Ashley made her television debut on American Idol last night, singing James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful' and a Gwen Stefani 'Sweet Escape' snippet that she had to learn in 30 minutes, which led to her being compared to William Hung by judge Nigel Lithgow, a comparison she found deeply insulting; the episode aired with judges' reactions edited in from earlier auditions, and fans reacted strongly both positively and negatively online. The Mikey Show also discussed Heath Ledger's sudden death at age 28, noting his upcoming role as the Joker in The Dark Knight and the likely accidental overdose of sleeping pills and antidepressants, while introducing the M-Tube video contest challenging listeners to create three-minute-or-less viral parodies for a high-definition camcorder prize.

out there's those stories and then there's this one uh fans of the mikey show on rock 105.3 saw a familiar face last night on american idol many might know ashley for her unusual singing ability and if you missed it last night take a look i've been acting like sarah muck all on the floor this is all your fault because it's because of the refrigerated it may be that been acting so cold do you have a guy named william hung compare me to william hung he's probably the biggest insult ever You know, I had a chance to hang out a little bit with the guys on the Mikey Show. She's an absolute sweetheart, but they have a full, long-running bit where they have Ashley sing songs on the Mikey Show and have people guess what the song is. I mean, and I haven't gotten one of them yet. You haven't? No. So, Ashley, we love you, honey, but, you know, keep singing for laughs. It's good TV, good radio. That's right, and you're a sweetheart, so. Still ahead. How do you like that? That's great.
How do you like them habits? Welcome to the show. It's 6.06. Oh, this is real sad. Actor Heath Ledger was found dead yesterday in his New York apartment. They believe it was an accidental overdose of prescription medication. The Padres give General Manager Kevin Towers a two-year extension. I wonder if there's anybody hearing about the Heath Ledger thing for the first time right now. I did. You just heard it right now? You didn't know, bro? Wow. Whoa. I was wondering that, man. I was wondering how many people... Would not have heard this news, but there must be a lot of people hearing it right now. They think it was a drug overdose when the paramedics got there. There was pills all over the place. Pill paste. No, there was no pill paste. There was pill paste. That is a dangerous concoction. That's right. Wow. So that's going to be a big topic of conversation today, of course, Heath Ledger. But the main topic of conversation today is Ashley on American Idol last night. Oh, my. Oh, man. Talk about... I mean, I was counting down the minutes for this thing to start. Yeah. And then finally, about 40 minutes into the show, we got to see Sarah Long from San Diego. Cut 21. This is all your fault because you closed the refrigerator door. But maybe that's why I've been acting so cold. Did you ever hear of a guy named William Hung? They compared me to William Hung, which is probably the biggest insult ever. I love it. Wow.
What I did was I paused the television when her face and her name was up there, took a picture of it with my camera phone, and now that's my new contact picture when she called. That's cool. It was just surreal. It really was. It's such a trick. It's like seeing your sister on television. You're like, wow. You mean the biggest show in the world? Absolutely. It was so weird. Wow. We're watching the biggest show on planet Earth, and there's our girl. The only thing about it was I wish they'd put Ashley, but beggars can't be choosers. And I wish they wouldn't have run that Rod Stewart song underneath her. I still don't know what song she was singing. Ashley, that's the question. What were you singing? Dude, yeah. I was singing Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape, which isn't a song I even auditioned with. Do you want to know the whole process? Yeah, well, wait. We'll get into it. We'll get into it later. But basically, that's what I was singing for. Let's do this. We'll wait till the 7 o'clock hour. We'll give away everything we couldn't talk about up till now. We'll talk about...
At 7 a.m., Ash can talk now. Yeah, but basically the Gwen Stefani Sweet Escape song, which is the song I was singing, was what I'm assuming was the montage song because they made everybody that went that day learn that song like a different verse. Really? And so I had to learn a verse in a matter of a half hour and then sing it. That's why you weren't so smooth. And that's why I forgot the lyrics. How dare they? It wasn't my best performance. Right. What did you want to sing? Well, I sing James Bond, You're Beautiful, too. They just didn't choose to air that. So that's a song that you chose, because that's in your tone. Probably because it sounded good. Yeah. That would go against the whole... That's totally why. Well, she's good. Now, you wanted to do You're Beautiful, because that's sort of within your tone, right? Yeah. That's, yeah, much more in my tone, definitely. Give me just a second of it. Just a second. I don't want too much, but... I've been doing this all morning for interviews. She's been doing radio interviews across the country all morning on the phone. I guess I can do it one more time. Go ahead, Ash. My life is brilliant. My love is pure. Thank you. Thank you. You know, guys,
It's really hard to keep up sometimes. Yeah. All right, Seth. Send out a blast. Okay. If you saw Ashley last night, give us a call. 570-1053 if you watched Ashley on American Idol. Send out a blast that says Ashley gives the real deal on American Idol just after 7. Craziness. Seeing our friend on TV last night. It's crazy. Craziness that she's doing radio interviews. Ash. In these radio interviews, see if they'll let us be on the line and listen in. You know, so do them live on the air, but just let us listen in. I think she's done. You're done? Her tour is over. She's like been doing them for the last hour and a half. Really? Yeah. Holy Toledo. Are you serious? Oh my gosh. Yeah, she came in early. Huge markets too, like Detroit. Oh my. I mean, they all want to talk to her. That's gigantic. Awesome. 570-1053 is our phone number.
My name is Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I'm 37. My best friend of 20 years is Eddie. He's our producer and sports guy, and he is 34. Sky is our news girl, 30 years old. Sean, who I can't see on the camera. What's going on with the camera? You can't? Uh-uh. I can see you. I see him. Sean is 37. He does sound effects. Let's see. Ashley is a television star, and she is 24 years old. Sarah Lung. Let's see. Boston Rob, 25, engaged to be married. Phone screener. Good friend of Zeth's. And then there's Zeth. He's 22, and he's a good friend of Rob's. So if you want to know who we are and what we do, there you go. Let's see. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, it's Theo and Josh. What's going on? What's up, Josh?
Hey, I just want to say, Ashley's performance on Saturday was pretty cool. It was almost like watching your retarded sister try and succeed at something, but you know she's going to fail. You just can't help but be proud. Wow. It's hurtful, but... Yeah, it's very hurtful, but... Well, she sounded like Gray Man. What do you expect? Well, hey, listen, it wasn't the song she chose. What do you expect? Yeah. You just heard her crank out. You try learning Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape in 30 minutes and then performing it in front of Nigel Lithgow. Yeah, try that. The judge from So You Think You Can Dance. You try doing that, bro. Yeah, bro. Pressure. It's called pressure. That's right. And it's harder than it looks. That's right. Some of us are capable. I know I make it look easy, Mike, but it's harder than it looks. That's right. Everyone gunslingers on the line. It's not easy.
I just wanted to let you know, I was watching it last night, and it was hilarious. My fiance is up in Washington, and he actually called me after she went on and said, oh, my God, I think Ashley from the Mikey show was just on American Idol. It was hilarious. That's awesome, man. I was hearing from my family up in the Bay Area, freaking out. Oh, really? So proud. Yeah. My brother Mark called me, and he wanted to know, you know, he had just watched it, and he said, Tell me what her real name is again because I'm texting my friend Mark and I want to tell him to look out for her real name. He had a million questions. All of his questions, by the way, will be answered after 7 o'clock. He wanted to know what Simon, Paula, and Randy were like, what they looked like in person. He wanted to know how long this process took, how long she had to be there. He said, what is...
What's all that stuff that you said that they made her sign? What's it for? So we'll find out all about it. Didn't you find it really interesting that they went from Qualcomm Stadium all of a sudden to the Rancho Bernardo Inn? Yeah. Interesting. Yeah. So we'll find out what that's all about. P1 Paparazzi is on the... Oh, that was pretty quick, Eddie. P1 Paparazzi used to come to our appearances and take a lot of pictures. Why do I feel like giving the camera the finger? Why do I feel like giving the camera the finger? Your name is Brad, and P1 Paparazzi, what's going on? Dude, I was disappointed. After all the build-up and everything, they gave her, like, a 10-second clip, practically. I was expecting them to kind of center, like, have her walking in the door, asking her questions, go through the whole interview, but that was, like, a small little clip-it. Well, I mentioned yesterday, Brad. I hope that they do this. I hope that they do that. But I also mentioned a million times, we didn't know what they were going to do until we watched it last night. We didn't know. But it was at least a 60-second montage. No, it wasn't. It was about a half a minute. But, you know, we didn't know what to expect. And so if you went into it with an expectation, yeah, you'd probably be let down.
Well, yeah, because they were promoing it like crazy, like she was going to be the star of the night, you know, the way that Fox was promoing it. That's why I said yesterday, I said, you know, who knows? I said, I hope that it's not just a real quick blip. I hope it's something. Maybe it'll be, hey, maybe they're going to make this into be gigantic. We've been seeing these promos, but you don't know, you know, you never know what they're going to do. She's much more interesting than that freakazoid with the fans that was like, yeah, I bother with that. Yeah. And from what we're hearing, apparently there was real talented people in San Diego because they said like 30 people from San Diego made it to Hollywood. They liked it here. Yeah. Must be talented people there. And I thought that chick with the tattoos was real good too. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was good, right? Oh, yeah. Real good. P1 Dog Lover. Hi, this is P1 Dog Lover. I just wanted to say the same thing Brad said. I waited and waited for her. I only watched it because she was going to be on it. Told all my friends about it. And then I was disappointed. I wanted to see more of her. I would have rather seen her than the talented ones. Trust me, man. I would have rather seen her walk in there and do the whole spiel, too. Trust me. Yeah. Like, I wanted them to mention, like, what do you do for a living? Tell us something about yourself. Something.
Oh, man. That's what I was hoping for. We can do that live right here anytime you want. That's okay. It's all right. We already know what you do. We know what you do. I work in radio. Yeah, we got it. I really enjoy walks on the beach. Thank you very much. I'm really into hip-hop dancing and yoga. Thank you very much, Ashley. Thank you. Thank you. My favorite color is blue. Thank you, Ashley. What kind of questions were they asking you on the radio interviews that you were doing? A lot of people... Yeah, it was really interesting because going from, like, place to place, like, some of the people were, like, extremely energetic, and then I'd go to the next morning show, and they'd be like, hey, what's up? And it was really funny, like, the vibes. Right. So some of the people... I heard somebody ask you if you were for real. Some of the people... were trying to get it out of me. Was it a bit? Were you just trying to do it for attention? Were you just trying to do it for press? Was this a stunt? Is this fake? So you were just trying to get on to be funny, to sound stupid. What did you say? I told him no. What you should have said is...
What you should have said is, what I'd really like to do is take this opportunity to tell you all about the Church of Scientology. Just broken into it. That's right. But then the other half of them were very into it, you know, and they were very all about it and wanted me to sing. Those were the AC stations. Yes, you can totally tell the difference. Like, we would have been the ones, you know, pushing, like, okay, so was it a bit, like, come on, be honest, tell me, what's up? And, like, you know, so it was really interesting to see the two totally different dynamics of a morning show. Yeah, the AC morning shows. Hey, good morning! Oh, they were like, hey, what's going on? Oh, it's fantastic. Hey, we saw you last night, and we gotta admit, you were looking good, but the singing may not be what you want to do for early. You might stick with that day job. Oh, don't say that, Mikey. See you. We are. We're all thinking it wrong. That was Simon. Hey, let me ask you a question there. Ashley. Is it Ashley or is it Sarah? Sarah Ashley. Sarah Ashley. Okay, guys. For the record, Sarah Ashley. I was wondering. I'm glad that we don't do that. Yeah. I really am glad that we don't do that. And then there was one interview where they were kind of punks and they were really trying to be a jerk.
So I kind of started messing with them back, and then they didn't know what to do. What station? It was my second interview. What city? Gosh, what was their names? Just give me the city, and I'll tell you the station. Detroit? No. That was the last one you did, I thought. Oh, then I don't know. Arizona? Michigan. Michigan. Michigan. Somewhere in Michigan. Detroit's in Michigan, but... I want to say maybe Michigan. You don't have a list? Because they were very much like downtrodden and I was like, oh, you know, where are you at? And they're like, Michigan. I'm like, oh, is it cold? That's why you're in a bad mood. Really? Is that what you said to mess with them? I didn't say that verbatim, but I was like, oh, is it cold there? Is that why you're a little gloom or something like that? Right. They were coming at me very like, hello, how's it going? So, you know. I wish I could have heard it. Oh, man, I wish I could have heard it. And then they were flat out like. Oh, so you suck on purpose to get on? Is that what your deal is? Oh, wow. We know what your deal is. So what did you say? Making the jokes. They were laughing at me. Right. And so I just... What did you say? I just told them the truth. I was like...
No, I didn't do it to suck. They didn't even play the audition that I went for. And then he made some comment. I was like, you just make a dirty joke. I was like, are you being bad? What's going on with you, buddy? I love it. You're being a little naughty. That's right. He was like, obviously you do this for a living, don't you? Because you can keep up. And I was like, yeah, you better believe it. I so want to know who and where. They were being mean, dude. They were trying to mess. Find out. Find out. They were trying to mess with me, like thinking I'm some stupid little blonde girl, like, and it was funny. We got news for them. Yeah, we did. I told them. There you go, Ash. P1 Nafina? Yeah, hi. I just wanted to congratulate Ashley. I thought she was awesome. Her performance was great. And you know what, Ash? Don't worry about what anybody else says because we all love you anyway. Thanks, Mama. Nice, Nafina. P1 Patrick is on the line. Patrick, what's up? Hey, what's going on, Mikey? Yeah, I was just saying that all of us, all my friends and I watched American Idol last night. We've never watched it before because we were not interested in it, but we're also loyal fans of the Mikey show. We decided to watch it last night just for you, Ashley. Very nice. Thank you so much. No problem. Awesome. That means a lot. Let's see. P1 Mario. Mario. Mikey. Yeah. How you doing, Mikey? I did the same thing. I promoted Ashley yesterday at my work. I was telling my guys, you guys got to watch it. I think she took a sip and called her dream.
Props to you, Ashley. We love you. There you go. Nice. Very positive. I love you. P1 Becky. Appreciate it. All your fans. I know. Thank you. Keep them coming, Mike. Becky, are you there? I'm here. Go ahead. You're on the air. Ashley, I just want you to know you got love coast to coast, even in Baltimore. Oh. Even in Baltimore? Are you listening online? I love it. No, I watched last night, and Ashley is a longtime family of mine, and I love her. Oh, my gosh. It's my cousin. Becky. Oh, that's crazy. Is your cousin in Baltimore? Yeah. Is she listening? Are you listening online, Becky? Becky, are you listening online? I'm at work. Yep, I'm listening online. Oh, my gosh. That's cool. Were you proud of your cousin last night? I was. I was so proud of her. She was so beautiful. And I don't care. You were nothing like William Hung. Thank you. That's right. A little worse. Shut up. She was a little bit like. Thanks for calling in back. Thank you, Becky. Sure. Have a good day. Love you.
Love you, too. Love you, too. Don't try to scam me. I'm trying to get in on that. I always try to break into love. I know. It's like a drive-by lover. Well, we're all very proud of her. And just after 7 o'clock, we're going to find out exactly what that process is about. I'll give you all the juice. All the inside. It's not what you think. It is not what you think. It is not what you think. Let's see. So the other big thing, this Heath Ledger deal. Wow. Let's see, my wife called me yesterday. I was going to the therapist and stopped by Starbucks first. And she called me in the Starbucks and she goes, are you already at your appointment? I said, no, I'm at Starbucks getting a coffee. And she goes, well, I just saw on the news that Heath Ledger died. And I go, and instantly I recognized the name Heath Ledger. But my brain is not putting a face or who it is. In fact, the first thing I thought was news. Like, that name sounded very newsy to me. Like, good evening, it's 10 o'clock, I'm Heath Ledger, coming up next on the News 8. And so I'm like, Heath Ledger. I go, who's Heath Ledger? And she goes, you know, the gay cowboy from Brokeback Mountain. I go, holy Toledo. I go, that guy died? She goes, yeah. I go, of what?
She goes, I don't know you. And as I'm having this conversation, I hear, you know, it was loud in there. And I hear, they got that sea of music playing at the top of it. Nice. But behind the counter, I heard one of the girls say to, you know, one of the guys that was working there, they didn't hear my conversation go, hey, I heard Heath Ledger just died. And so my friend just called me and said Heath Ledger died. And they were like completely out of my conversation. So, I mean, it was. People were. And then I was texting Eddie and texting Sky. Were you happy you broke the news to me? Yeah. I mean, you were the only one I got to. Because as men, well, maybe as humans. I think as humans, what we like to do is spread the word. You like to break the story. Yeah, you like to break the story. You like to be the first one. I thought about that because you did break the story. I'm like, ah, you got me. It's tough, you know. It's tough. And then when you get it, when you're like, I got email. Girls are sneakier about it. Like guys just flat out like, hey man. Ledger's dead. But with women, women do it differently. Women are like, oh my gosh, it's so sad. Did you see that? And I'm like, sorry, already got the news. Yeah. And I broke it to Skye and Skye texted me back, knew it already or whatever you said. Yeah. You know, so. Yeah, I already knew. I couldn't get Skye. Dang it. Couldn't get Ash. She already knew too. Yeah. Damn it. But yeah, I mean, it is sad. The guy was only, how old was he, Skye? 28. Wow.
So sad. And he's about to really blow up, too, because he plays the Joker in the new Batman movie. And it's like a really creepy take on the Joker, so it's going to be really weird to watch that movie. Yeah, it's like a creepy, dark take, kind of... Gruesome and kind of gory-ish. Yes, yes. Now, he got nominated, Eddie, for an Academy Award in Brokeback Mountain. Yeah, for Ennis. For Ennis? Yeah. Ennis Dale Moore? Yep. Now, is he nominated for anything right now? No. Okay. Okay. Well, I'll tell you what, man. I just thought to myself, if he was nominated for something right now, I bet he'd win. It's real weird how the Academy works. Oh, yeah. But anyway, it is really sad. Let's see, what do we got? Do we have any details on what happened? Yeah, it was about 3.30 yesterday. Obviously, East Coast time this happened. It all went down in his apartment in New York, and he had a massage scheduled. So the massage therapist shows up, and the maid goes, oh, yeah, let me go check. Let me go get him from his room. The maid goes in his room and finds him dead in his bed. They say he was naked in his bed. There were pills around.
And then there's this weird connection to the Olsen twins. I was going to say, was he? And then I stopped and I was like, maybe I heard wrong because that's so weird that maybe I heard wrong. Yeah, there was this like all these rumors yesterday about the connection to the Olsen twins, like he was actually in their apartment or whatever. He was in Ashley's apartment. Yeah, no, not true at all. He was in his own apartment and the massage therapist. is friends with the guy who's a bodyguard for the Olsen twins who's also an EMT and I guess they live right around the corner so immediately after calling 911 the massage therapist called her friend thinking that maybe he could get there first and so you know he did show up but the police were already there and they said it looked like he had already been dead for a little while um he had been suffering from pneumonia They believe it was an accidental overdose of sleeping pills and antidepressants. Yeah, because when I first started listening yesterday, I was hearing that there were pills scattered all around. NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Brown, Cup 5.
Tell us again about the drugs that were found in the room. There was a lot of speculation or information that there were drugs scattered all around the room. Is that correct or not? No, that is not correct. There were not drugs found scattered around the apartment. There were some prescription medications, including sleeping pills, that were taken from the apartment, but they were not scattered about. A masseuse and a housekeeper. A masseuse had an appointment for about 2.45, 3 p.m. this afternoon. We were waiting for him to come out of the bedroom. When he didn't come out, they checked on him and found the body at the foot of the bed. Face down. He did an interview with a television station in Cleveland about long ago about his kid. Was he married to Michelle Williams? And then they broke up. But they have a kid together. Michelle Williams of San Diego.
And she was also on Brokeback Mountain with him. She's a movie star on her own. Well, anyway, he was on a television interview in Cleveland, and he was talking about their daughter, Cut 2. I think he also looked at death differently. It's like a catch-22. I feel good about dying now because I feel like I'm alive in her. But at the same hand, you don't want to die because you want to be around for the rest of her life. It's kind of like an interesting kind of little setup. But at the same time, you have to be here long enough to make sure she gets on her feet and discovers how the journey is supposed to go for her. She's already doing that. This is a trailer of him playing the Dark Knight in... The Joker. The Joker in The Dark Knight. Cut six. Evening, Commissioner. Why so? That sounds pretty good. You just see his face. His face is crazy. So creepy. Cut seven. You've changed things. Like me. So what is the idea of the movie, Eddie? What's the plot? I know it's Batman, but what's the story? I actually don't know. I just know that the Joker's going to be in this one. So it's not like a prequel to something? No, it's just the next chapter in the Batman story. I like that it sounds real instead of like, you know, over-the-top goofy. That sounds real. That sounds pretty cool.
Instead of having the traditional Joker makeup, which is like, you know, perfect clown face, it's like smeared on. It's like you took a giant thing of lipstick and just smeared it around. It's very gruesome. Kind of reminds me of like a Rob Zombie take on Batman. Sean, have you heard anything about it? About the movie? Yeah, and about like what it's about. No, I haven't. They got a picture of his version of the Joker right now on TMZ, and it's real creepy. Isn't that weird? Yeah, for sure. So anyway, and when does that movie come out? It's the summer. Yeah, I think it's June. I bet it's going to make about a billion dollars. Of course. This is Heath Ledger for the role he was nominated for in Brokeback Mountain Cut 8. Me and my brother, we went and got ourselves from working a ranch up near Worland until I was 19. He got married. It's strange how the mind works. When I heard about it, I was like, I wonder what Jake Gyllenhaal is going to say when he hears the news. You know, like, your mind is weird in how it works.
What questions you start wondering. I immediately thought of Michelle Williams. Yeah, yeah. I kind of did, too. Like, what are they up to? Like, are they getting the news right now? Like, the fact that, you know, they just kind of broke up. They have a daughter together. She's probably devastated. Yeah, that's actually her, the quote, that she is devastated. I wonder if she, anyone... kind of saw this coming. Yeah, I was thinking that too. Is this maybe the reason that they broke up? Well, he had a substance problem and he supposedly had been clean for like a year. That's what I heard too. But, I mean, if he's on that much stuff, like, you know, sleeping pills and antidepressants and all that stuff, I mean, just jacks with you. Coming up, we're going to give you the new parody song that Skye sung. It's called Hammond. I didn't sing it. She should have been on Idol. That is true. She was good. It's a parody to the song Jammin' by Bob Marley. We're also going to be making a big announcement this morning in just a few minutes telling you about a pretty cool prize that you can win by promoting the Mikey Show. Ashley's going to give all the dish on American Idol, the behind-the-scenes stuff she wasn't allowed to talk about. She's going to do that just after 7. We're going to play Lyrical Gangsta this morning.
For those of you that are new listening to The Mikey Show, have you ever heard of something that we do called Cheater's Hotel? Whoa. We'll be doing that this morning as a service to people who think that there may be some infidelity going on. Better to know than not. You'll find out this morning. We also have something that we're going to do on the show called Sean TV. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we got a great one today, Mike. Oh, that sounds really good. Yeah. So, yeah, Sean will be in a bunch of audio from some new show that he watches or from my A show. You personally will love it. Right. That's going to be bad. That's going to be bad. And so let's see. Well, today they're going to be at Camp Pendleton and in Escondido. So if you're up in Camp Pendleton, Scott, I know you're in Escondido, look for the big winter warm-up tour and maybe you'll be able to meet some Padres. I'm going to look for them. You should. I'm going to look for them. Absolutely. I'm going to throw my bra at them. What? Isn't that what you're supposed to do? To show that you're a big fan? Yes. Okay. Yes, please do. Okay. All right. If you want to see Sky's bra, of course, you can do that, too. Again, go to Padres.com for more details. The Mikey Show. Featuring the creative genius of Boston Rob. B-Rob is a recording artist. You know it. Singer slash writer slash producer. That is true. And he's written a new song. Sky was gracious enough to record it. It was tough to get her in there, though. There you go. Out there. All of you. I'm humming off my mind.
I like a honey bag. Oh, yeah. I'm hamming, hamming, cause a ham is my favorite food. The Mikey Show continues. Rock 105.3. That's catchy. I was hoping for drama queen. You were? But you heard it start, didn't you? I was like, alright. Welcome back. It's 642. A van suspected of carrying illegal immigrants crashed yesterday, injuring six people after being chased by the Border Patrol. Mike Holmgren announces he will return to coach the Seattle Seahawks next season. A couple of things. Just after 7 o'clock, we're going to tell you about how Ashley was on American Idol last night. And also, Ashley's going to reveal every secret she couldn't talk about until the show aired. We're also going to be giving you updates and stuff as we get it on this Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger died yesterday. And also, don't forget.
We are blogging as a group every day. The Mikey Show, every single member of the show is blogging every single day. And if you want to read our blogs, you can go to MikeyShow.com, M-I-K-E-Y, S-H-O-W.com, and type in the keyword, blogs. Blogs. Blogs. Also, Zeth, can you put a keyword up for me right now? Yep. I need you to put, Sean has, video of Ashley on American Idol last night. So if you didn't see Ashley on American Idol last night, you can see her at the website, the video. Sean put the video up of her on the show. Awesome. So let's make it a keyword. Okay. Let's make it keyword Ashley, and it's Ashley with two E's. Okay. So when you go to MikeyShow.com, just type into the keyword section, Ashley, A-S-H-L, and it'll take you right to the page where the video is.
Now, before we went to break, I said that there's a new song, new parody song. As you know, Rob is not just a singer, he's a singer-songwriter. And so he wrote a new song. Sky was gracious enough to sing the song. She was the inspiration for it as well. That's true. And it's to the tune of Jammin' by Bob Marley, and it's pretty good. How dare you ruin it. Sky, you're a great singer. I think you did ruin it. She really likes ham. What do you mean? Apparently. She's making classes. There's no such thing. Hamology class.
Glaze 101. You have to get so many semesters of certain ham classes under your belt before you can actually get your degree. There's no ham degree. Wow. So if you have any questions about ham, you know who to ask. He's an expert. There you go. Let's see. Okay, we got lots of stuff here to tell you about. We talked about Heath Ledger. Your phone call is 570-1053. Feel free to call in about anything you want. I don't know if she was trying to leave, but there was a woman in a, you know, those parking ticket people that go around giving parking tickets. A lady got mad, hit her with her car. Happened yesterday, Skye? Yeah, yesterday, kind of, you know, San Diego downtown area on West Washington Street. So I guess this woman parked in the red zone right in front of the Starbucks there on West Washington. And then as she came out of the Starbucks with her coffee,
parking enforcement officer was issuing her a ticket and um according to the officer um the woman said i don't have to wait for you because you know the officer was still writing the ticket and got in her car and went to take off and in the process hit the officer's leg with the front of her car according to the officer so um you know she phoned in the police because they're just in those like small little you know electronic parking cars So she called in the police and they chased her down and got her. And so she's 43 years old. She was arrested and will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, which is a felony. And of course, also given her parking ticket that she drove away from. She sounds a little daffy. Yeah, that's not smart at all. And I guess, you know, where they finally arrested her was her place of business and where she works. And her boss was like, yeah, you know, this woman is a great woman. And this sounds so out of character. This doesn't sound right. She claims she didn't hit the officer with her car. I don't know. Yeah, that's really bad. The Chargers fired a couple of coaches. One of them, James Lofton. This is a shock to me.
James Lofton, great receiver in his day. I think it's really cool to have a guy like James Lofton as a coach because these young receivers can ask him a lot of stuff that he's gone through. He's been on the coaching staff since 2002. Especially the way Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson really came on at the end of the season. A little surprising. I don't know if it's just because he's not a Norv Turner guy. It's strange, too, because they had a good season. Yeah, very good season. Maybe they felt like they didn't develop quickly enough or Buster Davis, the number one draft pick, didn't have a huge season. I don't know. It was really surprising, though. I'm kind of disappointed. They also fired their running back coach, Matt Simon. Yeah, which, again... The running backs, I thought, had great seasons, especially a guy like Darren Sproles, who wasn't expected to do anything at the running back position, had a great season. And, you know, just surprising that they made those moves. There was other spots I felt like if you were going to fire a coach, they could have done. Roger Federer rolls into the Australian Open, and he beats James Blake in straight sets. Yeah, James Blake, you know, the big American hope.
You know, he ended up beating him. He's already in the semifinals. Nobody talks about Roger Federer very much, you know, because nobody cares about men's tennis. But this guy's about to pass Pete Sampras on the all-time, like, titles list. Yeah, he is. For Grand Slams. Nice. I mean, he's basically the Tiger Woods of tennis, and nobody talks about him. He's the best. Ashley likes two things, baking and, well, dogs. Penguins. Hip-hop dancing. Hip-hop dancing and tennis. And yoga. And tennis. Fergie. Fergie and Gwen Stefani. Gwen Stefani. And tennis. And her dad. Her dad is America. Yes. Going green. And her dog, Sammy. I love her. Flooding her apartment. I don't know. I thought we were naming things she likes. Don't forget cereal. Oh, you son of a bitch. Not today. This is my special day. This is my day, man. If you want to interview me, do it on the phone, man. Talk to my rep. I don't need this. That's right. He'll get everything lined up. We're going to tell you in just a few minutes how you can win something pretty cool. We're going to be giving away something pretty cool on the Mikey Show. We'll tell you in just a little bit. Mike Holmgren's going back to the Seahawks. And in baseball,
Kevin Towers is going to be with the Padres for at least another two years. Yeah, they gave him a two-year extension, so he'll be here until 2010. And the Padres, they've won four National League West titles and one pennant under Kevin Towers. So, you know, he's doing the job. My only thing, which you've heard me complain about many times, is that we don't spend money on free agents, and we don't seem to be getting these big-name... players and you know our big signing this year jim edmonds i mean is he you know jim edmonds great player in his day but i mean guys if i think he's pushing 40 and he's going to be our center fielder this year great great guy but is that going to put us over the top and get us a world series no man so telling you man you know great kevin towers does a great job of finding guys that kind of do great roles. And he does a decent job at developing players in the minor league system. Jake Peavy, obviously a big one. But it's just a bummer that we don't... And it's not Kevin Towers' fault that we're not signing big names. It's money, right? It's John Moore. He's got to deal with what he's got money-wise. Kelly Pickler went on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Oh, no. What? Do you think everybody's pretty sure?
Kelly Pickler is. For the most part, yeah. She came in like 141st place on American Idol. Her whole thing was like, you know, I'm dumb and blonde and, you know, hick, country singer, blah, blah, blah. I'm real airhead. And after American Idol, somebody signed her to make a record and it sold a few records, too. She did pretty good. She got breast augmentation surgery with some of the money that she... Allegedly. Well, I think there's exhibit A and B. we have eyes uh... but here she was on jimmy kimmel last night at fifty four i heard you just ran across the street to buy an article of clothing oh wow you just embarrassed me even more true and that was that article of clothing was an undergarment rarely do we have the guests go to the store while they're here so it seemed seemed like something i could remark on and you went to buy a bra yes
Yes. Why do you, why would that, why? Yeah, I want to know more. Like, did she show up without a bra? Yeah. Did a bra break? Would a bra break? Well, it could, but it would happen. Those things are made kind of tough. Well, yeah. You've tied my leading pole. You know, that new Ford truck holds like 38,000 pounds. They say it's built Ford Tough. You know what I mean? Maybe that's the problem. They're heavy, man. Yeah, they're too heavy. They're like bags of sand. Apparently. Celebrity has made a spoof video of the Tom Cruise thing that got out. Beat me to it. You know what I'm saying? You know the Tom Cruise video. Yeah. version of it. We'll play it when we come back. And we'll tell you this announcement about this cool thing we're giving away. So it's all next.

Why no bag lady? Sean. I'm a giant fat guy. That's ridiculous. Boston Rob. Boston Rob here with you. And P1's Listen Up, man. And Ashley. I'm a really good speaker. Yes. The Mikey Show's on. All right, we're all hilarious. Rock 105.3. It is 7.03. Britney Spears' paparazzi boyfriend went on Entertainment Tonight and said that their pregnancy scare was real. Jerry Jones says Terrell Owens is coming back to the Cowboys next season. A $3 million roster bonus to T.O. Oh, wow. All right, so before we went to the break, we were talking about the Tom Cruise video that came out last week. It was all over YouTube, man. It was a gigantic thing on YouTube. And we played some of the audio here on the air. I mean, it made it to every real news source. It was a real news story, not just an entertainment thing, that Tom Cruise video.
It was on major news deals. And so, apparently, Jerry O'Connell. Awesome. Now, what do you say? Jerry O'Connell from, what is he on? Well, he was on some show. Oh, he's on Crossing Jordan. He was on the TV show Crossing Jordan. Sliders. He was on Sliders. That was a good one. He was actually in Jerry Maguire with Tom Cruise. Oh, that's right. Played Kush. Yep, that's right. He was in Jerry Maguire. And his brother was the guy that was one of the Bachelors on the TV show The Bachelor. Yeah, he just got married to Rebecca Romaine. So, Jerry O'Connell is the actor. And this is part of the parody that he made. Oh, he's in that show Carpoolers that's on ABC. Oh, that's right. Is that new? Yeah, it's on ABC. There you go. Now, here is a viral video that's going around right now of Jerry O'Connell doing the Tom Cruise video. Cut 40. It is an honor. Because you can't see it, he recreated everything. Oh, it's great. It's awesome. Dude, he's wearing the black turtleneck that Tom Cruise has on. His hair is the same. And he's doing the body movements. You know, he's got the deal on the bottom of the screen like they do. It's just, it's hysterical. Unpause. That's pretty cool.
Pretty funny. That's good. Yeah. You can watch that at funnyordie.com. Oh, that's great. Can we steal it? Are we allowed to do that? I don't know. Can we steal it? Stick it on our site, Sean? Are we allowed to do that? Yeah. We can link it. If we're not allowed to do it, then do it. Oh, it's so good. That way it makes it way more interesting. But yeah, you got to see it. Actually seeing it is different. Now, speaking of YouTube, we're not going to tell you... Our plans. We are doing something called M-Tube. It's like YouTube, but as in Mikey. It's called M-Tube. And the idea of it is that you are going to make a video promoting the Mikey show in some way. Now, I'm going to tell you right now, what Jerry O'Connell did was brilliant. I'm jealous. I'm so jealous. If you can think of something that's out there.
visual right now that's huge and and and even stuff from the past like you know think chocolate rain and doing your own mock version of chocolate rain or if you're a chick and you you are like shaving your head like britney yes something like that yeah you know recreating stuff and doing parodies of stuff is always going to get people's attention people love it i love it everyone loves it So that's a good idea, you know, to do that. Or even the Scientology Tom Cruise video. Everyone has seen it by now. Think of stuff on TV that everybody has seen. Or come up with your own idea. You can come up with your own idea. I mean, maybe you're able to get video proof of you being in the background of some big event or doing something like that, okay? Now, if you can, what we want you to do is make this video. And it must be three minutes in length or less. And then we need you to post it on YouTube and then get it to us. So it's a two-part. You post it on YouTube, you get it to us. And it's all promoting the Mikey Show. That's it. The idea is to promote the Mikey Show. Now, you post on YouTube, then you send it to us, and there's going to be directions on our website on how you can do that. However...
We won't even start accepting videos until Monday. This Monday coming up, which is the 28th. So you have a few days to get the ball rolling. You don't have to deliver it to us by the 28th. We're going to give you two weeks. We're going to take two weeks to take your entries. And then after that, what we're going to do is we're going to pick the five best ones. And we're going to let P1s vote on which one they like the most. And the person that gets the most votes is going to win a brand new high-definition camcorder. Wow. That's awesome. Dude, I'm telling you. That one went so bad. They are absolutely fantastic. They're true to life. They're crystal clear. They are absolutely beautiful. Now, just think to yourself, the very camcorder that you're going to be using to make this video can be replaced by a high-definition one. And maybe you have a high-definition one now. You go, I'm creative. I want a new one. I just want one. I want to win. The idea is promote the Mikey Show through making a viral video. That's so cool. Those are going to be great. I love it. Our P1s are so creative. Oh, dude. They're going to be so fun. For sure. Make the video, get it on YouTube, and then get it to us. And we're going to start posting them online. People will be able to look at all the different ones.
You know, the idea is of the Mikey show. We've always told you this. If you love the Mikey show and you're a P1, a priority one listener, somebody that turns your radio down, gets the point and doesn't cuss, listens for long periods of time, not just for five minutes. A P1 is also somebody that turns new people onto the Mikey show. And I feel as I'm saying it right now, I haven't said it in a while. I feel really like I haven't. This is a way to do it. Ashley on American Idol. That's a way to let people know about the Mikey show. Because people see it, even though it doesn't say the Mikey show on it, people see it, they talk about it, and it's always referenced in the context of the Mikey show. So that's what you need to do. You need to somehow, virally, market the Mikey show for us. And for your efforts... The winner's going to get a brand new HD camcorder. Got to thank our friends over at Cricket Wireless for making all this possible. They're helping us out with all this. Just good people over there. I think specifically Pedro played a really big role. He's big into YouTube. Yeah, that's true. Always posting videos. He really is. Which a lot of them we can't really put on the radio. But they're funny if that's your thing. I mean, I'm a different guy now.
Some of the YouTube stuff he puts up, Pedro, but a few years back, it still would have been too much for me. I'll be honest with you. Inter-species stuff. It's creepy. Who knew crickets could get into so much trouble? Or fit into that. Oh, well, hey, let's not. 570-1053 is our phone number, and give us a call whenever you like. This is the Mikey Show. Cricket Wireless. Mach 105.3. Do you buy Sleep Train Mattress Centers. Looking at some tough spots on our freeways here this morning. However, we are getting wet with a dry ride. That's something in favor for our commute this morning. But South 15 still working on a motorcycle accident near Market Street. Pretty much now out of the way, but traffic is still backed up in the area. and a traveler is affected advising you to avoid it if you can. Coming up into the South Bay, you've got some traffic on the northbound 5 out of Chula Vista up to National City. Some more stuff on the bridge getting into Colorado once again this morning. It's 8.05. Boy, give yourself some extra time if you're traveling on that freeway out of the South Bay this morning. That is crawling in single digits here from Chula Vista up past the South Bay freeway all the way almost in the Mission Valley. There's a bad accident blocking the right lanes just before the 8 freeway causing a major backup. Try to get yourself into that or around that as best you can. Again, the 5 freeway, a much better way to go. Out of the East County, the West 94, you'll find the usual break nights stacking up now from Massachusetts Avenue out of Lemon Grove to the 805. West 8 hasn't been too bad. Still a little bit tight from Spring Street, out towards Lake Murray, then you're on your way. South 15, you've got a brief delay in the Escondido, then again through Rancho Bernardo. Pretty tough, though, down the coastline. Once again, on South on 5, that's crawling from La Costa, pretty solid down to Solana Beach. I'm McLaurin's on Rock 105.3. Casting from the
Wireless Studios. Stupid show, okay? KIOC San Diego. In case you missed it, this is a Mikey moment. With the mummifying of the hand. You know, with the toilet paper. Why do you do that? No, I like to just be extremely in what I use in the restroom. Have you considered maybe like a latex glove? Considered any of the 800 things that I do on a daily basis. Have you? That makes sense. Then get off my case. Go green. Yeah. This is the thing I've always said about liberal politics. Personally. Do as I say, and let me wipe as I wipe. Wait, that's not the same. Do as I say, do as I say, not as I wipe. Welcome back. It is 7.20.
Some good news for the family of injured San Marcos football player Scott Evelyn. He will be allowed to remain at the hospital for at least three more weeks. Tampa Bay Buccaneers extend head coach John Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen's contracts through 2011. Let me just let you know, you can see our blogs right now if you want to by going to MikeyShow.com, M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com. And I also want to let you know that all you do is type in keyword blogs. It's very easy. Keyword blogs. Ashley was on American Idol last night. Hopefully you were able to see her. Let me play you the clip. Cut 21. They compare me to William Hung. Which is probably the biggest insult ever. What you feel?
How great was that? So sad. How great was that? And I was, you know what? I was pretty pleased about the coverage that we've got. Although last night we were hoping that she was going to be on the Fox 6 News. She didn't make it on the Fox 6 News. And there was some confusion with it. I was bummed because we told everybody that she was going to be on it. But the one cool thing is that they were talking about her this morning on Fox News. From the judges. And then they took her visa. And then she had to go back to Europe, and she came back and tried again and got through. Oh, that's very cool. It was a good story. Well, check this out. There's those stories, and then there's this one. Fans of the Mikey Show on Rock 105.3 saw a familiar face last night on American Idol. Many might know Ashley for her unusual singing ability. And if you missed it last night, take a look. What do you think of that, Ashley? Let me pause there and just ask you. What do you think of that? When she says unusual, are you media? That's not the word I would have just said. Yeah, you know, the media. You know, they have their own spin on things. Yeah, but Ashley, we all know. It's wording, but whatever. She considers herself a good singer, and in every respect, like you could do salsa music, you can do anything. Yeah. Sexy. So, you know, there she is. You're fucked because you closed your vision and drove it out.
I had a chance to hang out a little bit with the guys on the Mikey show. She's an absolute sweetheart, but they have a full, long-running bit where they have Ashley sing songs on the Mikey show and have people guess what the song is. I mean, and I haven't gotten one of them yet. Oh, you haven't? No. Mark, well, we barely do, Mark. Oh, come on. So, Ashley, we love you, honey, but, you know, keep singing for laughs. It's good TV, good radio. That's right, and you're a sweetheart, so. Still ahead. There you go. Really? There it is. Good coverage. Thank you. And we want to thank Mark. He's a good dude, man. The guy over there. They all are. And it's very nice. So Ashley, okay, we got about a million questions for you because we were not able to talk about anything that happened involving American Idol up until now. Right. And so the number one question is, what were Randy, Simon, and Paula like in person? I never met them. You never met them? But I just saw Randy say that thing to you. Yeah, see, when we see you on TV, it looks like you're talking to Randy, Simon, and Paula. Exactly. So what happened? Yeah, that's why you have to imagine how I've been tripping out this past week because I haven't been able to tell anyone that. And to see my face on that promo, I was like, this is going to be interesting to see how they spin it last night. But
But basically, from beginning to end, what happens? Yeah, give me a story from beginning to end. We'll get there of what happens. The way that it kicks off is you go the first day, and I mean, like thousands of people, just to get a wristband, just to be able to come back the next day to do your first audition. So me and Zeth probably waited six hours. Because Zeth went with you just as a buddy to hang out and do your support. Right. Because sometimes, you know, when we watch American Idol... We see that a family member's there. Somebody's there with you. Well, that's different. Well, yeah, but we didn't know. We thought that potentially Ashley could go... Meet them that day. Yeah, and meet them that day. So that's why Zeth was with her. So you sit out there, you get the wristband, and then what happens the next day? So then we came back the next day bright and early. We got there at 4.30 a.m., and I believe I sang for the judges at 4.30 p.m. Oh, wow. So it was an insane day. Now, when you say you sang for the judges, do you mean Randy? Andy, Simon, Paula in a room? No, no, no, no, no, no. What do you mean? Far from that. Well, the way that it worked was they brought us all in, and I'd say probably by about 9 a.m., all of the people were in, and we were all stuffed, like, right in front of Qualcomm. And that's when they had us do the, welcome to sunny sales. Right, right, right.
We all cut that, and that probably took about an hour. Then they file us all into Qualcomm, and there's like 30,000 of us. And we all get our seats. Everyone has seats. We fill up about half the stadium. And then in the center of the stadium, there's like 13 little tents lined up, and there's like two producers sitting in each tent. And the way they had it, they had us all warm up. We were singing like, you know... That's Mamas and Papas song or that Sunshine song or whatever. Sunshine, which one are you talking about? What's that song by the Mamas and Papas? Oh, Sunday, Sunday. Monday, Monday. What is that song? Tuesday, Wednesday. Saturday, Friday. Something with California. Oh, it was California. California dream. Something like that. It was like a really basic song. We were supposed to know the lyrics coming to know that. So we all warm up singing that song, like the whole 30,000 of us. Then, around 10 a.m., they start doing the auditions. And they just bring everyone down. They start at the left side. And they go, go, go. And the remainder of the day was just waiting. And the way they did it was four people at a time, like cattle call. And they just lined them up.
Four people, probably lines of like seven. Okay. So like 28 people per booth. There's like 13 booths. And they're just knocking them out. Knocking them out. Four people at a time walk up. And then you step forward. You sing for 10 seconds. You step back. The next person goes. And then they'll bring the four people up. And they go, yes, no, no, yes. Question. Last night on television, you sang a snippet from a Gwen Stefani song. So were you, for the judges at Qualcomm, were you singing Gwen Stefani or a song, a different song? Different song. What did you sing? I sang James Blunt, You're Beautiful. Now, I don't know if you guys have ever heard her sing it. It's actually, it's not bad. She's pretty good at it. Thanks. Ash, give us what you gave the judges that day that got you through to the next level. Well, I'll do the exact audition because I kind of forgot the lyrics. Okay. Oh, no. Yeah, which, can you believe that? Like, I practiced for 12 hours, but it's so nerve-wracking. Right. All right, so this is basically how it sounded because I forgot the lyrics. My life is brilliant. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you. Thank you, Ashley. That's how it went. Like, I totally flubbed, right? So I thought I was screwed. Right, but they heard what we heard, and they were like, well, she's obviously got talent. Well, what they told me was...
Maybe she forgot a couple of words, but it's clear. We hear what the deal is. We hear the tone. We know that if we're the right producer. Well, that's not what they told me. That's not what they told me. So what did they say? That's not what they told me. What did they say to you? Well, they pretty much turned down, first of all, all three people I was with. Gone. Because for every person that made it through, I would say 500 didn't. So they just said to the three people standing next to you, they said... Get out. So we each sing, and they pull us up, and they say to the one girl, they go, you know what, we like your voice, but you don't have the full package. And then they go to another guy, you know, you're too, like, theatrical. And then they go to another guy who was actually a P1. Really? Uh-huh. And he was like, you know, you've got a nice tone, but you just don't have, you're good, you're not great. Right. So they're all gone, and it's just me. Okay. And these two chick producers, they're like, All right, so this is the deal with you. They're like, you're in luck because we are probably going to be doing this year a James Blunt montage. I know it's in the works. So you picked a great song. You're in luck because you picked a James Blunt song. We're going to put you through for the montage. So congratulations. You made it through to the next one. Look at you, and you must have been so excited. Oh, I was freaking out because...
You have your arms open for Simon like you're going to hug him any second. It's crazy. I'm waiting for Seacrest to interview you. That's right. You're going to Hollywood. And I'm like, this is nuts. And then because for every gold ticket, the whole 30,000 people watching cheer because it's so rare. You should have asked him at that point. You should have said, am I going to be signing a contract today? Yeah. When do I record my album? Yeah. When do I meet Clive? Yeah. So then they take me back, and I signed my life away. That's when they had me sign, like, 15 papers. Is it really? Like, if you had to put a number on it, how many pages do you think it was? I counted, and it was 12. You counted? Wow. You signed 12 pages? Did you read it? Wait a minute. You can count to 12? Not now, Rob. Not now, Rob. Not now. I'm sorry. Just let her shine. I'm sorry, Ashley. Continue on. Please. We can try to steal the thunder. He's jealous. It's jealousy talking. It's jealousy talking. Don't blame him. I'm very proud of him. That's right. I mean, how many songs has he... All the way to 12. He's a Mr. Recording Artist every year. He's made like four songs in the past week. How many American Idol segments have you been? I don't see your butt on TV, bro. Exactly. Burned. So anyway, so you signed all these documents. Anyways, back to me.
So you sign all these documents. Yeah, I signed like 12 documents. Signed my life away. Yeah. And it was like, you cannot talk about anything having to do with any of this process until after the episode wrote. Did you try to say that your name was Ashley? Yeah, well, I told them what I did, you know, and then they were like, they were like on the fence about it. Like, I almost thought it was going to help make it so that they weren't going to put me through. Because I almost thought... That they were going to get scared that I was doing some kind of trying to be a funny bit. Well, that you would do this, basically. That we would talk about it the way that we give away all the secrets. But, you know, they didn't realize that I was really taking it seriously. I didn't want that to ruin my chance at my dream. Well, she's taking it seriously. If you can sing, you can sing. That's something that you're given. That's a gift. And I just didn't want my job. Sometimes when I'm lying in bed as you get it all out. You like to return the gift. Hang it forward. Kill ya. Oh, suck on that. So when do they tell you you're going to Rancho Bernardo? So then they give me the secret location, and that's Rancho Bernardo Inn. Okay, now let's pause. They say to you, after you've signed all the documents, they say to you, tomorrow go to Rancho Bernardo? No. No? No. The woman said, okay, you know, took my picture, and I signed all the papers, and she goes, all right. Polaroid picture? Really? Yeah.
Okay. And then they write your name on it kind of thing? And my number. Okay. My number. Everyone had a number. Right. And so they say, okay, you are the last person we're putting through today, which means everybody else I think had to come back the next day to go through and wait. I was the last person they put through that day because it was like 5 p.m. by this point. Wow. So I'm thinking all those people after me didn't even get a chance to... That's amazing, man. I don't even know. I mean, it's gnarly. And so they say, you're coming back when? They give me a paper and they say, you know, you're going to come back to a secret location. It's on this paper. And this is what you're going to do. And this is what you're going to wear. And what do they say? What are you going to do? What are you going to wear? And when is it? They say you're going to show up here at this time. To the Rancho Bernardo Inn. And it was in September. So it was like three months away. Okay. Oh, wow. Okay, so wait a minute. Now listen, you're getting this? So she auditions in like June, July. July. July. Yeah. And they tell her come back to the Rancho Bernardo Inn in September? Right. What? Wow. Okay, now let's do this. Let's take a quick time out. And when we come back...
She's going to tell us what happens when she goes back in September to the Rancho Bernardo Inn. I mean, you would expect she's going to walk in there. There's Simon, Randy, Paula. You know what we saw on TV, right? Right. So we'll find out what happened right after this. This show, I listen to you guys every single day. Rock 105.3 Traffic. We have a tough ride in this 805, especially this morning, so give yourself some extra time if you're traveling out of the South Bay on this freeway. Northbound, it backs up here well before 8th Street and Chula Vista. Solid, man. Just crawls in single digits in a lot of areas all the way into Mission Valley. This all started with a bad accident blocking the right lanes north 805 before the 8th freeway. It's been moved out of the way, but not before. Caught up with the commute and just made that a total mess. The 5 Freeway might be a better alternate for you, but it's still got the usual commute stuff on the northbound side from Chula Vista up to National City. Gives you a break, though, once you get in towards the 15 connector in the downtown. There's a little bit of traffic, though, getting on the bridge. Once again, a heavy ride on the bridge in the Corn Isle this morning. This West 94 King Freeway, very affected by the busy 805. That's backed up at a crawl now from the 125 through Lemon Grove all the way to that 805 connector. The westbound 8 might be a better alternate for you there.
But it does have some heavy traffic now from Severn Drive to Lake Murray. But once you get past that, you're good to go in the Mission Valley. And the coaster ride, southbound 5, staying heavy as usual out of La Costa all the way to Solana Beach. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Welcome back to The Mikey Show featuring Mikey. Actor Heath Ledger was found dead yesterday in his New York apartment. They believe it was an accidental overdose of prescription medications. Padres give General Manager Kevin Towers a two-year extension. Our very own Ashley was on American Idol last night. They had to use her real name, Sarah Long. God.
Said Sarah Longa, 24 years old, San Diego, California. She was on TV. I loved it. Cut 21. Now, what's great in the clip, you see, well, first of all, you see Randy, Paula, and Simon looking confused. and wow, is she terrible. Then they have a shot of Simon kind of with his hand on the side of his face like, what am I listening to? And then you hear the clip of Randy saying, have you ever heard of William Hung? And so you hear all this stuff. Now I'm looking, and Ashley's going to explain how it all went down here in just a second, but I'm looking at some stuff that's getting sent to us by listeners. There's some
American Idol fan sites out there, one of them this morning, one of the bigger American Idol websites, is giving quotes about the good and the bad from last night. And unfortunately, Sarah Long was listed under the bad. Oh, why? And the description of the clip is weird blonde girl who sings like a toddler with a mouth full of Gerbers. Now, you know, right off. I love you for that person. That is so funny. That person is so insensitive. I mean, really creative. Accurate and insensitive. The whole thing about the William Hung, it's not right. It's not cool, dude. I think that being compared to William Hung is an insult. It's a blatant insult. To William Hung. To William Hung? Oh, you guys. You guys. Eddie. You know that she's trying her heart out up there. Right? I sing my heart out. heart out. That's right, Ash. That's 100% true. Baby Gerber food. If you're just tuning in right now. That's what the fans said, not me. I didn't say it. What Ashley was saying before we went to break was that the way that it went down was first day she shows up, you get a wristband, gets to say that you audition the next day. Show up the next day, wait in line all day long. Finally. Five.
5.30 at night, she finally sees a couple of judges. They're all getting hurt in there. Everybody she was with got denied. They liked Ashley. They put her on to the next level. The next level takes place three months later at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Secret location. Secret location. I wasn't allowed to tell anybody where I was going. That's right. And so the only people she told were, well, all of her friends. I just told, like, all the really close people in my life around me. There you go. There you go. Can I ask a question? Yes, go ahead, Sean. It looked like you were there with someone. Can you say who that was? Oh, yeah, and that was my friend Jessica. Now, if you haven't seen it and you want to see it actually on American Idol, the actual video. Go to MikeyShow.com, M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com, and type in the keyword Ashley, A-S-H-L-E-E. It's Ashley with two E's. So she goes back to Rancho Bernardo in September, and we're thinking, oh, wow, Seacrest. Mm-hmm. Simon, Paula. So what happened the day you got there? So that day was way better in terms of the waiting and everything. We got there at about 6 a.m.? Mm-hmm.
And doors opened at like 7 or 8. So there was maybe, maybe 100 people. You know. I mean, I'd probably say they put through like a couple hundred people out of 30,000. Did they put you in one of those typical hotel, ballroom, slash conference room type? It was exactly the room that you saw. Oh, everybody's sitting down. That was the same exact place. So, I mean, I don't know when they did that, but it was exactly where I was. Like, everything that they did that you saw was exactly where I was. Picture a room where they would have a wedding reception. Big, giant room at a hotel and a bunch of chairs in there and all these contestants that are going to see the judges are all sitting there. Yeah, and so there's probably, like, and everyone was allowed to bring, you know, like, I don't know if they had a limit, but I brought my friend Jessica. So they made everybody... file everyone in and like metal detect us and put us in the room and there was probably about 100 people in the room maybe or like 50 people in the room and half the room was the family members they had to sit on one side and then the auditioners sat on the other side and I lucked out I was in like the second row so I was one of the first to audition but while we were waiting like the main head guy came in and he was the guy that like
was there the first day that had us do the big huge welcome to san diego shot and he you could tell he like really ran the show because he was very all right guys we're here to make tv show come on everybody no clapping no laughing you know by my like listen to what i say right and so he comes in and he goes all right this is the deal you guys you're gonna be popping today you're on tv we're recording a tv show remember this is number one tv show you gotta be ready have the energy and he's like i'm gonna be taking you in one row at a time uh you're gonna see your you know another round of producers so You need to learn the Gwen Stefani song. And they pass out the lyrics. And they're like, this row learned the first verse. This row learned the second verse. And that was me. Learned the third verse. All right. So now we're just posted up for like probably about a half hour. And they start taking people in for auditions. And they're like, all right, well, while you're waiting to audition, everyone just practice the Gwen Stefani song. So they shut the door. And it's like just us in there. And they put on the Gwen Stefani song, Sweet Escape, on repeat. And they just kept playing it. And I was probably in there for an hour on repeat. It did not stop. And you better believe everyone was practicing. So you're hearing all these like plethora of good and bad voices trying to learn the lyrics to Sweet Escape on repeat for an hour straight. That's crazy. Myself included. Myself included.
I was belting it out with the rest of my life. Oh, that is great. Oh, for sure. So as you're standing there, around you, are you hearing a combination of real good and real bad? Definitely. I thought I was better than a lot of the people there. I'm sure you were. No joke. The person next to me, I was way better than. And I knew it. And I kind of proved it when we were practicing. Like, I was saying them. That's it. That was, like, all in my head. You know what? You're inspiring. Yeah. Did you see anybody in that room that you saw on television last night? The tattooed girl, was she there? Did you see her? I don't remember seeing her. There was one shot of the African-American girl kind of dancing. I saw her a couple times. She was sitting next to me. She went in before me. And they put her through. She made it through to the next round, but they didn't show her. Like, I got more airtime than she did, which was weird. She made it through farther than I did. Really? But they only showed her, they didn't even show her singing. Really? They only showed her dancing for, like, a second, which is so weird to me. Wow. In her face. Okay, so you learn Sweet Escape, and what happens next? We learn Sweet Escape, and then they take my row, and they put us, okay, so we go, and we go in, and so I go into my second audition, and this is in front of three different producers in a big room. No cameras, nothing. Now, when you walk into the room, what does it look like?
an empty room and then there's a little table with three judges and they've got like laptops and paperwork in front of them type of thing. There's just three normal looking mid-30 people. You're standing in front of them. Mid-30s, yeah. Is there anything behind you? No, it's just an empty blank room with just that table in the center. So there's no American Idol banner behind you? Not yet. This is my second audition. Got it. Okay. So I go in and they're very serious. I mean like no BS. They're like, what's up? What's your name? What are you going to sing? Go ahead. And I go, hi, okay, I'm going to sing James Blunt, You're Beautiful. They go, okay, go ahead. So I sing it, and I remembered all the lyrics. And the girl just looks at me, and she looks kind of irritated, and she's like, why is your singing voice so different from your regular voice? And I go, oh, is it? It's called talent, stupid. Originality, hello. And I'm like, oh, gosh. I'm like, I don't know. I'm really nervous. I'm getting over a sinus infection. I have no idea. Is it? Is that a bad thing? I don't know. Right, right. And she goes, do you have another song you can sing? And I go, yeah, I can sing Kelly Clarkson, Since You've Been Gone. Go ahead, sing that. So I sing Kelly Clarkson, Since You've Been Gone. We'd like to hear a second of it if you could. Right now? Yeah, yeah. I want to hear what they heard because you got through to the next level. Okay. So I said, okay. So I went, here's the story. It started out.
Friends, it was cool, but it was all pretend. Yeah, yeah. Since you've been gone, you dedicated, you put me on. In the stupid last song. Yeah, yeah. Since you've been gone, since I'm gone. Are you doing that with your hands? She has to kind of guide me. She sings. She has to bounce him. She always does that. Thank you. Yeah, I do the hands when I sing. So what happened after you sang that? It helps me to write them with the lyrics. So then they do the thing where they back up and they're like papers in front of their face. They're talking. And then they turn back to me. And the girl goes, do you work for a radio station? And I go, yeah. And she goes, what do you do? Your morning show? Or what's the deal? I go, yeah, I work on a morning show. And I talk on the show. And I'm the assistant producer. She goes, mm-hmm.
So you know that you're not allowed to say anything about any of this on the show, right? Which immediately says to me, we like you, but we're a little freaked out. We're kind of worried. We're fishy. We know what morning shows are about. You're jackass. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What zoo? Exactly, yeah. What zoo are you with? We're in San Diego. We know what zoos are around here. Right? Right. And I go, oh, I go, oh my gosh, absolutely. She breaks out of it. She's like. Yeah, and so I go, oh my gosh, absolutely. I go, no, of course. I haven't said anything. I wouldn't say a word. I'm not going to say anything. Of course. Right. You know, I would never let that jeopardize this opportunity. My singing career. Right. This dream come true. Right. Like, you know, for real, for me, like, it was... A dream come true. And I don't care if people believe you're not. Like, it was. I know. We believe you. We believe you. We do. Okay. No one doesn't think it wasn't a dream come true. Jeez. You've sacrificed a lot for this career. Mackie. Mackie Matt in Michigan or whatever. See, this is. That's not fair. That's not fair. No, you're not. I shouldn't have played that one because that's not really. Not at all. What she says is her tone. Play a good one. Let me play a good one for you. Oh, wait. Make up.
Because you wanted to. Okay, so now, if you're new to the show, now you get it. She's good. Impressive. So, what happened next? So, I said, absolutely. I know that I'm not allowed to say anything to the show. And, you know, me working in radio is not going to affect this audition. Like, this is separate. Okay. So, she goes, all right, I'll put you through to Nigel. All right. Okay, thank you. Did you know what that meant, Nigel? Do you know? Now, because a lot of people listening, I know who Nigel Lithgow is. Did you know who Nigel Lithgow was at the time? I'm a huge fan. Okay, so the other TV show. He's a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. And that, of course, I mean, talk about another dream. Oh, okay. So Nigel Lithgow. I'm a huge fan of his work on that show. He is the executive producer of American Idol, but he's also, he was one of the judges and one of the executive producers of So You Think You Can Dance. So you're going, wow, I'm going into another room now. Right.
So then they take me around the corner and then I see cameras. I see backdrop. You know, I see like what you would see when the people come out of the audition and they're like, I didn't make it. Right, right, right. And like Ryan's there. I don't see Ryan, but I see that whole setup. And that's when they prep me for the TV. They're like, all right, you're going to be in front of the camera. They're like, don't say, you know, when you come out and you're talking about anything about your audition, don't say Paula, Simon and Randy. Say the judges. Like if you're talking about anything that they say, say the judges. So that's why when I went. oh, they compared me to William Hong. That's why I said that because they told me to say they as opposed to going, Nigel compared me to William Hong because they wouldn't be able to use it. Right, right, right. I'm assuming because that's how it played out. Right. So, wait a little bit more. Go in. And this was the scariest thing I've ever had to do because you opened the door. Wait, wait, wait. I'm confused. Did they encourage you to say Randy, Simon, and Paula or they encouraged you to just say they? No, no, no. They said do not say Simon, Randy, and Paula. Do not say anything just say the judges or they or they yeah and they you know they instructed us to be you know very just to remember that the camera's on us and and to be very animated and energetic got it all that so oh and then also like they prepped us with the question thing like you know if we say how did your audition go don't go it went good go my audition went well got it you know so they prepped us for that okay we're good so i go in and they're like sit on the stand on the x and so i go in there's the x there's the backdrop there's
cameramen, probably 20 people in there behind the scenes with a big camera, I mean, doing behind the scenes work. And then there's a big table right in front of that X where normally Simon, Randy, and Paula would be, but instead it was Nigel in the center with two, I think, of his British posse producers next to him on either side. And it's so funny because they all have their spectacles all the way down on their nose and they're all just staring at me. It was the most intimidating. thing ever. Even a professional like you that's, I mean, I would think you've been through something like this. I know. You would think you would faze me, but it's, everybody can get nervous. I think even, you know, Mariah Carey gets nervous before she goes on stage or Celine Dion. I see the comparison. Like, it's nervous no matter what. Or Celine or, you know. It's nervous no matter what. You can't shake that. We're talking about Streisand. So I go in and I big smile. I go, hi, Nigel. And he was like, all right, so your name's Sarah? And I go, yes. And he goes, and you're 24. And I go, yep. I go, getting up there. Dead silence. Dead silence. He doesn't even smile or what? He looks up over his spectacles at me. Right. Or over his glasses. Just kind of looks up and just kind of gives a little smirk like, fuck your troublemaker, aren't you? And I was like, and so that went terribly wrong. I'm like, oh, bad start to the audition. Bad start. So he goes, all right. I go, I just...
I'm a huge fan of your work. Before we kick this off, it's just really a pleasure to meet you. Love you on So You Think You Can Dance. Huge fan of your work. Just wanted to put that out there. And he was like, okay, thanks. What are you going to be singing today? James Blunt, You're Beautiful. So I sing it. And he goes, okay. And while I'm singing, I notice behind-the-scenes cameramen stifling laughs, holding their hands over their mouths. What is that about? They must have heard a joke or something. That was not a good song. That's not a good thing. Somebody wants to pass gas. Right, somebody, yeah. You know? Something stank. But you're like, that's not good. These guys are laughing. You can't mean good things. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, stifling laughs never get signed up. Were you wondering, are they listening to another audition that maybe isn't? I really kind of just was like, hey, I'm kind of in the middle of an audition. Like, why are you distracting me? Yeah. Rude. Rude. Hey, there. Hello. Are you on the clock? So what happened next? Class. So then he goes, okay. And he didn't say anything after that first song. Got it. And Nigel did most of the talking. So he goes, all right. He goes, so it says here that people compare you to Gwen Stefani? And I go, yeah, yeah. And he goes, who are these people? And I go, oh, like my friends, coworkers. I go, Fergie is another one, just in terms of my tone.
You know who I sound the most like? It'd be like Fergie and Gwen Stefani. Right. And he goes, let's have you go ahead and sing that Gwen Stefani song then. And that's when you did this. Cut 21. So that's what you did for them. That was it right there. Yeah. And so I did that part for them. And when I did the vocals, it was like, if I could be sweet, be sweet, I'd be free to be in my own world, own world. And I could be... So I was doing my own backups. Right. So I said, if I could be sweet, sweet, sweet. And he goes... So Nigel goes, I like how you did your own backups on that. That was really nice. Because that was really nice. He goes...
He goes, but I have to say that I'm going to need a sweet escape. That's a dead-on, Nigel. Let's go. Dead on. He goes, I like how you did your own background vocals there, but I'm going to have to say that I'm going to need a sweet escape from your singing. And there it was. There you go. And so that's when I started doing that face, where I'm just kind of smiling and blinking, because what do you say to that? Right, right, right. And he goes... You know, darling, he goes, I don't quite think you're made for an American Idol competition. You're more made for a William Hong competition. And that's when I was doing that. Right, right, right. What are you supposed to say? Like, that's rude. Yeah, I just... Piss off. I thought I was a fan of yours, Nigel. What are you doing? Right. So then what happened? So I just smiled and nodded because I didn't know how else to react. And he goes, you're an FBI agent, right? And I go, yes. And he goes... So, like, it's his job to, like, protect the country, right? Like, from anything bad going on. And I go, that's kind of wrap it up. Yeah, I mean, FBI agent. And he goes, yeah. He goes, well, he should be protecting the country, definitely. From your singing. Oh, my God. Yes. And I'm, like, thinking really necessary. Like, obviously, you're not Simon. You're not going to be on TV. Like, do you need to be doing the cheesy zingers? Yeah, you're not even Simon, dude.
Are the cheesy zingers even necessary? It's to set you up for the splicing in the judges. But at the time, she doesn't know. She's like, you know, hey, British guy, why don't you keep your blokey comments to yourself? And so I go, okay. Who are you to judge? Oh, wait, wait. You're a judge. So I just go, okay. And he goes, And he goes, and I go, are you sure? And he goes, yeah, you know, he goes, now listen, you're a very lovely girl. It was an absolute pleasure meeting you, darling, but you're not right for this competition. And I went, well, I can do another song. I can flow. Like, do you want me to flow? I'm really good at flowing. He goes, no, you can't, dear. No, you can't. You didn't get the flow for him? He wouldn't let me. I said, I was like, well, I was like, can you let me flow? I'm really, I can flow. You know, can you? And he goes, no, he cut me off. He goes, no, you can't, dear. No, you can't. See, you know what that was then? that's when you do what some of them do. You do it anyway. And then what they would have done is spliced in Simon going, it's enough, stop it. Or they could have sent her into the judges. Sure. How would you have flowed? Let me hear how your flowing would have sounded. It's just like it all happened so fast. She's real good at the flowing, you guys. If we're being honest, that's what she should have done. She would have flowed. Months a month, right? Rob, that was just ridiculous. Go ahead, Ashley. Let's hear it. Don't let him.
Regulators, mound up. It was a cool black night. A clear white moon. Warren G. Was on the mic. Trying to consume. I jumped up my right. And waiting to explode. Chilling on the mic. And I'm chilling all alone. Just hit the east side. Under LBC. On a mission to drive. Mr. Warren G. Seen a car full of girls. Ain't no need to twiggle. You still know what's up. With a two-one-three. So I hooked. Thank you, Ashley. Appreciate that. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you, Ashley. We appreciate that. The cool thing is while she's doing it, she's got a lot of body movement. It really would have been good on TV. Thank you, Ash. So what happened next? What happened? Did you, Ashley? What's that? Did you leave then? Did you walk out of the room? So they didn't let me flow. And so, yeah, by that point, I was like, fine. I don't know what else. You're lost, right? You're like, you're lost. Your guy's lost. I mean, so that was pretty much it. And so then I said, you know, thank you again. Pleasure to meet you, Nigel. Really, it was an honor. Like, I wanted to meet Nigel more than Simon. I'm a huge fan of Nigel. So what happens when you walk out of the room? So then I leave the room. Cameras are on me. And so I go, I guess this is where I'm supposed to stay. I didn't make it.
And they follow me all the way around. Like, they are asking me, grilling me. Like, what they say, what they do, what happened, how you feeling, are you going to try out next year, are you giving up on your dream, are you sad, are you happy? Like, just grilling me. Right. The cameraman just asked me questions as I was storming off. Right. And that was when I said the William Hung thing. Got it. Got it. Well, okay, so then what they do is they take that footage, Nigel Lithgow asked her, and they splice in Paula, Randy, and Simon to make it look like. I just, I don't know. Because the way they said it to me, because I was walking away, I mean, I thought I was done, and the camera guy's following me, and he's like, so what did the judges say? And I was like, they compared me to William Hung, which is probably the biggest insult ever. Right. And that was, so that was how it. Now, what is interesting to me, and what I was asking myself is, it made me wonder if Paula, Simon, and Randy, maybe during the course of doing the show, have said that to another contestant and they use that footage or if maybe they go in one day and that's their job for four hours they sit there and they do reads yeah given like a script yeah they're giving out you know they say uh here you know just do this and say this and then they use that that um
production to splice in who knows i i really watched the episode like very closely last night and i mean i really only saw simon and randy and paula for sure seen like maybe 10 people so i'm just thinking like they probably probably come in and just like in two hours knock out everything you know they're busy people i mean it would make sense to me it's crazy bottom Ashley was on American Idol last night, and if you didn't see it, you can see it on our website, MikeyShow.com. We're not on the same level anymore. Remind them that you're still... I put my pants on one leg at a time. There you go. Just like the rest of it. That's what we were all hoping to hear. Hear that she's still the same level. MikeyShow.com, keyword Ashley, if you want to watch it. Do a parody of the Tom Cruise thing that's out there on the internet. Do stuff that's very popular on the internet. Oh, what about like a Cloverfield? Yeah, dude. Awesome. That'd be great. Like a Cloverfield thing. What's the guy that did the Britney deal? Chris Crocker. Chris Crocker. You know, you could use that idea. You could do any idea you want. And it's just got to be three minutes or less. It's got to promote the Mikey show. It's got to promote, you know, what station we're on, when we're on, all that stuff. And get it on YouTube and then send it to us. Now, the most creative ones, the funniest ones, the coolest ones, the whatever ones, the ones that stand out to us.
We're going to let you put these into us for two weeks, and then we're going to pick the five best and let listeners vote on it. Yes. And the person that wins the whole contest with the most votes is going to win a brand new high-definition camcorder. Wow. You know what might be kind of funny? What? Remember the Hoff video of him eating that disgusting hamburger? The Hoff video. David Hasselhoff. Oh, the Hasselhoff. The Hasselhoff. That's funny. See? Maybe Sky eating a ham. I don't know. That'd be great. I don't know. I don't know. That'd be great. I don't know. I don't know. I'm just saying. Hey, listen. It'd be a great way to sort of promote the show. That's funny. I know you'll like him. I love him. Everyone knows that David Hasselhoff video. We've all seen him, you know, eating the hamburger on the hotel. So. Start getting them to us on Monday, and you got two weeks to get them to us, and then five people will be picked. You guys will vote on the winner, and it's that easy. It's called M-Tube, and we'll start taking them on Monday. Before I went to break, I said that Britney Spears' paparazzi boyfriend or whatever, he went on what, Sky? Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Wow. Whoa. I know. And what was he saying?
Lots of stuff about the reason people don't like their relationship. I think I've got audio. Yeah, you do. His name is Adnan Ghalib. And here he is talking about it. Cut 28. Are you and Brittany still together? I say this relationship is far from over. Far from over? Is that what he said? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Sky says that they're photographed together already. Now, like yesterday or something. Yeah, like they hadn't been seen together for about five days, but they were photographed. together you know out and about holding hands last night which screams to me everybody's being had uh yeah otherwise why are you why is she gonna be with somebody that's on entertainment tonight uh saying secrets unless maybe they did it together and it's funny to them to you know ha ha the finger the whole thing right uh this is him talking about whether or not he was paid for the interview 29 were you paid for this interview no not at all no compensation what
You guys know? Cut 30. Does Britney have a restraining order against you? Absolutely not. Why the rumor? You know, it's unfortunate, and I hate to say this, but I think anybody wants her to be happy. It's sad, but it's very, very true. Whatever it takes, scandal sells. Now this is a paparazzi. That's how he met her. I'm not calling the kettle black. He's a paparazzi. He used to take pictures of her, and she somehow developed a relationship with him. Yeah, their relationship sounds like a fairy tale. Is he actually trying to say that they are a fairy tale ending? Well, duh. Here he is talking more about their relationship. Cut 31. Did you and Brittany have a sexual relationship? I guess sometimes it's hard not to. That's so gross. What about that pregnancy test? Oh, yeah. Cut 32.
There was some speculation after seeing you guys in the drugstore that she was pregnant. Is Brittany pregnant with your child? To a Ouija board? No. Yes. No. Yeah, well, he did go on to say more about that pregnancy thing. Is there no more audio on that? Okay, well, the quote I have here is she was hoping she was pregnant with my child. She felt she was pregnant. She has a very maternal instinct. She was feeling a lot of things she said she felt when she was pregnant before. Yeah. Why are you attracted to Britney? Cut 33. What attracts you to her? A lot of people perceive to know or understand her. She's the most photographed. It's just unfortunate that unless you take the time to scratch the surface and see what's really within, then only understand people perceive to know. Okay. Okay. So weird and creepy. You're one of the guys that's photographing her. Right?
Do you guys hear she was wearing a ring? No. Yeah. I didn't hear that. Yeah, I heard that. Cut 34. Why was Britney wearing your ring? I had an injury to my knuckle. My fingers had swelled slightly. It was getting a little tight on my finger. I took it off. She put it on hers. It was as simple as that, really. When you gave her the ring, you must have known that that would provoke speculation that maybe you were engaged. Yeah, but I mean, I didn't really think about it. If she'd asked you to marry her, would you have said yes? Would anybody say no? Yes. Yes, the answer is yes. Some people would not say no. And you're still marrying. I mean, are you kidding me? That sounds like a fairy tale. Would anyone say no? Well, it makes it sound as if, listen, you know that Brittany is so amazing that who could possibly... Find the strength inside of them to say no to her. She's not well right now. You know Britney's so whacked out she wouldn't demand a prenup, so who wouldn't say no? Yeah, how can you not say no? Yuck. Let's see. We're getting some emails about Ashley on American Idol last night. As you know, Ashley made her television debut last night on American Idol. Has been doing radio tours this morning.
I'm on YouTube. You're on YouTube? My dad just sent me an email. Wow. He said people are commenting on YouTube. What are they saying? I don't know. Let's read an email. I wouldn't read anything into it. Hey, Mikey. Wow, watching Ashley last night was painful. Well, listening to her was painful. Oh. I know I'm a much better singer than she could ever be. Please don't make us listen to that ear-piercing garbage anymore. Let her know she can't sing. I don't want to hear it again. Regards, Lou Ferrigno. Oh, no way. I don't know how he's able to. I'd throw that away. These are not nice comments. They're not nice comments? These are not nice comments. Don't read them. What are they saying? Come on, I want to hear some. Well, the first one I saw says, then I must be a effing retard because that was the dumbest, most effed audition I've ever seen. I hope to God she's really a morning show host and that this wasn't a real audition. That's not very nice. The next one says, I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what. Green is not their color. What does the next one say? Ha ha ha ha ha. She really does sound like William Hong. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. She's funny. I wonder what song she was even singing. Ha ha ha ha ha.
It's jealousy, Ash. And here's another thing, Ashley. I don't need to read into that. Ashley, that's exactly what I was going to tell you. Don't analyze these comments. It'll drive you nuts. It'll drive you crazy. If you start thinking too much into what people are saying, you know, just what you do, you take it at face value. For sure. Especially in this regard. Yeah, good advice. Yeah, what you do is you just take what they say, accept that, but don't read into it. Except if you go above what they say. Then, yeah, then you're just going to, you know, it's beating yourself up. But what they are saying is good. Well, true. It's true. I wouldn't call it good. But somehow, someway, keep coming up with funky-ass jams like every single day. May I kick a little something with the Jews and kick a little pills in the Jews. She didn't go with that song in the auditions because, well, she just figured, you know.
I debated flowing, but I thought this is a singing competition, not a flowing competition. Exactly. For real. If you haven't heard, Heath Ledger dead at the age of 28 years old, and he was found in his apartment in New York City. And this is the New York Police Department Deputy Commissioner Paul Brown talking about whether or not there was foul play. Cut three. No evidence of foul play. And right now, what I want to stress is the police department has made no determination as to the cause of death. We're just waiting for the medical examiner's report on that. What did you find cut for? A masseuse and a housekeeper. A masseuse had an appointment for about 2.45, 3 p.m. this afternoon. We were waiting. for him to come out of the bedroom. When he didn't come out, they checked on him and found the body at the foot of the bed. Face down. I got a clip of John Travolta reacting to it. They end a movie together. Do we now? I don't think so. Cut 10. I adored him. He's touched me deeply as a talent. It's a great loss. Losing him at any age would be a loss, but we're really shocked by it. What about the reports that there was pills?
All over the place, more from NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Brown, cut five. Please tell us again about the drugs that were found in the room. There was a lot of speculation or information that there were drugs scattered all around the room. Is that correct or not? No, that is not correct. There were not drugs found scattered around the apartment. There were some prescription medications, including sleeping pills, that were taken from the apartment, but they were not scattered about. Keith Ledger is from Australia. His father's name is Kim Ledger and made a public statement on Australian television. Cut one. We, Heath's family, confirmed the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3.30 US time. 3.30 PM US time. We would like to thank our friends,
and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life, but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him. He was a down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfish individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our family's need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately. Thank you. Yeah, they say his parents actually found out by watching television. No. Oh, that's terrible. Well, because it happened so fast, and being in New York with all the paparazzi, you know, it hit the press before the authorities had a chance to reach out to his family. That's terrible. That's the electronic world, man. Eddie, an old friend of ours, is interested in interviewing Sarah Long. Really? Otherwise not as Ashley. There's a guy by the name of Dave Sposito up in Washington and Spokane. I know him. Very popular guy up in Spokane. I think he's still at KZZU, right? I think so. And they are definitely from one of those, you know, kind of the lighter hearted, you know, kind of morning zoo type shows. Great guy, though. And I'm asking him if we can do it, all of us.
listening while she does it. Oh, please. That would be awesome. I hope he will, you know, because I don't want to overtake it. I want to let her do it, but it'd be fun to hear what she's getting asked, you know, and we're not going to give their morning show a hard time. They do their type of morning show. We do ours, but I hope he says, yeah, he is a friend. So hopefully he'll say, yeah, we'll be right back. Back where I'm from, a retarded guy could never have this much fun. It's Mikey. 1053. Well, the commute's not over yet. So pretty tough in some spots here, though. There's 805 Northbound, which has really given us a problem this morning, is starting to improve. It's kind of shifting here. You still get a big backup, though, out of Chula Vista up through National City, but it lets you go now at Home Avenue. And then from there, you're looking pretty good.
over Mission Valley until you get to Kearney Mesa. Then it backs up again on you, approaching Balboa. And from there, it's a slow ride still at Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. Northbound 5 still has brake lights out of Chula Vista up to National City. Then again into downtown. A little bit of stuff coming out of Old Town into Mission Bay. Once you get farther north in this 5 freeway, though, it really backs up getting in towards Carmel Valley, approaching the 56. From there, it's a crawl up to a bad accident that caused that mess just past the racetrack getting into Solana Beach. A traffic alert is still in effect on that northbound 5 through that area. The usual coastal road on southbound 5 without a commute. Still tight, quite tough from La Costa and the Solana Beach. Southbound 7 to 15 looking good. Just a brief delay in the Rancho Monardo and Carmel Mountain Ranch. West 94 on the King Freeway. A few brake lights at the 805, then again into downtown. And the westbound 8, still a little bit slow here from the 805 and towards Mission Center Road. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. www.covid.com. kudzu.com. It's like mud but with a K. That's how you spell it. K-U-D-Z-U dot com. This is a website that does the walking for you. Yesterday, I'm sitting in front of my computer. I'm about to go to a doctor's appointment and I'm the worst when it comes to directions. Like, I've been to the doctors a million times and I still don't know exactly how to get there. So, I'm sitting in the computer and I'm like, I need to get what? I have a question.
I've been listening. Can I finish my story? Yeah, but I got to ask when you're done. Okay. So I'm like, I need to find directions to my doctor's office, but I don't know the address. So I can't map quest it. I don't have the address. What do I do? I'm like, I go to kudzu.com, and it's awesome. I forget how easy it is, and then I go back on, and I see. You go to kudzu.com, and you just type in the doctor's office, and it gave me the address. It gave me the phone number, and it gave me a map right there to show me exactly where to go. So bam. One click and I had everything I needed as opposed to going here, there, this place, that place to find all the information. So I could get to my doctor's appointment, Mike. It works good. But I have a question. What does kudzu is like mud with a K mean? Well, like I'm trying to think of how people can remember kudzu. So it's like mud, but instead of mud, it's, oh, kud, like K, like I get. Because most people, if you think kudzu, like, I mean, who knows if you think it's a C or a K or people don't know. So it's like mud zoo. Yeah, it's like mud zoo. I was going to say it. If I were to make a suggestion, I would say it's like mud zoo, but with a K. Because when you were saying it's like mud with a K, I was like, huh? That doesn't make any sense. But then when you just explained it right now, I got it. But it was the first time I got it. Now I get it. I like that. Mud zoo. It's like mud zoo with a K. And then you would like know how to spell it. Well, yeah, except that I might be confused about that U at the end. And that's why I follow up with a respellage.
I like it. Mudzu with a K and a U at the end. See, that's too much. I know it is. It doesn't have the same ring to it, does it? Right. So I like to just initially kick it off with the mud thing so people know it's K-U-D. I would also try this. I would also say, hey, it's me, Sarah Long from American Idol. Yeah, that would work. That would work. In case you missed it, this is a Mikey moment. I have Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture if you guys want a question. Bring it. Who became the first married couple to earn separate Oscar nominations for Best Director? Next. We're all thinking. Okay. We are? Well, Lenny Kravitz. I love this song. Yeah. Nice one, Mike. Cook your soul. Raise to the troops. Chargers fired two coaches, including wide receivers coach James Lofton. This guy says she's getting some updated news right now on the Heath Ledger death. What do you know? Well, the results of the autopsy were just released. They did the autopsy first thing this morning, and it has come back inconclusive. So now we need to wait for the toxicology report to come in, which could take about 10 days. Really? So, yeah, if you haven't heard, Heath Ledger is dead at 28. Dead at the age of 28 years old. Very young guy. That's sad, man. He's from Australia, and he's going to be in...
This new Batman movie, it's called The Dark Knight. Yep. Cut six. Evening, commissioner. Why so? And let me tell you, he don't look like the Joker we've seen. No way. It's scary looking, man. Uh-huh. It's scary looking. It's more, to me, it was more clockwork orange than it was anything else. Let's see. Cut seven is more of the trailer. You've changed things. Huh? Sounds cool. Yeah. Not bad. It's going to be weird watching. It just sucks that the guy's dead, man. Do you think that will help or hurt? Oh, what do you think, man? That's going to help. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's ghoulish. Yeah. But it's, I mean, that's the way we are as humans. We're more interested in stuff. It's his last piece of work. People are going to want to see it. Mm-hmm. So anyway, that's a big topic of conversation today is a young guy like Heath Ledger. He's dead.
Sarah Long on American Idol last night. Also known as Ashley. Hey, Fred Thompson dropped out of the race. The presidential race. He's done. Wow. I wasn't expecting that. I mean, I know he hadn't been performing well, but... Well, what they were saying was, if this thing happened in South Carolina and nothing happened in South Carolina for him, he just wouldn't have it. He wouldn't have the deli. It's to get anything done. Just wasting money. Now the big question is... People that supported Fred Thompson, where are they going? Yep. Who are they going to give the support to? Does he say anything yet? Does Fred Thompson say? He hasn't. In fact, I was reading that this morning to see if he was telling people where to go. But, excuse me, I know he's got a lot of evangelicals, so that would indicate Huckabee. But it could go either way. Huckabee says he's sticking in it, by the way. He just said he's going to cut some of his spending. He spends a little... ton of dough flying press people around and you said he's not going to do that anymore. I didn't know they did that. I read that yesterday. I didn't know that the candidates did that, that they paid to fly press around. I didn't know that they did either. Yeah. I didn't know they did either. I knew that the press followed them around in their planes and all that stuff, but I thought they wanted to. Yeah, I would think like CNN would pay for that or whoever, you know, whatever company would do that. Well, we're getting closer, man.
Super Tuesday is only a couple of weeks away, and we're all going to be voting. I'm voting in some dude's garage. Really? Yeah. Yeah, I got my little thing that says where I'm voting. I'm voting in a dude's garage. I'm going to see if he has any cool tools while I'm in there. There you go. I'm not going to steal anything. I just, you know, I like tools. Check it out. Be nice. Band saw something. Where'd you get that? See what's in the fridge. Yeah. You got anything in a carton with straws you could stick in the carton and drink some of those Capri Suns? Delicious. Got any of that? Sounds good. I think that we should probably investigate some of this. Now, the Mikey Show presents the search for the truth behind the words and the logic behind the lyrics. It's time to play Lyrical Gangster. If you know lyrics, it's the game for you. 5701053. Eddie, what's the prize today? We got some movie passes. What is it to? Good question. A movie? Ashley, do you know? She's checking. 9.25 is the interview time for all of us. Oh, really? Yeah. Eddie, should I send this to you? Have you set it up? How do I do this? I don't know what you're... The Dave Sposito thing. Do you have, like, what is it? All I have is his email, so I don't know if I should... Is he calling us or are we calling them? It's a deal. I don't know how to do it. I don't know if we should tell... I was going, like, should I send it to Ashley and have him write an email saying, give me the number, or should I just... What should I do? Well, we'll handle it after we do the game. DVD prize pack, Mike.
DVD prize pack of, does it say? Oh, I got it. Oh, Prison Break, season two. There we go. Oh, nice. I want that. All right, let's play some Gangsta. It's free, I want it. No, I love that show. It's a great show. I already have season one, don't have season two. P1 Chelsea. Hi. How are you? I'm good. Do you listen to Lyrical Gangsta when we play it normally and go, I know that? Yep. There you go. Then this is your time. Okay. This is exactly what you needed. Okay. Let's do it. Let's see. Let me get my lyric. Okay, here we go. You ready? Ready. All right. Your question is, in the song Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks, what is the beer chase? Whiskey. Oh. Oh, oh. Oof. Uh-oh. Beer. Sorry, that's incorrect. The beer. Chases the blues away. She went too quick. It's okay. Way too quick. You gotta think about it. Don't just jump. Tire song recorded with tobacco in his bottom lip. It's really amazing. Skull long cut is what I heard. P1 Syab is on the phone. Or is it S-I-A-B?
It is, yes. It's P-1-S-I-A-B. What does that stand for? Sky is a beating. There we go. It's not necessary. That was great. It is unnecessary. That's what Tom Cruise says. I hope you don't win. That's right. I hope you don't win. He says it's all about the S-A-I-Bs. Are you ready to give this a shot? I am, yes. Let's do it. All right. In the song, In Da Club, by Fitty, what are they going to sip like it's your birthday? Oh. They're going to sip. They're going to sip Bacardi. Duh. Very sorry about that. P1, ground floor. Yes. Ground floor, are you there? Are you pretty good at the lyrics? All right, let's do it. In the song.
Down Under by Men at Work. After the man just smiled, what did he give me? No clue. That's an old song. He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich. He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich. Sunshine. Sunshine. Sunshine. So mad, dude. Quick story. Here we go. Quick story. sixth grade okay sixth grade one of my teachers she was like the cool teacher remember her oh sure she decided that all of the kids i've never told this story on the air oh i love these she decided that all of the kids in her class were going to that this song was very popular at the time we were going to do like a school
What do they call that? Whenever everybody comes to the theater and they all sit in there, what is that called? A play? Not a play. Assembly. Yes. Going to do an assembly. And all the kids in her class were going to play that song on kazoos. And I was in the class. On kazoos. On kazoos. Yes. And so the whole class, we played that song. Kazoos. Eddie, Eddie, listen. Like, what was the point? I've thought about it. I've thought about it since then. Dozens of times. I honestly have. I mean, every time I hear that song, I think about the kazoo. Right. And I think, you know, well, A, why? Yeah. Why kazoo? You know, what's the connection between a kazoo and down under? And, you know, the other thing was.
Have you ever seen those baseball caps that have, like, tails on them? Mm-hmm. Yeah. She, you know, school budget, ordered every kid one of those. Well, that's kind of Outback, you know, style. Okay, I get that. Okay. So we all wore those, and we sang Down Under. We didn't sing it. We did it on Kazoo. Kazoo'd it. Kazoo'd it. Wow, that's weird. Okay. So there you go. Hey, listen, Rob, when you're done with that Wikipedia page up there that you got. I was looking up Men at Work. That's cool. I just needed to see the call screener. Yeah, yeah, no worries. Just never heard of Men at Work. Find out who they were. Investigate this Men at Work. It's a great Charlie Sheen movie, but I've never heard this band. You know, Mike, that Michael Strable is the lead singer of Men at Work. I don't know if you know that some of his other works included. That's a neat fact. P1 Shannon? Yeah. How are you? I'm good. How are you, Mike? Oh, Mike, by the way, the band originated in Kimberley, Australia. Are you ready to play, Shannon? Sure. All right, here we go. In the song Blurry by Puddle of Mud, what is in between us? Safe. I'm sorry. A safe? No. Oceans are in between us. Wow. P1 Michael.
We need a winner. Come on. Come on. You can do this. You can do this. Are you ready, Michael? I'm ready. Here we go. In the song Take It Easy by the Eagles, he says that he's been, quote, running down the road trying to loosen his load, unquote. How many women did he have on his mind? Women on his mind. I'm sorry. It's a great guess, and I can see why you thought that. He actually had seven women. I've got seven. Very close. Sounds like several. Yeah. It really does. Darn it. We haven't had one winner yet. P1 Bubba. Hey, how you doing? Good, man. How you doing? I'm good, Bubba. Can I ask Ash a question? Sure. Why? Why what? Why? Listen to this. Oh, my God. Why don't you try listening to this? Oh, wow. We get it. I think his question is, you know, why couldn't we all be born with talent? Oh. All right, brother.
Bubba, you ready for yours? Yeah. Here we go. In the song My Sacrifice by Creed, he says that, quote, when you are with me, I'm free, unquote. He also says that he is careless and that he what? Now, that's an absolutely beautiful rendition of the song. There's no doubt about it. But it's not the only rendition. What do you mean? Of the song. Well, no, we do have other ones. As a matter of fact, Ashley, there's another one in here, right? Yeah. Where can I find that? Top right. Let's see, there it is. Okay, wait, no, that person. Skye. I enjoy presents, what can I say? Sean. I'm Boston Rob. I'm kind of the transient of the bunch. And Ashley. I'm a very loving, nurturing person. On Rock 105.3. It's a Mikey Show at 7, or excuse me, 905. A van suspected of carrying illegal immigrants crashed yesterday injuring six people after being chased by the Border Patrol. Broncos safety John Lynch named to his ninth Pro Bowl replacing injured Bob Sanders. Didn't deserve it. You know, is that Pro Bowl, like, is anybody playing in, like, the Pro Bowl? Probably not, no. Definitely not. It's going to be, like, the ninth guy at each position. There's really going to be, like, two Chargers at play because everybody's injured. Mm.
Our blogs are up. If you want to read our thoughts, our blogs are up. Hey, don't talk to her too much. We all want to talk to her. You? Ashley's talking to Shauna. We want to put her on the air. Our blogs are at MikeyShow.com, M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com, and just type in the keyword blogs. I can see her in there yapping away. She doesn't listen. Come on, come on, come on. She's not. Hey, put her on hold. Come on. My God. Whoa. This TV thing's really gone to her head, Shauna. I know. I've been telling her the last five minutes, put her on hold so we could talk to her. Oh, I didn't hear that. I had the volume turned down. She wasn't listening to the mic. Congratulations, lady. Thank you very much. Happy baby. Yeah, he's beautiful. Oh, thank you. This is our program director, Shawna, our boss. And she had a baby day before yesterday. What time was he born? He was born at five in the morning. Wow.
He was supposed to be born at 5 in the evening, but he had a little bit of a mind of his own. Was he born? What was the exact time? 5 a.m., right at 5 a.m. Really? Wow. Mm-hmm. What a trip. Yeah. He's beautiful, man. He's a big kid. Oh, yeah. He is giant. Because I had a C-section, so when the doctors... Pulled him out of me. He's like, get this kid into first grade already. He's got full-grown balls. Hey, wait a second, Eddie. Did you see the pictures? Wait a minute. I don't know if that's really necessary. Just so you know, Shauna, your baby's already two inches taller than Boston Rob. That is true. He weighs more than him, too. Yeah, that's true. That is true. At birth, he weighed more than Boston Rob. Well, we're very proud of you. You made a beautiful, gigantic baby. Where are you? Thank you. Are you still in the hospital? Yeah, I'll probably be here till Friday morning. Oh, wow. Yeah. So, what was the experience like? Yeah. It was, well, like I said, I was scheduled for a C-section because they knew that he was going to be huge, but...
Like, my water broke it on Sunday morning at about 1 in the morning. So he came earlier than expected. So it was kind of like the C-section was kind of crazy. It's the weirdest sensation you've ever felt. You're awake, right? Yeah, you're awake. But they do an epidural type of anesthesia. So it's like when your foot is super, super sound asleep. Imagine that feeling just from your toes to... The top of your chest. Wow. It's not a good feeling. It's so bizarre. And Justin wasn't in the room with me at the time, and I was literally laying there with, you know, like what you see in the movies with the two bright white lights over you. Right. And I was like, this will be the only child we have. But the weird thing is that you can feel them jostling your body around. That's weird. Yeah, it's really weird. And then they're like, okay, there's going to be a lot of pressure. And right when there's pressure, just like about two seconds afterwards, you hear your baby crying. Whoa. And they just pull them right out and get them right over. I don't get a hold of them right away, like if, you know, if I gave them birth naturally. So I didn't get a hold of them until I was in the post-op recovery.
He came to me and his eyes were closed and I started talking to him and his eyes popped wide open like, I know that voice. Wow. That's cool. What was it like hearing that cry? Oh, it was, I mean, it's like what you see in the movies. You just start crying. And, you know, Justin was just like, the look on Justin's face was just amazing, which made me even cry more because he's like, he's beautiful, Shauna. He's beautiful. Yeah. It was cool. Did you name him after me? Wait a minute, Eddie. I don't know. How would she... Why would she... We did a DNA test and you're not the father, Al. What? Oh, no. I'm sorry. What? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. This whole time I've been... Hey, Shauna, did you get to see Ashley on Idol? I did. I seriously, like, last night was kind of a rough night because I... Last night I was going on about... five hours of sleep over a 48-hour course of time, so I was kind of losing my mind, but I wanted to see her so bad, and then I was like, well, that was short. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Crazy, but it was so cool to see her. Yeah, it was good to see her. Yeah, and the promos that they did leading up to it were amazing, so, yeah. Well, listen, Recover, and you got a beautiful baby boy, and what'd you name him? His name is Jameson Thomas Brown. There you go. Aw. Very nice.
Very nice. I was looking at those pictures, and I don't know if you guys know this, but Shauna's husband played football for the University of Arizona. And I was looking at your boy going, that kid's probably going to be strapping on a helmet at some point. Like tomorrow? Yeah, tomorrow. I can't tell you how many times the doctors and the nurses have called him our little linebacker. Like, he's a linebacker. Seriously. It's funny. He's going to be a bruiser. He's got giant nads, Shawna. That's awesome. They're big. Thank you, Shawna. We'll talk to you soon. Thanks, guys. It takes brass balls. I wonder if talking about her son's testicles makes her uncomfortable. Wait, but I mean, did you see the pictures? Holy moly. Eddie's got a point, you know. That's enormous. Oh, yes. I didn't want to check him for elephantitis. Did you guys know? Oh, man. Ringo Starr walked off the set of Regis and Kelly yesterday. Why? It's crazy. What? It's kind of a stupid story. Like, the more I was reading it, the more stupid it sounded. Basically... Well, he's an artist. Yeah, they wanted him to shorten his set, okay? And Gelman, producer there... Are you ready for this? Yeah, it's Gelman. What are we doing? Gelman said, it's got to be under three minutes long. And Ringo Starr's people said, well, we tried to shorten it to two and a half minutes, but we couldn't do it, so...
we're not going to be on the show. So they walked off. They didn't play and they had to fill in with other people. Huh. I mean, what a weird situation. And they talked to the people from Regis and Kelly afterwards and they were like, Hey, listen, we let him know a long time before he came on the show what the time limit was. But his people are claiming that they had just found out. Whatever. And that Ringo wasn't very happy because it was almost like a five-minute song and to cut it to under three minutes. Well, he went on Letterman and did that song and he went over the time on that, too. When he was on Letterman, he did the same exact same. It went too long. So he has a history of not doing what he's supposed to. Does he know he's not in the Beatles anymore? He doesn't. Tom Cruise allegedly keeps Katie Holmes on a very strict diet. What? That's what they're saying. What is she allowed to eat? Well, they refer to it as the K-H. I wish Tom would do that with me. They refer to it as the K-H diet. The K-H diet? Yeah, the Katie Holmes diet, the K-H diet. Got it. Why don't they call it the K-H-D? It sounds better. What are you, a Scientologist? I'm sorry, I didn't know.
I'm telling LRH about this. It's all about the KHD. Only the Scientologists can help. Please, stay out of it. Did you see the full video of him at that awards ceremony? I saw a lot of clips of it. You haven't seen the full thing? Uh-uh. Did you see him salute? Yes. LRH. LRH. To LRH. Not just to LRH. He is serious, dude. He's like, to LRH. Yep. Like, he gives, like, the full-on, like... It's a military saloon. It's military, man. It's L-R-H. And then they show a picture of what looks like a vacuum salesman on this painting. Gigantic, too. Dude, that L. Ron Hubbard painting. Probably 25 feet high. Yeah, I'd say so. It's enormous. And it's a picture of the guy with his hand on a globe. Taking over the world. He's from 1960-something, you know. It's the painting or whatever, but he is... Soon it will all be ours. There is a video out that Jerry O'Connell did spoofing the Tom Cruise video where he talks about Scientology. Cut 40. It is an honor.

Something you may have missed this morning on the Mikey Show. Ashley was on American Idol last night. And so you sang a snippet from a Gwen Stefani song. So were you, for the judges, were you singing Gwen Stefani or a song, a different song? Different song. What did you sing? I sing James Blunt, You're Beautiful. Now, I don't know if you guys have ever heard her sing it. It's actually, it's not bad. Thanks. Ash, give us what you gave the judges that day that got you through to the next level. My life is brilliant. My love is pure and I'm sure.
Thank you, Ashley. Thank you. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. Welcome back. It's 927. Actor Heath Ledger was found dead yesterday in his New York apartment. They believe it was an accidental overdose of prescription medication. For our friends in Washington, Mike Holmgren announces he's going to return as the Seahawks coach next season. I think we're getting ready to go here with our old friend Dave Spazito. When we knew him, his name was Nunzio. They changed his name to Nunzio. This was back when we were in Rochester. We worked with Dave in what year, Eddie? 92. 92. Yeah, 93. We were there for the blizzard in 93. Oof. And he went back to Spokane, Washington, and he's been very successful in Spokane. I think he's the number one show in Spokane. He has been for years. Oh, come on.
He's been number one in Spokane for years. And he's a very funny guy. He's a member of Mensa. Did you know that? I think I remember that. That's the best Tom Brokaw impression in the world. On planet Earth. Where he's been able to fool Brokaw. But also one of the nicest guys probably I've ever met in my career. And we're waiting. What's going on, Rob? Do we know what's going on? Right now she's talking to them because we were trying to find out. We're going to... pick up and they're going to be in the interview or... So she's being interviewed right now? I think, no, not yet. She's talking to him to set it up. I think they're certain. Yeah. I was just asking them, you know, if it was fine that we were on the air live while they were interviewing her and all that. I think I just saw her mouth move and say, I'm Ashley, but I hope she lets them know that she was Sarah from last night on American Idol. Right. But yeah, because they did. They had to change her name. Yeah. On American Idol. Yeah, use her real name. We're the ones that changed their names. I didn't want to. I wanted to call Ashley Sarah, which is her real name. But we couldn't. Now it's like, I can't even imagine her as a Sarah. Right. Way in the world. She hates it. She hates to be called Sarah. Really? Yeah, and I couldn't. I couldn't do it. Like, I don't look at her and see a Sarah at all. She's Ashley. You know that you have full-on committed to a nickname when you're angry at someone and you yell, Ash, Ash.
Yeah. That's so true. You know what I mean? Like, you're committed. That's their name. That is now their name. Yeah. If you call them that. Like, I can't imagine this guy being a Beatrice. Exactly. Yeah. Like, Beatrice, you're a beating. Oh, wait. That's so weird. Beatrice is a beating. Yeah. Doesn't really roll off the tongue as much. Not really, no. Huh? All right, let's talk about stuff before we get on with them. Okay. Are they doing an interview with her? I don't know. That's why I'm like... Hey, Ash, are they doing an interview with... No? Rob, Rob, Rob. Let me know. Because I see her in there talking. I'm like, come on. Tell me they're not doing the interview. She's probably setting it up with their producer. No, she's still setting it up. With their producer? Yeah. Okay. She's just animated when she talks. God. Very, very animated person. I thought she was miming something to me. I was miming. Jenna Fisher, the chick that plays Pam on The Office. What's going on? What's going on, Ash? They're taking me right now, so what am I doing? Okay, put her on hold. Put her on hold so I can pick up and we'll all be on. Put them on hold. Okay.
Unless they're there and say, hi, hang on, just put you on hold so Mikey can talk too. It shouldn't matter. You should be able to hit the line. She's on it. You can't hit it? Uh-uh. Not when she's on it. Not when she's on it. I'll hit it right away, though. Cool. Ashley works with Mikey. Hey, Dave. Hello, Mike. Dave. They're live on the air right now. Okay, cool. Dave, we are too. We're all on live. Very good. Well, it's great to hear your voice. We were just saying the same thing, Dave. Eddie's here, too. Oh, Phone Boy Eddie. Oh, my goodness. What? Oh, my goodness. What is that? I forgot. That's what his name used to be. Oh, my gosh. That's crazy. Wow. His name used to be Phone Boy Eddie. That's right. I was just telling that story that we all work together at a radio network in New York, and Eddie... with Mike and then Mike was with me. Right. And now he's in San Diego. We're in Spokane at zero. I did on Dave's show what Eddie does on my show. I produced Dave's show at the time. Right. It was great. Those were some of the funnest times of my life, Dave. Those were truly good times. Yeah, absolutely. So what did you think of our girl last night? You know, I have to be honest. I did not make the connection.
Yeah, a lot of people do not because they used her real name, which is Sarah Long. Right. And we wanted to use that name here on the radio, but at the time she worked for one of our sister stations here in the building, and the program director didn't want to let her go. Obviously, you guys saw last night, she's very talented. Very talented. Yeah, no doubt. And they didn't want to let her go, and I was really pressing for them to let me have her on my show, and they said, fine, we'll let you have her, but she cannot use the name that she's been using on our station, which is her real name, Sarah. And I said, fine, and I changed it to Ashley. Okay. And the rest is history. The rest is history, so. So when you, Ashley, when you went through this whole process and everything, and you told them that you're Sarah Long and all this, You knew all along that you were going to be getting a lot of radio time out of this. Are they okay with all this? I didn't even really know that all along, and that certainly wasn't even my zone that I was in going into the competition, you know? What is that, Ashley, a zone? What do you mean by that? Like my mode. Your mode. What do you mean by that? You were doing a bit, though. Mikey, please. I'm sorry, what was your question, ma'am? Were you doing a bit? No. Well, see, that's what.
people get confused and I can understand that you would think I'm doing a bit, but that's really how I sing. You can ask anybody. I'll let you guys hear just a second of her doing Living La Vida Loca here on our show. It's very provocative. Nothing wrong with that. That was one of the words I was thinking about. Sexy. It's sexy. It's provocative. It's Ashley. It's all Ashley. So Ashley. So Ashley, let me ask you this. And Molly was going to bring this up. But what was the day like when you went through that whole process? I mean, are you in line all day and then you go through? Or is it a series of callbacks and different days? What happens on that day? Yeah, it was like a...
period over about three months and there's several different days and probably about 21 hours total of waiting, like added up. And then right before you get called in to go before Randy and Paula. Never saw them. Never met them. Never saw them. You never saw Randy and Simon? No, I never met them. I didn't make it that far. Yeah, editing. They edited in. They edited in Paula, Randy, and Simon. She performed in front of Nigel Lithgow, the executive producer, and they edited it to make it look like it. But that was like my third audition. I went through five producers before I even saw Nigel. three different days of auditions before I even saw Nigel. And that was my last, and that was the only audition that was in front of the camera, and that was the audition where they pulled that stuff from. And the William Hong comment was made, it just wasn't made, like, at all how Randy said it, like, Nigel Lithgow said it to me in a totally different way. I mean, it was completely different. The magic of editing. No kidding. Yep. So when you saw the show last night, and I don't know if you were watching with family or friends or whatever. I was watching on a third date.
How about a third date watching American Idol? Wait a minute. Excuse me, guys. Excuse me. If I could break in here for just a second. Please, I'm in an interview, guys. Wait a second. I'm in an exclusive interview, Mike. Hang on. Hang on. What were you saying? Dave, I'm just going to tell you something right now. Molly, what were you saying? I'm going to tell you. Molly, Dave. Hang on. Let me tell you something. Exclusive. She hasn't said that on my show yet, and I've been so irritated. You guys are interviewing me. See, this is what happens when you interview me. Oh, I'm so irritated. See, Molly, this is what happens when you interview me. I'll give you the dirt. I'll give you the exclusive. See, and Ashley, you probably did tell them they just weren't listening, if it's anything like our show. Oh, wow. We were listening. Shut up. So, okay, so you're on a third date, and then how do you, did you say, hey, let's watch The Idol? Yeah, it was my, the third date was that we were going to watch that show. But he knew you were going to be on. Yeah, he was very supportive. What was his immediate comment right after it aired? That he was really proud of me and kissed me on the cheek. Did he enjoy your vocal styling? Yeah, I mean, because he thinks my voice sounds sexy. So, you know, I mean, I think it's just personal preference. Like with Macy Gray's voice, like not everybody likes it. It's unique, but some people dig it, you know. Macy Gray. So I kind of think I'm like that.
Some people like it. Some people don't. I got a couple of clips here. You want to hear her sing Blondie Heart of Glass. I've got Lady Marmalade. Lady Marmalade. Give me a second of that one. She says that that's not really her tone. She admits that that's bad, but she made a face at me as soon as I started playing it like, why are you playing that one? You're trying to make me look stupid. and then he'll play clips where he's trying to show that I sing, but he'll purposefully play the clips that don't sound good. And then it's completely fearing the purpose of it backing me up. This could be another little exclusive. Can you give us something, just, you know, 10 seconds of something that you know is really good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Your tone. Do something in your tone. Yeah. I drive these buddies crazy. We do it on the daily. I treat you very nicely. You all this bond. Cherry and lemon.
Thank you, Ashley. I'm sorry to forget the words. You get the idea of my tone, right? I like that one a lot. That sounded good. Yeah, she's really great, guys. I believe you're afraid that Ashley will leave you. I think you're right. I don't think I have any problems admitting it. Thanks, Molly. We've somehow found a way to make this into a bit that she's not a good singer so that she'll stay. That's a big trick. She just admitted on the air with you guys that she's been seeing someone, and she hasn't said it on the air here. This is an interview, Mikey. What do you want from me? Just some loyalty. I've got to give him the goods. I don't know. Loyalty is what I want. It's an interview. I got to give him something. This is radio ratings over here. What about us? What about us? What about our ratings? Ken's got a quick question, and then we got to go. I hate to interrupt. This is almost like reality radio. So we've heard. I was just going to say, when we first heard the clip, Dave said, what was that song she was singing? And I said, I'm not sure. I think it's a chili pepper song. Random, but, you know. What was it? Well, that song.
was Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape and they made everybody learn that song. That was not the song I auditioned with, Molly. I don't think it was the song you auditioned with anyway. No, it was all the way through to the second auditions and in front of the cameras that made it to that day. They made everybody learn a certain verse from Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape and I had to learn that and then sing it 30 minutes later. That's why it sounded so bad. That's why. You know, because I forgot the lyrics in the middle of it and stuff, and that's why. Okay. But I auditioned with James Blunt, You're Beautiful. Oh, can we hear some of that? Kicking it valid. Yeah, let's hear a little bit of that, Ashley. I'm going to let you guys know right now it's not very good. I don't know. I have you.
I shouldn't have soiled the water. Go ahead. It's her interview, guys. It's your time. It's your time. You're a bold-faced liar. I am a... I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Molly. Go ahead. That's okay. You're good. Okay, go ahead. All right. I'm sorry. My love is brilliant. My love is pure. I saw an angel. Of that, I'm sure. She's humiliating. She was with another man. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you. I take it back. I take it back. There you go. That's funny. I got it covered. Thank you, Mom. I already threw something at him. Dave, it was great to talk to you, Dave. It really was, man. Good to talk to you. And I'll give you a call later this week, too. You got it, man. We'll talk to you soon. See you guys. Take a look. Mikey, take a look at your own fears with this whole thing. Why don't you turn that high-powered perception on yourself there, Mike? That's right. Thank you, guys. Thank you.
Good to talk to you. Bye, guys. Have a good date. That was a funny line. It sounds like it's coming out of a baby monitor. So who are you dating? I am so... I got so irritated. What's your problem? Let me tell you a story. What's your problem? The balls, bro. She's been seeing this guy, right? And I've been going... And yesterday I called her a sellout. In the office I go, you're such a sellout. I go, you won't. Why do you not talk about your relationships on the air? That's our thing is that we're supposed to be reality radio. Listen, Mike. I'm not ready. I'm not ready, okay? Not time yet. No means no. At this very moment, she's wiping her pits with like a paper towel. No, I'm just re-adjusting the paper towel maxi pad things I use. So I said, talk about the relationship on the air. And she said, I'm not ready. I don't want to risk it. Don't want to risk it. I don't want to jinx it, okay? She was on Spokane Radio and she's like, oh yeah, I'm in love. Yeah. No, the wedding date was supposed to be from March of next year, but we decided it. Have I told you about stereo? Yeah. What the hell was that? She gave you exclusive to another radio station. I mean, they asked and it just came out. How dare you?
never asked me on the air who I watched it with. That's because I'm trying to be respectful of your feelings. You said you didn't want to talk about it. Yeah, what base did you go to? She's unbelievable. I have the list of stations that Ashley was on today. Please tell me the whole list and tell me the one that was the jack holes. Well, okay, so first was on Smitty and Loper. They were nice. You can't make up names. They were really nice. Smitty and Loper in West Palm Beach. Yeah! Hey, wait, wait, wait. Pause. Okay. Is that that guy that goes to boot camp that I think is real funny? No, it's me. No, no. That's Kevin. He's funny. Then this is... I'm guessing this is the second station she was on, so this is the one that she said... Puddin. Puddin in Grand Rapids. Puddin. Puddin. Puddin. Is he a guy? Yeah. I mean, is he like a rock guy? He seemed like... He was punk. I mean, he was trying to embarrass me the entire time. His name's Puddin. How can he embarrass you? Is he putting me on? Now, I can't really make fun of Puddin. I'm Mikey on the radio. It's hard for me to really... That's a good point. Can you imagine me being like, Puddin, what a stupid sophomoric name. I'm Mikey. And she was on The Morning Mess in Atlanta. The Morning Mess. It's a big show. Does it say who's on it? No.
There is one show with a Shannon and a super fat Mikey. Hold on. That's here. Then you got John Jay and Rich, our friends in Phoenix. That's right. Rich used to be the producer for the Dave Shelley and Chainsaw show. Rich Barra. No. You got Tony and Rumble. Oh, yeah, the guys in the country station right here in San Diego. No, no, no. It's Tony and Rumble. Oh, no, I'm sorry. It's Tommy and Rumble. Oh. In Norfolk. Tommy and Rumble. Tommy and Rumble. Do you remember them, Ashley? Talking to Tommy and Rumble? Yeah, they're really nice. Nice guys? Yep. So the only one that gave you a hard time was Puddin'? Puddin'. Puddin' was the only one. Oh, Puddin'. Yeah, Puddin'. You got another morning mess in Harrisburg. Yeah. And then our friend... Morning mess is a popular morning show name. Apparently. Now, what is that? Like, is there an actual... Like, if you called your show Morning Sickness... Like, that makes sense because, like, that means something, morning sickness. You get it when you're pregnant. But what is morning mess? I don't get it. It's two M words. Okay, it just sounds good together because it's two M words.
So the morning mess in Atlanta is Marco, Shannon, and Super Fat Mikey. How were they? Oh, yeah. They were awesome. Yeah. Yeah, they were cool. Everyone was cool. Atlanta's a big market, so they're probably good on the air. Everyone was cool. Definitely the main thing, because everyone was nice except for Puddin. But the main thing I really noticed that makes all the difference is the questions. Because some of the people interviewed me, and they didn't ask very good questions. And other ones, I gave way more exclusive info to them. We know. Puddin, you have to understand, Puddin is in Grand Rapids. And so he desperately wants out of Grand Rapids. He didn't sound very happy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Here's the deal. When you're starting out on radio and you're in a small city, you got to make a big splash, you know? So when you get the opportunity to talk to somebody, you got to make the most out of it. And so in his mind, you know, being on there and being scandalous with the American Idol girl, you know. I'd love to have you hear the interview. Oh, me too. It's so. And then we had, and then she was on Mojo.
In Detroit. Mojo's good. Yeah. And then Davey Ken up in Spokane. Yep. So she made it around the country. Yeah, Detroit ain't messing around, man. Yeah. You make it on radio in Detroit and you're doing something right. Right. Well, check this out. There's those stories and then there's this one. Fans of the Mikey show on Rock 105.3 saw a familiar face last night on American Idol. Many might know Ashley for her unusual singing ability. And if you missed it last night, take a look. Oh, wow. Oh, Mark. I've been acting like Sarah Mack all on the floor and this is all your fault because you close your vision door. Maybe that's why I've been acting so cold. Do you have a guy named William Hung? They compared me to William Hung, which is probably the biggest insult ever. I love Ashley. I had a chance to hang out a little bit with the guys on the Mikey show. She's an absolute sweetheart, but they have a full, long-running bit where they have Ashley sing songs on the Mikey show and have people guess what the song is. I mean, and I haven't gotten one of them yet. You haven't? No. So, Ashley, we love you, honey, but, you know, keep singing for laughs. It's good TV, good radio. That's right, and you're a sweetheart, so. Still ahead. There you go. That was from Fox this morning. Nice. Let's see. I want to tell you about M-Tube. Yep. Get in on M-Tube.
Gotta do it. It's like the M stands for Mikey. It's MikeyTube, but we're calling it MTube. And the idea is you promote the Mikey show in a video, three minutes or less, spoof something. Sky had a great idea with that Cloverfield. Yeah. Do something Cloverfield-like. Or, you know, spoof the Tom Cruise video that came out on YouTube. What else, Eddie? What else, like, something everybody knows, something everybody's seen, something everybody can relate to? Yeah. I mean, you mentioned Chocolate Rain today. You know, I would maybe even act out a skit that you hear on the Mikey Show. Yeah. You know, that might be interesting. That's a very good idea. So, there's a lot of stuff. So, and then the idea is that on Monday... Don't spoof me auditioning. Oh, that'd be great. Spoof Ashley on American Idol. Play the judges. On Monday, we'll start accepting them. And we're going to accept them for two weeks, these videos. Then after two weeks, we're going to take the five best ones. And we're going to put those five best ones online so listeners can vote. Whoever gets the most votes wins a brand new high-definition camcorder. Wow. Yeah. It's a great price. Incredible, incredible price. So somebody should get in on that.
5701053. I feel like I haven't talked to P1s at all today. I just got word I will have the puddin' interview today. Before we get off. Yes! Before we get off the air today. Oh, I can't wait. How do we even get that? I can't. I'll tell you all. Dude, you're amazing, bro. That's cool. That's awesome. Oh, you guys are going to enjoy that. That's interesting. Puddin'. I can't fight it lightly. It's interesting. Well, yeah, 5701053. Like I said, I don't think we've talked to P1s very much today. I just want to see what's going on. What did we miss? Did we miss talking about something you want to hear about? 570-1053. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, this is P1 T-Rex. What's up, T-Rex? Hey, man, Ashley, she looked very good on TV. I just want to say congratulations, Ashley. I thought so, too. I thought she looked beautiful on television. You should see her playing with her pits right now. Wait a minute. So gross. She's been playing with those pits now for the last 20 minutes. You can't stop. Well, thanks, T-Rex. There you go. Thank you, T-Rex. Imagine how sweaty she was in the audition. I can only imagine. Mikey Show. That's why I wear black, Eddie. Smart. Hello. Hello. Mikey Show. Hello. Hi. It's our phone lines. Dude, you got to call back because line three is messed up. Sorry, bro. That's the line. Can you hear me? That's not you, dude.
It's our phones. It's not you. It's me. No. Same one? Wow. Yeah. I'm just trying to put it on hold. Horrible. Oh, that's awful. This is a multi-gabillion dollar radio station. This radio station literally is worth millions of dollars. Well, this phone thing, it's a new invention. They're working out the kinks on it. Well, it's not that the phone's necessarily new. It's phones in a radio station, you know, on the air. It's difficult. It's not easy. It's not easy. It's not. Hillary promises to change that. Oh, for sure. Oh, yeah. Mikey Show. Hey, Mike, what's up? It's P1 Ryan from Oceanside. What's up, dude? Nothing much. Hey, I was watching Ash last night with my friend, my daughter, and I couldn't believe it. My daughter knew this song that she was singing. Really? Oh, wow. Yeah, she did, so I might have to call in for when you guys do it in tone deaf and have her guess. There you go. How old is your daughter? She's nine years old, and she loves singing. Really? That's great. She knew it right off the bat. Well, it had to take her like twice until the commercial came, then she got it.
There you go. All right, thank you. I appreciate the call. Mikey Show, hello. Mikey Show, yes, hello? Hey, it's P1Xtina. Hello, hello, yes? Hey, there's no Sheeters Hotel today or what? No, you know what? We ran out of time. We ran out of time because we were doing all this stuff with the Idol. We can do it tomorrow. We'll do it tomorrow. Idol kind of took over today. All right? All right, thanks. Bye. Thank you. P1 Daniel Sun, and then we've got to take a break. We're really late. Mikey Show, hello. Mikey, what up? P1 Daniel Sun, just wanted to thank that guy. They called him yesterday. It was heard about the movie Cloverfield, saying that it really hurt him, that it was filmed in New York. Right. Just wanted to thank that guy. He sold two more tickets to that movie. There you go. Appreciate the phone call. Dan? No, don't. I had to change the voice with some electronics to make it sound feminine. See, that's not the way it really sounded. That's amazing. It's been a while. for a while now. You got me feeling like a child now. Let's go to the real tape now. Better time you see my pretty face. Starts in my toes, then it tickles my nose. Mark Fabiani talked about the Chargers and a possible future home in Chula Vista. That audio next. The rain is falling, our window pays a safer place.

I always say Casa Del Charro. And she goes, it's... What about Del Charro? I don't know. What is it, Sky? Do you know? What is it? It's my favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego. Where is that? Well, they have one in Escondido. On Quince. On Quince. But they just opened one in Restaurant Row in San Marcos. Okay. And it's so good. It reminds me of, like, my grandma's house when I was growing up. The food. It's so good. They have a cool bar in there where people hang out. And Skye said she went there, but the wait was too long. Yeah, we went there a Friday night at 7 o'clock. You can't go anywhere. You've got an hour to chill. They're bringing food in as soon as we tell them. Tomorrow? Cocina Del Charro. Cocina Del Charro. It's so sweet.
So good, man. I mean, in terms of Mexican food, I love real authentic Mexican food. I'm talking like the grilled and sort of blackened long green onions. You know what I'm talking about? Of course. That's so Mexican. Yeah. Like with your carne asada, when they grill the little green. It's delicious. Oh, dude. It's good stuff. It's KIOZ San Diego. Sean should hit it. Sean should hit it. Did you see him hit it? Yeah, he hit it. Okay, cool. Oh, okay. Mikey. We'll save that. We'll do that tomorrow. It's too long. What can I tell you about? Ashley, by the way, is at this moment loading the interview that she did with Puddin. Puddin. Grand Rapids, Michigan. Grand Rapids, Michigan. She said he was the only interview that she did this morning where the guy wasn't very nice. And I explained. I said, listen, you know, you got to be a shock jock. Yeah.
Because you want to get out of there. Get noticed. Get out of Grand Rapids. You know, even Howard Stern started off in Hartford, Connecticut. And you move up from there. But you got to make a name for yourself. So Puddin is just trying to make a name for himself. Puddin. If I had to do it over again, I don't know that I'd be Mikey. But it worked. It worked, you know, having a different kind of name. If it was the Mike Esparza show, probably just wouldn't have flown. 570-1053 is a phone number. If you want to give us a call. Scott, you got any news on Heath Ledger? Actually, yeah. I just read something that was just posted up on TMZ.com. Now, if for some reason you hadn't heard, Heath Ledger was found dead yesterday in his apartment in New York, 28 years old. They believe that it was an accidental overdose of sleeping pills and antidepressants. Plus, they added the fact that he had been suffering from pneumonia. But the new information is that a source with the New York Police Department said that they are investigating a 20-year-old
dollar bill that they found rolled up in a quote certain way that had a powdery substance on it and they are going to test the powdery substance to see specifically what that is. Not too hard to connect dots on that. You guys want to hear Mitt Romney being real cool? Are you sure? I'm telling you bro. He's talking to some African Americans in Jacksonville. Doesn't seem like the coolest guy. I wouldn't think so. I don't know. Maybe you ought to give this one a listen and see if maybe it changes your whole perspective on Old Mitt. Got 35. Come on. Let the dogs out. Who let the dogs out? Who let the dogs out? Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof. Woof, woof. Oh, my God. One more time. It's worth it. One more time. Hey, I got you up here. Come on. You just got your camera, though. Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof. God. How do you like that? I can't even. Oh, there's more. No, Mike. No, no, no. Please don't. For his sake, I don't. Cut 36. Get the baby. The baby. Hey, buddy. How you doing? What's happening? You got some bling bling here, too. That is the worst. How are you, brother? Right? Hey, you down with OPP? That is some mad money you're rolling with. That's whack.
That is really whack. Word to your mother. Wow. Wow. Oh, my God. Who knew? He was so hip. We got a 12-year-old on the phone who wants to give a shout-out to his dad. His name is Mikey. Mikey, are you there? Yeah. What's your dad doing right now? Driving his truck at work. Cool. What's his name? Mike, as well. Now, how come you're at home right now? I'm sick. You're sick? What do you got? The cold or the flu or what? The flu. That's terrible. worst. That flu is the worst, man. Are you throwing up? Not yet. Now, are you allowed to watch TV when you stay home sick from school? Yeah, just no game. Hey, man, we're not on the air, so just tell me. Are you faking it just so you could stay home today? No. Okay, cool. Mike, that's so messed up. I was just trying to say, hey, just keeping them honest. That's all we're doing. We are on the air, Mikey, so no bad language, all right? Okay. So your dad's name is what? Mike. Mike. So you're Mike Jr.? Yep. Right on. What do you want to say to your dad?
Just, hey, Dad. Very cool. I'm on the radio. Aw, sweet. Very cool. All right, now I have you on the line, so I'm going to get your opinion on a couple of things so we can get the 12-year-old's opinion on various topics. Okay. I'm going to throw some stuff out there. You tell me what you think. Nice. All right? Okay. Tom Cruise. Not a good actor. All right. Ouch. Britney Spears. Hit rock bottom. Good. Wow. Paris Hilton. Um, on the way, uh, so-so. Now, what do you mean so-so? Um... Like, kind of cool, but not cool? Yeah, like that. Like, why is she not cool? Um, just all the stunts she pulled. Yep. Yeah, little stunts. What about Chris Daughtry? Um, don't know her. Don't know her either. Yep. Uh, George Clooney. Um, nope, never seen a movie with him. All right. It probably means you got a good dad. It means he's making sure that his son doesn't watch bad television or movies. Never heard of it. About American Idol. Yeah, what do you think of that? I don't really like that show. Some of my friends do. What's your favorite thing to mess around with, like, play with right now? Taking stuff apart. Like what? Like, I don't know, just an old toy that I have. Taking it apart, messing it up, putting it back together. Oh, do you want to do that maybe when you get older? Yeah. That's your favorite video game.
Um, Halo 3. Are you good? Nice. Are you good at it? Um, yeah. No Xbox Live. Cool, man. Ah. All right, dude. Well, thanks for calling. Okay. All right. Eddie? What? What was he doing? What? What's going on? He just, he makes me, he knows, man. He knows my sophomore experience. I didn't do anything. Yes, he did. What did he do? I'm just sitting here interviewing the guy. You're not just sitting there. You're not. What? You're a troublemaker. I'm not a troublemaker. Come on, guys. You did. P1 Chris. Hey, what's up, Mike? What's up, man? Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for turning me on to FunnyOrDie.com. Ah, yes. You're welcome. I know, but I don't get a lot of computer time these days, but that is an awesome site. On the breaks, I was watching all the Tom Cruise parodies. There you go. Really good stuff. And you know what? Maybe later this week... Can you have George Takar on the show talking about Scientology? I've been talking about Scientology for the last four months, but nobody's been listening. Wow. As a Korean man. Yes. What is your name? George, you can't be hitting on our listeners. I'm not hitting on anyone. Seriously, George. I am wearing dolphin shorts right now. Okay. Hey. Hey, guys. Where do you...
work out. No. This isn't that type of a thing. You sound very in shape. I work out a lot, but one arm's more difficult. Oh, well, look at you, funny man. Really creepy. Quite a comedian over here. I love you guys. Peace out. We got the interview now? No. Oh, it's still loading? Yeah. Alright, a moment now from Apocalypse Now. Wow. I haven't seen it, so I didn't know. She was gunning down the VC. I didn't know. What's the latest on Friday Night Lights? What's happening on that show right now? Oh, Mike, you just... You're missing so much. What's happening? It's crazy. There's a lot going on. Like what? Well, Smash. You know, Smash Williams, of course. He's committed to, what is it, TMU? Oh, yeah, he did commit to TMU. He gave a verbal commitment. TMU? Texas.
university texas methodist university no fake university all right right and he's uh been dating this girl noel who happens to be oh yeah oh white girl is that causing controversy and where you know this is texas yeah come on it was so sad though they were so excited because noel's parents invited smash's mom over for dinner and noel's parents are cool with it dude everyone was getting along great and then at the end of the dinner noel's mom's like told the kids because there were younger kids at the dinner uh you guys may go play whatever why don't you Oh, go play. Yeah, go play. And that's when she drops the bomb that she is not happy. She feels uncomfortable with this relationship and she doesn't think the people of Dillon, Texas are ready for an interracial relationship. Is that Lou Bush in there? Is that Lou Bush? Yeah. Is that Lou Bush? Looks like it. Come in here. Come on, say hi. Why does he look so miserable? I don't know. Like he hates us. I know it. Why do you look so unhappy? You clown. Get in here, clown school. Why were you looking so unhappy? Come sit down. Why do you hate us? You are special. Oh, no. That does not sound good. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Lou, I'm going to interview you. I'm going to interview you. Professional interview right now. You got me? Hi. I'm going to find out about Lou. Hi, girl. Hi, friend.
I like the goatee. It looks good. You smell nice. Thank you. It looks good. It's a lemon scent. Is it? Thank you. Thank you. That's the nicest. You know what? She usually starts out with some... Thank you. Starting out on a different foot. Isn't that good? That's good. It's bomb. I listen back to interviews when you're on. Uh-huh. And you and Sky definitely have a very good chemistry. I think you could do a funny show together. No. I'm not kidding. I'll wait. I'll wait. I'm good. I'm joking. What are you waiting for? Ebony and Ivory. You're right. That's right. This is the day, my friend. Dude, I just saw Hacksaw. Yeah. He's huge. I didn't realize he was that big. I've never met him before. You've never met Lee Hacksaw Hamilton? No. Chainsaw. Chainsaw. I was going to say, wow, Hacksaw. I wonder if he's going to go on a diet now after him. So what's going on, man? You met Cookie Chainsaw. Chainsaw Randall from down at DSC, right? Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's about eight feet tall. He's a tall guy. Okay. I'm going to find out stuff about you that I don't know. Okay. What's your favorite? What's your favorite? Lou Bush, former San Diego Charger, currently on the pregame show with Eddie on Rock 105. What's your favorite restaurant in San Diego? Ooh. Ooh, that's tough. You know, if I, if just, I gotta go, Joe's Crab Shack. All right. Dungeon's Crab. I'm sorry, dude. What? I've been in love with that forever. I had no idea that was his favorite thing. Is that your favorite thing? No, I hate Olive Garden. What's the difference, man? What are you talking about?
You're out of all the restaurants you picked Joe's Crab Shack? I ain't saying anything's wrong with Joe's Crab Shack. It's a chain restaurant. It didn't make any sense. This is why they're on the pregame together. I don't know why he's doing this to you. They won't argue about anything. Joe's Crab Shack? Hey, you're entitled to your own opinion, Lou. Not Red Lobster? This is America. Are you sure? What the heck? You went to culinary school. I know, but I love Joe's Crab Shack. Hell yeah. I'll step off. I'll step off. You're going to step off. I was about to say, who was that guy you guys just had? The little clip? I'm talking about words. Who was that guy? Oh, that was Mitt Romney. Oh, that's horrible. Isn't that bad? When white guys try to act brotherish. And it's not necessary. No. If the only reason he's doing it, yeah. Because he's some folks who's around, yeah. What does he think? Does he think that they don't get what he's doing? Exactly. Like they're missing it? That they're not going to make jokes of him after. Give me a break. It's terrible. Okay. I like jokes, man. All right, Joe. I do. Because I can cook what I eat at most places, but I like Joe's going to get Dungeness Barbecue. The Dungeness Barbecue is where it's at. You can't get that anywhere else. Have you been there? Me? Yes, I've been there. What's your favorite restaurant? I didn't come back. Get back to me. Think about it for a while. It's tough. If you think about it, it's like, well, it depends. High end or, you know. Ocean air for seafood, for sure. Crab cakes. Good recommendation. Give me. No, dude. You want Joe's Crab Shack. But you had the Dungeness Crab.
But I like Joe's. Barbecued, it's the best. Joe's Krabjack or Ocean Air? I think I might go get the Dungeness Crab at Joe's Krabjack instead of Ocean Air. Many days out of the year, which idea? I'm going there. Oligarden or Busolakis? I think, yeah, you know. I don't like Italian. You don't like Italian food? I don't really care for Italian. Or I just don't. Like a clown. What is the matter with me today? You know, you know, see, I'm... It's just one of those, me and Eddie fought all year. I'm changing. It's a new year. I don't want to go there. I'm just trying to be kind. I'll make it better. But that's my opinion. I'll make it better. Yeah. Tell me the most romantic thing that you've ever done for your wife. Took her to Joe's Crab Shack. Let me see. You know what? You're just starting out a young grasshopper. I'll let that one go. Let me see. When I proposed, probably. What did you do? We were at Joe's Crab Shack. Yeah, we were at Joe's Crab Shack. Early bird special. I was dipping my own basket of crab. That's how I like to work. No, actually, we went to Keyshawn's restaurant up in L.A. Reign. And every year it was her birthday. Keyshawn Johnson? Not even intending to drop a name. Keyshawn, wait.
What's going on with you, Eddie? I don't know. You've heard me up. We got 20 minutes. We can get it on real quick. Hey, man. He has a restaurant? Yeah. I don't know if it's still there. It was called Rain. What kind of food? He was doing high-end soul food, literally. Really? Yeah, it was interesting. It was really, really unique. What did you think of the flavor? It actually was good. It was really good. It was just the portions weren't what it should have been. But it was cool that somebody was trying to do that. You know what? But I got there early. And went in the back. It sounds so corny, but, you know, I've never been so nervous in my life. I was like, okay, look. Okay, take this ring. You know, when you bring the water out, just, no, no, don't do the water. Bring us, you know. My wife doesn't drink. So I'm thinking, okay. No, don't do that. Okay. So finally, I said, when she brings her appetizer, because she always gets, like, cocktail or whatever. Like, here. Put it, like, right behind it so she can see through the cup and see it. Right. And then she's talking, and the dude's, like, standing, brings it, sits it down, and she hasn't even looked at it. I'm going. What the hell? I got a guy over here with a camera going. How did you get it to happen? I was like, babe, what is that? And she looks and she's like. The most romantic thing you ever did was put a ring in shrimp cocktail. A ring next to the apple. Lou is getting so irritated, man. No, I'm not. That's it. When you see my wife's ring. Dude, yeah, it's awesome. Thank you. Enough said. You shoved it in a bunch of cocktails. You shoved a ring in cocktail sauce. And you're like.
Come on. You know what? This is your interview, Lou. This is your interview. That was my time with my woman. There you go. I knew I loved that woman and that was the most important day of my life because I decided to be with her. Beautiful. Nice. Next question. I like it. I'm a puncher. All right. Here's your question. Is that the sky? I'm talking to you. He's pasty today. What's going on with you? You're leaving your house. You only get to take... The house is on fire. You only get to take one movie with you. One of your DVDs. I don't even have to say it. Scarface. Really? Hands down, Scarface. How many times have you seen Scarface? Oh, my. Did you just take a bite of that? You leave him alone. You're being interviewed right now. He's a guest. You leave my friend alone. What's the matter with you? You guys have to continue doing a show together on the weekends. I just don't understand. It bums me out. It's so funny to listen to you guys. No, because we go too easy to be like, I'll send... We're interviewing the guy. He takes a giant bite of cupcake. Eddie, was it like... I have a legitimate question. Was it professional? Was it like that with you guys, like, first day? Or did it take a while for you guys to feel comfortable? I've known Lou since he played. No, it's been a while. We've been, yeah, come on now. You know, when I covered the Chargers back, you know, in like 98, 97, 98, I knew him and we would, you know...
have this kind of rapport back at his old restaurant so he's loose. And so, you know, when the opportunity came up for the pregame show and we were throwing names around, I immediately was like, oh, you got to get Lou Bush. You got to get Lou Bush. And the minute we got on the air together, it was like that. Was it really? Well, kind of because... I remember when things would go... I remember when things would always get heated. It's like if the Chargers played Kansas City. I remember there would be things that would be discussed. Well, he has ridiculous opinions about Kansas City because he played for the Chiefs for a little bit. And so he's got ridiculous opinions about the Chiefs. And he does too about the Chargers. No, I'm smart. And the 49ers. I make a lot of sense when I talk. He has a ridiculous mindset when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers. They're the greatest team of all time. Oh, there you go. Is Mike Costa somewhere? I thought the Raiders... Five world championships. When was the last? Doesn't matter. We got five. We got five. Okay, okay. What's the last winning record? It doesn't matter. I can go five. Good point. What's in your CD player right now, Lou? Actually, Eckhart Tolle's Living in the Now. What is that? It's a video book. Holy Toledo. Very interesting stuff. What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you? Ooh, that's... Dang, there's so many. That one time you tried to tackle Barry Sanders.
Wait, now Eddie wants a fist bump. Now Eddie wants a fist bump. Lou's not giving me a fist bump on that one. By that time you said Joe's Crabjack is your favorite restaurant. You know, this is funny. This is amusing, dude. I'm not even going to sit here and react to this crap. I enjoy Joe's. He can kiss mine, you know what. Stop it, Eddie. Gary. You leave you alone. I'm sorry. I want to know what the most embarrassing situation Lou's ever been in. Oh, boy. Can't say that one? No, I can't say that one. It wasn't me, but it was like my family kind of one of those settings. Yeah. When I was about 15, I will never forget it. We're going to see the color purple. You remember? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And my dad, my mom, my dad was stuck in the 70s. Mm-hmm. I mean, literally. He had these pants, dude. They were like acid wash. And he had sent them out and got them pressed. And my mom's like, let's go to the movie. And I was like, so we're getting ready to go to the movie. And he put those pants on. I remember we walked out of the house. She was like, I cannot believe. You all went together? Yeah. So we get over there. And my mom's like, drop us off in the front. Drop us off. Because I'm not going to be seen when she walk in here with these pants on. And so we get in. She gets popcorn. She's like, you wait in the lobby for your dad. I was like, man. So I'm standing there. I'm looking around like, dude, he's just.
And he walked in, and you ever seen, you've been somewhere, and everybody just, it's just, it's like everybody notices and goes, ooh. And he was like, packing his cigarettes, and he was like, yeah. And walked over to me, just walk, let's go, let's go, let's go. That was pretty. I'm boring, dude. I'm just a boring dude. When you got in trouble, did you get whooped? Yes. What was the worst you got it for? Don't you put that in your mouth. What's the deal, man? Can't you wait until you're done with the interview? What was the worst? A cupcake will last. What was the worst you got it for? Worst I got it for... I don't know. You don't remember? Worst I got it for... Probably sneaking out of the house. Really? Yeah.
Can't sneak out of the house. Actually, I made the person in the bed. And it's so stupid. Dude, I was getting off restriction like two days later and snuck out and the dogs were barking. And I was gone already. My sister's telling me a story after I get beat down. But she's like, oh yeah, the dogs were barking. I went upstairs to see where you were. If you were talking out the window. Now I threw the sheets back, you were gone. So I told mom, I went. But that was like the worst because he was like, I'm going to. Matter of fact, he needed to do it until the next day. Because he's like, if I hit you, I might kill you. But I'm going to get you tomorrow. I wanted to ask Lou questions. There's some things I don't know about Lou, so I want to get to know Lou a little bit. All right, we're going to sit here and do news with us. We're going to talk about stuff. And I want to hear your input, if you have any, on any of this stuff. Oh, no. Brittany's back in court today. She's trying to avoid a psych evaluation that they're trying to give her. She's trying to avoid it. Right. Yeah, well, because...
Basically, they want to give her a psych evaluation. And if they do it through the court, then that can be used in court in the custody hearing. But she wants to do something that's like a monitored visit with the boys in a therapeutic setting. Oh, that's just a way to get to see them. Yeah, it's a way for her to see the boys. And also, if she goes to a doctor that's not through the courts, then that is private information through doctor-client privilege. So, of course, KFED's lawyer doesn't want any of that. So, she showed up in court this morning, but I was just reading that she showed up for a couple minutes and then left. That's real weird how she does that. How she'll do an appearance for two minutes and leave. Yeah. Like, what's the point of going? Lou, did you see Ashley on American Idol last night? Dude, I did. I cut the last part of it. My daughter's like, don't you know her? Yeah, yeah. Ashley, I was rooting for you. I really hoped you would have got through there. Thanks, Lou. Cut 21. Nothing like Sarah Mark on the floor and... This is all your fault because you closed your official way of the door. So I've been acting so cold. You ever hear of a guy named William Hung? Compare me to William Hung, which is probably the biggest insult ever. It's a passion. You feel it, though. It's all about passion. It is. You go, girl. It will get you as far as you want it to. That's right. You just keep remembering that. You create your own destiny. John Gruden and GM Bruce Allen.
are going to be with the Bucs through 2011. I guess winning that division helped. That's right. They love him there. Big Chucky. T.O. just got a $3 million signing bonus from Jerry Jones. It's a roster bonus. Basically, if he's going to stay on the team, he was going to get this bonus. Jerry Jones says, I'll pay it. Well, he had 15 touchdowns this year, too. He was their playmaker, so it was a difference. And look at his attitude. Who ever thought? When you were in the league, Lou, did they teach you guys how to plan with your money? Yeah. You know what? The league stays away from that because they don't get sued. Honestly, they'll go, hey, talk to these people. And usually, because they can't go, hey, deal with these people. You lose your money, they get sued. So they can say, you should. Anybody ever say to you, hey, Lou, you're probably only going to have this number of years in the league? What number do they give you? How long do they tell you? Honestly, I came in and was like, you know, you'd be lucky. The league average was 3.3. My first goal was because I wanted to get vested. Three years? 3.3 years. But think about it. That's when you get vested, when you get a retirement. If the guy's three or less, uh-uh. How long were you in?
I did 10. Holy Toledo. Okay, so once you're in there for a certain amount of years, you get a pension. Yes. But that's not until you reach a certain age. 65. It's like any other pension. Yeah. Which is funny. People always think, oh, you kept collecting your pension? Huh? Well, that's a deal, man. If you're in the NFL, you're making pretty decent money. But unless you know what to do with it, when you get out, you don't have a job anymore. No. Like you're unemployed. It's not like you have skills that you can go, hey, what'd you do for 10 years? Well, I tackle people. Right. I can tackle them. I can run through. I can't be the office linebacker, that kind of thing. Let's see. Chargers fired a couple of coaches. James Lofton. You know what? No, I can't. I expected Sammons, the running best coach, because I didn't think he clicked with the players a little bit. He's different. He's a cool guy, but he's different. What do you mean different? Different in that he's... What's his style? You know what? He's a college-style coach. He came from University of Washington, was in Baltimore for a few years, and then came here from there, and I just think he was... No, these are, it's an older group. But Luke, to a guy like me that has never played in college, never played in the pro, what does that mean? More like if I'm watching film with you, I'm trying to tell you, like if you were telling somebody how to do radio, like you're telling, you're going to cover everything. Whereas if the guy's experienced, you don't have to say certain things. Like LT knows how to act. He knows what, I mean, most plays. Okay, I have a question about that then. What, at the professional level,
What are you being coached on that you haven't learned? Honestly, you are working with your coach. Literally. You guys are... You put a game plan together. I got to go out and execute it. And then all we're doing is watching a film and go, where's the breakdown? Okay, you can do this better. All he's doing is pointing out what... He's an observer of your performance. And that's all he's doing is basically telling you... And the opposing team. Exactly. So a professional coach... His job is to basically point out little errors and correct them. Nuances in the game. What percentage of a professional football player, professional coach in the NFL, what percentage is motivating a player? You know what? I think it's a bonus when you get a coach like that. I've had coaches that are like that. I have coaches that are technical, talk about it, and then move on. But you've got some guys... You know, they tie it all in like, hey, man, somebody's trying to take your livelihood. You know, they motivate you. I don't know. Honestly, I would say probably some try to be, but they're not. But there's probably, you know, 40% that are good at it. You know, they're really good. That's their thing. That means 60% are not necessarily motivators, but they can somehow do the job and get the job done. Now, this leads me to my next question. Because this confused me.
James Loftin, wide receiver coach, San Diego Chargers. Matt Simon, running back coach, San Diego Chargers. Fired. And I think to myself, what is it that you measure someone's success upon? I mean, they had a good season. And those particular positions seem to be okay. When I looked at that, I immediately thought, okay, well... James Loftin wasn't a Norv Turner hire. He was hired by Marty Schottenheimer in 2002. I'm sure that the Spanos or A.J. Smith really liked James Loftin and told Norv, hey, when we hire you, this guy, we want to keep him on your staff. And they were fine with it, and he was probably fine with that. He gave it a year. If he didn't feel like James Loftin really understood Norv Turner's philosophy, he probably went to A.J. and said, listen. We had a great season. Nothing that James did was wrong, but he's not really getting what I want to do, so I'd like to bring in one of my guys as a wide receiver coach. I wonder what that means, because I bet you're right, but I wonder what it means. What would his guy do differently? That is the million-dollar question. Honestly, you're talking about a guy who's a Hall of Famer.
I said, Lou, what a bonus to have a guy like James Lofton to go to and say, hey, man, I can't seem to get separation from so-and-so. Is there anything you can give me that would help? That's a great guy to ask. Lou said something one time in here as a linebacker, because that's the position Lou played. And Lou said something in here as a linebacker that if you're listening on the radio, you may have not ever heard in your life that you can tell your kid, like you were talking about. How to hit. Yeah. Like, how to hit. I mean, it sounds very simple, but you ask somebody, what's the way to hit in the, you know, right? What's the right way to hit? Without hurting yourself. Without hurting yourself. Lou said, keep your eyes open. See what you hit. Don't close your eyes. Look straight at them. Who said that? Oh, me and Eddie. We've been, oh, that guy drives us so crazy. So, so crazy. But he's going to be gone. Yeah.
And replace you with who? Well, that's why they drafted Eric Weddle. And Marlon, I think he lost a step this year. He was out of position 90% of the time this season. And so they're going to let him go for sure. And they may draft another guy. They may sign another free agent just for depth, that kind of thing. Zeth asked me, who would I like? And I go, well... The Eagles are thinking about getting rid of Brian Dawkins, and I'm like, ooh, man. I wish we could get that guy. I would love to see Brian Dawkins in a Chargers uniform. We've been trying to replace Rodney Harrison, honestly, since we let him go, literally. And to get a guy, I mean, you have two quarterbacks on the football field, and I need to attest to this, in your secondary that sets an attitude, a tone, and we haven't had that. We haven't had that guy out there that's like, ooh, because I'll tell you right now, Rodney, Jim, I mean, Jim Brown, excuse me, Tim Brown up in Oakland, he's going to be a Hall of Fame guy. I mean, a great football player. But he was scared of Rodney. I mean, he wouldn't come in that middle. I mean, literally, you see the fear in this man's eyes. Really? He'd get that short. I'm like, I'm not going in there. The guy hit hard. He will kill you. I mean, I've seen, honestly, him flip, guys, and you go, ooh.
You guys better come get this. Where did he go to college? He went to Northern Illinois. Really? A little school. I remember when he came in. What makes the difference to a guy that just likes to punish people as opposed to a guy that just does what he does? Rodney Harrison hit harder than your average human being. What people don't understand either is Rodney probably got fined anywhere from $2,000 to $250,000 a year. Every year. Really? When he's retired, I want to know exactly what the final number was when he got fined. But in his mindset, he was like, you know what? It's worth it if I intimidate that guy to help my team win. I mean, that's how committed he is to winning. And, you know, it's a rarity to find a guy like that. Brian Dawkins is the same kind of player. But we need to get something like that in here just to shake things up. Because you know what? I think they said today Paul Oliver, the guy they drafted in the supplemental last year, they were moving him to safety. But it's unknown. But who knows? Sky, what is the lineup at Coachella? They just announced the Coachella lineup. And I don't even know when it is or what. Yeah, it's April 25th in Indio, you know, like it is every year in Indio out there. So, okay, pretty cool. Well, depending on what you like. But Jack Johnson will be out there, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, the Raconteurs, the Breeders, Fat Boy Slim, Death Cab for Cutie. But the one I think is really cool is Portishead. This will be the first time that Portishead has performed in the U.S. in the last 10 years. I think I'll watch Food Network that day.
You're not going to go camp out in the desert? In the mud? Poop in an outhouse? No. No, I'm not. No kidding. The desert? I hate sand, dude. Let's see. Listen to this. Chris Daughtry is going to sing on the next Seven Dust album. Can you believe that? That is a real stretch. Yeah. I don't know. I guess they asked him to. Yep. Weird. Who's that? Chris Daughtry is the dude from American Idol. Oh, my God. Here, listen. You'll know this guy. Here is Daughtry. So you know that guy, right? You've heard that song. I've heard that song. Okay. This is seven days. Okay. Wait.
different style of music. Really different style of music. Lou's throwing up the horns. What do you guys say? Really weird. Hey, do we have the pudding interview? Do we have it, Ashley? Okay, here it is. Okay, so Ashley was... She did a radio tour this morning on the phone across the country because she was on American Idol last night. She said everybody was really nice. All these different cities. Atlanta, Detroit. And she went to all these different cities. She said everybody was nice except for one guy. I said, who was not nice? She said, a guy named Puddin in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I said, okay, let's hear it. What's up, man? What's going on there, buddy? Is this live on the air? What we're listening to right now, this is him on the air? This isn't a conversation off the air? That's what it sounds like. Yeah, this is live on the air. This was you on the air? This is the interview. You guys, didn't that sound like it was a conversation? Like, hang on a second, I'll put you on the air? So that's what I thought, too, and that's why I was so confused. Okay, cool. Here we go.
off really weird, but I kind of like it. What's going on? Are we on the air? That's cool. I'm not even saying anything. Don't give me at all. Like you're conducting the interview almost. Yeah, I know. They're just laughing. He's a DJ? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So uncomfortable. You should have gone, no, I'm not. I'm not real. Anybody who's ever heard me sing, and is that about my singing? No, I'm just thinking about like, you know, there's certain people that go on American Idol now. They mess with Idol number one, you're trying to mess with Idol in the experience. are getting through what we're trying to spell. Yeah, and I think those people look weird. You know? So where do you work, guys? Where do I work? In San Diego. Where are you guys? Oh, Michigan. Do you say the state? It sounds bigger. Well, yeah. Especially if you work in New York. Yeah. If you work in Elmira, New York, and somebody goes, hey, what market are you on in? We're in New York, bro. Okay? Really? You're on a New York City? No, no, no.
Where in New York? Elmira. Oh. Oh, oh, oh. That's the difference. It's cold there. We're on in Michigan. The whole state? Wow. That's right. We're on in Michigan. Wow. That's not healthy. I work for Rockwind 053 in San Diego. I work on The Mikey Show, and then I'm the assistant producer, but then I also talk on the air. Okay, but you're not really, like, crazy, though. You don't, like, talk about turds like we do. Hey, can you fart in the phone? Yeah. Do me a favor. Rub the phone in your breasts. So dumb. And let our listeners hear it. Right. Okay? We'll guess your bra size. That's right. And then we're going to bring... Oh, that sounds like a C-cup. Yeah. Are you a stripper? I really like that I think or think that I can't sing, but I think that I sound good, and especially if I get a good song, I think it can sound really good, especially if you...
put the right music behind it, I think it sounds... You sound great, by the way, Ashley. She's conducting herself. Yes. Fantastic. Weirdo. She's bigger than their show. Seriously. She is. Now, listen, I got to tell you something. This is what's crazy. And I don't mean this to sound mean. I'm not trying to be mean. It says we're off the air. So we had a thing pop-up that said Rock 105 is off the air. No, we're not? Yes. I don't mean it to be mean. I believe that Ashley is the bigger talent. No, no question. You know what I mean? Hands down. Okay. But let's keep listening. It's really good. Sometimes not, though. It depends on the song. Okay, but you can be honest with us. What I'm saying is when you... I can? So what you're saying is this a safe place? Okay. I can be honest because, okay, well... It was a bit, Puddin'. Yeah. What the hell? You're just, it's kind of like you went on and you're trying to get publicity for the show or for... I don't know. Have you heard me? You got me, man. You got me, dude. How did you figure it out? By the way, I just want to know, because I want to be able to, in the future, cover my tracks. How did you uncover this? Is Chris Hansen there right now? Is this Dateline? No, let's walk right into it. Go ahead. Okay, well, but do you really want to, or are you just trying to make fun of me and prove a point? No, I'd love to hear you sing. I didn't hear it last night, but, you know, I had a little clip of it. Well, sing a song that I think maybe you'd like. I love history.
Right now, he's like, what's in his head? He's like, what's the most disgusting thing I can say? She finishes his, like, fart mouth. It sounds like you're eating vomit. Yeah. Did you record that in a feces place house? I'd really like to cut you, you know that lady? You know, I really want to get in there and just... Am I what? Am I Asian? They called you like the next William Hong or something. Yeah, I think that was more them trying to make a joke about my singing as opposed to my ethnicity. I didn't watch it last night. Why am I on? Yeah. That's cool. Hey, should I come up with some topics, bro? Yeah. What else you guys got? Yeah, you hear about Heath Ledger? Crazy. Wow. What's going on in Grand Rapids? Is it cold? Is it cold? You guys got a Chick-fil-A out there? Yeah.
Yeah, kind of, but, you know, like TiVo, the American Idol. When I fast forward... Yeah, I normally do, too, because I go to bed early, too, so I... So, yeah. You're not going to come on. You're not going to admit to me that you just went on as kind of like a publicity thing? You would think that I don't... I guess it's probably because you don't know me, but, like... Let me tell you what's coming up this morning at 8 o'clock, all right? Oh, no. We're going to get this B-word on the phone. Cover some stuff. Puddin's. Call your friends right now and tell them what Puddin's about to do. She only, she works on, like, radio. That's right. She's trying to be cool and get publicity on. Nobody gets one over on Puddin. It's a small show called American Idol. Non-Puddin. Puddin on my face. You put me on? Is that it? It's part of my life, and, like, it's something that I've always done, and it's something that is, like, a passion of mine, and so I don't necessarily have...
think that maybe you have all the cards. I can see why you would think that, but it was the farthest thing from that, no. Did you use your radio name, or did you use... No, I used my... Oh, no, I used my real name. Okay. Yeah. What was your radio name? Ashley? My radio name is Ashley, and not by choice, but that's been my name for so long that I'm, like, almost more used to being called that than my real name, which I know sounds weird, but... Oh. So what do you do for the radio out there in San Diego? I'm the assistant producer on the Mikey show. And then I talk to you. That's awesome. Are you more behind the scenes or do you get on the air? She just told you. Thank you. She just told you. Right? Are you even listening? He said he's listening to the competition. Yeah, I don't blame him. Oh, no, I'm in every break. I do behind the scenes work to you. I do both. What are you guys doing today? What? What's your big thing on the Mikey show? What, are we show prepping now? We show prepping for you? The grid yet. Oh, my God. She's the best. I love her. I love her. Why? The grid is, well, Eddie's our producer, and every day he puts together a schedule. This is what we're going to do. We call it the grid. Not everybody uses a grid. Yeah, so he may not know what that meant. What do you mean? What the hell's a grid? A grid? Wait a minute. This is, hey, P-Bone. P-Bone, are you getting this down? Are you writing this down? Yeah.
Hey, ding-dong face. That's my producer, all right? Producer Penis. You go tell Fallopian to get in here and let this idea down. All right? No, we go on in about 40 minutes. This was really on their airwaves? This is the worst show I've ever done. I'm sorry. It was on the air. This was a radio interview on the air. This is like a bad pickup line, dude. He's just, okay, well. This has been going on for six minutes. It's the longest six minutes of my life. What time is it over there? Do you want to plug something? Do you want to plug your red light? Do you want people You out or what? What do I do? Hug. Seriously. I mean, for real. Yes. Dude, that's great, actually. Great answer. Oh, you are naughty. Oh, is she hot? Not bad. Are you looking at their website right now? No, I was looking at the YouTube video from last night. Thank you for coming on. How do you because it seems like you were doubting me a little bit? Yeah, absolutely. I'm a big fan, baby.
All right, because you know what, Puddin? I'm a fan of yours. All right. I'm a fan of yours. Thank you and good luck, okay? It's been a pleasure. Thank you so much. More than you know. Have a great morning. Ashley, you were great. Wow. You were great. Oh, my gosh. How ridiculous is that? You're great. It was terrible. 570-1053 is the phone number. We've got to get out of here. You guys are like 4 in the afternoon right now, so we have to go. We really do have to go. Puddin. Pudding show. Favorite. He's putting the laughs back in the morning. That's what I'm saying, Mike. Oh, man. He's putting the fun in his show. Don't worry. Party. He's putting the party in your pants. 5701053, give us a call beginning and end of every show. It's an open phone segment. We will take your phone calls. In Australia, a guy shot his co-worker while trying to rescue him from a crocodile.
Whoops. Trying to shoot the croc, but he ended up shooting and shot his friend in a steak. Why? What happened, Skye? Well, so I guess they worked for a crocodile farm, and they were out collecting crocodile eggs. And one crocodile kind of came out of, I don't know, wherever he was hiding and came out and bit one of the dude's arms and had his, you know, arm. Locked in there. And they go into what they call the death roll. Yeah. The death roll, what alligators do when they attack their prey, they bite and then they start spinning. Yeah, luckily this was on land, I believe. Oh, I wonder if they still do that. Well, I think they drag you in the water and then they do that. And then they flip, yeah. But so his buddy, who was there collecting the eggs with him, pulled out a gun, shot the gator, or the crocodile, and then went to shoot again and accidentally hit his friend in the arm. Blood. There's a heat when that happens. Yeah. So luckily it wasn't life-threatening, but I'm sure it hurt really bad. Who amongst us can't say that we've had that happen to us before, though? Exactly. It happens to the best of us. We probably deferred the pain from an alligator bite to a gunshot. It probably helped. That's true. Mikey Shell, hello. Hey, I just had a question for Mikey and Eddie. I know it's a sore subject for us San Diegans, and not for B-Rob because, you know, the Patriots and the Super Bowl and everything, but I just wanted to know,
Who you guys are rooting for this year in Super Bowl XLI? If you don't have a vested interest in it, it's kind of hard to root for anybody. But, I don't know, AFC, I guess. I've got to give my broadcast partner here credit, Lou Bush. In about week six, he said Patriots are going to go undefeated. All the way. He's right. I kind of have to say I'm rooting for the Patriots, but I want to see it. I want to see history being made. I want to be able to tell my kids, yeah, I watch that team. Thanks for the call, dude. Appreciate it. Good call, Eddie. We got more on that alligator. Stay at home daddy there. Hey, yeah, this is me. What's up, man? No, I just wanted to get your guys' comments on the guy that kind of took Ashley's spot. That guy from Chula Vista, Alberto or something with the long hair and fingernails? I didn't see it. I buzzed through it. I hit it on the TiVo. I didn't see it. Oh, so you didn't see that guy? Nope. It's a freak show. It's pretty funny. Aw. Thank you, brother. It's very earthy. P1 Chris? Hey, Mike. I was wondering if Lou Bush could give out his location of the new restaurant again. Yes, indeed. I can. 888. Is that your boy?
a blog? You want to plug something? You just text somebody to call in? Is my phone out? Did you have friends call in to do this? Who did you just text? Who did you just text to say to call in? Is this a cheap blog account here, Lou? I can't do anything. I'm pretty smart, Lou. I was texting with my toes. I thought I had to do that. I've heard about your text. Excuse me? Big dog. It's 888 South Euclid Avenue. And yeah, we'll be open in 10 days. Why don't you get some specials out, Lou? Why don't you get some specials out, Lou? Just say you heard it. Just say you heard it like the show. Yeah. Phone number, Jim. She was all over you. Wow. All over you. Wow. Unbelievable. Mikey Show, last call. Bring us home. Hey, Mikey, I just wanted to know, Ashley flows or does she freestyle? She can freestyle. How about a freestyle? Why don't you take us home with a freestyle today? Do it, Ash. Come on. Can you turn this up a little bit? Yep. Mojo, I could. You might think I'm not. That's Ashley. Thank you. I appreciate it. But I can keep going if you want me to. I don't, but thank you, Ashley. That was Ashley. Coming up next, the lovely and talented Missy. Missy, we apologize. It's 1245 right now.
I blame pudding. Today on the Nooner, they all request lunch with Missy, and we will see you tomorrow morning at 5.30. The Mikey Show's out.
