KBZT San Diego, a Lincoln Financial Media Station. The new home of The Mikey Show, FM 94.9. That's right. Fridays, we do have people in the studio, and if you would like to get in on that action, you certainly can. All you have to do is go to MikeyShow.com, and you'll see that they got the Mikey Show backstage pass set up there, and it's very easy. You can get all hooked up with it right there. Welcome to the program. It's a Friday. M1 Nation, want to hear from you? 570-1949 is our number. If you'd like to text us, you can do that. 949mikey at gmail.com is the number. And at the beginning and end of every show, we allow open phones where you can call about anything you want to. So you can call us right now and you can talk about the topics we're going to be hitting on or whatever you want to talk about.
The big stuff out there is Tiger Woods and his press conference at 8. Plane crash yesterday in Austin. Front page of the Union Tribune today. That's something that all of us can relate to if you're driving here in San Diego County because you've seen these signs. We'll tell you about that too. And we also want to talk about what's going on in the Olympics. So we'll be hitting on all that and anything you want to talk about. The number here is 5701949. And again, the text is 949Mikey at gmail.com. And an M1 is a Mikey Show listener. And to be a Mikey Show listener, the deal is that you know the rules. To be an M1, you know the rules. And M1 Danny's actually here today. He runs M1 Sight. You want to check out M1 Sight? You can. Danny. Danny. Oh, man. It's got a great site you can check out, and you can also see us live on a video camera, which we sometimes forget when we're eating our burritos because we'll hear about it later. Wow, you guys really know how to... Feast. Feast, don't you? You really know how to put those suckers away. Well, you have to think because we eat them really quickly, and to defend us, we only have so much time that we can eat, and we want to eat while it's hot. Unless you're me.
Well, you eat while we're on the air, but usually we don't. So we try to cram it all in in the commercial break. And Mikey, we also have Jared and Sean who put the website together for us. Dude. Amazing guys. Let me get him over here. I want to talk to him. We're going to talk to him throughout. But hey, does that thing work? I don't know. I don't know where it will come up. There's an extra mic in here. We don't know if it works or not. There's a few. Oh, yeah. Whoa. Right. So, Jay, do we know where those are going to come up on the board? Yeah. That's pretty cool, man. Got extra mics and everything. That's pretty cool. There's plenty of room for Sean if he wanted to come by. Yeah. You know, with mics and stuff. Sean used to be my sound effects guy. And, yeah, it would be great if we could actually have him. He could make it in time by the time we got off the air. Why not? Why not? It would be amazing. I'll go sit in the office for a while. He can have my spot. Well, the deal is that Woods easily sometimes sounds a little jealous of Sean, but it's not that he's jealous. It's just that he hears Sean's name a lot. It comes up. It's just that he wants to be Sean. Well, people miss Sean. People miss Sean. People miss Sean. Mikey misses Sean. Mikey's got a picture on his desk that says Amigos all over it with Sean. A picture on his desk. We're friends. I have a lot of friends. I don't put their picture on my desk. Really? You don't have pictures of your friends in a Mexican Mucho Libre mask? No, I do not.
No. I thought we all did. No. But let me get Jared to come over to a microphone and Sean, too. Jared is by far and away the most incredible guy at graphic design I've ever seen in my entire life. Thank you very much. And Sean is kind of like, you know, you guys are kind of like you do business together because Sean does the web end of it, right? Right, he works for the company. Where did you learn how to do that stuff, man? A lot of boredom, honestly. Really? Yeah, way too much time on my hands. I like the honest answer. I mean, you know, both of them did MikeyShow.com. They put it together. It's one of the coolest sites that I've ever seen. And so I'm proud that I can say it's the Mikey Show website. It's really, really cool. Thank you. And you guys did an incredible job on it. And you can hire.
Jared, if you want to, you can hire the both of them. And their deal is on our website. But how do people get a hold of you and how do they do it? The easiest thing to do is just go to createyourdesignonline.com. You can go ahead and place your order right there for any design or printing. And I will contact you right after that. It's really easy. Createyourdesign.com? Yeah, it's pretty long. But createyourdesignonline.com. Oh, okay. And then could they just look for your names? Actually, all contact info goes straight to me. Perfect. Right on. Now, if anybody has seen my Facebook account, I put up a picture. It's like a poster. And the poster, it looks like a movie poster. Of Sean? It's not of Sean. No, no, no. I know you thought it might be Sean because you know that he and I are close. Very. No, the deal is it's this movie-looking poster of a microphone. You see my arms. And it was the deal that said Mikey Show is back. And Jared actually designed that thing. I didn't know that. Yeah, Jared designed it. So cool. Hey, Jay, where is that mic coming up on the board? Is it? Talking to that. Yeah, that's. Can you turn that? Can you crank it all over there? Jay's running around like a madman.
Give me a test, test, test. Test, test, test. One, two, three. There we go. That's awesome. Jay, you are MacGruber. I'm so glad we have Jay. But anyway, Jared is in here this morning and Sean is in here with him and the two of them together, man. And it's funny because Jared is he's so good at that stuff, at the graphic design thing. If he wanted to. It was a great story. He told me he could have gone to work in Hollywood doing movie posters and stuff. But it just didn't do anything for you. And like I said, it was Photoshopping faces hours on end in a little tiny black room, essentially. Didn't seem fun. No. Didn't seem like a good time. So he's like, eh, pass. Yeah. But the cool thing is.
is that you helped us, and the thing looks absolutely amazing. So thank you, guys. Thank you. Appreciate it. Good job, guys. Hang out and have a good time with us today. Okay, so we've got a lot to talk about. We've got to get to this stuff. First of all, Tiger Woods is going to be making a statement at 8 o'clock, which is turned into some of the biggest news in the world. Huge. Now, for a lot of people, I know that it's one of these deals where a lot of people are probably saying, Who cares? I think that the reason that people might say who cares is because they've heard it too much. When you hear something too much, your your reflex is to go. Who cares? But it is the biggest story in the world right now. It's been over three months. Yeah. Yeah. Since Thanksgiving. Yeah. And he has that he's actually said anything. He's released a couple of statements through publicist or whatever. Publicist, that kind of deal. But his website. Yeah. But this is the first time that he's actually going to say something about it. So that is an interesting thing. It's going to happen at 8 o'clock, and we will carry that. A couple of other things. We have Steve Poltz coming into the studio later today. Steve Poltz is a musician, local musician. He's playing this weekend, isn't he? Tonight at the Belly Up. Tonight at the Belly Up. But they are sold out. They are? They are. Well.
You're still going to get to hear a performance. How about that? They're sold out, but you still get to hear them. Exactly. Exclusive. And Steve Poults, very big guy locally in music, wrote Jewel's song, You Were Meant For Me. And Jewel, the whole story with Jewel, homeless, living out of her car here in San Diego when she was getting her start. Steve was a big part of that. That's yours and Sean's song. Get over the Sean thing. You were meant for me, and I was meant for you. You're doing a little bit of an OCD thing with the Sean right now. Am I? I don't know if you noticed that, but you're sort of like OCDing on it. My nerves are just really exposed. Is that what it is? Mm-hmm. All right. And it could be that the deal is that Woodsy is going through that. His wife is in town. She sure is. So Jamie's in town. Hi, Jamie. Came in yesterday, right? Yeah, she did. 3 15 and went to dinner last night wonderful dinner did uh some valentine's day exchange it was wonderful real quick introduction then i want to hear about that i want to hear about this valentine's exchange between you and your wife uh i'm the host of the show my name is mikey i'm 39 years old woodsy is our sports guy he's 34 lauren o'brien is uh a local comedian but
is also on The Mikey Show, and she's our assistant producer. Sienna does news for us, and she is 24 years old, getting married within a matter of days, basically. Eight days. Eight days, to be exact. And our executive producer is Jay Isbell, and he's the dude that's separated by glass. Juicebox. Juicebox. That's right. That goes McGruber. I like Juicebox. Yeah, I can tell Jay really loves Juicebox. Sounds so... Masculine. No, you dip. That's fine. Well, the thing is, the reason that we're saying that is because yesterday it came out that Jay, his wife, had given him a couple of juice boxes. When he was skateboarding. When he was skateboarding. He's 46. Carrying them in his pocket while he was skateboarding. He had a little spill. He's 46. Why do you keep pointing out? Because he's skateboarding with juice boxes. I love it. So, hey, listen, and the guy had a little bit of a fall. I had a Capri Sun yesterday. Oh, those are so good. Bring some in. There goes Jay. His juice bug spilled all over his pants. It's pretty embarrassing. Everybody thought I was bleaching to death. It's awful. I love it. Phone over here, 570-1949, or text 949mikey at gmail.com.
predictions about uh tiger coming up in just a second um last night you brought your wife woodsy to uh dinner you guys went to dinner and you exchanged valentine's gifts we did okay and so did you i know sienna was saying what did you know what did you send on valentine's day to your wife you said i'm not sending anything i'm waiting until she arrives correct and she did the same Yeah, she did the same. She did the same. So as soon as she got in, she unpacked her suitcase and I had all of her stuff waiting. Of course, I made her a mix CD. The mix CD or a special one? This one was a little more special because she she's seen that mix kind of before. Been there, done that. Been there, done that. So I added some new stuff that I was listening to. So hopefully she enjoys that. I got her a card. I got her a book that said. A Hundred Ways That I Love You. Why is that funny? You are so cheesy. It's romantic. A Hundred Ways Why I Love You. Yeah, it's awesome. It's an awesome book. She loved it. If you wrote it, maybe it'd be cute. She busts out all of these gifts. I got some new Ray-Ban sunglasses. I got some new cologne. The cologne smells good. And then there's a little glass.
There's a little glass container, and I take the top off it, and inside are 36 guitar picks. Wow. And written on every guitar pick is something sweet. Aww. Really? Yep. It was just like the jar of memories. The memory jar. It was a memory jar of memories, but it was on guitar picks, because I play guitar. It was a smorgasbord of feeling. Dude, I get teared up real good. Real awesome. What were some of the things written on a couple? Soulmate. I love you. What did she write it with? Just like a little black pen. Okay. Hot was one of them. She put hot? She put hot. Wow. It was awesome. It was awesome. That's pretty cool. Yeah, I was blown away. Blown, blown, blown away. So, thank you, dear. I love you. Did you guys slow dance afterwards? We did not. We had to go. We had reservations. We were the first ones in Pamplemousse by ourselves. That's nice. It was awesome. It's been a great night. Now.
We've been told that even though we're only hearing Steve Perry in our right ear, that the audience, as they listen driving around, does not hear it. And that it sounds normal to everybody. So if you're in your car right now and you're only hearing Steve Perry in your right ear, let me know. Or on the right side of your car. Or on the right side of your car, let me know. But if it sounds totally normal, let me know that. But that sounds so weird to me in my headphones. Yeah. But I need the audience to let them know. 570-1949, if that sounds all weird to you. I need to know. Can you guys, yeah, can you get where you guys? The speakers are working. They're real quiet, but. But they're working. So, Sienna, what can you tell us about the plane crash that happened yesterday? in austin what do we know about it well we know that the man who was in charge is 53 years old um his name was a joseph stack the third and apparently he was how old did you say 53 okay apparently he was just angry with the internal revenue service so he carried out a full-on suicide plane attack yesterday in austin he first is that what that building was yeah um like is it was that where they were located i guess it was offices there were um irs offices really and um apparently he set his house
on fire before he did that and he posted an anti-government rant online as well basically saying um the government you know railing out against the irs the government bailouts corporate america politicians the catholic church and he just keeps he just kept going on really and he said violence not only is the answer it is the only answer wow yeah so then he had a single engine plane that he flew into the austin texas building which held irs officers two bodies were found one is assumed to be the pilot and another one is assumed to be one of the office workers um it set a fire to the building i mean we all saw it on the news yesterday there was smoke everywhere but 13 at least 13 were injured too critically so they're in the hospital right now but and a death as far as we know two deaths two deaths and someone working the guy that killed himself right yeah And one office worker, which is terrible. Terrible. I guess the upside is that more people were not killed. Absolutely. It could have been way worse. It could have been way worse. And so that's a good thing. Let's see. People calling in. Could you hear the weird thing on the air? Yeah, I did. You did? Uh-huh. All right. Let me try to fix it. Let's see.
I'm really, really good at fixing things. You are phenomenal at fixing things. Oh, that sounds great. Yeah, there it is. Doesn't that sound perfect to you? Look at McGruver in there, grinning from ear to ear. He's got a big smile. He says, yep. You just fixed it? Jeremy was just sitting here. Jeremy helped me. Jeremy came over and said, hey, here's probably where it lies. But I did the twisting. Fantastic. You guys have done good. Fantastic. Okay, so if you've been driving on the freeways here in San Diego, you've been seeing the signs. They got the big signs where they can change it, the typing on there and put whatever they want. They use it for Amber Alerts and stuff like that. Yeah, drunk driving. They give you a number to call. Missing elderly. Right, right, right. They do. They put up stuff. Whenever anything's going on, they write it up on the freeway, right? Okay, so we've been seeing these lately and they're talking about... Yeah, the signs say, share the road, look twice for motorcyclists. And apparently this has just caused quite the uproar. People are not happy. Well, first of all, what does it mean? What's the message that they're trying to give us with this? Because a lot of times when people are driving in their car and they see people on a motorcycle, they want...
They don't want the motorcyclist swerving in and out of the lanes, and they just think of, you know, so it's almost like they don't let them through. And motorcyclists have been complaining, like, look, you know, we have a right. That's legal for us to do. We can go in between lanes and stuff like that. Part of the perks of having a motorcycle. Which, by the way, I had no idea. Scares me too bad when I see them. I know. It scares me for them. Yeah, absolutely. It scares me for them. Like I have a I have like a fatherly instinct that goes, don't get hurt. Careful. Careful. I know. I'm the same way. So a spokesman for the San Diego Caltrans office, which deals with these types of matters, said that they have not gotten one positive phone call about the signs that have gone up on the freeway. They've been up for like the last two weeks. Saw one last night. Yeah. They said that they just they recently got a call that was just nothing but a 20 minute rant. The guy wouldn't even let them say one word. Why are people upset about it? Because they don't like when people in motorcycles are swerving in and out of lanes that, you know, it bothers them. It's distracting. But it's legal. And the signs say we need to let them through. And that's the deal. Like, as soon as you find out that that's legal, it's kind of like.
Well, what are you going to do? Yeah, and it's also, you know, they're trying to make sure that the people who have motorcycles are safe as well. You know, cars are bigger. They can take up more room. And if people are going to be mad and not want to let the motorcyclists through, it could cause an accident. Do you have a part of your, and we, I'm very late. Very late. But is there, Lauren is giving me the sign that you're very, very late. Yes, sir. So I'll ask this question. Is there a part of your driving that you just stink at? Like, a part of. You know, like, I'm telling you, I consider myself a pretty decent driver. I cannot parallel park to save my life. That's a gift for me. You're good at that? Oh, yeah. Like, there's some sort of new Lexus that'll do it for you. I can't back up. I'm terrible at reverse. They don't do it for you? Yeah, I'm bad at backing up in the spots. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that, I'm great at that. Really? Well, you have, like, sensors and stuff on your car. It has nothing to do with it, dude. I'm telling you, bro.
You put me in a car that doesn't have that. I will back up. I can back up like nobody's business into spots. What I can't do is parallel park. I cannot parallel park. So what does a PGA commissioner think of Tiger? The dude himself, right? The PGA commissioner. What does he think of Tiger? Well, we got audio of that, and we'll tell you all about it next. And she said, I've started to listen. And she put in parentheses, gasp. I'm actually loving it. And I was like, that is great. And now she's not 100 percent sold on me yet. But she even said.
I'm going to let you know right now, I love the people you're working with. And I'm like, hey, whatever it takes, lady. I mean, I love it. And that's why I picked the people that I picked to put around me because they're pretty awesome. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. Woodsy does sports for us. Lauren's our assistant producer. Sienna does news for us. And Jay is our executive producer. And he can also basically fashion a phone out of a loaf of bread. He can. And some lemon rind. Which is really, really an amazing thing. Let's see. Some of the text messages that we're getting. 949mikey at gmail.com. Great show once again from the new crew. Good segments all morning long. 94.9 Insiders will come around and not be so judgmental. We are the coolest crowd around. I myself am. Half Mexican, half Navajo. And my beliefs have been instilled in me in harmony and getting along with others in life. I like that. That is good stuff. Our phone number here is 570-1949. Also, some cool comments about the camera. Love the camera change. Nice work. M1 Brooke. We do have a camera change. So if you go to MikeyShow.com.
Or if you watch us on M1Site.com, you can see that we have changed the camera position. Now we have a camera where you can get to see all of us, which is pretty cool. So we want you to check that out. You click on Mikey, too, to go to the camera. It's under you now. Okay, cool. Actually, there's just two cameras. There's one in my room and there's one on Mikey. So there's only two choices now. Awesome. Mikey or Jay. There you go. And both will let you one of them will let you see all of us, which is a good thing to be able to see everything that's going on in the studio. And it happens live. American Idol was beating the Olympics. OK, this was the deal. As a matter of fact, for a long time, since the very beginning of the Olympics. But things are now turning around, probably because the Olympics are. actually pretty compelling to watch right now. Well, this happened on Wednesday night. And let me just say that American Idol, for six years, nothing has beaten American Idol when it is on television. Oh, yeah. And Wednesday night, we had a guy named Sean White on the Olympics. The tomato. And Lindsey Vonn. Wednesday night, the Olympics beat American Idol in the television ratings. How about that, ladies and gentlemen? By a lot, too. Yeah, that gives you a feeling of...
Patriotism. 30.1 million tuned in to watch the Olympics and 18.4 watched Idol. They were not disappointed. Now? Biggest night for the U.S. in Olympic history. Amazing. Let me tell you something. The Olympics have been fun to watch. Yeah, for sure. They have definitely been fun to watch. Eight o'clock this morning, Pacific. Tiger Woods will be making a statement. But what's going on with all that, Woodsy? Well, there's a lot, man. I mean, there's a lot going on in sports in general right now. I'll give you, you know, what we've been kicking off the sports segment with has been our medal count. Yeah. Want to know what we got now? What do we got? We're killing it. Are we in the lead? Yeah. We have 18. The Germans have 11. And Norway has 8. And they've overtaken the French. We're running away with it. We're running away with this thing, man. I'm knocking on wood. I know. Keep knocking on wood. Keep supporting. So I can't believe I'm actually, yeah, knock on me. Yeah, Lauren just knocked on you. I knocked on Woods. Isn't that clever? Fair enough. I didn't even get it. I can't believe I'm leading off with this story, but I'm going to. What? Men's figure skating. Wow. Actually a pretty interesting little drama going on.
So there's a guy. I am not gay. I never have been gay. Nobody said you were. All he said was that he was going to tell us about figure skating, so nobody had to freak out. I don't know why. I am not gay. I never have been gay. You sound defensive. That's all I'm saying. Let me tell you about these two guys. Evgeny Plushenko has been running mouth a little bit about the future of men's figure skating. Because the U.S. guy, Evan Lysacek, has not been doing quadruple jumps in any of his programs. And he thinks, Plushenko thinks, that's the future of figure skating. Quadruple jumps? Yes. In his program. Quadruple is four? Yes. Well done. Sorry. Listen, I said yesterday, there's a couple things that always give me problems. Odd and even numbers. Yes. And the word quadruple, that's four. That's four. Yes. So Evan Lysacek taped a card to his bedroom wall that says, mind your own business. Basically teaching himself, don't worry about what everybody else says. Go out, skate your skate, skate your program. How many times have we all said that, by the way? Seriously. I can't tell you how many times a day. If I had a nickel, if I had a dollar. You'd be a rich man. And if I had a dollar for every time somebody has told me to just skate my skate. Yeah, skate your skate, dude. Show them your stuff. Okay? Well, he went out and he showed them his stuff and he won the gold.
Mr. Lysacek, the American. Really? Yeah. I saw a special on him. He's a pretty cool guy for a male figure skater. And he has like a reality show and everything. No, never mind then. His fashion line. So everyone was saying he was getting distracted from the sport. So as everybody knows, Tiger Woods will be breaking his silence today. What's your take, Mike? Does he owe us an apology? No. He doesn't? He doesn't owe me anything. Doesn't? He didn't know me or anything. What about you guys? Apologize. Apologize. What about you, LLB? I think he owes his wife an apology. Yeah. More than anything. Didn't he apologize already? I thought he did. In a statement, I just think, you know what? He's a public figure. That's part of the deal. I see what you're saying, Mike. And you shouldn't have to. But, like, we... We are the people that make him who he is. You know what I mean? Because we are all big fans of Tigers. And I think that he let a lot of people down. And now it's time for Woods on Woods. I love it. Here's the way I feel about it. I think he is a public figure. I think anytime you do something off the court, off the course, off the gridiron, you do have to answer. And it's like if something happened to one of us.
Not that we're super big celebrities like Tiger Woods. We would have to answer, and we'd have to answer to our audience. I think Tiger does have to answer to his audience. I think he made a ton of mistakes, and I think what he did was really, really shocking. The thing that bothered me about that is that he always portrayed himself to be something that I really don't think he is. Now, we've got to stop there because our perceptions may be different. The only thing I knew about Tiger Woods is that he was freakishly talented and probably the best golfer to ever play the sport. Yes. And will probably be remembered as the greatest ever. And so I didn't really know much about Tiger other than he was pretty private, didn't do a lot of interviews. And so when you say he portrayed himself as something else, what was it? Because I never got it. Kind of your clean-cut All-American. I mean, he was Wheaties. He was Gatorade. He was, you know, all the... All the wholesome goodness that is America. But the one thing that people always said about Tiger and always praised Tiger is, you know, he's always out of the limelight. He's not getting in trouble doing all that stuff. And he never, you know, he was just, oh, thank you. I just tried to keep to my family, you know, and it's just like. Well, turns out he's a kind of giant. Has he admitted to all of this or is this all still, you know, the claims of the girls out there? That's that's.
One of the problems, too, is a lot of times where there's smoke, there's fire. And that's not a good way to indict somebody. But, man, when it came, it came, and it just started rolling. One after the other, one after the other. Now, I think it all will rise to the surface, and we'll find out the truth eventually. But it was obviously enough to send him to sex camp in Mississippi, or sex rehab in Mississippi. And it's obviously been enough for him to not open his mouth for 90 days. It's been enough for him not to play golf, which is his... Entire life. Can I just let you know that, I mean, and this is allegedly, but 16 women for a fact have come out in public and said that they've had a relationship with Tiger Woods since he's been married. And a lot of them have proof. A lot of them have the text messages from Tiger and things like that. It just, it really, it was shocking. It was shocking to me that my cousin would do something like that. He's not your cousin. He's not? His name is Woods and his name is Woods. Woods. Oh, he is your cousin. He is my cousin. I just figured this out. I know. Well, here's the thing. I think what he did was terrible. He owes his wife an apology. And he probably does owe his fans an apology. Yeah. But the only thing that I guess I'm a little bit different with you guys on is the whole deal with... Okay, so his persona was that he was on the cover of a lot of ads. He was a role model. Role model. Somebody to look up to. Somebody that you would have wanted Jake to look up to.
Absolutely. Well, let's talk about that. Okay. I want to talk about that. Because the only part of Tiger Woods that I would encourage Jake to emulate is the nails mentally. Even three months ago? Mentally. Yeah. I mean, if I would have said back before all this happened, the thing that I would have been, and I'll say this about anybody, the thing that I will... What I would say about, let's take somebody like right now, like LT. Okay. Okay? What I would tell my son about LT is that when LT scores a touchdown and, you know, he either hands a ball off to the ref, doesn't make a big deal out of it. He acts like he's been there before. Right. And I would say to my son, you know, that's cool. Do that. Do that. That's a cool thing for you to do. What I wouldn't say. to my son is in every part of your life, I want you to be LaDainian Tomlinson. And the reason that I wouldn't is because I don't know if tomorrow LT is going to get popped for DUI. Right. Because then what do I say to Jake? Right. Now, this isn't the first time that a big profile dude has, you know, gone down. And so I think that that's the reason that we got to be careful not to tell our kids be that guy. Now, in certain respects.
I think that you can in the fact that Tiger Woods, when it comes to being mentally nails, he's mentally nails. We'll see. We'll see now. We will see. It's going to be. You may have a tale of two golfers, man. You may have pre and post. He may come out and you've got to think this is going to affect his concentration from now on. Because so much stuff has gone on. So much stuff has gone down. And actually, we've got the. The PGA commissioner, let's hear what he has to say about Tiger. If he says tomorrow that he's ready to come back in two weeks, we're ready to go. And if he says, I need some more time and I'll come back to you, then we'll deal with that. Please come back. I think what people are looking for from him tomorrow is a genuine interface. And that's the most important thing. Whether he gets quizzed on it, I think, is to most people not that important. Basically what he's saying there is he doesn't have a problem with Tiger. Because you know Tiger's not answering questions. This is not a press conference. This is Tiger's statement read by Tiger. No questions. No questions. Really? Really. And I heard there was only a couple of reporters that are even going to be loud in the room. No, it's like friends and associates only. It's a small room. And again, this is the hard thing about having heroes. It's the hardest part about having heroes that you look up to.
I'm a baseball fan. When the steroid thing came down, I was personally crushed. Really? And so this is a lot of golf fans out there that are really, really upset about it, man. And for good reason. That was the guy. The guy. Can we take a poll from all of us if you think his wife, Elan, will be there or not? It's a good call. I say she's not there. Okay, I'm going to write all this down. Mikey, Woods, Lauren, Sienna, and Jay. Woods says no. I say she's... I hope she's not there. Well, here's the thing. I think the only way you can take a guess at that is if you had any kind of data about what has been going on between them. And we don't know. But doesn't it? They always put on that happy face and they come and they stand there next to their man. It's the whole I bet I changed my mind. She's there. Well, it's there. I think she's gonna be there, too. It's weird because. She's been spotted a lot in the past three months with a ring on, with no ring on, the ring's back on, the ring's back off. So something, I mean, it was always on before, you know? There's something going on. I mean, for me, it's like flipping a coin because I don't know anything. What's your guess? Well, I mean, if they're still talking, then yes. Okay.
Everyone's going to say yes. I think she's going to put the happy face on. She knows where her bread's buttered. Because you just saw State of Play and you saw that little tiny thing. What is that? It's a movie. It's a movie we both saw where it's a politician. It's like John Edwards and then his wife is standing there next to him just fuming but there. But behind the scenes she's like, creep. Yeah, for sure. Lauren, yes or no? I'm going to have to be a sheep and go with the S. All of us. We're all on yes. What a poll that was. What do you guys think here in the audience? Will she be there? Yell it out. Yes. You guys all think she'll be there? It's unanimous. It's unanimous. What if she's not? I'll be stoked. But Mikey, I think you put it. You put it perfectly. I don't think people should let this be a lesson to people about idolizing, you know, false heroes. You can't. You can't. You can't. It's so hard to do. Because I think you get burned. Mikey, switching gears. The UFC has a big, big event this weekend in Australia. First time down under. Yeah, they're trying to do a lot of stuff out of the country to try to make it more global. The big fight, Antonio Rodrigo Noguera against Cain Velasquez.
And then Vandelay Silva against Michael Bisping. Should be big. That Art Vandelay relative? Yeah, that's right. Vandelay Industries. I got four shocking secrets about fast food. You're going to want to know. It's good for you. And we'll do some Lyrically Impaired, too. Go away. You're listening to The Mikey Show. The Mikey Show on FM 94.9. Wow, Cesar Gonzalez from Mama Testa Taqueria. Hey, Brian from the Nervous Records. I wanted to stop in here after hearing Tim Piles talk about Mama Testa. Tell me about your chorizo. Oh, man, let me tell you about my chorizo. We make it fresh every day in the restaurant. We spice it up like only the way Mama knows. We don't use any of that greasy stuff you get at other places. Yeah, it's not greasy. Not greasy at all. My buddy Mark tried them. What'd you think, Mark? I tried the El Pastor tacos. What's up with the pineapple? Let me tell you about the El Pastor tacos, man. We marinated for 24 hours.
Hey, Brian from the Nervous Records. What are you doing here hanging out with Mark and Caesar? Hey, Tim Piles. We're just eating some food. Really? Are you sure you're not cutting a commercial? Financial media station, the new home of The Mikey Show. This is FM 94.9. Whatever it is, I know that it's bad. Because when Woods is saying that it's going to be bad, it's going to be bad. It's bad. What's bad? Well, okay, here's the deal. Let me explain. Woodsy is one of the most, you know, dudes, dudes I know.
And let me tell you, like, just got into a hardball baseball league. All right, so. The pitcher. Smoke Marlboros, drink Budweiser. Yeah. Yeah. Where's the baseball cap? Guy likes Bud Original. Bud Original. Love it. All right. Love it. Ice cold. No Bud Light. No. Give the kid a Budweiser. Kid's favorite beer. That's what he said yesterday. Kid's favorite beer is a Budweiser. Love it. And he's a guy's guy. A couple of things that he's been very forthcoming about, though, is that Kid also likes some skin products, all right? Occasionally. Like designer clothes. Yeah. DJs. He'll go with the DJs. Designer jeans. Designer jeans. And so I don't know what it is, but off the air, Sienna was like, Oh, she got me, dude. Yeah. And Woodsy says it's bad. You want me to just as he's introducing it? Tell him the story. All right. I'm ready to get it over with. Woods and I have a very love-hate relationship. I wouldn't say hate. You would. I wouldn't. In case you haven't noticed. I'd say hate on some days, but it's overrun by love. We've worked together for three weeks. I'm just kidding. I love you. So after the show yesterday, we're giving a little team hug, and we're hugging, and we're like, oh, yeah, I do like you. And I'm smelling. What is that that I smell?
And I'm like, you smell a little bit like baby powder. And he's like, oh, yeah. And I'm like, is that your deodorant? You're like, did you just change a baby? Is that your, I'm like smelling around his armpit, literally. Is that your deodorant? And he's like, yeah, yeah, I actually, I use women's deodorant. I use secret because I have really sensitive armpits. Oh, my gosh. I'm crawling under my desk. Hey, Woodsy, it's okay. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. My face is red for him. It's strong enough for you. It's pH balance. He said, but the way he said it with a totally straight face, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I use women's secret deodorant because I have really sensitive armpits. Here's the deal. I've got really, I've got super sensitive skin. And so I was using like degree for men and I would break out. Hey, by the way. You don't have to talk like this when you tell me that. So I was breaking out under my deal. So I used some of my wife's Secret for Women. And I used it. You're doing too, Jerry? I was like, this is great. It's okay to come out. Hey, wait a minute. I know it's a sore subject, but my old sound effects guy, Sean, used to do the same thing. He used to use Secret.
Deodorant. It works. This is unacceptable. pH balance for a woman, but strong enough for a man. Only reason I don't go secret is because it smells too pretty. It smells delicious. It smells like a baby. You can go and get Uncle Tom's for men. It's toned down. It doesn't work that well. Why would you prefer it? Why would you prefer Secret? Because it worked. It worked. I used some of Jamie's, and then I was like, wow, it smells good, and it works, and I don't break out in a huge rash under my arms. I don't know whether you're gay. You're trying to tell us about the secret for... You've got a secret. It was a really strong smell. I was like, what in the world? It sounds gay. Jamie doesn't get here until this afternoon. That's what I was saying yesterday. I'm sorry. I'm a man out there. I'm sorry. Oh, there's the woman I'm sexually attracted to. It's going to be bad. I'm so sorry. That's fantastic. I know. Great sleuthing. No, we were in the other studio, and I don't think there was anyone else in there. Just me and Sienna in there by ourselves. Hugging. This comes on the heels of at the end of our show yesterday, all of a sudden I smelled some fragrant fantasticism, and I'm like, what is that?
Sienna, is that you? What is that? Oh, it's Woods. Putting on his lotion. He's like, got to pick up the old lady at the airport. That was my Nivea hand cream. He was doing this while we were on the air, putting lotion all over himself. Mr. Miyagi over here. Yeah, seriously. Wax on, wax on. How's your crack den working over there? It's good. It's getting there. He's got it under wraps today so far. No, I mean, it's not bad. The space next to Woods we call his crack den because he's just got stuff everywhere, all over the thing. But anyway. Okay, so Sienna has four shocking secrets about fast food that she's going to tell us about. Now, I'm going to see. I can't wait to see how shocking this turns out to be because I kind of feel like we. It's common sense what we know about fast food, but we'll find out. I'm nervous to even tell you. Would you like to know what's in a chicken McNugget? Yes. Please. I love them so much. Do you think they're good? Do you think they're bad? So good. I think they're a hodgepodge of parts. You're exactly right. Yeah, we knew that. I did. There are 20 different ingredients in a chicken McNugget. Dude. Yes. Lauren just got a look on her face like someone tooted right now.
Right under my nose. The meat, the quote-unquote meat, they say, contains something called autolyzed yeast extract. I mean, some of these things, like, oh, dextrose, wheat starch, phosphates. Oh, it's just like, I don't even know what all of this is. Let me tell you something. I could care less because when you dip it in that sweet and sour sauce, it tastes so, so good. That's so good. But the chicken nuggets have 20 ingredients. However, some of the compared, what? Not you, hers. She's changed, you know? I mean, she's gotten dirty. Yeah, little L.O.B. You know, she's sitting over there all blonde and cute and demure, you know? And, like, just, she can't, it used to be that Woodsy and his stuff kind of grossed her out. That's. Now she's throwing, now she's. Now she's throwing her around like crazy. I know. Okay, what else? It's contagious. Wood has started a very contagious thing. Matt, my boyfriend, says it at home, too. I said wood. You said wood. Go ahead. What else? Anyway, it's even worse. At Wendy's, their chicken nuggets have 30 different ingredients in it. And the Burger King chicken fries, 35 different ingredients. I would not eat chicken fries. That's foul. Literally.
Okay. Good job. Thanks, buddy. I say good job. Thank you, man. That was genius. What fast food place can you get a Frosty? Where do you get a Frosty? Wendy's. Wendy's. They're amazing, right? Delicious. The best there are. Ever. Well, there's 14 different ingredients in a Frosty. What? And not even. Dude, you could say pond frog. I don't care. It's delicious. Well, the worst part is it sounds like it's all chemicals. They are. It's supposed to be milk. And ice cream. And that's supposed to be it. What are these other 14? They don't go in to tell you what they are, but they're just saying, like, be careful because they mess with this stuff big time. I'm all right with it. I may be that guy, but I'm just telling you, if it tastes good, it tastes good. I can put down a 20 pack of chicken nuggets. No problem. Really? No problem. Their kids are good. They're so good. What's your favorite sauce? I like the barbecue, and then I like the spicy mustard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I do this, too, where you get a couple of different sauces. Yeah, and dip-dip. Who's the guy that only wants one sauce? No way.
You know they charge for extra sauces now? It kills me. Danny, you're a one-sauce guy. What sauce? Barbecue. Yeah, barbecue's money. Sweet and sour, the spicy mustard, even ketchup. They're all good. Yeah, anything. I can't talk about my mouth. I know. Let me ask Miss Health Nut, Lauren O'Brien, when's the last time you went and got yourself some chicken McNuggets? The last time I had one, they were probably purchased from me when I was a child. 86? Yeah. My wife would say the same thing. But let me tell you, my wife can kill a Happy Meal. Oh, mine too. Does she order Happy Meals? All-American Meal. That's what she ordered. They say that the Happy Meal is actually the correct adult portion. Really? Yes. That's it. Yeah. So not two Big Macs and a six piece of nuggets, which is what my standard meal is at McDonald's. Oh, my. Yeah. You know what I do? What? Todd's daughter, Jenna, who's eight, like we'll be in the car and she'll say she's hungry or something like.
Let's go to McDonald's. I'll just get you a Happy Meal or something like that. She's like, oh, okay. So I make sure to step up the bigger portion of the chicken nuggets because I know she'll have like one, two. You know, she's more in for the prize. Right. And so that I can eat them. So you can feast on them. Awesome. And then I don't feel bad about it. That's awesome. So I'm like, I didn't even get anything. Yeah, I just finished hers. That's genius. Just making sure I don't waste it. I know. That's genius. The Filet-O-Fish. Where can you grab a Filet-O-Fish? I've never had one. I've never had one. Yeah, they're good. They're good. I like them. Oh, they're just like the battered fish with tartar sauce and on the bun. What are you saying it like that for? It's one of the most scrumptious things I've ever put in my mouth. Well, they're changing the type of fish that they use, apparently. They use a fish called a hokey that they get in New Zealand. And now the Filet-O-Fish is so popular that the hokey are, like, becoming extinct. Oh, my gosh. I'm not even kidding you. There's a hokey run. So they have to switch it up and they're going to have a white fish like an Alaskan pollock. Yeah. Which is going to be in the Filet-O-Fish. But no one knows that until now. Wow. Yes. And the last thing is if you get salami on your sandwich at Subway. Yeah. Salami is really, no one really knows what's in it. Exactly. Amazing. Is it cow? Is it pig? No one knows. But there's a lot of chemicals added to it. Well, I'll tell you what's in it. What? Flavor. And I like it. I love salami.
Mark that. Don't save that. Mark that. Don't save that. Yes. Yes. That was great. Don't save that. I want to say thank you to Olive Oil Organic Cafe. They came in this morning. Thank you. I'm in. That's what I'm talking about. They are a natural and organic place, and you can go in there and get some delicious food. Where are you guys located? Imperial Beach. IB? Yeah. Right on. You want to give your address? Here, come up here. Oh, cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's 600 Palm Avenue, and it's IB. It's right, like, on Palm, right before you get onto Coronado. We're, like, the last shopping center to your... What hand do I write with? You're like Mikey. We all do it. It's okay. I'm like, L, which one makes the L? Listen, I'll tell you this, because, as you know, I'm not the most health-conscious person in the world, but I will say this. There are...
Two different types of people that like organic. There are the Lauren O'Brien types that like organic because it's healthy. And then there are the me type of person that like organic because it actually tastes better. Yeah, it does. Organic milk is the only way to go. People don't realize that it tastes better. It's so good. It does taste better. I'm not eating it because it's healthy. I'm eating it because it tastes better. And you just got to try it. And once you do, you go, oh, yeah, it does taste pretty good. We are going to do something now called Lyrically Impaired. Yes. Is that maybe when they were writing the lyrics, they were thinking something different than I'm hearing. Now, it always hits people differently. I'm just saying that maybe when I heard it or when you heard it, you may have thought something a little bit different. It was meant to be very serious. But for whatever reason, when we hear it, we go, hmm, I don't know about that. Is it Avril? Yes, it is. Oh, no. Now, as you know, Avril's, well, I think that Avril's overall image is, I'm a tough punk, and I'll kick your butt, and I can spit, and I can be just like a guy in a skateboard.
But she's more girly now. That was her original image, and now she's softening up a little bit. She is? No. She said publicly. She's not wearing dogs anymore? I don't think so. She said, like, when she got married and everything, she's like, I'm excited to be a girly girl. Really? Yeah. No more safety pins? I haven't seen a safety. Well, I saw her on American Idol, and she was one of the guest judges, and she looked like her old punky self. Oh, yeah. She had a hood on with devil horns. Oh. Yeah. Maybe I heard this statement like four years ago. Maybe you heard it wrong. Get off my bed. You can't change who she is. You can't change me. I'm a rebel. Just because you're a guy, Woods, doesn't mean that I can't chew too. Here, you want to pinch? Yeah, I want to pinch. I can't deny. I'm standing on the bridge. I'm about to jump. Okay, wait. You don't know if that's what... Too far? You don't know that that's what it's going to say. I'm waiting in the dark. Great. I thought that you'd be here by now. She's waiting on a ride. No, dude, she's got a night vision goggles. She's waiting in the dark. Yeah. The whole thing. Sounds like James Gump. It sounds like, yeah, I'm doing the same thing. I'm waiting in the dark. I'm waiting in the dark. I'm waiting in the dark.
Why is she saying there's no forceps on the ground? Did she say that? I think it was footsteps. Yeah, you may have misheard that. But she does sing it like this. She's a surgeon? No footsteps on the ground. Yeah. She says forceps. Listen to it. No footsteps on the ground. And I'm sorry, I have to agree with Woods. Oh, I love it. I like the sound of her voice. I do, too. I do, too. She's great. Hot. Yes, I agree. Death rock. Are we going to get in trouble for that, girls, Sienna and Lauren? What? Well, when we say, you know, if somebody says that someone's attractive and you guys deem them too young. No, she's old enough. She's old enough? She's 46 now. But when she sang this song, I think she was like...
17? No. I think so. 100%. I think so. Google it. Google it. Google it. Who said I Googled? Isn't anyone trying to freak me? Yeah, I don't know. Won't somebody come take me home? Yeah, I could do that. I'm trying to get this couch in my mind. Is it damn or damn? Damn. Oh. damp because there's raindrops falling or something like that. I always thought it was damp. She's serious about how cold it is. It's a damn cold night. Either way, I don't understand because I've always seen the thermals and the hoodie and everything. I don't know how it's that cold. She's always cold.
If my mom heard this song, she would write a letter to the music company telling her how to warm up and how she could feel warmer. And then it really does have to do with layering. I've got damn on these lyrics. It's a damn cold night. She's tough. She is tough. Now that is a little creepy. What does that mean? She doesn't care. I don't know who you are, but I'm with you. Can anybody explain that? She wants a taste. But I don't know. What does she mean? She doesn't know who it is. She met some dude. She wants to get a taste. Oh, okay. So she met him. She just doesn't know who he is. Yeah. But she's with him. Got it. She's ready. Yeah. She's 17. You're saying wants a taste is maybe the creepiest thing I've ever heard. So I'm going to put that out. Maybe the creepiest thing I've ever heard in my life. Where are you? For a face. Is anybody here? Where is she? In the dark. She's walking the streets. She's really lost. On a bridge. Reading verbatim out of the reader because she said, I'm looking for a place. Looking for a place. She's on Craigslist. Yeah, she's on Craigslist. Nobody likes to be alone. That I agree with, right? But you're lost. Isn't anyone trying to find me? Yeah. Is anybody looking for me? Doesn't anybody want this? Is that what it is? Yes!
No. I think she's in Iraq. She says she's looking for someone, but yet she wants people to find her. But she's the one that went out on her own. Yeah. I seriously want to take a piece of chalk and write on a blackboard and send the blackboard. I don't understand what you're trying to say in the song. I think I know. I think she's looking for a dude. A trick? A John. What? Can I say that? She's looking for a John. Oh, you can't say that on the radio. Are you insane? She's looking for a John. She's looking for a trick. What's the matter with you? Thanks. And then she follows it up with, can I say that on the radio? After you said it? After you said it. Favorite part. You're like me. I was going to say that. Right? You were going to say that. Damn cold nights. Beautiful. I love it. If that's James Gumm. That's right. She doesn't know who he is, but she's going in that van. She's just looking and trying to find love. She's going to wind up in the bottom of a well. Eating her breakfast out of a bucket. Using Woods' Nivea hand cream. Put the lotion on your screw. I don't know. She's pretty tough. She hit him with a skateboard.
I think the most ironic part about it is that as it's being written, her mom's like, can you please keep it down while you're writing that in there? I looked it up. She's actually older than Sienna. She is? You are kidding. What about when she sang that song? I think I'm like a year older than her. She's born in 84. She's 25. When did that song come out? I'm having a tough time figuring that part out. I could have sworn I was like a year older than her. Really? Yeah. You need the kid to help? Yeah. Avril, keep it down. I'm trying to... Your father's trying to sleep. Honey, I brought your girl cheese. Please keep it down. Leave me alone, Mom. 2007? The juice box. 2004? I don't know. So she was... 2002. That's the first one. No, it's on there. That seems... Yeah. 2002. Yeah. That's eight years ago. No way. She was 17. No way. Look at this. I'm showing you. How about that? She was 17 years old when she wrote that song. Released in 03. And with you. I love lyrically impaired. I do too. It's good stuff. So depending on what you do for a living actually has a lot to do with how you drive. So if you're a terrible driver, for instance, let me give you a for instance here. How bad of a driver are you if you're in, say, marketing or advertising? Bad. We'll see. I have the answer to that exact one.

30 minutes, Tiger Woods is doing his press conference. First time he's talked openly and publicly about what happened since it all happened, Thanksgiving. Olive oil, organic cafe, and IB is good. Real good. Oh, my gosh. Everything's fresh, and they make it all from scratch. The bread spreads everything. Everything. The bread, too? Wow. The bread is amazing. Amazing. Which one am I eating? I have the Chicago Whey. That's one of my favorite ones. That is... Oh, it's good. I have the vegetarian one. And I'll just tell you, I go to a lot of places and try to get the vegetarian option. And I'm like, ugh, really? And this is amazing. Really? It's so good. That happens to me when I get the vegetarian option, too. Yeah, me too. Usually it's because there's no cow in it. When Mike and I go for veggie sandwiches, it just never works out. Trust me, if you try this, you will not knock veggie sandwiches. All right. So good. Worst drivers in the professions. Women. No. First of all, it's not really a profession per se. Sorry. My bad. It wouldn't be a profession. But so what would make somebody a bad driver? I know. Based on what they do. I know one. What?
Because I was one. What? When you're a sales rep and you have to be an outside sales rep on the road. Yeah. And you're trying to like email, make calls, write down things. It's erratic. Sienna, is that on the list? Sales rep? Yes. Well, marketing advertising professionals are on there. It's about the same deal. And where do they rate? They are number seven on the top ten list. And this is according to insurance.com. And it's basically like, you know, whoever is on the phone doing work from their car the most. You know, moving fast. They're on a tight schedule. Any other guesses? Cops. No. You were one of them. Not a sales rep. A recruiter? No. You just said you were one of them to Mikey. Recently. Veggie sandwich? Yeah, veggie sandwich. A woman? Veggie sandwich. A woman, yeah. If the secret fits, I guess. No, coaches. Oh, yeah. Coach. Coach is number nine. Really? Uh-huh. What are they up to? I don't know. That's bad because coaches drive the players like the little kids and stuff sometimes. Yeah. I wonder what coach on what level. Maybe because they have to go to so many different places where there's different fields and different whatnot and they're looking for directions. Really? I don't know. I don't know. That's my guess. Okay. As good as any other. I don't have any idea why. A mailman?
Yeah, mailman. Really? Postal worker? Mailmans, like, have their roots, you know? They know what they're up to. But they are on the wrong side of the car. That is true. Why is that? So they can get to the mailboxes. So they can get to the mailboxes. Oh, yeah. But wait a minute. Mystery song. But wait a minute. Couldn't you do it from either side if you went down the street this way and then you came back around that way? You'd be driving like James Bond on the wrong side of the road. You'd be coming in ongoing traffic. Hey, danger. I got you. Wait a minute. I would not. I would get in that vehicle and I would be so confused. Me too. No way. Do you know how much mail I would miss? I'd be like, I'm not walking up those stairs. No way. Forget it. My dad did it. My dad did it for a while. Tough job, man. Yeah. A nurse is number 10 on the list. So we have nurse. We have coach. We have marketing, advertising professionals. We have all the top ones. You guys don't. Any guesses? No. Because it's hard. Race car driver? Race car driver. No. You guys have a guess here in the studio. Go ahead. Yell it out. New driver. New driver. New driver. Yeah, but that's not a profession. Student. But that's not a profession. Taxi driver. Student? No. Taxi driver? Number eight. Where do you go to school?
Me? Yeah, give a shout out. Calvin Christian? Sweet. Can you come up here? Okay. I go to Calvin Christian. Are you truant right now? No, I'm not. Okay, good. I finished it as I came up. Okay, good. They're going to call her out on it. Yeah. So, I don't know. Give me a hint. A barber slash stylist is number eight. Really? This is according to insurance.com. Yeah, because they're cutting hair. That's a drive. They're making appointments. Maybe they're making appointments. They're making appointments. A dog groomer. Because they're running around in the back, maybe. Construction worker. You ever seen that they have those mobile dog grooming cars? Let's just say it. Let's just guess. Whatever James Gumm did. I don't know. For a living. Psycho killer. Yeah. Business professionals. Bartender or a waiter. Always in a hurry, probably. Drunk, probably. Or late at night. Late. Yeah. A little buzzed. A government worker, number three. Yeah. Financial professionals, number two. And the number one. What is it? Attorney or a judge. Why? Because they're above the law. They have lots of calls. Because they're on all kind of calls, right? They're above the law. I'm surprised the doctor's not on there. Yeah. Nurses. You know, it's dead on, though. I was an outside sales rep for years. And you guys know how bad I am with directions. Yeah. And driving. And driving. You should have seen me in, like, trying to navigate my way around Salt Lake City or something. It was awful.
Let's do this. What? Again, Mike? Why? I have no idea. This is the second week in a row. I know it. I don't know why it does that. What does it do? It just stops? It just stops. It's our hour-long jingle. We need to hear it. I know it. I cannot figure out why it does that. That jingle takes up a whole break. I'm telling you, man. I love it, though. I just do. It's awesome. Me, too. I want my ringtone. They nailed it. I got to figure it out. In the meantime, we'll do this for you. Sienna goes out. She talks to little kids. You're not going to play. I can't. Try it one more time. One more time. So that if it does it again, we look like jackasses again. Yes, exactly. At least we get to hear the, ah. I'm going to try it one more time. Should we do our own? Come on. Don't touch anything, Mike. That's. Yeah. Sienna was going to be so irritated. Why'd she have it again? Yeah. This is Justin Timberlake who cut this for us. It is.
We're close. She's our dog on TV. Get that? Doesn't rhyme. Sienna's in the mall. There's the kids today. The kids today. Yeah. The little kids today. Sienna, what did you do? I went to the park, and I brought my dog Zipper. You may hear her a couple times throughout the bit. You got a dog named Zipper? I have a dog named Zipper, and she came to the park with me, and I just, you know, the Olympics are going on, so I asked some kids about it. All right. Okay, what are you guys' names? Issa, and I'm six years old. Garrett. And what's your name? Michael Hall. What's your name? Isabella, and I'm five and a half. She's my favorite so far. She's so cute. Oh, five and a half. Okay. Zipper. That's my dog's... That was the sound of an animal? It sounded like a sneaker spoiling on the floor. Like a basketball game. I feel like you're at a basketball game. Because someone was holding her, and she wanted me, and so she was like, like you hear it a couple times, Zipper. Now, have you watched the Olympics?
I asked my mom. You need to ask? Mom. Have I watched the Olympics? No, darling. No, I haven't. Ask your mom. Okay, well, the Olympics is something huge going on with lots of different sports in Vancouver right now. Do you know where Vancouver is? Vancouver is a place. I think it's in Africa. Actually, it's in Canada. Was that crying? No. I said, actually, it's in Canada. And he went, and then just keep going. Can we do that again? Can we save that sound effect, by the way? No, so he did. And I said, that's a good buzzer. Can you do it again? And the other kid's like, let me try. Let me try. Good job, guys. Oh, okay. Okay. Now, they have lots of different sports in the Olympics. Can you guess? Like, what do you think a couple sports are? Soccer.
Boxing. Now, this is the Winter Olympics. So what sports do you think go on in the winter? The sliding game on the ice. That is 100% correct. She knew what was that. That could be one of three or four things. That's right. The ice luge. Baseball. Ice skating. Snowball fights. Can you spell Olympic? If snowball fights. We're an Olympic sport. All the way in. We'd be gold medal winners. All four of us. I wouldn't. I wouldn't. I would. Oh, really? The reason is because I'd be the uncoordinated kid, the uncoordinated person in the Winter Olympics throwing snowballs that wouldn't get 10 feet from you. Snowballs, you could get beamed by a snowball in the face. Sure. If you're with a person that's got coordination. Like the kid, slinging heat. Yeah, if you were there with Woods. You would love to have a snowball fight with me. Oh, he's got paddles, too. Yeah, that's right. 100%. Is the word Olympics? No, but I know that it's three circles and two attached to the three. That is correct. That's how she spelt Olympics. That's exactly what it is. That's actually correct. Wow. There's a guy in the Olympics, and his name is the Flying Tomato. What do you think the Flying Tomato does? What kind of sport does he?
What? Gymnastics. He, like, goes... He flips around? Is that the buzzer again? I quit. I quit. He's out. We quit. D's out. And then they laughed and they ran away. There it is. That's awesome. That is great. I love that. Where do you get them? You just go out and start talking to kids? Like, you know, I tried them all one time and then they were always really, really shy. I think it's because Woods was really scared of him. So I've just been going to, you know, the park by my house. I don't know why they were scared of him. I was walking out, I had a cigarette in my mouth and I had the recorder. I was like, what's up, dude? Give me some audio. Give me your kid. I got nothing. They're like looking at me and then looking at Woods and they're like hiding behind their parents. Had a crustache that day. So I want to tell people what, and by the way, we are approximately 17 minutes away from Tiger Woods giving his press conference and talking about all the events that happened back on Thanksgiving the first time. He hasn't talked yet. Sienna does something for her fiancé. I know. That she says that she does for love.
And this brought up an interesting topic for us. We want you to call us about 570-1949 or 949mikey at gmail.com. And what I mean by that is, what are you willing to do for your boyfriend or your girlfriend or your wife, your husband? And you do it because you love them. Because you would never, ever do this for somebody unless you... You really loved them. Like the real dirty grooming habits and stuff. Dirty grooming habits. Yeah. Which, by the way, my wife loves to do. All women do. All women. The popping of the zen. Love to get blackheads. So much fun. Women love to get their hands on blackheads. They come out solid and you feel like you've accomplished something. What's your name, bro? Vince. Vince, come up here. Is that your girlfriend or your wife or who is that? My girlfriend. Is that your girlfriend? What's her name? What's her name? Frances. Frances, come here, Frances. Frances, are you the type that when you see them, you've got to just dive in there? I can't help myself. What? I can't help myself. It's very relaxing to me. It is. Is it relaxing? It's relaxing. It's like therapeutic. My wife said.
that it brings her a great sense of satisfaction. Accomplishment. 100%. It's accomplishment. It is. So if you really get a good one, it feels like you've done something. He never has any. Right up to here. He never, ever has any. And it's like, I'm like looking. I search on his back and stuff. He doesn't ever have any. I'm in public and I'm trying to talk to someone and she'll be like, can I? Excuse me, can I get that? I'm like, dude, I'm busy. That's a lie. That is a lie. It's a bit of hell. He lets you, right? He lets you. He lets you. No, she doesn't do it in public. Because that would be embarrassing. If she didn't do it in public. That would be embarrassing. So 570-1949-949-mikey at gmail.com. We haven't even gotten to the bad one that I do. So tell everyone what you did. Well, this is something that I've done for years, and I never really thought it was an issue until we talked about it. Until you told us, and we told you how filthy you are. Valentine's Day dinner, Todd and I went downtown La Jolla to Prospect. Right, of course. And we went to Azul, and it was just a lovely, lovely restaurant. Which just rolled his eyes. And, you know, it's an ocean view fireplace. Real nice. We get it. Real nice. And while we're there, you know, Todd gives me the look. Like, uh-oh, I got one coming.
This is so gross. I couldn't do it that time. Thank you. And so I'm like, oh, okay, okay. And he's like looking at me like, okay, it's coming now. And so I'm like. I know. So I cough to cover his gas. Unbelievable. Even if we're sitting at the table. The thing is, is they never smell. So like you can only hear them. Oh, Repulsed was 50 miles ago. No one knows because they can't smell anything. Now every time I hear someone cough in a restaurant, I'm going to be like, gross. No, I think I'm the only freak that does that. Especially if it's a long one, I have to cough for like a while. People like start bringing me water. Oh, dude. I would never, ever, ever in a million years, babe, I need you to. Camo cough. Well, that was something that I came up with myself because... You wanted to help him out? I was just, you know, like... The things we do for love. Exactly. Like, you know, I got your back. You know, just give me the heads up. Why can't he go somewhere and just crop dust somewhere? Because he would be in the bathroom the entire meal.
You can't just go crop dust around the restaurant like a normal person? Well, if it's a nice restaurant, you can't just go cruising around. Yeah, you can go crop dust at the other tables. Mikey, do you know that I covered my sandwich with paper? Because just the thought, just talking about this action makes me feel like I'm going to get a farty sandwich. Yeah. I mean, I know that it's gross, but like, I would rather cough than be embarrassed. Danny just coughed, by the way. Uh-oh. I feel so... Repulsed? Yeah. Immature. I'm honest. She's just being honest. Poor Todd, I love you. He's like, you're dead when you get home. He's like, why are you saying things like this over the air? Lauren O'Brien? Yes. Do you do anything loving that you would only do because he's your boyfriend but you would never do with a friend or a stranger or whatever? Yes, Mike, make him love. I think we already covered the one thing that I do, and it's the popping and the poking. Tweezing? Removing. Yeah, a lot of these calls that we're getting are of that. M1 Radio? Hello? Am I hitting this phone line right? Hello? Hello? Hi, you there? Oh, I'm here. Go ahead, man. Yeah, hey, I'm in the Marine Corps, and my fiance, if I go away to the field for like a week or so, I'll come back, you know, having showered.
And as I'm shaving, she likes to dig into the blackhead that will randomly appear on your back. My favorite comment that she'll always make is after she's dug in for about 30 seconds, she goes, oh, that one's not ready. That one's not ready. You say that because you don't want him to bleed and you don't want to make it worse. But you also, you know, that was a good one. As soon as he said that, I'm like, I might say those words. And when she says it, it makes my skin crawl. Yet I let her do it. I know. She'll say. That one's not ready yet. Like, I would never, if my best friend, my sister, never would I do something like that. But, like, when it's a person that you just love, you're like, yeah, whatever. We're monkeys. I know. We're monkeys. Yes. We are. You call her monkey? You know when you see the monkeys in the trees picking each other and eating the little thing? That's the only thing we don't do. We're no different. We're no different. And, like, feet. Like, how gross are people's feet? Oh, I will not touch. But, like, you rub feet. You know? Well, when you say we. Well, like, the person you love. Like, you'll rub their feet. Okay. You don't rub Rebecca's feet? I do not. I don't like feet. Todd doesn't either. I don't like feet. Feet are skeevy. Mark that. Yeah, I am. Feet skeeve me.
I love feet. You do? Yeah. Would you rub mine? Yeah. Really? For sure. You would? Yeah. Oh, woodsy. Really? Yeah, like feet. Couldn't. Couldn't. Kid's a creep, dude. Just keep on coming. Mark that. We're having a lot of markings. Just keep on coming. Kid's a creep, dude. Yeah. Kid's fingers smell like corn chips. Ew. Doritos. Popcorn. Okay, you guys have to do something for your women and your wives. I do foot massages and things like that. Would you pop one of her zits? No, my wife doesn't get zits. Wait till you see her. She's flawless. Oh, okay. It says everyone is. Jay, can you hear me? Absolutely. Can you get my wife on the phone? Yes. Absolutely. I don't think I do, which makes me feel guilty. Yeah. Instantly, I have guilt running through my veins. Weird. There's one other thing I do that's kind of gross. What? I get, like, the eye boogies and stuff. I'll be like, you got a little shtuckus here, and I'll go get it. And you'll get it? Yeah. I do that, too. You'll get eye boogies? Well, yeah, I do for, like, his daughter, too. When you love people, you just get them. It's a child. That's different. But he, I mean, who cares? Was he? Yeah. Are we monsters because we wouldn't do that to our... I don't, I mean... So you'll do the eye boogie? Yeah, I probably would. I'm good.
I'll tell you what. I think it's like the innate mom thing. You know what I'll do? Honey, you have a little schtuchus. You might want to take care of in Cleveland. But where is it? I can't find it, Mike. Where? Well, there's a mirror, honey. I know, but can you just get it? I can't find it. I actually, I can't because at some point today I'd like to eat. Well, I have a really sore neck. You know that. I've been going to the doctorate and I just, I don't feel like getting up. Can you just get it? I understand. What I'll do is work some overtime so that we could hire somebody to take that out of your eye because I don't want to touch that thing. Just put it on your time card, Mike. I don't want to touch that thing. Put the schtuckus on the time card. I can't stop wiping my eyes right now. Oh, M1 Abe is going to tell something about Sienna. that Sienna told on the other station that is fantastic. Oh, I think I know what it is. It's fantastic. M1 Abe. Yes, sir. How's it going, Mikey? Good, dude. Tell the story. Well, on the old station, I don't know if many of the new viewers or any of the new cats know this, but Sienna actually mentioned that she uses her hair as dental floss. I do. I have no problem with it.
I have no problem with it. Like, I'm against iBoogies, but I would use her hair to floss my teeth. No, you wouldn't. You guys, if you're in a bind, and you just had a poppy seed bagel, and you can't get in there to get it out, you have to do something. I'll tell you this right now. iBoogies, just by what they are, are gross. I mean, they're iBoogies. It's... iBoogies. But Sienna's hair is beautiful. You want it in your mouth? What's the problem? I wash it every day. Looks clean to me. I mean, if she had dreadlocks, I might have a problem with it. Well, you wouldn't be able to get a dread in between your teeth. Yeah, you couldn't do it. You know what I mean? I mean, we're not talking about my brother's goatee here. I'm sorry. I'm still stuck on the last vats. That was a good one. I'm just telling you. Yeah. Oh, my wife's on the phone. Okay, cool. Honey, are you there? Yeah, hon, I'm here. Oh, good. Good to talk to you. When she said, hon, she was talking to me, Woodsy. Oh, she was? Yes, she was. Well, I was your roommate for a while. All right. He was. He slept in the office on an arrow bed. Next to the fish tank. Next to the fish tank. I know. We miss you. I miss you guys, too. I'm so lonely. Honey, were you listening? Yeah. Do I do anything for love?
Like that? Yeah, I mean, the topic is, you know, things that we do for love, like things that are a little wacky, but we do it because, you know, we wouldn't do it for anybody else, but we do it because we love you. Do I do any of that? You can be honest. I don't think so. I don't think so either. Not that I can think of. No. I don't think I do. I feel guilty about it. Honey, is there something I should be doing? Do you want me to take your iBoogies out? No, I wouldn't be comfortable with that at all. We're perfect for each other. You really are. You guys are. We really are. Both sterile. We're very sterile. We're very sterile environment. Yes. I wash my hands. You wash your hands? Congratulations. Mark that. Yeah, mark it. Thank you, honey. I love you. Love you. Steve Paltz is going to be in the studio. Yeah. And Michael Franzese.

That's not a statement any other car company has the confidence to make. But for Volvo, a brand that has always been synonymous with safety and trust, it's simply what we believe. As our founder said over 80 years ago, cars are driven by people. The guiding principle behind everything we make at Volvo, therefore, is and must remain safety. This principle, to build beautifully designed cars that protect you and the ones you love, still holds true. In fact, we are so confident in the cars we put on the road today that we now have a best-in-class coverage plan to protect you from unplanned expenses. It's called the Volvo Safe and Sound Coverage Plan. It provides five years of warranty, five years of factory schedule maintenance, five years of wear and tear coverage, and five years of roadside assistance. This means next to no cost to you for the first five years of ownership, and it's complimentary with every new Volvo. Volvo, the brand you can trust, has now made the cost of owning the car as safe as the cars we build. There's more to life than a Volvo. That's why you drive one. I don't like weeds. KBCT San Diego. A Lincoln Financial Media Station. The new home of the Mikey Show. This is FM 94.9. Tiger Woods press conference on right now. To those of you who work for me, I have let you down personally and professionally. My behavior has caused considerable worry to my business partners. To everyone involved in my foundation, including my staff. board of directors, sponsors, and most importantly, the young students we reach. Our work is more important than ever. Thirteen years ago, my dad and I envisioned helping young people achieve their dreams through education. This work remains unchanged and will continue to grow. From the Learning Center students in Southern California to the Earl Wood Scholars in Washington, D.C., millions of kids have changed their lives.
And I am dedicated to making sure that continues. But still, I know I have bitterly disappointed all of you. I have made you question who I am and how I could have done the things I did. I'm embarrassed that I have put you in this position. For all that I have done, I am so sorry. I have a lot to atone for. want to discuss. Some people have speculated that Elon somehow hurt or attacked me on Thanksgiving night. It angers me that people would fabricate a story like that. Elon never hit me that night or any other night. There has never been an episode of domestic violence in our marriage, ever. Elon has shown enormous grace and poise throughout this ordeal. Elon deserves
Praise, not blame. The issue involved here was my repeated irresponsible behavior. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did is not acceptable, and I am the only person to blame. I stopped living by the core values that I was taught to believe in. I knew my actions were wrong, but I convinced myself that normal rules... didn't apply. I never thought about who I was hurting. Instead, I thought only about myself. I ran straight through the boundaries that a married couple should live by. I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled.
Thanks to money and fame, I didn't have to go far to find them. I was wrong. I was foolish. I don't get to play by different rules. The same boundaries that apply to everyone apply to me. I brought this shame on myself. I hurt my wife, my kids, my mother, my wife's family, my friends, my foundation. and kids all around the world who admired me. I've had a lot of time to think about what I've done. My failures have made me look at myself in a way I never wanted to before. It's now up to me to make amends, and that starts by never repeating the mistakes I've made. It's up to me to start living a life of integrity. I once heard, and I believe it's true.
It's not what you achieve in life that matters. It's what you overcome. Achievements on the golf course are only part of setting an example. Character and decency are what really count. Parents used to point to me as a role model for their kids. I owe all those families a special apology. I want to say to them that I am truly sorry. It's hard to admit that I need help, but I do. For 45 days from the end of December to early February, I was in inpatient therapy, receiving guidance for the issues I'm facing. I have a long way to go, but I've taken my first steps in the right direction. As I proceed, I understand people have questions.
The press wants to ask me for the details of the times I was unfaithful. I understand people want to know whether Elon and I will remain together. Please know that as far as I'm concerned, every one of these questions and answers is a matter between Elon and me. These are issues between a husband and a wife. Some people have made up things that never happened. They said I used performance-enhancing drugs. This is completely and utterly false. Some have written things about my family. Despite the damage I have done, I still believe it is right to shield my family from the public spotlight. They did not do these things. I did. I have always tried to maintain a private space for my wife and children. They have been kept separate from my sponsors, my commercial endorsements.
When my children were born, we only released photographs so that the paparazzi could not chase them. However, my behavior doesn't make it right for the media to follow my two and a half year old daughter to school and report the school's location. They staked out my wife and they pursued my mom. Whatever my wrongdoings for the sake of my family, please leave. my wife and kids alone. I recognize I have brought this on myself. And I know, above all, I am the one who needs to change. I owe to my family to become a better person. I owe to those closest to me to become a better man. That's where my focus will be. I have a lot of work to do, and I tend to dedicate myself to doing it.
Part of following this path for me is Buddhism, which my mother taught me at a young age. People probably don't realize it, but I was raised a Buddhist and I actively practiced my faith from childhood until I drifted away from it in recent years. Buddhism teaches that a craving for things outside ourselves causes an unhappy and pointless search for security. It teaches me. to stop following every impulse and to learn restraint. Obviously, I lost track of what I was taught. As I move forward, I will continue to receive help because I have learned that's how people really do change. Starting tomorrow, I will leave for more treatment and more therapy. I would like to thank my friends at Accenture and the players in the field this week.
for understanding why I'm making these remarks today. In therapy, I've learned the importance of looking at my spiritual life and keeping it in balance with my professional life. I need to regain my balance and be centered so I can save the things that are most important to me, my marriage and my children. That also means relying on others for help. I've learned to seek support from my peers in therapy, and I hope someday to return that support to others who are seeking help. I do plan to return to golf one day. I just don't know when that day will be. I don't rule out that it will be this year. When I do return, I need to make my behavior more respectful of the game.
I have received many thousands of emails, letters, and phone calls from people expressing good wishes. To everyone who has reached out to me and my family, thank you. Your encouragement means the world to Elon and me. I want to thank the PGA Tour, Commissioner Fincham, and the players for their patience and understanding while I work on my private life. I look forward to seeing my fellow players. Finally, there are many people in this room and there are many people at home who believed in me. Today, I want to ask for your help. I ask you to find room in your heart to one day believe in me again. Thank you. Who's he hugging? His mom. He's losing it, man. Yeah, he's losing it. He's hugging his mom. We can't tell either.
We don't see Elan. She says she's not there. She's not there. So we were all wrong. I was almost right. I was almost right, too. I switched my answer. Tiger's just going around hugging people in the audience. And everyone's dead quiet. That was so tense. A couple of people are crying in the audience. Audience is made up of friends, family, and a few hand-picked journalists. Associates is what it said. There won't be any questions. Probably all Team Tiger. Well, yeah, I mean, if you're going to handpick him. He just wiped tears from his face, and now he's gone. Tiger Woods breaks his silence. Wow. What's up with the blue curtain wall? I don't know. Well, I took a lot of notes, wrote a lot of stuff down. 570-1949. What do you think? What do you think of what you guys saw? I thought he did everything right.
I do, too. I think you just need to apologize profusely. And he apologized to all the families with, you know, little kids who looked up to him. He apologized profusely to his wife. And it is nothing, no one's business about their marriage but their own. I agree. And I like that he pointed that out. I agree. I think he hit on every point. It's just, like, so bizarre. That seemed like such a private moment. And it was just so bizarre to, like, watch the whole thing go down. What do you think of what he said? I think he basically hit on everything that people were probably wondering about. He did it with dignity and class, and he definitely admitted wrongdoing and told them to stay away from his wife and kids because it's endangering them, and I think it was very well done. And I thought it was, well, I'll save it. Woodsy, what did you think? Dude, I've never been a big fan of the prepared statement. I would have liked to have seen him come out, throw it down, Speak from the heart. Not something that some publicist wrote for him. He sounded a little bit robotic to me. It sounded a little bit canned. See, that's tough for me, man. See, I disagree. Yeah, me too. You disagree? It's weird. Dude, when I came on the air, I had all my stuff. I had bullet points. And the reason that I did was because there was so much. Yeah, because then people go, oh, notice he didn't talk about blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And he's like.
Just for once. Just one time I would like to see somebody come out, throw their prepared statement aside, and say, you know what? I'm here. Fire away. Fire away. That's very romantic. It's not romantic. It is. It's very human. I agree. I think it's very human, but you run a risk when you do that of endangering your family. How's that? Okay, yes, I have a question. Okay. How many women did you sleep with? Ten. You know it's not 10, bro. 10. I would tell the truth. You would tell the truth? Yeah. So you think it was 10, Woodsy? No, I mean, who knows? What if the answer is... 87. More than I can count. Yeah. What if the answer is... I'm sure it is. Well, I mean, and I'm being genuine. What if the answer is probably... I stopped counting. Over 1,000. Over 1,000 women. Over 1,000. And your wife is like... Sweet. That's really nice, sweetheart. Why don't you humiliate me more? I think he did it the right way. You know, when I listen, when I came back on the air, there was a lot of people that wanted to know about the controversy with me leaving my old station. And I wanted to make sure that I didn't leave one thing out. It's very it was very A-Rod. It was very Mark McGuire. It was very every single one that we've seen in the last six months is like, I'm sorry. I hurt my family. I hurt my fans. Be.
Speak more from the heart is what I'm saying. Maybe you don't have to answer those questions about details and specifics and things like that. That's what the questions are going to be. But that, I thought, it's just a little bit robotic. I've never been a fan, though. He always sounds like a robot. I've never been a fan. Well, you said it yourself, though, Woodsy. Before we went on the air, you go, how nervous is that? How nervous is he? Which, it's like... You know, we talk for a living. You're a great public speaker. You could do something like that for him. You could speak from the heart. You know, there's no doubt about it. But a guy when, you know, here's the thing that I think about is that I go with everything that he did. All I know is, is that at my core, me, I'm a scumbag. That's who I am. Ditto. I'm a scumbag. At my core, I'm selfish. I'm self-centered. I'm egotistical. I am. That's who I am. Just that's the way that I'm wired. You know, at the end of the show on Fridays, that's when I tell you the only way I ever changed it was with my faith. He said the same thing that he wants to change it through his faith. It's just it's one of those things, Mike. It's kind of like these guys all like to come out when they get caught.
What's the opposite of that? I don't know, man. I don't know. But you know what I mean? It's like, hey, I got caught. Aren't we dirtbags? Yeah. Aren't we dirtbags? So, like, why don't we give him a break? We're dirtbags, too. I don't really care one way or the other. I just thought the whole speech was very robotic and very not from the heart. Really? I would have been weeping. He was crying. He was crying afterwards. Maybe. I mean, we saw him wipe one tear away. How many tears would have made it roll? I would have been weeping. At that podium, weeping. About my wife. About my wife. And that's the thing. We're so wired. I mean, like, that dude is, we're wired so differently, man. Like, we would, I mean. You would be. You would have been weeping. I don't know. If it was Rebecca. Honestly, I don't know, man. I don't know. I don't know. But what he did. And if I did, if I did, how about this? Remember Jimmy Swagger? Remember when Jimmy Swagger had sex with a hooker? For sure. We remember his crying. What did you think of that? Oh, how sincere. You know what I mean? Exactly. Yeah, there's no way to do it. I've never been a Tiger Woods fan. I kind of found this whole thing pretty amusing when it came out. Yeah. Sucks for his family. Sucks for his wife and his kids. It's just brutal for his kids. That was the part that hurt so bad. That's the worst part. Like, don't you guys agree?
With the whole thing about like his family. That's tough. Like and I thought it was really cool the way he put it. He said, I know I brought all of this on myself. Like he was really like he brought it like all this stuff my family's going through. I brought it on myself. But what I thought was so cool was that he was like, even though I brought this on myself, like don't punish them. They're punished enough. Yeah. Like. And that's like, that's the part that hit home for me. Like, I think it's awful that they're following his children. It's terrible. Oh, that just breaks my heart. You know, those kids, they didn't sleep with any groupies. They didn't do anything but, you know, get born. That's all they did, man. I liked how he also pointed out, you know, my wife Elin has handled this with nothing but grace. And I think that so many people probably heard that. I mean, I know it hit me and I was like.
You know what? She has. She has been amazing. And that must be so hard to do. And, I mean, he's really lucky she handled it so well. Why can't they, if they're going to do a press release, or not a, what is that called? Press conference. Why can't they issue a written statement that says all that robotic stuff and then come out? Because of what Woodsy said? What's that? That if they did that, then people would go. He's hiding. How come he's not saying that? But then also, then if he's going to show up in public, then do the emotional, like, I'm so sorry. I already said everything factually. Whoa. Punch the mic. Just, yeah. Just not like it. Sorry. I got to calm down. You know, I get what you're saying, though. Man, that was, that is, that was on every TV station. Yeah. It's big stuff. Oh, yeah. It's OJ of 2010. Be honest with you. He said more than I thought he was going to say. I yawned halfway through. You did? I got it. So you were like, all right, I got it. It's the same bit? Yeah. It's always the same bit. I think a lot of people are going to get over the whole thing as of this morning. Did you see his mama glaring at him the whole time? Just looking, looking down, looking up, looking down. Does not make mama happy. Steve Paltz will be in the studio next. We will be talking to him. Don't go away. Local musician.

I know, man. I'm torn. There's like a civil war going on inside the country of Ron right now, and I'm not sure which side I should join. Ron? Yeah.

Steve did a show. Let's see. You're doing a show tonight. Tonight. And sold out, unfortunately, for people that want to go. Unfortunately, it's sold out. But that's because you're good. For a week now, it's been sold out. Not unfortunately for Steve. Yeah, not unfortunately for you, right? No, the phone's going crazy today. Yeah, I guess so. And you got a CD coming out.
Yeah, and I'm happy to be on your show this morning. Dude, you were here. It was riveting to come in at that moment. I feel in one, I was thinking three different things. I was thinking, number one, after he finished, I need to take a shower from too much voyeurism. Yeah. And it was just a little bit weird and eerie, but I understand it. Yeah. Number two, I was thinking, as a golfer, we've seen Tiger Woods, you know, do these miraculous comebacks, like on the 18th hole as recently as Rocco Mediate when he played him. And I thought at first, you know, he was a little stiff, but boy, he really was. Everything. He was hitting birdies at the end. He got to me. I tugged at my heartstrings. And the third thing I was thinking of was how prescient the Oliver Stone film, Natural Born Killers, was. Because back then when he made that film, he was talking about how we were going to be so media-saturated with cameras following us everywhere. And I thought, wow, he really hit it there. Because here we are all watching this. The fourth thing was there's a movie out right now called The Last Station, and it's about Leo Tolstoy, the guy who wrote War and Peace. And even back then, the press was following him because he was having marital problems in Russia, you know, in the early 1900s. So it's sort of like...
It's an innate curiosity, I think, that we all have. Yeah. I consider myself a reasonably intelligent guy, but not anymore. You used the word prescient and then went on to talk about literature I've never read. As of about 30 seconds ago. Yeah, heard of, but never read in my life. I was looking at you. Like, I was at the wild animal park. Like, wow. I was smiling and nodding. Oh, my goodness. He's awesome. He was speaking Mandarin Chinese. Seriously. For a second, I was just like, this guy's really, really smart. But I was like, um. Hang in there, my king. My goodness. That was excellent timing. Oh, dear. Well, you know, hey, listen, what a huge day in the news, and I'm always going to remember it. Steve, you came in on this day. What happened to your arm, by the way? You got a broken arm. Yeah, I've been planning this show tonight because today I'm 50. It's my birthday. Seriously? Yeah.
We have some cookies back there, not a cake, but help yourself. I went skiing and I had these shows in Rosslyn, British Columbia, which is three hours north of Spokane, right when you cross the Canadian border. And I'm a dual citizen, Canada and the States. So I decided to go down a double black diamond run the day of my show. And I crashed and I landed on the cat track, which is like hitting cement. And I heard my bones snap in my hand. I heard it and I stood up and I said, I broke my hand. Basically, I don't know how I'm going to play the show tonight. You heard it? I heard it crack. Yeah. That's the worst. It's sick. Oh. It's sickening. So they put a pink cast on me. I was going to ask. How did the pink cast come about? Well, the funny thing is, is the first guy that casted me, because I don't have health insurance, which I need to get, this reminded me, because I'm pretty healthy. Yeah. It's not my fault, by the way. I'm not in charge of doing that. I'm trying to get health care for everyone. It's not my fault that he doesn't have it. Thanks, Obama. Well, you're welcome. Well, he can just go up to Canada. That was good. Thank you. I appreciate that. So the guy put a cast on me and he said, all we have is pink. And then the Padres hand doctor, I'm friends with him. He put a new cast on me and I asked for pink for breast cancer. Nice. I like that. You can see it on the webcam. It's right up there. Steve has one of the most amazingly interesting stories because if you are just being introduced to Steve, Steve.
wrote a song for Jewel. Is that correct? We co-wrote it. You co-wrote it together, and it was one of her big hits, You Were Meant for Me. Right. You guys co-wrote it together. How did you get to know her? How did you meet her? She worked at a place called Java Joe's in Poway. Yeah, I know that place. She was a waitress there making coffee, and I was on the rug burns, came back out of sore throat, made me tea. Really? We started writing all kinds of songs. Next thing you know, it was still when the record labels and music was, you could have like platinum selling artists. And she went on to sell like 13 million records. Yeah. It was a different time. And do you remember where you physically wrote the song together? Did you write it at the place or did you write it? We went down to Mexico. We left San Diego to go surfing. And we ended up going down, you know, as you're going down Baja, California, you eventually cross over and you'd be on the Gulf of California. You'd be off to the Pacific if you were going all the way down to Cabo San Lucas. Let me get you on this mic. I'm going to get you on this mic because that mic, that's going to sound better.
Okay. So we eventually, we just kept driving and we ended up going down the coast and we ended up in a town called Bahia de San Luis Gonzaga. It's beautiful. Gonzaga Bay by any chance? Yeah, right near there. I've been there many times. Amazing. So yeah, we ended up there and there was a dirt road and it was late at night. And I went to college in Guadalajara, Mexico for a little while. I graduated from USD. spoke Spanish pretty well. And as I went down there, this guy told me of this great beach. So we went there and that was where the song was written. But there were skull and crossbones saying keep out. Well, there was an old hotel and we knocked open one of the doors because nobody was at the front desk. When we woke up in the morning, these Mexican federales came up to us. There were four of them and you could see their guns and their belts. And they said, would you guys like to go whale watching? So we went out whale watching with them, and I was scared. I didn't know what was going to happen. Jewel was in a bikini, and then they said, I said, what are you guys doing? They said, well, we're looking for drug smugglers. And I said, es peligro? Is it dangerous? And he said, si, es muy peligro. He lifts up his shirt. He's got four bullet hole wounds in his front with exit wounds come out the back from gun battles he'd been in. I mean, like, this is pre-50 Cent. I mean, this guy, like, had it going on.
Anyways, he says to us. This point in the story is not you were meant for me. No, not at all. I was meant for you. So how did he show? So he said to us, he got a call on a shortwave radio and he said, listen, we don't have time to take you guys to shore. We got to go catch some drug smugglers. Would you guys like an AK-47? Because it could get dangerous. No way. Seriously. And I said, I will take one. So I raised my hand. Wow. And Jewel said. No, I believe in angels. So the boat was going across the water. No, I believe in angels. And the boat kept going across the water. And then she saw how cool I looked holding this weapon. And she said, excuse me. Can I have one of those? No way. So they gave her one, and it looked like she was in a Quentin Tarantino film. There was nothing hotter than her holding this weapon as the boat was going across the water. In a bikini. Yeah, they caught the drug smugglers, and we're waiting. Well, this is all going down. And they grabbed one of the guys, and they were kind of hitting him a little bit, and he told them where all the weed was buried. And so there was like 56 tons of it. And so they went to a shipwrecked boat area, and they made me carry it.
Well, they talked to Jewel, and they arrested everybody, and they had us in the boat. They brought us back to shore, and we got out. I said, let's get out of here. And they said, Esteban, been aquí. And I said, what? He goes, come here. I said, what? He goes, this is the largest drug bust we've had in years. And I said, I know. I guess it is. What are you guys going to do? And he goes, we're going to have a party. That's what we're going to do. Wow. So he said, we're going to have a party. I seriously thought he was going to say, you were meant for me. That would be good. So then he said, let's take a picture. So we took pictures. Like if you Google Jewel drug bust, you'll see pictures of us with our arms around the federales. This is the craziest picture ever. Jay showed it to me this morning. It's awesome. And we're in the back. We're standing and there's like a black Suburban behind us with like all this weed shoved into the back of it. Did you take a pinch? Well, he told me to take some. So he said. I want you to take some. Oh, my goodness. Sitting in the back of the van. Yeah. Look at this. And she's holding a rifle, I think, and I'm kissing one of the kilos. You guys can all come up and look. Oh, yeah. Whoa. Oh, my God. That's a crazy picture. It really is crazy. And so he said, take some. And I said, I can't take some. I'll go to jail. And he said, ah, just take a little bit. And then we went back, and I wrote that song. You went back where? Oh, to our hotel room.
And we gave the kilo to somebody on the beach. We just were walking down the beach holding it. And they just said, you can take it. And so we gave it to this woman who was making spaghetti. I like how your hand's popping up above Jewel's shoulder and you're holding a Corona. I know. So, yeah. This one, he's kissing it. Oh, yeah. Yeah, there's a couple of them. So then we went back and we wrote the song You Were Meant For Me. Wow. Which has nothing to do with the drug bust, but that's where it was written. Didn't the lady put the weed in the spaghetti and then a big group of people showed up and she served it to them? She did, actually. That's very true. I didn't even continue on with that. That's good. You've done your research. There was a whole bunch of campers that came down for a spaghetti feed. And that night, everybody was playing Frisbee. Wow. What an awesome story. Sounds like you can revolt. Okay, so you leave this drug bus thing and you go back to the hotel. You and Jewel go back to the hotel. Right. Are you guys buddies? Are you dating? No, we were dating. You were dating. And so you go back to the hotel and did you write the music and she wrote the lyrics or you wrote the lyrics and she wrote the music or how did it go down? Well, I woke up in the morning and I started playing guitar, the opening lick, and I started singing it and she was still asleep. So that was being written. Keep doing that. So that was the lick of the guitar. And so that was when she kind of just popped her head up and said, hey, I like that song. What is that? And then.
It just got written. It's weird how songs get written in, like, 20 minutes. Do you remember approximately, like, what year is this? Probably, like, 1996, I'd say. Yeah. My goodness. I don't know, and I think a lot of people could probably relate to this, but there's just something about hearing how a song was born that, for everybody, is just such an interesting thing. But you were playing this. Yeah, I was playing that. You're playing this, and she goes, I like that. So I just looked at her, and right when that lick started happening, I was already seeing it. I was like, I hear the clock. It's 6 a.m. It feels so far from where I've been. Wow. I hear the clock. It's 6 a.m. And then we just started writing it. It's weird how songs just get written in like 20 minutes. And that's what I was going to ask you. Take me into the songwriting process. When you're writing a song like that, do you maybe come up with a lyric or two and she says, and then maybe she sings something and it kind of goes back and forth that way. Yeah, she told me she didn't want to pulserize it, meaning usually somebody's...
dies in one of my songs, and she didn't want anybody to die some horrible, gruesome death. Yeah. And I kept trying to make it about, you were meant for me, like it was this guy stalking this girl, and I was meant for you. And she said, we're not going to pulserize this. So she kept it sweet, which is cool. And then after we wrote it, I said, you can have this song. Let's write another one. And we just wrote, like, we would write all the time, like three songs a day. And I had no clue when we were leaving Mexico, we were leaving, and that song flew out of the window. It was on the back of a piece of paper. And she said, go back and get it. And I said, no, we wrote a whole bunch of other ones. Who cares? And she said, please go back and get it. And I went, all right. We got like an argument over it. I went back and picked it up. Yeah, because it had blown out the window into the sand. And she made me go back and get it. We could see it kind of going off. Which is kind of funny. It was like I was looking at a winning lottery ticket. I'm blown away. That's so romantic. As like the worst songwriter in the world, myself, that's... Like the greatest songwriting story I've ever heard. It's unbelievable. I'm just picturing that. I love it. It's crazy. Hey, can you go back and pick that up? No, I don't want to. Please. No. Why do we want to get? Because I think it might be worth it when it becomes a big gigantic hit record. We had written this other song called Food Stamp Love that would never have been a hit that I like. I'm sick of your food stamp love. And I go, why do we need that one? We have food stamp love.
And she goes, you idiot. That's awesome. That's fantastic. That's fantastic. Steve Poults was named San Diego's most influential artist of the decade at one point. He has an album called Dreamhouse that comes out today. Yeah. Today's his CD release. Happy birthday. Yeah, yeah. And it's on your birthday. It's on your birthday. Congratulations for that. I'm so embarrassed. I didn't get you anything. Oh, yeah. Well, let me tell you something, Steve. She wouldn't have got you something. Yes, I would have. Yes, I would have. Steve, where can people get the album? Lou's Records, M Theory Records, online at the, like, Amazon.com, LaLa, all the different online sources. Oh, there's all kinds. Go to my website, Pulse.com. CD Baby? Can you own CD Baby? I think it... It might be there. I'm not sure. If you go to Pulse.com, P-O-L-T-Z, there's a download link. I felt like a little kid in the 1940s on the floor with my hands up like this with the radio in front of me. He's so dreamy. Listening to the story, like captivated by the radio. What an incredible story. I could listen to cool stories like that all day. That is a really cool thing.
So, again, you're playing at Belly Up tonight, and for those of you that are among the 600 or so people that are lucky enough to have tickets, congratulations, because it's a sold-out show. When did you... That was approximately 96? Yeah, about 96. Somewhere around 96. So, I don't want to get too personal. Yeah, I do. But what happened? Oh, to the relationship? Yeah. Well, we broke up. We were on the road for a while. I was with the Rugburns and she was touring. She was on the road opening for Peter Murphy from Bauhaus. It was pretty cool to see the whole transition happen because she would come out on stage like, wow, these goths. It was the weirdest mix. But I was always gone. She was always gone. We split up. Life goes on. Did you ever think she'd be married? We're great friends. Yeah, did you think? Did you ever think she'd be married to a bull rider? Oh, my God. Her husband, Ty Murray, is so cool. He's like the strongest guy, pound for pound, that I've ever met. Now, he's not that tall, and his left wrist is bigger than his right wrist from riding the bull so long that the density of his bone through evolution of his life got thicker. Now, this guy is so strong when he tells you a story. Like, one time he was talking to me, and he said, you know, Steve,
One time we got flown out to the Kentucky Derby, and they flew out all these celebrities. And me and Jewel was there. And they gave us money to gamble. We was in this roped-off area. And you know that guy from Motley Crue? His name's like Tommy Lee. And I go, yeah, Tommy Lee. Well, this guy's sitting over there. He's got all these tattoos on. Jewel's sitting on my lap. She gets up because she forgets her purse across the room. She comes back. She goes, you see that guy over there with all the tattoos? I said, yeah. He keeps throwing ice at me. That's Tommy Lee. And Ty goes, I said, that guy right there with all the tattoos? Yeah. He goes, I reached into my Jack and Coke and I grabbed the biggest damn ice cube I could out of that Jack and Coke. And I picked it and I threw it and I hit him right between the eyes. And he came over to me and he said, I didn't mean it. I didn't mean to throw it at her. I was trying to get it in her cup. And he goes, I grabbed him right around the trachea. And he's telling me this. He's grabbing my trachea with his strong left arm. And I go. And then what'd you say? And he goes, I grabbed him around the cheek and I said, yeah, well, I meant to hit you right here. And I tapped him between the eyes and he scampered off like a little squirrel. And then he let his hand go from me and I got air back into my face. And I went, well, I can see why he scampered off. I would have never thought he would say something. He seems like just the nicest guy. He is, but you don't want to cross my head. Don't be touching my girl, man. Did you watch them on Dancing with the Stars?
I didn't. I play a show every night. I tell stories on stage. It's like a lot of spoken word and finger-picking on guitar. I play 250 dates a year from here to Australia to Canada. So I don't really watch TV. So it was fun just to watch it here with you guys. And I think it's cool that you obviously have remained friends with her. Oh, great friends. Sometimes we'll tell the story about the drug bust on stage. It's like a he said, she said with different embellishments. It's like Sonny and Cher kind of arguing. No, we're great friends. I love her. Years ago, she bailed my car out when it got towed. I had $867 of parking tickets. I had no money. She lived in her van back then. Before she moved in where I was living, she paid my car. I still owe her $867. You better get on that. Call it even, man. After that song, call it even. Yeah, I think so, too. Call it even. You know, you did go back and pick the piece of paper up that fell out the window that was sitting in the sand. Exactly. Can you play something for us? Yeah, I'll play it. Which mic is that on, Jeremy? Do I pull this up? Okay, cool.
The guy playing guitar with me, he learned my songs because I broke my hand, obviously, so I can't play guitar for a couple months. And we have a whole tour planned. So, and the guitar, this new record, Dreamhouse, is really guitar intensive. The songs that I wrote. And so, this is Sean Rolfe from the Seventh Day Buskers. Hey, how you doing, Sean? You can see him sometimes Sundays at Farmer's Market in Hillcrest playing with his band. And all over town, the Whistle Stop, the Casbah. He's amazing. And he learned my songs. So, what we're going to do. is we are going to do a song called I'm Killing Myself to Be With You. Okay. Because it's apropos for the hand being hurt. All right. And he learned this. So here goes. Well, I jump up and I fall down. Either way, I hit the ground. If I climb a tree, will I go so high? Lose my grip and I almost die. Falling through the branches. Well, I'm helpless. Nothing I can do. I'm breaking my neck. I'm a scratched up wreck. I'll let gravity pull me through. No matter what I do, I'm a killing myself to be with you. Well, I'll swim the ocean white and blue to prove to you my love is true. Far across and so deep down, probably sink, most likely drown. Fall into the bottom. Well, I'm helpless. Nothing I can do. I'm taking in water. I ain't no water. I'll let gravity pull me through.
No matter what I do, I'm a-killing myself to be with you. I'm inside and I'm cause honey baby, you're so fine. I'll blast to the center of the earth if the dynamite don't kill me first. Falling down a mine shaft. Well I'm helpless, nothing I can do. My pants are on fire, I'm full of desire. I'll let gravity pull me through. No matter what I do, I'm a-killing myself to be with you. No matter what I do, I'm a killing myself to be with you. I'm killing myself to be with you. When they were singing. That was amazing. So awesome. Biggest smile. I love it. Steve, can you tell us who it's about? The killing myself to be with you came out of a songwriting game. So a lot of songs are like amalgamations. And I'm in a songwriting game with a guy named Bob Schneider, Jason Mraz, Ben Queller, Anya Marina, Tristan Prettyman.
We're all in this songwriting game together. I actually know a lot of these people. And what we do is we come up with a song title and we have to write a song every few days. And so that was called Killing Myself and I made it in parentheses to be with you. And we have to use a phrase and it keeps us writing. And then we just all... turn them in, and email them to each other. Really? That's really cool, because a lot of times you think that you need inspiration to hit you, but we need our deadlines. Yeah, we need motivation. If we have deadlines, then all kinds of crazy stuff happen. That's really cool. Because I have a really busy mind, and I'm flying a lot. I just came back from Australia recently, and on the flight back on Delta, they had like 100 movie choices. And have you ever seen The Godfather 2? My dad's in it. Oh my God, really? Did you see it? I just watched The Godfather 2. Can I tell you who my dad is? Yes, tell me. Do you remember in the beginning of the movie where the little boy comes to America and he's in Ellis Island? Yes. The doctor that looks at him and puts the X on his chest. Oh, my God. And goes, nurse, I have to hug you. That's my dad. I have to hug you. I got to show you. I got to show you.
I've got to show you on my Facebook. You'll love this. Oh, man. I'm obsessed with that movie. Are you really? Godfather 2? I'm getting the break sign. I promise I'll break here in just a second. Oh, my God. Well, there's a scene in The Godfather 2 I kept watching on the flight back, and there's a guy named Lee Strasberg who's an acting coach, and he plays Hyman Roth. Do you remember him, Mikey? He's the Jewish gangster. That's my pop with Coppola. I recognize him. That's my dad that did the circle. I totally recognize him. Yeah, and... There he is in Ellis Island, all these pictures. There he is with the little kid. Anyway, go ahead. Okay, so Hyman Roth, who's in it, he plays the Jewish gangster. The old guy. And there's this scene where he's talking to Michael Corleone. I became obsessed with him on the flight back, and I watched it like two or three times. And I loved his phrasing because he looks at Michael Corleone, who's played by Al Pacino, and he goes, he does this whole thing where he goes, there was this kid I grew up with. He was younger than me, sort of looked up to me. We did our first work together, worked our way on the streets. Things were good. During Prohibition, we ran molasses into Canada. Made a fortune. Your father, too. As much as anyone, I loved and trusted him. Years later, he had an idea to build a city out of a desert, a stopover for G.I.s on their way to the West Coast. That kid's name was Mo Green, and the city he invented was Las Vegas. This was a great man, a man of vision and guts, and there isn't even a plaque, a signpost, or a statue of him in that town. Someone...
put a bullet through his eye. No one knows who gave the order. When I heard it, I wasn't angry. I knew Mo. He could be headstrong, talking loud, saying stupid things. So when he turned up dead, I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen. We didn't ask who gave the order because it had nothing to do with business. And the Oscar goes to... Yes. Well done. Wow. It was fantastic, dude. That's how much I love that movie. Oh, that's awesome. It's a long flight from Australia, too. Word for word. And there's going to now be a run on The Godfather 2 on Netflix because everybody right now is like, oh my gosh, I've got to see that movie. That was compelling. The best thing I've ever seen. Be right back. Bye. For listening to The Mikey Show on FM 94.9, there's more to life than a Volvo. That's not a statement any other car company has the confidence to make. Sold-out show tonight, which, by the way, Lauren used to work at the Belly Up. I did, and I'm a little bit biased, but I'd have to say it is the best venue in town to go see live music. And I'm going to have to go out on a limb and say that we might have got a better show here in the studio with this little private performance here. That was pretty cool. That was awesome. I feel very lucky. Yeah, that was very cool. And how about those stories? Such a genuine guy, too. Like, just the nicest guy. Just unbelievable. Hilarious. Way more than I would have ever expected in terms of that. That Jewel story was just unbelievable. I couldn't believe the Jewel story. In the studio with us right now, ladies and gentlemen. I know I'd go from rags to return. I'm going to play a clip. From a documentary special on A&E called The Ten Commandments of the Mafia. Michael Franzese was not just a soldier, but a capo in a notorious Colombo crime family. He spent the better part of a decade in federal prison on charges including tax fraud, racketeering, and parole violations.
I grew up in New York where there are five organized crime families. My dad was a underboss in the Colombo crime family back in the 1960s. This is an incredible story. First of all, Michael, welcome back to The Mikey Show. Thanks, Mike. It's nice to have you here. Nice to have you here. Now, we're going to walk through the whole deal with Michael. crime families in the history of the united states is that right that's correct uh and it was uh the colombo crime family and um your tell us about your dad and who your dad was dad was the uh underboss of that family back in the in the 60s and actually uh you know was reappointed as underboss in the last couple of years really yeah at 93 years old really
Oh, my goodness. OK, so dad was Sonny Franzese. Right. And how did you become involved with the family? And what I mean by that is, did you have a choice? Like if you wanted to, could you have been legit? Or when you are born into a crime family like that, is it just kind of go without saying that that's what you're going to do? Well, I had a choice. I mean, I was born into it. Obviously, that was my life from birth until today in some respects. But I had a choice. My dad actually tried to keep me out of that life. Really? Yeah. I was an athlete in school, and I was pretty good in school. He wanted me to get an education and be a doctor. He was pushing me in that way. And I was on that course, but he'd gotten some real... Real trouble back in the 60s. He was a major, major target of law enforcement. My dad was kind of like the John Gotti of his day. Right. Always in front of the press, always a major target of law enforcement. And he was indicted several times. He was indicted for murder. He was indicted for grand larceny. Went to trial on both of those cases. He beat them both. He was eventually acquitted. But then in 66, he was indicted in federal court for masterminding a nationwide string of bank robberies. Really? Convicted.
and sentenced to 50 years in prison back in 1967. 70, he went off to do that time. I was a pre-med student at Hofstra at the time, and I was very, very close to my dad. I mean, he was my idol growing up and, you know, just a great father. And I was devastated when he went in and kind of lost interest in school. Joe Colombo, who was the boss of my family, obviously close with my dad, he took me under his wing. I started getting really close with him, a lot of my dad's friends, a lot of maid guys. And they would tell me, you know, Mike, what are you doing going to school? You know, if you don't help your father get out of jail, he's going to die in there. And, you know, Mikey, my dad did a lot of bad things in his life, obviously. So did I. But that particular crime that he's done now 33 years in prison for, he was innocent. No doubt in my mind. Really? Oh, yeah. I investigated the case thoroughly. But, you know, there's a good message in here that I give to young people. If you stay in that game long enough, you're going to go down. whether it be for something you did or you didn't do. And, you know, the attitude is, hey, he got away with a lot of things, so we got him for something. It might have been a bad case. That's just the reality of life, and it's a strong message I give out to these young gangbangers that I talk to. You stay in the game. You may beat them once or twice, but you're going to go down. And so I was really influenced by that. I went to see Dad in prison. We were in the visiting room in Leavenworth and told him I wasn't going to school. If I didn't help him out, he was going to die in there.
And he was upset. You know, he didn't want me on that road. But he knew my mind was made up. I was pretty headstrong as a kid. And he basically said, son, if you're going to be on the street, I need you on the street the right way. And in his mind, the right way was to become a member of his life. And he said, go home. Somebody's going to be in touch with you. Just do what you're told. And he sent a message to the boss. And he proposed me for membership in life. That's how it started. How does one get... for lack of a better word, initiated into that life of the mob? Well, it's a serious process, Mikey. You know, I sat with the boss and Joe Colombo, by the way, in the interim, he had been shot and seriously wounded. He eventually died from the wound. So a new boss took over. It's a tough life. And I sat with Tom. His name was Tom DeBella. And he said, Mike, I got a message from your father. He proposed you for membership. Is this what you want? I said, yes. Well, here's the deal. From now on, excuse me, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you're on call to serve the family. And that means if your mother is sick and dying and you're at her bedside and we call you to service, you leave your mother and you come and serve us because from now on we're number one in your life for anything and everything. When we feel you deserve the privilege, you prove yourself worthy to become a member, we'll let you know.
And I was in kind of like a pledge period. I was 22 years old at that point. And I had to do anything and everything I was told to do to prove myself worthy. There's a lot of discipline in that life, a lot of authority, a lot of alleged respect, I say now. And, you know, Mike, I'm going to be honest with you. I don't know how to do this any other way. But, you know, the life is very violent at times. And if you're part of that life, you're part of the violence. And there's no escape. If anybody tells you differently, they're not being honest with you. Now, you've been on. all sorts of different radio shows and talked about your experience. You've appeared on the Jim Rome show. You've appeared on the Howard Stern show. You've been on various different radio shows telling your story. And I've heard your story a few times and it's still every single time I hear you tell your story. It doesn't matter how many times I've heard you tell your story. I still get like... Icicles in my belly every time you tell your story of how this happened to you and what happened in your life. We've heard these terms because we've seen these movies. But, you know, like we've seen the movie Goodfellas. Any of the stuff that we see in the movie Goodfellas, how close is that to the real thing? Goodfellas is a pretty accurate portrayal of that life. I knew all of those guys. As a matter of fact, I mentioned my name in Goodfellas as one of the guys. But pretty accurate portrayal.
You know, a lot of these movies go off kilter a little bit, but that's pretty accurate, as is Donnie Brasco, another guru that I knew pretty well. Pretty accurate, yeah. What does it mean to be a made guy? A made guy means you went through this pledge period that I just described, proved yourself worthy, and then you actually go in and you take an oath. And what is that like? What was that experience? Well, after about a year, for me, it happened to be Halloween night, 1975. No significance to Halloween night. Other than that, it was just a secure night because obviously you've got to do this covertly because law enforcement is always watching everything you do. So it just happened to be a secure night. And with six of us that night, we're going to get made. That's the expression. So we walked into a room individually. It was about midnight, very solemn ceremony, meant to be very imposing, dimly lit room. And the boss was seated at the head of like a horseshoe configuration, the underboss and the consigliere. It's another, you know, administering the family to his left and right, and all the capo regimes, the captains were alongside of them. And I walked down the aisle, stood in front of the boss, held out my hand. He took a knife, cut my finger, some blood dropped on the floor. This is a blood oath.
I cupped my hands. He took a picture of a saint, a Catholic altar card, put it in my hands and lit it aflame. It didn't hurt. It was merely symbolic. It burnt quickly. And he said to me that night, he said, tonight, Michael Francis, you are being born again into a new life, into La Cosa Nostra. And if you violate what you know about this life, betray any of your brothers, then you're going to die and burn in hell like the saint is burning in your hands. And he said, do you accept? And I said, yes, I do. That's how it started for me. Oh, wow. That is, I mean, this, I just got chills. I just got chills. Because, I mean, that is something that very few people have experienced. How did you make a name for yourself in the family? Why were you as important to the family as you were? Well, you know, when I came into that life, Mikey, I was motivated to do two things. Number one, get my dad out of prison. That was my goal. That's why I got into the life. That's why I went that route. And I worked very hard at that and eventually did get him out on parole. He did 10 years. My dad's been in and out five times in the last 33, since 1970, each time because he violated his parole for association, meeting with a guy he wasn't supposed to be. But I did get him out. And then my second motivation was to make money. My dad said, you make money in that life, it translates to power. And I wanted to please him and I wanted to be the best possible soldier that I could be. It was a goal.
And I was fortunate. I knew how to use that life to benefit me in business. I had a little head for business and went on to make, you know, the way magazines have described it, more money for the mob than anybody did since Al Capone. And that's not my version. That's where you read all the time. But honestly, it was very significant. I was pulling in at one point in time of close to $10 million a week for my operation. $10 million a week? How? You know, various things. The major deal that I got involved with was wholesale gasoline. And basically, we devised the scheme, the group that I put together. We were wholesalers responsible to collect the tax on every gallon of gasoline. And at that time, the tax was nine cents federal and approximately 25 to 30 cents state and local, depending upon where you were. So you had close to 40 cents a gallon. And I put together a cartel that ultimately we were selling about a half a billion gallons of gasoline a month and pulling down 30 cents, 35 cents a gallon. So do the math. It was pretty significant. Yeah. That was the major operation I had. I also had, you know, two big automobile dealerships. I had a big leasing company. I was heavily involved with the unions and used the unions pretty effectively to make money in contracting and other areas.
Putting it all together, we had a tremendously significant cash flow. I could ask this question to a ton of different people. And I don't know that anybody would give me an answer that would be as significant as your answer. And that is during that period of time, how did you control fear? Well, it was that is a good question. And, you know, in that life, fear is part of the life intentionally because the people on the top always want to make sure that you understand who the boss is. And in that life, Mike, you know, quite honestly, when you take that oath, you realize that the guy you've taken the oath to, the guy standing to your left and right, could be the guy that can walk you into a room, have his arm around your shoulder like everything is great, and then you don't walk out again because you might have done something that, you know, people are either worried about or you violated a policy or whatever. The consequences are pretty severe. So you learn to live with that. I mean, I always did my best to.
not violate policy, keep things straight, take care of the right people. I got very close with the boss at one point to my detriment because he was, I think, worried that maybe I was, between my dad and I, we were becoming too powerful in the family. Maybe we had ideas of doing something. And so that's always in somebody's mind. There's a lot of insecurity. Was there a time where you felt like he was worried? Well, not only there was a time, they put me on a spot because of it. I mean, I know darn well that they were and tried to send a very direct message to me. What do you mean? What do you mean? Well, again, you know, I got a million stories, Mikey, because it's a long life. But, you know, my dad was out on parole. And, you know, I was getting pretty friendly with a lot of the bosses of the other family because I'd get, you know, like Fat Tony Salerno was the boss of the Genoveses. And he would call me and say, Mike, you know, I got to put some of my guys to work. Can you help out? I said, yeah, don't worry. I'll give them a gas station. You know, give them a grand a week. Just make sure they don't rob me. You know, that's what I used to tell them. Whatever you want. So I was getting that kind of reputation. I was getting friendly with a lot of people in the other families. Well, your boss is watching.
Watching that, even though we were very close. And honestly, Mike, they were grooming me to be the boss of the underboss. One of the two. Right. That's where I was headed. But when they were ready, not when I was ready. Right. But so my dad calls me one day. He says, hey, Mike, we got to I got to see you. He was out on parole. I go see him. He said, listen, Junior, he was a boss at that time. He wants to see us tonight. I said, OK, let's go. He said, well, no, they want to do this differently. They want you to they want me to come in first and they want you to come in second. And there had been talk on the street, you know, maybe I was pulling down more money than I was turning in. You know, all that insecurity starts to come out. And I said, no, we're not doing that, Dad. We go, we go together. I said, no, nobody's going to separate us. Honestly, Mike, 20 minutes back and forth, me and him, you know, no, we can't show fear. We got to do what we're told. You know, you don't do that. And I'm saying it's not fear. It's just common sense. Why are we going to let them separate us? We're going at it. First time in my life I ever had a dispute with my dad. And finally, I threw my hands up. I said, you know, Dad, I've been listening to you all my life. And we were both captains at that point. He wasn't the underboss at that point. He was a captain. So was I. So we had equal authority, really, in the family. It doesn't matter who your relatives are. And I said, I've been listening to you all my life. I'll do it again. But I'm not comfortable with it. Anyway, long time I leave, that night I meet this other captain, Jimmy Angelina. I meet him at 11 o'clock on 18th Avenue in Brooklyn because the boss was on parole. We had to have a covert meeting. He couldn't be with us, really.
I get in the car, and we got maybe a 10-minute ride to the house that the boss was in. I'm sitting in the passenger seat. He's driving, and I got some guy sitting behind me. Wow. I'll be honest with you, Mike. I'm not comfortable. Oh, man. I'm not comfortable right now, and this was 30 years ago. But I'm not going to, you know, I'm trying not to show any fear. Jimmy and I are talking. He's talking small talk. You know, he's talking to me about the Yankees. I'm a diehard Yankee fan. Sorry, San Diego. Me too, brother. All right. We got some friends in here. But I didn't want to hear about the Yankees. Was that making you nervous that he was talking about? Absolutely. Because that's kind of the program, you know. Get somebody comfortable, you know. We get out of the car, Mike, and I'm going to be honest with you, you know. We're walking down out of the car, walking down into that basement. I remember the crickets chirping. I remember the sounds, the smells. These guys are walking behind me. I don't know if I'm going to make it to the door. And my knees are getting a little weak, you know. I'm not trying to be a hero here. I'm being honest with you. And I don't know when that door opens if that's going to be the last thing I ever see in my life. What is your heart doing? Yeah. My heart, you probably could have heard it. Yeah. I mean, it was coming through my chest. But, you know, I didn't want to show it. I don't know why. Don't ask me why I even went.
But I did. Because your dad told you? Yeah, I mean, I was so programmed into the life at that point. And obviously I walk in the door, I'm here. So it's, you know, we talked about, you know, gas and this and that. And they tried to, you know, but it was no problem for me once I got into the room and I could do my thing. And then we kissed and hugged and everybody left and it was cool. But when we left, I'll tell you how significant a meeting this was for me for later on in my life. I get in the car with Jimmy. Now, I know Jimmy all my life. We're both captains, right? I know the kids since we were kids. And he says, you know, Mike, you held yourself pretty good in there tonight. It could have been serious. And I turned to him. I said, you know, I'm mad at you. I said, if I was really in trouble. I said, you made me, like, all comfortable. Everything's all right. Would you have told me? And he turned around. He looked at me. He says, well, if it were the other way around, would you have told me? And I looked at him, and I said, no. He said, well, you know, that's the life we chose, brother. Wow. But then he said something, Mike, that got me even more. I'm getting out of the car and he grabs my arm and he says, I'm going to tell you something. You're not going to want to hear this, but it's the truth. And I said, what's that? He said, your father, he didn't help you one bit in there tonight because my father had been in first. And that hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks. Because when I left, I started to think and I said, what could he have done knowing my father as well as I do? He didn't go out of his way to hurt me.
But he said, you know, he took the high road. He said, hey, I'm on parole. I don't do anything. My son handles it all. If something's missing, you got to talk to him. You know, I don't know. Rather than being real strong and standing up for me, because my dad had juice in the family. And he could say, hey, don't even think about anything like that. He didn't. And that, in turn, made it a little rougher for me in the room and so on and so forth. But, you know, I'm not upset with my dad. I understand he's such a product. I mean, I don't agree with what he did. I did approach him on issues later. Of course, he denied it. And I said, Dad, I'm sorry, but I believe it. But no hard feelings. I love you. It don't matter. I understand. But this had a real impact on me later on. Because when things changed in my life, I always remember this time. And I said, man, if this life can separate father and son, the bond that we had, then there's something really wrong here. And I just filed it away. We're talking to Michael Franzese. And if you don't know, first of all, he's written a couple of really good books. And he's got a website, Michael Franzese.com. If you want to know the spelling, it's F-R-A-N-Z-E-S-E.com. Michael Franzese is in the studio with us right now and want to let you know that Michael is telling his story and delivering a very powerful message. at New Life Church in El Cajon, tomorrow at 6 p.m., Sunday at 9.30 a.m., Sunday at 11 a.m. If you want more information about it, you can visit the church website at www.newlifesd.com. And if you're just tuning in, Michael was a part of the Colombo crime family. And what was your official title?
when you were working in that capacity? Well, you come in as a soldier once you take the oath. And then in 1980, after enjoying some success in that life, the boss at that time appointed me a capo regime, is the term, means captain. And I operated as a capo regime in that family until about 93 when I consider myself, you know, removed. Mm-hmm. Now... Let's talk about, because right before we went to break, I said that you knew John Gotti. And were you guys both in the same position, but just in separate families? Well, we were for a time. John and I came up at around the same time. And he's 10 years older than me, and he was part of the Gambino family. But, you know, you all kind of get together on the street. And we were appointed captains around the same time. I think I was just a little bit before him. a couple of human, and then he became a couple of human, and obviously went on further. What kind of occasion would it be where you guys would get together and have to talk? Well, first of all, that life, Mikey, weekends consist of weddings and funerals. You're either going to a wedding or you're going to a funeral. Half the time you don't know who died or who's getting married, but you've got to go. That's just the deal. There's times I went to three or four weddings and funerals a weekend, so we always meet at those type of deals.
Met many times in Italy just socially, you know, have a bite to eat and we get together. And then John was a pretty active guy and so was I. And in that life, especially in New York, when you're in business, it's inevitable that you're going to buck heads with a guy in another family or in your own family. And John and I did that on a couple of occasions, business deals. So we had a sit down, which technically is the term that we use, a sit down to resolve a business dispute. Did you arrange it yourself or did somebody else have to arrange it? Well, you know, we we sent messages back and forth. You know, the guys with John as well set up an appointment where I got to sit down with John. We got to straighten this out. And I'd send a message to him or he'd send a message to me. We'd set up a place and we'd have a sit down. And that's how it went. Now, on a on a meeting like that, was there any was there any. Any reason to be nervous at a meeting like that? Or were those the type of meetings where you knew they were kind of going to go OK, but you just maybe you were nervous just because of what you had to talk about? No, you don't get nervous at those meetings. You know that that's a meeting to resolve something. What you do, the sit down is is part of that life is as much a part of that life as a bowl of pasta. I mean, you're doing it all the time, especially if you're active.
So what you really have to understand is to learn the art of the sit-down because it's very technical. And, you know, you could be 100% right in your argument and still lose for technicalities. Right, right, right. It's almost like being in court. And, you know, guys are very shrewd, so you've got to know how to handle yourself in there. But you either resolve it at that moment or it elevates to where we can't resolve it and then we've got to bring the boss in. So how would a meeting with a John Gotti go? What would that look like? Sit down and, you know, wherever we decide for that place to be, to sit down and, okay, John, you called me. What's your beef? And he'll go out and tell me what his issue is, and then I'll respond. And we'll go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. Is there small talk before the what's so, yeah? Yeah, because we're friends. But once, you know, we could have our arm around us and be friends. And then as soon as that sit-down starts, all bets are off. You would think it was, you know, we were in a war with Iraq. But, you know, with John, it was very, very tough. Because John had a tremendous ego. And when you went into the sit down with him, you had to realize that there's no way he's going to walk out of there thinking he's a loser. So you had to figure out how to get what you wanted and make him think that he won. Otherwise, yeah. Otherwise, you're not going to you'll be there. I'd still be there if he wasn't. You never you're never walking away. So you go in with that going in and understand that. And that's that's how I dealt with him. Was he.
Now, this is a strange question, but was he a reasonable person? Not at all. No, not at all. He wasn't reasonable. Not at all. It was like I said, he was going to win. He had to come out of there winner no matter what. So when you have that attitude, you can't be reasonable. Right. Because you already won before you before anybody decided if you were right or wrong. Now. Do you remember any specific things that you went in there that you can even tell? Maybe you can't tell us, but were there any specific things that you remember that he had a problem with you about that needed to be resolved? You mean about the issue itself? Yeah. Oh, I remember it like it was yesterday. That's fascinating. Give us an example. Well, the issue, it was very simple. We had this huge swap meet. You know, it doesn't sound like it's a huge swap meet in Brooklyn that generated, you know, hundreds of thousands of dollars a weekend. And the owner of the swap meet was an accountant who had run to me because people were trying to pressure him. So he became my partner. I gave him protection and so on and so forth. Well, he had a partner that was a drug addict, basically. And the kid was selling drugs out of the flea market. So when I found that out, I chased him to get out. You're gone. And he left.
Well, three weeks later, all of a sudden, he became John Gotti's nephew because John realized that there was money in that market. He ran to John. So John contacted me and said, Mike, you know, that guy you threw out, he was with me. And I said, well, here we go. Let's sit down and talk about it. So basically, you know, I knew that, you know, I said, John, how could he be with you? The kid's a drug addict. We're not allowed to be with drugs. Well, he was cleaned up. I said, no, he wasn't cleaned up. He was selling drugs out of the market. Well, I'm going to make sure he doesn't do it anymore. And this was the thing, back and forth, back and forth. Now, he was dead wrong going in because we're not allowed to mess with drugs. Anything with drugs, we couldn't get involved in. We got killed if we did. So back and forth, back and forth. And we had about three sit-downs over this. What was in it for him to be involved with a drug addict? Well, it was his involvement in the market. He didn't care about this kid at all. But he said, you know, his bottom line is, don't worry, Mike, I'm going to throw the kid out and I'm going to put my own thing in there because he belongs with me. I'll put my own guy in there. Right. You know? And so, I mean, this thing just went on and on and on and on. Three sit-downs you had. Three sit-downs. And the danger with drugs, is that because there's too much heat? Right up in the mic. Is that because there's too much heat around them that you could get? I don't know what's going on with that microphone. Is it? Yeah. There's too much cop involvement with it? You know, I mean, you saw that in The Godfather. You know, stay away from drugs. But honestly, it was distasteful to a lot of us in there. You know, Mike.
We all had kids. We, you know, some mob guys have, we have some decency about us and we're very, very strong on family. Yeah. And to the old timers especially, and that's not the same today, but to the old timers, to me especially, we hated anything to do with drugs. We felt we could earn money in different ways and we didn't need to bring that kind of business into our lives. And, you know, we had political connections and, you know, everybody runs away from drugs. So we didn't want to get involved in any of it. Is it still that way or is it? Unfortunately, the younger guys in there today, they don't have that same morality, I would say. Now, are they the major drug dealers in this country? Not by a long shot. But do they get involved? Yeah. Okay. So, something, Woodsy, did you have a question? No, I mean, I just wanted to know, in your opinion, how active is the mafia these days? It's very active. Very active. Oh, yeah. When I left the life, we had 115. made guys in the Colombo family, guys that took the oath. Now, remember, every one of these guys have multiple associates around them. Today, there's 115 guys. The numbers are the same. Business has changed. Government has done a good job, so on and so forth, weakened the union control. But it's still alive, and I don't think we'll see its demise in my lifetime. Okay, real quick.
Got to take a time out. Come back. We'll do some more with Michael Franzese, and we'll talk to him a little bit, and I'll tell you where he's going to be speaking this weekend. He'll be at New Life Church in El Cajon Saturday at 6 p.m. Sunday, 9.30 a.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. And you can always go to the website, newlifesd.com. The government calls him one of the biggest money earners in the history of organized crime. Handsome and high living young man. As rich as royalty. And royal he is. A prince of the mafia. They're good books. You want to give out the names of the books and how people can get them?
Blood Covenant is my autobiography. I'll Make You an Offer You Can't Refuse is a recent book I wrote. It's more of a business book. I used some of the insights I had on the street to help you in business today. And the latest book, Good, Bad, Forgiven, kind of my insight on life today and really what it's all about. And you can get them online. You can get them on Amazon. You can get them on my website, michaelfrancis.com. They're pretty much available just about everywhere. And I want to let people know that Michael is going to be speaking this weekend at New Life Church in El Cajon. Saturday at 6 p.m., Sunday, 9.30 a.m., Sunday at 11 a.m. Yeah, Mike, and I'm real excited about that. I've spoken in San Diego a number of times. People are always great down here. We have a lot of interaction afterwards. And I tell people, hey, since the Sopranos is off the air, you want to come and hear what the real mob is all about? Come on down. We'll have a great time. You hear a little bit more of this. And like I said, people always been great. So I'm looking forward to it Saturday night and Sunday. Just to kind of wrap up my interview with you. How did you walk away from this life? You know, Mike, it was a, you know, bottom line, I met a young girl who is now my wife of 25 years. We'll celebrate this year. And she was a young girl of faith. You know, she was strong in her beliefs. She was a Christian.
You know, it wasn't so much that. It was the fact that I fell very much in love with her, respected her beliefs, and realized that my life was a direct contradiction into everything that she believed. And so if I was going to be with her, I had to make some dramatic changes. And, you know, I refer back to that. night with my father and that whole night it was something in my mind and i started to realize this was a bad life this was a life with no longevity i was going to either end up in prison for the rest of my life or dead like so many of my former associates because i became a major target i went to trial five times i mean they were on me every day and uh by the grace of god i beat every case i beat a case that rudy giuliani indicted me on in 84 and he told me in the courtroom he said if i convict you you're gonna get 100 years you're getting a double what your father got And I beat that case. Some of my co-defendants got convicted. I was a lead defendant. They got 30 years. I mean, they would have given me 100. So I meet this girl, and I decide I'm going to try to make a break. You know, and mentally, emotionally, I had lived with fear. I understood what it was. I knew I was going to take a tremendous risk. They weren't going to let me walk away. But I figured, hey, I've got to take a shot.
And it's amazing how the love for this girl became stronger for me than the bond with my dad, the bond with that life. I don't know what was going on in my head, but aside from the fact that she was beautiful, but there had to be more to it than that, right? But long story short, we married. I took a plea on another case they were coming at me with. I ended up negotiating for a 10-year prison sentence. I gave him a $15 million restitution. I gave out my plane, my helicopter, the whole bit, and every asset that I had, I gave it to him. Married Camille, moved out to the West Coast. Unfortunately, at some point in time, and obviously this is a long story that I'll be talking about this weekend in El Cajon at the church, it became very public when I walked away. I didn't want it to, but it did. I had to make a choice, and when I did, that choice became public, and all hell broke loose in my life. I mean, contract on my life, dad disowns me. I'm in prison. They locked me down because my life was in danger. FBI, seen it as an opportunity, jumped all over me, tried to make me cooperate, wanted to put me in the program, told me you're a dead man. Anyhow, you may as well cooperate with us. This went into an eight, nine-year stretch of my life that was just horrible. I mean, the worst. Dodging bullets, trying to make a living, in and out of prison, trying to hold on to my family.
But I'm here, Mike. So all I can say is there was a happy ending to this story and that everybody I knew in that life, I think it's easy to say I outlasted them. They're either dead or in prison for the rest of their lives. My dad, somehow, someway, the relationship became repaired. It came full circle and we're kind of closer than ever now. And, you know, I was floored yesterday just to show you how blessed I am to be away from this life. Yesterday, big news in New York. My dad is under indictment again at 93. He's on parole and under indictment on another major case, Colombo case. My brother, my younger brother, who's had a significant drug problem, is a major witness testifying in the case against my dad and others. My dad's got a problem because he unknowingly brought an informant around that he was talking to and brought it around to other people. So now the danger is on the street again. I was warned yesterday to be careful that people are talking about me again. This stuff never goes away. Never, never goes away. You carry the baggage of that life forever. I realize that. But on the other hand, I feel so fortunate to be on the outside and for the most part looking in and understand that, you know, my life has been preserved. I mean, I'm free.
I've got a family that I love. I'm able to share my story and encourage people. You know, I believe a lot has to do with my faith. God has totally protected me throughout all of this. And there's no other way to explain this. And when I have an opportunity, I talk about it as much as I can. And I'm here. So, you know, I've been very, very blessed, very fortunate. So there is a happy ending to all of this, but it's still going on. Yeah. Incredible story. And if you want to know more about Michael. He's speaking this weekend, and I've had him on the air before. Stories are just chilling, unbelievable, powerful, and very compelling. And you can go to newlifesd.com if you want to get more information on how to see him this weekend. But thank you, Michael. Thanks a lot. Appreciate it. Really enjoyed having you in here. A couple of things before we wrap up. There's a couple of people that I want to let talk about some stuff that they have going on. Woodsy, your friend is actually playing a show, right? Yeah, I was in a band with this kid in high school, and he actually kicked me out of the band. I was a singer. They went for some choir geek, and needless to say, they never made it. But he's a good friend of mine. He's playing with a girl named Gina Villalobos, and they're headlining for Matthew Ryan, who is phenomenal. And I'm going out to the show. It's at Lestats.
Saturday night, 9 p.m. I'll be there. Come out. Buy your beer. We'll have a great time. There you go. Awesome, man. And also, Liz is in the audience today, and I wanted to let Liz be able to promote a play that she's going to be in, right? Yes. I'm doing Alice in Wonderland. We're with a CYT called Christian New Theater. It's February 26th at 7, and tickets are $10, and you can go to CYT.org. And you can get it online. Awesome. And what are you in the play? I am the cat. The Cheshire Cat. Nice. Very nice. Yeah. Sounds awesome. Jared, let's get you on the microphone, too. Because Jared is the guy that did all of the graphic design that you see at MikeyShow.com. And how do people get a hold of you? Just go to createyourdesignonline.com. We do anything print, anything design, lowest prices around. And we actually have a special right now for all M1s. You get logo design, you get business card design, and you get 1,000 business cards for $150. Sweet. Very cool. All right, well, we got to get out of here. Hey, Mike. Yeah, yeah. I want to say hi to my mom because she's feeling much better. She's out of the hospital. Her surgery went well. Just want to tell her that I love her.
That's very nice. Thank you, buddy. That's very nice. And Woods' wife, Jamie, is in here. Come say hi. Come say hi, Jamie. Come say hi on the air real quick. She looks shy. She is very shy. Hi. Very nice to have Jamie. Can we get the dogs to bark on cue? The dogs, two of their dogs, Yorkies, are in her purse. That is pretty. And they don't even make a sound. Oh, dude, that's fantastic. Yorkies everywhere. That's fantastic. Say hi, buddy. They're so cute. Oh, that's cute. All right. Well, we got to get out of here. What a huge show today. Absolutely, man. At the end of the show, at the end of the show on Friday, I tell you my story. And by the way, I want to let people know that I'm going to be speaking this weekend as well. I will be at the Walk Church in Rancho Bernardo. And that is Sunday at 10. My story is that. And you may hear something in my story that you can relate to. My story is that when I was a kid, I was sexually abused at five years old. Pretty tough for me to talk about. Every time I talk about it, I tell you, every time I talk about it, and I've done it a million times, it's still difficult too. Mostly because I'm a guy and that's hard stuff to talk about. If you have kids, you know why that's tough too.
The reason that I talk about it is because I know that there's people that are listening that have been through something similar. And the way that I've talked about it in the past, the way that I talk about it is that I thought of it kind of like an emotional deformity. What I mean by that is that it's something that I worked without even consciously realizing it for many years to hide. I didn't want anybody to know. I didn't tell anybody about it and buried it myself for years. Didn't talk about it. Certainly didn't talk about it on the air. But the reason that I talk about it on the air is because of the role that it played in who I became. I've said before that I don't believe that anger is a real emotion. I think that anger is something that we have to hide three very real emotions, hurt, sadness, and fear. And through most of my teenage years and into my 20s, I was pretty hurt, sad, and fearful.
And that manifested itself in anger. My radio show when I was on the air 15 years ago was a show that was very hurtful. And I would say that I spent most of my 20s very angry. I grew up feeling really, really insecure about myself. Very low self-esteem. I always felt ugly. I always felt different. Never, ever felt cool. when I was introduced to drugs and alcohol, it was the wrong thing at the wrong time. In 2003, I knew that I was going to die because I was addicted to alcohol to the point where I would shake until I drank. And my dad called me over to their home and he said, I cannot continue to have a relationship with you if you drink. And I left there, continued to drink, but it was just eating away at me. He did that.
Because inside I knew that I was making a choice between my own family and alcohol. That ate away at me for a long time. And in 2003 I was laying in bed and I was looking up at the ceiling. Asked Jesus Christ to come into my life and help me. I'm nervous right now as I'm telling you this story. I'm nervous because I know that there are many people listening right now that are angry. Just at the fact that I've said the words Jesus. Anger is hurt. sadness, and fear. Somebody used a great analogy the other day. They said, you know, man, some of the stuff that I hear you say, I get mad because I want it, but I feel like it's like somebody that's going to school at Harvard and I can't go to Harvard. I want it, but I can't go. Well, what I want you to know is that I couldn't go either. He gave me a free ride, a scholarship. If you go to MikeyShow.com,
There's a section there called Help. If you click there, it'll tell you how you can get a scholarship too. I'm alive today because of Jesus Christ's work in my life, flat out. And I just tell you my story. That's all I can do is just tell you my story. I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just telling you what he did in my life. If you have any issues with addiction or depression or eating disorders or any of that stuff, go to MikeyShow.com and there's a section there that'll help you. I have a whole section there that is put aside for all of those different things. And at the end of the show, on Friday, I play a song for you. And I really want you to listen to the words to this song that I play for you. And the reason that I do is because it was exactly where I was. It's exactly where I was when he got me. And as you listen to it, I want you to listen to the words and think, oh, maybe there's something in there for me too. Great week of radio we had, man.
I am so, so blessed to be working with the people on this show. I love them already. I love them. I love them. And whether you realize it or not, I love you too. And that's the reason I tell this story on Friday. This is a really cool song. Listen to the words. We'll see you again on Monday. The Mikey Show is out.
