People, it's a four-day weekend. For some people, it's a three-day weekend because Monday is President's Day. Yesterday on Facebook, I saw a lot of people saying, woo-hoo, four-day. And I thought, oh, look at you, lucky people. Four-day? Yeah. I've seen a lot of those yesterday. I'm like, who gets the Friday and the Monday? Wow. Maybe they were just taking it, you know? That's weird. They were taking off their Friday, which should be good. Lucky. Lucky. Yeah, you can. It's a Mikey show. 604 and just really quick, we got five people on the show. It's myself, Eddie, Sky, Ashley, and B-Rob. And open phone line for you at 570-1053. And it's cool for you to call in about anything you'd like to call in about. We get right to the big stories, right to the big things that are out there. One of the biggest things right now is this plane crash near Buffalo. Which, did it happen later in the day? When did this happen, Skye? Gosh, I don't have a specific time here. Let me see. Because, Eddie, were you thinking that maybe it happened later? Yeah, because I was on the computer, I would say, late afternoon, and I didn't see anything about it. Yeah, 10.20 p.m. Eastern time. Yeah, that makes sense. 7.20 our time. 7.20 last night. What are the details?
You know, they're still trying to figure out exactly what happened, but it was this commuter plane that was going from Newark, New Jersey to Buffalo, New York, and there were 48 people on board. Wow. And, yeah, and they said that there was communication between the pilot and air traffic controller shortly before the crash, and that communication didn't indicate that anything was wrong. Really? Yeah, so they're still investigating, but it came down in a residential neighborhood and came down right on top, like directly into a house. Oh, man. So there were 48 people on board, but 49 people were killed because, you know, there was a person on the ground that was killed as well. It's pretty bad. And did you say the size of the plane? What kind of plane it was? Let's see. The commuter plane. The commuter plane. Those are small. Continental Connection is the name of the company. I don't know. Who knows what it is? There's Buffalo. Is it something to do with ice, you think? Could be. Could be just any kind of random engine thing. I don't know.
But that is a huge, huge story this morning. Well, it left from Newark and so, you know, and it was headed to Buffalo. So it was close, you know, to its destination. Oh, wow. It had gone that whole way? Yeah, which is weird because, you know, you normally think with maybe ice or something like that. It happened sooner. Yeah. So it'll be very interesting to see what investigators find out from this. So anyway, if you're waking up, that's the big news story. 570-1053. And then the other deal is that they're thinking that the stimulus package will get approved today. Yes. Oh, yes. Come on, big money. Sky, I know this sucker is close to $800 billion. Yep, $789 billion. The House and the Senate are expected to pass it today, and then it will go to President Obama's desk for his signature. Oh, wow. Yeah. Here is what President Obama had to say about it. Buy your own damn fries. Oh, man. That's in there. Man, that's not. That makes sense. I guess he just, that's the stimulus package right there.
Yeah, so there's lots of different things in the stimulus package to try and, you know, help people right now who are suffering from the economy. The big one that everybody is talking about is the make work pay credit. Make work pay credit. That's what they're calling it. That's basically, you know, the tax refund thing that, you know, everybody's expecting a little chunk of money from. A little chunk of change. A little chunk of change. So this is not what I expected it to be. What do you mean? Oh, no. Well, you know, they said that people who make $75,000 or less would get $400. Working couples who make $150,000 or less would get $800. But what they're doing is they're spreading it out over the whole year. Oh, come on. Giving you a little extra in each paycheck. I'm getting a dollar a day. So you will get approximately $15 extra per paycheck over the whole year. What? Are you for real? That is terrible. I probably won't even see it now because taxes will take mine right out. It's not April 1st, right? No, no, yeah. So taxes are going to basically suck it back. I don't want it. They can, you know what, keep my 15 bucks. You need it more than we do. So it'll total at the end of the year $400, but it's like 15 bucks every two months. Who's in charge of that? Let me tell you. I need to talk to that person. Well, think about it. I mean, and I may be...
might have to go across the hall and see if we could grab George Chamberlain for a second. Listen, this is what I need to understand. If the point of this is to get you money so you put it into the economy, that $15 isn't going to do it. It's half a tank of gas. You know, dude, seriously. Like, I don't know that that really sounds... Does that, I mean... The 15 extra bucks you get every two weeks is really what's going to do it? No. No, it's not. I'm telling you flat out right now. The 15 extra bucks, that's a drop in the bucket. Skye, I know. How does it work? Come on. There's got to be a way. No, I mean, that's how it works. And I'm thinking about it because, say, you know, people were talking about their concern. If you get a $400 check, you're just going to throw it in your savings account and try and, like, you know. No, I was going to spend it everywhere. Well, I know you were saying that you were going to drop it on the ground and tape it to walls. Throw it at people. Yeah, you know. Right on it. Go to the zoo, throw it in a lion cage. But if it's $15 per paycheck.
People aren't going to put that in their savings account. They're actually going to spend that. I don't know. Does that kind of make a difference? But it is a $15 increase. It's still $400. Any way you slice it, it's $400. So just to clarify, like they're not going to take the taxes. They're going to tax that money in my paycheck. I would assume they would. So then it isn't really $400. At the end of the year, maybe it's what, $300? I don't know, $200? Depending on how much is taken out? Well, yeah, I mean, I'm guessing, yeah. Which is jacked. Yeah, it's jacked. Well, this is, okay, I get what you're saying, Sky, that 400 bucks is 400 bucks, but if our, if the reason that you're doing it is to give a shot in the arm, isn't it like, okay, I think I might have the analogy. We have an infection that is so bad, it requires antibiotics administered by a syringe. But instead of giving us the full dose, they just give us a tiny bit. Yeah, but did the full dose work last time? It didn't. So this is more like, hey, you have an infection. You need to take these antibiotics for 10 straight days. And if you stop taking your antibiotics earlier, the infection is going to come back. I never take the whole antibiotic. That's the problem, Rob.
But I never do. It's too much. Like, oh, just give me the big shot and let me get it done with because I'm not going to remember. And you know what? What Sky is saying makes sense to me. And listen, the people that come up with it, they're smart. They're supposed to be smart. I mean, you know, I think it's kind of lame. But it's also like, oh, that's $400 that wasn't in my pocket before. Right. Sure. Sure. Even if it's only $15. $15 I didn't have before. Sure. Yeah. I mean, it's kind of lame how they're doing it, but. I don't want it. Oh, yeah, right. Then give me the $15 every two weeks. Yeah. After taxes, I'll give you the. $10 or $9 that it is. I'll accept that. Yeah, someone write that down. They may add that, like just add the $15 on top of after tax, after you get taxed. They may just throw in the $15. And if they do that, then I'm okay with that because that's fair. I think it's stupid. How much are you going to get, Rob? What do you mean? How much are you going to get? $15. $800, Sky? Is that what you said? It's $400 per person, $800 for a couple making under $150. I know I'm as big as a couple. Okay, wait.
What does that mean? Let's do some math here. So they say $400, assuming that there's 26 pay periods, would be $15 a pay period. Dude. Wait a minute, though. Oh, gosh. Is that taxed? See, that's what we don't know. Because if it isn't taxed. If it's taxed, yeah, you're going to miss a couple bucks will be taken out of that. But it could be like Eddie said, it could be just tacked on to the very end of your paycheck. So it's tacked on after your wages. Why don't you just give me two paychecks that are tax free? I'd love that. Help me out. That money would be better used. Well, they can't. We're not trying to help you out. We're trying to help out the whole economy. And if people stop paying taxes, then we're going to be in worse shape. So is this going to require, you know, because when the federal government does this, they have, you know, Boston Rob's name on a list because of the IRS. Now, because they're doing it the way that they're doing it, does this now require that each employer?
adjust at the HR level? That's what I'm wondering. Because if it does, what about error? You know, what about error? What if they, you know, because I do believe that the federal government gets it done. You know, like they got the IRS, they get it done. I'm just worried Rob gets somehow, somebody gets through the cracks in an HR department. Oh my gosh, I was supposed to do that. I don't know how it works. Yeah, I would assume it would go off the IRS numbers. Yeah. You know, because for them to contact every HR company in the whole country, I mean, it'd be, you know, 2012 before. Yeah. How is this going to happen? Like, does the government actually control, actually, do they actually have control of our paychecks? That's interesting. Yeah. I don't know. I don't think so. How is this going to work? Yeah. 5701053, P1 Mike is on the line. Mike, are you there? Yeah, hey. Hey, what's up? Hey, the way they're going to do it is they're, like, you guys already make that money. They're just going to withhold less when you go to file your taxes. Like, you'll see it every paycheck. They just won't tax you on it. And how much do you think, is it like Sky said, they'll see every paycheck will have 15 more dollars on it? Yeah.
Because, like, when they do the tax brackets, they'll just put, like, they'll just change, like, the logarithm, you know, on the however they do the tax brackets to give you that extra 15 bucks. That's why, like, both HR departments right now are still waiting for the new tax brackets to come out. You jerks that saved your money on the last time. Thanks a lot. This is good to you. That's right. P1 Brittany. Hi, I was actually just wondering, how does it affect people that get paid bi-weekly? Rather than people get paid weekly, are they going to get $15 bi-weekly? Or are they going to get their $30? That's an interesting question. I don't know. Everybody who makes under $75,000 will get their $400, and they're giving the $15 period, assuming that you're getting paid twice a month. But if it's basically what the guy said who called previously, I don't know if what he says is true, but if what he's saying is they're basically taking less taxes, which is giving you the extra money, then yeah, you would probably see it spread out over every single paycheck.
Oh, man. Because that's what's actually being adjusted, if that guy's correct. So you're going to get 750. That's my assumption. Every week. That is going to make the economy. Boom, man. We're going to be flourishing. Better than nothing. Better than nothing. That's a big bad combo mirror. Better than nothing. But see, this is. Wait a minute. Let's think positive. Let's think positive. Okay, fine, fine. Better than nothing. Can I offer this as a thought? I don't want to think positive right now. Can I offer this as a thought? The government's being a jerk. Robert, calm down. For those people that fall under the category of, I just got a pretty good chunk of change from the government. They want me to spend it. I'm going to. Yes. Done. And I'm talking about the folks from last year that got the whatever 400 bucks. I blew it all. Right. Right. Yes. I want to ask, even those people, are they going to really change their behavior with a $15 in that? Are they going to say now, just let me offer this. Are they going to say, you know, I was holding off on going out there and going shopping. But I do have 15 extra dollars in my paycheck. And so I think I'm going to get a couch.
Or will they say, you know, how will it be done? You know, because if they had. I should really buy a new car. Well, not like that. You could have gone out and bought an iPod the last time and that would boost the economy. You're spending money. You're getting out there. You're putting money. I think. The way I'm seeing it roll out is if you were to get it all in one lump sum, there is a chance you would just put it in your savings account and forgetting about this. But say, like most people, you have the, you know, automatic deposit. With your paycheck, it goes into your checking account. And then you see, oh, gosh, I got an extra, you know, 20 bucks here. I'm, you know, I'm going to order a pizza. You know, so it's slowly going because, you know, hopefully most people are checking their accounts before they're buying things. And they go, oh, there's a little bit extra in there. You know what? We're going to go to Outback. I'm going to put some pants on layaway. Yeah. I mean, seriously. See, the thing is, is I'm just thinking about habits. And, you know, just habits. And I don't know that the $15 will really change what you normally do. Maybe it will. I just, I don't know, man. Eddie, what do you think? Well, what if people, you know, before they were hit by, you know, these hard economic times, we're going out to dinner once a month or we're ordering a pizza every week or whatever, and they stopped doing that.
Now that they got 15 bucks every paycheck, which is $30 a month, they can start doing that again. I don't know. And it's those little things that can keep the mom and pop stores open. And, you know, the pizza place stays open. So the pizza employees still have a job. And, you know, it helps slowly. Like Rob wanted to buy the Batmobile. So, like, you save up. You save up. Yep. That could work. I think if they had done it differently, like maybe it's just for two months and it's 50 bucks, you know. I think people seeing that instead of 15, that's going to, because I don't know where you can go out to dinner and get, you know, a meal for two for $30, you know, because with tip, with drink, you know what I mean? Like 30, it doesn't happen. I've tried it and I've been like, oh. I might even think that this, that this may, I think it could even be a possibility that this encourages saving. You know, that they go, well, I want to buy something, but 15 bucks. I think I'll put my 15, but I'll have this go into a special account and I'll just put it together for a year. And then I'll have 400 bucks and then I'll spend it. Yeah, to me, that's exactly what it says right off the bat. You know, take this 15 and save it until I have the 400. And to me, the way I look at it is the people who are probably going to get this money aren't really worried at this point in time about big purchases. They're worried about.
day to day, like, hey, let's make sure I pay my rent. Let's make sure I pay my bill. Let's make sure I have enough for milk and eggs at the grocery store. So, yeah. Ash, what would you, if you get it, what are you going to do? Are you going to change? Well, my whole thing was, uh, Like habitually, the way that I spend my money is like I'll get all my bills and get everything done with. And then whatever I have left over, like I spend it. And I don't really think about like, oh, there's that extra 15 bucks. And what am I going to spend? I just spend like whatever I got. And this is something I'm working on, but I'm kind of a crazy spender. And so I already know for myself, not only am I not going to notice the $15, I'm definitely going to spend it because I drop my account down to zero every two weeks. Like I will push it all the way to the edge. I'm one of those. Like I'll admit it and I'm working on it. Rob is too. I have zero in my account. Exactly. So if you had that extra $15, Rob, you wouldn't even realize it, but you would spend it on cigarettes. You would spend it because you and I both do that where we make our accounts go down to zero. That extra $15 isn't even going to cover my dentist bill that I got worked on two weeks ago. But you know what I'm saying, Rob? You see what she's saying? You're going to spend it. You're going to spend it. It's going to be spent. It's not going to be spent.
on the way they want a stimulus package to be spent. What are you saying? That they only want people to buy big items? No, they want to trickle the money in. That $15 is going to go to your bills, right? Yeah, it's going to continue to pay off my school debt, my dentist debt. But I do that anyway. But it's $15 more. I'm in so much debt, they could give me $100 every... Rob, you're spending the money regardless. You're spending the money regardless. Let's brawl this one out. It's the only way to solve this. This guy's crazy. P1 Fanny Pack. What's going on, dude? I just want to say how much I love you guys. I've been listening to you guys for about two and a half years now, every morning. And when I can, I listen to your podcast, and I love that you have every show up there now. Oh, yeah, dude. I love you guys. I appreciate being on the air. Hey, dude, have you seen the new things that we put on the website, like the Valentine's e-card from Boston Rob, the Stupid Cupid? Free, by the way. No, I haven't. I have to go look at it. Oh, go look at it. Tell your friends and send them. It's free. Dude, it's free. It's free. Definitely do it. My mom sent so many of those out yesterday.
Did she? Yeah. She emailed me every time she sent one. It's free. It's free. Yeah. There's five of them, too. So they're circulating New York right now. Yeah. So there's other stuff in the stimulus package. You want to hear about that, too? Sure. Oh, I don't know if I could take any more. I'm going home. Well, there's a little break for the middle and upper middle class families that they will have a one year relief from the alternative minimum tax. They don't exactly say what, you know, upper middle class, like where that line is cut, but that's in there. In 2009, you'll be able to deduct state and local sales taxes if you buy a new car. you'll be able to deduct that from your tax bill. Yeah, the only thing wrong with that is that we here in California, we're not getting any refund anyway, man. We get a big fat IOU from the state. By the way, everybody listening, did you know this, Rob? Of course. It was on Rock 105, but sometimes you rarely listen. Because we announced this about a week and a half ago. And you freaked out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're not getting refunds for the state of California. I didn't know it was definite. Oh, yeah, yeah. We announced it. In fact, we made a big deal. We were saying, you know, I actually had the USC marching band come in and we kind of made a production out of it that they are not. That's the way it looks like it's going to go. I thought it was for sure. Marky, tell me that's not so. I thought it was a done deal. Not that I've read. They said that's the way it's looking like we're headed. Yeah, that's what I thought. It was. No, it was at dinner with Russell. Oh, geez. It was at dinner with Russell, and then I thought we came in, and it was like a done deal. No, we were talking about, they were saying, this is what's probably going to have to happen. See? Told you. Yeah, Russell. Rob, you're right. We're getting it. Another thing in the stimulus package is if you're a first-time homebuyer, you will get a first-time refund or credit of $8,000 if you buy a home.
There you go, Rob, just buy a house. What does that mean? Oh, yeah, no problem. I hope they take Monopoly money. That just means it's like a credit to, you know, to encourage people to buy a home, you know? But what's a credit? Like you can go spend $800? Let's see. A refundable first-time homebuyer credit to $8,000 if you buy, if you're a first-time homebuyer. I don't know exactly how you see that money. If they send you a check, it's the money. Guys in the studio are shaking their heads, yeah. They may, like, yeah. Yeah? Yeah? Don't. Yeah, they give you money. Scott, how awesome is that? They give you money that goes towards the house or just you can do whatever you want with it? A loan? Let's see here. Well, it says it also removes the requirement under current law, because there was a current law to give you some money if you were a first-time homebuyer, but you would have to pay it back. If you stay in the home for at least three years. And so they're saying that you get to keep this credit this time around. You know, it's not a loan this time around. You don't have to pay it back. Right on. So that's cool. What if you're a first time homeboy? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, you know, my cousin. Yeah. Also in here is health insurance. He just got jumped in a couple of weeks ago. That's cool.
He's a first-time homeboy. Yeah, so we were all proud of him, and we went to jump in. So this is for people who have lost their jobs and are unemployed. Help with health insurance. It will make jobless people eligible for COBRA insurance, which you're eligible for. You can get that if you're unemployed, but the government will subsidize 65% of the cost of COBRA for up to nine months. So that's really cool. Awesome. And they're going to up. The unemployment benefits, you will get an additional 20 weeks of unemployment if you're unemployed. So normally you only get unemployment for so long. Well, they're adding 20 extra weeks on top of that. And if you live in one of the states that's deemed a high unemployment state, you get another 13 weeks on top of that. Wow. So that's really cool. And then the last thing is food stamp payments. They would increase food stamp payments by about 13.5%. So they say for a family of four, that means they would see an additional $80 a month worth of food stamps than they currently get. That's a lot of stuff. Oh, that's why it adds up real quick and $789 billion. Man.
I think we should sell Alaska. Oh, please. What do you think we can get? I think we can get a lot. Sell it to the Japanese. A trillion? A trillion dollars. Throw in Sarah Palin for an extra large pizza. They got oil there. No, we want to take her. We're not drilling there. Yeah, so we got to now. Why don't we sell it to the Japanese, man? They're running out of land. You pay off our debt. And we'll give you Alaska. Yeah. That's a fair deal. No, that's lopsided. And we'll throw in Arby's Corporation. Wait, did you say Arby's? Yeah, we'll throw in Arby's. They get the whole corporation. Oh, I don't know about that. Love their roast beef. I'm not down with that. I'm not ready to give that up either. Wendy's. Wendy's? Yeah, because I don't like the square burger, so I guess that's... Oh, but I do. Yeah, I like the Frosty. Oh, the Frosty. We can't agree just like the Senate and the House. Sell them the recipe for the McRib. Are you not? I'm in. I'm in. Then they'll make it. You've lost your mind. They'll make it. They'll make it. Do we still get to make it? I would assume so. Okay. Maybe we'll put that in there. You better check on that. I will. I'll look into this. You're talking crazy, Eddie. No, I'm not. P1 Jester. Hello, Jester. Hi. Hey, I get paid bi-monthly on a salary, and whenever I did my income tax this past time, I got the whole stimulus check.
Added on to my tax return. You got the whole stimulus check added on to your tax return. So you got an extra, like, last year, $600. So you got $600 more when you got your taxes back? Yes. Did you ever get a check in the mail from the government? No, I never got a check because I do direct deposit. So it added on the amount for my income tax. Along with the amount for the stimulus. I don't know that it had anything to do with the direct deposit. Yeah, it had nothing to do with your paycheck. They were sending a check directly to your home in the mail. So you never got that. I got part of it the last time I did it. And then I got... The last time you did it? They've only done it once. Did you ever get a check in the mail from the federal government? Yes. For how much? $600, right? No, it was for $300.
So last year you got mailed a check for $300 from the government for the stimulus plan, correct? Yes. Okay, now you've just recently filed your taxes. And I got an extra $300 added on to it. So they just might have not paid for the full thing. I've heard commercials saying that something like this. I didn't fully understand it, but... He's weird. Well, man, government's weird, dude. That's what I'm saying, dude. Yeah, well, because it was based on your previous year's earnings. So maybe if the previous year he made more money and so he only qualified for a partial amount. And then when they went to do this year's taxes, they were like, oh, you actually should have qualified for the whole amount. Then they'd make up the difference. I've heard of that. That makes sense. It just freaks me out because I just know. that the people that are running the show are just like you and me, which means that... Except a little greedier. I'm not kidding. I had a conversation with my mom about this. Well, what I mean is that, you know, we're yahoos that make mistakes all the time. That's what scares me. You know what I mean? Hey, I want to welcome a couple of people to the studio. P1 Mike is the guy that won P1 Trivia. He's got a...
He's got a backstage pass, a laminated backstage pass. He's going to hang out in here. And who's bringing food today, Ash? Probably points are in front of you. I printed them, but then I closed it out. All right, don't worry. They're right next to you. All right. It is? Should have to give you all the juice right there. Thai Mango Chicken. So we're getting a restaurant called Thai Mango Chicken. What? Is it a restaurant? Yeah, you know me. Sounds good. That's the name of it, right? Ash Thai mango chicken. I'm in trouble. I mean, it sounds like a delicious dish is what it sounds like. No, it isn't. I'm reading further down, and it's payway. Payway. I think that's peewee. They're featuring their Thai mango chicken. They're featuring their Thai mango chicken. Very good. Sounds really yummy. So they are coming in later. It's like a mini version of P.F. Chang's.
What? Yeah, yeah, yeah. They are. They are. They're associated with PF Chang's. Yes! And they're like a fast food version of PF Chang's. Yeah. Which is real good. So good. And they're going to have some $50 gift certificates to give away to P1s as well. That's really cool. Oh, is that not enough for you, Rob? Make sure that you get enough. Okay, well, what's your number? So we'll tell the government. Let the government know. Okay, $50. You handle that. You're my tax man. By the way, P1 Mike, the guy that won P1 Trivia and that's here in the studio, is a published author. And he is a writer for The Fart Man's Guide to Cooking and Cleaning. Oh, the fat man's guide. That's right. That's different than fart. Is it the fart man or the fat man? Oh, okay. Rob, don't worry about it. Fart man's exactly the same thing. Actually, a little better. The fat man's guide to cooking and cleaning. A little different. Yeah. By the way, Rob made the typo on both. I copied and pasted the title. Stop. The fart man's guide, I said. The fat man's guide. And we're looking at the book right now.
That's cool, dude. The Fat Man's Guide to Cooking and Cleaning. And that's very cool. Oh, you bought one? And All Things Domestic. Yeah, he did. That's the name of the book. The Fat Man's Guide to Cooking and Cleaning and All Things Domestic. And it's available all over the place. I got it confused with my book, The Fart Man's Guide. Rob wrote The Fart Man's Guide. That is weird. Also, I want to welcome to the studio P1 Kelly, who lost by one point. It was close. And she is British and she is a nanny. Where is she? Where is she? Let's have you come over to the microphone so we can hear that beautiful British accent. Hello. Tell us how you got the job and how you came here to America. I actually went to school out here for cosmetology, and I babysit a friend of a family. Really? Yes. How long have you been here? Three years in July. Really? Do you have a flat? No, I have a room. Oh. Yeah. Do you call home on your mobile? No, I call home on my phone. On your phone? On your phone. Oh, you're so American now. I tell you, every time we talk, I'm like, it's getting worse, you know? When you eat a sandwich, do you have a crisp? That's right. I have a crisp. You do. I've never heard that one. I've never heard that one. And a chip is a fry. Chips. Right? Chips. Got it. Is Bob your uncle? That's not a thing, Rob. I have questions for you. I have questions for you. Let's do this. I'm going to tell you what we're going to have on the show, and then I'm going to interview you. Yeah.
I'm going to interview the British gal because I think that's interesting. I want to know stuff about how she got here. Okay, so a couple of things to tell you that we have on the show today because it's huge. We're going to have the executive producer of the 48-Hour Mystery. And the 48-Hour Mystery, it's not 48-Hour Mystery, but it's like that. It's like I shouldn't be alive. It's kind of like that kind of deal. Yes. And it's called Live to Tell. And it's a San Diego story. Really incredible. Just real briefly, so if you're making the decision, do I want to hear this? How about this? Final story in a series which will air on the 28th of this month, the month that's going to focus on a family from San Diego whose decision to sail the world takes a life-threatening turn when they hit a reef with her husband pinned under a fallen mast. A mother must choose between saving her husband. Or her four children. Oh, no. Oh, no, Mike. No, I say no to that. An unbelievable yet true tale of physical and emotional rescue. Oh, gosh. Uh-uh. That is awesome. Uh-uh. And so, yeah, the show's called Live to Tell, and we will be doing that today. We're also going to be giving away our big Valentine deal. Oh, yay.
Oops, wrong one. Sorry. No, that's not what I meant. Well, since we already did. Could be a santee. Could be gorgeous, romantic music. So somebody is going to win a dinner for two at Pamplemousse. Nice. Tomorrow for Valentine's Day. Actually, two people are going to be winning. So that's coming up later in the show. And when we come back, I'm going to tell you why people are urging Bill Clinton to cancel or move. A speech he's giving here in San Diego. Why would they do that? I'll tell you next. Psychos. Any psycho women here tonight? Psychos? Psycho? I think it's usually after you have sex with them. That's when they go, you know, before sex. It's okay. Go out with your friends. It's okay. Crap. They'll be at a party. They'll get you at the party. Who is she? My mom. What the hell? She's my mom. A friend who agrees with me. She'll show up. Here I am. Mikey Show at rock1053.com.

When did you call them? Earlier this week. Look at you. You're a good P1, and you've saved money for it. Yeah, they're saving me like $1,500, man. My old company is just railing me on my rates. Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. Weather ride is still looking fairly decent out here. We do have one accident, though, on the southbound 5 ramp to eastbound 94. An overturn here blocking lanes, and that ramp is shut down as emergency crews attend to this one. So you're being advised to avoid that. What you can do is just pass that up, go down to Market Street, just turn back around the northbound 5, and then take the east 94 from there. The rest of our freeways are still pretty nice. One little fender bender being reported, northbound 5 at Pacific Highway. Somebody hit the center of 5 there. Doesn't seem to be affecting your ride too much, though. The border wait, still over an hour at San Ysidro. I'm McLaurin on Rock 105.3.
It's Eddie from The Mikey Show, and American Audio Video has a crazy sale going on this weekend. They're selling all their televisions at cost. Now, if you're not real sure what that means, it means they're not jacking up the prices to make a profit. They're P1s. They listen to The Mikey Show, and they want to help out other P1s, which I think is really cool. So the sale's going on this weekend, and on Saturday, they're giving away a dozen roses to the first 40 customers that show up. Nice little. Valentine's Day gift for you. That's really cool. American Audio Video is a really cool company because they're not... really trying to jack you over. They're not like one of these big box companies who's trying to take advantage of you and trying to get rid of their stock. They will work with you. If you have a certain budget, they'll work with you. And I mean, the fact that they're selling their TVs at cost, it's something unheard of. I've never heard of this going on before. So it's really cool. Go in there, ask for P1 James. Like I said, he's a P1. He wants to help you out. Where's it at? It's at 8920 Kenomar Drive, right off of Miramar Road, right behind that big giant pyramid. It's American Audio Video.
Now, back to Mikey. I text a lot, but I'm the farthest thing from him. Eddie. I gotta tell you, like, the older I get, the more and more I become into, like, history stuff. Sky. Um, you know, your friend's a little sensitive and isn't a big fan of violence. Boston Rob. I watch a lot of Food Network lately, and it's mostly because of you. And Ashley. Like, I love my bangs, and they grow out so freaking fast. Same backflip. I know. Save that clip. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3. Now, with what's up in your world, this is the Mikey Show 360. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Check it out. Check it out. Bill Clinton, scheduled to come to San Diego and speak, right, Skye? Yeah. This Sunday, he is scheduled for a paid appearance at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel. on this Sunday. And so there's some issues. Eddie. Yes. What do you suppose, and we'll get to the issues in just a second, we'll talk about why people are, you know, asking him to not do it. Okay. But what do you suppose the over-under is on a paid Bill Clinton appearance? Wow. Half a million dollars. No way. Half a million dollars. Dude. Dude, let me tell you something.
What a way to make a living. If you could do that, just go around and just talk. You talk once a year, you're good to go. Does anyone know exactly what he talks about? Is it just everything? He's just giving advice? He's probably talking about what's going on in the world right now, what's going on in the country, Obama. By the way, when he does, he has Secret Service. Oh, yeah, of course. Protecting him. Definitely. Let's see. I think I may have found something on it. Okay, got it. Let's see what we each think. Let's see where we would put ourselves here. Rob. I think it is just under, and I think it's about 395,000. 395? Yeah. Sky, what would you put the over under on, on a paid Bill Clinton appearance? I'm going to say 250. Ashley. $1. I'm really thrown off now. I'm going to say $400,000. I have the cost of one of the ones that he did. Okay. $700,000. Oh, my gosh. Holy cow. Oh, my gosh. Does it give the details what that one was? Yeah, like when it was. Holy crap. Yeah, it says... Can you translate that? A company.
Called Akona or Akuna? Akuna Matata. Oh, yeah. Akuna Matata. Akuna Matata. It means no worries. It's a new internet search engine billing itself as a rival to Google. Good thing that's the first time I've ever heard of it. Yeah. Quite a rival. Now. Now, I guess that I'm assuming that this is the thinking behind it. You get a business model, right? And you say that your business is going to be something to go up against the big guy, Google, right? And so you get a loan and I don't know how much your loan is for. Maybe it's for 5 million bucks. Okay. Let's say you're able to get a business loan of $5 million to start this big business. All right. And it's good because it needs to be big. It needs to compete with Google. And so you take 700,000 of that $5 million and you invite. all the investors to come to this big gala that you're going to put on to showcase what you plan on doing, and you bring Bill Clinton there, that makes a pretty big impact on investors, future investors. Maybe that's who you invite, future investors. And you make it beautiful. In fact, you even hire a company for 400 more thousand that makes it look like the inaugural ball.
And then you get this big, beautiful presentation and you're like, we're called a Kuna Matata. You get Timon and Pumbaa. That's right. Now you're talking. Wow. Now I'm in. You know what I'm saying? I don't got that kind of money. Okay, so Sky, tell us, why are they trying to get Bill to cancel his thing here? Well, so I guess the Grand Hyatt, the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel here in San Diego donated $125,000. thousand dollars in support of the proposition eight campaign last year so they put money to get gay marriage banned here in california i could care less but bill clinton you campaigned against prop eight yes guy um i got four words for you okay okay seven hundred thousand So just insert that four-letter word. That's three words. Anything I'm going to cancel that. I won't cancel that ever. But about 2000... Well, that's not the point. I just don't understand why you would campaign against that. Eddie, I would never, ever... I don't know if you know who I'm married to, but I would never...
Wow. Have you seen that video, Bill, that's been going around the internet? Oh my God. You're trying to kiss your wife and she turns away from you and kisses Obama. Are you kidding? Oh, you haven't seen this yet? Oh, dude, I've got this video sent to me like 30 times. Please, please, please. Oh, copy me on that. It's brutal. He goes in to like kiss her. She completely turns away from him and Obama's right there and she kisses Obama. Let me guess. Clinton laughs kind of? No, like he's full on puckered up. Yeah. And then just goes, oh. Oh, wow. I'll be over here. It's crazy, dude. It's crazy. Wow. It's a good one. It's a good one. Dude, that's fantastic. Let's see. Did you IM it or did you send it? No, I got to email it to you. Ah! What's the matter, Steve? My fingers aren't working today. Okay. Are we going to do the big interview? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's interview. Okay, I just sent it to your email account, Mike. Let's interview Kelly. Kelly. Kelly! Kelly lost P1 trivia by a point. She's just one of our P1 listeners. She's a nanny. She works in childcare. And she's 20 years old. And she's British. Okay, so you came out here how long ago? Three years in July.
Three years ago in July, you've got to talk right up to that mic, right into it. There you go. Have you ever been on the radio? No, never. Never have? Nope. And in Britain, isn't there like one big... We have like a big radio station. We have Kiss 100, Heart, like local stations. Who is the guy in Britain that's like the British version of Howard Stern? Well, everyone's mean, so... So everyone. It could be basically anyone. I just remember, I think I told Eddie about this. I remember watching a documentary on Jamie Oliver and he went into the studio with this guy and he prepared food that morning. And the guy takes a bite out of it and throws it in the trash and says, it tastes like bleep. Like you say stuff on the radio we can't say out here. Yeah, you hear a lot of people cursing on the radio, but in England we don't really care. I like that. Okay, so...
You came here three years ago, and how did that happen? What brought that about? Because you're 17 years old. Yeah, I was working in a job, and I kind of got fired. And my aunt offered for me to come live here. There you go, Rob. And she lived out here? My mom's from here. My mom's from Oxnard. Oh, really? Yeah, so my mom's family lives in California, and they offered me to come out. Really? Yeah. And who were you living with out there? I live with my aunt and my uncle right now. No, no, no, no. When you were in Britain. In England, my mom and dad. You lived with your mom and dad? And you got fired. And your mom's sister... Offered to take me in. Why don't you come out here? Why? Was it troubled times at the time? It was just difficult. Like, they weren't sure. I didn't know what I wanted to do. I was 17. And I got offered the opportunity to go to school and have fun. And how many times do you get to come to San Diego to live? Yeah. So she lives in San Diego. She's in Escondido. Now, what was the plan? What were you going to do when you came out here? Well, I had already done a year in cosmetology school, and they have a really good cosmetology plan out here, so I went to cosmetology school. And you completed it? Yeah, I just have to take my exam. So you haven't taken the exam yet. Is that what you want to do? So how did you get into nannying?
It was just a side job. I think all British women are nannies. I mean, aren't they technically nannies? Yes, I mean, it's like written in the rule book. I read that. You must nannies. Yes, you are Mary Poppins. Yeah. And so it just happened, and now you've continued to do it. Yeah. Yeah. How did you meet the boyfriend? For a friend. Do a friend? Yeah. I used to work at the YMCA. Does he play football? Yeah. He's very good at it. Oh. Oh, wow. Oh, no. Was the friend's name MySpace? No. No, it was not. It was not. I'm just wondering. I'm just wondering. MySpace is the new boutique. How many times, Eddie? How many times? Well, congratulations. Congratulations. I think that's fantastic, Kelly. Do you love America? I do, but sometimes Yankee humor gets on top of me. It does? It gets on top of you? You don't get my humor. Yeah, yeah. We don't get it or you don't get it? I get your humor, but sometimes when I'm being really sarcastic, I just give the face. I know. That's the worst. Is she, like, mad? Yeah. We actually run into that, too, even with our humor. But I love British humor. It's so dry and sarcastic, and I think it's hysterical. I love Gordon Ramsay. I do, too. I thought of a funny scene from The Office.
And the British version of The Office is fantastic. I can't watch The American Office because I've seen The English Office, so it's not the same. Yeah. So, yeah, I thought of a scene. Sky, tell me if you think this is funny. Eddie, tell me. All you Office fans on the show. I got a vision of Dwight walking up to Jim and saying, did you delete me from your Facebook? And Jim saying, I don't have you on my Facebook. Wrong. You added me last week. And Jim says, no, I didn't. And he goes, are you implying that an imposter is my only friend? And Jim says, no, I am not. I'm telling you definitively that an imposter is your friend. And then he says, that explains why I haven't heard back from Richard Gere.

First of all, Eddie, thank you for making the trip to Vegas. Listen, talk to us if you can. Tell us about the state of the city, as it were. In other words, how do you think that the folks are reacting to what the mayor... Oh, you're welcome. I'm happy to be here. There's a bit of a delay, so you might hear a little... Mikey's show continues. Rock 105.3. Come on, tomorrow's Valentine's Day. Why don't you send your loved one a little piece of Boston Rob? Well, if you go to MikeyShow.com, you can see the stupid Cupid, and there he is, dressed up all like a Cupid, you know? And he calls himself the stupid Cupid. He sends out little messages of love that you can send to your friends. It's gorgeous. Dude, five. There's five. So you can send all five. They're free. Poetry, songs, jokes. I mean, it's awesome. Dude, they are hysterical. Okay. Eddie. Yeah. You will probably enjoy this story. All right. Apparently, a band is going to get back together. And it is a band that I believe you enjoy.
Okay. And at least you did back in the day. Yeah, you did. You did back in the day. And Skye, who is it? Well, it has been announced that the original lineup, all the original members of... The Banana Splits. This is not the Banana Splits. This is not a band. It is a band. That's a band? Yes. Hello, dude. I'm sorry. Hello. Banana. Anyway, the original members of Limp Biscuits are getting back together and will begin a world tour in the spring. It's not chocolate hot dogs and water. It is not. It is not. I called for this like two days ago. Make her call, bro. It apparently reached their ears. Maybe it was a deal where they just hadn't thought of it. You said it and somebody called and they were like, hey, I just heard this crazy idea on the radio. I don't know what you're going to think about this. And they were like, that's not a bad idea. I love it.
In their statement, they released announcing this. It sounds like the band is really healthy and a lot less dysfunctional before. They said that they decided they were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than they were with each other. Yes, I agree with that. So that sounds healthy. That's a good reason to get together. Okay, question. Eddie, do they come back and sound relevant? Do they have a news? Because they can't come back like that. Oh, man. Here's what's funny. Here's what's funny is that in the 90s, okay, there were some 80s bands that kind of did the same thing. They had a very dated sound that sounded super old. But in the 90s, they tried to come back. Like, the Scorpions was one of them. And the Scorpions were trying to come back during a time when bands like Bush and Nirvana, this mid-90s. Bush was out. Smashing Pumpkins was big. Soundgarden was still real big. And here comes the scorpions trying to make a splash. So I just, I wonder. I don't know how. I don't know how to do it. Because, I mean, it's a definite genre. They were the rap metal thing. And I don't, like, that's gone. It doesn't really exist. And so, like, what do you do now?
I disagree with that. I think the secret is that he's got to pick cool people to mix with. Maybe get Timbaland or someone on his track. And then that'll keep it fresh. Take a note from Linkin Park or something. Yeah. Whatever. No, actually steal a note. Take some of their notes. Take that note. And their lyrics. Yeah, and the lyrics. And just the band members, I guess. Just do that. That way. Now, with the top sports stories of the day, it's the Sports Dirt with Eddie. Well, it's the story that will not die. More people are coming out and talking about A-Rod and all of his controversies. And that is including his manager, his general manager, and the commissioner of baseball. So everybody's got an opinion about A-Rod. Let's hear first from his manager, Joe Girardi. He's doing okay. I mean, obviously, I'm sure he wishes he wasn't in this situation. But I think he's doing okay. He understands it's going to take time. And he wants to prove to the people that, you know, that his career, you know, is going to be a great career. And if you look at the last, you know, five years of testing, obviously Alex has been clean. But, you know, I think it's a chance for Alex to regain trust in people. And that takes time. You know, when you think about it, you go, wow, with the Joe Torre book, that was already not the funnest time.
And then this. It's just been a bad few weeks for A-Rod. And on top of that, it was the whole controversy with Madonna and divorce and cheating on his wife. And A-Rod's taking some major hits. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he should quit. Okay. All right. I don't know about that. Picking people when they're down. I'm giving good advice. Here's the general manager of the Yankees, Brian Cashman, on his thoughts. When you have a big family, you're going to have... You know, a lot of good things you can talk about, but unfortunately there's going to be some very difficult times you're going to have to deal with at the same time, and so, you know, we'll deal with it. And then the commissioner, Bud Sealy, spoke out about it and said that A-Rod has brought shame upon baseball. Oh, man. Oh, man. So, I mean, it is a rough, rough time right now for A-Rod. Why didn't that Looney Tunes hanker... Hal Steinbrenner. Sound enough. I'm sure they will. I'm sure they will. You can't even say his name. You got it. You won't even say his name. Well, there's a couple of them. Two of them, and there's Hank, who's just off his rock. Is that his son? Yeah, he runs the joint. And then there's Hal, the other brother, right? Yeah. And their family is just a little up. I have a legitimate question. I mean this question. Yeah, yeah. Do people really think they're kind of... Yeah, yeah. Because they... He, you know, it's...
You know, it's weird because, you know, the Steinbrenners are, they're very... Eccentric? I got a couple words you can't say. Hey, listen, the guy talking has the word Boston tattooed on his throat. The comments he was making last year before when he, you know, officially took over and stuff were outrageous. Out of control, man. His son? Yeah, Hank. Hank was the one putting the comments out there. This guy's a little nuts. Yeah. You know? I mean, the thing is, is that they're so nuts that they've won. No, I mean, that's just... Since 2000, how many have they won? When did he take over? Why 2000? Why 2000? Because that's the new millennium. They haven't won since 2000? They won in 2001. That was their last world championship? Hmm. Well, maybe he's on to something. Maybe it's the Steinbrenners getting... And all they do is keep... They'll win this year. No, they won't. Have you seen their pitching staff? Well, they're in a weak division, right? CC Sabathia is a choke artist come October. He's in a weak division. I'm sorry. Get out of here. Everybody relax. All right. Let me move on. Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch were the winners of the Daytona Qualifiers.
Gatorade twin duels. Right. Because Daytona is, of course, on Sunday. Big race, obviously. Kyle Busch talks about winning the race and his big battle with Mark Martin. Yeah, no, I mean, I didn't want to wreck. I didn't want to just jump up there because I wasn't sure if he was there or not. So I just kind of kept poking my way up there. And, you know, Dickerson was on my ear telling me that he was up there. You know, come on, come on, come on. Keep coming, keep coming. Just trying to get Mark's momentum kind of stopped a little bit. And then I saw Vickers coming out on my left side mirror, so I was like, oh, I've got to come back down over there. Get that guy. So it was fun out there. Mark had the best car, and he deserved to win that race. And like I said, I would have been more than happy to push him to the win. That would have been pretty cool. I'm friends with all those guys on the five team and stuff. But once Denny got to my rear bumper and gave me a shot, I knew that we had to go. By the way, if you want more on that, Sky was blogging about it this morning. About the race. Well, specifically about Dickerstein. Yeah. She's blogging. And Vagina Stein, too. My goodness. It's a huge weekend for sports. Not only got the Daytona 500, but it's NBA All-Star Weekend, which kicks off tomorrow night with the three-point shootout, slam dunk, horse.
Yes! Horse! Oh, I can't wait. And that's on TNT, and then they got the actual game on Sunday. There it is. Lots of good stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a lot going on. I want to see that. Horse is going to be so sick. Dude, that's... Remember those commercials back in the day with Michael Jordan calling his shot, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, you know, off the room, off the ceiling, blah, blah, blah. Off the building. To see what they're going to come up with is going to be just great. And that's how you do it, right? I mean... Yeah, it's like, it's trick shots, and then they have to duplicate them. Yeah. But I'm nervous because they don't want to look like fools. So I'm wondering how tricky these shots are going to get. Because that's what's happened with the slam dunk competition is that kind of started to suck because guys were afraid to do crazy dunks because they didn't want to look bad if they missed them. But, you know, that's starting to change. For people that didn't hear how horse works, and really for me because I didn't follow it, but I'll pretend that it's for the benefit of people that didn't hear. The listeners. How does horse work? Say me, you, and Sky are playing horse. I'm going to win. You probably will. I'm first. I have to make a basket. Say I do something crazy like I put it around my head and make the basket. You have to duplicate it now. If you're not able to duplicate it, you get a letter. You get an H. How many people play? It'll be three people in this competition. That's what happens if you make it.
If you make it, you don't get a letter. You're fine. So the first person that gets H-O-R-S-E loses. Smells like a horse. It does. It does. In this case, it does. So I think it'll be pretty cool to see these dudes trying to recreate. I would hope so. I get it. I hope they realize that, you know, like, go for it, man. Creativity. Don't do free throws. Like, I want to see something, you know. I bank it. Who are the three guys again, Eddie? It was O.J. Mayo. And I wonder how they choose these dudes. Kevin Durant. And Joe Johnson of the Hawks. And why do you think they chose these guys? They're young. You know, they're kind of exciting players. O.J. Mayo's a rookie. He's kind of like the rookie of the year. I bet they're working on it right now. No question. Absolutely. The second they're working on it. Well, you know, lately with the slam dunk competition, these guys, you know, are like working on it with their teammates and getting costumes and like all kinds of crazy stuff. So, you know, they're putting like thought and planning. That is awesome. And when is it again? That's tomorrow night.
I can't wait. I am all over that. What time? And it's on TNT, I'm guessing. Yeah, it's on TNT. I believe coverage starts at like 2 in the afternoon and goes on for like 3 hours or something like that. 3 or 4 hours. Dude, that's awesome. Yeah, it'll be fun. Did anybody see the fiery object in the sky? And Sky, when was this? Let's see. They said early last night, so around a little bit before 7 o'clock last night, people started reporting this. Now, there was a very particular part of the county that people started to report it. We'll explain a little bit more when we come back. Also, we're going to be talking to the executive producer of 48 Hour Mystery because they have a new show coming out. It's going to be tomorrow night, and it looks really good. It's called Live to Tell. And it's a firsthand account from a couple of people that had a really, really incredible experience. They thought it was going to be they're going to leave San Diego, sail around the world when they hit a reef. And the husband was pinned under a fallen mast. And the mom had to decide between saving her husband or her four kids. Cock-a-doodle-doo? That's supposed to get me out of bed? Yet cock-a-doodle don't work for me. Know what does?
Subway flatbread omelet sandwiches. Western and cheese and double bacon and cheese, each on warm and tasty flatbread. Got a rooster that says that? I'll listen. Try the Subway flatbread omelet sandwiches. And now, top it off with a cup of freshly brewed Seattle's best coffee. Subway, eat fresh. Products may vary. Available from opening to 11 a.m. at participating restaurants. Hold that thought. Hold that thought because I want to explain that BMW Encinitas. is located on Encinitas Boulevard between the 5 and El Camino Real. And to illustrate this, to illustrate this point and really drive this point home, I'm bringing in Mr. Neil Diamond. First of all, I want to say thank you. Thank you to my crummy manager, Maury, who embezzled thousands of dollars. I won't say that. BMW Encinitas. No big surprise.
Since I've known about Maury's lies. Wait. Maury, I know what you did. And I think I'm probably going to take you to court and sue your pants off. Behold, what does this have to do with the... Those are some big pants, Eddie. That's not... That's rude. 55-inch waist, aren't they, Maury? Stop it. Get off your Blackberry. Stop trying to pretend you can't hear me. Fuck you. Talking about BMW and Cine days. And they better give me some dough. Oh. Because I'm talking to you. My chubby manager over there. Who took everything from me, didn't he? Well. Come on, Eddie. I don't believe that's you. Sing it with me. Well, I don't know what you're going to say. I'm going to say something like this. Okay. BMW Incident. The best dealership. My veins are popping out of my neck. To try to tell you this. Sometimes I think you just say stuff. I don't think you're right, Eddie. I don't think you're right, Eddie. This isn't a song. I want to save.
You've got to drive 25 minutes. Oh. Just about anywhere in the county. Now you're just singing copy points. That's true, Eddie. Okay, well, come on. That's true, Eve. It's the truth. Just ask the fat dude over there. It's wearing the velvet bowling jacket that someone gave him to him as a Christmas present back in 1984. Do you notice, Maury, that that's two sizes too small? Jerk. For five days in March. Right here in San Diego, behind every pitch. Nice game after Zach for Team Japan with the windup. Behind every swing. Here's the 3-2 to Adrian Gonzalez. Behind every catch. The Mikey Show continues. Featuring Mikey. I love documentaries. Eddie. I like to do what I like to do. I don't care really how I look anymore. I'm just like, whatever. Sky. I love award shows. I love the OC. I love 90210. You know, so when it comes to pop culture, it's my like one last bit of youth. Boston Rob. I'm the ultimate recycling machine. It's pretty garbage disposal. It's true. I support sweat everywhere I go. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3. Don't stop. Welcome back. It's the Mikey Show. And in a little bit, we're going to be giving somebody that gift certificate to Pample Moose. So a couple people are going to be very, very happy about that. Eddie was really into this. I'm really into this. I got swagger. I loved it. That's your swagger? Dude. Well, yeah. That swagger is weird.
Well, at times, it was almost like trance. Yeah. You know? Yeah, yeah. At times, it was like trance. I just feel the music. Okay. That's weird. It was really incredible. You're welcome. Time to switch gears. Okay, you guys are going to love this. You guys are going to love this. This is going to be good. There's a TV show called Live to Tell. Now, you guys have seen 48 Hour Mystery. 48 Hour Mystery is a great show. Live to Tell is going to be tomorrow night on CBS. This show is dealing with a situation that happened right here in San Diego. This is Susan Zerinsky, and she's the executive producer of 48 Hour Mystery. And did you produce this piece, Susan? Hey, guys. Well, I actually would be the chief banana. There are three live to tell. The third one is actually about the family from San Diego. The first two are different stories, but equally as wild. But these are all stories.
about people that should be dead. Quite frankly, I mean, you've got people hunted, shot, terrorized by man, fate, and they refuse to go down. These are like survivor stories of like where to sit in the bus if it goes off the cliff. These are unbelievable people who life dealt them an unplanned deck of cards and really they pulled through. These are unbelievable stories of guts and grit and sometimes an unexpected sliver of luck. which really make the difference. Susan, where do you guys find these stories? Well, you know, now having been in the kind of crime genre for a while, we've got this incredible, I mean, we of course are online, we're reading local newspapers, we're talking to attorneys all over the country, but people actually bring us things that we then take a look at. With these stories, the difference is this is how we tell these stories. There is no filter. There is no correspondent. And believe me, you need reporters in journalism. But with these kind of stories, with the live to tell, they're so unique that you, the person that experienced it, ends up telling their story. And we use kind of a unique style where they are looking directly into the camera. So you have this intimacy of this climactic deal. Like the family in San Diego.
which will happen in about two weeks, they had this unbelievable father who decided years and years he wanted to take the family on a boat all over the world. And there were a lot of kids. There were four kids. And everybody wanted to live the father's dream. Well, this thing started to fall apart because it wasn't their dream. And it was tough. These kids were teenagers. Some of them were really young kids. And so this thing fell apart before anything bad happened. And then they had a crisis and they hit a reef. And there were life and death decisions to be made. And it's pretty remarkable. Can I ask you? Now, let me ask you, Susan, because I know that there's there's some things that I can't ask because we can't give away great stuff. I'll stop you. I'll stop you. You can ask me anything. And I just, you know, you'll let me know. I'll take you to the edge and let you fall off the cliff. Tell me if you can answer this one. When they hit the reef. How stranded were they? How far off of any kind of land? Oh, let me tell you something. They were dead. They were dead. Here's the modern technology that actually becomes so critical. They had a beacon, and that beacon is attached to a satellite. And when that beacon gets set off, the Coast Guard in San Diego ends up getting a distress signal. So it is the ultimate...
in high tech that saved their lives. Oh, my God. That family is dead. Dead to right. Wow. Here is the description that I have of this. The description that is being given by CBS says... Probably written by me. It's probably written by me. You can hear how great this description is. Yeah, it's good. I'm sure it's going to be the best description ever. A family from San Diego decides to sail the world. And it takes a life-threatening turn when they hit a reef. With her husband pinned under a fallen mast, a mother must choose between saving her husband or her four children. Yeah, that was mine. Oh, wow. I'm sucked in. You like that? I'm sucked in. Here's the interesting thing. This man had demons in his life that he had overcome. And when the family starts to kind of fall apart prior to the hitting of the reef... He has to deal with those demons. And so this isn't just the story of a family who hits a reef and they're in a disaster and the boat is sinking and the father is like, you know, does he live or does he not live? He was dealing with some pretty personal demons prior to anything going down. So this family was falling apart. So when this accident happens, they are tested.
Unlike anything that you or I do. I mean, the first story which airs this Saturday is, I mean, it's a story told by somebody who's now grown up. But when she was nine, she says to us right into the camera, imagine being nine and knowing that someone wants to kill you, your dad, your brothers, and your mom. Her name is Celine Busby. So she was a little girl. They've only now come to grips with having to tell the story. Father was a cop. refused to be intimidated by this family who had unbelievable power in Massachusetts, in Falmouth, Mass. The guy was suspected of three murders. And they, John Busby, is going to bring this guy to justice. They shoot him to try to kill him. The family then is totally under the threat because they know they will kill this whole family. And the family ends up having to run for their lives. So Lynn, now grown up, tells this unbelievable story. of revenge and justice that you couldn't predict. Let me tell you something, Susan. Let me tell you something. These are so great. These are one of those deals where you're watching it and you decide, I got to tape this because it's so good. You tape it and then if your wife is ever going through and deleting old stuff, you go, don't get rid of that.
Don't get rid of that one. Don't get rid of that one. Yeah, listen, I now live to tell about ratings from DVR playbacks. I mean, you know, talk about live to tell. I can tell you about live to tell. Hey, do you guys get credit if people watch it over and over again? No, unfortunately, Nielsen only does a one-stop shop. But, you know, perhaps that's a new thing we can ask for on them. I'm suggesting people watch it, tape it, and watch it again because they're not going to. These are great. You don't want to get rid of them. They're so good. I think you know what it is. It's like people. who are experiencing real-life drama. You know, I always say to my bosses, don't talk to me about reality. We do reality TV. You know, Dancing with the Stars is great bodies and cool shoes, but you want something that's compelling and dramatic. You can't do it any better. Really, I feel really excited about this kind of limited-run series. The 48 Hours viewer will feel very much at home because of the kind of sense of drama. But the storytelling of somebody looking in that camera and giving you that intimate detail, it's really like it's riveting. It's like you can't stop watching. Listen, the reason that we have Susan on is because I am so...
Such a fan of these types of stories and such a fan of this type of television, compelling television that you can't take your eyes off. Eddie has a question. Yeah, is there a chance that this will become like a regular series? Eddie, from your lips to God's ears. Absolutely. Yeah, me too. Me too. You can give me his email too. I wouldn't mind giving him a right. do it for that reason but it was something interesting and quite frankly you know creatively it's it's interesting for us look the the truth is is i couldn't live without correspondence and our our ace team of reporters in the field because they're they are the bomb they're just they're so strong they're really good writers but for something unique like this you actually can have people tell their own stories i don't have to confront them they believe me they've confronted the demons and um I just, you know, sometimes a slice of something that is, it's like you order the same thing at a restaurant, and one day you try to order something that's similar, and then you think, wow, I never tried that before. I'm going to go back and try that again. Susan. Maybe we're birthing some new baby, Scarlett. Could be. It's a firsthand account of something that I hope I would never have to be in. Oh, yeah. But you know the one takeaway is, when people see stories like this, it's empowering.
We're living in times that are like beyond challenging. So if you see somebody that has some unbelievable crisis and they are tested and they step up to the plate, you know, maybe the thing in your own life isn't quite as bad. You think, you know what? These are normal people. These weren't people trained to go through something like this, but they did it. And every single one of them has a kind of afterlife, if you will, that is really quite powerful. So I think it's empowering. Thank you. Hey, listen, I appreciate you coming on, and it's very interesting, and I can't wait to see the show. It's Live to Tell. It's tomorrow night on CBS. And thank you, Susan, for coming on and telling us about it. And thanks for letting me hear swagger like this, because I love that. She's got swagger. So I'm totally into this. You got it. Thanks, Susan. We appreciate it. She's so gangster. That's right. Wait till I tell you, and strap that seatbelt on. All right. Oh, boy. Wait till I tell you what they found in a Texas peanut plant. Oh, no. More? Like, more. More. Wait till I tell you it's next. Shut up. All of you, please. Shut up. San Diego's Rock. That's tough as always from the 78 down to Via Rancho Parkway. Looks great though past Lake Hodges.
But no worries on the shoreline in South 5. East County and South Bay Rises are moving right along here. Border waits but an hour at San Ysidro. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. P1 Sanjaya. What's going on, Mikey? What's going on, dude? You went to sleep train? I went out to sleep train and bought myself a mattress finally. When did you do it? I went this Sunday, actually. Cool. What did you get? Yeah, I got a beauty rest, a comfort classic. Did they deliver it Sunday, Monday, or when? Sunday when I told them to because I was moving that day. Really? It worked out perfect. That's pretty awesome. And did they take your... Well, wait a minute. If you were moving, did they have to take your set or did you get rid of it yourself? No, I got rid of it myself. So they bring the new one in. Did they set it up for you? They set it up for me within like five minutes. And how did it feel that first night? Just like being in heaven. That's awesome, man. That's awesome, dude. That's awesome. Yeah, I tell people about Sleepton. Did they give you a good price? Oh, yeah, dude. I went in there after the promotion about getting everything for free. And the dude's still doing everything for free. And after I told him that Mikey sent me personally, he knocked off $700. That's awesome. Yeah. All right, brother. Thank you, Sanjaya. All right, dude. Talk to you later, man. Sleep change your ticket to a better night's sleep.
Back to Mikey. When I was a kid, no supervision. I just, I wasn't supervised and I was free to watch whatever I wanted. Eddie. Yes, Mike, I have a gambling problem. No. Sky. I mean, we all know internally. Boston Rob. I'm a catch. Come on, Mike. And Ash. Mikey's show is 5-3. Now, with what's up in your world, this is the Mikey Show 360. Well... First things first, because I didn't get to, we didn't really get to get into the, you know, the thing in the sky, the object in the sky that people saw in what part of San Diego County it was seen in. And I also, right after that, we're going to tell you in just a few moments, we're going to tell you about this Texas peanut plant and get ready to be grossed out and it ain't good. First though, Sky.
The object in the sky. Well, obviously it was a UFO. So weather balloon. I'm just putting it out there before we start. Obviously aliens, so I mean, you know. Anyway. I've seen some stuff like that, Sky. Well, didn't Shinedown say there was like Haley's Common? Yeah, yeah. I've heard that. Haley's Common. Yeah, exactly. Maybe that was it. That's what they said. They foresaw what was going to happen. I knew it was coming. Yeah. So this was in the south part of the county last night, a little bit before 7 o'clock. The police started to get some calls. The first call came in. She needs to ban the police. Oh. No, no way. I don't know what it is. Get down here, Stuart Townsend. Give me your help. It started about 6.40 last night when a guy in Chula Vista called the police saying that he thought maybe something was falling off. a plane and it was like in flames and he said it was falling towards the otai reservoir and then a few minutes later they got a call from another person in the south bay also saying that something out to the east was on fire in the sky
Okay, wait a second. And then a man from Tijuana, I guess, contacted the Union Tribune and said that he saw something on fire in the sky, and he said it looked like it was almost kind of dancing in the sky, and then suddenly it was gone. Get out of here. Yeah, and so sheriffs, they sent a helicopter crew out to the Otay Reservoir area and searched out there for about 45 minutes and didn't find anything. Wow. And didn't find anything. And the FAA said that they had no reports of any aircrafts, missing, mishaps, equipment failures, nothing. Mike, I know it. What is it? I don't know. Miramar said that they had no reports of anything unusual. Nobody took a picture of this thing? I don't know. There's no video? Come on. I don't know, you guys. We'll have to reenact it.
The only thing that seemed a little bit suspicious about the whole story is how could such a large burning object fly through the sky without anybody actually capturing it on tape or film? Was it the crashing satellites? It could have been the crashing satellites, but I think more people were wondering were aliens. Thank you. Somebody needed to say it. I don't like this. Dude, that's a creepy story, but you're going to have to decide which is creepier. flying object in the South Bay here in San Diego, or what they just found in a Texas...
peanut plant yeah now this plant in texas is from the same company the peanut corporation of america that has had all the salmonella stuff in georgia are you kidding this is a separate plant in texas that does still does stuff with peanuts but it's kind of separate they do like oil roasted peanuts dry roasted peanuts they don't do the peanut butter like the georgia plant does but it's the same company oh okay okay how do they not instantly, once the first thing happens, go, hey, we've got to hire a cleaning crew. Yeah, let's check out all of our plants. What did they find? Sky what? Well, the Texas Department of Health Services went in there, so let's take a little look-see, see what we've got going on here in this plant, and found dead rodents. Okay. Well, then... Feathers, bird feathers, and rodent excrement. Okay. Okay. Yes. So... And... Chunky peanut butter. A lot of this stuff in a crawl space near the plant's ventilation system. So it was getting pulled into the ventilation system. Shut them down. Shut them down. Shut them down.
Tests are being done right now to see if any of the products had salmonella or other disease-causing organisms in them. Those tests aren't back yet, but they're doing those tests. That's awful. As of now, the plant is shut down. Look at that Hanta virus, Mike. Yeah, hello. Look at the Hanta virus. Yeah, that is crazy, dude. That's gross. That's foul. Yeah. Figure it out. Filthy. By the way, went to the doctor about this sinus stuff. Oh, yeah? Yesterday? Yeah. And your fever. I went yesterday. And my temperature was below normal. Oh, okay. So you didn't have a fever. So then you're fine. No, even though I'm sweating bullets. Right. I'm in there sweating, okay? Yeah. No, that's still a temperature. It's a subnormal temperature. It's a subnormal. I have a subnormal. I get that a lot when I'm ill. You do? Or else my digital thermometer's broken. One or the other. But I feel you. But I feel you. It may be broken. I feel you. Might be broken. Yeah. But I dot, dot, dot. Ah, 67.6. Perfect. So he thinks that, you know, I might really have to have this surgery to correct it. He says it could be a fungus that just isn't going away that's in my sinuses. Is your nose owned by the Planet Corporation of America? There's a dead rodent in there, Mike. Dude.
I feel like, you know, somebody's playing horse inside my nose. Inside my face. Smells like horse. Dude, it does and it hurts. Oh, no. That's not good. I keep knocking on my face like you knock on a door. What are you saying? Because it hurts and the knocking sort of relieves it. Are you kidding yourself again? Stop that. Stop kidding yourself. Stop kidding yourself. Stop it. Okay, that is weird. Oh, man. Hit the surgery. If you hit your pressure points, that'll always help, too. And I'm telling you, I am... All right, fine. Okay, Mom. I am... You know, I keep... Everybody tells me the same thing. Use the neti pot. Use the neti pot. I've used it. I actually get worse when I use the neti pot. And yes, I'm using it correctly. I am using it correctly. You're probably not using it correctly. Eddie, I'm telling you. That's my guess. That's why I said, you know, I am. I doubt it. Maybe if people email you like the correct way. Don't. You know what you're doing. That is a great suggestion. Good call, Ashley. Oh, no. Well, so what's the deal? When are you going to make your mind up on this bad boy? I don't know. I don't know. You got to figure it out, Mike. I don't know. How many years, bro?
Well, listen, I must be assured that by getting the surgery, I don't have any more infections and that I don't have to use Claritin. I'm using a cocktail of four different weapons against this thing right now. Oh, that's bad. That's what he prescribed me. Two more things. It's just, it's nuts. It's like a smoothie. Yeah, it's like a medical smoothie. No, I don't think it is. It's like a medical smoothie that they're prescribing. Yeah. Okay. So, okay. A couple of things. Some big stuff. Everybody's calling about it. Neti pot. Everybody's calling about the neti pot. Oh, somebody's calling about the object in the sky, too. P1 face plant. Yeah. You saw the object in the sky? Yeah, I did. And? It was a MetLife blimp. The one that lights up. Really? The MetLife blimp? Why would it be going over San Diego on last night? Yes, it was. It was actually going right next to the border, too. I was down in IB working. Are you a ham joke waiting to happen? Is that what's going to happen here? What's the deal? Is there a joke coming? Yeah, why would it be? And why would people think it's on fire? Yeah. That's a big difference. It kind of looked like it was on fire because they have that motion picture on the side and it flashes like it's on fire. Huh. Maybe. When you see it sideways, it actually looks.
That doesn't look like a blimp. It looks like something on fire. Yeah, I don't either from the side view, but when you see me straight on, you know, you're like, oh, now he does. Now he does. All right, thank you, P1 Faceplant. P1 Jennifer, what's going on? Jennifer, are you there? Hello? If you'd like to make a call, please. Let's see. That's weird. There was a woman, speaking of IB, there was a woman shot in the stomach in IB with her own gun. What? Butter gun. No, not a butter gun. Not a butter gun. This was a little bit before noon yesterday, and I guess this woman was at home. Her man was at work and her apartment on Elder Avenue in IB, and she heard something in the apartment, and it was enough to startle her enough to get up and get her gun before she went to, like, check it out. I guess to have a gun in the house.
And you're going to play it for everything else. Go ahead. So she hears something in the apartment and she gets her gun to go check it out. And she goes into, you know, her family room or whatever. And there's some dude in there like unplugging all her entertainment system equipment. Oh, wow. That's nice. Yeah. And somehow there was a scuffle between the two of them. Shoot him. She had the gun, but somehow she ended up getting shot in the stomach. I've seen that happen on TV. I do. And then you're not sure who got shot until the person drops. That's right. The gun goes off and you're like... And you see the faces. Who got shot? This is why they always warn people. They say, hey, listen, if you're going to be a gun owner and you get into a scuffle like that, they say a lot of times those shootings happen to the... They wrestle the gun away from you. You got to point it the other way. That's correct. I'm going to write that down. And it probably takes nerves of steel to be able to...
Use it in a protection situation, you know? So by the time police got there, obviously the dude was gone, but they say luckily the woman's injuries aren't life-threatening. Mm-hmm. Crazy. So, yeah, there it is. A couple of other things to tell you about. Apparently, the OzFest tour has been scrapped for 2009. Oh, no! This economy, man, probably costs a lot to put that sucker on. That's right. Yeah, well, last year, because, you know, OzFest has been going on for, like, a decade now. And, you know, it's a huge summer tour. But last year, they just made it into, like, a one-day event that I think was in Texas. They just did, like, one big show in Texas. Yeah, it was great, okay. You guys were there? Yeah, that's right. Of course. Yeah. We stayed in a limousine. It was a Hummer. And it was big enough to house both me and Woodsy here. Yeah, dude. We were planning on going to check out Little Feet. That was great. Let's go to Ozfest. Why don't we do that instead? Get Big Fat Paul and be like, let's do this, dude. Let's do it right. Hey, Paul, make it real right. Let's do this. Let's get the band back together. Are you talking about Mikey when you say Kios? Yeah, Mikey Kios. His name is just Mikey. I've seen his email.
Kia. No, his name's just Mikey. Oh, I just realized what I said. Oh, for goodness sake. Oh, well, for goodness sake. Somebody said something bad. Sorry about that. Where'd you read it? They.com. They.com. Let me tell you. Amco is da bomb yo. And I'm going to tell you why. Because they are very fair. Let's do this. I just hit a random one because I had already forgot. But we were playing the DMV. No, no, no, no. We're playing. We're doing a little equal opportunity here, Sky. Eddie, what is this? I like the drums. Called the yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, by the way, thank you to Payway Asian Diner. It's real good, right? Oh, it's so good, Mike. The Thai mango chicken. This is the first time I've ever had their food. It is super good. It's money. Dude, check out what Payway's doing for P1s because they love...
I love it when the places come in and they're just in love with the Mikey show. They just love the show and they want to, like, spread the love with P1s. They are offering, and this is a true statement, Payway is offering 50% off their Thai mango chicken, same stuff that we're having right now. So good. And all you have to do is say that you're a P1. That's huge. And you get 50% off. Wow. That's awesome. So that's happening today? Yeah. But it's... Only for Mikey Show listeners. Now, I know they have a location in Mission Valley at Mission Valley Mall. And, Scott, you said there's one in San Marcos? Yeah, there's one in San Marcos. And I've driven by there, but I haven't been in there yet. I was telling the guys because it's new. It, like, just opened up a little while ago. It's in that new shopping center, Mike, on Las Posis. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, there's one in there that opened up. Is there really? Yeah, yeah. There's a payway in there. So, I'm going to sell North County P1s. Get on it. 50% off.
What up? How rad is that? Just go in there and tell them you're a P1 and say, can I get that Thai mango chicken for half price? Thank you. Thank you. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, Mission Valley, Encinitas. So, Payway's good. They taste real good. Okay. Let's meet, well, a couple things. A couple things. All right. First of all, the nude picture of Madonna. Stop it. The nude picture of Madonna sold for... Tell us about this picture and why it's in the news, Sky. Well, it was taken of Madonna when she was 20 years old. I guess Madonna was in New York and she was struggling... I'm ignoring it, Mike. I'm actually just ignoring it. Yeah, Madonna was 20 years old and she was in New York struggling as a dancer and singer and really needed money and there was an ad. Asking for nude models, she made $25 for her time taking this picture. Wasn't this news? Didn't we already... Penthouse, they ran a bunch of pictures of Madonna nude, I think in that same era. Way back in the day, though. That was like in the 90s. So how much did this picture sell for? Well, Christie's Auction House got a hold of the original photo and auctioned it off for...
$37,500. My, my. The thing about these pictures is, first of all, she doesn't look like Madonna. She was like a brunette. Well, she's naturally brunette. She's very Italian. And the other thing was, she had these crazy hairy armpits. Oh, okay. And so their pictures are gross. To you. Yes. Maybe some people like hairy armpits. Wait, Skye? Why are you saying that? Why are you saying that and why are you saying it like that? No, I'm just, there's nothing like behind that. There was just, you know, a time where... No, yes, there was. You shave your armpits, right? Yeah, when it's necessary. Skye? What is that? You mean when you're doing like, you know, weightlifting? What are you talking about? No, if I'm going to wear a tank top, I'll shave my armpits. How long will you go without shaving your armpits? No, no. I need to know this question. I need to know this question. Because what? Because every day I have to because I can't even have a little bit. How long has it been? Get that smile off your face. I know how fast girl armpit hair grows. Oh, this is grossing me out just talking about it. Oh, you grow up, lady. Come on. How long will you wait? Well, the last time I did was two days ago.
But prior to that, it was probably like I went a week. It was cold out. I was wearing sweatshirts. She needed the fur. Skye, show me with your hands, like how much does that grow out in a week? What do we have? It's not that bad. It's maybe like... Ew! What? That's like what? Like a fourth of an inch? What are you from Europe? Come on. What? What's the problem? Your husband must be so just in love with him. He is. He is. That's why she said some people might. No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying if I know we're going to be intimate, I'll obviously take the time to clean myself up. Go out and rent a lawnmower. But if I'm not wearing a tank top and there's no intimacy going to be happening. What if it just happens? Well, then I keep my arms down. I think the best way to describe my pits is I just set the razor at the number four. And, you know, it's like a beard trimmer. Oh, so gross. But that's not the point of this. When Madonna took these pictures, it was a different time. And that's my point. Thank you very much. Okay. Well, good point. Thank you. You are delightful. I think we should move on, though. Two days, you say? What? Two days last time? Two days ago. May I have a look? Let's take a look. Whoa. Come over here. How are you going to? Come on.
Come on over, and then we're going to meet Jamie. That is so awkward. I'm sorry, Jamie. We'll see what Jamie thinks about all this. Oh, this is ridiculous. Yeah, this is some advice for you. Shave your pants, lady. Can you turn the light on? Come on. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. What? I'm just scared of what we're about to say. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Well, that's not bad. No, that's not too bad. Just a little stubble. That's just a little stubble. Now, I will tell you this. I will tell you this. It's just a little stubble, but I will tell you this. That's two days. I want to give that thing five more days and see what happens. No, you don't, Mike. No, you don't, Mike. No, you don't, Mike. Well, this is a great segue. Yes. This is a great segue into talking to Jamie Thompson. Who is, she's got a website called jamielovesyou.com. And you started a company called Success Coach Technologies. Where she became certified as a success coach and hypnotherapist. Is that correct? Yes. But I didn't start that company. I actually studied with them. You studied with them. My company is Jamie Loves You. Jamie Loves You. Okay, now.
Tell everybody, what is your title? What would your title be? Well, you know, I went to UCSD and got a degree in dating coaching. Really? No. I was going to say, I don't know. It sounds more like a San Diego State class. Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! No, I, yeah, I would call myself a, you know, a dating coach or a life coach. It's kind of in the whole new world. You know, there's a whole new thing about that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so how does one, like, what are the qualifications in order to be, you know, because obviously it's not a class. You don't take a class on it. How do you, how do you get to be a dating expert? And would you call yourself a dating expert? Yeah, you know. For some reason, I don't like the term expert because I think everybody's so different that, you know, I don't, I stray away from giving advice and more just work with people on, you know, kind of like their internal belief systems and, you know, just how they're interacting with the world, I suppose. I would like to know on just a very practical level, if you go to jamielovesyou.com, okay, you're going there because you're looking for advice? Is that how it would work?
Yeah, a lot of times people go there looking for advice because it's like everyone wants the answer to the question. But it's not that easy, right? You know, I mean, I work with men mainly. And, you know, as you probably know, it's like this, I want a question and an answer. And women aren't that simple, right? You know, it's like there's a lot of stuff involved. And so I end up working with people on a lot of their... But you'll work with both. Yeah, I will. I will. Ashley, ask questions. It's a good opportunity. I think this might be a good opportunity because Ashley is single and maybe she could get some advice from me. She's unlucky in love. It's like that old adage, lonely. That is not an adage and she is not lonely. Anyway. I'm sorry. Oh, Jamie, I am so sorry for Sky's behavior today. I don't know what's gotten into her. I don't know what's gotten into her. She's a mess. So, Jamie, Jamie, tell me. What are, what would you call your qualifications? In other words, if somebody said to you, okay, I kind of want to go to jamielovesyou.com and ask for some advice, but what does Jamie know? So tell us, what does Jamie know? Well.
You mentioned success coach technologies earlier. I did a lot of work with them. I've done several workshops, seminars, boot camps, things like that. That's where I got certified as a life coach, which, you know, that's kind of a funny certification. You have to be certified to be a life coach? Well, you could lie. Fair enough. Because that is a real job title, right? Yeah, it really is. Yeah, that's cool. And, you know, and I also, I've done a lot of training. recently doing some training in LA, working with people and like, um, we videotape people and it's, and we learn how to like kind of uncover their unconscious belief systems because when people are talking, you can kind of like cover up stuff. But if you're just watching someone and you learn to pick it out, I'll tell you, definitely not you. I do. I tell you everything. You ask me a question. I give you the answer. It's, uh, Creepy. But Jamie's in here right now, and she's got a website called jamielovesyou.com. And I would like to perform an experiment, but if you don't want to, it's totally cool. I thought, how fun would it be? Because I am always Mr. Advice Giver here on the show. I thought, how fun would it be if somebody calls in, they ask for advice, and we both give them our perspective. And then people can go, hmm, that's kind of cool. I'm getting two different perspectives.
Totally up to you. No, that sounds like fun. Is that fun? Okay, cool. Okay, so we'll do that in a second. Actually, call. If you want to ask for advice, call 570-1053 and we'll get to ask some questions. Ashley, start calling. Ashley, come on, Ashley. You've got to have some question that you can ask to Jamie to get advice on relationships. Sure. Let's see. What do you believe is the solution? to trying to fix a guy that you feel is commitophobic? That's a good question. I think a lot of women would want to know that. That's a good one. Thanks, Spike. Leave. Really? Very simple. Yeah. I like that. You're not going to change anybody. Yeah. You know, it's just no one's going to change unless they want to. Yeah, I agree. So your dude isn't committing and you want to be committed. You just say, all right, then forget it.
then he'll know what it's like to be without you and maybe he'll want to commit. I agree. And if he doesn't, then he's not interested. And he wasn't worth it anyway. He's just not that into you. He's just not that into you. Jamie, how about your experience? Are you married? Do you have a boyfriend? Good question. Where are you in that? I have had, I mean, I recently had a long-term boyfriend. We broke up recently. Now I'm single. I like both. I prefer to be single right now. Not to dive too much into personal life. But go ahead. I can. We're all wondering. Well, the reason is because she's a love coach. And she just got out of a relationship. And she's hot. Was it a situation, Jamie, where you were taking your own advice? Or did he do it? What happened? Well, we'll just bring in a whole other variable. He's also a dating coach. Oh, that is insane. Wow. I'll tell you what. Now, that is very interesting. What a trip. Yeah, it really was. So what happened? Well, you know, we were together for about nine or ten months. And one day it was just like we got it. You know, we kind of like used our work on ourself. And we're like, you know what? Like this just isn't right anymore.
And it was kind of like a mutual decision. You hired him as a client. He hired you as a client. And you suggested that he break up with the girl he was dating. And then he did the same thing. I wish I could give you like a dramatic thing, but it was actually really, if I could bottle a breakup and sell it, this would be the one. I'd make millions. Like if I could bottle this breakup and sell it to people. Question. It'd be amazing. When you broke up, did you go through what many of us go through, which is, man, I miss him. Yes. You did. Of course. How long did it last? Um, two weeks. That's it. She's not being honest. Wow. I could see it. Are you sure? No, she's not biting her finger. I was, I was upset for two weeks and then, you know, literally like upset. Like, you know, every night it was rough. How long ago was this? Um, this was three months ago. So you're still missing. Yeah, definitely. We're actually really good friends right now. We still work together. That's awesome. Yeah. How about you? Does he tell you, does he tell you any of these feelings? Like, Hey, you know, did you? Yeah. Yeah. He's really honest. Yeah, we're really honest. He wants you back, huh? Yeah. He's a comitophobic. He is comitophobic. I hope he's not hearing that. It's just us. Maybe he needs to hear that. It's just us. Yeah, yeah. I mean, and he knows, like, you know. You're young. You are, I'm going to say you, I can guess it. Uh-oh. I'll tell you exactly how I'm going. Nail it on the head. She is 26. She's 26 or 25. 23. 22. 22? That is why you don't do that with women. Well, she's in the business. What's up?
It's not a bad thing. She looks very mature and, like, business suited. She's very pulled together, yeah. This ain't an, hey, this, let me tell you. Yeah, that's not an insult. Yeah, this isn't an insult. She looks very professional. Everyone says that. You know, I was going to say, you know, because she's very professional looking. Okay, question, Jamie. We're going to get a few people here on the phone that want to ask for advice. And it's relationship advice, right? I love this. It's relationship advice. Yeah, relationship, dating. Maybe Jamie could be, you know, a semi-regular thing. You're here in San Diego, right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd love to. Let's see. P1 Britt is on the line. Hi, Britt. Hi. What's your question for our love guru? I don't know. I hate that word. What should we call you? For our life coach. Dating coach. Dating coach. Friend. I don't know. Yeah, our buddy. Our buddy Jamie. Yeah, the Norv Turner of dating. That's right. That's right. Yeah. My question is, my boyfriend and I recently were talking about the future. and we both wanted a future with each other but decided to take a break because we couldn't quite figure out the details because he was only supposed to be here for a year, and that's kind of changing. And so I don't know if the break is really going to help us or it was just kind of like a cop-out so that he didn't have to deal with it. What do you think? Are you there? Yes, she's there. Did you hear the question?
Did you hear the question, Britt? What? Did you hear the question? No, I didn't hear the question. She said, what do you think? I personally think that, yeah, he needed the break because there was too much. There was, your phone is breaking up. There was too much what? Oh, no. Come on. What? We couldn't, your phone is breaking up, but I'm going to try one more time. You were right about to say something and we lost you. Are you there, Britt? Call back, Britt. Call us back, Britt, because that was a great one. Yeah. She's going into a bad... Yeah, please. She's in a bad cell area. All right. Well, let's try this again. Okay. And this time, you know, Jamie, our love coach, is going to give advice and we'll see if it's any different than mine. Okay. I think that'll just be fun because I love this stuff too. Like, it's really fun for me and I really enjoy it.
Okay. P1 Kathy is on the line. Kathy, are you there? Yeah, I am. Hi, Mikey. How are you doing? Hi, I'm doing good. How about you? I'm good. You got a question for our love coach. Yes, I do. Jamie, this isn't about myself. My youngest son is a senior in high school. He's been going out with this lovely girl for two years. And she broke up, and then she made a mistake, and she says, oh, please take me back. And so he says, hey, why don't we just be friends? I guess because my older son is 33. He says, hey, you've got to be a player. You've got to sow your oats. And my husband said, you know, let him do what he wants. Well, his girlfriend came over to my house more than once crying. She follows him around school to his classes when he tries to talk to a girl. She'll be right there. He goes surfing with his friends. She invites herself, even if she sits on the beach for four hours. She invited herself to dinner last night. And I feel bad. I was, you know, girls, I was in that position before. And he says, now the hottest girl in a senior class wants to go out with him on Valentine's Day. And I said, I go, God, Jonathan.
You've been with this girl for almost two years. She wants to see you, even if you're a friend. You know, can't you just be with her? So he says, I don't know what to do. So that's what I think. You know, I... Are you on a treadmill right now, Kathy? Huh? Are you on a treadmill right now? I walk every morning, Mike. Okay, I got it. So she's speed walking and telling this story. That's fantastic. That's awesome. I've been listening to you since you've been in San Diego. I'm the ex-helicopter mom. There you go. Oh, yeah. But I'm not getting involved in this. That's in your opinion. All right, so let's go to our love coach. Let's go to our love coach, Jamie, who's got a website, jamielovesyou.com. Jamie, what do you think? Well, what I would say, Kathy, is generally when someone has that kind of like... I don't want to say this to be mean, but, like, kind of stalker mentality about something. Like, it's like she's still obsessed with him. There's probably something that is, like, very incomplete for her. Like, and so what I would say. You can't live without him. Yeah, totally. So the way that he could make a difference in this, I mean, it could just keep going this way, right? Or he could do something. And what I would, you know, something I would suggest is actually having, like, a really straightforward conversation with her.
And sitting down and being like, OK, so what do you need to hear from me? You know, what what do you want to say? And just giving her the opportunity to kind of let it all go. And and then also him to tell her like what it's like for him, for her to be like following him around all the time and stuff. And like because she probably isn't getting in reality how that occurs. Right. Like to her, she's just. doing what she's doing. She's just being a girl, right? But she's not getting how that is. He's done that before. He did that last night. And then I'll bid anything. If he's not home, she'll come to my house crying. What can I do, Kathy? What can I do? I'll do anything for him. What have you done so far, Kathy? Well, I lied. One day when my son left with two girls and one of his friends to go out to a restaurant after high school. She came over and was crying. He called. I said she wasn't here. He drove by the house, and there was her car. I don't know what to do. I really like the girl. Skye, let me ask you. What did she say that we both gave each other a look like, whoa, just a few minutes ago? What was the thing that she said? Well, she was saying how this other girl wants to go out with her son, but, you know, she really wants her son to be with this girl.
Right. And because they've put in two years. Right, right, right. Okay. Let me give my thoughts on this one. My thoughts are that a big key to the whole deal will be if Kathy can get a hold of Kathy. And let me explain. I don't think it's any surprise that the girl that he picked is somebody that can't stop. following him because mom can't stop following him and i don't mean physically i just mean some moms can get so up in that business i want him to be with this guy and i and call in and saying what do i do how do i manage this how do i how can i control this situation and he's got to be you know he's got to make these my opinion though no no no i understand but as you're but as you're telling the story as you're telling the story i asked you Well, what did you do? And the deal was, well, I did this thing where I had her. She came over and I said she wasn't here. And, you know, I want him to go out with this guy or this girl. And there's a lot of. I guess I feel bad, Mikey. I get it. Listen, I get it. I understand that part. And in terms of that, if she comes over as an adult and as a mentor figure, I think it's absolutely fine to talk to her and, you know, tell her.
Tell her the state of the situation and tell her with wisdom that what she's doing is not going to accomplish the goal. You know that as a grown-up with wisdom. You know that. It's pushing him away. It's pushing him away. I'm following him all over. Rob has something. Rob, what were you going to say? And I just, this is heavy on my heart, man, for me to say, you can't be lying to your son. Like that to me, that is such a big red flag because you're going to do something right now at this crucial age for him where, man, if he has that doubt going, my mom's lying for this girl, he's going to lose that trust in you. And that's the last thing you want, especially with him going off to college. But you lied in the first place. It doesn't matter. No, it's not copping to it. It's not like your loyalty has to be with family. And especially at that age for these kids in high school, if their parents are lying to them, they're not going to trust not only you, but everyone else. Now, Kathy, I want you to have a good rest of your day. So I want to try to wrap it up with something cool, okay? Sure. And that is that the recipe of telling him the truth,
You know, at all times and apologizing for the first one and and telling him that won't happen anymore and then live in it. And then also giving him some space to be 17 is a recipe for a much better relationship, not just between you and him, but between him and other future girls. It's a great recipe for him and his future women, because I believe. that we are defined in our relationships by what we're the most used to, what we grew up around. Eddie said it perfectly the other day. He said, it's our normal. And it's the truth. It is the solid truth. And so if you're telling him the truth and you're giving him some space to do his own stuff, it's going to be good for you and him and him and fill in the blank. So if she comes over, again, what should I say? Just give him space. That's all he wants. Stop enabling it. You know, when you're helping her, it's like you're wanting to help her more than you want to help your son. You know, like, have her leave. Yeah, yeah. All right. Well, hey, listen. What a great, great... Happy Valentine's Day. You too. Kathy, it's going to be fine. Don't worry. It's all going to work out. And I mean it. I mean it. It's going to be all right, Kathy.
I know, because you usually get older people, so I just wanted your perspective on somebody that was younger. I love it. You're great. I love it. And you're a good P1. Okay, thanks. You got it. It's Kathy. She's walking her buns off right now. We have love coach Jamie Thompson. I love her. I love her. Can you do some more segments? Yeah. Yes. I love this stuff. So, yeah, yeah. Call us. That's a little harsh. But, I mean, you have to look past that and really listen to the message. Yeah. Because if somebody sent me that, I'd be like, oh, this person clearly loves me. Oh, oh, oh. I was going to say. No, Mike. Totally. No. You see, you didn't. Yeah, I was thinking of it differently. You must have got the wrong one. Yeah, I must have. But if you want. You can go check them out. They're pretty awesome. And Boston Rob in what looks like pajamas. Yeah, or like a red garbage bag. Yeah, red garbage bag. Or something. I don't know. And there's no reaction. No. He doesn't react to it. He's talking and all of a sudden it just falls out of his mouth and he doesn't react at all. See, that's how into character I get. Wow. We've got to get some outtakes or something because I was screaming at everyone on the set. The bonus DVD. That's right. Bonus DVD. I love it. In studio with us is Jamie Thompson. She is a love coach. Love coach? Is that right? Yeah. She's a love coach. And she's got a website called jamielovesyou.com. And was there something that you wanted kind of special to let people know? Yeah. Well, I, you know, just to support the listeners and support the show and everything, I want to give a free dating consultation to the first five people who email me saying they want one. And for the first five people actually sign up. Email is jamielovesyou.com. And it's J-A-M-I-E. Yeah. Which is different than the private email address of mine that Ashley gave out on the air earlier. That was weird. Okay. Now, let me ask Jamie. Can we take a couple of more calls and see if we can shore some more stuff out here? I got a quick question. Go ahead, Eddie. What's the biggest mistake guys make in the dating world?
I get that a lot, and it's so funny because there's so many. Yeah, that's a good point. What is that supposed to mean? You guys are the worst is what that means. I'm just saying. I'm glad there's, like, another woman right now. Okay. She's on a whole other level. Anyway. That is true. The awesome level. The level of awesomeness in his mind. I wouldn't have said that. Anyway, back to you, Jamie. It was about seven days. But then it's beautiful, you know? It is now. It's beautiful. Stop looking at him like that. You know, I'd say a lot of the biggest mistake that guys make is they're afraid to really, like, stand up for what they want. You know, like, I see a lot of guys. I get a lot of guys come to me, and they're like, I really like this girl, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, oh, great. You know, when did you meet her? They're like, oh, a year ago. I'm like, does she have any idea? And they say no. And it's, I mean, you're completely in the friend zone. There's almost, like, no way back. You know, and a lot of guys are just, they're so. afraid of rejection or something like that they won't actually put themselves yeah all right how about some clarification here now okay how soon do you tell her well i mean it i think you should make it clear whether it be through the way you are around her or actually speaking to her right away i mean because she's gonna make a judgment about whether you are a friend or someone that she's romantically interested in in the first five minutes and and i mean after that judgment is made
It's difficult to come back and it's possible, but it's just, it's easier. So first five minutes, try to kiss her. No, Eddie, that's not what she's saying. Yeah, it's like that new Taco Bell commercial where the guy's rushing the relationship, you know, the parents come to Taco Bell after the first five minutes of them dating. Yeah, I'm not endorsing that statement. Yeah, no, I mean, just you want to communicate that. And that's, you know, a lot of the work I do is teaching people how to communicate that. Come on, Jamie, you know what's up. Jamie. You're so dumb. You have a top 10 things to avoid when meeting women for guys. That's right, I do. That's right, you do. Remind me what I said about that. I don't know. I was going to ask you, what did you say about that? Number one. Yeah, number one. Just tell them right away. You should always wink at ladies. They like that. I might have to make a new top 10 after this show. Never wink at a woman. Jamie, give me a couple. Give me a couple of bullet points. Top ten things to avoid that guys need to avoid when meeting women. Well, you know, we'll just start with the obvious. Eddie keeps saying, you know, give her the wink. And I know he's joking, but some guys don't get that.
Yeah, some guys. If she's walking down the street and you're in like a beat up Toyota, don't yell out the window. Right. It's a good idea. There's there's one. OK, so what you're saying is that you let them know in a way that leaves no mystery to it, that you're letting them know. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, she and that kind of puts it where it's like it's one of those things where now. she has the opportunity to be like no or yes or maybe but if you don't let her know then it just ends up weird and then sometimes you know we women start to get this weird energy from you like wait do you want something more yeah but you're not saying anything and it just comes across as really awkward and it you know has you kind of occur as insecure and that's none of those things are like attractive that's not what you want right it's better to be let me ask uh let's do a just a uh kind of a A role play here. Uh-oh, this is always bad. I love it. What? What are you guys doing? What is happening? I love role play. Yeah. Okay. I'm no part of this one, am I? What is going on? She's looking at something and it's... I'm showing her her website so she knows what we're talking about. Her top ten. Oh, oh, oh. You didn't really have to see your website to know what your top ten are, though. You know what your top ten are. Yeah, I just wanted to see what I wrote so that, you know, because, I mean, there's...
My top 10 today might be different than it was then. Do you change them? Do you change them every once in a while? Yeah, it just changes. I write a lot of that stuff based on the clients that I'm coaching at that time. You know, like, okay, this happened, that happened, and then I get a new client, and I'm like, oh, that's definitely a good one. You know, so it just stuff shifts. Okay, now let's do a little role play. Oh, gosh. The reason that I want to do it, why are you pushing the microphone away, Skye? Well, because whenever we role play, it always turns out bad. We always end up in divorce. And I don't want to get divorced so close to Valentine's Day. I'm telling you, this time it's going to work out. Okay. Well, what I'm going to try to do is I'm going to try to take the position of a lot of guys that are in a new relationship. And I'd like for Jamie, our love coach, to take the position that a lot of girls are in where they're not sure. Where do we stand? Where are we? And so that's what, if we could do a mock role play here, you tell me what you would say. And that way women can listen to it and they can say to themselves, now at least I know what to say. Here we go. Here we go. That's right. Now we're in the zone. Now I'm feeling it. You're the girl.
Well, yeah, I'm the girl, but what's our backstory? Well, we've been dating for, well, we've been seeing each other. You're Asian. Yeah, and I'm Filipino. I'm Asian, you're Filipino. Okay, well, that puts a whole nother... And now, here's the deal. Yes, because I understand what you're saying. Because you're like, okay, it's during that stage of the relationship where the girl's not really sure, the vibes, I don't know, what's going on. And I don't know, I guess that would be a month. A month? So we're seeing each other, but I'm not totally sure how into me you really are. Yes. Yes. Great. And so you're going to show the lady. Yeah, we're hanging out. We're at a coffee shop. Coffee shop. And you're going to start the conversation. Central perk. How would this sound? There it is. So. Mike. Mike. No, I know your name. Go ahead. I would hope. So, Mike, I, you know, I've just been kind of thinking about, you know, where. Where things are going. And I don't know that I'm feeling this kind of like wishy-washy stuff. What do you mean? I mean, like, I don't know. I'm just kind of over it a little bit. Oh, wow. Are you wanting to break up? Well, are we together? Oh, that's a good question. I shouldn't have said that. What I should have said. She got you. She got me. She got me. Man, she almost sunk my battleship with just that one.
Yeah, you're done. But hang on. I got some chess moves left here, lady. So you're kind of over it? Is that what you're saying? Well, yeah. I mean, there's plenty of guys out there that I can, you know, go hang out and get a beer with. And, you know, I mean, that's not really what I'm looking for. What are you looking for? I don't know. Someone who is, you know, really going to give me what I want. You know, someone who wants to have, like, you know, a good... Now, I've really been enjoying spending time with you. I think it's been really great. Cool. Yeah. Glad you're enjoying it. So you're not enjoying it. Why are we sitting here at this coffee place if you haven't been enjoying Central Perk? Are you really not enjoying the relationship? Well, you know, quite honestly, I'm waiting for you to, you know, actually be a man and step up. And if you're not going to do it, then...
I just, I don't know. I'm not going to keep doing this. Guys, I'm drinking coffee at the table right next to you. Eavesdropping your conversation. Honey, I told you not to butt in. Drink your latte, please. Sir, I can't believe this woman, I mean, you've only been going out a month and she's acting like you should be proposing. I think this is disgusting. But then she insulted me. Well, yeah, and then said you weren't a man. Just leave, leave the place, man, and make her pay. Yeah, yeah. All right, babe. Go get me a scone. Well, listen. Get your own scone. Yeah, get your own scone. I mean, what kind of world is this? I apologize. I mean, this is just ridiculous. I'm paying the bill, and I'm not walking. I'm running out of this relationship. Perfect. You were right for me anyway. Wow. Jamie. What are you doing? But you like him. That's how Jamie, that's how you, now that's the advice that you would give to women, that that's the way it should sound? Here's the thing. If you're not, I mean, hypothetical situations are always like a bust, in my opinion. But, you know, I mean, like you're never going to get anywhere with a guy who, you know.
If that's what you want, if I'm someone who's looking for a relationship, which is a lot of women that are hanging out with guys are actually looking for a relationship. Yeah. And the guys aren't. And so it's just this complete disconnect. And if women were actually straight about what they wanted. But if we break down that exchange, don't you feel that that was very confrontative? Yeah, well, I'm on a radio station. I don't know how to actually say that if I was really... I really do. I really, honestly, I really would like to see how it would happen. Yeah, because you were combative before you even explained to him what you wanted. He had no clue what you were after, and you were combative before you even... Hey, Jamie, I get it though. I assumed that he knew. No, no, no. Oh. Hang on a second. And she was Asian and you were Filipino. That's true too. Let's do it for real because I really do want women to listen and say, this is what it might really sound like. Let me go get another coffee. Okay, so let me just get this there. So you're saying that... You paint the scenario. Okay, let's do it. What I think a typical scenario is like a woman is dating a guy that she is...
you know maybe in love with or she really you know she wants to you know have things go to the next level and he's not doing it how long we've been dating um you know three three or four months and and we are not even boyfriend and girlfriend and that's what you're trying to figure out or are we boyfriend and girlfriend and you want to take it to the next level no it's like it's like you're hanging out You're hanging out. There's no commitment. Yeah, exactly. So here's the thing. Has there been kissing? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I wouldn't be in this situation in the first place because I think that I would do the whole, you know, like what we were talking about with Ashley earlier. Like if someone's just not interested, just, you know, go hang out with other people. So that's why like the situation is a little difficult for me to get hypothetically. But the reason it's great, the reason I think it's great is because I know there's a lot of women that are listening right now and even guys. that can learn from how you approach it as a love coach, how you approach it. And there may be some guys that are kind of interested in how I would approach it. And, you know, I'll say right from the very beginning, I won't use anything but honesty because that's what I believe. You got to be honest in it. But I think it would be a really cool thing to listen to. You know what I mean? And for real, like we do it for real because a lot of women are in this situation. A lot of women are in this situation. And guys, too. You have been.
hanging out with a girl for three months. She wants more. What she wants is, are we boyfriend and girlfriend here? Is this just going to go on forever? She wants to take it to the next level and the guy's fine with where it's at. The guy wants to keep hanging out. There's other girls I might want to hang out with. Let's do this. Quick time out. Just got this email. It says, hey, Eddie, I'm a huge fan of the show, and this week I heard you talking about a business selling TVs at cost. I thought you said AAV, and I've been searching and searching and can't figure it out. Can you let me know what it is? You guys are hilarious. P1 Commute Listener, no problem. It is. It's American Audio Video, and they're having a huge sale this week, and it actually starts today, and it goes on through Sunday, where all their televisions are going to be sold at cost, which... It's huge. I mean, I've never heard of any company doing that. I mean, they're always trying to jack up their prices. Not AAV. They are trying to hook you up. They are P1s themselves, and they want to help out other P1s. So go in there, tell them you're a P1. Ask for P1 James, and he's going to help you out. And tomorrow, they're going to be giving away a dozen roses to the first 40 customers that show up. It's a nice little Valentine's gift. So bring in your gal. It would be real cool, real special. You know what I'm saying? If you want to go to their website, it's aavlifestyle.com. If you want to know where they are, their showroom is at 8920 Kenamar Drive. It's right off of Miramar Road, right behind that big giant pyramid on Miramar Road. So it's really cool, man. AAV, they don't carry a big, huge stock of TVs. They're a direct.
They work directly with the manufacturers and guarantee delivery within 48 hours. So they are a great company. They're not at one of these big box stores. They're actually here to help you. Now, remember, the sale starts today. So get out to AAV American Audio Video. The Mikey Show continues with Mikey. I got a two-year-old son. I have a wife named Rebecca. Eddie. Daddy had some drinks. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. It's a Mikey Show. And in the studio with us right now, we have Jamie Thompson. And Jamie Thompson is a love coach. She is a love coach. She can give dating advice. And we actually have some people that are calling in and they are going to ask for some advice, which I think will be fun. It's 9-0-1, in case you're keeping track at home. And Jamie and I are going to do a role play. And it's going to be great for a lot of women. The reason being that a lot of women are in this situation where they've been seeing a guy for about anywhere from a month to three months.
And there is no firmness in the relationship in terms of like, okay, we know what we are here. You're just hanging out. And you're kind of wanting that commitment because you're starting to have feelings for the guy. And you pretty much think that that's what's happening back, but you're kind of wondering, so when is this guy going to make his move? What's up? Yeah. And so we're... Where do you think would be the most comfortable place, by the way, to have this conversation? We said a coffee shop, but maybe that's not the right place. Where would be the right place? Yeah, I would say wherever you generally hang out together, like his house, your house, just somewhere. Okay. Probably actually his house, I would say, because then you have the ability to leave if you need to. Right. Okay. So you're at his house, all right? How do you start this conversation and I'll be the guy? So there's something that I actually want to talk to you about, Mike. All right. And, you know, this is kind of funny because I, you know, I feel a little, you know, a little weird bringing this up. And, but I really am, you know, I really, I've started to have feelings for you. I mean, you're a really amazing guy and we have a lot of fun together. And I'm.
I'm interested, or I just want you to know that I'm looking for a relationship. And I know that you might not be. And if you're not, that's okay. But I just want to let you know that. And so I'm wondering, you know, I mean, if that's something you're going to... How do you know that I don't want to be? Well, I just, I don't feel like we're not exclusive, you know? I mean, so, I mean, maybe you want to be exclusive. Maybe you already are, and we just haven't really talked about it. And if you are, then... You know, that's great. I just, you know, kind of wanted to know where things were at. Well, you know, I'm just not sure. You know, I do definitely love spending time with you. And I love the time that we spend together. It's really fun and everything. But, you know, I thought we were just kind of taking it slow. Okay. And, you know, I mean, and that's fine if that's what you want to do. But I just, you know, want to be, like, clear with you and communicate to you that I, you know, we'll be looking for someone who, you know, wants a relationship. You know, and if you're not sure about that, then we just might, you know, not, I mean, I love spending time with you too, but I mean, that's just not what I'm looking for is something that's like not solid. So you want us to stop seeing each other all together? Well, not necessarily, but I mean, I might not spend as much time with you all the time because I, you know, I want to find someone who, you know, wants the same thing I do. But we can still hang out is what you're saying? Probably.
I mean, obviously, if I was exclusive with someone else, then, you know, we couldn't. But I just, you know, I've come to a place where I know what I want. But we can hang out, you know, we can hang out sometimes. I don't see why not. Yeah. Yeah. That's cool. I mean, I want to give you all the freedom to choose whatever you want. Yeah, that sounds pretty good. If you want to continue seeing me, I mean, that's fine. But, you know, I just want you to know that if I find someone else that wants the same thing I want, then I'm not going to be able to hang out with you anymore. And I totally understand that. Pretty good. I didn't even think you were going to say that. But if you're saying, like, we can still keep seeing each other, that's pretty cool. And, you know, and then if you find somebody that you feel really strongly about, you know, and you want to get committed to them, you know, you can totally tell me. And I'll do the same, you know, because I hadn't been dating anybody, you know, I just sort of been dating you and I'm in that take it slow stage. But, you know, now that I have the green light, you know, and it's all good, I can do the same thing, right? That's cool, right? So we can both see people? I think this is a good conversation. I'm liking this more and more every second. This is good. Just dump him. Well, he's a jerk. Do you have a girlfriend? I'm Mike's roommate. He's talking in my earpiece. I have a feral girlfriend that runs around the house. Let me wrangle her in.
Hey, get the hell back in the room. But she needs to dump him. Get your ass back in that room right now. You get your ass back in that room right now. I need to tell her that she needs to get rid of you. I'm sorry. Are you hearing how awesome this is working out, though? You can do whatever you want. She's basically telling me that I get to do whatever I want. I get to do whatever I want. She's basically saying you can dump him. You are better than him. You guys got to leave. You guys got to leave. I'm sorry, babe. Oh, wow. I'm so sorry. You know, before they. Came out and, you know. Made that scene. Yeah. I, you know, I, um. You know what? I hate to cut you off, babe, but, um.
I got to get up so early tomorrow. I got to get up so early tomorrow. He's a jerk. He's going to go to the bar. I am so stoked, though. I am so stoked. He's going out. He's going out. He's going to go meet a girl. I just want to tell you, like, I am so stoked. I am so stoked with the conversation that we had because I think it just, it was a good idea. And it definitely lightened things up for both of us. And I'm just stoked to be able to get to still see you. I have to be in the room that you have to be in the room. And, and. I'm kind of wondering if we should even keep seeing each other. I mean, if you're that excited about getting to go hang out with other girls, I mean, that's not really. No, I'm just excited. I said I was excited we had the conversation. I am. I mean, because I was kind of in that same place where I didn't know. And so I'm glad that you brought it up because now I know the rules. Why don't we just not hang out for a couple of weeks? Why don't we not hang out for a couple of weeks? take, you know, let's, I think, I think I just need some time away to really think about this. Already? Have a break? But, are you sure that you're stable? Because a couple of minutes ago, I mean, seriously, seriously, like, seriously, like, five minutes ago, you said that this was all good, and now you're saying... Well, I didn't know that you would have the kind of, I was seeing, you know, what you would say about that, and you didn't, you had kind of a reaction of, like, you're really excited about going to... So you were playing, so you were playing games with me?
I didn't say that. Well, you did. You said that you were going to see what I was going to say. I wanted to see what you said. And now that I know where you stand, I just, I don't, I'm, you know what I'm looking for. Yeah, yeah. And I don't know that that's what you're looking for. So I don't think we're right for each other. She's playing games, Mike. But I asked you. She's not playing. That's my sister. My sister knows. She's not on to hers. She's seen me get my heart broken. You deserve better. I don't want me to get hurt again. He's trying to twist it. Anybody want a Jell-O shot? Why are you getting wasted at 9 in the morning? What are you doing, bro? What are you doing? I thought we were having a party. Why are you making jello shots? Your sister's here. I'll have like jello shots right now. Your gal's over here. My woman's running around all crazy. Well, listen. She's wasted. Well, she's already wasted. Well, yeah. She always is. She's got like eight jello shots. She always is. Where's the starting day? See? See what I mean? I'm sorry. You guys have this private conversation. We'll leave. That is fantastic. That is fantastic. Well. That didn't work out so good. It didn't. It never worked out. It didn't. This is why I told you I wouldn't have this conversation. But I got what I wanted. Hey, listen, it's a good conversation to have. I wouldn't recommend it, though. What I would recommend is, like, look, if he's not committing the way you want him to commit, stop answering his calls. Stop calling him so much and actually go out and find someone who is. And then he's going to be like, what's going on? What's going on? You know, and just and be like, you know, not like.
game playing and weird about it. She's so dead on right. I wouldn't have this conversation. I don't even know how to have this conversation. I've never had a conversation like that. How does it usually go? What do you mean? Take me out of it. What would it sound like on the phone? Just tell me. Let's do this. Here I can actually role play. Or I could just do it myself. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I just want to see what it would be. Because I think there's people that are listening that are like, I want a practical instruction on how to do this. You know how many people are listening right now in that same exact situation. Yeah, so many. Yeah. So many. I can actually play the other side. I know what she's talking about. Okay. So I call you and I go. Hey, are we going to hang out tonight? Yeah, hey, Jamie. You know, what's going on? I haven't heard from you in a while. I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out this weekend. Wait, what day is it? It's Friday. Yes. Oh, you know what? I'd love to, but I actually, I already have plans. I'm going out with the girls, so I'm not going to be able to. I don't know. It may be just me, but I'm kind of feeling like we haven't talked that much or hung out in a while. Is everything cool? Yeah, no, everything's fine. I'm just, you know, I don't know, having a good time. You're busy. All right. Well.
I mean, it's nothing, like, you know, personal. No, that's cool. I understand. Kind of have a lot going on. It's all good. Well, have fun then. Okay. Hey, dude, are you on the phone? Yeah. Karen's here to see you. I don't know if you... Karen? Dude, dude, dude. You know what, Eddie? I think I got to go. I got to go, Eddie. Bye. Did you just say wet nurse? Don't ever say that again. You hung up already. You didn't hear it. You didn't hear it. Yeah, but I did hear it. That went horribly, Jamie. For me, that sucked. What do I do now? I'm not going to call you back. Look at where you're at, though. You're like, oh, wow. She's out on me. She hates me. I'm never going to call you again. Isn't she also not being honest? Yeah.
Yeah, she's also... It's Friday. Of course I already have plans. If you're a girl and you don't have plans on Friday and you're waiting for some guy who's not really that into you to call you... Well, what if you're not waiting but no plans have materialized? Well, then I would say... Okay, do you want to do it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do it where no plans. No plans. Hey, Jamie. We're going to do this forever. I love it. Yeah, I mean, seriously could do this for ages. Hey, Jamie, what's up? Let's take a couple of calls. Hey, guess who called back? Britt called back. Her phone is working now. Hey, P1 Britt, you there? I'm here. Okay, what is your question? Okay, my question is, my boyfriend and I, we've been dating for, I guess, about six months. And we took a break about a month ago. It started a month ago because we were trying to talk about the future. And it gets really tricky because he was only supposed to stay in San Diego for a year. I was thinking of moving after a year. And then we decided we wanted a future together, but we didn't realize we couldn't figure out what was going to change. So we took a break. It's been a month. I don't know what is going on at this point. I don't understand.
we still need to continue the break or if it was a cop-out on his end. And Valentine's Day is coming up, and it's kind of sad. Yeah, so let me just ask you a question. Is this happening, like, is this a really big deal for you right now because Valentine's Day is, what, tomorrow? No, I mean, I don't really care for the holiday, but it's just, I've just been stressed out about the situation since. We took the break. I think I was good for the first two weeks. So wait, he hasn't said anything about Valentine's Day? No, he hasn't said anything about Valentine's Day. That's not a good sign. That is not a good sign. Not a good sign. I mean, I don't want to make you feel bad, but, you know. I mean, really, though, if he wants to hang out on Valentine's Day, he's going to let you know. And he would have let you know by now. No, and it's not like I want to see him on Valentine's Day. Like, that's not. a reason for me wanting to call in. It's more like, how long do I give this break before I kind of give up? Are you seeing other people? Like, what's the deal with the break? Sometimes people take breaks and it's like, we're seeing other people. Sometimes it's like, we're just not seeing each other, but we're not seeing anyone else. We actually didn't really specify if we were seeing other people. It was kind of a, we're taking a break to just figure things out. I've dated someone.
Good. Hang out with the guy you're dating on Valentine's Day then. Yeah, no, I mean, he wants to, but I just, I'm so torn up about this situation that I don't, I have never said to someone, oh, I want a future with you and have the person say it back to me, but then we couldn't figure out what's going to happen with moves and jobs and all of that. So that's why we took the break. Yeah, he you know, he might just be dealing. Here's the thing. It's like there's two things, right? He might just be dealing with his own stuff, working things out, in which case, you know, give him some space to do that. You know, the last thing you want to do is like, you know, smother him with like, you know, being really claustrophobic. But, you know, on the other hand, he might be, you know, not that interested in that anymore. That's great. So, you know, I mean, you just got to, you want to keep yourself happy and, you know, keep dating and things like that. And, you know, maybe keep it open for a while, but you don't have to wait for him forever. Hey, Britt, thanks for calling. We appreciate the phone call. We hope that helped. Yeah, thank you. Thanks a lot. Jamie, thanks for coming in. Jamie is jamielovesyou.com. And she is a love coach and she was a lot of fun. And it was very cool. We have to take a quick time out while we're back.

I'm Rick Lawrence at Rock 105.3. That's crazy. San Diego's Rock. Featuring Mikey. I have to check my email constantly. Eddie. I am maybe the world's worst handyman. Scott. An SUV. I'm still going to go for a hybrid. Boston Rob. I look at Republicans. I love the Democrats. You're obviously sexist and a horror person. And Ashley. I mean, literally, like, my brain is blank. Mikey shows on Rock 105.3. Hey, Skye, how's your cat coming along with the girl surgery? Well, we took her out of the hole in the morning. Yeah, you guys put her in the hole. Yeah, she deserved it. Solitary. Yeah, solitary. Yeah, she was asking for it. Right? She tried to kill you. Well, yeah, she tried to kill me. Murder you. And she was, like, acting like a psychopath. She has all these stitches down her stomach, and she's like...
doing Spider-Man moves on, like, the cat house and stuff. I'm like, no, you're supposed to be calm. What are you doing? You're going to bust that open? Her stitches started bleeding. So when we took her out of the hole yesterday morning, she was doing the hole. And that lasted a good couple hours. So she did a lot better yesterday, but I think she lost one of her stitches. Because I swear there were three of them and there's now only two of them. Check Craigslist. She might be trying to make money. And the middle one is a little poofy. So, yeah, we'll see. But she's doing better. Thank you. So, Skye, why do fans of the Batman movies want the Joker to be retired? Yeah, well, they have started a petition online. And they're asking for signatures because they believe that Heath Ledger, when he did the Joker in this last Batman movie, it was like the tops. Like, it could never be better than that. Oh, I see what you're saying. It's a clip. It's a clip from the movie. It's a clip of Heath Ledger from Batman. Mike, why are we allowing that to happen? That's a clip from The Dark Knight.
It's pretty dead on, wasn't it? It was like dead on. It was maybe a good impression of Heath now. Okay, way too soon. Way too soon. Way too soon. And you heard what I heard, right? Okay, fine. I'm sorry. So they say out of respect to Heath Ledger and respect to the movie and the character, they say that the Joker character should be retired from all future Batman movies. Wow. I mean, who are they? giving that to Batman himself? Yes. Who does that go to? They're going to send it to the Bat-layer. What if, like, it's the Batcave. What if, wow. Hey, nerd alert. Excuse me, I'm just trying to get the right information out there. I think everybody knew what I meant. I'm getting the right information out there. It was okay. But, like, what if 50 years from now do they decide to make another Batman movie? They're not allowed to? Not appropriate. There was a petition. There was a petition. That is stupid. And it needs to be respected. I support it. Uh, Okay. Other things. We've got to move on to other things. This is pretty good. How about if we give away our two dinners for tomorrow night? Ooh, la la. Yes. If we give away our two dinners at Pamplemousse. Now, the idea was that you go online. That's right. Beautiful. Beautiful.
back in your mouth. So you're going to do this song? Yeah, you got a la-la-la. La-la-la-la. You're going to bite it off. Impossible. That is a thick tongue, yeah. You're welcome. All right, now, well, I don't know that she said thank you. Oh, I thought. You just assumed she was saying thank you. Hello. Hello. No, stop calling. We're not giving it away. I don't know, we're not. Right now. Yeah. Apparently they missed out the point here. It was a web thing. They didn't get to do it all week. Rob has the mic. It's the memo. He had the phone numbers on there, that's why. Oh, okay. He should be coming in in two seconds. We had a little deal on our website where you could go and you could nominate. You could nominate a couple if you thought that they deserved going out and having a nice dinner at Pamplemoose. Now, we got a lot of emails, people nominating, and they were really cool. We got some really cool nominations. Yeah. And it was tough to pick just two, but we got them. And the winners are Ginger and... That was the person that nominated them. Oh, their friend that nominated them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so just straighten it out in my head. Ginger and Jeff won for their friends. These are the two people that wrote us.
So, first, let's get Ginger on the line. Are you there, Ginger? Earl's here, I think. That's the person that won. Oh, it's the person that won? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We got the people that won. Got it, got it, got it. Okay, okay. So, Earl, you were nominated by Ginger. Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't think they know that they were nominated, Mike. You didn't? Oh, yeah. Because, I mean, people send in their submissions. Total surprise. And they have no idea that they won. We're telling them that they won right now. Okay. That is awesome. Well, congratulations. Congratulations, Earl. Well, thank you. Let me read you the email that we got because it's pretty nice, okay? I can hear Ginger cackling in the next tube. Yeah? That's awesome. Here is what Ginger wrote in to us. It says, hey, Mikey, my coworker Earl and his wife really do deserve this. They have three kids, about 10 and under, and were strapped tight for money even before the economy went downhill.
His wife also has had a lot of health issues this last year, and he's had to miss work and take care of her. I don't know if they've even been able to have a nice dinner since before having the kids, and he has no idea what they can afford to do this year. He's a great guy. He's very nice. He's one of those people that just makes everyone laugh. I couldn't think of a more deserving couple. Help them out, please. That's P1 Ginger. So we loved the letter. We loved the email. And you're going to go to Pamplemousse tomorrow. Have you ever been there before? No, I haven't. It's really good. It's my favorite restaurant in San Diego. And it really is incredible, incredible food. And we have a reservation for you. And it's going to be great, man. It's going to be great. For babysitters? Yeah, you're going to have to work on that on yourself. Well, Ashley at one point had 40 clients. This is true. Yeah, Ashley had 40 clients at one time. This is true. So she could take care of you. I can bring in the list. I'm sure my mom still has one. Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm sure. I'm sure that she can. I'm not kidding. I think you should have her fax that over because I'd like to take a look at it closely. Not that funny. Hang on the line. Thanks a lot, you guys. Thanks, Ginger. I know you're listening. That's right.
That's cool. P1 Anthony, are you there? Yeah. Now, I'm sure you've heard the same thing here on hold. You are a winner as well. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, it's very cool. Jeff wrote in. Jeff is your landlord. Wow. Yeah. And his email says, I'm a landlord. I rent out a small room to a young married couple named Anthony and Candace. They've both been reduced to working minimum wage jobs. They basically have nothing but each other. This is their first Valentine's Day married to each other, and they're just trying to save money, so they haven't made any plans. And on top of that, he says, they don't have transportation, but I am willing to be a chauffeur for them. Holy crap. That is super cool. Taking them to the restaurant and back. He says, cry, cry, cry, cry. Not now, you guys. Yeah. Says, I just want their first Valentine's Day to be special. And, yeah, that's your landlord, man. That's pretty cool. Yeah, I've actually never been a fan of Valentine's Day until I had to. Yeah. And now I'm kind of stoked. Well, then you can take your gal out to a nice meal on Pamplemousse, and it's, like Mikey said, a killer restaurant. You're going to love it. Pamplemousse. It's got a really weird name. It's French for grapefruit. It is.
I'm telling you, dude, it may not sound appetizing, but it is the best. It's my favorite restaurant, not just in San Diego. It's my favorite restaurant I've ever been to. Okay. I'll take your word for it. Yeah, man. The food is fantastic, and you're going to trip out. You're going to love it. All right, man. Hang on the line, will you? Yeah, sure. All right, cool. Well, that is nice, man. What a nice dude. I love it. It's so cool when, you know, it's so... selfless, too. These guys are doing this just out of the kindness of their heart. Everybody that went on there did it out of the kindness of their heart. Just recognize somebody that they thought it would really be great to make their Valentines, and that's what it's all about. I wish you could have given everybody that nominated people, but it's just the way it is. Everybody will figure something out tomorrow. I've got to thank Jeffrey at Pample Moose, too, for helping us out with that. For sure. And you'll meet Jeffrey because Jeffrey comes out and sort of walks through the restaurant and you will not miss him. Oh, yeah. He's the guy with the New York accent that says, how you like it? Is everything good? You like it? Good, good, good. Okay. So when we come back, this is not going to make.
Some people very happy. Oh, no. But the stimulus plan was announced. And for those of you that are wondering, how much money am I going to get? We'll tell you next. You sound like a whining little kid. This is the Mikey Show. On the rock. Can I take your order? Large coffee and a Kit Kat candy bar. We don't have Kit Kats. Oh, man. Kit Kat goes great with coffee. Yeah, not sure if you noticed, but we're Skippy Burger, not Skippy Kit Kat. You sure you don't have any Kit Kats? Sir, I stare at this menu for eight hours a day, so I feel like I have a pretty good handle on it. Kit Kat candy bars. Light, crispy wafers covered in creamy milk chocolate. Looks like coffee has a new best friend. Coffee breaks were supposed to be about taking a break, but now they're just about grabbing a cup of joe to bring back to your desk. Boring! Hey, dude, I got to let all the P1s who ride know. Dude, go get your motorcycle insurance there. They put me at $325 on my brand new FZ1, and the other bike would have been $748. Now, do you only drive a motorcycle? You don't have a car? Dude, I actually got my car insurance there last October, and they did me right, too. They saved you money on that, too? Dude, yeah, it was about $400. Eddie's got in Pacifier right now and two glow sticks. You know it. Pretty awesome. Beats. And a diaper. And a diaper. Just in case. Okay, I don't know. Oh, cool. Okay, listen to this. Especially you folks that were expecting.
to be getting a check in the mail from the government because they approved the stimulus plan. Right, Skye? Yeah, well, yeah, the House and the Senate are supposed to sign off on it today and then it'll go to the president's desk and he'll sign off on it. So everything was all worked out and the details were worked out. And we all remember before, you know, the people who qualified for that, you know, tax credit with the last stimulus plan. got a check in the mail, like a $600 check sent your house. So when people started talking about this stimulus plan where you were going to get like around $500 and then it got reduced to $400. Okay, still $400 is better than nothing. Well, all the details were released yesterday, and basically you will get a $400 credit per worker and an $800 credit per, you know, dual earning household if you have two people in your home working. So if you're a single person, you have to make less than $75,000. If you're a couple, you have to make less than $150,000.
So something else that was announced yesterday in regards to that, that was a surprise to all of us, especially came as a big surprise to Boston Rob when I told him first thing this morning, is that $400 will be paid, spread out one paycheck at a time. Oh, sky. So it will average about $15 a paycheck. That's not what a lot of people were expecting. No, they were thinking, oh, I'm going to get a $400 check in the mail. No, you're going to get an extra $15 every paycheck. Yeah, that doesn't sound as good. That doesn't sound as good at all. That is different. And what we were discussing earlier, it's different. What we were saying earlier is just that, you know, if the whole deal is let's stimulate the economy, I just, I'm like, man, is that $15 going to change people's behavior? Eddie, you think, yeah, it will. It's $15 that's going in there by a bunch of people. At this time of the way the world is right now, I think that anything helps. And if it's $15, which equates to maybe $30 a month, that's $30 a month that I don't have. And if I've stopped going out to dinner once a month with my wife or whatever, I can start doing that again, which will in turn stimulate the economy.
Yeah, and Rob was saying he wants it all at once to go out and buy something big, you know, and we're no financial experts here, but what's better for the economy, you know, buying something real big all at one time or kind of spreading it out over the year and keeping small businesses afloat and the pizza place on the corner and stuff like that. I liked your thing about you got to take antibiotics over a period of time. Yeah. I like that. That makes sense. Hey, listen, if everyone does it, it's all good. It works, you know, and this is making sure that people don't. take that big lump sum and save it. And just put it away in their saving account because then it's not going back into the economy. So that's definitely different than what people were expecting and not everybody is a big fan of this idea, but that's the way it is. That's right. So there you go. Right now at MikeyShow.com, if you go to MikeyShow.com, click on Eddie's picture on his blog and you can see two sonogram pictures of the baby.
Now, this is what this is what's incredible. We don't know if we're looking at a boy or a girl because he doesn't know. It's a girl. I know. Well, it could be. You know, we had the ultrasound yesterday. Yeah. And we tell the technician every time, you know, hey, we don't want to know what it is. And she always is like, OK, cool. I appreciate you telling me that. Yeah. But while she was doing it one time, she kind of said something. And we were like, did you catch that? Where she said. Oh, look at the baby. She's moving around real good. Oh, no. But it wasn't like. It's a girl. Like some of us, like, you know, with me and Debra, we'll do that, too. We'll be like, oh, how's she feeling? Or I'll go, you know, oh, how's he doing today? You know, so you just kind of. Yeah, I say both. And, you know, you'll catch yourself and you go, oh, I mean it. So it could be that or. No, that's a girl. I'm telling you, it's a girl. Does Debra do the same thing? Does Debra ever say he? Yeah. She does too? Yeah, she'll say he. See, when Rebecca was pregnant with Jake, we both said he. And, you know, we both kind of wanted a girl. And so it was really weird. And they say that 70% of the time. No, 76% of the time. What the mom thinks is what it is. Really? Wow. 76% of the time, what the mom thinks is what it is.
That's crazy. What does Debra think? You know, we don't really talk about it like that just because if she does feel a certain way, I don't know if she wants to influence me. Yeah. You know, because we do want to be like surprised. Right. So it's not like, you know, I'll catch her sometimes saying he or she. Right. But it's kind of equal. Yeah. You know, so I don't really know. I love the peace sign. Oh, well, yeah. You are getting a tie-dyed onesie straight away. No need to even ask. First of all, no thank you. I got it covered. I got it covered. What that means is during the sonogram, they're taking pictures of everything. Right. So it was really cool. I got to see 10 fingers, 10 toes. You know, they check everything. And I'm like, wow, that's cool. Our baby looked great. You know, heartbeat was great. Everything was good. It was a really, really blessing yesterday. And so – but while they were doing the sonogram, they took one image of the baby literally giving a peace sign. Yeah. And I –
started cracking up and I'm like, oh man, Skye is going to love this. It's fantastic. Auntie Skye is going to buy so much tie-dyed Grateful Dead stuff. You don't even know, bro. It's fantastic. You don't even know. I'm going to remove this. You know what's going on. You got to go and check this out because it's like a perfect peace sign. It is. It almost looks fake. Yeah. But it's for real, man. It's crazy. And I have to say, like, these are, and I've told Eddie this, These are the most brilliant like looking sonograms. Like you see the perfect shape. You know what I mean? Like you can see the shape just perfectly. Like they're so clear. I mean, obviously it's my first baby. I didn't know. Is it different? Yeah, dude. Like when we had these types of sonograms with Jake, they were, I don't know. They were kind of like more blurry. Yeah. You know, just kind of like movement. And these. Oh, you can see everything. Oh, dude, these are great. It's awesome. And everybody can see them. Yeah. You go to MikeyShow.com and click on Eddie's blog, and you'll be able to see the pictures of the sonogram. That's my baby. How far along? She is 18 weeks. 18 weeks pregnant. Wowza. Now, this would be the stage. This would be, that's when you can definitely find, I mean, if you wanted to, they'd tell you, right? They should.
Sky really wants you to know. I want to know. I need to know these things. You will in about four and a half more months. It's not acceptable. It's fine. It's fine. You'll be fine. Just four and a half more months to go. You'll be fine. So, yeah, the text said, okay, well, if I, you know, get to that area, I'll just have you guys turn away because she'll be able to tell. Really? Yeah. Dude. It's crazy, man. Hey, have you thought about doing the 3D? Yeah, we talked about 4D, right? Is it 4D? I think it's called 4D. 5D. None is 100D. No, no, no. Yeah, we've talked about doing the 4D, but they say it's better to do it, like, towards the end of the second trimester where you'll get a real cool image. Like, if you do it right now, in fact, the tech we asked her yesterday, she said, if you did it right now, the baby would look gross. I said, all right. She's right. We did it twice, and we did it early on, and it was gross. You could see, like, my son's. head fusing together. There's no fat on their body yet. It looks all skeletal. They said about 28 weeks is the best time to do it. That's cool, man. We'll probably do that. If you want, I offer a service my own. I do Polaroids every week. I come to the home. It's extremely cheap. It's 50 bucks a session. You take one Polaroid picture of the couple? Of the happy couple. Then I draw what I
I think the baby will look like. I like this. Wow, that is really special. And I come to the home. You get all that together for one price? One price. $50 cash. That's a deal. That's amazing. A new 50, if you could. A new one. Paid up front. Sometimes I don't show up. Oh, wait. You just said. Yeah, I skip a lot of it. Well, there it is. And you can see it right now. MikeyShow.com. Click on Eddie's blog. That's so cool, Chad. You will see. He is not revealing names. It's a girl. Yeah. He's not revealing names. He's not revealing her name. Right. Or his. His. Or his name. It's a girl. It's completely. He is not a girl. No, I'm talking about a baby. What? Let's see. Skye. Yes, Mike. What would you name the boy? Suggest one for Eddie. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I can't wait to hear this. I don't want to hear it. Well, this is tough because I can't. I don't know what to say. What name would you like to suggest for him? What would I name Eddie's Baby Boy? Yeah, if you had a pickup name. I have suggestions. Okay, you go first. Okay, I like Burton. I don't know. I was just trying to think of names. Atticus. Well, I've got a name for a girl. Leonidas. Well, for a girl, since that's what you're having, I think you should name maybe her Natalie.
I would never name it that. That's a cute name. I'm not saying I don't like that name. I just, you know, for us, you know, we're naming things that are very personal to us. So I'm not saying the name now. Star Wars. Well, Leia. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Lamesa. Luke. Leia. I love it. What about Padme? What about Brett Favre? What about Darth? I like it. I like it. It's all good suggestions. Chewy. 570-105-4. Oh! Chewy. 570. Set star. Wait. Shut up. Yeah, that doesn't really work. Wing fighter. Or that plane. Wing fighter. Now you're going to upset him, bro. Quit while you're ahead, bro. You're the worst. Come on. I saw... I saw... I actually didn't finish it, but I was about three quarters of the way, probably further than that, watching a documentary yesterday called Crazy Love. Oh, yeah. I've heard of this. Now, what is this? Dude, it is wild. Is it crazy? It's crazy. Get what she did right there? And it's one of those deals where you go, you know, truth is stranger than fiction. You couldn't have written this thing crazier. It was a couple. They meet in 1957, and they're very young.
The way this documentary develops, I think, is how incredible they did it. And first, let me tell you, I see a movie trailer for it. And my wife is sitting there watching the movie trailer with me. It was on Apple TV. You can search movies on Apple TV. We like documentaries. So we're looking for documentaries and we're seeing a whole bunch of them and nothing is looking good. We come to this one crazy love and the trailer hooked us. Like she goes, I want to see that. And I go, yeah, I kind of do too. So we rent it. And it starts with the woman who is the focus of the story because it's a couple, man and a woman. And this woman is probably about 68, 69 years old now, right? And she's wearing these crazy like.
sunglasses with like the big, very gaudy with the big, you know, diamond studs on them and that kind of deal. Very made up, you know, big hair, kind of East Coast. And as she's talking, as she talks, her eyebrows like dart up and down. It's real distracting. It's just, it's crazy. And what she talks about is how she met this guy. And the guy was a total nerd, and she was gorgeous back in the day, late 50s. She was like a pinup model, kind of beautiful. And he was about as nerdy as they come. Big, thick glasses, just a total nerd. But he was pretty successful. Money. That's right. That's right. Go on, Mike. Like, what are we talking about? How much success? That's right. Well, he had been a producer of a movie and then became a lawyer. And he was doing pretty good. He was making about $80,000 a year. And back in 1957, the average person made $4,000 a year. And so he was doing really well. He had a lot of fancy cars. He also was a certified pilot. So he flew. And he meets this young girl and kind of sweeps her off her feet, right?
They're dating, and it's kind of like in Goodfellas. He's taking her to the Copa. It takes place in New York City. He's taking her to the Copa. He's taking her to all these fancy places, and she's getting wined and dined, and she's just loving it. And throughout the documentary, they're also talking to her girlfriends, and her girlfriends are adding their two cents. And, yeah, this is what it was like. And, oh, man, were they in love and da-da-da-da-da. And you find out that all this time he was married. Oh, my God. He had a wife. OK, he had a wife the whole time. And the young girl, the focus of the movie finds out, oh, you're married. She says, listen, I'm out of here. If you ever get a divorce, then let me know. So the next day he calls her and he says, you're never going to believe this. I was able to get the divorce. I'm a lawyer. I was able to get the divorce right away and produced fake divorce papers for her. She takes the divorce papers to her mother because they didn't trust the situation, right? And so she gives the papers to her mom, kind of begrudgingly. It was her mom that proved it to me. She gives them to her mom, and they continue dating. He's taking her on flying trips, whining and dining her, saying that the marriage is over. He's divorced. He's so glad that he's with her. And a few weeks later, mom comes back and says, yeah, I checked them out. They're fake.
It's not real. So she confronts him. He's backtracking. Hang on. I have an explanation for this. She says, I'm out of here. And during the period of time that she's out of there, she takes a trip to Florida with her girlfriends. And she meets this guy down in Florida that just happens to be from New York, too. And he's like Mr. Dreamy, right? Great looking guy. Mr. Popular. Tall. Handsome. Whole deal. They fall for each other. This whole time, the other dude, I believe his name is Bert, the weird guy, glasses, you know, the nerd guy. He's going crazy. He's flipping out that he's ruined it and he's trying to get her back, trying to get her back. And the two of the, the girl and this new guy, they're falling in love, but the new guy gets enlisted in the army and he splits. And during this period of time, the nerd dude is trying to get her back, trying to get her back.
It's too late. When the guy comes back from the army, the two of them hit it off again, and it's over. And she tells the nerd with the wife, she says, sorry, it's over. Well, he's flipping out. He hires people to throw rocks in her window to scare her so that she'll come back to him, like run to him for comfort. Because he's always been a comforting guy. That doesn't work. So he thinks he's going to hire somebody to beat her up. What? Are you kidding? That that will get him to get her back if he hires somebody to beat her up. No. And that doesn't work. So he hatches a new plan. And I'm watching this, right? And I'm like, I don't know what's coming just like you don't. I'm sitting there watching this and I'm thinking, you know, this is pretty interesting, but where are we going with this? She's engaged to be married. She's getting married that week to this new guy. Engagement and the whole family's celebrating. Doorbell rings. They open the door. It's a delivery man with a box, like some sort of gift, flowers or whatever. He opens the box up and throws a liquid into her face and blinds her. Oh, jeez. And this guy, the weird guy, says, if I can't have her, nobody can have her. And by the way, they're interviewing the both of them. No. They're interviewing him.
And they're interviewing her separately. You know, you see them throughout the movie. So he's out of jail. He goes to jail, right? He goes to jail. And while he's in jail, by the way, the trial is outrageous. The trial is outrageous because he is a lawyer. He starts to file petitions to stall the trial. And it's working. Then he says that he's going to represent himself. And then cuts his own wrists so that it looks like he's crazy. And all this time, he's sending her letters while he's in there. And so she leaves the country. He's freaking her out so bad, right? So he's in jail. And they have to have her under arm protection, by the way, after he blinds her. She's under arm protection, right? She had a female cop that was... protecting her you know because he was still trying to write her sending her roses even after the whole thing well he gets caught they put him in jail he spends 15 years in jail and during that period of time she was in europe trying to get away from it all and uh she couldn't meet anyone because basically when they figured out what was going on with her eyes they didn't want her what's so creepy about it is that he kind of got
What he was trying to do. You know what I mean? So she comes back. She comes back. And he gets out of jail. And he has this interview with this news station. And the interviewer, you know, when he gets out of jail, is talking to her. What do you think about being out of prison? And the guy looks at the camera and he says, Linda, if you're out there and you're listening, I still love you and I want to marry you. Get ready. Nobody is dating this woman. Don't tell me this. Don't tell me this. Come on. I can't. No. I can't. No. And so. No, Mike, no. Her girlfriend decides maybe he's changed. And so the girlfriend plays Cupid. Come on. Stupid Cupid. And hooks them back up. Oh, by the way, guess who the Cupid is? The cop.
That guarded her. Get out of here. What? The cop that was her protection. That's crazy. I can't handle this. Dude, it's crazy. It's crazy love. It's crazy love. Yeah. And they end up getting married. No, they do not. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. How is that possible? And they're whacked out with one another. They're in love. She forgave him for blinding her. They're in love now. Was it that or was it that nobody was going to have her and she was just like... Oh, that creeps me out. And she is, let me tell you, she's something else, man. She's kind of wacky, too. I mean, she's a little wacky, too. In fact, while he was in prison, they were somehow able to connect the two of them on the telephone. And she said, well, if you love me so much, why don't you give me some money? Oh! And so he did. He sent her $4,000 within a week. Sounds about right, huh? He sent her $4,000 within a week. That's it? And she takes the $4,000, photocopies it, takes it to his parole officer and says, he's harassing me. Oh, Jesus. After she spends the money. Used to eat a lot of natural food. Then turn most people causes.

Oh, yeah, but mine are surprises, so I can't say it. You're so good, Eddie. Then me, too. Yeah. Just to put that out there, they're better than Eddie's. Okay. Well, that's not right now. Because they involve gold. What? Oh, Scott, you're valentine? Wow. Okay, Eddie, shut up. Yeah, Rob. 570-1053 is the phone number. And...
Yeah, I was asking Rob if he was going to do anything, and I told him if he needs some ideas, I would be happy to help him out. Oh, really? Like, what can I do? An emotional vase. Yeah. You put kind words into this vase. Instead of flowers. You know you would do it. I'm going to. I'm going to. Let's see what we got. There are a couple of things that I haven't mentioned that are... Pretty interesting. A lot of people are questioning the validity of Joaquin Phoenix on David Letterman. Joaquin. People are really saying that they think it was a bunch of hooey. They don't think it was real. He comes on there with a beard, giant beard, looks like Grizzly Adams. He's got the unwashed, unkempt hair, out of it, sunglasses. This is gum underneath Dave's table. Dude. We know what you're doing, guy. Yeah, people are thinking it's a bit. So, anyway. That's one of the deals. Then also, the California Attorney General is issuing a consumer alert warning of a scam. Yeah. What is this guy? Well, this is something that I brought up the other week because I got one of these in the mail and I said, you aren't going to fool me. I get these on the daily. Really? In your actual mail? I don't know if they're for real or not.
Yeah, so basically this is all in regards to property tax relief. Get my dad on the phone, Ash, because I want to make sure my dad hasn't got this and he's trying to refinance. Yeah, so basically, you know, property values have dropped and you can go and you can ask for your property tax to be reassessed. And they will assess your home value to what it's currently worth today, which for a lot of people is like 20% less than what they've been paying before. So it'll drop your property tax bill, which can save you quite a bit of money. And this is something you can do for free through the county assessor's office. You just get a form from their website or from their office. You fill it out, send it in for free, and they take care of you. Scam artists are preying on people who don't know that
And they'll send you stuff in the mail that looks really official and almost makes it look like it's from the county saying, oh, if you'd like us to have your property reassessed, just fill out all this information and send us a check for, you know, $100, $200, $500, whatever, and we'll do it. And so the state attorney general is saying, you know, don't fall for it. This is a free service offered by the tax assessor, and you shouldn't be paying somebody hundreds of dollars for this. That is brutal. That is brutal. Let's see. P1 school teacher is on the line. Hi, school teacher. Hey, how's it going, guys? Good, man. Well, this Valentine's Day, me and my new bride are going to Cancun, Mexico tomorrow. Nice, man. Nice. Is it real hot down there right now? It's about 8 degrees, but it's raining, so it'll be a nice... Humid. Nice. It can be humid. Well, enjoy yourselves. Are you just calling to brag? Well, a little bit. Don't drink the milk.
Then I'm going to. Eddie, tell him about the milk that time we went to Cancun. Eddie and I weren't on a romantic getaway. We went there. We were. He's lying. Don't be ashamed. It was lovely. It was lovely. He swept me away. Yes. No, we went there on a radio listener trip. Yeah. Neither of us drank. It was great. Well, it was a few unfortunate incidences because of drinking. Yeah, it was another time. Yeah. But yeah. The food, it was real different. Like, you know how we're used to Mexican food here? Right. Like, it was not like that there. It was real different. And I don't remember what specifically about the milk. Dude, the milk was disgusting. Yeah, I do remember that. It just tasted, didn't. Well, it wasn't like pasteurized. Yeah, yeah. So, it was. It was gross. Yeah, and be careful. Like, if you get mixed drinks here, they use ice. Yeah, get it without ice. Because that's what killed me. I got that whole Montezuma you-know-who. And it was because I was drinking mixed drinks with ice in it. I didn't use any water. I used bottled water to brush my teeth and was real careful, but I didn't even think about the ice. Dude, I felt so bad for Eddie at the airport when we were coming back. He was like shivering with the chills and everything from getting sick down there. He couldn't do the broadcast. I was so sick. We went all the way down there to do the broadcast, but he was so sick, man. It was bad.
There's a mall, a huge mall down there. Mall. The mall. Get us, guys? And every day, me and my buddies, when we went down there, we went to the mall and went to the Burger King in there and just ate that food. Did it even taste good? Yeah. It was Burger King. It didn't taste a little different? It's safe. What kind of cheese did you put on your ass? Another time. Another time. Hey, Dad. Yeah. Have you gotten a letter in the mail that, Sky, describe how this thing works? It's a letter that's sent to you telling you that you probably qualify for a lower property tax. Yes. And that if you send them a check, they will get your property tax value reassessed. Yeah, I got that letter. Did you do it or no? No, I went to the county assessors and I showed it to them. You're smart. And they said, no, don't do it. That's a private company that has nothing to do with the state of California. And then they give you a form that you fill out, and there's not a lot of questions to it. No. And they even tell you there that, you know, they can't counsel you, but they say, look. Basically what the young man said to me was, look.
Your property taxes are lower right now. If you send this in, your property taxes are going to go up. So I said, well, forget it. Wait. That does not sound true. Dad, the deal is that it's a scam. Well, no. He's saying that he actually went down to the assessor's office. Yeah. Which is the right way to do it. Yeah, exactly. Dad, you did the right thing. But this thing is a scam, though, right? Well, the letter he got in the mail is a scam to get money for a free service. But he's claiming that the guy at the assessor's office told him that it would actually make his... Oh, never mind, because you transferred your property tax when you moved, right? Yeah. That's why. There's something that you can do... They're really good about it. They told me that... That's different. Those people are just trying to make money on old... Good. Yeah. Yeah, there's something that you can do when you've lived in a house. My parents did this. I don't know the exact rules, but if you've lived in a house for so long, like say you bought your house back in the 70s, and then you have like a once-in-a-lifetime thing where you can transfer your original property tax. Are you kidding? So your parents right now are paying the property tax they paid on their Gilroy home. That's correct. Yeah, so it's a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I brought my taxes from Gilroy, so I paid less.
When I bought the house. Yes. So for you, you don't ever want to change that. It's just for people who have bought a home here in the county within the last five or six years who are paying that tax price. Hey, Dad. Mike? Yeah, yeah. Skye was my counselor. She was the one that told me how to do that. That's right back in the day when I moved here. I do remember that. Hey, Pop. Yeah. Where are you going to take your beautiful bride for Valentine's Day tomorrow? You going to go out to dinner or something? You don't have to tell me what restaurant, but tell me if you guys are going to do something. I think we are. Yeah? That's a no. Oh, no. Danny, get on it. Yeah, Dad, you got to figure it out, you know? You don't want her going out and, well, finding somebody else. Oh, no, I don't think that's going to happen. They've been married over 50 years. Yeah, so you got to make sure that she's a happy lady. Right. Yeah, listen, Dad. He's like, listen, punk kid, I don't need to be told what to do. That's right. You guys have a wonderful day. I love you, Pop. Thanks, Danny. I love you guys. I love you guys. I love you. Thanks for saying that. I'll see you. That's my dad. He's the best. He's something else. He's something else, that guy. 5701053 is a phone number. And, yeah, give us a call. You call us about anything you want to right now. We would love to hear from you. Skye, what do you got going on?

They're doing their open house out there, which is a lot of fun. You know, the Supercross guys are out there. They got a lot of cool stuff. It's like an open house. Come out, hang out. So I will be at Escondido. Are you going to ride a bike? Duh. Hello. Yeah. I mean, I'm going to ride my bike there. Yeah. Well, it's a unison. You should say what it is. And so that, again, will be at Escondido. Pictures, guys. Shut up. On a unicycle. Yeah. Awesome. How about we don't? Thank you. Her and Boo on a tandem bike. Yes. Love it. So the open house tonight at Escondido Cycle Center, where I'm going to be hanging out, I'll be there from 545 to 715 tonight. So come say hi, Keith. There you go. And I will be making an appearance with my neti pot. Oh, no. That's gross, Mike. At some point. You know? No. Sir. Let's see. 570-1053. It's like volumes. Not sure. At the end of the show on Friday, I give you my testimony. That is my story. It's the reason, it's certainly part of the reason that I believe that I'm alive.
I believe that it's part of the reason that if you've ever thought to yourself, what am I here for? What's my purpose in life? For me, that's what I'm about to tell you. When I was a kid, when I was little, I was fearful of everything. I thought I was, I feared getting kidnapped because there were stories I remember when I was a kid about that. And I had a lot of, you know, just... Random fears. And I think that part of it came from the fact that when I was five, I was sexually abused. It's just hard to say. Look back on it now. It's 32 years later. I'm 38. I think there's more to the story, and I think that's the beauty of it, you know? When I got into high school, I was a pretty insecure guy. Pretty insecure guy.
And I always thought that I thought differently than other people thought. That my thoughts were unusual, and they probably were. That I was unusual. That I was not very wanted or desired. And that created a sense of low self-esteem and loneliness. Same loneliness that some of you that are listening right now might feel. It's that same sense of loneliness. When I got into my 20s, I started to drink. In my late 20s, I started to use drugs. When I was in my early 30s, I was doing both too much. My oldest brother asked me one time, aren't you concerned that we have alcoholism in our family? And I said, yeah, I'm concerned. You know, that's why I got to keep it under control. But you don't know that one day you don't have a problem and then the next day you do.
It just happens slowly over time. And so pretty soon I had a problem. It was much heavier than I should have been. I'd already had gastric bypass surgery. I was smoking cigarettes. And I was drinking large, large amounts of alcohol. And I had some other issues too. One time I'd had an eating disorder. And I was hiding it from everybody. Everyone. Nobody knew my secrets. I'm letting you know I'm in the air, but nobody knew what my secrets were. I had an issue, but they didn't know. necessarily that when i was at home i was closing those blinds and turning ringers off and checking out if you're listening right now experiencing anything like what i just described or maybe you're going through uh some real severe depression or maybe you are experiencing a divorce or a breakup or you've lost somebody really close to you or you're losing somebody really close to you
or you have any kind of addiction. The reason that I think that God let me live through that period of time is so that I could come on the radio at the end of the show on Fridays and tell you that when I was at that point where I was closing the blinds and I was 33 and I was overweight and I was drinking and I was addicted to alcohol, I gave my life to Jesus Christ one night. I'm into my life and take control of it. Messed up. Not at all. handsome, successful guy. He did not pick that in me. He picked somebody that I can tell you today, I'm so blessed and happy and things are so different. Things are so different. Tell you, it's going to be a bunch of sunshine and roses because it isn't always sunshine and roses. Sometimes it's bad. I'm just telling you that it changed my life. It changed my life. So if you're going through any of that stuff, go to Mikey show.com. M I K E Y S H O W.com.
And there is a place on the website that you can type in a keyword. Type in the keyword help, and there's a whole bunch of stuff on there. If you're new in town, or maybe you're not even new in town, and you're like, hey, man, where do you go to church, Mikey? I go to a place called North Coast Church in Vista. You can find them on the interweb, northcoastchurch.com. And this weekend's going to be awesome. It's about facing fears. You could all use that. So I play this song about hope at the end of the show. This song is all about hope. It's by a band called Third Day. And I love it because the lyrics are so powerful. Have a really great weekend, everybody. Got a big announcement to make on Tuesday. Have a great three-day weekend. We'll see you again on Tuesday. Go see Sky. And we'll check you out then. Mikey Show is out lately.
