Mike, Skye, Ashley, Rob, Eddie, Sean, and Budweiser watch Footloose in sync, turning its dated clothes, earnest dancing, and small-town melodrama into a running barrage of pop-culture jokes. In the film, Ren McCormick survives a tractor duel with Chuck, dances out his anger, teaches Willard to dance, and proposes a senior dance to challenge Beaumont's ban. After Chuck attacks Ariel, Ren argues that the real fight is against the town's repression, then tells the council that scripture itself portrays dancing as celebration and worship. Reverend Moore eventually rebukes a book-burning crowd, relents on the dance, and the movie ends with Ren, Ariel, Willard, and Rusty celebrating after one last fight while the hosts struggle toward 2 a.m.

What happened, in order

  1. Footloose setup

Mike and the group introduce Footloose, explain that Ren McCormick has moved to a town where dancing is outlawed, and predict that the movie will be perfect material for their commentary.

  2. Synchronized kickoff

After repeatedly checking that the studio, parking lot, and home audience are ready, the hosts count down together and start the movie.

  3. Tractor chicken

The group ridicules Ren and Chuck's tractor chicken race as an absurdly slow showdown and then cheers when Ren survives it.

  4. Angry warehouse dance

Ren storms off to dance out his frustration in a warehouse while the hosts narrate every leap, jazz hand, and sudden change of scenery as increasingly ridiculous.

  5. The dance proposal

Ren rejects the town's moral panic and realizes that the students should challenge it by organizing a senior dance.

  6. Bridge tragedy

The movie reveals that drunken teenagers died in the Crosby Bridge crash, the event behind Reverend Moore's protectiveness and Beaumont's restrictions.

  7. Teaching Willard

Ren patiently teaches Willard to find the beat through an extended dance-training montage that the group treats as one of the movie's funniest sequences.

  8. Chuck attacks Ariel

Chuck confronts Ariel over Ren and violently hits her, prompting the hosts' darkest jokes and Ren's insistence that his fight is with the whole town rather than one jealous boyfriend.

  9. Council showdown

Ren asks Beaumont's council to abolish the public-dancing ban and argues from scripture that dancing can express celebration and worship.

  10. Book-burning rebuke

Reverend Moore discovers townspeople burning books, denounces their judgment, and finally recognizes how the crusade against corruption has become its own form of harm.

  11. Final fight and dance

Chuck's gang crashes the celebration, Ren and Willard fight them off, and the long-promised dance finally erupts into an exuberant finale that the exhausted hosts gleefully mock.
