Mikey Show here on a Friday with a lot. We are ready to go, man. It's Friday and that is good news. We got so much stuff today. The studio audience that's in here today, they're in here on a good day because we have a couple of the members of Switchfoot that are going to be coming into the studio to hang out and talk about the bro-am that's going on tomorrow. And so we'll be doing that. And we got lots of stuff to talk about. Plus, We're going to be doing Wheel of Pain at 7.30. Now, this is a brand new thing. Wheel of Pain is a brand new thing. Jay, would you like to bring the Wheel of Pain into the studio, please? There it is. And you can place it right here. And the way that the Wheel of Pain works is, as you can see, there are very painful things on there except for two positions.
Or is it one position? Two. Two positions are good. Okay. So one thing that could be good is get a foot rub. That would be good, right? Not for the other person. Oh, yeah, I know. The person having to give the foot rub, it's kind of disgusting, right? And then get a back rub. Yeah. That's another thing on there. But then the other things on the wheel of pain are three shots from a BB gun, three shocks from a dog collar, three drops. Of hot sauce to the tongue. Three bag tag shots. Now those hurt. Those are the shots to the boys. That makes me laugh hard. Also, three days with black painted fingernails. Which is just kind of humiliating because you've got to walk around that way. And three hippity hop hits is also on there. And what we'll do is we will literally... Let me see here. Let me make sure it's on stable ground. We will literally spin the Wheel of Pain. Had we just done it, it would have been three drops of hot sauce. Now, the way that we play the Wheel of Pain is real easy. I am going to... One of the things that happened on our Facebook page, and if you want to join our Facebook page, we would love for you to do that. Facebook.com slash Mikey Show is...
Was it Facebook? Or was it just me and you texting? No, it was on Facebook. It was on Facebook. But Woods and I started to make up fake names of bands. Yeah. A lot of M1s joined in. A lot of M1s joined in. It was a lazy Sunday. Yes. And I even made up the fake venue. Yes. You know, like the Pearly Heart. Yeah. Like you say, hey, tonight at the Pearly Heart at 8 o'clock, it's going to be free admission. And downtown. Pony Brown is playing. Yeah. And opening for them are the Pinata Chiefs. Right. The Pinata Chiefs. We'll be there. And we were just making up names. And so what we discovered is that there's a lot of bands that you've never heard of. You've never heard of. I mean, if I said them right now, there may be a couple of people out there that might know who these bands are. But I mean, they're obscure. But they've got great band names, you know. And so what we'll do is we'll bring Jay. into the studio, and it'll be Jay and Woods, and what we'll do is we'll go back and forth between them. And I'm going to give you the name of the band, and you have to tell me if it's real or if it's fake. True or false. True or false. Right. And if it is a real band, you're off the hook. Well, if you guess right. Right. If you guess right, and that's a real band or a fake band, you're good to go. If you get it wrong, you've got to spin the wheel of pain.
And the Wheel of Pain will be a fixture here on the Mikey Show for eternity. Just so you know. We will be doing that Wheel of Pain all the time. Also, today, we will do Pick a Scene at 8 o'clock. And that scene is going to be what we do is each week now on Mondays. Mondays are a great day around the Mikey Show because we draw two names out of a basket. It's all the members of the Mikey Show. We draw two names at random. This week, we drew Sienna and L.O.B. And after we do that, we go into another basket and we randomly draw a scene. Now, the scene that we drew on Monday was the scene from Titanic where Jack draws the naked picture of Rose. And today, Sienna will play Rose. And the role of Jack will be played by Lauren. I gotta believe it. And so that will happen at 8 o'clock. Of course, this entire thing will be filmed. Don't know if it will be able to go on YouTube, but we will film it. She's just making me want it. And it's going to be fantastic. And the guys from Switchfoot coming in at 9. So it's going to be a big day around here at the Mikey Show.
570-1949 is our number. You want to call us and you can text us 949mikey at gmail.com. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I'm 41. Woodsy is 35. He's our sports guy. Lauren O'Brien, otherwise known as L-O-B, is our assistant producer. Our news girl is Sienna. She's 26. Jay is our producer. He sits through a pane of glass. I look at him through glass. Okay. And so the folks that sit there by that window. Hopefully don't think I'm staring at him the whole time. I got to look at Jay. Jay is 47 years old. He'll be 48 next week. I know it. And our phone screener is Chris. Today, word of the day. You got to know this word. The word of the day is cherry. I will say that word sometime between now and 10. And when I say it, caller nine gets a pair of tickets to see the Foo Fighters. And we're also going to throw in a pair of Ultimate Ears by Logitech. Very, very cool. They're noise-isolating headsets. They're great. They've got a built-in mic. A few things that are big in the news this morning. Of course, one of them was late in the show yesterday. Anthony Weiner.
Announcing his resignation. Yeah, after 10 days of trying to hold on to his job for dear might, after he admitted to the sexting scandal, he has resigned. Have you seen my wiener? Now, he pulled out. This is an example of... I can't believe it. He wasn't in a race. He wasn't in a political race. He wasn't running for office. He fell out of his position. The guy was in and out, in and out, in and out. No, he wasn't, Jay. Sometimes he was in, sometimes he was out. No, he wasn't. He was always working. Yeah, but he just kind of ran out of steam. He was like, eh, stamina. He blew it. Kind of lost his luster. Yeah. You know? Yeah. Wow. That happened. Not really standing firm anymore. Okay, well, here's the deal. Oh, my God. Talk about a culture change. Hey, listen, if this had been a resignation that happened in front of the public a few years back, and by a few years, I mean, like, even 10. You would have heard a politician get up there and talk, and there would have been silent. Silence. Not in our culture now. Now we've got yahoos. Listen to this. I'm here today to again apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment I have caused. I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife, Huma. I had hoped to be able to continue the work that the citizens of my district
You know what I already don't like about this? I had hoped to be able to keep fighting for you, blah, blah, blah. Now, if that's followed up with, but I ruined it, great. But the implication is, I've been pressured, and so I have to drop out. And all I did... was sell-dong a couple of people. Porn stars and stuff like that. That's not okay. Underage girls. The distraction that I have created. There you go. Thank you, Wiener. Has made that impossible. So today I am announcing my resignation from Congress. Yeah! So my colleague... Oh my gosh! Now, the dude that yelled that out. Oh no. Think that guy's ever looked at porno on his computer before? Did you ever sell dong before? Oh. Better have a clean slate there, pal. No doubt. Glass houses. My neighbors can choose a new representative. And most importantly, that my wife and I continue to heal from the damage I have. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. No. To repeat, most importantly, most importantly, so that I can continue to heal.
from the damage that I have caused. That's a mob mentality. Oh, my gosh. I heard that it was another radio show had somebody in the crowd. Yeah. I'm sure. I'm sure. You know who. Yep. Well, it's a sign of the times, you know? Sign of the times. Don't worry, though. Wiener has been offered another job as a... From a porn publisher. Oh. Larry Flynn. Yeah, he said, you know, made the job offer right after the resignation. Did he accept the job? No, he hasn't responded. Oh. Let's see. Philip Rivers is in the news today. Why? What's he? Oh, I just, I found this awesome, awesome clip of him talking about. What the Chargers were missing. And, you know, earlier in the interview, he was saying how stir crazy he's going. He's losing his mind. They're used to being at the building, you know, and they're used to working out together and just being in that football mentality. And he's losing his mind right now. But they're out throwing and, you know, at high schools and stuff. So this is him talking about what the Chargers were missing last year. You know, it's tough because you look at the stat sheet.
you'd think we had a great year, but that's why stats don't always tell the whole story. Under offense, we turned the ball over in some crucial situations early. Obviously, we gave up some big plays in the special teams, and we just couldn't win those close games early. We dug ourselves another hole and couldn't quite scratch and claw to get ourselves back in the postseason. So nobody wants to hear it. I know our fans don't want to hear it, but I think we can be better from it. and learn from it, and this offseason might be good for us. There's always been a lot of hype surrounding our team, whether it be people picking us to go to the Super Bowl or talking about how talented we are. That's all kind of gone away, so we ought to be humbled and hungry and ready to get back after it. I don't think it's Phillip Rivers' deal, but we've heard that each season now for multiple seasons, and I don't blame Phillip Rivers for that. No. You know, because that guy, I mean, there's nobody more fiery than that guy. Well, and there's nobody better. I mean, you know, when your team gets you in a 7-0, 14-0 hole because of special teams, and then you got to go out and try to compete. When you have the number one defense, the number one offense, it ain't you, man. It ain't on you, brother. It's, you know, it goes a little bit higher than that. Yeah. Well, we, you know, we were talking about it. Woodsy and I were talking about it before the show started. And Woodsy said.
I hope that he doesn't go the way of Dan Marino. That would be such a shame. Yeah, dude. He's such a good player. He's one of the good guys. When you think Eli Manning has a Super Bowl and Phillip Rivers doesn't, it's ridiculous. Anything going on with the CBA? Actually, yeah. There was some breaking news this morning in the collective bargaining agreement that there's a lot of pushback. Now, you would think the pushback would be from the players. It's not. It's from the owners. They were getting close. Now the owners have waffled a little bit, and they're saying, you know what, man, this is reminding us of 2006. 2006? The last time they kind of revised it, and they said, you know what, man, we want to make sure we get this thing right. So they've put a new target date on when everything needs to be done, July 14th, and they're saying if they can get it done no later than July 14th, then... Everything, you know, the free agents can be signed. They can all report to camp and do a whole deal. Dude, here's the problem. In a normal season, they're trying to do that now. Yeah. Okay? And you still have guys that don't show up to camp because they were picked so high. Right. And you still have holdouts. And then you have guys that are signing right before. What about now? Right.
Camps are supposed to start at the end of June, the beginning of July. And so now if they say July 14th, even if they got something done July 14th, so we have to start the clock then on getting guys signed? Yep. Because you know they're going to hold out. Well, right. This is a stupid season already. I'm already irritated about the season. Well, you know, it's funny. In the Phillip Rivers interview, too, he was talking about they had asked him. you know, who's going to be affected by this the most? Is it the rookies? He goes, you know, the rookies are going to be affected. He goes, but it's the second year players, man. The fans. Well, yeah, the fans. But those are the guys that need to be in there, man. They need to be honing their craft. The rookies, they're going to be a rookie anyway. So they're going to be starstruck and they're going to be, you know, confused. It's those second year guys, man, with one year under their belt that they're just not going to know what the hell's going on, man. Kind of like how we feel. Yeah. It's brutal. Yesterday, the defense started in the Casey Anthony trial because the state rested. They said, all right, we've showed you every reason in the world why this girl is guilty.
And so the defense started yesterday. Yeah. And they started by trying to discredit the prosecution's forensic evidence. And the defense attorney, Jose Bays, asked an FBI technician whether she was asked to conduct a paternity test for Kaylee, Kaylee's grandfather and uncle. You know who they say. And brother. Yeah, and brother. Yeah, Kaylee's uncle, Casey's brother. And the prosecution objected and the judge dismissed to the jury and said that both men were excluded as Casey's father. Yeah, really? Yeah, now here's the thing. Because, you know, I'm talking about this and you guys walk me through this. Give me your theory. And LLB, I know you've been watching this thing. If you're the defense, okay? And here's what your defense is. Your defense is the reason that she didn't report her daughter missing for 30 days is because she had a whacked out childhood where her dad used to mess with her and so did her brother. And that is why she has been raised in an environment that taught her to not talk. Okay? And to keep everything hush-hush. That's the defense's case. They're also saying, and by the way,
Casey didn't kill her daughter. She drowned in the grandfather's pool, Casey's dad's pool. And he said to her, listen, you got to keep this quiet. Your mom's going to hate you for this because you're a bad mother and weren't watching your kid. And we got to do something about this. That's the defense. Okay. Nutshell. So yesterday the defense says, so is the father of Kaylee. the brother or the dad and the forensic person goes, we tested them and they're not. Now I said to my wife, I go, how does that help? I said, it sure would be compelling evidence to support their theory of she's been sexually abused by dad and brother. If Kaylee turned out to be the daughter of one of them, why would you present evidence that says, yeah, they're not the father. Rebecca said, here's why.
because they didn't order that paternity test. The prosecution did. And I said, they did? And she goes, well, someone at the sheriff's department did. And I said, why would they even do that? Why would they do that? And she said, because they thought shenanigans was going on. And I said, and I need your help. This is where I need people to help me piece this thing together. I'm like, so the sheriff's department goes, I think the brother and the dad, the brother and dad might be having sex with this girl, Casey. Wow. Okay, even if they do, what does that have to do with the murder of this little girl? That's what I couldn't figure. But she said it looks bad for the prosecution because it says about them, hey, we kind of think so too. We kind of believe what you believe as the defense. We believe what you believe. We had an idea. We had an idea of it too. Before you presented it. Before you even presented it, we had an idea of it so much so that we ordered a
paternity test on this dead little girl and i'm like why would they do that they're eliminating doubt yeah a doubt of what they're they're gonna they wanted to throw that out there immediately and just get it off the table like there's look she's not but who thinks of who thinks you're covering all your bases you don't want you don't want the other the other team to do it and explain though jade like i don't understand well you want if if it's even If you're the prosecution and that's what she's saying, you know that's what she's going to throw out. You're going to go, okay, first thing we're going to do, we're going to go in there and eliminate that doubt. But see, they didn't know. They didn't know. That's the deal. I know, but they wanted to find out. So they knew what to be prepared for. So they were trying to be prepared for any situation. You want to go in there because, I mean, worst thing happens, you get hit with a surprise like that and you are just leveled. That's true. You're done. Well, you know what I don't understand? Why didn't they present that as evidence? During their... During the prosecution's run at this, they probably didn't want to put it in their heads at all that there is even a chance that these two could even be the father, you know? Well, it backfired because yesterday the defense used it. Right. They said, hey, this girl and the judge got really pissed and he sent the jury out of the room and they were both really mad. Like both sides were really mad. The lawyer for Casey and the lawyer, the prosecutors, they were both really angry.
And the reason that they were angry was because Baez, the attorney for Casey, was basically doing what all attorneys do. He was saying a lot of things he wanted the jury to hear, even though he knew he was going to be scolded for it. Oh, sorry, sorry, my bad, my bad. I didn't know. Okay, yeah, I won't say that again. Is there a bigger bit in the courtroom than, would the jury please disregard that last sentence? Yeah, no problem. Yeah, I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Get the DeLorean up to 88. Take it back five minutes. Go back in time. Go ahead and wipe your memory clean. It's a brilliant move by the defense, always. Yeah. They should put the jury on delay. They should put them in there. Dude, seriously. That's pretty good. That's a really good idea. Like a 10 second delay? No, like a 20 minute delay because if somebody says something, you know, because that's what they do. They make this point, this drawn out point. Yeah. You know, the other thing that drives me crazy watching these attorneys is they'll ask, they'll go like this. I'll give you an example. They'll go.
Did you see anything in your report that led you to believe that Casey's brother could be having sex with her? Objection. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And the judge will go, sustained, rephrase that. And he'll go, okay. Was there anything in the evidence that had you think that perhaps the brother had a feeling for her in a way that would have him be intimate? Objection. And you're like, dude, you know you can't ask this. They've made it really clear. That's why the judge said yesterday, I am not hard of hearing. You're screaming. You're screaming at me. It's ridiculous. M1 Brooke from Carlsbad. Hi, Mikey Show. How you doing? I'm good, thank you. Just about what you were talking about before.
how no matter what happened in that woman's case, his childhood, you don't kill your children. And I completely agree with that. Like, I don't care. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. You got to hang on the book. They're not they're not suggesting the defense is not suggesting that what her dad and her brother did to her was why she killed her kid. They're saying she didn't kill her kid. What they're trying to do is build a case for how come you went 30 days without calling the police? That's the biggest question in everybody's mind. How did you go 30 days without your kid and you never called the police? You went to the tattoo parlor. You went to the clubs. You partied. Yeah. How did you party? How did you, you know, go do all that wacky stuff? Your kid's gone? Yeah. How? How is it possible? And the defense is saying, I'll tell you how it's possible. It's possible because she's so mentally jacked up by her dad raping her and her brother raping her that she's been taught her whole life. When bad things happen, you don't talk and you especially don't talk to the authorities. And I'm going to tell you something that will shock you. Yesterday, I started to think she might be telling Woods. I watched a lot of that trial yesterday. I thought to myself, if I'm a juror, I'm actually asking myself right now.
There's no freaking evidence against her. There's no evidence. So you have reasonable doubt now. Well, there's no evidence, you guys. I'll give you another example. You know, the tape around Casey's mouth that they found on Casey's mouth, the duct tape. Casey's DNA is not on that duct tape. That do anything for you? But it gets so much time had passed. They said it's almost impossible to have fingerprints and stuff like that. There's just no way. Oh, no, no, no, no. They weren't looking for fingerprints. They found, what they found on there was like from your fingers. Your skin tears off on the adhesive side of tape. You know what I mean? So Kaylee's DNA is on there. Right. But there's also other DNA on there from a person. It's not. Casey. And it isn't Casey. No, but it's a human. It's a person. It was another person. It was a person. But they could test her father. They did. There's some theories that she had help as well. But they don't, they can't just test. Which would make sense. Everyone in the world. Which would make sense. Hey, which would make sense, right? Like maybe you don't want to be the one that does the thing. Yeah. You know? My God makes me sick. But check this out. Check this out. Like this was what, this is another thing that the defense is offering as reasonable doubt.
And you're a juror, Sienna. I go, what's the dad's motive? What's the dad's motive? What's, you know, what? Casey's motive is, oh, well, she wanted to go single and she wanted to party and all that stuff. What is the dad's motive? Does the dad have a motive in killing that kid? If it was accidental. If it was accidental. That's what they're trying to claim. Yeah. If it was accidental, he saw her floating in the pool. Yeah. He's got it covered up. I know, but. Oh, no, no, no. Here's my... I'm sorry. I'm so stupid. I'm sorry. You're not stupid. I'm so stupid. Say idiot. You know how somebody was looking for chloroform and all that stuff? Online. Online. Yeah. Well, then why was she duct taped? And why did she... They say... Why is the defense saying she drowned? Why is the defense saying that she drowned if the truth is that there was chloroform being researched? Yeah. I don't know.
As a jury, you're like, that don't make sense to me either. It doesn't. It doesn't. Like yesterday, for the first time I'm listening to, I'm like, oh, my gosh, I think I have a very reasonable doubt. Oh, wow. No. No. I'm kind of a mother. Can we make some noise in here with our lives? Wheel of Pain is coming up at 730. Don't go anywhere. FM 94.9. Lauren. My voice is always sweet. Woods. If I had my choice, I'd be sitting on a beach having a Marlboro. Then doing nothing. Sitting. Play my guitar. That's it. Sienna. I've always wanted to punch someone in the face. And Jay. I killed my first deer when I was seven. On FM 94.9. Make some noise on Switchfoot coming in here. A couple of guys from Switchfoot coming in at nine. We got Pick a Scene with Sienna and L.O.B. doing the scene where Rose is laying nude on the couch in Titanic and Jack is drawing her. And Wheel of Paint at 7.30. PortraitPrints.net is our boy Jared's company where he will take a picture and turn it into an oil painting. And it looks so amazing and it's a great gift. Talk about great Father's Day gift. And I know Father's Day is on Sunday. You don't know Jared.
Seriously. He's like, thanks, Mike. Hey, man, all I'm telling you is that guy's amazing. Quick turnaround. And it isn't just for us. I mean, people have told us that guy is legit. Word of the day's cherry. When I say that word, you can win a headset, isolating, noise-canceling headset from Ultimate Ears. Also a pair of tickets to see the Foo Fighters at Viejas Arena October 17th. So get ready. So a guy. threw some hot water at an employee of Starbucks. Where, Sienna? This happened yesterday morning at the Starbucks at Horton Plaza on Broadway downtown. It was around 5.45 a.m. A homeless man comes in and asks for a cup of hot water, which they give away for free. But then he goes to the area where they have the... sweetener and the sugar and all that and starts pouring stuff like that in there to where the Starbucks employee walks over and says, look, you know, you can have the hot water, but that stuff's not free. Right. And he responds by turning around and just taking that cup and just whoosh in her face. Hot water all over her. She was taking to the hospital with second degree burns to the face and the chest. Early 20s. What should the penalty for that be? You got to do a lot of time. Yeah, a lot of time. It's salt. It's battery. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of time. Yeah.
He's 65 years old. Jay. Oh, my gosh. He was arrested on assault charges. Yeah, bet. Makes him real good. Yeah. So, I don't know if it's still Regis and Kelly. I don't know that. It is. It is still Regis and Kelly? Yeah. Because he had, I guess Kelly's gone for a time and they had somebody filling in. Yeah, that happens a lot. And it was this chick from ESPN named Michelle Beadle, who I don't know who that is. But anyway, she's filling in and Regis got a little J creepy on her. There are so many shows that are originally now done for the Internet. That's why I try to tell kids there are jobs out there. You just have to go do them because the Internet is a pretty strong place. What are the shows that I'm missing? Because I don't even have an Internet. How is this possible? I don't have it. I don't need it. I don't want it. But don't you just want to get up and read everything before you get the paper? I turn on. Morning, Joe. And there it is all there for me. I read the Internet every day. That's all I do. Really? And it's just trashy news, real news. That's what you read the Internet. Well, it's pretty good. Pictures. And I suppose you check out the porn, huh? What sort of porn do you look at? Kind of a big inference. Yeah. It's kind of a leap. It's a big leap. I said I was looking at CNN.com. USA Today.
What kind of creepy German porn are you looking at? You're right. Everybody, that's what's ruining this country. The porn on internet. I'm going to just have a sip of water for that. I can't believe it. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever done internet porn? I can't believe what I see there. I can't believe Regis Philman just asked me if I watch porn on the internet. This is the greatest day of my life. Is it? You haven't had very many fun days. Get out more. Definitely need to get out. Go to Disneyland or something. Go do something. Sienna, do you have any pull at that Disneyland restaurant? Oh, I can't even remember what it's called. Club 33? Yeah. I know one person who's a member there, and that person took my family once. Okay, so you don't have any pull. Maybe. But not anyone on my cell phone. I'd have to do a little work. I think I still have the contact guy. The guy said he wanted to take us. Yeah. But we'd all have to go. It's a secret, hidden, special restaurant in Disneyland that you have to be a member. It's not like an Asian tan type of restaurant. No, no. But it's the only place in Disneyland where you're allowed to have alcohol served. Good for you, Mike. Yeah. You'll be able to party big time. Yeah.
A lot of people are into that. But we're taking Jake for his birthday. Woods is going. Yeah. And, man, Jake's excited about that. Okay, so L.O.B. had something that she put in her recap email that I think a lot of us can relate to. She has a person that she went to high school with on Facebook. And she's not friends with them, but she... And this person are both always posting pictures of the same people that are old classmates. Posting comments on pictures. Yeah. So clearly they know that the other is on Facebook. Okay. In fact, I would venture to say, L.O.B., that they may even come up as one of your suggested like, hey. Yes. This person should be your friend. Several times. Yes. And the same with them. They've seen you come up. Yeah.
But they do the standoff thing. Who's going to add who? I ain't asking you. Are y'all friends? You know what I mean? It's one of those. It's like, well, you know, yeah, I mean, yeah. I knew you. And we clearly, like, but I, ask me. I mean. Don't make me ask you. I'm not going to. What are you? Because what if you... If I ask you, I'm the desperate one. Yeah. Because it's been months now. I finally asked this guy that I went to high school with that is always coming up as like, you should ask this person to be your friend. And I'm like, man, if I ask him to be my friend, he's going to think, you're only asking to be my friend because you know I was popular in high school. You guys. You're trying to glom off of my... popularity. No. And we weren't really that close of friends, but you know I was one of the most popular dudes in high school. What are you doing here? And so for that reason, I haven't asked. And finally, about a week ago, I broke down. I don't mean I broke down. I don't feel like I told him in the right way.
I go find I'm adding him. He took about four days to accept it, which made me. Oh, that's what I'm afraid of. Monster. But then once he accepted, he immediately posted on my wall. That's good. Immediately posted on my wall. Who's the popular one now? That his son is going to UCSD and stuff like that. We do this. Do you do this, Woods? No. You do not. You don't have the standoff? If I see somebody I recognize from high school I just haven't added yet, I just add them. What about guys? Yeah. What about 17-year-old sisters of people on the show? What about that? 16. 15 at the time. Sometimes. Yeah, sure. That's his favorite people to add. Well, it's only happened once. One time. It happened one time. And it was...
Sienna's sister. Whom I know. You know her. Spent some time with her. You know her. Happens to be chopped head gorgeous. Yeah. I don't look at looks. You know? It's not really my thing. Really? Almost impossible. About personality. I'm more about the personality. Does your mom have a Facebook account? Yeah. I'm friends with her. Are you? Yeah. I'm not friends with Avalon and I need to be. Yeah. Avalon's like really cool to Facebook. Yeah. Like only elite friends. Really? You don't think she would accept me? She probably would. I'm friends with your brother as well. Thanks. I'm friends with your brother, Mike. I'm friends with your sister, I believe. My brother, maybe. Your brother, yeah. It's weird. I only see Waverly's on your computer. Hey, Waverly. What? I was saying hi. Maybe I was just clicking ad front. Hey, you know what? I just accidentally put... you to be my friend, but I was actually trying to click on somebody else. My friend Wainerly. I was trying to put Wainerly in my top friends and you ended up there. Like if you want to like X me out or whatever. I don't even know what it's called because I barely use Facebook. I made this birthday collage and you're in it. I put you on this thing that you tag the hottest person you know, but it was a mistake because
I was trying to tag my other friend named Wannerly. Hey, wait a minute. I see this question that says, you answered a question about me? Was it about a crush on me? And I don't want to like, I don't want to click on it, but like, what did you say? I just want to know. I just wondered. Hey, I can buy beer. Cigarettes. Have you ever had Jack Daniels? Me either. I don't even like it. I can vote. If you tell me who you want to win, I can vote. If you're behind a candidate, I'll just do it. We got some text messages here. Oh, no. It's about us, right? How good our show is. Yeah, I'm sure. Jay prints him out. Let's check him out. This text says, oh, JJJ, what would the Mikey show be without Jay? Love me some Uncle Jay, M1 Castillo. That's a good one. Yeah, thanks. This one says, I heard Jay once sneezed on a blind guy, and not only did it give him vision, it cured him of the cancer he didn't know he had. That's M1 monkey bite. A sneeze. You're welcome. And then finally, M1 Arizona said, Jay posted happy birthday on my wall. He really is the greatest human being.
Alive. I'm starting to get even more mad about this. Did you see there's a new J lover? It's called The J Show. The J Show. On our Facebook fan page. That doesn't cut too deep, does it, Mike? The J Show. It's a little disturbing. It's unbelievable. Because it's not me. Cam's been messing around on my Facebook. Cam, what he done? Stop it. Come on, I'll give you a show. I don't have to make a Facebook page. I'll take off my shirt. Gosh, time. No, I will. You don't have to go that far. Let's see. Then also, Woodsy was going out to get his mail the other day in his boxers again. Yeah. You're a fat. Woodsy will go to get his mail outside in his boxers with no shirt on. Yeah. Creeper. Now, he doesn't believe it's a creeper.
Your take, Woods. No, it's not creepy at all. It's like wearing a bathing suit. It's like wearing a bathing suit. Yeah. It's like wearing a bathing suit out. My hole, where my wiener is, there's a button. Button. On probably 90% of my boxers. So you're not exposing yourself. Right, and I couldn't. Yeah. You know, because there's a button there. Very, very thin material. No, mine are thick. Yeah, he has thick boxers. Thick-ish. Here, you want to see? Oh, wow. I'll show you. It's not thin. We'll have Jay come in and see if he could see through it. He told Lauren at the end of the day last week that he could see through her dress. I've seen his boxers there. You can't see through them. Yeah, you can't see through them. Well, it doesn't matter because yesterday he timed it perfectly where he was going out there and then there was a lady walking by his mailbox. And he might have scared her really bad. Yes. By scared, I mean she saw a 250-pound pasty white guy. Walking to his mailbox, partially nude. Yes. Ever seen a grown man naked? Got freaked out. She got freaked out when she saw him. Yep. Grossed out. Wow. Right to the jugular with that. And it's over! Jay will get a laugh. I guarantee you, it doesn't matter. Eyes when she saw you? Yeah, my mailbox is hidden. There's a big tree in front of it. So she had gotten off the bus. There's a friggin' bus stop right in front of my house. She was walking towards the street.
And I was like, pull my thing down, grab the mail out. Whoa, why'd you do that? Easy, dude, easy. She walked by and I came out and said, she goes, ah! And like, she was really startled. Who wouldn't be? I was, I felt. You felt bad. Now, I've been telling myself, had I been full, if I was in a tuxedo, she would have been startled because she wasn't expecting a human there. I don't think it helped that I was in my boxer shorts. Maybe I'll do the shirt from now on. Shirt and boxers is a little less creepy. Yeah. I am afraid to go. anywhere, almost in my own home this morning, okay? I needed a pair of jeans and I went into the laundry room and they were in the washing machine and they'd been washed. They were soaking wet. The worst. Okay? So I put all the clothes into the dryer, which Rebecca's asked me not to do. Okay? She says, please don't do that. You don't know what setting to put. And she's right. I just sort of do, I just pick one. Just pick a setting and I hit okay. And so I walk downstairs in my underwear with a shirt on. Jay. Jay just went. No, I think it was. No, it wasn't. No, it was. He went. I had the ghost shivers. And I was terrified that our nanny, Nita, would see me. But not terrified enough to not do it.
With a shirt on, you're fine. Is it? Yeah. It's like pajamas. There's some sweatpants on, though. I don't have anybody else living in my home. But you have the general public. Yeah, but I'm only out there for a second. And I've been caught before. You've been caught before. It's worse being caught by your nanny than a stranger. Absolutely. That woman lives in your house, and she's like, easy with the boxer's creep, all right? It was 3.45 in the morning. Yeah, but maybe she'd been out. Yeah. Just partying on a Tuesday. Blowing it up. Thursday night. Get a glass of water. Thursday night would be the night to party. I feel like I'm in backwards world. Yeah, if you're a Hungarian nanny, the night that's real hot is Thursday nights. It's Hungarian night down in North Park. Yeah. Everybody knows that. You know that? Two for one hungry special. There you go. Hungarian happy hour. Absolutely. My little son, Jakey, graduated from preschool. How about that? It was really sweet. It was so sweet. So Rebecca opened the door to the bedroom, and I was sitting on the bed in just underwear, weird. And she goes, all right, are you ready? And I didn't know if she was talking to me or Jake. Uh-oh. And it turned out she was talking to Jake. Wow. And Jake came into the room wearing a little, you know, graduation cap. I love cap and gown. I want to cry. Oh, it was so cute. My heart.
Oh, it was so cute. Cutest thing in the world. Did you do... Yeah, I farted the graduation thing. That was my trumpet. Impressive if you could. That'd be pretty cool. Could have played it on your harmonica as well, Mike. Yeah? Yeah. I don't know what that would have sounded like. Me too. We had a friend over, and we were in a quiet room. And I don't know if this has ever happened to you. We were in a quiet room in the mirror. It's okay, Mike. You can continue the story. Just ignore it. Yeah, but how? I mean, I'm trying to. I know. I know. I was right in the middle of telling this story, and now I don't know where to. You were in a quiet room. Just turn off his mic, and then you won't. I can't, L-O-B. I cannot. But we were in a quiet room, and right in the middle of everything, his ringtone.
I started doing that. Did I mention it was a church growth group? Now, we're in this church growth group. Oh, wow. And it's quiet. It's this very somber moment. And he's like, oh! You know, trying to turn the phone off in his jean pocket. And I felt it was, and I started laughing. I was the only one who started laughing. And everybody else was just uncomfortable. It was it's one of those deals where when people have people choose their ringtones for themselves, but they don't anticipate that they're going to be in a grocery store in front of strangers or whatever. And it's going to go off and it's instantly. This is what I tell you to do. Look at their face right away because it turns bright red. If it's the love boat or, you know, because the ringtone is very telling. If it's just something goofy.
If it's anything other than just a regular ringtone. And it made me wonder, like, have you done that? Do you have something stupid and it's gone off and you feel like an idiot? Is yours just a regular ringtone? Yeah. Do you mind on vibrate or the iPhone ringer? The one that everybody has. Classic ringer. Classic ringer. I don't even know what mine is because my phone's never on. Whatever it is. I don't turn my phone on ever. I know. Would that upset you, Woodsy? Yeah. It's all right. Let's see what my ringtone is. Here it is. This is what happens when my phone rings. Boring. It's mine, too. That's kind of cool. Don't you think it's an old phone? You don't like that? A bunch of people probably just went, oh, gosh, my phone's ringing. Do that bit again. Oh, yeah. Please do that bit again. But does anybody have a stupid one? I have a duck quacking.
That's yours? Uh-huh. Just think they have a song that's real embarrassing. I used to have one. I have one that actually went off during a wedding. It was met at work. Who can it be now? I thought that was really funny. I was going to be like, who can it be now? And I'd have to look and find out who can it be now. At a wedding. I got rid of that. I always have my phone on vibrate. I turned it on because I had to give directions to somebody in the car. So I turned it on, left it on during the wedding. There's nothing worse than being that guy. Mortifying. 5701949. We're going to play Let's. And this morning, let's eat corn. It's going to be a contest, all right? All of us. Every one of us. We're going to bring some corn in here. We have a contest. 60 seconds. Who can get the most down from a kernel of corn? I didn't bring floss. Oh, no. You used my hair. I can do that. I've done it before. It wouldn't be the first time. I know. Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, time is running out for a lottery winner here in San Diego. In early October to December of last year, someone pulled into the Lakeside Shell Station next to Interstate 8 and bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket. The ticket ended up being $196,000. No one has claimed it all these months later, so they have until Monday at 5 p.m. to get the money. Again, if you pulled into a Lakeside Shell station sometime between October and December of last year and bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket... Go check it out. Oh, wow. The winning numbers are 8, 32, 31, 11, and 12. I bet so many people do that. They buy a ticket. They forget about it. They don't remember. I know. You don't think you're going to win. Also, an extradition hearing is going to be held today for the boyfriend of a Michigan woman whose body was just pulled from a swamp in Indiana. Oh, my God. Out of a suitcase. They think that the boyfriend killed this girl, 45-year-old Dawn Marie.

Sports is brought to us today by our friends at Frank's Red Hot. Frank's Red Hot. Get some! Oh, yeah. Well, this was a really cool story. And congratulations to all-time save leader and San Diego Padre forever, Trevor Hoffman. They are going to be retiring his number 51. Nobody will ever don it again, man. And that is awesome. He's a good guy. And I still have a spot for you on the Tipsy Crows, Trevor, if you're listening. And if you want to ride that career and just continue, man, just give me a buzz. That's Woodsy's semi-professional baseball league. We've got a closer slot open for you. There you go. Also, the Padres will travel to Minnesota. Interleague play starts again. And they will be taking on the Twins. And that game is tonight at 5-10 at Target Field. How come you don't like interleague play? It's just old now. I'm over it at this point. Yeah, it's just, I'm over it. So we were talking about ringtones that go off at inappropriate times. This is definitely probably the worst one. I think he's told me this before. M1 Herald, he says, my best friend's dad was on his deathbed.
Oh, no. And he was asked to be there the day that they had to unplug him. And so Harold was there. Huh. And while they were all gathered around the bed praying for the old man's about to be unplugged, Harold's ringtone went off and it was this. Drift Away by Uncle Cracker. That's bad enough. It's bad enough your ringtone goes off. It's bad enough that it's Uncle Trash. That's even almost worse. Drift Away. Harold. Sorry, guys. Sorry. Oh, my bad. Sorry, guys. Sorry about Drift Away. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, wow. If that doesn't get your skin. You think anybody shot eyes at him? Shot some daggers? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry, you guys. I'm so sorry.
It's not your fault. No. You know? Well, it is. You forgot. You need to turn the phone off. You need to silence it, mute it, do whatever you have to do in that position. You know better than that. All right. Are you guys ready to play Let's? Yeah. All right. All right. We're going to play Let's, and it's Let's Eat Corn. We have 60 seconds. We're going to see who's going to eat the most corn. Why don't you call us? Switchfoot. A couple of guys from Switchfoot will be in later. Why don't you call us? And yeah, we're going to have people pick a horse. I think it'd be fun. We'll let them pick a horse. Who do they think will be able to devour the most corn in 60 seconds? 570-1949 is our number. Now, Jay is in the studio and he's going to do this. So here are the participants. Myself, Sienna. Jay, Woods, and L.O.B. L.O.B. likes corn, but the only way she likes corn is on the cob. Yes. And we all like corn. I want to say a special thank you to Jay for making the corn. Yeah, thank you, Jay. Thank you, Jay. Thanks, Jay. Thanks for pointing that out, Jay, for us to thank Jay. Hey, guys, we have to thank our sponsor today. And that's Jay Isbelso.
Mike, if you could just say a special shout out to him. And I'm going to need $5 from each of you to chip in. And Mikey, yours is extra with the mayonnaise and lime. I don't have mayonnaise. I don't have lime on my corn. 570-1949. Let's see. M1 Jess Mann from Valley Center. Who do you want? Let's go with Wood. That's a good choice. It is a good choice. M1 Craig. from San Diego. Who would you like? Jay. You got it. M1 Kyle from Chula Vista. Who do you want? I'll take LLV. All right. Hang on the line. M1 Super Mario from IB. Yeah, I'm going to take you, Mike. All right. Hang on. This is the only time I want to be picked last. M1 Don A from San Diego. You there? Hello. Yes.
Who would you like? You got Sienna. Well, sorry. Peace. You got Sienna. You guys ready? Yeah. All right. We're going to play. Let's eat corn. We have 60 seconds. Beginning. Oh, gosh. Now. Woods is so messy. The mic is running so fast. Weird. I dare you. I dare you. I dare you. Are you talking? Shane's on his second one. Oh, my gosh. I'm a bonnet. It's so good. I can't even know what you're saying. How are you doing now? Oh, I got the hookup. Oh, boy. I started. I started hot. I can't do it. It's in between every single tooth right now. It's in my braces. Jay, dude. Jay. Oh, my God.
I don't know. Mike did good, too. Oh. Oh, my gosh. Oh. This one's pretty clean. That's a freaking draw, dude. Look how much is on your plate, J. That's a draw. How are you doing that? Oh, yeah. Mike's plate's clean. I got to give it to Mike. All right. Fine. I'm going to eat it anyway. How did you shred like that and get the corn to fly? Look at this guy, dude. What do you got left? It's on your cargo shorts. Your camouflage cargo shorts. I feel like I never want to eat corn ever again. Don't you? It was delicious corn. Who won? You did. I did? We can give it to you. My teeth hurt. Mm-hmm. We just keep eating corn after the contest is over. Look at me. He's got stuff all over him. Look. He's still eating. How'd you get it to fly anywhere? Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. This is what made me sick. Thank you, Jay. M1 Super Mario from IB. I won for you. Hey, I appreciate it, Mike. Thank you, dude. Hang on the line. I don't want to know what he won. Jay, you got to tell him what he won. What he won? He won a pair of tickets to the San Diego County Fair. Yeah. Go eat your own corn. There you go. Speaking of corn. Corn. Corn. Corn.
No more Corn Brothers. That bummed me out. Now it's a guy named Corn Star. And last year when we went, he was like, yep, we got everything. The Mexicans, we make sure we got mayonnaise and lime. It's a true story. It's a true story. And I go, that's cool. I'm Mexican. No. He said, yeah. I thought she was an Arab or something. An Arab. I thought she was Arab. I thought she was an Arab. You know what we're going to do now? Even though L.O.B.'s teeth are all full of corn? 570-1949. We're going to play a little Tom Tom tunes. Don't forget, in 15 minutes we'll be doing Wheel of Pain. Do you really have the hiccups? No, I don't. I was laughing because there's corn all around J.C. Oh, my gosh. At least 30. At least 30 kernels. What's up? Oh, my gosh. Dude.
Tom Tom Girl, welcome to the studio. Thank you for having me, Mikey. You're welcome. How have you been? My works are all gummed up from corn. Yeah, your works. I don't even know what that means. Gum up the works. All right. You feeling good about this today? I feel adequate. All right. Well, here's the deal. Tom Tom Girl is a GPS device, and she's going to read the lyrics to some songs. And the person on the phone, all you got to do is listen to the lyrics and try to tell us what song it is. M1, Will from San Diego, are you there? Yep, I'm here. All right, Will. You've got 20 seconds to listen to these lyrics. Title or artist, get you the win. Begin. Born down in a dead man's town, the first kick I took was when I hit the ground. You end up like a dog that's been beat too much till you spend half your life just covering up. Born in the USA, I got a little hometown jam, and so they put a rifle in my hands. Can you give me title or artist for the win there, M1 Will? I'm listening to the phone. It's too hard. I have no idea. It's actually in the lyrics. It was born in the USA. That was Springsteen. Every once in a while, you get lucky, and you get to hear her say it. She's got to pay attention. And there's sometimes a theme that's going on. Woodsy, you are not a Springsteen fan, but I'll tell you what, man. That one is one of my favorites. I like three or four songs. I do like that one.
Next up is M1 Oscar from IB. You there, Oscar? Oscar, can you hear me? Oops, sorry. Yeah, I can hear you. All right. 20 seconds. Title or artist wins. Here we go. Get your motor running. Head out on the highway looking for adventure in whatever comes our way. Yeah, darling, gonna make it happen. Take the world in a love embrace. Fire all your guns at once and explode into space. I like smoke and lightning, heavy metal thunder. Can you give us the title or artist on that, Oscar? Oh, man. I can't. Steppenwolf, bro. That was born to be wild. There's a theme going on here. You know, TomTom, girl, we would think they'd pick up on the theme. I think so, Mikey. But it doesn't happen. M1, Jason, how are you? Good. You ready to do this? All right, let's do it. 20 seconds beginning now. My mama told me when I was young, we are all born superstars. She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on in the glass of her voodoo ER. There's nothing wrong with loving who you are. She said, because he made you perfect, babe. So hold your head up, girl, and you will go far. Listen to me when I say. Can you give me title or artist there, M1 Jason? No idea.
We got no winner today. That was Lady Gaga, Born This Way. There's a theme. Born in the USA, born to be wild, born this way. That will help you. Yeah. I have to admit, I have to admit when I'm wrong, I was wrong when Woods said to me. He said, dude. Do you really believe that this is the last that we're going to see of Okra Winifrey? Sweet kid, dude. When she signed off her television show. And I said, yes, Woods, of course it is. And he said, well, you're a sweet kid. And I said, well, listen. I said, you don't make this big of a deal off going off television only to go back on TV. He said, dude.
She'll be back on that network of hers with some kind of show. I go, no, she will not. She would look like a fool. She looked like a fool. I said, there's no possible way in any way, shape or form before the end of this year, at least, that she would have the balls to do something like that. People keep asking me, hey, Oprah, what are you going to do next? Let me tell you, I am going to keep doing what I love. Don't you dare. Big twist. No. I'll do it anywhere. I'll do it anytime. With anybody. I won't. And you will see it all on own. After 25 years, I am getting out of the chairs and leaving the studio. Right. It's the most exciting moment. Bye, y'all. You know, people think I have seen the world. I really haven't. I've flown over the Sahara Desert. Never felt sand between my toes.
None of us have. I actually have. Oh, wow, wow. Taj Mahal is really gorgeous. Never been there. The one in Atlantic City like the rest of us. You know, they say you can see the great wall from space. About time I dropped. I just bought space. Dropped by and saw it for myself. Oprah is opening up her world. They're taking you with her. This is the middle of nowhere. for more of the riveting conversations you've loved for years. Oh, yeah. In-depth interviews with world leaders, movers, and shakers. She's never done that. The most famous people on the planet. I didn't think she would. She would. I knew it. I'm back. You're free. She's going to travel around the world and go to a bunch of exotic places that we can't afford to go to and show it to us. Yeah. And then the show is called... Rub it in your face. It's like she's retired and traveling, doing what most people do, but just getting paid. It's called feast on this. Right. Is what it's called. Well, see, but a lot of people, Sienna, when they retire and they travel, they go to Yuma. Yeah. Yeah. And you don't hear from them. Yeah. They're retired. They're playing golf. Yeah. Their feet don't get to rub in the sands of the Sahara. They don't go to the Taj Mahal. They don't walk on the Great Wall of China.
Welcome to Rub It In Your Face. Today I'm hanging out with Kate and the other guy. Will? Yeah. John and Kate? Yeah, both of those guys. That was a fresh five you owe me. I should have made it a hundred. I think you wanted to. And I lowered it to five. Yeah, I wanted to bet you a hundred bucks. Gosh darn, I would have gotten a fresh hundo today. Dude, I did not think she would do that. I was like, it'd be embarrassing. Yeah. Guess not. Don't know if you know about this, but apparently, Vandersloot may have gotten his girlfriend pregnant. Gross. Yeah, she's been visiting him in the Peruvian prison where he is right now, and they have conjugal visits. They do? Yes, they do. How? Who dates that guy? Exactly. Actually, it's a girl because...
If you don't know, he was arrested for the possible murder of a girl in Peru. And she worked at a casino. This is another girl that worked at the same casino as this girl who is now his girlfriend and comes to visit. And, you know, they do what they do behind closed doors. Check this out. Let's say Amanda Sloot were in jail here in California. And it's public knowledge. And let's say he was in jail at what's the place up there? San Quentin. San Quentin. And it was public knowledge he was there at San Quentin. Over under on the number of women in one year's time that would write him interested in dating him. I will say the over under is 300. Woods? I'll take the over. I think I do too. L-O-B? Slightly under. Sienna? Jay? Over. Creeps. Yeah. I was one of them when I was like 19. I wrote that girl that Pam Smart. Well, I was going to. I was ironing and I thought about it. I never actually did it, but I thought about it. In fact, I may have started a letter on the air. This is why they do it. This is why they do it. They do it because they know that they're desperate. That's what I was. And you think the person might pay attention to you. Do you think Casey Anthony?
We'll have dudes lining up. Oh, for sure. Jay's already written her. Yeah. Jay's visited. Sent her a care package. I already stopped by. I said hi. There ain't nothing wrong with that. I'm just saying innocent until proven guilty. Conjugals. It's ridiculous. Is it? Ain't that ridiculous. You got to try it. Geese from around New York City and the airports around New York City are actually feeding the police. That's kind of an interesting thing. Well, geese are a big problem in New York. As we know, as the pilot Sully, the big reason was the birds got stuck. The geese got stuck in the plane. And so now they're taking the geese and capturing the geese that threaten planes. And they're feeding them to the homeless in Pennsylvania. That's a good idea. You guys ready for the wheel of pain here in the studio? Oh, boy. It's coming up next. Don't go anywhere.

From Bird Surfshed with the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report for a Friday morning. This is being brought to you, of course, by Frostbrew Coors Light. Coors Light is the coldest there is. Coors Brewing Company, Golden, Colorado. Surf-wise today, we're looking at, again, a fun combination, albeit inconsistent, swell out of the southwest primarily. But there is west-northwest wind swell to break that up. Big problem this morning is that negative low tide, and that is draining all areas out. Overcast skies, a little bit of southwest wind on it as well. As the tide fills in throughout the morning, they'll look for knee-to-waste chest highways on average at most spots, with those top south-facing areas primarily in the further part of the county area, Oceanside to be sure, and further north seeing some shoulder-to-head highways on occasion, though. Very inconsistent, you have to wait around and be patient. Right now, pretty drained out and sectioning, a little bit of a south wind texture on it as well.
That's pretty much what we're looking at. For up-to-the-minute surf reports, forecasts, go to surfline.com. And this is Monday and Tuesday. Check it out. and I'm going to give you the name of a band, and you have to tell me whether or not it's a real band or a fake band. True or false. True or false. You guys ready? We're ready. Start with J. Okay. J, Gringo Star. Real. Son of a... That's correct. Woodsy. Yeah. Heart of Bone. False. Yes! Dang it. J. Yes. Tammy was a wise man. False. Son of a... Woodsy? Yep. The Gaza Strippers. False. That is a real band, my friend. The Gaza Strippers is a real band. We will now spin the... Oh, we don't. We wait. Sorry. Not excited. Do I ever forget? No. All right, you ready? Jay? Yes. The Three Scrooges. Woodsy? Yes. The Flammables.
It's true. I made it up. Jay. Yes. Go, Nad, go. It's real. Wow, you are good. Woods. Yeah. Kathleen Turner Overdrive. True. Heard of it. Yeah, me too. How many to win? Score. The score is J4, Woods 2. We can keep going. I think I'm a winner. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he is. Now, how many times do we spin this thing? Just once. He just gets one punishment. I hope it's a good one. You ready for the wheel of pain? I don't want to rub his feet. They're gross. He would have to rub yours. Now, he has a one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. He has a two and eight chance to get something not that bad. Here we go. What? I want to spin it. I want to spin it. Yeah, I know, but I'm trying to dip by the microphone. Yeah, he's going to spin it for you. Sorry, buddy. So sad. We've got to get it over here. We've got to get it mic'd. All right. You ready? Yeah.
for that spin, by the way. Oh, God. What is it? Get a back rub. Oh. Hold on. Get in there nice and deep. He's the luckiest guy. Get in there nice and deep, Jake. He is the luckiest guy. He loses, he wins. Ooh. Ooh. Oh, that's nice. Oh, that's good. Oh, not so hard. Not so hard. Not so hard. What's he? Make it good. Come on. Give me a little of this. A little of this. Oh, yeah. He gets out of everything. We should have had one thing on this. Oh, Mama Cedar. That feels... Oh, he's good. He's got magic hands. You're getting a back rub. Oh, yeah, I am. It's ridiculous. Lauren is like, oh, really? Lauren's got to be Jack. Sienna's got to be Rose on the Titanic. I got to eat dried shrimp. He eats a candy bar. Yeah, exactly. How dare you? Thanks, buddy. M1, Lisa from Lakeside. What was the word of the day? Cherry. That's right. Congratulations.
You are going to see the Foo Fighters at Viejas Arena. And you're also going to get a pair of Ultimate Ears by Logitech. Hang on the line, okay? Thank you. Good spin, by the way, buddy. I'm going to give you a little pound for that. Way to go, Mike. Hey, listen. That was unbelievable. So here were the made-up bands. Heart of Bone. I made up. Tammy was a wise man. I made up. The Three Scrooges, I made up. And The Flammables, I made up. Flammables is a good name for a band. That's a good name for a band. Can I tell you, don't worry, I'll come up with new ones for next week, but these were the Sudden Death ones. Club Vodka. Real? Fake. Fake. Made it up. Raise Your Glass for Nikki. Holy hell. Real. Fake. I made it up. Pepto-dismal. Real. True. Wow. Frank says no. True. False. I made it up. You're good, pal. You're real good. So next, I don't know, next week, we'll do another wheel of pain. Wow. Not real painful today. Yeah, not painful, buddy. You got to back rub. Got to back rub. It's the best possible thing on that wheel. Without question.
Without question. Jay could have been a real D and just hurt. Yeah. Giving you deep tissue. Feels good. Let's hear it for Sushi Popper, who came in today, brought some sushi for us, and that stuff is available at Cream of the Crop in Oceanside, Earthgrown Market in Oceanside, Major Market in Escondido, and very soon at Costco, Walmart, and Trader Joe's, and you can find them online, SushiPopper.com. I was telling you about, oh, by the way, Woodsy was saying yesterday, he goes, there's this great thing out for dudes, you know, on the Civil War by Ken Burns. Yeah. I looked. I do have it. You do own it. Yeah. Now, the guy that made Top Gun and the guy that made the movie Gladiator got together and did a two-hour thing for TV called Gettysburg that was one of the gnarliest, bloodiest things. Did you see it, Danny? Yeah. It's awesome, okay? And it's really bloody, though, because the Civil War was pretty bloody. One of the reasons that it was as bloody as it was and as gnarly as it was was because of a weapon that they used. It was a rifle that shot something called a mini ball. It was a bullet and it was shaped, it was lead and it was a bullet and it was big and it was thick and this is what the mini ball was all about.
The commonly used numbers for how many soldiers died during the Civil War is between 620 and 630,000. Today, that would mean that we would lose 6 million American lives. One innovation making this war so deadly, the miniball. 90% of the soldiers Wilson treats have miniball wounds. Hollow base ends its flight for better range and accuracy. It flattens out, causing much larger wounds than... traditional musket balls. The warped bullet shatters bones that splinter and tear through the body. Grooves in the bullet carry deadly bacteria leading to gangrene. Only way to stop it. Now, amputation in 2011. What do you do? You roll the scripts, right? You go wherever you're going. You check in in the morning. You get your little booties. You get your little gown that shows your butt. You got your little cap.
Real sweet person comes in, starts your IV. Ooh, ow. Ow, the IV just stuck me. Ow. Put the tape over the IV, and that's going to hurt when they tear that off, right? And then you go in, and a guy comes over, and he gently says to you now, I want you to start to count backwards from 10. And you do 10, 9. You wake up. You're on a drip of morphine. You don't feel any pain. Amputation all done. Good to go. Not during the Civil War. The quickest solution to most serious limb injuries is amputation. Medicine is in its infancy, but anesthesia is available. Chloroform was recently discovered and morphine administered liberally. 1,000 gallons of whiskey are also on hand. Confederate surgeon LeGrand Wilson has been treating casualties continuously since last night.
The patient may either sit on a chair or lie near the edge of a bed. The tourniquet is to be applied. One assistant holds the hand, another is to take hold of the forearm. The average amputation takes 12 minutes. No antibiotics, no knowledge of infection. They don't even stop to wash their hands or instruments. Surgeons work round the clock. It's the source of the term old sawbones. Lloyd will be one of the lucky ones. The odds of surviving an arm amputation... 77%. I'll have some whiskey, pal. And some morphine. And some chloroform. You think those guys are men? Oh, my God. What's the grittiest thing you've ever gritted out? Now, I know some stuff, man. I know some guys that have gritted some stuff out. When I was a kid, I used to go camping with Eddie. Now, I wasn't with him on this trip. This was the one with his dad.
His dad had one of those, one of the best ones ever. His dad had one of those fly fishing rods, but he was pretty good at it. So he ended up getting one of the ones that worked on like an electric deal. So when you wanted to, you could press the button and it would go and it would spin the line into the reel. Well, he had gone fishing. And he didn't catch anything. And he had this treble. You know what a treble hook is? A treble hook is three hooks. Oh, yeah. Okay? So he had this treble. And he was holding it about, you know, six inches down. You know, it was six inches from where he was pinching the line. Six inches down. But as he was walking, he tripped a little bit. And he accidentally hit that button. And it went zzz. And it zzzed right into his index finger. So much that it was buried underneath the skin and it was wrapped around the bone. And they were camping. So, of course, you got to wait a little bit and then you got to drive and you got to go with the deal and the thing. That's manly. I watched my dad. He got one in his finger. He pushed it through. Because he couldn't pull it back out. He pushed it through and then cut the barb out. Holy cow. With like pliers? Like needle nose? Needle nose.
Freak. Anybody in here grit something out? Gnarly? Ever have to grit anything out? Like getting a nail or something like that? Another buddy, I knew a guy that did roofing and popped himself with a hammer gun. Or a nail gun. Kneecap. One of the greatest x-rays I've ever seen. Did you just say kneecap? Kneecap. It's one of the greatest x-rays I've ever seen. And it didn't hit anything. I mean, it hurt real bad, but it didn't hit any tendon. It went into the knee, didn't hit any tendon, and went right through. 16-penny nail. Now, I don't know if you know what a 16-penny nail is, but it's a very... Look at Jay. It's about four or five inches long. It's bad. We're getting some phone calls. 570-1949. If you've gridded something out. When I was a little kid? Yeah. My grandmother called me. She's, Jay. So I start running, I'm barefoot, running across this field where they're building this house. Oh, gosh. I step on a board. Oh, no. The nail goes. I see the skin on top of my foot push up and then pop. And then I pick up my foot and there's a board on the bottom of my foot. It's like a little piece of, it looked like a ski. I looked at it for a minute. I couldn't understand what was going on. So I had to bend down. Yeah. Pop it out. I did, well.
I wasn't that manly because I was a little kid. We lived in Georgia. And I did the same thing with a flip-flop and stepped on a board that had a nail in it. And when it happened, I remember, I didn't see it when it happened. But what I do remember is I heard it in my ear like you can hear it. Yeah, a little, as it, you know, right through the top. Had to get a tetanus shot. M1 Dillweed is on the line from Encinitas. Hi, Dillweed. What's up, guys? Not too much. What did you do? I shot three of my fingers together with a 16-penny galvanized nail with my nail gun. Oh, wow. And me and my partner had to pull it out with pliers and a hammer. Wait, how did you catch all three fingers? It double fired, and I was holding on to the end of the stud, and it shot through my index, middle, and ring finger, side by side, stuck together.
This is sending shooting paints through my grundle right now. Oh, yeah. Shooting paint. Oh, yeah. The horsepower is pulling it out. Oh, yeah. That's always horsepower. Oh, wow. That's rough. That's gritting it out. Talking cowboy stuff. M1, South Bay crazy kid from San Diego. You there? I'm here, dude. You want... Yeah, those are some girls you were just talking to right there. You want to hear something gnarly? Yep. All right. I hang off buildings, man. I work on sling stages, you know? Yeah. And this happened yesterday, brother. I was lowering these 200-foot cables down the building. Yeah. And one of the cables had one little strand of the wiring was, like, torn out about a centimeter off the cable. No, no. I'm holding onto this thing with my bare hand, dude, lowering it. It's picking up weight, picking up weight, zipping. And the freaking cable, dude, zipping right through my palm. Ouch! Ouch!
Oh, gosh. Oh, gosh. I want to make a word for you guys real quick, dude. I had to lower the rest of the cable. The rest of the 200 feet, man. Slippery with blood. Oh, my gosh. I just pulled up to the building right now, man. I'm looking up at the top of it. I got to raise all these cables up. If that happened to me, I'd take the year off. I would take a year off. I'd say, hey, listen, I'll see you in 2012. Did you go to the hospital? No, I went home and I came to work the next day. I'm here right now. What did you do? To repair. No, no. Are you there? Yes. Oh, I hung up on him. You hung up on him. No! Please call back. We want to hear your story, too. Don't worry. I want to know what it did, what he did to it. Put some dirt on it. He rubbed dirt on it. He rubbed dirt on it. That's a man, dude. You guys got a job to do today. Maybe come in the studio. Yeah, 100.
Free backstage pass. Yes. I want to hear it again. Listen, I had to go to work. Yeah. He's there. This happened yesterday. Lowering 200 pound cable. One of them's got a piece of metal sticking off of it. Barb. And it just went right through his palm. Went home. Patched it up. He's going to work right now. Me? Done. 200 and some pound fat Mexican sitting here in front of a microphone. Yeah. That's a real man right there. That's great. Let's see. M1 teacher from Escondido. Are you there? Hey, what happened to you? My sister, actually, was being pulled into a speedboat after swimming and got her thigh stuck between the cleat of the boat and the boat itself. The cleat is where you wrap the rope, the tether line. And so it's about the size of a quarter of six.
Went straight through the muscle of her thigh. Oh, gosh. You mean through the leg? Yeah. Oh, my gosh. It was a rope? No, the actual metal cleat where you wrap the... Went through her thigh. Oh. Yeah. How old was she? Yeah, how old was she? She was a senior in high school, so 17. Oh, that is gnarly. Gnarly. And this is Jake's teacher. I don't know if that... came through. Oh, M1 Jake's teacher, who will be in here soon. Hey, was yesterday your last day with our boy? This morning, but he's not going to stay for the actual ceremony. Yeah, because he doesn't like the clapping and cheering. He can't handle the clapping and cheering. So I'll have him until noon, but then he's back for the summer, so I'll have him for the summer. Okay, good. All right, well, thank you, Jake's teacher. No problem. We love you. She's so cool. He loves her so much. This one cannot be any of the... Brace. Brace myself. Brace. Let's go ahead and grab my grundle right now. M1 Detail from Oceanside. This happened to you? Yeah, about six years ago. I told you I said this story on your other job. That's how dumb I am. This to me, I read that. I'm like, I've never heard of that before. Well, up here in the foothills in Vista, my buddy has a lot of property and we had just gotten a fire going.
And contrary to normal belief of where I'm at on a Friday night, I didn't have any alcohol at this time. And the fire had just gotten started. And I stepped on a nail in a board, went to hop it off, and fell right into a freshly lit fire. Oh, my God. Fire pit. Fire pit. Oh, my God. I do remember now. Oh, my God. I do remember now. Oh, my God. Did that hurt, sir? Oh, my God. Did that hurt? Yeah, yeah, well. So I get in, I push myself out of the fire pit and start flopping around so I'm not on fire. I look down at my right arm and there's a blister that had just popped probably the size of, I don't know, a small tortilla. I know exactly how big that is. I know exactly how big that is. Small tortilla. My stories are like gritting out hangovers, like going to work the next day. Splinter. Splinter. Yeah, well, this morning... I had a really bad hangnail that I had to remove with tweezers. Sorry, man. I'm sorry. Which is very similar to cutting your hand open with a cable and going to work the next day, or falling into a fire pit. After you have a nail stuck in your foot. In your foot. I got bit by a dog here, and I had stitches in my shoulder, my right shoulder, and I had like 14 stitches, and I had to play ball the next day, and I pitched, and I had blood coming through my uniform, and I played, but I tore my stitches. That was...
Not bad. I was like 15, too. That's gritting it out. When we come back, pick a scene. Yeah! Sienna will be Rose from Titanic, and L.O.B. will be Jack from Titanic. And L.O.B. is going to... Sienna, are you a little nervous because you're going to be doing a scene from Titanic in just moments? Yes, and I'm on the radio. I'm not an actress, so I've been rising lines. Sienna, what's going on in there? Well, a passenger was arrested on Wednesday trying to get on a U.S. Airways flight at San Francisco because his pants were sagged down too low. You could see his underwear, and they confronted him. He refused to pull up his pants. He was charged with trespassing battery and interfering with the duties of a police officer. Does that look still...
In? Apparently so. I thought we were done. I thought it was like skinny jeans now. The guy was in San Francisco to attend a funeral of a close friend. The last thing he wanted was people confronting about his pants. Hustling, yeah. Right. Also, some bad news. Arizona and New Mexico are facing a heightened risk of fire. There are strong winds forecasted to sweep through this weekend. So just hope right now the fire in Arizona is 33% contained. There you go. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, Rory McIlroy, the Irishman, fired a 6 under par 65 in the first round of the 111th U.S. Open. He's been really good at getting the lead early in tournaments. Hasn't been good at holding it. This is him talking about his round. Cut one. It felt like quite a simple 65. You know, I didn't do much wrong. I think I hit 17 out of 18 greens. Wow. I just kept giving myself opportunities for birdies. You know, when you can do that in the U.S. Open, you know, it's pretty good. That's awesome. 17 out of 18 green. That's in-freaking-credible. This was an absolutely crazy story. There's a catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates. His name is Chris Snyder. Well, he just had back surgery, so his wife was driving him. Yeah. She almost hit this guy on a scooter. The guy's name is Subash Arajnavi Modwaria. Okay. Okay, they almost collided. They ended up pulling in a gas station. This guy attacked her.
with keys in his hand, and he was punching her. Meanwhile, Chris Snyder, the catcher for the Pirates, is sitting in the car helpless. Cannot move. He had just had back surgery. No. Yes, dude. Insane. So bystanders jumped in and grabbed this guy, threw him in jail. Oh. Imagine sitting there. You can't move. You're frozen. You have back surgery. You're not doing anything. And this guy's punching your wife with keys in his hand. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my God. It got me. When I read that story, I was like. Oh, gosh. And their two children were in the car. Nar. Put that guy down. Yep. Oh, that is a crazy story. Being held on $25,000 bail. That's it? That's it. A couple of the guys from Switchfoot will be in the studio at 9 o'clock and be talking about the Bro-Am. So get ready for that. All right. So it is time, ladies and gentlemen, for Pick a Scene. And L.O.B. is going to be playing Jack from Titanic. We're going to tape all this. And she's got her sketch easel pad and wearing a wig to look like Jack. And Sienna's playing Rose. Yes. Bring it on the biggins.
We have your microphone all set up at the couch. We've cleared the couch for you. Okay, thanks. And, uh... Tiana, you need to just go ahead and disrobe and just get started. I have a robe on. Oh. It's my rose robe. Oh, wow. That is really... That is gorgeous. Look at her fun bags on that horse helmet. All right, Tiana. Look at my shirt. Oh, it's fabulous. It's hot. It's super hot. You know, you're jack. I can't look at L.O.B. right now. Why? I have beautiful hair. You look like Carol Brady. Yes, she does. All right, Sienna, go lay down because we have your mic over there in the whole thing. Oh, yeah. Remember. Oh, wow. That is sensual. She is laying just like Rose. I think. Yeah, and I have a microphone over there at the couch. She's laying on the couch. We're filming all... This is so great. And... Will this light do? Don't artists need good light? Oh, wait. Wait, she needs a microphone. Let's start over. Yeah, we got to get you on this mic. Back up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There you go. Should I just be over here? There you go. Okay, and start over. Action. Will this light do? Don't artists need good light? That is true. I am not used to working under such aribou conditions. Hey, Monet. Isn't he great? His use of color. I saw him once through a hole in a garden in Gevenne.
Oh, this thing is awful. Cal insists on lugging this huge thing around. Should I be expecting him anytime soon? Not if the cigars and brandy hold up. Oh, wow. She's handing the heart of the ocean. No, it's a diamond. A rare diamond. Oh, this is so creepy. It's called the heart of the ocean. It's creepy, Jason. Now, Jag, I want you to paint me like one of your French girls. Oh, my God. Wearing this. Wearing... Only this. I have plenty of portraits of me looking like a China doll. And, you know, as a paying customer, I expect to get what I want. Am I positioned okay? Oh, wow. Bend your left leg a little. And lower your head. Okay. Now, eyes to me.
Yes. Yes, that's it. Look at you, Mr. Big Artiste. You're blushing. So stupid. I can't imagine Monsieur Monet. He paints landscapes. That's it, peeps. Oh, my gosh. Look at the thing. Look at the deal. Please look at her easel. She is quite the artiste. Yes, she is. Oh, my gosh. The easel. The easel. Unbelievable. Can I get a copy of that? Oh, my gosh. Let's hear it for him. Quite possibly. Well done, ladies. The greatest of all time. Well done. Sienna, were you nervous? No, I didn't think I'd remember my lines, but I did. Yeah, you did a good job. You did great. I'm so glad that my name has never been drawn. It will be. It will be. We should do this bit again in about four months.
Well, we had an idea, and the idea is called Why Are We Here? Okay? Now, as you know, Woodsy and I and L.O.B., we do voices, okay? And we do voices of people here at the station like Garrett, you know, program director. Garrett. Garrett. You also do Jay's voice. Of course. Mm-hmm. But we do celebrity voices, too. And so we are going to do something now. Called Why Are We Here? Now, Jay, do we have these baskets with the stuff in it? Right there by Sienna. All right, so here's how we do this. First, we are going to draw two names, and that's going to be the characters. Then we're going to draw where we are. And we have to discuss why are we here. The first name drawn is Mike Tyson. And the second name drawn is... Tattoo and Mr. Rourke. You three voices. Have fun. I'm going to go take it to the house. Holy... Oh, that's perfect. Oh, great. And the location is a World War II battlefield. Oh, my gosh. So we have the location. I can try Tattoo for you. Oh, my gosh.
This is something else, isn't it? It's weird because I'm so used to fighting, yet I'm so scared just being here. Yes, Mike, I understand that. I can understand why you are so nervous. I mean, after all, you grew up in a get-home, and you are probably not used to conflict like this. No, I don't think that's why he is so nervous. He just took them talk, boss. Oh, look, they're playing! They're playing! Tattoo, this is not the type of plane that you are going to look forward to. You see, this one is going to drop bombs on our ass, okay? Should I be wearing a helmet or anything? Because I feel like I'm completely exposed. What the hell happened to my sound effects? I don't know. I think Jay loaded them. From time to time when Jay loads the sound effects. I'm the boss. He screws it up.
I thought Jay was perfect. How could he screw it up? I thought everything about the guy was perfect. Well, apparently not. You know, boss, I've never said the helicopter, the helicopter. Hey, listen, what do we do if we have to go pee? If you have to go pee, there's like a little thing where you can go step inside and do it that way. No, you can't, guys. We are in the midst of a battle. There it goes again, boss. That's it. That's Why Are We Here. Bravo, my friend. Bravo, dude. Thank Sybil over there. Wow. Wow, wow, and wow. That was awesome. Next time we do Why Are We Here, we'll draw different ones. We'll leave those names out, and we'll draw from different ones. Crystal Harris. You know Crystal Harris because she went to La Jolla High School. Playboy Playmate was going to marry Hugh Hefner. Tomorrow.
And didn't you say they had to do something with the issue or something? Yeah, pretty crazy because obviously she would be Hef's new bride. She was going to be the July issue right on the cover of Playboy. And they've already had everything run. They've already done the copies and everything like that, printed everything. And so it says Mrs. Crystal Hefner on the cover. Oh, wow. And so now he had to call for these special red stickers to go over it that says Runaway Bride. She said, well, the wedding is off because I was only doing it because I thought that's what she wanted. That's what she said. Right. Well, I guess now, yeah, this is her talking about it. I disappointed everybody. You know, I feel like I did. A 25-year-old playmate in tears over dumping 85-year-old Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner one week before their fairytale wedding. I don't want to hurt anybody, and I don't want to hurt him. Would you be hurting him because? You weren't in love with him? How would she hurt him? I'd leave him at the altar. Well, not quite at the altar, but a couple days before. No, no, no. She said the reason she called it off was because she didn't want to hurt him. Oh. Well. I thought if he found out that the only reason I wanted to marry him was so I could further my career, then maybe he might be upset. That might be upsetting to him. Yes, Crystal. I think she's talking about sexually. Oh, wow. Of course you do. Could be. Jay? Crystal, when you made this decision,
and had to tell Hef, tell me about that conversation. I went in and... I spoke very loud. And I sat down with him, told him that I was overwhelmed with everything, that I wasn't feeling too well, and I didn't think maybe the wedding was the best idea. I was, like, super afraid to say anything. Because, you know, Playboy isn't just Hef, it's, like, the whole family, and everyone's been planning this wedding. And, surprisingly, he kind of agreed with me. First, I had to repeat myself three times because he couldn't hear me. I didn't know what you said. I said I wanted to call off the wedding. You want to ball off? No, I want to call off the wedding. Let's ball off. We balled off last week. I want to call off the wedding. What? I want to call off the wedding. Who are you? Who are you? Babe. Oh, hi, baby. Hi. What are you doing? I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you. When are we getting married? I don't want to get married. To me? Yeah, specifically to you. You don't want to get married with me? No, I don't want to get married with you. Do you have any soup? You have some still left on your chin. Is it pea soup? Yes, it's your favorite. She didn't feel comfortable, she says. How did you arrive at the decision to call it off?
Well, I realized I was marrying an 85-year-old man. It was actually pretty easy once I thought about it. Yeah, because I'm 25. Well, what happened was I walked in the bathroom and he was going number two. And I said, I got to get the hell out of here right now. I can honestly say I was not the only woman in house life. And I didn't feel comfortable in my heart knowing that and being able to get married to him. Because a marriage is between two people and that's not what our relationship was. Yeah. Did you say that that was probably the main reason that you called it off? And he was 85. I would say, contrary to popular belief, not every girl wakes up and thinks, first I'm going to pose nude. Then I'm going to live in this mansion amongst other nude girls. Yes. Then I'm going to go get drunk in a grotto and accept a proposal from an 85-year-old man. I thought that is what everyone... You know, I thought it's what I wanted. I thought it was. At the time. I mean, that's one of the reasons. Stress. You know, we had to, we're dealing with. This hip. Lawyers. I've never, I've never had a lawyer for anything. And here we are, I'm going to prenup lawyers and, you know, lawyers to do a show. We had a two hour special. She wanted a prenup because she didn't want him to take her for everything she has. And that's the reason you get the prenup is so, you know, later on, if she precedes him in death.
Right. Right. He doesn't get her fortune. Right. Because that can happen. $77 in a checking account. Yeah. $77 and a fiat. Now, what about this whole thing with Dr. Phil's son, Crystal? Crystal, I'm going to give you this opportunity to set the record straight. Did you have a relationship with Jordan McGraw? Jordan's one of my friends. So there's never, ever been a physical relationship between the two? Tim McGraw. What about Jordan Knight? We've just been friends. It was also business. Crystal says she was working with Jordan, a songwriter and music exec, on her own singing career. I've worked on music with Jordan. I've known him for a year. You know, he's one of my friends. He will continue to be one of my friends. Are you dating anyone? People say so many things. It's like, I'll go out with a mansion security guard that's close in age with me. And I'll like... Kiss him with my tongue and people will think we're not. We were saying goodnight. That's just French. It's no big deal. All of a sudden, he's my boyfriend. People are going to say what they want. Well, you were marrying an 85-year-old guy. They're going to say stuff. What about regrets? Any regrets? There's definitely an age difference. What? Just figured that out. That's one of the things I've been thinking about all this for a while.
Did anyone try to warn you against marrying Hef? Well, besides everyone, no. Family and friends. A couple of family members. Neighbors, fans. Family, friends, fans. Acquaintances, people I barely knew. A woman at Vons. My pets. My pets. Germans. Germans from Germany that don't speak English. You had a parakeet that actually said, don't. Avatars. Yeah, avatars have done it. They warned me. Inanimate objects, my toaster the other day, said don't do it. Is there anything that you would do differently? Nothing different. Any regrets at all? Posing naked, drunk in the grotto, saying yes. Other than that, nothing. No regrets. Crystal, how long do you think that it's going to take you to recover from this breakup? I have no idea. 45 minutes. I'm already over. I'm over. Yeah. What relationship? I've been over it since before it started. I actually have a date tonight that I'm really excited about. Are we almost done? You know what I'm going to do tomorrow. Well, there it is. Now, this is an interesting story, and I'm not making it up. Stephen Urkel. What's his real name? Jaleel White. Jaleel White has revealed that in the later seasons of Family Matters, he was forced to hide his bulge. Yes. You silly sausage.
Well, if you were a fan of the show Family Matters, you remember what Steve Urkel wore. Jeans that were extremely tight. But weren't they also like up to his chest? Up to his chest with suspenders. Yes. So, I mean, you're going to mature on the show because he was a pretty young kid. And things may start getting bigger. He's a black guy, too. You know? Enormous. Huge. In the new issue of Vanity Fair, he says, quote, I was getting network notes. On the bulge of my sack, I wore my pants so freaking tight. And it was like, after a while, we got a problem there. So literally, the last season, we loosened up Urkel's pants, his pants. longer than it's ever been. He also said he couldn't go to the gym, he couldn't change his hair, he couldn't do anything. He couldn't go to the gym? Yeah, because he would get too big and his character was this scrawny, skinny little guy. He said he literally had to do everything he could to stop his growth. That's probably why they created Stefan Urkel. It was his alter ego. And he'd take the glasses off and he'd wear a suit and he'd be really smooth. Yeah, sign me up for that. Brilliant. Stefan Urkel.
Yeah, Stefan Urkel. Instead of Steven Urkel. That is so awkward. Well, Stefan has the bulge. I don't. Steven doesn't. Can I do that? Can I do that? Can I do that? You can't make that up. You can't. That's brilliant. We got an email we're going to read to you about a tough decision. This dude is facing has to do at Wrigley Field. All the things that Oprah says is her dream. Wait till you hear her say it. Is it narcissistic what she would like what her dream is? Her own personal chilies. Cheesecake Trump. We'll tell you when we come back. Make some noise. I was the creep. Yeah. I was kissing boys when they were sleeping. How old? I like being out in the country too, man. Throw a dip of snuff in, have a couple beers, kind of feel like a man, right? I want a flight in New York just to go to the Pop-Tart store. I can cry now at the drop of a hat, something just sad. On FM 94.9. I want to slice Wood's head open and study it. How about it? You can say what you just said.
Well, we're looking up at the Casey Anthony trial, and Casey Anthony's claiming that, you know, her dad and her brother did stuff as she was growing up. So I said to Woods, I go, Woods, if you met a girl, she's beautiful, you fall in love, and then she admits that to you, would it affect you in terms of, you know, falling in love while being with her? He says, I would slay her, I would not be with her. Quote was, I'd sleep with her. He said, I'd sleep with her. I wouldn't date her. And he said that he would definitely use protection. Yeah, definitely. And I said, I go, in case what? Like her father had AIDS? And he's like, yeah. He goes, you told me that you wanted me to be completely honest with you. And then I reconsidered that I wanted him to be that honest. I was thinking to myself, maybe he should placate me. That's a true statement.
What would you do? It would not. Well, this is the part. This is the only part that would affect me, as I would think to myself, maybe there's too much baggage here. Like, we all have baggage. Maybe. I've dated three or four girls like that. Jay, you would have still slept with her, though. Oh, 100%. Oh, my God. It's not a minority opinion, my friend. I'm telling you. But, yeah, she's probably been all over the place. What? I met a lot of girls with a lot of baggage. It didn't stop me. It stopped me from marrying them or dating them. Yeah, it didn't stop me. Oh. Write all that down. My gosh. Busted. True statement. When I think I know my friend Woods, when I go, I know him. I know him. I can't believe you're surprised. Oh, I'm not just surprised. I'm shocked. The girls are not surprised at all. Of course he said that. Yeah.
There's a saying. No, but he means it. Crazy in the head, crazy in bed. Crazy in the head, crazy in bed, Mike. There's a saying. If it has two legs, I'm in. Yeah. Does it have a pulse? I'm in. I'm surprised you're surprised. Yeah. Tonight's 8 o'clock album, Led Zeppelin. Garrett. Zeppelin 4. Nice. Let's see. So, yeah. What do you suppose would be Oprah's dream? This is what she said. I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me. I am going to make that happen, people. I could study that endlessly. I could study the psychology of that. That is, that's what she, that's her thing. That's it. I want him to confess to me. I'll uncover everything. I'll bring Michael Jackson back from the day.
You get a murder. You get a murder. I solved the Kennedy case. I've decided I want to tell people where JFK Jr.'s plane is. Oh, gosh. That's it. Hopefully, OJ was responsible so I can report on that. Crazy. I ain't telling you anything, man. My friends with you. You never golf with me. I think Oprah did it, by the way. You think Oprah did it, OJ? 100%. Why? Was she there? Was she in Chicago the night it happened? Yes. But it happened in L.A. You don't know that, man. Oh, that's true. She could have been in L.A. Reasonable doubt. Reasonable doubt is all it takes. That's right. That's how you got off. Yeah. Mm-hmm. If Oprah can't spit, you have to acquit. You just spread your hand out really far so that that glove wouldn't go on. Look, man. Ow. You know. Check it out. Ow.
Ouch. Cut my circulation off. Ouch. In fact, you actually gave yourself arthritis in the months leading up to the trial so that your hands would be swollen. OJ looked like one of those guys in the infomercial that's trying to open a jar. Have you tried to cut pickles lately? Have you tried using a pen? Have you tried drinking coffee? Tired of walking to the car and falling everywhere. That's why we've created the easy walk. So you can walk to the car without killing yourself. The greatest one is the colander. Have you burned yourself and the lady's trying to strain pasta and she's like... It spills everywhere. You're like, you know, people have been straining pasta now for a few years and have been getting by.
This lady's got fourth degree burns past the bone from a pot of pasta. All right, so we got this email that I want to read to you and see what you think about this. Mikey, thought you guys would get a kick out of this. It's been my lifelong dream to go to Wrigley Field to see a Cubs game. We finally have the extra scratch to go, but my wife insists on buying curtains with the money. Should I divorce her? Kidding, Mikey. She says that curtains will last forever, but a weekend is just a weekend. M1DD. Now, first of all, facts first. First facts, then emotion. So let's study facts, then emotion. The fact is that curtains will last longer than the weekend. That's just a fact, okay? And that the curtains will be there to...
Enjoy. The weekend will be a memory that you can enjoy. But the weekend ends after 48 hours and the curtains stay. So that's a fact. But it just comes down to now the emotional part. It comes down to practicality. We've got another fact. What? The other fact is it's been his lifelong dream to go. That's a fact. I'm considering it. Okay. But I have a solution. I have a solution. Because. He has a major point, doesn't he? Yes. Oh, yeah. Now, doesn't she have a point, too? Yes. She wants the curtains to match the carpet. It didn't say. It didn't say. Creeper. It didn't say. That's reading between the lines. I'll let her go with it. Okay. Well, didn't say that. Said she wanted curtains. Creep. But I guess she's got, they both got a point, right? It's a stalemate. So, my.
solution is real simple and i've done this in my own marriage you flip a coin holy cow really oh yeah holy cow are you kidding yeah yeah yeah now in my world it says god controls every coin flip so whatever it is is the right thing for instance woods i got one give me a coin you got it all right you're wriggly okay i'm curtains okay all right now this is real life this is real life go ahead well uh i'll call it in the air I'm curtains. I'm curtains. I'll call it in the air. Heads. Ready? Yep. It's heads. Okay, curtains. Feast. It's that easy. It's not that easy. It's that easy. I'm going to be furious. You've got to accept it. You've got to accept it. Hey, listen. I'm the bride. I'm going to be upset if it's Wrigley Field. I'm like, really? Okay, great. I don't care about baseball. But you get a weekend in Chicago having a blast with your husband. All right, this is going to sound mean, but she's actually pretty lucky. Bringing her along instead of one of his boys. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah, there you go. Look at that. Applause. I give you a hell yeah. She's not lucky. That's the wrong word. But fortunate? She's fortunate. That he wants to hang out with her and take her to Chi-Town. But don't we have to take into consideration here? Hey, it's not like they had planned for this money. The money's there and we get to decide. Are we getting curtains or are we getting... Where'd the money come from, I wonder. Yeah.
It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. They're married. How does that matter? If he earned it... Why do you assume that? Wait a minute. I'm just saying. That's what I'm asking. Hang on, though. If he earned it... Go ahead. I want to hear that thought completely. Okay, so he goes to work and maybe he works some extra hours or whatever and he's got this extra money built up. Now he's got this dream of going somewhere. I think he should be able to follow his dream. If he worked extra hours... Yeah, if he somehow earned the extra money, he earned it. If it's something she did, then I would say curtains. Well, let's say that she, let's say for instance, that she's a stay-at-home mom. Okay. So she doesn't work at all. All right. No, that's making it to, let's say that she's a stay-at-home wife. Oh, yes. She doesn't even, she's not even, okay? All right. Stay-at-home wife. He's got a great job. She just stays at home. It doesn't matter whether he's working extra or he's not working extra. He's earned the money, period. Okay. Fact. But if you're married, I thought the idea is that you guys are supposed to be, it's supposed to be you both. Hmm. I'm saying he's going to go see the game. So you say it's his money. I'm saying that he gets to do, he gets to make. Be very careful. Yes. Kim Isbell. Yes. Is listening right now. I think that he should be able to make the choice. Because it's his money? I think it's more his than hers. Oh, wow. You're a dead man. When you get home.
The locks will be changed. And when you sneak through the window, there will be a board with nails through it. Sienna, you are a very, as a wife, you usually err towards husband stuff. You're like, oh yeah, go have a ball, blah, blah, blah. Is that where you are with this? Let's go have a ball. I think the wife is a monster. I think, how dare you take your husband's dream away from him and he can reach it? What kind of a person does that? I love you. Is your dream to have curtains? No. Get some cheaper ones and call it a day. You need to have like the real expensive one that's the same price as a trip to Chicago. It's insane. Is it like Egyptian silk? No. Okay, now wait a second. Go to Ikea, pick up a couple panels and throw them up there and let your husband have a nice weekend. Together. He would not take your dream from you if it was something that you could reach. I would hope.
That's a marriage. Wouldn't you want him to be happy? Yeah, because maybe you could do both. Are curtains going to make you as happy as that trip makes him? No. That's the thing, too, is that curtains help her. The trip is actually going to be pretty cool for both of them. Yeah. Getting away for a weekend together is never going to be a bad thing. Let me ask you this then. Let me throw a monkey wrench in there. Let's say that it's his dream to go do that and that it's not curtains, but let's say two people have a lifelong dream, okay? A husband and wife each do. Yeah, yeah. His dream is to go to Wrigley Field and her dream is to, she likes outdoor stuff. She wants to skydive. And she wants to skydive someplace special. Okay. Someplace where it would be expensive to go. Grand Canyon. Yeah. Oh, I got one for you. She likes to scuba dive and she wants to go to Australia to the Great Barrier Reef. Wow. Okay. His dream is to go to Wrigley Field. Now, she doesn't work. She doesn't have any kids. She doesn't have any responsibility. And he works. And he doesn't have a job like us, where we sit behind a microphone. He's actually out there. He's cutting his hands with cables. He's out in it. He's out in it. Doing some real work. What do you do then, Sienna? She should be able to have her dream just as much as he is. Doesn't matter if he works or not. That's still her money. And if she is just as passionate about that as he is going to Wrigley Field, then...
That's tough. But you're talking apples and oranges. A trip to shy and a trip to Australia is a little different. But two dreams are equal. Wait. Financially, it's way different. Oh, it's more expensive? Yes. You go to Great Barrier Reef or Chicago? You're talking a matter of tens of thousands of dollars. Okay. I mean, dude, I don't think it costs you tens of thousands of dollars. It doesn't cost tens of thousands of dollars to go to Australia. To go to Australia. That trip could cost you $10,000. All right. Well, then it's her dream to go. Let's say they're equal in price. Yes. Well, if they're equal in price, then they both get it. But those two trips aren't equal. No, no, no. They don't both get it. Only one gets it. One gets it later than the other one. Then I see the flip of coin. Which one gets it later? Then I can see flipping a coin. Yeah. If you both agree to do it. Hey, we're both going to do our dreams. We'll see who goes first. Even though no kids, she doesn't work. He worked for the money. I have a little beef. You do. Yeah, I do. I can't deny that I do. But I do. L.O.B.? I mean, if he's the one that's solely working, it just depends on the dynamic they agreed on. Now, I would never be in that position because I'd like to earn my money and do things. And if I were in that position, I would be like, all right, now, is this going to be the deal where it's our money or is this your money where I'm going to have to ask for it? No, but you can't. No. It just depends on what they agree on. That's not marriage. Some people have that dynamic. I have that dynamic.
So that's the dynamic in my house. My wife makes her own money. Well, yours is yours. What's mine is mine. Yeah. Hey, and if I need something, I get it from her. And if she needs something from me, she gets it from me. But we don't pool our dough and we don't have one checkbook. I got mine. She's got hers. We both have different debit cards, different accounts. Yeah. My account's here. Hers is in Texas. I mean, that's the dynamic that works for us. And it works. We never fight about money. Never. And when I say never, never, ever do we fight about money. That's one of the number one problems people have. Sienna, you and Todd have separate accounts. Uh-huh. Yeah. And he works, you work. Yeah. He pays certain bills. I pay certain bills. I'll write the rent check. He does all the others. I mean, it's just, if I need money, yeah, absolutely. He'll write me a check. He'll give me whatever I need, and I'll do the same for him. Because you know what? It stops me going to bankofamerica.com and going, oh, wow, that's $200 for hair extensions and freaking out about it. If I don't know she's doing it, I'm like, all right. Yeah. I don't want Todd knowing how much I spent on Sage's Fourth of July dress. Exactly. Exactly. How much did you spend on Sage's Fourth of July dress? It was from a store called Spoiled Rotten. Oh, my gosh. Fourth of July dress. We have dresses now for Fourth of July. It's red and white with butterflies. Wow. I bet it's badass. Please tell me. Please tell me. How much? How much? Say it.
Really? Write a number down. Please. Just write a number down on a piece of paper. Sage is nine months old, by the way. Holy smokes. Is that that much? No. Not to me. It was $85. It's a lot. It's a lot. Now, if he saw that, though, in the bank thing, if he saw online, spoiled rotten, $85, he would go... He would be like, what the heck are you doing in a store called spoiled rotten, you idiot? He'd go, how many outfits did you get for $85? I got one. Rebecca got a baby bag called, like, Petula... Pickle or something? Pickle, Petula. Petula, my pickle or something? My sister has the same one. Come on, man. Come on, dude. What is it, Petula something? It's Petula something. My sister has the same one. Shock jock. Yeah. It was like... What's your deal? Sometimes you splurge. $300. Yeah, I know. I know. Dude. You know what you put in there? Diapers? Yeah. Purses. Bottles. Purses in my home are worth more than what my Suburban is. Yeah, but your mom buys a lot of those purses. Not all of them. Really? Yeah.
Sage has already worn her dress, though. I just want to say that. At least she wears it more than once. She wears my sister's graduation. M1 Cubby from San Diego. Hi, how you doing? Just wanted to tell you guys that going to Wrigley Field is not just going to Wrigley Field. I'm from Chicago, and I moved out here. And when I met my wife, I told her that's what I wanted to do. And we've been doing it every year for about 10 years now. It's rad. Yeah, but what if a dream's a dream? You know, a dream is a dream. Like, you want to go to Wrigley. That was my dream. I told her I wanted to go back for a game, and then she enjoyed it so much, she wanted to do it again. Well, my question to you is, what if she's got a dream, and you guys both have it? What do you do? Well, it came up last year. She wanted to go to New York, and so we said, okay. Are you there now? Yeah, sounds like it. And so we went to New York last year. So, you know, you kind of have to weigh in on that, but, I mean, it's a pair of curtains. Like, I think it was the Sienna said that go to Ikea. I mean, how much does curtains cost? Yeah. That's pretty ridiculous. Yeah. She wants the good ones. See, and I can see that. That makes sense to me. You know, do you really need... Compromise. Yeah. And it's not like you can go, well, do you really need to see the Chicago Cubs?
And can't we see the El Paso Cubs? La Mesa Cubs. The La Mesa Cubs. You know, there's a high school named Cubs. We can go see the high school team play. Why don't I buy you a pack of Wrigleys instead of going to Wrigley Field? I'll get you a little teddy bear cub and you'll be fine. You watch them on TV, WGN. They're on every day. We have to go see those Cubs? The Cub Scouts are selling some magazines outside of Mons. Make that right. There's baby Cubs at the zoo. Let's go. M1 Ron from San Diego. Yeah, so I wanted to hit a little bit on what the other guy just said. He said, how expensive can curtains be? Now, this guy goes to work every day with his dream in mind, and he starts saving his money to go watch the Cubs play baseball at Wrigley Field. Now, you said the weekend ends in 48 hours, but that memory will last with him forever. I agree. He'll be replaced in a couple years. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, man. I mean, I just, how do you say that to somebody? How do you say, you know, how do you say to somebody that their feelings, however strong, they don't matter? My feelings are more important. Yeah, my dream is more important than your curtains. My dream is more important. I think in that case, I think his dream is more important than curtains. Now, hey man, I'm not saying that I disagree with you. Right. I'm just saying that.
In a marriage, don't you have to kind of discuss? Yeah, for sure. There is no way this thing's going down without a discussion. There's no way. I mean, this is going to be, you know, she's got to acquiesce and he's going to have to acquiesce a little bit too. She'd feel like a turd, right? Yeah. When she's hanging those curtains though, can you imagine? She's got the look on her face like, that's why the coin flip doesn't work for me, man. Oh, I'd be so mad. He would be hanging foil in the windows. Yeah, and then he's got to hang them. Well, the thing that got me was what Sienna said. The thing that got me was when she said, you know, because how much is a trip to Wrigley Field in Chicago with the plane tickets and all that? Let's say it's six grand. I'm guessing like two grand. And I think that's what gets me. I'm like, curtains for $2,000? Curtains are not cheap. I don't know what they are. They are not cheap. $2,000? We spent a ton of money. We had them come in. Well, I stole them. All the windows had to be custom fit. They were expensive, so I stole them. We went to a curtain party, and I made it to go. Yeah, I made it to go box. A to go box. At the toga party. I took Jasper to the store and had him just shove them down his pants. And we just walked out. And I said he was like Stephen Urkel. He's like a fat kid. I went to a toga party. I collected everyone's togas. I made curtains. Yeah.
Two and one. People come over, they go, are those Toga curtains? Sure as hell are. Don't worry about it. Keep your eyes on your own papers. The Grecian look. We're going to be talking to Tim and Chad from Switchfoot in just a second. Sienna, what's going on in the news? Well, news came out of San Francisco a while ago that they were trying to ban circumcision on boys. Now they're trying to place a ban on the sales of goldfish, tropical fish. and guppies that are within the borders of the city because they're found in inhumane conditions in the fish tanks. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. This is also crazy. A Big Bear High School, they're trying to collect all the yearbooks they gave out because in the background of a photo, the focus is not on this couple. They're just in the background at a dance. Yeah. There are two 17-year-olds, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl doing inappropriate things at the dance. His hand is in an inappropriate area. For real? Yes.
And the editors of the yearbook, they didn't see this, obviously, when they gave them out. And then someone noticed it, and everyone went nuts. So what do they got to do? It's child pornography. Well, I know. So what do they got to do? They got to recall all the- They're trying to collect all the yearbooks in Big Bear right now because of this. Imagine if you were that couple. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry, Mom. Yeah. Oh. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? Well, the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup the other night, but the real story now is the riots that have gone down in Vancouver. Almost 150 people required hospital treatment in the riots in Vancouver. There's been three stabbing victims. A guy is in critical condition. He's got head injuries after he fell. Nine police officers were injured, including one who needed 14 stitches. 15 cars were burned. And two police cars were also burned. Oh, my gosh. Dude, they love their hockey in Canada. Weirdest thing, too, they were showing this riot, and there's this now very infamous couple that is kissing. In the middle of the street, in the middle of a riot, they're making out. She's kind of cute, too. It's so weird. It's very strange. Also, the Padres are traveling to Minnesota to take on the Twins. Interleague play is back. It's 5-10 tonight at Target Field. There you go.
The local chapters of Stand Up for Kids are going to be benefiting from the seventh annual Switchfoot Bro-Am, which is going to be going on tomorrow. And I was just talking to Tim and Chad about it, and Chad was saying, it's always been good waves. You guys have always gotten lucky because there's always been good waves when you guys have done this thing. And so hopefully tomorrow is the same thing, and you guys will... Have some good luck with this thing. But thanks for coming in here, guys. Good to see you. Thank you. Thanks for having us. You guys just finished going all over the planet, right? Weren't you guys touring kind of everywhere? Yeah, we did Australia. Asia. All over Asia. Canada. Speaking of Canada. Man, I feel bad for those guys. They were fired up about that. Oh, yeah. You know, the championship. You know, here in the States, do we really care? I mean, you've got, you know, people up in Boston are into it. There's seven or eight people in San Diego that are into it. They're very passionate. And breathe hockey. Yeah. And everyone down here is like, oh, did we win? Right. Right. Yeah. Well, what was the craziest place that you played in terms of fans just flipping out for you guys on this last tour? Man, the Philippines was pretty amazing. I remember following you guys on Twitter and seeing that. Like, you guys, wherever you guys would be, you'd update.
And you'd say what a crowd was like, what a crowd was like. And I remember that. Well, that one's especially cool for us because Jerome, our keyboard player, is Filipino. He was born there. So it's a hometown show for him. Yeah. Man, the fans come out to the airport with signs to welcome him. Wow. Yeah, it's cool. He's kind of our ticket in. Yeah. It's pretty cool. And we're going to talk about the bro-am that's going on tomorrow. I want to ask you guys, too, about the new album. finished uh everything with the new album because i know that we we talked the last time you guys were in here and we're talking to tim and chad from switchfoot the last time you guys were in we were talking about how the writing process for the first album i know that you guys had written and recorded uh or either written and recorded or written like 85 songs you guys did so many songs and so from that much work there's got to be so much great stuff and so um how do you guys decide I mean, with that much material, how do you decide? Boxing gloves. Yeah. Because some of them's got to be real important to one of you. And another guy's like, well, what about this? This is perfect. We have to do this. We have to put this on there. Yeah. That's always the hardest part of making a Switchfoot record is trying to figure out the right songs. Yeah. We arm wrestle. Rock, paper, scissor. That's the good kind of friction, though, that you have when you're passionate about a song, you're passionate about the art. Yeah.
You know, but yeah, you leave those arguments when you walk out of the studio. And it's got to be a thing, too, where, you know, because you all contribute something different to the band. And like Chad, you're the drummer for the band. And so there's got to be some some records that you go. And that song is like it's got the coolest. Coolest drum thing going on. Guys, didn't you hear that drum hill? That was so good. You're not listening. Listen again. Listen to that. Turn it up. Well, I'm going to speak for Chad and say that he definitely nailed it on this record. Nice. It's the most rhythmic record we've ever made, and the drums are a big part of that. Now, drums and bass, because you play bass, and drums and bass, you guys kind of are... Yeah, we hang out. Yeah. You know? Hold it down. The two of you have to work together, right? Like, one keeps the other one in time. Is that how it works? Yeah, it's like... Yeah, I'm not sure how it works exactly, but, you know, the drum and bass, they're brothers. Yeah. Brothers in arms. Yeah. The last record was Hello Hurricane. And I said this last time you guys were in. I love this band. Switchfoot means a lot to me personally because my wedding song is on fire. And the album The Beautiful Letdown for me was such a soundtrack in my life.
And it was such an important album in my life. And Hello Hurricane came out. And there's this whole meaning for me with hurricanes. I've got a hurricane tattoo on my wrist. And it got me through such a hard time in my life. That album did. And it replaced Beautiful Letdown as my favorite album. It's such a good album. And if I had to kind of think of like a theme and you guys would probably have a totally different answer, you know, because the music means such different things to different people. But if I had to think of a theme of Hello Hurricane, it was so inspiring and it was so sweet. And it was really, really lyrically, I felt like that album was so honest. So if you guys are thinking about this, describing this next album to us, the next Switchfoot album, which is coming out when? September 27th. Okay. And have you guys said the name of the album yet? Yeah. It's called Vice Versus. Vice Versus. Is there a kind of... Describe it to us. We were so proud of Hello Hurricane. You know, that record really captured a lot of emotion for us. Those songs are very real for us.
So we wanted to kind of capture that energy, that emotion, and then take a giant leap forward musically. Right. And we set a lot of goals for this record, and we're really happy with it. We accomplished those goals. I feel like it's going to surprise a lot of people musically. Yeah. You know, with every record, like you said, we record 85 songs, so there's a lot of colors in there. and you choose which colors you put on a record and i think with this record we chose some colors that maybe people haven't seen really before that and that now that's so cool because i remember uh i remember the first time on the last record on on hello hurricane i remember hearing a mess of me was the first uh single right and i remember hearing it and thinking this is so rad it sounds so different You know, it's such a different sounding switch song and it like instantly iconic. You know, I mean, from the very beginning of that song, it's like instantly iconic and very different, you know, so different. So I get excited hearing you say, hey, man, this thing's different. You know, this new album is going to surprise you. It's going to be different. Is there slow songs, fast songs? Is it more slow, more fast? Well, it's kind of an album of polarity. And I think.
thematically it is. And musically, I think we did that as well. So there's some really rock moments and then some really kind of sparse moments as well. Yeah, I want some songs that'll make me bawl my eyes out. Like always. Done. Yeah. Done. Yeah, this record is packed with emotion. Really? So there'll be a couple of songs that'll get me. Yeah, I weep openly. Good. That's what I want. I'm right there with you. I'm right there with you. I hear always 24 from Beautiful Letdown, On Fire, and from the last record, even Sing It Out. It's got so much guts. That's the thing. Hello Hurricane, that record had guts. And balls. Yeah. Balls. The sound, you know, the song, the sound. Dude, balls. Balls. So I'm really excited about the new album and it's going to come out on September 22nd. Or it's 27th. Yeah. 27th. Switchfoot, Tim and Chad are hanging out with us because tomorrow's the bro-am. And it is, it takes place at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. These are local guys, man.
And it's a surf contest. It happens from 7 o'clock in the morning to 3.30 in the afternoon. And then you guys will actually play too? Switchfoot will play? Or how does it work? We keep that a little open-ended. We're playing at the fair tonight. So if you want to see a real big Switchfoot show, full lights and all that, that's what happens tonight at the fair. Awesome. And on the beach, we're always trying to shine the spotlight at other bands. Yeah. I'm sure we'll jump up and do something at some point. We've got a great lineup, the local bands. We've got the Silent Comedy, the Howls. That's rad. Those are some FM 94.9 bands, man. San Diego's got so much good music. Yeah. And it's free. Yep. Free all day. Last time you guys were in, John said that FM 94.9 was, I think he said it was like the first San Diego station that he heard you guys played on. And he was like, I remember where I was driving. which was really cool. How do you guys record? Because you're from San Diego, do you prefer to record here in town and that kind of deal? Yeah, we built our own studio. That must be nice. We got tired of commuting to L.A. We burned a lot of hours on the freeway recording up in Hollywood. There's something incredible about being in your own hometown, going to the beach, going to your local coffee shop.
Sleeping in your own bed. Right. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah. This studio was built for us and there's nothing like that. You know, being able to be in an environment that just feels like your house. That's why we got a couch in here. That's why we have a pinata. You know, I need to feel. Exactly. Just like home. It's just like home for me. And I need to be able to to feel that. So hopefully some more hopefully some more Grammys. will come out of this new record that's coming up because the last one got a Grammy for best rock gospel album. Would you have put it in a rock gospel category? Because I've always thought of Switchfoot as a rock band. So rock gospel, that's kind of different, right? Yeah, you know, we've always been very open about our faith. Yeah. But for us, it's not a genre. It's a faith, you know. So I think... We're honored to be associated with Christ, but we don't see it as something that, oh, so this gets stocked on this shelf as opposed to that shelf. These are songs about life that we can all relate to. I love it. So when you win a Grammy, do they ship it to you? Is that the deal? Funny story, we actually just received our Grammys finally yesterday. Yeah, because do you write? That's awesome. It happened yesterday. I'd be like...
Dear Mr. Grammy, where is it? Where's my Grammy? Where's my freaking Grammy? It happened in February, and they hand you one on stage, and you walk off stage, and they grab it and give it to the next guy. So it's kind of a fake Grammy. Right. And you're like, wait a second, I don't get to go home with anything? You're like, I won a Grammy, I swear. We won tonight. It's in the mail, it's in the mail, it'll be there. Well, February, man, it's June, we just got it yesterday. Do you guys, when you held it, is it heavy? Or is it kind of light? I'd say it's mid. Not too light, not real super heavy. I think it might be plastic. Is it bright painted gold? Is it pretty awesome? It's pretty awesome. And, you know, where do you put a Grammy? I don't know. You haven't figured it out yet. We have those, you know. You have, like, the gold wreckers. They're all just sitting in a stack in my closet because you can't hang that stuff at your house. It's a little, like, check me out. Yeah, you can? Yes, you can. I think you can. I don't know. In the hallway? Bring them here. We'll hang them here. You need a room. As a kid, you know, you come home with a report card and you put it on the refrigerator. Yeah. Just put it on the refrigerator. There you go. It's magnets. I can relate.
I won a fantasy football league one time. There you go. You totally know what we're talking about. Almost exactly the same, right? Well, that's pretty awesome, guys. I think it's really cool. And I love how open you are about your faith. And I think that's awesome. And it's just so cool, man. This band means so much to me. Man, I hope you guys can let us hear some of that stuff. You know, we're excited. Let's plan it out. We'll have to come down. I would love it, man. Play the record. I would love, love, love it. I love Switchfoot. And you guys are just such good guys. And it doesn't matter, you know, because in this industry, you get to meet so many people in rock music. And so I've met so many people. And talk about humble, man. I just I love when you guys come in, you know. You're always just right up to people and right up to your fans. There's no rock star vibe. And you have every reason to be in that category because you guys have achieved as much as you've achieved. How many albums is this going to make for you? Number eight. I had to think about that one. Yeah, eight. 2.6 million copies.
for The Beautiful Letdown alone. 2.6 million copies of The Beautiful Letdown were sold. That's got to be a trip. It's weird when you start talking about numbers because it's a head trip for us to think that that many people have heard a song that was written in a bedroom at 3 o'clock in the morning trying to figure out life. It's a weird thing to think about how many people... I've heard the music, you know. What is the, is it weird, because I'm not a musician, so is it weird to ask about the creative process and how you guys do that? Is that kind of an area where as a musician you're like, it's more fun to play it than talk about it? Kind of like sausage where you enjoy it but you don't want to see how it's made. You don't want to see how it's made? Is it weird like that for you guys? Because I don't know, like if somebody said, hey Mikey, tell me about writing a bit or doing a bit or something like that. Is it weird to talk about? No, but it's different every time. We try and make it different every time. We're intentional about that. I think it forces the water to find new streams instead of just running by the same paths every time. Sometimes that means switching instruments. Sometimes that means getting everyone in the room at the same time or only two guys in the room at the same time. Just kind of seeing what happens. John's the lead singer. Does he write all the lyrics?
You guys collaboratively write lyrics? How does it work? He's a great lyricist. He writes most of them, but we'll have really long discussions about kind of the final stages of them and make tweaks as a band. That's awesome. So fast. Now, what about this? Are you guys able to, I mean, I know you play these songs all the time. When is the last time that you listened to an album, and I don't mean a new one, one of the old albums from beginning to end and have you or do you just hear it so much when you're recording it you're like i can't i'm not gonna listen the whole album for me you know that happens rarely um but when when it does happen when i go back and listen to an old record that i haven't heard in years it's really enjoyable yeah because you've you've now moved on to other records and you're able to just kind of enjoy it you're not your critic hat is off yeah a little bit more because it's in the past right
You know, it's a fun way to listen to music. I'm going to ask you guys each for those two albums that we talked about that are so special. And they're all special, but these two albums in particular, The Beautiful Letdown and the last one, Hello Hurricane. Chad, we'll start with you as a drummer. Yes. What was a song from Beautiful Letdown that is really meaningful to you? In a special way. It holds a special place in your heart. Wow. I'll still say Dairy to Move. I think we play that every night. And it's a privilege to be playing a song like that that you still believe in. With eight records a band puts out, I don't know that you'd be proud of every song. Right. But I think we are. And I think there's certain songs like that, like Dairy to Move, that still mean something to me. It feels like I'm singing to myself. Right. And Hello Hurricane, what holds a special place in your heart from that album? Wow. I'd say The Sound. Yeah. I think that's a song, you know, is about a real person. A guy, John Perkins, a civil rights leader that we got to meet and hang out with a little bit and just to celebrate his life and what he's done down in the South in Mississippi.
Yeah, that song's really meaningful when it's attached to a real story, a real person. Yeah. Tim, how about you from each of those albums? Well, I'll go with 24 from The Beautiful Letdown. Yeah. That record really describes that kind of, I guess, growing up, who am I really? Yeah. Phase of life that, I don't know, does that ever end, you know? Mm-hmm. And then with Hello Hurricane, Needle and Haystack Life. Yeah. The opening track. That's the opening track. Yeah. And that's so fascinating from a fan point of view. Because now every time I hear those records, I'll remember that. I'll remember that you guys had a special place for those songs. Oh boy. Like a knife. Every day now I'm questioning why I have five dogs. I spent my afternoon cleaning up trash. I'm not a farter, but I live with farters. It definitely makes me laugh. What is the coolest thing I've ever made? We don't have that kind of time. Say it like that tonight. You're going to cut your head off. Hey Mike, come on in here for a second. Hey, listen to this. Muse. Does that sound like... Garrett, when you said it, it sounded just like this. Muse! No, I didn't. Yes, you did. I just said it. Muse. That's not right. I just said it. Muse. You're screaming. Yeah! You're screaming. They were on Forbes' list of the highest paid music acts. One of them, Muse, yeah? One of the guys from Muse is marrying somebody famous. Kate Hudson. Oh, yeah! That's right. Weird. Yeah, you made a parody to this song, Mike. Don't you remember that? I said, I...
I think that's an iconic record. I think that's a record that 25 years from now will be like a rock anthem. Yeah. Sometimes I hear songs like this and I think that bands must go, how come I didn't think of that? Yeah. Why didn't I think of that melody? Why didn't I think of that riff? Because you hear this and you go, this is so good. It just makes sense in your ears. You're like, how come some other band didn't come up with it? I always wonder.
How they're not smiling from ear to ear when they get together and finally piece a song like this together. Yeah. And they're looking at each other like. Yeah. They're like. This is great. We will be victorious. Oh, my God. We did it. We are a freaking millionaire. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. We did it. Yeah. Like the first time. Oh, my God. Do you think that the first time they were like. And as we wind on down the road. They were looking at each other like. gonna be so freaking real. You know the story of that song? Freaking, they're at this, of course, like English cottage in the middle of nowhere, you know, and Jimmy Page is sitting literally in front of a fire. He's just playing the intro, just the, you know, the beginning parts, the guitar parts of Stairway to Heaven. Right. And Robert's sitting there, he's having a cup of tea, and he's looking down at Jimmy. Jimmy playing this little riff. Robert grabs his pen, grabs a notepad. And just starts writing the words. Listening to him playing it? Just listening to him playing. And he just writes, there's a lady who's sure all the glitters is gold and she's buying a stairway to heaven. Can you imagine, though, if he had been like, nah, he didn't like it. It doesn't work. I'm going to go back and maybe rewrite some of those lyrics. Or they bring it to the other band members and they're like, that doesn't make any sense. This makes no sense. What are you talking about?
It's just the stupidest song I've ever seen. We can't put this on the record. But John Paul, it's so good. No. It's eight minutes long. But it's freaking brilliant. I don't care. We can't put it on the record. It's eight minutes long. But it's brilliant. Look, it starts slow. It winds up and builds. Listen, it's like three different songs. It's got slow, then hard, then slow, then odd. Who's going to listen that long? If somebody's going to listen in eight minutes, I could take a trip from here to Worcestershire. Maybe you're right. We should probably just put it off the record then. Let's just do it live. Live only. Perhaps if we play it live and the audience reacts to it, then maybe in four or five or six or seven years... Let's hold on to it for a little while. Then we try to play it. That's fine. All right, fine. Listen, Jimmy, play your part. I already don't like it. You don't like it. I hate it. Are you kidding me? It's a stupidest riff. It's a little girly, but it's good. It's girly. Are we rock stars or are we just harpists? Are you on your period? No, I'm not on my friggin' period. Listen to it. It's beautiful. We're a rock band. But we did acoustic numbers on the last record and nobody said squat. What? Is that a pan flute? Zamphir? Is that what we do? We buy a zamphir.
fear to play on a rock record. Get it out of my face. You know it was two against two, for sure. For sure. And then finally somebody's like, alright, well, Robert, what have you got lyrically? He could sing about a turd, it's not that bad. Yeah, you're right. Guy sang pretty good. It's growing on me. It's not bad, is it? It's alright. It's alright. Yeah, great, if we're tromping across the moors in Scotland. The drummer's like... So I just take it to the house then. You guys just going to jam and I guess I'll just take it. Yeah. When do I come in, by the way? About seven minutes in. Seven minutes? I got time to go fix this scotch. Yeah, you make a scotch. Make a sandwich. Yeah, and then seven minutes later, come back and stop playing. I could even go drop a deuce and come back. Whatever you want to do in seven minutes. You don't have to list it all.
I don't need to know about the douche. Can I run to the store? I can run to the store. Do whatever you need to do. I can shag a bird in seven minutes. Don't get me another copy of Lord of the Rings. Not a real bird, Mike. Not a real bird. A bird. That's what we call ladies in England. Birds. Birds? Birds. Shag a bird. Never heard that. That's strange because you're from England. His face when you said that was like... What kind of demented pervert? No, great. Happy birthday. Finally, I get to hear some cymbals. God. Here's you. Here, go. Yeah, great. Cymbal, cymbal, hi-hat, cymbal, hi-hat. Bye. No worries in our lives. People are going to like this. The Mikey Show. It's a good time. You know what I mean? Call 570-1949. Never once turned it on. Sienna. I feel great because I love to go on walks and I hate to run. And Jay. I like mayonnaise and crackers. On FM 94.9. Jason Priestley. What do I not know about Jason Priestley? Sienna. He did one of those things in Us Weekly. That's like 25 things you didn't know about me. And so he did a couple, shared a couple of them. And I'm part owner of a winery in British Columbia. Didn't know. That's what he is. He hasn't shaved in two or three years. Whoa. His first car was a motorcycle. What happens if you don't? Is it just a big beard? Yeah, like Grizzly Adams? Yeah. His first car was a motorcycle. That's not a car. That's what I thought when I first read it. I was like, it's not even a car. Yeah. He's worked on a potato combine. Who hasn't? I don't even know what that is. Potato combine. Combine. What is that? Do you grow potatoes? No, it's one of those things that picks potatoes. It's a machine. It's like a tractor, but it picks potatoes. Oh, wow. The first 45 seconds he ever bought was Kiss You All Over.
By XI? No. The first 45 he ever bought. Yeah, 45. You don't know what 45s are because you never had records. Yeah. You have never... You never owned a record. Right, Tiana? That's true. You never bought a record album. No. Oh, wow. I never have either and I'm a couple years older. This will get you. He bought this on 45. Yeah, just like... Sitting in his room by himself. Jason Priestley. Feathering his hair. You know what they're talking about, right? It's not real subtle. Please watch closely as I use my lips. It's like getting slapped by a donkey. Right in the stomach. Oh, yeah. Jason Priestley. Exile didn't. They kind of went into exile.
Dude, there was like nine guys in exile. Is that right? Oh, God. They whack up that $80 they got per gig? I mean, just nerdy-looking white guys. Now, they're about 72, okay? The guy's in exile. And the guy comes over to your house, and he's fixing your lawnmower. And he goes, you know what I used to do? What's that, sir? I used to be the lead singer of exile. Who's that? I want to kiss you all over. I have a wife. I'm not going to let you kiss me all over. No, no, that was the song we sang. Oh, that was the song? I never heard it. Don't want to do, baby. And it ain't all right. I want to kiss you all over. Finish the lawnmower. I got to go inside. Do you need me out here? Yeah, you want me to sign something, though? If you do, I'll sign it. I'm going to sign the receipt that you give me. No, I'll sign for you.
For what? Your kids. What? For what? An autograph from me. Bobby Schneit. Schneit, by the way. It's the best I could do. Sure. Is that it? Is there any more from Jason? That's it. New movies? What do we got? Mr. Popper's Penguins. Oh, is that that? It looks good. It's a penguin movie. It's PG as Jim Carrey and Angela Lansbury. Jim Carrey and the... Animal movies. It's cute. Is it? Everyone likes penguins. Yeah. Not everybody. Yeah, who doesn't? The kind of person doesn't like penguins. Yeah. Here we go. Listen. I'm not coming into work today. That's good. What else? The other big one is Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Here we go. Stay with me. I'm going to get you some help. I'll be okay.
Ow. They're both incredibly good looking. Anybody in the room seen, we got a studio audience in here, anybody seen that new J.J. Abrams movie? Super 8. Yeah, Super 8. Is it any good? Pretty good. It is? Pretty good. It's not stupid? No, it's not stupid at all. It's good. Pretty good. Good action. He won't say good. Mike, he keeps saying pretty good and you keep probing him and you're probing him. You know what it is? It's like when you go to the fridge, you look, nothing in there, go back five minutes later, maybe something's there now. Something's there now. I'm waiting for him to go, okay, it's great. It's actually pretty freaking good. Yeah, it's not. I like both. But it's pretty good. It's pretty good. I like your comparison. Yeah. Is that it, Sienna? Yep. All right. Anybody got anything going on this weekend? Bro-am. Bro-am? Yep. All right. Anybody appearing anywhere? Happy Father's Day. Happy Father's Day. Yay. Happy fake Father's Day to me. Oh, what? Cool. You guys have a good Father's Day. How old is the little fake baby now? Oh, gosh. Jay. You can't say it. Jay. Jay. Is that six months, I think? I have no idea. Never met him. They're so cute. Jay. Happy Father's Day. Lauren, you got anything? No. I am speaking tomorrow at a lowrider thing. Mikey. Mikey. Mikey.
Yeah, give my testimony. It is 4044 Idaho Street in San Diego. I like the pause bit. What is it? Like musical chairs? I know. What's he doing? It's Duck, Duck, Goose in there? I like it. So come and join us. Should be fun. End of the show. On Friday, I give you my testimony and tell you my story and share with you what's happened in my life. And the reason that I do is because... There may be somebody that's listening that's going through the same thing. Up until the time that God changed my life in 2003, I was a very, very different person. A person that my parents, I know, were not proud of. If you asked them, they'd probably say that they were, but they weren't. Have you ever looked at somebody and you could just see on their face? You can tell just by a look on somebody's face. Every time I would see my family, I knew they were embarrassed.
Because of my addiction. I remember one time we were at my parents' house. And my brother came over with his kids. And they were like three or four. And I picked up one of my brother's kids. And I kind of stumbled because I was drunk. I remember being so humiliated by it. Just really humiliated by it. Really. Because I looked at my dad and I could just see my dad disappointed. Just disappointed. And I remember that feeling of just, it felt terrible about me. I have been through a lot of things in my life that have made me feel very bad about me. And I don't know if you've been there. Where every time I looked in the mirror, I didn't like what I saw. Not just physically, but who I was too. Through my 20s.
I was constantly trying to find something that was going to bring me happiness. And it seemed like the more I chased it, the more I felt crap. With coke and meth, and I did it with girls and with porno. I did it with strip clubs. Are you addicted to meth? Nobody knows. Or maybe they do, but they don't talk to you about it. If that's you, I want you to know that it can be different. I want you to know that you can have hope. In 2003, laying in bed, I was looking up at the ceiling, and I was crying, and I asked Jesus Christ to enter my life. Not everybody finds him that way, but that's how I did. But if you're listening right now, and you are hopeless and desperate, go to MikeyShow.com. And at the top of the page, there's a word that says help. Click on that, and it'll take you to resources. It'll teach you everything I did.
You know, I joke around on the air a lot about myself. Really, the reason that I'm able to do that is because I work with people that I trust and I love and I'm able to do that. And, you know, somebody wrote me the other day and they were like, hey, man, does that ever get to you? And it doesn't because I know who I am now. You know, the only reason I'm able to do that is because I know who I am now. I know where my worth comes from. If you're listening. And that's not you. But you want that. You know, the other day I talked about how I want so badly to raise men with my boys. If you want that, you've been searching for it, but you can't find it. You can't find happiness. You feel desperate and alone. I'm just telling you what happened in my life. And maybe you hear it and you go, okay, I'm going to try that too. At the end of the show.
Today I decided because we had Switchfoot in here, I'm going to use a Switchfoot song. And the reason is because this song always reminds me of L.O.B. And it does because I was bawling my eyes out after I lost my job at the old station and driving around praying about how I was going to replace Ashley. At the old station. And I was listening to this song. From Switchfoot. And came home. And found LOB. It's so crazy. So crazy. But God's real. God's real. LOB's sitting here. We're sitting in a brand new studio. And life is really awesome. No matter what. Song is called. Always. From Switchfoot.
This is the star. This is your heart. This is the day. These are your
