Mikey and Eddie treated the Chargers' narrow win over Indianapolis as an indictment of Norv Turner and Philip Rivers, while Shawne Merriman argued that the defense earned credit for competing through all 60 minutes. Ashley publicly cooled a fast-moving romance after her friends raised doubts, and Zeth recounted being cleared by a breathalyzer despite looking impaired at a sobriety checkpoint. Holiday and call-in comedy centered on Mikey's disastrous turkey history, Ashley's unwanted Oyster nickname, embarrassing song dedications, and Sky's proposed no-lights Christmas. Ashley then turned Lions for Lambs into a funny but surprisingly coherent plot recap, while Boston Rob stunned everyone by describing a limo-fueled Temecula wine tour he had initially called uneventful.
What happened, in order
Chargers Win Blindfolded
Mikey and Eddie called the Chargers' 23-21 escape against Indianapolis mostly blind luck and blamed Norv Turner's predictable offense and Philip Rivers' regression.
The Grocery-Bagging System
The crew debated whether arranging groceries by category on the conveyor belt should guarantee sensible bags, while Mikey admitted chaotic bagging makes him furious.
Ashley Ends It On Air
Ashley explained that she was backing away from a sweet 21-year-old listener because the relationship moved too fast, her friends made her suspicious, and she was not ready to settle down.
Sober at the Sobriety Checkpoint
Zeth described being pulled into secondary screening for supposed involuntary eye movements before a breathalyzer proved he had consumed no alcohol.
Merriman Defends the Win
Shawne Merriman praised the Chargers for playing all 60 minutes, while Mikey pressed him on an offense that nearly squandered a 23-point lead despite the defense's dominant night.
Salmonella Turkey Sequel
The crew revisited Mikey's partially frozen, accidentally broiled Thanksgiving turkey and argued over thawing, brining, and how much food he should attempt this year.
Oyster Takes the Challenge
The new nickname Oyster followed an irritated Ashley into the Dumb Chick Challenge, where she first answered 'mad' instead of SOS before recovering with henna.
Dedications From the Heart
Eddie proudly recalled dedicating a Skid Row song to his first girlfriend, while Mikey confessed that his teenage choice was Peter Cetera and Amy Grant's sentimental duet.
The Substitute Bachelor
A crew member revealed that he won an on-air dating contest while impersonating his nervous roommate, who then went on the date under the false identity.
A Dark Green Christmas
Sky said her husband opposed electric Christmas lights until they installed solar power, prompting Mikey and the crew to challenge whether the tiny energy savings justified a dark holiday.
Lions for Lambs, Explained Badly
Ashley reviewed Lions for Lambs after seeing it alone, accurately traced its three intersecting plots, mocked its talk-heavy script, and admitted the political language overwhelmed her.
Boston Rob Goes Wine Tasting
Boston Rob casually disclosed that his supposedly uneventful weekend involved a 20-person limo trip to Temecula wineries, expensive samples, and a chaotic drunken ride home.

It's a Monday. We may have a couple less listeners today because it's a holiday. Today is, this guy, it's Veterans Day? Yep. So this guy says no mail, no banks. What else is closed today? No trash, no courts. Basically all holiday stuff. You don't have to pay the parking meters today. That's a good one. What about Cold Stone? Are they open? I believe Cold Stone, yes. We should go through the important one. Dairy Queen open? As far as I know, yeah. Most Carl's Juniors. San Diego County. Okay, just... Hey, listen. Just want to make sure. It is 6.05. A Ramona man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of killing his wife who went missing in 2005. Later that night, human remains were found in his backyard. Chargers were up 23-0 at one point and hang on by the skin of their teeth to beat Indianapolis 23-21. In football terms, do they call that by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin? Oh, yeah.
What a gnarly game. You know what? Seriously, let me give you an analogy of the Chargers winning last night. Because the defense, I thought, wow, you look pretty good. You look pretty good. But that offense is so smelly. But Norv Turner's an offensive genius. That's what they say, right? Don't they say Norv Turner's an offensive genius? He's the quarterback whisperer. He's supposed to make your quarterback better, not... Troy Aikman, when he got inducted into the Hall of Fame, he had Norv Turner introduce him. What? Because he says Norv Turner is really responsible for me standing here on this podium today in the Hall of Fame. Alex Smith went from a first-round bust to a decent NFL starting quarterback last year. What's going on? What the hell? Why is Phillip Rivers poop? Good question. He's poop.
That's really a good question. He's in the house tonight. I don't know, though. I'm going to give you an analogy. Sky, do you know what skeet shooting is? No. Oh, yes. Pull. Yeah. Clay pigeons. Right, right, right. Okay. Last night, it was as if we were in a skeet shooting competition. Okay. And... Let's say it was an offensive skeet shooting competition. Take the defense out. It's an offensive skeet shooting competition. You got the Colts on one side. You got the Chargers on the other side. The Colts were firing at those clay pigeons and they were missing. They were missing. If you're looking at the Chargers last night, it's as if you blindfolded us. And we turned around with a shotgun and just kept hitting those clay pigeons and somehow we won the game. Like, that's how we won last night. Pure, blind luck. Wow. Just luck. Can I ask a question? Yes, Ashley. Why didn't Norv Turner have LT run the ball more? Well, now I actually, Eddie, I really want to hear what you think about that. But I thought, is it a case of...
The offensive line has to open up some holes for the guy to run through? Well, first of all, the offense is so predictable. I mean, I can tell you the play that's going to happen before it happens. And I'm a joker. I shouldn't know that. When Lorenzo kneels in the ballgame, it's going to be a run. If I know that, then the defense knows that. And so they're so predictable, they can't get out of their own way. That's one problem. So the holes aren't there. The defense is stacking the box. They know what's going on. The other thing with... I do not understand that hole not running the football when they were backed up. They had the lead. Phillip Rivers fumbled the football into the end zone. That whole sequence was terrible. Everybody and their mother was basically begging. Can we give LT the ball here? This is where he needs to shine. And it didn't happen. I understand maybe on first down, surprising them, throwing the football. But after that, you run the ball. Especially back where you're backed up at. And so, I don't understand the play calling. There's so many stuff on offense that it's terrible. It just doesn't make any sense. Yeah, the offense looks really bad. Really, really bad. And they still managed to win the game.
Adam Vinatieri missing field goals, which he never does. Darren Sproles returning two kicks for touchdowns. Antonio Cromartie picking off three passes. I mean, it's just, you know. Peyton Manning had six interceptions. That's crazy! I mean, everything that could have gone wrong for the Colts did, and they still almost won the game. Like, that should tell you something. Oh, way. Yeah. You know, and they had a skeleton lineup. Yeah. I mean, they only had 17 people available on offense because they had so many injuries. And like two or three guys went down from even that. So, I mean, Peyton Manning had nobody. And he still almost won the game. It's crazy. You know, it makes me think that this week is going to be a tough week. Like, what are they going to figure out on offense? Like, what are they going to figure out? Is somebody going to say, oh, I got it. You can't be predictable, Norv. Yeah. Is somebody going to say that to him? Is he going to go, well, you know, I think maybe part of the problem is a little predictable. Like, what are they going to do to change the whole thing? I don't know. I mean, obviously, he has not spent enough time with Rivers. I mean, Rivers has regressed a lot. And so, you know, whatever he's doing this week, he should put that on hold.
And sit down and say, okay. Even grocery shopping, right? Everything. Everything, put it on hold. You know, your little Starbucks run in the morning. Like, all that extra time, spend it with Phillip. That little 5'6 Darren Sproles is pretty fun to watch, though. It's something else. Cut 50. Sproles, he's got it at the 45. Right up the middle to the 40. 35, 30. Angles to the 25. 20, 15, 10, 5. He did it again! How about that? It's so cool when they used that specific call on ESPN last night. Really? Yeah, I love it when you hear Josh on ESPN. You know, it's so cool. Oh, it turns out that's the second one. Here's the first one. Cut 51. Darren scrolls back with his heels on the goal line. It's a short fluttering kick. Scrolls from the 11. Right up the middle. Jabs to the right. Cut back inside. 25-30 with a break. 35-40. 45-50. The little guy dancing downfield. That's exciting.
Nice. Called him the little guy. That is. He is, man. He's teeny. Like, they were showing, you know, the players shake hands after the game. Yeah. And he looks like a child out there. A mini-mini. This guy, to put it in perspective, he's shorter than Rob. Yeah. I didn't know that was possible for a man. Wow. Wow. I just thought there was a moment. I thought there was a moment. Maybe it's Monday. It's not even 6.30 yet. But that's my room. 570-1053 is your phone number. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I'm 37. Eddie is our producer, our sports guy. He's 34. Sky is our news girl. She's 30. Sean is our sound effects man. He is 37 years old. Is Sean wearing a bathrobe? I think it's a kimono. Wait, what? Oh, no. It is a shirt. No, wait a second, Sean. In fairness. It's just a windbreaker. Oh, it's a windbreaker. It's a windbreaker. Now, you were leaning down, and for a moment, I thought you had just gotten out of the shower. Oh. For a moment. And then I realized, no, there's no shower there. No, there's not. It is not a shower. No, it is not. It's not a robe. No, it is not. Ashley is our assistant producer. She's 24 years old. It's called a cover-up.
It's a cover-up. It's not a cover-up. I think that's what it's called. Boston Rob is our phone screener. He's 24 as well. And Zeth is 22 years old. And I found out this morning that he's not going to be on the show very much. Oh, no. What does that mean? Apparently, Shauna is cutting back his hours. What? Why? I don't know. I just found out for you. Zeth, what did she say? Why? She said, corporate red flagged my time cards. So I guess I'm working too many hours as a part-time employee. Do you work for the radio station outside of the show? No. Well, how would they not know this before they allowed you to start working with us? I don't know. Boy, that's really genius. That's strange. Well, I guess I'll find out about it at some point. Well, maybe I won't. Why didn't they tell you? I have no idea. I'm just the host. What do I know? People are calling in about the Chargers. P1 Walk is on the line. Hey, morning, Mikey. What's going on? What's happening? Hey, I just, you know, I was one of the few people that believed, you know, we were going to win. I knew it was going to be close and it was going to be hard, but I never once said the Colts were going to win. I didn't have it down my mind. And, you know, it wasn't the prettiest game, but, you know, don't call it lucky. We had a really fight for that one.
It wasn't luck that Eli Manning threw six interceptions. Eli Manning? But Eli Manning plays for the Giants. Well said. Hang on a second. I'm sorry. I know, I know. I'm just messing around. Eli played so horrible. Wait a second, though. Dallas said it rubbed over to Peyton. But walk. I knew we were going to win after watching the Dallas game. But hey, walk. Walk, are you there? P1 walk? Yes. What about Adam Vinatieri missing field goals from, you know? 20 yards away. Extra point. Yeah, extra point. I mean, that doesn't seem like luck to you. This is a guy that's going to be in the Hall of Fame as a kicker. He's a Hall of Fame kicker. Wait, say what? I didn't hear you. It was that San Diego mist, that little weather that just shined upon us. So wouldn't that be luck? Yeah. Wouldn't that be luck walk? I believe it was fate. That's fate. All right. It's garbage. All right. Well, you're a fan. It's all good. Got to respect it. Hey, it wins a win. We'll take it. That's right. We will take it. Thank you, Wok. That's Wok. W-A-L-K, not W-O-K. Oh. I thought she was a Stir Fry fan or something. P1 Jessie? Hi, I just wanted to call and say thank you so much for John Lovett's tickets on Friday. It was like a blast. Was the show cool and everything? Yeah, it was hilarious. Like, we were going to go to the movies, and we went there instead. It was like the best time. That's cool.
It was freaking, I would promote it to anyone who wants to go to a show, like, because it keeps going on for, like, weeks to come. Uh-huh. It was, like, kick-ass, seriously. Very cool. Right on. Thank you very much. Thank you so much. You got it. That Qualcomm Stadium, you know, my dad asks if I'll take him to a game, usually once a season. Last night was the game. And we get to go up into that skybox. My dad really likes it because he likes to eat the snacks. He loves the snacks. He lives for those snacks, and he's very open about his love for the snacks. He loves the snacks they have. And we're sitting there, and I think I've mentioned this before, but there's actual gigantic electrical cables on the floor bundled up with electrical tape through the skyboxes at Qualcomm. It's a toilet. What? It's the worst. If it rains at Qualcomm Stadium, there's so many leaks in the overhangs and stuff, you're not covered, ever. And it puddles up so badly. The drainage system there is so bad. Last week, one of the sprinklers broke on the field and flooded the entire field, so they had to re-sod the entire field for the game last night. This place is a jalopy.
It's awful. I would have said, just get rid of it. Once I saw the sprinkler break, I would have said, you know what? It's like a fan belt breaking, and you go, you know what? My car, it's a junker. Let's just get rid of it. Let's just go play it. Honey, isn't it going to cost more for us to fix the car than if we just got a new one? But that sounds like such a hazard, Mike, like for someone to trip. I mean, especially an older person. There was like, I mean, these cables, I mean, it's not like one cable. It's a bundle of cables and they take that zip string, the white plastic zip string, and they zip it to, you know, so that it's in bundles. And then leave it on the floor. And it's just on the floor. With the rain. Oh, it's so, I go, how does this place meet? Right. standards of stuff. Isn't there a code about that or something? The stadium is just beat up. I'm happy to sit there. It's nice. The skybox is nice. It's just that the whole place is breaking down. It's the Vinny Testaverde of stadiums. That is a great call. P1 Ryan. Hey, how's it going, Mikey? Good, man. Dude, you know, I'm a huge Chargers fan. I
I'm only 21 years old, but from the day I came out the womb, I've been a huge Charger fan. I am so fed up with Norv Turner. You've got to back me up, man. Five minutes left and we're throwing the ball? What is the deal? You know, I said it all day yesterday, and I said it last week. Norv Turner, I mean, he... I'm still waiting for this offensive genius. I don't understand, you know. It's terrible. Hang on a second. I'm sorry I upset you, buddy. Don't cry. Hang on a second before everybody starts criticizing. I think I'm doing a pretty good job here. You're not, though, at all. The offense is regressed a ton. Name one thing that has gone wrong. Everything? I said one thing, you say everything. See, you're just making things up. Philip Rivers. He's a great quarterback. He's great. What did he do wrong last night? Well, everything. Well, name one. Well, he fumbled the ball in the end zone. It almost cost us a game. That's not good. He shouldn't do that. He can't even get the snap from center. Well, he's nervous. He can't get the snap from center. Oh, no. That's slippery. He's playing football. It's cold. No. There's rain. That's San Diego. Yeah, well, okay. I suck. Thank you. Oh, no.
And he comes home crying to his mom. I'm telling you, man. Garbage. What's going to happen? It's garbage. What's going to happen? What's going to happen? Eddie, look into the future. Tell me what's going to happen with Norv Turner. How long? And I'm saying this after a win. Yeah. I'm saying this after we won the game. How long will the Norv Turner experiment last in San Diego? Because at the end of the day, I do not look at the San Diego Chargers and go, yeah, Super Bowl team. They can go out there every game, put on a blindfold, turn around, and shoot the shotgun and hit those clay pigeons down like last night. It's just not going to happen that way. You know, I don't know. I really don't know. It scares me because... Yesterday, Josh was on the pregame show with us, and he was talking about how bad the AFC West division is. And man, the Chargers, they can squeak by and go 9-7 and still get in the playoffs. And I go, wait a second. This is what it's come to now? We're now hoping we squeak into the playoffs with 9-7? That's terrible. That's terrible. And I don't want to just squeak into the playoffs and take my playoff loss and go home. We could have done that with Marty.
I don't want that. I want a championship. No, that's it. That, what you said right there, that's a capsule of the Chargers. Yeah. And that's it. It's brutal, man. You can't just go in there and... Yay, let's hope we make the playoffs. Let's squeak in. Yay. Like, no. I mean, we're making it in because the Raiders and the Broncos and the Chiefs are that bad. Yeah. Like, that's not a way to win. Yeah, that sucks. It's terrible, man. It is. So, anyway. I'm sure everybody's going to be calling about that this morning. So I'm sure we'll get into that. Hey, you know what I want to ask you guys? This may be weird, but I had to ask you because I've been thinking about it. I went grocery shopping this weekend, and I noticed that I do something every time I grocery shop. I'll have my basket of groceries, and when I put them on that conveyor belt, I put them in order of the way I want it bagged. And if it's not bagged that way, I get angry. Like, the person that's doing the bagging, like, they don't understand the philosophy. Like, meat goes in the bag. Right, I set it up for you. Yeah, it's perfect. Sky, you do that? Oh, yeah, I've always done that. Oh, you do it too? Yeah, you put your, like, frozen stuff together. Absolutely. You put, like, your dairy stuff together. Your veggies. And, like, the breakables you want over here. Your toiletries. Who else on the show does it? I definitely do that. I did the same thing.
Yes! You guys all do that? I thought I was crazy. I do not. That's just chaos. Yeah, you just throw it up there all willy-nilly or what? You're going to get the cans with the eggs and stuff like that? Well, I'll tell you what my thought process here is. Taking my car to a mechanic, I think he knows how to fix my car. I put my stuff on the thing, I think the kid knows how to bag groceries. But it's clear he doesn't. Come on, guy. Go through your groceries next time and see what's bagged together. You guys are putting something in my head. You know how you changed everything for me going down escalators? Who was it? Was it Sean? Sean, your wife? Sean changed my escalator life forever because he said, do you realize, or was it my wife? It was your wife and then Sean reiterated it. Don't touch the rubber mat thing that lays across the escalator with your hand because it's full of everybody's disgusting germies. And now I have to stand straight when I go on an escalator because I'm afraid to put my hands on that toilet of an escalator rubber. Wow. Now I'm thinking to myself,
Groceries are all messed up. Well, yeah. They put the chips in there with your can of chili, and then the chili smashes against the thing. And you're like, well, that was dumb. Aren't they supposed to know not to do that? Yeah, but they don't. I mean, there's 17-year-old kids. They don't care. But you should take the warning from Eddie that just because you do this isn't a guarantee. That is true. And when they don't follow through with what you've set forward there for them, then it kind of makes you a little more angry. yeah i was furious this weekend i mean it was it was beautiful my setup yeah and not i mean it was just after that it was like pure chaos so you put them and is there like a uh this is what i'm wondering is there a point where they know oh different bag yeah they should yeah because i mean i mean it's damn obvious and it also makes unloading your groceries at home easier yeah i agree with you Really? Yeah, because say you have a bag of all your hairspray and tissues, well, you immediately take that to the bathroom, and then you have another bag. You got the canned goods, you got the frozens, you got the meats, you got the, you know, all kinds of good stuff. See, I'm assuming that these 17-year-olds are pros. Yeah, right. Yeah, special school. P1 Levy's on the line. Levy, are you there? Hey, Mikey, this is Levy.
I used to work as a grocer at Albertsons, and we used to go through training to actually bag groceries. But when you actually line them up for the grocers to bag, it helps them out a lot. Oh, really? But why don't you do it if it's lined up that way? Why don't I do it? Well, not you in particular, but most people that are baggers, they don't. Why don't they bag them up right? Yeah. Why don't they bag them up the way that the customer has clearly... Well, they only go to school for like four hours. And you've got them taking a cap. They're only like 17-year-olds. I mean, if you think about it, it does help them, but a lot of them are morons, too. That's true. Thank you for the call. All right. I'm doing it every time now. Yeah, you have to. Yeah. Yeah, now I'm convinced that if I don't, it's going to be all messed up. Yeah. Get your bread all squished. The bread's the worst. Yeah. Because then you've got to go back. It's awful. You've got to drive all the way back.
I drove all the way back to the grocery store a couple weekends ago because I got home and realized that I was undercharged by about $20. Wow. Undercharged? Yeah. Wow. She didn't charge me for two bags of, or two big boxes of cat litter. Oh, would you have it on the underneath thing? No. No, I didn't. I did not have them on the underneath thing. And she just didn't? They were in my basket, and I told her, hey, I have two in the basket here. And she goes, oh, okay. And she didn't ring him up. And I had to go back. And I didn't want to. But felt better not stealing from the store. I wouldn't have gone back. You would not? No. Yeah, I would have felt guilty. Britney Spears has failed a drug test. Uh-oh. So this thing where... Now, wait a minute. Now...
Her attorney said, though, that the issue was that she's a rock star, and that's why she doesn't go to the drug test at 8 o'clock in the morning. Right. And that the judge doesn't understand what it's like to be a pop star. She's so busy with interviews and photo shoots. Now, they don't say what drug. They just say she failed the test. Or did they say what she failed it for? No, they do not say. They say sources say she failed a drug test. And her camp, her team of people are claiming it was a false positive. Crack is whack. So it should make that up. Is she Floyd Landis? It should count, yes. False positive. Like, come on. Right. It was the cream. She was using the cream. Or the clear, I don't know. Oh my goodness. That's brutal. We'll have to see this week what the judge has to say about that. I know I shouldn't find that shocking, but I do. I didn't expect you to say that. I didn't think those words would come out of your mouth. Another big story here in San Diego is they found these human remains in the backyard of this dude that lives in Ramona. His wife's been missing since October 5th.
Or October of 05, sorry. And it sounds like one of those Dateline stories or something. Yeah, like seriously, like it wouldn't surprise me if we see this on Dateline, you know, coming soon. But yeah, like Mikey said, she went missing in October of 05. Her family reported her missing. It was investigated as a missing person for years. And then recently, and they don't state why, it was turned over to homicide investigators who Friday morning... took this guy into custody in the Ramona post office. They, like, waited outside the post office for him, took him into custody, and then started, and then that night, or later that day, started digging in the backyard of his house in the San Diego Country Estates in Ramona, and they said they did find human remains, but obviously, you know, they'll have to do testing to confirm if it's part of his wife's body or not. What a creepy story. Yeah. He's probably been worried for 10 years, too. I bet he's been, you know, when you do bad stuff and you know it, you're always worried. Am I going to get caught? Eats away at you. Oh, man. Do we have stuff to talk about with people on the show? Two things. Got to talk to Ashley. The romance is over. I have to find out why. I have to find out why. Because I was buying wedding presents. Wow. Whatever. And Zeth.
got pulled over for suspicion of DUI, didn't have one drink. What? He's just slow. And they let him go. Terrible driver. They gave him a breathalyzer. Racial profiling. Yeah, obviously racial profiling. I mean, he's clearly very skinheadish. Yeah. So they pulled him over. I can't wait to hear both of these stories. In fact, let's do our own little investigation when we come back. On the show today, Sean Merriman will be on. I can't wait to see what the team's feeling is about last night. We're going to do something called the Dumb Chick Challenge today. Why? Which should be good. Why not? Ashley, over the weekend, saw the movie Lions for Lambs. Cool. Yay. Now listen, if you guys don't know, Ashley is, you know, I think some people would say she's a bit of an airhead. Not into politics. Really, what you said. Two very different ways of saying the same thing. Touche. And so, we thought, hey, wouldn't it be fun to send her to see this movie, Cut 35? We can't do this again. Do what again? We can't just buy the whole little program like we did with the run-up at the first... Oh, can you stand back while my head detonates?
This is your guy, right? Is that my guy? He goes right to you. He asks you the questions. He's handing you an exclusive. It's propaganda. And we don't have to broadcast everything that the government wants us to, do we? No, we broadcast news. Oh, I cannot wait. Me either. I mean, I cannot wait. Oh, my. And I'm going to tell you right now, like, I... No, don't say anything, Ash. Save it all. I want to get every thought you have on it, but save it all. Okay. We're also going to do P1 trivia today, so somebody is going to be able to win the opportunity to come out and hang out with the show on Friday. We got all of this coming up. Don't go anywhere. Mitch Hedberg in the Stand-Up Spotlight. Show Stand-Up Spotlight. I got a belt on that's holding up my pants, and my pants have belt loops that hold up my belt. I don't know what's really happening down there. Who is the real hero? I walk by a dry cleaner at 3 a.m.
And the sign says, sorry, we're closed. You don't have to be sorry. It's 3 a.m. and you're a dry cleaner. It would be ridiculous for me to expect you to be open. I'm not going to walk in at 10 a.m. and say, hey, man, I walked by at 3 and you guys were closed. Somebody owes me an apology. I called the hotel operator. She said, how can I direct your call? Well, you could say action and I will begin to dial. Then when I say goodbye, you can yell cut. And if you want, you can wear a beret and knickers. Is a hippopotamus a hippopotamus or a really cool apotamus? It's Mikey. The Mikey Show is on. Uggs are the footwear sensation and Boot World selection will blow your mind. We're getting by with a fairly light commute here as a lot of people take the day off today for Veterans Day. Right now we've got a couple of accidents working to be aware of, though. One southbound 5 before Santa Fe Drive, now on the right-hand shoulder. We have an entry crash involving a rollover car on its top. Northbound 5 before Bass Alone in the Camp Pendleton area here in Oceanside. So use some caution around that. And a minor delay through the construction area on South 15 through Rancho Bernardo. Other than that, though... East County, South Bay Rides, we're moving right along. You've got to make up the rules as you go along. You need to stop adults and ask them if their refrigerator is running. And once you've read the comics, where do you throw the rest of the newspaper? There's did, did not, to keep going all day long. Paper airplanes to make, puddles to jump, birdies.
Nests to find, truck drivers to wave at, and all without stepping on a single crack. With so much to get through in a day, at Kaiser Permanente, we say give kids all the help you can. Help them to eat, sleep, and live being a kid to the hilt. And by that we mean eat well, sleep plenty, and live so no squishy thing goes unsquished and no stone goes unskipped across the pond. If you were a kid, you'd ask why. And if we said because, you'd ask why because. And we'd say, because we're Kaiser Permanente and we want you to thrive. So there. Mikey's show continues. Featuring Mikey. The host of the show is a freak show. Eddie. I shower at night and I do my hair at night. Gross. Sean. Well, you know what? I'm a nonconformist. Boston Rob. Nothing in my life can go. Nothing in my life. Ashley. Share. Share my food with you. The Mikey show's on. I hear you, buddy. Hi.
That's Alicia Keys. She's good. Welcome back. It is 638. Kanye West's mom died over the weekend. She was 58 years old. El Cajon's Jimmy Johnson all but wraps up the Chase for the Cup title with his fourth straight win. Our number is 5701053. You should always have it. And if you want to join the P1 Text Army, just text the word Mikey to 35253. Get hooked up with that thing. Our assistant producer is Ashley. She's 24 years old. She's been single now for a few months. About three months you've been single? Mm-hmm. And, you know, she gets asked out, I think, on a lot of dates, but she's selective. She wants to choose the right guy. Ashley went through rehab like I did, so she's newly sober as well. She's been sober, how long you got now? It's coming up on nine months. Ooh. That's awesome.
Congrats. Yeah, and it sucks because my mom's coming into town, and it sucks because she's coming into town the day that I have my nine months, and so she's not going to be here to give me my token. And I'm bummed. Well, anyway, Ashley is... So she's got all kinds of stuff going on in her personal life, but she met this guy, and he seemed really cool, and it seemed like you were really into him, and it fizzled out? I don't know. I just... I kind of already know that it's just going to be something that won't work out, and instead of doing what I normally do, which is kind of lead him on and make him seem like there's potential, and then maybe even settling for him when I know that he's not perfect for me, would be something I would normally do, and then it would be a catastrophe again. Quite frankly, I...
It escalated really quick. It was to the point where instantly we were texting, calling every day, hanging out kind of a lot. And I just kind of don't really want to do that with anybody right now. I just kind of want to chill. So you guys are not into the same things, or what was the deal? What is it that you say, I could tell that we're not into the same stuff? There was a couple things. The note he passed you? No. I thought that was cute. I think he is sweet. He passed her a note to ask her out. That's how he asked her out. He came into the studio. He was a guest and he passed a note through Boston Rob, I think. I think he is very, very, very sweet. I really don't even have anything bad to say about him. I have to definitely say my friends had a lot to do with it. They got in my head. Two different friends. I think your friends decided it, to be honest. They totally lectured me about it and were like, this guy is a listener and it's going to come out sooner or later that he is a big time listener. Listen, wait, wait, wait, wait. One more time, I got to hit on that. It's fine for somebody to be a listener. Where it would be bad is if that's all they talked about.
Or if they were using you to get close to people on the show. That would be bad. Or if it's affecting him being real with me. What is that? I don't get that. I kind of feel like... everything i say is kind of right like whenever we talk about anything like he's very agreeable and just very sweet and not not even a pushover at all but just very agreeable with me i kind of need someone who has a little like that is not a that's not show related that's a personality thing that's a guy trying to get some you know Well, it could be, I mean, that could be, there are some guys that are just like that. They're just agreeable. Yeah, and maybe that's just even how he is. Like I said, I honestly don't even have one bad thing to say about him. I just am not ready. Like, it's too soon. Like, I'm not ready. I'm not ready for any of it. Like, I just want to chill. I would like to give you advice, though. I would like you to tell your friends to bug out of your relationships. Like, that's not cool that they... I did. You did? Yeah.
And they were still doing that? Yeah. That's not cool, man. Good friends. Kaylee was coming down so hard on me, and it sucked. You know, Ashley, I've noticed, has very unsupportive female friends. Like, the whole time she's been on the show, her female friends are brutal. Because they're mean to you. Like, you have a history of having friends that, like, what was the friend that... What was the friend that did something real weird to you? The blonde one. Yeah. What's her name? We don't have to say names. But she has friends, female friends, that have, like, backstabbed her or... Well, they're all, like, crazy. They're all crazy girls. Yep, I agree with that. They are. I try to tell her to stay aware of me. Rob knows. I try to forewarn her. He does tell me that, but I don't listen to him. And then this stuff happens. You need some good chick friends. Yeah, and I have...
I have a couple. I've got a couple really awesome chick friends. And then I've got a couple like Kaylee who, you know, she gets in my head. Yeah. You can't say to a friend, yeah, that's... That person, I don't know, it's going to come out sooner or later that they're a real listener. She was like, I'll just... What do you think your friend's going to do? You'd say that to them. You're now deciding who she dates. Mind your business. She basically was like, if I were you, I would be careful. Oh, boy. That old sage that she was. And it so got in my head. It so got in my head. What an awful thing. Because I'm so warped right now. I was like, oh, you're right. This is moving too fast. Screw that. Well, no matter what, after someone says that to you, no matter what, if you continue to see that person, now you're weird. Right. Yeah. She's now made it to where if you like him now, you're weird. Because I've laid down the law. I've said that I'd be careful, which means he's crazy. That's not fair. That's uncool. And he's 21, which I think is a little young. So I'm just kind of like, you know, I just...
Well, I feel bad for you. So have you had this discussion with him? No. Oh, she just did, I guess. Were you planning on having this discussion with him or was this it? I thought you said you told him that you weren't going to continue stuff. When did I say that? Right now. No, I haven't told him anything because I just kind of do this thing where like I just... Rob, did she tell you she told him that? No, early in the conversation, didn't she say, well, usually I lead guys on, but I let him know that this can't continue? Well, she's letting him know. I guess this was the conversation. Well, good thing he's a listener. Well, otherwise he might have missed it. Yeah, he wouldn't have known otherwise. Well, it's a holiday. It all worked out. It is a holiday. It is a holiday. Love you, Matt. Zeth. Best of. Best of. Yes. Zeth, who is the youngest guy on the show, Zeth's only 22, he was leaving the radio station about 10.30 at night, and he got pulled over for the cops. They thought he was drinking. And what happened? You get the lights, the whole thing. It was actually a sobriety checkpoint they had set up by my house. Oh. Yeah, I'm going through it. Like, I was tired and I had a headache and everything, but I go and I give him my license and everything. He goes, can you pull into secondary? You're showing me some involuntary eye movements.
And by that, did he mean your tattoos? Yeah. Your skinhead? Yes, basically. Your piercings? So I pull into this bank parking lot and he pulls me out of the car and gives me the, you know, touch the finger to the nose test and stand on one foot. And I guess that wasn't good enough for him. So he gave me a breathalyzer. Yeah. And then he had to let you go, right? Yeah, I hadn't, you know, had a drink all day. So he had to let me go. .0000, yeah? I love scotch. Good for you. Thanks. Can you imagine that you're exhibiting signs of being drunk and you haven't had a drink? Not even a drop. Yeah, you asked me if I was on marijuana or any other illicit substance. Wow. I love weed. Oh, man. Were you scared? No, not really. I had nothing to be scared about. I didn't do anything wrong. As long as the cops are involved, I'm scared. Yeah. Are you kidding me? I'd have been freaked out. I'm drunk. Right. What? Go ahead. They hassle me enough to where I'm used to it. Do they really? Dude, I got my car pounded like two weeks ago. Look at this guy, though. That's true. He looks like he's up to no good. Sean Merriman's coming up on the show. Number 56. Chargers got a win last night, but it wasn't pretty. Weird. Weird win. Very weird win.

You will save that clip. Welcome back.
It's a Mikey show. It is 6.56. The San Diego Police Department refused to help Hulk Hogan last night at Qualcomm when he claimed he was being mobbed by fans. Talk about a weird game last night. The Chargers, hey, bottom line is they got the win. They beat the Colts 23-21. I'm telling you, bar none, best play-by-play voice in the business. Cut 51. Darren Scholes back with his heels on the goal line. It's a short, fluttering kick. Scholes from the 11. Right up the middle. Jabs to the right. Cut back inside. 25-30. With a break. 35-40. 45-50. The little guy. Dancing. Down run. Touchdown. Darren Spoles. If Josh Lewin is saying it, ESPN is playing it. You were all over ESPN's highlights last night, Josh. Josh Lewin's in the studio. I'm just a little. Thank you. Hi.
I'm along for the ride, dude. I mean, when Sproles takes two back, when Cromartie's picking three, when LT's doing his thing, I'm just very lucky to be there. Chargers were really lucky to win that game, too. You think? Yeah. Yeah. Wow. I'm spent. I mean, emotionally, that was... Wow. I mean, that was unbelievable last night. Listen, I mean, in the final seconds of that game, when... It was clear that the Chargers, you know, when the last play of the game, I mean, I physically went... I can only imagine what the players were like. And, you know, Venetieri missing a 29-yard field goal, the odds of that statistically, guys, were 50-1. He's hit 98% from inside of 30. So you had 50-1 odds working right there for that to happen. And it happened. And then the Chargers still couldn't make the first down to put the game away, right, Eddie? I mean, it just... Now, Josh, let me ask you. If he'd made that field goal, that he makes a million times out of a million times, if he made that field goal and the Chargers took the loss after what had happened in the first half, today, I think everybody recognizes that people would be looking at Norv Turner like, you've got to be kidding me, right? I just want a real straight A. No, they would. But here's my next part. Yes, they would, right? I'm with you. So they won.
One time out of a billion, Adam Vinatieri doesn't make that kick. So are we looking at Norv Turner any differently than had they lost it? Well, I think you've got to look at this whole team right now as why does this world-class offense generate 50 yards of offense in the second half? How does that happen? Why is Phillip fumbling constantly now? There's still some issues to work out, no doubt about it. But, boy, if ever there was a year to have this much talent and farted away, Do it this year, because the rest of the division stinks. You know, you're 5-4. You're a game up on Denver, who's terrible. Kansas City's okay, but they've got to play a really cheesed-off Indianapolis team next week in Indy. You win the game in Jacksonville, you've got a two-game lead. And it's all going to be okay, at least in terms of getting in the playoffs. Of course, what happens at that point, like you and I were talking about, I mean, who knows? That's my only issue is that, you know, as Charger fans, you know, I don't want to see us squeak into the playoffs and then one and done again. Like, I don't want to see that. I'd rather not even be in the playoffs at that point. Well, but you know what, though? There's still so much talent on this team. You know, there's so much that's gone wrong.
So far, it's just due to start going right soon. You would think so. You would hope so. But boy, I mean, one break after another in that game yesterday. How about the official review to move the ball back three quarters of the yard? That was the key of the game right there. Great stuff. And Merriman and those guys were so amped up. Defensively, it was a fun game to watch. We got him on the phone right now. Oh, that was timely. We got to get him on real quick because he's actually boarding a plane right now to Maryland. You're going back to Maryland, Sean? What's going on? Yeah, I have my annual co-drive for the shelters back in Maryland I have every year. I remember talking to you about that on draft day, the day that you were drafted, and that was one of the things that we knew about you. Yeah, I have my fifth annual co-driver at the University of Maryland I'm flying back for right now. Well, let's get into the game real quick then. You won the game, and everybody this morning is saying it was very lucky to squeak out of that game with a win. Sean, from your perspective and from the team's perspective, what was the atmosphere like after a win like that? It was ridiculous, man. We were so happy the way that game ended and the way we fought.
team for 60 minutes, and that's what it's about. I made a comment saying that great teams played for 60 minutes. Only good teams played for 30 minutes, but great teams played for 60 minutes, and we went out and played a whole entire football game. Listen, I think that as a team, it's great that you guys are saying that. Sean, in the spirit of honesty, that is not the way that I think a lot of Charger fans are feeling this morning. I think a lot of Charger fans are going, hey, that defense performed great last night for the Chargers, but that offense for the Chargers is, it's scary how much it's not doing. As we say every week, and when I talk to Phillip, I really don't, you know, I don't want to sound silly, but at the same time, I don't care too much what they do on offense, you know? We got to go out and perform no matter what. And as long as we have the attitude on defense that their score is 0-0, we're going to go outperform no matter what the situation is. Go ahead, Eddie. Sean, was that the weirdest game you've ever been involved in? You know, I keep hearing that, and I haven't watched the film yet, but it was pretty weird. Some of the breaks that we got during the game and some of the things that happened, I mean...
for that kicker to miss that field goal as accurate as he was coming into the game. I mean, it was huge in itself. But, you know, we've got to give ourselves some credit because we played that team to the end. You know, something just struck me when you answered the first question about your impressions of the game last night. Something just struck me. I have a feeling that defensive guys, when they go off the field and when they're involved in a game, they sort of, whatever they're doing on defense is the game to them. Like, I don't really think they're involved with the offense and what's going on with the offense. Offensively, it was pathetic last night. Defensively, a lot of awesome things happened. So, Sean, it sounds like to you, it's like, hey, win, it was a great game, blah, blah, blah. Dude, something's got to happen with that offense, Sean. It was terrible. Well, the thing is, it's going to be games that, you know, we're not going to go out and play the best game ever, so we're going to need a little help from the offense. And vice versa. So whenever they, you know, not playing that best game, it's up to us to step up and kind of fill their shoes a little bit and win the game. And we said that. We said we were going to be in a tough situation because we got up on those guys pretty early. You know, we got up on one of those guys pretty early. I think it was at one time, 14 or 16. It was 16 to nothing. Right. No, you were up 23 to nothing. Yeah. Yeah, at halftime, it was 23 to nothing.
23-0. So playing a team like that, knowing you have Peyton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks of all time on the other side of you, you know the game, you're not going to finish up 23-0. You know they're going to do some things and you'll move the ball a little bit and you kind of set your mind that there's no things going to happen. And it did. We just had to keep playing and we did. I saw a great play that you made where it was one of the six interceptions that Peyton Manning threw last night where You were just bowling your way to him and finally got to his ankles right as he was throwing the ball, and he was off balance, and it turned into an interception. Yeah, you know, I didn't see the play until I looked up at the jumbotron right after he replayed it. He didn't know. He couldn't step up, so he kind of just threw it all on. He really couldn't step into the pass. I think that was the play that Cromadi one-handed it. Yeah, we got Josh Lewin, the play-by-play guy for the Chargers in here. Go ahead, Josh. Shawnee, I just wanted to ask you real quick. The one play that I really dug was you going basically from one hash mark towards the other sideline to go get Joseph Adai by his last name and just kind of one-hand tackle, throw that guy like a rag doll. The run defense, I mean, obviously after what happened in Minnesota, everybody was asking what's going on with the run defense. Is that a point of pride for you? You guys did not let Joseph Adai do...
really much anything last night. No, and what happened in Minnesota, I want to say that it will never happen again. People say never say never, but to me, it will never happen again. It was one of those things that we didn't make the adjustments we needed to make, and a guy's not going to run for 300 yards or 200 yards again. It won't happen. That's just the way we played football. We had to come in and stop this guy, too. There you go. Well, listen, next week, it's Jacksonville. You're going to Jacksonville. And hopefully, who's the quarterback this week, Eddie? Well, it was Quinn Early still. And all signs are pointing to David Garrard being back next week. Oh, there you go. The quarterback is, we got to get him. There you go. That's what it comes to at the end of the day. Sean, what are you going to do on the flight? Do you read? Do you watch a movie? Do you sleep? What are you going to do? Just sleep. I'll sleep and rest a little bit and take care of my charity thing when I get in town. There you go. All right, Sean, thanks for taking the time. Good luck with Jacksonville. We'll talk to you next week. I appreciate it. Thanks a lot. All right, man. We'll see you. Catch the Bud Light Sean Merriman Report exclusively every Monday on The Mikey Show. The Mikey Show. Oh, yes! Hey, it's Clint, and if you're working in the building industry, you should be proud of what you do because it matters.
Your industry is one of the largest employers locally, and you provide new schools and other important facilities. Your products represent the American dream, and when you build a home, that's one of the last remaining handmade products in America. So if you build, you provide places to work and socialize. So thank you to the local builders and trades and their employees. And at the Building Industry Association of San Diego County, we don't just build, we build community. You can't smell it on my breath. It doesn't make me stumble around or pass out. It doesn't mess up my ability to drive. I don't wake up with a headache the next morning. But it gives me a tremendous buzz. I'm talking about gambling. I can't bet like most people. When I gambled and lost, I kept gambling. I loved the action and I thought I could win it all back. Nobody could tell I had a problem. I wouldn't believe it. For a while it was easy to hide. In the end, I lost more than money. I lost myself.
I lied. Lost my job. I hurt everyone who cared about me. If the funds become something that's hurting you or your family, get help. Call 1-800-GAMBLER. That's 1-800-GAMBLER. I don't want to use special deodorant. Welcome back. It is 7-11. Jerry Seinfeld's animated comedy B-movie was number one this weekend, making $26 million. Dick Nolan, the father of 49ers head coach Mike Nolan and former NFL head coach, passes away at the age of 75. Josh Lewin is in the studio with us. Josh is the play-by-play voice of the San Diego Chargers. Hello, LeVern. I have a question. My dad and I, we left at halftime because I got to get up early. And it was the longest first half ever. It really was. That first half went on forever. So my dad and I are going home at halftime. And I missed something. And I wanted to find out what it was because I turn on the radio and all I hear is Hank says something. And all I heard was you react to Hank and go, Hank.
And it was something about LT, but I don't know what it was. I know what you're talking about. And yeah, I did react like somebody said something inappropriate at a dinner party. I'm sure I did. What was it? No, we were talking about, it was one of the LT's runs. It went for, I don't know, three, four yards. It should have gone for nothing because everybody knows when they run 50 power now and they just, they can't get any yards on it. But LT, because he's, you know, I made the point. I just said something like, you know, just because LT is a really super strong individual, he's able to carve out three yards at second and seven. And I started, I forget what I was doing, but I was starting to look something up. I wasn't really, you know, I was half paying attention to, you know, Hank's rejoinder. And I think he said something like, and it was just very matter of fact, he said, you know, Josh, I saw LT naked this week. That's a great way. I basically did a spit take almost. Right, right. So, yeah, I'm sure what it sounded like to you was that I was just, I didn't, again, because I was like half listening, I just heard LT and naked. That really caught my attention. Seen a grown man naked? Whatever it was, whatever it was, it sounded as if.
Josh and Hank had just arrived to a Christmas dinner party. Right. And Hank had said something to the hostess about her breasts. What? I hit him with a rolled up newspaper. You can't do that. All I heard was Josh go, Hank! I didn't mean to admonish the guy. I didn't know where he was going with it. And then it turns out, and he cleared it up. He said, look, yeah, he's ripped. He's a strong man, that's true. Could have done without the visual, but you know. That's what it was. That's what you heard, sorry. There it was. Well, Josh, Give me your thoughts on the Chargers and Jacksonville now, going to Jacksonville. Well, I mean, Jacksonville, in a way, they're kind of the polar opposite of Indy in that they're freaking huge. I mean, everybody, offensive line, defensive line, they're big, physical guys. Indy's fast. And we made the point during the game, their linebackers are tiny. Bob Sanders, one of the greatest players in the league.
It's like my height. It was like 5'7", ish. And it's unbelievable how hard the guy hits. But this past game was all about the little guy, Darren Sproles. Obviously, he's 5'6", and he was the star of the game. All the Indianapolis defenders, very small. Their offensive line, relatively small. Jacksonville, big. So, I mean, they're going to hit you in the mouth. They're at home. They got a chance to get first place in their division. So that's going to be a pretty good game. Except they do have one little guy who's real good, and that's Maurice Jones-Drew. Right. So they're going to have to stop him. And again, I go back to they did a really nice job neutralizing it. Everybody knew that Joseph Adai supposedly was going to be the guy in that game. And instead, Manning throws the ball 56 times. Part of that's a byproduct that they were down 23-0. But how about the picks by Cromartie, by the way? Two of those were, I mean, the most athletic interceptions I've seen all year. Well, we said on the pregame show, you know, with Cromartie getting the start, he may not look back. He may not, you know, want to give that job up now. He looked great. That third one, and check out the Union Tribune this morning. It's on the front page. It's a great picture of him basically like reclining back at a 45-degree angle. And it's like a glue stick. You know, he's just somehow the ball sticks in his hand.
on that third pick. It's like the old Lester Hayes with his stick-em. With the stick-em. Unbelievable. And I love the celebratory hula dance he did after that one, too. As if to say, I'm going to Hawaii, punch it right now. Eddie, I got a question. So, you know, when we're, you know, specifically when I say, when is this Norv Turner experiment going to end? Which I said. And, you know, even when we were picking games, when you were picking games against the Charger girls, you know, you had to take the Indianapolis Colts. Right. You know, for all intents and purposes, Should have been an Indianapolis win. We squeaked one out. So I'm thinking to myself, you know, A.J. Smith, the GM of the Chargers, he's probably, if he heard it, he'd probably be irritated at me. He'd probably be irritated at you for picking against him. Do you think that he is going to, at what point will he get angry at what he's seeing offensively? Well, okay, to me, A.J. Smith, I mean, that guy doesn't have an ego at all, right? Right. He's very,
Gosh, I don't even know what a good word is to describe AJ. I know what word you're thinking. I know what word you're thinking, and I'm with you on not using it. He's very egotistical, and I think that Norv is the decision he made. He can't have egg on his face because he's not that type of a guy. He was the guy that ran Marty Schottenheimer out of town. I'm not saying Marty would have done a better job with this squad or not, but Norv Turner was his guy. And there's no way A.J. is just going to be like, oh, you know what, I made a mistake. Here's Norv, cut 53. Obviously, our defense creates so many turnovers. It's obvious we're struggling on offense for a number of reasons. One of the things here, when you lose the number of possessions we lost... in terms of returns. And then they kept the ball in the second half. We didn't have a lot of possessions, a chance to get near them. Obviously, a couple of our possessions started way backed up. Something we've got to address, though, is playing better on offense. Yes, that is correct. I told you before we went to break that a Santee teacher has now been arrested. Sky, he was originally being investigated.
for having sex with a student, right? Yeah, when we talked about it last week, they were not releasing his name because he was just being investigated for claims that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Well, yeah, he has been arrested. 41-year-old Josh Holler, an English teacher at West Hills High School in Santee, was arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old female student. He's been placed on leave from the school, and then, you know, it's just going to have to go through the courts now. Here's an administrator, cut 45. We are very upset and concerned about the serious nature of these allegations. Something like this should never happen on a campus. It's a tragedy. It's very devastating for the school population, for the entire community. Those are very strong words. Tragedy. So there it is. That's what's happening with that. I want to ask you guys, first of all, we're going to do Dumb Chick Challenge coming up here in just a second.
This occurred to me as I was driving in this morning, and maybe this is something we could talk about a little bit later in the hour, but have any of you guys ever done a dedication to someone on the radio? Like Casey Kasem? Yeah. Have you ever called someone, I mean, in your lifetime, when you're a kid, whatever, have you ever called a DJ at a radio station and made a dedication? No. I did it. You did? Really? Eddie, did you do it too? Yes. I remembered. This was a humiliating thing for me to admit on the radio. No. Skye? Yeah, I can't remember the song, but I do definitely remember. I would do that when I was a girl. You don't remember what, though? I don't know. Not requests, dedications? Yes. Really? Like, I remember it was, well, we'll talk about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's save it. Let's talk about it either this hour or next hour, but mine's humiliating. You're embarrassed even now that you did it? I'm not embarrassed that I did it. I was a kid. Even at the time, it made sense. It was a love song and everything. I was a kid, but it's so humiliating, the song. When I play the song, you guys are going to go, gay. Was it Killing Me Softly with his song or something like that? I wish it was that.
I wish it was that. It's so lame. Oh, no. That's good tease. I'm going to hang around and find out what it was. Eddie, is yours embarrassing? Not really. It's kind of cool. Is it a rock song? Yeah. That's cool. See, that's cool. Mine is not a rock song. Oh, mine is not a rock song. That's a power ballad. Journey. I wish it was Journey. Oh, no. I wish it was Journey. I wish I had to quit you. Thank you. Both of the guys from Brokeback Mountain are like, dude, your song is gay. Oh, no. That's all I'm telling you. Let's take a quick time out when we come back. The Dumb Chick Challenge. The Mikey Show. That's the ultimate hang zone. Do you have competitive insurance rates for California drivers? No, we're AIS, the auto insurance specialist. My son Joey and I were out at the dunes in Glamis when we spotted this family bottomed out on a sand dune in their Chevy Silverado. My Nissan Titan had higher clearance than the Chevy, so I just hooked up some towing cables and I pulled him right off of that dune. I was proud of my Titan's V8, and Joey was proud of his old man.

All right, welcome back to the show. Our phone number here is 570-1053, and you might as well get lined up because we're going to be playing the Dumb Chick Challenge here in just a moment. Boston Rob mentioned to me, hey, dude. Yeah, dude. Talk about it. When are you going to talk about that way you're going to cook the turkey this year? I'm excited. I've been thinking about it all weekend. I'm getting ready for my big Thanksgiving. I'm cooking again this year, and I don't know. Oh, no. What? You made a salmonella turkey last year. That was my first time. What did he do, Eddie? He, like, forgot to thaw it completely. I thought it wrong. He undercooked it, and it was, like, pink. No, I put it on broil. Wait a second. I think he didn't thaw it until the day of Thanksgiving. Correct. And so then he had to try to speed thaw it. No, no, no. What I did is when I thaw it, like, three days out, I let it thaw. So then I had to put it back in the freezer because I realized that was the wrong move. So then I thawed it out again that morning. So gross. Laugh out loud. And then when I went to cook it, I put it on broil. And I didn't realize it was on broil, so it smelled like it was done in like 15 minutes. And I was like, this is awesome. Wait a second. I'm confused because I'm not even really sure what you're supposed to do with this. Is it smart to buy your turkey the day before Thanksgiving and thaw it that night? What's the best way to do it?
Well, I mean, you don't want to wait that long because you're not going to have your pick of litter. I would suggest buying it, putting it in your freezer, and then taking it out the night before to let it thaw out. Buy it, freeze it, and then the night before Thanksgiving, let it thaw in your refrigerator. No, I would put it in the sink. In the sink. Let that sucker thaw completely. And then the next day, deal with it. Well, kind of by mistake, I found a fine food store online called... Straubs. It's S-T-A... Oh, excuse me. Oh, no. Here we go. I think I have an issue with numbers and letters, reading them. I really do. I have to use all my concentration. I really do think I may be... Has it always been this way, or just since you've been on the Folkland? When I... Because it seems worse, at least here in work, since you've been on the Folkland. Really? Yeah. Yeah, and I've noticed that I'm doing this thing...
on the air where it takes me a while. I have to be very like this when I'm trying to think of words. You know what I mean? Anyway, it's Straubs. S-T-R-A-U-B-S. Straubs.com. And they have a link right there on the front page that says Thanksgiving. And you click on this thing called Fire and Flavor. And it's a ready-to-go turkey brine. Takes all the guesswork out of it. Take it back! And they sell the bags that you put the turkey in. A brine is where you soak a turkey. And I brined last year delicious. The only thing about it was it was hard. You know, when you brine, a lot of times you got to go. What I had to do is I had to go out and get like a big igloo cooler. I had to put the turkey in there. I had to mix all these brine ingredients. And then... I had to put ice in it, do it overnight, this whole deal. Sweet. This makes it easy. It's brine in a bag. What do you click on again once you get there? When you get to Straubs.com, right underneath the word Straubs, you're going to see Happy Holidays from Straubs. Click on Thanksgiving. There it is. And then when you click on Thanksgiving, you're going to see the very last product is called Fire and Flavor. And Fire and Flavor is brine in a bag.
It's all ready to go. And you buy the bags, you put the turkey in, you put the... Now, I haven't tried the product, but I can tell you that brining is great. It's cheap, too. Yeah, and having it all in one easy way to do it seems like a great idea to me. Awesome! Yeah, this is what my husband wants to do this year. So this is a cool tip. This is what I'm trying. And we're not going to have that many people over for Thanksgiving this year. And so it's going to be... It should be easy. We could get a smaller bird. I've decided, man, because I'm cooking, I'm making it easy. This is the menu. Mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, dinner rolls. That's it. Cranberry sauce. What about a veggie? Are we having a salad? Are we having a veggie? What about the green bean casserole? What about the sweet potato pie? You guys are killing me. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie. Somebody bring it. Why don't you tell somebody to bring a dish? So you don't have to do everything. Your mom will make a green bean casserole. Okay, she'll make the green bean casserole. Who else is coming? Gene? Steve and Gene. Gene, bring the dessert. Gene brings a very particular thing that she has to have every year, so she's bringing that. She's not going to bring anything else. Okay. So you can only bring one thing? Yeah, she's bringing oyster stuffing. That stuff is bomb. So good. Have you ever had it? Has anyone ever had it? Oyster stuffing is so good. Have you had it?
What do you want me to do? Throw my mother-in-law into the bus? Dude, it's good. Have you had it? It doesn't taste like what you think. Well, because oysters are a very specific taste. She does it every year. Of course I've had it. You don't like it? It's not my favorite thing. Be glad for the food on your plate. Do you have to enjoy oysters to be able to enjoy this dish? Of course. Okay. It's stuffing with the subtle flavor of oysters. No, it's good. It's just moisture. Seafood delight. It's a seafood delight. Listen, she likes it. She enjoys it. Didn't mean to offend anybody. Hey, listen. I'm offended. I'm offended. It's moist. That's what I was saying. It is. Hey, listen. There's nothing wrong with the preparation. I'm just not a fan of the oyster inside the stuffing. But it is a tradition from my mother-in-law. She really loves it. She's got to have it. Enjoy. So anyway, there you go. Straubs.com. And it makes it real easy for you if you want to brine a turkey. What the fuck? How kind of segue was that? Why not? Lane. Come on, Oyster. Don't ever do that again. Ashley's new nickname is Oyster.
I don't like that. Oyster better than clam. Well, nobody's never called her that. No high five on that one. You don't like oyster? No. Come on, oyster. What's happened? No, that's ridiculous. Come on, oyster. Why would you call me oyster, you idiot? I have to say something. I have to say something about human nature. I have to say something about human nature. Human nature is, it doesn't matter what it is. We don't like it when somebody, like somebody could be like, Your nickname's Crayon. And you're like, no, you hate Crayon. No. Don't call me Crayon. You're so right. I don't know why. The Dumb Chick Challenge, ladies and gentlemen, is where we get two dumb chicks on the show, Ashley and Skye, and then we get a female listener and we ask them questions. They're real easy, though. The questions are real easy. Ridiculously easy. The questions are one. two and three point questions and the first person to five points wins. I can't hear you through your shell. Shut up, I'm stupid. Come on, Rockefeller. You should dumb. Stop. So ones are easy, threes are hard, and the first person to five points wins. Now call and pick either Sky or Ashley. Pick your horse. 5701053. P1 Kelly.
Oh, my gosh. Oh, Kelly. I'm putting Kelly on hold. What just happened? Is she calling us back? I don't get it. I put her on hold. Huh? P1 Bass Assassin? What's up, brother? Not too much. Who would you like? I'm going to go with Sky today. That's a good choice. What up? Hang on the line. P1 Wetback. You get Ashley. All right. Let's go for the Oster. All right. There you go. That is not my name, sir. Hey, if he has the rocks to be Wetback. You can be Oyster. I don't want to be Oyster. You're the Oyster. He didn't stop that name. You're the Oyster. I am not the Oyster. Stop it. Hang on. P1 Wetback. You guys are the worst. I hope that his P1 name doesn't offend anybody. It's his name. It's his name. We didn't name him that. That's right. P1 Kelly? Yeah. What did you have going on when I hit that line? You were very in the middle of stuff. Oh, nothing. Don't worry about it. Uh-oh. I like her already. I do, too. All right, Kelly, you're going to play for yourself. Are you okay with that? Yeah. All right, then. Let's get this puppy started. Last time the listener began, this time Sky starts. You're correct. Wow. Good job. Vocal in. All right, Sky, what do you want? A one, two, or three-point question?
Have a two, please. Oh, no. What? Worked for me last time. Skye's the defending champ. Skye, your two-point question is, Italian for bartender, what term does Starbucks use for the people who pour your morning coffee? Barista. You are correct. Thank you. That was really good job, Skye. Thank you very much, Ashley. Good job, Oyster. What? All right, Oyster. What would you like? My name is Ashley. Would you like a one, a two, or a three-point question? She's calling me Oyster. She's looking at Eddie. Or you're not going to be my base coach. You don't care? Oh, it's going to be like that? No. Are they breaking up? No. What's it going to be? Oyster or base coach? Well, you can't threaten me. Pick one. Oyster. Oh, you son of a... Easy. Rob, you're up. All right. Here we go. All right, Rob's giving her a signal. He's now changing. He's changed it halfway through it. He gave her a one, two, and three point option. I think this face coach is inappropriate. You have an inappropriate face coach. Yeah, I don't know that those hand signals are really appropriate. Okay, Rob, that's... I think he's saying... No, no, you're out. Oyster, what do you want? A one, two, or three point question? Ashley, being me, would like a...
One. A one-point question. Boo. All right, Ashley. Let's get her on the board. That's right. Ashley, in Morse code, what three-letter acronym is used when you are in distress? In Morse code, what three-letter acronym is used when you're in distress? Mad. Oh, no. Does she mean like mothers against drunk drivers? I don't know. That's four letters. I don't know. I thought you were saying what is another word for distressed? That's three letters. Well, why don't you listen to the whole question, Oyster? My name is Ashley! Ashley, that's incorrect. The answer is SOS. Cool. Oh, come on! That's four letters. That's okay. Mad?
Shut up. P1 Kelly. Yeah. You want a shuck? Let's start with a two. A two? You want a two? You got it. Let's see. All right, Kelly. Used to keep them warm, a thin layer of fat under the skin of whales is called what? Blubber? That is correct. Kelly is on the board with two. Sky's got two. We have a tie between Sky and Kelly. Ashley, we're still waiting for you to get on the board. What? All right. Sky, what do you want? A one, two, or three-point question? Eddie seems to be giving you some head signals, some nods. Well, I was going to go for the three, and he knows I'm going to go for the three, and he's shaking his head no. Like, this is a bad move. It's up to you. I don't work for you either. Do what you want. Sky, go with your gut.
See, because I've known the last two point answers. Which means... Well, everybody has. Right, which means the next one I'm not going to know. So I'm going to go for a three. Wow. Wow. Bad move. Wow. I'm telling you. Sky, who beat Mike Tyson on February 11th, 1990 in what may be considered the biggest upset in boxing history? Sky looks dizzy. Whoa, somebody catch her. Sky looks dizzy. Is she looking at this? She just got punched. Oh, man. I don't think she heard a word after Mike Tyson. Yeah, I have no idea, so I will guess Evander Holyfield. That is a good guess. It is a good guess. It's a good guess. It's incorrect. The answer is Buster Douglas. Oh, yeah. Wouldn't have got that. One of your favorites. Oh, who? One of your favorites. That was like your favorite fight of all time? It was? She's got posters of him all over the office. I do? That's right. It's weird. Ashley is now looking at her new first base coach, Boston Rob. You got this figured out. He is giving her some signals. And Ashley, what are you going to do? A one, two, or three-point question? He said, give me two guys. Uh-oh. That's bad. He doesn't know you at all. He said, give me two guys. Your two-point question is? Yeah. An alternative to permanent tattoos, what plant dye, popularized in India, is used for temporary body art? Let me just get one. You want a one-pointer? All right, Kelly. Your one-point question is, who is widely considered to be the mastermind behind 9-11? Are you asking Charlie Sheen or Rosie O'Donnell? Who is widely considered to be the master... Like the person? Yes. What man is... Is it Saddam Hussein? Or bin Laden? Oh, my gosh. I don't know. I need an answer. Bin Laden. That is correct. Wow. She got it. Well, we all reacted when she said Saddam Hussein. She was shamed out of Saddam Hussein.
Skye, what do you want? A one, two, or three-point question? I'm going to try another three, please. Another three. I've got to get one right eventually. Hey, you stop it. Skye, your three-point question is, in a legendary transplant, the 12-day-old baby Faye received what organ from a baboon? A heart? Skye, I get the feeling you weren't quite Oh, no, I knew that. All right. All right. I did the transplant. I was a surgeon. Sorry, Kelly. It didn't work out for you this time. All right. Thanks, guys. That's all right. P1 Bass Assassin. Yeah. Good job, guys. Thankfully, you picked a neurosurgeon as the person to play for you. Specializing in transplants. Eddie, what did Bass Assassin win? We got tickets for the Rock Before Christmas show with Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Zombie. Sick. Yeah. Thank you. Sick.

We'll tell you what's up with that. Did Kanye West's mom die during plastic surgery? But first, we have an email, and the subject is a legitimate question. It says, hey, Mikey and the rest of the crew, love the show. You guys are the best. I'm a devoted P1 who listens online every day from Minnesota from start to finish. I have a real and legitimate question for Sean, but I have a feeling he may lie. And I really want to know the truth. I really want to know, Sean, is your favorite football player
Number 87 for the Detroit Lions. His name is Mike Furry. That's a legitimate question. Sean, before you get upset, I want you to please take into account that this listener really does want to know. Sean, tell us the truth once and for all. Is Mike Furry your favorite football player? How can I answer that? I'll tell you why. That's a yes. It's not a yes. It's not. Excuse me. His favorite player is Steve Panda for the Baltimore Ravens. Eddie, there is no Steve. Left guard. Is there really? It's Steven Panda. Now you guys know who I'm talking about, right? Eddie, there's no Steven. Mike, you're talking to the Oracle. Why would I make that up? Why would I make that up?
Of course, you have Jim Beaver for the Dolphins. Now you're screwing around for sure. Now for sure. I didn't even do anything. This person wrote an email asking a question, and the subject is legitimate questions. Yeah, obviously he's not serious. What? I'd like an answer. Well, he says no. He says Mike Furry is not his favorite player. But that's why the listener said he'll probably lie. No, I didn't say that. I said I wouldn't answer. So that's a yes. It's a yes. It's not a yes. Ladies and gentlemen, Sean likes number 87. Mike Furry. Mike Furry. No. Fine. I guess we'll never get to the truth. Sky, did Kanye West's mother just have plastic surgery and die during surgery? What? That's what it looks like. No. Come on. That's
It's not like a made up thing. No. Well, so Kanye's mom, who's 58 years old, his manager, huge inspiration in his life. He wrote the song Hey Mama for her because she was such an inspiration to him. Single mother raised him, you know, everything. So she died Saturday in L.A. And then this morning there were rumors that she died during cosmetic surgery. And just about an hour ago, Kanye's people did confirm that she died. while undergoing a cosmetic procedure, but they won't comment any further on what the procedure was, whether she died from the anesthesia. Like, they're not really saying anything at this point, but they have confirmed that she did pass away during a cosmetic procedure this weekend in L.A. She was 58 years old. Wow. Yeah, that's very sad. What a trip. Yeah. So, anyway. Kanye's always been very outspoken about his love for his mama, and that's sad. talking about the fact that a couple of us on the show in our lifetime have dedicated a song to someone by calling a radio station and making a dedication. Eddie, what was yours? I called up K-O-M-E and dedicated I Will Remember You by Skid Row. Oh, see, that's cool. Yeah. To my first girlfriend. Yeah, that's a cool one. Awesome! Yeah, real sweet.
Going out to you, babe. You rock my world. A lot of memories, Mike. I'm sure yours is just as cool. Stop doing that. What is it? What? You know it's not. I don't know. I don't know what song it was. Anybody else? Anybody else? Anybody else ever dedicate a song to anybody? No way. I did. What, Skye? See, I can't. I'm trying to think of exactly what song it was. But it was the weekend, because dances were on Fridays, right? Dances were on Fridays? Yeah, for the school. School dances were on Fridays. I believe this was freshman year. So school dances were on the Friday. So that weekend, and me and this dude that I was hot for danced to some Mexican, right? Duh. Had to be.
You don't know that. Did he wear a hoodie and he was Mexican? You don't know that. We definitely know that. We know what high school you went to. Anyway. Well, we know who you were into. Whatever. Mexicans. Stop it. Exclusively. Stop it. That is not true. Were you hot for one white guy in high school? I dated white guys, yes. I thought you said it was all Mexicans you were into. No. I did the flip-flop. I would date the... mexicans and flip i know i'd date like the court the white quarterback guy you know and then i'd go and date some gangbanger and then i'd go back you know the white baseball player and but anyway so yeah so we had danced we had we were grinding to to some hip-hop well that's how the kids put that on the air that's how the kids dance you know yeah no Just to give a little context. Getting your freak on. Just to give some context. Sky lost her virginity at 11. I did not. I did not. No, it was not. It was not. Older than that? I was a lot older. She was 12. Whatever. And a half. So I remember that I called and had them play that song to dedicate to him that next night on Saturday night. What song? Bump and Grind? I'm trying to think. Mama, tell me no. Mama, tell me no.
I don't know. That's the jam. I think she just made those lyrics up. I did not. Oh, I thought she was in vain. Nothing wrong with a little bump and grind. There you go. Is this what you were dedicating? Grinding to? Grinding to when you were eight? Yeah, when you were eight years old. Nine and a half? In the playpen? Give me a little demonstration. I was in high school, you age. That's bump and grind. In the sandbox? I like it. While playing hopscotch. The song that I... Here we go. When I was a junior in high school, I called K-Don. Dedicated Next Time I Fall by Peter Cetera and Amy Grant. Yes! Awesome! Which is a song we don't even have. I'll order it. Don't order it. Please don't. No, I...
Oh, don't order it. Please don't order it. Listeners know what you're saying. Oh, you guys. Who did you dedicate it to? Melanie Kosher. Yeah, you did. That little hussy. Did it work? It worked, dude. She heard it? Oh, I'm telling you, it hooked. Now, did you have to call her and tell her to listen? The hook wasn't in the mouth, dude. She swallowed the hook. She swallowed the hook completely. Like, it wasn't like you just get her on the mouth. Like, hook swallowed and the whole deal. So you had to, did you call her and say, listen at this time or anything like that? Hey, you better turn it on, Kate. No. Who was it, Rob Holloway? Dude, let's go Holloway. Dude, I'm not kidding you. It was Rob Holloway. I know. He was the only guy on that station. It was Rob Holloway. Yeah, dude. Yeah, and he played. Look at you. Next time I follow up, Peter Cetera and Amy Grant. Wow.
I'm telling you. Opposite. At least it wasn't Air Supply or something like that. Sean, you never did a dedication or anything? No. I mean, I called the radio station a lot, but I never dedicated a song to anyone. You either, B-Rob? I'm surprised B-Rob. That surprises me about Rob. I would think Rob would have done that. Never did he. Because he's a dork. I guess. You never did it? Nah, never. Never. Never did, Mike. Too cool for that. Ashley, you never made a dedication. Now, the only time I have ever called into a radio station was with Sylvia Chacon at night at KFRC, the oldie station back in the Bay. What the? And I was nine years old, and I really, really, really wanted to request a song. And I loved the song Buttercup. So I called in over and over. It took me about an hour. Finally, she picked up. I actually talked to Sylvia and requested the song, and she played it like ten minutes later. Wait, that one. Why don't you fill me up? Yeah. Love that song. Grew up with oldies. I was going to say, you listened to the oldies? Yeah, grew up with oldies. That's a great example of a request that she made. Yeah, it wasn't a dedication. It's the only time I've ever called into a registration. I think we've all made requests before, right? Really? I think we've all, at one time or another, we have made a request on the radio. Yeah. But that is not a dedication.
No, that's the only time I've ever done anything. Leave her alone! That's all I got for you, Mike. We don't even have Buttercup. I'm looking for it. We don't even have it. We don't have an oldie stick. Yeah. I'll go ask Sylvia. She works upstairs. That's right. Still? Yeah. Wow. Actually, I wonder if she would remember you. Probably not. I won a dating show on the radio. You what? What? I won a dating contest. What does that mean? Yeah. They were having something on 91X. at night where they had a chick on and she got to pick like three bachelors and i was one of the bachelors i was calling for our roommate lock because he was scared to do it right so i called in and i got through and i was one of the bachelors and i won and then lock went on the date no lock went on the date as if he was you the guy that won yeah oh no did she figure it out uh i think he told her well they're married now with two kids so that's brutal It was bad. Wow. I remember that. What was the questions? Like, what was some of the stuff? It was like a dating game, you know, type thing. Like, what would you do if I was a candy bar or something? And I was just goofy with it because I didn't really care. And I worked for another radio station, so I thought I was going to get in trouble. So I didn't even use my real name. Really? Wow. Do you remember what name he used? No. Mikey, I think. Oh, yeah.
My wife and I are already starting to have the discussion about Christmas lights. I don't want to do it. What do you mean? You don't want to put them up? Well, I just don't want to do it. Me put them up. Give me a break. You can do it. What am I, Mr. Sky? Come on, you can do it. No, I can't do that kind of stuff. No, we got, and we even had the thing put up on the house where you can plug them in up there, the holiday light package. Oh, nice. But you gotta like, I mean, if we're gonna do it, we gotta have somebody hang them. No, you could do it. Dude. You could do it. Please, give me a break. Remember the air filter? Oh, I did the air filter. You could do it. But he didn't do the air filter on an extension ladder over cement. Very true. So what? Maybe I could hire Mr. Sky. Oh. Sky, when do you guys put your... I don't... It's kind of weird you bring this up because there was a discussion last night regarding this. And my husband filled me in on something that I like to refer to as an inconvenient truth. The fact that he doesn't think we should do holiday lights until we get solar power on our home because it's just a waste of electricity. And what can I say? He's 100% right.
But I'm a little girl inside. Like every year the holiday lights are a big thing to me. I'm a little girl. I have this little like snowman dude who lights up and I stick him in the lawn. Yeah, but Skye. I call him Frosty. I'm like, hey, Frosty. Tough love it is. Tough love. Question. Breaks my heart. Question. You're going green. I am. How much money would actually be spent? It's not the money, Mike. What is it? It's the Watts. The energy. We're wasting watts. Yeah, but how many watts are you actually wasting? We're against wasting watts. Mike, if every other house on your block decided to not use holiday lights, you could power an entire country for five years. That's not a true statistic. But it could be close. Whatever. You never know. You never know. So dumb. Wait a second. We don't know. But you guys have done the Christmas lights before. For years. Mm-hmm. So how come you didn't ask him? Well, how come you never had a problem with it before? I mean, it doesn't matter because he's right. But you... I mean, why does it matter? Okay, then let me ask you. Why was it okay the other years? Because I didn't think of it. Oh, so it said he pointed it out. Yeah. The environment's the new hot rage, literally.
Even Al Gore would have Christmas lights. He probably does. Are you kidding me? We've got a whole village going on. He put in solar, or he was going to be putting in solar. So once we put in solar, we can go back to holiday lights. But until then, our house will be dark. No tree then? No tree. Don't you let him get away with it. If he says he wants to do a tree, don't let him get away with it. Well, we already have a tree, which we purchased. It's not a real tree because, you know, we stopped cutting down the tree years ago because that's not cool either. It's mean to the tree. But as far as plugging in the lights, that's true. That's the same deal. All those decorations, you're done. Well, not the decorations, just anything that takes a box. It's electric, yeah. Wow. I do not know. It's going to be one sad treat. I don't know about this. It's going to be a dark holiday. It's going to be a dark holiday. A dark holiday. Oh, boy. The sky house. That is pathetic. Happy holidays. Well, I mean. Light the menorah. When are you getting solar panels?
Well, it's tough. We're looking into it. Because solar, from what I have found, is very expensive. But I found a company. This is a new thing that you can rent solar panels. Oh, no. Oh, no. Hey, Sean, don't you laugh. Ed Begley Jr. taught me all about this. It's a great show. Anybody watch Living With Ed on HGTV? Of course. It's a great show. What channel is that? Anyway. Sky. So you can rent solar panels now, which is really cool. You can rent solar panels? Yeah. This is pathetic. I have to look more into it, but basically they come out, they cover all the cost of purchasing the panels, installing the panels. Is this what we've come to? You lock in your rate. So basically whatever you're paying right now for electricity, you can lock that rate in for 25 years. So even in 25 years from now, if your electric bill has quadrupled, mine's going to be the same as it is today. Plus, all the extra energy is going back to the grid. It's all green energy. You know, I can start putting up holiday lights again. Just put Christmas lights. That's okay. Just put your lights up, will ya? So, I don't know. So, no holiday lights this year at my house. Come on. It's garbage! Mikey Show, hello. Hello, dear Rob. T1 Jason, I got a solution to this guy's Christmas decorations.
It's Mikey. You're on the air. What's your solution? Hey, Mikey. Hey, Skye. You can use... I grew up in New Mexico, and there's a scene called Luminarios. They're basically a paper bag with sand at the bottom to hold them down. You put a candle in it, and you light the candle, and that's how Yeah, I've seen those. Like, neighborhoods that do that, that's really pretty. But it is dangerous. Yeah, I've seen that before. Yeah, I've seen that before. Skye, why don't you plug the lights in in TJ and just drag the extension cord across? We're using up their power. It doesn't matter. It's about the environment. It's not about countries. The world. It's about saving the world, Mike. Mike, this is a global issue. Yes. No. It affects Mexicans as much as it affects us. It's not United States warning. It's global warning. That's right. Warwarming. Warwarming, I mean. I say it is a global warning. It should be. It's a warning to all of you. It should be.
Not me. I still drive a gas guzzle. I do not. I do not drive a gas guzzle. I do not drive a gas guzzle. This is the Mikey Show. Today we salute you, Mr. T-shirt launcher inventor. Now more of the Mikey Show featuring Mikey. The show members refer to me as Memento because I can't remember anything. Eddie. I feel like I'm a responsible guy. Sky. I am. I'm a social eater. Sean. I like it when the Indian dude at the convenience store calls me boss. Boston Rob. I have a claim to be a genius. And Ashley. I can't even imagine my life without water. 105.3. Welcome back to the show. It's the Mikey Show at 819. The San Diego Police Department refused to help Hulk Hogan last night at Qualcomm when he claimed he was being mobbed by fans. El Cajon's Jimmy Johnson all but wraps up the chase title with his fourth straight win. Peace.
Hey Sean, when you can, give me some of that At The Music, At The Movie music. You always hear Roger Ebert's really unenthusiastic voice come on. Yes. Oh, welcome to At The Movies. This week we saw a movie that we think will change a lot of people's opinions of Angelina Jolie. Like he never has any enthusiasm whatsoever. He would this week. Ashley is going to review a movie for us. Why? Because Ashley is a bit of an airhead. Nodding to politics is more accurate. Thank you, Mike. And so we sent her to see this new movie with Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep called Lions for Lambs. Oh, man. Cut 36. This is my honest effort to keep the press better informed and to change the subject from the past to the future. Acknowledge mistakes...
and talk openly about ways of fixing them. How much time do we have together? I have till 11. The whole hour? You all must be panicked. Oh no, we're determined. Wow. Rich and compelling. That sounds like a great action film. Riveted. So Ashley, who was your date? I went with myself. You went by yourself? Yeah, I really enjoyed my company. I'm a really fun person to hang out with. You had a good conversation? I had a good time. I thought you were going with a girlfriend of yours. Yeah, she couldn't go. Okay. So you had to go by yourself. I didn't have to. I chose to. Okay. Because, yeah, there was a few, you know, a couple of our male listeners.
had really stepped up to the plate, and they said that they would have taken a bullet. They had, yeah, which was nice of them. They wanted to go with you. Right. But you went alone. Yeah, I did. It's the first time I've ever gone by myself to a movie, and I think I might never go back to bringing anyone. Wow. Where did you go? Which theater? I really had a good time with myself. What? Which theater? Claremont. It's Pacific Town Square Theater. And did you go at night, in the day? No, I went to a matinee. You went to a matinee? On Sunday. Nice. Wow. You didn't see Sky there? No, I did not. It was me and I think maybe like a posse of senior citizens that like did like a field trip day or something from their senior citizen home. Right. Like because it was me and then I was surrounded by like all these old people that were best friends and like being really obnoxious and talking and like throwing things at each other. Wait. And I was like. Sounds like 20 year olds. Yeah. And I was like the one who was like trying to tell these old farts to quiet down so I could hear the stupid movie. Aw. That's cool. So. Shut up. If anybody had walked in there and they would have saw this very attractive blonde sitting by herself watching Lions for Lambs, they would have thought, this must be a med student. Yeah, she's a genius. Scholar. Very brainy girl sitting here watching this movie. Right. So, Ashley, what is the movie about? Okay, well, it's called Lions for, or from Lambs, Lions for Lambs. Lions for Lambs. I've said that five times in loud.
And it's starring Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and Tom Cruise. So basically, like, there's three plot lines going on. It's really, it's only an hour and 28 minutes long, but it felt like three. Like, there was, the acting was terrible. Really? These are supposed to be heavyweights. Those are the best actors on the planet. Awful, awful, awful. You guys, I have to admit. This is pathetic. Hearing that clip, like, I thought that Meryl Streep, who's one of the best actresses ever, sounded like she was auditioning. It's garbage. And you know what? She, I really like Meryl Streep. She did her best with the script. The script was so lame. Like, there was no plot characters, like, there was no plot with characters at all. Like, there's three. basic scenes going on. Meryl Streep, who was the journalist, Tom Cruise, who was the senator, in his office. That was the only scene Tom was in the entire movie. What? In his office. With a conversation with Meryl Streep. And that's it. You're kidding me. I thought that he was like a big star in this movie and...
Is this like a cameo? No, because they keep going back to this one scene between the two of them. Okay. And all they're doing is, like, he's letting her in on the big secret that they're going to basically go in and, like, fight more. Like, hide secret troops in certain areas of, like, I think it was Afghanistan. I was getting really confused because they were talking about Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, and the differences between the three. which was hard for me to follow. She's a journalist. He's a senator. Afghanistan. Okay. So he was like letting them in, letting Meryl Streep in on the secret plan that they were going to go and attack Afghanistan before Afghanistan attacked us over there. Okay. So like go over to that. to that situation which is like the only part of the movie that I liked and then they would only cut to it for like a minute and then they'd go back to the boring conversation. So what's the boring stuff? Like what's the rest of the movie? The entire thing is like Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise talking about what went wrong with 9-11 and what...
is going like wrong with the media and what's going wrong with the troops and what's going wrong with society and why this war is happening and all they were doing was just like exchanging stats like well you know that 50% of this whatever whatever well you know that just totally like breaking down the statistics and all the facts of both sides that's news to me Now, what about the Robert Redford character? Isn't he a professor? Aren't there some students that are supposed to be involved? Yeah. So, okay, Robert Redford, this is the third scene. It's Robert Redford and his troubled, like, Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting student that's like... Matt Damon! Matt Damon! Matt Damon! And he, like, doesn't care about anything, but he's really intelligent, and Robert Redford is like, I'm your professor, and I'm trying to, like, you know, help you to get into my class. And he brought up the example of the two people that used to be in his class, which were the two people that were now on that plane to go to the hidden area in Afghanistan and attack. I'm following. I'm following. I'm following it. I'm glad you are. I have no idea what she's talking about. I get it. So the plan that Tom Cruise is telling Meryl Streep about is being executed by former students of Robert Redford. Yes. Boring.
But this is what's really realistic about it. So they're in this huge helicopter plane, and they've got probably 15 guys. They're going to go, and they're going to camp out in this secret Afghanistan place to bomb the Afghanis, right? So they're doing that, and they get totally bombed by the Afghanis before they get to the spot. So these two students fall out of the plane. Whoa. And survive. By the way. Flying really low. Yeah. Totally survive. Or over a big old trampoline or something. And get this. They're on the ground. They were like 10 feet apart. It was crazy. The coincidence. That's crazy. Wow. So then like, so the rest of the movie goes back and forth to Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise in his office discussing like. This new plan, is it good? Is it bad to stay in Iraq and to stay in Afghanistan and to fight the war or not? And how has media made it worse or better? I will never see that. I'll never see it. Just disgusting. I'll never rent it. I'll never see it. Jets to the two guys on the ground, like basically their legs are broken and they're like about to get killed and then the people are trying to get them out because they fell out of the plane and then it goes to freaking Robert Redford and the teacher. How did they fall out of the plane? Because had the helicopter plane door open, I don't know why.
Helicopter plane. It was like this huge... It's a helicopter with giant wings on it. It was this huge military battle. It's a movie, Eddie. I don't know what's going on. I get the feeling, though, she got it. I get the feeling she got the whole movie. It sounds like you got it. There was no part of it that you didn't get. Yeah, I understood the basic concept, but what was hard for me to follow was... the really big words like there were so many big words and like code language for a lot of this stuff that revolves around politics which is hard for me but it was really depressing because it was like basically just letting us know like how crappy it really is in terms of, like, everything going on. Were you so happy when it was over? Oh, my God. Like, you don't even know. What about the senior citizens? Did they seem to enjoy it? It's just, like, so drowned out. Oh, and then, yeah, we're walking out, and I'm hearing these senior citizens be like, they are so true what they were saying in that movie. Isn't that just executed brilliantly? And I'm just like, ugh. The Mikey Show continues. Thank you for being big enough to laugh at yourself this morning.

There is a head-on collision on Gopher Canyon Road here, a few miles west of the 15 freeway, right around Margill Lane. The Dumb Chick Challenge, ladies and gentlemen, is where we get two dumb chicks on the show, Ashley and Sky, and then we get a female listener, and we ask them questions. They're real easy, though. The questions are real easy. Ridiculously easy. Sky, who beat Mike Tyson on February 11, 1990, in what may be considered the biggest upset in boxing history? Sky looks dizzy. Whoa.
Somebody catch her. This guy looks dizzy. She's looking at this. He just got punched. Oh, man. I don't think she heard a word after Mike Tyson. Yeah, I have no idea, so I will guess Evander Holyfield. That is a good guess. It is a good guess. It's a good guess. It's incorrect. The answer is Buster Douglas. One of your favorites. You said that was your favorite fight of all time? It was. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. You're ruining it. It's 834. Kanye West's mom died over the weekend. She was 58 years old. Well, the crazy college football season continues. The number one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes lost over the weekend. LSU now ranked number one by the BCS. We're going to get to some stuff that Rob told us off the air that blew us away. We'll get to that in just a second.
Skye, I think that we should get the things that you and I will argue about out of the way. Oh, gosh. Just so they're out there and we get it over with. We're going to be friends today, Mike. I agree. We can disagree and still be friends. I think that we can agree to disagree. All right. Let's do that. Let's do that then. And don't think I forgot about ham soda. Yes. We'll get to that later too. How dare you. But Skye and I were discussing off the air this morning how Barack Obama was on. television this weekend saying he would like to raise everybody's taxes for social security not everybody's he wants to lift the ceiling he wants to lift the ceiling to 105 000 or what did he say uh basically right now um only your first 97 000 you make is taxed next year that figure goes up to 102 000 so if you make over that you're only taxed for that first chunk And Barack Obama basically wants to lift it so the ceiling is higher. So rich people are still paying the same tax percentage as everybody else. They're just paying it on more of their income than currently. All I know is I don't like to hear from politicians, I want to raise your taxes. It doesn't matter what the deal is about. Well, what do you want to do? Do you just want Social Security to dry up and then we'd be screwed? I'll tell you what. There's a guy named Mike Huckabee.
He's the governor of Arkansas. Now, I haven't really read exactly how he plans on doing this. I'll be honest about it. But he wants to get rid of income tax. He wants to get rid of us paying any income tax. He says he has a way to make it work. He says we don't pay these taxes to the government. But you don't have any details. It was very... No, I don't. Because I would love to know. I know, I know. I know. I'll Google it in the next commercial. Well, I know there are some that would like to shift income tax to sales tax. So instead of paying 8.5% or whatever, it would be more like 16%, 17% sales tax. It just jogged my memory. He wants to charge an awful lot of money to people that buy fancy cars and stuff like that. And as a person that likes fancy cars, I think it's a fair trade-off. Can you imagine? Sky, for you, it'd be perfect. Yeah, so like a real high tax on luxury type goods. Exactly. That's exactly it. That sounds interesting. And there's enough Americans that buy the stuff. Yeah. Make up for all the taxes everybody pays? Apparently, he says... That doesn't add up. Huckabee says that this is in place right now, and that's what I can't remember where he said they do it. But they do it somewhere, and it works really well. But...
I'll tell you what. Can you imagine getting your paycheck and everything? Not being cutting half? Yeah. Can you imagine getting it? No, I can't imagine that. That would be awesome. Yeah, it'd be really cool. But anyway, Sky, we got through that unscathed. We did good. We're friends. Look at us. We did very well. But there was one other one on my list. There was one that I thought might give us trouble. Why are you trying to fight with Scott? Well, I want to get him out of the way because I knew I was going to hit on him, but I want to get him out of the way. I sensed it. Oh, I remember it. And this is what I sensed. I may be wrong, though. We may agree on it. But I sensed that we may have a difference of opinion in the Hulk Hogan deal. But maybe we don't. Hulk Hogan was at the Charger game, and he's upset because the San Diego Police Department
Would not aid him when he was being, in his words, mobbed by fans. Which I think is moronic, personally. Like, dude, you're in a public place. Unless these people are, like, hurting you, you're going to be noticed. But I don't know why. I sensed you felt differently. Okay, so it's tough to say because... I've been mobbed and it's not... Shut up. Shut up. Because I get 100% what the police department is saying. Their job isn't for private security. That's not what their paycheck is for. That's not why they're out there at Qualcomm. But at the same time, if somebody felt their safety was being threatened... So that's why it's hard because we don't know when Hulk Hogan says he was mobbed by people. He probably was. Well, probably was what? Mobbed. Yeah, I'm sure he was. So would it have been tough for the SDPD to just pull him in a private room and say, hey, you getting out of this room, you call your own people, you deal with it. Let me just say this. We took care of you. Let me just say this. Last night, my dad and I were in line.
waiting to go into the stadium and we got there kind of late so it was a long line because a lot of people showed up late and there were guys cutting into line and i even saw a friend of mine as i was walking by i saw chef tom standing in line and i'm not asking if i can me and my dad can stand with chef tom and it was a long line to the back so we go and we are standing in line and it took a while to get in there and there's guys cutting in well there's guys around me drunk And they were that close to calling these guys out and words being exchanged and maybe a fight, okay? Right. And all I can tell you is that last night, as we were standing there in line, we must have had 50 guys go by, stumbling by, before the game, stumbling by, what the... Like, it's scary. Yeah. I'm standing there with my pops, and it's freaky, man. Like, these people were wasted. And I was thinking...
There's going to be another one of those guys that they're going to bump into each other, whatever. So all I know is that I really want cops keeping a close eye on the, you know, however many thousand drunkies. And I, I mean, there was a ton. Instead of aiding Hulk Hogan from his fans, I think Hulk will be okay. But who says that those people mobbing Hulk weren't the drunkies? Well, maybe they were, but unless he's like getting hurt or he's in. But he can't put his hands on anybody. I mean, this dude's a celebrity. He puts a finger on somebody. He's, you know, straight lawsuit city. I guess I'm trying to figure out, like, are people, like, hurting him? See, that's the tough part. Because we weren't there. It could have been three people asking for an autograph. Or it could have been, you know, a hundred people, like, surrounding him and he can't move. We don't know. It sounds to me like he's the type of person that doesn't like it when he's crowded in. And it sounds like he was crowded in. Well, dude, you're Hulk Hogan. You're going to be noticed. People, you know.
People are going to notice you. They're going to want it. I mean, the SDPD now has to become personal security for a gigantic man. I mean, I guess my, in a perfect world, Hulk should know these things and he should bring his own security if he wants to be protected. He could have had Jimmy Superfly Snooker, the Junkyard Dog, Rowdy Roddy Piper, George the Animal Steel. They're all available, right? I mean, that would have been great. Well, Junkyard Dog's dead. But Jake the Snake Roberts, Magnificent Morocco. I don't think Jake the Snake would be good at it. He's fine now. Greg the Hammer, Valentine, Tito Santana, Nikolai Volkov, the Irish Sheik, Andre the Giant, Dead. I can go on. These should have been his guys that were protecting him. Mr. Wonderful, Paul Orndorff. Mr. Wonderful. One of the greats. Yeah, you're correct. You know, it was a time of my life. Cowboy Bob Horton. We do. We get it. You know wrestling. Where's Mr. T? His partner. Exactly. Hello, WrestleMania 1. Oh, my gosh. Eddie, do you, seriously, do you think he should just shut up, or do you think that he has a point? You know, again, it's tough because I wasn't there, but if...
First of all, he's a dummy for showing up to the game without any kind of security. He is Hulk Hogan. You're at a football game. Football wrestling fans, they're pretty similar. He probably had a ton of fans there. So he should have had his own personal security with him, if that's a concern. And if he was getting mobbed, and police are there for crowd control, too. So I can kind of see it. I don't like the fact that he asked for... This is weird. Can I get some help here? Brother. Brother. Come on. I'm a superstar here. Where's Randy Macho Man Savage? When you need him. Enough. Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase. Eddie. We get it. Enough. We get it. Can we talk for a second about how Boston Rob mentioned to us off the air that he went wine tasting this weekend? What is that? You know what made me so mad? Let me tell you what made me so mad. Everybody was in the studio during the commercial break and I go, any of you guys do anything cool or interesting? And nobody really had anything crazy go on this weekend. And we were done.
And Rob had said, no. I go, are you sure? And I'm like questioning him, no. He said, no, no, no. Yeah, you almost sensed it. Like, Rob, are you sure you didn't do anything? And he goes, I went wine tasting with my girlfriend. And we all just went, huh? What? Why is that out of the ordinary? Because you have Boston tattooed on your neck. You're Boston Rob, dude. So I can't be a wine connoisseur? No. No. Exactly. You drink wine from the box. That's the best kind. Oh, no. Boy, Martha's Vineyard sure had an effect on you, huh? You're a little tootie-fruity now, huh? He is a gay man. Wine tasting. Where'd you go? Temecula? Yeah. Oh, my God. Are you kidding me? No way. That's crazy. You really went to Temecula? Yeah. Listening to your Michael Bolton CDs up there. How am I supposed to? It's not what I expected, though. I figured I'd go through the vineyard, at least see some grapes or something, see the people that step on them and all that stuff. But it's just like, you just go there and they give you this baby sip of... That's the perfect size for you. Whatever, Sean. Great point, Sean. For him, it's like a goblet. Great point, Sean. He uses his two little hands. A mini-mini.
I think this was the music they had in the background. It was your idea to go, right? There was like a wedding going on up there. Hey, honey. It was out of control. You know what we should do? He's reading the paper with his glasses on his nose. Carrying a wooden pipe. Yes. You know, dear, I was thinking about this weekend. The Temecula wine tasting scene. What do you think? This one has a hint of strawberry and oak. Yes. This one has a woodsy finish, darling. What do you think? This one has notes of tannin and bars. Are you getting that? Yeah. My imitation of Boston Rob this weekend. Yes. Yes, wonderful, wonderful. Let that breathe a little bit, will you please? Let that breathe. Yes. Very puns for me. I prefer it decanted. Yes. Decant this, please. That is unbelievable. I'm moving on up. You went wine tasty. Did you purchase any of the wines that you sampled?
I ain't rich. Oh, my God. Will you? I made sure to try all the ones that were the most expensive. Oh, I'm sure you did. See what those taste like. Did you spit it out or did you drink it? Spit it out? I'm not going to waste good wine. Right. Are you crazy? What do you know good wine is bad wine? I was doing doubles, too. You give them the ticket and I was like, give me a double of this. Straight up. Okay, I got questions. Oh, dude. I got like a million questions. What did you wear? Oh. Great question. I love it. Oh, no. You know my jeans that have all the tears in them? But they're the cool jeans, like expensive ones. The expensive jeans with the prefabricated tears in them? Yeah, they're like $200 jeans and they're all knotted up. And then a black t-shirt. Okay. What kind of shoes? The ones I got on now. Let me see. Oh, no. The good for wine tasting. Tennis shoes. Big giant tennis shoes. No, because honestly, I thought I was going to be walking through vineyards and stuff. I sing it. When did this come up? My girl's friend planned it like three weeks ago. This was a double date? There was like 20 of us. We took a limo up there. There was 20 of you. A limo? What? I did nothing this weekend, Mike. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
I say, did you guys do anything this weekend? He's in a limo with 20 people going to Temecula to wine taste. No, nothing. I didn't do anything. Nothing out of the ordinary. You son of a bitch. You wonder why this guy doesn't talk. He has fountains of stuff coming out and he just never shares with us. He was in a limo with 20 people. That's crazy. Going wine tasting and wine country. What day? Saturday. What time? Like 1 we got up there? 1.30? Now, you've got to understand. It was a good afternoon. Boston Rob's girlfriend is a very respectable woman. She's got a professional job. She looks very professional. I'll say. She's gorgeous. Is that a bad thing, right, Rob? No, not at all. Thank you. I appreciate the compliment. You're very welcome. So these are, I'm assuming, her buddies. No. Who are they? It was her friend's friends. It was her friend's friend. And it was more of an excuse to get drunk on Saturday than anything. It wasn't like a professional thing. Like, not like you're thinking. Okay. So this was her buddy... This was like a party bus up there. I'm drunk. I was the only one, like, not getting wasted and kind of just like, oh, okay. So they were getting wasted on the way up there? Oh, yeah. Plasted. Like, on what? Wine? Like, champagne, wine, beers. How old are people are we talking here? All my age.
Like in their 20s. Yeah, mid-20s. So a bunch of 20, 20-year-olds, you know, 20-somethings, go into the wine tasting place and just start downing wine. Wow. Yeah. Nothing happened. Holy Toledo. How was the limo ride back? I wanted to die. I'm sure. I wanted to disappear. There's people, like, jumping, like... dropping the wine glasses because you can keep them after you leave, you know? So they were dropping them in the limo, like jumping, kind of like crowd surfing across the limo, and I was just so uncomfortable. What time did you leave? Midnight. Four? You left at four? Mm-hmm. And you got there? You guys having a killer time? About 1.15, 1.30. Left at four. We went to two vineyards. Oh. Which it was kind of cool, but they don't let you explore nothing. Like a scene where all the grapes are. I want to go back there and check it out. I've watched Sideways. Yeah. That's how I know how to sample it. I'm drunk. This really should be decanted. Let that. Oh, man. It's got to be a little bit. You sound like a whining little kid. This is The Mikey Show. On behalf of Americans for Tame Television, I urge you once again.
Not to watch Fox Monday. Why? Because it is filled with twists that will leave you breathless and possibly winded. First, on an all-new prison break. Okay. After I had first signed up for AIS about six months ago, I called back with the insurance company that I originally had to see if I can get a better deal now that I had a quote from AIS. And I talked to them and they basically told me no. And about two months later, I got the gift card in the mail. And so I called them up to see why they had sent me a gift card.
And they said it was from somebody I referred, and they told me the name of the person. I didn't recognize the name at all. They said her name was Amy, and he's like, I don't know an Amy. And finally, she mentioned off the cuff that she just happened to work for the insurance company that I had called for before. So what had happened was it was the lady that I had called to get a better quote from called into AIS to get a new quote. So the lady who works for your old insurance company heard that you got a better deal with AIS, and she then switched over to AIS? Oh, my God. So anyway, dude, thank you for telling us the story. I appreciate it, man. Nice. I appreciate you. Thank you, bro. AIS is number, 1-800-777-4-AIS. And now, a love letter to the state of California from GEICO. Dear California, how do we love you? My son Joey and I were out at the dunes in Glamis when we spotted this family bottomed out on a sand dune in their Chevy Silverado. My Nissan Titan had higher clearance than the Chevy, so I just hooked up some towing cables and I pulled him right off of that dune. I was proud of my Titan's V8, and Joey was proud of his old man. I love it when black people make fun of white people. Boston Rob. I'm a go-getter.
This guy sounds like that dude, Jack, what's his name? Johnson? Jack Johnson. Is that who you're thinking? I think so. Oh. I don't know. He sounds like somebody, though. Welcome back. It's a Mikey show. It's 8.59. Jerry Seinfeld's animated comedy B-movie was number one this weekend, making $26 million. Darren Sproles returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns, thank God, as the Chargers beat the Colts 23-21. Yeah, Jack Johnson. He's got an acoustic guitar kind of sound. That's pretty good. Welcome back. Boston Rob is a wine connoisseur. Just want to let everybody know.
Mikey, I was wondering if anyone on the show has ever made a mixtape for somebody. I heard you guys talking about dedications. Love the show. Signed, P1 Joe. Yes. I have. I talked on it. Me too. You talked on it? You talked on yours too? Yeah, I didn't talk like up the records, but I talked at the end. And what is this talking about? I talked to the girl. Yeah. Just like saying your feelings? Uh. Making her laugh, being funny, and doing, you know. Don't bits. Don't bits. Well. Wow. I didn't do bits. I never got it. I didn't do bits. I did full on bits, you know. You did produce bits, Shoddy? Yeah, you stripped them out, you know. Romantic sound effects, Reddy, and music pads. Yeah, you know. I don't know about your guys' chicks, but the chick I did it for loved it. Oh, yeah. It was money. Oh, yeah. Sky, is it weird? Getting a mixtape? No. We're telling you that we did. Well, I just, you know, because I got mixtapes, but never with the speaking. So I never even knew that was a thing. Well, you didn't know disc jockeys. I guess, I guess not. Did you like the mixtapes? What is it? It's just a bunch of songs that are special for the girl? Yeah, well. I did that for Rebecca. Yeah, the mixtapes I got were always after, you know, the breakup. So I didn't really. I'll be honest. I don't think that Rebecca enjoyed the mixtapes that I gave her at all.
In fact, I think that they got Nary a listen. And the only reason I say that is because she never mentioned them. Wait, your wife Rebecca? My wife Rebecca. When we were dating, I would give her like a, well, it wasn't cassettes anymore. It was a CD, but I put like some songs together that I thought would be very meaningful and I'd never hear of them. My wife loved hers. She still listens to it. Oh, that's right. You did that. For Valentine's Day, before we got married, I put on a list of songs and I said, these are possible songs we can play at our wedding. And she just freaked out. Yeah, the reason that I remembered this is because we consolidated all of our CDs. And so I was looking for a CD the other day, and I found a CD that I gave her probably six years ago when we were dating. And you made it. I made it. What was on it? I don't know. I didn't play it. It wasn't songs that like... Or special between you two? I'll bring it in. Because I don't know what's on it. Why don't we ask her? Call her up. How many did you make her over the course of... I have no idea. I didn't remember making that one. Oh. And the reason I didn't remember it is because she didn't bring it up. Like, I gave it to her and I never heard boo. Boo! It's sad. That's really sad, man. I almost cried. I don't know. We'll ask her. I don't think she did.
Maybe she'll know what's on there. I have no idea. What were on your mixtapes, Eddie? Do you remember? Like the ones I made before? Just songs that had meaning. Songs that had meaning between me and whoever I made it for. We got my wife. Hi, honey. Hi. Do you remember that mixtape that I made you? You made me a few, actually, over the years. You could be very honest. What did you think of them? Well, some of them that you made me, I really liked because they were songs, you know, that I liked. And I think you made them, you know, you wanted to make a group of songs that I liked. And so those ones were great. But what you would do a lot, too, is you would make mixed CDs of songs that you really liked that you wanted me to like.
Like what? One in particular I remember there was a bunch of Vertical Horizons songs. No, no, no. I gave her the Vertical Horizons CD. It's garbage. Oh, was that it? Yeah. She listened to it so much. Well, you know, when he's really passionate about a particular artist or group or song. Like Vertical Horizons. Like Vertical Horizon. What did they play anyways? So underrated. Wait a minute. Let me bring... Oh, no. I put some songs up for you. Dude, I'm not kidding you. Vertical Horizon is underrated. They're good. Really? Hmm, let's see. But it's very... When he feels that way about somebody... We don't have anything good up here by Vertical Horizon. It's really important for him to have other people like it. And I have the one hit. Yeah, I know what you're talking about, Rebecca. Yeah, the hit is... I don't even like it. Yeah, that's funny. Oh, I love this song. It's a great hit. Talk it up, Mike. New one from Vertical Horizon on D94. Underrated band. Rob, I swear to you, dude. I know you're tasting me. If I give you this CD, you will love it. You will love it. Only if you talk on the mixtape. I do really like it.
see his face, Rebecca. Well, I know, and he wanted so bad for me to like it, and I just... She didn't give it a chance. She didn't give it a chance. She didn't give it a chance. But I remember one you made for me... Turn your wife off! Trying to let people experience it. Goodness sake. Just like you did to your wife. Exactly. Honey, go ahead. The other one, what? I remember one you made for me, and it had, like, um, Kenny Rogers' lady on it. I love that song. It doesn't. I think I hear Jake in the background. You better get going. I didn't hear anything. Yo, Chris. All right, well. It's good. Well, this went well. Thank you, honey. Love you. I'm going to go find that mixtape today and find out what was on there. Oh, I want to know so bad. You guys are so wrong about Vertical Horizon. I like them. They're real good. Yeah, man. Maybe I just got to hear a deeper podcast.
I got a real sad one. You guys like the real sad ones? Yeah. Let me play you one that'll make you want to rip your face off. If you're ever breaking up with somebody, this song will make you commit suicide. You know this song, right, Sky? You hear the emotionally devastating words, you'll go, oh yeah, I know. You know what, Sky? You don't like this band? I don't think you would be all in on these guys. I mean, they're okay. Oh, no, no, no. They're much better than okay. They're much better. I mean, they're not bad. They're not bad. It's one of the only CDs I can hear a million times. I break it out regularly, and every single song is great. Not good. Oh, wow. I've met these guys. You met Vertical Horizon? Uh-oh. Did you really? Of course. When? More than the start.
Set. Oh, dude. Our set. That's what it was called. No, it was not. You're on the set. But it's a radio. Wow. I don't get it. So you were actually on the set? I was on the set. Hard set. Wow. Yeah. What happens, like, off set, or on the side of the set? Oh, man, I could write a book. Me, Jeff and Jer, Jagger and Christy. Wow. The times we had. That sounds crazy. They were all there at once? Oh, yeah, man. Wow. Dude, we had the lineup, bro. So you had the... The Jeff and Jer... Feels like an all-star. Yeah, buddy. You got the Jeff and Jer Showgram. The Jeff and Jer Showgram. They kicked off the star set. Right. Followed by Anita and myself. Right. Anita Rush. And what was your name on air, Dan? Oh, wait. Hold on. Anita Rush and who? What'd you call yourself? And we had Jagger and Christy. Eddie? Eddie, what'd you call yourself on the air? I didn't call myself anything. What did other people call you? What did you go by on the air? Eddie. Your call sign was Eddie? They called me Puff Eddie, and you all know about me.
I didn't like it. I'm a man. I didn't like it. It is gay. Then we had the Jagger and Christy with Chachi. And then we had the new guy. The new guy. He was the new guy for eight years. It was great, man. We were like the all-star team. Hi, Star. Give me my money. You know it. Puff Eddie. You got to answer your phone like that. $10,000 or something. And let's ride a roller coaster. And we're on the set. And get sued. Do stuff. And chicks. Chicks, chicks. That's what the station was all about. Puff Eddie rolled them. What did you do? The 80s stuff, right? Yeah. Yeah, we did the 80s at noon. Whatever. You guys all suck. That is true. That is true. That is true. You sound very nice. That is not very nice at all. No way. Let's see here. This is Joni Lauer. Does that name ring a bell? You may know her better as Chyna. You know Chyna? Oh, that dude. Professional wrestler Chyna. Yeah. Cut six. Why are we here today, Chyna? What's going on? We are here today because I got my identity back. I won my name.
in court from Joan Marie Lauer legally to China, and that's with a why. Why was this an issue? This was an issue because out of spite, I believe, Vince McMahon has made my life a living hell for the last eight years. And this paper right here is a fight for any wrestler, for any person, for any entity that Vince McMahon has tried to hurt. For all the people who aren't here anymore, for all the lives that I think that he's basically destroyed because there's no reason for him to put pressure to hurt people's lives except out of spite because he's an egomaniac and he's a jerk. Well, I guess what she's talking about is he said she can't use the name China. Well, first of all, this is the owner of the WWE.
who created that character for her and owns the rights to that character and that name. So if she no longer is an employee of the WWE, guess what? Sorry you don't get to bring that with you. No kidding. I'm sure she probably signed some sort of contract to that effect. You would think that would be standard protocol. We have. If we leave here and they say you can't call it the Mikey Show anymore, we have to call it the Mikey Showgram. We got to call it something, but we can't call it the Mikey Show. Nice ring. Or if Eddie leaves, he can't go by Eddie anymore. He wanted to use Puff Eddie here. They wouldn't let him use it. They wouldn't let me have it. Wow. That's so fun. They own the rights to Puff Eddie. I was going to go by P. Eddie and it didn't have that ring. So I'm going with Sean John. What is she? Sean John. What is she whining about? It's not her name. The whole character was created by Vince. So it's like, no, you can't have that. Everybody's talking about this writer's strike on TV and all your favorite shows and blah, blah, blah. And what's going to be affected. Luckily, it will not affect me because I don't really like TV shows unless they're reality. And even those are starting to look scripted now. But still, everybody's weighing in on it. Ellen DeGeneres.
has crossed the picket line to keep doing her show whoa and she says well she goes well the reason i'm doing is because a lot of people like plan trips to come out here you know we give them tickets they plan trips to come out here and they're gonna watch my show be taped But I thought it was kind of cool. Didn't she say she won't do a monologue until it's over? Well, I know in her first episode back since the writer's strike, because she did take like one day off, she didn't do a monologue. And then she said she's not going to because the writer. So I don't know how long that's going to last, if that was just the first week, or if that's something she's really going to stick by throughout the strike. We'll have to see. Well, I mean, it's kind of cool if she does, right? She's still showing her support, but she's trying to stay true to the people that won tickets and get the opportunity to come out there. I think it would suck if you're really into the Ellen show, you have a trip planned, you've bought plane tickets, you've bought hotel accommodations, and then you can't go. That would kind of blow. And I think that that's probably a majority of all that. After all that, you've still got to see Ellen. That really blows. Sky is not on that page. Not really. What's up?
I mean, I think that's nice that she's considering those people. But, you know, I definitely would never cross a picket line. Really? Yeah. Because, you know, I mean, these people are fighting the man. You know, they're fighting big business and they need everything behind them to do that. Here's what I think about picket lines. I say everybody has the right to picket and everybody has the right to protest and blah, blah, blah. That's your thing. And I think that's great and noble and whatever. Don't get me involved. You guys do your life and I'll do mine. You guys want to sit out in front of Vons and protest your grocer thing? Great. Get out of my way. I got apples to buy. Yeah, but that directly involves her. Right. It's like they work together. Doesn't it directly involve us when we want groceries? Like we're involved in that. Well, I mean, I'm saying specifically about the writer's strike. Right. that's all of their livelihoods. And if Ellen crosses the picket line, it's not advancing their cause. And you would think, you know, with them writing the stuff for her, she would support them. But she, isn't she, if she says, no, the show still goes on and that doesn't hurt. It's like if one of us had a beef, like me or Eddie or Sean had a beef with management and we're like, this means so much to us, we're going on strike. And then you just kept on coming in here. I would. I would say you guys need to figure that out.
And I wouldn't do that to you. And so you wouldn't show your support for us by... No, listen. First of all, if I ever went on strike, if I ever decided that I was going on strike, the show wouldn't be going on anyway. But if one of you guys... Well, what if management came to us? And said what? And said, we'd like you guys to go ahead without Mike. Go on the air? Yeah. Oh, I would think that that was crappy. I would think it shouldn't. Because it's the Mikey show. I would think that that was wrong. If you guys, plus, here's the deal. Let me explain it. If it's a show that is very specific, like if Ellen went on strike, I can't expect the people that are involved in that show to not show up to that show. And for her to say they shouldn't show up, that's ridiculous. But what's happening, though, is everybody, so all of us, every single one of us, say, you're screwing us over.
We're out of here. No, no. And then you crossing and going on by yourself. I definitely think it would be different if everybody banded together and said, hey, we have an issue. That's what's going on. If Sky had an issue or if you had an issue or one person has an issue, I think that's a different thing. It's not one person. Okay. But it's different to me. How? It's different because of what she's saying. Like people have tickets to go see the show. They got... You stop giving away the tickets. You call people as soon as, you know, you send out notices as soon as you know. Sorry. They knew this writer's trek was looming. Yeah. You know. Really? Yeah. It's been gone the horizon forever. I don't know. It seems kind of messed up. I feel bad for the, and I thought, well, it's kind of cool that she's not going to do the monologue. They write it. Yeah, but really that.
That's symbolic, but it means nothing because the networks are still making their advertising dollars and that's all that matters. If I was a writer on that show, I wouldn't want to work for her anymore. Talk me through this then. What do you think is like behind it? Because I don't think that she's like, I don't think that she doesn't give a crap about writers. Well, I have read stuff in regards to Ellen because her show is syndicated. So like say you're a Jay Leno, you're on one network. So the network would lose that show all the way across the board. But if you're syndicated, you know, slowly you could just be taken off stations here and there and here and there. So she's afraid of getting taken off stations. That's speculation that I've heard, yes. So that means that everybody in the Hollywood community, are they all behind this? Because I wouldn't be behind it. Well, it depends. I would say you guys have every right to fight for whatever you want. But I'm going to work. I have a job.
Yeah, some people are not crossing the picket lines like the late night guys, Steve Carell of The Office. He will not, you know, even though they have scripts in hand, he will not. What about the other people on The Office? Well, if Steve Carell's not there, then yeah. It's a good example of that one because there's a lot of writers that are on the show. Right, so obviously they were out. What about shows that don't have that? Like, I'm interested to see what shows like Loss, or yeah, you said something about Loss. Well, none of the shows are... go into production because they don't have writers yeah so they can film episodes they currently have in the can but they can't move forward with any story nothing new is being made i think it's kind of messed up but i think it's messed up for the other reason well yeah the only part that i think that totally sucks is the people who are like you know, making the very low paying wages like the sound boom guy or whatever, you know, he was going month to month as it is. But now with production shutting down, he's got nothing coming in and he's not on strike. And, you know, people like Ellen, like Leno, they can go without a paycheck for a couple months. But somebody like that, you know, it's going to hurt Christmas. It's going to hurt rent. You know, it's going to suck. I really got to think about this Ellen thing now. Yeah. Maybe you guys got me. Maybe it's wrong.
But I really do feel bad for all those people flying out there. I mean, how many people are flying out there? Dude, we would go, you know. But just for that? For Ellen? Yeah. Like, they're going to visit New York and to see family. I thought it's in L.A. Or whatever. Yeah. And while they're there, they're just going to happen to see Ellen, too. It's not like Ellen was the sole purpose. See, I'm thinking of, like, people like Ashley and even my wife that are, like, crazy fans of Ellen. And they write in because they want to go. Not because they necessarily have a plan to go. I'm sure they're going to honor the tickets. As soon as the writer strikes over, they'll go. Yeah, but what if you've already purchased? That's what she's saying. What if you already made your reservations? You already got your hotel? That's why the show should be out of production right now. What do you mean? If they should stop production of the show. Ellen shouldn't cross the picket line, first of all. They should stop production of the show, and she should say, when the strike is over, we'll honor those tickets that have already been purchased. So we'll pay for people to rebuy their plane tickets and pay for people? No, no, no. I'll either refund your ticket. She's only responsible for her show. I'll refund the ticket if you don't want to come back. You don't pay to sit in the audience. What I'm saying is, what about people that have non-refundable plane tickets, that have made reservations and done that?
I mean, that's a ton of dough. And I would think that there's a lot of people that have done that, and I thought that's what she was thinking, and it was jacked. But just to see Ellen? I would think so. See, I see somebody like it's your parents' anniversary, and you're going to happen to be in L.A., so let's see Ellen. No doubt that exists. No doubt. But what about people that do plan to go out there to see? I mean, I would think that there's a ton of people that would do that. Don't be mad at Ellen. Be mad at these jackals that aren't paying these riders. That's the whole point. Yeah. Fight the man, Mike. They deserve it. It's their fault. Yeah. Well, then they should pay. True food. Now here's something you may have missed this morning on the Mikey Show. Boston Rob mentioned to us off the air that he went wine tasting this weekend. Why is that out of the ordinary? Because you have Boston tattooed on your neck. You're Boston. Boston Rob, dude. So I can't be a wine connoisseur? No. No, exactly. You drink wine from the box. That's the best kind. Oh, no. I think this was the music they had in the background. He's reading the paper with his glasses on his nose. Carrying a wooden pipe. Yes. You know, dear, I was thinking about this weekend. We should hit the Temecula wine tasting scene. What do you think?
This one has a hint of strawberry and oak. Yes. This one has a woodsy finish, darling. Good legs. This one has notes of tannin and bar. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. Welcome back. It's 931. A Carlsbad woman was arrested over the weekend in connection with a fatal hit and run in Vista. Alcanone's Jimmy Johnson all but wraps up the chase title with his fourth straight win. We're going to do P1 trivia. And so we'll get to it in just a second. You might as well get calling, though. 570-1053. We're looking for a guy and a girl. And you need to be able to come into the studio on Friday and hang out with us in the studio on Friday. We're going to do that here in just a second. First, I want to get your guys' take on this. On the TV show The View, I guess they had a guest co-host spot open, so they asked Tori Spelling.
She comes on the show. Now, I don't usually play you view clips, stuff from the view, and we see this stuff every day. We got a piece of audio from everything. I don't usually play you clips from the view unless there's a reason to, and I want to see what people think of this. So, Tori Spelling is on, and I don't know, maybe I have to hear it in context and it'll make more sense. Cut 19. We call him monkey, though, so he was a monkey for Halloween. You call him monkey? Monkey. That might give him a complex later in life, because he doesn't respond to Liam, he responds to monkeys. I fear in school when they say Liam McDermott, he's going to be like, it's monkey, you know? That's so funny. Funny that you say that, that you call your son Monkey, because I remember when I was in the mall, this little English lady, she saw Jeffrey and she said, oh, he's so cute, he looks like a little monkey. And when I said to her that, you know, you can't be saying that, that's very offensive, don't you?
And I was like, any other woman would have hit you upside the head, but you can't. And she said to me, she's like, but that's what we were called when we were led to, a monkey. And so you called your son monkey. So actually, I should not have hit her in the head. You should have said, take this banana and shove it. I don't get it. So is the deal that she wasn't sure if she should be offended that Tori Spelling calls her son monkey? It sounded to me. Like, it was just an excuse to tell that story. Yeah. Kinda, yeah. Because, I mean, it made no sense. Yeah. Do you think that when she heard Tori Spelling say that she calls her kid monkey, that there was a second where she was like, call him monkey? Like, that there may have been some offense taken? Because she remembered the thing with her kid? It would be impossible. Like, that doesn't make any sense. Yeah, to connect the two would just be, like, crazy. This is weird, man. Yeah, maybe it was just an excuse to tell the story. Yeah, I think she just wanted to talk. First of all, a P1 is a Mikey show listener. It's somebody that turns their radio down, gets to the point, and doesn't cuss when they call into the show. They also listen for long periods of time, turn new people on to the Mikey show, and
And what we do is once a week we do P1 trivia and the winner gets to come hang out with the show on Friday. Let's see. P1 Nerd is on the line. Greetings. Greetings. There it is. There's a space delay. That's right. That happens with a satellite. Welcome P1 Nerd. Hello. I think he's going to be hard to beat. Yeah, he's good. He is a big time P1. And P1 Nerd, if you win, you will be available to come into the show on Friday. Oh. Of course. All right, very nice. Very well done. And we also have P1 Vicky. Vicky, how are you? I'm great. How are you guys all doing this morning? Very good. You got tough competition today. Oh, yeah. Okay, well, I'm ready. You're up against P1 Nerd. Greetings. Greetings. Nerd, how old are you? I am 25. And how old are you, Vicky? I am 41. Oh, wow. Now, listen.
This is going to be a true, true test of age and sex versus each other. Right. She's much older and she is a woman. Let's see what happens. Vicki, how long have you been listening? I've been listening for three years more, more or less, something like that, forever. Skye, who started first last time? The dudes did. All right, ladies first. Remember, we do one and three point questions. First person to five points wins. Ones are easy, threes are hard. Vicki, what do you want? A one, two, or three-pointer? I'm going to start off with a two, Mikey. A two. Your question is, who on the show has a new nickname of Oyster? Of what? Oyster. Who on the show has a new nickname, Oyster? That is not a legitimate question. I'm going to go with...
No, and I'm not going to charge you for that one. I just wanted to remind people that Ashley's new nickname is Oyster. That's all I wanted to do. That's all I wanted to do. Your name is Oyster. That's not even on your list? Mike? Yes, it was. No, it was not. Here's your real question, Vicky. Okay. Ashley's new nickname is Oyster. It is. It is not. Get back to the game, please. Your two-point question is, what degree of sunburn did Sky get when she had to leave? To go home. That would be second degree. That would be correct. That would be correct. Sky, for the benefit of those that don't know, you want to tell people what the story was? What are you guys talking about? Shut up. Eddie, you've never heard the sunburn story? Shut up. How dare you? How dare you? How dare you? Eddie, you do this every time. It's a bad memory. I had the early onsets of Alzheimer's. Oh, I know. It's true. I'm sure you do. Skye got sunburned. She went home. They told her to pee on it. Whoa. That's the short version. Wow. I always remember that one, Mikey, because my mom got, like, second-degree sunburned, and she had to lay on her back for, like, days with ice packs all over her. Wow. Did you do that, Skye? Poor thing. So you used ice packs, huh? I tried, yeah. It didn't really give me enough relief. You're probably worse than second-degree. Maybe. I heard she could see the bone. Yes, you could see my spine, Mike.
P1 Nerd. Greetings. A one, two, or three-pointer? I'm going to go tell you guys. I believe he asked for a three. Oyster. Shut up. All right, P1 Nerd, your three-point question is, what is the name of the new segment with Sean where he tells us about obscure TV shows? TV. Sean TV. That is correct. That would be Sean TV. That is right. P1 Vicky. Yes. It is a tough, tough race. You got the first one right. It was a two-pointer. You could wrap it up with a three. And what direction do you want to go? I'm going to have to play it safe, Mikey, and go with a two again. Okay. Up against somebody like P1 Nerd. That's a tough call. But...
Your two-point question is, who on the show goes up against the Charger girls for picks every week? That would be Eddie. That is correct. P1 nerd, greetings. Greetings. You going to wrap this sucker up with a two-pointer? I'll go with my two, guys. All right, we got it the first time, nerd. You don't have to do it every time. That's an oyster impression. That's my way that I do it. Great oyster impression. I'm not an oyster. Your two-point question is, name Eddie's partner or partners in the volleyball challenge. That was Ashley and Sky. That is correct. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Congratulations. I'm so bummed that I didn't make it down, guys, but I will try again. Don't worry, you can't try again. Thank you, Vicky, for playing.
Alright, have a good day. If you want nerd, we will see you on... Eddie is doing the international Vulcan sign for hello. Thank you. And we will see you on Friday. Please hang on the line. Sure. You guys get a lot of calls every morning that people will pick on Sky or Ashley or giving Eddie or Sean stuff. Every one of you are great. Thank you. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. Is this P1 Meathead? That's right, Mikey. What's up, man? Not too much, dude. Tell me your AIS story. I got insurance through farmer's insurance. They had me pay about $5.22 a month for a Dodge Ram. And I went to AIS. I got renter's insurance and auto insurance for $1.16 a month. Really? So you combine them? Right. So I'm saving about $4,848 a year. $4,048 a year? $4,848 a year.
