Mikey returned after a violent household stomach bug and played the crew a recording of his loudly gurgling stomach. Sienna covered Anthony Weiner's leaked explicit photo, Delta charging returning soldiers for fourth bags, and an Indiana husband whose wife exposed an alleged murder plan by posing as a teenage girl on Facebook. The crew interviewed former Yankee Jim Leyritz about the fatal 2007 crash and his book Catching Heat, then argued over whether childbirth counts as a miracle and whether revenue-producing college athletes deserve stipends. Lighter bits dissected ideal hot-dog toppings and fair food, while a freezer call-in escalated from tennis balls and a dead betta fish to placentas, roadkill birds and frozen puppies used as snake food.
What happened, in order
The Gurgling Stomach Tape
After a violent stomach bug swept through Rebecca, Ryan, Jake, Nita and Mikey, he returned to work and played a startling recording of his own stomach gurgling in bed.
Weiner Photo Goes Public
Sienna explained that Andrew Breitbart showed Anthony Weiner's explicit photo to Opie and Anthony, who photographed the image on his phone and published it as calls for Weiner's resignation grew.
Delta Charges Returning Soldiers
The hosts discussed 34 soldiers returning from Afghanistan being charged $2,800 total by Delta for authorized fourth bags, then noted that the airline dropped the fees after their video caused a backlash.
Reality Show Contract Demands Drama
A caller said a female DJ classmate rejected an alleged reality-show contract that demanded three fights a month and a storyline in which one cast member slept with another's partner.
Jim Leyritz on Baseball and the Crash
Woods interviewed former Yankee and Padre Jim Leyritz about his pivotal 1996 World Series home run, the fatal 2007 collision that changed his life, and the safety message behind his memoir Catching Heat.
Sharktown Buffet
A seven-gill shark test-bit a La Jolla spearfisher's wetsuit near a carried bass, prompting Mikey, Sienna and Lauren O'Brien to argue over whether seals or risky diving made Children's Pool a 'Sharktown Buffet.'
The Perfect Hot Dog
Mikey, Sienna, Lauren O'Brien and Woods compared rigid hot-dog formulas involving mustard placement, onions, sauerkraut, jalapeños and dill relish while treating ketchup as the central offense.
Deep-Fried Fair Food
Sienna previewed Chicken Charlie's fried Kool-Aid, brownies, ribs and Thin Mints before the crew recoiled at chocolate corn dogs, fried beef jerky and bacon-heavy creations.
Is Childbirth a Miracle?
Mikey argued that childbirth is extraordinary but too common to be a miracle, while Rebecca, Sienna and callers said the body's creation and delivery of a breathing child is precisely what makes it miraculous.
Nightmare Freezer Call-In
A discussion of tuna cans and Sienna's hidden tennis balls escalated as callers revealed a dead betta fish, five-year-old placentas, roadkill birds and frozen puppies intended as snake food.
Facebook Murder Plot
Sienna told how an Indiana woman posing as a teenage girl on Facebook elicited messages from her husband about tracking her car and allegedly hiring someone to kill her for $10,000.
Should College Athletes Be Paid?
Mikey said scholarships and the privilege of playing were sufficient compensation, while Woods and callers argued that revenue-producing athletes who cannot take ordinary jobs deserve at least a stipend.

I'm ready. I'm back. Let's do this thing, man. 570-194-9 is our phone number if you would like to give us a call. And if you want to text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I'm 41. Just thinking about how aging gets you. When I was young, I could eat any hot food. I could eat any spicy thing. My mom would always say, Isn't that going to hurt your stomach? Of course it didn't hurt my stomach. I had the stomach of a 20-year-old now at 41. I eat the wrong ice cream, and I'm like in pain, you know? Whatever. Woods is our sports guy. He's 35 and big Yankee fan from Texas. Lauren O'Brien is our assistant producer and resident comedian. We call her L-O-B. Sienna is our news girl. She's 26.
And she has a voice that reminds me a lot of Lindsay Lohan's scratchy voice. I've always liked Santa's voice. Thanks. And then Jay is our producer. He's 47. Wait till I read you his recap. Just wait. And our phone screener is Chris. It's cross. That's cross. Word of the day? Napkin. I'll say napkins sometime between now and 10. And when you hear it, be calling 9 to win a pair of tickets to the Kings of Leon with the Band of Horses. September 4th, cricket. And tickets are on sale now. But we will be giving away a pair of tickets to the Kings of Leon with Band of Horses today. All you have to do is listen for me to work the word napkin into a sentence between now and 10. Listen carefully. It could come at any time, including during commercials. So just be listening.
So at my house, Ryan and my wife got sick, okay? And it was really, really violent illness. And then Jake got it next. And then I got it. And Nita, our Hungarian nanny, she got it. Had it all day yesterday on her birthday. Happy birthday. I know. Happy birthday. And yesterday at 4 o'clock, I said I was... I was freezing cold in a hot bath that would have boiled eggs. I mean, it was so hot because I was chilled. And I told Rebecca, just text Woods and tell him I'm not coming tomorrow and he can spread the word. And I knew I wasn't. I went to bed at 5. And when I woke up this morning at 4.30, I thought to myself, I feel good. Wow, that's a lot of sleep. It is. It is a lot of sleep. I think you get, you know, when you're sick, your body just needs that. Now, I was up throughout the night, you know, doing something else. At one point, at one point, I said, you guys will never believe this. I put a tape recorder. I put a tape recorder to my stomach. Just lay in there. Put a tape recorder to my stomach.
That's my stomach. That's not. I swear to you it is. That's your fish tank. Listen. Press my iPhone recorder against my stomach. Hang on. Wait. It's my stomach. I'm just laying in bed. You could hear it. You know how when somebody goes, wow, you must be hungry. Just press the phone up against my stomach. Just, here it comes. That's my stomach. That is the filthiest thing. I'm in shock. I was not ready for that. I know. Good morning. Good morning, everyone. Holy cow. Oh. Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh. But I feel good. I feel good. I should take some, probably some Tylenol or something. Sounds like a lake. I know. Yeah. Just fishing. Just like a hot tub. Bubbling. I thought it sounded like a, like, I thought it sounded like you'd taken a bath and unplugged the plug. Right. To let the bathtub drain.
What in the world? I know it. But hey, I feel good. You look good. I'm back. I feel like a million bucks. Probably lost like 10 pounds. Yeah, seriously. Didn't eat. Yesterday, I ate some little goldfish. That's it. Goldfish. Man, Mike. You beat me to it. You must have been sick. Now I know you weren't BSing, all right? Did you get an email from your trough saying, where are you? McDonald's stock went down yesterday. You bastard. The credit card company call for lack of activity. Yeah. They call you and say, is everything all right? McDonald's do that too? Wendy's dad call you. See you again, Will Card. Hurry back soon. We know. You must be sick, Mr. Esparza, because usually you come through to get your number six. And today we don't see you a couple times, so we think something must be wrong with you. We'll have it by the window when you're ready. Just come by. So that's a Hungarian McDonald's worker instead of a Mexican McDonald's worker. Yes. We have it ready for you. We're going to start this already? This is how we're going to go.
608. You do not call for your number six. They could be Hungarian. They could be from Russia. You never know. They're just trying to make it. They're over here just trying to make it in this country. Hey, listen. American dream. In my country, you could trade Big Mac for a pair of jeans. Absolutely. Thank you, Garrett. Garrett, our program director, filled in yesterday. No problem. Big news this morning. Wiener's wife. What's the deal with Wiener's wife? Well, there's a few big stories going on with Wiener. His wife is one of them. Big Wiener stories. Big Wiener stories, exactly. Is it a long story? Is it a long Wiener story? Oh, my goodness. Welcome back, Mike. Well, his wife of less than a year is apparently being reported pregnant with their first child after all of the scandal. Now she is pregnant, and just to make matters worse for her, she's carrying his child. Is she in a question? I don't know why Jay's playing that. He says she has big teeth. Is he making fun of this man's wife? Yeah. This mother-to-be. Who was just cheated on. And been dragged through the mud. Just humiliated. Yeah, Mike. Perhaps you never heard the term, kick somebody when they're down. Oh my gosh. Beat a dead horse. No pun intended. Pun intended. Pun intended.
Yes, she's at the early stages of her pregnancy. She hasn't confirmed it, but it's everywhere right now. Fox News, I mean, they're all talking about it. Also, calls have been increasing from fellow Democrats for the representative Anthony Weiner to resign, especially after yesterday because some explicit pictures. The photos from the Twitter? No. Or something else. It's worse now. Did he pose for Playgirl? No, there are pictures of his genitals. What? Now, in the mix, a conservative blogger, Andrew Breitbart, he was able to get these pictures from the woman who... Wiener sent these to. Wiener sent some Wiener shots to a woman. The woman gave them to this conservative blogger, Andrew Breitbart. He had them on his phone and showed a radio show, Opie and Anthony. And they talked about it, posted pictures, saw these pictures, and now the scandal is just even worse because now Wiener's Wiener is out there.
My gosh. I know. My gosh. I know. Now, this blogger, Andrew Breitbart, said that he wasn't going to post these pictures, said he wouldn't make them public if Wiener admitted to the sexting. However, the radio hosts... He did, though. Yeah. The hosts, you know, Opie and Anthony. Opie and Anthony were like... Well, we don't care. That's not our deal. And how did they get him again? Andrew Breitbart was being interviewed by Opie and Anthony, and they were talking about the Wiener thing and said, oh, you know, I have this picture. And they took a picture of the picture. They took a picture of the picture, yeah, and posted that picture. Wow. Oh, wow. Yeah. I guess they were weighing, well, do we ruin our relationship with this guy? Yeah. Andrew Breitbart. Andrew Breitbart. Or do we, you know. gain a lot of notoriety for doing this. Yeah. I think they made the wise choice. They did. You know, lame, but wise. Yeah, pretty great. As with the well-known Andrew Breitbart. Right. Very upset by that. Never be back on the show again. He's, I doubt he cares, you know. He's obviously showing it off. Yeah. This girl sent it to him. Opie and Anthony were my last agent's clients. And that's why it was always hard to get. Everybody's sick and fiddle.
How about ninth? Ninth fiddle. He also represented man cow. Oh, wow. That's me, Michael Sparza. This is how it would go. Hi, is Bob in, please? Yes, man. Ask who's calling. It's Mikey. Marky, where are you from? I'm from San Diego. I'm one of Bob's clients. Sure, hold on just a second. I'm so sorry, Marky. Bob is on another call. Can I have him call you back? Sure. Can you tell him I'm dying? Just tell him I'm on the side of the road and need only his help. Not a problem, Marky, but you did try that last time and remember he didn't call you back then either. What a beating. And then I talked to him. Hey, what are you up to? I just got back from New York. Oh, did you? What are you doing out there?
Well, I was visiting Opie and Anthony. As a matter of fact, yes. I was out visiting Opie and Anthony. How are they doing? They're doing good, Mark. Why? Mike. Never mind. He's a great agent, though. He really is. So the photos are out. Is it just one photo or is it more? One picture of the genitals of Wiener. That's all it takes. Yeah. Even if I had something to be photographed, I don't think I would. I'd be scared, man. It's really risky. You think he'll deny that those are his, though? Not now, right? He's going to have to step down. He's going to have to. Of course. He's going to have to. They're calling for his head. Yeah.
No, serious. I wasn't trying to be gross. I didn't think you were until you said you weren't trying to be gross. I really wasn't. Which means he is. No, I promise I wasn't. Which is definitely an indication that you were. No, I promise that I wasn't. I promise. You think Brett Favre called him for some tips on how to do it? Absolutely. Well, see, that doesn't make sense because, you know, he doesn't know how to do it good. Favre went first. Favre went first. Favre went first. More like they had a conversation maybe that went wrong. Yeah, maybe they would talk on the phone about how not, you know. Oh, there you go. How not to do it. Y'all shut up. Related. Related. Maybe they'd just talk, Mac. You think they're BFF, Mac? Wiener and Favreau? Oh, then the other big thing is that Terrell Pryor, now former? Former. Former quarterback. Former Ohio State Buckeye, Terrell Pryor, has left Ohio State. I told you that yesterday. These are his options now. Not play football, which he's not going to do. Guy's six foot six. He's an athlete. Go to the supplemental draft. Go to the supplemental draft in the NFL, which may or may not take place, depending on how the season goes. Or the wonderful CFL, the Canadian Football League. The Saskatchewan Rough Riders have acquired the rights to negotiate with him. So he was in Columbus, one of the most highly recruited players.
coming out of high school, one of the best college quarterbacks out there, have fun in Saskatchewan, dude. Because you think that no other schools would take him? Oh, he has eligibility, but he has to sit out five games. He doesn't want to go to college. He's not trying to finish college. He wants to go to the pros in the supplemental draft, or he wants to play football somewhere. But they're saying in the NFL, he's a receiver. He's a slot guy, a tight end maybe. He ain't a quarterback. Oh, wow. They're saying had he... gone through next year and not gone you know gone in the regular draft he would have been a fifth round pick anyway as a quarterback got it but he's an athlete so he'll end up somewhere playing but looks like the cfl will be his new home if anybody's listening i'd love to talk to you 570-1949 or you can text 949mikey at gmail.com uh let's see Did you know that yesterday was the last day Meredith Vieira was going to be on the Today Show? And today will be the first day that Ann Curry will take over. But this is Meredith saying goodbye. And I talked yesterday at our party about this bracelet that my husband Richard gave us. That Gabe made the day before I started this job five years ago. And it's a little charm because I was so scared. It says, we are with you. Love, Richard, Ben, Gabe, and Lily. And that's the reason that I'm leaving.
But you know what? This was about the Today Show. So I'm taking this off after the show and I'm going to pawn it. No, I'm not going to pawn it. I'm going to put it in a safe place. And all of you, I'm putting in my heart. So I'll never, ever lose you. I love you all very much. That's wonderful, Meredith. I've called the car. It's waiting. Did you get your stuff out of the office yet? I brought you, you know what I brought you, Meredith, today? What? There's a box. Oh, that's nice. What's in it? Nothing. It's empty. What you'll do is you'll go to your office and then like all your stuff that you have, like all this stuff, you just put in that box. And then when you leave, you can take it or your old assistant can take it to your car. Oh, goodness. Hey, Meredith, can you do me a favor? Sure. Can you get out of that seat? Because your butt's starting to make a little bit of a groove and they rolled that in a day early and that's my seat. Hey, Meredith, can I get your key card? Because I've already... Meredith, I know this is probably not the most appropriate time to say this, but... I just don't want to get defoad. Do you see how it says A period curry? Right. Notice the paint is a little fresh. This is weird. I know this is weird. This is so strange. This is so weird. This is so weird. I'm so sorry. All right, am I? All right.
Can you just move your coffee? Meredith, you left your coffee mug. And I don't want to be gross, but I have got, you know, just a germ thing. You could just pick that up instead of me. Meredith, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, okay? Try not to. Well, we've heard that it was Meredith's decision, but... It sure seems like nobody's really buying that. Delta Airlines, you hear about this scandal. Oh, my gosh. OK, so some U.S. Army soldiers returning from Afghanistan earlier this week. They are on a Delta flight. And according to military travel orders, each of them are allowed to carry up to four bags on the plane. Well, not according to Delta standards, because they're only allowed to carry three. And so all of these 34 member unit, they had to pay a total of twenty eight hundred dollars for all of their extra bags. They each had a fourth bag. Two hundred dollars. They need four bags.
peace for. They're coming back from Afghanistan, Jay. They're going to Paris? They're going to be on some runway or something? No, but they were just serving our country. I understand that, but who needs four bags? All you need is a pair of underwear, a toothbrush, and that's it. Roll a duct tape. Roll a duct tape. Are they Liberace? Yeah. What the hell? So each of them was charged $200 for their extra bag, and these two guys got on the plane on Delta and made a video complaining. So you're saying that our military travel orders authorized us to carry four bags, correct? Yes, that's correct. What happened to the soldiers that actually had four bags? We had actually had to pay out of pocket our own money to allow that fourth bag to be taken. How much did you pay? $200. All right, so how much did our unit end up paying out of pocket? Over $2,800. Here at Delta Airlines, we know how to say thank you to our soldiers. In fact, we're helping them feel like civilians again by charging them $200 each for that.
It's our way of saying, welcome home. Next time, try packing a little lighter. Personally, we think a swimsuit and a pair of sandals is enough to take with you when you travel. And you can always wait until you arrive at your destination to buy things like bullets and grenades at the airport gift shop. Delta, we're helping our soldiers travel lightly. One dollar bill at a time. Not really the nicest welcome home greeting to these guys. And soon after, the airline said that now their fourth bag, the fee is dropped. Oh, really? Yeah, they're dropping it. At first, they didn't change the policy. They just apologized. But now that scrutiny has become to a point where they can't handle it PR-wise? Yeah. Okay, fine. Well, the video was posted and hundreds of thousands of people saw it and were disgraced. And so Delta had to change their policy because no one would have flown Delta. Oh, my. Let's see. M1 Apple Freak from Mission Valley. What's going on, guys? What's up? Pretty crazy story. One of my classmates at Mesa College, she's a female DJ in San Diego. And she was talking to us at the very beginning of the semester about how her and three of her friends were, like, picked to join some reality TV show for, like, female DJs across the country. And she was, like, really excited about it. But once she read the contract, there's some things inside of it that were, like,
Pretty mind-blowing. Like, one of the things said that they had to get in at least three fights a month. Oh, wow. To, like, be part of it. Wow. And the craziest part, this is going to be mind-blowing. It said that one of the girls had to sleep with one of the other girls, either husband or boyfriend. You put that in a contract? Well, they had, or, wait a minute, I wonder if it was that they had to say that. Right. Or that might have been it. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, you can't force them to sleep with him, but I guess you could say, well, you've got to say this in order to be on the show. What show was it? I don't know the exact name of it. I didn't ask her that, but it was just about female DJs in California. All right. Well, we'll keep an eye out for a female DJ in California show. Thank you, Apple Freak. Appreciate it. M1, screenwriter from North County. Hey, guys. I just picked up my Jeff Bridges tickets for the conference. Are you going to see him in Phoenix? Yeah. I was wondering if on your way to your brother's house, if we were going to carpool or not. Oh, okay. There may have been a bit of a miscommunication on that one, which I totally understand. I totally get that. Really?
I know my brother will let you guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me work for this. No, I got you. Let me clarify that one for you, screenwriter. I know I said that. I thought, well, hang on now. I thought I'd clarified that I reserved that for the members of the show here. Now, maybe you get my room. M1s. Oh, no. Yeah, it's perfect. Our members. We're family. You said it. I did. I have said that M1's our family, you know. And what attorney. Yes, that is true. That is true. Also, I'm not going, so it's definitely another room. Sienna's not going. Neither is my significant other. Who's not going? What's that? Who's not going? Well, I guess everybody except me and Woods. Plenty of room. Plenty of room. Oh. I guess we'll see there. Well, thank you, screenwriter. We love you. We love you. And, you know, let's talk about it off the air. You know, we'll discuss. We have a bad connection right now. Yeah, we can barely hear you. Turn your radio down. Turn your radio down. Oops, we lost the call. Dang it. Jeff Bridges is performing in Phoenix. July 3rd, right? Mm-hmm.
Yeah, he's doing all of his stuff from Crazy Heart plus some of his new material because he's decided he's going to become a country singer. Well, he's doing, you know, the record he's doing, he's doing with the guy T-Bone Burnett that helped him do all the songs for Crazy Heart. So it's going to be right in that vein. It's going to be awesome. How great is that? I can't wait. How great is that? It's going to be rad. It's going to be nice and cool in Phoenix, too, July 3rd. Oh, no. I'm sure we won't be sweating like pigs. Sounds awful. If it were in L.A., I'd go. Phoenix, just a little too far. Yeah. Let's see. We have so much. Oh, Steve Jobs has decided that he is going to build a new Apple headquarters in Cupertino. Brand new Apple headquarters. Yeah, and he unveiled his plan. This thing looks like a gigantic spaceship. It's going to be circular, four stories high with a large inner courtyard in the middle of it. It's going to hold 12,000 workers. And Steve Jobs said that there is not a single straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. Right. It's all curved. It looks insane. And they're going to start construction beginning next year. And the opening is planned for 2015. So 80% of this, first of all.
It's a building that is completely round. Picture the Pentagon. Picture the Pentagon. And you know how on the inside of the Pentagon there's all this same bit. It'll be like Central Park in the middle of this circle. 80% of it is going to be landscaping. So there's no straight glass in there whatsoever. None. I will be there ASAP. As soon as I can get there, I'm going. I like it. All the parking will be underground. 80% of it shrubs, including apricot orchards. So that employees can go out and just bask during their lunch break in the apricot orchards. Pick apricots. They were apple trees. It's just too predictable, again, to be at the apple. Well, maybe apple trees don't grow very well in that area. There's going to be more than 6,000 trees. Who the hell eats apricots? I do. Filthy. Filthy. You're filthy. They're also going to be building their own energy generation facility using natural gas. Crazy. Wow. What? You may have to pay for something again that you have been having for free. It's going to affect a lot of people, and it's probably going to upset a few people. We'll tell you what it is. Don't go anywhere. Mikey. Seriously, dude.

This report is brought to you by McDonald's. 42-ounce soft drinks. They're only 79 cents at McDonald's. For a limited time, choose from a variety of icy cold soft drinks. And now many McDonald's are open 24 hours. Participation does vary. I'm Stacey Cohen, FM 94.9. And now back to the Mikey Show with Mikey. I wouldn't like it. I'm not very attractive. Lauren. When I was in college, that was like my M.O. I would get drunk and steal random stuff. Woods. Oh, I want filth. I want straight filth as filthy as it can get. Sienna. Mine are always crying. I'm a crier. And Jay. I have a pond. I built a pond in my yard. On FM 94.9. You're going to have to pay for it again that you've been getting for free, we'll tell you. And word of the day is napkin. When I say it, caller 9 gets Kings of Leon tickets at cricket. Band of horses playing with them. Out. What about?
Fabulous idea. So what is the city considering charging for again, Sienna? Beach parking. Yep. Wow. Yes. This isn't the first time this has come up, but the Independent Budget Analysis, they released a list of spending cuts, and that was the first item on the list to charge for parking at our beaches, bays, and regional parks. You already do. I already do. Only the national parks. Only some of them. Or state parks. I pay it. There's a parking fee there to park along the beach. You pay at Del Mar. Because it's a state park, yeah. Del Mar all the way along the street. Yeah, like Tamarack is a state park, so you have to pay, you know, because it's considered a state park. But a lot of them are not. Yeah, no, like La Jolla Shores, there's a huge parking lot, and you don't pay for that. Moonlight. Yeah, you don't pay for Moonlight. They want to start charging. You have to pay for all of them. Perfect. They said that they could raise more than a million dollars annually. For something we get for free. HPD. You know. a million dollars you know where we where we are it's just so weird it's like why don't we look at things that are costing a ton of dough before we start going to the little chipping away things and i'm not saying that because you know i'm like oh i'm a surfer i need my
Free beach. Right. I never go to the beach. Well, the families, they can't, you know, can't really afford it. And they're looking for some free entertainment. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we already pay enough in taxes. That's one of the coolest things about surfing. Once you buy your board, you're good to go, man. You go, you can go any, it's not like golf where you got to pay a hundred bucks every time you step on the course. Right. Just go and serve. From Jay's recap. Oh, here we go. As you know, Jay, our producer is 47 years old, but you'd never know it. He's got the body of a 27-year-old. Oh, gosh. He's pretty athletic. It's in my trunk right now. He lets you know. He doesn't mind bragging about how awesome he can be. And he wrote in his recap. He put, I'm going to start building Jasper a skate halfpipe this weekend. Oh. We've been talking about it for about a year. And Kim's in on it. She just wishes that it was going to be smaller. Because. I'm looking at a six-foot transition. Oh, my gosh. Eight foot of flat, all right? 12 feet wide, 24 feet long. It's going to be epic. Epic. It's going to be. If you took every father in San Diego County, this is the only one that would have this particular recap today. You know, I mean.
And he can. I mean, he really can build that. Mike, I'll have it done by Sunday. Yeah, I mean, probably Saturday night. Saturday evening. Just in time to barbecue. Yeah, Jasper. Jasper be rolling on that thing before sundown. Sunday, I got to leave room for lovemaking. That's right. I got to hike. I got to photo shoot. I got to photo shoot. DNA. I got to give my DNA again. So. Woods said this and made me laugh. And my wife called Woods a monster. Yep. It made me laugh. Even his wife, though, had to laugh. Woods was being a bit of a baby a couple nights ago. Weird. He was hungry, okay? Now, his wife works and gets home what time, Woods? She gets home between... 545 and 630. So she works long, long hours. Now, you fellas that are listening, you just got to ask yourself if you have gone through this, if you go through this, if you feel this way. But there was nothing to eat. You know, Woods is doing the deal where he's walking up to the refrigerator, looking, closing it, walking back five minutes, seeing if anything's there again. Pantry bit. Slamming pantry doors. Being a big baby, a big D. And his wife is watching all this happen, right? So finally, she says to him.
What do you want for dinner? And Woods says to her, how about a balanced meal? Well balanced. A well balanced meal. How about a well balanced meal? Donuts and Dr. Pepper. So well balanced. See, that's what he provides for himself because he's just a scavenger. He's just a man out there. He's just a man taking care of himself. He doesn't have a maternal lover. Who can provide for him. Even that made her laugh. Yeah. It got her. What do you want? What do you want? Hard tea. She hard teed me, first of all. What do you want? What do you want? How about a well-balanced meal? Oh, dude. It was so brilliant. And so biting.
It says so much. It's one of those deals like where you go to another country and you say to an interpreter, I'll take a glass of tea. And they go, And you go, all of that for I want a glass of tea? Or you say, tell them that I'm very happy to be here. Really stoked. I can't wait to start to meet everyone. And that basically, I probably will never want to leave. And the person goes, It communicates that in two words. Yeah. When Wood says, how about a well-balanced meal? So much is communicated. It sums it up. It just. Yeah. It got her. It says so many things. It got her real good. And so she went out to the store and came home and cooked grilled chicken with penne pasta and vodka sauce. Sienna's mouth is dropped open and L.O.B. is looking at me like, you've got to be freaking kidding. Guys, why? Now, there's got to be some women in our audience, I'm sure, right now that are irritated about this. Guys do their thing, you know, and we, you know.
It's like women want their man to be the protector. Provider. When there's spiders, when there's noises, when there's bumps in the night. Bills to pay. Bills to pay. They want the guy to do his garbage to be taken out. Women usually take care of the bills. No, not in my house. Usually they do. I write every check, pal. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all play our role, and Woods was looking to Jamie to provide that role. I guilted her into it, and she did. What time did you get off work that day? What was it, Tuesday? 10.05? You didn't think about maybe going to the store, checking the cabinets before that? No, I didn't. LOP, don't you think a man wants to be taken care of? We have a very unique situation. I have a broken ankle. He has to eat dinner by a certain time. You have a broken ankle. I shouldn't be walking around the grocery store. I got to stay off my feet. You should get the broken ankle. How about this? How about, I want to be taken care of. Well, that's what a mother is for. No, when you get married, you want the maternal. You want that woman. Not everybody wants that.
All rules are out when the woman works. Yes. Goodbye. Oh, wow. You can't have your cake and eat it, too. Yesterday, Wood said if a woman doesn't work, get... Guess who's on the line? Jim Lairitz is on the line. Now, this is a big deal because... Jim, are you there? Yes, how are you doing today? Good, good. Now, Jim, I am going to basically relinquish the reins to my sports guy. Woodsy because not only is Woodsy a sports guy, a baseball guy, he's also a major Yankee guy. And lives, breathes, and eats the Yankees. Now, Woodsy, tell everybody, for those that don't know, about Jim Lairitz and who Jim Lairitz is. Yeah, it's my pleasure. Jim, how are you? Good. I'm good, man. Jim Lairitz is... in my opinion, responsible for starting the Yankee dynasty of the 90s. They were down 2-1 in the series in 96 against Atlanta. And I watched a couple clips of Jim last night, and they were all talking. All the Yankees were like, well, at least we didn't get swept. They were down 6-0 in game four. Okay? They clawed back 6-3. Lairitz comes up. Did you come off the bench? Yeah, and actually, I had just gone in the bottom half that didn't even catch because they pinched it for Girardi. Right. So Lairitz comes up. There's two guys they worked their way on.
Jim Lairitz comes up and hits a game-tying home run off Mark Wollers, who threw about 100 miles an hour. He threw 100 miles an hour. Decides that he's going to throw sliders to Jim Lairitz. Hangs one up around his letters, and Lairitz pounds it out for a three-run homer. Game tied. Yanks go on to win. They go on to win the series. Then they won four World Series in the next five years. and then I was at Game 4 in 99 when you hit the homer against the Braves. Oh, yeah, that was my only at-bat during that series, yep. Yeah, and you were also a San Diego Padre, correct? Yeah, actually I was on the other end of the losing end of a World Series in 98 against the Yankees. Exactly, in 98 he played for the Padres. So, Jim, your story is well-documented as far as what went on after. um after you left the game you left the game to to basically raise your your kids is that right yeah in 2003 i had a chance to go back and play and instead of going back into play my i was going through a divorce and my ex-wife couldn't take care of the kids and i decided to give up the game and go home and become a full-time father right and then in 2007 on your birthday was uh an event happened an accident happened that that changed your life forever uh just briefly kind of tell us what what went down
Well, it was the night that was my birthday, and I had been out with a few friends having a few drinks, and on the way home, I went through an intersection where someone had run a red light, and I hit the back end, and unfortunately, the accident, she wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and she was ejected from the car, and the ejection ended up costing her her life. Oh, right. A very difficult situation, and it was just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but at the same time, you know, understanding that, you know, anytime you're involved in something where someone passes away, even if you're not at fault, it's just something that lives with you forever. And, you know, that night, two little boys, two children lost a mother. And my three boys went through three years of not knowing one day to the next whether or not they wake up with a father or not. And it's a very difficult, tragic situation for everyone involved. And, of course, just, you know, waiting for those three years
the results that we got and just try to, you know, understand it all and try to put it in perspective of how God wants us to learn lessons through some of our most difficult times and getting back on the right path. And, you know, this accident has made me a better person. Now, we're talking to Jim Lairitz, who was a padre. He was also an all-star New York Yankee. And let me ask you, Jim, because I'm trying to just to clarify in my head, you had been drinking. but it wasn't your fault. This person ran a red light, and you happened to hit them because they ran the red light? Yeah, exactly. It was a situation with a blind intersection, and she came out of nowhere. And it was just, you know, there was no time to react to nothing. As a matter of fact, I didn't even see her actually coming by. She was traveling at about 45, 50 miles an hour towards a red light. And just a very tragic situation. And like I said, it was just the results of it just were, you know, just... Like I said, it was a situation that because I had a few drinks that night and I had the smell of alcohol on my breath, they couldn't determine who was at fault, and they put it on me. And it was a situation that, like I said, I had to wait three years to be able to get in front of a jury and put all the facts and evidence out there. Yeah, and you were, Jim was, exonerated of the vehicular manslaughter?
And you have written a book. It's called Catching Heat. And that book is out now? Well, yeah, it just came out June 7th. Okay. Yeah, it is out now. And like I said, it was a book that I began to write about a father and son and giving up the game and coming home and taking care of my kids and about my father giving up a lot of sacrifices for his children. And it was just being ready to be published. We were just writing it. And the accident happened, and that was put on hold. During these two or three years that we went through, I had spoke at my church with a lot of people, and I was still talking to people about my story. And I was approached by a woman one day for HCI Books and said, listen, you have what you've been through even these last three years in your career before that she had read the other part of the book that I had begun to write. And she said, I think you have a story here that you could tell and really affect a lot of people's lives and maybe make people make.
some different decisions and whether it be professionally or personally, some of the things that I went through could help people. And of course the accident, you know, hoping that people learn that you, first of all, you never, you never drink and drive. You never text message while you're driving and that you do buckle up and you put a seatbelt on and just how important those things is. And if people can read this book and somehow one night make a decision or not make that decision to get behind the wheel of a car or to buckle up or, you know, like I said before, if, if, Any kids are out there and they read this book and they're at a party one night and they go to get in a car with their friend and they realize, wait a minute, you know what? I remember the story about this guy and how it changed his life. I'm not doing that. This book has been written for it. It actually serves its purpose. There you go. The book is called Catching Heat, the Jim Leyritz story. And Jim, we appreciate you coming on the air with us and you can get the book now. And we really do appreciate it. It sounds like a very compelling memoir.
No, Mike, I appreciate it. As a matter of fact, I've actually moved out to your coast. I just moved to California, and I'm hoping to be out there and working with some of the teams out there. Hey, listen, if you ever get to San Diego, we'd love to have you stop by the studio. I will definitely be down there. I'm actually hoping to hook up with the Padres when I come out there, so we'll see what happens. That'd be great. That'd be great. And, yeah, it'd be great. We appreciate it, and thank you, Jim. We love having you on. We'd love to have you in the studio. Talking to you. Good luck, Jim. We'll see you later. Yeah, you know, now when that first came down, when the deal first came down, I like baseball, but I like it peripherally. So I don't know a lot about it. And so when that interview came down and Jay presented it to me and I read that he was kind of a huge star, not only for the Yankees, but was a Padre player. First thing I did was go, what do you think, Woods? And Woods was like, dude.
Laywitz is the man. Well, it's his story. You know, it's the story. And I was real conflicted, man, because I didn't know if you were going to be here today and I was going to talk to him. And I, you know, you watch a lot of stuff and it's weird how your perception of somebody changes when something like that happens. And I was nervous because, you know, at the end of the day, you know, he's still alive and somebody else isn't. And when it first happened, I was like, oh, he screwed up. I mean, he screwed up bad. And then more stuff comes out, more stuff comes out, and the person has still lost their life. And, yeah, he was exonerated, but it's still hard. It's still hard to talk about and look at that story. Well, we didn't say it while we were on the air, but the girl that he hit, she had been drinking as well. She was way over. She was at a .18. And they may have said that during this interview. Part of it, they were trying to wrap us up because they had to move on. So that may have been said, and I missed it. No. They gave him the wrong kit, too, the blood. The wrong blood alcohol kit. They used like a one for somebody lighter weight than him. Yeah. Apparently. So he wasn't even as drunk as they said. Yeah. The jury concluded that he was like at a point oh five. The legal limit is a point oh eight. So legally he didn't do anything wrong.
It was 3 o'clock in the morning, and it was an accident, and it was really hard, man, because I grew up watching that guy. Guy won some big games for us, won some big games for the pods, too. Man, what a bat. Just a crazy, crazy, just incredible, incredible bat. Yeah. We loaded the audio this morning, and I'm not a baseball fan, but I watched the audio with Woods. Not beyond leverage. to try to pop one over the right field boards. I've never faced Mark Wahlers before. I remember looking down at Don Zimmer and Rick Downs, our hitting coach, and going, hey, what's this guy got? And they both looked at me, and they went, he throws 100 miles an hour. Big swing. Power for strike one. One of those situations, you're going up against a guy who throws as hard as he does. All you want to do is put a good swing on it. You don't necessarily have to be real quick. It's just good timing. 86 mile an hour slider. I think Walters is going to the breaking ball too much. If you get beat, you want to get beat on your best pitch. I hit it good enough to get out. And the only thing I worried about is I was kind of surprised how far up on the wall Andrew Jones got. And that was the only thing that kind of scared me. They are. Yeah, we were. I bet. Got to tell you about a shark bike victim that is very lucky. Very lucky today. And this is a trip.
And I purposefully have not let Sienna explain it to me yet. I want Sienna to explain when we come back. At Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista, F's and D's were erased. And I want details. If I told you my grandma used to give me mother's cookies, I'd be lying. She didn't exactly give them to me. She was far craftier than that, which is why I loved her. She had this whole method. She'd plant some circus animal cookies on her dresser, and then she'd send me on a decoy mission to go get something for my quote-unquote forgetful old grandmother. Then, to distract Mom, she'd create a diversion. To buy me some time, she'd really milk it, too, so I could pop the cookies in my mouth and quietly let the pink frosting dissolve on my tongue. It was all kind of genius, or at least I thought it was, until my mom became a grandma herself. A crafty grandma. That's when I realized that mom was in on it all along. Now, so am I. What's going on at Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista? F's and D's erased, we'll tell you. Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, Citigroup says they discovered a security breach in which a hacker accessed personal information from... 200,000 at least different accounts. There was, you know...
Name, account number, contact information, like email addresses, all viewed. But it was about only 1% of their customers. Sounds like a lot, though, over 200,000. Also, you guys may want to know, yesterday was Representative Gabrielle Gifford's birthday. She turned 41. Good thing her husband made it back. Five months to the day after she was shot in Tucson. And, you know, doing well. She celebrated, you know, most of her birthday, continuing her rehabilitation. Improving. Doing great. That's good. I say that's good. What's going on in sports? Sports is brought to us today by our friends at Frank's Red Hot. Frank's Red Hot. Padres lost last night. Heath Bell shouldered the blame for the loss. He came into a tie game. It was 3-3. Gave up a couple of hits. And Padres lost 5-3. Now, they also lost their starting pitcher, Tim Stauffer. This was a really weird injury. I've got some audio. I want you guys to listen closely. You can hear him scream as he gets hurt swinging the bat. Pretty big. The one in the first inning and the caught stealing in the third. Took men off base. Pop-up into shallow center. Tulewitzki going out, taking charge and making the catch in front of Carlos Gonzalez. What happened to Mosley? He's on the ground out there for heaven's sakes. And you know what that looks like, unfortunately? A shoulder. I don't know how it happened. And as soon as he swung, he grabbed his left shoulder. He's done.
I love Jerry. He's so sensitive. He's much like our friend Jay in there. He's done. Well, listen, Jerry is from a different time. This guy was, you know, and flew in World War II. And in his day, if a guy hurts his shoulder, he does not lay down on the ground. Right. What's the matter with him laying down like that? He's done. Is he taking a nap? My shoulder. He's on the ground for heaven. All he did was swing a bat. But you can hear Stauffer screaming after he's done something to his shoulder on the swing. Also, Chargers linebacker Antoine Applewhite is pleading not guilty next week to drunken driving. Was arrested in PB at about 2.25 a.m. And his attorney has said, we're going to plead not guilty. Take a look at what kind of evidence there is. And the officer was very impressed with how cooperative Antoine was. So he is going to plead not guilty. We'll see how that goes. I'm Mikey. That's Woods. That's Lauren O'Brien, otherwise known as L-O-B. That's Sienna. That's Jay, our producer. And our phone screener is Chris. It's Krause! Yeah, it's Krause. The word of the day is napkin. When I say that, that'll be good for a pair of tickets to see Kings of Leon. So caller 9, when you hear me weave the word napkin into a sentence sometime between now and 10. You go into the water. Sharks in the water. What happened, Sienna? This story has me very upset. Oh, yeah. 28-year-old man.
Doing some free diving with a couple buddies over by Children's Pool in La Jolla. Wonder why there were sharks there. I wonder. Really? Because it's their natural habitat? Oh, because they just opened the buffet, maybe? There's reef there. There's reef there. Plenty of food. Just let me finish. And then maybe you guys will be on my side with getting those seals. Out of there! This guy. Man, he's diving, you know, having a good time spearfishing. All of him and his buddies. When all of a sudden, they spot an eight-foot seven-gill shark. A seven-gill. See it in the water? They think, oh, man, there's a shark. Let's stick together. Stay close. But, you know, they did have a fish with them. They had caught a bass earlier. So dead fish hanging in the water with them. That's also going to attract the shark. Shark comes up, takes a bite. Oh, my gosh. Out of the guy's calf. Oh, my gosh. But what he says was it was like a test bite are the words he used. Yeah. Because he had his wetsuit on and it's like the shark didn't bite down very hard. He wanted to know what it was. Wanted to know what it was. Thought it was a seal. Bit down three small bites. Right. Let it go. Right. Let the guy go. Well, the deal is, Sienna, that sharks like Sharktown Buffet. Yes. Okay. It's Sharktown Buffet. Exactly. And.
There are other areas all up and down the coast that are not Shark Town Buffet. But a place that you build that basically is a Motel 6 for seals is also Shark Town Buffet. Maybe you shouldn't wear a bass hanging around your neck either when you go free diving. Maybe you can wear a bass around your neck in other areas. Maybe wear a chump suit when you go next time. You mean a chump suit? That's what I said. I thought you said chump. No, I said chump suit. All right. Kathy, call out. I am sorry. I apologize. I thought you said chump. Wear a chump suit. Well, clearly, the shark thought it was a seal, tested to see it was a seal, realized it wasn't a seal, let the guy go. But they said that the shark went away, disappeared after the three test fights, and then came back and started charging at the other guy. Started charging at one of the other guys in the group, and they shot him with a spear gun, shot the shark, and the shark swam away. So sad. He's just trying to eat because there's seals just lined up everywhere for him. And bass. No. A reef full of fish. And bass. Yeah, the guy didn't, no injury to his skin at all. Just...
A couple holes in his wetsuit. You carry a bass behind you, you're going to get attacked by it. Not at Tamarack. You're probably not. I bet you will. No. Guy's got a bass tucked in his belt. People do it all the time, but you go into a place where it's full of a bunch of food. Well, don't you assume that risk when you see a Motel 6 for seals and you get in the water still? L.O.B. has a point. Like, if it were me, I wouldn't be spearfishing around Sharktown Buffet. Right. But before it became Sharktown Buffet, it was a great spot to be, you know, doing all that stuff. You always want to get your fish out of the water. You don't want to drag it around. Yeah. No matter where you are. It's true. He had it attached on a belt. He's got a bass belt. A bass belt. Yeah, bass belt. Bass belt. Lifeguards said, you know, there are more sharks than normal, though, because of these seals. I would never surf in La Jolla, ever. Never even close. I'm all for the seals. I wouldn't dive in La Jolla. I wouldn't be in the water there. I used to swim at children's pool when I was little. PB&J on the beach had a good time. Now, I can't do that. You know why? Because there's a bunch of seals with their seal caca everywhere. We should go down there and reason with them. No, we should go down there and get rid of them. How do you get rid of them? How do you get rid of them, Sienna? They're the rats of the sea. How do you get rid of them? Oh, wow.
They are the rats of the sea. They're the dogs of the sea. They're not. They're obnoxious. They're angels. How do you get rid of them? No. I don't want to kill any seals. I'm not like that, but I'm just for the humans. Why do you have a shirt on that says, I hate freaking seals? Because I got it at children's school. I have a purse made out of seal skin. Why do you have a seal skin hat and necklace and earrings on? You get rid of them by letting the humans back in the water and they slowly will go away. Remove the rope. There you go. Get rid of the rope. Let's do it. Let's see. Let's do it. Oh, I'll make them leave. Yeah, they'll leave. They're scared of us if we're out there. What happened, Sienna, at Sweetwater High School in Chula Vista? It wasn't Sweetwater High School. It was actually the Castle Park High School, which is in the Sweetwater School District. Oh, got it, got it. Yeah, and the school district is reviewing transcripts right now of more than 115 students that went to this high school. There's a watchdog program that presented these officials with documentation that the grades were improperly adjusted by school officials. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, this is pretty crazy. At least 37 students who failed a class at this school then got a passing grade in a makeup class. So they failed.
They take a makeup class. Then they pass. Now, what school officials are supposed to do is they're supposed to mark the before and the after grade. So, you know, they got an F. Now they have a C. Instead, what they did was they never marked the F. They only put the C. You know why? Because it improves the school's graduation rate. Well, here's what I don't get. I don't get why that isn't fair anyway. In other words, if you get a ticket and you go to class. That exonerates you. That makes up. You know what I mean? Yeah. So why should it still be reflected on your record? I thought that that was the point of doing makeup stuff. I mean, I'm not sure about this because I'm not a school official, but I think it's just that it's there for people to see. If you improve your grade by taking a makeup class, it's going to make your GPA better, but the records always have to be there. I just got it. You know what I mean? In other words, it's designed to help the student, no doubt, and does. However, the state of California still needs to see what you're up to as a school. Are you failing kids and then have to put them through this thing to try to get them better? Because a lot of schools don't.
A lot of schools don't have the F's to begin with that they got to put through to the next level to try to make it. Also, some students at Castle Park High School, 78 of them got D's, did the makeup class, got a better grade. They did the same thing. They never marked the D. They just put the better grade. Now, there are different forms to be used. And the principal said accountability is a number one priority for me. In this case, I am accountable for the mistake that I made. He said that he used the wrong form. Nah, the old wrong form bit. Right. So, yeah, they're in a lot of trouble right now. It's a big story. Hear about the guy in Louisiana that threw a remote control. An eight-year-old boy. It was an eight-year-old kid. Was it his kid? No. No? It was not his kid. No. This happened over the weekend. And this man, they don't know what the relationship was with the kid. I'm sure it was the mom's boyfriend or something. He was Ronald Adams, 49 years old. They were watching TV, he and the 8-year-old. And the 8-year-old, of course, wanted to watch cartoons. He wanted to watch wrestling. And they got in an argument. He ended up throwing the remote at the 8-year-old boy, hit him in the face, gave him a black eye. And the little boy said to the police, you know.
The police were called. He was arrested for cruelty to a juvenile. Told the police what happened, said that the guy threw the remote at his face. Now, this guy, Ronald Adams, 49 years old, said he got that black guy from jumping off the pool ladder. Now, the deputy looked, and there was, like, not even any water in the pool. So, like, I mean, why would he? And so, anyway, he's being held in jail right now. I'm surprised that he didn't try to tell the cops the reason. for the fight in order to exonerate himself. Aye. The whole reason I got mad is because he wanted to watch cartoons. I was trying to watch WWE. Baby, you know I don't want to watch cartoons. Hey, baby, he wants to watch that Rocky and Bullwinkle. I don't care about no Rockies and Bullwinkle. Well, he does. The boy does. I don't even care. You watch whatever you want. I don't want to see no stupid cartoon if the Ultimate Warrior is fighting. I'm eight years old, so. He wants to watch them Smurfs. They're so funny with their blue skin. Baby Smurfs.
Smurf ain't on TV no more. Smurfette, the only woman in there. That's right. Yes, Mom. Baby, Vince McMahon's supposed to be making a nice man tonight. I think he don't care about no Vince McMahon. Yes, he should if he's a big girl to be a man. I don't care. He don't want to win no Publishers Clearinghouse, whatever that Vince McMahon does. That's Ed McMahon, baby. Oh, whatever, baby. Vince McMahon's the president of WWE. See, you'd know that if we was watching it right now. You can watch it. I don't care. Put on those cartoons. Give me a beer. Just watch. You have beer on your belly. I swear. Darn beer on my belly. So yesterday, I was homesick. And thank goodness for my handkerchiefs, which, by the way, Sienna thinks is the filthiest thing in the world. It is. I carry around. Buggers. I carry around a handkerchief, all right? It's not just Sienna, by the way, that thinks that. It's my old man. My old man. I got it from my old man, all right? My dad has always carried around these homemade. My mom makes them, okay? They're homemade. White handkerchiefs, you know, they're sewn at the bottom to have the nice corners. Very soft. She makes them out of the same material you make a pillowcase with. Will you put that back in your pocket, though? Yeah. It's gross. It dries, though. It's hideous. It dries. Boogers.
Crusty. It's not. It's not rag. Listen, to me, it's a throwback to the old man, you know, and I am becoming my dad. Now, one time I would have thought that, oh, that's gross. But then I got to the point where I was like, listen, my old man did it. I'm going to do it. You know what I mean? Well, yeah. Maybe you carry a pocket watch or something. All right. Monocle. Yeah. Maybe wear a monocle like your old man. Maybe I would if my old man carried a pocket watch. I'm same deal with my dad. It's my chair. That's my chair. I did the same thing. Every dad's bed. They don't even sit it anymore. It's fantastic. Yeah. It's my chair. And the deal with my dad was there was no conversation about it. There was no look. If my dad came into the room, I just hopped out of that chair. Immediately. There was no conversation. You knew there didn't have to be. If there was a conversation, that'd be the same thing as him having to have a conversation with you.
About using his toothbrush. Yeah. He doesn't need to talk to you about that. Get out of the... That's my chair. There's the... Oh, you know what I do that my dad does is the repeating of stories. You ever do that? Jay does that? Yeah, I do it. The repeating of stories. Woods, do you ever do the repeating of stories? You tell somebody... Okay. I'll tell you this big thing. And about a week later, I'll go, oh, by the way, Woodsy, Rebecca just got a phone call. And, you know, it's her dad from, you know, that she hasn't talked to in 40 years and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, I know we talked about this. You're like, yeah, remember we remember you were at McDonald's. That's right. That's right. I have a buddy that does that. And I'll tell him, oh, you told me this story. He tells it anyway. Dude, what are you doing? My dad tells it anyway. My dad does too. Just keeps going. Still wants to tell you. My mom actually does it. My dad doesn't do that. All of you do this thing where you have a catchphrase that you like to repeat. Mike, yours is when you say, what's that about? A movie or a book? You'll say, it's about two hours. About 200 pages. You say that all the time.
Like the dorkiest jokes that you will pass on to your kid. Also, you guys know that when it comes to, I'm the opposite of frugal. Right. I'm not frugal. No. Very wasteful. Shouldn't be. And, you know, work on that. However, at my home, don't leave lights on if you're not in the room. Really? You're that guy? My dad. Yeah. Do not. Why is that light on if you're not in there? Oh, really? Why are you doing that? Yeah, I don't care. But you give me grief for it here, though. I'll turn lights off. You're like, why is this light off? Well, you're in there. You're in the room. I'm really saving money. You're in the room. It's different, by the way, when I'm at work because it isn't my house. You know what I mean? At home, though, that light needs to be off.
That's just something I picked up from my old man. You got him, Woods? Just the one, man. My dad does the fake golf swing just all the time. You do the bat swing? I do the baseball now. It sucks. It really sucks. I feel that you're a little tough on dad about that situation. Not really. But don't you think it's his nervousness? It's a nervous tick. What happened was Woods' dad does it. practice golf swing. Yeah, but he does it everywhere. He does it everywhere. He always has. I always made fun of him, and then I play semi-professional baseball, so I do. I'm always checking my hands, getting my hands up in the right spot, doing the fake bat swing. Right. I also will do the fake pitcher's mount bit. And the fake guitar. I've played air guitar for years. My dad doesn't do that, but I'll do this bit. Just the fake. Yep. Woods always, he goes through his windup. He'll do fake windup. He got it from his dad. His dad does that constantly. Woods felt it was inappropriate for his dad to practice his golf swing one time when they were in a hospital room. Yeah, he's, you know, it's his bit. It's his nervous bit and now apparently it's my nervous bit. Oh, it's yours. Yeah, I do it all the time. Anybody else do stuff your dad did? And you can call us 5701-949. I've got two.
What? My dad sneeze, which is weird. The loud, crazy sneeze. Yeah. It runs in the family. You have the same one? I have the same sneeze. We can hear Jay sneeze through the soundproof walls. He does. And then the thing with cabinets. My dad's thing was if cabinet doors were left open, he would lose his body. And I always thought, why do you care? And now cabinets are like, who's leaving these open? Right. Right. I had a buddy who had a laugh. forever that was very recognizable. And as he got older, it turned into his dad's, his dad laughed like Count Chocula. And he, as he got older, and I was like, that's so weird. Like your laugh. has become your father's laugh. Yep. My brother's laugh is becoming my dad's laugh. Really? It's really high-pitched. The funnier it is, the more high-pitched. Your dad or your brother? Both of them. Yeah. The high-pitched, like... We do. We become our father. We do, man. I need to be in control of the television. My dad needs to be in control of the television. Ditto. Oh, this is the one that drives my wife crazy. It literally... This one...
She's learned to live with it, but I wonder if any guys are listening to your dad does this. When I go to a restaurant, I'll order and want to give my credit card as I'm ordering the meal. Wow. And the reason for that is as soon as I've taken the last bite, I want out of there. I don't want any part of hanging out. I don't want any visiting. I don't want any, you know, dessert. Dessert to me. Coffee. is my nightmare. Coffee and dessert is my nightmare. I want to go now. And that was always my dad. Also, parties, social gatherings. My dad, my dad would do this bit. Esther. That's all he had to do. That was my dad's cue. Esther. To the point where he would go, Esther. And she would go, wait, Danny. He wouldn't even say. He wouldn't even say, let's go. She knew. Everybody knew. When my dad goes, Esther. And she would go, wait, Danny. I'm having fun. Everybody's visiting. And he wouldn't say a word. He wouldn't argue back. He wouldn't say anything. He would just stay quiet. And five minutes. I'm in real time. Five minutes. Esther. And when he did it the second time, she would make a disappointed face, but they would go. And it's me.
It's me. When we go somewhere, I'm, and my wife said, because we went out to dinner, we were talking about this to her best friend Lori. And my wife and Lori both said, why do you want to go home? I said, my bed, my smell of my house, the smell of, you know, the touch of my couch. It's all very familiar. So I can now answer for why my dad did something so goofy. Because I used to wonder as a kid, we're swimming, everybody's having a good time, dad wants to go. Why are we leaving? I hated that. Why are we leaving? It seems like we just got here. Why are we leaving? I hated that. The reason we're leaving is because dad wants to get home and watch Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom in his chair. Barnaby Jones. Barnaby Jones. Matlock. I remember as a kid thinking to myself, we freaking left a party of swimming and great company and a blast. And mom was laughing as hard as I've ever heard her laugh. Esther. And we came home for freaking mutual of Omaha's wild kingdom. That's me. Gotta go. It drives her crazy.
And she'll say to me, sometimes as we're driving to the restaurant, my wife will go, I just want you to know that tonight I'd like to get dessert. And you know what I do? I stay completely silent, just like my dad. And I do it. I do it. Are you raging inside? Inside, I'm like, all right, we'll spend 25 minutes ordering. Happy birthday. I guess we'll get a brownie and a coffee. It's hilarious. Decaf. Just to let you know beforehand. Just to let me know beforehand. Jamie does it to me, too, because I'm the exact same, but she'll be like, listen, I don't want this to be a 45-minute Donovan's meal. I'm like, really? Why are you setting stuff up? Why? Why? Just let me do my thing. You go, can it be a 30-minute Donovan meal, then? No, I want four hours at Donovan's, and I want to drink wine with the girlfriends, and I want to... It's a good time. You too, Jay? You like it? Yeah, I like it. I like it. A meal should be sit back, relax, give yourself a chance to digest. I'll tell you why it may be a problem for me and why it may have been a problem for my dad. It meant a lot of times going to a party and going to dinner meant getting dressed up, which was clothes we're not comfortable in. What we're comfortable in is a slobby t-shirt and maybe, you know, shorts that are made out of sweats material. Cut off. And so we're there.
Feeling like a complete tight sausage. We're a tightly wrapped sausage. Mom's having a great time. Rebecca's having a great time. I feel like a tightly wrapped sausage watching everybody eat hors d'oeuvres. Making small talk. Making small talk, which to me, like really with that, the kids are having a blast. They've slipped four times. giving themselves massive bruises, but they're having a blast. Running inside out of the pool on the linoleum floor. Oh, yeah. Tile floor. Hey, Mike, how's the show going? Good? It's going great, yeah. Cool, man. It's going good. What do you think about those Chargers this year? Do you think we'll play football? I don't know, man. We'll just have to see how it pans out, I guess. Rebecca. What time do you wake up in the morning? You know, generally about 1 to 1. What time do you have to be there? 1.30. Oh, I have to be there at 5. Hey, babe. What time do you guys usually get off? Just depends, I guess. Is your stuff scripted that you guys do? Do you script everything? It's generally off the cuff. Hey, babe. It is. Yeah. It's like improv? Uh-huh. What about bedtime? When do you go to sleep? When do you go to bed? Got to go to bed pretty early. Usually, uh-huh. So what time do you have dinner? Uh...
Here she is. She can tell you. Babe, what time do I have dinner? About five. You ready? What time do the kids go to bed then? Kids go to bed at 6.30 or whatever. So they go after you. You go to bed before the kids. Now, about this time, Rebecca notices how many peppered questions. This is her getaway. Because she realizes, oh, he's busy. He's busy. He's busy. So she runs, and I give her the look like, how dare you? How dare you with that? You got to tell John about your morning routine. Johnny. Dude, it's Mikey from the radio. It's Radio Man. It's Radio Guy. You're not that short. And he's hammered. He's drunk. He's drinking at the pool all day. Hey, babe. Babe, this is Mikey in the morning show. Mikey in the morning show. Hey, dude, tattoo. This is a sports guy? This is a sports guy. Hey, I'm talking to you. Hey, man. What happened with you and Eddie? Do you know Jeff and Jer? I love those guys. You guys know Jeff and Jer? Yeah, I used to like your show. I really don't anymore. Hey, dude, you know who my favorite person on your show is? Star. Star. Killer. Star is so funny, man. Something's drawing attention for E. coli and an E. coli outbreak. What is it? Why do you eat it? And then I got an interesting question I'll ask you. And then we got it.

You would. I'll make a prostit... What did you say it? Prostitetic? Prostitetic. Prostituted leg. Yeah. I'm just glad you're able to pull up your panties and come in today. All right. God has zero sympathy. None. I mean... Can you imagine his kids saying, Dad, I'm not going to school today? Daddy, I'm sick. Yeah, you are. If you're dead, I can't go. Yeah, you can. You take a bag. You take a glide bag. A glide bag. For what? Throwing up. Daddy, I don't feel good. I got a fever. 106. That's what Tylenol's for. Bring it down. Bring an ice pack. Bring an ice pack. What's an ice pack, Dad? Ice pack. You heard me, ice pack. I didn't say ice pack. I said ice pack. Mommy did. An ice pack. What's an ice pack? You put ass in it. And you put it on stuff if it's hurting. So what is drawing attention to the new E. coli outbreak? This thing is getting huge. This outbreak in Europe right now. And they're saying that they're now blaming cucumbers for the 26 people that have been killed and over 2,700 people that have been sick from this E. coli outbreak. Mainly happening in Germany. Gross.
Gross. You wouldn't have to worry about it. Neither would I. I don't eat those filthy things. I hate cucumbers. So delicious. I love them. They're blaming cucumbers from Spain. They're coming from Spain. And then they shifted it to sprouts in northern Germany. Now they're back to saying they're cucumbers. So they're trying to get this figured out because a lot of people, like I said, are really sick from this. It is not our fault because we try to put the wax on the cucumber, but sometimes it gets the water on there. And the water comes from the place where the pigs, sometimes where they go poo-poo. Are you Spanish cucumber guy? I'm Spanish cucumber guy. Cucumber farmer. And so sometimes it will get on there and then you get sick. But why don't you peel it? If you feel it, it won't get you sick. Yeah, you feel it and it won't get you sick. Maybe wash it. That's what I mean. Yeah. Do the same thing. Yeah. Either that or you peel it. I have a question for you. What is it that makes everybody has personal preference? Okay. And it made me think we all do our hot dog different because we all got personal preference. Okay. Perfect hot dog looks like this. Perfect hot dog has mustard on the bun first before there's even been a hot dog in the bun. The mustard goes in first.
Because I don't want mustard on my mouth and my lips when I bite into it. I don't want all that. So mustard is laid down first. No ketchup. I'm not nine. Okay, I'm not nine. So no ketchup for me. My wife, she eats a hot dog like a nine-year-old. Well, when she still used to not, when she wasn't veggie. After the mustard, chopped fresh onion. Plenty of white chopped. Fresh onion. Diced real small. Diced real small. It's great. Now, the dice to me, I'm fine. That'd be great. Big chunks? I'm fine. Either way. It could be diced small. It could be big chunks. I'm fine. Then the hot dog. And I personally enjoy a little sauerkraut, but I understand. I know. Woods immediately is going to barf. I get it. It's not for everybody. It isn't for everybody. I understand. Now. if chili is available, if chili is available, and I can make a chili dog, very particular. First of all, if they have a plastic white spoon, that's what the application needs to be used. And I would say three teaspoons. Because what I need is, I need to know that the chili's there, but I don't need to be a gustus gloop from, you know,
freaking Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory about the chili. Because all that's going to do is create an enormous mess. Okay? A lot of people will put ketchup on, which personally, I have this thing in my head. It's WT. In my head. It's me. It's me. It's me. It's me. It's me. 100% accurate. No. 100%. What? You're with me, Sienna? I can't stand ketchup on hot dogs. Blah. It makes me think of like... Seriously. This is American as apple pie. No, it's not. I know some of my best friends, including my wife, are listening right now. And they're like, not only is it not WT, that's the way that you're supposed to make a hot dog. It's on the commercial. It is. Now, that's what made me think of it, L-O-B. So yesterday, I'm watching a commercial for Hebrew National Hot Dogs. And they're showing how everybody's got a different looking hot dog. Did you DVR that? Oh, wow. That ended it. I mean, just a knockout punch to the fat. Yeah. But as I watched it, I thought, boy, do we like different. I would never eat that hot dog. And you know what no one can ever do? Can you imagine me saying to you, Sienna, we're out of place. Can you imagine me saying to you, hey, they have hot dogs. Want me to make you one? Oh, absolutely not. Don't.
I gotta make it. Imagine it comes back with sweet relish on it. Is there anything worse than a packet of relish? Gonna put the hot dog in the bun. Which, by the way, has precisely one pea-sized amount. After you squeeze it. One pea-sized amount of relish. You need six of them to cover a dog. I don't want... I don't want packets of anything, by the way, with a hot dog. I don't want to squeeze mustard. First of all, I don't want to fuck my teeth. Oh, I love that. You love that? I used to eat when I was a kid at the swim club. I would just get packets of mustard and just suck it through the plastic. You should never put your mouth on the outside of the packaging. Well, I was a kid. I still do. You shouldn't. Not eat mustard, but use the packet with my teeth. Well, in a pinch, we all have to.
Movie theaters are the cheapest places in the world. They give you packets now. Can you just tear it without putting it in your tank? No. Not as easy. Don't tell them where that's been. Like Joe's hands behind the counter who just picked his nose. Well, I will now. Thanks. Same with cans of soda. Jay just single-handedly made it so I will never stick my mouth on one of those packets again. My cans of soda. Cans of soda. Cans of soda. Oh, I always spit on a napkin and wipe it with the napkin. I don't. It's a real germ killer. Just go with it. It's a real germ killer. Germ wiper. You ever had a Chicago dog? Yeah. Really? You know what? Easy, Mario Batali. They're so good. They're so good. You don't need to put it. I don't do it. You can't do it at home. You'll lose your mind. A pickle with tomatoes. And peppers. And hot peppers. They put a side of a pickle and tomatoes and celery salt on top, which is real good. And it's got to be a Kaiser bun with the black seeds. Is that what that's called? Yeah. 570-1949. I'm interested to hear what a hot dog done the right way is. Sienna, what's a hot dog done the right way? Bun, mustard, hot dog.
Onions, but not very much. You can't have too many onions. You can't have too little onions. It has to be the right amount. Jalapenos. Yes. That's it. Couldn't do that. Love the jalapenos. Way too vinegary. You've now made my... I like vinegary. You've made my hot dog vinegary. I love it. L-O-B. Perfect hot dog. Perfect hot dog. I would do... The little bit of the onions, but I would put them in the bun first. Before the... Yeah, because otherwise they fall everywhere. Great idea. So I put them in the bun first, and then you're going to hate this, but I swirl the ketchup and mustard together. That's... That's... That's worse. No. You do it together and make little zigzags. I'm contemplating our friendship right now. So you're telling me. That if it's the pump, you will pump some mustard. Then on top of that, you will pump some ketchup. And then what will you do? Take your finger? No, it swirls together naturally in your mouth. Okay, so you don't mix it with something. No need to isolate. No, but when I was a kid, I used to take the white plastic knife and I would spread it. Together.
Yeah. Making a mustard and ketchup stew. I always thought it looked disgusting because one of my friends would do it with her finger and she'd lick her finger afterwards and I'd be like, what? But I tried it and I spread it with the knife and I was like, oh. All right, so onion, mustard, ketchup mix. Then? If I go to Petco, I'll throw the jalapenos on there. But usually at home, it's like I wouldn't go to those measures. No relish. Yeah. No onion. No, the onion on the inside. Onion first, sorry. Woods? Bun? Wiener. Then mustard on top. Light onions. Light onions. I don't do a lot because of the heartburn, but I mean, it kills me. And then if it's available, some dill relish. Not sweet relish. I can do relish. Dill. I can do dill. Sweet's filthy. M1. M1. Garrett. Garrett. Garrett. From downtown. What was the word of the day? First off, I want to say, you know, I got the Mikey Show hoodie, you know, when it came out last Friday or two weeks ago. Right on. And I was at the movie screening last night, and I'm on five compliments on it. People were like, oh, my God, where did you get that? Want to say, you know, good job on the hoodie, guys. Thanks. Killer. Right on. Did I say the word of the day? Because I didn't notice that I did. Napkin. And I said it? Probably talking about hot dogs. Nah.
It has really good hot dogs. Wait, wait, wait. Did I say napkin? The phone's lit up. I think you must have. I must have. I must have said it. Well, congratulations. You're going to see Kings of Leon at Cricket Wireless on September 4th. Did you have something else about this hot dog thing? Yeah, just real quick. In Cahoots in Mission Valley, the guy that's been there for about 20 years that has a hot dog stand right outside. Yeah. Man, they're bomb. They have everything you were talking about, you know, chopped onion, potato tart fritos. Ooh. She's got my attention. Wiener time. And they'll put that on the hot dog? Crazy stuff, dude. We got to go. We got to try it. Hey, thank you. Let's go line dancing and then we'll get some hot dogs. Hey, is that only at night when they're open and they do that? Or they do it for lunch?
I'll buy just like you do when you get to the San Diego fair for the deep fried corn. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you. Appreciate it. Hang in line. Hey, do we have my brother's name? Do you have my brother's name? I don't. You don't? Can we get it for me? Come get it. I want to call him because he owns a hot dog stand. He does? Yeah. Rockstar. Rockstar Hot Dogs. What? Yeah. Yeah, my brother has a company called Rockstar Hot Dogs. And it's really more than anything. It's about the clothing. that he gives to rock stars and they love it. And the tax shelter. And the tax shelter. But when he used to actually care about the hot dog, the guy had the most incredible hot dogs you could imagine. Really? But then he started to realize more people are buying the merchandise because it's a cool brand, the rock star hot dogs, which is lightning in a bottle. It's just like... He hit on something that was real. For whatever reason, people liked those two concepts together because it was so weird. And so he sells a bunch of T-shirts, you know, and stuff like that. Well, when he used to do the dogs, when he used to actually make those dogs, oh, my goodness. He used those big, giant, fluffy, soft buns with sesame seeds. Oh, yeah. You know what I'm talking? Mm-hmm.
His belief was that grilling hot dogs was only for the 4th of July. So he had a big water thing that boiled them just like mom used to do. And his other belief was that the hot dog has to fit the size of the bun. Instead of like when we make them at home and the hot dog's all little and the bun's all long. I don't mind it. I like them bigger. Oh, outside of the bun? Yeah, that's hideous. I love that. I love it because you get the little just straight sausage. That thing hanging. I don't want that. I like that too. I don't want just the tip of the beef. Oh, I do. That's the best part. Whatever it is. I like to throw in sweet corn and sautéed onions as well. Oh, boy. So good with you. Fancy. That's delicious. Sweet corn. I take a skillet and I throw sweet corn and onions and sauté them together. Sauté? Oh. That sounds great. It melts in your mouth. Corn is disgusting. You're disgusting. What? Corn is filthy. Corn is delicious. Corn is delicious. Never knew that about L-O-B. W-T. What? I can eat it off the cob, but just corn. You're calling Native Americans W-T. No, she's saying all of you. Really? You don't like it in any way? Uh-uh. What's the difference between on the...
On the cob and off. It's an experience. It's still called corn. It's an experience. It's an experience. So anything cob-like. Can you get him on the phone? Did you get him? He was on. Can we have a corn-eating contest, please, at some point? You would win no questions. Chris is dialing him up. Oh, he's not answering. Of course. Of course he is. Never answers. Does he ever just not listen to us? I don't know what's up. I said, I can't get my brother to answer the phone anymore because I think he thinks I'm going to fillet him. Yeah, yeah. And I don't. You don't fillet people anymore. Yeah, and I'm not a filayer. 5701949 is the number. So I told you that we were going to tell you about this text that we got about something that people wear that you would never imagine would bother someone. But this person said that it annoys them. They didn't put a name on their phone number, but I can't give that. It says, okay, I'm just going to go ahead and say it. People that walk around in their scrubs annoy me. We get it. You're a doctor. I got it, pal. Easy. Oh, stop it. They came from work. Easy, Surgeon General. I got you. Easy. Are they supposed to change after work? Yeah. Yeah. I don't wear my headphones walking down the street. Do you wear your outfit?
I do carry a microphone, though. I carry my mic with me when I go. They're not wearing a stethoscope. Question, Woods. Yes. What about if it's their lunch break? Okay. So that is okay? Here's the deal. I leave that in the hospital. You've been around patients all day. You're germy. Take that thing off. Wear a t-shirt. Maybe throw a v-neck in your back. They get a fresh pair while they're there. They just switch from one pair to another. But, Jay. They like it. Don't you think that it's sort of a status symbol? No. 100%. Listen, and I'm not just, I'm talking about anybody that wears scrubs. Not just the doctors, because doctors aren't the only ones that wear scrubs. There are lots of people that wear scrubs. There are plenty of people that work the reception desk. My mom, she has to wear them. So when you, this is ridiculous. If I'm a nurse and this is what I'm wearing. Yes.
Then I have to bring a change of clothes because I'm going to go out and eat lunch. Or I'm going to go home. I'm going to stop by. You're a clown. Dress appropriately. Come on. So like you see a painter with paint all over his clothes. You're like, hey, buddy, quit showing off. He's not showing off. No, because that's not showing off. He's not. But it's the same thing. It's his uniform. I get it. You're white collar. Yeah. Oh, we get it, guy. You went to med school. You went to medical school. A little jealousy going on here is what I see. Maybe a little bit. Maybe a little. That's their uniform. And, Woods, you don't have to wear your headphones when you go out in public because you'll tell everyone you meet. Not true. Not true. Do I? In an elevator. Hey, on the Mikey Show. Yeah, I do that. Now you're lying. I'm on the airplane. Hey, I work on a little morning show called the Mikey Show. You're such a dude. Hey, let's swipe out. I don't know. We're DJs. I will say this. A girl asked us if we were. She goes, are you guys Jay and Woods? I go, yep. That was the extent of that. Listen. D-head. Listen. There's one thing. I'm fine with any scrub, okay? But there is something that I do see. Every once in a while, I will see scrub guy. Now, this is always scrub guy. Scrub girl never annoys me. Right. Garfield scrub. Butterfly. Betty boop scrubs. They make you smile, though. Hello, kitty. I never have a problem.
with female scrub wear in public. However, guy scrub wear, have you ever seen guy scrub wear who, you know the mask? He just shoves it around his neck. Or on the back of his head. Or on the back of his head. He just takes it and he puts it down like, well, you know, I know I'm going to be using it later. I just got out of surgery. Just now. Yeah. I just finished my job at Grey's Anatomy. And so I, listen, I had to make a deposit. I had to make a deposit here at Wells Fargo. And I also needed to get some fish sticks for my son because my wife is no longer with me. And so I'm eligible. I'm a single dad. I'm a single dad just trying to make his way. Single doctor, dad. Well, yeah. And you know what? I'm doing my residency. Right. So I'm also taking a few units at UCLA Medical School. Maybe put a V-neck on. Do you want to hear something that repulsed me that I saw one time at the grocery store? Guy in scrubs wearing flip flops. You're just showing off. Are you going to the beach? Are you going to work? What are you doing? So every American in San... Well, every person in San Diego goes to the fair and we're going to tell you what's new in food at the fair next. Weird. And...
I said something to my wife that almost had her cut my head off. And, you know, sometimes on this show, I'll challenge you. So we're going to do that next. Mikey Show coming up in minutes. If you quit, it's going to follow you for the rest of your life. So, be a part of the Mikey Show now. Hey, Rip Van Byen. Shoot him a text. 949mikey at gmail.com. And? Call 570-1949. First, Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, if you ride the bus, a very cool new thing that's coming. You can text to find out exactly when the bus will be there. You know when you're waiting, you're like, oh, where's this bus? None of us really ride the bus very often, but a lot of people do. Now you can text...
Go MTS, and they will tell you exactly when the bus will be there. That's cool. Just right to your phone. So cool. Go MTS. Also, Taylor Swift set a record last night at the CMT Awards. There's been 10 CMT Music Awards, and she's now claimed three of the top awards for video of the year. Last night, she won for her video mine. Tonight, Twain fell down. She fell down really hard. It was so embarrassing. They're calling her in and they're like, okay, now welcome the gorgeous Shania Twain. Right. And there's, you know, bleachers and in between the bleachers is like a small walkway that she walks out into the like arena, you know? Right. And finally the camera goes to her and you see her coming out and just face plant. Her feet come out underneath her and her entire body is just bam on the ground. Not like a small slip, a huge fall. It's really funny. It may be on my blog later too. Oh, wow. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, I reported yesterday that Anthony Rizzo was going to be coming to San Diego for a doctor's appointment, which was true. But guess what else he's going to be doing? He will be making his major league debut for the San Diego Padres tonight at first base. It is Anthony Rizzo day. They are not scoring a lot of runs. This kid can flat out hit, albeit at AAA. So we'll see how he does. We're all pulling for him. He has to be good because he's the main piece in the trade for Adrian Gonzalez.
Anthony Rizzo night tonight. Isn't that also the name of the character from the Jerky Boys? Hey, it's Anthony Rizzo. Maybe, I don't know. Frank Rizzo. Frank Rizzo. Frank Rizzo. Frank Rizzo. Frank Rizzo. Jerky. Also, the Mavericks and Heat get back to business tonight. And everybody was talking about Dirk Nowitzki. He had 102 temperature, scored 10 of his 21 in the fourth quarter the other night. They asked him what he did right after the game. I try to get out of here pretty quick, go home, take a long shower, and just go to bed right away. Yeah, just drink some fluids, drink some tea, and just feel a lot better today. I think I've got a little high temperature, but the fever is basically gone, so that's obviously the main concern always. That's a man. That is a man. That's a man. Series is tied 2-10. Maybe take notice of what it takes to be a man, right? That's a true champion. Yeah, throwing up in diarrhea wouldn't keep him out, all right? Still played the game. Still played the game, Mike. A little wimp. Let's see. Okay, so what do we got? What's new? What can we expect? New food at the fair. Sienna. Okay, well, this stand that everyone always wants to know about is Chicken Charlie's because he makes crazy stuff. Now, the biggest thing that everyone's talking about right now, fried Kool-Aid. Deep fried Kool-Aid. That's the one everyone's talking about this year. Not the Twinkie, not the Oreo. Deep fried.
What about Unicorn Tears? They deep fry that? It's everything. They just deep fry everything. Deep fried Unicorn Tears. You want to know what else? Fried Advil. Chicken Charlie. Fried Advil. Ew. Deep fried Advil. It's new this year. It's delicious. It's different. If you've got a headache and you're at the base, you want to eat and take care of your headache? Yeah, eggs and pains. Deep fried Visine. You know, we figured we hadn't done that. Chicken Charlie will also be deep frying brownies. Delicious. It doesn't. Mikey, those are going to be ungodly good. I bet. Oh, so good. So melted. Fried barbecue ribs. Mikey. Give me food. At Chicken Charlie's fans. You just, you're admitting a lot to yourself if you're able to consume that. You've admitted a lot to yourself. You've given up. You've done. Fair, whatever. Well, but there's a part of you that says, you know what? I don't care. I don't care. I know what this brings with it, but I don't care. And one of the other things at Chicken Charlie's this year is the deep fried thin mints. Girl Scout cookies. Delicious. Oh my goodness.
Also new, Cornucopia, which is at the Del Mar Diner at Plaza de Mexico. That means Plaza of Mexico. Cornucopia is a small, like a mini ear of corn with cornbread around it. Oh, wow. I want tacos and burritos. Oh, you're in the right place. They have that there. I went to the media night and had to, I sampled some of it. At Juicy's booth on the infield, they have deep fried beef jerky. Ew. They deep fry everything? Yeah. They have a whole deep fried deer. It's just a deer that they dipped in batter and then just deep fried it. Also at the deep fried butter stand at Avenue of the Palms, they have deep fried beer battered bacon. They have chocolate covered corn dog with sprinkles, deep fried pigs in a blanket on a stick and deep fried chocolate covered bacon on a stick. Oh, wow.
A corn dog with chocolate and sprinkles on it. Sidious. That's insane. You guys, Mikey, would stay here. They're not opening yet. They ain't open yet, Tubbs. Gosh darn, if I got to chain that door shut. I guess I'll call Garrett to come back in since y'all are going to be leaving. We know y'all heard the words deep Fred. Pigs in a blanket. Jay, is there any of those things that you would feel comfortable eating? No. I'm perfect. Now, I mean, listen. If they had un-deep fried things, you know, if I could eat a French fry without it being fried, I'd have it. I'd just eat a stick of potato. Yeah, that's right. Just a potato. Oh, look. Jay printed out some texts. There's three of them. Such a clown. Actual texts that he thought might be good for us to read on the air. People are feeding this monster. Can someone please ask Jay to go outside and smile into the sky so that the sun will come out? That's M1, Eric Terman. That's brilliant. That's brilliant. Eric Terman always doing bits. Yeah, doing bits. Love that guy. He doesn't believe that will happen. I think he might. That's so brilliant. Y'all know it would work. Y'all know I can do it. If I just go outside and show my pearly whites. Listen, today I wanted a nap.
So I ain't going to do it. I like it a little gray when I nap. That's right. Guys can use that as a pickup line now. Yeah. Hey, go outside and smile. It's time to come out. The next one is from M1VWNiceBeaver. It says, Jay, you're the man! You are so hilarious! And then M1Queen texted in to say, I miss Mike, but I love when Garrett fills in because Jay... gets to talk more. Keep them coming, folks. Then those are today's texts. Any texts about any of us? No texts about input on any of the topics that we're discussing. Jay, can you please go smile so that the sun will come out? Just Jay, you're perfect. Do you think Jay has an exacto knife and he's putting all of these in a scrapbook somewhere? Hey, Kim, check this out. Like you didn't know already. When he's 84 years old, he'll be like, he'll get his grandkids, come sit on grandpa's lap. I'm going to show you scrapbook. That one I was on during the day. Now, this next topic may upset some people. All right. Now, I believe that this is a little bit of SG&T. Sounds good, not true. Now, there are a lot of things that I consider SG&T.
But I brought this up to my wife the other day. I said, you know, babe, because we were talking about this. And I said, you know, babe, is childbirth really a miracle? What? Like human childbirth? Yes. The creation of life? Hear me out. She looked at me like she was going to stab me in the throat. Much like these two ladies are looking at you. Yes. I said, I consider a miracle. To be something that you just. Don't see every day. I mean in fact. By the nature of what it is. It is miraculous. And my wife said. I've heard it said before. That childbirth. Is one of the only miracles. That we actually get to experience. And I said. SG&T. Oh. Now hang on. Hang on.
Where's my knife? Here is the definition of a miracle. A highly improbable or extraordinary event, development, or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences. Now, I did grant her this. I said, I do believe that conception is in fact a miracle. Especially in my bedroom. Well, in y'alls, it's just an ordinary occurrence. When conception occurs at the house of the Isbells, trust me, the heavens open up. Angels sing. That's right. David comes down into my bedroom. That's right. Kim sensed one time she saw God. It was just me. So I do believe that the act of conception could be a miracle because it's so crazy how it happens. You know, I mean, it's like a lot of things have to take place. They all got to take place at one time. And, you know, they got to. I know that's how it's done. I know. But that but but but but the actual birth, like not only.
Is it not a rare occurrence, but it virtually happens. It's happening right now. Doesn't every species do? Yes. Don't join in. Isn't that true? And they're all miracles. They all are. That's a lot. A lot of miracles. That's a lot of highly improbable. Right. That's the key to it. No, it says or extraordinary. It says highly improbable or extraordinary. It's extraordinary. It's extraordinary. Yeah, it is. Gosh darn. I've been there. Okay, wait, wait, wait. So question, question. When a guy walks a tightrope, is it a miracle? At the circus, when he walks the tightrope, is it a miracle? Because by definition, that's a highly improbable or extraordinary event. But what about the second part is the consequences. Or accomplishment that brings very welcome consequences. Hey, when he walks that tightrope, oh my God, he did it! Holy cow, he didn't even fall! He did it! No net! It's amazing, but it's not a miracle. It's not a miracle. That's what I'm saying. I think it's amazing. I told Rebecca, I go, listen, babe, I'll use a lot of words for that childbirth.
Awesome, amazing, incredible. Miracle has, I've always had, I've never said it out loud, but I've always had a hard time wrapping my head around, well, why is it a miracle? Isn't a miracle something crazy that just doesn't happen? I said, babe, a guy, a man walking on water, that's a miracle. That's crazy. A guy healing a guy's eyes because he's blind, he rubs a little dirt on it and it becomes a CC's. That's a miracle. Okay, how about this? How about in modern day times? Guy falls off a 40-story building, lives. Miracle. Miracle. I think it's a miracle because that little life, how the body responds and how everything happens, it's a miracle. That's what she said. Rebecca said, you're telling me that a human life living in no air and actually breathing in and out fluid. and then coming out and breathing air, going from nine months of no air to air, you're telling me that's not a miracle. And it just works. And I said, I think it's extraordinary and cool, but a miracle? Now, I'm willing to discuss it. 570-1949. Am I right or am I wrong in this?
Yeah, really? I think it's one of those things that sounds super cool when we say it. It's a miracle. The miracle of life. The miracle of childbirth. I got to tell you, what a woman's body does during that process is a miracle. I mean, the first three times I was in shock and awe. The fourth time I was like, okay, I'm ready for this thing. And I watched everything. And what the woman's body does is extraordinary. Amazing. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. It does not do this. I mean, it's like, there is a hand involved in the birth of every single baby. I can maybe get you on this one, or maybe understand where you're coming from with this, Jay. In that, not to get too graphic here, but that child is big, and where it's being delivered is not. And so, that is... Miraculous. I don't know, though, because it happens all the time. It happens like a million times. And every single time it's a miracle. Yes. Isn't the definition of a miracle something that doesn't happen a lot? No, it's not. I don't scream. I'm just asking. And isn't a miracle also something that's improbable? Like, oh, my God. Or extraordinary.
Okay, then. That gets me. The extraordinary thing means that we got to put a lot of extraordinary things into the category of miracle because it has a positive consequence. But look at the consequences. It's a life. It's a person that wasn't there before. L-O-B. How about this? You just went to a wedding out in New Jersey. How did you get there? A plane. An airplane. You're telling me that a steel tube that weighs approximately 80 tons went up in the air. And took not one, not two, but probably hundreds of people across the country on one tank of fuel. And it safely landed and you disembarked. It's amazing, but it is. It's not just amazing. It's extraordinary. And it's improbable. It is. It doesn't make sense. I mean, the whole thing to me is. And did it have positive consequence? Of course. You got to go where you're going. But somebody. Quickly. It's a miracle. But some people would call that a miracle. But the thing about birth. The miracle of flight. Is that. It all occurs naturally. We don't have to like, okay, with an airplane, how many years and like how many precise calculations does that take? With childbirth, the consequence is a new person and that's just all natural. I don't know. Look at the skin on your children. You made that.
You made that skin. You had something inside you. Your wife had something inside her together. Now, that part, when it comes together and makes that stuff, and the fact that inside of you it's breathing liquid, okay, to me that's pretty miraculous because it's so weird and crazy, and you can't do that out of the womb. But the actual birth is what I've always been heard called a miracle. You see that all the time. M1 Sadie from San Diego. I just want to say, Mikey, I think I agree with you because extraordinary by definition means it's outside of what's ordinary. It's outside of what happens every day. But babies are born every single day. So not to discount that it's great. It's amazing. It's great. It's awesome. Why is it a miracle? Sadie, have you had a baby? Sadie, have you had a baby? No, I haven't. Have you been in the room when someone's had a baby?
Uh-huh. It's incredible. It's incredible. You were in the room when someone pushed a baby out. You were right there and saw it? I couldn't look, I'll be honest. I couldn't look. You should look. You don't know until you see it. I mean, I'm not kidding. When I had Sage, it was an out-of-body experience. I agree with that. You can imagine. You don't know until you see it. But why? Okay, now, because I experienced it with Rebecca, and I was moved to tears and everything. Right. And I thought it was one of the most, if not the most extraordinary experiences. And what I mean by that is the experience of me and the lady. Now we're three people. Of course. That whole deal. Right. But there was not a part of it. And I'm just being honest. Please. You can be honest. But there wasn't a part of it. What would have been crazy is if that kid. had an umbilical cord around his neck and should not have survived and did. Yes. Then I would have gone, there's no reason it should have happened, but it did. That's a miracle. But every single day you see pandas, you see.
You see horses. Yorkies. Where are you going? Yorkies. You see women. You see every day. One's happening right now, I bet. So when Penny Bell gave birth to her little puppies, that was a miracle? That's a good question. Is it a miracle? It is life. Oh, okay. Now, that's a different thing. That's an absolute miracle. Why do miracles need to be limited to it? Rarely. It's a gift from God that he gives us miracles every day. Okay, we're talking about it. So when a tabby cat gives birth to a litter of kittens. That's a miracle? Yes. You guys. It is. SG&T. SG&T. Sounds good. Well, we'll see. 5701-949. Never have I seen our phone lines blowing up like this. Like, they may actually explode. Tonight's 8 o'clock album is Mews. Gary. Whoa. Absolution. Mews. Gary. Freaking love him. It is. Mews. You did something on your shoulder. I do. I saw that. It fell off your headphones. Flakes from your headphones. Black bandruff. L-O-B. All right, so here's what we're talking about. And the phone lines, every line is lit up. We're talking about how I said that I don't believe that childbirth is a miracle. I know. Sienna, even during the break, L.O.B. was like, you guys, stop, stop, stop. Because we just couldn't stop talking about it. I said, listen, I believe that the conception and the baby growing inside, I believe all that stuff is miraculous. Because Sienna even said to me, she's like, Mike, these children, they got...
fingernails already. And I'm like, I know, I think that's amazing. But the actual birth itself has always been called a miracle. I've never understood why. It happens all the time. Well, so does conception. It happens all the time. But in and of itself, conception is, in my view, miraculous. What I don't get about the birth is that's like, that's the easy part. For you it is. Isn't the conception the easy part? That's a fun part. Because of all the things that have to happen. The fingernails growing. The lungs developing. The eyes. All that stuff. You're just jealous because you can't give birth. That's true. You guys are lucky. You guys get to give birth. And you get to have periods and stuff. Gosh. Mike, I would like you to get a watermelon right now and try to squeeze it through this ketchup bottle. Let me see you do that. It's easy. Now that, you get me. Every time you say that, Sienna, you get me. It's real easy. And Sienna even said, and to think.
And to think that that ketchup bottle goes back to being a ketchup bottle. That is, you kind of, it's hard for me to have an argument to that, except for the fact that it is such a regular occurrence. Like, you know. Man, I love ketchup. We jump out of the sky and we have a parachute and it safely lands us. Yeah. Now, what would be. Isn't that a miracle? That's designed to happen, though. People did tests and studies to get that to happen. Childbirth is something that just happens. It's a natural thing. No one discovered childbirth. No one researched to make it happen. Your body knows to do it. It just happens. It's an everyday miracle. It's an everyday miracle. I want to get you with something from a biblical standpoint. Yes! Which means... For me, she's bringing out the heavy armament. Yes. Okay. So the whole seven day bit and one day man was created. Is that the deal? Yes. Okay. So. Is this going to be weird? Chances this will be obscure. No, no, no. It's not going to be obscure. But in the beginning, everything that was on the earth was created by God. Right? So he's now given us the ability as.
humans, as these insignificant little humans, to do what he did in a push. He's giving us God's power. In a push. To create. We are now creating and bringing what he originally had to be God to do, we, by having sex, and then pushing. Here it is. Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. All right. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. It's pretty good. In other words, what you're saying is way back when it started, we didn't have any part in it. Right. He did it. Right. And now it's happening without his anything. Yes. And he doesn't have to take his hand and put the grace of God, if you will, to make this person be here. He gives us the physical power to push one out. I think you got me. This is why.
If you didn't get me, it would mean that we could, if we wanted to, just go water. If we wanted to, we could go light. And I mean actual light, not create something that illuminates and makes light. If we wanted to, we could go bird. We could take this water and turn it into wine. Yes. Yes. But see, I think that goes back to my argument of when it first happens inside your belly is that's the miraculous part. Yes, but this person is now here. This is now a person that's walking around. We're walking miracles then. Yeah, we all are. Really? Wrap your head around that. I don't know. We all were in a womb. All right. With no voice. And then they come out and there's a voice. There sure is. There's breasts. You know, there's breasts. There's private parts. There's everything. Let me tell you, there's a voice. I have a son named Ryan. Does Ryan never cry? It's a new hit. Does Ryan never cry? Usually when I sing this, you hear him. Is he still crying as much? Sienna? Oh, no. Sorry I asked. Sienna? He will now cry if a piece of food falls off of his high chair. Like father, like son.
I deserve you. That was right down the middle fastball. That was. It was. And when it's that good, what am I supposed to say? You can't pitch him up like that. M1 dog bait from El Cajon. Are you there? Go ahead. It's going good. I just want to share a testimony, if you will. My wife and I had three miscarriages before last August. My father was passing away in the beginning of August. We were with him the first, the last couple days of his life. He told us to be prepared for a blessing in October. And at that point, he was kind of talking Jewish and hallucinating and things. Took it in. Five months later, in January, my wife took a home pregnancy test. And she's five months pregnant now. My father told us to be prepared. And the final, the due date is October.
second. Goosebumps, goosebumps. Which is my father's birthday. Oh, wow. Okay. Now, dog bait. Miracle! Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. Now, do I think that that story's miraculous? Of course. But the baby hasn't even been born yet. This is what we're talking about. The conversation is birth. Birth. My wife and every woman in the world, and a lot of men like Jay, believe that the That childbirth itself is a miracle. I challenge that a bit because to me, and not just me, but Webster's Dictionary defines a miracle differently. They say that it's a very improbable and extraordinary event. And it's not so improbable if it happens all the time. But that means that we've got to put all extraordinary things into the category of miracle, like flight. You have to look at the consequence. What's better than life? Nothing bigger than life. But that's not the question. Flying an airplane is nowhere on the same scale. It has a positive consequence. The positive consequence is you get the albuquerque. Fast. Fast. But it's not extraordinary. Isn't it? It's way extraordinary. It is. You're taking a tube and you're putting it in the air. That thing weighs thousands of pounds. And you're safely getting people from one joint to another. But it's not naturally occurring. We've gone through all these, like, you know.
perfection of technology and all this stuff to get to that point. Science, Holmes. M1, Patty Melt from San Diego. Are you there, Patty Melt? I'm here. Go ahead. Morning, Mikey. I just had to say, and so Sienna knows, I have four children, and I have seen it over and over. I agree with you 100%. If there's not an actual intervention by something more powerful, like you were saying about the umbilical cord being wrapped around the child's neck, or, you know, something being wrong with the child, and by the time it's born, that, you know, that problem has, like, you know, went away with, like, no help of anything, you know, man-made, then, you know, childbirth is, you know, it's just an everyday occurrence. Yeah, in fact, not only is it not a miracle, but it's quite common. I want an OBGYN on the phone to tell us that it's a miracle. Yeah, maybe, and maybe that's it, L.O.B., maybe an OBGYN can call and say,
Do you realize what it takes? The only place that anybody's got me so far is that that baby's so big and where it's coming through is not. And that place goes back. That's pretty crazy. And it's like that shouldn't happen. That shouldn't be able to happen. Like, for instance, bees, they say bees should not be able to fly. Did you know that? Did you know that bees shouldn't be able to fly? And what that means is the weight of their body compared to the size and weight of their wings should render it impossible for the bee to take flight. It's like they say about you and Woods walking. You know, man, I... It's killing me! It's killing me! I don't... Wait, wait, wait! I don't know that that's what they... They say that. They say in the hallway right here. And by they, I mean me. That's unbelievable! Yeah. By they, I mean me sniggling to myself going down in the elevator to go home. Writing jokes in here so that I can run up to the mic and go, hey, Freddie. Dear diary, today I made the greatest joke in my head. Everyone laughed. Mikey, you want to know what a miracle is? It's 8.47 a.m. You haven't eaten anything. Now that's a miracle, Freddie. It's a miracle. Mike, think about the beginning of time, though, and you have...
women that are pregnant and they don't know anything about having babies. It's never happened before. They don't know what's going on with their body. It's a miracle that that baby gets out. They just, their body just knows what to do. That's a miracle. You kind of got me on the getting out part. The escape is a miracle. The escape is a miracle. The escape might be a miracle. It shouldn't, it doesn't, listen, not to be graphic, this is an adult show, but if the ladies V were as big as a watermelon, it wouldn't be a miracle. It'd be like, you know what I mean? Just walk out. It'd be a walk. Hey. Kid just comes prancing out. But it is a miracle that, you know what I mean? Maybe you got me there. But nobody's ever explained it to me that way. But women's bodies just know what to do. And they know how to handle it. And they just do it. And they go back. Then let me ask you. Is throwing up a miracle? Wait a minute. Hear me out. Hear me out. You know why we throw up? Because our body is trying to expel something that is bad. Some kind of germ. Some kind of whatever. That's why we do it. But your body doesn't go through physical changes. I've got it. Go ahead, Jay. The human body is a miracle. My body. That's true, Jay. Jay, you're right. But that happens inside. And you're right, bro. I'm with you.
The fact that we have a listen, I remember I remember one time now and whether whatever your theology is or whatever is up to you. But I remember one time Miles McPherson from the Rock Church. In fact, this will trip you out. There was this guy that wrote me one time says he was an atheist till he heard this. Miles McPherson said it. He said, I was watching a special, Mikey, on the eye. All I know is, is that it was showing like how many muscles you have in your eye. And how the eye works, we have not created a camera yet that can take a picture that looks like what we see. We haven't created a camera that can recreate it perfectly. And it's because the eye has all these little muscles in it and makes it move in this way. And there's hundreds of muscles that make it do that. What the eye does with the pupil and the iris and what it all does when it stretches and expands. This guy heard that and he was like, holy cow, I never thought about it. But just your eye, just the eye is insane what it does. Now, take it a step further. The lungs, the heart. Think about a heart. Every single thing that we have takes a battery to keep running. It takes some kind of energy, electricity, a battery, something. Our heart beats our whole life till we die. There's no battery. It just knows to get...
Unless you get a pacemaker. Well, later you might have to. You could because your heart is damaged and you need the pacemaker. Right. But up until that point, like right now, think about it. Your heart is beating and you don't go home and plug into the recharge thing. It just keeps beating and plugging. So your body is a miraculous thing in what it does. Hair growing. All of it. But all that happened in there. Why is childbirth a miracle? It's all part of it, though. You know what's a miracle, Mike? The iPhone is a miracle. I played Family Feud in bed last night on my iPhone. That's a miracle. Can I throw something out there? Go ahead, LB. Sometimes things go wrong before childbirth, which causes a cesarean, a C-section, to happen. There are a number of things that have to happen perfectly in order for the baby to come out naturally. Like the baby has to flip and be head... The hips have to spread. I think temperature changes, the water breaks, all this stuff. The weight of the baby. All this stuff shifts and everything happens and everything expands and the contractions and the whole bit that happens. Now, sometimes that doesn't happen and you have to do the cesarean. So you have to defy nature. But it's a miracle that all that stuff comes together in this harmonious, okay, baby's supposed to come now. Well said. Thank you. Bravo.
So now we're saying that a cesarean is a miracle? No, it's the exception. That's the exception. It's a miracle when you don't need to have that because your body works in such an amazing way that it just knows what to do. And there's so many things your body needs to do in order to naturally have a baby. Okay, I'm going to put it out there. You guys are going to get mad. We got to go wee-wee, don't we? Our body knows to do it. There's not that many things that happen. I bet a lot. Isn't there? Your bladder fills. That's it. Yeah. You drink water, it goes from one hole, comes out the other. I think there's probably different ways we could have phrased that, but, you know, another day, another conversation, maybe your next review. 570-1949. This is M1 Amber from San Diego. Hi, Mikey. Hi. Okay, so here's my stance. I feel that I agree with you and that childbirth is not the miracle. But the act like the laboring and the delivery is not the miracle. Getting that healthy baby to come out is the miracle. Why? It happens all the time. The pregnancy itself. No, it doesn't. It does. Healthy babies does not happen all the time. Don't they? No. If you get an OBGYN to call in, they will tell you everything that can go wrong in a pregnancy is more likely than to get that healthy baby. I don't know. I got a whole population of the world that disagrees with that.
And I've never heard people say childbirth is a miracle. I've heard people say that the child is a miracle. See, and I've always heard it, that childbirth is a miracle. Oh, my gosh. My baby was born. It was a miracle to watch and blah, blah, blah. And I'm always like, really? It was? Yes. It was an extraordinary experience. It was awesome. It was awesome. I'm pregnant. I've been in my girlfriend's, you know, labors and deliveries. And I agree that I don't think the act itself of watching them labor and deliver is... A miracle, because that's natural. It's a daily occurrence. But having that healthy baby, everything to come together to get a healthy baby, that is truly a miracle. Got it. Because so much can go wrong in a pregnancy. And you can have any complications, obviously, at the labor and delivery. But to get a healthy baby to come out, to me, that's the miracle. Thank you, Amber. Appreciate it. Jesse James has had to fork over some money because his dog attacked another dog. Is that right? Mm-hmm. I mean, is this the first time? What kind of dog has he got? He has a pit bull, and it escaped from his home in Texas, and it attacked another dog that was being walked in the area, nearly killing the animal. Now, that dog had to go to the vet, and Jesse James did fork over all the money to pay for the bills. I didn't want to, but I did. But it wasn't my dog's fault.
You're a stand-up guy, though. Everybody knows, so it was a stand-up move. Well, I did it because my attorney told me I had to. You didn't want to look like a bigger D than everybody already thinks you are. I didn't even really think that before. I don't care. All I know is that that dog was a wuss. What? My dog's badass. And if you're going to take a wuss dog for a walk, then I don't know, dude. Like, maybe stuff is going to happen or whatever. Not your problem. It isn't my problem because, like, my dog's badass. And so if you have a wuss dog, you should take it to a wuss park. A wuss park? I don't know. I don't know, like your backyard, dude. Like, all I know is I was trying to walk my dog who's a badass. Maybe you control your dog. I got little dogs. Yeah, well, they look like treats to my dog. I can't help they look like treats, bro. Snap into a Slim Jim. That doesn't make any sense. Yeah, think about it, dude. I'm not going to give my dog Slim Jims or you're not going to treat my dogs like Slim Jims. Hey, I didn't. My badass dog did. You ever open your refrigerator and go, what are you doing in here? Babe? Talking about vegetables? Skeletor, that's Terminator's wife. You think you got something worth adding to the monkey show?

over what was found on the Anthony family computer. Now, we had known that chloroform was researched, but she went on and on about all the details. She told jurors deleted material remains on the computer. Obviously, someone that searched for that stuff tried to delete it, but it only gets deleted if it's overwritten by new data, and it hadn't been. So they were able to see that chloroform was searched in Google. Not only that, but how to make it. I'll tell you, it's crazy. I'm going to go on just a little bit. for about this. Three months before Kaylee disappeared back in March. They also looked for inhalation, self-defense, artery, ruptured spleen, alcohol, head injury. Those were all searches. They also conducted how to make chloroform, neck breaking, making weapons out of household products. And it's just crazy. There were only two user-created profiles on the computer, so they don't know who performed these searches. But, man, for someone to be looking up that stuff before she disappeared. And deleting it. And deleting it, knowing they were up to no good, you know. I mean, it's just nuts. Also, Mike thought you might want to know, there's a new free iPhone and iPad app.

And it has been said he's going to land in the CFL, the Canadian Football League. The Saskatchewan Rough Riders have claimed the rights to him. You know, I have something on that in just a minute that I want to discuss with you because it made me think of something. The whole case with Aaron Pryor. Terrell Pryor. Terrell Pryor. Sorry. So we will...
discuss in a minute. But first, do you keep weird stuff in your refrigerator or your freezer? Things that are not necessarily food. Yeah. And a lot of us do it, and I think we do it because maybe our dad did it. In fact, I think if we asked ourselves in 90% of the cases, why do we have that in the fridge? I don't know, because my dad or my mom did it. Why do I have batteries in the refrigerator? Yep. Why do I have Copenhagen in the freezer? Why do I have tuna cans in the freezer? Why do I have glow sticks in the refrigerator? Why do I have tennis balls in the freezer? What? Okay, the two that are most interesting to me right now are tennis balls and a tuna can. We'll begin with you, L.O.B. Yes. Why do you have tuna cans in the freezer? I actually learned this old trick in college because the tuna smells so bad. And I recycle them, you know, and I keep the recycling underneath the sink. I don't take it out every day because it's just lazy. So if you freeze it.
Then, you know, the smell goes away. Does it? Yeah. It doesn't smell up your freezer. It kind of like, I think because it's too cold. Yeah. So you mean you take the can and you just put it right in there? I rinse it out and then I put it in the freezer. And you're telling me that if you rinse it out and put it in the trash can? It stinks. It stinks to high heaven and it stays in there. Why don't you put it in a glad bag or something? Ziploc. Why would I use plastic? She doesn't use plastic bags. You could just walk it out at the curb. I could. I could do that. But then even my recycling bin, I want it out there at the last minute. So my trash goes out on Monday morning. Sunday night, I'm going to throw those tuna cans in the recycling bin, take it down to the end of the driveway. We do the same thing with chicken carcasses. How's that? Like if you get a whole chicken and you've got all the bones left over, we'll freeze those bones until it's trash day. And then I pack them in Jasper's lunch, make soup. That's right. So you get a whole chicken. Yeah, let's say you get a rotisserie chicken and you get all the meat off the bones. And then instead of, you know, let's say it's Thursday and your trash day is all the way next Wednesday. You don't want to put it out in the trash can so your trash can is stinking to high heavens. That's smart. Yeah. That's smart. That's a lot of work. Tuna cans. I guess that's smart. I mean, personally, I've rinsed out tuna cans and thrown them away and it hasn't been a big deal. Yeah, me too. Now, if you...
Don't rinse it and put it in the trash. That's awful. I'm like a bloodhound. Really, really good sense of smell. Tell us about weird things that you keep in your fridge or your freezer. Sienna, you put tennis balls in the fridge? Freezer. Why? Because my dog zipper is obsessed. with tennis balls. She'll sniff out tennis balls in the garage in a sealed tennis container with a seal. She'll find it. And I'm not kidding. She won't stop whining until she gets it. And then when she gets the tennis ball, she goes right to our pool and throws it in the pool so that the current carries it so that she can fetch it again. And this dog is like, I mean, if there's a tennis ball anywhere to be found, she'll whine and make noise and not leave you alone. So her dream in life is to have somebody throw her a tennis ball. Her dream in life is to be owned by John McEnroe. I mean, middle of the night, it doesn't matter. She will find a tennis ball if there is a tennis ball to be found. So she can't smell it if it's in the freezer. It's the only place she can't find it. Even a sealed container, like I said. Never been opened tennis balls. Vacuum sealed. She finds it. I'm not kidding. Do you put it in something in the freezer? No. There's a drawer. I put them in the drawer. I don't put any food in that drawer. Is there slobber on it? Yeah.
I don't put any food in that drawer. It's okay. It's okay. What's the big deal? I got no problem with it. It's a dog drawer. It means there's slobber where things can go. But things don't go there, so it's okay. You don't put just raw something in your freezer. It's all in a package. I have to hide it so she doesn't see me put it in there either, or else she'll stand at the refrigerator. Oh, my gosh. Wow. 5701949. She's a detective. M1, Brittany from Oceanside. Yeah. What do you keep in your freezer? I'm chaotic. It's a beta fish. I wasn't ready. I was not prepared either. Her beta fish probably died and she didn't want to see it go. My husband and I were in love with this fish. He was deployed in Afghanistan and it died and I was crushed. And I wanted us to be able to bury it when he got back. So you have a fish sitting in your freezer. Can you imagine friends come over for a dinner party and at the end of the night.
You go, let's have some ice cream. And your friend Tanya goes, I'll get it. And then opens up the freezer and sees... What is Gilly doing in there? What's Gilly? Is it in a Ziploc? Yeah, with a little bit of water. Oh my, he froze him? He's shallow gray. He's in an ice cube. Do you ever just take it out and pretend he's alive? Oh, hi, Gilly. Casey Anthony just called and said, you're weird. Yeah, said you're a monster. Yeah, Casey Anthony just called and said, you're a monster. Jeffrey Dahmer's like, I didn't even keep that in my head. That's disgusting. Yeah, Jeffrey Dahmer just wrote and said, that's disgusting. You could freeze a goldfish, and then it'll thaw out and be alive still. No. No, you can't. No. We should do it on the air. You do that with a B, and then you tie a string around it. You can't freeze a goldfish. Yeah, it preserves the fish. Thaw it out. It goes into a hibernation state.
He's like Han Solo in Return of the Jedi. And then you thaw him out and he saves everything. The goldfish is just like Han Solo. Evacuation process complete. Well, the good thing is the goldfish won't remember it because they've got a really short memory. Oh, look. We're thawing out the goldfish because we put it in a cryogenic freezer and now we'll thaw it out and we'll be able to enjoy him again. In fact, I want my grandchildren to be able to experience my favorite goldfish. So I'm freezing it for 400 years and then they can thaw it out and put it in a bowl and it'll be alive. He's insane. I'm just saying. Try it. I say do it, Jay. No, don't do it. I don't know. I'm scared. Don't risk it, poor fish. You can't just say things, Jay. Hey, I've read it a hundred times. I've just never personally done it. I know you can do it with a B.
With a bee, you can freeze a bee and then you tie a string around it. No, you can't. Yeah. Oh, yeah, I've seen it done. We don't freeze them all the way. It slows them down. You knock them out. Like crickets. It's terrible. How do you knock out a bee? And then when the bee comes to... You hit them with a little hammer on top of the head. A toothpick. You come up behind them with a little ball ping that is as small as a bee's head. A blackjack. What you do is you want to hand him between the head and the shoulder. So he gets right here. No. Knock him out cold. It's temporary, you know, temporarily knocks him out. Then you put him on a string and then you got to be on a leash. Oh, my God. I'm not saying you should do that. This is the best. I need you guys to prepare yourselves for what's coming next. It's worse? It's worse than that? Than a fish? Oh, my gosh. A fish is a one. Oh, wow. What's this? A hundred. Oh! I'm going to throw it. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh. You might. I might? M1 bug killer from PB. Yes. What is in your freezer right now? I have two placentas. Woods just took his headphones off. Sienna threw a blanket over her head. And L.O.B. has leaned back in her chair with her arms crisscrossed over her chest. Has looked to say, I've passed on to the netherworld.
Bye-bye. She's waving bye-bye. L.O.B. is waving bye-bye. Oh. My gosh. Oh. My gosh. Placenta sandwich. J. L.O.B. Sleepy mask. Placenta omelet. Fertilizer. Take it to the fair. The deep fried. It's placenta pocket. It's a placenta pocket. You just put it in the microwave in the little sheet. Like a placenta tart. Put it right in the toaster. A popcenta. I know that this is a ridiculous question, Bug Killer, but why do you have two placentas in the freezer? Well, they belong to my daughter. Of course they do.
When they were born, my wife wanted to keep them and bring them home and bury them. A lot of people do that, actually. Bury them. Bury them. A lot of people are crazy. Yeah, Jay did it. I did it. Jay's crazy. Fair enough. But the freezer is where food goes. Yeah, sometimes they take them now, too, and they make little capsules for the mom to eat. Shut up! Shut up! Because it's supposed to make the mom transition through. Five years later, they're still in my freezer. Oh. How many years? Five. Bury them in the yard. Five years later. What are you waiting for? Do you see them every time you go get like a fish stick? And so a few months ago, my refrigerator broke and they lost it. And there was blood everywhere. Okay, goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye. Can you see them here? I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. My mouth is filled with saliva. I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. I just hung up. Mikey's broken. I feel...
Like right now, there is a close-up on my face with a fisheye lens. I'm laughing hysterically, and I'm wearing a straight jacket. And a fisheye lens. That was the worst call I've ever heard. Of all calls that have ever been taken on radio, that's the worst. Oh, God. Wow. Thawed out placenta. Shut! Shut! Your stinky mouth. That's a man that loves his wife for allowing that. My wife says that. I'm like, yeah, sign these. I'm out. I just got a one bedroom in PB. I'm out. Because obviously you're insane and I don't want to be married to an insane person. I had no idea when we wed that you're certifiably insane. You're a serial killer. L.O.B. has a plastic wastebasket up to her mouth because she feels like any second. Why do I keep picturing it? Stop picturing it. Bliss into skin coat. That laugh. Leatherface just faxed in and said, that's the most disgusting thing. Ed Gein just wrote us an email and said, y'all are gross. Y'all are grossing me out today. You're really grossing me out today. Yeah, Ed Gein wrote, can you guys please change topics? LOB has legitimate...
We're looking at it. Legitimate. Look at my hair. Legitimate. Legitimate. Goosebumps. Goosebumps. Hair and hair raised up. It stood on his hand. Not that. I don't want to know any more freezer things. Really? Yeah, you ruined it. Look at all those. Holy cow. M1 Watchdog from San Diego. What did your mother collect in the freezer? Owls. Or Hawk. Oh, my God. How do they keep getting worse? How is it that so many macabre people? He's like, what's the guy? Bates. Norman Bates. Norman Bates. Norman Bates just walked in here in a dress and went, that's really weird, you guys. Did you poop your pants every time you went to the freezer? You guys, I just want to say, can you please change the topic? This is the weirdest glass I've ever heard. Owls. Oh, it does? Really? It does. It does. So she used to collect them from a friend that used to make like... Owl stew. No, no, no. They wanted the feathers. She had a friend that did like swap meet. Of course. So she would carry a bundle of...
Paper bags or something in the trunk of her car. So anytime she saw one on the side of the road, she'd scoop it up for her. But she would keep them in the freezer until her friend got them. I came home to visit one time, and I wanted an ice cream. I went into the freezer, and there was a baby possum in a plastic bag, frozen in the freezer, right next to the hog. Eyes and all. No joke. I'm rocking back and forth. I'm rocking back and forth. So when did you put mom in a home? Oh my God. Never did it. Hey, I'll tell you what's worse than that. Biting into your fudgesicle and it's got that faint owl taste. But he's never had ice cream again. Hey mom, is this hawk or owl? I can't tell. It's got that aftertaste of either hawk or owl. But I can't decide. Which? Damie. Norman Bates. Damie. Norman Bates. Thank you for the call. I guess. I just pictured the possum. There are so many different types of people in the world. Is this Brooke? Yeah, yeah, hi. Oh, Brooke. Brooke, tell us about the person you worked with. Well, when I worked at the mall, I used to, when I was going to college, I was a janitor, and she...
was on my cleaning crew, and she had all these pythons, like python snakes, and she had some kind of big dog, like a German shepherd or something. And one time her dog had a litter, and like half of them died. Oh, no. So she would put the dead puppies in the freezer, and she thought there was nothing wrong with the snake food. Pupsicles. Pups. She fed him to the snake. Let me just say this, and I think it goes without saying, but that woman that you worked with and I are very different people. Well, I think it's also safe to say that she may have murdered somebody in her lifetime as well. There was anything wrong with it. Of course not. You crazy people do. What would be wrong for cycling? And she had, like, little kids and stuff. She'd, like, laugh about it. Yeah, they're, like, little frozen little popsicles. I thought I was weird because I kept, like, medicine in the fridge or snuff. I thought I was weird because I moisturize. Right. Seriously. This woman took dead puppies and froze them for her pythons. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Love you, Mike. Thank you. Love you. Oh, boy.
I thought people were going to say, like, screws. My screwdriver. Lighters. I keep my lighter and that keeps it fresh. I save the popsicle sticks. I keep a washcloth in there for when I have a fever. Right. Yeah, that was the kind of weird things I expected. I don't like owls. Placenta. Owls and placenta. Did you say owls? No, owls. Dead owls scraped from the side of the road. Well, we have a large freezer. For our grandparents. Yes, yes. Grammy and Grampy. Grammy and Grampy. Every once in a while, we like to visit Grammy and Grampy. I have Michael Jackson in my face. Yes, God, dude. Oh, my goodness. Oh, wow. People are something else. This is what is so strange about it to me. You realize that we're walking around with them every day. We're having beers with them, meeting them for lunch. No big deal. Yeah. You know, the dude in your office who seems like a perfectly normal guy who comes to dress every day to work in a business suit could have owls in his freezer. You just don't know it. I worked at a restaurant down the Jersey Shore and the big thing there was snapper soup. And I didn't really put two and two together. I didn't really know what it was. And walked into the walk-in freezer and there was belly up frozen turtles in there. Snapper turtles. In the walk-in freezer. I was like...
How do you recover and continue on? And then I had to serve it. I guess I never, I thought it was like red snapper, like a fish. I didn't know it was a snapping turtle. And so I had to keep serving it. Every time I served a cup of it to someone, I was like. Snapper. There was a brand new Bizarre Foods yesterday that I watched. And. You just call it being home. Yeah. Just say watching TV. Keeping your eyes open. I call it TV. You call it keeping your eyes open. Being awake. Yeah. He... Oh, no. He was in Ecuador. You guys know what mountain oysters are? Yes. Balls. Cow balls. Cow balls. Really? He went to a place that that was their specialty. Now, it's one thing if that's your specialty. It's another thing if the place that you're going to enjoy the specialty is made of cement.
And has approximately 35-year-old Fanta insignia on the side of it from 35 years ago. Fanta soda. Can you get a picture of this place? Okay. Made of cement. Old Fanta soda. Rickety fence. To get into the place, there was no door. There was a fence to get into this restaurant. A fence to get into the restaurant. And he goes in and they bring him out this big bowl. And it's got red broth. And it's got, you know, it's cow ball soup. Now, as the person that he brought with him is ordering it, he had ordered grande. And the guy said, and he says to the guy, he goes, wait, wait, wait. How about medium? Can they bring us medium? And he tells him, I don't know how you say medium in Spanish. Mediano. Mediano? But he said that. And they go, okay.
To their word, they brought medium sized cow balls in the soup and he put his spoon in and he brought it out and he said, hmm, this is interesting. I've never had he's had it tons of times. He's a bizarre foods guy, but he'd never had it with the membranes left on because Woods just lost his body. His soul left his body because he says that part in most countries is not edible. They don't do that. But here in Ecuador, you know, and in Rome. Oh, boy. And so he tried it, and he said, that's quite barnyard-y. But you know what was good? When they prepared it ceviche style. Oh, shut up. Just lime juice to cook it. Shut up. Oh, yeah. Sunshine has a temper sometimes, but he's not all bad. Mikey. He's a real beef castle. 949key at gmail.com. What? All right, I guess. I refuse to be a conspiracy theorist. Lauren. I scoured my house for anything gold that I could maybe just pawn. I don't have anything. Woods. I'll eat a bag of cotton. Sienna. I have a hard time going to sleep, and so I've been to numerous doctors. Finally, I was like, that's it. Someone told me I should get hypnotized, and so I was like, I'm all in. And Jay. I am an okay surfer. On FM 94.9. Sienna, what's a... This thing, the Facebook thing, I've been hearing about it kind of everywhere. It's a pretty big story. The murder plot revealed on Facebook. This is disgusting. What is it? This woman in Indiana, she wanted to get a little dirt on her husband as they were preparing for a pretty messy divorce. Things were not going well with them. So she made a fake account pretending to be a teenage girl, asked to be his friend on Facebook. He accepted, of course, creep. And they started...
They started chatting. And he was revealing a lot, like how he wanted to have his wife killed. And little did he know, this teenage girl he was talking to through Facebook was his wife. She had just found like a random picture of a teenage girl, put it online as if it was her, came up with a name, Jessica Studebaker. She did this last month. This is a 29-year-old woman. The husband's 38, David. And he actually said that he had put a GPS device on his wife's car she didn't know so that they would know where she was at all times and that he was going to have her whacked. Why would dude not be suspicious of some Jessica Studebaker out of nowhere who goes, want to be my friend? Why would he not go? Who are you? Shouldn't have any other friends. Right. Right. And he allegedly asked this girl to find a, quote, gangbanger at her school that would be willing to do the job for $10,000. Oh, yeah. Perfectly normal. Perfectly healthy. Who? What kind of dummy? Whack job? Weirdo is that? Imagine being the wife reading that, being like, there's a GPS device in my car. My husband's trying to kill me. You're going to kill me? I have a defense if I'm the defense team. Okay. I have a defense. Me too.
I bet we have the same defense. You first. He knew it was her. I was messing with her. I knew it was her. She's psychotic. She's a psycho. I knew she made it fake. That's it. In fact, as I'm saying it, I'm actually starting to think maybe that's the deal. I believe it. Let me tell you. If the rule is beyond reasonable doubt. That's reasonable doubt to me. There's one provable point, though. The GPS is really on her car. That's true, but... Yeah, good point. That's true, but... That's true, but... That's true, but chances that it's still on that car. If it was ever there. Is that Perry Mason in there? Chances she plants one. Thinking like a woman now. They have kids, too, and he wanted her dead so that he could take the kids. Well, then you know it's wrong. No guy can take care of kids. He was arrested on Friday. Sorry, I'm projecting. I'm projecting. He was arrested on Friday and charged in federal court with illegally installing the GPS device. Oh, there you go. Clearly, he did. And officials are saying he could face some much more serious crimes. Yeah. Charges. What women do with kids to me, that's a miracle.
The fact that my wife listens to that, crying, that long. I'm the biggest wuss. I can't handle it. I can't handle it. I can't handle it. We've got good tune-out abilities. She said that. She tunes them out. It makes me insane. It came in handy for me in college. I'd show up at class just somewhere else. Here's who's sick at my house. Me, Rebecca, Anita. Jake? No, I'm still reeling from Jake. Still reeling from Jay saying, mm. Ew. Didn't even hear it. Ryan and Jake. In fact, the only one that is not sick is Luke, who's on the phone right now. Hi, Luke. Hey, what's up? Just gonna leave me here and vomit. Well, what do you want me to do? Bring you to work with me? Yeah. Great. Maybe you can do a father-son movie to spend some time together. How dare you. Maybe for once. See you Saturday, I guess. Listen.
Luke, first of all, you know that daddy works during the week, and then on Saturday, yeah, it's family day. Family day. That's the day that we all hang out. Unless I'm giving my testimony somewhere, you know that that is... Yeah. Everybody's really sick here, and I'm not because I have the body of a champion. I think my father actually might be Jay Isbell. Yep. That's ridiculous. Any chance of that? No, there is no chance of that. Any chance? Didn't you guys used to work together back in the day? Yes, we did. We didn't know each other a while. Yes, but your father is not Jay. I'm your dad. I did walk by Rebecca one time. Oh, my gosh. That's true. That could be my dad. Because, dude, you've been sick. Mom's been sick. All the other kids. Who's the kid in my room? Ryan. Ryan. He's sick as a dog. Twin brother. Yeah, who's the other one running around? Nude. Jake. Jake. Nude. Who's the Hungarian brother? It's locked in her room right now. That's Anita. She's sick as a dog. Happy birthday to her yesterday. Literally. Yesterday was her birthday. Are you going to take care of me? I am the father. I am the father.
You're going to take care of me? Great. I'm not going to take care of you. Your mom is taking care of you. You're fine. You're sick. Yeah, I know. But, you know, we got Claudia coming over today. Okay. You'll be fine. What time do you get off work? Every time. Every time you call, you ask that question. You know perfectly well that I get off at 10. Some days you come home. Some days you're doing bits with people. I don't know. I just want my dad home. We're going to take care of son. What time are you going to be over, dad? I'll be home later. Jay! How dare you? Mike, what time are you going to be home? Mike. Get off the... Thank you, Luke. He's a good kid. Yeah, he is. Rebecca did look at a picture of Jay once. That's right. So it's possible. Knock you right up. I get you pregnant just looking at a picture of me. You come in the same room as me, you don't get pregnant. That's right. I'm in your zip code. Hey, be careful, ladies. That's right. See, and I'd run a DNA test if I was you. Never know. You never do know.
Sage looks just like her dad. She looks a lot like me too. Thank you. LB, you looking plump? Yeah. Anybody in the Booz Allen Hamilton building, if you're a woman, better go on the pill. You might be pregnant. Because if I see you, you'll instantly become with child. With child. It's instant. It's a miracle. When I was little, we had family reunions at his place in Santa Maria. And at night, we'd sit around the living room, and my aunts and uncles would retell outrageous old stories, usually at the same time. That's when Grandpa would give me the signal, and we'd slip out for a drive to get Mother's cookies. We both loved the circus animals for the pink frosting and the way the round sprinkles crunch on your teeth. On the way back, Grandpa would take the long way home. And we'd eat cookies and listen to nothing but big band jazz and the sound of the ocean. I know it's simple. But Grandpa and I both liked simple. And now, at every family reunion, that's the story I like to tell. Over and over again. Mother's cookies. There's a memory in every bite. At Vons, we love summer. Isn't that nice? Tonight's 8 o'clock album is Meows! Meows! Absolution.
So, here's the deal. Terrell Pryor, former quarterback of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Now, I'd say former because he just left. It's gone. But, you know, he was taking stuff for playing there. Signing stuff and selling it. Mm-hmm. Now, it raised the question, should college athletes get paid? And I say, absolutely not. Really? Never. Really? Wow, that's weird. I'll tell you why. Because, well, the same reason, the same reason I was saying how we live in this sort of a, we live in sort of a entitlement era. You know, they go to school and they may sell merchandise for them. They may sell all kinds of stuff for them. But the bottom line is that it's a privilege to be able to play for that school. It's also a burden.
Yeah. If it were a burden, then they wouldn't do it. No, they will because of chance of riches and fame. Chance of. Okay. A chance. Right. Very small chance. Right. But it isn't a job. Oh, yeah, it is. Yeah. No, it's not. Mikey, damn straight. They work 50 times harder than any of us sitting here. If it was a job, well, Woods, there are people that for fun run track. Right. They're doing far more than we are. Right. But they're not generating the money that these kids are generating, bro. And they're not full-time students. I understand. I understand that they're generating a lot of money for the university. The guy that runs track can also go get a job if he wants to. These kids can't. Well, no. Yeah. NCAA will not allow them to get jobs. So wait a minute. Even if you haven't had a scholarship. Right. Well, if you're a scholarship player, you can't get a job. Neither was the track runner, though, either. My brother was a scholarship track runner. He can't. Right. But if you are a scholarship kid, that means they're paying for you. Yeah, they're paying your school and your room and board. Right. Right. Okay. So why should they get paid? Because what they generate is ridiculous. And this is why this stuff happens. Here's the deal. Think about it this way. They're already getting paid. Why not make it legal? They're already getting paid. Illegally. Exactly. Make it legal. They're getting paid on the sly.
Right. It doesn't have to be. And it isn't equal. It doesn't have to be. It isn't equal. And when you have a job, it needs to be equal pay. Does it? Well, I mean, in a job like that, some of them wouldn't get paid at all if they were doing it on the sly. And that's how Aaron or Terrell Pryor was getting paid. Yeah. Sly. On the sly. Sure. So what you're saying is, well, just make it so it's not illegal to do things like that. No, that's not what I'm saying. Come up with something. A stipend. Yeah. They need a stipend. They can't have a job. What are they supposed to do for Doe? So you think they do that with everybody? Lacrosse, too? No. Why? Because lacrosse doesn't, like, okay, the Pac-10 just signed a deal. $3 billion deal. $3 billion. These kids don't get a nickel. Is that fair? Yes. It is. Yes. Wow. Because those kids, I mean, if you were to say to that kid, if you were to say to Terrell Pryor, hey, listen, Terrell. Well, and this is what we are saying. Terrell Pryor, by the way. I don't believe, was doing what he was doing because they weren't paying him. He was doing what he was doing because he wanted extra scratch and he was exploiting who he is. We'll just call it scratch, not extra scratch, because he can't get any scratch. So it's just scratch. Okay. Needed money. And that is the story of all scholarship college football players. No. Yeah, it is. They don't get paid.
Dude, but some of them don't – some of them have a background that allows them to get money. Like my parents gave me – I wasn't a scholarship athlete, but I got money from my parents. I also worked. These kids cannot do it. It's already happening. Let's make it legal. Okay, but Woods, if that's the case, those kids also wouldn't be getting an education from Ohio State. Well, yeah. They should consider themselves fortunate, not – entitled to more a scholarship doesn't take care of everything a lot of these kids don't come they're not they don't come from wealthy families or even families that can afford anything so they're they're fighting tooth and nail just to be able to do other things besides those kids are lucky they have athletic ability congratulations that they're lucky but it doesn't take you know the school's damn lucky to have because they just got a three billion dollar deal that they see none of dude sounds like we're all in agreement no we're not You think they should be getting paid. I think they should get a stipend. Yeah, a stipend. We call it a stipend. Yes. M1 Yan from Kearney Mesa. Hey, I'm actually a rugby player who plays for UC Santa Barbara. And since my sport, club sport, I actually have to pay to play. Now, I know we're talking probably on the lines of intercollegiate athletes.
Coming from when I have to spend my time and I have to dish out my parents' money just to play my sport, when I look at the other bigger sports that are actually dishing out the, you know, reeling in the big bucks, at Santa Barbara it's mainly the volleyball program, the basketball program, the soccer program. I look at those guys and the amount of time that they spend, and it's about... I'd say maybe more time-wise, but regardless, I know the point that Mike is trying to make with that it's a privilege to play with the school. Time consumption is work, period. Oh, yeah, for sure. Hey, listen, you don't have to. Yeah, you do, bro. If you want to keep your scholarship and get an education, you absolutely have to. Yeah, but I mean, if we're speaking about like, hey, man, these guys, nobody's going to deny the fact that these guys work hard to play football. Nobody's going to deny that. Let them get jobs then. The NCAA should let them get jobs. So now they're going to have a job. Now that, now listen, they won't let them. I don't have a problem with any of the, I don't have a problem arguing. I don't think that player should be paid extra money. However.
I think that any intercollegiate program that is reeling in substantial amounts of money should be giving heavy, and I mean heavy, scholarships to pay almost full tuition room and board for the athletes that are playing in the big sports. Because not every athlete is on a scholarship in their sport. However, if they are playing with a program, that is, and they should be. Only if they're playing a sport, that is. I get what you're saying, Ian, and I've got to move on. I've got to take some more calls, and thank you for the call. M1 Joe from Chula Vista. What's up? I used to work in college athletics. I worked in the compliance department, which was college athletics. I mean, on top of the five to six hours a day that they put into practice, giving up so much of their weekends or whatever to play in their contests.
For big-time sports like this, they have to do them. They have to go do community service stuff. I mean, it is a job. And at the end of the day, I mean... It's a job that they're privileged to be able to do. They are. And they decide to do it. They don't have to. Yes, they do. No, no, no, no. Meaning they don't have to play football. If they want an education, they do. In some of those cases, they have no other way to have an education. Dude, they're getting a real awesome... a real awesome education not if they don't play football pal right so with the fact that they do don't you think that that that you go oh man that's pretty cool these guys get an education so an academic kid so a kid that gets an academic scholarship he goes to class and kicks ass and gets good grades yeah okay so the guy that gets an athletic scholarship has to not only kick ass and get good grades to maintain his standing on the team he's still got to put in the six seven eight nine ten hours a day that requires him to maintain that scholarship the academic kid doesn't have to Yeah, but the kid that's the football player, but the kid that is the football player, and see, that's a conversation that I'd be willing to have as to whether or not these kids should be allowed to have a job and everything, but to me, that seems like the deal. You couldn't work and do all that to you. I know. You can't do a full load. It'd be tough, which is why a lot of those kids, Brian Bosworth, you know what his job was in college? Sitting in his Corvette watching an oil rig go up and down for $500 a day from a shady booster. That was his job. That's how he made his spending money. Wow.
There's got to be a way to do it and do it on the up and up. I mean, if they're making... University of Texas signed a $300 million deal with ESPN that they get. And the Colt McCoy that goes out and takes snaps on Saturday doesn't see a nickel of that. He gets to be Colt McCoy at the University of Texas and get drafted by a big franchise in the NFL. And possibly break his neck on Sunday and put his life on the line. That is the thing that he fully does with every... He dreams of it. Sure. You know, I mean, you're making it sound like these guys are crab fishermen. No, no. And they're out there risking life and limb and that they're out there. I mean, listen, they want to. I mean, it's a privilege. Of course they want to. They're getting a free education. They get to be Colt McCoy. They get to be stars. No matter where and tear they put on their body, they should be getting paid. Absolutely, man. And there's no guarantee they're going to the next level. Hillary is in the studio. Hi, Hill. Colt McCoy sounds like a porn star's name to me. It does a little bit. It doesn't sound like a real name. It also sounds like it could be a new pistol that's just come out from Colt. Or a beer. How great is that? Or a Pixar character. The Texas quarterback's name was Colt McCoy. It doesn't get better than that, dude. I could definitely see a poster that says Wanted back in 1876. Colt McCoy. Train robbery. Yeah, 100%.
Stagecoach Robert. Stagecoach Robert, Colt McCoy. What do you got coming up, Hill? I actually checked my email before I came in here and got a request for Bad Brains via email. So I'm going to play that. If anyone wants to email me a request, hillary at fm949st.com. The Strokes, I'll get on some Arcade Fire and something from one of our indie jam bands that rocked our faces off on Sunday. Nice. Yeah. There you go. Lovely and talented Hillary is up next. About the music all day and night. FM 94.9. It's about the music.
