Big news early is LaDanian Tomlinson’s departure from the Chargers. Clerk in the store where Woods went to buy his Cope Dip didn’t know Mikey was back on the air so The Kid schooled him! Sienna admits she took autoshop in high school for three years mainly for the parking spot it provided her. More Bannings: butterfly tramp stamps and visors. Jay says he loves his visor and Lauren admits to having a tattoo of a rooster on her ankle. Sienna does not have any tats. Jersey girl MC MDog talks about how she loves herself some “Bulging buff dudes”. The next debate is whether or not you should still be friends with your ex. Mikey then interviews Stanley Alpert from 48 Hours Live to Tell episode about his harrowing experience being kidnapped at gunpoint in NYC. His advice: Never get into the car or you’re done for. Next up on the show was Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee to discuss the LT news. Captain Eo returning to Disneyland sparks Tattoo to tell how to really get yourself into Disney’s famous Club 33. Lauren almost moved to Hong Kong to be a Disney Princess and Dave Matthews sings a Foo Fighter parody to pancakes. Woods laments on Travis Barker’s “Cadillac Problems” which leads to another debate on fame. Name That Commercial Jingle is next which leads to the first ever storming out of the studio in a fit of rage by a new Mikey show cast member! Don’t know who it was? Podcasts, holmes.

KBCT San Diego, Lincoln Financial Media Station, the new home of the Mikey Show. This is FM 94.9. One of the most important things to me is that, you know, when you do retire, I want you to come back and retire as a charger. And he said he would. He said, I'll always be a charger. So that meant a lot to me. Charger President Dean Spanos on the news that came out yesterday that maybe wasn't a shock to anybody. Probably wasn't, you know, definitely not a shock to anybody. But at the same time, I was surprised. Surprise, I think, is a different word than shock. And that's what I felt yesterday. I, you know, my wife said, well, you knew it, right? And I said, yeah. I said, but I didn't imagine it today.
I imagined it closer to the season starting or closer to signing times or closer to the draft or something. I just didn't expect yesterday out of nowhere, boom, they announced LT is going. You know why? Why? They owed him $2 million if they waited until the 28th. Really? Uh-huh. Really? Yeah. It was a roster bonus, and they had to the end of the month to pay it. Yeah. And so they technically could have kept him on for another five days, but why? That is crazy. It's the business of sports. It's the worst thing about sports, man. They asked, you know, yesterday they were asking some pretty tough questions of club president Dean Spanos. And they said, you know, well, Dean, why not just restructure LT? Why not just do it in a way that will make it happen, make it work? Well, you know, difficult question to answer. But, you know, as we do our player reviews every year, you know.
We have to do what we think is in the best interest of the club. And again, like I said, this was a very, very difficult decision. But we felt it was in the best interest to move forward and go our separate ways. It's brutal. So he's just a free agent now? Yep. Anybody can pick him up. We're going to have Kevin Acey, writer for the San Diego Union-Tribune, on the air this morning to talk about it. Kevin Acey was on every major sports and news outlet yesterday. And Jay's got him dialed in to be on the show this morning, and so we'll be talking to him. An amazing show today. We really have a lot of really cool stuff. Let me introduce everybody real quick. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I am 39 years old, and in May, I'll be 40. Lordy, lordy, lordy. I know. I'm getting old. I can wait. And then... We have Woodsy. Woodsy is our sports guy. He is 34 years old. And you will never meet a guy with more energy. And you will never meet a guy. He won't say this about himself, but I'll say it. He is one of the most charismatic guys I think I've ever met in my life. He's one of these dudes where he walks into a room, whether you're a guy, whether you're a girl, you want to be around him. You don't really know why. You just do.
He's Vince Vaughn with a Yankees cap on. That rhymed. That's right. Lauren is our assistant producer, and she's fond of scarves. I would like you to start saying really nice things about me now that I wouldn't say about myself, please. Lauren wouldn't tell you this. So I'll tell you. So I'll tell you. Lauren's got a killer smile, and it lights up a room. Beautiful eyes, too. Yeah. Great eyes. She's got nice eyes. What else? And she's got a nice smile. And I'll tell you what. She is very affectionate towards that boyfriend, Matt, of hers. Whenever they're together, her and Matt. Matt Damon. No, not Matt Damon. Matt, her boyfriend. Matt, her boyfriend. Matt Damon. No, not. I said. I said not Matt Damon. It's her boyfriend, Matt. Matt Damon. She's very, very affectionate, which is really interesting because when you talk to her, she can at times seem a bit guarded. But then when you see her with her fella, you see another side of her. That's right. With her fella. With her fella. That's right. And Sienna. You can say bad things about me if you want. No, there's nothing bad to say, kid. Oh, there's plenty. No, there's not. You are a ray of sunshine, man.
Every day. That's right. Well, this week she's stressed. Yeah, I mean, I'm just a million things on the mind, you know? Hey, for being a 24-year-old girl, getting married on Saturday, I'd say you're holding it together pretty good. I try to keep it in. No one else needs to hear about my problems. You're doing good. She's taking one day off. Yeah, one day. One day. How crazy is that? Taking one day off. And I, like, feel bad about it, too. Oh, come on. I did that, too, when I got married, and I felt awful about it. I just, you know, like, we're like a new little family, and I don't want to be leaving the family for even a minute. Yeah. And it's just like, whoa. I know. Even Manpanion's taking more days off. I know. He's taking, like, you know. What? You're Manpanion. You're Manpanion. Well, his brother is coming to town, and his brother's never been to San Diego. Oh, wow. He's, like, never even been on a plane. Really? Yeah. So this is a big deal. He needs to hang out with the bro. Oh, wow. Do they want to go out with the kid? They probably will. I'll get a kid. Yeah, he's got all of his Pennsylvania boys coming to town, too. What are they doing Friday night before the wedding?
Well, there's going to be a rehearsal dinner. But knowing Todd, he'll want to go out after. And I'll have nothing to do to stop him. He's going to end up with a tiger in Las Vegas. He'll end up in Canada. Yeah. We're at the Olympics. We're not coming back. I know. It's fantastic. You can go out with him, though. Yay. And Jay's our producer. Jay's 49 years old. No, he's not. He's 46. I don't know why I said 40. Oh, because I'm 39. Jay was so quick to stop you. I'm sorry. He's 46. We tell you all the good stuff about Jay. Jay is an extraordinarily hard worker and the guy can build anything you want. Yep. You know what I mean? You say, hey, Jay, we need a helicopter. What time you need it? It's amazing. Two o'clock this afternoon. What do you got for me to work with? Statue of Liberty and some yarn. He doesn't get rattled either. When the helicopter arrives, we want to open the door and have rose petals flowing out of it, filled to the max. Yeah. Yeah. Dude, yesterday. The LT news had been out five seconds. He wrote me an email. He said, Kevin Acy's on the air tomorrow. Yes. I'm watching him on TV. I'm watching Kevin Acy on TV. He's texting Jay. Yeah, he's texting Jay with his left thumb. He's like, I got it, dude. I'll be on. It was awesome. So anyway, so we'll be talking to him. But yeah, LT, the big story today. And I mean, I guess we all knew it.
I guess we knew that it was coming. It's still hard when you see one of your favorite players, one of the genuine good guys in the NFL. Like when I lived in Dallas, when Emmitt went to the Cardinals, we were like, really? The Cardinals. So it's going to be really weird for Charger fans to see him in a Steelers uniform or something next year. It's going to be brutal. Don't say it. Yeah, you just said that. Don't say it. It's going to be brutal. I felt it in my stomach, like physically felt something. It's like a punch. You physically felt it, right? Where don't you want him to go, Mike? Like, what would kill you? I just don't want him to go anywhere. If he went to Raiders, yeah, that would be the worst. See, that would be bad for him and you guys. I don't think you would either. I really want to consider that question because I think to myself, the easy answer is the Raiders. But is there something else? The Cowboys, I would not like that at all. I heard some talk about the Vikings. What is that all about?
Adrian Peterson, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Brett Favre. If Favre comes back, which he probably will. Can you imagine? Man. I've heard talk of the Patriots. Oh, yeah. That'd be a great fit for him, dude. They'd use him. They'd be able to utilize him. Yeah. You know? I think, you know, I just can't imagine that guy in another uniform. It's awful. It's just tough. 570-1949. I want to know what you think. You know, maybe you're just hearing the news right now, which I doubt, but if you are, or if you heard the news yesterday and you want to give me your opinion on it, 570-1949 or text us 949mikey at gmail.com. And M1 is a Mikey Show listener. You belong to the M1 Nation if you're an M1. And what we need you to do as an M1 is spread the word. And the reason for that is because there's so many people that just do not know that we're on FM 94.9. I mean, seriously? Like there's just a lot of people that don't know. Woodsy was at the store this morning, some dude, right? Tell that story. I ran over to, Jay was loading audio and I couldn't load my audio. So I had to wait for him to get done. So I ran over to Ralph's, which is the grocery store right next door to the station. Grab a can of Copenhagen and was behind. The guy goes, what are you doing up so early? I was the first only one in there. And I said, well, I actually work on a radio program. And he goes, oh, what show? And I said, oh, the Mikey show. And he goes, really? He goes, where's Mikey, man?
Like he's off the radio? Yeah. Like that kind of thing? Yeah. Like, where's Mikey, man? I go, we're at 94.9 now, right next door. So tune in 6 to 10, Monday through Friday. Yeah. I mean, there's... Dude, I'm telling you, there are so many people that just had... They have no idea. It was so disheartening. Well, yeah. Well, now you're spreading. It's spreading. Yeah, I'm spreading the word. We need help spreading the word. That's how I felt. Yeah. I kind of slunk out to my car like... Come on, man. Yeah. Well, listen, that's what you do then, man. If you're an M1, you spread the word. It's got to be some kind of a grassroots campaign where we let people know that we have gone to a different radio station. And that means that you just tell people. You let them know. I don't know how to do it. If I did, I'd be doing it right now. You know, so however you can do it. And our phone number, again, 570-194-9949. Mikey at gmail.com if you want text. The LT story is so huge. Not even if you're not into football. I mean, it's like news news. Forget sports news. It's news news. I watched a lot of stuff yesterday about it on ESPN. And, you know, the consensus is that the guy's still got a lot left in the tank.
Yeah. A lot. I mean, he is getting older. I mean, he's kind of at that age for running backs where they typically start to decline. But, man, it wouldn't surprise me or anybody else to see him catch on somewhere else and do really, really well. I think it's the pride thing, too, right? You know, he wants to prove to the world that he's still got it. Here's Dean Spanos talking about how LT took the news. He said, you know, look, I know this is the tough part of the business. But, you know, LT was LT. He's the most gracious person you ever want to meet. Yeah, he is. He's a very gracious guy, very humble guy. And you're going to miss him in the community. Yeah, absolutely. Just in the community, it's going to be. OG's won't be the same. That's right. OG's. Explain. Explain. OG's Pizza, man. He's a big supporter of the OG's Pizza. Yeah, he's on the commercials and everything. Nice. Dude, it's a bummer. So that's the big thing. And then also is the fact that on the cover of the UT today, on the front page of the Union Tribune, they're talking about how now Toyota may be looked into criminally. So crazy. Yeah, they just announced that they're facing a U.S. criminal investigation into how they handled the safety problems that led to massive vehicle recalls. No way.
Problems with the sticky accelerator, accelerators that can be pinned down by loose floor mats and a braking glitch affected by in the hybrid models. Also, there's steering problems in the Corolla. I mean, just there's been deaths due to this. So documents were reviewed by the Congress and they appear to show that Toyota consistently dismissed the possibility that electronic failures could be responsible for incidents of unintended acceleration. So like this could have been prevented and they overlooked it and just. We're like, oh, it's fine. So, yeah, the top executive, who's the grandson of the company founder, is going to Capitol Hill, and there's going to be a hearing, and it's a big deal. Oh, man. Listen, I've owned a ton of Toyotas. Reliable vehicles, man. My dad always says, you change the oil every 3,000 miles, it'll last forever. And they kind of do. You know, you change the oil in those Japanese cars, they're great. They run. Really, really well. Have you ever changed oil in your car before, Sienna? That look that Sienna's giving me right now says to me, Mike, really? Really. Well, I mean, I know where it's located. Uh-huh. And I know that you have to pull out the dipstick. Right. And you have to wipe it. Yeah. Clean it. Yeah. And then you put it back in to see the level. Yeah. Of the oil. I was in auto shop for three years, but. Wow. Really?
Yeah, it was first period. I was only in it because the teacher let me park there and there was no parking lot at the school. And I would go in like, you know, five minutes before first period was over and I took attendance and I left. Are you serious? Yeah, I was a really good student. Wow. Wow. So, yeah, that's the deal with Toyota. They may be investigating them criminally, which is gnarly. There's a Superman comic book. This is like the Holy Grail of comics. Greetings. It may be even bigger than the Holy Grail. A 1938 rare copy of the first comic book featuring Superman. It is an action comic number one edition or something like that. I'm going to get calls being like, you didn't say it right. Well, it was sold yesterday by a private seller to a private buyer. No names were released. Mint condition copy sold for a million dollars. I'd get one. A million dollars. A couple of nerds making it right. Yeah, dude. Can I just tell you, in 1938, it cost 10 cents to buy that. Oh, my gosh. Amazing.
They say it's rated an 8.0 grade or quote-unquote very fine, which is impossible to find. Normally, this same comic sells for $300,000 to $400,000, but this one was in such amazing condition. A million bucks. Wow, man. Who do you think bought it? Like Donald Trump or something? I think probably some really rich comic dude. Probably pocket change for them. I've never got into comics, man. Ever. I never did. I just don't like... I never did. When it's something like that, you don't even read it. It just sits there, right? Like a nice baseball card. Yeah, I liked girls. Oh, okay. I did too. I just couldn't get them. So that was probably... So you read comics? Did you read comics? No. No, because I didn't have anybody... In order for me to be into something when I was a kid, I had to be introduced to it. That's why I like the Twilight Zone. When I was a child, I didn't like comic books and stuff that other little kids were into. I like The Twilight Zone. The reason? Because my brothers watched The Twilight Zone. That's why I like Police Academy. I love Police Academy. Do kids now even read comics? I don't even know where a comic book store is. Don't think so. Online, maybe?
Wirelessly? Yeah, on their Kindle. I think 25,000 people at Comic-Con would beg to differ. That's true. This is true. Good point. Yeah, they do. I don't know where you buy them. Do you guys know where you buy Comic-Con? I know that there's a comic book store somewhere in Kearney Mesa that I saw, but that's like the only one I know of in San Diego. Legend has it. They're in San Diego. They're in like 7-Eleven. You can get them in the back rack. Yeah, but not like the legit comics. Really? Absolutely. Yeah. I think that they are, you know, comics are comics. I think comics are comics. I think you buy, you know, whatever. I don't know. Jay, that's not what I buy off the back rack at 7-Eleven. I was waiting. It's not a comic book, bro. What are you doing looking in the back row, Jay? No doubt. You're a married man. Yeah, Woodsy buys the stuff that has plastic wrapped around it. Censored, written across. You know what I mean? Black bars across. That's right. Let's see. 570-1949 is the number. Phones are dead. I'm surprised. Talking about comics, people get really into it. I'm not surprised. Four people, and two of them are my mom and dad, nowhere on the air. And mine too. Yeah.
Maybe the guy from Ralph's will call in. If you're listening, call in. I'd love to talk to you again. I got a lot of love last night. I went to get my brakes fixed. I don't have my car right now. It's really hard. And I said my name, and they were like, Sienna, Sienna, I recognize your voice. And the guys were yelling, that's Sienna from the Mikey Show. That's cool. Nice. I like it. Shout out to Duotone. So did they hear you on the air back in December? Yeah. Well, what's a trip? Here's the thing that's a trip with the phones is that if you go online, the deal with the Mikey show is blowing up. Yeah. You know, it's blowing up. You see it online, it's blowing up. The phones have been dead. Not so much. Perfect. Let's see. Some of the text messages we're getting. Mikey, it hurts. LT's gone. I think the best thing should be, the best thing should have been to pick up another running back and he could have shared carries. I hope we don't have to have another situation like Drew Brees when he left and then went through for 5,000 yards. That's my biggest fear. And I feel like an awful person admitting that because LT's a good guy. But I'm like, dude, don't leave and then go do great somewhere else. Go win a championship somewhere. It's hard to see. Do it here. You guys have to understand, though. LT, is he 30 or 31? I think he thought he was 29.
Let me double check for you, brother. I think he's in the 30s now. He's got to be at least 30. Really? LT's 30 at the league. I think he's older than me. Really? I think he is. We'll check it out. It's a deal. And when running backs turn 30 years old, production goes down. Born in 79. I'm terrible at math. He'll be 30 in a couple months. 31. It's 2010. Yeah, it's 2010. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we're terrible. I got it. Yeah, nice job. I'm like. Really bad at math, too. So. I'm, like, really bad at math, too. Mark that. After 30, they go downhill, you know. Yep. And it doesn't mean anything. It's not anything against LT personally. It's just that. So. But what you got to factor into it is a pride factor. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. You know, he's got pride just like anybody.
He'll go out there and he'll want to prove to the world that he's got another season left in the tank, and he probably does. Dude still had 12 TDs last year. I mean, that's no joke. And, you know, he was splitting carries with Sproles, and they're saying that Sproles isn't going to be in every down back, so now they've got to go draft somebody. They will. I think that that's a position that you can find guys that are not in the first round. You can find studs that aren't in the first round. I'm sad. I am too. I'm really, like, right now it hit me and I'm bummed. Yeah, it's a Charger thing, man. You know, especially when he's that kind of guy. He just brought so much life to the team. Oh, for sure. For sure. It stinks. M1 Brian. Hey, how are you? Good, man. Yeah, no, you guys are talking about how the kids aren't reading comics these days. Oh, I knew it. Are the kids reading comics these days? They are, actually. I work at a school. I'm on my way in right now. They read Naruto. What is Naruto? Isn't that? No, that's a Mexican soup, and it used to be a Mexican band back in the early 80s, Minuto. That's Minuto. Yeah, you're talking about Minuto. Oh, sorry about that. I was thinking Naruto. It's Japanese graphic comic that you actually read backwards, you know, sticking to the tendency of Japanese. But, yeah, it's read backwards. It's like a graphic.
It's like a graphic comic. You sell that or you read it? He's a teacher. I don't sell that stuff. You take it away from the kids in the class. Okay, you see it. I take it away all the time. I take it away. I take away iPhones. Now, when you've taken away the comics, have you maybe taken a little gander through them? Have you checked them out? Yeah, I took a brief look. My wife understands it a lot better than I do because she's a fan of anime. I just kind of look at it and I'm like, oh. It looks like the stuff that's on the television. And after that, I usually just throw it at my desk and, you know, make them do more homework. Brian, when you say you read it backwards, is that back to front or do you have to hold it in front of a mirror to read it? I wish it was in front of a mirror. I wouldn't have to take it away so much. It's back to front. It's back to front. Yeah, that's how Japanese read. Really? Yeah, really. You don't know that? Yeah. Japanese do read right to left. Right to left. Yeah, I think they read right to left. That would freak me out.
I thought it was up and down with the characters. I think it's up to down, but back to front. Could you imagine if one day English letters were written like that? What do I do? Where are you a teacher, Brian? I'm over in Linda Vista. There you go. It means he doesn't want to give the school out, which is fine. I'm not really a teacher. I understand, Brian. That's not the school. Yeah. All right, Brian. Thanks for the call. No worries. Check you guys later. Appreciate it. Bye. See you later. 570-1949. And if you would like to call us or, excuse me, text us, you can do that too. Text is 949mikey at gmail.com. And M1 Paparazzi is on the line. What's up, Paparazzi? Morning. How you doing? Morning. I'm doing all right. My sister is actually getting married this year. Yeah.
Oh, hello there, fellow bride. That's right. It's a Sienna. And she came to me, and I thought I'd bring it up to you guys, and told me how much it was costing her for wedding photography. I about choked. How much? Oh, you don't want to know. Initially, just for them to show up was three grand. and then for the photo album was another $2,000. I'm looking at her like, that photo album better drive you to work and back. Yeah, no kidding, man. Dude, that's not even bad. That's not. That's like a good deal. Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me that $5,000 is a good deal? If you, for like, you don't know, photographers charge so much money, like $1,500 an hour. Oh. For a wedding? Mine cost me $200, my buddy. He's a photographer. Yeah, hey, paparazzi, you take pictures. Why don't you take the pictures at the wedding and save her some dough? I was looking at, like, we could afford numerous high-end cameras and get a few people from college that are taking photography school, have them take pictures. Yeah, man, it's brutal. For sure. Thanks, dude. Well, it looks like Manny Ramirez is beating his own record for being Manny. Manny being Manny.
Oh, Padre fans, it's your favorite Dodger. It's your favorite Dodger in the whole world. He's a little, how do you put it? What's a word that you use? Woodsie's got the latest on Manny. We'll do that. It's a big day on the Mikey Show. Huge day on the Mikey Show. Day 17, my brother. Is it? There you go. I like it. I like it. On FM 94.9. I'm DeMarshall. But for Volvo, a brand that has always been synonymous with safety and trust, it's simply what we believe. As our founders said over 80 years ago, cars are driven by people. The guiding principle behind everything we make at Volvo, therefore, is and must remain safety. This principle to build beautifully designed cars that protect you and the ones you love still holds true.
In fact, we are so confident in the cars we put on the road today that we now have a best-in-class coverage plan to protect you from unplanned expenses. It's called the Volvo Safe and Sound Coverage Plan. It provides five years of warranty, five years of factory schedule maintenance, five years of wear and tear coverage, and five years of roadside assistance. It's the Mikey Show, and we're getting lots of text messages in here. LT stuff? Yeah, LT stuff. This text says, Mikey, what if we ended up facing... LT's new team in the Super Bowl. Don't even think like that. M1 Redbeard. You think he'd be fired up or what? I mean, no matter what, if he plays the Chargers, you think he's going to be fired up? M1 Captain Spider Guy says, Hey, Mikey, there's comic book stores all over the place. You can also get graphic novels at bookstores. And graphic novels. All right.
I don't know. What's the difference? I don't know. Mikey, they sell comics at Barnes & Noble. That's M1 Cali. Yeah, it's just a thing. I just don't understand what a graphic novel is. I believe that the movie 300 had something to do with graphic. I think it's a long, long comic. It's not just a one little book within the series. I think it's the... It's a full-on thing. Yeah, it's the equivalent of a novel. Yeah. 570-1949 is the number. 949mikey at gmail.com if you want to call us. Woodsy, what do we got going on in sports? Oh, man, another big day. Give you your update on your medal count. Yeah. Germany's creeping on us. Are they really? Yeah, we've got 25 total medals. The Germans are right behind with 21. We both have seven golds. Really? Killing them in the bronze category. We got five more than those guys. Yeah, but that's number two, right? It's three. Number three. Yeah, the third. So, hey, but we're still doing, still looking really good. Besides, you know, LT, which we're obviously going to talk more about throughout the day, there's another interesting Olympic story that I ran across yesterday. Yeah. Did you know, and I didn't know this, maybe you guys had heard this, you know that Canada had pretty much guaranteed that they were going to be the overall medal winner? They had? Yeah, they did. And they're pretty much conceding defeat at this point.
Chris Rudge, who's the chief executive of the Canadian Olympic Committee, said we'd be living in a fool's paradise if we said we're going to catch the Americans and win. I have a question for you. Yeah, fire away. Does a country actually win the Olympics? I've always wanted to know that myself. I don't think there's a presentation to them as, hey, you won the Olympics. But the medals, hey, yeah, we won the most medals, then we're the best. Okay, so Manny Ramirez. So imagine this, if you will, Mikey. You just start spring training. You're ready. You lost in the playoffs last year. You get to spring training. You've got one of the best hitters in the world, Manny Ramirez, on your team. Right. And Manny says, well, I think I'm just going to enjoy myself this year because I know it's my last year here. Are you kidding? No. Cut three. This is a reporter talking to Manny about that. Have they given you indication that they won't sign you next year? You're just speculating. Yeah, and you're speculating, but I'm not 23 anymore. Manny, you might not want to speculate on something like that because it may upset fans and teammates. Especially not in February. Yeah, it's February. So he's in the last year of his two-year $45 million contract. Spent a large part of last year on the...
in serving a suspension because of his performance-enhancing drug use. Yeah. One of the best hitters in baseball, but one of the absolute lunatics that's out there. He's kind of kooky. Yeah, he is, my man. He is. So Kobe Bryant is finally coming back to the Lakers after 18 days off. He's kind of a bum left ankle. Yeah. And cut four is Kobe talking about his leg. Where I'm at now, I feel confident about playing. And, you know, while I play, getting to 100 percent, it's about probably 80, 85 right now. The ultimate test, you know, is to see how it develops and, you know, how it holds the stress or the pressure of travel and then, you know, playing it back to back. So that's always a huge test. So, you know, we just have to see how it does. Thank you. They've been playing pretty well without him. I think they're going to be obviously a lot better once he gets back. Yeah. So this is a pretty cool story. I don't know if you know this, but the combine is this week, the NFL combine. Love it. I do too. You know, it's kind of, for me, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have a combine, but I love watching those guys run. Yeah. There's a really cool story, and as a Notre Dame fan, I am not.
a USC fan at all, but I am really, really, really pulling for Stephon Johnson. He was the running back from USC that dropped the weights on his throat. So dude is, he's bench pressing, right? Yeah, but doing bench presses. Dude is bench pressing and as he's bench pressing, falls out of his hands. He was at full extension with 275 pounds above his chest and he dropped it and it crushed his throat. I mean, it's unbelievable that he lived. Yeah. Couldn't talk for a while. He's coming around now. He will be at the Combine. Unreal. And he will be looking for an NFL team. I am rooting so hard for this guy, man. Oh, you got it. That's so inspirational to me. Me too. That's so inspirational. The scary thing is, at the Combine, they have to see how many times they can bench press 225 pounds. So that's going to be a little, it's just a little, it skeeves me out a little bit. Of course it does. Too soon. Oh, yeah. Did you have anyone spotting him when he did that? Yeah, he did.
Really? What happened to that guy? I don't know. Dropped the ball? I think he may have been fired as the spotter. Could be. Is what happened. Took that second to tie his shoes. That's right. But really pulling for that guy, man. Want to see him make it. Want to see him get signed. Want to see him do well. Absolutely. That's phenomenal. Absolutely. We are having a, this is an incredible story, man. If you've ever seen the show Live to Tell. Unbelievable show. It's on 48 Hours, right? My wife got me into this show and I've turned so many people on to it. It's one of the, it's really good, but it's also really creepy because what they do is they tell you these stories of people that have been through these experiences that you would never want to go through. So it's always like I'm watching it and I'm enjoying it. But at the same time, I'm freaked out and I'm scared and I'm like, but there was this guy. His name is Stanley Alpert. It was a freezing cold night. One of those bitterly cold.
winter New York nights. There was nobody around. It was roughly 11 o'clock. I was walking down 10th Street toward 5th Avenue in the village. And as I get toward the corner of 10th Street and 5th Avenue, from out of nowhere, I didn't see it, I didn't hear it before, I feel a tug on my elbow. I spin around. There's a big, fat, black-barreled automatic machine gun sticking in my gut. There are two guys behind me. Shove me from behind. Push me out into the street. Move, move. Don't say a word. Just get in the car. Crazy. Story, dude. I mean, let me tell you, it gets so chilling and it gets so crazy of what obviously he's alive. But what he went through, what he did, what happened to him is just chilling. Can't wait. So he's going to be on with us next hour and tell you about.
The whole experience. Crazy story. We're also going to have staff writer for the Union Tribune, Kevin Acey, on to tell us more about the LT stuff and kind of get us all filled in with what's going on with LT and how it all went down. Things that should be on the band list. Now you tell me. You can call me 570-1949 or you can text 949mikey at gmail.com. Hemp necklaces. Absolutely. Lauren would disagree, maybe? No, I wouldn't wear one. I don't know if I have a strong stance on it enough to say band, though. Yeah. They have, like, hemp sandals and stuff, too, and it's like... Woods. Well, I have some, I think. You have hemp sandals? They look like normal flip-flops, though. No, that's not normal here. Todd had a pair when I met him, too. It even bothers me when she does it. How are you supposed to know? They're like frayed, aren't they? Yeah, I'm from Texas. He's from Texas. It just sounds itchy. Doesn't that itch? No, no, they're really comfortable. Like super, super comfortable. It doesn't matter. I'll bring them in. I'll bring them in. Don't. They say hemp probably on Little Tag. They do. They're afraid. No, they're not afraid. They're not afraid. Got one for you. Oh, my God. They're in my closet. They're not afraid. I cannot wait to see it. Got one for you. What do you got? Butterfly tattoo.
Oh, so overdone. So over it. You don't like the one on the small of my back? Yeah. Your tramp stamp. I have a lot of friends that actually have the butterfly tattoo. On the small of their back, right? On different places. The hip bone is the other spot. Is it? On the hip bone. The butterfly? My wife has a daisy. Where? On her ankle. That's kind of cute. That's cute on her. And either you girls, Sienna or Lauren, have tattoos? I have no tattoos. I know Lauren's got the, she's got the rooster, right? I have it on my ankle, but you can't see because I've got my Johnny Cash outfit on today. That's right. You can see that tattoo from space. It's so big. Yeah, that's right. I think the Hubble took a picture of it a couple of weeks ago. Which she really loves because she didn't want it to be as large as it is. I didn't. No. I talked into it. By the tattoo artist. Yeah, now it's like... Everywhere I go. Oh, that's awesome. Terrible impersonation. There we go. That's pretty good. That was a better impersonation. You don't have one, right, Sienna? A tattoo? Yeah. Did you get one? I've thought about it a couple times, but now I'm over it. I just...
Get over things really quickly. So we have people texting us. We have people emailing us. Because we do the banned list every once in a while. Things that should be banned. Baby oil at the beach. Oh, the people that lie out and rub baby oil on themselves. And they're like, smell like a baby. And they're so shiny. And you just burn so badly. I'm just thinking sunburn. But that's like what they used to do. And people still bring it to the beach. Woodsy. How about the one we saw at dinner Friday night? What? Remember the one I called out? Uh-uh. The guy walking. The bedazzle. Oh, my gosh. Dude, I have not laughed that hard. Woods had me laughing so hard, I had tears coming out of my eyes. And it's the way he does it. The guy walks by and the guy had a bedazzled shirt. He had a blue button down with bedazzled diamonds. But it was kind of like in the vein of like... Ed Hardy. Was it? No, but it didn't have like a dragon clutching a rabbit. But it was like those frilly... Or like a bald eagle on it.
Diamonds. Like diamonds across his chest. And he's walking carrying a Cosmo, no less. What was the phrase that you were saying? I go, he walked by our table and I go, things that should be banned, things that should be banned, things that should be banned. Like that really fast because I wanted to remember. If you say it three times, you'll remember. Yeah. Guys, bedazzled shirts, out. Yeah. No diamonds on your shirt. Never in. This one doesn't apply to me because I can't do it. Skin tight t-shirts on guys. Oh, like the creatine shirts. What is that? Creatine. Oh, oh. Like, super, like, buff guys. I wish I was buff, though. That would wear the tight shirts. I would if I was buff. Yeah, if I didn't, if I, if I didn't shop for bras at Victoria's Secret, I would definitely do that. I would, too. If I didn't have moobs. You don't need a man's ear. Man boobs. I do, too. You mean, like, working out or, like, hanging out? No, the guys that just, like, think they're so hot and their shirts are, like, just below the shoulder, you know?
Like, I don't know. Like the gorillas that are bulging out? Yeah. I wish I was big just once. Hey, MCM dog, don't you kind of like it when those guys wear that? I love it with the gorillas when they have those huge bulging muscles coming out of the, the tighter the better. That's what I'm talking about, Sierra. Yeah. Sierra, don't you agree with that? Not at all. You don't kind of like the- We can tell if you wear a regular t-shirt, I can tell you have a good body. Just chill out and stop bragging. Yeah. I don't know. I think- Boy, I would. If I had it. I would. Yeah. In a heartbeat. If nothing else, you know that MC Meldog would think you were pretty hot. Absolutely. Oh, absolutely. You already think that Woodsy's kind of hot. Oh, my boy Woodsy? Woodsy baby? Yeah. He's adorable. He's adorable. Yeah. He's cute. You just need just a little bit more muscle. Yeah. And maybe just a gold chain or something like that. Probably more of a tan, too. Yeah. Creamy white. Tan would be good. Are you guys on board with visors being banned? Absolutely. I love my visor. Weird. What's the problem with... Just so you know, Woodsy says weird, and it means, oh, why does that shock me? Yeah, it's shocking. Oh, yeah. It's so crazy. I don't have a problem with visors. My only thing to wear visors may be okay is if you're, like, on the golf course. Yeah, but it's like...
Why not just wear a hat? What is the point of the visor? Because heat escapes through your head and through your feet. So if you have a hat on, it traps the heat. So if you have a visor and it's open, you don't get as hot, but it keeps the sun out of your eyes. I imagine a sunburn across my part in my hair. I hear you. I think visors are totally cool. If your name is John Gruden. Steve Spurrier. Steve Spurrier. I don't know who that is. Bob Stoops. Yeah. No, what's wrong with the thing? Tongue rings. Eh. So, like, whatever, do you if you like the tongue ring, but, like, it is so distracting. If you're trying to have a conversation with someone, it's like, and they're, like, flailing their tongue about and you're just staring at it. They always do that, too. Yeah, and they'll, like, stick their tongue out and, like, And it's like, ah. It's kind of trashy, I think. I went with a friend of mine in high school and she went to get hers pierced and I watched it and never have I wanted, like, I almost fainted. It was a horrific thing to see. Take your two fingers, pinch your tongue as hard as you can in the middle. It almost makes you want to vomit. All they say, they don't give you a shot or anything. He just says, stick out your tongue. I'm going to stick.
The piercing through. And he said, your instincts are going to want you to pull your tongue back inside because it's going to hurt. You can't do that or it's going to rip your tongue. Do they do anything to numb it? No. Maybe they do now, but when I went with his friend, we were in PB, and she just had to stick her tongue out. And I was like, she ended up taking it out that night. Yeah, for sure. Makes my whole body ache. Bad decision, bad decision. Lady Gaga songs. Yes. They should be banned. I like it secretly. I like it. It's catchy. I'm so embarrassed. My wife could call in and totally nail me because I like this song. I would just love to hear you in your vehicle going, my poker face. Her go-to move is just repeating things. It's catchy, though, right? It's really catchy, though. Just Dance, like, that was the jam. I like Just Dance. I will say that. Just Dance. It's catchy. Play it again. More. I need more. Just Dance. Everybody's moving. And it's full of auto-tune, the thing that... You love. I love it. This is, like, Ellen's favorite song. I remember I used to watch a lot, and she would always dance at the beginning of her shows to this. Well, there's, like, a fourth or fifth grade class in Brooklyn, I believe it is, somewhere in New York.
Oh! What? Oh. Brooklyn. Come on. But yeah, there's these kids and they're amazing. They have amazing voices and they redo popular songs. The choir. It's like a choir. I saw this on YouTube. No, guys. It's a television show called Glee. No, no, no. But they redo popular songs, and they redid Just Dance, and that's the only reason I like that song. I think that another reason that you might like the song is because you like the song. Because it sounds good? Yeah, because... I never would have heard that song if it weren't for that little YouTube video. Really? It isn't that when you hear it, it doesn't sort of sound good in your ear? No? That is awful. Really? Yeah. Lauren, you'd be cleaning the house and your underwear to this. Yeah, I would, actually. It's my favorite part. Lauren says that she cleans her house and her underwear to what she calls bad pop music. Yeah, mindless. Just move it, shake it.
So hot. But you don't clean your place to, you know, the three tenors. So there must be something about it that, you know what I mean? Right? Makes you move. There's something about it that makes you move. Yeah, it comes me up with energy. But I'm not somebody that, like, goes to the club. But if it was a song that you liked, you wouldn't listen to it. Or if you didn't like it, you wouldn't listen to it at all. Some of them I have to, like, they'll come on Pandora and I'll have to put the thumbs down. I don't like this song, so they hopefully never play it again. Really? Yeah. She's now getting rid of the Gaga. Yeah, of course. She ain't cleaning her apartment to Amapola. You know why? Because it doesn't get stuck in her head. And it doesn't have a bunch of autotune on it. The autotune stuff is great. You love it. Oh, I can't get enough of it. I think it sounds great in my ears. Yeah, mark that. What in the world?
M1 Lynn. Good morning. What should be banned? Headbands on men. The roll-up bandana headbands. Yes. Headbands on men. I've got a friend back home in Dallas named Dan Murphy, and the dude's a big fan of the headband at the gym or at the pool. We call him Bandana Dan. Oh, I would not want to be called Bandana Dan. Bandana Mike. But bandana mic does not sound as good as bandana Dan. It doesn't at all. But bandana Dan don't sound that great either. Everybody's dancing. That's right. Except for me because I'm the one with no rhythm. Larry King was talking to the Flying Tomato. They call you the Tomato Zeppelin, don't they? Yes, they do. Yeah. What do you do? You ride the board and you drive it in the face. What do you do? It's called snowboarding. Yeah. I'm literally the best in the world. What do you do with that? With a board. You ride it. You get on top of it? Yeah. That's like a surfboard on the snow. There's a blonde girl there. She said that. I don't know what it is. But anyway. That's what she said. She says that's what she said? That's what she means. It's a common joke that people make when you say something that would be something maybe that like a girl would say. Do they, when you do that, do you tweet that? No, that's on Twitter. You can tweet it. You can if you want to. So you tweet the she said. That's what she said. Or we just shortened it to that's. Like you said, do you get on top of it? And ride it. And ride it. And I said, that's what she said. No, you didn't. I heard when you said it, you said that's. That's right. I said that's. I'm sorry. We've shortened it around here. Yeah. By around here. Are you talking about that song by the Counting Crows? I had that kid in the studio here talk to him. And he did the round here.
Something. Something. And he was dated to Jennifer Aniston at the time. He dated to her. Yeah, you're talking about Adam Duritz from The Counting Crow. That's right. Young Jewish kid. I loved him. He came in here. The two of us got along together. Great. Afterwards, we went to Carnegie Deli. I bought him a sandwich. He's a good dude. He's a great guy. Great singer. You want me to sing more of it? Sure. Round here. That's the only part of it I know. It's a good song. Here is Larry King with a flying tomato himself. Sean White. Where is he? Uh-oh. Specifically, what do you use on it? And do you ever plan to cut it? On his hair? Yeah, what do you use on your hair? And are you going to cut it? You know, it's strange. I don't really do much to it. It's more of a lot of water and then shaking. Of course he doesn't, right? I mean, of course he doesn't. Natural juices and berries. Yeah, of course. If you can imagine. But...
I think that's why I grew it out in the first place is all my friends started to cut their hair short and spike it. And that became very popular. Every boy at school would show up with that hairstyle. And I just decided it wasn't for me and figured I'd grow it long. You are courageous. He's so courageous. Dude, that was not me. Plus, the fact that you're a redhead might have something to do with that you didn't want to faux hawk. Because I think it looks weird. That is true. I like the faux hawks. That's what I wear. I wear a faux hawk. Yeah. Well, who doesn't? You do? Yeah. Really? Not super. You don't wear a faux hawk at all, I don't think. I do. I do this. He does. He does. He does the thing where you push it, you smoosh it. Yeah. You've never seen that on him? I only see it straight up. Yeah. The cool faux hawk now is the short one, right? Yeah. Where you just barely... It's barely. Yeah. Yeah. I don't do... It's not... Three feet taller. No, I like what you claim to do. I do. But, yeah, I mean, the more people say I should cut it, I just figure I'd grow it longer. He's like me. He doesn't like to be told what to do. Woodsy does not like to be told what to do. Hey, Woods, cut your hair. I'm growing it out. Yeah. Okay? You need to shave. I'm growing a beard. If you want Woodsy to do something, then you just tell him to do the opposite. They'll take care of it for you. Yep. Tell me what you think of this.
570-1949-949mikey at gmail.com. Mikey, I met a cool guy a few months ago. We've been on three dates so far. He's planned some pretty romantic stuff and fun dates, and I had a good time talking to him. We did kiss a few times, but after getting to know him better, I feel that we are not compatible. I think they Frenched. I bet. It's the grossest word I've ever heard in my life. I guarantee they Frenched. Oh, 100%. He is a really cool guy and I still want to be friends with him. How do I move us back to being friends without making it all weird? Sleep with him. Too late. It's over. Once you go there, you can't go back to being friends. It's weird. Now, I think that there may be a difference between the way that a guy thinks about it and the way that a girl thinks about it. For some reason, I tend to think that women feel that they can go back to being just friends. Is that true, Lauren and Sienna? I don't think that, but some women. Sienna? I have a great, great friend that we were intimate at one time, yes. But how old were you? Were you like 16? I was in college. Oh, okay. Like yesterday. And you guys are still friends? It's like two weeks ago. Yeah, yeah. No, he lives in Arizona, and he's now married, and I was invited to the wedding. Yeah. And he was invited to mine. He can't make it to mine, though.
Now, is that... And we talk on the phone, like, once a week. Really? See, I was thinking the difference between friends and friendly. I mean, I am friendly with a lot of people that maybe I dated, meaning that there's no discontent between the two of us. But I don't carry on any, like, lasting relationship in any way. Yeah, I've heard Sienna's... story as well and i believe that to be the exception because i've heard a few people be able to do it but i think it's tough yeah i i think mine could definitely be the exception because i mean there's other people that i'm friends with but not on a close basis where we talk you know he's like the one guy who we just like ah this isn't gonna work we're better friends 570-1949-949mikey gmail.com what do you think is it possible Woodsy, do you have any of those? Yeah, I'm friends with an ex-girlfriend from college. And, you know, not super close. You're going to say friends with benefits. No, no. Friends with. I'm like, come on. Very faithful married man. No, we're friendly. And, you know, I get the update probably once a quarter of how she and her kids and her husband are doing. It's solid. You know, it's good. The only updates I get.
Are there updates that are written on Facebook? Yeah, and that's how we communicate is through Facebook. I actually just remembered I have one too. There you go. Wait, you mean that you actually, that you actively communicate with? Yeah, yeah. But we were like, it was so awkward that we were even dating in the first place because we were friends and then we dated. And we almost like laughed at the fact we were dating. So now we're able to like, that doesn't even. come up at all. But someone that I would like, someone that I loved, I don't know if I could ever just be friends with. Really? Yeah. This text from M1VW says, Morning Mikey show, going from friends to dating to friends is possible, but you just need a window of time. It can't be a fast flip. Right. And I think that's what I was just kind of talking about. Friends, dating friends. Yeah. Going that way? Yeah. How long does a period of time need to be? Depends on how long you dated him. How long was it for you with the weird one? Probably like a month. Really? It was a month of uncomfortable? It was a month of like, I mean, we stopped dating because I was walking, I was in college and I was walking up to the party and I saw him walking into the bedroom with his ex-girlfriend. Oh, it was that guy? No, it was different. Is it a different guy? Lord. Lauren, how many dudes?
Careful. Yeah. No, I meant like cheated or we're bad. Yeah. Yeah, I know. So that might explain the wall, the guard. Yeah, a little bit of the brick wall. Yeah. Yeah. And so you saw him. walking into a place with another girl yeah but both of these guys that did those things it's like i was never that like we were dating but it wasn't like this is my boyfriend so and so you know but yeah i walked i could see through the sliding glass doors i was like walking up to their party she had a flashlight yeah yeah miner's hat it was a party and i saw them walking in the bedroom together like hand in hand and i was like oh okay there that went there that goes but i was waiting for him to come admit it he never did yeah yeah I can't do it. I think that I don't want my wife doing that either. You know, I'm just being honest with you. You know, I don't want I want my wife talking to some dude that she used to see. And I don't see any of the chicks that I used to. I don't I'm not friends with any chicks that I used to see. And the reason is because at some point, at some point, I am going to be in a gigantic argument with my wife.
And I am going to be vulnerable. And at some point, she's going to be in an argument with me. And I'm going to have done something that really upset her. And she is going to be vulnerable. And she could be talking to some guy. And he's doing the, oh, cry on my shoulder. Now, what if he's single at the same time that she's going through the hard thing? It's too much stuff that I don't want out there. I don't want stuff out there. I think that could lead to more stuff. What, Sienna? I said it sucks. Yeah, having... Never mind. Oh, no. Oh, my gosh. That face that Sienna just had right now. No, I mean, you're... Absolutely. When there's someone else around, it sucks. Yeah. And you don't have to if you don't want to. But does your fiancé have friends that are the lady type? No, no. He doesn't talk to anyone like that. But he has, you know, an ex-wife who will always be there because they have a kid. But she's cool. Everything's cool. Yeah. Well, for me, too, there's a reason why they're an ex. Yeah, right. You know what I mean? There's a reason why they're an ex. And so, what is that smile? Why does a kid have such a sly little smile? I don't at all.
You're chewing on a... He's chewing... Quiet as he's been in three weeks. I know. He's thinking about something. He's sitting back twirling his chair. Just thinking about stuff. What is going on in there? Nothing. I was thinking about what Mikey was saying, and I think it does make sense that... I was thinking about... Let's go inside your head. I was thinking about... Let's go inside Woodsy's head right now. I was thinking about if my wife talked to any ex-boyfriends, and I'm sure she... No, you'd totally be fine with that. I don't think you would bother me. You're not weird or jealous, though, at all. And you're not normal. I'm jealous that you're not jealous. No, that's not... BS meter is going off. I really don't care if she does, because I know where she's coming home. I think he's telling the truth. I am. He's an honest guy. He would say if something bothered him. It doesn't bother me. She has an ex-husband. And if she was talking to her ex-husband, that would make me mad. You almost said something bad. That would make me mad. Why? Because there's a history. There's a history. It's hard. It's a hard thing. Isn't there history if you got an ex-boyfriend? Not like this. Not like a marriage, though, you know?
Well, there's levels. It's like, okay, did you date this person and you just kind of like went out and had some sodas? Okay. Did you date this person and it was six months and you said I love you? Okay. Did you date this person for five years and live with them and all that, you know? Let's say you dated the person for, give me a short amount of time. Three weeks. Okay. Okay. Three weeks. Okay, let's say three weeks. Let's say you dated the person for three weeks. If you dated him for three weeks, there was a reason. That you wanted to smooch him. Yeah. You know what the reason was? Probably. I'm just taking a guess here. Wild guess. Probably because you found him attractive. Right. But also, there was probably something about the personality that you were attracted to. You know, probably. Right? Not always. Not always. Three weeks, maybe not. Two months, yeah. Wait. You make out with somebody one night. It's probably something physical and there's not much more to it. You date somebody for three weeks, which is almost a month.
Yeah, I guess you're right. There was something there. I guess you're right. Okay. I don't agree. I don't agree at all. I don't think so either. Maybe you just haven't closed the deal yet, dude. Well, it depends. Okay. Okay. Okay. Wait, wait, wait, wait. I get it. All right. All right. You haven't closed the deal yet and you want to close the deal. Absolutely. Okay. You're working a hot lead. Okay. You're working a hot lead. For a guy, I understand. Okay. I get it. For a dude, you're trying to close the deal. I totally get it. For a girl, I think it's a little different. Yeah. For a girl, I don't think it's, I can't wait for him to have intercourse with me. I can't wait for him to have intercourse with me. Maybe. Maybe. No, sometimes you're just like hoping there's more beyond the surface than there actually is. Good point. You know? Maybe more comes out over the time. And you're like, you know, they're attractive and they're funny. Yeah. But he's kind of a jerk. Exactly. But I'm going to give him a little more time and see what he brings to the table. Maybe he's wealthy. What's he? Outside of your wife's ex-husband, what's the longest relationship she was in? Dude, I have no idea. Probably a couple of years. Okay. Let's say the guy's name is Jeff. Okay. The guy for a couple of years. And on Facebook, you see that the two of them are really chatty. I would make a...
Probably a smart-ass comment, but I wouldn't flip out about it. I don't flip out about things like that anymore. Okay, cool. So you make a comment, and she pacifies the comment with ha-ha-ha-ha, and then you see it continue. Sounds like her. She goes ha-ha-ha, and then you see it continue. Nothing. It's not going to drive me nuts. Okay, you wouldn't be that passive-aggressive. You would bring it up to Jamie. I'm a tit-for-tat guy, though. That's where you've got to watch out. Okay, so you would see it, and then you would go, okay, so now I've got to get back at you. Yeah, I'm a tit-for-tat guy. You do that? Well, then don't get mad at me when I do this. Exactly. Yeah, I guess so, too. Hey, if you get me, you're going to get gut right back. Write that down. Mark that. M1G is on the line. What up? How you guys doing? Good. Joe, loving it. Right on, brother. Thank you. Right on. Definitely got a good Joe going on there between you all. Thank you, man. Thank you.
I dated a girl for seven years. We actually knew each other when we were little kids. Met up again as we did for seven years. Love those stories. Had a lot of ups and downs, and then we broke up. And seven years ago, now, we've been broken up for seven years. We're still super great friends. Like, I draw my stuff out. You tell your best friend. Really? And you got a, are you married? I'm not married, but I'm in a committed relationship. And in the beginning of my committed relationship, I was very honest about it. My friendship with my girlfriend, a lot for me, and it's been a big part of my life, and, you know, we're just friends. How long have you been dating the person you're in the committed relationship with? Two years. Two years? And she's cool? Yeah, people, not everybody's psychotic, man. Did he say she is cool? Yeah, she's... She's not cool about it. She acted like she was cool in the beginning, but... You're never cool with it. Once you, like, fall in love, you're like, I don't think so. I'm that person now. You guys.
I mean, and M1G, this is the point that I'm making, okay? And by the way, I understand the setup, okay? And I am going to project on you a little bit. I'm going to take some of my own personal feelings and I'm going to project them on you. I'd be honored. Thank you. But here's what I think goes on. I only say this because I've been there. You have somebody. That is an emotional feminine napkin. Let me explain. I know, I know. That was the worst way you could have put that. Let me explain. Okay. Okay, let me explain. Now, hopefully kids didn't even understand. Oh, man. But let me explain. This is what that means. What it means is, is that let's say the person likes you. And you know that they like you. You would like to use them for that like.
What I mean by that is it feels really good when you like me and you know it. And so you don't want to let that go. And so when you're forming a new relationship with somebody that you really do like, you need to let them know that that emotional, we'll call it FN instead of saying it again, that that emotional FN is in your life and they're going to be in your life. And you need to let the person know right now, I'm not giving up. You know what a better way to put it? I'm not giving up my little. You know, safety. What's the little blanket? What do you call the blanket? You're not going to give up your whoopee because they're your little blanket. You're going to hold on to your little blanket and you're not going to. And usually when you're getting into a relationship, the person is excited about you. And so they go, oh, yeah, I'm totally cool with that. Yeah, I got no problems with that. And then they get to know you and they fall in love with you and they're in the relationship and they go, what's up with the whoopee? Yeah. I mean, you know. I'm supposed to be the person that you're giving, you know, like, what do you need that for? Which isn't right. Which isn't right? Which is right. I mean, I don't think that that's wrong. To have a person that is your whoopee? No, I think for the girl. For the girl. Like, in his situation, like, he's been with this girl two years. Like, that's a long time. That she's, like, get with the other girl. You know? Oh, yeah, she should be. She should be the whoopee now. Oh, you bet she should be. Yeah. You bet.
And here's my thing, too. It's like, okay, it would be naive to think that you meet somebody and they're not going to have a history. Everyone's been in other relationships. Absolutely. 100%. But once you, especially, like, this is what bothers me. If Matt won't open up to me, Matt, my boyfriend, if he won't open up to me about certain things and he had an ex that he was talking to, my... No, Matt, her boyfriend. My, like... insecurity level would rise to like why can't he talk to what's he talking to her about why can't he talk to me i'm supposed to be you know you're not insecure for thinking that lauren you're not you're not i'm not no you're not insecure lauren you're a human being that's what like the deal is is that if a guy is hanging on to an ex-girlfriend there's a reason yeah there's a reason and it isn't because they're just still chums okay if they dated a back burner It's a back burner. Here's the deal. It's just in case. If they are chums and all they've ever been is chums, then it's cool. Right, right, right. Exactly. To me, it depends on frequency. I mean, I talk to my ex in Chicago twice a year, three times a year maybe on Facebook. Not a big deal. Like, hey, how are your kids? They look beautiful. Yeah. You have a history with somebody. You've been through a lot of battles, you know, up and down.
In kind of your formidable years when you were kind of coming up and growing up, you guys went through college together, whatever. I don't have a problem with that. You want to check in on your exes? Have a ball. My exes. I bumped into my ex that I dated for two years in high school and right after at the 10-year reunion. Yeah. And she wanted to kill me. Really? It was 10 years later. I thought, hey, how you doing? Oh, man, look at you. Look who's here. You scarred her. Oh, juice box. She's the one who dumped me. Oh. But I was just, you know, I moved on. I was fine with it. But no. She said, you're still a worm. I was like, oh, that's pretty nice. Your wife said? This is my wife. His ex. Oh, the ex said that to you. Said you're still a worm. Whoa. Wow. At the 10-year reunion. Amazing. Weird. Lauren. I have a question. Yeah. Matt, I hope you're listening. Mm-hmm. What do you guys think about keeping in touch with the relatives of your exes? Oh. Yeah. Explain. Maybe we'll have to take a break and talk about it later. When we come back, I want to know what that means. This looks like a personal situation. Here's what my promise is. We will not discuss this off the air. I need to hear it fresh when we come back. This one's got me fascinated. Listening to The Mikey Show on FM 94.9.

You can text the Mikey Show 949Mikey at gmail.com. This text message says, hey guys, I just wanted to chime in on the dating thing, being friends thing. I think it depends on the person and if they can handle it emotionally. Some will be able to and some won't. Love the show, guys. M1MZ. If you notice the sarcasm in my voice there, it's only because it existed. And the reason that I read it sarcastically is because the notion that some people are...
Able to handle it, to me, is preposterous. It's not a matter of, quote unquote, being able to handle it. In fact, I would say that if you are, quote unquote, able to handle it, that's a symptom. It's a symptom like a runny nose. If you've got a runny nose and you're constantly wiping it, it's generally an indication that there's a cold. With itchy, watery eyes. It means that there's a cold. So there's a problem. That's just the symptom. If the symptom is, I don't care, or if the symptom is, I'm emotionally able to handle it, I think that's the symptom. Is that my phone? So you're talking about me? No, I'm talking about that guy that said he didn't care. And I'm also, well, no, I think I am. Yeah, you too. He's talking about me right now. Yeah, you too, I think, right? Yeah. If you don't care, it's a symptom. It's not that I don't care.
It's not that I don't care. It's not. It's not a deal breaker. We got bigger fish to fry. Okay. Than if she's talking to some dude she dated. Okay. Because here's the thing. Jamie and I split up quite a bit when we were dating, and I dated other women, and she dated other men. But Sunday morning, she'd be like, hey, I need a ride. Come pick me. Okay. And I'd come get her. I mean, we were always that person for each other. Always. What does that mean? It just means that. The go-to. The go-to. I mean, and we ended up getting married and, you know, we are a perfect puzzle piece. You know, she's my missing puzzle piece. It's very sweet. And, you know, I don't think it flips her out. She might make a little snide comment like, oh, I see so-and-so wrote on your wall on Facebook. And I'm like, I just look at her now these days. I'm like, really? After all we've been through, that's what you're worried about? You know, she does the same. You know, I think that this might be better, honestly. I saw that so-and-so wrote on your Facebook. Yeah, they did. Yeah, you know, that kind of bothers me. Yeah, why not? That's what I would say. And if my wife said, you know, git, I'd say, ooh, well. Maybe I will. Now we need to have a conversation, don't we? So, Lauren, explain what you were talking about. What do you mean? Well.
I will lead in with a specific, but this applies to generalities. After you break up with somebody, even if you were close with their family, I think that that encompasses the breakup. That's why breakups can sometimes be more painful than others, because you may have been really attached to their family and really liked them, but you're now broken up. You don't get to continue communication, in my opinion. With, like, your ex-girlfriend's mother, for instance. For instance. Uh-oh. Just a random for instance. Just a specific for instance. So you didn't pluck this out of the sky, then? No. I mean, and I talked to Matt about it, and he doesn't agree with me. I mean, he respects me, so he is not keeping that line of communication open anymore. And I kind of feel bad about it. Because he doesn't see anything wrong with it, yet he's doing it for me. But I would like to get the opinion of three other people who just told me I wasn't insecure on the last break. No, you are not insecure on the last part. Okay. On the last part? No, no, no. I want to say, I don't think it makes you insecure if you didn't want him talking to his ex's mom. I don't think that makes you insecure. He never talked to his ex-girlfriend? What's that? Only his mom?
No, he would randomly talk to her, but not in like a, hey, let's send long emails back and forth to each other. But with her mom, yes. I don't see a problem with it. What? I really don't. My dad told me, this was before Todd and I got engaged, he was like, look, Sienna, I'm just going to tell you this right now. He was like, if something happens between you and Todd, I'm keeping that guy in my life. And I said, great, it's fine. My parents feel the same way about Jamie. The exact same. I mean, Jamie lost her parents. So my parents are her parents. Well, that's a little different. Because you're married. Well, yeah, but if something happened to me or us, they would always talk. I guarantee you. I mean, we had a discussion last week about people calling each other mom and dad. This was a relationship where he was in high school. And it was one of those things like, you know, I was over her house all the time. It was she. is a friend of the family. Am I supposed to just cut that person out of my life? Yeah, that would annoy me for sure. And I said, sorry, but yes. You're not in high school anymore. Grow up, Peter Pan. Grow up, Peter Pan. See, I'm a big believer in the feeling thing, and I'm not so much a believer in the telling thing. This is what I mean by that. I'm a big believer in telling somebody how you feel, not so much a believer in telling people what they need to do.
Yeah, and I don't know if I posed it that way or not. I'm sure he would have, he would probably have a different point of view than I do on it. But I was kind of like, I can't believe you do that. That makes me feel this way or whatever. Maybe I didn't pose it so eloquently. Maybe I said, I can't believe it. Let's do this. Listen to an excerpt from 48 Hours Live to Tell. Kidnapped on my birthday. The guy in front of me starts talking. What's your name? Stanley. Stanley, let me tell you what we're going to do. We're going to take you to the cash machine, and we're going to get your money. And if you f*** with us, we will kill you. That guy was named Lucky. The toughest thug was called Sen. He was across from me to the right, almost by accident. I didn't want to. I looked at him. Our eyes met, and Sen stuck his pistol in my face.
And he screamed at me, he's got big eyes. I should kill you for those big eyes. The guy on my right, his name was Wren. Wren seemed to be more of a henchman. He seemed to be the one who would just do what they told him. Believable story. 48 hours live to tell, and Stanley is on the line with us right now. Stanley, are you there? Hey, Mikey, how are you? I'm good. How are you doing? Very good. Listen, your story is incredible. If people have never seen it, you know, you can download TV shows on iTunes now, and it is available on iTunes if you want to see it. I saw it when the show was on, but since then was so riveted by it that I've downloaded it on iTunes. And you also have a book out about your experience, correct? Yeah, you got to read it. What's the name of the book? It's called The Birthday Party because I got kidnapped on my birthday.
Now, this was your 38th birthday? That's right. You were turning 38 years old. And were your friends expecting you that night? Yeah, you know, I was a federal prosecutor. Some of my friends from the office, plus some other friends, were meeting down in a concert hall in the village to see one of my favorite guitarists. And, you know, they'd look for me all day at work, and I wasn't at work. And then I don't show up for my own birthday party, and they were really scared. What was the process when you didn't show up that night? What did they do next? So for a while, they start calling everybody that they think might know where I am, and they're hitting a dead end. So they finally decide to go over to my apartment where they think they might find me bludgeoned in my bedroom because they don't know what to think as to why I'm missing for so long. Plus, you're a federal prosecutor. Yeah. You know what? Typically, the bad guys don't come after us. Okay. It's way too scary for them. You touch one of us, you'll have the FBI so far up your you-know-what that you're in a lot of trouble. So there's not much of that. And my main thing was environmental. So most of my guys wore suits. Got it. You know, they weren't really... I mean, sometimes you hear about one of these corporations killing somebody, but it's very rare. So they go to your apartment, and is it one, two of your friends? How many friends go there? Oh, I think about... I think...
About six of them showed up at the apartment. Wow. And they actually got the super, and he was real upset because somebody else in the building had committed suicide a couple of weeks earlier, and he had to find it. And he's thinking, wow, Stanley was a nice guy. Why'd you have to do it? Right, right, right. And so he lets them into your apartment. He breaks in because he doesn't have the key. You know, it's New York. Right, right. And they run around my apartment thinking they're going to find... You know, maybe they're going to find me. And then they look around. They see I'm not there. And, you know, that's kind of good news because I haven't been bludgeoned in my apartment. And then they see my answering machine going off. So somebody plays it. You know, there's a couple of mundane messages. People are calling. My mother's calling. Happy birthday, Stanley, you know. And then they hear two bone-chilling messages. One is from the bank. We got unusual activity on your cash machine card. The other is from some woman who found my credit card sitting on the street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at 7 that morning. It's now 10 o'clock at night. And my tough prosecutor friends, including one guy who busted a lot of mob guys, sat down on the couch and started crying. Oh, my goodness. They thought I was done. Oh, my goodness. So let's go back to the night before when you were actually kidnapped. You were kidnapped.
while you were at an ATM or how were you kidnapped? You know, it's not the kind of thing you think is going to happen. I'm having a perfectly good night. I was out and about. I met a young lady on the subway, walked her home, and then I'm walking down the street. It was a very cold winter New York night when barely anybody's out. And suddenly from out of nowhere, felt the tug on my elbow, spun around, an automatic machine gun in my gut, two guys behind me. shoved me into the street, put me in the car, and that's when they took me to the cash machine. Now, did these guys have masks on or were you able to see their face? So the deal was they didn't have masks and I, you know, I kind of caught their faces a little bit and then, you know, in the car I was purposely looking down so that they wouldn't think that I was trying to identify them. Now, knowing what you know about criminals and about criminal activity, it had to scare you. to know that you did see their face. It had to make you think, they're not going to let me live. I looked at them. I never should have gotten that car, Mikey. Yeah. You know, I mean, the guys at the NYPD told me I shouldn't second guess myself because, you know, I somehow managed to come out alive and not get hurt. But I shouldn't have gotten that car. You don't get in the car. It's over. You get in the car, it's over. So even now, years later, this was 1998. So even in 2010,
all these years later, 12 years later, would you say to people if they were in the same situation, run for it, try to run for it, that kind of thing? Or what would you say? Definitely run for it. Don't get in the car. You're done if you get in the car. Now, there's occasional cases where people make it out alive, but they're occasional. You ask the FBI, you ask the NYPD, they will tell you these things don't end well. Right. We are talking to Stanley Alpert. and he was on the TV show 48 Hours Live to Tell and was kidnapped the night before his 38th birthday, federal prosecutor. So where do they take you? So, you know, they check out that I've got a lot of money in savings. So they say, oh, we've got to keep this guy and try to get it. So they blindfold me with my own scarf, shoved me down in the back seat next to one of the thugs. and drive me out to an apartment somewhere on the Brooklyn-Queens border. I don't quite know. I mean, now I know, but I didn't know then. And this was their crash pad. The leader of the gang was running a prostitution ring. He had three young girls working for him. He had his thugs with him who protected his prostitution ring on the street. And this was their place. He rented the place from another guy. This was their place to crash. This was their place to spend time when they weren't on the street.
Do you remember the car ride over there? Do you remember trying to acclimate yourself to the direction that you were driving? Anything like that? I do. And, you know, I lived in New York long enough that I knew from the sound. I knew when we were driving in the tunnel that goes down near the Statue of Liberty. And I knew that we were going over one of the East River bridges because you can hear the metal on the tires as a car goes over it. But then once we got into Brooklyn, I couldn't tell which direction. The BQE there goes both ways, either east or west. What is that BQE? That's the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, you know, one of those beat up old New York highways. And, you know, and in fact, the leader of the gang asked me if I'd ever been on the BQE. And, of course, I had. I grew up in Brooklyn. I worked at the U.S. Attorneys in Brooklyn. So but I didn't know which way we were going. And, you know, I just kind of had a rough estimate of where we might be. Stanley, did they ask you what you did for a living at any point? So we get to the cash machine, and I tell them what I've got in my savings account, and they're impressed. They're like, wow, what do you do for a living? So I say, well, you really kind of picked up the wrong guy. I'm an assistant U.S. attorney. You know, and I purposely didn't use the prosecutor word because, you know, I could have got...
whacked for that. But the thing is, I couldn't lie because my business card was in my wallet. And Stanley, were you that, you know, like as you tell the story, you sound, for lack of a better word, nice. When you were talking to them, you know, you're very engaging, very charming, very articulate. When you were talking to them, was your voice shaking or were you this calm and articulate? You know, there was parts of this thing where I was as nervous as I've ever been in my life. They kept threatening to kill me and blast their gun through my head and my brains would be all over the wall. And they told me they would murder my father if I failed to cooperate with them. But you know what? Every one of us has a survival instinct. You can read stories about guys who go up a mountain and get their foot stuck in a hole and do things you never thought any human being could do. So under that pressure, I was calm. And what I did was I kept quiet until spoken to, but when they spoke to me and they wanted me to respond, I was very polite, very nice, totally cooperative. And that's what you got to do when somebody's holding a gun at your head. They ever physically harm you? Thank God I remained untouched. They actually bought duct tape to tie me up, and I was so calm that they didn't use it. So thank God I wasn't touched. I'm not sure I'd be talking to you right now if I'd gotten beat up or anything else worse happened. What's the story?
With the hookers. So the leader of the gang was a successful young businessman. He had a regular job, and he was in college, and he had a fiancé, and he was running a prostitution ring. Wow. He's doing better than me. He's driving a much nicer car than I ever had. Right. So they come back to the apartment after I've been there a while, and they're like, They're yelling at the guys. They're like, what did you pick up here? And then what happens is I'm blindfolded, but I can hear them. They're starting to calm down. They're smoking marijuana, which calms them down. And then they start having sexual relations with the girl. And I can hear all this, but luckily I can't see it because I'm blindfolded. Right. And then they started asking me, well, where would you be today if we hadn't picked you up? Yeah, it's okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't worry. I hit the button on you. They said, oh, shoot. I left out the other word that got bleeped on CBS. And then they're like, oh, you deserve something nice for your birthday. These girls are nice. How about a you-know-what? Right. So, you know, it's funny now.
But at the time, it was absolutely petrifying. I couldn't afford to be violated that way. Right. Everybody thinks, oh, you're not a real man. You didn't want to get that. But guess what? When you've got a gun in your head, you don't want that. I don't care how many guys are laughing at me right now. Right. Hey, I get it. Yeah, absolutely. And so how long were you actually there, Stanley? 25 hours. 25 hours. Did they feed you? Yeah, they did. At first I said no because I thought they drug it. But, you know, after I was there for, you know, 14 hours, I was hungry. And I realized if I didn't eat something, I wouldn't be able to make it. So I finally ate something. What did they feed you? Well, this is pretty funny because they offered to get me a ham and cheese. And I'm Jewish. I don't eat that. Did you tell them, hey, I don't eat that? No, I just asked them to get me a turkey, which they did. And they did. And they did. And they were using their names, you know, their sort of slang names in front of you. They were ran and lucky, right? Yeah, the thing is they all use their street names. And the thing is, you know, police techniques in New York, and you guys have got it out there, too. I mean, I know particularly about L.A., what's going on out there. But, you know, some of these police databases now are very advanced. So they've got the street names of hookers and drug users in a database.
So, you know, when I got out, that stuff went into that database and they started picking up the, you know, the info on the prostitutes. We're talking to Stanley Alpert, who is on the TV show 48 Hours Live to Tell. He was kidnapped night before his 38th birthday. He was taken. He had an automatic machine gun stuck in his face, put into a car, taken to a place in Brooklyn. And the plan was to take $50,000 from you from your bank account. How did they? plan on doing that, Stanley? They were going to drive me to the bank in the morning and force me at gunpoint to go in and get the money, and they were going to kill me, and they were going to murder my father if I didn't do it. And as the night went on, they're talking to each other. You know, I'm sitting there listening to this, and they're saying, you know, this isn't going to work. It's not going to look right. We drive up to the bank with this guy and take out all his cash. Let's drop that plan, and let's just, you know, we got some money off him. Let's let him go. And then they ended up holding me for the full 25 so they could get a couple more hits on my cash machine card and so they could use my credit cards while they were holding me because they knew if they let me go, I would cancel them. Wow. And so at what point does this thing end for you? So you got to read the book to get the full flavor of what it feels like when you're absolutely sure you're about to get shot.
I try to describe that for people. It's a pretty sickening feeling. But after they didn't shoot me, they actually dropped me off in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, gave me $20 to take a cab. Of course, it was my own money. Yeah, yeah. Now, I wasn't going to spend that money, and it's not that I want to save money on a cab. It's that there might have been fingerprints on that. Dude, so smart. Dude, so smart, man. And so what did you do? I ran to a pizza place. The guy looked at me like I was crazy. I said, can I use your phone? I was kidnapped. He didn't want to do it. You know, this is New York. People aren't nice like out in San Diego. OK, so but eventually let me use the phone. I went to call my father. I wanted to see if he was in trouble because, you know, they threatened to kill him. I thought they might have a guy on him. And I finally got through to him. And he told me to call my apartment where the FBI and the NYPD had already set up a crime scene. They were walking around my apartment calling me the body. And my friends were hearing that. Oh, my gosh. Wow. Can you imagine your friend is gone? They're referring to him as the body. Wow. And they don't know you're alive. You've been taken and held hostage for 25 hours. You're in a pizza joint. What happens? Yeah, so.
Like I said, I got through to my apartment. I get this FBI agent. At first, he's not even believing it's me. And then they came and drove out and picked me up out there. And, you know, I was a mess. I'd been 25 hours in the same clothes, without a shower, stubble, the whole bit. I was a mess. I looked like junk. Yeah. When they got me. But you were alive. What did it feel like when that, I guess, blindfold came off of you? and you realize that you're alive and they're gone, what's that feel like? You know what, Mikey? That was the happiest moment of my life. I bet. Because you know what? We all want to cling to life. We all think we're going to live forever. We're not. I know that the hard way now. But we cling to life. And, you know, I want to see how my life turns out. And I almost didn't get the chance. Tell us the name of the book again if people want to get the book. It's called The Birthday Party. My website's stanleyalpert.com. And I really appreciate you having me on. Yeah, absolutely, Stanley. And interesting story. Great show. And we really appreciate you coming on with us. Hey, by the way, the guys, that's the big question. Wren, Lucky, did they get caught? Oh, well, I had so many clues. My clues were so intense and my story was so ridiculous that the Bureau and the NYPD didn't believe me. But 48 hours later, they rounded them up.
Those guys are upstate for a really long time. Oh, wow. That is a good thing. Yeah, you know what? Besides me, they would have killed somebody right away. Yep. Absolutely. Absolutely. Thank you so much, Stanley. We appreciate it, and we appreciate the story. Thank you. We'll see you. Awesome. Incredible story, man. And you can get the book. You can see it online. Really an incredible deal. Be watching it today. Yeah, dude. It's awesome. How long is your commute? You're driving right now. How long is your commute? Is it long? Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. You know, I think I've had about enough of your guys' short jokes. Easy, short stack. Yeah, that's pretty funny, boss. I want to call you short stack. Hey, boss, maybe you can wear your really short suspenders with it. He got you. He got me, Ted. I got you. He got me. You want to send a text to help out Rady Children's Hospital? How awesome is that? And if you want to, you could also donate five bucks by texting Rady, R-A-D-Y, to 85944. And really, really cool. Oh, man. It smells so good in here. It does, right? Delicious. Okay, so, Sienna, how far does Dude in Wisconsin commute? 1,000 miles. What? Each way? Let me just say, he does it once a week. This man named Michael Hanley, he's 48 years old. He lives in Janesville, Wisconsin. He was working at a General Motors plant for like 23 years. And they moved. The plant moved. And because it's so hard to get a job, he couldn't get a job anywhere else. So he went with the company all the way to Kansas. Whoa. So it says he, during his drive, he zips into Missouri. He then heads up a ribbon of highway past grains and grazing deer across from frozen fields of Iowa and then over the Mississippi until he gets back to Wisconsin where his family and three kids are, his wife and three kids. And he has, you know, two kids in college he has to pay for, a kid with braces. He's just, he does it. Dude, you would think it would be just as cheap to fly. Right. Maybe move your family. Yeah.
That's a consideration. Maybe he doesn't want to move them out of, like, their current school systems and stuff. You know what? So he pays rent. Yeah, he pays rent on top of that. He has to sleep somewhere during the week. Maybe go home, tell the old lady, listen, it's time to pack. It's not easy to just pick up and sell your house, though. Really? You're talking to the guy that loaded his car and came cross-country. You haven't sold your house yet. Yeah, but you do what you got to do. You do what you got to do, right? That's crazy. That would drive me insane. His gas per week costs $180. Oh, that's not that bad. That's not that bad. But he pays rent and all that, too. That's crazy. He gets to retire in 18 months, and then he'll be done, which is why I think he didn't move his family. I can do it for a little while. That's cool, then. On the phone with me right now is staff writer for the Union Tribune, Kevin Acey. Are you there, Kevin? Hey, Mikey. How are you? I'm good, man. You had a busy day yesterday. Filled in a lot of interviews about what we're going to talk to you about this morning. But LT, what is it, nine seasons here in San Diego? Yep, nine seasons and done. Even though, you know what, even though it was expected. I mean, there was no question this was going to happen for months, and especially over the last month.
to have it be done, to be there and talk to Dean Spanos, talk to A.J. Smith, talk to other players, and know that it really is done. This guy, I mean, I think that there's a term, end of the era, that's thrown around too much. You know, this is the end of the Joe Schmo era. Well, I mean, so what? But the end of the LaDainian-Thomason era, I mean, that truly is changing times for the Chargers and for San Diego. Have you had a chance to talk to LT yet? I have not. I think that he's staying pretty underground until tomorrow when he has a press conference. I think that that's going to be the big bang. Had talked to him before, and there was a thought that this wasn't going to happen this soon, but he requested that when the Chargers made up their mind that sooner rather than later, he wants to find another job. Why drag this out? And the Chargers... decided out of respect to LT to do that, to let him go yesterday. Woodsy. Yeah, hey, Kevin, it's Woodsy. Did this have obviously a lot to do with the fact that they owed him $2 million next week? Well, yes and no. I saw this described as a money move, and it wasn't. Other than that you don't pay that much money, which was going to be $5 million total. You don't pay that much money to a running back who, you know.
His skills have diminished. In the twilight. Like a little sacrilege, but it's just a fact. It happens to everybody. But, yeah, as of the 5th of March, they would have owed him $2 million. It's a roster bonus. Roster bonus. If he's on the roster March 5th, the first day of the new NFL league year. Don't ask me why. That's the first day of the new league. Then he's owed $2 million. Anyway, he's going to get $1 million out of this. They renegotiated his contract a year ago in March. And out of that came a $5 million salary. $2 million of that was this roster bonus. And $1 million was guaranteed even if, you know, he got run over by a truck. Wow. $1 million, essentially a $1 million buyout to say goodbye to LT. Sure. Wow. Man. We're talking to Kevin Acey, who's a staff writer for the San Diego Union Tribune. And Kevin, what do you think is next for the Chargers? What direction do they go? Well, you know, this was coming, and everybody is kind of, I don't want to say excited, but it is time to see what the next chapter is. And they've got all these weapons, you know, on offense, all these receivers. And I think those guys will be back, though, you know, we would have to take a whole show to talk about the complexities of the offseason for the NFL and the Chargers. So Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, Antonio Gates, I think all those guys will be back.
Gates will for sure. I don't want to alarm anybody. All of a sudden, what? He'll be back. There's a chance Jackson Floyd would be gone. You've got some young guys. They're going to come up. Running back, I believe they're going to go in the draft. Yes, they have been looking to trade some guys and maybe pick up an established running back. But, as evidenced by LaDainian Tomlinson, you don't want a running back with too much mileage on him. So I really think that their general manager, A.J. Smith, he likes to go through the draft to build his team. You can get a running back in the draft, a good one. Problem is, next year, guys, this window, I'm sure you've heard about this, this window that the Chargers have of opportunity to win the Super Bowl with the current players they have is diminishing every year because everyone gets a little bit older, right? And so they need a running back that's going to contribute. Next year, and rookie running backs, guys you take in the draft, their first year, it's rare that they are game-changers, difference-makers. Now, LT was on a bad team, and so I think, though, that they can find a kid in the draft to help them, you know, in 2010, you know, at least get to the playoffs again, and then really, we shouldn't really even start talking about the Chargers until January anymore.
Anybody out there that you like that you think would be a good fit? I mean, I had heard some rumors about Cromartie being traded. Who do you like? The only trade that I've heard that makes sense, and I can't absolutely confirm that Chargers have been interested in this. I'll tell you what, I'm headed to the combine tomorrow, which is where all the teams go to look at these draftable kids. And it's also where a whole bunch of wheeling and dealing is done now. And it's kind of off the record, wheeling and dealing, because not until March 5th can you officially do that. But everyone knows that everyone is there, agents, managers, coaches. And there's a lot of talk that goes on there. There's a couple running backs in Carolina. The Carolina Panthers have a couple running backs. And there's a guy named D'Angelo Williams. And that's a guy who makes sense. He's 26, something like that. He's been in the league three years. Not a whole heck of a lot of mileage on him. And that's the only trade that makes sense to me. Other than that, there's a couple guys in the draft. And I got to tell you, I put off my draft prep as long as possible. So names, I'm not into it until Friday when I'm actually at the combine talking to running backs and talking to scouts and all that.
It's the stupid freaking draft. I hate the draft. Hey, what's up with the draft, Kevin? Changing now, for those of you that are into it, and I am. I am too. The draft usually starts on Saturday morning. Out here on the West Coast, it would start at 9 o'clock in the morning. Then it changed. They pushed it back. It started at noon, which I didn't like. First day of the draft, real exciting. Now, I'm not even going to get to watch it because it's now on a school night, and I've got to go to bed at 6 o'clock at night. I wondered about that. I figured you went to bed pretty early. Dude, I got to bed at 6 p.m. because I get up between 1.30 and 2. And so what's the deal? They're going to change the draft now to a Thursday night is when it starts? Really? Yeah. Because not everybody hosts a morning radio show. They should cater it to me. There are a bunch of geeks like you that do love the draft so much that, hey, let's take it prime time. And I'm assuming you sell commercials for more. I'm assuming, you know, that more people watch it because maybe some people on a Saturday have other things to do. Hey, the draft is very exciting. I know the fans will love it. And that's why they're going to Thursday, Friday, Saturday, going to drag this thing out even longer. Here's what I don't like about the draft. Every single year, oh, here's a can't-miss prospect. Or, hey, this guy sucks or whatever. And, yes.
You know, guys are right sometimes. He was a can't-miss prospect. You know what? Just as often they're wrong. We don't know. I prefer to cover the LTs and the Rivers and the Gates, the guys who have done it, and say, hey, you know, there was a day where people didn't even talk to rookies because you had to prove yourself in the league. And I don't mean to be, like, old school and everything. But I'm just, you know, to get all excited about these kids that haven't done a thing in the league. And they get, oh, my gosh, what about the money that these rookies get? based on potential. It just kind of bugs me. Thank you for giving me the platform. Yeah, absolutely. Kevin Acey is a staff writer for the Union Tribune. Okay, so Kevin, what about Merriman? What's the status with Merriman? Do they have enough money to keep him, and is he going to be healthy enough to contribute? What do you think is going on there? Interesting questions, and it's one of the most intriguing parts of this offseason. I know we're on FM radio here. I'm usually talking to sports. All sports fans here. Let's take it real rudimentary. He's a restricted free agent as opposed to an unrestricted free agent. To put it simply, there's a lot of uncertainty with the NFL labor situation and what they call the collective bargaining agreement. So anyway, Sean is among a handful of players on the Chargers, big-time players, Marcus McNeil, Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd, Darren Sproles.
They were going to be unrestricted, which means they could go to any team they wanted to go to. But now they're restricted, which means essentially they're still tied to the Chargers. They're free agents. Other teams can come and get them and sign them to contracts. But those teams that signed, let's say, a Sean Merriman would have to give the Chargers compensation in the form of graphics. And the Chargers will put a tender sometime next week on Sean Merriman that is either like a first-round tender or a second round or a first and a third. And if a team signs them, whatever tender the Chargers put on them, the team has to give the Chargers. Now, they can negotiate that, and if they put a first round, they can say, hey, can we give you a first round next year or two seconds or something like that. But it really is costly for another team to sign a restricted free agent. How costly is it? Nobody did it last year. No restricted free agents changed hands with the teams last year. Fascinating to me because I have written for almost two years now, Sean Merriman has no long-term future here. When it is that he does become an unrestricted free agent, the Chargers are going to give him a little pat on the bottom and say, thanks, Sean, see you later. So I think they're going to keep him this year, but what's the tender they put on him? Did they put a third-round tender, hoping that another team comes and gets him? I don't think so. I think they put a first-round tender on him and that he's a Charger in 2010. As for your question about his health,
Second season after an operation like the one he had, that a guy does come back healthy. I've known Sean since the week after they drafted him. And everything, I believe this guy, until this last year, everything this guy said came true. He said he was going to get 10 sacks. He got 10 sacks. Said he was going to get 16. He got 16. Said he was going to light up a quarterback. He lit up a quarterback. I believe Sean will come back healthy in 2010. I'll tell you what, it's a legitimate question as to, you know, will he come back healthy? And is he going to be worth, you know, a big contract in the future? Hey, Kevin AC, it's always a pleasure to talk to you, man. It's great. You do great radio, dude. You really do. And we appreciate you coming on, man. Right on. You guys take care. All right, man. That's Kevin AC. He's good, man. I love reading his stuff. And I love talking to him. Guy knows what's up. And, yeah, I'll tell you what, man. Today is probably the biggest Charger news that there has been in years. The fact that we are saying goodbye to LT is crazy. Oh, dude. I mean, to most people, one way or another, LT has had some kind of an impact on you if you live in San Diego. Just from what you've heard of him and what he does. Sienna said it earlier. It's sad.
It's sad. It makes people feel sad. I mean, we've known this guy to be here for so long, and we love him. And it's tough to see guys like that go. He's one of the good guys, and I dig him, and it's tough. And then the deal with Merriman, that's interesting, man. He says that Merriman, he thinks he's going to be back, which I didn't. And it sounds like he's going to, and, you know, that's some excitement for the team. You know what I'm saying? He's been hitting the workouts pretty hard, man, if you follow him on Twitter. Yeah. He's on his way to a workout right now. Making it happen. We are officially in a new era because when I tell you who is twittering, you're going to be shocked by it. It's crazy. It's coming up next. Sienna and I were just talking about her getting married on Saturday. Yeah, it's supposed to rain. 50% chance. Good luck. Whatever. I'm not going to let it ruin my day. Positive thinking. You know, they say that rain is a sign of good luck. That's right. There you go. They do? They do, homie. They do. Check it out on they.com. Yeah. They say that. They say it. Okay. Guess who's twittering? Sienna?
Come on, I want to take guesses. Yeah, take guesses. Think of somebody that you would, an older person, that you would go, no. Betty White. Betty White is... GW. She probably is tweeting, but she's not the story. Because I think she's kind of hip now, right? No? She broke her hip? She's like, just got my hair did. That's right. Got fluffed. You got any guesses? I said GW. Betty White. What about you? I said GW. GW? He doesn't know how to turn a computer on. You know that. You ready for this? Who is it? Well, there were rumors that this person was tweeting earlier this month, but they were only rumors. But now it is official. The Dalai Lama is on Twitter. Are you serious? He opened up an account yesterday. That's crazy. It is a, quote, verified account, which apparently, according to Jesse, who's on in the morning, says. That that's like how you know it's legit. Whoa. Yeah. Yeah, it is. It was opened yesterday. And even the president of Twitter like sent a message welcoming the Dalai Lama. They did a meet and greet. You got to be a big person to get a special message from the president. It's cookies. Yeah. What's on the what's on the what do you call it list? You know, the thing that they have that you got to have backstage for me. The writer.
Oh, yeah. The rider. Yeah, what's on the rider for the Dalai Lama? Green M&M's. Green M&M's. Jack Daniel's. Mm-hmm. Yeah, four bottles. Four bottles. One of them cold. Honey roasted peanuts. Marlboro Reds. Marlboro Reds. One pack of Marlboro Lights. Yes. I'd say kombucha is definitely. Kombucha, yes. Kombucha is definitely. Several robes. Yes. Several. Several robes. Kimonos. In several different sizes. Wow. Moccasins. Moccasins. DVD of Silence of the Lambs. I've done those writers before with an old job, and there's crazy stuff. I've always wanted to make a writer. I did it for Eminem. You did? What was on his writer? What was on his writer? I don't remember. It was a lot of booze, and I just remember it was like wings and all kinds of stuff. It was when he and 50 Cent came. They were on tour together, and I was working catering, and I got the rooms ready. Oh, that's killer. We had a writer for the Foo Fighters. Wow.
Yeah. Love the Foo Fighters. What was on there? I remember everything that was on it. Let's hear it. One thing. What? Budweiser. Coors Light. Huge. Really? That's the greatest writer ever. Usually they're pages long. They're so cool. That's what he wanted. They're cool. Foo Fighters wanted Coors Light. It's amazing. Yeah. I think they're the people's people. I met Dave Grohl. Grohl. Grohl. Grohl. Yeah. In L.A. at a club. And he was just like, after he finished playing, just hanging out. Really? Amongst the people. Did you say hi to them? Yeah. That's awesome. Of course. I met Taylor Hawkins, their drummer, in a gas station with my wife, and I introduced them, and she started crying. What? Yeah, she loves him. Wow. She started to cry? She started to cry, and she was 35 at the time. He's one of the nastiest drummers out there. He's pretty good. And by nasty, I mean good. Good nasty. Mm-hmm. Great band. Yeah, they're the best. They are. Have you ever heard this song by the Foo Fighters? This song. It's the best. Yeah, this song, like, is in my bones. Mine, too. Love it. Aurora. In fact, I remember the first time I heard this song, and I was dating this girl, and I played her the song, and she didn't like it, and I'm not kidding you. Absolutely. And the reason I didn't like her is I thought to myself, if you don't like this song, how could we ever? Never, yeah. How could we? How? Not going to work. There's no way it's going to work. God, it's such a good tune. That's how I feel about their Everlong.
Like if you don't like Everlong, who are you? Yeah. How can you not like Everlong? It's weird. You would want to not even be a roommate with somebody. You're like, there's no way we can live together. I can't work in this environment. I can't work in this environment. Okay. So there was one thing I wanted to tell you. The other thing that I wanted to talk to you about. Oh, I had a few things. Okay, so check this out. Apparently, Tiger Woods' apology that he did. was rated uh very high among celebrities right Sienna what does that mean well um this was tested by HCD research and they tested over 1100 people and they all voted on which celebrity apology was the most sincere and you know the public liked it and you know was pleased after it and the people on the list let me just tell you and you tell me who you think got first okay
We have John Mayer's apology for Playboy, which was, you know, last week. Jamie Grubb's apology to Tiger Woods' wife. That was one of the mistresses. Okay. David Letterman's apology about the Sarah Palin's daughter joke. Remember that? Yep. South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford's apology for his affair. Right. David Letterman's sex scandal confession. Right. Tiger Woods' apology for his multiple affairs. Right. And Chris Brown for assaulting Rihanna. He's last. I say Dave Letterman sex scandal. You think that's the number one? Yeah. That's the number three. Chris Brown dead last. Chris Brown is not dead last. Shocking. Chris Brown is actually number one. Are you kidding me? There's no way. Number one. There's no way. That's what I think. But it got 17.2%, which is a lot greater than the number two person. That was Tiger Woods with 7.9%. Really? Yeah. By my record, girl. I'm sorry. Wait, is that JT? Yeah, who is that? Yo, this is Chris Brown. That's Chris Brown? Because for a second you sounded like Justin Timberlake. Dog, this is Justin Timberlake, dog. That's totally different. Yeah, Justin, you're totally different. What's up? What's up, Mike? I'm just saying, hey, what's up, dude? I ain't never had to apologize for nothing. Yeah, that's right. That sounds more like Chris Brown. You keep your nose clean is what you're saying, right? As far as you know. Yeah, as far as I know. That's Justin Timberlake.
So, yeah, Chris Brown's is number one, Tiger Woods, Letterman's sex scandal, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, Letterman's apology to Sarah Palin's daughter, Jamie Grubbs, and then John Mayer's was dead last. This would be a good gauge of how old everyone is in the room. Oh, man. Who remembers Captain EO? Sienna does. She's the youngest in here. That's because my mom used to take my brother and I to Disneyland like once a week when we were like. Okay. No idea who he is. We took the train. Lauren, you don't know. Nope. What's he? You don't know. I know ELO. ELO's a band. Yeah. Jay, do you remember Captain EO? No. Captain EO was this thing at Disneyland with Michael Jackson in it. It was like, you know, yeah, it was like, it's real cheesy, man. Like, if you go to YouTube and you YouTube it, Captain EO, real cheesy. It had special effects like lasers and smoke. Yeah. Did you get Jesus juice there? No. No? Creepy. Was it modeled after that video where he sings, leave me alone, leave me alone? No, no, no. Remember that video? Yeah, I do, but this was pre that. Oh. I mean, this was like, yeah, this was like 1983? 86, I think, is when it came around.
And it was there for a while. But now it's the honey, I shrunk the audience thing. It's been there for so long, though. Like, really? That every time? I've never been to Disneyland. You haven't? I've been to Disney World in Florida, but never Disneyland. I went for the first time. I went there when I was 12. But we just took Jake, my three-year-old son. And we got into an argument. At Disneyland? You and Jake did? Rebecca and I did. Oh, I was like, oh, poor Jake's probably having a great time. No, but Michael Jackson's Captain EO is coming back to Disneyland. It's been gone for, let's see, it says that the original ran at Disneyland from 86 to 97. So it had a good run, but now it's coming back. However, I'm disappointed because they're not going to have the lasers and the smoke and the special effects. And the woman that works for Disney would not reveal why. And she wouldn't go into any more details. But we do know that Michael Jackson's show is coming back. Yeah. You know, I like, you know the thing? I like Disneyland and everything. I thought the rides were kind of creepy for little kids. Creepy? Yeah, scary, man. Scary? Yeah. Jake loved them. He loved them. He loved them. He loved them. Rebecca told me all about it. He loved the Matterhorn, right? Yeah, that's a pretty hardcore ride for little kids. Way hardcore. Way hardcore. But, like, other stuff, like the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Do you remember that, Sienna? I loved it. Dude, it's all creepy with people like skeletons all nailed to the wall. Yeah. But they're with their mom and dad. It's okay. He was okay because he was with me and mom and everything. But I was like, I go, what happens if he freaks out halfway through here? What do you do? What are you going to do? You cover his face. You eat about $600. Yeah. Once you do it, go home. For sure. I've always wanted to eat in that restaurant at the Pirates of the Caribbean. Yeah, it's cool, right? Let's do it, man. Show field trip. Blue Bayou. You have to make reservations like months in advance. Crazy. But you know what I did do? What? This is a big. deal. What? There, now I can't even remember what it's called, but there's like an exclusive hidden restaurant in Disneyland that you have like, there's like a secret door. No one even knows about it. It's something 13. My mom would know. Call mom. Really? Yeah, and we got to do it. You only members can go and they don't let new members in anymore. It's closed off. I love that it's so secret and Sienna is blowing the lid on this thing. It's like the Augusta where they have the masters. It's not that secret. People that are like...
true to Disneyland. They know about this place and they try to find it. You went there? I went there and I had dinner there. Was it good? It's delicious. I'm going to Google it. That's cool. Mm-hmm. Jay is saying Chris is on the line and has good news. Chris, are you there? How's it going, Mikey? Good. Yesterday, we talked to my friend Chris because I'm going to be golfing. I'm going to take four lessons. I'm going to take one lesson a week for the next four weeks and then me, Woodsy. And Chris and we're going to find another person to go on a foursome. We're going to go golf. And I don't golf. But Chris said that with four lessons from a professional, I'm going to get taught by a professional that I can golf. And what's the good news, Chris? Well, it's cool news. It does come with some bad news, too. So you got to decide whether or not you're going to take this because there's totally a catch to it. But I called. We got done talking yesterday. I called my buddy, Brian, who works for Titleist. and told them what we were doing. And the guys down there have heard about you and support you as far as a radio guy. But as far as a golfer, it raised some concerns. So they were sure if they wanted their company name anywhere near what you're about to do. It's so cool. The guys at Titleist went this way then. They said, you know what? Instead, I've got right now, I've got a brand new set of Titleist AP irons that they are going to sponsor you with. And so they said,
That's awesome. Wow. I sent it to you. It's crazy. It's the number one iron in the PGA Tour the last two years, the number one iron for club professionals the last two years, and the number one iron on the amateur. I sent you an email. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have it flagged, but I haven't looked at it. I'm looking at it right now. Here's the news. After talking to him and reading that, I realized this. You have absolutely now no excuse for sucking except for you. Yeah, yeah. Because you have got the number one club. And so Titleist, they were all about it. And Brian said... done, and I got a brand new set of clubs for you, and now the rest is totally up to you. Wow. Yeah, it says AP Irons were the number one iron in the PGA Tour in 08 and 09. They were the number one iron at the 2009 U.S. Amateur. Now, I would be considered an amateur, correct? Yeah.
I think you probably got a couple years before you'd be considered an amateur. Okay. I just wanted to make sure I was not at professional status. I don't think it had anything to do with your name and their clubs on any sort of a golf recognition. Absolutely. Absolutely, yeah. I got people stopping me because they heard about this and several of our mutual friends going, dude, that's the stupidest thing. There's no way he's going to be a good golfer. People are mean. I want to clarify. I'm going to yell. Instead of you taking two years, I said if you take four lessons with the pro, you practice in between those, I have no doubt you'd be good enough to get around the course. Being good enough to get around the golf course is not being a good golfer. So I just want that on the record. Yeah. Okay. I just, hey, listen. All I want to be able to do is go out there and not make it terrible for you guys. Not embarrass yourself. Yeah. That's it. I just don't want to embarrass myself. Yep. Well, I think you're in. And like I said, you know, this way you're not just, you know, the guys that go out there first time and they're swinging and missing balls and they're hitting it sideways and they cannot complete a hole. I mean, that just gets frustrating and stupid. I think if you're going to really do these next four weeks, now that with the clubs you got, I think you can do it. I really do. All right, cool. You can totally do it, Mike. So are you still up for it? Yeah, dude, I'm totally up for it. And what do the numbers mean?
It doesn't matter. You'll learn. What do you mean the numbers? Like a nine iron or something? Yeah, like what are the numbers on the clubs? That's how many strokes it's going to take you to get to the grid. He's pulling your leg, Mike. So the lower the number on the club, the farther the ball goes. Really? So if you have a two iron, you hit a two longer than a three, a three longer than a four, a four longer than a five, and so on. So if you're 180 yards away, Whereas Tiger Woods would hit, I don't know, a nine iron, an eight iron. You'll be hitting a four iron because he's a lot better than you are. Really? Yeah. Will there be any wood? What does that mean? What does that mean? We're in 2010. I don't know. They call them woods, but they're metal. Oh, okay. So you hit your one wood, which is also called a, Mike? It's called a chipper. A driver. Yeah. We're dead, Chris, by the way. What if he's like the greatest golfer ever? I hope so. What if he is? It's not. Well, give him a little positivity. I'm trying, but that's every friend. Yeah, go ahead, Chris. Here's what I just thought to you. I got all these irons. Do you have a bag? I mean, do you have an old set or anything to put them in? I have a Ziploc in my... I have a Ziploc bag here, and I have a bag that I carry in my lunch.
That's not going to work, pal. We can give you a guitar case. I have a guitar case. Oh, you're good. Bring the guitar case. That's it. Dude, I don't even know, like, do I just go to Target or where do I go to get a bag? Like, where do I get a bag? We can go to Target and get you a bag. We can play to get sports. Yeah, or we can go to Sports Authority and grab you one. Yeah? Yeah, we're right around the Kona. All right. Yeah, yeah. All right. We're going to get you a glove. We're going to get you a golf glove. What do you wear that for? Just for a better grip on your left hand, we're going to get you a righty. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, we're going to get you a golf glove. Maybe we'll get you some golf spikes. Question. Yes. What do I wear? You wear cargo shorts. When we go, yeah, wear your cargo shorts and a collared shirt. Why don't wear cargo? You need to wear a beret with a little feather top. Wear what Michael Shannon would wear. You'll be good. What do I actually wear? Shorts and a collared shirt with tennis shoes. Like a pullover. Yeah, like a pullover. Is there like a uniform? Like you have to pass a dress code? Yeah, in golf there is. You don't want to be wearing a Puma t-shirt out there. But I can wear cargo shorts, right? Yeah. And do I have to get golf shoes? Yeah, we'll get you some golf shoes. Do I need to or can I wear sneakers? No, I mean you can, but golf shoes are better. What are golf shoes? Like spikes? They got spikes in the bottom. Soft spikes.
Oh, my goodness. My wife is like, okay, honey, thanks for the expensive five grand hobby. Hey, listen, Titleist is sponsoring me. Yes, that's ridiculous. That's kind of angry. I'm sure my dad is throwing things in my house right now. I got like the best clubs. Yeah, best clubs around. Best clubs around. You got pretty hooked up. No pressure, huh, Mike? Great. Chris, thank you, and thank you to your buddy over at Titleist. They did awesome. Way to go, Brian, if you're listening right now. Thanks for coming through, buddy. Brian, that is so cool, dude. I really appreciate it. And I can't wait to use the best clubs in the world. And again, if I'm terrible, which will probably be the case, it isn't your fault. Your clubs are fantastic. I'm just not gifted. Or coordinated. Or coordinated. Yet. Yet. In four weeks, you're going to be teared up. Okay. We'll see. All right, Chris, thanks, man. Are you going to videotape this? Yeah, we're going to videotape it, unfortunately. Yes. Okay. All right, man. All right, we'll see you. Oh, boy. Can I correct myself really quick? Sure. You're going to say I'm not going to be good. No. What? No, I was going back to the Disney thing because I remembered and it's Club 33 is the exclusive club at Disneyland. Oh, my gosh. Because I know I'm going to get emailed. Sienna, the phones are blowing up. That's what I'm telling you. It's a big deal. This is all I've been doing is answering the phones. There's so many people have been in. This place is insane. You've been in? It is insane.
You're under a magnifying glass, Sienna. It's a big deal, I'm telling you. M1 Matt? No, just M1 Matt. Scarlett Johansson was in, like, the night before I was in, they were telling me. Really? Yeah. Wow. M1 Matt, have you been in there? How's it going, man? Yeah, I've been in there. My parents are, my dad's a member there. You have to be a member? And they don't have any new members anymore, right? They're not inviting any more people for... I'm not sure how it works. I know I always got in because my dad works for Wells Fargo. And so, like, we always got in. You get in for free to Disneyland because it's just so expensive to eat there. I remember going there as a kid so much. And you literally, it's like 200 bucks a person to eat there at least sometimes. What? Yeah. Maybe more. It's so cool because it's like under, it's right in the Mardi Gras area. And you're eating right on the top stories where the buildings are. And you're right over all the people. You know where they have, yeah, like the Louisiana bread bowls and stuff like that. We're like upstairs above that looking out on everyone. Really? Yes. And you go in a little. antique, old-fashioned elevator. And the bathrooms were the coolest bathrooms I've ever been in. Yeah. Everything was so cool. Your doodle doesn't even smell there. It does. It's really cool. It smells good there. It's the Club 33, of course. So do you still go there ever? Yeah, I was there probably six months ago or so. It's really cool. I only go there with my dad because you have to be a member. They don't let anyone in. And you have to make reservations a couple months prior because it's just so packed.
And you have to, I'm not really sure how it works. I'm not really sure how he gets in, but I know he just calls whoever he calls and then they let you in. But it's cool because there's like a secret door. It's almost like in the movies, like there's like a club. Like the guy pulls up the, like opens through the door and like you have to say a secret password almost. It is. It's like a speakeasy. There's like a little panel that you open up on the door and you have to speak into a speaker and then they buzz you in. It's really crazy. Thank you, brother. Woodsy, what's going on? Dude. I just Googled Club 33, and there's a link that says, how do I join? Yeah. Membership to Club 33, like all good things, requires patience. We're recently informed that the current wait time is approximately 14 years. 14 years. They're not letting any new members in right now, yeah. Oh, my God. People, like, it's insane. Make your dad take us. Somebody take the kid, dude. My dad's not in it. Who's in it? We got in. It was a woman that my mom works with who took us. And my brother, my mom, and I went, and it was amazing. Really? Uh-huh. That's insane. No, I mean, it's just the coolest. You see, it's like a hidden door, and the only way you know is because there's a little number 33 written, and you ring the thing, the little doorbell, and someone comes down and gets you and asks you the little password, and you have to let them know, and then you go up this antique, tiny little elevator. Hey, boss, I used to be a server there. No, you didn't. I was, too.
How'd you get in? I got in because my original boss was played by Ricardo Montalbán. He used to be a member there. What was the password? He wasn't just a member, he was also a client. And so we would go in there and he would order the little sliders. Sliders? And for me it was a full hamburger. It was very filling for you, I bet. I held it in both hands. Do you remember the password? Yes. What is it? Oh, really? I'm going to tell you the password and the error? You can tell everybody that everybody can go down there and use it? No, I don't think it's a password. It's something like everyone has something special that they say, every member. Oh, really? Something like that. Can you get us in, Tattoo? I could probably make a couple of phone calls. Well, get on that. Make that right. That. Do you need help reaching the phone? Oh, really, Laura? Here, take my cell phone. Oh, take me, take me. The button's too big for you? Yeah, the button was too big for me. Because... Use your elbow. Your fingers look like Vienna sausages, dude. That's just wrong. Yeah, that was really wrong, huh, Laura?
Hey, I thought that was just kind of a low blow, no pun intended. Oh, low blow! Wasn't a high blow, right? No, it was low because you're little. You got a short stack of pancakes over here for you, too. A short stack of little cell phones! Well, Fiona, you don't want to join in on some of this crew, eh? No, I feel sorry for you. Yeah, you sure, because, well, number one, I'm dead. But number two, because it's ridiculous. Did you work in the It's a Small World again? No! Go find that! Laura! I'm just saying. M1 Rose is on the line. Hi, Rose. Good morning, guys. How are you? Good. How are you doing? Good morning. Well, I just wanted to let you know that my company actually has a membership. Take us. Take us. Take us. Take us. Take us. Well, bye. I wish I could. That is crazy. Anyway, so if you get an approval from one of our vice presidents of the company, you can take advantage of the membership. Wow. And so we decided to take my daughter, who was turning 14 at the time, and two of her girlfriends.
to the club. And my husband was rolling his eyes the entire time. Oh, my God. The Jonas Brothers were probably sitting next to you, weren't they? Seriously, no kidding. And he's like, I can't believe we're spending all this money, blah, blah, blah. But when you're sitting there eating rack of lamb over the millions of crowds that are underneath you, I mean, it's really kind of cool. But back to Sienna's point about the bathrooms, my daughter and her girlfriends were so... thrilled about the restrooms. They actually took pictures. They're like thrones. I couldn't reach. You couldn't reach? No, I couldn't. You don't want to make a joke about it, you know? Because, you know, I needed a little ladder. What? You couldn't reach a urinal? No, I couldn't. I had to have a ladder, but it was no big deal. It was very, very neat. Like Sina was saying, they're like little thrones. It was really, really neat. If you ever... ever, anyone get the opportunity. Like, I know it's expensive, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Don't pass it up. I mean, there's so many great Disney archives up there. Like, there's a table over there that's from the Mary Poppins movie. You can actually sit there and touch, and it's really, really cool. Thank you, Rose. Rose, I appreciate it. Rose, I love the call. Mikey, you don't get it? I just decided that I'm out.
Because. Cartoons. You guys, I'm going to go. Club 33 is a non-smoking establishment. I'm out. Shocker. That's it. I'm not going. It's Disneyland, dude. It's Disneyland. I'm out. No, you know what? Walt is upset that he can't have a butt while he's at Disneyland. I'm going to have a rack of lamb without a cig. You will like this place, though, because Walt Disney himself banned alcohol when he was alive throughout the park. Never will alcohol be allowed at Disneyland except in Club 33. It's a privilege there, it says. That's the only place. Really? Hey, Mikey, can I share a little anecdote? Sure. Anecdote, however you say it. Yeah. Before I came to the show, before you found my video on YouTube, I almost moved to Hong Kong to be one of the Disney princesses. Yeah, let's give it... Shocking. My jaw just dropped open. At Disney World Hong Kong, and I went through all these different little casting processes. I was two minutes late to my final casting call. Weird. Yeah, weird. And they were like, sorry. No way. Sorry. What about Matt? You would just have left him? We were talking about him coming, maybe being like Prince Ali or something like that. But. He would make a great Prince Ali. Yeah, he would. Prince Ali Ababa. Yeah. But I missed. But you know what?
If I had made that casting call, I might not be on the mic right now. Well, yeah, that's why you were two minutes late. Exactly. Yeah, fate. But they are no joke at Disneyland. I wouldn't imagine. You have to know everything. You have to know everything. No joke. Background test. There's a jail in Disneyland. There are the, you know, like our friends Russ and Rachel, they love Disneyland. And you're either really a Disneyland person or you're not a Disneyland person. I didn't grow up with it. You know, I didn't watch the, you know, to me it's cartoons. The tough part about those places is the chafing. What is chafing? That goes on when you have to walk around for seven, eight hours. You chafe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it hurts. You don't chafe? Yeah, you do. I don't chafe. Mike? Uh, yeah. Yeah. And my little feet get real sore. My feet hurt. My knees start to ache. I'm chafing. I'm out. Lauren instantly laughed. I can't smoke. I just wanted to say, too, this does not have anything to do with chafing, but another little fun fact. Yeah. One merchandise. One time I was going to move to Australia to play. No, I did move to Australia. Oh, yeah, she did. But this is different. This is. OK, so the one thing that.
Disneyland and maybe Disney World will not sell in terms of merchandise besides the alcohol. Speedballs. Yeah, crack. Speedballs. You can buy a t-shirt, a visor, a pen, all that. They won't sell shoes because they have little cameras on the ground. And if a kid gets kidnapped there, it's so easy to change their outfit or whatever. But you can't change their shoes. So if you remember what their shoes are, they'll never sell shoes at Disneyland. Really? Yeah. I love that. Fascinating. I don't know. I could have made that up, but I'm pretty sure that's what I heard. That sounds right. So you can buy speed balls there? Yeah. Speed balls. They sell them right next to the churros. Silly things I get in. Classic. Before the calls and complaints and all that. What's the matter with you people? I was joking. Don't you know a joke when you hear one? It was not meant to be serious or taken literally. Disneyland is the happiest. Oh, totally, totally. What kind of a Grinch are you? Get me out of here. Get me the hell out of here. I liked it. I'm just saying, I liked it and everything. I thought it was fantastic. It was one of the best times I ever had. I'm saying my issue was that, you know, like, it was a little scary. Yeah. I thought that some of the rides were a little scary. You're a wimp.
I admit it. I thought Toontown was scary. They had doctors in there with the big doctor eyes and the doctor drills. Maddie, my 21-year-old daughter, that's still the place she likes to go every year for her birthday, so we take her every year. I would love it, too. Do not see how many happy people there are there. Little kids. You look at one little kid's face, and it's the happiest it's ever been. I get it. I just, you know what? I pass. I get it, though. I'll go. I'll just take my gold bond medicated power with me. I went when I was 10 or 11. Let's go. I'll go with you. Okay. I think we need a field trip. Show field trip. My goodness. Yeah, done. I don't want to go with Mike. Stop. I'm not going to go with anything. Be my friend. We're going to shame him into having fun. Yeah, we'll shame him into going. You are my friend, but I'm not on the same side as you on this one. Really? Yes. We can't agree to disagree? No. All right. Everyone has to like Disneyland. Fine. You know what I mean, one. Yes. Mike Shannon. How dare you? How dare you? Michael Shannon is awful. Welcome to the Michael Shannon Show. Oh, Michael. Can you explain that story again every day for the rest of our career? Why don't I not? It's the worst.
There's a picture of Mikey as Michael Shannon in the old thing. Hey, I don't know if you know who Stephen A. Smith is, but this dude is a pretty outspoken sports writer, man. I knew I was going to get a text from my friend Russ. About my secret? He's got my back. He does. Of course he does. He's like, dude, you got to let us take you, you know. I guess I'm going to be on the line right now because we're talking about, I guess there's like a secret club at Disneyland called Club 33. Now, I guess the way that they do it is you go in there and they say, first rule about Club 33, do not talk about Club 33. Ever.
Second rule about Club 33. Do not talk about Club 33. Really? Yeah, and then Brad Pitt comes out. He's got no shirt on. Ed Norton's there. He's boxing heel. Yep. And here I am. That's the way it goes. Let's see. Hey, everyone. We got a guy named M1DJ Pass. You there? Yes, I am. What is the deal? You've been to Club 33, right? Yes, and I do have a membership. Really? We're going. How did you get it? And how long did you wait? Well, my company that I work with, partner with another organization that has the membership. Don't talk about the organization. You know, you can't mention every organization. It's called Umerta. I don't really want to mention it. But, yeah, I do have a membership to Club 33. And they have a lunchtime you can eat, a dinnertime you can eat. The prices are different. For the lunch menu, it's $69 for lunch, and you get to order one item off or one entree off a menu of seven or eight different items, and then you get a really fabulous all-you-can-eat cold buffet of salads and lobsters and strawberries and shrimp. Is it good food? Of course it's good food. I thought about it, and I'm in.
Why is the boy crying? He's not. He's happy. He's freaking out happy. Good. That's what you're hearing. Greatest thing ever. Well? Well, if you guys want to go, just say the word. Yes. The word. Wait, wait, wait. You can get us in? I can not only get you guys into the club for the meal, but I can also comp your way into Disneyland. No way. Basically, you're... Like the hugest deal in the world. Are you kidding me? You can actually get us in there. Yeah. So if neither of you had tickets or annual pass holders, because you're eating lunch at Club 33, you guys all get passed in for the day, whether it be Disney, California Adventure, both parks, however you want to do it. But as long as you're going to eat lunch at 33, you can spend the rest of the day at Disneyland. No way. I'm in. Greatest day ever. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. You're the best man in the world. Can we put you on hold and get some information from you? Would you like to be in my wedding? Hang on the line, will you? Hang on the line. That is killer. You guys, you don't understand. There's people listening right now that have tried, like, their entire lives together. Wow. And some guy just called us right now, and some grinch like Mikey who doesn't even care. Are you kidding me? I'm getting us in a magic car to drive up there for crying out loud. Yeah, exactly. We'll get a limo.
Absolutely. Yeah, we're going to do it up real good. A limo? Really? Let's do it. All right, fine. My mom's got the hookup on limos. Yeah. Does she? She's a wedding planner. God, I don't have to do anything anymore. You can pay for it. Yeah. I really want to go to Jamaica for anyone out there that has any connections. Hey, listen, I think it sounds great. That's awesome, dude. That guy is so... He's so cool. That's amazing. Yeah. Jay's making it right in there, too, with him. I feel like... The luckiest person. That's pretty cool. Everyone of you should. Yeah, I do. I think it's cool. That's so sarcastic. It's not. It's just, you know me, you know, I'm a... Mikey, you're going to go there. Can I come with y'all? Dave? Is that Dave Matthews? Can I come with y'all? Yeah, Dave, you can come with us. Dave Matthews. Can I wear my bathrobe? No, no, no, no. You can't wear the bathrobe there. How about my hemp sandals? No, they would definitely think that that's good. And you're being inappropriate. For sure. Yeah, they'll think it's weird if you do that. Dave Matthews. Dave, do you have your guitar with you? Always. Look at that. Look at Dave. Of course he does. Dave has a full beard now. I mean, he was scraggly before, but now it's a full beard. I heard you talking about the Foo Fighters. Yeah, we were. We were talking about the Foo Fighters. I wrote this song for Dave Grohl. Don't believe that, but go ahead. You know this one? Yeah, it's Everlong. And I was enjoying these pancakes this morning, so...
Pancakes. Tastes so flippin' good. Slidin' down my throat. That's... Buttermilk. Tastes so freakin' good. To wash these pancakes down. It's awesome. Buttermilk? Isn't that what's in the pancakes? I need syrup. And maybe a pat of butter. Isn't it right, really, Dave? It doesn't really rhyme, Dave. But he toned it down. Yeah, he did. No, he did. You were able to tone it down, which I thought was really good. I like my pancakes with cocaine. Okay, yeah, thank you. All right, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave. Thank you very much. That's Dave Matthews. And you're being inappropriate. Of course you are. Thank you. Seriously, though, I just want you guys to know that if we really do get to go, Mike, you're going to walk out of there skipping. Really? You're going to be calling people. I've never skipped.
You love food, so you're a foodie. Write that down. I've never skipped. For the record, Dave Matthews is already asleep. Just for the record. He fell asleep that fast. I think he's passed out. Yeah, he's passed out. Guy's got a full beard. He's wearing a white robe, and he's already asleep over there. He stinks. Well, he hasn't showered in 15 shows now, 17 shows. Something amazing. He's got natural oils coming out of him. That's right. 570-1949 is our number. If you want to text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. Sienna's flipping out. Going to go to Club 33. I can't wait. I've been there once before, but normally, like... What do we wear? Like, we have to dress up. You're just nice. Really? Like, last time I went, I wore clothes to the park and I was there during the day. And then I changed in the bathroom at Disneyland into, like, heels. Nothing like wearing a suit to Disneyland. Yeah, exactly. At least you got a suit now. Yeah. Okay, so the Stephen A. Smith thing, do we have a clip of him? We do, Michael. Let's cut five. I thought it was a start, but I also thought he came across... Wait, wait, wait. Just so you know, he's talking about Kobe Bryant's apology? No, no, not Kobe Bryant. Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods' apology. Yes. I thought it was a start, but I also thought he came across as very fake and disingenuous. I didn't buy a word of sincerity coming out of his mouth. I thought that he was upset that he had to even be there in terms of...
addressing anybody. He certainly didn't want to address the media, and I thought that he was a punk, that he cowered away from the real issue of really addressing what transpired. You don't have to give into detail about what transpired between you and the mistress, or with you and your wife, or whatever the case may be. But you do need to go in front of some people and actually answer questions, as opposed to giving some kind of press release. Crazy. Hey, he's from Philly. He tells it like it is. I mean, he told it like... It is. Dude, it's no joke. I don't like it. You're out. I'm out. I liked it. Oh, boo-hoo. Oh, Steven, like you're so... He's an angel. He must be an angel. Just call me Steven. No, him. Steven A. Smith. Not you. Stephen A. Smith. He must be an angel, right? He's never done anything wrong. I don't know. And I'm sure every time he does something wrong, he gets up in front of people and lets the whole world know that he's sorry. Hey, this was monumental. Yeah, it was. And I think the guy got up. Monumental mess up. Hey, it was a monumental mess up. I got to tell you, though, man. The guy, I think he owned it. I thought he got up there and he set his deal. That's explosive audio. A coward and a punk. Punk was hilarious. That's crazy. Yeah.
That's crazy. Hey, listen, I do think that there's no doubt about it. That's crazy. That he, you know, messed up. And I think that all of us mess up. And I thought that he got up and he did his thing, you know. And in terms of, like, the whole him sounding disingenuous, dude's a golfer. He's not a speaker, you know. I mean, what are you going to sound like? He's not running for president. He's not running for president. He's not, you know. I'm sure if someone else was saying they were sorry for something. They may be able to get up there and make it sound a lot better. Well, you're a great public speaker. That's because I'm a public speaker. I'm the American Idol. You're the president, actually, of America. You probably shouldn't make that comparison. Actually, I don't think that's it. 40 million people can't be wrong. Can you sing? Yeah, I can. Can I hear you? Yeah, sure. Just to request a song. What do you want me to sing? Adam Lambert. I can sing any song from Adam Lambert. Okay. Do you know an Adam Lambert song? Not one. My problem is, too. I can't even name one. Come on, give me a song. Let's see here. Train, Soul Sister. I know that's one of your favorites. Don't have a problem with that. Know the song very well. Know the guys from Train, actually. They were over at the house last night. At the White House? Yeah, they'll come over. I know the Brolins and the Streisands, and so I'll have them over. I know pretty much everybody. I hang out with everybody. I was hanging out with P. Diddy last night as well. Oh, were you? Yes, I was, but anyway, on to the song. Hey, Soul Sister.
Ain't you Mr. Mr. on the radio? Hey, told sister. Ain't you Mr. Mr. on the radio? I think you should stick to the president. Pretty good. Maybe not the singer. That's pretty good, Mr. President. Not bad at all. It was really nice and well done. The guy really gave it his best. It's a tough crowd around here. It's like a bunch of... Sounded like he was just talking. East German Olympic judges around here, for crying out loud, holding up low numbers. A dude. From San Diego, who's in a rock band. I don't want to say the name of the rock band. It rhymes with Fink One Matey Poo. The Green Day. Now, who is it? Who got into a fight? Travis Barker, the drummer from Blink-182, got into a little confrontation, let's say, on Sunday morning. With who? He was some paparazzi.
He and the photographers got into a big, big situation. There was yelling, and I don't know if there was violence. I don't think there was physical violence, but they were in each other's faces screaming. There were profanities, and Travis's little kids were standing right there. They were just finishing breakfast at a restaurant in the neighborhood of Calabasas, which is where the Kardashians live, if you watch the show. Really? I did not. Yeah, and the police were called. No charges were filed, but... Photographers, of course, as they normally do, you know, want to press charges and cause a future deal. Don't cuss in front of the kids. No. But maybe he just, when enough is enough, you don't necessarily have your filter on. He's just sick of it. I mean. Travis tweeted about it and said that, you know, when I'm out at breakfast at 8 in the morning with my kids, I would really appreciate if photographers weren't threatening to fight me while they were in three deep. You know what? I will say this in defense of Travis Barker. Yeah. I think it's really gross, man, when they're taking pictures and you got your kids there. I think that's gross. I think that's so hideous, man. Like, that's a whole other category of ghoul. Well, you know why? Because we read, not me in particular, but we read these magazines, like Us Weekly, and there's this section that's like, stars, they're just like us. They tie our shoes. They go out to breakfast. They eat breakfast. Stars without makeup.
Yeah, I don't like that stuff. It's just, come on. You know, the guys that I've always liked, though, are the celebrities that, if you disarm them, you know, by, hey, here we are. Right. Take our picture. What else you got? Okay, we're going to go eat now. See you later. That seems to work. I mean, if you're, I know it's got to be hard. You got your little kids there. But when you're. Putting the cloaks in front of them. I mean, that's drawing more attention to yourself. You know what I mean? So you've got to try to disarm those guys as best you can. But you can't fault him for trying to protect them. Oh, and I never would fault anybody for protecting their family. But, you know, it's like me. When I'm out in public, I mean, I'm just nice. You know what? Yeah. Woodsy is nice, though. He's right. Does he have paparazzi? Yeah, I've got people following me everywhere. He does. He's got people, you know, he's at Ralph's this morning. And they ran in there and they're like, it's Woodsy! There's some of them, though. It's like, why do you need to live in Hollywood with your kids? I know. He's outside of Hollywood in Calabasas. He's in Calabasas. Whatever. He's probably eating on sunsets. He was probably eating on the sunsets. Calabasas, a lot of celebrities live there. Like I just said, Keeping with the Kardashians is filmed in Calabasas. There's signs the cameras go to every five seconds saying, they're in Calabasas, you know? I just think there's other nice areas throughout the country. Yeah, but if they want to be close to where stuff happens, they need to be close to L.A. They're trying to get outside.
of the bubble and they're still getting followed. And they love it. They freaking love it. Trust me. Why do you say it? They love it. The day they stop following Travis Barker is the day Travis Barker's career is over. No. I do not believe... 100%. You guys, but that doesn't... Why are you Twittering? That may be true. Why are you Twittering? Why does everybody have to know where you are at all times? It may be true that if they don't care about you, the photographers, it may be true that when they don't anymore... Maybe it's because your career isn't as strong as it was. That may be true. But that doesn't make true that you like it. Yeah. It doesn't. It doesn't make true that you like it. Really? Some people do. The Paris Hilton's do. Some people that say. They call the paparazzi. I'm going to breakfast in Calabasas right now. What about Tiger Woods? What about Tiger Woods? He would have rather probably none of that ever came to light. Well, of course. He would have rather slayed in private. Of course, as most people would. But now, as a result, his kids and his wife and his mother are having people following him. You know who I think likes it? Handsome and pretty people. I wouldn't like it. I'm not very attractive. Mark that.
I'd be surprised because this wasn't a setup. No doubt. He's like, man, I'm not getting enough. Okay, I'm going to get in a fight with a photographer. And oh, look how I'm all the news and all over the covers of all the magazines again. You guys are cynical. It's true, though. I mean, it's true. But like, I like Ben Affleck and his wife, Jennifer Gardner, moved to like somewhere in Colorado, like a small town, you know, and they're never seen. Cool. Yeah, they don't like it. But they're, you know, they're in movies. Oh, so the only reason. So what's he saying? The only way that you don't like it is if like you move out of L.A. No, but Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have lived in like Zimbabwe. I mean, they've been all over the place and there's still paparazzi. But they're never going to escape it. They ain't Travis Barker. Yeah. Travis, you know, Travis Barker's famous for the last five years being in a plane crash. No, Travis Barker's. No, Travis. Former drummer of Blink-182. Yeah, but I don't think that he's like, oh, no. I'm not having my picture taken. Oh, no. Well, the paparazzi is probably privy to other information. Who knows if he's got a reality show or something coming up. I've always had this debate with Jamie and Jamie, my wife. And I said, these are Cadillac problems. If you don't want to be seen and you don't want to be photographed, then don't be famous. I mean, it comes with the territory. The funny guys, like Vince Vaughn will walk out and be like, what's up, fellas? You guys need some pics?
Get your picks. I'm going to go on with my nut. You know he does that every time. I've seen it. Yeah, but there's times when you're just having a nut. Woods and Vince Vaughn are like the same person. He uses all my bits. That's what you would do, all right? There's no question. No question. I'd be out there having a beer and a cigarette going, get your picks now because I'm about to go blow it out inside. I'll see you guys when I get out of there. I mean, what can they do then? Well, they don't want to follow him. You know, I mean, he doesn't care. He doesn't care. It's not true. I've seen people like Lindsay Lohan and them say, hi, guys. Hi. And they still get followed. Well, Lindsay Lohan calls them. Right. To tell. I think she was saying, I'm high, guys. I'm high. M1OMG. Are you there? M1OMG. Oh, my God. What's up? Hey, my girlfriend lives up in. Yeah, I think it's normal. He's just being a normal person. Which he should have the right to do, right? There's no question he should.
But also, those paparazzi, I'm not going to sit here and defend them, but they get paid to take pictures of people like Travis Barker. Yeah, it's a dirty, dirty, dirty job. You know, so is prostitution. I don't know what my point is on that, but I just felt like saying it. Okay? Write that down. I was like, where's that going to go? I didn't know. I said it, I go, I have no idea, but it sounded good. I love that you're like, hey, I don't know what that means, okay? So sue me. I don't know what I mean by that, so sue me. But you see like the Sean Penns of the world beating the crap out of photographers? Dude, they're going to be there. And if you add fuel to their fire, they're going to keep coming back for more. Because what's gold? What is gold for those guys? A gold picture for those guys is Travis Barker with his fist drawn back about to give him a shot. I have a question, Woods. Fire away. In the car?
Do you ever get so sick of traffic that you'll, like, punch your steering wheel or do something like that? Okay. The traffic's going to be there. Sure. Whether you punch the steering wheel or not. Right. That's a great point. That's so great. Nobody's taking pictures of me. Use your better job. It's like the guy twittering stupid things. I mean, use your head. You're having breakfast. They're taking pictures. Hey, guys, I'm having breakfast with my kid. Give me 10 minutes. I'll be right out. What are they going to do? Maybe he did that. Maybe enough is enough. People need to back. Hey, man, I wouldn't want anybody taking pictures of my kids no matter what. It's like, dude, I'd say, you know, if you're there and they're taking pictures, you'd be like, dude, you know, you take pictures of me, but have a heart, bro. It's my little boy, my little girl, whatever. Get a private table. What if they did? Jay and I are on the same page. Get a private table. Like, what does that mean, get a private? Like, what is that? Go in the back of the restaurant where they can't come in the restaurant in the back of the restaurant. I mean, like when we met. Is somebody going to come take pictures in that back room? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. That back room, though, that was like a secret mafia room that Jeff put together for us, and you know it. We were in the wine cellar. We were basically in the wine cellar. When we all met for the first time, we didn't want to be in front of it. You guys, it's called the price of fame. No. It's the price of fame. No, dude. You have to pay in a minute.
Come on. It shouldn't have to be. Especially not with kids. Yeah. Like, because you're famous. Like, I hate that phrase. It's what you signed up for. No, I didn't. I mean, some people do sign up. Some people get publicists to tip off the paparazzi. But not everyone. Yeah, not everyone. And so hasn't he done like reality shows and he married like a porn star? Yeah, I think Travis Barker. I'm on the same size as Woods and Jay on this one. I don't think he's Brad Pitt. You know what I mean? Just because, yeah, Brad Pitt, obviously, like that sucks. They're never going to escape it. But Travis Barker, yeah, he was on reality shows. Yeah. He had video cameras living in their house. Hey, cameras, come into my house. Come into my house. But no, no, no. I'm having breakfast with my kids. Don't take pictures of me now. No, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But come in my house, though, and hang. Question. I mean. So I just want to write the rules down. I'm going to break out a piece of paper, write the rules down. Just want to make sure I got the rules right. So if you have a reality show, it means that you're not allowed.
To say no. Yeah, all bets are off. All bets are off. It means you're fair game, pal. It means, that's not what it means. It just means, look, like, he obviously is not that upset if people are taking pictures of his kids because he brought cameras into the home to film their kid's birth and stuff. When Shana Moakler was pregnant, the cameras were there in their bedroom, in the kids while they're sleeping in their crib, stuff like that. If you don't want your kids seen, don't do that. Okay, wait a minute. I'm having breakfast. Leave me alone. Okay, wait a minute. It's weak. Give you a perfect example. Fire away. You do sports here on the radio. All right. You're with Jamie. Yes. You're at a restaurant. Yes. And you guys are having a very intense conversation. Okay. Somebody comes over and they want to talk Padres. Okay. All right. And they want to talk right then. Okay. You're probably not really interested in talking. Okay. I personally think it's fair for you to say, dude, I'm totally down with you. I'm going to be, my wife and I are in the middle of something here, but I will talk to you in just a second, brother. I promise. Yeah.
I'm totally down with that. But if we follow your logic, that's not allowed. You know why? Because you do sports on the radio. You signed up for it. Oh, really? You don't want to talk about sports? Then why are you on the radio talking about sports? If he came and got into my bed with me and I read sports to him then, then it would be fair game. Out in public. Yeah, you're in public. You're at Potato Shack. Okay. You and Jamie are having a real conversation. And I tell him, hey, man, give me five minutes. And he's like, no, no, no, dude. I ain't going to give you five minutes. We're talking right now. You signed up for this. You signed up. You do it on the radio. You're a sports guy on the radio. I don't think that's the same at all. The paparazzi don't go in the restaurants. They don't bother when you're sitting down. They can't do that. That's. I think what the paparazzi did was worse than what I just described to you. You know he was sitting there having breakfast. He saw dudes taking pictures, and you know he flipped out and walked over to them. I guarantee you. That's not a guarantee. Yeah, and I bet it went like this. I'll take a guess. I bet he went, hey, man, can you not take pictures of my kids? Could be. And they were probably like. He's like, dude, come on. Please, man. Dude. Yeah. Okay, cool. You done?
Dude, can you not take pictures of my kids, man, please? Could be. I mean, it could be. And there's no way to generalize anything. Yeah. But, again, it's kind of the price of fame, dude. You're going to get photographed. It is. It is. And it's sad. It is. But the paparazzi these days are so far over the line. Mikey, I'm sorry he's right, man. Is that too? I didn't even ask you, bro. I'm sorry he's right, though. It used to happen to me all the time. Oh, yeah, really? Really? Like, when did it happen? When I was dating Britney Spears. You dated Britney Spears? Well, we were having boom boom together, but we weren't actually dating. Out of what together? Boom boom. Happy times. Okay. It was a different time in both of our lives. How was that? How was what? How was the boom boom with Britney Spears? Little personal question, but wonderful. The problem was when I got into the relationship with hell, I knew I was inviting the paparazzi in my service. Right. But it's the price of fee, Mikey. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. You know why? Why? Boom, boom. Well, and I'm sure you probably enjoyed the exposure because it's been a little while for you.
Yeah, it has been a little while, and my publisher told me if you start to date Britney Spears, first of all, people won't think you're dead. Second of all, you will get back into the public eye. Third of all, you won't have to stand on an apple crate anymore to do so. What is it? An apple crate. It's a crate that holds apples. Isn't that what you use to reach the microwave, Mikey? No? No, because I had to do the microwave for him. That's right. Woodsy had to give me a boost. I just want to say, I used the microwave yesterday to heat up the spaghetti. No problems. I don't know where your problems came. My problem with the microwave here at FM 94. You have to jump to push the button. Shut your mouth. Shut your filthy mouth. Damn it, I put it on five minutes again. I hate your mouth. We're going to do the jingle contest next. We got a prize, Jay? Got a prize? Yeah, six-pack CDs. There you go. How about that, kids? We'll do that next. You want a six-pack of CDs, call 5701-949 and pick a horse. You're going to either pick Sienna, Lauren, or Woodson. More of the Mikey Show coming up in minutes on FM 94.9. Hi, this is founder of Jack in the Box. Let's go to Ron on line one. Ron? Yeah, what happened?
You called my radio show. This is Jack Box. Right. Sorry, Jack. I'm a little out of it. See, okay, you've caused an internal meat conflict inside of me. Ron, I'm pretty sure neither one of us knows what you're talking about. Okay, right. The thing is, I can't decide which of your new grilled sandwiches I like better, the turkey, bacon, cheddar, or the deli trio. Okay. I mean, I love the whole new grilled sandwich thing with the toasted bread, but so one has roasted turkey and bacon, but the other, roasted turkey, sliced ham, and salami. Well, they're both delicious. I know, man. I'm torn. There's like a civil war going on inside the country of Ron right now, and I'm not sure which side I should join. Ron. Yeah. You've got some bigger issues, buddy. But right now I need to turn it over to Miles Taylor, a real-life crew member from Enumclaw, Washington. Try Jackson New Grilled Sandwiches, the turkey bacon cheddar, or the deli trio. Made with premium deli meats and cheeses and served on toasted artisan bread at participating restaurants. There's more to life than a Volvo. That's not a statement any other car company has the confidence to make. But for Volvo, a brand that has always been synonymous with safety and trust, it's simply what we believe.
As our founders said over 80 years ago, cars are driven by people. The guiding principle behind everything you make at Volvo, therefore, is and must remain safety. This principle to build beautifully designed cars that protect you and the ones you love still holds true. In fact, we are so confident in the cars we put on the road today that we now have a best-in-class coverage plan to protect you from unplanned expenses. It's called the Volvo Safe and Sound Coverage Plan. It provides five years of warranty. Five years of factory schedule maintenance, five years of wear and tear coverage, and five years of roadside assistance. This means next to no cost to you for the first five years of ownership, and it's complementary with every new Volvo. Volvo, the brand you can trust, has now made the cost of owning a car as safe as the cars we build. There's more to life than a Volvo. That's why you drive one. I love that song. Welcome back. It's a Mikey show. Okay, well, I'm in a quandary. I got a couple of things that I want to do. I want to do the jingle contest with you guys. We had people on the line waiting to do this, and I lost them, so I need them back. If you want to win a six-pack of tickets, then give us a call. CDs. A six-pack of CDs. CDs nuts. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Six pack of CDs. Call now. Lauren explained that to me. I still don't understand it. I don't think she can explain it. She's always said that. I don't think it's... She tried. I didn't get it. Well, not on the radio. I don't think you can. She explained it off the radio. I still said I don't get it. She said, everybody used to say that. CVs is what it means. CVs. CDs. 570. But it means CVs. Never heard that. She's like, come on. Everybody says that. 570-1949. 949mikey at gmail.com. And what you're going to do is you're going to pick either Lauren Woods. Oh, actually, somebody's got Lauren. Yes. Somebody picked you, Lauren. Really? M1 Winder. Yeah, what's up, guys? Oh, you're my man. You want Lauren? No, not really, but Jay gave her to me. Oh. Who did you want? I'm just kidding. I'll take anybody you guys give me. I'm stoked. All right, hang on. Jay, don't give me pity horses. He had to give you a pity pick. Yeah. I won the last game we played. Yeah, how about that? We've all won one. M1 Winder. Everybody's won one. I've won more than one. You know that. Have you? Yeah, dude. That's right. You hear that? Tooting my own horn. Tooting his own horn. M1 SoCal is on the line. SoCal, you there? I'm here. Who do you want? Vienna. I knew it.
I knew he'd want me because his name is SoCal. Hang on the line. And I like him. And who is this? Hello? Hello? Hi, what's your name? Jessie. Jessie, you got our boy Woodsy. Okay, sounds good. She wanted anyway. Hang on the line. I did want him anyway. Not a girl. There you go. Get out, Woods. She hates me. He makes me feel so loved. Let me tell you something. This is a tough week to be messing with Sienna. You're messing with a rattlesnake. Excuse me, but I'm always nice. That was me trying to grab a drink of water from her. It's a cougar. I'm getting cougar in like, what, four days? Less than four days or something? I've got cuts all up and down my arms. And I'm still here after like three hours of sleep. Woodsie's got a big black eye. If he keeps talking about wearing a pink shirt to the wedding, he's going to get one. It's a done deal. Hey, he signed up for it. That's what he does. Yeah, you signed up for it. That's good. Signed up for it. We love privacy. You guys ready? Yeah. Wait, what are we playing? We're playing a jingle. So I'm going to read the jingle to you. And if you know it and if you recognize it, I'm going to read it because it's going to make it harder for you. So I'm going to read it. And if you know it, I need you to yell your name out. And then we sing it.
Yeah, and if you get it wrong... Do we have to sing it? No, you can sing it for fun if you want to, but you've got to tell me what it is, what the product is. It's jingles for commercials, okay? Let's do this. Now, if you get one wrong, we deduct the point. And here we go. Double your pleasure. Woods. Double mint gum. Stop dancing, Woods. Nice. Nice. The kid likes to double his pleasure real good. Is that the new double mint gum with Chris Brown? Yeah. He's not their spokesperson anymore. So it's dated. You ready? Yeah. Plop, plop. I gotcha. He said ah before he said his name. I got it. Didn't I? He said ah, Woods. Lauren. Lauren. Yes. Lauren. Alka-Seltzer. Plop, plop. Give me half a point for that. Alka-Seltzer, plop, plop, fizz, fizz. I wasn't alive, was I? Oh, what a relief it is. I wasn't alive. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz. Oh, what a relief it is. Those speedy bubbles. Poor Jay. We're going to play the whole Alka-Seltzer commercial. The mouse is frozen again. Oh, what a relief it is. What a relief. Play it again. No. Poor Jay. Our mouse froze. You know, the mouse that controlled. There we go. Poor guy. You guys.
He's going to have a heart attack. We're going to give Jay a heart attack. That's not funny. I think that I have a disadvantage. But it's still their motto. I've never heard that in my life. It's still their motto. Everyone knows plop, plop, fizz, fizz. Everyone does not. You ready? I don't know. Am I going to be alive during the next one? Of course you are. Now that she keeps pushing my buttons, she's not. The taste is going to move you. The taste is going to move you. Any of you guys know? Woods. Oh, wait. That doesn't count. Does it matter? I just got it. Woods, get out of my face. Wait, if you're already at the stage of playing it, does that mean? I thought the question was over once you started playing it. Yeah. I think it is. Do you guys remember seeing that commercial on TV? No. No. I wasn't alive. You ready? Yeah. Two. All beef patties. Woods.
Woods. McDonald's. These girls are seething, seething, seething. Do you remember when that record came in the mail and if the people got all the way through the song, you won like a million dollars? No, that's awesome. Maybe that was a regional thing. It could have been. SoCal, I'm sorry. I'm only 24 and these were from the 60s. Say this one's your era. Big Mac. You ready? Yes. I want my baby. Lauren. Lauren. Chili's. I got it. Buzzer. I don't think she got it. Did she? She got it. She got it. Chili's. Chili's. Justin, did you have fun recording that? Oh, I loved it. Loved it. Did you meet a lot of girls when you were there? Barbecue sauce. That was great. You ready? Would you like to know the score? Oh, come on.
The score. I'm so mad. Maybe we just let her win. Bridezilla over there. No. No, you didn't. Look, she's seething. Oh, that one now. Oh, my gosh. Rattlesnake. Rattlesnake. Get out, seething. You're messing with a rattlesnake. I'm in between. I'm in between. I have really good names. Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. She has been holding in so much with this wedding that she literally is like... A zit about to be popped. Well, maybe there's a different analogy I can use. That's not a good analogy. Yeah, it's not a good analogy, probably. Volcano about to erupt. Oh, that's a much better. Much better. Much better analogy. Ah, Sienna! Sienna, you're going to get this one. You ready? All right, you'll get it. I'll let her with. Oh, I love to eat it. Every day. That's. And if you ask me why, I'll say. Woods is freaking out. He knows it. Go, Woods. He doesn't know it. Oh, I love to eat it every day. Woods. Oscar Mayer. He does like to eat his Oscar Mayer every day. Do you know why I know that song? This is the curious little kid. I know. I'm not. I don't want to hear it. Do you know why I know that? Oscar Mayer. We all know it. No, no. Do you know why Jamie made up a song to sing to Penny Bell, our dog, our Yorkie?
My Yorkie has a first name. It's P-E-N-N-Y. My Yorkie has a second name. It's B-E-L-L-E. I love to kiss her every day. And if you ask me why, I'll say. Shut up! Yeah, we got to go into break soon. Let's finish it. I don't have anything else to throw. That's it. That's it. Because Penny is the cutest puppy in the whole USA. Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! There you go. What's his score, by the way? Why don't you keep track, Nick? You threw your marker at me. Jabroni! What's the score? I don't know what we're yelling about! The score is Woods 3, Lauren 2, Sienna 10. Wow. How many more questions? I don't know, like 20, 30? No, we just have a couple. We'll see if Hillary wants to play, too. You ready? A is for Apple. J is for Jack. Woods. Apple Jack. Apple Jack cereal from Kellogg's. Part of this nutrition. I mean, can someone throw me a bone? I think that's Tom Selleck voicing that commercial, Mikey. I think that's George Washington. I'm going to handpick because I want Sienna to get in this one. No, I don't want any. Listen, I'm going to give some in your era. I don't want any pity. You ready? Yes. Sometimes.
You feel like Baby Ruth. No. Almond Joy is correct. I lose a point. Sometimes you don't. I'm glad I'm amusing you, Mike. I'm glad. I'm sorry. I'm glad I'm going to share for the purpose of keeping score. No. No. No. No. No. Wicked on YouTube. Oh, what was that? I have no idea. What? I don't know. Didn't mean to. I looked over at Sienna. She's beet red. I'm about to leave. She was gritting her teeth at me like, is this show over? Is it because I called you Bridezilla? Well, we obviously know I'm not Bridezilla. We know that. That was a joke. I have been an angel. You have been an angel. You ready? Yeah. They're tied. Lauren and Woods are three.
Sienna's the official scorekeeper of the Mikey show. I'm glad I'm here for a purpose, to keep score. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays. Frickin' Tuesday. Don't ever play that again. Just play the thing. Oh, yeah. I'm going to know this one. There you go. This one you got. Okay. Meow. Woods. Sienna. Meow mix. Oh, my goodness. The first time I said it. That was amazing. That was pretty awesome. Woods is so happy right now. Can people please go to MikeyShow.com and look at the camera and the difference between the moods in Sienna and... Like doing a little shimmy. How can you not bob your head to that? I know. Because your wedding is in five days and there's 50% chance of rain on it. Four days. Four days. Okay, fair enough.
Just get out of my face. Sounds like somebody's got a case for the Mondays. It's Tuesday. I love it. Is it Tuesday? It is, right? I don't even know what year it is. All right, here we go. Ask any mermaid you have. Woods. Star-kissed. What? Tuna. Star-kissed tuna. Lauren. Chicken of the sea. Isn't it the same thing? Two different brands. Two different brands. Lauren is now beating Woods. Is that right? Thank goodness. That can't be. I got Meowmax. And it just got taken away because you guessed the wrong thing. You got a wrong one. Was it three to four? Yeah. Okay. You ready? I think that was the last question, right? Don't judge me. I'm good at one thing and it's keeping score. Fair enough. You ready? Yeah. Two scoops. Lauren, Raisin Bran. Very good.
Give them a staple. If we could find some. That's true. We don't even have any staples in the building. Sienna, how many do you have? Michael Esparza. Michael Shannon. I was asking a question. That's all I was doing. I have a big fat zero. Okay. Well, you know what? Now I know. Thanks, jerk. You got this one, Sienna. Okay. I'm... A pepper. Woods, Dr. Pepper. Okay, Sienna's done. She's taking her headphones off. She is watching out of the show. She's out of the show. That was the greatest look. That was the greatest look I've ever seen in my life. Ever.
She's literally gone. Oh, that was the funniest thing I've ever seen. If that were. She's ringing Jay's neck. How could you pick a song? Let me tell you something. I wish that we could rewind that so that I could view that the rest of the day. That face. Oh, I would be. Well, I say we call it. What's the score? Five to four. Me. We got more to go. I got I got three more. Good. You ready? Yeah. Ho, ho, ho. Woods. What am I doing? I don't know this one. I know it. Lauren, Lauren. Hold on, hold on. Green Giant. I'm just thinking ho-hos. The game over again. Nope, not yet. Sit down. She's going to win. I like to play the post and pick up the rebounds. I just went and got some water to cool off. She was beet red. I wish I could drink something else, but I can't. She was beet red. Oh, man.
All right. I need to get. Who knows, Sienna? You might get these last four right. Laura just put her apple on my paper. Get your crummy apple off of my plate. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays. I thought you were done with it. No. This is my work. Somebody's having a week over there. You guys are all disinvited to the wedding. Here you go. You know this one. Except for Mike because I got a gift from him. Did I already do I'm a pepper? Yes. That's what I left. Mark that down. I did mark it. I'm sure you did. I did. Here we go. Here's to good friends. Tonight is kind of special. None of you guys? I feel like it's like an alcohol. I do too. Like an Ernest and Julie O'Gallo maybe. It's Lone Bra.
It's a beer from the 60s. No, it's not. You ready? Yeah. You're soaking in it. Bleach. Lauren. Lauren. Talgon. Point deducted. I'm taking it away. It's Palmolive. Why did you decide to become a manicure? Can't take my point away. Listen to these. Romance, adventure, money, thirst for power. Money, thirst for power. Yeah, see? Try Palmolive, see? I got one more. What's the score? Maybe I can win it. 4-4? What's the score? The score is 5, Lauren. Oh, God. 4, Woods. Okay. Last one. And away go your troubles down the drain. Lauren. Lauren? Roto-Rooter. Winner. I guessed like nine wrong. Lauren is your winner. Did he just refer to himself as terrible in this game? It was terrible. You almost beat Lauren. What are you talking about? Yeah, but I guessed like nine wrong. I knew. I eat almond joys by the truckload, dude. Please write that down. I want to do that every day. I want to do it every day. Get in a zen place. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life.
Everyone, Winder, what have you got to say now? Let's talk to him. Can I choose for SoCal? Sorry, Jesse. Winder? Okay. Congratulations, Winder. Oh, wait. This is not Winder. Sorry. Hang on. That was somebody that... It was Jesse. It was Jesse. It's the person that Woodsy lost for. Winder, are you there? I'm here. Congratulations, bro. You got a six-pack of CDs. Thanks, brother. Lauren, way to make it right. Yeah, you got it. That's right. Making it right. Don't forget it. Hang on the line, will you? All right, brother. Thank you. Hang on. CD's nuts.
