Jay revealed that he and Adam regularly played Call of Duty together, while Woods turned his obsessive Beverly Hills, 90210 knowledge into a listener trivia challenge. Mikey's plan to install another shower light became a domestic argument with Rebecca, and a listener's occasional smoking prompted Woods to defend personal choice while Mikey, Sienna, and Jay stressed addiction and the consequences for a spouse and children. Shannen Doherty described her DUI as a lesson in accountability, defended one early-relationship drive-by as a cure for uncertainty, and agreed to continue the trust debate in the studio. Brian 'Head' Welch traced Korn from his childhood friendships with Jonathan Davis and Fieldy to sudden MTV-fueled fame, then described more than 700 days of meth use. Welch said a profound religious experience helped him quit drugs and led him to leave Korn by email despite being advised to stay.
What happened, in order
Caged Rage Goes Online
Jay revealed that he and Adam spend evenings coordinating Call of Duty matches as Caged Rage and Adam Pig while the rest of the crew mocked their elaborate online-war routine.
The Ball of Doom
Mikey recounted a documentary in which an imperious dungeon master erased five years of his players' progress because they entered a lethal white ball without asking what it was.
Stump Woods
Woods confidently invited listeners to test his Beverly Hills, 90210 knowledge, then sweated through questions about Brandon's girlfriends, Kelly's secret, and Dylan's doomed wife.
The Shower-Light War
Mikey announced plans for a second shower light, only for Woods and Rebecca to argue that a brighter bulb or clip-on lamp would solve a problem he had not properly investigated.
Bad Girl Accountability
Shannen Doherty said her old bad-girl behavior looks tame beside modern celebrity scandals and called her DUI a humiliating mistake that forced her to grow up and take responsibility.
The One-Time Drive-By
Doherty defended one discreet early-relationship drive-by to settle insecurity, while Mikey argued that needing to check a partner already signals a lack of trust.
A Few Cigarettes
A listener's return to occasional smoking split the room between Woods's defense of adult choice and the others' arguments about addiction, health, smell, children, and a spouse's stake in the decision.
Before Korn
Brian 'Head' Welch described meeting the quiet young Jonathan Davis and Duran Duran fan Fieldy, then steering Fieldy from bad guitar playing toward the bass style that helped shape Korn.
Korn Suddenly Gets Huge
Welch said Korn's fame finally felt real when MTV backed a private-jet promotional tour and thousands of fans flooded record stores as the third album hit number one.
Seven Hundred Days
Welch described choosing meth over cocaine for its longer high and using it nearly every day for more than 700 days while Korn toured at its commercial peak.
The Moment Faith Felt Real
After doctors failed to help him stop meth, Welch said a church message led him to pray and an overwhelming experience of peace and love convinced him to change his life.
Quitting Korn by Email
Welch said he ignored advice to remain in Korn, emailed the band and management that he was leaving, and asked everyone not to contact him because he feared they could talk him out of it.

For Bear today. Hold on tight. Hold on tight. We have such a show. First of all, I want to let everybody know that there are six days, 23 hours, 58 minutes left until Mikey-thon 2010. I'm feeling alive. Oh yeah. Very alive. I'll get you feeling alive. Because this thing is going to be the biggest ever. And it's going to be great. And we cannot wait. for you to come down here, hang out. It's like Woodstock when we do this thing. Doing it for Rady Children's Hospital and hopefully raise a lot of dough. Yeah, we're hooking it up for the M1s too. Are we? Yeah, they're going to have like a barbecue pit out there set up for them so they can cook some food. They're doing two big 20 by 20 tents. Adam's got some couches. What? Some TV monitors out there. We're going to have a big screen for the movies. Dude! I was talking with Danny who runs the M1 site and he was writing down all the stuff. He's like, dude.
I can't wait. Now, Jay, did you and Adam hammer out these details as you were playing World of Warcraft online in separate residences last night? We were not playing World of Warcraft. Well, I called our promotion director. I've got some gift certificates for Clearview, the place that did my LASIK. And I want to run things through the proper channel. So I called our promotions director. I said, hi, what are you doing? And he was very... Distracted? Distracted is what he was. And I go, hey, man, let's focus for a sec. I got three gift certificates. I want to give them away. We were in a match, a death match, okay? Yeah, and I go, what are you doing? And he goes, I'm playing video games. And I go, okay. He goes, with Jay. And I go, Jay's over at your house? It's like 8 o'clock. We got to work in the morning. He goes, no, online. I almost fell out of my bed. Call of Duty. Call of Duty. We were in a heated death match. Team death match. Oh my gosh. We won. We were victorious. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
Got my headset and my controller. I'm ready to roll. Question. So you are looking at a television set. I'm looking at a television set. And Adam sees the same thing on his TV that you see on your TV. We are in a war zone. You pick the map, comes up, and you're in a war zone. Not a real war zone, per se. Oh, it's real. It's real. You get to pick your weapon. And you earn weapons and ranks. And so when your team runs by, you can see like a little green, his name above. So Adam is Adam Pig. Adam Pig. Adam Pig. And you are? Caged Rage. Oh, my gosh. And so, you know, you run through and you're trying to. Caged Rage. Woods just looked at me. Woods just looked at me. And all Woods' eyes said to me were, Caged Rage. Go ahead. Finish, please. I'm finished. No, wait, wait, wait. So Adam and you go online and you find like a couple 13-year-olds that want to do this too. Well, here. This is what we do. We set up our own individual party. So it's just the two of us talking. Is that what it's called? It's called a party. It's like a party. You invite them to a party and a game. Not a party that I like. Sienna just looked at me. That was the first time Sienna made eye contact. And she blushed.
Her face turned red for Jay. I know. Like, Jay, you know you're on the radio right now, right? Yeah, people can hear you, bro. People can hear you. It is cool. This is the kind of party you can throw to. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Trust me, this is very cool. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so you go to have your own party. So you go, you just basically, you connect up, you know, we call each other, say, hey, we're going online. Okay, go on. You call each other on the cell phone. On the cell phone. And it's probably like, hey, dude, what's up, man? No, I don't even really call him. I just text him and go, game? And he's like, on. Question mark? Yeah. Okay. And so you join. And he goes, he takes back, on. Okay. Then he gets on. We boot up. Yeah. And then we both come on. And it's like, we get in our party. What kind of consoles? Xbox. Okay, both of you. Yeah, Xbox 360. So come on. And his little thing comes up automatically on my screen. It's like, you know, Adam Pig is online, right? Okay. So then we pick the match we want to play, which is usually like a team death match. And then we go in, and it could be anything from—actually, it's called Ground War, but Team Deathmatch is one of the things. And you can do where you capture the flags in each area, so you have to try to go and hold them, and people are coming and shooting you and attacking you. Woods has a question. Do you strategize while you're— Oh, absolutely. You have to. What's that sound like? It sounds basically like, hey, dude, let's roll to the right. You know, they're coming to the right. They're coming to the right. Maybe your wife gets some audio of this one. A thousand percent. I want—you know what I want? That would be too much cussing. Dude.
I want, like, audio of him and Adam with, like, the bombs going off. Like, all of it. It's frightening. In the war zone. War zone. I tell you, sometimes I'll run around a corner and there'll be a guy there like, ah! I'm like, oh, there's somebody there. Oh, my God. Instead of claymores, you full-on set of claymores where they run around corners, there's bombs going off, and you throw hand grenades. Like, you can pick your own hand grenades, like flash grenades. So, wait, Jay. What I'm interested in is how you two find. another couple of nerds that you guys can it just it automatically you you set yourself up in there and then all of a sudden it starts rolling through looking for it and it says you know there's like five billion people online so it just picks these people randomly that are kind of ranked like you yeah and then all of a sudden it's you know because i have prestige which means you go all the way through and then you start going back through again what did you say you what prestige prestige what is that that's the level that you're at It basically means that I went through all the ranks, got to the baddest weapons, unlocked everything. So you're in the highest level. Yeah. And then you start over again. Kind of king of the nerds. From the ground. There's guys that have gone through like four or five times. I've only gone through once. So you're like prince of the nerds. Yeah, I'm a prince. So you're a level one prestige. Yes. And there are like level four prestiges. Oh, they can keep going and going and going for sure. Okay. And so what about Adam?
You know, he's the same as I am. He's just a couple ranks above me because he plays more than I do. Woods has his hand up and has yet another question. Now, Adam's been here a few months. Yep. What and when did that conversation sound like? Hey, man, do you game? Was it private? We game before. I knew him from the other station, and we used to. It would be 2 or 3 a.m., and I'd be still like, dude, let's go, go, go, go. Now I can't do that anymore. Now it's like 8.30. I'm like, dude. You realize your wife's a hot lady, right? Oh, you know. She knows. It's like, hey, it's my time to relax. It's my sports. You know, you guys watch football. I shoot people with video games. That's fair. That's fair. That's fair. Oh, yeah. Different, but fair. Now, okay, okay, so. I loved it. So you guys are both, again, fourth-level warlocks? Is that what it was? No, just prestiged once. Prestiged once. Okay, and so. Okay, prestige won. And so you're both the same ranking, which means that you can play together, which, you know, like if Woods and I want to play, you'd be like, dude, I can't.
I can't have anything. They would kill us. We could gladly go in. No, what I'm saying is that if Woods or myself said to you, Hey, can I join your party? You would say, of course you can't. No, no. Of course you can't. And the reason that you can't is because you're a dork. Well, they would just wipe us out immediately. We would want you in there. They would want us in there so they could feast on us. Not literally feast on us. But I thought that he and Adam are working together as a team. They are. Oh, but there's other people on our team as well. That are not fourth-level warlocks like you guys, and so they can't fight like you guys can. A lot of lonely people out there. They're not lonely. No, that's just what they like. Can this be the safe, Tree Woods? I am trying to get information from this man right now. Are you? It doesn't seem like me. It doesn't mean lonely at all. Look at Jay's four kids. All right, so Jay. Four kids. So Jay, so you are matched up. with these other guys, right? Yep. Okay, so is it you and Adam versus two other people? No, you can go in and do that if you want to really rank it. But usually it's large team battles, so there's probably six to ten people on your team. And we only talk to each other because I get tired of hearing all the other kids going, well, yeah, she's great. Or they think that cussing is really cool, so they're like, you know. They're cussing. Oh, they're losing their minds. Okay, and so you can set it so that you only hear Adam? And I only hear Adam, yeah.
Wow. And they can set it if they want to hear anybody they want. Yeah. And you can mute people once you go if you. Do decide to play on the open field. You can mute people when they're super annoying. And then the other thing, too, is people send you messages after the match. They'll send you, like, a message. Hey, man, that was really great. You know, we should be buddies. And they can friend request you. What's funny is he's making fun of them. I know. Yes. He's doing the same thing. You know why? Why? There in that world, there's, like, echelon of cool and there's echelon of not cool. I have found by watching a documentary on Dungeons & Dragons that even in the Dungeons & Dragons world, there's, like, nerds and cool Dungeons & Dragons. Dungeons and Dragons. Like, the guys that are cool in Dungeons and Dragons, look down upon. No way! With such, like... Disdain? Disgust. I just don't want to hear a 14-year-old going on and on about... Well, of course not. That would be dorky. That would be so lame. That would be so lame. I don't want to hear a 47-year-old. You'd be surprised how many older guys are on there. Oh, I wouldn't be. I wouldn't be either.
I watched this documentary, like I said, on D&D. It's called Dungeon Masters. I got to see it. You got to see it. And there's this guy that is clearly, you know, he does this for, and this is going to sound so strange. He does it for the power. Like this is in his life. This is what provides him with power in his life. By the way, you're listening to a live broadcast. Today is Thursday, December the 9th. Oh my God. All right, just so people know. Some people may be listening going, is this a segment from like, you know, three months ago, four months ago? No, we're here. But anyway, in this movie Dungeon Masters, this guy is a dungeon master. For those of you that don't know the dungeon master, he's the guy that presides over the game. He's like the king. The king. Yeah. He presides over the game. And so let's say, for instance, Sienna, that you and I, we're going to have a game. Okay. And you come over, and so does Woods, and so does Jay, and so does Cross. Yeah, it's Cross. L.O.B. wouldn't be there because she got bronchitis today. Yeah. We wouldn't let her come. We wouldn't let her come because she got bronchitis. She's been shunned. My brother does this. Okay. Now, here's how this works. Now, is he a dungeon master?
I don't know. I just make fun of him. Look at him. He's a dungeon master. So here's the deal. So the dungeon master is the guy that presides over the game. Okay? So what that means is if I'm the dungeon master, I facilitate. Okay? And games can go on for years. Jeez. Okay? Now, here's what's – this is fantastic. So what you do is you come over to my house. And you guys are generally sitting down, okay? This dude stands because he's the dungeon master. Oh, my gosh! Respect. Yeah. The whole time? Yeah, he stands. You guys are sitting there. And he'll tell you in the documentary, for the most part, I'm very cool. I don't have a problem with most of the people, although there was a time a few years back where people got... A bit angry with me. And they ask him, why? What happened? We were in a fourth level blah, blah, blah. And we'd been playing for five years. And they made me angry. And so I killed them. And the guy's like, you know, the documentary maker is like trying to understand. Yeah. He goes, they went into a room and they saw a white ball. Now.
When they saw the white ball, I gave them the opportunity to enter the white ball. And they all took it foolishly. And they're like, well, what do you mean? Well, what they didn't know was that the white ball was the ball of eminent doom. Oh. And to enter it meant death to any character. Oh, my gosh. They didn't know. And they didn't know. And so the guy asked him, well, didn't they not know? And he says, they never asked. Oh. And he says it like Hannibal Lecter. I hear exactly. I know that person. He says it like, they didn't ask. Like Kevin Spacey. Kevin Spacey in Seven. Right. They didn't ask. But you'd think they'd never want to end the game. Yeah, well, he was angry at all of them. He made the call. Now, what the issue was is that... It had taken them five years to accumulate to what Jay was. Prestige. Prestige. Prestige. But beyond that. Way beyond that. Way, way, way beyond that. That's a freaking joke. Yeah. I mean, it took years to get to this point. And in one fell swoop, he killed them. And he describes and he's like, and they went home. Probably.
Near suicide. Yeah. So angry. Yeah. I mean, it's stand him. We need to plan an overthrowing of the government. It was it was so. And so this documentary at the towards the end of the documentary, that group that he did that to, they reunite and the reunite was actually quite pleasant. And so what they decided was to play again. And so they do. And in typical fashion, halfway through it, he reads this letter that he prepared for them where he decides that he's quitting. The dungeon master. The dungeon master. And it is this like really eloquent, poetic, very well. And at the end of it, you know, he's quitting, which leaves them in the in the lurch. Yeah, they're toast. They're toast. And at the end of it.
He does this thing where he's reading the letter and he gets to the end of it and he's looking in the camera and he goes, therefore, I retire my services. Signed. Blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, blah, blah. He puts the paper down and he goes, and that's all. I'm like, I got to see this. I have to see it. Can't one of these guys step up? It's time for somebody to step up. Oh, it's. Dude. I gotta see it. I gotta see it. There's a whole world. Those guys are nerds. Right? Well, all I know is that phone call last night made my night. I bet it did. I was like, oh, this is fabulous. Oh. This is Captain Ben. I know. Yeah, really? Well, we don't really know. Yeah, we're just trying to figure it out. Second of all... I'm not surprised. And I've done it nine times. I'm not surprised. How many naked women have you seen in the last five years? In person. Not at a strip club. Or online. Or online. Or that you paid for. Anyway. That's what I thought. You should play Jay. Yeah. Anytime that you would like to meet me online, Jay, I... Done deal. What is your...
Well, do you really give out your call letters? I'll give it out. What is it? Song Bong 69. Song Bong. I think I have played you. Most people think I'm a woman. Song Bong? Song Bong. I thought you had a lisp. As in the sandals or underwear. Right. Okay. Song Bong 69. Most people that I game with think that I am a 24-year-old pot. Smoking prostitute. Can you blame him? Yeah, no kidding. Why that name? That's what my avatar is. Well, are you just trying to throw a curveball at him, or are you trying to trick him? You probably don't get that reference. Are you just trying to trick him? Why do you pretend to be a woman? Is that some little fetish that you have? Because, Fuli, they will allow me to win. Because you're a woman. Oh, I think they're going to score. I don't think that they might.
Maybe you play fair, CBK. I do play fair at CNN. Do you have all the cheat codes? Wouldn't you like to know? I really don't care. I'm just thinking of questions I ask you. I'll tell them to you. I don't want them. I don't want them. Maybe I'll play that. Has CBK ever written you an email? Me? No. You? I get them all the time. From him? No, I know. He doesn't write me. Yeah. They just click delete. He texts. He texts you? No. He texts the show. Yeah. Our show. 5701949 is our number. The Mikey Show, he texts. The Mikey Show. It's okay. 5701949 or 949mikey at gmail.com if you want to text us. Need to clarify. Sometimes. We are having in studio today Brian Head Welch. Wow. Who used to be in the band Korn. And the last time I interviewed him, I was so...
Scared? No. The last time I interviewed him was at Rock 105 when I was over at Rock 105. And it was a very emotional interview. For him or you? For me. For you. For me. And he's coming in the studio today. He's a scary looking dude. He is. And he is an interesting cat, man. I read his book. I read his book years ago. When it first came out, I was... Absolutely fascinated by it. It's a short book, very easy read. Guitar player for Korn. Here's a snippet of his story. So in my head, I was like, okay, I'm going to accept Christ in front of everybody right now. Then I'm going to go home and snort drugs until I don't want to do them anymore. And that was my way of thinking. So I received Christ at the church. I went home. neglected my daughter and put her in front of the TV. I remember I grabbed a $100 bill. I always used a $100 bill for some reason, pride or something. I chopped up my crystal meth, got it all smooth and powdery, and I snorted a big old line. And I held the bill, and I looked up, and I said, Jesus, if you're real like that pastor said, then you've got to take these drugs from me. Come into my life. Come into my heart.
And I just got quiet. I said, search me right now. Search my heart. And I stayed silent. And I said, you know I want to quit. You know I want to be a good dad for this kid. She lost her mother to drugs. And she's going to lose me if I don't quit. Amen. Crazy. Wow. That's crazy. Crazy. This guy was at the top of the music industry when he was playing for Korn. They were playing sold out. Yep. Jeez. Millions of dollars. Millions and millions and millions of dollars he walked away from all of it. That's so crazy. Yeah. And he's starting to do a lot of, like, changing his tattoos, I think. Is he? He's starting to do some cover-ups and doing different stuff, and I'm really interested to see it. Isn't he covered, like, head to toe? Oh, yeah. Just tattoos everywhere. Tear drops on his face. Wow. His hair is braided. Like, it's trademark, because his hair is kind of braided all the way down. And he can...
flat out shred on the guitar. And I mean shred. The guy can play. For real. He's awesome. I ended up with an everyday crippling addiction to methamphetamine and everything that I said about my ex-wife came true for me. I sunk to the lowest gutter I could ever think of. I would spend time with my kid and I would still be on it because I needed it to function. I'd get up in the morning, have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and snort meth and then... Take her to school or whatever. It was just, I was a junkie. I started losing my mind. This guy would show up at my house with like a gun and stuff. And then I ran out in Europe, had my drug dealer send me drugs through the mail. I'd be tweaked out in my hotel room watching this package come from the U.S. It was just nuts. My life just was like spinning out of control. Jenea had come out on one of the tours in the U.S. I just remember her skipping around the house singing one of our corn songs called Adidas. All day I... Dream about sex. And I'm like going, what am I doing? I'm a junkie. My daughter's singing all day I dream about sex. And I'm going to die. Crazy. Chills right now. Chills. It's crazy.
It's crazy. His story is just unbelievable. He's coming into the studio. I can't wait. Yeah. Sonny from POD wants to come and hang with him too. Nice. So that's happening. And what else? What else? Oh, on the show today, not even sure if you guys know this because this just came down. Shannon Doherty will be on the show today. Nice. She has a new book. And so she's going to be on. She was the hottest on her. I loved her. I did. I loved her. You didn't think she was that. You were Kelly. I liked Kelly, but I liked Kelly, but I liked, well, Tiffany Amber Thiessen was probably my favorite. She was later, though, right? Didn't she come in later? She was later, but the original, I was like, I like Kelly, but something about Brenda. Well, you knew you could probably close the deal with Brenda. You know, so I was in on that. 100%. Wasn't Kelly goody two-shoes? Kind of.
I like that. I wanted to break her down. Creepy. Talking about my girlfriend, Woods. What's that? This is Dylan. Oh, hi, Dylan. I thought it was Michael Jackson. No, you're talking about my girlfriend, Bren. Yeah, Bren. Don't talk about her like that. I'm not. If you make me mad, you know what I'll do? Probably go surf or go to the peach pit. You're close. I'll get in my Porsche and drive away and look like James Dean. That's fair enough. If I get really upset, I'll do a movie called Eight Seconds. It makes about $8. But it's really good. I loved you in eight seconds, by the way. You were the two. Love that movie. The word of the day is nutcracker. And when you hear me say the word nutcracker between now and 10 a.m., then you'd be calling nine. You'll get a four-pack of tickets to SeaWorld. I'm Mikey. That's Woodsy. Lauren's out today because she's sick with bronchitis. And that's Sienna. She's the girl sitting over to my left. She's 25. The man that likes to play online. Likes to play, what is it? Call of Duty. Worlds of Warcraft. No, I like Call of Duty. I like Halo. Call of Duty. Is there a difference? It's my friend Jay. I got a Call of Duty right now. Jay is 47. You've had that Call of Duty since before the show started. That's every day.
Disgusting. And we're very happy to welcome back our phone screener, Chris. Love that kid. He's a good kid. Maybe he drops out of school. I know. And comes to work for us all the time. He only works two days a week because he's in school. Come on, dude. Priorities, pal. Oh, man. Need you. Love you. Ignore him, Chris. I want to squeeze you. I want to squeeze you. He doesn't mean it, doesn't he? No, no. I know. You got to stay in school, don't you? Careful, you got in trouble for that last week. I know, I know, I know. Stay in school, kids. Nothing more important than an education. Nothing more important. That is true. If we could, I would have that kid hired right now. 100%. The Hollywood publicist that we have been talking about that was killed turns out that it was a random robbery by a bicyclist. Something smells suspicious. That don't sound right to me.
Also, a judge has denied the motion to stop that bomb factory from burning today, right? Yep. So what's the deal? Are they going to still do it? It's burning this morning. It's going to burn. It's going to burn in just a couple hours. Okay. And so sad. A second puppy has been found with its ears cut off. Really? So awful. The same type of dog. They're thinking it's, you know, it's the same, like a sister to the first dog that was found. Just churned your stomach. Barbara Walters has someone coming up on her special tonight. You know, she's doing her Barbara Walters special tonight. Yep. And this person denies being a lesbian, but. Willing to learn. When she. When she talks about this certain person. She does break down and start crying. Oh, boy. And we'll tell you who that is next. Favorite Journey song. That Neil Sean, he sang with a guitar. Yeah, he did. Like his guitar was like a singer. He's awesome. Nice pro, too. Yeah, that's right.
Barbara Walters talked to somebody that denied they were a lesbian, but then talked about a certain someone and broke down in tears. And we will play you the audio coming up here in just a second. Sienna, what's going on in the news? Do you guys know what the blue ribbon is when your school gets a blue ribbon? Uh-uh. It's when your elementary or secondary school is recognized for academic superiority. And it just basically shows that your grades are improving and it's just an all-around great school. Right. Four of those schools here in San Diego were nominated yesterday. And those schools are the Los Penasquitos Elementary in Poway. Powah Unified School District, Ocean Beach Elementary, Ocean View Hills School, and Pepper Drive Elementary. So it's a really big deal to have your kids go there. As a parent, it's cool. Good job. Also, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook? Facebook. Oh, Facebook. Did I combine the two? I did. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg. He just signed on to join Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, who launched that campaign in June. It's called the Giving Pledge.
And it's a philanthropy campaign just saying that they're going to donate at least half of their money that they have by the time that they die or else after their death. That's quite a team to join for young Mark Zuckerberg. Isn't that amazing? Warren Buffett. And who's the other one? Bill Gates. Bill Gates. They started it. So it's just such a great cause and just giving it to charity and stuff like that. Can you imagine that kid is in the room with those two? What's up? And he's like, how are you guys doing? I know. I'll show you mine. Yeah, they go to lunch and he's like, I'll pick this up. So really cool. I love hearing stuff like that. Yeah. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, I'll tell you what, man. The most exciting team in this town, it's not the Padres. It's not the Chargers. It's the San Diego State Aztecs. Oh, yeah. Those guys, their basketball team right now is looking dynamite. They won again last night. They beat Cal by 20 points. They're 9-0. And the only thing that stands between them and a 15-0 record. They're 15-0. That's a guaranteed top 10 ranking right there. It's five lower-level Division I opponents and Division III Occidental College. So, dude, those guys are playing lights out. Coach Steve Fisher is doing a great job there. And also, Roger Clemens' trial on perjury charges related to him basically lying to Congress has been pushed back until July. So more time on the golf course for Senior Clemens. That's true. No Lauren O'Brien today, which means no.
Healthy nuts, no nutcrackers in here with little pecans being opened, and we don't get to enjoy any of that. And by the way, don't eat any of the almonds from their woods because they probably were touched by L.O.B. Oh, no. I just had a handful. I've been eating that stuff, too. She's touched them. Great. And those little dark chocolate things over there. I ate some of those, too. Oh, my God. You guys are dead. Not a good idea, guys. Should I have not licked the desk in front of where she works? Probably not. Throw it away. Should I toss these? Yeah, Lauren, sorry if you're listening. Yeah, and Woods, take L.O.B.'s computer mouse out of your mouth. That is not. Why are you doing that? It's not good for you. Probably going to give you something. She's going to be mad. She's like, where's my dark chocolate? I'm going to be like, Sienna made me throw them away, so I'm going to blame you. Well, why do you have to throw them away? Because she touched them and everybody else touched them. Let's just not. I'll reimburse her the $3. I will, too. I'll buy her a new bag. I'll make it right. She's going to be mad at you. I know she will. She does not like to waste stuff. Very wasteful. She does not like to waste stuff. She yells at me for using two coffee cups. True story. Yeah. That is a true story.
Okay, so Barbara Walters was talking to Oprah Winfrey. A lot of women have close friends. Very few have friends as close as yours. Describe that friendship to me. Okay. Already? Wow. She's talking about her friend Gail. She's talked about her a lot of times before, and it's never been emotional. Well, when we make love, it's so special. Do you just cry when you talk to Barbara Walters? Is that the deal? That's a bit. You just start crying? No. Everybody cries, though, when they get interviewed by her. I don't know. Tell me about Gayle. Gayle. What is the deal with Gayle? I just, I love her so very much. Are you gay? I'm not gay. But it seems like. But I love her. It seems like you're gay. I'm not. Yes, we make love, but it's not a gay thing. Wait, if you make love, then you're a lesbian. No, we're just very close. Are you still there? My gosh. Wow. Quite a pause. She is. Is she that cool? Gail? Is Gail that cool? She seems cool. Yeah, sure, but I mean. No. That cool? It's weird. Something's weird. The mother I never had. That's weird.
I would never say that about one of my friends. They're the same age, are they not? Yeah. Close enough? Yeah. It's not like she's 75 and like a mentor. I know. Yeah. She is the sister everybody would want. Well, I'm trying to think of the sister that I would want. I don't really. I don't really want a sister. Back in Fox, I wouldn't mind. It was my stepsister. Yeah, stepsister is what I was thinking. Married into the family. I wouldn't mind that. Be good. Sleepovers. Not my thought, but. That would be good, though. Your thought. It's fine. We have different thoughts. That's fine. Do we? He is. I think we do. I think we do. A little bit. The friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person. I could be a real good friend to you too, Oprah. Oh, yeah, for sure. Share some of that with me. Help me, Oprah Winifrey! I don't know a better person. Why is it making you cry? Oh.
No. I wasn't going to cry here. Oh, stop with that bit. Yep. I promise. It wouldn't cry. It's making me cry because I'm thinking about how much love we've made. I probably don't see it like. If I were to be asked about Sage or something, I could easily see myself cry. Me too. I have friends that I've been friends with since I was born, babies, and I would not cry. Guys, if somebody said to me, tell me about your son Jake, I think I'd be happy and I'd be like, that little Bubz is the greatest. Now, if somebody said to me, tell me why he is important to you. Okay. Forget it. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I mean, the little guy's got autism and, you know, that's been it. Okay. Maybe. Yeah. But they just, what's the deal with quail? I've never told her that. Tissue, please. I now need tissue. I've never told her. Did she just say tissue, please? She's quite a diva. No. She's like trying to be funny too. Kind of. All right. So here she talks about the. So when those, to me, dumb rumors come up that you.
Are gay. Are gay. Uh-huh. What do you say? Well, I have said we are not gay enough times. I'm not lesbian. I'm not. Can we just save that clip? That's brilliant. I'm not lesbian. So we need to write that down. Gay enough times. I'm not lesbian. Say it. I'm not lesbian. I'm not lesbian. I'm not even kind of lesbian. And the reason... Now, those are two separate clips. I'm not lesbian, and I'm not even kind of lesbian. Lesbian? The reason why it irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I'm lying. That's... No. You see, when you guys recreate the movie Brokeback Mountain by literally going camping with one another... for eight days and never leave one another's side and cry when you talk, like at the mere question of, tell me about Gwayle. How's Gale? And you begin crying. I think people might think you're Gway. Could be. Something's up. Number one. Number two, why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life. Listen, Oprah's the type that if she were Gway,
She'd say it. Yeah. I don't know. I think she would. But, man, I don't know. I don't know if she wants to mess with what she has going on. How would she do it, Woods? I'm gay! That's almost passed out, by the way. Here's another clip of her talking about Stedman. Stedman's her boyfriend of a million years. Over the last several years, Oprah has made few public appearances with Stedman. fueling tabloid speculation about their relationship. Every time we showed up in public, there'd be another exploitive story. So I made a conscious effort around 2003, 2004, to pull back on my public appearances with Stedman. I have to tell you that... Why is his name Swedman? Most everybody thinks that it's over with you and Stedman. Well, this is a shock to me, Barbara. This is a...
Most people think that because you go cramping with Gail and not Swedman. Shock to me. I'm shocked. You're shocked. Yeah, because I didn't know that it was still on. I thought it was just a sort of nice friend you see now on this. Is he still the man in your life? Yes, he is. The love of your life? The lover in your life? The love, the lover, the man, the partner, the mate. I cannot say. I'm not going to marry him because I'm worth $80 billion. He's my meatball sandwich. He's my meatball sandwich. That's what I call him. But I'm not, you know, he's not going to be my veal parmesan. No. That I know of another man, really. Good Lord, Oprah, stop it. No, right now she's like, hey, cry Oprah. You cried for him. You need to cry for him. Yeah, you better cry for him. Yeah, you cried for Gail. Yeah, you have to. Or you're a, like, Stepman's like. What's up? You better cry for him or you're a lesbian. Yeah. Stedman gets the remote control as they're watching and he hits pause. He's like, what the hell? You're not crying. And you cried for Gail. Gail. That's a fake cry. You're doing a fake cry. You're doing a fake cry. She knows she's dead. She doesn't cry. He's like, babe, I know you're crying. Why are you faking it? You don't. You freaking love Gail.
Are you a lesbian? She's like, shut up. Here's a million dollars. I'm like, all right. I'm going to go back and play PlayStation 3 with Jay. Living the best life ever. Yeah, Steadman's really good. She's like, I'll buy you Monaco. Okay, done. I do not know of another man on this planet. She's just replacing the name Gail. I know. It's the same speech. He's the... You know, he's the mother I never had. Yeah. And he's also the sister I never had. And he's just that friend that everybody deserves. He is a hot dog in my bun. He's the puppy I always wanted. He's the puppy I wanted. Yeah. He's like... the bait you always want to put on a hook to catch a fish. He's like the picture frame around a picture. She's just looking around the room. She's like the carpet on the ground. The tires on the car. Anything she sees. He's the donut I dream of every night. He's the bra that holds me up. He's the arms on this chair. He's the key to my ignition. That's right. She's looking around. With such dignity, with such grace and such respect.
Why do I swence that you're full of crap humility in it and still hold his own and be his own? What does he do? What does he do? He holds his own. What does Stedman do? I have no idea. All I know, all I picture is. And you've probably never seen it, Mike. You may have. Dave Chappelle does a bit where he marries Oprah. Oh, that's great. And she comes in the door and he's like getting a massage. He's taking karate lessons. He's like, hey, what's up, baby? He's karaokeing at her house. He's like, baby, leave me a million dollars. It's the greatest. Let's see. This is M1 Bowen from Ramona. What was the word of the day? Not correct. That is correct. Correct. You're right. We did the word of the day early today, and you won. You have won a four-pack of tickets to SeaWorld, and that's worth $276. And you also won a Mikey Show t-shirt, so hang on the line, please. Congratulations. Shannon Doherty on the show today. Who else? Oh, we have Shannon Doherty today. We also have Head from formerly of the band Korn.
is coming in this morning at 9. Wow. And Monday we have Guy Fieri, the guy that does dive-ins, drive-ins, and dump bombs or whatever. I love that. I love all those shows he's on. But anyway, he'll be on. Okay, so a guy in Las Vegas, his doctor, gave CPR to some lady, and he was dressed as Elvis when he did it. Yeah. Some people, when they run the marathons, they like to dress up. And, you know, this guy decided he was going to dress as Elvis. It was in Vegas. And he took a little. First of all, he actually got married a drive through chapel. He and his wife got married there during the marathon. Then they stopped and got some food at a restaurant. And there was another runner in the marathon there who needed CPR. There was a whole scene and he was a doctor. So he ran over there, gave her CPR, saved her life. Here is the cop that showed up to talk to him. Hey, boss, thanks for stepping in and saving this lady. I'm going to get this report filed. What's your name? My name is Elvis. Elvis Aaron Presley. I need your real name for the report. Just put that. Elvis Aaron Presley. That's right. Okay, Elvis, what happened? What happened here? Yeah, what happened here in this situation?
I gave her 30 compressions, two little breaths, and then I started pumping on her big chest. All right, stop. Stop, stop, stop. Look, look, dude. I've been on for 17 hours straight. No. Okay? I'm ready to go home. I got a wife and kids waiting for me. That's all right. Stop this bit. You're not Elvis. Give me, I need a real answer. What happened with this lady? Hey, enough. Chief, enough. Clown, I'm not. I'm enough. I'm not going to do this with you. I got to get this report done. You want to go home and play dress up later? That's fine. I got 10 minutes and then I'm off. My shift is over. I'm just telling you what happened here, pal. You're on my nerves. You're not Elvis. I am Elvis. You're not Elvis. You're killing me. Imagine being out and then waking up to someone giving you CPR. It's Elvis. You're like, I guess I'm dead. I guess I'm in heaven. There's Elvis. Let's see. 5701949 is our number. So, yeah, the Barbara Walters thing is going to be on tonight. And because it's on tonight, everybody's talking to her. Letterman talked to her.
You said that without question, without peer, Oprah is the best interviewer on television. And you said even you were second to Oprah. Well, that's clearly not true. That's just not true. I've seen the Oprah show. She's many, many things, but she's certainly not a better interviewer than you are. It felt right at the time. Yeah, I know. You know, I'm sorry. I really think Larry King is a bomb. Oh, God, come on. You're better than that. You're better than Larry King, pal. Trust me. Dude, I really think he's all right. He was. He was. Listen, out of 10 questions that he asked today, you're right. Four of them are going to be wildly weird. Yeah. Why are you wearing panties? Yeah. I'm not. I see panties. Yeah, he'll go, you have a tie on, right?
Yeah, some of it you're just like, oh, it drives me nuts watching him. He'll always find something, though, that no one else would find. That's what I like. Yeah. You know, him, Stern's a great interview. Dynamite. He's a great interview. I think that... I just don't get that Barbara Wall... I don't get it. I don't either. I've never understood it. Why this broad has her own friggin' interview special. What we just played of her interviewing Oprah. I mean, yeah, Oprah cried, but she didn't ask any questions that... I could come up with those questions. She's never done it for me, man. I've never understood it. No. Let's see. Man, we are late. You are late. Why do I want to hear this clip so bad? I haven't even listened to it yet. We're going to hear it when we come back. But when we come back, I got another preview clip from tonight's Barbara Walters special where Justin Bieber talks about kissing girls. I not only want to hear it, I kind of have to hear it. I want to hear him talk about kissing girls. And I don't know why. I'm like, I want to know. I want to know what he says. So we'll do it when we come back. It's a good one. There's a football game on tonight. There is.
Indianapolis Colts facing the Tennessee Titans. Don't you hate it when you got a defense and they're playing a guy that you have on offense in your fantasy football? Yes. I don't have a choice. Can't pick up another D. Can't. They all stink. Do they? Yeah, they stink. Play the matchups, dude. Pick whoever's playing Cincy or something. I wanted to. Got nothing? Dude, they're all playing like, you know. I got, if I wanted to, I could start the Rams against the Saints. No thanks. Don't want to. Love that fantasy football. Makes $40 million a year in the United States. Insane. I'm out of the race. Mikey is in. Great. I beat you, though. That's okay. I'll be done this weekend because I'm playing a real good team. I can always hang my hat on the fact that I did beat you head-to-head. You did. And you bring that up. Yep. What's up? Shannon Doherty's on at 7.50 this morning. I'm nervous. Don't be scared. I'm nervous. I'm nervous. Different reasons than you. Really? Yeah. Why are you nervous? Because she's hot. I am not nervous for that reason. And I had a crush. Such a crush on her when I was a kid. I'll pull the curtain back. Why? I'm nervous. Why? I think she's going to be combative.
Oh, for sure. Oh, God. She seems kind of aggressive. That's her thing. No, it's not. Oh, my gosh. It used to be. You don't believe it is anymore. I think she's been really sweet because she's promoting her book. You know what I'm afraid of? What? That she doesn't want to talk about this and she doesn't want to talk about that. And if I bring this up, she's going to- I feel like she's probably burnt out on anything 90210. Oh. And when we play that music, she's going to go, oh. Oh, I already thought I won't play it. Yeah. I already thought to myself, I won't play it when I go into the interview because it would offend her. Yeah. So I got to get it out of my system now. Oh, great. Here we go. A bunch of guys to think about. Yeah, right. Yeah. I'm like, hi, Shannon. And she's like, you're going to play that? Yeah. That's what I think. Oh, God. That's what I think. I'm nervous. I wouldn't do it. You can't live your life thinking that you should have done something different or made different decisions. You just have to learn from the decisions that you made. It's a great point, Shannon. It's a great point. It's kind of my motto. I don't regret any of the decisions I made about my career, about my personal life. What's the name of her new book there, Mikey? I know it. Listen. Yeah. The name of the book is Badass. Oh, yeah. A hard-earned guide to living life with style and the right attitude. Really? What do you think that book's going to do? Well, here's the thing. Wait, wait, wait. In fairness to Shannon, whom I do believe was the prettiest of the girls on 90210.
pre-Amber Thiessen. Because Amber Thiessen came along way into the show. Foxy. I thought you liked the old girl. Besides Andrea Zuckerman. Yeah, I say that. Who was 65 at the time. I know. I say that as a joke, but I did think that... Do you? No, no, no. Honestly, what I will tell you about Andrea Zuckerman is that I didn't think that she was unattractive. You thought that you could get her. That's why you liked her. Yeah. But if I had to... But if I had to pick, if somebody said, who's the prettiest girl on 90210? Shannon Doherty. Well, you know, Andrea Zuckerman did, in fact, marry a Latino in the show, so you probably might have had a leg up. That's right. Jesse, the bartender. What? How many episodes have you seen? All of them. I've seen, like, three. All of them. Every season? Every season. Not the new ones, but... Pretty cool. Yeah. Everyone. Never saw a single episode. Yeah, you were too busy playing video games. Yeah. I was too busy dating real girls. Were you? Yeah. Oh, I wasn't. No, you weren't. You were on your third kid by then. Early 90s. See? She's a real girl. Exactly. I think I was too young. I was never into it. I watched some of season one later on once the whole thing was done. I grew sideburns because Dylan and Brandon had sideburns. That's why I grew them. Oh, dude. I remember that Dylan and that 90210 thing.
Started the sideburn era. Because sideburns were a big player for a while. Because I used to have the hair cut right above the ear, and I looked like an idiot. And then those guys started rolling out. I'm like, that looks pretty rad. So I started trying to grow sideburns. And still am trying at 35. Did you guys ever think? Because Brian Austin Green, outside of that show, was able to get girls. Yeah, what's up, man? Pretty girls. Megan Fox, player. He just married Megan Fox. Yeah. Surprise? Yes. Yeah. It's like St. Vanilla Ice. Yeah, he's a little gangster. I hated him. He's the only one I didn't like. And people used to tell me I looked like him, so it used to infuriate me. I never thought David Silver on the show Beverly Hills 90210 was like a hot dude. I thought he was supposed to be nerdy. He was. In the beginning, but then he grew into himself. But then he got cool. Yeah.
Like I said, I don't know the show very well. Yo, girl, come on down to the pit after dark. I'll be spinning tonight. Yeah. Really? He doesn't talk like that. Yes, he did. He did? Yes, he's a little gangster. I don't remember that he did. I do. Who are you talking to? I'll go head-to-head on 90210 trivia with anybody. Write that down. Let's try it. Somebody try to stump Woods right now in 90210 trivia. What do we got as a prize? I would love it. Jay? We have, let's see, let me get something up here. Interpol tickets. I'll find. I'll find. Well, all they have to do is somebody has to call and try to stump Woods. If you think that you know some 90210, and we're talking about the original, not like the new one that came out. But if you think you know some 90210 trivia. Try to get the kid. Try to get the kid. 570-1949. Some questions, too. You want to throw some in, Mike? Ask him one. Okay. What are the names of all three women Brandon had serious relationships with while in college? Emily Valentine. You're rad. Emily Valentine. Kelly Taylor. His first names. You're already wrong. No, was Emily not in there? That was high school. That was high school. Kelly. Kelly Taylor. That's right. Kelly Taylor. I cannot remember. I can see her face. I see her face. I can't remember her name. What was it? There's two more girls.
Starts with an S and one starts with a T. You're failing miserably. No, I can see it. I can see them. I just don't remember the names. It's Kelly, Susan, and Tracy. Susan! That's the one I was thinking of. I don't remember Tracy. Okay. Somebody got me? M1 JP from North County. Good morning. It was a Porsche. It was a Porsche. It was a black Porsche. I think it was a Spyder. Same one James Dindro. They tried to make him too James Dean. They were trying to make him James Dean. It was kind of lame. M1 Mariana from Chula Vista. Are you there? My heart's racing. Yes, I am. You got a question? Go ahead. All the girls have a sleepover at Brenda's house one time. Okay. And they all start telling each other their big secrets, and they all start bonding like that. And then Kelly tells a super shocking thing.
secret to all the girls. It's just herpes. No. Not funny. Dude. I don't know. This is one of the way early ones, isn't it? Kind of. Not that early. It was around the... She was raped. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Gosh, Woods. He's doing a lot of fist punches right now. And, hey, Mikey is an honest man. My computer is not open. There is no laptop. I'm not searching for anything. In fact, he was really worried when he started that question. I did. My heart was racing. My wife is on the line and wants to try. Oh, boy. Hi, babe. Oh, my favorite show. Mine, too. When I was calling in, I didn't hear some of the questions, so hopefully this isn't a repeat. All right. But what was Dylan's wife's name? Her name was, she was played by Rebecca Gayhart. Woods is now standing up. He's standing up. He's got his hands on his waist. Oh, he's bending over, got hands on his knees. What's her name? What's her name? What's her name? Played by Rebecca Gayhart. I want to say it's Sonny, but it's not Sonny. Her dad was in the mafia. Rebecca Gayhart played her. She's hot. It's on the tip of my tongue. Dylan's wife. It's on the tip of my tongue.
Give him a second. Antonia. Antonia. Oh, my God. What did they call her, though? He had a nickname for it, didn't he? Well, they called her Tony. Tony. That's it. Tony. I said Sonny. What happened to her? And then what happened to her? She died. She blew up, didn't she? Blew out. She blew up. Didn't the car blow up? No, no. Her dad, the mafia guy, he was going to try to put a hit on Dylan, but she was driving Dylan's car. That doesn't sound stupid at all. And it blew up, right? That doesn't sound dumb at all. They shot her because they thought it was Dylan. Yes. Love it. Her own dad killed her. Tony. Tony. Antonia. What's her last name? What's her last name? I don't remember. God, it's going to be nuts. But here's the thing. I can see all these episodes, and I know exactly what went down. Love you, babe. Love it. I love it. All right. M1ET for Mission Valley. Baby. The names kill me. Gabriel. Nope. Damn it. You win. You win. We'll give him a pair of Interpol. What was it? Hannah. Hannah. Very nice. Hannah or Hannah? Hannah. Hannah with an H. Hannah with an H. Good job. You got me. You got him. That was great. I could do that all day.
Maybe we do that during Mikey-thon. I could not. I need to polish up. Let me polish up and I'll be all the way in. Well, Mikey-thon, you have a week. That's true. A little less. Oh my gosh, a week from today. I'd be in on 90210 trivia. It's funny. I wonder if there's any show that I would be good at. I don't think so. I'm good at a lot of shows. Like The Sopranos. Literally. Try your best. We'll do that during the morning. On Sopranos trivia. I've seen everyone 50 times. Wow. All right. I'm going to take two calls right now. Okay. Deepest Sopranos you can go. Okay. Me or them? Against you. Oh, yeah. They're going to try to stump you. 570-1949. Deepest Sopranos trivia. We've got movie tickets to Faster. Do we have any Interpol left? Nope. That was it. Okay. So we've got movie tickets to the movie Faster, which I want to see. Do you? 570-1949. I do. If you've got Sopranos stuff, call us. All right, in the meantime, Justin Bieber talking to Barbara Walters about kissing girls. One of the ten most fascinating people. So recently there was a picture taken of you and a girl in the backseat of a car. All kinds of fuss. What were you doing? We were making a baby. We was kissing, man. It wasn't no thing, Barbara. I was kissing her. Tell me more. Well, I was just, I don't know.
I was just kissing her. See, she had opened her mouth and then I had opened my mouth and I stuck my tongue down her throat. That's how it be. That's just how it do. You know, when you're on tour and, you know, bees be walking up to you and they want a taste, man. You say, what's up, girl? Come on back in my limo. Did you just say that's how it do? Yeah, that's how it do. That's how I do. That's how I do. When you're in the back of the car? Of the limo, yeah. Do you use protection? No, not at all. Why? I'm 16, man. But if you're 16, you can still produce a... Baby. No, no. My piece is very tiny. I'm still waiting, you know. That's why I sing so high, but I talk so deep, you know. Okay. Okay. My sister met Justin Bieber backstage at his concert when he came to San Diego. And she got backstage, got to take a picture with him. Bet she did. I know. Both my sisters love him. And she said she was towering over him. In fact, they weren't even allowed to use their own cameras. Later on, on a website, they had to, like. you know, get the pictures from there later. And he was taller. Yeah, girl. You know, I have my ages. My pituitary gland hasn't kicked in yet, but I'd be waiting. You know, girl, I'd be waiting. She said he looks like he's 13. That's right. Little. That's right. I take pituitary pills. Yeah, I take pituitary pills. Yeah. It's called pitocin. It's called pituitatocin. It's called pituitatocin. Yeah. And I take it to try to activate my pituitary gland. I take a triple dose is what I do.
My doctor said, the more you take the pertussis to Tosin, the better your chances of everything getting bigger. Yeah, I'm still hairless, too, so I'd be waiting for that. I found one under my arm, and I was excited, but I'd be waiting. I keep be waiting. I got so excited, I plucked it, and I put it in a scrapbook. To me, it look like a leprechaun to me. Underneath it, written with a Sharpie, just says, first one. It says, first of many. First of many to come. It says on there, it says first, but definitely not the last. Ain't my first, ain't my last. Were you upset or surprised that there were the pictures? I don't know. I just, I didn't even know anyone was taking pictures. It just kind of happened. And I don't know. It's not really weird. Is it weird? No. I think every 16-year-old kisses girls, right? So that's nothing out of the ordinary. Now, of course, I kissed seven to nine at the same time, but that ain't weird, is it? Which is different. And they'd be 35 years old, so that's a little weird. Don't most 16-year-old kids that got discovered on YouTube and have sold 14 million records and toured the universe, don't most of those guys that did that kiss girls at 16? Yeah, exactly. More than. Okay, so yeah, maybe I kissed more girls than...
Your average 16-year-old boy? Gosh, that kid could literally kiss any girl in the world. He doesn't need to do anything. Girls are just throwing themselves. It'll fade. Oh, it'll fade. I don't think so. It will fade. Because he'll hit 21, he won't be able to sing like he does now, and those women will be older, and they'll realize, oh boy, why did I like him? But look at the new kids on the block going back on tour. And they sound terrible, and they're going on stage for 50-year-old women. But women are still going. Here's the thing. I... look at Justin Bieber and I go, hmm, so that's what it looks like, huh? I go, every girl loves this kid, and I look at him and I go, so that's what it looks like? Like, trips me out. I expected it to look more, I don't know, Johnny Depp-ish? Or, I don't know, but I didn't expect it to look like, uh, so smooth. It? Him? Him. I think it. I was like, man, what are you looking at? He looks like a Ken doll. Yeah. Oh, he is. I mean, he looks smooth like a plastic little doll. He hasn't hit puberty yet. Just wait. Oh, I thought he was 47. M1, Long Bite from Temecula is going to try to stump Woods. All right, let's go. In Sopranos trivia. Go ahead, Long Bite. Okay, the wood ones. Yep. To get by. Pauly and ketchup. Wow.
Woods is smiling so big right now. That was impressive. Well done. Thank you. That was impressive. M1 Mark is calling in from the airport. Mark, are you there? Yes, I am. You got a Sopranos question to try to stump Woods? Yeah. Oh, that's ridiculous. I have no idea. Do they show it or say it? Probably. At least a dozen times. And they say it? No. Oh. She probably lived in North Bergen. I don't remember. I don't remember. You got me. Well, tell him and see if it rings a bell. I've written in cursive. 55 on the front door. What's the street? I don't know. I just know. Just 55. Man, that's a toughie. And you know what's interesting is I do look at stuff like that in case situations like this ever present themselves because I love trivia. Wow. He got me, though. 55. That's a very tough question, but I'll give him that. Really? But he doesn't know the name of the street. Yeah.
It's not the full address. That's not really the full address. It's kind of a trick. They just show the address on the... 55. That is a great question. I'll never forget it now. Hang on the line. Let's see. One for two. Sopranos. All right. One more question. Boy, that was a hard one. Yeah. This is a good one, Woods. Okay. M1 Roy. Are you there? Yes, I am. Go on, Mikey. Good. Where are you from? I'm from the Washington, D.C. area, but I'm stationed in Pendleton, so I listen to your show every day before I go into work. Right on, bro. Give Woods a question. I'd like to know if Woods knows the name of Tony's horn. Come on, pal. Pie oh my. Woods. They actually bought it from Hesh. I can't describe the motion that Woods made with his hand. But it was inappropriate. When you asked the question, it was like that was the easiest thing you could have asked. It was like, don't waste my time. Don't waste my time. This will be a new game. I love it. Stump, let's call it Stump the Dawn. Yes, in. I get to be the Don. You're the Don. Stump the Don. I'm in the mafia. Yeah, we'll do Stump the Don. And once a week, we'll have people call in and try to stump Woodsy in.
Sopranos trivia. You're going to go home and watch Sopranos. I do anyway. That's the thing. I do it anyway. I watched three episodes yesterday. It's funny. I already had that written down for our meeting today. Oh, nice. I had that down, too. Of course. Jay, have we ever said that bit? That bit that we do? With Jay. Well, I do it, too, all the time. Oh, you're the king if it was. I'm the king. I'll have an idea. I'll be like, hey, guys, what do you guys think of if Lauren was to do this character, we call it Eskimo Blue Waters, and she'll be like a local musician? And Woodsy's like, dude, I had that idea. That's what I had. Were you sniffing around my ideas? Yeah, I was going to say that. Jay does it a lot now. We each have to come up with a certain amount of ideas every week for the show. Woods sometimes has a hard time coming up with them. Kids better on the fly. Hey, Sienna doesn't really know a lot of songs from back in the day. What if we do a thing where she does karaoke and we call it Sienna Sings? Jay's like, oh, man, that's an idea I had today. It's always typed out and written down, though. I called it Sienna Karaoke, though. Yeah, I was going to call it Sienna Karaoke. Get out of your gorge. But I like you. But since you said it. I guess you can have it, Mike. It's your show. That Sopranos tribute made my heart race. I love it. Shannon Doherty will be on the show at 7.50. Brian Head Welch will be in studio at 9.00.
A college football player has been arrested on charges of child pornography. And we'll tell you who it is next. I lost my pocket knife. I'm sorry. I did not take it. You ever lose stuff? Yes, I do. You ever forget stuff? Yes, I do. You ever just point out your friend's defects? Yes, I do. What do you think you did with your Switchblade? I don't have a switchblade. You won't let me get him a switchblade. No, I won't because they're illegal. I don't think they're illegal. Switchblades are illegal, bro. I don't think so. What about a butterfly knife? I'll get you one of those. That's illegal too. How about a samurai sword? That's not illegal. Samurai sword is not illegal, but I don't want that. I wanted a switchblade until I found out it was illegal. I want you to carry a samurai sword on your person. Like when you walk in, you have a belt with a samurai sword and it would be rad. Maybe I will do that. That would be awesome.
People would be very afraid of you then. They would? Yeah. What are you looking for? I'm actually thinking about it. You'd have to wear a gi, though, too. Well, he wears a gi most days. Or a poncho. Here comes Mikey. What's going on, guys? Hey, what's up, dude? Samurai Mikey. How are you guys doing? Good, how are you? Good. Man, it's not that crowded here today at Applebee's. No, never is, really. Yeah, I'll take Arnold Palmer, and can you go light on the lemonade part and go heavier on the... It's a samurai sword. How come? Oh! Is that a new rule that you got? More of a policy. Huh. Okay. Okay, fine. Put it in the car. Guys, I gotta go put my samurai sword in the car. That's fine, dude. We're used to it. I'm sorry, man. I didn't know that it was... Are you slicing some lemons on the way to the car, Mikey?
I didn't know it was Samurai Free. Well, in fairness to Applebee's, they do have a lot of boat oars and old canoes hanging on the wall. That is C. Exactly. I didn't know. Mikey Show, hello. I just wanted to call and let him know that switchblades are illegal, but Kershaw makes night that is legal. What does that mean? What does that mean? It's keeping the blade kind of like a switchblade. And it does basically the same thing? That's interesting. Didn't know that. I'll buy you a torsion bar knife. Mikey Show. I just wanted to call in and talk to Mikey about the whole switchblade thing. Yeah, go ahead, dude. You're on the air. Make sure your radio's down. Oh, wow. Okay. Thanks for everything you do. You guys have me in stitches. Thank you. And I just wanted to say to Mikey, yeah, and other companies like that, that open knife, that works just the same way. They're perfectly legal. They sell them at Walmart. Now, does that mean that if I press a button, it goes and it comes out like that?
Yes. Really? Yep. You want to go to Walmart and look today? Go on Walmart.com and take a look. Or we can just go there and look. Isn't it easier to do online? Just go there. It's immediate gratification, though. You can touch it and hold it in your hand. Don't need to. Just look at it online. Wow. You can touch it and play with it. See, what you're trying out for a second time, we've already gone through that double entendre. I'm talking about a knife. First time you said it, I ignored it. I don't know what you're talking about. Hey, you know what? I'll go for it again. You know what? I'm not even talking about that. You need to touch stuff in your hand if you want to buy it. Yeah. Excuse me while I whip this out. Right. Thank you for the call. I was talking about knives. Creeps. Woods went on Wikipedia and looked up switchblades and found out that switchblades are legal in California as long as the blade is under two inches. Mikey. A college football player has been arrested on charges of child pornography. We're going to tell you who that is. Brian Head Welch, guy that used to be a lead guitar player for Korn until he found God, is going to be in the studio. Crazy story. And Shannon Doherty coming up at 7.50. That makes my mouth water. I've contacted M1 Harold, who's an electrician, to install an extra light inside of our shower. Why? So that I can see better when I shave.
My wife is finding out about it right now. Don't you usually have to run stuff by her before you just go spend willy-nilly? That always works well with the women. Listen, Woods. Listen to me good. Listen to me good. Okay. I don't put up a lot of fuss about things, don't I? Don't you? Don't you? But you know what I always do? What? I always end up going with the woman. I always end up going with a woman. I always end up deferring to the woman. Happy wife, happy life. This is something that has been on my mind for quite a while. You think you are, but you're not. Woods? If you are going to utter any utterances that in any way deter that light from going into my shower, you can go right back to Reach Local right now, buddy. Listen, Rebecca. Don't. Do you like being pushed around like that?
Turn my mic off. So is it going to be on the same switch? Don't do it, Jay. Don't do it. I can't turn my mic off. Hey, is it going to be on the same switch that already exists in the bathroom? I knew he was going to ask that. Why? What's the difference? You know why? More power? No, no, no. What? Harold already told me that if I put it on a different switch, it's going to be more expensive. Oh, for sure. He'll have to run. Rewire the whole thing. So is that what you're going to do? It'll be separate, right? You just want to be rocking the mic back at Reach Local real good? No, I'm telling you. Try it. Why don't you help me with it? Why do you need it? I can't see well. You know who you are. Who? You're like my parents. You're like my parents because, actually my mom, because she's never, she likes to move every year, year and a half. You're never going to be satisfied, dude. Once the light's in, there's going to be something else that you want. Just be happy in what you got. Can't you go with a higher wattage bulb?
Change stuff. How about just a higher wattage bulb? Why don't you just stay the same? I don't understand. Yesterday, I said to Woods, you yawned too much today. Yeah. And he goes, and he goes, did I? And he was like all irritated about it. And I said to him, I looked him right in the eyes. I go, Woods, do you think that I'm saying this to mess with you? And he looked at me straight back in the eyes and he goes, yes. Yeah. So what? What Woods is doing to me right now. He knows what he's doing. Oh, he knows. No, I'm being dead. He knows full well what he is doing. I'm being dead serious. You don't need a new light. You don't need it. Because once that's done, you're like, oh, you know what would look really cool in the backyard is an Asian garden. Maybe we do that next. And then what's next? Give your wife a break. Give her a break. That's a fake bit. You know I'm not going to do that. What? An Asian garden? I'm not going to start coming up with other things that I just.
I just revealed to you that for a long time, when I shave, I cannot see my round little Mexican face very well. You've done it a thousand times. I know I have. Put a higher watt bulb in. It's brighter. I'm going to get you back. For what? Get her on the horn. I will get you back. For what? I didn't do anything. You are ruining everything. You're trying to destroy me. No, my God. You're just. Couldn't he just put another outlet for the light up there? Like, he doesn't need a whole other switch. Just add on to what you already have. He probably wants one. Rebecca will not want to turn the light on and two lights come on in there. She'll think it's too much and it's blinding the children. Sorry, babe. I love you. You're a dead man. I'm only doing it because you. Yeah, my fault. You drove me to this. Where does it end, pal?
Really? Where does it end, man? Am I going to want a skylight after that? Yes, you will. Maybe just put a skylight in. Hey, babe, I've really been thinking we really should get bidets in here. Matching bidets. Let's get them. That does sound nice. I'm not like that. I'm a little like that, but I'm not. I almost didn't bring it up. I almost didn't bring it up because I thought if I bring it up, Woods is going to be a clown. No, I'm not being a clown. You are being 100%. No, I grew up with this stuff. You've got a big red nose right now and floppy shoes. My parents have been married 26 years. You know how many times they've moved in 26 years? 25. And I'm not BSing you, pal. I'm not BSing you. This has been my life. Always changing. I'm out on it. You find somewhere, you stay there, and you be happy. Okay, I'm staying. I just want a light. No, you don't need a light. You got a light. Doesn't bright. It's not bright enough. Put a new bulb in. I will get you back. And when I do. And when I do. Yes. It's going to be sweet. It's going to sting. Okay. It's going to sting you real good. It's fine. All right. Let's do some of this. It doesn't get stung. Oh. I shouldn't have brought it up. She's not listening. She's listening. No, she ain't. She'd have called. Watch, watch, watch, watch, watch, watch.
What's on Sports is brought to you by our friends at Clearview Eye and Laser Medical Center. Big, big day in college football yesterday. A very well-known head coach has hung him up. His name's Urban Meyer, coaches for the University of Florida. Maybe you heard of the guy. That bit. Won two national titles. How many times? With Florida. Well, he had some health problems, and he's back, and they finished 7-5 this year. Though he says it doesn't have anything to do with that. He wants to spend more time with his family. Cut one. I'm stepping down as a head football coach at the University of Florida to focus on family and my other interests away from the sidelines. Yeah, just like that. Very black and white. Did it have anything to do with that losing season? No, it wasn't losing. I mean, it's losing for them, 7-5. Hey, Notre Dame will take that every year. But maybe he waits out Coach Kelly and takes over the Irish in a couple years. But he said Notre Dame was his dream job. Maybe he makes that right. The Chargers' outlook for this Sunday's game against the Chiefs is much, much better now. That quarterback Matt Castle had an appendectomy on Wednesday. I can't imagine this guy's going to play on Sunday. I can't imagine. And they're saying, well, we're not too sure. He may get it. There's no way you put that guy in. That's a major surgery. Imagine if he got sacked and drilled. Forget it.
Forget it. In the appendectomy? So the Chargers will take on, and this is almost more pressure on the Chargers to win now, since Brody Croyle, who is 0-9 as an NFL starter, hasn't appeared in a game all year, more than likely going to be your starter this weekend. More than likely. More than likely. The appendectomy was successful, and the Chiefs said he'll be ready, but he probably won't play. Let's listen to Norv on how they'll game plan cut to. Well, I don't think we're going to let it affect the game plan. We haven't gotten the exact details, but we're going to prepare for the Chiefs. He was going through a time warp. Well, he was lighting his lightsaber. They're an outstanding defense. They've got playmakers, a lot of positions, and we'll prepare for what they've been doing. They've been playing real well. They have been playing real well, and this is a huge, huge game to keep playoff hopes alive. It's a good situation for us to be in. Yes, it is. Also, Mike, There's a lot of times, as a baseball fan, you have to tip your cap. And today, I tip my cap. Are you really going to do what I think you're going to do? To the Boston Red Sox. Oh, wow. You got to. Oh, wow. What are you going to do? Those guys went out. I genuinely thought in the shower this morning there was a chance you wouldn't report. No, you got to. On what the Red Sox did. Bro, here's the deal. I'm kind of happy about it. You know why I'm happy about it?
Tampa Bay is no longer a factor in the East. It's back to being, as it should be, a two-team race. The Yankees and the Red Sox. Tampa Bay came in and they gummed up the works for years. They're a non-factor now. Honestly. They've lost Carl Crawford, who is now a Sox. Along with Adrian Gonzalez. That lineup is going to be filthy. The only bad thing about it is it's very left-handed heavy. And if the Yankees get Cliff Lee, we'll have two badass left-handed starters, man. But, no, they signed him, too. Seven-year deal worth $142 million. And the guy's one of the best players in baseball. Most dynamic, most electric, great hitter, great fielder. Great kisser, I heard. It was a phenomenal kisser. Great move. I mean, I got to just tip my cap and say, hey, you got me, because that was an absolutely great move. And then in a very disturbing story out of the University of Connecticut, there was a lineman. His name is Greg McKee. He is 18 years old, was arrested and suspended from the team.
for child pornography charges. Now here's his, I'll give you his bit. Yeah, how did they find it? I'll give you, it was a big statewide sting, and they got a tip. And they went to him, and he said, well, I did it, but I was downloading it for this guy, Feynman, who was supposed to pay me to download it, and I needed the money, so that's why I did it. Well, they couldn't find this gentleman, Feynman, and... They found at least 20 videos and 20 images on his laptop, children ranging in ages between 8 and 15 years old. That's sick. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. So he has been arrested. And he's 18, so he's going to prison for a long time. Yeah, for a long time, as he should, my man. That's Woods on Sports. We're going to be talking to Shannon Doherty in a bit. My wife is on the line. Uh-oh. Yes. Hi, honey. Hi, babe. How are you? I'm good. If you're just tuning in, I was mentioning on the air that I wanted to do something. Well, I think you said you were going to put your foot down. Yeah, no matter what. I think you were saying it like passively. I think you said, I'm putting my foot down. Got it, got it. Yeah. Anyway, I'm putting a light in our shower. Are you? You mean in addition to the light we already have in our shower? Yes, in addition to that dimly lit candle that resides at the top of our shower. Yes, I'm going to.
add a light that will actually... Most people don't have a light in their shower at all. I don't. I don't either. I do just fine in there. Yeah. I don't even have a mirror. That's true, but in our shower is where I shave. And, you know, I would like to have illumination. Wow. Yeah, because, you know, you had them put the light in the shower when we moved in. That is correct. Yep. That is correct. And silly me, I made a mistake. The light is not, it wasn't bright enough. Rebecca, couldn't you just put in a brighter bulb? Yeah. Really great idea. Nope. They put in the bulb that was safe, you know. Oh, I'm not sure if you've investigated all of those avenues. I would say you haven't. I would say he has not. I'm going to have to say no. I haven't, but I'm putting my foot down. She just said no. That's Shannon Doherty calling. I bet you that's Shannon Doherty calling because that's our backup number. It is, isn't it? What are we going to do about this, babe? Your wife just said no. What's there to do with that? I have to put my foot in. Mike, what if you bought, instead of installing a whole other light, what if you just bought one of those mirrors that has a light on the mirror? Yeah, you can do that. Doesn't work. Great idea. Doesn't work. You know, they actually have these things. They clip onto the top of your shower and it's a light. You can just clip one on. Maybe Santa will bring one for you. There you go.
That's fine, but if it doesn't work, if it doesn't work, and I won't. It won't work. I've tried them. Can we quickly discuss some else, too? What? Well, you know, we had to get a new sofa because just like the light, the sofa that you chose at first, then you want to replace with a new sofa. So we got a new sofa. Hey, hon, hon, hon, hon, hon. Yeah? I have to interrupt you. Shannon Doherty is calling in, and we'll call. I'll call you. We want to talk about... I'll call you back and we'll discuss. We'll discuss. Gotta go. Jay's giving me the get off that line. Yeah, get off that line signal. Yeah. We're going to talk to Shannon Dory. I better play the Shannon Dory music now. No, don't do it. I want to do it before she calls. She's not on the phone yet. That's her. I want to play it before she calls. Let me put that on vibrate. Jay. Howdy. He's doing his job. Hello. Mikey.
She can't hear. She's not on yet. She can't hear. We're a little bit worried that she's going to be combative. She's not going to be. Be nice to her. Oh, turn it off, turn it off. You got her? Is that her? Hello. Hi, is this Shannon? This is Hank. Hi, Emily. Are we ready to talk to Shannon Doherty? We sure are. We'll be live or taped. We are live. Oh, excellent. I'll put her right through. Okay. Yeah. You are live right now on the Mikey Show in San Diego. Okay, thanks. Shannon, how are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. It's nice to talk to you. Yeah! Hello. Hi. It's nice to talk to you. We were discussing your body of work all throughout the morning. Okay. And we even played Stump Woods. Woods is a 35-year-old man on our show. He's our sports guy. He is our guys guy, actually. Yep. He's got a big dip of Copenhagen in right now. Yeah, he does. And he knows more about 90210 than any of us.
Wow, really? Yes. That's pretty cool. Yeah. So we were doing Stump Woods on 90210 Trivia. Shannon has a new book out called Badass, a hard-earned guide to living life with style and the right attitude. Yeah. And, you know, my thought on this, Shannon, was that, you know, you have lived a life that earlier in your life you were sort of the bad girl. And now I'm guessing you've learned from some of that stuff and you wrote this book. Yeah, I mean, you know, it's very, very, very funny to me in a way that people sort of say, oh, OK, well, you were a bad girl because you'd look at what people do today to be on that list. And it almost makes me look like Sandra Dee. That's a great point. You know, it's sort of the limits have been just pushed beyond. Nowadays. So you're saying that if you were the same age now, your stuff would not get any attention? Oh, God, no. I mean, that's pretty clear. You know, I mean, I think they're far more interested in the girls who are going to rehab multiple times and getting out of cars without any panties on. That's true. That is true. Sex tapes. I'm too tame for that.
Or some of my stuff wasn't, you know, bad girl material because it certainly was. Well, what was the worst thing that you got tagged with? The worst thing that, I mean, the worst, not that I got tagged with, but the worst thing that happened to me, the most sort of humiliating, embarrassing, humbling moment that sort of woke me up was I got a DUI when I was 27. And that was just, you know, there's no excuse. You're not only embarrassing yourself and endangering others, but you're humiliating your family at the same time. Oh, I love it. I love that you're taking the accountability. I like that. Well, I mean, you have to, and thank you. That's also one of the things that being a badass does is that they don't make excuses for themselves, and they own up to their mistakes. say, okay, yeah, I did this, doesn't make me a horrible person. It just means that I fell down and I have some growing up to do or I have some learning to do, some evolving to do as a human being. And what is the gist of the book? Is this a book for dudes? Is this a book for women only? I mean, can guys read this or is it for women? Oh, I'm going to read it. You don't worry about that. I've had so many guys read the book and sort of call me like a lot of my guy friends or even just guy acquaintances.
They'll be like, or I'll be walking down the street and guys will stop me and be like, oh, I love the book. And I'm like, wow, really? Okay. I do. I mean, I think it's sort of a book for all ages. It's definitely geared towards women. But I don't know. I personally would find it attractive, even if it weren't my book and somebody else's book, if a guy sort of took the time to read a book that maybe gave them some insight into women. Because, you know, there are a few. things in there that definitely give hints to women of, okay, here's what you're looking for in a guy, or here's the proper way to do a drive-by and see if your man is at the spot he said he was going to be at. Oh, but Shannon, now, if you're having to do a drive-by to the spot that your man says that he's going to be at, shouldn't you not be with that dude? Well, no, not necessarily, because that could just be
Your own insecurity. Yeah. That doesn't mean it's on the guy. And what the book specifically says is that it's sort of only towards the beginning of a relationship, obviously, because if you're in full-blown in a relationship later, you should not be doing drive-by. You should have some trust. But, you know, it could be your own insecurity, so you might as well just get it out of the way and make sure. that person's there, then you can never stalk again because then you just become a crazy, obsessed person who desperately needs therapy. You also have to remember that sometimes later in the relationship, everything's amazing when you first meet the person. There are no red flags. And it's after five years with the same person that there are these little sort of changes that you notice, and the relationship has tilted and not in a good way. And you're fighting every single day. And, you know, a lot of women find out that their husbands or boyfriends are cheating on them much, much, much later. We're talking to Shannon Doherty. How much time do we have with you, Shannon? Do you know? Is Emily still on the line? I have no idea. All right. Well, I'm going to keep talking to you. Hopefully we have time. How many? What is it, Emily? About two more minutes. Okay, cool. I love you. So, Shannon, to be clear.
Do you say that there is a time where it's okay to drive by and check up on your board? To be clear. I personally have done it. But do you condone it? I do condone it. Oh, wow. I do not condone it more than, you know, once. I do not condone. becoming a crazy stalker. In the beginning. Glenn Close and Fatal Attraction. Oh, I wish we had 20 minutes instead of two. I do, I do, I do, I do. No, in the beginning you're trying to figure stuff out. Yes, Mike. You don't know what kind of person they are yet. We've all done it. We've all done it. But you know, it's nice to sit around and drive yourself crazy wondering if, you know, that person that you're starting to fall for is... in that place or not like why you know why drive yourself nuts or just go ahead and and go look i just want you to know shannon that through this entire interview woods has been mouthing i love you i love you the whole time lover the whole time i'll admit it
I'm a married man, but you know what? Thank you. All the way in. All the way in. I'm giddy. I wish we had more time because I debate you on this drive-by thing, but I do. Well, then I almost wish we had more time. I wish we did. I'd love nothing more than a good debate. Maybe you come into the studio sometime in San Diego here in Mission Valley. All right, Shannon. You know what? I'll do that. Yes! Will you? So I'll see you guys in studio soon. Hey, wait a minute. Now you said it, Shannon. I did, and I said it on air, which means I'm sticking with it. I'm going to hold you to it. Next week we're doing a marathon broadcast where we'll be on the air for 28 hours straight to raise money for Rady Children's Hospital Autism Discovery Institute. Check your schedule. Maybe stop by. Maybe I wear a suit and tie to work that day. And shave. All right, Shannon. We really do appreciate it. And we do hope that you do come in and say hi. Thank you. I will. All right. Thanks. I'll see you guys soon. All right. Yeah. Bye. Oh, my God. I can't imagine. Listen, I can't imagine that she'd say that and not follow through. I can't either. And I really hope that she does. I can't imagine that she would say that and then not come here. Do you have a paperback? What? Chill out.
He has had the biggest smile on his face. Like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, the whole time. Like a kid in a candy store. Absolutely. Oh, I am going to debate that woman about that garbage. Look out, Shannon. I think she's got a point. Oh my. When we come back, I might have the audio that defines President Obama's presidency. Hey, listen. I'm I think that I'm man enough to say if the president says something or does something that is extraordinary, I have the obligation to be serious about it and to pay homage. So it's next. And she won't she'll I'll be gone early. So she won't know that I'm wearing a suit, a three piece suit and tie to work. I will take pictures and send them to her. Oh, boy.
Question Woods. What will you actually wear? A suit and tie. But don't you think that's dorky? I think it's funny. And I think she'll think it's funny. She'll think it's funny. And you'll look sharp. Yeah. So it accomplishes... All the missions. All the missions. Question. Yes. What would you... Because the fact of the matter is, Woods says that, blah, blah, blah. But the fact of the matter is, Woods is still a sharp cat. And I guarantee that day, he'll look sharp. Here's my question. Question. What if Shannon Doherty flirted with you? I would say I'm married. Yeah, right. I would say I'm married. I'm a married man. My wife is beautiful. You guys can see her graduation picture over there. She's a beautiful girl. I would interject if that happened. She's a beautiful girl. You would run interference. So would I. I would jump right in there. I would immediately. I shouldn't have said anything. Now you clowns are going to be running interference anyway, and I will just be nice to her. I'm nice to everybody. I talk to everybody that comes here. I'm very sweet. Hey, hey, hey, dude. What? I'm not a girl. You don't have to lie to me, pal. You don't wear a suit for everybody. I would if that was the protocol. What? You want to look sharp when people come in, Sienna. You do? Yes. I thought we were on the radio. You want to make your best impression? Like they care. They do care. No. They'll say, remember that show in San Diego?
The Mikey Show and that sharp cat that does sports. He had a suit on. That was really nice. Look at this clown. He's probably never been on the radio before. So it's not like she's going to be any different than any other guest. Why is that? I'm just saying. Is that what you're saying? She's not going to be any different than any other guest. No, she's going to really remember it because of me. Yeah, but you're not going to do anything different than if we had any other guest. I'll wear a suit and tie. Yeah, you'll do that. Right. But you're not saying that you'll. No, we've had cute girls in here before, and I didn't freak out. But this one's like, that's like I grew up watching her. She was one of my first, you know, little angels. Because there's very few people that you Google image on your computer. What do you mean? I Google image a lot of people. Commercial break. And stare at it. What? Liars. And Mikey came around and looked at it, too. Liars. I don't see it. Is that the bell tolling for me? I don't see it. My wife when I get home? President Barack Obama. Over the years, I've given him a hard time. Over the years, I've stated that I wholesale do not agree with most of his policies. And over the years, I have even criticized some of his policy. But I also have the capacity to recognize greatness when greatness occurs. It's almost my obligation. President Barack Obama recently did this. How are you?
Very good. Good to see you. Welcome to the White House. Thank you, Mr. President. It is a thrill to have you here. So what can we do for you? Well, I am a big fan of Mythbusters. Really? I am, and so are the girls. Partly because we are just fascinated by science. You guys make it fun and exciting and interesting, and occasionally you blow things up, which is always cool. Who am I to deny a man his moment? Who am I? You know... Over the years, presidents have done many things. But has a president ever gone on Mythbusters and asked Adam and Jamie to retest Archimedes' death ray? I don't think so. I have a personal interest in this as president because nothing's more important.
to our country's future than getting young people engaged in math and science. A lot of the challenges that we face as a country are going to depend on how engaged young people are in science, and so I'm just thrilled that you guys do such a great job making it fun. Thank you, sir. That means a great deal to us. Well, I appreciate that. Now, I do know that science requires a lot of trial and error. Part of what Mythbusters is about is testing out various hypotheses, and I think that we've got a big one that hasn't been thoroughly tested. Which one is that? Well, it is Archimedes' solar ray. Well, that is a classic. It is a classic, and so I'm hoping that we can take one more crack at it. If you don't mind me saying so, sir, what do you think we actually got wrong on this? Well, there's one thing you didn't do. Well, we did use a giant solar mirror array. And we did use 300 bronze mirrors on shelving units that were aimable. True, but we didn't use, what, manpower? Exactly. Ah, and the Greeks had plenty of access to manpower, so if we could get a whole bunch of people, like 500 people each with their own mirror, we might just be able to test this. So how do you want us to do that? Well, I'm going to leave that up to you guys. You're the experts. I'm going to stay here in Washington. I've got a little bit of business to attend to, but I expect you guys to go back to San Francisco, figure this out, get to the bottom of this once and for all, and then report back to me.
So you'd rather him be hunting or doing the good old boys that way? Let me tell you what I'm going to do. Yes. Really? So he can't do something with his kids? Apparently. Yeah. I'm on your team, Jay. Thank you. I'm on your team. I don't know what you guys. Yeah. I'm paying homage right now. Yeah. You're clowning. Clowning. For good reason. You've got big feet. Hey, those Secret Service guys that were in here. That's right. Big red nose. They respect that president, man. So do I. They respect that office. You're clowning. How dare you. So, how'd it go, guys? Well, it was an awful lot of work, but in the end, the myth was busted. Nice work. Mission accomplished. There you go. Thank you, guys. Guy got something done. Everybody's smarter. Yeah. Guy got something done. Years from now, when your children have children. They will look back on the year 2010. Many of them will say it was the year of a down economy. Many will say it was a time where we were coming out of recession. Not I. I will say it was the year we solved the myth about Archimedes' death row. That's right. As I leave the office of president, what I will leave behind is a legacy.
Of Mythbusters, The View, Lakers games, Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and Archimedes Death Ray. Bravo. It's nice to see you pay homage to the Prez. Hope. My brother would want to punch me in the neck. Oh, good line. Don't you know a joke when you hear one? A kid. A kid. A kid. You have to. A kid. I'm making the joke. I'm making the joke. Ryan Seacrest. That's right. He was on all those awesome shows. What are you going to do? Come on. Anybody eat any fruitcake this year? No. You ate fruitcake? I've never eaten fruitcake. Never tasted it in my life. I've seen it. Tasted it. It wasn't horrible. You ain't mad at it? It wouldn't go out of my way to have it, but if it was all that was around, I would have a little. You know.
Pineapple upside-down cake? Oh, that's fantastic. Never had that either. Mike's mouth just went so wide open. He dropped his paper. We go camping. I make it. I make it in a Dutch oven. How? Is there pineapple? I've never even seen it. Oh, my gosh. You put the pineapple in first on the bottom of the pan, and then you put all the cake fixing on top of it so then it cooks, and then you flip the cake out, and it's pineapple. Yeah. We actually have Fruitcake on the line. Oh, hey. Hi, Fruitcake. Hi. How are you? I'm still sitting here at Vaughn's in a frigging tin can, so not very good. Someone will buy you. How many days till Christmas? Let's see. Today's the night, so we got exactly... There's like 15. 14, 15, 16 days. Well, I'm getting a little stale. How is that possible? Well, I mean, I have preservatives, but I've been here since 87. That's right. And nobody has fought me yet. I was too. Jay, did you just say something about a Dutch oven? That's freaking disgusting. He didn't mean it like that. He meant an actual Dutch oven. Is there such a thing? Yes, there is. That was when you fart and pull the covers up over your wife's head. That's so immature. No, that's not. Do you have a wife? No, I don't have a wife. On the phone. Friends do. Fruitcake. Yes. Is on the phone with us.
Right now on the screen is a photograph of a fruitcake. Underneath it, it says, on the phone, fruitcake. Well, what do you want? I don't have all day, don't I? You're just sitting there and no one buys you. Excuse me. Fruitcake. Yeah. When you finally get bought, will you be happy? Yes, I want somebody to eat me. Oh, boy. So what's your biggest dream? That I'm eaten. You're a clown. What else are you supposed to do with me, Mike? You're supposed to eat you. I get that. I want somebody to eat me. So salacious. You know what you're doing. I don't know what you're talking about. Why do you have such a filthy mind? How did you know I had a filthy mind? I need to be eaten. How did you know I had a filthy mind? I need somebody to feast on me, is what I'm saying. Okay?
So you just want to... Never mind. I'm here for the take. Yeah, never mind. Never mind. I'm having such a hard time. My name isn't Michael. Take me and feast on me, Miguel. Hang up now, fruitcake. Why? Because you're just a clown. You don't even have any... Don't you have any other questions for me? Last time you called, you know what you said? Don't you have any other questions for me? I don't know. I mean, what do you ask a fruitcake? I guess I'm getting stale, much like you're interviewing. Guild. Listen, Sienna, is there anything that I can ask the fruitcake? What's... Do you have nuts? Never mind! Never mind! Who doesn't like nuts? I'm not a huge fan. I'm telling you, I didn't ask that question for that. I know, I know. I was like, what do you ask? What goes best with you? Coffee, it's good. Delicious coffee, piping hot. Take a mouthful of that and then take a mouthful of me and you're good to go. Just hang up on him? He's trying to. Gosh, he hung up on the fruitcake. Feast on me. That cake just had one dream. Just to be in somebody's mouth. Shut up. Oh, boy. What's going on? Woods, you just missed a pretty interesting phone call. I was in the bathroom at Call of Duty. Were you playing with Adam online? No, I had a literal Call of Duty.
That's creepy and cold, too. Oh, sorry. We interrupt this broadcast to bring you an Indian version of We Will Rock You. Buddy, your boy, make a big noise. Playing in the street, gonna be a big man someday. You got mud on your face. You big disgrace. Kicking your can all over the place. Singing. We will, we will rock you. Pause. Sing it. We will, we will rock you. Buddy, a young man, hard man, sitting in the street. Gonna take on the world someday you got bread on your face. You big disgrace. Waving your banner all over the place. We will, we will rock you. Sing it. We will, we will rock you. Isn't it mud on your face?
It's mud, first verse, and then blood, the second verse, I think. But, you know, either way, it's cold. Or bread is what it sounds like she says. But I would like that singing. I think it's a she. I would like the singing isolated. Singing. Singing. Singing. You know that show Sing Off where they do acapella? Yeah. Nope. Yeah, you do. We did it on the air the other night, Woods, or the other morning. I don't pay attention. Thanks for listening. Yeah. Sing Off? It's the one with Nick Lachey as the host. Oh, okay. I thought it was called something else. No. I thought it was called Sing It Out or something. Well, it's obviously, what they do is acapella stuff, so obviously capitalizing on the success of Glee. Well, let's see if Woods is into this next one that we do from them. R&B, acapella, Kings of Leon. Oh, bet I will be. We'll see. Mute Matt. Brian Head Welch is early. Has already arrived. And so if Jay brings him in, we'll talk to him right away. Used to be the lead guitar player for Korn. Found God. Left the band. And now does his thing. Last time I talked to him, it was very emotional for me. In fact, I broke down on the air. Started crying on the air. And got home, talked to my wife about it. And broke down again. Wow. It was very moving and powerful for me.
Really made me question where I was in terms of my faith and all that. All right, so we are going to be playing, see if Woodsy likes it. Woodsy's favorite band, Kings of Leon. We're going to see what he thinks of an acapella version of Kings of Leon in just a second. Tonight's 8 o'clock album against me. White crosses. They'll be at the Hootenanny Saturday night. That's right. Sienna, what's going on in news? Uh-oh. What happened? I'm getting sick. And I'm trying here. Go ahead. Okay. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego yesterday rose the highest it's been in the last two years. The average price is now 8.2 cents more than a week ago, 11 cents more than a month ago, and 31 cents more than this time last year. So it's getting more expensive. Also, Time Magazine will most likely be naming the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
as the 2010 Person of the Year. They have a poll online, and people are voting for him as the Person of the Year, and he's winning right now. I don't get it. Also, if you haven't seen the rapping McDonald's worker in La Jolla, he's right off of Nobel in La Jolla Village, the McDonald's over there. He is apparently the biggest, the most requested operator in franchise history. Everyone wants to hear this guy rap. In franchise history. Yeah, that's what they're saying. He's working like 24 hours a day. That's what they're saying. You got a raise? Oh, my God. I bet. You'd have to pay the guy. Adrian is his name. You can ask for him. He raps a 15-second rap about the sauce options. In. All the way in. Me, too. Makes McDonald's even better, if that's possible. That's awesome. Had it again for lunch yesterday. Weird. That is awesome. That pig. What's going on in sports, Woods? I will tell you, my man. The Padres have made a deal that I actually kind of like. Jason Bartlett's going to be coming over from the Rays to take over the shortstop duties. For the Padres, I like the dude, man. He's a scrappy ball player. He's been on a winning team. He knows how to win. And he's going to be a good role model for Everett Cabrera, who's the shortstop in training. You know, the stats weren't really great, but he's had good seasons before. And I just like the dude. He just looks like a good ball player. And also, Charger fans, hey, well, you got your team for at least one more year. They said they will not be exercising their 2011 escape clause. That announcement.
came amid speculation that they'll be moving to L.A. in 2012. And, you know, their attorney, Mark Fabiani, says, well, we don't really have a crystal ball, so we don't know what's going to happen beyond the next year and a half. So confidence inspiring. Go Padres. Yeah. All right, Woods, you want to hear acapella, Kings of Leon? Sure. Let's see what you think. Isn't that mad at it? I am. Oh, hey. They're not getting some of the notes. No. Yeah, it's a whole bunch of people. You don't like it, Shannon? I do. They're just not getting some of the notes. The thing I like about that song is I like the way Caleb sings. I like his gruff kind of voice. He's got a lot of soul in it. That, to me, is kind of very vanilla. You know, I'm tough with my kings. Very.
Yeah, Woodsy's a big Kings of Leon fan. Big. So you've got to come strong if you're going to try to do one of those tunes. That's right. Great lyrics. That's from the show Sing Off last night. You don't like those lyrics either, Jay? I don't know. They're okay. That's Jay's thing. He doesn't like Kings of Leon, and he says that it's because he thinks that their lyrics are lame. And he told me the lyrics he thought were lame were Sex on Fire, which I'll give you. They're kind of cheesy, but, dude, it's a great song. I'm about to expire. It's such a creepy song. I thought you would like it. It's about sex. I thought you'd be all the way in. I'm in on sex. I'm out on this guy singing about it. Write that down. Let's see. Write that down, LLB. Chris has got it. Chris is on it. He does it now. I had a kid. Here's the songs that they do acapella. Hey, Soul Sister by Train. I like that song. I Got a Feeling. Over it? Yeah, so over it. Heard that way too many times. Break Even by The Scripps. That's a good song. That is a good song. Apologize by OneRepublic. Played out. Cooler Than Me, Mike Posner, and Michael Buble, Haven't Met You Yet. I love that song. I hate it. Sienna, you like that? Of course I do. I still haven't met you yet. It's so happy.
I like happy. Let's see. Are you interested in hearing any of those or do we move on? We should move on, I think. Probably the best thing. Jay, is head coming in later? He wanted to wait on Sonny. That's cool. Sonny will be here pretty soon, too. Let's see. You ever really wish you had makeup on? You ever have a badass job? Yeah, Sonny from POD is going to come hang, too. That's so awesome. Let's see. I got an email we can do in the meantime. Let's do the email. An e-mirror. E-mirror? Says, what's up, Mikey? My wife and I have been married almost six months, and she's really starting to get on my case about something. Weird. Only took six months, huh? I used to be a major smoker, and I quit cold turkey two years ago, right before I met her. About a month ago, I caved, had a cigarette when I was out with buddies. Wood. Since then, I've been allowing myself to have a few a week.
Sure, it'll stay that way. Mine has. Has it? Yep. Has it? Yeah. Has it? Yeah. Has it? Yeah. Has it? Yeah. A couple of days. She is not happy about this. I don't see what the big deal is. I'm a grown man and should be able to make my own decisions. I never smoke in the house or around her, and it's not like I'm smoking a pack a day. Help me out, guys. How do I calm down the missus signed M1 Ryder? Well, Ryder. To me, it depends on... what we're talking about. If she's being disrespectful to you, I think that that's one thing. If she's telling you how it makes her feel and it makes her feel bad, then she's got every right to tell you. I think when they met, he wasn't smoking, you know, and I think she's not trying to change him at all. He never smoked until now. He never smoked. He was smoking all along and now she's like, no, now I'm not into it. Yeah, but he was a smoker. I mean, you know what? Guy's a grown man. He can do whatever he wants.
He's not hurting anybody but himself. Yeah, he can. He's hurting her, too. He's not hurting her. Yes, he is. No, he's not. If he hurts himself, he's hurting her. Yeah. No, he isn't. No. Okay, let's talk about that. Let's talk about it. Okay. He's a grown man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You say that if he hurts, if he dies, if he drops dead. He's going to drop dead from three cigarettes a week, a few cigarettes a week. No, how many does it take? I don't know. You tell me. I don't either. Exactly. By a few, I'm going to guess no more than five. A lot of people died from lung cancer, never smoked a cigarette in their life. So feast on that. A lot of people died of lung cancer, smoked cigarettes in their life. A lot of people didn't. Okay. But it's known as an unhealthy habit. Absolutely. And she doesn't want the risk. You know what? You know what? Is Sonny here, but they're talking? Yeah. It's just chaos out there, so I'm going to come in here for a little bit. Hi, Jay. I like this. Hang out with us, Jay. Yeah, dude. He can do whatever he wants. He's not smoking in the house. He's not smoking around her. He smells like it. Oh, well. You know, it's a deal breaker. So let me ask, Woods. Yeah. Is it just, hey, listen, it's cool to do whatever you want. No, it's not. It's not cool to do whatever you want. But the guy made a choice and she's not, you know, she doesn't really have a right to tell him to stop. Okay. Does she have a right to tell him that she really wishes that he wouldn't? Absolutely. She does have a right. Absolutely. She have a right to say it really upsets her. Yep. Okay. I'm with Woods then. I don't think she should say to him.
You need to quit doing it. I hate that. Maybe she's not, though. He said she's freaking out. It'd be a deal breaker. There's no way. You'd leave your wife? I would leave my wife. If she started smoking, I would leave my wife. That is a bold statement. My eyes just got as big as saucers. That's a big deal. That's a bold statement. Every time you kiss them, you can taste it. It's disgusting. What's your opinion? Jaybird. If your wife, Kim, started to smoke tomorrow and you came home. Wait, wait, wait. I got to walk through this. Hang on. Hang on. You come home. House smells of smoke. Yeah. And you're like, what is going on? And you walk into the kitchen and she's flipping through the newspaper, smoking a cigarette into the ashtray. I know you. You would go, what are you doing? Oh, for sure. It would be immediate explosion. And you would explode. And if she said, I haven't told you, but over the last couple of months. I've been sneaking a few cigarettes, and I'm not going to hide it from you anymore. I'm smoking cigarettes. Look at Jay. He looks like his head is about to blow off. There's no way. I mean, first off, Kim and I feel the same way about it. She would never. No. There's no way. What would you say? First off, it's a bad signal for the kids. So the kids now think it's okay to smoke. Our kids can have just a few cigarettes. How about pot? That's true. I don't have as big a problem with pot.
There you go. But I'm also not going to go out and smoke pot. Could be a pothead. Could be a crackhead. What are you going to do? Dude, so what would you do if she said, and, you know, I don't know how Kim talks, but what if she said, listen, I'm not giving in. What if she said, I'm not giving on this, and this is, you know, I'm going to smoke. If you don't want me to smoke in the house, fine, but I'm smoking. Oh, wow. Get. Get. 27 years of marriage down the drain because she does something that you don't like. I bet this guy, I bet when they get into it. Oh, it's horrible. I bet they can get into it. She's good. She's a good fighter. What if she said, hey, nerd, put the controller down. I don't want you to play Worlds of Warcraft anymore. Oh, because that's going to kill me. It might. It's ruined people's lives and marriages. No way. Absolutely. There are occasions she's like, really with the game tonight? I'm like, no, you're right. I'd rather hang out with you. Do you? Oh, yeah. A lot of times I'll just sit down. Jay's like, I've done that twice. Yeah. Two times out of 500. It was on our anniversary. My whole thing is this, is that you marry an adult. She married an adult. He can make adult decisions. Now, are they the best decisions? It's not the best decision to smoke, and I'm not saying that it is. It's actually really hard to quit.
But if the guy is limiting himself to a few cigarettes a week, because it's better than a glass of scotch, better than doing blow. It's better than heroin. It's better than heroin. It's better than cheating on her. It's better than killing her. Yeah, so much better than killing her. The guy's a grown-ass man. He can do whatever he wants. No. It's better than smuggling people into the United States. That is true. It's better than nuclear war. That is true. It's better than the plague. That's true. It's true. You're going to use that? Yeah, it's a good bit. When you get married, you give up some. I am married. Yeah, well, are you? You give up certain things. You start to make decisions together. Yeah, you know what? You give up. It's a relationship. You give up sleeping with other people. That's one of them. But if your guy wants a blast a couple of cigs a week and he's not hurting anybody, have a ball. But it's his health, and his health is like a huge deal to her. Wrong message to the kids. How about this? Okay, you got those. How about this? Freaking stinks, dude. I like it. I know you do. You taste like an ashtray, and I know that. Yeah! See, I like it. I like the way it smells. You do. Yeah. And you don't. But what if your wife doesn't? Well, then that's her problem. That's her issue. It's not my issue, man. But now you're waiting until you're married, and now she can't escape. He didn't do it when they were dating. She can escape, and I think it's ridiculous. But, I mean, Pete, it's in a very addictive substance. Very addictive substance. Harder to quit than heroin. Be a man. Be a man? Yeah, learn to quit. I dipped forever. Here's the deal. She doesn't want to.
He doesn't want to quit. I quit. Yeah. He doesn't want to. If he wanted to, that'd be different. You can, absolutely. Rebecca quit. He doesn't want to. And you should quit. Yeah. But he doesn't want to. I think every smoker would admit, I should quit. Oh, yeah. You know, but they can't. They can't because they're addicted to it. They can. I mean, I did. It was two weeks of, it was awful. Those two weeks were awful. I quit for a month. I want to blow my head off. You did so well to me. I know, Woods. I can't believe you started smoking again. So delicious. Somebody was just looking in, Jay. I don't know if they're ready or what. I find it hard to believe that Jay would leave his wife if she started smoking. He wouldn't like it, but he wouldn't leave her. He wouldn't leave her. Jay is a fighter. He'd flip out. Yeah, he'd flip. He'd lose his mind. Oh, man. So cool. How you doing, man? How you doing? We're on the air. Is that cool? You're on right now? Yeah. Hi, I'm Sienna. Hi. How you doing, man? I came to interrupt you guys. Pleasure to meet you. Pleasure to meet you. Let me turn that mic on. Oh, that's cool. I was waiting for Sonny, but he's lagging. Is he? Yeah. All right. Well, he'll be here soon. He'll be here soon. So we're on right now? We're on right now. What up, Sonny? Quit lagging. Head is in the studio with us, and it's Brian Head Welch. And the website...
That we had the audio from that if you ever want to check out the website is I Am Second, which is an incredible website. And just the way that it looks and the way that they've done it is pretty amazing. Brian Head Welch used to be the lead guitar player for the band Korn. Found God, left the band, and has a really incredible story that I kind of want to walk through and kind of go through this because you have a story that's just absolutely unbelievable. You left a band that was, you know, you were making millions of dollars. You were touring the world. You were playing giant places. We spoke once on the phone, did a phone interview when I was at the station that I used to be on. And you don't know this because we hung up the phone and then you probably moved on to another interview. But when we hung up, I broke down on the air. And the reason that I did was because I could hear how on fire you were. And at that time, I was really starting to grow spiritually. And hearing your story.
And hearing, you know, it was so it was so real and it was so tangible and it was so thick, you know, that I got off the phone and I couldn't even talk for, you know, for like 20 seconds or something, you know. And I said, wow, that's what it sounds like. That's what it sounds like when you are on fire, man. And I said, I went home. talked to my wife about it and broke down again and I said, that guy left everything, man. That guy left everything. And I was really kind of wondering in my career in radio, do I keep doing this? Do I keep doing it for a living? And then I went through this thing where I realized that this is where I'm to be planted and this is where I'm supposed to bloom.
But, man, dude, what an incredible experience talking to you the last time I did. I'm just so glad to meet you in person, you know? Right on, man. You too. Yeah. Where are you originally from? And these mics are super sensitive, so you've got to be right up on that mic. Like about right here. Yeah, like right up. And there you go. Perfect. I'm from Bakersfield, California. There you go. From Bakersfield. Yeah. What was your earliest influences musically? What got you into music? What made you go, I want to do that? Metal. All metal. Angus Young, ACDC. Yeah. Yeah, Back in Black came out. It was all over. You heard that? Yeah. And now was there any other instrument that you were interested in, or was it always guitar? Drums. That was the first choice. My dad talked me out of it. You wanted to play drums, and your dad said no. He didn't want the headache. Well, he used reverse psychology. He's like, man, just think about all those pieces you've got to carry around everywhere. And I go, you're right, man. And he's like, guitar is just like one guitar and an amp. And I go, oh. And in his head he's going, it's got a volume knob. Right, right, right. The drums do not. Exactly. Now, so you get a guitar. How old are you? Ten. Ten years old. How long did it take for you to be able to actually play and sound like you were playing guitar?
I'd say a year. I was playing like... journey solos and like ted nugent and stuff like that yeah not sounding great but i was picking it up you know i could tune the guitar and actually play so i learned mary had a little lamb and some little songs in fifth grade and i was like this sucks right so i was like i need an electric guitar and i need to learn some real songs so what was it like a christmas thing did you say like was it hey dad for christmas can i have a guitar did you have you know how'd you get your first one the electric Remember that store Best? Oh, yeah. The Best catalog? Yeah, yeah. I had them. Well, they sold electric guitars there. And I got a guitar from there, and it was just like cheap, really cheap. And then I bought my first Ibanez. My first real good guitar was Ibanez, and I'm sponsored by them. That's awesome. That's cool. So that's the trip. That's cool. So your first one's an Ibanez. You start playing. You're good at it.
And at what point was it that you met? Because the dudes from Korn, they're from Bakersfield, right? When did you meet those guys? Well, I met Jonathan and he went to Horseman. Like, you know what Horseman is. It's an elementary school. I met him there. He was just this quiet little nerdy kid. Lead singer. Yeah. And I wasn't a cool kid at all either, but he was just really like extra nerdy and really quiet. And then I met Fieldy, Reggie Arvizu. junior high and um he was into Duran Duran and so was Jonathan like I was the metalhead I was the Aussie dude they had Aussie and my peachy I drew Motley Crue members on my peachy and everything right and uh and so I met them there and then you know high school started and then I started hanging out with Fieldy again the bass player and when I when I hooked up with him he played guitar yeah and he he was horrible at guitar so I talked him into playing bass that's how he got started did he pick up bass pretty easily
And was he good at bass pretty easily and right away? I was the musician of the Friends, so I just told him, back then, the metal music, the bass would just hit the E string and just go boom, boom, boom, boom, and the guitar would do all the fun stuff. Right, right, right. So I would just say, just right E, right E, just stay there. Right, right. And I'd be going... Right, right. And then so he was watching me do all the cool stuff, and he's like, man, forget this. And he started learning slap bass. Right. You know, all that. Right. And so he just took off with it. That's great. Okay, so you are hanging out with these guys. You're the metalhead. You guys decide you're going to form a band. Did you call it Korn from the very beginning? Once we all got together later on when we were like 93 or something, 92, 93, Jonathan came and we were underneath Huntington Beach Pier. Yeah. And he just said, what about Korn? Right. And he had some stories, one of them I won't go into, but you know, like the Children of the Corn, we thought about like that movie. Right. We thought about a K, backwards R. Right. And he sung about child abuse lyrics, so it was like the R was backwards, like a kid was trying to spell it. Right. So we just said, man, either people will love it or hate it, but they won't forget it. Yeah. So we kept it. Yeah. Okay, so this is 93. How old are you at that point? 23. 23 years old. We were the same age.
So you're 23 and you guys start playing local gigs or how did it happen? You guys got signed right away. How did the signing happen? Well, we started writing songs and Jonathan came down, he tried out and we formed the band and we started playing out just around here, like Anaheim. I think our first show was at a strip club and it was like... All the bands pick a number, and that's when you play. Really? Yeah, a little cheesy stuff like that. We started messing with methamphetamines then, like three of us. We were writing songs, all high on speed and stuff. Then we would get a bus and make our friends pay, get a keg, and say, let's go up to Hollywood. We got a show in Hollywood. We'd bring a gang of people up in Hollywood, and Coconut Teaser, Roxy, all that stuff. Word started getting around in the industry. Yeah. They're like this crazy band bringing a busload of fans. The crowd's going nuts. And so we ended up signing with Epic Sony Records, Immortal. In 93? Yeah. 93. So here you are, 23 years old, signed band. And was the first album Life is Peachy? No, it was Korn self-titled. Korn self-titled. Okay. Was the second one Life is Peachy? Yep. Did Korn...
Did the original album blow up, or was it Life is Peachy where everything blew up? No, it was Fall of the Leader, the third one. But, I mean, blowing up, what do you mean? It went gold, the first album. The very first one went gold. What about the second one? It went probably gold or platinum around that time. It got a little bit bigger. We started to get a little bit of airplay on the radio, and MTV was playing us like 2 in the morning, 3 in the morning. we made it, we're on MTV. Right. But then the record company's like, okay, this cult following, this band, they didn't even like us, by the way. They were like, the guy that signed us was like, you guys don't have any melody, but something, you know, you'll sell like 90,000 records maybe if you're lucky. And I was like, way to believe in us. Yeah, that was, yeah. And so, but they saw the cult following and they're like, man, if we put money into this band, we could break them like big. So third album came out, boom, to the top, every chart. It was the third album. Okay. Because I came to know you, I didn't know you until life is peachy. And that was back in my old days too. For those people that are new listening to Mikey Show, and there's a few people that are new listening to Mikey Show. I've been on the air here for 14 years. I used to, well, no longer than that. I was on the other station for 14 years. But I did nights at Rock 105. It was Rock 102 when I started there. It turned into Rock 105. I worked at night.
And I was as shock jock as it gets and used to play corn from Life is Peachy. And, you know, just I was drinking nonstop on the air, doing coke. I told somebody this the other day. They couldn't believe it. We would have porn stars in the studio having sex in the studio. Somebody said, you're kidding. I said, yeah. We did stuff on that show that even now I think about it, I go, even I can't believe what, you know, the changes. But real quick timeout, and when we come back, we're going to walk through this progression of, boom, this band hits, stardom, where you ended up going with drugs, and then what happened. And we're talking to Head, who used to be in the band Korn and now has a solo career.
making solo music and he's got a new book out his first book's phenomenal we'll talk about that too and uh we'll be back welcome back we're in the studio and uh we have brian head welch in the studio with us and uh he's having to run back to the he was about to check out the view right yeah yeah yeah we'll let you we'll let you as soon as we go to break uh another day at the office sunny from pod's here and head's here that's right Rough gig. Yeah. Rough gig. Just chilling. Just chilling. So, okay, so where we left off was kind of when the band gets signed and things are starting to blow up. When did you, was there a moment that you can remember where you thought, wow, I think we might be famous? It didn't appear to be that way. I mean, we were signing autographs and all that, but it was just like.
We would tour the Deftones and like we play like a thousand seaters. And and it was just like it seemed like a bigger club. So it didn't. But when the third album came out, they did a press tour and MTV said we want to be involved. And we got a private jet and we like signed in two states a day, I think it was. And like there were four thousand, five thousand people showing up at record stores like like crazy anywhere from a thousand to like four thousand. 5,000, something like that. And it was like, because MTV was, you know, corn campaign tour. And it was just, that's when I felt, I called my dad during that. I was like, dad, number one billboard. What's up now? Wow. Thanks for the guitar. Yeah. What did your family think about this? I mean, were they, did they, like, I'll tell you, when I was doing my thing before, my parents thought it was cute. But at the same time, they couldn't listen to it. Mike, when I was a shock jock, what about your folks? Did they enjoy the corn music or what was their deal? No. No. Not at all. And, you know, I mean, especially with Life is Peachy came out, there's a song that they made, or Jonathan came up with that he's like, I'm going to put, it's not going to be about nothing. We're just going to put every cuss word that's ever been, every American cuss word in it. Right. That's all it was. And so.
I remember my mom listened to that, and it was like the most, every bad cuss word, she was like, oh, man. She was like, oh, Brian. I go, mom, that's a singer. He's a nut. Mom, I just play guitar. So it was, yeah, they didn't like it. You had a very signature sound, and it's a sound that you still do, you know, because you're still a solo artist, and it's a sound that, you know, first time I played it, you know, your solo stuff, I went. He still has that sound. I mean, there's no doubt about it. I don't know nothing else. That's your deal. That's your deal. Now, the guitar that you play, did it have more than six strings or was it a six-string guitar? Seven-string. Seven-string guitar. Low B, yeah. When did you, I mean, did you see someone do that and you went, ooh, I like that? Or did you come up with this? Or what was that? Actually, it was Fieldy and Monkey. They were in a band before I joined, and they were, it was like more of a funk band. And they were like, I think Phil D bought, I think Monkey bought a seven-string first. It's a Steve Vai model. And then Phil D said, oh, they got five-string basses with a low B, so we can put these together and come up with this crazy low sound. Okay, so the band blows up, and MTV says, we want to get involved.
And the third album, what was the third album called? Follow the Leader. Follow the Leader. Okay, Follow the Leader. Thanks for that. Follow the Leader. How many records does Follow the Leader sell? Three, four million or something. Three or four million. Wow. Okay. So the success is big. Yeah. And you're touring in a private jet. And in the clip that we played earlier, it says that you were in London. Or you were in, yeah, I think you were in London. And you would have the drugs like shipped from America. And you were addicted to meth. Yeah. Which is a cheaper drug. Because I would have thought, man, this guy would have been addicted to the most expensive cocaine that you could imagine. It wore off too quick. Was that the deal? Yeah. I mean, you get high for like a half hour, hour. When you do meth or ice or whatever it was called when I was doing it. It was like I hit that euphoria. You know, I would get that euphoria feeling.
For a few hours, you know, then he would start to wear off or turn into like a acid type of nasty feeling. Right. And so how long were you addicted to that drug? About over 700 days straight. So like two years. Did I do the math right? Yeah. Every day? Every single day. I did it. I may have ran out for a day or two in between there, but maybe no more than two days. But I did it every day. Were there periods where you would be awake for long, long periods of time? Yeah. And then you would crash? I never went more than four days. I never did no two weeks or nothing. And I've heard that that is the nastiest drug to try to come off of. That it's a really nasty drug to come off of. Okay. So what year was it that you left Korn? 04. Oh, actually, no, 05. Right at the beginning. Okay. And did you know that this was going to be coming for a while and you hadn't done anything about it? Or did you decide and boom, you quit? It was coming since I was on tour with Metallica and Kid Rock, like the biggest tour of my life and my wife.
grabbed a skinhead dude and moved him into my house on that tour and like she ended up splitting I got divorced and I got full custody because my wife was a meth head you know and so that's when my heart kind of shifted from Korn to my daughter I got full custody of my 12 or she's 12 now she wasn't 12 then she was 2 then and so every record that we did and every tour we did I was like thinking about her you know worried about her and So I was thinking about leaving Korn for a while, but I was like, how are you going to leave a successful band? Just work it out. Do something. Work it out. Did you guys in the band right up until the time that you left, all the way up until you left, did you guys all get along? Did you get along with everyone? Yeah, I did. You got along. Inside, I was really starting to dislike a couple of them. Yeah. Or probably all of them. Yeah. But did you keep that kind of bottled up? Totally. Yeah. Now, so in 2005, what happened that got you saved? Well, at the end of the two-year thing, I went to a couple doctors, and I told them, look, I'm on meth, man. And it was the first people I told them. I was like, I need help. How do I get off this stuff? And they're like, a couple of them gave me some pills, and they're like, you know, this will help with the anxiety. Just go and sleep.
One guy I called, and I was like, I have a meth problem. He goes, I don't deal with meth. No, wow. Yeah, a psychiatrist. So I took the medication, and then I got this panicky feeling like a depression. Yeah. So I was like, I need to do more. So I ran back to the drug until I ended up at a church at the end of 2004. With some friends, I was doing real estate deals with them. They were like these successful land flippers and, you know, neighborhood builders. And they let me in. I was making hundreds of thousands of dollars, you know. And I thought it was about money, but they invited me to their church, you know. And they weren't even like all radical or nothing. They were just like followed their wives, I think, mainly. One of them did. And so I went there, and the guy just said that Jesus is real, you know. And he said. It felt like he was talking to me. He knew I was coming. He knew it was wrong in my life. And he was just saying that if you talk to him and pray to him, then things will start to fall away from your life. Supernaturally, you'll have new desires and everything. And so that's what happened. I went and prayed, and I still did the drugs. But I would pray after I did them. I'd say, I don't want to do these anymore. Are you real? Am I talking to a wall? If you're real like that guy said, then change me.
And I didn't know if it was going to work. Like, you know, I was like, if it don't work, I'm going to go to like Betty Ford or something. But I started having these things happen to me. And what changed me was a couple of weeks later, I was like, are these dudes trying to brainwash me or what? And I had this like I was thumbing through the Bible after I did some drugs. And, you know, I was just depressed. Like I wasn't doing drugs and having fun. I was doing drugs to like maintain. To get by. Yeah, just to get by. And I was turning the pages. And I was like, is this real? Like, I don't know if this is real. And all of a sudden I had this like an experience that was like a euphoric, like peaceful, total, like love poured into my heart, you know, and it was, it was so real that I knew that I was totally going to change my life and walk and follow Christ, you know, wherever he would have me go. And it was that moment. It was that moment that changed everything. After that moment that you did that, was it like, I got to find my cell phone. I got to call the guys and tell them I'm out of the band. You were still in the band, right? Yeah. Well, it was a couple weeks because, you know, I had that encounter and I was like, it was so real, man. It was like revelation opened up and God was so real to my heart. And then I fell back and I found some drugs and I fell back, but I couldn't get high anymore because I had that encounter. I was like, man, this is like.
I can't even enjoy being evil no more because this good touched me. And so I threw away the drugs. And then I actually went to the guy that took me to the church. I went to his house. And I said, what should I do now? You took me to church. Now what? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I go, should I stay in corn? He goes, yeah, man. He goes, stay there. He goes, maybe you can shine some light over in the dark world. And right when the Christian guy was telling me to stay in corn, I had this overwhelming knowing that I was going to go home and quit. And so I went home and I quit while he told me to stay. Wow. I went home and I said, hey. I sent him emails because, you know, if I would have sat down and said, hey, you guys, I'm quitting. They would say, no, you're not. No, you're not. Come on, shut up. And so I would have said, okay. Yeah, you're right. So I sent him emails. I go, hey, guys, I love you. But I'm leaving, and please don't contact me for a while. I need space. I need to do what I need to do. And they respected that. Do you think they saw it coming? Yeah, because I was talking to Jonathan about not touring anymore. And he was saying, man, we'll figure something out. Don't worry. We'll do the record. And we'll hire someone in your place so you can be home with your kid for a while. And he offered me that. Who were you closest with? It depends.
there's different closeness. Like Jonathan was reaching out to me back then and him and his wife were really trying to help me with my daughter because I was single. They're trying to hook me up with like dates and stuff like that. Just girls I could go out with, you know, instead of who she's on the road or whatever. But, uh, and they were watching, she was watching my kid a lot, you know, they were developing a relationship and stuff like that. So I was close to them like that fieldy. I know my whole life, you know, and I was close to him. Like, just like, as far as drinking buddies. Probably Jonathan at the time when I quit. We're talking a head former lead guitar player from Korn. Okay, so probably Jonathan? Yeah, I'd say at that time. And so did you call Jonathan? You sent emails to Fieldy and Monkey? Yep. And then you called Jonathan? No, I sent an email to him too. All of them? Yeah. All of them email? And the management. So did you write one email and put them all on it? Or separate to each individual guy? My cloudy memory tells me that it was everybody at once. Everybody at once. And they did all respect it and they didn't call? No, they didn't call, but I got a couple emails back. I don't remember what they said, but it wasn't like, all right, later. It was like, what's going on? And a couple of them just ignored me. Were there any of them that you didn't talk to again?
that to this day you've never spoke to no you've talked to all of them at least once yeah at least once yeah but it sounds like it was pretty it was a it sounds like it was like a bomb going off yeah it was like later yeah we built this thing this band up to this level and uh i'm out of here later right i was just gone right you know and and i haven't seen jonathan since then face to face since You've never seen him face-to-face? No. Have you talked on the phone? Yeah, he got real sick in 06, I think it was. And it was like his health was like, he got some weird blood thing. And it was scary for a second. So I was like, dude, I've got to call this guy. Because I think he hated me or whatever. So I called him and said, you all right, man? I'm sorry for everything I did. I didn't want him to die hating me. But he got better. Did he answer when you called him? Yeah.
And you guys talked and it was okay? Yeah. He said, man, I appreciate you calling. I love you, man. I miss you. That was it, basically. Wow. Wow, man. And then you know what I did after that? Because I was still new a little bit, and so we were emailing a little bit. And so, you know, sometimes people, like, talk too much about, like, push God on people too much, you know? And I think that's what I was doing in the beginning. Like, I emailed him and I said, you know. he's going through something. So I was like, I'm going to reach out and tell him that God loves him and stuff like that. And I think it freaked him out a little bit. Did he write you back? Yeah, but, uh, he didn't respond to that part of it. I just, I think around then I changed my email and then I just lost contact and everything. Yeah. Now I've been there, man. I've been there. We were talking about it off the air. You know, I, uh, I think that everybody in their, in their walk, you know, especially if you've had this radical change. like you did, like I did, you go through this period where for a little while it's like you're a little kid, like a little, little kid that really loves your daddy. Like I got a four-year-old right now. He's all about dad right now. Where's daddy? Where's daddy? Where's daddy? And the other day, you know, my wife called and she wanted to know when I was coming home and I said, well, we're doing a meeting and I can hear my son in the background and she's got me on speaker.
And he said, how many minutes? And I said, 90. And he instantly starts crying. It's too long. And my wife said he wanted to wait out front in the house and he wanted to wait until I got home. And he's in that stage right now where he loves daddy so much. And then you grow up a little bit and you get into like 12, 13 years old. My daughter's 12. Yeah. You get to be 12, 13 years old. And it's kind of like you do love your dad. But you're also kind of embarrassed and you're like, don't get me started. You're in for trouble, my friend. 12 and 13. You know, you go through this stage where you're like, dad, come on. And it's and it's hard for a dad because dad's used to like you running up and loving him. And just it's hard because you're like, well, I thought you're my pumpkin, you know, whatever. My daughter's leaking. She's like she's leaking airs like Jenea. Yeah. Hey, we got to go. Where? It's leaking. No, I got that from my friend yesterday at this TV station. I stole that from her. That's great. When she turns 22, she'll come back around to you, my friend. It just takes a long time. And that's the deal. So this is an analogy of what it was like when I first got saved in 2003 up till now. You know, you go through this teenage stage where you're like, Dad, you don't want to talk about it. You're embarrassed of it, you know? Yeah.
And then you go through this stage where you get a little bit older and it's almost like college years and it's okay and it's cool to talk about your dad and stuff. And now I'm at a point where I kind of don't care. Everybody that listens to my show knows that's my deal. And I also know that I need to shut up sometimes and that I can't go too far with it because I know that it's a hot button for a lot of people. It's a hot button. And I say... Uh, anger is hurt, sadness, and fear. That's what anger is. Hurt, sadness, and fear. And when people get mad, I realize there's something that I'm saying that is making them hurt, sad, or afraid. Something about what I'm saying is making them that. And I, I try to realize that. And, and, uh, I got people that I respect that tell me, chill out, chill out. And I'd chill out, you know? Um, but, uh, Like I told you off the air, man, our conversation that we had the first time I ever talked to you and interviewed you was so like, whoa, this guy left corn. You know, this guy left corn because he loves God. And, you know, where I went through this thing, I'm like, should I quit radio? Like, maybe I go to seminary. Maybe I become a pastor. Who knows? And then I realized, well, no, he gave me gifts and I'm going to use them and I'm going to do my thing. And by the way I live.
Can I say something? Yeah, yeah, yeah, dude. It's like, you know, I don't want to make someone hurt, sad, or what you said earlier. But look, it just shows how real God is. Because he'll tell one person, like he'll lead me, you know, leave your life and follow me and let's go somewhere else, you know, on a new adventure. And then like someone like Fieldy is a Christian. He's in corn. He stayed there. and he wrote a book about his faith, and he's touring the world with corn, and he's making a difference in there. But God led him that direction, and he led you your direction. Just because I left corn doesn't mean everybody's got to drop everything and just do something crazy like I did. It's a personal relationship between you, that one person, and God. Man, that's a great way to put it. That's a great way to put it. Head is in the studio. And I'm so, man, I was so excited. I still am. I mean, just the fact that you were coming in today and that we were going to meet. You got a new book, and that's what we should tell people. The new book is called Stronger, 40 Days of Metal and Spirituality. Have you started to do cover-ups or anything on any of the tattoos? Have you started to do any changes or anything with the tattoos? Are all your tattoos the same? Yeah, they're all the same.
You know, I got a couple corn tattoos after I left. Really? People were like, well, I thought you left. But it's like, look at the art. I mean, it's Untouchables album cover. Right. It's sick art, you know? Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. I'm not like all religious like that, you know, like, oh, I got to do that, you know. But, you know, I had a couple. I had issues tattooed on my arm. I had this one, this guy taking off his skin, starting out fresh. Right. I had that before this all happened to me. So it was probably. Like a prophetic ink or whatever. Right, right, right. But I'm not too like religious and like, you know, about the rules and all that. Yeah. If you want to see, there is no rules about that, by the way. I mean, tattoos. Yeah. You get tattoos. And I'm going to finish. I got to get Mike's number. Am I ADD sometimes? Something shiny? Yeah, something shiny. I just remembered Sonny's here and I'm like, I got to get Mike's number. Okay, so we will be back with Brian Head Welch. Stick around. Is the Mikey Show on FM 94.9. Just two days to go until the return of the FM 94.9 Holiday Hootenanny presented by Sion this Saturday night at Remack Arena on the campus of UCSD. The band that just received five Grammy nominations. The Black Keys. Watch this.
All right, we got to wrap up because Head has got to go to Fox 5. He's doing Fox 5 next. And it's been so cool. I don't want to ask you on the air about the Be Different thing. Have you been talking about Be Different? You're cool with Be Different? Yeah, I heard a little bit about it. Okay, cool. Because he's going to come back. We're all set up, take some pictures. I'm doing this thing, Be Different. And, man, it's blown up. And the idea of it is just a pact with people to be kind and just...
treat each other with kindness and stuff like that. And, uh, we cannot keep these things. We can't like on the shelves. So to speak, it's, it's like, it's so overwhelming in terms of how many people are wanting them. And, uh, I can't like, we can't keep up. But, um, anyway, uh, Head, thank you for coming in, man, and telling us your story, which is if you want to see like his full he's got a full story. The website's called I am second dot com where you can see that. And do you have anything besides the book? OK, the book is stronger. Forty days of metal and spirituality. He also wrote a book called Save Me From Myself. Yeah. Amazing. Brilliant. Brilliant. Thanks, man. Stronger fits in a stocking, too. Yeah, it does. Perfect. There you go. It does. It does. It'll fit perfectly into a stocking. And so it's a great Christmas gift. It really is good, too. I was reading it, and it really is good. And you're very honest in the way that you talk. The way that you communicate is just real honest, man. There's 40 stories in there. The first one's about...
Me losing myself, you know, on tour with Metallica, doing drugs and stuff. And then we go on. I talk about, you know, visiting the guy in Deftones who was, you know, chief in the Deftones. And he got in a bad car accident. And me and Sonny went down and saw him. And I talk about spiritual experiences. And it's all kinds of stuff in there. So, yeah, check it out. How is Chi doing now? He's progressing slowly, right? Yeah, we're trying to raise money. It's one love for Chi, isn't it? Yeah. I've given. I love the Deftones. Yeah. OneLoveForChi.com. Yep. Well, listen, man. Thank you for coming in. And a pleasure to meet you. You too, man. Just awesome to meet you. You guys are awesome. Thank you. I love the bean bag. Isn't that great? That's the greatest. Something great. All right. Well, you've got to get to the TV station, and then we'll see you in a little bit. And you guys will come back a little bit later. Okay, cool. What time do you guys leave?
I'll wait for you. Don't worry. I'll wait for you. That is Brian Head Welch. And the book is called Stronger, 40 Days of Metal and Spirituality. I got a break, right? Okay, cool. Be right back. I don't have any music ready. Now I will. That was quite a morning. Wow. We talked to Shannon Doherty, who, by the way, we hit it off enough to where she wants to come to the studio. Serious. Make out with us. That wasn't me. It was some of the little girl. We just had Brian Head Welch in here, and that was pretty rad. Very. Nice guy. Guess who's on the phone. Dwight D. Eisenhower. Dwight D. Schrute? Yeah, Dwight Kurt Schrute. No. Lauren O'Brien. Oh, wow. L-O-B.
Hello, Mike. Hello, Mike. Sounds like Mr. O'Brien. I know. Oh, my goodness. No, seriously, put Lauren on. Yeah, can we talk to Lauren? I was talking to BFMC, and he's like, you sound like a dude. You should call into the show. Oh, wow. Listen to our bronchitis girl. I know. He called me, last night he called me bronchiosaurus and bronxtail. How you feel? You know, I feel worse today than I felt yesterday. You sound like butt. Yeah. I know. I know. I can't believe you guys had Shannon Doherty on. I missed that because I was sleeping, but I just heard the head interview and it was amazing. Thank you. So cool. Shannon, did you hear the whole thing about Shannon's coming in here? I know. I just heard you say that. I was like, what? I saw some of the stuff on Facebook about Shannon. I was like, which Shannon was it? Yeah. Shannon Doherty.
Oh, man, I can't wait for that. L.O.B., you missed Sopranos and 90210 trivia. I saw that on Facebook, too. I was like, man, what did I miss? And Sonny from POD, who is also a fan of the show, he goes, where's L.O.B.? Yeah, it was so great. It was so funny. He goes, where's L.O.B.? He goes, she's sick. And he's like, ah. Yeah, he thought he was going to meet you. Oh, man. So, well, we hope you feel better. If I haven't said it, I'm not going to Haiti because American Airlines won't fly in and out of Port-au-Prince because of the violence in Port-au-Prince, the protesting. And so Garrett will not be here tomorrow. He'll be here in spirit, and we may do a little Garrett. Lauren, do you have a stuffy nose and a runny nose? No. Okay, good.
More of like a sore throat and cough and stuff. Great. So Sienna's got something different. I think I have something different. Today I've been dying as well. I have tea. I've been drinking tea. Maybe wheatgrass isn't a bit because I feel great. I feel like a million bucks. Maybe Marlboro Lights isn't a bit. I put on the hand gel like 30 times this morning. Yeah. That's why you carry it in your purse. At all times. Well, L.O.B., L.O.B., I hope you're back tomorrow, but, you know, you let us know how you're doing. Get better. Thank you, guys. I miss you. Do you love me? Other mother. Other mother. Kind of sound like other mother a little bit there, Laura. I know, right? That's awesome. I miss you guys. You had an awesome show of what I heard today. We miss you. Tell BFMC that we said hello. Okay, he's not here, but I will. Isn't he? Isn't he? Just roll over and kiss for me. She's like, no, actually, LeBron James is here right now. BFMC's at the house. She's like, LeBron, can you pick the other phone up? Hey, what's up, girl? All right. We miss you. We'll talk to you soon. Okay, bye, guys. Bye. Bye. Sounds like death. Poor thing. Lauren O'Brien. I texted her. I'm like, look, if you're contagious, do not come in. Agreed. And she was like, well, I'm okay. I'm like, no. I'm terrified. I don't want. I just know it. You know what's going to happen. You guys are all going to feel great. Come next Wednesday, right before the Mikey-thon, the kid.
This kid is going to get sick, and then it's going to be 28 hours of me sick. Well, I haven't touched any of you. Pull the curtain back here. Let me pull the curtain back. What? So yesterday I get a text from Woods that says, you going to tell L.O.B. to sit this one out, bro? Last thing we need is some bronchitis. I almost texted you about the same thing. It's a true statement. Because I was texting her. And I texted him back. Listen to this clown. I texted him back and I said, I wasn't planning on it. I have a sack, though. You're a monster. As I blow my nose into the microphone. I said, it ain't AIDS, pal. And quit kissing her on the mouth. And then I said... I'm by myself in an empty house hoping that he would text back and be like, why don't you come over for dinner? I left you hanging. What did I say back? You just gave me a squint. Why are you squinting? You said you didn't text me back. Oh, I didn't? I called you. Mike, we have a different job than most people. We're in a tiny room together all the time, sharing food all over each other. Hey.
My wife's listening. And our voices. We kind of need them. Let me tell you, at the old station, you guys don't even know this. Sienna might know it because she filled in for Sky for a while. But I was hardcore about this. Never come to work sick. You said that. I was hardcore. When we started, you're like, listen, dude, if you're sick, do not come in here. I don't want people sick. What happened to you? Yeah. Why are you so calloused and hard now? I remembered that this morning when I didn't feel good. And then I thought, no, I'm going in. Oh, my gosh. All of my texts to L.O.B. were like, take it easy. If you're sick, don't worry about it. Blah, blah, blah. You know, your health comes first. Blah, blah, blah. You know, and that's the deal. But in terms of me, like I'm like. I don't think I'm going to get it because I put that hand sanitizer on, you know. That was what you told me. So do I. That's what he told me. He goes, just load up on hand sanitizer. I go, what does that do? No. I go, do I swallow it? You know what he was concerned about? What? In my baseball game, yes, I was. I got a playoff game this weekend, dude. We have playoffs on Sunday. I don't want bronchitis. But that's a big deal. That's a big deal. We have a Mikey-thon next week. It's like the Yanks. I have a new baby. It's like the Yanks.
are playing the Braves in the World Series. Hey, we play the... The Tipsy Crows take on the undefeated Berries for the first round of the playoffs. It's a big deal. When was the last time I... The Berries? The Berries? No, it's Berries at a sporting goods store. It's their sponsor. It's not a guy named Barry. No, they're undefeated. Strawberries. Or just plural of bears. It's actually the Strawberries, but it's like the Niners. They call them the Berries. No, I'm on your side, Woods. I agree that you need to be healthy. I'm also... I'm emceeing a charity dinner for a very sick little girl. Yeah. I'm emceeing that. And I didn't want to be ill for that either. No, you shouldn't have to be. And we have the holiday hootenanny on Saturday. On Saturday. Which I will be attending. I will be attending. I hope I will be attending. I didn't want to miss that either. You made plans? I got to go to Haiti. You're not going to Haiti. I have to go Saturday and then come back Saturday. Just a day trip. Listen, you guys know me in concerts. I'm not a concert guy. It doesn't matter what it is. There's no concert. Like, I'm just not a concert guy. I'm a...
Dork, you guys know. I'm very disappointed. You know how I am. We'll be there. Now, the thing that Woodsy's killing me on is he goes, you love the Black Keys. And I do. I love the Black Keys. You have to see them live. Before you die, you have to see them live. But I have anxiety issues. Okay, I do too. We'll take an extra pill. We'll take one together. It won't work. It won't work. I can take it as Klonopin. And if I go, I'm telling you the truth. I get around that many people. I'm like, ugh. We'll go VIP. We'll sit in the VIP section. With a VIP. Hi, Hillary. Hi. Yeah, that's what I was going to say. VIPs upstairs. There's an awesome place. Just us. It's never crowded. It's us, right? It's family. Then I'm like, oh, look. Look at Mr. Hoshy Posh up in the VIP. No, you work at the station. What do you want? Yeah, don't call it VIP. Just call it another area to be in. I'm a very important. It's called the King's Lounge, okay? The lair. The lair. It's going to be an awesome concert. And you're coming, and I'm making you come. I'm going to force you. He'll be there. I go to church Saturday night. What? I go to church Saturday night. Yeah, the concert doesn't start until later. What time? I don't know. We'll go. I'll pick you up at 8. Dude, you know I'm asleep by 8 o'clock. Doors are at 5 o'clock. Not on Saturday you won't be asleep at 8. I know you stay up until 11. There you go. My guess is that Tokyo Police Club will go on just after 6. I need to double check on that. But because there's five bands.
It starts very early. Still got time for church. You can knock church out. I'll pick you up. You know what? How about this? Church on Sunday. I'll roll to church with you, and then we'll go to the concert after. There you go. Very sweetly. I like that. He said no. He can't say no. You started this morning with that light, and you just have been killing me all morning. This guy is just killing me. He's strong. He's coming on strong today. You're lucky LLB isn't here, too. Oh, I know it. She'd be getting you just as good. And she would be delighting in it. I'm doing double time for her. You'd be hearing her going, So, okay. It's a plan. It's a date. Just to experience the holiday. Yeah, you got to. Because the energy, the crowd, well, you don't have to. I'm anxiety. Don't crowd. There's nobody there. I have anxiety. There's like one person there. There's like one dude. It's like a private concert. It's going to be so, this is our station's concert. No, I realized, listen, when I was negotiating with our general manager, Rick. R. Jackson. I said to him, listen. I said, this has always been my thing. I said, I don't do concerts. I said, and I'll tell you why. Last concert I did was a Korn concert. Believe it or not. Korn concert. Fourth and B. Just got out of Betty Ford. I was sober. I'm not kidding you. I was sober a month. How did Gerald Ford feel about that? I don't know. You're such a B.
Might be the greatest line ever uttered on the Mikey show. Baby, that was brilliant. It is. And gross. Yes, always. That's creepy Uncle Jay. That's right. It is. And so I, you know, sober about a month. I'm at this corn show for Rock 105. I'm on stage at 4th and B and some jackhole takes a full beer. and throws it out and it goes in my mouth and i'm like and i remember our program director now because i talked to her about it let you know like a year later and she was like i think that you should do more concerts and i said i would love to but i'm telling you i get anxiety i get anxiety and she goes why and i go because somebody threw a beer in my mouth oh my gosh mikey this could be a deal breaker it could seriously Be a deal breaker because you have to be involved with the radio station. And if you're not. Sounds just like her. If you're not going to be involved with the radio station, then I don't know. I think seriously we have to talk about it.
And it was one of those times where I dug my heels and I said, listen, I get anxiety. I get really anxious. Let me tell you what your new program director is going to say. Hey, Mike. Hey, Mike. You have your ass at that concert. I'm going to slit your throat. You understand? It's not every day the frigging Black Keys. The five-time Grammy-nominated Black Keys are in town. You son of a bitch, you're coming. All right? I'll make Woods chain you to the damn car and drag you to the show. I'll tell you dynamite around that bald head. I'm going to slit your throat. If you don't come, I'm going to light the dynamite and let that little bald head blow up. I'm going to watch it. Then I'm going to play in it. And enjoy it. I'm going to cut your head off and wear it as a mask, okay? And I'm going to go up on stage and say, hey, it's me. It's Mikey from the Mikey Show. I'm going to blow your head up. Then I'm going to use what's left as a slip and slide. Yeah, so we'll go to church and then we'll roll out together. It'd be sweet. The four of us. We'll do a double date. Oh, Rebecca? Yeah. Are you out of your mind? No, it's going to be a blast. Rebecca wants to go to the concert. She wants to go. She texted me last night and told me that she really wanted to go to the hoot. I thought she told you at dinner. Oh, no, not at dinner. I do get anxious, too. Me, too. Stage announcements are the least favorite part of my job. I love it. If I were a pretty woman, Hillary is a good-looking girl. If I were a pretty woman, I'd get on stage, I'd be like, hey, what's up? Oh, God.
If somebody throws a beer in your face, I will take the belt to them, my friend. You trust me on that one. Oh my gosh, Mikey. You are so dramatic. The beer didn't go in your mouth. It did. It went in my mouth. I'm telling you, I tasted the beer. I was there. I saw it. It didn't go in your mouth. Mike, nobody's going to throw a GD beer in your mouth, okay? I'm going to slit your throat. Not at $10 a pop. Yeah, not at $10 a pop. No doubt. They're going to be home. Plus, beers are in the Beernasium at the Remak Arena. The Beernasium! So there will be no beer on it. Well, you didn't tell me about the Beernasium. The beer is separated. You can't take beers out of the Beernasium. They'll pick you up. It'll be a real sweet, fun time. Well, if you want to see Mikey at the concerts, there's not many tickets left, so get online and buy them. Yeah, tomorrow night. No, Saturday night. I thought it was Friday for a minute. I scratch yours, you scratch mine real sweetly. You have not scratched my back today. I just scratched it. You're going to church with me? Yes. That's a scratch. What is that? Mike, he's taking one for the team. That's right, boy. Tit for tat. Tit for tit, Mike, okay? Sorry, dude. Hey, shock jock. Hey, Howard. Take it easy over there. Well, that's because you have big jugs. So, Hillary, what do you have? Hey. Don't know how that fit, but. It doesn't have to. It's creepy Uncle Jay.
It's the greatest show we've ever done today. Hillary, what do you have coming up? Oh, gosh. Well, I grabbed the new Foles record, Arcade Fire, Interpol's new one, some Incubus, and I will get on some of our holiday hootenanny bands, too. There you go. You better, or you're fired. That's right. You better, or I'll blow your head up, and then I'll use it as a slip and slide. Detroit. Billy! Tommy, four times fired him, and then hired him back. The guy writes a hell of a blog. All right, we've got to get out of here. We'll see you tomorrow morning at 6. Mike and Shiz out.
