The show featured host Mikey and producer Eddie discussing the strange linguistics of the word 'estranged' before moving into personal health stories, including a gastric bypass surgery recount and a painful buttock snapping sensation likened to a uterine cramp. Later segments covered quirky topics such as an orange juice bottle creating Chinese water torture‑like noise in a car, a treadmill fitness test with a breathing mask, and body armor underwear that made the host self‑conscious about his thighs. The program also took listener calls for Weekend Worry, highlighted by a minor league baseball player’s knee injury, and included plugs for the Ashley After Show and an upcoming Jens Pulver fight.
What happened, in order
Estranged Wordplay
The hosts debate the oddness of the word "estranged," noting how it contains "strange" and playing with self‑referential language.
Gastric Bypass Story
The host describes losing weight after gastric bypass surgery, having excess skin removed, and joking that he can now self‑diagnose as an effective MD.
Buttock Pain Snapping
While crawling with his son, the host feels a snapping sensation in his buttocks that he compares to a uterine cramp.
Orange Juice Bottle Clink
A half‑empty glass Nantucket orange juice bottle rolls in the car, creating a constant clink that feels like Chinese water torture at a red light.
Treadmill Mask Test
During a fitness test the host wears a breathing mask with a tube, juts his jaw to breathe, and the treadmill incline increases 1% each minute.
Body Armor Underwear
The host wears body armor underwear under workout shorts, becomes self‑conscious as his thighs show through the fabric.
McRib Discussion
Ashley compliments a new sweater, the crew mentions adding a phone screener, and they argue whether the McRib has returned to McDonald's.
Weekend Worry Call – Marcus
A minor league baseball player calls in after injuring his knee jumping off a couch and worries about having to tell his dad.

found dead in their car. Dwyer's estranged brother says Mark used steroids and human growth hormone during his career. Really? Yeah. That is so whack. Isn't he writing a book to that effect or something? That is correct. Whose brother does that? An estranged one? That's not cool, Chetty. I agree. An estranger? What a strange word. I've never understood the word estranged. Why don't they just call it estranged? And how ironic that strange is in It's such a strange word. Yeah. You know? Like it's strange that the word, you know, a strange has the word strange in it. It's crazy. You know? It would be like having the word a hungry to describe the fact that I'm actually kind of hungry right now. Exactly. You know what I mean? Yeah. That's what I was thinking. I totally know what you mean. Or that I'm totally hungry while considering how a hungry.
Something is. You have to say it with an accent? Very weird. It has to be like your Swedish. It is on. Yours is on. Your mic is on. Hello? Oh, there you go. There you go. You're messing with my stuff. You're messing with your head. I was going to say, maybe estranged is like the internet version of strange, you know? Estranged? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like estranged. I do all my stocks and trading on estranged. They're really good. Oh. That's where I met all my crazy girlfriends on E-Strange. On that dating service. It didn't work out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you want to crazy, that is the place to go. E-Strange. And they play that Motown song when they do the commercials. Yeah. But the commercial is two people fighting. Neverlasting crazy, it will be. Yeah. That is an annoying song in that commercial, I think. I agree with you. I wish they would have thought of something like more contemporary and kind of hip and cool. Tears of a Clown. Yes. Absolutely. A weird choice. When Smokey Sings. Yeah. You guys know that song? I know it. You don't know that song? I know it. It's my favorite song. Depeche Mode. I'm serious. Blasphemous Rumors. What about that song? Clearly. I was telling this guy, I jacked myself up and I don't know how. I think it has to do with...
You know, I had gastric bypass surgery and I lost a lot of weight with the gastric bypass surgery. Well, when I lost all the weight, then they, you know, I had to have a surgery to remove all the skin because I was so big, you know, I was 324 pounds. And so I had to have a surgery to remove it. Well, when they did that, what they do is they take your skin and they actually pull it up like pants, you know? And then they suture you up and you're all, you know, taut. They smack you on the butt and send you out the door. They go, hello, Charlie. That's how they do it. And so I just have this feeling. I could be wrong. But I have this feeling that that made my body a little bowed one way or the other, you know. And I favor my left side. I do. Whenever I'm standing up, I'm always leaning on my left leg. My favorite is how you self-diagnose. You're good at it. I am. But I'm telling you, the reason that I self-diagnose so much is because I've become such an effective MD. I can cure myself. I know the prescriptions. You should open a practice. I really should. For yourself. For myself. Just for me.
Y'all got an appointment today with me. Better call. I'm going to be late. Hey, at least I know it'll go well. You know what I'm saying? I figured out. Let's hope it doesn't, you know. That would be a tough lawsuit. Yes, that would. Be tricky. Be tricky. But I, yesterday, so last night I'm on, I'm crawling to my son and I feel this snapping, pulling feel in my buttocks. Whoa. In my buttocks. In my buttocks. Whoa. On the right side. And I mean, it hurt bad. Ouchie. Yeah. You know what it felt like? It felt like when you get a cramp in your uterus. Yes. When you get a cramp in your uterus. Those are fake. Yeah. Those are fake. You mean like your calf or something like that. Yes. But it was like that, you know. And it hurt bad. So I'm rubbing it. I don't mean to get too graphic here. Okay. A little TMI, but okay. I'm listening. I'm rubbing my bun. Okay, this is weird. You're rubbing your buttocks. Yeah. That wasn't me, Eddie. I don't know who that was. It wasn't me. I'm working it out, dog. Okay, all right, good. And when I would move it in a particular way, sharp pain, right? So I thought, okay, better not do that anymore. Went to sleep, got up this morning, it felt okay. In my car, come to a red light.
My wife had left a half-empty bottle of orange juice, and it was rolling around, and it was one of those glass Nantucket orange juice bottles. Oh, those are the good ones. So it was clinking every time it was, you know, hitting the mechanism underneath the driver's passenger seat. It was clink, clink. I was like, come on. It was. It was like a constant dripping. It was Chinese water torture. Oh, that's the worst. Oh, my. And so I am at the red light, take my seatbelt off. Lean over to get it. And I hear in my ears snap, crackle, pop. I mean, it was like I had put my finger in a light socket. It hurt so bad. And so I don't know what's going on in there. I have a theory. What? Because this happens to me sometimes. if I don't work out for a while and then I start to work out, and, like, you're working your muscles and you're building them up, and then if, like, you're maybe sore or your muscles are maybe healing from working up so much, and then if you do a sudden movement or something, you might just be like, and I'll, I mean, I'll feel like a pain that I'm just like, oh, bro, oh. Is it a centralized area and you'll feel it too? Oh, yeah. Yeah, and it'll be just like a sharp where you're just like, oh, that ain't right, bro, that ain't right. What do you do? You just kind of wait, right? Hot, cold, hot, cold. What does that mean? You got to put the heat on it and then you put the cold on it.
Tiger Balm, bro. Yeah. Tiger Balm. What is that? Oh, it's... Heard of it. I don't have a clue what it is. You don't need that voodoo. It's like... Voodoo? It's Bengay, basically, but it's called Tiger Balm, and it comes in this little thing that looks like lip balm, and you go, oh, real nice, rub it on. What's its purpose? It does the same thing? It's hot? It's all hot, yeah. Yeah, it relaxes the muscle to feel it. Oh, it feels so good. But if you have a heating pad or anything like that... Nah, just rub some of that on your butt. Just sit on a fire. Wait. No, that's not a good recommendation. Eddie, what happens? Does it kind of go away on its own? Yeah, it will. It should. It should. I mean, you know, if you're still working out, though, you could injure it further. So I would probably take a couple days off. You guys would have found me delicious at Frog's Fitness yesterday. Oh, what I would have given. Oh, my goodness. If you guys could have taken a picture of me, you could have blackmailed me. I would have preferred video, but okay. Oh, the blackmail, you could say, all right, dude. Just give me this, and if not, check out the picture. And I'd be like, anything you want, anything you want. What were we working with? Dude, so she wants, Wendy, best trainer in the world, she wants to get the exact window of my heart rate for optimum fat burning, right? And she wants to do it the right way. Well, the right way is to put this just goofy mask on me. Shut up.
That has a white tube that comes out of it. Shut up. Nice. Okay. And, you know, straps around my head. Oh, yeah, it has to be secure. Yep. Yep. And you pull it real tight, right? What? And in order for me to kind of be able to breathe very freely. Breathe again. Breathe again. All right. In order for me to breathe very clearly, I found... I had to jut my bottom jaw out like this so that I could breathe. And when I didn't do that, I couldn't breathe as good. So I was jutting out my bottom jaw as I was doing it. And then she puts me on a, she puts me on a treadmill and every minute she increases the, what's the word? Elevation. Yep. The incline. The incline. 1% every minute. And, you know, we get to the end of this test takes 15 minutes, you know, where they're going up 1%. Oh, good times. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so I'm at, I ended it at 11% because they put you for a few minutes at the same one in the beginning. And dude, I am huffing. Oh, I bet. Sure. Because she's got it. Basically, the point of it is they have to take you to where you're just absolutely taxed. And so I'm jutting my jaw out.
with this mask on and the tube coming out of my face and you know and i'm not that i'm not very good looking anyway and i'm art and so here i am you know in these workout shorts that are too small on my you know chubby thighs you know and my thighs you know look unattractive you know what are you wearing dolphin shorts no no no daisy dukes daisy dukes No, what I do, Sky, I put on those body armor underwear, okay? And then over that, I put on, you know, workout trunks. Like basketball-type shorts? Basketball-type shorts. Okay, so your thighs are covered. No, no, no. Every once in a while. Because it sticks out the bottom, you know, almost. It sticks out the bottom. And I can see how fat my thighs are. Because it's hugging my thighs. Oh, you are cute. And I'll look down at them and I'll go. And I'll go, oh, that's hideous. That is not. And I'm just praying. Come on, you're working on it. Yeah, I'm working on it. And I'm just hoping that Wendy isn't judging me and everything. She is. Yeah. Well, she definitely is, but she'll never say it. She's very nice. She's super sweet. But just know that she is. Yeah, it's internal. And everybody in the gym.
Yeah, but they don't matter. You'll never talk to them. Well, see, Eddie, that hurts a little bit. Well, everybody does. I mean, that's what gyms are all about. Harmless. Yeah. I mean, that's what gyms are for. Yeah. And so then I'm sort of fixated in my mind about what my thighs look like. Oh, no. I can relate. And then. You're a female. And then. I know. And then let me tell you this. Yeah? They had to. I had to go into. Oh, she says. let's put the heart monitor on you. Okay. And so I'm very, you know, I'm trying to be very discreet in putting this on under my shirt so that she doesn't see my, my body and my big breasts, you know, my big, my boobs, my moobs, my man boobs, my moobs. Oh yeah. So I'm trying to be discreet, you know, and I'm standing up real tall like I'm buffed. This is the best story ever. And I'm putting it on underneath the shirt and I'm like, you know, sucking in like, oh boy, look at that. Is it a strap or is it? It goes all the way around and it attaches at the other end, you know. And so finally she says, do you want to just go to the bathroom and just put it on the bathroom if you want to?
She can see that I'm taking so much time with not exposing my body that, hey, listen, if you're more comfortable, you know, because this is uncomfortable for both of us at this point, you know. And so I said, yeah, it's good. So I went in and, you know, put it on. And then what happens is I then become the girl that's wearing a sports bra too small for her, you know. So now I have my boobs are pouring over, you know, just a little bit. Just a little bit. I have a little bit pouring out of the top of the strap, you know. It happens, Mike. You know, and so. But the guys like that, so. Yeah. It's true. Yeah, they do. And they don't judge it. Nope. So then I went out and back to where she was, and then I put the mask on, you know. So now I got the thighs and the sports bra. Yeah. And the mask. Oh, boy. I highly doubt Frog's Fitness keeps security footage. We shouldn't check. Yeah, we shouldn't look into that. No, I wouldn't. Definitely not necessary. And while we were in a small room the size of a closet, the size of a big closet, like a walk-in closet, we're in this small room, and the door is closed, but there's a window on the door.
And so people aren't being rude, but as they're walking by, they double take. They can't help it. They're human. They're people. Yeah, it's like you're in the zoo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a unicorn. It's a unicorn in the gym. There's a unicorn man with a mask on on a treadmill in there. One of the monkeys is wearing a mask. Yeah, exactly. On a treadmill? Monkey wearing a mask on a treadmill and a sports bra. No, you know what? I'm good. Nothing to see here. Oh, you're delightful. So every once in a while, when somebody I thought stared too long for my boundary level, While I was walking, I would give them a military salute. That is how you're supposed to handle that. That is how you do that. I don't know. No, it is. That is great. I love it. So there you guys go. That's great. Good times. I'm Mikey. Oof. Hunky host of your show. Hunky, you mean dreamy. Yep. Of course. Delight. Meow. Meow. That's right, meow.
Get a load of this. Yeah, dude. Eddie is our producer. He is our sports guy. He's 35 years of age. And he resides in the community of La Mesa, which means the shelf. Is that correct? The shelf? The cabinet. The cabinet. The jewel of the hills. The jewel of the hills. That's all I know. Something's the shelf. Maybe it's El Cajon is the box. Escondido is... That's like Latin. Pacific Beach is the trash can. Yes, it is. The toilet. Well, that's what people have been using it as lately. I'm sorry. There's bathrooms, you know. I know it's one in the morning, but you can find one. It's easier. Outside the 7-Eleven. I'm not bothering anybody. Maybe it is bothering people. If you're that close, there's something wrong with you. I'm not close, but I'm just trying to get a slurpee. When he's there, he wears a bumper sticker on the back of his jeans that says, if you can read this, you're too close. Skye is our news girl. She's 31 years of age, and today she's got on a sweater. She looks great.
Oh, wow. Thank you. Look at that. Great. Ashley likes my new sweater. Love it. That's right. Ashley is our assistant producer. She's 25 years of age. And she is in another studio. For those of you that are trying to get a visual of it, she's in another studio. And so is Boston Rob. He is in another studio, too. He's screening phone calls. Not for long. We understand that on Monday, we should have... A phone screener. Wow, really? Just like that? Yeah, that's what Shauna's telling us. That'd be terrific. That'd be very terrific. Terrific. So we're working. We're working it. Hold on for that. That's huge. We're going to have a phone screener. Yeah. Let's see. Let's take some of your phone calls at 570-1053. And our text number is 35253, which we're already getting some of those. Yo, Mikey Show. How was the McRib yesterday? Oh, this is tough. Cruel, Mike. Yeah, I was hurt and sad. Bunch of jerks. What happened? Oh, it was a lie. It was a false lie. It was a falsity. We had a listener tell us that on Arrow and 15, the McRib was back. They knew what they were doing. That's jacked. Eddie is a McRib connoisseur. Thank you. An advocate, really. Yes. An advocate. Yeah, he is. He's an advocate. All right.
And, yeah, I drove through there yesterday and the guy said, nope. I said, yeah, is the McRib? Because I didn't see any McRib signs. Yeah, and you know they'd be plastered everywhere. And I said, hey, can I talk to the McRib? And the guy says, nope, they're not here. And I was so hurt. Oh, it's so wrong. Drove to the window and I said, what's the deal? And he said, I don't know, but. Everybody, there's a lot of people asking for it. They're all Mikey show listeners. Of course. You got the memo. I'm going to be bum rushed. Dude, what is up with that guy? You know, it's not right, man. Yeah, it's messed up. But, you know, the bigger picture here is, McDonald's, why? You know, just give it to us. Put it on the menu. It's clear. It's popular, right? We want it. Yeah. Like, you know, the public has spoken. But they want to make it special. Is it not going to be special? What if every day was Christmas? Please. I would love it. You'd be happy. I would love it. No, it wouldn't be as special. Is it not going to be as juicy, Skye? Well, no, I'm not saying it would be. Is it not going to be as saucy? Well, I'm not saying that. It is. It's going to be delicious. There's two pickles on there. If things are limited, you know, they're going to be more special. Put off the right, Mary McCheese. Yes, dude. Send him a letter. I will. I will.
Medition Mayor McKeown. I'm going to. Do it. Give it to us, man. I know. It's a bummer. Please. I'm sorry. Please. I'm sorry, man. Oh, my goodness. It's not a good way to start the morning. No, it isn't. Eddie's very feisty today. I know. I was really wanting one yesterday. That's all I talked about. It's true. They're delicious. Mike, they're so good, man. You guys calm down. I mean. We didn't have a lot of phone calls. They look like ribs. But they're not. They're not. P1 Brian. Hey, what's up? What's going on? How are you guys doing? You guys are cracking me up right now. We're good. Thank you. Not so good, actually. Yeah, well, you know, it's this McRib, man. I don't know if you heard that, but... Well, the McRib has... It's actually been... It's like Play-Doh. They actually have a machine that makes it look like ribs. I'm good with that. I'm good with that. Oh, yeah. It's so gross. Talking about it. So perfect. That's right. Yuck. They should... Hey, so I was calling to tell you what was wrong with your buttock pain. Please.
There's a nerve called the sciatic nerve that runs down your butt, and that's what you tweak. Now, you've got to know, man, this thing is kind of high towards my waist. It's kind of high up towards my waist. It goes right through your glutes and all the way up into your back. My glutes. Commonly, people that get real tight, pull their back muscles. It sounds like you were crawling with your son, yeah? Yep. We see it all the time in our office. Brian, what shall I do about this? Well, you should stretch. That's the first thing. There's a stretch where if you're sitting there at your desk, you cross your leg, kind of like you're putting on your shoes. You can stretch to your glute. That whole complex. I was trying to stretch a little bit, but like I said, when I stretched in a certain way, there was a sharp pain. Yeah. Well, you've got to kind of find that position as best you can. That doesn't stab you in the butt, but that's the best way because it's pretty common to see that. People get it all the time, sciatic pain. You can Google it, check it out. It's kind of embarrassing, you know? Google it. You can Google it. It's kind of a... What do you do? I'm a physical therapist. Right on. Ooh, hot. Ooh, hot. Nice. Is that a hot thing to a girl? Physical therapist? I'm into it. You are? That's strange. Personally. No, seriously. Is that weird? No. No, no, no. Because I think that some... There are some jobs that are just kind of... Like, I knew a guy that thought that bank tellers...
He'd love to date a bank teller. He just thought that was a real cool thing. That's kind of cool. I read yesterday that there's a new website for people who think chicks are hot who wear the little... telephone headsets. Really? And they have a whole website set up. I think it's like headphone hotties or something. And it shows pictures of chicks from different ads that have the little telephone headsets on. Nothing for me. Eddie, do you think that's cute? No, it doesn't do well. Nothing for me. Well, we're all different. Yeah, we're all different. You know, different flavors. Belunder always wanted to date a girl from Olive Garden. Eddie. I'm not kidding. We know what you're doing. I'm not kidding. Eddie. He really did? He really did. Like, he thought. Olive Garden girls were, like, top of the food chain. Well, when you're there, you're family. Yeah. And so, you know, I mean, I always told them, like, dude, you're more of an Applebee's guy. Like, sorry. Sorry, bro. You'll never make it to Olive Garden.
Wow. Someday. Keep dreaming. Keep trying. Keep trying. See, I was thinking he's more like Red Lobster. I don't know. Wow. I don't know why. The fish nickname maybe that like put my head there. Yeah. I was thinking cheese biscuits. Okay. What is she saying? How do you even know that? Eddie, do you have a strange thing that you find cute? Probably boobs, Mike. Okay. That's different. That's different. Definitely. It's my thing. You're very unique. I'm really into it. Very unique. P1 Charlie. What's going on? I just went to the chiropractor a couple of weeks ago because I pulled a muscle in my neck. And I was under the impression that he'd as well. And I really hate to disagree with anything that Eddie has to say because he's normally right on. He's the best. It's okay. Go right ahead, sir. He's a doctor. Not really, Scott. What? What was that? That didn't even make sense. I don't understand either. But what is the deal? Icing. Icing. 15 to 20 minutes.
For the first 72 hours, all you want to do is ice. No longer than 20 minutes, though. But, like, take an hour off in between icing cycles. Yeah. And he said no heat whatsoever. What about Tiger Ball? For a pulled muscle? For a pulled muscle. I know, Eddie. And this is a chiropractor that works for the Chargers, Dr. Higgins' office. I mean, every pulled muscle I've ever had, I've always been told to put heat on it. So I don't know. That's interesting. Maybe I could do both. Yeah. Can't hurt, right? Lukewarm. Do something lukewarm. Right in the middle. Why don't I just put like a computer mouse on it since it's not hot, it's not cold. Have Rob go over there and go. I love it. Hey, thank you. After the first 72 hours, then you heat. But he said it dilates the blood vessels and stops the healing process in the first 72 hours. Stretch and ice. Thank you, Charlie. I appreciate it, man. Charlie. Charlie. P1 Derek. What's going on, guys? What's up, dude? Hey, I was just kind of wondering this morning. What do you guys listen to on the radio on your way to work in the morning? Listen to on the radio? Or even if it's a CD. What do you listen to on the way to work?
You know, that's a good question. I love those questions because it gives us an indication of what we're like. I listen to a couple of different things. I listen to sports sometimes. I have the Sirius. I have the Sirius satellite. And so I'll listen to sports on that sometimes. Yeah. I mean, that's a legitimate question. That's not even what she's asking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a part of it. Definitely. Wow. So I'll listen to the series and I'll listen to sports sometimes. I also have theology lectures on my iPod. Yes. Wow. You are very studious. Yes. And I will listen to theology lectures sometimes. Sometimes I'll listen to playlists that I've made on my iPod, and that's the three things I usually generally stick to. Occasionally, I will listen to Dr. Laura or Jim Rome or something. Eddie. Listen to the same thing every morning. Yeah? I listen to Sports Talk on 1360. Yeah. Wow. That's good stuff. Yeah. That's good stuff. I like the show. It's based out of Washington.
Yeah. I listen to them every day. Skee-ball. Well, my CD player only works about 5% of the time. Oh, boy. Yeah, but that's only true 46% of the time. Right. So when it's working, I listen to it. And when it's not, I have 12 stations that I choose between. And I normally, like, go through the 12 stations probably, like, four or five times driving down. So you find a song you like? So I find a song, and then I stop, and then I go da-da-da-da. About you, Ashley. I burn my own CDs. Probably once a week or once every two weeks, I'll make myself a new CD with all the new, relevant hip-hop and songs that have come out. Will you make me a copy next time you do? I just made a sick one with the new Eminem, dude. The new Eminem, the new Carrie Hilson with Lil Wayne. Will you make me a copy? I would love to hear what that's all about. With 50 Cent and Dr. Dre called Crack a Bottle or Crackin' Bottles. It's so good. Is it in the system? You know, I don't know, but if it isn't, I'll order it. It's such a great song. And then I'll just listen to that. Rob, what do you do? Now you go.
I got a bunch of... Boston, Boston. I love Boston. Yeah, there it is. Look at me. I'm over here with my new laptop checking my emails. I'm so fancy, man. Why is his comeback always to Eddie? You're checking your email. Because the guy is just the email chauvinist. I don't know. Oh, I got email, Gmail, Yahoo. I don't have any of those things. He checks his email. more than I check my emails. And how is that an insult that you check your emails? Burn! I don't know, but it cuts to the bone. No, I got either Dropkick Murphys or Mitch Hedberg, and I want to get some Stephen Wright stuff, but all I've been listening to is comedy, and if not, I actually shut my radio off and try to think of jokes. There you go. Wow. There you go, Derek. Cool, man, thanks. Right on, brother. Is it going to rain today, Sky, or what's the deal? Sky, give us a time. Will you shut up with that? No, I...
I think we're okay. I don't know. All right. That was so good. That's a pretty good one, Sky. Eddie, what are the Vegas odds? I think we got a couple days until rain moves back in. I wish that you worked for Channel 5 and that was what you said. You're standing in front of a map and you go, I think we're good. We may have rain in this area covering the whole U.S. That's awesome. Very specific. Very efficient. Hey, welcome P1 Adam and P1 Gabby to the studio. They have... They have on their backstage, laminated backstage Mikey Show passes. And they won P1 trivia. They get to come and hang out. And with the layoffs. Layoffs? The layoffs that went on. You know, we lost Sean and Zeth to the big Clear Channel layoffs. Did Zeth have the chance to, like, get food in here today or no? Ashley took it over. Look at you, Ash. Who's coming in today? It's him. Who do you think, Mike? It's going to be... The deliciousness that is divine possibility. There you go. Of course. They're so good. They helped us out big time in a pinch. Yeah, big time. That's cool. That's cool. Well, so welcome Gabby and Adam. Big show for you today. On the show, we are going to be doing Weekend Worry Awards. So get ready to call. Oh, boy. You mean to tell me you built a time machine out of a comic club? Doc, this is heavy. No, no, no. This sucker's electrical. See, a lot of people, when I'm talking about AIS, it can be that there's a certain tune-out factor that happens in your head where you just go, well, I'm hearing an advertisement. And I just want to petition to you.
And let you know that this is really, really for real. It isn't about you going out and spending money. It's about you actually saving money from money that you're spending right now. You're probably spending too much money writing out checks to your current auto insurance company. You're probably doing that. And so you should be calling AIS. 1-800-777-4AIS. If you haven't done it yet, then you're needlessly writing out a check for your insurance company for too much money. So give AIS a call. 1-800-777-4AIS. Hey, it's Boston Rob from The Mikey Show. During the holidays, I made a lot of calls back home to the East Coast, and I never had to watch my minutes because I have Time Warner's home phone service. Time Warner's free long distance calling plan is wicked awesome. I can spend as much time as I want talking to all my family back east. And if I want to drop my family an email, I get it done with their Roadrunner internet service. Time Warner's Roadrunner internet service is 20 times faster than AT&T's basic DSL.
During the holidays, I finished all my online shopping with a quickness. And I am never waiting when it comes to Roadrunner High Speed Online. It's wicked fast and blows DSL away. The coastal ride's looking okay on South Ponset of the 5. Maybe a minor delay through Encinitas. Getting reports of some scattered isolated showers in some parts of the county, too, making the roadways just slick enough to cause some problems. So be careful out there. West 94 on the King Freeway, that's pretty backed up from Federal. Passed an earlier accident near Kelton, and that solar ride continues all the way now into downtown. And you're picking up some heavy brake lights now out of the South Bay and some rain down there as well. Both the 5 and the 805 northbound pretty stacked up out of Chula Vista up to National City. 805 continues slow, pretty solid, all the way to North Park. Welcome back. It is 643. Well, this is hard to believe, but I guess there's a huge demand out there for Aretha Franklin's inaugural hat. Two days after being called out by Troy Aikman, Tony Romo vows to be more of a leader. Sky just read that and looked at me and mouthed, I don't know. I don't know. What do you want from me? Wow. I know I want one. Yeah. Well, it's too bad, Shetty, because it was a custom-made hat. Is it expensive? Well, the one they made for her, they say that it was custom-made, is over $500. Yeah. They said the only other thing that they have that's similar to it is actually a satin ribbon, and that one costs about $200. Not the same. Yeah. Wow. So that's as good as it's going to get, people. I'm sorry. No. Stop asking about it. You can text us at 35253. P1 John from La Mesa says, Mikey, La Mesa means the table. El Cajon means the box. Escondido means hidden. Finding out new things all the time. Mikey, they have the McRib at the AM, PM. Oh, no. No. An AM, PM? Well, they don't have a McRib. That's not a McRib. No, it's not a McRib. How dare you? That's some sort of, that's some sort of AM, PM derivative. It's a ripoff. It's like the generic version. Yeah, it's a knockoff.
Please. Let's see. Mikey, I need a job. Signed P1OAW. I will screen calls for $1.50 an hour. What? No way. That is too much. Dude, I've had so many people. You're not getting paid more than me. I've had so many people text me saying, I'll screen the calls. I'm like, it's okay. Please. Please. Please. Yeah, it's illegal to have people work for free. Yeah, you can't do that. Yeah, it has to be an intern for college credit. That's right. That's how I found Skye. Skye was in college. She went to college? Yeah. Really, Rob? Hard to believe, huh? I mean, please. It's Friday. I want to be friends. Friday friend of the day. What is that laugh? I don't know, but it's jolly. Whatever it is, it's jolly. Oh, yeah. Mikey P1 Underground here. Can you send a happy birthday out to Stacy, a.k.a. Miss Carlsbad 2005. She's 24 today. Happy birthday, Stacey. Escondido is the city of choice. Or, oh, he's saying Escondido must call himself the city of choice. Is that right, Sky? Man. Do you not know anything of your community? Sky calls it Mexcondido. I do not call it that. I've never once said that. Mexcondido. There it is. There it is. No, it's a beautiful place. That's P1 third Charger fan. Parts of it.
A third Charger fan actually said it's called Mexican Dito. Let's see. Mikey, I love it when Ash says playoffs. Thanks for the podcast. Keep up the good work. P1 Art. Pick a playoffs. Do you notice it gets longer every time? It does. It does. Let's see. Is this P1 Blanca that I know? No. No, it is not. Hi, Blanca. Hi, Blanca. Hi. Good morning, everyone. What's up? Hey, I'm calling because of your sciatic nerve pain that I think that's what you have, too. In my butt? Yes. Yes. And it's like right on your waist. It's like a really sharp pain. Yes. I went to an acupuncturist because I had the exact same thing happen to me. Uh-huh. And I went to two sessions, and I'm cured. Really? Yes. Did you ever experience a feeling like a cracking or a pull? I think it was more like a pull. I don't know about the cracking. Huh. That was a fart. Oh, I didn't even realize. That's what it was. That's what you're hearing. That's what I'm hearing. Did you ever do acupuncture?
Excuse me? I'm talking to Mike if he could, because you don't like needles, right? But they've told me that it's not that bad. It's not like getting a shot. It isn't like getting a shot. Yeah, I've done it. It's not that bad? Some of them are a little pinch, but most of them are okay. Yeah? Depends where they're sticking them. You're kind of a wimp, though. Well, when they're sticking them in your face, it's a little weird. It's still weird. Well, thank you for the call. I appreciate it, Blanca. P1 BB gun. What's up? Hey, what's up, bud? P1 BB gun. I had a question. If you could have your dream job doing radio, what would you guys be doing? That's another good one. Wow. Dude, that's a good question. Wait, what's the question? Dream job outside of radio? A dream job. If you weren't doing radio, what would be your dream job? Oh, come to me last. Mine would be to write films and direct films. To write and direct the stuff that I would like. That would be my dream. To be a writer, even if it wasn't something that came out on film, just to be a writer. But hopefully to have the option of being able to write fiction or nonfiction and screenplays and direct those films. That would be great for me. Eddie? Professional fisherman. Come on. For real? But I don't want to be like out on the ocean. No, no, I don't want that. I want to be able to fish in like rivers.
Really? Is that even a thing? What? What about like... I want to catch fresh trout. Dude, what about... What are you talking about? That's what I want to do. Eddie, what about competitive? Yeah, that would be fun. Because I know they do that for like bass, but that's not really your thing, right? I wouldn't mind being on a lake, but I ain't going to the ocean. Yeah. Your favorite thing would be if there was something that involved like trout fishing. Yeah. I wonder if there is. There's got to be. There's got to be. There has to be. Don't tell me no trout farm. Yeah. Trout farm. Trout farm. Hell no. I'm going to do that. I can't see suckers fresh for you, man. That's right. I'm going to come to Eddie's Trout. That's right. You are so weird. Dude, maybe you can have like a place where you show people how to fish. Yeah. That would be rad. Yeah, in Montana. And you want to know something, dude? You want to know something? I actually, patent pending, I think that that's a real idea. Really? For real. And I'll tell you why. Because I know. It exists, doesn't it? Does it? I don't know. There are people that you can hire that will teach you and show you the proper ways to do that.
I didn't know. You don't know that. She's just trying to make you feel stupid. I hate that about her. I mean. I would bet money that if you go somewhere that's a hub of fishing. So she doesn't know. She's just saying, I bet. You bet. And she said it to me like I'm the biggest moron. You're an idiot, Mike. They have that. Like it would be, oh, patent pending. You go to a river and they teach you how to kayak. Like, duh, of course. Well, I've seen that. Kayaking is different than fishing. Yeah, I've seen that. It's the Bruce talking, okay? It's the Bruce talking. Just give her a break. No, she's gone over it. I'm tired of this. You know what I mean? He was the worst. It's been a tough week. Ashley, what would you do? Or Skye, you didn't say what Skye, you didn't say what you would do. You want to come ham taster. No, I figured it out. Money counter. I would want to be one of those machines that goes... That wouldn't work. A credit union. No. That's not him. I am grieving, Skye. That's not him. I am grieving. I liked it better when he was in here and it was his job to talk and he was silent. I know, right? Can we go back to that? That's so true. The irony. Yeah, right? Oh, my gosh. Tell you what I wouldn't do. Sam's car driver. He's going around in circles. Okay.
Constant left would be so confusing. Stop for directions. I'd be like in the infield. Where am I? I'd get to turn fly and be like, can anyone tell me? Where do I go? I mean, don't you guys get bored of making the same jokes every day? Absolutely not. I mean, yesterday we did a half hour of this while we were talking about phobia. I know I listened to it when I got home. It was great. That's right. Somebody said that Skye had go in a circle of phobia. It was just circle of phobia. Well, you did. Circle of phobia. Yeah, you were the one that said it. Yeah, but I was reading Eddie's instant message. What? What? She didn't know that. Well, for the benefit of new listeners. Shut up. Oh, no. I don't have any new listeners. One time Sky got lost going in a circle. That is true. I don't know that that's the truth. That's just what Eddie says. That's just what Eddie says. It's 100% true. Thank you. It was at La Jolla Village Square.
Where we all know it's, I mean, you go round one circle. There's no turns. You go round and around. No turns. You go all the way around. And I was standing in front of where the Tower Records was, waiting for her, and she had to call me and was like, where are you? I'm so lost. I'm like, just keep driving in a circle. I didn't know where the Tower Records was. Just keep going. It's a circle. It's a circle. You'll find me. You'll find me outside. You'll see it, you know. I'm driving around Qualcomm and I can't. Shut up. Just keep going. You'll find me. But where is section C? It's after B and before B. Just go in a circle. It's a circle. You'll get to it. So, Skye, what would you be if you weren't in radio? I don't want to say it. I love it already. I love it already. Can I? No judging. Thank you. No judging. This is safe. Just in that room or? No judging. All right. Okay. Okay. Okay. I would want to be, if I could have a dream job, I would want to be a star on Broadway. Like what? Like an actor? Like musicals. So I sing and dance. That'd be cool. Really? Yeah. You think it's like stage fright?
No, like, when I, like, sing and dance and perform, I get, like, in a... In the zone. In the zone. Yeah, like, I can't go up and, like, talk. Lyrical jive. Skye, we can make that happen. Dude! Yeah. I've thought about wanting to get into local stuff, but I'm... It's been a long time. Dancing with six-year-olds again. I'm out of tune. Because Skye can sing and she can dance. Dude, let's make this happen. Skye. I've thought about it. I've actually looked in, like, you know, for Escondido, like... Why wouldn't you? If you can sing and dance, why would you not sing and dance? I feel like I'm old. That's just because everyone in your class is 10. Well, you know, she doesn't help herself from feeling old by hanging out at the senior center. Yes, that's true. I know, right? Come on. She's Benjamin Button. I'm telling you. She's Benjamin Button. So true. Okay, so that's me. Move on. Ashley. Well, I already know. My dream job would be to be the next Ellen. Be the next Ellen? Yeah. Really? She's told me that before. Yeah, she wants to be a gay blonde. No, that's not what she is. On national television. Prior to that, it was Rosie O'Donnell. Yes, she wants to be Rosie O'Donnell. Growing up, when I was like 10, 12, I would run home, watch her show every day, and I was like, I want to be the next Rosie O'Donnell. Really? Oh, yeah. Weird. I would love it. You know what? Conversely,
I did not do that. You didn't? I did not. You were crying to Rachmaninoff. Oh, Rachmaninoff. Eddie, what does that mean when he does it that way? What does that mean? I don't know. I just want to get that context of that. Go back to checking your email stuff, guys. He got you there already. Rob, what would you do? I would like to play third base for the Boston Red Sox. No, no, no. He doesn't understand. He doesn't understand. He doesn't understand the context of the question. Let me explain. Let me explain. I don't get it. What it means is, you know, like, you know how Sky said, I can sing and I can dance. So I would. Sing and dance. Yeah, I think I got skills at third base. No. But do you believe that you have skills at the professional level of, you know what I mean? Don't, oh, why are you even considering this? I don't know. Maybe he does. I don't know. When has he ever played baseball? I don't know, but maybe he feels this. I've played baseball. In the past five years? Yes, I played on the company softball team.
Let me ask you a question. Whatever, Ellen, let me ask you a question. If you were not in radio, do you believe that you have the talent and ability to be able to be seen by the Red Sox and make the team? I don't think I would have the... No, I don't think... You wouldn't have the inns. Yeah, like, you know, I just wouldn't have got it. The connections. I probably would have never actually even pursued it, you know? But I would... My dream job would be to be, like, a funny stand-up comic. I think that, you know, that's a... All right. Cool. A funny stand-up comic that plays baseball. Yeah. Compared to the unfunny stand-up comics. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a lot out there. Are you kidding me? Wow, that went really well. Yeah? People strive for that. Well, it could be. It could be. My buttocks is sore. This is The Mikey Show. Get downloads and podcasts.

Football season's coming to an end. That means folks are getting ready to watch the big game full of 30-second commercials certain people spend around $3 million on. That's about $100,000 a second. Mm-mm, you won't see the hot life doing that. Karma Sense says it's a bad time to be hemorrhaging dummy dollars, which got me to thinking. Why do companies need 30 seconds to run their yap when one second should do the trick? Instead of some big lofty financial commercial, can't they just say, uh-oh, selling an ocean cruise? Just say, trapped on a boat? I don't care how big the game is, who got $3 million? Not me. Imagine how much good, honest beer at a tasty price that could buy. Mm! Hey, big spending is fine for fat cats, but we only need about a second to make our point, which is High Life. Watch for the High Life one-second commercial on the big game February 1st. And Ash. Mikey's show is 710.
Rob's going to like this. Preliminary details have been announced for the tax credit that's part of the new economic recovery package. Has the Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones lost his mind? Michael Irvin is set to host a new reality show where the winner will get a spot on the 80-man Cowboys roster. Oh, my gosh. What? Dude, what? Insane. What? He's going to host this reality show. Where, you know, he's going to get a bunch of wide receivers and, I think, defensive backs. And whoever wins it will get a spot on the 80-man roster to try and make the team. Okay, Eddie. Percentage chance that the person that makes the team becomes a star? You know, I don't know. It depends if they get, like, real athletes, like guys that have played college football, that just haven't made it. Yeah. Like, if they get those kind of undrafted guys, you know, if they get those kind of guys. Maybe. I'd say maybe 25% chance. Vince Papali, dude. Whatever his name is. She doesn't understand. He's going to do it. Older person. But I just saw that movie the other day. But that was not a documentary. It was not a documentary. But if they just get regular guys, 0% chance. Does it say what network that's going to be on? Spike. Oh, wow.
What's it called? That sounds kind of cool. I might watch that. Who wants to be a cowboy? I don't know. Hey, thank you to Divine Postabilities. Oh my gosh, they're so good. Yeah, they're really good. They are really, really delicious. And we have a couple of P1s in here that are eating these sandwiches right now, loving it. Yeah, Gabby was saying that she was hoping, like she was thinking last night, gosh, I hope they have divine pastabilities tomorrow. Perfect. Yeah, it's hollowed out, you know, like fresh baked bread that they stuff with pasta. And it's just delicious. It's just delicious. And for Valentine's Day, they're going to be doing heart-shaped pizzas. What? Yeah. That's cute. Yeah. So, pretty cool. They have a picture of it. I want one. And it's really cool looking. Skye, do you remember when he said it's like the first, he told me. First two weeks. First two weeks of February. First two weeks of February. Yeah. And if you've never, ever been to their website, it's torpasta.com and they are incredible food. Incredible food. Number one sandwich in San Diego. How about that? Yo. Yo, yo, yo. Very nice.
Let's see. A couple of things that I wanted to tell you about that I have not told you about. And then we will do a little weekend worry wart. Just wanted to let people know that the state has found that there are two San Diego County hospitals that have a higher than average death rate. What are they, Sky? Yeah, well, these two hospitals in San Diego County have higher than average death rates in multiple categories. So the first one is Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside. And these go back to figures from 2007 that have a higher death rate category in three different categories. Let's see. They say the worst one for them is for acute stroke. They have a 15.2% death rate, whereas the statewide death rate is 10% for strokes. So, yeah, that's Tri-City in Oceanside. And then the other one is Scripps in Chula Vista. And their worst category is brain surgery category, where they have a 15.1% death rate. Well, you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure that out. Yeah, to figure that out. Come on. I mean, please.
They have a 15.1% death rate there, where the state average is 6.7%. Really? Yeah, so those have multiple categories. Other local hospitals that have a higher than average death rate in just one category is Sharp Grossmont in La Mesa for acute stroke, Pomerado in Poway for a brain surgery, and Sharp Memorial in Kearney Mesa for acute stroke. Really? What does that even mean, though? Like, does that mean that the doctors aren't as good? Or does it mean it's just bad luck? What does that mean, that there's a higher death rate? Personally, I think that you sort of have to use your judgment on that. You obviously can't say for sure. Yeah, because it could be anything. It could be anything. You got something going on this weekend. And I'm not talking. I'm talking about big stuff. I'm talking about you have something really crazy that is going, like, for instance, people in the past have said, last week there was a guy that called in, and he said that... His name is Bruce. Oh, boy. His name is Bruce. Let it go. This guy got really upset with this guy. Yeah, a little bit. He... Well, she's a hothead. That's right. No, that's you. Oh. This guy, Bruce, is dating a girl. He was married once before, and...
During that marriage, he had a vasectomy. He is no longer married to that woman. He's now dating this new woman. They're starting to get serious. And he failed to tell her he had a vasectomy. And so he called us last Friday and said, that's what I'm doing this weekend. So what are you doing this weekend? What has you stressed out? What is tripping you out that's going on this weekend that you have some anxiety about? 570-1053 is our phone number. It's called Weekend Worry Ward. P1, Marcus or Marcos? Is it Marcus or Marcos? Marcus. What's up, Marcus? How you guys doing? Good, man. What are you worried about this weekend? This one's bad, guys. I'm a minor league baseball player, and I was drinking with my buddies the other day, just messing around, and I jumped off of the back of the couch, and I busted up my knee. Like, I need surgery.
I'm done for this season, most likely. And I have to tell my dad this weekend. Like, you know, it's bad enough that I have to go through all this, but having to tell my dad is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done. Oh, that sucks. Why your dad? You know, he's the guy who's been taking me out since I was four years old, since I could walk, you know, pretty much. Oh, no. Teaching me how to play baseball. I graduated high school. I could have gone to college. I went to play minor league ball. He supported me. This is, you know, this has been our dream. It's probably more his dream than your dream. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Parents, they get really invested. And how about having to hear that your kid was drunk, jumping off a couch, and that is how he tore his knee. Oh, dude. What are you doing, guys? That's brutal. I feel like an idiot at that, you know?
It's like these things happen, and I've dealt with my coach already, and I've dealt with the trainer, but my dad's going to be really hard. Where's your dad live? In San Diego. Dude. Oh, you're going to get a talk in, too? Yeah. He's going to bust your other knee. Yeah. So how is your dad? Is your dad like a hothead like Rob, or is your dad kind of more like a pacifist? What do we got? He's a hard ass. You know, like when we trained when I was a kid, when I was growing up. When I wanted to quit, he pushed me further. Like, you know, he was in the military. Not anymore. He retired. Kind of like that's how he sees life. He sounds really understanding. It'll be fine. It'll be fine. Do you think he'll get over it quick? Or is he kind of like Sky and just hold on to something forever and ever and ever? Oh, bing. Score one for Rob. You're so stupid today. I'm hoping that, you know, he'll support me in my rehab. The doctor said that it's messed up pretty bad. My game is speed. I mean, there's a chance that there's a real chance I may not be able to come back from this. Ashley has a question. Go ahead, Ash. So, Marcus, you say you're a minor league baseball player and that this is like you're in your father's dream. It doesn't sound like you're that upset about hurting your knee, was it? And you were drunk when it happened and all these things happened, blah. So it kind of sounds to me like you don't really care. And did you kind of?
Do it on purpose, actually, so that you can get out of baseball and you don't have to deal with your father's pressure, is my question. Wow. No, no. I appreciate that, but no. I love baseball. I am really upset, but this is what I'm dealing with now. You watch way too much One Tree Hill. Seriously. Well, it's Gossip Girl, but anyway. Oh, wow. Well, Marcus, we are going to have Rob get your number. And we would like to hear from you again on Monday and see how said conversation with dad goes. That sucks. Yeah, I will let you guys know. Thank you, brother. Appreciate it. Okay. That's Marcus. His dad might cry. He may kill him. Yeah. Like, it could go either way. Like, I mean, he was saying since he could walk, his dad's been taking him out to play ball. P1 Alcatraz. Oh, man. Yeah. What do you have going on this weekend? I am going to SeaWorld with my girlfriend and her two kids. That's frightening, dude. Don't do it. Eddie's afraid of the black and white. Very scary. Doesn't like killer whales. Well, her ex-husband is coming along as well. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait, wait. You're going to SeaWorld this weekend. Yeah. And did you say you're taking kids? Yeah, my girlfriend's kids. Okay, how old? Two and one just turned five.
Two and one just turned five. Yeah. And it's your girlfriend. It's your girlfriend, right? It's for the five-year-old's birthday. Okay. And this is your girlfriend? Yeah. Okay. And the father of the children is coming along? Yeah. How come? They've never been to SeaWorld, so he wants to be there to witness it all. And he's also in the military, so he's on lockdown. So he doesn't really spend as much time with them. Question. Yeah. How do you feel about that? I don't know. Well, I'm sorry. I'm not really sure because I'm part of these kids and I want to be able to laugh and enjoy their experience, but I don't know how that'll be with the father of the kids today. I'll be able to enjoy it as much. So how do you feel about it? I don't know. How long have you been with your girlfriend? Excuse me? How long have you been with your girlfriend? A year and a half. Okay, so you've been around. Yeah. But do you at least know that you like that he's coming along or that you don't like that he's coming along? Well, see, I'm a huge person of principle, and I'm a huge person where I believe the father should be around the kids. Yeah. So on the idea of him being there with the kids to see them at SeaWorld, I am all for.
how the reaction between us experiencing his kids' time at SeaWorld, I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to enjoy it. Yeah, and see, I've talked about this. We talked about this last week. My personal thought on it is that whole thing that goes back to consequence. You know, she's got a new boyfriend, and they're sort of wanting to live in both worlds. Yeah, I have a new boyfriend, but I want to still live in the old world when I was married and I want to pretend I want to have, you know, this life like I'm married. Well, you can have that life, but that means that you don't get divorced. And if you do get divorced, if you let me just finish. If you do get divorced, then the consequence of the divorce is that you don't continue to have a life like you did before. With that person. It's the kid's birthday. It's about the kids. It's not about him. It's about the kids. It's the kid's little birthday celebration. It sucks. It's going to be uncomfortable for you. But in my opinion, this is the best thing for the kids. Absolutely. To be with both their biological parents. To be also with you. And to see the three of you interacting and being friendly and celebrating together. I think that's great for the kids. I don't disagree. In fact, I'll take it a step further.
I think it's amazing for the kids. I think that's great. But aren't we also thinking, man, you know what would also be great is not to ever split that up. But that's not reality. I mean, we've got to live in reality, bro. Like, that is a great fantasy dream world, and I think that's great, and that's what everyone should strive for. Marriage is staying together? Yeah, but that's not their reality, and we can't dream about dream world. We have to deal with their reality. Well, let me ask you, since we're talking about it. It is a fantasy dream world to say, hey, we stay together. In 2009, yes, it is. For some people, it is. Okay. Let me ask. It sucks. Let me ask you. Like my mom and dad, you know, I asked them one time. I'm like, did you guys ever want to get a divorce? I love this. I love this. They said tons of times. And I said, well, how did you guys manage to stay together? And they said, well, we just didn't do it. So my question for you is, you know, that happened in 1983. And so how does that philosophy work in 1983, but not in 19 or in 2009? It does, but your parents, in my opinion...
probably didn't have problems as extreme as some other couples. I don't know what this situation is, but there's couples with abuse and, you know, drug issues. And, you know, there's a lot like, yeah, every couple argues and it's tough to stay together. And I applaud everyone who sticks it out. But it's really not possible for everybody. What if it's because I agree with that. I mean, I don't think anybody should be abused. It's circumstantial. It just depends on the circumstances. I don't think anybody should be abused. And I think that if somebody is being abused, It is instant cause for separation. Instantly, you separate yourself from that person and you beg that person to get help so that they're not abusing you anymore. Instantly. But I think that part of the problem with 2009 is that it's very, very easy for us in 2009. to say we're going through uh economical problems you know or economics in our house are really bad or you know we're we're fighting an awful lot and these things are real i don't deny them they're real you know economic problems come up and and things like that do come up but i think that what has kind of been a bummer about us you know and i'm talking about all of us america and everything is that it's become very easy for marriage to become like we're dating
I agree. And we get to this point where we just go, you know what? Let's, it's just not working out. You know, it's just not working out. I mean, the point of marriage is that you make this commitment and in your wedding vows, which, you know, they were, they're supposed to mean something to us when we say, you know, for better or for worse through sickness and in health, you know, those things are supposed to mean something to us. You know, I just, uh, so anyway, back to this guy's call, he's saying, you know, Here they are in this situation of divorce. Hey, listen, I think that if the decision is that you're divorced and you're going to SeaWorld and it's the first time that those kids are going to SeaWorld and everything and you want the ex to be around, you can certainly do that. But you've moved on. You've got a new relationship. Are you going to take that into consideration? The feelings of someone. And if you're and maybe the answer is no. Maybe the answer is, hey, listen, the bottom line is, is that I'll consider it, but I'm not going to do that. Well, what would your priority be? Would it be the feelings of the biological father being a part of the first SeaWorld trip or the feelings of your boyfriend being uncomfortable? What's more important to you? A hundred percent for me. See, the only.
My belief system says that the only caveat for divorce is infidelity. Cheating is the only caveat. And so outside of cheating, I can't find myself in that situation. I got to do what my mom and dad did, which is maybe you want it, but you can't do it. Well, if you're looking at someone else's situation like this, what do you think is more important? The boyfriend to be uncomfortable or the father to miss out on his kid's first SeaWorld trip? The father to miss out on his kids for SeaWorld trip. Yeah. They got a divorce. You know, you got a divorce. Hey, listen, we we can say, hey, just, you know, we were going through some stuff and it happened this way and we got a divorce. And OK, listen. OK, OK. But to have this thing of like it. Listen, we all know this in divorce. You're always going to have something with the ex, you know.
For 18 years, if you're the new boyfriend or the new husband, the father is going to have joint custody and you're going to have to share and you're going to have to see that person no matter what. This, what we're talking about, this is getting into kind of a different area because we're talking about like, you know, something else. It's a very social thing. This isn't about like custody. This isn't about any of it. It's like, so now the guy is going to be a part of our lives in terms of like going to amusement parks. Well, it's the kid's birthday and it's their first trip. Hey, listen, then why are you in this new, are you committed to a new relationship or are you not? And I, listen, if I believe in, but don't you think mom and dad should be there? Yes. What was worse for the kid? Not getting to go to SeaWorld or getting a divorce. That's a thing. Plus this guy doesn't feel, this guy I think feels bad about it. And you got to ask the guy, man, are you going to tell her how you feel? And then the next question is, once she knows how you feel, here's the deal. What are you going to do? The most important thing here are the kids and how they feel. I don't care how this guy feels or the other guy. It's the kids and what's best for them. And, you know, if this guy on the phone, Alcatraz, chose to be in a relationship with a woman who has kids and is divorced. And so he's going to have to suck it up sometimes. And this is one of those occasions where you have to realize.
The kids want their daddy to be there and their mommy to be there and probably him to be there. And so, you know what? As much as weird as it's going to be and as awkward as it's going to be, got to suck it up. So what would you say to your child if you were in that situation? Your child said, hey, daddy, mommy came with us to SeaWorld. How come mommy can't be with, how come we can't be a family? We can. Only at SeaWorld? I want mommy back. Oh. Well, I mean, that's a whole, you know, divorce conversation that you should have already had with your kids. I think you probably would have had that. But then mommy's showing up to SeaWorld. Yeah, you can say, you know, me and mommy, we don't live together anymore, but we still love you and we want to be with you. And we're both here for your birthday and we're celebrating, but we're just not, you know, we just don't live together. But how come mommy can't be, how come we can't always be together? Why just at SeaWorld? It's just that's, you know, that's a situation that we're in, you know, that we don't live together anymore. And mommy is with P1 Alcatraz. And we have a bigger family now. See, I'm thinking, man, that might really be confusing for a kid. It is. But divorce, I mean, that's the consequence of divorce is you're going to have kids and you're going to run into a lot of problems. And they know that. Yeah.
You know, the best situation here is just to not go to SeaWorld. Eddie, well, you're just saying that because of the killer whales, Eddie. Eddie. I'm glad we took care of that. You have an issue with killer whales. Legoland it is. And everybody's happy. 5701053 is the phone number. And you can give us a call if you have something going on. Weekend Worry War. What's got you tripping out? Hey, Alcatraz. Yeah. What do you think? So you're calling us. Are you going to have a conversation with her this weekend? I'm going to have a conversation with her to let her know how I feel. Overall, we're all going to go because, like Eddie said, it's about the kids. It's the only reason why I'm doing it, and they want me to go. That's awesome. I'm really involved with these kids. They cry when I have to go. When they're with their dad and their dad calls their mom so they can talk to her, they ask for me. It sounds like they really love you. Plus, the churros at SeaWorld are a number one. That's true. And one thing, and normally this wouldn't happen. We don't always go to things together. But he's military, he's training, and he's going to be leaving. Uh-huh. It won't be as bad as you think it is, dude. Yeah. It won't be that bad. Yeah. Well, and that's the only reason why I think, okay, we'll all go, because he is going to be gone, and they're not going to see him. Yeah. I mean, it's one day. You take a little back seat. Uh-huh. You know, it'll be fine. You'll still be involved. Plus, when they take pictures, you can hold the camera.
What? Is there not a silver lining on every cloud? Oh, my gosh. I'm sorry. That's the silver lining? That is weird. You better believe it. I didn't think of that as weird. Yeah. One thing about when it comes to divorce. Now, do you believe if the parents don't love each other, they should still be together? Say that again. If two parents don't love each other, should they still remain together? I believe that there were many times in my mom and dad's marriage where they thought that they didn't love each other anymore. I can say that with 99.9% assurance that they were fighting so bad that they felt that they did not love each other anymore. And what they said was that they stayed together and they worked through it. And I can tell you right now, my mom and dad, are extraordinarily in love. And they're, you know, 72 and 69 years old. What anniversary did they just have? 52nd. Yeah, and then when we got Danny on and he said that he loves Esther now more than he did when he married her. And that was a result of working through those things and not giving up because you want this deal with I don't love them anymore. Well, you may not think that they're as good looking anymore.
Either. But you will. There's going to be a time where you guys are going to be sitting in a restaurant and you're going to see your girl and you're going to go, that's that girl I fell in love with. I love her. She's beautiful. Here's my thing. I believe now couples can get married kind of right away or too soon in the illusion of love. And I believe that can have a huge effect on the child growing up. Yeah, I believe. I think that you're right. 100%. I think that you're right about that. I personally believe that it is extraordinarily confusing for a child to have the boyfriend and the biological dad and mom together at SeaWorld. I think that the messages are all mixed up. Mom and dad had to split up in the first place, which was very confusing. And now dad comes to this birthday thing. Man, I want dad all the time. I love dad. And you're dating this new guy. But they love Alcatraz too. This is their reality. It's confusing, but this is how they've been living. It sucks to have to go through this, but I think we've got to give the kids a little more credit. I think in their dream world, they'd have all three of them together all the time. No, I don't. You don't think at this point?
I mean, he said when they're at dad's house and they call to talk to mom, they want to talk to him. Yeah. Because they love him as much as they love their biological parents. I honestly think that they do love this guy. And there's no doubt about it. I think they love Alcatraz. It's one of those deals where you say, what next? What do I do next? If you make a mistake, the best thing you can possibly do is to try to make the best choices going forward. If you make a mistake. And so absolutely, you know, if you make one mistake, just try not to make it more confusing. I think you're right, Scott. I think it's confusing. And so I think you try to do your best and not make it more confusing. And that's up to each individual as to what they think that the best course in that is. And so I understand what the Alcatraz just so we can wrap it up.
Yeah. You're going to, what is it that your dilemma is? What are you going to, what's the dilemma? Well, I just don't want any conversations or anything to argue because I'm a huge figure of discipline. They listen to me. And when there's something wrong, I can look at them and they will stop whatever they're doing. But the father's there, so now it's like, I'm not, I might just sit back and be like, hey, you're here, your kids are doing something, you got to deal with it. You know, I don't, I just want there to be any conflict between me and him amongst the children. Well, we'll check in with you Monday, and we'll see how it goes, man. And I do wish you the best. All right, man. All right, brother. What do you think? All right, y'all take care. Thanks, man. Where are we in terms of time, Eddie? You can keep going. We can keep going? Yeah. We got a few good ones. Oh, well, we gots. Rob, which one of those do you think is the best? Which one should I take right now? Take three, because four and five are just comments on that. Okay, cool. P1 Elizabeth. Yes. What's your dilemma? My 18-year-old sister is dating a 30-year-old man and taking him home to meet my family and hasn't told them how old he is. And she thinks that they're not going to notice. Wow.
Like, basically, I'll paint a picture for you. Like, my family's from Guadalajara. There's nine people in one house, like, super Mexican. We all grew up together. They're very, like, my big fat Greek wedding, like, in your business. Awesome. Yeah. And she always complains that they're in her business and they're super opinionated and they're very, like, anti-anybody who's not of Latino culture. And he's definitely not. That's strike one. Yeah. Plus, he's got that receding hairline, which is kind of a tip-off. And, you know, the wrinkles on the forehead. I don't know. It's like she's taking him home to meet the family, and I tried to tell her not to, and now she won't talk to me, and she took me out for her MySpace. Oh, my gosh. Well, she's 18. That's what you do when you're 18. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's your punishment. You're off my MySpace. You're out of my top eight. Yeah, yeah. For sure. That is nuts. Well, we want to check in with you. Oh, yes. We want to check in with you on Monday and find out what happens, all right? Okay, cool. All right, thanks. 570-1053 is our phone number. Give us a call. Lots of people calling to check in on the subject of the guy that called in and said, yeah, he's going to this SeaWorld thing with the ex. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. Oh, by the way, Jens Pulver is going to be in the studio today. And when we come back,
There's going to be survivor auditions in San Diego County this weekend. We'll tell you where they are when we come back. This is the Mikey Show. So you're the guy who pooped in my tuba. 105.3. And one of the things that makes Amco so special is that the text that they have there, they really do know what they're doing. And one of the things that you're going to find out when you go into an Amco is that you're going to be plugging your car in to diagnose your car, figure out what's wrong with it. These guys now that are doing these techs that are now working on these cars, what they have basically become is diagnosticians. They are very well versed. Is that a real word? It is a real word. It is a real word. A diagnostician is somebody that is able to correctly read the data on those machines. Those people that go, yeah, yeah, yeah, just tell me what the machine says. I'll take it to my mechanic friend and he'll fix it. Listen, if your mechanic friend.
Could have fixed that. You wouldn't be taking it for diagnosis in the first place. He would have figured out for you what was wrong. That's why when you get it done, you get it done right the first time. I'm going in. Are you? Yeah. Dude. My brakes are making weird noises, so I need to bring it in next week. Perfection. Perfection. I mean, why would I take it anywhere else? That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. Don't want to steal anybody's thunder. Well, you just did. I am talking about. More traffic now as you come in towards Mission Gorge Road off and on past the queue to Mission Center Road. South 15, slow and go out of Escondido off to 78 to Via Rancho Parkway. And now you've got reduced speeds out of Carmel Mountain Ranch down and towards Poway. And the coaster ride, South 5, is still quite heavy as well. The First Lady is not very happy about two new dolls from the makers of Beanie Babies that are named Malia and Sasha. Orlando's Dwight Howard broke a record in the All-Star voting. He's the first player to ever get over 3 million votes. What is this, Eddie? Boston Rob's back on the picking songs. I think that may be the dropkick. This is an upbeat tune that gets everyone's Friday going. Eddie, I'm not sure how I feel about accordion rock. I just, I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. You don't get it. I may not get it. Obviously. Welcome back. Oh, Michael. It was a beat. It was a beat. It was a beat. They're not bad.
Fine, I'll put up something there. No, don't do it. Oh, I know what he's going to put up. Oh, yeah, you do. I know what he's going to put up. Let's see. Before we went to break, I told you that Survivor's going to do auditions. Now, look what he's going to do. Of course. This should be the national anthem. I agree. The song is the jam. The national anthem. That guy is like the Eddie Van Halen of the Mandolin, isn't he? So good. I feel like I'm at the field downtown. I'm sorry, I didn't hear where you were. What did you say? Ashley just threw up, you guys. Somebody help Ashley. Burn up an aisle four. Sky, where are the Survivor auditions going to be? Oh, well, they're this Saturday. As in tomorrow? At Saquon. Oh, Rob. Oh.
Two birds with one stone, dude. Yeah, bro. Yeah, so they're casting for Survivor 19. It's on a first serve, first come basis. What? Yeah, so it starts at 8 a.m., goes till 4 o'clock. You guys, what she means is that they serve you first, and then later you'll come back. Oh, okay. That's good. Hopefully. First come first. Yeah, whatever. You know, either way. It doesn't matter. Eddie's winking. Did I not say that? What did I say? First serve, first come. Okay, well, we all knew what I meant. That's right. Don't worry about it. Don't do it. Now it's tricky. Yeah, so they say they're going to attempt to see about 800 people. So they expect people may start lining up tonight, and you're allowed to do that if you want, because they're only going to see probably about 800 people. Dude. Okay, so a friend of ours, it's my mother-in-law's good friend. He's probably about 59 years old, and he wants to do it. Whoa. Wow. He thought that it had already happened, so I'm going to write and say, hey.
It's this weekend. Yeah, it's tomorrow from 8 to 4. And, you know, Jillian, she was an older woman from Temecula. She was on last season. She didn't make it very far, though. No, she was, what, like the second out? I think so. Yeah. And so she will be there tomorrow as well as Sugar from Sugar. Oh, I love Sugar. She was my favorite. Yeah, she'll be out at the auditions tomorrow as well. Is it weird? Is it weird that I've never seen an episode? Not one? Are you kidding me? That is weird. That's nuts. Yeah, you're Russian, I think. Evidently. That's a good show. Rob would do good on that show. I think so, too. He already is kind of living that show. Kind of. You know what I mean? Yeah. So what you want to do is go to cbs.com because there's like an application and a waiver that they'd like you to already have filled out before you get there. And you have to be over 18 years old and you have to be a U.S. citizen living in the U.S. P1 truck driver? Yeah, Mikey. What do you know? Hey, I know that there's already three people in line. That is unbelievable. That's not good news. That is unbelievable.
It doesn't matter if you're first. It just matters if you're cast worthy, man. First serve, right, Sky? Sky said it was first serve, first come, but that's okay. She corrected it. We knew what she meant. That's her motto. That's her motto. He knows what I mean. Thank you. He said he wanted to go, and me and T-Rex will carpool out there with him. Please pick me up, dude. I can't afford to go away. We'll pick you up. Awesome. I'm in. One other thing, Mikey. Yeah. I know you got that pain in your backside. Yeah. And no offense, but maybe have Sky leave the room and see if it goes away. Oh. Oh, man. I see what he did there. I got what you're doing. That was good. That was not good. I appreciate it. Can you read the news, sir? Oh, wow. You're all so funny. Shut up, Rob. Thanks for the call, man. This guy's my favorite. I love her. I just saw on the television that Fleetwood Mac will be at the sports arena on my birthday. Oh, Mike. Oh, Mike, you're there. Done and done. Wow. Ooh, mama. There you go. Ooh, mama.
there. Who knows, though? I may have other shows I want to see that night. Yeezy. Who knows? There could be a lot going on. You know what I'm saying? Busy nights. Let's see. What else? What did I miss? Oh, did you hear about the crackdown on smoke shops in East County? Really? Yeah. They confiscated 15... Leave them alone! Thank you. 15,000 pieces of paraphernalia were confiscated from a handful of different shops, mainly in El Cajon, one in La Mesa, and one in Santee. So they say that each of these shops had been given prior cease and desist warnings about selling pipes and what have you. And so the district attorney's office is going to review the cases and decide whether they're going to pursue criminal prosecution. Hey, Tatea, we should review the cases now. I think we should. You know what, man? Leave it to East County to give the drug culture a bad name, dude. I know. You people need an intro mention, man. Yeah. Tell me about it, man. My cousin huevos got busted. Huevos. That's my cousin's name. Hey, man, you got a cousin named Eggs? You're drunk. Dude, my name is Tortilla. Well, okay. I see why your family's doing this game. Figure it out. Okay.
Hey, man. What's up? By the way, my name is Tyrone. Yeah, I'm Tortilla. And together we're on the Tyrone Tortilla Show, man. Let me tell you, Tortilla, I'm sick and tired of East County constantly have to be thought of as a drug mecca of San Diego, man. Kind of is, though. I know, man. But don't you think we can come up with a better slogan than... The home of a quarter ounce of? That is creative. That's just weird, man. Where do babies come from? That's a long story. Then I have another question. How come the city of San Diego is spending money on lawyers to sue the Chargers, but there's so much meth in East County that it could be called meth cajones? That is a great question, actually. How come? I don't know, Tortilla, but that's a good question. That's a good question. Hey, Tortilla. Yeah. What's a smoke shop anyway, man? I don't know. That's a good question. Yeah, I've never heard of it. I think it's where you go to smoke cigarettes. No, it's not. Yeah. Sounds greasy.
I wouldn't know. I spent most of my time down at the YMCA, man. I'm training kids to be UFC fighters. Wow. And when they're grown, I'm going to donate them to the UFC. Donate? Nice. You're a good man. That's not how it works. You can't donate a child. Yeah, it is. That's how it works. When they're adults and they're fully grown UFC fighters, I believe you. I hate them. I hate to do it, Tyrone. It's what fills me up inside. I would feel empty without giving back and doing my part. Oh, that's pretty nice, you know. Hey, Tyrone. What's up, Totil? You know, next thing you know, they're going to try and shut down the Olympic Training Center out in Chula Vista. Why do you say that, Totil? Well, remember that one night we were totally smashed and we went out there and tried to turn the torch into the world's largest bong? I still think we can make that work, I said. Come on. Listen, man. What? What's up? I'm on my boy Barack on this one, man. Oh. I moved to strike this paraphernalia bust in East County thing from the record. Wait. You know Barack Obama? No, man. I'm talking about my boy Barack Johnson.
He's my attorney. I got his number at a bus stand. The Rock Johnson. That's right. Well, at least he was my attorney before they found out that he didn't have his lawyer degree. Oh, no. That's bad. He didn't even go to college either. Or high school. I just like to argue, man. Well, you know, I know one of those. Tortilla, don't break it. Tortilla, how come you winked at Scott? She's my attorney. Hey, man. Nothing to come upon any of your paraphernalia by chance when they were doing that bust, man? What you mean? Well, tell me that they got your Jerome Baker. Oh, no. No, no, no. It's all good. I was able to hide it this time. I don't own a Jerome Baker, though, man. That's too expensive. I have a Jerome half.
Baker instead. Practically the same thing. I made it out of a honey bear. That must be glass though. Mine's cool. It works. I used an apple one time. I think it's pretty messed up that Obama is all about going green. But it won't make marijuana legal. You know what I'm saying? You don't know what you mean, man. That's surprising. Can you explain? Well, not only is it green, but it's all natural. You can grow it here as opposed to other drugs. They have to get shipped in from all over the other countries. Plus, if everyone smoked weed, there would be peace on earth. Great point. Great sky. Really?
The what? Oh, yeah. I remember when they put my boy Tommy Chong in jail, man. He had a smoke chop. I baked him a cake once with a saw on it so he could break out of prison. You did? Yeah, but he never used it. He's such a stoner, he traded the saw for weed. Not very smart. paraphernalia they want, but listen to me, man. They're never gonna catch my mobile smoke shot. You got a mobile smoke? Yeah. All you gotta do is find me or Boston Rob, drive up next to us and honk twice. I knew it. We got a whole bunch of bongs in the trunk, and right now they're all 50% off. Hey, we're on the air. Yeah, that's right. It's a townhome at bostonrob.org.net.

Full of 30-second commercials certain people spend around $3 million on. That's about $100,000 a second. Mm-mm, you won't see the high life doing that. Karma Sense says it's a bad time to be hemorrhaging dummy dollars. Which got me to thinking, why do companies need 30 seconds to run their yap when one second should do the trick? Instead of some big lofty financial commercial, can't they just say, uh-oh, selling an ocean cruise? Just say, trapped on a boat? I don't care how big the game is, who got $3 million? Not me. Imagine how much good, honest beer at a tasty price that could buy. Hey, big spending is fine for fat cats, but we only need about a second to make our point, which is high life.

And slow this commute down. So if you haven't left that door already, give yourself some extra time. You will definitely need it. 805 northbound especially hit here. That is slow well before 8th Street in Chula Vista for just a slow crawl all the way into North Park. Heavy traffic again out of Kearney Mesa over that 52. Plenty of stuff as well on the westbound outside of the 94. That's solid brake lights from Federal now all the way to downtown. Your West 8 at a crawl as well coming out of La Mesa from Spring Street. And that's just slow and go all the way to Mission Center Road here in Mission Valley. There was an earlier accident that caught him with the commute there. South 15, pretty tough as always, out of Escondido off to 78 to Villarancho Parkway. Watch for some scattered reduced speeds again, though, through Carmo Mountain Ranch. And this coaster ride, South 5, that's quite heavy here from Poinsettia Lane in Carlsbad into Solana Beach before it lets you loose. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Yeah, that's what I heard. San Diego's Rock Key Show. moment. Hey guys, this is Lars Ulrich from Metallica. We can tell by the sniffles. Yeah, listen, hey, check me out. Metallica is very excited because not only do our fans get, basically, they get our music for free because we're going to be free agents. That's how it works. No, it actually isn't. For every Metallica CD they purchase, they get a free key chain of a wooden shoe. That's not a selling point.
I like wooden shoes. Oh, yeah, I was just going to ask you, have I mentioned that I like wooden shoes? Again and again and again. Hey, we're going to make custom guitars out of wood. Shut up, Lars. Mikey's show continues. Rock 105.3. Oh, does he? He's the goofiest looking drummer. You don't need to do a show like this. We'll be back. It is... It is 8-12. Carlsbad police have announced that they're looking for the 44-year-old son of a couple found dead in their Carlsbad home over the weekend as a person of interest. The West is going to start Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Yao Ming, Tim Duncan, and Amari Stoudemire. That's a heck of a name, man. Amari Stoudemire.
Have I told you guys, and when I say you guys, I mean you P1s. P1, by the way. P1 is a Mikey Show listener. If you are a committed listener of the Mikey Show, you're a P1. When you call in, you turn your radio down, get to your point, don't cuss. And you know the rules. Those are the rules. You know the rules. And Ashley now does something called the Ashley After Party. After Show. The Ashley After Show. I get it right. The Ashley After Show. I am so sorry. She's furious. She takes it very seriously. As I was announcing it, as I was announcing it.
As I'm telling you the story, she's sitting up, you know, very sort of proud and properly. And I say after show. And she slumps and looks at me like I just. You said after party. Yeah, I said after party. She's the next Ellen. You said Spider. You said. That's right, Spider. Think about it. Yeah, it was pretty cool. I was honored. I was her first guest on the couch yesterday. My first interview on our interview couch. It was ridiculous. I don't know that I'd say that. I don't know what I was expecting, but. It was good. Ridiculous. I've already gotten a couple emails from people demanding more and big fans of the Ashley After Show. And so, yeah, P1s, it will be daily. You're welcome. So what are you saying here? People can go to MikeyShow.com and every single day they can watch you on the Mikey Minute telling everybody what happened on the show. Yes, yes. And then the Mikey After Party, what you do. No, for kind of. This is her time to shine. Please. What did I say? Make him a cue card. It's the Just Happen show. No. You're the worst. Please. The after show. Okay, so now on the after. It's her talk show about the show, and she interviews members of the show, special guests on what happened that day. Have you ever seen The Hills, Mike? No. You haven't. On MTV. Are you sure? Because they do a Hills After Show. I do not. They have a Hills After Show, you know, where they kind of talk about the episode, interview characters from the show. It's kind of like that. All right. I like it. Better. It's really good. So every day you can kind of expect a little something different. Yesterday's was delightful. It is really good. It's ridiculous. Can I play the audio? It's not like there's nothing, obviously. Oh, I was cursing up a storm. No, he wasn't.
All right, now when you go to MikeyShow.com, you will see, let's see, where do we find this? It's right underneath the Mikey Minute. We're going to get it like a regular button. How do we find it right now? Under the videos, under the Mikey Minute. There it is, there it is, there it is. On the right side of the page, right? Yeah, and you'll see a picture of a woman from 1942. It's me. That is me. Not really sure who the blonde lady is from 1942. Hey guys, it's me. I gotcha. But there it is. Betty Page, I think. I think that's the deal. That's actually Sugar from Survivor. Oh, it is. Let's see. So click here for the first ever episode. Is that the theme song? I love it. I don't know what it is. Every day you will be able to catch this and it is a feature of MikeyShow.com that I think everybody will love and enjoy. And so we...
We asked that you go and check it out. Rob's camera work is great. Like the first part, you only see like half of Eddie. It's infuriating. That was... What was the problem? I almost walked off the set. What's the problem? Well, Rob's the worst filmer that we could have ever hired, but we didn't have much of a selection. Here it comes. Here comes the first one. You'll enjoy it, Mike. I'm here with Eddie Papani on the Ashley After Show. First one ever. And it's a special day to kick it off because McRib came back at McDonald's. And I just wanted to know... Can I ask a question? Sure. What are you using as a microphone? What is that microphone? Well, again, our funds are limited, and so we have to use what we can. So I used my laminate, like my laminate pass to get into the building. The one that's around your neck. Yeah, and it just transferred into a mic. Oh, very high tech. It was really cool. Eddie looks really, really stoked to be talking to you. For sure. Eddie, what are your thoughts? Am I supposed to talk into your laminate? I mean, it's not a microphone. Do not block me out. Okay. I hate him, Mike. I hate him. So funny. Rob sticks his finger in front of the camera to block Ashley's face off. It's her show. It's fantastic. And if you look at the ratings, they peaked at that point. That is not true. Wow. Wow.
Put your finger back in your pocket. This is her show. I'll kill you. I'll kill you, by the way. I'm very excited to hear that the McRib is back, and it's been... I can only gather from this, this is before you got the news. ...a very inspirational day for me. You know, I've shed a few tears hearing about it. Why is Ashley kicking Rob off frame? You can see her... It was very childish. He was pretending to put the... Finger back in front of the... And it upset you. Yeah, he's teasing me. See, Ash, you're going to have to learn to maintain a level of professionalism. That's what I thought. That's what I thought. He teased me. I didn't like it. Ellen Wood. Ellen Wood. I'm working on it. Are you all right? Did you say she doesn't? You actually shed tears about the McRib. Why are you talking into your laminate? Not only is she talking into her laminate, but when she holds the laminate as a microphone over to Eddie's mouth, she doesn't take her own eyes off the camera. Yeah, it's very distracting. Yeah, are you supposed to look at the people you're interviewing? I felt a disconnect. There is a disconnect. She never looks at you. I mean, she's always looking into the camera. It's your first one. You're going to get better. I mean, can you give me a chance to grow? Yeah, we're working out the kinks. Come on, bro. This is the microphone. Scott, why is he being so difficult? What do you guys think is better, the olive oil of the month club, the coffee of the month club, or the salsa of the month club?
What do you guys think? This is not going well. That's not a real club. This is not going the way that I... How did... How did Thing from the Addams Family end up on this thing? No, that's my back with my hair. That's my hair in the back. My back is facing the camera. Hey, I choose salsa. This is not going the way that I planned. Me either. Ashley, would you be upset if this were funny? You're not in this. You're not in this. That's for sure. This is not what I wanted. I've got one last question before I wrap it up. What do you plan to do now that the McRib is back in your life? She's still looking at the camera. It's okay, Eddie. I'm only on you. Thank you. That's it. That was the show. This is your talk show? That's a wrap. We'll see you tomorrow for round two. All right. So, Ash, you know, if you had to rate the first one, you know, what do you think? Ten out of ten. Ten out of ten. I think it was really, really good. But Mikey, ten being the worst. Listening to the Mikey Show. Indeed you are powerful. Rock 105.3. Dedication is earning an MBA and working full-time. You're telling me that the reason you like this song is just for the... Yeah. For real? Yeah. I like the music. She doesn't... I have to tune out Chad Kroger. You know, like, I don't like Kroger's lyrics and everything, but I think their music is, you know, very catchy. The Nickelback music. Sky says, I'm out, but I love the one with Santana. So she really likes the parts that go... Oh, it's a good... It's a pretty good song. It's a good part. If it were up to you, you would like... She'd just isolate the guitar part. She wants the instrumental version. Have Mike walk around and make that noise. It's not the same. Sweater taking off music. Well, that is sweater taking off music. Followed by the wing. Yes. Yeah, me. And everything in between. It's time to talk to the man who knows all. It's time to ask the Oracle. It is? Yes. Ladies and gentlemen. I didn't know. Ladies and gentlemen, we invite you to call 570-1053 for questions pertaining to the sports world. Eddie is the sports Oracle and can answer your questions on all things sports. And, uh, also text message three, five, two, five, three. If you have a question that you would like to ask the Oracle on text message, uh, he can do that as well. Um, and it's been kind of a, uh, an interesting week we've been getting, you know, especially cause this weekend there is no football. We got to wait another week. Uh, dead zone. It is. And Eddie next week, you'll give us next Friday, a week from today, you will give us your prediction on the Superbowl. Yes. I'll give you what I think is going to happen, who I think is going to win and whatnot. There you go. Wow. Uh, So go ahead. Give us a call. 570-1053. Or you could text us. 35253 is the phone number. Call us right now. You got a question for the Oracle. 570-1053 or reach us by text.
At 35253. And don't forget, Jens Pulver will be coming into the studio. Huge. That's right. What's his name, Jens? What is it? Is it rude for me to ask that when he gets in here? Will he punch me if I ask him that? That's possible. See, I don't know anything about him. I don't know anything about him. Where's he from? Originally from the state of Washington, Seattle area. And trained for years. So he's not like Swedish or something. That's what I was wondering. So he's an American. There he is. And he's a featherweight in the WEC. Yeah. And he is a part of the main event this weekend, right? Yeah. The WEC is going to be in San Diego, which is huge, at the sports arena on Sunday. And Jens is fighting Uriah Faber, who most people have said Uriah Faber is like the greatest MMA fighter for his pound for pound. around until he lost his belt this last fight, and now he's back on the road to trying to win it, and he's fighting Jens, who he fought last summer, which a lot of people said was the fight of the year. Really? Yeah, so it's pretty cool they're fighting again. That rules. P1, Matt P. Matt P. Matt P. Matt P. What's up, bro? Quick question for you. First off, what's the best fight going to be this weekend? Oh, it's got to be the main event.
I mean, Jens and Uriah, the first time they fought, I mean, it was a war for five rounds. You know, now it's not for the title, so it's only three, so I'm expecting them to really go at it since it's two less rounds. Right, right. All right, second question for you. How does this card compare to the UFC last week? What do you think about that? You know, I got to say, I was pretty disappointed with the last UFC card. I mean, on paper, it didn't look that great, and it didn't. play out to be very good either. I think there's some interesting matchups this week in the WEC. I think it's going to be a really good card. I'm looking forward to it. Cool, brother. Thank you for calling. You guys got it. Bye, Sean. We miss you. I know. And Zeth. P1 Corman. Hey, how you doing, guys? Mr. Oracle. What's up, dude? I want your take on GSP, BJ Penn. I'm sure it'll be a little bit more entertaining than the last matchup. Wow. I have to say, I have loved on Spike TV, they're doing this thing where they're following their training camps. It has been the best.
Now, they completely ripped off HBO, who did this for some of the big boxing fights. But I don't care because I love it. So they've been following BJ as he trains in Hawaii. And last week's was the first episode. And they showed BJ taking five days off just because he wants to peak at the right time. He had Dana White calling him upset. Like, where are you? You should be training. What's the matter with you? Dana's the president, right? He's the president of UFC. And BJ's very Hawaiian. So he's very laid back. And he's like, eh, whatever. I don't care. So this week's episode starts with BJ saying, dude, I did not like the way I was portrayed last week. Man, you know, you portrayed me as a slacker. And that I'm like from this. a well-to-do family and that I've never had to fight for anything in my life. Well, that's BS, man. And I'm going to take this anger. I'm going to beat the crap out of George St. Pierre because of it. And blah, blah, blah. Dude, it's made this fight. It was already huge. It's made it gigantic. What is it called? What is that called again? It's called UFC Primetime. Really? And it follows George St. Pierre and his training camp and BJ Penn and his training camp. When will that fight take place? It's the 31st. So, great.
Great weekend next weekend because you got that fight and then the Super Bowl Sunday. And do you think that they'll do the thing where they'll show them all in a row? You know, like once they get through this, do you think they'll catch people up? Probably. Because I want them to catch the first one now. Probably. I know they've shown them quite a few. So, you know, just, yeah. Right on. Google it or TiVo or I don't know. Something. Search it. Thank you, Corman. P1 Thardar. Yeah, I have a question for Eddie. I didn't grow up. Here, I'm not a big Chargers fan, but I do want them to do well, so I want some clarification. A couple of weeks ago, in the same conversation, you talked about all these returning great players and that we should have a great team next year. But in the same conversation, you said that no one should be comfortable in their position and their jobs. And I kind of wanted clarification because I want them to do well. And what are our weaknesses and what are we trying to fix if we have such a great team coming back? Well, I think the core of the team is coming back, and it is excellent. I'm talking the Phillips Rivers, the Antonio Gates, the Jamal Williams, the superstars of the team, Sean Merriman. It's like having a free agent come back because he wasn't even on the team this year with his injury. So having him come back, Sean Phillips, Quentin Jammer. Sprozy? I don't know. He's a free agent, so he may or may not come back. Don't you guys have a couple of contracts?
Are we going to be able to bring everybody back? Well, these people are all under contract, so they will be back next year no matter what. Now, as far as the weaknesses on the team, those are the people that I'm saying should be looking out, looking behind their back and making sure that they still have a job. I'm talking about Igor Olshansky. He's gone. He's a free agent. They're not going to re-sign him. He was poop. I think guys like Matt Wilhelm should be really aware of his job and Clinton Hart. And, you know, the offensive line, a lot of guys on the offensive line had really poor seasons. So I don't think Mike Goff is coming back. Jeremy Clary, we should probably improve the right tackle position. So the entire right side of the offensive line, I think, needs to be replaced. And the defensive line, I think we need some playmakers on there. Luis Castillo, you know, we gave you a nice big fat contract. You've got to do better, but, you know, you've got to show up more. And if they get, you know, somebody to replace Igor Olshansky. that's where I would look at in the draft. You know, I think that if they get a stud, defensive end who can, you know, disrupt things and get in there, it frees up Sean Phillips and Sean Merriman on the outside. And, I mean, you can't block everybody, so hopefully they'll be able to do that. What about Floyd? What about him? Is he good? Malcolm Floyd? Yeah, are we good with him? He's going to stay on the team and everything. I'm not sure. All right, well, I appreciate your input, Eddie. I look forward to seeing how it plays out. Yeah, me too.
Hey, thank you, brother. I appreciate it. Dude, how awesome would that offensive line be with, like, a couple of studs over on the right? Well, you know, I mean, it would clearly help out the problem we had in the run game this year, which would have, you know, this whole, this LT's business wouldn't even be in the conversation right now if we had a better offensive line. So, you know, it's, you know, obviously the line is a big problem, and it's one that they need to fix. We're getting some text messages, too. So I want to read you some of the text messages that we're getting. This one says, hey, Eddie, did the Padres trade Khalil Green? If so, who is playing in his position now? Love you guys. P1 Aaron. They did trade Khalil Green. They traded him to the Cardinals. What? Well, this happened a while ago, guys. Where have you been? Breaking news. This isn't breaking news. What? Do they listen when I do? Do you have a sound effect for breaking news? It's not. You guys, it's 105.3. Now with the Cardinals? Oh, my gosh. If you guys can check it out, it's happened months ago. What does Fitz think of it? A new teammate. A new teammate for Fitz. Oh, I can't take this today. Wow, this is amazing. So, Eddie, who has replaced him? Well, they have a guy on the team named Luis Rodriguez, but he's not. Who's that? Luis Rodriguez. Yeah.
He's no Khalil Green. He's kind of a journeyman guy. He's got the position right now. They signed David Eckstein, but he's going to play second base apparently. So, I don't know. That's not exactly giving everybody a really warm feeling of confidence. It's no Derek Jeter, eh, Rob? We don't want Derek Jeter. Oh, sorry. But he's really good. No, he's not. I would love to have Derek Jeter. You know who's really good? Dustin Pedroia, 2008 MVP. How about that? I'm down. Huh? Who wants to fight? P1, you rock my life. Yes, I read a story this morning on Yahoo that AJ Spanos responded to... AJ Smith. AJ Smith. AJ Smith, right. Responded to LT's statement that he wants to stay in San Diego. And AJ basically mocked LT saying, yeah, I would like to stay in San Diego too. He repeated basically word for word everything LT said. I was wondering if you guys had read that story, what the Oracle's response to that would be.
Yeah, I've read a couple of things that AJ has finally kind of broken his silence. He's reiterated the fact that we're going to look at the team, and that includes LT, and I have to make decisions and report to Dean Spanos and tell him what I think we should do. Some of those things may be unpopular. Some of those things where I may have to take the bullet and be the mean guy here in town, but I'm doing what's best for the team. That's what he's saying. I'm sorry. What do you think that says for his character, though, mocking LT Publisher like that? I think, you know, here's the deal. Did he do this thing where he was like, yeah, I want to stay here, too. Right, yeah. You know, we know AJ. I mean, you know, we've talked to him several times. He is not Carrot Top. He's not, you know, a guy who's real funny. Yeah, yeah. And, you know. Carrot Top is hysterical. Perfect reference. Yes. Carrot Top is hysterical. Listen. When he was trying to think of the funniest comic alive. I wasn't trying to, Mike. I said who the funniest guy around is. Carrot Top. We've established. AJ's no Carrot Top. He's no Carrot Top. He's no Sinbad. Okay. And he's certainly no Gallagher. That is true. That is 100% true. All right. So, you know, I think he's trying to.
be funny and kind of make light of the situation a little bit. Really? To kind of, you know, ease the tension on, hey, you know, this is a serious subject. Right. But he doesn't know how to do that. So there is no bad stuff between AJ and LT. I don't think so. I really don't think so. I think, you know, if it comes down to it and AJ thinks that LT is not good enough to be on the Chargers anymore, he has no problems making that decision. But, you know. I hope that he recognizes that we don't have anybody to replace said legend and that the team would not be better off without LT next year. So I don't know, man. We'll have to wait and see. This is a boxing question. I know my dad, if my dad is listening right now, this is going to be his favorite part. Eddie, do you know my dad has a subscription to Boxing Magazine, to Ring Magazine? Really? Ring Magazine. Wow. My dad loves boxing and can talk to you about boxing. I can't talk to him. I don't know what he's talking about, but my brother Steve does, so they talk boxing all the time. My dad knows more. Have you ever showed him MMA? I have, but I...
It was in the old days. He saw one fight. It might be too violent for him. It's not old school enough for him. It's too different. He likes the sweet science. Yeah, he likes the sweet science. He likes the sweet science. He also likes the... I think that there's a certain gentleman-ness to boxing. Like this sort of old gentleman-ness. Indio, what's your question? Good morning. My question was, who does the Oracle like between the Antonio Margarito fight and Shane Mosley? Sugar Shane. It's going to be an interesting fight. It's tomorrow, right? Yes. Tomorrow night on HBO. Antonio Margarito. Yeah. I'm fearful to upset your father. Oh, no. Because I think I would pick Shane Mosley in that fight. Yeah, dude. Shane Mosley is legit. He's real. No, no, no, no, no. I take Margarito. I take Margarito. We won't tell him. We just got to ask Dad. What'd you do? This is what I want to see. I want to see if it's even possible for my father to somehow, even in any stretch of the imagination, for him to be objective. Right. Who do you think is going to win P1 Indio? I think Margarito because, you know,
Mosley in his last couple fights really hasn't shown anything. I think he's peaked already. But don't you think that when you watch Shane Mosley fight, he's like an every other fight guy. Where like one fight he shows up and he's real good. Then the next fight he shows up, he's not so great. Then the next fight he shows up, he's great. Then the next fight he shows up, he's not so great. In the last fight he wasn't so great. Do the math. He's due. He's not consistent, I think. Yeah, but Margarito's good, man. I mean, he beat Miguel Cotto, which is huge. Thank you, Indio. Thank you. Appreciate it. All right, my dad is on the line. Okay, so dad, tomorrow night is Sugar Shane Mosley versus Margarito Antonio Margarito. Antonio Margarito. So dad, who do you think will win the fight? I think it's going to be a great fight, but... But I'm going to go with Antonio Margarita. Really? Dad? He's just a real animal. Okay. Now, Dad, let me ask you. Are you being objective here? Are you really thinking at it from both points of view here? Yeah, Shiver Shane is a great boxer. He is a great boxer. But Margarita doesn't stop. As a matter of fact, I watched a fight with him and Diaz last night, 2002. And my God, he's...
From 2002, by the way. Wow. It was an old fight, you know, that I was watching. But I was impressed by him. Maybe they were showing it because of the fight that's coming up. You've got to hear my dad break fights down, too, when he's watching them. Because he's such a fan of it. And he's watched so much of it that he really notices little things that guys are doing that they need to change. That's awesome. He also takes a good punch. He takes a good punch. Sugar Shane, man. He's fast. He's cool. He's a great boxer. I don't think he's ever gotten his dues. And I don't understand why. Well, we're going to find out this way. Are you watching it, Dad? Yes, I am. Danny, what happened to De La Hoya in the Pacquiao fight? You know, De La Hoya ought to quit. You know, he's a great businessman in that, but he just didn't have the gas. Is he done? He's done. That's tough for my dad to say. There's another guy that I just love. You know, I think he's done a lot for boxing. He's a good man. Well, I can't say he's a good man. But, I mean, he's a great boxer. But he's done. It's all over. Who do you like, Dad? What boxers do you like out there right now? You know, I like the new Cuban kid. I can't think of Gamboa. I think his name is Gamboa. I think he's an upcoming boxer.
Of course, I like Diaz. I like some of those light ones. You like Miguel Cotto? I like Miguel Cotto, yeah. Fantastic. I think he's real picky, but he's smart. You know, he's making money. You know, the guy I really like is the ghost Guerrero from Gilroy. Dad. From Gilroy. Dad. Of course he does. Now, I have to point this out, that all the guys that you've mentioned so far are Latinos. Yeah, what about a Ricky Hatton? You know, yeah. What about Ricky Hatton? How do you feel about Ricky Hatton? He's not brown enough. I see right through him. But I can't think of Ricky Hatton right now. Yeah, you can't think of him because he's white. Danny, he's the English guy. Danny, he's the English guy that fought Floyd Mayweather. He's supposed to fight Pacquiao next. Oh, let me tell you. My favorite boxer right now is Pacquiao. Pacquiao. Oh, really? You know he's Filipino, right? Yeah, yeah. My dad's like, oh, no. Never mind. Great fighter, and he's a real giving person. That's true. He gives a lot of money in the Philippines, and he's not a boaster. He stays to business.
And I just love the way he fights. That guy, you can't stop him. He's just going to come at you. All right, Pop. We've got to let you go. I love hearing you talk about boxing. We've got to do a new segment. The Squared Circle with Danny Esparza. That's right. I love it. I love you guys, too. Oh, I love you, too. I love Danny. All right, Pop. She loves you. All right, Pop. That's odd. Never heard of it. Never heard of it. It's the classy turn. That's the classy turn. Yeah. That's the classy turn. At least a real gentleman. The Nike show continues. Rock 105.3. 311. Shoots a 36-hole record at 20 under at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Dude, I've never done that. Well, nobody has. I've never done that, bro. I've tried. I got close. I got close. Yeah? Yeah. No, you didn't. I give it my best shot. I went 35 or something. Yeah. I went 36. Well, no, that's what the... I went 36. 36 holes. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I went 35. That's not the record. He shot 20 under on 36 holes. That's what I did. I went 33 and then I was like, phew, tired. That's not the... Yeah. You guys aren't even getting the point of the record. You're so good, Mike. Yeah. We should play together sometime. That's right. CPR. Hey, would you like... Eddie. Eddie. Grow up. Oh, what about this? The Mikey Show now presents Ashley's Fitzgerald Facts. No goofing around this time. Listen, the Super Bowl is a week from Sunday. Okay? The Super Bowl features the Arizona Cardinals. I'm getting a Cardinals jersey. Come on.
I'm going to get one for Sammy. That's so funny. Don't do that. You guys, they sell them. Stop it. I'm going to wear it on Super Bowl Day. Oh, that's awesome, Mike. I'm going to lose a lot of respect. Why? Oh, dude. Come on. I like the Cardinals. I think that's great. Are you going to get a number 11? What's up? We're talking. What? I will not. Oh, what? Are you going to get a number 13? Kurt Warner? Whatever, bro. I like Kurt Warner. Oh, dude. You should grow up. I do not. I do not feel that I can stand up against this onslaught. Please. I support you, Mike. Get a buzz cut and go as his wife. No, she doesn't do that. She doesn't do it anymore. Whatever. What are you talking about? She used to have a buzz cut. Why? She's a dude. No. Dude, you would trip out if you saw her. I'm glad I don't. No. Wow. What? What's the problem, Rob? Nothing, man. God.
Is he drunk? He's so hurtful. Get it, Tom Brady. Yeah. Listen, Fitzgerald is Ashley's favorite player. Yes, they like him a lot. Larry Fitzgerald. He's the best. So she's real excited about him playing in the Super Bowl. And so what can you tell us about Larry Fitzgerald? There's Ashley's Fitzgerald fact. Okay, for the listeners that don't know and maybe want to know, Larry Fitzgerald's number 11 on the Cardinals in the Super Bowl, and his birthday is August 31st. He's actually my age. Really? Doesn't that all add up now? Doesn't it all make sense now? None of that connects. It all comes together, right? Yeah, so he's 25. And so it makes him a Virgo, and they actually considered changing the name of the sign to Fitzgerald instead of Virgo.
Because he's so great. So if you're born between August 23rd and September 22nd, P1s, you're now a Fitzgerald as opposed to a Virgo. That is the most ridiculous fact you've ever said. Thank you. I mean, they would never change the signs. Ridiculous. It's not a real fact. Thank God it's time. Let me hear you. Are we supposed to do that? No. I will never. Point of interest. Interest. Interest. Interest. Why? Why? This hard-hitting sexy Samoan who is so, so, so, so, so suave. Rob has said hard-hitting sexy Samoan three days in a row. That's really annoying. It's descriptive, though. I know, but it's the same description. This guy's hair is amazing, okay? This guy's hair teaches fatherless kids to do math, okay? What? That's what it does in its spare time. And on top of that, on the weekends, this is a two and this is a plus sign. This is another two. Get out of here, hair. You don't know what you're talking about. No, his hair tutors children's and math. Children's, by the way. Children's. He is so good, he's counted to infinity twice. Get out of my face. That's really great. That's really great. I don't know which one was more irritating.
That was a great fact. How do you guys feel about Hillary getting confirmed as Secretary of State? Yep. Are you real excited, Skye? Yeah, it's now official. It's our first woman Secretary of State. Oh, another woman Secretary. Oh, Robert. Hey, not the time. If I didn't say that, no one would have. That's the point. Yeah, that's the deal there. Interesting. It was interesting at her confirmation hearing, you know, they take a vote and it was 94 to 2. So there were two Republican guys, two Republican senators who were like, no, I don't care for her. Good for you. What is your problem, bro? Eddie, if you were a senator, you would not have confirmed her? Absolutely not. Wow. Hey, do we know who they were? Yeah, it was, let's see, a Republican senator from Louisiana and one from South Carolina who said no. Good men. Thank you. They did not believe in her. No, not so much. Jerks. Who would be calling right now? Jim Jefferson Clinton. Clinton, big winner style. What's up, Slick Willie? Fancy. I'm sure those guys won't fall down the stairs, those two guys.
voted the way they voted. Are you threatening? Is that a threat? I'm not threatening anybody. I'm just saying, you know, they voted against my wife. I'm surprised you even care. I know, right? You know, I think that's a misconception, Eddie. Oh, really? People have this sort of weird misconception that I think my wife looks like a dude. Oh, wow. That wasn't what we were saying. Here's the deal, man. I know there's a lot of people that are worried about the world accepting a woman as the United States Secretary of State. Don't worry, all right? Because finally all those years of Hillary trying to look like a dude are going to pay off. Bill, that's your wife. I think she's pretty. I do, too. But I got to admit to you, I also think the guy that plays Jack on Lost is pretty. Okay, well. That's kind of true, actually. He looks a little pretty. Did you guys hear these rumors about my marriage with Hillary and that we're only together now for political reasons? You guys heard that? Yeah, it's been going on for a long time. You know, I actually think that this new job that she got is going to be good for our relationship. Oh, is that right? How so? Well.
I'm not going to lie. Ever since Hillary got this new job with the word secretary in it, for some reason, I've been a lot more into her. That's not very nice, Phil. Whatever works for them. It's very true. That's crazy. Good point. You know what's funny is I actually confirmed her as Secretary Amin a few years ago. That's not nice. She can really break me down. You know what I mean, Skye? I don't know why you're trusting me. Yes, we do. She can be so abusive and mean, Sky. You know what I mean? Like, for instance, last night I came home with my computer bag, all right? And she called it immersed. Oh, Sky. You know what I mean? That's funny, Bill Clinton. You know what I mean? That's funny, Bill Clinton. guy. Just saying. Hey, you guys know what's funny to me? What's funny to you, Bill? Dr. Phil's mustache. That guy running for sheriff of the Old West. It's like Yosemite Sam or something, man. Anyway.
I think it's kind of cute Hillary got named secretary of something, you know what I mean? Cute. I don't know that I'd use that word. Be careful. You guys, she hates the title. And I was on the can yesterday, and I told her to come in and take the minutes. That is so funny. That is awesome. Okay. She didn't think it was funny either. What a surprise, huh? Hey, listen, man. You guys seen Eva Longoria lately? Meow. Easy. Preach it. I wish I could dunk her in my coffee. She's so sweet. So how stoked are you guys about Hillary, man? I'm not stoked at all. I'm excited. All right, so there's one vote yes, one vote no. I think she's going to be a good leader. Really? Eddie, I'll never forget our first date. You and her? Not me and you. Okay, you mean you and Hillary. Hillary and I. Okay, I get it. We were at McGregor's, and old Hilly had just, she'd just taken a body shot out of my navel. Right over there by the shovel board? Yeah, that's where we were standing. Awesome. And she looked at me with those big brown eyes, and she gently dabbed her mustache with a napkin, and she said, She said, Billy boy.
Would it be okay if I wear the pants in the relationship? No. I mean. I was so into it because we were at McGregor's, the shuffleboard thing. I was like, yeah. Hang on just a second, guys. Sorry. I was starting to lose my voice. Oh, that's weird. You use it every day. That's right. But, well. Cold season. Yeah, it is cold season. Okay. This is Bill Clinton. Yes, it's nice. You know, a lot of people ask me if I'm nervous. Hillary might cheat on me. Are you? Yeah, you know, she is Secretary of State, and you know how secretaries can get at him. We've all been there, I know you have. I've never been there. You guys got to kind of try to keep in mind that Hillary's a little bit no on eight, you know what I mean? Got that kind of way about it. No, I'm a lover, you know. I mean, I'm not that into her. Wrong. I mean, what? You can't say that. I mean, I meant what I was trying to say is I love her.
I said that, and it came out totally bad. You misquoted me. That's terrible. Out of context. Very stoked. I'm very stoked that Hillary got the job, and hopefully this will keep her really busy. Oh, yeah? Yeah, I mean, really busy. Like, what do you mean? I mean, like, type busy where she's never, ever around. Again, that's rude. People can hear you say that. That's so mean. You know, like, if she ever does come home. Then it's only to, like, grab some food and then go back to work. That's not very nice, Bill. I'm just saying I'm hoping she's that kind of busy. But I love her. She's awesome. She's awesome. All right, guys. Well, I hope you all have a great rest of your day. Thank you, Bill. Hey, did you all say that Ashley's doing something I can check out on the website? No. All right, y'all, football season's coming to an end. That means folks are getting ready to watch the big game full of 30-second commercials certain people spend around $3 million on. That's about $100,000 a second. Mm-mm, you won't see the high life doing that. Common Sense says it's a bad time to be hemorrhaging dummy dollars, which got me to thinking, why do companies need 30 seconds to run their yap when one second should do the trick?
Instead of some big lofty financial commercial, can't they just say, uh-oh, selling an ocean cruise? Just say, trapped on a boat? I don't care how big the game is, who got $3 million? Not me. Imagine how much good, honest beer at a tasty price that could buy. Hey, big spending is fine for fat cats, but we only need about a second to make our point, which is High Life. Watch for the High Life one-second commercial on the big game February 1st. Find out more at OneSecondAd.com. Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Live responsibly. Mikey Show, is this Ryan? Well, the community is starting to look better out here, but you will find some very tough traffic still, and the rain still continues to come down in some parts of the county, so if you haven't left out the door yet and need to go somewhere, you might want to give yourself a little extra time here. South Ponce out of the five still struggling from Poinsettia Lane in Carlsbad. All the way down to Solana Beach. South 15, there's a new accident near Camino down to Northeast. Very, very pleased to welcome to the studio WEC featherweight fighter Jens Pulver, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you. How are you doing? Very nice. Take it easy. Calm down, little lady. It is. She's a big fan. She's a big fan. Well, thank you. How are you doing, Jens? I'm good, I'm good. It's good to have you here, man. It's early, right? Yeah, it is. It's an early thing for you. It is early. It's not too bad. I just tell myself it's got to be almost 11 Iowa times. Now, what's the deal? You train out there, you train out there in Iowa, and then you come out, or what do you do? Where have you been training up for this? Normally, I started out in Iowa, but I still live out there, but now I'm heading back to Seattle to do my training. I train with Matt Hume.
And just to go back home, I haven't been home since I was in high school. So it's been real cool to get back there and do that. So I've been on the Pacific time. I've been west coast this whole time. So it is 8 o'clock in the morning to me, or at least feels that way when I was waking up. What is a typical training day for you? Right now, especially with... My weight being a little higher than I wanted it to be. I can relate. I did get my oatmeal, but I'm going to train four times today. It's just slow, grueling, 45 to an hour, just burning your calories and stuff. It's never really about... We're talking to Jens Pulver and San Diego Charger. Kasim Osgood walks in. That's my man. That's awesome. He took me and gave me the beating last time. I don't know if I can ready for him again. He's got the reach. Dude, that's awesome. So we'll talk to Kasim, too. So, okay, how much weight do you have to cut in two days? Is it two or three days? No, I got to tell Saturday. But, I mean, I've been basically show up here on Wednesday, and I've been trying to get it down.
I was a lot bigger than I thought. I have this policy, no scale policy, until I actually get to this. Really? Whoops. Dude. Nuts. This one's tough. The weight limit is 145 for the division that Jens fights in. So what are you at right now? I went to bed at 156. I was happy. Happy. Happy to be 56. It took a while to get out of the 60s. Oh, my God. Now, listen, I don't know how you do it. Stop eating the McRib, bro. Yeah, I wish, right? I don't actually know how you guys do this. So how do you do it? Well, I mean, I'm still going to eat. Like I said, I just have my oatmeal. And then the nastiest part about it is the cauliflower and the broccoli. I can't stand eating raw broccoli. It kills me. But those are my meals. And then I get a little tuna fish and some spinach. Everything's just kind of measured out. I got to drink a gallon and a half of distilled water. And it just keeps coming off. Like I said, it's just the four workouts that I got to do during the day. Where normally, had I been down a little better, I could have rested a little. Right. Any sauna? No. I'll have to stay away from that. I won't do that until the day of making weight. Then I'll cut the water out. Right now, like I said, it's just putting food in there with no calories. You know, it has no sodium. Drinking as much as you can distilled water. So I'm not starving myself by any means. In fact, the opposite. It would hurt me if I did.
My body would think it's starving, lock up. I couldn't lose anything. So I'm just, you know, like I said, I'm just eating things I don't like to eat. That's the problem. I wasn't eating broccoli. You know, this is going to be an interesting fight because here you are fighting Uriah Faber. The last time you fought, it was considered match of the year. I mean, it was an incredible fight. So what do you know going into this one? I mean, is it going to be drastically different or how different is this going to be? Ultimately, I don't think so. I mean, I think the pace will still be high because I know he's trying to get this fight over as fast as he can. I mean, I'm trying to get this fight over as fast as I can. If that's one less punch, the faster, you know, if I can end this fight in 30 seconds, you know, that's dang near 14 and a half minutes. I didn't have to take punches or throw punches or, you know, just keep sweating, you know. So I know we're going to be looking to finish it, but I don't know. Where is he going to go? Is he going to try to throw the ground where he's always been safer, shoot the takedowns? He got caught by Brown, standing up, got knocked out. He tried to throw that goofy flying elbow. Have you ever seen a move like that before? Yeah, he fired it at me in the fight. Did he? I don't remember. Well, we watched the guy, Wilson Reyes. He fought earlier, and that's why I was laughing after he threw that elbow because we were watching because you can see all the fights in your locker room.
And Wilson throws one. This kid from Brazil. I'm like, ah, sure enough, I'm fighting Faber. And he throws it. I'm like, no way. I go, you really are that calm out here, ain't you? And I just couldn't help but laugh. I go, I have to laugh. And I'm like, oh, my God. I would have never thought of, I mean, you just watched this in the locker room. I know you did. Sure enough, it's his move now. He's crazy. That's funny. He's just that kind of fighter. He's relaxed. But, again, he got caught standing up. So I know he went down to Brazil. And, you know, he's always done well with his ground and pound his elbows. Who knows where he's going to go with this fight, but I'm looking to ignore all that anyway. Do you watch film? Yeah. How much? Well, this time a lot. Hume's been watching it over and over and over. He's been watching it, not me. And then he just tells me what we're going to do, how we're going to fight, what I'm looking to do. And then it's just a matter of do I listen to my coach? Yeah, yeah. Do I pay attention to game plans once I get punched one time in the face? You know how he fights. What do you dread the most about his style? Definitely the intensity. Yeah. You just know you're going to be stuck in there. You don't want to go that many RPMs. Sure. I know this is going to be 75 at least. You're not going to have any time to take a break. The only way you're going to be able to stop them is to turn the lights off. You've got to knock them out or just get in there and scrap. What do you like the most about what you do for a living? What do you like the most? You know, I think I love entertaining, number one. But I've always been in.
That one-on-one sport. I was a wrestler growing up, you know, fourth grade. So I like that it all falls back on me. It falls back on am I listening? It falls back on did I come in shape? My heart's out there being shown, you know, my guts, whatever you want to say, call it. But that's out there. That's on me. And I like that it's like that, you know, because the only thing that's always been tough for me team-wise is you never know where the other guys are. You don't know if they're living as, you know. as healthy as I am. Are they getting their sleep and things like that? This way it was always about if I can make the weight, I'll go out there and I can either, you know, get the glory or I can get the moment of, ah, you took a beating. I asked San Diego Padre Adrian Gonzalez one time. I said, how much of your game is mental? And I said, not just you personally, but how much of the game of professional baseball is mental? He said 80 or 85. 80, 85. I can't remember which, but. It's a high number, 88 or 50. How much of your game is mental? Oh, man. Mine, personally, is easily 95%. It's everything. It ain't nothing. I mean, when people try to say they're not a mental fighter, I always call BS on it because they're like, no, I just got to throw it. No, man, I'm talking about this is the three months leading up to that fight. This is the dieting, the staying at home, the not getting in trouble, staying focused, staying on path.
And, you know, all the way up and then getting into the fight, letting it go, throwing your punches, not thinking about, you know, too much stuff. That's all mental. That's all in there. And it's the whole thing. I mean, that's one of the things with Faber in the last fight and in my fight after that is I've been in so many wars and I've been hit so many times, you know. So it's like sometimes you just can't turn off the thinking machine. I wish I could. I mean, if I could, I would box blindfolded. I don't want to see the I'm going to be moving side to side. front and back, not because I'm trying to time their punch, but because it's what I'm supposed to do. I throw a left hand, I'm supposed to be slipping to the right. You know, my hand's supposed to be up blocking. You do that defensive dance, not because you're trying to time what they're throwing, but because that's what you're supposed to do. If one hand's out, obviously the other one needs to be up. Your chin needs to be down. You know, you've got to be slipping to the side. So that's the part we're thinking sometimes. Man, I can't believe you just hit me there. And you're standing in one spot. Bang. Okay, got it. Just hit me again, you know. What part of your body hurts the most to get hit? You know, I block most of them on my arms. And they're usually the forearms. I mean, I got this here.
You know, he's been there for a while. What is that? What the heck is that? He's showing us the bottom portion of his left forearm. And there's just a giant lump there. Oh, my God. That's why I went to Matt Hume. Because he was coaching Sakurai. And their game plan was kick Jens' left so he could never throw it. Just keep tapping it. And then drill him as he comes in. And sure enough, about... Halfway through the fight, I was like, you know, this is really starting to hurt. He was kicking inside of my leg, kicking my arm. And then I finally, I got him to stop for about three seconds. I hit him. And then I'm like, oh, my God, I can't even close my hand. Real flurry. He just picked me apart. He was kicking. Yeah, he was kicking. I mean, you'd almost think you've got to have good. It's got to be pretty accurate to be able to do it. And, I mean. Dude, he's just tagging it and tagging it. Yeah, I mean, I don't even know what ripped in there. No, it's been there for a couple years now. That's awesome. We're talking to Jens Pulver, who this weekend is going to be taking on Uriah Faber right here in San Diego. I'll be there. Are you going? Oh, for sure. I'll be there. Let me ask you. Jens, let me ask you. Where do you go mentally when you're in the ring in order to allow you to be the most aggressive? Because it's all about being...
more aggressive than your opponent and and also having something in you that turns on that allows you to be there's no other way to put it angry in order to get to this what is what is it you mentally go to well you know that's that's kind of cool yes that um that's my problem That's what I've been running into in my last five fights. That's why I've lost. I've been on the losing end more than I have the winning end. And I used to be, like I said, pound, pound, one of the best fighters in the world. I was the UFC world champion. But I lost that anger because, man, my personal life, which is what I used before, I used to use the images of my father, the things that he would do, just the troubled childhood that I grew up in, being abused, things like that. But now I've had my son, my daughter. And my wife and my life is, I'm like, dang, my life is, you know, I'm happy. I'm very happy. Now it's hard to harness that. And we used to, it's kind of weird to talk like this, but I've always said, you know, there's Little Evil and then there's Jens Pulver. And, you know, I'm like, I don't, everybody's always, you got to get Little Evil back. You got to get this guy back. We go out there and fight angry, you know? And I'm like, I don't know. And then my wife just said, well, maybe Little Evil's gone. Maybe it's done. Maybe it's just time to be Jens. And you go out there and just fight because you're fighting.
You know, hurt him because it's your job. So I'm trying. That's actually one of the mental things. The biggest mental thing that I'm trying to harness and learn now is, you know, even with Faber, the punching don't bother me at all. This isn't life or death to me when I go out there and fight. It doesn't scare me. I'm not, you know, worried about a beating. I mean, I've been taking those since I was five, I believe, about that, you know. And so I'm not worried about that. I just got to get geared up and motivated to. It's more trying to break their will. That's where that anger comes from. You've got to just ignore what they're doing, push them down, knock them over. Make them where they just don't want to keep getting up. They just don't want to get up. Here we go, gents. Hire me. I'm going to be in your corner, and I'll just insult you the entire time. That works. That works. That can work. Done. Gents, I have said this on the air a million times. I'm going to tell you, and you can keep this in mind as you're training. I say a million times, anger is hurt, sadness, and fear. If you can tap into the parts inside that still are maybe hurt, sad, or fearful, I think that that's going to be the key to harnessing that energy. And also, there are always people who believe that you can't do what you want to do.
So when you go in there, there are people who believe that you can't do this. Yeah, those are my favorite. I have to have one or two of those that I can middle finger afterwards and say I told you so. That's what you can harness. That's it right there. Jen's an interesting guy. His first son, Carson, born December 16th. And how was that? It was unbelievable. I mean, it was the coolest. I can't believe my wife, man. And, I mean, there's tough women out there. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to take away from anybody. But, I mean, we were sitting there, and we had a false alarm two days before. And, oh, man, 2 o'clock, it's time to go. I can't even figure it out. I'm just grabbing whatever she has bag-wise, and I'm running. Yeah. And I'm driving. You know, I get down there, and it was a false alarm. It didn't really dilate much, but we were there until probably 10 a.m., you know. And so, anyways, we come back. So, two days later, she's like, well, what should I be looking for? When should I come in? Oh. You know, like, ooh. Yeah. So she didn't want to wake me up two days later. No. She felt it. She didn't want to wake me up. No. So she just gritted, right? She gritted. We showed up. She was dilated to an eight and a half. She should have had a baby. That thing didn't fall off. That's what I'm saying. And then she just walks in, sits herself down. She's on nothing. She's just pushing, pushing. By the time she says, okay, this is kind of starting to hurt. Like, oh, it's too late. He's already, you know, he's.
There he is, two hours later. She's the first child and she, yeah, she wanted. I'm like, well, how bad were you hurting sitting there? She's like, it wasn't bad. I just, it was crampy and I go, okay. She goes, I just didn't want to wake you up. And I was like, oh my God. You have the best wife ever. Eddie is a first time, he's going to be a first time dad in July. Oh, nice. Yeah. Tell you what, you'd be in that room. It took me, I think it was three hours where I finally. I didn't cry once I held him. I can admit it, man. I cried like there's no tomorrow over and over and over and over. It's true. It's crazy, man. Eddie got to hear the heartbeat yesterday. How was that? It's something else, man. Every time that happens, it's like, whoa, there's something in there. Oh, my God, this is real. This is going to happen. This is for real. That's real cool, man. One of the things about Jens was that he was a coach on the Ultimate Fighter 5, and his... who he was going against was his rival was BJ Penn. Let's talk about it. BJ, George St. Pierre, who you like? You know, to be honest, I got it. I want, I want to see BJ Penn do it. Really? Yeah. I mean, he gained weight. I think he can. I mean, he gains weight wrong sometimes, but I think he really wants to beat this guy. And that's what I told everybody. When I was doing this show with BJ, I'm like, y'all don't know. I am waking a sleeping dragon. This guy.
He will do whatever it takes to get at me. I knew how bad he wanted to kick my butt. And then that show, I was just rubbing it in. Dominating it, beating it to ping pong. I didn't lose a coin toss. I knew the only thing he had left was the fight. So I knew I was going to wake up just a sleeping dragon there. But, you know, yeah, we still have the bad blood. And everybody's like, oh, you guys kind of must have fixed it. You're wanting him to win. No, man, I want him to be the best fighter on the planet because I ain't have a win over the best fighter on the planet. There you go. There you go. Is Kasim in here? Kasim, let's talk to you, too. Sky, can you share a mic with you? Oh, yeah. I want to talk to Kasim. Have a seat. Kasim, how you doing, man? What's on your wrist? I'm doing good. What's going on? I had to get a scope. That's from the Kansas City game. Really? I need to pile. You know how all that stuff goes on. Everything good? Oh, yeah. They twisted it up. But they fixed it. I'm good now. Very good. You played the last couple games with something jacked up? Yeah. Torn cartilage. Oh, ew. Dude. Oh, that's got to hurt. Oh, you're crazy. Tape it up. Tape it up, you're good. You're crazy. Broke some dirt on it, you're all right. See, unlike Jams, I get the opportunity to wear a helmet, so I'm a little safer. How did you both meet each other?
How did you guys meet? We were at a fight. I think it was a WCE fight out there at the joint. That's cool. A couple years back. Yeah. It's been a little while. That's crazy. He's coming in. Y'all surprised me. We'd have a fight, and I'd be there. I'd call him and bug him. Like, you got to win. Like, I bet. Actually, I feel bad, though. After I met him, I'm like, man, I like to sit him down again. I'm like, no. I'm telling you, I get like that, though. There's certain people, I'm like. Man, I got to call him and tell him I'm sorry. They just popped up in the hospital. I got to call and apologize. That's what Kisim said after the Pittsburgh game about you. Yeah, yeah. I was like, I'll let everybody down. It goes back and forth. Hey, man, are you guys, how are you feeling? Are you feeling good? Is everything good, Kasim? The team's pretty bitter. Yeah. Yeah, for the most part, we're excited that, you know, going 8-8 and still be able to get in the playoffs and having a chance to even play the Steelers again, you know, to try to redeem ourselves from earlier in the year. It was a good opportunity for us, so we're pretty excited for next year. What kind of touchdown feels better? The kind of touchdown when you're running back, when you're running one back for a touchdown or when you're receiving a touchdown? Is there a difference in the feeling?
Anytime you can run somebody over and score or just make a spectacular catch, that's always the best. Now, this is a good question for Kasim because we're asking Jens, where do you go mentally? Because there's obviously a difference in the way that you approach special teams because you're known for being just an animal on special teams. Let's say you're a coach and you're teaching high school guys what it is that they need to have up here. when they're approaching special teams. What would you say? What is it? Reckless abandonment. I love it. Yeah. I mean, you've got to realize that you have to do this job because no one else is going to do it. It's like being a kamikaze. It kind of is. You're just running down, and if you get hit from the side, so be it. If you run through somebody, so be it. Get them before they get you. Absolutely. And, Kasim, is it also that, you know, You're so good at it that you're getting some accolades from how good you play special teams. Does that inspire you to do more and more, or does that not play a part of it? For a little part of it. For me, like Jen's, I have a daughter, so I just think about it. I have to provide for her. That guy is trying to take money out of my pocket away from my daughter, so I have to provide for my family. That's awesome. That's definitely motivating.
And what is it that feels the best? Like, you know, what is it that feels the best when you're making contact? I've asked that to Sean Merriman, too. Do you remember a good stick? Yeah, you get a tingle down your spine. Not in a bad way, like you lose sensation. Yeah, right, right. Everything lines up properly. Do you have a professional memory in your professional career? Or actually, let me ask in your entire career of a particular play. that you made that you will never forget? Yeah, I caught my first NFL touchdown from Doug Flutie, and I wanted to celebrate, but when I jumped in the air, the guy cut my legs out. So as I was hitting the ground, it was in Denver, and I hit the ground. I had cobwebs, and I was walking to the wrong sideline. I had to come and grab me, like, yo, we're over here. I wanted to celebrate, and I was like, I want to celebrate, but I don't know where I am right now. That's awesome. Are you going to see Jen's fight this weekend? Yeah, yeah, I'll be there. That's awesome, man. He asked you. Yeah, for sure. For sure. I got to yank him up in that cage and I'll win. Oh, I love it. Eddie, what's the deal? Where can people, if people want to go? I mean, is it sold out? Can you get tickets? I think there may be a few tickets left, but it's at Sports Arena on Sunday. Huge WEC event. I'm going to actually be out there early tailgating, so if people want to roll out to the Rock 105.3 event. What time will you be there? About 2 o'clock. Sweet. So, yeah, come party with us.
Sim's going to be there. Jen's fighting in the main event. It's going to be huge, man. This is tomorrow? Sunday. So two days. Jen's has two days to do this. I don't know how you do it, dude. He's been here before. He's been here before. He's staying his first picnic. Please tell me your secret. How do you lose the weight and still have energy? That's what you're worried about is the weight part. I'm good. The thing is, one, I'm in great shape. And it's not like I'm starving. I'm not just like, ooh, I'm not going to eat. I mean, I'm just eating food I can't stand. I mean, I'd take a salt break right now like you wouldn't believe. Yeah, yeah. I'd be all over it. I would. The salt lick would be the way to go right now. I mean, it's just, you know, spinach and tuna. The raw broccoli, I tell you, man, I can't stop complaining about that. Now, talk to me about this. Talk to me about this. Do you have it with you or does your trainer carry around this broccoli? Where is... First thing we did is I went to Ralph's, man. Here's a plug for Ralph's downtown because it's 24 hours. I've already been there three times. Oh, dude. Oh, my wife is together. She just gets... She gets it. She's off, man. So she comes into the hotel room. She's got a bag of broccoli. Yeah. And so...
Let's talk about this. It's the broccoli and cauliflower. Now, do you break it off with your hand and just start eating it? Yes. Dude. Yes. That's what I'm saying. Well, no, it gets worse. It's gross. It's even better. It's gross. Now, Matt Hume's first day says, whatever you can grab with two hands. That's what you eat. So that's your meal. I'm picking two up. He goes, no, you got to have more now. I'm like, it's broccoli. I don't want this. But, again, it's. You know, no sodium. So, yeah, talk to me about why broccoli. Basically, you're losing weight eating that stuff. You know, broccoli, cauliflower, just your raw vegetables that, you know, and that's all I can have. But that gives you a little bit of energy, though, right? I mean, yeah, well, the biggest thing is you're still feeding your body. And if your body doesn't think it's starving, again, with the distilled water, and if your body thinks it's starving, number one, it's going to do, okay, what's burning all these calories? It's your muscle. So that's the first thing you're going to lose is your muscle. Second thing, see, people think otherwise, man, when you're drawing out that water and stuff, they just try to starve to cut weight. Second thing it's going to do is, well, we're in starve mode, and it's going to hold on to everything. You're not going to sweat. You won't even go to the bathroom. I'm not trying to be crazy, but you can't go to the bathroom. Everything just shuts down and tries to reserve. And that's why the distilled water.
and the raw vegetables, it's not going to hold that in you. I've got to write this down. You're tricking your body. You don't want to eat raw. No, you guys, I've got to do this. You're eating raw brownies. I'm trying to fix it. Have you ever heard of eating raw pizza? That's what Ashley does on a very, she says. Too much, Pulver, too much. Rob Pizza, has that still got the dough and everything on it? Yeah, she also gets Cinna Sticks. She gets a lot of those Cinna Sticks. No carbs. She likes that. No carbs. I'm like a carboholic right now. Not right now, anyway. I mean, when it's done, what's going to be your first meal? What will you have out when you can't? Spaghetti. Is that your thing? You love spaghetti. Your wife makes the spaghetti. Look how happy he is right now, dude. No, she won't make, well, I mean, Al Borda, he's letting us stay at his townhouse down here at the Gaslamp, so. I do have a kitchen, so maybe I'll let her cook. Because she's from Thailand. You're already dreaming of it. She's Laos. And I'm telling you what, she's trying to find the Laos stores. And I'm thinking of the sticky rice. I mean, I'm thinking of the bamboo soup. You've got to come over here. You've got to go over to Mira Mesa. Yeah, that's right, dude. Oh, I mean, we need the Laos stores. So H-Mart, if you're out there, help me out, man.
Kasem, what's your favorite food? What do you love? What's your favorite thing to eat? We just had Donovan's last night. Oh, look at you. Some good stuff. What's up? Nice big steak. I had a bone in New York. And what are we talking? Are we talking medium, medium rare? Medium to medium rare. What's your side? What do you like as your side dish? Asparagus tips. Asparagus tips. Craziest story. I had dinner there with Sean Merriman one time. We're sitting there, and behind me is a booth. All of a sudden, Sean goes, Whoa, what was that? There was a couple in the booth behind us. Apparently some divorce papers were being served that night because she took a glass, threw it at dude's head. It missed him, hit the wall, like exploded. They had to come get him, escort him out. And Sean was like, I think that girl's pretty mad at that guy. And what was crazy about it is she, I guess, like planned this. Like, it was like, we're going to go. And when we get there, I'm going to confront you about what I, you know, some stuff stuff. And it got thrown. And we hear it. We're like, what is going on? And so he had to leave? Yeah, what's up with that? He didn't have. No, they escorted both of them out. Both of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've got my steak to go. Can I take my plate with you? I'll be the only guy holding it. It was pretty crazy. Let me get it right here. There we go. That's what I want. Listen.

It's an honor. Yeah, you'll be the designated hit it. So you call us right now, 570-1053. I will identify the radio station and you will kia. It's just a new tradition that we're going to be doing. I like it.
570. Let's kiss you lemonades. You make lemonades. That's right, Eddie. That is the saying. That's how it goes. That old hackneyed phrase. He gives you some lemonade. Then you put lemons inside it. That's right, Eddie. And then you squeeze. That's right. That's right. Milk, milk, lemonade. No, no. Stop right there. Please stop. Please stop. Did you just say milk, milk, lemonade? Stop it. Did you say it? Wait, who said it? I did. I did. But I was repeating what I had heard you say. Okay, okay. That's how he's going to play it. You know what I mean? Okay. Yeah. It is K-I-O-Z San Diego. Hit it. There it is, ladies and gentlemen. Nice. Thank you, Buckley. That was a good one. Go ahead. She's a scab eater. Wow, I like it. I like it. I like it. That was shocking, and I'm still kind of swallowing in my mouth. Yeah. What do you know about Boston? Now you go. Thank you, Buckley. Appreciate it. Let's see. This text message says... What does it say, Mike? Oh, did you get any text, Mike? Oh, no. Sky. This one says... This one says, Ash, I'm going to the WEC fight tonight. This is my first fight. What's a girl to wear? P1 Kung Fu. What does she wear, Ash? You're not going until Sunday.
Oh, yeah. Yes, it's Sunday. Kung Fu, it's on Sunday. But this is a legitimate question. Yeah, Kung Fu. It's real easy. Don't trip out. Just wear a nice pair of jeans. And that's it. Maybe like a cute top. Maybe that is your color. Or even just a black cute flattering top. Maybe a little dressy with some stilettos. No fight gear? You're not going to wear a cute like Chuck Liddell shirt or something? Well, I don't have any fight gear, but I don't know that Kung Fu would have any fight gear either. Like a rash guard or something? Yeah, you see everything from the t-shirt and jeans all the way to the pro host. Yeah, you could wear a skanky dress if you wanted to, but I wouldn't recommend it. Anything goes. It's not comfortable. Can I just say that the Ashley After Show... Oh, my God. I can't. I can't. Ridiculous. It is unbelievable. Let me tell you something. When will that thing be on the website? We're going to be putting it up. In case you don't know, Ashley now does the Mikey Minute where she recaps what the day's show was all about at MikeyShow.com. But she's also doing something new called the Ashley After Show. And what she does is if we have guests,
She takes the guests into another studio, and she interviews them about how their appearance was. Yeah, that's cool. Today, we had Kasim Osgood and Jens Pulver hanging out in the studio. So when they were done, she comes in, grabs them, takes them into the next room, and interviews them. It's not very professional. It's not for the faint of heart. Mike says you. She does not have a microphone. Says you. Thank you, Skye. She doesn't have a microphone. Budget cuts. Mike doesn't get it. Budget cuts. The microphone was let go. And so what Ashley does is she improvises and uses whatever is available. In this case, it was Jen Pulver's, Jen's Pulver's water jug. Yep. That's weird. She used it as a microphone. She made it work, you guys. Hey, in a pinch, you got to work with what you have. She interviewed them with a water jug. Okay, you don't need to give it all away, okay? And I won't tell you what happened next. Yeah, don't. And it disgusted me. He drank out of his water bottle. Dude, it's unbelievable. It happens after the show. Freak.
You'll flip out. When you see this, we were in here looking through the window and Eddie goes, oh my. We couldn't believe it. I didn't know they were watching me. It's crazy. Shock and awe you. Not that big a deal. Jen Bolver must have been like, is this really happening in front of you? Not that big a deal. Is this little blonde girl? Is she really drinking my water right now? That I need? That I need? I mean, it was crazy. It was crazy. And it's all on video. And it will be on MikeyShow.com. Yeah, I just put it in a file. So hopefully next 20 minutes. Next 20 minutes, you'll be able to see it. It's crazy. That girl is really on one. You guys are very dramatic. Yeah, it's us. Yeah. Not you. It's us. That's right. Thank you. Chrysler has announced some very big discounts. Yeah. Which is weird because wasn't that what that guy was calling about the other day? That P1 saying he went to buy a car and they wouldn't work with him on the price? Well, he tried to buy the Whistler.
Was that the problem? It was Whistler. True story. You can't get that. Okay. Well, Chrysler is starting this employee pricing plus thing, and they're going to run ads. It's going to start on Monday. So it'll be for all 2008 and 2009 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles. And basically it's going to be the price that employees pay for their cars. So it's going to be a couple thousand dollars less than the sticker price. They say typical discounts will be like $3,500 on 2009s and up to $6,000 off. on 2008. Plus, they're also offering a $1,000 rebate if you get your financing through Chrysler Financial. 0% financing. A lot of different cool things. So they're really, really trying to move their cars. Well, that means deals are to be had. Yep. Do your thing. Yeah, get it. The whistler. I don't think that's... Let's see. Dakota Fanning is going to be in the sequel to Twilight. Yeah, like according to inside sources. Have you seen her lately? Yeah. Well, she's growing up. Yeah. She's not little Dakota Fanning anymore. She's in that awkward. She's seven. She's in that awkward state. I saw her in Man on Fire. She's like six or seven. No, that was like seven years ago. She's in War of the Worlds. She's like eight. No. She might be eight. No. She's in that awkward teen.
Phase right now? Worst phase ever. Yeah. I feel so bad for her. Yeah. Well, they grow out of it. Yeah. And they become beautiful. So they say that she didn't even have to audition for it. The part was just offered to her. Oh, look at her. And so they're in negotiations right now. Hayden Pantieri's dad. Am I saying that name right? Because I always feel like I'm talking about underwear. You said it perfectly. Yeah. You're good. Hayden Pantieri's dad pleads no contest to Battery. Yeah, this is back from August when he allegedly hit his wife. So he pled no contest. So he'll get 24 months probation, 400 bucks in fines, and have to attend a year of domestic violence counseling. Of course, their family released a statement saying that this was all completely blown out of proportion. I see. Yeah. 570-1053 is our phone number if you want to call us. You guys want to hear a little something from Brad Pitt? I would love to. Brad Pitt. Talking about his Oscar nomination. The Oscars are our greatest. It's our highest honor. So when your numbers come up, it's great fun for the movie. There to be enjoyed if you're invited and there to be enjoyed if you're not. It's all fine. Speaking of Oscar nominees. Meet Joe Black. Wait, that was a while ago, Eddie.
It's that Brad Pitt that you're doing right there. He's dead on. He's very serious in the conversation, really. You know, to be asked to be, you know, invited. Me and Angie are really excited. Yeah, no one calls you that people. When he calls her Angie. We're going to get a tattoo about it. Good. We're really weird. Yeah, I agree. That was cool. Thanks, guys. You're welcome. Pleasure being on your show. Nice. Pleasure having you. That's Brad Pitt. You're so serious. Robert Downey Jr. What do you know about Boston? Robert Downey Jr. was talking about how many times he's been arrested in Japan. Oh. Yeah, and he got, you know, they were kind of questioning him when he was there promoting Iron Man. Please have a small problem with your passport. This is Japanese impression. It makes up to some... That's what he said. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, but I'm... Well, you did not make a claim of said activity. I was like, oh, look, I retired, my assistant...
All right, we would like to interrogate you. Seriously, when he was going to Japan, they look everybody up. They see what your name is, they look you up. Guy had an extensive Japanese criminal record. I mean, who doesn't, Mike? I mean, who are you to judge? That's true. 2009. That is true. I mean, Rob can't even get into Canada. I know. I can't wait to go back to Montreal. Rob is seriously... It's a great city. No, it sounds really fun. This place called Cherokee's, it's awesome. It's a pool hall. Yeah. Gotta go there. They don't have those here in the States. Yeah, never seen one of those around here. Not a Canadian one. That's true. Copy there. Mike, the bacon is round. Yeah, dude. Would you like to hear what Larry King's son thought about? Tell us what your son thought about the new president, Barack Obama. Please tell us what he thought. Bob, in that regard, my younger son, Cannon, he is eight. And he now says that he would like to be black.
I'm not kidding. He has a lot of advantages to being black as him. The weird thing is it was because of Aretha Franklin, not Barack Obama. Of course, I slapped him right after he said it. I was like, who do you think you are? What's the matter with you? Why are you eight and I'm 79? How can I procreate at 71? How does he have an eight-year-old? I don't know. I had him when I was 80. Yeah. Robert Gibbs, the guy that swore in Barack Obama, the guy that messed it up. No, no, no. That was Chief Justice. Yeah, he's the White House press secretary. Press secretary was talking about Obama and the Blackberry, right? Because Obama has worked it out. I don't know that it's a Blackberry or is it? Is it a Blackberry or did they get him another device that's similar to a Blackberry? Well, they're calling it the Barackberry, first of all. I'm over that. I already hate it. I'm already exhausted from it. And I think it was like specially manufactured. To the Barackmobile. That's right. Just for him with all these special features and encryption and stuff like that. Okay, this is what I don't understand. Do his goodies. He can use it.
And there's no compromise to our safety or our national security. Yeah. But what I don't get is, OK, he's obviously emailing people. So they're obviously getting it, looking at it, reading it. So what does that prevent? How does that, you know, like, how are they going to work that out so that it's like. for their eyes, what is it, explode after they read it? Yes, that is what happens. Does it self-destruct like five seconds after they read it? Every time you get an email from Obama, your computer explodes. It explodes. Oh, that's crazy. Yeah, that's the way it works. It's a bummer. Anyway, so this is him talking about it. Press secretary. The president has a blackberry through a compromise that allows him to stay in touch with senior staff and a small group of personal friends. All right, we're going to do this again, only this time. You have to take a shot every time he says. Oh. All right. The president has a blackberry through a compromise that allows him to stay in touch with senior staff and a small group of personal friends. Drink. Oh, gosh. In a way that use will be limited and that the security is enhanced to ensure his ability to communicate. I've got to throw up.
Will the records be capped? Yeah, the presumption regarding those emails, they're all subject to the Presidential Records Act. He's good at saying. Are you serious? Anybody's got some Jerry Garcia? That'd be really good right now. Really good. That's awesome. That was a 39 second clip and he said it 14 times. Half the time. Well, he's new, Mike. He's working out the kinks. That's part of the job. He's working on it. Watch some film, bro. You remember the first Ashley After Show. Way back when, remember? We had a lot of kinks we had to work out in that team. Everyone got wasted listening. Okay. I'm just buzzed. You're drunk, Eddie. You're drunk. Shut up. I can drive. You don't tell me to shut up. Give me the keys, guys. Give me the keys. I'm going to drive. You shut your stupid mouth. You don't call me stupid, you stupid face. And now, the nominees for Best Picture. And finally.
I'm pleased to announce that the film selected as the Best Picture nominees. Why Forrest Whitaker every year, too? Why did he get picked to do that? Wasn't it two years ago that he won Best Actor? Is that why? For Ghost Dog, right? Yeah, Ghost Dog Millionaire. He's good, Mike. Ghost Dog Millionaire. No, it was Ghost Baby Ghost. Work it out. For 2008 are The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Sean Chafin. You're really good, Brad. You're the best, Brad. My wife really wants me to see your movie, Brad. It's a great film. I had a really fun time making it. And, you know, David Fincher really, you know, he had a vision. And I think that we all really just tried to execute that. Oh, wow. That was deep. That was deep. Who's talking while I'm trying to speak? Oh, no. I'm sorry, Brad. It's very rude. Wow. I'm sorry. Drink. Frost Nixon. Brian Grazier. Ron Howard. And Eric Felner. Producers. I don't want to see it because. Frank Langella doesn't look anything... Okay, fine. I know what I said yesterday. No, that's the way it looks, Mike. It's understandable. That's the way it looks on paper.
I don't think he looks like Nixon. I don't think he sounds like Nixon. Why would you go see it if he doesn't look or sound like Nixon? Transport yourself into another time. Okay. What? All right. That's what I'll do. I eat Boston Nixons every morning. Oh, they're really good. A little sugary. A little sugary. A little toast with that. They're great. All right. Dan Jinx and Bruce Cohen, producers. The reader. Nominees to be announced. What is that? Who is that, long guy? Mother of the Reader. Yeah. And men are the nominees. What? And Slim Dog Mugino. I mean, the guy is not on our show. Christian Colson, producer. Thank you. We need another producers. Yeah, for sure. I was concerned about them. Who watched The Office last night? Oh, please, I did. Please. Rob. Robert Stevens. Dude, after last week's where they're running and trying to beat each other's speed, I don't think anything in my life will be able to top that. That was a good part. That was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Them debating if Hilary Swank's hot was funny. Yeah, I like that. That was so creative. That's what we do. Yeah, that was awesome. But how do you not... You've got no taste. Oh, I do. What are you guys talking about? Some actress, whether she's hot.
Who's the gal in question? Hilary Swank. Oh, Hilary Swank. Not at all. She's going to be nice. Have you seen her with her bangs? She looks like a monster. She is a beautiful movie star, so maybe we should just go to work. She is an amazing actress. That's not the question. She's not hot. Yeah, thank you for this. Okay, okay, okay. Let's do a vote, and then we'll be done with it. I'm not voting. Don't we? and who thinks that Hillary Swank is not hot? Five. Five to five. Thank you, accounting department. That's funny. So was that. Yeah, they do presentations, it's a whole debate. It's pretty awesome. Yeah. I think you will enjoy hearing from Rob's yesterday email. He says the following. He says, I'm wicked broke and Vons was having a sale on couscous.
It's already funny. You're an idiot. One box for two bucks. And I had to get in on that action. Who says that about couscous? So nice, I named it twice. Listen to what he says next. I am a wicked big fan of couscous. The food's so nice, they named it twice. That's my brother. So while waiting in line, mind you, the store is packed. I'm singing along with the Celine Dion song, Playing in Bones. I believe that. Of course it was. Yeah, 100%. Of course. The cashier, lady probably in her 30s, says to me, nice voice. Want to sing that over the loudspeaker? I believe she was thinking that I would get embarrassed and say no, and that would be the end of it. But she does not know me. Oh, Rob. Do it. And know that it has been one of my dreams to sing over the loudspeaker advance. Whose dream is that? Make that dream come true. When I said, sure. She then tried to call my bluff and pretend to hand me the phone that they talk on over the speaker system. Shut up. She dialed in the number to connect with all the overhead speakers. I took the phone. No.
And belted out the most graceful. Oh, I bet it was beautiful. And inspiring version. I bet it was gorgeous. Of Celine Dion's. Are you ready for this? Yes, please. I'm your lady. Can I do it for you? I would love to hear it. Let's do this. Wow, Rob. Now, what Vaughn's location got to enjoy this little treat? Claremont Town Square. Oh, you lucky people. That is fantastic. You lucky ducks. Dude, the store stopped. And called 911. Dude. That is fantastic. It was awesome. Holy crap, Rob. I think she was, you know, trying to call my bluff the whole time. Well, can you imagine being in the aisle and, like, you're trying to get, like, cereal or something? And I mean, it was packed. It was one of those, it was like that time where there were six lanes open and everyone had, you know, four people deep behind the two people that were paying. Well, did you hear about the couscous sale? Yeah, well, duh. Thank you. Of course it was packed. So she hands me the phone and I, after I told her, I go, they won't let me know the code at my work.
to get on the overhead speaker because I do this. They still won't tell me. We don't have it. What? Look, look for it. Try to find it. You can't find Celine Dion. I'm your lady. Oh, come on. How do we not have that? How do you not have that? That is fantastic. Well, Rob, you can just sing it. Is that what it's called? Yeah, I don't know if that's its actual title. Oh, really? Trying to pretend you don't know the name of the song? Yeah. No, I don't. I don't really know the name of it. Okay, here we go. I don't know the name of the song, but I was going... Me, me, me, me, me. Cause I'm... Graceful. Very graceful. Terrible tranny. That's awesome. What? Just terrible tranny. What is it? I don't know what it's called. You would not make a good lady. Oh, yeah, but I was entertaining the people at Vaughn's. Dude, that place... So everybody turns and stares? Stopped. Then people started going... Like, the two guys behind me goes, you're the guy on that show, aren't you? That's awesome. That guy on that show. Yeah, Brokeback Mountain, right? Awesome. So what? You want to kiss me?
You want to kiss him, Bobby? Why don't you put your lips where your mouth is? Which one are you, Will or Grace? Oh, my God. That is so stupid. That's fantastic. Oh, man. Dude, you found it? I think we have it. Is it the power of love? No. That's the power of love. Okay, let's not fight. He's trying to help. I swear that that's... That's the way it is? No, it's called I'm Your Lady. Mike, how do you know? Well, he would know. I mean, if anyone here should know. Actually. By the way, the Ashley After Show is up. Oh, really? It is? The Ashley After Show is up. Let's get off the air so I can go in the office and watch it. MikeyShow.com. I can't wait. If you want to see it. Mikey Show. Oh, oh. Oh, oh, oh. Wow. He really gets into it. I can't wait to go back to Vaughn's. Did they applaud him? No, they were shocked. No one applauded, but people started, oh, yeah, yeah, you're the Boston guy, huh? From that funny, funny, funny radio show thing. You make a lot of fat jokes. Mikey Show. Hey, it's P1 Monkey Man. What's up? It actually is the power of love.
Yes. Oh, I think someone owes Ashley an apology. Yes. I'm extraordinarily sorry. Look at those pits. Oh, my gosh. Ashley. You're inhuman. Oh, my gosh. I am not. That's Lake Mead. Oh, wow. You need to start coming in here in a wetsuit. This is really it? She says I'm your lady in this song? And you are my man. Because whenever I shop. They have something like this going. And I sing when I'm walking up and down the aisles. It could be any song. I just sing. I like to sing when I shop. Does every Vons in California play the same music at the same time as a satellite that they pipe into? Oh, I don't know. I could get my own show there. Yeah, you should. You're listening to Boston Rob Vons. KVON. Oh, I think this is it. It is it. And I was like, what kind of couscous do I want? Not the Mediterranean curry. Something is taking me over here. I don't know what's happening, but something is bubbling up inside of me that feels like love. Did you hold your index finger up? Did you do the index finger? Here it is. This is one of the most influential rock stations in America. Just so you know. Top of the charts. I am grieving. Whatever helps me. That guy is our lady.
I think I'm just mad. Let's go, little guy. Mikey Show. Hello. Hello. P1 Gridiron here. What's up? Hey, I'm ready to play Who Can Sean Beat Now? Oh, too soon. Too soon. Actually, it's not too soon. Mikey Show. Hey, what's up? Hey, I'm calling because, hey, what happened to Sean, man? Aw, too soon. Too soon. There are people that still don't know about Sean. Yeah. Probably. Sean and, nah, Sean and Zeth both got laid off with clear channel budget cuts. He's never coming back, ever? Well, I, I. Don't ever, never say, never say never. Never say never. Never let go. Never.
Well, Jack let go at the end. Yeah, Jack let go. No, but they say never let go. She let go. You're cold. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. She's so gross looking. You're like blue. There's only room for one of us on here. Seriously, I want to stretch my legs out. Oh, my gosh. I'm so warm up here. You look so cold down there. Oh, I should just let you go. It's actually getting hot. I'm going to take my jacket off. My hands are cold. I'm going to let you go. The plan was that I was going to hold on forever, but I'm going to let you go. Yeah, I'm over it. I don't want to nap. Mikey Show. Oops. Hi. Hi. It's Quimby. Hi, Quimby. How are you? What are you doing? You know, just kicking it. Oh, cool. You know, chilling. Right on. So, I'm listening to the show, and you know what's really weird? You know how when people, like, lose a limb, they say they can still feel it? Yes. I can still hear Sean and Seth laugh. I know it. I know. Well, Sean. Yes. It's so weird. Because Seth is peeping in your window. It bums me out, but, I mean.
It's just weird. It's like there's a ghost in the studio. Yeah. It's almost like there's an invisible person in here spray-painting graffiti all over the place. Yeah, that is weird. Like an invisible panda roaming around. Yep. I feel it. It wasn't perfect. Yeah. No, we feel that too. I know. We miss Shawnee, oh boy. I miss those boys. I know it. And Seth. Seriously, can we as a job. And Seth too. Like if I didn't say it, I somehow hate him. Oh, why do you hate Seth? Why? Why? Let me tell you something. You are the worst, Mike. He's a person too. I'm going to speak to this. He's going to speak to this. I changed my mind. I'm not even going to speak to this. Ashley, can we seriously get a drop? Of Sean's laugh. I want a drop of his laugh. And every once in a while, I just want to play his laugh. Absolutely. It will bring joy to people's hearts. Absolutely. It really will. It will also convince people he's never left. That's true. You know what I mean? That's for sure. Well, thank you, Quimby. Hey, no problem. Love you guys. That's very nice. 570-1053 is the number. And open phones. Let's do open phones. Beginning and end of every show, we do open phones. You can call about anything you want to.
And we would love to hear from you. Let's see. What have I not mentioned that I think is really big and good? I think Rob wants to hear about the tax cuts. Okay. So Rob, there may be more money coming your way, buddy. You know, this whole stimulus thing. So the economic recovery package that Obama's put. It should be everybody. It should be everybody. Every American. It's not going to be everybody. No, it should be. So who's it going to be? We'll be talking here. Okay. So if you make less than $75,000 a year. Keep talking to me. Not even close. You will get an extra $500, which they think will come back to you through your paycheck. When? Sweet. When? And then for couples who file jointly who make less than $150,000, then they'll get $1,000 back. But you file jointly. Sarissa, we're getting married tomorrow. Yeah. So the bill is still being debated. It hasn't been signed off yet. But that is the current plan that's being proposed to Congress. And they say that you'd probably see the money in early summer. Oh. Yeah, sorry. Summer? I'm sorry. They're working on it. I need to gamble now. Yeah. I've got to go to Saquon tomorrow. Yeah. But $500 if you make less than $75,000 a year. Oh, man.
What if you make less than $7,500 a year? And by the way, I want to try to find an update on that whole state of California tax thing, man. All the IOUs? Yes. So lame. That's brutal, dude. That they can't figure it out. Like, why are we so messed up in this state? Like, what happened? Yeah, and why are we still paying these people who can't give us a friggin' budget? We should hold their salary and not pay them if they can't do their friggin' job. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Get it together. I'm pissed. I don't get it. I don't get it. But what it, I mean, I don't really understand how it works. But I'm guessing they set a budget just like you do at your house with a budget, groceries, you know, all that stuff. And like, why can't they stick to it? They're professionals. I'm not. And I can do it. Yeah. Well, so they're supposed to have a budget in every year by a certain date. Yeah. And we're like, we're hurting. We need money. So we have to change the budget. We can't keep the same budget from before because it didn't work. We need to make cuts or we need to raise taxes or something. But they can't agree because, of course, Democrats don't want to cut funding for.
programs and republicans don't want to raise taxes so neither side can see eye to eye so they just keep fighting and disagreeing and disagreeing and we are way past the deadline now in other states the deadline is like a mandatory it's like a law like you have to have it done by that date but california is one of the very few states where it's okay to keep arguing and whatever so we have no plan and the debt just keeps rising and so we have no money question how is it that okay because i'm guessing that the reason that We put a budget together, but then we overspend, right? Yeah. Okay, but how, like, if they say you've got $10 to spend on your cell phone, how is somebody spending $20 on their cell phone? I don't understand how we, how are we capable of spending more? Weren't they giving themselves, like, raises and stuff at the beginning of the year or something like that? Yeah, but you know that we're not, you know, billions of dollars in debt because they, even if they did. Enough of it adds up, man. I'll tell you this, though. We shouldn't be building a high-speed railway to Los Angeles. Dude! What did I say? No. Hold on. Hey, Skye, what did you vote on that railway that you're never, ever going to use? You don't know I'm never going to use it. I'm going to use it every day. You guys all voted on it. I'm going to visit Sean on that railway. Okay? So you shush. So everyone that voted on that stupid railway, thanks for the IOUs when it comes to taxes. Stop yelling at us. The money hasn't even been allocated for that yet. Skye, we all know. Stop it. We had problems way before that. You know what? I'm holding you responsible.
I'm holding you short. Just like the weather. Yes! Good one, Skye! Have you noticed so much it's rained today? It drizzled a little earlier. It's raining right now. It is not. It drizzled earlier, okay? I'm not a weather woman. All right. Save that, Clavin. Oh, yes! Skye, you're the best. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, Mikey. I was wondering if I could pay tribute to Sean by doing my Sean laugh impersonation. Please. That is awesome. That's the best, dude. Dude, that was good. That was good. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Mikey Show. $500 if I make $75,000 or less. If I was making that much, I wouldn't need...
The $500. Sky, what do you think of it? Well, or less. I mean, you could be making $10. I don't get what you're saying here, sir. It's everything under $75,000. It's not over $75,000. Yeah, but if somebody's making $75,000, I mean, don't you think that they would be fairly well off? Not necessarily, dude, but people buying houses and things like that, everybody's hurting. And what it costs to live in California. It's just everything. Everything gets affected by it. But, you know, I don't know. I don't know, man. Give us $10,000 and then we can really stimulate this economy by going out and buying our big screen TVs and stuff, you know. Scott, you said it's $500? Yeah, if you make under $75,000 a year. That's the proposed plan. Thank you. Mikey Show. Yeah, I'd like to ask Eddie if he'd be accepting any beer donations at the fight. Well, you know, I'm not privy to answer that on the air, but yes. But you just answered it. All right. Mikey Show. Hold on. Let me be the nice P1 and turn out my radio. Thank you very much. I appreciate that. What's going on, guys? What's up, dude? Well, I was wondering when you guys are going to have The Apprentice back so you can hire our Sean. Dude, let me tell you. I'll tell you something.
When we did The Apprentice, it was during a period of time where the economy wasn't upside down. Yeah. And we were given the thumbs up to be able to do something like The Apprentice where the station could hire somebody, you know, on a part time basis. Never happened right now. Never happened right now. But I would love to see Sean audition for it. It would be great. It would be great. And latex gloves. Of course. You know, you know, beekeepers outfit. Try to avoid germs. Hey, thanks for the call, dude. Bye, man. Mikey Show. Hey, it's T-Rex. What's up, T-Rex? What's happening? What's going on? Hey, you know, earlier today when Sky said it wasn't going to rain. I didn't really. Yeah, for days. It wasn't going to rain for days. Up in rain, up in tomorrow. Knees. It was so bad. Oh, you are a liar, T-Rex. It's sprinkled out there. T-Rex had to get on the Ark. That's right. Shut up. That's a lie. There were sprinkles. Let me tell you something. T-Rex was on his roof with a sign saying George Bush does not care about black people. I think we should let the news girl go and bring back Sean. Oh, that's T-Rex. T-Rex. That was very... That hurt her feelings on the real T-Rex. It just actually really hurt her.
feelings, T-Rex. You better take that back. Okay, I'll take it back. Thank you. Take it back. I don't. No, I know. I don't care. I love you, Sky. There's also a clip that we play of Sky where she says, once I'm out on somebody, I'm out. Mike, we are screwed. All next week, she's going to be pissed off at T-Rex and be in a bad mood all week. That was mean. That was mean. He was making us a ha-ha. That was mean. He would never trade you for anyone. I don't believe it now. Wow. T-Rex. Way to go, T-Rex. You better make good. He came back in here with one of those tables and candles and everything, and he did the whole thing. No, it's too late. Money. I wouldn't roll that out. I would not. It's getting warmer, buddy. Yep. Starting to feel love again. Why don't you be talking? You know what always makes a girl feel better? A bouquet of 20. Yes. Least a dozen, but two dozen. Now we're in the loud. Salty pork product. That's right. Okay, Eddie. That one says love like a two-fourth. Hey, Mikey, I was in Vons and heard Rob singing that song. I didn't know it was B-Rob at the time. It was awesome. Yeah, he probably thought it was Celine. I'm sure. B-1 Joshman.
You have the same frame. Thank you. That was a compliment. Celine's about 20 pounds heavier. Cheese Swiss. Please, please, please let Rob sing The Power of Love as the closing act for today's show. I already have enough. Mikey, I'm 6'3", 350 pounds, and Rob inspired me, and I sang with him just now with the windows down. Nice. It's P1 Papa Burr. Mikey, I love Ashley's After Show. Yes! Love you, girl. P1 Nacho. If you want to see Ashley's After Show, please, please go to MikeyShow.com and check it out. It's really amazing. Thank you. And she, like I said before, she is 100% fearless. She has no fear when it comes to doing stuff with... People and saying weird stuff and doing weird stuff. She's clearly insane. Yeah, she's nuts. That's not a nice thing, Eddie. It's good for her, but... She works it? Yeah. Mikey, what happened to the gig where we listened to your iPod and press shuffle and see if the song's gay or not? I thought we just did that. P1 Spartacus. Yeah, we did. That was Rob. Yeah.
Mike, does Rob do birthday parties? That's P1 Giants. I'd do anything right now. I need some money. Oh, that's hysterical. This text says, Eddie, you made me laugh so hard I choked on my morning beer. That's P1 Bud. Oh, well, there's an issue there. Congratulations, Bud. Oh, man. All right. A couple more calls, then we've got to get out of here. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, Mikey, what's up? It's P1 Ponce. How are you? What's up, Ponce? Hey, I had a couple things. I was thinking my favorite Sean moment was when I got to watch the podcast from the 28-hour show when he got marked out to be a furry. Oh, that's right. That's right. Very first time. And then when I heard Ashley drink that dude's water bottle, I could just hear Sean freaking out. Oh, he would have flipped out. He would have flipped out. Mikey Show, last call. Bring us home. Hey, guys, it's Penguin. Hey, Penguin. So you guys know that I love you guys, right? Right. I love you guys. I feel something bad coming. Something bad is coming. What's going on? Penguin, don't. My feelings were a little hurt. When? As a native San Franciscan who absolutely adores her Niners. And I know you guys have a special place for the Niners in your hearts. Yeah. I know you do. Yeah.
Can you guys stop glorifying the Cardinals, please? No, no, no, no, no, Penguin, no, Penguin, no, Penguin. Oh, because they're in the same division, right? I had to talk with my husband the other night. Sorry, Penguin, got to go there. He felt the same way. I love the Cardinals. I think it's great. Penguin, Mikey's going to get a Cardinals jersey. No, you guys got to explain this. That's what hurt me deep. Thank you, Penguin. If the 49ers were in the Super Bowl, I would wear my 49ers jersey. Well, that's not being a fan, Mikey. How is it not being a fan of the Niners? They're in the same division, bro. But he's from both places. It'd be like being a Charger fan and getting a Raiders jersey. Well, see, I always knew the Cardinals as being in the NFC East. And a few years ago, they switched them, which really sucked. I hated when they did that. But that wasn't my fault. I love the Cardinals. Right, but you still have to be a fan. Yeah, I am. I love both of them. And especially with Kurt Warner. He was a ram. He was a ram. Stop yelling at us, Penguin. I like it. Keep yelling. He was, but I was an alcoholic. I'm not anymore. I mean, people change. He's not a ram anymore. You're right. He's another division rival. He's a recovering ram. He's a recovering ram. That's right. I love you guys. We love you. Thanks, Penguin.
That's P1 Penguin, who is a 49er fan. Big time. What are you going to do? Good girl. What are you going to do? Do you guys have anything that you want to... Eddie's going to be... Tell everybody what you're going to do. Well, I'm doing a little pre-tailgating action for the WEC fight on Sunday. So just look for the Rock 105.3 tent and van and all that stuff. I will be there. I'm going to be there about 2 o'clock and hanging out right up until fight time, which I think starts at 4. Dude. That sounds like a blast. See you there, buddy. You will, sister. Anybody else doing anything? I'll probably be at Ralph's this week. Yeah, on tour. It should be awesome. I don't know. Just Carrie Underwood. Carrie Underwood. I love that. That's only because the Bette Midler tape won't be. At the end of the show on Fridays, I tell you my story. I tell you a little bit about myself and how things have changed in my life.
And then kind of tell you what did it. I never plan out what I'm going to say. So when I start to tell you this story, I never am sure what I'm going to say. Experience in my childhood where I always felt like an outsider. I never felt like I fit in with anybody. I always wanted to, though. I always wanted to fit in. But I was a nerd and I knew it. See, it's one thing to be a nerd and you don't know it. It's another thing to be a nerd and you're fully 100% sure of it. That's where I was. And this thing happened where at a certain age I started to realize that I had a pretty good sense of humor and that I could make people laugh. But the problem was is that that dude inside of me that felt like a nerd was still there. Didn't just magically go away. And I was starting to...
drink when i was in my 20s and it was kind of quieting down that thing inside of me that felt like an outsider and felt like a nerd and it was quieting that but the problem was is it was creating this whole other new problem because the more i drank the more i felt like all those things i was trying to get away from i felt them stronger and dog chasing his tail when i got into my early 30s i was drinking a lot And it got to a point where everything in my life, I didn't really have very many boundaries. I've always been the type of person, always, even now. I don't drink anymore, but I'm still, in a lot of ways, you know, I have a personality and a certain thing in my personality where I forget things, man. I always forget things. I used to say real hurtful stuff to people. I would find out about it, and I say find out about it because I forget that I did. I felt guilty.
I felt like a dirtbag. When you feel like a dirtbag, it's really easy to convince yourself that you are a dirtbag. And I did. I've been in low points in my life where I was keeping a lot of secrets from people. Nobody knew that I felt so bad about myself that I was sticking my fingers down my throat to get sick so that I could lose weight. And it made me feel so disgusting. There was a lot of stuff that was going on in my life that always made me feel disgusting. Somebody said to me one time, it's all right to like yourself. And I got so mad because if I believe that anger is hurt, sadness, and fear, I was hurt because I felt embarrassed by it. I was sad because I knew it was true. And I was fearful that I couldn't do anything about it. I got so addicted to alcohol that I was going to die. I knew I was going to die. I was drinking so much. I was overweight. I was smoking. I was a mess. I was a wreck.
And I was laying in bed. You know, I said, believed in, always believed in Jesus, my life. And I'd had these, you know, kind of moments where I would sort of believe in Jesus and then I wouldn't. And I believe in Jesus and I wouldn't. I'd do my own thing. And that night, it was like I almost felt guilty talking to him because I hadn't been there for a long time and I'd been doing my own thing. But I knew that I needed help. And so I was asking him if he could come into my life and help me. Because I was at this terribly low point in my life. Not everybody finds him in that way. That's the way I did. But I know people that found him in a different way. That's the way I found him that night. Over the course of time, something started to become different in my life. And I wasn't as bitter and angry. I would talk a certain way, and all of a sudden I wasn't talking a certain way. I would feel immense feelings of loneliness that...
We're starting to go away because something different was happening inside of me. I told a guy the other day that said this to me because he's been going through this process himself and he said it to me. He's like, dude, something's different, man. It's kind of like getting bit by a vampire, huh? He goes, yeah, dude, something's changing. I'm depressed that you want to kill yourself through a church called North Coast Church. Maybe I can see you there sometime. The website is northcoastchurch.com. It's not about money. It's not about proselytizing. I'll tell you, because I know there's a lot of people that could be listening right now that are in the same kind of pain I was in. And hey, man, if it ain't for you, that's cool. You don't have to. And saying for me, that's what happened. That's my story. I'm just so happy to have him in my life. I love him so much. At the end of the show on Fridays, we play this song called Third Day. And the song's about hope. If you're going through any of those things I just told you about, depression or addiction,
Any of those things, or if you want more information on the church that I go to, it's just a link to their website. I have this thing that I call the help page.
