Mikey and Woods opened by debating whether the Chargers' special-teams disaster was a fluke, while celebrating Mike Scifres' emergency kicking and the team's comeback. The tenth anniversary of 9/11 moved Mikey deeply, and the show highlighted both the Ground Zero ceremony and stories from Mike O'Reilly and Peter Negron about rebuilding and loss. San Diego's blackout produced two comic threads: Lauren sent oblivious fun facts from the road while friends sweated at home, and the hosts later turned the suspected utility worker into 'Blackout Bob' while blaming the system's fragility. Elsewhere, Mikey announced the autism-focused Mikey-thon, Lauren nearly misused bear spray, and the group argued over a cruel race prank, Woods' plan to treat insomnia with medical marijuana, Sarah's toilet-seat feud and Mikey's disruptive Jungle Cruise laughter.
What happened, in order
Scifres saves the opener
Mikey and Woods argued over whether Percy Harvin's 103-yard opening return exposed the Chargers' special-teams problems, then praised punter Mike Scifres for taking over after Nate Kaeding tore his ACL and helping secure
A decade later
Mikey said the tenth anniversary of 9/11 finally overwhelmed him emotionally as he watched the Ground Zero ceremony, the victims' names being read and tributes involving George W. Bush, Barack Obama and victims' families
Be a dog
The hosts repeatedly played Coastal Carolina coach David Bennett's strange viral speech about a trapped cat in his kitchen, which somehow became an exhortation for his football players to stop being cats and become dogs.
Fun facts in a blackout
While San Diego struggled through a massive blackout, Lauren unknowingly clogged her friends' strained phones with cheerful trivia from the road to Yosemite until she realized how serious the outage was.
Mikey-thon returns
Mikey announced a 28-hour commercial-free fundraiser for Rady Children's Hospital's Autism Discovery Institute, explaining that his son Jake is autistic and that the show had already raised $100,000.
The birthday prank debate
A viral clip of a father telling his young daughter she would turn Black at age four prompted the hosts to argue that frightening a child for laughs can create a racist association and destroy trust.
Weed for insomnia
Woods said Ambien and Tylenol PM had failed his severe insomnia and proposed medical marijuana, while Mikey worried that using it could jeopardize Woods because of his past alcohol-related trouble and the company's scrut
The toilet-seat standoff
Caller Sarah confronted coworker Mike live on air for deliberately leaving their shared office toilet seat up, and he admitted he kept doing it because the women's frustration amused him.
Bear spray surprise
Lauren discovered on the way to Yosemite that her supposed bear repellent was defensive spray like mace, narrowly avoiding her original plan to coat herself and the tent with it like insect repellent.
Jungle Cruise sabotage
Mikey described humiliating a Disneyland Jungle Cruise guide by roaring with exaggerated laughter at every scripted pun while Woods, Rebecca and Jamie struggled with embarrassment and genuine laughter.
Blackout Bob
The hosts discussed reports that one Arizona utility worker may have triggered the seven-million-person outage, blamed the fragile system as much as the worker and jokingly imagined his future as 'Blackout Bob.'
Rebuilding Ground Zero
A 9/11 documentary excerpt followed ironworker Mike O'Reilly's decision to help rebuild Ground Zero and Peter Negron's moving account of growing up without his father, who died in the World Trade Center.

Enjoy a Charger win, especially when it's the first game of the season. And this is what we need. We need the Chargers to win immediately instead of the slow start bit. And that's exactly what we got. Woodsy's got some audio coming up here in a minute of Takeo Spikes that you are going to enjoy. Our phone number is 570-194-9000. And if you want to text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. So we're not here on Friday because it was my son Jakey's birthday and we took him to Disneyland. And so we weren't here. And so we didn't get to talk about the blackout. So we got to talk about the blackout. And there's new news on the blackout. So we'll tell you all about that. What else? Oh, word of the day. Cylinder. When you hear me say cylinder between now and 10. Then all you got to do is be caller nine. We'll give you a pair of tickets to Padres game on September 18th. And that includes the Switchfoot concert. How about that? Which, by the way, you will be seeing the Mikey show banner flying over in an airplane over the Switchfoot concert. It's going to be great. Big announcement in an hour on the Mikey show. Big announcement.
So make sure you're listening. 7 o'clock, big announcement on the Mikey Show. Woodsy, did you see the whole Charger game? Yeah, I missed it because I was playing ball, but I came home and watched it. Pretty awesome. Pretty awesome is an understatement. Down big at half, you know, looked pretty typical. Pretty typical early Chargers, you know, early season Chargers. Oh, and we got to talk. Woodsy and I have a disagreement on the special teams because. And Woodsy goes, save it, save it, save it. And I say, yeah, let's save it. Should we talk about it now? Yeah, let's do it. All right, so Woodsy is convinced. He's like, great. I'm nervous. Wait a minute. You're backing up. No, I'm nervous. I'm nervous. I think you just put it in reverse and went. No, I'm concerned. I'm concerned. Still concerned. Okay, I'll give you that. My concerns have stretched from last year, which obviously we had big problems in special teams, to this year. Hence. The opening kickoff of the season. I got you. 103-yard return. I got you. Now, what Woodsy's talking about, if you didn't see the game yesterday, first kick. This game starts. Season. Here we go. Percy Harvin takes the house. 103. 103 yards. And Woodsy's going, oh, great. Nice special teams. Here we go again. Now, I say to Woodsy this morning, I'm like, it's a fluke. And Woodsy says,
A fluke is something that doesn't happen a lot. That happened a lot last year. A fluke's an anomaly. A fluke is an anomaly. A return on a kickoff or a punt by a team that's playing the Chargers isn't an anomaly. That's what I'm saying. Well, it wasn't last year. You're right. But a fluke, here's the definition of a fluke. Unlikely chance occurrence. Okay. It's very likely. A surprising piece of luck. Right. Not surprising and not lucky. Well, we got a new guy, new special teams coach. And I said, hey, in the preseason when it was first team, when it was first teams out there, we looked great. Okay. Preseason means zilch. Zilch. All right, Woods. Nothing. If your suspicions are correct throughout the rest of the season, we'll have a turd of a special team. Yeah. And, you know, it's, they have cost us already. They cost us. Already they cost us our. star kicker. He's done for the year. Nate Kading, torn ACL, done for the year. Why? Because he's trying to tackle Percy Harvin. So now, we don't have a kicker. We ain't going to get Nate Kading. They don't grow on trees. You're right. He's a special kicker. Absolutely. We'll get a kicker. I believe it was a complete anomaly, a fluke, and that we're going to see some great special teams the rest of the season. Boy, I hope so.
Because I'll tell you what, man, there's nothing like getting your team in a hole 7-0 with 15 seconds off the clock. Yeah. No, I agree. And, you know, Kading going for that tackle, tearing his ACL, has already made our special teams worse. We're already worse than we were. Yeah. We're worse. I can't argue it. I just don't think that we're going to be anything like we were last year. I think we'll be good. When that guy caught that ball. and ran that SOB back 103 yards, you could feel the air go out of Qualcomm Stadium. It was unbelievable. Who was your MVP yesterday? Did you have somebody that you thought was just above and beyond? Yes. Who was yours? My MVP, by far, is Mike Cyphers. Same as the kid. We didn't talk about it. That's right. We didn't talk about it, and I said, I bet we picked the same guy. I thought you might go with Tolbert because he had a huge day, three touchdowns. It was great. Yeah. But Mike Seifer's a punter. He's got to kick field goals because Nate Kading gets hurt. Guy drills a 40-yarder for the tie in the fourth quarter. He doesn't kick field goals. It's pretty awesome. They gave him a game ball. It was awesome. And he got three extra points. So, I mean, that's called, hey, man, it's on you today. Make it right. And he did. That's pretty tough. That's awesome. But he did great.
It was a good comeback win, and it's just what they needed. Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of 9-11, and my wife said that it got her, and it got her unexpectedly. Rebecca said, wow, I was really emotional about it. Well, I'm just going to tell you the truth. Up until the 10th anniversary, every anniversary of 9-11, didn't mean much to me. I'm just being... completely transparent with you and telling you, it didn't mean much to me. The fifth anniversary of 9-11 was like, oh, yeah, this was the day. But up until yesterday, I didn't shed a tear. I don't know about you guys. But did you see any of that stuff? It got me last night during the Cowboys-Jets game, the pregame ceremony got me. 100%. Got me good. Now, did you see any of the...
Ground Zero stuff. Just from what I saw at that game. Okay. Because what they did was they did live from Ground Zero in the morning at the same time that the attacks took place. President Obama was there. President Bush was there. The victims' families were there. And there were a lot of performers that were there. Anybody from Paul Simon to James Taylor. East Coast feeds the house, so I wake up. I'm in the kitchen at 6 o'clock, and I turn on the television, and I put it on the New York channel. It's about 4 o'clock in the morning. So it's 7 a.m. out in New York. They're all at ground zero. The president's there, and what they're doing is reading names. Talk with you again. It was uncontrollable.
Uncontrollable. Tears just start coming. Right at that time, the kid's babysitter walks in. I didn't know it. And I'm crying and trying to explain to her why I'm crying because she's from Mexico. And I'm trying to explain to her why I'm crying. But it was really a beautiful ceremony at Ground Zero where they show what they've built, how much they've done. And it was unbelievable. And it was a weird thing, too. When President Bush came out, it was so odd to go from thinking that he's such a dork to going, wow, we kind of miss you. It was such an odd feeling. President Lincoln not only understood the heartbreak of his country, he also understood the cost of sacrifice. and reached out to console those in sorrow let me explain this that applause you hear is because no one knew he was there all of a sudden he stepped up to the podium and started speaking and it took a second for people to go oh wow it's bush in the fall of 1864 he learned that a widow had lost five sons in the civil war and he wrote her this letter dear madam i have been shown in the files of the war department
A statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you're the mother of five sons who have died gloriously. It's very difficult for him to get through a speech. I can relate. It's a true statement. Poor Jay. On the other hand, President Obama, he doesn't have any problem at all. No. He does very well. Never get back the lives that were lost on that day. Listen to that. It's so eloquent. The ultimate sacrifice. Doesn't mess up a word. Today, it is worth remembering... President Flanken. Mass... Mass... Mass... Mass... Mass... Mass... Mass... Mass... Poor guy. I mean, what he's saying is good, it just... He was reading from a letter and still couldn't get through it.
It's right there in front of you. There, madame. It's right there. You're holding it in your hands. It's not that hard. It's not hard. Just read it. That's all. Hey, you're the president. You got that far. You got farther than anybody else has ever gotten. Just left to right, up to down. This is Robert De Niro during the NFL coverage. I stand before you on ground made sacred by the sacrifice of 2,753 innocent victims from over 90 countries. In the decades since 9-11, we have honored their memory with a show of strength and unity. Today, loved ones, friends, and heroes who perished are immortalized with the opening of the national September 11th memorial. Sounds very organic. Just off the cuff. Just off the cuff. It sounds like he's just saying it. Not at all as if he's reading it. In doing so, the NFL and all Americans fulfill our pledge to never forget as we continue our commitment to honor their memory. That's very beautiful, but unless he's talking about whacking someone, poor De Niro, in my opinion, sounds a bit on the reedy side. Did you know that Bill Clinton,
spoke yesterday. Did not. With almost no time to decide. Oh. It's up there. Is that right? You have something stuck in your throat. Stoned. They gave the entire country an incalculable gift. Why does he sound 90? I don't know. Maybe he was crying. Maybe. For a minute I thought he was talking in his sleep. Yeah. From attack they saved God knows how many lives. They saved the terrorists from claiming the symbolic victory of smashing the center of American government. Emotional. And they did it. He's emotional. That's it. That'll get you. It was some good stuff, man. It was some good stuff. Ground Zero looks beautiful. Gosh, it's beautiful. The kids talking about their parents. Oh, my gosh. I'm glad I missed that. Oh, dude. They were reading the names. You know, they'd read the names and they were reading the names of the people.
And then the last name they would read was someone that they were related to. And they got to say about a sentence, you know. And it was really touching. And then at the exact time that the planes would hit, they had a New York fire department person ring a bell. It was really beautiful. You probably missed the beginning of the Cowboy Jets game last night. But they had the FDNY. playing bagpipes in the end zone. I did see that. Holy cow. Beautiful. Jamie came in. She's like, I've been crying all day long. That's why I couldn't watch all that stuff. The commercials alone were getting me. The commercial with the kids singing. Did you see this one? The firefighters. I was like... They were singing the Jay-Z song. Empire State of Mind. The Empire State of Mind.
Which was really, really cool. It's really sweet. This is it. If you didn't get a chance to hear it, check this out. Got me. Oh, yeah. Me too. Oh, my gosh. You know, when it comes to 9-11 and all the tributes and stuff, it made me think to myself, I wonder why we're all able to be so sweet during that. To each other? Yeah. Yeah. During it. I mean, there's just... Almost any other occasion. It could be anything. It could be an award ceremony. Somebody can be a D. But not during this. There's something about 9-11 that kind of ties everyone together in a really cool way. I saw a guy on Facebook yesterday say he was over it. And then he said, F New York. Are you kidding? No, I go, wow, that was brazen, to say the least. Wow. Courageous. I mean, I was like, dude.
Gosh darn. Well said. Shock jock. Easy stern. I was over making myself cry. I was like I'm not going to do it. I'm not just going to sit there and cry all day because you know we're onward and we're upward and we'll never forget but I just can't all day. I mean I would have been a basket case. Well the thing for me was up until yesterday I just didn't pay attention. Really? No. It was like, to me, it seemed like exploitation from the media. It's the seventh anniversary of 9-11. Okay, I get it. A decade? That's different to me. I can't believe it's been a decade. And that part of it, there's something about 10 years that I went, I'm stopping everything. I'm paying attention this time. There's something to pay attention to. So you're not going to be in again until 15, maybe? I thought about that myself. Maybe 20. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe 20. I know next year. The 11th. It's not going to mean as much. A lot of big stuff. I saw some pictures on Facebook of the Coronado Fire Department doing some really nice things. What do you mean? They did some commemoration here locally. Sweet. Yeah. It is. Yesterday, Colby Callier sang the national anthem. Do we have that?
Yeah, it should be on there. Colby Kelly sang the national anthem for the Charger game. All of the different games had different people sing it. The audio's not that great, but it's pretty cool. And American Eagles fly through the stadium at this point. Unfurled a giant field-sized American flag. I have chills right now. I feel about the guitar. I like it. I like it, maybe just not for the opening game. You would have preferred she did acapella? Yeah. Something very haunting about that that I enjoy. Yeah. That's the creepy side of me. That's all right. Well, you're a creep. Well, it's true. Fair enough. 570-1949 is the number. The blackout happened on Thursday. And... L-O-B. L-O-B. Different kind of blackout. Right.
And I missed it. L.O.B. was on her way to Yosemite. Yosemite. Both fires that happened while I lived here, I left a day of. I miss all the good stuff. I keep you here. You leave and everything goes wild. I feel bad about this. L.O.B. is going to Yosemite. And it's 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday. And we were gone on Friday, so that's why we're talking about this. But anyway, it was 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday. And Krause was over at my place, and he was showing me how to put together some movies that we had videotaped to the kids. And we had the television on, and we had everything running. And the power goes out, and I thought, oh, we've overloaded the system. Turns out, as we now know, it was the blackout. Well, this blackout's going on, and we realize about 20 minutes after the power goes out that this is not...
A local event, but a regional event. And actually not even regional. I mean, it went beyond that. And we're talking about the paper said seven million people that were affected completely over two counties. Seven million people. Nothing like this has ever happened. It's historic. It's never happened like this in San Diego. Anyway, L.O.B.'s on our way to. And she has no idea what we're all going through. And when I say, when I say, and you know this, if you were here, when I say pandemonium, I mean freaking pandemonium. Straight up. Okay. Straight up pandemonium. Now, when we come back, I'm going to tell you exactly what LOB did. By the way, Woodsy has selected a...
Very patriotic playlist today. But when we come back, I'm going to tell you about L.O.B.'s experience with a blackout. We'll talk a little bit about the blackout. There's new news on the blackout. Love Jared at createyourdesignonline.com. That guy is, he is the designer of the giant banner you will see flying over San Diego beaches and the Switchfoot show, which should be amazing. You can find him at createyourdesignonline.com. News on the blackout. Going to play the name of that tune this break. Big announcement at 7 o'clock. So, Woodsy. Yes, sir. Takeo Spikes yesterday, correct? So when they signed Takeo Spikes, the Chargers, they picked him up. He played for the Niners last year. He's always been a great player. And people were like, oh, great. Freaking throw away. The guy's old. Well, that guy had 11 tackles yesterday and was an absolute. He was a hornet is the best way I can describe him. He was a hornet. He was all over the field.
They're talking to him after the game, and they asked him, he said, Takeo, did you hear what Adrian Peterson said, how he's going to throw up 200 yards and get a W in your house? We heard it the next day. I heard, you know, my faithful tweeter followers, they made it to my attention. I was like, nah, I just don't believe it. I just, I didn't believe it. So we came in the meeting room the next day, you know, regular defensive meeting. Coach played the clip. Didn't even tell us he was going to play it. And I was like, 200 and a W, huh? What did he have today? Coming to our house saying what you're going to do. Because at the end, you have to realize your success is predicated off the men in front of you. And I know I got some dogs in front, and they went hunting today. Woo! You damn right I am. I'm fired up. Disrespect, man. Disrespect. But, you know, we'll take this win and draw it for the day. Move on for next week. Oh, yeah! I wanted to run through a brick wall. Dude. When I heard that, I was like, come on, come on. Hey, listen, for those of you that said it was a bad pickup, he's already in the plus. Okay, the guy's already a beast. He's obviously great in the locker room. I want that guy anywhere my team is. Absolutely. What a stud. And he's good looking. I love you. You'd be all the way in. Hello, man. Hello, Bree. Great audio. Yeah, that's...
Lauren's new ringtone. You know, I'll tell you what he is. He is what the University of Coastal Carolina's head coach would call a dog. Oh, yeah. A dog. Now, why the University of Coastal Carolina? Hello. I'll tell you why. I was trying to restart my computer. It's okay. That's all right. Trying to get my printer hooked up. The University of Coastal Carolina. He's a football coach. And he's trying to describe how he wants his players to be like to KO Spikes. He wants them to be dogs. It was just the story that he told, I think, that was kind of weird to a lot of people. Trying to get our two boys ready to carry them to the golf tournament before practice, right? Twelve cats live across the road. Our door's open. Screen's broke. We need to get a new screen door. But the screen's broke. So you can come in through the screen, but you can't get back out of it.
I turn and look, there's a little kitty cat in our kitchen. So I said, what are you doing in here, little kitty cat? By that time, the cat turns, tries to get back out. That screen won't go that way. Cat starts going, meow, meow, all crazy. And I told our players, we need more dogs. Bo's barking in the back. I have to go shut Bo up. Mel's like, what's going on? I said, there's a cat in the house. Cat in the house? I said, yeah, there's a cat in the house. So I told our players, I tried to let it out the front door. Meow, meow, the cat's still going crazy in there. And I told our players, you need to be more like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here looking in the mirror. I look good. I got my extra bands on. I got my other shoes. Be a dog. We don't need no meows. We don't need no cats. We need more dogs. You get it? It's very inspiring. I'm going to take that down word for word for when I start coaching Little League again for next year. And I'm just going to do that speech. Oh, my gosh. What the hell is he talking about? He had a cat get into his house. Gosh, darn, dude. Cat got into his house. He's got dogs. Apparently, his dog is named Bo. Yes. Bo started to freak out. Well, that's what he wants his players to be. You got a lot further than I did. That's what he wants his players to be. I did like the one part where he was talking about, do we look good? Do we have our extra bands on? Do we have our shoes on? That's what the cat's like. Looking in the mirror like, meow.
Now that's true. This has gone viral. Trying to get our two boys ready to carry them to the golf tournament. 12 cats live across the road. Our door's open. Screen's broke. We need to get a new screen door. But the screen's broke. So you can come in through the screen, but you can't get back out of it. I turn and look. There's a little kitty cat in our kitchen. So I said, what are you doing in here, little kitty cat? By that time, the cat turns, tries to get back out. That scream won't go that way. The cat starts going, meow, meow. All crazy. And I told our players, we need more dogs. Bo's barking in the back. I have to go shut Bo up. Mel's like, what's going on? I said, it's a cat in the house. Cat in the house? I said, yeah, there's a cat in the house. So I told our players, I tried to let it out the front door. Meow, meow. The cat's still going crazy in there. And I told our players, you need to be more like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here. Looking in the mirror. Do I look good? I got my extra bands on. I got my other shoes. Be a dog. We don't need no meows. We don't need no cats. We need more dogs. Holy cow. Be a dog. Be a dog. Be a dog. Don't need no cats. That's incredible. That's incredible. I can hear it all day long. That's incredible audio. So here's the thing.
With the blackout, we were going to tell you L.O.B. So L.O.B. is on her way to Yosemite with her boyfriend Matt Commerce, her BFMC. And all of us are here. We're experiencing the blackout. People are getting coolers out of the garage, pouring ice in them, putting their refrigerated goods in there, trying to keep the kids cool, trying to keep your... Your stuff running. Because this is a big event. And it's the middle of the day. It's very hot. Old people, etc. Well, L.O.B. doesn't know. She's not here. She's on her way to Yosemite. And she's kind of bored. And so she's on her phone. And she's Googling. On her phone, she's Googling fun facts. I had an app. She had an app. I downloaded an app. You downloaded an app for fun facts.
As she's finding the fun facts, she is sending them to us. And the fun facts are like, you know, the average weight of the human head is, you know, 4.2 pounds and blah, blah, blah. Now, cell phone service at that point is jammed because everyone is trying to reach loved ones. What's going on? Blah, blah, blah. I'm emailing my parents. I'm like, are you getting this? And I get another email from LOB that's like, did you guys know the average person urinates 475 times over the course? And I'm like, blackout going on, LOB. And she's like, really? Crazy. Hey, did you know that the average four-year-old will lose three teeth? And I'm like, self-service down, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. She's like, no way. Hey, did you know?
Stopped. It was awesome. Incredible. I stopped. And then I got texts from two of my friends, two of my family members that live here, and I realized it was pretty widespread, pretty big deal. I was like, oh, boy. Say, oh, this sounds kind of serious. I felt bad about sending you the fact about the bacteria on headphones. The average person will get 720 bacteria from wearing headphones. I'm like, oh, my God, there's a dad. Are you okay? Mom, how's mom? Is she okay? That's why my ear hurts. Oh, my God. She's just smiling, windows down, barefoot out the window, you know, driving up the Yosemite. Air conditioner on, you know. I was just dropping knowledge. Yeah. James Taylor on the radio. James Taylor on the radio. Just, like, throwing us random facts, you know. We're like. She's like.
Can you guys play along? I'm trying to play with you guys, you know. I was like, hello. Hello. This is LLB. Driving up there. Hey, guys. I just found out. Wind blowing through her hair. BFMC's got his hand on her lap, you know. Fact about the Bible. I'm going to send it to Mikey. He'll dig this. Hey, Mike. Did you know that Esther is the only book in the Bible where God's not mentioned? I'm like, Dad! She's like, babe, turn this up. Oh my gosh, I love this song. It was the live version, though. She's like, ooh, babe, it's getting cold. Turn the air conditioner down. We're at home, we're like, fish are dying in the tank. I got really upset. I was checking up on you guys afterwards. Yeah, you're like, you guys just ever not play back, you know? I was on the Twitter feed from my phone. I was able to get more information.
on the way to Yosemite that my sister was able to get. I was texting her updates from SDG&E. It was nuts. She didn't have a smartphone, so she was just like, I don't know what's going on. We had a blast. Weird. We set out by the pool, had the radio going, knew everything that was going on. It was fun. Oh, wow. Why did I, you know, by the way, when the blackout happened, how many M1s thought about Jay? Because he's the first person I thought about. I said, Jay said, if I didn't have my disaster kid together, I was a loser. That's right. Oh, my gosh. Oh, Jay. We killed it. Such a blast. We had a blast. I think they should do that every Friday. No sweat. None. I think we should do Blackout Thursday. Because, well, I'm prepared. I had the go bag for everyone in the family. That's right. I had the go bag. I mean, what all did you have that we didn't have? I don't know. I had a battery-operated radio, so I could check in on reports. I didn't have to go out and sit in my car. Fired up the generator. You had lights. You had lights? Uh-huh. You had lights! Jerk. Jasper's like, hey, can we turn the TV on? I was like, oh, that's just a little extreme. Now you're just being... Now you're just showing off. Now you're rubbing it in. Yeah. You're showing off. But yeah, turn it on. Let's just grab your board. Let's just skate all night.
I just called the neighbors. I said, hey, anybody want some ice cream? Seriously. It's a little bit hard. You're going to have to let it sit out. It was cool. The whole street sat out on the street. Thanks for the invite for everybody. Well, I didn't want you to drive. I was worried about you. That's cool. Oh, wow. We were at home just sweating, having parents come over so they weren't in their non-insulated 40-year-old house. We sat in the backyard. For about nine hours. Drank some Tecate. Oh, my gosh. Thanks for the invite. You're welcome. You kidding, Jay? I ain't going here. I'm in paradise. I ain't going to your house. I'm sitting here in air conditioning. Did restaurants really give away ice cream? Yes. We got three containers of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. That's cool. Yeah. Dang it. Not just for me. Yeah, how long did it take you to work your way through all that? What did you do when they melted? Did you drink them? Really? God, disgusted. Woods and I came up with a new J-bit at Disneyland on Friday. Great. Sure did. It's disgusted, exasperated J. Repulsed. Repulsed J. And this is why we're at Disneyland and they sell turkey legs. So I get a turkey leg. And I'm eating the turkey leg and it's piping hot. Right? And so...
I tear off a piece of the turkey leg and I put it in my mouth. I'm like. And Woods goes, gosh, Mike. You can't even wait till it cools down. It ain't going nowhere. It ain't alive. Give it three minutes, Mike. 120 seconds. I'm disgusted. You repulsed me so bad. Mike, I'm not kidding. You make me want to barf. Hey, Kim. Listen to what he did today. That son of a bitch tried to eat a turkey leg right out of the oven. Damn near burned his mouth. I mean, he couldn't wait. I can't even have turkey on Thanksgiving anymore. He ruined it. I can't, yeah. What are we going to do? I am, I guess. Mike, what do you do on Thanksgiving? You open the oven up and just stick your head in there and start chewing? Can't you wait? Gosh, darn it. Mike, have you ever heard of self-control? God. Have you ever seen the word willpower? Gosh, Mike, it's a turkey leg. You're disgusting. I mean, you're disgusting. I laughed so hard I farted. I laughed so hard. I missed it. It was so funny. Disgusting.
I disgusted Jay at Mike. Was this while you guys were hanging out with your wives or while you were having your own alone time at Disneyland? We were hanging out. We were hanging out. Okay. For those who are new to listen to the Mikey Show, L.O.B. is extraordinarily jealous of my relationship with the Woods. So is Jay. She despises both of us. She despises Jay. Yes, that's something you need to know, too. You have a bromance. Right. A friend. Oh, it's your son's birthday. Yes. That is so Rhonda, by the way. Rhonda, you are identical, Rhonda. You guys almost forgot. It's weird. Rhonda flips out anytime. I'm not Rhonda. Aren't you? No. I don't know why you are calling me Rhonda. Because you're identical, Rhonda. You're identical, Rhonda. Identical. It's so Rhonda. Mike, isn't this such a Rhonda thing to say? It's so Rhonda. Identical is the greatest new bit as well. Had fun with that at Disneyland. Yes. Driving down the street yesterday. 78-year-old man in perfect shape running down the street. My wife goes, identical J.
I took a picture of a wolf. I took a picture of a wolf from Yosemite and put it on my wall. And somebody wrote, identical J. I saw a guy at Disneyland. He was about 700 pounds on a bench eating ice cream. I go, hey, Mike, look, identical J. That's sad. Oh, that's some people watching at that place. Oh, there sure is. There sure is. Nice and cool there for you guys? It was. It was nice. Breezy. Not bad. It wasn't bad at all. It was a freaking great day. This is... This is what it sounds like on the Matterhorn, which I don't think is a... Hey, listen. I know everybody's in the name of crazy. I think half the rides at Disneyland are the creepiest rides. And it's for kids, man. It's for kids, and they're creepy. Listen to the Matterhorn. Now, the funny thing is, it doesn't matter how many times my wife goes on there. She knows what's coming up, but she screams. She was in the front car, so she knows the turns are coming. And she knows where the scary stuff... And she screams every time. And now I do the bit. I do the fake. I do that. And what's his wife, Jamie? Her bit is every time my wife genuinely screams, Jamie cackles at her. The Matterhorn. It's already terrifying. So there's no height restrictions on this, Mikey?
I think you meant weight restrictions. Height. Oh, you mean you have to be this tall to ride. You're on it. Fake eye. The high pitch is Rebecca. The cackle is Jamie. That's Rebecca. That's Jamie. She screams like a 12-year-old girl. How does she do that? And it's real. It's real. It's real. I don't know. But it scares her, and she screams. By the way, Tower of Terror is maybe the greatest ride I've ever been on. Oh, my gosh. So scary. Have you been, LLB? It's a free fall ride. Oh, I loved it so much. It's so scary. I loved it so. It's fun. It's fun to scream as loud as you can. Oh, yeah. It is scary, though. And Woods was like, let's take Jake on it. And I said, let me see it before. I'm so glad I did. Oh, yeah. The visuals are terrifying. I know.

They're clearing that from the roadway. All lanes are open, but traffic still backed up to the 5. We had a playlist today and we're not going to waste any time. The worst drum roll I've ever heard, by the way. We need to get somebody to come in here and actually play a real drumroll for us. Ladies and gentlemen, we told you that we had a big announcement to make this morning at 7 a.m. And the announcement is that Mikey-thon is on, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah. Mikey-thon is on. And the date of Mikey-thon will be October 6th and 7th.
It's going to be awesome. Listened to you. We listened to you. Last year was our first year doing Mikey-thon here in this building. We're at this new building. One of the things that people said, see, Mikey-thon turns into sort of a festival. And people show up. They camp out. They're here. One of the things that they said was, well, you know, we'd like to see more of you guys. We'd like to have you guys come outside more. And so we will be outside more this year. We have talked to the building, done extensive stuff with the building to make sure that we can do Mikey-thon. And we're going to be out there a lot. And we're going to be talking to everybody. And there may be some of you that are wondering, what is Mikey-thon? Used to be known as the 28-hour show.
But what we do is we go on the radio for 28 straight hours. We start at 6 o'clock in the morning. And we don't get off the air until the next day at 10 a.m. No commercials. It's commercial free. And we do it for a purpose. My son Jake is high functioning autistic. And autism is something that is really near and dear to my heart. And I've been blessed with. Folks here on the Mikey Show that love my son a lot and support the Mikey-thon for that reason. And to raise money for Rady Children's Hospital's ADI. It's called the Autism Discovery Institute. And so far, the Mikey Show has raised $100,000 for Rady Children's Hospital and their Autism Discovery Institute.
One of every 110 kids is diagnosed with autism. And, you know, there's not a lot of funding that goes into it. There's more funding that goes into almost every other thing. Even though autism is much more prevalent. It isn't to say that those other maladies are not really important because they are. As a father of an autistic kid, I would like to see more funding going into trying to stop this. Because having an autistic kid is very difficult. And, you know, it takes us. We had twins after Jake. And they're typical kids. And seeing them is like having kids for the first time. A lot of people don't understand, you know, we don't take Jake to everything that we do. And a lot of times people I think are like, well, what's up, man? I mean, why don't you just bring your kid? Because it's like having three kids with one kid. It's not easy. But anyway, Mikey-thon, we have auctions and we raise money through that whole 28-hour period. And we've got some really, really cool things that we're going to be auctioning off.
From Switchfoot. From Jeff Bridges for the movie Crazy Heart gave some stuff. We're going to have Smashing Pumpkins have given something. Who else, Jay? Smashing Pumpkins. We got news yesterday that we got a new one. Surfboard over there. Surfboard that we're going to be doing. Badass surfboard. Yeah. A lot of really cool stuff. Now. Maybe a fryer's cut. Could happen. Maybe. Careful what you say, Woods. Maybe auction a fryer's cut. Ooh. I'll do it for Jake. Dude. For Jake R. Esparza. I will auction my hair for a fryer's cut. How long will you wear it? Oh, to the end of Mikey-thon. Then I'm shaving my head. But I'm auctioning it for Jake. All right. Don't start pushing me. I'm not. You're pushing. I'm not. But I'll... Hey, listen. If we had a certain number, I'll do it. L-O-B, I think, is thinking what I'm thinking. What? We, like, last year, we had to get tattoos, and we did all this temporary stuff that when it was over, it didn't really matter. We all look like fools. Right. So... So will you do your hair in a prior's cut for Jake? No. Okay, not exactly. But we'll be in an isolated situation. So zip it. No, we won't. There's going to be a million people here.
I'd be running around like a dip-ass with a fryer's cut. Never mind. No, no, no. I was about to say. That's good. I'm going to go back in my hole. No. I'm going to go back in my hole. That's cool. I was right. But I was saying. But I was saying. Never mind. Oh. It's no big deal. How about a year? I'll wear it for a year. Will that make you say this happy? A year. We should discuss before we just start throwing out willy-nilly. No, I was just trying to be nice and say, maybe I'll even do that. If we raise a nice number. Hey, you want to make $14? I'm not doing it for $14. You understand? Okay. So you're going to, it'll take, you'll be a lot. Yeah. Well, the starting bid for the fryer's cut. Yes. Yeah. It's going to be good. Now, my guess is that if you. I have beautiful hair. I do have beautiful hair. Check this out, Woods. Check this out. Imagine how much money we could raise for my son, Jake. If you wore it for a week. I'll do it for three days. I'll meet you in the middle. I'll meet you in the middle. He's a hero. You know what, dude? You almost just brought freaking tears to my eyes. You know that I love your son. I couldn't love a kid more if he was my own son.
I love that kid to death. I love you. That was really nice. You guys are really having a moment. I get to see now what happens behind the curtain usually. Just a lot of love going back and forth. Hey, for those of you that are just tuning in and have never heard the Mikey show, Rhonda doesn't like the fact that Woods and I are good friends. Rhonda, it's so Rhonda. First of all, name is not Rhonda. Second of all, you guys have more than a friendship. It's a bromance. I understand. There's a lot of confused people right now. They're like, hey, just moved here. Why is that girl Rhonda freaking out about that? This guy's doing something nice. Her name is Lauren. Why? I don't know. She don't like it. It's awkward. There's three of us in here. You guys are in a love fest. We try to include you. You tell us a feast every time. Hey, I love you, LLB. You're like, yeah, great feast. True story. I like you a lot. Thank you. You guys are nice, too. We do this thing on Mikey-thon where around 10 o'clock at night, we watch two movies, okay? So we watch one movie at 10. When it ends, we take a small break. Then we watch another movie. And you get to join us watching these movies. We tell you what they are right now. You go out and get them. And this is always a big thing. People are always like, what's a movie? What's a movie? We have two movies. And we will tell you.
Three, two, one, play. You rent the movie. You watch it along with us. And all we do is goof on the movie. It's just like the TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000. The movies this year are Cobra, which I've never seen. But I do know this about Cobra, starring Sylvester Stallone. What I do know about Cobra is that it's one of the worst movies ever made. One of the cheesiest, worst movies ever made. I'll give you a line from it. Are you ready? Please. You're the disease, and I'm the cure. Oh, wow. So, brace yourself. Meanwhile, Mike, he says that whilst a toothpick is in his mouth, that never comes out of his mouth for the whole movie. He walks around with a toothpick. And crooked sheriff glasses, right? Mirrored, crooked sheriff glasses. Great. You're the disease, and I'm the cure.
It's going to be great. Okay, and the other movie is another movie that I haven't seen but is very popular and is worthy of goofing on. And that movie is Pretty in Pink. Yeah! Now, why Pretty in Pink? Because it's the 80s. Yeah. And you can goof on the 80s real good. John Cryer's in it, so enough said. There you go. Now, I know a lot about it, even though I've never seen it. I know he's ducky. Yes, he is. He is ducky. Is Pretty in Pink the one where they say, what's happening? Hot stuff. No, it's 16 Candles. Cool. That's Long Duck Dong. Long Duck Dong. Easily confused. All right. Tell me Pretty in Pink. Molly Ringwald is a poor girl from the other side of the tracks. Got it. And she makes her own clothes. Yes. Which is very... You can't do that in high school. No. You'll get picked on. Right. James Spader is in it and is... Oscar-worthy brilliant as the rich, snotty P-word. Right. And Andrew McCarthy is also in the rich clique and kind of falls in love with Molly Ringwald. I love it. From the wrong side of the tracks bit. Ducky is her ambiguously gay friend that says he's in love with her, but... He's not ambiguously gay. Well, you kind of think he sleeps with dudes. Well, when you look at him, you go, yeah, that guy sleeps with guys. He's in love with her. But he's in love with her, but...
I can't wait. It's brilliant. It's so good. I can't wait. I can't wait. And the psychedelic furs do the soundtrack. It's brilliant. I can't. I cannot wait for this. Mikey-thon is 28 straight hours and we get goofy and wacky. Oh, yeah. And punchy and sleepy and it's fun. And we've been having meetings after meeting. Weird. Preparing for the Mikey-thon. We want to do it. So much bigger and better than we did last year. And we're going to. We're also going to be auctioning off the same thing that we did last year, which is dinner at my house. Confirmed. We got it good. Confirmed. Yes, sir. Confirmed. Dinner at my house, and it is catered by Pamplemousse. And Jeff Strauss is the owner of Pamplemousse. And a brilliant, brilliant chef.
And he comes over. The dude is incredible. He's great. The food's incredible. And he brings it to my house. And we'll auction that off. I'll wear pants this year. There you go, Woods. Actually, I'm going to wear a tuxedo this year. That was great. We did it last year. And Woods showed up. And I said it looked like the clothes that he was wearing were taken out of a donkey's mouth. Well, in fairness to me, I had been moving that day, so they were taken out of a donkey's mouth. I think what happened was he had a bag of clothes he was going to donate. Right. And he went out to his car and took the clothes out of there and was like, this will do. Yes, in the midst of moving homes. Yes, I did. Now, we said to him, hey. You've known about this forever, buddy. Maybe you take a shower. Shower would have been nice. If I had one, it would have been great. If you had one. Yeah, we didn't have any soap. We had nothing. We were moving. We were moving. But you knew your moving date was coming. I'll be in a tuxedo. I can't wait. You don't worry about it. I can't wait. Okay. Comments, questions, Mikeython, 570-1949. Call us right now. Talk to us about Mikeython.
M1 Veronica is on the line. Hy-Vee, are you there? What did I do wrong? Did I do something or is it? Maybe she had to go. She could have had to go. Mikey Show, hello. I'm probably doing something wrong. Yeah. My phone wasn't working either. Really? Yeah. Maybe it's something to do with their phone. M1 Oceanside from Oceanside, are you there? Something's wrong with the phones. Dang it. Perfect. Cool. Dang it. I need my chicken. I need my phone. 5701949. AJ, go grab JR. I know he's here. I'll do it right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we'll get it all straightened out. But, oh, man, am I excited about Mikey-thon. 28th straight hour marathon of the Mikey Show. If you love the Mikey Show, man, it's the Mikey Show on steroids. Because you just get us for 28 straight and it's fun.
It is fun. Oh, by the way, we're doing something called Food Fighters for Foo Fighters. And we're doing it on Friday. We need five people. We'll have five pies. You got to put your hands behind your back and eat your way. And on the bottom of the pies, we will have one Foo Fighter CD on one of those pies. And if you're the one that eats your way down to that Foo Fighter CD. Guess what? You will be going to see the Foo Fighters. Yeah. And it's pretty awesome. So we'll be doing that on Friday. And every day we're going to be qualifying one person for that. And so at some point this morning, be listening for your chance to qualify. And all you need to be able to do is come in on Friday. So make sure you can come in on Friday. Yep. As long as you can, you're good to go. Let's see. So we're going to play Name That Tune. We just have to get our phone situation straightened out. And we want to take your calls on Mikeethon. If you have questions about Mikeethon, you can call us. 570-1949. If you have questions about it. Every year that we do Mikeethon, there's always a lot of questions. Will you do this? Where do we do this? What will the thing be with this? And we are really trying to make this friendly for you.
Fan friendly so that you have everything you want. We want you to be happy while you're here. See us enough. And we want to raise a ton of dough for Rady Children's Hospital. We could do. That's a true statement. And I also have a viral video that I want to get your opinion on because it's all over YouTube right now. And I'm very curious. To see what you guys think about this. It's a father. And he says to now he tells his daughter that when she turns four, she will turn black. Why? Because she noticed that there's a white Barbie and a black Barbie. Take a listen to this. Why? Why don't you want to turn black? But what will happen? What's the difference? You will still be able to wear the same clothes. You'll have the same toys. You'll still play with yo-yo. You'll still live here with us. You can be our little black bike rider. So the question is, is there anything wrong with it? Or is it racist? See, for me, there's about a hundred things wrong with it. But, you know, I mean, everybody's got an opinion. There's no less than a hundred things wrong with it. For me, but I... And see, when I listen to it, I'm like, oh boy. Am I going to be like...
old curmudgeon-y guy? Am I going to sound like old, like, oh, take it easy guy? I don't want to be PC. I just think it's kind of stupid to tell a kid that. It's mean. I mean, you could tell the little girl that her hair was going to turn red or anything about her that was going to change. When you tell that kid that their entire reality and entire identity is going to change, it's going to freak them out. And it doesn't matter what the identity is. You could have said, You know, whatever. I don't think that this little girl is racist. You could have said plaid. Well, it's putting, he's essentially put a negative connotation in her head about being black. Yes. That that's bad. Yes. And prodding her for why. Yeah, why is that? That guy is Captain D-Head. Yeah. Captain. Yeah, he is. Because he keeps prodding and poking her. Yeah. And the other thing about it is, is it ever appropriate for laughs or otherwise?
to lie to your freaking kid. Is it ever appropriate? You don't? I don't have a problem with like coup d'etat on kids and like messing with them, but lying to them saying, hey, you know you're going to turn black. I think it's kind of funny if I said to a kid, if I said to my kid, hey, you know when you turn four, you turn purple. And they're like, why? And you're like, well that's just what you do. Then you'll turn back, but And then, you know, that's okay to me. It's kind of messing around. Now, we got a fundamental difference in it. Now, maybe it's the way we were raised. My dad didn't do bits like that. Mine did. Your dad did the bits. My dad thought it was Rodney Dangerfield. Now, with me, I'm like, I never, ever, ever want to tell my kids something that isn't. I don't ever want them to ever question me. Ever. I don't want them to ever cry. Is dad messing with me? Oh, man. You don't want to mess with your kids? I mess with my kids all the time. It's fun. Have a little fun, but once she starts crying like that, that's not fun. And once you start going into the race thing, it's like, that's a little different. It's bizarre. It's a whole, I mean. You know, I mean, like, dude, it would be like you doing a magic trick for your kid or like, hey, sorry, you lost your, you know, he has a $20 bill and you snatch it and put it in your pocket. He's like, where's my 20? You're like.
I don't know. I don't know. I mean, that's not lying to them, but it's just kind of messing with them. And I think having that fun dynamic is cool. And that I'm cool. I don't know why. I mean, this is my weird neurosis. To me, the quarter behind the year, the 20. I got your nose. I got your nose. But for some reason, it weirds me out to be like, when you turn four, you turn purple. It freaks me out. I don't know why. I'm like, I don't know why. I've got to examine why. I don't even know. At that age, you can't turn around and go, I'm just kidding. Because they don't even necessarily know what kidding is. I think that's it. Even when you're a teenager, I get the concept. But when you're little, you don't know. When they can understand sarcasm, then you can do bits with them. That's good. Thank you. Everybody in my family got it.
We told my sister she was a sewer baby. My mom did it. Well, we told my little brother stuff, but he didn't get the joke. He cried. Right. You told him he was a girl. Yeah, we told him he was a girl, and he used to be called Brittany. Did your parents play along? No. Oh, okay. I told Finn he was a monkey, and we shaved him down. Oh, my God. I thought he had to talk. So mean. That's genius. No wonder he wants to give you a knuckle sandwich every time he sees you. Dad. All right, let's do, when we come back, we're going to have these phones figured out. We're going to talk about Mikey-thon. We're also going to be playing a little name that tune. What's in your mouth? Let your voice be heard on the Mikey Show now. Why don't you tell him the whole story? Time to wake up, sir. Call 570-1949. Or shoot him a text at 949mikey at gmail.com. This report brought to you by your San Diego County Toyota dealers. Well, it looks like we have one signaler left. The 15 northbound before the 76, an injury accident, semi-loaded with a trailer full of horses, hit the center divider. They've closed down all the northbound lanes until further notice, and it's probably going to be a while. They have to put these horses in another trailer. Coronado Bridge westbound at the Toll Plaza was a signaler. They have canceled that. You still are backed up a mid-span on the bridge there. And in Chula Vista, the 5 northbound between E Street, National Avenue pretty slow right now. This report brought to you by Exxon Mobil. At Exxon and Mobil, their smart gasoline works at the molecular level to help you remove deposits so your car runs cleaner. One more way they make gasoline work harder for you. I'm Stacy Cohen, FM 94.9. It's time for the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report. Good morning to you. This is Bird from Bird Surf Shed with the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report for a Monday morning sponsored by Joe Roper's Righteous Surf for Repair Restoration Services. right down the road from me on Marina Boulevard. Today, we're looking at some small surf out there. West-Northwester is the dominant direction with some secondary and slowly increasing southwest swell. Very inconsistent on that direction, though, but we do expect to see more throughout the day. High tides this morning, 5 foot plus at around 10 o'clock, slowing down quite a few areas as well.
That all being said, look for the beach breaks to have some waves this morning. Semi-walled up, pick-and-choose corners here and there. Maybe a little bit better at the better sandbar-structured areas. Running in that knee-to-waist-eye zone, maybe a few chest-eye sets at the standout spots. Reef breaks are completely shut down right now. Looks like we'll have some early clearing and another nice day ahead of us. Water temp hovering in the lower 60s, so pack the proper wetsuit. For up-to-the-minute surf reports forecast, go to surfline.com. This surf report is brought to you by... Joe Roper's Righteous Surf for Repair and can only be heard three times daily right here on FM 94.9. This has been the FM 94.9 Authentic Surf Report. And now back to the Mikey Show. With Mikey. I'm very aggressive when it comes to lines. And Jay. If you want any, you'll be nice to me. Yes, ma'am. On FM 94.9. If you're just tuning in, we announced it. Mikey Thawne is on. October 16th, 7th. The movies.

So if you can rent them or buy them, do so. Cobra and Pretty in Pink. Those are the movies that we'll be doing our bits with between 10 and 2 a.m. between October 6th and October 7th. And by the way, our phones are working. So if you want to call us and talk to us about what you think about Mikey Thon, you got questions about Mikey Thon, call us now. M1 Veronica from San Diego. Are you there? I'm here. How you doing? I'm doing good. How are you guys? Good. Okay, when you mentioned it, I got goosebumps and got all excited. I know it. I know it. I'm excited, too. So I'm thinking this year I might be having a big sale. Really? Nice. Yeah. So we're there all day long. Why not send the proceeds over to, you know, for children? I love it. I love it. Freaking great idea. Very sweet of you. And a lot of people may be saying to themselves, well, that's a cool idea. What you need to know, though, is that Veronica, she bakes like nobody's business, man. Forget it. Stuff is so good. It is so good.
And so, yeah, so if she's baking, I will be first in line to buy some of that stuff myself. And it's going to be a good time. So are you going to get, hey, Veronica, do you already have Pretty in Pink? I think my parents have it. There you go. I'm not a huge fan of Cobra. I've never seen it. Well, it's Pretty in Pink. Oh, no. Oh, yes. There's nothing worse than Waterworld. Nothing is worse than Waterworld. Nothing. Don't remind me. And see, what we need is we just need stuff that we can have fun with. Oh, yeah. I love Ducky. I love Ducky to death. There you go. All right. Hey, thank you. I was just thinking for M1s, not just me baking, but everyone else brings stuff because the more stuff people bring and we're there 28 hours. I love it. You know, we'll just be able to eat and raise money all day. I love it. I love it. Thank you. No problem. Thank you. That's Veronica. She's so cool. She really does bake amazing stuff. You know, we're going to be hitting up the Chargers to try to get some stuff from the Chargers. And, you know, we just get stuff from all over the place. And, you know, to be able to auction off. So this year, going to be some really cool auction items that hopefully you can get in on. 570-1949 if you have questions about Mikey Thawne. October 6th and 7th. M1 Oceanside from Oside. Are you there? Yeah, sure. Who would you like for Name That Tune?
Rhonda. You got it. Yeah, that would be Lauren. Hang on the line. M1 Nubian Prince from Otai Mesa. Hello, Bree. What's cracking, Mikey Show? What's going on? Who do you want? I want my new man crushing wood, dude. There you go. Weird. You got him. And up next, M1 Tim from San Diego. Who do you want? Mikey. You got it. Hang on. Now, we're going to try this one more time. We've discovered that the way that we're going to do the buzzer is that we're not going to say our name. We're going to use the buzzer, and Jay's going to tell us who buzzed in at the correct time. The way that Name That Tune works is just like Name That Tune. We have a theme. What is it today, Jay? Today is rock, kind of metal. Okay, metal. Perfect. Are you singing? And I'm singing as well. You're singing. Yes, lucky. And the prize? Today's prize for Name That Tune is lunch for two at Surf Brothers Teriyaki. Got it. Okay, again, as soon as we know the answer, we buzz in. Ready to go. Here we go. Love is like a bomb, baby. Woods. It's a Def Leppard. Here we go. Cat is purring. That's just my skin. What is wrong? Mikey. Scorpions. You guys are good. Here we go. Reset, reset. Mother says that I never, never mind.
Mikey. Mother. Yeah. Dang it. My little brains. I'm insane. What? Somebody just says that I'm one. Quite right. Here we go. I found the simple life. Ain't so... Woods. That's Van Halen. I should have known that. I should have known that. I don't listen to this music. Don't you? No. We got everything you want. Honey, we know the names we got. Mikey. Guns and Roses. Just identical accent. Thank you. Mikey one, Woods three. Here we go. I'm feeling like a bad boy. It's Aerosmith. That's a second late. Here we go. And you know that you're the only one to say. Woods. Night Ranger. Oh, good.
Gosh darn it. All right. Reset. What score? Mikey won. What's five? Oh, wow, L.O.B. Everybody knows these songs. No, one in every three. This is what Jay does, and I don't know any of you. They're very popular. This is what Jay does. This is what you pick. They're very popular. Very popular. Rhonda. Welcome to the jungle. Probably the most popular. Come on, Rhonda. Please. Come on, Rhonda. It ain't a crime to be good to you. Kiss. Whoa. What's wrong? Never listen to one Kiss song. Lick it up. Oh. Here we go. You didn't listen to Kiss? That's too bad. Here we go. Out on the streets. Wraps. It's a really fun game. Here we go. We got two more left. So what's the score? I think these are going to be worth five points apiece. Of course they are. It's still Woods up. Seven to one. L-O-B, you can come back right here. Right, yeah. These are both five-pointers. Here we go. You know I never seen you look.
Well, it's poison. Dang it. I knew that. Damn! That's Dama? That's Game Nation. Dang it. Dama Nation! Gosh darn it. Entertaining. Never come to my house! M1, Nubian Prince, your man crush. Your man crush brought it home for you. Fresh lunch on the kid today. That's right, dude. You're awesome, dude, for what you want to do for Jake, bro. That's really cool, man. My pleasure, dude. Anything for that kid. If you weren't listening... Woods is going to shave for an auction item. Yeah, I think we need to hit a certain number, and then I'll do it. It's a done deal. All right, Woods, you get to pick the number. No, no, you'll pick the number. It should be a lot. Yeah, my goal is I want to do better than we did last year. And so if we can do better than we did last year, consider it done. Woods said that he will wear it for three days. I think that's worth three grand, personally. Oh, wait, are we going to auction it off? No, no, what I'm saying is let's say we raised.
$20,000 last year. If we raised $20,001, it's done. Oh, okay. I want to beat what we did last year. Got it, got it, got it, got it. I'm not asking. I love it. Yeah, I'm just saying donate. I love it. And once we beat what we did last year, the minute that that happens, the confirmation comes in that we are over that. Yeah. Done deal. I love it. Right on. You guys can all take a turn and fry me up. Love it. And that's from my boy. It. Hey, hang in the line, Nubian Prince. Cool. Got you, brother. Take care. Nubian Prince just won himself some Surf Brothers Teriyaki. Well done. And just so you know, we announced it. It's a done deal. We're going to be doing Mikey-thon October 6th and 7th. The movies are Cobra and Pretty in Pink. And I can't wait. Huge day in football yesterday. So great. Huge day in football. How great did it feel, you guys waking up and putting football on again? It was so good. It was so good, dude. It was so nice for me to steal the stream from the internet and plug it into my TV. It's my only means of watching the games. It's great. LLV, the FBI is going to come knocking on her door. I just, I don't know. She's got a high def TV now, too. Yes. With no cable. I'm actually thinking about getting cable for football season. It's that important to me. There were some upsets yesterday, man. I mean, some big upsets.
Woodsy. Yeah, let me grab. This is the one I wanted to get. Okay. You want to do our picks or what? Just give me scores. Yeah, just give me scores. Well, so we knew Thursday. Well, we didn't get to see Thursday night because the blackout, the Packers and the Saints had an absolute great kickoff. 42-34, Packers over the Saints. The Ravens came out and dominated the Pittsburgh Steelers 35-7. I mean, just made them look stupid. Ridiculous. 27-17 Cincinnati Bengals over the Cleveland Browns. How bad are you, Cleveland, when you lose to the Bengals? I bet you there's guys that bet six months' pay on that game. Absolutely. And they lost. And they lost. Here's another one that got me, too. The Bills. Throwing up 41 points on the Kansas City Chiefs. That was a shocker. 41-7 over the Chiefs. In KC. In KC. I want to play you a clip here, Mike, when I tell you the score. 34-7. The Texans beat the Colts. Listen to Kerry Collins. And when I listened to it this morning, I thought, you ever just make excuses? He's the Colts quarterback now that Peyton Manning's out. It's so hard after a loss like that to think about how he did personally. Everybody had a hand.
You know, I had a hand in it in one way or another. But, you know, as the quarterback of the team, I mean, regardless of how long I've been here, I mean, you know, I need to take care of the ball better. He's very passive-aggressive. Listen, everybody had a hand in losing this one. And, you know, it doesn't matter. I've only been here six weeks. I got to do a better job. It was hysterical. There's a couple of messages going on there. Absolutely. The Lions beat the Buccaneers. And I'll tell you what, LeGarrette Blount just earned himself a place on the kid's fantasy bench. After a 15-yard rushing day. Awful. You're a turd. 27-20 Lions win. The Eagles, the dream team. The Super Bowl champion. Looking good. The future Super Bowl champion Eagles. Everybody's saying it. The dream team. They beat the Rams 31-13. The Chicago Bears and Captain Dumbface over the Falcons and Matt Ryan 30-12. His name is Jay Cutler. Cap. Jay. Jay Kotler. Captain Dumbface. The Jaguars over the Titans 16-14 in an absolute, one of the most boring games I've ever seen. The Redskins came out and beat the Giants with Rex Grossman at the helm in 28-14. In fact, he actually looked good, Rex Grossman. He looked great. The Niners beat up on the Seahawks 33-17. I guess Tarvaris Jackson isn't the answer yet in Seattle.
Chargers, as we know, 24-17 over the Vikings. Hey, by the way, just a word on that Niner-Seattle game. You know, the new head coach is Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco. Head coach in Seattle is Mr. USC Pete Carroll. No love lost between those two guys. None. Didn't like each other when they were college coaches. And yesterday, after the game, you had to see the passive-aggressive handshake after the game. You know, because the coaches shake hands. Right. They walk across. It was the quickest non-eye contact handshake. They were turning to walk away before the handshake was even done. Just a formality. Can't stand each other. Oh, man. And then, so that was the Niner game. The Cardinals with Kevin Cobb beat the Panthers 28-21. But I'll tell you what, who looks like a freaking superstar? Cam Newton. Cam Newton played his butt off yesterday.
Listen, he's going to face a lot tougher defenses like next week when he faces Green Bay. Yeah. But, hey, for a first game, you're a rookie. Dude, he broke a record. Guy played very well. Over 400 yards passing. He was great. And then in one of the best games I'd seen in a while, Rex Ryan and his Jets beat up on the Cowboys 27-24. Cowboys had the game won. Tony Romo fumbled on the one-yard line. And the Jets went on to win that game with a 50-yard field goal from former Cowboy Nick Folk. It was a great day in the NFL. It was so much fun. I looked at my fantasy team no less than 100 times, and I got the crap kicked out of me. By the way, two games tonight, too. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Two games. They're doing the start of the season. There's always two Monday night games. Tonight is the Patriots at the Dolphins. Our friend Mike R. Esparza actually took the Dolphins to win this game. Yes, I did. Which surprised a lot of people, including the Dolphins. Even the Dolphins have taken the... They're like, hey, dude, don't be an idiot, okay? It's the Patriots. They're like, the Patriots are going to beat us. That game's on at four.
On ESPN, the line is the Patriots by 7. And then tonight, division game, all Chargers fans are going to want to see the Raiders at the Broncos. That's 7-15 on ESPN. Broncos by 3 is the line. There you go. Gosh darn it, what did I want to tell you? It just left my brain. It's a football thing that I can't remember. 570-1949 is the number. And you can also text us, 949mikey at gmail.com. Mikeython, October 6th and 7th. Just want to keep putting it out there. Should we play That's a True Statement? Oh, please. I love it. Everybody's on one today, so it should be real good. Everybody. Now, I'm going to reach into this basket and pull out something very bold that we've said. And then we're going to find out who said it. And they have to defend themselves. You can call in 5701949. Women use Halloween as an excuse to dress slutty. That's a true statement. I said that. Weird. And I believe that women do this thing. What? What? Halloween. What? It's true. I'm dressing up. Thank God. That is a true statement. What? What?
Well, yes. But the reason that I... And Jay, I'm not saying anything for... I'm not going, oh, it's wrong. Oh, it's right. I'm not saying that. I know you are. But what my point is, is that they play dumb. It's just... I'm a cheerleader. Sorry, I'm a dirty cop. Sorry, it's... Halloween. I'm a busty slut nurse. It's no big deal. I had to wear something. Yeah. That's all that's available. Right. Yeah. Like, I wanted to dress as like an Oompa Loompa. Right. But it was sold out. So I got this nurse outfit instead. I tried to get a fat suit, but they didn't have one. Yeah. So I thought I'd dress like a whore instead. And thank you. Does anyone disagree? No. I think it's great. I think it's a nice one day of a year chance to get away with it. Now, check this out. It should be weekly. Now, I will say this. I have no idea what Rhonda's going to tell me when I ask this question. I have no idea. Okay. Although, Rhonda, formerly known as LLB. No, it's not Rhonda. Now, she is conservative. Yes. In her dress. She was Miss Piggy last year. Mm-hmm. If you don't recall. I remember. I was, but I wore a sexy little number as the dress. Well, that was my question.
Red. That was my question. Yeah. L.O.B. dresses very conservative daily. I wouldn't say conservative. Well, I mean, is the opposite of conservative provocative? Yeah. You're not provocative. But I'm not on that far end of the... I'm not like... No, you're conservative. Condoleezza rice or anything. Let's put it this way. I understand. You're identical Condoleezza. You're identical Condoleezza. I'm casual comfortable. Yeah. L.O.B. Yes. This is what I mean. L.O.B. doesn't show skin. Not a lot of skin. She's wearing a burka right now. It's cold in there. True statement. It is freezing in here. But is that a true statement? You're not the type to show the midriff. No. That's not you. You're not the low hip huggers. No. You're not that girl. Not anymore. I'm 30. I mean, grow up. Now, Halloween, do you cut loose? Oh, yeah. Yeah.
You have to. That's all that's available. Yeah. I mean, come on. It's the rule. It's it. Yeah. That's what I love. That's all that's available. That's the part I love. What? I'm a dirty nun. That's all that's out there. That's all that's out there. One year, my freshman year in high school, I dressed up as a cow complete with the udders. And senior guys were pulling on them all day. And that's when I stopped doing the funny costume bit. I was like, all right, I guess it's time to turn over the slut leaf. Can you hear? Can you hear L.O.B. like, quit pulling my udders. Stop touching my udders. You guys. She just said she was going to turn over the slut leaf. I did. I already did that. Holy cow. Here's the next one. Holy cow. Oh, my gosh. It's okay to lie. That's a true statement. What? What? Sometimes. When? When the occasion calls for it, such as. Such as it's going to not hurt someone's feelings to just tell them a little white lie. What? Yeah. Absolutely. Explain. Okay. Let's see. Let's talk about a situation where someone that maybe can't hope, like how big they are, how fat they are. Yes. How big and girth. Yes. How grotesque and morbidly obese they might be. She is.
100% talking about me. There's no question. And enjoying in her mind right now, she's like, oh, he doesn't know, doesn't he? Go ahead. And they're like, oh gosh, I feel like, I just don't feel like I should be wearing this. I feel so fat today. It's okay to tell them you don't look fat. Yeah, I agree. It's okay. To tell people little white lies. That's not the only example. Not just when it comes to... Little whites are okay. Little white lies to spare people's feelings. To spare feelings. If your wife works all day cooking something and it's not the best tasting, but you eat it anyway and you're like, oh honey, that was good, thank you. It's better. Instead of... What did you make? What's wrong with you? My philosophy is if I can find something minutely positive, I'm not lying if I say it's good. If they don't look absolutely disgusting, it's okay to say it's not that bad. Well, you're lying to yourself then because now you're trying to justify in your brain. You're digging for something. Well, I'll say this. I say I ain't trying to justify. I, in fact, have justified. And the reason I have is because, hey, it doesn't taste like poo. So, therefore, it's not that bad.
Or sometimes someone will be like, did they say something bad about me? No. That's a lie. That's a lie. But it's saved. No, that's a lie. That's a lie. And it stops you from being placed in that position. What good is it going to do? I'll lie if it'll save a life. A life, Mike? Yep. I'll lie if it'll save a life. Put it this way. L.O.B. is standing there and they say, I'm looking for Lauren. Where is she? Got a gun in his hand. I don't know. I don't know where she is. The only time someone says, hey, do they talk bad about me when I'm not around? Yes. No. Mike. Yeah. Monster. Yeah, they do. What's it going to solve? Yes, they do. That's a true statement. Patriotic playlist, ladies and gentlemen. I just saw this. Are you doing a bit or are you freaking kidding me, Woods? Dead serious. I'm at my wit's end. Feast.
It's not a bit. Trust me. I know you wish it was. No, but you do that to me. You try to get under my skin. I do try to get you because I like to be provocative and a shock jock with you, but I'm not kidding. LOB, M1 Nation, when I read you Stephen R. Wood's recap when we come back, you're going to ask yourself, is he trying to kill Mike? No. Let's hope. Not everything is about you, my friend. Let's hold to a new place. The Mikey Show. I don't know the difference between odd and even. Lauren. If there's a movie with Meg Ryan in it, I'm like, I'm out. I'm out. Woods. I got one word for you, dude. Gift. And J. I stole from the Rolling Stones dressing room. I got this little coffin thing. I stole it from there. On FM 94.9. I'm Mikey. That's Woods. That's L-O-B. I call her Rhonda. I don't know why. It has no rhyme or reason to it.
Well, because she's identical Rhonda. Identical Rhonda. It hurts my feelings. Oh, boy. You're going to drive me. You want to kill me like Woods does. No. Yeah, you do. I want you to stop calling me Rhonda. Oh, gosh. Just help us, Rhonda. Help us get you out of our hearts. Get you out of our hearts. So, Woods, this is what he writes in his recap. You ready? What's up, dude? I've not been sleeping lately at all. I try to take half an Ambien, but it makes my head hurt all day the next day, and I feel sluggish. Tylenol PM isn't working either. I'm seriously debating getting a medical marijuana card. Good for you. Thanks a little bit. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. That's what I plan on doing. There you go. And? Mike? I have freaking insomnia and nothing is working. And I can't do this job without a good night's sleep. It's a true story. I'm at my wits end.
It's an ultimatum, Mike. It's an ultimatum? Do you want him on the show or not? I do. That's not an ultimatum to Mike. It has nothing to do with Mike. It has to do with me and my insomnia. And the fact that this brain of mine in my head will not and does not shut off. I have a couple ideas. Okay. You could exercise. I do exercise. I surf probably three days a week. I play baseball on the weekends. Why did LOB just look at me confused? I don't know. Because I asked her to surf probably three days a week. Why is Jay not saying a word? Because he's sick and high on cold medicine. Did you hear that? Three days a week? Yeah. All right. Yeah. I know you've been going like once a week. No, I've been going about three days a week. I didn't go last week because the waves were too big. And everyone said, don't go, you'll die. So I didn't go. But the week before that. Three days. Three days in a row. Remember that one week where I surfed three times? Oh my gosh. But regularly. When Woods does that laugh, he's irritated. First of all, nobody in this room needs to worry about my exercise. I am worried about your exercise. I'm not worried about your exercise. I'm not either. Yeah, you shouldn't be. I didn't think that's what you were going to say. I thought what you were going to say is nobody in this room should be concerned with my medical marijuana bit.
It's not a bit. When you get a medical marijuana card and you go buy pot, it's a bit. Why is that a bit? If it's prescribed, then I'm good. A bit about what? Everybody in this room takes prescribed medication. That's going to be my prescribed medication. Okay, wait. Of course he doesn't. I take roots. I pull it right out of the ground. I don't wash it or anything. I just chew on it. Woods. Yes. Okay. Exercise is one. You say, check. Okay. You go, check, Mike. I could probably do more, and I plan on it. Yeah. But even when I was exercising, okay, perfect example. The week, two weeks, I went surfing three days a week. You know what I did in bed that night? Thought about surfing. Laying in bed, my brain wouldn't turn off. Okay, yeah. I deal with the same thing. Okay. Now, here's another idea. See a physician. Okay. Done that before. He'll have to to get his medical marijuana. I will see a physician. Right. His name is Dr. Hash. He's in PB. Perfect. He's an MD. Still an MD. Is he? Isn't he? No. He's not an MD. How do you know which one I'm going to? Maybe he is. He is. All right. So I'm going to go see a medical doctor. Hang on. Why don't you go see a medical doctor and say, listen, I take Ambien. It makes my head hurt and I feel sluggish. Right. Tylenol PM doesn't work for me. Right. Maybe they say, well, you know, there are various different types.
of medications, let's try one of those. I'm about to try one of those. It's called medical marijuana. And it's going to help me sleep. There's a little slip for it. It's not man-made. It's natural. It's all natural. It's just like my God put it on the earth. That's why your God put it on the earth. Why would he put it there? M1 Captain Ron from Carlsbad. Brilliant movie, by the way. What's up, guys? Not too much, except Woods wants to get high. I want to go to sleep. He just wants to get better. I want to get low. He just wants to get some Zs. I want to get low, low, low. Can you imagine the munchies in that house? Say what? What was that, Gallagher? Peace cake! What was that, Gallagher? Go ahead, Captain Ron. I got a medical marijuana card, and the reason I do is for my anxiety.
I've gone through probably 30, almost 40 different prescription medications. None of them work. Right. After about four or five years of it, my doctor and even the psych I went to go see about it, they both said, you know what, maybe you just need to try this. And hands down, nothing has worked even close. Yeah. There you go. I'm at my wit's end. I can't turn this mother off. This brain of mine builds. Show. You know, wife, kid. Yankees. Yankees. Notre Dame. Red Sox. Cheesecake. Cheesecake. Murdering Jay. I mean, all this stuff is like, you know, wipe out. All this sticks in my head. And my brain just doesn't stop. I hear you. And I figure as long as it's prescribed and I'm not buying it from Joe from Escondido down the street, I figure I'm in good shape. You're doing nothing wrong. It's prescription. Yeah, Mike, you see, you have a brain. It's so complex, you know, it's not like yours, like a normal person. Are you being me? Yes. Oh, you're being me? Yes, yes. You see, Mike, when your brain functions at such a high level, you wouldn't understand, but your brain, it begins to function at such a high level, you simply can't turn it off. Now, someone of lesser brain capacity like, well, like yourself, Mike, you have the ability.
To go night-night. But someone like me that just has synopsis firing. Synopsis, sorry. Mike, you know, how could I put it? Like beans, when you're cooking beans. Mike, imagine you've busted a piñata and all that candy comes falling out. That's my brain, Mike. Or like a Mexican jumping bean. That's right. That's it. Constantly in my head. Boing, boing, boing. You're a worrier. I'm the same. I am a worrier. You know, in my house. I'm the one that pays all the bills, so I've got to be worried about it all the time. Shot at his wife, too. No, no. I mean, like, you get up, you go to work, you get your stuff. I pay the bills. I'm writing the checks. I'm constantly worried about it. You don't have to do that in your house. Your wife doesn't. So maybe I'm sleepless, too, and I come over and I just come see you, and we are sleepless together. A couple of sleepless nights. Me, too. I mean, I have trouble. He's proving it. He's proving it. Bit. It's not a bit.
It's not a bit. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep. And I figure the way I look at it is this. And I got to run it by, you know, I don't want to get in trouble and like fail a drug test or something. But I'm telling you, I can't sleep. And when I smoked pot in college, I could sleep like a baby. The good thing is, I mean, we don't get. Once you have an entry drug test, then that's it. But I have a prescription. We're in now. I'll have a prescription. M1 Shelly from Rancho San Diego. Good morning, you guys. Good morning. Hey, Woods, try some Cava tea. Cava tea? What, Woods? What? I've had the Cava Cava. It's great. It's bad for your liver. You know what I know works? Medical marijuana works. How do you know? Because I've smoked it before. I'm not doing it to get high. I'm doing it to smoke at 7 o'clock and go to bed. No, I'm not. I'm not getting medical heroin or speed. I'm not trying to party. I drank some Kava Kava root when I went to Fiji. You see. Weird.
Easy. It made me a little bit hallucinogenic. I'll say that. Not good for going to sleep. I can't sleep, and it's making me insane. M1 Riches from Sereno Valley. You're crazy. You are so crazy. There's other ways to get to sleep. Thank you. I'm actually yelling. Thank you. I'm thinking you're crazy. Thank you. I heard you the first seven times. Riches, I think you're right. You know what? Medical marijuana is only legal in the state of California. Great, which is where I live. Score. Hallelujah. But go through a border checkpoint and you're caught with that marijuana and now it's a federal offense. I don't go across the border. If you mean the border from Encinitas to Cardiff, then yes. And if I sound bitchy, it's because I haven't slept in a month. I mean, you got to resort to the weed. It's prescribed. It's prescribed. It's medical. And if it is prescribed, and you go through the 94 checkpoint, or if you're going out to Arizona, it's on the date checkpoint. You don't bring it that day. Listen, I need it from Sunday night to Thursday night. You're not going to see me sitting around the spa on a Saturday afternoon going... No, you're not. Just like I don't sit around the spa and pop Ambien.
Because it's fun. I need it to go to bed. Yeah, but the prop... Go ahead. Have you tried taking your socks before you sleep and writing it down on a piece of paper? I've done that before. I couldn't sleep. And somebody said, it was so stupid. I'm like, you guys are freaking stupid. They're like, your psychic ram is full. I'm like, my psychic ram is full, huh? You know, I do write my blog. Most nights I write my blog in bed right before I go to sleep. So that's kind of like doing that. Listen, it doesn't... It doesn't help me. It doesn't help me. Ask my wife. I lay there. Here's me, knowing I got to get up at 3.30. Oh, cool. 12.30. So that's three hours of sleep. Then the brain goes into overdrive. And I'm like, it's 1.30. This will be a fun day. Oh, we have a meeting today, too. Cool. So I'll get home about noon. Why do you think I nap all the time? Because I'm freaking exhausted. I don't take Ambien, but I do take a sleep medication because I go to bed at 6 p.m. Right. It works for me. But I don't feel right about doing the weed thing, man. Why? Why is it different? Why is it different than ambient? Because when I take my sleep medication, I go to sleep. That's what I'm going to do. What do you think I'm going to do? Go playing Simon and Garfunkel songs down on the beach? I'm going to bed. No, I don't think you'll go to the beach.
I think you'll play the Simon and Garfunkel songs right there at the house, but I... What's your concern? Because I see in your eyes that you have a genuine concern. My concern is the CEO of this company had to approve your employment... Right, for alcohol problems. True. True. True. Okay. Had to... The CEO... Yeah, we got it. We heard you. Of the big... Of the big company. Right. Had to sign off. He had to put his pen on a piece of paper after looking at your, what they call, rap sheet. Fair enough. From seven years ago, yes. And our general manager said, I've talked to Mikey. He says this guy is going to keep his nose clean. Okay.
His nose will be clean. We're not talking about Coke. Didn't say anything about his lungs. Didn't say anything about his lungs. It's not like he's getting a Coke. And the CEO took his pen, put it on his tongue, and then signed the sheet. Signed off on it. Now, approximately two weeks later. Alcohol. You had an issue. Alcohol. And were written up in the media. Correct. For going out. Yes. And having a little too much fun. Right. And a section that's called blurt. Right. And not getting arrested. I was written up for not getting in trouble. Did a police officer have to drive you home? Yes. Okay, now, here's the thing. Not arrested. Right. There's no record. Courtesy. Courtesy? Might as well have been a cab. Might as well have been a cab. Yes. Now, my concern is... That that guy that I just told you about is going to start smoking weed. So what? He is going to start smoking weed to go to bed. Yeah, and you know who's going to give me the weed? Who? My doctor. Dr. Hash. Not technically. Technically the dispensary. The dispensary, but I'm going to have a prescription. I'm going to have a doctor prescription. There's no leg to stand on because it's prescribed. It's just like what you take, except it's different. Yeah, it's natural. It's natural. It's green.
Smells like skunk. And baked into things, which is delicious. Oh, wow. I mean, seriously, I'm at that point where I got to get some rest, man. All right, well, we have to talk about this later because M1 Sarah from San Diego is on the line. And this is kind of funny. Are you there, Sarah? Yeah, I'm here. You are calling because you are upset and you've been on hold and I haven't got to you. But you're upset about something completely different, and it is? Oh, my gosh. I am pissed. Okay. At the place that I work, we have a co-ed bathroom. So I would assume that as a guy, I mean, I don't know what you all do in the men's bathrooms. I don't really want to. But if you're sharing a bathroom with women, and especially if it's an office building full of women, would you not take care? To put the toilet seat down. Yes, I would. No, I wouldn't. No. I would, but Woods and J say no. Women are equal with men. Yeah. So there you go. You think it would be sexist to say. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Why don't you put it up when you're done? Yeah, exactly. Why up? It belongs down. Most of the stuff gets done with it down.
Yeah, she's right. Half and half, guys. Half and half. Let's say four things happen on there. Two for girls, two for guys. Only one of the four requires a seat up. She's got you. Does she? I think so. Because I sit when I do number one sometimes. Just last use. Last use rules. When you go number two, you don't keep the seat up. Oh, no. So most of the time that that thing gets used, seat is down. Wouldn't it just be easy if we just all have a rule we keep it down? Yeah. Just keep it down. I just keep it down. Why did you just leave it in the last position it was in? Because that's rude. Why is it rude? Because you work in a place where there's mostly women like M1 Sarah. Exactly. That's right. Putting it down is the default position. Everybody knows that. I believe that. I guess you can use your foot and put it down if you want to. Unless you're a Sigma Chi and you live at a fraternity, it is the default. You go to the floor room of wherever you buy toilets from, Sears, and they're not, the seats aren't up. Of course. Sometimes they are. Ooh, I think I've seen a few up seats at Sears before. From creepy dudes probably practicing gaming.
Some guys in there trying to do jackass. Maybe we just leave the seat down and we go with it down then. That's what I do. Even if I do stand, I'll just leave it down. Go ahead, and then you wipe if you miss. Yeah, then you wipe up. Are you at work? Yes, I am at work. What's the dude's first name, not last? Mike. Oh, of course. Of course. Is he there? Yeah, he's around. He does this on purpose. Oh, yeah. He does this on purpose. He does this. He thinks it's hilarious. I'm sure. All of us have talked to him. Several ladies have asked him, hey, you know, could you be a little bit more considerate? What kind of place do you work at? Bunch of hens over there. Oh, my God. Bunch of humans. Hens. Normal humans. Cackle, cackle, cackle. Sarah, what kind of place do you work at? Oh, I don't want to disclose. All right. Can I talk to him? It's an office. Can I talk to him? Oh, God. Probably. Ask him if he'll come on the radio. Great. Okay. Just a minute. I love dude that's like, hey, what are you going to do? You love him until you have to work with him. Oh, yeah. Right. Hey, Mike. I have somebody on the phone who wants to speak to you. You want to talk to somebody?
Yeah, I got it. I love him already. I love him already. Mike, it's Mikey at FM 94.9. It's the Mikey show. You're on the radio. Really? Yes. I love him already. We were just talking to your co-worker, Sarah, who has actually been holding on. I don't know what you do. I don't know what office you work in. She went, tell me. And I don't know what you guys do, but I will say that she hasn't been productive for the last. 42 minutes because she's been holding. But she says that in an office of mostly women, you leave the seat up. Oh, my God. My guess is that she's complained to you. Yeah. And what's your thoughts on that, Mike? That it's funny. Why? Yeah, what part?
I don't know. I guess the whole thing, it seems like a funny thing to get really upset about. So I just try to do it because it's fun to watch how frustrated they get. Question, question. I understand. Why not just throw that thing down? Why not just put that bad boy down, Mike? Why can't they? It's principle. Why can't they? We just told you why. Why? The default position. But why can't you, when you go in, move it down? If you want it down, move it down. We got to go in and move it up. Because now we have to touch your pee seat. And we have to touch it when we move it down. But we're not peeing on anything. You guys are peeing on the bottom of the seat. I see the specs all the time. We are not either. That's your splash. Hey, Mike. Default. Hey, Mike. Yeah? Are you married? Engaged. Oh. Happy birthday to that girl. Does she, yeah, well, I wonder if she knows that one of your bits is leaving the seat up. I feel bad for her. Yes, she knows. And she thinks she's fun? She react the same way the chicks in the office react? Well, no, she thinks it's funny, too, but I don't do it at home. Yeah.
He's like, that would be wrong. Hey guys, I'm not a monster. I'm not a creep. I'm not a creep. The girls at work need to stop complaining and he'll stop doing it. Probably. I leave it up here all the time. Why would you do that? Because I'm rude. I don't care. Because I don't want to touch it. You had to touch it to lift it. I'll let Hillary touch it. I'll let anybody else. Why do I have to touch it? Because you're the one lifting it up. And then wash your hands, bro. I have to put it back down. You don't do it either. I do, too. He sits to pee. Well, you sit to pee. Oh, gosh. Now it's about me. I do, too. It's okay, except here. You can kick it up. You can kick it down. Exactly. You can kick it down, too. You can kick it down, too. You shouldn't have to. We're all equal. Men and women are equal. That's how I look at it, at least. Mike? Yeah? Do you have an issue with Sarah? No. Yeah, right. Let me talk to Sarah. Okay. He's brilliant. Hello? Does Mike, your co-worker, have an issue with you, or do you really think that he's doing it to just be funny? I don't know why he does most of the things he does. I know the feelings, Sarah. Yeah. Work with a bunch of guys in there. He doesn't just do it to me. He does it to everybody. I don't think it's personal, but I do think it's annoying.
And it's super funny. I think you guys should stop complaining about it and giving him attention, and he'll stop doing it. But then that means you'll, God forbid, have to put that thing down yourself, and we don't want you straining yourself. It's not poisonous. You wouldn't walk around leaving doors open and drawers open. It's not poisonous. You want it down, put it down. Put it down. Why don't you just leave all the drawers open and all the doors open? Because that would be insane. So is leaving a toilet seat up. Thank you, Sarah. M1 Art from Marietta. What were you going to say? I work in an office full of women, too, and I intentionally leave the seat up because I don't want anyone to walk in behind me and think I was handling some other business. There you go. That's a good point. The decoy. Oh, wow. The decoy. When we come back, wait till you hear what L.O.B. thought you're supposed to do with a certain camping item. When those people choose life within a system that values good care over the almighty dollar, the rest comes naturally. And when that system frees those people from the burden of running a business, frees them to pursue a passion for improving lives, then it's only natural that the most passionate people line up with you. You nurture that passion, it flowers, it grows, it attracts the best of the best. Folks that answer to that higher calling who at the end of the day can look into the mirror and say, today I made a difference. The rest, the drive to keep people healthy before they get sick, a belief that good health means tending not just to the body, but the mind and spirit as well, coordinating patients' information so they don't have to, all create a system that is so much greater than the sum of its parts. Well, we still have a signal alert. Boy, this has been with us since very, very early this morning. The 15 northbound before the 76, a semi-truck loaded with a trailer full of horses hit the center divider. They've got crews on the scene. The northbound lanes have been off and on shut while they transport these horses onto a second trailer. Southbound lanes open. Pretty slow as you pass, though. 805 northbound Claremont Mesa Boulevard. It's slippery there. Something spilled at the beginning of the Claremont Mesa Boulevard on-ramp to the 805. Crews are still on the scene mopping it up. And it looks like Chula Vista is tied up on the 54 westbound right after the 805. Two cars in the center divider. I've bathed myself in ranch. Lauren. I'm all about the discounts and reviews. And Jay. Whenever I go to a party, I'll bring beer, but I bring beer for myself. On FM 94.9. We love us. She don't love us. She don't love us. She likes Jay good enough and Chris. I do. Yeah.
And Adam. Loves Chris. Chris is her favorite. Hillary. Pretty much anybody but you and I. Jeremy. JR. Bill. Julian. The tough part is I got it. Your boyfriend is listening to this radio. I named Hillary as well. Just naming everyone that works here. Got it. The tough part is how much we try to get her to love us. It's hard. And you try, you know. But the harder you try. the more it doesn't happen. That's not true. It's 100% true. It's a vicious cycle. If you guys ignore me, then I want in. I told you, be aloof with these broads. It works every time. Well, listen to L.O.B.'s recap. Now, this is part of the reason that I love her. It's mortifying. Her and her boyfriend went camping this weekend in Yosemite, and she says, absolutely breathtaking. We didn't do any of the... Hikes we wanted to because of the rain and thunder that rolled in. Since there had been 18 deaths there this year, some specifically from people slipping on the trail that we were about to go on, we decided to go another time. Here's where it gets good. I read a lot about the aggressive bears in Yosemite. Yeah, sign me up for that. So I picked up some bear repellent.
Some of the forums online were talking about it. Do I ever read stuff online? If you're driving right now, I want you to take your seatbelt and tighten it for what I'm about to read. L.O.B. says, turns out it's not really repellent in the sense that you have insect repellent. It's more like mace. I thought you were supposed to spray your tent and yourself with it. L.O.B., thank the good Lord. that you read that can. Oh my God. As I was like on the way reading about my random fun facts, I was like, hey babe, look, I got bear repellent and I'm reading the back and I was like, oh. She was like off bug spray. Hey, I'm glad they hate this stuff. No bears on me. Hey, hey, babe, babe, babe. I'm going to close my eyes. Get my face. Get my face. Go, go, go, go.
Oh, my gosh. There ain't no bears on me. Right now. Like the bears are going to be like, oh, shit. You know, I thought maybe there's something that just is so putrid to them that they won't even come very. Yeah, yet. Specifically on their body. But yet that you would put on your own body if it was putrid. They have their sense of smell is like a thousand times better than bloodhounds. Right. Like they have really. So I thought it would be like. We couldn't smell it, but it'd be really sensitive to them. To a bear. Right. A bear would be three miles away and be like, what the hell stinks so bad? It smells like death. Woo! Yes. Thankfully, I read. Can I just tell you also that I do so much research for everything that I do, and my boyfriend, Matt Converse, and I got in a fight in the middle of Yosemite about him not doing enough research. Yes. I love it. He was like, oh, to be a fly on the wall. He's a, Matt, and I know Matt, he's a winger. He's a fly by the seat of his pants. Big time. Matt's the kind of guy that you could go out with on a Saturday night and you could end up in Canada. Somewhere. You don't know. If somebody said, hey, I got a private jet. Let's go. You guys want to go to Rio? He's there. LOP is like, I have no idea what's happening in Rio right now. Let me Google first to see what's, like, I don't know if it's safe in Rio.
Yes, we were on the way there and we called about the passes for Half Dome, the big rock that you climb up there. And we knew that the permits, you have to get them months in advance, but they also release 50 the day before at 7 a.m. Now here I thought it was the day of at 7 a.m. And he said, I told you that. And I said, you didn't tell me that. So we missed it and then we called it like. Having a health fight. Yeah. We called it like 740 the day before and all of them had already been released. And the guy said, yeah, they sell out within like a minute, you know, at 701. And I said, if you would have researched that, you would have known that we didn't. Men love that. Yeah, men love it. They love that. You're an ant. You're an ant, Mike. He was like, I just suck. I mean, everything I do. I'm just the worst. By the way, every couple has a dynamic. Okay. Rebecca and I have a dynamic. Woods and Jamie, Kim and Jay. Everybody's got their dynamic. You have got your dynamic with your wife or your girlfriend. A big player in LOB and her boyfriend Matt Commerce's life is. You didn't do this and his bit with her is.
I guess I suck at everything. I just kill myself. I guess I suck. I guess I ruin everything. Of course. I was like, no, babe, you don't suck. Babe, no, no, you're the best. And see, it works. It does. It works. I would say 96% of the time there is a trace of humor to every single fight that we have. And we just start playing the blame game about like, well, you didn't do this. Well, you. And then we just start getting like really personal but funny. We were walking, L.O.B., we talked about you. We were walking into Disneyland. And I said to Rebecca, because you and my wife are so similar. I said to Rebecca, do you know that L.O.B. made an itinerary? A checklist. A checklist. Yes. I said, do you know that L.O.B. made a checklist to go to Yosemite? And she goes, uh-huh. Like, well, she was saying, uh-huh. Not like I knew that, but like. Okay, go ahead. Go on. And she was genuine. It wasn't one of those fake like, uh-huh, continue, like I'm being sarcastic. It was like she really did wonder what was coming next. And I go, that's the thing. She made a checklist. And she goes, well, you wouldn't make a checklist? And I'm like.
Well, you know who you're married to. Damn well I'm not making a checklist. Jay would make a checklist. How would you get everything there that you wanted to take? I used my head. Yeah. Okay, I see how that works out for you. It works great. I've never been stranded. You've never been camping. Right, I don't go camping. I get hotels. I'll bet this. I'll bet if BFMC, who is not a checklist guy, had planned it, I bet they could have been fine. Oh, they would have been fine. They'd have been fine. We brought some of the things that he said were taken care of, and when we got there, I realized his idea of what we were going to bring and what I wanted and what he thought was good to bring were two different things. He's like, shooting the lingerie? He was like, you know, I put trash bags on there, and there was like four CVS bags that hold cards in them. Oh, that's not really. Trash bag. Wait, wait, wait. Can you imagine her figuring the moment that she realized that it wasn't trash bags and that it was, in fact, CVS bags? Did you make the checklist and give it to him to go out and get all the stuff? Well, he was home. I was at work. Right. And so there was a few things that we needed to get together. Now, he did get most of the stuff and did more than I did to get the stuff ready. What did it sound like?
The moment that you found the CVS, what did it sound like? Yeah, give her a bag. Give her a bag. The face. The face. The confusion. Are these what you brought? Are these the only bags that you brought? This is him. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. I'm dead. I'm dead. I'm dead. Babe, I said I wanted bags for trash. We can fit like one can in here. I guess I'm just stupid. I'll just commit seppuku on myself. Oh, no. I mean, it's fine. We'll tape them all together. We'll make one big bag. Which also makes him feel bad. Which is like, yes. Which is like, oh, well, we'll just make the best of it. Well, I'm just saying, I mean, we're in bear country. Isn't that one place you don't want to screw around and not have your stuff, you know, trash bagged? I would have been like, you know what? Just let's go home. It's not worth my time. I pulled a baby bit. You're killing me. You're killing me. I, baby. I'm sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Big baby. Big baby. Yes, we work well together. I wouldn't be able to take those liberties with most people. How does he get out of getting, when you get mad at him like that? How does he get out of it? We just joke. Everything's jokes. Everything's aligned with a trace of humor. And if not, then that means someone means business. And usually someone is me.
I got a great one yesterday. Jamie and I got in a little tiff before my game about a bill that needed to be paid. And she had told me, I'll handle it. And I said, all right. Famous last words. Famous last words. She said, I'll handle it. So I walk by, and I'm getting dressed. I got my gear on. It's game day. Walk by, and I see this bill in this pile of other stuff. And I go, face scratch. That's his thing, by the way, face scratch. Hey, hon. This is that bill we need to pay for shooters medical stuff. And we can't let it go over the 12 months because then it's 90% interest. You're doggy. She goes, I know. Yeah. She goes, I'm going to handle it. And I go, when? When were you going to handle it? Oh, boy. And she goes, when I get around to it. And I go, all right. And I left. So she's sitting outside in the sun stewing at me. So I back my car up. Like I'm leaving. I don't say a word to her. We don't even say goodbye. Nothing. I back up the driveway. Then I drive back and I look out the window. And she looks at me and like smirks. Then I back up again. Then I drive up again. And I look out the window again. Just dead blank face. Back up again. Pull up again. She starts dying laughing. She runs up to the car. We give each other a kiss. Love you. She says, don't be a D. I said, I won't. Love you. Bye. This is a great move. Now, as soon as he started telling the story, though, this was the thought that came to my head. What is the definition of insanity?
Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. He knows that her bit is that she's a procrastinator. She puts stuff off. And he will go, hey, will you do this? You know what the answer is. I do it too. We all do it, by the way. She would have done it. She would have done it. But it's not done when I want. I like that feeling of knowing. It's all good. We are paid in full. I love being paid in full. Well, that's why, and this is what Matt and I came, this is what I conceded the other day. I was like, you know what? I'm like, I like to plan. That doesn't mean I need to push that onto you and make you a planner. That's a great point. So when we do stuff like this, let's just say that I do that. There's plenty of stuff that you do much better than me, and I'll just do this stuff. If you like the bills taken care of, you're just going to have to do them yourself. Yeah, and we have that dynamic. It'll just drive you crazy. Rebecca wants me to take care of a lot of things that I just, you know. Yeah, she just now probably knows. That you fake can't do. That you fake can't do. I really can't. Take the easy way out. I just can't do it. Give me an example. Give me an example. I'm not good at that. Yeah, I can't do it. The fake can't do is great. I'm telling you, it ain't me. Well. I do it.
Guys do that. It drives me nuts because there are two bills that she pays every month, religiously. And every month, here's me. Did she pay the insurance? I'm not going to ask her because if I ask her, I'm a jerk. She'll get mad. Did she pay it? Did she pay it? Did she pay it? I need to just pay everything. I would just take over it because it'll save the grief. Was it wrong that when we were at Disneyland, and when I say we, I mean myself, my wife, my Grammy, okay? Rebecca's mom, Woods, his wife, Jamie, my son, Jake. And we also had a woman that was with us that was a really sweet lady named Janice. And we get Janice because Jake, because of Jake, because he's autistic. Janice is very popular at the park. Very. Like a tour guide there? Like a tour guide. She's big up in there, though. She's been there a while. And everybody knows her. And not only does everybody know her, everybody loves her.
When they see her, you can tell. We went on a ride called the Jungle Cruise. Love it. Me too. If you've never been on the Jungle Cruise, have you ever been on the Jungle Cruise? I don't think so. Hasn't changed in a hundred years. Yeah, it's just a maze of water. You're on a boat. Dead zebra. Yeah. Lion's talking. Ah, yes, yes, yes. But the Disney World version, yes. Yeah. Very lush. Greenery. Greenery. It's beautiful. Yeah, it looks like you're in another world. Bamboo. Yeah, bamboo growing. It's like you're in another world. Well, the other part of the ride is bits. The guy that drives the boat does bits. It's a fake steering wheel that just keeps spinning. Yeah, and he'll save, you know, little things. Awful. It'll, like, I can't remember any of them, but they're little one-liners, zingers. Like hokey type stuff? Yeah, hokey zingers. Like, there's that zebra getting eaten. I bet he's earned his stripes. Something like that. Yeah. And you're like, oh, wow.
It's for the kids. Yeah. Jake left it, I'm sure. Jake didn't get it. He didn't care. I don't think any of the kids get it. The boat's silent. The guy tells a joke and it's silent. They're authentic. There's actually crickets there. Is this wrong? Woods told the same joke. There's a zebra up there getting eaten by those lions. I bet he's earned his stripes. You did not. He did. You are a monster. Am I a monster? You're a monster. That's a genuine... This poor guy is out there doing his bits. Excuse, excuse. And you're making fun of him. Excuse, excuse. In my opinion, it would be wrong to do this. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Ha, ha, ha. That's wrong. Same thing. Aren't you, in fact, lying by laughing? Oh, that's a laughing lie. There he goes. And boom goes the dynamite.
And boom goes the dynamite. Jay's uncomfortable. She just killed me. I hadn't thought of it. I was lying. I'm a liar. Mikey, stop. Lauren is shaking her head yesterday. I'm a liar. Why do you lie, liar? I'm in the front. I am right next to Gallagher who's doing bits. I am right next to him. Gallagher being Mikey or the guy? No, Gallagher being the guy. The greasy face creeper. The job he's paid. To do. That was doing. He is paid. Write better jokes then, pal. Okay. He's probably been given a script. It's not a script. He's probably been able to elaborate off of it minutely, but it is a script and he is doing his job. He is a paid actor. I'm telling you, this guy was the worst. So Mike starts with that. My back is to Mike. I can't look at Mike. My face is buried on the side of the boat. Buried. Then the guy gets uncomfortable and he's like, he literally at one point turned out and he's like.
Okay, sir. Okay. That's not true. That is true. That is not true. Somebody's... That's what he said. Somebody's having fun. L.O.B., L.O.B., if he had said... Do the laugh again. All right, stop it. Then I would... Or if he had gone, okay, that's enough, I would have stopped. Do the laugh again. Do the laugh again. Wait. Hang on. Somebody's having fun. Hang on. Oh, sarcastic. He did say... He goes, oh, somebody's enjoying my joke. Yeah. Do it again. Do the laugh again. You've got to do a joke. There's that zebra. He's really earning his stripes. So here's me. I'm buried. I sold it, though. I sold it. He did. But you made everyone else around you do the uncomfortable laugh. Rebecca was mortified. Wow. This poor guy just tried to do his job. That loud. That loud. Rebecca was furious. Jamie was pinching me. There were some people that were laughing because the laughter was contagious. And they thought that fat bald guy really is digging these jokes right now. I lost my mind. No, they did. They did. They bought it. I couldn't. I had tears.
streaming down my face. And I would start it. I would like build up to it because he would start to say the line and my brain is like, are you about to... I can't believe how much of a liar you are. Stop it, L.O.B. You're such a liar. Hands are on fire. It was brilliant, my friend. Straight brilliance. It was wrong, huh? No, it wasn't. He was absolutely right in every way. But lying is not wrong. How dare you? How dare you? Mikey Morning quarterback is next. Call us right now. You're going to pick either J or L.O.B. Who do you think will win in NFL trivia? With Dr. Sandy T Feldman at Clearview Eye and Laser Medical Center. That's right. How has your life changed? Well, I went camping this weekend. I went to Yosemite and I can't tell you how amazing it was to not have to go out in the dark with a flashlight, try to wash my hands off with bottled water just so I could take my contacts in and put them back in. I could see I woke. I went to bed.
I could see. I woke up and see. It's still a gift every single day. It really is. I went surfing three days last week, Jay, and had a blast. Monday through Thursday, we do the 9 o'clock hour with a live studio audience. And you can be a part of it by going to MikeyShow.com. The theme today is a patriotic playlist. A couple of things we got to tell you about. First of all, in terms of the blackout, you probably already heard this, but investigators are trying to figure out whether or not it was one dude. Poor guy. Utility worker that was in charge of the blackout. Or if it wasn't this one person, was it just a massive breakdown in the system or was it both? Okay. They're trying to figure that out. They're doing an investigation on it right now.
According to SDG&E, it was an Arizona utility worker that went to fix a piece of faulty equipment at a substation and he triggered the meltdown. Woods. Seven million people, two counties. It shouldn't be that easy that one person could trip it up. I know. Absolutely. So I blame them just as much as I blame him. You have a long code you have to put in or something. Well, and my wife and I were talking about it. We were going, you know, everybody pays a power bill. I got to think they got a little bit of money and you're prepared, you know, for these things when they happen. It's kind of a monopoly. It's not like you're competing with any other utility company. Now, if it's true that it was one person, you write them up. You don't fire them. You can't. I said that too. You can't fire him. No. Because he can't get another job. I'm a guy. Hey, I'm a guy. Hey. It's one time. You got to go to Missouri. You can't put that on your resume. No. Remember that blackout? That was me. Blackout Bob. That's me. Hey, Bob. Listen. Gosh darn it. I hate to do it, but I got to write you up. I got to write you up. You're not firing me.
Oh, no, you're not fired. Yeah, I'll sign whatever you got. It's going in your file, though. That's fine. I got to do that. That's fine. I hate to do it. My quote-unquote file. Have at it. 5701949. Woodsy, what's going on in sports? I'm going to tell you about a couple of key injuries for the Chargers. But first, I want to tell you that sports is brought to us by U31 in North Park. That's where I will be watching football this season. Told you earlier in the show, Nate Kading is going to be out for the year with a torn ACL, which is not great. Also, it has come down that defensive lineman Luis Castillo is probably going to be out for the year as well. He had a broken fibula. And that's a big loss on the defensive line. He's a really, really good player. Also, they have released the new top-selling jerseys in the NFL. Number one is Aaron Rodgers from the Packers. Number two? Clay Matthews from the Packers. And number three, Troy Polamalu. Your boy, Tim Tebow, Mike, has slipped to number eight in the rankings. Demoted. Demoted. Now, why is he my boy? Because he likes Jesus. Yeah. Oh. Well, I mean, a lot of players probably do. But he really likes Jesus. Okay. And you really like Jesus. Well, yeah, but I don't know. Is he my boy?
Well, he plays for a division rival. He went to Florida, which you have no ties. So I was trying to figure it out. What is it? And what could it be? Yeah. All right. It's Jesus. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time once again. Oh, boy. Nervous. Mikey Morning, quarterback. You got to pick between L.O.B. and J. Who will know more about the NFL, L.O.B. or J? M1 Sticky Fingers from San Diego. Who do you want? L.O.B. You got it. Good pick. You know that. That is a good choice. And M1 Hot for Teacher from La Jolla. You got Jay hanging the line, okay? All right. Let's do it. Let's do this. All right. I got the score. Now, I do not remember who started last time. I think L.O.B. started last time. All right. So, Jay, you get the first question. And we're hooking him up with a prize. A pair of tickets to see Bush with Filter and Chevelle. There you go.
Good show. My heart is racing. Why? Jay, what was Ocho Cinco formerly known as? The Great Ocho. The Great Ocho. Good guess. But it was not the Great Ocho. He was actually known as Chad Johnson before he was Ocho Cinco. But he had his name legally changed to Ocho Cinco. So his name is Chad... Ochocinco. Any idea why he's called Ochocinco, Jay? Because he's Hispanic. Excellent guess. Thank you. He's African-American. African-American. I'd just like to change their name. Yeah. All right. So now we go to LOB. Yes. LOB, what team's owner is a female named Georgia Fontieri?
That's a good question, Mike. Thank you, Lauren. I'm glad you asked. I'm glad you asked. And I'm going to go and say the Carolina Panthers. That is incorrect. That's a good guess, though. Southern name. It is. It's actually the Rams. Georgia Fontieri moved the Rams from L.A. to St. Louis. That was my second guess. All right, we're tied. We are tied. Zero. Jay. Yes. Name any... player in the world that went to USC. Any player. Any player in the world. Any NFL player ever. Okay, here we go. Peyton Manning. Dang it. That's his go-to. He just goes to Peyton Manning. He went to Tennessee. How about OJ freaking Simpson? OJ. OJ freaking Simpson. Junior Seau. Reggie Bush.
Sanchez. Mark Sanchez. Oh, my God. The list goes on and on. We've got Bush. L-O-B. Yes. What team originally drafted Charger Phillip Rivers? Oh, wow. That is a good question, Mike. I'm glad you asked. I am glad that you asked. And I would have to say. Oh, she's looking in my eyes trying to read my mind. The Buffalo Bills. That is incorrect. He was originally drafted. By the Giants. Ah, yes. The Chargers wanted Eli Manning. Oh, shoot. And Eli said, Oh, my God. That's right. I'm not. Literally identical Eli Manning. I should have used my old noggin. Jay. Yes. We're tied, by the way. Killing this game this week. Jay. Yes. I'm ready. What Heisman Trophy winning Raider was famous for his, quote, bow nose ads?
On television. Bo. Full name, please. Bo. You just asked a simple question. I just gave you a simple answer, okay? Woods, you be the tiebreaker. Do I have to answer it? No, no, no. Will we accept that? I got the Bo part right. He said Joe Montana for a Joe Montana answer, and we don't take that. Jay gets half a point. No, I know. He gets half a point. But would that work a half a point? Yeah, because what if she gets nothing? Then he wins. So Jay has .5. Oh, yeah, in your face, L.O.B. Jay, the answer was Bo Jackson. Bo Jackson. I was thinking Bo Diddley, but. L.O.B., Bo Diddley. Well, if he said Bo Diddley, he should have gotten half a point. I didn't say Bo Diddley, though. I've kept my mouth shut. He got .5. Just throw out first. I'll try first names next time. L.O.B., what Charger head case is widely considered to be the biggest bust in NFL history? No, that's for L.O.B. No, I know it.
Oh, you know this one. LaDainian Tomlinson. How is he a bust? I don't know. Well, a bust means they were not good. Yes, I know what that means. Can you give her a position? Quarterback. QB. Well, Drew Brees was good. Right. He was good. It's a process of elimination. Before Drew Brees, I know nothing about the Chargers because I was in Philly. It was Ryan Leaf. Ryan Leaf was a big baby. Yes. Head case, considered to be maybe the biggest bust in NFL history. Agreed. Nothing. I'm really wanting LLB to get one because if Jay wins by that half a point, when these microphones are turned off, she is going to lay in to me and, well, both, yes, mostly you. I was the judge. Just when was Woods the judge? I thought you were the judge, Mike. Whoa. I want it out of it. You're good. Rhonda. Rhonda. Rhonda. I want it out of it. You're nip. You're nip. You're nip, Mike. You're nip.
Jay? Yes, Mikey. How many yards are there in a football field? 100. Are we not counting the end zones? Jay has 1.5 points. Feel the burn, LB. That was a tough question, Mike. It could have been your question as well. Yeah. Like Ryan Leaf. LB. No idea who Ryan Leaf is. What is the name of the Green Bay Packers' famous stadium? Lambeau Field. Bam! All right, she's back. But the problem is, that's eight questions. And I win. No, no, no, I have more. I mean, more. How is there more? I just won. Well, I don't know. Did he win? I won. I won by .5. He screws me every week. I've never won. It's time to screw him. Oh, but that was, we said eight questions. That's official. I thought it was seven, and I did too many. All right, I'm going to give you one. It always has to be even. It has to be even. All right, so that means it is your turn, Jay. Are you ready?
Yes, I am. All right. Question is, name the current starting running back for the San Diego Chargers. He is looking at me right now like I just asked him to multiply pi times a quarter. One more time. Are you looking at anything? No, I'm looking at you. Okay. So, no. Name the current starting running back for the San Diego Chargers. I don't know. Ryan Matthews. Also a member of our Be Different campaign. That is correct. Also, Ryan would have been accepted there. She's got us. She's right, man. She is right. She's right. I'm taking that. You got to. You have to. It's tied. It's tied. It's tied. You have to. She's right. We wouldn't have accepted Ryan. She's right. We would not have accepted Ryan. Heck no. No. Ella B., are you ready? Yep. For the win.
This could be the win. She's right. Typical woman. L.O.B. Prostitute. L.O.B., what network currently airs Monday Night Football? ESPN. Ma'am! Game! Rigged all the way. Well, Jay, she still would have beaten you. Yes. Because that would have been two to one and a half. A half a point. M1. Sticky fingers. L.O.B. has brought it home. Again. Barely. Again. Congratulations to you. She's never lost. She's never lost. She's never lost. Jay is about to blow his head off. Jay, maybe you will turn on ESPN one Sunday. I'm not trying to be the best at sports, Mikey. Identical woods. Yeah. I'm just trying to be the best at ridding the refrigerator. I thought. What's ridding the refrigerator? Okay. Of the questions, my favorite was, name any human being. Any human. Just a prop.
person alive or dead or dead ever that ever yes that played for the University of Southern California I don't care it could be from 1902 anyone nothing Peyton Manning this is go to go to LLB is correct Peyton Manning the Steelers and the Patriots one day it's gonna work it is one of these days it's gonna work It has to. Yesterday, the tributes to 9-11 were incredible, man. Incredible. What they did at Ground Zero was absolutely so touching. It was so, so touching. I think you can still catch the Steven Spielberg produced Discovery Channel documentary called Rising. Probably one of the most touching experiences.
you can watch. Watching the different people that are rebuilding Ground Zero and building what they call the Freedom Tower. One of the guys is an iron worker named Mike O'Reilly. I'd always wanted to be an iron worker, even as a kid. I mean, it was in me. It was in my blood, no doubt about it. It was in my family. My father was the biggest obstacle in my way of coming into this business. He wouldn't allow it. And that was mainly because he got hurt. Mike's dad was an iron worker on the original Trade Center site in the mid-80s. He fell on the job and was paralyzed. On September 11, 2001, Mike watched with the world as the Twin Towers fell and New York's skyline changed forever. It changed something. It made you realize how fast things can be taken away. That day, Mike made a decision that would change his life. He quit his job as a bartender.
to follow in his father's footsteps and become an iron worker. He would help rebuild Ground Zero. The original Twin Towers were a little over 1,700 feet tall. The new Twin Towers, the new towers that are going up the Freedom Tower, is going to stand at 1,776 feet. That's so great, man. Symbolically, it's going to be that tall. And I'll tell you, man, I love America's resolve to rebuild and to say, hey, listen, you can do whatever you want. But the bottom line is, is that that's the American spirit, the American spirit. And I'm not going to name any names of other countries that don't have that spirit. We know who they are. We've protected them. But this country doesn't give up. My name is Peter Negron. My father worked on the 88th floor of the World Trade Center.
I was 13 when I stood here in 2003 and read a poem about how much I wanted to break down and cry. Since then, I've stopped crying, but I haven't stopped missing my dad. He was awesome. My brother Austin had just turned two when he passed. I've tried to teach him all the things my father taught me. How to catch a baseball, how to ride a bike, and to work hard in school. My dad always said how important it was. Since 9-11, my mother, brother, and I moved to Florida. I got a job and enrolled into college. I wish my dad had been there to teach me how to drive, ask the girl out on a date, and see me graduate from high school, and a hundred other things I can't even get to name. He worked in an environmental department. He cared about the Earth and our future. I know he wanted to make a difference. I admire him for that, and I would have liked to talk to him about such things. I've decided to become a forensic scientist. I hope that I can make my father proud,
of the young men that my brother and I have become. I miss you so much, Deb. Follow you for the rest of your life. What a wonderful day it is for him. What a wonderful day it is for all of us. Woods. I have two speeds. I have stop and go. Lauren. So everybody knows how I feel about bottled water. I hate it. And Jay. They said there's breath beating out there. I was like, I'm in. Check, check. One, two, three, check. On FM 94.9. Make some noise. Bye. Jay is fond of making cool items for me. He gave me a whistle bell. Fringer. Fringer. A flute. It's a flute slash ringer. Fringer. Yeah. Is it around? It's a cylinder, yeah. It's with like a bell, a bicycle bell on it. I'm surprised you haven't used it yet today. There you go. What else do you need? What it is...
It originates from India. Right. When people are charming snakes and riding their bike through town. Same time. Same time. Highly utilized. It's really good. It's really good. Works on, you know, for that. Big player over in New Delhi. That's true. We announced it this morning. Mikey-thon's on October 6th and 7th. And it's going to be big this year, man. I'm telling you. The two movies that we're doing are Cobra starring. Sylvester Stallone. And Pretty in Pink. I haven't seen either movie. It's going to be a lot of fun. And we'll mess around with those movies. We've got a lot of surprises planned for you. It's going to be big. People are invited down to the radio station. We've got a whole area this year. It's not going to be like last year where it's cold. We've tried to make it so that we're not going all the way until December when it was cold and it was kind of raining. So the weather should be nice.
We're also not going to be up on the top of the parking garage. We'll be down lower so people can just pull up, roll up. It'll be awesome. So we're really looking forward to Mikey-thon this year. Hopefully we will break last year's record. And if we do, Woods will be shaving that Friars cut. That's all we need to beat last year. You got it. You wanted it. You got it. That's right. Feast on it. M1 Daniel from Oceanside, what was the word of the day? Cylinder. Cheer up, Daniel. Yep. You just got a pair of tickets to the Padres game that the Switchfoot concert's going to be at. You guys rock on, man. You guys keep on the good work, man. You guys are chill, man. Do you have your medical marijuana card? Woods is getting one. I was debating it. You can use it for your depression and everything else, man. Your anxiety. It works. You sound super excited. Is this what you're afraid of? It's a morning show, you guys. I know who this is. You do? Yes. Okay. Are you afraid that I'm going to come in and be like... Daniel, why have you changed your name? What do you mean? No, it isn't. This is Caesar. I'll show you my medical license ID. This is Caesar. If your name is Daniel, then that means Caesar was a made-up name. But Caesar, this is the deal with Caesar.
Caesar will do this thing where he will say things that are like a car crashing into a tree. That was always Caesar's bit. And it's still Caesar's bit. And I love Caesar. I'll always love you, Caesar. You know that, right? I don't know what you're talking about. That's right. I know you, dude. You can't fool me, bro. I remember you from the old station. Remember you would call and derail everything. No. Yeah, you did, bro. No, I don't even like the old show, man. No, dude, I don't either. No, I don't even listen to the old show. Hang on a second. I'm charming a snake and riding my bike. Hang on. See? It's handy. Hang on the line, Daniel Caesar.
We've definitely got to find more ways to work that in. A hundred percent. Yeah. Yes, we do. I mean, the guy worked his butt off building this thing for us. Seriously. Of course. It doesn't happen every day. Let's see. Has anybody, I want to hear, because I was watching the eHarmony commercial the other day and our friends are on it. Kimber and David, they met on eHarmony. They're on the TV commercial because they're good looking folks. He is something. I want to know he is something. What does that mean? Sharp guy. I know. It was strange to pick him. Well, she's very beautiful. But that guy, that guy's got something. He does it for you? He's got nothing on my boyfriend at Commerce. Well, very few have something on boyfriend at Commerce. That's a body that you really appreciate. That guy's body just doesn't quit. Watch that guy do chin-ups, okay? Then tell me differently, all right?
I should probably propose to him. Yeah, you should. You probably should. Get him off the market. Oh, gosh. What would happen if you proposed to me? I should. You could say something like, look, my eggs aren't going to last forever. That's true. I tried that out this weekend. Did that work? He agreed with me. Is it bad? Is this bad, L-O-B? And if I'm not a good friend for even saying it, then you can tell me, and I'm sure you will, that every time you leave town, in my head, I'm like, this is it. This is the weekend. This is the weekend. And my answer to you is yes. Well, you didn't have to be so direct. Yeah, I wouldn't. Next time I go to town. What's your question? Did you just ask a question? Yes. What was the question? Is that bad of me? No. I have a different question. Okay. Does she ever think that? No. No. No. Because he does. He's like, Woods will say. I said it at Disneyland. He'll go. He goes. He's asking. This weekend. This weekend he's asking. I believe that if and when it will ever happen, which let's not all get excited, I will see it from a mile away. I've tried everything. Ella B., you've never tried everything. There's always something left that you can try. I'm never going to have to shave or wax again. How long has the wait been? Oh, boy. He's real quick on the uptake in there.
Longer than it's ever been. Longer than it's ever been. True. Are you scared? Why do you want it so bad? I have a burning in my loins right now. Lauren. Oh, babe. Easy. Right when? I have a burning in my loins right now. Right now. Right now. Please watch closely as I use my lips. Anywho. Why does Jay clip the end of it? You couldn't help it. I've been burning in my loins right now. There's another word. Somebody stomped on it. It's so stupid. Agreed. It's longer than it's ever. Look at my hair. Call me if you have a bad online dating story or a good online dating story. I wasn't doing online dating, but I met my wife.
Online. You were doing online slaying. Yes, I was at one time. Well, not online slaying. No, I was. But not when I met Rebecca. Online trolling. No, you were right the first time. But not with Rebecca. In fact, that's why she liked me. I never said anything sideways. Creepy. You were in chat rooms or one-on-one? Wow, that's specific. I was on AOL dating connection or whatever. And they didn't have pictures on there, right? Jesus Christ. They didn't have pictures on there. What are you getting at? Just saying. It's my subtlety. Hello, and welcome to Jay's School of Subtle Jokes. Why spend time being clever? Just say it. I used to rack my brain trying to come up with ideas to really be clever at my boss. Then one day, I went to Jay's School of Insults, paid him $7,000, walked into my boss's office and said, Hey, pal, F off. Now, granted...
I got fired. It was worth it. Thanks, Jay. Why did the chicken cross the road? Why, Jay? Jews. Wow. Just get to it. Is that an anti-Semitic joke? No. Just get to it. Mike? No. Hey, Woods. Yes. Knock, knock. Who's there? Mike's a spic. Oh, my gosh. Jay, you can't just hold up and say that. Jay doesn't say that. It's actually the only insulting jokes he doesn't do. Right. It's the only insulting joke. He doesn't go racial. He'll never go racial. His only bit with us is fat. And disgusting. Lazy. Lazy. Disgusting. Well, the shoe fits. Darn.
Being unreliable, being in a bromance. Being a nap. That's it. Your wife not being able to stand to look at you. Having to put a bag overhead just to make love to you. Feeling sorry for your wife. Just being fat and disgusting. And Mike, you're a crap dad. Speaking of, the Winehouse's dad has something to say about what... Did her in? We have that clip. Also, we do want to take your calls. Not on AOL, but after meeting someone from AOL. From 1996 to 1998, I was thin. There was a two-year window where I was in shape.
So I said, yes, I do. And he came over and he showed me how to do this profile thing. And I remember that my bit was, if everybody's going one way, I'm going to go the other way. So I knew most people were going, nice. So I went the exact opposite route and was just trying to be funny. And, you know, yeah. So there you go. Different lifestyle then. Different lifestyle. Cocaine. We all have a past. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Hi, Hill. Hi, guys. How are you? I'm great. How are you guys? Very good. And I love the fact that it looks freaking beautiful outside right now.
