We're talking on the mic. Bad jokes. Do we ever eat all the time? The whole song's about us eating. My egg, because I was like, eh. Let's make some noise in our live studio audience here today. We have a live studio audience every Friday, and it's a Mikey show. Welcome to it. We took yesterday off. The reason that we did was because we had Jay and Woodsy were out. We can't say why they were out. We were...
Allowed to at one point, and then we found out we're not allowed to anymore, and so we won't until the appropriate time. Oh, and on something completely, completely unrelated note, need to leave a couple hours early on Monday. Yes. Just FYI. Yes. Completely unrelated. Completely. Jay has to go with me, too. Yes. But you will be able to do the first couple of hours. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We can do a couple hours and then we have to go. You have to go somewhere. We've got to go somewhere. Yeah. Completely unrelated to where we were yesterday. Okay. And so at some point we will be able to tell you all about that. My name is Mikey and I am 40 years of age. I'm the host of the show and will begin my training with my personal trainer. Not next week, but the week after that. Why? Because I've worked it that way. I need to ease into it. I need to stick this landing. And the way that I do that is by procrastinating and putting it off as far as I can possibly put it off. To me, it's a lot like the way people react to surgery. A lot of people may say that that's an overreaction. And it probably is. Probably. But the bottom line is that I don't want to work out again.
I don't. That was an overreaction. I understand that. I understand. But the bottom line is I want to take my time with it. I have a question for you. Go ahead, Woods. A few years back, I was a bit of a troublemaker and was staring down a very unpleasant time away for a while. I had a couple weeks to go. I went hog wild in those two weeks. Are you, my friend Miguel, going to now say, well... Starts in two weeks. I can do whatever the hell I want for two weeks. I won't. I will not do that because it will only make it – I would do something like that if it didn't mean that I had to work it off. And so I don't want more to work off. Okay. That makes sense. So I won't. That makes sense. Woods is our sports guy and he is our guy's guy. He's 36 years old. Easy. What's that? 35. Are you still 35? Yes. You didn't have a birthday? In July. Oh, that's right. He's 35. Lauren O'Brien, otherwise known as LOB, is our assistant producer. She's a comedian. She's got a gig tonight, right? It's true. I do. Where are you? Winston's an OB. How about that? Yeah. So she will be out doing her thing tonight. You can go see her doing her stand-up. Sienna is our news girl. She is 26 years of age. And the girls...
always have to go through this thing where they put their makeup on before the show begins. But guys, we don't have to worry about that. Don't we? You look lovely. I didn't get to finish. People are walking in. I'm like... I know. I know. So sorry. Jay is our producer. He's 47. Don't know where he is. He was here. He did clock in. Yeah, he did clock in and don't know where he is now. And our phone screener is Chris. It's crap! It's crap! And he is ready to take your phone calls right now. 5701-949. And M1 is somebody that really loves The Mikey Show and is passionate about it and comes out to OSI. Let's hear it for OSI. Operation Street Impact is eight days away. This weekend, but next weekend is Operation Street Impact where we are putting the new Mikey Show sticker on every car in San Diego County. That's the goal anyway. So we want every single human being that's hearing this right now to come out to Qualcomm next Saturday and hang out with us. There's going to be food. There's going to be M1s just coming together and hanging out. And the main focus is to get that sticker on cars. But don't forget.
As you drive through, the first 5,000 people that come through are going to be given an envelope, and inside that envelope could contain a $24,000 FXDB Harley from Harley-Davidson. Somebody's going to win it. Somebody's going to win a home theater system from Tried and True. Home Theater and Security. There are going to be people. Somebody's going to win his and her mountain bike from Haro. We've got so many cool prizes in Ibanez Guitar, and we really want people to come out and hang with us. And a lot of people to thank, too. Dave & Buster's has just given us $1,000 $10 power cards. Those are going to be put in there. Pretzel crisps. They're giving us these reusable grocery bags. Choose Fitness is throwing in classes. So we have so much stuff to give away. Main thing is the sticker, but also some pretty cool giveaways and a great hang. Just a great hang for everyone to come out and be with us. The word of the day is lame sauce. Sienna Farrar. It's a word that I like. How dare you? I know.
How dare you? I hate the word, but he likes it. He loves it. I do like lame sauce. And so I'll somehow work the term lame sauce into a sentence between now and 10. Won't be hard for me. Not at all. Not at all. Of course you will. So I'll do that sometime between now and 10. Be listening when I do it. Caller 9 wins a four-pack of tickets to SeaWorld for Viva La Musica. Thank you. And also a $50 gift card to proflowers.com. Sunday is... Mother's Day. Yeah. You just call it Madre's Day. Yes, I call it... El Dia de Madre. Yes. You just said things I don't know what they mean. So, Sienna, Obama is taking some heat for his decision to not put out the... Wait, did I just say Osama is taking some heat? No, you said Obama. It's so confusing. You're fine. Yes. Yesterday, if you haven't heard, the White House announced that the photos of Osama bin Laden's dead body after he was slain will not be made public. Oh, boy. He actually did an interview with 60 Minutes, which is going to be airing on Sunday. And he says that he wants to ensure the images said to be extremely gruesome can't be used as a, quote, incitement to violence or a propaganda tool.
Why are we going to think that that's an incitement to violence? I mean, any more than killing him. Yeah, it's a great point. But I think if you put that face in that picture with a bullet hole in it and you start tacking it up on telephone poles around where he's from, it's going to incite some real feelings and hatred. Not that they don't have that for us, but I'd love to see him. I'm on your side. I'd love to see him. I want to see him. I need to see him. Well, you and the rest of the 9-11 victims and their families, they want to see that foreclosure. Yeah. Well, there it is. He's not going to release them. That sucks. Chances that they get out there. You know what it does, dude? It fuels the conspiracy theorist fire. Just like the birth certificate bit. I hope he doesn't do what he did with the birth certificate and wait two years to put him out. Well, I feel like it's almost like a dare. It's like, I dare you to get mad at me. What are you going to do? make a big deal out of this. All I'm going to do is eventually show you the photos and make you feel like a jerk. Right. For bringing it up. In two years. In two years. So go ahead. Feast. Rashard Mendenhall plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Made a complete dodo out of himself last week? Yes. He was tweeting and he's tweeting some pretty ridiculous things and it was over the death of Osama bin Laden. What did he say originally?
Originally, what he said is on Twitter about 9-11. He said, we'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take down a skyscraper demolition style. He said, what kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can hate a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side. So it was very ignorant because, you know, I said it on the air last week. You did. We have heard Osama bin Laden speak several times. We knew his feelings about America. We knew his feelings about 9-11. He was elated about the mission that they accomplished with 9-11. So basically what happened to Richard is... The athletic brand Champion said, you know what, man, we're going to pull the plug on our endorsement with you. Champion makes like sweatshirts and stuff like that, right? Yeah, so they said earlier this week, Rashard Mendenhall, who endorses Champion products, expressed personal comments and opinions regarding Osama bin Laden and September 11th. In light of these comments, we are not obliged to conduct a business assessment to determine whether Mr. Mendenhall could continue to effectively communicate on behalf.
and represent Champion with Consumers. So they're out. They pulled their endorsement with him. Yeah, well, it was a dumb thing to say. It is what it is. No charges against the cab driver that's involved. in the stingray crash yeah this happened back in february if you don't remember it was on a saturday morning around 1 50 a.m people were leaving stingray and a cab came crashing into this crowd um early in the morning and actually pinned one woman up against the wall 45 years old and she had oh man her leg amputated surgery all kinds of stuff so after a nearly three month investigate and get investigation, including reconstructing the crash, reviewing videotape, toxicology tests, interviewing about 50 witnesses, medical records, etc. They have decided that no charges will be held against the cab driver. Now, this is what they they determined that he fell asleep at the wheel.
And that it wasn't purposeful. The thing that I don't understand about it, though, is why that doesn't get you in trouble. Why falling asleep doesn't get you in trouble. It's negligent behavior. It's reckless driving. There's all kinds of stuff I would imagine that they could charge him with. I feel terrible for the lady that got hurt and the people that got hurt. But I think something's got to happen to the guy. Yeah, that's the deal. I think it's against the law to fall asleep while you're driving. Well, the DA's office reviewed the investigation and agreed with the police, and they said it was just an unfortunate accident. Wow. I saw him on TV. They were interviewing him. And I feel bad for him, too. Me, too. I do. I mean, I feel bad for everybody involved. The woman, they showed the woman that got hit. Beautiful, beautiful woman. From Encinitas. Dominique Gamble, 45 years old. No. It's creepy. Really creepy. A youngster. A youngster. A youngster? There's a lot of mummies that are youngsters to Jay, though. Fair enough. So when you think about it, that's not really saying a lot. Fair enough. So did you guys hear about this kidnapped baby? It all turned out good.
It all turned out as a happy ending, but what is this about? This is crazy. A teenage mother, 16 years old, was basically tricked into handing her two-month-old daughter to a stranger. This stranger was saying that she was part of a program for young mothers, and they were walking around downtown together for a few minutes, and then they went back to this daycare center, and the young mother handed over the baby to this woman. Her name is... Jamie Woods? No. Woods? Oh, that's... Oh, that's so uncomfortable. I was out of town. It could be her. I don't know. Woods was trying to adopt the baby. It fell through. And so to comfort himself, he does that. I was out of town. He says that laughter is the best medicine, so he makes these uncomfortable jokes. It's so uncomfortable. It could have been her. Well, but he laughed, though. Yes. This 31-year-old woman, now she has been arrested. Her name is Talia Gone. She directed the mother, the 16-year-old, to enroll. the baby or to enroll by going to Garfield High School, which is across the street from this daycare center where they were. She said, you go enroll. I'll take the baby into this daycare center. And the young mom said, OK, went over there and watched this woman take her baby with a stroller into the daycare center. She watched her walk in there as if she was, you know, working there. And apparently, according to the daycare center, they saw this woman walk in with a stroller and then walk right back out. And she was later found on a trolley.
Yeah. My goodness. Three miles north of the border. She was found getting off of a trolley, pushing the exact stroller. And a police officer went up to her, found out it was the woman who arrested her. And luckily, the baby was unharmed and returned to her mother three hours later. Do they know what the deal is? Like, what was this woman trying to do? I know it. It's so insane. We don't know yet. No, we don't know yet. Oh, that is just, that's so horrific. Yeah, it is. Yeah, don't hand your baby over to strangers. That's for sure. No matter who they say they are. Yeah. Let's see. 570-1949 is our number. If you want to text us, you can text us at 949mikey at gmail.com. Some other stuff that's happening in the news. Apparently, there was one dog that helped in the Bin Laden thing. The raid. Of course there was. How cute. Now, they're not saying exactly what kind of dog it is. They think either a German Shepherd or a Belgian, I don't know how to say the name. Belgian Waffle. Belgian Waffle. You would think that. It's a weird dog. Strange dog. Delicious, though. Delicious. Malinois, Belgian Malinois breed. It's right here.
Woods just thinks he knows everything. I do not. About dogs. Well, this dog was with the Elite Six, the Navy SEAL team, which killed Osama bin Laden. And it's just the sweetest dog. They show pictures of it. They're not releasing the name or much information about him for the secrecy of the SEALs. I'm going to say that it was not. The sweetest dog. It was. That thing's a face killer. He's a face ripper. He's probably a lap dog. He's so sweet. They're not giving the dog's name. No, because everything is secret. It wasn't a Yorkie. No, it was not a Yorkie. It was not a Yorkie. Well, the dog was strapped to another team member, a human, during the operation. And where they lowered themselves down ropes from the helicopters, the dog attached and went and killed Osama bin Laden. They don't want to give the dog – No. It's got to keep his privacy. The whole thing is secret. You know that? Of course. So they're saying it's unclear what exactly the dog's role was, but they say dogs are obviously twice as fast as humans. So if Osama tried to run, the dog would chase him and pin him down. He could also sniff out explosive, detect weapons or –
Or sit or roll over. Or fetch. This is really remarkable. I think we have him on the phone. Oh, rad. Yeah, you shouldn't say anything about my identity. Sorry. We're not allowed to say anything about my identity. Jay and I are in a very similar situation right now, too. Somewhere we went yesterday. We can't really talk about it. We can't really talk about it. He's Jason Priestley. Jason Priestley? But he's movie stars, huh? No, no, not at all. Back to me. Reality TV. Oh, boy. Gay Bachelors. The reality show. What are you doing? Just licking yourself? You would if you could. Just chilling. Yeah, I heard it, Jay. He is a creep. You worried about fan mail? Yeah, I am. out in one of these before. They let my name out there. I couldn't go anywhere. They'd walk into a Benihana. Fair enough. Or PetSmart. Everybody knows who you are. And it's not the kind of life that I got into when I went in the CIA. Right. You weren't looking to be Jesse James. No. I wasn't looking to be a star. All I wanted was to help my country. That's good for you, man. Thank you for your service. Or, not man. Doug. Thank you for your service, Doug.
You don't have to admit you're trying to be sensational. I'm really not. You're a dog, so I don't want to call you man. I'm not going to be offended if you call me man. Oh, okay. If I'm a dog doesn't mean you have to treat me differently. Fair enough. That's fair enough. Fair enough. Goodbye. Goodbye. Just so you know, the U.S. is believed to have more than 500 dogs serving in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Of course they're serving. They're serving. Dang. Yeah. I wonder if they wear little uniforms. Yeah, salute. Stripes. They get demoted if they poop on the wrong. They're on KP. They have to run laps. They have to run laps. Do push-ups. Yeah. So sweet. Let's see. Oil has now sunk below $100, which I'm guessing is a good sign, right? Because that means that probably, probably, if oil prices come down per barrel, that means that when we go to the pumps, it'll be less for us, which is good. Yes. Oil prices plunged more than 8% yesterday. Of course he does. Hell cheapo. So do I. I've been siphoning ever since it went up. That's all I do. Siphon my gas. I ain't going to pay for it. Y'all seen that garden house I carry around the back of my truck. Yeah, that's right. You think that's four. Every time one of my kids fills up, I steal it from my kids. Maddie has been complaining. My daughter Maddie has been going, Daddy, I don't know what's going on with my car. And I said, what's the matter? She said, every time I fill it up.
It's empty. Must be a leak. Don't know. Must be a leak. Actually, I've been stealing all Mikey's cooking oil for the past six months. And that's a lot of cooking oil. I haven't had to buy a single gallon. That's right. Oh, man. I wish that you could use Big Macs for gasoline. Guy uses a lot of Crisco. That's right. If you could use Big Macs and Crisco for gasoline, all I'd do is go over to Mikey and Wood's house every single day. Bing bong. Need some gas. So. What's the deal? What's the deal with the oil? They just said... Yeah, they said that the oil prices plunged more than 8% yesterday. Just weak economic data and a strengthening dollar drove the crude oil to one of the biggest one-day drops since April of 2009. Not bad. We have so much that we're going to be doing. First of all, I want to listen to a clip of Obama on 60 Minutes. 60 Minutes is such a grown-up thing. I don't know about you listening, but... I'm 40 years old, and when I watch 60 Minutes, I still feel like I'm a dad. That makes me feel very old. There's certain things that are just grown up. Remember when you were a kid and you'd hear it come on? You'd hear the tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. That's how my dad did. Your dad's watching, and you're like, you're so lame. Boring. Once I heard that, I knew it was the end of the weekend. Yeah. No! That's true. But anyway, he's going to be on 60 Minutes, and he's going to be talking about the...
You know, Osama bin Laden stuff. We have a clip of it, and he explains on this clip why he did the burial at sea. Oh, boy. And, you know, a lot of people are upset about it. Now, we've heard that it was a very dignified burial at sea. One. Two. Three. Cannonball. Yeah. I don't know what they mean by dignified. Like what? Like they did a salute before he went? They didn't. Makes my stomach turn. How was it dignified? I heard it made a big splash. It bounced off the diving board. Yeah. I mean, I don't know how it could have been, how they're describing it as dignified. There he is. There he goes. I give him a 10 for no splash. There you go. And you're a tough East German judge. That's great. Cannonball! You gotta go straight in to get that kind of thing. That's right. And he did. He barely made a splash. So anyway, we'll play that for you when we come back. Lots of stuff to talk about with what we were up to yesterday. May have gotten a mani-pedi. Really. To make some noise with our live studio audience.

Okay, so this was just released. It's one clip. They didn't want to release a lot because it's so sensational. But President Obama is going to be on 60 Minutes this weekend. And here is a clip of him about the burial at sea. It was a joint decision. We thought it was important to think through ahead of time how we would dispose of the body if he were killed in the compound. And I think that... What we tried to do was consulting with experts in Islamic law and ritual to find something that was appropriate, that was respectful of the body. Frankly, we took more care on this than, obviously, bin Laden took when he killed 3,000 people. He didn't have much regard for it. how they were treated and desecrated. But that, again, is something that makes us different. And I think we handled it appropriately. He sure does sound like a dad. Man, when he puts it like that, it makes sense to me now. He's a very appropriate father. You have to be very appropriate when you're president. That's the deal. You have to. That's why he quit smoking. So Jay could never be president. Never.
Zero percent chance. I made some joint decisions before. Oh, boy. Doobies don't count. Should I eat the brownie or the Twinkie? What? I've made some joint decisions before. Like while I've been on a joint. I was high on a joint. Get it? Y'all get it? I smoke marijuana. You ever listen to the Doobie Brothers? You ever mow? You ever pick weeds? You ever sit on the pot? You ever ask Mary Jane to come over? Oh, wow. That's our friend Jay. That is our Uncle Jay. Had the day off yesterday because Uncle Jay and Woods had to do something yesterday that shall remain unnamed until we can name it. And so I had, yeah, I asked my wife yesterday because I got to sleep in until 6 a.m. And I know, got up and...
My wife was busy doing stuff, and our nanny didn't show up to work. She just didn't show up. No call, no show? Well, her phone, she had accidentally washed her phone at our house a couple days before. And so, anyway, Rebecca's running around, and I said I had to run some errands, too. And so I took a photograph of one of my errands, and I sent it to her by text. And the errand was me with about 30, 40 Asian women getting a manicure and a pedicure. Poor thing. Yeah. Happy birthday. So Rebecca was running around the house doing stuff. No, she was out. Oh, with the kids. The Target and stuff. You had to make big decisions like, do you want a flower? Do you not want a flower? Put it on your toenail? Enchilada on my toenail. That would obviously be feminine. Right. Obviously. Obviously I didn't do that. If I put a flower on my toenail, that would be effeminate. You want a flower? Yeah. You want a flower? You want glitter? Hey, baby. Do Asian ladies ever giggle? Yeah, when they have you in the chair. Oh, my gosh. Asian ladies ever giggle secretly? At you. Of course. Yeah, absolutely. It's not really secret, though. I know it isn't, but they're saying something in Vietnamese. I asked her where she was from. She said Vietnam.
And every once in a while, they would come really close to each other. And they would go, That's got to be a new app on the iPhone. Oh, yes. Put it up to what someone's saying and translate it. It's like Shazam. Thank you. But for when you get a manicure and pedicure. Right. And I look at my phone and it says, Have you ever seen a bigger person? Question mark. It says his feet smell like Frito. And vinegar. Have you seen the movie Star Wars? I think he was in it. Then, strangely enough, it says, weren't the first three Star Wars movies the best? I agree. I agree. Yeah. One of them spoke really good English. The other one, not so much. The one that didn't speak good English was the one operating my feet. I was thinking about this yesterday. I've come to the point in my 40-year-oldness, which I'm about to be 41, I would never have admitted publicly or otherwise that I occasionally enjoy a manicure and a pedicure. You know how I know you're gay? All right, that's fine. Fine. Okay, fine. But I'm going to tell you this.
This is a relaxing thing. Now, out of insecurity, I asked the woman yesterday, do a lot of men do this? I said, and she goes, oh, yeah. More than likely. All right. She said, especially Sunday. And I said, really? She said, yeah, they go back to work. They want to get ready for what? The feet models or foot models? Hello. Can I pull the curtain back? Absolutely. Woods asked if we could go get pedicures a couple days ago. True story. What? Dude. You guys are tough. Yeah. Look at that gnarled. Ew. Just cut them. It's gnarled. It's called Juergens. Let me see. They're gnarled, dude. His heel is cracked. They're gnarled. My heels are all cracked. I need somebody to go to town on them. I just saw the bottom of Frodo's foot. Yeah. I mean, these are manly feet. That happened on the way to Mordor. Yes. These are manly feet.
There's still some remnants of the nail polish I put on there a few weeks ago. That is true. They are very manly feet. But, hey, I don't have a problem with mani-pedis. I mean, pedis I don't have a problem with. I think that the term for L.O.B., for Lauren O'Brien, I think that the term is obsessive-compulsive. But you tell me. You tell me, L.O.B. L.O.B. finally brought her suitcase in from her trip to Hawaii. Which, by the way, was in the first week of April. Okay? Now, she just brought it inside. You wonder why? The reason why? Because she had a fear that there were bed bugs in it. Okay? Oh, my God. Yeah. Now, she went to the island of Kauai and came back. Now, she feels that because of the extreme heat that we've been having lately, And because of the sun hitting it directly, she believes that the bedbugs should be dead by now. And then she put in all caps, I think. Okay, so she's pretty sure, but not 100% sure. Crazy. Smart. Yes, thank you. Smart. She washed and dried every other piece of fabric that she brought with her. And she is, quote,
Keeping her fingers crossed. Now, L.O.B., what brought you to the point where you were like, okay, now it can come in? Because it's starting to fade in the sun. Or does she have kept it out there longer? For a year. Yeah. It's like a purplish color. Oh, wow. And it's starting to fade. And I was like, huh, well. They've probably been cooked by now. Yeah, they're dead. Oh, I'm terrified, though. I brought it in with trembling hands. Oh, wow. A month later. What is that? Is that obsessive-compulsive? Paranoia. Paranoia. It's paranoia. I read all about it. So I washed and dried. I took everything. Put my suitcase outside. Yeah. Brought a garbage bag outside. Put everything, including purses, towels, my little pillow that I brought. Right. Put everything that was a textile. And I, like, ran inside with it. I put it and nuked it in the dryer. Then I washed it. Then I nuked it again. Oh, my gosh. So they can survive extreme temperatures. That's, you know, they live in tropical environments. But I thought because of where it was sitting outside, it gets, like, half the day. It gets baked. Yeah. So I'm thinking that, you know, if they were alive.
Hopefully they're dead by now. Hey, listen. Maybe she's crazy, but at least she doesn't have bed bugs. You know that for sure. Fair enough. Fine. She don't have bed bugs. You should have seen the syphilis motel that Jay booked us into the other night that we stayed in. Syphilis in the room. I'm not kidding. Yeah. Woods was like, he texted me and said he thought there was syphilis on the doorknob. Jay is the cheapest person alive. No question. There's no question about it. And he goes. They had to do some traveling. They had to travel together, Woods and Jay. And so I said, where are you guys staying? And Woods started to say something, and Jay cuts him off, and he goes, the Travelodge, all right? The Travelodge. And I go, whoa, whoa. Why so defensive? And you could see the look on Woods' face like Woods was sickened that they had to stay there, but it was Jay's, you know, there was no way that they were not going to stay there. Mikey, don't put ideas in his head. Some fancy place like a Motel 6. That's what he said. That's exactly what he said. It was nice. It was very nice and clean. Oh, my gosh. It was an S-hole, dude. He sent me pictures. The room with a view? Yeah, he sent me a picture that said we have to post the picture online. There was no other place to stay that was... Yes, there was. Really? Did you see it? Where we were going, we could have stayed anywhere. It would have been fine. We made it about 30 minutes early to the place we were going.
Which is good, opposed to 30 minutes late. I ain't going to pay $30 a night for some hotel just because it's fancy. A $30 a night is fancy, and I ain't paying for some fancy place. I ain't paying for some. I can get from my truck. That's right. I would have slept in my truck. No problem. I laid in that bed that night and was like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I slept like a baby. Oh, my God. Oh, then 1 o'clock in the morning? Yeah. The people next door? Yeah. Sounded like they were filming an adult film. Oh, my gosh. Mikey, I've been known to exaggerate. I'm not exaggerating. This is what I woke up to. Oh, wow, wow, wow, wow. Against the back of the door? Against the back of my headboard. And I go. Oh, my gosh. I'm laying there. I go. Hey! As hard as I could. I almost put my hand through the wall. Did they show? No. And then you hear. Hey, look. I'm watching my talkies. Hey.
Why don't you keep your eyes on your own piper? Baby, go over there and skin him. I'm fixing to skin something else and I ain't going to go over there. Ew. Give some of my skin pie. Hey, why don't you just keep it quiet over there, buddy? Why don't you keep it quiet, you hayseed? Because I'm busy. I can hear. Hey, you mind your own business. I'm a married man. Maybe go to the bathroom. Baby, shut your lips. Yeah, my wife says maybe shut. Hey, baby, don't tell him to shut his lips. What y'all say? Tell him to keep his trap shut. Keep your trap shut. Yeah, keep your trap shut. Before I shut it for you. That's my baby talking right there. It was unbelievable. Wood sent a text message photo that said a room with a view. And it was the view from his window. It was the most. macabre morbid dry looking landscape slash dump yard it looked like it looked like a combination of a wildfire risk and a junkyard and a lumber yard and i thought to myself the first thing that came to my mind was jay yeah it's perfect we get to the
We get to the counter to pay. They're like, it's on the house. Don't worry. First of all, they had a credit card. The kind that you put, you lay it down. We had to fill out a piece of paper. She goes, are you guys paying together or separate? He goes, separate, separate. Yes, yes. Separate. Separate. How dare you ask that? Hey, don't turn on the same bell. Hit me out here. Am I made of money? Am I made of money? Hit me out. Do I have trees in my yard that are growing money? Dude, it was. They're like, sir, this is a stone tablet credit card. And it just says one. Jay has no one. That's his credit card number. His credit card number is one. Yes, I was the first one to ever have it. So what? Simi. Sorry. Member since BC. Oh, man. You walked in and you're like.
It smelled like a bathhouse. It did not. Dude, it was so skeevy. Trust me, I know what a bathhouse meant. We did walk out at 4.30 in the morning, and there was a lady outside smoking all nervous. All cracked out of her mind. I was like, wow. Was the TV black and white? No, but it was terrible. It was a terrible experience. Did it even have cable? It had cable, yeah. So gross. Yeah, it's fancy. Perfect. Jay went to yoga with Kim, and this was not yesterday. This was the day before. And they get in there late, and there's a spot that they like by the door, but it was taken. And so Jay's wife, Kim, asked if he wanted to go over to the other end of the room. He said, nah, he's fine where he was. Well, right after that, a girl in a small bikini came into the class. and went to the other end of the room. And Kim leaned over and said, I bet you wish we'd be over there now. Great. That girl knows me. Question, Jay. Women wear bikinis to yoga? Apparently this girl did. You do yoga, right? Yeah, hot yoga. A lot of people. Almost all the men. Easy. We get it. You're attractive. Yes, we get it. We understand. You don't have to point it out.
Almost all the men wear just, like, board shorts. And the women will wear a bikini? The brave women will wear a bikini. Or, like, a sports bra and little tiny shorts. Oh. I'm not among the brave. FYI. Oh. Yes. Go on. Sports bra. Boa shorts. Limber. That's right. Champion brand. Jiggle. Uniboob. So, why would a woman wear a bikini to a yoga class? That seems so unusual. It's freeing. Oh, wow. You get soaking wet. Oh, soaking wet. You just dripped. Do they have a person that comes in and takes care of that? Yeah, they come in and clean the floors. With a mop? Probably smells like the Travel Lodge. Well, you have your own towel and you have your own mat. Are you supposed to wipe up your sweat with your towel? My towel catches most of mine.
Gross. Unless the person in front of you's foot comes back over your mat and is like dripping on your mat. That's hideous. My face is going to go there in a minute. That's hideous. You sweat so much that I did a couple times I couldn't handle the sweat when you're like bent over downwards and sweat would be going up my nose because I was upside down. And I would have to wipe my nose because I couldn't handle it. And they said, if you can't handle the sweat, you shouldn't do the class. I was like, I'm sorry, I don't want sweat in my nose. I wouldn't do the class. It's bacteria filled for sure. And I'm not even like a germ guy, but that's pretty germy. I'm getting worse with my germ thing. I'm becoming germy. Well, dude. As you drink my Coke with the dip in. That's true. You drank his Coke? Yeah. That's a true story. Had to snuff in my mouth. Did you drink from it after that, Jay? Absolutely. I don't want to waste it. Did you taste his? I got a little bit of dip. Oh. Oh, wow. Oh, you know, Jay almost got arrested yesterday, by the way. Why? I'll tell you that. Why? For public urination.
Again. Jay. Again. Public urination. Jay, there is indoor plumbing, you know. We couldn't find it anywhere. We were trying to get through traffic, coming home, and the gas station we pulled over at, it just said in use. It said in use, like there was somebody in there. So what am I supposed to do? I was desperate. He was. He was holding it. Okay, okay, okay, okay. And so I go ask the guy, and he comes out, and he's like, no, it's broken. It is broken, sir. Is it broken? Is it? So then I walked over, and there's a little tree, and I hid down behind the bush. He was beating on the window. The guy inside was beating on the window. You get away from here. Move your car. Are you serious? I'm not kidding. He had video cameras everywhere. He had video cameras. But you couldn't really see me, so I was hidden pretty well. I have a pistol, and I will first pistol whip you, okay? Then I will call police, and then I will shoot you. Bring it. I had a story ready to go. He already had a story planned. Officer, I'm diabetic. There ain't nothing I can do, all right? That's not it. You want me to pee my pants? I'm old. Look at me. I'm 100 years old. I would have said that I was going to vomit and that I went over and that's vomit. You can't prove that it was. Until they saw the urine that was sitting there. You can't prove it. It's just, what are they going to do, take a sample? You can't.
Prove it? Yeah, you can't prove it. I beg to differ. I think you can prove it. How? Well, I think one's urine. Yeah, one's urine, one's vomit. Are they going to sample it? They're going to ask me, he's like, did you go to the bathroom? I don't think you have to. You can do an eye test. I can say I threw up. I threw up urine. Fine. It's no big deal. I've been drinking a lot of fluid. I've been drinking a lot of urine. It's no big deal. I'm sorry. All right. Sue me. Sue me. Hey, officer, you ain't going to hurt my feelings if you think my urine's made of gold. He was beating on the window. Move your car. Get away from here. I was like, oh, God. I stayed and got gas after that. I was like, I'm not moving my car. Forget you. I'm getting gas. It was awesome. When we come back, we're going to play Bag Tag. Perfect. Now, I forgot. Does Bag Tag have contestants or no? No, it's just pain. It's pain for us. So we'll do Bag Tag. Oh, this hurts. You guys hear about the lady that woke up from surgery and had a British accent? I'll tell you all about it. Make some noise. Let's do it.
All right, so we are going to play for you in just a moment. This woman that woke up from surgery and has a British accent. Let's make some noise in the studio. We got a live studio audience in here with us this morning. And Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, would you like to know about Osama bin Laden's will? Yes. Well, it was reported that on Tuesday, his will, which was marked private and confidential, it was dated the 14th of December, 2001, three months after the 9-11 attacks, and basically says that his children must not join Al-Qaeda. Five wives cannot remarry. These are his wishes. And that his children, he asked his children to forgive him for not spending enough time with him. You know, this is something that a lot of fathers go through. You're busy with work, you know. It is a thing where your work begins to consume you and it begins to become your life. And your wife is constantly saying to you, listen, you have a family too, you know. And it was to the point where.
On the weekend, you know, what I want to do is watch the jet game, you know, but my wife is like, listen, mister, you're not going to do your thing all week long and then think on Sunday, it's just happy birthday, I'm going to watch the jet game. It's not like that, you know. Daddy, you play baseball with me. I can't right now, son. I want to. Weird, weird. But the deal, son, I'm looking out for you. Are you? I'm trying to make a good life for you. Are you? Hey, listen. You know I love you. Do you? Who is my favorite? Me. That's right. That's right. Also, do you remember hearing the story about 10 dogs and a cat that were poisoned and killed? Well, there is a woman who is under investigation right now. She lives in the El Rey Trailer Plaza. Her name is Alma Bernardino. She is not under arrest at this point, but there was video surveillance video from a neighbor of the mobile complex that was submitted to the police, and it was...
They described the woman on the video matching her. They went into her home and found a bunch of different poison things like bug and insect killer, snail and slug killer pellets, and lime deposit remover, which could easily kill a dog or a cat. I would not have thought it was a woman. Death penalty. Have her eat some of that. She's not under arrest right now. They still need a little bit more evidence. Her husband, however, is saying, no, it's not her, it's not her, it's not her. All signs point to yes, and we'll find out more about that. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Sports is brought to us today by Frank's Red Hot. Frank's Red Hot. Get some! I'm going to give you what you want. Tonight, the Padres take on the Diamondbacks at 7.05. It's Armando Galarraga and Tim Stauffer at Petco Park. It's Beer Fest tonight, too, so let me you guys grab a cab. Grab a cab if you're going to go down and party at Petco. You know, I'm excited for the NFL again. The draft really got me back into the spirit. And A.J. Smith is another guy that's very excited about the draft. He's the Chargers general manager. And on a conference call to about 3,500 season ticket holders, he told them, listen, stay the course. I'm very excited about the draft. A lot of people were upset that the draft was mostly special teams. Here he is addressing that. Cut one. I'm playing it.
I don't know why it isn't playing. Yeah, we've always had an emphasis in the past, but we have upped that baby this year. Not very happy with what happened last year. Unacceptable. We have a new special teams coach. And there's been a heavy emphasis on a lot of the players that came in here. And we think they're going to contribute immediately in that area while they wait their turn to perform. And some of them may, in fact, be playing a lot of football, too. Absolutely. Listen, the second, I mean the moment that that collective bargaining agreement is done and signed, I will be on full tilt excitement for NFL. I'm right there. I'm starting to get, and you're getting me excited, Woodsy. I'm right there. Oh, boy. You know I'm an excitable, impressionable young man. So the draft got me all the way back in. So I'm reading more and I'm watching and I'm like, Yeah, but still got to get the deal done. Still got to hammer that deal out. It's lame sauce. Get it done now. If they don't, then you're going to lose probably half the fans. Yeah. And it's hard to get them back. It is. Once you do your thing, it's hard to get them back. Ask baseball how that went for them. It's true. Let's see. Okay, so listen to this story of this woman that is from Oregon that wakes up after having surgery with a British accent. Any conversation with Karen Butler?
Get that under your belt. Inevitably leads to the same question. Where are you from? Where did you get that accent? Wait, it's Irish. The answer is Newport, Oregon. A tiny picturesque coastal community two and a half hours outside of Portland. In this small beach town where it seems like just about everyone knows one another, Karen can't even open her mouth before inviting a lot of questions. You tell them I got it from here. From here, Oregon. They think I say Ireland, but I'm saying Oregon. Karen says her accent has its roots here, at her dentist's office. A year and a half ago, she underwent oral surgery and was given a sedative. So I went to sleep, and when I woke up, I did not sound like myself. Karen's oral surgeon... The medication was called Britre... Didn't want to speak on Karen. But he did confirm when Karen woke up, she was speaking differently. Listen to Karen's voice on this home video before surgery. This is the Karen everyone knew. The familiar voice of a wife, mother and friend.
But when Karen came home from surgery, no one could believe their ears. Can you say... Here, I've got a couple of words I'd like you to say, if you don't mind. Can you say the phrase, looking for attention? Can you say that one? Can you see... desperately needing people to pay attention. I can say the phrase, I've listened to every accent I've ever heard and made some sort of melding of all of them, really. Is that something you want me to say? Can you say Turkish while saying Irish? Can you say Southern mixed with a little bit of British? Yes. Can you say Portland, Oregon with just a tad of hackneyed? Can you say what I did today will be different than what I do tomorrow? How much different will it be? It's really up to me. Don't you know? Don't you know? I forgot. Oh, yeah. I forgot to add Wisconsin in there. Don't you know? It's a lot of fun.
Even though I had fun. So Karen has an extremely unusual neurologic condition that's called foreign accent syndrome. Oh, wow. Made up. Very unusual name. Can you explain that? I mean, that must be some sort of medical term. Foreign accent syndrome. I mean, I don't quite get it. That must be some sort of real technical talk. Oh, I believe Madonna suffered from it as well. She did. When she married all that bloke. Yeah, what's his name? Guy Ritchie. Guy Ritchie, right. Can you say a fake bit? Yeah, can you say... Can you say Gwyneth Paltrow at all? Because when she married Chris Martin, I think she started to do a little of it too. It's gone foreign actress syndrome as well. Not just foreign accent, but foreign actress. Ted Lowenkopf is a neurologist who says the syndrome is triggered by a stroke or trauma to the brain. Or a lack of interest from one's husband. Or general boredom in a town that nobody's heard of.
When you've got all those things working together, sometimes you come up with this syndrome. I thought all the vampires were getting too much attention. Let's get us back on the map. Let's get another reason to pay attention to Oregon. Besides all the Draculas running around in the Twilight films. Karen, he's met with her before and says her speech may have been altered during oral surgery. It's so rare, less than 100 cases ever reported, that the average neurologist, even a stroke neurologist, would not see a case in their lifetime. Karen... Hi, how you doing? My name is Ben Stevens, stroke neurologist. How are you? Says for months, doctors were baffled by her medical mystery, and so was everyone else. Hi, good morning. How are you? Even now, after a year and a half with the act... I believe her. Do you? Yes. I've heard of this before, and we've done other stories about this. And this woman's like 60, she sounds. She's not just all of a sudden going to change it. You think it's tough to be her kid?
Yeah, but she can't. I don't think she can help it. Mom. Cured it with my brain. Mom, I'm not kidding. It's freaking prom. When we go in there, don't talk. I'm just going to take some pictures. Mom. What? Don't. What's the problem? He's my boyfriend. I mean, he's going to freak out. I went to your brother's prom. Took plenty of photos. Mom. What? Don't. Okay, is this better? Stop it! Why? I'm just being myself. Just take the picture, Mom. Everyone see cheese, will ya? Mom! You too, little Joey. Come here. He didn't know you were weird, Mom. What's weird? He didn't know you were the mom that speaks British. I'm not British. Whatever you are. Stop it. How embarrassing. Why does my mom have to be British-Scottish Irish? Busier than old Gettite. Karen Gettite. Busier than old Gettite. It's questions, but also admiration. I think it's really cool, actually. Like, I wouldn't mind waking up with, like, a cool accent someday.
But that would be very different from this woman because this is not a cool accent. That's true. From an ocean away. No, the big long way. A new voice that seems to suit Karen Butler and her family just fine. For today, Miguel Almaguer, NBC News, Newport, Oregon. I'm not embarrassed of my mom at all. I think she's quite lovely. I did too. Yeah, I did too. Figured out a way to finally get dad to pay attention. Before this, all he did is come home, check his stocks, go to bed, maybe have a brandy. Now, though, he's got to pay attention because he's got a 20-minute drive to the psychologist's office with me. So I do Tuesdays. Mother does Thursdays, the psychologist. And so on the drive over, you know, it's my opportunity to go, well, Dad, maybe you teach me a little bat ball, eh? I say top of the morning, Dad. Top of the morning, Dad. First time I've talked to you in a week. It's always working or got something else going on this weekend. Maybe you want swamp people or something. Maybe we do it together. Maybe we go in the backyard, you throw one freaking baseball to me and buy me a glove, eh? Throw a ball, see what happens to my accent. And maybe the accent goes away, Pop. 570-1949 is our number.
And M1 Art is on the line. He's from Oceanside. What was the word of the day? That is correct. Hopefully he will never say that word ever again. Lame sauce was the word of the day. You just got yourself four pack of tickets to SeaWorld and a $50 gift card. Hang on the line, okay? Thank you. All right, hang on. M1 Cave Dweller from Wisconsin, what's going on? Killing me. We actually studied this foreign accent syndrome a couple of days ago. And it's not like you pick up a foreign accent. Wait, wait, Cave Dweller. Studied it where? What? In what? FAS School. Foreign Accent Syndrome. Yes, Foreign Accent Syndrome. FASS. FASS. In my biopsychology course. Got it. And it's an actual neurological disorder. She may have suffered some kind of brain damage from the sedation that they use. Yeah. And what happens is you develop a difficulty in planning and coordinating.
what you want to say. And so it sounds like you have an accent. Maybe Jay has that. Maybe Jay has it. Jay, are you going to get you to the doctor, pal? I don't know what you're saying. Jay's got FOSS. Jay has FOSS. It's called FOSS. Now, I always used to use that word in terms of running. I would say, oh my gosh, that girl can run really fast. But it turns out it also stands for foreign accent syndrome or something. I got it. That's right. It's Garibushi. It's called FAS. It's foreign accent syndrome. Something. I got it, too. I got it, too. It's called FAS. Garibushi. Garibushi. Well, Cave Dweller, thank you for the information. We didn't know about that thing. Thanks for shedding some light on Jay's FAS. Does that mean everyone in Ireland has FAS? That's right. Can you imagine somebody in Ireland wakes up, they speak with an American accent. Hey, how you doing? Boston. Good morning. Hey, how you doing? They wake up from their surgery and they go, hi, I don't know what happened. I just went to sleep, woke up, everything feels normal, but, oh my gosh, what's wrong with it? Do you want to go get a pint down at the pub? Oh my goodness, son, what's happened to you? Let's go watch the soccer match. Oh no. Yeah, top of the morning to you.
This is bloody stupid. This is bloody stupid. 570-1949 is our number. If you want to give us a call, you want to play some bag tag? Absolutely. All right. The way that we do bag tag is we have the girls share a paddle and the guys come in the room and they will get... Now, they invented this game. Woods and Jay. Woods and Jay invented this game. It's called bag tag. And they take a one-pound rubber ball. They stand approximately 10 feet away from each other. They get one bounce. You guys are in the danger zone. Seriously, if you're behind Jay, be ready to block this one-pound ball. Now, here's the deal. The object of bag tag is to not flinch. So it is Jay. And Woods' job to not flinch. If they flinch, then the girl standing behind them will whack them with a paddle. Lauren is behind Woods, and Sienna is behind Jay. Are you ready? I'm ready. Jay's starting. Here we go. Here we go. First bounce. Oh, yeah, Woods. Great job. Didn't flinch. She hit me anyway. You've got to hit him hard. You're a softie. That was a tiny swat. He got me direct hit. Did he? Yeah. All right, here we go.
One bounce. It's already a little sore. They get five. Oh! Oh, wow. Oh, not only a flinch, but a direct hit, too. Ready? Here we go. That's it. Okay, okay, okay. I'm in it. All right, here we go. It's Jay's turn. Got yelled at last time. It's Jay's turn. One bounce. Oh, wow, Woods. Didn't flinch at all. He doesn't look. Here comes Woods. Oh, there's Kate. One bounce, and then... Oh! Woods is so good at it. He hit him directly on the nard. Here we go. One bounce. No flinch. No flinch. There was no flinch. Woods, you get two more. You get two more, Woods. One pound rubber ball. Here comes. He's psyching him out. There's the bounce. Hit him in the thigh. No flinch. Second to last, Jay. No flinch.
No flinch. Terrible shot. Last one, Woods. Last one. Well, I'm hurt. Here we go. Legs spread on Jay. One bounce. Gosh. Oh, he flinched hard. Oh, he flinched hard. It was a terrible throw, too. And Sienna takes a swat. One, two, three. Oh, my. I think I got none of these. I think you still get one more, Jay. One more. Here we go. Here we go. Flinch. It's a flinch. It's a flinch. Terrible throw, too. You better get in there. L.O.B. Let him have it, L-O-B. Don't listen to Woods. Oh, nice one. Nice one. Nice one. That's it. It's good. Oh, I'm so sore there anyway. Thank you. 570-1949. It's just insult to injury. Woods asked Jay to massage his hind end. My buttocks. Might have hurt myself a little bit. In a non-clinical way. It was clinical. It was kind of clinical. It was clinical and creepy. He's real good at it. All right. Thank you. Let's leave it at that. He is. I know. It felt good. Okay. I got you the first time. It felt real good. All right. All right. Thank you. Let's see. Pakistani president is obviously coming under some attack right now because we're saying, how did you not know that bin Laden was living there?
How did you not know? He had to have known. And here's what he said. He was as surprised and shocked as anybody else in the world. Of course, he was being searched everywhere, in the caves, in the mountains, in Afghanistan, not for the rest of town. And I think we need to unravel this mystery. How did he find his way? We forgot to look in the only mansion in Pakistan. We just thought, I don't know, maybe some big star, Ben Affleck, has summer home here. Well, I had heard Spielberg bought a place just to stay if he was ever doing a film there, you know? And I don't know. What am I supposed to do? How has this suddenly become about me? I didn't do anything wrong. This is not about me.
When we come back, Woods is going to find out about something live on the radio. Oh, is that a fact? Yes. What? You'll find out live on the radio. It will thrill and delight every M1. M1s are Mikey Show listeners. It will thrill and delight every M1 listening. It has to do with Sienna and something that Sienna sent me yesterday via email. What the hell are you talking about? Brought to you, of course, by Joe Roper's Surfboard Repair and Restoration Services. Available right down the road on Marina Boulevard. Today, under overcast skies, at least in the morning, and some haze, we've got some small south-southwesterly swell combination. It's the primary source of energy. A little bit of a background northwest winds well. pretty much the same scenario as what we've seen over the last few days. Maybe just a quarter notch up in size. Looking at needle waist high surf on average with that rare plus on top of that at the standout areas most open to the dominant southwest swell direction. We do have a low tide at dawn this morning, so that is hurting size and shape at all areas. Expect some slight improvement throughout the day as that tide fills in. Overcast skies to be sure this morning, but not a lot of wind, so generally glassy surface conditions. And as the tide fills in, some improvement throughout the day, and the sun is expected to show back up as well. So not a bad way to start the weekend. I will always say that. Liberals drive me nuts because of how conservative I am. Lauren. Yeah, you call me thrifty. I call me smart. Cheap. Woods. I was kind of the class clown in high school, if you guys can imagine. Zienna. My biggest pet peeve is when people go... When they chill. Ah, it drives me nuts. And Jay. I'm a salt aficionado. On FM 94.9. I need a minute. No. Oh, it's great. Who is it? It's Michael Johnson. The track star? No. The old pop singer that died. I don't know that he died. You just wore the red jacket to the moonwalk? No, that was Michael Jackson. Oh.
Oh, yeah, I know that. Yeah. L.O.B., you know this one? Mm-hmm. Sienna. Chances Sienna knows this. Zero. Zero percent. Negative. Have you ever heard it, Sienna? No. In your life? Never. Does it even resemble a song that you've ever heard? Not one. My wife, same thing. My wife right now, I know, is going to never heard it in my life. We're going to tell Woodsy. Yeah, what's this bit about? Sienna disappeared during the break. for the whole time. I don't know what she was doing. Well, I can tell you what she was doing, what she's been doing. First, I've got to fill people in that don't know the background. Do you guys remember a couple of weeks ago when Woods left the studio and when he came back, his hat was missing? Do you remember? My hat. Where's my hat? Did I get it back? Woods wears what you call a newsboy hat. He did.
Yeah, he did sometimes. Yeah, there's a guy in the studio wearing that. Yeah, me, you, and Brad Pitt, brother. Well... I didn't like the hat on Woods. And not only because I didn't like it, I felt it was unlucky. Woods turned into a bit of a cyclone when he wore it. At one point, you actually took the hat and threw it in the garbage yourself because you knew that it was bad luck. And so I felt, as your friend, and the good of the show, that I needed to take it from you. Against my will. Yeah, to prevent bad luck from happening. People don't realize. Sienna kind of keeps the train on the rails, and she recognized very early on and warned me. And I said, no, it's fine. She's also the fashion police. Well, and I'm very superstitious. You all know this. That's true. Very. And so I felt alarmed when this hat entered our lives. I don't blame her. Why? She stole. I thought you were against stealing. I didn't steal. She didn't steal. Borrowed. Stole? No, she didn't steal. Fine. Stold.
As Mike would say. Don't confuse him. So, Sienna sends me three photographs yesterday. I think there were five. Did you burn it? Woods. Yes. I am now going to, live on the radio, show you the whereabouts of your hat. And then we're going to post it online. What is this, Carmen Sandiego? What's the deal? I needed to get the hat as far away from us as possible. Oh, my God. First photograph. Oh, my God. First photograph. The first photograph is his hat in front of the CBS Studios in New York City. Here's a picture of the hat next to the play Spider-Man on Broadway. Wow, your hat is famous. Yeah. And then finally, a photo of the hat in front of the New York Times building in Manhattan. Oh, my gosh. It belongs somewhere else.
Maybe someone else will find luck with it. How great is that? My hat was at Letterman. Yes. I have a friend that lives over there and I said, look, I need you to take this from me. That's incredible. And I need to show you. You're forgiven because that's brilliant. You're forgiven. That's brilliant. I can't. There's nothing I can say. And I knew that when you found out, you wouldn't begrudge her of the most perfect thing. It's brilliant. I'm very superstitious. If that hat is unlucky. Tell her to keep it away from the Bronx and Yankee Stadium for me, please. She said she doesn't want it because she's worried about it. So we're going to continue to send it on its way. Where's it going next? Well, should I announce where it's going next? Well, we were talking about it because Sienna's going to Venezuela? Argentina. She's got to go for a wedding. Her friend's in a wedding. Not for a while. This is like Flat Stanley. Do you guys know what Flat Stanleys are? Nuh-uh. I see it all the time. It's something the elementary school kids do, Mike. And they have this paper cutout of this man called Flat Stanley. And if you have a family member that travels a lot, the person that has the most exotic locations with the picture of their Flat Stanley wins a prize in school. So my hat is a little Flat Stanley. I'm in. It's a traveling hat. It's a traveling hat. All the way on board. Let's see how far we can get it. I know. This is what I'd like to do.
I would like to bring it at some point we'll bring it back to San Diego. Yeah. But then we're going to start asking M1s that are traveling abroad to let us know when they're traveling because I want pictures of the hat at the Eiffel Tower. Yeah. All the way in. I'm all the way in. You're totally forgiven. Great Wall of China. You're totally forgiven. Oh my God. Can you imagine a picture of that hat at the Great Wall of China? Let's see it on President Obama. You want to impress me? He's like, I don't know what this is, but Michelle has asked me to wear this hat. That would be the greatest thing ever. Or a celebrity. Maybe you know a celebrity. Get a celebrity to wear the hat. Please. Go to Facebook.com slash Mikey show right now, and you will be able to see a picture of the hat in front of The Late Show with David Letterman. That's incredible. I knew you knew I had it. I had a gut feeling. But I knew you wouldn't permanently be mad at me. No, I can't be mad at that. If I was mad at that, it would be a huge D. Come on. That's brilliant. I love it. All right. Let's see who is mad at this. 570-1949 is the number.
And the email is, Mikey, my seven-year-old son just had a science fair and he took great pride in his mold experiment. The old mold bit. I attended the fair and I couldn't believe the projects and displays these kids had. They were obviously made by their parents. This is basically telling your kid to cheat. No. How despicable are these people? Oh, wow. It's part of the learning process and it makes my kids work look worse. Well, this is, by the way, thank you M1 Mark. This is what I'll say. I think that the word despicable is a little bit of an overreaction. Excessive. It's an excessive word. But I agree with him that you should help your kid, but you shouldn't. be doing the project for your kid. And that is showing them something bad. But I'm totally open to discussing. Yeah, well, you don't do it for them, but you do it with them, and it's obviously going to make it better. I mean, if you just leave them on their own and get, hey, good luck to you. I hope that thing comes out great. No way. You get in there and teach them and show them. It's a great learning experience with your kids. Of course. But what it sounds like here is, well, he says himself, they were obviously made by their parents.
I have to give LOB credit. She did one of the worst science projects in the history. Ladies and gentlemen, the history of children. Oh, yeah. Okay. Dating back to the very first child ever. Okay. Cain and Abel didn't make a worse science project. The science project that LOB did was sort of a... And this was before exercise bands were even invented. She took a garbage bag, just a regular garbage bag, and cut it into a strip and then put her hands in the middle of it and said, look, it's a resistance band. I also did another one before that. I have a picture on Facebook where we had to make robots. out of stuff around the house and I used like beer boxes I used
Cookies for eyes. Now that's cool. I used a old leprechaun hat that my dad had from St. Patrick's Day. Like whatever I found in the garage. That's the spirit? Yeah. And then I have it on Facebook. I'll post it. And then the kids next to me had like the hoses from the back of a dryer, like working parts, all this stuff. And I was like, hey. Yeah, that's because 57-year-old Ben put it together. Mr. Johnson. Nothing wrong with helping your kids. Nothing wrong with helping your kids. Something wrong with doing it for your kids. And you know, Jay, full well that there are parents that do that. I don't know any of them. Yes, you do. Is Mark Magnum PI? He doesn't know. He doesn't know. He doesn't know that they did it. And, okay, all right, let's take it down to the bottom line. Who gives a crap about the science fair your kid's in? Did he or did he not do his own project? He didn't. Okay, no, he did. His kid. Yeah, his kid. Why do you care what everybody else is? I'll tell you why, Woods. The reason that you care is because now your kid feels like your kid is a complete failure and loser and a complete dork. What's up to you as the dad to tell him, hey man, you did a great project. No, no, no.
What I got to do is, in order for my kid to not go in there completely humiliated and embarrassed because the other parents are making theirs, I got to cheat too? It's not cheating. It's helping. Please. What is it? A scholarship to Harvard? It's a science fair. Get over it. They're little kids. They're not in college. They're supposed to have their parents help. It's not like a thesis where he copied his thesis from an encyclopedia. This is like, oh, it's a science fair. 570-1949. Is it wrong to do this? When I was a kid, I was in Cub Scouts. I barely remember it. What I do remember is that I had a habit of losing my little scarf. Nothing's changed. How dare it? You can't isolate that. Why? Because it won't make sense out of context. Yes, it will. I was in Cub Scouts when I was a little kid, and I had a habit of losing my little scarf. That we can use. There you go. Little tiny scarf. Little scarf. So tiny. So little. Delicate. My scarf is tiny and small. So tiny and small. This is where you got the nickname Cubby, I take it? No. But my brother did call me Cubby. Still does. Because I worked at a radio station called K-Cub. Oh, right, right, right. And he would go, hey, K-Cubby. Good move.
I was a 19-year-old person when he did that. When I was a kid, I had a habit of losing the scarf. And my mom told me, if you lose that scarf again, you're going to get spanked. So I lost it again. And I had to stand against the dining room table like I was being interrogated and searched. And not like Sharon Stone, different type of interrogation. and every time she would go with the belt, I'd put my foot up, and she'd hit the back of my shoe. Brilliant. Yeah. One time in the Cub Scouts, we had a soapbox derby. Pinewood derby. You make little cars out of a block of wood. That's pinewood, yeah. Pinewood. Pinewood. I participated in 0% of the making of the car. That is to say, I did nothing in regard to the car. And the car won the grand prize, which was one of those big, giant lights that you press the rubber button down, and it takes those big, giant – what are those batteries called, Jay? The big square batteries. Oh, the six volts or something? Yeah. The big, yeah. The giant. Lantern batteries, lantern batteries. Like a lantern battery. That was the grand prize. A beautiful, brand new.
My brother Mark, my oldest brother, made the Pinewood car completely himself. In fact, he would be upset for me to tell you this, but he was annoyed when I would come around and bother him while he made it. Scram, kid. I'm making this for you. Get out of my face. Yeah, get out of here. You're bothering me. This is for men. And so what he did was he drilled two holes in the front of the Pinewood thing and he put bullets inside. Amazing. covered it with a dowel, sanded it, and painted it. And he didn't know that it was weighted down with bullets. And it won. Every time. I mean, it was far ahead of the competition. Brilliant. And then when I won the prize, he would neither take me to retrieve the prize or discuss it. And I never got it. And, you know, he just wanted the gratification of knowing, did it win? Good, good, good. And he didn't even pick up the prize. No, no. So it went to the second place person. And, you know, a few fat tears shed over that one. I'll tell you that much right now. For sure. Explains a lot. M1 Kirk from Oceanside. Go ahead. The kid, my dad was an electrician and he was going through school to become an electrician while working. And my best experience that I ever remember with my dad.
was we set up this huge circuit thing on a board, and it turned on and off lights, and the wires were running all over. And I have no clue what I placed in the science fair, but I remember that was the best experience of my life. They should just call it the dad project. Yeah, the mom and dad science fair. Yeah, and mom and dad compete. You know, all the different moms and dads. You don't even have to go. Mom and dad shows up, and it's, you know. Because that's what they turn into. They're an adult science experiment. I tell my kid, if I had a kid, I'd be like, hey, I don't really care how you do in the science fair, pal, at all. So I ain't helping? I'm not going to help you because I'm no good at it. And it's a science fair at the end of the day. Wow. It's a science fair. Your poor little kid. Starting young, huh? Maybe we get out to the baseball diamond. Oh, really? Maybe I'll teach you how to throw a slider. How dare you? Maybe I'll teach you how to throw a slider. That'll actually get you somewhere. It's a good fallback plan if that kid gets injured or anything like that. What? Learning how to make mold and potato growth? Doing well in school. Well, you can do well in school without being in science. I wouldn't have a clue. I wouldn't have a clue what to do with my child. Exactly. But I'd go online. I'd YouTube it. M1 Tony from Poway. Oh, hey, guys. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. You're in the eighth grade? Yes. You sound like a 34-year-old man.
What do you mean? How you doing, Mike? Yeah, I'm in the eighth grade, and I did this project with my dad. My dad didn't really know what to do, but... Hormones are having an effect on, you know, girls' boobs and guys' voices, you know? A little earlier now. Yeah, a little earlier now. I talk like this in the ninth grade. Yeah, me too. Hi. When I called in to radio shows in the eighth grade, I was like, hey, hi, how are you? Will you play Journey for me? Please? Dedicated to Amy? From Steve. Right. Tony from Poway is in the eighth grade. He's six foot four. Mustache. Yeah, mustache. For sure, mustache. Crustache. Yeah. The Raiders are taking a look at him. Go ahead, Tony. When I was in the fifth grade, we had to bring in some, like, paper mache, like, volcanoes. Uh-huh. And so I brought in, like, the silica one that I did, like, overnight. And then this other kid brought in this, like, giant volcano that, like, spewed, like, colored lava and stuff. That's awesome. Brandon. Right. Brandon Isbell. How dare you, Brandon. Let me guess. You used your chest hair to make some sort of a project that beat it. Is that your kid in the background? Screaming in your Camaro? Right. Dad! Sorry, man. Kid's calling. I gotta go. Yeah.
should not help their kids. There you go. Amen. Thank you very much, Tony. I appreciate that. You're welcome, Mike. No problem, pal. Good to talk to you. You take care. What kind of scotch do you like? Mike, sorry, don't mean to be bad memories, but what kind of scotch do you like? M1 Carly from Oceanside. Hey, good morning, guys. Good morning. Okay, so I think that the parents are able to help, but only to the point where it's needed. They shouldn't be doing the project for their kid. And I think that the kid doing it himself will help foster creativity and critical thinking and I guess a sense of satisfaction in getting it done himself. And that's just my opinion on it. I appreciate you. Sure. And that kid did his own project. You put blue eyes on him? Of course. A blue eye. A blue eye. A blue eye. A blue eye.
Sienna's about to come out of her skin with the blue eyes. She hates blue eyes. I don't hate this song. Why do you hate it? Why do you have that hat that says I hate blue eyes? Why do you have a button on that says I hate it? All you guys do during commercials are blue eyes. And it's like, get off. Why do you have an Obama sticker that says hope, but then under that it says blue eyes? I'm sorry if I offended you. I didn't know you were so sensitive. Thank you. Tom Tom Tunes right now. You want to play Tom Tom Tunes? Call us. 570-1949 is the number. And all you have to do is listen to the Tom Tom Girl. Tom Tom Girl, are you ready to do this? I believe I am ready to call Mikey. She's a GPS device. She's going to read you the lyrics to a song. And then you've got to tell us the title or the artist of the song. And then you win. What's the prize, Jay? Oh, that's a good question. I've got a viewing of the Pacquiao versus Mosley fight on Cox Advanced TV. That's tough. That was tough. Pacquiao. Pacquiao. Mosley. I have the Pacquiao. 570-1949 if you want to win the pay-per-view to the Pacquiao fight. Winning. It's a Mikey show. Make some noise with our live studio.
Make some noise. We got a live studio audience in here. Tom Tom Toons coming up here in just a second. But first, Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, Osama bin Laden's wife, one of the five, has told interrogators that she did not go outside the walled compound they were living in for five years. Not one time did she go outside. She was wounded in the raid and she said that she lived in the compound with eight of his children and five others from another family. I just can't imagine not leaving. So let me ask you a question. You're our wife of Osama bin Laden? Yes. My name is Carol. Hello, Carol. Carol. C-R-O-L. Like the mom in Brady Bunch? Correct. Okay. So, Carol. Yes. You live in Kampan for five years. Correct. Five long years. Never left Kampan? No.
What do you do for this? I watch my stories, my programs. Like which ones? Real Housewife of Pakistan. Young and Restless. Right, Young and Restless. All the Children. All the Children. All my Children. Grey Anatomy. Grey Anatomy. Friend. Friend. That's a good one. Friend is very good. Ross and Rachel. What was favorite episode? A Friend? Yeah. Viva on a break! Do you like when Phoebe sings about Smelly Cat? Smelly Cat, Smelly Cat, what are they feeding you? It's a great one. Also, a story out of Houston. This is pretty crazy. After Osama Bin Laden was killed, a teacher at Clearbrook High School, he was an algebra teacher, on Monday said something real inappropriate to one of his students. One of his students... who is of Muslim faith, was in the class and the teacher said to that student, a boy, a male teacher, sorry, says to a female student, I bet you're grieving. And the student looks at the teacher like, what are you talking about? And the teacher, the male teacher said, I heard about your uncle's death. What? What? Yes, this is an American born girl of Muslim faith. Oh my. Yes.
Again, male teacher says to female student, I bet you're grieving. The student says, what? I heard about your uncle's death. Come on. Yes. The student went home, ended up crying. The mother has gone to the school, made a big deal about this. Nothing's happened yet. Think something will happen? Yes. Oh, wow. Yes. They want their identity protected. They don't want anyone to know about their names or anything. But that's just awful. What a dumb teacher. Yeah. Oh, boy. Woods, what's going on in sports? Well, the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, is now very frustrated because there is a lack of negotiations going on in the NFL right now. There's just no other way to look at it. They're just not talking. And when it's a stalemate like this, there's no end in sight. So he said, unfortunately, I don't think we're making much progress in negotiations because they aren't really happening. If you guys want to get this thing done, you've got to go in there and hammer it out. It's not going to resolve itself.
They're so far apart, man. They're so far apart. It's like we were talking about. We just had a draft before. What's going to happen? Fake draft. I'm all the way in, man. They've got to get this thing done. In order to do it, you've got to talk. You have to talk. And then the NBA playoffs resume tonight. Bulls, Hawks, and Lakers, Mavericks. There you go. Let's do a little bit of this. There's the Tom Tom girl. Welcome to the studio, TomTom Girl. It's nice to have you. It's nice to be here with you, Mikey. Now, the TomTom Girl is the TomTom device, GPS device from Woods' car. Correct. And it doesn't get much use anymore because Woods knows his way around now. Kid thinks he knows everything these days. It's a true story. I always say, easy, Jason Priestley.
Is that what you always say, TomTom Girl? Yeah, he thinks he's a big reality TV star. Yeah, that's right. He sure does. I have no idea what you're talking about. That's right. None. So what we do is the TomTom Girl will read some lyrics and the person on the phone has to tell us what it is, what song it is. Title or artist will win. This is M1 Rick from Escondido. Rick, how are you? How you doing? We're good. You got 20 seconds to tell us title or artist of the following song's lyrics. TomTom Girl, go ahead. There is a black man with a black cat living in a black neighborhood. He's got an interstate running through his front yard. You know he thinks he's got it so good. And there's a woman in the kitchen cleaning up evening slop. M1 Rick, title or artist? John Mellencamp, bro. John Mellencamp. That was Pink Houses. That was Pink Houses. That was Pink Houses. That one was easy to me, but they only get tougher from here. M1 Jason from Mirror Mesa. What's up, Ms. Ike? How you doing, dude? I'm hanging in, brother.
How about you? Doing good. You got 20 seconds, which is a good period of time. It's a good long length of time for you to tell us the title or artist of this song from the Tom Tom Girl. Go ahead. All right. Nibbling on sponge cake, watching the sun bake, all of the tourists covered in Isle. Come on now. Oh, wow. Fastest one ever. Ever. Ever. Very well done. Nibbling on sponge cake. Dude. Somebody is a parrot head. Guy's got a parrot on his head right now. That's right. Good job, bro. Did Jimmy Buffett have any other hit? Oh, yeah, a bunch. Come Monday. Cheeseburger and Parrothead. He went to Paris. Don't pretend like you are not the biggest Buffett fan. I... I despise Jimmy Buffett. Then what's with the parrot on the head? What's with the Tommy Bahama shirt? What's with the coconut bra? I don't wear Tommy. I don't wear Tommy Bahama. Yes, you do. You wear Tommy Bahama, you listen to Jimmy Buffett. You have sunglasses with palm trees on the end. You love the whole scene, the tropical island scene. It's your scene. We've all got our scene. That's yours. It's the farthest thing from my scene.
It's totally your scene. If you could get burritos in Hawaii, you would be living there right now. It's not. Just barefoot all the time, just chilling in hammocks. I like Hawaii. Drinking virgin pina coladas. M1 Matt from El Cajon. Good morning, guys. Good morning. All right. Are you ready to do this? I'll do my best. All right. Now, I'm going to tell you right now. This one will be difficult for me, but most Americans and most people. are probably going to be familiar with this. LLB, or excuse me, Tom Tom, girl. 20 seconds. Here we go. Singing, don't worry about a thing, because every little thing is going to be all right. Rise up this morning, smiled with the rising sun, three little birds, pitch by my doorstep, singing sweet songs of melodies, pure and true. Saying this is my message to you. M. Yeah. Very well done. Somebody is a pothead, I see. Yes. Somebody likes them some cannabis. Yes. I know this song. I just didn't know that it was called Three Little Birds. It's title or artist, Mikey. That's right. Very good job.
I didn't know that's what this was. I thought it was called Don't Worry About a Thing because every little thing is going to be all right. Don't worry. That's literally what I thought it was called. Hang on the line, Matt. Jay, what did Matt win? Matt won in a viewing of Pacquiao and Mosley fight on Cox Advance TV. Very well done. You know who Manny Pacquiao is. In addition to being an incredible boxer, he's also a singer. I've heard this in a while. I think it's important to point out that when Manny Pacquiao sang this, he freaking meant it. Eyes closed. Passion. He wasn't kidding. He wasn't joking. Yeah, he wasn't joking. I want you to know that in this man's mind, what he's hearing in his ears is good. It's damn good. Well, it's actually better than good. Because in his mind...
There are a lot of people that could sing sometimes when we touch that couldn't be a recording artist. Right. He knows he was blessed with two things. Lightning fast speed, which means pound for pound, maybe one of the best boxers ever. Yeah, minus a maybe. And singing. The honesty too much. Really, Manny Pacquiao's friends? Yeah. Really? Who wants to tell him? Yeah. You tell him. Someone that loves him. There should have been one man that said, Manny, listen, buddy, I love you. No, you're not going into that recording studio. I can't let you do it. If you do, you're going to look foolish. But not only did they not do that, but they all said, Bravo.
Bravo. Bravo. Nice work. The guy playing the piano was like this. Head down. Just get through the song. I got three minutes left. Dead puppies. Dead puppies. Yesterday I was in a coffee shop. Weird. Yeah, weird. Had the day off. I was trying to fill my time. There's a piano in there, community piano, and anyone can get on it. Oh, no. Well, this German guy got on it. Right. First he started doing just like Mozart, like stuff with no words, and everyone was like, yeah! Yes! Wow! Then he decided he was going to do some Coldplay. Oh, no. Are you kidding? He... Just started making up words. Like, he was singing, but he was like, it's true. Like, words that were not. And then when he hit the high notes, everyone was looking up from their table because he was going. Like, it sounded like a cat was getting run over. Where was your recorder? Oh, I wanted it. I almost brought out my iPhone, but I was like, I felt bad for the guy. Yeah, but it was like, everyone was like, yeah, yeah. He started.
Thank you. Thank you. Welcome to Starbucks, everybody. Wonderful to be here at the Mac House. This is our friend, Mikael, from Munich. He's wonderful. He's wonderful. My friend Dietz is on the Standard Base. Thank you. Welcome to go. And when you're here on your door. Sorry about that one. I don't know the words to that one so much. So maybe this one I'm familiar with. Can we have a round of applause for Nipi? He's a big hit. Yes, this is Dietz on piano too. And this is my other friend Dietz on lead guitar. Oh, great. On drums, my friend Dietz. Hello, Dietz. Hello. Hope you enjoy this one. This one is called Hello. Look at the place. Look how it shines for you. And then you know what to do. Wow.
I want to put on one, two. Leave it on zero. I love to go into coffee shops and see random German guys singing Coldplay. Who doesn't? Let's go out in the paper church. No way. When he hit the high notes, that's when people were a little unsure when he hit the high notes, when everyone looked up at each other, like, is he? Really? Does this happen just a bit? Oh, poor guy. We have started doing something here on the Mikey Show because we're in, how many floors do we have in this building? Seven. No, there's ten. We're on the seventh. That's right. Ten floors in the building that we're in. Stay away from the crack. We're here in the Booz Allen Hamilton building in the thriving metropolis of Mission Valley. And we started doing the thing called Elevator Ambush where we all get into an elevator.
When somebody walks in, we ambush them. We play a trivia game with them that's a lot like Cash Cab. Absolutely. What's your name? What's your name? Christine. Christina, we're the Mikey Show. Hi. Hi. Hi, Mikey Show. How are you? Would you like a chance to win a fabulous prize? What do we have, Jay? It's a $50 gift card to proflowers.com. Would you like to win a $50 gift card to proflowers.com? All you have to do is answer five questions. It's Elevator Ambush. Okay, what are the five questions? Five questions. Okay. Yeah. All you got to do is get three out of the five, okay? Three out of the five. You can do this. That's us sounding excited. Yeah. Yeah. Ooh. Yeah. Cash cab. It's like cash cab. Okay. I'm ready. What tube connecting a developing baby to its placenta is served when a baby is born? Is severed when a baby is born? Some places it is served. Jay's house. Listen, this time I knew Jay won't embarrass me by keeping that in. He will surely edit it out. Because he won't want to embarrass me. He won't want to embarrass me. I know he'll take it. Really?
maybe not all right you need to get two more right in the popular video game Donkey Kong what kind of animal was Donkey Kong I see some flowers in your future, my dear. Get one more right. Forgot to mention, Woods was actually broadcasting from inside of a toilet bowl, and so that's why his son... Get one more right out of the next three, and you're a winner. What birthmark politician led the Soviet Union from 1985 till 1991? Oh, um, what was his name? Her friend helped her. Mmm, boy. That is correct. Oh, Jay. Jay, what do you mean by, hmm, boy? Honey. You're a married man. I'm just saying there was a lovely young lady that was her friend. She was probably 10 years younger than your youngest daughter. No, she was not. I heard it tell Chris when we got off the elevator, I saw them get off on the fourth floor, so maybe I'll just hang out on the floor. Maybe I have to.
Go produce some things. You got a little help from your friend. You can ask me one more. And that's okay. All right, we'll give you one more. What's your friend's name? Aaron. Aaron helped you out on that one. On this one, Aaron. Jay. How you doing? How you doing? Famous for his red tufts of hair, what legendary TV clown did Alan Livingston create in 1946? Bozo. You are correct! You really, really did well. Congratulations. You won the elevator ambush. Jay, again, where did they win? ProFlowers.com, a $50 gift card. There you go. Maybe someday we start taking it to other elevators. Who knows? Maybe somebody in an elevator here in San Diego can be a winner. I thought I'd heard it all. I have not because apparently people have birthday parties and they're a very particular type of birthday party. L.O.B. went to one. I'll tell you about it. And I want to know from M1s if they have done this or if they've ever been to one. We'll do that next. Don't go away. How's our chance? Let's do it. More from the Mikey Show coming up. Be a part of the show. I don't think it's that simple. 570-1949. Or shoot him a text at 949mikey at gmail.com. I'm beginning to like the sound of that. FM 94.9. The wait is over. FM 94.9. Somebody speed up the teleprompter. It's not the version I know. Thank you. That's the Black Crowes in concert, ladies and gentlemen. That's what they sound like. They change everything. You know, if you have a photograph, you want to turn it into a portrait, and I mean like a portrait, oil painting, make it look like an oil painting, go to portraitprints.net. Jared, our guy Jared, he has createyourdesignonline.com and portraitprints.net, and they're both fantastic. Check them out. Let's see.
So, L.O.B. was invited to and attended a birthday party for a dog. Yeah. Yes. In. Weirdo. In? In. In, yeah. Sienna, why in? Because that's fun. Why wouldn't you go? Because it's a dog. Can we, Americans ever take, you know, things to the nth level? That's an American thing. Do you think that... In Spain, people are having dog parties. Probably. It doesn't matter. You would know of all of us. Probably. Some rhetorical. First of all, LLB, I'm Mexican. Oh, my bad. Not Spanish. But, I mean, isn't that a little overzealous, Woods? It's a bit.
It's just a bit. It's a, hey, this is funny. Let's all get wasted at my house. That's all it is. You might as well just call it a barbecue. Why don't you just call it a barbecue? You should. You should. But I think it's like. Why don't you call it a barbecue so I don't have to bring like a dog present? Wouldn't hurt you to stop and get a little bag of jerky treats. Really? Wouldn't hurt you to just call it a barbecue. Listen, I've got dogs. I wouldn't do it. But who am I to say you shouldn't? L.O.B., who in your group of friends, who did this? I mean. Oh, there's been a couple of them. I'm not going to name names. There's been a couple of them. The most recent one is a friend of mine that I went to school with, and I've known this little puppy since she's been, since she came, like, yeah, like a couple weeks. Cocaine's a hell of a drug. Six years old, so I got her something special. Do they dress the dog? No, they give a new collar, and, like, you know, she usually wears a collar, but sometimes, like, on Fridays or, like, on... Over the weekend, she gets to be like, it's like naked Friday. You get to take the collar off. So it was her birthday, so she had no collar. What's wrong with dressing dogs? My dogs might have Notre Dame outfits that they wear on game day Saturday. And by might, I mean they do. Penny Bell has a cheerleader. Penny Bell. Lucky has a jersey. Sunny has a jersey. Halloween costumes, too. Halloween costumes. Our dogs have more clothes than you do. My one friend has a dog. It's a wiener dog, like Sienna's dog, Zipper.
And he dressed the dog in a construction outfit and took the dog to the construction site and took pictures. Oh, my gosh. It's hilarious. I am not pro-dog dressing. I am anti-dog dressing. You hate animals. No, I don't hate animals. You hate dogs. I don't hate dogs. Why do you have a shirt on that says, kill all dogs? Why do you have a Michael Vick shirt on? You have a Vick jersey on. I don't have on a t-shirt. It's Tommy Bahama t-shirt that says I don't like dogs. Not I hate dogs because Mikey doesn't hate them. She doesn't like them. When I was a child, I lost a dog. I know. So did everyone. Not I did. I did too. You did? I lost a dog too. You did? Yeah. Who hasn't? You move on. It affected me very profoundly. I was a kid that used to cry at Rachmaninoff music. It's a true story. Nothing's changed. I don't think I've told that. He's hanging out with the big dogs, you know. What's that? It's Rick James. It's James. I'm Rick James. Okay, Rick. Asked and answered. Thank you, Rick. I appreciate your input, Rick James. Thank you for being here, Rick. I say...
I say thank you for being here, Rick James. Drink up. Be married. Welcome. All right. It's Rick James, everybody. Yeah, I think that dressing the dog is excessive. I do. I think it's unnecessary. Mike. Yeah. You know how important my dogs are to me. Yeah. They can be important without wearing a sweater. Well, you know how much we love our dogs. Yep. God forbid, I'm not looking forward to one of these days when something happens. And I call you and I go, hey pal, I can't make it into work. I understand that. You do? Yeah. Holy cow. I thought about that the other day too. Well, I understand it with you. I understand it with Sienna as well. Because I know that to you guys, your dogs are family members. And I think most people. You're a good man. Don't let anybody tell you different. You're a good man. It doesn't matter what the show says.
You're a good dude. You understand me? Regardless of what Clear Channel or anybody named Eddie Ashley or Sky ever says, you... You're a good dude. Name it names. You're a good dude. Come on, everybody. Let's grow up. I'll scream it from the mountaintops. You're a good man. I thought you'd be like... Really, you pee? No. That's what I'm saying. That's what Jay would say. Well, if anything ever happens to Jay's dog, you know we're going to have a barbecue that week. Yeah. Hey, y'all come over. Got to give back. Listen, Jay used to have chickens. They were pets, and then they would eat them, you know? Yes. So that was life, you know? Waste not, want not. Waste not, want not. But here's the thing, man. Here's what you got to remember. If you are the type of person that feels the way that... Woods feels or that Sienna feels. I mean, I guess all right, but I think it's a little excessive to be putting dogs in sweaters and pants. It's not. It's fun. Some dogs like it. Not for the dogs. It's fun. They hate it. Especially on the little dogs. They can't handle the cold, and so they need sweaters. Yeah, they need it. It's true. My dog, Penny Bell, may have sunglasses. What?
They may be called doggles. Oh, cute. Oh, my. Oh, my gosh. Do they have shoes? True story. I saw a dog with shoes on the trail the other day. They have shoes. They have doggles. They have visors. They have doggles. Doggles. Why? You put them for when they're in the biplane? Looks funny. Looks cute. You wrap a scarf around them? No, for just when they're chilling on the couch. I bet they don't like it. Oh, she hates it. It's funny. I think there's supposed to be a function, not just because they look funny. Well, they have little diamond-encrusted stars on the side, so I don't think they're functioning. Oh, wow. We're ridiculous. I'll admit it. Yeah. We're really ridiculous with ours. Well, to each their own. 570-1949. Sorry, I love my pets. Again. Do you love your pets? Do you love your pet? Yeah, again, what this is saying is, is that unless you dress your pets. Yes, agreed. You don't love them. We got that down? Yeah. It's a rule. Your cat Jules has like a scarf on and like an aviator hat. Never. Yeah, like a Davy Jones hat. Looks like Charles Lindbergh. Yeah, exactly. Let's hear it for Bellagio Restore. Oh, yeah. Again, are they good?
They are on Claremont Mesa Boulevard. It's 10-492 Claremont Mesa Boulevard here in San Diego. And they brought in some delicious food. They do incredible Italian. Classy joint, too. Very classy place. I'm looking at their menu. They got all of the classics. They got the lasagna al forno. Oh! Spaghetti alla bulianisa. I like it because every once in a while when I go in there, I have too much to drink. You know, they got some great wine. It's called the Bellagio Restaurante. Like the casino. Shut up. You know what else they do? Hey, is it the same restaurant that does the water? Same owner. Same owner. What's your name? Owner. Pablo. Pablo?
Pablo. So Pablo's got this water called Uplift Water for Life. Every bottle that they sell, they give it a bottle to the homeless. Oh, wow. It's really nice. Good man. Yeah, it is true. I haven't talked about that. I don't think I've ever mentioned it before at this radio station. But when I was a kid, when I was like 12, no, younger than that, 10, I would be moved to tears. By the music of Rachmaninoff. You know we're on the air, right? Yeah, we're not on a break here. Yeah, this is not just trustry. This is on air. Microphones are on. Prime time. There was a film starring Christopher Reeve called Somewhere in Time. Yes. It's a romance. And largely unmonitored as a child. Largely unmonitored. Yes. Okay. And spent a lot of time with the television. And home box office.
Otherwise known, HBO to the layman. HBO. To the layman. I watched a lot of HBO, 2 a.m., with a big thing of cereal. And by big, I mean the biggest Tupperware thing you could find. Largely unmonitored. Largely unmonitored. A vat of cereal. Clearly. An entire gallon of milk. What did he say? Clearly. Yeah, that one got me a little bit. Most of the time, you know. He's killing me! That one got me to the core. I know. It's funny because he's fat. All right. Really? Seriously? Fat hoe? This is March the very first time. You could get big jugs. It's okay, Mike. Just don't listen to it. It's not. Just ignore it. It's okay. Things have changed. It's the first time in 40 years that anyone's ever called me a, quote, fat hoe. I know.
But you know what? To your face. Oh, my God. It's killing me. It's killing me. Okay. You hurt me. You hurt me, too. Rise above. And scene. You're a different person now. He cuts deep. He cuts very. He cuts so deep. I got down to the shrapnel in my heart. Yes. Was it when he called me a fat hoe or was it when he said not to your face? Not to my face. That's what it got me. Which, you know, the implication, of course, is that, no, Mike, you're called that quite often. It's just you're not present. So there I sat Indian style, 12 years old, Captain Crunch watching HBO movie with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve, where he falls in love with a woman and is so in love with her that. He figures out a way to travel back in time because she was alive in 1912 and fall in love with her all over again in the Victorian era. Okay. Moved me to tears. Mikey. Is that strange? Sweet kid. Sweet kid. I may have listened to it like Hannibal Lecter after he killed the guy inside the cage and was eating him. Demonstrating right now. Swaying back and forth. With a hand.
With a hand going in front of him. Remember the fat little days of listening to Rachmaninoff music. Until I cried. Do you think my parents ever thought it was weird that they'd hear me sobbing? Why? Do you think they thought that their 12-year-old might be disturbed? That was Jay. I know. He's my sound effects coordinator. Guru. Extraordinaire. Yep. Good times, huh? Sweet kid. Good memories. Very sweet. Great memories. I was 12. I was trying to French girls. Yeah. Succeeding sometimes. Wow. I was sitting Indian style crying to the music of Rachmaninoff and watching HBO. Native American style. Yes. Yes. All right. Well.
Did you guys hear about this thing that's happening in Phoenix that has got everyone in an uproar? Oh, my goodness. It's pretty crazy. Yes. Okay. So a 15-year-old girl is at school. She gets caught drinking in school and becomes belligerent before assaulting a teacher. Now, we need to say, though, it's one of those schools that I think they're called continuation, right? Charter. Charter. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So you don't go to high school because you go to this school outside of high school. Yeah. For various reasons. When I was in high school, it was because you either were troubled or you made trouble. Or some kids that are like actors or something, they can't go to school every day, so this is what they do. The alternative, aside from getting a GED. So this girl was... Like Arnold Drummond. Yeah. This girl was clearly... That's his name, right? The actor, Arnold Drummond. I think so. Mr. D. Yeah, Mr. Drummond was his dad. Right. Arnold was Gary Coleman. Whatever, you know, I mean. Yeah. Well, this 15 year old girl was clearly a troubled girl because she was drinking in school and assaulted a teacher. Now, her mother came after police were called and the mom and the 15 year old girl leave the school and they're in the parking lot. Now, they start having a physical altercation in the parking lot is what it's.
described as yeah they caught that on tape too by the way and the mother tried to restrain the girl until the police arrived so when the police showed up the girl the 15 year old started walking away slowly away from the officers like she didn't want anything to do with this well the officer that showed up seemingly unprovoked as this video shows charges the 15-year-old girl and slams her into the side of a building. Now, this is caught on video, knocking her off of her feet. 15-year-old girl didn't provoke him, didn't harass him, nothing. He just did this. And so the question is, has people upset? Did the girl do something wrong? This officer just did something to a 15-year-old girl that did nothing to him. Body slammed her into the wall. It's so hard to make sense of because moments before you see on video her beating her mother. Beating her. Like holding her hair and like beating her. Her mother. And so when you see the cop do this to this 15-year-old, there's a part of you that also goes, see, that's what it's like. You know me? You beat your mom, look what happened. I'm typically like, oh, it's excessive use of force, you know? But then we watched that girl beat the crap out of her mom. Like beat the crap out of her.
When I saw it, I was like, well, that hurt. Well, this video was uploaded on YouTube on March 20th. And the first time it was seen by authorities was on Tuesday night after a department employee saw it and then told a supervisor. And now it's out everywhere. And the officer, Larrison is his name, he has been placed on administrative leave as the department is investigating. You can see the video everywhere. It's nice. It is. It's everywhere. Yeah. Food dude is coming in. Kevin Roberts. Yeah. He's bringing some wings. Oh, yes. Oh, yeah. Happy birthday to me. That's right. Make some noise. All right. Studio audience in here with us. Whether you're what? A brother. A brother or a mother. Hello, boo. Or whether you're a mother. I never know. Hello, boo. Say what up, Jackie? OSI is eight days away. Woo! Operation Street Impact is going to be in eight days, man. We're going to be out at Qualcomm, and it's going to be from 10 to 1, and we're going to be giving away our new sticker. It's going to be awesome. Let's hear it for Kevin Roberts, which is in the studio. Kevin Roberts, who I have always known as the Food Dude, is here with us. Or my ex likes to call the Food Dud. The Food Dud. Wow. Harsh. And Kevin...
has got a restaurant. In fact, you've got a couple of places now, right? 17. That wouldn't have surprised me, man. I've got like four. One I'm an investor partner in, and then the other three, the East Village Tavern and Bowls. All the Tavern and Bowl concepts I've got a little piece of. Dude, those are the coolest things, man. We went down there. We did one of our M1 parties down there. So fun. That place is rad. It's like the coolest looking bowling alley I've ever seen in my life. It's pretty awesome, man. Yeah, new bowling style, I guess we call it. Yeah. We pimped out bowling. That's what we've done. Jay's wearing socks from there right now. Yeah. It's true. Hey, I paid for them. I might as well keep them. I bought them for Jay. Wow. That's genius, right? Because everybody wears flip-flops in San Diego. All of a sudden, you got a bowl, you need a pair of socks. We could make some money there. I ain't going to throw them away. I ain't going to give them back. Hell no, I ain't going to throw them away. It has our logo on it, correct? It has our skull and cross pin logo on it. Made of money? Yeah, it's also a coffee filter for me. Sometimes I use it as a nut cap. Yeah, that's right. See, we got our skull and cross pin. Hey, listen. My wife, Kim, said she needed a shower cap. I said, I ain't spending...
45 cents on a freaking shark app if I've got a bowling alley sock. Use my socks, Kim. Hit me. Mikey told me to get a microphone screen. I said, hey, I use this sock. Why would I spend 25 cents on a microphone screen if I've got a bowling alley sock? I will wear those until at least three toes poke through each. Not two, three. Sorry, Mikey. Threes. Oh, boy. So, Kevin, you also have teamed up with Frank's Red Hot, right? Yeah, I'm actually the national spokesperson for, God, six, seven years now. Yeah, yeah. So I brought you my famous wings, my tavern-style wings, which is basically half Frank's Red Hot, half barbecue sauce. Delicious. And then the sweet chili wings, which we have new on the menu right now. I'm one of the chefs from the NFL, so I just was in Dallas doing the big Super Bowl. I did like 40,000 wings. 40,000. Something crazy. It felt like 40,000 of my sweet chili, and they killed it. So we brought those into EBT. And then I just hooked you up. Frank's is doing this kind of thick sauce for more like your fries and your burgers and stuff. So it's called Frank's Red Hot Thick. Hello, Bree.
Wow. So that's the hook. Hey, you know, I haven't seen you in a long time, man. Last time, do you remember I did your show back in the day and we're like outside and I was cooking for all these people? Yeah. You had lines, people like at seven in the morning. Yeah, it was behind Clear Channel and we had all the stuff set up and we cooked back there. Yeah. It was really cool. I wish we could do that here. We probably can. Maybe we use that. Fire marshal guy? Yeah, the volleyball court that we have out there. Fake volleyball court. That volleyball's never been played on, ever. There's a parking lot I just wandered around for about a half hour trying to find the place. So, hey, this stuff is great. Now, if people want to get these wings, they want to try them today. No way. Where do you go? Nowhere. Nowhere? You have to come home with me. Yeah. No. Obviously, any of my tavern and bowls, I'll serve them. I actually have a little trick I do with my wings. I haven't done it with these wings, but just if you're doing them at home, here's my trick. I actually boil my wings in beer. Really? Yeah. What it does is it makes them really nice and tender, absorbs that great beer flavor. I don't know what kind of beer guy you are, what kind of beer people you guys are. Guinness. Guinness. So the darker, it'll have that kind of robust, smoky flavor to the wings. You drain them off, then obviously get outdoors, grill them up so they have that nice crispy edge. And then, of course, they'll...
Frank's Red Hot. I call that my menage a trois of love. Boiled grill sauce. Sounds good to me. That's right. I got me a menage a trois, too. A menage a trois. Menage a trois. Trois. Menage a trois. Menage a trois. Y'all shut up. Listen, we got to go back there, man. We got to do another M1 get together at the Tavern and Bulls. They're really cool, dude. Thank you. And the wings are phenomenal. If you've never had them before, you got to go down and try them out. It's the East Tavern and Bull. And what's the... Cross Street, what's the location? It's what, Market and 9th, Market and 10th, right there? Yeah, and the trick is with our wings, we haven't boiled the hell out of them, so they're not deep fried to death. You can actually still taste the wing. They still have flavor. They still actually have the protein profile. So, I mean, yeah, it's a good wing for sure. He's hosting a show on TLC right now. Well, you don't have the host of Barbecue Pitmasters on TLC. No way. Yeah, most of that. That just aired a few months ago. And then, actually, Better TV just picked me up. It's on channel CW6 here. Nice. A little co-hosting gig there. How do you like that?
Barbecue Pitmasters? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, sick. I was eating the best barbecue on the planet. All the time? Yeah, they flew in all these crazy people from Texas to the Carolinas, everybody. What's his name? Oklahoma Joe's from Kansas City. So you didn't go to the different places. They would film it in one area? Yeah, we filmed it in L.A. on actually the set of True Blood. Really? Yeah, there's actually real bats there flying around. It kind of freaked me out. But yeah, we filmed it for like six weeks over the summer. So when they do that, don't these dudes... Because I thought that when these guys cook, they got to have all their own meat and all that. They fly their meat in. No, no. We supplied the meat, like whole hogs, alligator. I mean, we're doing all kinds of crazy stuff. But they brought in all their own rigs. You know, they have $100,000 rigs, these guys. It's like smokers on wheels. Right. It's insane. Was there a, even now as you think back on it, was there one that stands out to you that you go, If I could go to this guy's place, you know, and have his again. Oklahoma Joe. Kansas City barbecue is probably one of the best, I would say. And he's he kills it. He didn't win on the show, but his food just kills it. Burnt ends. Burnt ends. And what was the thing that would it be every.
type of meat or was it like brisket was it all yeah each episode was a brisket or next episode was a hog next episode was alligator next episode was you know like ostrich yeah we had all kinds of crazy proteins now if you figure that all these dudes are pretty good at what they do I mean obviously they wouldn't be there frog we had frog legs one time yeah somebody out now if they're all this good Did you ever taste one that you were like, this guy, as good as it was, it was disgusting? Yeah, it's actually amazing because people think chefs can cook and they're consistent and they're always on it. Right. You know, sometimes we mess up too. So, yeah, a couple guys, they went down with the... With the full flames. What did you taste that you were like, don't want to do that again? One guy cooked something that was raw still. Ew. Oh, wow. No. I've done it. It's not a good feeling. That's the problem with smoking, too, because it's low temperature over a long time. So you're at 120 degrees for 8 to 10 to 12 hours. If you don't get it right. You bit into something that was raw? Yeah. Do you remember what kind of meat? I think it was either the alligator tail. Oh, dude. Oh, my gosh. The squirrel. Ew.
Squirrel. Could have been that whale meat. Maybe it was that dolphin flipper. Yeah. Knowing what you know now after going through this experience, if you had to prepare alligator today, how would you do it? Medium well. Well done. Yeah. You fry it. Do you bake it? Yeah, you got to deep fry it. They tried smoking it. It just didn't work. That's disgusting. Yeah, alligator tail's pretty gnarly. What would you compare it to? Not chicken. Don't say chicken, yeah. Is it fishy? It's kind of half fish, half... Oh man, it's like a freaky halibut. It's like a thick, chewy halibut. But a raw halibut. It's pretty gnarly. Pretty gnarly stuff. I would love to be... I would love to be on one of those panels, though, where you get to try it. Well, the judges were Warren Sapp, you know, the football player. Myron Mixon, the number one barbecue in the world. And Art Smith, who's Oprah and Obama's chef. Oh, wow. And they had to taste everything. Thank God I could pick and choose what looked good to me. Because you're the host. Yeah, but towards the end of the day, we would film 14, 16-hour days. At the end of the day, you could just see the look on their faces like, oh, my God.
It was trouble. Trouble was a brewing down south. My favorite, I think, by far would be chicken. Because if you can burn, you know, if you can get that crispy part of a chicken when you grill it, is there anything better than like... That's called the skin. Yeah, the skin. But when the skin gets that crunchy black grill on it, oh man, there's nothing better. The whole hook is having that nice crispy edge and then nice and tender inside. That's why the wings, as I said, if you boil them or make them really tender first, and then get them outdoors or grill them, you get that crispy edge. I love that. I like that chard. Yeah, me too. Almost like burnt edge. The ribs, man. Ribs. Smoked ribs. It's like an art form where I come from in Texas. My brother is pretty good at it, but we've done some where you smoke them for 10, 12 hours, you eat them, and they're disgusting. You can really screw up. Right. You really got to know what you're doing when you're smoking stuff. Well, the hook is, too, is with a dry rub or wet rub. When you're cooking it, those sugars are supposed to caramelize with the fats of the meat or the protein. And that's what creates that really good crispy edge. I love the crispy edge. I'll eat that right now. Kevin's got a great book, too. You got a book, and it's called Munchies. Oh, no. No. Munchies. Munchies. I have munchies. You got a book called Munchies. And if you're a dude.
Do you have a copy of my book? I do. Munchies is a great dude book, man. It's a great dude cookbook. Because it's easy and it's just good stuff. And my beer wings are in there, man. Absolutely, yeah. Munchies is basically, my whole hook is trying to get guys back in the kitchen and cooking. Ladies, who doesn't like a guy who cooks? Yeah. Right? That's what I'm talking about. I love the grill, man. I just think it's good conversation, good drink or whatever, good food and good sex. It's hot. What the heck is wrong with that? That's weird. Fun times. Hey, when you were doing that show with Warren Sapp and all the people, who was a pain in the butt off the camera? Warren Sapp? No. He's a tweeting fool, we call him. What is it? He was tweeting. Constantly tweeting. Tweeting 24-7. Filming, non-filming. You know, whatever he's doing, he was tweeting in one hand. And did you say to him? I think everybody else said to him. I'm scared of him. He's a big dude. Yeah. And he's very angry. No, he's a cool guy. How long were the days? 14, 16 hours. I bet they complained. I think we go to like four in the morning. It was insane. Yeah, it was wild stuff. Eating barbecue at four in the morning was getting, it was pretty hardcore. I bet. But you never thought you could eat barbecue at four in the morning. Yeah, let's just say I haven't eaten barbecue since now. I took about a month break. Hey, I bet all the people in the studio, I bet you never thought you'd have chicken wings at eight o'clock in the morning. This is what Wood says all the time to our listeners. Every week. Every week. That's his saying. Well, what happened was, is that.
Woods, the very first time we would have breakfast brought in at this time, he turned around and said to some people in the studio, Bet you never thought you'd be eating hamburgers at this time of the morning, huh? Well, over the course of the next few weeks, he would do the same bit for every day. Bet you never thought you'd have pizza at this time of the morning. Different audience. Lauren noticed it. And so right in front of everybody, she goes, So is that just your go-to line? You just say that every week to everybody? At the same time. So now, every week, Lauren will say, Bet you guys never thought you could have. Makes me laugh every single. Hey, you find a good bit, you roll. That's his hook. That's my hook. That's his thing. That's his thing. That's his bit. He's ready to be a dad now. Hey, gang, it's your old pal, Woodsy. Bet you never thought you'd be eating hamburgers at 6 o'clock in the morning. It's fantastic. Well, again, it's Kevin Roberts. And Kevin has a restaurant here in town. And it's the East Village Tavern and Bowl. And the brand new one, North County Tavern and Bowl. Nice. Westfield Mall in Escondido right up the 15th. So when it's 8,000 degrees out in about, what, two more days? Yeah.
Go inside. Hit the mall up. Actually let the wife or the girlfriend go start shopping. Hit North County up. Do a little bowling. You get some wings and beer. Have a beer. Have some wings. Yeah. They're great wings, man. And actually enjoy the mall. I actually avoid the mall like the plague, but this mall I would go to. They're good. Good wings. Thanks for having me, Mikey. Hey, dude. Thank you, man. Let's hear it for Kevin Roberts. Oh, my God. It's better than I thought. Let your voice be heard on The Mikey Show now. Call 570-1949 or shoot him a text. 949mikey at gmail.com. You don't want to be yourself? I don't want to be myself because if I do, I don't want to be disappointed later. Yeah, don't shame him out of making progress. I'm making progress. Good for you. That's not progress. Isn't it? You need to stay true to yourself. Yes, staying true to myself usually means I buy things that I'm tired of in a week. Fair enough. 5701949 is our phone number. New movies that are out this weekend, Sienna. Jumping the Broom. What? Is out. Angela Bassett. Oh, good. Jumping the Broom is out. Angela Bassett. Angela Bassett, Paula Payton, Loretta Devine, and Sasha Smith. Oh, it's a Loretta Devine joint. The film follows two diverse families who must attend a wedding in Martha's Vineyard. Oh, sounds wacky. Shut up. Stop. Move forward.
Also out. Somebody is going to go to a movie theater today and put a 20 into that little drop. Into that little drop thing under the plexiglass. The bulletproof thing. The little bulletproof. And go, two for Loretta Devine. Excuse me? Yes, it's the 145 showing. It's the only showing today. Oh, what is it called? Jump over a broom? Jumping the broom. Yes, two for jumping the broom, please. I'm sorry, sir. I thought you said two for jumping the broom. Yeah, it's the only showing of it today. It's at 145. Right. Why do you want to see jumping the broom? I just need a place where I can do crack that no one knows that I'm doing crack. And it's a dark movie theater. And so as soon as the lights go out, I'll smoke crack. Wow, there's no other tickets sold. I don't have to worry about anybody turning me in because there's no one else in there. It's Jumping the Broom. With Loretta Devine. With Loretta Devine. I'm going to be the only person. Loretta Devine isn't going to go see Jumping the Broom. This next one looks really cute to me. Animated. Of course.
It's not animated. It's called Something Borrowed, and it has Kate Hudson, Jennifer Goodwin, John Krasinski, and Colin Egglesfield. It's a romantic comedy. Oh, Colin Egglesfield is. Yeah, he did. John Krasinski's the guy from The Office. He's annoying in movies, by the way. It sounds like a thriller. No, it's a romantic comedy. It looks very cute. What's it called? Something Borrowed. Really, dude? It's about a wedding. Oh, yeah. That sounds like it. Wait, wait, wait. I was kidding. You were? Yeah. Okay. Sarcasm. It's about a girl, two best friends, and one of the friends hooks up with a fiancé. Crazy. Yeah. Nuts. Classic recipe. Too much. Too bad you both would like it if you watched it. Probably. I don't like this front. I would. I would. I'd be like, ooh, Kate Hudson's saucy. And the last big movie today is Thor. Somebody saw it. Who saw it? At midnight when it came out. You saw it at midnight. You've been up all night. Come over to the microphone. He hasn't slept yet. Whoa. I can't believe it. Did you like it, Thor? I did. You did? It was good? Who's in it? Do you know? Is there any stars in it? Natalie Portman's in it. She is not. Anthony Hopkins? I didn't go to watch Thor. I went to watch Natalie Portman. Oh, yeah. You should watch Black Swan if I were you. Check that out. Was it good? Black Swan? No. Thor.
I liked it. That's a ringing endorsement. Is it cheesy? Or is it well done? Cinematically, cinematographically, it was well done. Plot-wise, could have been better. Does Natalie take her clothes off? Not at all. Yeah, dude, she's going to take her clothes off in Thor. Hey, get with Thor. Thor took his clothes off. Oh, perfect. Who plays Thor? Some dude that looks like Heath Ledger. Chris Hemsworth? Is that him? Hemsworth. Hemsworth? Yeah, he's Thor. Ah, Chris Hemsworth, I presume. Powerful warrior god. But he did a great job playing Thor. Does he swing the hammer? Does he do the hammer bit? Just a hammer guy with a leather skirt. Is it anything like Troy? I liked Troy. No, this is fantasy. Troy was real.
I know that, but I like Fred. Well, this is like, I saw the preview, and there's like a dragon or something. Yeah, they're like gargoyles. Never mind. You know me. Thank you, dude. Thank you. Thank you. Get some sleep today. And maybe I'll see it. I will not. Thor. Thor. If somebody had rocks, they should name their boy Thor. There are people named Thor. There are not. Yes, there are. Woods. Thor Svensson. Who's that? You can't just make up names. That's rad, dude. Credit. Where credit's due. Thor Svensson. You look it up. Thor Svensson. You threw it out there and I had it. He's somebody. I locked in and I was like, wow, SOB. There's a Thor Svensson out there. Oscar nominated. Oscar nominated Thor Svensson. You're like, hello. Hello. Won the Pulitzer Prize, dude. Maybe you read every now and then. Maybe pick up the New York Times, bro. Oh my gosh. I just Googled Thor Svensson. Working with Thor Svensson had been... Meeting with Thor Svensson relocated to Australia. He looks like he's some kind of a surfer. What a fabulous idea. I knew I'd heard it. Thor Svensson is on Facebook. You know where I heard it? You know where I heard it? Where? You know me with movies, dude. Weird. I'm weird with it. And meet the parents. He goes, oh, that's my travel agent, Thor Svensson. That's where I got it. Bob De Niro says that to his family. And that's where I got it. Thor Svensson. He's from La Hoya.
Yeah, it's Winning Sea Surf Club. That's right by me. Hey, if anybody knows Thor. Thor, if you're listening, call in. Yeah, Thor, if you're listening, just call us. We'll give you a prize. Thor Spencer, bring your hammer. If by any chance my wife has another baby, which will be a boy. Sorry. It'll be a girl. It's all we know how to make as boys. We will name him Thor. You should. I would. I shall call him Thor. Thor Esparza. Maybe his middle name. What a ring. You forgot the beaver. The beaver's out today. With Mel Gibson. Let's listen to a moment of it. Walter, what the hell is this? The person who handed you this card is under the care of a prescription puppet. Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson. Trying to help create a psychological distance between himself and the negative aspects. So you loved him in Maverick. Nice beaver. She's got a beaver puppet. It kind of fit there. It really did. Nice beaver. Maybe one more time. Nice beaver. Oh, right. His personality. Please treat him as you normally would, but address yourself to the puppet. Thank you. There you go. Is this some kind of a joke? No, hardly love. Nothing funny about it. He talks through a beaver puppet on his hand. Have you seen the trailer for this? Yes. It's insane. Yeah, it's crazy. Weird. It's about a guy that's like crazy, right?
He finds a beaver in a dumpster when he's at his lowest point, and then he talks through it. And it's on his arm. And it brings him out of his crazy place. Yeah, and so to his kids, to everyone, he's talking with his beaver. I've done a lot of research on beaver. Oh, wow. Holy crap. Maybe it's brilliant. Yeah, our guidance counselor used to do that. She would talk through a dolphin named Duso. That's the only way she would communicate? She would be like... I want to tell you my feelings. Is it the only way that she would communicate? No, she would be like, now I'm going to pull out Duso. And she would try to get... So what you're saying is that you had a teacher that at one time, every once in a while, would do a puppet show. She was a guidance counselor. And there was an opening song and everything. It was, hey, Duso, come on out. And then she'd bring Duso out. L-O-B, question. Yes. Did she do that? And that's the only way that she communicated with mankind. Not the only way. Okay. That's different than the idea behind the movie Beaver because what she did, a lot of people do, but it's just a puppet show. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You would talk to Duso and you could no longer address her as Mrs. Brown. You had to address Duso.
Okay. Got it. You would talk to Duso. Got it. And you would say, listen, Mrs. Johnson. And she would say, talk to Duso. Or she would sometimes go. Unlike most puppeteers who go, yes, may I help you? It wasn't an entertainment show. She wasn't on the Smothers Brothers. It was a counseling session. Mrs. Duso, may I go to the restroom? Pardon me? Oh, wait. Pardon me? It was a counseling session, not an entertainment show. Yeah, nothing better than a child talking about something traumatic that they've been through. Really? Tell me about it. Tell me about it. It's less threatening. How did that make you feel? Did it make you feel sad? Tell me how you feel right now. Scared.
Why do you feel scared? Because you're talking with a puppet on your hand. It's a dolphin puppet. It's not really a dolphin puppet. It's a sock. With eyes drawn on with a sharpie. No, it was really good. Tell me what happened. Dad socked me in the neck. In the neck. Socked me in the neck, huh? Wow. Strange. So you're like, yeah, I was thinking about going to Amherst College or maybe Mount Holyoke. No, you're like seven. Oh, you're little. Yeah. Well, it's kind of cute then. Yeah. I did that with puppets. I saw the trailer for The Beaver. Was it The Beaver or Beaver? Leave it to Beaver. It's The Beaver. It's The Beaver. Leave it to Beaver. The Beaver. Leave it to Beaver. Yes. I saw it. I was like, must miss. I think it looks cool. It looks crazy. I'll watch it when it comes out on Homebox Office. HBO. The Navy SEAL team that killed Bin Laden will most likely be honored in secret. Yeah. I wish they would let us all know who they are so we could celebrate them. Buy some beers. But they got to continue with their special ops. Yeah.
That's true. Imagine, though, being honored and getting a medal. A lot of people that get medals of honor and these special medals have to hide them. Oh, yeah. You can't let anyone know you can't have them up in your house because no one can know who you are. Yeah. That stinks. That stinks. It's typical for undercover work. I'll tell you what, though, man. When the FedEx guy came over, I'd be like, do you have a second? Grab a seat, pal. Come on. I want to show you something because I can't show anybody. Can I trust you? Yeah. You're not going to tell anybody, right? I can trust you, right? Is it a Bin Laden thing? I'm your boy. That's me. Honey! Come here, meet Julio. He's from FedEx. Come here. Is that all you need to sign for a package? No, no, no. Julio, hang on a minute. My wife doesn't want to come because I do this all the time. Babe, please. He tells the story all the time. I just want to go to the delivery. It's okay. Hon, do you have the... Do the line. Rhymes with Mim Madden. I killed Bin Laden. Who is Bin Laden? Tell him who Bin Laden is. He doesn't care. No, he does. He just signed for the package. It's from groominglounge.com.
Please. Please. I have another one from Amazon.com. Actually, I have seven more from Amazon. Hang on. I need to run to my truck. Hang on. Hey, babe. Yeah. Why don't you ask Julio to stop doing bits about me while he's doing bits about me? What did you order? More face cream? Really? Julio, I'd say you're pretty spot on. Just keep doing bits. How dare you, Julio. I'm sorry. Would you sign, please? Also, apparently there was a huge sewage spill in Oceanside. Perfect. It's disgusting. It's repugnant. How did it happen? Where did it go? First of all, the city of Oceanside could be facing fines of up to $10 million after the sewage. I looked up and... Oh my God, he freaked me out. He's waving his arms. Pull the curtain back. Oh my gosh. I looked up and Jay was holding up a sign and it was the break sign with the time on it, but the time has already passed. Yeah, because I held it up like five minutes ago and you would not look at me. Nearly five and a half million gallons of sewage was leaked from the Buena Vista Creek last December from a broken pipe. It smells like carrots and throw up.

Okay, so we're going to be back on Monday, and then Woods and Jay will do a couple hours with us, and then they've got to head out. There's somewhere we have to be.
Monday. Happy birthday. You guys going to your own birthday parties that day? Yes. We can't say what they're doing, but they're doing something special. You'll know later. I'm going to do something different today that I've only done one other time ever, and that is I'm not going to play any music when I tell you my testimony today, but I'm going to give you my testimony, and it should be able to stand on its own. The reason that I do play music when I play music is because my story is difficult to tell. And so when I tell it with music, it usually makes me feel more comfortable. But my story is that I had a very dysfunctional childhood. When I was a kid, when I was five years old, I was sexually abused and it was something that I kept. hidden from my family, my parents. As a matter of fact, I gave my testimony on Easter, and it's the first time that my oldest brother knew that that happened to me. He didn't know. And I just took it for granted. I've told the story so many times on the air, but he'd never heard it, and he was affected by it. But I was very, very hopeless all through my teenage years and through my...
20s. And I had what I call an emotional scar. That was kind of an emotional scar for me. And as I got older, I started to drink. I did everything to quiet the feelings that I had of shame, of hurt, of sadness. And I did that until I was in my 30s. And when I got into my 30s, I was completely addicted to alcohol. I'd shake. I'd get the shakes. And I was really embarrassed of it. I was embarrassed that, and I also remember that I would go, sometimes I'd go to the gas station to put gas in the car, and I would see people around me, and I would actually think in my head that they were lucky because I thought to myself, I bet they don't have this issue in their life.
I bet that person, it could be anybody, and they'd be putting gas into a Toyota truck or something. I'd be looking at this person, and I'd think, I bet they're not going to go home and just drink until they get sick and then drink more. And that's where I used to be. And like I said, in my early 30s, I was at this point of just complete desperation, hopelessness and desperation. And out of hopelessness and desperation, I asked Jesus Christ to come into my life. And everything changed. Wasn't overnight. Happened over a period of time. But over this period of time, I started changing. And I got healthy. And he restored a relationship. Married my wife, who I'm married to now. He restored that relationship, which used to be a mess. And he made me better. And the one thing that...
that nobody could ever take away from me is that story. That story belongs to me. It's true. It's real. If anybody's listening and they're going through any kind of trial in their life or you feel hopeless or you feel desperate, I urge you to go to mikeyshow.com and at the top of the page, there's the word help. If you click on that, it gives you all kinds of resources to how you can get better. addiction, depression, eating disorders. It's all on there. I also put links to music, links to books, links to getting to where I am, how I did it. I always say that anger is hurt, sadness, and fear. And the reason that I say that is because there are some people who listen to me give my testimony and they get angry. And I just...
I ask you to explore that and ask yourself what part of it makes you hurt or makes you sad or causes there to be fear. I don't do it because I want to push it down your throat. I do it because I realize that there are people out there that are just like me, just like I used to be. And so I'm trying to give you a little bit of hope where there may be hopelessness. That's all. I play a song at the end of the show. And this is the song that I've played for years, played this song for years. Somebody mentioned to me the other week that they still hear that song. She was telling me the story, and her eyes fell to tears because they thought they were going to lose their son. And he was standing there. He had long hair, this little kid, standing right next to her. And she looked at him, and he was smiling at her. And he knew the song. And it's a song about hope. It's called Tunnel. And I always say...
Please really listen to the lyrics because it's so hopeful if you're hopeless. And lovely and talented Hillary's up next. Have a great weekend and we'll come back here on Monday and we'll do it all over. Mikey shows up.
