Mikey, Skye, Eddie, Sean, Boston Rob and Ashley mixed personal comedy with sharp arguments, from Skye's water-damaged-looking palms and restaurant seating etiquette to the Rob-Ashley feud and an audition for Joe Bricato's duet partner. Caller Brenda's claim that race and class separated the words "refugee" and "evacuee" produced a long dictionary-driven dispute, while Manhunt 2 prompted Mikey to defend free expression but warn that violent media changes its audience. The show became most concrete around the San Diego wildfires: AMG Demolition offered help, Battalion Chief Jimmy Fierro described the heat and exhaustion of the front line, and Miles McPherson explained how the Rock Church sheltered evacuees and mobilized volunteers. In the closing calls, Mikey shifted from jokes to compassion by inviting a listener struggling with drugs to contact him privately.
What happened, in order
Skye's Frog Hands
Skye soaked her hands to demonstrate the strange white, bubbly skin that appears on her palms in water, prompting the crew to demand a second medical opinion.
Same-Side Sitters
Mikey defended sitting beside his wife at restaurants while Eddie and Sean argued that couples should sit across from each other to talk normally.
Rob and Ashley Explode
A minor jab about Ashley's freezer reignited her feud with Boston Rob, and the crew's attempts to mediate quickly turned into jokes about sweating and height.
The Copperfield Voicemail
After hearing David Copperfield invite a woman to a party, Mikey argued that the message sounded like an ordinary wealthy bachelor pursuing a date unless viewed through the rape investigation surrounding him.
Fire Victims Find Help
AMG Demolition owner Mike explained how insurance usually funds cleanup and volunteered to pay the disputed water-trailer bill for Ramona residents who fought the wildfire themselves.
Search for a Duet Partner
Mikey invited a talented female listener to audition for a live duet with singer Joe Bricato, while the crew mercilessly excluded Ashley from consideration.
Refugees or Evacuees
Caller Brenda argued that race and class explained why Katrina victims were called refugees while San Diego fire victims were called evacuees, but Mikey and other callers disputed her interpretation with dictionary defin
The Silent Hybrid Menace
The crew mocked Skye's mother's campaign to make quiet electric cars audible until consultant Randy said research supported the danger, which only inspired more jokes about cowbells and silent killers.
Manhunt 2 Debate
Mikey defended the right to sell the violent game Manhunt 2 while arguing that repeated interactive violence can desensitize children and subtly affect adults too.
Inside the Firestorm
Battalion Chief Jimmy Fierro described firefighters enduring 500- to 600-degree heat, flying roof tiles, filthy air and roughly 48 hours without real sleep during the San Diego wildfires.
The Rock Becomes a Shelter
Pastor Miles McPherson told how the Rock Church improvised an evacuation and distribution center, mobilized more than 2,000 volunteers and housed hundreds of evacuees.
A Private Offer of Help
When a caller asked how to overcome a drug problem, Mikey gave him a direct email address and offered to continue the painful conversation privately.

It is 6-0-4. Gwen Stefani announced yesterday that she will donate all of her proceeds from her show tonight at Cox Arena to help fire victims. Is Brett Favre just not, he's just magical, isn't he? I mean, again, last night, Monday Night Football in overtime threw an 82-yard touchdown to beat Denver in 19-13. I'm glad I had scored a lot of points in fantasy football because I was going up against that guy, Greg Jennings. But it didn't matter. I've only lost one game in both my leagues. Welcome to the program. Let's do some introductions here. We got a big announcement that we're going to be telling you around 7 o'clock this morning about some fire relief efforts that are going to be underway involving the Mikey Show. So that's coming just after 7. So get ready. 570-1053 is the phone number. P1s you can call in at the beginning and end of every show. Open phones. A P1 is a Mikey Show listener. Exclusively a Mikey Show listener.
So you listen just to us. When you call into the show for any reason, you turn your radio down, get to the point, and don't cuss. But more importantly, you listen to the Mikey Show for long periods of time. Why? Because unlike any other show in San Diego, we'll stay on longer. Once a year, we stay on for 28 straight hours. But we do little mini versions of that every day by staying on after 10 o'clock, which is the point where we're contractually... obligated to go to but we go ah let's keep going until we're done with our material for the day and so that's why we remind you to please listen to the mikey show for long periods of time so that we don't feel that we're doing it for nothing thank you testimony goodbye let me uh introduce everybody my name is mikey i'm the host of the program i am 37 years old i do not consider myself frugal i have a philosophy of you can't take it with you And, you know, use it while you have it. However, I do have this behavior which I feel is along the frugal lines. I have hand soap at my sink in my bathroom that I use. My wife has her little sink basin. I have my little sink basin. And I have hand soap. That hand soap will last a very, very long time because when it gets to the very low point, I fill it with water.
And I shake it up. So it's liquid hand soap? Well, it's liquid hand soap, yeah. And so when it gets low, I fill it with water and I shake it. And now it's diluted, but it still works wonderfully and creates a rather nice lather. So you get every last drop. I get every last drop out of that thing. It's one of the only things that I do in conservation mode to string things out. My father did a lot more, but I don't do them. It's not an issue for me. But that's one. Eddie is 34 years old. He's our producer, our sports guy. Tell us something about you, Eddie. I am a chronic drooler when I sleep. And it never really bothered me very much until kind of last night when I thought about how much actual spit is on my pillow every night. And I sleep on it. That kind of grossed me out. I wonder how our germaphobe Sean feels about it. You can borrow my pillow anytime. I can't control it. I wish I could. Hey, I'm sure my wife doesn't mind me sharing that she does it as well. Really? Oh, yeah. Listen, I love it. I love everything about her. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen. We're sharing about ourselves. I feel better now that I know that Rebecca does it too. That's right.
Oh, well, color me embarrassed. Next time. Next time. Next time. Remember that. Skye's our news girl. She's 30. She often wears something we call grandma sweaters. Yeah. She's wearing one today. And then she sometimes also, while wearing the grandma sweater, wonders why she can't relate with 16-year-olds. Oh. It's an odd phenomenon. Skye, tell me something about you. I don't want Sean to hear my fact. Oh, no. I don't mind turning my headphones off. Okay, please do for a minute. Go ahead. I'm not listening. They're off. Okay. So I have this thing and it's been going on probably for like eight years now. When I submerge my hands in water, the palm of my hand gets like disgusting. Like something is like wrong. Like it gets all bubbly and gross and it feels like
extra saturated but just right here in like the the middle of my palm on both sides and like i mean i could just have my hands like if i get when i get out of the shower my hands look disgusting it looks like i have like frog hands there's little white like wait wait wait you mean that when you when you put your hands in water yeah like when you're doing dishes i'm doing dishes i'm taking a shower taking a bath that your hands get kind of gummy and and like what Like, it looks like you can almost see it under the skin. Like, because this one was really, you want me to show you? This one was really bad yesterday. Turn the lights up. Put a little light on this. Okay, see how the palm of my hand, the skin's kind of peeling. And then underneath, you can see kind of all these little white junkies. Yeah. When it gets saturated with water, all of that comes to the surface. And it, like, looks like I have, like, frog skin on my hand. Because it's... Tiny, tiny little. The only place on your body where that happens? Yeah, just on the palms. And you don't want to ask a doctor about it? I've asked my dermatologist. I've asked my regular doctor. Oh, it doesn't itch. Oh, it doesn't hurt. Ah, don't worry about it. But I should be able to put my hands in water. How long does it take to get this effect? See, it's weird. It depends. Like, it can be, like, a minute or two. Okay. During the commercial break, if you go put water, you know, run water on the sink on your hands, will we be able to see it? Yeah, probably. Okay, because I've got to see what you're talking about. Okay. Oh, my gosh.
So we'll do this during commercial break. It'd be a great reason. Are you going to go do it now? Oh. You want me to? Yeah, I want to see it. Why don't you do it while we do the introductions? Okay. And then I want to see if we could see this. Because there was like a little... At first I thought, well, she's talking about something that happens to all of us when we put our hands on water. Like pruney hands. Yeah, pruney hands, but that's not what it is. Really? No, when I looked at the palm of her hand... Like bubbles up? Like that's weird. Yeah, I don't think it'll affect you that much, Sean. Sean... put his headphones back on. I don't think this one's going to affect you that much because it's like a dermatologist. Well, maybe it will. I can see that grossing it out. Sean is 37. He's our sound effects guy. He lives in the Bay Area, works in San Francisco, and every day to do sound effects for us, he connects via satellite and we look at him on a little video monitor. Sean, tell me something about you. People really confuse me. I find I'm confused by people's actions a lot, and it really frustrates me because I don't understand where they're coming from. We were eating at a restaurant over the weekend, and a couple comes in, just two people. They sit at a table, a table just like ours. It's like a four-seater, and they both sit on the same side. And I just don't understand that. Round table, square table? Square table.
My wife wanted to do that when we went out to dinner two Fridays ago. My wife wanted square table. She wanted us to sit on the same side. Me and you have had several debates about same side sitters. They're called same side sitters. Yeah. Sean, I am in complete agreement with you. Like people that sit in the same side of a booth make me absolutely crazy. And Mike is cool with it. He does it. Wow. We've debated about this for years. I don't understand it. Now, I'll say this. I do it. I don't prefer it. Rebecca does. I do it for her because I like her. She's my girlfriend. My wife, she's my girlfriend still. And so ever since we were boyfriend and girlfriend, she liked to sit on the same side. Now, we're married, and I still know she still enjoys this. But sometimes I just, I'm not going to do it. We were at a nice restaurant, and I just thought, boy, that's. Real nerdy. No. No, honey. Not tonight. She doesn't fight me. She knows that it's only every once in a while that I say no. But Sean, apparently... Why does she like it? She just makes you feel closer. Oh, please. See, for me, my argument is it's easier for me to have the conversation with you, looking at you, as opposed to having to turn my body to talk to you.
I love to hear my wife's thoughts on that. We've never really gotten into it. I just know that she likes to sit that way. Maybe it's a woman thing. Ashley, are you a same-side sitter? Absolutely. Absolutely. So when you're in a relationship with a fella, you would rather sit next to him than across from him? I would prefer it. I'm definitely not going to insist. Don't you want your own space? Well, I'm left-handed, so you can make it so that I can sit on the opposite side and we're not bumping elbows. But what about what Eddie says about having to have a conversation where you have to physically turn your body to talk? Yeah, I mean, I'm like a very intimate person and a very affectionate person, so I like being that close with my lover. You know she's going to wrap her arm around their arm anyway. Oh, I'll put my legs on your legs. How do you enjoy your meal like that? I'm enjoying my love of my life. Uh-oh. Let's see. Sky's back. Sky's back. The longer I'm in the water, the worse it gets. Ew, Skye, that's creepy. I want to see it. I want to see it. Oh, go show Eddie. Show Randy, too. He's our consultant. Maybe he can figure out a way to make it go away. Look at how creepy the skin is. It's like a kid that fell down and stopped himself with his hands and washed all the gravel out. You know what? It almost looks like she's had skin grafts. Let me see. I wonder what that is.
But it doesn't hurt, so your doc's probably right. No reason to fix it. Yeah, but it's weird. It is weird. It's odd, and it seems like at certain times it gets worse. Like sometimes it'll just be the palm of my hand, but like last night when I got out of the shower, it was like all the way coming on like the side of my hand. Yeah, that's not normal. They should give you something for that. You know what? Next time you go into the dermatologist, say to him, no, no, no, no. Let me show you. Yeah, and he's told me that he's had other patients who have that. I say it's time for a second opinion. There's no reason that your skin should look like frog's skin. Just on the palm of my hands, not on the fingertips, not anywhere. That's pretty gnarly. Ashley is our assistant producer. Fun facts. That's right. She is a blonde girl. Today she's got on a black baseball cap and a gray tank top. Not a baseball cap. It's more like a cool hip-hop hat. More gangsta. I'd like you to describe it a little more gangsta. I apologize. Ashley is wearing today something that would be more appropriately seen in a hip-hop dance video. Yeah, that's more accurate. By a young hip woman. Thank you. And for those of you that were feeling like you could relate to her because you're wearing a baseball cap right now, too. It's not a baseball cap. I'm sorry to disappoint you. It wouldn't be. Sorry to burst your bubble. You guys are not.
You don't share anything. We're stating the facts. However, if you're driving right now and let's say you're a fly girl, right now you're saying to yourself, oh, I can relate. Ashley's 24. Tell me something about you, Ash. Would you prefer a fun bathroom fact or a fun food fact? In all honesty, Prefer moving on to Boston Raw, but if I have to choose between one of those two. Why don't I just leave it up to you and you pick, Ashley. Well, I have this thing where when I go anywhere and there's a sample, I always have to try it. Like, I always have to try the sample. And if I try the sample, then I feel guilty if I do not buy the product. So no matter what, whether or not I like the sample or not, I always purchase the product. I feel like a bee if I don't. Well, yeah, you seem like you were a person just out for a free sample. I feel guilty. Which we all are. Right. Oh, I totally am. Dude, Rob eats his Saturday meal at Costco. Right. So that's nice to go. So you're talking Costco. Costco or Trader Joe's. Okay.
Every time. But you realize, Ash, at Costco, they probably got five samples going at once. So you try all five? Well, I will, like, I'll easily try at least three. And I'll purchase whatever those ones are. If it's a juice, I'll get the juice. You know? Like, if it's meat, I'll buy the meat. And then it always, I never end up eating it. Because I have, like, these weird things I eat. And I'll never end up eating the sample thing I bought. So what do you do with it? You throw it away? Half of it's still in my freezer. Oh, gross. You know? That is pretty gross. Rob calling me in my freezer gross. Totally. I got nothing in my freezer zone. Boston Rob's 24, and he is our phone screener. He and Ashley have an interesting dynamic. Love, hate, more hate. It's a great way to describe it. Minus the love. Yeah, used to be more love. Now more hate. I don't want to fight today, though. I don't. I don't have a good day. They used to be like best friends, him and her. They don't say gross. I was just, because I could only imagine what kind of sample products are sitting in your freezer right now. I don't know what there is. Trader Joe's got some funky stuff. Why is that so bad, Ashley? Can't he comment? Because that's all that ever comes out of his mouth now. That's all that ever comes out of his mouth. His little jabs at me. Ew, gross. Do we have your guys song? Shut up. You know what? Hey, hey. Let's not start the morning like this. Dark blue in the middle. Ashley, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you with that. Let's move on from that and let's have some fun today. All right.
It's a song sung by Boston, Rob, and Ashley to each other about this topic. Having a work with a dumbbell. Wanna crack a joke but I can't tell. Is she on her meds or is she a psychohead? Never seen a human so sweaty. Keeps up like this, we better than us. Oh, here comes the best part. Amen, brother. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Closer. Say that. I'm a big... Don't care about what? About any of it. This is how today's gonna be. Great. Uh-oh. Great. I tried apologizing before. I don't know what else to do. I really don't.
Hey, listen. She's already upset because I said gross. I'm a big supporter of Ashley. I am too. But in this particular instance, I feel for you. In the Rob-Ashley fights, I feel for you. I feel you try more often than not to take the high road. And she gets upset with you. I just said I don't care. She has a very short fuse when it comes to you. Like, there's no fuse. It's just explode. And we know that when Ashley says she doesn't care, what she means is, I really, this really bothers me. No, it's, there's nothing, I don't, it's not a big deal. Alright, then let's just move on, because this is just going to get worse. Please don't cry. Later on, I'll play the song later again. Just don't cry. I'm not going to cry. That would be ridiculous. She's already crying out her armpit, so. Oh! There it is. What? There it is. That's one over the bow. I really feel for Rob. You know, Ashley's coming down so hard on him. Uh-oh. Why is she attacking you? Listen, here's my fact. Here's my fact. Let's move on. Point proven. I could have made a short joke right there. I didn't say crap. Go ahead. Get it out of your system then. I'm a bigger person. Well, that's true, but his height... Everybody is. Alright, now we're even.
Is everybody happy? Go ahead, Rob. You're 24. You screen phone calls. Yeah. And recently I've been getting emails where people sign them with cheers and then their name. And I don't like that. I feel like that person is trying to be cooler than me. And unless you're British or Australian, don't sign your email cheers. Because people in America don't do that. That is not an American thing. Do you have a way you sign your emails? Just, I put B. I don't do anything. Oh, B. Oh, you're so cool. That's not irritating at all. Just B. Or Rob. B. Rob is fun. We gave you the name Boston Rob. Wouldn't you sign it R? I usually just sign it B when I'm writing you guys back. Like any of my friends, I sign it Rob. There you go. Oh, okay. Cheers. Don't do... You're not British and you're not Australian. You don't know that? That makes no sense. I do know that. There is a seventh member of the Mikey show. His name is Seth. That's so dumb. Don't start doing that. We don't introduce him all that often, but he's 22 years old. Jeff, tell me something about you. I strongly dislike commercials that are weird just for the sake of being weird. Like, example, the Starburst commercial with the two, like, walrus-looking things where they're eating the Starburst. First of all, you're only watching Nickelodeon, which is the first part of the problem. Well, maybe, yeah, but...
Because I've never seen that commercial. I watch adult television. I watch everything and I've never seen it. He's like, I hate those Tonka commercials where I don't see those. You know when the Legos go? Just weird commercials that are weird for the sake of being weird just so you can talk about them and half the time I don't even know what the product is and I strongly dislike them. Thank you. What about that Heineken commercial with the robot chick with the cake? Yeah, I don't like it. I don't like that either. That's a weird commercial. I also wish that we could send a memo out to all advertisers that if you're selling a product that is meant for teenagers, it's okay to stop doing camera angles that are crooked and going right into their face. I'm over it, personally. Didn't that go out with Dan Cortese and the Mountain Dew Burger King commercials? Thank you. Wow. Congratulations. And you want to know something else? The new Geico commercials are not funny. The Caveman was funny. The new Geico commercials are not funny. The lizard? The ones that I'm seeing are... The new Geico commercials I'm seeing are the ones where they're doing a...
investigative report on the Flintstones. Oh, I like those. Or an investigative report on the Beverly Hillbillies. I think those are really creative. They didn't get me laughing. Those cavemen, like out loud. Cavemen, out loud laughing. These, I recognize that they're clever, but I'm used to Geico. I'm used to laughing. Then get rid of the lizard. Please. 570-1053 is the phone number. Beginning and end of every show, you can call us. P1 Froghands is on the line. Great. Good morning. What's going on, Froghands? I just had some information for Skype that I'd like to share. Please. Yeah, I have the same problem. P1 Froghands. Uh-huh. My dermatologist says that it's caused by high nitrate levels found in ham, especially honey baked ham. Oh, hook, line, and zika.
And a little bait, a little bait, and take it. Gotcha. Gotcha, Skye. Not funny. This could be a serious medical condition. You don't know. You don't know, sir. Too much food coloring. Have you asked your mom about this? My mom, I mentioned it before, but she's a lot more concerned about other things going on with my body. Electric cars not having sound. No, she's always checking my moles, and she's always checking me for vertiligo. Oh, my God. Come on, man. The more we learn about that mom. You're 30. I mean, blacked out. The more things make sense. She has a swimming pool, so anytime I go over there in my bathing suit, I'll be laying out and I'll wake up to find her on my back. Was this one always the size? How about this shape? Was it always that color? Oh, my God. That's nuts. That's so nuts.
P1NATO is on the line. Hey, good morning, Mike. Good morning. Got a question that I haven't heard discussed anywhere. If you are one of the few teams that will be in the market for A-Rod, are you looking for a shortstop or a third baseman or just someone who can hit you 40 home runs? The Oracle. He's exclusively a third baseman now. And, yeah, he's going to play third base wherever he goes. Okay. I was thinking the same. I'm sure that the Padres will be looking to replace Kevin Kuzminov. How can you replace Kevin Kuzminov? He's so awesome. Why would you want to replace Kuzi with A-Rod? No, thank you. Kuzi hit like 45 home runs this year. No, no, like 20-something. Is that right? Yeah, but I mean... We brought him here. It's like his rookie year. Next year he'll blow up? Like 60 next year, probably. Probably. There's always next year. And I'm sure A-Rod really wants to play at Petco Park, too. You know, home run hitters. Yes, it is. The hitters love to come to Petco. It's like, oh, man. It's like, yeah, bring it on. They start to salivate. He can average like, you know, 10 home runs a year. Like Brian Giles. What up? Oh, man. It just depresses me every time we talk about the Padres. What do you mean? Like Brian Giles used to hit 30 home runs for the Pirates and now hits 10 with the Padres? Stuff like that? You mean like that?
Yes. Oh, okay. That's what I meant. Okay. P1 Rubber Duck. Mikey. What's up? Hey, man. It's almost Christmas. You know, it's right around the corner. I've been waiting almost a complete whole year. Last year, you used to play this song. Oh, Holy Night. Oh, Holy. It was Oh, Holy Night. I'm the retarded guy. He's not retarded. He's not. He's not retarded. He's not retarded. Oh, are you going to play it this year? Yes, but. I have a tradition that I began last year. Okay. The tradition states that I cannot play it until the day after Thanksgiving. I can't play it until after Thanksgiving. That makes sense. As long as you're going to play it, man, because that's the freaking funniest thing I've ever heard in my life. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I do not want you to... Listen, thank you for the call. First of all, having a son, especially having a son that had experienced some delays in development,
I am so gun-shy of using the word retarded. God forbid my son had been born with any kind of, you know, disability in that way. You know, I even told everybody on the show, I said, hey guys, we can't use the word retarded. Being a father now changed me. It changed me in so many ways. We just, we can't say that. If there's anybody listening that has a child that's retarded, I'll feel terrible. It would make them feel bad. Nobody wants to have their kid made fun of. But that guy, he's not retarded. He is... Well, first of all, I believe he believes he's a good singer. There's no doubt about it. He believes that he's a good singer. Ashley, do you have it? Go ahead and bring it up. I'm not going to play it. I'm just going to give you a second. It's clear immediately that this person is... He believes he's a good singer. My opinion, I believe he's a bit pitchy. Really? In spots. I believe that in spots, he's a bit pitchy. Well, maybe in spots. But... in no way is he suffering from any disability. And some people actually really enjoy the way he sings. I'll say that, too. Well, that guy that just called. Oh, yeah. That is correct. That is correct. P1 Care Bear. Hi, Mikey. I wanted to thank you for playing Tunnel every Friday. I've introduced it to some of my friends who are going through a bad time, and it's really helped them out. I got a lot of emails saying that that song's changed.
their life. Oh, not me. No, not me personally, because I mean, nothing really bad happens to me, but like a few of my friends, one of them came down with cancer. Someone's father just died. And, you know, I just put the song on for them and they, I mean, they really liked it. And I just wanted to thank you. Thank you. The song is from Third Day and it's called Tunnel. It's a really good song and it's about hope. And if you know anybody that's going through anything, especially now. It's a great song to give to people as a gift. The album is called Anywhere You Are, or Wherever You Are, and it's by third day. You can get it on iTunes, and the song's called Tunnel. It's really good. So this is the fella. I mean, I just hear a second of it, and I remember how gorgeous it is. Puts me in the Christmas spirit immediately. Ready for the holidays. So I can't wait until we're able to... Play that the day after Thanksgiving. It's almost as good as Amazing Grace. How do you decide? How do you decide between the Holy Night and the Amazing Grace? You can't.
It still just says, oh, amazing grace. So if somebody could turn the card for... Today on the show... I saw Dr. Phil out in the lobby as I was coming into work today. Oh, did you? He was dressed as a genie, and as I was walking in, he said, Seem, Seem, Salabim. What did you do? I said, thank you. Okay. But he's here in the building. Okay. So... I don't know what that could mean. Only good things, I hope. Let's hope. He said the same thing to Skye and she maced him. I thought that was really good. Also on the show today, we are going to give a very rare opportunity to a female in our audience who is a good singer. A pretty cool opportunity. So if you are a female listening and you're a good singer or you're someone listening that knows a female that is a good singer.
Get ready for this. Just after 7 o'clock, we'll give you details. Oh, hey. Get it. Oh, my God. Also, we are going to be also on the show today. We're going to be telling you all about our fire relief efforts just after 7 o'clock, and they're big. And, of course, your phone calls at 570-1053. Don't forget, Thursday we find out the DNA results. Is Boston Rob a father? Get up there and get it. Steven Wright is in the stand-up spotlight. 1966, I'm in Little League, I'm on first. Steel third. I went straight across. I learned that the shortest distance between two points was with straight lines. I argued with the umpire that second base was out of my way. Do you think when they asked George Washington for his ID, he just took out a quarter?
George trying to decide something. Call it in the air, me or Tails. The show continues. Thank you for being big enough to laugh at yourself this morning. Is this P1 Meathead? That's right, Mikey. What's up, man? Not too much, dude. Tell me your AIS story. I got insurance through Mercury at first, or farmer's insurance, sorry. And they were paying me about $522 a month for a Dodge Ram. And I went to AIS, and I got renter's insurance and auto insurance for $116 a month. Really? So you combined them? So I'm saving about $4,800 a year. $4,048 a year.
$4,848 a year. I forgot $800 in savings. It's almost $5,000 a year. Dude, that's incredible. And they brought my wife and I dinner, too. We were newlyweds and just rented a new house, bought a new truck, and tried to start a family, and $600 a month just wasn't doing it for insurance. Dude, tell people that are listening right now that if they decide to finally pick up the phone and call AIS, it's going to be great. Oh, yeah. That's definitely the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, dude. I'm just really just stressing out everything that's going on right now. I talked to a lady named Lindsay over there at the Riverside department, and she hooked it up. She did the job, and I owe you guys a million thank you. Do you live in Riverside? I live in Loma Linda in Redland. Okay, cool. But you heard about it on the Mikey Show and called them. Oh, yeah. I'm a truck driver. I've been listening to you guys for about six years now. All right. Well, people living here in San Diego, this can be your story. 1-800-777-4AIS. 1-800-777-4247. Thank you, P1 Meathead. No worries, dude. See ya. Hello, Mrs. Arnold. We are the decorators. Oh, I didn't call any decorators. And you're nachos. We're the new chili cheese nachos bel grande. From Taco Bell. Look.
I'm perfectly happy with my home. People were perfectly happy with us, but we didn't let that stop us from adding even more flavor. Success is a journey. How did you go about this transformation? Well, we took the classic nachos bel grande taste you love and added flavorful hearty chili. That does sound really good. What sort of grand plans did you have for my home? Well, we were going to add chili. Taco Bell's new Chili Cheese Nachos Belgrande. All the classic Nachos Belgrande taste now topped with flavorful hearty chili to make a great taste even better. Hours may vary by location. The Mikey Morning Show continues. Featuring Mikey. If it involves danger, I try to avoid it. Eddie. I'm a simple man. Sky. I'm an adult. Respect me. Sean. I invite everyone with just a little bit of enthusiasm. Boston Rob. I hate the Yankees. You know this. And Ashley. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3.
It's a Mikey show at 643. One of two brothers accused of arson in Vista during the wildfires pled not guilty yesterday. The Cowboys reach an extension with Brett Favre Jr., Tony Romo, for six years, 67.5 million bucks. Folks, breaking wind is something that we all do from time to time. It's a little bit of a taboo subject, I think, a lot of times, but it is something that we all do. Well, the reason that I'm bringing it up, Sky, is because... I guess on Dancing with the Stars, one of the female dancers, Julianne, broke wind. And it was embarrassing. It was embarrassing. You can hear it here. She's that hot little blonde that was hooked up. I watched her last night. I guess five seconds into this clip that I'm going to play, Eddie, when she's dancing with Helio Castroneves, they do this thing where he's kind of dancing. What, Sean? They're backstage getting their results. Okay. The numerical results for their dance. Okay. And... And they're talking to them. They're talking to them, and she lets go of this, you know, pooter. And she puts her hand over her mouth. She does this, and again, it's five seconds in. Okay. Take a listen. And if you like their cha-cha, then get up off of your thing!
And vote for them. Call, text, log on to ABC.com. Do whatever you have to do. Remember, none of our stars can get through the competition without your help. Okay, I'm going to play it again because it's very light. You'll hear it kind of way off here. You'll hear it very quickly. Okay? Okay. You've got to hear it again. Cut one. And if you like their cha-cha, then get up off of your thing and vote for them. Call, text, log on to ABC.com. Do whatever you have to do. Remember, none of our stars can get through the competition. I'll play it again. Now, I want you in your mind, okay, I want you to, as I'm playing this, I want you to kind of count down. One, two, three, four, five, okay? And as you do that, right around that point, be listening for that little, okay? And if you like their cha-cha, then get up off of your thing and vote for them. Call, text, log on to abc.com, do whatever you have to do. Remember, none of our stars can get through this. No way.
I've never seen her. I don't know what she looks like. She's the hottest one by far on the show. I don't know if you'll remember her. Well, then she couldn't have. Then that can't be what it was. Please, don't ruin it for me. Beautiful women don't pass gas. We know that. Dude. She did. No way. Come on. Google images, Sky. She was the winner last year with Apollo Anton Ono. And she's a little 19-year-old, hot, blonde, tight-bodied, just... Phenomenal looking girl. Wasn't there rumors? Julianne. Julianne. Julianne. J-U-L-I-A-N-N-E. And wasn't she rumored to be hooking up with Apollo? Yeah. During the show, that was what they were saying. That just ruins everything. This guy's Googling it right now. Go to ABC.com. So that's one big deal that's out there right now.
So last week, Marie Osmond faints. This week, a girl farts. Like, what is the show? I don't know, but there was somebody. Is there like a pop culture person that I'm unaware of named Maxim? Maxim? He's one of the dancers. He's a dancer? Yeah. From Dancing with the Stars? Yeah. Maxim? Maxim Chmorskowski. Oh. Speaking of Marie Osmond passing out last week, here's his thoughts on that last night on TMZ. Cut four. Dancing with the Stars fall girl Marie Osmond blamed the raging California fires when she hit the dance floor on live TV last week. Wow. I stopped breathing. I'm so sorry. But one of the dancers just ain't buying what Marie's selling. What'd you think about Marie Osmond's fainting? Uh... Malnutrition. Melby's dancing partner, Maxim Schmerkowski, says Marie is full of it. Or not, depending how you look at it. They gotta eat. They gotta stop losing weight. All the celebrities are taking it that seriously. She thinks it's that she wasn't eating enough. Could be. She said last week we played the audio of her saying that sometimes she just runs out of air. Maybe she was holding in a fart. Could be. Sometimes that will make you pass out. What? It's definitely a way to... You've got to let them out. Definitely a way to think about it. Passing out, passing gas. It's all connected. She's a really strikingly attractive young woman. Just got the Google image of her.
Well, she was. Yeah. Well, no, no, no. Picture I'm looking at, she wasn't responsible for that. There's no way. Someone else. It was Helione. Blamed it on her. That's 100% correct. A voicemail message now from magician David Copperfield. This voicemail message was left on the voicemail of a woman whom he met at one of his magic shows. As you know, David Copperfield is under investigation right now. There's a woman that met him in the Caribbean and says he raped her. And the FBI raided his warehouse in Las Vegas, and they took $2 million in cash, a computer, and a little memory card from a camera. And Claudia Schiffer. And they exhumed Claudia Schiffer from his warehouse. Oh, wow. In storage. Oh, that's where she's been. But now that this story has broke, every woman in the world is coming out of the woodwork saying, oh, yeah.
I went backstage one time and he signed something and walked away. No. Guilty. Honestly, we had a woman that just said that. And then she said, now I'm married. And if I hadn't been married, I'm pretty sure. Well, because part of the speculation is that he actually has this whole thing going on where he has his security team pluck women out of the audience. Like a rock star. Like rock stars do. Yeah. And so the woman who's claiming she was raped by him is saying that. And now any woman who was plucked from the audience has something to say. By the way, you know who doesn't have to deal with rock stars and magicians with high libido? Women that don't go backstage. Thank you. Because, I mean, honestly, I'd like to say this to all women who go backstage. Are you stupid? What do you think? He just wants to really meet you because he thinks you've got a great personality. Show you a couple magic tricks. Well, I mean... Any woman in the world that goes backstage, you should be prepared to know... Well, you should know that the person that's asking you backstage wants you to perform oral sex on them. Whoa. Wow. Honestly. And if you're... Now, otherwise... That's an amazing thing. Really, Sean? Like, honestly? No, no, no. I think you are 100% correct in that.
They expect something other than, hi, how you doing, friendship, whatever. I'm not saying that said rock star or said magician is right. In fact, I think they're wrong. They shouldn't be doing that. But you as ladies going to shows shouldn't be like, well, I just really wanted to meet him, and then he wanted me to do oral sex, and I'm just like... You're a dum-dum. You know what it's about. It's 2007. But at the same time, there's a difference between meeting someone and having a consensual relationship and meeting somebody and being raped. Absolutely. Like, okay, here's what can happen no matter what. You're a girl. You go backstage. You are open to the fact that you may have some oral sex because, you know, you know what goes on. You're not stupid. And you go there and before anything, you know, you're just like he tackles you, holds you down, starts to beat you and forces intercourse on you. Duh. It's not okay. But if you are a girl and you're going backstage and like some guy comes up to a rock show and goes, hey, David Lee Roth, he really thinks you're gorgeous. He'd like to meet you. You want to come meet him? Okay. If someone says that to you and you go, you're stupid. Unless you want to hook up with David Lee Roth.
form oral sex. And then, hey listen, I don't condone it. You're an adult. You're going to make your own decisions for yourself. I'm just saying. Now, let me give you another example. If you are, and this is the only example where I can see that maybe this isn't going to happen. If you go see a preacher somewhere and he wants to talk to you, I think using your best judgment, your judgment isn't going to be like I think that that guy wants oral sex. It's the situation. Van Halen concert at a church. If the priest says, I want to talk to you, I think you can go, I don't think that that's what he wants. If you're at a Van Halen show, you just have to use your best judgment. What if you're a girl at a Clay Aiken show? Definitely you can go backstage without any fear of anything happening at all. What if you're a guy? You better know what's up, fellas. If you're a guy and a dude walks up to you and says, how you doing? Clay noticed you from stage and really would like to say hello to you. Same rules apply, buddy. You know what's going on around here. You're hot. He wants to say hello. So here's the message that was left on David Copperfields. You know what? Let's take a break.
When we come back, I'm going to play you the message that David Copperfield left on this woman's voicemail. And we're also going to be telling you about our fire relief efforts coming up here in just a bit. Stick around, but that voicemail's next. It's the Mikey Show. Natural food. What causes Mikey? The Mikey Show is on Rock 105.3. Welcome back to the show. It's 7-0-2. Ryan Seacrest says he saw Britney Spears giving Dallas quarterback Tony Romo a lap dance on Friday night. The Dodgers are saying they're eyeing Joe Torre as their new manager. Can you imagine being Tony Romo and you're really uncomfortable with that and you don't want her to do that, but you don't know how to go, please, please don't do this. No, thank you. You know what? I really appreciate the sentiment, but can you please stop doing that? I will pass.
You can't do that? Time out. Yes. Please. So the voicemail. Yeah. This was a voicemail left on a woman's phone from David Copperfield after meeting him at one of his magic shows. Cut three. Another woman from New York was at the same show that weekend and got the same routine. After meeting her, Copperfield left a message on her voicemail. Hey, David Copperfield, you're a friend from West. Vegas. The opportunity, an invitation to party. If you could look at your calendar, it's about a week and a half from now. Okay, here's my thoughts on that. This is a single guy who met a girl that he thinks is really good looking and he wants to hook up with her. Not unlike any guy among us that if they weren't single, wouldn't call and you had the means to invite some chick. See, most of us guys, we do what we can with what we've got.
Most of us guys, we're not making a whole ton of money, and so when we meet a girl that we think is really great, and we, well, first of all, we have to get the nerve up to call, and usually what we're able to offer is dinner at Gordon Biersch. I'm going to go get some drinks at Gordon Biersch and get a little bite to eat, okay? That's because we don't have $2 million in cash in a warehouse. If we did have $2 million in cash at our disposal, We might say, hey, I'm going to be up in, what's that place in Colorado? The place starts with an A. It's a resort. Aspen. I'm going to be up in Aspen with a bunch of my boys next weekend. We met last week. This is Mikey from The Mikey Show. We met last week. I'm going to be partying with my boys up in Aspen. I just wanted to invite you up. I can bring you up here. Don't worry about it. We're all staying at blah, blah, blah. And I just thought you might want to hang out and have fun. That is not unlike any single guy in my opinion. The only reason that it's weird is A, because we're playing it. And when you play anything, it sounds creepy. Just like when you read a transcript. Right. It sounds creepy. If I make a joke.
If I say right now, if we're in the middle of a joke and I'm joking around and I'm talking about myself and I'm like, hey man, I'm just that beaner from Gilroy, okay? And everybody laughs, ah, we have a good time. If next, if 12 years from now, I've decided to change my life, I'm going out of radio, I want to get into politics, I'm running for politics, maybe I'm running for state senate, and I'm on This Week with David Brinkley on a Sunday morning. And he says, I have a transcript here during your radio show. 12 years ago. You were quoted as saying, I am just a beaner from Gilroy. Can you talk to me about that racial slur? It feels so different at that point, doesn't it? So when you read a transcript or when you play something back, it already has a built-in quality about it. It just does. But I'm objectively listening to that voicemail going, that's a single dude.
Trying to hook up with a single girl. So the only thing the media has proved by interviewing these women and getting the voicemails and the eyewitness accounts is that David Copperfield likes the ladies and he likes to find ladies during his show and he likes to invite those ladies to the Bahamas. Yes. That is what we've learned for a fact. Yes. Everything else is speculation. Yes. Now. This guy, Pat O'Brien. Remember Pat O'Brien in Access Hollywood? Different kind of voicemail. A little bit different. Different kind of voicemail from Pat O'Brien. And I want to know what you guys think. Eddie, in your opinion, was that voicemail creepy or out of line? If anything, I actually thought he sounded kind of like a nice guy. You know, I mean, they talked about it. You know, he's like, if I had the means to invite a girl to the island, I would do that too. But, you know, I mean, I thought he sounded almost gentlemanly about it. There wasn't a creepiness to it, except that I'm under the guise of...
okay, this guy is accused of rape and he's done this before. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you put that in the mix, then I'm like, ooh. Right. But if I take that out, it sounds like he's a nice guy. Yeah. If you put into it the stuff that we know and you factor in that he's being investigated, then you go, ooh, maybe she could have been a rape victim too. Right. Maybe. But she gave him her number. Mm-hmm. When they met, they obviously hit it off enough. Listen, ladies are going, this guy was married to Claudia Schiffer. He's not bad looking and he's a millionaire. He wants my number? Okay. In fact, I bet that when that girl got that message, the last thing she was was creeped out. The only reason we know about this message now is because in light of everything, she wants to share it with the media and now maybe she's creeped out. If anything, she's kind of creepy for keeping the message. Thank you. Thank you. Sending it out. I didn't even think of that. How do you still have this message? Of course she still has it. She wants to play it for all her friends and how David Copperfield thinks she's hot. Right, right, right, right, right. Okay, so Sky has some information about a big, big fire relief that we're going to be doing as a company here in San Diego. Clear Channel as a whole has stepped up and said that this Friday

Cricket Wireless is making a lot of people happy right now. If you were affected by the fires and needed to do a lot more text messaging than you usually would be doing, you could have done it with Cricket and rest assured you weren't being charged. They don't charge you for text messages. Yeah, and they also have unlimited anytime minutes on their plan. And that also is huge for fire victims because say you lost your home phone and you normally only use X amount of minutes. Well, obviously, if you lost your home phone, your cell phone is going to be your primary point of contact from this point on. And if you're with Cricket, it makes no difference in your monthly bill. Not to mention that, you know, you should.
If you haven't figured this out yet by now, you should be taking pictures of your house and things that are in your house for insurance purposes. Heading northbound on the 15, there's an accident near that 78, slowing your ride around that. South 15, working your way out of Escondido. That's a slow-go ride now from the 78 down to the Arancho Parkway. And there's some reduced speeds again through Carmel Mountain Ranch. Heading down that coastline, South Point 5, that's pretty tough from La Costa all the way to Manchester now. You've got some heavier traffic on the 67 as well, trying to get it in and out of Ramona. That 78 is still shut down here between Bandy Canyon and Haverford. And they're diverting traffic on the Highland Valley Road down to the 67. So you're going to find a lot of activity there this morning. Out of the east county, the westbound 52 backing up out of Santee up to the top of the summit. The westbound 8 getting pretty tough now as well through the Cajon Valley towards East Main Street.
And then slows from Spring Street off and on all the way to the 15 freeway. Westbound 94. That's pretty heavy as well. From College Avenue to the 805. Then again from the 15 into downtown. And then you've got the South Bay traffic as usual. Both the 5805 northbound. It's heavy out of Chula Vista up to National City on both these freeways. 805 continues pretty tough from here. Solid all the way to North Park. And now you've got the stuff to deal with as usual out of Kearney Mesa heading up over to 52. I'm Rick Lawrence with traffic and Rock 105.3. State officials announced yesterday that fire victims will get more time to pay taxes or file tax documents. You know, I was thinking about it, about all this stuff with the fire, and one of the things that was coming to my mind was, if there are people listening that know what we can do if we've been affected by the fires, like, if you've lost your home, I'm sure there are a lot of people that just don't know who to call to get things like demolition, clean up. And I was thinking about that driving in going, I wouldn't know who to turn to, who to call. I don't even know where to go in the phone book. And so if there are people that know these kinds of things or know how to begin the process of sort of starting over, call us. Let us know.
how you do this. Because it isn't an easy process. P1 Mike, are you there? Yeah, hi. How are you, man? Good, good. What do you do? We own AMG Demolition Company and we provide demolition and cleanup services to remove the concrete and all the burnt trash debris and clean it up and deal with the people. We did several hundred homes and the 03 fires and we would like to offer our services and have people call us and get us out there and clean them up so they can get on with their lives. How do people, you know, I know you're a business, I know you have to make a living yourself, and obviously this is going to be a time where you guys are going to be pretty busy. When people are coming to you that have lost everything, how do they pay for this? Do they finance it? What do they do?
No, most people pay from their insurance policies, and some people that don't have insurance policies that aren't covered, we actually help them out and try to pick up some of the costs from our company to help out in the community and stuff like that. That's awesome, man. That is awesome, dude. And what's your company called? It's AMG Demolition, and if you go to our website, it's amgdemo.com. And I kind of wanted to touch base on your fire, dude, heroic story that you talked about yesterday with those great guys going around. Uh-huh. If you could get my company out to there, I would be more than happy to pay for their water trailer invoice that they had problems with. Really? Sure. Wow. That's awesome. For people that don't know or that didn't hear it, yesterday we got a call from some guys that were fighting fires in Ramona on their own. They went and rented a truck. that had a pressurized water valve on it, and they were fighting fires on their own. Heroes, man. Absolutely heroes. And these guys single-handedly saved Holmes and Ramona on their own, and when they went to return the fire truck, the guys told them, yeah, you owe us, oh, I don't know, hundreds of dollars more than they thought they did. And so this guy is calling in right now from AMG Demolition, you said?
Yes, AMG Demolition. The phone number is 619-501-7427 or amgdemo.com is our website. I'd be more than happy to come out. And Mike said that he will help these guys pay for that invoice of that fire truck. Mike, let me put you on hold. We'll get you in touch with those guys from Ramona. Can you hang on a minute? Yeah, thank you. That's awesome, man. And definitely give them a call. AMG sounds cool. P1, Kyle. Yeah. Kyle, what do you do? This is Kyle from Z Clean. What we do is we take smoke and odor and we remove it from your house. Lots of people are going to do that. Dude, what's the process? How do you do it? Well, what we do is we have air buffers, we have vacuums, we have air cleaners and whatnot. We go through the house and just clean everything. Literally vacuum the ceilings, the walls, floors, everything. How do people get in touch with you? Our phone number is 619-561-3030. That's great. I apologize. That's great. 619-561-3000. Okay, 619-561-3000. Got it. Hey, man, thank you. That's a great thing for people that need to get that smoke out of the house and all that stuff. Yeah, like if you left a window, a crack open, and then we're evacuated, oh, man. P1, Greg. Hey, Mikey, how you doing? Good, man. What do you do? I'm the Vice President of Operations for Assisted Build Incorporated.
We're a national company that's based in San Diego, California. What we do is a lot different from the typical or traditional general contracting company. We partner with people. We work with them to find the best subcontractors that are going to be helpful to rebuilding their home or taking care of whatever significant damage they have suffered as a result of, for example, the recent wildfires. It was founded by Bruce Kaler in 2004 after seeing people victimized by the 2003 wildfires. And the way that we're different is, let me give you a typical scenario. You contract with the general contractor. That contractor has a specific amount for the work that is needed. Then that contractor will go around and find subcontractors who will do it for the lowest cost. You're insulated from those subcontractors. Oftentimes the schedule of work gets mismanaged and the work quality suffers. What we do is different. We partner with clients. And we work with them. We turn them over to our vast resources for the contractors that they need. And we help them enter into contracts directly with those subcontractors on a pay-as-you-go basis. So what that does is it gives people control. It keeps them involved in the process instead of insulated from the people who are actually working on their home. And it protects their interests. The concept and model, the vision of Assist You to Build, is all about helping people.
So what I wanted to offer your listening audience is the opportunity to contact us so that we can either, one, directly assist them, or two, if we're not able to manage the flow of work, and with the volume of work coming from these fires, we may not be able to, we'll turn you over to someone who can. Another downfall of a lot of traditional contracting companies is they'll take whatever work comes their way, even if they can't manage or staff it. We're not going to do that. We'll take care of you if we can, but if we can, We'll make sure we put you in touch with subcontractors who you can directly contract with for the work that you need at a cost that's affordable. Now, you sound like you're on the up and up. You sound like a very reputable and honest guy. In no way will this take advantage of anybody. It won't because, again, it's a pay-as-you-go basis. Traditionally, clients will contract with general contractors. They're locked in. With us, there's a high level of accountability. If the subcontractors underperform, they're off the job. We'll bring someone else in. There's no permanent contract that you're locked into. We screen our subcontractors. We're your partner. We manage the job. So you're protected in a number of different ways. That sounds great. You would think that everybody should be doing business that way. You know, you think this should be the rule, not the exception. Well, I'll tell you why. Because there's a lot more money in general contracting. You can mark up your sub-bids.
You can slash your subcontractors behind the scenes. The client doesn't know that because they've only contracted with you for a specific amount, and the subcontractors are insulated. What we do is we open up everything to the client. You directly contract with the subs. We get a percentage on the project as the work is completed. So if the subcontractors, again, fail to perform, they're off the job. If we fail to perform, you can have us removed from the job. But we put the client in control, and that's the way it should be. Instead of turning it over to someone else and giving them full control over who to use, how much you're going to pay them, we let you know, hey, these are the people you want to use. These are the best subs. Here's their costs. And this is our fee for turning them over to you and managing the job. So we can typically save homeowners and property owners half of the cost that you would typically be exposed to when you contract with a general contracting firm. So it's just a different philosophy. How do people get a hold of you that need you? Well, they can contact us directly at our office number, which is 858-268-AU. You can contact me at Greg, G-R-E-G, at AU2B. That's our website also, AU2B.com. And again, if we can't help people, if we don't have the resources or time, and no company can take care of all of the work that's coming from these disasters, we'll put you in touch with someone who can, people who we've pre-screened.
and we know are going to provide you with a reliable product and a contract that's going to protect your interests, not theirs only. There you go. Hey, I really appreciate you coming on, and hopefully people will give you a call, man. Thank you for coming on. You got it. This is P1 Dave, and Dave is calling about something really, really good. Yesterday, we were talking about how some people who have lost their homes or who have had fire damage are being taken advantage of by people who are going door-to-door, pretending to be from insurance companies, pretending to be cops, pretending to be people that work for local officials. But they're not. They're scam artists. And Dave, first of all, Dave, tell us what you know and how you know it. Like I heard you talking about this yesterday on the show, and I heard Sky talking about it. Basically, I work in law enforcement, and I caught the tail end where Sky was saying that People were calling to houses from federal law enforcement agencies like the DEA and all that. It is not uncommon when you have a mass call-up with fires and stuff to have agencies come out, FBI, DEA, and they would wear T-shirts that should say FBI, DEA, because they're not uniformed law enforcement, so they don't have a uniform that you would recognize like DHP or San Diego PD or anything like that. And these T-shirts are not easy for anybody to get a hold of on the Internet?
Completely easy, sure. Okay, and so what can we do to safeguard ourselves and make sure that they're the real thing? The best way to do it is, even in a state of emergency like this, they are required to carry their credentials. So if you have a situation where you have somebody coming up to the house and they're wearing a t-shirt or a hat that says FBI on it, clearly you want to ask for identification and a badge, and they're required to show it to you. It'll take a few seconds. It's an inconvenience to the law enforcement officer and to you, but... It's much more important that you're safe and not have some scammers break into your house and rob you at gunpoint or take advantage of your house and loot you while you're trying to flee from a crime from a fire scene. Okay. Well, that's good to know. I mean, I'm not really sure if I, and I'm just being completely honest here, I'm not really sure if I could tell a fake badge from a real badge. I'm not really sure that I could tell fake credentials from real credentials, but I'd like the opportunity to at least try. And so knowing to ask for it is probably a good idea. At the very least you can do is ask. And as far as contractors and insurance people coming to the door, they're required to have identification and permits as well. You'll have people, a common scam is you'll have people come up and offer contracting services and they'll come with a clipboard and actually, you know, they're in your house and their buddy's burglarizing your back bedroom while you're talking to them and they're getting a quote, you know, from you guys.
So it's a big scam. Unfortunately, it's pretty common for this time of season with fires and stuff. But the only way to protect yourself is to be diligent and ask for identification and permits and licensing and, you know, take that extra step and ask for that extra identification. And if you really need a contractor, you probably shouldn't take the guy that comes door to door. Just a piece of advice. Yeah, and another thing that it reminded me of when he said that is even if somebody presents you with a contractor's license, check it with the Better Business. When my mom was doing something with getting something remodeled, the guy had a contractor's license. She checked it out, and the license had been expired for like five years. So, I mean, you've got to check up on people before, because these are huge chunks of money you're going to be spending. Absolutely. I mean, what happens is these victims of these fires will go, and they'll get checks from their insurance companies right away. The female will hop them out and get a check, so they'll have thousands of dollars. And they're trying to get to their next step and rebuild their lives.
And everyone's taking advantage of that. And these people know that you have fresh money in your pocket from these FEMA people and from insurance companies. And they're going to come door to door and try and pilfer as much as they can out of you. And it's unfortunate. But, you know, anytime we have a situation where we have a fire or a flood, it's a very common thing. It happens all the time. It's rampant. I mean, it goes on even when you don't have fire systems. We're typically the elderly. Dave, I really appreciate you calling and telling us about this stuff, man. Sure, Mikey. Just be diligent and make sure all the listeners know that just because someone says it doesn't mean they aren't. You got it. If there are people listening that are still in need, don't worry about it. A little bit later on in the show, Miles McPherson, he's the senior pastor at the Rock Church, the church that I go to, which was turned into one of only two shelters, churches that were converted into shelters and evacuation points over these wildfires. He's coming in to tell you about some relief efforts that they're doing and things that they're putting together to help you. He's also bringing a fire captain with him named Jimmy Fierro. And this guy, he has got information about what it's like to be on the front lines of these fires that will blow your mind. When you hear what the temperature of that fire is, at the point where they're fighting it, you will be amazed.
I mean, if I were to have taken a guess, I would have said the temperature's got to be, got to be 300 degrees. Sky, what would you say? Oh, I was going to guess in the mid 200s. Eddie? I would have gone just slightly higher than you. What would you say? Maybe in the, like, 350 range. Which is a pretty hot oven, right? Yeah, I mean, you would think it would be crazy. Wait until he tells you. Oh. Because we're wrong. We're real low. Wow. And they're in it sustained for an hour. Fire Chief Jimmy Fierro coming in with Miles McPherson later on. If you are a female singer and you have always wanted to showcase your abilities and talents. Not exactly. I got something for you coming up next. I mentioned that if you are a female singer, we're going to have a pretty cool opportunity for you. I have a, Eddie and I, when we were living in Rochester, New York, we got to meet this guy. He was actually our boss. And he had a son that was kind of around our age who's a real good singer. And his name is Joe Bricato. And he's got an album out right now that you can get on iTunes. And the album is called Free. And he's spelled B-R-U-C-A-T-O. And he's in L.A. right now. He's talking to some people about doing some stuff. He's going to have a song and a new Angelina Jolie movie. Wow. Impressive. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, he's a really good singer. Wow.
But he's friends of ours, too, and so he's coming in on Monday to sing. So he said to me last night, he goes, what do you want me to sing? And I said, I really dig that song, Waiting for My Kingdom to Come. Because to me, it's about God. He wrote it about something else. He doesn't have my exact beliefs, but I really like the way it sounds, and I take it the way I take it. He goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, I could sing that if I come in. I actually said, yeah, I could do that. I love it. that his speaking voice is almost exactly like his singing voice. Very raspy and gruff. But he left me a message that made me laugh out loud because his voice is awesome. Yeah, his voice is insane. I'm not going to play the whole thing, but this is one of the songs he's going to sing with his acoustic guitar in here. I'm not afraid of dying. I'm not afraid of what will be.
Guy's voice still gives me chills. I'm not afraid of dying. No, no. It's got a very Bob Seger quality to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's really cool. Well, it's funny because he's done a lot of national television commercials like Chevy and stuff like that because he sounds like Seger. Yeah. Well, anyway, so he said, what if I sang the song Let It Be? It's a song from his new album. that it's not a cover of the Beatles. Oh, I was like, oh, yeah, cool. No, no, no, I'm sorry, not Let It Be. Let It Be Me. Oh, okay. He said, what if I sing Let It Be Me? And I'm familiar with his song because I've heard his new album, and I go, oh, dude, I go, that's a great song, but it's a duet. And he goes, why don't you find a hot girl in your audience to sing it with? And I laughed, and I was like, and he goes, no, don't worry, I can sing it by myself on the guitar. And it gave me the idea, why don't we?
Why don't we find a girl in the audience that can sing? And I told him that and he went nuts. Like he loves it. He loves the idea. And so we're making it very easy for you. If you're a girl and you can sing. No, no, no. Did you hear the last part? What he said? You're a girl, but if you can sing. I don't mean sing like. Not sing like that. I don't mean sing like that. Well, everyone has a different tone. So maybe it would help if you clarified like what kind of tone you're looking for. Maybe what tone you're not looking for. Because everyone's different. Okay. Yeah. What I'm looking for is a tone. Well, let me play you Joe's song as it actually is. So you can get like a listen feel for what I'm working with here. Cool.
Yeah, exactly. If I can find my range. Oh, no. This is the song they're going to use in the Angelina Jolie movie. No way. Yeah. That's awesome. This is a very movie song. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, here's the deal. I think that you... Don't want to ruin the integrity of your own singing segment. That's the deal, Ash. Oh. That's it. That's it. We don't want to ruin the integrity of your singing segment. It would take away. It would detract. It would detract. I can kind of see where you're coming from. You know what I'm saying? Like, who wouldn't be able to play you doing... Wake up. Oh, no. I feel nauseous. Integrity. Thank you.
So what we're looking for are female singers, besides Ashley, that can actually sing really, really well. That can sing, you know, other women that can sing really, really well. And what we want you to do is, right now, go to MikeyShow.com. M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com. When you go there, the first thing you're going to see real big is looking for female singers. And if you click there, you're going to be able to read the words to the song that we just played for you so that you know what the words are when you come in here and sing them. Now, just listen to the song, read the words, and then on Friday, call us and sing on the phone. That's it. This could be your big break. Could be your big break. Singing on the radio? Yeah. I mean, how many people would love, kill to do that? Well, see, what we're going to do is we're going to pick the one on Friday that we want, and then on Monday, you get to come back. and be in the studio with Joe Bercato and sing that song with him live in the studio. So it's an opportunity. That's so cool. It's an opportunity for somebody to be heard on a large scale, and it's an opportunity for maybe somebody in the listening audience to hear you and go, you know, I heard this girl, she's real good, maybe get her signed up for something, blah, blah, blah. P1 Vicky, are you there? Yes, I'm here. Are you a singer? Yes, I love to sing. Okay, then all you need to do is...
Go to MikeyShow.com, M-I-K-E-Y, S-H-O-W.com. You're going to see Looking for Female Singers when you get to the website. Click there. One of you will be picked, and you'll have the opportunity to come in here and sing with Joe Bricado. I got this. I love it. Hey, how old are you, Vicki? I'm 31. Perfect. You know, the girl that sang that with him is, she's like 38 years old, so it doesn't matter how old you are. You could be in your 40s, you could be in your 20s, you could be 19, and you could pull that off. You just gotta be good. You just gotta be good. So, thank you, Vicki. I appreciate it.
Thank you, guys. Love you, guys. Thank you. Preferably someone 19. Sean? Wow. Gross, pervert. And dressed... Dressed like an otter. All right, relax. People really like getting three cents back on debit card purchases with their WAMU free checking account. I don't. You don't? No. I don't like three of anything. Three little pigs, three-legged races, or even three cents back on debit card purchases. Really? No. I just have a contrarian streak. I like to disagree. Oh, so then you do like that you get three cents back on debit card purchases with a WAMU free checking account. Hmm. Personally, I think it's genius. It's shminious. Shminious? Yes. The opposite of genius. You'd rather be charged three cents for every debit card purchase? That makes no sense. You're forgetting. I'm a... Contrarian, yeah. No, I'm not. It's a rock band, the X-E. Welcome back to the show. It's 7.54. A third O.J. Simpson accomplice has agreed to testify against O.J. in exchange for a lesser sentence. The Yankees and Joe Girardi are not quite official yet, but they're close. Don Mattingly says he will not return to the team. How come the X-E aren't, you know, a big rock band? Shawna. Now, why does Shawna hate the X-E? I don't know. She loves Nickelback so much. It's like she loves Nickelback. She hates the X's. Yeah. Nice taste, Shawna. She's punching her radio right now. So bad. She said that the people that are like the management for Nickelback and all that, like they don't take her phone calls out because she hates them so much. She has such a history. Like she stands alone in the country as those guys.
KIOZ is those guys that, like, we're the station that singularly refuses to play Nickelback because our program director thinks they're that lame. Yeah. Which I... I applaud. Oh, yeah. I applaud. I think it's hysterical. Yeah. That the band is 100% aware of her. Like, they know who Shauna Moran is. Yeah. So funny. And it's because she refuses to play the music because she thinks it's so dumb. How can you listen to this and think that these lyrics are dumb? I like the... A good rock song has to have sound effects. Yeah. And after you say you joined the Mile High Club at 37,000 feet, you need a voice in the background to go... In there. Yeah, that's a cool rocker. Yeah. Duh. Yeah. Been there. Done that. Sounds gay. Loves it when you play them. That's right. 570-1053 is the phone number. Sky, what do you got? Oh, we just got an awesome email from a P1. You know, a couple of breaks ago, we were talking about local companies helping out the fire victims right now because there's so much they need from rebuilding to cleaning to landscaping, whatever.
Well, P1 Christine, who we actually met a while ago. She came in here. She won P1 Trivia and was in here on a Friday. She owns a local company called Cleanology. Which one was she? You've got to remind me. There's been so many. I mean, she was blonde, really cool. She owned a cleaning company. I don't know how else to describe it. Yeah, I mean, we talked about her cleaning company. She was really quiet. Yeah. If she was really quiet, there's no way I'll remember. Yeah. In other words, she was doing... a good job of being an observer. Yeah. Because we have some people that come in and they're mostly all over Sky. Which is fine by me. Yeah, which is hysterical. Right. It's great. It's my favorite. Go ahead, Sky. But anyway, so yeah. So P1 Christine, her company is called Cleanology and right now they're running a post-fire cleanup thing and basically... 10% of any money they make right now from fire-related cleanings, cleaning the inside of your home, will be donated to a fund which is matched by another company. So it actually is 20% going to the fire relief fund. So she, in her email, talks about how they just went out to a house in Rancho Bernardo that had an inch of soot throughout their whole home, and all the windows and doors were closed.
All of them were closed, but still an inch worth of soot got into the house all over. So I'm sure there's a lot of people who need a cleaning company, and it's cool to know that if you're paying for this cleaning company, it's local, and 20% of what you're paying is actually going back to fire victims. So if you want to reach Cleanology, their phone number is 619-281-CLEAN, or they have a website, cleanologiesd.com. Very cool. Yeah. Very, very cool. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, it's Brenda. Hi, Brenda. Listen, you guys, I'm calling because I'm kind of upset because you guys have been talking about the fire and everything all morning. I mean, we've been talking about it all week. But one thing that's really starting to get under my skin is that everyone keeps referring to them as evacuees, right? Mm-hmm. And if you remember back when, you know, New Orleans had the floods and everything, they kept referring to them as refugees. And I was, you know, like, am I alone here? Like, refugees? Yes. I mean, you know what's going on here, right? Yes, you are alone. Well, no, she's right. I mean, the news was, the media was referring to those people as refugees, and we were evacuees. That's true. And the thing is, is that, I mean,
You're not naive. Like, this is a total race issue, class issue. I mean... We're rich, they were black, right? Exactly. I think Mike was being sarcastic. I'm not rich, but I'm much better off than some of those people who are, like, living in, you know, basic squalor. And it's just, I just feel really... What's your name? Brenda? Brenda. Brenda. Brenda. Brenda. Brenda. Stop it, Sean. Why do I always ask people what their name is when it's in front of me on call screener? Why do I do that? Anyway, Brenda, while we were talking, I went on to dictionary.com and I looked up the word refugee. What does it say? It says a person who flees... for refuge or safety. So, I guess... Hang on. Brenda. Brenda. Brenda. Please. Take a breath. I beg you. So, what that says to me is that the people in New Orleans were refugees and the people in San Diego are refugees if they had to evacuate their home and, by definition, flee for refuge or safety. But the thing is, is that...
For evacuees, it's a nicer, cleaner, richer, whiter world. It is? Okay, I don't want to jump on her boat because she's saying some stuff that I don't agree with, but she's also saying some stuff that I'm kind of interested in. I went on dictionary.com. Yeah, that's what I said. What did I say? Oh, I don't know. That's the one I always go to. The same. Well, mine says, one who flees in search of refuge. Dictionary.com. Mikey, if you want, you can use Dictionary.com, but I just went on Dictionary.com. Now you feel, smart guy. And I think I may have a little something different for you. Well, because the definition I'm coming up with says one who flees in search of refuge as in time of war, political oppression, or religious persecution. Well, on Dictionary.com. Oh, this is a completely different site. On Dictionary.com, they have a whole separate definition for political refugee. And my definition is correct and your definition is correct. So in other words, we're both right. But then if you look up the definition of evacuee, it says something about getting away from danger. So it sounds like what we have in New Orleans and what we have in San Diego.
are the same thing. It sounds like the people of New Orleans and San Diego are refugees, and they're also evacuees. That's the chocolate I'm talking about. Skye, do they have to be one or the other? Well, see, I'm not seeing anything in regards to political refugee. Here's another thing, is that President Bush pre-signed money to go to the evacuees in California. But it took them, like, what, four days to give money to New Orleans? Is that not racist or what? That's news to me. I think it's called learning. But why was the media using different terms? Why is the media using different terms? I have an answer for that. I have an answer for maybe why they're using different terms. Okay. Because when they said refugee in New Orleans, they took a lot of crap for it. I remember. Yeah, he's right. Like, when they said refugee in New Orleans. They kind of figured it out, too. Maybe they thought, oh, well, refugee maybe isn't the right word, and we get it right now. So in 03, the Cedar Fire victims were referred to as refugees? I don't know. I don't remember. George Bush doesn't care about black people. Oh, no. Kanye, get out of here. We don't need this right now. Brenda's covering it. Kanye. That was just weird. Skye, do you believe that it's racist? I don't. I believe it's weird.
Like, it doesn't make sense to me. I'm not going to, like, flat out say it's due to race, it's due to class. I'm not going to say that. You're right. I thought you weren't going to include class, but it's total class. It's a class. We're in a class system. Brenda. Brenda. But, Brenda, you believe it's based on race and class. She believes it. Just say it. You believe it's they were black, we're white. Oh. Say it. I do, but also they were poor blacks. Dancing around it. Poor blacks. It's not that they were like the Cosby family. Oh, wait. It's not like they were what? The Cosbys. So the Cosbys would be evacuees. Technically, it would be the Huxtables. Oh, there you go. I'm sorry, but they would be. Let's get it right here. Well, the reason is because they were rich blacks. The Huxtables were rich blacks. He was a doctor, and so they would have been evacuees. According to Brent. Walk me through this, though, Brenda. What about the fact that in the Harris Fire, which took place in Chula Vista, a predominantly Hispanic community, we didn't make any distinction. We didn't call them refugees. They were evacuees as well. Was that somehow... Wad up. Yeah, wad up. What about that? Wad up.
Espanol. Yeah, Skye can explain. Skye, explain to the Spanish community, Skye, what exactly you have to say now. I don't speak Spanish. Okay, Skye is trying to speak now to the community of Chula Vista. Skye, what else would you like to add to that? Tipo son estupidos. Oh, that's just rude. I mean, they're going through enough. I think they've been through enough. Thank you. Anyway, Brenda, to say that we called the people of New Orleans refugees and we're calling the people of San Diego evacuees because of race and money, I think is ridiculous. I think that we've learned a lot of lessons. That's the deal. It's become politically incorrect to use the word refugee. Like, refugee somehow says poor and black. I know. By definition, it's a person who flees for refuge or safety. And even if it wasn't, let's say that it was a political thing. Because the definition also goes on to say, especially to a foreign country as in time of political upheaval or war. Now that's on dictionary.com. Yes, it is. And I'm reading from dictionary.com. That's different than myself. I want to make the distinction. But the last time we used the word refugee was when the Vietnamese were coming to the United States. So we're not even talking. I mean, so it's not even the same race.
If we use the word refugee and it was Africans that were coming here, I can understand you pointing to it and saying, oh my goodness, how racist. But Brenda, we're talking apples and oranges. They're different. I don't know, man. All I know is that in New Orleans, it took a long freaking time. I don't think anybody's debating that. I don't think anybody's debating that. It was a really bad situation in New Orleans. I think the government and most people learned from that, and they're trying to improve it with what happened here in San Diego. Wait a minute. P1 Molly has something to say about this to you, Brenda. Wait a minute. Hang on just a second. P1 Molly, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. What did you want to say? It's a simple thing. Pick up a dictionary, please. Read it. A refugee. It's a long-term thing. And it's not racist. It's just a term. Nobody has more issues with their own color than I do myself. I'm white and, you know, Irish, Catholic, and I have such problems with rednecks, okay? If I am, you know, racist or a bigot, that's my biggest problem.
Skye says the same thing, by the way. Skye is a white Anglo-Saxon woman, and she says she's got the biggest problem with white Anglo-Saxon women. Well, you have the biggest problem with whiteys. No, I refer to them as rednecks. Yes, Skye says white trash. Skye has the biggest problem with her own race. I'm not white trash. I'm white recyclable. Okay? Thank you. I like you. Thank you. Politically correct. I like you too, Skye. And thank you for looking it up in the dictionary. Yes. Yeah, I didn't. I looked mine up in the dictionary. Only in the dictionary. Thank you. But I just want to say thank you for calling Brenda on this. Brenda, I'm sorry, but please look up words and see their definitions before you call. Yeah, look up words. Snap. Yes, snap, as they say. And guys, I love you. And the refugee community. And the refugee community. Bye-bye. Thank you for the call. You're just way too right for me, homeboy. P1 Michelle, are you there? Yes, I am. Go ahead.
Wow. Wow. Our homes were, yeah, we would have a house to go back to. Well, not everyone. Not everyone. And then come back. Not everybody, though. Not 1,500 people, or 1,500 homes, I should say. Yeah, 1,500 homes were burned to the ground. They didn't have a home to go back to. Right. But I think I... No, I don't know what you're saying. No, I don't know what you're saying. Okay, so everybody had to evacuate. I lived in Poway, and I had to evacuate. But I did go back to a home that was, thank God, still standing. But most of the people... Actually, I would say almost every single person that lived in that area, New Orleans, didn't have a home to go back to because it was submerged completely underwater. She has a point. That's true. So they're refugees. That's true, right? Nothing to do with race or class. Sorry, this isn't the 17th century. I guess it just depends on who you're talking about. Because the people that did lose their houses are like, well, not me. I don't have a house. So some of the people in Rancho Bernardo and Ramona, then they're refugees? I thought everybody was underwater in New Orleans.
No, and there was a lot of water damage to places. Just like a lot of smoke damage. Some of them had places to go back to. Look up the words. Who's the bobblehead now? Yeah, bobblehead. What up? Brenda, I'm sorry, but we're not getting any support for your opinion. Nobody's calling in to agree. What? I see what you're saying, Brenda. I mean, you're taking it a little far for me, but I'm confused too. I always like to point out how racist white people are. I just don't know. It makes no sense. No, it just makes no sense. Anytime anybody wants to say hypocrisy, I'll jump on. I don't care if it's right, wrong. Even if it makes me look like a hypocrite. Sure. It makes no sense. Which happens all the time. I mean, all the time. I mean, it doesn't really matter because it's practically heard, but it makes no sense. We're being honest. Every what out of my mouth. Every time. Well, let's be really honest. It's never not happened that way. Please. It just doesn't make sense. In a word, always. Why they're using two different terms for the same people. It makes no sense. Not the same people. Well, I mean, they're human beings and they've lost their homes. So that's what I'm talking about. Same people. Thank you, Brenda, for the... We're both right. Yes, we're both right. Thank you, Brenda.
Thanks, guys. This should have been a lawyer. I got a text message from Crush It that said, this woman is making me furious. You don't want to make him furious. No, he's a big guy. I mean, is this really an issue? I mean, this is what we're worried about. Brenda's worried about it. Term. She's mad. Like, come on. There's so much bigger fish to fry. That's terrible. Yeah, I mean, there are electric cars without sound out there right now. Thank you. And that woman is calling in. Food coloring anybody? Hello. And that woman is taking the time to call with a... Give me a break, lady. That's great. What about blind people? Try putting a horn on a Prius before you call us, for goodness sake. Shut up. Or something. Whatever. They should have a trolley sound on that. Yeah, well, you know, like how cats wear... Wear bells around their necks every once in a while. Yeah, it needs a collar. Yes. There you go. Get a collar for the electric cars. Call your mom. Call her. Get your mom on the phone. Electric car collar. We figured it out. We put a cowbell on it. We need more cowbell. There you go. Yes, more cowbell. Hey, I got an electric car. And the only prescription is more cowbell. And the only prescription is more cowbell. Yeah.
Please, back to the topic. I think we're all under the same agreement. For those of you that don't know what we're talking about. Oh. Everyone knows already. They do not know. You shut up, Sean. For the benefit of new listeners, Skye's mother is an activist. Oh. And you may remember her from her work in the 80s and 90s fighting food coloring, which she believed made kids hyperactive. Insane. She took it on TV? That's right. She went on the Mary Lou Henner Show to talk about it. What was that? Taxi? Are you picking that up? That is a true statement. Mary Lou Henner, for five and a half minutes, had a TV show called the Mary Lou Henner Show. You guys are lame. Shocking. And right now, she's got a new cause. What it was born of is on three separate occasions, Skye's mother was almost run down. On two separate occasions, Skye's mother was almost run down. That makes it better. Yes, twos, much fewer times. On two separate occasions, she was almost run down by a rogue. Shut up. You're such a drama cat. It was wrong. How is it rogue? It was just barreling down the road. No, it was not. Out of control. No, it was not out of control barreling down the road. And extremely quiet. Yes, it was, Rob.
Barreling quietly. You guys are so dumb right now. An electric car went barreling down. It was like quiet death proof. What are you talking about? You're so dumb right now. Can we please get back to the topic? Stop talking about my mom. Imagine that dead silent. How intimidating is that? Get out of the way! So she was almost run down by it and got her to thinking. Hang on a second. Wait a minute. Those terribly dangerous electric cars can kill people unless they have sound. Unless they have sound. They've become so quiet, I can't hear them. I could get hurt on two separate occasions. I was almost run down. What if you're blind? Yeah, you rely on your ears a lot. If you're blind, you rely on your ears. You would think that you would also, you know, not be...
I thought that the blind people had some sort of way to not walk into streets. Well, usually they'll have their, you know, seeing eye dogs or, you know, canes or whatever. Things of this nature. How's a cane going to help you in an alleyway? I don't know. What are you doing if you're blind walking in an alleyway? What are you, daredevil? What are you, daredevil? What are you, daredevil? Hang on, hang on. Our consultant Randy is in the studio and he has something to add to this. Thank you, Randy. Randy, science. Science. It is true that the study came out that more people have died from hybrid cars being hit by hybrid cars because they're quiet than any other technology that's come along in the last 20 years. Hey, listen. Thank you, Randy. Thank you, Randy. Randy just leaked in your face. Smartest man ever. Now, hang on, Randy. I think that you could be absolutely right. Like, people are dying because they're very silent. You're mocking. No, no, no. I haven't even said anything. You're mocking. You pissed me. He's been mocking for the last 15 minutes. Would you let him finish? He's been mocking. Let him finish. And Randy faced on his face. I have a point to make here. Leaked on his face. I have a point to make here. I want to hear this. All I'm going to say is that you are right. I was unaware that so many people were being affected by these quiet cars. What they call a quiet killer.
The silent killer. The silent killer. The silent assassin, sometimes they call it. The silent assassin. I've heard that. I've heard that. There's been studies. There's been studies. That's what you call my husband at poker games. That's true, too. But wait, wait, wait, Randy. So here's my thoughts on this. What are your thoughts? I say, I say, instead of focusing on things that are not that important, like AIDS, cancer, let's pull our energy. For the silent killer. Yeah. Or yes. It's just one of her many things she's looking into right now. There's one now. I'm sorry. Look out! I'm sorry you guys hate people who help people. It makes my morning so much better, I swear to God. This is The Mikey Show. I appreciate that, dude. That's very nice of you to say. Rock 105.3. Attention, San Diego's snowboarders and skiers. Mikey Show, hello. P1 Josh out here. I just want to get a suggestion on the sleep train. Go ahead, dude. I need to find a new mattress to freaking... You want me to tell you what kind to get? Yeah, I need a... Because my mattress is killing me. I'm in the Marines and my back is just done. Let me tell you what to get. Go get the Stearns and Foster. Or you could go with the Sealy. That's what Sky sleeps on, right, Sky? Yeah, I love it. Sky sleeps on the Sealy. I sleep on the Stearns and Foster, both available at Sleep Train. All right, all right. What are you sleeping on now, old mattress? Yeah, I've had it for about two years, you know. We were on a budget, so freaking we had to go low because we were sleeping on a futon. Oh. So freaking. Don't worry. Don't worry, dude. First of all, stop saying freaking so much. I know. Thank you. Go down to Sleep Train. They'll work with you as far as what your budget is, and they'll find you a good mattress. Mention me, okay? All right. And they'll take care of you. All right. Okay, bro. We'll see you. Sleep change your ticket to a better night's sleep. The Mikey Show continues featuring Mikey. The host of the show is a freak show. Eddie. Guy. I shower at night and I do my hair at night. Gross. Thanks. Sean. Well, you know what? I'm a nonconformist. Boston Rob. Nothing in my life can go normal. Nothing in my life. And Ashley.
I'd like to share. I'd share my food with you. The Mikey Show's on. I hear you, buddy. Rock 105.3. It's new from John Mayer. He sings real good and girls like it when he does. He's currently dating Lila Garrity from Friday Night Lights. And he'll do that for a couple more weeks. And then there will be a movie that comes out that's real popular or TV show that's real popular. Or there will be a new gigantic dynamic female superstar in the world of music. And he will shatter the dreams of Lava Garrity and begin dating the new girl. And the thing that is troubling and fascinating at the same time is that these women keep going for it.
It's a belief that they have that is, I'll be different. I'm the one. I'm the one for John Mayer. This is actually a lesson plan for them. It's an instruction manual. It is 829. Gwen Stefani announced yesterday that she will donate all of her proceeds from her show tonight at Cox Arena to help fire victims. Dallas Cowboys have reached an extension with their quarterback, Tony Romo, for six more years worth $67.5 million. Dreaming with a broken heart, John Mayer. It's a good song. I got an email here that I want to read to people, see what they think about this. Sometimes we get emails from you guys and let people call in and say what they think. It says, hey, Mikey, I need your help. My wife is making me crazy. For some reason, her favorite holiday is Halloween. I knew this before we got married, so I can't really blame her, but I need to figure out how to put a stop to it. Stop to Halloween? Well, it's not exactly that. He says, she has me build a giant haunted house every year. And every year it gets bigger and bigger. This year, the thing takes up our entire garage and backyard. I've been working on it for three weeks and spent a lot of money. I don't care about Halloween, so it doesn't mean much to me, but she makes me dress up and perform in the haunted house as well.
I want to know where they live. Yeah, no kidding. Wow. Somewhere right now, somebody's listening to this going, that's my neighbor. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm telling you, if I tell her I don't want to build the dang thing, she will be really upset. She looks forward to it every year. I don't get it. Should I just suck it up and build it, or should I put my foot down? Signed, P1 Scrap Iron. I couldn't begin to tell you what I think. But we do have a professional here. Today on Dr. Fish, I want you to get excited about your life. If you're going to talk to me, you're going to have to be honest. This is going to be a changing day in your life. Holy moly. My goodness gracious. Throw that kid a Snickers. Trick or treat to you too, young man.
Well, listen, I am here to help. Finally, a word of advice for this young man. Now, I heard what he said. I don't necessarily believe it. In fact, I say, my goodness sake, pine tar. No, no, no. I think it was scrap iron. Whatever. Okay. I'm going to give two types of advice. All right. Mostly. I'll give you advice for your dilemma, assuming that you really are upset about this, and then I'm going to give my real advice. Oh. See, this guy's saying he don't want to build a haunted house. Right. Can't blame him. Have you tried reminding this woman of yours that she's lucky that she's not homeless right now because of what's going on out there with these fires and that she should try building that haunted house herself and then inviting some people from RB to come and stay in it? A little much. The only thing haunted about your house is the witchy poo you've got living in it right now, Captain Nova.
That's all I'm going to say. It's witchy poo. Now, I got a few pieces of advice for you. Good. We need it. First of all, pull all of your savings out of the bank. That's number one. Why? Number two, hire a vagrant to be your personal assistant. What is he saying? They're cheap. That's right. Just like Boston Rob. Yes. I'm fine. They're cheap, and if they see you doing something illegal, you can dispose of them without anyone caring, just like Boston Rock. Oh, no. You don't want to do that. Dr. Phil, be serious. Be serious. Okay, I'm going to be serious for you. Here's another idea. Make your way across the country holding up hot dogs on a stick. Then... Illegal. Illegal. Yeah. And demand to put a corn dog on layaway. That's what you need to do with that. What the hell are you talking about? Last part doesn't make any sense, right? No, not at all. Sorry, it's just that I'm very high on my ADD meds right now. I don't have ADD. I just like getting trashed on the meds. Dr. Phil, please. I understand this man's trepidation about Halloween. What was his name?
Corn job? No, it was not corn job. It was scrap iron. I understand what his problem is here. The thing with Halloween that y'all have to remember is it's a holiday associated with the occult and things like that. Not anymore. I don't know about that, Eddie, because I used to be actually heavily involved in this. You really? I did not know. I was in a cult called Oprah's Book of the Month. That is terrible. That is terrible. It was an evil sect where we forced women to read volumes upon volumes of horrifying texts. I think it's just a book. That is awful. I'm so sorry to hear that. Fortunately for me, I was able to go underground and escape the long arm of Oprah's Book of the Month. Thank goodness you escaped. There's a lot of victims still out there, Dr. Phil. Back to Scrap Heave. It's Scrap Iron. If you really want to get out of this, there's a few things you can do. Oh, some actual advice. Here we go. That's what I've been waiting for. One, you can accidentally... Why are you doing the finger quotes? Yeah, I get nervous when he does that. It's just for you all here. Oh, sorry. You can accidentally cut someone's arm off with a chainsaw in the haunted house. No, you don't. Don't say that. Do not listen to Dr. Phil.
That'll shut down your operation real quick. Well, that is true. It would. Hey, man. Or, instead of using dry ice for the smoke this year, maybe try mixing in a little bleach pneumonia. No, that is really dangerous. Do not do that. Everybody listening, do not do that. It will kill you. I'm just telling you. It will kill you. You'll clear that house out faster than a Honda Civic after a bean-eating contest. Okay. You don't need to say things like that. Hey, Philip. Bottom line is, let's talk to Philip. Sorry, Dr. Philip. The bottom line is that you need to do a little test. Check your pants. Make sure your man tickles are there. Your man tickles? Yes. Well, I don't know what that is. You are the man. She is the woman. What you say goes. Tell her she's not 12 anymore. To hit your point home, you can start acting like a baby and wear a diaper around the house. To really illustrate what you're trying to tell him. That's really weird. I don't think that's necessary. Not only do I personally find it convenient, it'll prove your point. Do you like to wear a diaper? Yes. That's weird. I'm wearing one now. No. What you got to do here is you really got to play it up. Kick those legs and scream when you're naughty.
And while she's changing... Hey, Dr. Phil, what's the matter? Hey, man. What's up, bro? You're getting weird. Sorry, I had a tickle in my throat. Okay, tickle a little something. And while... Listen to me. Okay, bro. What you got? While she's changing you, explain to her that we all wish we could be children again, but sometimes you just have to grow up, okay? Yeah. Then... accidentally... You're doing the finger quote thing again. Go again to have her remind you of your point. Are you kidding me? Are you going to give any legitimate advice today? That's also meant to give you a laugh later. So you're not going to help anyone today. One last thing and then I have to go. Don't go. Does it worry anyone that the consultant of the Mikey show is not laughing and jotting down notes? Maybe the last time you were on the show, Dr. Phil. One last thing and then I got to go. You know, some people think Halloween is all fun and games, but I can tell you can be very scary, very real. Okay, I'm going to illustrate this point then. Like I said, I got to split.
Where do you go? Yeah, what's up? You got another interview? I'm going over to the Tony and Chris show. But anyway, listen to me. What is that? Randy wouldn't let you go there either, man. Okay, now listen. Now listen to me. Now listen to me. What you got? I used to live in the presence of what some would call a poltergeist. Ooh, really? No, this is interesting. That's right. What happened? This particular entity referred to itself as Oprah Winfrey. Again, not again. Again, Oprah. I mean, we get it. Just saying that name sends chills down my spine. It does for most of us. She got you a show. And I'm telling you that that entity controlled nearly every aspect of my life. She's a person, not a fool. It helped her career so much, Dr. Phil. It had truly frightening face paints. And it would constantly scream out things like... Please welcome Dr. Phil. Absolutely blood curdling. Mike was here. The Mikey show continues. Mike is a 053. Once upon a time, you got married with the very best intentions. But sometimes things simply don't work out the way you intended. If you're a man facing divorce, be careful. There could be rough times ahead.
And some men don't always think clearly. They often tend to compromise or rush to settle things without the advice of their own attorney. This is Rick Jones of the law firm Goldberger & Jones. Selecting the right attorney for your divorce is one of the most... I put things off. I do like to put things off until the last minute. Eddie. I keep a log of my insult. That must be a pretty long log. That's what she said. Oh my... Save that clip. I don't often drink milk, but when I do, I have to salt. Boston Rob. I got ideas, man. They're worth money. And Ashley. I don't know anything about that. Save that clip. Save that clip. You will save that clip. I think Rihanna's dating some famous dude. You guys, you see in People? Do you remember? Didn't we just talk about it? It was in People magazine. And we said, did Jay-Z approve that?
Chris Brown. Chris Brown. Welcome back. It's 847. One of the two brothers accused of arson in Vista during the wildfires pled not guilty yesterday. Major League Baseball is very upset with A-Rod's agent Scott Boris for the timing of their announcement. If he's guilty, I'd rather he plead not guilty. Oh, you mean arson in Vista? Yep. Because if they convict him, it'll be a lot worse. Love, love. Or maybe not. Well, you know, I guess it's all about the jury pool, as they say. Gotta be smart about that. What are the lawyers that you hire? Well, yeah, you gotta have some dough. For instance, if these two young men's last name is Gonzales, first of all, find a law firm called Ferdinand, Gonzales, and Santino's. What? What?
That's your first thing. Then make sure that all the jurors named Sanchez, Garcia, Gomez, and Esparza. That's real Mexican. Then I would make sure that you have a lot of cards, particularly race cards. Yes. And my suggestion, play them. Well, what if they wanted to put a white woman on the jury? You're making me so mad. Get over here. No, I'm not. I'm not blonde. I'm just saying if she was a blonde. Yeah. And if you started the fires with gloves, try them on. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, and make sure they don't fit. Make sure they don't fit and struggle. Really try and get those gloves on. Yeah, you'd be like, you'd take your hands and say, I can't even light matches. Look, I'm trying to light this match and I can't even do it. Okay. And they let you go. OJ? How long I've been on the air? I mean, just this particular time. How long we've been talking here? A couple minutes. A couple minutes? Have I mentioned in that time that I once rushed for 2,000 yards for the Buffalo Bills? Not since yesterday. Or got away with double murder? Oh yeah, that too. You know, I chop people's heads off. Scott free. Thank you, double over the top. I just want to be clear. I danced in their blood. Thank you, double over the top. Thank you, double over the top. Cannonball! Yeah, like that.
I'm being inappropriate. Mikey Show. Hey, you know the thing I want to talk about on that, this is P1 Rick, about the Katrina, was you had a lot of looting going on, too. And those guys are getting flooded over there. So what does that have to do with being called a refugee or an evacuee? The thing is, is those guys had to leave for a long period of time. What does the looting have to do with being called a refugee or an evacuee? That it probably doesn't have nothing to do with it, but the thing is, is what was messed up is that... Even the cops didn't want to go in there. People were getting killed. No, no, no, no. But your original point was, hey, one thing we have to keep in mind in regards to being called a refugee or an evacuee is that there was a lot of looting going on. Right. So what do you mean? Explain. What is your point? No, I guess it's off of that. I guess it's not quite. No, no, no, no. I think you had a point. I just don't think you want to make it. Yeah. Thank you. I wouldn't either. Caught. I wouldn't either. I wouldn't want to make that point. That point is by definition racist. Yeah. But I think I get where he was going. We're going to do Wuss Rock Jukebox here in just a little bit, so stay tuned for that. Miles McPherson, senior pastor at the Rock Church, is coming in, and he's bringing Jimmy Fierro, fire captain for San Diego Fire Department. And they're both going to tell – well, Miles is going to tell you how you can still be hooking people up and helping them out. And Jimmy Fierro is going to give us perspective on that fire like we've never heard.
because we don't know what it's like to be firefighters. But let me tell you, these guys, it's unreal what they do. And I know you hear that a lot, and I know that starts to sound cliche. I'm telling you, I am such a wuss. I could never do what they do. I couldn't even come close to doing what they do. Those guys, it's a whole different type of dude. There's a type of dude that says, I want to be a firefighter, sees what they have to do, and then goes, maybe not for me. Yeah. There's another type of guy goes, I want to be a firefighter, sees what they have to do and keeps going and says, yeah, I'm going to keep doing this. It's going to be my job. And that is a whole different type of guy. Oprah is apologizing because of abuse that's going on in her South African school that she opened. Yeah. What's going on there? Well, I guess so. We all know that Oprah opened this $46 million school for girls in South Africa. Yeah, she shoved it down our throats. Yeah, she went, yes, yes. All the photo ops.
Yeah, look how great I am. So yeah, so she did that. Really nice. Well, I guess she went, Oprah went back to South Africa this weekend and apologized to parents and students after there were allegations of sexual abuse coming out of the school, that one of the school matrons, you know, one of the chicks in charge at the school was sexually abusing one of the female students. Oprah, I guess, canceled everything she had to do for the week and flew out to South Africa where she met with the parents. Like I said, she has suspended two school matrons and the school principal during the investigation to try and figure out what exactly is going on at that place. You know, as much as I'm not a fan of Oprah, I feel bad for Oprah. You know, I don't think you're thousands of miles away. You're trying to do something wonderful for a community. And there's a couple of jerks that are doing something terrible. Yeah. You know, how do you know what's going on there? You try the best you can. You have a noble cause. Yeah. They said Oprah was very, you know, she was crying when she was talking to these parents because, you know, Oprah herself was a abuse victim as a child. So for her to open a safe place for girls and then have them abused is just, you know, can you imagine, you know, you do something really great and people are taking advantage of it and doing terrible things. And, you know, it must feel awful. I actually feel bad for Oprah in that situation. That's too bad.
Okay. Sky's got new releases today. What up? Well, here's the deal. Here we go. What's the deal? Is Manhunt 2 one of the video games? Yeah. Because that's in the news today. Okay. So you want to talk about that maybe first when we do video games? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's talk about Manhunt 2. Let's talk about the story before we get into it. Okie doke. So Manhunt 2 is a video game. Does anyone here on the show, Sean, Eddie, Boston, Rob, Zeth. Do you guys know what Manhunt is and know about the game? Has anybody ever played it here? I've never played it. No. Zeth has. Yeah. So what is the idea behind Manhunt? If I remember right, you're a prison escapee, I think. And basically what you have to do is kill a number of people in some pretty sick methods. I know one of them was you had to put a plastic bag over somebody's head and suffocate it. That's right. I remember that made big news. The plastic bag thing. I remember was a pretty big deal. The premise is that you've escaped from prison and you're just trying to go under the radar and you've got to do what you've got to do to be out of prison, right? Right. Well, this has got some child advocates pretty upset.
Yeah, so Manhunt 2, which is coming out today, is rated mature, which means it's for people 17 and up. But back in June, when it was first rated, it was given an adults-only rating, which meant it couldn't be sold in big stores like Walmart and stuff like that. But they went back and modified it a little bit. Modified the game? Modified the game, changed it a little bit to get this mature rating. So they can be sold at Walmart and other big stores, you know, like that. parents not to buy this game for their children say that, like we said, the game features a character, it says here, who kills and torture using implements ranging from glass and shovels to fuse boxes and toilets. Yeah. Now, here's the deal. I am of the belief that video games, music, television, all of it contributes to kids being whack jobs. I am a firm believer of that. And I will tell you that I'm a firm believer of it. And I've been a firm believer of this. For many years, I've probably had this opinion for 10 years, and this is when I was doing crazy radio, like crazy, dirty, filthy kind of radio at nighttime here in San Diego that you couldn't imagine. I mean, just real dirty stuff. And I said then, hey, listen, I realize that this may have an effect on kids, but it's the parent's job to govern what their kids are listening to, blah, blah, blah.
that in America we have a lot of rights. And it's the right of these people to make this game. There's no doubt about it. They've got a right to make the game, to sell the game, and to make a profit from the game. I also believe that the game is terrible. It's awful. It's sick. It's disturbing. It's the wrong thing for kids to consume. And they're going to consume it. And I think that there's going to be some we. As a society, we pay the price. Kids are going to look at some really disgusting, awful stuff and it changes. This stuff wasn't available when I was a kid. And some of the kind of stuff that we're seeing now didn't exist when I was a kid. It exists now because we're desensitized to it. But they have every right to make it and they have every right to sell it. Man, I'm going to do my absolute best to keep it out of the hands of my kid. That's all the best you could do. If you don't like it, just keep it out of the hands of your kid. What do you think, Eddie? I have the...
what they're describing it on the actual website of Manhunt 2. It is described as an experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel Lamb and Leo Casper are the only surviving subjects. The Pikmin project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out. Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are and how you got there. The door to your cell is open. One choice, one chance. They took your life. Time to take it back. Now, you go on a rampage, sticking plastic bags over people's heads and stuff like this. Listen. I'm 37 years old. I'm not old enough for this game. You know what I mean? And I can tell you quite candidly and honestly that if I play that game, and especially if I play that game over a period of time, me, Mikey, I will be affected by it. Am I going to go stick in plastic bags over people's heads? Maybe not. But it's going to have an effect on me. Like, what am I?
If you drink coffee, it's got an effect on you. If you eat a hot dog, it has an effect on you. And that's a man in his 30s saying that, not a kid who's going through hormones and trying to figure out life. Well, when you're immature, stuff is... You're so impressionable. Stuff is different for you anyway, man. You do stuff you would never do at 37 years old just because you're kind of... Totally. Now, Eddie just sent me a link to the website for Manhunt, too. Send me the link. You have to put your age in just to view the website. Yeah. What does that tell you? Right. I mean, what does that tell you? It's pretty crazy. Now, listen, I don't want anybody thinking, oh, Mikey, you're trying to make it so that they can't make this video game. No, no, no. Everybody's got a right to do what they want in America. That's what makes America great, you know? You don't have to believe like me. I'm just telling you how I believe. You don't have to, you can play this video game, man. It's your choice. I'm just saying that me, I personally think that it's, oh man, I'm looking at pictures of it. That's gnarly. How do you not have a, how do you consume that you don't get something from consuming it? Right. You know what I mean? So parents just need to be aware what their kids are doing, what they're playing with. Just because it's a video game doesn't mean it's meant for kids, parents. I know what I would say as a kid too. I'd be like, mom, you're so weird.
I'm not going to go kill people because I watch this. Okay. This is what I'm going to say to you. When you're a kid, you're especially a boy. This is different for girls because boys have that. We got that fight or flight thing that chicks don't have. We have the the we have that extra level of testosterone that makes us a little wackier in terms of violence. We have a trigger. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we do. And so. Let's take guns and all that stuff out of the equation. When you're playing these video games, you may see something on the video game in terms of this violent act that you've never seen before. And you're like, ooh, that's pretty cool. And maybe it doesn't involve a knife or maybe it doesn't involve a gun. But the next time you're in a situation where you're a little peeved and you're already 16 years old and kind of like you got a hair trigger, you can't tell me that those games are not going to be – they're part of your life, bro.
You play them every day. How are you telling me that that's not going to be a part of your deal? So anyway, that's a big deal right now that Manhattan 2, you're going to see it all over the news. Sean has the trailer for it. I don't know if you want to. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sean, let me hear it. No, that's not creepy. Come a long way from Pong. Sounds like fun. It's almost identical to Frogger. Yeah, very similar. Ashley. Well, can I ask this? Yeah. How is that different from a teenager scene like Saw? It's not. It's not. In fact, I was talking about the movie Death Proof. In fact, somebody wanted to ask me about that. P1 Kenny, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. Go ahead. Yeah, I don't see how you can say this game is worse than Death Proof or Planet Terror, and you guys have been hyping that movie up all week. Hang on a second. I haven't said that it's worse than Death Proof or Planet Terror. But you said it would affect you. Did Death Proof and Planet Terror affect you? You got it 100% yes.
A hundred percent. It did. I'm telling you, it did. Skye, go ahead. Well, and I believe that both are unhealthy for a young mind, but in my opinion, video games are worse because with video games, it's a repetitive action. And you're putting yourself in the game. That's what it is. You're in there, and then you're doing it repetitively every day. You're pretending you're that person. When you go see Saw, I don't think you're pretending to be Jigsaw or whatever. And that is a psychological thing. Yeah. But listen, I'll agree with you. that I believe that there's really not a difference between, and I saw Death Proof, not Planet Terror. I heard Planet Terror is a turd. But, yeah, you know, it did have an effect on me. And I'll just be really honest with you. The reason that I saw Death Proof is because of Quentin Tarantino, and I'm a big fan, and I loved it. So if Quentin Tarantino directed this video game, you'd be on board? No, I would not. No? I would not.
That's a bit hypocritical. No, no, no. I'm just telling you, I wouldn't be on board with it, and it's for the reasons that Sky said. But something else, too. I want to point this out, too. I would never, ever, ever in a million years allow my son to consume death proof. I would not do that. Even as an adult? When he's an adult, he can do whatever he wants. When he's an adult, he does whatever he wants. Just like I was 37, and my brother was visiting from out of town, and he had it, and I was like, oh, is that Tarantino? Let's watch it. So, you know, that's a decision that I'm making at 37 years old. If I'm making the decision for my kid, no way, bro. No way. But, you know, they did put an adult or, you know, an NC-17 rating on it. And I don't see how anybody can get upset. Well, the weird thing is with that video game is that Sky says you can get it and be 17 years old, you can get it. Yeah, 17 and up. It has a mature rating. But what the child advocates are warning is lots of people think just because it's a video game, just because it's sold in a game store, that means it's meant for kids. And it's not. So parents, you really need to pay attention to what you're purchasing. You know, as men, we're pretty much morons until we're 30. Like, we don't have it figured out, man. I mean, up until you're, you got to get to be an older guy.
And you are right about the desensitization and stuff. I mean, I'm like a horror buff and it doesn't affect me at all. See, dude, I'm on board with you. I'm on board with you. When you make the point about Death Proof, I think you're right, man. I mean, I don't think they're much different in my opinion. Eddie thinks that they're pretty different in terms of like one's a game and you're in there and you're being that person as opposed to seeing it. But, you know, I don't remember who... You're playing a character. You know, you're not playing yourself. You're not playing Eddie or Mikey. But you control the characters. Yeah, you're actively having the character commit murder. Do your actions. Yeah, you know, which is... And not only that, you're rewarded for it. You know what I mean? But specifically, I remember when we were talking about Death Proof, I don't remember who it was that made the comment on the show, isn't anybody worried about, like, Copycat? I said that. Eddie said that. And he's right, man. Like, I'm surprised there hasn't been. So, anyway. All right, man. Thank you for the call. Appreciate it. I appreciate it, man. Let's see. Let's take a couple more calls. P1 Danny, are you there? Yeah, right here. Go ahead. Nothing. I just, you guys kind of made my point, kind of saying that there is, you know, desensitizes and that kind of thing. But I've had the game Manhunt, the first one, since it's come out.
I'll play it, but play it to this day because I just love that kind of game. That's my kind of game, but I know that I would never go do this in real life, you know? It just, it comes down to all your personal decisions and, like Sky said, with parents having to be more involved in what their kids, you know, do and play. I think it has a more subtle effect on us than we realize. Oh, yeah. I believe that it has a more subtle effect on us than we realize. I don't even know how to go into that further. I just really believe that. P1 Rude Dog. Hey, what's up, Mikey? What's up? Hey, I just wanted to say is, you know, can you blame the video game makers for making whatever games they make? Or can you blame places like Target and Walmart that will sell those games and knowing that they probably went back and re-edited them to make them just a little bit lesser on the rating so that they could sell them? Dude, I don't blame either. You know, I don't blame either. I don't blame the people that make the game because they're a business. They're choosing to do it, and it's America. They have a right to do it. I don't blame Walmart because Walmart's a business, and they have a right to carry merchandise and sell merchandise and make a profit. In fact, I don't really blame anybody. All I can say is how I personally feel about it and what I will do with what I know. I know what the game is, and I know I won't purchase it.
And the reason that I won't is because if I do and I check it out, I think that will have a subtle effect on my psyche. And I'm weird enough. And I don't want my kids seeing it either. Do you think video games would have more effect on people in general than... movies that we watch nowadays? Not much, really. I don't really think that there's much of a difference. I think that they're more similar than they are different. Dude, I can't go see the Saw movies and I can't go see those movies because they give me bad dreams now. They give me bad dreams. I am affected by them too much. I can't read books I used to read. I can't see movies I used to see. The only kind of scary movies I can see are science fiction because I believe that space aliens don't exist. Oh, how wrong you are. Totally wrong. Thank you very much. Some people do believe that space aliens exist, and so it scares them more to see those movies than other stuff. We still have huge stuff coming up for you. What's Rock Jukebox? Eddie, what does a prize say? What do we have to give away? We got Joe Rogan tickets. Holy cow. Wow. So do you want, are you a guy that can sing very effeminately? Give us a call. We're hoping he'll slip into...
Mikey. Guy like me likes toys. Eddie. If you don't know the lyrics to Hall & Oates, I don't want to know you. Sky. I'm not going to be your yes man, Mike. Sean. I always stand when I watch TV at night. Boss and Rob. This is how the brain of a genius works. I'm just piling on all silly right now. Not really. No. Opposite. And Ashley. I like my sweat and I don't want to use special deodorant. On Rock 105.3. Welcome back. It is 9-15. Gwen Stefani announced yesterday that she will donate all of her proceeds from her show tonight at Cox Arena to help the fire victims. You've got to love that Brett Favre. I tell you what, he is awesome on Monday Night Football. He threw an 82-yard touchdown in overtime to beat Denver 19-13. Welcome back. We've got Miles coming in here and Jimmy Fierro from the San Diego Fire Department. He's going to tell us about how we can be helping out.
Some other things that the Rock Church is going to do to help people out. It's really amazing what they did over the course of the last week. So we'll talk about that coming up. 50 Cent was asked about what he thinks of Hillary Clinton. He was on Fox News and he said this. Cut 11. On politics, you had said not too long ago that you liked Hillary Clinton. If for no other reason, then it's a chance to get Bill Clinton back in the white as you're a big Bill Clinton fan. And we just talked to an outfit that accurately predicts elections and says that's going to be what happens. How will things change if you get a President Hillary Clinton? Well, I think she had to be very well aware of the decisions that her husband was making. while he was actually the president. And she shares his views. I think we were in a pretty good space when Bill was actually the president. So if I understand you correctly, 50. 50. 50. No. Are you saying that while Bill was president and fooling around, she was aware of it, and if she was cool with that, that's the kind of woman I want to be president. Right. Huh. Hmm.
It's weird. That's opposite of what I was thinking. What did you think he was saying? Well, no. I mean, I just have the opposite thoughts of Fiddy. Oh, oh, oh. Like, I don't know if I want a woman to run the country if she, you know, lets her man cheat on her. How do you know she let him? Well, she didn't leave him. That doesn't mean that she didn't let him. She didn't want him to cheat on her. Okay, maybe a bad choice of words. She didn't leave him. She didn't set a good example for her daughter. She didn't set a good example, in my opinion, for women everywhere. Maybe the example was is that if you're a family and you take vows to marriage, you stick by them. You work things out as a family unit instead of doing what America does so easily, break up the family. You say no. No, I don't. I mean, you know, I think he was the one who broke up the family. And we've had this discussion before because in my mind, I believe Bill Clinton is like a repeat offender. You know, I don't believe this is the first or the last time. You don't know what I've done. Well, Bill, I mean, to be honest, I believe your marriage is a sham. I think it's kind of rough for you to sit there and tell me what I've done or what I haven't done. Well, see, I don't know, Bill. In Cincinnati in 87. What? What happened in Cincinnati in 87? I'm not saying anything happened there. I'm saying that hypothetically, if something did, it'd be wrong of you to point it out.
Well, hypothetically, what could have happened in Cincinnati in 1987? Hypothetically, I could have had a white Russian or two. The drink or a person? That was two gals. One of them was Slotnovia. Slotnovia. Uh-oh. Heard they have beautiful women there, Bill. Slotnovia. Okay, so Skye, wrap up those new releases. What else is out today besides Manhunt 2? Okay, cool. We'll try and be quick. We got quite a bit of stuff today. So Manhunt 2 for the Wii, PS2, PSP. I'm always cool, Sean. Guitar Hero 3, Legends of the Rock. Yeah, it's a biggie for Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and the PS3. We have the Simpsons game out today. Wait a minute, it's out for the PS3 too? The Guitar Heroes? Yeah. Well, according to my list, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, and the PS3. Wii! What did I say? The Simpsons game for Xbox 360, PS2, Wii, PS3. Virtua Fighter 5 for Xbox 360. What is that, Sean? It's like a martial arts game. Sweet. Yeah, it's really good. Battalion Wars 2 for the Wii. Naruto.
Rise of Ninja for Xbox 360. Oh, shit. Thank you. And then Time Shift for the Xbox 360. Okay, new music out today. Oh, boy. Don't waste our time. Britney's new album came out today. It is called Blackout. All right. Nice. Now, let me play a track from Britney's new album. Yeah. Pick a good one. A good one. A good track. A good one, Mike. Britney, bitch. That sounded very genuine. Yeah. Yeah. Why did she do that? Right. Also out today, we have the Backstreet Boys with Unbreakable. Oh, fine. Stop it. Stop. It's been since September of 2002 since they put out our last one, so I'm really... Are we in 1998? Right. Backstreet Boys? Yep. Are they still together? No.
Yeah, they got back together, and this is their new album, and they're going to make a comeback, everybody. Really? Oh, that is terrible. Yeah. I thought we were all excited about it. Thank you so much. What's their biggest hit? I don't know if there is a hit off of this. I don't know. I have the track listing. You mean just in general? Yeah. Oh. Read us what you got. Yeah. That was a big one. I won it that way. That was the big one. That was the really good one. You're not into the Backstreet Boys slow jam? Hey, now this song, this is a good one. Do you remember this song? I think this is a great song. Oh, Bill. Thank you. A friend of mine.
once made me a CD with a lot of music from people that I don't necessarily know, and this was on it. What is that supposed to mean? I'm just saying that I didn't know the music myself, but I had a friend, and she knew, he knew. What? Wait, hold on. First you said she. That was a Freudian slip. Oh. Sing it, Bill. Oh, you sure know this. Oh. Oh, let me show you the shape of my heart. That makes me cry now when I hear it. Still miss you, Monica. Hey, bro. I almost cried. What else is out today? Out today we have the debut from Pussifer, which is called VS4 Vagina. That is out today. What is the matter with you? Is that real?
Yeah, that's Maynard from Tool in a Perfect Circle. It's his new side project, and it's out today. And it's called... Is she serious? I guess so. Do you want to look at it? Well, you know that that is like a play-up on the word Lucifer, which is Satan. It is? He's weird, man. I would think with the title of the album, it was... He's most weirder, him or Sky, for thinking that's appropriate. Really? Yeah. Really? Yeah. Do you know that we're on Rock 105.3? I do know that. Do you know we're on the Mikey show? Yeah. Okay. Well, she's really into, I guess she's really into like all things Maynard and Tool. Well, our audience. Retarded. The Rock 105.3 audience. Do you think that like most of our audience knew that band? Yeah, totally. We're all dying for the new Pussifer album. What's the name of the record again? VS4 Vagina. Okay, cool. All right. Makes a lot of sense. Totally appropriate. I think, yeah, dual fans have definitely been waiting for this. You're going to rush out and buy that one? V is for vagina? Well, I'm definitely going to listen to it, yeah. Okay, anyway, the new Avenged Sevenfold out today. That one's subtitled. The Eagles, Long Road Out of Eden out today. This is a new Eagles record? Yeah, 20 songs, two discs, but it's only being sold at Walmart, Sam's Club, and their website.
So if you want to get that, that's why. Yeah. That's the deal that they're doing. Because they can't outsell Pussifer. I mean, nobody's going to want to try. Right? So they're just sticking to what they can do. And then finally out today, we have OTAP with the Ascension. Wow. Well, that was certainly eventful. Yep. New DVD. Eventful, yeah. Yes, eventful. Every week, it's amazing how eventful this is. Eventful. Was it Brittany that put it over the top? And we ask her every week. Please be cool. I was cool. I was very cool to the Rock 105.3 listeners. We'll beg next time. Go ahead. What's out on DVD today? We'll talk. Okay, yeah, we will. We will. No, we will. No, we're going to talk with our mouths. Oh, no. New on DVD today, we have Spider-Man 3. That comes in the single disc, the two disc DVD, and then they also have a Spider-Man trilogy out today that has all three movies. Eddie, I can't remember what you said about it. It was the worst out of the three. I don't want the worst out of the three. You don't? No. License to Wed out today.
What is that? That was the Robin Williams, John Krasinski. Garbage. Awful. Talk to me out today. Anybody? What is that? Don Cheadle plays a former prison inmate who becomes an outspoken radio personality and activist. I don't think anybody went to see that. Also out today, we got the J-Lo El Cantante out today. Got that one right this time. Last time I said El Caliente. Habla Espanol. So that's out today. And then TV shows to DVD. We have Twin Peaks, the gold box edition. Yeah, Twin Peaks. My So-Called Life, the complete series. Family Guy, the freaking party pack, the complete DVD collection. CSI Miami, the fifth season. Scrubs, season six. Magnum P.I., season seven. And then Angel, the complete series collector set. I just saw a movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman. That looks so good. Eddie, have you heard about a new movie with Philip Seymour Hoffman? And Ethan Hawke? And Ethan Hawke. Yeah, I've heard about it. What do you think? The concept sounds cool. The concept sounds rad. They're two brothers, and the movie is called... I just had it. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. And I don't know if it's like an indie movie thing, or if they're showing it...
But the idea is that Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman are brothers. And they both are kind of like down on their luck a little bit, but they're smart. And Philip Seymour Hoffman convinces his younger brother, Ethan Hawke, to rob a jewelry store with him. And it goes bad. Their family's jewelry store. And it doesn't work out. Not so much. Yeah. It looks great. Anyway, okay, Jimmy Fierro, Miles McPherson, they're next. You are listening to The Mikey Show. Show with Mikey. I'm such a foodie and a food snob, but I love that Olive Garden. Eddie. We think vibes are funny, so the kids should die. Yeah. Sky. I'm coming up on being married six years. Sean. I like black. Bosch and Rob. What? I like to take my time and do things right. You sure do. Rob and Ashley. Sometimes things make sense in my head, but not to anybody else. On Rockwell. My son will be making an appearance as Yoda tomorrow. Yes. So excited. The force is with him. He's got two costumes. He's got Yoda and he's got Superman. Gotta go with Yoda. He is the baby. He is the baby.
Welcome back to the show. It is 9.35. Ryan Seacrest says he saw Britney Spears giving Dallas quarterback Tony Romo a lap dance on Friday night. Maybe it was to celebrate Tony Romo's new extension he got with the Cowboys. It's for six years, $67.5 million. Coming into the studio right now is Jimmy Fierro. And Miles, I believe, is on his way. So we'll be talking to Miles in just a little bit. Jimmy, first of all, before anything... I want to say thank you for everything you've done. I want to have you come right up to the microphone there, and I want to say thank you for everything you've done. Tell everybody what your title is with the fire department. I'm a battalion chief with San Diego City Fire. Okay. And as the battalion chief, what does that mean? What are you in charge of as battalion chief? On a day-to-day basis, I'm responsible for a geographical portion of the city.
I oversee seven stations, 44 personnel, and about 22 pieces of fire equipment. Oh, wow. Okay, so when the fires began on Sunday... Hey, Miles is here. What up? Miles in the house. Have a seat, man. Jimmy's just starting to tell a story. So, Jimmy, tell me what happened on Sunday when the fires began. How did you become aware of them? Well, I got a phone call at home saying that I needed to report in. And we'd had updates on the weather. I knew what was going on. I anticipated the phone call. That was the notification, headed in, and started getting myself prepared because we knew a firestorm was coming. How did you know that a firestorm was coming? Well, actually, the predictions were on target. The predictions were on target. You look at a computer model. which takes into account the weather, the wind, the fuel moisture, the topography of the area, and we had a fire start. So with that fire start, you can take a look and you can predict where the fire is going to go and how fast it's going to go. Really? Yeah. Okay, so you knew that you were probably going to be in for a long day? I knew I was going to be in for a long few days. We had exceptionally strong winds starting out that day for San Diego County.
especially down through the city areas. We're not used to 60-mile-an-hour winds, and they came in that night. So going in, are you feeling much more like adrenaline and heart beating a little faster than you normally would? No, go in pretty calm. Go in calm, keep your head together, thinking. There's a lot of thought process going on, a lot of strategy, a lot of tactics. So, Jimmy, how was this fire different from... your average fire besides the wind? I mean, or is that really the only big difference? Well, no, we've had, as you all know, you know, drought conditions. We've had, and in that it makes the brush tremendously dry. This year, the brush is the driest it's been in 90 years. Wow. Is that right? So, you've got real volatile fuel. Oh, wow. We had... A tremendous amount of heat. We had unusually strong winds for San Diego County and San Diego City. So there's a combination that dealt us, you know, that dealt us a tremendous firestorm. Most of us will never know what it's like to be battling a fire head-on in the fire point. Okay. And so if you can, walk me through.
what the experience of standing in the mouth of it is like? Well, it's quite an experience. And for most people, I think they've all been in the kitchen at their house, open up the oven door, and they get a blast of heat. And it's a lot, lot hotter, maybe twice that hot. And with 60-mile-an-hour winds... What are we talking about temperature-wise? You know, you're probably talking, you know, I don't know, 500, 600 degrees. You know, it's hot. Wow. It's hot. That sounds hot. 5 to 600 degrees. You know, it's extremely hot. You know, and everything around you is burning, and you're trying to keep the structures from burning. So what happens is you've got that fire front. You've got that wall of fire that comes up, and we try to meet within a manageable space. But it's 60-mile-an-hour winds. You know, it's picked up everything. You've got ash and things that are six inches long. They're hot, red ash flying. It's picked up sand. It's picked up.
Everything and anything. Yeah, it's all coming on. Yeah, exactly. It's all coming on. What about structural things? Because I would have to think there's other stuff flying through the air. Is there pieces of house, things like that, that are flying at you? Yeah, there is. It'll be throwing patio furniture. It'll be throwing tile. The big ones, the tile coming off the roofs. It loosens the tile. They slide down. So you have to make sure you're not getting it by tile. It'll uproot trees. You have to watch out for even limbs of big trees that are coming down. Oh, man. Yeah, it's serious dodgeball. So my question is, if it is getting up to 500, 600 degrees, we all know that if we stick something in our oven at 500 degrees, it'll cook in 5, 10 minutes. How do you guys, I mean, tell me about the stuff that you're wearing that allows you to be in temperatures of that strength and not cook. Well, we have layers of Nomex on, which is a fire retardant material. And we have on the same type of material, we have hoods on. So we've got virtually every square inch covered. Obviously, you have to have goggles on while set in place. And we have another device that's fairly new. It's called a heat shield. And it's a customized, made out of Nomex shield that goes over your nose and over your mouth, under your hood, that secures in so that you're able to...
to sustain, you know, sustain that type of temperature and to sustain, what do I say, the smoky, dirty air. There's a lot in the air. There's a lot of particles in the air. You know, you shine your light into that and you can see, you can literally see how dirty the air is. So you guys are not wearing, constantly while you're out there, not wearing oxygen masks and stuff like that? Not in these vegetation, wildland, fire situations. You used a hot shield. If you're wearing our standard breathing apparatus, it's real heavy, bulky, hard to get around with. There's times when we've got to make real quick moves into safety zones, maybe inside of a house, maybe inside our rig, that type of thing. So traditionally, no, we don't. We use a hot shield. What about, there's only so many firefighters, and I would guess that with fires this magnitude, You're all called out there. You're all working. There's nobody that's allowed to stay back at the firehouse and cook dinner. Everybody's out there. Everybody's working. How do you find time to literally rest and refuel your body? Because without sleep, we're almost useless. So how do you do it? How did you sleep? Well, you really don't for that first 48 hours or so, maybe even a little bit longer.
You're just moving and grooving. For 48 straight hours, you guys are just on the move. Kind of an adrenaline thing, maybe? Yeah, there's definitely some adrenaline there. You reach down deep. You pull out what you have to pull out. You're so busy working that you're not really thinking so much about the sleep at that point. You take care of one neighborhood, and you move to another, and as you move to the other one, you're getting set up. You're getting right back into the battle again. There's just no time. When you're in the middle of a fire, I kind of thought this watching TV and watching the firefighters. When you arrive to... to a house, didn't I hear something on the news where you have up until the house is 30% burned and then you have to move on? I'd heard something like that. Yeah, I said that. I read something about the 30% rule. If a house is more than 30% engulfed, you won't try and save it and you'll move on to a home that you can save that's less than 30%. Is that true? Which makes sense if it is because otherwise you're going to stay there, spend too much time when you could be saving a house that, you know.
could potentially be saved. Right. If a house is 30% involved in this type of firestorm, we're not going to stop it. There are houses that are more defendable than other houses. And we take a look at that defense and we look at how much is burning it when we arrive and where the fire is burning and where it looks like it's going as far as the structure is concerned, the structures around it, what's the wind doing at that time, which way is it blowing. And so we quickly... calculate risk versus gain, and make a stand where we can. I know that this is going to seem like a silly question, and it's a question coming from somebody that could never do what you do for a living, so it may seem silly to you. But when you're in that, are you ever scared? Well, I would say we have a large degree of respect. We have respect for fire, for what fire can do, where it goes. You don't run around inside of a bunch of fear. I would. I couldn't do it. I'd be too afraid. That's why I'm not a firefighter. I would get near a house and I'd be like, well, that's on fire. I can't go near that. I mean, please. I'd be a firefighter going, we've got to call the fire department.
There's that old antage that a lot of people use. They say, hey, we're running out and you're running in. What's wrong with you? It's what we do. And is there fear in there? There's fear in there from time to time. But certainly it's not overwhelming or you wouldn't be doing what we do, right? So, no, there's a tremendous amount of respect and you learn how fire operates and go to work. Sky. Jimmy, I was reading this morning that they're bringing in fire crews from other parts of the country right now to give you guys from the state and also local here arrests because they're expecting more Santa Anas this weekend. Is there anything that we can do to help as homeowners and people in the community that maybe hasn't been mentioned? Is there anything in regards to this weekend that you can share with us in the Santa Anas coming up? Well, I'll tell you, what people can do is get a hold of either their local fire station or whichever fire department serves their community and find out what they can do to create defensible space around their home, what they can do to prep their home in that defensible term again. That's the term that we use. They might get in there quickly this week and cut down some brush.
get some wood piles moved away from their house. They may get some rubbish and trash that's been building up and get rid of it. There's a lot of things that you can do. And you want me to give you a quick example? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. There was one house that we had gone back to to check on a neighborhood, and they had their firewood stacked up right against their house. Oh, man. That's a no-no. And we saw a little bit of smoke. And we were able to get in there, unpile the wood, put that little fire out. If we hadn't seen that, they would have lost their house because there was a window right above the pile of firewood and also a vent into the attic. And it was beginning to make its way into those two areas. Oh, my gosh. So you see, it's simple. I got a question for you. We got evacuated, and the first thought that came to my mind was, okay, before we leave, maybe I should spray the house down with water with my garden hose. Is that ridiculous? Yes. Really? It's just not going to do anything, right? Well, yeah, there's a thing called evaporation, Mikey. And it's going to happen too fast for it to make a difference, right? Well, absolutely. You know, let's go back to the oven thing. I mean, my wife does all the cooking, thank God. But she preheats that oven.
And when you've got low humidity, you've got high winds, you've got a fire front coming, there's heat that precedes all that, evacuation. Evaporation. Thank you. Evaporation takes place. It's just not going to be effective. That's good to know. And people listening should know that because we may have spent time spraying down our house. Yeah, or risking your life to spray down your roof. It's not the smartest idea, I guess. It's just not going to do anything. No, the best thing you can do is be in touch with the weather, with the fire front, what's going on in your neighborhood, and be pre-packed and ready to go. If there's things that you want to take out, have them ready at this point. And I'm here to tell you, you need to evacuate. Are we out of the woods yet? No, we're not out of the woods yet. We've got fairly...
Fairly good control over most of the fires. They're somewhere around 65% contained at this point, just generally speaking. But we've got probably the Santa Ana coming in, you know, this upcoming weekend. I think Thursday, Friday, Saturday, somewhere in there. The term that I'm hearing is that hopefully it'll be a mild Santa Ana. Yeah, that's what I was reading this morning. Sustained winds around 15 miles per hour. And then in the mountain canyon areas, you can maybe get 50 mile per hour gusts. the more normal will be the 15 mile per hour. Everybody knows the words Santa Ana are very scary around here. Jimmy, describe what the Santa Ana winds are. Well, the Santa Ana winds very simply come off the desert. It's when a high pressure settles in over the desert, and that high pressure drives the hot, dry wind out of the desert and over to the coast. And when those winds come over the mountains and the passes, It gets the winds funneled. You know how it is. When you push wind through a narrower area, it just accelerates through that narrow area. And you have to be geographically wise to be able to look at a mountain and look at a mountain pass and say, well, this is about four, five, six miles across. Well, that's an area that's going to get funneled through. Now, this is a question that I've had.
and I've wanted to ask a firefighter for a long time, so I'm really glad that I have you here to be able to ask you this. What do you think the future will hold for what you do? Will there ever be a time where we'll be able to deal with fire any better than we do now? Are you talking like robot firefighters? Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. But like honestly, like I thought to myself, you know, with the way that technology is, I wonder if one day we'll have a way to seed clouds or to, you know, I had this crazy thought that we might be able to invent some kind of thing that would starve a fire of air or oxygen. I don't know. I don't know anything about that industry. Is there a direction that it's going that will help? Because as I was watching these firefighters fight these fires, I thought to myself, this isn't much different than they fought fires when I was a kid. It seems like you guys are just out there doing the hard work with a hose trying to put fires out. Do you see it going anywhere where it may be more effective? Well, that's a great question, and I don't have a real good answer for you.
a deputy chief from CAL FIRE named Bill Clayton. And he's been working with some PhDs and that brain level on a fire organization and the character of fire and, you know, with the weather, everything that goes with it, and what they can do to improve our operation. I don't think you'll never take the human element out of it, you know. And I don't know that you can change the weather. You know, the way that some people think you may be able to. So as far as dealing with it on the front, in the middle of it, you know, when it's go time, you know, there's some basics that we need to stick to. We've used technology to help us tremendously. You know, CAL FIRE's got these computer models that I was talking about. They can actually measure the moisture of the fuel. predict when the fire's going to hit, where's it going to hit. So technology's helped us tremendously that way, with little computers in our cars and that type of thing. But...
It's the same thing that sports deals with. They have all the facts and figures and so forth and so on. Guys are still going to break their arms. Guys are still going to get hurt. I get what you're saying. Hey, Miles is here, and Jimmy, I want you to hang out with us too. Miles is here. Jimmy, you go to the Rock Church, so you know Miles pretty good. Miles McPherson is the senior pastor at the Rock Church. Miles, the Rock really played a pretty pivotal role. in these uh fires in terms of evacuation and distribution yeah we um tuesday morning we decided to be a evacuation center and we had no idea what that really meant we didn't have any cots food blankets nothing and but we just knew we had to do something so 8 30 we said we're gonna we're gonna do this we had a staff meeting at nine o'clock told the staff and they were like what does that mean and we said we don't know but let's figure out a plan and 9 18 or so we uh sent out a press release to the media that we were open for business at 10 o'clock, which was 40 minutes later. And people started showing up with blankets and food. And we collected so much stuff that we probably could fill a Costco. And we had 800 volunteers that day. And by the end of the day, we had 12 evacuees. So we had 12 people surrounded by 800 people with blankets and food. Holy moly. And so by the...
So that night we said, you know what, we started getting calls in from churches in places like Ramona and Petreo and Indian Reservations and other places around San Diego, San Diego High School, that had a bunch of elderly people there asking for relief. So we became a distribution center and started sending this stuff out, convoys of trucks. Wow. You know, one lady in Petreo called us and the convoy showed up at 12.45 a.m., went through all the police barricades and 60 families out there, got some stuff. Ramona, same thing. like 10 convoys out to Ramona to a church that got food and clothes out to all the people out there. And so that was going on. But by Tuesday night, we got certified by the emergency OES, Office of Emergency Services, that we were certified evacuation center. And then all the people started coming. And we got 344 people that stayed at our church and 118 of more elderly people from a convalescent home. And that was, those are my BFFs now. They were so... So amazing. And we had them and we had a group of kids from a group home and then a bunch of other people. But we had a whole gamut. And it was just a blessing to love on these people. And most of the people that were volunteering, we had over 2,000 for the week. Most of them were in their 20s and teenagers. And so you have all these people, the elderly people between 67 and 97 years old. 97? 97. And still kicking. You had teenagers.
taking care of them, carrying their bags, getting their food, making their beds for them. And it was a blessing. I mean, we had a video of it on church Sunday. I was bawling and crying. Actually, I bawled and cried when I saw it in the studio before they showed that church. Then I cried at church five times. It's okay to cry. I was at the first one. No shame in crying. I was at the 8 a.m. And I remember you saying, how am I going to do this five times? And I said to Rebecca later in the day, I said, I don't know how he's doing it, man. I don't know how he's watching that video. five different times. It's so emotional and so moving, those elderly folks getting help and smiling and being so happy that there was a place to be able to take them. But then just also, I know you, and I know that you won't say it for yourself, but you did something pretty amazing, Miles, because you... You didn't have to do a lot of the steps that you took to be able to help the people that you did. You took some steps that came from you. And I was saying that to Rebecca. You were evacuated. You were personally evacuated. And I know that when we were evacuated, the last thing on our mind was helping others. At the time when we were evacuated, all we could think about was, did we get this? Did we get this? So what about Jake? What about this?
And in the midst of all of that, you were putting together one of the biggest evacuation centers here in San Diego. And I know you've probably heard thank you a lot, but it's an amazing thing what you did. It really is an amazing thing what you did. Well, I'm going to tell you, I was asked by a couple of people, why are you doing this? Because you've got this brand new building and all this stuff. I said, well, we didn't build it to be an evacuation center, but we also built it for whatever God wanted to use it for, because it's not ours. It was, without question, the most fulfilling week I've ever had ministry. I've seen a lot of great things happen. God has done a lot of amazing things. But what was so amazing about it was to see people love other people. And I got to walk around. Matter of fact, I walked in this classroom. I was taking Tony Atkins, one of our councilwomen, around. And we walked in this classroom, and a 16-year-old girl was organizing the relief to go out. So she would get a call from the third floor of the church on her radio. She was 16. The story gets incredible. She's 16 years old. I walk in, and I wave at her, and she just kind of looks away. They don't even wave. She's talking on the radio, and someone's telling her we need, you know, eight boxes of this and five, whatever they're telling her to send out. And so I walk by her, and Tony Atkins is with me, and we kind of looked at each other like, wow, that was kind of, you know, weird. So we walk back past her again, and she doesn't wave. She just looks at us like, oh, and she keeps going about her business.
So I leave and I come back like five hours later. That girl was there from morning till 11 o'clock at night. And I go down there like five o'clock and I go, who are you? I was really wanting to meet her because I was so blessed that she was on her job. I didn't care about her blowing me off. I was like, this girl is on it. So I said, how old are you? She said, I'm 16. And I said, where do you go to church? Because a lot of people who were there didn't go to the rock. So I wasn't assuming. She said, I don't go to church. She didn't know who I was. She's like, I don't know who you are. And I said, what were you thinking? When you saw me, she said, well, you know, I got stuff to do. And I see this guy walking here. He's not doing anything. I don't have any time for him. I got to get this order out. I love it. And so we had her up on stage Sunday. I had to tell the whole church that story because she was so amazing. And her first day at church was Sunday on the stage telling this story with a Bible we gave her. So it was a blessing. That's awesome, man. Well, don't go anywhere. Let's do this. I want to take a quick time out. And then when we come back, I want you to tell us about.
what more, how people can help because there's still ways for people to help and you've got a way and we're going to tell people and we'll come back. We'll do more with Miles McPherson. Hang on. Let it go. Let it rub your shoulder. Don't you know? Legal identification is K-I-O-Z San Diego, otherwise known as KIAZ. Hit it. KIAZ! Welcome back. We have a senior pastor of my church, the Rock Church, Miles McPherson in the studio, and brigade chief or brigade captain.
Battalion Chief. Battalion. Battalion Chief Jimmy Fierro is in here. And, Jimmy, we have a person that wants to ask you about propane tanks at their house and stuff like that. So we'll do that in just a second. I'll get to it in just a second. But they're holding on the line. I just wanted to let you know. But Miles is – well, Miles, before you tell us about how people can help, tell the story about the representative from one of the senator's offices that was at the Rock Church. Right. Tuesday night we became a distribution center. So we were sending convoys of trucks all over the county to churches and community centers that were helping families. And Barbara Boxer's representative and other senators and politicians had come to the building to see the building. And then she went, this one woman went to Ramona. And so she's in Ramona and she called us on the phone because she had just been in our church and said, can you send relief to Ramona? And as she was talking. One of our truck convoys rolled up right in front of her as she was on the phone. And I wasn't on the phone call, but I just wanted, I wish I was on the phone call to say, you know, we work really fast, don't we? But we had been sending convoys, like 10 convoys up there. We're still sending convoys up there to a church up there. But, you know, that was just God's time. It's a blessing to see. And here's the great thing about it, Mikey, is that you got people in the church doing this. You know, I can't take credit for it.
It's really just a bunch of people doing things that God's leading them to do. And it's so big and so it has it's like an octopus with many legs. And it's a blessing to hear all the things we helped organize and get some restaurants to give food to the. staff at the UCSD Burn Center and some of their families, just stuff like that. We'll never hear all the stories. So how can people help right now? What do you guys have going on? Well, two ways. Everything I'm going to tell you is on the web in the Rock Relief. Just go to rocksandago.org and you'll see Fire Relief. But we gave all of our congregation a rave card that says Rebuild Kit, and they're supposed to give these cards to anyone who lost a home. At the same time, we're collecting sponsorships from corporations that will make a coupon book to give. to the people who lost their home. So when they get this coupon, this little rave card, if you lost your home, you can come to our website and cash in this voucher. We don't have the voucher yet. We're collecting the stuff. So if you're a corporation, you want to donate something that we can put in this little coupon book. And what kinds of things? What are we talking about that could be donated that could be in there? Well, there's going to be 2,000 people. So a guy came to me last night. He wants to do pictures. A lot of people's pictures burnt up. So he wants to take pictures.
for the people. How awesome is that? How awesome is that? Another guy came and he wants to give a discount to if they want to put sprinklers in their homes. Yeah. So he's going to do stuff like that. But again, there's 2,000 people. So we want to be able to provide it for if they come and say, here's my house. It burnt down because we know who those people are. The company's got to come through. What about businesses that want to help you? Can they go to the website and reach you there and help? Exactly. Just go to rocksandnego.org and it says fire relief. You'll see it and it'll be a place you can donate. At the same time, we're also collecting stuff because we're still distributing relief to people all around the county. Right. Working with the Red Cross and some other organizations. We had a senator call today or yesterday asking for relief for the south of the south county. If you go online, you can donate clothes and whatever. There's a whole list of stuff on there you can donate. Okay, cool. And one other thing, I'm sorry. We're taking a list of names for people who want to volunteer because we're going to start help cleaning up some of these homes. And we've already sent out some today, 50 people to go out and clean up some of the fire damage. So if you want to be a volunteer and pack some of this stuff in the trucks, deliver it, actually deliver it, when we get these kits.
For the people who lost their homes, we're going to actually deliver these things to them. So if you want to give us some time of your own hard labor, you can just sign up and put it on our database. That would be great, too. Okay. Now, Miles McPherson, thank you so much. And real quickly, let's get to that question that somebody had. This is P1 Andy. Are you there, Andy? Yes. Go ahead. What is your question? My question is nowadays with everybody having propane gas grills, gas cans in the garage, what do you need to do with something like that? The fire is getting close to your house. What do you think, Jimmy? Well, first of all, you can get in the phone book and go to fire equipment companies. And the fire equipment companies have proper storage facilities, proper storage sheds that they sell for you, the homeowner. They put it in their house, and it's a protective measure for all of the things that you were just listing. That's kind of cool. I didn't even know that existed. That's kind of cool. Yeah, because I did see on the news, I think it was Stoney from NBC 739 when he went to his house in Rancho Bernardo to see if it was still standing. Everything was fine for him, luckily. But then when he went in his backyard, he's like, why is my grill all the way by my back fence? And then he realized the propane tank. He had it up against his house when they evacuated. And when the firefighters came through, they pulled it to the back of his yard to keep it as far away from his house as possible.
Let me tell you, that's an act of bravery in itself. If I were a firefighter near that kind of heat and a propane tank, I wouldn't want anything to do with it. So you guys do stuff that is, I mean, it's practically, you guys are part firefighter, part stuntman. I mean, literally. Superhero. Paparazzi, you there? Yeah. Go ahead, man. What's your question? I noticed on the news, everybody everywhere was running their sprinkler systems during the fire. And while it may help their house, did it? hinder the fire department at all with water pressure and having enough water to fight the fire? Once again, paparazzi with a good question. Thanks. Well, paparazzi, you're right in the hinder factor. It definitely will wrestle with the water pressure in the area. We get a hold of the water authority and have them do some shifting in their systems to give us more pressure into areas that we need. In a fire of this magnitude, though, we're running all over this county. And it's hard for them to keep up with the pressure that we need in areas. And those sprinkler systems really aren't going to do anything. That's the catch, I think. They're not going to do anything. So there's no point. Why do it? You know what I mean? It's like Mikey was talking about what went down his house and then leaving. You're going to have an evaporation factor there. You're lowering the water pressure. The best thing you can do is get a hold of the fire departments that serve you.
and find out what you can do to make your house defensible. And we just talked about this guy's barbecue getting moved. Earlier I talked about the wood pile. There's some basic, basic things that you can do that make a huge difference. Hey, listen, I really appreciate you coming in and talking to us about this stuff, Jimmy. I mean, you have a perspective that we'd never know, and it was just really interesting to get to do that with you. And, Miles, thank you, too. Appreciate you coming in, and hopefully we get people to the website. It's therocksandiego.org, and people can donate there if they need to and help out in a lot of different ways. So thank you guys so much for coming in here. We really appreciate it. We'll catch you guys later. Thanks, guys. We've got a little bit left, and then we've got to get out of here ourselves. Last night, Monday Night Football, I barely got to see any of it because I was busy with work stuff. But Brett Favre does it again. Eddie is so handsome. Well, not only is he gorgeous, but the guy still has it, man. He still is awesome. Gorgeous. Yeah, by the way. Well, duh. Not handsome. Gorgeous. A little jealous that his wife got a lot of air time last night. It's fine. It's fine. I'm not gay. I just think Brett Favre is awesome. You're just jealous of Brett Favre's wife. Anyway.
Yeah, they go into overtime, and first series, Brett throws an 82-yard touchdown to Greg Jennings for the win. It was great. What's the deal with the Yankees and Joe Girardi? I hear he's their manager. He's not their manager. What's the deal? They've offered him the job. He hasn't officially accepted it yet, but he's going to, and he will be the manager. And what's the deal with Joe Torre? Is it the Angels or the Dodgers? The Dodgers are basically looking to hire him as their manager, which would be crazy. Oh, and then the Dallas Cowboys reached an extension with Tony Romo for six years, $67.5 million. Oh, is that it? $67 million. That's so crazy. That is so much dough. He deserves it. I mean, he's proved that he's one of the upper echelon quarterbacks. Mark Bolger got a similar contract in the offseason. And so, yeah, he would have got that and more if he would have waited even more. And the Jets finally benched Chad Pennington? I don't think it matters. I mean, I just couldn't believe that they were waiting this long. Yeah. I mean, it's tough. I feel, you know.
pretty bad for Eric Mangini because he's kind of returning the same club, if not a little bit better, than last year's playoff team. And they're just terrible right now with Chad Pennington making tons of mistakes. Yeah, I know that that city has just been screaming for him to pull Chad Pennington. It's kind of the same situation that was going on in Chicago. But when your backup is Kellen Clemens, I would have been a little wary of pulling the trigger too. It's like, well... I don't think that Kellen Clemens is going to lead him to the playoffs, you know? I guess he kind of got to the point where Chad, he knew, wasn't helping him in any way, so he had to make the switch. Absolutely. The Detroit Tigers traded for Edgar Renteria. A couple of prospects. There you go. Kid Rock's not going to be charged with anything in the fight with Tommy Lee. Whoa. Yeah, they say, and they being the Clark County District Attorney's Office. Not they.com? No, not they.com. I mean, that's normally where we get our they stuff from. But no, this is actually the Clark County District Attorney's Office says they will not pursue battery charges against Kid Rock. And the district attorney went on to say it should be noted that Tommy Lee has requested that there be no prosecution relating to this incident. Oh, what a good guy. Yeah. Great.
Passengers aboard a U.S. Airways flight at the San Diego airport had to evacuate. Yeah, it was weird. I want more details. I get so mad when there are stories out there and I have questions and I can't find details. But the only information I was able to find is last night a flight came in from Las Vegas to San Diego. When they were landing, they saw smoke and flames coming from the engine. So they stopped the plane at the end of the runway and passengers evacuated. Oh, that's good. On the runway. So they say everybody was safely evacuated and no reports of injury. They were refugees. Evacuees. They were evacuees. That's what they prefer to be called. I don't know. So that's not racist. I'm confused. Rachel Ray says she's a size six. 600. That's so brutal. Okay, if she's not a size six, what is she? Skye, you don't have to be sitting there being all nice. Tell me what you really think she is. Well, my first question... I say she's a size 7. I want to know how tall she is. Are you fat? She's a little taller than Rob. So about 4'9"? Oh, wow. A mini-mini. Yeah. I would say Rachel Ray is probably 5'5". 5'4"? Yeah, she's pretty short. Yeah. About 5'4". Okay, so if she's shopping in the petite department...
She's at least a size 8. 5'3". Yeah. And when you're 5'4", you have to shop in the petite department regardless of if you're a heavy person or if you're a thin person? Well, yeah. Petite is for shorter people. So your weight doesn't matter. I always thought petite meant little as in not just height, but like body. structure well yeah because if you're only so tall the arms on your sleeves and the legs on your pant legs you know these are things that are that the petite department applies so you're saying to me that if rosie o'donnell is five four that she's petite i i in my rosie o'donnell yeah in my experience rosie o'donnell yeah to me petite means height um and I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. To me, petite means your height. I believe I know more about petite than sky. Sky giving misinformation? That doesn't seem... But then if you're an overweight woman, then you need to shop at an overweight woman's store regardless of your height. You know what I mean? Because department stores... I have a friend who's like 5'5", so I guess 2 inches taller than Rachel Ray, but still that's kind of short. And she doesn't use petite. She just shops for normal. I think that petite...
I think petite is little and skinny. Yeah, I think you're right. You know my old personal trainer, Wendy, you guys met? She's petite. Yeah, my mom, petite. Can we get like a normal girl? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can we get like a normal girl? Yeah, wait. 570. One that's kind of smart. No, no, no, no. You guys are nuts. I mean like normal girls. 570-1053. Somebody's got to know what petite is. In my... In me, when I've ever gone to the store, it'll be P, and that's labeled as petite, and those are for little, tiny, thin girls. Skinny chicks. Yeah, little girls, like small-bodied women. Thank you. Happy to help? Not necessarily. I think with Rachel Ray, she probably just gets her jeans altered. P stands for perception, and my perception is height. Hello. Right? Hello. Here is the definition from MiriamWebster.com. Oh, not dictionary.com? Oh, wow. Then I don't know if I trust it. Oh, another one. Having a small trim figure. Oh, no. Oh. Usually used to describe a woman. Oh, boy. Well, that wasn't right. That makes me feel embarrassed. Why don't you guys get over it already? Well, the word petite and a petite clothing store are two different things.
First of all, the truth is very overrated. I mean, we try to be, you know... You try to be. Factual. Who tries? Well, the show. Oh, really? You've got some sort of documented thing? No, but I mean, I think we... Oh, really? Why don't you show me in the Mikey papers? Well, I know. I shop for my mom in the... We strive for truth. I just want us to have, like, factual information. Well, you know what? Wanting one hand and a turd in the other. And what do you have more of? And the fact is, my mom is short. I shop for her in the petite section because in the regular... She needs the arms and the legs altered because they're too long because she's short. We're both crying. You know what I say? I say petito patato. Oh. What are the callers saying? Oh, boy. P1 Veronica. Hi. Hi. I shop at JCPenney's, and I am 5'1", and I have to get all my clothes petite because if I wear regular clothes, it's too long. How are we supposed to believe a criminal that's being searched for at this very night? You're in Manhunt. Run! Maybe it depends on the store. Thank you. You should have been evacuated last week. They're going to find you. P1 Desiree. Hi, I'm a size 16 and I shop in petite stores. Thank you. Sky, you were right. Thank you. You can be... I apologize now. I apologize. I said I didn't know. Thank you.
But then continue to mock me and say that I was lying. Hang on. I never said you were lying. No one said that. I did. I just was not accurate. Hang on. That was a lying fact. No, Skye. Skye. You are inaccurate again. You lied. But Skye, the Merriam. Shut up, Sean. The Merriam-Webster dictionary did say something different. They did. But that's the definition for the word petite. Yeah, you were looking it up too. We were talking. No, I was trying to Google petite women's clothing. See, that's different. than just the actual word. Well, listen, I said I didn't know. No, thank you. If I went by the word, I'd be wrong. But then you guys... I mean, technically, if Rosie O'Donnell is 5'4", she's petite, which is a mind blower for me. I would have never used that word to describe Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. I just wouldn't have. Oh, what's... What is right? I just don't... What the last two callers said, that's what's right. Ashley's saying something else. The first caller says something else. I don't know. Melissa, go ahead. P1 Melissa. Oh, no. I think it just depends on the store. Oh, no. Here we go. Can we ever get it right?
I don't know. I don't think it's even that big a deal. I think it depends on the store and the store's sizes and how they range their petite clothes. That could be. In terms of Rachel Ray, I think she probably is a size 6 because the camera adds 10 pounds. They're using 8 cameras. Maybe they're using 4 cameras. She looks good. Rachel Ray, you think she's fat? No, I do not. I think she looks good. Ridiculous. I think she looks great. Yeah. Wait a second. I'd say she's a size six. If you think Britney Spears was fat at the VMAs, then you think Rachel Ray is fat. First of all, hang on a second. Because if she wore that same outfit, it would be disgusting. Tio. Yeah. Oh, time out. Yeah. Tarell Owens. No, I was talking about Tarell Owens. He's so awesome. He's petite. What's new with him? He is? Yeah. No, he's not. He is the baby. Here is the difference. Yeah. If Rachel Ray... were wearing the outfit Britney Spears was wearing, I would 100% probably be saying she looks fat. 100% probably? Are you fat? That's my favorite. It's like, I knew this girl that was 100% probably pregnant. Oh, no. Oh, wait. Does that mean she is pregnant? She is pregnant. Oh. Again, I'm confused. Okay, she'd be fat. If she was wearing the same thing Britney was wearing. Yeah. It doesn't change your body type. It really does. She hides it. Like, I think she looks great. I think Rachel Ray looks really good.
But if Britney Spears that same night got off stage and jumped into that yummo outfit. Oh, no. You know, jumped into that. What is there other words that Rachel Ray uses? Yummo. DVO. DVO. Doesn't she have one for like sandwich or something? Yeah, Sammy. If she jumped into a Rachel Ray looking outfit, she'd probably look good, too. So she wouldn't be fat. She wouldn't look fat to me. The only reason that Britney looked fat is because she was wearing clothes from the baby gap. Right. Yeah, there's a difference between being fat and looking fat. Yes. Yeah. She's not fat. Rachel Ray's not fat. You're so petite. I'm actually not petite. At all. Oh, my gosh. That one got a little bit of it. What was that for? That one got a little bit of it. Uncall for. Uncall for. Well, if he's using the term correctly, he just called me tall. That's out loud. And you're welcome. But he meant to call me tall. No, I didn't. He sure did. No, I didn't. Excuse me. I'm turning her mic off. What is she talking about? Sky. Sky, until you thank him, I think everybody thinks you're a little rude. Thank him for what? For calling you tall. Calling you tall. Calling someone tall is a compliment? I think so in this society. Maybe for certain people. I think somebody owes somebody a thank you. You're welcome. I think somebody owes somebody an apology for trying to call them that. I'm talking to you, Eddie. Eat me out of it. What do you mean? You were the one that's calling her an opposite. Christina's on the line. Give me a break. Go ahead, Christina.
Hi, I was just calling. I agree with you, Mikey. In high school, I was really small, and my mom would always take me to shop in the petite apartment, and I never thought it had anything to do with height. I thought it was like your frame of your body. Well, we're finding out that it does. Yeah, it's the length on the arms and the legs that are the difference in the petite section. By the way, I have a question. You know how when the person called in and said, Yeah, you know, you could be tall and petite. I said, oh, really? Well, Skye, I apologize. I'm just curious. When in a similar situation in the future, will Skye say she's wrong and apologize? Do you know her? Have you ever met her? If I was making fun of you about something and mocking you? Yeah, well, you know. Yeah, then yeah. Oh, okay. She never does that. But I don't. What? She doesn't do that. But, you know. Apologize, you're right. No, like she would never come after you about something like that and mock you. Now hang on a second. You know what I mean? Now you're saying, Skye, that if I had not been mocking, I would not have owed you an apology? Like if I was like, I think it's this, and if you said, oh, I think it's that. And then somebody called and corrected me, I would have no obligation.
Because you're not telling me I'm wrong. I want the apology for you saying that I'm wrong and you making fun of me. That's what the apology is for. It's not for disagreeing or for not sharing the same idea about something. It's about you telling me I'm wrong and then making fun of me. Wait a minute. I don't want to apologize for making fun of you. I only want to apologize for being wrong and saying that you're wrong. I was wrong. And therefore I said I was wrong. You were right. Sorry about that. What language are you speaking? The making fun of part is the best part of everything. For you. The mocking. For you. Not so much for me. Oh, man. P1 Carla. Hey, Mikey. I work at Nordstrom, and the way we define petite is anybody that's 5'2 and under. And so we send them up to the petite section. Sky is right because... In average clothing, the length of the sleeves and the length of the leg would be too long for somebody that's that height and under. So they have to go up to the petite department because it's cut, especially for people of that size. Thank you. Yes, thank you very much. Bye. You didn't know. When is Ashley going to apologize? Veronica? Well, Ashley wasn't.
Ashley wasn't telling me I was wrong. Well, she was saying that she thought it was one thing, but she wasn't mocking me. She just thought it was something else. She was still wrong. She was wrong. But that's okay, because she wasn't telling me I was wrong. She's like, I think it's this. And I said, no, I think it's that. Thank you. So that's Skye's rules? Yeah, how did they, I mean, where did they come up with this? How is this confusing to you? Yeah, this is common courtesy. How is this confusing to you? To you, Veronica. To the world. Veronica, go ahead. I'm so fat, Eddie. You couldn't tell. Wow, who said fat? You did. Lies. I said you're tall. Go ahead, Veronica. I'm looking on googleimages.com and there's actually Rachel Ray in FHM Magazine. That's like from five years ago. Is it really? What is it? Listing her as petite? No, there's pictures of her in her bra. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That was from five or six years ago. We saw those pictures when we were in Dallas. Oh, wow. Almost threw up. I think she's very cute. Oh, don't say that. You don't think that she is vile? She's annoying, dude. She's super annoying. Really? You think she's ugly? Okay, Eddie. I think we did it, Eddie. We know your feelings. See, I think she's annoying, but kind of cute. Skye, what do you think? Rachel Ray. I think Rachel Ray...
I mean, I think she's cute for a girl walking down the street. I think for somebody in Hollywood, she's not really anything special. Well, she's not in Hollywood. She's not like a Hollywood lady. She cooks, you know. Well, but she has a TV show. She cooks grilled cheese. She's kicking. Not well. She's very well known. Yeah, she's Hollywood, dude. Really? In with Oprah. She's very up there. Well, I apologize. Your buddy Valerie Bertinelli. Yeah, Valerie Bertinelli's on that show now. What? She does a bunch of, like, regular appearances on the show. Yeah, they're like new BFFs. They got along so well, Rachel Ray asked her to be like a regular contributor. Maybe she can get on Jenny Craig, too. Stop it. What? Beatrice McCartney. Who is Beatrice McCartney? The daughter of Heather Mills and Paul McCartney. Wait a minute. You're saying this story is telling me Heather Mills, the ex-wife, the one with the wooden leg. Yes. threw a $200,000 birthday party for their kid Beatrice? Yep. Four years old. No. Oh, come on. Fury. Rage. Rage just went through my body. And she had it at Paul McCartney's $6.5 million estate. So there was no rental fee. So the $200,000 has nothing to do with the location. That was just for all the goodies.
that it was a Disney-themed party. So, of course, you need a real-life Cinderella, a Tinkerbell, a still white. Yeah, Walt's laying there mummified. Yeah, a little outdoor movie theater that's playing Disney movies. Killer. Fountains, a bouncy castle, a $20,000 fireworks display. What? It's like a miniature Disneyland. Yeah, and then, of course, you need a birthday present on top of the party. What was it? A pony. Oh my gosh! Vesper! Right? That's so diabolical. All on Paul's dime. Right? That's why she needed all that money that made me sick. And he probably wasn't even invited. No, they say he was there, but only stayed for about 20 minutes. And then she had him removed. Yeah. You know, I was so sickened by that divorce and how much money she wanted. I thought it was wrong. What, $100 million? You don't think she deserves $100 million? I thought it was so wrong to do. And then I hear that and I think to myself, what a dial-up woman. Daniel Craig has signed on for four more Bond movies. Nice. How about that? Unnecessary. What? Unnecessary? What are you talking about? How many times did the Bonds movies? Bonds? It's not Barry Bonds. James Bond, right? Bond. Yeah, James Bond. I was saying Bonds movies.
I guess that would be Bond movies. People really enjoy them, Ashley. Hey, that last one was awesome. Casino Royale, great movie. Really? Great movie. And I'm not even a Bond fan. Four more. That's how much they like it. I'm in. Yo, what up? Jane Seymour says that when she was on TV years ago in the Tournament of Roses Parade, she suffered a miscarriage during the parade. All right, guys. We'll see you later. We'll be back tomorrow morning. What? I don't think I heard you right. Jane Seymour, Dr. Quinn, medicine woman. She says she was in the Tournament of Roses parade that they have every year in Pasadena on the New Year. And that while she was there on the float, waving and going, she suffered a miscarriage. She was hosting. Oh, she was hosting. Yeah.
So she had to be there for the whole parade. She had to be there for the whole parade. Because she's on Dancing with the Stars right now, and she was saying how she wasn't sure if she wanted to do it because she doesn't like doing live television anymore. And then when they asked her why, she said, well, this one time. Oh, my. Oh, my. I don't know. You've got to tell us everything. Yeah. Yeah. Some things we can keep to ourselves. No, I think so. Because, you know, now everybody's just going to be going back and getting footage of that rose parade. Was it here? Was it here? What a terrible story. 5701053. Give us a call at the beginning and end of every show, and you can talk about anything you'd like to. P1 Candice. Hi, Mikey. What's going on? Well, I originally called to tell you that I'm 5'1", and I do not wear petite sizes. But since that's over, can I talk to Sky about something? Sure. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Yes, go ahead. Yeah, go right ahead. I heard you guys talking so much about Friday Night Lights.
and I decided to go out and buy the series, and I am completely, completely psycho about it now. And I'm headed to Austin on my drive across country, and I was wondering if you could give me the address to Timmy Riggins. Do you have an extra seat in your car? I do. Let's go and stalk him. Skye, you should send her that pornographic picture of Riggins that you have, that child porn that you have. He is 26 years old, and he's wearing pants in the picture. I mean, they're unbuttoned and coming off, but they're... Skye has the dirtiest, nastiest picture of Riggins on her computer. I saw it the other day and I go, hey, hot spells. It makes Jenna Jameson blush. Whatever. It's so classy and delicious. Jenna Jameson thinks it's inappropriate. Whatever. It's artistic. If you want Rodney. What's up, man?
Hey, I am a clothing manufacturer, and we produce petite extra larges. Well, there you go. You can be chubby and petite. That's correct. I didn't know. What about venti? Do you guys make ventis? That's Starbucks, Eddie. Oh, grande? That's Starbucks. I am really glad that they don't sell clothes with Starbucks names because I don't want to go in and ask for a double extra grande. That's just embarrassing. With a shot of chubby. Yeah, a sugar-free chubby. P1 Dustin. Hey, what's up, Mikey? I just wanted to say I agree with you completely about the Rachel Ray is cute, but man, is she annoying. I watch the Food Network all the time, and she drives me crazy. I agree with you, man. Thank you very much. Mikey Show, last call. Bring us home. Mikey, I just wanted to ask you, what do you think I can do to overcome a drug problem? What can you do to overcome a drug problem? Yeah, I know you've dealt with it and stuff.
I'm dealing with it myself right now, and it's getting old, and I just want to know, since you've been there, what do you think are the best ways to do that? I'm going to have you write me an email, bro. Okay. That's what I want you to do. Instead of me talking to you about it real publicly like this, why don't you write me an email, and my email address is Mikey at K-I-O-Z dot com, M-I-K-E-Y at K-I-O-Z dot com, and let's wrap. Lovely and talented Missy is up next. Today on the Nooners, she's got a little all-request lunch hour. So anything you want, you can call in and request. It should be real good. Don't forget, the day after tomorrow, Boston Rob's DNA results. I guess you get some tomorrow afternoon, but we'll tell you on the radio on Thursday morning. If anyone who wasn't affected by the fires gave at least $5, listen to this. Everybody that wasn't affected by the fires, if we gave $5, we could raise over $15 million. So let's do it. All the money will be collected by Mission Federal Credit Union, donated to the Red Cross and Salvation Army. For details, go to rock1053.com. Keyword, relief. And lastly, if you're a female singer and you want to be able to sing on the Mikey Show on Monday morning, just go to MikeyShow.com. M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com.
