The Mikey Show Wednesday broadcast featured a mix of music news, listener stories, and offbeat tangents. P.O.D.'s lead singer Sonny lost his voice, canceling their Tonight Show appearance but allowing the other three members to visit the studio for interviews and fan breakfast. The hosts debated weather, office cats, and new iMacs, while callers shared embarrassing date stories, discussed pitch-black dining concepts, and argued about dog breeds. Boston Rob opened up about the Red Sox's 86-year championship drought and his suit-buying mishap at Macy's, and the show touched on 9-11 conspiracy theories via Jesse Ventura, American Idol charity plans, and various trivia games.

Welcome to the show. It is Wednesday and it's 6-0-4. The Olympic torch will make its only U.S. appearance today in San Francisco. The Padres lose in the 11th inning on a Benji Molina home run off of Clay Meredith 3-2. Guy's got enough to deal with. His name's Benji. He was a little kid. That was one of the first movies I probably ever went to see in the movie theater. Benji. He's a cute little dog. Does anyone know what kind of dog Benji was? A Benji dog. He was a Benji dog. But, you know, it's like I thought that a collie was a Lassie forever. So, you know, because that's what they are. So they look like Lassie was a chick. Benji was a dude, right? I think so. Yeah. So welcome to the show. My name is Mikey and I'm wearing a blue shirt today. No particular reason. Just stuck out to me. I decided blue.
Our phone number, 570-1053. I got to get this out there as quickly as I can. Sonny, the lead singer of P.O.D., lost his voice. He was supposed to be on The Tonight Show last night and had to cancel. P.O.D. had to cancel their Tonight Show appearance, and so they have to cancel singing this morning. Now, what I've been told is that the rest of the guys from the band are coming in. Sonny is resting. And he's trying to get that voice back. But the rest of the guys are coming in. And we'll still interview them in the performance studio. And anybody that had one is still welcome to come down, enjoy some breakfast, get to see and meet the guys. Not going to be doing the performance because Sonny's out.
You need to fill in on some vocals? Well, I don't know how you would do it. Actually, you know what? Ashley. I shouldn't steal the life from Ashley. She is our nationally recognized singer. Sky, you're way better than I am. Well, but no. But, I mean, you get the national recognition. That's what I'm saying. National recognition's mission, Sky. Your voice is way better than mine. Wow. And you know it. Yeah. I understand. And I'll do that, vocals. But, Mike, let's be honest. Who's got the better voice? Well, listen, Ash. I think you're selling yourself short. You with the song Boom. You with the song Boom. Come on. Boom. Here comes the boom. Ready or not. Here comes the buzz from the south. You know what I'm saying, though? Well said. I think that could be pretty good. I mean, whatever you guys need me to do, I'm here. That's what I'm talking about. That's right. 570-1053 is the phone number. And you can call us at the beginning and end of every show. And you call about anything you want. We'd love to talk to you. I just, I don't understand the weather, man. Is it hot or is it cold? Is it hot or is it cold? April showers made flowers. But we had like March heat wave. We had like March heat wave where it was like, you know. Global warming. Seriously.
It was like Indio or Brawley or, you know, whatever. El Centro. You know, March heat wave brings April rash. Exactly. Exactly. It was just weird, man. You remember those couple of days we had in March where it was like 175 degrees? Yeah. And then it got really warm a couple of days early in April. It's April 9th now. And then yesterday it was like all cloudy and cold. Make up your mind already, Mother Nature. Get this thing rolling. I'm ready for summertime. Yeah, I don't know. This has been a change in me over the last few years or whatever. But I kind of like it, you know. It's kind of nice for whatever reason. Rather being warm than cold. There's really nothing I got to share right now. There's really nothing going on. My wife made cupcakes, which is always a good thing. And she makes me get them out of the house. So funny. She leaves me a note.
on the container that says, please take these to work and get them out of here. And she'll keep one aside. And then on the way here, I had to hit my brakes and they went in the little container and the frosting stuck to the top. I hope that we can still enjoy. I got a development to tell you guys about. I didn't tell you. So the cats are officially out of my office. And they're in the garage now. In fact, if my wife is listening, honey, you got to put that little door back. She took the little kitty door. She removed the plastic part that they flipped through. Please, please tell me, Sky.
Well, my first thought is just, you know, heating and cooling issues. Yes. You know, because basically you're just letting all the heat or cool into the garage. Right. It's a waste of money and energy. Absolutely. I'm totally down with that thought. Well, then, so I have three main thoughts. I love that one. Okay. Let's make that one numero uno. Okay. The second thought that I have is we closed off. That part of the garage. So when you go in there now, it's a small area. It's a little room, yeah. Okay. And so my other thought is when they're doing their thing in there. Thank you, Eddie. Eddie gets it. I think we all get it, right? Okay. And it's connected to like our front room. Yeah, wasn't that the point? Yeah. So you don't have to. So you don't have to enjoy it. Enjoy it. Jules is like, hey. I got a good one. What did you guys think about that? Scale of 1 to 10. You know, 1 being not very magnificent. Which it isn't. And 10 being really memorable. Yeah. It's an 11. It's about 11 or 12. Every time. Yeah, so that's the other issue. And then my third issue is what if rodents can leap?
Well, I thought that, but I didn't want to say it because I didn't want to freak you out. Sure. Yeah, rats. No, not rats. Yeah, rats in the house. Eddie. They probably are already there. Stop doing that. Okay, Eddie. Let's be prepared. Let's be prepared. No. So anyway, so here's the new deal, right? So here's the new thing. All right. My new computer is this iMac. It's called the iMac. You guys would trip out on this. When I figured this out, it would sprain my brain. Okay, you know how you have your regular computer and it's got the tower? I think I told you about this. It's got the tower? So you put the tower. Eddie, where do you put your tower? What do you mean tower? Well, on your computer, you've got your screen and then you've got the computer. The computer tower, it's called. Where do you put your tower? Right beside the computer desk. Right beside, on the floor? On the floor. On the floor, okay. And I used to do something very similar. I had this, it was called a CPU holder bolted to the bottom of my desk and it kept it off the ground and you, you know, that kind of deal. It was stupid. I wish I hadn't done it actually now. I wish I'd just put a cinder block down there and stuck it on that. But the iMac has no tower. The iMac, the computer is the screen. When you open up your box, all you have is a screen and a mouse and a keyboard. That's it. That's their whole thing.
It's like keeping it streamlined, beautiful, like real cool and like all contained. The whole computer's in the screen. It's really awesome. So when you put a disc in, you put it in the screen, in the side of the screen. I had no idea. I didn't either. Like when I got it, I was like, where's the computer? They left the computer. No, it's all right there. But the thing is, is that just like any computer, it's pretty warm, you know? And so now that we kick the cats out, we close the door and it's a small office. I walked in there the other day and I thought that Ashley was in there doing that heated yogurt or something. Yogurt? Yeah, that yogurt that she does, you know, the heated yogurt. It was hot in there. And so, you know, now I got to figure that out. And I said to Rebecca last night, I go, should we open that door up? And she goes, well, I had it closed because I didn't think you want the cats going in there. And I go, does that mean that they'll pee still? Because they still smell that that's where they're supposed to be? And she goes, well, they're not supposed to. Their stuff is outside now. They know where it is. They're supposed to go there. I'm like, oh, man. And Jules, just for the look on my face, Jules will do it. Just to see that look on my face. Oh, is something wrong, Mike? What's the matter, bro? What's the matter, little guy?
Did you notice something that I left behind? No. Yeah. Let's turn that frown upside down. Nice fragrance for you. Eddie is our producer, our sports guy. He's not a cat guy, man. He's like me. He's not a cat guy. He hates him. Loves dogs. First order of business, he says, in the new house, when he gets a new house, is dog. Yeah, dog. What kind of dog are you going to get, Eddie? I don't know yet. I don't know. We'll see what catches my eye. I know you like them Jack Russells. Yeah, I really do. They're cute, man. Yeah, they're crazy. Sky says they're all wiry. Yeah, I like them. Out of control. Until they get, I don't know, maybe about three, four years old, they are out of control. That's how my puppy is. Maybe you can get a three- or four-year-old. Nah, I want them out of control. Do you want him out of control? Say goodbye to all your baseboards. Say goodbye to your life. The bottom of your furniture. Your headphones. You can't scare me off. All those things. You can intimidate me off. Your gum, your headphones, your shoes. Well, I'm just saying there's other breeds that maybe wouldn't be so out of control. Wow. You're a doggist. I am not a doggist. Wait. You're a doggist. Yeah, what, listen. Does that mean I like them or hate them? What kind of dog breed doesn't want to do anything at all?
doesn't like to bark, is extraordinarily lazy, and just sleeps all the time. But you need a little bark. I know the exact breed. What is it, Sean? It is a greyhound. Seriously? That's what they're like? I thought they were all wiry too. They're not? No, they're not. Like you would think that they are because they're great runners. All they want to do is lay around on the couch with you. They don't want to move. They don't want to bark. They don't want to do anything. They just want to lay around with you. Oh, that's what I want. Yeah, they're so awesome. Oh, maybe I'll rescue a greyhound. But you need a little bark. You know, a little bark is good when you're a homeowner. You know, a little security system. A little bark. A little bark. A little fresh bark. A little bark. Then you get into the point where you could be watching, say, the Animal Planet, and there's a knock on the door on TV, and then the dog's barking at that, going to the front door, howling, thinking that it's the front door. See, she's a doggist, dude. She's a doggist. Okay, and then you're like, how about you don't bark? How about you never bark again? Sounds like a dumb dog. Just wait until you get your dog. That's right. You don't know. I actually have had probably about six dogs in my lifetime. That's right. I kind of do know.
I've had plenty too, but when was the last time you had a dog? I've had 20 dogs. What does that matter? You guys, I've had 49 dogs. I gave birth to a dog. Yeah, well, I'm a dog. I heard you did. Because I'm just saying that, you know, I hadn't had a dog since I was like... What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that mean? I think we know. I don't know what that means. Hey, Eddie, did you guys go to Forever Fun, do you? Yes, we did. I want to go there, man. It's cool, man. It is probably the coolest... like, date spot there is. Because it's really intimate and you're like, you know, you're cooking your food. There's something about cooking your food. I don't know what it is. It's just a cool place. You're cooking your food? Yeah. I thought it was, all you did is that they, I thought for whatever reason that they cook it, you dip it. No. You get it raw. Like, whatever you order, you know, if you order vegetables or you order meat or whatever, it comes out raw. You put it on the skewer. You put it in the boiling liquid, whatever. You can get, like, vegetable or beef broth or whatever broth you want. You put it in there. You cook it for, like, three minutes, and it's done. There's, like, a little pot in front of you? Yeah, there's a pot on a burner in front of you. Trippy. On every table. That sounds pretty awesome. Yeah, it's really cool. Yesterday was Eddie's birthday, so his wife took him there. Was it your choice? Like, that's where you wanted to go? No, she asked me where I wanted to go. I said I didn't care. So she's like, all right, well. You guys hear about, you know, Craig Gass, the guy that does voices.
Good friend of ours. You know, he lives in New York, right? He's telling me about this restaurant that he was going to. In fact, we got to ask him if he ever went. Not in a million years could you get me there. And it's like all the rage in New York right now. Like, it's a big thing. Never. You couldn't pay me. You couldn't. And I'm being serious. Like, you couldn't say, come on, dude. I'll give you $1,000 if you'll go eat there. The concept of the restaurant is you are completely in the dark. I've seen that actually. They did it on that stupid Bret Michaels Rock of Love. Where they had like a date there. That's creepy. I don't get it. They take you down and it's like. It's supposed to enhance your senses. Yeah. Because you're not seeing. Aren't you like sticking food in your eyeball and then you don't know what you're eating. You don't know where your mouth is. It's dark. I mean, it's dark. Eddie's now poking himself in the eye. It's dark. You have junk all over your face. You don't know it. No chance. That sounds so creepy and weird. Is it dim in there or is it pitch black? No, pitch black. Somebody seats you. They take you. They lead you, seat you. Yeah, in fact, they employ blind people usually.
That is so not okay. That's a trip, man. Yeah. Like, why? Like, oh, creepy. I don't really get it. That would be so much fun, though. No. You could fart next to whoever. I mean, immediately it's about farting. I'm just saying, I think that experience would be crazy. You could get away with so much stuff. Rob would be like, ah, who is that? I don't know. How do they know you're going to pay? Who was doing that? Oh, really? Yeah, I'm paying my bill. Eating other people's food? Who cares? It's awesome. How do you know what you're actually eating? Do they cut the meat for you? I think they do. They tell you what's up and you order. Can you imagine? This guy thinks she's eating meat. I would never. I'm not that trusting. Eddie, would you do it? Does that interest you? It does not interest me at all, but I would do it. For the experience? I guess. If everybody was like, hey, let's go to that restaurant. I would go. I wouldn't care. But it's not like I would not like go seek it out. I'd be like, have fun, guys. Stop paying your electric bill for three months. Yeah, Rob's like, I got that restaurant. Yeah, I ate there last night. I've actually been eating this since the 14th of last month. Skye is our news girl. She's 30 years of age. None of us are really a fan of those headphones she wears.
Been wearing them forever. No. Dude, you know, I forgot to tell you, I almost hit a coyote right outside the building this morning. There's a coyote here? There was a coyote trotting down the street outside the radio station. It wasn't a dog. No, I swear. It turns out it was a dog. Yeah. Unless it's a dog that looks like a coyote. For real. Holding, like, a huge Acme anvil. Oh, my God. It was a giveaway. Dude, how crazy. I didn't know there was coyotes around here. Yeah, but I guess there's all these little, like, ravines around. There's canyons around here. Yeah, canyons is a better word. Murphy Canyon. Oh, hello. I wonder if that means that they're getting scared out of there or something. Yeah. Damn people. I know. We should move out, right? Right. Let them just have everything. Well, they were here first. No! Sean is our sound effects man. He's tall and he does his own hair. I do. Cuts his own hair. He shorns himself. I'm proud of it. I have adopted his method as well. Really? Yeah, I have. Now when I trim my beard, I do what Sean does. I take a garbage bag and I spread it out on the sink. It's really clean. Wow.
I used to do it with a towel, but then the little hairs would stick to the towel. So I don't do that. I do what Sean does, and I throw it away. This is pretty great. I make a lot of garbage, you guys. I noticed that about myself. Kleenex and, you know, little tinfoil things that pills come in. I make a lot of Q-tips. Just bathroom garbage? Bathroom garbage. Kitchen. How often do you have to take out your garbage? We have to a lot because of Jake and baby stuff. Oh, yeah. A lot of baby stuff. No, no, no, no. We got a genie for that. Oh, the diaper genie? Yeah, it keeps the smell out. Does that thing really work? Yeah, but it's disgusting when you got to, when you, you know what it is? It works once it's closed. But when you got to put a freshie in there, you're like, oh, man, come on.
Already. Let's see. Ashley's our assistant producer. She's 24 years old, and she's got blonde hair and brown eyes. She's got brown skin. She's of German descent, but she's got 1% African-American blood, she says. 0.1%. 0.1%. Yeah. It's really hard for me in yoga, too, because my butt is so big, and it's like I'm trying to, like, tell the teacher that it's, like, in me. Like, it's in my spine that I've got, like, a ghetto booty. And she tells her. And so it's hard for me because all the time, tuck in your tailbone, tuck in your tailbone. And I'm like, I freaking am. I am 0.1% African-American. I've heard her do it. She'll be like, I can't tuck this thing in anymore. You know, I'm tucking in. Girl. My freaking tailbone. I just have a ghetto booty. That's the chocolate I'm talking about. Ghetto booty. I'm tucking that thing in, okay? What you want me to do? What you want? Hey. Shoot. This is what I was giving. Shoot. You can't put away what you can't put away. You can't tuck the junk in the trunk. That's right. You got it. You can't get rid of it. So. Hi.
Boston Rob is 25, engaged to be married, and likes the Boston Red Sox. He follows them. We've said it before. What it is for him is it's a stressful, you know, however many months it is. Five, six months. Yeah, depending. And there's no joy in it. Even when they're in the world. It's not until it's actually like they won. And it's only happened once. In the last 86 years. Twice. Twice. Twice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where the last game is played, and now they've won it, and then he can relax. But up until that point, he's just stressed out about that baseball team. They had Bill Buckner throw out the first pitch yesterday, their home opener. How do you feel about that, Rob? It's got to be weird. I missed that. I have to watch it today. I recorded it because I didn't get out of here until late. I got to see what the rings look like, and they're amazing. I'll have to show you a picture. And then they did Neil Diamond doing a live recording of Sweet Caroline for the bottom of the eighth, and he half-assed it. Oh, no. Are you okay? Oh, no. No. Sorry, Rob. He, like... Sorry, Rob. He said the lyrics instead of singing it. You know what I mean?
That's offensive. Don't like that. That's offensive. He's going to play at Fenway this year, August 23rd. But, like, don't come with that attitude. Write that down. I'm not going now. I'll be sure. I'm returning my tickets. Rumor has it that Boston Rob bought a suit. That's right. Can we talk about this, Rob? I'm sorry, what? Can we talk about it? I don't want to. Well, Rob. He didn't know I was going to bring this up. Yeah, Rob. Hey. Rob bought a suit. And it was. He probably doesn't think I'll tell you the tie story either, but Rob is going to be going to a very special little event with his fiancée. Oh. No, no, no. We just did, and I'm going to be using it for another one. He's going to use it for everything now. Yeah. Oh, yeah. But Rob didn't know how to do a tie. He didn't know how to tie a tie. It's not easy. And so, Rob, why don't you tell everybody how you tied the tie?
Well, you want to hear about the suit first? Sure. Because I was going to show up in my Curt Schilling jersey. Oh, what? I didn't know it was a... I forget. I get them... A non-Red Sox event. I didn't know that. No, no, no. She said it's a step down from black tie, cocktail attire, or some kind of... Ah, Schilling jersey. And it was like a Catherine... Yes. Catherine, a... Aubrey Hepburn? Audrey Hepburn? Babe, you know I have not taken my jersey to the cleanest. No, this one is clean. So I figured, you know, my good jeans, tuck in the shilling jersey. Oh, my.
No hat, and I'll be good to go. That's dressed up. Wow. Cocktail. That's cocktail, yeah. Cocktail attire. And my cubic zaconians. Yeah, that's right. Oh, man. Turned out we had to go to Macy's on the way to the party. How do you like that? Wow. I just followed her around. I own my first suit ever, though. That's awesome. How'd you do that tie? Dude. Well, I first, I was kind of being, you know, a joker about it and just tied it in a knot. And I was like, how do I look? Pretty good. Realize that that was not funny to her. And we're almost there at the party. So they give you a little pamphlet. Who gives you a pamphlet? Macy's does. They do? Yeah. When you buy a tie? You could do the half Windsor, the full Windsor. They give you a little handbook. No way. They give you a little handout. That's kind of cool. And it took me forever. And the last one on there was, I didn't know that the actual tie can be done into a bow tie.
I thought a bow tie was just a thing you bought, like a clip-on bow tie. Right. I had no idea those get actually tied up. That's right. So I was trying to convince her to let me work on that one, but she was telling me that, you know, we're going to be there in another 10, 15 minutes, just get the tie done. So he took out his little handbook and he made himself, he tied his tie. That's great. Three shots and I got it. You're a smart guy. You're a smart boy. Hey, I got to say this again, just in case people are just tuning in. If you are coming down here for the POD performance, the three guys from POD are going to be here. Sonny is not. He's not going to be singing. And they're not going to be performing. The reason Sonny lost his voice, they had to cancel the Tonight Show last night. But the three guys are still going to come down. And so it's up to you. If you want the tickets to be able to come down here, you can come down and you can still. You know, be in the performance studio while we do the interview with the guys and you can meet the guys and everything. But that's a deal. That's what's going on with Sonny. Watch me and Skye's performance. That's right. They're going to be great. The duet. We'll give it our best. 570-1053 is our phone number. Zethia Notes is, you know, obviously recovering from being hit by a car. Yep. We told you about that yesterday. Roosevelt, Zethia Notes, how are you doing? I am well. How are you? I'm good. Is everything good in your life? Yeah.
Were you, how's your girlfriend? She's doing good. Her name is Kelsey. Yes, it is. And how about you? Do you have a dog? I do. What kind? It's a blue nose pit bull. Whoa. I did not know that. Yeah. A blue nose. Does it actually have a blue nose? No, it's like the different type of breed. Like there's the blue nose and the red nose, basically. What's the difference? One's a crip, one's a blood. Basically, yeah. Red has just blood everywhere on it because it kills babies. No. That's right. Does your girlfriend have a dog? Yeah. What kind? I forget what it is. It's like a toy fox terrier, I think. Oh, you should let your dogs play together. One bite and that thing would be gone. I was chasing her dog around the backyard for 20 minutes. It was ridiculous. That thing is like the chicken and Rocky. I felt like an idiot. It did not want to go inside. That's funny. Ashley can tell you what to do. She had to do that out there at that dog park with her dog. She says, you know what you do? Eventually you just go, hey, listen, dog, I'm going home. This is so crazy. Last night, too, I'm freaking taking her out to go take her to the restroom. And I didn't have time to see her at the dog park last night. And she slips out of my hand and takes off.
for the dog park. Almost got hit by a car again and just ran straight for the dog park. Do you not have a leash? She slipped out of my hand. Well, wait a minute. Wait a minute. I have a question. What about if you're taking her out to go to the bathroom when you're eventually going to have to let her out of your hands anyway to go to the restroom unless you hold her while she does it? No, I have the leash and I'll just take her to like different lawn spots. So you had the leash, but she took off. I didn't have a big grip on it. And she took off and it slipped. And I'm like, get back here. So she was dragging the leash? And she was gone, dragging the leash, jetted across the street, almost got hit by a Jeep, and then went straight into the dog park to see all her friends. That's not good. And you trained dogs, right? Oh, yeah. You should have seen her when I adopted her from the shelter. She was a rat. Yeah, she was way worse. I've only had her for three months, and you want to know what? I've trained her already. That's right. We'll make a list for you. Sounds like it. P1 Garrett. Stop. Stupid. Go ahead, Garrett. I was just wondering if you guys thought about that show, Rock and Men.
Who watches Rock of Love? I've seen several episodes. I've seen every episode. Yeah, I can't watch every episode. I watched last season. What do you guys think? What do you think, Shawnee? What was the question? What do you think of Rock of Love? Oh, I thought it was a really great program. Wow. Can I speak, please? You made, Shawnee. I'm listening. It's very entertaining that, you know, all the women are complete train wrecks. There are some that you like, some that you don't. They have the right mix of slutty and funny and, you know, it's a quality show. And Bret Michaels, I think, is a... Excuse me. May he speak? Are we talking about the same show that I've seen? And I think Brett is a really likable sort of like bachelor type. Are you crazy? No. Are you crazy? Now, for those of you that are unfamiliar with the show. That's why it's like one of the number one shows on cable. Yeah, it's real good. For those of you that are unfamiliar, Rock of Love is like the show The Bachelor. Only in this case, The Bachelor is Brett Michaels, lead singer of the band Poison.
And he's got all these bims. They come on and he's supposed to find love with them. I could never watch it in a million years. The only difference is you feel like you need to take a shower after every time you watch the STDs are catching on you. Yeah, through your speakers. It's disgusting. The girls are disgusting. Brett is foul. Sean, he makes out with every single one of them immediately. Yes, it's true. He's got to find true love. He's not looking for true love. You can't do that by just looking at somebody. Test drive. You are the best. Wow. There you go. What do you think, Garrett? I'm with you guys. I don't like any of the girls on there. I think they're all trashy. Brett, I don't know. He makes out with all of them, like you said. In front of the other girls. It's not like he takes them aside. Let's see. P1 Hammer Cat, are you there? Hey, what's up, Mikey? What's going on, man? Hey, Sean's absolutely right, man. Italian Greyhound is going to be the best companion dog for Eddie. There you go. I like it. Well, Eddie's not the one that cares about the dog not doing anything. That's me. It would be a great companion dog for me to have him not do anything. I would love it.
P1 Ryan. Hey, good morning, Mike and Michelle. What's going on, dude? Hey, I was just calling to see if you guys supported the running of the Olympic torch or if you were supporting China, supporting the free Tibet. I support China, man. No, that's not what you mean. Don't say that. The world in such a way that the Chinese leaders sit down with a Dalai Lama and then everything will be okay. The six-mile relay is expected to begin at 1 o'clock this afternoon and travel along the city's waterfront. But officials say they could change that route at any time because of security concerns. If you're interested in all of this and checking in on how the torch is doing. I'm really not. It is a mess.
commotion around it, so to speak. The streaming coverage of today's Torch Relay will be on our website. This is beginning at 11 o'clock this morning. It'll continue through 6 o'clock tonight, depending on the events. Go to NBCSanDiego.com and click on our special San Diego to Beijing icon. I am very against the events of the Chinese, what they're doing to the people in those places that stuff's happening, and I just say no to it. Say no to it. Yeah. What do you think, Ryan, about that? I love the Olympics. Every four years I'm watching it. I love it. Yeah, shot put's cool. All right, bro, thank you. Thank you very much. Yeah, there's a lot of protests. They're bringing it to America today. It's going to be in San Francisco, and there's going to be protesters because of the events. Oh, it's been crazy. The other day, people scaled the Golden Gate Bridge to put up free Tibet signs. When it was like in London and Paris, people were climbing up the Eiffel Tower to throw water on the torch. Dude, it's like crazy right now. I don't know what's going on. I feel a little ignorant. I explained it to you yesterday. One more time, Sky. The people are upset at the nation of China because they're doing what now? So the Olympics are being held in China. Yep.
But many people aren't very happy with China because of the whole issue with Tibet. You know, people want Tibet to be free. They don't want it, you know, under Chinese rule. And then the other thing is to do with the Sudan and genocide going on in the Sudan and the relationship that China has with the Sudan. You know, onlookers basically look at that as them condoning the genocide, China condoning the genocide going on there. And we don't want to be, well, some people don't want to be a part of that. I see. There it is. That's why people are upset. We've got a good show today. Our text number is 35253. Our phone number is 5701053. And everybody loved when Jesse Ventura came on the Mikey Show. And I did too. I really like Jesse Ventura. I thought that he is a very affable guy. I like his personality. Well, he was on Hannity and Combs last night. And Sean Hannity told him that he's going Rosie O'Donnell on him and that he's a 9-11 conspiracist. Oh, no. And we have audio. So we'll do that when we come back and keep you updated on what's going on with this POD deal. Plus, the mother of one of those cheerleaders that attacked the girl in the house. You've probably seen the video now on YouTube or on television, and we've got her comments.

I just wanted to tell you, you know, I called AIS and talked to a kid named Carlos out of Escondido, and they saved me like $700 a quarter on my auto insurance. $700 a quarter? Yeah. I don't know what a quarter is. That's every three months or four months? It's every six months. I don't think that's a quarter, but that's neither here nor there. All right, every six months they save you how much? $600 because I had it suspended on my record when I finally got my license when I was 25 years old. I never drove before. This guy is saving $1,200 a year by switching to AIS. Yep. That's phenomenal, dude. Yeah, I think I might go get some laser icers right now with that money. You should. You might as well. Hey, listen, in all seriousness, you're writing checks for so much less every month. You can use that money on yourself in a fun way. Yeah, I appreciate it. You know, it really helped me out. I was thinking about it, and I called them, and I went out on a whim, and, you know, they were really cool, and they hooked me up with a good...

In theaters Friday, April 18th. Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. I'm getting to be a rough ride out of Escondido, and you're dealing with a little bit of rain in some areas of the North County, especially. It's kind of starting to move east right now, but it is leaving the roadway slick enough to cause some problems this morning, so be careful. South 15, you've got a slow one coming off to 78 down into Rancho Bernardo, Carmo Mountain Ranch off and on. Your coaster ride's also picking up some brake lights in the South 5 out of Encinitas and Decelana Beach. It hasn't been too bad this morning out of the East County.
A minor delay in the westbound 52 coming off the 125 up towards Mass Boulevard. West 8, you're good to go in the Mission Valley. The West 94 is clear into downtown. A little bit slow, though, out of the South Bay now on both the 5 and the 805 northbound. It's come up to National City. 805 bunching up again here from Home Avenue in the North Park. John McLaurin's on Rock 105.3. I've been talking about the Hard Rock downtown for a little while now and been telling you about the opportunity you have to become an owner of one of the suites in the Hard Rock downtown. And, you know, basically they gave me all the information on it. To me, it sounds like a great investment and a great opportunity. But it wasn't until we went down there last Friday where I realized, A, this is a jewel in San Diego that is unbelievable. And B, how rad it is to be an owner, you know, how you're treated. You know, I've been talking about this rock royalty. Well, it's, you know, it sounds cool, you know, like, oh, you're going to be treated like a rock star and all this stuff. Yeah, that sounds great. But until you actually do get treated like that, you're like, holy cow. Well, because I remember after we had dinner there, you disappeared. And I was like, where's Eddie? And they're like, he's in the VIP bar. And I'm like, what is the VIP bar?
I want to go. And they're like, no, you can go. If you're a guest of Eddie and Eddie is part of their rock royalty, you can go into the VIP bar. Yeah. I didn't even know it was there. It was basically a comp bar that they have for the owners of the suites there. So cool. And you really do get treated like a VIP, like a rock star. And, you know, just all the things that come with being an owner of the Hard Rock downtown, it's beyond words. It's really beyond words. Next time you're in the gas lamp or go to a Padre game or whatever, Swing by the Hard Rock downtown and just take a look for yourself because when you just walk into the lobby, you will know what I'm talking about. So check it out, Hard Rock downtown San Diego. Now back to the Mikey Show featuring Mikey. I like all types of foods. I have no food allergies. Eddie. A little bit of a Star Wars fan. Yes. I've seen the original Star Wars probably over 200 times. Sky. conservative on a daily basis when it comes to the wardrobe. Sean. I floss a minimum of three times a day. Boston Rock. It's a transient style that I've developed. And Ashley. I can't control my laughter. I laugh at everything. On Rock 105.3. Yeah, dog. I wonder why, years ago, Snoop Dogg decided that his home stopped Snoop Dogg.
What was it, like, because dogs were mean, or, like, and it was, like, a tough thing, or what was it? I think he looks like Snoopy. He kind of does. Oh, okay. I think that. I think I heard that before. Is that what the deal is, because he looked like Snoopy? Yeah. Yep. That makes sense. Hey, Mikey, just wanted to let you know that rodents do leap and or jump. Please get my wife on the phone, Ashley. Wow. Oh, no. Probably making waffles right now in your kitchen. Oh, dude. Waffles? That sounds good. That genuinely freaked me out. Oh, I did. I just pictured them in there with a waffle maker and a whole thing. I picture those chef hats. Yeah, chef hats. Those little rats from the Muppets. Hey, Mikey, the iMac gets hotter because unlike the PC, the Mac doesn't use a cooling fan. They use a metal plate to dissipate the heat. Yeah, I'll say. It's like having a little oven in the room. Mikey, the new POD CD rocks. I was at the store to buy it first thing yesterday morning. I listened to it all day. I love it.
That's from P1 Honey Baked Hot Dog. Sounds delicious. I'll say it does. If you haven't heard, POD is not going to be performing this morning. They're coming down sans Sonny. Sonny, his voice is gone, man. Yeah, I know. They had to cancel the Tonight Show last night. And knowing these guys the way I know them, I know they're bummed about this. It's the worst time for them. I mean, their album just came out yesterday, poor thing. I know, I know. But they're going to be here, and so everybody that won tickets to be able to come and hang, you can still come down here. I just wanted to give you the heads up in case you were like, well, if they're not going to do the performance, I better go to work, whatever. I want to give you the opportunity to make that choice. They're cool guys, though. I'm sure they'll take pictures with you and sign autographs, all that stuff. Absolutely. I don't want to speak for them, but, I mean, they're really cool guys. Plus, we're going to have breakfast for you. Oh, well, duh. Free food? Forget it. That's right. I'll be there. So if you did win the tickets, you should come down. It's still going to be a pretty good time. Awesome. So before we went to break, I told you that Jesse Ventura, who was on the Mikey show, and we all really loved him. He's a pretty interesting guy. He was just on Hannity and Combs. And if you don't know anything about Hannity and Combs, these are two dudes that don't agree, but they do a show together. Sean Hannity is very conservative. Alan Combs, very liberal.
And they get on the air together and they make magic. It's like you and Skye. It's like me and Skye. We're like Hannity and Combs. There you go. So here was Jesse Ventura on their show yesterday, Cut 32. One thing I did that I read in the book that I just totally found just alien to me is this idea that you believe in 9-11 conspiracies. Well, let me tell it to you this way. Why is it that when you ask any question about 9-11, you're immediately attacked? I'm not attacking you. You're not, but no, I'm speaking in general. I'm not saying you guys, but I've watched. People get attacked. People have their credibility attacked. My problem is I look at it and I go, how can two planes knock down three buildings? Pretty easy. It's a 747. But there were three buildings that went down. Well, there was a lot of fire and there was a lot of damage. Well, first of all, jet fuel blew up at the start. Jet fuel is four-fifths. And I don't want to stay on this. I'd rather talk other things. But jet fuel is four-fifths kerosene. It doesn't burn hot. So using the analogy that it could melt the metal, then propane burns hot. Listen, I wasn't there.
Something tells me that those fires were hot. Listen, I saw them. Maybe if we actually took a temperature and we stuck it in the middle of the fire, we'd be like, hey, not hot. Cold, actually. 98.6. All I'm saying is that when you say whatever you want, we saw what we saw. And I have an answer, by the way, before we go any further. I have an answer for Mr. Ventura as to why people start to attack. It's anger. And the reason that they're mad is because it hurts us. I think that many Americans, they get hurt by the notion that we were behind something so atrocious. And so it hurts me. When I hear it, it hurts me. And I get angry. Unpause. Yeah. But jet fuels four-fifths kerosene. It doesn't burn hot. So using the analogy that it could melt the metal, then propane burns hotter. So if you turn on your camp stove for three hours, shouldn't it melt the grates? But it doesn't, does it? I want to take one issue. It doesn't. And I just question. You're showing Rosie O'Donnell on here. And I do. You know, wait a minute. That's Rosie O'Donnell. Well, I know a little bit. How can they fall at the rate of gravity?
They fell at the rate of gravity in powder. They blew into powder. But if it were true, a lot of engineers would have come out before that. Pause. I guess that was it. Well, you know, let's take our campfire kerosene thing and let's stick it on the World Trade Center. And let's see if it burns it down. But the fire that was involved here, Jesse, was a little bigger than the campfire thing. It was a lot bigger. Many, many, many, many, many square feet wide and, you know, a gigantic ball. What does he mean it can't fall at the rate of gravity? Yeah, I was wondering that, too. What the heck does that even mean? What the heck you mean? What the heck you mean? Well, all that's too smart for me. It's way too smart for me, too. Not me. Ashley's got to figure it out.
I'm in the middle of writing a book about it right now. The Padres lost their 11th game yesterday, and Skye's got her hands up in a victory stance. No, no, no. She's a San Francisco Giants fan. We did not lose. No, no, no. I'm sorry. In the 11th. I'm sorry. I misspoke. They lost in the 11th inning. It's a win for us either way. That's right. Second one of the year. Hey, we'll take it where we can get it, Eddie. You need it. I don't care what inning we're in. I don't care what city we're in. Eddie, what happened? What happened? Well, their catcher, Benji Molina, hit a hole. home run off Clay Meredith in the 11th to give them the win. But the Padres, they had come back tied in the ninth. Right at the end. Then it went into the 11th. And it didn't happen. Can't win every game. Let's see. Oh, you know, that thing, Idol gives back, is huge, man. Okay, so name the stars that are going to be on TV tonight. It doesn't matter if you don't watch. I don't watch American Idol anymore. I haven't been watching TV. But that doesn't matter. If you're not a fan of American Idol or whatever, tonight is the night. Even I'm going to be watching this tonight. I mean, it's going to be huge. Name the stars that are on there tonight. Like everybody. Brad Pitt, Rihanna, Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey. I mean, so many. Too many to name. The idea is that they are, you know, it's charity. Nice. What are they doing? They're going to tell people to call in and give money, right? Yeah, this is the second annual. They raised $76 million last year. What does the money go to?
A variety of causes. Relief efforts here and in Africa. That's cool. Was Ellen supposed to be involved in the show or something? Yeah, she was supposed to co-host with Ryan Seacrest, but then at the last minute, she canceled. Here's Ashley's good friend, Nigel Lithgow. Great man. Executive producer of American Idol, who she met in person. He's a great man. That's right, he's a great man. But he didn't put you through. We bonded. We're friends. But he said mean stuff to you. No, he didn't. He compared you to William Hung. It was in a very loving way. Oh, I understand that. Here's Nigel Lithgow explaining the Ellen situation. Cut 51. Ellen, we were told, couldn't do it due to personal production pressure. And it's going to be taken over by Ryan. We believe that's a lie. A big fat lie. Can people just talk English? Like, I don't understand what they mean. Hey, you guys want to do a little Lyrical Gangsta? Oh. So, Lyrical Gangsta is where we ask you a trivia question about lyrics. Like, let's say that the song that we're talking about is a song from Stained. We give you a question that's in the lyrics. You've got to answer it. What's the prize today, Eddie?
I think we have some tickets to go see, what's his name, Daniel Tosh. He's a comedian. Cool. I'll go double text. And if you want to text message The Mikey Show, just text us at 35253. Just got a text from Pedro the Cricket. Eddie, he wanted me to ask if they do tamales at that Forever Fondue. He'd like to skewer a tamale and, you know, obviously nacho. That's ridiculous. I'll text him back and let him know. I assumed, but I wanted to ask. They do have like a nacho cheese course. They do. Or if that's what you like, yeah. So you can stick stuff in the nacho cheese. You will not. You will be at the bottom of the river. I'm dead. I'm dead with a shark. Forget it. No, you're not.
You punch him in the nose, you give him a little lick. He gets one taste, dude. He's like, I'm gone. I taste sweet. They just, they'll bite and they'll test it. And then if it's not like a, you know, whatever they're trying to eat, let it go. You're delicious. You're meaty, bloody. My Cinnabon. Now back to the Mikey Show. Rock 105.3. Delightful. Welcome back. It's 7-0-4. President Bush awarded the Medal of Honor yesterday to the family of a Coronado-based Navy SEAL who threw himself on a grenade to save the lives of others. Catcher Michael Barrett for the Padres is going to miss two to eight weeks with a sprained elbow. Text number is 35253. Phone number 5701053. Text says, Mikey, good morning. Just wanted to say the new Starbucks coffee is the best. I have to agree with that.
That's all they're serving right now. If you go to Starbucks, the only coffee you're going to get, because sometimes they do the different kind. The only coffee you're going to get is a brand new one. And they are coming in tomorrow. They're coming in tomorrow. Starbucks bringing coffee, so. It's called Pike's Peak. Hey, Mikey, about that dark restaurant. You pay before you eat, and the food is cut before it's served. Oh, wow. Yeah, we were talking about this restaurant in New York where it's completely pitch dark. I said, no way. But yeah, I guess you pay because Rob was like, yeah, you can just get up and run out of that. It wouldn't work. They make you pay beforehand. Let's try Rob. Yeah, maybe that's what they do, too, is like you look at the menu before you even go in the dark. I don't know. I want somebody cutting my food. Like, you know, aren't you kind of particular about the kind of bites you take? Yeah.
Yeah. Take a big bite or a little bite is up to you. And some dude cuts it and he cuts it the way he likes it. And you stick some giant piece of or you stick a piece of steak in your mouth and it's all dainty. It's weird. Mikey, fire does not need to melt steel to cause a collapse. It just needs to bring it to its failing temperature without fireproofing. That's about eleven hundred degrees. Hey, Mikey, what's the name of the band that you just played going into the break? That's. Cutlass is the name of the band. Now, the Mickey Show presents the search for the truth behind the words, the logic behind the lyrics. It's time to play. This is what makes you a gangsta, lyrically. You listen to songs and you pay attention to the lyrics. Do you do that? If you do, you're a lyrical gangsta. And Eddie, what is the prize? We got tickets to see comedian Daniel Tosh, who's going to be at Spreckles on April 18th. Sweet. So.
Call us right now, 570-1053. And what we're going to do is we're going to ask you kind of a trivia question about lyrics. It's pretty easy. So give us a call right now. On the line, we got P1 Carrie. Carrie, are you there? Yeah. Carrie, how old are you? 24. Carrie, do you have your radio on? No, I don't. What am I hearing in the background? I have no idea. Oh, I know what you're hearing. There. Is that better? Yeah. There you go. Sorry about that. I thought she was lying about her age because she's like, I'm 24. You're 24, Carrie? Yeah. Okay. What do you do for a living? I'm a claims assistant for workers' comp. You're a claims assistant? Whoa. Is it an interesting line of work? Yeah, you do hear about a lot of weird stuff. Yeah, I bet you do. Sure. I bet you do. All right, let's get to playing. Here's how it works. I'm going to give you three categories. You pick the one that you want. You want 70s classics, 80s rock, or potpourri, which is, it could be anything. Ooh. Love it. I like that. I'm going to have to take potpourri. Oh, here you go. Your potpourri question is, popozao. Wow. Your potpourri question is.
In the song Every Morning by Sugar Ray, he says every morning there's a halo hanging from the corner of his girlfriend's what? Bed. I'm going to let you go. I'm going to go to Eddie, Sky, and Sean. I'm going to go to Eddie, Sky, and Sean to decide whether or not they're going to give this to her. Eddie. That's not the lyric. I mean, I would have wanted more clarification on the lyric. It's not the lyric, right? As of right now, she doesn't win. Sky. Like, if we were any sort of professional show, I would say there's no way that she would win this. We're not professional. But we are not professional in any sort of way. So this keeps in line with the theme of our show. So I think she should get a prize. That means it comes down to Sean. Sean, you will be the deciding factor. What do you say about her saying that the answer is bed? Well, I mean, it's not the lyric. Eddie is right. It's not the lyric. But I say we give it to her. All right, you got it. It's a four-post bed. There's posts on it. There is posts. But, Carrie, you win anyway. Hang on the line. Thank you. Fancy bed.
P1 Sayab. Is that how you say it? Sayab? Sayid? Sayab. Is it Sayid from the TV show Lost? Ladies and gentlemen, Sayid is on the phone. That's right. How'd you get off the boat? How do you pronounce the name? I'm going to throw you in the ocean. Can you pronounce your name for me? Is it Sayab? Sayab. It's an acronym for Sky is a Beating. Oh, I gotcha. It's an acronym for Sky is a Beating, Sayab. I like it. That is pretty good. You're so cute. Nothing against you, Skye. Nothing against you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, obviously everything against me, but okay. No, you're against yourself. Syab, how old are you? Hold on. 21. You're 21 years old. What do you do? I'm self-employed. Self-employed. So it means that you have no job. I'm a drug dealer. A drug dealer? Pretty much. All right. Congratulations. Well, Syab, what kind of drugs do you sell? None. Okay, good. Good answer. I'm glad to hear that. Syab, your categories are 80s rock, 70s classic, or potpourri, which could be anything. With potpourri. Oh, look at you. Risk taker. I know. Your potpourri question is, in the song Rio by Duran Duran, what does she dance on? The table.
That is incorrect. That is incorrect. A little mean. She dances. Oh, look at Sean is so upset at that. Yeah, he is. That is so easy too, Mike. Yeah, she dances on the sand. Sorry, Saab. Man, Sean, you got rhythm. P1 Mud is on the line. Good morning, Mikey. Good morning, Mud. Why do you go by P1 Mud? It's the first three letters of my last name. There you go. There it is. Mudley. Christine Mudley on the fellow Mudley. Mudheimer. Yes. My vein. All right, P1 Mud, what do you do for a living? I'm a plumber. You're a plumber? Come on. No, what do you do really? No, seriously, I'm a plumber. How old are you? 26. You're 26 years old. How did you get into plumbing? I'm in the military, so I kind of got put in as a plumber. You ever get that plumber's crack?
So what you're saying is, no, you do not get it. Eddie's looking very guilty at Sky right now. Like, I knew it was bad. I had to ask. Weren't we all thinking it? Not at all. Well, listen. P1 Mud, I'm going to give you three categories. The categories are Potpourri, 70s Classic, or 80s Rock. What about 70s Classic? You got it. Your 70s classic question is in the song You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by Bachman Turner Overdrive. He says, here's something you're never gonna what? You got it immediately. You're never gonna get. That is correct. Very well done. Hang on the line. I think she said forget. Did she say forget or get? She said forget. Good. P1MJ? Hello. This is actually Michael Jackson on the line. There it is. Hi, MJ. This is not Michael Jackson. I don't know. I think it is. You're changing your voice, but only mildly. You got me. You got me. MJ, how old are you? I'm little boys right now. How old are you? I'm 21. What do you do? I work in sales for a fence company. Oh, wow. We've got some very different jobs here today. You enjoy it? I'm sorry? Do you enjoy it? Oh, yeah. I love it. Sweet.
You're a baby there. My whole family's in the business, so it's kind of inevitable. You got a Bubba? You got your Bubbas? What? Do you have babies in the background? What are we hearing in the background? Yeah. Did you say, do I have a baby? Do you have a Biber? Yes, I do. I knew it. I should do have a Biber. My child is 13 months. Oh, there you go. She's a baby. Happy anniversary. My Bubbas! My Bubbas! Stop it. Your categories are 80s rock potpourri and 70s classic. 80s rock, please. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Your question is, in the song You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi. Yes. Talk about it. He says, I play my part and you play your what? I play my part and you play your game. You got it. You're a genius. Very well done. Very well done. Love you. Hang on the line. Sky, say it again, please. Coming up next, George Takai sang on the road again last night on television. No, he didn't. Oh, yeah, he did. Oh, yeah, he did.
He's on a new show called Secret Talents of the Stars. That's right. And I sang on the show. On the road again? Yes, would you like to know what I was wearing? No. No, no. Since you asked. I was wearing an acoustic guitar. That's it? That's all. This is the Mikey Show. Wow. If he says one more cool thing, he's in. This is The Rock. Let's say you like working with people. Well, you could be a doctor. Book the ER for tomorrow. We'll get this taken care of. Yes, doctor, right away. But you can also be a paramedic. His pressure's coming down. He's stabilizing. A pharmacy technician? This should minimize the risk of a secondary infection. A lab assistant? She's in good shape. The tests are negative. Or a nurse? Let me know if you're feeling any pain. Maybe no one ever told you, but there are lots of ways to make a living doing what you love. Want to find out how? It's easy. Just check out whodoyowanttobe.com. Sponsored by the state of California.

Put a cold bottle of Coors Light on the bar, and what happens? Rings. Here's where it gets wild. The most popular dart game is cricket. Remember what we heard when we took Coors Light camping a couple summers ago? Exactly. Crickets. Speaking of cricket, part of Coors Light's frost brewing process happens at an exact temperature of 34. Hit a critical double 17 before your opponent closes them out and you score exactly 34. We got the rain a little bit late here, I guess, because we might wait for it overnight. But, yeah, we're dealing with it this morning. Give yourself some extra time. It's going to slow things down. Right now, you've got 805 northbound. Pretty tough. There was an earlier accident near Adams Avenue.
that is now out of the way, but it's still slow through North Park because of that. Actually, before that, heading north, you're going to find some heavy traffic out of the South Bay from the 54 through National City. West 94 on the King Freeway, that's a bit slow now from the 15 into downtown. The West 8 ride hasn't been too bad, but now it's starting to back up a little bit from Spring Street down towards Lake Murray as you head to La Mesa. South by the 15, it's been a slow ride from the get-go this morning off the 78 through Rancho Bernardo and Carmo Mountain Ranch, dealing with wet stuff up here as well. The coastal rides south on 7.5, heavier now out of Encinitas for a slow ride into Solana Beach. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Casting from the Cricket Wireless Studios. The San Diego. Tennessee repeats as the women's national champions beating Stanford 64 to 48 last night. So my wife said to me yesterday.
I would like to ask you something and see if you can keep an open mind about it. Now, as soon as your wife says that to you, you know what's coming. Something bad. Something really bad. And she said, well, you know how Sky and I like a lot of the same stuff? And I said, uh-huh. And she said, you know how you guys were talking about how new kids on the block were going to do a tour? NKOTB, dude. Talk about it. Easy. I'm just saying. You get too excited. Well, I'm just saying we should talk about it since Mike brought it up and all. All I said when she said that was, I love you very much. The answer is no. Smart. So, I mean, she can do whatever she wants to do. Absolutely whatever she wants to do. We'll talk, Rebecca. Yeah, I think that's great. You know what? Girls, night out. That's huge. We will discuss. Sky was a big NKOTB fan. Dude. That is true. Yeah. What's the deal? You used to kiss the poster? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Sky had what they called the right stuff. Yeah.
Yeah, I had posters in my room, and Joey was my guy, and so me and, well, it was a couple of different girlfriends, but it was mainly me and my girlfriend Jen would always rush up the stairs, and whoever kissed him first was his girlfriend for the day. Are we about to make out right now? No. What did that actually mean? Like, would you talk about him then from that point on and be like, so my boyfriend? Yes, yes, basically there would be discussion. Would you sign your name with his last name instead of yours? Well, I mean, in private, yes. Would you ever get jealous when she would win? I'd be peeved, yeah. I don't know if jealousy is the right word. She would talk about it like, hey, that's my boyfriend. Yeah, I'd be like, until tomorrow. Oh, dude. And I had this on cassette, and I'd listen to my little Walkman and just flip that tape over and over and over. Flip the tape. On the Walkman. Yep. That's where it was. Well, they're like in their late 30s now, and all these dudes are getting back together in New Kids on the Block, and they're going to tour, and I'm like, you've got to be kidding me. They're not new, and they're not kids anymore. No, it's like the old dudes on the block. Yeah. I agree. I met Jordan Knight a couple years ago. You did? I had him sing for me. What did you have him sing? It sounded horrible. No offense. What did you have him sing? I just told him to give me a couple lines of You've Got the Right Stuff, this song that we're playing right now.
And he was like, I love the way you turn me on. I mean, he did it acapella. He did it acapella, but it was new. It wasn't as good. Well, I'm just saying, Ashley, it's a group. You need the whole group there, like one by himself. It's not going to sound right. You know what I'm saying? Do you think that they will do their concerts on a stool? Like the whole, you know, it'll be like six stools. They'll sit on the stool and then they'll have. Oh, certain songs they will. Like they used to do that back in the day, the slow jams. That would be awesome. Can you imagine, Sky? What did you wear? Give me, describe. No. Please. Come on. Oh, come on. What did the outfit look like when you would go to New Kids? No. Were you chola'd out or were you hip, you know, early 80s hip hopped out or what were you?
I have a picture of myself. You do? Of myself. Oh, Skype. Website. Website. Please, please, website. Please, website. No, I mean, like, I don't know if I have it or my mom has it. You know where it is. But it's one, like, you know how, like, a certain picture just stands out in your mind, you know, and this is the outfit and this is around the time and... Rob, let me ask you a question. Yeah. P1 Nicole on the line, how... On a scale of 1 to 10, how real do you think she is and that that's for real? Yeah, yeah. Pretty legit, dude. Like, I was asking her some questions that she would have to know the answers to, and she did, so. Sky's childhood friend Nicole is on the line. Shut up. Nicole? Hey. Nick, what are you doing? Hi, Sky. How are you? Good. What are you doing right now, lady? Well, um. I'm listening, and I can't help but tell, you know, everybody knows you're a huge New Kids on the Block fan. Well, I was a huge NKO TV. Well, actually, we both were, Nick, if, you know, if we're going to be honest here. But what people don't know is how... Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hang on. Stop.
Hang on. Oh, my gosh. This is a friend of yours from when you were a kid. Yeah, this is my friend Nick. We grew up together. We were really tight, especially around, like, the end of middle school, the early, like, high school days. Yeah. And we went to an NKOTB show together. How's your mom doing? She's great. Thank you for asking. Do you live here, or what's the deal? Well, we both lived, obviously, in the Bay. We both grew up in the Bay. Right. And then I moved down here with the show about four years ago. We kind of, like, lost touch, you know. And then she moved down here, what was, like, two and a half, three years ago, Nick? Mm-hmm. And then she was driving down the road listening to the show, and she heard my laugh, Mrs. Skye, and she goes, that's, you know, that's her. That's my girl. She shot me an email. You know, we had lunch and we keep in contact every, you know, once in a while. That's nuts. So you, she was a running buddy with NKOTB. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did you ever make it to the poster before Sky and kissed Jordan before Sky? Jordan? Sorry, not Jordan. It was Joey. It was Joey. It was Joey. Stop it. It was Joey. You all know this. It was Donald. That's what he is now. Esquire. Joseph.
All of you. Nicole, can you give us some insider information on Sky's NKOTB love? Obsession, really. Obsession, yes. Sky, I'm sorry. Don't you do it. Please do it. I know exactly what she's going to say. Do it, do it, do it. Not cool, Nick. Not cool. Let me get the right song on. Let me get something good and let me get some Please Don't Go Girl. Nick, go ahead. Well, one night, okay, we found out that the new kids on the block were going to be in town. You know, they were performing, and we found out where they were supposed to be staying. So, Nicole, I mean, I, I, I'm sorry, Sky snuck out of her parents' house. Okay, and I... I am in love with this story right now. I am. I know. I don't care. Skye, please, let me just say. How dare you? Skye is the color of a candy apple right now. This is not cool. Skye is the color of a candy apple right now. We were all young ones, okay? Oh, my God. Please. Skye snuck out of the house. Uh-huh. And my parents totally didn't know. And there was this big plot that we had created, you know, where we were going to meet up and we were going to go to the hotel where the new kids on the block were sent.
Shut up. And do what? Well, we were determined to meet them. She was like, yes, I am going to meet Joey. Skye. How have we never heard this story? How have we never heard this story? Skye, how old were you? How old were you, Skye? Gosh, I want to say it was seventh grade. Whoa, young'un. So what happened? Yeah. So what? Oh, that was riding around at the time of a big event in Sky's life. Shut up. That's not true. That's right. Maybe that's not true. It was Joey. That is not true. It was Joey. That was quite a few years later. Please. It was crazy. It was like this big, like, James Bond meets Deliverage, Shirley kind of. Nice. I don't know. That's what it was at the time. And we snuck up to the floor because it was guarded and nobody could get up there. And we slept outside. so that we could try to catch a glimpse of that. Sky, are you nuts not telling us this? What? Do your parents know you did this? What? Well, sorry, Mom. Oh, my gosh. I'm sorry, what? I want French bread, and I want to sop more of this story up. I want to sop it up. I want to sop it up. Go ahead. Go ahead, Ashley.
No, I'm saying you ask questions. You know what I remember about that night, Nick, was that, like, we were so tired. Drunk. No. We were so tired because, you know, I don't think up until that point I'd ever, like, really stayed awake, you know, through the night before. Did you go through the bedroom, like, sneak out the window, or did you go out the front door? I went out the front door. My room was on the second story. So I was tiptoe, tiptoe, tiptoe, real quiet. But I just remember the whole time being so tired and we were sitting there and I kind of doze off. But I didn't want to doze off because I thought at that second they were going to walk by and Joey was going to see me like drooling. Were you in the lobby or where were you? Where weren't we? And were you guys thinking like if you met them, they may fall in love with you? Well done, Mike. Absolutely. You should have seen us. We were done up. Please describe it. Please describe you little hoochies at 13 years old. Describe. Well, okay. Here's my outfit. See, this was my dress to impress outfit at the time.
A very short pair of jean shorts. Whoa. Okay. Are P1s going to react to this? 5701053. Are P1s going to react to this? This is no big deal. No big deal? Are you kidding me? You stalked the new kids. Hello? We did. Well, we believe we saw the girls from Envo. We believe we saw the girls from Envo walking through the lobby. We believe it was them. You were ridiculous. How did you get away with them? I still think it was them. I definitely think it was them, too. They were done up. They were hot. So this was my go-to outfit at the time. These short jean shorts with, like, a black tank top tucked into them, a black belt. Oh, my. So sexy. Accompanied with a vest, a tie, and the Joey hat. Get out of here. Oh, and don't forget my braces and my taco bangs. So basically she was a server at Dick's Last Resort. I was looking good. I was looking good. How did he not fall for you? Nicole. Yes. I can't believe you. Who was the more aggressive with the fellas? You or Sky? Oh, Sky. Oh, that is so not true. That is so not true. That is so not true. That is so not true. That is not true. Wow.
No, she was. Don't let her fool you. No, I would say... Daddy says she's an aggressive kisser. If we're being honest, Nick, I don't believe either of us were. We were just little girls. But you were the one who got all the attention because you filled out before I did. I was a little bit of a late bloomer, if you will. Sky was wearing bloomers. Sky was wearing bloomers, she said. I know you like them. I love them. Let's see. P1. Anna is on the line. Are you there, Anna? I'm here. I'm here. What did you want to say? I can totally relate to what Sky is saying. I loved MKO TV, and I still love them. I thought I was going to marry Jordan Knight. I thought he was going to fall in love with me. We went to so many concerts, and we're completely obsessed. Must have been like really devastating when you found out all of them were gay. No one is gay. Stop it. No one is gay. They call it the day of the world turned gay is what they actually call it. And it's really painful. There is a gal in line that says she's a black girl. She grew up in the projects and she wants to get on the air. Her name is Lawanda. Lawanda, are you there? Yes, I'm here. And what did you want to say?
I think you guys are so wrong for picking on Sky, because I also was a New Kids on the Block fan, and I grew up in the projects of Brooklyn. Thank you. What's the point? There's no worse than that of being one of the only people that even knew who New Kids on the Block was. Hey, listen. You go, girl. Hey, it sounds like you were hanging tough there in those projects. What? Sounds like you were hanging stuff all right. Didn't most of the new kids grow up in the projects? Yeah. Weren't they real tough? Well, they're from Boston. And they were all black too, right? No. They were all from the projects. Listen to the music. Yeah, I mean, obviously you can hear that, LaWanda. They were all from the projects as well, so. That's a tough one. That's right. My mom is so going to have a talk with me. Thank you, LaWanda. A bunch of Dorchester boys. Yes. I wouldn't be proud of that, bro. Dorchester. Yeah, that's right. Boston Rob wants to claim the new kids on the block as his own. P1 Lordy forever. Are you there? Yep. What did you want to say? I just want to tell Sky and her friend Nicole that they're my absolute heroes. Wow.
It was kind of dangerous. I'm not going to lie. You could build like a little body in your bed so that nobody would notice you. Yeah. It was all my stuffed animals. Oh, gosh. It was like Alcatraz. It was like papier-mâché. No, it was my stuffed animals. And a mop for the hair. Yeah, a mop for the hair. No, I'm going to get a lecture from my mom today. Like, seriously. You deserve it. On the ride, a little bit tougher here out of the South Bay, and you've got some slow traffic here pretty much everywhere. You've got some rain to deal with as well as some wet conditions, and that's causing some problems, so be careful out there. Right now, both the 5 and 805 northbound are getting rough out of Chula Vista up to National City. The 5 freeway has an accident clearing involving a motorcycle past the 54. That slowdown continues off and on to the 94. Then again, now out of downtown, more traffic in the Mission Bay. There's another accident here just before Claremont Drive that's causing a slowdown there.
805 northbound, staying heavy, pretty much into North Park off and on. Then again out of Kearney Mesa as you head above the 52. Your West 8 rides staying tough as well. Coming off the 125 here, Jackson Drive out towards College. And South 15, slow and go off to 78 off and on. Over Lake Hodges through Rancho Bernardo. Then again to Carmel Mountain Ranch. Down McLaurin on Rock 105.3. Here's a Mikey moment. I floss and I brush, but I don't go very often because I don't like dentists. Yeah, it's supposed to be every six months. You're not playing your headphone cord. You're not playing air bagpipes. Eddie just said he hasn't been to a dentist in over seven years. Good. Sean just took his headphone call. Sean's leaving. Sean, you're never going to be in my mouth. Don't worry. Okay. Wild bat.
Now back to the Mikey Show. Rock 105.3. Let me talk to you. Let me talk to you. Let me talk to you. Welcome back. It's a Mikey Show. It's 741. American Airlines is expected to cancel more flights today due to the wiring in about 300 of their planes. Former La Costa Canyon star, now Arizona's Chase Budinger is expected to enter the NBA draft. There it is. I was supposed to. Yeah, I blew out my ATL, so it never happened. I blew out my Atlanta. What position did you play? Forward guard. Forward guard. I was a forward guard. I got a text here from P1 Kane. And if I hadn't had asthma, I'd probably be doing it right now. But you don't have asthma. Anymore. You have chronically dry eyes. I have chronically dry eyes. But no asthma.
Kept him from a great NBA career. Oh, really? Oh, man. If only my eyes were wetter. I could have got everywhere. I heard that happen to Kobe, and then he had some sort of surgery. Oh, wow. It's called the wet surgery. It really helps. P1 Kane just sent us a text that said, Hey, Mikey, just wanted to say thank you for making me smile every morning. You're welcome, Kane. And I don't know if that's Laura Kane, but anyway, it said P1 Kane. She's a big fan. And this one says, Mikey, there is a restaurant in the gas lamp where you dine in the dark already here in San Diego. It's called Opaque. No way. Whoa. No way. No way and no way. I think we have to go. Dude. Come on. No way. Take a recorder in there. Send Rob at Halloween. Well, dude, I mean, listen, this place is a place where we're talking about this thing in New York where you go in this restaurant in the dark. I went to their website, yeah. Send me the link. They have a location in San Diego, NLA. Send me the link. Even the darkness of their website creeps me out. Oh, creepy. Where are you? There you are. Yeah, the idea is that you go there, you order, you pay, and then you go, and in the dark, they serve you food.
And it's supposed to heighten your sense of, you know, taste and all that stuff. All I picture is one of those creepy Japanese horror movies where they show a night vision and there's like spirits flying around you. And they're like, muah, like ready to do it. A head right behind you. Yes. Forget it. Okay, I'm clicking on the dark dining one. Yeah, they say opaque dining in the dark takes place at the basement of the U.S. Grant every Saturday night. That place is already haunted. Whoa. Why would anybody want to do that? I don't want to do it anymore. It's designed by the U.S. Grant. Sounds kind of fun. Oh, it does not. Anything with the word basement is not fun. Yeah, exactly. You don't know that. I don't know about that. I disagree with that. What's up, Sean? Exactly. Oh, my God. No way. All right. So you want to hear this George Takai stuff? Oh, yeah. So he was on this TV show, Secret Talents of the Stars. And I guess they just take a bunch of Z-list celebrities that have talents that nobody knows about. And George Takai, formerly of Star Trek, member of the Mikey show, was on there singing On the Road Again. Cut 25. And now.
grunting his own all-star country band, singing the classic On the Road Again, would you please welcome George Takei. Takei. Okay. What am I being out there over there? On the road again. Get on the road again. My love is making music with my feet. Thank you. Thank you. So here's what happened. Cut 31. They have judges? They have judges. Three of you remain. Only one of you is going to move on. George, would you please step forward? Yes. Is this far enough? George, America has voted. Thank you. And I'm sorry you are not moving. Thank you very much.
So I'm eliminated? I guess so, George. Oh, George. Sorry, buddy. You should have picked one of your other secret talents. Right? Probably would have got you right through. You would have done the roller skating to Kai. Well, shall I put my sundress back on again? No, we don't want to see you in a dress. Put my sundress again. No. I just can't wait to get my sundress on again. Wow. Do your ping pong trick. I don't know. You know what I'm talking about. Oh, yes. I play ping pong in the dark. No. Yes, I do. Yes, I do. I play ping pong in the dark while wearing suspenders. Yeah, they thought he sucked and he went home. So all you've been seeing on the news is the cheerleaders beating up the cheerleader. It's crazy, man. All over YouTube. It's all over the news. 16-year-old girls, how many, Skye, were, like, beating up on this one chick? It's like six of them. Six of them in Florida. I guess one of the original girl was accused of talking trash on her MySpace page. So these six other girls lured her to the house so they could beat her up, film it, and put it on their MySpace page as, like, a retaliation for talking trash. Wow. Now here is what is creepy. Yeah. The mother.
of one of the cheerleaders accused of attacking the girl went on the Today Show yesterday and halfway defended her. Cut 47. What about the actual beating on tape? Do you think this has been overblown? I didn't say that. Mercedes, my daughter, warned this girl before she came into the house. The two girls that you have been running your mouth about over my space and threatening are in the house. Please do not go in the house. She told her, and there's an eyewitness right next door. That's why they did it. Because that's mom. That's why they did it. Because that's mom. That's who raised her. Not only is mom making excuses, but mom's like, notice the way that she was talking trash. Notice the way that she's discussing. Instead of saying, yeah, this girl was, you know.
saying some bad things online i explained to my daughter hey listen you know you can't do you can't do something like you wanted to you know what i'm saying i don't know you can't say not nice things about other people it isn't respectful no she could see it herself she thinks that in her head in her head she's like well she deserved it right she was talking trash it was on the myspace that's right unpause her and there's an eyewitness uh right next door an adult that actually heard my daughter Tell this girl, please do not go in the house. So you're saying that as the police have characterized this, your daughter lured this young lady, the victim, to this house so that the beating could occur. You say that's absolutely not true. No, it's not. It's not true. And so how many times during this 30-minute beating, Ms. Garcia, did your daughter call the police to get this to stop? No, you are correct there. She did not tell the police. So what role did she play in that house once the beating occurred? Did she throw punches? Did she videotape part of this? Absolutely not. She did not hit the girl. There were two girls actually involved with the hitting of this girl, and it was one at a time.
So it was okay. Yeah, that makes it better. It's not like they did it all at once, Matt. I don't know what you heard. This was a cool beating. It wasn't like a gnarly. Fair fight. Yeah, it wasn't like a messed up beating. So anyway, that is making gigantoid news today, man. Oh, horrible. If you're just tuning in, P.O.D., the guys are coming into the studio, but they're not going to be performing because Sonny, their lead singer. He lost his voice. So they had to cancel the Tonight Show last night. They were supposed to be on the Tonight Show. Then they were coming to the Mikey Show to perform in our performance studio. They got a new record out. And they're obviously really bummed. But the guys are going to come down, which is really cool. And so if you had won tickets to come down here, you can still come down here. We're going to have breakfast for you and the whole deal. And you can still meet the guys, get some autographs, stuff like that. But they're not going to be able to perform. And it's one of those deals, man, where we're all kind of bummed out about it. We feel bad for Sonny, man. He lost his voice, and that's just kind of where we are. Nothing you can do about that. Nothing you can do. But if you won the tickets, come down, and we're still going to interview the guys. It's going to be pretty cool. Welcome back. It is 7.59. A Roman Catholic priest accused of stalking Conan O'Brien pled guilty yesterday to disorderly conduct. The San Diego Padres lost in the 11th inning on Benji Molina's home runoff with Clay Meredith, 3-2. So we're going to be going in and hanging out with P.O.D. here in just a second. It's kind of a bummer. Sonny lost his voice. Sonny is the lead singer, and he lost his voice, and so they had to cancel their Tonight Show appearance last night. and they're not going to be able to perform for us this morning. But the rest of the guys did come in, which I think is pretty good. Wov is here, Marcos is here, and Trey is here. And Sonny's voice, he lost it. So we're still going to be able to go into the performance studio, interview them, and you're going to be able to...
listen to it all on the radio. And the folks that won the opportunity to come in are still going to be able to hang out, have some breakfast and the whole deal. Their new single is called Addicted. And so I think what I'll do is, Zeth, I'm going to have you run the board. We're going to play the song Addicted while we go into the performance studio. So when the song is over, we'll be in there and people will be able to, you'll be joining us after this single is played from in our performance studio with the rest of the band. So let's play it. This is Addicted. Hey, what's going on? It's Rock 105.3. It's a Mikey show. Make some noise in here, P1s. We are hanging out with P.O.D., and they came in the studio, which, very gracious of you guys, they had to cancel their Tonight Show appearance last night, and Sonny, his voice is kind of messed up right now, and I was just talking to Wub, and he was saying, yeah, you guys are traveling a lot. You guys are doing a lot of traveling, and it's kind of wearing on the voice, right? Yeah, it's been like, I mean, we did like a two-week.
a little over two weeks, just all Hard Rocks, this charity tour we've been doing, it's been like every single night, so we've been flying every single day and performing every single day, and we just got back on the road, you know what I mean? Yeah. So there's been a lot, and then a lot of radio show appearances and stuff like that, so, I mean, I'm not a vocalist, but I mean, even when I do backups, it takes a toll on me, so I can understand how you're feeling for sure. Hey man, we were talking about this the other day, we were saying, if you were, if you could be anybody in a band, who would it be and why? And I go, I think I'd probably be love because I remember seeing you guys. I remember seeing you guys when we did the charger rally and I was standing on the side of the stage and I was watching you from the side of the stage. And I was like, that looks like the funnest job in the world, man. I mean, it just looked fun. I got no complaints, especially when, you know. You've been jamming with your boys for 16 years, and you look to the left and the right, and you look to the front, and you've still got the same homies in front of you. Yeah. 16 years later, I can't complain. Can I just say what's up to my kids before we start? Yeah, absolutely, man. I love it. Isabella, they're driving to school, and my son Noah and my son Naya. That's cool, man. My son's leaving the Astro Camp, so I wanted to say goodbye to him before he left. It's so cool. We've talked about this before, man, is that a lot of the guys in POD.
They listen to the Mikey Show and their P1s and they're driving their kids to school and stuff when they're living here in San Diego. And so they're listening to the show and it's just really cool, man. So it's awesome to have you guys in here. I want to talk about the new record. New record is called When Angels and Serpent Stance. And how did you guys come up with the name of the album? Who came up with it? What was the deal and the genesis behind it? I came up with it just chilling out and basically it's about. It's open to interpretation, but it's about the struggle that we all go through on a daily. And definitely got a lot of heart and soul on the CD about what we've been through individually and collectively as a band. That's awesome. Who doesn't dance with Evo every once in a while? That's the dance of life, man. Every day. The struggle. A lot of our homies do. Hey, man, talk to me a little bit about making the record. Where did you guys make the record at? Work on this record in our studio next to Tribal. Yeah. I don't know if I should tell that on there. Why, why, why? Because we have random people just kind of showing up at Tribal. Oh, I'm sure. Rob. Oh, it's Beauty. No, no, no. I meant, like, was it in Los Angeles or did you do it here in San Diego? We did a lot of writing here in San Diego. We actually went up to Los Angeles and did a few tracks with Jay. Yeah. You know, in the studio. Production-wise, it was done up there. Yeah, production-wise, it was done up there.
Yeah, the producer of the album is James Baumgardner. James Baumgardner. And has he produced your other records, or was somebody new that you were working with? This is the first time he actually worked with Jay, at least as a band. Yeah, he's done Papa Roach, Evanescence, Drowning Pool. Oh, wow. He's definitely got a lot more edge when it comes to rock. You can definitely hear that on this record. So what is that like? And he owns one of the biggest studios in L.A., so that makes it a lot easier. So when you guys do a record with a new producer, is it real different from guy to guy? Like, do they have different rules? Like a new girlfriend? Oh, exactly. It's definitely different. It's like, how does this girl kiss? What if she doesn't kiss good? This chick is whack. It was cool working with him. He had some different ways where you were, like, in question at times going, what the heck? What are you doing? But then the end product, man, was just like, oh, okay. I see. I'm a fool. Right. I don't know what I'm doing. So you had to hear the end result. Teach me. That's cool, man. We're really stoked. And you got to go get it if you don't have it yet. That's what I was going to ask, Mike. Can I ask? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go ahead. I was going to say, because I heard that this new CD is totally different from anything you guys have ever done. Did most of it have to do with the record company, or did you put your own?
Would you say it's more the spin that you put on it? It's us. It's 100% you? We didn't sit there with the label and say, this is what we need to try to do. We basically wrote songs that meant a lot to us. Right. And from this record to the last record, what would you guys see as the biggest change in terms of the sound? I think, man, for us, dude, it's like, I mean, we started the band with Marcos 16 years ago. And for the four years that we didn't have them, you know, when you replace an original member coming all from the same neighborhood, it's like you replace that flavor. You know what I mean? You can keep going on because you have the name and, you know, people's going to book you and you're going to play shows wherever you want, but you're going to miss some of that soul. Right. You know what I mean? And for us, Jason Truby did an awesome job and I love the records we did with him, but you can never replace like the OG sound and style. And I think he came with that. And then also just growing from. Kids to men, you know what I'm saying? Like the sound is different and making music is different and the vibe is different. So there was a lot of different changes, I think. Trey, what do you think? You know, he said it best, man. I mean, really, there's just a chemistry that happens when the four of us get together. The ride is improving in some areas, but we're dealing with rain and light drizzle here this morning, making the roadways slick, and, you know, that's just causing some problems, so be careful out there. Right now we have a new accident being reported, North 15.
Just past Friars Road as you come off the 8th freeway into Murphy Canyon, so use some caution there. That 8 itself got kind of busy here, but now it's breaking up. It's still a bit slow from Spring Street down toward Lake Murray. Bunching up again toward the 15, then a few more brake lights in past the Q. The West 94 King Freeway, that's looking much better. Just a delay now from 28th Street into downtown. 5805 northbound out of the South Bay are improving, except, well, actually the 805 is still rather tough from the South Bay freeway up to National City. It bunches up again to North Park, and then it crawls, though, out of Kearney Mesa from the 163 for a slow ride up towards Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. South 15, much better out of Escondido, but still heavy through Rancho Bernardo, Carmo Mountain Ranch. Now slowing here past the Miramar area down to the 163. And the coaster ride, southbound 5, still heavy out of Encinitas and Solana Beach. I'm McLaurence on Rock 105.3. Casting from the Cricket Wireless Studios. Another Sierra. Go see San Diego. The Mikey Show continues. Featuring Mikey. I have this uncanny ability to reveal things about myself. Eddie. I have Star Wars cereal boxes on my refrigerator. Very easy. Sky. I love the troops. I love America. I just don't agree with what we're doing over there. Sean. I realized over the weekend that I absolutely love the store bed balance. Oh, dude. Boston Rob. This is the time of year where I become OCD and have a lot of complexes because of...
My baseball team that plays. And Ashley. I hate to be told what to do. The Mikey Show's on. I hate you guys. Rock 105.3. Welcome back to the performance studio, ladies and gentlemen. We are hanging out in the performance studio here at Rock 105.3, and we got the guys from COD. Sonny is down, and he's down for the count right now because his voice blew out, and we're hoping that he gets better really soon. These guys have a quick little break where they get to try to get some sleep and sleep in a little bit the rest of the week and be here in their own beds for a little while. And then you guys are hitting the road and going doing radio tour across the country, right? Yes, yes. So you guys are getting prepared for that. Talk to me a little bit about the new single. It's called Addicted, right? Exactly. Did you guys do a video? We did do a video that I think is probably one of P.O.D.'s best videos. Wow. Yeah, it was cool because we love working with, I mean, we love to choose directors that are hungry, you know what I'm saying, and they got something to prove. Yeah. And this guy Maxis is one of those guys. The last, you know, our last big video with Alive and stuff like that was Francis Lawrence, and he actually moved on to do.
I am Legend and Constantine, you know what I mean? Holy cow! These are people that, like, you know what I mean? Like, we search through, and we get, like, a list of people, and we find, like, their stories, and we're like, you know what? This guy gets it. Well, fellas, I know you guys already know this, but I was in Renegade. No. Right? I apologize. Next time you had to do a video, give me a... He was an extra. He was an extra. He was an extra. Like, in the back. In the back. I can play anything. He was in the background on the episode of Renegade. I'll call up the guy that was running down the street. Exactly. I'll call up me and Lo, Lorenzo Lamas. We'll... Nobody calls you a blow, Lorenzo Lama. What about A-Team? I could do that, too. Whatever. I'm in on the whole thing. So when you guys do the process of making a video, how long does it take to make a video? Yeah, it varies, man. I mean, normally for the band, the most we've done is maybe two days. But they've actually been shooting for days afterwards. How many times do you hear the song?
Oh, dude. By the time the record's out, dude, we're done with the song. I feel sorry for him because a lot of times he's playing on, like, drum sets that are, like, muffled. Right. Oh, dude. So his cymbals are doubled up, so he's coming, you know. What does that mean? What do you mean? Because you can't really, like, you know what I mean? Like, I can't have a live kid playing. It's, like, everything's, like, double stacked cymbals, double heads. So it's, like, it feels like you're hitting the concrete or, like, rubber. Why do they have to do it that way? Because you're beating on drums 24 hours a day and people get sick of it. They just play the song back so that you're actually in time with the record. Because it would just be too loud and obnoxious for everybody around you? Pretty much, man. And they wouldn't be able to hear the playback. Yeah, they wouldn't be able to hear the playback. We're playing to like a stereo, like a huge stereo. It's like the version of lip syncing. Exactly. And we're not just playing it like once. I mean, we're playing it like... 50 we have to do that we have to do that with sky's voice
So you guys get a headphone mix? You're like, I want everybody's voice, but Sky's in my headphones. We have to. We would be deaf. So now all of POD is attacking me as well. You just got to bring down a little bit of 1K. We actually say like 4 or 5K. So back to the new CD. I'm on Sky's team now. That's a bad move. So you guys are doing an in-store today. Where are you guys going to be at? We're going to be at the El Cajon Best Buy. This is crazy. We didn't even know this, but I guess the El Cajon Best Buy is the number one selling rock Best Buy in the country. No way. So they're like, El Cajon. El Cajones. El Cajones. So you guys are going to be, they said, we sell the most rock CDs, you got to come here. Yeah, but we were arguing, we're like, what about Chula Vista? But they're actually like rockin' espanol, number one. We're like, dude, what's up? You can play some Tejano music down there a little bit. So what time is it? What time are you guys going to be down there? I think it's 7 p.m. tonight. 7 p.m. tonight. Go down to the Best Buy there in El Cajon, get the new CD. The new CD is called...
When Angels and Serpents Dance. Is there a track on here that you guys, as a band, do each of you connect to a different song? Or was there a song on there that you're like, oh, dude, if I had to tell people to listen to one track, what was it like for you guys? For me personally, it would be Rise Against. Marco says Rise Against. Why that one? I just like what it's talking about. It's basically... Standing up for your rights, getting that sense of like that Bob Marley-esque kind of vibe. Love it. But P.O.D. style. Wav, what do you think? There's a ton, man. I mean, one of the songs I love to play is a song called California A that's got Mike Muir from Suicidal on it. Wow. And yeah, he blessed the track, and he's never really done anything like that for anybody else, you know what I mean? And so just having his style and having his original vibe on it. Takes it to the next level. How about you, Trey? What did you think? I would say Tell Me Why. It was actually a song I think we were going to play here. But I think it's really relevant to what's happening right now in the temperature of the United States with all the war and everything that's happening. We got a fever. We got a fever. That's right. Well, listen. The new CD is called When Angels and Serpents Dance and the...
single is called addicted have you guys um you know you were talking about working with the producers and stuff like that when you get into that situation where obviously when you guys get together and you're writing the music and you're jamming and you have a certain sound in your guys heads that a song should go then you take it to a producer and he's got like a different vision for it how do you meld the two and go okay we'll try it that way and not be like Hey, wait a second. That's not what this song really is. How do you guys do that? You hear it right on the nose, bro. It's like pulling teeth sometimes because, I mean, you figure we've been sitting in the studio for months. Yeah. You know, feeling the way we've been doing it. Right. But actually, a good producer is supposed to do that anyway. He's supposed to pull out. Right. You know, some things maybe you're not thinking about. Have you ever had a song where you take it to the producer and he's like, dude, it's perfect the way it is. Let's just record it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Wow. So it's been like that, too. A lot of that on this album, I think, really. A lot of our bigger songs, I think, like Youth of the Nation and Alive and stuff, were already pretty much exactly the way they were. They said, let's just record it. It's great. What can you do? How can you mess that up? I think something that we learned early on was basically try everything, and then if it doesn't work, then you don't do it.
You know, one of the things, too, that I was thinking about is, you know, there's seven people on the Mikey show. And we're all in our 30s now for the most part. The guy, you know, me and Eddie are in our 30s. And me and Eddie are best friends from way back, man. Me and this guy grew up together. And during the course of our time growing up, we would butt heads sometimes. And mainly it was because we were just young. And now we're both men. You know, I'm married. I got a kid. He's married now, too. And you just kind of grow up. You know, we were talking about it before you guys came in. We were talking about the movie Some Kind of Monster, and we watched it and how those guys had to eventually see a shrink. And there have been times where we've talked about seeing a shrink as a show. You know what I mean? Seriously, man. It has happened on the air. It has. It has. And so as a band, how do you guys face that stuff? And have you grown in that process of sort of when things come up and how you do it? We've definitely grown, bro. You've got to understand. It's like you guys. Luckily, when you guys are done doing your thing, you go home. There's been times we've been on the road for six months straight. Someone would die. Someone would die. You walk down the bus and you really don't even want to look at them in the face. The first two weeks on tour is all partying and having fun. About a month goes by, it's like, dude, get out of my face. You just stay in bed. You don't want to be here with you, dog. You're on a bus together, a plane together. You're everywhere together. You can't escape each other, man. It's like, dude, bro.
Has anything changed in terms of how you deal with it between when you guys were super young and starting and now? Yeah, absolutely, man. We're doing it. I mean, that's what the CD is about. I mean, growing up from freaking being in high school and just doing it, you know, 24-7. And then all of a sudden getting a job, you know, making it a job. And then, like, how do you find that hunger? You know what I mean? A lot of fans ask us, dude, how do you guys stay together? And, you know, how do you guys keep writing songs that, like, are positive? And we're like, you know. When we come out, it's not about being in a rock and roll band anymore. Because I could tell you from all four of us, we're pretty much over that. You know what I mean? I think it's more about when we go out and the kids tell us, dude, and they get down and dirty with us and they say, man, this song was like this. And you're like, in your mind, you're like, dude, I never thought our songs would be like that. And it just puts enough tank, I mean, gas in your tank, you know what I'm saying, to keep on going. And that's something that we've been dealing with on this record. Because everybody's like, you know, we're up in our 30s. We're like, everybody's setting their ways. Everybody's their own man and doing their own things. But at the same time, you know, we keep getting told over and over how relevant our band is for the kids and the youth. And the kids still keep getting younger and younger instead of fans that have been young and then grown to their maturity with their own kids. You know what I mean? It's still young. So it's like we just ask ourselves, dude, are we ready to give up? Yeah. Nah, it's all good. And don't get it twisted. We've knuckled up before. Oh, yeah. But, I mean, I think that's how you.
Develop a friendship. Absolutely. Which I want to say about that Metallica movie. Yeah. I know Dave Mustaine. He was like, dude, I was misrepresented there. Really? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think I heard that too. He was like, dude, they just clipped out like one piece and put it in there and made me cry. I was like, oh, man. Well, I got to say, man, there is so much. I love when we get to hang out with you guys because there's so much light. in you guys and uh and you guys know my story too man i mean i i came from a whole different background at nighttime man i seen yesterday i was driving in pb and i seen your billboard said broken yeah and i was like you know what i know what that means to be broken you know what i'm saying like i i knew what that billboard meant it was like are you broken are you freaking prideful and you're like You know what I'm saying? I'd rather be broken myself. All of the above, man. All of the above. I think that's a cool statement. I remember seeing you at the Big Rock 105 show. Yeah. And you were sick as a dog. Really? And I had said some stuff on air. And you and Shauna were like, oh, my gosh. Really? I don't know if you remember. I don't know if it was when I was still drinking. Yeah. I think you were. I probably was. But see, that's the thing, man. I mean, for me and you guys, you guys have the same faith that I do.
Christ got inside of me and changed me into a completely different man. And I've just become a different guy and a different man from what I used to be. And it's cool when I get together with you guys because I feel that positive vibe, man. I just feel that positive vibe coming off you guys. And I feed off of it. And it's just cool, man. It's really cool. You're keeping it gangsta, man. That's what I'm talking about. Always. You know what's cool, too, man, is you had to go through that stuff to appreciate where you're at now. It's true, man. I really did. I really had to go through it. And, you know, my wife was telling me that one time. We were talking about that exact topic, and I was like, you know what, honey? I don't feel like I had to go through that stuff to be happy. Why couldn't I just be happy? And she goes, because you don't know that there's happiness unless you have badness. And it's true. It's true. Absolutely. You guys are great, man. And I want to encourage people to go out and see the signing tonight. They're going to be at the Best Buy in El Cajon. P.O.D. These guys are stand-up guys, man.
You know, when Sonny lost his voice, it could have been very easy for Marcos and Wov and Trey to say, hey, man, we're just not going to be able to do it. But they were like, no, man, they knew people were coming in here. They wanted to be able to come in and represent and say hi. And I appreciate that. Getting up early was tough. These guys were up in like three, four. I know, but I was like. You look good, though, Marco. We get up at the rock and roll hour, man, which is like about 12. Crack of noon. You guys got to do sound check. All right. Sorry, guys. We couldn't perform, but next time. That's awesome. We're right in the city. You know what, dude? We're pretty stoked because if you go to iTunes right now, that's like the number one retail for music right now. We're number one in rock. Walmart Records. Nice. We're number one in rock right now and number four on all of iTunes. Yes. That's huge. That's really cool. Congrats. And then locally, we're sold out in all the Targets. So that's it. There you go. It's not a bad thing. I'm sharing. I'm not bragging. That's awesome. Deserve it. Hey, everybody that came here today, give them a big round of applause. Say thank you to GLD for coming in here. San Diego's own. That's right. Let's do this.
I believe it is Roosevelt, Zethian Oates, Esquire Jr., the third that's running the controls. And Rosie, right there in the CD player to your left, if you can, put it on track number 12. It's a song that they would have been doing. It's Tell Me Why. It's our anti-war song. It's our anti-war song. Peace and love. Peace and love. So can you find that, Zeth? Is that it? Yeah. Is that it? All right. One more round of applause for these guys. Thank you so much, P.O.D., for coming in. And we'll be back in a minute. It's Rock 105.3. Another gripping real-life story from the Mossy Toyota Makes It Happen Files. It was a Thursday afternoon, and Jane Doe was on a mission. A mission?
Well, I had been to three other Toyota dealers that week. It was a mission to get a great deal on a new Prius hybrid, and nothing would stop her. I did have offers from those other dealers, but... But then Jane went to Mossy Toyota's new state-of-the-art facility in Pacific Beach, filled with high-def video screens, free Internet access, free coffee bar, and so on. And Mossy Toyota made it happen. What a deal. Want to save money on gas? Mossy Toyota can make it happen with a new 08 Prius Hybrid with backup camera for only $21,995. Only $21,995. Prius gets 48 miles per gallon city and 45 highway. Don't wait. Come to Mossy Toyota on Mission Bay Drive in Pacific Beach today. We're offering Sunday. Guy, you're already looking fancy today, but the only thing that can make you fancier is a nice pair of sunglasses, which I know you have in your car. Yes, yes, I do. Go get them. Well, they are... Well, I'm inside right now. Doesn't matter. But I know it makes you look very rock star when you wear them inside. Exactly. I noticed Marco's from POD. He had his on looking real sweet. Exactly. So here's the deal. If you want a good pair of sunglasses, I'm not talking about a cheapo pair you get at like 7-Eleven and, you know, the little mall kiosks. Kiosks. You know, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about a nice pair of sunglasses, one that you will have for a long time and that people will go, wow, is that Brad Pitt?
which they do for me all the time. Yeah, I'm sure. Then go to Sunglass and Optical Warehouse. Yeah, Sunglass and Optical Warehouse. Well, it's in the name. It's a warehouse. They have over 7,000 of the hottest new frames. Plus, they also do prescription sunglasses, and they also have a whole line of parts and accessories. Yeah, it's in the name, Optical. Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. Well, things are improving as this commute kind of winds down here this morning. Still dealing with wet conditions because of the rain and drizzle, so be careful out there. Right now, much improved speeds of the 805 and the 5 northbound. 805 is still punching up a little bit towards Division Street. It gets tougher still, though, into Kearney Mesa from the 163, and that's a slow crawl up to Governor Drive and the Golden Triangle. West 94, just a minor delay left over here into downtown. Your West 8 ride, a little bit slow right around Lake Murray, but from there, you're pretty much... Good to go all the way into Mission Valley. Big improvement on the South 15 as well coming out of Escondido. You will find some slow traffic still hanging on, though, through Carmel Mountain Ranch, Crips Ranch, down in towards Miramar. And the coaster ride on South on the side of the 5C is a little bit tight here from Birmingham Drive down to Solana Beach. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Is this Rebecca? Yes, it is. I understand that you went to sleep train. Yes, I did. What happened? Well, my husband and I went back last May. We just got married, so we bought our new mattress. We got a really good deal on it. They threw in free sheets and pillows because we said we heard about it through you. And they also gave us the free mattress protector, so it was really cool. And I referred my mom to go there because she is buying a bed for my grandmother just this last week. And she went to the Curti Mesa store, and they actually beat the price on a Costco mattress.
The sleep tank was selling it for, I think, around $1,000, and then the Costco price was like $500-something. So they beat that, which is awesome. They just won Best Mattress Store, and there's a reason for it. They're really good. The prices are great, and if you're getting one of these good name brand mattresses, or no matter what you're looking for, they're great. How is that mattress in terms of being comfortable? Awesome. I can't get out of bed in the morning. It's really comfortable. That is good stuff. Thank you. You got it. Sleep Train is your ticket to a better night's sleep. The Mikey Show continues with Mikey. I move objects. Sky. I am extremely frugal and pretty much only buy things. When they're on sale. Sean. I tend to think a lot about creating inventions for law enforcement. Boston Rob. I'm the only guy I know that's able to pull off, getting pulled over in the courthouse parking lot wall park. Oh. And get a ticket. And Ashley. I'm extremely prone to self-inflicting injury. The Mikey Show's on. It's worth every penny. Rock 105.3. Rob Pick right there. I like it. Eddie's playing the air bagpipes on his headphone cord.
But isn't it a harmonica that we're hearing right now? It is, but, well, Eddie's shaking his head no. That's the way you're interpreting it, but it's not actually what they used in the recording. I was in the studio. Welcome back. It is 840. The Olympic torch will make its only U.S. appearance today in San Francisco. UCLA's Kevin Love and Darren Collison are both going to enter the NBA draft. Are those guys real, real good, Eddie? Yeah, well, Kevin Love was the freshman of the year. He was real, real good. I was, too. You were the freshman of the year? I was at one point, yes. For what school? Gilroy High. So you were a high school freshman of the year? Yes, I was. For what, though? My position in football. But you never played. Remember, you were on the bench watching Jeff Garcia play. Yeah, wouldn't Jeff Garcia be? At the time, he was not seasoned and groomed yet. He hadn't become that. And so at the time, I was shining.
Really more than anybody on the team. You were a backup guard who never got in the game. What? Offensive guard. Offensive guard. There is no defensive guard. And so I couldn't play that. No, I know you didn't. I was making a distinction. I'm just trying to play the defense. Yeah, you can text message us at 35253. Truth is, I never played. What? Listen, I didn't even know. At that point, when I was a freshman in high school, I didn't know anything about football. I didn't have any friends that were into football. My friends were into dorky stuff. Like what? Dungeons and Dragons. I couldn't play it. I didn't know how. Every time I did play it, they'd be like, you're dead. I'd be like, what's the point of doing this? Get out of my house. So when I was a freshman, I didn't know anything. And like I when I went out on the field because the score was like 117 to two. Nice. Because we got a safety or something. That was your time to shine. That was my time to shine. Right. And I went out there and I honestly like I didn't even know like what my what the objective of me was. Really?
I didn't know. The coach never explained it. What about practice? Do you know how to practice? Yeah, man. But they were all like, I remember them being like, you already knew what was going on by that point. That's true. Most people have played like Pop Warner. Yeah. And there was no like, oh, I'm going to teach you something. All I'm going to teach you is technique. Right. And so, yeah, they showed me how to like throw my arm up 50 times, but they assumed that I knew I'm protecting Jeff Garcia. Well, I didn't get to, I wasn't a starter. Yeah, you know, so Jeff was already showered home at that point of the game. So then why did you go into football if you didn't really know much about it? A couple of reasons. One is I wanted to please my dad. I thought that my dad would think it was really cool that I was going out for football. But the other reason is that I remember thinking that football as a sport, professional football, was really cool. And I thought that the guys that played it were really cool. And I would take my room, the way that I decorated my room was I would take Sports Illustrated covers. And that's what was on the back of my door. You know, that was all these Sports Illustrated covers. So cool. It was really great. But I didn't know how the game was played yet. And then what happened was I started to develop an interest in how the game was played. And I had to find out on my own. And, you know, now I know quite a bit about it. And my pops.
He's a really cool dude. But my dad, he didn't have any role models. His pop left before he was of an age that he could remember. They lived in a barn. My dad and his family actually lived in a barn. There was no electricity. There was no plumbing. None of that stuff. And so he didn't have any role models. The truth is that I don't know that my dad knew the... complete ins and outs of the game anyway. I think he has a basic knowledge, but he didn't have in his head, oh, I got to take the boy aside and I got to do this and I got to do that. Me, I'm a reader and a researcher. I was watching TV one day and I saw that Bill Parcells had these DVDs that he was putting out to teach your kids how to play football. I don't know any of this. You do too, Bill. You sold me the CD, the DVD. I bought it from you, Bill. Anything else, folks, I'm leaving. Before you get mad, Mr. Parcells, I bought your Backyard Skills DVD. I don't know any of this. Whatever. He's lying. It's difficult. So I may know how the game works. I don't know how to teach a child how to play the game.
And that's what these DVDs were about, and they're really cool, and they did. They taught me a little bit about what I can teach Jake, and I will at some point want to do that. Let's bring him over to Uncle Eddie's. That's right. Uncle Eddie's. Throw some pads on him. Yep. We'll light each other up. It'll be awesome. Eddie, there is a lawsuit going on right now over Stormtroopers, just so you know. I don't understand what I mean. Well, it's a lawsuit between George Lucas. and a guy that I guess helped design the Stormtroopers, right, Skye? Yes. I thought you meant there was a lawsuit with the Stormtroopers against the Empire for difficult work conditions on the Death Star. That's why they formed the Union. They formed the Stormtrooper Union. They really needed to at some point because they were just being led into these battles and they would just get shot. And when they would shoot, they would always miss. They had no training. Well, the thing that I've heard is that workman's comp is still a big deal for stormtroopers. There's a lot of those guys that get hurt and they don't get the benefit. Whenever the stormtroopers get hit, they always die. They're never injured. Yeah. They die immediately. They're down.
It's one of the things the Union wanted to do is protect that, you know, get him a Kevlar plate. You'd think he'd wear that steel outfit that they got on or, you know, these big metal plates that they were wearing that would protect him a little bit. But no. Exactly. A lot of design flaws in that. It really was, John. Well, the Stormtroopers have Local 152 now, which has really helped them out quite a bit in terms of getting the equipment that they need and getting fitted for all that stuff. But what is the lawsuit, Sky? Oh, so back in reality, what is going down is that Lucas Films filed a lawsuit against the British prop designer, who is one of the original guys who designed the Stormtrooper helmet and uniform. He was actually designer 42 out of 3721. Wow. So this guy has been selling replicas of the helmet and the armor on his website. How did he think he could do that? Well, according to him, he designed it. Yeah, for Lucas. But it's loaned by Lucasfilm, I'm sure. I mean, come on. So Lucasfilms took it to court here in California, and the judge ruled that this guy has to pay Lucasfilms $20 million for all the, I guess, profits he made from selling this stuff on his website. You can't see me. My jaw was dropped open right now. $20 million. Because I was thinking to myself, for a second I was like,
Oh, Lucas really needs more money. Like, how much has he lost this guy? $12,000, you know, at the most, $30,000, what? How much? Well, they're claiming $20 million. They're seeking $20 million. That probably sells, like, full outfits for... Probably thousands of dollars. Yeah. So a California court agreed with Lucasfilms that this guy's got to pay it. Well, this is a British guy. And so now Lucasfilms has had to go to the London court to get them to enforce this ruling. Do they wear wigs and everything? It's funny when they do that. The guys wear wigs. So that's where we're at. Parliament. Well, here's your case now. That's where we're at right now in the London court. Well, so this guy, the original prop designer, is now countersuing in London court saying that no. He owns the rights to that stuff. And so Lucasfilms owes him an estimated $24 billion for the profits that they've made from selling the Stormtrooper stuff. But he'll settle for $1 billion. $24 billion. So we'll see what the court- Damn you, Bib Fortuna. What? What did Eddie just say? He wants some tuna. I don't know what he said. You're welcome, Sean. He wants to wear a bib while he eats his tuna.
Bib Fortuna. Bib Fortuna. What? The problem is that you're too clever about Star Wars. What? Sean knows what's up. Yes, I do. We are? Adam Carolla got kicked off Dancing with the Stars last night. No! There's the only thing good about that show. the inappropriate stuff about religion and sex. Crazy hysterical. Does he just go off and say crazy stuff? Yes. He says the worst stuff possible. I think it was when they did the tango or they did some sexy Latin dance and they were talking about how whores and pimps invented the dance and then he was like it was actually the Mormons and his dance partner is a Mormon. No, come on. It was brutal. Come on. Okay, here's his elimination. Cut 21. On this fourth week of competition, the couple with the lowest combined total and therefore leaving tonight. Adam and Juliet. No. Now here's his parting comments. Oh, this is going to be good. To everyone in America. Cut 22. I want to say at the time of my life, I lost 20 pounds of fat. I gained 105 pounds of angel. I love this girl.
I got to plug my movie The Hammer in theaters now. So I recommend this experience to everyone who's scared of everything. If something scares you, I'm going to get philosophical for one second. We all don't get the opportunity to do Dancing with the Stars, but you at home, there's something that scares you. There's something that is your Dancing with the Stars. Embrace it. Don't run from it. Do it. There you go. Mine would be dancing. Yeah. No way man. I don't want to have any part of dancing.
So if they came to you and asked you to be on Dancing with the Stars. No way. Even with the national exposure it would get for the show. I would say I got my producer's name is Eddie and he's very good and he's funny and I think you'll really enjoy him. Here's his email address. What if they said no, we really want the host of the show or nothing. I'm sorry. I would say our girl Sky just became the new host. Congratulations to me. Hell did freeze over? So I will be sending her over to you. Well, she talks enough to read. That, well, you know what, Sky? You know what I'm saying? Hey, when you got something to bring to the table, Sean. Sky's a good dancer. Sky dance is really good. Well, thank you. Eddie will not give her. No. Why not? He just, he never has. Well, because he knows it's like one of the few things that I actually kind of like care about. So he knows it'll really. Does it work? Does it work, Skye? Well, let me ask you this. Do you believe... I'm going to open a Diet Pepsi. Thank you. Do you believe that Eddie really doesn't think that you're an amazing dancer? Well, the word amazing is like... Okay, let me rephrase. Let me rephrase. Let me reframe this. Let me reframe this.
You know that I think that you are an incredible dancer. That is true. Thank you. Do you believe that Eddie feels the way that I do in reality but pretends he does not? No, I don't believe he feels as strongly about it as you do. Do you feel that he feels as strongly about it as he portrays? No, I do not. I don't either. Yeah. Eddie has quite a few wonderful dancers in his life. His wife is an amazing dancer. That is true. She's got it going on. So, you know, so I don't know what the right word is. Kind of, you know, he's loyalty. No, no, it has nothing to do with loyalty. It's just that, you know, she's so good. So when he looks at other people, it's like, oh, they're all right. You know, even though the people who are all right. And he's given the face. Ah, yes, that's it. Whatever makes you feel better. But no, Eddie thinks I'm a good dancer. Yes, he does. I believe that he does. Thank you, Eddie. Thank you. Speak for me.
No problem. When we come back, Eddie's true thoughts. This is the Mikey Show. Get downloads and podcasts at rock1053.com. Nicole. Yes. I can't believe you. Who was the more aggressive with the fellas? You or Sky? Oh, Sky. Oh, that is so not true. That is so not true. That is exactly what I thought. That is not true. Wow. She was. Don't let her fool you. No, I would say, I would say. That he says she's an aggressive kisser. She has said that. If we're being honest, Nick, I don't believe either of us were. We were just little girls. But you were the one, you were the one who. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. I made my therapist laugh to the point where she spit water out of her nose. That's a good time.
And she was taking a drink out of a water bottle. Her cell phone went off during the session. And I go, and she was going to like turn it off. And I go, did you change your ringer? And she goes, no. I go, are you sure? And I really thought she did. Because it's happened. I go, are you sure? And she goes, yeah. And I go, what is that? Like the love boat? And that for whatever reason, she made her laugh. It is 9-0-1. American Idol will do their second annual charity show, Idol Gives Back, starting tonight at 7.30. Padres catcher Michael Barrett will miss two to eight weeks with a sprained elbow. Hey, guys. Is this the one that I had from earlier right on the top, Zed? I believe so. Zed, Zed. Your name is Zed. Roosevelt Zethian Oates Jr. Yes, it is. The third. Do you want me to look? Esquire.
You don't trust his work, Eddie? I love the junior, the third part. Yeah, well, he's the third junior there is. There's been three juniors before him. That's how it works, guy. That's exactly how it goes down, man. Sounds better than the sixth. That's right. Hey, Mikey, long time P1, this is the first time I've written you. I went on a date last night and thought afterwards, I have to write the Mikey show and tell them. I had the most embarrassing thing happen. We were at dinner having a good time when all of a sudden I sneezed and a piece of food went flying out of my mouth and right onto my dates shirt. So gross. I was mortified. She said it was no big deal. I have to interrupt the email at this point. It is a big deal. If she said it was no big deal, I'm sorry. I have to disagree. It's a big deal. I'm sure she vomited afterwards. That's kind of a big deal. She said it was no big deal, but I was really humiliated. Well, yeah. You think? I am laughing right now writing this email. But I have to say it was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Thought you guys would enjoy that. Signed, P1 Roadblock. So what is that? Like embarrassing stuff that you've done on a date? Big time. I may have told this before. One time I was on a date. And I was very...
I was very self-conscious of myself at this time of my life, but I was about 22 years old, and I went on a date with this girl named Christy. This is when I lived in San Luis Obispo. And we went to a Chinese restaurant, and she bit into a piece of fried rice. And the fried rice, you know how sometimes in the kitchen, a piece of something will accidentally fall into other stuff? You know what I'm talking about? Well, if this had been somebody like Ashley or Skye, it would have been fine. Because these girls can eat hot, spicy food, Ashley and Skye. But this girl could not eat hot, spicy food. And somehow one of those little red peppers was in there. Those are crazy hot. They are crazy hot. And it was a mistake. It got in there on a steak. And she bit into it.
And it wasn't like you have to understand as I explain this story, like now it's so funny. When this happened, it was really weird. It was one of the strangest experiences because she started crying. And it was like really like real. Like she was we had to leave. It was like she tears are streaming down her face. She's crying. And you can tell she's both self-conscious and at the same time, truly in pain. And I don't know what to say. Is it like tears just coming down or is she actually like kind of vocal too? Vocal. Weeping? Weeping. Sobbing and crying. And putting like she, I remember she was taking a paper napkin. Yeah. And putting it on her tongue. Oh. Like wrapping her tongue, you know, because it hurt. Yeah. And so she's trying to do anything she can. Oh, no. And, you know, there in the people. Were you laughing? No, I was not laughing. And the people are like, we get you. So sorry. Yeah, so sorry. So sorry. We get you some miracle. Yeah. What? You put a miracle in your mouth. You put a miracle. What? Miracle to your mouth. I'm very sorry. I'm very sorry.
Solly. That you're the tank man. Poor thing. So we left. Wow. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Did you have to, like, comfort her? Well, I was trying to. I was trying to comfort her in the restaurant, but I just remember feeling so... odd and self-conscious of the situation and people are turning and looking and staring. How was the goodnight kiss? Oh, that didn't happen. I never saw her again. Never saw her again. Never saw her again. No, because I felt that it would be embarrassing to discuss. How do you recover from that? You don't recover from that. And I may have told this story at one time. My uncle took his... She became his wife, but on their first date, they went to a Mexican restaurant, and she bit into a chip, a tortilla chip, and it cut her gums, and it started bleeding. Oh, my gosh. Profusely. Oh, wow. Profusely, it started to bleed. Yeah. Your story just kind of reminded me of one because I don't know. This was really embarrassing, and it's still something that my family, my in-laws joke with me to this day about. Uh-oh. Was that a jacuzzi club?
Eddie. That's a legitimate question, Skye. It is legitimate. Please answer the question. Take your bows. I didn't know. I'm sorry. We know that that was a date hanging out. Oh, no. Skye, stop coming on you today, remember? Push the microphone away. Come on. There you go, Eddie. Eddie just did some sort of, like, Jedi move where he pretended to put the microphone back to her. Like, you will share. Oh, nice. You will share. Good job, Eddie. Thanks. You are not checked out. It had nothing to do with a jacuzzi club. Okay. We got it now. What is a jacuzzi club? Mike. Mike. Well, it's what Skye calls a bathhouse because she's embarrassed. No, I, no. Because she's what? There's no such thing. That was actually the most embarrassing thing she ever did. Well, I mean, are we kidding ourselves here? The most embarrassing thing was getting the locker key. Skye, no, don't do it. Wait. I'm done. Don't. No. Sorry for me. Eddie, Jedi her again. You will, Sheriff. Nope.
Unbelievable. Sky's story that she was going to tell had to do with her now husband. But I don't know more than that. Really? I think so. She said her mother-in-law. She's checked out, Eddie. Get her back. You're the Sky Whisperer. It's true. You're fine. We'll stop. I think it's working. I promise. You promise? Watch. You'll stop. No more jacuzzi club references. No, we got the joke out there. It's done. Go ahead. And no sunburn references either. I wasn't even thinking that. Whoa. And nothing with ham. I can't promise Rob to say something. But I won't. But he can't hear you. He's on the phones, guys. He's on the phones. You sure? Yeah. I really want to hear what you have to say. You promise? Yes. What bad is he doing? All right. I don't know. He's so funny. There she is. All right, see what happened. Good job, Eddie. Hey. Hey, Sky. So the boo and I had just started dating. Yeah. And I, you know, I already knew his mom because, you know, we had worked together in the past. Eddie, stop it. What is you doing? I don't know, but I can tell you by body language, he's fighting an urge to do something. And he's doing a good job. He's not doing anything.
You didn't need to even address it. Maybe I shouldn't have. Let's just go to the... No, no, no, Skye. You didn't do anything, though. You didn't say a word. This is going to be a good one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So what happened? So the boy and I start dating. And we've gone on a couple dates. And one night we were trying to figure out where to go for dinner. And his parents were like, oh, you know what? Let's all go out to dinner. We'll get a chance to know each other. Well, we go out to this Mexican joint. It's time for me to order, and I decide that I am going to order for dinner a side of rice. What? And that is the reaction that everyone at the table has. And they want to know why I am ordering a side of rice. Now, how do they ask you? They just go, why are you getting a side of rice? Why are you so weird? Basically, basically. And I'm just like, I am not hungry. No. Oh, wait a minute.
I thought that you ordered dinner with a side of rice. No, you just ordered a side of rice. I just ordered a side of rice. No ham? There it is. I told you. I told you. He didn't know. He didn't know, Skye. She's shutting the blinds. She just shut the blinds. Now we can't see Rob. So if you can't see me, then you can't hear me. That is the funniest thing I've ever just heard. I can't see it, but I regret it. Ham sedent that you shut down? Oh, no. You're a genius. Come on, Skye. With the ham, open it up. I don't like this. Skye, why don't we take some calls, and then maybe it'll make you feel more comfortable about telling the cider rice story. Thank you. P1 Dusters is on the line. Was it ham fried rice? All right. Dusters, are you there? I see you again, so you can probably hear me. Ah, she opened the blinds up. Hello, Dusters. Hey, Mike. How's it going? Good. Hey, so embarrassing story along the lines of sneezing. Sixth grade, still remember it. I had a huge crush on this girl for like two or three years. Finally had a chance to sit next to her, helping her in her math class. And out of nowhere, again, itching in my nose, the biggest sneeze I've ever had and the biggest...
burger I've ever had. Right on her math homework. I was so terrified and embarrassed. I couldn't think of anything to do with my fingers. I snapped it up and she just looks at me and starts laughing. We didn't know what to say. After that, we didn't all talk all that much. That is crazy. When you're a kid, a booger is the equivalent of a doo-doo. It's the worst. It's awful. It might as well be doo-doo. And I don't know how it even fit in my nose. It was huge and yellow. Okay, we got it. Yeah, I think we get the idea. I think we get the idea where you're going with that one. You want boogers? I wonder what she's doing today. I have no idea. Thinking of that story. Thinking of that story right now? I almost got into a car crash on a first date. I remember this. Oh, what? Were you going to a play? Yeah. First date, beautiful girl. I was really excited. I dressed up to the nines, picked her up. Broader flowers. Like, I was on the money. I was, like, feeling really good about myself first day. Were you rocking the Beretta? The Beretta. The Beretta was kicking. And I had to add that Zeppelin 4, side 2 on. Nice. And then I get onto the freeway off the 8, right on that merge on the 163. Yeah. And it's right at, you know, heavy traffic time.
And so I'm trying to merge over. Here's Eddie. Yeah, dude. It was rocking. It was good. And so I'm trying to get over to get on the 163. And it's next to impossible. And so I finally just make my move. And the guy behind me, I guess I almost hit, lays on his horn. We both swerve and, like, cause this huge almost accident. And I look over at the girl and she's like. half smiling at me. I couldn't recover after it. That story, dude, over the years, that short story between you and I has been shared probably a dozen times. It's humiliating. Every time I hear it, I still feel for you. It was bad. It was bad. It's not the worst for a guy. Yeah. Because, you know, you want to be cool and suave and, you know, if you get into a huge car crash, it's not the coolest thing in the world. No, that's what happened with my boyfriend on our second date. What happened? It was in the pouring rain, and he picked me up because I parked on the street, and he lives in an apartment complex where I can't park in there. So he drove to come grab me. It was pouring down rain, and this was the second time we were, like, ever hanging out or whatever. It was way early in the relationship. And he gets me in the car, and he's, like, talking to me and flips a quick U-turn and completely didn't, like, even look and ran over a stop sign. Like, what looks like a stop sign? Oh, man.
Like what looks like a stop sign, but it's a street sign. Ran straight over it. Now, next thing you know, we're in the middle barrier in between the two roads. The sign is stuck underneath the car. He goes forward. He goes backwards. He's stuck. On the sign? On the sign. Oh, my God. What are you doing? What is your reaction at this point? What are you doing? I'm like. Oh, my God. Like, what do I do? And he was, you know, because he was trying to be so sweet and be a good sport. But this car is his baby. And he ended up having to put two G's in to fix it. Holy cow. It was like our third date. That sucks. That is brutal. That is brutal. I had an unbelievable accident happen on a first date of mine. And now when you say accident, are we talking incontinence or do you mean... Did you make a mess in the Pan-Alpha? What happened? Sean, what happened? I want to hear Sean. I'm sorry, Sean. I know how they do. Yeah, exactly. When Ashley laughs like that, it's my favorite. Sorry, Sean. You took your date to what you thought was a furry convention, and it was actually a curry convention about all these great Indian spices, and you were the two only dressed up like pandas. Is that what happened, Sean?
Thank you. Thank you. Curry convention. Thank you. What was your accident, Sean? Please. I'm dying. Please. Please, Sean. We'll be cool. We'll be cool. Sky. No, you won't. Sky, why did you order rice? Side of rice. Side of rice. Why did you order a side of rice? That was all. Well. So my now mother-in-law at the time, you know, and I'm new dating the boo at this point. So, of course, I'm trying to, like, impress and be the girly girl. And I'm trying to just, you know, say I'm not hungry. But she's doing the, like, motherly thing of, no, you really need to eat something, blah, blah, blah. And so finally it gets to the point where they're, like, hounding me. So I just have to tell them that I am lactose intolerant. And I have had some issues lately. For the benefit of the rest of the evening, I would just prefer to eat my side of rice. And that's really sexy. I thought that lactose intolerant had to do with dairy products. Yeah, and you're at a Mexican restaurant and pretty much everything has dairy on it. And I knew if I wanted something without dairy, I would have to do all these special orders. And I didn't want to do that because I thought that was going to be embarrassing. You couldn't just order a taco without cheese? You couldn't just order a salad? No.
So instead of getting a taco without cheese and salad, you would get a side of rice? I thought I'd get a side of rice to keep you out of the radar. Yeah, I totally did. I did. I thought, like, oh, no one's going to criticize me for ordering. That was flying more under the radar than just a taco with no cheese. And so I then had to explain to them about my. But there weren't better explanations. What am I going to say? I've had a stomach ache all day. Yeah, I'm not feeling well. That's so easily avoided. Well, actually. You're serious, Mudo. You're going into the whole process. I got this thing out of my anus. And it is. I'm not sure if you know how it works. Thank you for asking. I have the runs. It was so embarrassing. I'm talking right now. I've got an issue with my bowel. Yes. It was so embarrassing. If I eat anything but that side of rice, it's going to be like spin art. All right? So to this day. Imagine a balloon filled with chocolate pudding. And then you pop it. That's me, people.
All right. Everybody happy now? Yeah. So Mr. and Mrs. Nosey feels satiated now. Now that you know the problems with my bum. My butt is now your business. Enjoy. Have some more. Anyone want another enchilada? There you go. So to this day, when we go out to dinner, they always go, oh, are you going to order a side of rice? How are you doing? Can you imagine? I should have been quicker on that. Can you imagine Mr. Sky as she's saying, well, actually, I've got something called the lactose intolerance. date topic. You see, my stomach doesn't digest dairy very well. And what ends up happening is my, well, it's hard to say, but my fecal matter. Okay. Everywhere. Sorry, guys. Anyway. P1 yoga is on the line. More beans. Like an old man vomiting yogurt. Wait. What? I've been on the phone, so I want to get in there.
This is P1 Yoga on the line. It doesn't even make any sense. Oh, it does? I'll draw a picture for you if you want. P1 Yoga. Go ahead, please. No. Yeah. I had a date when I was just coming out of high school. And we go out and we have a great time. And all things went real well. And we're coming back from our date. And I kind of live out in the cut. up north, and we're driving around the road. I've never heard that before. Cuts. What does that mean, the cuts? I don't know. That's kind of like out of nowhere, out of town, in the woods. It's a new Mikey Show phrase right there. It's a new Mikey Show phrase. Go ahead. This guy's calling from the cuts. You've never heard from the cuts? I have not, but I love it. I'm in. Go ahead. We're driving through, and all things are well, and she said, well, let's go back to your house. I'm like, oh, that's great. Let's do this. In the cuts. Yeah, in the cuts, and it's a little bit late. And we're leaning, we're talking to each other, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, in the cuts, a deer pops out of the road. And I swerved amidst the deer, and its baby deer is right next to it. Oh, no, no, you didn't. Yeah, just completely tagged it. I ruined the front end of the car. The girl couldn't stop crying.
The car didn't even turn back on. Can you imagine? Did you guys hook up? I had to call my mom to come pick me up and take it home. No kiss goodnight. That's a nightmare. No kiss goodnight. That is not a nightmare. Whoa. And then you ordered a cider rice. Yeah, it was not a cider rice ever. And then you had to explain to her that you had IBS and lactose intolerance. Shut up. Oh, that is the worst. Most embarrassing, right? You didn't have to say it. What was I going to say? I tried. Many excuses. I tried. I'm allergic to Mexicans. I mean, anything would have been better. I'm Mexican. That's fine. I ate already. Wow. No, it's my bowels, guys. Hey, Mikey. The Mikey Show is on. I just want to say I love this show. I listen to you guys every single day. South Bay Motorsport. Shaved. Mexican. Bald head. Eddie. When I don't eat, I become a different person. person sky yes i'm not the only liberal person in the world sean i routinely obsess about the cleanliness of my windshield boston rob i have this when i'm merging from the 805 to the 8 you're afraid that it'll collide yes ashley hygiene is very very very important to me the mikey show's on something supernatural is going on rock 1053
President Bush awarded the Medal of Honor yesterday to the family of a Coronado-based Navy SEAL who threw himself on a grenade to save the lives of others. Apparently there's an effort now to oust Gene Upshaw as the NFL Players Association director. I saw a friend of mine I hadn't seen in about four years the other day, and I go, do you still live on Gaylord? My friend here in San Diego lives on a street called Gaylord, and he moved about two years ago. And I remember thinking to myself, And he used to tell me stories about how hard it was to, like, give his address. Right. Ordering pizzas. Sounds like every time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He said that his driver's license had it as G-A-Y-L-O-R-E. And I go, is that the way that you said it? He goes, dude. He goes, when I went to the DMV, he goes, I kept purposefully going, it's killer. And the girl goes, what is it? And he goes, Gaylord. And she just typed in what she thought he said. Oh, man. Because he was so embarrassed to say that he lived on a street called Gaylord. I used to work for a company in Gilroy called Gaylord Containers. They made cardboard boxes. That's right. They did. Yes, they did. And they were so supportive. Yes, they were. They're all pink. And it got me to thinking.
Have you ever lived on an embarrassing street name? You know what I mean? Like, this guy lives on Ham Boulevard right now. She does. And that's embarrassing. It's very ironic. It is. She lives on NKOTB Place. That would be cool. That would be awesome. I like Ham. So, yeah, have you ever lived on a street that had an embarrassing name that you just didn't want to, like, every time you had to give out your address, you kind of, like, winced? Cringe. Cringe at the name of it. Anybody on the show live on an embarrassing name? Yeah, I did. What was yours, Eddie? It was Queer Boy Court. Yeah, Queer Boy Court. I remember when you lived there. Not much you can do about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I did for a while when I was younger. What was it? It was Gay Wood. Wow. How do you even... That's a bad one. You put those two together. How do you put together Gay and Wood? We need a name of this street. I was, like, 9 or 10, and it was the worst, like, giving my friends directions. Yeah. That's for God. Yeah. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. Oh. So if you want to text us, feel free to text us. And I wonder if it's a deal where maybe that's just a guy thing. Like, would a chick, would you be embarrassed, Sky, of living on a street called Gaylord?
I wouldn't be embarrassed, but I would know telling my guy friends, like, oh, here's my address. Jokes. Yeah. But I believe if a girl told a girl that, they just, oh, okay, I'll get that letter. What if Rob told you he lived on Herpes Lane? I'd say fitting. Let's take a couple calls. Mikey Show, is this P1 Julie? Yes, it is. Hi. Hi. Where did you live? Yeah, I lived on a street called Peg Leg Mine Road. Peg Leg Mine Road. What the heck? Peg Leg Mine Road. San Diego? Jamul, yeah. Peg Leg Mine. Wow. Jamul. Did you ever find out what that was from? Right. Oh, yeah, there was a mine on the other. We lived on the south side of Peg Leg Mine Road and across the street. Up on the hill, there was mines, actually. They used to have a mine up there. Peg Leg Road sounds a little lame. Get it? I'm sure that's the first time. That's the first time she's probably ever in her life. That's probably the first time ever in her life that she's heard that before. Maybe Peg Leg was mining there. I don't know. There you go. Thank you very much, Miss Julie. How about you, Ash? You ever live on weird-sounding street? No, but I really thought about it, and I just don't think I would care.
I would do the whole thing where I would pretend that I don't even understand why it's a dirty name or why it's a weird name. Like, if anyone asked my street name, I'd be like, oh, yeah, Gaylord Court. And then if they started laughing, you'd be like, why are you? What? What's the problem? Wait, you play dumb? I don't understand. I like it. I'm shocked. I would do that. Or show love for me. I've always lived on cool names of streets. I lived on You're a Man Road. Oh, really? You're a Man Road? No, not You're a Man. Dude. Okay, it was. So you're just trying to say it fast. I was trying to say it fast so you guys would think it's cool. But the truth of the matter. Mikey Show. Hey, what's going on? I used to live on a street called Oak. And the local story was if she lives on Oak, she pokes because there was like sluts all up and down that street. Wow. That old story. I see. Scientific fact. Definitely an embarrassing name for a street. Good one, Rob. It wasn't Rob. That was my fault. Good one, Rob. I don't know that we can say that. Hey, Rob, I don't think we can say the name of that street. Good one, Rob. It's the name of a street. And maybe, could it really be? Is he being serious? I don't know. It's a girl. But I can't imagine that that was the name of that street.
F you, Lane. This is what I'm getting, man. You're the one that asked for it. Yeah, man. Yeah, man. D-Y, give me. Yeah, man. F for me. Flavor Flav? Get it. What? All right. Hope you find love, Rob. I have no idea what's going on. All right, I got to hear this. What? I want to hear this. What have we got? Yesterday on Good Morning America, Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie O'Donnell. was talking about well a lot of stuff but let's just listen to this clip cut 35 you've gone online and talked about drinking beer and said you stopped drinking beer problem with alcohol well i read the day after i wrote i stopped drinking beer i read i was a raging alcoholic going into rehab so you know on the blog what you say you know people can take and how they perceive it is there but the truth is
It was too many calories, and I was doing it too often, and I just thought, no more beer. Now, it doesn't mean I don't have a margarita at the Mexican place, because I do. I'm not by any means sober. But it's just not the every night kind of beer thing. Exactly. Because beer to me, I love it, and I drink it like it's water. I could have three beers at dinner and not think about it. I'm a 200-pound woman. So I can drink. Wait a second. When you look at calories wise and now that I'm 46 and there's a history of diabetes in my family, you know, trying to get a little bit of control over my physical health. And that was really the impetus. I eat Oompa Loompas. Head first. Now, wait a second. I eat them like olives. Delicious little people. I stick them on toothpicks there. Did I hear that wrong? Did I hear her say she stopped drinking beer because she was a raging alcoholic and checked into rehab? Did she or was she joking? I thought she was saying that she blogged about stopping drinking beer and then she felt the need to clarify herself because she didn't want people to think that she was a raging alcoholic and had to check. Oh, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it.
Okay, so the only reason she stopped drinking beer was because she realized it was too fattening. But then she goes on to say that at the Mexican places, she drinks margaritas, which, quite frankly, is just as many calories and, if anything, more sugar than beer. It's way more sugar. So, like, contradiction, what's up? Hey, contradiction. My husband lived on Peckerwood Lane in Oregon. Oh, no. That's a good one. Mikey, P1 Maddie here. Maddie. Maddie. I lived on a street called Gayland in Escondido. Is that the street or the city? Hey, Mikey, I lived on Furlong Way. It's P1 Bay Area. You're not supposed to live there. Mikey, when I lived in Sacramento, I lived on a street called Man Love. P1 Girly Girl. I love that. Man Love. How does that...
How did they do it? That is awesome. Like, are there rules to naming streets? You would think, man. You would think. That's terrible. Would you not move to a house if it was on a name of a street you didn't like? Well, it's funny because I was talking to my friend about Gaylord Place and he was like, dude, we loved this place except for the street name. Yeah. But what are you going to do? You find the perfect place. I might not do it if I didn't like the name of the street. Really? I might not move there. Really? Yeah. It's kind of a deal breaker. Well, yeah, I mean, but what if it's the perfect house? I don't know if I could live with the shame. Shame. That's right. You ever seen a grown man naked? Well, if you're not going to move in, Eddie. Hey, listen, pal. If you're looking for a rental property. I'm not. I'm not. Trust me. Easy. I have a new duplex on Man Breast Boulevard. That's really weird. Man Breast. It's one word. No. Okay. Noose. Stop. George. General Petraeus was heckled while he was trying to give a speech the other day on Capitol Hill. Cut 48. It's when the conditions are met that we can make a recommendation for further reductions. Could it be three months? Sir, again, at the end of the period of consolidation and evaluation, it could be right then.
Or it could be longer. Again, it is when... Bring them home! Sorry? Oh, bring them home. We're asking the audience... Bring them home! Bring them home! I'm afraid we're going to have to ask them again. General, we're going to ask you this question again. Sir, are you talking about the Giants? No, he's talking about the people on Big Brother. I see. Yes. It's their time to go home. What a strange guy. There's either that guy or not that guy. You may think it, but you may not be that guy. Rob Lowe has more problems now. If it wasn't enough that his nanny was like spilling the beans and saying that him and his wife did a bunch of stuff that they didn't want the world to know. Now he's saying that his personal chef.
was doing some stuff that he didn't like. It's like the whole Rob Lowe family is in an uproar. Crazy, yeah. The latest is his former personal chef, according to Rob Lowe, when Rob and his wife would go out of town, that this guy would basically throw parties in Rob Lowe's house. He would invite a bunch of people over. He would get intimate with women in Rob Lowe's bed. The chef? The chef. Come on. He would also steal. How does he know? How does Rob Lowe know that his chef was doing that? I don't know. Blacklight. Blacklight? Well. Get a test on it. But wouldn't you have to catch the person in the act? Or maybe other staff, maybe other employees told them. I don't know. He doesn't specifically say. But they say he also claims that his former personal chef would steal medicine out of their medicine cabinet. He would also, like, hand out their prescription drugs to guests at the party. Sorry. And, of course, steal food and a bunch of other stuff. Crazy. Where do I sign up, right? In Mexico, 70 Mexicans had to be hospitalized because this Mexican police, they're out there, they're doing these training things, right?
But they're guns. I don't know. Is that a gun? That's my gun. Why is that weird? Because Eddie did it yesterday and he made me laugh. They're at a shooting range. So they're at a shooting range. And one of the cops accidentally shoots a beehive full of Africanized bees. Come on. You don't accidentally shoot a beehive. That Eddie believes he did it on purpose. It's like, hey, man, check this out. Yeah. Well, the thing is, though, it made the bees mad. Oh, really? Get out. Go figure. That's crazy. Yeah, because these Africanized bees are the ones that people refer to as killer bees. Oh, racist, guys. Yeah, how come they have to be all up in the African bees, man? Why are we the killers? Well, because it started as an experiment to create honey production in Brazil. Yeah, once you stare at our hives then, yo. Damn. Yeah, don't be coming up in this hive. but at least 70 people needed to be hospitalized due to the bee stings, 10 of those in serious condition. I hate bee stings. Get out of here. You hate them? Yeah, they burn me. It's like if somebody was putting out a match on your arm is what it feels like to me.
My uncle once saved my sister from a wasp hive that fell on her. No way. It fell on her? Yeah, I think so. And what happened? I don't even think I was born yet. She was really little. Oh, my gosh. And it was at my grandparents' house. And this hive, like, I don't know if my sister found it or whatever, but it was this wasp hive. And it, like, the wasp went crazy and started stinging her. So he ran. Scooped her up and then jumped in the swimming pool with her to get away from them. Wow. And it worked? Yeah. Dude. That's crazy. That is a hero-like move. San Diego Unified School District says that they might change the start times for school for everybody in the whole district. Yeah, starting in the fall. A little later? 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Yeah, dude. That'd be rad. 2 to 12 at night? No. They're trying to bring consistency to the schedules across the district. So they say for everybody, the start time will be within about 30 minutes of where your start time is now. But they haven't set the specific time. They say if they do this change, it could save them about $3 million a year. So they say once it's set.
Parents will get a letter from the principal in the school with exact information, but they say it'll affect about 59 schools in the district. Hey, Eddie, how come the NFL, or I don't know who's doing it, but they're trying to, like, oust Gene Upshaw? Yeah, this is actually kind of crazy. Who's that? He's the head of the NFL Players Association. Okay. He's been the head of that for a really long time. For people that don't know, that's kind of a big deal. People that like football, they know this guy. People that dig the NFL have heard of Gene Upshaw because he makes a lot of the big rules. He's the guy that if the players don't like something, he'll go in there and say, hey, we'll strike or whatever. He's a big deal, former player. Apparently, Matt Stover, who's the kicker for the Baltimore Ravens, he's their representative in the players' union. Apparently there was an email that was found, or somebody found it or read it or whatever, that is him basically gathering up forces to oust Gene Upshaw. Really? Yeah. And so it caused a big controversy yesterday. And Matt Stover was basically like, well, yeah, I did write that. And it was unfortunate that everybody saw it, but we were talking about it.
Holy cow. What did Gene Upchuk say? Yeah, what did Gene Upchuk say about it? Gene Upshaw. How did he respond? He was not happy, obviously. Is he in the Players Club? He is. He's been in the Players Club now. He's a Players Club member. He's a platinum. He's not just a member. He's a client. He's in the house tonight. He's not, though. I don't even know what you're talking about. American Airlines, they had to cancel 500 flights yesterday. Today, I just saw 850 flights canceled. Oh, that's more. That's more than 500. That's right. Bring those people home for crying out loud. Stop striking. Bring them home. That's all those passengers at LaGuardia. Wow. Yeah. So make sure if you're traveling, especially on American Airlines. Oh, Logan, Mike. Oh, geez. Oh, yeah. How many got stranded at Logan? You don't have to just because it's the Boston airport. Yeah. Well, they don't break it down by city, Rob. Go Sharks. Yeah. I don't know, Rob. So why did they have to cancel them? Okay, so you know this whole Southwest thing that went down a while ago about how Southwest wasn't complying, and then they were fined all this money, and then they did an investigation, and then insiders from the FAA started saying, yeah. But the Southwest was lactose intolerant. They found out that the airline was lactose intolerant. They had to explain it. They had to explain it somehow.
Side of rice. So insiders from the FAA basically came out and said, yeah, this whole like this is a sham. Like they aren't inspecting the planes like they're supposed to. It's almost like the FAA is working for the airlines and it shouldn't be that way. So with all this going on, it's really caused a lot of the airlines to tighten up and actually take care of business that they should have been taken care of a long time ago. So in regards. In regards to American Airlines and the cancellations this week, it's all them trying to comply with federal rules regarding wiring on their planes. About 300 of their MD-80 aircrafts have some sort of wiring issues. That's awesome. That's freaking awesome. Great. So they're looking into it. Don't worry about us. We're just on your plane, millions of miles in the air. Yeah, bring them home. Yes. So you just don't trip out about your wires being not red. Yeah, don't trip. I'm good at it. Never flying again, Mike. Me either. Forget it. Our text number is 35253. Our phone number is 5701053. Give us a call. We'll talk to you next. Podcasts of the Mike. This is the big one. So, uh... Carly Smithson, that chick that sings on American Idol that worked at the field. Yeah. Downtown San Diego. Irish girl. One of her co-workers says, yeah, I worked with her for like three years, didn't even know she sang. And then one day she finally sang, and then once she started doing it, she wouldn't stop. Wow.
Yeah, her co-worker said, yeah, one day, just out of the blue, she goes, hey, do you guys know I can sing? And then she started singing, and that was New Year's Eve of 06. She did so hot last night, guys. What did she sing? The theme was inspirational songs. So weird. And she sang The Show Must Go On by Queen, and the judges did not like it. Cut 11. Okay, thank you. Wow. I think she's a good singer. I don't know about the song. Yeah, a bad song choice. Yeah, definitely. And Jason Castro did Issa's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Mike. Yeah, he did. Yeah, he did. I love that version. Oh, yeah, dude. Isn't that the best version? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me find it. We'll cut. Number five. Cut five. Ash, don't you like that guy? Love him. I want him to win. Oh, come on. Don't say that. He's so talented.
No, he's not. I love his look. This was a great song choice for him, but he is terrible. In your opinion. And I'm right. You're not. You are right. Every week I love him and his performance. You're garbage. He's got the dreadlocks, right? Yeah, and he's got these blue eyes and he looks at the camera and it's like I melt. Well, you guys realize it's a popularity contest. It's a singing competition. Thank you. Oh, that's a great. song and great version of that. Very good song choice for that. There it is. There it is. I'm saying Christy Lee Cook or Saisha going home tonight. I know. Eddie says Saeed might go home tonight. Wrong show. One of the others. Mikey Show. I'm calling P1 Armando. I'm just calling to see if you guys open air. I'll just turn on the radio. Yeah, Armando. Go right ahead. You're on the air. It's Mikey. I was calling because it was Eddie's birthday yesterday, and I was suggesting if he wears hats, there's a website called ecapcity.com where they sell a lot of charger hats, but different styles, like the Padre hat with the Chargers color and old school hats like that if he's interested. That's very nice. What is it? It's retro hats. I get it. What's the website? Retro hats. ecapcity.com. There you go. Hey, man, thank you.
You're welcome. That's very nice. Mikey Show. Hey, what's going on, Mikey? What's up, dude? Hey, Buckley. Buckley. What's up? Hey, I wanted to know the name of that P.O.D. song you guys played going into the break earlier. People dug that, man. That was cool. They really dug it. It was called Tell Me Why. Tell Me Why. It's a remake of the Backstreet Boys. It was not the remake of the Backstreet Boys. No, it was not that one. It's a different song, Eddie. Awesome song. They got a new CD out called When Angels and Serpents Dance. They're doing an in-store tonight in El Cajon at the Best Buy over there. Awesome. They're a cool band. Yeah, they're rad guys. Very cool. Yeah, with them up in Anaheim, they all stopped, took time, talked to me, took pictures, signed autographs. That's their whole thing, man. They do that. They're very cool. Yep, yep. Thank you, man. Love you guys. All right, see you. Mikey Show. Hi, Mikey? Yes. Hi, I found out... some more information about the Jerry Seinfeld crash? Oh, what did you find out? He took his car to Newman's brake and tire the night before. There it is. What's that? Kramer right there? Would you do it, Kramer? That was Jerry.
That was really good. That was the best. That may be the best flavor I think I've ever heard. Mikey Show. This is P1 Truth. Well, hello. I want to... Yes. Yes. Yes, go ahead. You're on the air. Really? Yes, you're on live. Speak with your mouth. Okay. No, no, no, no. Go. Check it out. Check it out. I wanted to talk to Mikey about the... Jesse Ventura thing. Do it. So there's two points I want to make. Never recorded history has any building near the size of the towers in Building 7 ever collapsed due to fire. There are many facts that support controlled demolition. How many buildings of that size have had planes fly into them? That's a really good question, Eddie, and it seems like he doesn't really have an answer for that. Let's hear him out. Okay.
The fires in the buildings weren't as large as some other fires in buildings comparable to that size. They had jet fuel floating all over them? No, no, no, no. I understand what you're saying. I think that what you're saying is that it's never happened before. And since every fire is exactly the same, then... Okay, I'm not going to get into arguing. Hold on, Charlie Sheen. I'm just going to say 911truthstory.com and sd911truth.org. Go there. Make up your own mind. Oh, I have. That's all I got to say. I've also heard of that thing, pocket change. No, loose change. Oh, loose change. Sorry. Sorry. Loose change. And, you know. Hey, listen. I've also heard of this thing called commonsense.org. Yes, yes. Check that one out. It's pretty good. Yes. No, it's in your head. Go to bostonrob.edu. Drive fantasyland.edu. Watch the videos and realize that. Buildings just don't fall straight down because there's something wrong with them at the top. I wonder who it was. I wonder if it was Condoleezza Rice that hatched the plan or if it was President Bush himself. It was Bush, for sure. He's the dark lord. We all know it was Cheney. Yes, Cheney is the dark lord. The puppet master. Thank you. I have a duty. You can think like that, Mikey.
No, no, no. I'm asking, who do you think was, like, the master diabolical creator of the, you know, conspiracy that is 9-11? Why is it a conspiracy? Oh, it wasn't a conspiracy then. It's not a conspiracy? Everybody knows about it? Like, if it's not a conspiracy, that means that everybody knows. Well, it's pretty plain if you do your own research. Well, but what I'm saying is that who do you think was behind this master plan? Chester Bennington. Neo-Christian. It was Neo-Christians. It was Neo-Christians. There you go. Well, listen, I think that it's interesting. Some of these ideas are very interesting. And I really like the ideas behind them. I've never heard Charlie Sheen say that he thought it was Neo-Christianity. But if you think that it's Neo-Christians, okay, that's not what I've heard. I've heard it was our own government. I heard it was Neo from The Matrix. I've heard that, too. I've heard that, too. I heard it was the guy that has the poodle named Precious in the movie. It was. Buffalo Bill. Yeah, it was Buffalo Bill. Buffalo Bill. Don't you fly my plane, lady. There you go, man. Do your own research and get the truth and finally figure it out and let's make a lawsuit against the government. Crackpot.org. I won't stop. I won't stop. I'm an American. I fight.
Mikey Show. Great. Mikey, Detail. Detail, what's up? I got a question that went on me a couple weeks, and I wanted your guys' take on it. Go ahead. What do you think? I hate it drives me wild when my girl uses my razor in the shower, when she has a perfectly good razor with a new blade that's specifically made for women, and why did she grab mine? Oh, I can't imagine why you're allowing that, Detail. I cannot imagine why you're allowing that. That is a no, no, no. No, no, no, no. You got a lady Bic. Yeah, I know. It's pink. It's pink. You got a lady Bic, and it's pink, and you can use that. It's Bic, Rob. I said Bic. That's right. He's our friend. There you go. Thank you. Mikey Show, last call. Bring us home. Oh, hey, Mike, it's Quimby. Hey, Quimby. Yeah, big brother. Hey, you guys were talking about... My favorite. Instantly killed her. My favorite. Instantly killed her. Okay. Okay. So, you know, you guys were talking about Opaque earlier, that blacked out restaurant. It's a restaurant in San Diego at the U.S. Grand Hotel that serves people food in the dark. Now, are you aware that the host and all the servers are blind? No, but I know that at the restaurant in New York that that's the idea, that a lot of blind people work there. Yeah. Yeah. Whoa. For real. How do they do that?
I don't know. That's cool. It's industrial light and magic, I guess. I don't know. Exciting. Thank you, Quimby. Bye. Bye. Lovely and talented Missy is coming up next, and she's got the all-request lunch today on the Nooner. See you back here tomorrow morning at 530. The Mikey Show's out. Later.
