I've seen the end since laying in. I've seen the green grass outside. I just tried to score ahead of time. You know, the guy who typifies our season and what our guys are about is Darren Sproles. You know, fumbles the ball on the two. And when that happened, there wasn't any doubt in my mind he was going to make a big play that was going to affect this game. It's a playoff game, especially a game that certainly had some chances to win. So the Chargers made the plays when it counted. give them credit, and it's obviously a disappointing loss. One that we'll really savor just because of the type of win it was, but we're not finished. We know what we're up against next week, whoever it is, and just tell us when and where, and we'll be there ready to battle and fight and scratch and claw all the way to the end.
The suspect has turned himself in for the Solana Beach hit-and-run early Sunday morning that killed a pregnant woman and her unborn baby. You just heard it. The Chargers' miracle season continues. They beat the Colts in overtime 23-17. They will play Pittsburgh next Sunday. Yes. And we're back. All I kept thinking all this time was, what does Eddie think of this? What does Eddie think of this? What does Eddie have to say about this? What's going on? What are you doing? What are you thinking? Dude. It's unreal. Can't believe this. All of your predictions came true. We were on break, but Eddie said if the Chargers beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, write it down, they will win against Denver. They did. And then here they were against the Colts. Yeah, I really was confident about the game against the Colts as well, you know, on the pregame show. You know, for some reason, the Chargers just have...
Peyton Manning's number. He just does not have good games against the Chargers. He struggles against the 3-4 defense. I really believe they were going to win that football game. I was stoked to see that. It was one for the ages. That was an unbelievable game. We have a pretty big thing to tell you about just after 7 o'clock. A pretty gigantic announcement to make just after 7 o'clock. You're not going to want to miss it. In fact... Rob, send out a blast, let people know. Just after 7 o'clock, big announcement on the Mikey Show. You don't want to miss this. What else? I mean, and phone lines open. 570-1053 is the number. And then you can text us at 35253. If you've never texted the Mikey Show before, text the word Mikey first to 35253. Then we'll send you a text back and it'll explain how it works. And there's no, I mean, whatever the charges are, just whatever you have, whatever your charges for text messaging are. So two weeks off, you know, you're ready to come back. At least I do when I'm wanting to get back on the radio. For me, you know, a lot of the vacations that we have, I'm like, I'm not done. I'm not done. I still want to stay off. But when I get to that point where I'm like.
I'm ready. I want to come back on the radio. I know it's been a great vacation and time off and everything. Unfortunately, we were all sick. And I mean everybody in my family. Jake was sick. I was sick. My mom and dad, super sick because they're older. Theirs turned into bronchitis. going around. It was, man. Oh, yeah. My mom got it. My sister got it. Everybody I know was sick. My dad's girlfriend. Yeah, I got it. I wasn't sick. Sky, you got sick? Yeah, I got it. You did? Okay, you're the best, Chad. We know. Eddie, you said you helped me. Nice. That's right. I'm immune to your diseases. Yes. 570. Call us. Call us. Jump on that phone. Get in here. Get on the air with us. Sean, don't you want to be hanging out with us? Sean, did you get sick? I did not, no. Look at you. Of course not. Sean washes his hands every two seconds. A thousand times a day. And I don't go around people. I don't like people. I don't go near them. Yes, he does not. He does not.
570-1053. Jump on those phones. Call us up. Say hello. We're glad we're back. I feel like there's a little thing in my throat. I'm not talking normal. You know, because I'm just, I'm getting past this, but I still have a little bit of little froggy in there. Little froggy in there. New year. It's January 5th. It's 09. Friends in 09. That's right. Friends in 09, you guys. We'll see. Hold on. That's such an 08 saying. It's very 08. I didn't make any New Year's resolutions. Did you guys? No, I never do. You don't? Anybody? Skye, did you? I see a look. I, like, thought about it, but, you know, they're all kind of BS. Like, I want it. Oh, and you're perfect. Yeah. Stop it. I resolved to keep this up. No. Right back in the saddle. That's right. Great.
Like an old shoe. I don't like this shoe. Just like an old shoe. A very expensive old shoe. I'm donating this shoe to charity. It's a shoe that I drink champagne of. Oh, wow. Drink my decaf. Yeah, there you go. And vacation. 570-1053 is the number. People are scared to call us. I don't know why, but those phone lines, man, I mean, they're there. I know that because the ratings are gigantic. But the phone lines are, I don't know if they're scared of me. Like, I'm not going to hurt you. I promise you if you call, I will not hurt you. I will treat you with ginger kid gloves, and I will kiss you on the forehead. Oh. Baby kisses. Yeah, not calling early So08. It is, man. Thank you. No, if anybody was like me this morning, it's like you look at your clock and you're like, why? Why am I doing this right now? What time, Sky? What time did you get up? 3.30. And I looked at my clock and I said, who gets up at 3.30? This is stupid. Yeah. You're lucky. I woke up at 2.20 a.m. Why? Who are you? Like my body just did. And I looked at the clock and thought it said 3.20 a.m. So my mind, I think, got into like, all right, let's do this mode. So then when I turned back over and saw it was 2.30 a.m., I was already.
done. So I've been up since 2020. Oh, shoot. Right, Mom? Do we have to play commercials today? I mean, because there is so much ground to cover that how do we do it? How do we do it? First of all, I want to know. Phones are now ringing. So let's talk to some people. P1 Scooby. Yo, man, I wanted to be the first one to say welcome back and Happy New Year. Thank you, dude. Happy New Year. Happy New Year. Thank you, brother. How are you? Did you make any resolutions, Scooby? Yeah, I made a resolution to keep listening to the Mikey Show. Nice. Scooby, tell new listeners what a P1 is. Yo, yo, yo, listen up. A P1 is someone who calls in, doesn't cuss, gets right to the point, listens exclusively to the Mikey Show. P1's on.
And loves the show with all their heart. That's right, dude. That's right. Okay, Scooby Scrap, what's up? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Awesome. I want to actually tip my hat to the Chargers. All right. That hurts so much. Now let's just leave it at that, Scooby. That's nice of you. That's very nice, Scooby. We know you're a Raider fan, so that's very nice of you. And maybe we can just end it on that note. Well, you know, I have to jump on Missy's bandwagon because, you know, she's a Steelers fan. You do it. Yeah, our midday DJ is a Steelers fan. Well, that's not a bandwagon. She's rooting for the Steelers this week. Is she? Is she going to root for us? Probably. She's like obsessed. She's always been a Steelers fan. That's fine. Eddie, what do you do? Because you've been a Steelers fan since you were a kid. Yeah, you know, I have so much invested in this Chargers team. It's hard to not, you know, be on their side and be on their bandwagon. I mean, you know, I grew up cheering for the Steelers. I cheered for the 49ers.
But living here in San Diego, doing the broadcast, knowing the team, I'm more of a Charger fan than I am any of my teams growing up. Thanks for the call. You want some tea? I guess I need something. I get a bunch. Hey, do we still... I know. I'm serious. I have a bunch. Rob is... And varieties. Rob's really into tea. Tea connoisseur. Wow. He is. I'm drinking a green chive this morning. Oh, wow. I don't know if I like it. Green chive. Do you want some Earl Grey, Mike? May I interest you in some Earl Grey? Hey, odors. Do we still have that throat coat? Throat coat, yeah. Throat coat. Do we still have that? It's in my thing, I think. Will you make me a little steeping hot cup of coat throat? You want it right now? Yes, sir. We are going to, later on, we're going to read you this article that is out today in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. And it's written by Ron Cook. He won the American Idol last year. Oh, yeah.
See, I think that's a different person to you guys. I think that's David. I saw him on the Tonight Show. He was really good. Oh, he was on the Tonight Show? Yeah. Wow. Totally different human being. And he's a great sport writer. Yeah, it's weird that he's commenting on it. Now, this is Ron Cook, and he is a staff sports writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and he has written a doozy today. Oh, boy. And so the San Diego Union Tribune has printed it on their front page. We know what you're doing, UT. That's right. We know what you're doing. And if you, listen, if you don't get a chance to read it in the paper, you could always read it on the bulletin board at Charger headquarters. Oh, yeah. Because there's no doubt about it. You know those big giant printers that are like six feet wide? If I were Norv Turner, I'd print this article on that paper, that gigantic wide paper and just post it in the locker room. Yeah, blow it up. Because this is gnarly what is out in the paper in Pittsburgh today. So we will get to that in a little bit, tell you all about it. Gigantic story. When I heard this, I couldn't believe it. I still am sort of not, I can't believe this.
Sky won the poker tournament. What? The day we went on vacation. Wasn't it the day we went on vacation? The Friday we go on vacation. We're wrapping up the show. Eddie and Sky are going to compete in a poker tournament at Valley View Casino. How many people? It was over 20. It was like a celebrity charity tournament. So I get this text. Yeah! At about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, Eddie hits me with a text picture, and it's of Sky. I mean, with all the people that are representatives standing around Sky, just like you would imagine on TV and in the newspaper, with a gigantic check. It was so cool to have that oversized check. Written out to the Humane Society, her charity of choice. I love it! For how much, Sky? $5,000. Oh, my gosh. It was nuts. Yeah, it was crazy, dude. Talk about it. First of all, me and Sky roll in, and we didn't know what to expect. We just heard it was a charity poker tournament. They asked us to play, and so we're like, yeah, we'll go play. And Valley View is a great casino. I've never been there before, and it is top-notch. I was very impressed. And they have this new thing. The reason why they were doing this tournament is to show off their new...
automated poker tables. Yeah. So it's like you sit down and you have a little computer screen in front of you. And that is how you see your cards. That is how you bet. That is how you do everything. There's no dealer. Yeah, there's a big screen in the middle. Big screen in the middle that shows you the flop and all that stuff. It's so cool. And shows you the bets. Whoa. So there's no actual playing cards? No cards, no chips, no dealer, no nothing. It's almost like playing online. It is rad. It's crazy. It is a trip. So that's why they had it. We had no idea. So we were like, oh, that's cool. And so, you know, we were at separate tables and we're playing. And the next thing you know, we're at the final table together. And FYI, I was one of two women and it was like all sports dudes. It was all sportscasters from radio, TV, like Padres coaches. Trevor Hoffman's brother. Get out. He was the third base coach for the Padres, Glenn Hoffman. He played in it. Yeah, him and I were the final two. They were the final two. I was heads up with Glenn Hoffman. Are you serious? Yeah. It was unreal, man. Eddie, did you ever play with her? We got to the final table together. Yeah. And I went out fourth. Yeah. And Skye was just, she was dominating. Like, she was taking people out left and right. I mean, she took out almost everybody. And, you know, I just couldn't blame you sitting there in awe. And I was like. Did you say that, Skye? Were you like. Yeah. I basically. That's all right.
The funny part is, earlier that day... Every time she went ahead, she'd go... Earlier that day, Sky got an e-card from the Escondido Humane Society. Somehow found out that she was playing for them. And they sent her a good luck Sky card with a little baby kitten on the cover of it. And so I told her before the tournament started that they had a gun to the tournament. If she lost, they were going to pull the trigger. And so while we're playing, every time we play a hand, I'd be like, Sky, they're pulling back the trigger. And then the other funny part is right before the tournament starts, Sky says to the boo, hey, if I win.
I wanted that cat. I want to go adopt that cat. Are you kidding? And Boo goes, oh yeah, sure babe, whatever. Are you serious? Yeah, guess who has a new cat? Oh my gosh. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? You really did? Oh my gosh. It was crazy. She won the whole thing. Yeah, she won the whole thing. It was so nuts. And I was sitting there so quiet, not doing anything, because I'm like sandwiched in between Mudcat and some other sports TV guy. Mark Grant was played in it from the Padres. You know, this guy sitting next to him has no idea who he is. Because I only know him as Mudcat. Is that who Mudcat is? Yeah, yeah. I had no idea he had a real name. I thought his birth certificate said Mudcat. Yeah, so all these dudes know each other, and they're talking. I'm, like, sitting there all, you know, I'm the only chick at the table. And I just slow played. And Eddie really saved me at the end because I was heads up with Hoffman, whatever. And I don't know people. I didn't know anybody.
It's crazy. It's crazy. I didn't know until afterwards that he was Hoffman's brother and actually was a coach for Padre. I had no clue who this guy was. So anyway, nice guy. But we're playing, and so he goes all in, and Eddie's standing behind me, and I look at him, and I had, like, decent cards, and Eddie goes, just play your game. Just play your game. And I didn't really know what that meant, but I figured that meant I shouldn't go for it, so I folded, and that saved me. And next time she went all in and got him. Yep, and then I got him. Really? Yeah. It was awesome. It was crazy. Awesome. Dude. Yeah. It was really, it was so funny. And the boot. It's all your fault, too. What, what? The boot takes off, and he doesn't even see any of it. Well, because the previous weekend we were in Vegas at the Palms, and Eddie, Sir Chetty here gets him addicted to blackjack. Okay? He teaches him how to play blackjack, gets him addicted. So he's like, oh, I'll be at the blackjack table. Misses the whole thing. I'm getting a big check. There's TV cameras interviewing her. You didn't see any of that? I didn't see any of that. So Eddie, you're her standing husband. I'm in the background of her. Kissing her cheek.
It was crazy, man. And then she was on the news, which I saw on Fox. That's crazy. They don't say the show or the station, nothing. Of course not. But they interviewed this guy. They showed her on TV. It was crazy. And the North County Times did a nice little article where they referenced the show and the station and everything. That's crazy, man. It was unbelievable. What'd you name the kitten? Is it a kitten or a cat? Oh, it's a kitten. She's actually too small to officially be adopted. So we're fostering her until she's two and a half pounds. What does that mean? Well, because you can't officially adopt an animal from the Humane Society until they're spayed or neutered. But they can't do that until the animal weighs at least two and a half pounds. So when we got her, she was one and a half pounds. So we are fostering her. Until she's big enough to get her little snip snip. So she's with you at your house. Yeah, she's with us. But really the only reason they offered us to foster her was because of the holidays. Because they weren't going to be there. And she's so tiny, they didn't want to put her with all the other cats. Otherwise, what? They would have kept her until she turned two and a half pounds? Yeah, they would have kept her. Because she was actually staying in somebody's office in Humane Society. She wasn't with all the other cats.
You know, because she was so tiny. Did they find her, like, in the street or something? Somebody found her in Escondido in their shed. Oh, wow. And brought her to the Humane Society. It's like Sling Blade. Yes. Perfect name. That's right. What did you name her? Well, so before we got her, we had all these cute ideas. This is going to be weird. Carl. Yes. Carl. It's a girl. Oh, sorry. We had all these cute ideas of names like charity. Cat likes biscuits. No, we had all these cute names like charity or hope, like these kind of. You were so lame. You settled on Obama. The flop. The flop. We went through all of it, you know, aces, like the whole thing. And once we got her, none of it really seemed to fit. And since she came from the Escondido Humane Society, we co-started calling her. her Dito, and that is now her name. Baby Dito. There you go. That's a very Sky-like name. Yes, it is. It's a very Sky-like name. Unfortunate. And it is not. She is adorable. We named her Just Play Your Game. Tribute to Eddie. That's right. Hoffman whatever. P1 Brew. What's up, man?
Not much. I guess you guys answered my question. My wife thought she saw Skye there at the Escondido Humane Society the other day, and I guess that's what she was doing. That's it, man. Yeah, I was getting little baby Dito. She's getting Dito. Yeah. How are the other cats mingling with Dito? Oh, this is interesting. Because Skye's got two other male adult cats. Yeah, well, because she's so super tiny. We put her, like, in our own room, and we put a little baby gate, you know, in the door. Don't shake your head at me. Don't shake your head at me. We put a little baby gate there. We had a wetness. And it took her all of six hours to get comfortable enough to climb over the baby gate and jump on top of Tango. Will you take the nipple? Oh, wow. Okay. Wow. So Tango's doing okay with it. He kind of, you know, he's, like, annoyed with her, like, leave me alone, little brat, you know, but at least he's not mean to her. How about the Log? Oh, Logie Pants is not having it. Oh, no. Every time. Is Logan the one that's kind of mentally disturbed? I've heard him as slow. He's not slow. He's a little slow. He's special. Yes. He is special. And he...
Hisses at her every single time she gets near. Yeah, it is ugly. So we don't leave them alone together. And, uh, that is a work in progress. Well, eventually I think what happens is they take on the smell of the house and then they're normal. Cause I know that when we bring our cat back from the vet, it smells different. And so the cat, the other cats hate it. Yeah. Well, we gave her a bath as soon as we got her home, but, um, you know, that didn't really seem to help. She's still, they're hating her. Logan's a hater. Um, Let's see. 570-1053. I'll send you guys pictures. Please don't. I'd rather not. I'll pass. 570-1053 is the number. Our text, 35253. And you can also leave a message for us on our answering machine. And that number is 858-715-1923. We're back. We're in the studio. We took about two weeks off. And we're back in the studio. I started a gigantic thing in earnest. over the break, which is writing a memoir. I've wanted to do it for a while. In one form or another, I've wanted to write. My initial thought was that I was going to write non-fiction. It's what has always interested me. After a lot of thought and some prayer about it, I decided that ultimately it would be a memoir. My dad was asking me, what's the difference between a memoir
and an autobiography, meaning when somebody's writing their autobiography. The difference is that a memoir is more about memories, specific little chunks of your life, instead of a detailed sort of recounting of what's taken place. And memoirs have always interested me. I love memoirs. I love reading little memories of people's lives. Ultimately, this will be something that tells a story that I've never told on the air and also kind of tells you what ultimately led me from the person that I used to be to the person that I am today and am still becoming. And it's a process. And so I started working on that and really working on it. That was a cool thing to get in and start doing that. Well, let me know if you want me to recount the story of the shoe falling on your head in Rochester. I'll do a little ghost writing. We can actually recount it right now. It's hysterical. There's no reason to talk. It sounds pretty funny. That's right. Eddie and I have known each other for many, many years. And while living together in Rochester, New York as roommates, Eddie.
called me frantic one day from his bedroom. The apartment we lived in. Shared an apartment. I went running into his bedroom. All 375 pounds of me. Stop. I know it was at least 400. That is true. His work goes closer to four. I was winded after getting to the end of the hallway. But Eddie was frantically calling me. I ran into his room. I opened the door and Eddie had engineered. So funny. A booby trap. And the booby trap was his high top tennis shoe above the door and the door jam positioned in just such a way that when I opened the door, the high top tennis shoe would fall onto my unsuspecting head. That's brilliant. Yes. And many of you are asking yourself, well, why did he do that? I don't know.
I don't know why. I don't know why. I don't know. I do know this. I do know this. Thank you. I don't know. I don't know even today that I've ever seen Eddie laugh as hard as he laughed then. I mean, I've seen him laugh at some stuff, but he laughed at that. I mean, he had a good laugh. It's funny. Girls don't do those things. They don't do that. No, that's weird. They're not funny. Our neighbors came over for the Charger game, and also you guys know Kimbra and Lori, and they came over. And between my wife and Kimbra and Lori and Amy, who's our neighbor from across the street, between the four of them, they made comments during the Charger game, you just don't hear guys make. You just don't hear guys make. Kimbra at one point said, no, it was Amy. She goes, it was something about his clothes or the uniforms not matching something. They didn't match. They didn't match well, I guess, with Indianapolis' uniform and something about the way that it's not flattering to their butts or something.
And I was like, yeah, and I made the point. You don't hear guys really say that when we're watching a football game. That's an observation we just don't make. You know what I mean? Okay, we're going to take a quick timeout, but we got stuff. First of all, Sean Merriman's going to come on before the hour's up. So within the next half hour, Sean Merriman will be on to tell us about what's going on with the Chargers. And also, just after 7 o'clock. A very, very big announcement, Mikey's show announcement, just after 7 o'clock. Also, we did Weekend Worry Wart before we left, and it was kind of a holiday edition. And so when we come back, we'll check in with the people that we talked to right before we went to break and find out, hey, so how did that turn out? People were worried about stuff. We'll find out how it turned out when we came back. Got to read you this article that's on the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune sports section today. written by a guy that writes for the Pittsburgh Gazette. And it is going to really inflame San Diego residents. We'll be doing P1 trivia so somebody can come in here and hang out with us on Friday in the studio with a backstage pass. And also, we're going to be updating everybody on what happened in the playoffs.
Don't act like you didn't say it. You did it. Did you think about her on Saturday during the Arizona game at all, Eddie? Dude, hysterical. Yes. I'm on the air, you know, broadcasting, doing the pregame show, and I see in the corner of my eye Larry Fitzgerald make this crazy catch, this crazy touchdown catch. Not two seconds later, I get a text from Ashley saying, that guy is so freaking awesome. The one guy she knows, Fitzgerald. She said to me. He's a freaking miracle. He is. He's a damn miracle. He's unreal, Eddie. 42-yard touchdown. Give me a break. I told her, every P1 watching that game thought of Ashley when Fitzgerald was doing his thing. Freaking Fitzgerald. Brian Regan in the stand-up spotlight. I have three. Like the daredevil thing, you know?
I used to enjoy watching Evel Knievel, and I feel bad for him now. He's a little older. He doesn't jump, but he always does these talk shows, and every time he does one, they want to show him that footage where he fell off the motorcycle and bounced around like 83 times. That's what they show him. Hey, do you remember that day, Evel? Oh, no, I don't know. And they always ask him what he was thinking right before he hit the ground. What kind of question is that? What were you thinking right before he hit the ground, Evel? What were you thinking? I remember thinking, hey, did I turn off the iron? Then my leg cracked in half. Then I was thinking, hey, maybe I should get a puppy. What do you think I was thinking? I was thinking, something like that if I remember right. Let me go back. Yeah, yeah. I believe those are my thoughts. I hope I've crystallized them for you. I want to let you guys know how much I really appreciate your show. I try to catch every minute. Thank you, man. We appreciate it. Thank you very much. Hey, it's Mikey for Amco.

An autopsy is scheduled for today for the 16-year-old son of John Travolta, who died Friday in the Bahamas. Baltimore beats Miami 27-9 after picking off Chad Pennington four times. The Ravens will play Tennessee next. Ed Reed talks about the victory. I mean, it's special, you know, because we've been building a team for a long time around here, you know, and it's since I've been here this month. First playoff win. You know, a lot of guys in this locker room first playoff win in this league, you know. So, I mean, this team just trying to stay focused. Now it's time to get ready for the next one. The Travolta story is a sad story. His 16-year-old son dying while they were on vacation in the Bahamas. And just a really, really sad, sad, awful story that came. When was it, Sky, last week? Friday. Friday. Yeah. This was a... the attorney for the family. Cut one. At this point, we know that John and Kelly Travolta's only son, Jet Travolta, had a seizure. All attempts were made to revive him, but were unsuccessful, and he died. That's a sad story. Thoughts and prayers to John Travolta and his family. That's sad.
And I guess he had something called Kawasaki syndrome and had it since he had it since the early 90s. And I don't know what it is, guy. Do you understand it? Well, from what I read this morning is that Kelly Preston, you know, John Travolta's wife, his mother, said that the condition was a result of exposure to toxic cleaning products when he was younger. He got really sick with high fevers and it just shut down his immune system. And then he became susceptible to seizures and have been having seizures pretty much ever since. That's terrible. Terrible. Some of the text messages that we're getting. Welcome back. Mikey, the Border Patrol night shift. Missed hearing the show every morning. Glad you guys are back. Happy New Year. It's P1 Border Patrol. Mikey, loving my Sweet Berry Wine CD. Neil Diamond's the best. P1's school teacher. I haven't even seen the CD. I don't have a copy in my hand. I do not. I haven't seen it. Did it go out? I guess it did. Wow. Sweet Berry Wine. I have not seen. I do not have a hard copy. We've been gone. We've been out of here for a couple of weeks.
This one says, welcome back, Mikey Show. Happy New Year. May God flood your lives with his blessings this year. Here's to another year of laughs together in 2009. That's P1 Welder Boy. Nice. Awesome. Thank you. The show is back. We're in the studio, and we're open to your phone calls at 570-1053. And, man, Josh Lewin just walked into the studio. There we go. Josh, listen, Josh is the play-by-play. He's the play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Chargers. And if you haven't heard his work, let me familiarize you with Josh Lewin. Cut 44. Rivers gives to Sproles, angling left. Has room. 15, 10. Josh, what was it like calling that game? Well, actually, let me revise the question. Which was more exciting, Denver?
or andianapolis boy that's a great question mikey i mean they were both awesome in their own way you know denver just became a route and it became kind of a you know an all-night party as it was going on right so that part was fun and it was kind of like okay what's you know you had that air of anticipation you could really feel it building you know here we go here we go here we go indy i mean i don't know about you because i mean i heard you saying you were watching on tv and i agree about the whole butts not flattering thing right right yeah but the uh You know, there was just angst. You know, everybody was just so nervous. It's like, wow, there's Peyton Manning. Yeah. You know, and wow, there's the Colts again. We've already lost to them. And, you know, so to pull that out, you know, with no LT and I mean, here they go forward. No LT, maybe no lights out. We knew that one. You know, two best players. I mean, maybe in football, offensively and defensively are out. And they beat Peyton Manning. So, you know, so that one and the way it ended, you know, just boom. That's like Eddie said, man, they got that. They got that Indy number. Somehow, the Chargers, they got that Indy number. And I had such a sinking feeling, too, once Darren Sproles fumbled on the one-yard line and then Rivers threw the pick. And how many interceptions could they have dropped in that game, too? And all these chances, and you're thinking, boy, this is a team we saw for the first eight weeks. They can't get out of their own way. It's like the Three Stooges out there. What are they doing? And then, all of a sudden, Indianapolis never commits dumb penalties, ever.
That never happens. Then they committed three in a row. Yeah. You know, and Peyton Manning never saw the field in overtime. So it was very cool. And, you know, to go out into that night, kind of a chilly night on a Saturday night, not a Sunday night, which was kind of cool, too. You know, you had all the Sunday to recover. Right. That was a fun weekend. It was, listen, if you're a Facebook guy or gal, you probably, that's all you were seeing Saturday was all I was seeing. as people were updating what they were up to, pictures from the game, the Chargers, Chargers, Chargers, and we've discussed this before. We're not a sports city like Boston. We're not. But when our teams start to win, it's a frenzy. Well, in Nick Canepa's column the other day, I thought it was just spot on, you know, when it talks about what you're talking about right now, Mike, you know, that fever, you know, it's so valuable to this community, any community. I mean, you know, it just galvanizes everybody, just puts a spring in their step. And, you know, everybody, everybody, you're on your way to work right now, what are you going to be talking about? You know, it's going to be the Chargers game, and it'll carry you through the day today, you know.
Mondays are supposed to suck inherently. You know, I mean, and the Chargers, thank you, you know, now give us just this total joy going forward this week. Well, we remember the Marty days of getting to those playoffs, and we just, you know. I'm watching it. He's Googling Larry Fitzgerald. I'm watching it. See, then I thought when you looked at me, I thought that was like a cue, like for me to go and do it. My bad. It was a very cool weekend. She misread you. I know. You're doing the hand signals like Peyton Manning, Eddie. That's right. Let me tell you, it's an exciting thing, man, to win that game. Going into it, I'm thinking to myself, is this going to be what we've seen in the playoffs again and again and again? But you know what? Last year in the playoffs, and I really think they drew from this psychologically, and Eddie, you might differ on it, but once LT went out, it was kind of like, okay, we've seen this movie before. It was against Indianapolis in the playoffs last year when it was Billy Volick. And Legadoo Nane, you know, getting them all down the field. And it worked. So, I mean, there's LT looking more like Lance Armstrong than LT. He's just on the bike. He's pedaling and he can't go back in. I don't think there was this foreboding sense of, oh, no, what are we going to do? It was like, all right, we've done this before. Let's do it again. And they did. It was awesome. Now they've got to stick the landing in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh. I was hoping Nashville, dude, just because that's a better town. Yeah.
Pittsburgh will not be easy. But they were right. If Phillip had had even a mediocre game in Pittsburgh, they win that game. And Phillip has been way better than mediocre ever since then. So I think it's all good. I don't know if you've seen it. Did you see the front page of the sports section today? I did. I saw the guest column. I was at Ron Cook, I guess, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Don't give it away because we haven't read it yet. Well, it's not flattering. Let's just put it that way. Yeah, it's going to get some people worked up here in San Diego. We're going to get some people worked up and end up on the bulletin board at Charger headquarters, for sure. All right. We'll blow your nose in a terrible towel as of Monday. That's right. That's the hope. And you guys are talking the lights pretty soon, too, right? Yeah, yeah. We're going to have Sean Merriman on. That had to have been fun for him. You know, I mean, it's killing him not to be in there. But, you know, there he was rallying the troops before the game. Jumping around. He's jumping? Yeah. He was in, like, you know, they brought the team together. And guess who's right in the middle? Really? Sean Merriman. Firing him up. Sean Phillips has been giving that speech most of the time. And I think maybe Cooper sometimes. But, you know, you break out Merriman just, you know, every once in a while for that inspirational, you know, bunch of.
Words we can't say even on your show. And it fires the guys up. Yeah. Well, it's going to be a very fun weekend. No doubt. Hey, welcome back, by the way. Thank you, dude. I'm so glad to be back on the radio. It's so cool to be back on the radio. I'm standing down for Eddie's big announcement, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait, wait, wait. We don't want to say what it is. We don't want to say who, what, or anything. So it's coming up. Hey, listen. Let's do this. Eddie, do you have... Do you have update stuff that you're ready to do? Sure. Let's do... Let me find... I'm still getting the swing of how to be a DJ. Oh. Remember when... Yeah, I just started doing this. And so I'm still trying to get a handle on how to do this. Let's see. Where are my... Here we go. I need this. Eddie, what happened and what's going to happen? Well, yesterday we saw Baltimore beating Miami 27-9, which means the Ravens pretty much determined who the Chargers are going to play. So with Baltimore beating Miami, they're going to travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans next Saturday. Okay. Okay, that means that the Chargers, they will play Pittsburgh on Sunday at 1 o'clock. Okay.
So that's the AFC side of the ball. On the NFC side, on Saturday, Fitzgerald in Arizona. Oh, watch out. They beat the Falcons 3-24. And so they're going to take on Carolina next Saturday. That's going to be the Saturday night game. Yeah. Arizona-Carolina. And then Sunday morning, you're going to see Philadelphia take on the Giants because Philly beat Minnesota 26-14. Okay. Okay, I got it. And then on Friday, I want to ask you for predictions. All right. I was four for four on these wild card games. I picked all four. Killed it. Wow. Killed it on the Tampa deal, too. If the Chargers play Tampa, win. They go play Denver. They kill them there. That happened. And now, dude, now all I want is what do you think from this point on what's going to happen? And a city just going nuts. A city just flipping out right now. Where's POD? Let's do this. I know it. Now let's fire it up. You know what I mean? Come back. Sean Merriman will be on the air. Just after 7 o'clock, a big announcement. A big Mikey Show announcement coming up just after 7 o'clock. If you have more than $10,000 in credit card debt, listen to these shocking facts.

I don't know if you've seen it. Have you seen the article in the front page of the Union Tribune sports section today? No, I didn't. Okay. You got to pick up a paper, Sean. Oh, my. I was going to do this later, but maybe now is the time. Maybe now is the time. I want to see if you think that this will make it on the bulletin board at Charger headquarters in the locker room, Sean. This is the front page of the San Diego Union Tribune sports section.
a writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has said. The headline is, Steelers shouldn't fret about Sunday. It says Colts would have been bigger threat. At the risk of violating Mike Tomlin's most sacred role, sorry coach, let's look ahead and ponder a couple of delicious questions. How would you like another Pittsburgh Steelers-Baltimore Ravens matchup at Heinz Field in the AFC Championship game on January 18th? It's going to happen. Write it down. Wild card weekend couldn't have turned out much better for the Steelers. Because of the results, they get a relatively weak opponent, the San Diego Chargers, at home Sunday in their first playoff game and won't have to go to Tennessee for the AFC title game. The Baltimore Ravens are going to take out the Titans on Saturday. Write that down, too. The Chargers did the Steelers a favor Saturday by beating the dangerous Indianapolis Colts 23-17 in overtime, thanks in large part to two defensive holding penalties and a face mask personal foul against the Colts on the Chargers winning drive. Better that than the Chargers coming to Heinz Field. Especially, or better that, better that the Chargers come to Heinz Field, especially if injured star...
Running back, LaDainian Tomlinson, can't play. Then the Colts with the great Peyton Manning. You can argue a home game Sunday against the Dolphins would have been the Steelers' easiest path to the conference championship game, and I won't disagree. The Dolphins were the worst of the AFC teams playing this past weekend. We also lose a little entertainment value with the Chargers as the opponent. It would have been great fun watching Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter squawking at Ben Roethlisberger and Willie Parker. Oh, well. What's important is that the Chargers are a lesser team than the Steelers. They were an 8-8 club that made the playoffs only because the Denver Broncos gagged down the stretch. I don't buy that they're hot at the right time with five consecutive wins. I might buy it if LT were healthy, but he left the Colts game early with what appears to be a serious groin injury, and it's hard to imagine backup Darren Sproles running for 100 yards against the Steelers the way that he did against the Colts. Certainly there's no way he gets 178 yards in kickoff and punt return yardage against the Steelers coverage unit. Phillip Rivers is a fine quarterback, better than fine if you look at his NFL 105 passer rating with 34 touchdowns, but...
He struggled big time in an 11-10 loss to the Steelers on November 16th at Heinz Field. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and linebacker James Harrison had interceptions, and Harrison sacked Rivers for a safety. Rivers' passer rating was a season-low 44.4. Didn't help that even with Tomlinson in the game, the Chargers rushed for only 66 yards. The Steelers, meanwhile, had one of their better offensive days, although you wouldn't know it by the score. So as long as the game doesn't come down to punters, did you see the way Chargers' Mike Cyphers kept pinning back the Colts? I'll still take the Steelers despite Cyphers' edge over Mitch Berger. He's one final thing to write down. This isn't the last time you'll see Berger's name in the paper. He'll be front and center in the news when the Steelers and Ravens play in the AFC Championship game because he accused Ravens' Frank Walker of spitting in his face during their December 14th game. I can hardly wait. Sorry, Coach Tomlin. So he's basically, Sean, he's basically already looking ahead to the Ravens. He's saying that the Chargers are the lesser team. Will this end up on the locker room wall at Charger headquarters? I'm sure that will happen, but, you know, that guy also sounds like an asshole. I would agree with that, by the way. I would agree with that, by the way.
You can't keep writing things like that. I mean, predicting the game and step by step. And I'm sure reporters and writers do that. But that's just going a little bit too far. I mean, he almost sounds like a fortune teller. I mean, you don't know if he's a mind reader or a psychic or what. But, I mean, he's basically calling the game play by play. And if it happens like that just then, I'll call him personally to go work in Vegas because that's the only way that you know something like that. I mean, really. Let me ask you, Sean, does this actually motivate a team, or is that something that we as fans just think? Well, it's not coming from the team. You know, it's not coming from the team. It's not like one of the players said it, so it would be a little less locker room material. But at the same time, he is one of their, I guess, one of their biggest writers, if it may, front page of the union. So with that being said, of course we're going to look at it. But we're not going to get caught up in reading papers. We're not going to get caught up in reading papers. It didn't come from Ben Roethlisberger. It didn't come from one of their players. It didn't come from a coach. It came from a writer who obviously is a psychic. It seems kind of like the attitude that they have, though, a little bit, that they're already looking past the Chargers, which is crazy being that they only won by one point.
Well, one thing you have to understand, even last year when we played the Colts, they were 87% favorites in the playoffs. 87%. That's right. I mean, that's a lot. That's a hell of a percent for a team that we beat three straight years in a row, even last year. So it's not surprising. It's not surprising that we were 4-8 in teams counting this out. It's not surprising that... That they're talking the way they are. Pittsburgh is a heck of a team. They really are. They're one of the best defense in the game. They have a heck of a quarterback. And they're just good. But that doesn't mean that we're not going to come out there, put our helmets on, and get ready to play some football because this is playoffs. You don't know what's going to happen. And just like we beat the Colts. We're going to go out there and look for a victory as well, probably against even a better team. But we have to go out there with the same mindset. Psychologically, I think that this is the best place to be. I mean, the team has now taken down the, you know, just won nine in a row Indianapolis Colts. And they're advancing to Pittsburgh, where...
I'm sure a lot of people, just like this writer in Pittsburgh, are going to be dismissing them. So, I mean, going into the game, are they going to have a chip on their shoulder, do you think, Sean? I think we have a chip on our shoulder anyway. We have to go in there and take care of business. Like I said, we're going to see one of the best teams in football on their field in the game we lost very close against. So this time we have to go out there and not make the same mistakes. We've got to go out there and capitalize on the things they do wrong, and that's the way we're going to win the game. We have to win. I can only imagine what it must have been like when Darren Sproles ran in that touchdown at the end of the game. I can only imagine what it must have been like in that locker room afterwards. Can you take us in there and describe it? It was exciting, man, how that game came down to overtime. You know, Dee Sproach fumbled on a two-yard line. You know, he came in there and he wasn't upset or anything, man. He just came back and came through for us again. You know, normally if a guy fumbled towards the end of the game with a two-yard line, you know, guys got their head down, their tails tucked, and they're ready to take it to the locker room. And it wasn't that feeling on the sideline. It was a feeling that, okay, we're about to get this one back. You know, we're going to stop and we're going to get the ball back and then we're going to score. So we had that kind of confidence level.
going towards the end of the game. Eddie, you got a question? Yeah, Sean, have you had a chance to talk to LT yet? And if so, do you know his status for the game on Sunday? Yeah, I talked to him. I don't know his status. I know he was in a bit of a pain. But, you know, this late in the season, everyone's hurting. Everyone's hurting this late in the season. So I wouldn't be surprised to see him geared up and go out there and try to do it again this week. So now, what is the week like for you guys? Does it change with the playoffs? Do you guys still get, what is it, Monday or Tuesday off? They usually get off Tuesday, right? Yeah, Tuesday. Does it stay like that? Will you guys check in at Charger headquarters today and then tomorrow off just like normal? Yeah, probably so. But, I mean, just late in the season and all the things that's on the line. You have so many guys that spend a little bit more extra time with their body because in the playoffs, man, things get faster. Guys trying to get more rest because this is it. You lose and you go home, and that's the great thing about the playoffs. Yeah. So my wife wanted me to ask you what the tattoo on the side of your neck says. I said, I don't know. Oh, it says finish strong. Finish strong. That's right. That's cool. You see it. It's in cursive on the side of his neck, but I never knew what it said. When did you get it?
Three years, I guess, now three or four years. Was that something that a coach used to say, or was that your, is that like your phrase? No, that's like my phrase. I would say it, even outside of related to football, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. And this season alone is a prime example. Wow. I mean, never before has that tattoo that is on the side of your neck come more into play than now. Finish strong. And that's what they got to do. Have you talked to the guys? Are you guys already in a Steeler mindset? Or does it take a couple of days to kind of just repair yourselves from what you just went through? I think right after that 60-minute ball game against the Colts is over, you walk into that locker room talking about the Steelers. You know, everyone is patting each other on the back and happy. But at the same time, it was Steelers talk already in that locker room on the way in. Oh, and by the way, I heard that you were firing up the guys before the game. How's the knee feeling? I feel pretty good, man. Like I said, it's a process. I can run around and move around pretty good. So I have so much time, so I'm just going to keep working. Is it tender? What's it feel like? No, it feels just like a normal knee. I got cleared to run. I feel good. And I got so much time before I got to get back on the field again. So I'm really just...
doing my part, what I can do right now to be around the team every day and show the practice, watch practice and work out and rehab. There you go. How was New Year's? It was pretty good, man. It was pretty good. I didn't get a chance to spend it with my family this year, but had some close friends around and some teammates. That's cool. That's cool. Well, listen, Sean, best of luck. I hope that this weekend is fantastic for the Chargers. I hope they win and hopefully we'll be talking to you again on Monday. Sean Merriman, has been the contributor for the Mikey Show every week after the Charger games, and I hope we keep that going. Emergency crews are on the scene. Watch for a backup around that. As you come north on that 805, you're going to find some slow traffic developing now from right around Home Avenue to 94 all the way into North Park. Westbound 8 has also got some leftover slowing here as you come in towards Mollison. There was an accident there that had that Mollison Avenue exit. The offer up there is shut down. And now some slow traffic around Lake Murray. South 15, you've got the usual slowdown from the 78th of your Rancho Parkway. And then a brief delay about the 163 split from an accident clearing there. And 805 northbound, also seeing some more heavy traffic now coming out of Kearney Mesa up towards Governor Drive. This report, San Diego's updated weather. How about looking at sunshine today? Actually, Sky will give that to you later. She'll talk more about that. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Oh, scared, confused, and compelled. San Diego's Rock. Mikey moment. We were in the, we were at the gate in San Diego waiting to get on the plane to go to Las Vegas. And this kid walks up and says, are you Boston Rob? And he goes, yeah. He goes, I have your autograph. It was like the mean Joe Green scene in the Coke commercial. So yesterday Rob's at Walmart and he's Christmas shopping. And one of the guys that works there.
As the dollar store closed. Back to the Mikey show on The Rock. Rock 105.3. 17. For the second weekend in a row, Marley and Me was the number one movie at the box office, making just over $24 million. Sources say that the Patriots are going to put the franchise tag on quarterback Matt Castle. Oh, wow. Don't hassle Matt Castle. Which means they will have $29 million tied up into two quarterbacks. Are you serious? Yeah. Because Brady makes 15, and if they franchise Castle, he'll make 14. So that's $29 million for two guys. Dude. Stupid. That is crazy. Not worth it. Both those guys. No. Worth every cent. You're going to have one guy sitting on the bench. You're going to pay $14 million to a guy that sits on the bench? But he is good at sitting on that bench. Oh, my God. He's even better when he comes in. Loyalty, huh? I'll tell you what.
So before we went to break, we did Weekend Worry Wart. And Weekend Worry Wart is where we get people on the line and they tell us what they're worried about over the weekend. But we were gone for two weeks and there were some people that actually called us beforehand and let us know what was on their mind before they left and what they were kind of worried about. And so we have some of these. And who do we have on the line? Do we have somebody on the line yet? Yeah, I think we have Max. Max. Yeah. Let's see. Here was Max. A white girlfriend, and my parents are having a party, and I'm going to be bringing her over to the house. So basically, I'm going to be having my own white Christmas. Like, are your parents not okay with that, or are they going to be cool? Well, the thing is, they're not aware of it, you know? Yeah. Have you ever dated a white girl before? Never. There it is. So we have Max on the line. Max, are you there? Hey, what's up, man? How you doing, fool? Take it down a notch, Eddie. How did it go? Everything went okay. I mean, for the most part, you know, me bringing her there, it was a little shocking at first. But everybody adjusted and, you know, I guess because of the holidays, maybe they accepted it. But, you know, they really haven't said too much about it since. Really? What were the looks on their faces like?
Oh, man, the Popo's here. The Popo? Why'd she be the Popo? I don't know. Eddie. Whatever, dude. Eddie, that's... You're so dumb. That's ridiculous. I don't know. I wasn't there. You don't know. I'm asking a question. You're the worst. I'm sorry, Max. Max, what's up? Talk about it. Well, you know, first what happened was, you know, I went to the house and, you know, I told them I had a surprise for them. They were like, Kind of, you know, edgy trying to figure out where I was going with it. So I just said, you know, don't worry about it. Wait until I get there. So when I get to the house, you know, it's a big surprise because I'm not with an African-American woman. I'm with a white woman. Right. Where are the white women at? And so they just looked at me like with maybe a little bit of disbelief and shock at the same time. But I guess the holidays, they didn't want to spoil the moment. So I guess they just basically went with it. And my dad kept pulling me to the side and say, son, what are you doing?
And how do you answer your dad when he says, son, what are you doing? I mean, I really didn't know what to say to him besides, you know, it is what it is. I mean, there's really much that I couldn't do about it. I really like this girl, and I just thought maybe by bringing her around, maybe they'd be able to accept her. Well, and Max, I don't understand the tactic of, I have a surprise for you. You know what I mean? It's a white girl. Merry Christmas. Yeah, surprise. Don't get that. Oh, wow. It was definitely a white Christmas. Was she nervous? Oh, she was very nervous. I bet. Very, very nervous. I bet. You're just way too white for me, homeboy. All right, dude. Thanks for the call. We appreciate it, Max. All right, buddy. Thank you for the update. P1 Sally is on the line, and let me play you a little bit of Sally, what Sally said. I work with my boyfriend, and I found out that before he and I were dating that he had been intimate with his boss who's married. And I was told by another coworker who's a friend of mine, and she thought that he would eventually tell me, and he didn't.
So she told me, and I'm going to confront him this season. Now, Sally is on the line. Sally, are you there? Hi. Now, Sally, let's kind of review here a little bit, catch people up. This is a guy that you've been dating for three years. Yes. And he still works with this woman. Yes. And this woman is somebody that was married at the time that he was sleeping with her. Yes, and still is. And still is married? Yes. To the same person? Yes. And you said that your boyfriend and her are still very friendly with one another? Yeah, like they get along really well. And you were concerned because he'd never told you about it? Right. And plus, even if he did tell me, like, it's still awkward. You know what I mean? I don't want him working with some woman that he... was intimate with that's like working with like your ex-girlfriend or something you know it's so weird and sally how old are you 24 and he is 28 okay and so we talked to you on friday before we went on vacation and you talked to him saturday or sunday about this um well we actually spent all of new year's together we were i talked to him let's see on the second which i actually that's his birthday
And I forgot, what is that, Saturday? Yeah. Yeah, so I talked to him on his birthday. Okay, we're all confused. I'm looking around this studio right now. Sorry. And we're all confused because you waited and didn't discuss it with him until his, of all days, his birthday. I know, it came out that day. It wasn't like a planned day, like I'm going to talk to him. But you said you were going to talk to him that weekend. Yeah, you were going to talk to him two weeks ago on the weekend. Did you want to see the presents first? Sally, was it about the presents? You wanted to see what presents he was going to give you? I took her to a dinner in Bel Air. Is that what he did? I don't know. We were just talking about work stuff. And then I'm like, I just jumped in. It was perfect opportunity just because we were talking about work stuff. Okay. But you... Tell us, Sally. Okay. Wait, wait, wait, wait. Tell us why you didn't discuss it with him that weekend. I don't know. I just couldn't. I kind of didn't want to know. I don't know. We were having such a nice time. I didn't want to ruin it. I don't know. It just didn't happen. I just couldn't do it. Now, what Sally had said was that...
There really wasn't anything that he was going to be able to say that was going to change her thoughts or opinions about it. She was, you know, so, okay, so tell us what happened when it did come up. Well, we're sitting there talking about, like, work procedures and how his boss is getting on him for being late on something. And I'm like, listen, is it true that you slept with your boss? Like, I just kind of came out and said it. And his face, like, I can't even explain to you the face that he gave me. He was like, I don't know if it was shock and absolute fear, but something around that. Shock and fear. Yes, it was horrible. And he goes, well, I don't want to lie to you.
He's like, I didn't want to tell you because it was the biggest mistake of my life. Good answer. Smartest. Smartest. Smartest. Biggest mistake of my life. Yeah. Where is the soap opera music on that one? Winner. Yes. He's like, the biggest mistake of his life. At that point, his boss had been living with her mother for, I think, four months. They had been separated. And they were trying to get, like, divorce paperwork set up, I guess. I don't really know. But he said that they were just friends. Like, she was leaning on him for, like, support. And they were, like, really close. And it kind of just happened. So, anyway, the French onion soup looks good. Well, let's go ahead. Well, that's taken care of. Yeah.
Sweep that right under the rug. Well, see, there's a whole thing here. There's a whole psychology. When you're bringing this up at a fancy restaurant in Bel Air, my guess is that no matter what he tells you, you don't want to ruin the good, you know, it's the same philosophy of why you didn't tell him the first time. meal. You're sitting here in this fancy place and like, what are you going to do? Break up right then and drive back to San Diego? You're eating some delicious sea bass. Exactly. You're having some Chilean sea bass. How much is that? I do. It's delicious. So you didn't break up, right? I didn't break up, but I said... But I did have a fancy dinner. I had a great steak. It's kind of tricky just because... They were out of the risotto cake, so I had to get the mashed potatoes. Oh, that is tricky. That almost ruined dinner, but... But... I'm a loser. I don't know. No, we're not saying that. No, no, no. Don't do that. Sally, you're not a loser. You're a human being, and you know what, ma'am, when we're in love?
But sometimes we go, I don't want to face that because it's just, I don't want, you know, I'm in love and I don't want to ruin it. I don't want to lose that guy. I don't want to lose that guy. And so I'm not even going to, I'm not even going to go there in terms of like. Well, we're not going to judge because we've all done it. Yeah. We've all been there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And what happens is, is that the cards play out, you know, the cards play out. And so, you know, just, you just got to let the cards play out. Exactly. I guess. Yeah. Oh. See, even you sound like, oh, I know this isn't good, but my heart wants what my heart wants. It sounds bad when you hear it, but, you know. I know. It does. Exactly. We were sitting there at dinner, and we were talking about everything and, like, how it was the biggest mistake of his life. Oh, wow. Man, that is the third time I've had to hit that button. It's ramping up. It's ramping up. Passing in 09. That is the deal. Remember the rules. Please remember the rules. The rules have to change. No, it's 09. I thought that was one of the new ones. I heard of there were laws. There were law changes. Oh, wow. I'm so sorry. It's okay.
Oh, my goodness. Sally. Oh, crap. Sally listens. Ashley, what? Well, I had a question. Go ahead. Okay, well, so my question, Sally, for you was, is his answer that he gave you enough? Of course. Are you going to be holding any type of resentment? Are you going to be holding anything over his head in the future? Because if you are, then that sucks. Because you should pretty much, like, let this go now. Right. Are you going to hold anything in? I'm not going to throw it in his face, but it makes me think stuff when they work together. Of course it does. Zeth, I have a question. Are you guys hiring right now? Calm down. You're the worst. You are the worst. I'm curious. Well, what did you say?
What? I didn't hear it. All I know is you just fist blew it up. I'll have to figure it out as it goes. I didn't want to make any concrete decisions because I really do love him. Of course you do. Of course. I don't know. It was before us, but still, I don't know. We'll see how it goes, though. That's awesome. We'll probably end up raising up because I'll kill him. Listen. I didn't say that. She was joking. All right. Thank you, Sally. Thank you. Mike. Listen, just sounds bad. That's all. If you put it on paper or do a drawing of it, it's not that bad. You draw it like a stick figure or it out loud. It's just when you say it out loud. You draw stick figures. You're like, me, boss. See, it's not that bad. Oh, my gosh. This was P1 Kevin. Well, I've been dating this woman for about six months, and she has a three-year-old son. And the son's daddy lives in Atlanta, so for the weekend, he's coming down to pick up the son. But while he's here, he's not going to leave until Sunday, so he's going to be staying at her house. And I guess the first part about it, their relationship was purely sexual when they were together. Crazy. Dude, how crazy was this? And so we were saying to Kevin, Kevin, dude, you've got to throw the gauntlet down and say. Put your foot down. Can't do that. You there, Kevin? Oh, wait, wait, wait. Sorry. Wait, wait, wait. Kevin, you there? I'm here.
So what happened, man? Well, okay. He came into town, actually, that Thursday evening. That Wednesday, we got into a big argument. She told me if I couldn't accept it, then we were done. Okay. That Thursday night, he gets there. And she called me and said, we need to talk. I asked her, what about? Because there was really nothing to talk about. Well, wait. So what did you decide? Well, if that's the deal, then I choose. Yes, he can come stay here and I'm going to be okay with it? No, I told her we were done that Thursday night. That Wednesday night that we talked, I told her it was done. Okay, got it, got it, got it. I just told her I wanted to come over there and pick up my clothes and everything because I had left some clothes over there. Right. But so I couldn't do it that Thursday because she was going to pick them up. So that Friday morning, I get a phone call and an old friend had come back from the Philippines. An old girlfriend.
And so she called me and asked if I wanted to see her or anything. You know, something I debated and debated. But that Friday night, it was on two weeks. That Friday night, I was going shopping. I went by myself. And I was just in a bad mood. And I got into a kind of traffic situation. And some guy said the wrong thing. So it was fights and arguments and everything the last past two weeks. Some guy just caught me at the wrong time. So he caught one at the wrong time. Oh, no. What? But okay, but I was just... Oh, my. Now, Kevin, Kevin, hang on a second. Hold up. Wait a minute. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have to... We got to review. We got to review. Clarify this. You break up with her Wednesday night because she says you either accept it or we're done, and you say, I choose, we're done. Right. And then on Thursday... The following day, he's supposed to be coming into town, right? Right. And did you say she called you? Yeah, she called me because we were planning on me coming to pick up my stuff. Uh-huh. So that Thursday night, we didn't do it. That Friday night, I was out shopping. So that on Saturday, I went... Now, wait, wait, wait. When she called you, what was she calling about? Well, I had sent her a text saying I wanted to pick up my clothes and everything. And that's what she was calling about. She wanted your clothes out of there.
Yeah, no, I wanted to get my clothes and stuff out of there. And so she was calling you to let you know what? When I could come and get them or whatever. And when did she say you could come get them? I was supposed to get them that Friday night, but that's the Friday night that I went to the mall. Got it, got it, got it, got it. The mall. The mall. And so, okay, so she calls you back. Now, when she called you back, Kevin, on Thursday, when she called you back, was the guy in town yet? Yeah, he was sitting in the living room. She said she was in the bed. Oh, awkward. Wait. The bed? What? Another thing, we got into an argument that night. Oh, goodness. And then when she was getting ready to hang up the phone, she was like, you're stressing me out. I just need to go release and stress and hung up the phone on me. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Yuck. Dirty. Wow. And so when she called you on Thursday, she says, I'm calling you from the bedroom or the bathroom? She called me. I said, right now, she said, I'm in the bedroom. I said, where is he at? She said, he's in the front room with his son. I'm like, whoa. Yeah, she didn't want you to hear the conversation. Or she didn't want him to hear the conversation. Okay, so then, well, let's fast forward. So then we go into Friday. Right. And you're in a bad mood. Yeah.
I had to work that morning, so I went to work, got off work, and went to finish up some Christmas shopping. Now, let's talk about the girl from the Philippines for a second. What is that? That's an old friend. Yeah, right. She was in the military out here. She flew back to the Philippines. She was out there. And she came back and she propositions you and says, hey, you want to get together and hang out? Yeah. And you said no? Not at first. At first you said, yeah, sounds good to me. I'm single. And then what happened? You changed your mind? Friday night, I was supposed to meet her that Friday night after I got my shopping done. But like I said, I went to Plaza Bonita. I was in a parking spot. Some guy pulls up behind me. And I'm trying to get out. I'm waiting like five minutes. So he's just sitting there. So I toot my horn. And the argument starts. And like I said, I was in a bad mood. Oh, no. He called me the wrong word at the wrong time. Kevin, how old are you? I'm 37. How tall are you? I'm about 5'7". How much do you weigh? 180. Are you a pretty strong guy? Two times Golden Glove boxing champion. Oh, no. That's not good. Okay. All right.
57180, yeah. He's got some power. Yeah. Wrong place, wrong time. Wrong place, wrong time. Well, who's that? Plaza Bonita? That's right. Oh, dude. Oh, that guy picked the wrong place. Now, let's take this moment to illustrate and drive this one point home. Okay, all right. Fellas, don't get into it on the road. Thank you. I got brothers and a brother named Rob that does this, you know. What? They get angry in their car. Yep. They get angry in their car. We've all done it, guys. We've all done it. We've all gotten angry in our cars. Just really, guys, don't because it could be a two-time Golden Glove champion that you're getting angry at. And then you're, you know. That's why you carry your friend Louie in the back. Oh, no, you don't, Rocky. He's a good slugger. Yeah. So how bad was it, Kevin? The situation at the mall? Yes.
He didn't get any licks in, but I got a few, and I think he pretty much regretted when his girlfriend had to put him in the car and leave. Okay, so no cops were called? No. It was kind of late at night, not too many people out there, and it was pretty quick. It didn't last too long. Yeah, I got you. So he gets back in his car, he drives away, and then what do you do? I get back in my car. I get ready to go to the girl's house. The Filipino. Thinking about it as I'm debating on going over there, I get a call from my ex and she says she wants to talk or whatever. So that's when we talk again for a few minutes. And like I said, she had already made the comments about relieving stress and everything the night before. And I was like, so did you relieve that stress? And she was like, that's not what I meant. I just wanted to get some sleep. Because that's how we all relieve stress. Of course. We sleep it off. Yeah. We don't make love at all. Do we? Never. So instead of going to the other guy, we decided we would pick up my stuff that Friday night instead of that Saturday. So I go over there by like 10 o'clock at night and she's sitting waiting in the truck, in her truck. So I get in her truck and look around. I'm like, where are my clothes? She said, I haven't brought them out of the house yet. I'm like, well, you knew that's what I was coming over here for. She was like, oh, you don't want to talk about it or anything?
Well, why don't we talk about it inside, darling? She's like, but if he doesn't stay here... I can't have sex with him. Don't you understand the predicament I'm in? What don't you get? How can you not understand? If he doesn't stay, we can't do it. So help me here, okay? I want to make love to the man inside, and you're my boyfriend, and you're standing in the way of this with your whole... Boyfriend-ness? Don't you understand the convenience of him staying here? Yes. If he stays at a hotel, I have to go there to make love to him. It just wouldn't work. Yes. So, what do you say? I say I want to close and I'm going to be going out with an old friend from the Philippines.
And she's like, what is your problem? How dare you? Pretty much. Did she really? She's got rocks. She's got a set of rocks on her. Oh, man. Let the romance begin. So how did it end? We're back together. Kevin! I knew that. And he just put his hands up like, ta-da! It's another Christmas miracle. Oh, my. Kevin. You're the best. Like you all said earlier, love, to make you do crazy. Oh, yeah. You got to let the cards play out. We got to party with this guy, you know what I mean? You got to let the cards play out, unfortunately. Very sad. Wow. One more thing? Yeah. Oh, I changed my name. It's no longer P1. Kevin's going to be P1 Carolina Panther fan. What do you mean? Well, I'm from North Carolina, so I'm a Carolina Panther fan.
Okay. We'll send out the announcement. I'm a Chargers fan, so I want them to meet in the Super Bowl. Kevin. What is going on? Don't try to change the subject. Come on. Don't you go try to change the subject. I'm rooting for them this weekend. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're rooting for you, buddy. You need to punch yourself. Yes. You know what I mean? You need your golden glove yourself. Shut your mouth. Kevin, I say good luck, sir. Yes. Thank you. So let me guess. To the next visit. Yeah. Right? Dude. All right, Kevin. We'll see you later. All right. Have a good one. Wow. Wow. Dude. Unreal. Hey, he is forgiving. I'm in shock. Yeah. P1 Leonidas is waiting to tell us that he proposed to his girlfriend, which she knew he was going to do. It's kind of, I mean, boy, after all this stuff, Leonidas, it's kind of a... Did you say yes? This is crazy. Leonidas? Leonidas, she said yes, right? Of course. Of course. Of course. Well, thank you very much. Congratulations. Congratulations. You're getting married, and we do say congratulations to that. Well, hey, I can't wait. It's in Maui this year, and you guys are invited. Oh, I'm there. I am there. Yes, yes, yes. I accept. I accept. I accept. You'll be flying us, and we accept. It's on you. Yes, it's on you. We accept you. Thank you. Thank you, Leonidas.

And coming up out of the South Bay, you've got some heavy traffic on both the 5 and the 805 northbound. The 805, though, in particular, very tough off and on through National City, then into North Park. over the 8th to Murray Ridge, and now a crawl from the 163 to Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105 for 8. Mikey Show. Hey, people, I'm Brad. What's up, Brad? I went to sleep training, got myself one of the freaking nicest mattresses there. They gave me it for less than half a bite. What kind of mattress? I got the Sturgeon Foster Silver Dream. That's the one I have. That thing is supposed to be like $69.95 or something. I think I got it out the door $28.50. I got it for $3,200 and then somebody else at another store beat my price. So they came back and beat it by 5%. Damn. That's nice. And they gave me free mattress cover, free pillow cover. What size did you get? A twin? Or what did you get? I got the California King. Oh, you big pimp. Ashley's in. Oh, dude. It's pretty comfortable, huh?
I'm still waiting to get it. I have a roommate that's moving out soon that's going to go in that room. Oh, it's the greatest bed ever. That's the mattress I sleep on. It was so freaking comfortable at the showroom. Yeah, did you get in there and take a nap and take pictures? We love you, Brad. Thank you, Brad. Later. We'll see you. Hey, Mikey. In fact, if you have your check engine light on, you've got to take it to AMCO today. Don't take it to the dealership because a lot of times what they're going to do is they're going to hold you hostage. They're going to take your car and you're going to call them and go, hey, is my car ready? Well, you know, we've got to do this, we've got to do that. You've been through it. Don't do that anymore. AMCO wants to get you in and get you out, and they don't want to fix what isn't broken. That's the key. They don't want to fix what isn't broken. They do oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, cooling systems, but they're the world's best transmission place. Transmission's the part of your car that does what your legs do. That's what gets that thing moving. So my advice to you, go into AMCO today if you've got that check engine light on, and if that light is on,
They'll tell you why for free. And if any additional diagnosis is required, mention to them that you're a P1. You'll get 10% off on all repairs. AMCO is double A. Beep, beep. M-C-O. He's been told that he will be fired if he interviews for the head coaching vacancy with the Jets, which is scheduled for today. Really? Well, that definitely makes a guy feel warm about the job they have. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. We have been kind of teasing this all morning long, telling you that we had a big announcement to make during the 7 o'clock hour. Sean, drumroll, please. Who's your daddy? Oh, my. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to be a dad. There it is. Is going to be a father. Can you believe this? It's crazy, man. I had a feeling. You already knew. Shut up. Yeah, you already knew. This is stupid. Okay, I'll go. Eddie, when is the baby due? Baby is due in July. So she's about 12 weeks from now. That is so crazy, man. Wow.
Unreal. I can't believe that my best friend at 20 years is going to be a dad. I can't believe it. Because all I remember is just us being kids. And, you know, this is a symbol of adulthood. That's kind of how I thought when you got pregnant. And I was like, whoa, dude. We're grown up. That's weird. Yeah. Yeah. But, I mean, we're old guys. We've got to start popping these things out. I know. Dude. So, he's going to have a kid in July. Do you guys have a feeling of what it'll be, boy or girl? I'm leaning towards girl. I'm leaning towards girl. Yeah. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Rob. Boy. Shawnee, you're big. I want to say boy as well. Ash, what do you think? Boy, girl. I'm leaning towards girl as well. Zeth? Girl. Eddie, do you have a feeling? I do not have a feeling either way. Which is kind of weird. Yeah. When I refer to it, I refer to it as, and I'll catch myself, I'll say he. Yeah. And I'll be like, he's this, he's that. Although the other day I said she for the first time. Really? So I don't know. And what does Debra do? When I say he? No, what is she? Does she refer to the baby as any specific gender? Sometimes she'll say he. Really? Yeah. But not very often. Because, you know, there's like a wives' tale that the mom knows. You know what I mean? So if she's saying he.
And we always said he. Yeah. Like, on her side of the family, it's all the, like, nieces. Yeah. It's all nieces. They don't have a nephew yet. And so they're all clamoring for a boy. Oh, yeah. And on my side of the family, girls always come first. Like, my sister was first. Really? My cousins, it's always the girl that's usually first. Yeah. So, I don't know. This gives new meaning to the... named Mama D. Eddie's wife Debra is on the line. Hi. Congratulations again. Thank you. Careful she's with child. Just be careful. I'm very cautious. The last time I saw you Debra was Vegas. Are you getting a little, are you starting to show? Oh yeah. Is she? Close my mind. But, I mean, like, I don't know why that's a bad thing. She's pregnant. Yeah. Like, she's supposed to show you. Yeah. So, how big is your little baby bump? Well, I can still fit into my regular pants, but some of them I have to unbutton. Yeah. And what about morning sickness? Are you getting any morning sickness? No, knock on wood. No morning sickness at all.
Really? Sean, really. Now, that's another wives' tale I've heard. When you don't get morning sickness, boy. Really? That's another wives' tale I've heard. We're less trouble. We have a boy, and we have a boy, Rebecca, did not have morning sickness. She just didn't experience it. She starts to feel kind of nauseous and sick at dinnertime. Really? I don't know what that means. Yeah, from like 4 to 7, I don't feel so great, but I haven't actually thrown up. How about that? So how does it feel to be a expected mommy? Fantastic. Aw. What's that name? It's like when Eddie rubs my belly. Is that nice? That's crazy. Oh, I bet that sounds like fun. Has the baby moved yet? Yeah. Well, we haven't felt it move, but we went in and had the big ultrasound while we were on break. And seeing it.
and seeing the heartbeat and hearing the heartbeat. That was a moment. Did you cry, Eddie? No, I didn't cry. So it wasn't like the notebook? Sky, now is not the time. He's an emotional man. He's only cried during the notebook. And I didn't cry. I had something in my eyes. I think his eyes did get a little red. That is so cool. It was huge, man. It was, you know, and what was crazy is, you know, you see sonograms and stuff on TV and it's just kind of like the picture of the baby and that's it. Yeah. Well, like, you know, they were doing, you know, doing the sonogram and like the baby starts. flipping around and moving in there. I'm like, is that normal? The doctor was like, well, that means it's a healthy, active baby. That's good. I was like, whoa. I was doing somersaults and handstands. He's probably got your dance moves, man. Eddie sent a picture of the sonogram. It's the clearest.
It's the clearest sonogram I think I've ever seen. It's so clear. You can see the baby so good. Very photogenic. Yes. Well, look at who his daddy is. Hello. That's actually how we told our families. We wrapped up frames of the sonogram and gave them to people. Oh, dear. That's awesome. They freaked out. Oh, I love it. They must have flipped. Yeah. So what was your mom's reaction when you told her, Eddie, that you were pregnant? Oh, my mom is... put on earth to be a grandmother. That's all she's wanted. Everybody around her, all my cousins have kids and she adopts them as hers and stuff like that. It was crazy, man. She just started freaking out and screaming and jumping. I've never seen my mom jump before. She starts jumping. It was pretty cool. Debra, how about your mom? My mom, we gave her a mug that said, new grandma. And she opened it and she looked at it and she goes, new grandma. She goes, but I'm not a new. And then she looks over at me and I said, yes, you are. And she's like, grandma. And she gives me a hug and said that the Lord had answered her prayers. That's great. Wow. That is great. Awesome. Have you felt the baby move in there yet? No, like kicking or anything. None of that. But I can definitely, like something's moving around in there. Yeah.
Yeah. That's all the refried beans she's been eating. There you go. She does. She eats them hot. Is that like a food that you crave, Debra? Refried beans and cheese and potatoes. Hey, dude, you know there's a wife's tale that refried beans means a boy, dude. You don't even know what you're talking about. Dude, I'm my fourth kid, bro. My wife, dude. Yeah, dude, my wife on our fourth was like, Beto, get me beans. When I was married. You're a virgin, Beto. We all know it. We all know it. Okay, I will tell our story. It was one crazy night. That I believe. It's another time. Deborah, congratulations. Thank you. Eddie, congratulations. And the calls are coming in. All right, Deborah, we're going to take some calls.
Alrighty. Bye, guys. Listen off the air. People are calling in. P1 Jenny Jen. P1 Jenny Jen Jen. You there? Oh. Jenny Jen Jen. 5701053. Here's the texts are coming in. 35253. Congratulations, E-Dog. That kind of deal. And are you guys still planning on not finding out the sex of the baby? Yeah. It's going to be a surprise. Dude. Everybody we tell freaks out. I don't know how you do it.
That's crazy. I love it. That's crazy. That's how it was done for years and years. Thank you. Well, yeah, the cave people. Yeah, the cave people. You know what I mean? But, you know, for me, I was on the fence. I could, you know, I could go either way. But Debra really wanted to be surprised. And I said, all right, that's cool. I mean, it's going to be a Star Wars room anyway, so who cares? Let's just slow down. So dads that are listening right now. What does Eddie need to know? Oh, yeah, Rob, you have to move out of that room. We're going to need it now. Sorry. But everything's the right size. You're a jerk. You're a jerk. I'm going to need those booties back. Oh, that's fantastic. Yeah, so call us right now at 570-1053. And what is your, what does Eddie need to know? What does Eddie need to know about being a dad? What did you not know before you became a dad? What's going to change? That kind of stuff. 570-1053. P1 Scooby's on the line. What's up, Scoob? Hey, what's up, man? I wanted to say congratulations, Ed. Thanks, dude. Really quick, I don't really have any advice to give you. I just wanted to know really quick.
You know, hey, are you going to send him to Jedi training camp? Is he going to be a young Petawan? Yeah, will there be a training camp going on, Eddie? A Jedi training camp? Duh, no question about it. That goes without saying. Teach him well. I think that goes without saying. Okay, this is getting weird. That will happen, by the way, I'm sure. He will be in Jedi training camp. No doubt about it. See, I'm saying he. Now you got me on the he train. I know. Weird. 570-1053 is the phone number. P1 Matt is on the line. Hey, guys. How's it going? Good, man. Hey, Eddie. Congratulations, bro. Thanks, dude. Listen, dude. Take lots of pictures. They grow up fast. I have four. I've been home. My oldest is nine now. And, dude, they just grow up so quick. Yeah. One of the things I got Debra for Christmas was a new camera. Yeah. So that, you know, our camera would bulk out. Get ready for a big ride, dude. That's right. Yeah. It's going to be crazy. Yep, set it on babysitting. Just stick the camera on babysitting and keep it there because that's all you're going to do. I need a video camera now, too. Oh, yeah. Oh, for sure. I want to tape a lot of stuff. P1 Josh. Yeah, hey, how's it going? Congratulations, Eddie. That's really awesome. Thanks, dude. There's one book that you got to read, you and Debra got to go pick up, and that's Baby Wise. I've heard of that. It's definitely a must read. As soon as the baby comes, it's all about getting the baby on a good sleep schedule so you guys can sleep peacefully throughout the night.
When my boy was born, he was sleeping throughout the night at nine weeks. Nice. That's awesome. Nice. It's baby wise? Yeah, wise. W-I-S-E. Okay. Cool, brother. Yeah. All right. Congratulations. Thanks, dude. My advice, Eddie, happiest baby on the block. I told everybody about happiest baby on the block. That thing, that was like, it was like baby whisperer thing. Is it a video? It's a video and a book. Okay. They have both. The video is really good. And basically, it's this idea of he calls it the when the baby's born, he calls it the fourth trimester. And so he just does this thing where you swaddle the kid, you wrap it in a blanket like a burrito. And you do. And so he says, because the kids, you know, they they still want to be in there because it was so comfortable in there. And so when they start crying and stuff, a lot of times it's not about food. It's not about anything. They're just crying. And you're like, I don't know why this kid's crying. But the kid's crying. You put them in that swaddle. You wrap them up like a burrito. I mean, it's like magic. They just stop. They just stop, you know, dead in their tracks. And they're happy. It's weird. That's crazy. The little blanket swaddle thing recreates like the woman. They're all stoked. That's cool. 570-1053 is a phone number. And her text number is 35253.
If you missed it, Eddie's going to be a dad. 570-1053 is the phone number. P1 trivia still to come. And other great stuff coming up for you, too. When we come back. sleep train mattress centers. Still some tough spots on our freeways here this morning. The southbound on the 5 is still quite a struggle down the North County shoreline as you come from Point City Lane in Carlsbad for a slow crawl all the way to Solana Beach. The 15 on the other hand is looking pretty good southbound out of Escondido. Just a brief slowdown at Felicita, then you're good to go. Westbound on the 8 freeway, they're still finding some breaklights here through La Mesa as you come in from Spring Street out towards Lake Murray. And the 805 northbound, the heavier freeway of the 2-5 and the 805 out of the South Bay is 805 pretty backed up from Mesa College. All the way up to Governor Drive and the Golden Triangle. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Shut up. Hey, shut up. San Diego's Rock. This is the Mikey Show. Feet featuring Mikey. I think I have an issue with numbers and letters. Read them. I really do. Eddie. I have my knowledge in my head. He's the Oracle. I don't need notes, Sky. When my hands become saturated in water, the palms get, like, disgusting. They look like a frog. Sean. Most of you listening right now, I don't like you. Okay, wait. I don't like you very much. First of all, Boston Rob. Do you guys know that if I don't write stuff on my hand, I'm an idiot? And Ashley. Just because I like oyster stuffing does not mean that I am an oyster. You keep saying it, oyster, but you know the real deal. The Mikey Show's on. Top of the morning to ya. Rock 105.3. It's a Mikey Show. It is 8.13. After pleading no contest to lesser charges, Heather Locklear got her DUI charge dropped on Friday.
Falcons coach Mike Smith wins the AP Coach of the Year. He won by one vote over the Dolphins' Tony Sperano. To be a father. It's so surreal to hear, man. Dude, who needs to be calling you daddy? 570-1053 is the phone number. Text number 35253. So before we went to break, I said we were going to tell you what the traffic stats were like for New Year's Eve, New Year's Day. Yeah, the New Year's weekend. What happened? Well, in San Diego County, the deaths were up, but the DUIs were down. So five people died this year in San Diego County compared to just two people who lost their lives in the same time period last year. As far as DUIs go, there were 103 DUI arrests in San Diego County, and there were 122 DUI arrests last year.
Yeah, and then, you know, two of the deaths include that crazy story out of Solana Beach that happened on the 5. Yeah, tell us about that. This is horrible on so many levels. So it was really early Sunday morning, about 1 o'clock in the morning. And they were driving north on the 5 in Solana Beach, just north of Lomas Santa Fe Drive. When this one car was spotted driving really fast, really crazy, and crashed into another car. Sitting in the other car that was crashed into was a woman from Tijuana, and she was six months pregnant. And she was halfway ejected from the vehicle and died. A witness on the scene, like a bystander, a do-gooder, went over and was helping people out of the car and helped the two guys out of the car that caused the accident and said, wait here, I'm going to go help the people in the other car. Well, they didn't wait there. They took off on foot.
They took off running. But since the vehicle was still left at the scene, they identified a guy as, you know, a suspect, a person of interest, a 27-year-old guy from Carlsbad, and he turned himself in last night. What is also gross and creepy about this whole story, the mother and baby unfortunately died at the hospital. The woman, when she was ejected from the car, partially her purse was also thrown from the vehicle. A car stopped. Took her purse and took off. Oh, come on. Like robbed her purse. Like with that horrific crash going on. So they're also looking for that person. So the suspect, the guy who's suspected of driving the vehicle, turned himself in last night. But the passenger in his car is still at large. And they're still also looking for whoever took the purse. Yeah, a very, very tragic story. That's terrible. Yeah. And that happened Sunday morning? Yeah, early Sunday morning. And then the dude turned himself in to the police late last night. What's the deal with Al Franken in the state of Minnesota? What is up with this? Al Franken was running for Senate there. And, you know, he was running against this Republican guy.
The Republican won initially by a very, very small margin. And the margin was so small that they do a recount. When it's that close, when the race is that close, they do a recount. So they did a recount. They counted more absentee ballots that they got. And it looks like Al Franken has now won. Get out of here. Yeah. And so basically they're ready to announce Al Franken as the winner of the Senate seat in Minnesota. But I thought he was a comedian, Stuart Smalley, on Saturday Night Live. People apparently like him. So the Republican, who now is all mad, went to... Minnesota Supreme Court requiring them to do an investigation. So if the Supreme Court agrees that an investigation is warranted, then Al Franken won't officially be the winner until the investigation is done. But if the Supreme Court there in Minnesota says, no, go away, then Al Franken is the winner of that sentence. Wow. That does sound shady. Like, all of a sudden, then he wins. But it was such a small margin, and there were still a bunch of absentee votes that hadn't been counted. I ain't buying it. I say let's vote again. Please. Wait, vote again? Vote again.
Everything. I like it. Do over. Redo. Yeah, you have a redo day. Yep, try again. You call it redo day. Oh, no. And everybody goes and does it again. I don't think so. Uh-uh. Okay, and then what's up with this Bill Richardson, New Mexico's governor? So Obama appoints him. Commerce secretary, right? Yeah. I love this guy. He, you know, ran for president on the Democratic ticket, the governor of New Mexico. He's great. Mexican? Yeah. Yeah? Yeah, he's great. I liked him. And he... He's corrupt. He's corrupt. No, Eddie. No. There's an investigation, okay? So, let's get this straight now. Governor of Illinois. Corrupt. One of the first guys that Obama appoints to his cabinet. Corrupt. No, that has not been proven. Let's do the math here. Allegedly. Whatever. This is disgusting. You're disgusting.
So what happened? Well, Bill Richardson, like you said, was nominated to Commerce Secretary. And so he has stepped down because he doesn't want this investigation distracting or tarnishing the Obama administration. Probably a good idea. So basically there's a grand jury investigation because there's this California company that contributed to the Richardson campaign and his, you know, things he supports, was a big contributor and then got a one. I heard it was Osama bin Laden. I heard that too. Osama bin Laden is a California company. Yes, he does. Okay. He owns a UPS store there. That's right. And a Foster's freeze. And a Foster's freeze. Works at the 7-Eleven.
The California company that contributed to Richardson's campaign got a $1.5 million transportation contract in New Mexico. And so there is a grand jury investigation into whether there was some sort of shady dealings there or if they legitimately got the contract. But even though Bill Richardson says he's innocent and he's been cleared in the whole thing, he still doesn't want to distract from Obama and his administration. That would be a distraction. The text number is 35253. The texts are coming in. Good morning. Congrats, Chetty. Come on. Any ideas for a name? Perhaps Brett. That's P1 Charger. Eddie, if you're into that kind of thing, ask if you can deliver the baby. Okay, wait, what? I got my catcher's mitt. I did it with my son and there's nothing like it. It's P1 Herald. I didn't know Harold delivered his own kid. He's got the hands for it. Yeah, he's got those. He's an arm wrestler, you know what I mean? He's giant hands. Says, congrats, Eddie. Having a baby's awesome. One of the greatest moments of my life when my son was born. Now Rob has someone his own size to play with. He's a good big brother. Not that much bigger, but... Eddie, are you talking about names or are you not talking about names? What did you think of the name Silo?
What do you think of the name Shiloh? I love that name, but we're going to go in a different direction. Really? I'm not going to say Shiloh. For the boy, we have a name picked out, which I will not reveal. Dang it. For the girl, we have a few ideas, but I will not reveal. Sky. Is Sky one of them? Apple. I think we're going with Alan. Alan? For the girl. Sky likes that. That's her note. Sky just got puffy bottom up. Sky just got puffy bottom up. Alan! It's a family name. Eddie, what about the name Ashley? Would you ever consider the name Ashley? It's kind of a stripper name, but... Why the secrecy? What about Sarah? Would you consider the name Sarah? Oh, I love that name. How dare you. There it is. Your girl's name, you're not going to reveal that either? Nothing. No reveals? No reveals. Until the moment. have to wait that long? Yes, you do. We all get to be in the room while she's delivering. I'm going to say yes. You're in charge. Yuck. You're cutting the cord. No scissors. It's your kid you're talking about. I've seen Mad vs. Wild. I can handle that. First inappropriate joke. That's the first one.
I love 09. I heard Friends in 09. I'm with that. Sky, give us some of the celebrity New Year's resolutions. Oh, good. Good times. Okay, let's see. Who do we have? Cameron Diaz says she always has the same New Year's resolutions. It's to stop smoking, to start wearing a bra, and to stop shopping. Those are exactly Rob's resolutions. The exact same ones. Rob, you're going to try to stop smoking, right? Yeah, I actually am. How many of you smoked today? Four. Three or four? Two on the ride in. What are you doing to stop? Yeah, what is different? I went out and got the patch because your wife suggested it. Yes, and now I have way more nicotine in my system. Yeah. I tried to smoke those. Now I'm waiting. I got to be mentally ready. You got to be. Rob, you've been saying that you were... That's what you were supposed to be doing was getting ready for the first of January. I was preparing, but I'm not ready to go into battle yet. I'm not ready to do it yet, you know? I'm waiting for that moment where I can mentally go, you know what?
No. January 1st, 2010. There you go. Maybe that will be a round off number. I don't feel like you got to do it right on the first or whatever. No. I'm easing into it. You're easing into it. Yeah. All right. Cold turkey's bad for you. No, actually. No, that's actually how I quit. It shocks the body. That's actually how I quit. Okay. So, Rob. Talk us through this. How will you decide that it's time? When's the moment? Yeah. Mike, when everything's perfect. Yeah. No, I was thinking about it, and I think tomorrow I'm going to wear one of the patches. I'm going to see what I can do. You know what I mean? Yeah. I'm going to throw a patch on and see if... If you can not smoke. Yeah. And, I mean, I only got a couple cigarettes left in this pack, so I'm not going to buy another one. How long have you smoked? Oh, man. I started when I was like 13. Yeah. So... Wow. 13 years? 25. 26. 26. Yeah. He's been smoking for 13 years. Half your life. That's true. He's been smoking half his life. Good math. Thank you. And how much do you smoke a day? A pack and a half. Mm-hmm. Just about. It is. That's a lot. That's a lot. Yeah. I smoked a pack and I thought that was a lot. A pack and a half is a lot. Yeah. And the worst part of it for me was the...
Just sticking that cigarette in my mouth. I know. I got to get... I'll carry around toothpicks with me. Yeah. That's a good idea. Yeah. I've quit like twice before. You know, for like three, four months. Hold the banana in your mouth. Yeah. Why is everybody laughing? I don't know. I'm going to try that. You smart. Great visual. But Eddie, that would be, don't you think that would kind of look weird? You'd be used to it. Yeah, but why don't you tell everybody? No, I'm quitting smoking. Yeah, because if people saw you walk into Vaughn's with a hot dog sticking out of your mouth, at first they'd be like, that's kind of weird. But then you're like, hey, I'm quitting smoking. Yeah. So if you see a guy out in the street, you know, walking around with a hot dog, I'm quitting smoking. Just give me a break. Stop yelling at me. More celebrity resolutions. Kanye West says it's to be nicer to the press. Jamie Foxx says he's looking for the right woman. He may need a magnifying glass, but he's trying to find that rare jewel. Oh, boy.
No. You're a dork. Ashley Simpson gushes on her son to be the best mom ever. Fergie, work out, eat healthier. Yeah, great. Don't eat after midnight. Stop getting water on air. Move out from under the bridge. Stop being on the end of pencils. Why did I? Why did I? I didn't even believe this. I didn't have to pile on. He's great. Gorgeous. Eva Longoria Parker says to give up meat. And then finally, Britney Spears says she would like to stop worrying so much because she worries all the time. She wants to learn how to be happier this year and to stop biting her nails. If you have kids in the car, you may not want to explain this one. That's all I'm going to tell you. But at least I gave you a little warning before we did this. This is a story. Out of Denver. And it is just a... It's just a... What do they call that when it's a bunch of things that just fall into place? A gem. No. A timeline? A series of events? Keep going, Rob. Yeah, it's that... What? He can't think of it? What was the name of that movie that had that in the title? It's an unfortunate series? It's an unfortunate... Lemony Snickets. No, Rob. Yeah.
What this is, what you're about to hear is... A chain of unfortunate events. Well, it's not that. It's not a chain of unfortunate events. It's similar. It's very close to that. It's very close. Falling into place. Okay, you guys. Stop helping, please. Keep helping. We're going to figure this out. You and me are in this lawnmower. It's events that happened that you didn't plan. The old switcheroo. I think I got it. What is it, Ashley? It's the collaboration of events that are crappy. That was it. That old saying. That's that old hackneyed phrase. Yes, I have that on a bumper sticker. This Denver radio station, or TV station, sorry. Denver TV station. It's prime time news. They're biggest anchors, okay? Okay. They're doing the nightly news. And these two stories run back to back that get them giggling. Oh, no. Oh, I love it. Giggle fits. Giggle fits. Dude, and what's crazy is the story, the first story that, well, both stories are serious. Oh, no. Listen, all I'm going to say is tough stories to be a grown up and have to read with a straight face, okay? Okay.
You've got to read this. What are you going to do? It's on the teleprompter. You have to say it. Cut 13. And a naked intruder named Michael Dick is under arrest after barging into an elderly woman's home. The 88-year-old homeowner says at first she wasn't sure what to do when Dick walked right into her sliding glass door and began pushing her around. I thought it was somebody I knew, but then seeing him without clothing, you know it's nobody you know. I kept saying, no, no, no. And then I said, holy mother. And then I said, God. And he stopped. And that's when I reached around and grabbed him. Oh, no. And police say she grabbed him in the testicles because she remembered seeing a story on the news where another woman did the same thing in that situation, and she survived. It worked. It ran away. This is real. Like, this was on the news in Denver in prime time. Prime time. On pause. Another woman did the same thing in that situation, and she survived at work. Dick ran away. He was caught a few minutes later after the homeowner called police. It's not over. It's not over. I'm glad you had to read that story. You guys didn't help me any out here, but I got through it. The CIA has found a way to firm up its relationship with warlords in Afghanistan. The Washington Post says agents are trading Viagra.
key information about terrorists. In one case, they gave a few pills to a 60-year-old warlord with four younger wives. Now, a few days later, he gave agents detailed information about Taliban movements in exchange for more pills. The agents say the pills could put chieftains, quote, back in an authoritative position, unquote. I think they were trying to get us. You can read anything, can't you? No, but they were trying to get us on those last two stories. Happy New Year. Happy New Year. What are you going to do? This is stories. What are you going to do? Dude, I mean, come on. That's so awesome. Come on. That's what they had to deal with. I mean, come on. I defy any of you to try to read those stories with a straight face. 1-800-500-5883. That's 1-800-500-5883. 1-800-500-5883. The Mikey Show continues with Mikey. I consider myself the perfect Mexican. Wow. Eddie. I love Christmas. Sky. My problem admitting when I'm wrong, I'm just rarely wrong. Sean. You know, I'm really terrible at getting gifts. Yes. Boston Rob. Keeping it petite. That's what I'm doing. That sounded hard. And Ashley. I don't get along very well. I don't think with like... Normal, boring people. Oh, come on. Wait a minute. It's the Mikey Show on The Rock. Welcome back. It's the Mikey Show. It is 8.38.
An autopsy is scheduled for today for the 16-year-old son of John Travolta who died Friday in the Bahamas. Brian Westbrook caught a 71-yard touchdown pass to help lead the Eagles to a 26-14 win over Minnesota. Eagles will play their division rival Giants next Sunday. Andy Reid talks about the victory. It's good to get out of here with a victory against a very solid football team. It was quite a battle right here, so we're going to... Get ourselves back here as quickly as we can and get healed up and ready to play next week. Okay. Breath, will you? Well, he was eating a Cornish game head at the time. A whole thing in his mouth. A whole Cornish game head. Hey, Rob, maybe you should try that for your oral fixation. A Cornish game head. There you go. Interesting. So, Sky, where was the lottery ticket sold here in San Diego that got me $46 million? I'll say it. It was sold in Pacific Beach. Rob! Hold on. You are the worst. You're the worst, Rob. Wow. It was... Better not be on the 7-Eleven. It was at the 7-Eleven. Hold on. I got to hear the rest of the story. There better not be a two. On Cass Street. Technically, it's probably yours and you should sue. Yeah, it was a 7-Eleven on Cass Street near Loring.
And it was a Mega Millions ticket. The drawing was Friday night. Mega Millions? It wasn't even the Cal Lottery? Well, California participates in the Mega Millions. No, no, no, I know. But you know how this is separate? There's the California state. There's the Super Lotto, which is just California. And then there's the Mega Millions. Yeah, it means you combine with a bunch of other states to make it even bigger. There's a handful of states. Ah, Rob, that's what you could have won. That is harder to hit. So it was the sole winning ticket in the drawing. No sole as in only one? Yes. So that he doesn't have to share the money with anyone else. $46 million. If it makes you feel any better, it would have only been like $23 million after tax. You don't want that. You don't want that. You don't want that. You can't live on that. So the winning numbers, if you're out there, because as of Saturday night, this person still hadn't come forward. Oh, so they haven't come forward yet. Oh, it is you, Rob. Yeah. So, your Mega Millions ticket. Well, they go on just like... Your word? Yeah. I don't think so. I'm telling you, those are my numbers. Hey, it's me. Right here. I'll even pay you the dollar. So, the Mega Millions numbers from Friday night's drawing. I win. Can you loan me a quarter? The numbers were two. Oh, Rob.
I told you. It's your number. 11, 19. Oh, 19 would have... You wouldn't have gone there? No. Stupid number. You don't do 19. Well, obviously you do here. Morons do. Morons do. 21. Good number. Great number, right, Rob? 34. Beautiful. No. Good one. 33, 34. And then 38. And the mega number was? 38. See? See? How did he know that? Rob, what's the matter with you? Are you joking? Idiot. This is horrible. I know. Hold on. No, no. I'm going to go down there today. Yeah, so lots of people have been going to this PB7-11 ever since it was announced trying to buy their ticket. Because lightning always strikes twice. Yeah. Always. So here's some people in the 7-11 talking about what they would do if they won. Cut 35. Get more than a 12-pack. Get a Learjet.
It's both, that's overrated. Oh, wow. And I just travel the world and get a bunch of people around. Thank you. Have a good time. Thank you. That's from Bombed at the Beach. That's the wrong clip. I would buy a machine, a Slurpee machine of my own if I won the lottery. I'd probably buy a lot of Slurpees because they're really good. I always said I'd buy a Slurpee machine. Heard they're like a couple thousand dollars. My wife and I both feel that's what life is about. Getting back. People would have a Slurpee one month in a row and they'd never want a Slurpee the rest of the night. I don't even like those. I'm wrong. Who are you? I'm not down with slurps. Who are you? They give me that headache, yeah? Well, you drink it too fast. Calm down, guys. I got to get a pamphlet on how to do this? You got to get this sugar-free, Mike. They got sugar-free Slurpees? Yeah, dude. What's my problem? I guess there's a pomegranate one that's supposed to be delicious. Oh, that's disgusting. That's horrific. Pomegranate. Come on. That sounds so good. Pomegranate. Have you ever had pomegranate? Yeah, Mike, they got a new cantaloupe one that's just really delicious. Oh, dude. Pomegranate is like the new cranberry. It's like where it's at. You mean there was cranberry was in at one time? I don't know.
People with bladder infections. And old men. Nursing homes. Deliciousness. There's a lot of good clips in that clip, by the way. Wow. That's a lot of money. Okay. Listen. I don't know. why it's necessary to continue to have Dick Clark on the New Year's Eve. Oh, he's the best. Eddie loves him. No, my boy Dick Clark telling me what's up. Eddie loves him, though. He isn't fair. Every year. He's so special to me. Absolutely. Listen to this. Cut six. No, no. What are they doing to him? Have they had a will? Every young girl down there has been waiting for this for over. Did you, Ryan? You are so right, Nick. Are you kidding me? Let's see that ball drop, huh? I mean, it is unbelievable. Eddie, why are you putting him through that? I'm not putting him through anything. I'm enjoying him.
The only reason I can think they're doing it is because Dick Clark must demand that he still be a part of it. He's a tradition. I do not want to start a new year. Does he? It's in the title. Can they not tell him no? Why would you tell him no? Why would you tell an institution no? Because it's like New Year's at Bernie's, dude. Maybe he doesn't know. What does he not know, Mike? That he sounds that way. Like what? Like what way? Mike, his ears weren't damaged in the stroke. His speech has been affected. It's a little different. I didn't understand. half of what he said. Understanding is overrated. I just got Duran Duran out of that whole thing. I want a t-shirt, by the way, that says understanding is overrated. Oh, me too. I would wear that every day. That is the quote of the day. Oh, that's a beautiful quote. You guys are harsh. How dare you? You just don't appreciate things that are different. Cut five.
It is my pleasure and honor to welcome the man synonymous with New Year's Eve, Mr. Dick Clark. Hey, Dick. Thank you, Ryan, very, very much. Stop doing that to him. It's so warm. It's so warm. Oh, boy. I think he wants to do it. There's no place like Times Square on New Year's Eve. This looks like the best year ever. Nope, I agree. About a million people lined up down Broadway, and we've got cameras everywhere. So you won't miss the pain. It's the biggest party in the world. Don't you dare go away? Come on. There's not. Paint the picture, Dick. Oh, my God. Are you telling me that there's not one producer that goes, Dick, listen. I can't believe you're just jealous because you want to be Seacrest. I did hear Mike say that. And you don't want to. I do not want to. You want more Seacrest, less Dick Clark. I do not want to be Seacrest. What? I would like to be secret. I don't want to. Yes, there it is. Got it. All right. Well, let's hear from someone that is extraordinarily articulate. Okay. Ozzy Osbourne has been in these new cell phone commercials. And so my question for you, Ozzy, is do you even know how to text? Cut 12. I had a bull making an advert. And I'll do it again. I do not know how to text. I can't even speak. People don't get bored.
What? Was that Dick Clark? I don't know if he played the same clip again. I don't know. Ozzy, it's hard to understand Ozzy. Oh, boy. The thing is, it's always been hard to understand Ozzy. He said he didn't text. I think he said he doesn't text. But that's what the commercial is about, is him texting. It might be better for Ozzy to text. Yeah, I would suggest it. It's just all vowels, though. You can't. Yeah, Dick Clark should definitely text him. Why don't we have Dick Clark texting? Boy, have they had a will be. Yeah. I guess every young girl down there has been waiting for this role. Is who, Ryan? You are so right, Dick. How dare you? How dare you? How dare you? Absolutely. It can't do that to him anymore, man. It's time. It's time. Time for what? It's time to just turn it over to Ryan. Let him run it now. Come on. It's bordering on exploitation for crying out loud. America demands to have Dick Clark. No, we do not. We demand for him to rest. Yes, we do. We demand a nap. A nap. You guys are out of it. We're all on board with a nap. Did you see any of... None of it. Dude. Please, I was asleep. They have Kelly Pickler. Yeah.
For some crazy reason. Wait, she's still relevant? Not hosting, not hosting. It was Ryan Seacrest and then Pickler was like the girl on the street. Oh, good. She was so unbelievably unwatchable. I had to turn it off because I couldn't listen to her anymore. Screaming at the top of her lungs and like, you know, they set up people for her to talk to. It was so uncomfortable and awkward and awful. It was the worst. The worst I've ever seen. What do you guys make of what is happening right now in the Gaza Strip? Because this is as bad as it's ever been. What's happening right now is as bad as it's been. It is bad. I know what's going on with the chicken strips, but I don't know. That's very different. I don't know what's going on. It's very different. I prefer ranch. Well, the ranch and the honey mustard are battling it from what I understand. If you take it and you dip it in the ranch and then the honey mustard, it's a real good idea. That's a bad idea. This is why they're fighting. Different story. Please explain to me the other thing you're talking about. Let me explain how this works. There are some folks, some Palestinian folks, that believe that a parcel of land belongs to them.
So they're the ranch. And then there are this other group of people that say, sorry, Charlie, it's ours. And so they disagree on who it belongs to. So they both want it. The honey mustard. I'm with you. One lives in an area called Gaza, and that is the Palestinians. And they had an agreement. We're going to leave each other alone. And then the Palestinians decided, well. We change our minds. We're going to fire rockets into civilian areas in Israel. So they did. In fact, here's what Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan says about his friends, the Israelis. Cut 17. To the Israeli army, your incursion in Gaza will not be a picnic. And we promise you that Gaza will be your cemetery, God willing. That is not a positive message. Friends in 09? That is not their motto. I don't think that's their motto. I don't think that's their motto.
But there were apparently a bunch of protests over here in San Diego, right, Skye? Yeah, there were two separate protests. The most recent one was yesterday at Balboa Park. About 150 people gathered to protest. 100 of them were in support of the Palestinians. 50 of them were there to support Israel. And there was about 12 police brought out to the event. But there was no violence, no arrests made. Honestly, I would honestly like to ask anybody that was there protesting on behalf of... The Palestinians. And listen, what am I? I'm a normal dude. I'm just an average Joe. What do I know? But what do you see? Israel has this very advanced army. You know, they're kind of like us and we back Israel. And so when they fired rockets into Israel, Israel responded with nonstop bombings of Gaza. And so what you're seeing on TV is, you know, people injured and being and I'm sitting there watching it. And I'm saying to myself, the Israelis are defending themselves and they're reacting to what happened. So as a Palestinian, how do you go? They're in the wrong. How dare them? Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, well, both the Middle East and Europe is condemning Israel for their forces entering Gaza.
And the U.S. is maintaining support of Israel saying, you know, no, they're in there now. They're in there now. No, but yeah, the U.S. is saying what you're saying. Like, hey, they were attacked first, you know, but Europe and the Middle East are saying, hey, too many Palestinian civilians are dying here. You know, get out of there. It's crazy. It's crazy. I get it. That's like this. That's like this. I throw a rock at your house. Right. flies into your house and it like, you know, does damage. And what it was intended to do was kill you. It was intended to kill you. And I react to that and I got a pretty big army. And you know it. You knew that before you threw the rock in there. So I blow up you and your car and everything else. I bring, effectively, I bring a tank to a slingshot fight. There's one way to not have any tanks brought. Don't throw rockets into Israel.
What are you throwing rockets into Israel? I don't understand. Now, like I said, 570-1053, I'm willing to hear from anybody that's a Palestinian going, how dare them. Hey, listen, I don't have a dog in this fight. You think that's your land? They think it's their land? I don't got a dog in it. All I know is you threw rockets into Israel and they punched you in the face. It won't happen again. Don't throw rockets into Israel. I don't, but I don't understand it, honestly. 570-1053 is the phone number or text number, 35253. If you missed it, Eddie's going to be a dad. Oh, hey, whoa. The Mikey Show is on. Back to the Mikey Show on The Rock. Rock 105.3. What the heck? No one is here. The only people in these studios, Rob, myself, and Seth. Everyone else, MIA. Sean is freaking out right now. Oh, man. Hey, welcome back. Hey, Eddie. Welcome back. Oh, and Boner. Give it a minute before I give a time check because Eddie's just walking in. All right. Yeah. Yeah, we are back on the air. The Rob Show. I've taken over. All right. It is 9 in the a.m. For the second weekend in a row, Marley and Me was the number one movie at the box office, making just over $24 million. I'm not really prepared. I would like to play a clip here. I'll tell Sean. He'll play it for me when you're ready. It seems very unprofessional. It's a little unprofessional. That's how we roll. Well, Sean, I'll use cut 36 here. All right.
It's the Chargers. They beat the Colts in overtime, 23-17. They're going to take on Pittsburgh next Sunday. Jamal Williams calls game over after the coin flip in overtime. I didn't know that. I didn't hear it when the coin got flipped. Did everybody on the show watch the game? All of us did. I thought that was a really good game, man. It really was one for the ages. So good. Awesome. And not what I expected. I really thought that one way or another, one team would blow out the other. So I thought it was great when it was so close. I thought that the instant replays made it exciting. Yeah, and actually the call is going our way for once. Yeah, I was going to ask you about that. So were there more like, I don't know if I'm using the right terms, were there more like fouls than normal? Foul.
What does she mean by that? What does she mean? Was there more penalties than normal? Were the refs just being tougher? Or is that always how it is? They were talking about it on the broadcast. That crew, they called the most penalties during the season than any other crew in football. What crew? What? The referees. Oh, okay. The referees. Am I speaking? Well, I don't know who the crew is. I don't know. Well, it's not two live crew. It's not. It's not. Okay. I don't know. I thought it was the foul crew. That's right. I don't know. The foulies. He meant like the deep end. I don't know. James Hetfield talking about who will induct Metallica into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Cut 33. It's tough. We haven't really hit the ultimate person who we'd like to have do it. It's like you want someone who actually you've inspired, and you want someone who's charismatic, who can tell their story. But also you kind of want someone that people actually know who they are. I was thinking, well, why don't we just get the Uber fan, go up there and induct us. How cool would that be? Yeah, but James, why don't you tell them? What the heck? Hey, James, it's my phone interview. I'm in the middle of an interview right now, Lars.
How are you even... Well, I just know that everything that has to do with Palica, I have to always talk about. I'm being interviewed, though. Yeah, I'm on the phone, man. I know, but you're always being interviewed. They're actually talking to me, and I'd like to answer the question. One time, can we let him answer? Yeah, but you know what I was thinking about? Who's going to induct us, man? I mean, James is the front man. I'm standing right here, right? Since I'm on the phone already, why don't I just talk about it? No, I'm not. Don't worry, dude. I'll just come into the studio. No, please don't. Hey, what's up, man? It's Lars from Pat. Where did he come from? That was so fast. It's the first time we've heard a clip that it isn't Lars. No kidding. It's from Metallica. Bye, Lars. Bye. Let's see. Did we get any calls from any Palestinians? No.
a bunch of, a lot of real information heavy type of, I know everything about the subject type of stuff. Nothing where it's like Palestinian or anything like that. Mm-hmm. 5701053 is our phone number. I mean, it would have been interesting to hear those. No, no. Just, hey, hey. Hey, friends in 09. I'm not saying anything. Okay. That was an 08 rule. Oh, no. Oh, crap. I think it might be enemies in 09. Oh, no. Although I hope not. Uh, Let's see. Sky, what stars brought in the most money to the box office in 2008? Oh, here we go. Let's do this. Phil Bellamy. Keith Ledger. Kim Fields. What? No, Heath Ledger. I'm sorry. Ahmad Rashad. Ahmad Rashad for sure. A good one. No, Heath Ledger? Yeah, didn't he bring in more money than anybody? Will Smith.
Well, I mean, I don't know. I guess when they're talking about a movie, they're talking about the star of the movie. So it wouldn't be Heath Ledger if you're talking about that specific movie. Kirk Cameron. Yep. Fireproof. Look it up. Okay. Gary Schoenwetter. Christian Slater. No, it wasn't Christian Slater, Ashley. You're close. I don't know why Sandra Oh got me, but Sandra Oh got me. Christian Slater. No. Are you looking these up? Christian Slater or Ashley was not the lead in Batman, no. Christian Slater. She's halfway there. Christian Bale. Christian Bale. That's who she was. Marilyn McHugh. Number three is Christian Bale. I like the same. Marilyn Manson. Marilu Henner. No. Yeah, Will Smith. Will Smith is number one, Ashley. Oh. I said Will Smith. No, you didn't. Yes, I did. No, you didn't.
Yes, he did. He never did. You said Carlton. Carlton. Nice. Who's number two? Number two? Yep. Number two. Leave the door open. That was 08. That makes perfect sense. Number one, close it. One of your favorite movies of the year. Yes, that would be... The adventures of Mr. Grape. Benjamin Bratt. Robert Downey Jr. Yes, Ashley. Yes, Ashley. Robert Downey Jr., number two. That's what I said. You didn't say that. You said that, right? You said it. You're so closed off. Angelina Jolie. Angelina Jolie, number nine. How about... Stoney Parker. Parker Posey. Peter Parker. Peter Dinklage. Fred Willard. Yeah. Yeah, totally Fred Willard. Willard Scott. Wilfred Brimley. Who's number three? And that'll spur number four. Danny DeVito. Christian Slater was number three, remember? What's number four? That'll spur number five. Number four, Shia LaBeouf. Oh. Shia LaBeouf.
Yeah, saw that eagle eye yesterday. I saw it too. Oh, yeah, I saw that too, man. So did I. Yeah. It was awesome. Very like another movie I saw. Eddie. Yeah. No. So good. No. Sean writes. Oh, no. Come on. What? Went to see The Day the Earth Stood Still. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Great movie. Great movie. You saw it and said it was terrible. Eddie, it's one of the worst films I've ever seen. It actually isn't. Didn't you say it makes Independence Day look good? Ashley, it's terrible. It's awful. Keanu Reeves tour de force. What do you mean? Your planet. Very believable. Chills, by the way. How dare you? He said that when he was at the movie theater in the Bay Area watching this movie, he got recognized by P1s. Nuh-uh. What? Yeah. How crazy is that? It was so weird. Oak Ridge. Were you mean to him? No, I was not. Did you salt their milk? That's a legitimate question. It is. Sean, when they were holding a cup of milk. Shut up, Sean. A chalice of milk. Yeah, when they came up to you holding a chalice of milk. A saucer of milk.
Did you salt and mint it? Yes. Just say yes. Legitimate. Did you vacuum their drapes? If they would have let me. Wow, Sean. Stockard Channing. Okay. Stop it. How many did we not get? Carroll Channing. Oh, Bill Macy. Five. Oh, yeah. Bill Macy. Bill Macy. No. Not William H. Macy. Bill Macy. Really? Really? I got it. Who do you think you might like that? Bill Shatner. You're missing five. You are. You're missing five. You're missing all of them. What? Ed Norton. Yeah. No. Reese Witherspoon. Reese Witherspoon is number seven. What is she in? What does she do? She's in the movie Reese Witherspoon.
It's still in there. Samuel L. Jackson. Harrison Ford? Harrison Ford, number five. I guessed that. Oh, I'm sorry. Ashley said that. I did. Whatever. Quit stealing my lines. What about Eric Wareheim? Oh, yeah. Eric Stoltz. Tim Heidecker. What about Tim Heidecker? Is Tim Heidecker or Eric Wareheim on the list? No. What about Handsome Joe Cunningham? Oh, wow. She wasn't in any. Oh, yeah, she was. She was in Marley. P1 Peaches. Yeah, is P1 Peaches in there? Why would she be there? Because of her movie. She was in that movie, Peaches Be Gone. Peaches be gone. First thing, first, the best, literally, the best I could do. Under the circumstances. Gone, peaches be gone. I thought it was dark, peaches dark. Indiana Jones and Temple of the Peaches Skull. Wasn't in there? Fine.
Who else did we miss? Number six, Adam Sandler. What was he in? That 9-11 tour de force? Yes. I hate Adam Sandler. You hate Adam Sandler. I do. They suck. They do. They suck. What about Happy Gilmore? What about Billy Madison? How long ago was Billy Madison? What about the water boy? Thank you. Big Daddy? Yes. Big Daddy made me laugh, actually. That's funny. You guys are losers. Whoa! All right, number eight, George Clooney. I don't like Jim Carrey. I'm over Jim Carrey. Yeah, I'm way over him. Not me, dude. That guy's awesome. Yeah, he is. I agree. He's very good. You like the worst movies ever made. That's not true. You have bad taste. You have bad movie taste. Take it back. Dude, that day the earth stood still was a turd. Take it back. Okay. Number eight, George Clooney. Oh, you know what else I saw? Valkyrie. Oh, did you? I saw it. Oh, yeah. Here was my issue. Here was my issue. Talk about it. So you know what's going to happen before you go, but I'm thinking to myself, eh, it's fine. They'll make something. But I just kept thinking to myself, I know what's going to happen. I know what's going to happen. Like every time I try to get built up about the story, I'm like, well, I know what's going to happen. I know. And I thought somehow I'd be taken out of that. Oh, wow.
See, I thought it was done, like the pace of the movie was awesome, I thought. You know what else I didn't like, Eddie? The accent thing? Yes. It's distracting. Oh, wow. It's really distracting. Well, the German dudes speak with British accents. Yeah. And Tom Cruise talks like Tom Cruise. Yeah. It's like I'm watching Cocktail in Germany. That's how it was in Germany. That's very judgmental. How dare you. I liked it, but that was distracting. Hey, did you see The Curious Case of Benny Button? Yep, I sure did. Old Benji. Did you like it? I loved it, although it was three hours long. Oh, man. That's what I heard. It was a long time. But good, right? But really, really good movie. My wife and my mom bawled their eyes out. The girl, there was a lady sitting next to me, and she was... hysterical. And I looked at her and I was staring at her and I'm like, really? Like that much? Like it's not that bad. I mean, come on. That's awesome. This is crazy. Did you slap her and say you can act like a man? Yeah, I did. You can act like a man. She deserved it. I want to see it. I want to see it. At first I thought, it's really good and it's amazing the effects they do are crazy. Like how they make.
Brad Pitt and Kate Blanchett. What I thought was really cool is how they make him look like he did 15 years ago. Dude, it is creepy. How do they do that? I have no idea. You can make people look old, but to make them look young, I don't know how they did it. He looks like he looked in Thelma and Louise. That's trippy, dude. It's weird. How do they do that? No talks, bro. No. I don't think it. Maybe they gave him a little Botox right before they said, you know, action. Squirt, squirt. Look at him. Guy's 19 now. Perfect. Perfect. Take another one. Did you give them all, Sky? Finally, number 10. My side. Daniel Craig. Sean, you have... Odd movie. Wouldn't you love to see Sean's collection? Like, I don't even know what's in his actual collection. I'll print it out. Dude, it's got to be some trippy stuff. Eddie, percentage of Sean's movies you've never heard of. How many do you have, Sean? I've got several hundred. Out of several hundred, percentage you've never heard of? 35%. Oh, I bet you're probably dead on. I bet you're dead on.
Eddie's going to be a dad. Oh, hey. We announced it earlier. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. When we come back, why don't we... Man, I almost want to keep you guessing. The Obama family arrived in Washington this weekend. They'll be staying in a hotel there so the girls can start their new school. On Saturday, Arizona was able to beat the Falcons 30-24 to win their first playoff game since 1998. They will pick Carolina on Saturday. Kurt Warner talks about their victory. It was just a tremendous team win today. Like I said... It seemed like whenever we needed a big play, we made it. And, you know, whatever it was, running game, passing game, defense, special teams, wherever it was, we made a big play when we needed to. And that's what playoffs are all about. How about that? Arizona, who knew? Arizona's advancing in the playoffs. Freaking good, dude. Ashley really likes one of those. Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, she really likes. Fucking number 11, dude. Larry Fitzgerald. See that 42-yard touchdown catch that he did? That was pretty spectacular. It was crazy. It's like there's 20 guys there going to catch the ball, and who comes up out of everybody, out of the pack of men, but two hands, and he catches it. Did you see when they were showing him catching one-handed passes with Kurt?
What's his name? Kurt Russell. Kurt Russell, the quarterback. Kurt Warner. Did you see that when they were showing? Before the game, he's warming up with Kurt Warner, and he's throwing him past. He'd catch him with one hand. leave it. He's a miracle. That's right. He's a miracle. What does that mean? He's a miracle. He's a miracle. You know what I mean? He does things that are miraculous. It's not brain science. Same brain trials over here. I'll pass on all this. I'll pass on you. You don't mean that. I know I don't. Before we went to break, I said that when we came back, I was going to be telling you about something. Hold it back up, guys. Oh, sorry. I thought when I held it up before and he gave me the thumbs up like two minutes ago. I was waiting for it. That was good. Can't she just put it up? I thought that's when he remembered it. Oh, okay. Now he's got it, guys. He's got it. He gave me the hand signal so then now you can put it down. Keep it up. Keep it up.
One more time. It's upside down. And now he's good. Eddie's wrapping me up. The best and worst rock bands for giving autographs. Okay. Talk me through it. Paul from Peter, Paul, and Mary. Definitely. He's such a jerk about it. So we're doing the worst list. And we'll do the best. You are the worst. I vote you as the worst. Yes. Sky will not give autographs. No. Especially if she has a lots of house. Nobody talks like that. She needs her shopping. Nobody. Whatever. There's only two places I don't give them. Shut your mouth. Target and Honey Bake. But any place else. I'll give Costco. Do that. I'll give a Costco graph. I'll give a... B-Y-O-S. Yes, that's right. I'll give a Chick-fil-A-F. Hilarious. Occasionally, a Burger Kegaf. Lots changed in 09, huh? Great. Okay, let's start with... Maynard.
The worst, yeah. Maynard is number one for the worst, right? That's a great call, but not on the list. He's not on the list. Casey and the Sunshine Band. Ringo Starr. Hey, Space Boy's got a great story about somebody that was not good. Let's see if he's on the list. Who was your Space Boy? Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins. What's the story? Now, the band is actually really good about giving autographs, but I've been... Well, let me first start by saying that the name Space Boy is from a Smashing Pumpkins song. I'm a very, very, very big Smashing Pumpkins fan. Which is the worst when you're a big fan and they're not cool is the worst. Oh, man. But these guys inspired me to start playing guitar. And I have been hunting these guys for years to sign my first guitar. I was able to get all the members except the lead singer. Well, then why didn't you say personalize it? Put my name on it.
not having, you know, if he does it for one person, he'll have to do it for everybody. So he just doesn't want to do it. Tell him you bought a CD and you made him rich. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. But, you know, whatever. So, um. Sucks. I hate him. Yeah, I'm out. I hate him too. Yeah, they're the worst. We knew somebody else who had a bad experience with him. It was Woody. Woody that used to do the afternoon show here. Oh. He had a terrible experience with him. In fact, they used to play the clip of it for years. Like interviewing him? Yeah. Ooh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not like you're going to put your kids through college off a guitar from him. So what happened, Spaceboy? Well, you know, in the end, I was able to get a backstage pass to his solo show about three or four years ago. And again, brought my guitar with me. I was guaranteed an autograph as for what the pass said. And I showed it to him and he said, dude, I'm still not going to sign your guitar. And I'm like, I got everybody else except you. You know, what's this guitar good for me for if I only got everybody else except the lead guy? So I left the venue brokenhearted, and my wife said, you know what? Screw this. I'm tired of this. Now it's time to start getting dirty. So what happened was we took the pick guard off of the guitar, and we framed it, and we put a mat around it, and we made it all nice and pretty. We put a picture of me and him in the middle. And so, look, the next time that I saw him, I would have him sign that.
Really? Why do you want it at that point? I mean, he seems like a jerk. Yeah, at that point, you hadn't lost all of your admiration for him? I was this close. Yeah. I was this close. So then what happened was, I went to a show about a month ago, and again, I was able to get to a meet and greet, and he signed it, and that was it. So now it's over, it's done with. And I can stop thinking about it. I'm all the way backing on the band, backing on him. Everything's fine. There it is. Now if you can only get Daniel Radcliffe. That's right. What would you do for Daniel Radcliffe, Space Boy? I'm actually going to New York. I'm going to go see his Equus play where he's doing the new scene with the horse. When Sean says, oh, dear, you know it's bad. It's bad when Sean says, oh, dear. Oh, I love Space Boy. All right, Space Boy. Thanks, Ben. Therapy, bro. All right, we'll see you. No, the Smashing Pumpkins are not on the list. Daughtry. Daughtry. Oh, yeah. Daughtry. Yeah. Yeah. I hate that guy. Scott, just say yes. Yeah, these are all kind of older bands. Oh, they are? Yeah. Like classic rock? Yeah. Dropkick Murphys.
They're not old. We've got a classic rock person calling in right now. Said she had a hard time with one of them. P1 Holly. Hi, good morning. Good morning. Hi, we were at Def Leppard and Journey a few years back. So was I. I was there. Oh, you were? Oh, yeah, I saw that tour. Yeah, and we were lucky enough to get backstage. A friend of ours works for Taylor Guitars. And Neil Sean came walking up from Journey. And my brother is a huge Journey fan. And I had asked him, I said, hi, can I get a picture of you? And he was such a jerk to me. It was embarrassing. Really? Oh, yeah. I was so embarrassed that I even asked him. Because it was like I asked him for a million dollars. Is Journey or Neil Sean on there, Sky? No. No? But they should be, those meanies. I have a funny... You know who's really nice? Who? Tommy Shaw. Oh, yeah, from Styx and from Damn Yankees. Yeah, she let us take a picture of him. Hey, I got a funny Neil Sean story for you. So we went to me, Eddie, and a bunch of friends in Dallas. We went to a Journey concert. Do you remember that? Yeah, frankly. It was at that amphitheater. I was a little drunk. What? Still toasty. You? It was at that amphitheater. Yeah. What's that place called?
I remember the bar thing. It was the Smirnoff Amphitheater. Was it? Yeah, yeah. Only in Dallas. I know. I'm drunk. And so we go see Journey and, you know, with the radio, because we're on the radio, they were doing a meet and greet afterwards and they're all sitting at a table. They're all sitting at a table giving signatures, right? Yeah. And so if Neil Sean is already stood in line. Now, if Neil Sean is a type that doesn't like to give autographs, I made him want to kill me. Because here was the situation. At the time, I was dating Rebecca. We weren't married yet. We were dating. It was a very tumultuous relationship. We would break up, get back together, break up, get back together. And on this particular time, she had broke up with me. And they give it five minutes and I do the same thing. And we would do this back and forth. Right. Well, this time she broke up and she was serious. Like she wasn't getting back together with me. And I was really upset. And we're at this journey concert and my cell phone rings and it's Rebecca. And I'm like right in line. And so I'm not going to I'm not going to not get out of line. And so I answer the phone and I'm like, I'm talking to Rebecca. Right.
In my hand, I got a journey. They gave you journey placards. It's a picture of journey and they sign it. I come up in front of Neil Sean. I'm on the phone with Rebecca and I just hand the thing. I just slap it down in front of him and sign that. He just looks at me like, you're not even going to say it. I guess you want me to sign this? You too busy? What's going on? Hey, Kios, why don't you get off the phone and do that, okay? Do you have some respect? Hey, bro. All right, that's Neil Sean, okay? You're making the eagle look terrible. The eagle set this up for you, bro. Yeah, bro, okay? Come on. Get off the telephone. Yeah, dude, Max Dugan had to pull some strings, all right, bro? Come on. Get off your mobile, bro. Sky, who else? Okay, well, the best ones, they say, are ACDC. Oh, did we do all the worst? Well, we didn't do any of them. We didn't do any? No. Let's do worst first. All right. What should we do? Worst or best? What's more glamorous? Yes. All right, let's do worst. Okay. The worst are Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi, and The Eagles. Really? Yeah. They're like the coolest bands. Do you think that in every one of those cases, it's about they don't want it to get sold?
That's so weird. Why? Like, what's the big deal? Who cares? Who cares anyway? People buy your CD made you millionaires. Okay, Rob. Calm down. We're iTunes in your songs. He's kind of a hothead. Yeah. A little bit. We're the ones iTunes in your songs. iTunes in your songs. Yeah. Hey, if I wasn't iTunes and you, where would you be? It's Paul House, buddy. That's what you do. Yeah, you'd be in the can. Who's the best? The best, they say. iTunes, you later. Our ACDC. Coldplay and the Guess Who. I don't believe that. The Guess Who. Oh, the Guess Who. Oh, good. They did make a list. Oh, good. I love the Guess Who. Oh, that's great. What about Deep Purple? Yeah. What about Alan Parsons? I heard Foghat is great. It's Mikey. I missed it. I just woke up. That's P1 Sean. Oh, you can't believe it. The announcement is? Eddie's going to be a dad. Yeah. That's right. Eddie's going to be a daddy. Eddie, the babies do when? In July. In July. Yep. Let me know.
Nice and warm. Christmas and summer. Let's see. Mikey, does anybody know if Dick Clark can read the news? That's ridiculous. What's hampooning? If you read Between the Lines. That's P1, what's hampooning? If you read Between the Lines. Truly brilliant, but I mean, come on. Mikey, thank goodness you guys are back. You're all my Prozac, and I was going through withdrawal. That's P1, why now? Thank you, why now? You're a good whino. What if we did this? Dropping the ball in 09. Slogan is dropping the ball in 09. Thank you. Thank you, Rob. He dropped the ball. He just spilled Coke all over me. Rob. He just spilled Coke all over me. He's just representing. Open Coke through it right here on the side. Why is he yelling at you? I know. Right after he spilled it all over me. He's like, what's your problem? I don't have any napkins, Eddie. Yes, Rob. That's Kleenex. Sob that up. Anyone have a ShamWow? He's using Kleenex right now. Come on. Wait, that, Eddie, that's opposite. That doesn't help.
You don't need a wet nap. You just hit Rob in the head with a wet nap. That is weird. Well, anyway. Bob. You are so stupid. You're a mess. He's laughing. You know how that wouldn't happen? If we had had. He didn't leave it open right there. He had to drop the ball. You know what trivia had already been printed out? You know. Like we do every Monday. It's so funny. I go, let's do P1 trivia. And you see him like the lights aren't on yet. And then all of a sudden in his eyes, he's like four seconds later like, oh, I got to print that. It's a little delay. Oh, it's my job now? It's a little delay. Well, you know. We'll just wait. At least the studio will smell better. What? There's a bright side. Yeah. There's always. There's a bright side to everything, right? You don't think so? He's my favorite. Dude. It was just. Right there. By the way, Quimby cleaned the board. It's spotless. Yeah. It's spotless. Nice. Oh, yeah. That's what the people are calling for. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry about Robby. My leg is soaking wet.
Well, that'll be fun for you to sit around and eat some stuff. At least your leg will smell better. Yeah, Mike, look on the bright side. At least stuff will stick to it, so that's cool. Money. Sorry, I forgot to print out the... Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Check email. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, well. Oh, I'll take it. You're a clown. You are truly a clown. 5701053. Man, I thought things would be different. Sadly, I didn't. You call us and what we do is we ask you trivia questions about the Mikey show. The winner gets to come into the studio on Friday. You get a backstage pass, catered breakfast. It's really cool. So 5701053 is the number. Mikey, I had no idea that iTunes was a verb. What else do you do? A-Rob just taught me something new. I will be iTunes-ing the podcast of today's show later. P1 Welder Boy. Let's see. Mikey, almost no artist makes anything from album sales. Most of that money goes to the evil record companies. It's P1 Vice Group. Poor rock stars, man. Someday they'll make some money. We should do like a charity for them.
You know how Britney Spears has to work as a barista. That's right. No insurance. Elvis makes no money even though he's already dead. It must all come from the touries. All those Elvis tours. P1 Scotty. Hello, Scotty. How are you doing? Pretty good. Scotty, how old are you? I'm 32. And how long have you been listening? About three years. All right. It sounds like I am dyslexic. Uh-oh. What are you doing over there? Okay. I got it. Okay. All right. And let's see who you're going to be competing against. It's P1. I can read the news. Hi, P1. I can read the news. You're hired. Not welcome here. What do you mean? Oh, man. P1. I can read the news. How old are you? I'm 28. I'm really cheering for you. How long have you been listening?
Oh, about four years. All right. Oh, you're the best. Awesome! You got a year on Scotty, so let's give this thing a shot. Scotty, we start with you. All right, I'll have a two-pointer. You want a two-point question. All right, the first person to get the five points wins, there's ones, twos, and threes. Your two-point question is, where was the Mikey Show going for their next broadcast outside the station? What's the last place we did a remote broadcast? Vegas. Where? Vegas. That is correct. Hey-oh! Hi-oh! Scotty's got two points, ladies and gentlemen. Well done. P1, I can read the news. Oh, come on. Shut up. What? I'm just excited. Give me a two-pointer. You want a two-pointer? Yes. Your two-point question is, what is Eddie's wife's name? Oh, the Cheds. Debra. That is correct. Oh, you are so awesome. Wow, she's good. Yeah. She's good. What a voice. Well, I mean, we said it like an hour ago. P1, Scotty. Yes, yes. What do you want? A one, two, or three-point question? Three wraps it up. Don't do that. I'm going to have to go with the Kumike. You want a two? Maybe one. Eddie. How much money did we have to raise to shave a Yankees logo on Boston Rob's head? $500. That is incorrect. We had to raise $1,000. We had to raise $1,000. P1, I can read the news. Go for it. Take a three-pointer. Eddie. What? Chill out, bro. I'll go for it, Eddie.
Good job. Wow, look at you. How do you feel about lists? Your three-point question is, what kind of dog does Ashley have? Oh, I love her. Ashley has a puggle. You are good. Birthday on Christmas. Oh, how was it? It was great. Great. Anyway, how do you feel about new releases? Did you know that Pineapple Express is coming out? Okay, Eddie. Dude, you know she would have wanted to give that one. I'm telling the P1 winner. I don't know why that's... But you're stealing her thunder. You took it before she did. I bet you she's not mad. No, I'm so excited. See? I always try to call, but I can never... You are awesome. You are the best. Hey, listen. Scotty, you can come in, too. Oh, sweet. Oh, my goodness. You both hang on the line. All right. You two lovebirds. What? Wait. I don't know.
They just fell in love. They didn't even talk to each other. They're engaged. I heard that they're engaged to get married. They're very intimate. That's what I heard. Can we do anything in the world? You may. You are cute. I'm really on one. 570-1053 is our phone number. If you want to call, we'd love to hear from you. Here's some of the big stories that are floating out there in your world today. Tom Cruise says that Scientology helped him get over his dyslexia. There you go, Mike. Yep, Mike, you should look into that. You can do it. Yeah, I have it with numbers. For sure, I have it. I always get numbers mixed up. Oh, yeah. Somebody tells me, you know, write this down, and I'm writing something down, and they say 54, I put four or five. It's a thing with numbers. I always get them backwards.
Yeah. Well, Tom Cruise says he was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven. How ironic. That was irony. That was actual irony. No, it wasn't. It was because when you said dyslexia, it was backwards. I was not backwards. It wasn't backwards. If it was backwards, then that would have been irony. It was like a dyslexia is what you said. We got some irony up in here. See, even you think so. He said that nobody gave him a solution to his problem. That's when he knew the system had failed him. He said finally, as an adult, he learned to read perfectly through the method of L. Ron Hubbard. That's right. So Scientology did cure him. When you have an eye patch, it's hard to read. That's right. I don't know what happened, but Tom Cruise apparently lost an eye. Yeah. Well, he was a big bomb. Oh. Did you watch the movie? Yeah. Oh, it was... Yeah. That movie's a documentary, you guys. I thought that that was... I haven't heard it. Do they cover the Katie Holmes falling in love? Yes. Yes, they do. Was that before or after the I? I think it was right before. Duh. But I don't know. Don't you follow the tabloids? That's right. Let's see.
Bill Parcells is going to stay with the Dolphins. I don't know any of this. Which is a trip because Eddie isn't, like, if he wanted to, he could just walk, couldn't he? Yeah, he has a one-year out clause that if he wanted to, he could bail after the one-year. Does he see Crash have that? Real quick. What? The one-year out clause? I have the one-year Santa clause. He's got a 33-year out clause. Yes. Yes. But no, he's staying put. He's going to remain with the Dolphins. I think he's good at what he does. Look at what happened. Yeah. They won one game last year, and then they won the division the next year. Eddie, do you think that Bill Cowher is going to coach? No. He already said he isn't. He said no? No. He's done for 2009, or he's not going to coach for 2009, and then we'll see what happens in 2010, which I predict he'll be the Dallas Cowboys head coach. No way. Yes. Do you think really? My prediction. Oh, my gosh. I don't want him to coach there. That would suck. Because I like him. I hate the Cowboys. And I'd like to see him coach the Chargers, personally. Oh. What do you mean? Oh, mama. Come on. Come on. Don't do it. Stop it. Is Eddie back in love? Don't you dare. I was never out of love. Stop it. This is the guy who was making fun, not me, man. You said finally you thought it was time. Oh, you're crazy. He said that. Pull the tape. I never said that. Oh, yes, pull the tape. If we're going to criticize Nor for 4-8, we've got to give him credit for turning it around and getting the team back in the playoffs.
Winning a playoff game? You know how many coaches don't do that? All right. Fine. Norv is the best. No, he isn't. I'll give him credit because you're right. You got to give credit where credit's due. I am on the ship. Stop it. Norv Turner. He's leading us to the Zuber Bowl. This was Norv's inspirational speech right before they went on to the field. Hey, guys, I just want to let you know that the Browns crew is upset that we're leaving our Gatorade cups laying around. Why is your lip quivering? Well, good luck out there. Inspirational. Good luck. Okay. I'm pumped up.
Turn in your time cards. Time cards? Yeah, they punch in and punch out, right? They do. I think so. Oh, I didn't know. Most of them are paid hourly. Oh. Well, Mike, he might not be your favorite style of coach, but the guy is really getting it done. How dare you? He took us to the NCAA championship game last year, and now we beat the Indianapolis Colts, and we're going to win there. Oh, man. And then, what up? We were eight. Eight and eight. We won the division. We won the division. We won the division. Cut 37. Get ready to get fired up. We just need to get ourselves ready and understand that this is a start for us, and we're a good team, and we're playing our best at the right time, and we're going to be in a game like this next week, whoever we play, so we've got to get ready for it. You know it. They're going to sign him through 2027. Well, hey, if Norv Turner. Don't. You're just trying to get my... I won't finish. Don't be like that. How dare you? If North Turner, if he leads this football team to the Super Bowl and wins the San Diego, the city of San Diego is their first championship, he's going to be the head coach forever. This is what will happen.
It's crazy. They would have to fire A.J. Smith in order for him to be fired at that point. He's so good. Get in. So get in. Gosh. Wow. Better than Belichick. That's a joke. He's not in the playoffs. They're not in the playoffs. You're right. We're not. Our banged up squad isn't. Thank you. I'll take North Turner any day. Stop it. You're so weird. Why? Because I support? That's right. Today you support. Yeah, every day. Thank you, Sky. Whatever. Sky went to the auto show. I couldn't believe it. That's ridiculous. She went to the auto show. The boo went to the auto show. Yeah, the green machines. Is that what went down? There was a green section. You were down. I was down to see, yeah. I took a picture in a smart car. Did you? The irony, huh? You should send it.

It's a lot of 09s. Did you just see... No, you missed a good part, though. Richard Simmons is on... Look at the hats. Was that a diaper? Richard Simmons is on the Today Show. And he just did the splits into the camera. Did he sit and go... And, you know, I don't know if he... Does he have worms? Oh, gosh.
Roll Cassie Lee and Hoda. Cassie Lee and Hoda. Here it goes. Don't pause. You know he has to. I have to pause. I beg you. I have to. First of all, first of all, Richard Simmons has become like a 58-year-old lady. Oh, man. Look at this. What? I saw ball. I saw ball. Nuh-uh. Look at the camera cut away. That's so funny. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my stomach hurts. Oh, my. Oh, good time. Well, welcome back. Our phone number here is 570-1053. He's terrific. Or Richard Simmons in 09. That's what I say. He makes me laugh. Gay is funny. Yeah. Well, his type is that type of gay.
It's hysterical. Put it this way, that anybody that took some video of us that day at Alabama Jacks, thank you for not... How do you not laugh at... Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, Richard. Oh, hi. You're so teeny. Was it you? Oh, Richard, you have to pay attention. Richard, hello. Excuse us. We're doing a show over here. We're not as funny as you are, but hello. His character, like his person, you know what I mean? Like, what is it? It's so unique. It is, dude. Very much. It's so unique. Like, there really is nothing like the Richard Simmons persona. Weird. You know, it's like. One of a kind. What is it? Describe it. What is it? Sky, you describe. What is Richard Simmons persona? He is like an outgoing toddler.
He's obliviously gay. He's obliviously gay. Obliviously gay toddler. Yes. Are you gay? Our New Year's like this, I come back and they go, Richard's on. I go, he goes, so what did you think of my new video? I said, I'm sure it's fabulous, but I haven't seen it, all right? I just got back last night. I thought that was a personal conversation, but now everything is just like TMZ here. Fine. Can't say one word to her. She's got to blab it on. Fine. Hi, and welcome to the Today Show. I'm holding a copy of a new haircut. He's wearing a blue sequined. Yes. Bedazzled. It's very bedazzled. Yes. He's wearing a blue sequined muscle shirt with a silver peace sign sequined into it. Obviously. Well done. Please. Please. From Ashley's yesterday email. Oh, gosh. Get ready for warm peace over here. My friend Ryan made me dinner, and we watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Hilarious. That's a great movie. That's pretty funny. Yeah. Liked it. Who's Ryan? This is my friend. What's up? Oh, hello. You got something to say? Okay. I'm just asking. I don't know. I've already written and asked her that. She won't respond. What's the deal? You have not? I have. What? Let's talk about it. Face space inbox. Oh, I didn't know that existed.
Wow. I swear. Are you serious? Yes. I got to check that. She has like 800 messages. Right. I figured Mike would probably ask me that. Yeah, and I'm waiting for an answer. Well, he's the hottest guy in the office. That is true. That's true. Is that why? Is that why? Because Ryan's the hottest guy in the office. Doesn't hurt. For snackies, she had water in a bag of homemade snails. Oh, this was for my drive. Snails? Snails. What is that? Snails. Snails are, well, what we do, Mike, is growing up, you know, we'd make the homemade pies for dessert because we'd bake every night for dessert. And then when you'd have the leftover pie crust, you melt some butter on it, you put some sugar and some cinnamon, and you wrap it, you roll it. Kind of like a cinnamon roll, but it's not because it's pie crust and it's smaller. So they're like this big, like, you know. How many did you eat? Oh, I had like 10. 74, Mike. I had the whole bag on the drive. And I was so proud of myself because I'm passing all these McDonald's on the drive to the Bay Area going back home. Eating snails. Yeah, and I'm so proud of myself because I'm like, you can't tuck me in, McDonald's. Like, I won't do it. But you can, snails. And I had the whole bag of snails on the drive. Now, then she says below that, she says, I just spell-checked homemade.
and realized I'd been spelling it wrong this entire time. Ashley thought homemade was two words, home and aid. I did. Wait, what? Sky's look right now was just priceless. I know, Sky, you didn't know either? Sky just gave me Jim from the office. Right? It's a trip, right? I didn't know either. That is crazy. Well, I guess the deal is, Sky, it's one word. Okay, I don't know. And then it's just home and made, but it's one word. When did I start that? Sky, you thought it was two, right? You thought it was two, right? And you know it's the maid with the eye, right? That's right. M-A-I-D? That's right. Okay. That's right. Don't get in my head. Just make sure. Just figured it out. Don't. All right. Oh, boy. Ashley's father's girlfriend got her a bunch of penguin stuff. Yeah, she hooked it up. Did you guys get cool stuff for Christmas? She's into penguins. She got me a penguin calendar. She got me penguin dish towels, penguin coasters, a penguin ice cream scoop. Now, Ash, will you use all that stuff? Like, will you, you'll put out the penguin, you know. The good China. Yes. The penguin dish towels are already out and I'm already using them. The coaster is already out, already using them. I needed coasters and dish towels. It's perfect.
There you go. The penguin ice cream food. Crazy straw with the penguin on it. I love a penguin sippy cup. See? Okay. That's right. You guys get what you guys get that you really enjoyed. Oh. Eddie's giving me a I got something good. Dude, I got a pinball machine. Are you kidding me? A pinball machine? Hold now. What kind? What do we got? Oh, just Marvel superhero. Are you serious? Dude, has it been the fun? Have you just been playing it nonstop? I have to assemble it. Oh, no. I'm getting a phone call. I'll be playing that first. You can call me. I'm pretty handy. Rebecca assembled all of Jake's stuff. I didn't assemble one thing. You did so well at the handyman thing. What's the matter? Dude, I almost called Sky. Can you come over and throw some of this stuff together? Anybody else get anything cool? What'd you get, Ash? Sorry, but you missed. For mine, I got the freaking GPS system for my car. I got a Garmin. Garmin. Garmin.
Can I hear me? It's huge. Those are good. I will never get lost again, ever. That'll help you. Oh, that's cool. I won't. It will tell you it won't. Imagine her looking at that thing while driving. Oh, no. Just lost in it. Oh, no. Who's saying that? I'm a Kansas channel to my story. That's stupid. How do you fire on this thing? Dude, I got an Autocraft. A what? Is that like a remote control boat? What? Really? You're telling me? Notice what I said. An autograph. Is that good enough for you? You like that, champ? Jason Varitek, World Series pitcher. Who got you that? Sarissa. Your lady. Dude, my favorite player. Hopefully we'll be fine.
Okay, we just got really distracted because Richard Simmons. I don't know, dude, but I'm telling. Okay. Dude. In the East Coast, that must have played. That must have aired. You'll be able to YouTube that. What? Well, they were just. Oh, that is genius. Okay, calm down, Mike. What's going on? Richard Simmons is sitting on a couch with Lisa Rayna. Uh-huh. On that stupid after show that comes on after the Today Show with Kathy Lee. And what's her name? Wompy? Wompy. Oda. Okay. Oda. And like the cheese, you know, like the Oda cheese. Yeah, exactly. Anyway, sitting there, Richard Simmons was sitting there with Lisa Rinna and she's wearing a dress. He's... She puts her legs over his legs. They act like they're starting to do a model photo shoot where they're vamping and doing all these different poses. But he opens her legs like scissors. They had to block out her stuff. For the West Coast, they digitized her crotch. This is outrageous. Come here, Ash. Oh, my God.
This is the craziest thing I've ever seen. Oh, my gosh. What were they doing before that? Like, oh, my gosh. And Lisa Rayna, Lisa Rayna puts her hand over her junk. Because she realizes, like, in shock, realizes, I just showed the world my private parts. Her vajayjay. Yeah. My crotch. I think Richard has finally found his soul mix. Oh, my. What did Lisa say? That's the producer, I think, saying be careful. Be careful, yeah. You're hearing a producer... They just cut back to Richard. I have it paused. I can't take this. And now he's doing the upside-down A-OK goggles. You know what I'm saying? When you take your hand and you go A-OK with your finger. Is he on drugs or something? I'm waiting to go on.
They're going to come back and say, hey, Lisa. Well, now she's like, well, who cares now? Gross. Guess everyone's seen it. Oh, my gosh. That was crazy. Dude, that was the best television I've seen all year. I bet you that'll make, like, news headlines. You'll be able to YouTube that later. Lisa Rina exposes herself in Times Square. Wow. That was hysterical. Three quarters of the audience right now is wondering who's Lisa Reina. I didn't know either until I saw her. Dancing with the Stars, right? And Days of Our Lives. She's real fit. Too much. She's like 49 years old, right? She looks good. She looks 48. That's because she had some work done.
Oh my gosh. Good morning. Bunch of shoes spilled out on the freeway in Miami. Is your head okay? What? Is what? Is Mike's head okay? Is Mike's head okay? Think about it. Shoes. Like in Iraq when they hit you on the head with the shoes? Exactly, Mike. Thank you. Exactly. That's a smart one, Mr. Grinch. Like when your friend puts one on the door. Man, you reminded me of that. No, yeah, like thousands of shoes were dumped out on the expressway in Miami, and they have, like, no idea why or what happened. Like Jimmy Choo's? What are we talking about? I don't know. Like, what kind of shoes? I don't know, but they had to bring in all this equipment to, like, move the shoes to free up one leg. Was any of the shoes... Oh, no. It happened to be... Yeah, the shoes...
But nobody claimed the shoes. Nobody pulled over. I don't know. I'm starting to get angry. I'm sorry. I don't know. So they're looking for a charity to donate the thousands of shoes. They don't say what kind of shoes? No. I saw a video of it and it looks like just a bunch of different random shoes. Shuck. Hey, Shuck. What's up, dude? What do you know about this? They were all... All your Nikes? How did they spill out on the freeway? You did? Come on, man. Like, to mean disrespect in Iraq? Exactly. Wow. It's kind of mean. It's my thing. Man. It's your thing. It's really insulting. Yeah, it's mean. Next time he's in Iraq, he's going to be upset. That's a really mean shack. I thought you were going to say something else. I wasn't. Yeah. Just breathing. I hate COVID. Yeah, we know. I know you hate COVID. We got it. Thank you, Shaquille O'Neal. Okay. Well, hopefully they figure out the mystery of the shoes. A study says that true love never dies. Oh, it's so true. Ashley watched The Notebook over the break, too. She said she just sobbed. Oh, that was ridiculous. Was that your first time seeing it? No. Oh, okay. No. And you still sobbed all the way through it? I don't know what is wrong with me. You're really lonely.
That's very blunt. That's just very blunt, though. You know, like the way you just said it like that was sort of like, you know, kind of just cut right to the point, you know? You can just phrase it a little differently. Neither here. She's a human. I've seen The Notebook plenty of times, and I always cry at the end. Like, duh, who doesn't? Eddie, you know what I'm saying? I don't know. Eddie knows what I'm saying. Yeah, Eddie saw it one time on the air. He watched it. He cried. Oh, that was that movie? Yep. But I kicked that movie off, Mike, and I pushed play. Yeah. And the tears welled up in my eyes. And they did not stop until the movie was over. It was ridiculous. The entire movie, I was crying. The entire movie. She's not well right now. I thought it was really lame, the ending. You know, that's so unrealistic. You don't get it, Mike. You don't know that. That's unrealistic, though, you guys. You don't know. Did you cry even during that funny part where she, like, forgets where she's at? It's a super sad part right there. I thought she was doing it as a joke. No, Eddie. It's not a practical joke. I'm sure you thought that. I question whether he really thought that. Okay. You guys are the worst. I agree. Sky, it's unrealistic. Why don't you stop it? You don't know. Tell me.
It could happen. All those people that die at the exact same time. Exactly. Hey, I've heard some crazy stories. You've never heard that one? I've heard some stuff. Grief is a powerful thing, man. Yeah, but not when you're... Like, you know, a day later, they pass away or something. I've heard it. You've heard that? Yeah, my mom told me. You just made that up. No, my mom told me because I watched it with her and it was disgusting. That's all I can say. I have 11, 11 saved messages from her, by the way. Are you serious? Yeah. You have 11? But I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best way to display them. How long are they? A lot of them are pretty short. But they're not that funny because it's just her being like, and then like, whatever. That's not funny at all. No, it's good. The funny part is that every message starts off the same. So I'm thinking of making a montage of all of the messages and how they start off. She's radio gold. It's fantastic. I also got video of her and my Nana, who is her mom. And if you think she's crazy, meet my Nana. Does she talk like that too? Oh, it's like the best thing ever. So I got to edit that down too. Ashley has a crazy laugh. Okay. Ashley has a crazy laugh. You either love it or you hate it. I love it. It's crazy. It's crazy. And she gets it from her mom. Oh, yeah. Her mom's really on one.
Seems pretty normal. Oh, my God. Oh, boy. Say that again. That's what I'm saying. Let's see. I think I gave everything out. I think we're going to wrap this puppy up. Oh, shoot. Oh, shoot. Eddie, what is the schedule for the playoffs? When are they on? When are they doing? Why are they? What's going on? What's the deal? Well, you got two games on Saturday. That is. No, they're not playing. No. This is professional football. You got Baltimore and Tennessee. When do they play? The early game on Saturday. The night game is Arizona and Carolina. I want to see that one. That'll be fun. I was really bored with Philly cheesesteak. Really? Minnesota. I agree. I just didn't have any dog in that fight at all. I couldn't get any part of me to be interested in it. I like Adrian Pearson now. He's pretty cool. He's sick. He looks good. He's sick. I picked him. Remember when you asked me in fantasy football before the season started? But then LT got hurt. If LT hadn't got hurt, I wonder how that would have panned out. Okay. So, loved Arizona.
That game, I enjoyed watching that thoroughly. Arizona Falcons. They're a whole different team on the road, though, and especially on the East Coast. So I think Carolina's going to blow them out probably. So that's the night game. And then on Sunday, the early game is Philly at the Giants. And then we are the 1 o'clock game, Pittsburgh and San Diego. So it's not at night. No, it's Sunday afternoon. Okay. On CBS. And it's like at 1? Yeah. That's cool. You know it, baby. Eddie, did you see Matt Millen on... Yeah. Okay, I wonder if he... What was he on? NBC. Okay. Did you at all have the same thing I did where he's talking about football and there was this thing that kept going off in my head where I was like, yeah, but dude, what are you... Yeah. How am I supposed to take this? It was really hard because Matt Millen, before he was the Lions general manager... Oh. He was a great analyst. Loved him. I mean, he was one of my favorite guys to listen to. And after this whole Lions experience, I was bitter having him even, like, you shouldn't even show your face, bro. Dude, there was a part of me that kind of thought that. Yeah, you're responsible for an 0-16 team that's never happened in the NFL before. Well, I wonder what his record as general manager was. Oh, it's atrocious. You know, if you were to just look at how many games did they win and lose with you as GM? It's atrocious.
Awful. Yeah. And so, yeah, I absolutely felt the same way. I'm like, dude, I don't want to hear what you have to say. I don't. It was weird, right? Because you're what? And you're like, well, how am I supposed to take this? There's a joke. How am I supposed to take this? Well, I'm glad that we both had that same thought. Barbara Walters interviewed Patrick Swayze for the first time since his cancer diagnosis. That's going to be on a Wednesday. His first TV interview, of course, she says everything about Patrick impresses her, his courage, his humor. He's a true fighter. That shall be shocking. Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, were in a New Year's fight. Yeah. This is like being reported on all like the tabloids and all these different eyewitness accounts because, you know, Samantha is a DJ. And so she was playing a gig in Miami and Lindsay was there and goes up to her like while she's working and is yelling at her and people are catching on camera.
And then I guess it like spills out into the alley. And they're screaming. And Lindsay's screaming at her. When I walk away from you, you're supposed to follow me. You're supposed to chase me. Lindsay was saying that? Yeah. And then according to witnesses, and then it goes back to their hotel. And they like ended up trashing the hotel room and fighting. And then they got on the airplane the next morning. And the stewardess even asked her like, honey, are you okay to fly? Because she was still so like distraught and like messed up. And they haven't been seen together since they've been back. I think she'll get an Academy Award for this picture. From Miami. So I don't know if that love is over or if that's just how they roll. That would suck because they got matching tattoos. Yeah, they have to get that removed. What the? Zeth just sent me Matt Millen's record with Detroit. Oh. He was 31 and 84. So just a tick away from being 500. He won 31 games. He lost 84. Dude. Not a good record. That is not a good record. I think we're good. I think we got it all out there. 570-1053 is the number. Open phones, beginning and end of every show. Hey, I do want to know this. What were the new laws that just took effect on the first?
Give me that. And people, you can call for open phones. 570-1053 is our number. Okay, well, there was almost 800 of them. So I'll just give you a couple of them. Number 798. There was, you're saying there was 800 new laws? 775 measures went into effect at the stroke of midnight. In the country or in California? I don't know. This story's out of Sacramento, and most stuff I'm reading is California laws, so I'm not exactly sure they don't specify. That's a lot of laws. Yeah. So, one, it's now illegal to use sites like MySpace and Craigslist to post messages or photos that intentionally harm, harass, or intimidate another person. What? There you go. Are you serious? Whoa. Yeah. Dude, the whole thing that we were talking about? Mm-hmm. Crazy. Yeah. Yeah. They said that was because of a case out of Danville, California, where somebody posted a picture of a underage girl with a phone number, you know, soliciting for her when she like had no idea. OK, now. So this is if you're picking on somebody, it's illegal now. Cyberbullying. Is that what it is? What I'm reading here is to post messages or photos that intentionally harass or intimidate another person.
Ah, boy, that's going to be left to interpretation. But also in the same kind of thing, a new law provides school administrators with more power to discipline students who engage in cyberbullying, using cell phones, computer networking sites, stuff like that. Of course, we all know text messaging while you're driving. You can't do that anymore. That is illegal to send text, to read text, to read emails, any of that while you're driving. Somebody was saying, yeah, well, that doesn't say anything about. OK, wait, wait, wait. So it does cover email. Yeah. Covers email and text. Electronic messages, yes. Okay, got it. Yeah. I'm still going to do it. Let's see. You are a rebel. You're crazy. Yeah, people are already over the talking on your cell phone while driving thing. I mean, people, I see people doing that everywhere. They're over it. Brenda Walsh would be really attracted to you. Wow. And for the record, you're not allowed, I guess, I didn't know, to use speakerphone in the car.
What? I totally got pulled over. Wait, wait, wait. You're not supposed to be holding it. You can use a speakerphone if you, like, mount it or if you have it, like, sitting on your lap, but you're not actually supposed to have the phone in your hands. Hands free. Hands free. Yeah. Wait, Ash. Tell the story. I was on the phone, had it on speakerphone, and so it was, like, literally right up to my mouth, and I'm driving, and I'm... Well, of course you can't do that. You are a clown. And I turned. and I make a turn, and bam, there's a motorcycle cop right there, and he gets me, and he comes up to my window, and he's like, call 911? And I was like, nope. And he's like, all right, well, that's the only call you can be making. You're not allowed to be on the phone. And I was like, but I'm using speakerphone. Yeah. You know, and he was like, oh, hands-free? No, I'm pretty sure that's not hands-free. And I was like, oh, okay, I'm sorry. Yeah. I didn't know that. And so then he went back to write me the ticket, and he comes back, and he's like, you know, you really got to be careful about this because there's a lot of cops, you know, watching. And I go, Well, I'm just pissed because when I, you know, was reporting this on the show, we reported that you are allowed to use speakerphone. And he goes, are you actually from the Mikey show? And I go, oh, yeah, I am. And I just thought, you know, I'd throw that out there. When I was really reporting this, me, Ashley, from the Mikey show. And I just thought I'd throw it out there. And he happens to be a listener. And so. Check out these.
I don't think she did that. He goes, oh, my gosh. He goes, I'm a huge P1. He goes, can I call my son real quick and can you say hi to him? Get out of here. I swear to God. Inappropriate. How about I don't write you the ticket? I'm going to let you out for the warning. He goes, but do you have a second? Are you in a rush? Can I call my son? He's a cop too real quick. Can you say hi to him? He's never going to believe that I just pulled you over. And you're like, no, don't have time. So that was a pretty normal conversation. Wow. Talked to the son and then left. Other laws are school cafeterias and vending machines can't offer snacks with trans fats starting July 1st. Against the law? In schools. They're bad for you. Chain restaurants with... Wait, did you just say trannies? Trannies? Horrible for you. You're right. They can't sell trannies out of the vending machines anymore. I believe they're barely making that a law. Yeah, the law was no on trannies. They were doing that all during November.
Chain restaurants with more than 20 locations must offer nutritional guides, including calories and fats and stuff starting in July. You have to show your trannies. Yeah, show your tranny. I actually appreciate that. If you get repeat DUIs, judges will now be able to consider a lower blood alcohol threshold, so it won't be the .08 if you're a repeat offender. I thought it was zero tolerance. I don't know, bro. Wait a second. It is, Rob. Dude, let me understand this correctly. They're saying. No, I don't understand it. I know I don't understand it the way that you're explaining it. So try again. And this time I'm going to be smart. It says judges will now consider a lower blood alcohol threshold to determine when repeat drunk drivers must use breath alcohol analyzers in vehicles. So everyone else right now. For me, I thought, because in my probation it says, you know, I'm not allowed to drive even after one beer. Everyone else, like you, Sky, Eddie, Zeth, whoever, goes out drives. They get pulled over for .08. Yeah, they get .08. Do we go to jail? But that's not for the rest of your life. That's just when you're on probation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So outside of, if you're a repeat offender outside of probation. So you're 33 what?
I thought it was zero. Zero tolerance. While you're on probation. Yeah, yeah, while you're on probation. While you're on probation, you can't have any alcohol. Okay, so what you're saying is that when you're off probation, let's say they make, you know, this law is now it's .04. So for me, once I get off probation, then if I blow over a .04, then that's considered a DUI for me. I got you. If you're a repeat offender. If you're a repeat offender. To me, it's... Yeah, I mean, it kind of seems fair. Why not? I mean, I can't look at that and be like, how dare you? You know what I mean? I mean, you're drinking. Yeah. Another law, you can't publish home address or other personal information about animal researchers or their families with intent to cause harm. Oh, man. What am I going to do Friday night? Yep. If you're trying to recycle copper, aluminum, or stainless steel, they'll want to take a thumbprint and your driver's license number. That's smart. Because they're stealing all of this. Because they're stealing it. Now, what am I going to do Friday night? Yeah, great. Banks can no longer offer gifts to college students in return for filling out credit card applications. That's brutal. Yeah, which is good. I don't know how I feel about it. On one hand, I go, you college students, don't be so dumb. And then I go, hey, credit card companies, quit being such predators. Right. Yeah. I feel both. Let's see. Emergency medical techs must now undergo criminal background checks.
Who knew they didn't have to? There's now a board that will regulate and certify massage therapists. Let's go back to the EMT thing. You didn't know they didn't have to. I'm just being naive here. What's the deal? Talk to me. I don't know. I just always, you know, thought anybody who's kind of in control of your life should have a criminal background check, whether, you know, you're a cop, a security guard, an EMT, a doctor. Makes sense to me. It's just me. I never thought of it, but now that you say it, I'm like, yeah, it sounds smart. Yeah, this one's a good one. Insurers can no longer reward their employees or underwriters with bonuses for canceling policies after claims have been filed. Yeah, so because those people. They did that? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Creepy. Like you would get raises and bonuses for canceling people's policies who like had claims. That's weird. Like sick people and stuff. Yeah. If you could find a way to cancel their policy, you would get like a raise. That's bad. And what's the massage thing? They now created a board to regulate and certify massage therapists. How come? So you just can't be anybody willy-nilly saying that you're giving massages out. Yeah. So they're trying to get rid of massage parlors.
Is that the deal? Marriage license forms will now enable a man to take his wife's name. That's so stupid. They didn't before? I don't think there was a section for it. You'd get married and then you'd have to fill out paperwork for a name change. Whereas the woman, her name automatically changes with the... Do you think that that was because enough people were complaining about it? I don't know. No. One person. Dude. I bet you're right. His wife made him do it. Yes. Wow. That is ridiculous. You fight this. He's like, I don't want to. Fight it. File. Do it. A lawsuit. Do it. And then finally, they made a new law saying that homeowners who have solar panels cannot force their neighbors to trim or remove existing trees, even if the tree shades their panels. Or their beards. They can't trim. They can't force them to trim either one. So that's just some of the 775 new laws this year. There you go. P1, what's hamponing is on the line. Oh, yuck. Good morning, Cubby. What's going on? I just want to wish everyone a hammy new year. Thank you.
I was wondering if anybody saw that guy jump the Paris archway at the Paris Hotel. Oh, I did. I did. That was crazy. What, what, what? Oh, yeah. Yeah, this dude, this, like, crazy extreme motorbike dude. They had a ramp built, and he went down the ramp. You know how there's that, like, archway in front of the Paris Hotel? Yeah. Like, this huge, I don't even know how tall it is. Uh-huh. And he jumped up on it. I think he went up like 100 feet. Yeah. And then went down onto a ramp. And on the way down, his hand jammed into the handlebar and the brake. And it broke his hand and ripped his hand open. And it's dripping blood. And ESPN's interviewing him. Because he landed it. He landed it. I don't know why people do this. Stay home. Well, and before that, there was the guy that, like, right before the jump, there was a guy that was in this huge, like, monster truck type thing or, like, car, and he did a backflip or whatever. Yeah. But he did not land it. Did he get all jacked up? No, he was fine because the car was, like, so sturdy. Yeah. Eddie, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, totally. I mean, honestly. I'm watching it.
This is like high definition, you know, radio. It really is. Thank you. Oh, wow. Thank you. P1 Chris. Hey, welcome back. Hey, thank you. Hey, I just wanted to say to Edward Matthew Popani, way to go, Oracle. There it is. I knew all those rumors about you being sterile was just a myth. Okay. That's weird. Eddie's a dad. Congrats. Congrats. Baby Oracle on the way. There it is. Take care, buddy. Thank you, man. The lovely and talented Missy is up next today on the show on the Nooner. Double shots.
