Mike Esparza, Woods, L.O.B., and Jay followed a San Diego high-speed chase live and debated whether suspects ever really escape, while the Sarah McKinley story prompted praise for a young mother's armed defense of her baby. Megan Lawless and Jasper Jaspers supplied an unlikely Words With Friends love story, while Charles Barkley's hot mic, Google-style office perks, improvised Nickelback lyrics, and the repeated "Marlboro" pronunciation became the show's major comic arguments and bits. Ralph Rubio recounted building Rubio's from one slow Pacific Beach fish-taco shop into 200 restaurants, and the crew traded backstage stories about Eddie Van Halen and Michael Anthony. An email about a drunken New Year's kiss led to disagreement over rejection and marital fidelity, while Sarah Burge's gift of a liposuction voucher and a caller's purchase of implants for her teenage daughter drew nearly unanimous condemnation. Mikey closed with a direct account of his addictions, his 2003 Christian conversion, and his hope that listeners would seek help.
What happened, in order
Chase Across San Diego
The crew followed a high-speed chase live as a car left Interstate 5, dropped off a fleeing passenger, crashed, and left the driver at large.
A Mother Defends Her Baby
Eighteen-year-old Sarah McKinley calmly called 911 and fatally shot a knife-wielding intruder after he entered the home where she was protecting her infant son.
Words With Friends Romance
Megan Lawless of Chicago and Jasper Jaspers of the Netherlands turned a random Words With Friends match into conversations, visits, love, and plans to marry.
Charles Barkley Hot Mic
An open microphone caught Charles Barkley calling his paid Weight Watchers role a great scam and criticizing a dreadful Atlanta Hawks game, though the hosts argued his remarks were being unfairly framed.
The Perks Productivity Bet
Woods, L.O.B., and Jay argued that lavish workplace perks at companies such as Google can reduce turnover and keep talented employees working longer.
Writing a Nickelback Song
The hosts mocked Chad Kroeger's literal lyrics by improvising absurd Nickelback-style songs from whatever objects they could see around the studio.
Van Halen Backstage Stories
A discussion of Van Halen's reunion became Mikey's story about Michael Anthony secretly blaming Eddie Van Halen for a vanished bass part and Woods's story about Eddie hitting on Kim Isbell in front of him.
The Midnight Kiss Problem
An email about an unwanted New Year's suitor sparked competing advice about direct rejection versus a slow text fadeaway, then widened into an argument over whether a drunken kiss should end a marriage.
How Rubio's Began
Ralph Rubio explained how a 1973 fish taco in San Felipe inspired him and his father Ray to open a struggling Pacific Beach shop that eventually grew into 200 restaurants.
Cosmetic Surgery for Children
The crew condemned Sarah Burge's liposuction voucher for seven-year-old Poppy and challenged a caller who said she bought breast implants for her 16-year-old daughter to make her more competitive.
Marlboro on Repeat
A discussion of Ratt collapsed into a gleeful running gag when L.O.B.'s pronunciation of Marlboro was isolated, replayed, and imagined as the title of a record.
Mikey's Recovery Testimony
Mikey described his insecurity and addictions to alcohol, pornography, cocaine, and methamphetamine, then said his 2003 conversion to Christianity gave him hope he wanted to share with struggling listeners.

Do you think that guy's ever had authentic St. Louis ribs? That's what a good barbecue sauce is. Do you think this guy's ever been in a smoky lounge? Do you think he's ever sat on a tree stump and played his guitar? Absolutely. Do you think this guy can roll his own smoke? Oh, my guarantee. Do you think he's ever gnawed on a big piece of beef jerky while on his tour bus? Yes. Do you think he's ever picked his teeth at the end of his guitar string? Yes, Mikey. show and you can call 570-1949. We are on the air now at 530 a.m. We're keeping new hours and most people are pretty stoked about it because you get a little extra Mikey show here in the morning because a lot of people are getting up early and so it makes sense for a lot of people. So call us right now if you want to. It's Friday and we're taking your calls at 570-1949. Let's see. An M1.
is a Mikey show listener. Means when you call in, you turn your radio down and get to the point and you don't cuss. That's what makes you an M1. And you also make new M1s. You're always like recruiting. You're bringing new people into the fold. If they don't know what the Mikey show is all about, you explain it to them. And you let them know we're on 94.9, and we start at 5.30, and we go till 9, and that, yes, Mike Esparza is still on the radio here in San Diego. Dude. Had to talk to a couple people on Facebook last week, and they went for Christmas holidays. I guess one of them had their Mikey Show shirt on, and one of the guys in the family was like, dude, Mikey's on 94.9? And he's like, absolutely, man, you've got to listen. And he's like, I'm all the way in. I'm telling you. Tell them. They don't know, because tell them. Here's the deal. If one person says something to you, if two people say something to you, and you go, if about 45 people say to you, Mikey's on 949? Yeah. It might be that people don't know that I'm on 949. New Girl just started with my wife, Jamie, at work. And they were doing the thing on the first day of work at a new company. They usually go around the room.
And like, okay, Lauren is new. Lauren, tell us something about yourself. And so they got around to Jamie. Your wife? Yeah, my wife. And she says, and everyone's like, tell him about your husband, that he's on the radio. And she's like, this is about me. This isn't about that clown. And one of these girls was like, what station? And he goes, oh, he's on the Mikey show. She goes, but wait, I used to listen to Mikey on 105.3. He has a new station. This is two days ago. Wow. Two days ago. People still don't know. They still don't know. I can't convince people. that are in the building of that, though. It's true. I mean, I run into it. I see it all the time. I get emails about it. I guess maybe we just start stockpiling those. Let's rely on you, the listeners. Go tell them. Spread the word. Spread it. Spread it like herpes. Yeah. Start kissing each other with Mikey Show 949. Yeah, yeah, yeah. With tongue. Mm-hmm. Yes. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. I know exactly what you mean. Mm-hmm. I like it when you guys say something and then I go, you know what I mean? And I didn't even say it. Right. No. Or when we slip something creepy in there and you go, yeah. Yeah. And then you don't realize. I don't realize. I just yatted that. Oh, wait. I just yatted it before I knew what I was yattin'. Yeah, I try to slip things back to goalie a lot. What's it doing? This day 17 years ago. 1994. Come here, Nicole. Come here. Nicole's 19. Yeah, she is. Oh, God. God, you...
Your kids are older. You have kids that are older. Two girls that are older. I'm throwing that out there. I'm just confirming what you said. All right. Let's play this game. What year were you born, Nicole? 1992. What? It's crazy. I was a junior in high school. So the question for you is, on this day 17 years ago in 1994, the big thing happened with Nancy Kerrigan. Yes. I know exactly what you're talking about. Yes, indeed. Sure do. Do you know what this is, Nicole? I have no idea. Oh, my God. I love it. I love it so much. This is a great game. This is a great game. And it's not her fault. We're not making fun. No, not at all. She's so young. She's so young. It makes us feel old. Yeah, it would be like when we were growing up and somebody goes, do you know who Rudolph McHenry is? And you're like, no. No. Oh, my goodness.
He's the person that invented the tank. We were actually alive during the time the tank was invented. Wow, no kidding. Really? It's awesome. People always used to tell me, like, I had really, like, chubby cheeks when I was a little girl. And they'd be like, you know, you look just like Edith Render. Like, tell me all these names. I'm like, ah. Nancy Kerrigan was an, well, yes. Nancy Kerrigan was an Olympic skater. ice skater, and two days before they were going into the Olympic trials, she got whacked in the leg with a crowbar, wasn't it? It was a pipe. Like a pipe? A lead pipe. Crowbar pipe. And the knee. And the knee. And it was, what was the name of the... Jeff Galluli. Jeff Galluli. Wow, look at you. Who was married to Tonya Harding. Was married to Tonya Harding. The girl that she was going to compete against. Had her husband. So this redneck. That's gnarly. Total redneck. Well, she was a redneck, but she was a redneck from, like, Oregon. No, no, no. Oh, yeah, it was Pacific Northwest. She was from the Pacific Northwest. But she was very WT. I might have seen her penthouse wedding posters. I might have seen those. You're so filthy. They published stills of their wedding pictures. There's a different level of filth. And I might have seen them. Like, ones that she didn't pose for?
Oh, no, it's her and her husband on their wedding night making love, and there are still photographs that they were taking, and she sold them to Penthouse. I might have seen them. They may be some of the most hideous things that you've ever seen. I may have just tried to block my mind for the last 30 seconds. I just tried to picture it for some reason. I don't know why. I tried to picture it. You're a creep, too. I saw a lot of white, a lot of dimples. Well, I couldn't because I don't know. She has no idea what we're talking about. She doesn't know. Nicole does not know Nancy Kerrigan. She did the, why me? Why me? It's not when she said, why me? And she said, why anybody? I don't even know. It's identical Nancy Kerrigan, by the way. She said, why me? Why me? And then I think followed up by, why anybody? So sweet. The Campbell Soup girl. So sweet. That was her bit. She was hawking Campbell Soup. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah. She was a pretty lady. Do you remember... Horsemouth. Horsemouth, yeah. Oh, my gosh. She's like the Anne Hathaway of the ice. She could actually eat an apple through a picket fence. I heard that, actually. It's fact. She could eat corn through a knothole. It's not very nice. But factual. True statements. Not nice, but it's a true fact.
See, I would challenge that. I would say I don't believe that she could actually eat a corn. I promise you. The apple part, I believe. What you said about the corn was just a stretch. That was a stretch. So do you remember who was the little tiny gymnast in 1984? Mary Lou Retton. There's no way you would know Mary Lou Retton, right? No. Got a perfect 10. Perfect 10. She got a perfect 10. That's really hard to do in Olympic sports. My wife, Jamie, went and got her hair cut just like that. The little bowl cut. Yeah. Because Jamie was in gymnastics and she had the Mary Lou Retton, as did all the girls in the gymnastics class. I would pay. Oh, I've got it. We've got them. They're genius. They are genius.
This long bowl. I've never wanted to see something more. It's awesome. We should bring that look back. Yeah, let's start with you. Please don't. I was like, what? I looked over at Jay and he was holding up the break sign, but he had me breaking at 27 after the hour. And I was like, oh my gosh, I gotta talk for 45 minutes. Never mind, never mind. I thought it was 6 a.m. again. Oh, I just wrote down the old one. What was it again? Sorry, there we go. There we go. It's Friday. I don't know. The Chevy Volt is getting recalled. Uh-oh. Yeah, yeah. It's an electric car. Breaking news on a couple of fronts. Breaking news on Penn State. Yep. And what is that, Woods? That is that they have hired a new head coach. He is New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien. He will continue to serve as the Patriots offensive coordinator throughout their run for the playoffs.
but he will be announced probably today or tomorrow as the new head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions. I didn't think you were allowed to talk to a coach while he was in the middle of that stuff. Oh, yeah. You're allowed? Oh, yeah. No. And then the other breaking news is that there's a high-speed chase going on. And I don't know. It was going by SeaWorld a minute ago. For whatever reason, I have everything on here, and I can't hear it. Don't know why. There we go. I can kind of hear it. The volume's really low. Volume's low. Yeah, I don't know why. I have it potted up as high as it'll go, and it's not working. Huh. Gosh darn it. That's a big deal. Got to be able to do that. We should call an engineer. Yeah, I will. There are a million cars on the road. I know, and I really want to know where this is taking place right now. This is important. Gosh darn it.
Is that down the five towards downtown? It looks like it. That's not record. That's not. That doesn't matter. That doesn't matter. I'll get him on the phone. There we go. Yeah, he's on the five. Five north. Towards L.A. Towards L.A. Five north towards L.A. Holy cow. And it's a. Looks like a Nissan Sentra, but I can't tell. Let me see if I can get it on the other TV. The other TV is not coming up either. Perfect. You're not going to get away, pal. It never ends well. It's not going to end good for you today. Oh, he got off at Grand and Garnett. Oh, God, he just exited. Towards PB. You got off on Grand and Garnett. Do you think it's a, he ripped it off? Ripped the car off? Maybe it's a geezer bandit. With helicopters and cop cars and all that kind of stuff, you never get away. You're not getting away. All right, he just exited. I don't think that in the history of high-speed chases, there's ever been somebody that made it.
In the history. And now they throw the dog at you, too. It's like you get out of the car to run, and they're like, all right, canine patrol. They get the spikes out in the middle of the road. They'll scare me to death. Do they really let the dogs out? Oh, they let the dogs. Who let the dogs out? I didn't know they did that. Oh, yeah. Dog's usually the first one in there. Oh, God. He's going through an intersection. Oh, God. He's going to go through an intersection. He's going to go through. Nope, he's taking a right. Making a right. He did a right on red. He's fine. What did you do, Jay? Did you call somebody? I sent Nicole to grab JR. Okay. Who's our TV technician. He's our TV tech. What did you do to it? You probably messed it up. Why did he do that? These are riveting to me. I don't know why. They're riveting. I could watch a guy drive fast all day with cops chasing him. The word of the day is leather. The word of the day is leather. And when you hear me say leather between now and 9 o'clock. We'll give you a year-long subscription to Blockbuster Movies. Nice. Unlimited in-store exchanges of DVDs, games, and Blu-ray movies for a whole year. That's killer. Ding, ding. And streaming to come early this year. And a $50 gift card to Dave and Buster's Eat, Play, Drink. That's all good news. Let's see. Mikey Show, hello. Hello. Hi, can you hear me? This is 94.9? Yes, it is. Hey, you guys.
So wrong, man. Guys get away in high-speed chases all the time. I've never, ever seen a guy get away in a high-speed chase. I used to get away all the time. I did finally get caught, and I quit. But when I was a kid running around TV in my Mustang, we'd ditch them all the time. And my buddies live down in Coronado. We'd outrun them on Silverstein. We'd lose them on the 5. We'd lose them on Fuel Drive. I have never heard of that. Was it short chases, though? I mean, you'd make a couple quick turns? I'd get them. Well, I could do that or I'd get them on the freeway at a fast car. But if you ask the police about it, they'll tell you. You just don't hear about the ones who get away. They get away all the time. Makes sense. Well, if there's a cop listening, give us a call. 570-1949. These, the ones that they show on TV, you're right, Mike. I never see those end well, you know, because they've got a freaking copter following him. And the other thing is that you're getting in worse trouble. Right. I think, don't, I mean, if you, if you got nothing to lose because you know you're going to jail for a long time, you're like, hey, might as well give it a whirl. Yeah. Usually what they're running from is not even as bad as the consequences that they'll now face. Yeah, absolutely. Man, I am such a scaredy cat. I'm the opposite of anybody that would ever run. I've been in a car with a guy that we ran and.
Got away from a cop. You did? Yeah, it was. We were. He was intoxicated. And he was his mom's RX-7. Not funny, by the way. Not funny at all. We were going about 140 down 114 in Dallas. And the guy just could not keep up, dude. And we had such a good lead on him that we exited, you know, pulled into a neighborhood, killed the lights, and just sat there. And, you know, crap in our pants. Like, freaking out. We got away. Wow, dude. I was driving a car like that. You should have been dead. Yeah. Oh, thousands of times. You should have been dead. I had a cop tell me if I had kept my speed up, he would have never caught me. But I slowed down. I didn't see him. I didn't know he was even after me. How fast were you going? I was going like 120, 100 and something. Whoa, where? We worked at this fair. And after the fair, all the people were in the right lane and they were stopped. I would bust into the left lane because there's no oncoming traffic. And I would just punch it. Woo! And just go. Pass everybody. Just blind pass everybody like at 120. Whoa! And then we get, you know, to our turn. That's what it sounded like. Get to our turn and just like cut off and go home. Did you guys pick up the fact that Jay said that he worked at a fair? He was a carny. It was a renaissance fair and I worked in the beer booth. Beer booth. What's the beer booth? That was beer. Get your King's Ale here. That's what I would say to people. Excuse me? King's Ale.
Did you say King's Ale? Yes, from the king's own stock. Come on by, get your King's Ale. What's your name? I'm Jacef. Hi, Jacef. The beer server. Hi, Jacef, the beer server. You're a squire? I am. Work with a bunch of wenches. Yeah. And they all wore low-cut tops. What's a low-cut top? I think you'd know. L.O.B. literally just pulled a muscle laughing. Oh, they got him. Oh, boy. He's running. Oh, he's running. He's running. Oh, God. Can't see, though. He's got a hoodie on. Oh, gosh. They lost him. They lost him. They lost him. Chris. Oh, my goodness. Oh, they're looking for him. Wow. This would be really riveting if we could put it on the radio. Jay, do we? They're coming. Okay. Good. Oh, you can't see a darn thing. The news screen right now is just a black screen. He got out and started to run. Or was that the passenger? That was a passenger. That was the passenger. The car's still going. The car's still going. The passenger's not crisp. That must have been a stop. You know what I bet they did is I bet they discussed in the car, okay, here's what we're going to do. Absolutely. Oh, absolutely. I'll give you a fighting chance.
There's a guy right now running through San Diego. His heart is beating faster than you can possibly imagine. Yeah, I'm surprised it doesn't blow up. I know. I am never on the bad guy's side, though, man. I don't like the bad guy. No, but sometimes things go from zero to 60. I mean, he's just a person like us. No, no, no. No, no, no, L.O.B. He's not a person like you. You're a good person that doesn't. Well, terminals aren't always bad people. Well, you know what I mean. You're not a criminal. But you don't know what the passenger was up to. Right now he's sprinting through these dark streets. With a hoodie on. And something in his hand. Like he had a paper bag. Just imagine if you were with Woods in his car and all of a sudden he's like, I'm running. And then you're like, dude, you've got to let me out. Would you run or just get out and stand there? I would stand there. And just get face down on the ground. I would stand there because I would want the cops to know, you know, I'm not down with this. This guy has killed his lights. And he's just, he knows the area. He has to. He's going in and out. Yeah. Dropped off the passenger and is making his way. And these are great live coverage deals. If we could get somebody in here. Sorry, I said tantrum. Literally.
Yeah. That's what that was. Are there engineers in the building? There are engineers. She went over and talked to JR, and he said he's on his way over. Okay, cool. He'll get us going. Why didn't that cop do anything? Maybe he set up those spikes. Mikey Show, this is M1 Mr. Dodgeball from Mira Mesa. Hi. Hey, what's up, guys? What's going on? Hey, nothing. When the race scene, there was a big underground race scene in San Diego probably like 18 years ago before the cops really started cracking down on it. You can get away from cops. It's just a matter of... No, no, no. I don't want to know. And I definitely don't want to put it on the radio. No offense. That's not me. That's not my style. I'm not down with letting people know how to evade cops and how it's done. I don't even want to know. Because it's bad. I hope he doesn't hurt anybody. Me too.
Okay, so Woodsy, tell us about the Chargers and what the Chargers did. Well, we talked about it earlier in the week, my friend. And we said that more than likely some heads had to roll for this Chargers disappointing season. And one of the heads was lopped off yesterday and is now rolling. Greg Minoski has been relieved of his duties as defensive coordinator. And they have basically promoted his linebackers coach, John Pagano. And he's been with the team for 10 years. He's got a great core linebackers. They've always played hard for him. And they're going to give him the shot to be the new defensive coordinator. What I thought was pretty cool is he doesn't really have a signature defense. He just wants to make sure everybody's executing. And if everybody executes and plays well, it stands to reason that the defense will be a good defense. They have some talent on defense. I think they need to draft some more and get some more in free agency. But Minuski's defense was 16th overall, 20th against the run. 13th against the pass, and just was not a good year for those guys. Well, he's a professional, and so he knows stuff that we don't know. Although, I could still say this as a fan. As a fan, it would be cool if what you were telling me was, this guy is a blitz. He's just a really aggressive defense. There's nothing. I mean, basically, it's look.
We're going to play fundamentally sound defense. It's about tackling the guy with the football, getting after the quarterback, covering people downfield. Pretty basic. Maybe he just doesn't want to show his hand. That's true. Could be that he just doesn't want to show his hand and nobody knows what he has up his sleeve right now. Time for playing it safe is over. But the good thing is he's been there 10 years. These guys know him. I agree with L.O.B., though. They can speak to him. Take some chances. Let's get out there. Fire it up. Let's get us going. Yeah, we heard at the beginning of the year how great Greg Minoski's defense was going to be, and it wasn't. So I'd rather just see it on the field. Let me see what happens. Yeah. But John Pagano, new defensive coordinator, San Diego Chargers. There is going to be the biggest surf in a year. The biggest surf that has been here in a year is going to be hitting today. Dude, you got the best barrels ever, dude. And Jay is going to go out there and check it out. Now, that doesn't mean he's going to surf, but he is going to go out there and just check it out. Possibly. Surfed for the last couple days. Has it been good to surf? It's been so much fun. Do you understand any of the, like, whys of why the surf is big or any of that? I haven't even...
Nope. Just know when I see waves coming in, they're lining up. Well, there's a big giant moon out there. Maybe it has something to do with that. Get pitted. So pitted. Yeah. Tides definitely always have to do with the moon. Yes, they do. Say pal. Say pal. Say pal. Say pal. Right? Yeah. Say it. Yeah, say pal. Say it. Don't spray it. Or whoop. Whoop. So anyway. Oh, and temperatures are. tumbling countywide in record numbers, although yesterday was warm. Oh, yeah. Broke records. Right? Yeah. I mean, yesterday was really, really warm. Oh, it was so nice. The beach was littered with bikinis. Yeah. Was it really? Yeah. So good. Lots of people.
Swimming in bathing suits in the water. Really? The water was that warm? No, the water's not warm. No, I think people just maybe, you're on vacation, it's so warm outside, you jump in. From my van, I was able to see a lot of young teenagers just, you know, enjoying the nice weather here in town. This is what I call skin season. 19-year-old phone screener, Nicole, just made a look like she'd seen a bug. Like, ew. Ew. Skin season got it. Skin season really got it. Unseasoned skin. Well, I think skin season, but we had an unseasonably one. Oh, it's nicer than our summer. Oh. I had an unseasonably one. I get on my diving board. Oh, God. Yes. Over and over and over and over. And over again. Touch skins. Like, do you get that joke? Let me touch. Can I touch your skin?
touch on your skin. I gotta touch my skin on your skin. My skin needs to be against yours. Now, I don't care what part of my skin. Any skin. Ear to ear, I don't care. It could be my neck and your foot. I don't care. It doesn't matter. Any part of skin. Okay, I will give you a nickel. And press my earlobe against your earlobe. Technically. Your fingernail is made of skin. If you give me a fingernail, I'm fine. I'm fine. Let me press my tongue. Pinch that skin you have on your elbow. Begging you, I'm begging you to let me palm your shoulder. Let's put our kneecaps down. So gross. I just got a head rush. I don't like bone touching bone. When Jamie and I, my wife, I love bone touching bone. I do. I'll bone you. I can't have my knees touching. It makes me so skeet. Really? Yeah. I can't sleep with my knees together. Yeah, I don't like it either. What? Pillow in between. Pillow in between. All right, take a listen to this. This is a band called Wiz Khalifa. It's a rapper. Yeah. Well, yeah. It's not a band. Yeah.
He probably has a band, but... He might be an emcee. Yeah, spoken word. And Wiz Khalifa has a hit song called Black and Yellow. Now, this has become an anthem for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I mean, it really has. Now, before I play you Wiz Khalifa, I want to play you this song called Pink and Yellow. Pink and yellow, pink and yellow. Popping out the car. Flavious car. The colors are pink and yellow, pink and yellow. You iced out change with the Jesus man. Please explain. Pink and yellow, pink and yellow. Okay. Now, that's a rapper named Maximilian. And that song is called Pink and Yellow. Now, Wiz Khalifa has got a new song called Black and Yellow. Now, you have to ask yourself. Where did he get the idea? Woods is shaking his head no. I do. No chance. No chance. Close. Not even close. The guy's talking about a sunset. Alright, the other one. Alright, you're right. Oh yeah, you're right. Yeah, you're right. I don't hear it. All it is is an intro.
You're like a mix master in there. I think the black and yellow and the pink and yellow are a little similar. I think it's pretty similar. I don't think so. I think it's two colors that they're using here. And it's just an echo. Everybody echoes. He's suing this guy. He may have a case. Oh! Yeah, he has a case. Well, one goes like this. And the other one, in kind of a similar way, goes... Black and Yellow is such a good song, I refuse to believe it was ripped off. Yes, and not only do they both go... One's called Pink and Yellow, one's called Black and Yellow. That's a true statement. Pink and Yellow. That's not a hard song.
It's back on the freeway. It's back on the freeway. The high-speed chase. The high-speed chase has now gone back to the freeway. Gosh, darn. JR's here. He's just waiting for us to go to break. We got to go to break to do it? Well, yeah. He needs to be able to hear. Okay. All right. Well, then let's do it because I want to give you one. Give us one. On FM 94.9. And now back to The Mikey Show with Mikey. I know a lot of. Girly stuff. Woods. I've bathed myself in ranch. Lauren. I'm all about the discounts. Reviews. And Jay. Whenever I go to a party, I'll bring beer, but I bring beer for myself. On FM 94.9. Word of the day is leather. The word of the day is leather. So when I say that word, I'll weave it into a sentence. And when I do, you need to be caller number nine. It'll happen sometime between now and nine.
And Caller 9, I'll give you a year-long subscription to Blockbuster. Unlimited in-store exchanges, DVDs, games, Blu-ray movies. And it's for 12 months. And the streaming's coming early this year. So it's going to be pretty cool. Got to check it out. And you got to be a Caller 9 to get it. Oh, and a $50 gift card to Dave & Buster's. Sweet. Yeah, pretty cool. So we were talking about this the other day. But there was a Navy SEAL here in town and very tragically, he's kind of hanging on to life right now, right? But the guy had a gun and apparently was trying to show off with the gun and didn't realize the gun was loaded. It was at a bar. No, it was at his home. It was at his house. Oh, sorry. I was about to say. He's fighting for his life.
And apparently it took place on Thursday morning in PB. Guy's only 22 years old. Oh, my gosh. Scripps Memorial. And he's the son of a local businessman. That's so sad. Unfortunately, this guy had been drinking. Two o'clock in the morning, he'd met a girl at a bar, and he accidentally shot himself. So anyway, apparently... The guy was trying to show her the gun, and he put it to his head. He pulled the trigger, thinking it wasn't loaded. Now, that is such a sad story. It is such a sad story. And the fact that he's, you know, clinging to life right now, the fact that he's even alive, I think, is almost a miracle in itself, you know, from doing that.
You've got to always assume that your gun is loaded. Absolutely. For sure. Even when you know it's empty. He knows that. Yeah, that's the thing. I just can't get past the fact that this guy's a Navy SEAL. He's one of the most well-trained people on the face of this earth. Literally on the face of this earth. Alcohol. Anybody can make a mistake. Yeah, booze and guns do not mix. No, they do not. Booze and guns do not mix. Booze and a lot of things don't mix. That's true. Speaking of the guns, A particular 18-year-old girl was actually happy she had one. An 18-year-old girl with a baby and an intruder. If an 18-year-old girl, well, if any mother, has a baby and an intruder's coming in the house, it's probably going to be a bad day for the intruder if said mother has a weapon. I wouldn't have done it, but it was my son.
This young mother takes maternal instinct to a whole new level. I walked over and got the 12-gauge, went in the bedroom and got the pistol and put the bottle in his mouth and then I called 911. 18-year-old Sarah McKinley killed a man, she says, to protect her three-month-old baby. I'm here by myself with my infant baby. Can I please get a dispatcher out here immediately? Late on New Year's Eve, police say two men, one armed with a 12-inch hunting knife, were trying to break into her home outside Oklahoma City. McKinley recognized one of them as someone she thought was stalking her. He was from door to door trying to bust in. They said I couldn't shoot him until he came in the door. Are your doors locked? Yes, I've got two guns in my hand. Is it okay to shoot him if he comes in the store? I can't tell you that you can do that, but you do what you have to do to protect your baby. The teen mother... killed the 24-year-old intruder the second he stepped inside. Police call the shooting justified. You're allowed to shoot an unauthorized person that is in your home. The law provides you the remedy and sanctions the use of deadly force. The second intruder turned himself in. McKinley was home alone that night because her husband just died of cancer.
On Christmas Day, while her son may grow up without his father, this is one little boy who will always know mom will do anything to protect him. I knew that I was going to have to choose him or my son, and it wasn't going to be my son, so I did what I had to do. There's nothing more dangerous than a mother with a child. You bet. I just teared up, dude. That girl is tough as nails. 18. I wonder what she used, a shotgun or a pistol. Shotgun. Shotgun. My guess. I think she said, I'm going to grab a 12-gauge. But she had a pistol, too. She had both. She said, when she goes, I have two guns in my hand right now, can I shoot the guy? My guess, shotgun. Because it's better. She was the most calm person I have ever heard. I'd have been frantic. I would have lost my mind. Now, see, that is a great point. Because I think that that goes to show you that... Because a lot of times people will listen back to 911 things or they'll listen back to certain things and they'll go, or people will question why somebody behaves a certain way. Everybody's different in high stress. Everybody reacts differently in high stress and everybody reacts differently, period. Yes. You know, everybody's just got a different reaction. So that person was very calm and collected. Somebody else may be screaming their...
Brains out. Some people get that laser focus. Yeah. Laser focus. And then other people are chicken little. You know, the sky is falling. Fight or flight. Fight or flight. Fight or flight. And you know, man, that lady, that girl losing her husband freaking 10 days ago, she wasn't about to lose her baby or her own life. That's right. What a trooper she is, man. She's a stud. So Alec Baldwin, when Alec Baldwin was sitting on the tarmac and refusing to get off of his phone or his iPad. Yeah, it was because he was playing a game called Words with Friends. Now, I had never heard of Words with Friends before Alec Baldwin was playing it on the tarmac. Now I know. You see, pal, that's who I am and you're nothing. Gosh, just because I hadn't heard of it. He hates you. Well, I hadn't heard of words with friends, but that doesn't. But he hates you. Yeah, apparently. Hang on just a second. Sorry. Put that coffee down. I was just having a drink of coffee. Put that coffee down. You said that already. Put that coffee down. Second prize instead of steak. I'm going to put the coffee down then. I would do it. Anyway, this words with friends. There's a chick.
that lived in Chicago named Megan Lawless. It's a real name. I didn't make it up. She's not in pornography. She's 32 years old. And she played words with friends. And apparently, if you want to, you could play a stranger. Sure. A random opponent. And so in November of 2009, she selected 31-year-old Jasper Jaspers. True story. I'm not making that name up. Mikey, you can't get them on the radio and make up names. Listen, I'm not making up Megan Lawless, and I'm not making up Jasper Jaspers. Jaspers. His name is Jasper Jaspers. You can't just make stuff up, Mikey. Seriously. Her name's Megan Lawless. It's now going to be Megan Jaspers, maybe, right? Yeah. Is that the deal? Well, she's from Chicago. He is from the Netherlands. Ah. Wow. You are joking. Long distance. Great. Great. Anytime we don't know what an accent is, we do that one. 100%. It's Dutch. Yeah. That was identical Dutch. Identical Dutch. It's Dutch. Dutch sounds like this. Oh, yeah. Lars. Perfect. So, yeah. 31-year-old guy from the Netherlands. They started playing, having a good time.
Kept playing. Games led to online chatting. And the chatting led to talking on the phone. Sexting. And the talking on the phone, no. The talking on the phone led to love. Woods, love. It led to love. The love. Seldonging led right to Seldonging. No. I met some guys from the Netherlands when I was traveling. They were crazy. No Seldonging? Didn't lead to that. It led to love. Okay. And then the love. Led to a trip. No, not that. It led to a trip over the pond, as they call it. Love making. Across the pond. Across the pond. And then to Chicago. Across the threshold into the bedroom. No. And then crossing the pond led to... Falling in love. Crossing the pond is a weird way to say making love. Yeah. That I've never heard. That's like a creepy way to say making love. I have never heard that. Cross the pond. Cross the pond. Gallop the meadow. Yeah. And then falling in love, you know, led to them. Now they're going to get married. That's cool. Yeah. She couldn't.
finding guys in Chicago. It's a pretty big city. She might not have been looking. She likes some word selection. Get some clown from the Netherlands over here. Stop it. I think it's great. I think it's beautiful. I do too. I do. I think it's really nice. They liked each other's words. Yeah. They had something in common. That is wild. What if they really don't get along at all? But they stay. They stay words with friends. Yeah. So they split. They split up. Yet they really have a good thing going. But they want to stay words with friends. Friends with words. Friends with words now. So they're in that stage where they're kind of friends with words. Right. Which is just dirty. Which never works. Never works because one wants more words than the other. And her friends are like, how did you meet him? Mutual friend who lives in Amsterdam. No way. If she told her friends that story, they'd be like, I'm a... That'd be really romantic, right? Yeah, heck yeah. It's weird to me. I'd like it. They weren't even looking for it. It found them. It's a crazy story, man. Most people wouldn't even believe it, you know, that two months ago I didn't even speak English. Yeah. But thanks to Megan, I'm, you know, living here in Chicago. How do you like Chicago? I'm already, like, adopting the accent.
Yeah. You're really not. I'm trying. Jasper, you're not even close. Well, I was trying to do the Chicago accent. Cubs or White Sox? At this point, man, I'm just freaking happy to be here. Try to say the Bears. That might help you. The Bears. Not bad, right? Perfect. How about sausage? How about you don't try to work at... It's not sexy. It wasn't a wiener joke. Into everything we do, man. They love sausage in Chicago. Much like Jay Isbell. Wow. Why do you have to take a shot at Jay? Yeah. Thanks, Lars. For no apparent reason. That's not Lars. That's Jasper. No, I'm not sure who it is. The Dutch lover. That's right. I don't get it. It's a new character on the Mikey show. Jasper, the Dutch lover. Jasper, the words with friends guy. That's right. All right, we're going to play rate him. Jay's going to give us a celebrity. We will rate on a scale of one to ten. All right. You play along in your car. Tell us how you feel. Go, Jay. Okay. Amy Winehouse. No, yeah, it is. It is. Morbid. I'm not talking about now. Okay. What are we rating exactly? Just them as a human? You're rating the looks. Okay. That's what I wanted to know. And I'm talking.
Prime. Not end. You know, Jay, I was pretty sure you didn't mean now. Yeah. The present. Yes. Six. Woods. Four. She's got that mole that bothers me. Had that mole. L-O-B? Definitely six. Wow. If it weren't for her teeth, she'd be higher. I agree with that wholeheartedly. Yeah. Not my scene. Something sexy about her. And I believe she had a very nice figure. It got a little too gaunt because of some of the things that she was doing. Which made it kind of weird that Jay used her. Yeah. Right. Well, it kind of looks like somebody smacked her in the face with a shoe. It does a little bit. But you still gave her a six? I gave her a four. Oh, you gave her a four? Yeah. I've had worse. Trust me. But. She has. Who's next? Karen Carpenter? No. Uma Thurman. Uma. Caroline Kennedy. Thurman.
Oh, my God. Oh, God. Oh, well. Oh, geez. Uma Thurman is tough. She is tough, dude. I mean, it's almost not fair that you gave us Uma. It just depends on what light you catch Uma in. That's it, yeah. Sometimes she looks amazing. Sometimes she looks like eagle. You're 100% right. Is it fluorescent? Do we have fluorescence? Or are we working with spots? What kind of light? Sunlight. Sunlight, ah. I'm picturing, let's say she walks in the room. She walks in the room right now. She is a solid eight. In this room? Solid eight. She walks in the door, solid eight. Absolutely. If she's in the sunlight, I feel like she would look fabulous. Woods? Yeah, a little puffy for my taste, but she, yeah, there's a puff. I feel like she looks like an eagle. And by the way, you can call 570-1949. Well, every woman is bird, mouse, or... Or clown. But she's got a particular... Yeah, she's bird. Well, she's bird. She's bird. She's bird. Eagle eye. Yeah. Yes. I think her feet smell. I don't know. You look at her. Yeah. She takes her shoes off. I can see that. And there's like a little toe cheese. And she was in... When she was in Kill Bill, you see the toes. And you can see... She had foxy feet? She was trying to move her feet. Yeah.
Are they all bony and bunion-y? It's going to slide. Yeah, I bet she has a corn problem. Oh, for sure. What do you give her? It depends on the day. She could go anywhere from a 7 to a 10. I'll give her, I guess, a 8 and a half. Wow. Jay? You have another name? Yeah. Okay. Now, I can do dudes, too, right? We can rate dudes. Yeah. If you're bi-curious and you want to do dudes, have at it. I'm always going to stop you. I can be objective. Yes. Oh, me too. That's all we're looking for. Jack Black. Oh, man. Dude, that's not... That's just not fair. Next. Come on. You're being... He's trying to be... It's like saying me. You're just trying to get a low score out of us. No. I'm just trying to set a scale. Really? You think we're going to say that Jack Black is an eight? Right. He looked good in that one movie, The Holiday, I believe it was, with that.
Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. He was almost like a perfect 10. No, no, no. He looked just like Ryan Gosling in that movie. Yeah. He was just like Bradley Cooper. You couldn't tell. Is that Jack Black or Bradley Cooper? I think he's talented, so I would give him a 6. I'd give him a 6. That's not what we're talking about. I can't help it. I'd give him a 6. He's a 6 because he has a nice smile, and if he did some things, he could look real sharp. Yeah, I'd give him a 6. He looks unkempt. Unkempt. Yeah, he's unkempt. All right. Okay, Julia Roberts. Stop laughing. You've got to give me time period. Pretty Woman. Oh, wow. Nine. Nine. Absolutely a nine. Absolutely. She's got a bass mouth. I'm all the way in. She's got a bass mouth. I would say a nine, too, until she starts the laugh. The laugh makes everything stretched out. It really widens things. I love the bass mouth. I love the bass mouth. Love it. Big player in Woods' mind. In my repertoire. Okay, this is a tough one. Courtney Love.
That's not tough. It's not? No. Courtney Love's, I mean, what am I supposed to picture here? Not drunk. What do you conjure up when you think of Courtney Love? You know what I think of? Somebody passing out in the middle of the Bronx. With only one shoe on. Yes. With one shoe on. A scarf that doesn't match her outfit. A cigarette behind her ear. A cigarette behind her ear and lipstick smeared all across her right cheek. I don't, you know. She's a five. Courtney Love? Wow. She's a five. Oh. No. Higher? No. Lower. Yes. She's a three. I don't want to be mean. I think he's setting me up. I think she can't. Same thing, like if she did some stuff. I've seen her look good. Yeah. She's looked nice before. She's looked like a solid seven. But when she was with, back in Nirvana's heyday, when Kurt Cobain was with her and I had the biggest crush on Kurt Cobain, I was like.
What? Yeah. A lot of people were. She looks like a two. Give me another. Okay. Kelly Osbourne. Now. Now. Have you seen her now? Yeah. She's blonde. She's blonde. She's on a talk show with... I think she... You know, I think she's... Jay lives for me being uncomfortable. Yeah. I think she's... You can say five. You can say five. Five. What? She's better looking than a five right now. Yeah, she's a five. I'd say a six. She's pretty big. You're like, what? She's a six. Yeah. Last one, Jake. Last one. Jenna Jameson. I don't know what she looks like. What? So, for his last one, he decided that he would give Mikey, me. Michael Esparza. We're talking about beauty. Her beauty. Yeah. I know what it'll do. I'll give him a porn star. You know why? A girl that...
Overdosed first. Yes. The first was a person that overdosed. And his last, for me, was a person that is very well known for her adult films. Yes. Very well known. What he wanted to do was, he went, listen, I don't like the bit. I love the bit. I'll kill it. I'm just going to torch these ashes right here. That's right. Mike is going to... He's probably going to die. Yeah, he'll die. Here's the thing. When it comes to me and they say, hey, Jay, what do you think of Jenna Jameson? I'll say, I couldn't say. I've never seen a pornography. But then I'll catch mine. I'll catch mine. But then I'll be like, we all have seen her. Answer the question. Heyday, Jenna Jameson. Eight. Heyday, nine. Never seen her. I feel like the biggest creep right now. Why? I'm never doing this bit again. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay to think that pornography stars are attractive. Yes. It's okay. They're women. They're people just like you and me. I just wish that of all. They put their condom on. What? One leg at a time, just like the rest of us. I just wish that of all people, you know, of all people, he could have just come up with some, hey, Mike, what about Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde?
He was trying to get a temperature on what kind of... Yeah. I just want to make it uncomfortable. Some of these women are ugly hot, I thought. So it was like... Dirty hot. Dirty hot. Yeah. That's fun. She's pretty hot. Matt, I know this is going to creep you out a little bit. Debbie Boone. Debbie Boone. You light up my life. I slept. Oh, boy. Casey Anthony. is back in the news because she's... She's a seven. Eight and a half. Eight and a half, Jay? Casey Anthony, I'm afraid, is a solid eight. Yeah, she's a solid eight. You guys are crazy. Hey, listen. She is a crazy person. And if she did what we think she did, she's an awful person. You're saying eight and a half heyday or eight and a half now? Or whatever. Listen. Physically, she is... Very, very pretty. She's got a really pretty face. She's got skills. She's got skills. Two major assets. How about now, Mike? What this is like, it's like hooking you up to monitors. Like an EKG. Beep, beep. I just try to see how you're feeling. Now I want to throw up.
No, no, no. Now. Now. Now. Bye, Mike. Now. Oh, well, I'm speechless now. Why are you the way that you are? She likes my breasts. She likes my breasts. My. What is this one's name? I hate so much about the things that you choose to be. Because the good news is you're fired. That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over. Well, you take lemons and you try to make some lemonade. You guys are creeps. High-speed chase still going on. No way. Woods, you hear about what happened with Charles Barkley? No. Left his mic open. Oh, no. During a game. Did you know that he was hawking Weight Watchers? No.
Yeah, he was, and he might not be anymore. Oh, boy. Uh-oh. We'll play you the audio next. Okay, I want to celebrate the new year with a new phone, but the holidays have me totally tapped. Come on, man, wake up. Good morning. And now back to the Mikey Show with Mikey. For those of you that have never seen me, I'm a short, chunky guy. Would. I just try not to be. The dirty, creepy pig in my head. Lauren. Do you have coconut water? And Jay. I'm wearing cargo shorts right now. On FM 94.9. You are wild card weekend picks in just a minute. You're listening to the Mikey Show. Hopefully you're an M1. An M1 is a Mikey Show listener. It means when you call in, you turn your radio down, get to the point, and don't cuss. Mikey shows myself, Woods, L-O-B, and Jay. Woodsy, what is the situation at Penn State? I'm going to tell you about that, Mike, but first I wanted to tell you that sports is brought to us today by our friends at Dave and Buster's. Penn State, the Nittany Lions have hired a new head coach, and this gentleman is Bill O'Brien, and he currently works for the New England Patriots. He is going to continue to be their offensive coordinator because they are in the playoffs, so he's got a job to do.
get them to the Super Bowl. But once that is over, he will be the new head coach at Penn State University, taking over for Joe Paterno. Big shoes to fill. Also, the Raiders actually made a really good move. They hired the Green Bay Packers director of football operations, Reggie McKenzie. He's going to be their next general manager. As you guys all know, for years, Al Davis was really the one making the call. They made some... Terrible picks in the draft and some weird free agent signings. This guy should bring a lot of stability to the Raiders organization. Which is bad news for us. Correct. It's almost as if it's a new team joining the NFL. And the reason I say that is because it's been Al. Yeah, it was always Al's team. And it was his decisions. Much like what's... going on in Dallas with the Cowboys. Jerry Jones will not relinquish his general manager duties. And they've missed the playoffs three out of the last four years. I mean, so stubborn and just wants his hand in everything. Yeah. You know, that's a good move for them, I think. Speaking of, it's a big weekend. Wild card weekend. Cincinnati heads into Houston. And even though the Cincinnati Bengals have been white hot.
I think Houston wins at home, would he? I do too. I picked Houston, but I'll tell you what, since he has a chance, Andy Dalton has the flu right now, but yeah, he was in the hospital for the flu. I didn't know that. Yeah, but they've got a chance. This kid's a winner. I'm taking Houston. Detroit goes into New Orleans, and I think Drew Brees does what Drew Brees does. Absolutely, man. As cool as it would be to see Matthew Stafford and the Lions get a win, I think Drew Brees is just too strong. My upset is the Falcons on the road going into New York to play the Giants. I think Atlanta wins that game. You know, Captain Dumbface, which is Eli Manning for the New York Giants, has had one of the greatest seasons he's ever had. I think they win at home and beat the Falcons. Matty Ice doesn't do it for me. Pittsburgh Steelers go to Mile High Stadium to play the Denver Broncos, and I think it goes without saying. Pittsburgh Steelers will win that game, and they will win it really big. Tebow has not played well the last three weeks of the season, and I mean at all. He won the streak of six games in a row, and Ben Roethlisberger is now hurt. He's got a bum ankle. This one could come down to the wire, and we all know how things go in the fourth quarter when it comes down to the wire for the Broncos. Still got to lean towards the Steelers, though, if I was a betting man. Yeah. I mean, they're real good. Oh, they're strong. They are strong. It's going to be a big weekend for...
L.O.B., I'm sure, because her boyfriend is a major Steeler fan, right? Mm-hmm. Do you guys ever root against each other, like Eagles, Pittsburgh? I don't know if in the history of our relationship they've played each other. All right, before we went to break, I told you Charles Barkley had a microphone that was opened up, and he didn't know it. And they were rolling tape. He says stupid stuff even when the mics are on. Yeah, absolutely does. Well. He's the new spokesperson for Weight Watchers. And he said this. I've known Weight Watchers for three months. I have to lose two pounds a week. I'm at 38 pounds now. They come and weigh me every two weeks. I ain't never missed a weigh-in. Never going to. You feel better? I do. I feel much better. But I ain't giving away no money, Kev. I ain't giving away no free money. I thought this was the greatest scam going, getting paid for watch sports. This Weight Watchers thing is the biggest scam. Yeah. Now, before everybody gets all freaked out... Oh, boy, Charles. Before everybody gets freaked out, I don't think he said anything wrong. He didn't. He didn't say anything wrong. Because what he's saying is, hey, I'm getting paid for doing a great job. And he feels better. It's a win-win. Yeah. Now, it's being...
portrayed as if he said something really bad. He didn't. He's not saying that Weight Watchers is a scam. In fact, he was like, I feel great. I haven't missed a weigh-in. I'm not going to miss a weigh-in. Now, this one is a little bit stranger. They're calling a game and the microphone's open and they talk about how bad the game is. Man, I can't stand to watch this Atlanta Hawks team play. This game is terrible. It is. Look at this team. 31% God Almighty. Yeah, but this is great for what you're saying. You setting it up. Man, the Hawks ain't got... They got nothing but a bunch of nice guys. See, if I were the Hawks, they're the team to me. I'd try to do anything to get Dwight Howard. So you can have anybody on our team. Who, them? Yeah. He doesn't want to come here. I love hearing it, though. Oh, yeah. It's the behind-the-scenes. I love behind-the-scenes stuff. Yeah, because you know that when Troy Aikman and Joe Buck are calling a turd game, the mics go off, and they're like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. I'm so hungover. Why did we go out there last night? This sucks. This game is terrible. You had an engineer listening that goes, oh, my gosh. Please, turn that off. It's like, look out for him. Yeah. I mean, it's Charles Barkley. Yeah. You know something's going to happen. You've got to have a delay with him. Yes. So I found this out this morning.
from talking to L.O.B. Woods and Jay, but apparently Google is an incredibly cool company to work for. Oh, yeah. But, and L.O.B. was saying that the cooler the company, the more productive they get. Yeah, the more they have like perks and incentives for their employee, the more productivity they have. Absolutely. And check this out, though. See, these are some of the perks that offices will give you. And Jay was actually offered a job by a company that did this very thing. Scooters and skateboards. So cool. In the office. It was insane. That's wild. They were running around on them. Yeah, it was the weirdest job interview I'd ever been to. It was MP3 here in town. And I went over and they had electric scooters in the hallway. And the guy's like, hey, have a look around. And I was like, oh, so you're going to show me? And he's like. Just jump on a scooter. I jump. Wow. That's killer. And then they went by rooms and there was like a masseuse. Like there's somebody rubbing somebody out on the shoulders. No way. All these different coffee booths. That's a little. All these different coffee booths. He said, yeah, and there's lunch that's brought in every day. I was like, oh my gosh. Pixar, Google, Facebook. Mm-hmm. They all do that. Yeah. They all do the scooter skateboard bit. Yeah. Foosball tables. Foosball tables are used at Google, Apple, Pixar. 94.9 has one.
And Groupon. Why, FM 94.9's foosball table is the best that I have ever played on. Thank you, Sports Chalet. Why, Sports Chalet offers the best in foosball. And ping pong. Ping pong ball. Pop a shot basketball. And accessories. And accessories. For all your game room needs. Tell them Jason. All your game room needs. All your game room needs. What the hell? Your game room needs a foosball table. Is it saying that your game room needs something or is it like needs? Oh, I need it. For all your game room needs. Here's another perk. Red walls. I read that and I went, that would be cool. Cool. Red wall. Yeah. I remember that from the social network. They kind of replicated the offices of Facebook. Yeah. I remember them having that vibrant and no cubicle walls or anything like that. Oh, that's brilliant. Glass offices so you can see everyone's kind of even. That's cool. Yeah, that is cool. Orange furniture is a perk. We used to have that at my company, Reach Local, my old company. Everything was orange. Did you like it? Yeah. It was cool. Why would you like that? Because I guess it's like.
Yep, or something. Yeah, it's just fun. That's fun. And last is Slides. YouTube has one. Oh, are you kidding me? YouTube, Red Bull, Epic Games, and Google all have Slides. Man, Google sounds like a party. Yeah. It's unbelievable. Yeah, tell everybody what you were telling me off the air about Google. The company that I used to work for, Reach Local, are partners with Google. So every now and then reps would get to fly out and go to the Googleplex. And they would come back with these stories of what you could do there. And some of the perks that they had. Look, if you want to get your hair cut, there's somebody there to cut your hair. There's like a barber. And it's all on the house. Yeah. It's all on the house. There's a cafeteria there where you walk in. It's more like a food court. Yeah, food court. You can walk in and get anything you want. What about if I want pizza? Done. And it's not like cafeteria pizza. No, it's good pizza. Holy cow. Yeah, you want a Nantucket nectar, peach flavor? Grab one. They got it. Grab one and take it back to your desk. How do I know they're going to have Nantucket Nectar? Because they ask you what you like, man. And they'll just juice everybody up with what they want. Wait, wait, wait. So in other words, I hire you at Google and I say, what's your favorite thing to drink? I like Red Bull. And they'll get it for you. Yeah, it's there. Everything you want is there. And if you think about it, they spend a lot of money doing that.
But I don't want to leave at 5 o'clock. I'm not a 9 to 5er if I work there. Yeah. Because why would I be? Right. You got a gym there? Yeah, there's a gym. If I want to go work out and then I want to get a massage after and then go back to work till 8, I'm going to do it. Yeah. And they don't have to pay you very much because they can genuinely say to you, we're going to cut your expenses. Right. You're not going to pay for food. Yeah, or haircuts or massages or dry cleaning or gym membership. No longer an expense for you. You'd say, I mean, yeah, you can cut my salary if I get all that stuff for free. They have like a really low turnover rate, high productivity rate. Yeah. What if you get that one guy that's just going in there every other hour is like, you know, how do they regulate? They don't. They don't care. I'd just be in the massage room all day. You wouldn't be there in the first place unless you were... A worker. Yeah. And that's the deal. Like, I think that you would feel bad. Right. Because they're so cool. And it's competitive people, like very innovative people. They encourage you to do these little, like, wacky little side projects. It's just a free thinking. You know, it's way different from how things were 40 years ago. That drove me crazy about MP3. They said when they were trying to hire me, they're like...
Well, tell us what you want to do when you work here. And I was like, well, I want to know what you want me to achieve. And they're like, no, no. You figure out what you're going to do. I need boundaries. I need, you know. Guidelines. I did not take the job. I've never heard of that. Oh, yeah. You tell us what you want to do. It's pretty cool. What do you need? I'm like, well, I'd like a car. And I like, you know, X amount of dollars. I'm like, done. Why did you turn it down? You're a clown. They went out of business. Too much longer. Nickelback has just made a statement that came out on Yahoo News that says that they don't follow music trends. I can tell. A lot of top 40 hits over the years. Yeah, they have. Pretty much dominated the pop scene. Are they pop? Yeah, I think they're definitely pop. Aren't they rock? Well, the deal is the reason that... Nickelback is thought of as such douches is because of the lyrics. Yeah. Flat out. Straight up. So it pops into his head and he says it. Yeah, clearly. He just writes down lyrics, doesn't go back over them. Stream of consciousness. One take and then they're done. What? What the hell is on Joey's head?
Okay. It's Chad Kroger, lead singer of Nickelback. It's called a hat. Yeah. It's a ball cap. You didn't ask someone before you wrote the song, hey, what is that Joey said? What is that Joey said? Are you sure? I'm positive. I'm on the turn of looking to pics. Oh, God. Get the guitar. Get the guitar. That song? Yeah. Do the rock star song. Rock star. Well, that's not even their worst song. Rockstar is way worse. It's way worse. And I mean, and I don't mean a little bit. I mean way worse. Lyrically? Lyrically. How did it happen? Give me some Rockstar. I need to hear it. Can you play it? Do you have it? Of course he does.
Oh, how dare you dare. It's a ringtone. Can you give us a full version instead of just a ringtone? Not the one in the car. Yeah, the text notifier. You're so freaking cruel. Is this off your iPod? I found this record. Right. I'm through a standing in line of clubs I'll never get in. It's like the bottom of the ninth and I'm never gonna win this. Life hasn't turned out quite the way I want it to be. I got it. Oh, God. This is a little Wait, wait, wait. Start over. From the top. I need a deal over. Take two, Chad. One, two, three. She brought her friend when Kate was hotter than her and ended up with her... Get a cake. Identical pickleback. Identical pickleback. It's identical pickleback. You really could do anything. You just stream conscious. Just look around the room. Open your pantry.
I see some ketchup in here and some hot dogs, too. I think I'll grill some more and have a dad with you. I think I want to have a good night. It's a barbecue. That's exactly what they do. Exactly right. You go to the movies. All right. One, two, three. It's called Something About Simple, but I'll load tonight, and if I'm all to do it, get your movie shoes on. Wow. That's ridiculous. Oh, man. Oh, my God. I told you I was going to have stupid head today. Oh, man. I told you. It's a gift. It is. It is. 5701949 is our phone number. Call us if you were on the freeway and you saw any of that high-speed chase that was going on this morning here in San Diego. Oh, yeah. Why? Because they called it.
Stopped it. How crazy is this? So weird. I had even said, I've never seen a high-speed chase that worked. Does that mean he's free? I think so. For now. Yeah? Yeah. I mean, they know they were after him because it was a stolen car. Right. So they've got the make and the model and the plates and everything. Plus, they can keep following him from above. Yeah, CHP. So they stop the ground chase. Helicopter chase going. Is it because traffic is about to get bad? Probably. It engages people. Yeah. If it engages people, they just pull it off. And it makes sense. If you can follow them from the air, you're good. Yeah. You just, you know, you just watch where they go. Yeah. And then you tell the cops, go here. By the way, if you're just tuning in, high speed chase this morning started in Mission Valley. Yep. Got onto the five, went northbound five, went into a residential area in PB. And that turned into over by the sports arena, where, by the way, they let a guy out of the car who went running. Crazy. And the car was going again. I know. It doesn't say yet. It's not confirmed. But we're getting all kinds of... If they catch him, they're going to catch the other guy for sure. Yeah, we'll let him out. Well, what's he going to say? I don't know where he is. Yeah. We don't know who he is. As good as mine. I don't know. I just met the guy. Yeah. I think he has OnStar. Yeah. You can call us with this one.

Even though they can talk. And Jay. Just a man trying to do the right thing. On FM 94.9. This is pretty badass. Van Halen did a little club gig. You know they're getting back together. And they did a little club gig in New York City. New York City. Get a rope. That'd be awesome, man. You know, it's the whole... It's the old crew. It's David Lee Raw. No Michael Anthony, though. He's a bass player, bro. But he's... Dude, you know how... Was he the signature sound of Van Halen? Oh, I'm about to get you. I'm about to get you so bad. I mean, come on. Okay, really? Geddy Lee is a great bass player, but like... Hold on.
Oh, I know what you're going to say. Do you know what I'm going to say? Yeah, yeah, you got me there. And I got you. You got me there. He is the master harmonizer with David Lee Roth. Yes. All those dancing out of weight. That's freaking Michael Anthony. You're right. He's great in that Jack Daniels bass. What are they going to do about that? Wolfgang, I think. I think it's going to be Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, who has been playing with them for a while. Well, I know, but is he able to do the... Not like Michael Anthony. You're right. Family members, though. They get good harmonies. Same tonality. Yeah, but he's not his dad. He's Eddie's son. Oh, never mind. I don't know anything about Van Halen. Van Halen was always my favorite band in the world. So one time, the very only time that I ever got to meet Eddie Van Halen was when they were filming a video in Los Angeles. And I went up and I was in the dressing room. And I was interviewing Michael Anthony. And it's pretty cool. And I had a question because I was such a big fan. And I said, I stopped the tape recorder. And I said, listen, I'm going to ask you a question, but it doesn't really have anything to do with what the average fan would know about. This is for you. This is for me. I said, there was an album. They did an album called Diver Down. And there's a song on there.
Where the bass is really, really different. Here, I'll play it for you. Listen to this. Do you remember this album, Woods? I remember Diver Down. I don't know this. What song is this? Where Have All the Good Times Gone. Oh, yeah. This song is great. Do you remember this song? Gives me chills. Yeah. Oh, yeah, dude. It's so good. What's that stuff? Incredible. So, anyway, I'm asking him about all these songs. And I said to him, listen, there's a song that you guys do, and I was trying to find it. It's been so many years that I can't remember it. And the bass ducks out. Right. The song sounds great, and all of a sudden the bass just ducks out completely. Right about that time, Eddie Van Halen walks into the dressing room and goes into the bathroom, and he leaves the door open, and he's going number one. And I asked this question. And when I ask it, you can tell that Michael Anthony looks...
Almost scared. Nervous. And he does the universal expression for shh. He points at the bathroom. Oh, boy. Yep. And then Eddie came out of the bathroom and walked back out. And Michael Anthony said, it's his thing. Soar subject? Yeah. Yeah. Didn't want him stepping on his. I don't know what the, it's whatever the. Somebody will call and tell me. It's the one that goes... Does that ring a bell? No. Eddie was a douche. I met him, hung out with him for a little bit. He hit on Kim right in front of me like I wasn't there. Valerie was there with him. She stormed out as soon as he saw him hitting on my wife. They had two limos to drive. She got in the front one. He walked up and got in the front limo. She got out, went and got in the back limo. He got out, went and got in the back limo. She got out and got in the front limo. Oh, my God. Over your wife. Over my wife. Oh, my God. That's pretty badass. I was standing right next to her. I'm like, that's my wife. That's pretty crazy. We have a picture like this, and he's looking at her like, really? Oh, my gosh. I need to see that. Kim Isbell's pretty fucksy. Yeah. She was in a Spearmint commercial. Oh, yeah. She was in a Spearmint commercial because she was one of the Spearmint girls. Yep.
There's going to be a new Girl Scout cookie coming out called Savannah Smiles. Yes. Cut it out. Oh, boy. No. Cut it out. Keep them coming. Keep them coming. They're never good, the new ones. Yeah, they are. There's nothing wrong with the glasses. At some point, they didn't have Samoyans, and now they do. But now they do. It all is right with the world. They didn't have what? What are they, Samoyans? Samoyans? Samoyans? What is it? Samoyan? I don't know. Keep going. They're Samoyans, right? I don't know what they are. Samoas. Samoas. Yeah, that's what they are. Thank you, baby. Jesus. Samoyas. No, no, no. They're putting an I in there. What is it? I don't know. You're putting a Y in there. It's Samoas. Samoa. Yeah, there you go. Samoa. That's right. He's saying it like a sequoia, like a tree. Oh. Samoa. They're delicious, though. They're the greatest cookie ever made. And all that are out are perfect. You don't need any more new ones. Yeah, the last new one they made was like some berry one, and it's hideous. But does it say what's in these? Yeah, this one's supposed to be a cool and crisp lemon wedge. No. Come on. I like lemon. I like lemon cookies. Lemon cookies? Delicious. Those are for your grandmother. They are. Stop eating lemon cookies.
Hello, dear. Would you like another lemon wedge? Would you like some sweet tea? I've got some hot candy on the table. Oh, man. Girl Scout cookies are good. Apparently the founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Lowe, was born in Savannah, Georgia. That's why. Oh, Savannah Smiles. Savannah Smiles. They should just be called Savannah's or something. Savannah's. What's Savannah Smiles? Wow, why are you so mad? Man, why do you hate Girl Scouts? I was a Girl Scout. M1 Mark from El Cajon. Are you there? Yeah, hey, Mikey, what's happening? What's up? Hey, you made my morning by talking about Ben Halen. That Ben Halen song with the bass faked out, that's on Fair Warning, a song called So This Is Love. That's it. Look at you. That's it. Listen. Did you hear that? What the hell? Did you hear it disappear? Yeah. But I mean, it really disappears. Yeah. It was, and I remember listening to the record and thinking to myself, Wow, the bass really disappeared abruptly. No doubt. And Michael Anthony, you could tell, didn't like it. Hell no. But it wasn't his idea. Why would you lower it in the middle of... I know. Why not start the track out lowered? I'll tell you why. It could be because you've had a case. You've drank about a case. It's 8 o'clock in the morning when you're mixing it. You're high on cocaine. You're high on cocaine.
And there's a bottle of Jack Daniels that you're... Between your legs. Yeah, between your legs. And your name's Eddie. But he tried to tell the producer. The producer was like, well, that's... Well, why don't I do it from the beginning? No! Yeah, probably. Just tune it out. I don't care. I mean, but it's so abrupt. Listen, isn't that weird? That is weird. It sounds like someone took a dial on the track. Yeah, just... Yeah. I have a question for you. Go ahead. Are you going to go? Yes, I think so. I think so, yeah. Yeah, you got to go. I'm going with you. M1 Kylie from San Diego. Are you there? Yes. What did you want to say? I wanted to say that it's on January 29th that we're starting selling Girl Scout cookies. Will you come sell us some? Yeah, just stop by here. You'll be fine. Make your whole quota. That's right. All but the Savannah Smiles. Yes. Will you have that new flavor? Yes. Savannah Smiles?
Do you have a truck that you can carry all the cookies for Mikey in? How dare you? Mikey might need a house. You're going to need a willow. How dare you? And I don't really like cookies, but I love Girl Scout cookies. They are the best. They're the greatest. I'm a mouse-watering. Look at Jay. He looks at me like, Mike, you know, don't be such a liar. You don't have to lie. I know you like cookies. I know you love Samoyas. One, look at those breasts. I can tell you like cookies. Thank you for the call. Okay. January 29th. January 29th. It's like freaking, what is that, 23 days I'm in. Can't wait. Ralph Rubio will be in the studio. Yes, he will. In just a little bit. They've got some new flavors, and we're going to be talking about it. It's pretty good. Stuff looks really good. Woods, I like to do this every once in a while because it's a local thing, and it lets people know about something local. You found the greatest sushi place. Oh, my God. in the world this is a problem for me because as you guys know anybody that's listening to this show for any amount of time i said live on the air listen sushi's a bit yeah it's a bit yes meaning you just go there because you want to be cool right i retract my statement first of all i retract my statement um i have a problem a full-on problem an addiction yep and it's to uh sushi
Freaking sushi. Happy sushi. Happy fish. Happy fish. Yeah, happy fish on the 101. Really? It's in Encinitas. I went there yesterday by myself. Tell me what to... Oh, wow. That's a problem. I was the only... There was another couple that was in a far table. I sat at the sushi bar and talked to the guy that made my rolls for me. And I had... Was he Japanese? No, he's Mexican. There's Jose, I think. You know what I like to do when it's a Mexican sushi maker? I like to say, so, what part of Japan are you from? I witnessed that. Domo Origato. Konnichiwa. Konnichiwa. I sat there and I ordered some fish. Mike, you would die. It's these pieces of tuna. Sashimi. Yeah, and it's got jalapenos on top. And all of this stuff. You'd love it. First of all, you would. Then I got the spicy tuna roll. I don't like everything that has... I do. But you know what I do now? What? I get it with soy paper, not seaweed. I can't eat seaweed. I get it with soy paper. I feasted on this roll by myself. I sat at the sushi bar and I was like... Soy paper. And I almost got more.
Is this a new place? I almost got more. I don't know how new it is. It's changed names. It's by Cat and Keno. Yeah, yeah. It's changed a lot, but it's been Happy Fish for a while. They have a happy hour there. The sushi is cheap. The drinks are cheap. I'm in. I sat there and ate sushi. I have a freaking... My mouth's watering. I want to go back today for lunch. You call me when you're ready to go. Tell me the kind you get. Next time you go. They have so many... They have one... We went there when my friend was in town last weekend. And they've got one called the cutback roll that's really good. The tuckback? Yeah. That's inappropriate. Is it really called that? The cutback. Oh. Like cutback in surfing. I thought she said that too. I thought you said that too. The cutback roll. Tuckback. The tuckback roll. I don't want that roll. It comes in a robe. Where has it been? It comes in a robe. A kimono. Yes. They have one called the beach bum that's really good. Dude. I'll go there. to the show if you want to. Yes. It's so good. I need it. Sushi in the AM? Done. It can't be done. It can't be done. Since I stopped eating junk food, all I crave is fish. That's good. And so I'm fiending for fish. I want fish. All right. Save all those clips. This next email came from M1 Nicole.
Mikey, I got invited to a big New Year's Eve party by a guy who likes me. I'm not interested in him, but he's nice, has a lot of friends, so I decided to go. The problem is, I got pretty drunk. I ended up kissing him at midnight. Then we made out a couple of times before the night ended. The old midnight drunk kiss. Now he won't stop calling and texting me, and I don't know what to do. Sleep with him. Oh, wow. That's one option. Just get it off the table. No. Don't. No. No, don't. No. Well, I think it's okay to text back or to not text back and he'll get the picture. Or be very succinct and not at all flirtatious in your text. Yes. Call him and fart into the phone.
That's an option. That's always an option. That would do it. Just call him and say, hey, look, you know what? Nah, come on. Nah, you've got to play games. You've got to play mind games. Yeah, you've got to play mind games. You've got to mess with his head. I would rather just know. I'd rather you just tell me. He's like, hey, you know what? I had a load of too much to drink. I would rather know. That's way too adult. That's way too adult, Jay. Write the letter K in a text. He'll get it. I could definitely do the succinct and to the point approach. Oh, yeah. I would do the fadeaway because that's how I roll. I do the fadeaway. Oh, I just do the no response. What would you do, LLB? Fadeaway. I don't think I could completely not respond because I'd feel too bad, but I would take a really, really long time and then be very short. It would sound like this. Texting, right? I would say, hey, I just wanted you to know I had a really good time with you the other night. How long later would you text? Six hours. Okay. And I would write. For sure. Oh, my gosh. Oh, that's it. That's it. It's over. No, see, me, the moron, I'd text back and I'd go. Oh, cool. I'd go, that's awesome. Hey, we should definitely get together sometime for dinner. I'd love to take you out to dinner. How long later? The next day. I would write back, super busy, but New Year's Eve was fun.
Oh, but see, that's leading me on now. It was fun. Making out was fun. She's horny. If you just wrote back super busy, I'm done with you. I'm deleting you from my phone. Super busy. I'll actually throw the phone in the toilet. After vomiting. But if you said New Year's Eve was fun, I would be... Thinking, oh, she loved the way I kiss, and she needs more of it. I probably would have wrote, have a good week. Meaning, don't text me the rest of the week. You can't, but you can't ignore what he said. So I think your first response, you can't, if he says, we should definitely go to dinner sometimes, and you say, have a good week. He's still not going to get the point. Super busy, but have a good week. Super busy nails it. And super busy, but have a good week. No, that's even leading on. No, it means don't text me the rest of the week. 570-1949. What is the proper response? I'm really good at the fadeaway. I've been on this merry-go-round many times. I've ridden many stallions upon that merry-go-round.
Save that clip. Yeah, save that clip. Ponies, stallions. So you're saying after a couple of drinks, it comes to be midnight, and you're with a guy, and just for old lang syne, you decide to make out with him. Yes. I mean, it's definitely the New Year's Eve. I'd narrow in about 8 o'clock on who I wanted. If he seemed to not be interested, I'd go to choice 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Then you'd end up with choice 19. Hey, everybody, we're all going to get laid. What does not interested look like? You know what I mean? With somebody else, maybe. Oh, he's with somebody. Then give her the time. Yeah, usually somebody else. Found out he had a girlfriend. I'm not going to bark up that tree. Right. But a kiss and a spoon, that's all you get in that instance. A kiss and a spoon. What is a spoon? It means that you go back to his place and she'll spoon with you. You'll go home with him? No, I've been in situations where everyone's staying in the house for the night and everything. Oh, no. I'm like, oh, boy, now I'm stuck. So I'll kiss you and you can lay with me. Oh, God, get it. Oh, that.
That's the worst. I better at least be hitting two bags on that. You know what I mean? Two bagger off the fence. Unfortunately. I don't know what that means. It's a double. Second base. Second base. Oh, no. At least second base. And maybe you, you know, your next girl. All right. All right. All right. No way. M1 Riches from Mission Valley. Are you there? I'm here. What do you think? I agree with Jay. Why not just be an adult about it? Why not just say, hey, or text him. Hey, you know what? If you don't want to talk to him, this is, this was an, I'm sorry that we kissed. You know, I had a good night, but I think it was a mistake and I don't want to lead you on. Boom. Chances are, if you're drunk kissing someone at midnight, you're not an adult. Yeah. That's true. Isn't that true? That's a great point. It's happened numerous times to people I've known, even married people I've known, and they just get so out of hand drunk, and then they kiss each other. Oh. And it was an accident. It was an accident? No, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, you go to Jay's parties. You go to Jay's parties. It's not my party. Listen. If two cars collide into one another at the corner of Friars and Frisee, that's an accident. Yeah.
Two people putting their tongues together at a party. That is not an accident. That is called willful, well, carnal knowledge. Carnal knowledge. That is carnal knowledge. Would you leave your wife if you found out she had too much wine and made out with another guy? Yes. You would leave her? Yes. You would leave your wife? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Undeniably. A kiss. Dude. You'd leave her. Listen to me. Okay, let's discuss. Let's discuss. Let's discuss. Let's discuss. I'm fascinated. Let's discuss. Let's discuss. If your wife has too much wine and ends up kissing a guy, she's done other stuff too. That's not necessarily true. And is willing to do other stuff. No. It's in her wheelhouse. It's in her wheelhouse. Well, listen. It's probably in... all of our wheelhouses to think about it, right? Right. To think about doing it. Now, if her inhibitions are way let down and she kisses some dude at a party. What if he went in to kiss her and the next thing she knows she's like, hey, hey. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You leave her? You got me. You actually, you solidified it for me. What Wood said was if her inhibitions will allow
A tongue kiss? Those inhibitions are naughty. They're naughty inhibitions. Aren't everybody's inhibitions naughty, though? Dude, your inhibitions are supposed to be with your wife. Right. If you can get to the point where you're making out with a neighbor, oh my gosh, you're willing to do other stuff. Aren't the inhibitions the stuff that stops you from making out with your neighbor? Mm-mm. Yes. When you're inhibited. When you're inhibited. It means... Your defense. Oh, yeah. We should be saying uninhibited. Uninhibited. Uninhibited. Yes. You'd leave her back. If she made out with a guy? Undeniably. Would you stay gone? Dude, listen. Would you file for divorce? Hang on. Think about it. Opposite. You know, I get drunk and end up kissing one of our neighbors. I make out with Amy. Which guy? Amy, across the street. Imagine I make out with... Sorry, Dom. Imagine I make out with Amy. What if you're playing pass the buck and it happened accidentally? Suck and blow, you mean? Yeah. Oh, that's a game. That's a game. What if the neighbor thought it was funny to start kissing you because everyone was laughing and watching? Wow. That would be okay. You don't go to those kind of parties. I'm not leaving anybody. I'm not leaving Rebecca if she plays that game.
Babe, that is no freaking excuse to play that game. So at your Super Bowl party, we can play suck and blow? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You just said we could. No, no, no. Weird. 570-1949. Be a part of the Mikey Show now. Text them at 949mikey at gmail.com or call Mikey now. 570-1949. More of the Mikey Show coming up in minutes on FM 94.9. Oh, oh, hi. Hi, Mike. I just got a text from Dom, by the way, that says you a-holes. I love it. It's Woods' fault. He wants to make out with Amy. Woods wants to. I did not. Woods wants to make out with Amy, Dom. I'm sorry. It's the pictures of Amy. You said it.

Keep it together. On FM 94.9. I'm a happy guy because in the studio with us right now is Mr. Ralph. Hey guys, it's an honor. Thanks for having me. It's an honor to have you in here, man. I appreciate that. You're San Diego icon. San Diego icon. And now Southern California and Arizona. And you guys are going in all kinds of different places. That's right. Heading east. I've had Rubio's in Tucson. I was just there this week, actually. That's awesome, man. I love Rubio's. And Ralph, I've talked to Ralph before. And you have such a fascinating story.
The way that you got into this business is a fascinating story. Tell people that have never heard how you got into the business of fish tacos. I'll give you the abbreviated version. I came down here to go to San Diego State back in 1973. Spring break, college students down in San Felipe, down in Baja, had my first fish taco. I'd never even heard of them before. I fell in love. I waited tables through college. I got some restaurant experience. All along thinking that one day I'm going to open a restaurant serving fish tacos because no one else was doing it. Down in San Felipe, we're eating fish tacos, drinking Coronas. There's all these college students. And so there's this demand, but nobody was doing it here. So in 1983, after I graduated and continued to work in the restaurant, so with my dad as my partner, my financial partner, my dad, Ray, we started Rubio's. We took over an old Orange Julius on Mission Bay Drive there in Pacific Beach, still there. and we put up our shingle, Rubio's Fish Tacos, and we gave it a go, and nothing happened. I mean, I thought it was going to be an instant success, but it took two years of just grinding it out. And after about a year or two, it just kind of took off. People started talking about us and writing about us, and then we opened our second store at San Diego State, and then it just grew from there. So we have 200 restaurants now. But I'll start it with that spring break trip down in San Felipe. 200 restaurants now? Yeah. That's...
Insane. That's awesome. I'm living the dream. I mean, it's pretty cool. Now, how close to that taco that you had down in Mexico is the Rubio's fish taco? It is virtually the same. I mean, I really wanted to... to match that flavor profile because, like I said, I loved it. Down in Mexico, they use whatever they catch, right? Sharks, sea bass. We use Alaskan pollock. It's a mild white fish because the flavor is really in the beer batter, which has all the spices like mustard and oregano and pepper. My mouth's water. Yeah, mine too. I'm dying. So actually, at my favorite fish taco stand when I'm 19 years old, I asked the guy, well, how do you make... the batter for the fish tacos, and I wrote it down back in the day before iPhones. I had this little pocket address book, and in the inside cover, I wrote down the ingredients that I just told you, the oregano mustard, and I carried that with me for 10 years. Oh, wow. And so when we got serious about starting Rubio's, my brother and I went in the kitchen, and we started mixing all these spices with the flour and the beer, and we came up with our own recipe.
And so that became the Rubio's beer batter. And so that's really where the flavor is. And then we add a red salsa, a little cabbage, lime, a little our secret white sauce, which is mayonnaise and yogurt. You know, kind of makes it gives a little tangy, creamy thing going on. It's really simple. Fish tacos are really simple, but they're really tasty. And then we put on a soft shell corn tortilla and it's amazing. Yeah, I'm dying right now. I'm dying. I want it. Rubio's is so good. And here's the thing. When you come to San Diego, there's a thing that happens and sounds like this. Hey, I got to take you to Rubio's. Oh, cool. What is it? It's fish tacos. Yep. Oh, fish tacos. Who would put a fish in a taco? And you go, just shut your mouth. Just shut up, Woods. Just trust me. Yeah. And then they take that first bite and they go, oh, wow. Right. It's outstanding. It's incredible. Now, you got two new takes on it. Right. You're doing something completely different. For the first time in 26 years. Wow. Now, will this be, because I know I'm going to like it, and so my question will be, don't take it away from me. The plan is to keep them on the menu. Yeah, I know. We're going to stop doing that as much as we can. We were doing these limited time promotions, and we bring things out, people would fall in love with them. The only thing that's seasonal for us is the langostino lobster burrito. That's really a November, December thing. You don't have a choice. I've had. Yeah, yeah.
Woods, it's every bit of heaven. It's so good. It's real good. Again, the inspiration for that was down in Baja. You know, Puerto Nuevo. You've been to Lobster Village. So we're eating our lobster one day and thinking, man, this would taste great in a burrito. You were right. We did it. You were right. Okay, so the new ones are the sesame soy fish taco and the avocado corn relish fish taco. And my salivary glands start working again. So the first one I want to talk about, though, is the avocado corn. Yes, right. Because the picture of it, yeah, you brought your iPad. I want you, just for the record, we wanted to bring some food, but because some policy, we couldn't bring it here. Which I don't. I called Adam and there is no policy. There is no policy. Really? Yes. Wow, we got some bad info. Was it Adam's info? Because if it was, I'm going to. There must have been a miscommunication. Yeah. Adam says that he thought they were bringing food. Well, I owe the Mikey show. Some tacos. You got to be careful, Ralph, though. It's like Pavlov. Like when you show Mikey a picture of a taco. It's true. He's singing. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. There we go. Yes. There we go. I love this music. This fish taco. This new fish taco that you have. Right. Has everything. Like, first of all, even if you were to just take the fish portion out of it, right? Right.
You could take some chips and just dip it into all the other delicious ingredients that are inside of the taco and enjoy it like that. Exactly. But then you throw the quintessential signature fish in there. Exactly. I should be a spokesperson. I know. I couldn't say it better myself. I'm going today. You're doing a great job. But it's true. You could use the ingredients that are inside of there as a dip, and it would be incredible. It's really fresh and tasty. There's roasted corn. There's some grilled poblano peppers and bell peppers, and this red chili mayo sauce is in there. It's delicious. Well, what I love about it is I love corn. I love corn. And that is a quintessential, like, real Mexican ingredient. That's true. Yeah. And so when you get that fresh and sweet pop from the corn mixed with that avocado and all the other stuff that you're talking about, oh, yeah. People love it. I mean, we've been serving them for the last three days. We just rolled it out in all the restaurants. So it's been a huge hit already. And I'm a lime guy. Everybody does their thing different. I got to squeeze, like, eight.
limes. I love limes. Oh, yeah. The whole citrus thing is important, especially in Baja food. You know, limes on Coronas. Yeah. Limes on your fish tacos. I mean, it just comes with the territory. Okay, now tell me about the sesame soy. Yeah, we wanted to do something fun and different, kind of a Latin-Asian fusion thing. Yeah. And so on a bed of spring mix, and I'm trying to pull that one up right here, there's a sweet sesame soy sauce and a wasabi crema. On the beer-battered fish. Oh, yeah. And with some sliced avocado. And it's just, it's simple, but it's really delicious. You know, kind of sweet. I love. But with a little heat. I love that you are. coming up with these new ideas. Yeah, we love to be inventive and innovative. You know, I think that's kind of been, here we go, that's what that one looks like. Are they a la carte so you could get one of each? That's a great question, yes. You can buy them a la carte or you can buy them in a plate. Where is the nearest one to right here in this seat? The nearest one to right here, probably Fashion Valley. Okay. We're right there in the mall. Perfect. I know plenty near us as well. Okay. You know, my other favorite thing with Rubio's is I use the little
deal of beans that comes on the side. Yeah. I'll use it as dip. Oh yeah. I'll use it as dip and I'll put the chips in there. I'm the same way, man. You do the same thing. It's exactly how you do it. I love the Chipotle salsa. Yeah, the roasted. It's so good. It's really good stuff. And, uh, you know, just how he did this and how, so you're, you were how old when this happened? When you, I was, uh, 28 when we started Rubio's. So how does a 28 year old guy graduate from the two restaurants? And then build it to what what we have now. I mean, was it just word of mouth and you were like, hey, it's working. Let's do another. Let's do exactly right. It kind of grew organically, you know, because I didn't go to school to study how to run a restaurant company, you know, just.
A very entrepreneurial thing. You know, it was a family business. My mom and my dad and my brother and sister were all involved. We had one paid employee when we started in January 25th, 1983. Wow. And it just kind of grew organically. You know, we opened for the first 10 years. People think it was like an overnight success, but it wasn't. We averaged one restaurant a year for the first 10 years. So that gave us time to... Um, kind of figure things out and kind of move slowly. And, and so once we grew to about 12 restaurants, then we decided to raise venture capital and then we professionalized the business. I started to hire professional management, you know, to help run marketing and operations. Cause that had to be, I mean, up until then you were probably doing all, yeah. Wearing all the hats. Yeah. Wearing a lot of hats. I bet you work some 18, 19-hour days in your day. Especially the first, yeah, first two years. 25-hour days. Yeah, 25-hour days. Yeah, like a Saturday night, it's one in the morning, I'm washing pots and pans, and my buddies are partying, and I'm going, wait a minute, why am I doing it? Something right here. Yeah, exactly. And do you remember around that two-year mark where something, you could just sort of feel something happening? Yes, exactly. Just kind of the switch just went on. Yeah. And, you know, just we got, like, a lot busier.
And people were driving from all over to come try Rubio's because they'd heard about it. The word of mouth just took off. It's awesome. That is the deal with them. I was just going to say I'm from the East Coast and my dad must have read about you in Money Magazine or some magazine where the first thing he said when he came out here, probably 75 times, are we going to go to Rubio's? Are we going to go to Rubio's? I want to try fish tacos. You know, that's got to be kind of cool for you as a restauranteur. that now people, when they come to San Diego, their thing, they got the zoo, they got the wild animal park, they got SeaWorld, they got Rubio's. It's all kind of, it's so San Diego. It's iconic. I mean, it's like Philly with their cheesesteaks, right? Rubio's has fish tacos. When I moved, I just moved here from Texas two years ago, and one of the first places Mike took me was Rubio's. And I was skeptical. And I am all the way in now. All the way in. Well, hey, man, thank you, Ralph, for coming in and telling us about it. Anytime, guys. And I'm going to be down with this today. Today. All right. It's really good stuff. Avocado, corn relish, fish tacos, and the sesame sword. Yeah, try one of each and see which one you like better. No problem. Yeah. Or try a few of each. Who are you talking to? Yeah, try two of each. We got it. 570-1949 is our phone number if you wanted to call us on the text.
If you make out with somebody at midnight on New Year's Eve and then the guy doesn't leave you alone, where do you go from there? How do you handle it? How do you handle it? How do you manage it? And L.O.B. says that she's... She'll use the phrasing. Yeah. I do very short text messages and I fade away. But you know what? I don't know that I should necessarily advocate this because every guy that I've done that to who I've... subsequently run into in public, it's always been like, ooh, hey. Yeah, I remember you. Yeah, we made out, didn't we? Yeah, at midnight, just three days ago, actually. No, it was three years ago, wasn't it? Well, it feels like three days ago. You never called me back. I think maybe you changed your number. No. I tried to call you that one time. Nope, didn't change it. It was like a... Girl, I think. No. Same number. I've had actually the same number for five years. I got to pick it myself. Maybe I didn't put the one. Don't have to. Don't have to put a one. I texted you. No, you didn't. Nope. No text. I don't actually have text messages. Maybe I accidentally emailed you. It's not in my plan. Not in my plan. Oh, you're the one. People who meet online get married an average of 18 months after knowing each other.
Everyone else, 42 months. 42. Let me see. So that is just 12 months in a year. Oh, wow. That would be 36 months. Oh, so three and a half years. That's what you're looking at. Yes. So the truth of the matter is, is that you're not very far off of the deal. She's a little over. I'm over. Just a little, though. Coming up on a solid four years. Which would be 48 months. Yes. This month is four years. Four years, so I will be six months over. Yes. Also 31 years old, so it's probably way over the average. Well, but it should give you... Marrying age. Wait a minute. It should give you kind of a positive note there because... Things are looking up, I guess. Well, the bottom line is that you're not off from the average that far. Can't get too far off the average, I guess, or maybe you're just a lost cause. Oh, gosh. Well... Oh, wow. Everyone is so uncomfortable. Oh, my gosh. That is so uncomfortable. You're not nearly as uncomfortable as this. Listen to this. This is a true story. Lest you think that this is not a true story, you can look it up yourself. Little girl named Poppy is seven years old and mommy just gave Poppy for Christmas. By the way, her mom is 51 years old.
As a stocking stuffer. A liposuction voucher. Now. How old again? Seven. Now, let me explain. You see, mom is surgery obsessed. She loves to get surgery. In fact, she's known as the human Barbie. She has surgical enhancement vouchers. And she knows that one day, her gorgeous daughter will probably have the need for lipo. And so, as a gift. And as you can see, child with voucher, enjoying the voucher. Okay. Join the voucher. And yeah, she says, this is what mom says. I put the voucher in her stocking. There's nothing wrong with that. She asks for surgery all the time. Oh my gosh. Because you get it done. Well, she might ask for a pony all the time too. Doesn't mean she gets it. Yeah.
She wants to look good, and lipo is one of those procedures that will always come in handy. What about a tutu? Right? Wow. That's crazy. She's seven? How about a pogo stick? Yeah. I mean, it's hideous. It's hideous. It's hideous. There is no argument otherwise. You don't give a seven-year-old liposuction vouchers. That's borderline abuse. Yeah. Yeah. There's mental instability there. I think that there is mental instability. 570-1949. What do you think of that? Is there anything wrong with it? Yeah, everything. Well, wait a minute. Because what you got to think about, just to play devil's advocate, eventually the child will not be a child, will be an adult. Right. And mom's thought process here is, I'm not giving a child a voucher. I am...
In reality, giving an adult a voucher because she won't use it until she's an adult. Why not save it till then? You're putting it in the kid's head that she's going to need surgery. She's going to be looking forward to it. And you're also putting in the kid's head, hey, there's going to be something wrong with you. You know, which I think is not good. M1 Sean from San Diego. Are you there? Yes, I'm here. Go ahead. You're on the air. I don't know why you guys are making a big deal about this. I just gave my 16-year-old daughter a breast implant. 16? Oh, wow. Maybe she wasn't done growing yet. Yeah. She was. It's competitive out there. You've got to do whatever you can to stay ahead of the curve. Is she a pornographer? Yeah. What industry? She's 16. She's a stripper. She's 16. She wants to look good. Oh, my God. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Every 16-year-old looks good. Every 16-year-old does look, you know, there's not a problem. They look great.
I had breast implants done. She liked the results from mine. She, you know, knew she wasn't going to have up top what some of the other girls do. So, you know, we stayed ahead of the curve. I didn't even know it was allowed. Parental consent. Really? Oh, yeah. It shouldn't be. I didn't know that. Oh, wow. She only did my consent. Okay, so you had a boob job. Yes. And you thought, hey. What better gift than to give my daughter the gift of boobs? I had mine done about five years ago, and she really liked the results.
You know, I've never seen my mom's breasts, to be honest with you. Well, girls are different. That's just me. Girls are different. I've never seen my dad's wiener. I know, but girls are different. There you go. Girls are different. I'd say congratulations. You know, the way your clothes fit, everything changes. It was a wonderful experience for me. Here's my... Wait, wait, wait, wait. Here's my question for you, though. How come you wouldn't just wait until she turns 18? Yeah. She really wanted them done. I wanted a lot of stuff when I was a kid. I didn't get it. You don't always get... Are you a single mom? Yes, I am a single mom. Jay just put his hands up like, there you go. What does that mean? What's that mean? Dad wouldn't let that happen. Yeah, dad wouldn't let that happen. This dad wouldn't let it happen. Her father signed off on it. Yeah, this dad would not let it happen. Did you browbeat him into signing off on it? He just doesn't want to be the bad guy now. Yeah, because now they're pitting each other. He doesn't want to think about his daughter's breasts. Of course not. 16? Well, send us a picture anyway. Oh, you freak. M1 Joe from Mission Valley. Are you there? Yes, sir. Go ahead. Man, I don't know what these women are thinking, man. These people are crazy. This is what's going wrong with this damn country. These kids are allowed to get whatever the hell they want. 14 years old, 10 years old. What's the image that they're putting in their kids' heads? I agree with you 100%. Now, I got a question. I got a question, Sean. I got a question for you.
What age would have been too young for you for her to get a boob job? Because if you're okay with her getting a boob job at 16, what age would you have been okay with her getting a boob job? 16. I think 16 was fine. Ah, okay. So I just wanted to make sure. Drive a car, get some boobs. Because 15 would be ridiculous. That would be absurd. You'd be a monster. That would be absurd to think that I would give my 15-year-old a boob job. She started asking for it at 12. Holy cow. Well, she was 11 when you got yours. Yeah. Right. Right. Right. So. Well. So she's always known that she wanted it. What about a Porsche? What about a Porsche? I mean, if you got a Porsche, you know.
I used to ask for a swimming pool all the time. All the time. Karen said, maybe one day when you get your house, you can get your swimming pool. I always wanted a Jeep when I was a kid. Never got one. Yeah. The only difference between the Jeep and this story is that one of them you have to kind of grow into. You know, you grow up. Whatever advantage I can give her, I will give her. What does that mean? Well, what market? Yeah, what do you... She wants to be a model. We've talked about Botox. That's a possibility. Oh. Botox? Wow. 16-year-olds don't have wrinkles? Yeah. What do you give a 16-year-old Botox for? She's interested in a brow lift. Holy macaroni. No, please don't. No. I wasn't even allowed to wear makeup until I was 16. Yeah. You know what? Exactly. Like, yes. No, they haven't. No. I mean, I realize with this. One phone call that life has really passed me by. Yeah, me too. It has blown past us. Yes, it's blown past us, and M1 Justin is on the line from San Diego. Are you there? Go ahead. Disgusting human being, Miss Ibot. That's not very nice to say to me. I'm working on my weight, and I've been trying to lose weight.
Maybe we get you a voucher, Mikey. Okay. All right. Well, that was straight into the point. That is counterproductive. Yeah, I'm not talking about one of you guys. Oh, you sure? We just assumed. Go ahead, what? Why did you do that? That's the most ridiculous thing ever. What are you trying to make your daughter be competitive for? Getting pregnant at 15? Yeah, what do you mean competitive, Sean? Escort. She's very into, she wants to be a model. I know, but. Models don't. Weather girls. Yeah, but models don't have big boobs. Yeah. Kate Moss, she's not exactly, you know, Anna Nicole Smith. Right. We did not go with a double D. We went with a very conservative C. Well, we're going to need to see it. Woods. She's 16. She's a 16-year-old girl. I can't say anything. I've got to be objective about it. Come on. Woods. That's one of the weirder things I've ever heard. Oh, yeah, that's a big one. As you can imagine, phone lines blowing up, and we will take them next. More from the Mikey Show coming up. I always have to look my sexiest. That's why I'm wearing these tight, size 42 pens. We're talking about Poppy Burge, 7-year-old girl whose mother, 51-year-old Sarah Burge, gave her liposuction vouchers for a stocking stuffer. Then we talked to M1 Sean from San Diego who said she got her daughter a boob job. Her daughter's 16, and she did it because she wants her to be competitive. Somebody said competitive for what? Wiener? Yeah, exactly. That got me. M1 Dawn from San Diego, are you there? Yes.
through the phone and choke this lady. You know, whatever happened to teaching, you know, especially girls, that you love yourself for who you are, what you are, what God gave you. I mean, you know, she's just teaching her to be fake through and through. I mean, there's some serious self-esteem issues in that household. Would you have been okay with it if the daughter was 18? Nope. You know what? Even at 18, you're still immature. I have a 20-year-old, and she was kind of a late bloomer. And, you know, she never, ever said, oh, I want a boob job because, I mean, it's just not something we would ever talk about in our household because, you know, it's like I told her, I said, you know, when it comes time. They'll be there, you know? Right. Yes. Well, not always. Hey. Oh, gosh. Sometimes they never show up. However, that's okay. The flat-chested bit with Lauren, because she's not flat. She's not flat-chested. You know what I mean? M1 Mark from RV. The sturdy B-cup. Yeah. Are you there? That was really uncomfortable. That was really uncomfortable. Thank you. Sturdy.
My friend Woods just said to my friend Lauren. And his friend Lauren. And his friend Lauren. A sturdy. A good sturdy. Looks sturdy. Not to be confused with flimsy. A good sturdy B. Nope. M1 Mark, are you there? Mark. Hello? Are you talking to me? Yes, I am, Mark. Did the phone ring at your house? Yeah. Oh, my. Mike, Mike, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Are you talking to me? Go ahead. Yeah, I think these people are monsters because whatever happened to letting the child's body develop properly? I know. When does a girl's body stop developing? In their 20s. 20s? Yeah, I'd say a couple years after, you know, the biz happens.
What's the biz? You know what the biz is. You know what the biz is. Aunt Flo comes to town. Right. But that doesn't happen in their 20s. It happens in their teens. Yeah, it's a couple years after that, I'd say. But some girls get it at 13. They're done at 15. I'd say more late teens than 20. In fairness, though, I didn't get my boobs until I was 23. Well, I just got my period like two weeks ago. My myriad. Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret. Glad you added that. Wow. Do you have that little pouch that the school nurse gave you? Yeah, with the belt. Yeah. You weren't wearing white, were you? Oh, God, that's creepy. You're listening to the inside of my head as my brain is torn apart like William Wallace on a rack. These are my friends. Yeah.

Dave Grohl, he doesn't like to sit still. Uh-uh. Dave's not the kind of guy that likes to sit still. Unlike you and I, Mike. Yeah, who love to sit still. Dave has decided that he's going to get together with the members of the band Rat. Yes. And he's going to do something with them. I can't wait. Steven Piercy on vocals and Warren Demartini on guitar. Oh, my God. And Dave Grohl. I can't wait. That's tremendous. If you're a hair metal fan, Rat is number one in my book of the greatest hair metal voice ever, and that's Steven Piercy's. And I'm sure it was really worked up in the studio, whatever. It was mean. Chicks loved it. I was all the way in.
Chicks really did love it. Oh, my God. They love that band. It was eighth grade for me when they broke. I was a little older. I mean, a little younger. Yeah. It was eighth grade for me. And so I was 13. And 13 and 14-year-old rock girls were real into rap. My wife, Jamie, went to a rap concert, one of her first concerts, because she was all the way in on rap. I remember a couple of girls going to a rap concert when I was 13. And I thought. Those girls were way, like, tougher than me. They were too fast for you. They were way fast. They were so fast. Probably smoked Marlboros. Yes. Yep, say it. Yeah. And Marlboros. Yes. How do you say it? Marlboro. Marlboro. Oh, isolate. Marlboro. Marlboro. How do you say it? Isolate, isolate, isolate, isolate, isolate all of those clips. Marlboro. Marlboro. That's the best one. Save them all. Save them all. How do you say it? Save them all. Marlboro. Did I say it? Marlboro. I can listen to that for the next 45 minutes. Easy. I want a record. I want a record called Marlboro. Marlboro. And it's L.O.B.'s record, and it's called Marlboro. Marlboro. Marlboro. Marlboro. Marlboro's in your mouth. It's the greatest thing I've ever heard. It's the judge on American Idol. I'm sober.
Marlboro. Marlboro. I love her. Marlboro Red. I love her. I love her. I love her. That's fantastic. I love you. I love me. Sorry. That is fantastic. Save them all. All of them. Every single stinking one of them. That was pretty good. I guess I never said it. Marlboro. Marlboro. Marlboro. Marlboro. It's my new favorite thing. Oh, it's so good. I can't say it. L-O-B, you've got to save that. That is the greatest. I get it, Jay. Yeah. See? Once you're on the spit. It's so hot. I know. You mean on the spot? Spit. Like a spit is when you're on the grill, you know. That's right. Oh, gosh. I'm deflecting. Yeah. I was trying to be helpful to you. Thank you. Sorry. All right. Was there anything that I had to get to that was, like, pressing?
No, yeah, no. Do not believe so. I don't think there was any. The high-speed chase update was at the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So tell everybody what happened. He crashed into a pole on Karma Lane, an ice skate road. You can't just make up roads. He slid. Yes, and fled by foot. And he's still at large. They had to put one of the schools on lockdown in Mira Mesa. Really? He's at Krispy Kreme right now having a coffee and a donut going. Him and the guy who dropped off at Sports Arena or in Starbucks. Right. I mean, seriously. God, that was close. It was a high-speed chase that was going on this morning, and the guys got away. And what was so crazy about it is we were making the point of, like, yeah, high-speed chase, because those always work out. Leather. Oh, I forgot to say leather. Leather. What are your underwear made out of? It's a sly way to slip into the conversation. Even Nicole on that one was like, oh, wow. He's really on one today, isn't he? Leather. Leather. Red leather, yellow leather. Hey, Mike, why don't you describe your gimp outfit? Light as a feather, stiff as a leather. Yeah, Mike. How about that one? One of my favorite bits today was...
I need to put my skin on your skin. In Jay's voice. And saying, I don't care what it is. I need my skin on your knuckle to knuckle. Knuckle to knuckle. I'll give you five cents if I can press my earlobe against your knee. Let me touch right between your toes. Oh, wow. I'm one gem from Lakeside. Are you there? I am here. What was the word of the day? Leather. That is correct. Yeah, how'd you guess? Yeah. You got a subscription to Blockbuster Movies, and you also got a $50 gift card to Dave & Buster's. Congratulations. Yeah, get some. There you go. Get some. Hang on the line. Good job, my man. Anybody got anything going on this weekend that you want to promote? Anything? Anything? You're not doing any gigs this weekend? No, sir. There you go. Home free. That is right.
At the end of the show on Friday, I tell you my story. And I feel like I haven't given my testimony in years for some reason. That's what it feels like. It feels like I haven't given my testimony in years because it's the first one since being back from vacation. So much has happened. My story is that I grew up very, very insecure. And I grew up with extraordinarily low self-esteem. And a very addictive personality. And all the wrong ideas about everything. All of my desires and wants, they were all wrong. Reason was because I was trying to fill a void. And I tell you this because there may be some of you that are listening right now that feel lonely or depressed or empty.
There may be some of you that are listening that are addicted to drugs. I was addicted to alcohol. But really, because of my personality, I'd be addicted to anything, and I have been. I've been addicted to pornography. I've been addicted to alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine. I've been addicted to everything. In 2003, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my life and change my life. That's just my story. The reason that I tell you is because I hope... That somebody that's listening can find hope in it. Because you're feeling the same way. Because you're addicted to something and no one knows. Or you're addicted to something and you've been addicted to something for a long time. And you want desperately to stop. I want you to know that there's hope. If you are addicted to something, go to mikeyshow.com. And at the top of the page, it says help. And there's a whole section there about how you can get help.
At the end of the show, I also play a song on Friday that the lyrics hopefully give you hope that you might be missing right now. If you're in a place where you feel desperate or alone, hopefully this song will give you a feeling of hope. It's a band called Third Day. The song is called Tunnel. We're going to come back here and do this all over again on Monday morning at 5.30 when Mikey shows out.
