Mikey, Skye, Eddie, Sean, Ashley, and Boston Rob mixed personal stories with arguments about relationships, privacy, food, and why some risks feel acceptable. In the Secret Crush bit, Craig confessed his feelings to Renee on air, denied having a girlfriend, and secured a date at George's. Third Day performed acoustically, Mark Lee recalled nearly missing a Grammy acceptance while in the bathroom, and Mikey explained how the band's music supported his conversion and break from an alcohol-centered past. The crew also reacted to a Navy satellite interception, a Chevy Nova crashing through a Vista roof, and new Wolverine casting, while their sharpest debates concerned Colleen's socially transformed boyfriend, Skye's open bathroom door, and Sean's selective germophobia.
What happened, in order
Shuttle memories
As Atlantis landed, Mikey and the crew compared childhood memories of an underwhelming first shuttle landing with the shock of hearing that Challenger had exploded.
Make the knife sing
Sean described a home knife-skills lesson from Nikki in which his wife grew frustrated by the oversized knife and Nikki's repeated instruction to make it sing.
Two personalities
The hosts debated Colleen's complaint that her quiet boyfriend becomes the life of the party around her friends, arguing over whether he is performing for approval or simply more relaxed in groups.
Shoot down the satellite
The crew excitedly discussed the Navy's plan to fire a missile from the USS Lake Erie at a falling satellite after Atlantis was safely back on Earth.
Craig's secret crush
Craig used the Secret Crush bit to tell classmate Renee that he missed her and wanted to take her to George's, and she accepted after confirming that he did not have a girlfriend.
Wolverine casting chaos
Skye tried to report Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, and will.i.am as John Wraith while Mikey and the others buried the announcement under superhero and celebrity-name jokes.
Third Day live
Third Day joined Mikey for acoustic performances and Grammy stories, including Mark Lee learning in the bathroom that the band had won and sprinting toward the stage.
Music after conversion
Mikey told Third Day that his wife introduced him to their music after his Christian conversion and that it helped him imagine a new life beyond his history with alcohol.
The open-door debate
Skye admitted that she often uses the bathroom with the door open, prompting Eddie, Ashley, and Mikey to argue that some bodily routines should remain private from a spouse.
Nova through the roof
The show recounted an apparent Vista prank in which someone lifted a 1966 Chevy Nova onto a business roof, only for it to crash through the ceiling and rupture the sprinkler system.
The selective germaphobe
Mikey and Eddie challenged Sean's germophobia because he scrutinizes their dishes but embraces rough-looking Vietnamese, Moroccan, Indian, and Ethiopian restaurants for authentic food.

Wednesday, everybody. It's a Mikey show. It is 6-0-6. Three men were convicted yesterday on a total of 76 charges in the October 2006 Mission Beach rape and home invasion robbery. The Jason Kidd trade to the Dallas Mavericks finally goes through. Kidd returns to Dallas. Seems like there's a lot of NBA trading going on. A little bit. In fact, I think... Kobe and Shaq are going to play tonight, right? Well, Shaq is making his son's debut against Kobe and the Lakers. Wow. Now, is that the same conference? Yes. So will they be playing each other? Does it work like baseball and football where you're in the same conference, you play a lot more, that kind of deal? Yeah. That's kind of interesting, right? Uh-huh. We're going to see more of that matchup. Yep. They don't care much for each other. No, not good friends. Kobe and Shaq do not hang out.
Space Shuttle Atlantis landing as we speak right now. There's a live shot of the Shuttle Atlantis, I guess. It must be Florida because it looks like it's real bright outside. Yeah, it was either going to be Florida or California and it doesn't lift up right here. Do you guys remember when the very first Space Shuttle went up and came back down? Yeah. Do you guys remember that? Uh-uh. Sean, you do, right? Yeah. I was in the fifth grade. And it was a real big deal. And we got to watch it on TV. So did we. You did too? Yeah. It was like a super big deal, man. Really? Yeah, man. They had like the whole school together, you know. Oh. You know. When we landed on the moon? It was like when we landed on the moon. Was that when it was? No, no, no. That was 1969 that we landed on the moon. I wasn't born yet when we. I apologize. That's okay. It's all right. I wasn't alive when they. Well, it's not all right. When we landed on the moon. Oh, we're these. dedication dumb and dumber quote for you. Yeah, Sean. Thanks for appreciating it. Whoa. Oh, no. Whoa. Hothead. That's part of the reason they broke up. Yeah, yeah. That's the reason why. Yeah, they had a TV in there and I remember thinking it wasn't that cool. Aww. I remember thinking it wasn't that cool at all. It looked like an airplane to me. And I thought to myself, well, I've seen airplanes land before.
And I don't remember much of an explanation. I remember asking why it was a big deal. I don't remember how I phrased it, but I remember asking why it was a big deal. And I remember the teacher being a little offended by such a question. It's a space shuttle. I mean, this thing went into space. And I didn't question it anymore, but I remember thinking, well, man, it seems like we've kind of done, we've been down that road, haven't we? That whole space thing, we've done that. Gone in there. Yeah, let me know when we're on Mars. Yeah. You know, if we were landing from Mars, that'd be cool, but this looked like an airplane. When you find an alien, let us know. Yeah, I'm all in on thinking that's good. Hey, bring the TV in here. Oh, yeah. Let's all check it out. Yeah. Now, the space shuttle blowing up, that was a big deal. Now, that I remember. Yeah. Tragic, yeah. Because I remember because a friend of mine, Aaron Koch. Yeah. He was walking past me in the hallways at school and said, the space shuttle blew up. And I said, you're a jerk. Because I thought he was messing around. And I walked right by him and then I walked into my class and all the girls were crying. Yeah, girls cried in high school. Girls cry in tragedy. And, you know, in junior high, you know, girls cry during tragedy. I don't get that. I think it's kind of contagious. You know, I don't know that really.
There's one girl that kicks it off. She's like the carrier, the monkey. Yeah, when you see that girl, it's like somebody just turned on a really sad song. You know what I mean? I remember I was the girl that couldn't ever make myself cry for real. You wanted to be a part of it, right? I felt like I wasn't fitting in, so I would fake cry. No joke. Just so I could be one of the girls. Yeah, you want to be part of it. Now I cry all the time just on my own. Got that figured out. Got the whole crying thing down. That's so interesting to me. The guys, though, the guys do not cry. The guys are, whoa. I was fascinated. They brought in the TV and let us watch all the coverage. And I remember, I think we even had the next day off. Because I remember watching a lot of stuff on TV. In high school and growing up in general, I loved tragic events. I really did. It always meant a change in... The routine. And it was exciting. And people were, you know, teachers were worried. And I felt like I didn't have anything personally to worry about. But I enjoyed the calamity and the mayhem that would ensue. And I oddly enjoyed all the girls crying. You know, what's going on with these girls crying? But anyway, so that's a deal. My name is Mikey.
And I am 37 years old. In May, I'll be 38 years old, which will, I think, officially for me be my my upper 30s. Is that what upper lower late late? That's right. My late 30s is what I'll be in. And that will be a bit of a downer for me to be in those 30s. I would rather be in my lower 20s. Yes, wouldn't we all? Knowing what I know. That's what I would like. Listen, everybody's different. Last night at dinner, I switched dinners in mid-dinner. Well, my wife made these vegetables and chicken, which was delicious. She's improved her cooking skills and it tasted really good. But I was obsessing on the chili con carne that me and my dad made. I was obsessing on it. It's a little bit of the chicken and vegetables, and I had a switch. I had to make a change in my life at that moment. Wow. So what did you do with the nice meal your wife had prepared you? I put it in a container, and I said, I'm going to eat it today. Are you going to eat it today? Yeah, I'm sure. Maybe. I mean, I might do something weird with it, like put it in a sandwich or a burrito. Okay. All right. I like to take vegetables sometimes and put them in a burrito. Okay. I feel like everything's good in a burrito. I'm Mexican.
Eddie is our producer, our sports guy. I put something on my blog that I was going to talk about this morning too. Some strange thing. Oh, it's about pumping gas. I realized that pumping gas is a really boring thing to do. It really is, man. When you're sitting there pumping that gas, I don't like to talk on the cell phone because somebody in our listening audience one time suggested that your phone will blow up in your face. And forever, you know, sort of, yeah, that it'll ignite you, you know, that you could spontaneously ignite into flames. I've never heard that. You have now. Be worried. They got him alive. That's right. I heard this. I heard it. I'd never heard it. It's probably a wife's tale, even though there's signs at the gas station that say don't use your phone. But so I don't use the phone. And so I'm sitting, I am usually standing there and then there's no, I don't, I don't have a radio or television.
And there's nothing to do with my hands. And I'm usually listening. You've got to go to those shells. Shell's got the TVs now. Oh, wow. Oh, yeah, dude. It's awesome. Really? It's all I go to. Is there anything good on? Well, they show commercials for new... I think they have a deal with NBC. And so they show little snippets from The Office or Saturday Night Live. That's enough. Conan clips. You get commercials in there, too, for their products and stuff like that. But it's really cool, man. It kills the time. Yeah, that's enough for me. You're switching. You realize how whacked out we are that we need this kind of stimulation? It's pathetic. It's just pathetic, man. Like that I need that kind of stimulation, but I do. I really need that. Like, Jake doesn't like TV anymore. He went through the stage where my 17-month-old son, he's not entertained by it anymore. Now he wants to play. Really? And you guys, I am making such an attempt to play with my son. I really am, man. I'm making such an attempt to play with him. How's it going? Not really that great, you know? Not really that great. You know, it kind of blows. He's just so attached to his mom.
And he's saying that mama. And so he's just attached to her at the hip. And he doesn't know how to show affection. And so he does it in a very primal way. He'll like start to bite her. Like in the form of a kiss, he'll bite. Like in an affectionate thing. And she has to teach him, no, you can't bite when you love me. And sometimes it really upsets him because it's like somebody telling you, stop loving me. We're trying to teach him what a kiss is. Eddie is our producer and our sports guy. He's 34 years old. Anything new going on with Eddie? Well, you know, talking about gas, pumping gas just reminded me of a conversation I had over the weekend with one of my cousins whose husband's mother has never pumped her own gas. Ever. Ever? Ever. And I was like, whoa. Well, first of all, that reminds me of Sky. Right. I know exactly what that's like. Yes. What's the story? Shut up. And? It just blew me away. Like, I guess, you know, back in the day, she would either have her husband pump the gas for her. A gentleman. Or she would always go to self-service. You know, the people. Full service. Full service, I mean. Yeah. What does she do now? In that town where she lives, they still have full-service gas stations. Wow. Which I'm like.
I haven't seen those in 20 years. I can't imagine what it's like to pull up and have somebody pump your gas. Clean your windshield. And when they did that, you didn't have to give them money. You didn't have to tip them. It was part of the deal. It was part of the deal. I think, right? Yeah. I think you paid a little bit more. Yeah, there's one in Coronado, I think. For the full service, it's like a dollar more per gallon. Yeah, back east, they have them everywhere. Full service? Oh, yeah. In New Jersey, you're not allowed to pump your own gas. That's the only place I've ever... Why are you not allowed to? I don't know what the law is. They think you'll steal it. Job security. Yeah, but in Jersey, you don't even get out of your car. It was weird. I think it's the same way in, like, Oregon as well. Hmm. Huh, weird. That is weird. I would like that, though, wouldn't you, Eddie? Oh, heck yeah. I don't mind having somebody to pump my gas. Yeah, I'll take it. It really is wonderful, guys. Shut up. I have to tell you. It's remarkable. You guys should look into it. Yes, it's a remarkable thing when the boo is pumping that stuff. My people do it for me. You all need to get a bunny boo. That's right. Everyone deserves one bunny boo once in their life. It really is wonderful. Good gentleman. Thank you. Check under the hood, too. Whatever. Please. Check the oil level, will you?
And vulcanize those tires post-haste. What? That's not even mean. Yeah, you pull your Cadillac up when you're in Jersey. And you go, yeah, I want you to talk it off and make it quick, will you? Hey, if you hear something back there, we hit a goat. A goat? In Jersey? Yeah, we stuck a goat. But we don't have goats here in Jersey. No, he's there. We bought him. Yeah, we got the paw stuck in there. Okay, sirs. We hit him pretty hard. That's why he's bleeding so bad. Yeah, yeah. But what's this piece of coat right here? That's my wife's coat. Thank you. You're trying to clean off the front of it. The goat was wearing your wife's coat. Yeah, the weird thing is a goat was wearing a coat when we hit it. Your wife's coat. My wife's coat when we hit it. While we hit it. Calvary Steeds. Stealing my wife's coat. Yeah, that happens. So we showed him a lesson about 14 times. Okay, I don't think I want to know. Skye is our news girl. She's 30 years of age. Hi. And she is very cold in the morning. That's true. As are a lot of women. That sounds good.
Throws on a coat. Oh, listen to that. Oh, really? Sky, you like ham, right? Not ham's good. Oh, no! We were having a sandwich contest. We were eating sandwiches and commenting on them. You didn't hear that from anybody else, though. That's right. Well, I'm sure you did say that. No, we didn't. You didn't isolate the clip and pull it and make sure Sean got in. No, we didn't. Not ham's good. Someone loves ham. Sky, anything new? No. No, just feeling a little sleep deprived, a little icky. I watched American Gangster yesterday because it came out on DVD and the husband had wanted to see it in the theaters the whole time. In the what? Shut up. So we got it on DVD and had to watch it immediately and was up all night long because I was having dreams that I was like being forced to inject heroin and I was on heroin and everyone around me was selling heroin and I was having to talk with my mom while I'm high on heroin. And like I kept waking up and trying to go back to bed and yeah, wasn't happening all night long. That's why I don't watch scary movies.
I have nightmares about them. Yeah, I guess it was intense, that movie, I guess. Sky is a heroin salesman. Apparently. I guess so. I got a little tired today. Movie good? Yeah, I mean, I enjoyed it because, yeah, I mean, it kind of had the gruesome parts where I had to, like, cover my eyes, you know. Benzel. That's the reason I like it, too. Well, he was great. He's a wonderful performer. I'm not going to lie. Stunning, by the way. It was a great performance. But, yeah, it was good. It was really intense. Yes. Anyway. Well, yeah, so it was a bit tingly. Sean is our sound effects guy, and he is 37 years of age, but not for long. Only for about five more weeks. And he'll be turning 38 on iTunes. I believe...
It's one of the early dates. Yeah. Is it March 1st? No, no, no. You're close. No, I think it's closer to normally when like Easter is. Like a week before my birthday. Oh, that's right. That's right. March 30th? March 30th. It's the same month as Eddie. It's a holiday or something, right? That's right. It's exactly one week before my birthday. Oh, so yours is on the 8th. Isn't it like on, yeah, what day? It's Fool's Day. Oh, the April the 1st. Day of the Fools, I think they call it. That is what they call it. The Day of the Fools. Yeah, wasn't Sean born on the day of the fools? The most foolish day of the year. That is what my calendar says. So happy birthday early to you, Sean. Just kidding. To the oldest person on the show. That's right. Anything new going on, Sean? My wife and I had someone come over and teach us knife skills, like chef knife skills. the house i thought you were you know she was like on a big board taped down and they spin her and you were you know throwing the things it wasn't like that they came over and showed you the knife skills well we did that later but yeah but they were knives and my wife got very frustrated she did yeah she she's like the knife's too big i don't like the way they're instructing me and was it one guy that came over
No, you know who it was? It was Nikki, our friend Nikki. Oh, right, right, right. Yeah, so she works at Sur La Table now and teaches a lot of classes there. So for my wife's birthday, she gave us a knife skills class, which she also teaches there. Right. So she kept saying this thing like, when you move your knife back and forth, she calls it making the knife sing. And so she's like, I want to hear your knife sing. I want to hear your knife sing. And my wife's like, I don't know what that means. She's getting really frustrated. I took the same class at Sur La Table for knife skills. And I took it with, you guys know Chef Tom. Oh, yeah? And he said one of the coolest things ever. He said, make sure whatever knife you have fits in your hand and feels really cut. Like, you know, Rob would use like a paring knife. Oh, okay. I don't even know what that is. And so, you know, whatever it is, it's got to be fit really well in your hand. So I wonder if that was the case, Shawnee. She needed to find one she really liked in her hand. Possibly. She gets really frustrated, and once that happens, no matter what you do or what you say, she's in a foul mood, and it's like she's not going to come out of it. She checks out. Yeah, pretty much. Mentally, she checks out. Did you learn how to chef a nod? Yeah, dude. We learned all that stuff. It was really great. There you go. All the different cuts. Chef a nod is where you take the lettuce or the basil, whatever, you twist it up into a little cigar, and then you cut it, and it makes those little strings.
Ashley is our assistant producer. She is 24 years of age. And I told her this morning, you are skinny. Really? She's lost a lot of weight. I'm in the 20s. That's right. She's 24. No, the 120s, man. Ash, what's going on with you? Anything new? Something exciting happening in your life? Not really. Like, yesterday was just trippy. And I gotta say, like, I was feeling kind of crappy still. And then I went to yoga. And I came out of yoga, like, shot out of a cannon. Like, practically 100%. Like, I'm telling you, it's... Like, what? What are you doing that thing? What is that yoga class all about? You know what, man? It's a lot of just... It's in a 95-degree room, so it's heated. So, like, that sauna, that heat, that sauna... all that sweat is so good for your body. You're cleansing. John's a germaphobe. I bet that sounds good. Because I don't know if you know this, but especially with women, we don't realize that we aren't breathing. You don't take full breaths throughout the day, and it'll even start to make you tired because you're not breathing enough. Because if you think about it,
A whole full breath is a lot more than what people usually give. And to get that lung capacity and to give the full strength of it. And so with an hour of yoga, you're breathing the whole time in, out. And it just, it really helps to, like, I really think it has a lot to do with helping me to have more energy and made me feel a lot better. Oh, that sounds really good for you and good. I'm glad you're doing all that. Sky, if you're like... tired it's probably because you're not you're breathing from like only your diaphragm you need to be breathing from your like take deep breaths and really be using your full lunch okay thank you don't laugh at me no I'm sorry I apologize I think what you're saying that's terrible really rude I think what you're saying she's trying to share No, I think what you're saying is great. It's just Mike keeps IMing me, and it's very distracting, and he wants me to ask you something, and I keep telling him to leave me alone and to leave me out of it. So it's his fault. And go away.
But he really wants me to ask you something and he won't leave me alone. What is it? Leave her alone! Well, he wants to know if Ashley... Sky wants to know. Sky's asking a question independent of me. I have a whole list of IMs. I'm not asking anything. Mike wants to know if Ashley has a boyfriend yet. Oh. I was just... Oh, no. Skye, what an inappropriate question, Skye. A little personal, Skye. That's a very personal question. That's why I said leave me out of it. What a personal question, but since you've asked... Skye, I'm trying to educate you on bleeding. This is out there. This is out there. This is out there. I wonder... I know. I just said that. Thank you for saying that. Yeah. Well, anyway, thank you for saying that, Skye. Something else. Boston Rob is our phone screener. Look at that smile. Short stuff. Oh, wow. Holy cow. Wow. Where are my midgets? I don't know what that means. Oh, okay. Well, because you're sitting to the left. Oh, got it. Oh, man. Well, Boston Rob, listen. He is our phone screener. He's a singer-songwriter of parody songs. Short? Well, yeah, sure. Fun fact.
He's 5'2 and a half. I'm not overweight. Wow. You know what that's going to do. What? That's going to make her lose even more weight. That's not good. Anyway, Boston Rob, whenever I say Boston Rob and I introduce him in the morning, he flashes a great big smile. Good to be here. That's right. So Rob, what's new with you? Nothing much. All right. For real. Same stuff, right? Yeah, I'm in the works of this other song that's just giving me a lot of trouble, but I think I... Writer's block. Yeah, well, yeah, I'm just not smart enough to write it. That's what I came down to last night. I'm really not. Yeah. But I think I'm cracking the code. There you go. Keep working it. Good luck. For real. And the scribe. Zets22, youngest member of the show. That's right. He's just a barber. Seth, how are you? Anything new and happening in your life? Nah, I fell asleep at like 5.30 last night. Oh, my God. What time did you get up? Like 3.30. Yeah. I hope that depression lifts pretty soon. Oh, come on, Charlie Brown. He's just tired.
Yeah, Valtrex really does. It changes that frown. Side effects, but I mean, you need it. Takes away the constant weeping. 570-1053 is our phone number, and you can give us a call at the beginning and end of every show. P1 Damon, what's up? Damon! Damon! What's going on? Hey, not much. Hey, when you guys were talking about when the shuttle blew up, I just wanted to say, I was actually in... Orlando, Florida at the time. I'd just come out of the lunchroom going to recess, and I just happened to look up to watch it launch, and that's when it blew up. I got to actually see it happen. You were in Cape Canaveral at the time? I was in Orlando, so you could look up and you could see the trail from when it would be going into space. That must have been a really freaky thing to see as a kid. I actually didn't realize what was going on at the time right away. It took me a few minutes to actually figure out what had happened. Right. Oh, man. What an interesting deal. Thanks for the call. P1 Big Dog is on the line. Hey, good morning, Mikey. What's up? Hey, I was listening about your pumping gas bit and about the cell phone hold. You know what? That's a bunch of hooey. If you ever watch the greatest show in the world, Mythbusters, they proved it wrong.
I think I've proved it wrong a couple of times, you know? I mean, we're being honest. There's a sign. Yeah, there's a sign that says don't do it, but I've done it before, and I'm not going to, you know, tempt fate. I don't want to keep trying it, even though those dudes on Mythbusters, they figure stuff out, but I don't know. Maybe the time they tried it, you know, just the right mojo wasn't going on. The one time we do it, then we're going to explode. Uh-huh. Exactly. P1 Haji is on the line. Hello, good sir. How are you? Good morning. Hello, Haji. What's the P1 all about? What's the P stand for? Oh, it's a guy from last week that's a little daffy. Oh, careful now. Careful what? We playing with fires this morning. What's P stand for? What's this dehumanization process of the Mikey Listener Show? P stands for probably crazy. And the one? So you're P1. Yep, I think you are. Yeah, I come out of a cuckoo clock on a stick. Ha ha ha. Well, Haji. I'm lying to you every chance I get. There you go. I want to talk about yoga. How much would you guys give for this guy to be in that big brother house? Hello, yuppie yoga larva. Hello, yuppie yoga larva. What can I do for you today? I would like to barbecue Sky on rye bread with mustard in public on Pacific Beach. Wow, that sounds great. Well, listen.
Whenever you call in, I'm going to do non-sequiturs too, alright, Vanilla Face? Well, you crazy old surfer. I went to McDonald's when there were only four served. I'm crazy. There you go. Yes, sir. P1 Herald. Good morning, Mikey Show. What's happening? Hey, you're talking about that answer in your cell phone deal next to the pumps. Right. Maybe Mythbusters did prove it wrong, but maybe there is an inkling of a chance that it can happen. I actually saw a video on YouTube of a guy picking up his phone pumping gas. It must have been the surveillance cameras from the gas station. And that sucker blew up, man. Somewhere on YouTube. That's all I needed to hear. There you go. Ask the Google master. She can find it. That's all I needed to hear, dude. The myth is busted. The myth is busted.
Have a good day. Thank you. I think that's irresponsible, those busters of myth. Yeah. Hey, who knows what could happen? Right. So much stuff to talk about. First of all, Lindsay Lohan's mother's, you know, kind of crazy response to her doing the nude photographs for... I think she'll get an Academy Award for this picture. Maybe. Pictures. Pictures. Pictures. I don't know about that. At least a golden globe. Wow. Hey, wink, wink. I see. She might win too. Who knows? Just have to wait and keep our fingers crossed. So anyway, we'll be talking about that. And the judge has denied a gag order on Britney Spears. A lot of people wanted to, you know, I guess stick a sock in her mouth. No, that's not what that means. And he said, I don't think that's healthy for her. That's not what that means. So anyway. We'll talk a little bit about that as the morning goes on. On the show today, Lyrical Gangsta is going to be happening at 7 o'clock. So if you know song lyrics, we want you to call in for that segment just after 7 o'clock. We're going to get everybody coming out for this big next challenge that we have going on between Eddie and B-Rob.
full-on live broadcast that everybody's invited to come and take part in that's going to be in Carlsbad at K1 Racing. And, Eddie, have you put any thought into this thing, or are you feeling confident? I'm not. I wouldn't say I'm 1,000% confident. I'm worried about... Get your head in the game, man! I just don't know how it's going to be until I get into the car. Eddie, I know exactly how it's going to be. You're going to whoop short stuff. Chill town. You're going to whoop short stuff. I doubt it. There you go. Ashley's in my pick room. Oh, there it is. Also on the show today, back by popular demand, a little thing called Secret Crush is going to be. People trying to let other people know, I like you. And the band Third Day will be in the studio doing a little acoustic stuff for you. They're playing at House of Blues tonight. And you could still get tickets, Ticketmaster, if you want to go. And I'm sure you could walk up and get tickets at House of Blues. So those guys will be in in a little bit. Dave Attell and the Stand-Up Spotlight. You've got to make your own little fun. That's the way I see it. Go out, have a couple of drinks. Why not? You know, my drink is Jack Daniels. U.S. history is taking place. Well, this all goes back to, we were talking about this a couple weeks when it came out, that undercover video that was shot by the Humane Society showing really sick and crippled cows being shoved around with forklifts and, you know. And a lot of this beef went to the school. It went to schools and old folks' homes. That's awesome. Yeah, that's really, really, really great. So, I mean. Great. Fresh. Yeah, great. Over here, barf. The Mikey Show continues. Back to the Mikey Show. It is 641. Former Poway defense contractor Brent Wilkes was sentenced to 12 years yesterday for bribing Randy Duke Cunningham. The Essex got a much-needed win over Wyoming last night, 79-68. Did you see who his defense attorney was? Yep. Mark Garagos. Oh.
Mark Garagos, yeah. That guy defends a lot of people that end up getting, you know, hammered. Yes. I don't know that I've heard of a Mark Garagos case yet where it's like, they're off, you know, they've got to quit it. It's always bad. I don't know why people keep hiring Mark Garagos. Cut 60. Anytime a defendant takes the stand, and I tell defendants that, if you lose... Your version is not the truth. History is written by whoever wins the case. Well, congratulations. Hey, Sky, you were telling me that apparently somebody is dating this guy named Aaron. It's a big star. Jennifer Aniston is dating this guy, Aaron Eckhart. I've never heard of him. Eddie, you know who that is, right? Yes. Who is he? He played the boyfriend in Aaron Brockovich. He's been in a bunch of different movies. He most recently was in that terrible movie, No Reservations, with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Is he in The Devil's Rejects? I don't think so. What's the deal? Well, they say the rumor is, the word on the street is that Jen Aniston and Aaron Eckhart, who are currently filming a movie together, are getting romantic.
Sexy, sexy time. She loves those co-stars. She does. She falls in love with every one of them. So, Lindsay Lohan's mother thinks that she's going to get an Academy Award for these pictures. I think she'll get an Academy Award for this picture. But, you know, we were talking about it yesterday. Lindsay Lohan's appeared naked in New York Magazine. And it's her homage to Marilyn Monroe, who she's a big fan of. Marilyn Monroe did the same types of pictures back in the 60s. And they're not fully nude. She's like, you know, covering herself in a scarf. But the scarf is see-through. It's that kind of deal. Well, one's totally topless. What is? No scarf. No scarf involved. Just the bear in the jewels? Yes. So, okay. So, anyway, her mom says, good job. I'm a fan. Way to go. Way to go. Really? Wow. Yeah, I guess her mom's totally supportive of it. Doesn't surprise me. Her mom says it was very tastefully done, and she respects the photographer as an artist, so she looks at those pictures artistically, and the fact that Lindsay was even considered to emulate Marilyn Monroe is an honor. Didn't she have just sang happy birthday to the president? Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, that's a good point. A little weird. Yeah.
The whole thing is just bizarre, man. And then last night, I guess, were primaries in Wisconsin. And Barack Obama won again. Tenth straight win. Tenth straight win. Killing it. Let's see. This is his speech after winning. Cut 26. We just heard that we won tonight in Wisconsin. Nanny, nanny, boo-boo. Who do you rip this piece off from? I am grateful to the people of Wisconsin for their friendship and their support and their extraordinary civic pride. In Wisconsin, when you go to vote, it's five degrees outside. But that has not deterred people from Milwaukee.
to Green Bay, to Eau Claire, all across that state from casting their ballot and exercising their civic duty. I think Dana Carvey gave his speech Saturday night live. We also have a caucus in Hawaii tonight. It's too early to know how that will turn out. But it's too early to know. But we do know this. We do know this, Houston. The change we seek is still months and miles away. And we need the good people of Texas to help us get there. And if y'all open your hymnals to page 45, and then John McGain, he did it up for the Republicans, right? Yep. So he's still getting the delegates. Yep, in Wisconsin and Washington State. He's got to be pretty close now, right? Yeah, for the Republican nomination, they need 1,191 delegates. McCain has 918.
so and then the next you know in second place is huckabee with 217 so cut 28 thank you thank you my friends for your support and dedication to our campaign and thank you wisconsin for bringing us to the point where even a superstitious naval aviator can claim with confidence and humility that i will be our party's nominee for president of the united states i wonder if hillary was uh in a good mood last night when she gave her speech cut 27 to be here with all of you thank you and tonight i want to talk to you about the choice you have in this election and why that choice matters it is about picking a president who relies not just on words
but on work on hard work to get america back to work think about what we're really comparing in this election you know we can't just have speeches we've got to have solutions and we need those solutions for america we've got to get america back in the solutions business because while words matter The best words in the world aren't enough unless you match them with action. Boy, she is hammering away at that, isn't she? She's going to keep hammering. She's so bad. Even her supporters don't know when... Are we supposed to clap here? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think... That's not the part you're supposed to clap! Oh, I'm sorry.
And furthermore, I want to remind everyone that... Hang on! Thank you so much. I think we're supposed to clap. To my supporters. Are we going to get punished? Thank you! Wait! Doesn't she sound like she's about to ground somebody? She's reaching for the wooden spoon. She's going to time out. Every time. It's like she's angry. Oh, did you guys hear about how NBC had to apologize to Obama? Did you guys hear about this? No. Dude, so they're talking about Obama and they mistakenly put up a picture of Osama. Get out of here. How do you mess that up? Right? It happened on MSNBC.
NBC hardball with host Chris Matthews. And just went down like Mikey said. The network NBC says that it's an inexcusable mistake. It was made by an unidentified employee in their graphics department who has been punished. Who's been punished. Yes. Yeah. I heard they pulled his guts out right in front of everybody. Tonight, by the way, will be a full. And total lunar eclipse. I'm excited. I'm excited. Yeah, me too. I'll go out and look at it. Yeah, so it's going to last a while. Now, if everything is all clear, everyone should have a great view. You don't need binoculars or a telescope or anything. You can see it clear as day. So hopefully the skies will be clear, but it'll start at about a quarter to six with the partial eclipse. We'll be in a total eclipse at about 7 o'clock, lasting to about 8 o'clock, and then again a partial eclipse. up till nine o'clock. So it all kicks off at about six, but the good stuff is between seven and seven fifty when it'll be the total eclipse. And they said there'll be like some reddish. Let's do this. Well, Ashley is sending me. This has been an issue for a couple of days. Ashley sending me messages that your microphone is real hot. I'll set the mood. Sit on Eddie's lap and do the show that way. Just do news from, you know, we'll even rename the feature, you know, news from Eddie's lap. And then we'll, you know. I like it. Meanwhile, I would like to read you guys an email.
And get your guys' take on this. See what you guys think about this. It says, hey, Mikey and gang, I got a situation. I've been dating this guy for about four months and everything's going pretty good. He's a very nice guy and all my friends and family really like him is the problem. He acts really different around them than he does with me when we're alone. He's real mellow and not the most talkative person. Uh, And not the most talkative person when we are alone. Which is fine, because I'm that way too. But when we get around my friends, he becomes this other person. Life of the party. It's like, who is this guy? Well, I took him to a family party last weekend. And he acted the same way. Like the most outgoing guy that you'll ever meet. My family really likes him. I'm starting to think he's putting on a show, which is weird. I don't know what to think.
Have you ever met anyone like that? Thanks. P1 Colleen. Now, it is interesting. It is interesting. When they're together, when they're alone, he's very mellow and he's not the most talkative person. When he gets around people, he is talkative. Life of the party. I don't know how I feel about this. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean, you'd almost think it would be the opposite. Like he'd be comfortable around you and then weird when he's around people. And that'd be cool. That'd be fine because you wouldn't even trip. You'd just be like, oh, he's kind of shy. But yeah, the opposite's weird. The opposite is so weird that I don't know what to make of it. I mean, I don't know. I can't quite put my finger on there's something necessarily wrong about it other than...
Oh, man, I am so confused. Eddie, what do you think? I would think she would think that was cool. You know, I mean, you know, the fact that her friends and her family, he's able to talk to them. They like him. Like, I would be like, oh, that's cool. You know? Yeah, I would, too. In fact, I think that the only issue that I have is why is he quiet around you? Yeah, that's a little odd. Yeah, but maybe like. Maybe that's what she likes about him. She like digs the fact that he's kind of quiet and she finds that attractive. And then to see this kind of like life of the party guy is like, you know, it's probably kind of a turnoff. If you're into a quiet guy. I'm thinking about myself and I am I'm off the air. I'm pretty quiet. And I'm like that, you know, kind of with my wife and I'm kind of the same way. In other settings. So I'm trying to think what it would be like if I, you know, got out into a family setting and suddenly became this other guy where I was, you know, maybe he thinks that's what she wants. Yeah, I mean, that's funny. You guys think that's a deal? That he thinks that that's what she wants? Maybe, maybe this, you know, it seems kind of weird, but maybe he is more comfortable in a group setting.
Then one-on-one. One-on-one. Maybe he's nervous around her. How long have they been going around? They've been going out four months. Well, gosh. That'd be kind of weird. Is this his first girlfriend? Yeah. He's really nervous. Maybe he has intimacy problems. Could be. Okay, yeah. She did say his name is Zeth. Oh, that explains everything. Seth, what is your take on this guy? Oh, my. Oh, no. I think he's just maybe trying to make a good impression around, like, the friends and the family and everything. So he feels he has to maybe kind of be more there and more talkative. Yeah, because it seems to me that, you know, I agree kind of with that. And I kind of agree with Skye in that that's what she liked. I mean, she obviously fell for the dude that, you know, she liked. I don't necessarily get a vibe that he's selling her a bill of, you know, false goods. You know, when you say he's like the life of the party guy, like...
that could mean a lot because there's like the guy that everybody likes and chats up and then there's that annoying guy, you know, that guy. And if he's turning into that guy, then... Eddie, why are you pointing at me? Yeah, Eddie, you're pointing at Ashley kind of with your thumb, you know, like you're hitchhiking. So that you guys can get like a good picture of who we're talking about. Oh, okay. If you're saying like, oh, I totally get what you're saying. Yeah, nothing personal. Yeah, don't run into it. Well, that's not nice. Yeah, Ash, definitely don't analyze I already did, and I read into it. Don't do that. So you get it. Man. I'm really mad. You'll probably get mad if you do that. Don't do that. You know what I'm saying? We're cool. Damn it! Life of the party like he's putting lampshades on his head. Right? Life of the... Go ahead, Sean. I was going to say, sometimes your personality feeds off the energy of other people. So if this girl doesn't have a lot of energy when they are hanging out just the two of them, you kind of feed off of that and emulate that. However, when you're around a group of people and there's a lot of energy and a lot of different types of energy, you tend to act differently and sort of rise to the occasion. I know that's the way it is for me anyway. Maybe it's her interpretation too. If she's a mellow chick and doesn't need a lot of talking and stuff like that,
and she sees him talking to people at a party, she may interpret that as like, oh, look at him, Mr. Talkative Life of the Party guy. Right. Let's see. P1 Frankie, are you there? Yes, I am here. You're the exact same way. I am the exact same way. I just have to be the life of the party. It's just a personality that some people have. Do you have a girlfriend? I actually have a wife. Okay. Now, when you were dating your wife, I'm sure she saw this whole life of the party thing, right? Yes, she did. Okay. Now, the only thing that I find really interesting and that I'm really curious to hearing about you, especially since you say you're the exact same way, is you're telling me that you were the life of the party at parties and that when you were alone with your now wife, you were very quiet? Yes. When I'm at home, I'm laid back. Just sitting there chilling, watching TV, playing with my daughter and all that. But when other people are around, I'm just, I'm outgoing. Maybe that's it, is that his personality is sort of like a performer. And when you're around people, you kind of have a little bit of an audience. You can do that. When it's just your wife or just the girl you're dating, then what are you going to do? You know, are you going to perform for her? So I think that what Colleen, P1 Colleen, needs to kind of come to terms with is, am I cool with this?
Right. Or she needs to go, oh, man, I'm totally turned off by it. Should there be a conversation? Or... Well, I'm just trying... Why do you always want to have conversations? Well, sometimes we need to be honest about our feelings. No. No honesty about our feelings. No, no, no. No, no, no. This is what Colleen needs to do. No. Colleen needs to decide. Because the reason I say conversation... is because conversation to me at least implies, you can correct me if I'm wrong, Sky, but it implies, I don't know that I like that. I think I want to change that. What's he supposed to do? Not be himself? No, but what if he's doing what Mike said before as maybe a thing is that he's trying to do it to impress her. He thinks this is what she wants. What if that's the case and they're both actually uncomfortable? Okay.
Okay. Because we don't know his motivation. You sold me. It could be either. You sold me. Because if he is doing it because he thinks that's what she wants, she can put an end to that. But how is she doesn't know? How is she going to know without asking? You sold me on it. This is how she might say it. Okay. She might say, wow, when we are... In a girl voice. You know, wow. Okay. I noticed that when we go to parties, you're really, you know, very... Yeah. Active. I'm sexually active. She says, hey, I noticed that your personality really, you know, your personality is really different. And, you know, is it that when you get around people, you really like to, you know, come out of your shell? What's going on? Okay. It's honest and it's a reasonable question. But by doing that, no matter what, you're going to change the way he is. Because he's going to be self-conscious about it now. I don't think so. I think that no matter what, you're going to get an... See, that's why I always believe in honesty. Yeah. And if she believes in her head that he is doing... That's a question. Colleen, if you're listening, do you think that he's doing it for your sake? If you do, ask. If you don't...
And you can tell that that behavior is very gentle. Because I think you can kind of tell. You can totally tell. I think you can kind of tell if somebody's doing something for your sake. I mean, yeah. You get a vibe. You get a vibe. If you feel that he's doing it for your sake, it's worth a conversation. But if you feel that's his personality, then you've got to make a choice whether you're okay with that or not. You don't want to change anybody. You can't change anybody. You can't. You can't. And it's not fair to. Make a note of it. That's right. P1 Clark, are you there? I'm right here, Mikey. How's it going? It's going good, man. What's going on? Well, I was just calling to say that I'm kind of like that guy because in the beginning, I was very open with my girlfriend. I was always goofing around and joking. And she kind of got annoyed with it and was always giving me funny looks or shaking her head at me. So now I'm just quiet around her. I don't say much. And whenever we get around her family or friends, I'm open again because they all think it's funny. That sounds like you're almost like being stubborn, like doing it to her. Like, take that. I'm not going to be fun around you anymore because you don't like it. Well, I'm just being myself with people who like me. But you're not being yourself around her. But you're saying that your girlfriend doesn't like you for you. I broke that off. I'll tell you straight up. I got sick of being quiet around her and broke it off. No, no, no. Bro, bro, bro. Question. Now you got me interested, Clark. I am all in on you. How old are you?
I'm only 21. And how old is your girlfriend? She's 23. And do you love her? I would not like to answer that question. Oh, wow. How long have you been dating? Not very long. How long? I'd say about a month. Get out of it. I did. You did? Yeah, it got too serious too quick on me and I got out. Ah, intimacy problems. Well, listen, dude, I'm going to tell you right now, that was the wrong girl for you. You don't want to be around a girl you cannot be yourself around. For sure. Oh, I know. And if she don't like the way that you're acting, listen, as long as the way that you're acting is not abusive, it's you. It wasn't even just that. She was already trying to change the way I dress. No, no, no, no. Forget it. Good thing you got out. Forget it. I can't believe you guys broke up. Let it go, though, dude. Let it go. If you want to change the way you dress, forget it. Yeah, that girl don't like you. I think she actually hates you. Yeah, she can't stand you. You got to ask me. You got to be like, hey, what do you not like about me so much? Everything. Exactly. Besides everything, what do you not like about me? Holy Toledo. We got a secret crush coming up.

Well, the wet conditions have really caused a mess of a commute already this morning. Traffic remains in effect from a bad rollover accident being attended to on the southbound side of the 67 just past Scripps Poway Parkway. Traffic's packed up heavily out of Ramona in the Poway. You're being advised to avoid that whole stretch completely here. In the South Bay, another bad rollover accident here as emergency crews on the scene at eastbound 54 just before Briarwood Road. So use some caution there as well.
Coming up under the South Bay, you've got both the 5 and 8-5 northbound just crawling out of Chula Vista up to National City on both these freeways. The 8-0-5 actually stays solid, slow all the way in the Mission Valley. That in turn is affecting the West 94. That is crawling as well. Bumper to bumper coming out of the East County from the 125 all the way to that 8-0-5 transition. South 15, a very heavy out of Escondido this morning up to 78, Pasadena Rancho Parkway. Heavy traffic again approaching Carmel Mountain Ranch all the way into Poway. And the coaster ride, as always, suffering in the south on Saturday 5 from La Costa in the Solana Beach. I'm McLaurin's on Rock 105.3. You know, cricket is the best because they don't want you in that contract. They don't want to force you into a relationship with them. They want you to love them so much that you say, I want to be in this relationship with you. Yeah, they know they're going to be that good to you. You're not going to want to leave. They won't try and change you. Oh, thank you, Eddie. They love you for who you are. Right. Persons that don't like contracts. Eddie, what's some stuff about cricket that you love? I love the fact that I'm not in a contract. I love the fact that I don't have to pay for text messaging and picture messaging and all that stuff, which to me is the best. And then they got low prices on phones. So if you ever want to upgrade your phone, they got great prices on those. I mean, everything they do is just awesome. Sky, what do you like?
I mean, basically everything Eddie said, but what's huge, and we've mentioned this before, is the fact that you know how much your bill is going to cost every month. Because everything's unlimited as part of the plan, so you know you can budget appropriately and not get messed up if the bill is doubled from another stupid company. Yeah. Danny, what's going down, man? Nothing much. Wow. Just a little Idol season seven, you know. Dude, you know what I love about you? You know how to have a good time, man. You don't care what's going on, you're going to have a Danny's good time, right? I'm going to bring the house down everywhere I go. Bring the house down. Eddie, what'd this guy look like? He's clearly gay. Uh-huh. He wore, like, skin-tight jeans. Pink? No, they were black. A white. button down with a skinny tie. Got it. And he's got one of those haircuts that are kind of popular now that have like bangs that are swept across your like Zac Efron style hair. And he's just a really kind of flaming kid. Okay. Unpause. Well, yeah, man. I actually thought it was pretty good. The vocals, I mean, I thought they were okay. It was an interesting song choice for me. Wait, wait, wait, wait. It didn't allow you to do your thing. This isn't the performance. This is the review. This is their judgment. Oh, yeah, I want to hear the performance. Cut 14. No, it's 13. Oh, 13. I'm sorry. Cut 13. Now you've got to picture a little femme kid running around the stage doing that. It was grotesque. It was pretty grotesque. Well, and then he does that thing that some people are in on, some people aren't. But you know that thing where you go, yeah. Yeah.
I call it the cookie monster, you know? Some people do the cookie monster thing. But anyway, so here's a dude that's saying good, though. Michael Johns doing The Doors, cut 23. Sounds good. It's not really the same when the singer's not, you know, drunk and drug-addled. Pouring Jack Daniels down his chest. Stopping halfway in the middle of the performance to read a piece of poetry and then start back up again. Barf on the amp. Yeah. Thank you. Come on, baby. When does it start? When does the real thing begin where they're down to, you know, let's get this thing going? They had 12 guys sing last night. They'll eliminate two of them on Thursday. The girls sing tonight, 12 of them, and they'll eliminate two of them on Thursday as well. And then they'll get down to the top 12 eventually. There you go. Another big news story that people are talking about today is that that satellite...
That is up in space. The government's going to try to shoot it down. When are they going to do it? Well, they're saying it could happen as early as tonight. Now that the space shuttle is now safely down, you know, that was something that they were waiting for just to make sure. Exactly. That on reentry, the space shuttle wouldn't hit any debris or whatever. So, yeah, as early as tonight, they're warning, you know. planes and stuff to stay out of a section of the Pacific, just in case. For real? Wow. About 10.30 Eastern time tonight, the Pearl Harbor-based USS Lake Erie will be out there waiting. That's who's going to do it? Yep. That ship? Yep. Shooting off a missile in the Pacific. Dude, I'd love to see that. They'll film it and everything, right, so we can see it. Everybody wants to see that, right? Oh, yeah. I wonder if they can film the impact. Do you think? Oh, that would be so cool. Dude, how rad. Why do we love that? I don't know. Something you'd never see. Telescopic thing, you know? I'm sure Sean's got one in his case. Got all kinds of stuff in that electrical case. You know? Gotta be able to find it. Now, the Mikey Show presents the search for the truth behind the words. The logic behind the lyrics. It's time to play Lyrical Gangster. Lyrical Gangster.
Idea is, you know lyrics. Call us. Who are you guys surprised today, Eddie? We got some movie passes. Nice. 5701053. You call us and you're going to pick from categories. We're going to give you a question about the lyrics of a very well-known song. All the songs we do are very, very well-known. The hits. Yeah, it's just the hits, man. We only deal with the hits. And it's very easy. We ask you the question and you have five seconds to answer it. First up, P1 nurse. Nurse. Nurse. Nurse. How are you, nurse? I'm good. How are you guys? Good morning. We're doing good. And where are you nurse at? UCSD. UCSD? Mm-hmm. Very nice. Do you draw people's blood? Yes. You do? Oof. Good at it. You're good at it. What makes somebody good at that? You have to have a steady hand and be calm, I guess. Do people ever get upset? Like that you stuck them too hard or something? Yes, but only more so when you're new at it. When you've been doing it for a while, you're usually pretty good. Yeah. You shouldn't really be able to tell, right? Like it should be like, oh, you're done. A little pinch. Yeah. You're going to feel a little, yeah, stick. A little stick. You're going to feel a little stick here. Yep. Yes. All right. Here are your categories, P1 Nurse. 80s rock.
adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. I choose 80s rock. Here's your question. In the song Separate Ways by Journey, what does he say you should break that also binds you? The ties? No. Oh, you should have thought about it for a second or two. It's the chains or those chains that bind you. So sorry about that, P1 Nurse. Thanks. Have a good morning. Nurse. P1 Naked is on the line. What's up? What's up, guys? How you doing, girls? Good. What do you do, P1 Naked? I'm on my way to work. What do you do? I work at a health insurance billing. You work for health insurance? Health insurance billing, yeah. Why are you P1 Naked? I've had that since about...
A little bit before, I mean, after high school, I used to like to streak and just be naked. You know, there is that guy. Oh, there's definitely that guy. There's that. Any excuse. There's that guy. The guy loves to be naked. Yeah, yeah. And it's usually because he's proud of something in his life, okay? There's something, there's an aspect of his personality that he's proud of. I just like to be naked, not really proud of anything. I don't like clothes. They get in the way. Where's the most public place you ever did something of this nature? Well, I did a lot of Rosarito speeches and stuff like that. Only regret is there was, like, little kids and families and stuff. Yeah, well, that's really sweet of you. That is a regret. Yeah. Here is your categories, P1 Naked. You got 80s rock, adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. I'll take 80s rock. Here's your question. In the song Master of Puppets by Metallica, the master of puppets is pulling your strings, twisting your mind, and smashing your what? Your dream? Let me tell you something. I say bravo. Hats off to you. There are parts of the lyrics that I can very clearly understand. But I always thought that he was smashing your jeans. It wasn't until this very moment that I realized what he was actually smashing. Okay, hang on the line. You are a winner. Guess who's next, guys? Who? Who we got? You know him. Is it? You love him. Oh. It's P1 Buckley. Buckley? What up? What up? What up?
Hey, Buckley, what do you do, man? I work at auto insurance during the day and rocker by night. There you go. Professional singer. That's right. Nice. Your categories are 80s rock, adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. Well, since I'm up in Hillcrest, I think we'll have to do adult contemporary. Let's do it. Your question is, in the song Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey, she is like no other, and before you know it, You'll be on your what? Be on your knees. Yeah! So good. Sorry, I had to play more because I just was enjoying it a lot. I was enjoying it a lot. What's a great song? It's a killer record. It's a really good record. Yeah, it's a great number. Let's see. P1 Hot Carl is on the line. What up, Chill Town? What makes you so hot there? Yeah, what makes you so hot there, Carl? I'm a good-looking guy. There you go. Fair enough. And modest. That's right. What do you do, hot Carl? Model. I am a plumber. You're a plumber. Okay. From what I understand, you are the hottest plumber in San Diego, dude. Yeah! Your categories are 80s rock, adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. You know what? I'm going to go with movie soundtracks. You got it. Your question is, in the song Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross, from the Endless Love soundtrack.
They say, I want to share all my love with you. No one else will what? I'm sorry. Say again. No one else will do. Oh, you are very effeminate and correct. Nice one. Yes. Hot mess, you. Yeah, Eddie's got up the finger and he's doing the back and forth with the neck thing. Gorgeous. That is just beautiful. Hang on the line. No problem. Man, I wish we could have played that whole record. P1 Roger is up next. Roger, your category. Hey, Roger, where do you work, man? I work at UCSD Medical Center also. A lot of UCSD people. Are you a nurse as well? No, I actually work in human resources. Human resources. Yeah. Gotcha. All right. Your categories, P1 Roger, your categories are 80s rock, adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. Let's go.
Adult contemporary. Your adult contemporary song question is, in the song Sailing by Christopher Cross, he says the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see, you can believe what? Oh, really? You're going to go with that one. You can believe, Sky, do you know this one? The canvas can't do miracles. I have a guess, but I don't know. Just you wait and see. You can believe... In me? Yes, you are correct. Sing it, Skye. You are correct. You said dang it, Skye. I'm sorry you're not underwhelming. You are completely underwhelming, Ashley. I can't that you can sing, Skye. You gotta go first. Well, then that's you, girl. Girl. Sorry about that, Roger. Um...
Yes, I will let you try. You know what? I'm feeling kind of sprite this morning. Really nice of you. Your second adult contemporary question is... In the song, I Can't Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt, what can't you make your heart feel? Come on, dude. I was even going to let you redeem yourself and everything. Dude, you can't make your heart feel... something it won't. Wow, even Kixie thought that was gay. Sorry about that, dude. He's gay. P1 Salt Patrol is on the line. Salt Patrol! What's up, dude? You know, just another day. Hey, man, your categories are 80s rock, adult contemporary, and songs from movie soundtracks. I'll go with soundtracks. Let's do it. Your sound quack...
Well said. Your soundtrack question is, in the song, I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. It's from the Bodyguard soundtrack, by the way. Thank you, Mike, for acknowledging that. She knows that she'll think of you when. Skye, do you know this one? Let me read you the question again, Skye. Skye will get this. Hey, hey, don't put that pressure on me. Sky, in the song I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston from the Bodyguard soundtrack, she knows she'll think of you... When I'm gone? When he's gone? When you're gone? Nobody's gone? No, no. You didn't get it, right? I'm pressing my next finger to her lips. She'll think of you every step of the way.
The way. The way. So pretty. Don't ruin it. Sing it, Ash. Get up there. Get up there. She's easy like Sunday morning. I'll say. Smooth as liquid plumber, I'll tell you what. That is nice. Not cool. Goes down like Drayna. Eddie, stop looking at me. He's just looking at you. No, it's not cool, bro. No, we're in an official fight. He's just looking at you. is on. I just want to say I love this show. I listen to you guys every single day. Guaranteed fresh or we'll brew it new. Guaranteed fresh or we'll brew it new. Guaranteed fresh or we'll brew it new. You guys know me. I'm the most practical person. Sky. Well, I enjoy spicy. Sean. I'm always one who... I was being as gay as I could get. Okay, get a little gayer. And Ashley. That's me. She's... The Mikey Show's on. Back at 7.52. Obama and McCain were both big winners last night. Looks like Shaq's going to make his son's debut tonight against, guess who? The Lakers. Oh. What do you think about that, Shaq? Are you excited about seeing, you know, your old teammate Kobe Bryant? Wait a second. I was really excited. That's the movie that you did. I think America was excited. It wasn't a very big hit. I was a genie.
Okay. That was not a very big hit, though, Shaq. You have to admit that was not. It won the Academy Award. It did not. It never won any kind of an Academy Award. Cool. And I think you know that. Golden Globe. No. All right. Are you guys ready to do this? No. What are we doing? Well, we're doing another Secret Crush. Oh. Oh, yeah. That's right. We're going to be doing another secret crush. And this time it is a guy by the name of Craig. He goes to school and he is in a study group with a girl that he has a little bit of a crush on and wrote us an email. He said, I hear you guys doing this and I'm ready to put it out there, which is always a lot easier said than done. Yes. A lot easier to write that than to actually do it. Craig, are you there? I'm here. All right. So, Craig, you go to school here locally. UCSD? We're at Mesa College. Mesa College. Sorry about that. And, well, there is kind of a difference between Mesa College. A little bit. A slight difference. A little bit. A little bit.
Listen, I'm not drawing any sort of judgment or anything. You're talking about the location difference. Yeah, I was just going to say that one's in Claremont and the other is closer to the water. And heaven. And Smart Town. And Smart Town. It's right next door to Smart Town. And Hard to Get Intoville is right in the zip code right next to that. Gorgeous Campusville. Yes, yes. Whereas Mesa College is just to give us money for tuition. And it's around the corner from Dumpville. No, it's not. It is. It's around the corner. Oh, okay. Yeah, if you did take that left. Okay, well, so Craig, you go to Mesa. Yeah. And now, as I understand it, they just changed it into UC Mesa. No, they did not. Cal State Mesa? No. Is that? Okay. Well. Barely a college. No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I love Mesa. I went there myself. Yes. I'm a graduate. Eddie went to Mesa State. Mesa A&M. That's right. Well, anyway, Craig, tell me what this young lady's name is, please. Her name is Renee. All right. And you are in a, did I get the study group part right? Yeah, that actually was right. Okay, cool.
So you're in a study group with her, and for my sake, all of us on the show's sake, and all the listeners that are listening right now's sake, can you tell me what she looks like? That I can do. She's, I would say, about 5'10". Whoa! Tall now. Got a lot of tall people with crushes on people. They look like supermodels. That's right. So she's 5'10", so she's hard to miss. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, she's kind of a knockout. I mean, that's why I'm calling in. She's really, really cute. She's got long black hair. Do you know how old she is? I don't know how old she is. Cool. I like her base. I like it. I'm assuming she's, you know, as old as everybody else. If you take a guess, how old do you think she is? Based on college, everyone. Yeah, I would...
Like 20, 22? Yeah, everybody's 20. Well, maybe they are, Sky. You never know. Craig, how old are you? I don't know. She's just killing him. Okay, I'm sorry. My bad. You're the best. Please keep going. Craig, how old are you? I'm 22. Okay. So she's 5'10". She's got long black hair. Is it straight? It is straight. And what do you like about her? Well, I mean, she has... I don't know. She's got a great... Careful. All right. Her face is pretty amazing. She's got a really interesting look to her. She kind of looks Pacific Islander. How about some stuff about her personality? Sky hates you, Craig. Wow. You're a bad person.
about her appearance for quite a while. And that's beautiful and wonderful. Sky, you gotta realize, men and women work a little bit differently. Women are much more interested in what's inside. Guys are immediately attracted to the physical nature of a woman. You know this. Well, yeah. I mean, I could do like a sketch of her at this point. Maybe something about the inside. What do you like about her personality, Craig? For some reason, Sky wants them out. Say again? The whole point is I want to get to know her better. I mean, what I know so far is that she seems interested in... It's hot. You know, she raises her hand. She, you know, wants to... She's really hot. Okay, well, listen, if I understand this correctly, Craig, she's hot. It's hot. That's reason enough for me. Sky. Everybody listening, all the ladies, because the guys don't care. All the guys are in on this. But let me ask you, ladies. Is there anything wrong with a guy wanting to ask a girl out because he thinks she's hot? I'm annoyed. Really? Why? Ladies are annoyed. I'm annoyed at this guy on the phone. I know my wife's annoyed. Really?
I'm not annoyed with him. She's gorgeous. She obviously has some sort of chemistry with her. Like, what's wrong? Why, why, why, girls? Why, why? I would like more chemistry than just based on, you know, physical appearance. Well, do you guys get along? Do you flirt? Like, what's going on? Yeah, Craig Lyfe. Craig, come on. Tell us something you really like about her personality. Okay. Her personality, she's into... I guess we have a similar kind of sense of humor. There's like a little wink and a smile to a lot of the... We like to make fun of the teacher. Okay. Oh, there's a start, Craig. Fifth grade, bro. Oh, dude. This guy's annoying. Stop the music. Wow. Hang on. I can't. I'm annoyed. I'm sorry. Listen. I mean, that sounds like something that we all do. Of course. That's something that we have fun doing. I mean, of course. It sounds fun. You can imitate the guy's voice or the teacher's, you know, little look or something. Of course. I mean, Eddie, are you telling me that if Ash was in a class and there was a funny guy in there and he was kind of poking fun at the teacher, she wouldn't do it too and laugh. Of course. Sounds like typical chemistry. I had no problem with this. Sounds like chemistry. Plus, she's hot. She's gorgeous. She's 5'10". She's got long black hair.
And he thinks she's pretty and he wants to get to know her a little bit better. Does she know, you think, Craig, does she know how you feel? I think she likes me. I mean, we kind of flirt a little bit all the time. A little bit all the time. I have a really creepy laugh. This guy was not a creepy laugh. Hang on. For the first time. It just happened for me right there. I'm going to be honest. Yeah, yeah. First time during the conversation. First time right there. I got a little whiff. It was like I was, you know, it was like all the girls were like, did somebody fart? And the whole time I was going, the whole time I was going, I don't smell anything. I don't smell anything. And then we were talking and then right there I go, oh, I think I might have just gotten some chili dog. Maybe, maybe I let it go because I don't smell enough and I'm fine. Eddie's good to go. Maybe it was me. I'm sorry. Eddie's good to go. I'm sorry. Eddie's good to go. Okay. I did have onion rings last night. Okay. Oh, please. I don't like that. Eddie, she said throw up. You guys want a minute? Eddie! Craig? Craig, we're going to take a quick time out. Well, this ball's different than some of the other ones we've done. Well, listen, I...
I'm just telling you that he gave me a little bit of a different vibe at that very moment. But here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a quick... Eddie, you're good on them, right? Quit judging this guy. He's trying to hook up with a gal. He thinks it's hot. Pipe down, onion rings. Okay, now here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a quick time out. And when we come back, we are going to call 5 foot 10 inches tall, 22, we think, year old, with long... Black, straight hair, Renee. And Craig, you're going to... Let me tell you something, Craig. This is a very honest criticism. Critique. Excuse me. Not criticism. Critique. I'm going to be extraordinarily honest with you, Craig. Are you ready? Okay. You need to buck up a little bit, soldier. I need you to have a little bit more swing in your step. When we come back and when we call... Renee, I need you to tell her what it is about her that you think is so spectacular. You know, all the stuff you haven't told us. Right, right. I need you to tell her exactly why you think she's beautiful physically. I absolutely want you to do that and women love to hear that. Yeah, that's nice. But, but Craig, I also need you to tell her what it is about her personality that you find so attractive.
What is it about her being around her that makes you feel like you'd like to get to know her a little bit more? In essence, what I'm saying to you, Craig, is I need you to be a little bit romantic when we call her. Do you understand? Okay, I got you. Okay, perfect. Hang on the line. I smell full-on fart now. I love you, Michael. I love you, too. What are you even talking about? The Mikey Show. Rock 105.3. Hey there, I'm Spike. The official spokesdog for USA Federal Credit Union. Mikey Morning Show. Because here on the Mikey Show, we're trying to make a better tomorrow. K-I-O-Z. San Diego's Rock. Here's another meaty moment from the Mikey Show. The largest recall of beef in U.S. history is taking place. Well, this all goes back to, we were talking about this a couple weeks when it came out, that undercover video that was shot by the Humane Society showing really sick and crippled cows being shoved around with forklifts and, you know. And a lot of this beef went to the schools. It went to schools and old folks' homes. Exactly. That's awesome.
I mean... Yeah, fresh. Yeah, great. Over here, barf. The Mikey Show continues. It's a Mikey Show at 8.0... NBC News has issued an apology after they flashed a picture of Osama bin Laden when talking about Barack Obama. Lots of franchise tags placed yesterday. The Colts franchise tagged Dallas Clark. Chiefs tagged Jared Allen. And the Ravens tagged Terrell Suggs. When we left, we were talking to Craig, who is 22 years old and goes to the University of California at Mesa College. That's Craig. Craig, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. First of all, I want to apologize for the fact that Sky and Ashley despise your face. Definitely giving you a very hard time. I'm very sorry about that.
And I hope that it didn't make you even more nervous to do what we're about to do. You weren't the one comparing him to a fart. That is true. But in all fairness, Ashley did IM me that. Some girls like farts. Yeah, some girls love it. Some girls really like farts. Ashley, that's not true. I have your IM right here. It says, oh, it says Terry Shivo. That doesn't even make sense. I would never say that. That was a terrible thing to IM me. It doesn't even make sense. I would never say that. Anyway. Craig is 22. He does not know how old Renee is. He goes to Mesa with her. And he has her in a class. And they are in a study group together. And he has her number because of that. So Harry Met Sally. It really is. It really is. This is what he does know about her. He knows that she's 5'10". That she has long black hair. And that he is very attracted to her. But I told him. I said when we call her. You need to come up with a little bit more than I love that you're 5'10 with long black hair. And hot. Yeah. He's made it very clear that she's attractive. Go has on a baby. That would be what Rob would say. And you don't want to say that. So we're going to call her. And when we call her, I'm going to let her know that it's us. And then I'm going to turn the reins over to you, Craig. And I want you to listen. Whatever you've ever said to a woman that has ever made her swoon for you.
I don't know that that's ever happened. I don't know. Not really. Oh, dude. Yeah. Well, there's always a first. Always a first, Craig. This is going to be it, man. It's going to be groundbreaking for you. I want you to really forget the fact that you're on the radio. Forget the fact that... You know what, Mike? I'm very nervous about this. And maybe you can help Craig by saying some wonderful things about your wife. as maybe a little example. I'm going to give you a little example here, Craig, okay? That might help. Now, I do not want you to... Well, no, see, that's the thing. I don't want him to steal my words. That's insincere. But as an idea. As an idea. As an idea. How did you first ask her out? Well, first of all, I met her on the internet, so that's ridiculous. That's a whole other story. It was many, many years ago, and, you know, at the time... Well, it was... Anyway. This is what you want to do, Craig. You want to say something to the effect of, listen, when I'm around you, I find that I'm really happy. And when I'm not around you, I find that I'm missing you. And I wish that I could get to see you more. I think that it's kind of special when you're not with somebody, especially somebody that you haven't known very long and you're thinking about them. Maybe seeing the...
the song by Bad English, When I See You Smile. Wow, Eddie. Now that may be going out on a... Oh, I love it. Regale her with a version of that. That may be freaky. That might freak her out. It might be a little soon. No, no, no. I disagree. You don't think so? Well, if he sings it... Oh, wow. I hope that... Yeah, it's not. Sometimes I wonder if I'd ever make it through. Eddie, you changed my mind. Yeah. You writing this down, Craig? You might also get like a Latin accent and try doing everything I do, I do it for you. Like that guy on American Idol did that one time. Everything I do, I do it for you. No, I think you get the idea, Craig. You got to really sell yourself and say, you know, you sound confident. Be yourself. If you're not confident.
Then be whatever you are, but sell the positive things, man. Be genuine. Be genuine and tell her what it is about her that makes her so special. Women love to hear it, all right? Here we go. Talk first. Hello, is Renee in, please? This is her. Hi, Renee. My name is Mikey. I'm calling from the Mikey Morning Show in San Diego. Good morning. Good morning. I'm calling you because we do something here on the air called Secret... And basically what secret crush is, it's kind of romantic. There is somebody in your life right now that actually thinks a lot of you and has come to us for help. And what I mean by that is that somebody in your life, Renee, has a secret crush on you. Oh, my God. And would like to take the opportunity to tell you.
Right here on the air this morning, how they feel about you. You know this person from school. Okay. And his name is Craig. Craig, are you there? I am here. Craig, I am going to turn the reins over to you now. And I would like you to tell Renee exactly what we talked about before. Hey, Renee. Hi. How are you? I'm good. It's kind of an odd call, I'm thinking. I kind of wanted to do something strong and bold that would make an impression on you, because you certainly made an impression on me in class. Are you kidding? You're really cool and funny, and it really makes me want to go to school.
I've never been like a hearts and flowers kind of guy. And I find myself, you know, lately, that's what I want to get those kind of, I want to get you flowers, I want to get you candy and stuff. I just, I like to see you laugh. And when I'm, you know, when I'm around you, I'm really happy. It makes me really happy. And when I'm not around you, I find myself missing you. And I think that's kind of cool for someone that... I, you know, don't know that one. I'd like to get to know you better. Hang on just a second. I'm not going to interrupt too much here, Craig. But, Sean, go ahead and hit that music for me. This might help. Okay, go ahead. Now, try it now, Craig. Go ahead. Finish telling her what you want to tell her. Oh, boy. Go ahead. Go ahead. No, Craig, go ahead. Go ahead. I'm sorry. Mike. Go ahead. I was trying to be serious. No, you are. You're doing fine. You're doing fine. You're doing a great job. Go ahead. I thought you had a girlfriend. I don't have a girlfriend. You don't? No. I always thought that you had a girlfriend. Uh-oh. Craig, do you promise you don't have a girlfriend? I promise. I promise. Okay. Why did you think that, Renee? I don't know. I don't know. I just always thought that he had a girlfriend because he was... I don't know. I just thought that he was always talking about... Oh, man. I see a look on Sky's face. Oh, no. Sky, he said he doesn't have a girlfriend. I don't. I didn't.
He didn't. He didn't. But why does, I mean, why would Renee get that vibe? Aye, aye, aye. Maybe because he's good looking. Yeah. Is he good looking, Renee? Yeah. There you go. Okay. I just thought of because you always talked about when you go out somewhere, you say we went somewhere. So I thought, I just figured you'd get a girlfriend. It's probably his dog. Or roommate or friend. Sean, play it again. Yes. Yes. Go ahead, Craig. Craig, go ahead. Oh, we've ruined this guy's game so bad. Ultimately, I wanted to ask you out. You talked about the other day you wanted to eat at George's, and I thought that maybe we could go there on first date. Oh, my God. This is so crazy. I know, yeah. It is crazy, but it's also...
In a way, it's kind of bold and it is a bit romantic, you got to admit. I don't know, yeah. Ashley? What? Renee, what do you think? Yeah, I would absolutely go out with him. Awesome. Can he bring his girlfriend? No. You promise you don't have a girlfriend, right, Craig? I would not do this if I had a girlfriend. I believe him. I believe him, too. Yeah. So, Renee, you are, listen, you're willing to go out with him, right? Yeah, totally. Very nice. Tell us what Craig looks like. Be honest. No, he's absolutely cute. Okay. He's really cute. He's tall and he has brown hair. And he's... Is he, you know, this is the tough question. Is he taller than you? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That's a good thing. She's 5'10". Right? She's 5'10". That's like two of Rob. That's true. That is an accurate stat. I call for it. Well, listen. Renee and Craig. Craig, when is your class? When are you going to see her again? When are we going to see each other again? When is the next study class? Friday. Friday.
So maybe you guys can make plans to go out on Friday night. Oh, wow. I like it. And she wants to go to George's, which means that, Greg, you better start, I don't know, collecting cans right now, giving blood, doing something to come up with a little money. And it should be real nice. Maybe we can check in with you guys sometime next week and find out how it went. Absolutely. Does that sound good? Sounds great. All right, cool. Hang on the line, you two. You love birds. That was groovy. You guys are dumb. I know. That was worse. Where I'm from, a retarded guy could never have this much fun. It's Mikey. Rock 105.3. And, of course, the rain and the slick conditions are pretty much the cause for all this this morning. So give yourself some extra time. You're going to need it. But, you know, keep it slow and take it easy out there. Right now, we've got a heavy ride in the South 15. Solid brake lights from El Norte Parkway all the way over Lake Hodges into Poway.
Once you get past Mercy Road, you'll finally get up to speed here. What a mess. South on 7 to 5, still heavy as well out of La Casa in the Solana Beach. That's pretty much the norm there. The westbound 8, though, that is suffering this morning from a couple of accidents along the stretch. You're backed up from El Cajon Boulevard in the Cajon Valley to one accident clearing out of the fast lane near Spring Street. And that continues slow past an accident near Waring that's now clear all the way to the 15 freeway. West 94 on the King Freeway. Solid slow traffic here from Lemongrove Avenue to the 805. And that's because 805 itself is still struggling out of the South Bay bumper to bumper from 8th Street and Chila Vista all the way to Mission Valley. Then again from the 163 through Kearney Mesa to Governor Drive and the Golden Triangle. I'm McLaurin on Rock 105.3. Eddie. I don't spend money on anything. Sky. I'm a white girl. What do you want from me? Sean. Slatter me! Slatter me! Boston Rob. I told you. I'm starting to read. I'm trying to be educated. And Ashley. I like to flow. She likes to flow. On Rock 105.3. Who's to know if... If your soul will fade at all. Welcome back. It is 8-28. Three men were convicted yesterday on a total of 76 charges in the October 2006 Mission Beach rape and home invasion robbery. The San Francisco 49ers cut ties with their middle linebacker, Derek Smith. Really? Out. See how they're making the movie X-Men Wolverine? Yeah.
They got three more superheroes cast for the movie. What? Wait, whoa. We don't know what. We don't know what. What are you doing? We just know actors. No, we do. What do we got? No, we do. What's going on? Is Sabretooth back? Is Sabretooth back? We now know everything. Tell me. Well, Eddie, Sabretooth was already announced. It was? Yeah. When? So three. Help me. Okay, I'm sorry. So Hugh Jackman. Sabretooth will be played by Emo Phillips, I heard. No, you heard wrong. I don't know if there's any truth to that. Taylor Maine, Mike. Huh? I heard it'll be played by Taylor, the Soul Patrol guy. No. Taylor Hicks. Taylor Hicks. Taylor Dane. Taylor Dane. Okay. So previously announced was that there's going to be an... Love will lead you back. Big hit. Be quiet. Go ahead. Ashley. Oh, sorry. What? Previously announced there was going to be an X-Man Wolverine movie starring... X-Man. I know. X-Man. X-Man. Starring Hugh Jackman. We know this. What is that? Get to the good parts. Also previously announced that Shriver would play Sabretooth. Wait, what? Yeah. Maria Shriver? Maria Shriver is playing Sabretooth? That doesn't make any sense. Danny Houston would play William Stryker. And Lynn Collins would play... Danny Houston, he was the lead singer of Oingo Boingo, right? No. All right. And that Lynn Collins would play Silver Fox. Okay?
Okay. Now, just announced this morning is there's going to be more superheroes added. Superheroes or supervillains? I don't know any. You're an idiot. I don't know. It's the same thing. Figure it out. Not the same thing. It's the complete opposite. Characters are going to be added. Well, tell me who they are, and I can tell you if they're a hero or a villain. Ryan Reynolds will be playing Deadpool. Really? Now, that's an interesting... Is that a hero or a villain? Could be considered both. He's been both, but mostly a hero. One of my favorite actors of all time, Riggins from Friday Night Live. Really? Thank you, Ashley. Will be playing Gambit. Oh, wow. Rob, there you go, dude. We were just talking about that, but that is weird.
Because Gambit is from New Orleans, and he has a real thick New Orleans accent. Oh, he can pull it off. Cajun accent. He's a talent. And who is this playing him again? Riggins. Riggins from Friday Night Lights. Is Gambit a good guy or a bad guy? Good guy. I thought Gandalf was a wizard at one point. I have to chop your head off. And then finally, Will.i.am, you know, from the Black Eyed Peas, will be playing John Wraith. Is that how you say that? Wraith? Do we know? I don't know. Is that in relation to Bonnie Wraith or is it a totally different person? I'm over this. Come here, Rob. Yeah. Come here. Will I have? Wraith. Yeah. Weird casting choice. Here, I'm going to call this person back and I need you to give them directions. Can you do that? Give them directions. Out in the hall. Gracias. We're giving directions. How to get the radio station. Send them the link. Yeah, send them the link. to send them. Ladies and gentlemen, Knight Rider was a big success. The new Knight Rider on NBC. The updated Knight Rider. Apparently, a lot of people liked it. 13 million people decided to tune in. It was pretty good, Mike. Of course. Of course, Sean watched it. I enjoyed it. I was under the assumption that it was a series that had kicked off, but I guess it was a two-hour made-for-TV movie.
Well, yeah, but it is a series, isn't it? Well, from what I'm reading this morning, that it was a two-hour TV movie to gauge the public's interest in Knight Rider. And that's what was on over the weekend, and 13 million people watched it. And so they're now saying that since that many people watched it, it will be picked up as a series for the fall. I see. Yep. I wonder if... People think that your microphone sounds okay. How are the levels, Ashley? I just checked them. They're good. Okay, because in the studio in here, you can hear this big giant echo when she talks. Yeah, she sounds far away. And the needle is barely moving. Well, because she sent me in the beginning of the break when we first started talking about Wolverine, she said I was like out of control. Yeah, right now you're barely moving the needle. It is not the way that it's supposed to be in a broadcast. Absolutely. I don't want to... I don't know what's right anymore. I don't either. I just know that the... I just want it to be fixed, is all. I just want it to be fixed, and... Yeah, I have, like, three different level things that I... Well, four, actually, that I watch, and they all... You know? So it's not, like, just one, I have four. They go... They... They're like... Sources say... What are they saying, Mike? They... Well, it's sources.net. Oh, okay. They say...
Paris Hilton is banned from the Oscars. Now, I don't know if that's true, but that's what they're saying. They.us.gov. Basically.gov. Yeah. That she's basically been blacklisted and told, yeah, no thank you on you coming to the Oscars because... By the way, Mike, how do I get blacklisted? I'd rather be blackballed. How do I get on that list? Okay. Because she's not, you know, a legitimate actress and kind of brings the event down. Here's the blacklist I'd like to be on. Taye Diggs, Roman Oban. Hakeem Olajuwon. Of course, Denzel. And that's it for now, but I'll... Oh, Blair Underwood. Yes. Oh, yes. Blair Underwood for sure. For sure. You know what, Mike? Hell, I'll even go LeVar Burton if I have to. In a pinch. Okay. Maybe Don Cheadle. Yes. Again, again. Pinch. Pinch. Pinch me. Pinch Chris Rock. Ghetto. Hey. Yes. I mean, if this is the ghetto portion of the show, then yes. You know, I could make Morgan Freeman work, really. Yeah. Cedric the Entertainer. Yeah, well. I like my little meat on the bone. That's right. You know. This is the ghetto portion of the show. Minute bull. Wow.
Move him up a little higher on the list. Yeah. Billy Dee, of course. Yes, of course. Standard. I mean, it is Lando. Yes. Hello. Finger licking good. That's what I always say. Right, Skye? No. Not right. I say Hamlet. Skye, not Skye 2. Yeah, it's not. Please, Skye 2. No, yeah, please. Whatever. Savion Glover. Wait a second. Hold on. Did you just go Savion Glover on me? Speaking of Glover, what about Danny? Back in the day. My first one. I'm a little too old for this. I could still make it work, though. Obama. This guy, too. Obama? That's what I thought. Oh, do it. He is a handsome man. That's right. I'm not going to lie to you about it. That's right. General Petraeus says that if things keep going real good like this, they might reduce it from a 15-month tour to a 12-month tour. And then before you know it, it'd be like Gilligan's Island. It'll be a three-hour tour. Wow. Who said that? General Grievous? No, no, no, Eddie. General Grievous is on Star Wars. This is General Petraeus. How dare you? It's an actual general. General Grievous is, you know...
I thought that was weird. I thought that was weird. Well, back last April. What did Grandma fucking have to say? You're such a nerd. Come on. Stop it. You had to go there. Don't bow. How dare you bow? Don't be proud of yourself. How dare you? Don't be proud of that. Please. It's wonderful. So back in April, Defense Secretary Robert Gates made Army deployments go from 12 months up to 15 months. And so they're now saying things are looking good. And if they hold steady until the next scheduled report to Congress, which will be in April. Stay on target. Stay on target. Great shot, kid. It was one in a million. A TIE fighter. That is what the bad guys. That's right. I'm a horrible person. You're an X-Wing fighter is what I was playing. Oh, that's what you were playing. See? Figure it out. Saturday Night Live is going to be live this weekend for the first time since the writer's strike. Back to normal. Who's the musical guest? That's all I want to know. Carrie Underwood. Oh. And Tina Fey will host. How can I live without... She doesn't sing that song. Oh, I know. It was just on my mind.
That's so weird. I wasn't doing it because I thought, you know, she's saying anything. I heard that they're desperately trying to cast somebody who can play Barack Obama. Really? Yeah. Because they don't have anybody. Are you being serious? Yeah, I'm being dead serious. Why don't they just let Chris Kattan do it? Well, he's not in the cast anymore and white. That's the only name I can think of. Daryl Hammond, maybe. Yeah, what about Daryl Hannah? Can she do it? Oh, Daryl Hannah. Daryl Hannah. Carrie Underwood singing, ladies and gentlemen. I love her. We have her national anthem in here. Let's see what that sounds like. Not bad. Not bad at all. I thought it was pretty good. It's weird. What's the song called where she's carving stuff into the guys? Before He Cheats. Oh, Before He Cheats. This one's going out to all you girls. Been with a fella. This is a song about...
Sticking a .45 in his mouth and pulling the trigger. Whoa! Go ahead. Well, of course she can't shoot whiskey. She's a chick, for goodness sake. Can you, Carrie? Yeah, Carrie. When's the last time you shot whiskey? Thank you. Tough guy. Hey. Can you imagine her carving her name into the sea? Kinda. I'm sorry, but that seems so creepy to me. It probably is. Boy, look. You. Carrie Underwood. And, uh, who's this, who'd you say the special guest? The host is Tina Fey. Tina Fey! I hate when they do that. I don't like when they bring back cast members to be the special guest. What about Will Ferrell? Well, Will Ferrell's an exception. And, of course, Steve Martin doing King Tut. I like movie stars, you know, like, uh, Tom Hanks and stuff like that. That's interesting to me. Uh,
The Oceanside crime rate is at the lowest point it's ever been in the history of Oceanside. In the whole history of the whole town right now. Crime is at its lowest point ever there. That's crazy. So they've only been keeping track for the last 30 years, but they say, yeah, it's at the lowest point ever. And they attribute the success to neighborhood policing teams. Working with citizens to identify problems and create solutions. And McGruff the crime dog. And, oh, yeah, they added 35 extra police officers. Oh, right. That tends to have an effect when they do that. People tend to not rob things. We mentioned it before, but it's worth mentioning again. There's going to be a total lunar eclipse tonight. Yeah. That is when the Earth casts a shadow over the moon. Yep, it's when the sun, the earth, and the moon are all exactly lined up with the earth right there in the middle. So it's a total eclipse of the heart. That's right. It's just like the same thing. That's a great song, by the way. It's the same exact thing. It's the same exact thing. That's what they were writing about in that. I heard you have to turn around to see it. You guys are ready for the Nicky French version, right? Maybe not. No, thank you. Let's try the Bonnie Tyler one. Oh, there it is. Ladies and gentlemen.
This is what we all wanted and needed. Skye's wearing very dark makeup and doing an interpretive dance to this right now. Don't ruin it, Skye. She's got on tights and a very sheer sort of skirt over it. Yeah, definitely. Look at that. She's doing a pirouette and everything. Is that in a movie? Yeah. It's in that movie where and then the girl's driving and all of a sudden she gets murdered. Oh, wow. I don't know that that's... song is playing. No, she's driving and it's raining and this song is playing. What are you talking about? Whatever. And then there's someone in her backseat. That's what you're thinking of another movie. I know what you did last winter. I know what you did last summer. I think that's what it was. No, it wasn't. I just made that up.
It's a movie, Mike. It's Apocalypse Now. Don't do it. You're right, Eddie. Smells like Bonnie Tyler. This is scary. Mikey Show, hello. Oh, man. It was old school. I think that's what Mikey was thinking of. Yes, it definitely was old school. The girl's about to get murdered. She's driving the car. Will Ferrell pops out. He's mooning everyone. Big Afro. Bear buttocks. Mikey Show. That song is in Old School. Okay. I don't think that's a movie Ashley was thinking of. It was not the movie I was referring to. Yeah, Carrie, that's what it was. No, Eddie nailed it on the nose. Yeah, right on the nose, Eddie. Mikey Show, hello. Oh, my God, I can't believe you guys just started to play that song, and then you talked after me. That is my favorite song in the whole world.
And I haven't heard it in so long, and then you didn't even... You confused me with it. I'm with her. Eddie, Rob, what do we think of a girl that is really into Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart? Is she... I think she's cool. All right. And I was going to ask Sean, but Sean, we know how he feels about it. She's really cool, Mike. Maybe it was Urban Legend was the movie. Could have been Urban Legend. No, Urban Cowboy. Urban Cowboy. Oh, yeah. There it is. All right. I believe Third Day is in the building. Whoa, really? Third Day is going to be performing on the air. Yes, yes, yes. Doing a little acoustic thing, and they're at House of Blues tonight. You can get tickets for that. I was thinking about it, and I was like, I'm going to be very tired tomorrow morning. Oh. Jackson talking about what he would do if he could teleport himself? Cut 58. I'd probably just jump around a golf course, a golf course. I'd go all these places that takes too long to get to. One of my favorite places being South Africa. It just takes so long to fly there. It'd be great to be able to just kind of flash up and jump onto a golf course there and play it and come back and be somewhere else. Me too. He loves golf.
He really does. Eddie, how often do you get to golf? Not as often as I would like. I say I play once every two to three months. What is your answer when someone says, what's your handicap? I don't have one. What does that mean? Is that a far out question? No, it's just kind of complicated. It's basically what... Semi-far out. It's a semi-far out question? Yeah, it's a semi... Charmed kind of life. That's what I heard, too. Basically, I think it means what you are over par. Like, what your score normally would be. There's a lot of celebrities at golf. Do you know? Are there any celebrities that are actually, like, good at golf? Yeah, there's a few of them. I know Alice Cooper is really good at golf. Yeah, Tiger Woods, I heard, is pretty good at golf. Really? Alice Cooper? Really? I wouldn't. Isn't Kevin Costner pretty good, too? Kevin Costner is decent. Kenny G. Betty, you can't make things up. Just tell the truth. She asked a legitimate question. I'm being serious. So you're saying that in full black mascara makeup, Alice Cooper is out there in the crazy black tight pants. No, I'm not saying that. Yeah, I mean, that just seems strange. Makeup starts to run and you're sweating and that's just awful. It just seems weird. Who else? Dee Snider's out there in the full makeup.
Is that what you're saying? Jack Wagner. Oh. I like Jack Wagner. Mr. Wagner. Isn't that a thing? Well said. Like, what thing? What is she thinking? Mikey. Mikey Show. Hello. Yes. Oh, I know what's... What is she talking about, Sean? She's talking about... Mr. Wagner. No, you know, when we do like, oh, Mr. Beasley. Oh. Yes, Sean, you did it. So she... Confused Beasley with Wagner? Ah, yes. Wagner. Oh, totally wags. Here's Will Ferrell on Jay Leno last night. Cut 48. What is your most popular film in Ireland? Their Anchorman is a huge cult. Really? In Ireland? In Ireland. In fact, they had radio contests to track my whereabouts in Ireland.
Is that actually a little odd? It does seem odd. And so I'd literally have people pull up to me and shout lines from Anchorman, of course, in an Irish brogue. So I'd be like, let's see how my Irish brogue is. Will, I want to be on you. Milk was a bad choice. So that was a bad experience. Was that the Irish brogue? That's the Irish. There you go. Wow, that was not bad. Skye, did you announce who the Dancing with the Stars people are going to be? Well, no. It was on our list of stuff yesterday, but we never got to it. I know that this is interesting. Marlee Matlin is going to be one of the new people on Dancing with the Stars, which I think is very interesting because Marlee Matlin is hearing impaired. She's deaf. How does she dance if she can't hear the music? Maybe just memorize the steps. Is that it? I don't know.
You know, maybe you could... Now that you say it like that, I'm like, who knows? Maybe you could be better if you memorize it as opposed to... Going with the flow? I don't know. But you still have to match the band, right? They have a live band. Yeah, but if you follow your partner's lead, you might be able to do it. Now, here's a clip of Carrie Ann... And Nabla. Carrie Ann and Nabla. And Bruno... San Martino. Molly. Tony Olo. Tony Oli. They're talking about it. Cut 41. You can feel the vibrations of the music through the floor. And you can also, I think there's a way that they can create, there's a hearing aid that actually works that gives the beat. It just amplifies the beat. One of your senses is impaired. The others are more enhanced. And music goes through your body. Yes. You'll be able to see the music. Yes. Taste it. Feel it. Throw up on it, make it something into very real for you. What? Throw up on it. I'm just saying, you know, to give you a metaphor, if you were to throw up, you know what I'm saying, right? No. Not at all. Okay, let me explain. I don't think so. The beat of the music is so strong, right? Yeah. That you feel so much love and so much passion, you puke all over you. Oh, Celine Dion. Yeah, you know what I say here. Did you hear the football player that's been in Dancing with the Stars? No, who is it? Jason Taylor. Really? Yeah.
Really? He's gigantic. Yeah, he's really big. Do you think he'll be good? No. You predict bad things. He'll be stiff. I heard Adam Carolla's going to be on it. Oh, yeah, that's right. I wonder how long he'll last. I can't picture him doing that. Priscilla Presley, but she has said, I will not dance to Elvis songs or something. Are you kidding me? That would be money. Yeah, that would be very emotional. Is that what the deal is? It would be emotional? I don't know. Let's see. Cut 46. You're not going to be dancing to any Elvis music, right? You said that up front. No, I just don't think that would really be appropriate. Why? Why? I don't either. Like, why would it not be appropriate? We're his wife. It's okay. We're okay with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Why would that not be appropriate? You would think that that would be so appropriate and so cool. Like a tribute almost. Yeah. Maybe it's weird for her. But why?
Why? I really want, like, give me an extra, give me a, offer me something that I can go, okay, I get it. Well, were they, did they divorce or were they married? Cause I don't know. Well, he died. Well, I know he died. Elvis Presley died. So what is that, Mike? A divorce? But I didn't know if they separated first or not. Because I'm just saying, like, if my husband died, I don't necessarily think... Like, Skye, you know, like, would you want to... Yeah, Skye, picture your husband dead. Would you want to dance to, like, funny boo scene? Because it would, like, make you... Would you get mad if you died? It would make you distracted and probably sad and, like, you know... Would you serve him with death papers? I think it would be weird, kind of. Like, imagine, like, he's laying there dead. It's not weird. And like your divorce attorney shows up and serves him. That would be kind of inappropriate to dance with him at that point. He's dead. Plus, would you have to dig him up? Yeah. Like imagine his suits falling apart and everything. You put it in his hand and like his hand comes off. Yeah. It'd be like Tom Cruise dancing with that dead lady in the interview with the vampire. It would just be weird. Hey man, I'm just saying I think it'd be weird. I don't understand.
I do. What's Hayden Christensen in? Jumper. Oh, okay. Calm your horses. Calm your horses. He played Darth Vader as a young man. He was terrible. I thought he was terrible. Cut 50. Give me one example. You just said you're kind of romantic. Have you got one? Have you got a romantic? Give me an example. I like to make things. So I made a swing for a girl one time and hung it from a tree at my farm. She liked that. This girl is 11? Girls like swings. Girls like swings. You do? Make the girl a swing? It's kind of nice. Hey, P1 Anonymous has kind of an interesting point here. Anonymous, are you there? P1 Anonymous, are you there? P1 Anonymous, I beg you to be there. So anonymous. Hello, hello, yes?

Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you.
The ride is improving on some of our freeways out here this morning, but staying tough on a lot of our freeways. We've got heavy traffic still on the southbound side of the 15. That is still backed up heavily from the 78 off and on all the way down in towards pretty much Rancho Bernardo, Poway. So you've got a tough ride here. Southbound side of the 5, that's a struggle as well from Acadia all the way to Solana Beach. Westbound 8 is good into the valley. The 94 King Freeway also up to speed. And better news than the 5 on the 805 northbound out of the south bay. You've got good-looking speeds here. 805 staying tough, though, from the 163 over the 52. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Casting from the Cricket Wireless Studios. Brilliant. Amazing. Thank you. Go see San Diego's Rock. MyCricket.com slash San Diego. Mikey's show continues featuring Mikey. I love cars. Eddie. I think I'm immune. Captain Morgan's now. Sky. I am the Google Oracle. Sean. I think about death all the time. Boston Rob. I'm getting real big into, uh, jiu-jitsu. And Ashley. I want to eventually join a hip-hop group and, like, perform on the weekends. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3. I must have missed all that. Hey, Sean, are you there? Sean, can you hear me? Alright.
We do not have. Don't worry, Ashley. I'm getting some weird delay. All right. Here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a quick time out, and when we come back, we're going to have time to do a very, very, very, very long break. We're going to have time to do a very long break. In fact, here's what I'm going to do. Yeah, Ashley's all upset. They're down there, and they're ready to go? Okay, where's the band? In the office? They're in there, too. That is pretty hysterical. That is pretty hysterical. He's all out of breath. Oh, that's funny. Okay, let's do this. What's a popular song we're playing right now? All right, here's what I'm going to do. Want me to put one in? No, no, no, don't worry. I'm going to play this song. When this song is over, we'll be ready to go. We'll be right back. It's Rock 105.3. We are hanging out in the performance studio right now.
And we're hanging out with Third Day, and let's make noise. All the P1s that are in here right now, make some noise for us. It's a pretty cool deal, the way that we have this set up. Now, this is the same room that we were, when we were doing the 28-hour show, and we were watching movies and stuff like that. We were filming, or we were doing it all in this room where we had TVs on and everything. Can you tape with that? My wife is here. She's going to watch Third Day, too. Third day is with us. They're going to be at the House of Blues tonight. Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster. And so if you want to go to the show, tickets are still available. House of Blues is maybe one of the coolest venues I've ever been to, ever. And let me introduce everybody in the band. Mark Lee on guitars. How are you doing? How are you, man? Mac is here with us as well. Mac Powell.
Hey, man, he doesn't have a sheet or anything. He's got this memorized. It's crazy. Very nice. Impressive. Yeah, that's exactly. And Brad Avery is with us. Well done. Brad. David Carr. Not the same one from the Houston Texans, by the way. Oh, really? David Carr. Unfortunately. Exactly. You all are really disappointed. David's signing bonus was considerably less than the other David cars. And the hair is different. Remember, he had the long hair for a while. I'm losing mine, meanwhile. Jake DeLome on keyboards. Exactly. And we also have Ty Anderson, who is a bass player. And I've known Ty for a while. I've known you guys for a while. And I play at the end of the show on Friday. For those of you that are listening and have ever wondered what that cool song is, and I tell you every Friday, but you're wondering, What's that cool song that you play that's real inspirational, Mikey? It's called Tunnel, and it's by these guys, Third Day, the Grammy Award-winning Third Day, by the way. Excuse us. It's multi-Grammy. Wow, very cool. Now, let's talk about the whole Grammy experience and everything, because I know that there was kind of an interesting story.
about when the Grammy was being called and you guys were going to accept the Grammy. Was it David that was trying to get out of the bathroom? No, that would be me, Mark. Was that you, Mark? I was in the bathroom. We were told that there was an hour before our category was coming up. So I was like, guys, I'll be in there in a second. I'm going to stop by and make sure I got the opportunity to go in here. I wasn't actually in there while I had come out. And I was like, where is everybody? And our keyboard player was just standing in the back. He's totally chill. And I'm like, hey, what's going on, man? He's like, oh, you guys just won. They're up there on stage. No way. So I sprint to the stage. I'm running. These guys are, you know, playing at the moment. It was good, though. Did you guys have any clue where he was at the time? Oh, yeah. Everybody knew where I was. In fact, I made the announcement from stage in our acceptance speech. I said, Mark's in the bathroom right now. No, I'm not. I'm coming. And I was running. That's awesome. So when you win a Grammy, does everybody get their own statue? Or does a Grammy just give out one or two? Or how does it work? Yeah, I think we've all gotten our own statue, which is really cool. What? We all get it. The Grammys give and the Grammys take away. They give you the Grammy and you're like, cool! And they go, and we'll need that back.
Yeah, when you see everybody on TV win, they actually, the Grammy that they're holding, you have to hand that back in. Because I think one, this may be not true, but I've heard one guy makes all the hundreds of Grammys. So it takes months and months to get your Grammy. And then you show up one day from going out to the restaurant or whatever, out to eat. And you come home and there's a big box on your front doorstep. of mail, you know, just the mail delivered and it's a Grammy. It's pretty cool. So when you're opening this package, you're like, what is this? Did I order some food or, you know, a jumpsuit or something? It's very similar to Mikey when I won my Emmy for Renegade. You didn't win an Emmy, Eddie. You never won an Emmy. Eddie did not win an Emmy. My friend Lorenzo Lamas. He was not a friend. He was an extra. He was an extra in one episode is what happens. I'm sure you guys know a lot. We'll talk about that later. But since then he pretends that he was on the show. Is that thing, is the Grammy, are these things like a couple of pounds? Are they heavy? Are they plastic? Are they gold? Well, they're made in China now, so they're made of plastic. Yeah. It's not true. I mean, what is the deal with those? It's a good lead-based paint. They're very heavy. They're definitely in the blunt object category. Oh, okay. I had a great story. When we got our first Grammy, we came home. First Grammy. Our first Grammy. First Grammy. Just to clarify. Yes.
Let me set the scene for you. It was 1973. I got the Grammy, and my son's like, well, what's this? I said, well, this is a Grammy award. He's like, well, how do you get one of those? I'm like, well, you know, you just start a band, and you go around, you do pretty well, and, you know, if they recognize your album, you get a Grammy. And so later that night, I was tucking him in, and I was like, good night, buddy. He says, Dad. I want a Grammy. Just start a band. That's awesome. I'm like, dude, get to work, man. You're just sitting around with the Legos. You need to be kicking out the jam. Do you have a specific place that you put it so that you get to see it all the time? Because I've asked Super Bowl guys, guys that have won the Super Bowl, they say their rings are in like a... Some kind of a deposit case somewhere. Well, I drive an old Ford truck, but it's the hood ornament on my Ford truck. There you go. There you go. Nice. Nice work. Awesome. All right, well, here's what we're going to do. The guys are going to be performing acoustically. You guys ready to hear Tunnel? Acoustic? Yeah!
House of Blues tonight is where you will see these guys. And they go on stage. Well, doors open at 6.30. Show starts at 7.30. And there are still tickets available if you want to go. House of Blues is the coolest place to see a show. And you guys ready to do Tunnel? Yeah, man. Let's do it. You guys are actually in the studio right now. You're recording a new album right now? Yeah, that's correct. Is there a name for the album yet, or are you allowed to say? No, we were actually talking about that this morning. We're kind of debating on what the title should be. I think it should be called, and these guys disagree, but I think it should be called Mikey's New Favorite Album. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I love it. I love it. It definitely does. It definitely does. Where are you guys recording at? Where do you guys do this?
Well, we normally record. We're from Atlanta, Georgia. I don't know if you picked up on the accent. We're not from around these parks. We normally record in Atlanta, but this record we've been recording in L.A. with a new producer for us, a guy named Howard Benson. Oh, big time. Yeah, he's done some great records. He did a couple of P.O.D. records. and uh he's done uh what else some he did the daughtry record right this past year so he's done some great records and so we were very fortunate to get him to produce and i got him chris lord out to mix the record he's done amazing stuff too now when he is uh producing the album do you guys notice a difference in terms of like him trying to turn the the rock up a little bit on it and stuff like that Yeah, it depends on what the song is. He's so great at just hearing a song and really kind of whittling it down to what it needs to be. And really, a lot of times, simplifying things to make it stand out a little bit more. A lot of times, as musicians, we love putting all these different parts on. He's like, no, forget that. Let's have a great guitar part, great drum parts, and just a great bass part, great vocal. Simplify it to make it stand out and rock more. How about something that... Yeah, this mic is...
Cutting out for whatever. Ooh, that sounds so much better. So how about something from the new album maybe you get to hear? Would you guys be open to hearing something that's not even out yet? Something from the new album? That makes me nervous. Real fresh. No, no, no. It would be an honor and a privilege. There you go. Speak for yourself. I don't know the words to these songs. I don't have my cheat sheet in front of me. This is a brand new song. Last night we did it in L.A. for the first time ever. And I messed it up live. And so I thought, well, nobody's heard the song before. Anyway, I'll just make up words and nobody knows. Yeah, or just hum if you forget. Yeah, yeah, I'll just hum along. Sing something even if it's from another song. What's the process for you guys in doing that? Do you guys all sort of come up with different parts of the song and then Matt puts lyrics to it later? I think what we do is like the three guys up here on stage right now are mostly the writers. And so we'll all kind of write basic ideas of a song.
And say, for example, Brad will bring a song and say, here's my idea. And he'll have like an acoustic version of it. And we'll go, okay, that's cool. And that's not cool. Change this. Or it's great exactly the way it is. And then all, you know, David, our drummer and entire bass player, and everybody kind of puts their own stamp on it and kind of develops it into what it needs to be. If you ever need any help, Boston Rob is a great lyricist. He's amazing. He writes great lyrics. Once you hear this guy's voice, you're going to love it. Lyrical assassin. Question. I was at thirdday.com. I was checking out the website. And I saw that you guys have these videos on there of you guys in the studio. Yeah. They're pretty good. Yeah. They're pretty funny. One of them was of you guys rocking out to an 80s band. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. What is it? Steelheart. Steelheart, man. What was the song? I don't know. Yes. I'll get it. Steelheart. You've got to hit the note. Hit the note, Mark. What is the song? Because that is one of the great... I mean, I listened to it. I was like, I love that song. I don't know what it is, but it's terrible. I don't even know the name of the song. Still, we'll find it. Dude, just say it so high, it's just hilarious. It's great. It's so fun. So, now, you guys... Have you guys played San Diego before? It's been a while. We've played here probably two or three times, but it's been a long time since we've been here. I think you guys are going to have a lot more fans.
from the San Diego area this time for sure because there's a lot of people that have been writing me emails saying, hey, listen, I heard Third Day because you guys play them at the end of the show on Friday and now I'm a fan. They're going back and buying old records and stuff and they're totally in on the last record wherever you are. The new record is called Whatever Mikey Thinks This Album Should Be Called. And we're really looking forward to it. This is a new song. What's this called? This is called This Is Who I Am. And I hope no one's, you know, recording this out there right now. So we'll see what happens. Let me get the key first. There we go. Got it. Here we go. I'm the son of a good man. I'm the child of an angel. I'm the brother of a wild one. And I'm looking for direction. I'm the lover of a beauty. I'm the father of blessings. I'm the singer of a love song. But is that all I'm That sounds awesome, man. That sounds awesome. That's going to be a very cool album. And here's what we're going to do. We're going to take a break, and when we come back, we will do a classic Third Day song. I am so stoked that you guys are in here, man. It's so cool for me. Thanks for having us, man.
This has been a very cool process for me because I first heard your music when I was first saved back in about 2002, 2003. And I remember that your guys' music was really instrumental in me being able to go almost exactly like that song. Almost exactly like what you were just singing. My background is so different. a history of alcohol and stuff like that. And so when I was first coming into being a Christian, it was really difficult for me because I'm all tatted up and everything. And I was going, what is this new life going to be like? And what am I going to be like? What kind of music am I going to listen to? And I was just kind of letting it happen. And it was actually my wife that introduced me to Third Day album for the first time. And I was like, well, this is cool. This is great. Now, you guys are what I listen to the most. It's just so great to have you guys come in here and play like this today and to let a lot of people be exposed to some of the best music I've ever heard in my life. Tonight, it's going to be House of Blues. Doors open at 6.30.
7.30, the show starts. I've seen them live, and I guarantee, well, you've heard it. You're going to be blown away. It's absolutely an incredible show. We'll take a break. We'll come back, and we'll do something from the old days. How does that sound? Sounds great, man. Cool, man. We'll be back. It's Rock 105.3. It's Mikey. The Mikey Show is on. It was great. It's really cool because, like you were saying, the House of Blues is just the coolest place to play. And so we're doing a whole run, about six House of Blues shows. And for us, it's really cool because we've finished our part of making the record. We've laid down all the tracks. So we're using this tour to learn new material. So it's really cool because it's a great intimate setting and a great way to just show new songs. for an awesome, intimate audience every evening. We're basically using you guys as guinea pigs. There you go. Playing some of these new songs to see how they go over, if we want to put them on the record or not or play them live or not. That's cool. It's really up to you guys whether these songs make it or not. Very nice. No pressure. Yeah, no pressure. Are you guys still doing video games in the tour bus? Who's the video game addicts in the tour bus? None of us really play video games. I do it at home. I got a Wii. I told you about that for Christmas. Did you get Ultimate Duck Hunt? I did. On Mikey's recommendation, I got Ultimate Duck Hunt. What I was expecting was old school Super Mario Brothers. They had the duck hunt. I didn't realize that he was...
You know, like a redneck because Ultimate Duck Hunt is full on like, well, the first thing you got to do is train your lab to retrieve the ducks. You're like, now what kind of camo do you want? I'm like, dude. It's true. You're actually out there duck hunting. My wife is like, are you still duck hunting in the living room for the fifth hour? So Mikey's texting me going like, you know, I recommend just five decoys. That's the best way. Yeah. I try to get, you know, Canadian mallards are my specialty, and I go with the brown lab. I was like, this guy's full on. California, you know, it just shows you there's rednecks everywhere. Hey, listen, we're all over the place, and I'm very proud to say that I can bag about six ducks in 20 minutes. Mikey, do you have any interest at all in going for real duck hunting because of the game? I would love it, but here in California, it's not as easy as in the south, you know? You can definitely surf out here, but duck hunting is not as easy to find. And you do not want to combine those activities. Two of them together are bad. Two of them together are bad. He just shoots pigeons now. Exactly. So cool. So we are going to do an old school song. We're going to do a little I Believe. Are you guys cool?
doing I Believe. Yeah, this is from a couple of records back, I think. What record was it? Wire. So it's not too old, but not too new either. This is called I Believe. We've got to get the studio audience once again and put your hands together. There you go. Give me something that I I can believe and then I I share it with the world for us to see away the darkness all the pain and sadness put this light inside of me. Mac, I ask this of almost all great singers that I talk to. Do you ever, when you're not singing, are you just singing? Like when you're in the shower, are you singing or do you go, that's my job, man. I just don't want to do that. Or are you always doing it? A little bit of both. A lot of times I'm singing all the time. I'm always humming stuff in my head and my wife is like, you're driving me crazy. Shut up. But at the same time, on the flip side of that, I'm not singing like I do on stage. And that's where I get in trouble because we've had a...
We've only done about two shows in the past two months. We've had quite a bit of time off because of doing the record and all this kind of stuff. And so I'm kind of one of those marathon singers where once I've been warmed up for a few days, I can sing five days a week for months on end. But once I've been away from it, you know, it's like jogging. You go back, you haven't jogged in a while, man. You're hurting really bad the next day. And so that's what I'm feeling today. But hopefully after this week, we'll... I'll be vocally where I need to be. You sound great, man. I mean, I was listening to it and I was going, man, you sound just like the records. And that's what I've always loved about seeing you guys perform and getting to see you guys in a live atmosphere is how tight the band sounds together and how much... because it's always strange when you get used to a song, you hear it on a record, and then you go see a band, and it's so drastically different, and you guys are not that. You guys are able to mix it up and still have the same sound that people have gotten used to and really love. Yeah, there's a good balance as a performer of trying to play the music the way that people like it from the record and from radio, but at the same time putting a little bit...
of a twist on it just to keep it fresh and new. And I think just the live element itself, even if we did a song exactly the same that it's on the record, just being there with a bunch of sweaty people singing and dancing kind of puts a new energy into it. There you go. That's why everybody needs to come to the House of Blues tonight. House of Blues tonight, doors open at 6.30, and I usually get up at about 2 o'clock in the morning, but I might have to push it back a little bit tomorrow morning. Sleep in a little bit there. Yeah, because I have a feeling it might be... Kind of a late night tonight, but can you guys make some noise and say thank you to Third Day for coming in here today? Truly a pleasure to have you guys in here, and anytime you come back to San Diego, we'd love to have you as our guest again, and hopefully get a lot of people out to this concert tonight. It's going to be fun, and I'm not leaving until the doors close, and it's going to be a fun time. So thank you guys again for coming in here. It's Third Day, ladies and gentlemen. We will be back. And so I called him up two nights ago, and the guy told me that he wasn't going to be able to, probably not. you know, meet my deal with my current insurer. So he called AIS. They said, we don't think we could probably do better. He said he probably couldn't, but he beat him by 50 bucks. Nice. So I'm saving $584.12 a year with these guys. You know, Eddie and B-Rob are going to be racing each other. Oh, that's true. It's on. It is on. It is on. It's actually on. It's on. K1 Racing. It's on like Ramadan. That's right. That's what they say. That's the old saying. They are going to be doing this on February 28th. Thursday, February 28th. It's on like Top Ramon. There you go. Oh, yeah? Well, it's on like Sky's Husband. Yeah. It's on like Nick's mascara. All of this stuff right here is sort of like the filling of the cake. But I would say that the last 20 seconds of the song are certainly the icing on the cake. You're going to enjoy yourself. Strap yourselves in. He's in heaven right now. I bet he is. Dude, I think that is Buckley. That's what I'm talking about. That's not real.
Eddie, you think you were rocking the Beretta during the time this was... Yeah. I was rocking that 1982 beat-up white pickup truck. Toyota. Toyota. That I kicked. That's right. Eddie was playing around. He didn't realize he was going to actually make contact with the door of the Toyota pickup, and he accidentally did. He put a gigantic dent in the door. It was an accident. It was an accident. But I laughed. I admit it. Well, it's not very nice. It was an accident. He was a junker anyway. Well. Same thing happened with the ashtray in the same vehicle. Well, excuse me. That was your own fault. What did you do, Eddie? Eddie, what did you do? Because I told you that it was jacked up a thousand times. You never fixed it. And I accidentally crossed my legs once. I knocked it over. Eddie. And it was never the same again. Well, he broke it. It was already broke. You made him pay for it, right?
Of course. What do you mean? Of course he didn't pay for it. Wow. I want to pay for it. It was an ashtray. Third day sounded good. Yeah. I'm very impressed. That sounded good. I'm always impressed when a band is able to come in and just crank it out like that because we've had so many rock bands before in the past where they're having to do the whole bumblebee, bumblebee, bumblebee. And they just came in and did the thing. That's pretty cool. Page six says that Britney Spears is not allowed to use the bathroom by herself. This is on order of her father. He says, do not let her out of my sight. And if she has to go to the bathroom, I want a bodyguard in there with her. Well, the deal is, is that he doesn't want her to use any kind of drugs or anything. Sky. What do you mean? Sky uses the restroom with the door open. Oh, that is true. That is open.
But I don't force someone to be in there with me. Practically. If you happen to walk by, that's not my thing. You really never shut it? No. It is. If by interesting you mean gross, then yeah. Vile, yeah. Very interesting. Disgusting. Whatever. Ash, could you ever do that? I mean, how comfortable would you have to be with a guy? No. No. In order for you... What do you guys think? Like, what are you visualizing? That he's standing outside the door? It's not a visual. It's not a visual. It's a smell-o-vision. You need privacy, Scott. It's a smell-o-vision. But yeah, but he's like, half the time he's not even like near the bathroom. But there are certain things that you never want your husband to experience. You know what I mean? That you never want him to experience. Such a private matter. Some things carry. Yes. Like voices? Yeah, voices carry. Keep it down now. Keep it down now. That stink carries. Let me ask you a question, Skye. We're not going to discuss this right now. Since we're on the topic of you leaving the door open. Let's not be on the topic. Does your husband do this as well? Not like...
Okay, he does. Half the time. Yes. But not in the bad time is what you're saying. Not in the bad time. No. He does not in the bad time. Not in the bad time. My question is, here is my question. Wait. So here is my question. Yes, my friend. Why does he not in the bad time? Because I guess he... prefers to have a little more privacy for himself. Now, why do you suppose that is? Because that's the way he is. We're different. He's just very private about the bad thing. Kind of a private person. And whereas other people are like, hey, I want to share. He's not very outgoing. I want to share the bad thing. I'm not, you know, I am not. I am very outgoing. I'm very outgoing. I'm known to be very personable. And I'm very personable. And I want to share. What's mine is yours. Well, no. In fact, I'm outgoing right now. Whatever. Stings the nostrils. Stop it. I'm not a smelly girl. Stop it. You're trying to have to say that. I'm just saying. She's actually saying. No, I never said never. I never said never. How can you say that?
Do you realize what kind of person it makes you? No, Skye, it does every time. Every single time. No, it's very rare that it's bad enough for it to leave the area. How do you know you're in it? No, I'm going to be... Guys, I'm going to be honest. It's actually quite enjoyable. It actually is. It's quite enjoyable. And nobody enjoys it. Thank you for saying that. That's not true, Eddie. I'm telling you. That's not true. I'm telling you that if there were such a thing as fans... I would have fans. I know. Like the boy from Schindler's List. Yes. Remember that scene? He would love it. Exactly. This is my only issue. Because, Skye, I can understand. I don't know. I can kind of understand to some degree. But my issue, if I were you, would be like, what if your husband does accidentally walk in? Maybe he thinks you're doing a number one. Right. And he comes in, and you're totally in the middle of something. That's inappropriate. Really inappropriate. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're disgusting. Now you're going to make her clam up. Now you're going to make her clam up. I'm sorry. But when you do that, then she won't share. That would be brutal. Now she's shamed. Well, she should be. Well, that is true. But do you know what I mean, Skye? How would you answer that, Skye? You know, that, what she just said. How would you... Has that ever happened? That happens good. Yeah, that's my answer. That's my answer. Have you ever killed any of your cats?
I know they go in there. They love to be in there with me. They're always in there with me. Oh, goodness. They're fine. Everyone's fine. They come out of there like they've been playing with catnip. Like they're walking all, you know. Yeah, I'm sure they do. They're staggering around. Yeah, they're staggering. Chasing their tail. They seem confused when they leave. Stunned. Yes. You guys have to tell. The movie Juno has now surpassed my big fat Greek wedding in being an independent film making the most amount of money ever. $125 million for Juno, which was an independent film. Now, before that, My Big Fat Greek Wedding came out. It was in India as well. It had made the most money. It had made $124,999. I'm so lost. And now Juno came out. It made $125. It's now the biggest of all time. Juno is the highest grossing independent film since.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding. That's not that big of a deal. That came out in 2002. Ta-da! Juno's made $125 million, but it is the highest grossing film out of all the Best Picture Oscar nominated films. Wow! I wonder what the highest grossing indie of all time was. Maybe Blair Witch. My Big Fat Greek Wedding. How much did that make? $241 million domestic. Whoa. That's not even worldwide. It's a terrible movie. It's a great movie. I thought it was so stupid. I turned it off. The Windex. It's so funny. Windex cures everything. Good. Spread it in your mouth. Good. Spread it in your face. Okay. Martha Stewart Omnimedia. That's Martha Stewart's big, you know, giant business conglomerate. Has bought The Emeril Lagasse product line. So now she owns the world. Yes, she does. Bam. She now owns the world. Yep. That's a fact. Wow. So she now owns what? Rights to what, Skye? It says she now controls all Emeril Lagasse entertainment, cookbooks, food products, and cookware.
But they do go on to say that Emeril will retain ownership of his 11... His dog. That's it. His poodle. His 11 restaurants. His dignity. Yeah, that's all he gets intact. So, yeah, they bought it for $45 million plus $5 million in stock options on top of that. Now, don't you think it would make sense that she would keep it... She wouldn't change it to, like, the Martha Stewart line, right? No. No. Because that Emeril stuff sells because of his name. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Some people like him. I'm not, you know... No? I don't... I don't watch his shows. No, I don't like that he gets so excited because he put garlic in something. Oh. Yeah, people... Oh my goodness, garlic! What is that magical ingredient? And I don't like that. When he does do it, it's as if he just stuck his head into a lion's mouth. It's very daring when he does it. Just sawed a woman in half. Yeah. It's always like that garlic was putting his own life at risk, but... Yes. Bam, there it is. So anyway, that's the deal with that. Jessica Simpson does not care about fat people. Oh, no. That is an actual quote. No. Now, let me tell you who the quote's from. No. The actual quote is from a workout tape that she was going to be in. She went and filmed the workout tape.
Now, you know what happens a lot of times when you're doing these kinds of things. You get to say whether or not you put the final kibosh on it. You get to say whether you like it or not. Well, what happened was is she goes and she does it. And the people that were looking at it go, you know, we think we'd like her to come back and redo a couple of things. And she didn't want to. And so then she just said, you know what? I changed my mind. I don't want to do it at all. And so they were like, okay, give us $10 million then. That's what they're suing her for, $10 million. Yeah, the company also said, quote, referring to Jessica Simpson and her people, they are hurting millions of fat people in America. What a way to put it, right? Wow. It's hurting them, so they're suing. Did you guys hear that in Vista, somebody put a car on the top of a building? Oh, over the weekend, yeah. And it crashed through the roof. Clowns. Now, was it a prank? Is that what the deal was? Well, they don't know. Because I can't tell you how many times that, you know, Eddie's put my car on top of this building and I put his car on top of this building. You got me again. Sean puts Rob's car on top of the building and we're always putting our cars on the building. Yeah, they're still investigating and they don't have a suspect yet, but yeah, they are speculating that they thought it was going to be a prank because they used this big...
Construction loader piece of equipment. To put it up on the roof. Thinking that. Well it's called a construction loader. And they put it up on the roof. You guys should fight about it. It's called a forklift. It's called a construction loader. It's called a forklift. So somebody used a construction lift. And they put it on. A fork loader. On top of the. And so, and I guess, you know, according to speculation, they didn't realize that the weight of the car was going to be too heavy for the roof. What kind of car was it? It was a 1966 Chevy Nova. That's awesome. Wow. Yeah. And it fell through the roof and ended up busting through the sprinkler system and then water damage to everything in the business, all their computers and carpets and furniture. That's a good one. Oh, wow. Now they still have no suspects. Is the car okay? I wouldn't assume so. It fell through the roof. Mikey Show. Hello? Yes. Is this Mikey? Yes. How you doing? Hey, that thing is called a petty boom. Oh, petty boom. Petticoat. A front end loader or something like that. That's right. It's called a forklift. That's right. It's called a petty boom. There goes the boom. Petticoat. Petticure.
So there it is. No suspects, right, Sky? Let's see. Other big news is a judge has denied a gag order in the Britney Spears custody case. So that means that I guess legally people could talk about it, but he says, please don't. Yeah, the judge said that the public has a right to know about the court orders. And Brittany's attorney was arguing that the court shouldn't be able to publish dates and times of the hearings and that the attorneys in the case should not be allowed to talk to the media. But the judge says, no, hey, everybody just use your best judgment. You know, try not to talk to the media, but I'm not going to officially do a gag order. CBS officially came out and said that that remark about autistic kids being, quote, retards was offensive by the guy from Big Brother. Adam. Adam. And why did they say that they decided to air it? They went on to say that they left the comment in the broadcast because one of the housemates, Sheila, reacted immediately with shock and condemnation on the screen. And we all saw that. So it's, you know.
Well, it's just interesting because even if she hadn't done that, it's a First Amendment issue. I mean, that guy is a jerk for saying such a thing, but it's a First Amendment issue. He was the idiot that said it. CBS didn't force him to say it. Sure. I agree with that. The Border Patrol has seized 304 pounds of marijuana. Rob. Sorry. On the 15 in Fallbrook. I love weed. Normally they'll catch this stuff at the border, but I guess a car was driving northbound on the 15 yesterday, and the Border Patrol noticed that the trunk of the car, the back end, was a lot lower to the ground than the rest of the car. So they're like, oh, I wonder what they got in there. How about you pull on over, buddy? Just under $250,000 worth of weed in the trunk of that car. That's a lot. I love weed. Confirmed case of measles in San Diego County. Enough with the measles already. They should stop doing that. Quit having measles. So there's two more suspected cases that are awaiting confirmation and still 70 children on home quarantine. Really? Yeah. Bunch of franchise tags went out to different players in the NFL. Yep.
Dallas Clark for the Colts, right? Dallas Clark. You got Terrell Suggs. What about Jared Leto? Not Jared Leto. Jared Leto. Jared Allen. Oh, Jared Allen. He's handsome. Mm-hmm. 49ers cut. Derek Smith. See ya. He's gone. When you have Patrick Willis, I don't think you need Derek Smith anymore. That's true. The Aztecs beat Wyoming. Oh, Ashley. There you go. How about that, Ashley? SDSU. There it is. Uh. And the rumors are that the Nets might trade Vince Carter to the Knicks. Well, yeah, you know, they got rid of Jason Kidd. And so the next move they're saying is that Vince Carter is next to go. Huh. There was a 7.6 earthquake in Indonesia. That's a big quake. Yeah. That's really big. And there was a 5.0 earthquake in Baja. Yeah. Yeah. Actually, that one in Baja yesterday, the 5.0, happened about 2.40 yesterday afternoon and was felt as far north as Carmel Valley. People were saying they felt that one. Really? Yeah. That freaks me out, you know, because... Oh, there's been a whole, like, cluster of quakes going on in the Baja area recently. Do you think they're all connected? Like, let me ask you, do you think that Indonesia thing is somehow weirdly connected to the Baja thing?
Oh, gosh. Well, because, I mean, those plates travel, you know, they're probably hundreds of thousands of miles long. But then why would it make it all the way to Baja before triggering another thing? Think about how underneath the earth. It goes through the earth? Yes. Like when they say if you keep digging, you'll hit China? Don't you? Like that kind of thing? Yeah, I thought you eventually spring up and you can, like, be in a Chinese market and order some orange chicken. Ooh, that was good. Dim sum. Some dim sum. Huh. Yum. Eddie, what's your favorite Chinese thing to get? Oh, don't. Well, I think that's the number 32. Yeah. Yeah, the number 32. It depends. It's such a difficult question. Certain places I like certain different things. Yeah. Like one restaurant that I like, I like their Kung Pao very much because they don't put that disgusting bell pepper in it. Then there's other places I like Mongolian beef. Other places I like chicken fried rice. It just kind of depends. Dude, you know what I like, Josh. You know what I like. You know what Daddy likes. You know what Daddy likes. Little trade action in the sky. Dude, let me tell you. When we lived in San Jose, very high Asian population in San Jose, California. There's a couple. And Sean and Gary.
Sean Vetter. They took me to this disgusting... How dare you? They loved that joint. Which one was it? That place on First Street, dude. Next to Mr. Chow's, but it's like a Vietnamese restaurant. You know that Vietnamese place where it was on First Street and all those places are all next door to each other? And it was so, like, there was not, the menu wasn't in English. It was a plastic, it was a laminated plastic menu. And they'd get the tea with the little, like, rocks in it and try and make you order it. My wife would have walked in and walked right out of there. She wouldn't even have made it to the front door. No way. She's missing out then. And they would order the stinkiest, foulest stuff. Oh, come on. Oh, Shawnee. Dude, they, they. Sean and Skye took me to a sushi place. Remember that sushi place we'd go to that was on the corner of a street? I don't remember what it was. You walk in and it just smelled of fish. I'm like, this isn't good, you guys. Somebody asked me the other day. Our friend Bo asked me the other day about Sean. He goes, what's up with Sean? He goes, because I know he's a germaphobe, but he seems to be okay with pets.
And I said, you know what's weird? I said, if Sean were to walk into an American style, American food restaurant, he would scrutinize everything and he would be disgusted by every part of it. It would be filthy, okay? But that guy can walk into the filthiest Vietnamese or Ethiopian or like... What? The Moroccan. Yeah, dude. Married in a Moroccan restaurant. He did with a monkey. Yeah. There's nothing wrong with this. Talked about the Holocaust. The pastor talked about the Holocaust. He sat on the floor. That's true. He took it the wrong way. Ate with our fingers is what the deal was on a pillow. It was really awesome. We liked it. But Sean will eat in very... strange places. He likes weird cuisine. And he eats it like they do. He'll take the bowl in the Vietnamese restaurant, right? And it'll have the noodles and the broth in there. And he'll take it and put it up to his mouth and go... And he eats with the chopsticks. That's how you do it, bro. And he tried to talk Eddie into for the two years we lived there.
Ethiopian food. And Eddie, every time we go, I'm not going to eat dirt, dude. Ethiopian food. Ethiopia, they got nothing but dirt there. What's our cuisine? Mud? I mean, it doesn't make any sense. All they have is dirt in Ethiopia. What am I going to eat? This conversation would happen every day. I'm not going to eat mud. We would all go out to lunch with each other. Tasty gravel. And where are we going to go? And Sean would go, why don't you guys try Ethiopian? And Eddie would go, I'm not going to eat dirt. Not dirt. It isn't. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, this is P1's stay-at-home dad. So, Sean, he'll drink out of a bowl from some dirty Vietnamese restaurant, and he's not afraid of the germs. Dude, Sean, explain it. It's really hard to explain. I'm getting this weird bounce back, by the way. Do we know what that's... Ashley, take it easy. It's okay. Oh, she's so upset about it. Why is she so mad? She's mad because she gets it set up, and then somebody came in and touched all the stuff and got you messed up, and they didn't put it back, and so she's really upset. Ash, is there something over here that we can... Rob will fix it. Rob will fix it. My boy Rob will take care of me. He is the best. Hang on a second, Sean. He is the best, and I love Rob.
I love Rob. She's in on Rob today. Rob is awesome, and I don't know what I'd do without him. Is she out on Rob? She's taking shots. No, I'm not. I'm just saying, Rob, thank you. You're the best. I appreciate you for taking care of my needs. Sean, is that better? Yeah, it's perfect now. Oh, see that? You're a genius. So explain it, Sean. How is it that you're able to eat at those... filthy Vietnamese restaurants. You don't know that they're filthy. I have eyes. There's fish guts on the floor. Hold on, there's not fish guts on the floor. Somebody's got their pet turtle at the table. The decor may have something to be desired. That's true. It's not true. But most of my germ problems... come from direct contact with people. I don't want to touch people. I don't want to be coughed on by people. I don't want to be kissed by people. And I don't want to touch things directly after someone has touched it, sat on it, in some way done something with it. Go ahead. When you come to Eddie's place or my place, you will openly scrutinize silverware and glasses and stuff like that.
But when we went to that filthy, filthy Vietnamese place, you would eat and drink freely. I wouldn't say I would eat and drink freely, but when I go to places like that, I know what I'm in for. I know that I have to make certain... It doesn't make sense, dude. I'm not saying it makes sense. I'm not saying it makes sense. But I know that there are certain things I have to accept if I'm going to... indulge in that cuisine. It's just the way it is. He loves strange food. I really love food. I love food and I like to eat it the way that the natives eat it. In a way, it makes me feel like I'm a native, like I'm part of that culture. Vietnamese? Why not? What's wrong with that? Sean, what other strange kinds of foods do you like? I wouldn't say I like any strange food. Yeah, baby food isn't strange. Mike?
Ignore that, Sean. Ignore it. So, yeah, it's really strange. You know, I like, obviously, Moroccan food. I like all kinds of Asian food. I like Thai cuisine. Marinare sauce is not strange, Mike. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about when he goes to restaurants. You love Indian food, right, Sean? Yeah, I love Indian food. Moroccan, Indian food. I like Iranian food. Iranian food. Iranian food. Burmese food. Hang on. Stop right there. Stop right there. What? bolognese sean told me this one time that sean told me this one time about this thing that i gotta go that he loves please don't go he talked about this thing that he likes eddie it's this he just signed off it's like this rice thing uh-huh and you have to make it in like a you have to stack the rice like a cone inside of the pot and then and then And then on the lid, you wrap paper towels so that the steam coming off of the rice is soaked up into the paper towel so that the rice comes out in this very fluffy way. Okay. And the kernels don't stick together. And then you put, like, raisins in it and stuff. You put raisins with carrots. Sounds good. You can put, like, lima beans. No, I think that sounds actually good.
Sean, I think that sounds good. Is there like a sauce? And he's plugging his nose. What else can we put in there that's disgusting? No, I think that sounds good. Oh, I know. What about skin flakes? Is that going there too? Is Persian rice normal? Yeah, because skin flakes is food. Sean, is Persian rice like brown rice or what's it like? No, it's white rice. It's basmati rice. Basmati. Basmati. Basmati. Basmati. Don't you leave us. It sounded yummy to me. That's right. He likes all kinds of different foods. 5701053. Oh, look at this. Quimby's calling in to defend Ethiopian food. P1 Quimby is on the line. So you like Ethiopian food? It is so good. It's not dirt. They don't have cuisine there. That's why they're all starving. Exactly. What are you saying? What are you saying? I'm saying it's so tasty and delicious. It's very spicy. Give me an example of something that is Ethiopian food. Well, they have like this special bread that they make. And you kind of like tear off a piece of the bread and they kind of have a meat. It's kind of curried and spicy and very, very tender. It's so good. I was so scared when I walked into the place.
And I actually walked out going, I'm coming back. Have you been back since? Do you have a distended belly? She has not been back since. We're a little far from where I live. I see. But it's tasty. Is it downtown? Is it kind of like Indian food? What was that? It's kind of like Indian food? A little bit like Indian food, but it doesn't make you as stinky after you eat it. What? Well, because when you eat the Indian food, sometimes it's got so much garlic. You know, your breath is smelly. Yeah, it's gross. Thank you. But Ethiopian food, I'm sorry. It's tasty. Thank you, Quimby. Eddie, have you ever been, do you like Indian food? I do not. I'm not a big curry fan. Yeah, thank you. I've tried it. I've tried it. There's several different dishes and it's just not my favorite thing. I'm telling you, there's this place downtown. What's that? It's called Monsoon. Yeah. Oh, and everybody right now that's listening that's ever been to Monsoon, they just started shaking their heads. They collectively went, yeah, dude. That's the stat right there is the bomb. That place is so good. Do you like Indian food, Ash? Yeah, I love Indian food. Ashley, have you ever been to Monsoon? Uh-uh. Dude, it is so good. It's so good. It's like, it's really, really elevated Indian food in terms of like how good it is. I've been looking for a good Indian food. I'm telling you, like you've been to every Indian restaurant that you've ever been to and then...
There's that. Oh, I'm in. I'll take my lover there. Oh, wow. This is getting weird. P1 Sergio is on the line. What's up, Sergio? What's going on, man? How are you, Mikey? Pretty good. Well, how are you guys, I should say? That's right. Good, good. You know what? I see where Sean's coming from. I mean, I'm Mexican. I go to TJ all the time. And when you get to the taco stands, you got some dirty pies making those tacos, but they're delicious. It's very true. You're not going to sit there and be like, oh, no, I can't eat this taco. It's so gross. You just got to eat it. No, Skye's shaking her head. Yeah, you can. Yeah, you sure can. Well, Skye would do that, but we wouldn't. You can be really hungry and look and then go, yeah, I can't do that and keep on walking. Eddie, how much do you think it would cost to get Skye to try some, you know, cabeza taco on a street corner out of a cart? You don't have enough money. Thank you. I'm telling you, man, if you were to take somebody from England to TJ, they'd be like,
It'd be the most foul, disgusting, you know, strange country thing they've ever seen in their lives. But I love it. All right, we got to go. So 570-1053 is the number. Mikey Show, hello. Oh, my goodness. Hey. Hi. Yeah, and I just wanted to call and remind you guys, today is Kurt Cobain's birthday. So you should do a little tribute to him on the air. I see. Well, Kurt, happy birthday. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, this is P1KC out of Akron, Ohio listening to you guys online. I've got a question about how Sean likes it when you have those Vietnamese people in the restaurants, like they're all dirty and stuff, preparing the stuff with their bare hands. Do you think that's happening? Well, Sean has signed off as he does every day at 1030, so I actually do not know what he thinks of that. Yeah, and that's against health codes and who's to say they're dirty and they're doing that. Well, that's true. Please, sir. I'm sure that they're not dirty. I'm just saying that the place that we used to go to looked filthy. The floor was gross. Eddie's right. It just looked gross in there, man. But Sean loved it. Just smelled. Sean loved it. Lovely and talented Missy is up next. Love for you to listen to Missy today on the show.
She's going to be doing the all-request lunch, so make sure you tune in, and we'll see you tomorrow morning at 5.30. The Mikey Show is out of your mouth.
