool. I will see you down there, brother. All right, dude. I can't believe that guy's going to be awake with us. 28 hours. I went through a period of feeling sorry for myself. What's amazing is that when we first did the very first 28-hour show, there was like two people that stayed with us the whole time, and we thought that was incredible. Right. Now I feel like the whole army is with us. Yeah. Which is weird. Well, the risk of sounding gay, it's kind of touching. It's amazing. Yeah. Sorry, Sean. Sean doesn't like amazing as an adjective. Didn't it fit perfectly there, though? I think it's vague.
It's an amazing feeling. Ashley. An ambulance just drove by and stopped and, like, put on their sirens for a couple seconds and then kept driving. I think that's a P-1. Of course it's a P-1. They just were staring at me through my window. Of course it is. With their sirens going. Well, listen to this. P-1 Ghost Rider, are you there? Yeah. What were you calling to say? Hey, I was calling to say we've been tailgating for you guys since 3 o'clock this morning in your parking lot. Oh, my God. That's awesome. Where are these people? That's awesome, dude. Yeah. All 28 hours. Thank you very much. No problem. We got people tailgating at the radio station. Holy crap. Now, I'm telling you, be careful with the tailgating now because there's people coming into work. Yeah. However... Jay, did we have a designated area? Did we end up doing that? Well, they're up front right now. The tailgaters? They're all parked out front. We had talked about doing a designated area for them, but I don't know if that ended up happening or not. Well, if it did, cool. But if not, at 5 is when everybody leaves the radio station, right? Business hours close at 5. So at 5, when the radio station clears out, hey, man, anybody listening wants to stop by and just park out there with your bros and hang out and just listen? That's awesome. There's a lot of them. I've gotten at least 10 e-mails from people wanting to do this.
Yeah, we should do a thing where, like, when we come out of the radio station, when we emerge at 10 a.m., we come out to the thunderous applause. Heroes, back from the war. Leonidas, back from the war! Leonidas didn't make it back. That's kind of how I feel like it's going to happen. Sean, do we know where it comes up? Try CD1 again. Try now. Okay, it's not working either. What's happening? What's going on, Sean? What happened? I don't know. What happened? Let me try your old pot. Nope, that's not working. I wonder what it is. Let me call it engineering. Do you need foo? No, Sean, you don't need no engineering. He'll figure it out. Let me take a couple more calls. He's working that out right now. You can see it in his head. He's working it out. How can you see anything to that thick head of hair he's doing? Shut up. What's up with the hair? You said you were going to shave it. I did, I did. I said I was going to shave it. I ran out of time. Gel. Gel? P1 Mike? A little aqua neck. Gross. Yeah, P1 Mike. What's going on?
Hey, man, I know you guys are going to spend the whole 28 hours together, but you've got to do me a favor and bust guys chops and tell the sunburn story. The sunburn story. So early. The sunburn story. Only 23 minutes in now. The sunburn story. Please, people. Oh, you don't know what he's talking about? Eddie, please, you guys, seriously. I'm telling you, that sounds so familiar to me. I might. We're not starting off this way. I'll give you the starting point, and maybe it'll, like, jog your memory. What, what, what, what? Come on. Back when you guys were. Back when you guys worked together in San Jose. Who? You and that lady right there, Skye. Oh, Skye. When Skye and I worked together. Yeah. Was it Blunder? No, no, no. That gal right there. Skye, Skye. Skye, yeah, yeah, yeah. She came in once to work with a sunburn. Oh, that story. Yeah, yeah, yeah. With the Kaiser and the Iran and the whole time. The pee-pee. Well, I'm sure we'll get to that. The pee-pee. Please, everyone. At some point. At some point. I don't know. P1 matches? Yeah, matches. What's up, dude? Hey, we were in the ambulance. We just wanted to try to find your studio. Right on. Saw you guys. Right on. So you guys make our morning. Every morning we have to work at early shift, and you guys keep us awake. Hey, listen, I don't know if this is too much to ask, but when you have someone that's in serious condition, maybe going through a cardiac arrest like my dad. My dad had a heart attack in July.
If you're ever rushing someone to the hospital, if you could just tell them the Mikey show's on from 6 to 10. Oh, yeah, that's a good P1. You know, that's a good P1. You know, just making sure that you're always making new P1s. Yeah, no problem. You know, that would be awesome. Yeah, they'd be like, I listen to Jagger and Christie. They'd be like, no, don't listen to that crap. Listen to the Mikey show. All right, matches. Thanks, man. Thanks. We'll see you. We're 25 minutes into the 28 hours. This is going to be a breeze, yo. Okay. We're 25 minutes in. 24 hours from now, we'll still be on the radio. We still have, like, three and a half hours to go. I was talking to Kimberly King yesterday, and I told her something that I'm sure she thinks is an exaggeration or not true. She said, when's the toughest time? I said, definitely after the last movie. At 2 a.m., between 2 and 6 a.m. is the hardest time. And I said, and for real, every year between 2 and 6, the thought occurs to me of maybe we don't need to go until 10. You said that on the air last year. And maybe there's a way to get out of this. We can wrap it up at 6. Wrap it up.
That's fine. That's 24 hours. That's 24 hours. Listeners will be cool. It makes more sense. It makes more sense. You know, I go through it every year, and I'll go through it again at 2 o'clock in the morning tomorrow. Yeah. Tomorrow. When we're on the air. Tomorrow. Stupid. When we're on the air. Tomorrow. P1 Leonidas. That's it, guys. How you doing? Good morning. What's up, dude? Hey, I'm so looking forward to the show that went out and bought a $500 stereo last night. Are you serious? Oh, I'm so serious. Put it this way. I got about a dozen friends coming over tonight. We're going to barbecue up some carne asada. We're going to listen to the Mikey Show. I got friends across the country listening that I've been getting emails from all week saying, hey, is the Mikey Show Marathon still on? Is it still going off on Wednesday? They can't wait. I can't wait. I'm looking forward to it. I love the show. I love you guys. That's awesome. I've been listening since day one. That's so cool, dude.
Hey, man, do me a favor, and I don't know if you actually do this, and people hear me say this, but I don't know if they actually put it to use. That's not the right wording, but if they actually do it, and that is tell your friends to listen. Yeah. Get other people to listen to the show. You know, I do that every day. I tell people in the office where I work, stores I go to. It's sometimes a good conversation starter when you go out. That's cool. Hang out with different people. Talk about the show. Other people, you know, you do certain things like, Matt Damon. Matt Damon. Or someone will walk by going, oh, dude, you're a P1. It's like, heck, yeah, I am. That's awesome. Doing through. Nice. But I love the show, and best of luck. I can't wait. I've been looking forward to this for a few days. Thank you, Leonidas. Hey, this is Sparta. Yeah. Sparta. We're waiting to get our sound effects up. Hang on a second. We might have it. Come on, Sean. All right. Shawnee. Try it out. Try two. Ah, there it is. Oh, that was the jam. Is that you? Yeah, that's me. All right, give me Spartans. Get me fired up. I want the Spartans. Come on. Spartans! Oh. Yeah, that's right. Hey, everyone. Yeah, that's what we're saying. Jeff and Jeff! Wait. Lay down your ratings! Oh, wait a second. Lay down your...
Pink lights! Pink lights? That's a little inside, sorry. They're really nice lights. I don't know if you know this, but they do have pink lights. They do. People are going to think, oh, they're making a joke. Of course. No, they have pink lights in their studio. That's to match their skin. All right. P1 Chris. Hey, good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Hey, I have a question for you. I have a portable projection screen TV. Yeah. And a 10-foot by 10-foot screen that I can put behind it. Uh-huh. And I was wondering if I could bring it out to the parking lot and let the P-1s out there watch the movies with you when we tailgate. Are you, well, here's the, you know what? You know what I just thought? Now, you could do that tonight, right? Yeah. Dude, bring Top Gun, bring Footloose, and do it.
I already have it. All right. Oh, dude, that's awesome. I get permission from you, and I'm there. Oh, dude, you're awesome. You're awesome, bro. Thank you, man. Awesome. Not a problem. You guys, good luck and have fun. All right, brother. I'm here with you. We'll see you. Let's reiterate this. Tonight, the movies are Top Gun and Footloose. Eddie, order. Do we know order? How's it going to go? We're going to go Top Gun first. Top Gun first. Oh, wow. Then we're going to get loose. Then we're going to get Footloose. Take off a Sunday show. Thank you. That's Sky. Okay. Shut up. We got it. And her mic's off. And we can still hear her as if the mic was on. Perfect. Perfect clarity. Like, it's so, we can hear it loud. Yeah. Why? In fact, I think it's a little bit louder. It is. Well, what we do is, between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., we watch movies and goof on the movies on the air. It's great. Right. All right, let's do this. Let's discuss. Let's take a break. Then we'll go. No, we can't take a break. But it's that time. 6.30. Bye for a break. Take a break. We'll come back. Let's talk about our nights, how it went down, and all that stuff. Because there's always, I mean, the night before the 28-hour show is always a thing. Are we getting good sleep? Are we getting, my wife bought him those, by the way. The little grape juices. I love your wife, dude. She's so awesome. She gets him the little grape juice bottles. Why is she so annoyed by that?
Well, he thought it was childlike to see a grown man drinking from the little grape juice things. Embarrassing. Anyway. So listen. So last night, I go, I pick up Shawnee. I get Sean at, what time's you flying, 5? 5 o'clock. Okay. So we go to Market Restaurant for dinner, which is pretty amazing food. Sean said he had one of the best meals of his life. Yeah, it was so good. It was really good. It's on Via Del Valle, and the food there is really good. If you're doing, like, an anniversary, you want to go out to nice, then take your lady out to something nice. It's a special occasion place. And Shawnee came in, so I said, let's do this. It was fantastic. And we get home, and I'm monitoring Jake last night because Rebecca takes these, every week takes these parenting classes. And so she gets home. And about 10 o'clock at night, Jake does this thing that he's never done. He won't take a bottle, and he's screaming. He's screaming. In fact, hon, if you're listening, check his body and see if he got bit by anything. But he was screaming at 10 o'clock. She had to take him out of the crib. He wouldn't take the bottle. Who? She had to take him out. Did you hear it, Sean? Uh-uh. Not at 10? You didn't hear that? So she had to take him out of the crib.
And she's, like, walking around with him, bouncing him. And I started singing him, if you're happy and you know it, then say Jake. I always change it to Jake. And he stopped crying for, you know, like two verses in, and then he started crying again. So we don't know what the deal was. And she put him back in the crib. And finally, after a little while, he took the bottle. But he was screaming, man. And I had gone to sleep at 9. Woke up to the screaming, and I'm up, and I'm trying to help. Couldn't get back to sleep for a little while, and then slept straight till about 3.30. So as far as sleep and the 28-hour show goes, I'm feeling about as good as I can. If Jake hadn't done his thing, then it would have been better, but what are you going to do? What was your thing like, Eddie? Well, I didn't want to say anything yesterday, but during the show... I started feeling kind of strange. Like, my face started feeling hot. And I started feeling weird. Like, just weird. And I'm like, I don't know what it is. Like, is it stress? Or am I getting sick? Like, what's going on? And I said, no, I can't. Like, this cannot happen. This cannot absolutely happen. So, as soon as I left here, I went to Rite Aid. And I got airborne. And I got, like, this germ MD thing.
that's supposed to, like, kill anything that's in you or whatever, and a bunch of waters and stuff like that, and took them all. And even though it said you're not supposed to, I took everything. I said, there's no way. I'm not. It's impossible. Right. So I took a little nap. You lit sage in the house. Yeah. I mean, I took a little nap, and then I do my normal routine where, you know, I watch TV, went to bed at 10, got up about 10 minutes early than normal and came in here to get stuff done, but I feel great today. I don't feel sick at all. Sky? Yeah. Who's yours? Just a busy day yesterday with running errands and taking care of stuff and getting together. I was having severe anxiety over what I was going to wear today because I want to be comfortable. I don't want to be too hot. I don't want to be too cold. Getting all my outfits together for the dance-off, trying to find the perfect jommies for tonight. So I took some good time, and then I had to have a little, you know, private time with the hub because I'm not going to see him for a little while. Got it, girl. That was nice. And then, you know. That was uncomfortable. Yeah. Why? It's the truth. I was trying to imagine that you guys just sat and kind of talked to get to know each other. Yeah, we read each other poetry. And then, you know, did, you know, some nice grooming.
I don't know why, but... You did some nice grooming. What the hell is she talking about? Prior to the 28-hour show, I always have to groom thoroughly. I have to do a full-on shave. I got to paint my toenails. I got to pluck my eyebrows. Why? I don't know. I don't know. Just in case something happens with Sean? Yeah, I don't know why. I don't know why. It's just part of my 28-hour show routine. I want to be as clean and as fresh as possible going into this thing. I'm the same way. That's so weird. Because I know tomorrow morning I'm going to feel so nasty. Wow. You mean after dancing at 5 o'clock and not showering. Right. So right now it's as fresh as it gets. Yes. This is as good as it gets. Right now, right here. Real fresh. Take it in. Real fresh. Yeah, real sweet. And then, you know, had a little quick dinner, watched a tiny bit of TV, and then crawled into bed around 8.30. Slept pretty good, but started waking up a little bit before 3 o'clock, waking up about every 10 minutes, looking at my clock. Thinking about it? Yeah, thinking about looking at the clock. Did the alarm go off? Am I late? What's going on? Okay, you can rest for five more minutes. Okay. I don't need Mike fighting yet. Yeah, so that went on from about 3 to 3.30 when I finally got out of bed.
Shawnee, oh boy, is staying with us. And, Sean, what time did you finally fall asleep? I fell asleep at about, I'd say about 10 o'clock, somewhere in there. No, it was after 10. It was like 20 after. Got up about midnight, stared at you for a little while. Sean, I was in my bedroom. Yeah, it's the best place to watch. So, and then I made sure Jake was all right. He was fine. Stared at you for a little while. That's weird. That's not being weird. Oh, that's weird. And then went back to bed. That's great. Ashley, what was your process? I showered and did the same thing that Skye said. I, like, got all kind of just ready, packed everything, made sure everything was good. And then I was in bed by 8.30, asleep by 9. Did you take a nap? Nope. No, no, no. I was busy all day yesterday getting ready for everything. 8.30 to sleep by 9 sounds good. Yeah, it was cool. And, you know, I...
I know it sounds weird, but ever since I stopped drinking, like, I sleep like a baby. Remember how I used to tell you I'd wake up, like, every hour on the hour? And remember I said to you, oh, it's the drinking. And I was like, no, it's not. That's so stupid. It's not. Yeah, well, now, I mean, literally, I'm in bed. I'm asleep within 10 minutes once I hit the pillow. And then I woke up once at, like, 2.50 and kind of had a freak-out attack, and then I slept until 3.45 when I was up. Wow. So I feel great. I'm ready. I feel good. Boston Roberts. Check. This out. Oh, no. Nothing in my life can go normal. Nothing in my life. Poor Rob. Well, no, see, I believe that Rob designs it this way, but he disagrees. Oh, really? He's very self-destructive. Well, I believe, Rob, that you kind of make some choices that things happen. Say your thing. No, no, no, you don't. Hear my story. Comets just happen to fall. Okay, go ahead. Okay, so I'm showered, and I'm packed my bag and everything right around.
8.15, 8.30. So I'm ready to lay down and try to put myself to sleep, which I'm thinking in my head, I know this can't happen. I forget what I'm going to do, but I make one more run out into the living room, and my brother Gabe and his girlfriend are about to leave and go out to dinner or whatever they were going to do and stop, and they were like, you've got to come out and check this out. And I had heard the helicopter going up above with the lights flashing in, and I kept seeing, like, through the windows, like, that's how close it was. Rob commutes from Compton. A lot of people don't realize this. Yeah. So I didn't think nothing of it because I always hear those helicopters going by because we got a canyon back there, so I don't know if they're looking for people or what's going on. Next thing I know, there's eight cops rushing to. I live at kind of like a dead end. It, like, circles off. Right. Eight cops rushed down there. The helicopter's, like, right over my house. I don't, like, I had no idea what was going on, so now I can't sleep. I'm outside. Do you still live in the place that we played poker upstairs? No, no. I live around the corner. In a different neighborhood where it's a little... You don't want to leave that neighborhood because before you lived in that house I'm talking about... I love that neighborhood. You lived in this other house... Yeah, right across the street. ...that was constantly getting broken into the cars up front. So you're still in that neighborhood, kind of. Kind of, yeah, yeah. Roughly.
Doesn't need to be, by the way. This is where he chooses to live. He likes it. There are cops, I mean, everywhere. There's undercovers just with the badges and the guns. They're all running around, going through my neighbor's backyard. Like, all the neighbors now coming out. And, I mean, we got some sketchy neighbors. I hope they're not listening, but they do some sketchy stuff. The helicopter, the ghetto bird's over with the big light flashing everywhere just, like, coming on me. And I'm out there. If you know that the slang for the helicopter is ghetto bird. I've never heard that before. I've never heard that in my life. If you know that, you may be a redneck. Criminal. And I'm thinking because I'm right in the mix. You know, I'm practically on the street, and all I got is my black sweatpants on, no shirts. Of course. I'm thinking maybe I should. Looking all hard. Walk inside a little more because I don't want them to question me or run my number. And you don't look like a criminal with all the tattoos, no shirt on, walking around with black pants. I mean, I'm on probation, too, so I don't know if I got any violations out or anything like that. So I decide to step back into the house a little bit. And then this goes on for over an hour. They finally get the guy, and it was like watching cops live. They drag him outside, they're pulling knives off him, drugs. Holy cow.
What'd he look like? What'd he look like? He was some white, scruffy dude. Shaved head? No. Long hair? Like, starting the mullet. You know what I mean? Like, starting it. Right. Did he have Boston written on his neck? No, he didn't. That was me. Because I saw something on the news. I thought that was... Well, then, after that, I'm like, all right. Finally, I can go inside and kind of go and lay down. So that disturbed you? I'm not going to go to sleep. I was hoping that the dude came through my house. I wouldn't put him under citizen's arrest. Right. He would have been a hero. I take one last peek outside my window, and now the news crews are showing up. Well, of course, I got to go out there and just kind of... And give an interview. Nose around, see if they need any... Any assistance. Yeah. And then finally... He's walking up to random people going, do you know Kimberly King? So then I finally got to pass out a little after 10, but woke up at 2, like I always do. You slept four hours. Yeah. I hope somebody's taking you home tomorrow. Yeah. Good. That's a good idea. How about you, Oates? Zethi and Oates, newest member of the show. Odie Oates. What was your process? I left the station yesterday probably around 4 or 4.30. I had to finish everything up, and then I stopped, ran a couple errands, got home probably around 6, cut my hair, took a shower, and then I was in bed. Cut your hair? Yeah. With the clippers? Yep. Got all.
American History X'd out. I did. Danny Vineyard. If you know the name of the characters in American History X, you might be a redneck. One of my buddy's nicknames. So, Oates, you shaved your head and you went to sleep at what time? I was in bed like 8, 8.30. What time did you fall asleep? Around 9. Good for you. What time did you wake up? 4. You're good to go, bro. You are good to go. That is the best plan right there. If you could sleep from 9 to 4 the day before the 28-hour show, you're good to go. Let's see. Take a couple more phone calls. P1 Tim, you there? Yeah. What's up, man? Hey, Mike. I love your show. Thank you, bro. So awesome. Well, the reason I'm calling is I'm going to tell you guys about my night last night. All right. Past nights for a couple months now. I don't know what the deal is, but I have a crazy psychological cat that lives in my house. So it's my family cat. And what it likes to do is it likes to keep me up all night. We put it outside at night because if we keep it inside, it'll poo and do other things. And no matter where I am in the house, it will go right outside the window. Why wouldn't you put a litter box in the house for the cat to go in the litter box? Because it's got psychological problems. It won't use one. The big problem is my father loves this cat more than me. It talks baby talk to it and treats it like a little baby. I love animals. He's a baby.
Now, you let the cat out at night, right? Well, what are you letting him back in for? Let him back in to eat. I've even tried to feed him outside. Like there a canyon or anything? Why? Just asking questions. Go to rent a coyote. Stop. Yeah, like, I've killed rats for less, you know. Like, it's no longer a pet to me. It's a pest. You're preaching to the choir, bro. I don't know what to tell you. Yeah, I can't. Listen, I got three cats I can't get rid of. The other day, I walked downstairs, and our back door was open. And I got this, like, I got, like, this thing in me, like, oh. Like joy. It's like a gift, you know? Kitty, little kitty. So I close the door, and I go, honey, the door was open. And she says what I know she's going to say. Are the cats all here? So I'm looking around. Hope not. Yeah, I'm looking around. I see Sidney's, the first one I see inside, and I'm like, ah. Great. Yeah, here's Sidney. And then Jules comes meandering around the corner. I go, there's Jules. Is that the tub of lard? No.
Tubalard is Ginger. Okay. Jules is the mentally challenged. Oh, yeah, yeah. Special needs. Special needs. And so I'm thinking, ah, Ginger might be gone. Oh, I love Ginger. And I walk into the living room, and, of course, she's, like, almost, like, curled up with a blanket, you know? And I go, here's Ginger, too. They didn't get out. So we have three cats still. I don't know what to tell you, brother. You know, there's nothing you can do. Ginger kicking back with a turkey leg. Pretty much. A turkey leg. Box of Oreos, even though Oreos don't come in a box. And a Diet Coke because, you know, it doesn't want too many calories. Yeah, right. She's like a Diet Coke. We have a Diet Coke. I was sitting there yesterday, and I sat down next to her, and I pet her, and she, you know, enjoyed the pet a little bit.
And then she started to, like, walk away, and it really irritated me. And I was like, you know, and I said this to her. I go, I go, I don't even like you. And you're going to walk away right now? Dude. Playing hard to get. Like, and I said to her, I go, that's the last time. And she came back. And I pet her more, and I was like, you know what? I'm not kidding you. You do that again, and that's it. How many chances? How many chances? Now, Jules is all right. You know, like, he and I have an understanding with each other. And I like him because he's tough. He's a tough cat. And he means well. Unlike Ginger, who's just obese, like me. Jules is a boy? Jules is a boy. Jules is the black one. I don't know. Yeah, why is it called Jules? Julius Caesar. Sorry, I asked. I am, too. Wow. Julius. Julius Caesar.
Okay. Oh, priceless. That's right. Julius Caesar. Does it have, like, a Caesar haircut or something? Like, why didn't it? No, he wears a toga, though. Oh, okay. He does wear a toga. That makes sense now. And then the other one's just a nut. The other one's just a nut. P1 Palomino is on the line. Are you there, Palomino? We need it. Hey, what's up, guys? What's up, man? Hey, I just wanted to call and let you guys know I love your show. I still plan on listening for the full 28 hours. While I'm on the air, I wanted to thank you for those UFC tickets. That was awesome. Awesome. Did you go up there and enjoy the show? Yes, I did. I took a friend from church. Very nice. Yeah. Very nice, dude. Thank you for the call. No problem. Thank you. Some of the things to expect on the show this morning. We're going to be talking to the host of Kid Nation, the controversial show with a bunch of kids out in the middle of nowhere. We are going to talk to... The girl that says that Rob's baby is hers. Wow. Through some convincing through Eddie. Oh, man. At 9 a.m., we're going to do a foodie challenge where we're going to be blindfolded, have food put in our mouths, and have to try to figure out what it is. That's one of the things I'm most excited about. It's going to be crazy. Eddie. Yeah. Now, we're not going to have anything weird put in there. No, I specifically told Jay that.
We just want to test our pellets. We want to see how good our pellets are. And so this isn't like, you know, where we're going to sneak dog food in our mouths or anything like that. You know, so I gave him some examples. I'm playing, so I don't know what he got. Who's participating? Me, you, and Sky. What? Yeah. Should be good. Oh, wow. Sky, did you know you were going to do that? Did you tell Jay no seafood? No. But I hate seafood. You'll know what it is, though. Yeah. It'll be easy to figure out. You're a winner, Skye. Well, there better be a bucket so I can spit this stuff out. Stop. Maybe you'll enjoy it. Maybe I won't. Maybe this is a way to open your palate. Maybe not. WWE and Survivor cast-off Ashley Mazzaro will be on the show. Oh, right on. Awesome. Who has breast implants. That is correct. Do you think? Oh, awesome. I do think she has breast implants. That's weird. She's been in Playboy. I only say that because it looks like she's wearing a, I don't know, tea cup. Well, just because each breast is bigger than her head, I don't know. A J cup. First time we saw her, my wife goes, that's ridiculous. And she can rest her chin on them. They're so high up. They're big. P1 Hall of Fame Olympics this morning.
Who are the P1 Hall of Famers coming in, Eddie? We have P1 Joe E. Tata. Let me give him his theme song. Who else is coming in? Some may consider him the greatest P1 of all time. P1 Space Boy. The guy is off the hook. He is the Kanye West of P1s in my mind. He's at the top. The guy's at the top. And the third and final P1 is one that I did with some chagrin, but I did it for you guys. P1, paparazzi. What? What, dude? I know. I'm shocked. I'm shocked. Well. No cameras in the studio. Do paparazzi and Joe Itata have a chance at this game? Do they have a chance? I think they do, because this isn't like Mikey Show trivia.
Which Spaceboy, I mean, there's no chance. Yeah, yeah. What the Olympics are are Mikey Show Games to find out who the best gamer is. Yeah, because they'll be playing Tone Deaf Karaoke, Loose Rock Jukebox, and Google Master Challenge. Okay. So whoever does best out of that will be crowned the first ever winner of the P1 Hall of Fame Olympics. Mm-hmm. So we'll do that. We're having that guy, Gary Somers. Oh, yeah. I say Somers because that's how it's spelled, but it's Gary Somers. Yeah. He's a memorabilia expert. He's on that show Roadshow. Yeah, Antique Roadshow. And he also owes Boston Rob money. Are you going to ask him for it, Rob? Yeah, today. I got it today.
I need that cash. I'm serious. Well, years ago... I'm a little short on some money. Years ago, he is a little short, Boston Robbins. He's totally short. I mean, height-wise, I mean... No, what he did was, years ago, in Boston, he worked at this event that Gary Somers... It was like Rick Springfield, Jay Giles, and it was a big Antiques Roadshow up at Suffolk Downs, which is the racetrack. Oh, Suffolk. And Gary put it on. Oh, yeah. And he said he'd pay you $100 for doing the gig. Yeah. And at the end of it, he said, well, I didn't make enough money. I can't pay you. Yeah, so I ain't seen a dime of it. He can Western Union it to me. I don't care. That'd be great. He should. He really should. I think he should, too. Yeah. Western Union. Who does that? He uses Western Union. A lot of people do. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Rob. What do you mean, Dead Beats? Hey, easy, hothead. Whoa. That's not nice. Hey, calm down there. Can you Western Union child support payments? I'm asking. It's a legitimate question. No, it's not. The cook-off is at 12 o'clock between Sean and I. We're going to be doing something for the first time this afternoon, the Mikey Show Newlywed Game. This is where we will pair off and Sean will host the Mikey Show Newlywed Game.
Greetings. It'll be Eddie and Skye as a couple. That's not cool. That is not cool. Wait a second. Wait a second. What is that? I believe that as much as you guys kind of go at it, I do believe that you know each other pretty well. Oh, I know you don't want it. Fine. I know you don't want it. For the show. We're going to kill it, Eddie. You guys know each other really well. What does that mean? It means you're going to do good. Whatever. Me and Ashley are going to be a couple. Now, come on. Wow. That's just ridiculous. No, it's not. Yes. I like being with Mikey. We're very similar. That's right. Yeah, but you're very condescending towards him. But he doesn't mind. That is true. That is true. I don't mind. That is true. I don't mind.
If it's real, I mind. Right. If it's for funsies. For funsies, always. I'm okay. Yeah. And you can tell the difference. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We know each other really well. Okay. Yeah. And then Boston Rob and Zeth will be paired up. Oh, cute. Best couple. In the newlywed game. Gay boys. Cute. So there it is. Sean, I turned some equipment off. Are your sound effects still up? Hillcrap. There we go. Oh, yay. What's up, Rob? So that's just an example of some of the stuff that we're doing at 5 o'clock is the biggie, the dance-off. Everybody's encouraged to come down and watch. Everybody. No, that is cool. Everyone. San Diego, come down. No, it's cool. We got a little stage back there in the back of the radio station. If you're busy, don't rush yourselves. It's going to be great. P1 Fred, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. What's up?
I was just going to say that you should get Dwight to help watch your cat, Dwight, from the office. Take care of that cat, probably. Ends up in the freezer. Listen, he's a farmer. P1 Silent Bob is on the line. Good morning, guys. What's up? I just want to tell y'all I've lived all over the world and all over the country the past five or six years, and y'all are definitely the best radio station. Morning show I've ever seen. That's awesome. I appreciate you saying that, man. It's very nice of you. First day I drove in San Diego, I was hooked. Silent Bob, you've got to turn new P1s on to the show today. Will do. All right, man. All right. Have a good day. We are doing this all for Children's Hospital. We would like to get some new listeners, but we are also trying to raise money for Children's Hospital over the next 28 hours. Jay, do people do this on the website? Jay can speak. Jay's our promotion director, the best promotion director in the country. Thank you, thank you. How can people donate money? They can come by the radio station. We can accept it at the front desk. Or they can go online and starting at, I think it's at 10 o'clock, they can go online and start, they can make donations online. That's pretty awesome. And where to start that? What time, you said? 10 o'clock. 10 o'clock. There's a big reason.
why we're doing this. Mont was the strongest one of all. After open-heart surgery, they literally opened up his chest. To me, that's a miracle. You know, from all those people donating all that money so that all that equipment, you know, that children's house test specially made, that's what counts. Because without that equipment, you know, the blood pressure cuffs, you know, the oxygen masks, the syringes.
You know, all that stuff has to be specially made for our tiny children. That's where it comes from. All you people out there that are donating all that money. Ron's recovery at home was instantaneous. Right when he came home, he was actually able to do whatever he wanted to do. He's been doing all kinds of things that before it was otherwise too strenuous for him to do. He's actually back in school now. He's got a chance to live now, you know, and he's doing it. Who's going to be the first of the seven of us to shed tears when we're hearing these things? Dude, it's so hard to listen to. I'm telling you, man, it's hard to listen to, and at the same time, it motivates you. Oh, definitely. I mean, especially having a kid now, it just makes you realize that it's a big deal, man. They need money, and we're going to help. And so throughout these 28 hours, we're going to be asking you to come down to the radio station at 10 o'clock, go online.
and donate money to this cause. The Mikey Show Fund is raising money for Children's Hospital this year. Broadcasting from the Cricket Wireless Studios. You're listening to 28 Hours of the Mikey Show. On KIOZ, San Diego. The following takes place between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. There's one hour down. That was toast. That's it? Yeah, it was easy. We're done, right? Yeah, it's no big deal. Walk in the park. All of this, by the way, is being filmed for the website. How will it work? Okay, there is somebody. There's somebody. Put the windows up right here. There's somebody. He's in a skeleton mask. That is so funny. Oh, it must be T-Rex. Oh, my gosh, that's me. That's T-Rex. What are you doing, you psycho? He has a scream in my window and started waving at me, making scary faces.
That would have been much funnier at like 2 a.m. Dude, how great would that have been? Come back later. Get a different mask. Oh, my gosh. Look, he painted on his windows. That's great. Crazy, man. This is great. I'm telling you, man, this 28-hour show is weird and unpredictable. You know what? Let's do something. How about we do a little, why don't we do Factor Fiction? You guys want to do some Factor Fiction? This is a fun game that we started doing. And, Seth, you're going to have to help me organize everything because I don't know where everything is. But Factor Fiction is a game that we started doing last week. And, oh, before I do that, let me ask again. We're filming everything for the website. Jay from Promotions is in here filming everything. Jay. When will people be able to look at this? We're going to slowly get it up. We'll get the pictures up pretty quick. Okay. But the video has to go. We have to compress it and put it online. So over the next few days and over the next couple weeks, we'll get it up.
