Broadcasting from L.A. Boxing in Carlsbad, Mikey's crew built the morning around Eddie's inflatable-sumo challenge with Boston Rob, which Eddie swept after Rob's failed charging strategy. Ashley arrived one minute too late for Eddie's prediction, then later beat Rob 300-241 in a listener vote between their parody songs and earned the right to order him around on a future show. Sky was the center of two extended comedy bits: a list of obnoxious Starbucks archetypes and an embarrassed reading from Nora Roberts's Honest Illusions that the others argued was far tamer than she claimed. The show also debated Gladiator versus Braveheart, challenged a greatest-guitar-songs ranking, interviewed boxer Danny 'Dynamite' Perez, and argued over San Diego's carbon footprint and the leniency of Gary Dourdan's drug plea.

What happened, in order

  1. The Ashley Arrival Pool

The crew bet on whether Ashley would arrive before 6:40, and Eddie narrowly lost his lone under bet when she rushed in at 6:41 and immediately attacked a punching bag.

  2. Gladiator vs. Braveheart

Mikey opened a caller debate over whether it would be better to live as Maximus or William Wallace, prompting arguments about suffering, leadership, romance, kilts, and the suspicious neatness of Maximus's ancient haircu

  3. The Sumo Challenge

Eddie defeated Boston Rob in two straight inflatable-sumo rounds, first overpowering him and then simply stepping aside as Rob launched himself face-first onto the mat.

  4. Eight Starbucks Menaces

Sky's list of annoying Starbucks customers turned into improvised portraits of jargon-enforcing managers, self-important writers, complicated-order executives, study groups, and Rob as the regular who claims to hate the

  5. Sky's Scandalous Paperback

Sky called Nora Roberts's Honest Illusions practically pornographic, fetched it from her car, and blushed through a supposedly shocking passage while the others mocked her for being scandalized mostly by kissing.

  6. Dynamite at Work

Boxer Danny 'Dynamite' Perez and his trainer explained his conditioning, mitt work, daily sparring, powerful left hook, 34-5 record with 17 knockouts, and planned June 19 return.

  7. Greatest Guitar Song Guessing Game

The crew noisily guessed Rolling Stone's top five guitar songs, objected to omissions such as Guns N' Roses, and rejected the list after Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B. Goode' was revealed at number one.

  8. Parody Song Showdown

Boston Rob's 'Wicked Drunk in the Pub' faced Ashley's happy-weight anthem 'Junk in My Trunk,' and Ashley won the listener vote 300-241, making Rob her on-air servant for a future show.

  9. The Carbon Footprint Argument

Sky reported that San Diego had the tenth-smallest per-capita carbon footprint among major U.S. urban areas, then defended her own conservation habits while Mikey and the crew challenged nearly every example.

  10. The Gary Dourdan Drug Plea

The hosts criticized Gary Dourdan's no-jail plea deal on cocaine and ecstasy charges, while Mikey jokingly invented an elaborate innocent explanation for why the drugs were in his car.
