The show opened with Mikey's crew arguing that the Jets' decision to sign Brett Favre and cut Chad Pennington revealed how little confidence the organization had in Pennington. Team Awesome beat Team Sass in Battle of the Sexes, listeners chose events for Eddie and Boston Rob's P1 Olympics, and callers supplied disastrous first-date and haircut stories. LaDainian Tomlinson said the healthy Chargers still had to turn talent into performance, while Chris Cornell explained his touring freedom and the creative evolution of his 'Billie Jean' cover. The crew also roasted Boy Blunder's awkward Kevin Smith question, debated whether L'Oreal lightened Beyoncé's image, and heard Mikey end with a candid account of abuse, addiction, faith, and recovery.
What happened, in order
Favre Lands With the Jets
Mikey and the crew reacted to Brett Favre joining the Jets and argued that releasing Chad Pennington showed how little faith the team had in its former starter.
Sunshine's Haircut Disaster
Caller Sunshine said a stylist turned a requested trim into a much shorter A-line cut, prompting an argument over whether she had waited too long to demand a refund.
Battle of the Sexes
Team Awesome and Team Sass traded sports and pop-culture questions until Skye's wrong sudden-death answer on the back of a dollar bill handed the men the win.
The P1 Olympics
Mikey announced that listeners would choose three Olympic-style events for Eddie and Boston Rob, with Greco-Roman wrestling, archery, and the 100-meter dash leading the vote.
First-Date Red Flags
The hosts launched a weird-first-date bit after hearing about a man who disclosed an exhibitionism arrest, while Eddie described abandoning a date with an aspiring comedian who became ill at a concert.
LT Talks Football
LaDainian Tomlinson said he was healthy and eager for the Chargers season, argued that talent matters only when a team performs, and treated Brett Favre's exit as the painful business of football.
Boy Blunder Meets Kevin Smith
The crew replayed Boy Blunder nervously questioning Kevin Smith before 5,000 Comic-Con fans and teased him when his joke to producer Scott Mosier landed as an awkward murmur.
The L'Oreal Beyoncé Debate
The crew compared Beyoncé's L'Oreal ad with candid photos and debated whether lighting or digital editing had made her skin and hair appear dramatically lighter despite the company's denial.
Chris Cornell on Reinvention
Chris Cornell discussed mixing Soundgarden, Audioslave, solo songs, and audience requests on tour, then explained how his slowed-down acoustic arrangement transformed Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean.'
Mikey's Testimony
Mikey closed by recounting childhood sexual abuse, loneliness, alcoholism, and recovery through Christianity, offering listeners hope and directing people in crisis toward help resources.

It is 6-0-7. The Olympic opening ceremonies began early this morning, but will air tape delayed tonight on NBC. Brett Favre was introduced to the media yesterday as the new Jets quarterback. The last 24 hours have been crazy. Really, the last two weeks, three weeks, this whole offseason has been bizarre, whatever you want to call it. But it is what it is. I am a member of the Jets. I'm excited about it. I'm excited about the opportunity. Crazy, man. Yeah, it was nuts, man. You know, Jets had a preseason game yesterday. You can see Brett on the sidelines. Wow. Standing there. He didn't dress, but he was there. He was just like in clothes? Yeah. Wow. It is going to be really a trip to see him. And you know how you asked me yesterday, you know, what about Chad Pennington? Yeah, how does he feel? Well, he probably feels pretty bad being that they released him yesterday. Oh, my God. For real? There's no quarterback controversy. Wow. They cut him.
I bet somebody will pick him up. Yeah, they said about six teams are interested, including the Vikings and the Dolphins, a couple other teams. Dude, that is crazy. What's even crazier about it is it just, more than saying anything about Brett Favre, it sure says so much about what they thought about Chad Pennington because they know that Brett is an older guy. It's not like they're saying Brett's our future. I think Brett may be there right now. Yeah. Definitely there right now. Yeah. Because he's still, you know, probably got a pretty good season or maybe two left in him or whatever. He's an older guy. Yeah. But they definitely are going well, Chad. You know, we just, I don't know. We'll see ya. Yeah. Good knowing ya. Man. Crazy. Welcome to the show. We have a big, incredible show for you today. LaDainian Tomlinson will be on the show today. LT? LT. Wow. Nice. Maybe the best male vocalist of all time, Chris Cornell, will be on the show today. How incredible is it that within the time span of one hour, The Mikey Show will be talking to quite possibly the best running back when it's all done. LT could make a compelling argument to be the best running back of all time. And Chris Cornell could be the best singer of all time. Be on The Mikey Show within the time span of one hour. Pretty awesome. Awesome!
introduce. Let's go around and introduce everybody and start calling too and text messaging us. 35253 is our text message number. Our phone number is 5701053. We have Chantel in the studio with us this morning. You guys gotta get... I know. Neither of you have cooties. Neither of you have cooties. So you can be. Are you sure? Well. Have you seen Rob? I mean, have you looked at him? I love Rob. Yeah. Rob is pointing to Chantel. Chantel is loving Rob. Aw. But they are sharing a mic. I've realized that I need to have eye contact with Rob. I have to. Otherwise, it doesn't work. So Rob is right in front of me. So is Chantel. Chantel back in the studio because we're doing Battle of the Sexes today. And it should be real good. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I am 38 years old, and I'm wearing a shirt that has a bullseye on the front of it. It's a bullseye. Oh, well, hello. It's like a target. What does that signify? What are you saying to the world? Exactly, Sky, you get it. Okay, all right. So Eddie is our producer, and he is our sports guy. He is 35 years old, 35 years of age.
He was born in 1970 what, Eddie? Three. 1973. And Eddie, do you share a birthday with anybody famous? John Schneider from the Dukes of Hazzard. Nice. Really? What? Not bad. Yeah. Not bad, right? It's pretty cool. Yeah, it is. That's neat. Skye is our news girl. Do you share a birthday with anybody, Skye? I actually don't know. I've never checked. What? Yeah, man. You got to know that. Everybody knows her. All right. I'll tell you. I'll tell you. I don't. I'll tell you. You don't know either? I'll tell you right now, Skye. Celebrity is... Ashley gets it. Well said. October 22nd. Go. What do we got, Mike? Your birthday, Skye, is shared with Joan Fontaine. Who? No, I'll just give you the ones that matter. You ready? Okay, yes, please. Christopher Lloyd. Oh. From Back to the Future. All right. Not bad. Funicello. Oh, wow.
Well, good. How about you? Glad to hear it. Dorothy Hamill? Get it? You get it, Sky? Dorothy Hamill? Yeah, okay. We're all really funny right now. Mark Hamill? Sky, you share a birthday with Jeff Goldblum. Oh, hey. How about that? That is the end of the big names. So Jeff Goldblum is the biggest name I got. Pretty much. Ichiro. Share a birthday with Ichiro. That's cool. You guys are very, very similar. You share a birthday with a very famous hockey player with the last name Chaton, right? I don't know. Chaton. Well said. Chaton. Miroslav. Miroslav. Miroslav. Well said. What are you doing? Yeah. Bless you. And it looks like that's it, Sky.
Those are the biggies. Oh my goodness. You also share a birthday with Jonathan Lipnicki. So there he is. That's right. Jonathan Lipnicki. This is so similar. We are. Same size heads. Okay, wait. Jonathan Lipnicki will be turning 18 this year. Holy cow. Shocking. He was the little kid from Jerry Maguire. That's right. Congratulations, Skye. Shawnee, oh boy. He's our sound effects guy. Look at him there. He is so cute in the camera. Well, he lives up in the Bay Area and so we see him on a camera on our computer screens and he does have some very interesting facial expressions that he gives us each day and they are very, very unique to him.
Mike, that's because I had them take the chair out of here and replace it with a commode. Oh, come on. Okay, that is not true. That is not true. Why go there? Please. That's my friend, Sean. Wow. Good morning. Ashley is our assistant producer. And, man, she's got those bangs, doesn't she? Those things are getting long. She bangs. Yeah, those things are getting long. They grow fast. Yeah. How long are you going to let them get? I just, because I am too scared to, like, cut my own bangs. Yeah. Who knows what could happen? I'd be catastrophic. Maybe rock or rock. Probably not. Probably not. She does not like that. The toenail clip is out. That's right. Chew them off. Oh, yeah, that's right. So I just kind of let them grow, and then I get my hair did every five weeks. That's right. There it is. I don't know what's on my camera, Mike. What's the matter? Well, it's gone. Do we know what's going on? Oh, it's actually missing?
I mean, I just looked over and realized it's gone. Like, I signed on, like, blah, blah, blah. Why is my screen black? Rob, is it falling down behind the computer? Yes, it has. What do I do? Pick it up. Pick it up. You walk around. Does that work out? You stand up first. Maybe you could go get it, Ash. And you walk around. Go get it. With your feet. I'll do that. Ash, can you go get your camera? Oh, right now. Okay. Oh, boy. Wow. She's such a princess. Yeah. She's cute. There she goes to get her camera. She's so irritated. Are you happy now? Boston Rob is... He is actually from Boston. Yeah. He's 25 years old. I found out my celebrity birthdays. Oh, yeah? Who are they? Not that great, Mike. Who do you got? The... Famous Katherine Heigl? No. Katherine Heigl? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's huge. Knock it up, bro. Totally. He had no clue who that was. Heigel? It goes into the 1800s. Celebrities from the 1800s and 1700s. Really? Yeah. That's it, Katherine Heigl? America? But the day after, JFK. So me and JFK are in the same Zodiac sign.
Okay. So you don't have any big celebrities that share your birthday. I thought I did, like Austin Powers or something like that. Austin Powers, by the way. I don't know. I share a birthday with Brooke Shields and Clint Eastwood. Those are the two most famous people. Oh, sweet. That's right. Let's see. And then, finally, there is Roosevelt, Zethian, Oates III, Jr., Esquire, MD. Oh, boozy. Rosie is 23 years of age. And a good kid, very tall. And he's our phone screener now. Because him and Rob have switched jobs. She's a baby. And he does a pretty good job. He's doing a pretty good job screening phone calls for me. I think it was a good thing. We also have a couple of people in the studio. And they won on... P1 Trivia. They both did really, really well. One is P1 Ron. Raise your hand, Ron. How are you, Ron? And he's 25 years old. And he is an electrical engineer. And used to work for In-N-Out. And used to know where every location was. Like you'd memorized every location. At the time, how many locations were there at the time?
Oh, wow. Okay, wow. That is a fun fact. Yeah, was it just you wanted to know some fun facts? Uh-huh. I live in California. Where's In-N-Out Burger? Gotcha. They have such a line? Didn't know that. I need to put that in my phone. Yeah, I bet my wife's already got it on speed dial. Right. My wife calls In-N-Out. She refers to it as yum. She never calls it In-N-Out. She just says, I want yum tonight. Oh, cute. Never calls it In-N-Out. Adrian is in the studio as well. And she lost P1 Trivia, but she did good. And so we allowed her to come in here. She works for Chase. So she does foreclosures. Oh, you. You're a bad person. No. She's just doing her job. Come on. You're the devil. Adrian, is that a rough job? Talk to borrowers. We're trying to work with people. Yeah, right. You try to help them, right? Yeah. Stay along, do modifications.
Helping them save their house. Say she's a helper. Sure. She's trying to help out. I know you. That's P1 Adrian. So, yeah, we got a full house today. And give us a call. 570-1053 is our phone number. And to start the show off and to end the show, we just open those lines up for you and let you call about anything that you'd like. And we encourage you to text message us as well. 35253. is the text number. This is P1 Sunshine. And before we get started, Sunshine, if you can, tell people what a P1 is. That is so awesome. You nailed it. Oh, that is impressive. Man, that made me smile. You said that, and I got a big, giant smile on my face. That's impressive, and I appreciate it. So, what's going on, Sunshine? Where did you come here from, by the way? Where did you move from? I'm sorry? Where did you move here from? I moved here from Texas. What part? Wichita Falls. It's like a really small town. Yeah, dude. Yeah, dude, you came here from Texas. That's great. It means you're classy. Is that what it means? Yeah, it means you're classy. You come from the great state of Texas. Yeah, hook them horns. That's right.
That's right, hook them horns. How about the longhorns? That's the longhorns if you go to the University of Texas, all right? Thanks, bro. Why are you thanking me for university? Why are you thanking me, Woods? Dude, I know you went there, all right? Woodsy, I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, bro. I went to Holy Cross, all right? That's a great score, dude. No, it isn't, dude, all right? It's Division II. Hang on a second, bro, before you start beating yourself up over it. Yeah, dude, you're playing the Rose Bowl, bro. Okay, what do I do? You got a chance. I'll tell you what you have. You have a championship golf team on that school. All those guys are incredible. They're incredible golfers. They represent that school with pride and dignity. Pride and dignity. It's not weak, dude. It's great. You drive a Beamer, dude. I drive a Saturn. We're in my Beamer right now, bro. Hang on a second. Whoa. Ew. Ew. Hold on, lady. Woodsy. Sweetheart, is that sunshine still on the line? Yeah. Sunshine, hang on just a second, sweetheart, okay? I'm trying to have a conversation with my boy Woods. Dude, you're spitting all over my BMW. No, no, dude. I rolled the window down. You rolled the window down, but you're spitting right on the deck. It is gross. I roll my own, all right? Yuck. Why?
Take your tennis shoes off my dashboard. You're crossing your legs. You've got long legs, bro. You're tall. Your tennis shoes are hitting my dashboard. Do you not want your boy to be comfortable? I want my boy to be comfortable. All right, then. I'll count the leather all ruined, dude. Hey, dude, pull in this Whataburger right here. It looks delicious. What do you want? I'm pulling into Whataburger. It's 3 o'clock in the morning, bro. I'm starving. It's bad for you to eat at that time. Don't tell me what to do. You're not my dad, right? I know that. It's 3 o'clock in the morning, all right? I'm starving. I'm not pulling in there. It's 3 in the morning. Dude, you're spitting in my car. Stop it. Sunshine. Love her. I got a really, really horrible haircut yesterday. It's horrible. It's right below my chin. Like a half an inch below my chin and my hair was like below my shoulders yesterday. What did you tell them to do when they did that? Chantel looks mortified. Oh, I know. Chantel looks like she's going to just freak out. So sorry. I had an A-line.
Stop. Whoa. Stop. Skye, what's that mean? Like where it's shorter up in the back and then it gets longer down in the front. That's what those are called? That's called something? I did not know that. That's called an A-line? Because it's kind of like if you have like an A wrapped around your neck, you know, the point of the A's in the back. I had no idea. I did not know that. My girl Crush from American Gladiators got the haircut. There you go. She's got an A-line. Very hip. Very hip. Okay, so you had an A-line and what... And what did you tell her? Longer A-line, and I just wanted it trimmed up and shortened a little bit, about three inches off all of the hair. Well, she cut like seven inches because she's screwing up, and just, it was so uneven that she just kept cutting and cutting. And I hate confrontation. Oh, my. So I'm just like, okay, okay, whatever, just whatever. I've had short hair before. I can deal with it. It was like $40 at the end. And I just left. I was like, okay, well, I'm really upset, but whatever. I'm just going to leave, pay or leave. So I go to the mall and this girl fixes it for me for $15 and it looks amazing. It's just really, really short. If you were in that situation, what would you do? Like, would you go back and like ask for your money back? No. No? No. I think...
Your time was right when it happened. You should have said, I don't think I should have to pay for this haircut. But once you walk out, it's done. It's over. You can't go back after that. I agree 100%. Yeah, you should have made a beeline for the manager's office. Or an A-line. Okay. All right. The manager who I usually have cut my hair, she was like an hour late and I had to be somewhere. And this was her daughter that just decided to play. Right. I'm sorry. That sounds like a bummer. Yeah. Eddie, do we have any kind of prize that we could give to Sunshine? Yeah, I'm sure we do. Hey, Sunshine, I'm going to put you on hold and try to make you happier by giving you something, okay? All right, sounds great. What a bummer. Hang on the line. Oh, that sucks. I'm sweet of you to have sympathy for. Yeah. Some guys are like, who cares? Hey, Sunshine, I also, I want to ask you, are you there? Do we have just one of the guys that we could give her? Oh, wow. You're such a jerk. I just want to give her the movie, just one of the guys. What's wrong? No? I'm sure she still looks very feminine. Stop it. I have a question, Sunshine. Victor Victoria? Hey. The crying game. Oh, my. Oh, my. Time out. Oh, man.
Sunshine, are you still there? Sunshine, yeah, yeah, question. What did the new lady, how did she fix it? Like, what did she do to fix it up for you? Well, the front, she left the front, like, as long as it was, and she just made it a dramatic A-line. So it's really short in the back, which I didn't mind at all at first. Uh-huh. And it's, like, probably still a little bit below my chin. So, I mean, I'm happy with it. It's fine. It's just a little, well, like. I want to see you so bad. Oh, my. I want to see what it looks like. Okay. Will you send a picture? Yes. To the text? No, you can't send it to the text. You can't do that. But hang on. Hang on. Email? Yeah. Yeah. Hang on a second. And Zeth will hook you up, all right? Great. Hang on. Zeth. AOL. Give her AOL. I want to see this, and I'll show everybody. We won't put it on the website, though. Don't worry. I want to see what a dramatic A-line looks like. If you want to run, Mexico's on the line. Yo, yo, rat. What up? Yo, yo, yo. What's up? What's up, Mikey? I got two points. Hey, man, I checked out the pictures yesterday about you guys going to boot camp. Uh-huh. Hey there, Tiger. You're looking good. Yeah.
Two things. Number one, I like Tiger. Number two, thank you very much. I've lost weight and it makes me feel happy in my heart. Yes. Yeah, man. I met you at the P1 party back at Dave and Buster's and when I saw the pictures, I'm like, whoa, skis. Yeah, man. I was blogging today. My wife told me yesterday that the guy that's helping us get our life insurance was in contact with her. We were talking about last year when I was trying to get life insurance, which was, it was too expensive. We couldn't do it because it was too expensive. Because I wasn't very far out of rehab yet. And I, at the time, had messed up my back and I was taking pain meds. And I weighed 260 pounds. And, you know, so she knew because he was writing or telling her how much I weighed. I weigh 210 today. Yeah, man. Wow. Which is still a lot, but for me, it's really great. Awesome. It's really great. Yeah, it's good for you now. Oh, look at you. Show off. Look at you. Hey, dude, thanks for the call, man. I appreciate it. I have one more point, though, Mikey. Go ahead. You know how we could email you guys from time to time? I emailed Sean that I was going to an 80s party, a theme party, and I asked him, what theme should I go with? Should I go with, like, The Cure? You know, like a Robert Smith vibe?
Miami Vice, and he never got back to me. He probably thought you were messing with him. Yeah. He knows who I am. He knows all the time. He's junkie. What is your name? Like, who are you? And maybe he'll recognize you. Well, I told him I was in the studio at Pijuana, Mexico, a.k.a. The New Wave Goddard. I bet that your question... I'm just taking a guess because I know Sean really well. My guess is that if he did know who you are and he didn't respond to you, your question just flat out annoyed him and wasn't worth his time. Now, listen, listen, I'm not making a comment on whether or not I think that's cool. I'm just saying I know Sean pretty good. Sean's pretty open and clear about it. He hates our listeners. He's very honest about it. He says it right up front. He says, I don't like you. In fact, he says they're pigs. And so they refer to them. So there are people who really think that's hysterical that don't get that he's not kidding. And they call themselves his piggies. And so, yeah, it's really great. It's really great. I'm sorry, Ron Mexico. Yeah, sorry, Ron Mexico. Don't take it personally. Don't think too much into it. And don't analyze it. All right. I still love you, Sean.
There we go. Rude, man. P1 Mike. Hi. I just recently moved to San Diego, too, and I heard the show last week, and I'm hooked. That is great. Wow. It's a good day. Awesome. Oh, I'm feeling good. That makes me feel good. That makes me feel so good. Where did you come from? Just Sacramento. Oh, cool. All right. Well, thank you for listening. We're glad you're here, and have a good day. Yeah, you guys too. All right, man. Text messages. 35253. Mikey, joke of the day. How do Mexicans cut their pizza? With Little Caesars. Ha ha. I don't get it. Caesars. Caesars. Oh, get it? Like, because a guy. Oh, oh, oh. With Little Caesars. Yeah. With Little Caesars. You have to say it with the accent. With Little Caesars. That's funny. Ha ha. It is.
Hey, Mikey, have you ever had a dream about someone you know and woke up upset at them? Despite the fact that you know it was just a dream. And sometimes it works in the reverse. You have a nice dream about somebody. Like the other night, I had a nice dream that Sean was dressed as a woman and we went to yoga together. And I woke up saying, Sean's my friend. Is that the truth? Yeah. What the hell? Yeah, he was dressed full-on, like, reminiscent of a transgendered person we used to work with, Fran. Full-on dress and makeup, and we were chatting and walking down the hall with our yoga mats, and then went into yoga and started stretching together. Was that really a dream? Yeah, had a really nice... Did it really happen? Sounds like a documentary. Had a really nice talk, and I woke up happy. Wow. That's really weird, because I'm pissed off at you right now. That is odd, but you looked gorgeous. Sky, have you ever had a good dream about Eddie or me? I've got to think about that one a while. I know I had a bad dream about Eddie a long, long time ago. For some reason, I was wearing lingerie at work, and then he abandoned me and wouldn't give me a ride, and I'm stuck on the side of the road in lingerie. I do that.
I remember that was a weird one. Wow. Yeah. Well, there we go. Tell them about all the sex fumes you have about me. You wish. Well, you brought it up. I don't. Please. That was an interesting exchange. Please. Fine. We'll go with that. You're a clown. Okay. Years ago, a listener nicknamed Eddie. The Sports Oracle. We call them the Oracle. This text message says, hey, Oracle, what's up? Just had my fantasy football draft yesterday, and I know it's kind of early, but I have a quarterback problem. Should I start Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, or John Kitna, or trade? Eddie. I mean, is that a serious question? Really? First of all, I'm annoyed that you had your draft this early. Wow. It's annoying. Why?
What's the disadvantage to that? Well, there's a lot of disadvantages being that there's preseason football and there's injuries that happen and things like that. You don't have your draft. You never have your fantasy football draft. Until the week before the season starts. That is true. It's a good idea. It's a golden rule. I don't like people that have... Chantel is confused by the waving of your finger right now. He's Italian. It drives me down to the stands. Talks to the stands. Very big hot button for me that people do that. Talks to the stands. Secondly, you have Carson Palmer and you're asking me... You're telling me you have a quarterback problem? Yeah, yeah. I don't understand what is the problem. Matt Leinert is unproven. We know that he's, you know... He's not a viable starting quarterback right now in fantasy football. So he's not an issue. John Kitna, he's not running the Mike Martz offense anymore. So I'm sincerely doubting that he's going to put up the numbers he had last year. So, duh, you're going to start Carson Palmer. Come on, bro. Wow. He knows better than that. Well, hello.
Calm down. More fantasy football advice like that on Saturday, tomorrow. Starting at 2 o'clock. Nice. Fantasy creaking football. It's back. Football is back. My Costa, B-Dub, and me. I can't believe that in just a few short months, like, well, three months, about three months from now, we're going to start smelling fireplace wood in the air. Talk about it. You know what I mean? No, I do not talk about it. We'll be getting out of our car and it'll be chilly and we're going to smell fireplace wood burning in the air and it's going to be that time of year. You know what I'm saying? You wake up in the morning and you brew some coffee and you get all bundled up and you put a blanket across your legs and you turn the TV on and there's football. It's going to be nice. Yeah.
Incredible show today. Incredible show. Speaking of football, I don't know. Ever heard of LaDainian Tomlinson? Holy moly. He's going to be on the show today. Singer Chris Cornell on the show today. We got a big announcement for Eddie and B-Rob. And what is their next challenge? That is right. Sorry, bro. We got one doozy of a YouTube clip of the day for you today. Dude. It is a guy singing a male-female duet by himself. Both parts. How about this? We have audio up. Now, to you new listeners, this may not compute. But what you will enjoy if you're a new listener is what will happen as we discuss. But for those of you that have been listening to The Mikey Show for a number of years, we used to have...
A kid on the show named Boy Blunder. Love him. He was fired. We're still really good friends with him. We've known him now for 10 years. He started working with us 10 years ago. I hired him out of San Jose to work for the show as just a kid, man. He wasn't even 21 yet. He was 20 years old. And just a cute little cherubic. Wait, what? Chubby little cheeks. Cherubic. Just a sweet little guy. And he went on to make mistakes that cost the radio station in very profound ways. Multiple times, he accidentally forgot to bleep the F word out of radio segments that we did and they went out all over the air. Accidentally? Well, he did that twice, actually. He made that mistake a couple of times. He was finally fired for it. He's been rehired now with the afternoon show here at this radio station. Against my better judgment and advice. But, yeah, he does. He works for the radio station. We call him Boy Blunder. His name is Rick. And he was at Comic-Con. You know when they have those giant convention halls?
Director Kevin Smith is up there at a lecture hall, and Boy Blunder gets up and asks a question, and we got the audio of it. Love it. And we're going to make fun of it. We are. We are. We are. And so all of this and much more is on the show today. We are so late right now, but we'll come back and have fun. Mitch Hedberg in the stand-up spotlight. I like to play blackjack. I'm not addicted to gambling. I'm addicted to sitting in a semi-circle. My friend is a blackjack dealer. And on his forearm, he has a tattoo of an ace and a jack. You see, I'm a blackjack player. On my forearm, I'm going to get a tattoo of a 10 and a 2. And then maybe later, a king. Then hurry on down to Hooters. I do like to put things off until the last minute. Eddie. I keep a log of my insults. That must be a pretty long log. That's what she said. Sky. Save that clip. Sean. I don't often drink milk, but when I do, I have to salt. Boston Rob. I got ideas, man. They're worth money. And Ashley. I don't know anything.
I bought that. Save that clip. Save that clip. You will save that clip. I will not. Welcome back to the show. It's a Mikey show. It is 6.51. For the first time, Miley Cyrus has talked about her relationship with Nick Jonas, saying that her and her ex were in love. Oh, man, I got to tell you, this was really exciting. Jody Garrett for the Padres hit a home run in the ninth inning to tie the game with the Mets. And then David Wright, in the bottom of the ninth, hit a walk-off home run to beat them. Oh, are you kidding? Come on. It's just one of those years where things just happen and then... That is brutal. Yeah. Are you talking about Brian Giles? No. Brian Giles is going to be probably traded to the Red Sox. Are you kidding? Yeah. For what? For what? Probably nothing. Hot dog? Yeah. A hot dog. Sorry. Clamp chowder. Oh, there you go. That Padres, dude. Yeah, it's a fire sale now. You know, I could be respectful and I'd like to talk to...
The owner. John Morris? Is that his name? I could be respectful, but I'd like to talk to him and have some really honest and genuine questions. Some honest dialogue? Yeah, as a fan. I'd like to say, sir, you know, anger is hurt, sadness, and fear. And I'm hurt by you. And I'm saddened by you. And so, you know, subsequently, I'm angry. I'm angry. And this is the questions that I have for you, sir. You said that you would... want our community to put forth money, tax money, to build this big, beautiful place. And boy, you sure did. It's a beautiful place. It's gorgeous. But man, that baseball team, they don't seem to. Well, I have to give you credit. You know, they do. They have won the National League West. Yeah, they've done that. But boy, they just don't seem to get to the show. They just don't seem to do it. And boy, this season sure is a turkey, isn't it? So, you know, how come we can't do stuff like the St. Louis Cardinals, you know, have players? They're not a big, gigantic city. In fact, by population and market size, at least in television and radio, we're bigger than them. Wow. So how come we can't be a contender?
That's a good question. You know, is it because, and genuinely, is it because you're using the money for you? I don't know the answer to that. I don't know the answer. That is a far out question. He's going through a divorce right now. I don't know. So that's half of his dough right there. I don't know the answer. I mean, I'm not saying that because I know that that's true. I'm saying that because I just don't know why he's not spending the money. This is an easy fix for the Padres. What is it? The season's awash. We're done. Who cares? Okay. In the off-season, they need to bring the fences in Petco Park in. Can they actually do that? Yes. Can they actually do that? Yeah, they can. Yeah, you can. Because I remember when you used to say that. I remember one day sitting in the seat, Eddie, and asking my wife, and she didn't obviously know, but I was like, I wonder if they could just, because this is terrible, you know, how far it is out there. I wonder if they wanted to bring in the fence and make it a smaller ballpark. Absolutely. Right now it's a pitcher's park, which is great for Jake Peavy and Chris Young and those guys, but our offense has to get better. And if we're not going out and buying the Manny Ramirez's and the Jason Bay's and those kind of guys, that's fine. It's fine. But can we bring the fence in a little bit so Adrian Gonzalez can hit 40 home runs a year and the people that we actually do have on the team can be good? Right.
That'd be great. We could also bring back the T, you know, from T-Ball. Don't be like this. Don't be like this. We're hurting. You know what? That was wrong. We never make fun of your Red Sox. That's right. How dare you? How dare you? That's true. Text messages that we're getting at 35253. Mikey, I also just arrived to San Diego from the Bay Area, caught the show one day, and now I'm hooked, just sad. I never had it in the Bay Area. That's P1 Promise. Awesome. Yeah, we were up there in 2003. This one says, have you thought about changing the opening song? Maybe to something more upbeat and not begging for people to stay. The show is awesome, but you don't need to beg. Oh, that's funny. I don't... I very genuinely and 100%, like, honestly, I don't understand the emails. Almost like I was reading Greek. I don't get what they mean. Well, you know the song we played at the beginning of the show? Yeah.
I guess they're thinking that when he's saying, oh, baby, please don't go. We're saying that to the listeners, which we've never thought of. What a crazy interpretation of that song. A person that wrote that, did you really think that that was the deal? No, they didn't. You think they did? Call us at 570-1053. The person that wrote that, were you texting that as a joke? Or did you really feel like, hey, you know, we kind of have this feeling, you know, like, baby, please don't leave me. Because that is the name of the song. Yeah. And, of course, that will be changed at some point. Because I get this thing where I'm like, you know, I got a new one. Had this long enough. Change. That's right. Is that her Barack? Yeah, that's her Obama impression. That's good. That's a really good Obama. Really good. Well said. I thought he was in the room. Really good. Hey, Oracle. Hey. I was wondering, how do you think my boy Colt Brennan will do this season? P1 Flying Hawaiian. Ah. I think that Colt Brennan is the, he was quarterback for Hawaii last year. Okay. Broke a lot of records, but he's kind of a smaller guy. Kind of reminds me of Jeff Garcia a little bit. Or Rod. Come on. I mean, out of nowhere. She's trying to get context.
I don't know. Rob didn't even sucker punch. It was as if he didn't hear a word. His expression didn't change. But Colt Brennan will be probably a third-string quarterback for the Redskins this year. People get very excited in preseason when some of these guys go out and do real well, but they're not going to overtake the starters. It just doesn't happen like that. It would be really cool for Colt to make the team. I think that's awesome. He's doing really well, and he's going to be a great third-string quarterback right now and maybe eventually a backup. But, you know, let's relax and not get too excited. Hey, Mikey, did Eddie ever get his indoor-outdoor dog, or did he silently lose the battle with the wife? P1 runs too high. It is very low on my priority list right now. I got a lot of stuff going on with the house. It will happen. Okay. I'm not even concerned about it. I'm just going to one day. This is my game plan. She's probably listening. I don't even care. I'm just going to come home one day with a dog and there's going to be a dog at the house. That's crazy. You need to pick it out together. That's not fair to her. She'll love it. But what if she gets a resentment? She won't. She'll fall in love with the dog. The dog will have a sterling personality.
Yeah, because you don't want to buy them at pet shops. I've learned that. Good job, Eddie. Thanks, homie. So what will you do? I'll just go one day to the shelter or town and find a puppy and say, I like you. And I'll say, you want to come home with me? And I'll say, for sure. Awesome. I love it. And I'll say, meet my... New mommy? Yeah, mommy. There you go. So at first she might be irritated, but then it'll only take a little while and she'll be in love. She'll be like, whoa, Biscuit, you're so cool. I believe that dog's name at this point should be Biscuit now. It will be. There you go. Hey, P1 Crack Attack is the guy that wrote the text message that was talking about the song he's on the line. Are you there, Crack Attack? So you got to tell us, was that a, did you really mean it or was it a joke or what was going on there? Well, no, I listen to it every morning, and I was just curious if you guys have ever thought about changing it. Okay, but what I was wondering is, were you serious about the part that you said that you kind of get the feeling that we're sort of begging for listeners to listen? Well, kind of. I guess it's just the lyrics. Right, and so you were serious. Sky was right. You were serious. Sky is so serious.
Oh, and the Joker's here, too. That was really good. Too soon. Definitely too soon. No, we never considered the lyrics, and the song is not a personal plea for listeners to not leave us, for sure. But I like that, though. That's right. I guess the question was put there, just because I know you guys don't need listeners. Well, you always need listeners, but... You guys don't need to beg people to stay because the show's awesome. Right, right. No, the reason that I use that song is I thought it had a cool vibe. I thought it had a really cool vibe to it. Love the music to it. Ash, where is it? Can you put it on the board? Yes. I thought it had a really cool vibe to it. He's referring to the song that we play to start the show every morning. And it's by this old black dude named Buddy Guy. And it's called Baby Please Don't Leave Me. And it's a cool tune and it just had a really, it's what starts the movie Hustle and Flow. And I saw that movie and I was like, man, that song is bad. They're like in this old kind of low rider looking car and they play that song and they freeze the screen in a kind of 70s looking way. And the words Hustle and Flow come up on the screen in that sort of 70s font.
I always just thought that was really, really cool. This is it. Even that beginning's cool. Your name is P1 Crack Attack, right? Crack Attack, are you there? I'm still here. Here's my question for you. You're asking, will we ever change that? I wanted to let you know that one day we will, but it will freak people out. I totally agree. It will freak people out. There's a big segment of the audience. That is not cool with change. Sky's not cool with change. She doesn't like it. And it freaks people out when things are different. There are some people that that's the way they start their morning. Six o'clock, they know they're going to hear that song and they're like in a rhythm. And when it changes, you've changed their life and they don't like it. But eventually, you know, things have to be different. Well, I know that I drive to work every morning about six and I always hear it and it always pumps me up.
And then I hear the lyrics, and I'm always curious. There you go. I appreciate you answering the question, Mikey. Thank you, Crack Attack. Take care. There you go. Eddie, if they get rid of Giles, will they be 40-something million under budget? Under budget? I don't know what that means. I don't either. No. Maybe he's thinking that they're at budget right now, but he's costing them 40 million? I don't know. No. I mean, definitely not. Yeah. Mikey, bringing in the fences won't change a below 250 average. Petco's fences are only six feet farther than Yankee Stadium. Well, their big difference is San Diego has this little thing called a marine layer that knocks balls down. And so, you know, you go into any other stadium in the country and, you know, you hit balls where, you know, that end up as pop flies in San Diego.
that are home runs in any other park. And so, you know, it's real difficult. So there's no standard? Like, you would think the league would say, the fence has to be right here. No, no, no. I mean, look at Fenway Park. They have a giant, you know, wall up. That doesn't seem fair. The green monster sky. You ever hear of it? I'll tell you all about it later. Well, I know. I don't really care. You and me. No, I'm good. It's going to be great. Thank you. This next one, I do not understand. Eddie, explain this. Okay. Mikey, they did bring the fence in by 25 feet last year. Maybe we should just do what the Giants did and put the fence in 15 feet under the standard limit. I don't get any of that. Like this person saying, it's already been done. I'm like, huh? I didn't know that the fence was brought in. I'm not aware of that either. And second of all, well, the thing about the Giants is how can you bring it under the limit? Is that legal? 15 feet under the... What? I don't know. I'll have to do some research on that. Do not understand. Research fences. Hey, Oracle, how do you think my man Brock Lesnar will do tomorrow? Big fight tomorrow in the UFC? UFC tomorrow night? You know, it's weird with Brock Lesnar. Watching him in his first big UFC debut, he got caught. He dominated the fight against Frank Mir, and then Frank Mir just caught him with an ankle lock, and that was the end of the fight.
You know, because mixed martial arts is so different. I mean, it's not just one aspect you can be good at. You've got to be good at everything. You know, stand-up fighting on the ground, takedown defense, like everything. And Brock, hopefully this whole time, has been training on all that stuff. So, you know, the guy he's fighting is no joke. Keith Haring is a veteran. He's been around. He's won some big fights. So I really don't know what to expect with that guy tomorrow. It should be interesting. This isn't interesting. Text message. Mikey, John Moores doesn't put any money into the Padres because both he and his wife each want to keep the team in the divorce. There is no 50-50 in team ownership and divorces. P1 Nando. Okay. Which, if that's true, it makes sense. My wife wants the team. We're going through a divorce. We're fighting over the team. If she gets them, I'm not going to... put a bunch of money into it and a bunch of stuff into it. As soon as this is resolved, then Eddie's rolling his eyes. They haven't been going through a divorce for four or five years. This is only a recent thing, so that doesn't fly with me. Eddie, do you think Phillip Rivers will be allowed to throw the ball more this season? I don't feel like he didn't throw the ball, you know, like...
He threw the ball plenty, I thought, you know, in last season. But, I mean, will the offense continue to open up? Probably. They have more weapons. And Phillip has another year under his belt. And I think, you know, Nerv Turner will probably, you know, open up the offense a little bit more if that's what you're asking. Yeah, probably. Eddie, do we have time? Do we have time to start Battle of the Sexes? No, we can take a break and then come right back and do it. All right. Come back, start Battle of the Sexes. Restaurants on the run, bringing in some stuff today. Great show today. LaDainian Tomlinson will be on the show today, so will singer Chris Cornell? Text us, 35253. Call us, 570-1053. Did you know that if you slowed down just a little, you'd get better mileage? It's true. If you drove 55 mph on the highway instead of 65 mph, you could go about 30 to 60 more miles on a tank of gas. The girl team is Team Sass. The best. That's right. They are made up of Team Captain Chantel, Ashley, and Skye. Really? I almost called her Rob. Whoa, Rob. What happened? That's right. So, let's do this. We got to do a coin toss. We'll just let them. You're going to let them do it? We'll let them do whatever they want. Whatever they want. All right, ladies. Do I need handouts? Ladies. You do need handouts. No, we don't. Ladies, what would you like to do? Would you like to start first or would you like to defer to the men? We'll give it to them. You're going to give it to the guys. You're going to have the guys start. We'll start? Yeah, you start. Okay. You know, and I was thinking about this the other day. Eventually, the battle of the sexes has got to come to its conclusion. No. No, not until we're in the lead, Mike. That's right.
That's going to be about 50 years from now. Now, regardless of whether or not it is a mathematical impossibility, we are going to see this thing through its conclusion. If for no other reason, it's funny. And so we got to come up with what we're going to do to pay this sucker off. You see, the loser is going to have to do something. And I was thinking about it. I thought, why not just have it be, you know. Winner's choice. I love that idea, Mike. I think team choice is really truly what this is all about. I like that idea. That way you just get to pick. I hate that idea. You don't want to choose our punishment? No. You don't want to choose our punishment. It's not that. I'm just more scared of you choosing our punishment. I want the punishments to be equal, to be laid out beforehand. You can make me do anything. I don't care. Yeah, but here's the thing.
You don't want to turn it over to the listeners. It'll be worse. Listeners will make it much worse. We'll be respectful. That is good. Eddie, after saying that, instantly went into senior year portrait. Okay. Only the girls post like that. Eddie, that's a girl post. back of the palm up against the cheek. Now that's a baby pose. That's a child in 1940 listening to the radio. On the floor. Alright, well, Eddie, do you have any ideas? Do you have any... Wow, I'll have a conference with my cabinet members and we'll come up with something fun for the ladies if we win. I mean, who knows? Oh, this all sucks. It'll be fun. It'll be something fun. Well, let's do this. Let's start with the guys. Yeah. And Eddie, who would you like to lead off? I think I'll start today. It'll be you? Just for funsies. All right. Eddie, your question is, who's the model that stars in the reality show My Fair Brady? Who is the model that stars in the reality show My Fair Brady? Well, Mike, a little...
piece of trivia about this young woman. She was the very first America's Next Top Model. Has been on The Surreal Life before. Married Christopher Knight, a.k.a. Peter Brady. Alright, show off. Just the answer, please. Wow. I don't know, man. They are really going after it. My only issue is I believe her first name is Tricky. I don't know. I can't remember if it's pronounced one way or the other. So I'm not sure West Guy's laughing at that. Come on. I think it is Adrian Curry. That is correct, Eddie. Thank you. Great job. Great job. Adrian, Adrian, Adriana. I wasn't positive. Gonna bust your balls on pronunciation. Thank you. Breakfast. Now. Breakfast. I can't even. Breakfast. I can't even. Rob can't say breakfast. Breakfast. That's how everyone says it. He can't say it. Mike, it's a regional thing. That's right. It's not a regional thing. I mean, I said it when I was two. Not in this region. Okay. Now, this next thing that's about to happen is very important because Chantel.
As team captain gets to decide whether it will be her, Ashley, or Sky leading off. Now, the last few weeks that she's done this, she's always been about one person off. And if only she had picked someone else, it all would have worked out just perfectly. Now, Eddie is pointing to Ashley. Stop it. I'm not even going to go there. She's your MVP. Everybody relax. Chantel, you know what to do. I'm sweating. You know what to do, Chantel. What will Chantel do? Who will she select? Chantel is thinking. Yes, huh? I'm back. Who would you like to pick to lead you ladies off? Me. Wow. By the looks of it, Chantel, Chantel, by the looks of it, you made a wise choice. Okay. Oh, good. I do that from time to time. What's Magic Johnson's first name? Of course she does. Well, this is maybe the easiest question of all time. Now, I'll tell you why, too. What team did Magic Johnson play for? I mean, she wants to be a Laker girl. She's a former Charger girl. She's an incredible dancer. She's thinking about becoming a dancer for the Lakers. It's her favorite team. She's even wearing Laker colors right now in her baseball cap.
Got the longest gold baseball cap. I want to say Irvin Magic Johnson. I need an answer. I know I'm going to know it when I... You should be. That's a good thing. Oh, my gosh. My heart is... Oh, her heart's pounding. Irvin Magic Johnson. That is correct. Yay! That is correct, Chantel. You don't understand how... That really freaked her out. That really freaked her out. It took me a minute. How did it take her a minute, Eddie? I don't know, because I just call him Magic. Everybody's fine. Yeah, it all worked out for the best. We're all okay. Phil. I would never say Phil. Phil Magic Johnson. All right, Boston Rob, you are up. Let's go. I'm going to smile today. What are you on? Boston Rob? Yeah. Okay. Here's your question. Nicole Scherzinger. What? Nicole, New Jersey.
Nicole Scherzinger is the lead singer for what girl group? I'm just taking a stab. Hey, think about it. Relax. He just instantly wants to, which is so different for him because he either wants to give you an instant answer, which happens like once every nine months, or he wants to take like an hour. Well, I want to go with my, you know, first. Instinct? Instinct. What is wrong with you? Nicole Scherzinger is the lead singer for what girl group? I only know of one girl group. Whoa, wait a minute. There's only one girl group ever, ever, ever in the history of the world. Pretty poison, Mike. No, Warrant is the only girl group I've ever seen. Ah, now you're making me... I just want to say the Pussycat Dolls because that's all I know. But now... I like how Rob says something and then looks at you for a reaction. Well, Skye, let's go through all the girl groups at the ride. Let's not take an hour to answer the question. Let's not take an hour to answer it. Eddie just rolled his eyes. I'm more of a listener. I just want to go with the Pussycat Dolls. You are correct, Rob. You are correct.
You're correct. You're correct. Awesome. You're correct. The Bengals. Ashley. Oh, Ashley just got really scared. Like, why did you say my name? What did I do? Why do I have to play this game? You're next. Ashley, you're up. Come on. You got this. Part of Team Sass. Yeah, you got it. Here we go. Ashley, who is the much maligned and controversial owner of the Oakland? Raiders. Oh, no. The word was maligned. The word was maligned. That's right. That's the thing that threw her off. Ashley, not only that, but we've only talked about all the time. I mean, this is a name. This is not a name. Sky is looking at me. Sky's doing the look. It's my favorite look. Ashley? Yeah.
Who is the much maligned and controversial owner of the Oakland Raiders? No. Keep in mind, it's two to one right now. Nobody's gotten a question wrong yet. Oh, wow. Wow. Smarties. On Team Sass or Team Awesome. Everybody's answered their questions. This is really tough for me, Mike, because I'm... From the Bay Area. Oh, yeah. I wasn't going to say that, but yeah. I mean, literally, like, my brain is blank. There could be nine answers for this. Yes, please save that clip. It is. I got nothing. I don't know. You don't know. I have no idea. That will count against Team Sass. We would have accepted the Crypt Keeper. That is right. That would have been acceptable. No idea. The owner of the Oakland Raiders, Sky and Ashley, is Al Davis. Oh, don't act like you've never done that in your entire life. I'm just saying. I never have. Son of a... I would have guessed Jerry Brown, by the way, for the record. Hey, Zeth, are you able to answer that line that keeps ringing in there? I don't think so. I'm trying to figure it out. I don't know why that line keeps ringing, but there's an off line that we have that makes this big strobe light go off in the studio.
I don't know. You can't get it either, right, Ash? There's nothing in here. Let me just pick up all the lines and see what happens. I don't want to do that. Why are you taking this... Eddie, are you able to answer it on that side of the board? No. Phone. Yeah, I know. That's... That's what I know of. That's just a... I don't know who knows that phone number. Yeah, I don't know. That they're calling. Probably a wrong number. It's probably Paparazzi. Paparazzi right now in his car just looked at his car stereo and went, what? Let's see. Who's up? Sean is up. Oh, biggity boy. Oh, boy. Sean, your question is? Yeah, Mike. Okay. Your question is multiple choice. Oh, yes. I'll do my best. Oh, great. Here we go. Yes. Sean, what actress plays the character Serena Vanderwoodsen? Okay, don't make up names. We'll throw it. On the show, Gossip Girl. Holy cow.
I don't even know if I read that right, but I hope I did. I don't either. What actress plays the character Serena Van Der Woodsen? Serena Van Der Woodsen on the show Gossip Girl. Is it A, Blake Lively? Is it B, Leighton Meester? Or is it C, Audrey O'Day? I found that funny. know what part of that was funny, but okay. Alrighty. Okay. Wow, Sean really loved that. It wasn't a joke. It wasn't a question. Could I repeat it? Is that what he wants? Just B. What was B again? It really tickled him. When I said it, it just tickled him. B was Leighton Meester. Oh, wow. He loves that name. Oh, man. Oh, wow. Does he love that name? Wow. Listen to Sean. Calm down. Wow. Listen to Sean. Okay. You're crazy. All right, Mike. I am familiar with this show. Right. Oh, duh. You watched the entire television. You are? Wow. Wow.
Ashley's got her arms crossed. She's sitting back in her chair. She's so irritated at Sean. What have I done? I know. Sean instantly got that look like, what did I do? She's so irritated. I don't know, but she's got whatever body posture. I've never seen an episode. But he's never seen an episode. I've never seen an episode. But I am familiar with it. Okay. I don't know the answer. One out of three chance, though. What am I doing? Oh, come on now. This is going to take forever. Sean, is it A, Blake Lively, B, Leighton Meester, or C, Audrey O'Day? No, usually when you don't know the answer, you always go with B, so I'll go with B. It's your favorite. That is incorrect. Oh!
That is incorrect. The answer is A, Blake Lively. She's gorgeous. Yeah. She plays Serena Vanderwoodsen. Vanderwood. I'm making note of it. Sky. Yes, Mike. Savior. Please, everyone, please. Sky, your multiple choice question. Oh, hero of the day. Yes, Sky just looked happy. Let's all just calm down. Sky, your multiple choice question is. Yeah. In the movie The Godfather. Never seen. It is over. I have seen it and it's a very good film. Sean just saw it. Sean just saw it. Great movie. Skye, in the movie The Godfather, who played the part of Michael's girlfriend, Kay Adams? Was it A. Morgana King? Was it B. Shelley Duvall?
Or was it C, Diane Keaton? Okay. You got this. Yeah, I think I do have this. Well, I don't know. C, A is off the table because I've never heard of that person before. You've never heard of Morgana King? No. Okay. C, I don't believe it's C because, you know, I know Diane Keaton. You know, we've been longtime friends. Yeah, I mean, really, I know what kind of... How did you meet? What kind of project? How did you and Diane meet? Obviously Vons. I gotcha, gotcha. And I see what you're saying, Eddie, and it's not very nice. Obviously Vons. No, I said Vons. He said the same stylist. Same stylist? Oh, man. Yeah. Stop making that up. You don't think she... She's very old, Eddie. She's very old. She's very old. Absolutely. Just mean. So I will go with B, Mike. That is incorrect. Good guess. Thank you. That was a good guess. That was a terrible guess. No, she's a genius. Leave her alone. Diane Keaton was the woman that played K in The Godfather. But she never told me about it. It's okay. She never said a word, apparently, but...
Wow, it's as if you don't even know her at all now, Sky. I have to rethink the whole friendship. Ladies and gentlemen, the score is 2-1. Team Awesome. Eddie, we're not at a rave right now. Eddie's twirling his glow sticks. A very quick timeout, and we'll come back with round two. The show continues on The Rock. When it is raining, it is because he's thinking about something sad. All right, it's time to get back to Battle of the Sexes. And this is going to be pretty good because right now it is two to one. Fellas. Team Awesome is in the lead. Don't act like you didn't know. Yeah, Eddie, is this a strange place to find yourself in being in the lead here? No, it isn't, Mike. It's very familiar, but I was just not paying attention, and I didn't realize we were leading. Ah, well, then it's good that I was able to update. Yes, it is, in fact. You're full of it. You're really full of it right now. Skye's using a dirty finger on me. Skye's using a dirty finger on me. It's not me. We have guests in here. I don't appreciate that. It's very rude. Who knows? Maybe she was trying to wave, and it just came out a different way. Are you telling us Team Awesome's number one? I see. I doubt that. But we are. You're not. Yo, homie. Let's see. No, no, no. Actually, it will be. Yeah, it will be Eddie. It's me, dude. Eddie is up. You're so dumb. This is what we do. Eddie is up. Eddie, your chick question is, the way the battle of the sexes works is that we ask guys girl questions. Girls are ask guy questions. Your chick question is, a shoe with a short heel. An Achilles heel. Uh-oh. A shoe with a short heel, low cut front.
And usually no fastening is known as what? Eddie is measuring it out. He is using his hands for scale. He is trying to do the design with his hands. He is sort of designing. Okay, it would be like this. I'm getting that. I know this. This is where a heel is. Holy cow. Knit one, purl two. Knit one, purl two. There are very few types of women's shoes that I know the names for. I see. There's one that came to mind. I have no clue if it's correct. So I'm just going to say it. Don't laugh at me and don't judge me. Okay. Is it a pump? That is incorrect. I said don't do this. I said don't do this. I'm judging you. I said don't do this. I have never heard of this shoe in my life. Well, then come on. Mike doesn't even know. Is it a flip flop? It is not called a flip flop. You are even cuter than Eddie. And yes, Eddie. And yes, Eddie, I caught that you said, if Mike doesn't even know. You heard that? Which is pointing out that I'm very metro, yes. It is called a court shoe. A court shoe. It's a shoe with a short heel, low cut front, and usually no fastening. What is that? I'm trying to even picture what that looks like. Never heard of that in my entire life. Never heard of it. All right. Ladies, back to you.
Yeah, bring it on. Chantel. Come on, girl. Stop it. Chantel. And the movie Star Wars. Oh, no. Oh, come on. Are you serious or has to be a joke? Hold on. Why are you acting like this? Are you serious? It's your favorite movie. Are you serious right now? You're saying that like, oh, my God, I watch it every day, so this is going to be so easy. Well, I got to tell you. I mean, I'm reading this question. And to me, this question is like, what is two plus two? I mean, not to me. That's what it's like. But who knows? In Star Wars, what's the name of the bounty hunter hired by the Empire to track down Han Solo and Chewbacca? Wait, one more time again? Eddie's like offended by the easiness of this question. Are you serious? I've never seen Star Wars. Compare that to Courtshoe. Come on. Number one.
In Star Wars, what is the name of the bounty hunter hired by the Empire to track down Han Solo and Chewbacca? Han Solo and Gretel? What? Wow. I didn't get it. There's no multiple choice. This is not a multiple choice, nor does it need to be. Oh, come on. I need an A, B, C, or D. Come on. Eddie, you should IM me an A, B, C, or D. I have to give her multiple choice and the easiest question of all time. Yes. Every movie question gets a multiple choice. Is it A, futon? Okay. Whatever it is, I already love it. In the meantime, I'll ask the question again. Okay. As if it's going to make a difference. In Star Wars, what's the name of the bounty hunter hired by the Empire to track down Han Solo and Chewbacca? Was it...
A, Jango Fett. Was it B, Jabba the Hutt? Or was it C, Boba Fett? Jabba the Hutt. That sounds like a wrestler. Was it A, the listeners in the studio right now just put their face in their hands. I mean, I'm kind of even a little embarrassed right now. I'm sorry. I love you to death, but I'm a little bit embarrassed. I've never seen the movie. Was it a... Yeah, how is it? I don't know. I've never seen the movie. Whatever. Why would I watch that? No offense, Eddie. Eddie, no offense, she says. Eddie, calm down. You realize that's his favorite movie ever. Yeah, I completely realized it, but I said, no offense, Eddie. It looks ridiculous and boring, and I'll never watch it. Eddie just took his headphones off, and he looks like he's about to throw up. I think he might. Looks like he's going to throw up.
Yeah, he might get sick. I mean, I hate to add insult to injury, but if it was the last movie on Earth, I'd probably just switch to TV or never watch movies. I wouldn't even go there. Me too. That is so hurtful. I concur. Yeah. Eddie, Eddie. Family show, family show. She's an apple. Okay, calm down a little. In the movie Star Wars. Oh, yeah, back to me. Okay. Oh, yeah. What's the name of the bounty hunter hired by the Empire to track down Han Solo and Chewbacca? Was it A, Jango Fett, B, Jabba the Hutt, or C, Boba Fett? A. That is incorrect. Is it B? It's C. No, it's C. It's C. Sky knew it was Boba Fett. I don't know, Eddie. You and I are no longer friends. Boba is a drink you get with the little beef in it. Oh, it's delicious. What is going on? Ashley's up. That's what's going on. Ashley is up. Ashley. Sorry, sorry. I get the two of them confused. Back to the genius. Let's go bring it on. Boston, Rob, you get a multiple choice question. Yes. All right. Here we go. Okay. Blow that up. Blow it up. Rob, what cosmetics company uses the slogan, Because You're Worth It? We got kind of an annoyed series with that. Kind of an irritated look. What a stupid question. It's almost like he doesn't realize how Battle of the Sexes works, you know, when you first ask the question. Why would you ask me that, Mike? Mike, that's a question a girl would know. Why are you asking me? I'd like the Star Wars question, Mike.
What cosmetic company uses the slogan because you're worth it? Is it A, L'Oreal? Is it B, Maybelline? Or is it C, MAC? Is it A, L'Oreal? Is it B, Maybelline? Or is it C, MAC? I'm going to guess A. You are correct. I don't know, but the guys are leading three to one. It's over. I've never heard Because You're Worth It. Do they say it on TV or do they say it in print or where do they say Because You're Worth It? Boba Fett. Right? Please, let's not go back. We're going forward from here on out. Ashley has a mouth full of food. I think Mommy's hungry. When isn't Mommy hungry? I don't know, but Mommy's up. Here you go, Ash.
Delicious burrito. In automobiles, a MAF sensor measures what? In automobiles, a MAF sensor measures what? It's multiple choice. Oh. And what is that? MAF? What did you say? MAF. MAF. In automobiles, a MAF sensor measures what? Is it A, mass airflow? Is it B, mobile automatic flow? Or is it C, Morris airflow? Or excuse me, Morris Air Fuel. You know that threw me off, Mike. Eddie is using his headphone cord as a mustache and he's stroking it. Really weird. You're weird. Ashley. Stop lashing out at me. I'm sorry I don't like your stupid movies. You know what I'm called for? You know what I'm called for? You are a piece of garbage. That is right. Hey, that's not nice. Nothing personal. Okay.
Ashley, in automobiles, a math sensor measures what? Is it A, mass airflow, B, mobile automatic flow, or C, Morris air fuel? You are correct. Garbage a second ago. She's an idiot, but I love her. She's the only one on your team that does anything. The guys are leading right now, three to two. Sean is up. No worries, Sean. Sean, are you ready? Sean, are you ready? Yes, I am ready, Mike. Your question is... It's one of those. It's one of those days. Just work through it. Sean, what series of books about... It's weird when he does that, Sky. It's weird. It's just weird. I don't like when he does it. It's not necessary. It's weird.
Sean, what series of books about enchanted clothing was adapted into a 2005 movie starring America Ferrara? Sean, what series of books about enchanted clothing was adapted into a... Will you stop now? Yeah, we know he knows this one. See, yeah, the girls think that he knows the answer. Oh, right, because I read all those books about magic shirts. Well, I mean, he's... What are they talking about? Well, I don't know, but I mean, all I know is that Sean's gotten a lot of them wrong, and he, you know... Oh, come on. Sean, what series of books about enchanted clothing was adapted into a 2005 movie starring America Ferrara? Answer this question. You're just wrong. Oh, wow. That's offensive. Sean, you don't want to be wrong.
So, I would like you to think hard about this. Oh, he's got the big wide eyes. He's blinking a lot and he's shaking his head. Here we go. Don't know what that means. Here comes the answer. Sean, stop. Stop doing that. It's really creepy. You are so freaky. What are you doing? I'd love to see him right now and the face he's making. Well, it's freaky, Eddie. It's freaky now. Turn your head. Sean, I need an answer. Sean looks offended. I don't even know. She was in the movies? Like, all I know is that she's on television. Can I? I need just any answer then. I beg you. Mike, I believe she was in Ghost. Yes, he's right. He's right. I can't believe it. We win. He was not in Ghost. No. She was not in Ghost. Well, there was Enchanted Clothes in that movie. No, no, no, no.
No, the answer, Sean. Swayze's blouse? Yeah, no. The answer is the sisterhood of the traveling pants. I actually love you. So that means that if the girls get this next question right. Yeah, I don't care for this pressure. I don't care for it. Skye, if you get this right, then you're tied. Shut up, Eddie. You're tied. You knock it into a... Then it's Ashley's time. Yeah! No, no, no, no. Okay. Yeah, and then it goes to sudden death. Right. You guys remember what's happened in sudden death before. It's not going to happen this time. Well, when we've gone to sudden death before, Skye begs Ashley to not yell her name out unless she's absolutely certain she knows the answer. In fact, Skye has said, Ashley, don't say your name to buzz in unless you are 300%. Yes. And what happened?
Ashley yells her name out and doesn't know the answer. It's only happened three times. That is true. So, Sky, it's all on you. Sky, what NFL team won three Super Bowls in the 1990s? What NFL team won three Super Bowls in the 1990s? Eddie's mocking you. Eddie's tapping the index finger against it. The temple. Hmm, what could it be? What is it? Let me think about this one. She's got to know. The Denver Gold Rush. Edward, knock it off. Oh, goodness. I think of football teams that kind of, you know, had little dynasties going. I know the Niners did, but I think that was more in, like, the 80s. And then I know, like, the Cowboys did something. Oh, no.
Dallas. And the Lakers. In the 90s. No, the Chicago Bulls were very good. Can you give me a hint? When were the 90s? Right? The 90s was a very bad time for Mike. When were the 90s? Okay. I'll say Bill Clinton, Mike. I did a lot of damage to the brain cells in the 90s. Is it my two dads? He's out of control. Is it Nirvana? Color me bad. Are you guys having fun? The Mikey Show continues with Mikey. I consider myself the perfect Mexican. Wow. Eddie. I love Christmas. Problem admitting when I'm wrong. I'm just rarely wrong. Sean. You know, I'm really terrible at getting gifts. Yes. Boston Rob. Keeping it deep. That's what I'm doing. That sounded hard. And Ashley. I don't get along very well. I don't think with like... Normal, boring people. Oh, come on. Wait a minute. It's the Mikey Show on The Rock. It's the Mikey Show. It is 8.06. A little FYI, the DMV will no longer be open on Saturdays. The state budget crisis has forced the DMV to cancel their weekend hours. Wow. U.S. boxer Gary Russell collapses while trying to make weight and is out of the Olympics. Oh, wow. All right, ladies and gentlemen.
It is time to go to sudden elimination. It's always my favorite. Ashley. Ashley. Why are you guys saying Ashley's name? Because they want her to answer. I think we all do. If she knows the answer, then she should say her name. I agree with you. Ashley, you know what's up, right girl? A supportive team would say the same thing. You know what the deal is, right lady? She got an answer right already in the game. I'm asking her not to you. You're being unsupportive of your team. I'm just asking her if she knows the deal. Guys. If I know the answer. If she knows the answer. You guys. If she knows the answer. Only if she knows the answer. Only if she knows the correct answer. 300% Ash. Remember that. That's important. I'm not going to just yell it out all willy nilly. Hello. She wouldn't do that. Here is how.
Sudden death works. Okay. I am going to read you a question. You can interrupt me at any time, and you can give me the answer. However, if you give the wrong answer, the point goes to the other team, and they instantly win. That would happen? Eddie, it in fact has happened. Yeah, you've won a couple times that way, actually. A couple, yeah. He handed it to you. But I just want to let you know. Not to be afraid to yell your name out if you know the correct answer. You'll do, Mike. Hey, talking directly to Ashley. I know. Very unbiased. I don't understand why everybody's freaking out. Exactly. Everyone relax. It's fine. This is all fine. We're good. Yes. This is not fine. We're good. Here we go. Here we go. Yeah. The question is, on the back of a $1 bill, what is in the center? Sky. Oh, no.
Sky? That was bad. I'm sorry. It's about money. Yeah, I'm seeing, like... Sky, I need an answer. I need an answer. A pyramid with an I. That is incorrect, Sky. It is... The White House? No. Oh. It's the word. Giant word. One. Let me see. That's what it says. That's what it says. The pyramid with an I. In the center sky. The center sky. They're both on there, but it's not. Are you sure you said center? Are you positive? I said center. The way it was read is on the back of a $1 bill, what is in the center? Oh, I see it, Eddie. I know, Ashley. You're very disappointed. Eddie is showing it to Ash and to Chantel. We see it. Thank you. Well, there it is, folks. There was the instant elimination and the guys have won. The guys have won.
Remember, Ashley, don't answer. I don't know how to react to this. Well, it's all done. Why don't we just move on? Let's just move on. Are you sure? I think we need to talk this out. Eddie, what would you like to... Well, I don't want there to be hard feelings. I don't want to build up resentment. Oh, my gosh. How dare you? How dare she not? I want their team to be happy with... I mean, it's just, it's a simple concept in sudden death. If you know the answer, you yell at me. Chantel, but he's helped me from not freaking out right now. You shouldn't yell at me. It's fine. Because, Chantel, we wouldn't have even got to sudden death if it wasn't for me getting an answer right. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? The girls fight so much with each other. You know what I'm saying, Chantel? Yeah. I mean, I did it once, and she's done it three times, and she's coming after me. She's still got two on you. I know, I know, and she has the nerve to come after me. I'll tell you what. She just gets all upset a little bit. I'll tell you what. Thank you, Chantel. Ashley, Ashley.
Ashley, aren't you supposed to be 300% sure? Ladies and gentlemen, don't go away. When we come back, I am going to... You stay away, baby. I'm going to make the announcement about what Eddie and B-Rob will be doing next. Don't go away. Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. Yo, you don't even know what stupid it is. The Mikey Show is on. This text message says, Mikey, I was in the restroom. What just happened? Who messed things up? Must have been Ashley, right? She's usually the one. I don't know what we should do. Should we? Gotta tell them. Yeah, it was Sky said her name. Sky said her name. But she's the one that yells at Ashley. I've never yelled at Ashley. I've never screamed at her. For screwing it up. We talk like friends. At the top of your lungs. At the top of the lungs. Please. Let's see. Wow. Karma. What? You're so dumb. Welcome back to the show. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to make an official announcement. Yes!
As you know, Eddie and Boston Rob have been competing in challenges against one another for a very, very long time. In fact, I'd say this has been going on for well over a year. What is Boston Rob doing, Eddie? Cramped up in the neck. Oh, look at Eddie's doing his bodybuilding moves, poses. Oh, there it is. There it is. There it is. Boston Rob. That was intimidating. Yeah, that one got you to sit down. Thank you very much. Thank you, guys. Oh, wow. Ladies and gentlemen, in honor of the Olympics, starting today in China, Boston Rob will be competing with Eddie against each other in what will come out to be three different competitions. It's kind of like a special Olympics. That's right. However, it's going to be a little bit different. You see, you get to decide. You, as the listeners, get to go to MikeyShow.com right now and you get to decide what will they be competing in. Now, these are actual Olympic events and Eddie and B-Rob are going to be doing it. That's not going to be pretty. You just have to tell us which ones you want them to compete in. Here are your choices. Greco-Roman wrestling.
I already know what I'm voting for. You need to go no further, Mike. The javelin. That'll be fun. I will win. The shot put. What do I shot put, Rob? That's right. Rob will nestle in your little hand. The nook of my neck. You fire him off. Let's see. The 100 meter dash. That's not good for me. How about archery? I could give you guys tips. How about... Oh, that's right. We forgot. Sean just announced to us about a month ago, we had no idea. He used to compete in archery. So weird. He reveals things to us sometimes and we're like, what? Well, he was in the Mongolian dance street. Yeah, he was in a Mongolian dance street.
It was Ukrainian. He was in a Ukrainian dance troupe. That makes it better. And then the last two are the high jump and the long jump. No, I don't like this. Listeners vote. High jump? It's a high chair. What do you do when he needs a high chair? Wearing stilts? Or he can jump from the chair. Can I use a trampoline? Here's what we want you to do. We want you to go to MikeyShow.com. M-I-K-E-Y-S-H-O-W.com. Go to MikeyShow.com. And you can type in the keyword vote. If you want to, you can get to it by going to keyword vote. But basically, the top...
Three highest vote getters are going to be the competitions that Eddie and B-Rob will do. So on the day that we do this competition, it'll be three that you select P1s as you're listening. A P1 is a Mikey Show listener. So Greco-Roman wrestling, javelin, shot put, 100-meter dash, archery, high jump, and long jump. Skye, what would you, if it were you? Oh, I already voted. What's your three? What's your three? Oh, three? Well, it has to be the wrestling. I mean, duh. Greco-Roman wrestling. I mean, please. But Eddie outweighs and is bigger and stronger. Easily 100 pounds. I mean, how can they do that? To see these two rolling around together in their little outfits is... What do you mean little outfits? I mean, you can't pay enough for that. Well, you guys do have to wear Olympic outfits. What do you mean? Well, I mean... Like the wrestler ones where you can see your dog. Like a singlet? Yeah. What? No. You guys have to wear Olympic stuff. Usually that's a singlet. It's usually... It's like one of those things. It's like a bathing suit for men. It's like a one-piece bathing suit that women wear, but it's for men. Can I stuff it? Do whatever you want. Thanks, Mike. Do whatever you want. Okay, Eddie. First of all, there's no such thing. There's not? No, Sky.
There's no kielbasa store. Obviously, you haven't been to Hillcrest lately. That is weird. So, the events are Greco-Roman wrestling, javelin, shot put, 100 meter dash, archery, high jump, and long jump. Top three vote getters are going to be the events that Rob and Eddie competed. Can we just do the wrestling three times? No. I have a question. I have a question. I have a question. Out of those that I just named. Yeah. Wrestling, javelin, shot put, 100 meter dash, archery, high jump, long jump. Out of those, which does Rob stand a chance of beating Eddie in? The dash. The dash. The 100 meter dash. I'm fast. And archery. You're so dumb. Eddie is fast. And archery? Why not? But Rob, I know you've... Don't go into this pessimistically. You've never shot a bow and arrow. That's not the point. But he owns a slingshot, so. All right. And he does play darts. He's really good. Yeah. Well, there it is. Yeah, can we do darts? Yeah. And pool. Let me give you an update right now. Yeah, what do we got, Mike? In drinking. Right now. It's a good sport. Is panhandling an event? If things stay the way that they are now. Yeah, what do we got? Greco-Roman wrestling is a new brand. Duh. Duh. Duh.
Since right now, as I'm looking at the results of the vote, 46.3% have voted for Greco-Roman wrestling. That is sexy time right there. What else? Coming in number two, people would like to see Eddie and Boston Rob compete in archery. Okay, I think I got a chance. Dude, don't shoot at me though. Oh, then what do we shoot at? Yeah, like a target. It's like an old-fashioned duel. No, it's not. That would be rad. That's archery. 23.81% vote for archery. And then coming in next, 100-meter dash. Oh, okay, okay. So I have a chance here. I don't know. So the guy that wins two out of three wins the competition. I love it. I'm fine with those being the events. What would be the most hysterical to see them doing. I mean, take wrestling out of it. No, everything is wrestling. Well, hold on. I mean, him and I trying to do a high jump would be pretty bad. That would be pretty bad. That's where you got to jump over the bar. Yes. High jump would be hysterical. In dolphin shorts? Yes, like Richard Simmons.
I mean, picture them both dressed like Richard Simmons. Nice. In fact, maybe we can get them little afros or something. Yeah. Oh, hi. You're so teeny. It'd be fantastic. Aw. There it is. Cannot wait. Interesting. Talking to a friend, my wife's, and she was talking about how one time she went on a first date. And on this first date, she said that the guy told her the topic of kids came up. They're talking about kids. And he said, yeah, I can't see my kids because my wife and I are getting a divorce. And, well, I'm an exhibitionist. I got arrested and I can't see. And she was like, oh, and she didn't know what to do. She was like, she goes, first of all, she said, what is an expositionist? Well said. Ashley would like to know what an expositionist is.
That didn't just happen. Ash, it's an exhibitionist. I can't handle today. It's an exhibitionist, Ash. Usually that's somebody that will reveal themselves nude in public or something. Oh, geez. Yeah, now he did this. He told her. Appropriate. Yes, it is. Now he told her that he did this with the housekeeper. Oh. And my wife and I were like, you've got to be kidding me. This happened on a first date. And she said that she's sitting there. She's scared. She wants out of the date. Doesn't know what to do. Said, thank goodness they drove there separately. But it got us to thinking, what are some strange things that have happened to you on a first date, whether you are a guy or a girl? If you're a guy, what is something really weird that she did? And if you're a girl, what is something really weird that he did? Or what is something really weird that was revealed? First date revelations. Or they said, yeah, I just need to let you know I used to be a gal. You know, something weird. What is something that happened where you just, oh, wow, that is something I don't know that I wanted to know. Well, Mike, I got a couple. Oh, no. Eddie, what do you got?
On one, this has all happened on one date. So I got this gal and we were going to like a concert downtown. Not like a big venue, just like a bar concert. And in the car right over there, she reveals to me that she wants to be a stand-up comedian. Yeah. If you know Eddie, that is the opposite of a girl that Eddie would ever want to be with. There are very few women that are funny. Wow. It's true. You're funny. This is very funny. But there are very few women that are actually funny. There's a reason why stand-up comedians is a male-dominated thing. Sorry. No offense. Eddie, you're saying Paula Poundstone you don't like? Thank you. Point proven. So, she proceeds to start telling me this really long-winded joke.
I didn't even know when the punchline was, and she gave me one of these while I'm driving, the elbow to the side of, see, told you I was funny. No, no. I wanted to turn my car into oncoming traffic, knowing that I was going to have to spend the rest of my time with her. Do you know whatever became of her? Like, do you know? No, I was one and done. That was it. One and done. Well, because then we get to the concert, and I'm sitting there enjoying the band, having a nice time. I look over at her, and she looks like she's going to pass out. And I'm like, holy cow. And I say to her, are you okay? And she goes, no. Can we go back further? And I'm like, huh? Yeah, sure. And it wasn't like a loud, it wasn't a rock band. It was like a ska band. So it wasn't anything crazy. So we go to the back of the place and go, what's up? And she goes, oh, nothing. I just got like this inner ear thing that makes me want to pass out when I hear things too loud. And I said, all right, well, let's go. And we left. And that was the end of the date. But she was crazy.
She was crazy. 570-1053. Weird date, first date stuff. But she had an inner ear problem. Why does that make her crazy? Who has that? An inner ear problem that makes you pass out? Have you ever heard of Vertigo? It's a movie with Jamie Stewart. Yeah, I've heard of it. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. 570-1053. Text number is 35253. Sky, you ever have any? Well, I mean, it wasn't really a revelation, but I had a first date. I was nine years old, man. Will you shut up? I had a first date. I was 12. where I was being hooked up by a girlfriend. This was in high school, and she told me about the guy, and I'm like, oh, yeah, I know who that is. Well, I was picturing his older brother and didn't realize that it was the younger brother until I showed up on the date. Oh, that's not good. But I didn't say anything because, I mean, what do you say? Because, hey, free meal.
We didn't go out to dinner, clown. We just made love. We just started doing it. Again, I was nine. 570-1053 is our phone number. I will not high five you. Our text number is 35253. And I'm guessing that this is probably going to be a lot more girls than guys. Yeah. Because guys are weirder. Well, guys are weirder. Oh, yeah, that's what I meant. Guys do weird, weird stuff. Right. Not the smoothest characters. No, definitely not. Definitely not. Let's see. Line four, we have P1 Spanky. Hi, Spanky. Uh-oh. Hi, how you doing? Good, man. Hey, love the show. Thank you. You guys are the best. Yeah, so you want me to just jump right into it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, get into it. Yo, tell us a little bit about your life. Yeah. So I met this girl in a bar and... That was our introduction. But then our first date, I went over to her house. She wanted to introduce me to her parents. Uh-huh. And her dad, her dad asked me if I'd give him a hand with something. This is like about an hour into it. I'm dressed like kind of Sunday clothes, wanted to look nice. Uh-huh. So I go outside with him, and he gives me a pair of work gloves. Yeah. Right? And he asked me to follow him, and he's driving a tractor. And behind the tractor is a big trailer. Yeah.
And I'm walking behind him in the field, and I have to pick up full bales of hay and throw them into the back of his trailer. And we did it for, like, two hours. Oh, my goodness. Actually, you know what? No, he had to go up, because I remember my hands were all bloody. I was covered with, like, hay and sweat. And that was my date. And we went back in, and I was exhausted, and we pretty much, I just left. You never, so you guys never went out that night? No, it was like during the day. She invited me over for lunch to meet her parents. Okay, wait. Question, question. Did you and her discuss what her father had you do? No, before I went out, she kind of said, like, Dad, no, don't, or something like that. But it came out of nowhere. Okay, so when he's saying, hey, let's go do this, she's like, no, Dad, come on. Yes, exactly. Was he like putting you through a test or something? I really don't know. He didn't really say much. He just asked me if I'd help him out. And then after that, he just kind of left us alone. We watched TV a little bit. And then I never called her again.
And you never went out again. Yeah, his dad scared you off. Oh, that's what my mom does that all the time. I think maybe he was just testing me, I guess. Wait, Scott. Did you drive the tractor? Yeah, my mom drives the tractor, and she picks up the bills and pay. What do you mean your mom does that all the time? Like, when I was younger, she would tell me, invite all your friends over for a pizza party. I was like, oh my gosh, awesome. All the friends come over. Okay, kids, the pizza's going to be here in about an hour, so. For the next hour, just go out in the back and pull the weeds. No. Yeah. And, like, my husband, my poor husband. False advertising. My husband is an angel because, you know, my mom has him on speed dial. You mean now? Oh, now. And, I mean, from the first second she met him and found out he was handy. It's, like, immediate. And she, like, loans him out to her friends. Oh, no, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. When we were in Denver, the husband was over there. Now, how come you don't put the kibosh on her and say, my, leave him alone?
I mean, what am I going to say? It's my mom. You're going to say, Mom, leave him alone. Yeah, Ma, leave him alone. I don't know. I mean, she's been like this forever since we were kids. So it's like I just kind of accept it now. And when the friends would have to go in the back and pull weeds, there was no saying to her, Mom. Oh, yeah, I tried. Mom. Mom. Mom. Yeah, like, Mom, this is so embarrassing. You know, you said we were going to have a pizza party. We will have a pizza party. Mom, stop having friends pull weeds. Please stop having my friends pull the weeds. Yeah, that's Skinner. Let's see. P1 Second Degree is on the line. And P1 Second Degree. Good morning, Mike and Joe. Why Second Degree? I don't understand. Why do you go by P1 Second Degree? Well, I'm like someone else on the show. I'm slightly susceptible to the pun. Oh, fair skin. Oh, that's what you meant. Yep, I feel ya. You know the cure-all. Yep, Sky wants... Unlike the same person on the show, I've refrained from the urine. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sky had a second-degree sunburn. That sounds like a pretty serious topic. Well, third-degree would have been really bad. Fatal. Yeah, fatal. But Sky had what she termed a second-degree.
So there were like blisters and welts and things? My doctor termed in that. Thank you. No? There were no blisters or welts. That doesn't sound right, Mike. Does that make sense? But she had her mom come get her. From the hospital? This isn't the topic. No. I'm just for new listeners. Shush. You heard this morning. There's quite a few people that are new, and I don't even know what he's talking about. Oh, my God. I mean, how many lies can one person tell in a day? I mean, shouldn't there be a limit? She was out of control. We were at work, and Skye came in, and she was carrying on, you know? And she was saying... Carrying on? No, she was... By the way, I was carrying on. Skye was... Yeah. I believe it. Yeah. Some people would call it crying. Other people would refer to it as carrying on. Well, what I thought was that she had stepped on a landmine. Basically, one exploded on my back. Oh, my. How dare you? You don't know.
Hey, until you experience it, you don't know. Yeah, I've had a sunburn before. It wasn't a normal sunburn. Hurts a little. How many times do I have to tell you? I was on medication that said not to go in the sun. You were on birth control pills. That said not to go in the sun. What, do you not need a prescription for that? Do they sell those on the street corner? Well, Rob knows out of his car, but this is a whole other story. Totally different. Makes a run to teal lawn every month. Can we please just get back to the topic? Ortho-tricycling, anyone? Well, I got your ortho-tricycling here. Just stay out of the sun. Yeah, I just give a verbal warning. That's right. Who wants the sponge? Okay, all right. Thank you. So, anyway. She got sunburned. Her mom picked her up. Hey, we're not telling a story. She got a sunburn. Her mom came to the station, picked her up. Why didn't she just drive home? Because she felt she couldn't drive. I couldn't. Yes, Eddie. Yes. Yes, from a sunburn. Yes. Her mom. If you guys were there, you wouldn't laugh at this. Oh, really?
I was in such pain. Reenactment. It was brutal. Skye, who was a PD at the time? Do you remember? Wasn't it that handsome guy? Smiley? Smiley? I don't remember anybody's real name. Was it Smiley? Just what we used to call him, yeah. Was that Keith? Was Smiley's real name Keith? Was it him? I don't know. I think you're right. It might have been him. I think you're right. But, you know, we were right about to go on the air because I did the afternoon show. And Skye came into the studio that I was doing production at the time sobbing. Oh. Was she carrying on? Skye, there are people that don't know this story. And so her mom came and got her and took her home and fine. That's it. the story. And again, she was 13 at the time, 14? No, no, no. You forget to mention I was on medication that said not show in the sun. I had a crazy sunburn and then it got re-exposed to the sun and then that's when it inflamed and started pinching the nerves in my back and that was the pain shooting up my back that was making me cry and making me feel like I couldn't drive. So mother came and retrieved me. Well, she was nearby.
Why would I risk other people's lives on the road by me driving in that state if she's close by? She's very dramatic. She's close by. She's very dramatic. She's a considerate person, Eddie, and I don't know why you don't see that. Thank you, Ashley. It wasn't worth it. Basically, that's the end of the story. Her mom picked her up and took her home, and that was that. Really? That's it? That's all? Thank you, Mike. Now to the phone calls. Like, how did she get better? To the phone. Does anyone know this story here? Mike, everyone knows this story. Let's move along. Everyone knows this story. You're boring people. Back to the phones. Thank you. Her mom put urine on the... Son of a... It's true. The Kaiser advised us. That's a true story. Kaiser recommended it. Kaiser recommended it. She says they called a helpline and there's a stingray on her back. Hey, hey. Supposed to pull the sting out, bro. That's why they do it safer. Like jellyfish? No. Anybody? It's fantastic. Has anyone seen the Friends episode? It's okay. Monica. It's a little different. You're a little different. Jellyfish. 570. Sting is sting, bro. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. We're talking about. It didn't work, by the way. No one ever do that. Oh, it didn't? No. It did not work. It was done with a 7-Eleven cup. Oh, what? Right?
Plastic? The plastic? Yes, Mike. Was it a pickle? I mean, would it have been better if it was a different cup? Like, would that have made a difference to you? Maybe a little bit more sanitary. Well, what about, like, a spray bottle or something? Whatever, like... No, no. Is that ridiculous? Well, that would have... That's what I would have done. But then you ruin a perfectly good spray bottle. All right, we'll be back. I mean, I listen six days a week. You guys are awesome. Appreciate it, bro. Thank you. All right, Lynn. Turn me on the stage. Hello, my name is Luis, and I'm here to confess a really bad habit. Hang on. Hello? Hey, what's going on? Okay, I'll talk to you soon. I didn't even realize I had a bad habit until... Hang on. Hello? Yo, amigo! ¿Qué pasa, man? Sure! You got it.
I didn't know I had a bad habit until this guy approached me in a bar and said, You know, that's a bad habit. What's a bad habit? Hang on. What? No, it's not raining here. Sorry, you were telling me. What's a bad habit? It's obvious. Drinking that light beer. Try Tecate Light. It tastes like real cerveza. So I tried Tecate Light. And after one drink, I broke my bad habit of drinking flavorless light beer. It feels good to now be bad habit free. Hang on. Hello? Hey. What's going on? Break the habit. Try Tecate Light. For those who want more. Responsible drinking is a good habit. Imported by Cervezas Mexicanas White Plains New York. Hello? Is this on? Yes, it actually is on, Eddie. Sky, here's a question that's never been asked about your sunburn story. Did you have a good pair of sunglasses on at the time? Well, I actually didn't, Eddie. See? If you would have gone to Sunglass and Optical Warehouse, you would have probably prevented that second-degree sunburn. But the sunburn was on my back. Think about it. But the sunburn was on my back and the sunglasses go on your face.

Hey, Brett, are you a traitor? I'm not a traitor. Never will be. It's business. That's the way it works. I gave everything I possibly could give while I was there. And I don't think people would question that. And I hope that the Jets fans...
See the same thing. It's going to be so weird to see him in a Jet uniform. That's going to be the craziest thing ever. The uniform's already selling out. Number four Jet jersey is going off the hook. LaDainian Tomlinson still to come on the mic. Mirror moments. Awesome. This is exciting. And Chris Cornell will also be joining us on the show today. I consider Chris Cornell to maybe be the best male vocalist ever. Have you ever actually said that to him? I don't know. I don't think you have. I don't know. He's been on the show a couple times. I bet you he would think that's pretty cool. Yeah. And also tell him you think he's really hot. Probably won't tell him that. Oh, weird. Okay. Probably won't tell him that. You're all insecure and stuff. Ash. Ash. Ash. Oh. Oh, boy. It's hard to get her attention sometimes. What is she doing? You were screaming her name. He's just calling to talk about the season, right? Yeah. Okay. Very cool. Sure. He's got some thoughts on Mr. Brett Favre. Absolutely. Oh. Absolutely. So, we'll be talking to LT here in just a second.
In the meantime, you can call us at 570-1053. You can text us at 35253. The topic is really weird first dates. So if you had a really weird first date, we want to hear from you. We will take your phone calls on it in just a second. We're going to have LT. We've got thumbs up. We're going to be talking to LT. LT's a good dude. I was explaining to my brother who doesn't watch sports about LT how lucky we are to have him here in San Diego. LaDainian Tomlinson. Hey. How are you? What's going on? Going good. Not too much. Are you at the facility right now, Charger facility? Yeah. Yeah, I'm at the complex right now. And LaDainian, what season is this for you? How many seasons have you been in the league? This is your eighth season? Wow. It seems like it's just yesterday, but eight seasons already. Yeah, it go by fast.
You know, you just, during the season, it seemed like, you know, they don't go by too fast. And it's a long journey. But you look back after the season, and there's another one gone. But, yeah, it's been eight good seasons. Seven good seasons. Eight coming into this year. The last time that you were in the studio, I was talking to you about food. And when you had your time off here, Were you able to go home and have your mom make something smothered? Of course she did. You know, so that's always a must when I go home. You said that's your favorite thing is anything smothered. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So let me ask you, LT. Are you headed into the season with a little bit of a chip on your shoulder the way that the season ended? Or how are you feeling going into this season? Well, I'm feeling great. You know, I think, you know, we've got an excellent team here and really got a lot of depth. And, you know, each year is a different year, though. And really and truly, the thing that we'll talk about is, you know, people always talk about how much talent we have on this team. You know, talent is only one thing. And, you know, so we don't really look at it like we have
the best talent on the team. That's what you do with the talent. You still got to go out there and perform. And I think the guys are ready to do that, you know, with the way we work and practice. And we've been working pretty hard. We're tired of hitting on each other, so it's time to go hit somebody else. But I'm feeling good about this year. I'm back to being 100%, so I'm excited about that. And just can't wait to get to that first game. We're talking to LaDamian Tomlinson. LT, do you ever dream about the game? You mean just the football in general? Yeah, do you ever dream about you being on the field and actually in a game? Oh, yeah, because most people have work dreams. Yeah, work dreams. A lot of people have work dreams. Right, where you're running, but you're not moving. Yeah. Yeah, every once in a while, I have those type of dreams. I dream about it when I'm not playing. It's not during the season or the season is nearing. You know, so football is on my mind a lot. And that's usually when I dream about football. Wow. Well, you know, Miles McPherson was telling a story recently about how badly you burned him on the field. He said that he was getting to...
cover you, and he used that term loosely, that he was covering you, and he did that loosely, but he says that you scored on him, and he won't forget it. Well, I mean, Miles has been a little generous, but, you know, actually, you know, he's moving pretty good for his age. I was really surprised, you know, that he moved that well, but, you know, he seems to still be in good shape. That is so funny. And I don't applaud myself for being an older gentleman. I love it. That is the best. That is the best. LT, is there a TV show that's must-watch for you? You don't miss it week in and week out? You know... Grey's Anatomy is something that my wife and I watch together. Wow. Grey's Anatomy. L.T., come on, we're on the radio here, buddy. Ask him a question. Ask him a question, Ash. Give him Grey's Anatomy. Talk a little Grey's with L.T. Well, sure. So I'm assuming you've seen all seasons. Do you kind of feel that it's been getting a little bit sticky and cheesy this past season and isn't as strong as maybe the first or second season? Well, see, that's the thing.
I missed a lot of that first season. And so, you know, that's what my wife was saying. As we watched it, she was like, ooh, last season was so much better. And I thought this season, I'm like, man, it's still pretty good to me. I have no idea what happened the first season or whatever. You've got to get the DVD. Yeah, Ash says you got to get the DVD. It's crazy, LT. You would freak out. If you like the season you saw, season one, well, I mean, you'll go bananas. You think the Super Bowl's cool? Wait till you see season one. Okay, that's the best. Okay, we got a weird question for you, LT. You know what the Madden curse is. Would you ever be on the cover of a Madden game? Yeah, I mean, I can't say that. Don't. Please don't, LT. We don't want you to. I don't believe in, you know, superstition. No. You don't believe in it. Eddie, Eddie, you got a question. Well, first of all, don't ever do it, LT. Please, please. And speaking of Madden Curse, I don't know if you've heard this. This is kind of a small story, but have you heard of this thing with Brett Favre? Oh, right?
I don't know. Do you know what's going on with that guy? There's a little story. It's weird because he hasn't been in the news. That's the thing. You never hear about the guy. Back page of the UT maybe. But here's the deal, LT. Just FYI. He got traded from the Packers to the Jets. This is crazy. Give me, please, a brief. thought on what is going on with Brett? You know, man. Oh, wow. More lengthy. Wow. You know, it's so hard, you know, to briefly say what's going on with him. But, you know, I said from the beginning, you know, my thought, now that this whole deal seems like it's come to a conclusion, I think what happened was, now after the season, you have exit meetings. And you talk to, you know, the coach and you talk to the general manager sometimes about the future of the team and where you want to go from here and all this kind of stuff. So I think at the end of last season, when they talked to Brett, Brett said, they said, Brett, where are you? You know, are you going to come back? And he said, well, you know, I really don't know. I'm kind of thinking about retirement.
Now, I believe that they told him, well, Brett, you know, we're kind of ready to move on with Aaron Rodgers. He's been in this league. We drafted him. You know, we're kind of ready to see if he's going to be our future quarterback. We know you're only going to play one or two more years. And at that point, Brett was like, okay, well, you know, I'll let you know what I want to do either way. You know, I still got two years on my contract. So I think they kind of pushed him out the door right away. And he kind of agreed, okay, I'll retire, no problem. But then as the season started to come, you know, he got the itch and he wanted to come back. And so at that time, Dad said, well, you already retired and we're ready to move on with Aaron Rodgers. And so that's when the whole controversy started. You know, and then, you know, I think some things were said between both sides that you really can't get over it. And Brett was ready to move on. It's just a shame that it ended like that. I mean, look at all the good times that they had together, Brett and the Green Bay Packers, and that that's the way it ended. And it's so weird for people to think of number four being in a different uniform. Yeah, no question. I agree. I definitely agree. But, you know, one thing for me, and I think sometimes as fans, and I say as fans like...
I'm part of it. I am a fan of the game, even though I play. But I've always been a fan, I can recall, before I even got into the league. I was so emotionally involved with my favorite team. And so, you know, sometimes I think as fans and stuff, we don't understand the inside of it, you know, what's going on. But, you know, I think at some point, We always want to see the players stay with their team. But at some point it happens. Unfortunately, it happens to some of the greatest players of all time. The organization at some point doesn't want them anymore, and they're ready to move on because of the stereotype of age. They have it in their mind that when you get a certain age, you can't play anymore, and you just can't be effective. And there's a young guy that's going to come along that should be eventually better than you and cheaper than you. How will you deal with that, LT? Like, as you start to get, right now you're still young, but as you're getting older, I'm sure you've thought about it and what you will do in your future. Please don't leave. Please don't leave. What will you, as you're getting older, how will you know? Well, I think you just kind of get a feel for, you know, not only yourself and what you're feeling, but you get a sense of,
organization and where they want to head and their plans, the way they want to use you going forward. So I think at that point, that's when you make a decision on your future was to, you know, stay here or retire or move on, you know. And unfortunately, that's something that happened to Junior Seah, you know, who was here and he came to that point. And I thought he would never leave. I said, Junior, there's no way he would ever leave. You know, and then the day came, and I was just shocked as anybody else. But it happened. I got a question, LT. I'm not retired! Oh, there he is. There he is. Question, LT. So let's pretend that we are playing fantasy football together, and you're picking second. And... I'm picking first, and I select LaDainian Tomlinson, running back, San Diego Chargers. Oh, wow. Okay, I'll put it on the board. All right, and so LT is second. Who do you select? There's three choices for me that I'm probably going to have to flip a coin or find a way to pick them. One would be Brian Westbrook. One would be Adrian Peterson. Another one would be Steven Jackson.
And the reason why I said it is because you look at all three of them guys, two of them, Stephen Jackson and Brian Westbrook, can really do a lot of different things. They can score running the football, catching the ball, and they're used a lot in their way and really don't have a steady backup where they're going to be taking a lot of care. Adrian Peterson, you know, even though he has a steady backup and he may take some to carry, what he does in the running game with that running game, with that offensive line, can put him in contention of being the guy that scores a lot of points for you. And so that would be a decision, you know, between them three guys that I would take. That's cool. That's a cool thing to get to hear from you. All right, listen, LT, the Chargers and the Cowboys tomorrow night at the Q. Coverage begins on Rock 105.3 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Are you going to play at all tomorrow, LT, or are you doing the usual preseason thing? I'll be watching the game just like you guys. There you go. There you go. And, LT, it's always fun. Every time we talk to you, we have a good time. He's a gentleman, Mike. He is. He is a gentleman. Thank you. We appreciate it, LT. Stay healthy, bro.
Absolutely, man. Y'all take care. Watch season one of Grey's Anatomy, Ashley. All right, we'll see you later, LT. He's a good dude. I always love talking to him. We're getting a lot of the weird first date text messages and phone calls. Mikey, this is P1 Danielle. The date wasn't bad. We went to Cold Stone. It was great. Talked outside till 11 o'clock at night. The weird thing was, after we left, my ex called and said that he was watching the whole time. This is a little bit weird. Mikey, on the first date, the girl that I went on the date with brought her father with her. And her father decided to ask me to take a home drug test. And so we went into the bathroom at Starbucks and I gave him the test. That's crazy. That can't be true. That's crazy. Please, that can't be true. Maybe you like the girl a lot. Guy wanted to know. Are you a drug user or not a drug user? Wow. Let's see. Mikey, on the first date that I went on, five minutes into the date, the guy wanted me to run his new business. He also asked if he could take me to Europe and meet his sister. I couldn't even remember his last name. Mikey, I was on a date once where the guy tried to feed me.
That's a good move. That is so uncomfortable. Can you imagine? Whoever does that is a monster. Skye, Eddie does that with you all the time. And she loves it. No, I hate it. I always finally end up giving in and then he gets food all over me. That's so true. It's not complicated. I mean, you open your mouth, food goes in. Why do you get a piece of cake on my face? Why is there cake on my face? I don't know. You guys are like Sonny and Cher. What? I'm Cher. Obviously. This is the Mikey Show. Hey, I love the Mikey Show. You know what? You guys are awesome. Well, that Southbound 15 just straightened itself right out, I'll tell you. It was the only slow freeway in town today. Southbound 63, though, we're seeing a bit of slowing now. Coming off the eight freeways, you make your way up the hill into Balboa Park. Other area freeways, again, up to speed, moving right along. Let's see. Yep, East Pound 94 at Lemon Grove Avenue. There was a solo crash, but on the center divide, not bothering anybody. I'm John Monte with traffic on Rock 105.3. From the Cricket Wireless Studios. Wow, it sounds like a magical place. I mean, this is, you know, I thought you were describing Disneyland. KC. San Diego's Rock. Something you may have missed this morning on the Mikey Show. Boston, Rob? Yeah. Okay. Here's your question. Nicole Scherzinger. What?
Nicole, New Jersey. Nicole. Yes. Nicole Scherzinger is the lead singer for what girl group? I only know of one girl group. Whoa, wait a minute. No, I know. Ever, ever, ever in the history of the world. Played it, Mike. Yeah. The Mikey Show continues on the rock. It's a Mikey Show. It is 9-19. Singer Jewel married her cowboy boyfriend of 10 years in the Bahamas yesterday. Casey. What was it? The Jets trade for Brett Favre and then promptly released their other starting quarterback, Chad Pennington. Thank you to Restaurants on the Run who provided food for our guests today. R-O-T-R dot com. And they obviously also do dessert. Right, Rob? Well, yeah. Rob. Rob stole. Wait. Yeah. All of them. Stolled? Yeah. All of them. What is the word? Stoll or stole? Who cares? He's a thief. He stole all the cookies. Eddie did the, what do you call it? The diversion. The diversion. Yeah. Eddie did the diversion. Yeah. And then Rob went over. Excuse me, sir. Yes. I was just doing a dance in the corner. I don't know what Rob was doing. That's weird in itself. But you kept saying, everyone look over here. Don't look over there. Don't you want to see my dance that I worked on for hours? For hours. I loved it. I loved it. It was cute. I don't recall it. I can't let anybody appreciate the dance. These are really good cookies. Let's see. Brett Favre officially a New York Jet. So weird. What the hell is Brett Favre doing here? I'm in town to play the Dolphins, you dumbass. From the movie, Something About Mary. Please. Let's see. Favre. Brett Favre. Was Brett Favre talking about what kind of shape he's in? Cut seven. I hope that I play at the level that I've always played at. There's no guarantees. There's never been any guarantees from me. The game of football is just that. It's a game of football, and anything can happen. But I hope to bring the leadership.
Durability. I'm a little bit out of shape compared to all the other guys, but I'm so excited about this opportunity. And he loves Brett Favre. Yeah, I mean. He loves that Brett Favre. So good with the, you know, he's got the 5 o'clock shadow and you get a little bit of gray in there. So distinguished. So distinguished. Very distinguished. So Sean had another experience with his friend at the 7-Eleven. It was a close call, Mike. A friend with no name? Yes. Sean does not know his name, but they are friends. We're supposed to meet in Tahoe, and the guy stiffed him. Never called. But Sean said that he went in there, and the guy said to him, I brought you some food today. Well, Sean is a germaphobe, and so it really freaked him out when the guy said, I brought you some food today. But it turned out that it was a...
package of Indian sweets. Oh, like a prepackaged? That's just weird in itself. Right, Sean? It was Indian sweets, but the thing is is that it came from this Indian sweet shop. New deli? That Sean and his wife already frequent. Of course they do. Have you had it? weird. But, Eddie, this is the weird thing. He acted like he'd never had it before. Why? I want to make the guy feel bad. I don't want to go, oh, yeah, I've had these before. Thanks, bro. No, no, no, no. But that's a cool bonding thing. Why not just say, I've never had it before. Or I've had it before. Yeah, why not say that? That did not occur to me. Well, that's so funny. The only thing that occurred to him was... Well, I just, I thought...
I could either say, oh, yeah, I've had these before. Thanks. Or I could say, oh, you wouldn't have to say it like that. You say, oh, these are yummy. I wouldn't say it like that. No, you're right. I wouldn't say it like that. But I thought it would be nicer just to kind of play along and go, oh, thanks. These are great. Yeah. The interesting thing about Sean is as much as he hates our listeners in his everyday life, he's a people pleaser. Yes. That is 100% true. It's ironic. It is ironic. It's what makes him creepy. Wait, Eddie, are you going to say like endearing? No, Eddie decided I'm creepy. That didn't come to mind. Oh, okay. Shoot. Sorry. So Ashley got her new cell phone yesterday. She was trying out her Bluetooth on her mom. Here, I'll read you from her. Oh, no. From her email about her day. First, she says. Finally got a new cell phone and yesterday was trying out my Bluetooth on my mom. She didn't know who I was. She couldn't hear me. This is really bad. She says it was pretty rough. It was bad. She says my boyfriend Mark and my... Mark, oh my goodness. Mark, I love you so much. If you ask me to marry you, I'll say yes to you.
Mark, is it clear what would happen if you asked? I love you. It's not you, it's me. Wait, I think you didn't say that. I have your kids. She says, Mark and my friend Kaylee both make massive fun of me with my Bluetooth. I don't know, man. Not too sure about this. It's been rough, Eddie. Talking about a Bluetooth device. What's the problem? It kind of sticks in your ear, right? really tricky contraption. I don't know if you guys are, like, in on this. Well, none of us can use, none of us can use our phones. You know, we gotta use hands-free. Everybody in the state of California. I don't know if you're, like, with the times and, like, using the Bluetooth, but this thing's supposed to be so cool, and... You just don't like it. It's tough, Mike. I mean, I put it on, and this is literally what I'll do. Like, I called my mom last night, and the first thing I have to say is I'll be like, Mom? I just need Rob, too. And, like, Rob couldn't even hear me. I'm like, hey! I'm in my car. I'm on my Bluetooth. Can you hear me? I'm on my Bluetooth because I'm in my car. Can you hear me? And they can't? They can't hear you? And my mom goes, how is this? How is this? Why does your mom talk like that? Oh, that's how my mom talks, by the way. I'm not joking. Yeah. How is this? She's already hard of hearing. Like a hundred-year-old southern woman? Yeah, really weird. She's already hard of hearing as is. She wears hearing aids. Yeah. So this is like.
A lost cause. Who's Stish? Yes, eh? Her mother is Humphrey Bogart. Is this my daughter, say? I kid you not. Sarah? Sarah? Sarah? I don't like you anymore. Sounds like you're hungry. And by the way, Mark, if you're a listener, if you ask her, she'll say yes. I'm kind of over it. Yeah. Eddie has been very busy moving. Had a guy come over to measure the window for blinds yesterday at 4 o'clock. Didn't leave till 7. Well, first of all, he was there late, wasn't he, Eddie? I have had curse on me. I don't know. Nothing has been easy about this house. No. I love it. I just want to enjoy it. Right? Just small little things, you know? Master bedroom needs blinds. They had drapes before. They took the drapes. We decided to go with blinds. They'll call the place and say, all right, we'll make an appointment at 4 o'clock, no problem. 4.30 rolls around. He calls and says, I'm about 20 minutes away. No. But you said, forget it. Okay, no problem. Gets there. Goes and measures. It takes him.
Literally five minutes to measure the windows. I'm like, cool. Because it's just the master. Yeah. The rest of the house is already good. There's like one, two, three, four windows. Okay. Awesome. Pretty easy. Right. We go downstairs. I figure he's going to give me a little estimate and we're done. Nice. He then pulls out two giant bags and shows me every blind made to man. Oh, dude. And I'm like, dude, I know exactly what I want. You see these right here? That's what I want. Because we want them to match the rest of the house. They're very simple. I understand that. But let me just show you these right here. Because these are very good quality. These are the Kathy Ireland. No. The Kathy Ireland. Really? So they're used up old supermodels? Thank you. He recognizes at one point. He's a talker. And he recognizes I'm coming out of my skin. Please leave my house. And so he says. Yeah, I know you're probably hungry, getting ready for dinner. So just give me one more second here. And then launches into another story. And, I mean, it was two hours later where I'm like, okay, dude, I know what I want. Like, get out of my house. How dare he? It was bad. It was really bad. You figured it out, though, right? Yeah, I guess.
I don't even know. I fell asleep at one point. We're still painting our room silver. Like has the painting started yet? No, it starts towards the end of the month. Are you guys doing it or someone else? She's got this lady. Oh, that's right. Her girlfriend. Yeah, is a really good painter. That's right. I got to pick the color for the kitchen. What'd you go with? It's called Broadway. Oh, hey. You're joking, right? I'm sure you did. It's literally this much space. Nice. It's all yours, buddy. And here you go. Here's your palette. A quarter of a wall. Have fun. You deserve it. She could tell that I was really bummed that I only got to pick a one foot space. So she expanded it to two feet. What color is Broadway? It's kind of...
The color is the rainbow. It's kind of like the color of this wood. So it's a brownish. Kind of like a brownish. Which for us, you know, is gigantically different. Everything's beige. Everything's tan in the house. So we're going to have color and we're going to have silver in the room. It's going to look like a Raiders helmet. No. It's going to look awesome, dude. There's no black. Just wait. You're going to love it. I am? I'm going to love it. Yes, you are. You will. You will. Man. No. It's going to be great. You're cool. Everything's good. The room is going to want a heart and want to go to the theater. No, no, no. Hey, come on. Although, when you do stick your head in, you'll look like a nickel. That is true. That is true. 100% true. Oh, man. Man, we've got a lot of stuff to tell you. And when we come back, we're going to play the YouTube clip of the day. We've also got it.
A guy named Chris Cornell that's coming on the show. A guy named Chris Cornell. YouTube clip of the day today, by the way, is a guy that is singing a duet, man and woman duet, by himself. Doing both parts. You'll enjoy it. It's on your way, don't go away. Chris Cornell's next. Uh, Mikey? Hello? Never called in before, but I love your show and you guys rock. Oh, that's awesome. It is raining. because he's thinking about something sad even the things his parrot says are insightful once he knew he dialed a wrong number even though the man on the other line wouldn't admit it his shirts never wrinkle if there were an interesting gland his would be larger than most men's lower intestines he is left-handed if he were to mail a letter without postage it would still get there his charisma can be seen from space he is

And in second place now, it looks like the high jump has now taken over to second place. And Archery is still in third. We are waiting for Chris Cornell to call in, who I think is an amazing vocalist. And I also think he's got amazing songwriting skills, too. I remember when the first Audioslave album came out. I had like long intellectual conversations with people over the lyrics of different songs on that album. Oh, I was really into it. And I remember being really interested in his relationship with God because it seemed like there was so much of it that seemed to be like I couldn't, you know, and that's kind of the kind of cat Chris Cornell is. He's really diverse and he's just kind of a deep guy.
And the drummer, I don't know his name, but the drummer for Audioslave said that when he met Chris and they started writing music for the Audioslave album, it made him take out all his old Soundgarden albums and start just furiously reading through. And he said one night after they had worked in the studio with Chris Cornell, he went back to his place and just started pulling out all these Soundgarden discs. and reading the liner notes because he wanted to start reading the lyrics because he thought they were so amazing. Do you know, is he and the other dudes from Audioslave, are they on good or bad terms? I don't think they're on good terms. I think the last time we talked to him, it was... Like kind of an ugly breakup? It was definitely, they want this, and I want this. I know what it was. I just remember what it was. I'll give you the paraphrased short version.
Tom Morello wants to pick it, and that's what it was. Tom Morello, the guitar player for Audio Slave, wants to protest and be politically active, and I want to sing rock and roll. The drummer for Audio Slave is Brad Wilk. Did you guys know that they are going to, I believe, Rage Against the Machine is going to be performing in Denver at the same time the Democrats, or no, no, no, in Minnesota? Wherever the Republican... Minneapolis? Minneapolis. Michigan? Montenegro? Yeah. Milpitas? Yes. Same time the Republican National Convention is going on. So I wonder what Tom would be doing. Oh, what a surprise. Yeah. Well, when we interviewed Chris Cornell in San Francisco, the night that Audioslave was going to play in San Francisco, there was like some sort of a...
Yeah, that's awesome. Like a protest in the street going on that night. And it was, it took a while. Well, first of all, it took a while for the show to start because Tom was actually out there. Yeah. Protesting. Running through the streets. Jackass. Well, he really likes protesting. He's into, you know, being politically active. Yes. Let's see. Why don't we do a little bit of this? Now it's time for the YouTube clip of the day. This is an amazing vocal performance. What you're about to hear is a man singing a male-female duet by... No, is this you? This is not me, although I'm capable. You could do this. I am capable. You'd be great. I am capable. This is a man singing... In fact, when I heard it, I thought, eh, it's okay. No. He's not really hitting the high notes. Right. But not bad. Okay. Cut 43. Hi, I'm Nick Patera, and I'm going to sing A Whole New World from Disney's Aladdin. Oh, that's a lot. I'm already out. What? No. He's a good singer. We're into it so far. We're like, okay, it's a guy singing. You gotta see the eyes in the room right now. It's the same guy. We're gonna start putting them, you know, we said we're gonna put these on MikeyShow.com. Are we doing that already, Shawnee, or are we gonna, what's the deal? We'll have it ready for Monday. Okay, cool.
So starting on Monday, we'll start putting them up where you'll be able to, anything you hear on YouTube clip of the day. We can put some past ones up too. You'll be able to see that one. Holy moly. That's pretty fantastic. One take, a guy doing both parts. Someone, Sean, can you send me the link to that? My mind says no, that's not true. I'm so turned on. Yeah, and do you have a contact information? For this gentleman, please. Sing to me, Phil. Yeah, it's really weird. Like, the guy's got a bunch of videos on there, and one of them he does, I think it's like, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey. Oh, come on. Yeah, I swear to God, and he does both parts. Well, in Boyz II Men, they don't have a really, really high-pitched singer. Yeah, they do. They have like a, what do you call... What's the tone that's normal? Like just flat or not? Alto. Is that what it is? I think it is. Yeah. What's like the middle of the road? No, super high. Philharmonic. Philharmonic is the tone I'm thinking of. Eddie, I don't think that's... Okay, we got to do the blender stuff. We got to do the blender stuff. I've been waiting. I know it. Well, we used to work with a guy and I nicknamed him Boy Blender.
And he is no longer with the show. However, he is still our good friend. And we had to let him go in 2004 because he forgot to edit out the F word and some stuff and it got out over the air. Unfortunately, it wasn't the first time it happened. Or the second. Or the third. He got in trouble. What it was is sometimes Every once in a week, we have a delay button. And if somebody calls in and they curse, we hit the delay. Well, you have to remember, if we're going to play that for the best of the Mikey show, you got to go through there and you got to bleep out that person saying that. Otherwise, it'll air. Well, he forgot multiple times. And so, you know, finally, his number was up and he got canned. Well, he's still our good friend. We love him. He is now on the afternoon show with BC and Clint. And they changed his name. They actually got his name sponsored. So he was going by Budweiser. Valtrex. For a long time. Now he's Valtrex. Is that what you're saying? We don't know. It's right now just producer Rick, patent pending. He is not Cialis. That would be good. That's a good one. But yeah, he is just producer Rick. Catchy. But we will never, ever know him as anything else but Boy Blender. We will always know him as Boy Blender. Or a fisherman.
Yeah, or the fish. Or the fish. Fish face. Or foy flounder. Now, for those of you that don't know him, he is, well, we call him Boy Blunder for a reason. He's not the smoothest cat in the world. Not the smoothest cat. I mean, he has great intentions usually, and they usually fail miserably. But we love him. I love him. Yeah, we love him, Eddie. I just want to grab his face. Just grab that gravy beer. Yeah. Is that Foy Fishy on the line there? Hi, Blender. Hi, guys. How are you? How are you? How is everybody? How did you... Now, Blender, did you know that we had the audio of you at Comic-Con? I figured. I sent it to Eddie yesterday. I just wanted to show, you know, show it to you guys. Yeah, show us what we're missing. Yeah, listen. It wouldn't have mattered if he didn't send it to us. We would have gotten it. Somebody would have said it. Let me tell you. It doesn't matter what he does. We have audio of it. We've always got audio of him, no matter what he's up to. If he ever tells us that he proposed to someone, we'll say, I know, we saw it on YouTube. We played it yesterday. Yeah, we played it yesterday. Oh, did you? Yeah. No, no. No, we weren't talking about it. No. Great. So, let's take a listen. This is...
This is Boy Blunder, which... Rick. Yes, please, Mike. Richard. Richard. This is... This is he at Comic-Con asking director Kevin Smith a question. He got up on the microphone and stood up in front of... How many people were there, Blunder? About 5,000. Well, you're alive, kid. This kid gets up in front of 5,000 people and he asks a question. Cut 44. I would ask you, and the cast as well, Kevin, your biggest strength in writing is dialogue and whatnot, whereas the cast has been a lot of aptitudes. And he just held up the Star Trek sign for greetings. Hey, you know what? I love it. I'm just going to say, when it's something like that, we outnumber you, okay? That is true. That is true. But I'll tell you this, Fishy. Yes.
If your boy Eddie had been in that room, and I don't care if he had been 5,000 people in the back, you would have heard him screaming out, Fisherman! What a nerd! Unpause. Only if Eddie wasn't as nerdy as I was. That's right. But I hide it better. That's right. Unpause. Bad living and improv and whatnot. How did you reconcile the two? And just so Scott doesn't feel lonely anymore. Pause. Pause. Can I ask a question? Oh, no. Oh, Mike. Don't. Hang on. I want to ask a question. Go ahead. I just have a question about sometimes. Sometimes. He's matured, Mike. Okay. I just want to know how come sometimes when Boy Blender has that microphone in front of him.
We notice that that voice does change just a little bit. He does a little piping on us. Blunder. He doesn't know. I was a little nervous. I was. I love it. I love it. I think you have a good voice. Who is this Scott you're talking about? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm sorry. I didn't catch that. Who is Scott that you're referring to? Scott Mosier. Scott Mosier, his producer. What? You guys know who Scott Mosher is? We do. So what did Blender say? I don't want to leave Scott out of the room. He asked Kevin a question about that real quick. Scott, you're lonely over there. Scott, I know you're getting a little jealous with this question, so make sure that I just want to address you for a second. Let's see what Scott and Kevin say. Unpause.
How did you reconcile the two? And just so Scott doesn't feel lonely anymore, like, how does it feel to write your signature on all those checks with gigantic numbers on it? That's all. Oh, sorry. Pause, pause, pause. Uh-oh. Blender. Oh, no. Blender. Oh, no. Good intentions. It wasn't as good as you thought. What are you talking about? They were laughing at me. Wait a minute. That was an uncomfortable murmur. Yes, murmur, murmur, murmur, murmur. That joke fell flat. Okay, well... Pause. Pause. Kevin Smith is like, are you the guy... Stop sending me those...
Are you the guy that put all that cursing on the air at that time? I know that, dude. I know that, dude. Unpause. To be honest with you, it was fine. For some reason, I have this fierce reputation for nobody deviates from the script whatsoever. I haven't really been like that since Chasing Amy. I think Chasing Amy is the last time I did it. You get it, what he's talking about. I couldn't be like, dude, you don't know from funny. Working with other cats, it was like, we're kind I have excellence in their field. Way to set him up, Blunder. Blunder, were you satisfied with his answer? Yes. Yeah. That's good. That is good. Did you ask any other questions? No. Oh, I liked it. Any other panels? No. I only got up to that one. Dang it. I liked it, Blunder. I think you did a good job. Yeah, you got guts, kids. I thought so, too. Me, too. Me, too.
How are you in general? You're an ass. Hey, Randy Beard, I love you. That is a fact. He is an ass. That is not true. I do. I kiss your face all the time. How are you, fishy? I'm good. How are you guys doing? Good, man. I haven't talked to you for a while. I know. I'm worried about you. You are? Yes. Why are you worried about me? Oh, because we haven't talked in a while. I didn't know how you were and how the kid was doing and how the wifey was doing, all that stuff. The kid is doing good and the wifey's doing good and everybody's good. That's cool. We should all go to lunch or something with the fishy. I like that idea. All right. All right. All right, brother. Bye, guys. We'll see you later. Watch out for bears. Oh, wait a minute. Seth, I don't know what you're talking about. Oh, he hung out. We've got to take a break. Hopefully Chris Cornell will be on with us soon. What's a P1? KIOZ San Diego is the radio station, and the city of origin is San Diego. So, legally, we identify the radio station at 10 a.m. by saying it's KIOZ San Diego. And then, booyah! And then, Sean is supposed to hit the thing that says KIOZ. No, Matt, it says KIOZ.
You say KIOZ, hit it, and then you play the thing. And then Booyaka, Sean. Exactly. Well, Sean, you're saying... I hate when he agrees. Exactly. He's saying exactly, but he's the one that's supposed to do the thing. Well, that's... What, am I supposed to disagree with you? No, Sean, you're supposed to hit the... Hit the thing, hit it. You know what? Hit it, we say hit it. I mean, women approach me six, seven times a day. No, I don't want to hear Dimitri. I want to hear... No, Dimitri. I want to hear... The sound effect says KIO. So we say KIOZ, San Diego, and then you hit it. So he's not going to hit it. That's ridiculous. I mean, that is awful. It's ridiculous. Welcome back. Chris Cornell will be on the show any moment. In fact, we have him on hold right now. And we're just going to talk about the traveling sisterhood of the Yaya pants. No, we're not going to talk about that. Mike, we're not going to talk about that. We are not. We're just going to listen to a clip. We are not going to do that either.
We're still men here and we have rights. I'm not a man. We have rights. I'm not a man. Yeah, click one. I do not have like a vote. You want to be one. You want to be a vote and stuff? And you don't. So what does that mean? Why are you waving to the audience? Because they love it. Stupid. You. I'm talking about you. Oh, me? Yes. We got a text message that says, I bet after Boy Blender asked that question, he was so proud of himself, he yelled out, and that is how you do that in the middle of the room. Now, this is an inside joke. To inside joke. I hope you heard that. Inside joke. I hope you heard that. To inside joke. Yes. That is great. Oh, yes. To explain. Explain it. At Eddie's bachelor party in Lake Tahoe. Clown. Myself, Eddie, Rob, bunch of guys. And Boy Blunder were at Eddie's bachelor party and were sitting at a restaurant. And across the room is a bachelorette party. And so Boy Blunder, who usually is a pretty shy, kind of meek, and doesn't, you know, he's not a very socially awkward. Yes. Decides. That's a little true. Weren't we? Anyway, so he decides that he is going to
Go and impress the ladies. Show us what charm is all about. That's right. So he gets up and he takes with him a pitcher of margaritas from the bachelor party. Yeah, we just ordered it. Yep. Walks over to the girls' table across the room. And all of us guys are watching like, what's he going to do? And, you know, girls seem to be giggling. And, you know, he's doing body language of... I'm charming, I'm charming. And then he comes back and he says, and that is how you do that. And Eddie's brother-in-law said, I mean, that's how you give away our drinks. And get nothing in return. That's amazing. You just gave girls a table, a pitcher full of margaritas. And got nothing in return.
Dude, it was so great that they had t-shirts made of a pitcher of a margarita glass with the phrase, and that is how you do that. Genius. Okay, Sean. Now you play the sound effect. He's doing this more and more where he won't play the sound effect, and then out of the middle of nowhere, he just plays it. I got it. Eddie, 20 minutes, they're saying. No, but that's not even. What, what, what, Ash? You can say it on the air. He's on a private jet right now. He's running late. Chris Cornell is on a private jet. Flying from Arizona. I was just talking to his management and she said he'd maybe land in maybe 20 minutes and she could give me a call back and let me know the ETA of when from that point on he would be ready to even come on. We're on still. We're on. And then she said if that doesn't work out. Where's he flying to?
Did she say where they're supposed to land? Probably. I know the Project Revolution tour is going to be up at Shoreline Amphitheater up in the Bay Area. And he left Arizona? Tomorrow. He just left Arizona? Well, she said something about private jet from Arizona. She didn't say where. He ain't landing in 20 minutes. Well, it depends when he left. I thought he just left. I asked her because she goes, well, let me give you a call back when he lands. I go, so are we talking five minutes? She goes, oh, no, maybe 20. And then I'll give you the ETA on when he's ready to talk to you. Oh, boy. And then I said, well, okay. I go, well, hopefully we're still on the air. She goes, well, can you just have Eddie or Mikey call me right now? I go, oh, well, you know, we're on the air, though, right now. And she goes, okay, have one of them call me when you're off. I go, but then, so does that mean that you're going to call me back with him before? Call me when you want. Eddie, call her right now while we're on. See what she says. Because I want to talk to him really bad. Sure. So. I mean, she was really nice, but it just kind of sounded like a little bit of a cluster. Yeah. Which is understandable. Yeah, that happens with rock stars. Oh, yeah. Can you imagine the lifestyle, you know, of your, like, you're on a private jet going to your next gig? Please, Mike. That's pretty crazy. That's weird. Let's see. I got an email here from P1 Bond, Gina Bond. And this is the Gina that we know from our KSJO days. Oh, nice.
Mikey, I was working at the audio slave show that night that you're talking about for the radio station that you guys used to work for in San Jose. That night, my job was to guard the radio station truck while the anti-war march came down the street in front of the venue. Crazy. A woman gave me tickets because I was a huge fan while I was guarding the truck. So I went inside for the show. All right, before the show ended, I ran outside to pass out stickers only to find that someone spray painted no war in big red letters across the side of the truck. Apparently the message is no war, but yes on vandalism. Yeah, on with war, up with vandalism. That's right. The worst part was my boss walked out of the venue after the show and asked, how could I let this happen? I was totally busted. Didn't know that story. Yeah. That's a pretty good one. It happens. Yeah. Let's see. Bill Clinton is going to speak on the third night of the Democratic National Convention. How do you like that, Sean? Yes. Congratulations. Sean is a big fan of Clinton. Huge fan. So, yeah, when is it? It's in Denver, right? Yeah. Let's see. In three weeks, is it? Yeah. I need the exact date. They had to change our...
morning show boot camp trip to when it was because originally it was going to be when the Democratic National Convention was going on. Yeah. Well, we ran, Ashley and myself ran into a very interesting gentleman in Walgreens when we were in Denver. Really? And Ashley's phone started to go on the fritz. And it was like a total mess. Like the screen was all gobbledygook. Like her phone was... you know, breaking down. Bunking out. Yeah, total bunking out. And so we were talking about it, and the guy kind of, you know, butts in and goes, oh, you know, people don't believe me, but this has been going on with my phone, too, because, you know, with the Democratic National Convention coming up, the government is moving around all the satellites, and he starts doing this whole thing about the government controlling the satellites. Yeah, we didn't ask him, right? No, no, no. I mean, we were just talking amongst ourselves. But you got to learn a lot. Yeah, and then he starts telling us he knows this because he's a bodyguard. I'm like, you're a bodyguard? And then there's this other guy in front of him, this dude. And I mean, this dude was big and burly. And he starts telling us how he's a bodyguard. And then he starts like, well, he's not really a bodyguard. He's more of a glorified babysitter because this guy has a lot of problems. And he's like, dude, it was the craziest thing. We didn't ask him about that either. No, we didn't ask him about anything. But he just filled us in.
Well, in the beginning, things seemed very strange to Skye. That is until just about an hour later, Ashley began to eat. Before you knew it, something strange was stirring about Ashley. Little did she know, she had been attacked by aliens in that Walgreens. Is that why I'm so hungry now? End of the night, Ashley had grown. That is not true. At this very moment, Ashley is an insect. That's weird. Yeah. I didn't expect that. Eddie, what'd they say? Okay. Well, very chaotic. Yes. Of course, when something like this happens. What's going on? The person I think that called Ashley is unavailable, so I spoke to that person's person, and they're going to have that person call back on the hotline so I can speak to them directly. Yeah, that doesn't sound promising. It's all craziness. That sounds bad. Yeah.
Let's see. Big stories that I missed. Padres lost to the Mets on a David Wright walk-off two-run home run in the ninth. This is pretty disheartening. I mean, the Padres' Jody Garrett hits a home run in the top of the ninth to tie the game, and everybody's going crazy. Like, oh, man, what a crazy, you know, awesome. And then David Wright, as soon as the bottom of the ninth comes out, hits a two-run bomb to win the game. Terrible. Yeah. You can check that one off now. Russia warns Georgia over South Assetia aggression. Skye? Dude, I don't feel very smart when I read these things. No, it's this country right under Russia and one of its most northern provinces is what Mike said. What is it called? South Assetia. Assetia.
And then I guess Ossetia has kind of been breaking off. They're trying to be part of their own. And they have more of, I guess, an allegiance to Russia than they do to their own country. And so everything escalated. And now, like, basically there's a war going on in Russia right now. Like, Russia has tanks going in. Jets are being shot out of the sky. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I have not heard of this. Yeah, I was breaking news this morning, so, you know, I'm sure I didn't do the story much justice, but you can go on to CNN.com. Did you know, ladies and gentlemen, that the singer JoJo was originally offered the job to play Hannah Montana? Really? But she turned it down. No! Yeah. She turned it down. Yeah, and of course says that she doesn't regret it. Really? You don't want to be a part of a billion dollar enterprise? Yeah, she doesn't. She has no regrets. Cut five. Please.
Despite being 17 years young, rising star JoJo has the whole Hollywood thing in perspective. How do you keep yourself out of those situations? I still live in New England. I'm an East Coast girl till I die. And I still live with my mom. But this East Coast girl would have moved west if she hadn't turned down the role of a lifetime. You almost were Hannah Montana. Is that right? Yeah, they offered the role. And you decided you didn't want to do that? It's not what I see for myself. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be. Why is it not... Why do you suppose that's not what she would want? She's a rock and roller, Mike. Wake up, idiot! That was weak. She's not part of this kidsy music. What is the... Let's see. I don't believe you. Continue. Let's see. I want to play JoJo. Oh, this is a good song. You blew it! She's a good singer. She's still doing, making music and stuff? Do you have any albums out? New ones? No clue. Ash, you should know. Go ahead. Her last album, Bonked. Is that the one with Africa? In my opinion. Yeah. It's the one with the Toto song on it, right? What the hell are you saying? I mean, she's good. She is.
talented. I even think she's a better singer than Miley Cyrus, you know? That's why I think it's kind of weak for her to, like, pretend she's too big for that role. It's like, you know, I don't know. This is pathetic. Sounds good to me. Is there anything big I'm missing? Well, this Beyonce thing's kind of getting really big. They were just talking about this on the Today Show, the L'Oreal Beyonce thing. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Dude, like... Okay, so Beyonce does modeling and advertising for L'Oreal. She's one of their spokesmodels. And their new ad campaign with her looks like they totally bleached her out. If you look at the picture from the ad campaign next to a candid shot of Beyonce taking an ad, an award ceremony, or anywhere, she's like...
Ten shades lighter in the L'Oreal. Really? Her hair and her skin. And L'Oreal denies lightening her up. They say that is not true. But if you look at side-by-side photos of any candid shot of Beyonce. Do you have any? They just showed it a little while ago. Where are the white women at? Yeah, they showed it about like five minutes ago on the Today Show. I'm black and I'm proud. It's like a big controversy, right? Yeah. That they're bleaching her. What do you think, Skye? I mean, they claim that they didn't, but I mean, there must have been some crazy lighting in there. You're just way too bright for me, homeboy. I want to know what she thinks. Oh, he just put it up for me. Oh, is that it? Yeah, Zeth just put the picture up. That's the chocolate I'm talking about. Is she mad? Is she commenting? She will not comment and said that L'Oreal will do the commenting. Make chocolatey. Oh, there it is. There it is. There it is. Yeah, I think that, well, see, the thing is I need to see more of the before pictures. Here they are talking about. Got made over a little before and after. That's coming up right after the commercial. In three minutes, don't go right. Yeah, I saw it, but I don't know if I passed it or what I did. When I grow up, I'm going to marry a white woman. Same.
There we go. Wow. Right? That's quite a difference. I'm not your sister. Cracker Jack. Yes. And we love you that way. Yes, that is me. So in other words, L'Oreal's saying there's no scandal here. There's nothing going on here. They said they didn't do anything, but I don't know. But I've seen recent pictures of Beyonce and her hair is not that color of the new product. Right. She probably just did that. Just did a deal. Yeah, yeah. So what do you think? I mean, right? What are we talking about? talking here like photoshop what do we do what how do we do why would they do that like what would be the point to maybe make her more mainstream or you know what i mean you can't just do that though right you hired beyonce she should i can't be honest with you the picture on the right looks more like beyonce that i know really that's the more like that's the way if listen if somebody put those two pictures up i would go oh yeah the one on the right that's beyonce who's the girl on the left wait beyonce's black Shut up, Rob. You're such a dummy. Yeah, I think that the one on the right looks more like Beyonce. The one in question is the one that makes me go, yeah, it's Beyonce. McChocolaty. Have you seen this, Ash? Big Beyonce fan. I haven't seen it. You want to see it? Sure. What's the matter with Ashley? Is she okay? Is everything all right? Yeah. What's the matter? What's the matter with mommy? Nothing. Mommy upset at it? Oh, no. Is it a Zeth thing? What did Zeth do? What did Zeth do?
What's going on? Seth, were you mean to her? Did you mistreat her? I don't think so. Why is that a banana upon her? It happens. She's mad at it. What's going on? I was just waiting for him to send it to me. But I knew he wouldn't, and it's just, it is what it is. So Seth doesn't think about you and your feelings. Whoa. That's how dare you. Sky, you're a hate monger. I'm trying to get my help. It's a Friday. Communist. I'm trying to figure it all out. He deserves to die. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. Squirt, squirt, squirt. BJ Novak is in talks to be in a Tarantino movie. Yeah, you know, because BJ Novak, Ryan from The Office, we think of him. He's such a jerk now. The Ryan Novak? Yes, Ryan Novak. BJ Novak? Come on. Yeah, why is he saying that? His character. Oh, the character. Oh, okay. Rob gets confused. Oh, yeah, that's not real life, Rob. But anyways, yeah, he's in talks. I have a role in this Tarantino World War II film. Oh, yeah. Where he plays a soldier and rat pits and talks to play like the lead soldier. Sounds like a very serious role. I wonder when that's coming out.
Well, Tarantino hopes to have it ready in May. To shoot? For the film festival. Eddie, ABC renewed that TV show you like, Wipeout. Oh, well, duh. It's the summer hit sensation. It's really good. It actually is. It's hysterical. I've never seen it, but I've seen the Japanese one where they all try to... This is funny. They're trying to dodge balls being flung at them. It's hysterical. It's good. Yeah, they say that Wipeout has delivered the best numbers of any new summer show since Dancing with the Stars debuted three years ago. Awesome! What about that Japanese game show? I survived the Japanese game show. I love that show. You don't mention that one. Can you find out for me? Well, I haven't seen it in the ratings. What is she talking about? I don't know. Are you okay in there? I'm fine.
What's going on, Ash? What's going on? What would you like to say, Ash? What would you like to talk about? Oh, who cares? Why would you even bring that up? So what? Who won? Joshua won. Oh, it's not a huge show. No, huge, huge. So what? So Joshua won? Yeah. Joshua who? It came down between Joshua and Twitch, both from the streets. I can dance, dude. From the streets, African-American, hip-hop. Bass dancers, both phenomenal. Who cares? I care. Sky new movies? We have one new movie out today. Pineapple Express came out on Wednesday, so that's a new movie for the weekend, but came out on Wednesday. Nothing's coming out today. No, there is a movie coming out today. We have a brand new movie. You're trying the Jedi mind trick, Connor? It's actually a sequel because the first one was such a success. It's not working.
I mean, Eddie's normally a breast of pop culture. I'm surprised he's... What about your breasts? Everyone grow up. So, out today, brand new movie, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Of course he does. We're not planning a clip. But we always play a clip of the new movies coming out. We're not planning a clip. What is it with the yaha of the traveling pants? We're not planning a clip. Well, Mike, it's based on a book, a series of books about magical clothes. Look at Eddie. We're not planning a clip. Mike, look at Eddie. We're not planning a clip. Scott America Ferreira. We're not planning a clip. Sean, we're not planning a clip. What are you guys doing here? Oh, come on. You didn't think we'd let you do this alone, did you? Oh, my God. It turns out. My stepdad had like a million frequent flower miles, and they were about to expire, so he gave them to us. I'll probably, I probably won't be able to make it to that this weekend. What, Mom? But I already bought you tickets on Fandango. You did? Yep. We better go. Right. That's it, right, Skye? Yeah, just those movies. There it is. One last thing. Jewel married her rodeo boyfriend over the weekend in, or no, yesterday in the Bahamas. Yeah. That's strange. A Thursday wedding. Yeah.
They've been together for her. And she slashed his face when he went to kiss the bride. How bizarre of a comment was that? She's got a loose tooth. Not everybody can have perfect teeth, Mike. I mean, really. She lived in the back of a trunk. She couldn't afford an orthodontist. All she had was her guitar and her car. I mean, what do you want from her? I don't know. Eddie, stop it. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. Oh, for goodness sake. Oh, for goodness sake. All right. Thank you. Too soon. Ryan Seacrest's name added to New Year's Rockin' Eve. Eddie can't handle it. Why? I thought he already did that New Year's Rockin' Eve. No, Mike. His name has been added to the title of the show. Oh, so now it's Ryan Seacrest's New Year's Rockin' Eve. They're co-hosts. So it is now. No, it's always been Dick's show. Oh, no. Hey, it is now Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Oh, that's garbage. I'm sorry, Eddie. I'm sorry. I know, you know. Eddie's a fan of Dick Clark. Oh, man. Poor Dick Clark. What else can happen to that guy? Well, I mean, I think they're friends. I don't think Dick has a problem with it. That's terrible. That's terrible. I mean, girl. Bro. Eddie. 570.
105.3 is our phone number. Beginning and end of every show, we do an open phone segment. You can call in about anything you want. And we do that at the beginning and the end of the show. P1 Quimby is on the line. Hi, Quimby. How did you like that little bit last night, Quimby? Oh. So good? Glorious. A little BB10 mic. Oh, BB10. It was awesome. It was. Big Brother 10. So is Sean Sean? Does he have another job or something? What? Sean, do you have another job? A job here. I was watching Leno last night, and there were two guys in panda suits, racing tricycles. Oh, man. Oh, Sean. Did not know that. I mean, we could have promoted it for you, Sean. Didn't know that. You're going to be on Leno. Yeah. Sean, why don't you tell us? I mean, you should have at least worn a Mikey Show P1 Army t-shirt or something. That's huge. It was hot. I didn't know he's moonlighting for Lennon. Neither did we. This is news to us. He does it because he's a sexual deviant. Wait, Eddie, I don't think riding a tricycle... Well, he's trying to catch him and then probably do weird stuff. Well, Sean, as you know, was a furry. So, there you go. That was awesome. I had dreams about furries all night long. There you go. Thank you, Quimby. Mikey Show. Hey, man, this is Chris. What's up?
Not much, man. I was just going to call you guys and tell you I'm in El Centro right now. Man, I had to hit the button on him. Well, it ruins it because then I can't take calls and stuff because it takes a while for the thing to... It's just terrible. We may have Chris Cornell, though. At least we're getting a call back. We should have him by November. He'll be ready to go. What do you got? I got something tonight. I'm going to be out over in La Mesa. Hey, that's my hood. That's your hood? Yeah, that's my hood. Oh, what's up? You got to come say what's up to me. Yeah, I will. What are you going to do? At Bev Mall on Center Drive. That's right across the street from Grossmont Center, Mike.
How about that? Wow. Yeah, so they're going to have some beer sampling inside the store and all that, and you've got to drink responsibly. It's kind of behind the Arby's. There's a cooking school right in the same area. Holy macaroni. How about that? I guess you know where it is. Yeah. Well, I'll be there. You go say hi to your boy, Eddie. I'm going to. What time? How about that? It's going to be at 5 o'clock until about 7 o'clock. Free beer, is that what he said? He said beer tasting. You hear that? He said free beer. No, he said beer tasting. Hey, you know what? Stop it. Mikey Show. What's going on? What up? Ladies and gentlemen. That's my boy. It's Ayo. Hey, what's popping? What's going on? What's going on, Ayo? Alexa, man, I had to tell you about it a day earlier, but I missed you guys. So I want to hurry up and get to it real quick. Okay. I dig. So me and this one chick, we step out for a minute. And you know what I mean? We went out for a little walk and whatnot. And she happened to just climb a tree. And she was like, come on, let's have a picnic up here. And I was like, excuse me? You were on a walk with a girl and she climbed a tree? Yes, I promise you. And people were like, they were walking up. She's going on a date with an orangutan? I guess so. I was like.
Okay, yeah, right on. So she climbed down, and she just started walking around barefoot. And I'm like, is she for real right now? Wow. She's like, so on our next date, are we going to have a picnic in the tree? I'm like, yeah, absolutely. And she texted me when she got home, and I said, just not a good idea. Not my job. Oh. Oh, A-O. I don't play those games. We don't climb trees at 25. So you didn't go out with her again? Man, no. Wow. Go in the woods and handle his business? That's right. No way. You're so judgmental. Yeah. Absolutely. He can be, though. Hey. He's a player. Hey, come on, homeschooling. You know how I handle my pain. That's what I'm saying. Shum on, Eddie. Shum on. It's so good. Shum on. Yeah, shum on. Hey, Eddie, I'm mad at you a little bit, my base coach, because you haven't talked about the Madden 09 season. What's going on, bro? Yeah, I'm a little, it's a little hard for me to talk about that with who's on the cover. I know. I heard. You know what? I apologize. It's all good. Brat Favre on the cover. That would be a bad way for him to go out. That would be a horrible way for him to go out if he gets hurt. Ayo, thank you for the call. You guys have a good weekend. Appreciate it. Peace. Mikey Show. How you doing, man? I just wanted to call you guys up and let you guys know about some event happening tomorrow. What is it? We've got a pro wrestling show. Oh, hello. Awesome. Over in Oceanside. Cool.
What is it? Yeah, like where, when. You want to give some details? In Oceanside off Mission. The website is SoCalProWrestling.com. It's at 401 Country Club Lane. Is that like somebody's house? No, it's at the Oceanside Boys and Girls Club. All right. And we'll be there. Show starts at 7 o'clock. Any names? Well, we've got the former NWA heavyweight champion, Adam Pearce. Okay. My fave. What about Coco Beware? Did you get him? Yeah. Coco Beware. He'll be here next month. Oh, nice. There you go. But I think it's only $15 for adults, $10 for military, and $10 for kids. There you go. All right, bro. And the website, SoCalProWrestling.com. I appreciate it, guys. Cool, man. Ashley just held up the number three to me. I don't know what that means. Three minutes? Yeah. Oh, wow. He'll be on in three minutes? Yeah. Oh, cool. There you go. We'll talk to Chris in three minutes. Okay. Not bad. Take a couple phone calls. P1 T-Rex is on the line. Hey, what's happening? What's going on, T-Rex? Hey, Mike, I know how much you like to read. Yeah. I bought you a book earlier today. I got it, dude. Thank you very much. We were talking yesterday. I was saying how I was very fascinated by the Great Wall of China. Oh, no. And so T-Rex bought me a book on the Great Wall of China. That is interesting. And brought it by the radio station.
And so, yeah, T-Rex, that was very nice of you. And he even he did some editing, which I thought was really interesting. He did some editing. You see, if you open up the book to the very beginning, it's got like a table of contents and it tells you about the different things. And he took, I guess, like a little exacto knife and cut some letters out and covered them up and changed the name. So now it says the Ham Dynasty and the Ham Empire. I mean, T-Rex, you have a wife and children. Like, I mean, you have time for these shenanigans? Oh, wow. Hey, funny guy. There you go. Well done. Well done, T-Rex. I love you guys. Thank you, T-Rex. All right. We'll see you. P1 Brandon, what's going on? Hey, Mikey, this is P1 Brandon. Hey, I'm getting married today, and I know my wife's listening, and I just wanted to tell her that I loved her. She's not your wife yet. Maybe it's his other wife, dude. Real funny, Rob. Well, she will be my wife later on. She will be your wife later. Aw, congrats. Yeah, this has got to be a popular wedding day, 8-8-0-8. We had to book our place about six months in advance because all the other places were gone already. Very cool. Very cool. So where are you guys going for the honeymoon? We're not. We're actually not going on a honeymoon. How come?
Because we went on a honeymoon about six months ago when I was deployed to Japan. There you go. So you guys are going to get married and just go home? Well, my family's in town from Massachusetts. Oh, nice, dude. Yeah, dude. I'm interested. Where are they from? Is he a Saudi? What are you doing over here? What's that? Never mind. It's cool. Well, congratulations to you two kids. And how old are you? I'm 24 and she's 24 as well. There you go. Well, congrats, man. I hope everything works out and turns out good. All right. Thanks. Thanks, dude. I shouldn't have thrown all the material away. Now we got Cornell calling in a couple of minutes. There you go. Is anybody going to watch the Olympics tonight? It's opening ceremonies and I get bored. I know. All the pageantry. I get bored with it. There's thousands of dancers. What? No?
Running the torch around? No. No? Again? Not my thing. No, I'm kind of excited. You into that, Skye? Just the opening ceremony. Oh, that's the worst. Yeah, it's the boring stuff. The rest of it's boring. Really? Unless it's gymnastics. I can watch gymnastics. You like the swimming? Yeah. The men's basketball? Ugh, no. I think she would really be into that. Hell yeah. At least on the U.S. team. Here we go. Chris Cornell is on the line. Yes, as far as you know, because it could be anybody. They really could. We'd never be the wiser. Was it true that you were really landing on your jet to your next Project Revolution city? It was somebody's, not mine. It wasn't yours, but it was a jet. No, I'm actually performing on Jay Leno tonight. Are you really? Wow. And we played Phoenix last night. Which starts at the end of the show. It was a huge storm. And we couldn't leave until I got up and came here now. So I'm just going to do that now. Project Revolution, Chris Cornell, Linkin Park. Wow. Pretty amazing. It's been really great. They're great. The audience has been fantastic. It's been a really fun tour so far. Chris, what kind of stuff in your portion of the show do you do?
only your solo material, or do you do any audio slave? Do you do any Soundgarden? I do all of that, actually. And I do all of that, and there's a section where the audience gets to kind of vote on a song, and then I do whatever they choose, and so I'm doing a couple of new songs from my album that's not even out yet. So it's pretty much, you know, whatever I feel like. That's where I, in case anyone was, like, confused about, solo artist versus band thing. That's really sort of the big part of it that, yeah, you just kind of do whatever you feel like whenever you want. That's cool. That also includes being able to tour a lot, play a lot of shows, make a lot of records, and I'm that guy, kind of. Not everybody is. Some people like to make a record, go on tour, then take a year off, go mountain climbing, learn how to be a race car driver, stuff like that. I like music, so that's what I do.
So it's working out good for me. Chris, do you ever perform the song Sun Shower live? Yeah, we had a day off. Project Rev had a day off. And the show was on in Vegas, so I did a headlining show in Vegas. And that's how I started the first song. That is so cool. I could have just said yes. No, no, no, I love it. Hey, listen, that is one of my favorite songs that you've done. And so I would love to have seen that live. Eddie has a question. Yeah, Chris, so you're in L.A. Then I know tomorrow you're playing the Bay Area. Yes. And then you're coming back down here to play Irvine. Mm-hmm. Dude, does the travel ever just, I mean, do you ever just go enough? I mean, what do you do on the planes? Are you an iPod guy or a movie guy? It depends. Sometimes I'll actually write.
song lyrics into like my Blackberry. Sometimes it's like just trying to sleep. Sometimes, um, sometimes listening to music, whatever, you know, it depends. It depends on how long the flight is and what time of day it is. And, um, but no, you know, the, We used to do van tours where, you know, I would have to drive all night long, and we were our own roadies, and five guys in a Motel 6 room, we'd have to lie, and one guy would go check in, and then the rest of us would sneak in around the back. So, you know, doing it this way, it's not so hard. Chris, are you talking on your Blackberry right now? No, I'm talking on someone else's. Is there any way, is your BlackBerry around you and you could read us one or two lines of something that you've written lately? No, I don't have it. Which would we love to hear. Just like what's going on in that head and what you're writing down would be great. Well, you know, next time I talk to you, I'll just open it up and start reading. That'd be cool, man. I think that'd be really cool. Oh, yeah. It's a weird thing to do in a way, but it's one of those things where like...
It ended up coming in really handy. Like, I was sort of against CDs when they first happened. And then I figured out, well, wait a minute, you know, it takes up less space and we're out on the road traveling around. We don't have that much, you know, cassettes that don't work as well. So I kind of gave it that. And then iPod technology, I was completely against. And I have to say, especially for someone with my lifestyle and doing the work that I do and the fact that we're traveling all the time, I basically can take my entire record collection with me on a little thing that's smaller than my phone. So I can't really complain about it anymore. We were talking about you pretty much all morning, and I've said it to you before when we've had you on the show, that I think that you're probably the best male vocalist of our time. Thank you so much. Yep. We were talking about just how much your music means to us, and you did a cover of Billie Jean. Mm-hmm.
And for Michael Jackson, how did that come about? It's just kind of fun. And part of it, you know, I would do acoustic sets in the middle of shows. And, you know, at some point, and particularly like when I was an audio slave, that was a period of the set where I could do whatever I wanted. And bands tend to work like, you know, you have general consensus of what you're going to play. Once I was standing up there along with guitar, I kind of do anything. And sometimes, like, as a joke, I would do a song just to surprise them, you know, and then they would, you know, talk about it afterwards, and it would just be kind of funny. And that sort of is how Billie Jean started. But the thing was, that kind of got into the lyrics and kind of changing the music and, you know, changed the time signature, slowed it down, you know, changed the style of the way it's sung. It became sort of an emotional, serious song. And once I did that, I performed it the first time live, I think.
I was in Stockholm doing this, it was like a radio listeners event where like 100 people came and I did just an acoustic set and I played it there. And the reaction was so interesting that I just started doing it more and more. Because when I started playing it, they thought it was just some song of mine, maybe that I had written years ago for a movie, because it's oddly familiar and I'm singing it. And then they would realize that it's not that. You know, there'd be kind of this round of applause of, oh, it's something else. And then all of a sudden they'd realize what it really was. And there'd be another round of applause. And then they would realize that it's me doing that. And it was just such a strange thing that I started doing it a lot. And when I was making Carry On, we just did it just to... We're talking to Chris Cornell and Project Revolution is the tour that he's on. Tim and Linkin Park. Is there a song, Chris?
that you have written and performed for either Soundgarden or for Audioslave or even one of your solo songs. Is there a song that vocally you just really love to sing, that your voice just really loves it? Well, there's a song that I wrote for Carry On called Silence the Voices, which is really kind of an ethereal, I guess, sort of... poetic, anti-war and Iraq song. But the music is just sort of eerily, almost kind of pink, floaty and melodic. And it's super fun to sing. And it's a song I haven't done so much that I've gotten sick of. But sometimes I'll open a set with it because it doesn't make any sense at all to open a set with it. It starts out very slow and dramatic. And it's not a song a lot of people know because it wasn't something that ever got played on the radio. And the subject matter is kind of serious. But it's one of those songs. That's the beauty, I suppose, of being able to write songs for a living. And you're also the performer. I can sort of think about what would I like to sing? What am I missing when I go on stage, when I'm doing a set? And what style of singing do I not do enough? Like when I wrote the song for the James Bond theme, there were two directions that I could go. And one of them was, this is a really aggressive...
James Bond by far way more. This guy's way tougher than any other woman. So I could go super tough. But then I thought, you know, there's a side of me, there's like a crooner side that I don't really get to do that much. And I love singing in that style as well. And so I steered more into that. And that's a song that I love to do live. Do you think I Am The Highway was kind of in that vein? I Am The Highway to me was a little of that, had a little country in it, and had a little blues. of, I guess, in it. That song is super fun to sing. And for some reason, we didn't do that a lot. Hey, Chris, I wanted to ask you, because we were talking about the Billie Jean cover and all that stuff. On American Idol, when that kid did it, what did you think of that? Because that was a big deal. This kid on American Idol, he does the Billie Jean deal. He's the guy that won, actually. And he did, I mean, he did your cover. It was your arrangement. It was everything. What did you think of it? Well, I thought he did great. The first thing that happened was all my fans were going on fan sites screaming. Even though it was introduced as Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean, that goes by on TV so fast. And there's people talking. It sounded kind of like... And then this guy goes and sings it. And the judges were basically...
telling me he's a genius. And my fans were going on fan forums and screaming about it. And through that pressure, basically, I think they came back on the show and reiterated where he got the idea from. And it was so awkward. The next night, Ryan Seacrest had to very awkwardly make sure that they reiterated that it was Chris Cornell who originally did this arrangement. The thing about it that I thought was cool was this is like a This is a singing contest on TV that's like one of the widest watched TV shows of all time. And this kid's career basically can kind of hang in the balance. And he thinks his best bet to do well on this show in front of millions and millions of people is to do my version of that song. I can't complain about that. That's pretty cool. It is pretty cool. And I urge anybody that has never heard the song Sun Shower to download it today, if you can. It's Chris Cornell for a movie called Great Expectations. It's on the soundtrack. And it's really an amazing, amazing vocal performance, but it's a beautiful song, too. That's the first thing I did after the breakup of Soundgarden, actually. That was the first thing you did after you guys broke up? Yeah, I did that and then went into...
Let's listen for a second. Where does the garbage truck happen? It's in there. It's just in there somewhere? Yeah, it's in there. That's right. A garbage truck goes by. He left it in the song. That's amazing. Hey, listen, Chris, I don't want to take up too much of your time. I know you're on your way. You're doing the Tonight Show tonight, and we definitely appreciate you taking the time to come on, and we just really appreciate your voice, man. Thanks very much. Absolutely. Thanks, man. We'll see you later. Chris Cornell. Such a cool dude. Yeah, right? This is a packed day today. Dude. I'm wiped out. With Danny and Tomlinson and Chris Cornell all in one day. Blunder.
And Boy Blunder. That is how you do that. And Boy Blunder. Very nice. At the end of the show on Friday, I do something called my testimony. I tell you about my story. Tell you a little bit about what's happened in my life. And for those of you that have never heard it, it's very unusual for a lot of radio stations for you to hear something like this. And so sometimes I like to remind people that anger is... Hurt, sadness, and fear. And the reason that I say that sometimes before I give my testimony, and I don't say it all the time, but I say it sometimes because every once in a while, people have been upset. So sometimes I mention that. A childhood that for many people that hear me give my testimony, you say, well, that wasn't anywhere in the realm of how bad my childhood was. And for some people, it may be.
a worse experience than you went through. But it's my experience and that's why I share it with you. I share it with you because sometimes there's people in the audience that can relate and they say, okay, that's what it was like for me too. So what happened with you? I experienced sexual abuse when I was five years old. When I was 10 years old, I went through a period of, I guess what you could call, although some people, maybe they wouldn't. I can tell you that as I was growing up, I felt extraordinarily lonely. And when I was 18 years old, I moved out of the house for the first time. This was before there was things like internet and MySpace and instant message, stuff like that. So I was very lonely. I know that there's people that are listening right now that are experiencing great loneliness. And that's a very, very empty feeling. When I was in my late 20s,
I started to drink pretty heavily. In my 30s, I was completely addicted to alcohol. I became so addicted to alcohol that I was getting sick and I was drinking. I was getting sick and I was drinking. That I was going to die. Probably wasn't going to take that long. I was very overweight and I was smoking cigarettes. And I was drinking so much that it was starting to wear my esophagus. Jesus Christ had come into my life. my life and changed my life. I was essentially taking my hands off the steering wheel and allowing him to take over. It was a process, a process that's still going on even today. Still going through this process of change. But there is a lot of change going on. The other reason that I tell you this story is to hopefully offer people. There are people that are listening right now that are addicted to alcohol or that are addicted to
Crystal, there are people that are listening right now that have eating disorders and you've never told anybody. Maybe they have no idea that even your own family members don't have any idea that you're going through an addiction or that you have an eating disorder. There are people that are listening right now that are experiencing clinical depression. And for those of you that are not clinically depressed, you just have no idea what that feels like. But I know that there are people that are listening that feel hopeless. Which is to say that they feel like there's no reason for them to even want to get better. And I've been in that position where I felt hopeless. There are people that are listening that have lost a loved one. A mother or a father or a husband or a wife. They're going through a divorce or somebody's died. There are people that are listening.
that are really, really sick. And you feel hopeless. Every Friday at the end of the show, we play a song from a band called Third Day. And the song's called Tunnel. And I can tell you that it came through all of that stuff. Feelings of low self-esteem and insecurity from sexual abuse when I was a kid or feelings of neglect or just overall emptiness and loneliness and addiction. All of those things that made a person into someone with entirely too much low self-esteem. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life to start doing all kinds of cool stuff. It changed me into a different person. I'm literally today, I look like a different person. I talk like a different person. I'm an entirely different person that is not void of hope.
And that can be you. I promise you it can. If you go to my website, it's www.mikieshow.com. There's a space on there that says keyword. Type in the word help. And if you're dealing with any of the kind of stuff that I've talked about over the last few minutes, you can find help for all of those things. There's resources for all of those things. I promise you that it could be better. And that's why I play the song called Tunnel. Tunnel. Really, really listen to the words of the song. It's got really, really hopeful lyrics. And as you listen to the words of the song, know that that can be you. And check out that help page. Lovely and talented Missy is coming up next. And we'll talk to you again on Monday morning. The Mikey Show is out. Hey.
