The Mikey Show broadcast from Qualcomm Stadium and raised more than $20,000 for San Diego wildfire relief, mixing interviews with firefighters, public officials and aid workers with comedy bits and listener contests. Pete Scully, Brian Wenger, Robert Lewin and Steve Shoemaker described fires moving through extreme winds, evacuation-first tactics and helicopter work so close that embers entered the aircraft, while Jerry Sanders and Ron Roberts laid out debris removal, rapid permits and better emergency alerts. Joe Rogan donated his comedy proceeds, Doug O'Brien explained exactly how Salvation Army money would support displaced families, and Tyler Gilliland told how his mother and family warned neighbors before their own home burned. Between the live-TV P1 prank, Jenny's winning duet audition and Sky's trivia victory, Mikey argued that entertainment could help people gather, give and recover, then closed by relating that hope to his own sobriety.
What happened, in order
Dog's apology under fire
The hosts reported that Dog the Bounty Hunter's son released the racist phone recording, then rejected Dog's claim that his repeated slurs had been taken out of context.
Live-TV sign invasion
Boston Rob and a group of P1 listeners marched behind Mikey's Fox 6 interview with homemade signs, turning a respectable live shot into an on-air prank.
Inside the fire lines
Firefighters Pete Scully and Brian Wenger described the Harris and Witch Creek fires, including 60-mile-an-hour winds, distant spot fires, failed goggles, rescues and burn injuries.
Sanders promises a fast rebuild
Mayor Jerry Sanders said Rancho Bernardo lots would be cleared by about December 20 and most rebuilding permits turned around within roughly seven days.
Joe Rogan gives his gate
Joe Rogan pledged all of his comedy-show proceeds to fire relief, recalled evacuating his own Calabasas home, and argued that laughter and fundraising could serve the community together.
The duet audition
Sky reluctantly demonstrated the song before five callers auditioned a cappella to perform Joe Bricato's duet, with Jenny ultimately winning the Monday studio appearance.
County cleanup plan
Ron Roberts explained that the county would remove hazardous fire debris from insured and uninsured properties, warned against sham contractors, and promoted expanded reverse-911 alerts.
Helicopters at the edge
Robert Lewin and Steve Shoemaker detailed the Harris Fire command system and helicopter missions flown in extreme winds, close enough for embers to burn holes in aircraft seats.
What relief money buys
Lieutenant Colonel Doug O'Brien said the Salvation Army needed another $500,000 for gift cards, meals, cleanup tools, grief support and years of recovery help.
Tyler's family saves neighbors
Fourteen-year-old Tyler Gilliland recounted how his former-firefighter mother broke a neighbor's window to wake them, his family warned the street, and they escaped before losing their home and two pets.
Dumb Chick Challenge
Ashley, Sky and caller MJ stumbled through trivia on Bingo, the Donner Party, dojos, presidents and geography before Sky won by naming John Hancock.
Twenty thousand and hope
The show announced that more than $20,000 had been raised, then Mikey connected the fire victims' need for hope to his own three years of sobriety and recovery from alcohol addiction.

Welcome to the program, it's the Mikey Show live from Qualcomm where we're going to be doing a gigantoid fire relief effort out here today and we're out here with a bunch of clear channel stations like every clear channel station there is is out here today to help out in this effort so We want people to come out. It's section, Eddie, you're familiar with it because you do the Charger broadcast. Section F2. F2 is when you drive into the stadium from Friars, you just go right, and you're going to see a bunch of, well, you're not going to miss it. It's on the right. You can't miss us. It's on the right. And it's going to be great. All morning long, we're going to be doing this, and then it's going to go on the rest of the day and 7 o'clock tonight, and we're really very stoked about it. Now, I'm going to tell you right now, you know how the Mikey Show, is usually very... Oh, what's the word? Dumb? No. Horny? Mm-mm. Ridiculous. Closer to that than anything else. Unprofessional? Irreverent. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what the word I was thinking of. Irreverent? No, the word I was thinking of was actually unprofessional. Dang it. So, you know how we're usually unprofessional? Yeah. Well, today, we may be even more unprofessional than usual because...
We're in an environment that is not our own. And the weird thing is, is that usually we're in our own environment, yet it feels like it's not our own. So this is going to be much worse today in terms of my ADD and our weirdness. Awesome. But we do have some pretty good stuff from out here today. It's going to be pretty cool. We're going to be talking to Mayor Sanders out here today. We're going to have Joe Rogan performing tonight and giving all of his proceeds to Fire Relief. We're going to have those girls on the phone later on singing for the opportunity to come into the studio. You know what's really cool about that, by the way? It's cool, but it's kind of a bummer at the same time. What's that show with Jamie Kennedy where people sing? Is it like... Not Jamie Kennedy. I don't know what his name is. Wayne Brady? Wayne... Brady. Jamie Kennedy? Singing Bee. Singing Bee. Is it Singing Bee? Well, there's two of them. Yeah. So you think you can sing? Don't forget the lyrics. Don't forget the lyrics. It's the only one I've seen. Yeah. And I was watching it, and there was this girl from San Diego on it. And I was like, wow, she's really good. Well, I got an email from a girl that said she really wanted to be in the competition, and she sent me a link to look at her.
singing resume. And it was that girl. Really? That was on that show. Oh, that's cool. And so she found out about this whole thing kind of late. And what we're talking about is on Monday, an old friend of ours, Joe Braccato, is coming into the studio with his acoustic guitar to sing two songs from his new album. One of them is a duet, and we're going to let a P1 listener, one of our listeners, come in on Monday and sing with him. And so this morning at 7.30, we're going to be... Hearing a different girl sing and whoever does the best is going to come in and sing with them on Monday. It's like the American Idol audition show. Exactly. Today. Exactly. We're going to do a little Tough Love with Eddie today. Oh, live version. I thought we were trying to help people today. Exactly. You figured it out. It's a special Qualcomm version of it. Also, a little something we like to call the Dumb Chick Challenge is going to be on today. Yes. Not out here in front of all these people. That'll be great. If by all these people you mean Spaceboy and P1 Ryan, then yes. That's definitely what I mean. All these people. Don't bum rush us. Hey, where's Danny? Have you talked to Danny? Do you know if he's coming? Yeah, he's coming. He's coming. P1 Danny runs P1 Danny in conjunction with P1 Spaceboy. They both run P1Site.com. And it's a great website to be able to check out stuff on the show. You can also go to MikeyShow.com.
P1site.com is cool because it's like a safe place. I went on there last night and voted for my favorite member of the show. Sky, I voted for you. Oh, thank you. It's nice of you. And Sean was in the lead, followed closely by Eddie, followed by everyone else. I know that I personally was the only person with no votes. Oh, that's not true. That can't be true. It was solid truth. I had 0% of the vote, and I have to say that that both hurt me and tickled me. I had the feeling of both emotions. At first I laughed. Then I went, well, wait, let's think about this for a minute, Mike. That's not that funny. And there's where it stands right now. But it's a great site, and people should check it out. So, down to business. Yeah. We're in the business of raising money today. Come on. Oh my goodness. P1 Danny has made a sign. He's walking up right now. Oh my goodness. Look at this sign. He is so awesome. P1site.com. He's got this big giant sign that says P1site.com. You are so cool, Danny. He is committed to making his website the number one website in the country. He's going to be famous for this. It's like Yahoo, Google, and P1site.com.
That is so crap. The other side says dig into some. It's a picture of Eddie eating, and it says ponesite.com. I just got a brilliant idea. I just got a brilliant idea. Danny, if you're willing, we're going to do this. If you're willing, we're going to fly you to New York and put you on the Today Show. Like out in the audience with the audience behind Matt Lauer and all those guys out in that big courtyard. I know that they discourage signs and stuff like that, so we'll have to be creative. We'll have to have him holding something that says, I love P1s and Al Roker rules or something like that. But dude, if you're willing, we'll fly you out there. In fact, we should fly a couple of them out there. That's cool. So we'll have a couple of signs. But yeah, that just gave me the idea. What do you think of that? Yeah, for sure. Today's show. Let's get him on. Why not? Okay, so down to business. All right. We're trying to raise money for fire relief, and so we encourage P1s to drive out here today and donate some money. Yeah, they've got a whole drive-thru set up, so it's going to be real easy. You drive through, you drop off some whatever money you can, and then you can park and come in here and hang out with us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's real easy. Not only is it easy, but talk about a way to be able to give back to your community. By the way, Channel 6 came over.
And one of the anchors, the morning anchor for Channel 6, said that his kids could care less who he is, but they love the Mikey show. And so he's going to get us on TV this morning. So we'll be on Channel 6 at some point this morning. And, you know, it's just going to be a fun morning out here. I'm going to spend a lot of my time trying to get, you know, autographs from Jeff and Jer. Oh, good luck, dude. I know. The line goes around Qualcomm. Line goes around Qualcomm. Yeah. Right now, it's myself and Eddie and Sky and Boston Rob. The Riz. Yeah. What up? Everyone loves the Riz. Ashley's doing some stuff at the station, but will be here soon. And Zeth is staying behind and running stuff from that end. Mm-hmm. figuring out how to screen phone calls. And so this is where we're going to be, and this is where we want to see you. This is a really cool setup. Dude, this is awesome. Like you said, you can drive through, drop off your donation if you have to get to work or get your kids to school. It'll just take a second, and you can donate. But if you want to hang out, this setup is awesome. We've got stools and tables.
ping pong tables and foosball and couches where you can just kick it and hang out all morning. It's really cool. Yeah, and it's great because Eddie broadcasts the pregame show from here on Sunday mornings when the Chargers do a home game. And so he's used to this setup. It's really nice. Yeah, this is the exact setup they do for us except we get couches up here. So I'm kind of bummed that our couches aren't up here. But other than that, this is a great setup and you can absolutely... kick back here and chill with us. During the breaks, we'll come and maybe talk to you. I don't know. Oh, stop. You know how Sky is. What are you talking about? I'm the nice one. The opposite. Whatever. Cool one. Top stories today. I saw this on the news last night and this really bothered us, man. This thing with Kimberly King. Kimberly Hunt. Kimberly Hunt. Kimberly Hunt is a KUSI anchorwoman. She's driving into her house. She sees some, like, what they described as, like, young kids or whatever, like hoodlums. Yeah, suspicious people. Ruffians. And they came up to the car when she was in it, and they sprayed a chemical into the car, which I thought was just nuts, man. That's disgusting. And I, like...
Do we have any information as far as, like, have they been arrested or anything? Yeah, two people were arrested yesterday in regards to this. And, you know, I guess, you know, since she works on the news, she's got the nighttime broadcast to do. So she was coming home late. It was, like, close to midnight. And, like Mikey said, noticed some suspicious people. She was trying to write down their license plate when they approached her car and sprayed some sort of chemical in her face. So she was taken to the hospital, but they do say that there were no serious injuries sustained and that she would be back at work. You know, two people have been arrested in connection to this. It's awful. And I'm telling you, man, I just hope the best for her and for her family and everything. Because that, I'm sure, scared the heck out of everybody involved. Oh, my gosh. It's an awful, terrible thing that happened. And I hope that they are getting better from the experience. Because I'm sure the experience itself was pretty traumatizing. Right. So anyway, that was like the top local story last night on the news. And that's what we were seeing this morning when we came in. And another big deal is Mike Aguirre is holding interview slash press conferences again. Man. Why? I just shoosh already. What was the deal? Well, this time he's saying that due to the city's lack of useful brush management, more homes could have been saved during the wildfires.
So basically pointing the finger at the city saying this is kind of all your fault. I mean, listen, is there any way that as a city we can say we don't want the negative stuff? If you have that as business on your docket, do it in private. You pointing it out to us isn't making us think, wow, good thing for Mike Aguirre. It's making everyone think you're really bumming everybody out. Well, and there's a way. to say things and get your point across without like being hurtful you know what i mean he could say you know what i think this is a good reminder about how we need to be more diligent about brush management versus saying you know what city you guys suck and due to your poor brush management this is what happened right not necessary ridiculous hey uh check it out mark bailey from fox in the morning is uh standing by with us hey guys how are you man oh man i i'm shaking 20 years, 20 plus years in radio and television, my kids don't give a you-know-what about what I do for a living. I just called my house. I said, I'm going to be on a Mikey show. That's great. They're wetting themselves. Back at my house. Look, my wife, she's going, this is so cool. This is so cool. She's got messages for everybody. B-Rob, congrats on not being the daddy. Yes. Thank you. To that hideous, hideous woman, my wife says. I lost her. Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh. She's hideous.
Love Sky. Absolutely love Sky. Oh, yay. See, I told you. I'm the cool one. And Ashley, Mikey, you are the coolest. My son says we worship at the altar of the Mikey Show. Wow, that made me feel real weird and uncomfortable. Isn't that strange? Really weird and uncomfortable. They listen on their way to school in the morning. They've got a long commute in the morning. And so my son says that just gets us through the morning. That's how we start our days. Well, thank you, man. Mark Bailey is on Fox in the morning. And you guys are out here. You're going to cover. What were your thoughts when you drove up this morning and you saw what a huge kind of, production we've got going on out here well you know we did this after the cedar fire and all the clear channel stations came down and you know we had some booths set up down here we had the cones set up and people drove through by the thousands and it was really it was wonderful i drove down here i thought the carnival would come to town i mean this is incredible that the power party area that you guys have got set up here i mean you can you can accommodate thousands of people down here so i hope they'll come down and just Hang out. Besides donating, just come hang out for the morning and just kind of share the love a little bit. Well, we had been saying kind of all week long that if everybody that was not affected by the fires that donated $5 were to donate $5 out here today, we'd raise $15 million alone just with the people that were not affected. And so it's really important that people...
Take the time to be able to try to come out here today and just donate a little bit because if you donate a little bit and a lot of people do it, you've got a lot of money. You know what? Maybe you're on your way. You're going to stop by the coffee shop and grab a cup of coffee. Come by here and throw that coffee money in the can and hang out with us for a little while. Drink some of that junk coffee at the office. That's right. Exactly. And you won't have to trim your nose hairs. Great. Exactly. If your coffee's like ours. Mark, how long are you guys broadcasting out here? Throughout the day? No, we're going to go until 10 this morning. We're going to go straight through until 10. You know, we're on a couple times an hour. Right. And then Ruben Galvan's down here. He's on a couple times an hour, too. And he's running around talking to people? Right. Or harassing people. You know what he's got his eye on over there in the silent auction area? What? You talk about creepy. Oh, no. Snoop Dogg's suit. Come on. No. They've got a suit that's autographed by Snoop Dogg over there. It's a Snoop Dogg suit. And it's like this jumpsuit thing over there. What would one do with a Snoop Dogg suit? I don't know. Do you wear it or do you frame it? They've got it over there in a lovely presentation box. Oh, okay. But I mean, I don't know. That's just...
There's a lot of really cool stuff, but that's one of the weirdest things I've seen over there. I got a list of some of the stuff that we have that we're going to be auctioning off today. Autographed Nikki Sixx guitar. Wow. Lincoln Park drumhead. Avenged Sevenfold drumhead. A pair of tickets to the sold-out Van Halen concert. A trip for two to Universal Studios in L.A. where you get to tour the Psycho House. And the lead singer of Puddle of Mud will... I'm assuming be with you. Then the next night you get to go see Puddle of Mud in concert at the Roxy and a two night hotel stay. So there's a lot of stuff out here that people should. And that's not it. Like we said, it's all the clear channel stations. And so there's other radio stations out here this morning that have cool stuff too. So depending on what radio station you go to, you can get different kinds of stuff. I know that they're from KGB. There's a. Who t-shirt and tour book, Tom Petty stuff, Bon Jovi stuff from Star. They've got Simpson movie Pixels. One of the things is Wesley Snaps will pay your taxes for a year. That'd be nice. Wow. Which is pretty cool. Really cool. Wow. Considering what he's been through, that would be really cool. That's nice. So, come out here. Let's get some money raised this morning and make sure that the people that were affected by the fires get some help. But, you know, hey man, listen. I'm glad you guys are out here.
Mark Bailey came out from Fox in the morning, and hopefully everybody just bands together and raised some dough. You don't know how cool this is for me, but now it must end already. Security is waiting to escort me. Oh, I see. Back outside of the party area. Apparently, I'm not cool enough to be here. If you look outside the fence, I'm not kidding. See where my table's set up? Right, right. That's where I am. I'm the lonely guy over there. That's so awkward. Wow. So I have to leave now, but thank you guys so much. It was great to meet you, man. Good to meet you. Don't make eye contact, Mark. I'm sorry, Mark. Kiss the ring, don't kiss the ring. This is so awkward. That is so uncomfortable. Thanks, Mark. Mark Bailey is on Fox in the Morning. You can watch that this morning and hopefully get a chance to see all the people coming out here and giving money. We will hopefully be able to go over there and say hi in a little bit as well. Some weird stuff happening in the world. Dog the Bounty Hunter has offered his sincerest apologies. for using the n-word and his lawyer has said that the son that gave the tape over the lawyer about dog's lawyer is saying that
The son basically sold the tape to the Inquirer. Wow. Yeah, I mean, because we pretty much, I mean, when we heard it, we were like, there's only one person who can be responsible for putting this tape out there. It's got to be Dog's son. But no, it has now been confirmed through Dog's lawyer that, yes, Dog the Bounty Hunter's son was the one who released to the media the tape of Dog the Bounty Hunter repeatedly using the N-word in conversation. Now, we haven't been able to see our audio sheet. Sean, I know Dog issued a statement with an apology. Do you have audio of that or no? Hold on one second. Because it would be better to hear it than to have me read it. We're trying to get, so you know, Sean, we're trying to get connectivity out here with the laptops, but it's not really happening, which we're going to try to get another laptop. Somebody else is bringing a laptop over that has. some kind of internet connection on it. So later on, I know for sure we'll be able to connect to you, but right now we're just kind of winging it. Okay, so the only thing I have for Dog this morning is from last night on TMZ, his pastor released a statement saying that Dog cried for half an hour straight over the whole thing. Okay. Oh, man. You want to hear that? Yeah, yeah. When I talked to Dog, I said, you know, this is not good. Pastor Tim Story, known as Pastor to the Stars.
His dog's life coach even performed his wedding ceremony. You know, he instantly started crying and was crying for 30 minutes straight. Story says he found the tape shocking, but it's not who Dog is. He's a good person. He loves people. He's been with me to inner city churches. And, you know, he's a caring person. He said, I can't believe this is going to put me in the same situation as Don Imus. Yeah, it's a lot worse. Yeah, way worse. A lot worse. So this is what Dog had to say. Quote, my sincerest heartfelt apologies go out to every person I've offended for my regrettable use of a very inappropriate word. I'm deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation. It was completely taken out of context. No, no. You know what? In fairness to Dog, maybe he doesn't know what out of context means. Like, maybe he thinks that out of context means it was taken exactly the way it was meant. He goes on to say, I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should not have used that term. I have the utmost respect and aloha for black people who have already...
suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred. And hang loose blood. Hang ten, bro. Yeah. I wanted to just say hang loose blood. Catch on the medicine. Hey, I got, okay, on my cell phone, I'm able to get the audio sheet. So I'm looking at the audio sheet on my cell phone right now. Okay, this is pretty good. This should be pretty good. Hayden Pantieri, she's the chick that plays the cheerleader on Heroes. Yeah, save the cheerleaders, save the world. Well, she wants to save the dolphins. Yes. So she went to Japan because they're really into dolphin fishing there. They are?
Wow. I guess. I guess. And so she's there and she's doing an interview talking about how she wants to save all the dolphins, not laughing at the fact that she's trying to save dolphins, laughing at the fact that this gets emotional. Cut three. I mean, if you saw, there's one point where, I mean, they were literally spy hopping, which is when they jump out of the water, they stick their head up out of the water and they can look around and see around them and this baby stuck its head out and kind of looked at The thought that the baby's no longer with us. Which is sad. How can you laugh at that? I knew what Eddie and Skye, or I mean Sean. How dare you. I knew. A baby dolphin was killed. No, that's not funny. That isn't funny. That's not the part. It's just that she is. That's a whole baby dolphin. It's all sad, right? I mean, the whole thing is sad. She's a wonderful baby.
I agree with you. Joe Rogan stopping by a little bit later on. Does anybody else feel awkward that Sky showed up for the wrong charity today? Wait a minute. What do you mean? Well, she's busted out her AIDS quilt skirt. It's not an AIDS quilt. And I feel just awkward because we're here for the fire victims. Sky, your skirt looks like an AIDS quilt. It does not. Everyone has AIDS. Now there's the musical. I didn't expect that clip to end so soon, but I will say this. What, Mike? It does look like an AIDS quote. It does not. Rob. I like it. I like it. Thank you, Rob. These guys aren't going to listen to me. That's true. Maybe if you donate a certain amount of money, Sky will put your name on her skirt. What do you think? What are we asking for? If you donate money to the fire fund. What are we looking for? A thousand dollars to get your name on Sky's skirt? What? A thousand bucks?
Yeah, what if you got the spray painted on there? Would that be worth more money? Yeah, probably like five grand. Nobody wants their name on my skirt, and it's not an AIDS quilt. Thank you. Fine. Let's see. Heather Mills got dumped by her publicist. Ooh. That chick. Out of control. She's having a bad week. Yeah. It's a bad week. I mean, the deal is, I guess, that when you're a publicist, it's your job to endear you to all the different media outlets. And Heather Mills isn't helping herself in that regard. And so she's like, well, what do you want me to do? Right, yeah. Her publicist is trying to make friends and make nice with the tabloids and the papers. And then Heather Mills is going on the Today Show saying that the tabloids make her suicidal and she fears for the life of her daughter because of tabloids and death threats and this and that. So her publicist finally said, you know what? I'm fighting a winless battle here. I'm going to quit. We are going to be talking to various people today that are directly involved in city management and stuff like that as far as getting things of the fires taken care of, people that have been evacuated, stuff like that. There's firefighters out here and they're handsome. Is that right, Skye? Well...
I mean, just the uniform in general. They're heroes, and they're handsome, and I appreciate that. Both those qualities. That's right. We've got guys from the firefighters. We've got Cal Fire out here, San Diego Fire Department. We've got Jerry Sanders. He'll be stopping by a little bit later on, and so that'll be cool. Here's what we're going to do. Take a quick time out, and when we come back, we are going to give you some, hopefully, some more audio on this Heather Mills deal. And we've got all kinds of stuff for you on the show today. Even though we're out here and raising money, we're also still giving you the stuff that you come to the Mikey Show for. And so comedian Joe Rogan out here today. He's performing tonight at Spreckles, right, Eddie? Yep. And he's donating all of his income from tonight's show to the Fire Benefit. And so we're going to be doing that. Tough Love with Eddie. We've got Dump Chick Challenge. We've got the whole thing. Make sure you're tuning in. We'll be right back. It's the Mikey Show live from Qualcomm, section F2. Come out and say hi to us. It's Rock 105.3.
Bro, you've got to go, man. It is life-changing. No, I'm serious, man. You stand there and you look out, and it's so big. It just completely changes the way you look at everything. You realize you have a tiny little place in this world. You realize how small you are, man. Really? That means this whole universe of hundreds of billions of galaxies, each with hundreds of billions of stars, might just be a part of one atom that's in the cell of one guy who lives in another universe, and it's gone, and there's no end. I'm looking at a ditch. I thank Mikey this morning for staying on the air. You know, it's my one day off during the weekend. You guys totally rock. Dude, I appreciate that, man. Would you buy a used car if it had been damaged in a fire? Fires can warp a car's frame, ruin airbags, and destroy electrical systems. The first step to finding out about San Diego vehicles with fire damage and every other state's, ask your dealer for a Carfax Vehicle History Report or go to Carfax.com. There is more than one side to every story. More than one way to see any issue. I'm Jim Patton, and Fox 6 News works hard to cover them all. No bias, just balance.
That's why we're your station for Balance News, nightly at 10. 053 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. Here's looking at a pretty quiet ride. We're getting by with a nice Friday morning light commute. No major problems out here. Just a minor delay in the South 15. It's come out of Escondido through that construction area here in Rancho Bernardo. Nothing too serious at all. South 15 looking good down the shoreline. The East County is also up to speed. North 805 to the South Bay. That's starting to get tougher here from Division Street up to around the 94 freeway. Northbound 5 also bunching up just past that South Bay freeway. Might be a little busy coming out of Ramona this morning again. Coming out of downtown up to Highland Valley Road and then getting on the 67 as that's pretty much the only main route in and out of Ramona. And it's been busy the last couple of days. Probably find the same thing today as that 78 is still shut down through the San Pasquale Valley. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Musicians, what if I told you you could get an extra $600 off the Fender 50th Anniversary 57 Strat. And you don't. Hey, keep your cash. $600 off? Are you serious? As a heart attack. It's Guitar Center's Don't Pay Till 2009 Financing Kickoff. And that means nope. $50 off all Gibson and Epiphone guitars $199 or more. Whoa! Plus, want to see Led Zeppelin in London? Yeah! Go to GuitarCenter.com for details. And get this. Put things off. I did put things off until the last minute. Save that quote. I don't often
got ideas, man. They're worth money. Save that clip. We're back broadcasting live at Qualcomm Stadium section F2. Come donate money. That's what we're doing out here today for the Big Fire Relief Fund. Mikey on TV right now. Watch out. If you've got the radio on and you're near a television set, turn on Fox 6 right now because Mikey's on live on Fox 6 right now in the morning. We can see him, Sean. It's pretty hysterical. This is so funny. I wish I could see the television feed of it. Rob, seriously, go run behind him. Seriously, go run behind him. Fox being cool. Why are we going to pull shenanigans? It's not shenanigans. It's funny. Having a clown run behind a live broadcast is a shenanigans. He's making his way over there.
He's making his way over there. We're never going to be allowed back on Pop 6 again. He's about to make his maneuver. And here he goes. He's behind the TV set right now. You can see him. Mike is not going to go. He just made a laugh, though. I want him to actually stand behind there. Oh, you guys are dicks. Hey, Rob. Go stand there. Go. Yell out Go Socks. No. Oh, no. Now the P1s are marching behind Mikey with the P1 Army signs. See where you started, Eddie? Great. I've created chaos. Ruining our relationship. I've created chaos. Oh, no. This is bad. Relationship officially ruined. This is really bad. Okay, the P1 Army has now gone behind Fox 6, and they have homemade signs that they're holding up, and I don't know. I can't. Mikey hasn't acknowledged. There he is. Mikey finally saw him. Rob's out there with a mic. I got a mic. He's giving the thumbs up, so that's good. This is awesome. Dude, you're on TV. Dude, I'm trying to wave to everybody I know. Gabe, Al, what's up? Okay, you can give a shout-outs to your brothers. Oh, sorry. All right, Eddie. Yeah. Hey, now I'm giving you a shout-out on TV. Okay, good. Never mind. Do it. Okay, the live shot is over. Oh, that's weird that they cut the live shot. Almost got hit by a car. That was wonderful. Yeah, watch out, Rob. See, these cars coming through. They're donating money. That's the whole point. That was great. We just created a scene.
That was so stupid. And you know, Sean, we were talking about getting on the Today Show. Yeah, yeah. Well, it makes more sense to be live locally. Oh, I could agree more. Yeah, and they had P1 site signs. Yeah. So that just got a bunch of publicity for free. That was pretty awesome, guys. Nice work. Horrible. I'm sorry, Mike. I was no part of that. Whoa. You said you wanted it to be like the Today Show, right? Oh, you can't hear me yet. That was awesome. That was awesome. Hopefully somebody taped that and sent it to us. It was like the Today Show. How perfect was that? Hey, listen. Imagine if it... Just jump on the other one. Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? Yeah. If we could get it done on a local basis here in San Diego, imagine when we get it on the Today Show and the billions of people see it. That was awesome. That was pretty cool. That was horrible. Well, where are we? So what do we got? I'm back at the booth. And wait until you guys see that. Eddie, you were on with me. I don't know if you know that. What do you mean? Well, we had the P1 sign that had you digging in. Yes! San Diego got to see you eating as well. Oh, that's perfect. Which is pretty cool. Well, yeah. Oh, I'm used to being on TV. Well, yes, that is true. I probably was very comfortable.
It was a picture of you. And did you notice Rob first run through this? He just ran through it. Well, he ran through screaming, yeah, Mikey shit. And at first, at first, I was like really embarrassed and humiliated because I'm thinking to myself, well, here's an opportunity to be on the air and actually be seen as something respectable. Thank you. And, you know, like we're not just a bunch of clowns. I know the rap on rock radio and the Mikey shows were clowns. Right. And so, you know, won't it be great to actually be seen as something legitimate? And then this clown goes running in the background going, Mikey show. I wanted him to do it nude, but he wouldn't do it. Yeah. And you know what, dude? It was funny because I had no idea who it was. And Mark Bailey from Channel 6 who's interviewing me, he goes, that was B-Rob. It took him recognizing it. And then I'm like, oh, no. I hope that everybody doesn't come behind the shot with signs. And Mark Bailey goes, hey, you guys with signs, come in here, get the shot. Oh, no. I was like, oh, that's great. That is fantastic. That's unbelievable. Well, listen, I have a feeling they're going to do it again. Yeah. And so next time, I think that you and Sky should go represent. Okay. And we'll have you guys on.
We'll say we're like the husband and wife team of the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Call yourselves Jagger and Christy. Okay, we will. I'm Christy. Anyway, it's going to be great. You can check out Channel 6. We'll kind of be on throughout the morning. That was awesome. We're raising money, man. Come on out here and donate some dough. Yeah, fall calm. Get out here, peoples. Joe Rogan's showing up just after 7 o'clock. Mayor Sanders is going to be stopping by at some point this morning. The cool thing is, and I think we mentioned this once, but I want to mention again, there is a way for you to park and come actually hang out under this tent that we have. There are seats. There's a big bar set up. It's the same set up that they have for Eddie when he does the pregame show on Sunday. So there's couches. There's plenty of room for you to hang out with us this morning and make it a hang. It's not just like you have to drive by and leave. You can come and hang. So that's what we're encouraging people to do. Park, get out, come hang with us. You can come back, Rob. I kind of like it out here. I was going to do the show from the couch. Sideline reporter. Yeah, our correspondent out in the field. The roving reporter. I love it. I love it. So you're basically taking a nap like every day on the show. You got it. All right. Sounds good, Rob. Keep doing what you do. For those of you that didn't hear yesterday, Boston Rob. Announce it.
got his results back, and is not the father of anybody's baby. Well, that we know of. But the bad news is he has herpes. I think we all knew that, though. It turns out that he's sterile. So there's good news and bad news. Weird. What's the bad news? Where is my little news sheets, guy? I'm all discombobulated. Okay, here we go. Let's talk about some stuff. What stuff? Let's see what stuff is happening. Oh, by the way, not a bad weekend this weekend in terms of football, right, Eddie? Dude, seriously, make whatever arrangements you have to make with the wife and get the kids out of the house. Go to Legoland, whatever. Hang out for the day. But you need to set it up from, I'm serious, 10 o'clock, because that's Chargers-Vikings. Right. That's an early game this week. Right. night time, 9 o'clock at night, because you've got Chargers-Vikings first, then the biggest game of the year, the two undefeateds, the Patriots and the Colts at 1 o'clock. Which, by the way, they're calling Super Bowl 41 and a half. Yeah. So ridiculous. All right. And then even the night game's a good one. You've got the Eagles and Cowboys. So that sexy Tony Romo. I can't get enough of him. That's going to be great. That's going to be great. So Sunday is...
a football fan's extravaganza. For sure. What other stuff is going on in sports? Barry Bond says that he's going to boycott the Hall of Fame if the ball has an asterisk on it. Yeah, if that ball shows up at the Hall of Fame with an asterisk on it, he says he will not show up. He will never step foot in that Hall of Fame ever. Well, what I think that a reporter should do is allow him to say that and then say, well, Barry, why? I would love to hear him respond to why he doesn't like that. He says that it loses the integrity of the game and blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, yeah, there's an argument to be made. And then he tore the reporter's head off. Literally off the body. And then destroyed the city of Nagasaki. Yes, stomping on buildings. The Chicago Bulls say that trade talks for Kobe have been kind of put to rest. Yeah, the general manager, John Paxton, came out and said, you know what, right now we just need to focus on the season and all this Kobe Bryant trade talk is a distraction, so we're going to put it to rest right now. He didn't necessarily say that it's over, but he said right now we're putting it to rest. Eddie, how much does Joe Torre...
being named the manager of the Dodgers, how much does it actually affect wins for the team in the end? When you think of Bill Belichick, that guy's just got a proven track record. That guy just wins. I don't necessarily think from an X's and O's standpoint it's going to add a lot, but I think as a team, almost team morale type of a thing, it's going to add a lot because you're basically going out and saying, you know what? Joe Torre, you won all these championships. You know that you're one of the big names in baseball. And the team went out to get this guy. So to me, I think that adds a lot in terms of morale. But as far as X's and O's, I don't know that Joe Torre is like the greatest coach ever. I mean, he sits there sipping coffee during the game. I mean, you know, sometimes nodding off. So I don't know that he's the greatest manager. That sounds like Rob. Yeah, it is. He's very similar. Oh, wait. Don't compare me to Torrey. Drayton Florence, here locally with the Chargers, was fined $15,000 for that hit he threw on Matt Schaub in Sunday's game. Yeah. So, you know, the league deemed it obviously illegal. Illegal shot to the head. And Matt Schaub is actually going to miss the game this week because he got a concussion from it. So Sage Rosenfels.
fantasy football fans is going to be starting. Future Hall of Famer. Obviously. Wow. Okay, so here's another one. The hits keep getting better. Is that the way the phrase goes? The hits keep getting better? I've never heard that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's one I just made up. The hits keep coming? Whatever. Oh, I've heard that. Tell me if you guys think this is creepy. Huh? Miley Cyrus has signed... Miley Cyrus. This is Hannah Montana. Yeah. Billy... Billy Joe Cyrus' kid. Billy Ray. Yeah, Billy Joe. Quite the words. Billy Joe. Miley Cyrus signed a contract with her parents saying that she won't move out of the house until she's 20. Whoa. Is that creepy? What? Yeah, it is very creepy. She said, because I guess her parents were concerned that as soon as she turned 18, she would move out. I mean, obviously, she's got plenty of money coming in. She can support herself. So she said that she got her own room with her own sitting area in her parents' house, and then she agreed not to move out of the house. What are they going to do? Sue her if she does? Until she's 20. Well, if she was my daughter, I would.
Sign this contract, lady. So what are they afraid of? She seems like a very wholesome girl. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. It doesn't specifically say. You know those Disney kids. So did Vanessa Hudgens. Right, but when you're young and you have a lot of money and a lot of influence. Actually, wasn't Britney a singer when she was a kid? Yeah, she was on the Disney Mouseketeer thing. Yep, Mickey Mouse Club. Justin Timberlake was on that. Christina Aguilera. Wow, Disney kids grow up to really want to shake it. Yeah, and make some big money. So, you know, her parents just want to keep her as safe as long as possible. There's people walking by just screaming. That's awesome. We are located in Section F2 at Qualcomm. We're raising money for fire relief and would love to have P1s drive by here if you can this morning. Come on down. The time change, by the way, is this weekend. Yes. So people know. Yes. It's going to happen on Sunday morning at 2 a.m. We fall back. So we get an extra hour of sleep, right? Nice. For me, it's always a pain. For most people, we really like it. Yeah, most people really like it. I like it better when we jump ahead. Are you kidding me? I like to lose the hour. Who are you? You know why? It's an extra hour of boredom for me. Because you know me, I wake up no matter what, 4 o'clock in the morning, my eyes bling open, I can't help it. Now it's 3 o'clock in the morning. Does your body slowly adjust?
No. Not the whole time? No, I'm still on the 1976 time change. Wow. Really weird. Figure it out. Oh, my gosh. You know what we've got to put on the website? That thing that I sent you guys? Did you see the JCPenney catalog? That's hysterical. Sean, did you see the JCPenney catalog? Yeah, man. That was awesome. Can you put it on MikeyShow.com? Yeah, of course. This guy, it's just this random guy. He said that he was cleaning out his grandpa's attic, and he found a JCPenney catalog from the 70s. He does commentary on the JCPenney catalog. And every picture of a kid was me, for sure. And humiliating. It's pretty funny, so you've got to see that. We'll put it up there pretty soon. Is it time to take a break or we still have time? You've got a couple minutes. Okay, cool. The Hollywood writers are about to strike. And this is turning into a big thing because everybody that loves TV knows that it's going to be a real big deal. But they're about to strike. And do you know what kind of TV shows we're talking or any of that? Well, these are basically the Hollywood writers. They're union. All of them. All of them. So it's any TV show or anything on television? It's a union. So it's like whoever is in, you know, and you have to be in the union to write for these shows.
So that's why they're trying to make up all these new reality shows because most reality shows don't need writers. Right. Yeah, so they say if they do strike, because basically the contract expired on Halloween, midnight on Halloween, the contract expired. And so they definitely say they're going to strike. They just haven't set the date to start the strike. But the shows that will be really affected like immediately by it are the late night talk shows. Because the sitcoms and stuff are written in advance. They're taped in advance. You know, they got quite a few in the can. But with like the Letterman's and the Leno's and the, you know, all those shows, they do it on a daily basis. Because they want to be topical. They want to talk about what's in the news that day. And if they don't have their writer showing up to work, you know, they're going to probably have to start Aaron reruns. Why are they... What do they want? What are they striking about? They want a greater share of DVD revenue and also internet and digital downloads. They want a share of that, too. Really? And obviously, the big wigs in Hollywood are saying, no way. We don't want to give you a cut of that. And they're saying, hey, we do this work. Why shouldn't we get a cut of this? I can agree with that. Yeah. I mean, the company's making money off it, so why don't these people get a little chunk? This is their work. This is their art. Fight the man, Sky. That's what I'm talking about.
AIDS quilt. Wait, what? Sky's wearing an AIDS quilt today. I'm not wearing an AIDS quilt. Will you stop saying that? You're clearly wearing an AIDS quilt. No, it's a skirt. It's kind of a hippie, kind of patchwork skirt, but no, it's not an AIDS quilt. Definitely hippie-ish. So you're saying you don't support people with AIDS? Well, no, I'm not saying that at all. Why do you hate people with AIDS, Sky? No, I'm not. saying that at all. They're people too. Monster. They're people too. I love everybody. Really messed up. I'm just saying this is not an AIDS quilt that I wrapped around my waist. I hope management doesn't get in like really mad at you. And then do you see the top? This is the weirdest outfit I've ever seen. Can we see? She's got her cereal port. Free swag shirt. Oh, come on, Sky. It's comfy and it matches. Where are we? What do you want? It's comfy and it matches. Go out and buy a black t-shirt. Why? Walmart, four bucks. Why? It's like, seriously. What's wrong with this one? It's comfortable. It says cereal port on it. It fits well and it matches. Are you offended by cereal port? No, but it's just odd. Well, you're odd. You've never been there. I've met the people.
I mean, if you were promoting it, I'd be like, hey, cool, but you've never even been there. They visit us. Once. All right. It was a lovely visit. I now have connectivity, so I'm starting to feel a little more normal. I have connectivity. Nice. I have my audio now. I'm starting to feel like a normal person. Yeah, you can. very out of sorts without your internet this morning. I'm so out of it, man. I'm so out of it. So, alright, let's do this. We'll take a quick time out and when we come back, more from Qualcomm Stadium where we're broadcasting for fire relief and we want everybody to come down here. The mayor's going to stop by next. Cool. Awesome. Mayor Sanders will come by and we'll ask him questions about where we are as a city in terms of this fire and all that stuff. So don't go anywhere. We'll be back. It's a Mikey show from Qualcomm. It's Rock 105.3. I love you, Michael. I I love you too. What are you even talking about? The Mikey Show. Rock 105.3. Okay, wait a minute. Come and see us. We'd love to see you. We are in Section F2. And it's a cool thing because if you drive through and you donate some money, you can also stop, come and hang out with us. It's great. So get out here and say hello.
I am being joined right now with Pete Scully, and Brian Wenger is here with us as well. And these are a couple guys from the fire department. Welcome, guys. And, hey, man, I just want to say thank you for everything that you've done for the community. Well, thank you, and we appreciate everything that's happening here because our job is almost done, but now the job recovered for everybody, and efforts like this really go a long way to help that. Now, talk to us about that, specifically about where we stand right now in terms of the fires. Where are we with them? Well, I can only speak about the Harris fire. I've been assigned to the Harris since the beginning. I was the initial attack person running operations out there, and it's actually looking really good. We're just about to wrap it up. We've still got some what we call mop up around the structures. There'll be some people out there patrolling probably through tomorrow and then just a very limited force out there. But now our job shifts to helping those communities get back together, doing what we can with our local stations to make sure that the people that we're... and unfortunately lost their houses and such, have everything they need to keep going. That's awesome. And Brian is here, too. And, Brian, same thing, were you on the Harris fire? Was that where you were mainly putting your efforts? No, we were assigned to the Witch Creek fire. Oh, okay. So we were dispatched 10 o'clock on Sunday, the 21st. Right. And it was immediate need. We responded up to Ramona Station 80. Uh-huh.
It was quite interesting trying to actually get into Ramona because everybody was being evacuated. Oh, man. So it was like swimming upstream trying to get to the station. Right. And once we got there, we were assigned to a strike team. We had folks from Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, Poway, and then ourselves. Right. And from there, we went right into battle. We had to encounter 60-mile-an-hour-plus winds. We learned real quickly our goggles were crap. Really? Since then, we've got some decent goggles, but we were just... Why? What was the deal? What was happening with the goggles that you had first? It seemed like we didn't have any eye protection at all. We had debris in our eyes, obviously smoke. Everybody encountered that, but it was to a point where we could hardly even see what we were doing. Oh, my gosh. So the goggles that you got next, were they like these sealed-on kind of deals, or how did they work? Well, the ones we have now are like motorcycle goggles. Right. Where they're designed to keep dust and that sort of thing out. Right. I kind of wish we had them then. Yeah, I bet. Of course. I bet. And when you're out there and you're fighting these things, and, you know, I'll ask both of you guys this, because, you know, at the Harris and the Witch, I'm sure it was the same. When you have these 60-mile-an-hour winds blowing,
You know, when a car is traveling 60 miles an hour, it moves 60 miles in one hour. What about a fire? Does it actually move at that speed if that's what the wind force is? Well, what the fire does is the flame front, if you will, the actual edge of the fire doesn't move quite that fast, but what it does is it throws spot fires. It ignites fires way out ahead of it. On the Harris fire, we had fires half, three-quarters of a mile ahead of the main fire starting. What you end up with is a fire that's moving so fast, there's virtually nothing you can do to stop it. In fact, on the Harris fire, early on, we realized that we had a fire we weren't going to be able to control, and we were trying to protect structures and such. And with the winds that we had, we quickly realized that we were going to have limited success protecting structures, so we switched to just ensuring evacuations. Unfortunately, on the Harris fire early on, we had a burn over involving some civilians. And one of our engine crews was attempting to rescue them. There was at least one fatality. We ended up flying five people to the burn ward. Four of them were our firefighters. And from that point on, we switched to just making sure people were getting out of their houses, protecting houses where we could. We had some successes. Unfortunately, we weren't 100% successful. And we continued to have injuries throughout the day and throughout the night.
with the migrants that were traveling through the Route in the Brush. I think we ended up transporting 17 people to the burn ward in that first 24-hour period. So it was pretty tragic. Guys, we do owe you a great deal of gratitude. Thank you so much for everything that you've done. Your heroes. Pete Scully, Brian Wenger, thank you so much for coming and joining us this morning. We really appreciate it. And we'd like to, again, thank the community of San Diego for everything it's done for the burn victims. We'd like to thank the people themselves for working with us. All I can say is I'm really impressed with the resilience of the people whose houses burned. We've been out there in the communities, and they're thanking us. Their house burned down, and they're still thanking us. All I can say is we did everything we could for them, and we'll be there to help them as much as we can. Thank you very much. We appreciate it. We're being joined now also by Mayor Sanders, and it's really awesome to have you here. Good morning. Good morning. I am a big supporter of yours, and I think you've done a great job since you've stepped in as mayor. My heart goes out to you because here you are, and you're not that far into the thing, and you've got to deal with this. What's it been like for you, and what is your daily life?
all about during something like this? Well, it's really not about me. It's about the victims and the people who have had to evacuate and the people who have been burned out. Long days for everybody. Long days for staff. Specifically for a mayor, what's your responsibilities during this? I think what my responsibility is during an emergency like this is to communicate directly with the public, to set the tone for all the city staff, and to really let people know in San Diego. how we're moving forward and what we intend on doing. And we've been going out with community forums in Rancho Bernardo. We had one Monday night and last night to tell them what's going to be available to them, to tell them how we'll be working with them. We announced our debris removal plan so that every lot in Rancho Bernardo will be cleared off by about December 20th, maybe before Christmas. Wow. So that people can get back to normal. They don't have to smell the burnt smoke every day. They don't have to have ash in all over their yards, and then they can start rebuilding. And we've also promised them that within about seven days on most building permits, they'll have the building permit turned around, and they can literally get it to a contractor and start rebuilding. Were you evacuated yourself? No, I live right up at the hill in Kensington, so I was one of the lucky ones that wasn't. But, you know, I had my brother-in-law and sister living with us for a while. They live up in Fallbrook.
You know, I really drew everybody in San Diego closer. It was kind of nice having family at the house when I got home at night to be able to talk to them. You know, you talk to so many people all over San Diego, and they became almost one large family, especially here at Qualcomm and the other evacuation centers. Now, Mayor Sanders, we're talking to Mayor Sanders right now, and Mayor Sanders, for people that are listening right now that are kind of on the fence, should I go out there this morning? I really want to get to work. What would you say to people? to get them out here? Well, one of the things that I've noticed, everybody wants to play a part in the recovery. That's what we saw here with all the donations. Everybody gets a chance this morning to feel like they're playing a part by helping to rebuild lives and rebuild the fabric of the community. And by coming down here, which takes you five minutes out of your way. You get to feel good for the rest of the day about donating a small amount, a large amount, whatever you can afford. And that's going to go to helping this fire recovery. Well, listen, we appreciate you taking the time out of your day. We know that you're busy, and we appreciate you coming by and talking to us for a little bit. Well, thank you for doing this and for getting so many of your listeners down here. That's a great thing. Absolutely. Thank you very much. It's P1, Mayor Sanders. Oh, there it is. He's a listener. He's a listener.
There you go. Thank you very much. We appreciate it, Mayor Sanders. We appreciate it. You're welcome. We're going to be talking to some other people that have been, in one way or another, affected or directly have helped and lent a hand in getting this thing done. And so we'll be doing that a little bit later on. You talk about a production out here. I mean, this is, in terms of scale, what we got going on out here is nuts. Ashley just showed up. It's awesome. It's the best. It's gigantic. It's cute. So we would love to have people, like Mayor Sanders said, if you're driving by. Yeah. It's very easy to just take five minutes, come in, drop a couple bucks off, and be on your way. If you don't, you may be a Nazi. That's true. I did read that this morning. That's right. That was a top story on CNN.com. It's true. And so stop by out here. It's pretty cool. We got a lot of the big time P1s are out here. Guys, of course, from P1s. Hall of Fame Central. The Hall of Fame Central. Awesome. We got all the guys from P1 Cider out here. We got P1 Detail playing ping pong. We got all kinds of people out and milling around. We even got friends from the Bay Area that we knew that are living down here and working down here now. So it's pretty cool, man. F2, Qualcomm. Come see us. We'll be back. It's a Mikey show. Altima from Massey Nissan, and the girls and I decided it was time for a little road trip. Vegas, here we come. In the strip ride, windows dip-pumpin', and as we roll up to the light, I look to my left and see what had to be the hottest guy in Vegas. So I give my Altima's powerful engine a little res, just to let him know I'm there. And he turns his head my way, smiles, and says, Hey ladies, why don't you pull over and hop in my ride? Hop in his ride? Yeah, I don't think so. Nobody tells an Altima girl to get out of the driver's seat. Step out of the ordinary with a new Altima sedan from Massey Nissan. Hour and plenty of room for all your friends. And the new Altimas in stock. All Massey value priced for big savings. Come test drive a new Altima today. All six Massey Nissan locations. The ride is getting pretty busy right now out of our South Bay, especially both the 5 and 805 northbound jammed up out of Chula Vista up to National City.
The 5 freeway stays slow all the way into downtown. There was an earlier accident. North 5 right at that 163 into downtown S-Curve caught up with the commute and just made that freeway toast pretty much. Northbound 805 extends with the brake lights pretty solid here all the way into North Park. And now developing again out of Kearney Mesa, heading up over to 52. Because that 5 freeway is so busy, that's really keeping the westbound 94 very tough here. That's exactly as well. Pretty much Federal Boulevard, pretty solid all the way to downtown. Westbound 8's not too bad. A brief delay here from Jackson Drive in towards Lake Murray, and then you're good to go. South 15, very heavy, though, out of Escondido, up to 78 to Via Rancho Parkway. Some reduced speeds again into Rancho Bernardo. And the coaster ride, South Bond 5 has brake lights out of Encinitas down towards Manchester in the Cardiff area. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Live at Qualcomm, and Joe Rogan is in the house, man. What's up? That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. Joe, I got to tell you, man, it's going to be great. First of all, Joe is performing tonight, and extremely classy move, bro. Extremely classy move, what you're doing. You're going to donate your side of the proceeds to people that were affected by the fire, and that's awesome, man. Well, you know, I love San Diego and I don't get here that often. And when the fires happen, I was like, man, I thought about canceling. I'm like, I don't want to come down here and do a show. It just seems so stupid. But then I thought about it. I'm like, well, you know, maybe we could do both, you know, and have a show like, you know, have it help and have it, you know, benefit all the people in the community and get people to laugh a little and, you know, do some good, you know. So I just figured I'd just donate all my money. Something tells me that you don't have this happen to you. But every time I see you. I don't know if you have this happen with celebrities or famous people, but every time I see you, I'm always like, that's a famous person. Every time you walk in, I'm like, hey, that guy's a celebrity. You live in LA, so you see celebrities all the time. Do you ever still have that thing of like, whoa, that's Madonna sitting there having coffee? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, oh, look, that's Woody Harrelson. Damn. For real? The craziest thing is when I go, hey, Joe. I'm like, damn, he knows me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, what's up, Woody? What's up, Woody?
That's got to be a trip. Hey, we got all kinds of stuff to talk to you about. First of all, the fact that we're doing this thing to try to raise some money for people that were affected. You have your show tonight at 4th and B, and I want to make sure we fill every single inch of space in that place that we can tonight. And I also want to talk some UFC. Sure. We'll talk about everything we want. We had Brandon Vera come into the studio earlier in the week, and he had his big old cast on his hand. and it was a trip, man, so I want to get into all the Brandon Vera talk, and I want to know what you think it means for him in terms of where is he going to go now. But first things first, let's talk about... Do you have any family or do you have friends that live here in San Diego? Did you know anybody that was directly affected by it? No. I have a couple friends that live down here, but no one I know was evacuated or directly affected. But where I live, I live in Calabasas, north of L.A., and I was evacuated twice over the last three years. Really? Yeah. The fires literally came like...
20, 30 yards from my house. Really? Last one. It was pretty crazy. What do you grab, Joe? When they say pack up, what kind of stuff? Just my dogs, my computer. I videotaped everything. I walked around my house with a camera saying goodbye to everything. It's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah, it's weird. When you see the flames coming over the hill, you see them constantly, the helicopters are dropping that stuff on it, the red stuff. They're not even putting a dent in this thing. I'm like, I just got to get out of here. So what I decided, what I was going to do is I was going to have, if the house burnt to the ground, I was just going to have a fire gods party and hire some band to play like right in the ashes. Cool, have a party. One way to do it. As long as you're alive, you're fine. This isn't the Stone Age days. We got trapped by a fire and we didn't know it was coming. We know now. It's a good chance to just let go of things. But I'm in a good situation financially, so it would have been okay for me. I know a lot of other people aren't, and that's why I want to donate all my money. That's awesome. Now we got, are you, Ashley, are you going to go on the date tonight to Joe's show? Yeah. So check this out. So check this out. Hey, baby. Check this out. Ashley. Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Hey, guys.
Come on, Ashley. All right. Okay, okay, okay. Okay, okay, okay, but between you and me, who are you going with? Check this out. I got to tell you the story. Okay, okay. So yesterday, we had a listener come hang out in the studio, okay? Oh, snap. And so he's a nice-looking kid, and Ashley thought he was good-looking, and he did this move where she's in another studio, so we're separated by glass. You've seen it. You've seen it. You've been in there before. And so what he did was he got a piece of paper and he wrote, will you go to the Joe Rogan show with me? And he put a box, yes, no, or maybe, right? Whoa, he's 12. Very middle school. Okay, listen, you got to talk to his mom first before you do this. Pedophilia. Yeah, you got to get some permission first. As long as his parents are down with it, I think he'll have an open mind. It's not going to hurt the kid. So follow, so follow. It's not like a 12-year-old girl. That would be gross. But a 12-year-old boy, he can handle it. It's going to be a little shocking. He's a man by then. The little fella. Yeah, that's what I feel. Now, we got an email from this guy. There's grass on the field. Play ball. This guy writes this email, and he says, Mikey.
Very smooth of this guy. Will you go out with me? This is an email from a listener. Very smooth of this guy. Will you go out with me? Yes, no, maybe to Ashley. I loved it the first time when Owen Wilson did it in Wedding Crashers. Let me guess. Next, you told her you think that humans only use 10% of their hearts. And let me get this straight. You use stolen material to ask Ashley out. To a Joe Rogan show? Make sure you tell that to Joe when he's there. I'm sure he loves that kind of thing. Just ask Carlos Mencia. I was like, oh my, that was, by the way. I never saw Wedding Crashers. I don't remember it, but apparently he does that in Wedding Crashers. I'm like, oh my gosh, he used a stolen thing to take her to a Joe Rogan show. You're going to let that dude score with that whack stuff? That's pretty whack. I'm going to let him in that honey hole. So wait a minute. Let him in the sacred gates. So are you actually, are you guys going tonight? You're going to see Joe? Not only are we going to go tonight to see Joe. You're engaged. But you're pregnant. You're having a baby. But he's going to be stopping by later on this morning to bring me Starbucks. Oh, how cute. To keep her. All right, so Joe, the show is tonight. And what time is it? I think it's at 8 o'clock. Yeah.
At 4th and B. It's so funny. When you ask guys what time their concert is or what time their show is at, I think it's at... When they tell me. You can't worry about that stuff. If they really know, oh, for sure, at 7 o'clock, be there. We're probably going to open the doors at 6.15, shut that guy up. This show's going to be terrible. Any true performer barely knows what day it is. So, Joe, let's talk some UFC. Let's talk whatever you want. Okay, so what is next for Brandon Vera? After he lost this fight, he's a local boy, but after he lost this fight, what will be next? Well, he broke his hand in the first round, so, you know, like, it's hard to, like, gauge where he stands in the heavyweight division. That was, like, his first really high-profile, big-name opponent, you know. His biggest name before that was, like, Asuario Silva, you know, who's, like, you know, a lower-tier heavyweight. So, you know, I think, you know, we have to see him fight another heavyweight once his hand heals up. But, man, he would... Just dominate at 205. I don't know why he doesn't want to lay off the ice cream a little bit. So many of these guys in the light heavyweight division are bigger than Brandon before he cuts weight. He just likes eating whatever he wants. He looks so thin, though. When he stands, he looks like a thin guy. Yeah, there's guys like Brock Lesnar, the WWE guy that the UFC just signed. What's up with that, Joe? Enormous!
He's a gorilla. That's a human silverback. When you interviewed Brock in the last show, and he put his hands around your neck, I thought I felt like this man tension a little bit. Like, ooh, dude, don't do that. I've had dinner with that guy. He's really cool. So you were cool with that? Yeah, really cool guy. Real friendly guy. It's going to be interesting to see if he can actually make the transition. Are you getting the feeling that this is getting a little... too WWE-ish, or do you think that he's a legit guy? Oh, well, he's going to have to be legit because they're going to put him in there with some real dudes. They might put him in there with Noguera or somebody else, man. They're going to put him in there with a tough dude. I don't know who his first fight's going to be. His first fight will probably be with a B-level UFC heavyweight, you know, like someone just below the top tier, like Heath Herring or someone like that, and they'll test him with that dude, and then it's right to the wolves, bitch. They're going to throw him to the top dudes, you know, so it's going to be hard. No, there's no easy fights anymore. in the UFC. And they decided that when, you know, especially when they had that first Cro Cop fight, you know, he fought that dude, Eddie Sanchez, and he looked like crap, and then he got KO'd in his next fight. They're like, you know what? Forget these easy fights. We can't give anybody any easy fights anymore. So from now on, so he's going in right to the fire. Do you think that it'll be long before we hear that Randy Couture has to
be back involved in MMA and this acting thing? I don't know, man. I wouldn't speculate. I'm a big fan of Randy's, and I really respect him as a man, and I don't know what this is all about. I don't like to get in a man's beeswax. It's kind of what Brandon said, too, when we asked Brandon about it. Brandon was like, what's my opinion mean about Randy Couture? It's all puzzling, and it's unfortunate. I hate when there's that kind of conflict, when I feel like it wasn't worked out enough before it all went public and hit the wall. But what do I know? I don't know anything. You know, I just hope if the guy does, I just hope it doesn't become a legal battle. That's the grossest thing. Because they'll put it, you know, courts will put him through. That'll be years of BS, you know, and red tape. And then we won't see him fight. And the dude's already 44. I mean, like, how much time is left? You know, it's like there's only a few more grains in that hourglass. You know what I mean? For real, you know. I don't know that I've ever asked you questions about, like, music, TV, stuff like that. What kind of stuff do you TiVo? Mostly like Survivor shows. Like Man Against Wild. Our favorite show. I love those shows. The Climbing Mount Everest show. I like watching dudes try to do stupid things that they're not supposed to be doing. What about books? Do you read anything you like to read? What kind of stuff? I read mostly trippy stuff.
About Mayan prophecies and psychedelic adventurers. Really? Yeah, like Terrence McKenna stuff. What's your shirt say? That's an ohm. That's supposed to be the sound made of the conception of the universe. Really? What a trip. Talk to me about music. You got an iPod? Yeah, man. What am I, a caveman? What do you got on the iPod? It's mostly filled with lectures, honestly. Is it really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Most of it is like... And it's stuff that you download from iTunes? No, most of it I get online or I get from, you know, other people that collect, you know... What kind of lectures? Yeah, like what? What kind of stuff do you like to... What do you like to listen to? Well, like I said, mostly Terrence McKenna lectures and, you know, Rupert Sheldrake and mostly evolutionary biologists. Joe Smart. There's no doubt about it. Joe Smart. People that are, like, trying to figure out, you know, what makes... the universe tick. I like memorizing stuff that smart people figure out. Wow. Such a dichotomy to Joe because he's got so many different sides to his personality which is cool. Yeah man, multifaceted. Yeah, you know. I smoke a lot of weed and I got a lot of free time. Joe, what about brothers, sisters? Do you have brothers and sisters? I have one sister who lives back in Florida.
And are you guys similar at all, or are you guys real different? No, totally, 100% opposite. Really? She's just a mom, real friendly, real nice person, normal. I'm the freak of the family. Are you really? Yeah. So Thanksgiving and Christmas, where do you do it? You like to stay here in California. I don't believe in holidays. Really? Yeah. Well, he doesn't believe in marriage either, remember? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The only time I believe in marriage is you have a baby. And then it's cool? Yeah. But then a prenup, right? Oh, hell yeah. Don't let nobody score on you like that, wide open boy. Protect yourself. Keep your hands up, your chin down. Okay. So that would mean... I mean, I heard Paul McCartney's ex-wife on the air the other day. And I wanted to cut off her neck with a rusty shovel. Cut off her other leg. I was listening to her. I was like, someone kill her quickly. Oh, no. She just listened to her talking about how much she has over him and how she's kept her mouth shut. You know he farts in his pants? What do you know, stupid? You turned down $100 million because you want more, you crazy bitch. Well, that's the thing we were talking about the other day. Her publicist just dropped her.
It's in the news today that her publicist just said, hey, listen, my job is to get you to have people like you, and I can't do it. It's impossible. She can't do it. You listen to her talking. People have no idea what I've been through. What, did you have sex with a rich, famous guy, and now you're going to make $100 million? Please tell us. Tell us about the torture. Sounds awful. There's people out there working in coal mines. Listen, man, Joe. She's whining about having sex with a beetle. Wow, you poor baby. Get her a Band-Aid and a cold beverage. Hey, listen, Joe has come strong, man. He is going to be performing tonight, and he's donating the money that he's going to make to everything that we're doing out here today, trying to help out people that were affected by the fires. And you didn't have to do it, and you did it. I thought it immediately because I thought, you know, I've got to cancel the show. It just seems so trivial to put on a comedy show. And like I said, I haven't been here in almost a year. Felt like it would be so gross. And I thought about it for another second. I'm like, no, just give all the money away. That's the best way to do it. That way it helps everybody. And people want to laugh. They kind of want to be distracted. Skye hadn't laughed for days. That's right. Can you not bring that up right now? Can you not? Five minutes into the fire, I remember Skye saying she hadn't laughed in days. It was the first time I've laughed, like, I don't know, in the past couple days.
Okay, great. It was a tough couple days. I'm not going to lie. She didn't lose her house, by the way. She didn't lose her house. Well, the fires have been going on five minutes at that point. They have not been going on five minutes, you A. But if she hadn't laughed in days, I think it was worth noting. Three years ago when we were filming Fear Factor, I was driving home on the 5, like way up north, like Lake Tijon, like that area, north of LA. And when I was driving home for like one hour, the entire right side of the highway was on fire. The entire side of the highway. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life. Everybody was driving and everybody's jaw was slapped. They were just driving like, what the hell? It just seemed complete. out of control. You expected demons on horses from the Lord of the Rings. It didn't seem real. There was so much fire. Joe Rogan is hanging with us. Speaking of your fear factor days, where's Rob? This guy right here yesterday ate mudfish. What's a mudfish? It's easily the foulest
Because he ate balut the week before. You know, balut is a delicacy. My Filipino friends are always like, man, get me some balut. I'll eat that. Shut up. They love it. Filipinos love balut. It's like a delicacy. Dude, we went to an Asian market, and we got this jar of this stuff called mudfish, and it's fermented fish. Well, it's a fish, first off. It's a fish that no one would eat regularly. It's not like tuna or something like that. It's like the bottom of the barrel. Silly Americans. Right? No one would eat. Bottom of the barrel. But yet they sell it. Dude, I'm telling you, we had to clear out the studio, spray Lysol, put a fan in there. All the other radio stations were mad. It was the most foul, disgusting fish ever. And I thought, I wonder if Joe is going to know about that stuff because it was so gross that I would think the producers of Fear Factor were like, well, it's too gross. Well, they did use, there was a Vietnamese fish sauce. It was a brown sauce they used to pour. It stunk so bad that you used to pour it in a lot of food. To make it grosser. It was real. But to Vietnamese people who enjoy it, it's a delicacy. It was a horrible, rancid smell. But for whatever, you know. Do you still keep in touch with, what was his name, Eddie? Jackson from Dallas that was on Fear Factor. Jackson and Monica. Jackson and Monica. Yeah, yeah. They came to see me when I was in Austin about six months ago. That's cool, man. Yeah, yeah. I married those people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's crazy. They were a pretty cool couple. I became an ordained minister online. Right, right, right. That's so funny. I'm a minister. Hey, listen.
Actually, so if it works out. I would so have you marry me. Let's get this party started, baby. Like my friend Joey Diaz says, if you're going to walk on ice, you might as well dance. It's time to get married. Let's do it. Joe, thank you so much for everything you're doing, man. Can't wait to see you tonight. It's going to be 4th and B Joe Rogan tonight and all his proceeds are going to people that were affected by the fires. Joe, thank you so much, man. Thank you for having me, man. Always fun. It's a Mikey show. We'll be back. It's Rock 105.3. Podcasts of the Mikey Show at rock1053.com. LOL. Musicians. Featuring Bizarre Foods with Boston Rob. Walk me through this, Eddie. You're okay, bro. You're okay. Get it down and it's over. But Eddie, I want to know what... It only happens on the Mikey Show. Welcome back. We are live at Qualcomm Stadium and helping to raise money for people who are affected by the fires. It is 736. Authorities are warning people in East County about a man who's pulling people over and pretending to be a cop. Joe Torrey named the new manager of the L.A. Dodgers. Oh, there it is. We knew it was coming, and there's the official word of it. More reason to hate him. Okay, so here's the deal. What, Ashley?
Do you know Joe Rogan just smelled my armpit? Oh, my. That is fear factor. Yes, it is. Because I was telling him about my sweat problem, and I showed him, and he didn't even care. He's like, what's the big deal? And then he's like, well, unless it smells. Oh, here he comes. So he smelled it, and he's like, oh, you're good. He's like, you're good. I'm like, thank you. I smelled it and I gave her the thumbs up. I said, you don't stink. You're all right. It's just a little water. It's part of your body. She's tried everything. A little leaks out in the armpit area, you're fine. That's my boy. She's tried everything. Nothing's worked. I'm going to the doctor today. Way better to be too wet than to be too dry. Holla. All right. Now we've been talking about this. We've been talking about this all week. We promised you Sky in concert live at the Q. Oh. But let me explain. But let me explain. But let me explain. Explain. Basically, what's going on is that on Monday morning, we're going to have a friend of ours, Joe Bricado. He's got a record out right now called Free. And you get it on iTunes. He's coming in. He's going to do two songs. One of the songs is a duet. And the song that is a duet is called Let It Be Me.
And what we're going to do is we are going to find a female P1 in our listening audience that is willing to come in on Monday morning, sit in with Joe and sing it live on the air. And so basically what we've done is we've got some ladies lined up on the phone right now and we are going to talk to these ladies and we are going to have what they've done is they've gone to Mikey show.com. They've heard the song. They have they have read. the lyrics to the song, and they're going to sing it acapella. And whoever sings... Yeah, Ella, Ella, Ella, Ella, Ella. And whoever sings it the best is going to win the opportunity to be able to come in on Monday and sing it. Sky, you just gave me a look. I don't know what you were saying, though. Well, first of all, I think I've lost my voice. Oh, get out of here. You haven't lost your voice. You would have wanted to go home if that was the case. But secondly, you just sounded fine. She just gave Eddie the bird for the record. But secondly, what is this acapella you speak of? Uh-oh. Acapella? Does she not know what that word is? No, I know what it means. I was not informed. That's how we were singing. I thought we were singing along with the track. We've been singing on the air. That's all we've said on the air. You've never once said that. I've never once heard acapella. What are you talking about? I've never heard acapella. I can't do an acapella. Well, you're going to. Well, no, I'm not because I can't.
Sky, you have to try. Yeah, you got to get that. You have to try. You have your singing shirt on. I mean, is she kidding right now? You can, Sky. No, she isn't. You absolutely can't. I've never heard that we were doing this acapella. What did you think? People were going to sing over the track? Yeah, that's how we always do it. Whenever we do a Joe Bricado bit? Yeah. Talking about Mikey Idol is what I'm talking about, and that's how we roll. This isn't Mikey Idol, homie. Yeah, the idea is that the girls were going to be... Anytime I sing on the Mikey show, I sing over the track. That's what my rider demands, and you'll have to speak with my agent otherwise. Sky, I think absolutely you can rise to the occasion, to the challenge, and you can sing beautifully. I can't. She'll do it. You're a Sky handler. You can do it. Handle Sky. Do it. Walk her through it, Eddie. That's your big speech. You're going to do it. You're going to do it. You'll be fine. This is going to be a train wreck. No, you're going to do great. Well, Skye, the idea is that the girls will call into the show and they're just going to sing acapella, the female part. And that's what we were going to do. Fine. Eddie, inspire her to do it. You're going to do great. Do it. How is that inspirational to me? Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.
I don't even know what to say. You want a countdown or how do you want this to roll? I don't even know what to say right now. Eddie's a sky handler. Eddie handler. He's not handling it very well. He's handling it terribly. I'm in the middle of a downward spiral right now. She's spiraling downward. Okay, listen. It's not that big of a deal. It's a couple of sentences. It's not that busy, man. But I don't know the phrasing. What do you mean you don't know the phrasing? What does that even mean? That's not even a term. Like the tempo of the song, the way things are supposed to be phrased. Should we let her do it over the song? And then everybody else can do it acapella. Yeah. Because I have like no... What are we going to do? Argue for 20 minutes? Yeah, I think we should. Play it. Play Let It Be Me. It's on the bar. It's on button. It's on the first one, whatever that's called. Page one. It's on the first page, but it's on the one. It's on the first page next to the pink. I don't know any of this. Next to the pink bed. Seriously. It's on the top. Let It Be Me. You'll see it. In the middle of the page on the top. Let It Be Me. Here we go. Are you ready, guys? Am I doing this? Yes. Who comes to this? Get ready.
I apologize, everyone. I apologize. For the fire victims. That's right. Do it for the fire victims. Oh, my gosh. Anybody got lighter? Oh, I want to die. Here we go. This is going to be fun. For the fire victims, everyone. I can make you smile. I understand you. Round of applause, ladies and gentlemen. What are you so worried about? That's it. You did a good job. Okay, now acapella. The rest of the song. Well, what we're going to do is we're now going to go to the phone lines. Oh, that's awesome. Sky showed them how to do it. That's all they got to sing. They just got to sing that chunk. They will sound great now. They just have to sing that chunk. Now, Boston Rob did some auditions yesterday, right, Boston Rob? Yeah, it was fun. So he selected, basically Boston Rob selected five girls that were really, really good and stood out because we got...
An overwhelming response of how many girls wanted to come on and do it. Good job, Sky. You did good. Thank you. We got an overwhelming response of how many women wanted to come on and do this. And so we're going to listen to five of them right now. And then Randy, Pauler, and Simon will decide who the winner is. So what we'll do is we'll hear them sing. We'll take a break, come back, and tell you who's coming in on Monday and who is going to be singing. Let's go to line one right now. This is P1 Jenny. Jenny, are you there? Yes, I'm here. And you can hear me fine and everything, right? Yeah, it's a little low, but I can hear you pretty good. Well, I'm actually talking all the way from Qualcomm Stadium to your house. And so that's why it is harder for me to hear. She can hear Sky perfectly, though. Vulnerable to the audience, and you're going to come attack me right now? Great one, Rob. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Sky. Now, P1 Jenny, first of all, what do you think of the song? Oh, I think it's great. I think I love his voice. Yeah, he's got an incredible voice, and we'd love to give you the opportunity to be singing with him on Monday. All you have to do is the part that you heard Sky do. You just have to sing acapella, the part that you heard her singing, and you can start anytime you'd like. Okay, so no intro, just do what I... Do what you do. Do the female part. It's the part that starts with, I can make you smile. Ready? Yep.
I can make you smile. If I understand you. Like no other woman can do. Who set you free? Let it be me. Let it be me. I got chills. I got chills. I got chills. You are crazy. Holy crap. Jenny, you did real good. All the other gals that have to go after you are going to have to really step their game up. What a way to start the show tonight, huh, guys? That was good. That was real good. Well, let's put you on hold. Let's go through them, and then Randy and Simon and Paul will do it all afterwards. So let's put you on hold. Jenny, great job. Okay, next up is line two. We got P1 Bronwyn. And Bronwyn, you called in yesterday and told us you were going to be doing this. And so are you ready to go? I'm ready.
Now, you heard pretty stiff competition here already. I got it. All right, all right. Now, you know what part you're singing, right? Yes. Okay, anytime you're ready, take it away. Okay, here I go. I can make you smile. Yes, I understand you. And I will talk like no other woman. Who set you free? Let it be me. Let it be. Oh, wow. We've got a real competition here. They're awesome. They're very good. They're very, very good. That was a great job, Bronwyn. Thank you. We're going to put you on hold. Hang on a second, okay? No sky, but not bad. Oh, stop it. Well, who is? Good point. Now, next up, let's go to line three. P1 Steph, are you there? Hey, what's up, guys? Not too much. Now, you've been studying the song? Studying it hard. You'd be willing to come in on Monday morning and sing this with Joe Braccato? It would be one of the biggest honors ever.
Wow. Cool. All right. Well, you know what to do. Anytime you're ready, take it away. Thanks. Hope my tone's okay, guys. I hope so, too. Okay. I can make you smile. Yes, I understand you. And I will comfort you like no other woman can do who set you free. Let it be me. Let it be me. Very good. Very nice. She's got a real strong voice. You can tell that it's a very strong voice. And Steph, good job. Good job. I'm going to put you on hold. Thank you very much. Thanks, guys. Now we're going to have five girls total this morning. You're going to hear Jenny, Bronwyn, Steph, Krista, and Danielle. Krista's up next on line four. Krista, can you hear me? I can. Can you hear me? I can hear you fine. And have you heard all these other girls sing? I have. You think you can stand up to what you've heard so far?
I hope so. All right, let's give it a shot anytime you're ready. I can make you smile. Yes, I understand you. And I will comfort you like no other woman can do. Who sets you free? Oh, let it be me. Oh, let it be me. Big round of applause. This is going to be tough. I got to tell you, man, me and Skye looked at each other when she did the little note change. Yeah, we were like, ooh. Everyone loves a key change. Not bad. Not bad. Just a little falsetto there on that part. I thought it sounded good there. There you go. Thank you very much. We're going to put you on hold, Krista. And last but not least, line five, Danielle, are you there? Yes, sir. Danielle, have you been practicing? Yes, I have. And you know the song pretty good? Yeah.
And you'll be able to come in on Friday morning if you kill this thing? Monday morning? Excuse me, Monday morning. Sorry, Monday morning? Yes. All right, anytime you're ready, take it away. I can make you smile. Yes, I understand you. And I will come to you like no other woman can do. Set you free. Let it be me. Let it be me. Nice. I want to say yum-o. Yeah. Hey. What? Wow. DVOO. You know it. Listen, okay, let's go ahead and put Danielle on hold as well. All right, now we got a tough decision to make here. Now, let me ask a question. Back at camp, back at the studios, is it possible for Zeth to open up a microphone so I can hear him or no? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah? Zeth, can you hear me? He's probably doing stuff on the phones, but... He'll get it. Zeth, can you hear me?
He'll Charlie Brown sashay his way into the state. Thank you. Give him a couple minutes. What up? There he is. All right, Seth. Seth. How long would it take you to be able to get something set up on the text messaging so that people can text message a person they want to vote for? Honestly, a while with how much I have going on today. Okay, well, don't worry about it. I wanted to see what the chances are. If we can't do it, that's fine. We can discuss, and plus, we have a lot of P1s out here. Make noise for yourselves. There you go. There's a lot of P1s hanging out out here. I think we're the only station with fans out here. Is that true? Yeah, no other station has listeners out hanging out. P1s are the best. Love the Army. Does every show have... There are shows out here? I think so, yeah. Okay. I'm just taking a look around. I'm trying to make sure. It's like a graveyard. Right? Except for us. We've got a party going on here. We've got a ton of P1s out here. Okay. Well, let's do this. We're going to take a break. We're going to discuss. When we come back, we're going to have a winner. Somebody is going to be coming in the studio on Monday morning and singing with Joe Bricato. Take a quick time out. When we come back, we'll announce who the winner is. 752 out here. It's a Mikey show. It's Rock 105.3.

Let it be with me. Okay. Wow. So there was a lot of discussion going on during the break. And basically what we're going to do is we are going to have a sing-off between two people. Yep. Wow. It was basically the first girl and the last girl. Okay. The first girl up was P1 Jenny and the last girl was P1 Danielle. And they were pretty much...
Neck and neck. Now, the thing is, and welcome back, by the way, it's 8 o'clock. We're out here at Qualcomm Stadium where we're asking people to come out and make donations this morning because all the money is going to go to the Fire Relief Fund, and we'd love to come have you come out. We're in Section F2. You can make a donation, park, and then come hang out with us under the tent that we're in. But we are trying to find a girl that's going to come into the studio on Monday morning and sing with our boy. Joe Bricato, live in the studio. He's got an album out. He's a friend of ours. He's just a good singer. He's not necessarily a guy that's touring stadiums or anything, but he's a great singer. He's, I think, one of the best vocalists in the country. If you have an album, to me, you're legit. Joe's got a few albums, and he's a great singer. He may like one of these girls so much, he puts them on his next record. Who knows? Which would be awesome. That's huge. How great would that be? I mean, and he's right. I mean, Eddie's right. He could fall in love and say, hey, let's go tour the country. Absolutely. Who knows? Wow. So anyway, we're going to get P1 Jenny on and P1 Danielle on because they both were the two girls that we think were the best. So first off, let's get P1 Jenny back on the line. Jenny. Jenny, are you there? Of course, Gump, anybody. We got it. We got it, Ashley. Thank you.
First of all, Jenny, congratulations for making it this fall. Wow. What we're going to do is we're going to have a sing-off between you and Danielle, and whoever does the best in this round is going to be the winner. Maybe beatbox in the middle, like Blake. Nice. All right, so Jenny, are you ready? I'm ready. All right, anytime you're ready, take it away. I can make you smile. Yes, I am. She's really good. All right, Jenny, hang on the line. We're going to put you on hold. Wow. I mean, it was so great. It was really well done. Next up, P1 Danielle. Danielle is the other semifinalist. Danielle, can you hear me? Yeah. Congratulations. You've made it this far. It's between you and Jenny.
And the cool thing about this is if the first time you had some nerves going on, the second time you can relax a little bit and just give it your all. Are you ready to go? Yes. Anytime you're ready. Okay. I can make you smile because I understand you. And I will come so like no other woman do. Who sets you free? Let it be me. Let it be me. This is going to be tough. Nice job. Nice job. Well, I believe it is time to do a little judging. What do you guys think? Yep. First of all, I want to say that at this point in the competition, these women need to bring it, and I felt both of them did. If I'm being honest, if I'm being honest, I thought that the changes that were made by Danielle were eerie. They'd
creep me out a bit. Whoa. Uh, I'm not really sure. Let me talk. Let me finish. Boo. I thought that the changes made the song something different and weird, if I'm being honest. She oversang it. I thought that Jenny did a wonderful job of, uh, reproducing the song the way it's intended. Her voice is spot on. My vote goes to Jenny. Oh. Uh, Paula. Paula. I know I'm a huge fan of Sarah and the way she sings. Sarah. Wait, who's that? Who is Sarah? The two women singing are Jenny and Danielle. I thought there were three. Didn't we just hear three? Get off the coke. Who's your vote for? Crack is whack. My vote is for Danielle. I always appreciate somebody adding their own spin and
And I believe she has a beautiful, strong voice. I appreciate a woman who has a very strong voice. I think that's a wonderful quality and says a lot about a person's personality. Says they're a beating. Opposite. Simon, what's a beating? A beating is someone who just beats you up by complaining that they've got to sing a cappella. I've never heard Simon say a beating. Anyway, Danielle, you're a beautiful woman, and I hope you win. My vote's for you. That means that it comes down to Randy. It comes down to Randy. And so, Randy, how did I do it this way? I've never gone last, dog. Just vote for Jenny, and it'll be fine, Randy. Randy, what did you think of these two girls? Well, first of all... We got a hot one here tonight. Give it up for the dog pound. Where's my dog pound at? Whisk off. Listen. Here's the deal, dog. I've worked with Mariah. I've worked with Whitney. I've worked with Christina. I used to be the bass player in Journey. How many times do we know, Randy? You've had gastric bypass. We know. To me, this came down to who sounded the most black. Wait.
And that was clearly Jenny. She is your winner here tonight. Jenny from the block. Let's get Jenny on the line. Hey, Jenny. Yeah. Jenny, good job. You are the winner, and you're going to be singing with Joe Bricado on Monday morning. Get out. That's it, man. You won. You won. Nice work. And, I mean, what's the deal? Like, have you ever sang in anything semi-professional, professional? Oh, my gosh. I sang in church, and about 10 years ago, I sang with a jazz guitarist right outside of Nashville for about a year. Yeah, Jenny, where are you from? I do jazz flute. I'm from a little small town in Tennessee called McMinnville. There you go. I love the accent. That's money. You should pronounce your name Jenny. Okay, I thought all California's milk was local. Not quite, but we can give you a hint. The number is less than a million. Go! Gosh, I really thought all of my milk was from California. I'm going with my gut. I'm saying 0% comes from out of state. Oh, the correct answer was 20. 20% of California's milk is trucked in from who knows where. But you're not going home empty-handed. Still struggling here out of the South Bay on this 5 freeway. There's a new accident northbound 5 near E Street in the fast lane. That's biking up traffic around that in Chula Vista. Getting past that, still going to find a heavy ride from the South Bay freeway all the way into downtown. An earlier accident near the 163 in the S-curve caused that mess there. North 805 is starting to ease up a little bit. You're starting to see some better speeds in through National City. Once you get into North Park, it gets a little bit tougher.
And then slows again, heavy out of Kearney Mesa over the 52. West 94 was affected by the busy 5 freeway this morning. That's still back to big time from College Grove Way, solid all the way to downtown. Your westbound 8 ride, that is easing up a little bit. A little tight from College now, off and on towards around the 15. Slows again from 805 and towards Mission Center Road. South on 715, that's looking a little bit better as well. Some better speeds now from Auto Parkway down to Villa Rancho. Some reduced speeds again through Carmel Mountain Ranch. And things are looking much better as well on the Southbound 5 here, just a little slow from Santa Fe Drive down to Manchester. I'm McClarence on Rock 105.3. Casting from Cricket Wireless Studios. They are all out here this morning. And what we're doing is asking people to drive through Qualcomm and donate money. It's all going to the Fire Relief Fund. And we're going to be out here pretty much, and I say we, meaning Clear Channel is going to be out here pretty much all day long. The broadcast started this morning at 6 a.m. And it's going to go tonight until 7 p.m. And so we want to get as many people out here as we can to donate money.
We're in section F2. So when you drive through and you donate the money, you can park and they can come in and say hi to us. We're very lucky this morning. We have the chairman of County Board of Supervisors, Ron Roberts, is here with us. And Ron, thank you for stopping by and taking time. You're welcome, Mike. Nice to be here with you. Absolutely. Skye, you said that you saw him on TV yesterday. Oh, yeah. All over TV. Yeah, all over TV. Busy guy. Yeah, got a lot going on, helping out with the fires, keeping this community safe. It's awesome. Well, we're doing the rebuilding now. Yeah. And we're still in the danger period as far as fires, but we start to have focus now in a different direction, and that is helping people to get going. Yeah, I heard about the new thing with cleaning up the debris, and maybe explain that to the people, because that's a great thing you guys are doing. Well, the mayor and I were working with the state to put together a comprehensive agreement so that... For those people who would opt, instead of going out and individually contracting with somebody to come in and clear up their property, we're going to have a master agreement. We will clear off any property, whether insured or not. If it's private property, we'll get in there, clear off the debris. You don't have to worry about any of the sham contractors out there. Yeah, the shady people trying to take advantage. And one of the things that people don't realize with...
Fire debris, there can be hazardous materials in there because everything in the house burns. So a lot of hazardous stuff gets created. You have to have environmental permits and everything. We take care of that. Wow. And then the insurance companies are working with us. Basically, for those people who are insured, we present them with a bill. They'll present it to the insurance companies. But even people who aren't insured, we'll clean off your property for you. Ron, how long do you think it takes the average family? to get back on their feet in terms of having a home again? Well, you know, the average is probably well over a year, and that's the unfortunate truth. We've already issued building permits to some, so some people have already cleared off and already have their contractors and are ready to begin construction. Yeah, I mean, I saw on the news last night they were in areas of Rancho Bernardo where... And they showed what it looked like right after the fire where it just looked like a complete mess. And already you're seeing completely cleared out lots and they're ready to start the process. Yep. It's amazing. So some people will do that. Other people, especially people without insurance, they have so many obstacles in front of them. And I know for a fact there are people from four years ago.
who I know personally, who have just completed their reconstruction. Unbelievable. So you'll get some that are like jackrabbits out there, and they'll get going. And then you have others who, for one reason or another, it will take a long time. And then there are some who will not rebuild. Now, being a member of the Board of Supervisors, what's the biggest hurdle for you guys? What's been the toughest thing during this process? Most of the houses that were burned, over 60%, were in the unincorporated area that we're directly responsible for. And then we have other responsibilities that are countywide. You know, you never want to have something like this happen. But I am so proud of San Diego and the firefighters who are out here. I mean, I've tried to thank each one of them here today. They all work together. I mean, there are numerous commands. You'd have never known it. I was at the emergency operations center for many hours during this, and the things that were going on and the cooperation. So, you know, a lot went right. This is not New Orleans. You didn't see any of us getting up and whining about the federal government. We've been preparing to do this on our own. The Board of Supervisors over the last...
Four years has spent almost $120 million so that we wouldn't have the types of things that were happening last time. Communications worked absolutely flawlessly. The reverse 911, think about this, 530,000 people were evacuated. Never happened before in the United States. Never. I mean, what you've been hearing so much, by and large, and it's true, is just how well the city was prepared and how well we responded to it. Yeah, Ron, talk about the efforts here at Qualcomm even. Oh, yeah. I mean, that was an amazing thing to see. Oh, yeah. Basically, the evacuation center here, that was different from any. We had, I think at one time, about 48 evacuation centers up and operating. Qualcomm was probably the one that was unique in that whole group. But if you went out to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, if you went to any of the high schools and other places, The people's spirits were up. The operations went smoothly. I visited the Red Cross, the kitchen where they were preparing all of the food. They basically flew things in from all over the country, drove things in, and they put this together. And they had volunteers that came from all over the country, and they were here in short order. They were serving maybe up to 10,000 meals.
Per meal. It's unbelievable. Three times a day. Yeah, the numbers are absolutely staggering. I think we, you know, to put things in perspective, you know, we had a number of people that were killed. The number was relatively small in comparison to any disasters of this kind. It's unfortunate, and we, you know, we grieve for those people. We had a number of people who were hurt severely, burned severely. I visited the firefighters at the hospital who were in the Harris fire and tried to rescue some people and were burned very badly in trying to do that. You know, some of the problems we have, we want to put them in perspective. When you see what these guys are going through, you know, I've got nothing to complain about. I'm very thankful for what they've done. And I tell you, we want to do everything possible to learn from this. And it seems like you guys already have, because I know the other day we were talking about how you guys issued that statement about how you can register your cell phone number to link it to your home address. So if you do get a reverse 911 and you're not home, it'll go to your cell phone. And I'm like, that's genius. Like, I mean, you know, we're recovering from this crisis, but you guys are already making plans to make it better next time. And that's great. You know, we were, while we were recovering.
We're still, as I mentioned earlier, we're still in a highly prone danger period. They've been telling us, although it doesn't look like it right now, that somewhere between 6 o'clock tomorrow morning and noon, we're going to have high winds in the backcountry again. Your antenna goes up. So, yeah, we're plugging that for sure. Yeah, I did it. I went to the website right away and put my little cell. Alertsandiego.com. Dot org. Both of them will work. Oh, they both work. Okay, awesome. I think we registered both. Smart, very smart. But, yeah, Alertsandiego. It takes just a couple seconds. You can register at your business or your home. You know, you can put whatever address you want. And if that area is evacuated, we'll call you on your cell phone. We'll send you an email if that's what you want. That's awesome. So, you know, we're encouraging people. Please. We've had, I think, we're probably approaching maybe 50,000 people who have registered now over the last three days. Yeah, when I read about it, I emailed it to all of my loved ones to say, hey, please do this. I love you. Get registered. Well, this is a good system. These are new things that we didn't have. We could have never evacuated 560,000 people without.
without these systems that's a great thing we're talking to ron roberts who's the chairman of the board uh county board of supervisors that's a great thing about how well we responded we know as a city that when things like this happen we always improve and make it better we know living where we live this is going to happen again and we just know that we're going to be that much more prepared for it thank you so much ron for stopping by and taking the time we really appreciate it we really do thank you very much let me thank you for being out here and helping to collect this money that's going to go to people who are going to need help over the next several months. We love doing it. We really love doing it. Thank you very much. We've also got Robert Lewin and Steve Shoemaker. Thank you so much for stopping by. We have Robert Lewin and Steve Shoemaker who are here. Robert Lewin is the Deputy Incident Commander on the Harris Fire, so he knows a lot of stuff we don't know. And Steve Shoemaker's here too. He's a helicopter coordinator. And I'll tell you what, man, both of these guys, guys amazing i i first of all let me ask you um robert um robert lewin deputy incident commander of the harris fires so robert this thing that happened was uh in terms of scale and scope so huge um when is it first of all were you here during the cedar fires and were you fighting during the cedar fires during the 2003 fire siege
I was assigned to several fires. I was on the most major were the Grand Prix and the Old Fire up in San Bernardino County. Of course, those fires were devastating as well. How did they compare to the Harris Fire, the one that you worked on? Well, it's interesting you ask that because now that we have a couple days of Lowell here, we're starting to look at the comparisons between the 2003 Siege and the 2007 Siege. Of course, there are many similarities, but there's also some interesting differences. One big difference is that the 2003 siege, the fires started over a several-day period. Actually, some of them even started before the wind event started. The 2007 siege, most of the fires started in a two-day period. This caused a much different method of ramping up by the fire agencies of California. first involvement in it when were you called and what was the what was the phone call like well we're fortunate in california that uh... we have a command teams uh... these command teams consists of about forty five personnel who are on standby uh... there's two teams uh... that cal fire supervises one in the north and one in the south when the uh... harris fire started they mobilize the command team that i'm on and we were activated to go down to the harris fire we had we had our uh... team in place
late into the evening on the first day of the fire, and we took full command of the fire the next morning. Really? Okay, so that's how quickly it mobilized. And when you get there, is it as simple as, all right, we just got to get hoses to fire, and it's just that simple? Or how do you coordinate in terms of strategically trying to shut it down? Or can you, when it's this big? On any fire, we always set objectives. Those objectives are given to every firefighter on the ground. I don't know if the citizens understand that we set up an amazing process of organization when we go into a fire. We just don't willy-nilly the fire. We come in in a very organized fashion. By the next morning, we had a printed incident action plan which laid out our objectives and our strategies to every firefighter that was on the line. Now, of course, in this fire, Rather than being able to focus on perimeter control, trying to stop the spread of the fire, all our focus was on saving lives and property. Wow. Which is, I mean, when you consider what you guys do, it tells you how big it was. I mean, it was so big that you couldn't react to it the way you normally would. It was all about, we've got to get these people out of here. We've got to help these people immediately. It's amazing what you guys do at Cal Fire. And I just want to say thank you for doing what you do.
I've said it a million times over the course of the last week and a half. There's just no way I could do what you guys do. I mean, it takes a real different kind of bravery and a real different kind of thing. So thank you so much for stopping by. We've also got Steve Shoemaker here, and I want to talk to Steve because Steve is a helicopter coordinator, which means that I'm guessing you're not actually in the helicopters. You're sending the different guys out to the different places? Well, that's not quite correct. At 9.30 when the fire started, I'm with the San Diego Sheriff's Department, Cal Fire Joint Program out of Gillespie. We actually launched on initial attack with our two helicopters and our crews and the Forest Service helicopter out of Ramona. So you were up there. I was out there dropping water at the same time coordinating the aircraft that were coming into the fire. So I had a dual role. Listen, you could set the record straight because I remember that there was a big deal right after where Schwarzenegger is having to... respond to why weren't the helicopters up, why weren't the helicopters up. What we had been hearing was the winds were too crazy. Is that what the deal was, or was there some red tape involved? The winds were crazy, and the helicopters were up. There was some misinformation, and I'm not here to figure out how that all started, but with regards to the Harris Fire, which is the Harris Fire that was assisting in the management of the air resources,
I used every helicopter they sent my way. We flew them all day, every day, for the entire week. It was crazy. It was dangerous. Should we have been flying? I don't know. We were right on the edge, I'll tell you. We talked often between the aircraft and the pilots, checking on people. How are you doing? What do you think? Are we over the edge? So we're constantly monitoring our situation. We decided... That as long as the public was in danger, as long as my crew that we put on the ground was in danger, as long as our joining forces were in danger, we were going to stay, if nothing more, than to just be there to rescue those guys if they needed us. Now, your title as helicopter coordinator, is that a fancy way to say helicopter pilot? Or do you actually, is your job on the ground coordinating where the pilots are going to go? That was kind of my first question, but I got the feeling that's not what it is. Your helicopter coordinator is somebody that's in the helicopter flying missions. Yeah, on initial attack, we get stretched into several different roles at the same time. And so as aircraft began coming in and loading up the air attack, who's in a plane above us, he's kind of the airspace controller and also dealing with strategies and tactics for the aircraft. He quickly asked me within that first hour, you know, I'm getting loaded up. We've got nearly 10 aircraft flying.
all at once in the beginning because of the rapid ramp up of this fire. He said, I can't control the helicopters. Will you take those over? He'll just deal with me, pass down his desires for the helicopter that way, and then he's just dealing with the air tankers. So we had the air tankers flying that morning. They got diverted to the Witch Fire, which started right about noon at the same time as we were hot and heavy on the Harris Fire, and then we just continued the helicopters all day. So let me ask you, Because none of us are probably ever going to be able to do what you've done, being in a helicopter, fighting a fire. It may seem like a ridiculous question, but I don't know the answer. So I've got to ask, how much of that heat do you feel in the helicopter when you're flying over these fires? Well, with the Huey helicopters that we fly, we don't have any nice airflow and air conditioning. So we have our windows down just to keep the sweat drying on our skin. We're trying to stay cool. Once we get into the drop zone, depending on how we're oriented with the column, many times we'll get heat that comes in the windows, and that's kind of how we judge how close we are. We've had embers come into my window, land on the seats behind us, and burn holes in the seats behind us. That's happened several times. We're about as close as we can be. What would happen if the fire started back in the back? I mean, is there two of you guys in there? Is somebody there to put out a fire or whatever?
Start spitting. I guess. The seat's kind of self-extinguished, so you look back there and you say to the pilot, ah, the seat's on fire. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm telling you, the one thing that just absolutely blew me away watching on television is I thought to myself, now, these guys are moving at I don't know how many miles per hour. They got so many gallons of water in those things. How are they going to hit that sucker right on the money? And I'm telling you, every time. Like, every time you guys hit the... You know, what is the process? Are you guys looking at any kind of head-up display? How do you hit the fire? How do you do it? Yeah, I wish we had those technological advantages, but we don't. It's just, it's the human factor. We're doing the best we can. All I can tell you is we train a lot. All the forces down here, San Diego City One. the Sheriff Cal Fire helicopters, the Forest Service fires. We work so much together so many times a year. We just almost can anticipate what... When you train on Xbox, PS3, like what... You know what, if any of the gaming companies wants to design a helicopter firefighting game, they'll have a lot of people buying it. There you go. Wow. How many gallons? How many gallons you drop? On average, our tank holds about 300 gallons. It just depends on what our fuel load is. Right.
And when you pick that, see, because some of them were different. Some of them I saw, it's a big tube, and it goes and sucks up the water from... We call that a snorkel in that it pumps up water into the tank. How long does it take to get the 300 gallons pumped up? Depending on the technology, it takes anywhere from 20 seconds to 40 seconds to fill that tank. Oh, my. That's awesome. And then with the large sky cranes, they hold 2,000 gallons. They can fill those 2,000 in just 60 seconds. You've got to be kidding me. That's... Crazy. 2,000 gallons in about 60 seconds? Oh, my. Well, listen. Now, you guys also do some rescue with firefighters and stuff like that. So if there's firefighters out there, because I was giving a note to ask you guys about firefighter rescue. Do you guys do that as well? Yeah, that's correct. And even on the Harris fire, we had a situation where one of our fire engines got burned over with burn injuries. And we... We had to kind of put a medevac plan rapidly into place, and we could do rescue either by landing and medevacing folks out that way. We also have a hoist rescue program. City One has a hoist rescue program. The Sheriff Cal Fire has a hoist rescue program, and all the Cal Fire helicopters are able to do aerial rescue on the fly during the fire. Steve Shoemaker's a helicopter coordinator. How many hours sleep did you get that first couple days? Wow.
Not a lot. I'd say I probably averaged anywhere from five, maybe if I was lucky, six hours of sleep. Just with all the planning and all the post work, we've got to get the aircraft readied up again. The sheriff mechanics were phenomenal. They switched their hours. They started doing all the maintenance at night to keep the aircraft flying from sunup to sundown. So the whole team got behind the effort and kept the aircraft flying nonstop. Robert Lewin, Deputy Incident Commander on the Harris Fire. Steve Shoemaker, Helicopter Coordinator. Thank you guys so much for stopping by here. You're heroes. Give these guys a round of applause. Thank you guys for stopping in. It's really amazing what you guys did and I really appreciate you guys stopping by. I could talk to you for hours and ask you guys questions about it. Thank you very much. We're also going to be talking to Lieutenant Colonel Doug O'Brien. He's a divisional commander for the Salvation Army and really kind of want to get a feel for... what the Salvation Army has been doing. What they need. What they need, for sure. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Careful, careful. Are you all right? Yeah.
You're good. We've got to fix that. This is the worst setup ever. When the mayor was walking around the edge, I'm like, please, oh no, that's the last thing we need. Everybody's had an issue getting up that thing. Lieutenant Colonel Doug O'Brien, Divisional Commander for the Salvation Army. I think Eddie hit it right on the head. We should start by saying, what does the Salvation Army need at this point? Thank you for asking that question. I need about a half a million dollars to do the... Look at that. Ashley's handing you five bucks. Ashley's in. That was like on cue. Thanks. I'm in too. Yeah, we all share. Let's give them some dough. Everybody donates five bucks. I am almost there. And that's like 15 million or something dollars going towards the fires. I've got 12 bucks. There you go. There's 12 bucks. So there's five bucks. I've done my card. There you go. There you go. I've got 20... 27 bucks. 29 bucks. You've collected $29 from the mic. How soon can I come back? How soon can I come back? So you need money. What the Salvation Army needs is money. And what does the money go to? What kinds of stuff, how does it get dispensed? A specific ask I've made just now is for support of our local assistance centers.
In each of the local assistance centers, we do case management with the people who have been affected by the fire, determine their need, and then provide the department store gift cards and grocery store gift cards and vouchers for our thrift stores where they can buy. You just imagine if people are going out and cleaning up their area, they don't want brand new clothes. They want stuff that they can get dirty and then throw away. Well, they can get stuff at our thrift store that's really good for that purpose. Right. So they can get that kind of stuff. And at the rate we're distributing these gift cards, I'm going to need another $500,000 to meet that kind of a need. So our $30 wasn't enough. It's a start. I'm really grateful for it. Let's just make that clear. Of all the times that I've heard about the Salvation Army, it's something I didn't know. I didn't know that the way that it worked is that... People get gift cards, which is, when you think about it, pretty amazing. That's awesome. Well, it's a convenient way for people to get exactly what they need. The needs of families will differ, and that will allow them to do that. So that's an important thing that we do. And so this morning, when people come out here...
What about checks? If people want to give checks and things like that, what's the easiest way to do it? Who do you make it out to? What do you put in the memo section? All that stuff. If they put fire relief or fire on there, that money will only ever be used in San Diego for fire relief. So they can be absolutely secure that that's the way the money will be used. How much money... Do you know how much money has been raised by the Salvation Army so far in these recovery efforts? I can put my hands on about $1,100,000 at the moment. Sorry. I'm spending it as fast as I can on services. We've provided tens of thousands of meals already, and in the course of a fire, you provide emergency service, so food. We make sure people have a place to stay, and we make sure that they have clothing so that their immediate needs are taken care of. Right now, we're in the assistance centers, which is what we talked about just a little while ago. But we have teams that have been going into communities, and they're like little mini stores that we provide.
Free to the individuals who have been affected by fire, but they'll include wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, sifting trays so they can dump a pile of ash and dirt on their, you know, and look for gold. Yeah, gold rings and other mementos that they may find. And so we have teams that are especially meant to just listen and try to talk people through the stages of grief that they're going through, and that's an important thing which we think is necessary in this event. In the long term, we have needs for families who've been burnt out. We provide seasonal assistance, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Four years ago, the fire is then. We bought meals at local restaurants that had been economically hurt by the fire, and we bought meals at the local restaurants and gave the meal coupons to the people who've been affected by fire. So we try to think smart about how we can best serve people. But, you know, this is a long-term effort. The kids of those fire victims were sent to our summer camp, so they had an experience like that, and we were involved in home rebuilding. The last home the Salvation Army rebuilt, the keys to that house were only given out.
Two months ago. That's a long-term recovery. That's amazing. Well, listen, Lieutenant Colonel Doug O'Brien, thank you very much for stopping by. Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army. They need money, and so I want to have you come out here and give it. Still coming in. These guys are great. Think of Rob. He has no money. He's giving money. Well, because you never know. Rob might need the... No old gum, Rob. No, we don't need old gum. Qualcomm Stadium. We're in Section F2. Come out here, donate some money, and stop by, say hi to the Mikey Show. We'll be back live from Qualcomm Stadium next. It's Rock 105.3. So last year, we went to this place in Guadalajara. It was this random little place, off the beaten path. We went to a place around there, too. Yeah, and they had taquitos, just like these. Full of flavor, good texture. What are these, Delimix? Yeah, the place we went had taquitos like these, too. Wait, did this place have a really big fish tank in the middle? Yeah, and the tortillas were pressed and grilled right on the spot. You know, these Delimix taquitos taste a lot like that. Right. Oh, they were stuffed with this really tender, shredded beef, just like these Delimix. Remember the mariachi band? Oh, my God. DeliMex's authentic taquitos are made with thick shreds of lean beef, juicy white meat chicken, rich cheese, and stone ground freshly baked tortillas. DeliMex. Muy delicioso. Muy mexicano. All right, welcome back. It's 849. We're here at Qualcomm collecting donations, and anybody can come by. In fact, we're asking that everybody come by. Come on. We're at Qualcomm Stadium. We're in Section F2, and you can donate money. All the money's going to Fire Relief, and the cool thing is that after you donate money, you can park, and you can come in and hang out with us. Pretty cool. Now, we are going to, in just a little, not right now, but we're going to be doing charger picks in just a minute right now. There's so many things that we have not even got to that we haven't even told you about. Like how I just won in foosball? Who did you beat? Some dude. Guy with no arms? No, he had arms. And he had eyes. He did? Yes. I don't know if you guys have heard about this. Carlos Santana's wife has filed for divorce. Oh, no. I know. They've been married for a long time. I really thought they'd make it. I'm telling you, Carlos Santana has done a duet with everybody. Yeah.
I heard Chad Kroger on a duet with him that's brand new the other day. I heard Lou Ferrigno on with him. Stop it. Everybody. Oh yeah, he has two full-length CDs in our hall. My mom said her duet with him is coming out next week. Oh, that'd be sweet. Okay, I don't think Esther is doing a duet, but yeah. Mr. and Santana. That's right. But yeah, Carlos Santana's wife filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. They have been married for 34 years. She actually wrote a book back in 2005 about her life. My life with Carlos Santana. It's called Space Between the Stars, Mike. That's dumb. And in it, she talks about how Santana had been unfaithful at times in their marriage. It's Carlos Santana. I mean, what do you expect? He's a big rock star. He's a guitar god. What do people think when they marry? But they've been married for 34 years, Mike. Come on. Does that mean anything anymore? Absolutely unbelievable. Let's do some Charger picks. What do you say? Let's do it. It's time for picks. It's time for Eddie's picks. Come on, Charger girls. Against the Charger girls pick. On the Mikey Show.
Do we know where we stand? Do we know, like, what happened last week? Another tie. Another tie. These girls have been doing good. Unbelievable. Well, their boyfriends have been doing really good. Oh, shut up. Wait a second, ladies. Look at the boys. They know. You don't know that, right? I don't have a boyfriend. What are your lovely ladies' names? My name is Kylette. Kylette? Ooh, that's pretty. Okay, Kylette. And what is your name? Camry. Camry. Okay, Kamri, I think we've met you before. You have. You did very good. You did very good. She's all about me. You know what it is, Kamri? It's the name Kamri. Immediately I went, I know we've met Kamri. Kamri, you're a lovely, beautiful woman. I can tell you exactly where I met you. I can tell you exactly where I met you. Where? I met you at Qualcomm Stadium, 2004. It was your first game cheering ever. You shook my hand and I said, it's really nice to meet you. You don't remember that? This is my first year. 2004? I thought maybe I could try to make her feel bad and turn it around. Whenever you don't remember somebody, what you do is you try to think of a time that you met them and then when they don't remember, you immediately flip it around. Has that ever worked? Never. It's the first time I've tried it. This was the first time I ever tried it. It didn't work. The last girl I was on here with, we were the first ones that tied. How could you not remember that, Skye?
Totally remember being very afraid. Who's happy about a tie? Be very afraid. It was the first time there was a tie. Like they're happy about a tie. All right, let's do this, ladies. Let's do this. Please. This weekend, the first game we're going to do is Arizona at Tampa. Charger girls, what do you think? I say Tampa Bay. Tampa. Eddie? I've got to go with the pride of Gilroy High, Jeff Garcia, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There you go. Eddie, what do you think of Carolina at Tennessee? Weird game. I feel very uncomfortable about that. Why is it weird? Because it's like Carolina, you don't know what you're going to get. Tennessee has not looked very good offensively. Defensively, they're shutting everybody down. Need Vince Young to step up. I will take Tennessee. Charge your girls? Same. You want Tennessee? Vince Young, he's going to win. All right, charge your girls. Cincinnati at Buffalo. Cincinnati. Cincinnati. Okay. Eddie, what do you think? I agree. I'll take the Bengals. Three for three so far. Eddie, Denver at Detroit. I feel awkward about that game as well. You have to expect Denver at some point to show up and play better. But I don't know. Detroit's looked really good. And Detroit at home, I'm going to take Detroit on the fast track. All right. Charger girls, what do you think? Lions as well. I don't think the Broncos will be able to recover from their Monday night game. Really? Good insight. Thank you.
I like that. That's what my boyfriend said. Oh. Shut up. They don't even have boyfriends. If I had one, I'd give them credit, but this is all me. I was watching this with Housewives. All right. Hey. Charger girls, what do you think of Green Bay at Kansas City? Oh, my goodness. They have to look at the list. Green Bay, yeah. You guys say Green Bay. Eddie? Notice I have no notes in front of me. I'm just talking. Okay. Anyway. You're smart. You're so much smarter than everyone else. Whatever. I'll go with the most handsome man in football, Brett Favre, in Green Bay. How handsome is he, Eddie? Oh, rugged and great. I believe you guys are agreeing on all these games. He's not copying us. Yeah, you guys are agreeing. How can I be copying you? I'm talking first. I believe he did this last time. Whatever, Eddie. It's already on the site, right, Sean? Eddie, Jacksonville at New Orleans. Again, this is another tough game to pick, but...
The New Orleans Saints have seemed to be playing better. They kind of did sort of what the Chargers did and kind of turned around their season. I will take Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, and the New Orleans Saints. Charger girls. Saints. All right. Hey, you're copying me. Charger girls. Charger girls, who do you like in the San Diego at Minnesota game? Ooh, I wonder who they're going to pick. San Diego, Chargers. Eddie, who do you like? It's not even going to be a close game. I'll be honest with you. They're going to shut down Adrian Peterson, and then who's going to beat us? Tavares Jackson. Ooh, so scared. Yeah, San Diego in a blowout. Eddie, who do you like in the 49ers at Atlanta? Oh, God, another gross game. I mean, I don't know if three people will even watch that game, and that's like their families included. Oh, no. But I have to take my beloved 49ers. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Charger girls. Atlanta Falcons. Oh. We're just going for the home team because, right, it's like... It's terrible. I agree with you. It's 49ers. So, wait a second. You guys are taking Atlanta. Yes. Okay, Eddie takes Atlanta. Okay, got it. Got it. And the Falcons are coming out from their bye, so... Well, what do you know? Nice and rested. There you go. You guys are so knowledgeable about this. Charger girls? Thank you. Charger girls, what do you think of Washington at the Jets? Redskins. Yeah. Yes. Eddie? Yeah, I got to pick the Redskins as well. All right. Eddie, what do you think of Seattle at Cleveland?
You know, this is an interesting matchup as well. Cleveland has been playing well with Derek Anderson. But for some reason, I have a feeling that Sean Alexander is finally going to break out, have a big game. I'm taking Seattle on the road. We picked the Browns. Oh, we got another disagreement. We're a little overrated. This is getting crazy. Overrated, Eddie. Who's overrated? All right, Charger girls. What do you think of Houston at Oakland? Houston. Hold on, hold on. Are they going to disagree? What happens if they disagree? No, Houston Texans. They have to cheer. They have to cheer off. Texans, we got them. You guys got Houston. Eddie? That's a mistake. I'm taking the Oakland Raiders to win. Raider lover? Excuse me. That's what I heard. Slap your own face. I dare you say that. Eddie, the big one, New England at Indianapolis. Here we go. Look at Boston Rob standing up. The one we've all been waiting for. Super Bowl 41 and a half. What do you think? You know, a lot of people are thinking that this is going to be the Colts. The Colts are going to win. They're going to upset Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. I say, no way, man. New England is playing too good. How are the Colts going to stop the Patriots? How? How will anybody stop the Patriots? That's a great question. I don't think it's going to happen. I'm taking New England. And Charger girls. Look at Rob. He's so proud. New England cheaters. New England cheaters.
Oh, look at this. Rob. Look at Rob. We're what? 8-0 right now? And we got caught at the beginning of the year? Oh, well. So we spied on some people. Who cares? Greatest team ever in football. They will lose when we meet them in playoffs. They will lose. The history of football history. Just like last year, Charger Girls. Charger Girls, the late game on Sunday is Dallas at Philadelphia. Who do you like? The Cowboys. Eddie? Yep, Tony Romo and the Cowboys. And finally, the Monday night game. Eddie is Baltimore at Pittsburgh. What do you see? That one, to me, I think is going to be another kind of blowout. It's going to be a blowout on the side of the Steelers. They're going to win big. And Charger girls? Steelers. All right, so we have three games that you disagreed on. Eddie took the Niners. You guys took Atlanta. Eddie took Seattle. The Charger girls took Cleveland. And Eddie took... Oakland and the Charger girls took Houston in that game. So three games you disagreed on. We'll see how it turns out. We will see. Good luck to you. What, Ashley? So that means there can't be a tie, right? That's correct. That is correct. You're so smart.
Kylette, it was wonderful to see you again. Thanks, Eddie. It was wonderful to see you again. And Camry, it was wonderful to see you again as well. And good luck. Good luck. Thank you. And hopefully you guys do really good. And Eddie, what do we got? Tell your boyfriends I said hello. Shut up with that. Eddie, do we need to take a break or are we okay with time? What's going on? Well, I think... What do you think? Fox 6 may be rolling over here. Maybe not. Yeah, we can take a break. All right, we'll take a break. We'll be back from Qualcomm. Come out here, give money. Welcome back. It's Mikey's show and we're live out here at Qualcomm. It is 9.05. KUSI anchorwoman Kimberly Hunt was assaulted by being sprayed in the face with chemicals this week outside her North County home. Eagles head coach Andy Reid's sons were sentenced to 23 months in jail apiece. The judge calls Reid's house a drug emporium. Oh my gosh. And what's that address? Those guys know how to patty or what? An emporium. Well, welcome back. We are at Qualcomm Stadium right now, and we are trying to get everybody to come out here and donate some money. And all the money is going to go to the San Diego Wildfire Fund. And we got the Salvation Army out here. We got everybody out here. And basically, it's been a really good morning. I know we've raised over $10,000 at this point, which is great, man. And people that want to come out and donate money, you got to come out here and give it and just know that you're doing something really good.
for yourself today for the community man this is great say the cool stat if everybody brings five bucks everyone who wasn't affected by the fire meaning you didn't lose your home if all those people brought five bucks we could raise 15 million dollars today five bucks yeah i mean whatever you got we're not gonna you know laugh at you if you can only do five bucks i mean that's anything and if you're busy if you're on your way to work it only takes a minute we have it set up so you can just drive straight through Throw the money out your driver's side window and keep on rolling. You can just throw it at him. You can just throw it. We don't care. We won't be offended. And if you have time and you want to hang out, you're more than welcome to come down, hang out. We got coffee and coffee cake. We got free coffee and breakfast. Well, here's the deal. This money that is being raised today is definitely going to go to a good cause because you know there's a lot of people that are displaced. And through talking to the Salvation Army, we heard it this morning. That money is needed to be able to buy gift cards so that people can go out and get some clothes. You know, when you're displaced by the fire, you lose all your stuff, man. You need to be able to put some of this stuff back together. And right now, it's just an important time to get out here. For sure. It's easy. You just drive through Qualcomm. You come through the parking lot. And what's really great is being able to, like, kind of park and then come and hang out with us. We got a lot of P1s. All the P1s that are here, make noise that you're here and let everybody hear you. These are the best. Yeah, man. I mean, they got up early. They came out and did this.
question go ahead uh can people pay in all form like cash or check do we know i believe that you can do both i believe that uh cash is preferred but uh you know we were asking the guy that came down here from the salvation army lieutenant colonel doug o'brien and he was saying that you could just put on there san diego wildfires and it's going to make sure and it will make sure that it gets the right place and uh it really doesn't matter man you just get cash check it doesn't matter Come out here and donate money because we all know that this is going to go to helping out some people in a great way. And we have a great silent auction too. Say you're like a kind of mean-spirited person and you can't just straight donate money. You have to get something in return. We have a great silent auction with all this awesome memorabilia. And you get to take some home. What a weird thing to say. It's the thought that counts. Some people are like... What are you talking about? That doesn't make you mean-spirited. If you can't just donate. You're still giving. You're getting something out of it, though, too. Which is awesome. I think it doesn't make you mean-spirited. Skye, I will defend you on this one. Don't participate in the auction, right? I will defend you on this one. No, I'm not saying that. Thank you, Mike. I think what Skye is trying to say is that if you have awfulness in your heart, do the auction. Thank you. Wow. That's awful. Thank you, Mike. That's exactly right. Yeah, we have an audience.
Photographed guitars, CDs. Respectfully disagree. All right. Well, listen, man. We're still doing another 50 minutes out here. And then we're going to have Missy come out here and take over. Our afternoon show is going to take over out here. We're going to be going until 7 o'clock tonight raising money. Lots of stuff that we have not got to. Financial documents are now letting us know exactly. What Brittany and K-Fed spend the money on every month. Yeah, they're monthly expensive. Coke, y'all. Yeah. Fritos. Wait. How much is spent on entertainment? Kool-Aid. Monthly. Fried chicken. Yeah. Okay. Otter pops. Plastic utensils. Paper plates. Cigarettes. Sunglasses. Yeah. Beer. Pizza Hut. Y'all. Skye, you all right? Curve that.
No. Natural light. Natty light. Coors original. Coors original. How much is spent on what? Are you going to sneeze again? Okay. It just went away. I'm cool. Okay. So monthly, Brittany spends on entertainment's gifts and vacation $102,000. Okay. Entertainment, gifts, and what? And vacations. A.K.A. Vegas. $102,000. I wonder if the... I wonder if she's doing something that could go under the category of vacation every month. Yes. She goes to Vegas every month. Yeah, on the weekends, staying in a hotel in LA. You know, how she has a mansion, but sometimes just likes to stay at a hotel down the block. Our lives, like every one of us listening, our lives are very different from Britney Spears. Yeah, so she does $102,000 every month on that. K-Fed? $5,000 for that same exact category, entertainment, gifts, and vacation. So, it's a little different. No, but seriously? Like, what are you spending five grand on? Does weed fall into entertainment? I would put it in, yeah. Does Carvassier fall? The what? The Carvassier. There's no R. Does Carvassier fall? There's no R. Anybody. There's not an R, yeah. There's no R. Carvassier? Check and see if there's Carvassier in there.
Okay, on rent slash mortgage payments every month, bring me about $50,000. On rent? And mortgage, whatever. I swear, Randy, about $50,000. Mortgage slash what? Rent. $50,000. That's nuts, man. K-Fed, $7,500 a month. I wonder where he lives. He ain't living like her. Tarzana, I believe, is the name of the town. Outside of L.A. I think he rents a house. What does he do? Yeah. Rent a house? Yeah. Not like a fly penthouse apartment on top of some big fancy... In the sky. Yeah. Maybe that's what he does. A deluxe apartment. Yeah. Monthly for clothes, Brittany spends $16,000 a month on clothes. What? K-Fed, $2,000. K-Fed's very frugal. Yeah. Mikey, $80 a year. Sky, zero. Thank you.
an insult, people. That's an accurate figure. Well, Skye, stand up. Show everybody the AIDS quilt and the promotional t-shirt. I've been getting many compliments today. She looks great. Thank you. She does. Ashley doesn't count. No, the P1s have been saying nice things. No, no, no. I heard the Charger girl saying that that might be the new outfit for 08. Okay, now you're making stuff up. That's not cool. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Eating out every month. Brittany spends about Eddie family show. Britney spends about $5,000. Oh, my God. That was a K-Fed. Spends more. Okay, Eddie. I'm talking about- I'm sorry, Mike. I'm sorry, Mike. Food. Why are you laughing? Food. I'm smiling. Hey, man. Because of all the giving. Because you're in doubt? Because of all the giving today. Be safe. So, Britney spends about five grand. We're K-Feds. Blank, blank, blank, and blank you. All right. Thank you, Chris Hansen. K-Fed spends $1,500. What? And then finally on their phone bills. Wait. Okay, so she spends how much on going to dinner? $5,000 a month. On KFC? Well, she probably buys. Every time they go out to dinner. Yeah, all her little entourage. Okay, and our final category is the phone bill. Now, are we talking? It's all cell phone.
All cell phones. Yeah, it says phone bills, so I'm sure that's probably her home bill with her cell phone combined. Okay. I'm sure the cell phone is the big chunk of it. I don't see either of them talking on landlines, and I'm being sick. Like, even when they're in their house. She probably has a couple of cell phones, I would imagine. Why do stars do that? Have a couple of cell phones? Yeah. Well, don't they get given them at, like, swag? Yeah, and one's probably just for, like, family members to have that number. One's for, like... everybody to have the number. One's probably just for like work. Well, I know I have 17. Well, dude, if you do that, Sky, in all seriousness. What up? One for Ramsey. Can you please? Please. Let's get serious. Wow, that's really just a walkie-talkie. Yeah. Shut up. He doesn't know how to use the phone yet. Yes, Mike. If you have a phone and like your family has that number. Yeah. And then you have a phone that everybody has the number. Right. you're carrying multiple phones. If you're a chick, you're carrying a bunch of phones in your purse? Yeah. Is that how it would work? Yeah, and I mean, it probably depends what you got going on. You know, you probably only take certain phones at certain times or leave them in a car. That's so complicated. She has so many assistants. Yeah, they probably hold them for. Yeah, every time you see her, she's practically naked, so, you know, there's not very many places to hold the phone. But then she always has the big purse. Okay, so Brittany's monthly phone bill expenses.
$2,500. How is that possible? She should get cricket. Dude. Seriously. It's impossible. Where does the $2,500 go? Text messaging. Yeah. Dude, get a plan, bro. Seriously. Get cricket. Get cricket. I know. Figure it out. And then KFED's monthly phone bills, $750. I don't get it. That's weird. I want a Britney representative to explain it. That's crazy. So, yeah. And then they go into like, you know, we heard earlier that Britney earns about $700,000 a month. Now that's royalties. Yeah. Probably right. Her perfumes, whatever she's hawking these days. Yeah. Skrill. I'd love to know. I'd love to know everything she's up to. Yeah. So they said last year in 2006, KFED earned over a half a million dollars from endorsements and appearances. But they say he only managed to take home $7,400 after all of his business expenses. Wait. What? Isn't that crazy? He doesn't need it. Well, the business... It's not where he's making his money. Not only that, but those business expenses are what he's... That's what he's in it for.
For the hotel room. Yeah, exactly. The business expense would be the first class, and that's what he wants his life to be. The business expense is staying at a nice hotel. That's what he wants his life to be. The business expense is a limo. That's what he wants. Yeah, and that's the money he makes, but the money he gets from Brit? How much are you getting from her? Well, let's see. I believe it is $15,000 a month. for child support, which will increase if Brittany does not regain custody. We didn't ask her, but seriously, she doesn't know when she gets them. I don't know, y'all. What kids? I don't care. Pass the pizza in porn. And then finally... Sorry. Calm down. And then finally, I know we've all been dying to know how much money K-Fed made last year off of his jam, Popo Zow. Now, wait. You talking the album? Royalties. They say royalties for his blockbuster debut, Popo Zow. Yeah, but that wasn't on the album.
Yeah, no, it wasn't, was it? So just the song? Yeah, well, because that was the only one that got radio play, and it only got radio play for like a second. What about that album? I actually wondered about that album the other day and if it made any money. Didn't you buy it? I bought it. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I bought it. Okay. Mikey's money, and that's it. Right. So it made $12.99. Which I wrote off as a business interest. Way to go. Very smart. So last year... Popo Zhao in royalties brought in $3,300. Oh, yeah. Cha-ching. That's $3,000 more than I made in royalties last year. Well, that's true. But see, that's his full-time job, Mike. Lame. Is that the list? Yeah, that's what we got. That's a lot of stuff, man. Right? Let's see. This is another Britney story. She has a problem remembering to take birth control. Which is just great for the future of the human race. Well, you know what's so stupid about it? Why doesn't she get that shot, that Depo-Provera shot? Well, that's what the inside source says, that she was actually on the Depo shot, but she didn't like it because she thought it made her get fat. No, that's KFC that makes you get fat. Doritos. Doritos. Or are you sticking with condoms?
Yeah, you know what? I don't think it's a KFC and the pizza and the Coke at three in the morning. I think it's birth control. Yeah, it's the depo shot. So she stopped taking that. And she became emaciated immediately. For sure. She went off the shot and became 104 pounds. Yeah, so she started taking the pill and yeah, she thinks it's really funny when she forgets to take it or when she loses. That is hysterical. The baby falls out. I see him every time. That's so funny, y'all. Oh, look, another one. Another litter. Where does one come from? I thought I had gas. Oh, no. Yeah. There it is. I thought I was retaining water. I was retaining children. Again. Weird. I was retaining Jaden. Aw. So what is she doing now, then? She's off the depo. Yeah, she's taking the pill. And it's funny that she doesn't take it. Funny, yeah. Hysterical. Do we know how her CD is selling? I bet it's blown up. Because, I mean, I got it. I bet it's blown up. I know a lot of my friends got it. I'm sure we'll find out next week because since it came out on Tuesday, you know, it takes about a week for them to... For real? Some of your friends got it too? Oh, for sure. Like, I have some diehard Britney fan friends. Really? Well, in my Sex and the City group that I hang out with, Kaylee is, like, the biggest supporter of all. Big ups to Kaylee. It's like the Finer Things group on the other. Yeah. Which I watched, by the way. Nice. Finer Things.
Last night I watched the first episode I'd seen all season. Really? Laugh out loud moments and then some just stupid stuff. Yeah. That's been the way all this season long. It's been really over the top or funny. John Krasinski as Jim is the greatest thing ever. He is the greatest thing about that show. Him sitting on the couch when he was being dressed down by Karen for, you know, I loved her saying to him. so you're still doing this, huh? And he's like, yeah, I'm trying to cut back. We decided yesterday that Andy is our favorite character. I love Andy. Andy's the best. On The Office. Him just sitting down at their table. He's got the book. It's great. And I also liked him saying to Stanley, you are just like somebody's great old Uncle Remus. New movies out this weekend, Sky. Okay, we got a couple good ones out this weekend. Where's my list? Here we go. We have B-Movie, which I'm sure everybody's been looking forward to. It's a kid movie, right? Jerry Seinfeld. Kid movie? Zellweger, yeah, Chris Rock, Ray Liotta. That's so annoying. I don't have my audio page printed out, but Sean, you have B-Movie clips, right? Sean.
Shawnee O'Boy. Oh, no. Sean O'Biggity. Sean Sean. Oh, no. Sean Sean. He dropped. Okay, that's great. Dropped off at a furry convention? Oh, who said that? Well, hopefully we get Sean back on pretty soon. Sean Sean. Okay, so B-movie's coming out. It's a kid movie, right? Yeah, it's animated, follows the life of Barry B. Benson, a delusional bee who's just graduated from college on a special trip outside the hive. So that sounds awesome. What else? Sure, it'll make a gabillion. American Gangster out today. You guys want to see that? Yeah, sure. Russell Crowe. Denzel. Looks good. Ridley Scott directing it. It's supposed to be a true story, too. I love movies like that. Anybody here, or Eddie, or does anybody here know what... I'll do a clip from the movie if you want. Go ahead. Remember when he's bringing the mom up and he's showing her the house that he bought her? I'll be the mom. Oh, okay. Oh, you were going to be the mom? Whatever. Either way. You'd be Denzel. I'll be Denzel. All right. Okay. Here we go. Guess whose house that is, mama? Who? That's your house. There you go. American Gangster. Wow. I'm in. Wow.
It's a true story, but does anybody here or Eddie, do you know what it's about? What's the story? About two hours, Mike. Okay, thank you. Sean's back. It says, American Gangster tells a true life story of Frank Lucas, the most prolific heroin dealer in New York City in the 1970s. Lucas was able to smuggle in narcotics in the coffins of dead U.S. soldiers returning from the Vietnam War. Oh my gosh. Here's a clip. Cut 65. I've had hundreds of parents of dead kids who OD'd on your product. But that's why we go to court, isn't it, Richie? Because I got witnesses, too. I got celebrities. I got sports figures. I got Harlem. I took care of Harlem, so Harlem's going to take care of me and bleed. So it was Denzel Washington that was the bad guy? Yeah. And Russell Crowe is a cop? Yes. Yeah, Denzel's the gangster. I thought it was the other way around. I thought Denzel was the cop, but I was just, you know, I was doing my own, like... unfair characterization. Denzel is black, and so I immediately thought, oh, he's the good guy cop. And Russell Crowe's white. And so immediately I was like, oh, he's white. He must be the criminal. You're so stereotypical. Don't fall into the stereotypes, Mike. Just not cool. We also have a clip from B-Movie, and I can't wait to hear this. It's going to be hysterical. Cut 61.
What? You're not dead? Do I look dead? Hey, they will wipe in it. The Honey Farms. I am onto something huge here. I'm going to Alaska. Moose blood. Crazy stuff. Blows your head off. I've got one. It's a coma. What about you? He really is dead. I'm going to keep making the animated movies because they make a lot of money. Thank you. I'll do animated movies all day long because they make a lot of money. Same voice. Same voice in everyone. He's in every animated movie ever. What's the deal with Chris Rockman in every animated movie? It's because he make a lot of money. What's the deal with the movie? The deal is money. Ashley, we don't need your help. We got this. We got a cover. Thank you. Ashley telling herself to shut up.
Huge. So, now that I can see the audio, and we were talking about The Office a minute ago, I know the reason that I think I'm the most out on The Office is Dwight's over-the-topness. You've said that from the beginning, though. Yeah. Cut 45. What are you planning on doing? Do you really want to know? Oh, God. Follow me. Come here. Here's what we brought. We brought uniforms from the warehouse. I brought Silly String. Dwight brought gasoline and chunks of rubber to make stink bombs. Or real bombs. No, no. Not real bombs. Come on, it'll be so badass. Maybe. I don't know. I don't know. It'll be badass. Well... No. Absolutely, we're not doing it. Come on, I already filled the bottles with the gas. It's going to be so badass. There it is. That's the office. You didn't buy that, Mike? I wasn't buying it. That they were driving around with... Those bombs in the back of their car? I'm telling you, it used to be my favorite show. Yeah. And I think they're doing everything over the top now. Heather Mills is back in the news. And, well, she's never really left it. She's been in the news this whole time because she is over the top with this whole Paul McCartney did something bad to me. And if they knew that I was talking about it, it would be real bad. She was on the Today Show yesterday.
And here she is talking to Matt Lauer. Actually, this is her appearance. She was on the Today Show and Good Morning America. Oh, wow. Making the rounds. So here is her appearance on Good Morning America. Cut 16. I want to ask you about these death threats. And you said that you thought of suicide. Did you mean that? At the time, yes, I did. Because what you have to understand is when Paul and I broke up, I said, look, you are, you know... God, a demi-god to most people. They're going to think this is all my fault. So you know what the truth is. So just please protect me. I'm not asking you to give details of what happened to prove that, you know, I didn't do what they're saying I'm doing. But I'm just asking you to say I'm responsible for the breakdown of this marriage full stop. And that will do the minimum amount of damage. And he basically promised he would protect me, did one paragraph on his website, and never, ever protected me again. All right, another thing we were talking about earlier was Barry Bonds.
Barry Bond said that if his baseball that has been branded with an asterisk is allowed into the Hall of Fame, he will never visit the Hall of Fame. He'll never go to the Hall of Fame. He's boycotting it. He's boycotting it. Well, yesterday he was on countdown with Keith Olbermann. And here's how all that was said. Cut eight. I don't think you can put an asterisk in the game of baseball. And I don't think that the Hall of Fame can accept an asterisk. Yeah. You cannot give people the freedom or right to alter history. You can't do it. There's no such thing as an asterisk in baseball. And if the Hall of Fame does accept that ball? I'll never be in the Hall of Fame. You personally, as a visitor, or in your artifacts, or you mean your enshrinement? I won't go. What part of, I won't be there, and you can call me, I won't be there. Your only thought process on this would be, if that occurs, And even if you are inducted into the Hall of Fame, Barry Barnes will not be there. You know what? I love the indignancy, how angry he is. Hey, guess what? Look at this. Fox News is coming up here right now. What do we got? We got Ruben Galvan. What's going on? Ruben Galvan. Introduce yourself. I am Eddie. All right. Hi, I'm Sky. I'm Mikey. Mikey, Big Mike, man. What happened to all your data? He doesn't like Big Mike. Don't call him Big Mike.
What did you say? Wait, I said Big Mike. Why is that a problem? Oh, no. This is going bad. Why is it a problem? This is going badly. Look at me. Hey, here we are with Fat Mike. Go ahead, Ruben. What's going on? Again, we want to encourage everyone to come on down. What does it look like for you guys so far? I mean, with the numbers coming in. Actually, our listeners have done a lot. You can see that there's a lot of listeners that actually came and hung out here. It's all about the support. Again, Rock 105.3. Come on, guys. Thank you. It's here for Chubby Mike. All right. Thank you. She's great. Thank you. Thank you very much for coming by. Are we still on television? I don't know. Yeah, I say yes. Thank you guys. Have a good morning. Thanks. That's hysterical. That's hysterical. Thank you guys. Thank you guys. That's funny. Wow. Is that the first thing that came to your mind? Yeah, I mean he comes up here with his smile. That was awesome. Thank you Ruben. Oh, that's funny.
Oh, that is so funny. I'm telling you, she has no BTMF, the brain to mouth. There is no BTMF. She will say what comes to her mind. I thought that was nice, Ashley. I am Mexican. All right, let's take a break. We'll be back. We're live at Qualcomm. Come give money. We're in Section F2. Love to have you give money. And it's all going to the Fire Relief Fund. We'll be back. It's the Mikey Show. It's Rock 105.3. That's the ultimate hang zone. All right. If you are one of the over 100,000 Volkswagen owners here in San Diego County, please listen carefully to this important free service announcement as it may benefit both you and your car. For over a decade now, every new VW has come with a HEPA smoke and pollen filter which cleans the air you and your passengers breathe while you drive. Given the recent fires in San Diego County, we're concerned that this air filter may have absorbed the lingering smell of smoke and potentially harmful ash. So, in concern for your health and your comfort, the seven Volkswagen dealers here in San Diego County have volunteered to replace this smoke and pollen filter in your Volkswagen for free. If you drive a 1998 or newer Volkswagen, stop by any of our seven San Diego County Volkswagen dealers during their normal service department hours, and they will install a new filter in your car at no cost to you. Please visit sdvwdealer.com. Filter supplies are limited. And please respond to this offer before the end of November. Thank you for your attention. Oh, my. The cocagna. Are you serious? A little toot. All right. Who did it? Martina Hingis. Oh, yeah. You know what? That makes me so happy. Well, wait, wait, wait, wait. Before you freak out, here's what I heard about this story. I'm sure she did it, first of all. But second of all, she's claiming innocence. Well, what she's saying is that she didn't do it. And that she is.
And that she is so outraged by the story and she was already at a place where she wanted to retire that she's out. I'm so sure that's what happened. I feel really bad for her then. I believe her. She's the victim here. Totally. Tyler, what I need you to do is make sure that microphone is like this close, but Tyler... How do you pronounce your last name? Gilliland. Gilliland. Okay. And Tyler, how old are you, man? I'm 14. Tyler's 14, and he's hanging out with us. He's a guy that lost his house in a fire, right? Yeah. Whereabouts do you guys live? Oh, we lived in Westwood in the Rancho Bernardo area. Okay, cool. Now, I'm going to talk to you about all kinds of different stuff. Now, first of all, you're 14, and I can tell just when you came up here, I was like, I wish I was that cool when I was 14. Dude, you know what? I want to feel bad for you because you lost your house and everything. Right. But you got that cool kid haircut. I know your money with the ladies. I don't feel that bad for you. I'm sorry. Oh, Eddie. He lost his house. Now, Tyler, I'm going to walk through the process with you, okay?
Because you say that you guys are from RB, and what part of RB was it again? Westwood. Okay, so when did you first become aware that the fires were going on and that something was up? About 4.30 in the morning, my dad came in the room and said that my mom had called, that the fires were pretty close. Wait a minute, what does your mom do? She used to be a firefighter. Okay, okay. So one of her friends called her and said that the fire was really close to our house. Wow. So when I woke up, We kind of ran outside to see how close it was to see if we could see it glow, and the fire was coming over our neighbor's house. Really? Holy moly. Yeah, so they were still in the house, so my mom came home and ran into their house and, like, broke their window to try and get them to wake up, and they came down, and they got out really safe, or they got out safely. Wow. So that was cool, but we didn't get out with anything. Do you have a lot of friends in the neighborhood? Yeah, I had a couple friends in the neighborhood and we called them and they got out too, so that was good. So were you basically waking them up? Did their families even know when you called them? No, we didn't really get a warning.
A couple of the people on the street got reverse 911 calls, but the other people didn't really get warnings. So we honked the horns as we drove down our street and woke a couple of the people up. That's a good idea. Your mom saved lives. That's huge. Yeah, heroes, your family. That's awesome. For sure. So where did you guys go? Where did they have you go? We evacuated down to Coronado, where my grandma lives. So we stayed there for about three days. So as soon as you got there, you're turning the news on. Did you guys happen to see your house go up? No. My mom's friend... since he was a firefighter, drove past our house to see if there was anything left, and he said it had all burned down to the ground. Really? That was just sad. Now, when you got that news, you're over at your grandma's house, right? Yeah. And so you get the news with your mom and dad? Yeah, and my sister. Oh, man, that's brutal. And basically, of your own personal possessions, what were you able to take with you? My dog and my snake and two of our cats, or one of our cats, but the other two didn't make it, so that was sad. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. That's unbelievable, man. So when you guys were leaving, you were able to get animals and stuff like that, but you were telling me you were not able to get any personal things? No, I didn't get any of my trophies that I've won throughout the years, or we didn't get any family photo albums or videotapes as me and my sister.
as kids and stuff like that. What's the one thing that you're most bummed out that you didn't get? Let's see. I'm really bummed about our two pets that we had to leave and then all the photo albums that we had. That was really sad. Now, are you still staying right now at your grandma's house? No, we found a rental place in Forest Ranch that we're going to stay in that for two years while we rebuild our new house. How long do you think it'll take? Have they told your parents how long it'll take? Well, my dad's estimating about two years because we had friends whose house was burned down in the cedar fire. And they said it took about two years to get everything back to normal. Wow, man. So, I mean, what is life like on a daily basis for you guys? You are in this house. You're in a rental house and none of your own personal things. How are you getting by in that way? It's a little rough, but we have great friends, and that's kind of helping us through all this and stuff like that. What about school? Are you back to school? Yeah, I'm back to school. My teachers are kind of giving me a break from some of the work. Nice. Way to go. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Hey, listen, man, you should get A's for the rest of the school year as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, right? Yeah, just A's.
Thanks for Tyler. They should do that, but what about your friends in the neighborhood? They're all being really supportive. None of their houses burned down, fortunately. It was just ours, so that was... That was a good thing. But they're really supportive in helping me through all this. Well, listen, man. And you're on a baseball team? Yeah, the California Lookouts. What's going on with the California Lookouts? We're all really close. They all came and helped me sift through our house and helped us try to find stuff. So that was really helpful. Almost all of our team made it out on Saturday. What position do you play? I play left field and third base. Oh, look at you. Did anything survive in your guys' house? Not really. We had a couple pieces of my mom's china that my grandma gave us. And I kind of found like a burnt baseball in our garage.
So that was cool. You've got to hold on to something, man. You've got to keep something. If you find anything, you've got to keep it. But listen, Tyler, man, it's really cool that you came down here. And I'm glad we had an opportunity to talk to you. And is there anybody you want to say hi to or anything like that? I want to say hi to all the lookouts that are hopefully listening right now. And I want to say hi to my mom and my sister and my grandma. That's awesome, dude. Wow, he's really good on the air. Do you read the news? Eddie, he's 14. I do the news. He's really good on the air, that's all I'm saying. Well, he's great, but this is my job. Hey, we're kidding around, Tyler. Until we're off the air, and then we'll talk to you about it real seriously. We'll talk to your agent. Hey, Tyler, thanks for coming by, man. We really do appreciate it, and good luck to you and your family and getting everything figured out, and we hope it all works out, man. All right, thanks, guys. Yeah, you bet. Thanks, Tyler. How are we doing on time, Eddie? Good. All right. Let's get back to some other stuff. I have lost my connectivity again. No, my will to live is fine. Oh, well, since you lost the internet. Connectivity. It would be tough to go on. Why do you have to be this way? You're really something else today. I'm not something else today. I'm stating facts. I love it. How are we doing in the silent auction with all the people that are evil, by the way? They're not evil. If you want to take something home, if you want to donate but still take something home, the silent auction is the place for you. I know a way to make us all feel better. How's that?
Let's do a little dumb chick challenge. Oh! I love it. Let's do some dumb chick challenge. I thought we were doing stuff. There it is. There's the theme song. There's the theme song. Let's do this thing. Alright, so here's what we need. We need a girl to call in. We need a P1 dumb chick. And what we do is we ask questions. The questions are assigned a point value, one through three. Don't let them cheat. Ones are easy, threes are hard. I know, I bent the paper. I didn't want to be able to look at it. Very smart. And I'm sure they already did. Oh, yeah, we're such cheaters. Well, at least you're being honest about it. It's called sarcasm. It's sarcasm, Sean. That's a first. So what we do is we ask the girls these questions in the first person to five points.
is the winner ones are easy threes are hard uh do we have somebody on the line we're waiting for a dumb chick to call 570-1053 is a phone number we're looking for a girl in the audience willing to play the dumb chick challenge you can tell me on the microphone as soon as you find somebody call in smart girls so we make this real quick yeah i know what p1mj all right it's p1 mary jane uh yeah i don't know what her name is p1mj are you there yeah what's up This is MJ. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What up? MJ, how old are you? I am 21. What part of San Diego do you live in? Fallbrook. All right, let's get this show on the road. Right on. Are you okay? Was your house affected by evacuations or anything? Yeah, we were evacuated for like 14, or not 14. I think it was like a total of 36 hours or something, and then it was voluntary evacuation. Our house was fine. Three blocks from us, everything burnt down, but our house was good. Oh, man. You're doing okay? Yep. Yep. All right, MJ. Let's play a little Dump Chick Challenge. We're going to start with Sky this time because the listeners started first last time. No, that's not how it went. That's not how it went. Oh, we're going to start with Ashley? Yep. Ashley, what do you want? A one, two, or three-point question? Let's see. What's her coach saying? Yeah, what's her coach saying? Tell me to bunt. Well, but that doesn't apply to this game. What do you want, Ash? I don't know.
Give me a one, guys. What the hell? Give me a one, guys. I think she said, I'm real dumb, guys. No, she did not. She did not. She did not. She said, give me a one. You said, give me a one. One. Ashley, your one-point question is? Oh, this is so embarrassing. In the children's song, Bingo, who owned Bingo? That's a great question. Ashley's thinking. You got this, girl. You got it. See, Ashley's thinking. She's singing it. Who owned Bingo? Who owned Bingo? Oh. There was a man who owned a dog and Bingo was a snake. What? There was it. Come on, Ashley. Are you kidding me? You can do it. This is brutal. It was a farm at Old McDonald. Who was it? Old McDonald had a farm. Bingo was a snake. Old McDonald had a dog. Oh, Ashley. In the children's song Bingo, who owned Bingo? Old McDonald. I guess it's not right. No.
Those are two different songs. Those are two different songs. Ash, I'm sorry. That's incorrect. The farmer actually owned a bingo. There was a farmer that owned a bingo. It wasn't Old MacDonald. Old MacDonald was a farmer. I think that should count. Yeah, that's what she meant. You guys know what she meant. You know what she meant. Raise your hand. All the P1s here. Well, actually, let's do it since it's radio. Why don't we do it by sound of applause? If you believe that that is incorrect and that old McDonald's should not count, let me hear you by applause. It's kind of confusing. If you believe that she should get the point for saying the farmer makes some noise. That's Skye. Yeah, but she accounts for Qualcomm Stadium. God, I know. My eardrum broke. Let's give her the point. Let's give her the point. What? That's clearly wrong. Well, yeah, but they're clapping here. Are you kidding me? Sky's making noise. That's ridiculous. All right, Sky. Ashley gets a point. Oh, my God. That was terrible. I love it. Way to go, girl. MJ, would you like a one, two, or three-point question? I'll take a two-point question. You got it. All right. Strategy. All right, MJ.
Your two-point question is, what famous person said, nothing is certain in life except death and taxes? Oh, my gosh. What famous person said, nothing is certain in life except death and taxes? Let's see. Well, it doesn't help that I'm a freaking blonde, so... It does help that you're dumb. It's the dumb chick challenge. Perfect. Just give me a guess. I hope she's not driving while she's thinking. I'm going to say the Dalai Lama just because I'm creative. That is incorrect. The Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama. One of his famous saints. He pays taxes, right? Yeah, he's very concerned with taxes. Yes. No, the answer is...
Ben Franklin. Close. Very close. Never would have thought of that. I believe they were cousins. All right, Skye, you can wrap it up right here with a five-point question. Well, we don't. There are no five-point questions. What do you want, Skye? A one, two, or three-pointer? I'm going to request a two-pointer, please. You got it. Okay, nobody look at me. Skye, I believe you may get this one. Oh. What is the name given to the group of California-bound settlers that resorted to cannibalism? In 1846. Are you kidding? Hannibal. Jeffrey Dahmer. Sky, do you know it? Are you trying to think of it? I'm trying to read your body language. This is what's going on in my head. First I thought of that movie where the plane crashed and the people like... My answer is Ethan Hawke. And then I'm thinking it has something to do with a trail of some sort. Like they were traveling on a trail. Trail mix. The trail mix group. The Oregon Trail. I don't know, Mike.
Take a guess. Come on. Come on, Skye. Take a guess. Ethan Hawke. Ethan Hawke's incorrect. What? It's the Donner Party. Oh, well, that's easy. Easy, Mike. Ashley, what do you want? A one, two, or three point question? What's Eddie giving you? What sign did he give you? What are you going with here? This is a secret play, but it's doable. You know what I mean? I do not know what you mean. If you're asking, I do not know what you mean. I said, give me two guys. Ashley would like a two-point question. Yes. You got it, kid. Your question is, what do you call the formal training place? Let me say this again. What do you call the formal training place for the martial arts used by the Japanese? What do you call the formal training place? For the martial arts used by the Japanese. What's that called? Ashley or Sky, do you know this one? Yeah. Sky knows this one? Ashley knows it too. You do know it. You have to know it. What do I know? The formal training place? What is a formal training place for the martial arts in Japan called? I don't know.
I don't even know what that question is. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I don't understand the wordage of that question. The wordage? You know how like boxers work out at a gym? Don't help her. What are you doing? I'm explaining the question. You're not allowed to. How did that give her the answer? I was explaining the question. You're helping. Well, part of getting the answer is that you have to understand it. Oh, whatever. Technicality. What do you call the formal training place for the martial arts used by the Japanese? It's the karate. It's where they do... Are you saying that it's the karate? That's the name? I don't know. You do know. You do know, but you don't want to get it in the sky. I don't think it's going to affect her personal life here. It definitely will not, MJ. Good call, MJ. MJ's right. You're absolutely right. Ashley, you know what it was. It's a dojo. I've never heard of that. Oh, jeez. The Stephen King book. How about the dog? Yeah. All right. Remember the gay kid from Full House Design? Who's the boss? Well, whatever, man. All right. MJ? Yeah. Come on, MJ. One, two, or three-pointer. I'm going to go for the three-pointer. You got it. Get it, girl. You can end it all right here.
Did she get two points last time? No. We're playing a three now. Here you go. Your three-point question is George Washington was the first president. Thomas Jefferson was the third. Who was the second president of the United States? I know this one. No, you don't. No way. Abraham Lincoln. That is incorrect. Ashley, who is it? Adams. John Adams. That is correct. Whoa! Three! Very nice. Dang it. Very good. Very good. Why didn't you ask for a three-ass? That would have been awesome. My base coach. You told me to do the special steel move. Sky, what do you want? A one, two, or three-pointer? I'm going to try another two. You got it. Sky. That's embarrassing. Yeah. Sky, what does CIA stand for? The Central Intelligence Agency. You got it. Hey, she's on the board. You can put her on the board. Oh, my God.
The Culinary Institute of America. Of course. All right, Ashley, it's back to you. She's looking at Eddie. She's trying to figure it out. What is she going to take? I'm going to try it for a three. Wow. Well, she obviously was good at it. She would have known her last one. She's great at the threes. Yay. Ashley. Ashley, what famous American poet published The Raven? What famous American poet published The Raven? It's impossible. Dr. Seuss. Frost. Frost. Is the last name. That is incorrect. Good guess, though. The answer is Edgar Allan Poe. Whatever. Almost the same thing.
Not going to affect your personal life. I'm really glad that I learned that. Not going to affect your personal life. It's really going to make my weekend a lot better knowing it. Okay. MJ, what do you want? One, two, or three-pointer? You know what? I'll just take a two-question, two-point, two-point. You got it. Your two-point question is, let's see, where is the city, Perth, located? I'm sorry. I said, where is the city, Perth, located? Spelled... Who cares? Okay. You don't need to do that. Whatever. I mean, but Ashley, you don't have to care about it to know it. It's just general knowledge. Can I just ask you, like, is it in the United States or is it another country? Well, yeah. Let's just give it to you. Start narrowing it down where it is for you. You know, I can't help you. All right, well... Take a guess. Just guess. How about Alabama?
So close. Perth, Alabama. Birthplace of the banjo. Go ahead, Ash. Egypt. That is incorrect as well. That is incorrect. It's actually located in... You guys yell it out. Australia is correct. Whatever. Sorry about that, MJ. So embarrassing. Is anybody on the board, Eddie? Yeah, Ashley has one point, MJ has no points, and Sky has two points. All right, Sky, you can wrap it up right here, Sky. Awesome. Let's try and wrap this up. Skye, your three-point question is... Oh, man, make it an easy one. Where is the River Thames located? Where is the River Thames located? Look at all the P1s that are out here. Immediately they know. I mean, P1 Ryan has given me the international sign for, come on. Where did I pick up Renzi? You come on. The only place I know is Africa, and the only reason is because I bought a manservant there. That's where I found my white manservant, is that what you're saying? South Africa. That's right. Apartheid, hello? Look into it. My manservant, Ramsey. Come on, Sky, you can do it. Okay, shut up. Egypt? That is not right. No way. Just go with Egypt. No way. Just go with Egypt. Just don't go with Egypt. It's my fallback answer. Don't go with Egypt.
Ethan Hawke. Guys, yell it out. What city is it in? 1842. It's in London, England. See, Brian's the only one, so shut up question. Wow, maybe Sky's right. He is the only one that yelled it out. Everybody else look at me all glassy-eyed like a deer. These aren't as easy as you guys make it sound. Wow. Yeah, it's real easy to judge through your radio. Listen, it was a hard question. It was a three-pointer. Whatever. I mean, they're not the easy ones. We want people to come out here and give. Shut up. Well, our show's almost over. Once I leave, they can come out here. Ashley. What up? One, two, or three-point question. What's the point, man? There's no reason to keep living at this point. I don't care. I don't care. Then let's just go for a three. Yeah. Well, why not? Yeah. Why not? Come on, Ashley. Ashley, what is the religious text of the Islamic religion called? Come on. You know this. You know this. Think about it. Come on. The religious text, so how they write. The text message? Of the Islamic. Critical wireless? Can you say the question one more time and then I will give an answer.
What is the religious text of the Islamic religion called? Arab. That is incorrect. It is? Dang it. I thought she had it. Koran. So over this. Oh, like our program director. Shauna Koran. MJ? Oh, boy. Oh, look at Ashley. She is over it. She's over it. I don't blame her. This is stupid. MJ? What do you want? A one, a two, a three? I want to try and wrap this up. Give me a three. You got it. Wrap it up. You haven't even scored. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Let's end it right here. You need five points to win. Give her a math question. I'm sorry. Too much coffee. I'm sorry. My bad. So mean today. Your question is, what is the name of Hitler's autobiography?
Thankfully, we got a racist on the line that knows what the thing's called. You know what? I've seen that movie American History X like 10 seconds. That's why. That's why. Okay. And he's like, really? That's kind of weird. It's kind of scary, actually. Sky, a one, two, or three-point question. I'm a three-pointer. I'm going to try and wrap this up again. You got it, Sky. We're going to do it this time, Mike. Come on. Please. Come on. I got to get my questions in order. Easy one, Mike. Let's go. Something about Nicole Richie. Come on. Sky. Yeah, that's a tough one. Who was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence? Who was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence? Oh, gosh. Like, I have an answer, but if I'm wrong... Oh, man. Is it John Hancock? Yes, Sky! Yes! We have a winner.

Hey, welcome back. We're going to be wrapping up from out here. We're going to turn it over to Missy. We're live at Qualcomm. Love to invite people to come out here to Section F2 and please donate some money. It's going to be a great way to give back to the community. Over $20,000 has been raised out here so far, which is just absolutely amazing, man. But we need more. Come on. These people are really in need. They lost their homes. That's right. That's right. So everybody, thank you for coming out here. I want to thank everybody that has taken the time to come up here today from the mayor. to all the people from Cal Fire, to Mayor Ron Roberts, everybody that came out, or Councilman Ron Roberts, everybody that came out here today, and even Joe Rogan, who's going to donate his take tonight from his comedy show to the Fire Relief. Thank you, everybody that did that. And also, back at the studio, Priceman, thank you, dude. Great job. Seth did a great job. Back at the station as well. See Tony Gwynn roaming around here, too. So if you want to meet Tony Gwynn, come donate and come meet Tony Gwynn. Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn. That's right. So, all right. We've got to wrap it up from out here on Friday. And thank you, by the way, also to our promotion department and to our engineering staff who did a great job of getting us all set up out here. Thank you guys very much for everybody that came out and helped. At the end of the show on Fridays, I give my testimony. And basically...
The idea behind it is that there's a lot of people that, especially right now, I talked about this last week too, there's a lot of people that may be experiencing exactly what I was experiencing at one time, which was a sense of hopelessness. And I talked to Craig Gassa yesterday, and I was talking to him about this because I've just passed three years of being sober in my life. But there was a time when I was addicted to alcohol, It was a very lonely and lost time in my life. And there's a lot of people that are going through addiction right now that are listening. And there's also a lot of people that are going through things like losing their home, losing their families, losing somebody that's close to them, going through a divorce, God forbid, losing a child, or somebody that is just experiencing something that has to do with money. or anything that is just dragging and bringing you down. And that's why I always talk to you about how when I was going through that in my life, Jesus Christ made everything change for me. Once I invited him into my life, everything changed for me. And it was almost like a supernatural experience. But today, I can tell you that I am a much happier guy than I used to be.
That I got a wife and a little kid. And thank God, a home. And there's a lot of people that are struggling right now without those things. It's a great reason to come down here to Qualcomm today and give some money. When you drive through here, you can donate the money. And it'll be great. And it will give somebody a sense of hope. That's why we play this song at the end of the show on Friday. It's about hope. And the band is called Third Day. The song is called Tunnel. And I always tell people to really, really listen to the words to this song. The song is about hope. And so come out here, give some money, and we will see you again back at the studio on Monday morning. Bubbling and talented Missy's up next, and the Mikey Show is out. Thanks for coming out, guys. Late.
