The Mikey Show - FM 94.9 - 12/08/10

Wednesday December 8, 2010
LOB is out sick with the flu and ironically Eskimo Bluewaters is also under the weather. John Lennon’s tragic death is remembered on this day thirty years ago as 94/9 pays fitting tribute to his music. Mikey talks up the greatest sandwich shop in San Diego and favorite M1/P1 hangout, Devine Pastabilities. A list of the cool items that will be up for auction during the Mikeython is read. Get your checkbook ready along with friends to chip in if you want to win a chance to wine and dine with the Mikey Show at his house! A new M1 calls in to tell about how he finally came around to liking the Mikey Show and this prompts Mike to talk about his feelings and experiences during his split form Clear Channel. There’s no way Mikey would be where he is today without his current dynamic crew. Dimebag Darrel is also remembered on the anniversary of his tragic murder. WoS gets busy with NBA news and a “Deadskin” is benched without pay for the remainder of the season. News out of LA claims the Chargers will be playing there in 2012 and the gang tosses around the consequences of them moving to la la land. Tightwad Jay won’t even kick in a buck to keep the Chargers in San Diego! Hoyle talks smack about his banjo skills as he squares off against Woods in a banjo battle. The battle rages as the two hicks shred licks that would make Ashley Judd jump for joy! Hoyle name-drops San Diego towns in an attempt to show how cool he is. Mikey recaps his visit to a CVS where he saw a small child with a Mohawk and this garners a big discussion on whether or not it’s appropriate for parents to allow this anarchic hairstyle. Mikey’s friend and guitar teacher Rhianna comes in to play some sweet acoustic Christmas tunes. Dan Aykroyd believes in aliens and the big debate of the day begins as to whether or not UFO’s are terrestrial in origin or from outer space. The Kid isn’t having any talk of nerdy aliens so CBK calls in to inform everyone he was abducted and probed! Even Mike and Woodsy start to argue about military possibilities of UFO’s coupled with Mike’s own eye witness accounts and callers pour in calculating the odds of intelligent life in the universe. Nothing like creepy probe jokes to lighten up the mood! Mikey learns he won’t be going on his trip to Haiti and has a hard time dealing with it. Sienna Sings is next with a whacky caller who claims she’s all about the “G Spot”! Sienna walks all over the doubters while “Walking on the Moon”. Wesley Snipes talks to Larry King about not paying his taxes.

Mikey announced a high-end charity dinner and heard from a former critic who said the show helped turn his life and relationship around, while another caller honored Dimebag Darrell's influence. The cast mixed comedy with argument in a banjo showdown, a parenting debate over children's mohawks, a UFO dispute, and Sienna's unpredictable karaoke game. They also wrestled with serious news: a possible Chargers move to Los Angeles, the story of how John Lennon's death reached the public, and canceled flights that threatened Mikey's Haiti relief trip for the second time. Woods shared that he and Jamie might become parents through adoption, and the crew debated whether Wesley Snipes could reasonably blame advisers for three years of unfiled taxes.
What happened, in order
Dinner with the Mikey Show
Mikey unveiled a charity auction for four listeners to have a Pamplemousse dinner with the cast at either his house or theirs, with the proceeds going to Rady Children's Hospital's Autism Discovery Institute.
A Convert Calls In
A caller who once disliked Mikey said the show helped him become less negative and repair his rocky relationship, prompting Mikey to credit Woods, L.O.B., Sienna, Jay, Will and Cross.
Remembering Dimebag Darrell
The caller marked the anniversary of Dimebag Darrell's killing, explained that the Pantera guitarist inspired him to learn guitar, and recalled Eddie Van Halen placing a guitar in Dimebag's casket.
Could the Chargers Leave?
The cast debated an L.A. Times prediction that Dean Spanos would move the Chargers to Los Angeles, arguing over public stadium funding and whether betrayed San Diego fans could keep supporting the team.
The Banjo-Off
Hoyle and Woods turned a boastful argument about who was more country into a competitive banjo duet, then grudgingly admitted they sounded good together.
The Mohawk Debate
After Mikey saw a nine-year-old with a full mohawk, the cast and callers argued that parents must sometimes say yes to harmless self-expression so that their no carries real weight.
How Lennon’s Death Broke
Mikey replayed the Monday Night Football announcement of John Lennon's murder and explained that an injured ABC employee happened to be in the emergency room and alerted the network.
UFOs or Secret Aircraft?
Dan Aykroyd's UFO story launched a long argument in which Mikey and Woods blamed strange lights on secret military technology while Sienna and Jay remained open to extraterrestrial life.
Haiti Trip in Jeopardy
News that American Airlines had suspended Port-au-Prince flights left Mikey devastated that his Haiti relief trip might be canceled for a second time, while the cast debated whether the setback was a warning or a challen
Sienna Sings
In the karaoke guessing game, Sienna stunned everyone by nailing the Police's Walking on the Moon before stumbling through INXS and Duran Duran songs she did not know.
Woods Is Becoming a Dad
Woods said he and Jamie could become parents in March after a pregnant woman in Colorado chose their adoption profile, aided by Jared's unusually lively brochure design.
Wesley Snipes and Taxes
After hearing Wesley Snipes tell Larry King that trusted advisers caused his failure to file taxes, the cast argued that three unsigned years made it hard for him to avoid personal responsibility.

Pasta's coming now. Oh, that's a rat. They make the greatest, greatest sandwiches. They put spaghetti and meatballs inside of baked bread. Sold. Oh, wow. Sold. And it's a sandwich. And it's fully contained in there. Yep. They're going to be providing us breakfast. Oh, it's so good. And they're doing sampling for the M1s. Oh, that's so great. Sweet. Love that. Thank you to Wiener Schnitzel, Barbecue's Galore, The Palm Restaurant. Randy Jones Sports Grill that makes that awesome barbecue. Randy Jones does some awesome barbecue. We're going to get to talk to Randy, too. He's going to come down. Cool. Want to let you know about some of the auction items. And then at 730, we're going to let you know about a very special auction item. But here's some of the auction items that we have. We have an autographed acoustic guitar from Gary Hoey. We will have an... Autographed poster from Silver Sun Pickups. We will have an autographed Black Holes Flat from Muse. Muse. If you are into Weird Al. Who is it? I am not, but there are people that are, and I'm grateful to Weird Al for donating a poster of white and nerdy. And it's autographed. A Cage the Elephant autographed guitar. Sweet.
with a letter attached to it. How about an Alice in Chains autographed bass guitar? Wow. That's cool. Wow. Maybe I bid. A Pacquiao Margarito autographed boxing glove. Wow. Whoa. I want to get the bass guitar for myself. You can bid. You can bid, man. All of these things will be up for grabs. Maybe if M1 Hawk's listening, he makes it right. My dad. I wonder how much money we'll raise for children. I don't know. I'm not going to wait until 7.30. I'm going to tell you right now about it. Do it. Look at you. I love it. Yeah, I'm calling an audible. I'm going to tell you right now. Here's what we're going to do. We are going to do dinner for four, and it is going to be prepared by Pamplemousse, my favorite restaurant. In fact, Jeffrey himself, the owner of Pamplemousse.
is going to be there because it's not going to happen at his restaurant. It will be dinner for four with the cast of The Mikey Show. Me, Sienna, Woods, L.O.B., and Jay. And you get to choose whether you would like it to be at your house or my house. Sweet. It's totally up to you. We'll go. But it's going to be dinner at... My house, so it's four people, so maybe it's you and your wife, and you get another couple, or you and your girlfriend, or you and your boyfriend, or whatever, and you get another couple together. It'd be four people total, and you come to my house, and you have dinner prepared by Pample Moose at my house, or your house. Maybe you want to do this at your house, and you'd like to do it that way. We can do that. The bidding for that.
We'll start at $1,500. And we're hoping because, you know, Jeff has done these things before. Jeffrey Strauss over at Pample Moose has done these things before. He's never had one go for less than $5,000. Wow. When you do them at the house. Because he did one with LT and it was like way off the boards. But even with, you know, whoever, you know, the person. The least it's ever gone for is $5,000. We're starting this at $1,500. So if you're a big Mikey Show fan and you want to donate money that's going to go to the Rady Children's Hospital Autism Discovery Institute, then this will be, A, a way for you to make a tax-deductible donation, and, B, it'll be a chance for you to hang out with the Mikey Show.
My favorite restaurant in the world. Delicious. It's amazing food. Amazing food. And it'll be at my house. And so, you know, hopefully you get together some friends and you say, hey, let's all go in on this thing. And it would be my dream if you go, if there's four extraordinarily wealthy entrepreneurs that go, how about we put five grand together a piece? And we do $20,000 for this thing. And we go have dinner at Mikey's house, and we hang out with the show, and we have dinner, and it's Pamplemousse, and it's a good night. And here's the other thing. Jeffrey said to mention that the higher the price that we get for the dinner, the better the wine. Now, I don't drink, but here's what I can tell you about Jeff. That dude knows his wine. And I went and met with him yesterday. And I saw an exchange go on. And as soon as this lady left, I go, dude, you should have a reality show. And I mean it. Like, he should have a reality show. I don't think he would have a problem with me telling this story. But a woman came in. I don't know who she is. She has a box in her hand. What's in the box? What's in the box? What's in the box?
And he is from New York and he is sitting at this big table and he goes, what is that? And she goes, it's wine from so-and-so. And he goes, what is it? And she tells him what kind it is. And he goes, what's that for? And she goes, it's to replace the, gives another name of some other wine that he had got from this distributor. And he goes, is he for real? Are you kidding me? Tell him. I want you to tell him that I'm very personally upset. I'm very personally upset with that. And that's not right. And she goes, well, I'm just she goes, I'm just the middleman. And he goes, yeah, I'm not trying to shoot the messenger, but you're the messenger. Tell him this. It's listen. It's as if somebody had took the Maserati in to get fixed. And somebody said, hey, sorry that the Maserati got broken, but don't worry. I'm going to make it up to you with two Volvos.
It's not going to work. Does that, you know, no. And tell, I know what he's doing. Oh, wow. He knows wine. Yeah, he knows his stuff. And so I go, well, why? What's the deal, dude? You know, I was asking him about the wine. He goes, you've got to understand, the blush of 2005 is nothing, nothing compared to a 96, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. You either get it or you don't. Yeah. And I, like, I don't get it. But he said, and I know he'll stand behind it. He said the higher the price goes for this dinner at my house, the nicer the wine will be. It's huge. And so I know he's not messing around. We've had some good wine there before at Pamplenus. I can only imagine what that guy's going to bring. So when will we start all the items up? Will it be just 6 a.m. the day of? Yes. Yeah, at 6 a.m. And we're also using something new called MoGiv. which is really cool, what this thing will do, what MoGiv will do, is it will allow you to text message how much you want to give. And it's so easy that all you have to do is text message the amount, like, let's say you want to give 20 bucks. You just press 20. That's it.
Type in 20. We give you the number. Type in 20. We'll have the thing that you're going to text. So you type that in. I'm texting blah, blah, blah. And you type in the body of the message 20. And done. 2-0. Or 100. 1-0-0. They'll bill your phone. No. No? That is not the way it works. Oh, wow. No. And I'm glad you asked because people need to know. You know how when you text us, you text 949mikey at gmail.com? this is the same concept. You are texting an email address and you can actually, when we start doing it, you can actually write the email address if you want to. And what it does is it will send you back a confirmation thing and you fill it out. Because they have to have a way to get to your, you know, to get your credit card info. Right. And they're not going to bug you. And I talked to Children's and I said, hey, listen, I want to make sure that, M1s are not going to be hit up through the year with stuff like, hey, will you give us more money? And he said, absolutely not. Sweet. Absolutely not. And so, and then Jared, who works our website, he's setting it up on our website where you can go to it, bam, it'll be real easy to be able to give. We're going to do live auctions online.
So you'll be able to go to Mikey show dot com like Mikey show dot com that day for those 28 hours will look completely different because, first of all, you're going to be able to watch us on a webcam. Dan Fields, you know, the photographer Dan Fields that did our billboard pictures and all that stuff. Yeah. Dan Fields is going to come in. He does this amazing thing with photography where he sets up various cameras and the cameras will take a picture every three minutes. And at the end of the 28 hours, he'll take it. and he'll put it into time-lapse photography. Wow. Oh, that's cool. And we'll put it on our website, and you'll see the full 28 hours. Wow. You'll see us falling to pieces. Yeah. How rad is that? My lip falling off. This is going to be the biggest Mikey-thon 28-hour broadcast that has ever been done. Ever. And I'm telling you, they've been big. Oh, they've been big. Oh, they've been big. And there's no changes. I mean, we have switched radio stations, but you can still come down here because it turns into Woodstock. Yeah. I was putting the outline for the Mikey-thon together yesterday, and it's going to be epic. Epic. Epic. I'll give you a hint on one thing that we're going to do. We're going to try to set a Guinness Book of World Records during it. We won't tell you what, but we're going to try to set a Guinness Book of World Records during it. Jesus.
There are so many surprises. In fact, one surprise that we're doing, I and our promotion director, Adam, are the only two guys that know about it, and it will humiliate me. I'm dying to know what it is. I am too. All the way in. I tried to bribe Adam yesterday. He was not going for it. He didn't tell you? No. I'm so glad, because I know you guys are close, and I thought you could get it out of him. No, I can't. Good. He's a rock wall. Good. Woodsy might. He might die. I can't wait. He might die. I can't wait. I don't want to oversell it. Don't oversell it. It's not that cool. I'll tell you, it's not that cool. Yeah, right. Mikey Thon, there is no music. There is no commercials. We are on the air with no breaks for 28 straight hours. What if I have to fart? You leave the room. Really? Yeah, leave my room too. If we have to go to the bathroom, we're allowed to just get up and go. You just go.
You go, I got to go to the bathroom, and you go. There will be so many audibles while we're doing it, while we do the broadcast, all things that I would usually talk about off the air. I have to talk about on the air because we're on the air the whole time. That's so true. The only time that there is lapses is as we go throughout the day, one of the things that we like to do is introduce those new audiences that are listening in other parts of the day. To the Mikey Show. And we'll do that with some of our best material that we've done in the past. And so we'll give little snippets of the best stuff that we've done in the past. But don't think we'll be sleeping during that time because we will not be. They're not that long. Hey, listen, I'll tell you, I have never slept during one of these things. Now, we are awake for 28 straight hours, and you can call us and check in on us to make sure that we are on. And what's great is that people will stay with us. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next day. People will listen to the entire 28-hour broadcast. M1 Lunch from Claremont. Hello. Hi, you're on the air. Sure. A few months ago, you went into Jerome's furniture, and this young lady helped you out. Her name was Tiffany Jones. Yes, sir. That happens to be my girlfriend. Right on. You asked her to your show, and she said no, but that her boyfriend did, which is me. That's cool.
I never was a fan of your show. There's other reasons. Didn't really agree with a lot of things that you did or said. And I know that you're a changed man. And just want to let you know that I am also that person that used to be with everybody. Pretty negative. And a lot of my change, because I've changed completely. And my relationship was pretty rocky with her. And now it's completely changed. Really? Dude, that's rad. And a lot of it has to do with listening to your show now. Because when you went in that day, you asked her if she listened. And she said no. But I started listening since that day. Really? Since that day, you completely have won me over. I listen to your show every single day from now on. Yeah. That's great. Love you. And I got to tell you, I would love to be able to take credit for that. But I got to tell you, man.
I have a group around me that I sometimes I walk in this building in the morning and the doors will open to the building and I'll walk in and I'll think to myself, because a year ago, a year ago, I was so hopelessly, hopelessly devastated when my old crew decided to stay together. And and me separate from them. And they didn't tell me and I didn't know about it. And I was hopelessly devastated by it. Never cried like that. It was one of those things, too, where it took a few days for the cry to come out because I was in shock. But then I think now I fast forward and I go, I cannot believe how blessed I am to work with Woods. and to work with L.O.B., and to work with Sienna, and to work with Jay, and to work with Will, and to work with Cross. I mean, I am so blessed. And the reason that the Mikey Show is as popular and as good as it is is because these guys are just so good. These guys I work with are so good. They're all top freaking notch. Yeah, that's another thing.
I wanted to say, too, the main reason why I'm such a big fan of your show now is because of your crew. I love every single one of you guys. You guys are awesome. Awesome. You keep me laughing all day. But another thing that I wanted to say is that you mentioned this morning about John Lennon. Mm-hmm. Today is also Pantera's guitarist. Is it really? Dime. Is today the day the dime bag? Really? Was that today he got shot? Did not know that. Well, I don't know if it's today the day he got shot, but today is the day that they put his, you know, December 8, 2004. Wow, I didn't know that, man. I cried. I cried when he got shot, man. I was a fan, and he was from the same town as me. And, dude, when my wife came down and told me that, I cried. I was really upset. I bet. And to know that you used to listen to Pantera, Mikey, I don't know if you still do, because of how it's such angry music. I'm going to tell you, man, I never used to be a fan of Pantera. I used to always be a fan of Metallica. And one of my friends... let me borrow a CD and inspired me to go to Guitar Center and pick up a guitar, man. Nice. I've always been into rap music and hip-hop, never liked any type of guitar music or any rock at all. And because of listening to Dime, I learned to play guitar. There's nobody like him, dude. Nobody played like Dime. Nobody. Eddie Van Halen put his guitar in Dime's casket. Eddie Van Halen. Exactly. That's insane. I just wanted to point that out as well. Sweet. And I love you guys' show, man, and keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you so much, man. Thank you, man. Appreciate you. Woods, you're awesome, dude. Thanks, brother. You call made my day. Thank you. Yeah, no doubt. Let's see. That's nuts. M1 Reggie from Santee. Hey, how you doing today? Good. I don't have a lot of money, but I have a game-worn Philip Rivers signed jersey I'd like to donate to the 28-hour show. Oh, wow. Wow. He wore it? Yeah, is it personalized, or is it just his signature with his number? With his number, it was a jersey that he actually wore. It's got a certificate of authenticity and everything for it. Nice, dude. Sweet. That would be incredible. Awesome. Incredible. So nice. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. It would be my pleasure to help out. That's killer. That's the only way I could help out. Dude, let me put you on hold and I'll have Will get your information and we'll contact you and we'll get that and we'll do that. Thank you, man. That's awesome. Thank you. So nice of you. So great.
Still got to tell you about what I saw yesterday. And don't forget, 8 o'clock, Hoyle and Woods have a banjo off. I haven't even seen Hoyle this morning. I know, he's probably practicing. He's practicing, that's so big. We'll hit this stuff coming up next. Hang on. Mikey Show used to start to this song. That's what you said, I love this song. Buddy Guy. Hoyle and Woods will be doing their banjo off at 8 o'clock. And a little after 8... My friend Rihanna will be in the studio, and she's going to do some Christmas songs, get us in the mood, in the Christmas spirit. And the word of the day is Holly. When you hear me say that word between now and ten, caller nine gets a four-pack of tickets to SeaWorld for their big Christmas celebration. That thing's going on at SeaWorld until the 31st. And we'll also throw in one of the new Mikey Show t-shirts, which are awesome. Killer. What do you say?
We do a little bit of this. What's on Sports. What's on Sports is brought to you by our friends at Clearview Eye and Laser Medical Center. You know, one thing I don't give a lot of love to on the Mikey Show sports segment is basketball, NBA basketball. Just not a big fan, but you know what? I thought I'm going to give everybody a sweet little update today. All right. About where we are in the NBA season right now. Because I know there's a lot of Lakers fans around here. The Lakers are playing pretty good basketball, man. They're four up in the Pacific. Question. Yes. Did your friend John Winder mention to you? He did not, actually. This was all me today. Really? I was just in the mood. Just to be like a well-rounded sports guy, I thought. You know, I figured I'd just never do it. I'll do it.
Could be a crackhead. Absolutely. The Utah Jazz got a two-game lead in the Northwest. The Orlando Magic are a game up in the Southeast. The Bulls are a game up in the Central. The Boston Celtics, boo, are four games up in the Atlantic. Freaking Boston. What a great sports town that place is. I know it. Every team is pretty solid. And the Spurs have a half-game lead over the Mavericks. The Lakers did play last night. Now, they were playing the Wizards, who had not, they have not won a game on the road. The Lakers had a really sizable lead. Almost blew that game. This is their sixth man, Shannon Brown, talking about how, you know what? Listen, they won the game. Listen how bummed out this guy sounds. Cut one. Popped before a win, but definitely didn't do the things that we should have to close the game out. We had him down about 14, 15 points, and we should have won about 20, 24 points. He's so bummed. A win is a win, pal. You take it and you move on to the next one. That's what I would think. Also, there was big news yesterday out of Washington. The Redskins have suspended. Albert Hainsworth for the final four games of the season without pay. Strange guy. Strange guy. I've never heard of one guy saying, hey, you guys are being too hard on Albert Hainsworth. This guy is the biggest prima donna in the NFL right now. One of the highest paid players. So he's had just issues from the get-go. When he came to Washington, he doesn't agree with how they're playing him. He says he can be the best in the league if they just let him play the way he wants to.
That doesn't really work, man. You got to kind of do as your coaches tell you to do. It doesn't matter how great you are. They're going to make you better. They really are. So he will not be allowed at Redskins Park for practices or meetings for the rest of the year. He will lose $847,000. Now, he had a $41 million guaranteed contract, so that's really a drop of the bucket for him. Can you imagine $847,000 flying out of your pocket? And you don't care. And you don't care. That's the sad part, too. So he's done for the year. He's not playing anymore. Yesterday, the Yankees and Derek Jeter did a press conference, and Jeter came out and said basically, hey, listen, I'm glad to be a Yankee. Those were some tough weeks there, and he wasn't real happy about how things turned out. He's happy with the final result, but he wasn't happy about the events leading up to it. Cut to. I had never planned on going anywhere. I didn't want to talk to any other teams. I didn't want to hear from any other teams. I told Casey that. So this was a situation where. This is the only team I ever want to play for, contrary to some other reports. That's right. So he will be a Yankee, and hopefully he'll retire at the end of this contract and won't want another one. We won't have to go through this garbage again. But it will be nice to see number two out there in the Yankees lineup. You're just crying about $42 million. Yeah. How do you feel as a Yankee? I think he's overpaid. I made the comment a couple times that, you know, the Yankees are one.
Huge, huge fan. I watch every game on my laptop. But we're one of the only teams, if not the only team, that has to pay somebody for what they've done in the past. And that's a tough thing to do when it comes to sports because he's getting old. He's lost a step. Didn't have a good season last year. And, you know, Derek Cheater's the kind of guy, because of who he is, they won't bat him below third in the order. He'll be one, two, or three in that order. And that's tough because he's a seven- or eight-place hitter now. It's unfortunate, man. You kind of put the team in front of yourself, and he's done that his whole career, and he's been a team guy, 36. So, dude, when he runs out there the first day, I'll be like, yes. You can't imagine anybody else out there. But I've watched him from his first game. And then there's an article that we wanted to talk about this morning that was in the LA Times, and Mike actually has it in front of him. It's pretty gnarly. It's from the L.A. Times. It was in our paper, too, because of how big it is. L.A. columnist says Chargers L.A. bound. Pretty crazy. Says in a column in Tuesday's L.A. Times, T.J. Simers speculates that the San Diego Chargers will call Los Angeles home in 2012. That's two years from now. That's a season away. It says Simers suggests the Chargers will announce the move after February 1st, 2012.
which would give them one more season after this one in San Diego. Again, speculation on the part of this writer, T.J. Simers. I think that what gives it so much levity to me is the fact that the dude writes for the L.A. Times and not like... The Bakersfield reporter. Right. This is lifted directly from his column. Here's how his logic works out in his column. He says... San Diego's last shot and probably its only chance to keep the Chargers' rest on a November 2012 ballot measure that probably will never materialize. City officials and the Chargers would have to agree on the language for such a ballot measure sometime during 2011 and probably no later than early 2012. If they could find common ground, such a measure authorizing the spending of public money on a new stadium would need strong political backing. Most observers believe politicians will not show such support, instead leaving it up to voters. If local politicians don't line up strongly behind such a ballot measure, there would be little incentive for the Chargers to spend money on campaigning for such a losing measure.
San Diego has never really embraced the Spanos family, more affectionately known in this space as the Spanos goofs. Again, this is written by a writer for the L.A. Times, says the Chargers have failed to sell out home games, leading to local TV blackouts and management more often than not comes across as a dictatorship exhibiting poor judgment than as a community asset. Now. It says high up in this column after a first paragraph in which he tells his readers in the L.A. Times to expect the Chargers to play the 2012 season at the L.A. Coliseum while construction on a new L.A. stadium gets underway. He also adds his commentary dig at the Spanos family that owns the team and a slap at the team himself with these words. He says.
Talk to anyone who has spent time with the Chargers owner, Dean Spanos, and Spanos has a pretty good idea of the endgame. Ordinarily, that's a loss in the playoffs, but now it's all about moving to L.A. Wow. Listen, I really, really hope that that's not true, and I really hope that San Diegans would overwhelmingly vote for the Chargers to stay and for a stadium to be built. hate to lose the Chargers. I think they mean a lot to the community. I think they're a great organization. I love the football team. I just really hope that this is an L.A. Times guy saying a bunch of stuff that he doesn't know what he's talking about. Two questions. Do you think, because I didn't live here at the time when they were talking about building Petco, and from what I heard, they came out and said, hey, listen, you build us a new stadium for the Padres?
We're going to put a badass product on the field. Yes. Period. They did. And they didn't. And they haven't. Well, you know they would argue that. They would say, well, we went to the playoffs in 04. Right. And, you know, we've won the West. They have. What they don't do is they don't advance. Yeah, I wonder if that has anything to do with people just saying, fine, if it's the new stadium bit, again, we're not going to get behind it. You're not going to raise our taxes to build a new stadium, and you're not going to put a winning product on the field. I wonder if San Diegans would be – if that would have any effect on it. I believe that there's a different psychology in San Diego for the Padres and the Travers. I think you're right. I think you're right. Totally different psychology. They fought the Petco Park as well, though. They wanted a library. They wanted a library instead. They're like, we need a library, not a new stadium. And, you know, I believe that the same people that fought Petco would fight something for the Chargers. Another question. Chargers move 90 miles up the road to L.A. You still rooting for them? I don't know. It'd be so hard. I guess. I guess. I guess. Would you?
Who else are you going to root for? I don't know. The Yuma Bulldogs? You wouldn't feel like you got an arrow through your heart? Of course. I want to say yes, absolutely I would root for them because my whole life I've been a Charger fan. But then when I think about... I was an LT fan, and now he's on the Jets, and I want the Jets to go down and play. Exactly. I wish I knew how to quit you. There you go. If they move to Los Angeles, what they're going to do is they're going to build themselves as Southern California's football team. Does that mean? No. Is that? Yeah, it's because. Jay has to have that phone. Yeah, he's got people. I don't know, man. You know, you hear the old, remember the old Cleveland Browns? They snuck out of Cleveland in the middle of the night. It was Baltimore. Baltimore. When they moved to Indy. Indy, yeah. Get your facts straight. And, you know, you don't see a lot of those guys rooting for their same, oh, but you know what? Because they've got a team. Same players. If we got a team, you know, if we got a team, I don't think they got a team right away. No, they didn't. It took years for them to get a team. But imagine if they, okay.
Picture it like this, Woods. Pretend there were no Redskins, and they moved from Baltimore to D.C., which is very close. And they ceased being the Baltimore Colts, and they started being the Washington Colts. I don't know. If it's very close in geography. It is close, man. It is close. I can't imagine San Diego Charger fans being very stoked to cheer for the L.A. No, they wouldn't, but they would. But they would. They wouldn't be stoked about it, but they would do it. And here's the other deal. They would do it. until San Diego got its own football team, which, by the way, if the Chargers move, we never will. I will say that now. If the Chargers move out of San Diego, San Diego will not get a professional football team. I do not believe it. Ever? No. No. And the reason that I say that is how long have the Rams been out of Los Angeles? Wild. And how long have the Raiders been out of Los Angeles? A while. And L.A. doesn't have any football team. And that's L.A. That's L.A. Yeah. That's L.A. You know who got a franchise before Los Angeles? Carolina. Yeah. Jacksonville. Yep. Those cities got a team before Los Angeles did. San Diego. And see, that's the other thing. The NFL would say, why would we give you a franchise? The last time you had a franchise, you didn't sell your games out. Yeah.
You won't build a new stadium? You won't? Yeah. Your city's government is upside down in a mess fiscally. What are you going to do? Holy crap, dude. I can't imagine. I think I would cry. Yeah, I think a lot of people would, man. I think a lot of people would. It would be a dark, dark day in San Diego if the Chargers move. Or, according to this guy, when they move. Yeah, he's convinced that it's going to happen. Oh. You know, I think that we need to have, like he says in the article. What it's going to take is it's going to take some politicians to get on board with them staying. I don't know about that. I don't want it to cost me any money. Oh, come on, Jay. Jay doesn't like sports. He doesn't like sports. He doesn't count. But it's so good for the city. Isn't it? Isn't it? Yeah. Dude, if they build a new stadium, it's going to bring a Super Bowl here. It'll bring Super Bowls here and that'll raise so much dough. It's good for a city to have. That was the expansion. That's what they said about the expansion for Qualcomm when they did that big expense, and then we all absorbed all the taxes for it. Well, then they went in there and did a Super Bowl at that stadium and realized, oh, we didn't know it was a turd. We didn't realize Qualcomm is a turd, and it is. It should be called the Toilet Bowl. It just costs me so much already to live here. And then there's more taxes on top of it. Come on. How much do you think?
your taxes are going to be affected. Will you really notice it? Man, even a dollar. A dollar? He's the worst. He is the tightest. He is tight. I got kids to feed. Oh my gosh, your kids are grown. I still got to feed them, apparently. Apparently. Yeah, they're there every other time. I love them. Don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. I love him. He's like, but Matty, maybe buy some groceries. Our house is not a grocery store. Isn't it? Oh, that's awesome. Let's see. M1 Curly is calling from Carlsbad. Are you there, Curly? Good. I kind of disagree with Mikey. I think that San Diego would get its own football team eventually. Why? Because this is San Diego. We have... You know, a little north, we got Disneyland and Anaheim, a baseball team in the middle of our town. We got mountains off to the side. We got everything in this area. We cannot go without a football team. And people either love L.A. or they hate L.A. Personally, I hate L.A. And the reason I've been on a football team is because people hate L.A. Well, here's the deal, though. Here's the deal, Curly, is that you are, ironically enough, in saying that we have SeaWorld and we have this and we have that.
Ironically enough, you're making the argument for why people don't go to the games. And that's the reason that I think the NFL wouldn't award us a football team because we don't sell out games. And that's what the NFL wants. They want a full stadium. They're not making dough if we're not watching it on TV. And the only way we're watching it on TV is if we have sellouts. You've got to be able to back that up by having something. We agree with you, and I think, Curly, the thing is that if San Diego loses the Chargers, Mike's probably right. I mean, they're not going to look at you and go, all right, we'll give you guys another crack at it. I mean, you would have messed up something great, potentially great, that you already had. And I think that there are other cities in America that make a more compelling case for a franchise. Yeah. Unfortunately.
Yeah, no, dude. Hey, I'm with you. I don't want to lose the Chargers, man. So painful. I don't want to lose the Chargers. I really hope we don't lose them because I love the team. Imagine a gigantic football. I would not be happy if they left. M1 Argyle is on the line, and he is from OB. Are you there, Argyle? I hope I hit the right line. One, two, three, four. No, I didn't. Hi, Argyle. How are you? Good. What were you calling to say? Clippers left and the Rockets left. We still don't have a basketball team here. I don't think we ever will. I don't think we will either. I think that San Diego also had a hockey team called the Seals. And it was a professional NHL team. We lost them. And I don't think that's coming back. Yeah, the Chargers leave. We're not getting them back. Didn't Houston lose their Oilers? Yeah, they went to Tennessee. But they got the Texans back? They were able to show that they could sustain
A football franchise. There's nothing else to do there. Yeah. You've lived there. Oh. Never just play the same song. Oh, I'm so bummed out right now. It's a bummer. I hope it isn't true. I hope it isn't. When we come back, Hoyle and Woods are going to do a banjo off. Studio now. I'm ready to go, man. You've been practicing all friggin' morning, haven't you? I don't have to practice, Woods, because I, I know what I'm doing. Do you? Yeah, I was raised in Mobile, Alabama. That's true. I was raised in Dallas, Texas. Oh. Well, we'll see who's got more. Well, let's see. Bring it on, buddy. Bring it. Don't just sing it. I'm not. No. Bring it. You going to bark all day, little dog? You going to bite? When we're done with that, I might challenge you to a rap-off or something. That's fine. Dance-off. Whatever. Whatever. Anything you can do, I can do better. I can bait a hook better than you? Nope. Catch catfish? Nope. I can do that.
Born and raised fishing, pal. I'm country as it gets. Oh, my God. You see that? Copenhagen. Long cut, pal. I got some skull bandits. It's for little kids. It's for little girls. Right now. Great. You know what else I can do better than you? Is that for your missus? What? You know what else I can do better than you? What? I can seduce the girls at the nightclubs. Really? I'm married, but back in the day, I would have given you a run for your money. Back in the day, you wouldn't have been able to touch what I'm able to pull at Gordon Mears. I wouldn't touch anything you pulled, trust me. You're a filthy little dirty bird. Make me want a mommy. Welcome back. It's the Mikey Show. My name's Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I'm 40 years old. Woodsy's 35. He's sitting right across from me, and he is our... Sports guy. Lauren O'Brien is not here today. Otherwise known as LOB. She is not here today. Because she's sick. Sienna is our news girl. And she is here today. And she's sitting to my left. Jay is our producer. And he is 47. And our phone screener is Will. That's Will. So I want to let you know that
This time next week, we will be one day away from the Mikey-thon. So get ready for it. Dude. Makes me tired. I'm going to go home right after Wednesday's show and I'm going to bed until 3.30 a.m. I'm going to try to sleep all the way. You won't be able to. Yes, I will. In just a little bit, I got to tell you about what I saw at CBS the other day. Also. In a little bit, my friend Rihanna is in the studio and she's going to get us in the Christmas mood. I need it. Christmas spirit. I think I need it. She's going to do two songs for us. She's going to do Oh Holy Night and she's going to do I'll Be Home for Christmas. Two of my favorite Christmas songs. I love those. Me too. Let's see. And then also. Still to come on the show. Very famous person is into UFOs. We have audio of that. And we'll also tell you about how George Lucas wants to resuscitate dead actors using computers. Okay. Oh, who doesn't? Greetings. Somebody looks a little worried over there. You looking in the mirror? No, I'm not. I'm looking at you, country boy. That's right. Now, let me tell you something. I'm the best there's ever been.
Is that right? You stole that from Charlie Daniels. I didn't steal it from anywhere. Yeah, you did. Let me tell you something. First of all, just because you have a thicker accent than me doesn't make you... Not true. Really? Doesn't make you more country. You're the countryest dude I know. Yeah, but I don't have an accent as thick as yours. You're the countryest sounding dude I know. I'm actually a little more country than you. You have the thickest Texas accent. Hoyle, just last week you were saying how San Diego you are and how you wear Haley. I wear Quicksilver. Well, then why are you now? Now you're saying you're so country. I wear Hurley clothing. Make up your mind. Sanuks. That's right. I wear Sanuks. Sanuks. And at my home, I have a boogie board. Oh, wow. Big surprise. I didn't tell people that. I know. If you're awesome, it's all right to tell people sometimes. Awesome. Okay, but now you're saying that you're so country. Yeah. So which are you? Well, it's in my roots. I can't get rid of it. It's in my roots. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy, right? That's right. You said it right. All right. Well, let's see what you got. Stop screaming at me. I'm not screaming. How long have you been playing the banjo?
I've been playing the banjo since I was two. Oh, wow. So full of it. I started playing at two years old. And my daddy owned one. And I remember I just soiled my diapers and crawled upon this banjo, picked it up. More information than we needed to know. Well, before my parents could even grab the diaper to change me, I was dueling banjo. Dueling banjo with yourself? That's right. Okay. My daddy had an old six-string washburn and he couldn't play a lick. So I picked it up and I started fooling with it, but I got into the banjo later. And, you know, it kind of took off for me in college. All right, country boy, well, you ready to get this on? Let's go. What do you got? You start. Check out some of this. Let me see what you got. You had the easier part. Did I? Watch this. That's pretty elementary. I like your finger movement, I'll tell you that. Thank you, thank you. What about this? Ash, don't tell me. Oh, you look like you're so not scared. I'm not scared. I'm surprised. I'm ready for you guys to step it up. Oh, well, I'm about to right now. Come on now. You got me. Yeah. What about that? Anything you can do, I can do better. What about this right here? And that's what I do. That's what I do, too. Now I'm going to kick your butt. And I'm going to kick. Wow. How about some of this, boy? How about some of that, boy? How about some of this, boy? How about some of that, boy? How about some of that, boy? How about some of that? Some of that.
Why my forehead? Why my forehead? That ain't bad. We're not bad together, actually. No, we ain't, actually. I said we form a band. He's sweating. I am getting into it. I'm not looking at the core. I'm looking you dead in the eye. I'm looking you dead in the eye. I got it. Take it, take it, take it. My turn, my turn. That's right. I'm sweating. Holy cow. I had no idea you could do that. Yeah, not a lot of people do, but. Can I just solo for a second and show you what I can do if I just solo a little bit? Okay. I don't mean to show off. Well, I'm going to do some, too. All right. Let me just. Hoyle, go. Wait a minute. Sorry. Eric. Monica. Not bad. Not bad. Let me get some. Let me get some. Let me get some. Look at that, Woods. Holy cow, Woods. Yeah. I'm going to stand up. Oh, you are a hick. Oh, my goodness. Hey, he can dance and play. Hey, you can dance and do? Yeah. Multi-talented. What do you think about that?
Well, you sure do run your mouth for somebody that don't go heel. Not bad. Not bad. I take my hat off to you. I take my hat off to you. You guys are both great. I'm exhausted. Form a band. You should. How about we form a band? We call it Toots Magoots. No, no. You don't like Toots Magoots? No, I don't. Why not? I don't really want to hang out with you outside of work. I'm sorry. Yes, you do. Mikey pays me to hang out with him outside of work. Will you pay me? You know, you didn't have to mention me. All right, one time Mikey gave you $60 to drive him to the airport. It was $80. To pick up his $60. I think Mikey almost paid him yesterday, too. I think so. Well, but Woods wanted too much. Tried to negotiate. Started the bidding at $5. Yeah. I went to immediately $50. For an hour. All right, I got to get back to work. Okay.
Good job. Hoyle, what do you even do here? No one knows. Budgets all day. No, you don't. Yes, I do. You walk around and you're hurling Quicksilver. Yes, that's right, because I'm from California now. No, you're not. I am now. And I got to act the part. Luckily, I fit right in. I walk around in the malls. Nobody even knows. I laugh, man. I look around at people. I'm like, I know you think I'm from Santee. I ain't. I'm not even from here. I know you think I grew up in La Jolla. I didn't. La Jolla? I know people think it. I didn't. No one thinks it. Nobody thinks it. It's a fanny pack, I think. Yeah. You think the fanny pack gives it away? Yeah, I think it gives it away that you're not from here. Plenty of people wear fanny packs. And the TiVos. And the fact that you have socks on with your sandals. Yeah. No, it's not. It's bad. It's not how it's done here. It's wrong. I had a guy the other day, probably thought I was from Otage Mesa because I was over there. Otage Mesa? Otage. Because I was over there buying some Mexican tortillas. And I thought to myself, I bet this guy thinks I'm from here. No one thinks that. No one thinks that. That's the truth. I went to El Cajon the other day to buy myself some crystal meth. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm joking. I'm joking. Are you? For goodness sake. What were you doing there? In El Cajon?
I had to do some, I was on Elkhorn Boulevard buying some vitamins. Sure you were. Wow. Buying vitamins. Don't you take vitamins? We do. Yeah, get mine at CVS. Yeah. What is that? It's a drugstore. Oh, I'll do that then. Yeah, do that. It's easy. A little safer. They're all over the place. Don't be up all weekend either. Hey, speaking of that, Hoyle, I'm at CVS the other day and I see a kid, probably nine. Kid was probably nine or ten years old. Full mohawk. Guy had a full mohawk. He's nine? Nine or ten. Wow. He was nine or ten. Now. Parents have to okay that. Well, sure. I mean, they got to take them. Wow. They got to take them. Now, to me, this is not a question of appropriate, inappropriate. I don't think it's inappropriate. If your kid likes the mohawk or whatever. It just got me into the thought of, like, mohawks. Now, and maybe it is for some people. Maybe it's a question of, well, is that, like, bad that your kid has a mohawk or whatever? Personally, I say it's not. And the reason I say that is because I think you've got to give with your kids on some things. Really? On the mohawk? Let me tell you why. That's so young. Before you get started.
Was it a real Mohawk with the shave? Everything was shaved, but the thing down the middle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not a fauxhawk. Not a fauxhawk, which means that mom and dad have to help. Yeah, yeah. Now, let me just point out why I feel this way. See, I feel like, do you ever see the parents that are constantly, no, no, don't, no, no, don't, don't, don't, no, stop, no. Well, I believe that in order for... In order for your no to mean something, you have to say yes sometimes. Right. Yeah. You know, in order for the no to mean something. Great point. Otherwise, your kids are constantly hearing no and they just become desensitized to it because that's all they're ever hearing. Something like a haircut, eh. You know what I mean? I wanted two holes in my ears, piercing in each ear, and my mom said no, but she said yes to when I said, can I get my belly button pierced? Really? Yeah.
Probably because it was hidden. Well, she said, I'll regret having two holes. And I'm glad I didn't do it because I only have one in each ear now. And she said, you won't see the belly button. So she took me. See, the ears are a permanent thing. I'd probably be more apt to say no to something permanent. But if my kid, you know, if the cool thing at school is, hey, dad, all the dudes are wearing black mascara. Oh, man. Okay. Go for it. Hey, listen. I don't like it. I ain't doing it. Knock yourself out. How do you say yes to that? I'll tell you why, man. Because you've got to be able to say yes to stuff so that your no means something. You know, dude, but that's just like a kid with a mohawk. I don't know. I mean, what do you need a mohawk for? Finn had one. He did? Yeah. He had a faux hawk, I bet. He had a full-on mohawk. Shaved on the sides. Not for long. Just because he wanted to do it. And Woodsy, what do you mean, because you said, do you need, why do you need? I need a mohawk, come on. What do you need? Do you need attention that bad? Need? Look at me, I have a mohawk. Oh, boy. See, I'm sorry, a nine-year-old, not okay. Exactly, not okay. Someone that's like 17, that's okay. He was like 14. Rage against the machine when you're 17, not when you're nine. And I can see Finn doing it, and then...
I'm sure he just shaved his head the next day. Absolutely. And had it for like a day. It was probably two weeks. Because he was playing soccer. And a lot of the players on the team were doing it. That's different, bro. That's different. I did that. It was a lady killer, though. Oh, yeah. All of a sudden, all the girls were like. He was just like blending in. He was like. I'll tell you, we did that. Our team went and shaved our heads. You know, my dad, I went home and my head was like your head, Mike. It was bald. I mean, I went home. My dad was like, oh, boy. I go, yeah, the whole team did it for team solidarity. That's different. But then, you know, a nine-year-old kid walks walking around sporting a mohawk. What's next? You know, but I have seen little, little boys whose parents do it, like two years old or one year old, like trying to be cute with the hairs there. I've seen that. With a faux hawk. That's different. That's kind of cute. No, I think I've seen the full on. What's wrong with that? I don't know. It's just, I don't know. It was enough to make you notice and say, you know, you noticed. I noticed. I don't know. M1 Virgin Nikki from Escondido. What's up? Hey, guys. Hi. My six-year-old has a mohawk. A real mohawk? Yeah. Well, actually, right now it is a faux hawk, but it's been a mohawk a couple times in the past. What are you going to do? It's a haircut. Well, we come kind of from, like, you have to think our kids are.
that age and 10 years ago it was cool to have a mohawk but our parents that's not it's not cool to have a mohawk yeah at all hey woods you ain't smoking jerks not yet oh really you're telling me that mohawk is the gateway to jerks i am not saying that mike you just put those words in my mouth but you did say earlier you did say earlier thank you virgin nicky you did say earlier what's next come on really what do you what is next what's next curlers What's next? A sleeve? Maybe get them a sleeve when they're nine. That'd be cool. Because, hey, you know what? Everybody likes them. It's not permanent. Let's give them a sleeve. Starts at Mohawks, then it turns into a fade. What about maybe pierce your lip? Because that's permanent. What if your kid's... No, it's not. Take it out. Your kid's 14. He leaves a hole. And he comes and goes down and I'm piercing my lip. You're like... Leaves a hole. Okay. I guess I have to say yes to some stuff. Say leaves a hole. What if he wants a henna tattoo on his face? Does it go away? Yes. Yeah, yeah. You could do that. What? What if he wants a tramp stamp? It doesn't go away. But nobody will see it. It doesn't go away. It's permanent. I guess it's a good point. If you can shave your head and look, you know, like a normal dude. Yeah. I don't know. That's what I'm saying. Sorry, I'm not Joe Punk Rock, man. I'm not Joe Punk Rock. You'd be like, you know, shave your head, give yourself a mohawk. Emma and Ken from Ramona. What's going on? Hey, I got a six-year-old son. Best behaved. Just a really good kid. He's got a mohawk, actually. That's cool.
But when they're that little, I mean, isn't that you? It's cute. It's you that wants him to have a mohawk. Because that's not something a six-year-old's going to be like, I want a mohawk. Well, actually, the kid at school had it, and he came to me with it, and I was okay with it. It's better than piercines or anything like that. Yeah. That's permanent. That's permanent. Yeah. We both are from San Diego, and we wear socks. our sandals. What? Just like Hoyle. It's funny. We ended up cutting Finn's mohawk off because his teacher started to look at him differently. Where he'd always been a good kid before, they started kind of going, maybe. How do you know? Because just the way they started treating him. He even said, he's like, man, they don't seem to like me as much as they used to. Really? Yeah. That stinks. Okay. My friend Rihanna is in the studio. Rihanna, do you need to wear the headphones? Are you okay without them? Or what do you want to do? It's totally up to you. Okay, cool. Go ahead. I just have to tell you that I'm a little intimidated after your banjo playing. I don't know if I can follow that. Very few can. Yeah, very few can do it. That was impressive. Very few can do it. Thank you, guys. I appreciate it. That's right. I appreciate it, too. You're not supposed to be in here. Hoyle, why don't you go to work now? Yeah, go get your budgets done, finger quotes. I've got most of my quarter one stuff done. Maybe you roll a raisin for the kid in quarter one in your budgets. What is a raisin? A raise.
A raise in for the kid. You don't know what a raise it is? You want me to roll a raisin into something? It's code for jerk. No, I want you to write a raise into the budget. Yeah, I'll give you a raise, buddy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Give me a raise right out of the building. You know how much work I had to do to get you hired? Practically had to contact the FBI. No, that's true. That's true. And keep me here. That's right. So, Rihanna, what are you going to play? All right. Well, I'm going to play Oh, Holy Night. It's my favorite. I think this is my number one favorite Christmas song. Sweet. So pretty. So here we go. That was gorgeous. Incredible. She's going to do another one for us, too. She's going to do I'll Be Home for Christmas, which is probably my favorite ever.
Love that. So we'll be back. And so, yeah, we're also going to tell you what George Lucas is up to with trying to resuscitate dead actors with computers. And who's the celebrity that's really big into UFOs and told a trippy story to Jimmy Kimmel about it? My dude. That is a delightful song from STP. So good. He writes such good songs like that. Gosh. I want to let you know that FM 94.9, starting at 10 a.m., are going to be paying tribute to John Lennon. 30 years ago today was the date of his death. Today is the 30th anniversary, and it was on Monday Night Football that people heard the announcement. Don Smith is on the line, and I don't care what's on the line, Howard. You have got to say what we know in the booth.
Yes, we have to say it. Remember, this is just a football game, no matter who wins or loses. An unspeakable tragedy confirmed to us by ABC News in New York City. John Lennon, outside of his apartment building on the west side of New York City, the most famous, perhaps, of all of the Beatles, shot twice in the back, rushed to Roosevelt Hospital, dead on arrival. So that was how people found out about it. You know, it was such a weird way that it all came down. There was a guy that was in the emergency room from ABC News. He worked for ABC. And he had been in an auto accident, happened to be in the emergency room. And that's how he knew about John Lennon, because John Lennon was rushed into that emergency room. Made a phone call to ABC News. Since he worked for them, they relayed the message to Monday Night Football. And that's how the world found out. It wasn't in the day of cell phones. It wasn't in the day of Twitter. And so people didn't know. And that's how they found out. It's pretty remarkable. But tonight's 8 o'clock album will be imagined by John Lennon. And they pay tribute to him. And every hour on the hour at 10 o'clock, it's going to be John Lennon music.
Kind of a cool thing that the radio station is doing. So Dan Aykroyd was recently on Jimmy Kimmel. And he was talking about, I don't know if you know this, but he's really into UFOs. Woodsy does not believe in UFOs, right, Woods? I believe there are unidentified flying objects, meaning there are objects that fly that we can't identify. I don't believe in aliens. I am 100% in agreement with Woods. Thank you. I believe that there are military, most likely military aircraft that we don't know what they are because they're secret. Right. And we see them and they're weird. I believe you're fooling yourself. I know. Yeah, we're so big that there can't be anything bigger than us. Yeah, there's so many aliens. We're here. What makes you think that there's not other people? Greetings. How come we haven't seen them then?
Because they don't have time to mess with us. They don't have time? Why, they have to be at lunch? Well, they're trying to figure out the same stuff we are. We're like a tiny fingernail in the world. We are. You take time to talk to the ants? Just get. Take time to talk to the ants. Just get. Well, here he is. Here's Dan Aykroyd talking to Jimmy Kimmel about one that he saw. Do you believe in UFOs? Oh, absolutely. I've seen three. You've seen three? I have, yes. I have woods. I know. I've seen them too. I don't know. I mean, listen, I believe it was military. As in Phoenix, there's a documentary called The Phoenix Lights because they see them in Phoenix all the time. And I think it was military. And whatever it was, if it's ours, it's cool. And I'm glad we have it. I don't know what we're going to do with it. But what I saw looked like a white light coming across the horizon really, really fast. had to have been at least 30,000 feet up because it was about the same as an aircraft. What would it be if that was military, and why don't we know what it is then? Well, let me tell you. So it's a white light, right? No, no, no. But I watch it travel from way at the bottom of the horizon, and I watch it because it's moving so fast. It's the only reason I paid attention to it. It was moving so fast. No, no, no. Woods, a plane don't move that fast. Not one that you know about. Right. Exactly. And Woods is right.
My belief is that it's a military plane that we don't know about. Why don't we know about it, though? Because they're developing something that's for our defense, I believe. But this was a white light, and it was coming across the horizon really, really fast. And it was above. I watched it all the way until my head was craned all the way up looking at it because it had moved across the horizon so fast. And it stopped. On a dime. It didn't slow down. It went and stopped. They turned the lights off. No, the lights stayed on. Oh, the lights stayed on. Right. And so I remember telling Rebecca about it, right? I called Rebecca, my wife, and she was in San Diego. I was in Phoenix. And I said, you're coming out here tomorrow. You'll never believe what I saw. I told her and she was like, okay, you're crazy. And so the next day she flew out. The next morning, I woke up and I went outside onto the patio. Four o'clock in the morning is when I still smoke cigarettes. I was smoking a cigarette outside. It's four o'clock in the morning. And I see it again. And I woke her up. And I woke my mother up. And I woke my niece Jennifer up. And they all came out. And I said, I'm not seeing this by myself. I woke them up. They all came out. We watch it. Same thing. Stops. Turns into two white lights.
And they start to move around each other. And they're moving up until we can't see the light anymore. And when it started moving up, my niece Jennifer goes, okay, and walked inside. Freaked out. Got scared. Was there hashish in the cigarette? There was no hashish in that cigarette. UFO. I'm telling you, what else is it? I believe it was military. I believe it was military because I don't believe in space aliens. He's giving me the greetings. Now, Woods. Believe it. But don't we believe the same thing that that's military? Yeah, I think it's military. Yeah. I don't think it's little green guys from other places. I don't think it's green guys, but I think it's something. It's something. Do you think it's something from outer space? Do you think it's something not from Earth? Yes. Yes. I don't. I do not. When I first saw one, we were outside, a bunch of us. We looked up, and there was this perfect triangle, way up. And we were like, ooh, UFOs, ooh. All of a sudden, it rotated 180 degrees, and then just went, like, away. We all went, oh. You saw them. They saw that you saw them. They got scared, and they went back to Nebulon. I don't know what was going on, but I was probably 17. They went to Remulac.
I've never seen anything, and I believe it. I don't need to see it to believe it. Jay, but you don't believe that that was a... Not when I was 17. No, no, no. Well, that was 106 years ago. Yeah, it was 106 years ago. They didn't have it. They have some planes. They barely had helicopters at that point. Oh, my gosh. Jay, do you believe that that was not of Earth? I believe that was not of Earth. And I've seen other stuff fly around here. Why is that funny? You guys, you have no idea. Small-minded. Small-minded, exactly. Oh, boy. I got too many things to worry about on Earth. I'm not worried about the aliens. You don't have to worry. Just know that why not? Do I? Do I? Yeah. Do I? You have a pain in your brain. Just because you live in a fantasy land. I don't live in a fantasy land. Don't you? You literally live in a fantasy land. You live with your mom, you don't pay bills, and you play video games all day. That's a nerd's paradise. I don't play video games all day. I play video games 12 hours a day. Well, and you listen to us for four hours a day. Anyway, you don't know anything about UFOs. I do know that there are no aliens. It's not pronounced Remulak. It's pronounced Reinulak. Oh, my bad. L is silent.
Have you ever seen a UFO, CBK? He's been probably taken by. He's been probed. I would tell you the story, but you would just make fun of it. You're probably right. Don't worry, I want to hear it. I won't make fun of you, won't I? I was abducted by a UFO. I was camping. Now I know you're lying. I was camping with my troops. Okay. Boy Scout Troop. No. Eagle Scout Troop. If you have to know my personal business, it was a D&D recreation. True. Flagstaff, Arizona. Flagstaff. And? And while I was asleep with a strange noise, I had to urinate and I went into the woods. Woods? Woods. And while I was there, I saw a very bright light.
Oh, no. I'm not telling you anything I haven't told the FBI. I was into the... I was... Oh, my God. Which you rather enjoyed, I'm sure. I'm sure. Don't get mad. Don't get mad. Too late. Come on. It's okay. If you're not going to take it seriously, I don't want to talk about it. So, the next thing I remember was waking up in my sleeping bag. It's quite a nap you have. No one from your D&D. troop woke you? Nobody missed him. I'm sure it was a dream. They said they didn't want to wake me. You and Rip Van Winkle. Anyway, they're real. I believe you. I do not. Thank you, Jane. And Sienna, you said you wouldn't laugh and you did. I know. You got me when you said you went on a D&D camping trip in Flagstaff.
What's so funny about that? So many things. What do you guys talk about? What do you talk about? Is that it? Flagstaff? It's not a big enough city. D&D. Oh, that's right, man. Yeah. Notice where you see news stories about aliens and alien abductions. The globe. It's called the London News or whatever. Those rag trash magazines. There's no such thing. The Phoenix Lights are in the Arizona Republic. Right. That's a military operation. There's no aliens. You can't prove that either. Have you been on another planet? I've seen men in black. I have. I've been on Mars. Until I've spoken to someone who has, then you don't know. There's people in the Air Force that say they've seen them. There's all kinds of people that are noted. We'll go to Roswell and dig one up, one of those alien men.
You want to believe it because it's so sensational. I don't want to believe it. No, I don't care about being sensational. I just think that we're here. Why aren't they there? All right, let's listen to Dan Aykroyd's story. Let's. How close were they to you? Well, one was 100,000 feet. It was going about 20,000 miles an hour. There were two of them. My wife saw it with two other witnesses because the Concord makes a left over Martha's Vineyard at about 50,000 feet so I could gauge the altitude. 100,000 at night. 20,000. They were as if two discs like just. flying in tandem and in controlled flight. And it wasn't a meteoric bolide, wasn't a helicopter, wasn't Venus, wasn't the moon, and I had three other people with me. And they all believe today that we saw something that defied, really, Earth-bound engineering. You know, people are laughing when you describe this because it's coming from you, but you're serious, right? I am. Get it on camera. You know they have. Dude, they have. I saw the Loch Ness Monster one time, too. I saw a picture of it. I saw this net coming up out of the thing. I was six at the time when I saw it. It scared the pee out of me, but I saw it and it was like, oh my God, that's Nessie. I know it sounds funny, but you just have to think. I don't have to. Why is Earth the only place with human beings on it? I worry about who the Padres are going to sign next year. That's who I worry about. I'm not worried about aliens. No one's worried. I'm not worried. Yeah, I'm not worried. No. I'm so worried. See, Woods, I'm getting two different messages. What's your message?
I hear you on one hand say that you believe that maybe it's military, but there's definitely not any aliens from outer space. Correct. Get that message loud and clear. But I also feel like you don't even really believe that there's military weird stuff. No, I do. I do. There has to be. It's got to be. Well, how? Let me ask you a question. What do you mean how? Wait, wait, wait. I want to ask you a question. The story that I told you, do you believe it? You don't. About Mikey. You know, Rebecca was with me, and so was my mom and my niece, and they'll tell you the same story. Yeah, okay. We all saw it. If you all saw it, I believe it. We all saw it. Now, I don't believe there were little green dudes in that thing. If you stare at it, they were brown. In fact, I don't even know if anybody was in it at all. It could have been a remote control. Could have been a kite. Could have been a very powerful military kite. It could have been a, you know how they have those, the military has those unmanned. Yeah, satellite. How about a satellite?
I guess I could think that it was a satellite, except that it stopped and it had a light on it and it turned into two satellites. Would you be able to see a satellite? Sure. It stopped. That light to get your attention? Programmed. You can program things to do. There's things that are so far beyond our comprehension. I just don't think... Yeah, but satellite isn't beyond our comprehension. We actually have the capacity to understand a satellite. That's not what I'm saying, Smart A. You are too. I'm saying that there's probably programs of satellites that they can make them do things that we don't even understand that they can do. Okay. I'm just saying. Okay, but you know what else I think it could be? I think that it could be something that we want to send into Afghanistan. Sure. You know, that can fly. Really, really hot. The only thing I would wonder about that is, why would it have a light? Because it's not... So they can see it. You don't want the enemy to see it. Yeah. Maybe they're testing it. Okay. They're testing it. Makes sense. They say that there's all kinds of reports from military that these UFOs are coming around the nuclear reactors and that kind of thing. Yeah, they're probably stealing our plans. They're probably just checking it out. Yeah, probably just checking it out. Making sure we know what we're doing. M1 Tracy from Oceanside.
Hello? Hi, Tracy. Hey, Tracy. Hey, what's up? Okay, I just have a question. You were saying, I mean, you have to at least appreciate the fact that CNNJ want to, you know, they at least believe there's something else out there. Yeah. Everyone else appreciates the fact that you believe in God, and you haven't physically seen Him. True. That is correct, but I have had an encounter with Him. I have had a physical encounter with Him. In fact, the fact that I'm different is sort of... And my proof of him, because I'll tell you what, I'm a jerk. I mean, if left to my own devices. I mean, just absolutely manipulative, lying, cheating, creepy guy. And so that's my, you know, and there's other stuff that I've never talked about on the air that's kind of creepy that I have experienced as well. But so I, you know, I have had a physical.
encounter with God. But most people have not. Right, right, right. And a lot of people, not a lot of people, but some people may say, maybe they've had a physical encounter themselves with a UFO. Yeah, they do. Well, they do. And people say that. And so, you know, that's like saying that person's crazy, but you're not crazy? No, no, no, no. I never said the word crazy. I'm saying that. I'm saying that. Woods is saying the word crazy. I'm not saying somebody's crazy. I am. Steve Woods, print it. Yeah. Mark it. I'm not saying anybody's crazy. You're a lunatic. I'm just saying I don't buy it. And I'm telling you that I've seen something I can't identify, you know, but I'm not buying it. Well, you know, I just had a little food for thought. I agree with you, Tracy. I like what you're throwing down. I get what you're throwing down. I'm picking it up. Thank you, Tracy. All right. All right, cool. Let's hold those lines. Hold those lines. We'll get back on. Tell them to stay because I still want to talk to them. We're going to do another song. With Rihanna. She's going to play us another song. And she had to learn this one because she asked me, hey, what's your favorite Christmas song? And I said, I'll be home for Christmas. And it ain't easy. She was trying to show me the chords. I was like, never mind. Well, she teaches. You teach guitar. I do. And so she knows what's up. And she was like, she was saying what these things were. And she's like, this is, you know, E minor with a something, something. And I'm like, what? I don't know what she's saying. Ridiculous. Yeah, but she's good. So, okay, go ahead. All right, here we go.
I'll be home for Christmas. For Christmas, if only in my dream. Christmas Eve will find me where the love light gleams. Be home for Christmas, if only in my dream. Thank you so much. She has such a great voice. She's easy on the eyes, too.
Creepy. Are you making a record? I am. And it is almost out. I've been saying that for three years, but it really is. It really is almost out. I love it. I love it. All right. When we come back, we'll take more of your phone calls because now people are calling in. Furious with me, I'm sure. No, no, no. Some people agree with you. A lot of people. Yeah, no. I mean, a lot of people do. And we will talk to you about it. We'll talk to you about it when we get back. 570-1949 if you want to talk about it. Okay, so all kinds of people are calling in about UFOs. So 570-1949. What's in it? Woods does not believe in UFOs. I believe in UFOs. No, you don't. I believe there are unidentified, I'll say it again, for the record. I believe there are objects that fly that are unidentified. That could be military. That's what I believe. It seems like you don't even believe that. Why do I feel that way? Maybe I'm picking up, I don't know. Well, what do you think it is? I don't know, but I don't even think he believes that. I believe it. I don't think he believes that. I believe there are things that shoot across the sky that we don't know what they are.
I believe Woods may be being a little sarcastic. Are you talking about like shooting stars right now? No. Woods. I like what Adam's in. Adam Lesser says that what if it's angels? Yes. What if it's angels? And they're sent by God. Just kind of checking up. Well, why are they flying like 30,000 feet and stopping on a diamond? They're checking you out. They're like, hey, look at that guy in there. He needs a lot of money. I'm going to get that guy. M1 Jordan from Escondido. What's up, Mikey? What's going on? And I'm sure you're going to give me a very honest answer, but it's kind of something that I battled with a long time and had to try to understand. But I grew up a very Christian and religious person, much like you are now. But not want to in life, you know, because you feel that you are somehow defying your God. Well, I wouldn't be defying my God.
I know science and religion have kind of clashed, you know, for what is it that you do not want to, you know, believe that there is possibly life somewhere else besides Earth? Well, I mean, maybe there is. There may be life somewhere else on Earth. I guess I don't believe that they're flying spaceships and that we're seeing them. I don't believe that. I don't believe there's like little green aliens. I just don't believe that. That they're taking humans and doing experiments and things like that. I don't buy that either. Well, you know, there's a lot of mis-scopulation out there. And there's a lot of people that do make up stories. I've traveled a lot. I've done a kind of studies on a lot of archaeology sites. And I've been to Peru. I've seen the NASA mines. And I've done a lot of stuff where just to... understanding just for me. I kind of just enjoy it. Hey, dude, I don't mean to rush you along, but we've got to get to your point that you're making there. Well, yeah. My point is just I think that man has only been on so long as far as history of the solar system. There's no possible way we could be the only life form. We're developing through a period of years, and these elements on Earth definitely have to exist at other places.
Okay, all right. Thank you, dude. Thank you. That's the big question. Agreed. That's the big question. Yeah, maybe people have... Maybe. I mean, maybe he's right. All I'm telling you... Life could have been on these other planets way before we were on Earth, and that's why they figured it out first. Sienna, we could have lived on those other planets. We could have. You never know. M1 Dustin from Temecula. I saw that wink, Woods. Are you there, Dustin? Yeah, how's it going, guys? Good. That's usually kind of one of the... a little bit to what the previous guy said, although a lot more quickly. Okay. If you look at the math of it, the probability, I'm not saying that there's necessarily UFOs going on and that's what's going on and people are being kidnapped. There's definitely a lot of possibility that people are not really having this happen to their sensationalism surrounding it. I can't decide whether or not that's real. Math-wise and astronomy-wise, billion, billion, that's 18 zeros, known galaxies.
In the universe. Exactly. And so if one of those galaxies has one star with one planet to support life, you look at the odds of how many planets or how many stars that could be that could support life. Great. All I'm saying, dude, is we haven't seen it yet. Yep. That's all I'm saying. That's the bit. That's all I'm saying. Where are they? I agree. And we haven't seen it yet. Probability? Sure. There's probability. You know, but where is it? All I know that, you know. And some people say that they've been taken on board spaceships and they've been probed. Yeah, for sure they have. For sure they have. Are they looking for volunteers? Woods is way more cynical about it than I am. My answer to it is, listen, they're saying it. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. Now, there are people that hear what I say and they don't believe it. That's fine. You don't have to. I don't believe that. So, you know, we don't believe.
each other. Right. That's fine. M1 Rosh Nish from Oceanside. Hi. One of the writers in the Bible had last seen in a fiery chariot speeding. And do you know who I'm talking about, Mikey? Yeah, I do know the reference, but I don't know. It was Bob, wasn't it? Elijah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Bob. Bob Elijah. Bob Elijah. I get confused a lot of times. Bob. No, I think it was Frank. Yeah. I get those two confused all the time. Anyway, go ahead, Roshnish. Well, my point is that, I mean, I don't know what kind of language the Bible writers would be able to use to describe a rocket or like an alien spaceship taking off, but I think a fiery chariot, they might describe it like that. Woods is...
pretending to put a knife in his throat. Why wouldn't they describe it like that? I think he's right. Yeah, Woods is like, really? Bible's old. Old stories. They're stories. So you don't believe that? I believe that. You know I believe that. But I'm saying that's a description of an old story. He's saying that that story probably meant UFO. I don't believe that. What else would it have meant is what he's saying. And back then, you know, that's their way of describing what we see now. Yeah, for sure. Let's see. M1 Andrea from San Marcos. Hello? Hi, go ahead. You're on the air. Well, I just wanted to, you know, kind of, you know, say what those other guys were saying, that, you know, if you look at our solar system, and, you know, here's a reference point that everybody knows is the Milky Way galaxy. Love Milky Ways, by the way. So delicious. Yeah, they're awesome. They are awesome. Eat those by the truckload, too. If you look at just the Milky Way galaxy, we're just like a little blitz in that galaxy. Okay. And how can you not believe that in one of those other stars out there that there is a planet orbiting it? Where are they? What's he saying? Where are they? Where are the people? Where is the life? I mean, we have a hard time getting to them.
You have to figure it out. It takes time. I can believe that one day I could shoot fire from my butt. I can believe it. You will. But I can believe it. Right. It may happen, though. Might it happen? Might it happen? It could. I could shoot fire. You're talking about your body, which you've explored, and you can physically explore. Oh, I can explore it. You cannot physically explore these other planets yet. Exactly. Nobody can. Yes, you can. Nobody can. Oh, really? Do you think people hundreds of years ago thought we'd be doing the internet on our cell phones? Probably not. Probably not. You never know, Woods. Maybe. Maybe I shoot fire from my butt one day. See, I don't think you will. But I might. You might, but probably. You never know. Stop! You never know. One last call. Woods is so bored. I want to slit my throat. Yeah, this stuff bores Woods, and I think it's interesting. You're not going to sell me. M1 Mark from Chula Vista. Hi. I always had, like, an interesting thing, like, I thought about it. Like, you always hear, like, I'm in college, and, like, I always hear, you know, they say that you can only go, like, the speed of light, right? Yeah. Well, like, the closest star is, like, I don't know, thousands of light years away. Like, ironic. Like, to me, it seems like if God existed, he'd be a lot smarter than us. So, like, it's kind of like a divine boundary he's put on us. Like, we can't even get there, even if we could go, like, the universal speed limit.
We still can't get to a star. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, he's right. We can't, but, you know, I don't know. Anyway. Listen, I will tell you this, Woods. It's a whole community. No, I'm the solo man on the island. I'm going to tell you. No, no, no, no. You're not. I'm going to get a thousand emails later. You don't understand. Carl Sagan said that. No, no, no. Check it out. I'm not talking about Jay and Sienna. When I say there's a whole community, I mean a sub, sub, subculture. Oh, yeah. One of my fourth grade teacher is in this subculture. And when I was in fourth grade, she was into UFOs, right? Well, she has apparently, like in her words, gone much deeper. And I met up with her on Facebook. And as an adult, she was my favorite teacher ever. Talk to her.
And she was saying, you don't understand. I don't really play around in that world anymore. And I'm like, huh? And she would like go to give speeches and there were threats on her life. That's the people that bother me. I'm sorry. That is. She would infuriate you then. That's what bothers me. Yeah. And I was like on the phone with my jaw dropped open. I was like, what? threats on our life from aliens. No, not from aliens. From people in the culture. Don't speak about this. This is not to be spoken about. There's a subculture. It sounds crazy, but I just feel bad. We don't know what happened to them. We don't know. Yeah, we don't know. I see what you guys are saying. Do you believe it? Do you believe that people were probed in a spaceship?
Be honest, Sienna. She does. She does. She totally does. No, I don't know. They woke up and had a little probe and they were like... I have a hard time believing it unless it happens to me. But I would never say... What are you saying, Sienna? I knew that was waiting for Jay to go, I'll probe you. Some bit. I didn't say that. I may have thought it. Jay! Married woman. He's a married man. M1 Chris from North County is on the line. Yeah, I was wondering, you know, what do you think? I'm sure you'd probably have a lot to say about it. Back in the day, I was hanging out with Robin Williams. We kind of tied one on one night. Yeah. And I believe in the morning, we both agreed that we felt like we had both had a little alien in us. Really good George Takai, by the way. I love it. Thank you. Keep it going. Thank you, Chris. Bye. Thank you. Actually, this is George Takei. More than likely. That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard in my life. This is George Takei, and I used to be on Star Trek, and so I can speak to this. Do exist, would. Great. They exist, they're real, and you know what else is real? What? Guys that wear short shorts.
That is true. That I have seen and that I believe. Yep. You've been probed, haven't you? Creepy. Oh, my God. That was weird. 5701949 is our number. And if you would like to play, do we have players for Santa Sings? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We haven't played in a while. Yeah, so if you want to play, what do we have up for grabs? We have, let's see, I'll get some good stuff out here today. We'll get movie tickets to see Faster. It was starring Dwayne Johnson and Bailey Bob Thornton. There you go. You ever play the same song? Oh, boy. Never. Yeah, you played it. Jay played it for you because you were the potty. Oh, that's why. How appropriate. The Foo Fighters. There you go. That's what a Foo Fighter is, by the way. A plane, right? That's an Air Force guy that sees UFOs. I thought it was a plane. A Foo Fighter? Yeah, I thought a Foo Fighter was a type of plane. I might bet you a dollar on this one. All right, I'll bet you a dollar. I'll bet you a dollar. Oh, did you look up the answer to the question that I asked off the air? Let me tell people. Okay. I said, was there ever an iconic, gigantic rock album that the follow-up made?
More money than the iconic big rock album. We were talking about Fleetwood Mac and Rumors. And the next record, Tusk, made four million, or they had four million sales and the record company was pissed. Which is incredible because four million is, you know, quadruple platinum. Anyway, I said, the only one I can think of maybe is Def Leppard because Pyromania was extraordinarily successful and Hysteria was the follow-up. What was the deal? They were both like five times diamond. It didn't give an exact figure. I think Hysteria sold more. Holy cow. Which is insane. Oh, wow. Okay. So we come back. We'll play Sienna Sings if you want to play. 5701949. So just got a email. I don't know what's going to happen with this Haiti trip. Really? Yeah, and I mean, this is happening right now. Yeah, it just happened. Major U.S. air carriers have canceled all flights in and out of Port-au-Prince due to unsettled political atmosphere and recent violence in the last few weeks. That's who were flying, American Airlines. According to American Airlines spokeswoman Martha Panton, airport employees in Port-au-Prince were unable to get to work Wednesday because of demonstrations in the street. The cancellations affect flights.
to and from Port-au-Prince, from Miami, which is where we're flying in from, and New York. It also affects the American Eagle flight to San Juan via Santo Domingo. Flights canceled for Wednesday included three to and from Miami, one to and from Fort Lauderdale, and one to and from New York. American Airlines said they will continue to monitor the situation in Haiti and the decision to cancel flights. will be made on a day-to-day basis. Wow. I'm sorry to say it, but this seems like a sign. That's what I was going to say. This is two times your trips have been canceled right before, Mike. Like the day before. I'm thinking negative on this. You're supposed to leave, what, Friday morning? Thursday night? I'm supposed to leave Miami to Port-au-Prince Friday. The universe has a funny way of showing you and telling you things. Or maybe it's throwing down the gauntlet and wants you to fight to get there. Yeah, maybe. How do you do it? No, you can't. Maybe we're going to do work there that's really good. Well, of course. There you go. And somebody don't want us to. Maybe the devil don't want us to do it. Maybe. But maybe somebody doesn't want you to go there. Yeah, how do I figure out which? I don't know. I don't know. All I know is if it was me.
Being who I am, I would be like, oh boy, that's twice. Evaluating this. That's two times. They had a freaking huge hurricane. The eye of the hurricane hit Haiti the last time you were supposed to. They need you more than ever. Fight the good fight. Mike and Jay. Hey, that's how I feel. Yeah. See, I feel the absolute opposite. But I also, I do too, because then I'm like, man, you dengue fever and stuff. Like, what if you, I mean, it's not safe sometimes. Some things weren't meant to be. I know that you really want to go, and I hate it. That that happened. You have to throw yourself in the fray sometimes. And I feel like going is going to have a big impact. I do too. And it's going to help a lot. How do you get there? You can't swim there. If there's no flights, there's nothing you can do. We reschedule it. Reschedule it. It makes me sick. We'll have a break. We'll have a break over Christmas. Maybe then things are back on. We'll have two weeks, right? It just sucks because... You got to get yourself in the right headspace for this thing, man. That's every time. It took me a long time to get there in my head the last time. And then the day before, two days before we're supposed to go, we find out that the hurricane, Hurricane Tomas, is going to hit Haiti right when we were going to land. And they canceled the flight, so we couldn't go. And so now it's been three weeks till we're going to go again. And I've been building it up in my head. Yeah, man. And had to go get.
meds all over again for that. Mike's a really level-headed dude and I have conversations with Mike and I'm like... And when I present my opinion or my side, Mike, 99 percent of the time is like, that's a good point. What did I see where you're coming from? The day that the first trip got canceled, Jay and I were in L.A. auditioning for Wipeout, which is super important. We were auditioning for Wipeout and Mike told me he couldn't go. And I texted him. I go, well, it's OK, man. You'll be able to go. He was you could. I couldn't talk to him. But visibly through the text, I was like. Oh, wow. He's not happy. He really, really wants to go. And I could tell. Well, it's clear that you want to go. Of course you do. But I just think, you know, there's two huge signs keeping you from going. And it scares me. It's tough, man. It scares me, too. I've done work on the air, you know, that has been positive. And I've been met with resistance because, you know, I believe that it was good stuff. Right. And there was a fight against it.
You know, that's how I'm thinking in this case that, you know, but I don't know. I don't know. That sucks, bro. Can't live in fear. Dude, it is. Yeah, it ain't that with me. Trust me. I mean, if I lived in fear, I wouldn't give my testimony every Friday. That's right. It's true. You know, I mean, for me, it's a matter of that's what I think it is. It's like, you know, of course, because it's going to have a big impact, you know, and maybe it's a closed door. Maybe it's a closed door, you know, this time. I don't know, man. Yeah, that stinks, man. And, you know, the day-to-day thing is evil. Because what's the deal? If you knew now, like, hey, this trip's off, you'd be a little bit better off. Even though it was hurt for a while, you'd be a little bit better off than them saying, it's going to be day-to-day. Now you're not going to sleep a wink. You're going to be worried. I'm not. I'm not worried. I'm freaking hurt and I'm sad. I'm freaking hurt. I'm not fearful. I'm freaking hurt and I'm sad. Yeah, man. Really hurt and sad.
If we can't go, I'm hurt and sad. And I'm like, how many times, man? How many times? It's the second time and it makes me mad. It makes me really mad. I want to go do this. And then the other part of me is like, is it going to help? Is it going to help? You know, is it going to help? We're going to go there. We're going to make a video that I want to do because I want the world to see what's happening in Haiti. And I want them to give the outside the bowl. And your intentions are good. It will help. You know, your intentions are good. It just, it's, I don't know. It can't really be misconstrued, man, what you're doing. It can only be construed as a good thing. I mean, it's not like, it's not, you know, hey, I really want to go to Barbados and shoot this video about the people there. It's different, man. I heard they had real nice beaches. Yeah, it's Haiti. You know what I mean? It's not going to be misconstrued as you wanting, you know, want to get away. It's not going to be like that. You have a pure heart in what you're doing. So it sucks, man. It sucks. It's just the second time, man. It just really.
Two days before. Yep. And I don't know what it's about, man. I don't know what it's about. I know that, you know, I know that all in my life, man, God has showed me the way something is supposed to go, and sometimes it's with closed doors. Yep. And gosh darn it, it just kills me. That sucks, man. It just kills me. I'm sorry, Mike. Sorry, buddy. Well, we're always happy to have you here. Yes, we are. It's good news for us because we like you on Friday. That's right. Garrett was going to fill in. I need the big guy. Oh, man. You know what kills me? It's ripping you up, man. I know. It's figuring out the why. That's what kills me. The why. It's hard figuring it out. You know, why is why. And it's just like a kid with his dad. Dad says, you know, the kid says, hey, I want to go on this camping trip.
No, you can't go. Why not? Because I said you can't go. I said so. Yeah, but why? I said you can't go. Why? It's not important. You can't. Oh, man. That's a bummer, man. And it's not 100% off yet. They're checking with the airline daily. They're going to call the airline today and see. See, the problem is that it's day by day. Right. They make the decision day by day. So, like, tomorrow they could say, oh, it's all good. And then the next day is you say, oh, no. What would be terrible, man? What would be really terrible is for you to get to Miami or to San Juan or wherever you're connecting and then, you know, not being able to go there. I mean, it's brutal. Or, Mike, think about this too, bro. If there's no flights going in, you know what else that means? There's no flights coming out. Yeah. What if you get there and you get your thing done and it's everything that you thought it would be and more and then you can't leave?
Think about that. That's brutal. Yeah. Could be running Mikey-thon by himself. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. It's made me vomit in my hand. Oh. Yeah. Sorry. I'll sing for you. Yeah, let's do some Sienna Sing. It'll make me laugh. It'll make me laugh. Yes, it will. It has to. Yeah. All right, now here's how the game works. Oh, wait. I got so messed up with it, I forgot that we have a... Little thing you can do here. It's a different one. Oh, wait. I like that one, too. That one's fun, though. Here we go. That's what I was looking for. That's what I was looking for. That's what I was looking for. It's cheery. Sing us a song, Sienna. Ooh, you're gonna get an offer, but it's Sienna. All right, let's do this. Remix. M1 Joe from Encinitas. You there? Hi. Oh, Joe as in Joanne. Jolene.
It was Joe, but now it's Melina from the G-Spot in Carlsbad. It was Joe, but during the commercial break, he turned into Melina? Joe decided to go do something else here at the G-Spot. Well, I mean, obviously we're at the G-Spot. What do you expect? What the hell? Are you related to Other Mother? Yeah. So Joe called in, and he was going to play, but now he can't play, so he handed the phone to you, and he said, you play. Right. Because it's Melina. I mean, come on. I'm Melina. Right. I'm confused. Where is she? I'm confused. She's at the G-Spot. What is that? I don't know. I have no idea. What is that? What is it? Fun place. What's Melina? No, where you are located currently, and you don't have to say it again. G-Spot in Carlsbad? This is a classic. Is it a concert bar? Is it a bar? Yeah, it's a bar and grill. It's early. It's 9.38 in the morning. Are you in Ireland? Are you watching World Cup somewhere? Crazy. Okay. All right. Well, here's how it works. She's gone. Now we lost her. She's gone. She was on hold for an hour. Was she really? Yeah, pretty much. Oh, my gosh. M1 Leonidas from La Mesa. Are you there? Wow. I'm here, buddy. Yes. Are you partying at the G-Spot? Oh, man. Don't I wish. All right.
I'm actually at work here in La Mesa right now. Oh, my God. All right, well, here's what we do. I'm going to tell you what Sienna is going to sing, and you have to tell us whether or not you think she actually knows the song. Because what she's going to do is sing it karaoke. It'll come up in front of her on a computer screen, and she'll have to, on the spot, try to sing the song. Yep. I have the words, but... And here's what I'll tell you. She doesn't know... very much like rock music from the 70s, 80s, or even 90s in a lot of cases. I was born in 1985. This is true. Right. So I'm going to tell you what she's going to attempt to sing, and you've got to tell me whether or not you think she'll know it. Okay, let's do this. The police walking on the moon. Not a confidence in her, but maybe not this song. I will say 150%. There is no way. That she will know walking on the moon from the police. But I could be surprised and she actually knows it for some weird reason. Right. I concur with you, Mike. Okay. Jay, what do you think? I think there's no way she's going to know this. All right. Wait, so all of you guys say no? Yes. We all say you will not. We know you. Thanks for the confidence, guys. Leonidas, if she doesn't know it, then you're a winner. Okay. Are you ready, Sienna? I'm ready. Let's do this. Steps are what you take.
Walking on the moon. Oh, my God. What the heck? I don't break. Walking on the moon. This is higher than I want to sing. We could walk forever. Walking on the moon. Dang it. Wow. We could live, too. Walking on. Walking on the moon. She nailed it. She nailed it. Oh, my God. How did you know? Yes, yes, yes. One for one. Holy cow. Maybe you guys have a little confidence. Maybe we do. How did you know that? Sienna, just a cap to you. Pure awesome sauce. I was just backhanded by confidence. Oh, my gosh. Awesome sauce. It doesn't happen often. Sorry, Leonidas. Sienna, how did you know that song? I think my dad or something. I don't know. I like the police. That's the wild card. The dad. The dad card. He's a big time rock and roll. Yeah, and sometimes she knows, and we had no idea. Damn it. M1 Jordan from Lemon Grove. Are you there?
Hey, how you guys doing? Good. Okay. Well, that threw us for a loop. We didn't think she'd know it. He's all messed up now. I know. He's like, I don't know what to say. All right. 50-50. I'm feeling confident. All right. So here's your next one. The next one is NXS needs you tonight. Do you think she'll know it? No. I don't. Thanks, man. Now, listen. I'm telling you, two minutes ago, I would have said no freaking way. Yeah. I am questioning it. But I'm going to say no way her dad was in excess. Agreed. Agreed. No way. No way. I think she knows it. You think she knows it? It's in excess. Her husband's like 50, though, too. He's 38. Yeah, it'd be on his iPod. He's actually younger than my wife. All right, so Jordan is saying, Jordan, what was your official answer? It's hard. It's like life or death. It is.
I'll say no. You say she does not know it. Yeah. I think you're crazy. All right. Sienna, are you ready? You know it. All right. Here we go. All you got is this moment. Oh, my God. The 21st century was yesterday. You can care all you want. I don't know. Uh-uh. Everybody does. Yeah. That's okay. Yeah. No. No. No. It's hard to say words. You know how it highlights along? I thought she had it the very first line, but then just went down. You really don't sound good when you sing a song you don't know. That's true. I'm sorry. That is tough to do. Jordan, you won. You won. You're welcome, my friend. Chicken dinner, literally. Let's see. Up next is M1JMac from Miramar. Are you there? Yes, I am. Okay. Man.
One for two. What do you think? Will she know Duran Duran save a prayer? Oh, if you say hungry like the wolf for sure, but no, I don't think so. Okay. All right. All right. So you say no. I'm thinking. You guys are so into this. I know it. I know it. I am like, I'm even trying to read Sienna, but she doesn't give me any hints. I just laugh every time. I will say, I'm going to say she knows it. I think you are out of your mind. Really? There is no chance. I'm saying no way as well. No chance. So the only person that thinks she knows it is me. Is you. Oh, gosh. Sienna, are you ready? Yes. Here we go. You saw me standing. Great. Corner of a main street. Nope. And the lights are flashing on your. On your windowsill. Yeah, that's negatory, my friend. No, ma'am. That is a big no. Was I close? You were nowhere near close. I thought it sounded not that bad. Nope. However, you, J-Mac, are a winner because you guessed right. She don't know it. Everyone guessed against me. Except me. Except Mike. No, for every caller. Yeah, every caller. Hang on, J-Mac. You're a winner.
Hang on a second. Very well done. Very, very well done. 570-1949. You look like an idiot every day. Yes, yes, I do. Yeah, I do. I do every day. I do. 570-1949 is our number, and you can give us a call if you would like for Woodsy. Gorgeous. Guy likes Elvis. He's doing his bit. Yeah, he is. Elvis is doing his bit. He's good. Still velveting. Still velvet voice. So this is pretty good. When we come back. I have Wesley Snipes talking to Larry King about his tax evasion, which is fascinating to me because I've always wondered, how does a famous person get popped for tax evasion? I know. Don't they have people? Sometimes their people aren't great people. They're not good? Yeah. All right, so you'll hear about it next.
Our guy Jared is the greatest. He did our t-shirt, which we are going to be giving away during the Mikey-thon. And it is an awesome t-shirt, man. He does graphic design. He did the Mikey Show website. He did the... pamphlet and brochure for Woods and his wife Jamie when they were looking for an adoption mom. Somebody that would be an adoption mom. They got somebody very quickly and have somebody right now who potentially will be the mother that gives birth to the baby that you adopt. Really incredible.
About to be a daddy. Oh, boy. That's right. And if everything goes as planned, it'll be March. Yeah. March daddy. Woods will be a daddy. Oh, my God. Every time we talk about it. It's crazy. I know it. It is crazy. It's pretty amazing. Yep, it is. We're stoked. Every day is rad. We're, you know, Jamie talks to her every single day. Yeah. Every day. That is so great. She's super cute. She's cute. Yeah. Very cute girl. Very sweet. You know, good family. The whole thing. Just, you know, got in a little trouble. Lives in Colorado. Lives in Colorado. Got in a little trouble and, you know, we are happy to help. Yeah. Yeah. That's pretty amazing. It's pretty amazing. That's pretty nuts. So, and listen, that brochure was the brochure that she saw. Yes, that's the one she saw along with a few other ones. And, you know, we wanted something different. We really did. We wanted the rest of them are kind of stuck. You know, they really look stuck and kind of not going to be a D or anything, but kind of plain. We wanted to stand out. And that was key, you know, for us. And, dude, he, Jared did it in like 10 minutes and he sent it back later that day. We were like, oh, my God, this is the greatest thing we've ever seen. Jared did a new logo for my husband, Todd, too.
Todd emailed him. Like an hour later, he had like 10 different designs that he had done. That's great. Todd's like, oh my gosh. And they're amazing. Amazing. They are really, really good. Like that's the thing about it. So if you want to see Jared's website, it's createyourdesignonline.com. Dot com. And he's the guy that does our stuff. And he'll be here during the Mikey-thon. He's basically going to come and camp here with us. Yeah. So that he'll be available for us to. You know, do all of the stuff. Of course he is. That's so killer. Yep. So it's going to be great, man. It's going to be really, really cool. Anyway, so you can find him at createyourdesignalign.com. Tonight, by the way, the 8 o'clock album is John Lennon Imagine. And the reason is because today is the 30th anniversary of John Lennon's death. And so... Sad day. Yeah. Starting at 10, we're going to play a John Lennon song every hour right up until tonight. It's going to be pretty cool. Tune into that. How does somebody get busted for tax evasion when they are a very, very famous person? I'll never get that. Wesley Snipes says that the media is...
misrepresenting things. Larry, one of the things I want to say right off the bat is that there have been some egregious and very malicious efforts to misreport the facts of this case. I just want to clear the air and I want to set the record straight for the sake of my family, the sake of my wife, the sake of the people who depend on me and trust me and have believed in me for so many years, the sake of the communities that I contribute to. and the efforts and goodwill that I've been trying to put forth around the world. Okay. He goes on to say that he has never been charged with anything. What are the mistakes? Well, for a start, Larry, I was never charged with tax evasion. I've never been a pro-tax protester. I never took the position of being a tax protester. And the press... has continued to report that that's exactly what I was doing. They've also reported that I was charged with tax evasion. These things are completely false, Larry. What were you convicted of? I was convicted of three misdemeanors of willful failure to file a form. Willful failure to file a form. Willful, meaning he knew about it, right? Saying...
What I heard the rap on Wesley Snipes was he was part of this group that was like, hey, we're not paying our taxes. He says it. He's like, I've never been part of a pro non-tax group or whatever he says. He was like spearheading this big thing is what I heard that he was anti-taxes. And, you know, I mean, who's not? Well, here he starts talking about why his accountants, well, why they didn't file. So this is his explanation. Wesley, as a famous actor, you must have accountants. And accountants file these reports automatically every year. So how did you miss filing for three years in a row? How'd that happen? Well, this is one of the things that's also been misreported, Larry. It's been presented and it's been put in a context and framed as though I was a co-conspirator, that at one point I was the architect of a scheme that was promoted by... an organization who were characterized as tax protesters. The press has not reported the fact that continually I have been a client represented by people whom I trusted, people whom I thought had the knowledge and expertise in the areas of finance and tax law that would protect my interest.
This has been part of the misconception that has been perpetuated throughout the media and around the world. So these people failed to do that? They failed to file on your behalf? I would say that I relied on the advice of those who I considered professionals. Now, it's OK. I'm trying to read between some lines here. If I read between the lines, he doesn't want it. He didn't want to just flat out go, yes, Larry. And the reason he didn't is because he don't want them to sue him. Right. But it also sounds like he's going, hey, listen, what do I know from taxes? These people do it. Yeah. And they didn't do it right. Hillary's in here. What do you think? You know that you need to pay them every year. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's true. Yeah, for sure. Come on. You rely on people to an extent. But it sounds like he had people that were supposed to be doing it and he thought it was taken care of. Listen, I'll just tell you from my perspective. And that's his bad. Totally. Because he should double check. I mean, taxes, that's important. I'll tell you this. If I was like a famous person like him, I wouldn't have.
jack to do with it. And the reason is I don't now. My wife, she takes care of it all because I'm a dodo. If your wife decided one day, I think I'm just going to coup d'etat Mike and not pay bills, not do taxes, you would have no idea. Until somebody came knocking on your door. Okay, now I wonder though, how bad are they that they didn't file his taxes? How bad are they? Multiple years. Yeah, three years. Three years. Like if you're paying somebody to file your taxes, how do they like not file your tax? And you have to sign stuff. Yeah. Even if you have someone doing your taxes for you. You have to sign the papers. Yeah. Eventually, every year. Yeah. To file. You have to sign it. Yeah. I can't be mad at him. I love Wes. For three years in a row, you're never signing. She's right. She's right. I bet you can get a proxy. I bet you can get somebody that has your.
I bet you can. Your power of attorney? I bet your power of attorney can say, yeah, yeah, Wesley, we got it taken care of. Now, were they embezzling money from him? Who knows? All I know is I love Wesley Snipes. I do too, but I'm trying to... I do too, but Hillary's right. Like, I have somebody that does my taxes. Yeah. And Rebecca leaves a pile of tax stuff. And it's got like little tabs and she tells me sign here. And I go. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. I would think Wesley would have to, too. Right. Don't you? But maybe you have a good point. I don't know about that stuff, but maybe I don't make that kind of dough. I have somebody signing my stuff. We'd have to talk to some. We would have to talk to like a famous person. Call Sienna's mom. Yeah. My mom. Yeah, we'll see how they do it. We'd have to talk to a famous person that goes... She's an accountant. We don't do it. We'd have to talk to Tom Hanks. Yeah. And Tom Hanks goes, oh yeah, we don't do that. Jay, can you get him on? I got him right now. He's on hold. He's been on hold for 30 minutes, so he's a little angry. I do feel bad for Wesley Snipes, but... M1 Lisa, by the way. What was the word of the day? Holly. That is right.
And you heard it and you called and you were calling nine and won yourself some SeaWorld passes and a Mikey Show t-shirt. Congratulations. Thank you so much. I'm so excited. Awesome. Hang in the line. There you go. Hillary, what do you got coming up? Well, I grabbed some TV on the radio, The Thermals, Temper Trap, Rancid, However. So I'm going to play all those. But also, today is the 30th anniversary of the death of John Lennon. So all day we are paying tribute to John Lennon. And I will play three of his songs, two or three John Lennon and or Beatles songs at the top of every hour. We're going to do it all the way until 8 o'clock tonight. That's awesome. There you go. I put a couple in there for him today, too. Did you? Yes. Lovely and talented Hillary is coming up next, and you'll be able to hear some of that. We will come back tomorrow morning at 6 and do it all over again. The Mikey Show is out. Bye.
