Nerves are on high for the golf game. The MTV movie award nominations get a big “GIT” from Woodsy. Sienna delves deep into the mythos of the Twilight series. San Diego is a miserable sports town. Lawrence Taylor merely pleasured himself with the 16 year old hooker so all’s good, right? New awesome high class literature bit “The Mikey Show Haikus” is debuted! The Kid blasts himself and the entire crew in a 5-7-5 hilarious throw down. LOB’s alarm clock plays in the background as Woodsy busts out a new one. Weird audio of burnt victim who was pals with Michael Jackson could only come from the Larry King show. Has any star ever faked their own death? Next we hear a ferocious debate over who was better and bigger; Elvis or MJ. I side with Pepper and Woodsy on this one (yeah it helps to know a little about music history too, whether or not you were alive when Elvis was, ok I’m rambling but I got into a heated argument with a M1 who was clearly in the MJ camp. Without Elvis there’d be no Beatles, case closed). The Geezer bandit joke by Jay Leno is an epic fail. Lauren points out that Elvis left us with many household quotes whereas Woods points out that MJ “beat it plenty”. News crews fight for best Plebian footage. How many layers does the LOB onion have? An Email about dating co-workers blows up into a big discussion about workplace lovebirds. Frankie and Susanna chime in. MC Mel Dog goes against company policy and gives a screaming Frankie purple nurples and a whole lotta bun squeezing! Is Paris Hilton attractive? Mikey’s 8th grade teacher calls in to discuss the Cinco de Mayo/American flag shirts debacle. Some M1s call in to defend the flag shirted kids. Big Mountain’s Quino stops by for an interesting interview. 9 marriage rules you should break are sure to upset Mikey, and they do.

The show opened with Mikey's golf outing plans and a bet with Woodsy and Jay over who would eat Indian food or veal at Hoolies. The crew then debated MTV Movie Award nominees, praised Robert Pattinson's rapping clip, and laughed at fans twirling bras during New Moon screenings. Later, Woodsy debuted his haiku segment, the team examined a Michael Jackson conspiracy theory, Arnold Schwarzenegger faced tough questions about California's budget, Mr. Mancias explained the Cinco de Mayo flag controversy, and the show closed with a lively debate over a list of marriage rules to break.

KBZT San Diego. The Lincoln Financial Media Station. The new home of The Mikey Show. FM 94.9. Let's do it. Get this thing going. I want the gold. Give me the gold. I want the gold. We're going to give you that right now. Only the best for you. The Mikey Show comes on. We will give you only the gold. That's right. I want to know where the gold is. It's coming. I want the gold. Give me the gold. I want the gold. You think that guy wants the gold? My feeling is, and it's not that he's not communicating it well, my feeling is he wants the gold. Guy wants the gold real good. I thought he was maybe looking for silver or something. Bronze. No. I want to know where to go. I know. I want the gold. I got you. Give me the gold. I want the gold. Thank you. Thank you very much. It's the morning of the Invitational. How do you feel about that? I didn't sleep a week. A lot of prayer about it for me, you know, just hoping I can hit a ball.
Off the tee. You know what I mean? The good thing is, you know what we should do, though? What? We should probably get some golf balls. Yeah, let's do it. Oh, wow. At some point. It's a great idea. At some point. Before the invitation, we should probably get some balls. Just probably strike some balls. Maybe you guys take the next break off. Me and Tiana will take care of things. Fine. That'd be great. We'll go to the range right now. Mikey's show is golfing out at Riverwalk Golf Course today. Raising a little money for charity. And it's going to be great. By great, I mean... Petrifying? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Funny. Five people on the Mikey Show. I'm the host of the program. My name is Mikey, and I'm 39. Woodsy is our sports guy. He's 34 years old. And everybody's looking sharp today because we've got to be seen by human beings today. Lauren O'Brien is the blonde girl over here to my right. She is 29 years old. Sienna's 25. Mom-to-be. She is our news girl. And Jay's our producer. 46 years of age. What does the prayer sound like about hitting a golf ball? Lord, let me not embarrass myself today. Please. Please. Even though, and I said this, even though I was a slacker and I didn't go one time to practice, please forgive that and let me hit that ball, please. And if you don't, I understand. I get it. If you don't let me, I understand. I was a dope. I didn't get out there one time. You know what I mean? So we'll see.
I'm going to try to hit a golf ball. Maybe we, you know what? Maybe you guys hit the golf ball and then wherever it lands, I'll, you know, I'll get out there and I'll give it a shot after that, wherever it goes. I'm trying to think, do you go first or do you go last? You're doing the scramble? We're doing a scramble. And I'm just trying to think where, what's going to be best for you? Maybe in the middle. Really? Maybe in the middle. You don't want to be first. First is nerve wracking. Of course. But then if you're last, then you feel like, you know, right fielder. Just rotate it out. We'll see. That's a good idea. The first tee is tough, though, because everybody's standing there watching. They're like, okay, go ahead and hit. Mike, you're going to do great. It's nerve-wracking. I'm nerve-wracked about it, and I've played a thousand times. Well, whoever hits, whoever can drive a ball the longest between Woods and Jay. We'll not have to pay off in a bet, but whoever can't will have to pay off in a bet tomorrow at our meet and greet at Hoolies. That's another thing that I'm going to vomit about. Tomorrow at Hoolies, either Woods will be eating Indian food or Jay will be eating veal. And he hadn't eaten veal or steak, for that matter, or meat for 22 years, Jay. That's brutal. I was beating myself up last night so hard. I was like, who makes a bet like that? Is that weird that 22 is my lucky number? Oh, what about that?
Is it weird that Indians are my favorite type of people? Last time Woodsy ate Indian food, he threw up. Yeah, and then threw his leftovers against the wall of the restaurant. Because he's so upset. Child. It's going to be tomorrow 5 to 7 out at Hoolies in La Mesa, so come on out and say hi to us. And even say hi now. I would love to say hello to you. We don't bite, and we just want to say... Hi. I want to hear the M1's call and wish Cubby good luck today. That's what I want to hear. Good luck on that course. Hey, all kidding aside, all joking and jest aside, it was a big deal. You've never been on a golf course? Uh-uh. This is like... You've never? Never. Where do you guys go practice? At a driving range. We did a golf tournament one time. You know, at the old station that I was at, we did a golf tournament, but I wasn't a golfer. All I did is ride around in a... Cart. You're the MC. He's got clubs. He's got balls. He's got shoes. I have a little tiny glove. Tiny glove. This is a big deal. You're like Neil Armstrong today. Yeah. And here's the thing, too, is that I'm really excited. I watch golf on TV now. Yeah. You're going to do great. Yeah.
This is not the pros. You're not going to be on TV. You're having fun with your boys. He's having a good time, right? Yeah. I'm going to call it right now. I'm going to call it that he sinks. He's probably going to sink like a 25-foot putt. Oh, was he? I swear. That's what happens in these things, bro. It does? Oh, yeah. All right. Some random dude gets up and nails some chip or some putt that's like, everyone's like, dude, it's the greatest. There you go. 570-1949 and text us 949mikey at gmail.com. The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards came out? The Movie Awards. The Movie Awards. Yeah. Okay. And guess who's in the lead? Any guesses? Iron Man. Movie nominations? Too early. Too early, I think. Iron Man 2? Or is it for 2009? Is that what Woods just said? I just said that. And I said too early. Oh, man. She just melted. You saw her go. I'm going to say Iron Man. You just saw her power down. That was good. She just powered right on down. Come on, guys. The Hangover. Yes. The Hangover. The best movie of last year. There you go. Yeah, they have six nominations. And following that, I thought you guys were going to guess Avatar or New Moon. Nerd-a-time. Oh, yeah, yeah. I would have thought New Moon, right? Yeah. No, New Moon was horrible. It was? I thought it was a big hit. The book is good.
That was a big hit. I watched it. I didn't really like it. No, I didn't either. It just confirmed my team Edward stance. That just happened. The first Twilight was the better. Did the Twilight fans reject that film and not think it was that great? Oh, no. They still love it. The hardcore ones will love it. Just because they see the guys in it. Yeah. But it was just cheesy. That's why I liked it. The whole thing was so cheesy. Yeah. But New Moon and Avatar got five nominations. Like I said, The Hangover got six. Best Movie, here are the nominees, Alice in Wonderland. Like I said, Avatar, New Moon, The Hangover, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Git. That's a lot of gits. A lot of them. Well, because Woodsy says he likes girls. I live in fantasy land, running around with hobbits. Here is Robert Pattinson. It's Robert Pattinson on the Twilight craze. It's weird. I think as we've been so central to the whole thing since the beginning. Now, does he have in the films, does he have an accent? No, he's an American accent. He does an American accent. It's Portland. Yeah, he does a Portish accent. Do you want to hear something really quick and how he learned his English accent as American? Watching Sesame Street. No, he wanted to be a rapper. He did? Yeah. And so he was rapping back in the day. That's how he learned. Boy. Oh, my God. We actually have a clip. Yeah, we have a clip of it. There he is.
It's on the... Is it? No, no, no, no, no. It's here. Oh, it is? Yeah, I brought it in. Okay, good. Of Robert Pattinson rapping? Yeah, it's Robert Pattinson. Oh, okay. Awesome. You ready to hear this? Yeah. All right, here we go. He's good. I just imagined him, like, in his, with his pale white skin. Yeah. On his back. Twinkling. Climbing up a tree. Sparkling. It started, really, when no one knew anything about it. Right, right. So now it does feel like you're at a kind of eye of the storm. I don't know. I still, to this day, can't really connect. Wrap your brain around it. Yeah, and it's a great position to be in because you can appreciate all these things. You can walk into a room and everybody's screaming. I don't know that he's going to be able to be a star outside of the Twilight movies because people think of him as that dude. He's Edward Cullen, right? He's Edward Cullen. He's already been a couple. He started in Harry Potter. You know that. He did? Mm-hmm. Hey, okay, so there's Edward Cullen, and then who's the other guy?
Jacob. Taylor Lautner, yeah. Okay, now Jacob, is he a good guy or a bad guy? He does bad things now, but he's, I don't know, he's not really a bad guy. No. He's kind of a good guy. Yeah. He's not a bad guy. There's the wolves and the vampires. Edward Cullen is a vampire, and Jacob transforms into wolves with his, like, brothers, and they kill vampires. But they kill them to protect the humans. All I could think of. when you were saying that. What? All I could think of is my very mature, serious wife. And I'm like, really? Because I didn't know that. You just told me that. And all I could see was her face and her blushing when you said that. Like, yes, that is what I like. Like, yeah, that's me. Yep, that's me. That's my stuff. That's what your wife is into, darling. It's funny because Taylor Lautner, the darker of the main guys on Twilight, he and his group of quote-unquote brothers are all like these
Teenage high school guys that are just ripped beyond belief. And their job is to transform into, like, these monster wolves. And they protect everyone. I wish I could have a YouTube video. And the YouTube video would be Lauren O'Brien, my wife, all the women that I know. My wife. Sienna, yeah, Jamie, Woods' wife. And all the YouTube video would be is edited together clips of video. of them reading the books at parts that affected them emotionally. Yeah. So that you could see their expression go... Or... Wow, look at him. You know, their faces as they read it. The books are like... Their spine, it's like a foot long. Yeah. They're huge. And I would knock it out in a couple days because I couldn't stop reading it. Yeah. And you finished the book. Yeah. I've never read them, but... I mean, I'm excited to see Eclipse. I never went and saw any of them in theater. I always waited until they came out on DVD, but. GIT. Yeah. The movies. Don't be jealous. Surprisingly, are very disappointing compared to the books. Maybe Rebecca envisions you transforming into a wolf. I don't know. Perhaps. I'll tell you what. Those wolves, the actors that play those wolves, make me feel like a real creep. My friend. Those are like 16-year-old hot guys. I'm like, oh, yeah. Look at that guy. My friend, who is 27 years old.
Sarah, sorry, I have to call you out. She went and saw New Moon in theaters. And her other friend that she went with told me that in the part where you first see Jacob's chest with his shirt off, she was like, like shrieked in the whole theater. The guy's like 15. I know. All these 30-year-old women. I know. Tell me about it. Yeah, twirling their bras in the movie theater. Throwing stuff at the screen. You know what that movie should be called? When Women Become Creeps. Yeah. It's a bunch of 32-year-old women standing up, twirling their bra. Yeah, baby. Come on, Jacob. It's funny. I feel old right now because looking through all of these nominations, I mean, like, Best Male Performance, it's like Channing Tatum, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Zac Efron. Like, I'm used to seeing John Travolta. These 30-year-old women all full of Chardonnay at the movie theater. A little boozy. Yeah, you know, the funny thing is my wife, who is 30, I don't know what to say, she's a little older than the kid, but she and all of her coogs went to the opening night, the showing at midnight, and they took a box of wine and hit a whip. Yes! That is amazing. That's hysterical. That's the best. What's that box of wine stuff called? Franzia. Franzia? Franzia. Oh, that is lovely. That is class.
You imagine you're in there in Twilight, all of a sudden you're like, and you're smelling like that sweet wine smell. People bring some crazy things into the movie theater. Yeah, they do. So weird. Anyway, so there's that. Did you give the other details of some of the other stuff that's big and nominated? Best female performance. Sure. Everyone's young. Let's see if I know any of this. Okay, you know one of them for sure. Amanda Seyfried, Dear John. Nope, don't know. She was the young, cute blonde girl from Mamma Mia. Emma Watson, Harry Potter. Know her. Kristen Stewart, New Moon. You know Kristen Stewart. I don't know her. I'm telling you, I cannot draw up an image. Don't know if she's blonde, redhead, brunette. Okay. Okay. What do you think of Kristen Stewart? I mean, sure, why not? You can visualize who that is. Yeah, she's all right. It's her performance in New Moons, Hannah. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. It was awful. It was painful. Yeah. It was just because she was such a cheesy girl. She's an over-actor in that movie. Like, her heart was broken for, like, six months. But if you...
If you could just. I think if I just. She was. She was. So bad. I mean, she was just like heartbroken over Edward leaving. It was like, come on. You can leave the house. I'll see it now just to see that. Just to see if that's a deal. Zoe Saldana. Avatar. I think that's her name. Never heard of her. You know this one. Sandra Bullock. Know that lady. Best male performance, Channing Tatum, Dear John. You know Channing Tatum. I do not know. I'm a friend of the kid's family. What? Yeah, my brother used to date Jenna Dewan. Oh, that's right. He's not part of your family? I said he's a friend of the family. He's a friend of the family, and I do remember Woods showed me this person that you're talking about on his computer screen. Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter. Oh, yeah. I do. That's Harry Potter himself. Harry Potter. King of the nerds. Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, both New Moon, and Zac Efron, 17 again. I thought that movie was out like three years ago. Yeah, me too. Do you want me to know best breakout star? That's a good one. Oh, I have a guess. The chick that was in Precious. Yeah.
There you go. I know her because I've seen her in the trailer. I can never pronounce her name. She was in a trailer? No. Previews. Oh, I thought you saw her in a trailer. I wasn't into Precious. It was too depressing. I'm doing her workout program. That was me. That was me. Really? Is that how you're going to start the day, Jay? Oh, this is a good one. Anna Kendrick, Up in the Air. That young girl in Up in the Air with George Clooney. Hot. Really? She's so mousy. She's a mouse. That woman is in the movie for four and a half minutes. No, the young girl. The young girl that's like... Following George Clooney around? Yeah, and she's not in it very much, is she? She's a big part of it. The second biggest character. I thought that the girl that he's hitting on that he meets at the airport. No, she's like a third or fourth. A tertiary character. What they call a tertiary character. Yeah, wow. Who else? Chris Pine, Star Trek. You know Chris Pine. Yeah, he looks like a pretty cool guy. The worst thing about when someone knows someone very well is when somebody doesn't know them. Yeah. And the person is so well known to the person saying it, they say, you know who they are. You know who they are. Chris Pine's been on the cover of a lot of magazines. That I read, like Glamour and Cosmo. Yeah, I'm sure he's... Us. Teen Beat. Teen Beat. I want to say that he's been on Rolling Stones. I thought it was a woman. I didn't even know. A nun's life. Didn't know. A nun's life. Might as well. Highlights. Yeah.
Highlights. Highlights. I don't know who it is. Okay. Quentin Aaron, the blind side. Nope. No clue. He's a football player on the blind side. Haven't seen the movie. Me neither. This one is going to win. I'm calling it right now. Go ahead. Zach Galifianakis, the handover. Love him. Yeah, that is. He's fantastic. He's brilliant. And then the last one is Logan Lerman, who is from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. What the heck is that? Movie that none of us saw. So those are some of the big. MTV Movie Award nominees. Oh, there you go. Just saw a blurb up on TV that San Diego is number five in the nation's most miserable sports cities. Wow. That's phenomenal. Congratulations, San Diego. Are we surprised? Are you kidding me? No, I'm not surprised. What does that mean? I wonder. If I were to take a gander, I think what it means is that we are not a city like Boston. Why would you say Boston first? Well, because there is a book called Faithful. And Boston is very well known for their very, very passionate fans. Drunken idiots. Yeah, they are. Celtics, Patriots. They really are. Yeah, they are. You've got to hand it to that city that they are very passionate about their sports franchises. San Diego.
You know, not so much. I mean, there are cities that have worse teams that don't do very well, but I think we're on that list because we tend to do pretty well, but then we just mess up at the end every time. And so it's like, dude, come on. That is 100% true. Chargers, have the Chargers ever won a, they've never won a Super Bowl. Never won a Super Bowl. Have the Padres ever won a World Series? Don't get me lying. I don't know if they have. I don't think so. Let me see if I can. Back in like the Garvey days, no? I don't think so. I don't think so either. What about San Diego's basketball team? No, we have not. I know for a fact we have not won a championship. Never had a championship. No, never had one. We have not. That's tough. Well, then that's, there's your reason. You win a title, things change. A whole lot of letdowns. I think it has to do with the fact that San Diego is a very active town. And you got a lot of people doing their own sports, not so much worried about watching sports. I don't buy it. There's a lot of places that are active. but are still in on their sports teams. It's a whole cliche that everybody's heard a million times. We have stuff to do. That's the deal. We have stuff to do. Yeah, you have a couple beautiful ballparks you can go watch games at. You know what? We'd rather go to the beach today. Great. Hey, listen, I'm not saying that I feel this way. That's the answer to it, which is sad. Oh, this is weird. Amber DuPont's mother met with John Gardner.
The killer of her daughter. What is this about? So insane. I guess she's been pressuring him to meet with her before his sentencing, which is on Friday. And two weeks ago, he told a local TV station that he was willing to meet with the families of both of his murder victims. So two days ago, Amber's mom met with John Gardner's mother outside of the courthouse. Really? On Tuesday. And yesterday, she sat down with John Gardner himself for 30 minutes yesterday afternoon between 3.30 and 4 p.m. That's chilling. She confronted John Gardner's mother. And, you know, I read something, too, and she said, you need to give up some of your visitation time so that I can have visitation time. I think that that's... I mean, could you imagine? I got to process that. I have chills. I know. That's just so heavy. I would want nothing to do with him. Would you not? But also the thing is, is if you think about it and you had the opportunity to sit down one-on-one and talk to him, you would want to ask questions that... Would you really want to know the answer to them? I don't know that you're necessarily asking questions more than you're getting a lot off your chest. Yeah, yeah. And probably some questions. I would want to know questions. Why, why, why? Why would you do this to us? Was she like in pain? No, man, you don't want to know that. But as a mother, do you want to know that answer? But like, how do you not ask it? What if the answer is yes? Well, I know. That's why it's like, do you even want to have that opportunity? Closure.
Men and women, I don't know. You too, Woods? Yeah, but the difference in me and her is I would have had a shank hidden in my skin that he would have gotten aware of. The majority of people would have. Yeah. That would have been the difference. She'd probably want to know maybe her last words, things like that. Oh, no way. It's brutal. Brutal. But I mean, what a mother to be able to do that. Amber's mom, Carrie, said that she was satisfied with all of the answers he gave her and that he was very nervous but respectful towards her. Oh, my goodness. I can't believe that. Oh, that is heavy. She's a strong, strong woman. Strong. That's tough. Let's see. Somebody's calling in. This is M1 Brandon from Lakeside. You there, Brandon? That's Landon. Yeah, how you doing? Good. You're calling about the sports attendance, right? Yeah. What do you think it is? You know, I'm a big sports guy, and I've always had a thought on the San Diego. being kind of lower on the sports fan cities. I think it's because we've got a lot to offer in this city. You know, you've got the desert out east, you've got the ocean out west, and if you're into the snow sports, you go up to Big Bear Mammoth and do all that stuff, so we don't necessarily have to focus on our sports teams. Unfortunately, I'm a big baseball guy. I played baseball my whole life, and I even find myself barely following the podcast. So I just think there's too much to do here as opposed to those cold-weather cities where it's, you know, you've got in the summer you've got your baseball, in the winter you've got your football.
And so that's all they have to look forward to. You know, Landon, in Green Bay, there's not a lot of choices besides the Packers, you know, in terms of things to do. There's not a beach to go to. There's not, you know, a desert to go drive your ATVs around. There's not a lot of stuff to do. You guys ever hear of a place? It's here in America. It's called New York City. You ever hear of that place? No. He's been waiting for us to say how great they are. No, no, no, not at all. There is nowhere in this world where there is more to do. than New York City. Nowhere. I challenge you, I defy you to tell me where there is a city where you can do more than New York. Because there's not. Think about this though, Woodsy. In terms of that, it's not recreational. What it is in New York City is it's touristy. So how many times do people from the Bronx want to go look at the Statue of Liberty? You're right. It's there. But besides that. But I'm saying that's a cop-out, dude. No, it's not a cop-out. There's so much to do in New York. Recreationally. It's a sheer number of people as well. In New York, there's so many more people than there are in San Diego. Because we're not going to SeaWorld here.
You know, like the locals, it's not like we're going, yeah, we're going to go look at the USS Midway. That's not what we're doing. You got Jones Beach. You can go to Jones Beach. There's a ton of stuff. Yeah, but it's a pain to get to. It's easy to get to Yankee Stadium. How about this, Woodsy? What about this too? What? Your Yankees? I'm not even talking about the Yankees. I'm talking about New York. Okay. Let's talk Giants. Talk Giants. Talk Jets. They were in the Super Bowl. But those are, that's, first of all, Giants is in New Jersey, so you're getting a lot of people. Yeah, but the New York Giants. I get the spirit of what you're saying. The New York Jets, the New York Giants. But I'm saying, you're getting a lot of people from New Jersey, I'm from New Jersey, that are like, no, New York City is more of a hassle to get into and do things. We're going to go to the game. Not a whole lot else. You can't go to the shore all year round. Now check this out, though. Isn't it also because those towns have winning franchises? That could have something to do with it, too. The Giants win, man. Look at Lions fans. The Chargers win. And the Chargers games, you told me they're sold out. But, I mean, like you said, there's only 16 of them. And there's, what, eight home games. They win. And when they don't win?
Then we got blackouts. Does this town shut down like Dallas does when the Chargers lose? Like, Dallas shuts down. When the Chargers lose? No, no. Like, Dallas shuts down when the Cowboys lose. So when the Chargers lose, is it the same here? Or are people like, oh, well. No, it doesn't shut down. You can tell a difference, especially when you're over near the stadium. Yeah. But, no. No, I mean, the people. Like, the people are, like, miserable on Monday. Yeah, that's Philly, too. Philly, yeah. The mood totally depends on the sports team. Yep. Kids picking the music today. Allison Chains, your decision. So check this out. Wait till you hear what Lawrence Taylor's defense is going to be. I would give you a million guesses and you're probably not going to get it. Listen, I don't want to waste one more second. You're right. You're going to trip out when you hear what Lawrence Taylor's defense is. I will tell you this. If you got little ears in the car, it's pretty adult content. What's coming up? Yeah, earmuffs. Because it's pretty adult content, this Lawrence Taylor story. So, what you got, Woodsy? We're going to get to that LT story here in a second, but if there are any Giants fans out there, you've officially been owned by the Padres. They beat you again last night, and they beat one of your best, Matt Cain, got beat by the Pods. Every night it's a different guy for the Padres coming through, and last night it was catcher Jorvit Torrealba, one of Mikey's countrymen, who knocked in two runs on clutch hits as the Padres won 5-2 over their division rivals. Okay, they're two and a half games up. They're in first place. I'm going to say it.
It's feasible that they can win this division. The Dodgers are in the tank. They're tanking. The Giants are owned by the Padres. They can win this division. Don't we have 130 more games? They can win it. They can win it. They need to go get another bat in the outfield. Actually, they don't even need another pitcher. They're looking good. Talk to us about this in two months. I know, right? I'm going to say it again. They can win this division. They can win it. Now, you've got the Dodgers. July 13th. Say it again. The Dodgers are coming to town this weekend. Let's not have that stadium be packed with blue. Let's make it right. It's going to be, too, if we don't do something about it. Yeah, when the Cubs come here, when the Red Sox come here, when the Dodgers come here, unfortunately. But I like it, Woods. Let's get out there. Let's get out there, dude. Support. I think I might go Saturday. I'll go with you. Let's do it. Saturday. I think I might go. I think I'm going to do it. Why not? Notice how quiet I'm staying. I want to. I want to do a thing. I do, but I just, you've noticed. Todd's a Dodger fan. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Mikey, you want to go to the game? You want to go to the game with me? Mike, I got great tickets. I got a connection over there. He gives me really good seats. No? You don't want to go with the kid? Do you have a connection with good seats? Uh-huh. I'm totally in then. Perfect. When we talked last week about Lawrence Taylor and his arrest for third-degree rape from a 16-year-old,
There's been an update from his defense. He actually, they say he didn't have actual intercourse with the girl. He just, well, had some fun with himself. Right. I guess. In her presence. Is the way that you could put that sweetly. While she was there. While she was there. And my question, does that really make it any better? No, but what it does is it takes the word rape out of the deal for him. Yeah. Which means that he's guilty. I mean, what would that make him guilty of? I don't know. Indecent exposure, maybe? No, no, no. It would still make him guilty of solicitation. Solicitation of a prostitute. I mean, she's young. But isn't it still lewd? Lewd conduct. Lewd and lascivious behavior. Lascivious behavior with a minor, right? Yeah. I guess. He would still have to register. Yeah, for sure. I've got some other breaking news, too. Tiger Woods has revealed what's wrong with his neck. What is it? It's sore. Really? Yeah. It's got a pain in the neck. It's sore. There's some inflammation. They took a picture of it. They said, yeah, it's sore. So there's nothing like legitimately wrong with it? It's like a little bit of inflammation that a little medicine and rest will cure. When you say a little medicine, by a little medicine, I assume you mean Advil. Advil and rest is what's going to help Tiger. He's hoping to defend his title.
At the memorial. What a baby. I know. On June 3rd in Dublin, Ohio. Is it wrong for me to ask this question? Okay, I'm going to ask. Ask it. It's so hard. In my head, I was like, is this wrong if I ask this? Because when I saw that he dropped out on the seventh hole, it was a terrible shot. And I don't think he was doing that great. Is that the truth? It's the truth. Is it possible? No, that's not possible. That's not possible, is it? That's not possible, is it? Is that possible? Did he throw a little tantrum? I did. He got really upset, and he was like, forget it. I don't want to play anymore. Done with you, jerk. I'm taking my ball. I'm going home. Yeah, I'm out. You never know. No, no. You never know. I'm a bad person. No. I think everybody thought the same thing, man. They did? I think so. Okay. And here's an interesting update to a story we talked about all week. Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing will get to keep.
his NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. After all, he had tested positive for a fertility drug, which is also used to stimulate testosterone in your body after you've taken steroids. They're going to let him keep his award. Still suspended the first four games of next year, though. Wow. And did you guys know the NHL playoffs are going on? Flyers. I didn't really either. Yeah, I was going to go. But the defending Stanley Cup champions were knocked off. by the Montreal Canadiens last night, and the defending Stanley Cup champions would be the Penguins. Canadiens. Yeah, the Canadiens. Penguins? Last night. Yeah, Penguins. What about the Flyers? How are they doing? And the Flyers forced to game seven against those Bruins. I'm going to pull for Lauren in this corner since the Bruins are from Bean. I'm going to pretend like I'm a fan all of a sudden. Bean Town. All of a sudden. We'll see how that turns out. And finally, the Seattle Mariners have rallied around Ken Griffey Jr. regarding the allegation that he was sleeping in the clubhouse during a game. After the Mariners beat the Orioles the other day, the Mariners pitcher Cliff Lee stepped to the podium. He was going to address the media. And he stopped. He said, I can't talk to the media until that guy from the Tacoma News Tribune is out of the room. Really? So they booted that reporter that broke that story. Really? How do you feel about that? I feel like there's at least a couple of guys on that team that ain't so, you know, supportive. There's at least a couple of guys on that team that were like, I got a story for you. Just don't say it was me.
Guess who was sleeping back in the clubhouse? Now, what do you think, though, about Cliff Lee going, yeah, I'd like to address the media and then saying, but get that guy out of here. Is that good? I mean, he's backing his teammate? Yeah. I mean, listen, I'm all behind them backing their teammate. I'm all behind that. But there's a couple of them that weren't backing their teammate. Yeah. A couple of them squealed to the media and said, hey, Ken was sleeping back in junior. He's catching a little cat nap. Catching 40 weeks. Did you guys print that? Shocking. So that's Woods on sports, pal. But I am, I mean, I do think it's cool that they're supporting their guy. I guess. A couple of them aren't, though. And they don't want to say who they are. Yeah. I mean, the media is the media. You can't try to censor it yourself if you're going to have a press conference like that. I know. Just get that one guy out of there. Woodsy is easily one of the funniest human beings I've ever met in my life. I appreciate it. It's the truth, okay? Oh, boy. Do I hear a however in there? This is going to be weird. I don't know if you hear a however. I don't know. What am I hearing? Woods has his back to Mikey right now. Woods, he came to me about a month and a half ago and asked me if he could do this bit, and I said, absolutely not. He's like, dude.
I got something. It is brilliant in our meeting. It came to me in a dream. And I said to him. This is going to be awesome. I said, Woodsy, I said, that may be, you know, it's kind of smart humor, you know? It's pretty smart humor. And he goes, dude, I'm telling you, it's great. And I said, I don't really get it, you know? I don't necessarily get it. And he goes, just trust me on this, okay? Trust me. Just trust the kid. It's called Mikey Show Haiku. Haiku. I can't believe this is happening right now. Like the poem Haiku. Comedy for the English major. Now, he is an English major. He's very smart. He's real smart, but this one I thought, man, you may be outsmarting everybody with this. Everyone's heard of a haiku, but you're like, wait, which one is that again? Thank you. I've heard of it, but I'm not really sure what it is. I'll tell you. It's a three-line poem, and there is a structure to it. The first line has five syllables, the second has seven, and the third has five. Five, seven, five. Kind of like bread meet bread. There you go.
Are they supposed to be funny or do they rhyme? No, it can be anything. Okay. And so would you like to hear a haiku? Yes. It's a haiku. You've written some? I wrote five. You wrote five. I wrote one about each person on the show. Including yourself. Including myself. Yes. Can we hear Woods' first? Want to hear mine first? Yeah. Sure. Let's break the ice that way. That's a good move. That's a good move. Now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. Another. Please call him the kid. The first one. Because he surely does so. He has a crustache. Wait, that was it? Wait, I thought that was the intro. Wait, start it again. This is okay. Ready for the haiku. And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. For the first. Please call him the kid. Because he surely does so. He has a crustache. Where's the crickets? No, I kind of... Listen, I get it. He has a crustache. What in the world? And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. He's like MacGyver, but with weirder hair and clothes. He carries duct tape. Guess who that's about. What? Nicely. Okay. Let's get them all. I'm excited.
And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. She has giant jugs, but she lives in a bubble. The kid calls her Red. The kid calls her Red. And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. We call her Pepper. She bathes in grain and barley. Her shirts are tie-dye. And sweet. Very deep. Okay. Ready for the Cubs. Now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. Tattoos cover his body. They call him Cubby. This is a defining man in my career. Thank you. You wrote all of them? I wrote those. Did it take you weeks or what? No, it took me like five minutes. Weird. Maybe the best production music I've ever heard in my life. Ever. The Karate Kid. It's hysterical. Thank you. A little proud man.
Woods is ridiculous. I had to hear it. Yeah. I had to hear it. And now you like it. I like it. What's your favorite? Which one of those? Which one of those? I love yours. I love the crust ash. The crust ash bit. I love the crust ash. It's funny. I'm all in on Sienna. Oh, Sienna's. She has big jugs. Sienna's is pretty funny. But she lives in a bubble. Now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. She has giant jugs, but she lives in a bubble. The kid calls her red. 5701949. I want listener input. I want feedback. Let's get feedback. When you were writing these words, were you laughing out loud? I was laying in bed with my wife and I was crying. And she's like looking at me and she's like, it's pretty funny. And then what sold me was I brought him in and Hanson was voicing him.
Yeah. Yesterday. And he was reading them and he was dying laughing. And I was like, okay, I get it. Yeah. He loved it. Hanson loved it. And by we, we mean I. Yeah, we and me. I mean, by we, I mean me and Hanson. That's it. It's a radio genius. That was a genius. Let's see what's happening on the phone lines here. Such a genius. There's not one. 570. Really? Yeah. I want to hear listeners come up with haikus for us too. 570-1949. Call and support your boy. Come on now. Tell us your feedback. Give us your feedback. Not one phone line ringing. 949mikey at gmail.com. Right now, you M1s. Look at Woodsy staring at the phone lines. He's staring at the phone lines. Come on now. Somebody's got to get my back, dude. That was so good. We got a call. We got a fight. It's probably bookworm. The only other person in our audience that understands what a haiku is. I know what a haiku is. Are you in our audience? Yep. And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. He's like MacGyver, but with weirder hair and clothes. He carries duct tape. Genius! The phones are ringing now. Are they ringing? Oh, yeah, they are. Every phone line's lit up now. Yes. Let's hear it. Every phone line is lit up. Let's see. M1 Sam I Am.
Sam, I am. Are you there, Sam? I am from Lemon Grove. Yes, I am. How's it going, Mikey? Pretty good. What do you think? I love the high food. I was eating some chocolate. Woodsy, you may have a hit on your hands, dude. I think so. You may have a runaway hit of the summer. Now, be honest, by the way. Yeah. That means call and say you hate it. I'm just kidding. 570-1949 or text us. 949mikey at gmail.com. The production makes it. I love it. The music makes it. It just killed me. Got a text that says they were really funny. Thank you. Let's see. Is that from woods at mikey.com? It's from Jamie. That's from Jamie. M1 Jamie. Jamie at teamwoods.com. M1 Jessica and La Mesa. What did you think? What did you think, Jessica? You guys had me laughing, and I don't have a window tint, so people were looking at me. There you go. There you go. Thank you for making my day. I like it. It just killed me. There you go. Thank you, Jessica. M1 Elroy from IB, what did you think? I love them. I love them. You know what? I was inspired, and I got one for Woods. Yes. Go ahead. 575.
Yeah, it's got to be 5-7-5. You know that, right? He knows. Oh, you know that. You know that. I'll tell you what. I'm even going to give you some music to go along with it, okay? Word. Go ahead. Don't hold that against him. Yeah! There you go. There you go. Thank you. Thank you very much. He's right on point. Thank you very much. I like his IQ. Woodsy, I stand corrected. Thank you very much. It's a great bit, dude. Thank you. It's a great bit. Thank you. It's a great bit. So happy. I've been pitching this thing for two months. I know it. And I was like, all right. All of us, though. Let's do it. Let's hear it. I beat everybody in the room down. I'm like, you guys, it's going to be funny. They're like, oh, my God. Once you played the music, I think we were like, oh, maybe that makes it better. It's getting better. M1 Robert from North County. Yeah, I'd have to give a solid B on those high cues. Thank you, brother. There you go, dude. It's getting better, too. I like it. Thank you, dude.
I don't know, Woodsy. I'm getting the feeling people dig it. Thank you. I'm really getting the feeling people dig it. That's what I'm here for, dude, to try to make people laugh. M1 Sailing Widget said, I was out until I heard Giant Jugs. So there's the lowest common denominator right there. But hey, you know what? Whatever works. Mikey, it's Adam from Evans Tire. Hope everything is well. Love the new show and love the haikus. God bless. M1 Kaz. Love it. Let's see. Mikey, really like that bit. Can't wait to hear some more. Please don't make that a get. Yes. That's M1 Pro Tech. They're loving it. They are loving it. Let's see. I haven't got one negative comment yet. I take negative two, man. You know, if it sucks, it sucks. Just tell me. Let's see. The kid rules. Nice haikus. Let's see. I didn't even crack a smile. Oh, perfect. What's a haiku? That's M1 PFA. Okay, PFA. Haiku's one word. That's a haiku. 570-1949. M17 up for Mira Mesa. What'd you think? I love it, and I got another response in haiku form. Yes. Perfect. Let's do it. You want music? You want music? You know that. Let me give you some music here. Go ahead. The kid has gone mad. He spits out his nasty chew. That cup is filthy. Yes. There you go.
There you go. They're getting it. They're getting it. It's a haiku nation. I love it. Let's see. I got some new pamphlet music, too. I love it. There it is. Oh, yeah. That's the topper there, man. I feel like I'm getting, like, I need a massage right now. M1 Chris from Oceanside. Hey, what's up, guys? What do you think? Oh, dude, was he? I'm all in, man. That a boy. I'm telling you, dude, the bromance is just getting stronger. He's a married man. Love you guys. Thank you, dude. Let's see. M1 Sanjaya, what did you think? What up, dude? I like Mikey's, dude. You like that? Let's hear Mikey's again. Mikey's is good. I like that one, too. All right, let's hear it. Little Brown Man. Little Brown Man. And now it's time for another Mikey Show haiku. Tattoos cover his body. They call him Cubby. We should have those as one of our rejoiners coming back from commercial break. Just all five of them. Yeah, that works. Back to back. In fact, we were a little bit low with J's. Maybe we just do that. Haikus. Yeah, we just have haikus for J. I could literally write haikus all day long. It's like one of my favorite things. Try and write one right now. I could do it. I'll do one about the whole show in its entirety. That's what I was thinking. Yeah. Do one about the whole show.
This is happy. By the way, not surprisingly, there's a new bizarre Michael Jackson story out there. And when I say bizarre, I mean, well, there's a whole group of people that think that Michael Jackson is still alive. And they think that Larry King interviewed him last night. What? And I have audio of the person that they interviewed. No way. Now, I'm going to tell you that I don't think that I'm nutso. But for, I'm just giving you a real number. For one and a half seconds, I actually considered it. 1,001. And then I was like, well, that's ridiculous. You remember that video that came out, like, what, six months ago or something of Michael Jackson? And it was apparently him in the tunnel after the funeral or the big memorial. Right. And it showed him getting out of an SUV and running and hiding. Same stuff happened when Elvis died. Well, I'll tell you what. That was my first instinct. I'm like, what better way to be like, leave me?
There sure would have been an awful lot of people from the city of Los Angeles that would have had to have participated in said idea. People from the coroner's office, people for a lot of tax dollars. And to put the kids through that. Of course. Of course. But we'll play you the audio and you decide for yourself next. Let your voice be heard on The Mikey Show now. Call 570-1949 or shoot him a text. 949mikey at gmail.com. This is The Mikey Show on FM 94.9. Dude, Cesar, those commercials are hilarious, brother. Do you really like them, compa? Do you really think the güeros get them, though? I don't know if they get it, pero me los lavas cada día, brother. Te los lavas todo el día. When I was in last time, I had the Yucatecos and the carnitas. The carnitas. Do you like the Yucatecos? Oh, I love the Yucatecos. They were the bomb. Next time, you make sure you try the chicken a la suya. It's her take on chicken. Chicken mole, you have to try it. It's green from the Guerrero State. Chicken mole, spicy, sweet. Hopefully it's like mama's because you know what? I like my mole. Dude, they don't call us mama testa for nothing. You got to try them. It's just like your mama. They are awesome. Cesar, ¿qué dices, hermano? Bueno, ¿qué estás haciendo aquí? Okay, I'm ready. What's my line? Can you say it's a wrap?

And now it's time to wake up. You ready? I wrote one about the whole show. Let's hear it. Give me a repod. Start me over.
The Mikey Show rules. If you don't like us, please get. We will wear your skin. Oh, yes. I enjoy that. Oh, my gosh. I'm glad. They're calling in to let people know. They're calling in to let us know what they thought of the new Mikey Show Haiku. M1 Super Mario from Temecula. Hello, Mikey. What's up, dude? Did you like the Mikey Show Haiku? Classic, man. Classic. Thank you, dude. Awesome. All right, let's hear it. All right, let me start the music again. Here we go. A debutante from La Jolla. She always says, Mom! Oh, no! Did that work? Was that 575? She's a spoiled brat. That's eight on the second line. Spoiled little brat knows how to do a haiku, my friend. That's right, dude. Better learn to go back to third grade. Let me tell you something. That's 575. I'm good. Spoiled little brat's eating some cheese that looks so good to me right now. String cheese. Do you have more?
I don't. I have some cranberry applesauce. And she ain't no spoiled little brat, pal. Thank you. Let me tell you something. She introduced me to peasant food from England, and I loved it. Apparently, penguins are the poor man's cookie, and I love them. Let me tell you something. They're also the fat man's cookie, because I devoured a couple of those yesterday. They're so good. Killed it. Absolutely killed it. Mikey's show is myself. I am the brown man behind the microphone. My boy, Woodsy. A handsome devil sitting across from me right now. And Lauren O'Brien. It's a good-looking blonde girl sitting over here. How you doing? It's a gorgeous red over here to my left. Her name's Sienna. And that beautiful sandy blonde-haired guy over there in the next room is Jay. Stop it. Best phone screener we've ever had, by the way. Chris. There's Chris. All right, this guy is the man. Can I just say what he did for us today? He's really good. I'm going to tell you on the air. I'm not kidding. He's the best. That guy, he's really a piece of money. He gets after it. He gets after it. And he brought a bag full of British treats, including a new pack of penguins. He washed Lauren's car. Yeah. I know. And shined Mikey's shoes. Yeah. He brought me my robes. He made me a chair to sit in. Yeah. He's awesome. The chariot that I normally sit in.
Mike Gardner called him sick. He actually came and watered the lawn. You're talking about me now, though. You're talking about me now. He changes, what's his spit cut? He does. There you go. He's like a NASCAR pit crew. M1 Castillo from Escondido. What's up, dude? Hey, man. I'm taking my son to school this morning, and I saw the Mikey Show advertisement on the North County Transit bus this morning. Nice, dude. Nice. Love it. Thank you, bro. You're welcome, man. Thank you for letting us know about it. We got our meet and greet tomorrow night. You want to meet us? We're going to be out tomorrow at Hoolies in La Mesa. And we'll be out there from 5 to 7. And there was not enough reason for you to go out there and get to meet us and get the new sticker and all that stuff. How about the fact that either Woods is going to be eating Indian food, which the last time he did made him puke and he threw it against the wall. Yes, he did. Child. Either that is going to happen or Jay is going to be eating veal, which he hasn't eaten meat. In 22 years. And if you're able to grow a mustache, it's Mustache May. Mustache May. If you can grow a mustache overnight, do it. Mustache May is ending at midnight tomorrow for me. I'm dying. I'm dying. It's killing me. You're going to shave the beard off by the meet and greet, right? I think I'm going to let the whole thing flow. If only Jay could win the contest, he would. Because he has full handlebars right now. It looks rad.
Okay, so let me give you this strange story, this Michael Jackson story. There is a guy that was burnt his entire body, and you know what happens when that goes on. It's really sad, man. I mean, it just, your skin actually melts, okay? Now, this man claims to be named David David, okay? And went on Larry King, claims to be a friend of Michael Jackson's. Now, really what you have to do is you've got to see the video. And we will post the video on MikeyShow.com within the hour. You can view it for yourself and tell us what you think. But here's the audio of this man speaking to Larry King. And what I want you to keep in mind is that people are saying that this is in actuality Michael Jackson. Some conspiracy theorists are saying that this is actually Michael Jackson in a disguise.
and that he faked his own death so that he could get out of the public limelight and lead a quote-unquote normal life. And Dave Dave, yes, that's his name, Dave Dave. He was David Rothenberg. He was set on fire in 1983, suffered, as you can see, terrible scars. Michael Jackson befriended him and paid for a lot of his surgeries. Why Dave Dave? Well, to liberate myself. From the confines of my father's criminality. He caused the... Upon the first hearing of his voice. Do any of you guys go, that sounds like Michael Jackson putting on a voice? No. I don't really either. Not at all. Fire? Yeah. He is a criminal and he caused all this. To free myself of his name and his legacy, I decided to... Become my own person through changing my name. The only time I thought it kind of did is when he said, uh. So when he would just do that noise? When he was like, uh. Michael Jackson befriended him and paid for a lot of his surgeries. Why Dave Dave? Well, to liberate myself from the confines of my father's criminality. He caused the fire? Yeah. He is a criminal and he caused all this.
There when he died? Yeah, I mean, I guess that was the only time. I don't think it sounds anything like Michael Jackson. It's almost like someone trying to sound like Michael Jackson. Overdoing it a little bit. So you think he's doing a thing where he's pretending to be, he's pretending to be somebody that's pretending to be somebody pretending to be Michael Jackson. Yeah. I think it's Dave Rosenberg pretending to be Dave Dave. Could be Dave Rosenberg pretending to be Dave Dave who's pretending to be Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson. There's a lot of pretending going on. Yeah. It makes sense in Michael Jackson's world. If I was still here, I would be like, you people are crazy, man. Oh, he's going to sneeze. Uh-oh. Cover it up. Cover your mouth. I love the Michael Jackson sneeze. You got a little something in your beard. You got a little something going on. Excuse me. Sorry. A little cold there, Mike? A little bit. Oh. I'm now going to be, I would like for you to refer to me as Michael Michael. Michael Michael. Motorcycle. Nope. They did the same thing with Elvis, you know. Yeah. Of course. Jim Morrison, they said, faked his own death. I wonder what that bit's about. I wonder if anybody's ever actually done it.
No. Anybody famous? Tupac. They said it was Tupac. I kind of believe the Tupac one. Come on. I think he's alive. Yeah, those 15 bullets missed his vital organs. Right. He skirted off into the knife. Pictures of him keep coming out. There was pictures of him in New Orleans like a year ago. It was Tupac. Really a jazz fest? Is that what he was doing? No, he was in a bar. Having some Creole food. He was in a bar. He was in a bar? Yeah. It was Tupac, I'm telling you. That's so goofball to me. That's so dumb. There's been changes. You know what I want to know? I want to know what causes that. Is that like a psychological thing where we don't want them to be gone so bad that we'll be willing to accept it there? I guess. Is that why? Because we miss Elvis so much? No. I think that was probably the bit when Elvis died. He was such an icon that people could not accept it. No way. He's not gone. No. He's loving me tender. He's loving me tender still. There's nobody. I mean, nobody's bigger than Elvis. Nobody. Nobody. Michael Jackson? No. Hell no. Elvis. You think? I think Michael Jackson's. I believe Michael Jackson was a bigger star than Elvis Presley. I think so, too. I don't think so. Yeah, 100%. The king of rock and roll, not the prince of pop. There are so many caricatures of him. The king of pop. No. The king of rock and roll. But he was the king of pop. Michael Jackson was famous.
Since he was five. It's an adult film or something. I saw it. Oh, dear. Oh, wow. I think Elvis was called the king first and then Michael Jackson self-proclaimed. Self-proclaimed. Kind of like the Red Sox Nation. Something like that. Is that right? Kind of like the kid. 570-1949. Who's the biggest star? Elvis or Michael Jackson? How many lamps and, like, impersonators? And clocks and memorabilia. There's a whole city invented because of Elvis. Have you ever heard of Neverland Ranch? Hello. Yeah, that's his little porn hub that he built. Oh, stop it with that. His creepy little llama infested. His own little fiefdom. Yeah, his little fiefdom. Man, babe, did not be on water. I'm glad L.O.B. and I agree on something for once. Whatever. Elvis. MJ. All right, who's the bigger star? Born in Memphis. Who's the bigger star, Elvis or Adam Lambert? Adam Lambert! Duh. Glam squad. Glam Squad represent. I don't think I've ever said those words before. Write that down. How dare you? How dare you? Glam Squad represent. And Mikey. Glam Squad represent. Write it down. He is from San Diego. Maybe you don't tell me what to do. Maybe you get. I think Michael Jackson's a bigger star. Go to your mind. All right. Let me give my...
I'll give you my bit, and then you tell me why I'm wrong. Okay. Michael Jackson has had more number one hits. Michael Jackson. You're pulling stuff out of your butt. No, I'm going to look up, see. Yeah, he is. He's nodding. Michael Jackson. I'm giving you fake stats. Married Lisa Marie Presley to be closer to the king. Oh, no. That doesn't prove anything. Same with Nicolas Cage. That doesn't prove anything. Michael would tell you Elvis was a bigger star. Of course he would. Of course he would. He's a nice guy. Super nice. Yeah. Maybe Jesus juice I can drink. Really? Yeah. Jesus juice. She's never heard that. That stuff he used to give to the creepy little kids. He used to give to the kids. Known as the king of pop, my friend. King of rock and roll. Elvis. Okay. M1, Aaron from PB. Who's the bigger star? Michael Jackson or Elvis? Elvis. Of course. Great question. Elvis is? MJ. Yeah. Elvis. M1, Jennifer from San Diego. Who's the bigger star? We're caught in the trap here. It's crazy. Can't walk out. I think that...
I think Michael Jackson is because even though he became infamous in the end, he was famous worldwide throughout his entire life. So was Elvis Presley. I don't know. I think Michael Jackson's popularity spread into the Asian countries. I'll tell you why. That's a good point. He was very big in Holland. MJ was all over the globe. You know why? Because he's bad. He's bad. You know it. He's bad. Technology grew. Technology grew. Come on. Come on, Mike. I love technology. Oh, I love technology. What's you, Shimon? I mean, I'm telling you. I'm telling you. I think he sold more records. Why don't you beat it, pal? Okay? Just beat it. You want to be bad? Dirty Diana. You better tell me right now if it's black or white because I feel like there's some gray area. It's such a pretty young thing, though. Yeah, you know what? I guess you know everything. Why don't you look at the man in the mirror, dude? Let me tell you something. Maybe you should stop floozing around town with Dirty Diana. Maybe. I don't know. He has been hanging out with Billie Jean a lot. That's true. That's true. She's not my lover.
Isn't she? She's not his lover, either. Isn't she? She's a real smooth criminal, though. Woods is a smooth criminal. All right. This is just such a thriller. Ugh, kid. All right, you guys want to hear me and Woods being five years old? You mean every day? Didn't we just hear that? Every minute of every show? Me and Woodsy playing with a soundboard again. Oh, wow. How often do you guys do this? Every single, we do it all the time. So when you guys have like the good ones, that's when they make it on the air? Yeah, and we edit them down from 40 minutes to like three. And we sit there and argue. No, don't take that out. It's gold. Yep. Good morning. Good morning. We are in a momentous occasion right now. I'm being joined by the man, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Good morning. Good morning, sir. How are you? I'm good. It's great to be here and talking to you. I'm going to tell you right off the top. Hello, cutie pie. What did you say? Hello, cutie pie. I don't want it to start like that. I want you to be like that because I want you to know that this is serious. We have serious issues and you're not going to charm me. Yes. Okay. Stop whining. I'm not whining. I'm telling you that we're going to be serious right now. We're going to get to serious issues, sir. Because you are the governor and because you are a movie star, it does not.
Get in the way of me asking the serious questions. No problemo. Now, don't do the cute stuff. Don't do your movie stuff. We got to be serious right now. Yes. Okay. I need to know how you are going to take California out of our financial crisis. And I need to know right now. I'm hungry. Don't. Don't do that to me. Don't be cute. Don't try to charm me. with your Austrian movie star stuff. Nice night for a walk. First of all, it's morning. It is not night. And I need to know how you intend to take our state from financial failures to back into the black. Go and kiss your mother behind. Oh, really? That's what this is like? Yes! Oh! So it's a bunch of joking around. It's all ha-has because you're the governor. Take it back. I won't take it back. I need answers. What are you going to do? How are you going to do this? How are you going to fix this? What are you going to do? That's amazing. Where are we? We're sitting in your office right now, Governor. Stop it. Stop what? I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I'm going to ram it into your stomach. Are you? I need a vacation. Oh, I need a vacation.
I need a vacation. Answer this. When will this state be back on top again? Stop whining. I'm not whining. I'm asking serious questions. What happens in a few days? Oh, really? So in a few days, we will be back to being a prosperous state. Yes. Well said. All right. Well, listen, Governor Schwarzenegger, thank you for meeting with us. Nice to meet you. It's very nice to meet you, too. That's your real name. That's a good point. I'm not Mikey. My real name is Mike. You know you're lying. I'm not lying. My name is Mike. Well, Michael. Trust me. Trust you. You're really inconsiderate. I'm not. I'm not. I have to go. Thank you for joining us, Mr. Schwarzenegger. I'll be back. Thanks. I love it. You can do it all day? All day long? All day, we do. The Geezer Bandit. We talk about the Geezer Bandit here in San Diego a lot. He struck nine times here. That's incredible to me. And I don't buy that he's really a geezer. Nine times. No. That's insane. I don't buy he's really a geezer. I think he's a younger person dressed up like a geezer with makeup. Maybe it's a kid. Could be. Could be because he says he's six feet tall. It's not because he always strikes in the morning. Not always, but usually when we're on the air. Yeah, you got an alibi, Woods. Do I? Yeah. Here was Jay Leno talking about the geezer bandit.
Here's a story I've been talking about for a while. It happened again. A man known as the Geezer Bandit. This old guy is held up his ninth bank. Whoa. Guy in his 70s. Yeah. He says he's got to keep robbing banks until he finds one that has money in it. That's the M.O. Yeah. I always laughed at Conan's stuff. Because Conan's stuff always took me by surprise. Team Coco. Yeah. I'm a big fan. Why does he call himself Coco, by the way? Coco, Conan. Conan, Conan, Coco. It should be Kono. It might be like Team JJ, Team Coco. Team Mai Mai. When's he coming to San Diego on his big tour? He already came through, I think. Oh, he did? I don't think he did. No, no, no. I think he did. I thought it was sometime this summer. Yeah, he's on tour. He's taking his TV show on the road. And he's hitting the road. Good to see him right here in San Diego because he's going to come through, bring the show through here. I've been following him on Twitter.
Yeah. He's got a couple of ha-has up his sleeve. April 29th? Yeah, that would be in the past. Wait, did that really happen? You didn't even go, Warren. Nobody told me. This one says April 29th. This one says April 29th. Well, either way, he ain't here anymore. Either way, Coco has left the building. M1 Aramis from Escondido. Hey, how's it going, Mikey? Good. I'd like to weigh in on the King of Rock versus the King of Pop. I mean, there may have been two kings. That's granted. But I think Elvis has got to be the top because he made something new. I mean, Pop was always around, but he made rock. He made rock what it is. You know, he was in more movies. Did he invent the moonwalk? I don't think so. You're giving me a list of accomplishments. He invented this moonwalk. But that doesn't mean that he necessarily was a bigger star. What did you just do? I gyrated. Is that it? That's what he invented.
Yeah, he did. My mom said that when she was a kid, her mom... Yeah, he'd do the little shimmy shake. Yeah. My mom said her mother wouldn't let her watch. Yeah, they weren't allowed to. Because it was like porno. Was Elvis doing his little dance? Yeah, Elvis swaying his hips around was like sex. Yeah. And my grandmother was real against it. Girl, that's all right, mama. That's all right with you. That's all right, mama. Anyway, that's all right. Can I get a peanut butter sandwich? A lot of peanut butter. Elvis. Doesn't get any better than that, pal. Didn't get it. Never got it. Still don't get it. Really? Don't get Elvis at all. I'm sorry, I don't understand. Did you hear what you said about Conan a couple minutes ago? Did you hear yourself? What? You said Conan has left the building. Yeah. Where'd you get that saying from? From Elvis. I guess you did get it. Now, does that prove that Elvis?
What are you quoting from Michael Jackson these days? I did not touch that child. Too soon. Too soon. I'll tell you, beat it all the time. Yeah, beat it. Yeah, he beat it plenty. Creeper. Creeper. Creeper. Creeper. And you're being inappropriate. On that note. Weird. On that note. Let's see. Let me mark the time down. 724. Have a conversation with Woodsy. About filter and brain. Death Cab for Cutie, Summer Skin. Kid put together some real good music today. I have an interesting audio confrontation between a reporter in Oklahoma and a Good Morning America weatherman. I love audio confrontation. It's audio confrontation. It's so passive aggressive and at the same time catty. It's so catty. It's so catty. It's next. I love it. The surf report can be heard three times daily right here on FM 94.9. This has been the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report. And now back to the Mikey Show with Mikey. I think Nickelback may be cooler than Dodgley. Lauren. We all like the chase. Woods. I buy sticker price for everything. I cannot negotiate at all. Sienna. Those are nutty bars? Yeah. Those are the best. MJ. I was the guy most voted most likely to snap on FM 94.9. New tones, right? Oh. Step tones? Cool.
Beauty school. From the new one? Yes. Honey. Oh, it's gorgeous. Listen up, get it here. There's only four people in the world that like him. So maybe, does that get you? I don't not like him. It's just not my style. His voice sounds like it must feel to be a kite. Yeah, flying over a mountain. Yeah. I imagine that being a kite must feel like that sounds. Yeah. Great explanation. Wow. Oh, man, do I love that voice. Me too. God. Can I put one of these in? I met Woodsy's dogs yesterday. You did? Yeah. Oh, I want to meet them. Did you shake their hands? No, they scared the bedazzler out of me, but they are the sweetest, cutest things ever. I get it. I totally get it. Do they compete in barking when someone comes up to the door? They don't always bark. They don't bark.
They just go all over. And what scared me about it was that they're so little and you're walking and they're right at your feet. And I was petrified. Takes getting used to. Yeah. Are they cute, dude? Can you stop by? I got to see the new crib. See the dogs. Play with the babies a little bit. Little Yorkies. What did little Penny Bell do? She licked the inside of Woods' mouth. In front of you? Yeah. He was just like that scene from. There's something about Mary. That's disgusting. He was like... And she was licking his lips and inside of his lips. Does Jamie let the house do that, too? Jamie was giggling. She was laughing. She's giggling. She lets him lick her face, but not... Not that. I'm like... And he goes... Oh, my God. He goes, how you doing, PB? Yeah, but you wouldn't let an actual baby lick inside of his mouth. That's just weird. Never. Your wife used to do that. Never.
570. Poor dog. Yeah. 570-1949. Probably like the Copenhagen. Mm-hmm. She loves the cigarette taste. Yeah. She's addicted. She's as addicted. Yeah, she drinks coffee, too. Here, check this out. So this is an Oklahoma reporter who, you know, they were at the ground zero of this tornado going through. So when that happens, all the news crews rush to one place. And they're all trying to get the best shot. Well, here's this local reporter, right? Local reporter is live on the air and trying to do their deal. Good Morning America comes in, and they're like, what are you pleading? Little local news, whatever. And so they set up in the middle of her shot. She's live on the air doing her local Oklahoma. Good Morning America's like, we're the network. Oh, that's annoying. It's kind of like if local cops are working a scene, and then the feds show up. It's our crime scene now. Super troopers. Yeah, and they're like, really? We were doing an investigation here. Yeah, anyway, get it. Did you know who we are? Look at the badge. It was kind of like that. So here's what happened. Love's gas station. This is insane. Pretty much the whole thing is blown off the top. It pretty much looks like a dollhouse.
And unfortunately, some of the network crews are blocking our shot, but we really want to show you viewers at home what's going on. You know where you're supposed to be? I mean, just take it. It's all right. It's all good. Hopefully, you can still see our shot, guys. Can you still see our shot? Guys? Yeah. Liz, we can see you. Go ahead. Continue. Okay, just making sure. I know that we have some of the network crews doing their thing as well this morning. What do you think of that? People are watching like live. Disrespectful. Yeah, it's so disrespectful. You know the deal. Yeah, they're like, you know the deal. We're a network. Oh, man. I didn't realize it was going to be live. Oh, yeah. What a jerk that guy is. He's one of those guys. You know who we are? And it's the worst because he didn't realize he was getting captured on live TV. That's awesome. It's like there's a camera rolling. She's broadcasting. What do you think, guy? She's just doing a dry run. It's the worst. Checking the mics. Plebeian. Plebeian. Just got this text. She's a thumb sucker. Would trade you for kombucha. Likes hairy yogurt. Hairy? Yeah, because it got in your hair. Oh. Yogurt got in your hair. We do not give her a hard time about that thumb sucking thing anymore. What happened?
How did we forget? Like, that needs to come back all the time. Because it only happens a couple times a year. Oh, does it? You play with the eyebrow when you do it, right? Oh, my gosh. She's sucking the thumb right now. The eyelashes. She does the eyelashes. So she sucks the thumb, and with the index finger, she strokes the eyelashes. Sometimes. It calms me down. You're fascinating to me. Fascinating. Lauren is really got... There's a lot of layers to this on you. I think freak. I'm such an open book. You'll know me in five minutes. Yes. You'll know my whole lifestyle. Yeah. Me too. Yeah. Lauren, you got to investigate. It's like having a chisel. It's like in Shawshank Redemption. He has that little tiny rock hammer and he just... You got to keep working on the wall. So I'm thinking in the year 2047, we may have all of the answers. Okay. The first couple of months that you guys knew me.
I was a little guarded. Yes. But once the wall comes down, it'll come crumbling down. Will it? Yeah. You know that. You know that. Keep tinking away at that thing. After 10 years, I think they're still going to say, and another brick. And another brick. I'll tell you what, though. Then you'll notice this. I don't know if you guys notice this. When you talk to Lauren, she's studying you. Oh, yeah. She looks at you like. Mm-hmm. Every once in a while, I'll say something to Lauren, and she'll get that little eye twitch, that little eyebrow that goes, I noticed what you just said. I'm a magnum P.I. She is. She is. It's in her family. Cataloging it all. Her grandfather was an investigator. And so you talk to her, and every once in a while you say something, she gives you the eye twitch, and you're like, what? I didn't say anything. It's this mic. Mm-hmm. The one eyebrow. The eyebrows. I get it 50 times a day. You got any dude? I just make some smart-ass, sexist comments. I'm going to get filleted by her eyes. I'll talk to you off the air, Woods. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Too off the air, my friend. Women can play sports. 570-1949 is our number. You want to text us? 949mikey at gmail.com. If you're a guy and you like cars, watch a show called Overhauling.
That's all I wanted to tell you. Really? That's all I wanted to say. I just found it and I love it. That comes from your paper or your head? No, I just, my head. Your little head. Little head. Little head's going to be a little sunburn today. Little cub cap. Is that right? Yeah. Little cleats. More little boots today. Little cleats. Little clubs. Little clubs, little cleats, little balls. Oops. Little green. Really? Is today Thursday? Yeah, today's Thursday, pal. We've got a guest coming in the studio today. We do. He's saying, baby, I love your way. Peter Frampton. There we go. That's what I was looking for. There you go, kid. Peter Frampton's coming to the studio? No, got it. Redid it. Reggae version. Reggae. He's got a real interesting story. I love interesting stories. Tell me what you think of this. Mikey, love the show. Love the advice you guys give M1s when you have a problem, which is why I'm writing you today. Here's the deal.
I've been dating one of my co-workers for almost a year, and no one, and I mean no one at work, knows about our relationship. Dating co-workers has always been... I know. What do you think she... What was meant in that moment? She's probably hearkening back to the time when she dated a co-worker. Or maybe she was hearkening back to, like, a boyfriend from eight years ago that, like... No, no, I'm just thinking of a few friends of mine that shall remain nameless. Dating co-workers has always been frowned upon at our company, but now things are getting worse. I have just been promoted, which is great for me, except now I will be a superior to him. It was bad enough that co-workers were dating, but now he's dating the boss. What do you think of this? I honestly feel like I could be the one, which is why neither of us wants to give up on the relationship. However, there is no way we can keep it a secret for much longer. What should we do? Thanks, Mikey show. M1 bossy. Yeah. Well, if it's frowned upon to date, but you are. I don't know if the deal is that you're not allowed to date if it's your. If it's against company policy.
If it's against company policy, like it's frowned upon normally, but if you're superior, you absolutely can't. That happens a lot. You can't date the boss. Yeah, well then. Because obviously you would be privy to some info and maybe some advancements. So I couldn't date Mike. No. You know what? I'll just tell you what I would do because you know me. I like to be above board. You're a rule follower. I'm a rule follower. Hey, Woodsy was in a meeting with me yesterday and my whole. For five solid minutes, all I was saying is, this is, you know, I just want to make sure everything's above board, everything's above board, everything's above board. You stay out of trouble, man, if you follow the rules. I'm learning that a little bit every day. Well, they can't help it. I've been in a relationship with a coworker before, and, you know, it's hard. You spend a lot of time at work, the majority of your time at work. Yeah. And if you have some chemistry with someone, it's hard to fight, especially when you see them every single day. Well, and they've been together a while, right? So she said they've been together, what, a year and a half? Almost a year? Well, if it was, okay, let's say it was frowned upon. Okay? And even though it's frowned upon, I decide I'm going to date Jay. Yeah. That'd be a great couple. Absolutely.
We look really great together, me and Jake. You have matching shirts on today, actually. You do. Who's pitching? Who's catching? All right. Come on. Probably more than I ever needed or expected. And you're being inappropriate. Wanted to have to deal with. You know the pecking order, pal. Oh, man. You know it. You know the pecking order, buddy. Oh, wow. There better be some perks in this relationship. Let me out. Let me out of here. Get me the hell out of here. Well, if it was frowned upon and I decided that I was going to do it anyway, because it's not a rule. It's just frowned upon. Yeah. And I decided I'm going to do it anyway. If I get offered a promotion, I have a decision to make. Yeah, you do. Promotion or relationship? No. Sure you do, because you can't do it. What if you could have both, though? Yeah. Oh, if you're allowed to have both, absolutely have both. Do you even try to ask that you're superior, you know? I would go to HR. Oh, if it was a rule, though. And the rule is you cannot date. It's always a rule. A subordinate. It's always a rule. So you go to HR and say, does this mean I've got to break off? But my relationship doesn't even know about this relationship. Yeah. Yeah. Well, but it's only frowned upon. It's not a rule. So the fact that you had been dating up until now, you're not going to get fired. It was just frowned upon. But I would assume that if it were a smart HR person, what they would say to you is, why do you think it's frowned upon? Yeah. And you know who doesn't have to deal with that kind of a.
Deal? People that don't dip their pen in the company. Okay. That's something that's really difficult to avoid, though. If those feelings are there on two people. Really? Yeah. You don't fish off the company pier. No. A lot of times it works out for people. I've seen it many, many times. Many times. Of course. It absolutely can. It can work out. There's no doubt about it. But if it's against the rule. It wasn't against the rule. Right. And that's what I'm saying. Once you get promoted to superior, now you've got a choice to make. You're either going to go find another job. Or you're gonna... But does she still break up even if even if she didn't take the position and she stayed equal to him? Oh, she can keep doing it because it's only frowned upon. It's not a rule. You know, they said they can't keep it a secret forever. So does she tell the boss then? Why not? You're not going to get fired. It's I wouldn't tell the boss. But if it came up, I'd say, yeah, I know it's frowned upon. But, you know, we're in love. And see, I would just try and I would be like, look, you know, I've I've worked at this company for however long. Obviously, I've shown you that I'm a good worker if you're offering me this promotion. You know, I just want to let you guys in on a little something.
that's been going on for about a year and it has not or and will not affect the way i work or the way he works they'll say won't it both been very professional um oh you're gonna keep it the same way because i would try to get both if you were getting the promotion yeah this is what i would say to you as your superior i'd say i'm sorry but it puts us at too much liability oh absolutely puts it too much liability so even though i know you guys you know have the best intentions could go sideways. So then what do you do? Do you not get full disclosure? Do you try to keep it a secret? No, because if you get busted, you're fired immediately. Well, yeah. If you're a superior. So I would say, you know, you got a choice to make. You either got to break up or you can take this position. I would say the person that didn't get the promotion should start looking for a new job. Yeah, that is. Or that, yeah. You do that. Maybe I would go to HR right away because I wouldn't be able to accept the promotion without telling somebody at the office. You don't want to tell them. But they have confidentiality, no? Are we not in the nest? No, we're in the trust tree. You're not in the trust tree. Love is not an emotion. It's a choice. Oh, come on. It's an emotion. They are looking out for the company's best interest. It is a choice. No, it's not. It's a choice. It's not. I hope Karen's not listening, but HR is definitely looking out for the company. But can't you tell them things in confidentiality?
That's what I thought. It's a choice. It's not a choice. It's a choice because what happens is when you're attracted to somebody, you then have to make a choice whether or not you're going to do something like flirt. No. You don't? People can fall in love from afar. Really? It's happened. How does that happen? Explain that. Not to yours truly. Sleepless in Seattle. Yeah, Mike. Or just from another... That was a motion picture. That was a documentary? No, but it happens. Sometimes you fall in love with someone in your office or someone that you're working with, and it's this unspoken, like, we've never actually even kissed, but I love your personality. Wait, wait, wait. I think you can... I'm not talking about me and what? No, I... I'm not talking about... Sure you're not. I don't... I am not talking about... I'm not talking about loving someone's personality. I'm talking about being in love. But some people can fall in love without actually doing the hibbity-dibbity. Talking? I'm not talking about sex. Oh. No. Really? You're talking about kissing and flirting and things. No, I'm saying that if you have feelings for someone, if you fall in love with someone, that's a choice. It doesn't just happen. You've made choices all along the way that get you to that point.
What about Jay? He's the only one I know on this show that had love at first sight. It's true. Sorry. He doesn't buy it. Fell in love with her. He doesn't buy it. I believe that. Listen. How long have they been married though? I understand. You know why? One's man's opinion. I believe they fell in love. Maybe it was even very quickly. I believe that you can fall in love fast. I do not believe that you make eye contact with someone and you're in love. No. I think that what you have is, oh my, you may even have this. I am more attracted to this person than anybody I've ever been attracted to. I've never been attracted this much. Yeah, maybe it's not love. That's all I'm saying. Maybe it's a little lust. Yeah, I mean, and listen. There's definitely lust in it, but I mean, we were just meshed. I mean, it was like immediate, this is fit. I don't, I do not have, I don't disagree that you can meet somebody and you can go, wow, we have instant chemistry. But falling in love, I believe, is a little bit more involved. I think when you're in love, it's a little bit more involved. I'm not taking anything away from anyone's. And see, part of the problem is that we do a little bit of romanticism as we hear these things. There's a lot of, in our history, all of us, in every one of our history, if you're married right now, all you have to do is say to yourself, man, when you guys were first falling in love, well, how special was that?
But that's why they call it falling in love and not walking a straight line into love. Yeah. It happens. It does. It does. I'm sitting here thinking about this relationship at work. And how do you avoid falling in love? Choices. But listen. If this girl meets this guy, they sit next to each other in their cubicles. And they talk every day. How can you not? You have that chemistry. You make each other laugh. You know that something's there. You find them attractive. But you stop talking to them. You quit. Yes. No, you do not. Excuse me. I'll just give you my side. I'll just give you my side. Call me a nut job, but I'll give you my side. You're a nut job. All right. I accept. I accept. But here's what I think. I ended up liking a girl a long time ago. When I had a girlfriend and I worked with this girl, I liked her and the girlfriend that I was with. I developed lots of reasons why we needed to break up. And so we did because I really liked this girl that I met at work. Now, I remember when I first saw the girl, I thought, wow, she's really good looking. OK, that's the first thing. I know I'm really physically attracted. Meanwhile, I have a girlfriend now.
If I had thought about it now and I see a girl and I physically recognize that she's attractive, already I'm like, ee, ee, ee, ee. And in my head now, I go, you gotta avoid that one. Now, then I started to talk to her. And I noticed that we had quite a bit in common. Ee, ee, ee, ee. If it were now, alarms would be blasting. Very attractive. We've got a bit in common. Then we talked a little bit more. And I found out, wow, she has a very unique sense of humor that I really like. By this point, alarms should be shouting to you that you really like this person. And I'm not talking about love yet. All I'm talking about is... There's nothing wrong with feeling that way. No, no, no.
No, there's not. If it's Woods, or if it's Jay, or if it's JR or Engineer, who I can see through the glass right now, absolutely not. But if it's some girl named Stephanie or something, hang on, that works in the building, really cute, I'm physically attracted, she smells great, she dresses great, she looks great, everything about, and then we talk, get along real well. Like, all along, I'm making choices, and my choices are, talk further. Talk further. Talk further. I'm not suggesting in any way that you ignore someone and that you are a jerk. And we're all not little kids. It's not like people don't get me right now. Everybody knows what I'm talking about. Every person listening right now. I don't care who you are. You know exactly what I mean. And if you're going, wait, that can't be done. I don't get it. You know what I'm talking about. What if that's the person for you? Okay, perfect. I'm all for it. Here's what you do. Hello, boss. I'd like to give my formal resignation. I'm now resigning from the company because I may have met the one. Or if you're in a relationship, you go to the one that you're in a relationship with, which I would have done if I wasn't a complete coward. I would have gone to the one that I was in a relationship with. And I would have said, hey, listen, I've met somebody else, but you know why I didn't do that?
because I wanted my cake. You wanted to eat it, too. And I wanted to gobble it up, too. But sometimes you can eat it, too. It tastes real good. I mean, I guarantee every single one of us knows someone who is married or dating someone that they work with. And it's okay with a boss. If you're married to your co-worker, obviously it's okay. If it's okay. Totally. If it's okay. So, I mean, how do you go about finding out if it's okay? If it's not against company policy but frowned upon, I say proceed with caution. Listen, you can go for it. Is it against every policy at every work? Don't know. Isn't that the deal? But is it really? No. I don't know. Every place I've ever worked, you're not supposed to. Boy, my last company, we'd have nobody there. Yeah. A lot of bosses went for the underlings. Real good. But, Mike, I think you're talking about apples and oranges here because you're talking about someone that's already in a relationship or someone like yourself that's married, though. If you're single... Wait, wait, wait. Do you mean single, but you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend? No. If you're not clearly in love with that person and you're having feelings for another person, then maybe you should question your current relationship. Yeah, maybe you don't be a coward. You get out of that relationship. I would have if I had any guts. No, no, no, no, no. Not at all. Not at all. But in context of the job, I would say proceed with caution. And in context of I got a girlfriend or a boyfriend or whatever, you just get out of the relationship if they're that fancy. Phones are going crazy right now. You think the person at work is that fancy?
Go for it. Just break up. But maybe you're like I was. And you're like, no, no, no. I love my chocolate cake. I love to gobble it up, too. Delicious. Real sweetly. Sweetly. Who doesn't? Traffic also brought to you by Pickup Sticks. For a great deal on a freshly walked meal, check out the Dragon Deals value menu at Pickup Sticks. Six delicious meals, only $4.99 each. I'm Elaine O'Brien, FM 94.9. KBZT San Diego, the Lincoln Financial Media Station. The new home of the Mikey Show. This is FM 94.9. Kids music picks today. Little Zeppelin Tangerine. So, hot topic. We got a hot topic right now. The topic is, what do you do if you're dating somebody at work? It's frowned upon. But it's outright against company policy if you're a superior. So what do you do if you're like, well, it's frowned upon, but it's not like, you know, it's not like we can't. So you do. You're dating them. But then you get promoted. Now what? People are calling in about it. 570.
One ninety four nine M1 Chris from Rancho Bernardo. What do you say? I got to say that whole thing about, you know, that attraction you have, even if you're dating someone else. If you have that attraction, it's definitely like I I had the same thing with this person that I'm that I'm working with right now. And we she actually ended up breaking up. Nothing happened before, but she ended up breaking up with her boyfriend that she was dating for a few years so that we could get to know each other a little better. And we started dating. Now, you know, my manager called me in the back a few days ago. I work at a popular, we'll just call it a popular coffee shop. I think we can figure that one out. I think we might be able to figure that out, Chris. Like, where's one of those? Rhymes with Blarmox. Maybe the one you see on every corner. Sundollars. Yes, we'll call it Sundollars. Sundollars. Well, anyways.
You know, we're not supposed to date our coworkers at this place. And we obviously started dating, and it's words gotten around because everyone likes to talk about it. And my manager called me in the back last week, and I was being written up for something else that I had done previously. That wasn't a big deal. But anyway, she kind of mentioned. She's like, hey, you know what? I know you two are dating, and it's against company policy. And with the attitude you're having about it right now, you're better off quitting than having me fire you. I said, all right, you know what? I went out and looked for another job, got an interview, and got another job. So I'm dropping my two weeks in probably a few days. That a boy. Good for you, man. And it's worth it, too. I don't want to go through all the crap that they're going to be giving me. Yeah, and you keep your girl. In the schedule for next week, you know, they have us completely. Like, normally we work Friday, Saturday, Sunday together. They have us completely opposite. So, you know what? I'm just done. I'm done dealing with that. Hey, Chris. I'll tell you this, too. I think that the girl that you're talking about is kind of stand up because she did the right thing. She dumped the boyfriend before she started to, you know, before she started to get involved. It's a big chance. Yeah. She must really believe in you. She must really believe in you. Yeah, definitely. It was pretty cool. Like, I mean, it's because I know exactly what the other guy's going through. I've been through that before where, you know, the girl kind of just dumped you. You don't really know why. Tell you why she did it, Chris.
Because you're the best around. No one ever puts you down. You're the best around. Thank you, Chris. Appreciate it. M1 Stacy from North Park is on the line. Hi, Stacy. Hi. I wanted to talk about two feet. First, earlier, Mikey, you had talked about the alarms going off and all of that. And I first want to say that it's so refreshing to hear a guy show that level of control. Because I think that that's the kind of thing that's gotten people like Tiger Woods and Jesse James into trouble. Hey, can I say this about that, Stacey? More than control for me, it's fear. I'll be really honest with you. It scares the pants off of me. Because I love my wife and it's fear. I don't want to, you know, we're all susceptible to temptation. Every single one of us is susceptible to temptation. So the thing to do about it is run from it. Just run, run, run as fast as my little brown tiny legs will carry me. Well, good for you for running, though. That shows a level of respect for your wife. And I think that more people need to do that in general. So first I wanted to say that. And then on the whole work issue, I actually work in human resources. And I think a lot of companies have that policy because of the whole sexual harassment.
You wouldn't believe how many people that it starts out as a relationship and things go bad and then they go straight to the sexual harassment card. And unfortunately, it is mainly the women that do it. And it's that because a lot of... It happened to Michael Douglas when he wouldn't comply with Demi Moore. And he sued her, man. He didn't care. So I'm going to take you right to the top. Yeah, and it happens, and it happens a lot more than you would think, and people end up settling out of court, and so companies have to protect themselves by putting that policy into place. So I think people just need to be careful and aware of that. Hey, Stacey, thank you very much. Great call. Look like L.O.B. had.
thoughts going on in her head. I don't know what. What team are we on here, Stacey? Come on. Oh, boy. Come on now. I'm woman, hear me roar. That's right. It's a vast generalization, I'd say. Is it? Probably 97% women, I would imagine. Let's get the stats on that. Oh, yeah, right. Do you think a bunch of dudes? Do you think some dude is going to walk into HR and be like, I was sexually harassed by Lauren. Really? Do you think? No, he's going to slay you is what he's going to do. No, she did. I had a boss that was sexually harassed. Did you go to HR? No, I just, like, avoid her like the plague. Because guys don't want to feel like a P word if they go do it. I did. I was so awkward. My car won't start. This and that. I'm just like, oh, my gosh, please. Hey, guys. Yeah. Is this a safe place, man? You know what you're bringing. Yeah, this is very safe. You having some problems, bud? Yeah, dude, I kind of am, man. What's the matter? Well, since we're talking about it and everything.
Mel Dog kind of freaks me out. Really, dude? Yeah, she does, okay? And I ate some Fruit Loop just because I'm talking about it here live on 94.9, man. Men aren't, you're not supposed to talk about it, dude. Listen, dude, you don't have to go through what I got to go. First of all, I got to deal with this body. I got Susanna on me, dude. You don't see me going to HR? First of all, I would. Oh, boy, look who's here. First of all, she ain't doing nothing against you that ain't natural. That girl right there is a good woman. Oh, like looking in my windows at night? Watching me sleep? Susanna, you ain't never looked in his window one time, man. No, first of all. You would never do that. I never stood against the windows. Binoculars and tell us jokes for that. See what I mean? I'm not going to go running. She's not helping her case, man. No, she's not. Not at all. I mean, she's doing a bit. It was just a bit. She was pretending, man. She didn't really do anything. Well, people, you should know that, Frankie. Hey, I was hanging out with MC Meldorg the other day. You were? You did? I was in the engineering department putting together a basket for woods for next Easter. Next Easter? I was trying to hide some eggs in a place where he would never look. Perfect.
An MC Meldog was back there asking for socket wrenches and all kinds of stuff. Why? What do I know around here? Around here? Not much. She walked past me and she patted me. Where? Not on the head. Ooh. Yeah, you got me. She's a hot lady, Frankie. She's cute, dude. What's your problem? She needs to keep her hands off me, her filthy hands. Oh, come here, yo. Where were you? Were you underneath the board? Yeah, you know. Don't touch me. You'll know that, little Frankie boy. Come here. Touch it. I got some highlighters for you. Come here. Don't you touch my body, man. You need to cut her some slack, dude. Yeah. She needs to quit taking my T-shirts where the nips are and pinching them and thinking it's funny. It ain't funny. It's called a titty twister. Don't do that to me. You know it. Those are pretty funny. Don't touch him. Come here with your preference. Come here, you. Woods, I'm sick of it, dude. Keep her away from me. Dude, I actually, the funny thing is, I was actually going to see if you guys wanted to double date with me and the wife. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, we do that. I ain't doing it, dude. We'll all go to dinner and a movie. All of us. You get to hang out with Woods. What movie?
I don't know. We're going to go to a drive-in. Iron Man 2. We're going to go to a drive-in. I ain't going to a drive-in, man. No. We're going to a drive-in. No, no. Come here. No, absolutely not. What do you want to see? Is there anything that you want to see? I'll see Greaser. I'll see none of the stuff I like is playing, man. Greaser. The stuff that I like ain't playing. Is Chicago playing? No, it's old. You like musicals? Yeah, sorry. Maybe it's a Brooklyn thing. I like musicals, man. That's sexy. That's sexy, little Frankie boy. That's great, Mel Dog. Come on, Woodsman. Can't we just have a Gino? What's a Gino? Guy's night out. Gino. It's a Gino. It's a Gino, dude. What's the matter with you? It's a Gino. Yeah, you know, I think I've missed my windows for the Ginos since the wife moved out. And, you know, I like to spend time with her. Yeah, double date. Double date. Double dates are great. Cake, eat it, too. If that ate. If that's the deal, I'm sitting up front with you. I ain't sitting. I'm not sitting. You can't sit. You can't. Oh, would you stop it, you little whiny little baby. No, I ain't sitting back there with you. With your femme buns. Let me grab some quarters off of you. I ain't going with that broad on a date. You're coming, dude. You ever seen single white female? Yeah. Hello? Hey, we get to hang out. No. Well, dude.
Okay, fine. I'm in on that, but she's got stalker-like tendencies, man. No, she doesn't. She just likes you. The only way I'm going to ride shotgun is if that chick sits in the back where she belongs. Hey, easy, you. Come here. You know, you like to be in the front. I could talk to the wife. You're freaking me out when you talk like that, man. Frankie. I wasn't freaking you out yesterday. What was that? I didn't even do anything with you. Didn't you? I didn't, dude. I wouldn't do anything with you. I saw you blushing. You liked it. I'm not blushing, man. That's actual blush. Why are you in blush, dude? What do you have blush on? Because there's cameras in here, bro. They can't see you unless you wear the makeup. They can't see you. Like, dramatically enhance your appearance, man. It's the only reason I don't. It's the worst excuse I've ever heard. That's true. I can talk to the wife, dude. Why do you think I have a tight leather jacket on right now? It's because we got cameras. I want people to be able to see what work I do here. I know. I know. I can talk to Jamie, dude, and see if she'll sit in the... Yeah, well, check it out, bro. I doubt she will, though, because we like to make out, too, at the drive-in movies. Real sweetly. Yeah.
Ew. You know what you do at a drive-in? Watch a movie? No. French. With your wife. French. I'll wear my tight leather jacket. I'll bring you my extra one, dude. It'll be like T-Birds. It'll be like T-Birds, man. It'll be awesome. Maybe that's a Brooklyn thing. I don't know. It must be. Or a 50s thing. Yeah. Dude, it's like a sign of toughness. You pop your collar. It's pretty cool. Blast some cigs. Dude, all I know is Patrick Swayze over here is doing a scene from Ghost every time I'm around. Yeah, let me mold those buns, you little. Don't, dude. You don't mold me. Give me those. Get away from me. Oh, soft. This should be a really fun double date. All hands on deck at the drive-in, dude. I don't want to do anything. You guys should go see that new movie Letters to Juliet. It comes out. Yeah, I'll see that. Weird, I won't. I'll see that with you, Frankie boy. No, you won't, man. Yeah, I will. Every time we hang out, it's like I'm Yoda and you're Frank Oz. Keep your hands off me. I don't know who Frank Oz is. Yeah, you dope. No, I know. I know my Frankie boy. Don't judge my buns. They're my buns and they belong to me and no means no. No means no. Why do you work so hard on them then? Do you want some attention? 26 hours at 24 hour fitness, lady. That's not possible. How is that possible? Yeah.
It's possible when you practically live there, I should be paying rent. What are you doing here? Yeah, what about this one? Stop squeezing. That's gross. Anybody have a pecan? Why? Because I can put it on my buns and... Pecans? I'd like to see that. Crack of pecan between his butt cheeks. Oh, I've seen it. Oh, it's a sexy day. I've seen it. You made me some pecan butter there, Frankie Boy. I put it on a cracker. I put it on a cracker and I ate it up. I'm going to vomit. Pecan butter? That's really gross. She's filthy. She does not care. You know what? This was interesting to me. Of all the different things... That you would think that would come out of, I don't know how we're going to do this. I'm going to play you a clip of Paris Hilton. Is she back again? Well, every time I hear the name Paris Hilton, I think we're all the same. We all go, oh boy. Right? I go, yeah! Weird. I thought that this clip of her humanized her a little bit. Let's hear it. You tell me. I lost my diamonds. Hey.
It's a real tragic thing. MS is something that affects my family. My grandmother died from it. So it's something that I've had to deal with my whole life, you know, living with my grandma in a wheelchair and just seeing her go through that so much pain. And this is just a really great charity because it's for a great cause. And hopefully one day we're going to find the cure for it. Okay. Right. Humanizes her a little bit. Absolutely. I mean, because grandmother with what? MS? Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Well, I'm you know, we're all used to hearing her. Doing her... That's hot. That was her fake voice, though. Yeah. That's hot. That's hot. She's sexy, though. I've always thought she was sexy. Oh, gross. Yeah, it's like praying mantis can away. Kids always wanted a taste. She's a bird, 100%. I gotta say, though. Listen, as terrible of a rap as Paris Hilton gets, and listen, I'm not saying anything like, oh, Paris Hilton is great. I always like to speak in facts. What are the facts before us? The facts are, she's really pretty. She's hot. Sex tape? Easy. Okay, no doubt about it, right? Okay, so listen, I'm not saying she ain't a floo's. They got her in night vision doing some pretty dirty stuff. I'm just saying. Those were beautiful acts of love. I'd like to say thank you. Really, she was love-making? I beg to differ. Her dogs have their own house. Her dogs do have their own house? Well, mine would too if I could afford it. It's nicer than my house. I ain't saying she's America's sweetheart. I'm just saying.
She doesn't bug me as much as, like, Lohan and, like, all the other ones do. Do you ever notice, though, what, do you ever notice? Yeah. Do you ever notice that if somebody annoys you, then you, like, physically, they go from being attractive to not being attractive? Heidi Montag. Oh, great example. Yeah, repulsive. Repugnant. And it's because of her personality. Well, that's because she altered herself, too. Well, and she was repugnant before, and her personality, and the fact that she's married to Spencer Pratt. And why do I know all this crap? That's what I, that's why I hate myself. That's the question. I know those names, but I don't know. That's why I hate... And I think they're on the hills. I know that. They were. Never seen an episode of the hills, but here's what I could tell you. God. Just speaking facts here, Paris Hilton is a good-looking girl. Oh, yeah. No. Really? You don't think she... I'll go further. She's beautiful. She's hot. No. She's smoking hot. Beautiful girl. She has a beak. It's because you think she's annoying. Well, she's a girl, too. Girls don't find other girls attractive. No, I'll tell you, Megan Fox is gorgeous. J-Lo. If Paris Hilton was a friend of a friend and they were like, here's my friend, Samantha, I'd be like, wow, your friend is really pretty. Really pretty. If she walked in here right now, I always use the sales analogy. The sales bit. I always say, if they walked in right now, if she were to walk in right now with Scott Sklenar from our sales department, the manager. Steve Sklenar. Sorry, Scott, Steve. Steve, I'm sorry. I wouldn't think so. If he walked in right now and he goes, hey, guys, during commercial break, and she came in in a business suit, Paris Hilton. Yeah.
And her hair was back. And he said, hey, guys. Why is a business suit with hair back all of a sudden? Because it's professional. It's a different look than what we're used to. Okay, so she doesn't come in here wearing the, you know. A pink bikini. Yeah, exactly. With high heels. Either way, we're all good. I guarantee she walks out of the room. I guarantee she walks out. The kid passes out. And everybody goes, all of us, all four of us go, wow, that girl was gorgeous. I wouldn't. I'm telling you the truth. G-I-T, Sienna. I'm telling you the truth. I'm going to Google image right now. Oh, I know what she looks like. I know you do, but I just need to see it. I need to see you have identifiable proof in front of you. Rachel McAdams, gorgeous. Gorgeous. I will tell you the gorgeous ones. Okay, so this girl walks in, and she's new in our sales department, and you go, and she walks out, and nobody, you don't know, really. Oh, you're lying. I'm not lying. Oh, barf. Ew. Easy. Oh, yeah. It's just that everybody associates her with the salutey sex tape and all the stuff, and they're like, eh, eh. She's so hot. But don't you agree that someone can become unattractive? No, no, no. I think that their personality is so hot. They're two totally different things. I don't. I think the old beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If somebody...
If things about them other than their just physical attributes turn you off, then their physical attributes can start to repulse you. Yep. I do think it works the opposite way, L.O.B. I think it works both ways. I do, too. I like natural. Yeah, you really got me thinking. I think it does. I mean, if someone that you initially just saw on the street and you were like, hot or not, eh, not so much. Then you meet them, hilarious, smart. That, I believe, happens. But I don't think it goes well. I think it does. Well, yeah, I do. It's just that I don't subscribe to one of those. I don't subscribe to the one that says, oh, they're beating, so they're therefore ugly. I don't subscribe to that. I do. But I do subscribe to, no, they're not that great looking. Oh, I just got to spend some time with them. They're gorgeous. Thank goodness that exists or I wouldn't be married right now. What if it came out that she was like a murderer or something like that? Couldn't you be so repulsed by her actions that she became unattractive? There are famous women that are in prison right now, but they may be attractive, but they're just bad people. But don't you become unattractive too? I'm actually more attracted to them once they're in prison for some reason. Old Cinemax prison movies, I guess. Hey there, jailbird. How you doing? Marvin Gaye.
Tammy Terrell, your precious love. That goes out to the dime at home listening. That's right. You did that because you just talked about Paris Hilton, how hot she was, huh? Yeah, I had to make up for that. She knows I think she's hot. This next thing may make me crazy when we come back. Wait for this. Tune in. Don't turn away because this is going to be real good. What is it? It's the marriage thing. It's got to be. Nine marriage rules. Nine marriage rules. This is how it's been presented to me. Nine marriage rules that you should break. I read it, and I tensed up. He did. He goes, oh, gosh. I bet you'll agree with at least four of them. I bet it's a war against marriage, and I'm going to fight. No. When we get back. Jay, don't want to do my stuff before you. We just solved the mystery. Do you? And the light bulb turned on. I will beat you clowns with one arm tied behind my back. Okay, so. Never cheated. I don't cheat. All right. You don't get. Sure. So, the other day, Sienna was telling us about how on Cinco de Mayo, there was a school in California where a bunch of kids wore American flags on Cinco de Mayo. Yeah, like five different kids. Five kids.
Totally punks. Okay? Now, I'm watching CNN yesterday, and the story comes on. Lo and behold, it happened at Live Oak High School, which was the rival of my high school, Gilroy High. No way. Happened in Morgan Hill, California, which is right next to Gilroy. Weird. How many touchdowns did you score against those guys? Really? Just ignore him, Mike. I have to try to ignore him. I have to try. You have a show to host. I'm a show to host, so what am I going to do? Engage? It's called the Mikey Show. Am I going to engage that? When I so clearly didn't play football, and I wasn't even on the, I wasn't second string. Was there eighth string? Did you win your debate against them? Really? Stop it. Did you win that musical where you played the clarinet? Really? Against your rivals? Stop it right now. It was Trumpet. What's the spelling bee? But anyway, so I'm watching this report on CNN about this. And it was my, you know, rival high school, Live Oak. And I see on television my eighth grade teacher. Yes! Dude, he hasn't changed a bit. No way. Mr. Mancias. That's awesome. Yeah. Mr. Mancias. Holy cow. And we got him on the line right now. Yeah. Jaybird got him. Mr. Mancias.
How's it going, Mike? How are you? I love it. I'm fine. How are you? I'm good. I'm good. Listen, isn't that great? Isn't that great? I couldn't believe it. I recognized you immediately. Even after all these years, I recognized you immediately. And the reason that they showed you was because there was a big meeting that they had about it at Live Oak High School. And CNN said that you were one of the parents. Is that right? Well. Well, yes. It was a board meeting, actually, and they moved it from the regular school board site to the junior high because they were anticipating a lot of people, and there was. It was over 200, I would imagine. And actually, Mike, what the situation is, I've kind of put together a few of us, some Latino parents in Morgan Hill because that's where I live, and we're trying to help the Latino kids graduate, go to college. stay out of trouble so when this whole issue blew up i mean that was right down our pipeline and we kind of took a stance on it and uh that's how it all came about well now i i have a couple of takes on it and then i want to hear what you think but when i saw it i thought to myself if i had been the school i wouldn't have gone as far as to tell these kids to turn their shirts inside out the only reason that i say that is because to me it was clearly clowns
These kids were clowns and they were trying to be provocative and they were trying to start trouble and they were doing what dumb kids do. They act like dumb kids. I know because I was a dumb kid. Ditto. I was just I would try to provoke people and start trouble. And the thing that gets that gets the flames of that all fired up is when you engage them and you actually pay attention, which is what the school did. I think that they paid too much attention and that's what turned it in to such a big. But I also believe that it was innately racist. These kids didn't have anything else, in my opinion. They didn't have anything else on their minds but being clowns. And when I started to see these parents, I see this parent on TV. I see this guy going, I can't believe they're busting my kid over this, man. I can't believe they're busting my kid. And I don't think there's anything wrong with him wearing the American flag, man. I'm like, really? So let me get this straight. If it had been a Fourth of July party where we're celebrating America and a bunch of kids went there wearing a bunch of Mexican flags, that's not going to start any trouble either? Absolutely it will. Please. And there's nothing wrong with wearing an American flag. No. But why be a little D and do it on that day? You know what you're doing. I mean, come on. So, Mr. Mancias, what do you think? What's my take? My take is similar to yours.
First of all, these were clowns, and you know clowns because you were one. Yes. Yes, I was. He's still wearing a little bow tie that shoots water. Mike, don't ever forget it. I was. Forget it. I'm always here to remind you of that. That's so great that this is your teacher. You're a good clown, all right? You weren't a bad clown. You were a good clown. The issue, Mike, is school safety, and the assistant principal, Miguel Rodriguez, who's a good friend of ours because he comes to our meetings, et cetera. He saw a school safety issue. The underlying situation was there were racial slurs being exchanged, go back to Mexico, those kinds of things. Really? Oh, yeah, yeah. From those kids that were wearing those flag t-shirts, they were saying that? Throughout the day, that's what we're doing on fact finding. We're interviewing students that were there that were our witnesses, and this is what's coming out. It wasn't just a nice little group of kids that were wearing their flags. They were there to provoke. It was premeditated. It was a conspiracy to provoke Cinco de Mayo celebration at the high school. And yet these kids now in the eyes of some of these Tea Party people, et cetera, they're considered heroes. Well, you know what? I consider them just a bunch of brats and clowns and brats, whatever you want to call them. So that's the theme. The theme was school safety. I think to the point where they had to turn the T-shirts inside out, whatever, I mean, that does.
It kind of required a little bit of further scrutiny to see if they made a mistake in that judgment call. But I do know this. I do know that, as you well know, Mike, a high school kid got killed at Giroir High School in 1995 because there was a couple of groups of kids that got into a fight. The kid got stabbed right on campus during the middle school days. And there's no reason to believe that it cannot happen at any other school in any other city. And so my thing, like any parent, would be school safety. For that, Mr. Rodriguez needs to be honored and not disparaged and despised because they want to run him out, and that's totally uncalled for. And why do they want to run him out? Because he told the kids to turn their shirts inside out? Yeah, that's a good reason why. You know, we still don't know the answer. I guess that part of it is probably it, the fact that you are not, you know what, patriotic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. No, I get it. Listen, if it was one kid that wore a flag T-shirt and he didn't have anything on his mind, he just, whoa, I didn't realize. And he's not throwing around racial slurs. Okay, you know, I'm like, hey, it's a little bit of an overreaction here, you know. But if it's five guys that are all buddies and they're being clowns and they're wearing it because they're trying to like, and then they're throwing racial slurs around.
Come on. And they're leaning on America as their crutch and saying, well, because we live in America and we're American, we can do this. Right. And they're hiding behind. Really? You're going to call BS here? We're just wearing a flag. Please, come on. So, well, anyway, Mr. Mancias, tell everybody what kind of what a clown I was. Tell everybody. Well, you well know, Mike, in eighth grade, you used to imitate me. Hey, Mike, you have detention. And you used to say, hey, Mike, you got detention. No way. I did. I don't have an accent like that, Mike. You got detention. You got detention. I did. Oh, my gosh. I did. Do you remember what I came dressed as for Halloween in eighth grade? Him? Yeah, you came dressed as me with my briefcase. The whole bit. The whole bit. Tie suit. Tie suit. He wore, you know. I love it. I came with a tie. And I was like. It's Mr. Mancias and you've got a detention. That would give people a detention. Oh, did he get a kick out of it? Oh, yeah. Oh, he did. Wow. See, I love that. That's a good teacher. Yeah, he was a great teacher. I mean, easily to this day, one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Just a really good, good dude. Did you flip out when you saw him on CNN? Oh, I couldn't believe it. That's so cool, dude. I'm like, that's Mr. Mancias. He's got a detention. I know him. That's right. Hey, Mike, I'll leave you with this.
You know, I taught 16 years, and that eighth grade year was, you know, man, that was the best class I ever had. I can't remember a day when we weren't laughing about something. Every day we were laughing, and the laughing would go down to the hallway. What the hell was going on in that class? Did you hear anything? He was great. All they knew was laugh. It's true. You and the other Mike, Mikey Duke. Mike Duke, he's in radio, too. No way. Yeah, Mike Duke's in radio. Did you know that, Mr. Mancias? Did you know Duke? I remember way back in the day he was in Monterey, but I, in fact, where are you at? I'm in San Diego. Oh, hey, that's where my daughter's living now, man. I'll have her, what's the station? FM 94.9. And yeah, tell her it's the Mikey show. Maybe she's listening right now. Yeah, she could be listening right now. I hope so. How weird would it be if she's a fan and she's listening and she's like, that's my dad. Oh, that would be awesome. That'd be great. Hey, Mr. Mancias, thank you for coming on. I appreciate it. You're welcome, and thank you to your group over there. You guys sound like you have a great group and sound like you're having fun. I do. I hope you keep up the good work, and thanks for calling me, Mike. It's an honor for me to speak to you now that you're kind of doing real well in life, and I'm really proud of you. Likewise, man. Likewise. Thank you, Mr. Mancias. There we go. Thank the kid messed up over here. I know. It's awesome. Oh, he's great. Oh, man. Love that guy. Now, a lot of people are fired up. They want to talk to me about it. They say, you're wrong, Mike. M1 Rich is from Penasquitos. What's up?
I resent the fact that you're calling them punks. Why? Why can't they wear a shirt with an American flag? They should have kept their mouths shut. They should have probably never said anything. But what's wrong with them wearing American flags on Cinco de Mayo? We shouldn't be celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Mexico, my friends who live in Mexico and cross the border, do not even celebrate Cinco de Mayo. They're like, there's nothing to celebrate. Everybody beats the French. So they're like, why do people in America celebrate Cinco de Mayo when it means nothing? Okay, so here's my question to you. Because I want to, you know, I want to take them one by one. Because your first question was, why shouldn't they be allowed to wear American flag T-shirts to school? Exactly. Well, first of all, I'm not saying that they shouldn't. They can wear American flag T-shirts to school. And I started out by saying that I think that whatever teacher or administrator or whatever that told them to turn them inside out, I think that was a stupid choice and a dumb decision. They shouldn't have told them to turn them inside out. But I think that we're all so really foolish if we see it as anything other than kids that were just trying to stir it up. That's what they were doing. You know it. I know it. We all know that. Like, we're not kids. We get it. And to sit there and be like, they were just wearing, you know, coincidentally. No, it wasn't coincidentally. I know it wasn't coincidentally. Yeah, they were being clowns. You know it. I know it.
In fact, they took it a step further. They were actually throwing around some go back to Mexico's, you know, so they were trying to stir it up. Listen, I always say this. You can do whatever you want, but there's just, you know, there's consequence to it. They did it. The consequence was they started. It's being covered on CNN around the world what they did. And then and then what happened was because the administrators were dopey and said, turn your shirts inside out. It turned into a yelling match. They were showing on CNN. These kids are driving down the street. Oh, got to backtrack a little bit. So let me tell you what the Latino kids did, which I also think is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The next day, they stage a walkout. Oh, boy. I'm rolling my eyes as I'm watching this. All the Latino kids stage a walkout, and they walk down to City Hall. And I'm like, For what? Like, what are you going to say when you get there? We walk out because they wore T-shirts. Yeah. Like, what is that saying? Like, what's your point? And the school did something about it. So. Yeah. Like, they were on your side. We tend in this country to blow things out of proportion. Okay. And those kids. Listen, you're talking to.
You're basically talking to a guy that would do something like that. I was a punk when I was a kid, and I was an S starter. I would stir it up. I'd stir the pot just to see what I could get away with. So there is no question that these guys all huddled around and said, let's get some American flag t-shirts and show these guys. Yeah. And they were like, that's a good idea. And then we're going to get some coverage for this, man. We're going to piss some people off. And that's what they wanted to do, and they did it. They thought it would be funny, and they did it. They didn't think they'd be on the news. No. No. In their community. With their little click, they thought they were going to be real wise guys, and it was going to be funny. And listen, okay, fine. But as grown-ups, don't we have to go, we're not dumb. teenagers like we get what's going on this reminds me of a story that happened uh really close to home when i where i used to live in dallas there's a school called highland park highland park high and it's uh typically or not typically it's a very privileged lot of kids that go there halloween a big group of them dressed up as latinos and what they did is they actually brought weed eaters they brought all kind they dressed in like to mow the lawn they look dressed like mexican brilliant brilliant yeah oh yeah dude and then this was a huge
Huge deal. And they're like, what? What? We're just dressing up, man. It's Halloween. What are you, dude? It's like, hey, listen, you can do whatever you want. You do whatever you want, but there's consequence to it. Yeah, you're going to get something for it. They're lucky they didn't get their butts beat. M1 Harry from OB. Hey, how's it going, Mikey? Glad to have you back on the air, man. Thank you, brother. Hey, loving your show all morning. And then when you said that, I was just like, oh, Mikey, you're letting me down. Now, I don't want to defend these guys. They're being, you know, say-holes about the whole thing. casting, you know, racist remarks and all that. I don't think anybody's defending that. If they were wearing French flags on their shirts, that would be provocative. That would be disrespectful. And I could see that being addressed because it was, you know, Cinco de Miles about the, you know, Mexican army and the French army. It is? Like, I didn't even know that. Well, I'm 39 years old. I'm 39 years old. I didn't know that. Like, I still don't eat. 39 years old and Mexican. And Mexican. And I didn't know it. So I don't think that these. It's a drinking day. It's a party, but that's the actual holiday. It's not Independence Day or anything. Dude, I didn't know that. I don't think these 16-year-olds knew it either. Probably not. I'll give you that. But let me ask you this. You know, the high school, is it predominantly or, you know, large? 40% Mexican. 40%.
Yeah, 40 percent Hispanic. What I was thinking is that these guys are probably doing nothing different than when African-Americans have a black student union on a predominantly white campus. And, you know, I've had friends go, why can't there be white student union? I'm like, because the majority is white. So if they're feeling in the minority and again, they're probably being able and probably being racist. But if they're feeling in the minority and they're saying they're making a big deal about Cinco de Mayo, you know. Hey, this is America. At least we're going to wear our American flags. Yeah, they're not in the minority. They're in the majority. And it was Cinco de Mayo, and they were four brats who were trying to be clowns. And I know because I was a bratty clown. Me too. Okay? And lest anybody, by the way, lest anybody think that this is me going, I'm waving my Mexican flag. Yeah, say three words in Spanish. Pequito. Hola. Rolled taco. I mean, I'm Mexican, but I don't speak Spanish. This is not a... This is calling... It's calling it like it is. It's clowns, and we know it. And it was clowns that were just trying to stir it up. And they got it stirred up. Now they're like, oh, oh, I didn't do anything. I would agree with him, though, if...
not agree with what the kids did, but I would agree with his opinion that if the white was a minority in that school, then all of a sudden they're thinking like, oh, well, we got to stand up and do something. There's no white holiday. There's no, you know, even though there's national holidays that kids get off for all throughout the year. I mean, listen, I don't care what it is. It's still clowny. If the roles were reversed, we'd be taking the same approach. the exact same approach if it was independence day now granted they're not in school july 4th and those guys were wearing and they came waving their mexican flags we'd be like really dude we would take and i think it'd be different if these were adults but these are kids that don't have the rationale to necessarily think through okay this is going to be really it's going to stir up like a huge controversy i think they thought they were going to get some chuckles and maybe you know reprimanded but This continues to come through via text, via the phone lines, everywhere. Waiting for a pigeon to fly in. Telegraph just came through. Telegraph. Got a little Morse code I wanted to translate for you, too. There's a great big St. Bernard that just ran into the room with a barrel under his neck. With a note inside of it that has this message. I see smoke signals outside. Yeah. Folks, we know Cinco de Mayo is not a real holiday in Mexico. I get it. We get it. I get it.
I don't think those kids necessarily knew what it stood for. No. I wonder if they thought it was like a Mexican independence holiday or something. Of course they didn't care. They wanted to start some S. That's what they wanted to do. Of course. I love how, though, I love how we're trying to process it rationally. Right. Well, you know, can't they wear T-shirts that have flags on them? Well, it's freedom of speech, Mike. Of course they can. It's freedom of speech. You know, Mike, it's not truly a Mexican holiday, so why? So it doesn't really count. No. Please. Plebeians. Play artisan. Beat. Corn chucker. Barney lover. Bricklayer. Bitsayer. Bitsayer. Bitsayer. Chimney sweep. It might be time for another Mikey Show haiku. I don't know. M1 Ladybug from Sarah Mesa. Hey, how are you guys doing? Good. Great. Glad to see you guys back on the radio. Or Mikey anyways. Well, it's all of it. Hey, listen. This is the Mikey Show.
This is the Mikey show. Thanks for just listening to Mikey. She turns it down when I talk. Well, she means because a lot of us weren't on the radio before. I was actually calling because what the last caller said, he was saying that, you know, yeah, what they did was wrong, but wearing their t-shirts wasn't wrong. And you know what? It is wrong because they didn't do it to support America. They did it to be jerks. If you do something for the wrong reasons, it's wrong. That was the most eloquent and perfect way you could have put that. And I agree with you wholeheartedly. 5701949 or text 949mikey at gmail.com. This is Pantera. First, I want to introduce everybody to somebody. Do you remember this?
Oh, that's good. That's me screaming in the audience. Yeah, I bet. That was Lauren. Big Mountain was the band and they had a big, big top ten hit called Baby I Love Your Way. And the lead singer was Kino. And he's in the studio right now. The reason that he's here is because... He's actually, you know, he still does gigs, but he lives here in San Diego. In fact, he's a teacher right here in San Diego with a fascinating story. And listen, I get all kinds of stuff all the time. Can we have this person as a guest? Can we have this person as a guest? And when I started to read a little bit about you, Kino, I was like, I got to talk to this guy. Oh, man, thank you. Interesting guy.
Let's kind of rewind before we get to you being a teacher. We'll get back to that. But talk to me about 1994. The song Baby I Love Your Way went as high as number six, right? Yeah. That song went as high as number six on the pop charts. But tell me, how did you guys come together as a band and what made it pop? You know, there was a real cool reggae scene that was happening in San Diego back in those days. I think Winston started a reggae night on Thursday nights in about 1989, I believe. And, you know, Bill Winston, just a forward thinker, he decided he wanted to have a reggae band. It was something different. There was a number of different reggae bands, but the bands that really played there were Common Sense. the name of Big Mountain before was Shiloh and a band called Carter Freefers. And we were all just experimenting with reggae, man, and just, you know, creating a sound, playing reggae the best we thought. I mean, of course, we thought we sounded Jamaican. But, you know, you listen back now, and we were far from that. But, you know, I think a lot of it had to do...
with the fact that it was novel. It was something that was, you know, the idea of a non-African-American or non-African-looking person singing reggae. We had a hit in 1992 called Touch My Light that did really good in Southern California. It was top five in L.A. How old were you? I graduated high school in 1984. So in 1992... God, I'm not a math teacher. You were 24. No, no, no, no. You were 26. 26. Okay. 26. And that's right, because when Baby I Love Your Weight came out in 94, I was 28. Yeah. So talk to me about, so you had already had a hit back in 92? Mm-hmm. Okay. So when this thing happened. Did a manager come to you and go, hey, you guys, this is really starting to pick up some steam, this baby I love your way? The manager came to us in about 1990. And, you know, he knew the inner workings of the business. He said, you know, classic manager stuff. You got the look. Your dreads need to get a little longer. You know, and you got the voice. And let's do it.
You know, I mean, we were just, it's so funny because I wrote, you know, I wrote my first hit in 1992 and I haven't been able to get back, you know, to, it's just something when you're young, things just spontaneously happen, man. You're not trying, you just have a guitar in your hand and it's just coming out pure. And that's what was going on back then. The 92 hit though, tell me the name of that one. Touch My Light. Okay, Touch My Light's a hit in 92. Touch My Light's a hit in 92. But Touch My Light was not a hit in London and Paraguay and Sydney, Australia. No, no. And it wasn't really a hit east of the Mississippi. You know, the funny thing about that record was that we did a version in English and a version in Spanish, which is also very novel. I mean, there wasn't really any reggae happening in Spanish at that time. I'm bilingual. The disc jockeys down in the station in El Centro spliced their own Spanglish version. Oh, no way. So this is like back when they were still using tape and they were doing that kind of stuff. But with Baby I Love Your Way, at some point, and that's what I really want to find out is, when did you go, holy cow, I think we're kind of stars right now. When did that happen with Baby I Love Your Way? You know what happened was because of Touch My Light, Ron Fair.
the producer of Baby I Love Your Way, at the time, A&R over at RCA, he was putting together, he was in charge of the compilation for Reality Bites. Oh, the movie Reality Bites. The writer and stiller. And... The Baby I Love Your Way, the Peter Frampton version, was in the actual movie. It was in one of the scenes. He came up with the idea to do a reggae version. We were, at the time, were banging on the radio in L.A. And one thing led to another. He asked us to do a demo. That was it. And that was it. And, of course, RCA, it was a big movie soundtrack. You know, Ron Fair spent way too much money on the production of that record than he should have, and they had to sell it, unfortunately for us. On the production of Baby I Love Your Way? Yeah. Now, when you say that, because I've heard that said, but I don't understand it.
When you say that he spent a lot of money on the production of that record, what does that mean? Like cassette tapes? Like what are we talking? What did the money, like saying we're going to hire a producer and this producer costs this much money. We're going to hire a recording space and the recording space costs this much money. We're going to get a tour bus to get these kids to come from San Diego to Los Angeles to record. Like what was the money spent on? The money was spent on getting all these. you know, amazing studio musicians to come in and make this record huge. And the fact that he was experimenting with it, we were in a big studio, you know, I mean, the studio that we had been in, we were already accustomed to good studios, two-inch studios, but nothing like what we were walking into. L.A. or here in San Diego? L.A. L.A. And, I mean, just to give you, you know, an idea, I mean, if you were a sort of a real... Studio musician head, you would know names like Abraham Laboreal. Like, for instance, Jerry Hay and Gary Grant, Earth, Wind & Fire, Horn section. Now, wait a minute. Now, I don't, but I know musicians. There's a lot of musicians that are like, I know who those guys are. Those are big guys. Now, when this is happening, I know you had the success from before, but even as a guy that had experienced some level of success, this still had to be.
Oh my gosh, this is kind of blowing up a little bit, right? I mean, were you starting to now meet people that were bigger names and being exposed to things that were new? Or was there literally no change between the hits in 92 and Baby I Love Your Way in 94? You know, we opened up Sunsplash in 92. We were able to squeak on to an opening position. I can remember we had 15 minutes. Wow. to play. And Reggae Sunsplashback, you know, I think the people on that bill were Freddie McGregor, you know, Marcia Griffiths, Electric Slide, Shinehead, you know, there really wasn't, I mean, there was some, back then, still very big names. And the very next year, we were headlining it. Wow. And we went and we did it. We did about a 30-day tour across the U.S. We ended up going to Japan. In a bus? Oh, well, that's another funny thing. In 92, we literally had a 38-foot school bus. Yeah.
And we had built like these wooden bunks and we followed. I mean, I think back now these people must have just been going, oh, my God, because we just look like, you know, a bunch of Southern California hippies. Right. Hopping in and out of the school bus. Right. And and the next year we it was funny because we spent all this money on this tour bus. And then the next year, the next year, our manager couldn't get anybody to write. OK, but we're ahead of ourselves. But tell me about the tour bus. Tell me about this tour bus. Oh, man. It was, we had this, the heater could never reach the back. And we used to take this tour bus, like, you know, the ski belt used to be our main work. Like we'd do, you know, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico type thing. We'd make this big loop around the western part of the United States. And we had this. This big, one of those propane heaters where you just stick that propane thing on top of the tank. Yeah. And we would like bungee cord it to the side of the rail. This is the Baby I Love Your Way tour bus? No, no. That's the one I want to know about. I want to know about Baby I Love Your Way tour bus. Oh, man. That's the ghetto tour bus you're telling me about. I want to know about when you upgrade to the Baby I Love Your Way. So you go from 15 minutes at Sunsplash to now you're headlining. Now we're headlining. When you're headlining.
Tell me what that tour bus is like and what it was like when you walked onto it. I thought it looked like the Starship Enterprise, man. Beautiful, right? Yeah, it was beautiful. It had, I mean, you know, back then having a TV and video games in the very back was like, I mean. Incredible. It was incredible. You made it. Yeah, we made it. You made it. And we had like, I think it slept 15. And I basically, you know. camped out in the very back. TVs. Yeah, TVs, stereos. And you're headlining. And we're headlining. Do we have any girls on that bus? Jeez. What do you think, buddy? Guy was 28 years old from Southern California. Yeah, sharp kid with long dreads. Those that were brave enough to board, yeah. Real sweet voice. Sweet voice, guitar playing. Guitar player. Come on. All right, so. I knew I should have practiced more. So, what happened? You know, We were with Warner Brothers at the time. And, you know, things were hitting back then. Reggae was big. It was us, Maxi, Inner Circle, you know, La La Long. It was a heyday. We had our little, you know, time where, man, you know, the reggae bands were in demand. Reggae Sunsplash Tour.
You know, fell apart. Unfortunately, the founder of Reggae Sunsplash, Tony Johnson, a good friend of mine, he passed away. I think it was like 95, 96. You know, we kept on tour in Japan. Baby I Love Your Way was the number one song in Japan in 1994. So Japan was our bread and butter for a while. I bet. You know, we probably went over there about 20 times between like 94 and 2004. And we still hit it up once in a while. Which is amazing because, you know, for people that don't understand that. You walk, you know, you go from being a pretty big hit here in America and you step onto Japanese soil and you are a superstar on that soil. And people see you and they flip out when they see you. Yeah. Big time. Big time. It's like they can hardly breathe. I don't know what it is about. Yeah. That amazing. Those are amazing stories to me. How you go from literally you turn overnight. One minute. You guys are bungee courting a bunch of propane tanks together to try to get heat. And the next minute, you're headlining a big reggae tour on a giant tour bus with video games and, you know, big screen TVs on board, nice air conditioning, all plush, flying 20 times back and forth. Five-star hotels and just getting wined and dined by record executives in Austria and Japan and, you know, just all over Europe. You know, at the time that it was happening, did you think to yourself, it's going to happen forever. This is great.
It's my new life. I have to admit. Yeah. You know, it just it things just kept on clicking. You know, it was like we couldn't we couldn't make a mistake. And but at times where you're sitting out at that five star hotel pool, you're sitting there with the shades on at the pool and you're just like, this ain't bad. Hey, I'll get another champagne. Can we get another bottle service over here? Cristal, please. A little Cristal. I mean, so so the reggae thing kind of starts to end. Did it happen as. quickly as it started or was it a decline you know it was a series of i think it was it was a series of us just trying to patch up holes that that seemed to you know want a record company i mean we were we were with a division of warner that I mean, classic situation. The guy that signs you ends up leaving. You're on a label. Nobody knows you. And it's like, you know, your main backer's gone. And you're sitting there. Your manager's trying to fight for money and fight for, you know, for them to invest in your project. You know, it was like different people, different entities started to come into the band, managers. And, you know, I have to admit, I really started to get a bad taste.
for the music business in general. I mean, where we came from, I mean, for us, I mean, you got to think, why would a bunch of little, you know, musicians from Southern California choose reggae? It was because... we really did believe in the message. We had been inspired by Bob and Steel Pulse, bands like that. And we recognized where we had a message. Some of it was sort of like Chicanismo. We sang a lot about border issues, identity issues. You know, the whole classic 19... 60s, 70s, progressive, hippie sort of. But now you're watching it turn into this. It's a machine. It's a business. It's a Warner Brothers. It's an A&R guy. It's a this. It's a that. Yeah. Politics. Now, we got to fast forward a little bit. Trust me. I could do this till noon because this stuff's fascinating to me. But about what you're going to be doing. He's going to be playing at the Royal Dive in Oceanside, May 14th, which even considering going because it's fascinating stuff to me and I want to see it. He still sings with Big Mountain right here in San Diego.
But I'm talking to Kino. He's a lead singer. He's a beautiful voice. You heard singing on that. So a little bit. Now, right? It's different from hard. I mean, you know, we were always, we always did our best to keep it, to keep it level and keep it real. And I think that there was a kind of a point where everybody says, you know what? This isn't really happening. We're not making enough money to stay on the road. And it was time to make a decision. You know, we, you know, when you're young, you can gamble. You start having kids. You meet a nice woman. Yeah. You don't want to take any chances. You say, you know what? I better just get the regular gig, something with benefits. Yeah. And you were from San Diego at the time. Yeah, I grew up in San Diego, graduated from Crawford High School. He is now a high school teacher at Olympian High School in Chula Vista. And they recently found out that they are the number one high school in Sweetwater Union High School District. Their whole focus is on getting kids ready for college. Graduated their second senior class this year, right? Yes. Incredibly, incredibly blessed in terms of smart kids that you're really finding a way to motivate. Yeah. But now, here's the thing that I found so interesting about you. And I said, man, I want to talk to him, ask him about this. So kids come up to him, they go, Mr. McQuinney, you still smoke weed?
You still smoke ganja? They said, how come you cut your dreads? They said, what are you doing here anyway? And your answer was, I was either going to kill myself on the road as a traveling musician or I was going to be a good father and husband. Tell me about that. You know, you could be so cool and look cool and... They have a real cool demeanor, but inside we're all humans, man, and we get lonely. And I think those people, they can handle like a life like that on the road where you're so displaced, where you spend so much time away from sort of your community and your family. I got to hand it to them. I wasn't cut out for that type of life. And, you know, it got to a point in my life where I said, you know what, I really want to. I really want to live a regular life. And I want to be somebody that's present in my community. I want to be a force in my community. I want to help my community, man, try to do whatever I can to make it better. And that was a decision I had to make. I love music. I could never leave it. I mean, it's something that's with me every single minute of my life. But there is more to being a superstar.
Yeah, I mean, clearly, you got a great gig where you are making a difference with kids. That is what I love. So here's my question to you with these kids that you got the number one high school. What's the secret? What are you doing with these kids that's different? And if there's some high school here in San Diego, you got a teacher listening right now, driving to school, wondering themselves, how do I get my kids to be doing it? What's the secret? What do you do? You know, I am fortunate to work. with some amazing educators. And we've developed a curriculum at Olympian High School that is school-wide. I mean, we still teach the regular, you know, subjects, but we also have a school-wide emphasis on preparing kids for college. And it involves teaching them six specific skills that will help things like, you know, understanding how to describe, summarize. relate and apply skills that they're learning analysis synthesis evaluation also really important kids interested in that though because like as you're saying i'm like well those are big words yeah yeah well we do six weeks the whole school focuses on each skill for six weeks you must be a fun teacher though because like kids got it like how do you get kids to pay attention i just didn't pay attention you're clearly getting kids to pay attention you know i have a principal that is always in the classroom
I mean, I think that administration has to be hands on. When the cat's away, the mice will play, you know. And if the administration is not in the rooms helping teachers and not inspecting, you know what I mean? This whole idea of I'm here to intimidate you. I'm here to keep an eye on you. No, I'm here to support you. That's what the administration has to be doing for teachers in the classroom. That's cool. They go in the room. They go in the room. Like the principal. He walks in there. He walks in. Oh, man. It's an everyday occurrence in my classroom. He's not there to go in and hawkeye everybody. He's in there to say, this is our community. We're all here for the common good. Totally. That's awesome. And I'm interested in this curriculum as well. I want to see these kids. Absolutely. Hey, listen. All I know is it's making a number one school. I'm good with that. Do whatever you got to do, man. I love it. Keno. You're going to be at the Royal Dive in Oceanside. Yes. May 14th. Tomorrow. Tomorrow? I was just going to say. Okay, that's tomorrow night. What time do you guys go on stage and how can people, do you just go down and what's the deal? You know, I, gosh, I mean, I guess, yeah, the Royal Dive, I put it up on my Facebook. It should be, you know.
The whole marketing idea of this is something that I'm trying to get better at. But, I mean, we're going to be down there. I think we're going to be starting around 9 o'clock. That is so great. You just show up and play, don't you? We're ready to tear it up, man. I got a great reggae band. You know, some boys down from the South Bay that are backing me up. A band called Roots Covenant. And, you know, we're about high energy. He's like me. He just shows up. Where's the microphone? I'll blow. Yeah, let's go. That's me. That's it. You know, same deal. Same bit. I love it. Keno, how cool, man. Tomorrow night, go see him. Royal Dive, Oceanside. Be very cool. And, dude, I appreciate you coming in here, man. It was really cool to talk to you. Ah, you too. Kid's picking the music today, and he does it real sweetly. You know that. Real sweetly. I do them on Monday. I get so excited for my picks, I just get it done on Monday. Yeah, good musical taste, dude. Thanks, buddy. We all do. You don't. All right. I'm just kidding. You know what I love? Sienna's music makes... Sienna's music, I love it. Thanks, Mike. I do. I love... I said all of you. He likes bubblegum. Bubblegum stuff. I have a wide variety. I like melodies. Yeah. I like melodies.
It's got a melody. I love it. STP's king of the melodies. You know who's music I like on our show? Todd's. I love Todd's music. You're saying that Sienna's picks are all Todd's picks? No, no, no. You can tell which of my picks. Oh, yeah. It's the best. Because Todd and my songs are all mixed. Do you guys share an iPod? No, he has one and I have one. We share iTunes. We share iTunes. A computer, yeah. We share everything. We love each other. I know. We're a team. We share passwords, too, right? We do. I know all of his passwords. Do you, do you? Team Woods. Team Woods. WoodsFamily at Yahoo.com. Email us anytime you like. I really want that to be an actual email. I think I would go into it. You should. Nine marriage rules that you should break. What do you got? Are you ready, Mike? Yes. Okay. I'm going to be irritated. No, some of these you're going to agree with. Okay. Never go to bed angry. It's a good one. Check. No, they say break that rule. Oh, see? Whoa. Okay, here we go. You want to break that. Why do we want to break it? Because trying to work through a problem when you're tired and stressed won't get you anywhere. That's a lie. You have to agree with that, though. That's a lie. I'll tell you. I'm not married. Go ahead, Lauren. But when I, it doesn't matter who I'm upset with, if I sleep on it, next day I'm like, what am I so heated about? Exactly. Calm down. You'll be that way either way.
No, not necessarily. Really? If you try to force the, okay, well, let's just decide right now who was right. Well, you don't have to say that. Who's saying, listen, you don't have to say that. Metaphorically speaking. That's Lauren's world for sure. No, but if you're going to be like, I am not going to bed angry, then you're going to decide like, okay, we need resolution right now. No, I don't think so. Because we don't find resolution. We just don't go to bed all mad at each other. We agree, hey, listen, maybe we talk about it tomorrow. You can't always control anger either. It's an emotion. See, for me. It's not. Oh, man. Anger is not an emotion. It's something that masks three very real emotions. Hurt, sadness, and fear. That's your bit. But can you think of a time that you were angry and you weren't hurt, sad, or fearful? Yeah, when I stubbed my toe. You were hurt? Hurt? I'd have to go through the... Laundry list of times that I was angry. You were hurt, sad, or fearful. Here's the thing. I'm not saying you go, okay, we're sitting down, we're not leaving this room. I'm not saying that. That's dumb. Who's going to do that? Nobody does that. But all you do is you go, you could even be all, you know, irritated and go, let's talk about it tomorrow. I try that bit. It doesn't work. What do you mean? I try that bit with the wife. If we're fighting, I'm like, we'll just talk about it tomorrow. And I'd like roll over and try to go to bed. Oh, no. And she's like, that's not happening.
What if? Me and Lauren are like that. We don't like to work it out. We want to work it out right now. Right? You do, right? Yeah, usually. But I am just saying, though, sometimes I'm, like, fuming that night. And I'm like, all right, we're still going to give a kiss goodnight. And I'm not going to, like, be a jerk. But the next day, I'm like, gosh, why did it bother me? That's so good. You should do that. You should at least try to do the little. I love you. I love you. I hate you right now. I hate you right now. I hate you right now. I love you. But I love you, but I hate you. I want to work it out. Let's talk tomorrow. I'm just tired. I've got to get up at 3 o'clock in the morning. What do you want from me? I've got to get up in two hours. It's very specific, Woods. Yeah, wow. I mean, hypothetically speaking, of course. That might be what it sounds like. That could be what happens at my house. With our job, it's like forget fighting at night because it's going to ruin me. It's going to ruin me. I'm like, I have to wake up in five minutes, jerk. Forget everything at night. Yeah. You guys can go to bed mad. We try not to, but Todd will for sure be like, let's just talk about it tomorrow. And for me, if we're in an argument and he's just trying to go to sleep, I'm so mad. I can't fall asleep if I'm upset. I toss and I turn and I'm miserable. Have you ever had to sleep on the couch? No, we've never done that. Has Todd? No. No.
22 years, I've never, we've always slept in the same room even after we fought. Are things going over there in Perfect Town? Over in Perfect Town? Really, you guys? You should try it. Maybe you should try it. I would like an invitation. Yeah, it's nice over here. I've slept on the couch before. Slept in the spare bedroom before. Have you? Yeah, a kid got the hammer dropped on him a couple times. And she kicked you out of there? Yeah. That's funny. Or I laughed, one of the two. Oh, I'm sure. I'm leaving. The kid doesn't like to be told what to do. I'm trying to get that through her head that the kid doesn't like to be told what to do. It's not working. She hasn't figured that out? After nine years together. Speaking of sleeping in separate beds, that's another one. This rule, which you should break, is you should never sleep in separate beds. I hate this list. It makes me... Why? You like that. You sleep in the same bed you don't... That's what they're saying. That's what they're saying. No, they're saying you're not. This list is saying... You're not supposed to... It's okay if you don't always sleep in the same bed. Oh, shut your lips. Okay, but listen, it's not necessarily about... No, Lauren! No! I'd like to hear what it says on there. It's a war on marriage. They're trying to split people apart. Do I sound echoey? No. I'm freaking out in my headphones. No. I feel like I'm yelling from the background. No. I don't know what's going on. Maybe you're...
Bear headphones, bro. I don't know. Okay, you should never sleep in separate beds, so you can. What if your significant other snores? My eyes snore like a bear. It doesn't have to mean fighting. Maybe divorce. Maybe divorce. They're not saying divorce. Really, Sally? Divorce over snoring? I do. What are you saying? So they snore. Okay, you've got to sleep. They're your husband or your wife. No, you can go in the next room if you need a night's rest. Are you kidding me? Michael. You think that's an indication of a bad marriage? No, no, no, no. Hang on a second. Hang on. Maybe what we do is we quit focusing on the runny nose and maybe we solve the problem. How about you get something that helps you to stop? It doesn't always help. It doesn't always help. I've tried breathe ride strips. Surgery. I tried a stupid sleep mask. What did the doctor say? The one where I'm shooting down Migs. What did the doctor say? You know, that one. Jamie doesn't leave the room, does she? She doesn't go somewhere else. But if she is like sawing logs, I'll be like, I'm going to the guest room. That doesn't mean we have a bad marriage. No, no, I don't think so either. How about my sleep? Yeah, I get it, but that is... I think it's a selfless act. But wait a minute. Yeah, it's actually the sweetheart. Is that really the spirit of what... Yeah, yeah. So they're saying if your spouse snores, I thought what they were saying is, hey, just in general. Yeah, you know what? If you're not really feeling it, go to another room. Are you sure? I think that's why I wanted to hear more of what the explanation was.
I think it's saying about snoring. It starts off saying, um, snore much? Question mark. It's about, yeah, it's about snoring and getting a good night's sleep is crucial to the health for your mind and body. I agree. But I say fix the problem. I think there's a way to fix the problem. So what do you do? Make an appointment if there's going to be any action that night? Yeah, you make an appointment. You go, hey, how about nine o'clock tonight? We make love. Then I'll go back to my room. That's perfect. Please, man. Never mind. How about you get an operation or something? Yeah, but it doesn't always fix everything. Right now, because I'm pregnant, for some reason, I am the craziest sleeper on the planet. What? And Todd... They're all... They'll get you snored right now. You can't just... Well, Sienna, honestly, don't you agree? First of all, it's an invasive procedure. I'm trying to give an example. You're going to take, like, a chance on your life because you don't want to sleep in a separate bed for a night? One night. I don't have an issue with. Well, it's from time to time. Sometimes you look spread out. We don't all have giant wireless headphones that we wear to bed. Like, this is the Sparza. Really? They sell these things now. They look like mouthpieces.
I saw it on an infomercial. It's supposed to make you stop snoring. I'm like, that's what Woods needs. Make it right for the kids. If you don't get a good night's sleep, though, and it's because of your significant other, think about how cranky they're going to be in the morning, and they're going to blame you, and it's going to turn into a fight for nothing you could have done because that's just the way you sleep. Here it is. I don't get a good night's sleep because my wife can snore like a lumberjack. I come in here. I yawn. Then Mikey yells at me because I yawn, and then I go home and yell at Jamie for keeping me up. Do I go, what? You ass. You're so brave. I can't believe you. I get scolded. I look at you and I give you that look like, really? And it's like daggers in my heart. Really? Daggers in my heart. I haven't let Todd go to another bedroom, but I think I might because apparently the pregnancy makes me a crazy sleeper. And I feel bad. Daggers in my heart. You should be able to. How did you feel the other day, Woods, when... Mikey yawned on the air. That was ecstatic. I caught you again. I know when I did it. I know when I did it. We looked at each other. I know when I did it. And I didn't open mouth down. I did one of these. Still did it? Still did it. Oh, I know. And I was like, I know they saw that. Here's me now. I know they saw that. Here's me. Woods and I looked at each other and we...
nodded at each other. They're like, yep, catalog. Catalog. Catalog. She puts it in the catalog. I forget about it, but she puts it in the catalog. Oh, she's a total catalog girl. I can't help but yawn. I just do. It can be three in the afternoon. I'm like, ah! Which is like, hey, did you see the Tonight Show last night? It was great. It was really good. I'm like, really, dude? I'm down for a few minutes while I educate your butt. Let your voice be on the Mikey Show now. How are these levels, friends? Call 570-1949. Or text. Or text. So we have more marriage rules that we should break. Before we do, people are actually calling about the last one, which Sienna said, one of the marriage rules that a study says. I read from this, yeah, there we go. People think that I come up with this stuff sometimes. I know they do. I'm like, okay, no, I'm doing my job. Yeah, she's just reading the list. It's a bit. It's a bit. Well, this study says that it's not that important that you sleep in the same bed. I'm like, gee, I tea with that. Stop it. I think it's saying don't be afraid to make exceptions if it's going to adversely affect your sleep or your health. Yeah, maybe work it out. Oh, boy. Really? Maybe hold my hand over her mouth while she snores. No, I'm curious. You get that little breather right. Or you get the...
A mouthpiece. Turn a little, you know, football player with a mouthpiece in. Make it look like Manny Pacquiao. That's comfortable. M1 Mean Gene from the state of Georgia. Are you listening online? Yeah, bro, you know that. Nice. Are you stateside or what, man? Are you overkicking it, drinking champagne with the king of Austria? I'm only in the states for about two more weeks when I head over to Moldova and Eastern Europe. How come you sleep in different beds? Well, it turns out your boy gets a little hot sometimes when he goes to bed. Girlfriend, not much. So it kind of gets a little hard for me to go to sleep when, you know, it's 150 million degrees. And so, you know, here's what I'll do, straight up. I'll let her get her little sleep on just five minutes after she's getting her little Z's going. I'm on the couch, bro. That's sweet of you. He's my favorite.
You let her fall asleep. Mean Gene is the best. Mean Gene. That voice kills me. Isn't it great? I love it. Real sweetly. Real sweetly. Mean Gene, you got to call in all the time. Why don't you call in more? Call in daily. Yeah. Yeah. You got to be a daily bit. When are you coming to visit us, dude? Well, I was going to come when you guys went on vacay, but you bailed on me. Yeah. I know it. I know it. Well. Yeah. Well, hey, man. I had to get here. You come. You come back, though, dude. We'll make it right. Absolutely. I'll take care of you anytime. You know that. Have a Georgia peach for us while you're at it. Yeah, bring us some Georgia peaches. Real sweetly. All right. Thanks, Mean Gene. M1 Chris from Kearney Mesa. Are you there? Hello. Hi, Chris. Hey, what's going on? Not too much. Hey, yeah, about the topic you guys are talking about. My thing is this. It's like sometimes like even though there's like a logical reason why you might do something, your spouse isn't necessarily going to see it that way. You know what I mean? We're emotional beings. And so you could still hurt your wife's feelings because she's not necessarily going to go straight to, oh, that's a logical point. You know what I mean? Like, you know, oh, honey, you know, I'm going to go sleep in the other room because, you know, somebody parked a motorboat next door to me. You know what I mean? Like, you know, she's not going to feel good about that. I mean.
When it comes to, like, your marriage, you know, it's not really so much about yourself, but about the, you know, your wife or your husband, you know? So it's like. Yeah, but if you have to wake up in a few hours and you haven't slept at all because of her snoring, get out and go to sleep. Beat it. Yeah. And she'll probably get her feelings hurt. But whatever, she'll get over it. Really? She'll get over it. You're probably going to get in trouble for it. Trying to get her to sleep so you can go bring home the bacon to the family. I could see me being like, why'd you leave? Like, I would totally pull that card, but I would get over it if he was like, look, you were snoring. L-O-B. Slaying me right now. He's a hypocrite. He just said he went and yelled at Jamie because Jamie was snoring. So I guarantee the next time that happens, instead of yelling at her, he'll go and get out of bed. Will you? Will you do that? Yeah, I've done it before. Hey, M1 Morgan Hill is calling in from Morgan Hill to call me up. He's listening up north. He or she? Hello? M1 Morgan Hill, are you listening online? No, no, actually, I live in San Diego, but I'm from Morgan Hill. And what were you calling to call me out on? Because I seem to remember a time where you actually got Rebecca on the radio up north on 92.3. You actually proposed to her that you're like, honey, we have to get two separate beds because we got to sleep comfortably. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. I'm sure I did. How's old? Yeah, it was actually kind of hilarious. Yeah.
You got scared because she's like, okay, yeah, we can sleep in two separate beds from now on. And then you're like, oh, wait, what did I do? Yeah. How about this? How about two separate beds in the same room? You got a problem with that? Yeah, you still hear the snoring. Really, Lucy? Is that right? Yeah, that's what my grandparents did. You got a problem with it? Of course. Why? You got to sleep right on top of each other? What's the deal? What are we, roommates? What if your wife has a Jimmy leg and she scratches the crap out of your leg? Yeah, for sure, dude. Get out of the dormitory, will you? Oh, my God. Living in a dorm? You guys in Perfect Town? Really? Perfect Town is one bed. Perfectville, one bed. That is Perfectville. Perfectville is one bed. Hey, I'm a cuddler, dude. I sleep with the leg over the wife the whole bit. Do you really? Yes, I'm playing devil's advocate here. I fall asleep like that. I wake up totally on opposite sides. I know, that's a deal. Whenever I'm away from Kim, I don't sleep as well either. It's like we're in the same bed. I'm a cuddle bug. With Kim? That's just weird. Write that down. I'm a cuddled bug. I'm a cuddled bug. Did we go through all of them? Oh, no. There are so many more. We're never going to get through them. We're going to have to do it again tomorrow. Just give me a couple. Okay. This is going to make you mad. I can't just do this and have it be okay. Maybe go to the next one. No, I want to go to the one. We only got five minutes. Okay, fine. I'll go to another one that won't make you as upset. Never vacation without each other. That is a rule that you should break.
I agree. That's hideous. So go on vacation without each other sometimes. You get really into golf, and me and you go to South Carolina on a golf trip. That's different. How's it different? Why is it different? It's a vacation. It's different because you and I are taking a trip to go golf or whatever. If Rebecca had something that she was going to go do with Whitney or whatever, whatever. That's a vacation. That's a vacation. Spa weekend. I think that's different than, hey, I tell you what, honey, you and Whitney, you guys go to South Carolina. Me and Woodsy, we're going to Maui. Please. No, you don't go to a lover's destination with your buddy. Yeah, you and I aren't going to Tahoe to go to look for waterfalls or anything. A little cabin. For the honeymoon suite. Yeah, right? The example is like, you know, girls want to go away for a spa weekend, just girl time. Guys want to go on a guy's camping trip. Jay just went away with the guys to Mexico. You don't want to surf trip. I'm not against trips with the guys to go surf. Well, that's what this is saying. That's what it's saying. No. Yes, it is. You're so anti this article. It's saying, I know, he's going to argue every single one. I don't believe that's what it is. See, there's this thing now where people, married couples, they take vacation time. Like, in other words, they block out a week. They say, in the month of June, from the 25th to the 28th, we're going on vacation, or from the 25th to the 31st, we're going on vacation. Okay. And where are you going, honey?
No. Dude, I'm telling you, this is a thing. We've discussed it on the radio before. I'm telling you, it's a thing. It's an actual thing. I don't think that's what this article is saying. I bet you it is. It's a cultural phenomenon that people are doing. I've never heard of that. If you take time off, usually it's with your family. Absolutely. Of course. But there are occasional times when it's not. Like maybe, you know, your other spouse has to stay home with the kids if it's not the type of trip that the kids can go on. If I produce said phenomenon, I want to see it. Will you be like, whoa, that's weird? Yeah, for sure. Because that does ring as weird to you. No, that's weird. It's weird. Like, hey, Jamie's going to go. Where's Jamie? Where are you guys going on vacation? Oh, Jamie's going to Hawaii and I'm going with my bros. And she's going with her girls. And, you know, they want to go to Tahoe and gamble. I don't think that's that weird. And me and my boys are going to Vegas. But wait a minute. Don't you guys get two weeks of vacation? Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is one of our weeks. She's going to Tahoe with her girls. I'm going to Vegas. I don't think it's that weird when you put it that way. But you better make it right and have a vacation with the wife or you're a dead man. Of course. You're a dead man. But that's not what that is. All of your vacation time does not need to be with the wife. It doesn't all have to go to her. Oh, Sally, come on. We need to continue this. I'm saving it. We're bringing it back tomorrow because...
There's so many things that you're going to be upset about, Mike. The whole thing's going to make me want to barf. Hi, Hill. Hillary, how are you doing? I was just kind of listening. Like, my husband goes to Hawaii for surf trips. And you go somewhere else? Well, and I do girls weekends, not at the same time. See, that's totally different. Like, I love that stuff. I love that. No, that stuff's cool. Because Mikey and I are planning a golf trip. No, we're not. Yeah, it's this. You should. We're going to plan vacation time. Where are you going? I don't know. Where are you going? That's weird. That's weird. That's Viet. That's Viet. Let's see. 570-1949 is the number. And always have our text with you. In fact, load it into your address book. 949mikey at gmail.com. Over under for strokes that I take over 18 holes. I'm going to say genuinely. 300. What? That's about right. Yeah, and I'll take the over. It's the first time. I'll take the over. 300? Yeah, I'll take the over. Well, you're not going to have that many because we're playing best ball. That's right. You're going to have however many we have. We'll zoom right through. Okay. 120. No, dude, our team, we're going to shoot. If we factor in our handicaps, we're winning this thing. Really? Yeah. Okay. Woods, I'm freaked out. I'm feeling it today. So, tomorrow morning. Yeah, you guys freaked out about the bet? Tomorrow morning, people will know who wins Woods or Jay. Are we going to announce it tomorrow morning? Yeah.
Either Jay's eating veal or you're eating Indian food. I hope that guy likes the taste of veal. Let's see who wins. I hope you like the taste of Indian food. Either way, it's a phenomenon. I think you guys will both like the taste of both of those things. Because they're good. What do you got coming up today, Hill? I'm going to play that new Hold Steady song, The Weekenders, because I sort of can't get enough of it right now. And The Temper Traps and Radiohead and Them Crooked Vultures. But I'm going to start with some... Led Zeppelin. There you go. Yeah. All right, tomorrow morning, probably the first thing we do is announce who won the bet between Woodsy and Jay. I'm nervous for you guys. I'm not nervous at all. Yeah, right. Sure. Lovely and talented Hillary is up next. Mikey shows out. Bye. Financial media state. Mikey in the morning. About the music all day and night. FM 94.9. It's about the music.
