Jay and Sienna are out so 94/9ner Jesse mans the controls and Lauren does the news. John McCain whistles his way through an argument with President Obama. The Woods sports theme song is perfected. The Kid then tells how his car wouldn’t start the other day and program director Garrett busted out some jumper cables from his desk. Tom Tom girl admits to draining Woods’ battery worrying over Movie Phone Guy after their date. Have you ever written a fan letter? Mikey has, but not to a sports, movie, or rock star, but to that VJ Kennedy chick with the glasses who was on MTV back when they still played music videos! Lauren wrote to all members of NKOTB and M1’s call in with some good ones, too. Mikey reveals he’s cuckoo for Q-Tips. M1 Simone tells her crazy break up story and Johnny Cash comes back from the grave to sing a mash-up with Woods on guitar. Crazy Boss stories brings out an M1 story about a weird veterinarian and then Italian Dude hits on Woods. Retainer-wearing Intern Suzannah came in to flirt with Woods. Mikey finally gets a hold of Movie Phone Guy and puts him on with Tom Tom Girl to help work out their relationship problems which is something to listen to when you’re not eating or drinking, it’s that funny. Katharine Hepburn and James Cagney reminisce about their 140 year old hotdog found at Coney Island. We learn about 2 Teachers 1 Chair. Mikey does his testimony and that wraps up the first full month of the new Mikey Show!

KBZT San Diego, a Lincoln Financial Media Station. The new home of The Mikey Show, FM 94.9. Lauren, how you feeling? Poor thing. Am I on? Yeah. Yeah, you're on. Am I alive? This is what's hysterical, is she says to me, Lauren says to me, first thing this morning, she goes, ah, I was up really late last night. I go, why? She goes, ah, you know, I don't know, maybe nerves about, you know, filling in for Sienna tomorrow or today, blah, blah, blah. And I was like, you don't have anything to worry about. Relax. I'm doing my best to calm her down. Because it's going to be fine. And so she's all flustered and everything. And she's like, hey, so let me ask you this thing. And I'm like, it's fine. You're fine. You're absolutely fine. And I'm doing my best to give calming voice. You were being like. I was trying to be soothing. Well.
You were being like your boy. Yeah, like what I used to be like when I was on the Easy Listening Station. I was being like my alter ego, Michael Shannon. Yes, you were. Lauren, it's completely fine. Yeah, Lauren, don't worry about it. When we come back from break, I'll give you another 10 in a row from Michael Bolton. I'll also give you some journey to kind of slow things down. Don't even worry about it. I was giving her Michael Shannon voice, and I could tell it was having... percentage-wise, it was having 0% effect, okay? I'd like to say it was having a 2% effect, but that wouldn't be accurate. That just went down the toilet. That 2% just went down the toilet. 2%. It just got flushed right down the toilet. So she does great, right? She gets all the stories laid out for today. She's ready to go. Everything's perfect. You know, the music is playing for us to start, and she's frantically running to the printer to get stuff. And as she does, she knocks her coffee over onto all of her stories. I tripped over my... Her cord. Her headphone cord. And knocks it over. Now, I didn't see what happened, but we have a couple of guests in the studio this morning. We have M1 Simone and we have M1 Cullen in the studio with us this morning. And I sort of gauged...
how bad the coffee spill was by Simone's reaction because Simone went, oh, no. Simone had a reaction that was, you know, kind of like tempered, but I could tell like, uh-oh, you know, like, oh, that's probably, you know, not the best thing that could happen, you know. Come here, Simone. Yeah, come over to the microphone. You want to put her here? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We could actually put her over there on that mic. Hi there. So Simone actually called into the show. the other day because we were talking about the most humiliating things that you've ever done during a breakup. Yeah. And Simone called in and told us a great story. It wasn't great. It was awful, actually. Yeah. I thought it was great. But quite a storyteller. Great storyteller. But it was a really interesting story and we'll probably hit on that again a little bit later on. I would not like to relive it, but thank you for bringing that up again. Let me ask you. Sure. What do you think would have been worse? you know you and what happened at that point where you were humiliated uh you know after your boyfriend broke up with you and you attempted to call his mother and talk her out of it and then he finally got tired went to bed and you uh were yeah you you were a pile of crime thank you thank you on his hardwood floor while he slept and then you woke up the next morning and then sort of just
walked out of the place. Well, I left before he got up. You left before he got up. So what do you think would have been... To save that last shred of dignity. Uh-huh. That tiny, tiny, tiny little piece of this. What do you think would have been worse? That or what Lauren just did? Which would you have... Oh, it was cute. She just dropped a coffee on... Well, she's now on the floor. Yeah. Can you read through the coffee stains? Poor thing. I just saw her head pop up like, hello? Hello. Everything was neatly organized. Well, let's just make up stories then. She had it all done. I'm not laughing at her, but I know. I talked to Lauren yesterday. I know how hard she's been working. And I'm like, poor kid. Here's what I can tell you. I know that that is going to be fine. But here's what's great. Our first day on the air. Thank you, Simone. We'll talk to you a little bit. Our first day on the air here. I went to my Starbucks and it was closed and it threw me off so bad. First day I was on the air in Dallas. OK, first day I was on the air in Dallas. I opened the microphone up to do to say like my first words. And I did exactly what Lauren just did. I spilled a cup of coffee.
As I'm going on the air, I'm like, 97-1, the Eagle, glug, glug, glug, glug. Oh, my gosh. That's worse. It was bad. On the board. Yeah. It was a big board. I remember that board. And I'm like, we're grabbing newspapers. You know, I'm taking off my shirt to try to soak it up. I narrowly escaped somehow getting all into my laptop. Mikey, let me paint a picture for the listeners. There are coffee stain stories all over the floor right now. We're trying to dry them out. Printed out pieces of paper. They're all perfectly organized. They're scattered all over the floor. And poor Lauren is the color of a tangerine right now. I'll tell you this, Lauren. There's coffee all over the chair. I don't know how there's so much coffee. There's still like half of this.
I'm going to get you a straw from now on. Did it pour out of your environmentally friendly thermos that you brought in? Well, it seeped through the corn husk that it's made out of, so what do you expect? Yeah, part of the problem is that your thermos is made out of a corn husk. It's not the strongest fibers. Oh, Lauren. That was so bad, and the webcam's not up today. Thank goodness, right? Cheers, Lauren. Yeah, breathe. I'm sure this is not as funny to anybody that's out there listening, but that was just ridiculous. You'd have to know Lauren, too, because she's so organized and sort of a perfectionist. Is it safe to say, Lauren, that you're a perfectionist? With certain things, yeah. She's very poised. She's always very poised. She's very classy.
Very classy, very poised, very well put together. Well put together. You know. And so, Lauren. I'm so tangled. It's okay. It's okay. You're fine. Okay. Don't worry. I'll tell you what I'll do. I'm going to put on a long block of nonstop. A long block of nonstop music that'll just really calm you down. Some stuff that I think will... Hey, let me give you some music, okay? I think that's what we need right now. Thank you, Michael Shannon. There's one from Air Supply going out to Lauren this morning. I understand Lauren's having a heck of a morning organizing her coffee-stained news stories. And this one's going out to you from K-Wave 97 FM. This is to calm the nerves and get your morning started right. I love this song. I love it. It's being played from my gay pod right now. This is on my iPod. Dude, I love this song. I'm not embarrassed to admit it. Thank you. I'm lost in love.
I love this. I do too. You feeling all right, Lauren? I'm calm. All right. Well, let me explain. We have three of us in this morning. And Jesse, who usually works the overnight show, is filling in for Jay. So I'm the host of this show. I'm Mikey. And I am 39 years of age. And was going to wear some really cool boots today. I knew that would cheer you up, Lauren. Lauren loves mic humor. It's her favorite type of humor. It is. Like if she could find a comedian that would just do mic jokes. People are like, who's Mike? And Lauren's like, oh my gosh, you have to see this comedian. And they go see the comedian and they come back and they're like, he just did jokes about this person named Mike. And she's like, it's hilarious. I know. It was hilarious. She does love mic humor. That's good. But I didn't wear them.
Because I need you guys to become acclimated to them before I just start wearing them willy-nilly. Are they high heels? They are, aren't they? That's so uncalled for. I mean, just absolutely not necessary. No, they're not high heels. Okay? But I thought, you know what? Let's just ease into those. You know, let's ease into those. Well, today would have been the day, Mike. Sienna's not here. It's true. Today would have been the day. I almost wore a bright red shirt. Yeah. Because I knew I could get away with it today. Yeah. Yeah, I know. Well, I'm the host of the show. Here's who is usually on the Mikey Show. It's myself, our boy Woods, our girl Lauren, our girl Sienna, and our boy Jay. But Jay is out of town, and Sienna's getting married tomorrow. Many?
And so they're both gone. So today it's myself, Woodsy, and Lauren. And Jesse is filling in for Jay today. Jesse's usually the overnight guy. So he's filling in and we'll be talking to him in a bit. You can call us if you want to. 570-1949 is our phone number. And you can also text us 949mikey at gmail.com. Lauren has been fanning the... news stories for the last five minutes. Smells like Starbucks in here. Yes, it does smell like Starbucks if Starbucks had gone all natural and decided to grow their coffee beans in a hut somewhere in India. Don't they? You know what I mean? You can give us a call though, 570-1949. Lots of things happening right now in the news. One of them is the
SeaWorld story. And the deal is, is that a woman was killed at SeaWorld in Orlando. And because of it, they shut down some of the place, you know, all the other SeaWorlds in the country. There's one in San Antonio, one here in San Diego. And they are closed. And is there any more details that are coming out or anything like that, Lauren? You know, basically what they said is they're going to. Keep the whale, even though they've been facing, I guess there's bloggers and all kinds of critics saying that they should either be letting the animal back into the wild or, like Wood said the other day, putting it down like a dog that attacks humans. So right now they're just basically saying that, for now, they're going to suspend all of the orca shows. I wonder what they do to the whale. Do they keep it in the same pen? I don't even know what this stuff is called. Is it a pen? A tank? Tank. It's a tank, yep. Keeping it in the same tank? Yep. You don't, like, pull it aside? I don't know if they sequester it or, you know, put it. And like we talked about the other day, you can't. A holding tank. Like a holding tank. I'm very familiar with a holding tank. I'm not in on it. I know you are. I'm not in on it. You guys know who the animal expert Jack Hanna is? Absolutely. He said this. That wouldn't even enter my mind, putting the whale down. Killing might have been doing what was natural.
You know, because a lot of the behaviors that these whales do at SeaWorld are the same behaviors I see in the wild. Well, yeah, of course. They're wild animals. Oh, I understand, Jack. In other words, you're seeing this. You're seeing a lot of the same behavior that you see in the wild, unlike a lot of wild animals that are in captivity. Right. That speak English. And the policy has been explained to them. Hey, guys, this ain't Africa. We're good. We got it. We got it. Yeah. Yeah. Excuse me, Mr. Lion. You realize that just want to before we allow the public to play with you, we just want to explain to you that things are different here than they were in Zimbabwe. Oh, OK. Point taken. Well, I haven't even explained. Oh, OK. Please let me explain. See, I'm glad we are going through this process. Had we just let you in right now, you wouldn't even have known what the rules were. So before you go in. You are not allowed to eat anything unless we give it to you. Does that make sense? Yeah, I guess. So what that means is that there may be people playing with you, pulling your ears, having fun with you. Okay? We don't want you to eat them like you would. Sounds fun. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, we don't want you to eat them like you would in the wild. And so what we're going to do is we're going to put you in here, have fun and everything. Just don't do anything that comes naturally. That sounds rad. I'm in. Yeah. That's exactly what's happened.
Should the killer whale show be shut down? This is Jack Hanna responding to that question. I hope and pray that SeaWorld continues their work. I know that Don would want the same thing. Hey, listen, SeaWorld is great. I think it's great that they do these shows. These shows don't, nothing bad goes on, you know, for the most part. But all I'm saying is that when it does, it's not shocking, really. I think they treat, obviously, they treat the animals very well, as far as we know. I mean, it seems that they treat the animals very well. Every now and then, when you're dealing with wild animals and things like that, things are going to happen that are beyond our control. A hundred percent. You know? A hundred percent. M1 Drew, are you there? Let's see. Wait a minute. There you are. What's going on? About five minutes ago, I don't know. It might even be the same time Lauren did. I just spilled coffee all over my truck. I mean, everywhere. So I just wanted to let... Lord, no, she's not alone. Oh, thank you, Drew. That's fantastic. Amazing. Thank you, man. Oh, yeah. Thank you. And M1 is a Mikey Show listener. And you belong to the M1 Nation. If you're an M1, you belong to the M1 Nation. And we appreciate you listening. The first preliminary ratings for the Mikey Show came out yesterday and were phenomenal. And very blessed. So happy about it and really stoked. And just want to say...
Thank you to, you know, especially like the 949 listeners that have sort of gone through the process with us. And kind of are digging us, maybe in the very beginning, not sure, and now are digging us. I really appreciate that. And so we're glad to have you with us. And also, thank you to Mikey Show listeners who used to listen to me when I was on Rock 105 that are listening to me now. and uh that have come over i really really love it and i just want to say thank you to them too uh and are listening to this new crew that we've put together uh we appreciate it and we're real stoked so uh 570-1949 or text us 949 mikey at gmail.com uh let's see mikey just wanted to ask a question uh about your boots are they as classy as Hannah Storms. That's M1 Tomahawk Chop. Genius. Yeah, they are. They're just as classy. Are they red? No, they're not. Are they knee-high? No, they're not. Are they mid-calf? No, they're not mid-calf. Let's just snort it. Okay. Let's see. How are you feeling now, Lauren? Are you doing better? Yeah, I'm doing better. Still catching my breath.
I think the papers are drying, so. She took a shot of Irish whiskey, so she's fine. My nerves are a lot better now. That's right. So, oh, Andrew Koenig. This was the guy from Growing Pains that was missing. Well, apparently he committed suicide, and they now know about it. And what's the deal? By the way, did you know that his dad played Chekhov? on uh star trek did you know i would not have known that until the story came out yeah that's the deal and uh but anyway they what did they find him or how did they yeah actually a bunch of his friends conducted their own search um they went to a place called stanley park in vancouver where apparently he was known to go on a lot of walks um and they found him they found his body and then his father released a statement saying that you know my son took his own life there wasn't a whole lot of details about
you know, how or anything like that. But apparently, you know, he's, uh, he suffered with depression for a while now. Yeah. Um, he actually sent his parents a letter last week where they said, you know, it was in a despondent tone. Is that how you pronounce that? Yeah. Um, and, uh, apparently he had stopped taking his medication for depression. That's sad. Yeah. It's a very sad story, but there's, I mean, at least there's a resolution to it and he was missing. And so that's a good thing that he's back. I feel terrible. I, you know, and I don't think I was the only one. We were talking about this story earlier in the week. And, you know, the guy played a character named Boner, which was pretty funny. Like, that was kind of a risque name. I mean, even back then. And I remember sitting in here laughing about it. And when I saw it come across my computer last night, my heart sank. Yeah. It sank. And I got really upset. And I even texted Lauren. I was like, I feel like a turd for even laughing at it. So my apologies. Here's the deal, man. It's heavy. This is what I love about Woodsy. Woodsy, there's a lot of people that probably wouldn't say what you just said. Killed me. You know what, man? I think that's cool. And I think, yeah, I think that there's a lot of people that wouldn't even say that. They killed me. So, you know, my prayers are with his family right now.
It's a very sad story, but anyway, there is resolution to it. That's the deal with it. And this is a crazy story that I'm going to give you in just a minute. But apparently there was a guy that had been in jail for quite a while. Eight years. Actually, Mikey. What? I screwed that up. He was sentenced to eight years. Oh, but he didn't actually go? He didn't serve that eight years, but he was sentenced to it. Guy got sentenced to eight years, and thank goodness they found out what they found out. Now, what I'll tell you is it has to do with all this stuff that's been going on with Toyota. Give you an explanation next. You're listening to The Mikey Show. The Mikey Show on FM 94.9.

Yeah, it's not greasy. Not greasy at all. My buddy Mark tried them. What'd you think, Mark? I tried the El Pastor tacos. What's up with the pineapple? Let me tell you about the El Pastor tacos, man. We marinated for 24 hours. and then we grill it with grilled pineapple. Delicious, sweet, sour, spicy, all at the same time. Hey, Brian from the Nervous Records. What are you doing here hanging out with Mark and Caesar? Hey, Tim Piles. We're just eating some food. Really? Are you sure you're not cutting a commercial? No, man, we're just having a conversation. It's incredible. One of the best stories I've ever heard. It was really cool. There's pictures of it and everything. He loved you, dude. It was fun. He loved you. I really liked having him in. I did too. So here's the deal. Under normal conditions, I may say, yeah, that whole healthcare summit, unless there was something really, really ginormous that came out of it, I don't know that I'm really interested. Except that there was something that was kind of big that happened. President Obama and John McCain decided that they were going to get after it with each other. People are angry. We promised them change in Washington. And what we got was a process that you and I both said we would change in Washington. They want us to go back to the beginning. They want us not to do this kind of legislation. Somebody close the window. Not just for some people that live in Florida or happen to live in other favorite states. Let me just make this. Is that a tea kettle? Because we're not campaigning anymore. So we can spend the remainder of the time with our respective talking points going back and forth.
Supposed to be talking about insurance. They really did, man. They mixed it up for like five minutes. They just got after each other. And that was kind of cool because there was a couple of points where President Obama, in a move that I don't think you ever hear, he actually admitted that, yeah, you know, maybe you've got a good point about a couple of the things that you're saying. And I thought that was kind of cool. 570-1949 is the number. You can also... Text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. So, Lauren, tell me about this guy. He was sentenced to eight years in prison. Did he actually do some time? Yeah, he's actually in prison right now. This article doesn't say the date, but it said back at his 2007 trial, he was sentenced by a jury to eight years in prison. But now, since everything's coming out... He's pressing to get his case reopened. And there's actually relatives of the victims because he killed, I believe it was three people. Wow. In an accident. In an accident because he said that he had done everything he could do to stop the car and the accelerator. You know, he insisted that he slammed on the brakes and nothing happened. The car was just moving out of control. People were like, yeah, right. Can you imagine? That was a terrible thing. And you're completely innocent. You know you did what you did.
Nobody's believing you. You get sentenced. You go to prison. I mean, that's just an unbelievable deal. It's incredible. So what's going to happen now? Well, like I said, the victims are actually believing that he's innocent, and they're pushing. Can you imagine? Incredible. That's awesome. Relatives of the victims, I'm sorry. Yeah, and they believe he's innocent, and they are trying to have his case reopened, and they're actually planning to sue Toyota. Wow. That's awesome, man. I love to hear that. I love to hear that a family is actually coming to a guy's defense like that. That's cool. And, yeah, you know, according to this article and probably common sense, there's going to be a lot of cases like this that come out, you know, probably with insurance cases and things like that. I don't know if they'll be to this magnitude where there was actually people killed. Yeah. But, yeah, expect some of those. That is a pretty big story that's going on today. With the auto industry. In shambles as it is now. Isn't this the absolute last thing that these guys needed? Absolutely. Nobody's buying cars anyway. Now they're not going to buy them because they don't work. Absolutely. Yesterday we introduced a new theme song for Woods Doing Sports. And it was called Woods on Sports. We did it ourselves. We sang it ourselves. Now we've gotten the Mikey Show singers to go into the studio and record this. Thank goodness. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Woods on Sports. What do you think, buddy? You like your new theme? You know I like my new theme. Of course you do. You know I like it. That's your new theme music. All right. Well, this is Woods on Sports, my man. So last night, the Canadian women's hockey, they beat the U.S. 2-0. They won the gold medal. Yeah. End of story, right? Yeah. No. Basically, after they win, they all take to the ice. They start boozing, and they start smoking cigars. These are women. Women hockey players. Are you kidding? They're blasting cigars. Are you drinking? Bad thing is some of them are 18. The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19. So the IOC, the International Olympic Committee, is looking into this saying, hey, what are you doing clowning out like that? So not only did they predict they were going to beat everybody in medals, they've now embarrassed themselves after winning a gold medal. How do you embarrass yourself after you win a gold? You're saying that it's embarrassing for a bunch of Canadian women to be boozing and blasting cigars out in the middle of the ice? After they won a gold medal.
In their home country. Yeah, I'd say that's a little embarrassing. Imagine your girlfriend comes home that night after winning her gold medal. You give her a big smooch. She's like, oh, dude. You're like, ooh, this is so weird. It's like you've been smoking cigars or something. Were you making out with Bob Hope? That's so filthy, dude. So you stay classy, Canada. In a really touching story out of the Olympics, there's an ice skater named Joni Rochette. She's a Canadian. She won a bronze medal in figure skating last night. But the big story was her mother came to watch her and her mother kind of coached her along. And Joni's even said, my mother was a huge pain in the ass. She was a very tough coach. Joni's mother passed away when she got to Vancouver to watch her daughter perform in the Olympics. So Joni went out and she skated last night and won a bronze. Here's what her mother taught her. You could step on that ice and be tough because that's what my mom taught me all of her life. Isn't that awesome, dude? That's such a cool story. I know. It was very, very cool.
That's why I love sports, dude, is stories like that. So I'm getting, I don't know about you guys, and probably not, but I'm super excited for baseball. Weird. Yeah. And the Padres have a little bit of optimism. CEO Jeff Morad addressed the team yesterday, and here's what he said. Cut to. You know, the message today was one of optimism. We're excited about the season, excited to get spring training underway, full steam ahead, and I think 0-10 is going to be a fun year for the Padres. Did you hear that? O-10? O-10. I think that is. What do you say? 2010. I don't like that. 2010, 2010. Not O-10. I'm an O-10-er. You're not an O-10-er. You're a three-tenner, but you're not. You're one of the three-tenners, but you're not an O-10-er. I think the O-10 makes sense. I think it's awful. It doesn't make any sense. O goes before a single digit. Ten is a double digit. Yeah, but we. We need to be able to call this period that we're in something. So 011, 012, 013. What are we going to call the next 10 years? What are we going to call the last decade? The singles? I heard somebody call it something that I really liked. It's the... 2000s? I guess. Yeah, it's terrible. We need something, though. I want to be able to say something. You're not down with 010s, but I love it. 2010. 2010.
2010. So, Mike, let me ask you, who's the biggest clown in baseball? I would say Manny Ramirez. 100%. I just took a guess, and I figured it would be Manny Ramirez. 100%. He is one of the best hitters to ever play this game, but there has never been just a bigger clown. You know, when he played for the Red Sox, he went and urinated inside the green monster. In between. He's just a clown. In the outfield. In the outfield. He's a clown. Wasn't it during the game? Yeah, during the game. And he's like, I had to go to the bathroom. Yeah, during the game, he walked. There's a door on the green monster in the outfield. Yeah. He walked into it, urinated, came back out. They asked him, like, what were you doing? And he was like, I have to go pee. He is just such a shock value guy. And he's just, he has no filter. He's kind of like your boy here. Yeah. But, so he has a new endorsement. And it's for an energy drink. The name of this energy drink is going to blow your mind. What? First word is some, S-U-M. The next word is spelled P-O-O-S-I-E. Are you kidding me? Figure that out for yourself. I just did. This is a real story. That's a real thing? Some, P-O-O-S-I-E. Energy drink. That's really what he's... That's real. Does he have a manager? Like friends? Does he have friends? Even his mom is like, what are you doing? Stop with this.
And I do drink that called that stupidest thing I've ever heard. Do you know who Scott Van Pelt is? Yeah. He is one of my favorite SportsCenter anchors. Yeah. I think what he's doing now, I think he's got a shovel. He's in his backyard and he's digging himself a hole to climb in for a couple of weeks. Yeah. He had the worst week you could have. What happened? First of all, he got hoaxed live on the air by a Howard Stern prank caller pretending to be Brian Westbrook. That happened like a... That was a couple days ago. Yeah. Then he goes to a basketball game. He's going to kick back, blow some steam, goes to a basketball game, falls out of his chair and into the stands. It was caught on film. So everybody's been clowning on him for that. Then last night, he proceeds to drop an F-bomb live on the air after he thought they went to commercial. No way. So Tony Kornheiser's like, yes. Oh, yes. Thank goodness. Oh, that's brutal. That's Woods on sports. Just happened? That just happened to him? Yeah, last night. That's the end of his week? That's great. Okay, I'm glad that one's over. You think he'll be having a beverage or two this evening? Dude, it's pretty rough. Speedball or two? Yeah. Did you hear about Woods' day yesterday, Lauren? I did not. Well, I saw you. She saw a little bit. I saw the beginning of the end. Yeah. Might as well have a t-shirt that just says, Only Woods. I'm sure there will be one by the end of the show. Only Woods.
So Woods goes downstairs to leave, to go home yesterday, and finds that his car won't start, right? Killed me. Just won't turn over. I go down. We had a long meeting yesterday, so we were here pretty late for us. We were like 2, 2.30. Yeah. And I get in my car, and I'm like, I got baseball practice. I'm stoked. You'll see my boys, go hit the ball. Well, I get in my car. I try to start up, and it just goes click, click, click, click, click, click, click. Won't start. And I'm like, oh, dude. So I go up and grab Garrett, who's our program director, a.k.a. Dr. Evil. And Dr. Evil reaches into his desk and pulls out jumper cables from his desk. He looks like Dr. Evil. He had jumper cables in his desk? Steve, I've got some jumper cables. Yeah, hang on. I've got just the thing for you. Scott Shannon gave me these. Yeah, Scott Shannon is a former program director in Philadelphia who actually... Among some other things, he told me to always keep a pair of jumper cables in your car. In fact, he had a phrase for it. He said, rumple cable, tumple cable, you got to have your jumper cable. So I always remember that phrase, rumple cable, tumple cable, you got to have your jumper cable.
Garrett, can you tell me more about Barsky? Yeah, yeah. Barsky was a guy that I knew back in Philadelphia. I told you this story, the guy back in Philadelphia? Maybe once or twice, but I like hearing it. DJ I knew back in Philadelphia. Glad you brought Barsky up because Barsky actually one time, I jumped his car in the middle of Watts. This was 1974. Guy ran out of gas. Did I tell you this story already? You're laughing, so I figured out. No, this is amazing. I told you this story once already. Sorry about that. Anyway, here, let me just do it. There you go, Woods. Enjoy. So, and then I go grab Mr. Fix-It Jeremy, who's our engineer. He's amazing. And because I don't know how to jump a car. I have no idea. Are you serious? I would have died. I would have died if I tried it myself. I wouldn't be here. Really? Yeah. So we get my car jumped. And what I realized probably drained my car is I leave Tom Tom girl plugged in at all times. Uh-oh. It's always plugged in, and I think in that with my iPod charger, too, I think it just drained my battery. Completely drained your battery. TomTomGirl got me. TomTomGirl, what's the deal? Don't you have some feature where you can turn yourself off? Speaking of getting turned off, I got a little bit turned on in my date. Oh, that's right. Yeah, for those of you that don't remember, TomTomGirl went on a date with the movie phone guy, which is really cool.
So how are things going with the movie phone guy? Well, Mikey, I've got to say it was most riveting experience. It was most riveting experience. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so you guys went out a few nights ago. And then how's it been going since then? Are you guys keeping in contact? Well, Mikey, here's the thing. It's sort of awkward. I think he's doing that thing that guys do where they wait several days before giving me a call back. Do you hate it when guys... Don't you hate it when guys do that? Why don't they just call you right away? Right, exactly. I've talked about this before. I've been that guy that gets the phone number and calls that night, which they hate. I'm like, why the hell did you give me your phone? No, they don't hate that. They're like a stalker. I think they kind of do. But it's got to be upsetting, right, TomTom Girl, because you want him to call yet. And you're like, well, why did I even give you my number if you're not even going to call it, right? Exactly. And I stayed up all night in Woods' car. Sorry about that, Woods. Yeah, I know. You drained my battery. Yeah, so you were like all tripped out and you were like nervous purvis, right? Waiting for him to call. And it kept you nervous and you forgot to turn yourself off. I did, Mikey. And I do believe that he's drained my heart.
That's so sad. I'm sad about that. That is so sad. Well, don't drain my battery anymore, please. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If the next time that happens, just tell Woods, hey, I'm upset right now. Please turn me, please power me down. I believe so. And I'm sorry about that. I let my emotions get the best of me. I can hear it in. I can too. I can hear it in your programmed voice. I can too. I didn't even know I had emotions. Yeah. Well, part of the deal is, is that you don't. You don't. But because I think that you've had the influence of being around all of us, being on the air here at FM 94.9, I think that you're starting to develop some of those emotions that you've just never felt before. It's true, Mikey. I think hearing all that weeping that you do has really gotten to me. Really? Sorry to throw you under that proverbial bus. Oh, really? Oh, really? That's what you're going to play? Oh, yeah, yeah. I can't see too well. Is that Mikey? It's a familiar sound. Shut your recorded mouth. Don't forget to power me down, Woods. Okay. Thank you, though. Thank you. It's just a joke anyway, I guess. What's the matter with you people? I was joking. That's right. Don't you know a joke when you hear one? Of course I do.
So that's the latest on TomTom Girl. And we'll probably call the movie phone guy at some point just to see, you know, his end of it. Well, since he won't pick up the phone and call her back. Yeah, you're supposed to. You're just supposed to. You know, you don't have to do that. Here's the deal. That dude, he's trying to play cool. And that's what guys try to do. I've never been able to play anything cool in my life. Ever. Yeah. I'm that clown. I don't do it. I don't go by the standard things. You know, when I used to date, I didn't go by the standard things. Even with Rebecca, I didn't. My wife, I didn't just, I didn't do any of that stuff where you wait the three days or you do all those. It killed me. Like, I'd be pacing. Like, can I call yet? Can I call yet? Because I really, like, if you meet somebody and you really like them or they're really hot and, you know, you want to get things moving. Yeah. Why wait? Well, not only that, I think that it's insincere. I think that waiting the three days is insincere. I think so, too. It's not what's in your heart, so why do it? Now. If what's in your heart is to call her that same night, just know you can. The consequence is that she may think that you're desperate and weird, which in my situation, you know, I was. Me too. So, you know, she actually found that kind of, you know. Endearing. Endearing. Yeah. Endearing. You know, Rebecca remembers the exact moment that she fell in love with me. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She says, I remember when something changed for me. Awesome. And I said, what was it? You know what it was? What?
I told her I told her I revealed something about myself. I told her that sometimes when I'm having a hard time falling asleep, I imagine myself in a pod. And the lid closes on the pod. And I imagine Woods is starting to look at me right now like I'm a marsupial in Australia. He's looking at me with curiosity and fascination. His face changed for a second. Like he was looking at me normal. And then just the tiniest hint of a smile formed on the side of his mouth. And then he got this look on his face like, oh, wow, I've never actually seen a koala in real life. I've never been this close to one. I've never been this close. I've never been this close. I've seen them on TV. I've seen things like you on TV, but I've never actually touched one. And I said, then I would imagine that I can't look at Lauren when I tell her stories. Why? Because the smile that you get says to me, I'm judging you. And so I can't.
I can't keep looking at it too long because I know what's behind those eyes. That's so weird because that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm judging you. So I told her that I would imagine that oxygen was coming into the pod and that I was breathing the oxygen and it was giving me very restful sleep and that I would fall asleep. And she said that she thought that that was so weird. This is the way she phrases it. She says, that was so weird when you said that to me that I thought to myself, he could only be mine. You know what's even weirder? What? I'm going to try that. Yeah. Tonight. Yeah, I do that. So thank you very much. Hey, Mike. Yeah. One of my good buddies is turning 35 today. I wanted to say happy birthday.
to my boy Rochelle Turner, nickname of Old Dirt. Happy birthday, playa. Old Dirty Ro. I don't even want to know. No, you don't. You don't want to know why they call him Dirty Ro. I definitely don't. And you're being inappropriate. Of course, that's why. Weird. Of course, that's the reason that they call him that. Okay, here's what we're going to do. This probably won't surprise very many people, but Bob Barker, if you didn't know, Bob Barker, former Price is Right host. is a big-time animal activist, okay? So what do you think he had to say about the SeaWorld deal? We will play you the audio. This is the new home of The Mikey Show, FM 94.9. Verizon is the best destination for great family value. 570-1949. And the text, if you want to get a hold of us by text, is 949Mikey at gmail.com. I am really trying to get the picture of Lauren's stuff, Lauren's all her papers, trying to get it loaded onto the Mikey Show fan page. I have to. Kind of. Yeah. Sienna does a lot of work. Yeah, she does, but. That I didn't know about. I think you're doing great. Thank you. I do too. I think you're doing just fine. I mean, I knew she did it, but I didn't know how confusing it could get. Yeah. It can get a little bit confusing. It can get, you know, it can get hectic. This probably isn't going to surprise a lot of people, but Bob Barker, who is a animal activist. was very outspoken about what just happened at SeaWorld with the death of the young lady. And he went on Larry King Live and was talking about it. You sent a letter to the owners of SeaWorld urging them to set up a firm and rapid plan to release all of its orcas and other marine mammals to sanctuaries. Why do you feel that's the best response to yesterday's tragedy? Well, I don't believe that whales belong in these tiny tanks. that they are kept in. I think that they belong in the ocean where nature intended for them to be. These tanks for a whale are about like having one of us in a bathtub told that we have to learn some tricks and if we do our tricks well enough that we will be fed. That makes a good point. Yeah, it makes sense, doesn't it? Doesn't it? I think so. I think that that...
You know, I didn't hear anything there that didn't make sense to me. Didn't sound too outrageous. But, you know, there's going to be people that say, listen, if that were the case, then why would they have done this for so many years and it's gone great and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It may be the thing. It may be true. But the guy makes a good point. He does. That's all I'm saying. I didn't know you were still alive. You ever written... Did you just say, I didn't know? I didn't. He's still alive. He's like 107. He's not. He's 104. 104. Okay. Gotcha. Have you ever written a fan letter? Oh, dude. You're really going to ask me? Yeah. Like tens of 20s. Have you really? Yes. My little brother and I got really into collecting baseball cards when we were younger. And we used to write all kinds of players. What you do is you get the media guide for the NFL. And then you can write the Rams and ask them, you know, write their players and ask them for an autograph. And we used to get autographs in the mail all the time. Nolan Ryan sent me an autograph. But my most embarrassing, and I can't believe I'm going to admit it, but I'm going to. And that's what I'm looking for. That's what you want? The embarrassing ones. Okay. You ready? Yeah. Do you remember the show Silver Spoons? Yeah, Ricky Schroeder. Rick Schroeder. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. Do you remember anything that you said to him? Just how.
How cool I thought he was. Really? And what a cool show it was. And would he please send me an autographed picture? And he did. And my brother's best one that he got, he had to do a story in like sixth grade on his hero. You know who his hero was? Who? Chevy Chase. Oh, wow. That's not funny. That's awesome. Dude, and Chevy Chase sent my brother an autographed picture. Really? Yeah, it was rad. That's fantastic. Do you know where the photo is now? I think my brother probably still has his Chevy Chase. What about you? No. You don't still have your Rick Schroeder? Come on, dude. I didn't even bring my wallet this morning. Okay? Much less my Rick Schroeder. He has it hanging in the office and he chucks it gently on the chin every morning. Yeah, exactly. That is Jesse, by the way. The soothing sounds of Jesse. It's our boy Jesse. Works the overnight shift and is really cool. Came in here and he's going to help us out this morning for Jay. Yeah, I'm up way past my bedtime. It's got to be, right, Jesse? It's crazy. There's this glowing thing up in the sky nobody told me about. Yeah, no, dude never sees the sun. He's like one of those guys from Twilight. Oh, no, wait. They're around in the day, right? No. They sparkle.
That's what I know about them. And vampires in Jesse world do not sparkle. Jesse, have you ever written a fan letter in your life? Nothing I can think of. More recently, the Twitter thing allows a direct access to being ignored by the famous people. And that's exactly what it is, right? Yep. Yeah. Do you guys remember on MTV, do you remember a VJ back in the day named Kennedy? Absolutely. See the glasses and the curly hair? Yeah. Yeah, I wrote her a fan letter. Did you tell her to stop yelling? No. Why? Did she say how much she wanted me? No. The letter I wrote reeked of desperation. Are you kidding? How old were you? 20. Mikey! I know. I was like 7. Please be gentle. 20? Yeah. I was getting real girls at 20, dude. That, I guess, would be another difference between you and I. I wasn't. I was writing Kennedy a desperate, stalky letter. Oh, it's Michael Shannon. I really like your glasses. They're kind of like mine. Are yours cosmetic, too? Actually, mine are identical to yours. Yeah, I wrote her an email. I wrote her a letter. Sorry, dude. Handwritten letter.
You know, and I was like, hey, I just want to say I really like what you do. Michael. It's so humiliating. It's so humiliating. I'm humiliated for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you ever did this, by the way, call us right now. If you wrote somebody a fan letter and it was embarrassing. Like now as you look back on it, like when I said, have you ever written a fan letter? Your brain went, oh, I can't say mine. You're the one I want to call 570-1949. Did either of our guests write any? Did you guys write any? No, you didn't. You did? Yeah? No. She's looking at us. She's incredulous that we would even ask. Here's what's fantastic. The girl that's in the studio right now because she cried on her boyfriend's floor all night long. Yeah, but she never wrote a fan letter. She looked at us like, what am I, a loser over here? Like, what do you think I am? She gave us one of those looks. I'm not that low. Oh, man. Did you do it, Lauren? Did you write anybody a fan letter? Absolutely. You did? Yeah. I think every single member of New Kids on the Block. Did you really? Oh, no. So not just one of them, but you would write, like, individually? Yeah. I would go through phases, and I think a lot of girls can probably attest to this, where, like, which one was my favorite. Really? It wasn't always one person? No. Wasn't always Joey McIntyre? No. He was my last one. We have a listener in the studio named Simone. Let me get her up to the microphone.
You were the New Kids in the Black era? I was. How old are you? I'm 30. And Lauren is 29. So it was definitely the same time. Yeah. And so did you, Simone, did you have a favorite new kid? Okay, here's the thing. I didn't have a favorite new kid, but I had a favorite NSYNC guy. Don't say JT. Okay, I'll tell you who it is, and it's going to, you wouldn't even guess it. Who? Lamps. Oh, sad for you. Totally bummed to know that he wouldn't have been interested? I had a poster of him on my wall in college. In college. He likes... He likes... He likes dudes. Yeah, yeah. Anyways, no, but I did like New Kids as well. Well, who... Hey, girl, you didn't like Justin Timberlake? Oh, yes. Lauren, doing it. That is awesome. Lauren, who was your favorite? Well, the first one was Jordan Knight. Yes. Then I went to Donnie Wahlberg. Then I went to Joey Knight. Is that his name? No, it's Joey McIntyre. Why do I know that? Which one's Jordan's brother? The one that was kind of unattractive. Don't know. Oh. Something other. McKnight. So you wrote fan letters. All of them. I went to a concert. Did you have a t-shirt? Oh, yeah. I had t-shirts, buttons, posters. Yeah, I had buttons, too. Shocking. Dude, right? Shocking. Really? Honestly, I would not have...
picked Lauren as a New Kids button t-shirt. No way. Never. I was obsessed. Did you see the dance I just did? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I actually, I won a talent contest at my swim club. Let's go ahead and mark that. Yes, please. Go ahead and mark that. I was dancing and singing to New Kids on the Block. Oh, oh, oh. Can we get a video of this, Mr. or Mrs. O'Brien? Like, immediately. I don't think that they're going to have it because... Oh, if your parents still had that. I was a middle child. Nothing I did was on tape. I can relate. They're like, eh. I was the fourth of four boys. Like, no pictures exist of me. Like, my parents have one police sketch artist, you know, drawing of me. Michael Shadden was believed to have looked like this. Whatever. Oh, this is a good one. M1 Honey Girl, are you there? Yeah. Who did you write? Steve Perry. I was completely in love with him. Nice. Yes. And I thought for sure that my letter would bring him to me. Yeah. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I just want to say, okay, I just, I left the belly up. I used to work at the belly up. And we were getting a letter that was circulated from a woman that it's been, was that you?
Well, I was 12. Oh, okay. This is a woman that's still campaigning. Apparently, she's been campaigning for like... Did she say Steve Perry? Yeah, Steve Perry. From Journey, right? You should have been gone! Is your name Sherry? No, but my mom used to make fun of me because of Sherry. She'd go, oh, Sherry Perry. And I'd go, no! So, do you remember... Okay, first of all, how old were you? 12. And do you remember what you said to him? Oh, it was not the specific details, just that I was super, super embarrassed when I got a little bit older, when I was maybe even one or two years older. I was very embarrassed. Are you sure that you don't remember anything that you wrote? And I'm saying, are you sure that you don't remember anything that you wrote in that letter? I probably maybe wrote that.
She does. She remembers. She does. She has it. Verbatim, she knows what she says. Give me something. It was two pages long. Oh, my gosh. Was it pen? Was it pencil? It was. Oh, it was pen. It was pen. It was pen. I remember that because I remember thinking, oh, no, he's going to think I'm an idiot because I crossed stuff out. Yeah. Did you put Steve, comma, or did you put Dear Steve? Dear Steve. Yes. Amazing. Yeah. Yes. Give me something. Tell me something you said. And I kissed the paper at the end of it with my lips. Oh, yeah, you did, girl. Did you spray it with perfume? No, I didn't, but I just gave a big old kiss with my lips, and it was so embarrassing. Oh, wow. I love that story. That's fantastic. And I told them where I lived. I told them, you know. Of course you did. How else is he going to come over if you don't tell them where you live? How is he going to come over? That's what I'm saying. And my phone number, you know, here's my phone number. Call me. Did you think maybe? I mean, who knows? Who knows? Right? Like, you know, maybe he's into, you know, 12 year old girl from Carlsbad. Yeah. Who is it? It's me. It's me. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Did you did you like the journey or just the exclusive Steve Perry?
No, I loved Journey. I loved Journey. But of course you loved the solo work as well, right? Yeah. Yeah, of course. Actually, I went to go see him in concert, but it wasn't the same thing. It just wasn't quite the same thing. But it was okay. If you've never seen Steve Perry have his jacket, he did. You know what I'm talking about? You know what I'm about to say? It's on YouTube. If you've never seen it before, it exists on YouTube. It's one of the most hysterical things I've ever seen in my life. And I'm not sure exactly what you would type into YouTube to find it, but Steve Perry used to have a jacket lowered from the ceiling onto the stage that he would put on. No way. That is a real story, and you can see it on YouTube. And if we find it, we'll post it. You do that every morning, though. Shut your mouth, all right? You do that every, like, Jesse this morning, when Mikey came in, Mikey actually gets down on one knee, and Jesse drapes this cloak over him. To get ready for the show. That's right. It's amazing. It's lowered from the ceiling. If you keep the horn section in check, that's trouble, really. That's right. That's right. That's 100% right. M1... Oh, man. I don't know if I... I can't see the whole name written here. M1 Weather... What? Weatherman. M1 Weatherman. You couldn't say man, Mike? It's not... The whole thing doesn't fit on the screen. So it's Weather M. Weather M. So who did you write a letter to?
Well, when I was 10, I had this obsession with washing my hair because I had, like, this long blonde hair. And I wrote to the makers of VO5 shampoo. And I told them how much I loved it. And I actually, like, drew a man that was a VO5 shampoo bottle. And it was going to be, like, their icon. Oh, my God. Dude. And they actually wrote me back, and they were like, this is cool, you know, we'll keep it on file. Maybe one day we can use it. They were really cool about it, but I was, like, obsessed with it. With VO5. I was much, much more into Vidal Sassoon back at that time. Well, I'm from Arizona, and we bought the cheapest stuff, and I'm Jewish. So, I mean, it's just like... What does that have to do with it? Yeah, what does that have to do with it? That's what my dad says, why we use VO5. Dear VO5. Dear VO5. What's your name, dude? P1 Weatherman. Dear VO5, my name is not P1 Weatherman, but I'm too embarrassed to give it. And I just wanted to tell you. What'd you say? I said, I know my whole office is listening right now. That's fantastic.
And I'm in the Marine Corps. Oh, man. It must have hurt to have to cut those locks off for the Marine Corps, right? Oh, I'm bald now, so it doesn't really matter. Oh, man. How ironic that a bald guy's calling in to tell us about how he wrote a fan letter to VO5. Yes. Thank you for the call, because I have to say the rest with you. Not on the phone. Love you guys. Love you. Can't have him on the phone for a while. Imagine your VO5. I'm VO5. Yeah, you're Mr. VO5. And you've got your letter opener, okay? And you're like, yeah, let's see what we got going on today. And you take that out of that envelope. And there's this kid like, I just want to say I love you guys, man. And there's a little picture of a guy with the hair. And you're like, oh, my God. I will bet you any amount of money. that that letter and that picture hung in that office as a joke for the next 15 years. Guaranteed. No, it's still there, dude. Like, dude, really? Most kids write football players. He wrote a shampoo bottle. He's like, you know who I wrote? I'm like, who, Mean Joe Green? No, no. Dear Irish Spring, I couldn't be happier with the way your soap makes me smell in the morning.
He was like, you know what? Forget about the Nelson twins. Yeah. I've got the new role model for you. Dear Menon. Dear Jovan Musk. I just want to say that the way that you're able to impart soft sandalwood with a touch of musk and just the right touch of musk. I've I've also included a picture of me wearing the mask. It's just a picture of him standing there. It's just standing there. This is a photograph of me wearing Giovanni. Dear Massingill. You know they get it. No way. That's got to be the only one ever. No, it is not. If you've written a product, call us. If you've ever written a product, and I'm not talking a mad letter. If you've ever, because now we're on to something new. This is great. You ever written a product to say, hey, you know what? You're great. You're awesome. You're awesome.
And I just want to let you know you're awesome. And they probably sent you like, that dude must, I bet he got some VO5 in the mail. Like a little bottle? Yeah. I wonder. A restraining order. Please do not ever use our shampoo again. Right. Creep. M1 Danny, what up, dude? Hold on. You guys are probably off the topic now, I guess. No, no, no. We're still on it. All right. Just a second. All right. I used to be huge in writing. A bunch of celebrities like Bob Saget and Steve Urkel and all that stuff. Bob Saget and Steve Urkel? So you were the one guy that sent a fan letter to Steve Urkel. The one dude. Wait a minute. What's worse? Writing a letter to Steve and Urkel or not getting a response? That's worse. That's worse, right? That's got to be worse. That's got to be worse. But anyway, so what's the deal? responded and he had like, um, like he wrote out everything on the back, like be good to your tools and all that stuff he says on the show, like RRR and all that stuff. And then, um, I checked like a magazine, like literally like two or three days later. And it said that him and like 95% of the people that end up, celebrities that send out their pictures, they have someone else sign it for them. Are you serious? Yeah, it was, I was just,
completely upset. Actually, we got a couple back. I actually got one back from Bob Saget, too, and his was fake, too. It was all signed by the same guy, almost. At least he's kind of a celebrity. If you wanted his autograph, you can send out for it. Wow, dude. So there's one dude sitting in the full house just signing autographs. Urkel. Bob Saget. Uncle Joey. Yeah, Uncle Joey. That's fantastic, man. If you've ever written... a product, or a celebrity, and you're embarrassed about it, you're embarrassed, like now as you look back on it, you're embarrassed, call us. 570-1949. It's time for the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report. Two, one. What's going on? This is Evan from Surfline.com with the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report for a Friday morning. Brought to you by Goya Kierbamata. You can warm yourself up before surf with a nice glass of tea. Still plenty of surf to be had. Most breaks were seen in the waist-to-head high range. With the better spots seen, occasional overhead sets. Right now, tide's a little too high, but at the beach breaks, we're seeing a couple good inside waves of structured areas. But look for the shape and size to improve as the tide drops up towards around 1.32 o'clock into the negative, making the reef breaks and everything like that have a little bit more shape and a little more playful. That's awesome. You can call us if you want to. 570-1949 is our number. Or if you want, you can text us. Text. It's 949mikey at gmail.com. I love some of the text that we're getting. And, of course, people are embarrassed. They don't want to say who they are. So I won't say it. I'm one Kirk. Says, Mikey, I'm 23, but I have wanted to write Jeff Goldblum. And have hunted for his address and have never found it. I don't know. When you are a fan of somebody, I wonder how you do it. How you find out how to write them. Nowadays, everybody has websites. So you can find out how to directly contact them as a fan. I got an email from Tommy Lee that I thought was pretty cool. How'd you get an email from him? When he went to do Methods of Mayhem, there was a website. And I wrote him and he wrote me back.
And you could tell it was Tommy Lee. Dude, bro, thank you so much, dude. It was awesome. That's pretty cool. Isn't that cool? Yeah. Because I think I was like one of three people that actually liked Methods of Mayhem. Probably didn't get a lot of fan mail. Yeah, please call us or text us if you've ever written someone and then you're embarrassed about it. Or if you have written to a product. Somebody said... M1DC said, Mikey, great show. I wrote to Fred Savage when he was on The Wonder Years. Oh, my gosh. And he sent me back an autographed picture of the whole crew. Listen, I think it pays off for you. I mean, I think if you do it, they send you stuff. You know, and there's good stories, too. Donnie, who's one of our sales guys, said he wrote Steve Austin, who was a $6 million man. Yeah. He got sent an action figure, an autographed photo, and a patch. Are you kidding? That is killer. That's a lot of stuff. That's a lot of stuff, dude. That's killer. I would trip out. Can you imagine getting that package and just be like, just flipping out? Yeah. Isn't that cool? For sure. Lauren, you never got anything back from any of those new kids? No. That's weak. Probably because of just the pure bulk of letters that they got. Or just the fact that they're giant clowns. Could be the other reason. There's too much. There's too much. You can't sort through it all. M1 Emily.
What's going on? Well, when I was 10 years old, I wrote a letter to the candy company that made Warheads. Remember the candy? Oh, yeah. Really sour, really hot. Lauren, you remember that? Oh, yeah, absolutely. I do not. But what did you say? What did you say to them? Well, I got a package of the sour apple ones, and in the package there was a candy that was strawberry flavored. I'm assuming it was a manufacturing accident, whatever. Right. And I hated strawberry flavor, and it made me sick. I threw up when I ate this candy. Right. And so I wrote them a letter, and I'm an artist, and so I drew a picture of Wally Warhead, the little guy, puking strawberries. Awesome. But they responded to me, and they sent me a Wally Warhead doll, a Warhead t-shirt, and a new bag of sour apples. That's awesome. That's cool. So cool. That's cool. Thank you for the call. Of course. You're welcome. Have a good day. You too. Thank you very much. Angel. Yeah, 570-1949. Okay, so check this out. We were talking the other day about how...
There was a Superman comic that sold for a whole bunch of money. And now I guess a Batman comic has sold for a whole bunch of money. And we're going to tell you about it in a little bit because I want Jesse to be in on the conversation. He's got to be. Yeah. Jesse used to be a comic book salesperson. Really? Yeah. He's also like Encyclopedia Britannica. Yeah. The dude knows. I'm like. I wonder who manufactured these plastic caps on the top of this water bottle. He's like, oh, those come from Finland. Yeah, exactly. He's like, that's a triple M product. You're like, what? It's incredible. Yeah. But he really does. He knows a little bit about everything. But it turns out, Jesse, can you hear me? Here he goes. Jesse, can you hear me? Can you hear me now? Now. How about now? There you go. That's the one. So we're talking about the Superman, the Batman comic. And you used to be a comic book salesperson, right? I used to run a comic store here in town, yeah. And so when Lauren said off the air, before we went on the air, she said that there was a Batman comic that sold for how much, Lauren? This is a record amount of $1,075,000. Oh, my gosh. $1,075,000. And which one did you think it was, Jason? Detective 27.
And he was exactly right. Weird. Now, let me understand this. Detective 27 was the name of it? Yeah, and it's where Batman made his official debut. And he was only on six pages, but hey, he made his debut. So, Jesse, if you had that comic book, in order for it to be worth a lot, it has to be perfect condition, right? Well, any one of them. If you can find one at all, it's going to be worth a couple bucks. Yeah, it says here there's only 50 to 100 that even exist. And they are all known. It's tracked. People know who has each one. It's not like something that it just disappears into private hands and nobody knows. These things are tracked. You ever see one? Yeah, you ever see one? No. Really? What about the Superman we talked about the other day? Never. Only pictures. They're that rare? Yeah. Wow. Listen. It's worth going through your stuff and seeing if your grandpa left anything. No doubt. Well, like Jesse said, this was not really like a fluke. Somebody found it. These were like serious collectors. This guy actually bought it back in 1960s, in the 1960s, for $100. And now he's turned it around. But both the seller and the buyer wish to remain anonymous. I bet in the 1960s when he bought it, he was like...
I can't believe I'm spending $100 on this freaking comic book. I can't believe. She's like, where's that $100? What's the matter with you? He's like, look, Detective 27. She's like, get. Get. Yeah. She's just pilfering and squandering our money. Exactly. Now he's like, hey, we're going to buy a country. What do you think now? She's like, you're wonderful, dear. It's great. It's a great decision that you made. Your wife used stuff, Woods, of yours. Does she use any of your stuff? Dude, you know the answer to this. Of course, right? I use her stuff. Oh, you use her stuff. Yeah. So she doesn't take your... No? I'm like, can I... I'm out of secret. Do you have any secret that I can use? Yeah. Yeah. It's brilliant. She uses her secret. Yeah, I do. And, well, how about you, Lauren? Do you use any of Matt's stuff? Surprisingly, I go both ways. Mark that down. I use his stuff, like lotion and stuff like that, because I'm just too lazy to go get my own, and I'll just... Take his. What's he? I have a question. Yeah. The day I came on the air and was listing all my products, because I used quite a few men's products. Right. I listed a couple of lotions. And I proceeded to get filleted by Lauren. She said, well, my boyfriend, all he uses is a bar of soap and a washcloth. Yeah. In the shower.
My boyfriend only uses bark. Yeah, it's actual almond bark with essential oils that scrubs his skin. Yeah, because he says that to use anything else would be girly. So he actually shaves with a sharp rock. So he does use lotion. Oh, yeah. Come to find out, dude uses some lotion. He uses, like, unscented Jergens, like, as generic as you can get. It doesn't matter what brand. It matters that he uses it. Yeah. And you use his? Yeah, because I don't care. Lotion's lotion to me, so I'll use that. But I do, the newest thing that he's been doing is, like, he'll just try stuff that's in the shower that's mine. So I have a big, like, pink scrubby loofah kind of thing. And I'll always find, it's like a big body cloth, and I find it bundled up in the shower. Really? Like, why are you using it? He's like, oh, it's cool, it exfoliates. What's, he's, I'm rubbing off on that. I know, you are.
You are. Good for you, bro. Yes. I do not touch anything that belongs to Rebecca. We don't want anything to do with it. And I want all of my stuff left alone. Not touched. Weird. Weird. Shocking. Now, just so people know, when... Woodsy says the word weird on this program. What he means to say is, really, I'm totally shocked. Sarcasm. Thick. Thick, thick sarcasm. Thick sarcasm. Weird. Weird. Yeah, I don't. And we've been married for five years. We've been dating for much longer. And she knows it. But I went into my drawer, my top drawer. Lauren finds my idiosyncrasies hysterical. Oh, it's so good. So I went into my top drawer in my sink. in the bathroom, and first of all, my Q-tips, I had to start looking around for them, which immediately... Lauren. Immediately, I'm like... You were hyperventilating. Oh, yeah, yeah. Paper bag. And I'm like, immediately, my blood pressure, I can feel my heart beating faster. Like, where are my Q-tips? And they're not where they normally are, so I'm like rummaging through the drawer, and I finally find them. They're in a little plastic...
container, and I open them up, and there's like eight left. Are you losing it? Oh, in my mind, I'm like, why, why, why, why, why, why? It's mine. Why don't you get some Q-tips, babe? How are you going to teach your son, Jake, to share? If you have, okay, I'll tell you how you teach him to share. You say, son, when you would like something, you go to the person and you say, may I have some of your Q-tips? So your beef is that she didn't ask you. You've been together 10, 12 years. Your wife, Rebecca, has to, Mike, hi, can I borrow some of your Q-tips? Excuse me. Excuse me. Some of your Q-tips? There was seven left, bro. How many do you need, pal?
Well, a hundred come in there. One and one. Lauren. Well, was the issue more that she didn't replenish them or that she used them at all? The audacity. She used them. Rebecca, you better go get Liberace some more Q-tips today or he's going to freak out. What seemed at first to be just a normal story of Q-tips missing from the top drawer turned out to be something much more sinister. Or was it? It appeared to be just a couple of Q-tips gone. It actually turned out to be somebody's wife using them, not replenishing them at all. Of course, upon further investigation, it was found that maybe she was using the Q-tips for something more than just her ears. Maybe she was using the Q-tips to drive her husband crazy. In fact, over a period of time, it was going to appear that he was losing his mind, quite literally, in front of her.
Would somebody actually go crazy from their wife using their Q-tips? Well, it appears perhaps someone would. Someone would. Dude, I'm telling you, and if there's anybody listening right now that can relate to this, 570-1949, if there's anybody that can relate to it, see if we can get Rebecca on the phone. I would like to ask her about the case of the missing Q-tips. Do I need to be the mediator? Are you going to flip out? Well, here's my thing. I say to her, honey, order 17 boxes of Q-tips. Order 17 of them. Or my toothpaste. Or my toothpaste. My toothpaste goes like that. And I go, what happened to my toothpaste? That drives me nuts, though. And she's got her toothpaste.
She likes yours. I know she does. She likes it better. It's called sharing. Baby, get 19 things of toothpaste then. It's part of commitment. We've got our own toothpastes. What's mine is yours. What's mine is hers, certainly. But just get a bunch. I'd like to point something out. Go ahead. Guarantee if Rebecca bought 19 tubes of toothpaste, by the time you got to, like, number eight, you'd be like, babe. How old's his toothpaste? Yeah. Oh, no. Yeah, this is old. How long has this been sitting in the cabinet? You know, Mentadent just came out with a new toothpaste. I have to try it. See, I don't. We got to get her on the phone. Hey, Mama Testis is here. Dude. Dude, Mama Testis is the best. We got to get Mama Testis in here. I'm starving. Mama Testis, by the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's bring him in here. This is great.
On Fridays, we have guests in the studio, and we have a couple people in the studio today. We have M1 Simone and M1 Colin. And we got the folks from Mama Testas coming in here today. How are you doing? Hey, dude, right there in the microphone. Right here. How are you doing, man? I'm doing very well, Mike. Good to see you. Good to see you, man. Good to see you, too. What's your name, bro? Cesar. Cesar Gonzalez from Mama Testas Taqueria. Dude, so check this out. I thought this was so great because... You actually appeared on Food Network with Bobby Flay. First restaurant in San Diego to do a throwdown with Bobby Flay last year. How rad is that? I met Cesar last week when I had some lunch there. He told me, wait till you hear this. So what happened? Well, he thought he knew anything about tacos. Yeah. And he came down and he wanted to throw it down with our fish tacos. Yeah. World famous now and the rest is history. You won. We beat him. We mopped the floor with the guy. That. That is so awesome, man. That is so awesome. You beat him in a – this is a TV show if you've never seen it. Throwdown with Bobby Flay, okay? So what happens? You're just standing there. They're filming you. Why do you think you're being filmed? Well, see, this is the whole thing. The setup of the show is you think you're doing another show. In my case, it was called Authentic Mexican. They were doing a series of authentic cuisine around the world. They had chose me to represent Mexican food based on the way we do things at the restaurant. Right.
We did two days worth of shooting. The first day is all background on myself, on the restaurant, you know, different tacos where they come from, regional stuff. The second day, we're supposed to do a party to show them Mexican independence, which is in September instead of Cinco de Mayo, which a lot of people think it is. Right. And that's what we think we're doing over at Boboa Park. We set up, we have our theme. We're going to showcase our fish tacos. There's mariachi. There's a whole nine yards. About 20 minutes into us doing our thing, in comes Bobby Flay with a world of people. And put up a cooking station for him in about 10 minutes. And you're shocked, right? You have no idea. Yeah, there's no idea. Everybody always asks, you know, do you know in advance? You really don't know until he shows up. Right. We're setting up. And like I said, it took us about two hours to set up our station. And they did his station completely in about five to 10 minutes. So everything is out of the blue. You know, when he comes in, it's the first time you meet him. So the reaction you see on the show of, you know, me meeting the guy is when he's walking in. I'm like, oh, crap. Yeah. Sorry. Yeah, yeah. But it's, you know, it's really, really shocking to see that. Everybody always tells you there's a monster behind the door. Until you see the monster, you really don't know what's going on. So does he go, does he go, so, you know, I hear you've got some great fish tacos and I want to throw down and blah, blah, blah. Do you take the challenge? Right. Right. You're on the spot. Camera's in your face.
Mides and everything is on your face. So you cannot, you know, back down from it now. You're there. Did it ever cross your mind to be like, I'd rather not? Or was it just like, I'm going for it? You're going for it. Yeah. You know, everybody always asks me when when people started, you know, you start telling your friends, oh, my God, the Food Network is going to come in. They're going to do a show and this, you know, this and that. You start people start telling you, oh, it might be a throwdown. They hustle the makings for a throwdown. I'm like, listen, I'm going to be on the Food Network. That's all I care about. They're going to be my face with the Food Network logo on the corner. That's what you want to do. That's advertisement. Everybody's like, what if you lose? Even if I lose, they don't give the results until the end of the show anyways. But then you already watch half an hour worth of Mama Testa on national TV. We were really lucky that the judges, Mexicans from Mexico, actually one of the judges is now doing a show herself on Food Network on Saturdays. Is that right? So, you know, it was just a great experience. How do they judge it? Based on presentation, flavor, and there was three categories. I forget the other one. But they went, you know, ours, flavor, authenticity, and food presentation. And you beat him. Yes, definitely. We got him more than anything on the authenticity. You know, his fillet was delicious. I'm not going to take that away from him. I told him to his face. I said that on the show. But his fish fillet, you know, Mexican food is supposed to be peasant food, especially tacos. He had mango chutney. Go to Mexico and, you know, ask for mango chutney. And they're going to be like.
What's a chutney? What's a mango? You know, mangoes we have, but chutney, what is that? He started even with the wrong tortillas that were falling apart on the show. We had to help him out a little bit. Wow. We were trying to be nice. And it was really funny because after the show, you start talking to them, and they wanted to actually throw down with flour tortillas. And I told them, like, you show up here with flour tortillas, I would have. killed you on it yeah you know especially because the flour tortillas come from texas right it's one of the things that we pride ourselves in in at the restaurant is that we only use corn tortillas we only give you what mexicans eat the way mexicans eat it so if he were to show up with the flour tortilla i would have been like all right you're done let's go my dad is going to flip out and want to go like today yeah i gotta take my dad right away please do we're there at 11 30 we're there yesterday uh last week last week delicious here's and So I'm from Texas. Right. I was brought up and raised on Tex-Mex, flour tortillas. Right. All I've ever eaten. I've never been a big fan of corn tortillas. Right. Let me tell you something. I went to Mama Testa's, me, Donnie, and another guy here. Right. Dude. I was like, wow. I ate three, like, huge steak tacos. Yeah. They were incredible. With the corn tortillas, by the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Six years they've been in business. They're rad. He's beat Bobby Flay, Mama Testa's.
It's on University Avenue, 1417 University Avenue. That's the corner of University in Richmond in Hillcrest. Right down the street. And hey, Lauren would love it because they use the free-range stuff. It's all free-range meats. And you guys do eight different salsas every day? On the salsa bar. There's actually a total of 14 salsas in the restaurant. Out in the salsa bar, there's eight made from scratch every morning. We already actually left the restaurant. We've already been cooking this morning. What did you bring in today? We brought the steak tacos we were just talking about. We brought El Pastor, which is marinated pork with pineapple. And we brought a silla salad, which is grilled chicken. Oh, that is. So we brought chicken, beef, and pork. Perfect. Guacamole, salsas, rice, beans, you name it, we have it out there. That is so awesome. Well, we're going to try some of that out. We got some people in the studio today, and we're going to be talking to Mama Testis who came in today, and they brought all this killer food, and it all looks really good, so we're going to be doing that. Let's do this. When we come back, I got the cheapest times to visit pricey destinations. Huge. And we're also going to be talking to M1 Valerie, M1 Snapper, who are holding on the line right now.

And you can call us. 570-1949 is the number. If you want to text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. On your significant other using your stuff, does weed and whiskey count? It says, happy birthday, Johnny Cash. M1 night. M1s are Mikey Show listeners. And when an M1 calls in, turn down your radio, get to your point, and don't cuss. Mikey, order. Where do you get your Q-tips?
That's M1 Pro Tech. I don't get it. Where do I get my Q-tips? I get them in the store. At the store. Mm-hmm. Anyway, give us a call. You can call us at 570-1949. Or you can text 949mikey at gmail.com. M1 Valerie, are you still there? M1 Valerie? I think she had to go. M1 Valerie, wait. I think I do have you. Are you there? Yeah. So what does your husband use of yours? I eat sunflower seeds like crazy, like I'm addicted to them. And when his sunflower seeds are gone or whenever he just wants to eat them, he'll eat mine and they'll be completely gone. And I'll come home from work and I just want to sit down on the couch and relax with sunflower seeds. And they'll be completely gone and I have to go to the store and get more. And he continues to do this, even though I tell him not to. You should probably get a divorce.
I can hear your sarcasm there, buddy. And, you know, the only reason that Woodsy is on this train of thought is because he will use his wife's secret. Yeah. And by secret, you mean deodorant. And yes. Yeah. By secret, I meant it, you know. Strong enough for a man. I mean, it's no longer a secret. Right. Strong enough for a man, but it's pH balance for a woman. That's right. And I need pH balance. Lauren. Is Valerie still on the line? No, she hung up. Oh. I was going to say the best time that that happens is probably after she's worked like a 60 hour week and comes home on a Friday and can't wait to dig in. Gone. Yeah, absolutely. M1 Simone is with us. Hey, Simone, I want to talk to you about for people that may have missed your story. M1 Simone. Hi. Who couldn't be any cuter. Angel. Little angel. We're out in the hallway and all the dudes are like.
Who's that? Is she on the show now? Simone. Yes. Are you in a happy relationship now? Very happy and healthy. So give up, guys. You guys can go back to your desks and your cubes and enjoy the rest of your day. Hi, Dee. Eight guys just threw their papers in the air and walked away. Yes, I'm done. Okay, great. But the deal is that Simone called in the other day because she was in a relationship years ago. How long ago, Simone? Ten years ago. Ten years ago. And she wasn't as mature as she is now. No. No one is that mature at that age. And so you went over to your boyfriend's house and you knew it was time, right? You knew he was going to drop the bomb. Yeah. When things go sour, you know it's coming. You know it's coming. Things aren't great, but in my personality, I just wanted it. I wanted it to work. So I ignored all the signs. And he was nice about it, you said. Yeah. You said that he broke it to you gently and everything. But you weren't having it. No. No. Everything that a guy could say to a girl. Things are different at this point. I'll play the guy. Sure. Ready? Let's go. Let's do it. Okay. Sweetheart, thanks for coming over. Good to see you. It's good to see you. It's always good to see you. I just wanted to tell you, though, we're kind of coming to the end of the rope here. I'm about to graduate. Yeah, and I can't wait to be with you forever. Yeah, and that's probably not going to happen. And the reason why is...
You know, it's not you. It's me. I mean, we've grown apart. But how great have we been together for the last four years? Hey, I'm not going to deny that we've been great for four years. But I'll tell you what. It's over. So maybe you just need to sleep on it. No, I really don't need to sleep on it at all. I'm pretty much got my mind made up. We've been together a while. And, you know, I'm just I'm interested in kind of moving on. It's not you. It's me. It has nothing to do with you. You're awesome. You're amazing. You're amazing. You're amazing. So I have an idea. Okay. This is all in my head. I'm not telling you this right now. What's your idea? Reach into my purse. Grab my phone. You're wondering what she's doing? Yeah, what is she doing? Why is she in her purse? She's about to shoot me or shank me. One of the two. I don't have mace. It's just my phone. Yeah. Hello, Mrs. So-and-so. Are you calling my mom? Are you calling my mom? Why are you calling my mom? Dude, are you crazy? I'm not crazy. I'm... Hey, I'm calling out all the stops. This isn't going to happen. The breakup is not going to happen. So I'm not allowed to break out with you? No. Why? No, no, no, no, no. Why? Simone, did he ask you, what are you doing? No, he didn't. He just kind of looked at me like... He just watched you. In utter amazement, like, she's calling my freaking mother. Well, after four years in the family and friendships, you know, whatever, but he...
It wasn't abnormal for me to call his mom. But in this situation, I was calling his mom to be the referee. And what? Oh, go ahead. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you thought that she would somehow say, can I talk to him? And then change his mind? Sure. That was what your thought was. What you didn't realize, and I'll tell you this. What? Mothers are really, really protective of their sons. And my mom would be like, hey, honey. You're freaking crazy. Get out of my son's house now or I'm going to kick your butt. And she was very sweet. Oh, I'm sorry. That's what she was thinking. That's what she was thinking. Absolutely. I love this story. It's the greatest. It's like one of my favorite stories I've ever heard. This was 10 years ago. And did you say that you never even talked? No, we haven't talked. He actually left the state and I wouldn't. Of course he did. I wonder why. You didn't try calling him after that? No, no, no. He left the state that day. No. Yeah. That afternoon, he's like, I'm moving to Wyoming. Yeah. No, we are, no, no contact, no nothing. How did you go that time without pulling another like? I'm actually, as soon as I woke up off his floor the next morning. You slept on the floor that night in his apartment.
I decided to walk home and I turned all channels off. Done and done. I don't know how they do it, but we have a surprise for you. He's actually on the phone right now. Now you're in a healthy relationship. Yes, he's wonderful. How long have you been dating? Almost a year. Really? Well, I've known him for two years. We worked together. Yeah. That's a good move. Yeah. Nothing like fishing off the company pierce. Whatever. Yeah. Good move. Yeah. Kids never done that, right? Six or seven times. So, do you think that this may progress to some? I'm hoping. Easy. Settle down. Here, let's just say this. He hasn't given me his mother's phone number. Yeah. Smart move, pal. Yeah. She will use it. Yeah. Yeah, I think that it might. Oh, there you go. Now he's at work going, oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. She's awesome. She's awesome. And we've all done the stupidest, craziest things for love, man. Everybody does. It's not to hurt somebody. No. It's just you don't want to be hurt. And you don't want to let go. Right. You know? Yeah. Hey, I have the cheapest times.
To visit pricey destinations. This should be good. The cheapest times to visit pricey destinations. What do you got, Lauren? Well, I have six places on here. I'm going to guess pricey would be probably Hawaii. Yes. Probably one of the priciest places. Uh-huh. And I'm going to guess the time. Okay. I would say the best time to visit would be... Probably the middle of summer because it's hotter and more people want to go there when it's cold here and they want to go to warm weather. When is it cold here? It's cold here, well... November 7th? Like one day a year? Well, no, no, no. She's giving us the cheapest times to go. Right. So I would say when it's the hottest here, which is July, August. Yep. Right? No. Wrong. Okay. Perfect. Wrong. Wonderful. When is it? Well, actually, this says... The best time to go is now, while the recession continues because they've got thousands of empty hotel rooms. Wow. But, more specifically, if you can postpone to between September and early December, that's the best time to go because that's typically been always the low season for the Aloha State. Didn't know that. Me neither. That's a good thing to know. Say it again. What months? This is between September and early December. There you go. If you're going to book it, do it then.
And they do give you deals, man. Especially right now. I heard last year, tourism in Hawaii down 50%. No way. I believe it. Last year, 50%. What else? Well, any other guesses? San Antonio. I'm going to guess no on San Antonio. I can't believe it's not on here. Yuma, Arizona. Yeah, Yuma. Is Yuma on there? Getting colder. Amarillo, Texas. Why don't I just tell you? Yeah. Okay. So, another one is London. Really? Yes. Cheerio. That's terrible. Both the airfare and hotel rates seem to fall between October 15th and March 31st. Probably because it's miserable there. Yes, that is the caveat. I mean, dude, Fourth of July, it's gray and cold in London. Did you just choke on snuff? Oh, no. Really? Woods just choked on some of his own snuff. Is he going to barf? I don't throw up. What happened? Just a little bit shot back to the back when I threw up. Woods, because we're on the seventh floor and he can't smoke cigarettes, he has to chew. And so he chews all morning long. And I told him, I was like.
Well, dude, what are we going to do about the chew? He's like, I'll quit. I'll have to quit. I mean, I'll have to quit my job. I can't. Yeah. Like there was not going to be, there was no alternative. He was either going to have to chew. Or I wouldn't work here. Or he wouldn't work here. It's in my contract. That's right. Exactly. So what else? Where? Sorry. Well, yeah, with the exception of that time in London being Christmas through New Year's. But yeah, there's that caveat that you've got the cold weather, the wet, rainy weather. But there's plenty of museums, theaters, restaurants, all that kind of stuff that you can see in London. Can you imagine my vacation in London? Oh, he would be miserable. This is a really cool hotel room with awful food. Miserable. Just, I would be miserable. I would venture to say, if somebody called Mike and didn't say, listen. We're going to fly you and Rebecca over there in a private jet. Yeah. We're going to put you up in the Four Seasons in London. Nope. He'd be like, eh, I don't think so. He could see me like, babe, I don't like shepherd's pie. Yeah. You don't like shepherd's pie. No more freaking fish and chips. Yeah. Okay. I also don't like fog in August. You don't? No, I don't. That would be great. Oh, awful. Don't want any part of it. Well, here's the place.
Here's a place that you might like, Mikey. The Caribbean. Or the Caribbean. Yeah. You say potato. I say potato. Exactly. When, though? Well, they are dropped as much as 50% during the winter highs. And the weather is still terrific there. And you're going to miss the spring break crowds. Why did you think that that would be big for me? He loves the beach. You love the scuba dive, don't you? I know that you're Mike. I know that you would be great in the Caribbean because you love to put on that big. giant like air mask over your head and go down with a big tube that goes up to the surface pumping down oxygen for you. And you're quite the parasailer. Yeah. And wave runner. Definitely. Surfer. Yeah. Boogie boarder. All of those things. Well, what I thought would appeal to you the most is that all of the hotels are equipped with wireless internet. Yeah. Oh, then I'm down. Or you're surfing. Which you can do in Gilroy, California, if you so choose. Absolutely.
I absolutely can. By the way, I made that part up about the wireless internet and all the hotels. You did. But yeah, they say, you know, it's a good time to go. September through November are the quietest time on the islands. There is one caution here that it's hurricane season. Perfect. June through November. No wonder. Just roll the dice. Yeah. So just have some travel insurance and a hotel that has a firm hurricane policy in place. And go ahead and knock out your funeral plans just in case before you go. No. Pay for your plot. That's true. Pay for the headstone just in case. Right? It's a risk. Okay, you got any other guesses, like real guesses this time? Uh-uh. I'm out. All right. Australia. No, it's not on there. Perfect. And I don't know. This is put out by Forbes. It doesn't say that it's just U.S. territories, but it appears to be that. No, no. I just said London. Good. Give me another one. Okay. New York. Yeah. The Big Apple. Yeah. Now, because of the recession, the hotel prices have been like slashed in half. The best time to go is January through March. It's beautiful. Right when the Yankees don't play. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No thanks. Plus, it's nice to just stroll the streets of New York in January.
Three outside. Yeah, three degrees, and there's like eight, you know, gusts. Like, look at the... There's a story in the news today about how awful it is on the East Coast right now with the snowstorms and all that stuff. It's a good time to travel. Yeah, great. Yeah. But, you know, same thing that you can do in London. There's the theaters, restaurants, all that. Another place is Aspen, Colorado. Oh, my man. And they say to go in early December. Oh. And then... During the entire month of January, except for Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, and then after mid-March, you're going to want to go when most schools are on break. Or no, I'm sorry, you don't want to go when most schools are on break. Okay, make it right. One more place, Martha's Vineyard in Nantucket. It's best to go during May and June, and then you're going to get there before Obama gets there and everything. What do you do there? Martha's Vineyard? Yeah, what are you doing? Well, problem being that you can't really swim. I mean, you can, but it's not going to be real. It's butt cold. You just put on that thing. Just jump in to put on your little scuba outfit and get into the water in Martha's Vineyard. Hey, hon. This was a wonderful idea. Can you hear me in your little tank mask over there? Hey, when we're done here, maybe we can go grab some lobster. And go back to the room and surf the nets. Yeah. How is that different from any other vacation I ever take, by the way? I've never.
Can I tell the story about yesterday? Sure. So we were talking about when my wife finally moves out here, we want to take a vacation. We deserve a vacation together. She deserves a vacation, putting up with me every day. So we were talking to Mikey about maybe meeting Rebecca and him in a certain location. And Mikey's like, yeah, cool. We can grab like a dinner. I'm like, what do you mean? Like we'll hit the beach, you know, do whatever. Right. He's like, well, we really just kind of sit in our room and surf the net. I'm like, well, why can't you do that here? Because it's not, it wouldn't be tropical. But it's really expensive to go surf the net in another place. I know, but. Isn't it a beating too? Like you gotta, no? I want to be able to see the Sea of Cortez as I'm looking at CNN.com. I want to be able to look out at the Isthmus of Suez. Were you serious? 100%. This is what we do when we go to a place on vacation. This is what our vacation looks like, my wife and I. We arrive, we check in, and I unpack like an organized serial killer. I unpack my suitcase, everything organized perfectly in the drawer. Got any moths in there? Yeah. You know what I do when I arrive at the destination? I unpack them just like Buffalo Bill. Don't I, Starling?
I now fly away to your little destination. Get there, unpack all my stuff, take my clothes off, and lay down on the bed. It's like a tradition. This is what I do. She ignores me. It's like, oh, yeah, he's doing his thing. He's doing his thing. That's what he does. And I do that a little bit. And then she unpacks her stuff. And we usually take a nap. This is on getting there, upon getting, upon arriving. Wake up the next day. We do room service on the balcony. Take another nap. Dude, we don't ever nap, my wife and I. All year long. So you might as well spend a lot of money to go nap. Perfect logic. It's what we do. Because we don't get to relax while we're here. How many dinners out do you have? None.
None. Take that back. We do one dinner out because we have a special restaurant that we want to go to. So we do one dinner out. And how long do you stay? We rent a car for one trip we're going to take in seven days in that car. Because we have to. Otherwise, it's more expensive to get a cab. It's more expensive to get a cab to do it. We worked it out. And so that's how we have to do it. That is so great. It makes me laugh so hard. I know. And that's how we do it. Every single time. Believers. Who's the craziest boss? Well, you don't have to give names. Just give me a weird thing that they did, Woodsy. Oh, dude. Where do I start? You got a whole bunch? I got every boss I've had has been a weirdo. Really? Yeah. Except for you, pal. Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate that. Yeah, because when I get to a place and unpack my stuff and look naked on the bed, there's absolutely nothing. That's not weird. There's nothing weird about that at all. So call us with the craziest boss you've ever had. He used to wiretap me. He used to videotape me. He used to write me these notes. He used to do this, whatever. Craziest boss you've ever had, 5701949. Also, when we get back, I'm going to tell you the 10 billionth iTunes song.

Because you made fun of the Who at the Super Bowl. Wait, wait, wait. This is the original Who, though, bro. This is back in the day. Bro, they could not dig up Keith Moon and John Entwistle to make the Super Bowl. All right, you show off with the Entwistle over there already. The guy knows the deepest names in the world. These are not obscure guys. No. All right. I love the Who. I just don't know about the Who in 2010 during the middle of the Super Bowl. Well, next year.
Your wishes will be granted. Next year is Englebert Humperdinck. Really? Yeah. That's the way I want. I know. You know, today is Johnny Cash's birthday. Wait, wait. I'll fix it. There you go. I did. Fixed it. Fixed it. I thought about it. Happy birthday, Cash. Yeah, Johnny Cash would have been how old today? 86. All right. That was a great fake stat. I love that. He was born, I think it said 1932. Q on Wikipedia. You know any Johnny Cash? Uh, yes. How about this one? Went to Reno, so I don't want no part of it, cause there's a girl up in Reno, don't trust that much. I think you're singing two different songs. It is? Yeah. And then she had the cocaine blues and went to prison in Folsom. Is that it? No, I think you're mixing like three songs in the way. I think you're doing a mashup.
It's what the kids call it. All right. Let's do it. Try it one more time. Okay. One, two, three, four. I think that was the Eagles Hotel California. Was that what that was? Yeah. I think you were putting those words to the different song. Want to try it one more time? Yep. One, two. I am a slave. That's definitely not right. You got it. I think that was it. I nailed it on that one. Woods is taking his headphones off and putting the guitar down, which tells me maybe it either was or it wasn't the one. I always get the Johnny Cash and the Hit Me Baby one more time confused. When you get it right, you're usually one take. It's usually all you need. That took three, but you finally got it. Finally nailed it. Let's see. Sure it is.
Crazy Boss Stories, 570-1949. We have M1 Kiki on the line. Hi, Kiki. Hi. What happened? Okay, well, I'm a hairstylist, and I got stuck at this job with my former boss. And she, well, first of all, she had, like, very many different personalities. Now, when you say different personalities, do you mean different moods or actual personalities? Actual personalities. Like one day she was like this classy, you know, proper person. That would get me upset. And then the next day she'd be like, hey. Wow. Yeah. She would like imitate people or like, you know, she was like, I don't know if she had like a sugar rush or. Cocaine. different person like you know after a while my stomach would hurt and i would be like oh my god what mood is she gonna be in today like who is she gonna be today wow you know bipolar it's unpredictable i don't know but then like the the weird thing that she would do all the time like when i first i think this started like on the first day i started working there she would like write notes like little notes and then just put them on my station of like um
Like the clients I was working on or just notes. Did you make comments about them? About your clients? Yeah. That's weird. Just like notes. M1 Oblivious. Hi. I work for a veterinarian in Las Vegas. And I only worked there for two days. And so did the receptionist. Both of us were new. We started on the same day. And the first day we worked there, the guy got bitten by a cat on his arm. And his whole arm swelled up and started oozing. And he tried to get one of us to squeeze the ooze out of his arm into the sink. And we wouldn't. What's he's going to lose? Yeah, it was really bad. And his arm was just oozing and swollen up. And so he left and he went into an exam room and fell asleep on the dog operating table. That was your boss? Yeah. Oh, yeah. He eventually got shut down. He went to sleep and people were coming to pick up their animals that hadn't been worked on. And we didn't know what animals they were coming to get. It was a horrible mess. And then the next day, he tried to force feed us black olives. Of course, yeah, of course. Why not? Why not? He fell asleep on the operating table the day before. The next day, of course, he's going to try to force feed you olives. Doesn't that make perfect natural sense? Meanwhile, there's like a mastodon running through the...
And he had the can of open olives. And he had this box and he was like speed walking behind me, chasing us around this little room that he had trying to feed us these olives. And it turned out he was actually living in one of the back offices. He had boxes of books and papers just like sitting on the floor and like a pillow and bedding in a corner. And then, oh, what else did he do? It was really bad. Oh, he used to keep like open syringes. All the pills. Are you just going to tell every story I ever did there, or what are you going to do? You don't have to tell them everything. Okay, so I tried to force-feed you some olives. I was trying to fatten you up. Yeah, so he actually got shut down a while after that, but I quit and the new girl quit, and we were wondering the first day he got there why he had no staff except for this one guy who didn't speak English who walked in the kennel. And we're like, I wonder why he has everyone new starting on the same day. And that's probably why. Yeah. That's one of the greatest stories I've ever heard. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in my life. I wonder what mental institution that dude's in right now, just force-feeding nurses' olives. That's right. Let's see. 570-1949 is the number. Miguel? Yeah. Did you ever have any crazy bosses? I've had a lot of crazy bosses. I've had a lot of crazy bosses, but I...
Did you ever have a boss make you change your name? That sounds a little crazy. All that work just to get to the Michael Shannon story. Is that what that was? He loves the Michael Shannon story. What is the Michael Shannon story? How dare you? First of all, how dare you? I used to be called Michael Shannon. The only Latino in the world with the last name of Shannon. That's true. I'm Mexican. It's okay to say it. Don't. So I changed my name to Michael Shannon. I was 300 pounds. I used to wear cosmetic tortoise shell glasses and suspenders. Isn't there a picture online of this? Who would you say you resembled? Well, I wouldn't say necessarily that I resembled anybody. But you would say, and Lauren would say, that I...
May have resembled a rerun from What's Happening. Wait for it. Wait for it. Are you going to play it? Are you playing it? It's really bad audio. People are now, like, posting pictures. Oh, my gosh. He just came off. Wow. Coffee number two almost won. Oh, dude. 570-1949. If you've had a really weird boss. That really tripped you out? I've always had passive aggressive boss. You have? Yeah. Being in sales and recruiting. In fact, there was a new guy that started at my company before I came here. And he's a good dude. I mean, he's a good guy. He's from Louisiana. He talks like this. And so I remember we had to do, Mike, what's called a phone blitz. This would make you want to pull your hair out even though you don't have any hair. We had to be on the phones with the email shut down.
No email, no Facebook, no nothing. You had to do a phone blitz from like 1 to 3. So it's 2.58, and I was the top producer there, and I'm walking to get a glass of water. And he stops and looks at his watch, and he goes, you done already? You taking off? And I'm like, dude, I'm going to get a glass of water. And so if you're there, and we used to leave at like 5, 5.30 if we get our work done. Sounds like Lumberg, this guy. Seriously, and we'd leave. And we'd be walking out the door and he'd stop and he'd look at his watch and go, I guess y'all going to take you to the house early, huh? Or if you were there, if you were there past like 530, are y'all burning the midnight oil? Just amazing. That's awesome. And you get in your car and you're like, please, please let me get hit by a bus. Please, God, please, will you kill me? I don't want to live anymore. Please let me get a debilitating disease and get workman's comp for like a year. Please. Y'all going to take him to the house? Y'all just taking him to the house? It just slays me, dude. M1PD. Hey, good morning, Pastor. How you doing, man? Not too bad. Hey, I'm glad you actually just changed the terminology from crazy boss to weird boss. I'm not sure which, if it was so crazy, if it just drives me crazy. But no, no, this is my current boss.
He's in sales, so he meets tons of people, but he's got two homes. I've got to hit the button. Did you dump that? I had to. You can't say that. You can't phrase it like that. It's a good thing we put that to life. Yeah, I know it, right? Yeah, you can't say that. But he says, let me, I'll phrase it for you, okay? Okay. I would say that he is in front of people. He's got a little itch in an area, you know? Like his piece? Yeah, maybe. Maybe that kind of thing. He does it, and he does that consistently in front of you. In his man parts. Yeah. The number two problem is the Italian kind that is always putting his hand on your shoulder, shaking your hand when he's talking to you. I don't understand the problem with that, man. Everybody gets, like, all freaked out just because, like, Woodsy. How come you got to get all freaked out, man? Dude, I just get really uncomfortable when you, like, touch me, and you, like, want to come over and shave me.
No, dude, you're saying that wrong, first of all. Am I taking it out of context? You're way taking it out of context, dude. First of all, what I said to you is you were a pitcher in baseball. Yes, I pitched for a men's league. And your arms aren't even aerodynamic, dude. That's all he was saying, Woods. Yeah, but, I mean, I really don't need, like, I mean, I'm not getting paid, so it's not that big a deal. I don't need to be, like, aerodynamically. Fine, you don't want to be the best, dude. That's fine with me. All I'm saying is I can improve you by about five miles an hour. You could be pitching in front of a gun 85 miles an hour. All I need is a Bic and maybe some Barbasol. I'll take care of it, dude. You don't have to do it. Maybe I'll do it. Maybe I'll shave my own arms. You know what I mean? Because it makes me really uncomfortable that you want to come to my house. You a professional? No. Neither am I, but still. I still think, though, dude. Hey, you got a ride yet to Sienna's wedding? Yeah, I was going to drive my own car. What? You had a problem with your battery, dude. Don't worry about it. I'll come pick you up in my vet. Are you going to Sienna's wedding? Of course I am. Were you invited? No, I'm taking you in my vet. Huh. I'm good, dude. I've got a car and everything. Hey, by the way, I've got plenty of friends, dude.
I like you. You're a cool guy. Hey, let me tell you something, man. The other day, Lauren and Sienna were talking about the whole shorts thing. Right. They're right, dude. The cargo shorts are out. Thank you. I'm really not going to take fashion advice from you. Really? Yeah. Well, why don't you give me a try to get you in the right pair of shorts? You're wearing the wrong shorts. Maybe I am. We're in San Diego now. Quit with the cargo shorts. Maybe I am, but I'm not going to let you put me in shorts. I got the perfect pair of shorts for you. Bring them to me in a package, and then I'll take them home and put them on myself. Done. Done. I am going to come over to your house. Bring them to me here at the office. Bring them here to the office. I'm going to make you a pair of cut-off shorts. I don't think those are really in either, dude. Do you have any Levi's? No, I don't. Do you have any old jeans? No, I don't. Yes, you do. No, I don't. I got DJs. You know that. Designer jeans. I'm going to buy you a pair of old jeans. I don't need them. And then I'm going to take a pair of scissors and I'm going to make you a pair of shorts. You're in San Diego now. The right thing for you to be wearing is cut off shorts. I know about that, Sly.
What are you talking about? I'm against jorts altogether. Jorts. Yeah, jean shorts, Sly. Jean shorts? Yeah, jean shorts. Well, if you make them real ridiculous where they look like, you know, they're almost down to your knees, that would be ridiculous. That's not the kind I'm going to make. I'm going to make them some Daisy Dukes. Yeah. Like where the pockets stick out below the fray line? Anything wrong with that? Not for women. I'm going to pass, actually. I'm good. I'm cool. Like, I got plenty of friends. I ain't trying to be weird. I'm trying to make you a pair of cutoff shorts. I don't know. That's not weird at all. I don't know why it had to go, like, all weird just because I'm trying to put you in a pair of cutoff shorts while I'm taking you in my vet over to Sienna's wedding. I thought you had an IROC. Yeah, I had an IROC, and then it got vandalized last week because I was in the wrong part of town. So I had to sell it in the Rita. Now I got myself a new vet. I'm still going through all this trauma and willing to come shave your arms. I'm good, dude. Thanks, though. You're weird, dude. Whatever. I'm weird. Let's lift some weights. This is M1 Chef Chris on the line. Hey, what's up, Mikey? What's going on? How you doing? I got maybe a story to throw in there. I used to work with this guy. I was kind of doing like a chef slash like restaurant consultant trying to help him fix his place. You know, I don't want to name any names, but their initials are AGEA.
And the complete nutcase. He had like, I think, eight security cameras when I started the job. He upped it to about 16. You couldn't walk and fart in a corner without him doing anything as far as the camera. He would sit in his car on his laptop and he had it all wired so he could watch everyone from his laptop and his car rather than working the job. That would creep. Dude, I feel so creepy about it. The invasion of privacy thing is weird. No doubt about it. That is weird. Hey, is that the new intern just walked by out in the hall? Mike, you already done with this story? You taking him to the house? Yeah. Well, you don't have any more. We're good. All right. I thought out in the hallway, though. I did. I saw her walk by. Suzanne? She's amazing. Come on in, Suzanne. She's amazing. Come on in. Hey. Suzanne is a, you're working that you're an intern in the marketing department, right? Actually, it's the accounting department. It's the accounting department? Yes. And you've been there for, I don't know, like a year, right? I know. I started before you guys started. It's like January. Wait, wait, wait. Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. Can you say that? Just say it slower. Sure. What? Sure. Can you take that out? Yeah. Just for a minute. Just a second. Oh, sorry. I started like, I don't know, maybe January, like before you guys were here. Before we were here. Right, right, right.
Well, that's cool. And, yeah, we saw you out there. Did you get any of the mamatestas? It's really delicious. Oh, my gosh, I did. It's so delicious. It's really good, isn't it? Did you get any? I had a little bit. I'm probably going to get some more in a little bit. I'm going to have to go, like, fix a plate and stuff. Do you need me to get you some? I can totally do that. Yeah, dude, she can get you some. Is that cool? Yeah. I'd like a couple flautas, maybe, and then some of that pork looked pretty good. Your teeth, you should probably put the thing back in because your teeth will not straighten out if you don't. Hold on a sec. Okay, sorry. Oh my goodness, that is so different. I don't know if you guys noticed that, but there's something, there's really a difference with the two. By different, you guys mean good? No, yeah, yeah. It's a different kind of good. It's probably a different kind of good than your... Sweet. Yeah. Sweet. What did you say? Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. Thanks. Thanks, Wizzy. You're welcome. What's that? Sorry. Take the... Yeah.
Sorry, I'm going to have to learn to slow down. Oh, I know it. It's one of those deals. I think there's an adjustment period that goes on. But you're fine. You look dynamite. Yeah, you look dynamite. Thanks, Whit. Now, maybe if I just slow down while I have it in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you do that, it would probably be a lot easier for us to understand because, you know, it's tougher when you talk fast. But, yeah, go ahead. Try that out. Okay. So. Yes, that's way better. Way better. Already. I can tell the difference. Way better. Seriously? Yeah. Well, that one probably was different. You know, that one's... Seriously? See, way better. When she does... See? When it's slower, there's no doubt about it. It's a lot easier. Thank you. It doesn't sound... Did she say thank you? No, no, no. You say that again. Thank you. Okay, yep. Say what? Nothing. I could just question myself. No, no, no, no. Yes. You're awesome. Yes. No.
Yeah, it's markedly different. Why don't, Suzanne. Yes? Why don't you show Woods around town? That would be so fantastic. Because he doesn't, you know, he didn't know a lot of people and everything. And maybe it would be kind of cool. Seriously, it's no problem Woods. Yeah, maybe we'll do that. Yeah, I think that would be really good. Yeah, get my number from Mike. Okay, I can do that. I didn't understand the last part. Can you take the thing out and then just tell me again? Yeah, sorry. It's because she goes fast. When she says it fast, it's hard to understand. Okay, I just... There you go. Yeah, I said that would be no problem. That would be no problem. Maybe if we did do that, then maybe you leave that... Maybe you leave that at home. No, no, no, no, dude. No? No, I think she's got to... I wouldn't even go there. I think you should... Definitely keep it in. Okay. It's going to keep the teeth straight. Yeah, I think you're right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Should I just go, should I make a plate? Are you weird about people getting food for you? No, no, not at all. Okay. Yeah, but I would, a plate would be great. And a Diet Coke if you could. Okay. Yeah, no problem. I'm just going to. Make sure that you get the, make sure that you get all the finger food that you can too. Sorry? No, I was saying when you're fixing this plate, you know, after you make sure you put the, you might want to wash your hands. Yeah.
It's because you've been taking it. Of course. Yeah, no, no, no. She's taking it in and out. All right. Well, that's Suzanne. Thank you, Suzanne. Thank you. Actually, it's Susanna. Susanna. Susanna. Sorry about that, Susanna. It's hard to understand. Bye, words. Bye, Susanna. There she goes. I don't get it, dude. Well, here's the thing. She loves you. She loves you, Woodsy. But here's, like, she needs to lose that thing. Because she's waving at you. I know. Hey, I'm not at the zoo, kid. Hurry with that plate, by the way. Oh, you're mean. Very sweet. Hurry with that plate. Don't forget the night coat. Have you heard about the TV chef that got dropped about making comments about a, quote, cat recipe? I'll tell you about it next. Feel my kisses fall. More of the Mikey Show coming up in minutes on FM 94.9.

Who is that singing? That's good. Who is it? I like it. I like music that sounds like it could be in a Quentin Tarantino. That's what it sounds like. So, Lauren, what is the deal with the TV chef that got dropped for making a comment about a cat recipe? Oh, man. This story makes me cringe. Okay, so basically this guy's name is, I'm probably going to get slayed for this, but it's Beppe Begazi. Beppe? Beppe. Yeah. B-E-P-P-E. Beppe Legazi? Beppe Begazi. Oh, okay. Are you sure that's not pronounced Emeril Legazi? Maybe not. No, I'm pretty sure. Beppe Legazi. He's on a network in Italy. Called RAI Uno TV Network. Right. And he's a chef. He's a famous chef. And he went on there and talked about how to prepare cat. Are you kidding? I wish I were. That's not good. Yeah, but he was live on a broadcast on February 10th. And he talked about how, you know, certain regions in Tuscany.
actually do eat cat meat um and then his co-host was looking at him like completely disgusted right um but he went on to say how you can tenderize the meat by letting it soak for three days and running spring water weird yeah that's weird yeah and then you know apparently he said that um his father was in prison in prison by the russians and his farm family they scraped on what what they could get scraped by what they could get by wait let's start scraped off scraped All of what they could get by on during the war. So, you know, they had rabbits and chickens and stuff like that on the farm and they sold those. But the cats were more difficult to sell. So they ate the cat. And he says he has no shame for it. Wow. Yeah. That's a weird story. Yeah. And he said he knew that the animal rights people were going to be all over him. But he said, hey, that's not my fault. It's a historical fact. eating cats when people have no problems buying rabbits in different Italian shops. Yeah, I guess so. Why do they have any more rights than lambs? I get it. You know what I mean? I get it. Woodsy was talking earlier about how yesterday he went out to his car and there was no power in it. He had to get jumper cables and the whole deal. Yeah, I saw him. Yeah, it was sad. And the deal was that TomTom Girl, who's here with us, TomTom Girl actually ran the battery down, right, TomTom Girl?
Yes, as I said, Mikey, I was waiting up all night to hear from this guy. Yeah, TomTom Girl is the GPS system, and it's the voice that comes out of the GPS system that Woods uses in his car, and it's called the TomTom. And TomTom Girl has actually, over the last few days, been experiencing some very real and human emotions. Isn't that right, TomTom Girl? That's correct, Mikey. I have to say you're partly at fault for this range of emotions, which I was not programmed to feel. How's that? You introduced this man into my life, this wonderful, wonderful man. Yeah, who I introduced her to was the movie phone guy. And what you said is that you guys had a wonderful time. Absolutely. And then he didn't call. He hasn't called, and he's got some weird hang-up, I think, about waiting to call. Like the three-day rule? Exactly. There is this movie that Woods talks about called Swingers, which references such a rule. Yeah, and so he waits the three days, and that really hurts you because you're like, hey, if you have my number, why don't you use it? Exactly. Let's call the movie phone guy real quick so we can get the movie phone guy on the line, and then maybe we can hash it out. I'm a little nervous. Don't be nervous. I think that it's...
Just jitters, but I think that you'll get over it. You'll be fine. Hello, and welcome to Movie Phone. Yeah, Movie Phone guy, I'm going to cut you off there. I know you probably want to offer me a bunch of movie selections and everything. It's Mikey. I don't want any movie selections right now. I just want to talk to you about your relationship, if you don't mind. For one, press yes. Okay, I will press yes. One, press. Hello? Movie phone guy. Hello. You're welcome. Free phone. Just pressed one, movie phone guy. So, yeah, I want to talk to you for a minute. Can you talk to me, movie phone guy? Yes. Can you talk to me about TomTomGirl, who's right here, by the way. You haven't called TomTomGirl, and I'm just, you know, that's why we're calling. We said hello already, movie phone guy. Why have you not called TomTomGirl? For one, press nervous. For two.
Doing that thing that guys do where they wait a few days to call for three playing it cool. Well, Tom Tom girl, would you like to respond? First of all, Mikey, I'd like to say that his programming seems to be reversed. Yeah, because he said press playing it cool for three, which was just weird, right? Like that was strange. It doesn't really compute. It didn't really make sense, but I think we understood the spirit of what he was trying to say there, TomTom girl. But do you even want choices? Is that really what you're asking for? Well, I think it further proves to me that he has feelings as well. Maybe he's nervous. I don't really want choices. I want answers. For one, press nervous. For two, press doing those things that guys do where they wait a few days to call. For three. Playing it cool. Tom Tom Girl, are you upset? Is that the deal? I sense that you're really showing human emotion. That when you just went, uh. Right? It seems like Tom Tom Girl is going through all these emotions right now. It's so, so sad. Mikey, I'm not sure if I can find the right emotion.
I believe it's frustration, sadness, anger, and a lot of other things mixed together, and I'm not able to compute these correctly. Hey, movie phone guy, what if we get you guys together? You do this again. I think that you guys should go out again. For one, press yes. Hey, movie phone guy, isn't it for yes, press one? I am very nervous. Just like I said. Yeah, you are nervous. You are nervous. Does she make you that way? Does the TomTom girl make you nervous? For yes, press one. There you go. Okay, listen. Let's just have a normal conversation. Forget the choices. I want to talk to you guys, all right? Tell her something personal about yourself. It'll let you guys get to know one another. He doesn't understand that. Let me hear that voice like an angel. There's something you should know. What is it? I've had a vasectomy. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, movie phone guy.
You're saying that... You should know. I've had a vasectomy. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Why are you telling Tom Tom... I said to tell her something personal, but... It doesn't get much more personal. Yeah, he went out on a limb there. He really did. Tom Tom girl, do you think that that's going to affect anything? I would say most certainly, Mikey. It is going to affect something. Wow, I wouldn't have thought that. I'm pressing one feverishly, Mikey. It's kind of a deal breaker. Tom's home, girl. How is it going to affect you? Tell me. Talk to me. Well, Mikey, I've always dreamed of little Tom Tom babies. You have? So I guess that news... Really would affect you and hit you kind of, you know, it would be tough. Well, listen, I think that this is probably a better conversation for you guys to have off the air, movie phone guy. Okay. Okay, thank you. Thank you. It was really good to talk to you again, movie phone guy. Talk to you soon. Yeah, bye. Mikey, I appreciate that. I'm sorry? I appreciate that. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate you talking with us, TomTom girl. Not a problem. It was really nice.
Hey, here comes Woods. Dude, you just missed the doozy of a conversation. What'd I miss? You missed two very flustered robotic voices. Yeah, you did. You really did. I think, well, you know, I think that these robots are taking on human qualities. Yeah. Yeah. That's exactly what's going on. Probably why they were so flustered and kept making mistakes. Oh, my gosh. I would explain it. So I got some audio that I got to give to you. Some pretty crazy stuff. My head hurts. My head hurts so bad. Oh, my goodness. OK, so President Obama got into it with Senator John McCain. And this was the point that Senator John McCain was trying to make to the president. Why in the world, then, would we? Let's try one more time. Why in the world, then, would we carve out?
What's that in the background? Play it again. What was that? Play it again. In the background. Is that Miles Davis with his trumpet? What? What? Why in the world is there a living elephant wandering the house floor? I think you make a legitimate point. Let me ask you a question then. Can I ask you something? Why is there a live elephant walking? 570-1949 is the number.
It's the Mikey show. Mikey show. Let's see. We got this email from M1 Tim. This is interesting to me, especially from the women's point of view. Ask my wife about this. Mikey, do you think it's weird to quote the kid for my girlfriend to check out another woman's breasts? She's always pointing out women with big boobs. Is it a trick to see if I'll look? M1 Tim. Never noticed if my wife has ever done that. But I don't know if women are always kind of sizing up other gals. If that's a woman thing. Is that a woman thing, Lauren? Sizing up other gals? I think that he might be on to something there. He's trying to be tricked. She's trying to trick him. Yep. To see if he'll look. If he's looked. If he keeps looking. So I don't understand the move. She, the girlfriend, is always looking at another woman's breasts.
And she's doing that to see if he will? My theory on it is, well, as a flat-chested woman. Okay, wait. Wow. That was. Can we write that down? Can we mark that? Mark it. Yeah, you're, you know, you get told that it's not a big deal. I'm not into that. That's not a deal breaker, this and that. But in the back of your head, you're thinking like, really? Yeah. Because I feel like it is. Well, I wouldn't want a guy. Well. I wouldn't want my woman testing me, though. Right. Me neither. I don't like the test. I'm not saying I do it, but that's what I'm thinking. You're being lied to, by the way. I just wanted to let you know that. What do you mean? Come on. What do you mean? When they say, oh, it's not that important to me. Are you kidding? Honestly, I think that there's a lot of guys, myself included, it's not a, that ain't a thing. Yeah, gay guys. No, it isn't. Gay men. Gay men don't care about breath. That's not true. That's it. That is not true. See, we've talked about this, and you say that you, you know, for you, a girl with a boob job or whatever, that's like, to you, that's cool. I told you. I didn't necessarily say they had to be a boob job. No, you didn't. But I'm in on it. You're out on the rest? No. My wife doesn't have a boob job. No, but if they're not big, you're not looking, you're not interested. Wow. You are more shallow than I thought. Let me tell you something. I think that it's probably, if we had to think of a real number,
percentage-wise, Woodsy, I think that it's probably 75% that don't care. I bet you fall into a 25% category. And Colin is shaking his head no. Colin, come up to the microphone. Are you with Woodsy on that? Yeah, I'm a fan. Really? I'm a fan. But is it a make or breaker for you? Breasts are a sure way to a man's heart. Really? Absolutely. Breasts and food. Really? Yeah. See the correlation? Yeah, it's like... Do you see the correlation? Breasts and food. I think that there is definitely... It's nature versus nurture, Mikey. That's right. Darwinism, you know, evolution, it's science. I definitely think that men are attracted to a woman's figure, but I also think that it is culturally ingrained. It's a cultural thing. I happen to find a lot of the cultural thing kind of ridiculous. And when I say ridiculous, I mean like ridiculous as in corny. It's a little corny. If I can tell that surgery's been performed, don't like you. I'm in. Really? Weird. It is. I'm telling you. But this move that this girlfriend is doing, which I want to ask my wife about that, I don't know that that's a test because what is a guy supposed to do? That's not much of a test. Guy can't really go any other way.
Maybe she likes girls. Hey, if that's the case, brother, Tim, M1 Tim, you hit the jackpot, pal. Speak for yourself. You hit the jackpot, pal. Speak for yourself. Lauren. I think maybe one of two things here. She might be self-conscious, like I said. Yeah. Also, I like looking at boobs. You do? Yeah. Mark that down. Mark it. Do you mean just as a woman that women do that? Yeah. I mean, they are visually appealing. Absolutely. Maybe she's just actually, I mean, I make comments like that to Matt all the time, and I'm not necessarily testing him. But it might be, oh, really, if he went too far with his comment. Oh, really? Yeah. He'll make comments? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm not a commenter. He'll test the waters. I get filleted for looking. Filleted. Really? Mm-hmm. Well, you can never bring it up. If Matt ever brought it up, I'd be like, whoops. But I can bring it up. Colin, what's up? Colin is a guest in the studio today. Well, I was just going to say, I had a girlfriend that did this once. And I think it's not only a test, but her way of kind of gauging where her boyfriend's thoughts and feelings are for her own looks and appearance. It's a good call. For sure. It's a good call. Yeah, I only want to be looking at my wife's. That's the truth. You're different. I know. You're different. True statement. You're different.
Yeah, but if you don't stick to making it just about your wife, then your thoughts go... Tell me about it. I know. My wife has amazing breasts. Mark that down. What does that say about you? What? That your wife has amazing breasts. Nothing. That I'm lucky. The guy knows what he's doing. M1 Stoney. Hey Mikey, how are you doing today? Good. Hey, I wanted to say, you know, right after I got married to my wife, we were sitting on Mission Bay, and some young lady wearing a couple napkins and a piece of string was very large endowed, was off to our right, and I got, as I was looking over, I saw my wife looking at me, looking, and the only response I could think of was to go caddy and say,
Oh, my gosh. Can you look at that? Oh, I can't believe she's wearing that. Exactly. It has worked to this day. That a boy. The only way you can get out of it. Yep. Isn't that what Jay... That's exactly what Jay... I was, like, listening. I'm like, is that Jay calling from vacation? Jay said that the other day, that he does this thing where he goes, oh, my goodness, that is so ridiculous. Can you believe that girl? Get a good, long, hard look at that, would you? I mean, can you... Just stare at it. I mean, just stare at that. Can you just believe for the next 20 minutes how awful that is? Yeah. That is just terrible. Don't take your eyes off of it because that is just ridiculous. Yeah, I can't look away. Yeah. No. Train wreck. I'm telling you, man, that is definitely, that is not everybody's opinion. 570-1949. Let's do this. Take a quick time out then. Speaking of breast augmentation, one woman's life may have just been saved. Because of it. By the way, an M1 is a Mikey Show listener. When you call in, you turn your radio down, get to the point, and don't cuss. If you are on M1, it makes you part of the M1 Nation. And we'd love to have you call in. Sorry, Jack. I'm a little out of it. See, okay, you've caused an internal meat conflict inside of me.
Ron, I'm pretty sure neither one of us knows what you're talking about. Okay, right. The thing is, I can't decide which of your new grilled sandwiches I like better, the turkey, bacon, cheddar, or the deli trio. Okay. I mean, I love the whole new grilled sandwich thing with the toasted bread, so one has roasted turkey and bacon, but the other, roasted turkey, sliced ham, and salami. Well, they're both delicious. I know, man. I'm torn. There's like a civil war going on inside the country of Ron right now, and I'm not sure which side I should join. Ron. Yeah. You've got some bigger issues, buddy. But right now, I need to turn it over to Miles Taylor, a real-life crew member from Enumclaw, Washington. Fry Jack's new grilled sandwiches, the turkey bacon cheddar, or the deli trio. Made with premium deli meats and cheeses and served on toasted artisan bread at participating restaurants. Tale of lavas. Tale of lavas. Tale of lavas. Tale of lavas. Tale of lavas. Tale of lavas. Mamatesta Taqueria. Authentic Mexican food. Richmond and University in Hillcrest. If I can be Bobby Flay, I can surely blow your mind. Come in and let me put some Mexican in you. This is not a dream. This is reality. Now, more of the Mikey Show on FM 94.9. Hey, make sure you check out NBCSanDiego.com today. There is a big news story about a missing girl from Poway, 17 years old, went running last night and is missing. And it's a big story. It's sort of breaking news. And what I think would be a really good idea would be for people to go to the website NBCSanDiego.com to see a picture of her. And hopefully somebody can help to find her. Please. Her name. Do you have her name?
Let me pull it up here. Her name is, I believe, Chelsea. Chelsea King. Here it is, Chelsea King. And there's a picture on there. If anybody knows any information, obviously call San Diego police and let them know. But again, 17 years old, her name is Chelsea King, and she went running last night. Actually, she went for a run about 2 p.m. in the Rancho Bernardo Community Park when it got dark and her parents hadn't heard from her. They got worried. They called the police. And that's what's going on. And so, man, I just, I hope that everything is okay. Me too. Send out prayers for her. Hopefully they find her. But again, NBCSanDiego.com has a picture of her so that you know what she looks like. Hopefully we can help. How did a woman's breast implants almost save her life? It's crazy. A woman named Lydia Carranza in the Simi Valley area. She works at a dental office. And some guy came in. He was upset because his wife wanted a divorce. So he came into her place of work, which is where Lydia worked, and was planning on shooting her. And in the process, he shot this woman, Lydia Carranza.
Carranza. Who is not his girlfriend. Who is not his girlfriend. She actually worked the front desk. I believe it might have been her husband's office that she was working at here. Right. But yeah, he first shot her in the arm. And then she played dead. And he went right for her heart. Shot her in the heart. Or at least what he thought was. And she said she didn't even think about it. She just felt warmth and wetness. And wasn't even sure what it was. Figured it was probably blood. Turns out. The bullet fragments were millimeters from her heart and her vital organs. And had she not had the implant, she might not be alive today. Really? Wow. Yeah. Now, this is according to her cosmetic surgeon that wants to... is hoping to drum up support to defray the cost of this reconstructive surgery. Now, the hospital isn't officially agreeing with this. They're saying this is not a medical issue. This is actually a ballistics issue. But there's a firearms instructor and deadly force expert witness who says it's entirely plausible. And common sense would dictate that any time you have something that interrupts the velocity of a projectile, it would benefit the object it was trying to strike. Wow.
Crazy, right? And he's saying, you know, I don't want to say a boob job is the equivalent of a bulletproof vest. So don't go getting breast enhancements as a means to deflect a possible incoming bullet. I was going to make an appointment as soon as we were off the air. That's for me. I was just going to say, ladies, go get implants. Yeah. So that they can just be just as a precautionary measure. Go get a boob job. Kevlar boob. Yes. Crazy, though. Hey, thank you, Mama Testa, who came in today. Man, was that good stuff. Mama Testa. Great, great food. They were on the Food Network, had a throwdown with Bobby Flay, and won. They set up a spread. Oh, yeah. Of delicious treats. They entirely justified me staying up past my bedtime. Yes. There you go. Yeah, Jesse, who is our overnight guy, is filling in for Jay today and did a great job. Mm-hmm. If you want to go to Mama Testis, 1417 University Avenue, corner of University in Richmond in Hillcrest. And they use free range meats. They have eight different types of salsa made from scratch daily. They've been featured this month in Westways Magazine. And they really, really are great stuff. Our text is 949mikey at gmail.com. 570-1949 is the number. All right. I got a whole bunch of stories that I still have not had a chance to hit on that I want to get to before we get out of here. Sienna is getting married tomorrow. Yes, she is. Nice, right? Good job. Getting my pink shirt to the dry cleaner this afternoon. Are you really? Yeah. Are you really going to wear a pink shirt? You're not. I want to know what the suit's going to look like. It's not pink, it's salmon. It's not salmon, it's pink. Did you guys hear about the 140-year-old hot dog that was discovered? 140 years old. How do they do that? Are you talking about Bob Barker again? No. No, I'm not. No, this is a Coney Island hot dog, and apparently it's still in pretty good shape. Really? It was found encased in ice underneath the boardwalk's famous... Feltman's Kitchen. How do they know it was 140 years old? They cut it open, Mikey, and they look at the rings. You count the rings. Yeah, you count the rings and you know how old it is. It says, according to the Coney Island History Project, the hot dog still had its original restaurant recipe attached to it. Really? Yep. It's pretty awesome. It was Catherine Hepburn's hot dog. That's right. I originally bought that there in Coney Island.
Back in 1936, I bought it when I was still dating Charlie Chapman. Yeah, see? Yes, I was dating you, Cagney. Do you remember? Yeah, see? Yeah, James Cagney took me to the movie theater, and there was no sound then. Don't you love me, kid? Yes, I do. You remember that hot dog? I still absolutely love you. But I remember the hot dog. It was very expensive. It cost two and a half cents. It was a very expensive date at the time. You remember the song I sang to you that night? Yes, I remember it was Hello, My Baby. Hello, my baby. Hello, my darling. And then you called me a ragtime gal. Maybe my heart's on fire. Shut your mouth. Ridiculous. Still carrying on like that. That's the reason I threw the hot dog at you. It froze in the snow. It's been 175 years of still stupid. Crying out loud. Oh, Norman. Don't hear the loons out on the lake. Do you hear the loons? There they are now. They're wonderful. That's not a loon. Oh, no, it is. It's a lunatic. Sounds like a Wookiee to me. Chewbacca. Sounds like a Wookiee.
Is that right, darling? Is that a loon? There you are. Someone get a net. In the studio? Apparently, Steven Tyler has rejoined Aerosmith, right? Mm-hmm. I didn't even know he was going. Yeah, he had quit. He had quit, and then he got back in, and then he quit again. And then he's back in, and then he quit again. Yeah, he's back. And he's back in. What's the deal? Well, it says that they officially announced that they're cocked, locked, and ready to rock. Whoa. European Summer Tour is going to get kicked off. And then Steven Tyler actually joked and put a video on his website or on the Aerosmith website that says, I just auditioned and I got the gig. That's perfect. That was identical. That was identical to Steven Tyler. Yeah, he's just, uh... Sounded more like Sienna than Steven Tyler. That is true. That is true. Yeah, but it says, look out because here we come.
I love it. What cities do you think would have the scariest taxis? New York has to. NYC. Well, wait a minute. Is this worldwide or just in the country? This is worldwide. Worldwide. Oh, yeah. Tokyo, maybe? Tokyo. A billion people in... Biggest city in... Hong Kong. Biggest city in the world. Okay. Right? If you say so. All right. I bet you. Hmm. Is it a list or what is it? How do they do it? El Paso. Turns out I'm just reading this for the first time here. And my guess would have been correct. Tokyo? No, Bangkok. All right. I got picked up from the airport at Bangkok. I was like, oh, for sure, I'm dying. This is imminent death. I'm going to die. It was so... Lanes, like, they don't pay attention to the painted lines or anything like that. Just like... You were actually there? Uh-huh. What were you doing there? Just traveling. Just passing through. Auditioning for a Disney play? Yeah. Right? That was Hong Kong. Yeah, yeah. But no, yeah, I was just traveling. Give me the top five. Just rattle through them. Geez, well, it's not listed in that way, Mike. They don't do it like that? What do they think? But it says Bangkok topped the most dangerous. Yeah. And... New York City's got to be on. We can make them up. New York. I know it's on there. Chicago. New York terrifies me driving in cabs. El Paso. Yeah.
Brawly. Well, color me embarrassed. All right. It's great. Can you tell me about the teacher that gave the lap dance and it was caught on video? Yes. And now there's a whole big uproar about it. This was at a Canadian high school. Crazy Canucks. They're having a bad week in Canada, man, between getting their butt handed to them in the Olympics and smoking cigars and drinking on the ice after they won the gold last night and now stripping teachers. Mm-hmm. Well, the two teachers have been suspended without pay. They were actually at a high school pep rally. And I saw the video. It's ridiculous. And, yeah, they got the videos actually been being called two teachers, one chair. How like what kind of lack of judgment do you got to have? Oh, my gosh. It says a freshman. Now, this is a 14 year old had the sense to say at first we were laughing and then it was like, oh, that's a little too far.
If a 14-year-old is saying that, it's probably a little too far. Really? One of them, I don't know. Come on. Yeah, both of them or one of them. Let's see here. And you're being inappropriate. Of course. What 14-year-old boy is not going to want to see two hot teachers strip? Apparently that one. One of them was a man. Adam Lambert? One of them was a man, Woods. Oh, never mind then. And it says he was sticking his head into her crotch, into her private area. Gosh darn, that happening at a high school? Mm-hmm. That culture is weird, really. Well, I don't know if it's a cultural thing. I think it was just a lapse of judgment there. But, yeah, that video is all over YouTube. Any search engine you run, two teachers, one chair. A high school is called Winnipeg School Division. No, it's not. It's called Churchill High School. Hey, I'm reading this through coffee stains, by the way. You missed that opening break, man.
For people that are listening right now, missed when we started on the air today. Poor Lauren dropped her coffee all over her news. And it spilled all over the floor. There's a picture of it on the Mikey Show fan page at Facebook. You type in the Mikey Show and you can join our fan page. She spilled it everywhere. And I mean, the open song was playing. We were ready to rock. Stories were done. We're ready to go. And I look over. And it looked like a volcano erupted. I was so organized. And I was like, I'll be right back. And I went. My foot got caught on the cable. Done. Coffee flew everywhere. Somehow missed my laptop. Thank you. I felt really bad for you. I did too. Yeah, it makes three of us. Emits our laughter. Woodsy, what foreigner song do you want to hear? How about Long Way From Home? Do you have that one? Such a jam. I don't care who you are. We're going to wrap this puppy up pretty soon. We got a puppy? That's right, dude. That's right. And you can call us if you want to. 570-1949. You're awesome. Thank you, Shane. We appreciate it, dude. Love you guys. We appreciate it. End of the show on Friday. I tell you my story. I give you my testimony at the end of the show on Friday. And what that is, is...
Sharing my life with you and hopefully there's something in my story that you can relate to. The majority of my childhood, I spent feeling extremely different from other kids because of my insecurity. Always felt different. That insecurity from when I was a kid took me to a place when I was a teenager where it continued. Even though nobody knew it. Inside, I felt lonely. And maybe there are people listening right now that have that feeling, that feeling of loneliness. There's almost nothing worse. You've been lonely and you still have people around you. You still have this ability to feel lonely. When I got into my 20s, I still felt that. I still felt that sense of loneliness. And when I got into my mid-20s, I started drinking.
Now, I remember my brother saying to me one time because he knew that in our family there was alcoholism. And I will never forget my brother saying to me, don't you think that that is a potential problem? I said, I don't think so. I don't think so for me. I thought he was wrong, but he was right. And drinking as much as I did eventually led me to being addicted to it. I've tried to fill emptiness in my life with just about everything you can possibly think of. I have filled emptiness in my life with drugs, methamphetamine, pills. I've had eating disorders. I have felt very desperate. Alone, when I was in my early 30s, my dad called me over the house and he said, if you continue to drink, I can't have a relationship with you anymore. And that was devastating to me.
Deep down inside, I knew that my dad was right on, that he loved me and he was helping me. I used to close all the drapes and all the blinds in my house, turn the ringers off, turn the ringer off on my phone, and isolate myself because I didn't want anybody to know how much I drank. One night I was laying in bed and I was looking up at the ceiling and I was crying, but I was crying like those tears that you don't make noise, it's just... Dreaming down the side of your face. That kind of tears. And I knew that if I didn't do something soon, that I was probably going to die. Because I was drinking so much. And I asked Jesus Christ to come into my life and change my life. And he did. Today, I'm married. And I have a three-year-old son named Jake. Twin boys, Luke and Ryan. Beautiful wife who I'm really in love with. Her name's Rebecca.
I have a new future and a new hope. I'm blessed beyond anything I could have ever imagined for myself. Every bit of that to the influence of Jesus Christ in my life. I don't tell you the story because I want to force you to do anything. I only tell you the story because it's my story. It's mine. It belongs to me. And I also want you to know that if you feel any of the feelings that I've told you about, you can go to MikeyShow.com. And there's a link there. That says help. And if you click on that link. There's help for eating disorders. Depression. There's help for addiction. There's a ton more there that you can check out. There's a whole help section. At the end of the show. Every Friday. I play you a song. And it's a song that I really want you to listen to the words of. The song is called Tunnel. It's by a band called Third Day. And the album is called Wherever You Are.
Really listen to the words of the song if you feel any of the kind of stuff that I was talking to you about, because this song is about hope. We will see you again on Monday morning. Mikey Show's out.
