Mikey Show, it is 6-0-4. There were more record temperatures set yesterday. It'll be warm here for the rest of the week. New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs. Sources say he will fire Herm Edwards. Really? Yep. Oh, my. That is some pretty big news, especially for us with them being in a division and all that stuff. Yeah, I guess he is... Previously worked with Steve Spagnuolo, the Giants defensive coordinator, and he will probably name him the new head coach of the Chiefs. Really? Yeah. What do you think of that? He's the hottest assistant coaching candidate out there, and so it'll be a big hire for them if they can get him. There you go. Our phone number, 570-1053. Are you a P1? A P1 is a Mikey Show listener. You listen exclusively to the Mikey Show. And when you call in, you turn your radio down, get to the point, and don't cuss. That's a P1. There are listeners. They're just exclusively into the Mikey Show, and we love our P1s, man. You are the priority. That's what that P stands for, Priority One. And you guys have this thing that you created called the P1 Army.
That's who our listeners are. They're all a part of the P1 Army. And you'll see it, man. You'll see it all over on cars. You'll see bumper stickers that say, Mike, you show P1 Army. And that's what that's all about. So be a part of it. 570-1053 is the number. Give us a call. And it's open phone, so we allow you to call right now about anything. What you saw on TV. Questions that you have for us. Stuff going on in your life. Asking about advice on something. why somebody hasn't added you to their Facebook. Whatever. Is that a personal one? No. I thought I heard a little something in there. That is not. Facebook is a hot commodity right now. I saw on the Today Show yesterday they had an expert on teaching people how to Facebook. Wow. That's right. 570105, or as my mom would call it, Facebook. Spacebook. She calls it Spacebook. Well said. 570-1053. Or you can text us. 35253 is our text number. 35253. And there's seven people on the show. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I am very excited. A lot of times we have guests on and I'm very excited. In fact, I even say that...
Mary Lynn Rice Cup, who we had on the other day from the TV show 24. I've said about her before. She plays Chloe. I've said she's my favorite guest. I mean that. When she comes on, we have so much fun. So when I see that she's going to be on the show, I'm excited. When I look at my schedule of what's going on today, I get excited. Today, I'm excited from like a fan point of view. And very rarely do I ever go, I really want to get a picture and have a memento of it. In fact, I don't know that I really do that. That's not part of my deal. I don't really care one way or the other. No. But today, Dan Patrick will be in the studio. So awesome. Wow, in the studio. In the studio. Yeah. I guess he's in town. His brother. is actually one of the, he's the operations manager of this whole joint. Awesome. And so he's going to be coming in here, and I consider him the best interviewer in broadcasting. Wow. Dang. Yeah, I don't think that there's a person that does it better than Dan Patrick. There are two guys that I really admire. I admire Dan Patrick, and I really admire Bob Costas. Yeah.
Those two guys, I think that when they interview people, there's something special about them. And I enjoy the interview. I enjoy the interview because I am very fascinated by people. I'm fascinated by what makes people the way they are and why they say certain things or do certain things or choose certain things. It's fascinating to me. And so to get in there under the hood. and figure them out is a fun thing for me. I would love to do an interview show, interview format. Why are you the way that you are? I think that would be fun. And ask people, why are you the way that you are? Why are you the way that you are? That would be fantastic. So I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. And Eddie is our producer and our sports guy. He's 35. He's going to be a dad. And we'll not know what that baby sex is until that baby comes into this world. It really makes people mad. It does. Does it really? Oh, dude. Whenever people ask me, you know, do you know what it is yet? And I say, well, we're not going to find out. They have this look of like, are you crazy? Yeah. And then it turns into like kind of anger. Like, why are you doing this to us? Yes. I mean, sorry. It gives me anxiety. Yeah. I think it's fun. I don't understand it. Why are you trying to hurt us? That's how they used to do it back in the day. Yeah. Well.
We need to know. I tell you what, why don't, why don't you, uh, why don't you have the doctor put it in an envelope? Don't look at it and then give it to all your friends. That is actually such a funny idea. Can you imagine if somebody, I've never heard of that being done, but can you imagine if somebody like let everyone else know except for them? And like, they're looking at people and they're like, Wow, what is it? Don't tell me. What is it? And all of their friends are like, sorry, can't tell you what you're having. That would be a trip. Well, when you refer to the baby, some people will say he, some people will say she. And the first time you did that, I would know what it is. So I couldn't let that happen. You can't do that. You can't do that. And there's something to having kind of us be the first to know. Yes. I know. You're so selfish. So old fashioned. At some point, we should ask people if they've ever had anybody ultrasound mess it up on mistake. I'm sure somebody has, right? Absolutely. I'm sure that's happened to people.
Skye is our news girl. She is our news girl, and she's got her hair in a cool way today. I like it. Look at that. She's got the side. She bops. What is that, Skye? Hey. She bops. There it is. Is it Cyndi Lauper-ish? No. It's the 80s. Yeah, it's a side ponytail. I like it. Like a low side ponytail. I like it. Thank you. Really cute. It's like you were on a sitcom in the 80s or something. No. Side ponytails are very in right now. I'm not telling you what to do. It's been a while since a headband. I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just making an observation. I'm just saying it's kind of been a while. But hey, to each their own, you do what you want. Take a breath. Sean is our sound effects guy and apparently has a flight to Oahu a little bit later on. And he's giving him the local motion hand sign. That's a different hand sign. That's a different hand sign. There. What's wrong with my shirt? It's nothing. Nothing.
Very tropical. Yeah. Why are you making fun of it and hurting my feelings? I'm not trying to do that. I'm trying to get you a Mai Tai. Oh, really? Okay. No, don't stop it. Stop doing that. It's awesome. I like it when you humiliate me. Coming from the guy who was cracking jokes about my hair 30 seconds ago. Less, probably. Less. Making 80s jokes about my hair. Less. I was making an observation. All right. Oh, man. This is a bad start. Ashley is our assistant producer. She is our friend. She is 25 years of age, and she got on a jacket that would upset PETA. It's obviously got some, I don't know, maybe it's faux fur. It could be faux fur. I think it's fake. You think it's fake? That's real raccoon. That's real raccoon. It doesn't feel real. Yeah, it does. It smells like it. It was like a horse. Boston Rob. He's the guy sitting over there with the green t-shirt on. You know it. And it's a Celtics t-shirt. It says Beat LA. Yeah, which we did. That's right. I want winners. That's right. And Boston Rob, he's our man about town. So you got to love him. Stand-up comedian. That's right. He's a stand-up comedian.
On Friday, the comedy showdown will take place right here at our studios in the performance studio. Guess how many people? How many? About 40. What? Just enough. Does that make you nervous? You are dead, bro. And... sometime around 7.30, we're going to be giving away seats to that extremely exclusive performance. It's a comedy showdown between Boy Blunder, who used to do what Rob does on this show, and he's now on the afternoon show here at Rock 105 with BC and Clint. So Boy Blunder, who's dabbled in a little stand-up comedy himself, is going to be doing a comedy showdown against Boston Rob right here at this station. Genius. And our good friend Mal is going to emcee the whole thing, and he is a comedian, and it should be great. Maybe tomorrow or Friday morning early we can get professional comedian Craig Gass on the phone to give Rob some pointers. There you go. You know what I'm saying?
And then there's the artist formerly known as Sir Roosevelt, Zethian, Oates III, Junior, Esquire, MD, DDS, President, and CEO. As seen on TV. Oh, present place. Sherry's Jubilee and that's it. There he is. It's Zethian Oates. He's our phone screener. P1Scooby, what's up? Hey, man. What's going on? What's going on, guys? What's going on, dude? Real quick, before I get to my point, I want to ask about Dan Patrick coming into the studio. Are you going to accept phone calls and people asking him some questions? I think we can do that. I think that would be kind of a cool thing because I know that a lot of people would probably definitely want to ask him stuff, so sure. I wanted to ask him a couple of questions on his movie careers. Really? All right. So around what time is that going to be, Mike? It will be 9 o'clock. He'll be coming in a little after 9 o'clock. Awesome. All right, so I'm over it. I'm done with the dumb people on American Idol. Oh, Scooby, don't eat it. You know, your girl Ashley was one of the stupid people on American Idol. Come on now. So true. It's not very nice. Really, really mean. She wasn't as stupid as some of these people that were on the show. What do you mean? Hang on a second. I have a clip here and I beg to differ. I think some of these people are brilliant. Cut five. What are you going to sing? I'm going to be singing Starts With Goodbye by Karen DeWood. Okay.
Okay. Okay. Ooh, yeah. Michael. I genuinely couldn't understand a word of that. I'm sorry. I mean, literally, you could have been singing in Bulgarian. I couldn't understand a word. Scoob, what's your problem? Facial expression when he was trying to sing that song. I guess I could have go by. I guess I could go to jail. You didn't quite have the range that he had, but it was close. Hey, speaking of range, what's your problem, Scooby? What about this guy? This guy had some cool range. Cut nine. So what do you do, dog? I'm a cashier. Dog, you think you can be the next American Idol, man? I got confidence. I'm going to be honest with you. I do sound effects for the Mikey show. So now the question is, what you going to do, man? What song? My first, my last, my everything. Okay.
You're my first. My last. My everything. And the answer to all. My sun. My moon. My guiding star. That's what you want. That's like Ashley singing. Just come up and down. Thank you. I will accept that. Thank you. It's a little bit similar. I think that there are a couple of similarities there. I would call it identical. Yeah. We found your voice, Twin. Oh, nice. Your voice, Doppelganger. Yeah. That is good. Duet.
I think the highlight of the show, though, last night was that new judge, Cara DiGuardio or whatever her name is. Right, right. Almost getting into the fight bikini. Yeah, dude. Eddie, there was a chick in a bikini, right? Yeah, so this girl shows up for the audition thing. She's in a bikini and, of course, gets noticed immediately. You know, it was pretty funny because when she goes to audition. Simon immediately is like, yeah, you're going in. That's hysterical. It was hysterical. Okay, question. Are we talking super skimpy bikini? Kind of revealing bikini? It was pretty skimpy. She's hot. She had the body for it, no doubt. Cut 15. Hi. How are you guys? You go out to all auditions like this? No, just this one. Of course. You guys are special. Let me tell you, smart. Maybe you should do a rotate for the guys. Just sort of turn around. Yeah, that's good. Simon, you want to say anything else? Absolutely fine. That's fine. Katrina, what are you going to sing, darling? Treated me kind Sweet destiny Carried me through desperation
To the one that was waiting for me. Beautiful. Spot on. Flawless. Spot. And it was all that you given to me. Thank you. All right, cool. Yeah. Let me kick this one off. Yes. No, no, no. Why? Why not? I think that you have a lot of potential. Thank you. I'm going to say yes. Girls get so mad. Okay, honestly, and this isn't because you're a beautiful girl, and I don't want this to come across as more. She was angry because she's beautiful and young. No, no, no. That's the new judge. I already hate her. No, really. So she sings it back to me. No. So she's singing? No. Oh, come on. I like that better, too. What is the end? No, no. That's the judge. No, this is the protestant again. They're like dual. But that's just fun. Big song. Isn't any better. The judge again. She's got yours. Clean her on this.
Katrina? Katrina Daryl. Because we just know he was top and bottom. Here's the deal. Welcome to Hollywood. You know, that's the first time I heard Paula talk was at the very end, by the way. Yeah, it sounds like it was the new judge show there. It kind of was. The entire thing was, you know, they were trying to introduce her, so there was a lot about her. She's a strong personality. Yeah, it sounds like it. Simon, there is no R at the end of Katrina. What? Wait, wait. But what about Hurricane Katrina? Katrina and the waves. Hey, I can't see the girl. I haven't seen this show, but I thought she sang pretty good. I mean, I thought her voice was nice. I thought it was okay. But definitely the bikini was the...
the calling card there. For sure. And, you know, it was funny having the judge, like, sing it back to her because it was like, why are you so much better? Weird. Who are you? I couldn't even tell the difference between the two. Me neither. And this is just my opinion. I thought the new judge added nothing to the show. Really? Nothing. I'm telling you. And I was like, what was the point of that? Unnecessary. Really unnecessary. Hey, Scooby? Yeah, what's going on? What did you think of that new judge? Yeah, I kind of agree with Eddie. I mean, she didn't really add anything. I thought she was just a louder version of Paula, you know, a more sober version of Paula. That's kind of weird, man. So she added some sobriety to the show. I'll give you that. Which is new. Real quick, how awkward was that kiss after? Oh, we're going to get to that, too. So thank you, Scooby. Guys, explain what he's talking about. So the bikini girl says if she makes it through to Hollywood, she wants to make out with Ryan. Ryan Seacrest. Seacrest. And so she tells Seacrest this before she goes in. And Seacrest, you know, you can see in his face like, what? No, no, no. And so when she comes out, you know how whenever a contestant comes out, Seacrest is there to interview them? Yeah.
He's gone. Gone. What did he do? Fake a heart attack? He runs away. He was not there. He was not there. Dude. And so she has to go look for him. Awkward. She finds him, and she plants one right on his lips. On his lips? On his lips. First time, right? She grabs his face, and it was like he didn't know what to do. He didn't kiss her back. It was the most awkward thing I've ever seen in my life. Yeah. Dude, that's fantastic. And then he tries to change the subject. By the way, P1 Ross, are you there? Yes, I am. You said there was kind of another awkward moment, too, right? Ryan Seacrest trying to give a blind man a high five at the end of the show. Oh, my gosh. What? So they have this blind guy on. You know, he's inspirational. He sings real good. Makes it through the Hollywood. Yeah. So he comes out. Ryan's interviewing him. Yeah. And Ryan's like, hey, great job, man. High five. And the guy's like. Oh, no. The air. The other way. Yeah. Did he not know the guy was blind? He didn't even. He's just oblivious. Oblivious to the whole thing. Oh, dude. That's awesome. It's a little awkward. It's a little awkward. Wow. Such a dummy. Our phone number is 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. P1 Anna. Oh, now Anna. Eddie, Anna was on the line and she wanted to tell you that she saw you at a restaurant on Saturday and wanted to say hi, but she was nervous too.
And so she never came over to say hi, but wanted to say that she was excited to see you. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. I don't remember being anywhere Saturday. You weren't anywhere Saturday? I had to call back because I don't remember where I was. P1 Tyler, what's up? Hey, how's it going? Good. I was wondering about this, the Facebook thing. Uh-huh. I have a MySpace. I always have. But Facebook was like invented for college, and now it's like blown up to this huge thing. Everybody's got one. I never had the will to get one. I don't know why people, why it's so big. Is there something cool about it that I just don't know? Am I not in the stream or something like that? Well, here's the idea behind Facebook is that Facebook is more about people that you know, whereas face face. My space. My space. My book. My space was a way to network.
Get to know not only people that you know, but people that you don't know. And it was a way to just sort of meet everybody. It was like a community to meet anybody and everybody. Whereas Facebook is about reconnecting with people from high school or college and people that you know. And people that your friends know that you also know. And you're like, oh, hey, I wouldn't have connected with that guy again unless this person and this person. And Sean. was talking about it the other day. He's now Sean is doing like he's on it all the time. I'm a little bit addicted. I'm kind of worried. Yeah, but it's a lot of fun. It's really great. And especially if you are, I don't know, over 30, I guess. and you want to reconnect with people from your past, it's really awesome to do that. What about if you're 73 like my dad and you have a Facebook page? That's awesome. That is super cool. That is awesome. Yes. I want to be his friend. It's so fantastic. And he loves it. You can give updates on what you're up to all the time, and that's cool. Does he do that? Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Shut up. Oh, yeah, yeah. Awesome. Oh, that's right. And the other thing about Facebook,
is that if you have friends that don't live here, if you've got friends that live in L.A. or you've got friends that live, even friends that you do have that live here, we have busy lives and you don't always get to hang with them. And what's cool about Facebook is getting to see pictures that they're putting up all the time of their family, their friends, their stuff that's happening in their lives. Now, I know a lot of people will say, well, why don't you just see them instead? Well, that's really cool. I would love to be able to do that, except that when you've got a lot of friends and maybe not a lot of time, it's pretty cool to be able to see their families growing. You do get to be a part of their life every day, and you do get to know what's going on in their life every day, and that's kind of fun. My wife kind of described it as having an ongoing conversation with 60 people at one time. Yeah, it is. And they do this when you first sign on to the page. They have a thing called the news page. And so it's constantly telling you, Eddie just became friends with so-and-so. And, you know, Sky just became friends with so-and-so. And you're like, I want to know that person. I want to know that person. Or I remember that person. I know that person. That's a neat thing. Or if Eddie updates his status.
Eddie updated his status to talk about when the baby was coming. It's cool because people can then see that, know that, and then make a comment about it and be like, dude, congratulations. Or same thing if somebody's like, yeah, I got a test and I'm all stressed out about it. You'll see these comments coming up. Don't worry. You'll do fine. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's a cool thing. It's kind of fun. You know what? Thanks for explaining that to me. I don't think that that many people would want to reconnect with me. I was not the coolest guy in high school. You know what, bro? You'd be surprised, man. People remember you and want to know you and want to see you and all that stuff. It's kind of cool. To each their own, you know what I mean? I have a question for you. Do you think the people that would want to reconnect with you... I got a question. Have you ever been pushed down a set of bleachers before? I have not. No. Hang on a second. I have not been pushed down a set of bleachers, but I have. been kicked out of bleachers before, which was essentially as humiliating and just as bad. Yeah, and it wouldn't surprise me if this guy went on Facebook, if the guy who pushed him down the bleachers would want to reach out to him and apologize. Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me. Now, years later, an adult, that's probably something that guy regrets doing and would love the opportunity to apologize. Is that what happened, Tyler? I don't think he would regret it.
I'm pretty sure after he pushed me, he yelled, I don't regret this. Hey, Tyler, thanks for the call, bro. Have a good one, man. P1 John. Yes. John, what's up? Hey, I was hearing you guys talk about the sonogram tech who's messed up and everything. Oh, like when you don't want to know what the sex of the baby is and you go in for the ultrasound. Well, they messed up because we did one, though. And my wife had sonogram tests done three times. And every time they're saying that it was a boy. So we spent like a couple of thousand dollars getting the room painted, buying all these different types of boy clothes and stuff like that. And all of a sudden, the nurse, when my wife had my daughter. Nurse. Nurse. Congratulations to the girl. It's a girl. Dude. How did that happen? What do you do? How did that happen? They were saying because she had her legs crossed and everything. And like, well, most of the time it's a boy that does that and all that stuff. I'm like, how many times have you been wrong about not getting an actual picture? She's like, oh, I've only been wrong once. Wow, man. That's great. That's great. Yeah, so were you even able to take any of that stuff back and sort of, you know, exchange it? Luckily, about half the stuff, I still had the...
receipts on and the tags because me and my wife bought it ourselves. Yeah. Everything that my friends gave me because they didn't want to see how much they paid for. Right. The tags off of it. Wow, dude. Well, I hope she likes blue. There you go. All right, dude. Hey, I appreciate it. Thank you, John. I appreciate the phone call, brother. All right, you take care. All right, man, you too. We have so much stuff today. Dude, we have so much stuff today. Oh, I don't know. Maybe Tyrone and Sortia could be stopping by. Who knows? I don't know. Who knows? You never know. What about a little lyrical gangsta for WEC tickets? Before this hour's up. How about that? Do it before 7 o'clock. I don't know, Cheaters Hotel back today? Oh my gosh, Mike.
We have a little Sean TV. Sean telling us about some bizarre, weird TV show that he watches that we've never heard of before. Also, from NBC Football Night in America, Dan Patrick will be in the studio today. Don't forget, man. Friday is the comedy showdown. It's going to be Boston Rob doing stand-up comedy against Boy Blunder. We're going to have a... A studio audience of 40 people in our performance studio. And we will be giving away seats to that in the 7 o'clock hour. Dude, we got some crazy audio today. It's like a look back on some of the best Bush-isms. Like some of the best stuff he said that is just nutty. And we're going to be playing that. And dude, we got this. We got this audio of ABC primetime with a hidden camera. Amazing audio. We're going to be doing that for you, too, in the 7 o'clock hour. So don't go away. We'll be back. David Tell in the stand-up spotlight. That's what I'm trying to get at. Global warming, guys. Maybe it's true. Maybe it's not. Maybe I work for an oil company. Melting people! People always say it that way. The ice caps are melting. Maybe there's treasure under those ice caps. Or even better than treasure, a talking dinosaur.
Who we can all have adventures with. Me first, I thought it up. What if he's really wise, too, and he can help us with our problems, you know? Hey, dinosaur buddy, since you are fuel, maybe you would know what the next untapped resource in this country is that we can burn. What did you say? Mexicans. That's racist. You're a racist. No one likes a prehistoric racist. I got a drink for Hitler-saurus over here. The Mikey Show. Oh, yeah! George, I'm going to go to the death. I'm going to try to kill you, and I'm not joking about this. Let me tell you something. I've told you about AIS for years now. 1-800-777-4247 is their phone number. But one thing that we have never talked about when I told you about AIS is when you go down to Mexico, if you get your car ripped off, you're kind of... Up the creek without a paddle. That's right, Eddie. Yeah, they always like it. You have to buy special insurance at the border. I never know what to do. AIS has... Mexican insurance. We got a guy in our sales department, went there with a friend. All they had was a cooler, full of beer, going to go surf. Rented a place, walked outside the next morning, car's gone. He did not get the Mexican insurance. They had to hitchhike back and were very lucky to have some nice Mexican guys pick them up in a truck. Let them get in the back of the truck. They took them to the border and gave them their beer. But maybe you don't want that to happen to you when you're going to Mexico. If you don't want that, then call AIS, 1-800-777-4247. Another easy way to remember it, 1-800-777-4AIS. Or try their website, aisinsurance.com.
Hi, is this where I sign in for the Worldwide Interglobal Micro Macroeconomic Conference? Yes, but the Worldwide Interglobal Micro Macroeconomic Conference is a gathering of leading financial experts. And you seem to be a burrito. Actually, I'm the cheesy double beef burrito from Taco Bell. You do sound delectable. But can you describe your economic theory? Seven words. Double the beef for only 89 cents. And don't forget, right around 7.30 this morning, we're going to be giving away seats to sit in the comedy showdown that we're going to be doing here at the radio station on Friday morning. We're going to have 40 P1s in our performance studio watching Boy Blunder go up against Boston Rob in stand-up comedy. And it's going to be great, man. They're building like a set in there, you know? Like so that behind them, you're going to have like the whole facade of like a comedy store. It's going to look like a comedy, you know, like a comedy club. It'll be awesome. But before we went to break, I said this guy in Northern California has been arrested because he was selling his teen daughter into marriage. For what, Skye? Well, for a handful of things. Cash, beer, soda, meat.
And a few other beverages. Oh, well. Get out of here. Yeah, he was, the agreement stated that this guy was going to pay him $16,000, 160 cases of beer, 100 cases of soda, 50 cases of Gatorade, two cases of wine, and six cases of meat in exchange for his 14-year-old daughter. Oh, what? What is that? I mean, like, how did this? Is there any more details? Well, police say that Northern Afghanistan. Yeah. No. So please say that this happened in Greenfield, California, which is like outside Salinas, Monterey area. Yeah. Yeah. I know where that is. Yeah. And I guess there's a heavy Mexican population there. And a lot of Mexicans from a specific part of Mexico live there. A bunch of heavy Mexicans. Heavy Mexicans? Is that what she said? Heavy Mexican population? Oh, no. She didn't mean overweight. No, she didn't mean overweight. That is not nice.
So, yeah, a lot of people from a specific town in Mexico live in Greenfield, California. And from this town in Mexico, I guess it's not out of the question. This happens. You know, sometimes fathers give their daughters hand in marriage to men in exchange for money and drinks. Yeah, goods. Thank you. And so this guy, the father, had made this deal for this 18-year-old man to give him all this stuff in exchange for his 14-year-old daughter. And then he handed over the daughter, and the 18-year-old guy never gave him the stuff. So this guy calls the police. Are you kidding me? Get him. Are you kidding me? So he was arrested on Monday and booked in the Monterey County Jail. And the police told him, hey, you know, when we go to Mexico, we need to respect your laws. And if these are your laws and your customs to do that, that's fine in Mexico. But you're here in America and here in America.
selling your daughter for money, beer, and meat is illegal. That's wrong here. Yeah, so you cannot do that. In America, you cannot give your kid's hand in marriage for groceries. No, yeah, your underage child's hand in marriage. I guess it depends on what kind of meat. No, it doesn't. Apparently it does not. It does not. Who cares? It rocks. It's good. Who cares? And so he doesn't care. And some people don't care what the lyrics are, but some people know what lyrics are. They could sing along with songs. That's who we want for lyrical gangsta. So give us a call. P1 K.O. is on the line. K.O. K.O. Hi, K.O. How's it going? It's going good, man. This is my wife's all-time favorite love song, by the way. Wow. Gorgeous. In the song Lady by Kenny Rogers, he says, Lady, I'm your knight in shining armor, and I what? I love you. Oh, yeah. And they left him alone? They left him alone. Well, actually, they wanted, like, his autograph and stuff. That's crazy. Is that true? No, it's true. They asked him a bunch of questions. Wait, wait, wait. Did they, like, roll their windows down? Yeah, and then Irvin rolled his down because he thought they wanted to say something. They flashed a gun at him. And they recognized him and they were like, oh, it's Michael Irvin. What's up, dude? Hey, guys, man. I know you're about to rob me, man. But I used to play for the Dallas Cowboys, man. Michael Irvin, what's up, man? Hey, man. How you doing? What's your name, brother? Can I shoot you, bro? Hey, thank you for not shooting me, man.
It's so nice to see you not robbing me. That is nuts. That is one of the crazier stories I think I've heard in a long time. That's crazy. Let's see. A couple of text messages we're getting. Eddie, any thought on the WWE inducting Stone Cold Steve Austin into the WWE Hall of Fame? That's P1D Dog. Yeah, I saw that. Interesting. I love the WWE Hall of Fame. They have the ceremonies every year, and it's really cool, and it's kind of exciting. They unveil a different guy every week up until WrestleMania. It's weird, though, because he's kind of newer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. With a lot of guys that still, from back in the day, aren't in the Hall of Fame yet, it seems like they would take some of those guys before they would go with Stone Cold. But it's the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania. I'm sure they want a huge guy up there. So they decided to go with Stone Cold. P1 Creepy and Awkward sent a text, and it says, Mikey, does Sky's love of money and ham have any connection with a piggy bank? Is there a connection? I think we're doing the math. He's figuring it out. Interesting. Ham. Bank. Ham. Bank. Ham money. Ham money. Piggy. Piggy. Bank. Huge.
It's like the Da Vinci Code. We have to have honey baked. You don't have to just start shouting it out, okay? We get it. Okay, let's see. Some of the other stuff that is in the news. Oh, there is a city in San Diego that was on Forbes list of one of the most boring cities in America. And it's a city right here in San Diego. Skye, what was it? Escondido. Of course it's not Escondido. That's where Skye lives. That place is happening. You don't know. Eddie, I'll tell you. We got the farmer's market on Tuesday. Wait, Skye, don't we also have the 55 plus swim club? Oh, yeah, we do. I mean, they may have those. I've never been to one. Excuse me? I've never been to one. From Sky's yesterday email. Went to lunch in RB with my mom. Then mom and I. Then mother and I. Went swimming at the 55 plus swim club. In RB. We were in Rancho Bernardo. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to just announce to the world, I've given up. Why is that giving up? They keep the pool heated.
pool heated very nice so the old people don't die. So I enjoyed that. You're not really Benjamin Button. I made a joke when I said that. You're not Benjamin Button. It was awesome. I'm going back. Oh, that is embarrassing. It was really, really cool. Sounds nice. Oh, it was so nice. Maybe dementia is setting in and that's why she didn't have a credit union. He died. Gets out of that pool reeking of Bengay. It was a wonderful swim. I had a great time yesterday. This is a quote, by the way. It was a wonderful swim. I had a great time yesterday. I really could go for an insure right now. You know what? Let's live. Throw a Red Bull in it. Oh, wow. It was refreshing to take a dip in my swimming costume. Mother, give me back my swim cap. That is the best. I wore my one piece. Obviously. Obviously. Skye, what do you wear to the 55 Plus Swim Club? I wore a two piece, but it was one of those two pieces where the bottom is like a skirt. Oh, wow. You are...
Fantastic, dude. Did I mean floor length, Mike? Yes, I went to the burka. Swim burka. What the heck? 50 bucks says mom was dressed more revealing than daughter. My mom's looking good. How did they even let you in? I know it. You're not 55 plus. But I was with my mom. No, it was attitudes of 55 plus yesterday. And I'm sure technically someone could have complained, but it's not like I was, you know, frolicking around causing a ruckus. That's right. I was just swimming me some laps. Cannonball! Cannonball! Get back to the story. Yes. Leave Escondido and me alone. So what San Diego County city made it to the Forbes list of most boring cities in America? So this is how Forbes did it. They took the 100 largest cities in America, and then they looked at media exposure over the year, how many times they were in the news, and they found out that one of the top 10 most boring cities is Chula Vista, California.
Chula Vista. Chula Vista. Wow. Yeah. Random. Yeah, Forbes says, Chula Vista, California is the midway point between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. It rarely makes national news, but when it does, it's often in stories about the region's border tensions. How many people even knew that Chula Vista was one of the country's hundred largest cities? Yeah, well, of course, I just want to say for the record. I woke up with that. Yeah, no. Watts, Oakland, and South Central didn't make it on the list, right? Well, what's up with that, man? Let's take on typical racism, Tortilla. Tyrone, Tortilla. I can't believe it, man. Easy. Okay, yes, we did elect a black president, but that's only because John McCain used to own slaves, right? That's true. By the way, I run. And together, we are Tyrone and Tortilla. What up, Izzy? What are you doing, man? Hey, Tortilla.
You know, even though they say Chula Vista is boring, it's good to see my culture in the news, you know? Yeah, I think so too, man. Chula Vista, that's a solid Mexican name. Yeah, for sure, man. Hey, Tarun. Yeah, Tarun. I bet you didn't know, but there's a Mexican version of that rock band game. You gotta be kidding me. It's called Mariachi Band. Really? You play it on the Nintendo Wii, though. You don't? No, you play it on the Nintendo C. What? Did you say the Nintendo C? Yeah, I did. That's cool. There's only one problem. It's not for kids, because every time you do a song, you got to take a shot of tequila and a pound of beer. Yeah, that's right. Wow. Which is fun. I had a good time. I threw up on it, though. Oh, really? Anyway. It's until. Yeah, what's up? You know what's boring to me, man? What's that? White people and their lists. Somebody said it. Roberts is the best actress. Let's put her behind number two. Reese, where's my spoon? Not her last name. Boring. Yes, Tortell. You know what list I came up with? What, Tortell? Where to find the best weed in town? It starts and ends with me.
Check that out. It's a short list. Hey, man, whoever made this list has never been down to the amphitheater. Oh, that's right. You know, when the big artists are playing. Oh, that's right. I'm doing some solid business during that time. There you go. Yeah, I'm busier than my cousin Cheeto hot-wiring cars while the concert's going on. Wow. Yeah, what's up? On the radio, man. What's that? You may not want to give away, you know, like. Good point. Where are you? I didn't say witch amphitheater. I think that we know. If you consider getting shot as boring, then yeah, Chula Vista should be number one on that. Really boring. Man, it's never boring in the ghetto, man. We got the cookouts where you can watch old friends, fist fight after too many 40s. That's a good time. That's right. What are you talking about? I think our city's boring because the economy is bad. Just like last weekend, my My cousin got married so she could collect the rice everyone was throwing when they left the church. Hey, what about TJ, man? What about TJ? If you ask me, they're the most boring city in America. Well... I mean, no one even speaks English there. It's not America, man.
That place is a snooze fest, if you ask me. Okay. I mean, to La Fista, man, it's got its hidden little gems, man. Like what, Tortilla? Well, you know, like, for instance, what about my Uncle Manny's homemade gum shop? It's in his garage, Fato. Your Uncle Manny has a homemade gum shop, man? Yeah, he does, man. And Trent Allen is boring, man, especially after a case of King Cobra. Okay. Again on the radio. Okay, okay, Tortilla. We're on the radio. Yeah, you can't sit here and stop, man. You gotta be careful. You be careful. Pull your beanie up. Oh, no. There you go. I can see your eyes, man. Oh, your eyes are bloodshed. I'm wasted. Okay, again, on the radio. Hey, Tortilla. You know, I grew up in Chula Vista. Really? Yeah, man, it's not boring. Listen. I lived there my whole life, and I know about all the stars that came out of Chula Vista. I didn't know that. Yeah, dude, like Snoop, Fiddy. What? Beyonce. Not true. Sasha Fierce. Sasha Baron Cohen. Rebecca Gayheart. Wait. What? Mrs. Tootie from the Facts of Life. What about them, man? What about Lylee Styros and Jasmine Bleach from Melrose Street, dude? I don't know who that is. What about Lylee?
Chula Vista. They're all from Chula Vista, dude. They're not. Hey. That is awesome. Hey, listen. Listen to me, man. I'm listening. We've got a captive audience. Listen. We've got to take Chula Vista back, man. How's that? Well, look. It's time to make Pep Boys the new SeaWorld, dude. I don't know how to do that. Let's make IHOP the new Charger game, dude. What? The new Charger game? Yeah, man. We need to make getting arrested the new Lego land. Oh, nice. You know what I mean? Yes. Hey, listen. I just got done reading Oprah's new book. It's called Get My Stuff All Under Control. I just borrowed it. Can I borrow it? Yeah, man. It's real good, Tortilla. Yeah? Yeah, I read it on a flight to La Mesa one night, man. A flight? He's a red eye, Tortilla. Oh, okay. I got those. You got it right now. Yeah, I know. Real bad. Anyway, in there, Oprah says, if you really want to have a good life, find some random doctor that's not really a doctor and make him famous on TV. So tomorrow I'm going to do that. Okay. And then she said, she said, just keep throwing stuff at the wall till it sticks and never mind everyone failing around you trying to do. That's a good book. What do you think, Tortilla? I like it. I'm going to read that book.
Yeah. You know, whether this old dude is who made this list, he obviously prefers the rolled taco over the soft taco. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? I think I get what he's saying. Weak. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, weak. We saw the weak, dude. You're like whining little kids. This is The Mikey Show. I cannot even believe I'm about to tell you that I enjoyed working out yesterday. I'm not kidding. I worked out at Frog's Fitness yesterday. I liked it. Listen, you take one look at me, you see this pudgy dude, and you're like, this guy liked working out? I mean, I really did. And a big part of the reason is Frog's Fitness. I like the place. You know, they have...
They have little coolers, little fans that are built into those machines. And so while you're working out, you can turn that on if you want to. You don't have to if you don't want to. They got the little TV screens on the machines while you're working out. And I watched a lady that was in there yesterday work out for about an hour. And every once in a while, she would just start laughing at something that she was watching on TV. So she was, I mean, the whole hour that I was in there working out, she was on this one machine. And was able to, you know, stay into that workout while she was watching the TV. It's really cool, man. Frog's Fitness is an incredible place. And if it's the beginning of the year for you and you're like, hey, I got to do this. I got to get in shape. Try Frog's Fitness. I go to the one in Encinitas. And my trainer is Wendy. And she's the best. And you owe it to yourself. Get into Frog's Fitness and get in shape. It's great. You're faking it. And it's killing you. You go around wearing a smile, pretending everything's okay. You put up a front to disguise the fact that you're really sick with worry about your health, about your sanity, about everything. And you think nobody understands. But I understand. You're irritable, you lose sleep, and your mind is racing with fearful thoughts. You want it to stop. You just don't know what to do. I'm Lucinda Bassett, founder of the Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety. I can show you how to make it stop.

Yeah. Dude. Let it go. That's the best one yet. Eddie took. Eddie took. Grow up. The wire from his earphone. Yes. Wrapped it in a big, giant, like, bun shape and has it on the side of his head. He's just acting like he's, like, normal. Just completely normal. Nothing's happening. What's going on? Have you ever seen a side ponytail? Welcome back. It's 736. Well, American Idol returned last night with a girl singing in a bikini and Seacrest trying to high-five a blind guy. Oh, that's a great, that is a great headline. Top college wide receiver, Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree is going to enter the NFL draft. This text message at 35253 says, hey, Mikey, while Sky was swimming down at the watering hole with the grandmas.
Were they rocking Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong on the phonograph? That's the key one of what's happening. It was funny. At one point, there was a lady on a lounge chair with a couple of her friends, and they were looking through a magazine, and it was just funny to hear the references. Like, look at this. This girl, she looks just like Bette Davis. You've got to be kidding me. I'm like, these are different references than me and my friends use. She looks just like Bette Davis. Wow. Now go wine the Victrola. It was fun. It was a great time. Excuse me, young lady. Do you do theater? Mike, you just saw your guys' billboard sign off the 67. Very nice. That's P1SD, girl. Let's see. Before we went to break, I told you that we were going to tell you about the Smithsonian changing the Bush portrait, the caption, at a senator's request, by the way. Sky, why? Well, a senator from Vermont, an independent, by the way, before anybody starts yelling and screaming and talking smack.
So basically the Smithsonian has a portrait of President Bush up there. And then the caption underneath said that, let's see, the president's time in office was marked by a series of cataclysmic events, including the attacks on September 11, 2001, that led to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. And the senator complained saying that there is no connection between 9-11 and the reason we're in Iraq. And he thinks that that is false and misleading and not historically accurate and asked the Smithsonian to change that. False. I don't believe you continue. Yeah. So the Smithsonian did change it and took out the words led to. I can't just say my bad. I would accept my bad. That's what the caption should just read under there. My bad. By the way, by the way. Oh, BTW? Yeah, BTW. A capital BTW, comma. All right. A little bit later on, we're going to be playing you George, the best George Bushisms in the last eight years. Bush, yeah. I'm going to give you just a tantalizing, just a tantalizing little taste.
Just a little taste of what's to come. A little nugget. A little nugget. Cut 24. There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on you. I mean, we can't get fooled again. It's my favorite old saying. Listen, it doesn't matter who you are, Republican, Democrat. So good. They're fantastic. They are fantastic. And he did it two days ago saying goodbye. I don't remember it. Was it mis-underestimated? I think a lot of people mis-underestimated me. So we got a bunch of those and they're really good. And we're going to play those for you in just a little bit. Okay, so the TV show Primetime. ABC Primetime.
they apparently did this new thing where they were catching people with a hidden camera. And so I got some audio for that, and I'm going to do that in just a second. I'm going to give you some of the audio from that in just a second. Don't forget Friday. Friday is the comedy showdown. Oh, yeah. Yes. It's a really showdown. Yes. Obviously. Yes, it is. Damn straight. The comedy showdown between Boston Rob and Boy Blunder, who used to do Boston Rob's job on this show, who has now graduated to working with the BC and Clint show in the afternoon. I'm graduating today. Thank you, Boy Blunder. Wait, that was Boy Blunder? Yeah, that was on the day he graduated. He must have had a cold or something. I'm graduating today. It's a little different. The Polynesian cold. That's right. The peanut butter cold. And Boy Blunder has been dabbling in stand-up comedy. And Boston Rob, who you know is very critical of stand-up comics, is going to be taking him on. But Rob's never done stand-up comedy. He has not. But he wants to, and he's actually put his name in to kind of get involved with some open mics, and he's very interested in doing it. So here's the deal.
When people come down here, we do not, we want it to be for real. So we're not looking for people to come down here and like not laugh at something on purpose. Because, you know, like we do want you to laugh. Fair competition. Uh-huh. And so Friday, 40 people will be in our performance studio. 40 people will be in there. And if you would like to be one of them, call me right now. Call me right now. 570-1053. Would you like an exclusive ticket? Yes. We told you we were going to do it at this time. If you would like an exclusive ticket to be sitting in the studio with Boston Rock. All of us. We're all going to be in there. Front row. Front row. And if you would like to come in and be in that room the day that we do it on Friday morning, as long as you have Friday morning off and you can come and do this. And you're not sick. And you're not sick. Great point. Great point. We don't want sickies. No. Get out of here. 570-1053. Mikey Show, who's this? Hi, it's P1 Penguin. P1 Penguin. Now, Penguin, you must understand. You must understand that when we give these away, we're giving away single tickets. We are not giving away pairs. We're giving away single tickets. And so, Penguin, you can come. It will be a single ticket. Can you hold on? Oh, yeah. Very good. Mikey Show, who's this?
Oh, no. You're in. Mikey, show who's this? It's P1 Stone. P1 Stone. You want to come be an audience member? I do. Very nice. Hang in the line, okay? All right. There you go. Let's do another one. Mikey, show who's this? Hey, guys. It's P1 Jason. Nice. Oh, the taster. Look at you, dude. You're coming in here. Did you hear about Prison Break, Jason? All right. Awesome. No. Jason, listen to me. Thank you very much. No. We talk about this. Next color. Next color. On Friday, the comedy showdown. You guys are jerks. Right here at the radio station, in our performance studio. That was messed up. Well, what's the deal, Skye? Is P1 Jason into that show as much as you are? Yes, and we talk about it all the time, and they announced yesterday that they are canceling it. What? That's what I'm talking about, homie. Wow. No more prison break? No, it breaks my heart. It's crazy, but that show is real popular. It wasn't. Popular. Well, I know that Sky really liked it. Well, I talked about it before. The first season was excellent. The middle couple seasons were eh. And then this last season was great. But I guess people kind of checked out in the middle. I like the young bodies, Mike. Watch Sean mute. Well, that Wentworth Miller. Wow. He is so special. Talk about that. Wentworth. Love that name. It's so cutting edge. Yes. Wentworth. Wentworth. All right.
Let's all calm down. Okay, so hidden camera stuff. What they were doing on ABC Primetime is they were trying to see how people would react to some real weird stuff going down, for instance. Oh, yeah, I've seen this before. They do this special every once in a while. On this one, dude, they go into a bar, and they have an actor pretend to put a little date rape drug in his girlfriend's wine after she gets up and goes to the bathroom. And they want to see he's an actor that does it. They want to see how will people react if they see this go down? Oh, my gosh. Cut 65. She just went to the bathroom. It's our first date. She's kind of nervous, I think. I'm going to try. We met on the Internet. Yeah. But watch as our actor gets busted by his new friend. Listen to this Freudian slip. It's sediment. It's Pinot Noir. This is a nice Pinot Noir. It's a nice Pinot Noir. The wife, by the way, is upset that the husband is getting involved. The husband saw it, and it was an actor. The guy wasn't really putting a date rape drug in the wine. But a stranger, a complete stranger, the guy's name was Doug, saw it happen, and as you heard, confronts the guy. And Doug's wife's upset. Like, you know, what are you doing? What are you doing? Shut up.
Here's Doug explaining why he did what he did, cut 66. Doug Mascaritola is the hero of the day. The right thing for this whole country is if something's wrong, speak up. React. React and protect your neighbors and let your neighbor protect you. Come on, America, we are the best. That guy's not coming back. Let's live it that way. Yeah. Love how the wife is now on board. Yeah, react, yes. Yeah, he did the right thing. Yes, you are the man. So proud of you, Doug. You're a good American, you. I'm so glad you did that. I love you. Wow. They did another one where they're set up at a gas station, right? And they wanted to see what people would do if they saw someone stealing gas from another person. Whoa. So, John. Oh, yes. ABC's John Quinonez. Oh, my dad would love hearing that right now. Si, se puede. Yeah, si se puede. John Quinonez has to intervene after a guy on a motorcycle threatens to fight this guy. Oh, yeah. Cut 67. Biker Stephen Muhart not only confronts the thief, he nearly yanks him out of his car. Are you serious? What are you talking about? I'm the f***er.
We're not about to let him get to three. How are you? I'm John Quinones. We're doing a show about what you can do. And you're a hero. You're a violent hero. What is your name? Steve. What were you about to do? Contain him until, you know, if he really wanted to get into a multiplication with it or at least push it. It's kind of risky. You never know what this guy might do. He doesn't know what I might do. What if it got physical? Then we'll take it to that level. Wow. That's awesome. So some people are really, you know, like kind of do-gooders. I like it. Trying to do something good out there. That's a crazy show, though. Eddie, you've seen it. Yeah. It's, you know, it's interesting. Yeah. Because, you know, they'll have people like litter or, you know, like steal something and, you know, it's hidden camera stuff and they try to, you know, get their reactions and what people would be willing, how far they'd be willing to go. What about you guys? What would you guys do?
Well, with the date rape drug thing, I think I would say something. I would have no problem saying something. I'd say something. Stealing gas. Man, I don't know. Yeah, I'd probably go in and tell the station attendant. Mr. Station Attendant. I'd maybe write down their license plate, something like that. I would line up behind them. Rob! You'd be the guy I'd turn in. My only problem is that all I have to write with is an Etch-A-Sketch. Oh, wow. So I have to take the license plate. Yeah, keep it steady. The Etch-A-Sketch. And I'd be like, oh, I messed up. Turn it upside down and shake it. I would have to do that. I have a Lightbrite you can borrow. Oh, dude. Perfect. The Lightbrite would be perfect. Oh, when we come back, all we're going to do is Cheater's Hotel. Oh, that's all. That's it. When we come back, we're doing Cheaters Hotel. If you've never heard Cheaters Hotel, basically the idea is that people that believe that their husband or their wife or their boyfriend or their girlfriend is cheating, they go to the website, MikeyShow.com. Write us an email. Let us know. We will call the person. We will pose as somebody calling them to tell them that they want a free night stay at a hotel. And at that point, we will offer them a little gift basket.
And we'll ask them, what name would you like to have put on the gift basket? And if they say the name of their spouse, then they're usually good to go. But if they don't... Adios mio. Adios mio, if they do not say that. By the way, our best of CD... Sweetberry wine. Oh, nice peanut noir. That's right. Sweetberry wine is available right now at MikeyShow.com. It's our best-of CD for the year 2008, and you can get it if you go there right now. Sweetberry wine. A lot of proceeds are going to Rady's Children's Hospital. As I reported yesterday, the Atlanta Braves and pitcher Derek Lowe have reached an agreement on a four-year, $60 million contract. Cheaters Hotel coming up here in just seconds. Before we went to break, I told you that in Australia, they're offering what I think a lot of people would consider to be the best job in the world. It is. I would like it, Skye. Is it Nicole Kidman's bra picker outer? It is not. It is not. A lot of people guessed that. 64% of people asked and polled guessed that. 100% of the time. 100% of the time, apparently, was the... What happened? What I was going to tell you is I would like this job. Oh, yeah. $100,000 to do what, Skye? Basically to kick it. On a beautiful tropical island. So this is all part of Australia's tourism board and trying to, you know, attract more tourists to Australia. So if you are chosen, they will pay you $105,000.
For a six-month job, they will fly you for free from your hometown out to Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef. You will be considered the island caretaker where your job duties will include strolling their white sand beaches, snorkeling on the reef. You'll have a few minor tasks you'll need to do, but you'll also need to report to a global audience through a weekly blog and photo and video diaries. You'll stay rent-free in a three-bedroom house right on the ocean, which has its own infinity-edge pool. You'll get a free little golf buggy to cruise around the island in. They say you must be a good swimmer, an excellent communicator, and be able to speak and write English. Check. I missed. I missed. And they have a website set up if you'd like to apply. What is it? The website is island... IslandReefJob.com IslandReefJob.com We'll split the cash, bro. We'll make this a team. And the website is really cool because in addition to applying and looking at photos, you can also watch all the submitted videos from other people applying. So it's kind of almost like a YouTube type thing where you can watch the other videos of people who have applied. IslandReefJob.com
Islandreefjob.com, correct. And so you can apply until February 22nd. They will pick 11 candidates who they will fly out to the island in early May and then select one person. And then they'll be voted off. And then the job will start in July. It's weird because when I type it in, it puts all these numbers up. Isn't that weird? I don't know. Australia, man. Who knows what they're doing over there. All right. Hopefully this isn't downloading all my bank information right now, is it? I know. I don't think so. Okay. And there's no catch? No. There's no catch. Are you the only one on the island? I don't know specifically. I think you have tourists. They want tourists there. Yeah, they want tourists to see you and how much fun it is, and then they get people to go. Yeah, it's not really a catch because basically, you know, so many people will talk about it because of the job offering, because of the blogs you're going to do and the video updates, that this is like tourism money that they would have spent in a different way. So they're still spending their tourism money, and they're getting a lot of bang for their buck. That's cool. Yeah, it's a great idea. It's so cool. How many people are going to apply for that? Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Seven. Okay. So anyway, that's a crazy story, man. Cheaters Hotel. The idea is if you suspect that your husband, your wife, your boyfriend, your girlfriend may be cheating on you, then you call us or you write us an email. You go to MikeyShow.com. There's a place there you can fill out a thing and send it to us. And we heard from Alexis. Alexis, are you there? Yeah, hi. Hi, how you doing? I'm doing okay. How are you? I'm good. This is your boyfriend we're talking about or your husband we're talking about? No, he's my boyfriend. He's your boyfriend. How old are you, Alexis? I'm 27. Okay. And your boyfriend's name is what? Brian. And how old is Brian? Brian is 28. How did you guys meet? We were co-workers. We were working together at a restaurant when we were in college. Okay. Now, Alexis.
How long have you and Brian been dating? We've been friends for, I mean, since college. So for like five or six years, we've been dating for the last year and a half of it. Okay, so you're friends for a while, you've been dating a year and a half. Okay. Let's see. And what makes you suspect that Brian is cheating on you? Well, number one, because he's cheated in the past. Oh. That's always not a good sign. How long ago? It was closer to the beginning of the relationship, so we were less serious. Oh, so it doesn't count. Eddie, that does count. I think it does count. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, and then one of my girlfriends told me that she'd seen him out to lunch with other women, and they weren't just grabbing a bite. They clearly were sitting down for a meal, and they were laughing and being very, very familiar. Okay. I'm a little nervous. How long ago? That was last week. Now, we've talked about this on the show before. If you are a chick and you see your girlfriend's guy out with another girl having lunch, what do you do?
And so apparently your friend's philosophy was I say that he's a cheater and I go to my girlfriend Alexis and I tell her, hey, your boyfriend's a cheater. I tattle. Well, we don't know if her friend said he was a cheater, but she did go and say, hey, I saw him having lunch. Yeah, that's how ladies do it. They say, hey. Funny thing. You know what? Oh, my gosh. I saw Mark. Did I tell you? That was so cool. And he was with this girl. And anyway. It was Halea Pasta Bravo. And I was like, oh, my gosh. Isn't that Mark and a really pretty girl I've never met? I better call Alexis. Yeah. Well, in this case, it's Brian. And Brian has been dating Alexis for a year and a half. and she has a girlfriend that told her this, and he has cheated before. What were the circumstances when he cheated early in the relationship, Alexis? The relationship, and it was actually with one of his ex-girlfriends. That's bad. That's bad. That's bad. How did you get over it? How did you guys work that out? We talked about it a lot, and it took a long time for me to start trusting him again, and that's why this is so tough, because it's like...
I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, and I want to believe that he's there for me. But I also have, you know, it's like, fool me once. I mean, what? Wait a second. Yeah, we've heard that saying before. You know, President Bush actually said the same thing, cut 24. There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me. We can't get fooled again. What? Say that. That's exactly how I feel. That's how you feel. All right. Well, Alexis, this is what we're going to do. We're going to take a break and we're going to come back and we're going to call Brian. Oh, boy. And we are going to tell Brian that we are calling from a hotel.
And that his name has been pulled from a drawing and that he's won a free night stay at the hotel. And that as a part of that gift, we're going to leave him a gift basket. And that we would like to put the name of him and his guest on the gift basket's card. And we're going to ask him for the name of his guest. If he says, Alexis, which is your name, then things are probably good. And if he says a different name, something other than Alexis, then it's usually indicative of something bad. My rule to you is if he doesn't say Alexis, please don't curse because we've had that happen. Please don't curse. And you just need to stay quiet until we ask him that question. He gives us an answer. Is that cool? That's totally cool. And you feel you're ready to do this. I'm ready. Okay. We're going to take a quick timeout. When we come back, we are going to give him a call. So hang on the line, will you? That is Alexis. She is 27 years old. I know. These are one of those. This is one of those deals, Sky, where a lot of times people know, but they need. Guys, everything's fine.

The New England Patriots vice president of player personnel, Scott Pioli, has agreed to become the head coach of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, meaning he's the general manager. Sources say he's going to fire Herm Edwards. Oh, wow. I just want to remind you that... From NBC Football Night in America. And the syndicated radio show, The Dan Patrick Show. And Patrick will be in our studios today. That's huge. So we're talking to Dan Patrick in the studio. Coming up, we are doing Cheaters Hotel. The idea is that if you believe that your husband or your wife or your boyfriend or your girlfriend may be being unfaithful, you go to MikeyShow.com. There's a place on there where you can write us. We will do Cheaters Hotel. Idea is that we're going to call the person and tell them that they've won a free night stay at a hotel, offer them a gift basket, ask them what name they'd like on the gift basket, and if they say a name other than their spouse, then usually something's up. Alexis wrote us, and Alexis is on the line. Hi, Alexis. Hi. Okay, so you know how this works. I just need you to stay quiet while we call.
And if he says a name other than Alexis, Alexis, then I need you to watch your language. As soon as he says the name, you're free to speak. But just please don't curse and, you know, that kind of thing. You ready to do this? I'm ready. All right. You just need to be quiet, okay? Mm-hmm. Hello, may I please speak to Brian? Yes, Tim. Hey, Brian, good morning. My name is Steve, and I'm calling you from the Orion Hotel, San Diego's newest premier high-rise hotel located in the heart of the gas lamp. And we were just calling to tell you that someone that you know entered your name into a drawing to win a friend a free night's stay at our property. And we're excited to tell you that you were selected, so congratulations. Is this a promotion? That is always the first question that we hear is, is this a promotion, and do I have to see a timeshare? No, you do not.
There's no purchase necessary. This is not a sales gimmick or anything like that to try to sell you anything. You don't have to pay any money. There's no purchase necessary. You need not buy anything to win. We do need to inform you that this is a non-transferable gift. And upon check-in, you will need to place a credit card on hold for any incidentals such as in-room movies. entertainment, minibar, or phone charges. It's in the gas lamp. It's a new property that just went up in the gas lamp. And if you've been in the gas lamp recently, you've probably seen it. But it's a beautiful, beautiful property. And what we do is we're doing these as part of a promotion where hopefully you go and you stay at the Orion and you love your stay. And so you tell people about it and you visit us again. So as an extended gift, the Orion would like to offer a complimentary gift basket to you with strawberries and champagne. And again, that's complimentary. It'll be in the room when you arrive. And what we'll do is we'll put a personalized gift card with the basket. And again, it's at no charge. And does all this sound good so far? Well, I don't know when I'll be able to even take advantage of something.
You can actually use it for the next 30 days. So you have any time within the next 30 days to be able to use it. But once the 30 days expire, so does the gift. So you have to use it within the next 30 days. And again, we like to stress to people that it is non-transferable. So you can't give it to somebody. You have to use it yourself. And so as long as you know that you can use it within the next 30 days, you can accept it. But if you know for a fact, for instance, we've talked to people before that they're going out of town and they're not going to be here. They're going to be on a long vacation or they're going to be visiting family or something and they know they're not going to be in town. And when that happens, it's non-transferable. So then you shouldn't accept it. Yeah, well, I'm not going to be leaving town, but I definitely don't. I mean, is it for one guest or? It's just for one guest, so it's you and a guest, and we'll put... We have your name, Brian, and we'll put your name on the card, and who should we put as your guest? Oh, okay. Yeah, put my girlfriend, Alexis. Alexis? Yeah. Brian, this is...
I'm going to tell you what's really going on. This is Mikey from Rock 105.3. You're on the Mikey show. You're on the radio. So I need to ask you immediately not to use any foul language. And I'm going to let you know that Alexis is on the line as well. Hi. Hello. I'm glad you said my name, darling. Brian. Brian, we're doing something called Cheaters Hotel. The idea of Cheaters Hotel is that when you feel that your husband or your wife or your boyfriend or your girlfriend is being unfaithful to you, we call and we say what I said to you right now. Good morning. I really thought I won something. I was like, I didn't. No, you didn't actually win anything. But Alexis, your girlfriend, thought that you were going to say someone else's name. Oh, no. Here we go. Who was it? Who is she? When was this? It was last week. Carrie saw you and a beautiful woman having a very laid back, casual, great, fantastic lunch together. Who is that? Emily. Who's Emily? It's my cousin Emily. Oh, no way. Can you prove that it was your cousin Emily, Brian?
I don't need to prove it. I mean, we could call her. It doesn't... Emily. Cousin Emily. What was that? I've never met a cousin Emily you have. I know. She's from out of town. Actually, she's my second cousin. It's not even... We could... I mean... Can we get her number and call her? Brian, can we get her number and call her? Yeah, I don't think she'd mind. I just think it's funny. Sky, what's going on in your head? I'm tripping out. I'm like, oh, it's his cousin. Oh, gosh. Alexis must feel dumb. And then I think, oh, but he did cheat before. And now she's never heard of this cousin. I didn't. I haven't cheated. But, I mean, that was, okay. Why do you even? She told us a story. We know it was a long time ago. Just ignore it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really am. Ashley, what are you thinking? Oh. I am kind of along the same lines as Skye. I think that we should definitely call the cousin. Like, why not? Can we get a number and call Brian? Yeah, I don't care. Definitely we should do that because that would say it all right there. I wanted to know what the girls thought because I want to know what girls' first thoughts are in hearing that. Eddie, what do you think? Poor guy. Really? Thank you. Dude had lunch with his cousin.
But he doesn't mention that his cousin was in town and he had lunch with her? Maybe he's not that close with her and he just had lunch with her. But he doesn't mention to his girlfriend. That he had lunch with a cousin. So that means he's cheating? No, I'm not saying that. I just think it's kind of odd that you do something different in your day and you don't happen to mention it when you get home and, you know, oh, how was your day, honey? I'm fine. Brian, what do you think of what Sky just said? I mean... Look, I don't think that I'm necessarily accountable to anybody but myself. 100% true. If I'm not doing anything wrong and I didn't know that I had to give a minute-by-minute breakdown of everything. Thank you, dude. No one's saying that. I know when I come home from my day, I share what happened. I have the bull report to me. Have him read the minutes. Read that manifesto there. It's a manifesto. Alexis. Yes. Are you cool with us? You want us to call and see if that's for real? I would love to talk to this cousin. Oh. So, Alexis, it doesn't sound like you believe him at all. No. Zeth, get the number, all right? Brian, hang on a second. Get that. Let's see. Alexis, hang on the line, okay? Okay. Hang on. Wow. I mean, not even a small part of her believes him. That's a bad sign.
What do you think? He seems like a cool guy. I like him. I don't know. Like, that sucks. I like him. I do. There you go. I have to go to lunch. But Ash, you're a little unlucky. You're a little unlucky in that regard. I am? Why? You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't know if this guy... He didn't like his story either. You didn't like it. Now you like him? I don't know what you were just saying right there, but I like him. I think he sounds like a good guy. You know, listen, you've been a little unlucky in love. You know what I'm saying? Do you get what I... Read between that. I don't think we need... Eddie, stop calling her sad. She doesn't like that. What? You got it, Seth? Yeah. All right. We're going to call and see if she'll come on the air. Make sure we keep Brian on the line so there's no prepping or... Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll be right back. I get a lot of calls every morning. People pick on Sky or Ashley or giving Eddie or Sean stuff. Every one of you are great. Thank you. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. We're starting to see some better-looking speeds here. We do have a new accident, West 94, though, just before the 15 as you head into downtown. That's got you a little bit slow around that, and then it slows again from 32nd Street into downtown. Westbound 8, a little bit tighter around Hotel Circle around Taylor Street because of an accident now cleared there. The ride on the westbound 56, that's still pretty stacked up approaching Camino del Sur for a slow ride getting to the 5 freeway. Heading out of Escondido, South 15 full speed. The southbound side of the 5 goes still struggling here out of La Casa and the Salona Beach.
And coming up out of the South Bay, looking great here on both the 5 and the 805 through National City. 805 is still quite heavy, though, out of Kearney Mesa for a slow crawl over the 52. Yesterday you were giving the last press conference, huh? Well, I just, uh... I want to say a couple more things that I didn't get to in the press conference before I ride off into the sunrise. Sunset. Sunset. Sunset. I'm an early bird, Mikey. Okay. I would like to thank Zany Cheney, my right-hand man. Zany Cheney. You made all the decisions for me. I appreciate that. I would like to thank Michael Phelps. Why Michael Phelps? He taught me how to float on my back. The Mikey Show continues. Rock 105.3. Welcome back. It's Mikey's show. Doing a little Cheaters Hotel. It is 8.33. Local members of Congress have told the Pentagon that they don't want detainees from Guantanamo Bay to be moved to Camp Pendleton. The Colts introduced their new head coach, Jim Caldwell, to the media yesterday. To the loyal Colts fans that live and die with us each and every week, I commit that your team will continue to play fast, smart, and physical.
So the National Football League, I commit to protecting the integrity of the game on and off the field. And that's just to make certain that my first press conference isn't immortalized as one of those beer commercials. All right. I've got to get to this. First of all, Zeth, did you keep him on the line so that we know that he wasn't calling anybody? Yeah, the whole excruciating break. Oh, no. You talked to him the whole time? Yeah. Oh, good. Yeah, I'm not a master communicator. Oh, wow. When did that start? Weird, I know. That must have been great. Alexis, are you there? Yes. Alexis is 27. She got a hold of us. She's been dating her boyfriend, Brian, for a year and a half. Brian, are you there? Yeah, I'm still here. Okay. Brian's 28, and when we were doing this Cheaters Hotel, we called...
And we gave him a free night stay at a fictitious hotel. And we said that we would give him a gift basket. And we said, what name would you like on the gift basket? And he said his and Alexis, his girlfriend. Which should be good news, right? And so Alexis wanted to know, who was the girl that you were out to lunch with last week? Because my girlfriend saw you out to lunch with a girl. And Brian said it was his cousin, Emily. We said, can we call Emily? And he said yes. And we have Emily on the line. Emily, are you there? Emily, you are Brian's cousin. Yeah. And did you have lunch with Brian last week? Yeah, on Thursday. Okay. This is awkward. Alexis, do you have any questions for Emily? Emily. Wait, who is this? This is Alexis. This is Brian's girlfriend, Alexis. Wow. Best reaction ever. That may be the best reaction I've ever heard on this radio show in 20 years of doing radio. I don't know. In 20 years of radio, I don't know I've ever heard a reaction quite like that. It's got to be a track on the 2009 Best Of CD, and the only thing on the track is, oh.
Emily, why so serious? I mean, I don't really understand and I'm trying to work and it's weird. Alexis, it sounds like... I just want to know how this woman is related to my boyfriend. Wait, wait, wait. That's a very accusatory tone. How dare you be related to my boyfriend? It's his cousin. You don't buy it? No. How is his cousin, second cousin, who I've never heard of and is miraculously in town? No way. Alexis. Alexis. Alexis. Alexis. Zeth stayed on the phone with your boyfriend. He stayed on the phone with your boyfriend to make sure your boyfriend wasn't calling and prepping anybody. Hey, in case anybody calls, say you're my cousin.
Zeth was on the phone with him the entire break. Yeah, it sucked. Brian, my cousin, is my second cousin. Brian's cousin Derek is my father. Does that make sense? It's so condescending. How come he didn't let me know that you're in town if you're a family and you guys had a lunch date? How can Emily know what Brian did? I mean, I don't know. I was in town for work for a day. I said, let's grab lunch. Okay, cool. I don't understand what's really... Oh, Emily. You notice Brian is just relishing it right now. He's having a blast, I bet. Brian, what are your thoughts? I just... I don't know. It's stupid. Alexis. You can definitely tell that Brian and Emily are related. Brian and Emily are cousins and I'm sure of it. No DNA test needed. Oh my gosh. We have got to pull that piece of audio of who is this? Oh, that's Brian's girlfriend. Oh. No.
Alexis, I don't know. It's pretty clear, Alexis. Come on. He's clear this time. He's clear this time. I thought Alexis was kind of cool when we first were talking to her. And now I'm like, dude. Hey, Brian. You get off this time. I'll get you next time, Brian. Emily? I know him. He wouldn't be like that anyways. He's just not that kind of person. There's an issue in the relationship, though. Clearly, Alexis and Brian, there's an issue in the relationship. Would it be trust? I believe trust is probably the issue. What do you think? I believe there's an issue of trust, and so you guys got to work on that. Obviously. Yeah, you have to work on that, Emily. You don't have to rub it in. Emily, was there any talk about any of the relationship when you had lunch with your cousin? I'm not getting into that. Oh, man. Probably better. No. Wow. Alexis, do you have anything that you'd like to say to either Emily or Brian? No, I think Brian and I will have a chat later on.
Why are you still angry? Are you like Skye and can't admit when you're wrong? No offense. Well, obviously I'm going to take offense to that. You're thinking about it too much. Don't read into it. You said my name. You're overanalyzing. I was just sitting here. Right, we're cool. Alexis, why are you still mad at Brian? I'm mad because I feel like he's not communicating with me. You know, I don't want to have to go on a radio show every time I think he's cheating. Well, I'm not cheating on you. Hey, and you know what? Honestly, I do think it's a good idea to communicate with your spouse. And he probably should. I think it's a good idea to say, hey, I want to lunch today with my cousin. I mean, and the reason is his cousin is young and pretty and you just want to avoid this. This isn't Kentucky, is it? Oh, please. Unnecessary. Unnecessary. Very unnecessary. All right. Well, listen, Alexis, it's good news and bad news. Good news is he isn't cheating. The bad news is you're not right. Can't wait for that next family reunion, eh? That's going to be comfortable.
Uh, I'm going to apologize for Alexis on Alexis's behalf for Brian and Emily. All right. Thank you. Uh, thank you guys. And I hope sincerely, I hope you guys work it out. Okay. Thank you. Thanks. Good talking to you, Brian. I don't know. That one was, that was rough. Yeah. Oh, shoot. 570-1053 is our phone number. This text message says, I'm not buying it. I think Brian and Emily were in cahoots. Wow. Really? How, though? I don't think in cahoots serves lunch. No, no, no, Eddie. That's not what they did. I'm talking about the bar. I'm not talking about the bar. I'm talking about, yeah, cahoots. Is there any doubt in anybody's mind that that was his cousin? Yeah, I'm 100% sure that it was his cousin. That it was his cousin? Yeah. That there was no shenanigans going on? No. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. This text message says, once a cheater, always a cheater. It's P1 Georgie. P1 Saturday says, this broad sounds insane. That's a classy statement, right? Cut to the chase. What do you mean?
I don't think she's going to believe him regardless of what happens with the call to his, and then in parentheses, cousin. In quotations. P1 Amy says he could have sent the girl a text to cover for him. That's an interesting angle. I guess, but come on. No benefit of the doubt. What does that mean? P1 Banana says. Do they live together? Maybe he wouldn't tell her every part of his day if they don't. I don't know. It just seems like a... Even though they're cousins, it's still something that happened that was kind of... What if they didn't talk that day and he just then forgot about it? That's a possibility. Yeah. That's a possibility. If it was like out of harebrained-ness, I always want to side with people for that. What? I have a little bit of that myself. You do not know. Wait, what? I have a little bit of what they call the harebrain. Come on. That's crazy. And so every once in a while, I will do stuff. 570-1053. Dan Patrick is going to be in the studio with us. Yeah. Coming up next hour. En fuego. That's right. He's very famous for that when he was on SportsCenter. Awesome. Him and Keith Olbermann. The big show. That's right. Now their team back up again on NBC Sports Night in America.
And he's got a real good, close relationship with a couple of guys in sports. One of them is Charles Barkley, so I can't wait to ask him. Oh, wow. The other one is Michael Irvin. Michael Irvin. We've heard that story about Michael Irvin. A couple of guys that he's close with that we can get some firsthand experience and see what they're like. 570-1053 is the number. And our text number is 35253. Sky, have you made your mind up? Was that his cousin? Well, I also kind of had thought about sending the text message. Really? But I'm willing to say I'm 95% sure that was his cousin. Ash? I think it was. It was his cousin. Eddie? 100%. P1 Scooby. Yo. What do you think? I think old girl Alexa needs to drop the dude. Why? Because if she is, if she's going to.
be of the state of mind is like every girl he talks to he's cheating on her with you know that's that's an unhealthy relationship you know she needs to for one check herself and to check her relationship and you know leave it or or get over it because i think oh boy was you know he was cool with it i mean you know he wouldn't do nothing that's an interesting take yeah i don't disagree thank you scooby uh this text message says please save i'm not a master communicator I marked it. That's Zeth's intro for the show. I marked it. Mikey, Brian needs to find a new girlfriend. She's mad that he's not cheating. She's crazy. That's P1 Lady. Now you go. It was almost like a disappointment. Yeah. She wanted to be able to put her thoughts to rest and he didn't help. Let's see. Mikey, you can still text if you put your phone on speaker.
depending on what phone you have, you can or can't do all kinds of things. That could be the phone that you have, and I don't know that that's the phone that he has. Mikey, they could have planned this all beforehand. What? Oh, come on. How? Listen, babe, if a radio station calls you and asks if you're my cousin, just say yes. Yeah, I mean, is that what they're saying? What? Totally. Go ahead. Can I say something in defense of Alexis? Yeah. So my girlfriend at the time was hanging out and talking to her on the phone with her cousin a lot. I didn't really think anything of it. And it turns out she was fooling around with him the whole time. And they're a item now. You know, I think incest is a little bit more rare than common. Oh, really? Personally. That is creepy. Yeah. You know what I mean, Orca? I mean, I have a feeling that...
Oh, I would completely agree with you, but I would just say probably don't completely rule it out. Ew. Well, anything to make this guy cheat. Stop that. I mean, that's kind of a stretch. Let's ask Zeph if Emily's area code is local or not. Was her area code local? Nope. I mean, she was in town when she came to have lunch with him, like she said. Well, I mean, at least we know she's not from here. Well, is Rob's area code local? Good point. That's true, too. Thank you. Hey, you guys. Hey, you guys. What? Maybe he's cheating with this girl, Emily, and he had her move for a short period of time to Philadelphia, get a cell phone there, move back just to have a different area code in case somebody were to ask what his area code is. That's what happened. That's it. Figured it out. You got it. P1 Jordan? Hey, how you doing, Mikey? What's up, man? Not much. I got a couple good points here. All right. One, Emily, his cousin, knew exactly how they were related by father and uncle and all that. There's no way you could have texted all that within the minute and a half, two minutes you guys were on break. That's true. Plus, Alexis is always accusing him of cheating, which usually means if she constantly accuses him of cheating, she's probably cheating on him. And she thinks that he's cheating because she is cheating.
Well, you're connecting a lot of dots, but hey, man, thanks for the call. I'll tell you what this. If anything, it's like this big thing about cheating, like, you know, because he cheated early on. It's a pretty big indication of what that does, even though you think you've got that worked out. Look at how gnarly it is in her. She still she she can't not think. He's cheating on her. 5701053 is the phone number. Our text number is 35253. When we come back, I got to read you Eddie's blog because we've been getting a lot of texts and emails about Eddie's blog, which is an open letter to Charger fans. And we also got to get to these Bushisms, man. I got audio of the greatest Bushisms. In fact, I'll take you out into break with one of these Bushisms and let you know that we're going to be hearing a handful of these in just a little bit. This is pretty classic. Cut 25. Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OBGYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country. This is the Mikey Show. You've given everyone a great laugh and a great way to start my day, so we thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Rock 105.3.

Apparently, the Steelers' Troy Polamalu strained his calf during pregame warm-ups.
and barely made it onto the field in time for the opening kickoff against the Chargers, although he says he expects to play in the AFC Championship game. So we are getting a lot of emails and text messages about Eddie's blog because Eddie was blogging about the Chargers and Charger fans, right, Eddie? Yeah, you know, I'm getting really upset. I can't listen to, like, sports talk radio right now or, you know, read the newspaper. There's a column in today's paper, and it's just really upsetting me. I'm getting very emotional about it. I finally just started putting some words down on paper for my blog today, and this whole thing came spewing out. Oh, no. Should you read it, or should I read it? You can read it. I don't care. It says, let's see. It says, an open letter to whom it may concern. I am a member of the San Diego community.
For the past four years, I've had the privilege to cover the Chargers on the pregame show on Rock 105.3. I've followed this team closely and have had the opportunity to speak with several of the players and coaches. The treatment LaDainian Tomlinson has been receiving in the media and from the fans is disgusting. Last year, I was shocked when the backlash happened after the playoff loss to New England. People in the media and some of the fans were calling him out for not playing. not being a cheerleader on the sidelines. This upset me greatly at the time. I spoke about it at length. I felt LT deserved the benefit of the doubt. If he could go in the game, don't you think he would have? As for the cheerleading aspect, dumb. It was freezing down there. He wasn't pouting. He was trying to stay warm. It also came out later that he would talk to Michael Turner to give him advice.
When he would return to the bench. You know, like a good teammate. So this season rolls around. And LT is still not 100%. We could see it on the field. But he's out there every game giving it his all. Of course, no one really mentions the offensive line as just plain offensive. We'd rather speculate on whether or not LT has lost a step. Brutal. The team struggles. but finds their footing late and somehow makes it into the playoffs. The Denver game, we finally see LT back to form. Unfortunately, he injures his groin severely. He still plays in the Colts' playoff win and even scores a touchdown. Is he praised for his toughness? Not really. We'd rather talk about how two years in a row LT is hurt in the playoffs. Is he done? Are you joking?
The guy has a tendon torn away from the bone. And we're questioning whether or not the guy has anything left in the tank. That's terrible. Now, the speculation has been about if we should trade the man. It makes me sick. I grew up in the Bay Area. I went through a lot of superstars up there. The heyday of the 80s came Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Ronnie Lott, etc. The 49ers got rid of Joe Montana. When it was thought to be unthinkable. The difference between Montana and LT? The Niners had Steve Young in the waiting. And Joe only had a year or two left. We don't have a Hall of Fame running back in the waiting. Darren Sproles, you say? Come on. The guy's great at what he does. Change of pace, return guy, etc. He's awesome. But he is not LT. How soon we forget.
So before you go out and you buy that 43 jersey, flavor of the month, break out the number 21 jersey again. Don't let the hero of this community be treated this way. If you hear someone bashing LT, remind them how this guy is a first ballot Hall of Famer. How he's never been involved in any off-field incident. How does he deserve a chance to play when healthy? How does he deserve a chance to play when healthy to see what he has left? Fans can cheer, they can boo, they can question coaches. But if you're a good fan, in my eyes, you support your team through thick and thin. Especially someone like LT, who's done nothing to deserve this. He's a great, and maybe the greatest ever. Do you really want to retire? Do you really want to see LT play for the Chiefs or the Cowboys or, God forbid, the Raiders? Think about it. He should retire in blue and gold. He is not done. Don't give up on the man that has returned Chargers football to the forefront of the NFL. Thank you, LT. You have one fan that will never waver. Thank you. That's Eddie Papani. Very well said. I love it.
Dude, I agree with every single thing you said, man. I think that was perfect. That said it all. I think you should send that to the UT. I really do. I really do. Yeah, definitely. Letter to the editor. Yeah, send that. Well said. If I knew how to do it, I would. We'll figure it out after the show. That's right. I'll walk you through it. All right. Rob has a carrier pigeon that can take it there. And I can relate with all that you were talking about in that, you know, because when Curt Schilling was on that map in game six, I knew it was coming from the end. I'm listening, Rob. You're ruining it, dude. They had painted. See, and that's the stuff that me and Eddie are talking about. And we got to stand tall. I don't know that you and Eddie agree on anything. Eddie, I can so relate. You can't relate. Oh, me and Eddie are right there. We are the diehards. All you posers and bozos out there. Oh, no. Clean up your act. That's a great letter. You got to send that. Okay. Or fax it. Yeah. Fax it. Email. Smoke signals. Or smoke signals. Light bright. I'm going to put it in a bottle and throw it in the ocean. Oh, yeah. Message in the bottle. Use the light bright. Why don't you text message it? Yeah. It's a long text. Well, yeah, but you use abbreviations. Cost me $7.50. You could post it on your Facebook. That's right. Oh. Would you guys like to hear some of President Bush's greatest hits? I could do this for hours. Let's go. Okay. Light him up, Mike.
Hey, listen, even as a Republican, a conservative Republican, these are just funny. Cut 26. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people. And neither do we. Really, President Bush? So what's the new one we've come up with? Oh, man. Oh, yeah. I think you'll enjoy this gem from 2004 as well. Cut 28. I hear there's rumors on the internets. I heard the same thing. Speaking of the internets, cut 32.
I'm curious. Have you ever Googled anybody? Do you use Google? Occasionally. And one of the things I've used on the Google is to pull up maps. Oh, the Google. Oh, the Google. Love the Google. This one's tough. Cut 29. Another environmentally sensible source of electric power is the hydroelectric dam. I've made it clear to the citizens up there. I oppose breaching those dams. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully. I'm sorry, President Bush, but I have to disagree with you on that one. I don't think we can coexist peacefully, us and fish. We're at war, dude. We're at war. This is war. I have a conference with Aquaman. Please get that figured out, President Bush. I've got to talk to the fish. Please.
That's awesome. Oh, my gosh. This one doesn't help either. Cut 30. We should make sure our children are prepared for the jobs of the future. As yesterday's positive report card shows, children's do learn when standards are high. Children's do learn. Well said. That poor guy, man. I want to do this forever. That poor guy. Cut 31. You teach a child to read and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test. Question. Do you think that anybody pulls him over after this or no? Do you think it's because they're like, well, it already happened. There's no use. It was a mistake. And so what's the use? It's probably written correctly for him.
So it's like, well, what's the point? I mean, the guy is not. I'll tell you. I'll tell you. If it were me and I were the guy put in charge of it, I would just, I would very tactfully, I would say, Mr. President, I just want to make sure that you're reading those things verbatim, okay? We need you to read those suckers verbatim. Oh, yeah, yeah, sure. Why? What's verbatim? Uh-oh. Oh, boy. President Bush, that means that I want you to read it. I want you to read it exactly how it's written on the paper there. I don't... Yeah, that's what I do. Well, sir... I put my spin on it. No, no, no, no, no. Sir, sir, sir. I don't want you to do that. Mr. President, don't put your spin on it anymore. No, thank you. In fact, Mr. President, I have a... I get this verbatim guy on the line. No, no, no. Talk to that guy. Mr. President, I have a little piece of audio here that I had the CIA pull for me that I want you to listen to. It's of you, and I just want you to kind of illustrate what I'm talking about here. Cut 25. Too many good docs are getting out of business. Too many OBGYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country. President Bush, I don't know if you realized what you said there. Do you love your job?
I do love my... Spreading love across the airwaves. That's what these docs are doing. But, Mr. Press, that's not what was written there. It isn't what was written at all, sir. I proved it. I know. You're welcome. Part of the problem. All right. Here are some of the text messages. It's contagious. Yes. Some of the texts, Eddie, about your open letter to Charger fans. It says, Eddie, I'm in tears right now. I couldn't agree with you more. That's P1Midge. This one says, this is from P1Roland. It says, that is why you are the Oracle. Oh, well. Don't mean to brag. This one says, thank you, Eddie. About time someone speaks out. I totally agree with you.
You should send it to the news stations also. You wonder why San Diego is well known for being fair weather fans. Eddie, you rock. P1 Concrete Cowboy says, Eddie, what will you say when LT pulls this stunt again next year? Eddie has the pursed lips, the slow shaking of the head that says, that's what I'm talking about. Yeah, it's a stunt. You know that stunt, how he pulls his groin off his bone? Yeah. That's a good one. That's a good one. How many times was that guy? Yeah, I've seen Knievel do that stunt. Don't worry, Eddie. This one will calm you down. Eddie, maybe LT should stop making commercials and concentrate on football. He does that on his off time, you guys. Let's pee on vodka. And, hey, listen, P1 Vodka, I mean, it's obviously hurt Peyton Manning. Absolutely. Yeah. His brother Eli. Yeah. They're the worst. The guys with rings. Yeah. This text says, being military, we have lived in several states. My husband and I have decided Charger fans are the worst and most unfaithful to their team. That's P1 Military Mom. You know, I don't think all fans are like that. I'm not saying that all Charger fans are bad.
There's a good amount of people that still believe in the team and still support LT. But the faction that don't, it just bothers me, man. It really bothers me. P1Bolt says, Goosebumps! Awesome job, Eddie. Yeah, man. That should go to the paper, dude. Awesome! Dan Patrick is going to be coming into the studio from NBC Football Night in America. Dan Patrick will be in. Well, the ride is looking better out here in some spots. Pretty much commute is about over. However, we do have that one tractor trailer carrying that load of dirt in the South 5 ramp to eastbound 94, resulting in the closure of that ramp. Traveler remains in effect advising you to avoid it. You will find a bit of a backup on the approach heading down that direction. The rest of our freeways are pretty much up to speed now. The 15 looking good out of Escondido, South 5, no worries there. 805 Northbound. You're looking fantastic as you head your way into North Park. There is one other accident, though, on the westbound 52 at the 163. A minivan overturned here, blocking left lanes. Traffic is backed up on the approach there, heading out of Chiarasana into Kearney Mesa. And you're being advised of waiting for good reason. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. And they're super gassy. Yeah, that's what I heard. KC San Diego's Rock 5.3 Mikey Show. With a Mikey moment. Alexis. The guy is not crazy. This is true. It's called shared branching. Yeah, I understand that, but that does not mean what she thought. She thought that you can go to any... He doesn't need you to say it again. Let him say it again. Legoland has announced that on Friday they're going to unveil their Lego depiction of Obama's inauguration. Norv Turner gets rid of four coaches. Secondary coach Bill Bradley and tight end coach... Clancy Barone were fired. The team said offensive line coach Jack Henry and assistant secondary and quality control coach Kevin Ross will not have their contracts renewed. Changes going on. There's a lot of changes going on. We are going to have Dan Patrick here in the studio pretty soon. Awesome! I consider Dan the best interviewer in broadcasting. I love Dan Patrick. He's good, man. He's really fun to watch.
He's one of the most likable, I think one of the most likable personalities in sports. And he's just an interesting guy. And the really interesting thing is that his brother works here. Yeah. I know. It's a trip. It is a trip, man. Wait, what? Yeah, yeah, yeah. His brother is the operations manager for this joint. You didn't know that? No. Yeah. You're cute. And what's a trip, man. What's a trip is when you talk to his brother. you can kind of hear the voice. The voices are similar. But anyway, we'll be talking to Dan Patrick, and it should be during this break. I wonder if he remembers being on our 28-hour show. I don't know. It was right at the end, too, because we were pretty good. I know it. We were pretty punchy. Speaking of punchy, Mickey Rourke was asked how he got in shape for the role of the wrestler, Cut 40. I did some stuff that you don't classify as steroids, but I did some heavy-duty psych supplement. Yeah, of some sort, but not the regular stuff. Oh, Mickey, we're recording you. Oh, wait a second. What the heck? Just so you know, Mickey, we're recording you. This will be broadcast on broadcast television and radio. Yeah, you know that's illegal, right? Yeah, I took the juice. I was taking steroids.
S-T-E-R. They call it the cream. Yeah, yeah. I put it in my, I shot myself in my buttocks. What do you call it? Syringe needle. Syringe needle. Straight in the muscle. In between my toes. Yeah, sometimes I do that. Didn't want anyone to find it. Of course, it was legal, so I bought it from Murray. Weinstein is a guy's name. His phone number is 201. He ends a wig shop. Yeah, that's right. He's got a wig shop more he does. But on the side, he sells steroids. Well, the wig shop is a cover for his steroid company. That makes sense. He's got a bad gambling problem. He has a steroid company called Steroids. How is that undercover? He owns a company that's called Steroids. It's pretty blatant. And so, anyway, Mickey Rourke, who, if they ever had to recast Michael Madsen in any role, I think Mickey Rourke could be the guy. I see that. I think they could do very similar characters. Let's see. Jake Gyllenhaal, too. Yes. Very similar. They're very similar in there.
And their acting style, I think, that they are very similar. Very. Okay. What did you guys think about American Idol? Oh, wow. Well, same old stuff, you know, with auditions. They're making fun of dumb people and that kind of thing. But to me, the biggest thing was this new judge. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was like, what was the point? Like, I don't understand the point of adding the fourth judge. Why did they? She really brought nothing. They're basically just putting training wheels on until they can remove the Paulas. That's really what I was thinking. I think people are going to freak if that happens and Paula's not on anymore. You do? I think people would be... Who would freak? I would personally be sad. I'd be sad. That's only because you got to know her kind of well. You were on it. You know, you were on American Idol. She never met. So you kind of met her. It's a little thing called cut and paste, but I never actually met the judges, even though they made it seem like I did. Really? You're smart. But we know this. Ashley can sing. There's no talking to you. That is true. It's so sad that you're leaving. Thanks to all.
She didn't even have to get, like, you know how people sometimes have to blow the right note before you start. She can do the singing without the benefit of somebody blowing the right note. She's not classically trained is what you're telling me? That's exactly it. She doesn't have to be. Some people are just born with it. You know what I'm saying? It's a natural thing. Some people are just born with the ability. Some people are. Hey, speaking of awesome music, Sky will now tell you where New Kids on the Block will be performing next. P1 Kung Fu, I hope you're listening. P1 Kung Fu is a big NKOTB fan. So is Space Boy. Eddie! That was a secret. That's not cool, dude. Eddie! That's our friend. I love Space Boy. That is our friend. He ruined my life. I don't know that he wanted that to get out there. He didn't? I don't think so. Nobody told me that. That is classic. Well, if you... He's listening to the delay and he just... I am me. Yeah, boy.
So he hasn't heard the part about him yet. Oh, no. And a one and a two and a one, two, three. Yeah, boy. Well, listen, if Space Boy or P1 Kung Fu would like to see NKOTB, Skye, where can they catch him? Well, this is going to be a very special, intimate show, May 15th through the 18th on a cruise ship from Florida to the Bahamas. What do you think, guys? Sounds awesome. How do you okay it? How do you okay it? Oh, well, Joey McIntyre says, quote, our manager tells us it's not a cheesy thing. This is not a step back. Okay, well. Hell yeah. Step back, baby. Hey, Mike, how did you know how it goes? How did you know how the song goes?
Because, like, yeah, you did it perfectly along with the way the real song goes. Who's that? Were you good, Space Boy? I sat on his lap. Yo, Chris. Space Boy. You're gay! Okay. Space Boy? Hello. Hello, how are you? I didn't know Space Boy. You didn't know. You didn't know? I didn't know. I'm sorry. Please. Oh, my God. I'm so excited. Oh, wow. Did you hear where they're playing? Cruise ship? Yes. Is it a gay cruise ship? No. A space boy. Do they say what it is, Guy? Let's see. I don't know if they give the... Carnival! Yeah, it doesn't list here. The queen fairy. Oh, wow. Me and my wife and Quimby, we went to go see the show at, ironically enough, Cox Arena. Okay. It was actually a very good show. I was very surprised. All right. All right. Well, Space Boy. You were hanging tough. That is correct. Donnie pulling you up on stage. Well, you're going to have to book passage on this cruise ship. Make sure your passport's up to date. Yeah, you can hang out with them. There you go. Thanks, Space Boy. I'll tell you, man. It's time to fire that manager.
What's that guy doing? It's fine. Everything's fine. Dude. And if you're NKOTB, you don't get talked into that. No. If your manager says to you, guys, it's not cheesy. It's not a step back. You say, yes, it is. It's one of the cool cruise ships. Yeah. It's like one of those hip. cruise ships. Oh, okay. Tell me about all the awesomely amazing artists that have done this before us. Well, you know, you've got Judy Tenuta. Ever heard of a little band called Air Supply? Hello. Hello. Yeah. Ever heard of somebody called Mr. Mister? Thank you. Thank you. Kaja Goo Goo? All right. Oh, really? You don't want to be included with that group? Yeah. Hello, KD Lang. Hello. Oh, wow. Hello. For the gay crews. Okay, it's all right. It's all right. Let's see what else. Oh, Fleetwood Mac announced the tour. Is it coming to San Diego? Okay, let's talk about this. Oh, no. I don't like that. I don't like that. Yes, it's just Fleetwood.
It's Mick and Christine McPhee, and that's it. And that is Cherry's Jubilee. And that's it. All right, Cherry's Jubilee, and that's it. So this has been their last tour was about five years ago. This tour is called Unleashed, and they have set quite a few dates. It kicks off March 1st in Pittsburgh. I went on Ticketmaster to check the dates, and there were no West Coast dates according to Ticketmaster, but the AP is reporting that they have announced new dates that do include a Los Angeles date. But I didn't see that reflected on their website or on Ticketmaster. So we'll see. But their website did say more dates to be announced soon. I'll go. Of course you do. I don't go to shows very often, but I really like that band. Yeah. What if it's in L.A.? Will you drive up to L.A.? No, I will not. Okay. No, I will not. No. No. Matthew Fox is talking about the end of Lost. That's crazy. What is he saying? Well, you know, he did an interview with Details Magazine, and he comes off so douchey to me. Sorry, side note. He said, in regards to loss coming to an end, he said, personally, it's a relief. He said, I owe the... Yeah, because they did announce that they're ending the show, right? Yeah, next year. So next year's the last season. Yeah.
He goes on to say, I owe this show a great amount, and I think it's exceptionally good, but I'm looking forward to the freedom that comes with not working on one project. What, are you waiting for Speed Racer 2 to come out? Yeah. What's going to happen, bro? Yeah, dude, it's not like you're super busy. Yeah, and so he does say he has some idea of how the show's going to end. He says, quote, the show started with a plane crash on an island in the South Pacific. And it's going to have a very global and epic ending. Yeah, thanks for all the info, Matthew. Has the polar bear ever been answered? Can you ever explain what the polar bear was about? Not really. Would you guys be irritated if they don't wrap up loose ends? Depends what they are. It's going to get wrapped up, bro. Don't worry. Is that one that you would care about, Eddie? The polar bear? I think it's important. Black smoke. Yeah. Black smoke for sure. For sure, yeah. 570-1053 is our phone number. Dan Patrick will be coming into the studio. Hayden Pantieri, the cheerleader on Heroes. She called the cops. Can I tell you why she called the cops? And specifically, Ashley, I think, is going to have a little eye rolls going on. Oh, no. Ash, strap yourself in. You're not going to like it. You're not going to like it. Why? It's a young starlet doing something that will bother you.
Yes, I'm on the phone. I'll tell you why. She called the cops next. Six days a week. You guys are awesome. Appreciate it, bro. Thank you. However, there is a traffic alert still in effect in a couple of spots. One in the South 5 ramp to eastbound 94. That ramp is shut down due to an overturned tractor trailer carrying a load of dirt there. And traffic is backing up as it approached that 94 out of downtown. And another accident involving an overturned minivan in the left lanes westbound 52 at the 163. And that's got some slow traffic here out of Tierra Santa.
Heading into Kearney Mesa, you're being advised to avoid that area as well. The rest of our freeways are up to speed. Well, maybe Dan can help us out with this one. Former cowboy Michael Irvin says that a couple of guys flashed a gun at him until they recognized him. Oh, my gosh. They were fans. Wow. Dan Patrick is in the studio with us right now. And he just got introduced to Zeth. It was fantastic. He goes, what's your name? He says, Zeth. And he says, oh, what's that short for? He says, Zethian. He goes, you'll never forget that. I think Led. Led Zethian. There you go. That's good. I would call him. That's good. Thank you. Thank you. It is a little bit surreal for me to be hearing.
Dan Patrick's voice coming through my headphones right now because he's sitting here with us. But Dan Patrick, of course, you know from NBC Football Night in America. And he's a co-host with his old pal, Keith Olbermann. Yeah. Host of the nationally syndicated radio show, The Dan Patrick Show. And strangely enough, his brother works right here in the building. That's nuts. And when I first heard it, I thought, Come on. Really? Really? Do you think we sound alike? I do. I do. I mean, here's what it was. You don't look alike. You don't look alike, but we were talking. God. He's a dwarf, anyway. Sorry, Bill. He looks a little bit like Alex Trebek, though. He's got a little Trebek working. I can see that. A little bit. A little bit. By the way, I would never say any of these things myself. He's my boss, and so the things that you're saying... Well, we're not on the radio, right? Oh, yes. Okay. Whoa. Oh, my bad. I was talking to him in the hallway, and he was, you know, telling me some stuff. I was listening to him, and as he was speaking, I could hear a little bit of your voice coming out of his mouth. Did you get a little excited? Well, it was, it was, it was. You know what's weird? And, Sky, I meet women, and they, you know, there's no, hey, who are you, or I know who you are. They don't get why guys come up to me all the time. And women inevitably come up and go,
who are you? I don't get this. And I always have to apologize. And I get men. Unfortunately, when I go out to a bar or something, these guys will come over. Yeah, exactly. These guys will come up and they want to talk. And I'll be like, what are you doing hanging with me? But they would rather talk about, you know, cover two defense than they would, you know, some woman who's there. But that's what I get. I get men. Well, congratulations. There you go. Do you get men, Scott? Once in a while. Okay. Are you married? Yes. Thank you for asking. She has a thing from Robin Obin, the former offensive lineman. We are friends. It's not a thing. How come he's not on your screensaver anymore? Why isn't he your desktop? Because this clown deleted it and I didn't have it anywhere. I finally had enough of her adultery. I was upset. We're friends. Where are the white women at?
Sky, it's a pretty direct question. We're friends. Have you made out with him? This is why I say he's an incredible interviewer. Why don't you answer? What's up? Of course I haven't. I'm a married woman. Okay. She's married to Roman Oban. In my dream. Sky Oban. That's right. Rolls right off the tongue. Doesn't that sound like a character in a George Lucas film? It does. I'm Sky Oban. The last time we talked to Dan was on the 28-hour show. We were in our 26th hour on the air. And we talked to Dan. And I was telling Dan that in terms of interviewing, I wish that he would put a book out just about your interviews. And your interview style and how you do it. And you were telling us that at one point ESPN actually sent you guys away for like a week. Yeah, it was five days, eight hours a day to learn how to interview. And there's a science to it. But if anybody, if you get the opportunity to do something like this, do it. If you're in our business, if you get the opportunity, it'll help you in any walk of life, though, in my opinion. But to be able to ask a question, and I do it if it's with my kids, my wife, you know, friends, to be able to ask a question that's not a closed-ended answer that you're going to get. If I say, you know, why did you shave your head? I'm going to get an answer.
Did you shave your head? You go, yes. Why did you? Then you give me an answer. Then out of that, I pick up something else. Well, the reason why I did, I was going bald. Is it in your family? Yes. How conscious are you? Have women, you know, when's the last time a woman made fun of you about being bald? You know, those are the kind of things. I mean, that's just picking up off of something that I see with you. Skye with, you know, her crush. You know, when did you... Oh, it's a crush. It's more than that. Absolutely. Yeah, but when did you realize that you liked him as a friend? Okay. Of when he came in here for an interview when he was playing for the Chargers. What did you say to him? Well, I didn't say anything to him. It was what I said about him after he walked out of the room, and then these gentlemen here called me on it. What did your husband say when you... It's a good interview. These headphones, they're cutting out. I'm having difficulty. You know what? I can write it down. I'll write it down for you. It's okay. That's fantastic. Because sometimes you'll say something on the radio. Now, my wife doesn't listen, thank God. But you're playing a role, too. Why, by the way? She's got other things to worry about. I mean, she doesn't want to listen to me. Really? When I used to be on TV, she didn't even want... No, no, they don't.
And they always say, hey, how was the show? You know, fine. Why don't you listen to it for a chance? She should have asked you an open-ended question. Maybe she should have. Maybe if she listens, she'd pick up. Yeah, she doesn't really care. Every two weeks, they care that I do a radio show. All right, Dan. That's what happened. I love you so much today. Why? First of the month. That's what I get. My kids don't listen. Okay, let's calm down. We have a guest. Dan, when you're interviewing somebody, is it more important to know who they are or who they are in their field? You have to explain that. Do you find it more interesting who they are as a person or what they're all wired in, how they're wired in terms of what they do? In other words, if you're talking to Phillip Rivers, do you want to know more about...
him, his background, and what kind of guy he is, and the psychology of Phillip Rivers, are you more interested in what makes him wired to be a quarterback? Well, it's, you know, they're intertwined there. Because I would want to ask him, what's the temperament of your dad? What's the temperament of your mom? Where do you get your personality from? Where do you get your athleticism from? So then I can incorporate that. That gives me a backdrop. Because he may say, you know what? My dad was even fierier than me or my mom. Okay, what kind of athlete was your mom? You know what? She was a great athlete. And that's where I got, you know. So then I asked Michael Jordan that. Who was a better athlete, your mom or your dad? What did he say? He said, my mom. He goes, you know, I've never been asked that. I said, well, just the curiosity. He did the commercial with his mom. And I thought, you know what? Next time I talk to him, I want to ask him, who was a better athlete? Because sometimes you forget, you know, where they've come from. You just see them now as maybe a finished product. But I look at what I see with Rivers. And you're not quite sure. I asked Drew Brees about that with Phillip Rivers, that temperament. When do you go too far as a quarterback? I want you confident, but I don't want you obnoxious. And you run that fine line there. And he talked about Phillip, that that's who he is. That's who he was. And sometimes you almost have to edit yourself. And that's what I would want to know with Phillip. Sometimes you can see yourself and you don't realize that's you.
You find this with boxers. You find this with athletes. When they're on the field, they're different than they are when they're off the field. Who is that guy is what I would want to know with Phillip. So it's more personality-based because I love the dynamic. I don't want you to break down a defense for me. I want to break down you and find out who you are. And if you get an honest answer, I mean, people say, who's your favorite interviews? Whoever's honest. That's all you want. And I'll say this about John Daly or Charles Barkley or Tyson. They're honest. You may not like them. They got flaws. If you're honest with me, that's the best answer. Tiger's not a great interview, not because he's not smart or fascinating. He knows that you don't want to say anything. You represent corporate America. And the less you represent, I think the more honest you are. Do you have any tools in your interview tool belt that can help to break that down? If you recognize it immediately. Sky, do you want to see my tool belt? It's weird as you're wearing a tool belt. I am. That's why I asked. That's why I asked. I know. I don't think you're dark enough, Dan. You need a tan. Can you please not embarrass me in front of my friend Dan Patrick? Sky likes black men. Oh, no. Dan, if you're interviewing somebody, if you're interviewing somebody and right off the bat you notice they're not giving me much.
They're doing a spiel. Is there anything that you kind of go to or an area that you go to that you know will sort of break that defense down? You can't berate them, but I'll call you on it if you go through. Yes, you will. No, no, no, no, no. I don't want to hear that. You guys, you guys, wait, wait. I'm sorry, Deb, but for those of you that have never heard him on the air. I haven't. The reason that I, well, you didn't have to say that out loud. It's really not hearing me, it's looking at me. Really, that's what she's all about. She's very visual. Very, very visual. Do they know you're blushing? Can you feel how she's blushing? Is there a question asked somewhere? I could warm my hands on your cheeks right now. And on your face. Is there human resources here? Your brother actually is filling out a form. You're going to have to fill out a form with your brother. I would love it if your brother was like, yeah, we have to send an email that that guy can't be a guest on that show anymore.
It's sort of the beauty of being on my own. I tell the guys I work with, I said, just so you know, I'm human resources. And then they just laugh. And then they go to porn sites. And I say, you know, I can't fire you. You guys were dumb enough to come with me when I left ESPN. I can't fire you. Well, Dan was starting to hit on something that I noticed about him. One of the very first times I ever heard Dan Patrick. The thing that struck me is, is he just doesn't. Really? I wasn't getting that. He'll go for it. He's fearless. He is fearless when it comes to the person he's talking to. But you have to ask questions that the listener, I don't want to waste your time. So if you're driving and I've got you for 15 minutes, I have to value those 15 minutes. I don't want to throw away a segment. You want somebody to go, okay, you're talking, I got Joe Montana on tomorrow. What can I ask Joe Montana now that somebody who didn't see him play is going to be interested in? And what I was thinking is he has a son who's in high school. I want him to look at sort of when you become the quarterback you're going to be, at what age, because there is this growth. It's like a broadcaster. You get to a certain point and you say, this is really who I am. Joe is going to look at his son, and when are you a finished product?
And I just want to know what he sees. And you see some of these college quarterbacks now. I want to write down the stuff you're saying. Yeah, I don't know. That's great. That's interesting. You know what it is? It comes down to just being curious. That's all it is. I'm curious. Here's what I did. I went to a different format with my producer. What we used to do is my producer, Eddie, used to give me some questions. And then I put together some stuff myself. I kind of intermix them. When I went to a different format where I said, Eddie, give me bullet points instead now. Instead of questions, just tell me. bullet points, and I, in my own curiosity about somebody, will try to get whatever I'm trying to get to. But who's the last guy you had on? Who's the last interview that you had? We had Mary Lynn Reiske yesterday, who plays Chloe on the TV show 24. Okay. It's a great show. Now, that's a little bit tougher when you're trying to introduce her to some people. A lot of times, if I have somebody on, you know who they are, and that helps me. Because I don't want to explain somebody. Dude, that is so crazy that you just said that. Because Eddie, I have a rule with Eddie. I always say to Eddie, when you're going through people that want to come on the show, I don't ever want to talk to anybody that I have to say, who is that? I never want to interview anybody that I have to say, who is that? And the reason that we had Mary Lynn is because at one point we had her on many years ago. And she was so honest.
And I remembered that. And I thought, people will love this. Something will come of this no matter what. And she's a fantastic guest. She's our Reggie Miller. She's our Reggie Miller. She's fantastic. She's just a friend of the show. We had Norv Turner on last week. Okay, there's one. Norv Turner. Norv Turner. You know what? Well, I asked him who makes the decision on Vincent playing in last weekend's game. This is on the morning. After Vincent had been arrested for DUI, I had Norv on. I said, who makes that decision on him playing? And he said, well, to be in-house that will decide who makes the decision on Tomlinson. Because I wanted to know if LaDainian is making the decision, if the league factors in on if Vincent Jackson is going to play. So I just, that way I get news out. I'm trying to get news out of you. If Norv says LT will decide if he'll play against Pittsburgh, then I've got news. If he says I'm the one that makes the final call. If he says, we have decided that Vincent's going to be able to play until this plays out in the law. That's what I want from you. So I want some information. I'd like to make news. Then you just go in a lot of different directions. And I agree with you, having bullet points. But the best interview I think you can do is when you flow with it. You don't fight it. And a lot of times if you go, hey, I've got four questions here for Norv Turner. Do you think LT will be back next year?
No. What do you think of... Now, see, if you go by that, you just missed out on him saying, no, I don't think so. Then you're like, okay, are you afraid of... How afraid are you of making the mistake that you did with Michael Turner with Darren Sproles? Okay, now, then I gotta... You have to answer me. Don't go, are you afraid of making the mistake? And then he'll go, no. Or, yes, we're afraid of making that mistake. Then you don't get anything. So, once again, you... He gives you the information, and then you pick apart what information you want to add. You may not get to all your questions. I'll give you, for instance, with you coming in today. Okay. I had, in my mind, there were some things that I was really curious about. And I thought, how am I going to get there? Because he doesn't know me. Okay, but what's the question? Give me the topic. Topic is ESPN. Okay, and why I left? Yeah, but there's nothing wrong with that. But I want to know the truth. I want to know the truth. I think we can get, I think that with anybody, even the sort of the Tiger Woods type, I seem to feel that it's within me to get it out of them. I just need to somehow make them comfortable enough to feel that they can do it. And we've achieved that here on the show before. Yeah, but I don't think it's, that's not a big hurdle to overcome. Because I would tell you what the truth is, and sometimes the truth's not as good as what you think it is.
It really just came down to I wasn't having fun. I didn't dislike people. There wasn't a falling out. I just wanted to have fun again. And I didn't want to be, I have four kids and I was missing out on them. And I have three daughters. And I said to myself, and my wife said, you're going to hate yourself. Because I'm the kind that one day is going to wake up and go, damn it, I missed everything. And I want my girls to know and see me around the house with their mother. And that there's interaction so they understand that men, are good people, can be good people. And you find somebody who has a sense of humor. I mean, it's a little bit deeper, but this really weighed on me. It's just, I wanted to be, I wanted to be there 10, 13, and 15. And those are big years. And I just wanted them to be, I wanted to be there when they bring a guy over that, that it's okay. You know, let's talk about it. That line of communication. I text them all the time. You know, so I wanted to have that. And I was going to miss out. My son's 17.
And how do you communicate with a 17-year-old in a cool way and still be a dad? I have to get to his level. He plays World of Warcraft. Yeah. Okay, so I'll just say, you know, instead of fighting it, because he's going to do it, I have to go into his world and then just talk to him about it, you know, about getting a job or why he thinks he deserves to drive one of the cars. Yeah. So you've got to, you know, it's the hardest thing in the world. Yeah. Being married and parenting, and those were things that I, I sucked at because I cared about my job. And I gave everything I had to my job. I worked second shift for 15 years. I missed everything. And when people say, was it worth it? And the answer is no. So I came home. Really, that's it. I came home. And at ESPN, you were doing the television. And they don't care about your life. They couldn't care less. But you know what? Hey, it's not a pity party. I did it, and I did it willingly. And I would take on whatever job you wanted. I'd travel on the weekends. I'd work five, six days a week, seven days a week. And then I said, what am I doing? Like, okay, you got X number of dollars in the bank. Well, it's going to be there when I die. Because if I continue this, that's what I'm going to do. So it was really an epiphany. Is our perception that far off? Because the average person would think, well, Dan Patrick, he's got to be to a level where he can...
kind of call the shots. No, no, no. You know what? There's an insecurity you have in this business. I don't care what it is. That you want to be great so you, your worst enemy is you. Because I just beat myself up to say, am I any good at this? And I did say that. But in their proof, there's proof that you're good at it. It doesn't matter. It's what you think. And I didn't, you know, as you look at somebody who gives a performance on stage, you go, God, you were great. Well, they're going to tell you something different. Do you know when I missed that? And did you hear that? No. But that's just it. You micromanage. And if it's radio, TV, Sports Illustrated, all those things, I would beat myself up. So I just sort of came away saying, I am going to drive myself crazy. I need to go home and just sort of find out what I want to do that will make me happy. Now, you're still doing a radio show. Yeah, we're in 140 cities. So we're having fun. But you still have time now. I'm at home. You do it out of the house? Yes. You do it out of the house. That was a deal breaker. I said I have to do it from my house. Awesome. So I get up in the morning, take one of my daughters to school. I get done with radio. They come home. I go pick up my other two daughters. So I'm there. Oh, wow. That's beautiful. But you know what? I had a three-year period where I would go in at 9 in the morning to ESPN.
And I would get done at midnight. Three years, I did that five days a week. That's insane. It was stupid. But you know why? I was told that I was over the hill and I would not get another job. Now, my boss told me that during negotiations. And you know what? I panicked. And I signed up for that. And you know what? I said, you know what? I don't give a damn. If you think I'm washed up. You know what? F you. Next time around, F you. I'm going to take matters into my own hands. And at the time, I didn't have the guts. So I signed up, and I did that for three years. I slept on a sleeping bag after radio before SportsCenter in my office. This is amazing. No, it's sad. But that's what people have to understand of making sacrifices in this business. As you guys know, in the hours you work, you really, at the end of the day, have to value what is valuable to you. Where was there ever? Wait a minute, wait a minute. I know what you're saying to me, but hang on a second. I'm Dan Patrick. Doesn't matter. None of that was in there? No, because I was a team player. I wanted to be great. But my priorities were so screwed up. My family will always be there. Well, no, they won't. And they move on without you. They would even say, when are you leaving again? I mean, it was commonplace. Now, you know, they're like, you know, when are you going to be home?
Like now it's just completely different. But I got so immersed in it. And you get insecure in this business because it's a young man's game that we'll bring in somebody else cheaper. And we don't need you. SportsCenter, we don't need you. SportsCenter is more popular. That's why people are tuning in. Okay. And they do that. They sort of prey on your insecurities. Hey, you're over the hill. Told that point blank you're over the hill. And I'm thinking, you know what? Am I? And who's going to answer that? You can say, no, of course you're not. But I'm the one that goes, damn, you said that to me. Am I over the hill? And so, therefore, I did three years, nine in the morning until midnight at night. And it would take me an hour to get home. So I'd leave at eight, get home at one in the morning. I never saw my kids for three years. I'd work weekends. I did whatever they asked me to do. But you know what? That's me. That's my insecurity. How do you feel now? I feel like a weight's been lifted off. That's why when people say you're having fun, this is me. I'm just, this is the best I've ever felt because of it, because you made a decision on your own. And you know what? There are times when I said, you know, I made a mistake. And then I said to my wife, my wife goes, you didn't make a mistake because you made the decision. And I said, you're right. Live with it. So you make the best of the decision. So thank God I have somebody who has guts in my family who said, look, we'll sell the house. Come home. We'll sell the house. And I went.
Holy. Yeah. I mean, that's all you can ask for in this business. And I tell people, you want to get in this business, bad hours, bad pay, but make sure you have somebody there who can be honest with you. Because if not, then you're really, really screwed. Because, you know, people tell you you're great. You know, but those are all sort of, you know, they're there to say, yeah, we love you. They don't know you. You know, I don't want sycophants. What about... Perceptual studies. What about ratings? I don't care any of that. Focus groups. No, it doesn't matter. But what if they come back and they all say, you're great. They love you. You know what? It's an Irish gene, I think, that you are, you know, there's a guilt and insecurity. There's something that goes along with that. And it came from my father. You know, you're just, it's not good enough. Yeah, it's just not good enough. And you beat yourself up. And you know what? We never lead the league in confidence. I'll lead the league in acting like I'm confident. I haven't even been able to do that. I'm writing a memoir right now, and I'm telling you, man, and this thing and all this stuff that I'm writing, as I'm starting to put it all together, I'm saying, yeah, I understand where all this came from. I'm a recovering alcoholic, and so I have a history in addiction, and I'm putting all that stuff together right now, and I'm realizing the working title of this thing that I'm writing right now is worthless.
And the reason is because all growing up, that's how I felt. I felt worthless. And that created the success. Any success that I've had is no accident. It happened because I had to prove it had to be something in myself that I could finally prove. OK, I'm good at this one thing. I'm good at this one thing. And so I was motivated in that way. But you could also say you were good at drinking, too. Oh, I was great at it. But you hate yourself. This is what happens. John Daly doesn't like himself. And you don't think you're worth this. Artie Lange, who works on the Howard Stern Show, wrote a book, Too Fat to Fish. Exactly. And the thing was, he thought he was worthless. He thought he wasn't worth it. But that's what it is. That's what an addiction... You hate yourself. And I think that's what happens sometimes when you get into those dark holes. And somebody could say to you, well, why would you do that to yourself? Once again... Only you can answer that. Because I could sit there and go, how could you be worthless? How could you be such a loser where you'd go out and get hammered for no reason? Well, it's you. It's in your DNA. And that's why I'm saying you can sit there and look on the surface. And we're such a surface society when we look at somebody and go, oh, man, he's got to be happy. We don't know what's underneath there. And that's really what you look for when you do interview somebody.
What is it that's there? What is it that I don't know about you? And it's the curiosity there to ask that. Because Phillip Rivers, it's so easy for us to go, what an ass. Why is he drawn with Cutler in the face? What made that? Yeah, I don't know that. What created that guy? Drew Brees, how did Rivers going to San Diego being drafted help you become a better quarterback? And he said, you know what? That guy thought he was going to start over me. It drove me to be a better quarterback. So that's what I wanted to know. That's a negative. He made it a positive. Those are the things that at least I'm bringing something out of somebody. That's what you try to do every single day. I didn't mean to get long-winded. Dan, this is what I wanted to talk about. This is the stuff. The things that I had to go over with you, and our producer's telling us, we've got to break. We've got to break. So we have to break. I thought you made the rules on this show. We do. We do. So let's do this. Do you have another show you have to go to, or are you done? Can you do one more break with us, or do you have to go somewhere? I think I... Do you need me? Yeah, yeah. I think you need me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We need you. We need you. We need you. Take a quick time out. We'll be right back with Dan Badger.

Sean's done a very good job. He's fantastic. He's one of the best. He's one of the best. Don't try to steal him, Dan. Sky is the best. Thank you. I think so. I mean, you didn't even have to. Say it. She's fantastic. People know that. A good kisser. There you go. He found that out during the break. Have you been talking to Roman Oven? Well, you guys shut up. Everyone knows the bunny boo is the only one who has my heart. And yes, I refer to my husband as the bunny boo on the air. Yeah, she does. It's really humiliating for the guy. Yeah, I feel bad for the girl. I thought you were just talking about love and family and how important and honesty. Oh, that's just an act.
I just say that to get benefits at home. Come on. That's awesome. It's all a game. Dan, iPhone or BlackBerry? I don't have either. Really? Yeah. Nice. You don't have either. What do you use? It's, what is it, LG? Are you into the email and stuff on the phone? No, no, no, no. You don't do that? No. Why? I got it separated. I like you. Got to. I know you do. Save that clip right there. Save that clip. You're not an information junkie. When you go on vacation, you don't plug in? I have to shut it down. Really? Yes, I have to. Because you know what? I do a disservice to my family if I go on a vacation and I'm consumed by staying up to date on stuff. I can't. How much do you miss it on vacation? You know what? I'll take an hour a day maybe, if even that, if there's something that I need to know, story or guest.
But other than that, I have to shut it down. I learned that from Dan Patrick, by the way, to ask you, how much do you miss it? Not do you miss it. Very good. How much do you miss it? But it's like the car mechanic who comes home after working on a car all day. Yeah. And you come over and go, hey, hey, Mike, would you look at my car? Hey, would you get under the hood? That's the last thing you want. So I'm the car mechanic who does it all day. And then my friends come over and say, hey, what do you think Arizona's chances against Philadelphia? Right. Well, you have to take a break from that. I love music, and that's usually where I escape with something like that. But you do, you have to have that so you're refreshed to come back and do it again. Now, I will watch games at night, but I try to be fair to my family where I may be watching America's Next Top Models with my girls. Yeah! But... It also gives me something to talk about on the radio. It's not just sports. You're talking about life, what you do, who you see. You know, I ran into Dennis Haysbert, who played the president. Oh, he's so good. He's so good. But I wanted to know when I saw him, you know, is there any way that you have you heard from Barack Obama? Because in any way, did you help pave or set the stage for a black president? Because he was that.
on 24 and we talked about of course he wanted to talk football i wanted to talk acting but that's usually what happens when you run into these people but you know i just thought that that was sort of an interesting moment that happened on 24 that people forgot about we did elect a black president grant it was on on a tv show where are you more comfortable on uh the radio or television radio really yeah i i i'm not a tv guy i just i don't think i look good on tv and i'm always it's a whole lot For very little. Radio is just you show up as you are. And I'd rather people go, you know, I know what he sounds like. What's he look like? It's a visual that I want to create for you. And that's what the magic of radio is all about. Yeah. Are you comfortable on Football Night in America? No. I didn't think so. No. What do you mean, Eddie? What do you mean you didn't think so? I get a vibe that, you know, there's a lot of people in the room. Yeah. And everybody kind of wants to be the guy. And Dan was kind of thrust into a role where people were already there. And I get this vibe that he's a little uncomfortable. But he's got Keith. You've got Keith. No, but I feel stiff on there. Because it's not my show. He can't be him. When I was on SportsCenter, I had control of it. When I'm doing radio, I have control of it. This is not my show. It's Bob's show. And I'm there as sort of a complimentary figure. There's times when I want to grab it.
But I can't. And that can be frustrating sometimes. So, yeah, I am stiff on that. And before Dan was on, I said two of my favorite guys doing the interview are Dan Patrick and Bob Costas. Those two guys are great at it. So I interviewed North Turner the morning after the deal with Vincent Jackson. I said to him, what will you say to Vincent Jackson? And it's a lot of the, you know. Well, you know, you got to get them in there and do what you do with them, you know. You say what you say. Coach me. Definitely talk to them. You sit them down. You say, this is the way we're supposed to go. But my big question, the big thing that I wanted to get to with him. Here in San Diego, when you live in San Diego, the thing that you hear about Norv all the time is, man, this guy is not inspirational to the team. Marty Schottenheimer was. He was inspirational. So I needed to ask that. I needed to ask about that. I needed to ask what he thought about that perception. And so I said, so here's the knock, Norv. You're not a rah-rah guy, and you're not somebody that's going to get them all pumped up before the game. Is that fair? But see, you're...
Close-ended question. So how would I say it? How do you inspire your team? Yeah. Okay. Now, then he can say, well, you know, then you go to the different layers there. But you have to get him. You put him on the defensive. You know, here's the knock. No. You don't want him to get in that mode. He will answer your question. You can give your opinion when you're done with the interview. Your job is not to give the opinion during the interview. Let him. You're having Norv on. So you want the information from Norv. Yeah. Sometimes you'll get this. Here's a cop up. You know what? It's been written. Wait, wait, wait. Who wrote it? It's been said. Well, who said it? Yeah. If I if you wanted to get to Norv and, you know, looks can be deceiving. If I'm watching on the sidelines, I don't know how emotional you get. How do you inspire your team? OK, that's not a knock. I'm seeing you. And I'm wondering, how do you get emotional? How do you get pumped up? How do you get them excited? When's the last time you gave a Newt Rockne win one for the Gipper speech? Love that. So then he's putting you in the locker room, and that's what you want. Let me be the player. Tell me what you would say. Let me eavesdrop here. Let my listeners in the locker room. Give us a sense of what it's like when you want us to win a big game. How different are you in that kind of situation?
after a practice. Whatever it is, you want people to feel like you're letting them in and they get to hear something. I always want to be in the huddle. I said to Graham Harrell at Texas Tech when they beat Texas on the last second play to Michael Crabtree, put me in the huddle. Well, you know, no, no, no, no, I'm in the huddle. And he goes, well, I just said six. And I said, why six? He goes, because we expect to score a touchdown. Now, that's awesome. I want to give me something. So that's what I will remember that. That's what's great about it is that you can't forget that. That's a great thing. Close ended questions. Try not to. There's nothing wrong with saying, did you kill that person? Then you get them on record. That doesn't mean you're a great interviewer. Yeah. Why? Why are you being portrayed as a killer? You got to explain. You can't give me yes or no. But but but if you say, why are you being portrayed as a killer? Aren't you then setting yourself up to hear a bunch of propaganda? Yeah, but you're still going to hear, did you kill that person? No. Now where do you go? You got one answer. I want to hear how they say no. And I wanted to hear how Norv was going to say, you know what he said? I thought it was really interesting. Norv goes, well, you know, I don't have, I have to do, I have to wear a lot of different hats. I have to, if I had.
somebody that was doing this and doing this and doing this, maybe I would have time for so-called cheerleading. But I don't. I have to wear all these hats. And when it was all said and done, I thought, that is an interesting take on why I'm not a cheerleader. Yeah, but you have to take that away and say, but coach, this is your team. How do you inspire them? Whose job is it to inspire them? He may say, it's their job. Then you have something. Or he may say, you're right. There are times when maybe I don't do a good enough job. Or maybe it's really not in me to be that kind of person. Then you get something out of it. Yeah. And that's the thing. But if you listen to him, though, that's the key. He's going to give you what you want to ask next after that. That's always what I'm listening for. I'm listening to what you're saying about Norv and following with my question of what I would have said if I was you. So that's always what I'm trying to do is follow that line. And grab what you want from the line. And then it's almost like tennis. You hit it. Okay, where did you hit it? Oh, in the corner. Oh, boy, I got to go get that one. Or you may have hit it right back to me. Or you may have aced me. When are you going to write a book? Oh, God. I don't want to write a book. You don't want to? No, you know what? Nobody wants to hear somebody who thinks they have all the answers. Because I don't. I tell. I'm just curious. That's all. Don't you think people would be curious about your story and how you got here? I don't know.
Yeah, yeah, they would. I'll be like the guy that told you at ESPN what he told you. I'll tell you, people would be interested. People would be interested in how you did it. It's a bloodletting. When you went into rehab, you really have to just peel the onion back. And after a while, you go, boy, this is not, I don't like this feeling. I'm exposed. It's almost like you're outside with, you don't have a winter coat on and it's cold. Yeah, but how many people could be benefited from knowing that you are very similar to them? And wow. He did it. I can do it. You know, I'm not a Dr. Phil. I don't, you know, I just. I'm not wired that way. I think there's a part of you that says, hey, listen to me. Let me tell you what to do. I don't want to do that. I would get the feeling that people would say, who the hell are you to do that? Like that would be what my initial thought was when you said that. I just don't want to be that kind of guy in helping people. You know, helping people is a little bit different than teaching them how to interview somebody. Yeah. There's other things to worry about in life than how to ask a question. I'm telling you, Dan, it sounds like you have an interesting story. Just the little bits and pieces that you'll say about, well, my dad or, you know, those things are interesting. But, you know, you grew up in a big family and my mom lost six at birth. So we felt lucky to be alive. Wow. She lost six at birth? Yeah, they were born.
And so we felt lucky to be alive. Because there was one that was between, Peter was between Bill and myself, my brother. Now, but they were only going to have six kids. I wouldn't have been born if they had all six that lived. So you sit there, so you go through all those things. You know, my father battled alcoholism, died at 54. So you deal with a lot of, you know, those are the insecurities that you have. You know, your mom never dated again after that. You have your brothers and sisters. It brings you together. All those things form you as to what kind of person you are. So to sit here and go, hey, I can help you or I'm better, it's not. And that's why when I was told you're over the hill, my first reaction was, I'm going to kick your ass for saying that. You know, I wanted to do that. And then I said, No, how about I show you I'm not over the hill? And you know what? It was sort of there. That was always there. Even to this day, if I see this guy, I would say to him, you know, because we never forget. Wouldn't it be safer? You're a very honest guy. On the air, you're very honest. Wouldn't it be safer to not be honest? Yeah, but you can't go to work. There's nothing more enjoyable than actually saying something. Instead of going, wait, can I say how much? I don't want to do that.
And your audience knows if you're telling the truth. And that's what I want. If I don't like somebody, then I'll say that. If I thought a movie wasn't good or music wasn't good or it was good, I'm not afraid to say I'm watching Tyra Banks and her show and she looks scary sometimes with her makeup on. But you know what? I wear makeup. I wore makeup to the delivery of my youngest daughter. I was at SportsCenter wearing a suit and tie. You know, you're just putting people in there to let them know. You know, we all have the same issues. You know, we do. It's in varying degrees. And I don't care who you talk about. They may have a great job. It doesn't mean they're happy. It's just you have your own demons. You fight those demons every single day, no matter if it's alcoholism, if it's, you know, you're going to lose your job. There's so many different things we go through. you know, six kids at the dinner table. I'm just trying to beat my brother to that last, you know, pork chop there. That's what survival is all about. And that's what makes us, you know, drives you. So I want to be great. Three minutes. Let's do three minutes. And I'm going to do something really unusual. I'm going to wrap up rather quickly because there aren't very many people that come in that I say, I'd really like to get a photograph with this person, but you're one of them. I don't, these guys know, I don't do that.
Sometimes people will say, the promotions department will say, hey, can we get a picture? I say, yeah. But I don't do that very often. But I really would like to remember this in a photograph and show my kid one day. So I want to wrap up rather quickly. We had somebody call earlier and say, when you have Dan on, can we ask questions? Okay. Is that okay? Sure. 570-1053. If you have a question for Dan Patrick. I have a question. Go ahead. Well, why don't you call in? It's not really fair. He's jumping to the front of the line. Is this a home court advantage here? Kind of. By the way, my program director sent me an instant message saying I am getting so much out of hearing him talk. Which is great. That's great. That sounded a little creepy though. He's alone in his office. She. Oh, she is. Now Dan likes it. Wait a minute. All of a sudden, I just kicked sky to the curb.
How about that? Eddie, what are you going to ask? I know that you have Charles Barkley on a bunch. Oh, yeah. I didn't even go there. I forgot all about it. I would think you're friends. It seems like you're friends. With his latest stuff, do you know what's going on with Sir Charles? I text him, and once again, all I can do is invite people. John Daly, I can only invite you. If you choose to talk or you can't talk, then that's fine. I understand. I have to respect you. Charles, it's a legal issue with him. Do I have a problem with that? Yeah. Anybody who's driving drunk, you know what? I have a huge problem with that. If he's going around the corner for a jiffy lube, you know what? Then that's something he deals with with his wife. I can't. I can't. You know, that's not my opinion. Driving while drunk, that's wrong. And so I have a problem with that. And you got Ashley on that one. But the girl behind you, you got her. Like non radio wise to Charles. Do I what now? Would you reach out to him? Oh, yeah, I already have. Yeah, I just said, look, if you want to talk and I can help in any way, I will. Because I do like him, but you have to let somebody have a life and be fair to them. And if they want to talk, we invite everybody. If somebody I don't like, I still give them the opportunity to say something back to me if they want to. If it's T.O. or A-Rod or whoever I've had a run-in with, I still give you that. I want to be fair and give you. It's easy to sit here and go. T.O., what do you mean run-in?
I criticized him because of how he treated his quarterbacks and some of his coaches. And I said, how do you treat your teammates that way? And he was coming on to promote Sharpie. And he didn't expect me to ask those questions. How did he react? He hung up. He cried. He what? He hung up. And his agent called back to say, would you call T.O. to apologize? He's crying. And I said, first of all, I'm not going to apologize. I didn't say anything. I complimented T.O. as being a great receiver and somebody I would love to have, you know, if I needed a touchdown. I can put those two things, make them separate, but I can't let you be. He's never wrong. He's never admitted he's wrong.
And that was my problem. You call your quarterback gay. You berate your offensive coordinator. You call out your other quarterback and say that he choked under pressure in the Super Bowl. How do you do that? And how would you react if somebody did that to you? Very clearly, though, there are two different personalities. Yeah, there's two issues there. And you know what? The Niners had... concerns about his mental makeup when he was out there bill walsh told me that so i just wanted to know how do you do that what goes through your mind that you you know he could have said look you know what you get frustrated you know i'm not proud of what i do but he he cried and then he his agent called back and i said you know what i'll call and i and i left a message i said hey i'm sorry if you thought that i was coming at you i wanted answers i had not spoken to you about this Two years later, he writes a book, Sam, part of the white media trying to keep the black athlete down. Oh, no, that is true. I did read that. But not Roman. I mean, who would do that? And apparently you can't keep him down either. And there you have it. All right, let's take some phone calls. Let's take some phone calls. Guy Walker. How you doing? Good, man. What's your question for Dan?
I just want to know, first of all, if he liked MMA at all, the mixed martial arts, and if he played sports as a kid at all. Baseball, football, basketball, played college basketball, had a chance to play minor league baseball, but, you know, too homesick, didn't want to go. And MMA, those are men. And I'm fascinated about that. To be able to go into that octagon and know, you may get humbled. When you watch boxing, when I watch Manny Pacquiao against De La Hoya, you go in and you take everything you have in your life with you. And I love that aspect. Because if you get your butt kicked, if you get humbled, if you knock him out, it's you, it's me, nobody else to blame. So when I watch MMA, if it's Liddell or Rampage Jackson, some of these guys who go in there.
And you take everything you own in your life in there with you. And I think there's a fascination about that. Sure. You can't get out. So true. P1 Matt. Love the cage. Dan, big fan. Respect your opinions a lot. Thank you. Want to know what you think about the Oakland Raiders and Tom Cable and also the controversy about them getting Al Davis selling the team and bringing them back to L.A. Your thoughts. I think Oakland is really close. I really do. I mean, you saw Bush and what he did to Tampa. He's your third running back. Vargas, McFadden, I hope that he's not one of those guys who always nicked up. I want to see Russell with a good offensive line and wide receivers there. But I think the nucleus is there, and we saw that at the end of the year. They showed me something at the end of the year, and I hope that that's something they build on. I don't know. Cable's probably not going to keep the job. Maybe he does just by default. They've gone after other people. But I want the Raiders to be great again. I think the NFL needs the Raiders to be great again. Let's see one more. P1 Scooby. Hey, what's going on, guys? Hey, man. Dan, really quick, before I get to my question, I want to say I think I developed a man crush. Aw. All right. That's sweet. That's kind of weird, but oh well. One more thing. I love your line when you're on SportsCenter.
en fuego dare I say en fuego there it is also a real quick question now are you going to be making are you going to be in any more movies and what types of movies would you like to be making I'm in another movie I'm waiting for Sandler to send me the script it's about a CYO team that wins a championship 20 years ago and they get back for a reunion I don't know what role I'm playing in but Hopefully not a police officer. Sandler always puts me in as a police officer. You've been in movies before? Longest Yard, The Waterboy, and I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry. Sky. I don't know these things. You watch out of Sandler movies, right? Yeah. Well, he's in. He has cameos in like every Sandler movie. But if a person you don't know has a cameo, like how do you know this? Well, I would hope that. You know what I mean? Like now I'll be like, oh, there's a cameo by Dan Patrick. I would hope that I would have stolen. Stolen the movie. Like he would have said. Right? Yeah, definitely. He would have thought that he would have made such an impact that you'd be like, I don't know who that guy is. But look at that mustache in the longest yard. He's so fantastic. House Bunny, I'm in there. Oh, I love that movie. I arrest Anna Faris, and that's me as I bring my... Don't you remember that?
No. You will be watching it. What time do you get off the radio? This is very personal. Then I'll just be quiet right now. P1 Quimby. I'll go home and watch it with you. Wait, where's Bunny Boy? It's Bunny Boy. Oh, Buddy Boo. All right, where is he? Where is he? Quimby, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. I'm here. Go ahead. Dan, I really, really, from the bottom of my heart, I don't want to cry. This is probably the most inspirational thing I have heard because I just got into radio and I was really nervous about it. But what you said today has really just inspired me. to jump to that next level. How did it inspire you, though? What makes you want to jump to a next level? Well, right now, I'm in a position in my life where I can make sacrifices and not make the money and be there those weird, wacky hours in order to do something that I am 100% passionate about. How old are you? I'm 30.
Okay, you're at a delicate age there where in the next couple of years, you'll start to look and say, do I want children? Do I want to be married? Who wants to be married to somebody who has these kind of hours? All of those things will factor in. So if you jump in, jump in with both feet because you may not get another chance in this medium. So you have to be fully committed because if you go half-assed, then you're going to hate yourself because you didn't go all in. So make sure you do that. Yeah, I have all of that right now, which is crazy that you say that. And I'm buying my first pair of headphones today. And I just want to say, I work for your brother. Yeah, she works here. This is a girl that we know. So get her a promotion already. But you have to make sure that you're doing it for the right reasons. Because I made $18,000 my first job at CNN. And you know what? I couldn't care less. I was actually doing I was getting paid to do sports. So whatever it is you're doing, if you get paid to do it, eventually you'll look at that paycheck and you'll have to make a tough decision here. But if you do it and you get paid to do what you love, you're very, very rare. And we don't get that many opportunities. So good luck with that. OK, I consider him the Michael Jordan.
of broadcasting. Dan Patrick. No, Dan, I'm telling you, man, in terms of broadcasting and honesty and the way that you do an interview and all that, the best. I've enjoyed it, guys. Thank you. I've enjoyed it. It's Dan Patrick, and listen, today was a great day in my radio career. I had a fun time today, and we got to go. The lovely and talented Missy's up next. We'll see you again tomorrow morning at 5.30. The Mikey Show's out late.
