Let's get you on the phone, M1 Nation. It's a Mikey show. And we are open for business. 570-194-9 is our number. We want to hear from you. I feel pretty decent today. Yeah. Yeah. I drank a lot of that powdered stuff that you put into water called Airborne. And they say it works. And it worked for me. That was a fake bit. Maybe it is. Because Ella B doesn't use it. She feels better. Yeah. She feels better today. But I got a lot of rest, and I got a lot of Airborne and a lot of NyQuil. And just rested up, so I feel better today. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. And I'm 40 years old, and I'm wearing a green shirt. Peace. Woods is our sports guy. He's 35 years of age, and he has a beautiful blonde wife named Jamie. Gorgeous. He is a good friend and a lover. That did not sound like a clip. That sounded live. Jay likes to take clips out of context and just play them. You know, that's our producer Jay. That's what he does. He's a gift, isn't he? He is a gift. And then Lauren O'Brien, 30 years of age, she is our assistant producer.
She's wearing a green scarf today herself. Sienna is 26. And our news girl. And she's from La Jolla. And has two younger sisters. And Jay has four kids. He's 47. Feels real good. He's an old creep. He is a good friend and a lover. I didn't say that live. That was a clip that Jay played. Our phone screener is Chris. That's crap. That's crap. Craig Shoemaker. Comedian Craig Shoemaker will be in here at 8. Word of the day is boots. When you hear me say that between now and 10, caller 9 gets Rage Against the Machine tickets. Meows. Rise Against LA Rising. They're playing at the LA Coliseum on July 30th. Man, we got a lot to cover. You can call in about anything you want right now. Right here at the top of the show, we open up phones to you.
to allow M1 Nation to call in and talk about whatever they want. And M1's a Mikey show listener, so know the rules. Turn your radio down, get to the point, don't cuss. And spread the word. Let people know that the Mikey show is on FM 94.9. A lot of people don't know that. A lot of people think that I left the old station that I used to be on, on Rock 105, and that I just went into retirement or something. Yes. And I'm actually still on the radio with a new and improved show. And so we want you to tell everyone and get them to listen and sport that Mikey show sticker on your car. You can still get it out at San Diego Harley Davidson, the new Mikey show sticker or here at the radio station. We have it here at the radio station as well. So big breaking news two days ago was the the. deaths that happened in the skyline area of san diego and what do we know about it now sienna well it was uh you know two parents and two daughters a teenage daughter and a nine-year-old daughter that were all killed um the two daughters and the father were found in the pool the mother was found in the bathtub and now the in the san diego police announced yesterday that they the husband and wife they believe planned the deaths together it was a murder suicide so it wasn't
I assumed it was the dad. Yeah, everyone did. But they found notes from both parents, writings and stuff like that from both parents. So it seemed that both of them were in the know about what was going to be happening. They said that they don't know which role was played. Each of them played. They don't know why this happened. But I did say yesterday that there was a note left behind by the father that was saying they had financial problems. The house they lived in in Skyline was rented. It's just, it's a very sad story. They guessed it was all drownings. It was just how they died, but they did autopsies and it's going to take six to eight weeks to find out exactly the cause of death. I wonder how they would have drowned. It doesn't make sense. Unless they were shot or something. Yeah. I mean, everyone is going to immediately assume that the father shot them all or is the one that did the killing and then did himself. Because it's hard to drown yourself. Very hard. You know, your body kicks in and wants to come back up for air. Right. But there hasn't, I haven't seen anything about blood anywhere, nothing like that. Yeah. So maybe they took something. Took something. Yeah. Could be. Could we just let the kids live next time? Yeah. Oh, man. No kidding. It's awful. It's true. Yeah. Everyone that knows them is just.
So surprised by this. They're at the losing end of a lawsuit. I know that. The dad was on the losing end of a lawsuit and it was multi-million dollars. He owned a tow truck business. And he actually, the father called the nephew. And the nephew is the one that came over. And the nephew was under the impression that he was going over there to discuss business. And it was around 6.40 a.m. that he got there, which is a weird time to be coming over to discuss business. But he went there and he found all the bodies. And the nephew is the one that called 911. Wow. Yeah. 5701949. This is M1 ChemSauce from Oceanside. What's going on? Joe. What's up? Hey, so a couple of days ago, I noticed something on Fox 5, and I wanted to get your opinion on it. Right. Meteorologist Chrissy Russo, she's kind of a local celebrity, yeah? Yeah. Well, for the past week or so, she's looked a little bit in the family way, but hasn't said anything. Right. And we've all been tracking her online, and they were like, okay, just say it, just say it or whatever. Well, Tuesday morning, they had a couple of guys from an AM radio station that were broadcasting from the lot. Right. And one of them actually said, okay, so Chrissy, I've put you to the challenge. And he pulled out a pregnancy test and said, you guys got to go ahead and handle this, and we're going to find out right now. A little much? Yes? No? Well, I know she took the pregnancy test, and she's pregnant.
Yeah, we all did. We all knew she was pregnant, but was that a little overboard for, you know, the radio? To pull it out on live TV and say, do it? No. Not in my opinion. I don't think it is. Ladies? I think that there's no way they would do something like that without her knowing. Like that's something you don't just do something like that. I think it's a little much of someone to be like, oh, Sienna, you're looking bigger. Take this pregnancy test. You know, I would think she would know. Yeah. So what Sienna is saying is that it was planned, you know, most likely, you know, it would be very unusual for them to spontaneously. whip out a pregnancy test and ask her it was probably a deal where beforehand they said hey uh here's what we're thinking what do you think you want to do this and she was like okay and then they did it because what if she wasn't oh sorry i guess you're just fat yeah maybe don't eat so much lauren was that over the line to you as a woman i just wouldn't participate in that personally yeah if they had done that to you
without you knowing it, you would have probably said no, right? I would have said no, absolutely. And also, even if I knew it was coming, I don't think I would... It's just too private for that. Yeah, what would you do if they asked you, hey, can we do this? No, it's kind of a private moment. Private matter. But, you know, she decided that that's the way that she wanted to do it, and now the world knows that she's pregnant. What I was curious about was whether or not she was married. You know, I read an article in a local San Diego magazine, like... six years ago that gave like ages and statuses on you know local celebrities and she said something like every morning her husband watches her broadcast but she's never worn a ring ever and she never mentions her husband ever to me either oh she's probably not she's really beautiful little angel she's really beautiful and uh she's a you know she's one of my facebook friends and you know i've never met her I think he's everyone's friend, Mikey. Yeah. Mine. Mine, too. Oh, wow. Mine, too? Mm-hmm. I just Googled. Yeah. It said engaged. Oh. Yeah. Six years, maybe? Okay. Hello, B. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Oh, boy. Good morning, you guys. That was beautiful. Thank you, Camp Sauce. Get some good timing there. There you go, buddy.
Yeah. Brilliant. Chrissy Russo. I've wanted to have her on the show. Me too. They've asked us to go to the back lot and broadcast from the back lot and I've said no because I've seen people broadcast from the back lot and I don't know, it looks kind of cheesy. We can go. What? No. You're married and she's pregnant. Stop being a creep. I'm just saying, it'd be good for us. Get out of here every now and then. No. That's the only reason. Listen, if we go broadcast from there, we can't take calls and all that stuff. It's dumb. I mean, it's like four hours. It's not that big a deal. What if you just go see her? Like a museum. Yeah. You just make an appointment, Woods. You go by, you say hello. Jay and I will go. Hello, Chrissy. Yeah. Good morning, Chrissy. I am Woods. It's nice to meet you. You are beautiful and pregnant.
Wow, she must be pretty far along if they knew, you know? Congrats. Congratulations, Chrissy. Yeah. Barry Bonds is going to pay for an education woods? Yeah, Brian Stowe, who was the Giants fan that was severely beaten at Dodger Stadium. Barry went to visit his family in the hospital, met his two kids. He's got a son and a daughter and said, you know what? I'm paying for your college. Barry Bonds has been a pariah for years. And, you know, you never know why somebody does something like this. Is it to garner public favor or end of the day? Who cares? This is a really class move. Sure. And a great move. Very nice. Tim Linscom pitches for the Giants. He's also donated $25,000 to the Stowe Family Fund. And he's 42 years old. He's in critical but stable condition. And he's under heavy sedation. So, you know, you just hope this guy comes out of it.
If and when he does, he'll know his kids' educations are paid for by Barry Bonds. Wow. Which is awesome. It's very nice. Tip your skullcap to him. Yeah, sure. That's a nice move. Very much. I won't say goodbye. I'll just say until we meet again. Tomorrow. Oh, boy. On the O Network. Woodsy. Or on my magazine. I feel that's the strangest take. We can debate it. Let's debate it. I feel that's the strangest take. Really? Well, she's done a talk show for 25 years. Uh-huh. And she's no longer doing this talk show. Mm-hmm. Now, she is going to continue to do production of television shows. She'll do that. Right. But she won't be in people's living rooms every day doing a talk show anymore. She's a radio show. She's a radio channel on Sirius. It's different. Well, it's not only different, it's completely different. You think that's the last you're going to hear of Oprah Winifrey?
Of course not. But that's not what this is. She bothers me. You know that. I can't stand what her core message is. Are you kidding? I did a podcast this morning before I came to work. I woke up this morning at 1 a.m. so I could record a podcast. I do a Christian podcast called VOM on iTunes. You can hear a whole other take there that I won't give you here because I don't want to get fired. But if you'd like to hear my thoughts on it, you can just search VOM in iTunes. But yeah, I mean, she's done with her talk show. It's a pretty big deal to me. I'm all broken up about it myself. Unless you thought that tomorrow or next week there's going to be some new thing called... Oprah daytime. And it's like just Oprah repackaged in a different way, which I don't believe. Give it six weeks. There'll be something. Something. Can we make a... Would you be willing to put your money where your mouth is? Absolutely. $100 bet. I'm not going to go $100 on that pig, but I'll give you $25. I'll go $25 on you. Okay, $25. You'll see her realistically. She'll have some new program. Starring her. Starring her.
Before the end of the year is up. No question. Yes, I disagree with that. Okay, shake on it. But you said six weeks. Why are we shaking on the end of the year? Because I changed my mind. But she'll want to take some time, you know, probably go do some charitable work, which she'll film for a DVD series that she's going to put out. And then, you know, after this, she'll take a couple weeks off. She'll be like, I'm bored out of my mind. Nobody is talking about me anymore. I need a new show. I'll still take that bet. Okay. End of the year, you'll see there'll be a new Oprah show somewhere, somehow on television. You have not seen the last of that woman. I understand the manifestation of grace and God. So I know that there are no coincidences. There are none, only divine order here. But I'm truly amazed that I, who started out in rural Mississippi in 1954, when the vision for a black girl was limited to being either a maid or a teacher in a segregated school, could end up. here. It is no coincidence that a lonely little girl who felt not a lot of love, even though my parents and grandparents did the best they could. It is no coincidence that I grew up to feel the genuine kindness, affection, trust, and validation from millions of you all over the world. From you whose names I will never know, I learned what love is. You
and this show have been the great love of my life. Poor Stedman. He was there in the audience watching the whole thing. Did you forget about me or did you kick it here or meet you backstage? Did I just take it to the house? Did I just show you back in the green room or kind of been putting up with you for a while? Stedman's like... This last hour is really about me saying, thank you. It is my love letter to you. I want to leave you all with the lessons that have been the anchor for my life and the ones that I hold most precious. Every day that I stood here.
I knew that this was exactly where I was supposed to be. And there was many a day, Stedman can tell you, like so many of you, I came to work bone tired. And I often joke with my makeup team, my face is still in Cleveland, y'all. Can you get to Chicago by nine o'clock? But I showed up because I knew that you were waiting. You were waiting for whatever we had to offer. And that is why I never missed a day. In 25 years. Because you were hit. Wow. Take your pants off. That's impressive. What? What? He's saying that she's kissing her own butt. Yeah. Oh. Take your pants off, Oprah. Again. Well. She's a monster. She's a monster? She's a monster. You know I'm on team James Fry here, pal. I always have been. What she did to him was deplorable. Because she got egg on her face. She's deplorable. It's odd to call somebody a monster based on one incident. Yeah. No, I just never liked her, and I don't like the narcissism that she shows all the time. I mean, I'm standing in line at the grocery store, and I'm like, Oprah Magazine with Oprah. Yeah. Happy birthday, pal. It's nauseating. It's nauseating. She sells magazines. Does it? Yeah, it does. Apparently. Great. She's one of the richest people in the world. So's Warren Buffett, pal, but he doesn't have his own magazine with his face on it.
That gives a billion dollars a year to charity and you don't hear about it. Well, she does too. She's a TV star. Yeah, she's on film doing it. That's the other thing that bothers me. She's done a lot of good stuff for a lot of people. Oh, it's well documented. Some of it isn't. All of it is. Nah, come on, man. Come on. See, listen, you like to speak in hyperbole, which is fine. You like to take the truth and exaggerate it for effect, which is fine with me. When I do it, though, I want to say what the real deal is. And that is, I believe the truth is that she does a lot of stuff that we don't know about. You're right. She does a lot of things that she wants to publicize in her niceness. Right. But there are many things that she does that we simply don't know about. I know that is a fact because they've talked about the amounts of money and that we don't know where they, a lot of it is in separate things. We don't know about it. How do we know that it's happening? Well, we know that she, because she fills out IRS forms. Ah. All right. And so we know. But we don't know everything she does. My big thing with Oprah is her, she starts to talk about energy and all that stuff. The energy stuff scares the pants off me. She starts talking about that. I think about people that are tan-skinned, wearing shorts and rubbing crystals together in Sedona, Arizona. Yeah. I'm all in. Fermenting tea, if you know what I mean. Kombucha. That's right.
But anyway, so Okra Winifrey signed off yesterday. And somebody dressed the Cardiff kook like Okra Winifrey. Did you not? Saw it. Saw it. So did LLB. Oh, yeah. What does it look like LLB? Oh, it's hilarious. So there's a big wig on her. And then someone went, like, cut the face of, somehow got a life-size face of Oprah. Cut it off. Put it on the kook. Put a dress on her. She's holding a purse. She. Because a card of kook's a he. It's a statue of a guy on a surfboard. Holding a purse with an Oprah magazine coming out of it. Got like shoes tied on there. And then there was a whole display of Oprah books and magazines. All down at the bottom. I mean, it was elaborate. I mean, there's so much stuff. They have like empty Domino's pizza boxes down there too. It's always very elaborate. Just Snickers wrappers. So cruel. So cruel. Oh my God. It is so cruel. After the nationwide vote, the winner of American Idol season 10 is... The country dude. That's his name, isn't it? The country guy? CD. CD. Country dude. Country dude. He won, and Sienna loves him.
I didn't know that I would love him. When I first saw him, I was like, oh, guy, you know, he's got a deep voice. It's a good voice, but he's like a dork. Yeah, ain't no dork. And he has transformed, and I have the biggest crush on him now. 16, this kid. 17. 17. Almost legal. How come we get made fun of for being creepy? Because we're guys. Because we're guys. Because we're guys. He's so cute. Let's listen to him perform last night, all right? Let's. Now. taking the stage as the American Idol, ladies and gentlemen, Scotty McCrew. Thanks, y'all. Good to be here. Good to be here. I'm 17. Oh, my gosh. This is a single. Tiz? Yeah. Oh, wow. I might not have too much experience. Is he crying? No, he's laughing. So happy. But I know when love is real, love is real. Love you, Daddy. By the way, my heart. Rich old son, bitch. I just made a million dollars. Now I'm going to pop some bubbly. I love you this big. He's going through a lot right now. He's got emotions. I love you this big. Stop it. This big.
I can't afford. Well, listen, I can't vote. But I'll tell you what I can do. I could buy 800 acres in Tennessee tomorrow. What about the other chick? Lori and Elena? She'll probably make it big too, right? Yeah, she is great. And I think that they're in love. Wow. Oh, are they rumored to be a couple? No. Maybe. I think it's going to start because when they announced Scotty to be the winner, she leaned in and kissed him, and he kissed her, and he said this when he won. It's been a year since me and Lauren Alaina tried out. Now, me and her have been together since day one, and we're going to stay together. Whoa. Me and her have been together since day one, and we're going to stay together. Yeah. I'm so excited. We're going to be on tour. American Idol, get $1,000 a night. That's right. It's winter time. It's winter time. I ain't never been to my junior prom. I didn't even finish calculus. Yeah. But I'm a damn American Idol. That's right. I got an F450. I don't have a driver's license. What the hell am I supposed to do? What do you want from me? Y'all feast. Yeah, y'all feast.
This is going to cause some controversy, but that shooter, Jared Laughlin, the guy that shot, what is it, Laughner? Laughner, yeah. Laughner. Jared Laughner. The guy that shot Gabrielle Gifford in Arizona. There's going to be controversy because of what the judge announced yesterday. If you haven't heard it, strap yourself in. That stuff's hooey. At Boy's Head, we work hard to make our oven gold turkey the best it can be. It's pure turkey breast, slow roasted the old-fashioned way. But there's a downside to such excellence. Boy's Head Oven Gold is a magnet for lunch thieves. You open up the office fridge and find your oven gold turkey sandwich has been stolen, pilfered, pinched. So, what can you do? Well, you could get a cheap turkey sandwich from a sandwich chain, something made from ground-up pots, preservatives, and fillers like seaweed extract. Nobody's going to steal that. Or you could stand by your oven gold turkey and take defensive measures, invest in a padlocked lunchbox, set up a fridge cam, or simply eat your lunch at 10 a.m. before anyone has a chance to steal it. Sure, it's a little extra effort, but a great turkey sandwich needs protecting. And oven gold is the best there is. Boar's Head, compromise elsewhere. Well, he was in trial yesterday and the judge ruled him mentally incompetent to stand trial. Mental health experts concluded he is schizophrenic and he had to be dragged out of the Tucson courtroom by federal marshals. And he was screaming stuff like, thank you for the freak show. She died in front of me. Like just saying, yelling all this in front of people. Yeah, the judge ordered him, he's 22 years old, to federal facility for up to four months where doctors are going to be treating him and try to figure out what's up with him until they're able to understand the case against him. Wow. He pleaded not guilty, clearly. Yeah, well worth it. Just keep a crazy guy. Jay says take him out back and put him down. I'll do it. Jay will do it. I'll do it myself. I've done it. Yeah, I mean. I ain't proud of it. Well, actually. I'm a little proud of it. A little bit. How do you think we handled it in Tombstone? Yeah. All right. Hey, there wasn't none of this mental facilities. That's right. Schizophrenia. Yeah. I just took a gun to the back of his hip. I just said we were going hunting. One of us came back. The other one didn't. Oops. Let's see. What else is happening? You should have seen me trying to explain Oprah to Nita yesterday. Who Oprah was.
You know, our Hungarian nanny. Who is this? This is Oprah Winfrey. She's a television star. She's one of the biggest American stars there is. She's very rich. Yes, she's very large. Woods wants to point out that she's big. What is that? You're punching Oprah? Or are you punching me? I don't know. Who are you punching? Oprah. Oprah. Wow, violent. Yeah. All right, sorry. Oh, whoa. My goodness. So much for that abuse against women thing. Really? I'm really going to punch her. Oh. Man. Sheesh. Well, anyway. Moving on. How'd you explain her? Did she take her to the grocery store, point out magazines? Well, after it was on for a little bit, she said, oh, I have seen hers. You know, she had to check it out.
She recognized her. I mean, everybody in the world recognizes Oprah. What if there's a Hungarian version of Oprah? No. You don't know who I am. Hey, so I'm going to read directly from Jay's recap, okay? Oh, gosh. What? At every job I've had before, I was always able to run around them building for at least five to ten minutes per hour. The building. Once again. Y'all. At every job I've ever had before, I was always able to run around them building for at least five to ten minutes per hour. I now sit for four hours straight, Monday through Friday. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. Just trying to find ways to beat the bulge. I've started to do sit-ups and push-ups during commercials. Oh my gosh. Yesterday, Lauren caught me and I acted like I was stretching.
When did trying to stay in shape become something you have to lie about? Oh, I'm speechless. I mean, look. Look, y'all. Yes, I'm doing push-ups, Lauren. All right? Take a picture. It lasts longer. Sorry. Sue me. I'm healthy. I'm so ashamed. Yes. Please don't look at me. I'm hideous, y'all. I'm in shape. Look at me. So in shape. 149. Stop. He is freaking Ron Burgundy in his office doing bicep curls. 1000, 1001. Look at him. Hey, I hate the fact that I got to be embarrassed about it. I don't want to hide it. Can't I just be rock hard? Look, y'all ain't going to hurt my feelings if I'm out here doing push-ups and sit-ups, all right? Oh, wow. Mike, you ain't going to hurt my feelings if you build me a gym out there. I'll put a weight bench in there or something. That's right. Tubby. Tubby. Oh, sorry, Lauren. I was just stretching my leg. I know it looks like I was doing 48 push-ups. You didn't seem to want me to hide it when I was doing lunges out there. Didn't say anything about being secretive. I'll bet you $25 if we went on to MikeyShow.com and clicked blog.
Jay be the exact same thing. Yep. Yep. Let me test your theory out. Every day. Click on blogs. Let me click on Jay's picture. Oh, there it is. What's wrong with that? Nothing. It's a funny bit. Nothing wrong with it. It's a funny, funny bit. I should try that. He was telling all the listeners out there, fine, I work out. It's no big deal. I work out at work. Sorry, ladies. Y'all are at work making phone calls, doing stuff. I'm lifting weights. I'm doing push-ups, squats, lunges, dips. And if I don't have anything, I'll just bench Chris. Chris, get in here. I got to bench you. It ain't called fat out, Mikey. It's called workout. That's right. Hope you guys try it. The only six-pack Woods will ever have is a beer. That's right. Budweiser. Maybe Dr. Pepper. Man.
I mean, if that's the way we're going to measure it, Woods has got a 24-pack. Every morning. You get a keg. Wow! It's like a right cross, Mike. Wow. Your gloves are down, and he just right crosses you across the face. Or the nuts. Definitely you weren't seeing that coming. Right in the nuts! That was beautiful! Hey, L.O.B. had this happen to her yesterday at Trader Joe's. This has happened with me in a car, but it happened to her out of a car. Trader Joe's swarm of bees. Just a huge swarm of bees. Wow. Came rushing at her while she's in the parking lot. I mean, a full swarm. So it was like a horror movie. And she just got still. Right. You tighten up all your muscles. You did. Yeah. I thought you would have run. Well, you're not supposed to. No, that'll get them to sting you. You do that. I saved like a scrunched up statue. Yep. You know, that's happened to me one time. I was at a red light. And luckily, and I had my windows down. And luckily, I heard this thing coming. It looked like a big cloud of smoke. And I heard it. And so I put my windows up and they started going pop, pop, pop onto the window. Lucky. Yeah, man. I mean.
I've never really understood it. I don't know why they do that. I guess they re... Maybe their nest got disturbed, and so they're off to find a new place to settle. Following the queen. Yeah, following the queen. The queen is aggressive. They're all aggressive. It happened to me two weeks ago, and I didn't tell anyone about it. It was in the middle of a baseball game. Really? And I was playing first base, and my right fielder was like... Dude, bees. And I ran in the middle of the game like a girl over to the dugout. Ran. And was like the whole like, oh my God. You were doing that? Yeah. Didn't know. Didn't know stay still. And like kind of a high-pitched bit too. Did you get stung? No. Usually they sting you and you start swatting. That bit. Ooh, it's a lady. Yeah, it was pretty embarrassing. I was the only one that did that. That was good. Well, now you know. Sienna had a dream that her husband Todd came home from work, sat her down, and told her that he'd had a one-night stand with a girl right before their daughter Sage was born. She dreamt this. She is a good friend and a lover. She dreamt this. And in the dream, she was very sad, but she decided that she was going to stay with Todd. Don't tell him. Free pass, Todd. Then she woke up from the dream, and she was very...
angry at Todd. Obviously, this didn't really happen, but not to mention the fact that she would never stay with somebody that cheated on her, including Todd, but girls ever get mad at their guy for no reason? Dream cheat. Dream cheat. I was furious. I still kind of am. It was a dream, and I got it in. Yeah, it's happened to me a bunch of times, too. And you wake up furious. I do not. I wake up, and I realize, you know, I haven't had a dream like that. I haven't had a dream like that in... Many moons. But when I did, I go, oh, it's a dream. I wake up mad. You're mad. Full on mad. Like, dude, don't touch me. You're like, just get away from me. She's like, I didn't do anything. My wife, Jamie. And I'm like, you're a freaking cheater. Like, you cheated on me. Oh, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. She's like, babe, it was a dream. And then I'm fine. I wanted to wake him up and be like, how could you? I just dreamt this. What's wrong with you? Yeah, I've done it. But I didn't. It sucks. You do it too? Uh-huh. Wow. You're mad. Violent. Violent sleeper. Kim full on punched me.
She punched you? Yeah, she's like, and she laughed afterwards, but she was still mad for about an hour. Oh, wow. They're so realistic. It was so real for her. L.O.B., you ever have those? Oh, yeah. I had, like, ongoing ones, so I'd be like, I don't know, maybe I'll go to sleep tonight and you're going to cheat on me again. Oh. It's babe. Yeah. I swear. Dreams are so interesting. What I'm about to talk about is an adult topic. It's adult in nature. If you have a kid that's listening, you might want to turn the radio down for a minute. Giving you a fair warning. It's a dull show. You know how sometimes you dream that you're getting your thing on in a dream? I never get my thing on in the dream. What? Yeah, I always come close but never do. Same. You too? Exact same. How about you, Jay? I get my thing on. You do? I don't even want to know. Yeah, I don't. In my dream, in my dream, for some reason, that never happens. Foreplay is what happens to me and mine. It always happens if it's Kim. Like sometimes I dream about Kim. You're so perfect! I only dream about making love with my wife. The fact that you don't makes you a pig. I like to look. I just don't like to touch. I wake up guilty if it's like anything else is going on. I wake up and I'm like, huh!
Right, which means that you do have stuff that other stuff goes on and you wake up guilty. But you just said it doesn't happen. No, no, I'm saying it never goes all the way. I never hit a home run. The only person I'll ever hit a home run with. It's just in the ballpark. Even in my dreams. It's my wife. It's my wife. I'm almost sliding into third. Holy. Woods just got up. Oh, my God. walked over to a place where he could safely collapse. And then Woods collapsed into a giant beanbag. I mean, I guess Jay can just say anything. Guys, something else, isn't he? But if it's Kim, you know, well, first of all, I dip strawberries in chocolate for her. Then I braid her hair. And in my dream, it just makes sense, you know, that she's got long Rasputin-type hair. And I comb it gently and then I braid it. Then I give her a foot massage and rub, exfoliate her, and then make love. Over and over. Over and over again. Y'all want to know what kind of love we make? For days. How?
Sweet, I'll tell you that. It's always tender. It's passionate and powerful. It's passionate. It's powerful. It's tender. Very tender. Very loving. Very caring. Oh, man. Better than you could ever imagine. Yeah. Well, better than anything you're capable of. And the reason is, you're just a person. I'm me. I can do tender sweetness in a different way. Supple. Supple. And after I'm done, I draw her a hot bath. and make her lunch. Bring it to her as she bathes. Organic. Organic, of course, raised in my own garden. And then I say you're welcome very sweetly. I say you're very welcome. I'll get all the kids off to school. You lay there in the tub and soak. Eat your spaghetti squash. Just eat your spaghetti squash. On me. Yeah, and if you need any more of that fresh squeezed orange juice, just let me know. I'll squeeze them by hand. Grapes, one by one. Oh, I'll squeeze them. Really is something else in me. All right. Well, yeah. Oh, boy. Holy cow. And boom goes the dynamite. Oh, we got to revisit boom goes the dynamite in a little bit. Also, there was a computer screw up that let a lot of California prisoners go free. No way. Computer screw up.
Can you believe that? And then this story is crazy. Ed Schultz is on MSNBC. He does a TV show on MSNBC, but he also does a radio show and was talking about Laura Ingraham, conservative. Ed Schultz is a liberal, liberal Democrat. He was doing a radio show. And he was talking about Laura Ingraham, the conservative. And he was making a point about Obama's trip, his recent trip to England. Here's what he said. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Missouri on Sunday. But you know what they're talking about? Like this right wing slut. What's her name? Laura Ingraham. Yeah, she's a talk slut. You see, she was back in the day praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama is doing it. They're working him over. Well, that's pretty strong language, isn't it? So anyway, he there was a very, very strong reaction to that, as you can imagine. And he has had to make an apology. He is no longer on MSNBC and made what I think is a pretty heartfelt and genuine apology. I mean, I mean it.
And we're going to let you hear it. You just got to wait. Kim Kardashian's engaged. Who's she engaged to? Somebody that we know? It's a New Jersey Nets forward, Chris Humphries. Say what up, black people? They've been dating for six months. Really? Mm-hmm. He popped the question with a $2 million ring at her Beverly Hills home on May 18th. Yeah, sign me up for that. Seriously. How much? $2 million ring. Oh, wow. I thought you said $2 million. $2 million ring. How many carats? 20.5. That's dumb. You think? Yeah, I think that's dumb. Yeah. You think her sister's mad? Chloe? Yeah, like, why don't you do your own bit? Yeah, I married Lamar Odom. He's in the NBA. You've done the NFL. Now you're doing the NBA. What about MLB? Oh, Chloe, stop it. You're just always copying me. My God. I'm copying you. Mom, every time I do something, she does it. Like, is she going to have, you know, we have our own show now. Are they going to have their own? You're copying me. You're copying me. You're copying me. Your ass is so huge. Really? You're a citizen?
Got a Fogo photocopy machine? Let's see. Let's measure. Yeah, I've got a Fogo copy machine, Jay. All right, I messed up, Jay. Fine, Jay. Fine, call out, Kathy. Call out, Calma Kathy. Call out, Chloe. Fine, call out. Chloe, call out. Chloe, call out. So we got the apology that Ed Schultz had to make after making those comments. And we'll do that in a second. Plus an email that you may have something to say about has to do with Pop Warner. And then we're also going to tell you about the computer error that let some violent California prisoners go free. Mother's cookies will always remind me of Grandpa's house. Or better yet, leaving Grandpa's house. When I was little, we had family reunions at his place in Santa Maria. And at night, we'd sit around the living room and my aunts and uncles would retell outrageous old stories.
usually at the same time. That's when Grandpa would give me the signal, and we'd slip out for a drive to get Mother's cookies. We both loved the circus animals for the pink frosting and the way the round sprinkles crunch on your teeth. On the way back, Grandpa would take the long way home, and we'd eat cookies and listen to nothing but big band jazz and the sound of the ocean. I know it's simple, but Grandpa and I both liked simple. And now... At every family reunion, that's the story I like to tell. Over and over again. Mother's cookies. There's a memory in every bite. On FM 94.9. Sienna, what's going on in the news? You guys remember the case, the Elizabeth Smart case, the 14-year-old that was kidnapped, held captive for nine months, was raped nearly every day, had kids with the guy that kidnapped her. Well, they were in court yesterday, and Brian David Mitchell, who's the man in charge of all of that, was sentenced yesterday to life in prison without parole. Wow. Yes. She was there, and she said...
She said one thing to him, and she said, I don't have very much to say to you. I know exactly what you did. I know you know exactly what you did was wrong. You did it with full knowledge, but I have a wonderful life now, and no matter what you do, you will never affect me again. Oh, that's awesome. Her messages, she said. Awesome. Also, I thought you guys may want to know that Mark Kelly, who is the commander of the Space Shuttle Endeavor, he was talking last night and said that, you know, don't worry, he talks to his wife, Gabrielle Giffords, almost every day on the phone. Sweet. Oh, on the phone. Yeah. Maybe FaceTime. I don't know. They talk every night before he goes to sleep. They talk. He talks. They talk. He said she sounds good and is very upbeat. Yeah, you guys. No, that's not fair. She, I'm sure, is saying more things now. Cat. No. I'm sure she's communicating. They communicate with each other. She's doing great. She's doing great. Happy birthday. Woods, what's going on in sports? Well, sports is brought to us today by Frank's Red Hot. Frank's Red Hot. Yeah. Well, it finally happened. The Padres got a win at home last night. Thank you, Lord. Matt Latos came out and pitched like he did last year. He was dominant, man. Pitched eight innings. Got the win. They beat the Cardinals 3-1.
It ended a pretty gnarly homestand for them. They finished 2-6 over the homestand, but it was good to not get swept. That's always a good feeling. And also, the Dallas Mavericks are in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2006. Dirk Nowitzki was just incredible. I watched this whole game. Oh, wow. Excitingly enough. You did? I never watch hoops, but I watched it last night. My dad is like that. He watches during the playoffs. Yeah, I had a bunch of friends at the game, and it was really cool to see. They won 196, and they'll be taking on either the Heat or the Bulls. There you go. There you go. I'm Mikey. That's Woodsy. That's L-O-B. That's Sienna. That's Jay. And our phone screener is Chris. It's Chris. It's Chris. It's Chris. Craig Shoemaker will be in the studio at 8 o'clock, and it's nice to have you here. Our phone number is 570-1949. Guy that wears boots won American Idol last night. Scotty McCleary. Scotty McCleary. Got myself a bottle of McCleary. McCleary's whiskey. It's McCleary's whiskey. And then Oprah signed off the air for the last time yesterday. Did she? Woods doesn't think so, but we'll find out. We will find out.
Woods will owe me $25 if she doesn't have a brand new show that she stars in by the end of the year. So when does that bet end? December 31st? Yes. All right. So how did a computer error... Sienna, let a bunch of violent prisoners go in California. Well, do you guys remember a couple days ago I told you about how the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that California's prisons are way too overcrowded and that state officials need to find a way to reduce the inmate population by about 33,000 within the next two years? Yeah. Well, in Sacramento, there were some computer errors because they lacked key information in the computer system, things like the inmates' disciplinary history, which... means they released some people that were, quote, high risk of violence. And you want to know how many people they released? 450. More than a thousand additional prisoners were also released, but they were on high risk of committing drug crimes and property crimes. What do they do now? They gather them up? There's a program that was started January of 2010, and it's called the Non-Revocable Parole.
program, which means that the participants are not required to report to parole officers and they can only be sent back to prison if they've committed another crime. Oh, my gosh. Yes. That's not good. Yeah, so no attempt has been made to return any of the offenders. Oh, boy. The real good news. Yeah. Right? M1 Dawn from Escondido. What was the word of the day? That's right. Awesome. You just won yourself a pair of tickets to see L.A. Rising, Rage Against the Machine. Yeah, smooth. And rise against. That's awesome. Thanks so much. Yeah, you got it. Hang on the line. Okay, so this email says, Hey, Mikey Show, I know Woods has been coaching Little League this year, so I wanted to get your take on this. I've been coaching my son's Pop Warner team and having several disagreements with my assistant coach about the way that I speak to the players. He thinks I'm too rough on them. I say treat them like men, and they'll act like men. Look. If they're going to be taking hits, they need to be tough. That's M1 Thin Man. I would agree that you treat them like men and they'll act like men if, in fact, they are men. But they're not. They're not men. They're little kids. Boys. So you would treat them like boys. Children. Yeah, you treat them like kids. Woodsy? Very close to my heart issue.
because I coach Little League baseball, which is different than football. But I've had a rough year, man. We haven't won a lot of games, and I'm kind of finding my footing as a coach. I don't have any kids, so I don't yell. I'm not a yeller. I'm not a get-in-their-face type of guy. And I don't really agree with that way of coaching. The kids I coach are 12 and 11. I don't do that. I try to just talk to them. There are other coaches in the league that do not subscribe to my philosophy. They subscribe to Thin Man's philosophy, and that's get in their face and scream at them a lot of the time. And I don't agree with it, man. I think it sucks. Living Nation, 570-1949. I want to hear from M1 Nation. When you call in, turn your radio down. Get to the point. Don't cuss. Know the rules. That's the deal. Do you think that when these kids are little, that's when they need to learn to have thick skin? And that coaches in Pop Warner should be up in their grill? Or do you think that they're little kids and they should be treated softer? Because they're little kids. If I saw a dude, see, here's the thing. I don't yell at my kids. I will speak real firmly with my kids, but I don't yell at them. And so if I saw somebody else yelling at my kid, I'd be pretty mad.
Yeah, dude, I've got kids and I've seen kids around my league that are so tightly wound from from, you know, whatever it is. But they're just so they're so nervous about making a mistake that, you know, that's why I've got kids that will pop out and cry. They'll hit a pop fly to the infield. They'll run back to the dugout and they'll be crying. Exactly. And, you know, that can't be. You cannot have that, you know. At the end of the day, it's supposed to be fun. Crying in baseball? Well, here's the thing. How many times have I said that? It's a great teaching, you know. It's a great teaching thing. That's when you get to teach them. But I don't think that you yell at them. You definitely can send them on, you know, take a lap. I mean, I tell them all the time, hey, why don't you take a lap? If they cry? No, if they're not listening and they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing, I was like, hey, you're out. Go take a lap. That's good. I bench them now. I just bench them. I say, if you cry, you're done. Because you're not only letting down yourself, but you're letting your teammates down if you get benched because you're crying because you made an error. You're done. You're benched. Well, see, I mean, to each their own. But they're getting in trouble for crying. Yeah, they are. Now, listen, they take a fastball to the back and they cry. Okay. But you make an error and you cry. That's unacceptable. It's unacceptable. How come?
Because you don't do that. It's not that big a deal. You can't get upset about it. You're letting what? This is where I think we split. Why? You let them cry after they fail every time? The reason I think we split here is because I think it's a bizarre message. In other words, I'm a little kid, right? Right. I'm a little kid. I have these feelings that are bringing me to crying. OK, and basically what you're telling me is that, A, that's wrong and B, I don't have to know why. All I have to know is that it's wrong. And the answer is I just can't do that, which is so confusing because now you're, you know, kids got if you have feelings, you have feelings. Bro, if I let them let all their feelings out every time, I wouldn't have one player in the field. And when I say that, I'm not being flip.
Yeah, no, no. I know what you mean. I've got 12 kids on my team. Nine of them have had full-on breakdown balling fits. Yeah. And because no other reason than they popped out, they made an error, or they threw a wild pitch or something. And you cannot, as a coach, have that. You can't let the other kids see that. You cannot let that go down on the field. What happens if the other kids see it? Well, it just doesn't set a good precedent. It takes everybody out of their game. And by the way, Woods, I'm not saying I disagree with you. Right. But what I'm asking is that what happens if the other kids see it? I mean, I don't know. There's just something when you're out there with those kids and the dynamic on the field is, hey, we're here to play and have fun. And then somebody is crying and not only crying, weeping hysterically because they dropped the ball. I compare it to somebody like throwing a bat. See, I would love it. I wish somebody would throw a bat. And I say that with all seriousness. I really do. And now Woods is saying that, and Jay is saying that, because when Woods plays in his baseball league, if he strikes out or whatever, he'll throw a bat in anger. Right. I'm an adult. But no, it's the same thing. It's not the same thing. I'm an adult. It's the same thing. It's a kid's version of throwing a bat. Yeah, but I'm an adult. But yeah, but you shouldn't be doing it either. I like fire. I don't like Sally's.
What's their version of fire? That's not fire. Crying because you made an error is not fire. Well, I think that to a kid, you know, they just don't know what to do with it. It's emotions. They don't know what to do with it. You know, they don't know what to do with it. Now, I kind of, I think I agree with you. Teach them don't, you know. But what I, if it were me, I would say, you know, and I guess not during the game because you can't during the game. But afterwards I would say, hey, what? What was upsetting you there? Oh, yeah. I do it all the time. They say, well, this, this, this, this. It was, I struck out. Okay, so what happened when you struck out? What happened? I was mad. Right. I was upset. Okay. And what'd you do? I cried. Okay. Well, let's talk about that. Let's talk about maybe something else you could do instead of crying. There's just no room. And see, I would need to know. This is what I need to know. I need to know why you can't cry, why they're not allowed to cry. They're allowed to cry if they get hurt. And that's it. There's no crying on the field, man. There's just not. Listen, I'm fine with any of this stuff. I just need a reason. Like, for instance, okay, I'll give you this. When Wood strikes out, he throws his bat in anger. Not every time. Hang on. Not every time. Okay, sometimes. Sometimes. I have done it. Right. Yeah. F-words fly and the bat. There goes the bat, right? Helmet.
And sometimes the helmet comes off. It's usually the helmet. The helmet into the fence. Into the fence. Sometimes the bat. It's like, yep, I get it. That's it. Now, here's my, my deal is, I'm not saying that's right. I'm not saying that's wrong. But if somebody's going to tell me that it's right, I just want to know why. If somebody's going to tell me that it's wrong, I just want to know why. You're saying kids can't cry when they're playing baseball. Okay, fine. How come? There's no room for it. Okay, what does that mean? Don't know what that means. There's no room for... I'm not saying you've got to go out there and be perfect, but if something happens, it's only going to take you out of your game more. If you're in the outfield going... There. Now you're getting... It's going to make it harder to get the next one. Now we're getting... I like it. Woodsy, you're talking me into it. I like it. M1 Austin Guzon from San Diego. Are you there? Yeah, I'm here. What do you think? Well, you know, I'm on the Rancho Bonavista High School varsity baseball team. We just got done with our season. And I know I've been playing baseball since I was, like, 78 years old. And I understand, like, now as I'm graduating high school, how big the fundamental of no crying in baseball was when I learned it. Because ultimately, like, when you live a baseball lifestyle, there's just certain things and, like, certain rules in that game that you just respect, that you just learn.
That's part of the game. If you don't want to abide by them or you're confused by them, you just don't play. That's the bottom line. Yeah, I think that in and of itself. If the message here is there's just some rules in baseball and you just abide by them, I agree. I'm fine with that. What I disagree with is the nonsense of, and you don't get an explanation. Right. There should be an explanation. If there's not an explanation, I believe it's freaking nonsense, and I believe that you should teach the kids that if you aren't going to cry, because they've got the feelings that make them want to cry, you take those feelings and you turn it into something else. Well, does this do anything for you? In the game of baseball, as a hitter, you fail 7 out of 10 times. If you fail 7 out of 10 times, you're a Hall of Famer. Sweet. Okay? If you fail, you can fail 7 out of 10 times, you're a Hall of Famer. You're a 300 hitter. Right. All right? Failure is part of the game. And you can fail seven times and be the best. Right. You have to learn how to fail. You cannot get upset after every strikeout. I like all this. Yeah, think about this. Think about if you're a boxer and you start to cry. All of a sudden, the other boxer is like, hey, I got this guy. You've let them into your head and you let them see the weakness. You let the game get the better of you. And my big line is, dude, don't worry about it. Get the next one.
Just get the next one. Question. Yeah. LLB, you were an athlete in high school. You ran track. Yes. Did you do any other sports besides track? Before that, I was into a lot more sports. You know, I played soccer. I played field hockey, stuff like that. Was it different for chicks? I had a lot of different coaches, and I feel like the ones I responded best to, and I don't know if that's just me as a personality, were the ones that were on my level. that I felt like I could talk to, and they reasoned with me a little more. The ones that were really aggressive and just kind of barked orders, I didn't respond well. I don't think as a team we did well. Well, did they get upset at you when you got upset? They would. And even my dad would be at a lot of the games like, come on, come on, get out of your headspace. There wasn't a lot of room for crying, even as a girl. Yeah, see, I'm not against that. I don't have any problem with, you know, because it's a waste of time. It's a waste of time, and it's certainly going to get you out of your element. But I also am a big-time believer in whenever you tell a kid something, you have to back it up with why. Sure. Because I think it's just poor wisdom to ever tell a kid no and not tell them why. Right. Well, I mean, what I told my kids, why not to cry?
is because, A, it takes you out of your game. B, you know there's a consequence for it. And if you subject yourself to that consequence, it's going to hurt the team. I'm trying to teach them that the team is bigger than them and how they did. And it's very selfish for a player to strike out and cry. It is. It's selfish. M1 Bill is calling in from Oceanside. Are you there, Bill? Got it. Yeah, I just want to say I disagree with Jay's comment about you make a mistake and you make the kid run. A good coach coaches a game just like he does practice. If a kid makes a mistake during the game, you don't go, hey, stop, timeout, take a lap. He wasn't saying mistake. He was saying bad attitude. Like, if you have a bad attitude, you're not listening. Yeah, it does. Well, he's saying. You got to coach a game like you coach a practice. You don't make kids do push-ups for any reason. In other words, Bill's saying if they have a bad attitude during the game, you're not going to say take a lap. So he's saying you would do the same thing that you would do during game time. So you got Junior. He's standing there. He is distracting three other kids. He's just sitting there and he will not listen. Practice? Yeah, this is at practice. And this I've done a hundred times. He just won't listen. He's just, you know, out of his mind. Talking back. Talking back, doing all this stuff. I'm like, hey, dude, I don't have time. I mean, for all I care, I'll put him on the sidelines until he's ready to get into the game. And I've coached for years. And taking a lap, you know, they'll go out there and they'll think about it for a minute, maybe get a little of that energy out that they couldn't.
I don't stand still. That's a great motivator. I see what you're saying, but at the same time, one kid can distract an entire team. I think I agree with Jay on that one. Yeah, me too. M1 Mean Gene from Georgia. Yeah. What's up, guys? How y'all doing? Good. Yeah, I mean, Steve kind of hit on it a little bit earlier. It's really about teaching the kids how to deal with failure. We're adults. We've had failures in our life, some of us more than others. Kids, they don't know how to handle it. I mean, I'm like, you know, Mikey was saying, you know, treat grown men like grown men. You know, I'm a grown man. I don't tolerate anybody yelling at me, boss, or otherwise. But I don't know why that really fits to yelling at children. I think that's got more to do with the coach having insecurity more than anything else. But, I mean, it's about helping them learn to deal with failure and how you come back from that. That's not true champions. Like Woods was saying, seven out of ten times you miss, you're going to the Hall of Fame, buddy. Yep, sure.
But you have to be able to shake that 7 out of 10 times off to comfort the 3 out of 10 that you're going to be big at. Exactly. Exactly. That's exactly it. I agree with you. Thank you, Mean Gene. This is M1 Harold from San Marcos. What's up, Harold? Yeah, you know, I agree with Woods. You know, explain to them. You've got to, during the game, sit them on the bench, whatever. After the game, Mikey, I agree with you. Get down to their level, explain to them why you did what you did, and the whole scoop. They need to understand exactly why. But the reason I'm calling is with throwing the hat and the baseball bat is no different than that little kid walking off the field crying. Yeah, it is. No, it's not. It's passion. That's not passion, what they're doing. I'm passionate, and I'm... I want to win. I think it's frustration. It's frustration, but it's a lot of passion, too. And I don't do it every time. I mean, there are times when they get me. If a guy throws a curveball on 3-2 and I look at it and it's a strike, I'll just walk back to the bench. You got me. But if I have a chance to knock in runs and I don't come through, yeah, I might sling my helmet to the fence because I'm frustrated and I'm passionate about winning. I don't see the fire in a lot of my kids to win or to really even compete sometimes. Well, isn't it a...
When a kid cries, is that not an example of him not being able to get a handle of his emotions? Yeah, he's frustrated. I get it. Believe me. And it's gotten progressively worse as the season has gone by. For you or for the child? For the child. A lot of them, yeah. They cry more now than they did at the beginning. I've been playing baseball for 25 years. I was a terrible baseball player when I was a little kid. Terrible. I went a whole season. I didn't get one hit. Never cried. Never once. Do you think it's a good idea to throw the helmet? Yeah. You do? Yeah. Because it's passion. Yeah. I'm also 35 years old. I can do whatever I want. I know. But if A-Rod threw his helmet, wouldn't you think he was? No. They do it all the time. Those are professionals making millions of dollars a year. Doesn't bother me. I love to see one of my players. What I don't like to see is in a close game, my player on one of my favorite teams striking out and then see him on the bench five minutes later laughing, which I've seen. I want them to care. I don't want that either. Don't you like Phil Rivers on the sideline screaming and getting people fired up? Doesn't that get you fired up? Absolutely. But you know what I don't like? I don't like when a player takes his helmet off and throws it like a baby. I don't like it. Sometimes it is. A football player?
What if a football player took his helmet off and threw it like a baby? Oh, I've seen it. It doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother you. I'm a fiery guy. Yeah. Kid's been known to flip a table or two. Oh, wow. But I'm trying to teach these kids not to do that. Do as I say, not as I do. I'm kind of like a parent. Oh, wow. We talked about this the other day, and I said, listen, just wait until it comes to San Diego. It's close. They're banning the circumcision of boys in Santa Monica. They did it. They're trying to do it in San Francisco, putting it on the ballot. And wait till we tell you where it's coming from, San Diego. Mikey Show coming up in minutes. Oh, stop it. This is Sir Shedd with the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report for a Thursday morning, brought to you by Joe Roper's Surf Report Repair. Today under overcast skies, at least for the time being, we've got some smaller surf again as those swell combinations out of the west-northwest and southwest continue to taper off. Along with smaller waves, we do have a bit of a soft wind blowing, so currently kind of broken up surf to be had at both spots, running in that knee to waist high zone, maybe a few chest high waves to stand out open areas to the swell combination. As the tide starts to drop out even lower, we expect some spots to even get smaller, so it's going to be kind of a tough morning to find anything really decent. That being said, a couple of the areas are more protected from that southerly wind, looking pretty clean, fun and rideable on the long border, an egg fish type of a vehicle.
Other than that, I don't know, might have to wait for the afternoon sunshine to make it a little bit more doable. on his radio show talking about Laura Ingraham got himself in some trouble. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Missouri on Sunday. But you know what they're talking about? Like this right-wing slut. What's her name? Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she's a talk slut. You see, she was back in the day praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama's doing it, they're working him over. Wow. You guys have any thoughts on what the difference between a slut and a talk slut is? Well, Bree brings up a good point. It's a fabulous point. That's right. Well, Ed got in a little trouble and had to apologize. Good evening, Americans, and welcome to The Ed Show from New York tonight. Thomas Roberts will be here tonight anchoring the program, but first I want to take some time to offer an apology.
On my radio show yesterday, I used vile and inappropriate language when talking about talk show host Laura Ingram. I am deeply sorry, and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness. It doesn't matter what the circumstances were. It doesn't matter that it was on radio and I was ad-libbing. None of that matters. None of that matters. What matters is what I said was terribly vile and not of the standards that I or any other person should adhere to. I want all of you to know tonight that I did call Laura Ingraham today and did not make contact with her, and I will apologize to her as I did in the message that I left her today. I also met with management here at MSNBC. And understanding the severity of the situation and what I said on the radio and how it reflected terribly on this company, I have offered to take myself off the air for an indefinite period of time with no pay. I want to apologize to Laura Ingram. I want to apologize to my family, my wife. I have embarrassed my family. I have embarrassed this company. And I have...
Been in this business since 1978, and I've made a lot of mistakes. This is the lowest of low for me. I stand before you tonight in front of this camera in this studio in an environment that I absolutely love. I love working here. I love communicating with all of you on the radio and the communication that I have with you when I go out and do town hall meetings and meet the people that actually watch. I stand before you tonight to take full responsibility for what I said and how I said it. And I am deeply sorry. That's good enough for me. Sold. Yeah. In fact, if you want to do some sort of a clinic on how to apologize, that seems like the way to do it. It's probably your keynote speaker. Absolutely. I mean, guy took responsibility. He's accountable. And he said he was sorry. You know. We all say stuff that we regret. And we all have a little rascally turd part of us that wants to say some rascally turd stuff. So sometimes we do. And I know that we want people to give us a break. So, you know, cut the guy some slack, right? 100. So, Sienna, tell me about this group and where they're located.
and what they want to do in Santa Monica? Okay, there's a campaign in Santa Monica right now to ban circumcision on boys under the age of 18. Now, this group is MGM. Well... The group, the bill that they want is MGM bill, which stands for male genital mutilation. They want this to be on the November ballot in Santa Monica. The founder, Matthew Hess, is from San Diego. This group is based in San Diego. By the way, if there's anybody listening from MGM that represents this group, please call. Please call. If I haven't said it before. Please call. Yes.
5701949, I would love to discuss this with you. Yes, the bill founder, Matthew Hess, was telling LA Times that California law prohibits female genital mutilation, and he thinks that boys should get the same protection, basically saying circumcision removes nerve endings, and it's painful and unnecessary for babies, especially, that have not signed up for this. Adults wouldn't want to go under the knife and do that kind of procedure. Why should babies? If somebody was telling me that I could not have done that to Lukey and Ry-Ry and Jake, and that these guys were going to walk around with a trunk, I would have been very upset. I had a whole different vision in my head, like a full-on big wooden trunk. No! Listen. We remember those dudes in the shower. They were fine. No, they weren't. They were embarrassing. It was embarrassing. Oh, please. For them. They were embarrassed. They weren't. Cornelius Haynes was not. I don't know about that. You weren't in there. I know you don't know about it. But I know. Cornelius Haynes would walk in. He wanted your money. You remember his name. Oh, he'd put his leg up like this and he'd go, give me your money. Yeah, Cornelius Haynes.
Didn't have to be uncircumcised to scare the heck out of you. It was an elephant trunk. I knew uncircumcised guys that didn't seem to have a problem with it. Well, they didn't know any different. But most guys here in the U.S., they've been circumcised. These are Americans. I know. I'm saying most guys here in the U.S. have been circumcised. And so, you know, you put these poor guys in there in the locker room. And they're walking around, you know. I think everybody in the locker room is nervous when you're a kid. Except me. I wasn't. I never was. Didn't need to be. Why the hell would I be nervous? It's a religious requirement, you know, for Jewish people that they have this procedure done. So it's a violation of the First Amendment if you take it away from them. That's also what the other side is saying. Fair enough. Yeah, the right to foreskin.
Well, freedom. Freedom of foreskin. I'm anti-foreskin, I guess. I was taken off the radio in high school for saying that word. Really? Mm-hmm. We've really evolved. Yep. Mr. Jones walked in playing a 45. I remember what I was playing. What was it? I was playing a top 40 song by the guy that was the Tommy Shaw. Sticks. Yeah, the guy from Styx. He had a Top 40 song and the word girls was in the title. I was playing that record and he walked in and he said, when that record's over, you're done. And I said, why? He said, because you said foreskin. You're not saying that on the air again. And I convinced him to let me go back on the air. And I said it again. You monster. I know. So like in my head. That made sense. Well, Mr. Jones, this one's for you, foreskin. I want to use it, Woods. Okay, foreskin, Mr. Jones. Wait a minute. M1 Jake's teacher's on the line. It's my son's teacher. Hi, how are you? I'm fine. Good. How are you doing? Good. I just wanted to let you know, I obviously deal with a lot of boys, young boys about three years old, and it's about 50 chance that they'll be circumcised at this point.
Really? It's actually going in the other direction. It used to be, when I first started 11 years ago, they were pretty much all circumcised, and now it's going in the other direction. Why? Because it's unnecessary. Well, there's definitely a lot of reasons. I mean, it's unnecessary. It's not, it's... Okay, you know, even if it is unnecessary, let's just do it, okay? Well, no, give me the right. Give me the right to make that call. I would say, yeah, and you do have the right. Now I do. You have the right now. Sounds like about six months I may not. You know, what if I'm 17 and people are making fun of me in school and I'm like, thanks a lot, mom. Now I got to go get it done. It's really going to hurt. What I'm trying to tell you, Mike, is that that's not going to happen because it's going in the opposite direction. People are not doing it anymore. They're going to go, what's wrong with you? That's fine. That's fine.
If people decide that they're not going to circumcise their kid, that's fine. They can do that. But don't take away my right to circumcise my boy. Absolutely. Yeah, we're going to look back on this and we're going to go, what were we thinking? Are we? Absolutely we are. No, we're not. Please. Thank you, Jake's teacher. This is so ridiculous. I can't even believe it. M1 Forskin's online. Of course he is. So go ahead. Okay, it sounds like your only argument is that it's cosmetic. You don't want your kid to be different than everyone else. But if everyone else has a foreskin, then what does it matter? It's their penis. You want someone to cut your penis now? No, not now, because I'll remember it tomorrow. Any attention is good. What? Any attention is good, he said. I'm the same school I thought as you. My kid, my son, is two now, and my husband had to convince me. Yeah, you know what I think is great? You know what I think is great? All these women that have opinions about a boy's foreskin. It's always a human thing. It's always a woman that's got these strong opinions about themselves. My wiener! As much as you love your kid, and we care how they feel and cosmetically how they look, and we care if someone makes fun of them.
I was at the same school as you. I didn't want my son to be made fun of when he was in the locker room. But hey, if everyone has a foreskin, then what does it matter to you? Everybody doesn't. But everyone will. Everyone will. Oh, great. So what? You're leading the foreskin charge? You're queen of foreskin? Yeah, you're queen foreskin. You're going to start this movement. Come on, we've got to start somewhere. Someone's going to do it. Oh boy, with that. It's always a woman. Who would I rather hear from? A woman on how it looks or a man on how it looks? I want to hear from a woman. I think that most women are just fine with circumcision. I don't think that there's, listen, I haven't heard any women that are just like, you know, I just can't stand this uncircumcised look. It makes me crazy. I mean, it just is unbearable. Yeah, I really like the sheath look is my favorite look. Forget it, dude. I want that chance to, I'm going to cut my fake kid like I got cut when I was a little guy. Tradition. And I am happy and pleased with my wiener. Please don't.
Isolate. Isolate! No, do not isolate. Very pleased. Sounds like the guy from San Diego is a man that's leading the charge. Yep. He's going to throw that out there. I'm not as pleased as Woods is, but I'm fine with what I... You know. I would love to have a turtleneck. Oh, my. A dickie. Yeah. Like a scarf. What the hell's going on in here? A dickie is not a real turtleneck. It's the thing that goes underneath the sweater, but it stops right here. How apropos. There are cleanliness issues, I've heard. Oh, wait, Woods. Yes, you're right. There are cleanliness issues. Let's... talk to a woman from El Cajon who can tell us all about it. Go ahead, Leah. Hi. It's actually not a cosmetic issue. Hey, when you're done, can I tell you all about your ovaries, by the way? Sure, go ahead. Okay, go ahead. But the other thing is, what about religious purposes? Because, for instance, Jews, it's a religious thing for Jewish men to get circumcised. So what about that? Great. I don't want to take away their right to be able to do what they want. Exactly.
Right, so she's anti-forskin like us. You're an anti-forskinner like we are. Yeah. Yes, okay, good. Okay, good. Thank you, Leah. Team no-forskin. M1 no-forskin is on the line from Chula Vista. Hi. Good morning. What would you like to say? I was not circumcised as a child. And when I was 26 years old, I decided to have it done on my own. I'm in the Navy and decided to have my circumcision at the age of 26. Why? Just a cleanliness issue. And, you know, my wife was gone for a while, so it seemed like the thing to do at the time. It's a cleanliness issue. That's enough said. Listen, enough said. Do you miss it? No, I don't miss it. It was very painful. Really, you don't write letters to it telling it how much you miss it? Dear Forskin. Dear Forskin, I miss you so. How I miss thee. Definitely not. It's a cleanliness issue. Thank you for calling. This man at the age of 26 years old decided he wanted to do the snipperoo. To take it. I don't want it. I don't want it. Get it out of here. There you go. Then that's when they should be able to make the decision. Yeah, when it hurts. When it hurts real bad. He didn't say it hurt.
Yeah, he did. He said it hurt. He said it was very painful. Please, yes. He said it was painful to have it done. Yeah, that hurts. Okay. But the baby didn't feel it either then. Okay, so. No, they felt it. They just don't remember it. They don't remember it. If you don't remember it, does it make it any better? Yes. Yes. No. A hundred billion times. Absolutely. Makes it way better. Makes it better. I don't remember falling and hitting my head when I was a little kid. I'm sure I did. You did, clearly. I'm sure I did. But I don't remember it, so I'm not affected by it. Yes, you are. No, I'm not. Maybe I am. Jay, how upsetting was your circumcision? What do you remember about it? Don't remember much. No, come on. There are scars. That's why I like to use it so much. Hey, you did both of your boys. You cut them both. I did. And it was so painful. Like I said before, you did it twice. I would never do it again. We almost didn't do it the second time. Let me tell you how to do this, okay? I'm going to tell all fathers how to do this. There's a way to do this. And I'll pass on my wisdom. What you do is you take the child to the doctor and then you go to Henry's like I did. Takes about 20 minutes. You shop over at Henry's. That's your answer to everything. McDonald's maybe. He got me with that. How were your boys that night? They're fine, Woods. They're fine on the ride home. Mike, of course they were. Of course they were. And you know what?
They don't have a sheath anymore. They are good to go. They're clean. They're streamlined. It's gorgeous. Why weren't you guys born that way then? It's gorgeous. I don't know why. You weren't born with earrings. You got them. Yeah, but I don't need them. Aren't we God's perfect vessel? Oh, boy, with that bit. I mean, why? Hey, God told his people to circumcise themselves. Oh, wow. Jay just looked at me like, okay. How do you know, Mike? Well, what do you know? God told them that they had a circumcision. That's why the Jews do it. You know, but. What book of the Bible is that in? Exodus. Ruth. Oh, Jay. I'm going to look it up. Hey, Tubby. Don't think I'm just going. Hey, I knew, you know, Ruth from the Bible. I knew her. I'll ask her. I'll ask Ruth. I remember her. She's a sweet girl. Sweet gal. Abraham. Mary Magdalene. Nice guy. Nice guy. Nice guy. Not so much. You know, I didn't care for Isaac. He had a hair lip. I didn't really like Cain or Abel either. Eve, she was. Something else. Something else. Naked. Naked all the time. As a jaybird. Naked as a jaybird. Naked as a me bird. Showed Adam a thing or two. About a thing or two. Mike, I googled benefits of circumcision. Of course you did. Of course you did. You want to know? Of course. Decrease in physical problems involving a tight foreskin.
Reduced urinary tract infections. Ah. Fewer problems with erections, especially at puberty. Decrease in certain sexually transmitted infections, such as HIV, etc. Wow. Almost complete elimination of invasive penile cancer. Decrease in urological problems generally. These are all good things. Yeah. Lower inflammation of the head. Said area. Yes. Those are just a feel. I Googled as well. I don't want to know. Yeah, let's not. Feels real good. There's a reason it's done. Yeah. Able to pick up peanuts off the floor. Listen, there's nothing wrong with it. And this whole movement is so 2011. You're so 2000 and late. I don't want them telling me I can't cut my boys. Don't tell me. My fake one, because I will cut him, his fake foreskin off his fake penis. Don't say that. I'm going to. With a fake knife. Oh, somebody, M1 No Name wants to hit me. Oh, boy. M1 No Name from OB, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. I don't really want to hit you. I'm just upset. Why are you mad? Well, because you keep talking about your right to do this to your boy, and it's your right, and it's your right. But what about the baby's right? Oh, boy. They're babies. They don't have rights. They have rights? No, they don't.
Oh, my God. Let me ask you a question. Can they make cognitive decisions? Let me ask you a question. M1 no-name. Oh, my gosh. You can punch a baby in the face and it's not going to remember it, but it doesn't make it right. M1 no-name. Yeah, but that doesn't serve a purpose. There's no purpose to that. No, in fact, it's violent. You're not taking away penile cancer by punching him in the face. Well, let's tattoo babies in. Let me float this alternative to you. What if you wait until the boy is cognizant, say five or six, and if he's like, I don't like my penis, then you can explain to him that, hey, you can have it done, and then... You know, they anesthetize them at that age. They don't do it when they're babies. M1 No Name? Yes. Are you pro-choice? Of course. Oh, you're pro-choice. Yeah. But why don't you give the baby a chance to talk about whether he wants to live or not? Because it's a mass of cells in my body. There you go. It is. It's a mass of skin on the end of a penis. But no, it's the baby's skin. And that cells, too. Two different things. Right. Hey, I'm not talking about religious. Who's talking religious? You didn't do it for religious purposes, did you, Mike? Yeah, I didn't circumcise for religious purposes. A lot of people circumcise for religious purposes. I didn't. Right, and I wouldn't either. And I'm not talking about religion when I'm talking about pro-choice. I'm not bringing religion into it. I'm just asking you. You say on one hand... Wait a minute. You say on one hand...
You should be able to ask a kid. The kid should have a choice whether or not he wants his foreskin. Now, whether he wants his life is none of his business. That's yours. Yeah. That's your choice. It's in my body. It's on his. It's on. What? What do you mean? Our son's body. It's on his body. You should ask him. If it's on. I don't think that you should pierce a baby's ears, by the way. Okay. Well, why? Why is it okay to. You were supposed to ask a kid if he wants to keep the foreskin, but we don't ask the kid if he wants to live. Because you can't ask him. By the time he's five, he knows what life is. He's able to like, you know. Is it only by, okay, so how old? How old? How old? Five he knows? Four he doesn't? Whatever he looks at his penis and he decides he's not happy with it, then that becomes his choice, what he wants to do with it or not. It's not your choice to cut him up or mutilate him. Well, why is it your choice to kill him then? Because he's in my body. If it's a mess of cells at three weeks, I can decide whether or not I want to terminate the pregnancy or not. Hey, listen. I think you're making your own point. Well, the good thing is that you have that choice to make. And that's all that we're saying is it would be nice to have that choice. You can't take that choice away from us as parents. Sure. I agree. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. I don't like being told what to do. Yeah, if I want to circumcise the kid, I can. Just like she says, hey, if I want to terminate, I can.
It's a fitting song. And by the way, we got to use the word terminate. You know, we got to use these. Can't say what it is. Kill. Can't say that. You say that, people get all spooked. Sienna, what's going on in news? Well, an update on the Casey Anthony trial. She's a 25-year-old mother from Florida who's accused of killing her two-year-old daughter. They're entering the third day in trial today, and yesterday her former boyfriend gave his testimony, and his roommates at the time that spent a lot of time with Casey Anthony during that month her daughter was missing, they said that she acted completely normal, never brought it up. She said she acted the same way every day, happy, happy to see me having a grand old time. Now, you've got to understand, that's the defense's story, though, that she's the type that doesn't talk about what her problems are. That's the defense. It's consistent with what the defense is saying, even though it's nuts. But how do you not say it to your boyfriend that your child is missing? No, I know. No, I know. On to the former International Monetary Fund head, Dominique Strauss-Kahn. He was staying in an apartment for a while where he is under 24-hour surveillance by security. Well, he just moved yesterday from the apartment to a posh townhouse. $50,000 a month rent. It has a home theater in it, gym, terrace, waterfall, showers, fireplace, the works. He has to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet and is still under 24-hour. Armed guard, always outside. He can't leave the country. Wow.
Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, the Lakers are very close to a deal with their next head coach. It will be Mike Brown, who used to coach the Cleveland Cavaliers, coach LeBron, and seems to be a pretty good coach. Some people are very surprised in L.A. that this is going to be the guy that they settled on. But the deal is reportedly worth between $4 million and $5 million a year to coach. That's pretty rad. This is a crazy story about our boy Chad Ochocinco. As you guys know. He's kind of a stunt. He does stunt bits now. He just rode a bull for one and a half seconds in the offseason. Now, guess what his latest plan is going to be? Wants to be a snake wrangler. Oh, wow. I said a snake wrangler. Yeah. Have you ever heard of, I think it's a show called Snake Jungle? He goes on Twitter and says, I've partnered with Snake Jungle to go out and become the first black snake wrangler. You wouldn't be the first black. You get it. You get it? I'm kind of a black snake wrangler. Yeah, exactly. He said he wants to catch a black mamba, a king cobra, a death adder, an eastern brown snake. And he says, yeah, I'm going to do this. Oh, wow. He's saying this on Twitter. Maybe he's bored. Obviously. He's bored. Or insane. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Craig Shoemaker is in the studio with us. It's amazing to me how much money these guys make playing football. And they hold out for millions of dollars. I know.
What if you were like the owner of the team going, but you just herded snakes for 50 bucks? Exactly. It's true. You're holding out, but it's a lot less dangerous. Yes, true. Craig, you're doing a show. Where's your show? Ramona Mainstage. Nice. And Ramona, yeah. Looking forward to it. When is it? And by the way, I'm divorced and all the proceeds go to my ex-wife. Sweet. That's nice. Show up there. Really nice. Excellent. I'm remarried, but I am divorced and all my money does go to her Botox, but that's okay. Wow. Very specific. Was that one of those bitter reactions? Very specific, yes. Like that I'm bitter? No, I'm not bitter whatsoever, but I do get it all out on stage, which is amazing. So when is the show? Tomorrow night, Friday night, I'm not sure of the time. I never know these things. I'm always stumped. It's like, get me going with the comedy. I'm all right, but set me up with that. Yeah, you can just Google it or craigshoemaker.com or something like that. You're going to show up? Is it at night? It's at night. It won't happen. I'm like Twilight. I'm like Edward from Twilight. Edward Cullen, yeah. I go to bed at 6.30. I get up at 1.30. 7 p.m.
Do you have a Team Mikey, too? Yeah. Yeah, they all got translucent people. Only they're Mexican and fat and bald. So you don't go out at night whatsoever, even for some laughs? Listen, I encourage my people that listen to go see you. I do that. But laughter's so good for you. It is. It's great. But I'd rather watch you on video. I'd rather watch on a DVD than get out of the house during the weeknight. You know, because I've got to go to bed at 6. This morning I got up at 1 a.m. I'm going to have to leave you with my CD, which just went cardboard. I'm very proud of that. I might go to tin. Push me up there. You had a great story. Can we talk about your story off the air that you were telling us? Because we were all talking Joe Pesci stories. Oh, yeah. It is wild who I run into in Los Angeles, being in the business. I grew up in Philadelphia. The local celebrities are like Captain Noah, the children's host. You see him go, Captain Noah, I saw him. I couldn't believe I got his autograph. Al Alberts? Whoa. She's from the same area. She's from the same area. He's from Philly, New Jersey. She just blew your mind. I'm here in Southern California, and you look very California. Never did I think she'd go, Al Alberts.
How did you pull that one out? He was a big player. I grew up outside the area. Who is he? How would you describe him? Like a Lawrence Wilkes? Yeah. I'm even surprised at your age you have no Lawrence Wilkes reference. That's pretty wild. But yeah, Al Alberts hosted the Al Alberts Showcase. Yeah. Which I couldn't wait to get on there when I was a stand-up. I didn't want to be on the Tonight Show. Right. I had weird goals when I was a kid. One of them was Hollywood Squares. I wanted to be the center square. Oh, yeah. Because there was a guy, Paul Lind. Yeah. Paul Lind. I wrote him letters to fix him up with my mother. Get out of here. I read an article and he was single. I was a kid. I didn't know why he was single. I thought he was happy. Hello. Hello. The ascot might have been a giveaway, but I wrote him letters. I mean, one time on the show, they said, Paul, how many balls in a billiard table? I don't know. How many guys are playing? I mean, who knew? Who knew when I was a kid? I put my mom's photo in there. You know, she was a belly dancer. I put Shaharazad. That was her belly dancing name. And I gave him two photos of my mother. Maybe you'll unconfirm as a bachelor if you meet her. Because I wanted a dad. I wanted a dad. And I thought Paul Lynn was perfect. She used to laugh at him. And she thought he was cute. What's your dad look like, son? I thought we would.
This would be the first father and son team on the Hollywood Squares. I'd like Craig and Paul Lynn for the win. That's so great. This one's yours, Dad. I think it's yours, son. This was my imagination would run wild. And I actually ended up on Hollywood Squares for like 75 episodes. I was never the center square, though. And they never knew my name. They were so... Like, I'm not a big celebrity. I was always Craig Shoemaker to block. That's the only way they were going to call on me. One time I'm looking at a monitor... I'm the only way to go. She's like, I'll take Antonio Banderas to lose. Anything to call Craig Shoemaker and try to pronounce it. It's just a shoemaker. There's no ocker. It's not an umlaut from Bavaria. But anyway, those I had. Weird dreams as I was a kid, you know, not having a dad. I wrote to Tim McCarver. Right. He's the baseball player. He's a catcher. Sportscaster. I used to read the cards, and I didn't care what they batted. I looked for S for single. Right. And all I cared about, if they were single, I didn't care how many singles they hit. I just wanted, you know, a dad to be in some sort of entertainment or sports. You figure if you throw that out enough times, eventually end up with a dad, you know? It's the law of attraction, right? What you put to the universe, it comes back, right? Well, listen to this.
Joe Buck is his broadcasting partner on Fox now, and he's like a fan of mine. I told him the story, and I said he never wrote me back, either than Paul Lynn, by the way. Right. Apparently I should have put my photo, not my mother's. So never wrote me back, and Tim McCarver never wrote me back. But Wilt Chamberlain is your father now, which is really cool. That's great. He's the father love master, baby. That's right. That's right. Oh, yeah. That's right. See, and I love you so good your neighbor will have a smoke, baby. Wow. Anyway, that's Will Chamberlain, also from Philadelphia. But Tim McCarver, so I told Joe Buck the story, and then next time I saw Joe, he gave me a ball. And it says, Dear son, time to grow up. Love dad, a.k.a. Tim McCarver. That's awesome. Yeah, I still haven't met him yet, though. Deadbeat dad. But anyway, I met, so I was driving the golf cart, and Joe Pesci told me that he's a, like, I remember the first time I met him, We're outside having a cigar at this gig. And he goes, I hate comedians. He goes, I hate them all.
He goes, my parents at five years old, they put me on stage and made me be a comic. I can't stand any of you. And then I got off stage. He goes, you're the greatest. So he became like a fan. Right. So this is years later now. This is a few weeks ago. I see him. I go, he'll never remember me. And I go, hi, Joe. I'm driving my golf cart with my kids. And he goes, hey, it's nice to see you again. It's Craig Shoemaker. Hey, Craig Shoemaker. Tony, look who it is. We just saw him on YouTube. We love you. That love master cracks us up. That's great. My kid's favorite movie, the six-year-old, is Home Alone. So he's... Turns to my kid. He goes, you know what I'm going to do to you? I'm going to chew your fingers down to the bone. I'm going to spit them out. Because I don't like kids. So great. And my six-year-old goes, did it hurt when your head was on fire? It's so weird. Did it scare the kid, or did the kid really love it? He just had this little, like, surreal look. Like, I don't know what to, you know. Because, look, his dad's a comic. So, like, weird things happen to him anyway. My kids, you know, they know all the cartoon. You know, they know Ray Romano now. He's Mammy the Mammoth. Right.
He did the impression from my other son. He goes, hi, it's Mammy the Mammoth. And my son goes, my dad does it better than you. Oh, wow. Having no idea, he's going to the original. And Buzz Lightyear, they meet him, Tim Allen, and stuff like that. Have you done any of that stuff, like movie voices and stuff? Yeah, I do cartoon voices. So when you do that, what is it? They send you to some place, like some studio in Burbank. You walk into a studio, that kind of deal? Actually, it's in Burbank. Most of them are in Burbank. I figured. Yeah. I figured. And you're in a room with, like, all these famous people, too, because, well, they're not working anymore. You know, like Judith Light from Who's the Boss? Sure. You know, I'm, like, working with her. I'm going, oh, so that's what she's doing now. Right, right. Angela. Angela. Angela. Angela. Angela. Angela. What are you doing? And you're like, you know, and then there's George Segal's in the room with you. Oh, wow. George Segal. That's great. All these people, that's who you work with because they do all these voiceovers because they want to keep working and keep their medical benefits or whatever it is. I work with these people, you know, Patrick Stewart. Do you know who he is? Yeah, Star Trek. X-Men. Well, we did a movie together called Safe House. Yeah.
And I play like his best friend. It's a good movie, by the way. And it's not a comedy, but I'm like the comic relief. It's about Alzheimer's, so it can't be that funny. Right. I forgot the joke, Craig. And the first day on the set, they go, go do an impression. I love it. I just did it from Picard. I go, make it so, number one. He looks at me, you're a weenie. Make him go away. I mean, he's this regal Shakespearean actor. I'm playing the chuckle hut in Winging Loogie, Michigan next week. You know what I mean? That's great. So I loosened him up. I ended up loosening him up because he really was kind of uptight. As a matter of fact, there's a fighting scene in the movie. And they said, well, we have stand-ins for you. He goes, I don't need one. Do you, Craig? And I'll go, you know, so you humiliated me into fighting him on the film. Oh, my God. Oh, yeah. And he took shots at me on screen. You can see it. Like real shots. Oh, yeah. He hits me in the head with his knee. Oh, wow. Knees me into a fern. Holy cow. You see, I go backwards in the fern. I am not acting. I'm going to get it. What's the name of it again? Safe House. Safe House. I'm going to watch it. We don't need stuntmen, do we, Craig?
Then it's like this scene. I go, well, you take him over here. And he goes, I have it down. Don't you worry. And then all of a sudden, it's like Batman. I need a thunk and a thow. So this one time where it was like, now we're a month into it. So I said, I'm going to loosen him up. I'm going to be like an American here. I said, hey, Patrick, did you ever take your jewels, like your whole package, and tuck it back by your rear end and see what you look like as a woman? Right, like in Silence of the Lambs. Yeah, I said, have you ever been doing a little mangina? He goes, yes, Craig, I've done a mangina. Everybody has. Well, if you're in bed and you're naked, one leg goes over the other, you have a mangina. It's an accidental mangina, but it is one. What an odd question to just out of nowhere, you go, hey, Patrick. I'll do the tuck back. Yeah. Have you ever done that, Patrick? Oh, it gets worse. I said, have you ever done Rocketman? He goes, what's Rocketman, Craig? I'm intrigued. I said, well, you tuck it back into the launch pad and you go five, four, three, two. and there's a Rocket Man. He goes, let's wrap it up. Let's go home and do Rocket Man. Engage! I'll be doing that later for the record. Of course you will. Maybe on the next break. I've never done Rocket Man. You're intrigued as Patrick Stewart. He did that, by the way, Woods did that thing that you're talking about. He did that to his sister-in-law. His brother's wife.
There's Mangina Protocol. Yes, there is. I think he might have crossed the line on that one. She knows. She's in the family now. So she's privy to all of our bits. All of you. Don't tell me you did the scene. Put the lotion in the basket. I did. Yeah. I walked out. You did put the lotion in the basket. With the robe. And I go just like this. By the way, he just touched it for me. Right. As if I didn't know that that's what he. Oh, yeah. Where's my precious? Yeah, hey, what are you about a size 12? Frederica Brummel. That guy's on Monk now, and it's so weird. I know. You can't see him in anything else. He was in Heat. He was in the movie Heat. I know. And you see him in all those things, and you're just like... He tries to disguise himself. He dyes his hair red with a mustache. Hey, Monk. It's hard to have that voice and try to be something different. It's Tony Shalhoub from Monk.
570-1949 is our number. Craig Shoemaker's in here. He's going to be up in Ramona. Ramona Mainstage tomorrow night. Yeah, Friday. At 7 o'clock. I looked it up. Oh, you looked it up? You looked it up because you're coming, aren't you? Of course. There you go. Come see the love master baby. So are you working on it? I'll add you to Craig's list. Oh, wow. Craig Shoemaker in the studio. And we have my boss, my general manager. Used to be your general manager. Isn't that wild, yeah? Yeah, he's a good dude. He's the greatest. Love him. I'm taking him golfing. I don't even know why I golf. I play in this Drew Brees thing that they had last week. I got a trophy for closest to the car. Don't even park near where I shoot. Is he a good golfer, our boss? Yes, he is. He's a very good golfer. Really? Yes. As a matter of fact, he bets, too. So I'm about to lose more salary after he fired me because he'll kill me. Does he look more like Robert Duvall? See, that's my call. That's your call? That's not everyone else's? Well, no, because he says that he believes that he looks like that he mostly gets mistaken for James Taylor.
And I'm like, James Taylor? I'll give you James Taylor a little bit. If I say it's safe to suck this meat, Captain, it's safe to suck this meat. This is what he did when he fired me, by the way. I like the smell of napalm in the morning. That's awesome. Yeah, that's what he did when he fired me. But, yeah, it was the best firing, though, because I turned to him and I said, you know, you're the greatest boss ever. And he was, like, not ready for it. He was ready to duke it out with the Philly guy. You know, I was going to go all Philly on him, but I know. I went spiritual. He's a good guy. He's a really nice guy. He's the greatest, yeah. That's your new boss. That's fantastic. He's a good dude. And he built us this studio, which I got. He did? Yeah. He built us a, you know, we're the only ones that use this room and use this studio. I don't want to say anything, but he built me one, too. He built you one, too. He told me how he told me. He did. He told me. Which is now as a wrecking ball, but that's okay.
Just know if he makes a golf appointment with you that it could be your firing. Oh, great. Super. If there's plastic on the floor when you walk in. There's quotation marks. I want to golf with you. That's me to golf this weekend. Great. There's no way. You're done. I'm not kidding you. He flew out 3,000 miles to fire me, but basically under the auspices of we're going to go golfing. Oh, wow. He's going to fly 3,000 miles to go golf. Yeah. Wow. Hey, Craig Shoemaker. Thank you. He's going to be up in Ramona tomorrow at 7 o'clock. The show is tomorrow at 7 o'clock at the Ramona what? Main stage. Ramona main stage. It's supposed to be a beautiful theater. It's here for Craig Schumacher. Thank you, sir. Very nice. Thank you, Craig. I hope you enjoyed my turkey sandwich. I don't blame you for taking it. After all, it was made from boar's head oven gold turkey. It's the best money can buy. How could you see it sitting in the fridge and not be tempted? It's not like it was some cheap turkey from a sandwich chain packed with preservatives, fat, and fillers like seaweed extract. You may be a thief, but clearly you have standards. Tomorrow, I'll be putting another oven gold turkey sandwich in the fridge. I know it's hard to resist. I love all melons. Sienna. When someone does something to me, I'll be like, eh, whatever. But if you mess with someone that I love, I will take you down. Ha! Bam, bam. And Jay. Dana Hoff was so hot, she could have done anything. That's true. That's true. On FM 94.9. Woods does a great physical impression of Scott Weiland. But the problem with his physical impression of Scott Weiland is that it's very similar to his physical impression of Mick Jagger. It's very similar. It's very... Axl Rose. He does Axl Rose. Yes, there it is. It's very similar to Axl. Oh, wow. True. Oh, boy. Let's see. Tonight's 8 o'clock album. Not a surf! Garrett. Here's the album. One of my favorites.
All right, so we're going to revisit Boom Goes the Dynamite. This was a college freshman. Yes, Ball State University. At Ball State University. Muncie, Indiana. He wanted to be a sportscaster. Very badly. And where was this? Where was he trying this? Where was he doing this? At Ball State. Ball State. Okay. Ball State. Get it, Mike, Ball State. Got it. And so. This was the first time, by the way, so I want you to give him a little bit of a break. Because it was the first time that he had ever actually got to be behind a camera and have the cameras roll for him to try to give a sportscast. Now, understand, it's not the easiest thing to do, but his was pretty memorable. Hello, everyone. Will the Ball State softball team continue to play this weekend? And they were hoping to continue off of their straight three out of four losses. And so we'll take a look and see how that happened. They started off good, but then eventually the Ball State women's team shut down and ended up doing poorly. Oh, no. And we're going to continue on now. The ladies Cardinals will play an Iowa tournament starting this Friday. So he's watching the highlights. And as they do on SportsCenter, he is commentating on the highlights.
explaining them to you. Before the Ball State baseball team kicks off its conference season this weekend, the Cards will battle an in-state rival Indiana tomorrow. Tomorrow's game will be the meeting between the two, beating both. No, just keep going. Sounds like Woods on Sports. Only better. He is now just, he's watching the highlights. Highlights are playing, they're guys playing baseball. The Ball State team, they're hitting, they're pitching, they're fielding, and he's going. Now, his job is to commentate. He sees it. He's supposed to call the action. Now, remember, this is one thing I want to explain. The one thing that really sets one sportscaster aside from another sportscaster is that they've got to have that line. There have always been guys throughout the history of sports. They've got their line. Somebody hits a home run, en fuego.
Back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back. Gone! They've got to have their... They've got to have their catchphrase. That was for you, man. Holy cow. Four on, on the year, and they have won six of its last seven games tomorrow. It will be the game three at 3 p.m. Okay. Switching to Ball State Mims Tennis, it seems every week they have a player... Okay. How's that? He's going to cry. Matt Lawrence is the latest Cardinals tennis player to win the award. Lamar won all the singles and doubles matches last week. So far, the Cardinals have had a player honored on the weekly awards. Seven out of the nine weeks. The cards will play at Boise State Invite this weekend. Boise State Invite. The Indiana Pacers are looking for a measure of revenge tonight against the New Jersey Nets and to strengthen their playoff hopes.
The Nets won the last Sunday's matchup, 94-85, which left the Pacers one game behind the Chicago in the seven series spot. Let's check out the highlights. Okay. Steven Jackson's David... Uh-oh. Take it easy. Where you are. Say something. Reggie Miller's looking good. Uh-huh. He shoots a three, and it's good. Catchphrase coming up. He's just waiting. Later, he gets the rebound, passes it to the man, shoots it, and boom goes the dynamite. The final scores ended up with the Pacers 63 to the Nets 61. The Associated Press of the All-American First Team in college baseball was announced today at Utah's 7-foot sophomore center Andrew Bogart was the leading vote receiving 60 first-place votes. Bogart, who is an Australian native, received very little attention in the presentation.
in the preseason, but averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds a game for Utah. The four other players joining Bogot on the AP team are senior forward Wayne Summers of Kansas and Hecken Warwick of Syracuse. Junior guard J.J. Redick of Duke and sophomore guard Chris Paul of Wake Forest rebounded out the list. Let's check out some of the scores tonight. You bet. Scores are on the screen. They're just there. Okay, great. Thanks a lot for that. I love this. I think he did great, dear. So how do you think I did? How was that, guys? Do I need to do a retake on that? I think we're good. We're good? Yeah. You sure you don't want me to do it again? No. I think that's good. You gave it all you had. Do I call you? No.
What do I do? No. I'll have someone in the AV department get a hold of you and we'll see what we can do. Okay, let me leave you my schedule because I just... No. Do you know when they'll call? I don't... They won't. I... They won't. We have your number. Okay, and you'll call? Next. That's just sad. Poor bastard. So, he went on Tosh.0. Tosh.0, by the way, trying to get him on the show for the last couple of years. Finally got him to come on and ask him about some of the origins of, and boom goes the dynamite. Did you come up with boom goes the dynamite? And how did you come up with it? My friends that we all just kind of got paired up in college, we used to play Mario Kart a lot. And that's what we did. We all kind of came up with our own catchphrases. So when you would play Mario Kart and win, you would scream boom goes the dynamite? Yeah, you would typically...
A good point to yell it out is when you hit somebody with a green shell. Because the green shells are harder. They are not easy. They don't just zip onto them. No. You've got to have some aid. And boom goes the dynamite. Boom goes the dynamite. That kid. Tosh asked him, so what are you doing now? He goes, freelance journalism. Freelance. Means for hire. Means I'm waiting for the call. He said, have you done sports since? He goes, that was the first and last time I have done sports. I'm convinced. Well, the Ball State softball team continued to play this weekend, and they were hoping to continue off their straight three out of four losses. And so we'll take a look and see how that happened. They started off good, but then eventually the Ball State women's team shut down. The character from The Office gave. Do you ask that? I'm convinced it's off of that guy. He's so awkward and always uncomfortable. I'm like, ugh. Yeah. I'm convinced. That guy, you can see him just in torture. He's being tortured. And they just let him. He goes, I knew that they were just going to pull me and cut away. They didn't. They purposely let him just sit there and die. Poor Sienna was sitting there coming out of her skin for that poor guy. My heart goes out to him. My heart goes out to him.
You may think with songs you're super. You recognize them right out. They're never quite the lyrics or directions anywhere. But now she's gone. 570-194-9 is our number. And Jay, what do we have up for grabs today? We have the new Beastie Boys CD, Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. There you go. Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. Sounds like my family. Mr. Tapatio. That's right. Mr. Cholula. Frank. 570-1949. Oh, Frank. And what we're going to do is we've plugged in our TomTom device. And we have TomTom device here. Hi, TomTom girl. Good morning, Mikey. And TomTom girl will read the lyrics to some songs. And you just have to tell us what song she's reading the lyrics to. It's tough because, you know, her inflection. I've picked a theme for this week.
What is it? I won't tell them until they get it. Say again. I won't tell them until they get it. I think you said that you won't tell them until they get it. That's correct, Mikey. Do I stutter? No, you do not. M1 Noob from Spring Valley, how are you? Are you ready to play Tom Tom Tunes? I am. All right, you're going to have 20 seconds to listen to these lyrics and give us title or artist for the win. Here we go. Saturday, wait, and Sunday always comes too late, but Friday never hesitates. Dressed up to the eyes, it is a wonderful surprise to see your shoes and your spirits rise. Throwing out your frown and just smiling at the sound, and sleek as a sheik, spinning round and round. I just need title or artist for you to win. I've got no idea. That was The Cure.
And Friday, I'm in love. It's tough, TomTomgirl. It's tough because sometimes it's hard to understand, you know? I mean, you've got this robotic inflection. It's not called give away the prizes. That's true. You've got to win it. You've got to win the prize. M1G Love from Oceanside. Are you there? All right, 20 seconds to listen to these lyrics and give us an answer. Here we go. Sunday morning, rain is falling. Steal some covers, share some skin. Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable. You twist to fit the mold that I am in, but things just get so crazy. Living life gets hard to do, and I would gladly hit the road. All we need is title or artist for the win. It is. Yeah, I don't know. That was Maroon 5 Sunday morning. We heard Friday I'm in Love by The Cure.
And that was Maroon 5 Sunday morning. Is anyone picking up what I'm putting down now? I think I'm picking up what you're putting down there, Tom Tom Girl. Thank you, Mikey. M1 Scene from San Diego. How are you? Pretty good. How are you guys doing? Pretty good. We're going to give you 20 seconds of a song here from the Tom Tom Girl. And then you've got to tell us, title or artist to win. Again, it's... Brand new Beastie Boys CD up for grabs. It's the Taco Shock Committee. So 20 seconds and here we go. Heading up to San Francisco for the Labor Day weekend show. I have got my hush poppies on. I guess I never was meant for glitter rock and roll. And honey, I did not know that I'd be missing you. So come Monday, it will be all right. Just title or artist for the win. That was... Pink? No, it was actually Jimmy Buffett and Come Monday. First we had The Cures, Friday I'm in Love, and then we did Maroon 5's Sunday morning, and then it was Jimmy Buffett, Come Monday. And honey, I...
Sounds like somebody's got a case of the mongers. I'll say this. I'm not a fan of Jimmy Buffett music, but I like that one. It's such a good song. Don't like Margaritaville. Don't like Margaritaville. cheeseburgers in paradise. Don't you? With all the Tommy Bahama you wear, you'd think you'd be like the biggest parrot head. I don't wear Tommy Bahama. One white shirt. 100 white shirts.
Explain that tattoo then. TB. Did you have tuberculosis? No, I didn't. I don't have a tattoo. You like Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers? I don't have a tattoo. Why in your phone is there a listing for Tom Bahama? Because I call Tommy Bahama Tom. Bahamas. Most of his friends call him Tom. Like, your friends call you Mike. Right. Mikey. Why would I even call... Why would I call Tom? To tell him how much you like the new lines. When are the latest fashions coming out, Tom? When's the next big thing coming out? Couture linen pants. Couture linen. Come on. Let's see. Did you guys hear about the 75-year-old man that was arrested because he... Was grabbing his wife's buttocks too hard. 75-year-old man in Florida. Weird. He was at home drinking and playing music really late. It was actually 2 a.m. in the morning. Finally.
Finally, his wife comes out and gets mad. She's like, look, you can't be blasting music at 2 a.m. and sitting outside drinking. They get into a huge argument, and she says he aggressively gropes her butt. So what does she do? She calls the police. They get there. He says, quote, the 75-year-old man, I don't know what her problem is. She won't let me party. The cop said, well, it's 2 a.m., and he said, yeah, party time. Yeah, party time. Hey, party time. She won't let me party. Yeah, I'm trying to party around here. I'm trying to grab stuff. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. He was arrested and charged with batteries. I didn't have a battery. I plugged it in. That's right. I don't use batteries. Baby, where's your butt? What's wrong with grabbing your wife's butt? I grab it too hard. You can grab it. You just can't grab it with prejudice. Now, y'all know how sometimes I don't realize my own strength. Yeah. Y'all know that. What I think is a pat really is me, you know, getting after it. I beat up Mike Tyson with one of my swings. I could crumble boulders with my hands. Right. I have.
I have done it. And will. Yeah, but I will. And will continue. You know the sand on the beach? It was once boulders. I crushed it. You know Wile E. Coyote? Yep. He's scared of me. Yeah, sure he is. Crushed walnuts in my butt. Aggressively. For fun. Just for fun. Why not? And snacks. Everybody wins. Chestnuts, roast them on a fire. Everybody. Or my stomach. It's the same thing. A fire and my stomach are synonymous. They're the same thing. Well, I would never say synonymous. Cinemous. Cinemous. Cinemous. Cinemous, like a place you go see movies. Right. Cinemous. Like a cinemous bomb. Right. The whole thing's a revelerent. You know? The whole thing is. Whatever you think you know about this man is a revelerent. Really? Really? I get it. I get it. I'm old. It's not the only thing we were saying about you. Jay was also out in Florida and got arrested for attacking a woman with a pool noodle over a dispute over watermelon. Yes, a Florida man was arrested. They were at the beach, and they were not there together. And apparently this woman finds a watermelon that's cut open.
sitting on the beach. No one was near it and there were bugs all around it. So what does she do? She takes the watermelon and throws it in the ocean. What are you doing? You can't throw that in there. This man sees his watermelon floating in the ocean, goes back, gets it, brings it back on the beach. The woman does the same thing. Takes it, throws it back in the water. So he gets out. So he gets out of the ocean with his pool noodle that he's been floating on. He's floating in the ocean on a pool noodle. So he takes the noodle and gets all the water that's absorbed in the noodle and pours it all over her. Oh, my. Like he wrings it out? Right. While she's sitting on her towel, but then he goes a little bit further and punches her in the cheek. Oh, with the noodle? With his fist. Oh, wow. But he does the noodle first and hits her with the noodle. Ow! Come over here. Ow! Ow! What are you doing? Give me that watermelon. Give me the watermelon. She put that watermelon in the ocean.
Come here. I'm fermenting it. I don't care. There's vodka in here. Ow, ow, ow, ow. That's a noodle. It's a bowl noodle. What is a man? Oh, my God. Stop it. There you are. Get it yourself. The man was charged with battery and is being held on a $1,000 bond. Oh, my gosh. Florida. Florida. Florida. Who's the greatest front man of all time? We can debate. What? 570-1949. Greatest front man of all time. 5701-94.9. I don't think you are, Marcy. I don't think you do this. Why not? Tell me. I don't even know. You don't even know. I know. I don't.
I don't even think you're a Mexican. You're supposed to like me, Mikey. You're not even like... Mikey. Morrissey. What's going on? I need to put a dip of snuff in. You don't dip snuff, Morrissey. Yes, I do. No, you don't. Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, a 91-year-old woman from El Cajon who sells helium hood kits that people use to kill themselves. So, suicide kits. She said that her home was raided by the federal agents yesterday. Her computers, her sewing machine, and the boxes of ready-made kits were seized as evidence. Now, this woman's name is Charlotte Heidorn. She's the owner and founder of the GLAAD Group. And these kits, which essentially are just a plastic bag and clear tubing, can be purchased through mail or telephone for $60. A man in Oregon killed himself using one of these kits that he bought through her to asphyxiate himself with helium. Maybe sell Amway. Or Mary Kay. Yeah, this is a big Monday night. What's wrong with them, dude? It kills people. I mean, it's kind of a weird... Are you taking too far? I don't know. It's just like you're thinking of going into a business. Here, come on. What about balloons? Why don't you do balloons? I never really thought about that. Just do that. Just do that. Or Mary Kay. I got you something, Mikey. Oh.
This woman's been in business for three years. She said she's trying to help people in pain, not make money off kits. But the Oregon lawmakers... No, why would anyone think that? Oregon lawmakers are working on a bill that would make it a felony to sell or transfer any such a kit. On a lighter note, there's a new Shamu show. Oh, wow. Which is debuting this weekend. They had the same show for five years called Believe. Now this new one is called One Ocean. And there are no trainers that are going to be in the water with the killer whales. It's going to be six whales performing together. They want to try and get back, but after the trainer dies, they have to be really careful. Yeah, but that's part of the fun is seeing them flip people. Well, they're still going to do amazing things like splash you and do tricks in the air. And there's going to be dozens of fountains. You hear that, Maki? Yeah, Maki. Hey, it's a new Mikey show. Yeah. You're going to be really busy the next couple weeks. Look at that. They're not even going to let anybody in the water with you, Mikey. You're probably going to eat them. That's why. That's right. Because even when you're full, you're hungry. Big old Shamu. Shamu. Like Moo. Mikey Moo. Mikey Moo. Shammy. Free Mikey. Shammy. Shammy.
Woods, what's going on in sports? Well, finally last night, the Padres won. If you didn't hear earlier, they beat the Cardinals 3-1 to avoid the sweep at home. You never want to be swept, and it feels real good. Matt Latos went out and pitched his guts out last night through eight innings, struck out seven, played really, really well. So he looked dominant. Hopefully he's getting back to form. And the Heat, the Miami Heat, with LeBron, D. Wade, and Chris Bosh can punch their ticket tonight to the finals if they beat the Bulls. They have a 3-1 series lead. That would make it Bulls-Mavs. No, it would make it Heat-Mavs. Heat-Mavs. Yeah, Mavs-Heat-Mavs. Woods just read Scott Weiland's book. Woods believes that Scott Weiland is the best front man of all time. We have a question, though. We had a question from a listener who wanted to know, well, Define frontman. Okay. Easy. Not looking for the best voice. I'm looking for the best stage presence. Frontman. Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Scott Weiland. Guys that can captivate an audience. When you go see them play, they're the guy you're looking at the whole time. I mean, they own their space. Paul Stanley. Garrett texted me and said his vote's for Paul Stanley. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. Frontman. David Lee Roth. So it doesn't have anything to do with singing? No.
Okay. I mean, obviously it has something to do with singing because you're there. You like the music. It sounds good in your head. But when you watch that guy perform, he's miles above everybody else. And for me, it's Scott Weiland. Man, it's hard to make an argument against Scott Weiland. Yeah. He's pretty darn good. How do you not go Mick Jagger, though? Yeah. Good guy. I don't like the rooster prance. I never have. I've always thought it was a little stupid. And what does he have besides the rooster prance? He covers the stage. He does. He works the whole time. So you mean he's running around. He is running around. He's in the crowd. He's, you know. I never liked the head bob. He's just roostering. I never liked the rooster bit. I never did. I never thought it was cool. When Weiland comes out and he's got a freaking cops. hat on big ass sunglasses leather pants and he's no shirt no shirt purple feather bow and he's doing his dances and he's singing your i mean i'm like drugged out of his mind wow you ever seen him oh yeah three times as stp or as i've seen him as stp twice and velvet once once and once for me one time was in uh boston in a small club took him forever
To come out on stage. It took forever. Which really sucked. It sucked. That sucks waiting. The show was supposed to start at 9. It started at 12.30. Oh, my God. Ugh. But it was worth it. That was in the heyday of his dark season. It was worth it. L.O.B.'s giving me the no way. But you know what? Everybody was drinking. No, I mean just Scott Weiland in general. Oh, I'm telling you, though, man. He's so narcissistic. And it's all about that performance and everything he does on stage is for him. With Mick Jagger, it's all about playing to the crowd. Now, how do you know that about Scott Weiland? Because I've seen, I've never seen either one of them live. It just appears that he's like so in his head and just. He gives it everything he's got to connect with the audience. And it is. See, I disagree. It's unbelievable. I was at a meet and greet with a clown. Was he on stage singing?
That's what I'm talking about. He did the stage thing, and then afterwards he came back, and he was late to the meet and greet. Yeah, I mean, no denying. And then he was like. He hung up on me a couple of times, and we don't get along. Who's got the good drugs? Yeah, he's not the nicest guy in the world. No, I'm talking about his personality. When he came out on stage when I saw him in Boston, and the first song they played was Cracker Man. Cracker Man. There was nothing like that. Nothing. And he was, I just see what Woods was describing is exactly what he was doing. Cobb hat, sunglasses, no shirt, black leather pants and a purple feather boa. And all I remember was there were a few people that were really, really like rocking out, really into it. But most people were just staring. I was staring because he's really commanding, really commanding.
570-1949. Who's the best front man of all time? M1 Jessica from Carlsbad. Hey there. Hands down. Scott Weiland. Yeah. Scott Weiland a thousand times over. And I have to say, this is going on from the 90s. He has completely just opened up himself. He is amazing with the crowd. So I don't know where everyone else saw him. But I have to say, even in his worst. He goes out there, performs. He may be a little funky, but he is amazing. Amazing. You can't take your eyes off him. You can't take your eyes off him. When you watch him, you just can't. Thank you for the call. Thanks. Bye-bye. M1, Greg from Carlsbad. Hey, Mikey. How are you? Good. Good. Yeah. You know, it's not why I've got a great voice, but I just, hands down, it's David Lee Roth. Especially if the question is front man. Oh, yeah. combination of singing and just jump around and get in the audience. Are you guys young enough or old enough? Oh, yeah. For sure. Van Halen and it's A-Day? You know, my first Van Halen concert was with Sammy, so I never did get to see Dave, but I've seen, obviously, footage. Is that right? You never saw Dave? Wow. I saw Dave and Sammy. Dave's incredible. That might not be your bet, then. If you had actually seen Dave either in Van Halen or in the years that he was playing with Steve Vai, I mean, just...
You know, the consummate showman. Oh, I did see... No, okay, I take that back. I saw him solo. You did. I saw him... I saw David Lee Roth as David Lee Roth. I did see that, and it was a weird story. So I went to that show with Sky from my old show, and we were, because I was such a Van Halen fanatic, on the railing, okay? This was the creepiest, grossest thing. He looks at... sky i mean because we're standing you know we're two feet away right he looks at her and he mouths i mean as flagrantly as you can mouth it i want to you wow and i was like i was looking at him and i felt so filthy dirty just stand and i mean and she was like in shock like
Oh, wow. Wow. Yeah. Wow. I mean, he was right there, and he was older then. He wasn't like cool-looking David Lee Rock. Yeah, he was 1984. No, he was like gut-hanging out. Yeah. And he was like... Did she say how he was? Oh, boy. I'm talking about a Yankee Rose. What is he thinking? Peter Frampton? So filthy. It was... Hideous. Flattering. You know who else is a close second for me is Bono. Yeah, Bono's great. Bono Live is just, he's insane. Bono's great. He's a great front man. Man, are we getting some real... Are we getting some weird ones? We're getting some real, real different ones out there. How about M1AK from Point Loma? What do you think? I was really torn between these two, but I think...
Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix. Did you ever see him? No. Yeah. Yeah. That's my thing. Why Jimi Hendrix? I just, he's, he, cause he was amazing and he did every time anything I've ever seen on Jimi Hendrix, he captivated everyone. Like when his presence, when he started his guitar, everyone was like, I can get that, man. I would have loved to seen him play. I know me too. And that's why I was kind of torn because you guys started calling people out where, They've actually seen him live. I don't know about anyone that I've actually seen in real life. But for me, I would think of all time, I was torn between him and actually Bob Marley because Bob Marley did the same thing. He was like a spiritual revolutionary. People listened. Like, all eyes on him. And that's what a front man is supposed to be, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I actually asked to see what the... I said define...
front man because I didn't know exactly what you meant. No, I get it. To Chris, I said, well, first I was like on Jagger. No one can take it from Jagger, but when he defined it, I'm like, I'll have to go with Jimi Hendrix because that's my man. Yeah. All right. Thank you. That's a good call. Appreciate it. All right, man. Love you guys. Jay, how was Hendrix live? He's not my favorite. I think Lawrence Welk was probably. M1 Ronnie from Oceanside. I think Mike Muir from Suicidal Tennessee is the best front man ever. Why with an eye roll, Woods? I don't know. He's amazing, man. Every time he performs, he calls people up on stage. It's an interactive show. Best of all time. But I don't want an interactive show. I want to be entertained. I don't want Joe Blow from Escondido up there singing Suicidal Tendencies with me. I'm going to give you two arguments. And you've got to try to track with me here. Because they're not all over the stage. These two guys are not all over the stage.
And in terms of commanding presence, they don't have what David Lee Roth or what Mick Jagger or your guy. Weiland. Weiland has. But I'm talking unicorn presence. Okay. Okay? Kurt Cobain. Unicorn presence? Without question. And here's the other one. I'm just going to start to play the first few chords. And you tell me about Lane Staley. Right? Without question. I mean, the guy didn't really do much in terms of being on stage, but boy, did that guy have a presence, didn't he? I mean, just in his weirdness. And his coolness. And his coolness. Very cool up there. His big glasses. Hello, B, have you ever seen Alice in Chains? You ever seen Alice in Chains unplugged? No. That's where this comes from. Ah. And it's one of the saddest things ever, because it was right before he died. But...
It's also, as sick as he was, he still sang like this. Swimming in that sweater. Big, huge, huge sweater. Dark glasses. His face was all gaunt. He had OD'd that day. Day? That day in his hotel room in New York, I believe. He OD'd that day. Went and performed? He did another big shot of heroin right to the stage. Insanity. Yeah, one of the things that I think was the saddest about Lane Staley is by the time they found Lane Staley when he had died, he'd actually been gone for a while, but he had isolated himself from his friends so much and his bandmates and everybody in his life so much that no one knew. You know how they found out? There was no activity on his card, his debit card. He used to get drugs every day, get, you know, debit his money out, and there was no activity for two weeks. So they knew. He was like 88 pounds.
Wow. I've been hearing from M1 Michelle from La Mesa. Who do you think? I've got to go with Freddie Mercury of Queens. Hell yeah, dude. Hell yeah. A ton of text messages saying the exact same thing. He was legendary. Another guy that knew how to use the stage, right? And his voice. Actually an opera singer before he became a rock singer. Weren't we all? Real good kisser, too. Oh, wow. That was a little bit strange. Oh. I think we should call the band Queen. Let me think about that, man. Listen, you're Brian May, the guitar player. You don't really have any input. I think we should call the band Queen. I think we should call the band King. Doesn't Queen have some connotations? No, not at all. We're from England, so let's call it Queen, as in, you know, tip our hats to the Queen. I'd rather call it, someone in the middle would call it Monarchy. It doesn't have the same ring as...
Queen. Yeah, Queen's a girl. The name is Queen. Queen's a girl. The name is Queen. Queen's a girl. What about Elizabeth? That doesn't make any sense. It's a girl's name. It's a freaking girl. It's the Queen. Let's just call it Queen. You play the drums. You play the guitar. I'll play the piano. Dammit, I'm not going to play in a band called Queen. Yes, you are. Listen. If you want to play with me, you will. I do want to play with you, Freddie, but I don't want to call the band Queen. It's Queen. Just Queen. Period. The queen? The queen? No, queen. Just queen. I'll take the heat on this one, all right? Freddie, you realize if we call the bun queen, they're going to think you're gay. Yes. I'm fine with that. Let's transform and bend the genders. If you're secure enough. I'm secure enough in my mind. You've got to be secure about this, Freddie. I'm secure enough in my manhood. Let me show you my manhood. No, it's all right. I don't need to see it. Don't you? Wiener time. Freddie. Brian. Listen to me. I'm not kidding about this one. They're going to think you're gay, man. It's fine by me. But if you're willing to take the E. I'll take the E on it. He says he'll take it. He says he's going to take it. I'll take the E. You're going to take it?
I'll take it. Fingers going to get pointed that you're the gamer. That's right. All the fingers going to be pointed. We are a band. We are a band. The band is Queen. Oh. Take me home tonight. You sure you don't want to flip a freaking coin, man? I'm positive. I'm positive. Because I want King and I want to go on record. King's good, but it's not Queen. I'm good with King. Yeah, King's actually a man. King is kind of very masculine. I like King. It's fine, but it's not Queen. Listen, Freddie, it's hard to understand you. You got no shirt on. And your lipstick is... You got something in your throat, mate. Sorry, mate. All right, queen it is. Queen it is.
