The show covered the Fukushima nuclear crisis, noting workers' return and radiation concerns, and paid tribute to Nate Dogg after his death. Bracket predictions were debated, with Garrett picking Ohio State to win it all, while Jay backed San Diego State. Other highlights included Jason Bateman's confession about crying at the Justin Bieber movie, a Southwest flight misunderstanding involving a Muslim woman, the Jersey Shore roast of Donald Trump, and Jay's bumbling Titanic narration.

I'm sure there's going to be people out there who are disappointed this morning. Because on the Mikey Show Facebook page yesterday, I believe that was Mike who was admitting that he was viciously ill. But yet, he was going to take one for the team, and I think he said, quote on the Facebook page, I'll be there with bells on. That was a lie. He is not here. There are no bells. Apparently, there are no bells. I do not have bells, and my name is Garrett. Garrett! Garrett! And, boy, I'm happy to be here. Happy to see everybody. Welcome to the Mikey Show. It's FM 94.9. Oh, no, I'm going to play it out, man. Oh, my God. But Sienna's like, turn my crap down. I'm like, it's too loud in my car. I was looking for the same thing, like... I know, we're allowed to go. Garrett loves Trololo. I do. It makes me smile, man. Shut up. Shut up. Stop. Move forward.
Charlie Jane. Nice. Welcome to the Mikey Show. Mikey is out sick today, so we are carrying on without him. My name is Garrett. I'm 45 years old. I'm the program director at the radio station. There's a new microphone in here, and I'm just getting used to it. You had to lift it up like a whole foot because he's a little bit taller than Mike. Somebody's little tiny heart just broke at home while he's listening. So sweet. He better not be listening. Raise the chair a little bit. He's listening. He needs to be sleeping. I give it five minutes before the first call in. Really? Garrett, before we get started, we're going to play a game with you. Okay. We like to call this game Seven Questions. And you have to answer one-word answers. Ain't going to happen. We all came up with these questions this morning in here. Yeah. Are you ready? You know it's not possible for me to answer a question with one word. In the spirit of the bit, you have to answer in one word. Are you ready? It can't happen. Are you ready? Yeah, sure. This is the home of the Ford Motor Company. Dearborn. This is also called the Motor City. One word. Detroit. All right, number two. In which American city did they film the first Rocky? That would be... No, one word.
Hold on. Really? Thinking, wait, wait, hold on. One word. One word. Manny Yonk. Clown. You're being a clown. You are being difficult. The space needle is in this city. Seattle. This city in Wisconsin is named after a famous Native American sport. Lacrosse? The NFL's Lions are from this town. Pontiac? Really? Oh, come on. Detroit. This is our afternoon DJ here at FM 94.9. Tommy? This band's last album featured the single Uprising. Oh, Muse. Oh, wow. It took a minute. Muse! All right. Detroit. Seven questions. Seven questions with Garrett, and we are done.
Yeah, actually the Ford Motor Company is located in Dearborn, Michigan. Is it really? I figured Detroit, but what do I know? Which is a suburb of the great Detroit area. This mic is weirding me out. It sounds crackling. I think we need to reset your processor. I think I'm too close to it. I'll work it out. I'll figure it out. So it's the Mikey Show. I'm Garrett. And to my left is Sienna, the lovely and talented Sienna who will keep me on track all morning long. I will try. And did you get any sleep last night? Or once again, are you dealing with lack of sleep? No, I'll basically deal with lack of sleep until, say, just 25. 55. Yeah. You'll probably lack sleep then because you'll be wondering what's going on. I know. Yeah, I know. I wake up numerous times. You know who you are? You're my mom. Yeah. You're my mom that never slept and probably still doesn't sleep. My mom still doesn't sleep. Three, maybe two to three hours a night. And especially when I was 18 to... 30 she would be like I just I don't sleep I'm like mom I live in Chicago it's okay you can go to sleep she's like just worried about you yeah it's the worst you are my mom that can never can never sleep my mom sleeps just great but you know happy birthday my mom says
Just because you get older doesn't mean you're still not my kid. It's true. Bottom line, if I were Woodsy's parent, I'd be completely freaked out as well. Oh, come on. I'd be like, what are you up to? What are you doing? You know what I'm doing? I'm laying on the couch watching Braveheart again with a big dip of snuff in. Donut. Donut. Resting on my belly. Just flipping furniture if you don't get an eclair. Yes. Yes. My parents do not have to worry. Woodsy's a sports guy, by the way. Woodsy, 35 years old, sports guy who loves donuts and dipping snuff. That is true. That is. In that order. You really know how to sum up a man in a few words. Drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. Really? Thank you, Dean. L.O.B., of course, is the assistant producer of the show. Also a local stand-up comic. Very funny person. I love you. Do you love me? That is my mom doing her character of other mother. True story. And the guy behind the glass because we've got to keep him isolated from the rest of us. That would be Jay. Jay is 106. Oh, my God. And the producer of the program. Somebody's going to take some liberties today, I have a feeling. Player of dirty clips. Yes. I can't wait. Yeah, I don't even see you move, by the way. You've got it down so well, I try to, like, you know. I try to throw my ball. Eyeball when you're going to, like, throw something off. And it's like sleight of hand, man. Mm-hmm.
Got to do it. Very impressive. So today we also will be doing Jay, the old man that does acting at 730. Yeah. Oh, no. There's the jingle. Damn it. By the way, I didn't get any kind of an email notification about this morning. It's tomorrow. It's tomorrow. It's the science. Tomorrow's science. Are you going to be wearing safety glasses and a lab coat when you do the acting bid today? No, I'm not. There's no need for safety. He'll be wearing tights and a beret. Tomorrow there'll be need for safety. The old man who does science will be explosive. So there's no possibility of your injury or anybody else's injury today with your J, the old man who does that? No, just your ears. Just his ego. All right. Good. The word of the day is cheesesteak. Where would one find the best cheesesteak? It depends on who you ask. No, it doesn't. Answer it! He's looking at it. Would that be Philly? Jersey. He's so scared to say the word. It's Gaglione, brother. See, I'm going to do everything possible to derail your opportunity to give you the same words today. You can't get me, dude. What's the prize for today's Word of the Day? The prize for today's Word of the Day is a four-pack to the NASCAR Nationwide Races Royal Purple 300.
At the Auto Club Speedway, Saturday, March 26th. That's worth $120. Get some. And San Diego Derby Dolls versus Rocky Mountain Fight Club. Is that right? Bryce Bieber. Oh, boy. Why? Wow. See, I didn't even see you do that. I didn't even see you go there. That's happening March 26th, also at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, so you'll have to choose. That's the Banked Track Roller Derby. That's worth $30. It's a party. What? I haven't heard that in a while. I know. All right. So, you know, not to derail the comedy here, but what's going on with Japan? We should probably make sure people know what the heck is happening. Okay. Well, yesterday, this is the big story. Japan ordered the 50 emergency workers that are at the devastating Fukushima nuclear plant. Now, they were told to leave there. Initially, there were 800 nuclear workers there, then taken down to 50. And then they were told to leave. But they are back. 180 are back. As of right now, they were there for desperate efforts to cool the overheating reactors, try to prevent catastrophe even more. And they were.
you know, releasing pressure that had built up in one of the reactors. And they're trying to cool the fuel rods. So they're back, but just really scary. Another story, speaking of the radiation, tests revealed traces of radiation in the tap water in Fukushima City. 50 miles from the Daichi nuclear plant. Gosh. So it's just so scary. Radiation is going everywhere, and it's really sad. A couple other things when talking about Japan. Toyota actually announced earlier today that they will not be resuming vehicle production at the Japanese plants for another week. Wow. Just changes everywhere. Also, Japan's emperor, Emperor Akihito, made a speech yesterday that people are already saying is historic. Jay, did you happen to find any of that or no? I didn't find any. Okay. I'll read you what he said. He obviously was talking about the tsunami and the...
nuclear catastrophe, the earthquake. He said, I truly hope the victims of the disaster never give up hope, take care of themselves and live strong for tomorrow. Also, I want all citizens of Japan to remember everyone who has been affected by the devastation, not only today, but for a long time afterwards and help with the recovery. It was it was a great speech. And hopefully we'll try and find that audio and let you hear it. A good story that I thought, you know. I like to give some miracle stories, especially in such an awful time. A four-month-old baby was just found in the rubble, alive and okay. I mean, it's... It's really amazing. My mom told me this all the time when Sage was born and I was so scared of every little jostle, you know, and she says, you know, babies are strong. You hear about them surviving in earthquakes and stuff like that. You hope that they don't have to, but there was a team of Japanese soldiers that were going through home to home and making their way through a pile of debris. They thought they heard a baby cry and they all looked at each other and thought, no, there's no way.
Heard it again. Found the baby. Saw her. She was in a pink bear suit outfit. Just the sweetest little thing. And her parents actually survived as well. They were separated. And just the reunion was amazing. And just so sweet. And just so happy to hear that. But also a seven-year-old woman was found alive. suffering from hypothermia. But, you know, these are four days after a tidal wave goes through and these people have survived. So I hope for a lot more survivals. But now they're saying over 12,000 deaths have been predicted. The number just keeps increasing. And Tokyo stocks, Japanese stocks rebounded earlier today with the leading stock index recovering nearly 6% from the two-day plunge. It's incredible to think about the bravery of those 50 workers that stayed behind. I mean, they were hanging in there and they were hanging in there and hanging in there. And then, of course, they they had to get out and they went back in. But I was watching Anderson Cooper last night and they had some expert on. He was talking about the amount of radiation that comes from one of those reactors in a year. OK, over the course of a year that one of those reactors was like shooting that out, that amount, 10 times that amount.
per hour to give you an idea of just how much radiation that you'd be exposed to in that situation. I hope they have good suits. Yeah. I mean, you know, so it really makes you think about, of course, the nuclear power plants. And, you know, the Bush administration and the Obama administration both had been pushing for more nuclear power plants in the U.S. I say no. And, you know, now you sit there and you think about it, and they talk about how overall it's a pretty clean kind of energy. Right. But it makes you take pause, all of a sudden go, wait a minute. Yeah, maybe that's not the way to go. While we're talking about the nuclear power plants, also another note is in Germany, they are actually shutting down 10 of their 17 nuclear power plants. Chancellor Angela Merkel said that they want to leave only 10 of the stations open and still generating because they were around since 1980. And they're saying all of those ones that were built in 1980 will stay closed. Well, that's the thing, too. One of the experts that they had on the local news here was talking about the San Onofre plant. And one of the differences with the one in Japan that they're having an issue with, the big one, is when it was built. And they're saying there's a pretty big difference between, you know, ones that were built in the 70s and going forward. But still. Absolutely. They didn't have the containment. When was San Onofre built? Not sure.
I wish I could tell you that. I wish you could, too. Makes me nervous. I don't know the answer, but it's pretty mind-blowing. I wasn't there. Weren't you? I can tell you, though, that the whole thing just makes you incredibly nervous. Sure. There are things you can't foresee. I mean, they talk about how it's built on a fault line. Oh, smart. It's brilliant. Anybody who lives on the coast, I mean, you're on the Rose Canyon Fault, which is the one that would probably be most... problematic for anybody living here. Sure. Because it's the one, it's the bigger one, I guess, that affects San Diego specifically. And, you know, they say it was built to withstand a 7.0. They think the probability of the biggest quake on that fault is probably a 6.4 to a 6.5. Cutting it a little close. Yeah. Well, you know. Why not build it for a 9.0? Build it for a 15. Yeah. Well, because it'll be a lot of times when you're building something. They think about it, cut costs here, cut corners here. It's like, oh, well, if we're going to build for a 9.0, it's going to cost millions and millions and millions. Wow. So they skip it. Not exactly an area I would want to be skimping on at this point, right? Yeah. So incredible stuff. So what else is going on? So I understand Nate Dogg has passed.
Yes, singer, you would know him. Made his debut on Dr. Dre's The Chronic CD. He actually died last night at the age of 41. He suffered a stroke in 2008 and has never really recovered from then. Now they're saying the cause of death is yet to be released, but it has been confirmed and it's just so sad. Such a good song. Sorry, LLB. I know. I know this must be a tough day for you. It is. It is. I feel it. There he is. Yeah, this is Nate Dogg and Warren G Regulators. Is Michael McDonald on this too? Yeah, they sampled it. Some of his friends have tweeted about his death, and Snoop Dogg wrote, We lost a true legend in hip-hop and R&B. One of my best friends and a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at Pauly High, where we met. Ludacris, you know, there's a certain void in hip-hop's heart that can never be filled. Exhibit said we lost a soldier, a father, a legend, a homie. My condolences go out to his family. Just really sad.
This is one of the greatest hip-hop songs I've ever recorded. Have you heard this, Garrett? Well, I'm familiar with it now. You know, thanks to the Michael McDonald sample. Yeah. 41 years old. Too young, man. Way too young. Have you ever noticed that some of the best hip-hop songs always sample? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Some of the nerdiest songs ever. Yeah. I mean, because they're great songs, but they're not exactly the coolest songs, but suddenly you make it a hip-hop record with the sample, and it... Elevates it to like super cool. It's a jam. That sucks, man. He was great. I always liked him. I didn't even know he had a stroke. I always liked him. No, me too. Yeah, he never really recovered after that stroke. So sad. All right. Well, I just checked my email and I realized that the brackets within the building are due. Like, oh, I don't know. Sometime this morning, and I haven't even started yet, Woods. I mean, I don't even know what I'm doing. I mean, so... I got pressured to do it in, like, two minutes. Oh, boy. Usually I take, you know, a day to research. We knew it was coming up. I know, but Woods was like, don't research. I am the Magna Carta of the madness. I am the constitution of your obsession. I am a bracket. But I don't hold you up.
I break you down. Oh, you fill me in all right. Blind devotion and best guess. Pitiful bias and maniacal prayer. You talk about me. Grind about me. Pour over me. Study me. Copy me. Post me. Pass me. And then you curse me. You crumple me. You cross me out. For three weekends and a day, I'm everywhere. On your desk. In your mind. At the office. In your house. I'm in the White House. I'm whatever you want me to be and rarely what you expect me to be. I am sweet and I am elite. I am the final and I am the title. Teams are my seeds. The tourney is my harvest. And my crop? I am Coppin State and U.S. Reid. I'm Edney down the floor and George from the corner. I'm Drew off the wing. Leitner at the buzzer.
I am Georgetown. And I am George Mason. Valvano on the court. And Butler at the buzzer. Madness. I am magic. So pick me up. Fill me out. Send me in. It's March. Oh, get some. I like that. Get some. I like that. It's the most. Filling out your bracket. Here's me every year. I go through and I'm like, you know. I don't know much about college basketball, so I just start feeling it out. Every year I end up with four number ones in the final freaking four. I always do. I purposely will end up with it, and then I go backwards, and I'm like, it's never happened, so I have to change it. Look, I just looked at my picks. Four number ones. I've got in the final four again. Duke, Ohio State, Kansas, and Pittsburgh. I'm like, son of a gun. The scoreboard doesn't lie. Never has. So I picked, I've got Ohio State to win it all. LOB has Pittsburgh to win it all. Jay Isbell has our own San Diego State Aztecs to win the whole thing. And Sienna also has Pittsburgh. And I've got...
We were talking about San Diego State. I've got them in the Sweet 16. LLB's got them in the Elite Eight. Sienna's got them in the Final Four. Jay's got them in the Final Four, and Sienna has them also in the Final Four. You've got to like STSU's chances when you kind of look at the West region. I think they can definitely get to the Elite Eight. And it all depends. The thing that's crazy is Duke could get beat. Yeah. I mean, you know, you take a look at who they've got to play or who they might match up with, and there is a chance, you know, if Duke doesn't make it against SDSU, I think they can beat them. And I think SDSU could maybe beat Duke. Could be. It's going to be. Not could be. It's going to be an awesome tournament. They had actually a couple play-in games last night. UNC Asheville won 81. over Arkansas Little Rock, 81-77, and Clemson beat UAB 70-52. That was a dirt nap. How do you like that, man? UNC Asheville, they have to play in to play Pitt. Yeah, play in to play Pitt, which is just vicious. And then today, Texas-San Antonio against Alabama State and USC against Virginia Commonwealth tonight at 6. So, hey, all 16 games start tomorrow, which is going to be...
Awesome. I can't wait. Such a fun day looking at your brackets, and usually mine ends up a turd. But yeah, I don't know who Mikey's picks were. I think he got his done. So this is the Mikey Show official brackets. Jay was our champion last year. Couldn't name one college basketball player. Nope. You never know. Did you pick the overall last year, or was it just on points? Points, I think. Points, yeah. So what, nobody in here picked the winner last year? No. We were all out pretty early. Yeah. Well, you know, it's funny when you look at it because ours in the building, in the office, is due sometime today, I guess. And I haven't even really taken a look at it yet. I mean, I haven't had a chance other than the big teams. And you go through and you think, oh, man, I'm going to suck at this. But when you really think about it and you do the bracket thing, you do it many years, you realize the real opportunity isn't so much in the early rounds because you only get a few points for picking those games correct. It's the big stuff. I mean, if you're still alive with a number of teams by the time you get to the Sweet 16, you get a shot. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I've never been good at picking brackets ever, ever, ever, ever. So, seriously, your final four are all the number one seeds? Yeah, every year. I try not to, and I have, like, upsets. I pick upsets on purpose. Yeah. And I'm like, oh, I watched Marquette play for 15 minutes. They should win. You know, like, I don't know. And then it gets to the big game, and it's like, okay.
Duke Marquette. I'm like, well, Duke's going to win that. And then, you know, Pitt's going to win that. And, you know, Kansas is going to win that. And I end up just. So who do you have winning all? You have Ohio State? I got Ohio State winning all. Okay. All right. Ohio State. That's a pretty good guess. We hit number one overall seat. Yeah. I want them to lose so bad. Oh, ditto. So bad. But I want $100 or $80. How much? It'll be $100, but $20 of it will be yours. Right. We're doing $20 each per bracket on the Mikey Show. Wow. Yeah. Okay. That's a pretty good takeaway, man. It's not bad. So is it just what? Who's all in? Just the five of us. Just the five of you? Yep. I can't buy in on this one? No. Even though I'm like a guest host, I can't get in? Eh. Eh. I'd have to send you the invite. You'd have to fill it out. We love you, Garrett. Garrett. That's way too much of a hassle for me. I don't want to have to deal. Forget about it. I'm sorry. We love you. Wow. Don't fire us. All right, so coming up, one of Mike and Woodsy's favorite actors actually admitted to crying during the Justin Bieber movie. Oh, boy. We'll tell you who it is next on the Mikey Show. It's FM 94.9. Nice choice. Thank you. This is one of my favorite albums of the year. I love it. Now, were you hip to it before it was recommended or not? No.
Garrett, you turned me on to Best Coast. Best Coast! Hillary will have to take credit. This is her pick. This is, like, one of my favorite records. This is super beachy music. It is. That's why I love it. It's the Mikey Show. We have another FM 94.9 Big Bear Trip getaway weekend presented by Scion. It's happening March 25th through the 27th. And this includes lift tickets for you and three friends, plus a room at the very... Nice and gorgeous Northwoods resorts. Oh, I bet. Get some. And you get to hang for the weekend with Jay and Woods. Hey, I'm off the clock. Which scares the hell out of me. Technically, I'm off the clock. Jay will be working. No, you're not off the clock. I am off the clock. You are on the clock, mister. Zero percent. You are helping. Am I? Yeah. That's great. Jay, yeah. I've got to go. You're getting a hookup. He's not getting paid. Oh, then I'll help. You still have to pay to go, but it's a heck of a good deal. It's only... $200. All that is $200. So if you're going with four people, that's $50 a person. But the deal is the last time we did it, we had people literally camping out outside the building. True story. Such a good deal. For two days. Scared me to death when I was walking into it. Oh, wow, you're in a tent. So to make sure that doesn't happen again because the security around the building was freaked, registration is happening. So in other words, you have to register.
to be able to purchase the package in advance. And registration closes at 10 a.m. tomorrow. No, it's today. 10 o'clock today. And it's random selection. It'll be random selection. So they're going to pick, I don't know how many. Lottery style. Lottery style. Jay and I are selecting, so send a picture. Yeah, send a picture of yourself. Shut up. Go to FM949SD.com. Make sure you're not Lauren or Sienna or else you won't get picked. Clearly. Woods and Jay just got hooked up with this trip. Lauren and I just take it to the house. Oh, my God. I seem to recall listening and you guys had the opportunity to go and you kind of blew it off. No. Really? They waited until after it was all arranged. Lauren has an event. She can't go anyway. I can't go to part of it. You can. Okay, then come on up. I wasn't allowed to go to the last one either. You know what I'm doing? I'm actually buying a cabin and I'm inviting them to come up. That's because you have 17 members in your family. But hey, I'm inviting you guys. Come on up. Will they? No, they won't. That's because we want our own room. We don't want to stay with your family. We want what's fair. I love your family, but I don't want to be like hearing you and Kim. Ever just complain?
Ever just get hooked up with stuff? Yeah. I liked how when you made the initial offer, there was clearly an audible silence like, uh-oh. There's no uh-oh. He's calling us up. There's no uh-oh. I don't want to sleep on the couch knowing Jay who knows what this kind of place is. Yeah, that's true. One bedroom. It's a nice cabin. Capes 10. It's a homemade cabin, Sienna. I'm building it. Jasper and I are building it. It's in Temecula, but it's close enough. Wow. It's got an outhouse in the back. I appreciate the offer, Jay. Yeah, thank you. Yeah, they sound appreciative, don't they? There's no sarcasm. We have our own private room. Jaded. Scorned. Jay, the old man that does acting, happening this morning at 7.30. Have we got a scene for Jay today, ladies and gentlemen? Now, he does not get to see the scene in advance, does he?
How does that work? I printed it out. I picked it. It really doesn't matter. No matter how much planning he has, it almost will be worse. If he just winged it, it may be better. If he plans it, it's gold. I noticed the font size is about seven times bigger. It was so small last time. It's like font 18. Is he required to do any type of dialect? accent? No. Just pronounce the words. Just read, basically. Yeah, just try. Can I suggest sometime I'd just really like to have him do a scene? I'd like to hear him doing the De Niro character from Taxi Drive. Absolutely. You send those in, Garrett. Are you talking to me? You send them to woods at mikeyshow.com. Good. The word of the day is cheesesteak. So don't call now. Don't call now. Yes, use it in a sentence. But at some point this morning, we'll use that in a sentence, I guess. And you'll have to call in. And today's prize will be a four-pack of tickets to the NASCAR Nationwide Series Royal Purple 300 at the Auto Club Speedway Saturday, March 26th. Also, tickets for the San Diego Derby Dolls vs. Rocky Mountain Fight Club, which is also March 26th at Delmar Fairbury. Tastes good. Is that you? No, I don't know what you're talking about.
All right. Okay. So who is the Nancy boy who cried at the Justin Bieber movie? What? I wasn't a Belieber until about a week before him. I have a four-year-old daughter who demanded that we take her to go see that movie. So my wife and I took her. Four years old. And it was good. It was going along very well. It's a great documentary. It was in 3D. We've got the big glasses on. And about midway through the movie, I'm bawling like a little school girl. But not because I'm, you know, I'm, oh, Justin, but because it gets very, very touching. It's like this great movie. And, you know, I've got the big 3D glasses on, so I'm hoping that, you know, the pools of tears are not going to break through the bottom of the glasses and flood my cheeks and out me to my wife. and she takes off her glass. She starts wiping her face. She looks over at me, and I surrender, and I take them off, and I wipe my face, and we just look at each other. We hold each other. This is Jason Bateman, if you don't know. Jason Bateman. Our daughter is nine, and she's sitting there in the theater like this.
Are you guys crying? Are you crying? Are you guys crying? Why are you crying? Yes, it's very emotional. I'm the only one that's going to cry. You have a man crush on you, don't you? Beaver? No. Oh, Beaver? Yeah, big time. It's fantastic. Arrested Development was one of the greatest shows ever. And he's been, every movie I've seen that guy in, man, he's made me laugh. Would you guys ever... A T.C. Extract. I saw it. I laughed. I loved it. I thought it was so funny. Would you guys ever go see that movie with me? What, the Beaver thing? Beaver? Yeah. Are you out of your mind? Yeah, but... I'm hearing it from a lot of people. You know I'd cry. That's why I won't go. Let's go. I'll get audio. Let's do it. Let's do it for the show. Let's go. There are movies out there. There are movies that you take your kids to that I think it's okay to cry at. Like Toy Story 3. Yeah. How to Train Your Dragon. Blubbering Mess. How to Train Your Dragon made you cry? Oh, yes. I was pregnant. Okay, that's probably why. But I still would cry. But see now, and it's funny because Toy Story 3, I'm not sure, like if you don't have kids. you would have cried during that. But for me, I was a mess during that because it's that transition where you see, you know, the kid, the little boy from the first two movies grows up, right? He's got to get rid of the toys. Brutal. The other one that is a total tearjerker for grown men, I think, Charlotte's Web. Charlotte's Web. Yeah. What about Old Yeller? I read the book, Charlotte's Web. I never saw the movie. Oh, it's so good. You cried when you read the book. I think I did. I was little.
When the movie came out, and I go, Julia Roberts is the voice of Charlotte. I don't remember that much. But I remember going to the movie. It was a few years ago. And I'm sitting there with my sons at the movie, and Gavin is a blubbering mess. And the minute he goes, I'm gone, gone, gone. And then, you know, my little guy, Dempsey, he was just mad. Just mad, you know? It's like he didn't even process it yet. But, you know, it's okay to cry at movies like that. The Justin Bieber movie? Come on, really? The Justin... It's touching, I think, because... Why is it touching? Okay, I haven't seen it, and I know you're going to make fun, and I never thought I would be saying this, because I'm not a Belieber. But... Stop using that word! Justin Bieber Belieber. But no, everyone says it's so good, and it shows how hard he worked as a little kid. I know, I'm sorry, I'm just going to stop. Stage mom real good. What? Hey, good morning. Oh, who's this? Hey, it's Dempsey. Dempsey. Hi. Garrett's little boy. Are you up and moving already? Yeah, I'm already up. You woke me up when you left. Oh, Garrett. Why don't you be quiet? Hey, I want to clear something up for the record. What's that? I never cried at that freaking movie. He didn't say you did. I didn't say you did. I see your brother cried. Absolutely not. Your big brother cried. The only person that cried was my dad Garrett. That's true.
It's not true. Hey, what are you doing? Where's the Mexican? Oh, wow. That's what you call him at home. Garrett, you shouldn't just say things like that. Damn, come on. Wow. Really pushing the envelope. I cannot believe that you would call and say such a thing, young man. Hey, I learned by watching you. Garrett, you shouldn't speak like that. You know, I think that this is absolutely not true, and I can't believe you're saying such a thing. I think he's sick. I think he's super sick. Dempsey, how old are you? I don't know how old I am. How old is your son Dempsey? He is nine. That's right. Lucky guess. Lucky guess. So, hey, what's going on? It's Philly. All right, you, get ready for school. I'm ready. I already got my Black Keys t-shirt on, and I'm ready to rock. Is it free dress day? Hey, did I just ask Coast? That was a recommended last month. Wow. What's your brother Gavin? What kind of t-shirt is he wearing in school? Moose. Who cares? He says moose. Hey, Dad. Yeah. What time you get off? Oh, no. Well, I'm hoping since I get to do this, I get to leave early today.
I talked to Rick Jackson. You're not leaving early. Trust me. Rick R. Jackson has not let me leave early. Why are you talking to your dad's boss? He talks to me every morning. He says, good morning. Every morning. Okay, I got to go. Detroit. Get ready for school. Get ready for school. Sweet kid. That kid. impossible to get him moving in the morning. Like, right now, ever since the time change, he uses the excuse of total darkness at 6am to be like pokey and not move. My new bit with the time change is I am like, wow, it's 7 o'clock and it's light out. I cannot wind down. This summer's going to be fantastic. You guys will adjust. It'll happen. But the hardest thing is getting up now because at this point, The light was already on at 6 a.m. when you guys were coming out. Yeah, that's true. For me, it's killing me. When I was a kid, I was the same as Dempsey. No. You're like him now. I'm still like that. There are a lot of similarities between you and my youngest son. Yeah. I act like a nine-year-old. You do. Fair enough. Played baby Taylor guitars. Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. Fair enough. Sienna, tell us about this story. This is interesting because this happened here in San Diego.
The Muslim woman who was escorted off a Southwest flight. This is so crazy. All right, so this happened on Sunday morning, 8.15 a.m. It's a flight to San Jose. It's a woman. She's a graduate from San Diego State and is Muslim, has a scarf on, and is sitting, boarded the flight. The flight's about to take off. She's on her phone, and the flight attendant thinks she hears this woman say, quote, It's a go. Now, when she hears this, she obviously freaks out. You know, she puts two and two together. It's a go. Not really a good thing to say. And this Muslim woman gets escorted off the flight. Now, her luggage or or she was not searched. However, they led her to the Southwest ticket counter and they let her go on the next flight after they figured everything out. Because what the woman said is that she was getting off the phone and said, I've got to go. Which seems reasonable. Right. I've got to go. I'm getting off the phone. But the flight attendant thought she said, it's a go. And now a local Islamic advocacy group is calling for an apology from Southwest because, you know, this seems ridiculous in their eyes. But they're doing all the research and they're trying to find out exactly what did happen. But this woman, I'm sure. But hey, her bags were free. Yeah, her bags were free. She's getting off the phone.
Well, that's reasonable to think that, you know, when they're walking through the aisle and saying, all right, everybody get off your phone, you would say, I've got to go. Yeah, I've got to go. I say that pretty much every time. Yeah, I've got to go. You've got to go. Right. Yeah, but, you know, if they're looking at you, you probably aren't under suspicion, are you? Racial profiling. It's a little bit of profiling, I'd say. She had a headscarf, and a Southwest crew member said that the woman looked very suspicious. Oh, boy. I just get... That's really unfortunate. Yeah. I get singled out to go through the body scan thing when there are men working the body scan machine. But Sienna does too. Oh, yeah. I haven't gone to an airport. You just wait. How about you? You get singled out? My wife got body scanned. Really? Weird. Yeah. I did not. I can't imagine why. All the women around me were seeming to go through the scanner. It was like one in every five people would be a man. That's so annoying. Yeah. Maybe I get a job at the airport. Creeper. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, but the benefits. The benefits are probably okay, but the money probably. Yeah, that's true. So, Ella B., you mentioned this just shortly, but you got your tailor yesterday. I did. Your recap. Everybody's buying tailors real good. A bunch of guitar players around here. It's funny. We lent her Dempsey's.
Dempsey's got a baby, Taylor, right? And he's been beating it around for a couple of years. He does a Dwayne Eddy thing real good. And so LLB had it. I had it. Yes, and then I went to Taylor to look at the baby and the big baby, and then they showed me something in between, which is the GS Mini, which is, I don't know, probably like three fists. Wait, wait, wait. Sorry, I loved it. I'm sorry. Hold on. You actually went east of the 15 yesterday? I did. Well, no, no. You went deep in the heart of El Cajon? I have been there three times. The border of El Cajon and Santee? Three times in the last week. I went to Taylor first to get a demo of all the different guitars. Then I went... hiking in Mission Gorge. Then I went back to Taylor yesterday to pick up my guitar. Because you're coastal types, you know. Oh, yeah. North coastal. You rarely slum it out in East County with us. But I'll be going back. We're going to go camp and do some more trails at Mission Gorge. It's good hiking out there. Dynamite hiking out there. Rattlesnakes. Absolutely. So far, I have only played an E minor chord and the guitar was completely out of tune.
Got a ways to go. Maybe you get yourself a tuner. Online tuner. Online tuning is great too, LLB. Yeah, I had no idea. Matt came over and was like, you didn't tune this up yet? I was like, I don't know. Matt's probably one of those guys getting tuned by ear. Oh, he can, yeah. Yeah, I hate guys like that. Me too. Because I cannot tune by ear. Nor can I. You can't? Seriously? Uh-uh. You strike me as one of those guys like, oh yeah, here you go. I can tune. If it's out of tune, I can tune it to where it's playable, but I can't tune it perfectly by ear. He starts with like the... A middle A or something like that. GarageBand has a tuner, doesn't it? I don't know. I just picked it up and was excited to play it. He was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down. So how many chords do you know now? Technically, I know seven, but I have to look at, I got to refresh when I look at a little chord chart and be like, oh, yeah, yeah. Okay, I know that. I think that's going to be a requirement. I think everybody on the Mikey show has to play guitar. Why are you looking at me? Dang it. Because you're next. I can play a song. You can? Yeah. You can really play a song? Give it to me. Really? Give it to her. I'm impressed. Really? This is good. This is not what you're thinking, but watch this. I was impressed. I was in here one day after the show. Let's see if I can remember it. Mikey was in here like plucking out more than words by Xtreme. Yeah. I was very impressed. Okay. Now keep in mind, Sienna is playing a Taylor guitar that probably cost several thousand dollars.
Wait, Woods is showing her how to use the pick. All right, you guys. Great, great. I'm already in a band, so don't ask me to join yours. Sure, yeah. Is that Smoke on the Water? Yeah! Wow, wow. Smoke in the Water. Yeah, there you go. That sounds awesome. You're welcome. That sounds just like the record. You know what? That's good, Tiana. Good for you. Thank you. Wow. I was taught that when I was maybe nine, and I still run that thing. Yeah, that's good. That's awesome. You could definitely go to open mic net at a local coffee shop and pull that off. Thank you. That would be fabulous. Thank you. Wow. Wow, Sienna, tell me about the dog. Let's see. So yesterday, Waverly and her boyfriend came over, and what you now have, like matching wiener dogs. Yeah, we had a dog party. We had a dog party at our house. I have a little mini Dachshund and he just got one too, my sister's boyfriend. And so they came over and played. Are they the same color? Yeah, they're both black and tans. Mine is long hair, his is short hair. And it was, there was just a bunch of wiener dogs running around. It was so cute. Have you seen my wiener? His name was, my dog's his zipper and his dog is Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg? Really? Why do you have to hate?
I'm just saying, you know. S-N-O-O-P-T-O-G. See, Zipper is an incredibly original name for a dog. Thank you. You know? Yes. Snoop Dogg? Not so much. It was already named, I guess, when he got it. But it's cute. It looks like Snoop Dogg. It looks just like Snoop Dogg? Really? It does, kind of. Snoop Dogg turns into one of those really, what, the Rottweiler? Rottweiler, yeah. Yeah, in one of his videos. Oh, it's true. I remember seeing that video, yeah. So what happened to the whole story, you know, because they talk about how... There are people who have dogs, and the dog looks like the person who has the dog. Yeah. That's not really the case here, no. You know, the thing is, I don't think you... Look like a dachshund? You look like a dachshund. No. Neither does Todd. No, I don't think so. I just, I think... If you are around a Dachshund, those dogs especially, I think people just love them. And once you have one, that's all you're going to have. And I think that's the same with Yorkies too. Absolutely. It looks just like a Yorkie. I do. I look just like Lucky.
You do actually a little bit. Your dogs actually have like the best hair color ever. Yeah, they're the sweetest things ever. Are they getting the stuff in their hair? They have like blondish strawberry color. It's so pretty. They're pretty dogs. Did you see what else I wrote in there when I was at the grocery store? Yes, I did see this. And, you know, this is interesting because so you're at the grocery store yesterday with Sage. Yeah. And one of the local customers walks up to you. She probably. 85 years old. And she walked right up and said, you breastfeed, don't you? Shut up. No way. I was like, easy, grandma. Easy, creepy woman, Jay. I was so creeped out. Is she looking at your chest or your baby? I had sage in the baby Bjorn, like those little backpacks that go in the front, but you can still see my boobs. The whole thing was weird and I couldn't figure it out. Interesting. Who just says that? I think she was concerned because, you know, the medical studies that have come out is kids are better off if they breastfeed. So she was hoping you were probably doing the right thing. Yes. She was afraid Sage would overeat. It's probably someone that Jay used to babysit. This is Jay's prompt. Yeah, exactly. Nice. Nice. So the situation.
from Jersey Shore, apparently bombo roasting Donald Trump. Why is he roasting Donald Trump? I don't know, but we'll have the audio next, and this should be pretty darn interesting. It's the Mikey Show on FM 94.9. Great pipes. Oh, yeah. And a good voice. Wow. Hey, now. Hey, now. Come on. You like the rest of yourself? Yeah, the whole thing. Phenomenal. Zadel. I call her Adel. Adel? Is it Adel? I call her Adel. It's Adele. It's Adele. So good. This track is great. I just got a text from my oldest son telling me to shut up. I didn't realize he knew how to use his mom's phone. That's awesome. What did he say? I need to know exactly what he said. Here, let me see it. I'll read it. I mean, all it says is shut up. Hey, Dad, shut up. How did you know it was for him?
Because, well, I saw a text from my wife. Your wife doesn't text you shut up? Yeah. Here it is. What? Hey, Dad, shut up, Gavin. Yeah. That's all it is. I love it. Maybe don't tell people he was crying in the movie. Don't bring it back up. Oh, yeah, you brought that up. Yeah, yeah. Tell them people he cried. Probably not too happy with you. Dad, shut up. Sorry, dude. Sorry, dude. All in the name of content for the program. That's right. It's the Mikey Show. Coming up, we're going to play some audio of the situation. Oh, boy. If you're like me and you've never watched the Jersey Shore, he's one of the guidos on Jersey Shore, I guess. Brace yourselves for that audio. And he was roasting Donald Trump. Oh, yeah. He was really roasting himself. He... I listened to it this morning and I almost fell out of my chair. I heard it again. It's amazing. Fell out of your chair in a good way or a bad way. In a way that's like. In a train wreck. It makes your skin crawl. It cringes. It makes your skin crawl. Oh, great. And he had. I'm going to tell you now. I'm going to give a little hint. Listen for his nervous laughter after every bomb joke. No more. No more. That's it. No more.
That's all I wanted to tell you. So feast. So you know what's going on with news? Well, the teachers union said yesterday, California school districts have issued at least 19,000 layoff notices to teachers and other school employees. Now, here's the breakdown that I have throughout California. The union's early estimate includes almost 500 school employees in San Francisco, 540 in Oakland, nearly. 900 in San Diego and about 5,000 in L.A. So just all because of the state budget. We'll be hearing more about that, but 19,000 educators getting pink slips in California. Also yesterday, PepsiCo unveiled a new bottle, which, LOB, you may like this. It's made entirely of plant materials. Perfect. The company says it looks, feels, and protects the drink inside, and it tastes exactly the same. It doesn't make the taste any different. It tastes like broccoli. The new bottle is made from, wait for it. Hemp. Corn. Hemp. Switchgrass.
pine bark, corn husks, and other materials. LB just calls it breakfast. Pepsi also plans to use orange peels, oat holes, potato scraps, and other leftovers from the bottles. They're not biodegradable, but they are recyclable. They're not biodegradable? No. Not biodegradable. They are recyclable and, obviously, environmentally friendly. Well, you know, maybe Tommy can have them be a guest on Tree Huggers International. There you go. Still not biodegradable, so they still have to be recycled. Woodsy, what you got in sports? Well, I don't know if you guys heard this, but the NFL Players Association is putting into place a plan that is going to contact the top prospects for the upcoming draft, telling them and advising them not to attend the draft. Which...
It's tough. It's very, very tough. That's a bad look. It's a bad look. Yeah, it doesn't look good for the NFL. Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, came out yesterday and said, quote, I think it's a shame for young men that are starting their careers in the NFL. They're having once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come across the stage, become an NFL player for the first time, to not be able to attend the draft. That bums me out. You think Cam Newton's not going to show up for the draft? Oh, 100%. And also, Michael Vick has landed. Another endorsement deal, LOB. He will now be pitching a performance wristband. He signed with Loot Licensing Group. They make one of those titanium-infused fake-bit silicone wristbands called The Core Synergy. So he'll be doing that and just wish that guy the best in his endeavors. Just keep it real, dude. Oh, yeah. And bracket stuff is going on, too, of course. And I guess the Aztecs are in Tucson already preparing for the big game tomorrow. Correct. Northern Colorado. And, of course, everybody in town here has got Aztec SDSU fever right now. I mean, people who have never even followed the Aztecs are now suddenly all on board. Yeah, I'm all the way in. It's very exciting. I watched them play the game against BYU that they lost. And still, though, man, they've got a good, good young team. And, you know, they have never won.
A tournament game. They are 0-6 in the tournament. They are 0-3 under Coach Fisher. Dude, this is the year to get it done. They've got the guns to get it done. Look, dude. They've got Steve Fisher. Yeah. And he's been there. He's won it. But he's never won with San Diego State. But he's been building to this. That's exactly right. I think he's the right coach for them. I think he's got great motivation skills. And you know what? How great, how sweet would it be for him? almost 20 years removed from the Fab Five days. Correct. To win with SDSU. It would be awesome. And everybody in this town is pulling for them hardcore. So tomorrow is their first game. It's going to be great. Can't wait. And if you're doing the bracket thing, of course, most of your office pools are probably due sometime today. Yeah, make that ride. Heads up, everybody. Of course, it's the Mikey Show. Mikey is out sick today. I'm Garrett sitting in. Garrett! Garrett! I'm the program director of the radio station, and yeah, and apparently I know a lot about Detroit, Philly, Seattle, Lancaster, La Crosse, Indianapolis, and other various garden spots in America. Garrett! Thanks for coming. Detroit! Garrett! To my left is Sienna. Sienna's our news host, and she is one of the, you know, I don't want to say news.
Girl. You can say that. Because you'd punch me. Ooh, it's a lady. Oh, boy. And you're freaking out a little bit today, aren't you? You're a little on edge. Yeah. Just a little. We are trying out a new babysitter. It'll be fine. Yeah. Everything's going to be fine. I know. I know. She's a sweet girl. What does she look like? Oh, boy. She's very cute. Wow. She's very cute. So Todd's all in. Moving along. Shut up. She's no Maddie. All right. All right. Can we replay that? What happened towards the end of the show? A lot of people may not have heard this. They probably didn't hear it. He probably doesn't want to reply. Woodsy's our sports guy. Jay creeped on a picture of his daughter. Yeah, he did. Listeners need to know. They need to know. Woodsy's our sports guy, and on top of it, being a sports guy, he is also a Little League coach. I am. Which I think is the coolest thing in the world, dude. Thank you, man.
Not a lot of guys step up for that kind of stuff. It's a labor of love, that's for sure. Especially because, you know, it's like a lot of guys end up, you know, I don't have time for this, but you really, I mean, for a guy who has to get up at, you know, 3 in the morning coaching Little League, dude, it's cool. It's a labor of love, that's for sure. My kids are the best. My team is a lot of fun. We're playing tonight, so I'm stoked. So you're teaching them cuss words, you're teaching them how to swear, throw bats. No, I teach them how to chew. No, I teach them how to throw a two-seamer, how to throw a four-seamer, how to throw a change-up. How to bunt, how to slash bunt. I'm so lucky that I know you. You should be. You should be. Send me pro. Semi-pro coach. They get a semi-pro coach. And an F-level radio celebrity. F-level. F-level. Wow, that's a bump. I give you C-level. That's a bump. I give you C-level, man. LOB, of course, is the assistant producer of the show. Of course. Also a local stand-up comic and becoming a hot guitar player. That's true. Hot stuff. One of our very own Eskimo Blue Waters.
is in the running to have a gig at the Belly Up right now, which will be in April, and she will be borrowing my Taylor if she gets said gig. Are you sure you want to be loaning your brand new Taylor guitar? Yeah, I talked to her dad, and we have an arrangement that if she does anything to it, he's going to buy me a nicer one. That's a good deal, yeah. Jay is the producer of the show. He's 107. Yep. But doesn't look a day over 75. Of course, you know, I should mention this. This is a grand opportunity to bring this up, that the next FM 94.9 Big Bear Trip Getaway Weekend presented by Scion happened March 25th through the 27th. It includes lift tickets for you and three friends, plus a room at the gorgeous Northwoods Resorts. And the reason I bring it up in tandem with Jay is because you get to hang with Jay and Woods. It's so much better than hanging with L.O.B. or myself. Obviously. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Listen, guys. Give us a recap of how it is. Eject, eject, eject. Since we couldn't go. Now, if you want to go, it will cost only $200, all of that, which is a heck of a deal. It's amazing. But you need to register to be able to purchase it because we had such huge demand last time around. And if you want to register, the registration closes this morning at 10 a.m. So go to FM949SD.com, and you can register for the Big Bear trip presented by Scion. And I need to mention our phone screener today.
Yeah! It's Crow! Crow! Little angel in there. He just throws up waves. Savvy. He doesn't have a microphone, but he's got a huge, giant grin when you guys do that. Because he's been drinking already. Y'all shut up. Blowing his head up. Alright, so today... I don't know, what time is it? I can't even say o'clock. All right, about 15 minutes or so, 7.30, 7.30-ish. We'll be doing Jay, the old man that does acting. And what's great about this bit is he does not need to wear safety glasses, apparently, for this one. And set it up a little bit why we do it. If you didn't know, Jay has a tendency of mispronouncing words. And by tendency, I mean every time he talks. I'm not the only one. Pretty much. Every time he talks. Really? Yeah. Woods and I, you know, sometimes slip up on words because we're trying to read. Are you telling me that you purposely chose a script that has difficult words to put? No. No. We chose a script that most people would know. You don't need to. Honestly. Most third graders. Yeah. Keep looking at Woods. It's not on there.
And you know what? It's funny, man. As I look outside, it's kind of like murky and foggy and stuff. And because I've been up for so long, I'm absolutely starved. You get food. You know what I want? It's not the same. It's not the same here as it is other places. But, man, I would love a cheesesteak right now. Like mushroom and provolone. Feast on one. You know that. Are you like a South Philly or a Jersey cheesesteak person? Jersey cheesesteak, yes. No mushrooms for me. Just some white American cheese, some hot peppers. Man, I tell you, nothing like it. Absolutely delicious. And I've got to mention that this audio from the situation bombing at the Donald Trump roast, stupid. I mean, this guy is... I can't wait to hear it. He's such a clown. I'm absolutely amazed that this guy still, his 15 minutes hasn't run out yet. Garrett, you know he's going to make... Let's get to the real situation. He's going to make over $10 million this year. My man, Donald Trump. Listen to this.
Unbelievable. Yeah, baby. I mean, look at him. He's pimping. Not a lot of guys can pull off wearing a hat like that. People are hating on him because Chump is always firing people, but it's kind of okay because he completely let himself go anyway. What? Huh? Nervous laughter. Oh, yeah. You know what, Donald? You got the tan, you got the laundry down, but you got to hit the gym, poor chap. Wow. Hold on. It gets better. I like how you roll. I've seen pictures of your house. Everything in your house is gold. Who the f*** decorated your house? Flavor Flav's dentist? Not bad. Not bad. I'll say this, though. Your wife is hot. The best part is she married you for love. Yup. She loves money. This is... Oh, boy. Oh, I'm so nervous. Oh, gosh. I'm cringing.
Let him do his thing. Come on. Oh, boy. Let him do it. Look. Read it, read it, read it, read it. All right. Donald Trump, you're a baller. You're a shot caller. You run the game and give the buildings your name. You're the real deal. And I hope someday I can roll Trump style. You called him Chump, not Trump. It's Trump. You said Donald Trump. Really? Well, maybe comedy ain't my game right now, but... It's all right. Can I just show them something? Can I just show them something? You know the situation? Showing his abs. That's all that guy's got. That definitely is the situation right there. I hate him. They call me the saturation. You know what? Actually, the catastrophe. But thanks for letting me here tonight. Thank you, buddy. Thank you. Don't ever come back. Wow. And before I go real quick, I'll tell you one more thing. Shut up. One more thing. What's he going to say? Mr. Trump, I think you should run for president.
I probably really mean that's a stupid idea. What? You probably really mean? Dude. Wow. Come on. Wow. Stick to your day job. Oh, wait. Oh, wait. You don't have. You just exist. You just won't go away. Man, I just finally got around to reading that piece in Rolling Stone with the latest issue with Snooki on the cover. Now, I've never, ever watched an episode of Jersey Shore. But the whole thing just feels like a train wreck to me. It is. That's why people watch. I get it. I get that part of it. But it's like these people who clearly have really no talent at all are making big money off this thing. Tens of millions of dollars. Oh, yeah. I can't take it. All right. M1 Super Mario. You there, dude? What was the word of the day? He's on it, man. Woo! Congratulations. Congratulations. You got a four-pack of tickets to the NASCAR Nationwide Series. It's the Royal Purple 300, the Auto Club Speedway, which is Saturday, March 26th. And tickets for the San Diego Derby Dolls versus the Rocky Mountain Fight Club, also March 26th at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Congratulations, dude. Thanks for listening. And I'm going to put you on hold so we can get all the information for you, dude. Thanks. All right. So...
Wow, that situation thing. That is some frightening stuff. Frightening stuff. So let's go back. I was also looking at the recap here from yesterday that Woodsy sent over. What's the deal now? You're at the Home Depot with Maddie buying supplies to fix your garage. Not Maddie. Jay's daughter. Not your daughter. Look at Jay's face. Look at the what. Do we get to have a talk? I don't know. That's the first thing I thought of. Wait, hold on, dude. Why are you hanging with Matty getting supplies to fix your garage? My friend, Matt Lockhart, that I call Matty. Big Matt. Big Matt. It was his birthday yesterday, and I put him to work, so it kind of felt like a D. That was really nice. Yeah, it was really good. I paid him. I paid him. You really? Did you? Yeah, he had to do some... My dog kind of freaked out. One of my dogs freaked out in our garage and kind of tore some stuff up, so I needed to get it fixed. And I am not a handy person whatsoever. And so I called Matty, and he had... the day free to come over and help and i kind of felt like a d though because i we went to home depot by ourselves and like got all the supplies and stuff and i helped like i helped with a miter saw like level off one piece of the molding and i felt kind of manly but then i walked around home depot i was like i don't know what any of this stuff is so then we get home and i i just
I left him in the garage to do the work. He paid him. What did you do? Bring him a beer? No. Well, actually, it was his birthday. My wife bought him a case of beer. And then I paid him to do the work in the garage. And I paid for the supplies. But I kind of felt like a jerk because I was like. All right, man. Well, we'll see you. And he was like in my garage working. Was I supposed to stand out there with him and be like, yeah, look, because I don't help. I'm not like I don't know what he's doing. You would have been in the way. Would I have been in the way? Okay. Not necessarily true now. I mean, you know, the learn. I don't want to learn. But that's the thing. I don't want to learn. That's why I pay. If I wanted to learn, I'd have you over there for free. And it's not like he was getting paid hourly. He'd probably rather get it done as quickly as possible. Yeah, and having me out there. Okay, is this bad that I went inside and worked for a little bit and then I took a nap? Wow. Is that monstrous? Is that monstrous? A little bit. He at least just checked in. Oh, I checked in once. When he left, he was like, where's Woods? And my wife was like, he's taking a nap. So I didn't even see him leave. How long was he there? He was there a couple hours. He's back there right now.
Finishing. Happy birthday. It was his birthday. I know. Happy birthday to you. I'd bring him some donuts or a cake. I gave him dough, a gift card for his birthday, and a case of beer. Oh, you're good. You're fine. And the nap is okay? Yeah, it's okay. I was really tired. And the bro payment. The bro payment. I mean, the fact that you threw in the case of beer. Yes. His wife did that. My wife did. Case in Newcastle. That's no joke. That's a good job. That is nice. All right, so I don't feel like a total D. No, just a little one. I don't know. Just a little one. I'm a little phased by the fact that you are not helping out. I would be in the way. Would you want me to come to your office and help you program this weekend's log? I don't think so. I'd be in your way. You want to get it done. I want to get it done. That's a one-man job. I think the job in your garage is probably a two-man job. Is this Maddie's fiance? Yes, it's HB. Hi, guys. Hi. When HB? It doesn't matter. He gets stuff done all the time by himself. But am I a jerk for not hanging out with him? No, he doesn't care. Didn't he? He said something, didn't he? No, he didn't.
He was laughing. He was more happy to see the dogs. Let's know what the pecking order is. He works better on his own anyway. He doesn't care. He did a great job. I think he's over there finishing it up this morning. Yeah, he dropped me off at work. He's on his way over. Wow. Which I paid him extra for. I paid him extra for the extra supplies. You paid him and you gave him beer. He would have worked for beer. Oh, good. Well, now I know. We're just following that away. So don't worry about it. You're fine. Okay, good. I love him. He's such a good guy. He is a good guy. Yeah, M1HB, you should see this sense of relief across Woodsy's face. Seriously. He doesn't feel totally emasculated at this point. No, no, no. Well, he and I walking around Home Depot was interesting. And I'm like, I literally, I went to look for a hammer because I don't have a hammer at my home. I don't own a hammer. You don't own a hammer? I don't own a hammer. I do buy. Like the bottom of like a paperweight. Or like a shoe. You know that like even my grandma has a hammer. Oh, Sienna. Yes. Helen Keller had a hammer, okay? Nuns have hammers. Nuns have hammers. I did not. I had to buy one yesterday. There was a $17 one and a $4 one. Guess which one I bought. The $4 one. A hundred. Matt doesn't have a hammer. What? Your boyfriend Matt doesn't have one? No. Wow, you know, he's immediately now under suspicion. Yeah.
I, when we lived together, did most of the handiwork. When you were shaming the family? Yes. Shaming the family and the rest of my show, yes. Not the rest of your show. The hosts. The host of your show. And my entire Catholic family. You're just mean because they lived together and weren't married. You're just living sin a little bit. Oh, yeah. Feels real good. She still is. Trust me. All right. Thank you, M1HB. Appreciate you checking in. You're welcome. Have a great day. All right. Well, I got to tell you, Woodsy, I feel a little better for you, but still I'm a little bit ashamed for you, too. Well. You got to help out. You've got to pretend to help. No, I don't. You could hold something. You need me to hold this up for you? I had work to do for our program. Really? That comes first. Like that nap? Yeah. I'm curious exactly what work for the program were you doing? Well, I had to rest up because I had a little league practice. See? I'm molding and shaping young minds. Okay? That's what I'm doing. Now the truth is coming out. I had to rest up.
All right. Okay. Hey, it's the Mikey show and coming up in a few moments. Jay's acting challenge. The script he'll be reading while trying to read. How do you feel, Jay? A scene scared from Titanic. It's next on the Mikey show. Welcome back to the Mikey show. Woodsy is going to be hanging out tomorrow. He has an actual appearance, a rare public appearance from Steve. On St. Patrick's Day. Tomorrow, Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fun Bike Center in Kearney Mesa. That's located at 5755 Kearney Villa Road in Kearney Mesa. You can win tickets to see Nuclear Cowboys, which is not a band. It's a bunch of guys flying around on motorcycles and stuff. Also, tickets to see TV on the radio at 4th and B. That is it. Good band, dude. Amazing, amazing band live. Better live than even on record. And plus gear from Metal Militia. You'll also be able to meet some of the riders from the Nuclear Cowboys. For more info, go to FM949SD.com. That's Woodsy tomorrow, 6 to 7, Fun Bike Center in Kearney Mesa. And if he's not wearing green, you can pinch him. That's true, and I will be wearing green. You know that. You better be. I will be. This is Brittany. Yeah.
Do you even need to ask? Kind of in on it. Yes. Yes, actually, you do need to ask me. So good. Would you hold it against Brittany? Oh, wow. I would be dancing on me. That's frightening. I'm a little uncomfortable right now. He does that to me every show. So you're getting back at him? Uh-huh. See, the difference is he enjoys it. You probably don't. Yeah. All right. So we've been teasing this all morning. It is time now for Jay's Acting Challenge. With a twist. There's a twist. We have a twist. Jay doesn't know about it. Jay, where is it? What? It's down a page. Which page? I'm coming in. Hang on. Hold on. Is it the other way? Hold on. Which page? I got it. I got it. I got it. I got it. Jay's reading. Ready? Jay's the old man who does acting. He's the old man with the poetry. He's so good he's on the money. An actor with ability. He blinded me with acting. But he failed to pronounce clearly. Yes. Yes. Now. Dude, I need it. I want to do karaoke with you.
Wow. Now we have something to tell you, Jay. Yeah, Jay, we made an executive decision in here without you. Okay. I wasn't a part of that, so. So we have a script in front of us. That Jay picked out. That Jay picked out. And it's from the movie Titanic because it's a well-known movie. People can follow along. And we are going through and Jay is playing the part of Jack. However, Jack has barely any words. Let me read you one line from Jack. Let's hear. Shh, come here. How do you mess that up? Easily. So we've decided to switch roles. Jay, you are now the narrator. That's right. Jay, you are now the narrator. You're the narrator. The narrator has so many more lines. And this is a bit for you because... You know, it's all about Jack. I love the way they were positioned. By the way, for the record, I never cried during this movie, but I may cry during this movie. I did. I'm crying now. So I will be playing the role of Jack. Yep. Lauren will be playing the role of Rose. And Sienna will be playing the role of old Rose. If we get there. If we get there. When I think of Leonardo DiCaprio, I think of you. Yeah. Fatter. Yeah. Taller. Much less talented.
One who blows cigs. Yes, does blast cigs. I do not really care about the environment, though. Unlike Leonardo. Now, again, if you haven't heard this, the reason we're having Jay read the script is because he has a tendency of mispronouncing every other word. I would have liked to have read this before. Well, I know, but this is more real then. Call the curveball. So here's the Titanic. Jay the narrator, Woods is Jack, Lauren's Rose. Titanic steams towards us in the dusk light, as if lit by embers of a giant fire. As the ship looms, filling frame, we push in on the bow. Jack is there, right at the apex of the bow, railing. His favorite spot. He closes his eyes, letting the chilled wind clear his head. Or the chilled wind. Jack hears voices behind him. Or her voice behind him. Whatever. Hello, Jack. I changed my mind. Fabrizio said you might be up. Shh. Come here. He puts his hands on her waist as if going to kiss her. Close your eyes. She does, and as he turns to face forward, the way the ship is going, he presses her gently to the rail, standing right behind her. Then he takes his two hands and raises them until she is standing with her arms outstretched on each side. Rose is going along with them. When he lowers his hands, her arms stay up. Okay, open them.
There's nothing in her field of vision but water. It's like there's no ship under them at all. Just the two of them soaring. The Atlantic unrolls towards her. A hammered copper shield under a dust sky. There's only the wind and the hiss of the water 50 feet below. I'm flying! She leans forward, arching her back. He puts his hands on her waist to steady her. I'm completely creeped out right now. Come, Josephine, in my flying machine. Rose closes her eyes, feeling herself floating. Weight lifts far above the sea. She leans back gently, pressing her back against his chest. He pushes forward slightly against her. Slowly, he raises his hands, arms outstretched as they meet hers.
fingertips gently touching. Then their fingertips entwine. Or their fingers. Fingers intertwine. Moving slowly, their fingers caress through and around each other like the bodies of two lovers. Transition into Rose's suite. Like in a dream, the beautiful woodwork sat in a postry. A postry? Emerged from the rusted ruin. Jack is overwhelmed by the... Wow. Say it. Opulence. Nice. He sets his sketchbook and drawing materials on the marble table. Will this light do? Don't artists need good light? That is true. I am not used to working in such horrible conditions. Seize the painting. Hey, Monet. He crouches next to the painting stacked against the wall. Isn't he great? This use of color? I saw him what? I saw him once through a hole in the garden fence in Giverny. Why are you doing my voice, by the way? Am I? Yeah, you're like shifting to my voice. All right, I'll be Jack as Garrett. She goes into the joining walk-in wardrobe closet. He sees her go in the safe and start working the combination. He's facet. Cal insists on lugging this thing everywhere. Should I be expecting him anytime soon? Not as long as the cigars and brandy hold out. Clunk. She unlocks the safe. Glancing up, she meets his eyes in the mirror behind the safe.
She opens it and removes the necklace and then holds it out and Jack takes it nervously. What is it? A sapphire? A diamond. A very rare diamond called the heart of the ocean. I want you to draw me like your French girl. Wearing this. Wearing only this. She shakes her hair. Her head. She shakes her head and her hair falls free around her shoulders. In the city room, Jack is laying out his pencils like surgical tools. His sketchbook is open and ready. He looks up as she comes into the room, wearing a silk kimono. The last thing I need is another picture of me looking like a China doll. As a paying customer, I expect to get what I want. She hands him a dime and steps back, parting the kimono. The blue stone lies on her creamy breast. Oh, my God. Her heart is pounding as she slowly lowers the robe. Jack looks stricken. It's almost comical. The kimono drops to the floor. Tell me when it looks right to you. She poses in a divan. Isolate. Is it divine? It's divan. I said it right. Selling like a cat into the position. We remember from the drawing almost. Just bend your left leg a little and lower your head. Eyes to me. That's it.
He starts to sketch. He drops his pencil and she stifles a laugh. I believe you are blushing, Mr. Big Artiste. I can't imagine Monsieur Monet blushing. He does landscapes. Tight on Jack as his eyes come up to look at her over the edge of his sketch pad. We have seen this image of him before in her memory. It is the image she will carry the rest of her life. Despite his nervousness, he draws with sheer strokes. What? Isolate. When it emerges, it's the best thing he's ever done. Her pose is legwine. Isolate. Isolate. Her hand's beautiful and her eyes are languid. Try that one again. Her pose? Her pose languid. It is languid. Her pose is languid. Her pose is languid. Her hand's beautiful and her eyes radiant. Radiant energy. Transition. Dissolve. To Rose, 101-year-old. Dissolve. Dissolve. Only her eyes are the same. Now I'm old, Rose. My heart was pounding the whole time. It was the most erotic moment of my life. Up till then, at least. Get some, Rose. Wow. Not bad, Jay. Not bad. Wow. Dude, I could do that. I could listen to him read for hours. Really? Hours. I don't know. Dissolve.
Dissolve. I was disappointed by how many words he got right. Thank you. He flubbed a good solid 15 words. He probably read through the script 25 times a second. From now on, he doesn't give it at all. He did say some things with conviction of words that weren't actually on the script. If you're following along, you can see that he's making stuff. Well, it was awesome. I like how occasionally he would switch into movie guy voice mode. Yeah, when they said creamy breast. That's how he did it. It was almost like he was Don LaFontaine or something. Silk kimono. Creamy breast. So I'm confused because the script he's reading, so there wasn't really a narrator during the film, right? No. He's just getting like, take a picture. But his lines, if you notice the lines I read, they were literally, shh, come here, close your eyes, okay, open it. No, I get it. It's almost like he was doing one of those pitch things. Could you imagine Jay going to a movie studio and like, all right, you ready, ready, ready? Okay, here it is, and I'm pitching the line, and I'm pitching the scene to you. I mean, there's no way he could sell it.
Oh, I'd sell it, 100%. Really? All right, y'all. Hi, thanks for having me. My name's Jay Isbell, and this one is a movie about a boat called Titanic. Oh, really? Yep. What happens? Well, it dissolves. It what? It dissolves. It hits an iceberg. Did you mean dissolves? And it dissolves. Oh. I would stick to Westerns, I think. 100%. So Western. Yeah, I hear that. Oh, my gosh. Wow. Are we going to play buzzword? Yes. Do you want to play buzzword? Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay. Easy, Jay Jay will give us the buzzword, and then he's going to give us clues, and our answer must include that buzzword. And we have tickets to the run of engagement to The Lincoln Lawyer, starring Matthew McConaughey. Isn't he like your neighbor from Texas? He actually lived in the house my sister lives in. Really? In Uvalde. See? I just wild guess. You can just make things up, Judge. Don't have to. I'm going to absolutely be awful at this.
Nah. I will not be good at this. You can't be any worse than me. Don't worry. Should I do mine in Garrett voice? Yes. No, because that was your job too. This is not fair because then I can't really do you. Yeah, fair enough. So you have to scream it out. Scream out your answers. Today's buzzword is head. H-E-A-D. Really? I'm just saying it like I see it. Okay. Okay, here we go. Do we have people? Yeah, we probably need to pick our players here, right? So, all right. M1 Lisa? From Lakeside, are you there? Yes. All right, who are you picking? I want Woods. All right. She wants Woods. I'm going to put you on hold. Hang on. This is M11 in South Bay. Who are you taking? Lauren. Yeah. L-O-B. What's up? All right, hang on the line, dude. If Garrett gets picked before me, I'm never coming back. I'm not going to get picked before you. Yeah, you will. No, I don't think it's going to happen. All right, here we go. And let's see. M11.
M1 Dogbait from San Diego. Who are you taking, dude? I got Woodsy. No, you know. Woods is already taken. Sorry, dude. Garrett or Sienna? I got Sienna. Yes! Thank you! All right, we'll put you on hold. Hang on. So, who's left? Okay, just for fun. M1 William from San Diego. Who are you taking, William? I'll take Garrett. Garrett! Thanks, dude. Hang on. All right. My favorite part of that was Sienna went to high five woods and she missed. Well, I got the wrist. I did not catch that. All right. Once again, we've got head as our buzzword. Oh, my God. Stop. Sicko. Here we go. Mikey just fell out of his bed. I know. Injured. Here we go. Here we go. Just above your front bumper. Headlight! Oh, Garrett. You got to yell it, dude. Yes, come on, Garrett. Headlight. Garrett's in the lead with one. Headlight. Headlight. Headlight. Headlight. Scream it, Garrett. You got to yell it. Wow. I'm going to blow up the mic. Here we go. Well, you can stand back a little bit from it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hook him to a Walkman. That was a tie. I'm giving you both a point. Who's the both? Sienna and Wood. What? Sienna and Wood?
Yeah. Oh, wow. You do need your ears checked. You do need your ears. Oh, wow. Okay, here we go. Wow. Two can solve a problem faster. Two has the middle one! Giving that to Lauren. Oh, come on. We're all tied with one. Wow. Obnoxious. Yeah, they are. The one in charge at home. Yes! Head of the house. Whatever. Head of the household. Same thing. I'm in the lead. I'm in the lead. Here we go. Leave early. Head out. Head home. Head for the hills. Head down. Head out early. Leave early. Get ahead. Leave ahead. Ahead of schedule. Leave ahead of time. Ahead of schedule. Leave ahead. I'm going to give Woods. Get a head start. You're going to give that to him? He is obnoxious. Here we go. You're going to give that to him? What did I say? He didn't say it. He said everything with the word head in it. No, he said get a head. Oh, my gosh. Whatever. Okay. Here we go. Flip a coin. Call it in the air. Head to tails. Dang. Head to tails. Cool. Garrett. Garrett. Come on. Yes. This is ridiculous. Okay. Garrett Woods, Sienna 2, Lauren 1. Let's just throw a chair. Weird. You're such a good sport. Jay, get your head in the game. Seriously, dude. Yeah, man. Come on. Clearance above your noggin. Headache. What? What?
Say it again, Jay. Say it again, Jay. Clearance. Forehead. Above your noggin. Overhead. Headspace. Head over heels. What the heck? Clearance. Clearance or Clarence? Clearance above your noggin. Clearhead. Clear your head. Free your head. All right. Y'all can. Headroom. I said headroom. I didn't hear it because did you? You guys can't. Roll the tape back. Roll the tape back. You can't tell me to reread it and then start yelling answers. Here we go. Okay. Wait, does Garrett get her? No one gets a point for that. I told you I ought to get. And there's no arguing. You can argue at home. Okay, okay, okay. Feast. Lucy's mean nickname for Charlie Brown. Headache! Headache! Big head! Fat head. Fat head! Punk head. Dog head. Jug head! Round head. Pecker head. Headache! Three, two, one. Y'all get it. Blockhead. Oh, Blockhead. What? What? You can't just yell everything out. Especially things that are inappropriate. Grateful Dead fan. Deadhead. Weird. We weren't ready, Jay. Well, get ready because this is the game we're playing. We're changing it. We're all tied two to two. Lauren has an unfair advantage. The word is black.
Oh, black? What? Blackhead. Oh, the word is black. B-L-A-C-K. No, no, no. So now it's not head anymore. The buzzword is black. We've got a few more to come from here. Here we go. What's the score? Everyone has two. Everyone has two. Oh, exciting. Oh, boy. Dark-plumed feathered friend. Blackbird! Oh, she got it. Blackbird. Oh, yeah, yeah. Sorry. You can't just start yelling out the ones in your head. I wanted them. You are spaz. Not a grizzly, but close. All four-way tie. That was damn close. That's not me. Give me the scores. Garrett, Lauren, and Woods have three. Sienna has four. These are five-pointers. We've got two more questions, and they're both a point each. 14th century plague. Black plague! That's not the answer I'm looking for.
Black Death. Oh, Garrett. That was good. Darn it. Garrett and I are tied. See? See? Okay. Garrett just crumpled the whole thing of paper. Here we go. It's bad. When you're playing, you lose your body. It takes over. Here we go. Okay. Poisonous Spider. Black Widow! Black Widow! Yes! Black Widow! That's me! He said it first. No, he didn't! It was Garrett. I stumbled it out. Don't throw pens. There we go. Garrett steps in and wins. Wow. Nice job. Nice job, William. M1 William knocking out the park, Luke. I came in second. M1 William, congrats, dude. We'll put you on hold, dude. Hey, thanks. I'm glad you got me last, buddy. My palms are sweating. Mom's spaghetti. That was a blast. Now I want to do it again. We're doing it next time. Oh my gosh. It's 10. You know what it is? Something comes over you like a barracuda. You know what? I get no pleasure from beating Sienna and LLB.
But Woodsy, dude, I just want to compete with you. That's how every person on the show feels. It's awesome. Look how he's pouting. I'm not pouting. It's awesome to come to work and know that your whole show hates you. No, they don't. They love you. We love you so much. We just don't like when you throw things. I love to compete with you, dude. I like to compete, my friend. You're just a madman. I get so, so into it. When Jay doesn't pay attention. Oh, wow. That's a bothersome. Yeah, it's my fault. Lauren's just as competitive. Y'all try to solve this one. I will solve you. That doesn't make any sense. You're a problem. In my head it does. In my head it does. That's why I said it. So coming up, we're going to be listening to the worst YouTube song ever. Literally. Ever. It's coming up on the Mikey Show here on FM 94.9. Hey, these guys hate each other. Not fans of each other, apparently. Not us. The Strokes you're talking about. The Strokes, yeah. I'm talking about the Strokes. Well, LLB is going to hate me, but the Strokes don't like each other. It's the Mikey Show. It's the Mikey Show. With Garrett. Garrett. Go ahead. Somebody else want to do it too? Garrett. Troy. Seattle. Garrett. Scott Shannon. Garrett. MC. Gavin. Ann. Ann. Garrett. Are you about done?
Can we call Ann? Good luck. She's at work. I want to pretend to be you. You'll never pull it off. Won't I? Hey, hon. It's me. I'm at work. Dude. I'm on the air right now, babe. She will snap you in two. She will. Can we try? Let's see what she does. No, you won't get her. She's at work. She's working. Ann. Is she? Works. today. Sorry. It's the Mikey Show. Yeah, I'm Garrett. I'm sitting in. Sienna, what's going on with news? Well, Gilbert Godfrey has apologized for his offensive tweets, if you haven't heard. Too late. He made some jokes about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Well, he's issued a formal apology. He said, I'm sorry. What do you want? Here, you can read the second highlight. I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended. by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan.
I make no disrespect to my thoughts with the victims and their families. That was great. See, the best part about it is the facial expressions that go with it. Wow. Also, if you haven't heard... That was incredible. That was amazing. Fantastic. If you haven't heard, Charlie Sheen is going on tour. Now, he announced his first two shows to be in Chicago and in Detroit. That's right. Yeah, Detroit. Those two shows... sold out in minutes, and now he's added five more shows to his Torpedo of Truth tour. That's right. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. Jealous. Jealous. He's also going to be going to Cleveland, Columbus, New York, Wallingford, Connecticut, and Boston. Oh, all the hot spots. Winning anyone? He says that... This is where you will hear the real story from the warlock. Bring it. I dare you to keep up with me. Bring it. Also, yesterday, Nestle Prepared Foods Company announced a voluntary recall of their frozen spaghetti and meatballs dinner. It's the Lean Cuisine Simple Favorite Spaghetti with Meatballs. Never mind. I just call it lean.
Yeah, again, it's the simple favorites. Simple favorite spaghetti with meatballs, frozen dinner from Lean Cuisine, and it's by Nestle Prepared Foods. There was contaminated pieces of red plastic found in the food. Yes. No injuries were reported, but they are recalling all of that line. Hello? Nearly. Has ever just... Let me get out of here. What's going on in sports? If you didn't hear earlier, they did have two play-in games last night. UNC Asheville beat Arkansas Little Rock 81-77, and Clemson demolished UAB 70-52. Today is Texas San Antonio against Alabama State and USC against Virginia Commonwealth. The Aztecs will begin their run for... Get it. The ring. The big, the one shining moment. That will start tomorrow at approximately 1.40 p.m. They're playing in Tucson. And No. 2 Aztecs against No. 15 Northern Colorado should be a rad game. If a San Diego team actually won something, we'd lose our minds. I keep reading. This is what I keep reading online. This is what I keep reading online. Hey, San Diego.
You ever get in a big game, then just choke? I'm so... I don't want it to happen. I don't want it to happen. Here's the thing. The thing is, we actually have a coach who's won it all. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So, you know, I think that makes a difference. I think they got a shot. Let's hope. I think they got a shot. Coach doesn't play, though. That's the thing. Coach doesn't... Coach coaches, though. Coach coaches. But, you know, basketball is one of those games where... Hey, man, it's really about the individual who's got the ball in his hands with the last seconds. What a season they've had. They've had an absolutely dynamite season. It would be nice for them to win. Let's go baby steps, guys. They're going to do awesome. Let's beat Northern Colorado first. Let's get that one out of the way. Who they lost to four years ago here. Exactly. You get that first game out of the way, and you're a No. 2. You need to go in there and act like it. They've got to put them away. They've got to put them away. Cannot let them hang around. That's it. It's the Mikey Show. I'm Garrett sitting in for Mikey. He's feeling out of the weather. He's our news girl. Woodsy sports guy over here. L.O.B. doing the Gilbert Gottfried impression. There you go. Very nice. You're welcome. And Jay is over there. Yep. Isolated in a room where he can't hurt anybody. That's where they keep me. Hey, Chris. It's Chris. Where is he, by the way? He's getting food. Oh, he's doing your bidding? Not mine. Did you want any food, Gary? No. Okay. No.
Sorry. No. Really? I just realized this. He was in there taking orders. He took orders. You need to speak up. Wow. Just kick me to the curb. I'm sorry. As many times as possible. The worst YouTube song ever. Really? Okay. This is a big deal. This is a young girl. Her name is Rebecca Black, and her song is called Friday. Now, this was... Talked about on the show Tosh.0, and it was posted over the weekend. It has now over 9 million hits. Now, we have a clip. We have the song, and we're going to listen to it. And Garrett, you're going to love it. I'm going to love it? Rebecca Black. It's called Friday. You're going to absolutely despise it. You might quit. You may add it. Just listen to this. Brace yourself. Everything through your nose. Oh, don't stop it. This video has gone viral everywhere. I'm compelled to stop it, but I can't. Nine million hits, over nine million so far on this video. Just came out. You know what's tragic about this? What? To me, this sounds like about 90% of the crap I hear on 93.3. That's true. Oh, wow.
Just saying. Throw that out there. It's actually worse. Or any other top. Okay, I'm sorry. Sorry to bag on a radio station in San Diego, but any other top 40 radio station in America. I know, right? Kiss in Los Angeles. This sounds like half of the pop music out there right now. This is definitely a step down. Yeah, it's a step down. She's like singing her life. I'm going downstairs. I'm thinking I'm hungry. Maybe I get some Cheerios. Hey, that's another song, Sienna. That's the Mare Naked Ladies. I know that. What this proves is anybody. can sing along some crappy lyrics to well-produced dance music. Nickelback. Hello. Thank you. Nickelback. Here she goes through the days of the week. We so excited. Are we? I have no problem with this song. Really? L-O-B. Wow. This button's good. Listen. I can't take it. Come on, guys. I can't take it. Bob your head. I should do a Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett. It's already been done. It's already been done. Gone. Guaranteed I'll be singing this song. She does. It's Wednesday, actually. That much I know. Where is Rebecca Black from? I don't know. She's a pretty girl, actually. I'll be the judge of that. Chad Wood's the picture.
I think 13. Oh, never mind. Definitely not the worst video on YouTube. It's a little old for me. Yeah. You know that. You do, apparently. All right. Yeah, I'm done. I'm done. I think you guys done? Please stop. Wow. My ears are bleeding. She's got that Michigan up-speak nasal thing. Yeah. Chicago. Yeah. Michigan. She is a product of Arc Music Factory, which is in L.A., and they're known for working with pre-teen girls. It's Wendy. Wendy. Oh, my gosh. That's pretty awful. That song. That was beautiful. So, Rebecca Black. Nine million. Nine million. How? In a weekend. You know what it is? It's the super cookie cutter music and rhythm track, man. That's what it is. I think people are just hating on it because it's fun to watch. Oh, it's everywhere right now. Did Jay just say hating on it, by the way? Yeah, he did.
No, I said hating on it. Hater's going to hate. Hey, y'all. Hater's going to hate. I'm just going to go ahead and answer the question you're all wanting to know. Yes, the ringtone is available on iTunes. Oh, great. Got it already. Chances I download that secretly and put it on Mikey's iPhone are 100%. Let's put it on the array for every Friday. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Where's little Cubby? Why didn't he call in? You know what? He's sick. He's sick. Poor guy's sick. He can call in. Why are you beating on him? Call in and say hi. Why are you beating on him? Just want to visit. This morning you said how many times do you think he's going to call in, and you shamed him. I did, didn't I? Mikey, I'm sorry. Now he's like, do I call or do I not? If I call, Woods will think I'm a D. I don't think you're a D. I was just wondering. You know what? You're a disturber. I know. You are a disturber. I know. You live to disturb. He's a pot stirrer. I love to stir the pot. He is. Perpetual pot stirrer. Perpetual. You're not, though. Bradley Cooper. Is Bradley Cooper the dude, the cool dude from The Hangover? He is.
And he's also the guy who played the D-bag in Wedding Crashers. He was one of the greatest D-bags of all time in that movie. I know. I can't believe that was the same guy. Isn't that crazy? It was him? Yeah. Was he on Leno or Letterman the other night? I think it was on Leno, right? I have to look. He was on Letterman. Letterman. So this is him talking about Owen Wilson. Have you worked with De Niro before this film anywhere? No. Is he the kind of guy when you work with you, you kind of start talking a little like him? Oh, God. Well, I have that problem anyway. Really? I got like four movies just pretending I was Vince Vaughn. I should send him the checks. And then... Yeah, I mean, but I've worked with some, I mean, Owen Wilson. It's like, you can't, you know, Dave, I loved Hall Pass. Great movie. Jason's today, what a funny character. Was that a good Owen Wilson? That was really good, I think. Really? What a funny character. I didn't think so either. You can't just make your boys go up and call them an imitation. It was more Jack Nicholson. He can do whatever he wants, and it's right on.
It was good. I don't know. You had a crush on him? No. Yes. Yeah. I don't think there's any girl that does it. Really? Have you seen The Hangover? I've seen The Hangover. He's so sharp with his hair slicked back and all black clothes. Sharp. Whew. Sharp dude. It's just like, sharp. Hey, sharp. Hey, I can tip my cap. Yeah. I mean, he landed Renee Zellweger. What? Gotta be. He's gotta be. Sharp but blind, apparently. Yes. Hey, now. Be nice. I know it's hard. So apparently we got a text here. And this text is interesting. This is floss guy. I feel like we have a substitute teacher. You're like trying to pull the reins. Come on, guys. We're like, yeah. There's a sign on your back that says, kick me, actually, if you turn around. You know there is. Hang on. How did this get here? It says Garrett. That's it. Done. Substitute? Yes, totally. Paper airplane. You know, just call me the sub. That's it. I'm the sub. I am going to build a paper airplane. Thanks a lot. Of course he is. Thanks. We love you, Garrett. So this text from Flosguy. Okay. It says, heard you guys saying the toothpick at the table.
White trash. White trash. Is that what that WT is, white trash? What is this text? Jay, did you print this? Yeah, somebody just texted me. All right, so heard you guys saying the toothpick at the table was white trash. What about floss? My husband will actually floss. I tell him it's disgusting. He tells me it's the opposite of disgusting. Help me out. M1 little. Floss is at the table? Nobody does that. That is pretty gross. I would. You would? Hold on, where's my bag? Do you have floss? Uh-huh. Where's my bag? You wouldn't do it at the table, though, right? Yeah, I would do it at dinner. Why? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Couldn't you excuse yourself? I carry these things with me. They're like those little toothpicks. Okay, well, okay. Speed floss. I will, at the table, they're the, what are they called, Sienna? Do you know what they're like? It's like an easy floss. It's like an easy floss. It's a floss pick. I'll sit at the table. It's the plastic thing that looks like a wrench with a little floss in it. Okay. Dude, seriously? Yeah. Him and Mikey will floss with Sienna's hair. It's true. Yeah, but I think they're just doing that to gross you out. No. They say, can I have a piece of hair? If something gets caught. Really? Yeah, I've gotten meat out of my teeth with Sienna's hair. Weird. When you're on a pitch, it's just what you do. Dude, that sounds so awful. True statement. So it is disgusting. I got meat out of my teeth. When you floss, stuff...
Like, shoots out. Ew, yeah. At the dinner table, it's... Ew. Where are you guys eating? And when little... Yeah. Yes, it's good for your health to floss, but not... Yeah, but can't you excuse yourself? Can't you go to the restroom? You could. You could do that. You should. You're a considerate person. Wouldn't that be, like, common courtesy? Yes. Right? You would think. I don't know. I don't have a problem with it. I don't have a problem with it. That's disgusting. All right. We got M1 Shelly on the line here. Shelly, you there? I'm here. So what's the deal? Hey, Shelly. Hey, Garrett. It's Shelly. Hey, Shelly. So what? So your husband does this? He flosses everywhere. It doesn't matter if it's the table, the kitchen, sitting in the chair watching TV. What? He's got the floss out. His breath must be nice. He just takes care of his teeth real good? He carries his little floss. He carries his little floss pick in his pocket. Yeah, Woods has him in his backpack. You know, he prefers green. Yes. That's what he uses, is the green ones. Just stop buying them. What does he say when you tell him it's disgusting? I'm telling him it's like, that's spreading germs. I think it's cool that he cures about his hygiene. Is it spreading germs? Yeah. Do you kiss him on the mouth? It flicks everywhere. Really? It flicks everywhere. Do you kiss him on the mouth? Ew, stop it, what? Stop that, stop that. Ew, gingivitis.
So, Shelly, I mean, so you're okay with this because or you're not okay with this? I'm not okay with this. But you care that he cares about his hygiene. I'm sure his dentist loves him, but at the same time, it's pretty gross. But at the same time, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's gross. Well, great. Thanks for calling in. We appreciate it. Sure, Garrett. All right, bye. Garrett! Everybody that calls has to say Garrett, by the way. Thanks for calling, Shelly. Shelly. Shelly. I'm going to take you over there. I'm going to kick your butt. Shelly. What's with the laugh? I don't know. Every time I say it, I need to laugh. Do I really sound like a top 40 DJ from Des Moines? Do I really? Well, Seattle. FM949. Shelly, thanks for calling in. It's been a great day on the show. It's all about the music, everybody. I mean, you know, I can really talk like that if you want me to. Talk really fast and nail the post if you want. We can do a bit. Who's the post? The post? You haven't nailed the post? Nope. He's saying you're nailing. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. He hits the post. Hey, I'm working up here in Temecula. How you doing? All right. 720. Let's take a call.
You on drugs. Oh, man. Wow. All right. So coming up, we should talk about this Sammy Hagar thing. Absolutely. You've read it? I've read the excerpt from Rolling Stone, and it's unbelievable. This is insane. The headline on the cover of Rolling Stone, this is the Snooki issue, says, I think the line was, my days in the most... The botched band of all time. Yeah, something gnarly. But it's incredible stuff. So we have Sammy Hagar talking about this book that he's coming out and talking about his days in Van Halen. It's awesome. Unbelievable stuff. And that is coming up in minutes on The Mikey Show. Dude, you were born ten years too late. You know it. That's what I grew up on. Really? AM Gold, baby. Yeah. And Motown. See, this feels like, you know, my time. And my dad was really into Danish metal, too, so. Danish metal. I can see it that way. It went hot. Yeah. This song is amazing. Black metal. Yeah. What was Poco's other big hit? There's like a couple of, Mikey would know it. Yeah, 100. Maybe he calls in.
All right. It's the Mikey Show. You know, if you're looking for somebody to do art, see stuff like websites. Graphic design. Graphic design. Business cards. Business cards. Yeah. Our buddy Jared from createyourdesignonline.com. He's the guy who sort of created the Mikey Show website look. Oh, yeah. Be different website. Everything. He's the man. Blue Waters website. He's the man. You can find his stuff, of course, at createyourdesignonline.com. And Jared is the man. And talk about quick turnaround, too. This is a guy. You talk to him. He prides himself on his customer service, but also his quick turnaround. So can't recommend the guy enough. He's a pro. And he's a good dude. Good dude. So tonight's 8 o'clock album. Go ahead. What is it? Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Wilco AM. Wilco AM. And a terrific album, the debut album from Wilco. So if you're a Wilco fan. Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, Garrett. How many is that, 10? Garrett, why do you say your name? We get it. You like Wilco. Stop freaking out. Man. Relax. You're screaming, dude.
You love Wilco. We get it, okay? 8 o'clock albums tonight. And by the way, Tommy's hosting it now. Tommy! Tommy! Because he's way better than me. Fired him. Hired him. I've never fired him. I have, however, fired him. He quit. I hired him. Nope. Nope. You guys got it all wrong. I got transferred. Sammy Hagar is out promoting his book. And it is called Red My Life. I'm sorry, My Uncensored Life in Rock. Read My Uncensored Life in Rock. Is the book out? Yeah, it came out yesterday. I have a question. Sienna, who is Sammy Hagar? Okay, stop. LLB, who is Sammy Hagar? Motley Crue? Van Halen? Yes, yes, yes. Van Halen. The guy can't drive 55. Yeah. Guy's been around forever. Forever. Forever. Mid-70s with Montrose, right? Montrose, right. He was a singer in Montrose, and then he had a pretty successful solo career. Very successful. The Red Rocker. The Red Rocker. And then when Eddie Van Halen kicked David Lee Roth out of the band, they asked Sammy Hagar to take over in Van Halen. So I listened to an interview with Hagar yesterday. Think about all the bands you love. If the lead singer was gone, who do you put in?
That's just as good. Very few bands have been able to pull that off. You get rid of a guy like David Lee Roth, and then those are some really big shoes to fill. Hagar came in. The albums sold. They were more successful than the original Van Halen albums. Now, I'm a David Lee Roth guy. Always have been. Always have been. Hot for teacher. Come on. But after reading this interview and hearing Sammy talk about this stuff, I was like, I'm all the way in on Sammy now. Well, I've always been on Sammy. I think it's different, though. You know, I mean, look, they're Van Halen songs. I mean, Eddie writes the songs. Yeah. I mean, writes the music and stuff. But, you know, so you've got that sort of lineage musically. But it's different. I mean, there's David Lee Roth stuff. There's Sammy Hagar stuff. So anyway, Sammy's out, of course, doing a promotional tour to promote his book. And this is him talking about the possibility of a Van Halen reunion on Good Morning America. Are you going to get back together, though, with Van Halen? You think you guys are going to do something? With this book coming out, probably the chances are below zero. It's like... But once all this bunch is under the bridge and Eddie puts his book out and tells him what he thinks about me, probably, then maybe we can do it again. I'll be happy to be friends again. You know, it's one of those things with these guys where they will do it for the money.
I mean, it's been very clear that, you know, with the last Van Halen tour they had, they had David Lee in the fold, and he was out there playing. And I heard it was terrible. You know, I heard the opposite. I heard it was incredible. I heard it was terrible. But I think it was a day-to-day thing. But, okay, so the new Rolling Stone's out. This is the one with Snooki on the cover. There's an excerpt in the book, or in Rolling Stone, from Sammy Hagar's book talking about, you know, his time in Van Halen. And a couple of instances where they take the excerpt where he, First talks about being invited to join the band back in the 80s after David Lee had been kicked out. And then also they talk about some of the stuff that went down between. And it sounds like Eddie was off the rails. You guys, he drank a lot. But this is the wildest thing that you... This may be the top three wildest things you've ever heard. Eddie had tongue cancer. Okay? He got tongue cancer. And he smoked like a chimney. Yeah, I don't. I spoke with three today. He told everybody he got cancer in his tongue from putting the guitar pick in his mouth while he played. What? He said the guitar pick caused him cancer. That's right. Do you know how he treated his cancer? No. This is the most. This is mind-blowing. You couldn't guess if I gave you 1,000 guesses. He cut out his tongue. No. Well. He did. He had a pathologist. Like, he hired a pathologist.
slice off pieces of his tongue, liquefy them, and inject it back into his body. Oh, my gosh. And I'm not kidding. He said it. He goes, I beat cancer. And he eventually did beat cancer. It sliced off pieces of his tongue? Sliced off pieces of his tongue, liquefied that piece of tongue, and injected it back into his body. To build, like, antibodies or something? I don't know. I don't for the life of me. I read it, and I go. He doesn't know. I read it, and I go, hang on. I got to read this again. Now, this isn't Sammy's book, though. So this is Sammy retelling this part about Eddie Van Halen. Telling him that, yes. But when he talks about when he got asked, I mean, he leaves Van Halen. He got kicked out in the mid-'90s. Because the way Eddie looks at it is, look, it's my band, it's my name, so... I'm in charge here. So he kicks Sammy out, right? And he leaves the band. So they talk about getting back together. They're going to do a couple of songs for Greatest Hits record. And he comes back, and he meets him, and he's shocked. Shocked when he sees the shape that Eddie's in. This is the greatest guitar player of all time. This is Eddie Van Halen. Top two. Living in a mansion that's like squalor.
Beer cans, ashtrays, pizza boxes, hot dogs on the ground. Mattress on the floor in the middle of the living room. I mean, just like messed up. Yeah, like a squatter. It would look like a squatter lived in this mansion. That's Eddie Van Halen. Dude, it was. I read that article and was like, oh, I read it again. I mean, I want to get the book now. I got to read Sammy Hagar's book now. The thing about Sammy is, I mean, you know, Sammy for a guy. who is supposedly one of the greatest rockers of all time. He's got his head on. Oh, yeah. You take a look at what he's done. I mean, he was successful in his solo career. A lot of people thought he was nuts to go from a successful solo career to suddenly go in Van Halen. To try to replace Roth. What's interesting, and I wondered if this was ever the case, but he indicates in the excerpt in Rolling Stone that they had toyed with the idea of calling it.
Van Hagar. Because he was very successful as a solo artist at that point, and then they just decided, you know, he claims that it was his idea to call it, keep it as Van Halen, that Eddie actually offered it up to be Van Hagar. I'm not so sure I believe that. It's a fascinating article. You guys should read it. I mean, you guys probably wouldn't care, but the dudes out there that love Van Halen would absolutely love it. But you really, you look at what Sammy's done. I mean, so he leaves Van Halen again, gets kicked out. Goes on and continues his solo career. Launches his own line of tequila. Good tequila. Cabo Wabo is good tequila. I mean, it's premium tequila. He's rolling with that whole thing. He's got his Cabo Wabo thing down in Cabo San Lucas. And he's launched a new sort of super group called Chicken Foot. Chicken Foot. Which has got Michael Anthony. Who got kicked out of Van Halen. Weird. Who is an essential part, not only as a bass player, but as a background vocalist in this band. He's got Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers on drums. What is it? Joe Satriani's on guitar? Joe Satriani on lead guitar. Super group. So, interesting how there are some interesting parallels there to Van Halen. Absolutely. Fascinating, dude. Fascinating. And I wouldn't be at all surprised, even after all of this, if at some point in time...
there wouldn't be a Van Halen reunion. There was talk at one point in time of an actual tour with Sammy and Dave. They did it. I was there. You were there? I was there. I saw it. They flipped a coin to see who would open every night. Or they flipped a coin the first night, rotated after that. I saw it. It was awesome. Imagine what backstage is like in a situation like that with those guys. I mean, just tension. The book sounds fascinating. And one final thing I'll throw in here. This is also audio from Good Morning America. And Sammy's talking about Charlie Sheen. Charlie Sheen. You said something that when you have seen Charlie Sheen recently, that it reminds you of what... Of how Eddie was? Yeah, I don't know what's going on, but boy, there's a similarity in the way they look. My wife comes screaming in like about two weeks ago. I'm sitting there having my coffee, writing some lyrics from a new band, Chicken Foot, and we're doing a record. And she goes, oh my God, Eddie, you've got to see this. Look, look, look, he looks just like Eddie. And I went, ah! For the way he was acting and everything. And everything, yeah. So I don't know how you get like that, but something. Well, Eddie turned his life around and maybe Charlie can do the same. Oh, Charlie would be good. You know, it's interesting. One thing about Sammy.
Never misses an opportunity to promote. Yeah, I noticed that. Oh, yeah. Did you hear them? My new band, Chicken Foot. We're going to write some lyrics. Wow. Having a shot at some Cabo Wabo. Yeah. Sienna, what are the top 10 cities to date a nerd? This is fantastic. Seattle. New York. 100 Seattle's on there. Seattle is not on there. Really? No. This has to do with, like, brainy companies and schools that are there. Simi Valley. What? Silicon Valley. San Francisco. Silicon Valley. Sunnyvale, California is number one. Shocker. Somerville. Okay, here comes the state things that I'm not good at with. Oh, wait. Here we go. I'm giving him the list. You want me to do the list? Yes. We should quiz you while you're here. It's Geography Boy. We did this when we very first started the year. Sienna doesn't like state abbreviations. Not that she doesn't like them. I don't know that. She doesn't know them. All right. Okay, so I'm just going to quickly point this out, but this is one of the problems with the latest educational moves. Oh, wow. Kids today, and you are a kid to me, do not know geography. That is true. That's true. MD.
Maryland. Yes. Very good. VA. Virginia. Yes. Montana. Two for two. CO. Colorado. Yes. Nice. MI. Missouri. Not Montana. Michigan. Yes. Michigan. Okay. MA. Montana. Massachusetts. Yes. Cambridge, Massachusetts is up there. That's the home of... Of Harvard and MIT. Somerville, Massachusetts. Never heard of it. Berkeley, California. Santa Clara, California. Ann Arbor, Michigan. Boulder, Colorado. Wait, Ann Arbor is one of the top ten towns for nerds? Is that where University of Michigan is? Did I just say to eat? To date the nerd. What's on your mind? What's on my mind? Oh, my God. It's funny because he's fat. Wow. But it's okay. I went to McDonald's again yesterday, by the way. Two cheeseburgers fries. Do you get the same thing every time? Yeah. Dude, Woods, you came in here yesterday morning and was like, guess who only ate 300 calories for dinner? I had fish with lemon. And then you go to McDonald's on your way home? He had to make up for it. Yeah. Even it out. That's the whole thing. He's like going, you know what, man? I can justify.
having the drive-thru express because I have fish. Well, that's because you have big jugs. They're not that big. Never thought I'd play that for you. I did. I meant him. He's a creep. Don't look at me like that. How dare you? I love you. I meant Jay. You never make fat jokes about me. That was for Jay. So I have an email here addressed to the Mikey Show. I mean it. An email for the Mikey Show. It says, hey, Mikey and crew. So obviously this was sent prior to my hosting site here. Thank you. It says, let me start this email by saying that I listen to you guys all the time and I'm loving the chemistry you have all built in such a short time. That's pretty sweet. They must have written this months ago. I'm just kidding. This is addressed to Mikey. It says, Mikey, I know your opinion on marriage and that one should stay with their spouse at nearly all costs, with the exception being cheating. But I had to ask you guys your opinion on this one. My husband and I have been married for four years, together as a couple for eight. He's gone off into this weird thing lately. He wants us to become minimalists. That's right. Minimalists. What?
He met this guy about six months ago who literally owns like 60 things, and he's brainwashed my husband into thinking that this is the way to live. My husband has quit his job. Oh, wow. And says that I make plenty for us to, quote, survive on. Happy birthday. Yeah. I don't want to survive. This is not what I signed up for. It's ridiculous. What would you guys do? M1 Nikki. Oh, my gosh. Holy cow. Wow. There's people like that in San Diego. Oh, for sure. Where do they live? One of my friends, he lives in Lucadia and is down to, I think, a bed, a desk, but maybe no chair, and can rattle off, like, I have three t-shirts, I have two pairs of pants. Well, okay. Maybe because he lives in Lacadia, that's all he can afford to have. No, no, no. He's decided to become a minimal. And there's some magic number that he has to stay under those amount of possessions. And if he gets one thing, he gets rid of another. Yeah, that's my friend. He has a deal. If one thing comes in, one thing has to go out. No way. Are these guys drug dealers? They've got to be able to pack up and move at the drop of a hat? He's a spy. It's kind of like a statement. I don't know if it's to themselves.
To us? Consumerism? There is a movement afoot, I've read about this, where people are trying to shrink everything down to live in a very small space. And you only have what you essentially need. And maybe that works if it's just you or maybe a couple. But I could not imagine being a couple with kids and trying to live that way. Well, I can do it. I've done it. When I had my apartment here before Jamie moved out here, I literally had a bed. a TV that was on a stand. You were miserable. And that's all I had. You were miserable. Jay brought some old ghetto ass chair that I never sat in. Dude, you're one of the most miserable people I've ever, ever met during that point. There's no question. But I could do it. I have done it. And I don't need a lot to get by. I mean, I don't have toys and things like that. I don't need a lot. I've done it. I would never go, hey, babe, I'm going to quit my gig. Yeah. Try to shrink our house and get rid of possessions and whatever. Yeah, it's taking it too far at that point. It's mind-boggling how much stuff you do have. I quit my job and tried to sell off all my stuff, and I was going to move to Australia. I did for a couple months, but I was going to stay there. And my sister was like, I've never seen anything like this, going through all the different... The garbage you have. Yeah, just the weird stuff that I kept. Well, and here's the deal. If she's questioning...
I mean, I know Mike's take is that you work it out, you figure it out. But if your husband does such a dramatic change, that's like a change. That's not what you signed up for. That's not what you signed up for. Now, he is a totally different person than whom you married. He's maybe still the same person, but his lifestyle is now affecting your lifestyle. Their lifestyle together. I would just have a very honest conversation. Yeah, I'd have a very honest conversation. It's like, that's not cool. You're not working and me carrying all the load. That's the thing that's weird right there. The whole thing about just quitting. I'm quitting my gig. I'm going to quit my job. It's very selfish. Yeah. Happy birthday, dude. You make enough, therefore I'll live off of you. Yeah. Not cool. Well, you know, it's... You see Mosquito Coast, the movie, the Harrison Ford movie, where he plays the crazy guy, decides to pack up and move his family to the jungle. That's cool. That's Jay, by the way. That's totally cool. I'll just do it in a minute. Jay could be that guy. He ends up making ice. Is that the one? Yeah, where he builds the ice maker in the middle of the jungle. Like ice ice or like drug word ice? No, no, no. Like ice ice. How do you make ice? You just freeze water. That's a math lab. But he's out in the middle of nowhere. He's in the middle of nowhere.
It's a trippy movie. It's a trippy movie. But it's one of those things where it's like he's the supposed decision maker in the family. He decides he's just going to uproot the family and they're going to go and they're going to go do this whole thing. And it's one of those things where, I don't know, there might ought to be some discussion in advance between the couple and the relationship. You'd hope. Takes two. Yeah, I think so. We have M1 Cave Dweller from Wisconsin. What's going on, dude? Hey, good morning. Garrett! Wisconsin! La Crosse! That was a really good guy. You know, it's rough what her husband's putting her through because you can't just make unilateral decisions like that. If he had given her a little bit of a heads up and they had maybe talked about it, she might have been able to meet him halfway on this. Drastic decisions like that.
those are a no-go when you're making that decision yourself. And I feel really bad for her because obviously she doesn't want to divorce him, but she's going to have to take progressively harsher steps to get him to realize that, you know, this isn't what she wants. And, you know, pulling the, you know, I'm the man, I make the decisions card, it's a no-go in this culture. Agreed. Agreed. Yeah. A thousand percent. She's going to have to lay down the law. You know, listen, I'm all for, and I've said it on the air before, like, you know, we've had emails and stuff about husbands that are like, hey, you know, I want to do this and this means a lot to me and it's my dream. But this is like a new bit for this guy. It's not like, hey, I always wanted to be a minimalist and babe, I want us to embrace this lifestyle together. That's not the case. And it's at her expense. She now has to work for two and all of a sudden her stuff's gone. Right. Yeah. And he's getting rid of her. He's like, you don't need this. Oh, thanks. It's really selfish. And one of the big things is when you're in a relationship like that, yeah, you're supposed to support each other and go with each other and you're supposed to stay married, but that's also a two-way street, too. This guy, if he really loves her, if he really wants to stay married to her...
he's got to realize that he's got to make some concessions, too. No question. Well, marriage, a successful marriage, is built on a lot of compromise, and you've got to talk it out, you've got to work it out, and they need to work that out. The thing I heard about marriage, I always remember this. Plenty of secrets. I don't practice it as much as I should, but it's give and take, but more give, a lot more give than take. Cave Dweller, thanks, dude. Good to hear from you. Good to give. All right, rock on. You're doing a great job. All you are. Thanks, dude. See you. M1 Instigator from Oceanside. What's this YouTube thing you were talking about? Oh, stop, stop, stop. Give me a Garrett. Oh, shit. You know the rules, guys, if you call in. Garrett's filling in for Mike. You got it. Garrett! Garrett! So you're a YouTube video? There's this whole movement going on. There's a video on YouTube called The Story of Stuff. I've heard about this. And what it talks about is pretty much consumerism and how everybody is buying all these things that they don't need. And it talks about the national happiness for Americans declined in the 50s. It hit its heights in the 50s and started declining after that. And what it also shows is how people are buying that they don't need. Right.
You know, when I look at the video, you know, I can kind of maybe reason with this guy, but the problem is that people see this video and they're like, oh my gosh, I have way too much of everything, and they just started liquidating everything they possibly can. People really don't know what to do. They're so used to having a thing. So kind of back his wife up. Yeah, she definitely needs to stand and be like, look, you know, I understand what you're doing, but there might be a different way we can do this or do it together. Yeah. Well, you know what? They could downsize if they wanted to without him quitting his gig. It's like, hey, man, purposely downsize. Put your money away. But don't quit your gig. Put me in a bad position. Chances that this guy that her husband met smokes fresh marijuana? No. Instigator, thanks for reaching out, dude. A thousand? Five thousand percent? No, that's part of it.
No more marijuana? Well, I don't know. The true minimalist. The real guys. The true minimalist grows their own, apparently. Yeah. It's a clear mind-body space. You compost. I like that. I love that. You recycle. They use that as their bed. Yes. Fresh marijuana leaves. Wow. Yeah, lamp made out of resin. Emma and Nikki, I feel bad. Me too. Good luck. That's brutal. Good luck. It's the Mikey Show. Coming up, what product was so good? Or so bad, you wrote the company. Also, Wanda Sykes complains about her wife taking her on a surprise birthday trip. And a Sweet 16 party canceled after 200,000 RSVPs on Facebook. That's what happens when you go on Facebook. She's coming up on The Mikey Show on FM 94.9. This is one of the songs that lyrics have been mangled up for years. I believe it. My wife. Informing that she thought the lyric was, I drive fast and park it. Makes sense. Makes sense. Instead of brass and pocket. Yeah, I got brass, because what does that mean? Yeah, I got brass and pocket. My friend, Bark Malman, whose dad thought Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top was Shotgun Sam.
Which is just... Every girl's crazy about Shotgun Sam. Which is just... I know I am. Which is just awesome. It's easy top. That makes sense. A girl I dated thought... Or her father thought that it was... I wear a turtleneck dress. Oh, wow. Wow. I knew someone who thought Billy Ocean's Caribbean Queen was Paragold's Twist. That's amazing. Paragold's Twist. Yeah. I don't get that at all. I don't know. How do you get that? I have no idea. My mom also thought Because the Night, which is 10,000 Maniacs, but I think it was originally Patty Smith. She thought it was Venus and I are just two lovers. Oh, wow. Wow. Venus and me are just two lovers. Wow. That's dead on. But see the way Natalie Merchant butchers the song, because she phrases weird. That sounds just like Natalie Merchant. Maybe one more time. Venus and me are just two lovers. Maybe one more time. Nah. See, if it was a Patti Smith version, that wouldn't happen. That was...
Awesome. I do a good Natalie Merchant, if it ever comes up. Yes. She's constantly in the news. Yeah, it's not very handy. We're going to find a way to work in These Are Days. Yes. So she can do that one time. Sienna, what's going on in the news? These are days. Wow. AT&T announced plans yesterday to upgrade their wireless network in San Diego County. This year, they want to improve reliability and enable 4G mobile broadband services. It's on. Maybe they're feeling some competition. They say that they're planning to install backhaul connections to 500 cell sites. Maybe it's competition is good for the consumer. Absolutely. Also, some good news. The mayor in Oceanside, Jim Wood, has returned. Wood. He recovered from a minor stroke that he had in February, and he was back to work yesterday. So good news. Doing better. Good. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, today is a big week in college basketball. We've been talking about it all morning. The NCAA tournament is starting. It's actually started. It started last night, but it's continuing today. And the big games start tomorrow, including your San Diego State Aztecs.
Get on board, baby. Well, that's just an old sport. It's an old sports guy thing. You're San Diego West. Yeah. It's fair enough. Our San Diego State Aztecs. We love them. We'll be taking on Northern Colorado. And we'll be beating them about 15, 20 points. It's number two against number 15. So get your brackets filled out because the Mikey Show has filled out their brackets. I have Ohio State winning it all. Lauren has Pittsburgh. Sienna has Pittsburgh. And our friend, our good friend Jay Isbell, is going with the hometown San Diego State asset to win the whole thing. Lauren doesn't lie. He never has. I hope he's right again. You ever just kiss it real good? Dude, I'm with you. I got to fill out my brackets in the building here, and I'm thinking that's a pretty good pick. I got a feeling. I feel for them, man. I feel like they got a shot. So, you know, just to be safe, I'm going to fill out two. Oh, you're smart. You got it, man. You got to. Anything else here, Woodsy? Nope, that's it, pal. That's all you got for me? Peace. Well, it's the Mikey Show. Mikey's out sick today, and he really is. I mean, he seemed like he was in really rough shape when he was leaving yesterday, and it got worse as the day progressed. And I know that if you are an M1 and you were on the Mikey Show Facebook page, Mikey posted, I don't know, about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, that he was sick as a dog, but he was going to be here with bells on. He changed his mind.
So I'm Garrett sitting in for today. Garrett! I'm Dr. Clown Shoes. That's what we call you when you're not around. Dr. Clown Shoes. Dr. Clown Shoes? Dr. Evil. Nice. Thanks, man. Dr. Evil. Dr. Evil. He looks like Dr. Evil. You do look like Dr. Evil. I do not. A thousand percent. Just a hundred percent. I look nothing like him. Identical. Just like your brothers. Not true. Identical. Not true. Sienna is our news girl. Sienna's over here to the left, and she's keeping me on track this morning. Thank you, Sienna. You're welcome. Woodsy News sports guy and man who loves to eat McDonald's. Fair enough. Crossed away from me. L.O.B. drinking coffee over here. Almost through the nose. Is that funny, L.O.B.? I'm taking Mikey's place today. The guy that L.O.B. picks up. Like my man. L.O.B. does like black guys. That's right. True story. And we got Jay over there behind the glass in a place where he really can't hurt anybody. Just buttercuping himself real good. That was real good. And screening the phones is Chris. It's Chris! And speaking of the phones, we've got M1 Harold on the line from San Marcos. Hey, M1 Harold, what's up? Oh, wait, I've got to hit this, don't I? Harold? Garrett. I want some more enthusiasm. Wow. In the Garrett! He called to just say Garrett.
Garrett. That's a good bit. You know what? Go ahead, M1. He was on hold a long time just to do that. Just to say Garrett. I want to do Garrett. I'm just going to say it, and I'm so sorry. What? Maybe like a Garrett contest. In. Immediately in. Is anyone else in? Immediately on board. Everybody else is like, you know, let's see what Jeff and Jarrah are doing right now. Oh, wow. I'm kidding. Why do you hate us? Is it okay if I say Garrett instead of... Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. No, because that would be appropriate because, well, I worked for a boss at one point. Where were you? In Philly. That's how she spoke. I used to call you Garrett all the time, and now everybody says Garrett. So I say Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. It would be like saying, I eat broccoli and carrots. What do you say? Carrots. Carrots. Carrots. She's got the filly in her, man. Carrots. She does. Carrots. What product was so good or so bad that you wrote the company about it? Anyone? I got one. I got one. All right. Tylenol cold burst. I couldn't find the blue.
flavor any longer. They only had this other off-brand of it. He's addicted to Tylenol. When you're sick, it's the only thing that makes you feel better. It tastes like candy cane water. It's so good. Is this like you put the tablets in the water cup? No, no, no. It comes in a bottle. It's blue. The blue kind is the best kind. You just pour it in a little tiny cup and shoot it. Or just drink it right out of the bottle. This is great with vodka. It's only when you're sick. Only take this when you've exhausted all natural effort. So you wrote the company? Yeah, I actually wrote the company. Good or bad? I just wrote on there because I couldn't find the blue anymore. I thought they discontinued the cold burst series. And they had. Turns out I'm colorblind. I didn't know. Turns out they just hadn't stocked the stores or something with it. And they said, don't worry. Turns out you drank it all from every store in San Diego. Apparently there was a run on it in your area. You're hoarding. I might have gone to a sandwich place that rhymes with Ubway.
And I might have gotten chips that rhymes with pays. And I got my bag back to my desk and I opened the bag and there were like four chips, three to four chips in there. And I literally almost lost my mind. I almost mad cried. So would you lean to the chip company? Yeah. Oh my God. Yeah. I just spent, you know, $2 on a bag of. 15 cent chips and I got four chips. How do they do that? What did they do? They sent me a box of Lay's. Did they really? Yeah, it was killer. That was the deal. That's why I went on a tear when I was in high school. That's a good idea. I'm going to complain more. People were like, yeah, if you just write and tell them how much you like it or something. So at first I wrote to Pert Plus and then it was like all these different products. I didn't get anything. Nothing. You got nothing? I got nothing. Oh, they did. They sent me back a little look. A coupon. Yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, I did get it. Pat and Crunch. Coupons, not a box of free stuff. Typically, the deal is people have an expectation that their experience is going to be good. So if you go to a restaurant and you love the restaurant, generally, you expect it. You expect to like the place. So people don't take the time to write or say thanks. But, man, you get a bad meal or you get bad service, you're all over it. I always say the thing you have to be mindful of is,
If you like something, you tell a couple of people. You hate it, you tell everybody. That's a bit that I do at restaurants. If I get really good service, I will let the manager know, hey, Sienna worked her butt off. She was dynamite on my way out the door. And I don't know what happens, you know, if they go over and pat them on the back or whatever. But I know it makes me feel a lot better. You know, it can't hurt. But you were in customer service, and you know how important that is and what it means to somebody who's had to do that. I mean, you know, and that's a great thing to do. I mean, if you get great service or there's something exceptional about your experience, it's great that you share it. Yeah, you need to. But, man, I'll tell you, people love to unload. Oh, they do, man. As somebody who's been on the receiving end both ways, you know. Whoa. Easy. No, no, I mean, you know. Easy. I just don't want you to hurt yourself. Well, you know. We know that you get emails about us. I mean, look, when we launched FM 94.9 a little over eight years ago, you know, there was a lot of love out there for what we did because we did something unusual. We did a rock station that hadn't been done this way in probably years, if ever, in some cities. But, you know, it was kind of old school in the way we went about doing it. And there was a lot of love.
And I was like, wow, this is mind-blowing that people... Well, no, there always is with FM 94.9. I mean, people dig the radio station and what we stand for and what we do. And I was shocked because typically you don't get people telling you how much they love something because they expect it. But I guess in our experience, and maybe it was just the level that rock radio or the expectation of rock radio had sunk to, people were blown away by it. You know, now... I've seen how vicious people can be, too. And the thing that's really difficult to wrap your head around is because of social networking and because of the Internet and because of email, it's a lot easier for people to complain and be gutless cowards about it. Do people ever freak out about four hours of morning radio? No, not at all. Not at all. Never. Never. So every day. Every day. Oh, this is a good one. We have to talk to this person. This is M1 Klein from El Cajon calling from the box. What's going on? Hey, how you doing, bud? Yeah, just listening to your show. My wife called Toyota right after that one guy got killed because of the format thing. Oh, yeah. And she got in an accident right after that, but it was unrelated to the format. And she wrote Toyota and thanked them for designing her car so well because of all the crumpled bones.
where everything just collapsed like it should. They sent us $200. Oh, wow. Wow, that was nice. Wow, they were doing all that recall stuff? That is killer. Yeah, they sent us $200, $200 Visa gift cards. Jay's like, can I get the address for that? I'm going to write them today. That's Jasper's College Fund. Hey, we had really good service at Claim Jumpers one time. She emailed them. They sent us $50. Wow. That's killer. So it's the other way around because, you know, you complained. Wood's complained about the chips, and he got a box of chips, but you guys went the other way and complimented them and got some love. I worked at a grocery store in town, and the complaint, the minor one. Whoa. Sorry, dude. Got it. Got it. Wow. I hit it. I'm very proud of myself. And I punched the button. He said a bad word. We had to push the dumb button. Hey now, dude. Sorry, bud. All right, brother. It's all right. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Oh, boy. Did you spill? I reached for the dump button. Oh, boy. Lauren spilled. Man, is that on Mikey's laptop? Is it? I think it's on Mikey's laptop. Mikey's laptop? Oh, no. There's coffee running out of it. It is not. Oh, Mikey. Did Lauren ever spill anything in that room? Mikey, it's a good thing you have six laptops because your MacBook Pro. Bring your iPad. Bring your iPad tomorrow. Not your old one, but your new one.
Everyone relax. Maybe bring your old one just in case. Thank you. Oh, wow. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. It's going to be fine. It's going to be fine. You know, put some rice. Put in a bag of rice. It's fine. Yeah, Mikey. We'll just crack it. It's not on his laptop. It's running down the screen of his laptop right now. Oh, no. I can see it coming up. Why are you? It's not going to. You're not going to be able to fix it like that. I love it. I'm shaking. Stop shaking it. I'm shaking all the liquid out of it. I'm sure Jeremy can fix it. It'll be fine. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. Nice. So, Sienna? Yeah. What's the deal with the Sweet 16 party where 200,000 people are speaking on Facebook? What's the deal? What's that? Because I can't imagine this at all. There's an Australian girl turning 16, and she actually sent out a birthday party invitation to her schoolmates on Facebook. Now, this event somehow went viral. Like Kiss playing or something? There's some band playing? No, it was just a regular Sweet 16 invitation. And someone allegedly hijacked the page, posted the event everywhere, and they got over 200,000 people received and accepted the invitation. That's awesome. This girl's address was on it. All of the schoolmates' names were on there. You going Woods? Yeah, I'll be there. Mom! How old is she? It's Sweet 16. Yeah, you know that. I'll be there. He's hosting it.
I'm emceeing. Imagine, though, that poor girl had to, like, look on her page. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. And had to tell her parents. I'm really popular. 200,000 people. That's awesome. That's insane. How desperate are people? Yeah. I'll go to the Sweet Steaks. I think there was a bit. I think they were doing a bit. Yeah. Which is great. Let's all mob on, you know? That's so great. Wow. Mom's like, I only have enough strudel for 20. Strudel. Now in La Jolla, of course, that's a regular occurrence. Well, yeah, clearly. Because clearly, you know. Run out of hotels and stuff. What did you do for your Sweet Sixteen, Sienna? The convention center. Lil Wayne. Yeah. Did Usher play at your Sweet Sixteen? For my Sweet Sixteen, we went to Warner Springs. Are you familiar with Warner Springs? Yeah. And my parents got like a whole bunch of rooms for us. And all my friends went out there and just partied. What kind of car did you get? I didn't. Well, I got a Jeep. Chad Jackson played, you know. Yeah. Usher real good. Yeah. Usher. Diddy. Diddy. Yeah. Because teenage girls in La Jolla love Usher. No. No. Wow. Wanda Sykes was apparently on one of the talk shows recently talking about a surprise that her wife had for her for her birthday.
I didn't know she had a wife. I didn't either. It weirds me out that she refers to her significant other as her wife. But it's her wife. They probably are married. I get it. Somebody's pitching, somebody's catching. I guess. They're both girls. Weirds me out. Do you have the audio, Jen? Yeah, I do. Yeah, man. Happy birthday. So what did you do? Thank you. Thank you. Big party. What did you do? Very special. Happy birthday. Are you a surprise person? Do you like surprises? I am not a surprise person. And for some reason, Alex, my wife, cannot understand that. Because since we've been together, every birthday she's given me some type of a surprise. It's like she's being mean now. Right, right. So I had a surprise lunch. My friends were there. Mexican restaurant was really good. And then after that, I get in the car and she goes, I'm taking you away for the... I'm like, I'm taking me away. She's like, yes, I packed your bag. We're going away for the night. I'm like, I'm 47. You can't just whisk a 47.
Same bit. Same bit over and over again. Same bit over and over again. And I was sitting there thinking, oh my god, I got my contact lenses in. Did you pack my bifocals? I can't keep my contacts in all night. And it's just like, oh, I just packed you fresh panties. Fresh panties. What? I'm 47. I need at least two pairs of fresh panties. What? Too much. I just thought about Wanda Sykes' panties. I know you're not a fan of that word anyway. What if I sneeze? This is too much. Oh, wow. Last time we let Jay pick the audio. The motorboat? Wow. Seems inappropriate. Wow. I don't know, man. I don't really get Wanda Sykes. It's the same bit over and over again, but I also don't really get Chris Rock because I think it's the same bit over and over again. Yelling at people? Kind of. Yelling your comedy out? Kind of the thing? Dude, you love that one. I do. You love it. All right, so apparently two former teen sensation supergroups are going to collaborate. Oh, thank goodness. I'll tell you about it coming up. Also, what major lead vocalist for a major band apparently is a solo record? Coming up on The Mikey Show, FM 94.9.
Nice. This song was in The Fighter that I watched last night. And I highly, highly recommend that movie. Two thumbs up. It's a great movie. I was going to ask, is it worth it? Absolutely it's worth it. So worth it? Should have won everything. Yeah. Kristen Bale as a crackhead was brilliant. Brilliant. Brilliant. And my wife, Mark Wahlberg, is shirtless the entire movie. Of course she is. So my wife was all the way in. He is cut, too, man. Dude, he's cut like a madman. Yolked up real good. Great body. What? Easy. Yolked up. Is that like a Texas thing? No. Yolked up. Yolked. Just, you know, when you're that way. When you look like me with your shirt off, that's what we call it. Yolked. Yolking up. I'm all yoked. The opposite of woods. It's the opposite of woods, Sienna. I know. Yolked. I know, Texas. So I'll be surfing in two hours. Sue me. Sue me.
Sue me, because I'm yoked up. So I was the original Adonis DNA. So what? So sue me. I tan without going in the sunlight. Sue me. I know. I'm sorry. Yes, I get called a model from time to time. It's no big deal. I've been a nude model. He has been a nude model. That's the funny part. He's bragging about it, wouldn't he? I've been bragging. The Mikey Show is usually Mikey, but he's out sick. Sienna? Woodsy? L-O-B, J, and screening the call today is Chris. It's Corral. It gets more out of control every time. It's Corral. March Music Madness, which is not the basketball tournament, but a thing we've been doing on FM 94.9 for a couple of years now, kicks off tomorrow. Go to the website at fm949sd.com. The brackets are up. We have four regions, 70s, 80s, 90s, and the 2000s. So cool. So cool. It's fun. It's fun. Brackets are up now? They're up now. And if you want to go take a look at the matchups and stuff, they're up there. You have to be an insider to fill out your bracket? You do not need to be an insider to fill out your bracket, but you do need to have a separate sign-up to vote.
in the competition, the way it works is we will each hour throughout the matchups, which kick off tomorrow at 10 a.m., and go all day tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and then noon to 6 on Sunday, because you've got to get through the whole first round. You can vote who you want to advance in each matchup during that one-hour matchup. So, for instance, I will tell you tomorrow at 10 a.m., it will kick off out of the 80s region. with The Cure taking on The Cult, and Hillary will do the matchup. Oh, dude. The Cure versus The Cult. How do you pick that one? Oh, my gosh. So The Cure is the five seed. The Cult is the 12 seed. And during that hour, Hillary will play a set of songs from The Cure, then a set of songs from The Cult, another set from The Cure, another set from The Cult. And throughout the hour, if you are registered to vote, you can vote and help determine who advances on to the next round. So cool. It's easy for me. Yeah, me too. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, we'll be doing match-ups. And it'll be, you know, for instance, you have The Cure versus The Cult. You've got Smashing Pumpkins versus Soundgarden. You've got Pearl Jam versus The Offspring in the 90s. You've got The Black Lives. Really? Well, that's because Pearl Jam is the number two seed. Offspring's a 15 seed. Who are your number one seeds, I want to know? Mews! Nope.
Led Zeppelin is the number one seed in the 70s. Number one seed in the 80s is U2. Nice. Number one seed in the 90s is Nirvana. Nice. Number one seed in the aughts is Radiohead. Very good. Who won last year? Last year was Led Zeppelin. Nice. Anyway, so go to the website, fm949st.com. The brackets are up. Keep in mind, if you want to vote and participate while the matchups are going on, you've got to be registered to do so. And it's a separate registration from being an FM 9490 insider. Get it! He had all of those bands written on a piece of yellow paper, and he used whiteout. I do everything on a legal pad. Dude, you can't whiteout something on yellow paper. Sure you can. Why can't I? They should make yellow out. Why not just draw a line through it? Because it's messy. This is better. Why not get a white legal pad? This works. Because I like yellow. You do. I know. I got yellow legal pads and post-it notes everywhere. I noticed. All right. So, which...
Former teen sensation groups are going to collaborate, Sienna. Well, we did know that New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are going to be on tour this summer, but what we didn't know is that they're also joining forces in the studio. Oh, yes. Yes. New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are making a joint Greatest Hits album. You had me a joint. The album, which is going to be titled... N-K-O-T-B-S-B. Wow. Get it? Are you listening? No, I'm not going to be. It's going to have the top five. Do you guys even care? No. N-K-O-T-B-S-B? Yeah. And New Kids on the Block. Backstreet Boys. No, they don't. I don't care. They share the B. They share the B. Okay. What's scary is there are people out there, I know them, who will care about this. Mostly women. I care. Women and more women. I have a friend who lives in the D.C. area. Billy! No. She loves New Kids in the Block. Oh, come on. But also... It's a bit.
No, no, no. Because at the time... Girls love it. A lot of them. She was like a teenager when New Kids on the Block were out. But she never let go of her fascination of pop music and teen idol groups. And so as the time went on, she became a Backstreet Boys fan as well. So for her, this is the dream. And I will guarantee you that if they have a date where she lives, she will be at that show. New Kids on the Block was my first ever concert. Really your first? But I was 11. I always remember your first. Yeah. I was in 99th. Was this at a mall? No, it was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Philly. Where was it? The Spectrum. The Spectrum. Second to last seat in the place. Got a Rocky statue in front of there. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Liberty Science Center. Oh, is that where that is? It's been a while. On the joint Greatest Hits album, there's going to be mashups of... New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys songs. There's going to be the top five songs from each group on there. And then they have a single together called Don't Turn Out the Lights. All right. So tell me about our pal Eddie Vedder. What's going on with him? Eddie Vedder, a new song from him called Longing to Belong actually was leaked out earlier this week on Monday. Quote, unquote. It was played on a radio station in New York. Garrett.
We didn't like it. Thank you. And other songs. It wasn't us. Other songs, which are also going to be on his new album that he's doing, include Broken Hearted, I Know, and Satellite, which are some of his songs that he's played live over the years when he's done solo gigs. The song is, I've heard it. I wish I had it to play free, but I don't. But it's got lots of ukulele on it. It's his new bit. Well, not new bits. It's a couple albums. Jake Shimabukura. Oh, wow. Did you hear that story? No. Tell it, Lauren. I think I'm mispronouncing his name. He's an Asian ukulele player from Hawaii. Does it really mean while Sam gently weeps? Yes. And I saw him. First I heard his song. I saw the video on YouTube. Then I went to go see him live at the Belly Up. Stayed afterwards to get an autographed CD. And then that night sent him a message on MySpace. Please watch closely as I use my lips. And I told him he was beautiful. When was this? She went on his MySpace page and said, you are beautiful? About five years to sign me up for that.
All right, so this wasn't a recent thing. About five years ago. Was Matt in the picture? He was not, no. Gigantic. Ready to mingle with ukulele players. You were trolling. I was, I was trolling. Wiener time. That's right. Has a girl ever told you you're beautiful, Garrett? Nope. He is. Woods, has a girl ever told you you're beautiful? Nope. Jay? Of course, y'all. Of course. I had a girl tell me I'd be hot if I was a girl. I think Mikey told you that. I have long eyelashes. She goes, you'd be really hot and pretty if you were a girl. When was this, 1996? It was when I was in 9th or 10th grade. Is that her way of gently letting you down? I think she was telling me that I'm out on you and your winged hair and your braces. Styling your hair before you put your hat on and tight rolling your jeans. Maybe she was just a lesbian. Could be. This was in high school? Yeah. Really? Stacey Anderson. That must have been crushing to you in high school. Stacey Anderson. I got her later. I'm not lesbian.
My bad. I'm not even kind of lesbian. Sorry. My bad. My bad. My bad. My bad. I'm even kind of lesbian. Oh. Don't worry, Oprah. She's all over the place. So as I'm going down the list of things here, I'm a little spun out. Clearly. By one thing. What? One thing. Vanessa Hudgens. What is going on? Another one? Now, was I under a rock? I missed the first one. I did, too. I did, too. The nude photo scandal. Sienna said it's something to see, too. It's like the last presidential administration. Apparently, she looks like a 50-year-old Serbian man with his clothes off. I'm not kidding. You see that picture? That's awful, man. It's burned. She got bug queen in a leg lock? Thanks, Ovation. Thanks, Ovation. It's burned. In my mind. Did you hear that creep in there? What did he say? I can't say it. Buckwheat and something. A leg lock. You got in trouble the last time you said that. You're going to get an email, pal. Well, okay, Vanessa Hudgens, if you don't know who she is, she became a huge star from the Disney Channel. She was on High School Musical. She's been in some other stuff. A movie just came out called... Wiener Time. No, it came out like a couple weekends ago, and it's called Beauty or something like that. And the Bush.
Or Beastly. Beastly. Beastly. Thank you. I was just guessing. And the beast. He just transferred off me onto you. There you go. Jay told me to say it. Jay mouthed this to me. I was just guessing. So Vanessa Hudgens, the movie is called Beastly. Thank you, Jay. And the movie was called Bushly? Bushly? Bushly. Bushly. All right. Bushwhacked. George Bush? We're all fired. We're all fired. Bush Light? Okay. She dated Zac Efron for a long time. And a couple years ago, some frontal pictures came out that apparently she took for him with her cell phone. Cell phone got hacked. And you see everything. Everything up front you see. And now some more pictures of this 22-year-old have hit the internet. Oh, she's 22.
So we're all good. Right around Maddie's age. Right around your daughter's age. Shush your pie hole. Seriously, why? I've never understood why you would, you know, take the shots of yourself with your camera. You don't sell down your wife or anything? No. Well, if it went to you. Hey, Ann, I just sent you a text. No. Ring-a-ding-ding. Space needle from Seattle. Apparently, I'm out a little bit. Apparently, this is what Woods does to spice up the marriage. Nope. I've never sold them. Hey, baby, open up the thing I just sent you. I've never sold them. Who would want to see that, though? Not that. If it's like Sienna described, which Sienna has seen it. I don't want to see that. Yes, you do. Well, I have to see it, but now I have to. Great. Just don't do it on the work computer. You asked. You're in. Too late. You asked. Too late. Seen it. You did? Wow. Today? Wow. I don't know what to say. I'm done. I need more coffee. I need help. Save me now. I had to go back to this one more time. Why not? Love the voice.
The whole record's good, dude. Really good. Hold it off. Listen to that. You know what? Don't you dare. Don't you dare creeper. He said it. He said it. I can't help but laugh. You're trouble. All right. What kind of trouble is going on over here now? I found the Vanessa Hudgens. Those are the edited work. They're edited. Yeah, those are the edited work. It's my job. It's part of our job. What do we do? Social commentary. I'm talking about what's going on. I didn't ask her to take the picture. I'm going to be in the HR director's office after the show. Thanks. You're welcome. Thanks for getting me in trouble. You got to show them to her? I'm just saying. Let me make sure that you understand this. March Music Madness presented by Scion. Matchups start tomorrow. At 10 a.m. here on FM 94.9. Go to the website. It's on. FM949SD.com. The brackets are up. Bring it. Bring it. And tonight's 8 o'clock album. Wilco. Wilco. A.M. You've been mourning, dude. With Tommy. So there's one more thing I want to get to that I saw in the news here.
What is this about food stamps being approved for healthy restaurant meals? Well, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. Why is that Jay? Because he would be on food stamps if they would allow him. Okay. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted yesterday to begin a program that's going to be allowing more than 21,000 county residents to use food stamps to pay for healthy restaurant meals. It's called CalFresh Benefits, and it's just going to be offering low-cost, healthy menu options. Okay, so what is the definition of a healthy restaurant meal? McDonald's. It doesn't say, but it's not Taco Bell and stuff like that. Places with waiters. Money goes a lot farther at a supermarket. Yeah, but it's true. Obesity is such a big problem. And if eventually, you know, health care, if we're going to have to support those people that are not only using the food stamps, but then eating crappy food, it's like it comes back twofold. That's a great point. Teaching some healthy habits. Woods is like, what are you saying? What are you saying? They're going to say healthy foods. They're going to say what the healthy foods are, so it's going to come down to what the... So you think it'll be defined as to what it is? Yeah. Also, it says the restaurants that are participating...
participating in this won't be allowed to charge a sales tax or gratuity on the meals. They can't sell alcohol to the participants. And anyone using these food stamps at restaurants, it's going to be beginning in six months. I don't need a drink. Hill, what's a healthy restaurant in your mind? Give me an example. Because you're a pretty healthy eater. I see how you bring your lunch every day. It's generally something pretty good. Generally something L.O.B. would eat also. You know where you can get a healthy meal, inexpensive meal? Chili's. Chipotle. Oh, I love Chipotle. So good. So good. I get the veggie bowl, and I just get a little bit of rice, black beans, the fajita vegetables. Yeah. Little cheese, no sour cream. I drove by Chipotle last night, 6 o'clock. 40 deep.
40 deep. I was like, I looked inside, I go, I can't do it. I wanted it. But they are professional in the assembly line there. They do. They do. It was so, it's so good. Yeah. I'm on it. I'm going to go get it right now. So that would be, so I wonder if that would be considered healthy, though. I mean, if that would fall under the category. Oh, it's low calorie. Fresh ingredients. All the vegetables. I lived in Denver when Chipotle was starting out there and used to go all the time. I loved it. I thought like Wahoos, too. Oh, yeah. Chicken rolls. Grilled fish. McDonald's, no? I wonder, though, if it's going to be one of those things where they put a stipulation on the restaurant brand, or is it certain items found on a restaurant menu? Like, for instance, McDonald's is working overtime right now to convince us all that they have healthy choices on the menu, and they are. They're making some, especially for the kids' meals. The oatmeal apparently was on the list of the healthiest oatmeal that you could get. It's a new thing they have on their menu. Anyway. I just think it's interesting. It's an interesting angle on the whole food stamps thing. But it depends. Like, I took my daughter to OG's over the weekend, and, I mean, they have so many really rich, crazy foods that are delicious, but I got, like, this half spinach salad with a little goat cheese and this light dressing, and it was great, and it was low-cal. So you got at OG's? I know. I did have a garlic knot.
My daughter had a cheese pizza. But I mean, you can choose stuff on every menu. That's going to be isolated. We have to have that. I did have a garlic knot. I did have a garlic knot. Absolutely. I did have a garlic knot. You can find healthy stuff anywhere. That's my point. All right. That was awesome. If you're willing to put forth the effort, you can. Did you have a bite of your daughter's cheese pizza? Oh, absolutely. How do you not? How do you not? Absolutely, I did. Oh, it's so good. It's the way that works. You mooch off your kid's plate. It's the way it works. Let's take one call before we go. We have M1 Redbeard from La Mesa. Garrett! Yes! Hey, you're doing a great job, dude. Just thought I'd call in. Hey, Wizzy. Yo! Love you, bro. I love you. Oh, wow. Should we just leave? Cool. I love you, Ray. Maybe you guys should get a room. It's a love fest. Garrett! It's a love fest. On that note, we must go. It is time to get out. Hill, I know that tomorrow you kick off March Music Madness, which we're all excited for. It's going to be the Cure versus the Cult tomorrow. Come on, Cult. I love the Cure, but I've got to go for the Cult. 15th seed. That's going to be a tough one. I know. Got to go Cult. Come on.
So go to the website, fm949st.com, and check out the brackets. Make sure you're registered to vote, because if you are not registered, you cannot participate in the voting when the matchups begin in the kickoff tomorrow. But what do you got coming up now? Well, I will play the cult in a little bit. Oh, there you go. Also, brand new Foo Fighters within the next 10 minutes. So good. I'll get on a perfect circle. New REM. The Clash. Social D. Good stuff. Are you going to take any requests? You promise? I always take requests. All day, every day. 570-1949. Call me up. Give me a request. Someday you will find the right button to press right over there. You know, I don't know how it works. Here it is. I have billing time. Yes, I will take requests. Yes, I will eat garlic knots. I have a garlic knot. I did have a garlic knot. That's going to be awesome. Every day when you come in, that's what you're going to get. Here comes Hillary. I did have a garlic knot. Wow. That was garlic knot.
Hopefully Mikey will be back and healthy tomorrow. Mikey's show is out late.
