The Mikey Show broadcast live from the Olympic Training Center, where Eddie beat Boston Rob in a chaotic Greco-Roman wrestling bit but Rob won the 100-meter dash and a sudden-death archery contest while dressed as Robin Hood. Mikey, Sky, and the crew also sparred over Barack Obama's nomination speech and John McCain's surprise selection of Sarah Palin, arguing about inspiration, experience, and electoral strategy. Olympic champions Al Joyner and Natalie Coughlin described the pressure and emotion of winning medals, while Ashley's chronic lateness triggered a serious on-air argument about accountability. Mikey closed by recounting his alcoholism, his Christian recovery, and his message of hope to listeners facing addiction.
What happened, in order
Ashley Arrives Late
Ashley arrived late to the remote broadcast, prompting Mikey to argue that her repeated lateness showed she did not care and to consider suspending or firing her.
Obama Speech Debate
Sky praised Barack Obama's nomination speech as inspiring, while Mikey questioned whether its promises would become reality and challenged the effort to put experience off limits.
Infomercial Confessions
Mikey admitted buying a Jack LaLanne juicer, a rotisserie, and classic-rock DVDs from infomercials, then using each purchase only about twice.
The Singlet Reveal
Eddie and Boston Rob emerged in revealing wrestling singlets, leaving Mikey and Sky horrified as the two competitors played up the awkward spectacle.
Greco-Roman Chaos
Eddie and Boston Rob ignored coach Gabe's Greco-Roman instructions, staged pro-wrestling antics, and ended with Eddie pinning Rob for the first event win.
Al Joyner's Gold
Al Joyner recalled winning the 1984 Olympic triple jump as an underdog and sharing history with his medal-winning sister Jackie Joyner-Kersee.
Coughlin Defends Gold
Natalie Coughlin described the pain of defending her Olympic swimming title and the uncontrollable tears that came when the gold medal was placed around her neck.
Palin Pick Breaks
The crew reacted live to John McCain selecting Sarah Palin, arguing that her brief record as Alaska governor weakened his experience case against Barack Obama and looked like a play for Hillary Clinton voters.
The 100-Meter Dash
Boston Rob easily beat Eddie in the 100-meter race, after which Eddie collapsed into the grass, gasped for breath, and insisted the race had been close.
B-Robin Hood
Boston Rob competed in archery dressed as Robin Hood and ultimately beat Eddie in a tense series of tied shoot-offs decided by the final arrow.
Podium Meltdown
During the medal ceremony Eddie pantsed Boston Rob, received a silver medal labeled "worst," and threw it away while Rob celebrated his overall victory.
Mikey's Testimony
Mikey closed the show by recounting his alcoholism, saying faith in Jesus Christ transformed his life, and offering hope to listeners struggling with addiction and anger.

Yeah. All right, folks, welcome to the program.
It's 6.05. Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of over 80,000 people last night when he accepted the Democratic nomination for president. He's back. The NFL has reinstated Pac-Man Jones for the season opener. Is that true? Pac-Man's back. Yeah, you're kidding me. Plays for the Cowboys, right? That is correct. Oh, my. He's been a good boy. That's good. That's good. I love to hear a success story. Wow. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Yeah.
He's been, I guess, staying out of trouble, so I hope he keeps staying out of trouble. And testimony, we'll see you on Monday. Okay. uh folks welcome to the show we are at the olympic training center in chula vista and if you live in the south bay you should come down here and see us yeah anybody can come down as a matter of fact when you drive up uh into the entrance there's a thing right there a sign that says uh event parking park you you're gonna see the rock 105.3 uh tent set up where We're broadcasting, and, man, we're looking at all of the different events right now.
Archery, 100-meter dash, and wrestling. It's all going to happen right here, Greco-Roman wrestling. The reason that we're here is Eddie and B-Rob do these physical challenges against each other. They've been doing it for about a year, year and a half. And this is, we've kind of been culminating, I really believe, to this moment. Yes, I agree. They've been working all this time to come and compete olympically. So that's where we are right now. It's the highlight of my career. Oh, wow.
Well, congratulations. Thank you. Today might be the low light of mine. I think it is because I really got this feeling like, wow, Rob's going to get beaten badly today. Wait, Mike. I did. I got this feeling. That's not nice to say. You too? I got the same feeling. No, no, that's not good. I had trouble sleeping. That is not good. You had trouble sleeping? Yeah. Oh, okay. I hate losing. I know, but did you consider, like, at some point that you were going to win, Rob? Is that the deal? I would have thought you would have slept like a baby. No. See, I did.
Yeah, Eddie did. Eddie did. In fact, I'm still a little tired. Yeah. I would have thought it would have been a deal like, this won't be hot. I go in there, I lose, I go home, I get some lunch. If I slept like a baby, you mean every two hours got up and cried, then yes. All right. That's fair enough. That's fair enough. All right. Let's introduce everybody and get the show on the road. Hi. My name is Mikey. And, oh, the address here, by the way, 2600 Olympic Parkway. So if you want to come down here, just take the Olympic Parkway off the 805. Just go east.
Yeah, just drive east. We'll see it. Drive for a while. It's 2,800. 2,800? 2,800. All right, 2,800. No wonder my nav didn't work right. Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah, like about three or four blocks away, it said, you're here. Well, no. Congratulations. And I was like, not quite. I was like, wow, it's smaller than I imagined. Yeah, this is a shopping center. Walmart, really? All right. 2,800 Olympic Parkway. Okay, so let's introduce everybody. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show, and I'm 38 years old. Eddie is our producer, our sports guy.
He's 35 years old, still in the peak of his physical performance. Oh, man. Now, Eddie, did you know that males are the strongest, physical strength are the strongest between 28 and 40 years old? Okay. Physical strength. I appreciate that. So you're right. That's a made-up statistic. It's not a made-up statistic. I know I have it slightly wrong, but I'm so close that it doesn't matter. Well, I feel strong. Unfortunately, I did decide to try on the wrestling singlet. Oh, no.
Yesterday. The onesie? Yes. It is a onesie. Didn't leave much to the imagination, did it? That thing is revealing. I'm not going to lie to you. And, wow, I am out of shape. Oh, wow. Yeah, kind of look like the big show. Okay, all right. Well, yeah. Luckily, I'm taking on the midget wrestlers. So, that'll be interesting. But, wow, that is embarrassing. Rob, the exact opposite. He floats in his, and it's an extra small. Toddler size.
That's right. Well, here is the deal. We will be here all morning along. We're going to be talking to Olympic athletes. It's going to be a lot of fun. It's awesome. Let's see. Sky is our news girl. She is 30 years old. Hi, Mike. And she watched a little of the Democratic National Convention last night. Oh, it was so good. We'll talk about it in a minute. I don't even know. Let's see. Shawnee, oh boy. Hi. He is our sound effects man. And he is in San Francisco, in a high-rise building in San Francisco.
We couldn't be further apart right now. We're right down by the Mexican border, and he is in San Francisco. And Ashley, where's Ashley? What? I'm guessing lost. She's not here? What? No, and I think Eddie was telling me he, like, gave her a specific game plan. Like, you need to leave at this time to get here at this time. But just for the record, I have no comment on this whatsoever, because the last time I said something, when she wasn't here. Come on. We're all friends.
Things happen. I told her she had to leave at a specific time. What time did you say? I said, if you leave the station by 5.30, no later, you will be here in time. I would have thought by the skin of her teeth. It should only have taken her 20 minutes from the station to get down here. She's got a lot of stuff to do, guys. Just lay off. Come on. Okay. Here we go. Here it is. Look at Mike's face right now. Sometimes we just have to accept people and love them for who they are.
You know, Mike? Are you talking about Ashley? Wow. Yeah. In that regard? Yeah. Well, yeah. She's late places. Oh, Skye, but that happens too much. It's her bit. It's not funny. It's a running bit. But the bit doesn't work, the bit. It doesn't work? Okay. We have her on the line, Zeth, just I am me. Put her up. Put her up, Zeth. She should be there. Are you there? Ash? Are all the buttons pressed in on the board?
Yeah, it's the S-A-S-O-T. Can you hear me? Yeah. What's the matter with you? Where are you? Where are we? oh here we go okay turning into it man this place is like in china it's 6 11. can you hear me ash can you hear me oh she may be on her bluetooth she may be on her bluetooth so maybe oh here i am see oh there she is hi hi little girl here i am i just wanted to I called because I never thought I'd find a freaking place, but I'm here.
Oh, see, it's all over. What's the matter with you? Okay. Wow. I can't hear you guys very well, so I'm just going to walk up because I can't hear anything. She's on the Bluetooth. Okay, bye. Oh, boy. Oh, wow. Remember when we were in the office and I was talking to Shauna and I was like, I'm so sick of the fact that it's always the Mikey show that's so stupid. And we never have anything figured out, and it's always us that look stupid. Remember that?
Yes. And I was all mad, and, you know, and Shauna was like, Mikey, I know. And I'm sitting here, and I'm just like, man, we are stupid all the time. We're working on it. It's a work of progress. I know, but how long do you work on it before it's, like, right, you know? Well, look how pretty she looks. Look at those bangs. Those are beautiful. She's learning. What's the matter with you? Everything. Everything. Remember last time when you were late and you were like, yeah, I don't want to do it anymore.
What happened? Oh, turn it on on the bottom, Ash. Yeah. Okay. Or not. Or hello. Yeah. See, listeners can see my face right now. Can you guys tell that I really am upset? Erica, do you guys think I'm joking? Loud and clear. So what's going on? Why were you 10 minutes late instead of 10 minutes early? Because I left 10 minutes after Eddie told me to. Why? Um, I don't know. Like, something's really wrong with me because the 5.30 passed,
and I'm like, I should be leaving right now, and then I'm like, you know, kind of just double-checking everything. It's really possible Ashley may. have a relaxing week next week. It's a very relaxing week at home. She may. I'm going to talk to Shauna today and see what we do. I'm not sure because it's ridiculous. It's 10 after. Come on. It's 14 after. We got to do something. Something's got to be done. Even Ashley knows. She's like, yeah, Mike, you should fire me. She has it on her face. I should.
I don't know if she thinks that. Come on. We're going to have a lot of fun today, Mike. We are. Yes, we are. But I'm already mad and upset. There's a lot of fun things. And it's Ashley's fault. There's a lot of fun things. Because she can't leave on time. She doesn't care. She doesn't care. Explain it to me. Be her advocate. She doesn't care. I believe she does care. I got here 10 minutes early. I'm the host of the show. She got here 10 minutes late. I believe she, her primary job, well, not her primary job, but a lot of what she does is behind the scenes.
Figure it out. So that's why she was, she cares so much. That's why she was double-checking. Figure it out. Figure it out to the point where you do what Eddie tells you and you leave on time, right? Yeah, you're absolutely right. And give me a break. Every single thing that we do where we're out live doing a broadcast, she's late every time. It's ridiculous. All right, let's move on. Oh, my gosh. We are so dysfunctional. We are the most dysfunctional family, I know.
Come on Alright, alright You tell me what to talk about that'll change my mood Did we finish doing the intros? I don't think we did the intros yet I think you left off on Ashley I stopped on Ash Ashley is 20 Ashley is our assistant producer She's 25 years old She is learning Learning some hard lessons In life She's 25.
Boston Rob. Hey. Oh, look at that little guy. No, I want to disappear. I want to disappear. I do. And he's going to body slam me today. Yeah, he is. I am, I did. I mean, he really is. Will that tickle me, Skye? Oh, oh, yeah. Are we going to do that first? Because you're going to love that. I know. I mean, maybe they should just warm up right now. Something. I think my plan is just to stay far away from him when we wrestle. Well, you have to stay in that circle.
Okay. Rob's just going to be running around the circle. You can tire me up. Yeah, that's true. It's a good plan. Hope he passes out on his own. Oh, no. Let's see. And then there is Roosevelt, Zethian, Oates III, Junior, Esquire, MD, DDS, Inc. Wow. Nice. Rosie. Important. That's right. Rosie is 23.
What does that mean? And is back at the radio station running the controls for us. Yep. And Rosie, are you there? Yep. All right, cool. Hi. Uh, he is our eyes and ears while we're out here. So, uh, he will keep us all dialed in. Do we have any phone calls coming in? Yeah, we got a few. Okay. 570-1053 is a phone number. Uh, call us at the beginning and end of every show and, uh, get ahold of us. Uh, let's see.
Let's take a couple of calls. All right. Hit a line for me. You're good. Mikey show. Hello. Hello. Can you hear me? Uh-oh. Working out the bugs, Mike. Yeah, bad start. Bad start. We're going to get there, you guys. Hey, I love that your show has so many issues because it makes it seem so genuine. Oh, it is. It's very genuine. Hey, can you hear me, bro? I love it. I love you guys have all the help desk. Ashley can never make it in on time. Great. She's a mess.
Can you hear me? I can hear you. Can you hear me? Okay, good. Good, good. Now I can hear you. You can hear me, and we can hear each other. Everyone's hearing. Everyone's here. It's just like everybody's family at home, except different. But it's just like your family at home. It's just like my family at home. Yep. Yes. Yes. Yes. Have a great show. Thank you very much. I'm sure we will. Yes, I am hopeful. Sky knows how to calm me down. She's known me for many years.
she's a very calming force in my life i'll admit it sky say stuff sometimes it makes me go yeah yeah yeah yeah you know because anger what is anger it's hurt sadness and or fear okay which one do i feel right now help me get in touch with me fear right here's the fear you're gonna kill her Here's the fear. That made me laugh. Fear. Is it fear? Yes. It is? Yes.
Oh, okay. Because I would have said hurt. Yes, that too. I would have said sadness. There's no sadness. There is no sadness. No. No. No. It's hurt and fear. And hurt that'll kill her. Or fear that'll kill her. And then hurt that she did it again. Let's see. Let's hit another line, Seth. Mikey Show. Hello. Hey there, guys. and gals you know mike i'm going to tell you i completely think that ashley needs to be suspended at least one week and that begins next week that kind of behavior of not being punctual in a professional atmosphere is entirely unacceptable and you've accepted it way too long and if you continue to do it you're just going to be an enabler so take care of it now hang up on it
we're just i mean we're almost past it we're almost i mean we're so we're so close we're so clouds. Well, Monday is a holiday. What do you suggest with that, sir? Suspender for Monday. Oh. He's gone? Yeah. Can you call back, sir? No. You don't want to talk to that guy. My finger slipped. Let's go to the next line. Mikey Show. Hello. Hey, Mikey. I was wondering if you guys drafted your fantasy league yet. Yeah, that is next
week. Oh, it is next week? Yep. I drafted last night in one of my leagues. You did, Eddie? Yeah. Who do you got? Well, it's 12-person league, and I chose ninth, which is like the worst. Because it's not even... 12-person league? Well, yeah. Because it wasn't even 12th where you get to snake around. Right. I'm like ninth. I'm like, ugh. Snake around? And so... Did you get Terrell Owens? No. I drafted Larry Johnson. Yeah.
And then came back around and got Marshawn Lynch. Yeah. Which aren't two of my favorite guys, but that's really all I could do at that point. My quarterback's Carson Palmer. And I rolled the dice with my receivers, which I usually don't do. I took some risks. I drafted Antonio Gates. Yeah. Please, Toe, be okay. Yeah, Toe. Please, Toe, be okay. Please, Toe, be okay. And last night, I drafted Brandon Marshall with the hopes, you know, after three games, he would come back. But then I got home and was on ESPN.com and saw that the commissioner reduced his suspension to just one game. So the gamble has already paid off.
You're good to go. Oh, look at you. So my team's okay, but we'll see. Hmm. I like it. And then when we draft, we do a clear channel, like a Rock 105 draft in a conference room sometime next week. And when we do it, they're going to let us pull our numbers right there, which is different. We trust that system more than Russell pulling in his office. Really? Alone. That's what he wanted to do. Alone.
Alone in his office with the door closed. Why? We don't know why. He just said, what's the problem? What's the issue with that? Hey, guys, I pulled myself first. I'm going to be going first. I'm so lucky. This afternoon, I guess you just call me a lucky guy. My best friend pulled second. That's right. I don't know how that happened, but it's really cool. It just worked out that way. Eddie, Mikey, you guys are last. That's weird. Oh, darn. We got another phone call ringing? Yep. Mikey, hello.
Hey, I just wanted to talk to Rob about the refoid match today. Go ahead. Okay. Yo, Rob, you have the complete potential to own Eddie today. Okay, between you and me. I don't want anyone else hearing. What do I do? I believe you can do it. I mean, you're fat, and you can totally take him down. I think you're mixing up wrestling and racing. Yeah, he's fast. But Eddie outpowers him.
Oh, yeah. By lot. Eddie picked him up the other day and put him over his head for fun. For fun. For fun, Mike. We're going to have a lot of fun today. Oh, okay. Oh, this is going to be great. Now I'm happy. I really want to watch this. I think we should do this for just four hours, just them wrestling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll get tired. Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista, 2800 Olympic Parkway. And when you're driving east, the entrance is going to be on your right. Just drive up.
It says event parking. You park, and you can come and hang out and watch us. And we're going to be talking to Olympic athletes this morning, too. What I really hope is that they bring some of those medals. I want to see a medal up close, see what happens. it like feels like how heavy it is that kind of deal sky watched uh last night sky watched the democratic national convention and said that when obama spoke wow it was so powerful that she almost wanted to cry she said a couple times i mean a couple different times it was so dumb i mean i just i don't mean to insult anybody but if you don't vote for obama you're a total moron
You're a loser. You're a moron. You hate America. These are my feelings if you don't vote for him. He is so inspirational. He's going to make America so much better than it ours is. Now, wait a second. Now, the first thing that you said after saying, if you don't vote for Barack Obama, you're a moron. The first thing you said was, he's inspirational. He is. He inspires me to want to go out into our community and make San Diego a better place. because of all the, you know, ideas he has for America. And, you know, last night he was talking about, you know, it's not just him.
It's all of us working together in our own communities to make things better. I think that's awesome. Cut 10. Cut 10. Is Sean still there? I'm playing it. Oh, man, I can't hear it. I can't hear it. Zeth, what do we got pressed or not pressed that we can't hear it? It looks like everything's normal. I can't even hear it. That's weird because Sean and the audio come through the same place. So if we're hearing Sean, why aren't we hearing the audio?
Sean, you know what's up? No, you're not hearing it? Uh-uh. You can hear it, Sean? Yeah. It's a good question, Rob. We're problem solving. It's a good question. You got to figure it out. You can't hear my voice, but you can't hear that audio. Exactly. Yeah. Check if it's plugged in. Wow. And then make sure the volume is up. Sean's playing it on his iPhone. He didn't mention that. He didn't mention that. On his Walkman. Yes. He's enjoying it. Walkman, by the way. Thank you. Very, very popular.
I'll do the clip for you. Okay. How's it go? We are about to change the course of America. What I want is for every person in America to have millions of billions and gajillions of dollars. I must have missed that part of the speech. Gold toilet paper. Huh. That's weird. And not have to ever touch a garbage disposal because it's gross. It's gross. So I will have people come over and do gross stuff for you.
Oh, really? Never again will you wipe. Wait. Never again will. Myself? exactly i heard you out there in the audience you'll never have to touch a garbage disposal it's not it's not really that bad it's just if there's ever stuff in your navel oh my gosh someone else will get it oh it's like i was there it was so good my brother mark must have been euphoric Yeah, I'm sure he was.
How infuriating. It was beautiful, Mike. Even Republicans can't deny that he's a powerful speaker. And he has a lot of very, you know, encouraging things that he says that sound so wonderful. But will they really happen? Will they happen? Will they? And he had a great way of going after McCain without looking like a total jerk. You know what I mean? Because he's such a good speaker. I saw that. I was in the kitchen. Yeah. I was in the kitchen and I was eating a drumstick. Oh, what kind was in the middle? Was it like caramel or hot fudge? It was caramel because Rebecca didn't know that I don't want anything in the middle.
I just want it. I want an original drumstick. I don't know why they got fancy. Why'd they feel that it was necessary to stick stuff in that? I don't care for that opinion. But the thing worked, Sky, for, you know. I mean, that's just ice cream cone. That's just ice cream cone. It was first invented in 1392, the drumstick. I agree with that. That's a made-up statistic. 1392. read a book by steven drumstick yeah rob and i read it yesterday in a book oh really great big book pop-ups and all book of desserts cool and i turned the tv on and i said i know he's speaking right now and they're showing the audience and obviously the beatles are getting off the airplane
in 1960 whatever right girls with their hands up to the sides of their face screaming with tears streaming down their face. I mean, like 85,000 people. And in a very, very, very brilliant move, and I mean it, the stage was decorated where he was standing to look very White House-y. Oh, yeah. To look very presidential. The blue carpet with the, like, stars around it. Now, they moved, right, to Mile High Stadium. In Vesco Field. Yeah. And he was saying, and I want to say to McCain that this should be, An election where we don't get personal, and we don't attack someone's credentials.
And I was like, hmm, yeah, we should both agree to do that. We should agree to not point out if somebody hasn't been in the Senate very long. We should agree to that. Come on. And don't ask me any questions. Yes, we should agree to not talk about the issues. Opposite. He said he looked forward to debating McCain. Let's not discuss things that matter, but rather things that feel good in your heart. Let's talk about when TV shows like Little House on the Prairie were on.
Remember when you would watch it and you'd feel good? Yeah. Sometimes you would finish watching an episode, you couldn't tell anybody what you actually saw, but man, did it feel good. Let's also agree to not use the word Obama. Wait, what? Or he. Or that guy. Or him. Okay. Clowns. We cool? Oh, wow. Obama in 08. What up? Hey, Sky, did McCain mess it all up and rude? No, actually, I saw on CNN because I watched the CNN thing because, like, the major networks just run, you know, like an edited version and CNN runs, like, the whole thing, like, the whole seven hours or whatever.
So they said that McCain had just issued a statement yesterday saying he would not announce his vice presidential pick yesterday because that was the rumor that he was going to try and upstage Obama. So we should find out today, though, who McCain is picking for his running mate. This guy said the three people yesterday that he was thinking about, the people were thinking that he was thinking about, were Mitt Romney, Joe Lieberman, and someone I've never heard of. Exactly.
And that's actually the guy's name. Felicia Rashad. Yes. Felicia Rashad. What if he actually picked Felicia Rashad? That would be awesome. And even she was surprised. Whoa. Hey. I can't, you know, she calls her husband, what's his name, former football player? Dr. Huxley. Ahmaud Rashad. Ahmaud, she calls Ahmaud. Close. And Ahmaud's on his cell phone going, get out of here. Really? Oh, snap. He says, oh, snap.
Nice. All right, let's take a timeout. 570-1053 is the number, so you can call us. We would love to hear from you. And we'll get this thing on the road, man. And we are broadcasting live from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. If you want to come down here, anybody's welcome to come down. All you do is take the 805, get off on Olympic Parkway, head east, and you'll go, I don't know, about five miles down the road or so. It's exactly six. Exactly six miles down the road. And you will make a right into the Olympic Training Center. And there are signs that say event parking, so just park and come hang out with us.

So I went down to the insurance company in Escondido to see what they could do for me. And they saved me $130 a month, man. I couldn't believe it. That's so great. They say Corona Lite is the only light beer that's also a Corona. That's a statement we can all understand, right? You, sir, with the boogie board. Yeah, dude. Why is Corona Lite the only light beer that's also a Corona? Corona Lite's epic, brah. When the lime carves a sweet ride down the neck, it's sick.
Sick is good, right? The only thing better is snaking some way from a kook and dropping in with a killer cutback down the barrel. Dude, it's all light and tasty. Oh, of course. Corona Lite's some sweet nectar, brah. I'd eat some major Fem to get in that soup, you know. Oh, I love foaming my soup. Dude. Sorry, I tried. Now we all understand that Corona Light is the only light beer that's also a Corona because it's refreshing, ready-for-the-beach taste is available in a light beer. The same could be said of our water. Since 1873, legendary Coors Banquet has been made with Rocky Mountain water. Only Rocky Mountain water.
It's ice cold, high altitude snow melt. And it flows through nature's very own filtration system, the mountain itself. And it's perfect for brewing one mighty fine beer. So why do we hold our beer to a higher standard? Because we know you're likely to do the same. Which may be why more folks these days are saying, give me a banquet. Coors, a banquet beer. Coors Brewing Company, Golden, Colorado. And remember, you hold the key.

Actor David Duchovny released a statement yesterday that he has entered treatment for sex addiction. Well, not since 1968 has the number one woman lost in the second round of the U.S. Open until yesterday when Anna Ivanovic made history losing to the 188th ranked Julie Coyne. Oh, wow. I mean, I think that maybe one of us could have beat the 188th ranked, right? you never know i don't think so but yeah big upset uh let's see so sky what is the deal with david dukovny uh what does it mean to be a sex addict i don't really know i guess you're addicted
to sex i mean that's pretty much you know i mean you like have to have a lot of sex or because i was thinking about it this morning and i was like does that mean that you are addicted to all things sex like sex websites and like uh strip clubs and stuff that has to do with stuff yeah well yeah that would definitely be something to look into right i think we were gonna go there but yeah yeah i think i think you're right i mean i don't 100 know but that sounds right to me um yesterday uh duchovny's lawyer released a statement from him saying quote i have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction addiction i ask for
respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family now he's married to teia leone they've been married since 97 they have uh two kids and it's kind of weird because uh his show that he has on showtime californication is kind of about this guy who um an author who struggles to repeat the success of his first book because he's constantly distracted by sex really so that's pretty you know weird hey that remember the cop that uh the canine died in his car the dog died in his car what's the deal with this guy because uh i know that they were
going to they're in the middle of figuring out what was going to happen to him yeah well if you don't remember this story um it was back in june june 20th and this officer left his canine uh partner out in the car and it was about 108 degrees that day and they think that the dog may have been in the car with the windows rolled up for as long as seven hours yeah the dog died of heat stroke so uh yesterday um in court he pled no contest um to one misdemeanor count of leaving a dog in a confined vehicle causing death so he was sentenced to three years probation and he He has to pay a fine of $411.
He was also ordered to pay the San Diego Police Department about $5,000, which I guess is like the cost of the dog, and also will have to perform $100. hours of community service at a non-profit there you go yeah tropical storm gustav gustav is still on course to uh slam into the united states from the gulf of mexico oh man i just and they don't know where right no somewhere between texas and florida and we all know right well we don't maybe we don't all know but we should all know that right in between texas and florida is louisiana
which, you know, obviously Hurricane Katrina, everybody remembers that. They say Gustav could make a landfall early next week as a Category 3 with winds of over 110 miles per hour. That is really bad. So, I mean, they're already taking preemptive measures, you know, with sick and elderly getting them ready. So if they need to evacuate, they can just, you know, do it really, really quick. Lars says that St. Anger had to happen. In order for Death Magnetic to be this great.
Yeah, great. What does that mean? I don't know. Yeah, just like what you said, he said that St. Anger, quote, had to happen for them to make Death Magnetic. He says if it wasn't for St. Anger, then Death Magnetic wouldn't sound the way it does today. And, you know, if you can't find anything to musically appreciate, he respects it. But, you know, you got to at least respect the presence of St. Anger because they wouldn't be where they are today without it. Yuck. Hey, Shawnee, how are we doing with audio?
Is that thing working yet or we're still having issues? We're still working on it. I'm still. I wonder what the deal is. Do you know what the problem is? No. Both of us are stumped, so we're trying everything right now. Did Sean's computer get an STD or something? Oh, Sean, your computer got an STD. Oh, from David Duchovny. You were not using, yeah, PC rubbers. Hey, yesterday in San Diego, I guess a covered walkway collapsed downtown. What?
Dude, so you guys know, like, those covered walkways on construction sites? Like, say they're doing construction on a big building and the sidewalk is right there. Well, they don't want, like, a piece of wood falling on your head, so they do these, like, covered walkways. They used to have them right next. The wooden ones? Yeah, they used to have one, like, right next to Petco when they were doing, yeah, so exactly like that. Well, this one was in the East Village, 15th and Imperial, and there were about 20 people walking on the walkway, just a normal day, you know, a little bit after noon yesterday, and the whole thing collapsed right on top of them. Three people were critically injured. Do they know what the deal was with it?
No, they're investigating. They basically have no idea why it just collapsed. And, you know, so there's like, you know, ambulances and stretchers on the street and people laying, you know, bleeding in the street. It's awful. It was just horrible. They say about 15 people were injured. There were a total of 20 people in the walkway at the time of the collapse. And, you know, obviously there's going to be a really big investigation into why this happened. Yeah, probably. Talk about it. Hey, we're getting the hardcore P1s are already out here right now. P1 Scooby's here, and we got some hardcore P1s that are already out.
We're at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, and there's a lot of people that are still filing in. We still have cars coming out here right now. So we want to invite everybody. If you are in the Chula Vista area and you're a P1, you should absolutely be here. You get off on 805 on Olympic Parkway, and six miles in, on the right, you're going to see the Olympic Training Center. Eddie and B-Rob are going to be competing against each other today. Oh, I'm going to give it my all. Man, your confidence is overwhelming.
What happened, Rob? I thought you were, like, all about it. I don't know. I'm just like, Eddie's much bigger than me. That's what it comes down to. Wait a minute. This wrestling thing. Like, now I'm nervous. Let's talk through this, Rob. Please, because in my head, I'm like, you suck. Let's talk through it. I'm going to change, I'm going to turn that frown upside down. Are you ready? Yeah, I am ready. Here's what you do. All right. On the mat, when you're doing the Greco-Roman, try to use your speed for whatever you could do with your speed.
Oh, wow. That was inspiring. It was like new Rocky. Now, when you do the 100-meter dash, come on, Rob, you can. Yeah, you're going to kill it. Be fast, right? Right? Come on. If you don't beat me in that, dude, you're like, something's wrong with you. I mean, I realize your shoes don't have any shoe strings, but you could give it a shot. Have you seen his shoes? Can I show you my running shoes? Oh, you don't want to see those shoes. Sean does not want to see those shoes. A hobo wouldn't wear these. Let me see. Let me see. Dude, these things are so brutal. Oh, my goodness. Gross. They have holes in the sole.
Oh, my goodness. Look at that. They're completely shredded on the bottom. And I know that this isn't, like, to be funny. I know that's what he's got. Dude, this is what I work out with. Are you serious? I go on the treadmill. Yeah. That's so weird. Rob, why not a new pair of shoes when they have holes in where the big toe is? What am I, Bill Gates, Mike? Come on. Bill Gates, yes. Dude, even Kenyan runners have better shoes than those. Yeah, obviously you need to be Bill Gates to be able to buy a pair of shoes. I know. And then finally, archery. So talk to me about archery, Rob.
Because this was going to be the wild card, right? I think it still is just... Tell them what happened. What happened? What happened? I just envisioned it to be like darts, and it's not. And Eddie was over there. Why would you envision that? Because Rob thought you held the arrow in your hand and threw it. Yeah, and you just throw it. Throw it right at the board. We had a little tutorial before the show started. Yeah. And I walked up and hit two bullseyes, and Rob barely hit the target. Oh, really? I'm in his head a little bit already. Oh, no, Rob. A little bit? Well. Come on, Rob.
I'm sorry. A lot of it. I'll try hard to miss. How many arrows do you think that you guys will shoot in order, or will it just be one arrow to decide who is closer to the bullseye? We'll do a few, but we'll ask our coach what, like, how it's scored and stuff, because that I don't know. Because you guys have coaches. For every event. For every single thing you're doing this morning, which is great. Yeah, it's really cool. We're going to be talking to some actual Olympic athletes out here this morning. So come out here and just for no other reason to just hang with us.
It should be a pretty good time. We're going to take a quick time out, come back to the Olympic Training Center. We're broadcasting live. Mikey's show is out here live. And so come on out here, and we'll talk to you here in just a few. It's the Mikey Show. I couldn't give a rip about the wrestling, But to see you and Rob in singlets. Listen, I know you're horny. Take it easy.
That's not what I mean. Sky, is that it? You can't wait to see those muscles. I can't control my horny level. I just think it'll be hilarious. Take a lot of photos, please. Yes, yes. Will you shush? All right, well, welcome back. I'm going to, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go home today. I am going to take out my Jack LaLanne juicer. Um, I'm sorry, I'm going to take, and I'm going to, I'm going to get some apples. I'm going to get some, I'm going to make my own, uh, I call it a soothe. Have I ever told you guys about this?
Who's Jack LaLanne? Who's Jack LaLanne? Thank you, Skye. Who? Who is that? Are you guys for real? Eddie, you guys are crazy, right? I don't. Well, when I was about 12 years old, Jack LaLanne was approximately 75. OK, but I'm 38 now. He's like 50 or he's like 79 years old, 80, 90 years old. And he's still around and kicking because he drinks juice. Well, yeah, that I mean, he's very, very fitness oriented.
He's like a fitness guru from back in the day. But he's he's literally like in his 90s and he still runs marathons. Wow. Yeah. And he claims it's because of juice. Well, he claims it's from right living, you know. But I was watching an infomercial and I bought the Jack LaLanne juicer. You buy stuff from infomercials? Dude, I get so much stuff from infomercials. Wait. That's crazy. I love infomercial stuff. I knew you got that Popil. The wrong Popil. Set it and forget it. Set it and forget it. Which I haven't used since Dallas. Showtime rotisserie grill.
Yeah, the Showtime rotisserie grill. Oh my God. But wait, you buy stuff and don't use them though. No, no, no. I buy it and I use it twice. Oh my. Oh, twice. Oh good. That's what I do. Oh good. I buy it and I use it twice. You would have the best garage sale. Seriously. So you use it and forget it. I use it and forget it. Yes. You got to reread those instructions. Yeah, that's not how it works, Mike. Have you guys, as anybody else on the show, ever bought one thing from an infomercial? I buy the Time Life CDs. No, you don't. Yeah, I do. Dude, I got a great one.
That's for old people, bro. I got a great one. Did you buy Zamfier? No, not Zamfier. Not Zamfier. But I did get the midnight special. It's called the midnight special. Do you want to know where I am? Eddie. We were on the cruise ship going to Cabo last year. The P-1 cruise? The P-1 cruise. Yeah. And while everybody was having fun, I was in my room watching TV. Oh. Yeah. Right? Stop it. That sounds about right.
We're on the air. Oh, are we on right now? Yes. People can hear you. People can hear this. No, but they had on a commercial for the Midnight Special, Time Life, the Midnight Special, and it was all, it was a DVD, and it's all live performances from bands like Fleetwood Mac and, like, all these cool, like, even Kiss and all these seven, there used to be a TV show that I don't even know of called the Midnight Special, and they would have all of these old classic rock bands on. And so I bought it and I watched it twice. Well, what I mean to say is I put DVDs in my DVD player on two occasions.
I haven't seen. Wait, is it a multiple? Oh, yeah. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's like 80 discs. There was like, I think there was six DVDs. And I put them in on two occasions. Yeah. So you haven't even watched them. I'm not even close to them. I've seen all of them. That's interesting. So do you order these things through their website or do you actually call? I call. Oh, come on. I call. And when I call. You're like, hey, Mike, what's up? Good to be a long time no speak.
What's going on? Sorry, I haven't been on a cruise ship lately. But at the end of the process, they always try to get me to get other, you know, schlock. That is my fear. And I say no, because I'm not, I don't want. You're not like that. I'm not like that. I say that to them. I go, I'm not like that, man. But I love, the stuff on infomercials, I think, is actually good and it works and everything, but you use it twice and then you're not interested anymore. Wow. I once tried to order something from an infomercial, but I went to the website and it was like given you this total run around i wanted to order uh hip-hop abs yes which looks awesome i mean it
really really does like i watch it talk about it well they don't say abs yeah you can't add this but yeah but it's it's so difficult it's so difficult to order from the website because i think that's the deal they want you to call so they can you know make you buy other stuff and you know describe the infomercial what were the visuals what were we seeing what were we seeing what got you what motivated you to uh uh what was your call to action well mike um like most ladies i would enjoy having a tone abdominal section so are they
Showing these women with these beautiful bodies? The before and afters. Two different people, though. And did you see yourself in it? Was it white women? Was it hip-hop girls? Where are the white women at? What was it? What kind of women are we talking about? Where are the white women at? It was a mixture of women. Is it the Fly Girls? It was the Fly Girls. The host of the program, who actually leads the... Is an African-American man. Damon Wayans. Yes, Damon Wayans. Was it Damon Wayans?
Was it Homie the Clown? Why would it be Damon Wayans? It might have been. It might have been. It might have been. Why would it be? How did we not know? I mean, that doesn't even make sense. How do we not know? I'm black. Living color. Yeah. It's a natural progression, guys. Stay with us. But he's not. Ladies and gentlemen, what's going on? I'm Sinbad, and I want to welcome you tonight to some of the best workouts you'll ever see ever. Do you know anything about chocolate? That look says it was not Sinbad. No. Was it Coolio? I mean, it was like an athlete, like a personal trainer type of thing. Really? It was MC Hammer and those giant glasses. Those giant...
Oh, yeah. The hammer pants. The hammer pants. What's up, folks? I'm MC Hammer. And so they're working out. Are they working out like on mats and stuff? No, it's like, I don't think you go on the floor at all. It's in the club, man. It's all like hip-hop. Like you get a great abdominal workout from like, you know, dancing. Busting a move. Yeah, and the music was awesome, you know. It was, like, really, like, you know, cool new music. There we go. Yeah. There it is. Like Naughty by nature. That's right. That's not really new music.
Let's get those abs going. By the way, 5701053, if you bought anything from an infomercial and you liked it or you hated it. Either way, we'd love to hear from you. So if anyone has hip-hop abs and they don't care for it anymore. I don't think they're not using it anymore. Yeah. Yeah, seriously. If there's anybody in the audience that bought hip-hop abs but you don't use it anymore and you want to donate it to a worthy cause, Sky would love. I would love hip-hop apps. App charity? That's right, app charity. I'm just too scared to call because I know they're going to try and pressure me to buy something else, and I'm horrible at saying no to people. So what was the runaround on the website?
On the website, well... They wanted a credit card number. Can you believe this, Mike? I was like, what is this? I want my credit card? I only carry gold. I was trying to insert the gold bullion bar into my PC, and it wouldn't fit. Oh, you figured me out. My gold USB. Money, money, money. Where do I insert the gold USB? Money, money, money. We have audio. We have audio.
Audio's working now. Hey, Sean. What's up? What was it? What was it? Well. Oh, wow. Okay. Well, basically, how do I lie? Let me figure this out real quick. Hold up. Wait a minute. Can you give me a second to think of something? I'll get this. Money, money, money. Well, it was right around the holiday season, and I had expressed to the boo. Eddie gets so mad when I do this. Eddie's looking at Skye. Well, it's kind of the same thing that I do with, like, my pajamagram pajamas.
I pick them out, and then I have him purchase them as a present, and I pretend like it's a total price. You know what? So he was the one. You're magnificent. You were the worst. He was the one. Money, money, money. Said it was a huge run around on the website and that I'd have to call if I really wanted them. Wow. This is humiliating. Great story. Compelling and rich. It's not humiliating. Why is that humiliating? It is. Eddie's right. To know what you want and to express that to your partner. Why, I mean, why is that?
You know what I always want to get? Whenever I see that dang Chuck Norris on that Bowflex, I'm like, dude, I want one of those. Thank you. I want to be Chuck Norris. Thank you. Bowflex. $8 million. Yeah, now Bowflex is the bands, right? It's got bands. You're cute. It doesn't work on bands, those guys? No, no, no. Yeah, I think I know what you said. They're not bands. It's like these big rubber bands. It's like resistance. Well, I think they used to have, like, the rubber band thing, but now it's like these weird, like, plastic poles and cables and pleas and stuff. Like ligaments.
It's like a workout bench with, like, weights attached to it. Hey, dude, who doesn't think Bowflex looks cool? Seriously. Is there one person in the world that's like, no, that doesn't look like that's cool? You see some dude sitting there with, like, stone abs. They all look great. Everybody's on it. I'm like, I could look like that in four days if I just get that thing. Four days. I can kill somebody like Chuck Norris. Hip-hop abs. And don't we all want that? I really want the Suzanne Somers Thighmaster. No, you don't. Squeeze.
I had that for a while. Did you, Skye? Yeah, I bought it at a garage sale. I stole it. No way, Jose. That's disgusting. That's a second. Hey, dude. I bought my diaphragm at Gerard's sale. That's different, Eddie. Yes, this retainer that I'm using right now. A dime. Yes. I have a dime under my tongue.
Doctor said I needed minerals. I get all my feminine hygiene products at Gerard's sale. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. All of you. Shut it up. I just got a new box yesterday. It's called OB. And I bought it. Oh, you're so funny. You're so funny. You're so funny. Four greats of it. Oh, you're hilarious. 50 cents. The wings were extra. Yes. We have to take a quick time out. You're so dumb. We have to take a quick time out. But we have people calling in. Call us right now, 570-1053, if you've ever bought infomercial stuff. And if you liked it or if you hated it or whatever, I love infomercial stuff.
I got a couple things. You did, Rob? Yeah. All right, all right. Quick timeout. We'll come back. We'll talk about it. We're broadcasting from the Olympic Training Center where you can come and hang out with us. And if you felt like getting breakfast for us on your way out here, hey, man, we would think you were, we wouldn't stop it. Or if you're hungry, we got coffee and donuts. Oh, I didn't know. Right over there, Mike, for everybody. I just saw that right now. Yeah, they're right over there. Help yourself. I will go get that. If you want to get me something hot, by all means, I won't stop you. I won't stop you. Calm yourself down. We'll be back. It's Rock 105.3. What's a P-1?

Check one, two.
Yeah. Are we back? Oh, well, who knew we were on the radio? It's 7-18. Michael Phelps is everywhere. He's going to host Saturday Night Live, present at the VMAs, do a cameo on Entourage, And has now just signed a book deal. You probably just heard Skye and I discussing politics. Yeah, I didn't know we were back on the radio. That's the best. Skye says McCain ran an ad that was, like, positive and nice or something. Yeah, well, it was weird. It was cool. Yeah, I didn't actually see it, Sean. But I was reading all yesterday that, oh, McCain's going to run this groundbreaking ad during the Democratic National Convention last night. So what exactly was it, Sean?
It was a typical, like, political ad, but it was just him sort of from the neck up, talking, congratulating Barack. And then it had the, you know, I'm McCain and I endorse this ad at the end. Cut 12. Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America. You know, too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow we'll be back at it, but tonight, Senator, a job well done.
I'm John McCain, and I approve this message. That is so, I've never heard anything like that. Well, I hope it works. And sadly, I don't trust anything, and so I think it's great. I just don't trust anything. I think it's great. Well, I think we all know what his intention is in doing that, but, you know, I'd rather... I'd rather it be that than the other thing. I'd rather it be that. I mean, if you have a choice, that's what you would prefer. So, I say great.
The only problem with it was you could really see his jacked up teeth, man. Okay, you know, that is not necessary. That is a legitimate point. They're just laxy and if you put down really hard, they're just going to shatter right in his mouth. Sean is a political analyst, and he's paid to make these kind of observations. Thank you, Sky. I'm a conservative Republican, and right now I'm sitting with Sky, Ashley, Sean, and they're all liberal Democrats, so that's awesome. So what are you going to do?
That's great. Eddie is going to put on his singlet, and so is Rob. Yeah, they're changing. Oh, they're onesies. Yes. Olympic Training Center, 2800 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista. Come down and watch. They're going to be competing in three events this morning. They're going to be competing in archery, Greco-Roman wrestling, and a 100-meter dash. And Eddie has been really dreading putting on the singlet. Oh, no.
Why is it not his color? Apparently, it's not his shape. Yeah, besides a professional athlete, I don't know who would look good in a singlet. It's like walking around in body paint. It's hard to pull. Yeah, it is. It's hard to pull off a singlet. Oh, is he here? Oh, no. Where, where, where? Right there. Oh, wow. Okay. Oh, my gosh. Eddie opted for the t-shirt under the singlet. Eddie opted for the t-shirt under the singlet. I see where he's going.
We'll get why. That's a unitard. Oh, wow. Wow, okay. That is the craziest thing I've ever seen. I don't know that I've seen anything like this. This, oh, if you don't come out here, you're crazy. Wow. This is a sight to behold, everyone. My jaw. I don't even, my words don't even do it, Josh. Oh, okay. How does the, you know, the basement look? I don't know what's going on down there. I'm trying not to look.
I don't know. It's like looking at the sun. It is. Yeah. Utterly horrendous. I'm trying not to look. Get away from me. Get away from me. Eddie just walked right up the sky. I'm not going to look. No. Okay. Eddie. No. Eddie. No. Eddie. No. Oh, my God. Make it stop. Is this? I have a question. Is it legal to have them out here like this outdoors? I think we got a permit. We got a permit to have them outdoors like this? Yes. I get to keep this, right? Hey, guys, is it hot in here or is it just me and Eddie? Shut up.
You guys look good. I can't. Oh, I'm so uncomfortable right now. I mean. No back massage right now. It's not. Oh, no. Please don't. Please. Uncomfortable. Eddie. Eddie. Eddie. Bulky is the only word. Eddie. Do we have a. It's coming to mind. Pick up that microphone, Eddie. Oh, no. Okay. I want to go home. Eddie's wearing a blue singlet with a gray t-shirt underneath. Betty, talk to us about the decision to wear the gray T-shirt underneath. Let me go home. Oh, have you seen me? Do you have eyes?
Okay. I wish I did. Okay. I wish I did. I wish. Oh, man. Stop staring. Okay, she's not staring. My eyes are up here. I'm doing the opposite of staring right now. I don't see anything like it. Up here, baby. Let's get. Not a piece of meat. Where is Dave? Or am I? Where is the rest? I'm a wrestling coach. Gabe. Gabe. Gabe, come on over. Oh, sweet Gabe. Oh, well, hello. What do you mean? Gabe is an Olympic-level wrestling coach. And ref, right?
Let's hear it for Gabe, everybody. Yeah, Gabe. What up, what up? Good morning. Gabe, I need you to hold that microphone up. I am in shock right now seeing my friends wearing singlets. I just want you to know that I'm in shock. Because you're turned on, too? Eddie, I thought you were hetero, Mike. Eddie, I've known you for... Don't put your arm around me, Rob. It's really uncomfortable. What about a quick hug? No, no, no. Rob, Rob, stop.
He's getting too turned on. Rob, stop. He's getting too turned on. I feel like this is an episode of Oz. I don't think I could do this very long because it's making me so uncomfortable. Well, Gabe's already said to me that he sees potential. I don't know if he actually said that. That's not potential you're looking at. This is very interesting. See? 2012, here I come. London, look out. So, Gabe. Hold on. Let's talk to Gabe. Gabe is a wrestling coach and ref. And I was watching.
Mercy. What's up, Mike? I was watching. Please stop. Please. Hey, Gabe is a professional. Come on. A little professionalism, guys. Gabe is a professional. We're at the Olympic Training Center. Dave, I was watching wrestling on television, and there is so much that I didn't understand, and I know that there's a lot of people that are going to be watching today that don't understand. First of all, Eddie and Rob, do you guys know the rules of wrestling? Yeah, I watch it every night, Monday Night Raw, every Monday night.
Ultimate Warrior. No, no, no. I don't mean WWE wrestling. I call him Triple H. I don't mean that kind of wrestling. I mean Greco-Roman wrestling. It can't be much different, right? Gabe, will you be able to show two guys that don't know anything something? Absolutely. We don't need any coaching. We're good. We're ready to go. Gabe, what is the most important thing for these guys to know as they go out onto the mat? Well, they have to understand that they have to pummel and they want to try to get a body lock for them to get a good throw. Suplex.
They have to pummel in order to get a good lock and be able to throw. Yes. Okay, now clearly you can see that Eddie outweighs Rob. What do you mean clearly? By quite a bit. I think it's like I'm looking in the mirror. It's really an interesting match. When I first saw him, that's the first thing I said. You said yourself a little bit different. You said to yourself, the little guy doesn't have a chance, right? Don't refer to Eddie like that. Well, it's clearly not me. No. Where are my middle kids? If you have the technique, a little guy can actually beat a bigger guy with the right technique.
Is that right? Is that right? Okay, well, let's do this. Let's have you guys go on out to the back. No problem. Go on out to the back. I am ready to rumble. Let's do this, brother. I can't talk Eddie out of the fact that this is not pro wrestling. No. No. I'm glad you said that. Thank you for saying that. Eddie is walking out onto the mat. Oh, man. Eddie is very, very... Go right into the microphone. Right into the microphone. I have to put some tape on it so they can do that. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah. Do what you got to do, Gabe.
They're going to tape the mat. What is Eddie doing right now? He's really on one. He's like warming up the crowd. He's really on one. Well, first of all, I need to let everybody know. Yeah. This mat is on the asphalt. What? Rob is going to crack his head up. The mat is on. They cleared out an area of the Olympic Training Center parking lot. And they are, I am not kidding you, right now at this very moment, they are taking the two different sides of this blue foam mat and literally taping them together.
This can't be safe. If there's a P1 EMT in the area, it couldn't hurt to hang out a little. Why is Rob skipping? Yeah, Rob is... He just goes with the outfit. Skipping. Rob was just skipping around the parking lot. Do not stretch like that for us. Stretching out his thighs, which is so gross. If you can't make it out here, you have to see this video on the web later today. This is nuts. They're doing the squat stretch. Mike, this is actually like YouTube material right here because this is so ridiculous.
It is total YouTube stuff. This is the weirdest thing I've heard. These two guys. Did you see what Eddie just did? Oh, hey. Eddie, what did you do? Nothing. I'm ready. He took the wireless mic and put it in his thing. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. All right, so they're taping the mat together. And Rob is doing a maneuver right now where he's practicing and he's rolling around on the mat. Hey, you're not on a kick. He's doing a shoulder. Yeah, you can do this as a Royal Rumble. Anything goes.
We're playing prison rules. No, we're not. Punch and kick and bite is permitted. No, it's not. If you have a lighter, you can burn them. No, you cannot. It's whatever you want to do tonight. Well, Mike, Mike, watch my roundhouse. How old is he? Reverse roundhouse. He's doing roundhouse kicks at approximately two miles an hour. His roundhouse kick took about 20 minutes to actually occur. Get around. It took as long as it actually takes to go around the house.
Mike, you don't know much about roundhouse kicks, do you? You got to wind up. One more time. Man. He is going to hurt himself. I'm looking at one of the most unathletic people maybe that I've ever seen with that roundhouse. I've got to tell you, that roundhouse kick would have knocked out a youth. Yes. You've got to buck that high. Yes. Okay. Gabe, does Gabe have, let's hand the wireless to Gabe. And Gabe, we want to have these guys actually do Greco-Roman wrestling.
What do they need to do to start off? First of all, they need to come to the middle of the mat, shake hands. Okay, shake hands, guys. They're in the middle of the mat. Eddie, they're both pretending to be sumos, though. They're lifting right leg and left leg. Yeah, they don't understand. They just shook hands. They don't understand. They just shook hands. That's crazy. Now what? Ready to battle. Ready? Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Now, Gabe. Gabe, come on. You've got to tell them something. Give them something. What do they do here? I mean, they need to stay inside that little circle, right, Gabe? Take care of your head by wearing your helmet. All the attacks are from the waist up.
You cannot use the legs to attack the opponent, and you cannot use your legs to counter. It's all upper body wrestling. You cannot sweep the legs. No, you cannot sweep the legs, and you cannot hook the legs. So everything has to be done using their upper body. Got it. Everything has to be upper body. Okay, and approximately how long will they be doing this? It all depends how good a shape they're in. Okay, so not very long. Ten seconds, Eddie says. So it's already over. Okay.
All right. And what are they actually trying to accomplish? What is the goal? What they're trying to accomplish is put their opponent on their back. Okay. From feet to back. Okay. So this should not take long, Sky. Oh, my gosh. It shouldn't take long for Eddie to put their staring each other down. Oh, wow. In the middle of this mat like it's a boxing ring. They're staring each other down. It's easy. Well, and Rob is trying to get on his tippy-toes to look into Eddie's eyes. And I think we're ready to begin. The first guy whose back is pinned down is going to be the victor.
Okay, so we just do this once. It's not like a best two out of three. No, it's just the one time whoever pins the other person or whatever. Yeah, yeah, first guy to pin the other. What's the deal with the line, the out-of-bounds? It's called a circle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What is the deal with the circle on the mat? Well, you have to stay within that circle because that blacktop would hurt. Oh, that's a good fact. Yeah, these are good facts. I'm going to tell you right now, Gabe, they're probably not going to be able to stay in that circle. I have a feeling something is going to be very, oh, how do you put it, unofficial. Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.
I feel that. I do not think that this will be official. Yeah. All right. Our engineer is talking on the phone loudly. We'll just wait until he's done. Yes, I'm on the phone. Hang on just a moment. Could you get off the phone for a moment? We're doing a live broadcast here. Sorry. Or just step away. Take a walk about. If you just stepped away from the microphones, you might be able to help us out here just a little bit. Thank you so much. Yes, I'm on the phone.
I love this show. We're the best. Oh, wow. Okay. So should we do on your mark, get, set, go kind of thing here, Gabe? Yeah. How does it go, Gabe? Well, we're ready. As soon as they shake hands, I will say wrestle and combat will be on. All right. Combat. I love it. Gentlemen, shake hands. Ready? Wrestle. They're wrestling. Eddie is charging. Oh, now they're doing like professional wrestling moves. Eddie is. Well, no, this isn't what we're doing. Eddie is sticky. Eddie's trying to kick. Rob is pretending to do some sort of a back shoulder deal.
Rob is out of the circle. I mean, wrong. What's going on? They're doing professional wrestling moves. Eddie is trying to, Rob just tried to deflect Eddie's attention. Hey, what's that? Look over there. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life. Take it serious, you jerks. Can one of you guys take this seriously so the other guy can depend? I mean, we're at the Olympic Training Center, okay? We're not at Chuck E. Cheese right now. How dare you? Well, this is too immature for Chuck E. Cheese. I don't even, I'm really upset, Mike.
I want to have to tease his rolling his eyes right now. I think, yeah, I think. Oh, no, oh, no. And there it is. He's got him. Boom goes the dynamite. He's got him on the pin. Oh, those shoulders are going down. I'm right there, right there. He's down. That's it, that's it. You pinned him. And Rob's pinned him. And boom goes the dynamite. And Eddie wins. Eddie's a champion. You do not need to bribe him like that. Eddie, I think, can officially sell Rob for a pack of Marlboros. Okay, okay. Okay. Let's talk to our Victor Eddie. Let's hear it for Eddie, folks.
That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I'm really upset. I don't know what happened. I mean, I do have an idea about what happened. What happened? I think that they talked and they said, listen, Rob said, I can't beat you. That was a much tougher match than I expected. It was not, Eddie. Shut up. It wasn't. It wasn't a much tougher match. Man, kid, you got a lot of fighting you. Yeah, you know, I was just trying to come out here and do what I could do and be who I am. Huh? What? Exactly.
That was terrible. Well said. Mike. Well said. Talk to them. I don't know what to say to them. Mike. Have you seen this, Mike? Eddie, stop pointing to that. Please. Don't point. I think we know who the real Victor is. Hey, family show. Stop it. I've known him 25 years, and I don't want to know him that good. No, no. I definitely don't think that's true. Was that one time in Rochester? Thank you, Eddie. What one time? I don't know what he's talking about, but whatever this sounded weird. Oh, my gosh, I'm late-headed.
All right, so, Eddie, what was your tactic on that? Well, me and Rob were a little confused. We thought we were going to professionally wrestle. And so we did speak before and said, you know, let's give them a show. Right, right, right. And I think we accomplished that, right? Yeah, I think they did, too. I think they did, too. But then I said, you're going to bounce off the ropes and then let's really go. And he must have forgot because I really put him down pretty easy. I don't really remember what happened after I hit the ropes. There's no ropes.
I was in the air. There's not a single rope. Oh, yeah. The P1s. Yeah, Scooby and T-Rex pretended to be the ropes. Oh, okay, good. I'm looking at Rob in his onesie. I think I was really speaking. I'm looking at Rob in his adult onesie right now. I kind of like it, though. It's like I'm looking at Jackie Joyner-Kersey wearing the same outfit. There's no... Is that another infomercial guy? You're built like G.I. Joe, bro. That's true. That is true. And that's with a cup. Don't touch that, Eddie.
Hey, stop. Okay. Thank you. Hey, some things are private, bro. Up next. So I'm up 1-0, right? Up next. Eddie's up 1-0. Up next, ladies and gentlemen, is going to be the 100-meter dash. Oh, yes. Now, this is my favorite. The 100-meter dash. I think Eddie needs to give Rob a spin just for the crowd. You know, like you do in the studio on a daily basis. Come over here, sweetie. Eddie, can you give Rob a spin? Yeah, can you give Rob a spin? Come over here, sweetie. Give Rob a spin. I feel we were cheated on this wrestling match, and I would like to... Oh, you want to hold it while I pick you up?
Yeah. Oh, no. You might think he's belittling me by calling me sweetie, but that's my wrestling name. Rob, the sweetheart. Rob, the sweetheart. Oh, wow. And he just picked Rob up over his head. Okay, stop touching the cup, dude. Yeah, don't pat his cup. Why is Rob smiling and waving? I don't, okay. Biggest, dopiest grin I've ever seen. Watch out for the asphalt, bro. What happened? It's like a full-grown man playing with his toddler. I see stones.
I see stones. Yeah. See, I saw a couple stars. Stars? Yes, I was on Renegade. All right, let's take a break. Let's take a break. And when we come back... I'm going to go change it to my running outfit. Is that right? And let's hear it for their singlets. Thanks, Jake. You were great. Sorry they're such clowns. All right. So, we will take a quick timeout. And when we come back... Get that away from me. Mikey, I bought a Simmons Beautyrest Cunningham pillow top over at Sleep Train two weeks ago, and it was just an amazing experience. The salesperson gave me 10% off
before he even knew I was in there for the Mikey show. And then I used the Ace card and said, "Oh, Mikey told me to come in." And I got an additional 10. So all in all, I saved 20% on the mattress. And I bought it at Mission Valley at 11 o'clock. They had it delivered and installed in Chula Vista by 2:30 on the same day. - That's rad. - And what's even more amazing Since it was a Cunningham pillow top, it was personally delivered by Richie Cunningham and Patsy Weber. It was just an amazing experience.
That's awesome. How do you like sleeping on it? It's amazing. I've never had any problems sleeping before, but with the new mattress, it's even better. It's completely amazing. I would recommend Sleep Train and all the P1s out there. And Richie Cunningham and Patsy Weber delivered it. Absolutely. You can definitely meet Richie and Potsy if you get the Cunningham pillow top. There you go. That's beautiful. Hey, dude, I appreciate it. Thank you for calling. Thanks, Mikey. We'll see you. It's the sporting competition that's second to most. Back to the Eddie and B-Rob Sports Challenge on Rock 105.3.
Welcome back. Hey, P1s that are hanging out out here. Let's hear it from all the P1s out here. Ladies and gentlemen, it is 7.45. Three people were critically injured when a covered construction walkway collapsed in the East Village downtown yesterday. Eddie just won a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in one of the greatest beats of all time in Olympic history. No, that was ridiculous. He's up 1-0. Truly, truly amazing. Truly ridiculous. Let me tell you, this is all going to be on our website.
We're going to put all of it up so that everybody can take a look at it. Hey, Mike, me and Rob were talking in the men's room. Yeah. Like we like to do. Creepy. And we decided that if you want to put us stretching on YouTube and label it the sexiest thing ever to hit the Internet, we'd be all right with that. Feel free. The sexiest thing ever to hit the Internet. That's the title. Sean, if you can get on that, that'd be great. No problem. Thanks, Eric. Okay. Awesome. Let's hear it for Al Joyner, who is here with us today. It's an honor.
This is awesome. This is huge. We'll get Al over here, and we'll get him set up with a microphone. And Al, join her, of course, from the 1984 Olympics, which were the Olympics in Los Angeles. And, Al, I remember those really specifically because I was getting into high school. I was 14 years old. It was a big thing because it was in America. And you just gave me that look like, oh, no, you were 14 when that happened? Yeah, you're a jerk. Thanks for pointing that out. Oh, no. How old were you at the time, Al? I was 12.
I was a child prodigy. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Oh, so you were a Chinese gymnast. I'm going to guess. Nice. I'm going to tell you, you were 24 years old. Correct. You were 24 years old. There you were in Los Angeles. And that had to be, still to this moment, probably the best moment of your life? Yes, because it proved to me that dreams come true. So it was basically one of the biggest moments of my life because I was an underdog and didn't nobody know where the heck I came from. And when you were participating in, it was the triple jump that you won for, is that correct?
Yes, triple jump. And explain to people what the triple jump is, what it looks like, and how it's done. And thank God we don't have to do that. Triple jump is like a hop, step, and a jump. You either go right, right, left on your feet, on your foot, right, right, left, or left, left, right. And from the board to the sand pit is normally 44 feet to the sand. So you got to make sure that you make it to the sand. And on that day, August 4th, I jump 56 feet, 7 1⁄2 inches. Get out of here.
Oh, my. Wow. I didn't know that was humanly possible. It's bigger than Rob's apartment. Awesome. No, seriously, it is. Now, who were the tough competitors that day? It was really the Americans, Willie Banks, Mike Conley, and Keith Conner from Great Britain, and one guy from Japan. I can't think of his name, but these are all the guys that I really wanted to be. And during the ceremony, when you're given your gold medal, describe what's going through your head at that moment.
Well, for me, it was pretty special because on that day, I got my medal after my sister, Jackie, John, and Kersey. And so we was the first brother and sister to ever receive Olympic medals in the same game. And she was the favorite to win the gold medal. And I wasn't, even though she took the silver. But to get that Olympic medal. I think she made up for it in other Olympics. Oh, yeah. She never lost for the next 12 years. But to get that gold medal and let the National Anthem play for you was really a childhood dream. But every time I heard the National Anthem, I relived that moment.
Really? Yes. You still think of that second, that moment? Yes, because all the time you heard the National Anthem, but right now it means so much to me because I remember bending down saying, will the National Anthem play for me? And so each time that I go to a baseball game, football game, anything that anybody sings the National Anthem, I go back to that moment of August 4th. Before that had happened, had you ever seen an Olympic medal before, held one in your hand, and actually touched one before that moment? No. So it was the first time that you'd ever put your hands on one? Yes.
Yes. What was that like? I said, wow, I can go buy a lot of stuff with this medal. Oh, stop it. Come on. Wait, they didn't even have eBay yet. Come on. Now, it was really just unbelievable just to hold that Olympic medal, knowing that, you know, Jim Thorpe, all the people that I read about, Mark Spitz, all the people that motivated me to become an Olympian had one of these medals in their hands before, and now I'm part of that elite group.
Now, what do you think when you watch and have watched Olympics since then? Do you still watch with a great degree of interest, or is it something that, you know, Because you're involved in coaching and everything. Or is it something that you're more passive about? I'm very involved in great interest because it's the only reality TV that you cannot know what the drama or the end is going to be. It's right there. There's nothing you can say, well, I'm going to do this. But then all of a sudden something else happened. And it only happened every four years. So it's really unbelievable.
You know, it's just like watch bad men ping pong anything with the Olympics because I know that if they lose. I'm a good speed walker. I'll show you later. Because if they lose, you know, the next time, it's not like the NBA championship or the NFL. They got to wait four years to go back to get their feeling out of their gut. That's amazing. All right. Well, we have kind of a treat right now, too. What? We're talking to Al Joyner out here at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, which anybody that wants to come out is welcome to come out. We are on Olympic Parkway.
You just take Olympic Parkway six miles out onto Olympic Parkway, and we're on the right-hand side. But on the phone with us, we have gold medalist Natalie Coughlin. Oh, my gosh. And she won the gold this year in swimming. Are you there, Natalie? I am. I can barely hear you for some reason. It cut out as soon as you introduced me. We have some issues with this phone deal, but hopefully you can hear me enough to be able to talk with you a little bit this morning. We really appreciate you coming on.
Oh, thanks for having me. So where are you right now? Right now I'm somewhere in L.A. I'm not really familiar with L.A., so I have no idea. Somewhere in Los Angeles. That's cool. And Natalie, let me ask you, how long was that flight from China back to the back stateside? A lot quicker than I anticipated. I mean, I was really excited to go home. I'd been gone for two months for various training camps. So I was very much ready to come home.
I was very excited. We're sitting here in person with Al Joyner, and we've got Natalie Coughlin on the line. Is it Coughlin or Coghlan? I've heard it both ways. It's Coughlin, actually. But I'm not offended if you say Coughlin. Well, my mom told me it was Coughlin, and my mom should freaking know. Well, wait a minute. Now, Ashley, didn't you go to high school with Natalie? I did not. She went to, didn't you go to Clayton Valley? Maybe.
I don't know. But you know my brother, Stephen Long? I'm sorry. I can't hear a word you're saying. Oh, she can't hear. Well, one of the gals on our show was, I guess, she went to a high school near your high school. My brother swam with Natalie all growing up, like, in professional swimming. Oh, really? Her brother's name is Stephen Long. Wait, what? Her brother's name is Stephen Long, girl on my show. Oh, Stephen Long. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he was a swimmer. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I swam with him, yeah. You should know my name's Coglin. Yeah. And it was my mom, Natalie. Well, wait, wait, wait, wait. She can't hear you, Ash. So when you're talking, she's not going to be able to hear you. But it's kind of neat. The connection is kind of neat that her brother knows you and everything. So talk to us about winning this medal and what it was like in that final meet. Well, I mean, it was pretty intense. You know, so many people are watching and just knowing that I was the defending Olympic champion. I was just so, so nervous and excited and, you know, the last 10 to 15 meters of my race were just killing me.
I was in so much pain and just hoping for it to be over at any point and when I saw the number one, next to my name. I was incredibly excited. And what was it like the moment that they put that medal, uh, around your neck? What was that like when you wore that for the first time? Well, it was more overwhelming than anything. Uh, you know, it's been, like I said, I've been on the road for two months and it's a, and it's a long two months when you're in the Olympic training camp and, you know, you're preparing for the Olympic games and, you know, there's so much going on and you know you're away from your family and friends and um i just started crying
uncontrollably like i was so happy but really overwhelmed with emotion and i'm not an emotional person at all like i never cry and i was crying like a little baby on the on the stand and so um i mean it was intense experience and something i'll always remember natalie how long have you been swimming. What age were you when you started swimming? Um, I was six when I started, um, a swim team, but I, I did, uh, like I did lessons from, you know, a few months old, um, until about six years old. So your parents, do your parents tell you that when you were just a few months old,
that you already showed an ability that was different? No, no, no, no. I, I, I really wasn't very good until i was 13 or so i was very confident but i didn't really have any talent to back it up really wow yeah well i mean that kind of gives that that gives hope to some young kids because it tells you that with a lot of hard work uh you know with some talent that you can go far yeah yeah i mean i it when i was younger it's all about being with my friends with being outside and in the sun and having fun. I mean, I really wasn't very good, but, you know, that wasn't long enough.
Wow, that's unbelievable. Well, Eddie, let's see if you can hear my producer and his microphone. Can you hear me, Natalie? Yeah, I can hear you the best of anyone. Oh, well, thank you. Oh, sexy time. What's up? No. We've heard so much about what Michael Phelps eats, you know, on a daily basis. Do you eat like a pig, too? Hey. I really pay attention to what I eat, actually, and, yeah, lots and lots of fruits and vegetables, and I'm really into community-supported agriculture, so I actually, I live in the Bay Area. Nice.
Yeah. I subscribe to, you know, a local farm, and, yeah. Don't agree. I switch the organic, non-processed side of eating, so. Awesome. That's great. Me and Michael, I think, eat very differently. Right. Well, listen, Natalie, we really appreciate you taking the time to come on with us this morning. And congratulations on a really amazing thing and bringing home gold for the United States. We appreciate it. Let's hear it for Natalie Coughlin. Coughlin, Coughlin. Thank you, Natalie.
We appreciate it. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. All right. We'll see you later. Breaking news. I just got an instant message sent to me. Breaking news. McCain has made his decision. Oh, my gosh, Mike. Oh, my gosh. Who? We'll take a break. Oh, come on. No, no, no, no, no, no. You are a jerk. You are a jerk. No, I'm going to break all convention. I'm going to tell you right now. Do it. I'm going to tell you right now. It's a woman. You're, no. I'm not kidding. You're full of it. Alaska Governor.
Alaska Governor. Oh, man. Her name is. I don't care for this, Mike. Governor Palin. It's Alaska governor, and it's Governor Palin. There's women in Alaska? Apparently. Shush. Apparently? I didn't know either. What? How do they have a female governor in Alaska? Oh, so it's a dude pretending to be a woman to get the votes. That's right. That's awesome. I like it. I like it. Oh, Mike. Yeah, Scott. It does not make me happy. Oh, sorry, Barack. It doesn't make you happy.
No. What do you mean it doesn't make you happy? That should make you ecstatic. Yeah. No, I mean, it's neat for women in general, but for the Democratic Party, that sucks because they're now just trying to go after the Hillary supporters, you know, and that's shady. She, you know, I don't know anything about this woman, but, you know, we were all saying Mitt Romney should probably be the guy because of his experience in the economy. I don't know how Alaska's economy is, how it compares to America, but, oh, please. It says Senator John McCain has picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is 44 years old.
She's in her first term as governor and is a pioneering figure in Alaska. Oh, get it? They're all pioneers. Right? I mean. First woman and the youngest person to hold the state's top political job. She catapulted to the post with a strong reputation as a political outsider forged during her stint in local politics. So this kills McCain's argument that Obama has no experience. You know what I mean? Like if you're picking a running mate who's been a governor for the day. Yeah, the first thing that came to my mind was, man, I wonder if, like, you know, because I know that McCain went very liberal on certain stuff.
I'm like, I wonder if McCain is like almost working for the Democrats. I mean, it made me feel that, you know, because, well, I mean, you're right. He can't say anything, which is what he should say. Which was his like only argument. Well, it wasn't his only argument. Well, the only one based in fact. Anyway. Here we go. The conservative Palin defeated two so-called political insiders to win the governor's job And made her name in part by backing tough ethical standards for politicians. During the first legislative season after her election, her administration passed a state ethics law overhaul.
It doesn't make sense. Why no Mitt Romney? Yeah. Mitt Romney was going to be able to help him when it came to the economy. It's like they overthink it, you know. It's like it doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah. It's not what's best for the country. it's about him trying to win and that is shady i don't know i mean i yeah trying to win for the democrats oh so you think conservatives will be turned off by this conservatives are going to freak out they're going to freak out yeah i'm freaking out yeah listen i had already told you before i said this is not a contest already before i said we might as well start calling
him president obama i knew that already this is like it almost seems like it's uh an inside job like mccain's working for the democrats people used to say that anyway so you think that i think that this is so terrible it will you know it will turn more republicans away than attract female votes it was already happening there was already republicans who were saying they just weren't going to vote they were so upset about mccain because mccain was reaching across the aisle because McCain was a liberal in Republicans' clothing and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
But they're saying this chick is, like, way conservative. He might as well have picked Jonathan Lipnicki, the little boy. Oh, that would have been awesome. The little boy from Jerry Maguire. Right, right, right. And, Mike, why don't we just go ahead and put that last nail in the coffin? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we might as well. Oh, I hope so. We might as well. I can't wait to hear what the thinking is behind the whole thing But that's it. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is the GOP running mate for the vice presidency. Wow.
Which is really going to make Republicans want to get out there and vote. So, anyway. Okay. That's it for President Obama. And we will take a quick time out. Take a quick time out from the Olympic Training Center. We'll come back and we'll talk to Al Joyner. And a big round of applause out here. One of the key ones that have come out to hang out. We will be back from the Olympic Training Center where you can come to if you want to. We will be here throughout the rest of the morning. It's the Mikey Show. It's Rock 105.3. And slowly but surely, I started hearing people say, I don't know why you're doing that. You should make the switch to Mac. It took a while, but now that I've done it, I will never, ever go back to using PC. And one of the reasons is because I can do so much on my Mac and it came that way. You know, when I opened up the box and I took the thing out, I was shocked to know, and a lot of you may not know this. If you get

Hey, let's hear it from all the P1s that came out here, huh? Come on, make some noise. Woo! we got a lot of p1s out here right now and they're all here to see the second event now we we have to talk to uh we're out at the olympic training center right now in chula vista and uh if you
want to come out and hang out with us we'd love to see it's at 2800 olympic parkway in chula vista so you take the 805 south until you get to uh a little olympic parkway go east for about six miles and it's on the right-hand side. It is 8-16. David Duchovny released a statement yesterday that he has entered treatment for sex addiction. Just amazing news that we just got before we went to break. This is crazy town right now. Yeah. If you are just tuning in,
John McCain has made his decision and his decision is elect Barack Obama. I hope you're right, Mike. Then I support John McCain and his decision. Basically, John McCain, he believes in Barack as well. Yeah, good for him. He gets it then. So much so that he has ensured his victory in November. I am freaking out right now, Mike.
Not for a second did I think that this was the way it was going to go down. Well, if you haven't already heard, John McCain has picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, that name that we're all so very, very familiar with for all of her work and things we don't know. And she is 44 years old. This is her first term as governor. Of Alaska. Of Alaska, thus ensuring that John McCain cannot make an argument that Barack Obama does not have any experience. A snowman for every American.
That's right. Nice. That's right. How ironic since he's got a snowball's chance now. Mike is not happy. Oh, man. Uh-oh. What is going on? What microphone are we hearing? I don't know. I think that's Smashley running down towards the start line. Weird. Is that what? Well, we heard a girl giggling. I don't think that was Al Jarner. Maybe he has a feminine giggle. I'm not sure. Yeah. Wow, Mike. Well, maybe this race will make you feel better, you know?
Maybe this will turn it all around for you today. It's been a weird day, Sky. I don't mind telling you. Yeah, it's definitely from seeing Eddie and Rob in the singlet. Yes. I just, I don't know how to handle it today. Well, let's brighten our spirits with a 100-meter race with Eddie. Yo, yo, yo. Where is he? I'm way down here. Have you seen Eddie's shoes? Oh, wait a minute. Now, he meant to spray paint his shoes gold. What do you mean? Yeah.
It didn't turn out so well. That's what he was going for. But the paint doesn't really look gold. But they're yellow. Listen, Mike. They're yellow. Rite Aid didn't have gold paint. I went with the clothing, so they're blazing fast yellow. Blazing fast yellow. The color on the paint can said sunburn healer. Oh, wow. Really? I mean, that joke doesn't even make sense to me. Well, it's yellow. I think you can do the math. Okay, okay. Oh, look who's all so funny.
I think I get it. Oh, we're all so hilarious today. I just got one more thing to say. No, you don't. Ham. Okay. All right. Eddie. Really? Eddie, now this seems like it would be that this particular competition would favor Boston rob whoa whoa well hold up wait a minute he is 25 he is 25 years of age and uh you know he's light on his feet uh mike he smokes 12 packs a day uh yes that is a good point that's a good point that is true he is uh he's you know he's a thin guy he's light on his feet and uh you know he's he's so we would think that this would favor him but what are you thinking eddie well al joyner said
I really remind him of Usain Bolt. I don't think he said that. I do not believe he said that. He did not. Was it a direct quote? Yeah, I did say that. No, you did not, Al. Stop it. Stop it right now. Olympic gold medalist Al Joyner is with us today. Do not encourage them, Al. Al, let me ask you a question. Now, you know, because you are a professional at this, you know this business better than anybody uh what do they have to keep in mind as they're doing this or is it just hey listen run uh keep their mechanics uh stay relaxed because you could pull a hammy
uh-oh now now in terms of mechanics was that a joke did al joiner no that was real no that was real he just made a ham joke because sky likes ham yeah oh you are sky sky i don't need to tell you that uh wait a minute hang on that just went so weird that just went so weird now al is there a mechanics that you could teach them in 30 seconds that might help oh yeah go ahead all right make sure that you push up on your toes and use your arms your arms dictate your legs they're practicing oh that's horrible they're practicing okay no no not that high
Yeah, they were doing really high knees, though. Really high knees. High knees, pushing your toes, and use your arms. Eddie, no one runs like that. Not the running man. That was unusual. Wow. Okay, well. Hey, guys, if you can, everybody, if you can look over here at the tent, if you can look over here at the tent, I need the guys that are standing right here in line of sight. Just move just a little bit there. Perfect. Thank you. Thanks, guys. Just so I could be able to see. Now I can see perfectly. Okay, so Al Joyner is kind of, you know, He's sort of moving his legs, trying to show them, guys, you want to do it like this? You want to do it like this?
And both of them are doing it ridiculously. Do you see T-Rex standing there with water halfway down the track? Yes. Halfway through the 100 meters, about 50 meters down the track, T-Rex has got two styrofoam cups full of water that he's going to hand to them. And then he wants Scooby's on the other side, and he's got two styrofoam cups for Boston Rob. So each guy will get a styrofoam cup drink and then throw it on the ground. It's only a hundred meter dash. Wait, Danny, Danny, come here, come here. What are you saying?
What are you saying? P1 Danny's here, too. What were you saying? P1 Roach has a cigarette for Rob, too. Oh, good. Yeah, he'll need it halfway down. Halfway through. Yeah, halfway through. Yeah, well, he'll be jonesing by the time he gets halfway through. It's his secret power. Be the longest he's ever gone without smoking a cigarette, so. That's true. We have P1s lining the 100-meter route. Oh, yeah. We are out at the Olympic Training Center right now, and I think we're ready to get this thing going. I can't wait. I'm scared. Now, how should we do this? How should we do this, Al? Should we just, your mark and set, go? Or how does this work? Runners to your mark.
Runners to your mark. Look down track when ready. Oh, I'm nervous. They are. Down on all fours. Okay. The gun would be raised. Gun is raised. Now sit. There he goes. All right. It looks like Eddie is running with all he's got. He's actually staying up with Boston, Rob. Pretty good. Now Rob is definitely. Now Eddie is reaching out for the water. He didn't even bother drinking it. He just threw it over his shoulder. Boston, Rob easily defeating Eddie.
Eddie now crashing into the grass behind the finish line. A little dramatic. Boston, Rob has the finish line banner draped around his shoulders like it's a flag. But it's not. Okay. This is odd. That really took a lot out of me. Eddie, come on over. Mike, I'm taking Monday off. Uh-huh. Well, it's a holiday. I mean, everyone's taking it off. Mike, yeah, everybody's taking it off, really. I just really want to think Eddie is winded Eddie is completely winded Eddie are you alright Eddie looks like he's going to throw up
Eddie are you okay He's the fastest guy on the planet He's the fastest guy on the planet He's so fast I couldn't even see him But Eddie he wasn't really that fast He kind of walked at the end Dude you should go to the Olympics Are you merely saying that because And he's about to die right now I was racing a cheetah I think I broke a sound barrier I'd like to thank both my feet
Lefty and righty I think I made a close at the end No, you weren't. I can feel him breathing down my neck, Mike. Don't you lie to me. Actually, that was T-Rex. I was right there. You need a mint. Oh, my God. Eddie, when is the last time you ran 100 meters? Never. Well. That's so far. It really wasn't. Eddie, I was like, we started in Mexico. No, you started at the other side of the parking lot, bro. By the way, Rob is standing, and Eddie is sitting.
Just wipe that sweat right off on her. Ew, no. Yeah, you're the towel girl. No, I'm not. Towel girl. Let me ask you, Eddie. You're the towel girl. How do you feel right now? Oh, so bad. Yeah. So bad. Everything hurts. Yeah. I can't breathe. Rob, how about you? I need some room. No one's even close. Give him some room. The nearest person is 30 feet away. Get away. Get back. Can you see you have an athlete here? Don't choke on your tongue. Thank you.
Why would he choke on his tongue? Al, I think I almost caught him. Holy moly. Eddie, you are nowhere near catching it. If that one was like 10 meters, I would have won. You're screaming. The whole time. Please stop. Wow. Oh, my God. You are an athlete. Dude, you are an animal. An athlete. An athlete. Al Joyner is laughing at you so hard right now. Let me talk to Al Joyner. Let me talk to Al Joyner. I did the technique. He said it didn't work. Al. Dude, Al, let me ask you. I put the Flojo fingernails on and everything. Nothing worked.
Al, let me ask you. Oh, my gosh. Al, let me ask you. Have you ever seen a more ridiculous race in your life? You know what? They had great mechanics, so I was getting impressed. Oh, Joe, come on. I pumped my arms like you said, everything. They had good running mechanics. It's just that take a calendar and a day, but they had good running mechanics. I think we were right there at like 9, 9, 9, something like that. I was close to that. Since she was both, you ran at 9, 6, 8. Holy cow.
Wow. All right, I'm going to go home. There you go. That was a lot of fun, Mike. You got another event, guy. No, I'm done. I got nothing left. Yeah, we called it quits. Eddie, you're wearing a San Diego State T-shirt. Did you actually run track for San Diego State? I lettered. Oh, okay. I lettered. I sent a letter and they turned me down. Eddie lettered and flirted while he was there, and he was very good. Oh, my God. And keg stands. Hey, for the record, Eddie is sweating profusely right now. It's kind of gross. Like, honestly, we should have done, like, speed walking or something. Yeah, probably.
Because I'm good at that. Yeah. I challenge you, speed walking. Let's go. In about a couple of weeks. I'll listen. After you recover. After I catch my breath. We've got to recoup and train again. Hey, can we get a big round of applause from all the P1s that came out and supported? Yeah! So it's all tied up now, Mike. It's all tied up. Boston Rob has won. I should never eat that donut. Boston Rob has won an event. I'm sure that was it. That was a bad idea. Eddie, you've won an event. It is all tied up. Eddie's trying to wipe his sweat on Skye. Get your sweat away from me, bro. I can't believe how much you're sweating. No, no, no.
We are going to take a break. Mike, I've never driven that far. Let alone that. The one event left is archery. Eddie, you could pull this out. Come on, Eddie. I can't breathe. How am I supposed to do it? Well, we'll take a break. And when we come back... Anyone have an oxygen mask? You got like Captain and Coke? Oh, wait, that is not what you need. I shoot better like that. Okay. We'll be back. It's the Mikey Show. It's Rock 105.3. You look so dumb right now. Check it out.

Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. We're looking pretty nice on our freeways right now. Never got too bad, but more or less got away with a nice Friday morning light commute. Westbound and the 5805 northbound are also looking good out of the South Bay up into the city. Dan Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Hey, check this out. It's got this email.
Mikey, I have felt like a part-time P1 until yesterday. I went to sleep train so that I could have a reference to compare used mattresses on Craigslist. I took my three-year-old in there, which is typically a bad idea because she doesn't have the ability to self-calm herself yet. I digress. But my point is that they made it so easy to figure out which mattress I wanted that I ended up buying one at Sleep Train. I really wanted the Beautyrest world-class Paris Plush, but it was out of my budget, which is why I felt I needed to buy a used one. The sales associate knocked off $1,213 and offered to deliver it today.
We got this email. B-Rob, when did we get this? A couple days ago? Yeah, two days ago. Two days ago. That's awesome. Yeah, man. My wife, who is one month pregnant with our second child, will be pleasantly surprised tonight when she sleeps on our new Paris plush. She really deserves a good mattress to sleep on, and I can't wait to sleep on it with her. Signed, P1 Norfus. You want that? That to be your story. Sleep trains are everywhere. Check one out today.
Mikey was going to take part in today's sports challenge, but no one else wanted to do a 100-meter stroll. You're listening to another Eddie and B-Rob Sports Challenge, live from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista on Rock 105.3. Hey, can all the P-1s that are here make some noise on the radio? Folks, welcome back. It is 8.34. Barack Obama spoke to a crowd of over 80,000 people last night when he accepted the Democratic nomination for president. Folks, we are at the Olympic Training Center right now in Chula Vista because Boston Rob and Eddie are competing in another physical challenge.
And since the Olympics just wrapped up, we thought, you know what? Let's bring him out to the Olympic Training Center and have him do some Olympic events. Eddie, still a bit winded from the last competition. I can't do this. You can do it, Eddie. You can muster up all your courage. I noticed that on your left arm, you have some sort of apparatus. Yeah, I'm all geared up for the big archery contest. What is it? What are you wearing there? What is that? It's a forearm pad that you use because sometimes if you pull the bow back in the string, it will smack you against the arm and will really make you unhappy.
All right, so that's a bit of protection that he's got there. So let's talk to, what's your name, sir? Guy Kruger. And, Guy, you are, oh, no. What is going on? Okay, Guy, did you just see Boston Rob? I see this. This is pretty remarkable here. What is that, Mike? Rob, can you describe to us why you're dressed as Robin Hood? Hark, Mike. All right, I'm already irritated. Well said. I've been from Sherwood Forest, and I heard you guys needed a Narcher. Let's get this thing done. Oh, my gosh.
Rob is wearing a Robin Hood costume. I mean, with the little hat and the boots. Like the whole costume, everything. The whole get-up. He's dressed as Robin Hood. That's right. It's a good look, and if anyone's going to be shooting bow and arrows, then you should probably dress like this. You should probably not. No, yeah. That's not a requirement. Probably not. Did they have a tattoo artist in Sherwood for us? Did your neck, or how did that? Little John's dabbling in the... Okay. All right. Okay. I thought you were Little Rob. Oh, wow. You get it?
Honestly, I didn't plan it this way. My T-shirt has a bullseye on it. That's not smart, Mike. Yeah, it's not a good thing to wear at archery range. It really is. You're pretty much a walking target and setting yourself up for a disaster. I am. Oh, good. Oh, good. All right, well, Guy, talk to us here. Tell us, you know, when were you? Mike, he has a name you don't need to say. His name is Guy, Sky. Hey, Guy. Hey, Guy. He thought I was just saying, hey, Guy, hey, Guy. It's rude. His name is Guy. Oh. Guy, when were you on the Olympic archery team? actually i wasn't on the olympic archery team this this year i was a second alternate for the team in the past i've been a world team member and i trained here at the olympic training center for
several years but now i'm actually assistant coach here how do you teach someone how to do this and at what age do people usually begin we usually start kids off at age 10 or 11 and it actually takes quite a few years to develop someone as an archer because there's a lot of technique involved it's not really aiming like a lot of people think so it's mainly just being able to do the exact same thing over and over again and under pressure because at the olympic games you're shooting 12 arrows against an opponent alternating arrows and it's at a distance of 70 meters so one small mistake can cost you the tournament and one loss will cost you the the
whole games you're done in terms of a football field how far is 70 meters it's three quarters the length of a foot of a football field so basically if you stand at the 25 yard line you're shooting all the way at the other end of the other goal line at the other end of the field Wow. So you're saying that it's not really about aiming, it's more about technique, and what exactly do you mean? Well, there's a lot of technique involved. Mainly you've got to be set up so your bones handle the majority of the weight. Our archers are shooting about 50 pounds, and these bows that they're going to shoot today are around 20 pounds. Is that right?
Oh, my gosh. You've got to be kidding me. I had no idea that these things weighed that much. And explain, Eddie was explaining, but we actually have a guy standing here right now dressed as Robin Hood, and his name is Boston Rob. That's really weird. That is the most ridiculous. We're going to have all this video footage, by the way, on MikeyShow.com later. Have you ever known an Olympic athlete, an Olympic archer, to actually dress like Robin Hood? No. Oh, really? And I don't think that would help him out very much because the clothing's a little loose and baggy. See, Rob?
In the way of the shooting. Oh, great, Rob. Where we shoot is a little bit different than Robin Hood's shot. So, now, we're going to not be shooting 70 meters. We're going to be shooting, I don't know, one meter? I don't know how far we're actually. What is it? Our competition today is going to be a distance of 10 meters, and they're going to shoot six arrows, and we're going to do it alternating to keep things exciting. And we'll be able to keep a running score that way, and they'll come down to the very last arrow, and whatever archer shoots last, it's going to be a lot of pressure on them on that last arrow. Now, when I got here early this morning, eddie and b rob were practicing what kinds of things were you showing them uh just some basic
technique so they don't kill each other or kill someone else here in the audience and also with the arm guard to protect their arms so it doesn't look like we've been beating them or anything like that because you can get a black and blue uh bruise there if you don't use a proper safety equipment and also without the proper technique you could hurt yourself looks like b rob uh already has uh slapped himself around here a little bit but uh you know he's gonna be fine he's gonna be fine he's a little sweaty but other than that he's doing all right oh wow how about that okay i'm feeling great i'm in the mindset as you can see i'm looking awesome so uh let's shoot some arrows dude how about if by awesome you mean you like other guys then absolutely you're looking
awesome and uh eddie uh how are you feeling well they call me hawkeye mike um i believe that i am going to uh totally destroy robin queer over here and uh that's not nice that's not nice well i think it's time to uh get down to the last event it's all going to come down to this ladies and gentlemen and uh yeah yeah yeah can anybody like just come down here and learn how to do this or do or only olympians can come here to the olympic training center guy actually we are uh in the process of starting a club that will start here in two weeks and it's going to be open to the public It's going to be open Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
And for more information, you can call 619-482-6058. Again, that number is 619-482-6058. What are the ages? Like, how old do you have to be? We don't have any age requirements. Oh, Jake can do this, Mike. Well, my son's only two. I don't know that he's really capable yet of doing bow and arrow. Well, we've started people as young as four or five. but I started when I was around 8 or 9 years old, and that seems to be about typical age, but it's open to ages of all ages, and we actually had a guy on the Olympic team this year
that was 53 years old. Really? Whoa. Well, I guess anybody could do it. All right, well, let's get started here. I guess we'll have, why don't we have Rob go first? Rob won the last event. Rob, why don't you go first, and we're going to alternate. We're going to go back and forth, right? Alternate. Yeah, and basically the way they do it in the Olympics is each archer will alternate and we'll even announce the scores as they go in the running score and who's ahead by how many points. Awesome! Now, when I was young, my brother taught me how to shoot. And the first thing that he wanted me to know was which eye was my master eye,
meaning which eye did I aim with. For me, it was my left. For a lot of people, their master eye is their right. Do they need to do any of that stuff or no? For this purpose today, not really. But if they were going to shoot for a long period of time, I would recommend it. I'm actually right-handed, but I'm left-eyed dominant, so I always shot left-handed. That's the deal with me. I'm right-handed, but I'm dominant. How do you know what eye is dominant? I can show you right now, Scott. I can have you do it right now. Okay. Pick an object like, say, this light pole right here, right? And everybody that's standing here and anybody that's listening to do this,
except those who are driving who should not be doing this. But do you see the light pole right there? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Both eyes open. Put your finger up until you're going to be seeing double, right? You'll see your finger double. Yeah. It'll look kind of double. Yeah, yeah. Put it until it looks like you're covering the light pole with your finger, but it's going to seem double. It's almost like you're looking through your finger, right? That is trippy. Okay, now cover your right eye. Close your right eye. Are you still covering it? No. Okay, cover your left eye, or now close your left eye. Are you covering it?
No. Okay, well, that doesn't really make sense. You should be. Whichever eye you are still covering it on is your master eye. I'm both eye dominant. Is it possible to have both eyes be dominant? There is a certain degree where you can be not quite as dominant in one eye or the other, and some people actually kind of switch back and forth. But for the majority of people, I'd say like 99% of the people of the population, They have a diamond in the eye. Well, okay, let's get this thing going. And Boston Rob is going to start.
He's wearing his little Bo Peep outfit. And Robin Hood, sorry, sorry. Guy, can you, I'm going to give the microphone over to you and have you explain exactly what's going on and call the action. Okay. All right, B-Rob is about to shoot here. The highest scoring value is going to be 10 points, which is in the center of the target. Also call it an X. Oh, my gosh. I'm nervous. P-Rob shoots a nine, nine points, almost the perfect score. Shocking. Here you go, Robbie. Wow. Well, let me explain. When you're looking at the target, the very outer portion of the target is white.
The next inside ring is black. The next inside is blue. Blue. And then red in the middle. And yellow is in the middle. So he's in the middle. I mean, he's not a bullseye, but Rob was on the very outer edge of the yellow. Not bad. Yes, that's correct. Each color has two rings inside of it. So the highest scoring value you can get is 10 points, which is in the center of the target, and that's yellow. And so is nine points that is in the yellow also. The next color is red, which has eight and seven points. Then blue is six and five.
Black is four and three. The white is two and one. And anything outside of that is a miss, and you get no points. Uh-oh. All right, Eddie is up. Now we have Eddie. Eddie demonstrating his wonderful technique here. Oh, hello. oh and it's a seven seven points oh my gosh b-rob has a two-point lead at this point wow eddie let me ask eddie is getting some instruction and let me ask what what are you instructing tell tell everybody what you're telling eddie well um he had his uh his left
hand on the bow grip at a sideways angle and that's not using correct biomechanics so i'm trying to help him out a little bit with his alignment okay and eddie what was it like for you when you were doing it what's a what's the experience like sexy that's very sexy very sexy nice is it is the is it uh is it difficult to do a little bit there is a lot of technique it's you have to be very athletic like golf oh how about that rob we're not gonna go there you don't have to be athletic to be a golfer hey he's an idiot hey please all right rob is going and a guy here let me turn it over to you and you tell everybody what's going on all right looks like uh robin hood
I mean, B-Rob. B-Robin Hood. B-Robin Hood is having a little bit of trouble with his wardrobe here. Get it together, man. Oh, man. He appears to be using his hat as some type of aiming tool. That's odd. Oh, it's a 10. 10 points. Holy crap. Dead center bulldog. Dude, I know this. Hang on, hang on. Before you clap, complete and total accident. No doubt about it.
I had my eyes closed. What happened? Wow. Eddie is getting in your head. What are your thoughts at this point? I don't know what's going on. I mean, he wasn't even hitting the target earlier. It's the outfit, Eddie. Where's your outfit? Come on. I need to go get one of those. Where did I go? Get your little pipe in the chain. Okay, wait a second. Okay. All right, Eddie is getting ready to take a shot. Now, let me give the mic back over to Guy. Now, at this point, Eddie really has to score something big to keep the match within reach. Or B-Robin is going to run off with the match. B-Robin Hood.
B-Robin Hood, excuse me. Oh, and it's another seven, seven points. I'm not going to cut it. So Eddie has 14 points right now. B-Robin Hood has 19 points. That's a five-point lead for B-Robin Hood. Now, let's get, I want to hear the professionals instructing Eddie and telling Eddie exactly what to do to correct. What was the issue, and what can he do to correct it? Well, he hit a little bit high, 12 o'clock, so he's right above the center. I think he's just going to have to control his bow arm, and hopefully they'll also come down.
There's a movie where they say you've got to keep your pimp hands strong, Eddie, so remember that. Remember that. Yep, come on, pimp. Boston Rob is going to be taking shot number three, and Guy, go ahead and call this. Okay, B. Robin Hood. He draws back. Comes a full draw. Oh, and it's a seven. He opens the door. Oh, there it is. For Eddie. The door has been opened. Bob, someone was blowing on the back of my neck. You are so creepy. Yeah, right. I mean, if he wasn't creepy enough in that outfit, then he says that.
That was weird. Yuck. Eddie, he has shown a little glimmer of life for you. What do you think? I got to hit a good one here, so I'm going to picture his face right in the center. That should do it. That's a good stretch. That should do it. Guy, call the action. All right, here comes Eddie. He draws. He's a full draw. Aiming. He's getting some help from the crowd here. Oh, and it's a nine. There we go. He comes back at only three points lead for B. Robin Hood. Let me talk to the coach. What did he do right there?
Tell us what he did right so that he can sort of think about that the next time. That one actually looked worse than the other shots. I think you're all lucky. That's all I did. Eddie, now I want to ask Eddie and Rob, in all seriousness, is this kind of fun? It looks fun. This is the most fun I've had in a long time. I love this. I want to do this all the time. Wow. Yeah. I wish he was like hunting something live, though. Okay. Okay. That's not cool. Let's have Sky run across. Oh, ha, ha, ha, ha. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Edward.
You'd have to put a ham out there. I'll tell you that much right now if I'm going to be shooting anything. Shut up, Mike. All right. Rob is getting ready. And go ahead, Gabe. Did I just say Gabe? Gabe. No, guy, guy, guy. Did you just call him gay? Why did you call him Gabe? That's rude. That is rude, Mike. Sky guy, Gabe is confused. You're gay. It's tricky. All right. Sounds gay. Preparing for the shot. Oh, and it is a five. Oh, no.
Five points. Oh, no. But in the red or yellow, in the blue, a five. Wow. A, B, Robin Hood. What did Eddie just say? Something about the socks. The socks aren't choking right now. That makes no sense. Choking like the socks. Can you tell me what's going on with you? I am whipped, and I love it. That's a good point, Rob. That's what's happening. Oh, is that what the deal is? You know what? My aim, I have to aim, like, completely away from where I want the arrow to go, Because I was shooting earlier, and when I would aim accurately, it would go about two feet up from where I wanted it.
So I don't think I'm aiming low enough. I have to almost aim at the ground to hit a bullseye. You blew it! Eddie just rolled his eyes and shook his head. Eddie, what do you make of this guy? You know, obviously he's got to stand on his teepee toes to even reach the dang bullseye. It's so weird, because when you put the bow on the ground, it actually is taller. He's got to use his feet and everything. All right, Guy, call the action. All right, we have Eddie here going with his fourth shot. Right now he just needs an eight to tie.
And it's a seven. B-Rob maintains a one-point lead. Eddie has a really nice group high in the seven ring, just above. Right now it's B-Rob 31 points and Eddie 30 points. Wow. This is a lot closer than I thought. Here goes B-Rob. It's going to be. Fifth arrow. Okay. Two arrows remaining for each archer. B-Rob and Hood is having a little problem with his wardrobe here. It's a wardrobe malfunction. Yeah, wardrobe malfunction. It's like the Seinfeld pirate shirt, if anybody's wondering. It's more like the Janet Jackson in the Super Bowl.
And it's a nine. Oh, my gosh. What did you do? I aimed Lola, like I told you. Wow, Rob could win this. That was actually a really lucky shot. He actually knocked the arrow incorrectly on the bow. Oh, my gosh. Cloud. Sean. You have a, the feathers on the arrow are actually, they're designed so that you'll have one arrow, one fletch coming, one feather coming out, and he actually had it facing in, which should have sent the arrow kind of far to the left.
I just had a moment right now. I just had a moment where I looked at Rob dressed as Robin Hood. And the thought, this thought came into my head. This is my job. Like you get paid to do this. I'm working. I'm working. No way, Jose. How does my wife, you know, ever say anything to me and I go, honey, you know, I'm working. That's crazy. You're looking at a guy in a Robin Hood outfit, bro. So funny. Guy.
All right, we have Eddie with his fifth shot. Come on, Chetty! Come on, Eddie! B. Robin Hood has 40 points total. Eddie needs a 10 to tie the score. And it's a 9, almost a 10. One point for B. Robin Hood. Now, Eddie, when you're doing this now, are you kind of getting a feel for it? Yeah, I was just aiming too high, and so I aimed a little bit lower, And I went, boom, went the dynamite. Now, B-Rob is shaking his head right now.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Same thing with Rob, he said. And boom, goes the dynamite. Yeah, now B-Rob and Hood's down to his last arrow. Okay. Final arrow. Bring it home. This is on now. And this is when the heart rates get up to about 150 beats per minute. I wanted to let everybody know that Rob is just to, you know, for new listeners, terrible under pressure. That is true. He's a choker is what I understand. He's a choker. Never mind. Like his baseball team. Sky. Just like the Boston Red Sox. B. Robin Hood may choke on this arrow.
What do they call that when he does that? Pulls it back. Oh, they call the draw, and it's a seven. He opens the door wide open. 47 points total. Cheddar, the door's open. Eddie needs an eight to tie. If they have a tie, we have to go to a sudden death, one-arrow shoot-off. They choked. They shot there and choked on applesauce. Eddie is waving it off like I got this one in the bag. If Eddie shoots an arrow in the nine ring, he will win the match. Well, NCAA. Great under pressure.
Another gold medal and defeat B. Robin Hood. Very nice. He draws back. prepares his aim he's got this I don't know and it's his eight we have a tied score oh my gosh tied score Eddie is smiling at Rob shaking his head going unbelievable I can't believe okay so let's do this this is so crazy we're gonna go to a one we're gonna take a break and when we come back we're gonna go to a one shot shoot off whoever's closest to the bullseye
wins this challenge it's come down to this it's the ultimate tie it is it is we'll take a quick time out and be back. It's The Mikey Show, live from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. Live from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista on Rock 105.3. Yes, Eddie. Okay, we are back.
Rob is making sure that I know that Eddie has to go first this time. Okay. We are back. It is 9-0-2. McCain announced his running mate this morning. He picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Oh. Yes, he did. Yeah, I'm familiar. We don't know either. Ladies and gentlemen, sports, welcome back. We are at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. We are about to go to our final elimination. As opposed to Chula Vista, Alaska. Well, you know, I'm just trying to be descriptive here, kid. I'm trying to be descriptive.
I'm trying to be descriptive. Now, we are standing here with a guy who has been teaching us everything there is to know about archery. Boston Rob is wearing a Robin Hood outfit. Yeah, that is a fact. Eddie is wearing yellow tennis shoes and a San Diego State t-shirt. Weird. I'm in the archery zone, Mike. Yeah, you are, buddy. What? Yeah, you are. It's a lot like the danger zone from Top Gun, but different. Oh, neat. It's with a feather. Okay. See that little dog right there? That's my next target.
Eddie, now hang on. Oh, how dare you? How dare you? That's somebody's family member. You stop it. Rob? I'm wicked nervous. You're wicked nervous? Yeah. What do you think? Like, do you think that you'll be able to remember the things you've been taught? No. And, like, the more I think about it, I don't know how I did so well before. So, like, I don't even know what I'm doing right now. I think I blanked out and forgot everything. That is solid. It comes down to this. They're going to take one shot apiece. The person that gets the closest to the bullseye wins. And this time, Eddie goes first.
Guy, go ahead and call it. All right. Oh, man. Let's hear some noise for Eddie. Let's hear it. Wow. Come on, Chetty. He's got a lot of pressure riding on this one shot. He's got to put in a good score to put the pressure on B. Robin Hood. Cheddar power. Cheddar, cheddar, cheddar Cheddar it up He's aiming It's real cheesy Yeah it is He shoots It's a nine Nine points The cheddar power did It's just on the nine But it is a nine So if B. Robin Hood Gets a closer nine Or a ten
He will win Oh Robbie No worries buddy You can do it Come on No pressure Yes Eddie Olympians don't taunt B. Robin Hood's hit I'm going to smoke you like a cigarette right now. All right. That sounds a little homoerotic. All right, the smack talking has begun. They choke. Whatever. B-Robin Hood has to focus on his technique and all the mechanics that we have taught him earlier this morning. And this is where I really get upset. He's really focused right now.
He hasn't even pulled back yet. He's taking his time. Oh, there he goes. It's usually a bad approach, and he shoots a nine almost a ton, almost a ten. So who has the better nine? So now what? Now what? Actually, they have to shoot one more because they both scored the same value. If they shoot again, the same score. We're going to be here all day. I know. Can we just say, though, that mine's way closer to the center than Eddie's? It is closer to the center, and what I thought was really funny is, like, Rob didn't think about it that time.
He just pulled back and wham, he let it go. Are you going to do that again? Yeah, wham. Just like George Michael did. Exactly. To hear that, Sean, wham. All right, relax. Okay, everybody just take it easy. Now, this shot, B. Robin Hood's going to go first. Oh, I see. B. Rob, you ready to take it away? No. If you shoot an X here, you could seal your victory. What is an X? An X is going to be dead center. Oh, okay. There's a little X inside the center of the tin ring. The X or the spider. The spider.
Just put one of the plastic arrows against his neck. Keep it low, Rob. Rob's focused intently here on the target. And his Robin Hood get up in awe. Taking his time again. I guess so. That approach worked last time. Oh, and he shoots a nine. Almost a ten. Almost a ten. He puts the pressure on Eddie. Eddie, what are you thinking right now? Well, I need a bull. So I'll just do what I do. Come on, Cheddar.
All right, Eddie, take it away. Take it Chetty. Yep. What does that mean, keeping it Chetty? Is that an archery term? It's like keeping it real. No, that's not an archery term. Yeah, Mike, if you have to ask, you just don't get it. All right, we're keeping it Chetty. Here we go. Eddie is preparing a shot. Chetty, Chetty, Chetty. He's pulling back. Chetty, Chetty, Chetty. He remembers his technique. Cheddar. He's aiming. Cheese. Getting some... And it's a nine. We have a tie again. What is going on?
Now it's closest to the final. All right, now we go to closest. What do you think, Rob? I don't know. Look at how those are touching the red. Come on. Give me the win. Are you kidding? They're both in the yellow. It's as fair as it gets. Who's closer to the middle, though, Mike? Come on. I think they're both exactly even. Come on, buddy. Come on. All right, let's... Okay, come on. Let's see what you can do. Come on, everybody. Eddie goes first. Come on. All right, yeah, and the official ruling in archery is all the arrow has to do is touch the higher scoring value ring. And so both the archers are tied.
Even though Eddie's arrows are a little further away from the very center than B-Rob's. Now the pressure is on Eddie. This is the final arrow of the competition. He's shaking profusely. Oh, wow. That's not good. Some words of encouragement from the crowd. Cheddar. Chetty, Chetty, Chetty. Coaching instruction. And it's an eight just out of the nine. Oh, my God. He opened the door. Yeah, that was the problem. He brought this up to expectations and chill. Yeah, that was the problem, Ash.
Dang it. I blew it for him. Sorry, Chet. Okay. This is it, Skye. Are you guys talking? We can't hear you. This is it. Okay, well, we'll call it even though we can't see anything. i see a palm tree looks nice hey mike we can't hear you oh the battery died on the wireless microphone that is great well you know the mikey show these things happen what can you do well that's okay we'll just take a little break okay stretch a
little rob's gearing up yeah keep it low rob he looks ridiculous that's his only option i mean really strategy he can work with well because he's already so low it's like what's the point there you know that's his i mean that's the money right there yeah look at that get up that is ridiculous we don't even know yeah sean what are your thoughts on this i wish i could see it i know i know don't you wouldn't that be nice did you ever have to go to a shoot off in your archery day sean oh i've uh i've done that many times oh that sounds creepy for some reason i don't know why but i think we're back oh we're back we're back hey mike's here mike's on the mic all right uh rob is
going to take his final shot and uh i wonder if it did something for him or against him yeah that's true it could have iced him just like a professional kicker in uh football there's a lot going through his mind right now he's probably thinking don't screw up don't screw up and at the same time he's probably wanting to win this yeah what he's got to do is focus on his technique and what got him this far in the in the competition so far if he chokes it's because he's focusing on the outcome and uh he's got to focus on focusing on eddie breathing on his neck right now and it's a nine oh b rob win oh my goodness
Rob, it looked more like an accident, but it did. In fact, Eddie is shaking Rob's hand, and Robin Hood just took a bow. Okay. What do you think? Total accident, dude. I was shaking like a puppy. You know, you haven't heard me say that before. Do puppies shake? I'm not aware of that. They tremble. I don't know about that. I heard him, I heard guys say, you know, he's got to focus on everything that he learned and not the outcome. And the second he said that, I started thinking about the outcome and how I lose at everything.
And I kind of wanted to go home. Yeah. And then I, next thing you know, I'm letting go of the arrow and it went in. So I don't even know. I just want to thank Eddie. This has been a shocking morning. Eddie, what did you think about that ridiculous shot? Well, you know, I thought my chances were pretty good when I looked at Rob. He was shaking like Michael J. Fox. Now, that's Eddie. Eddie, no. No, no. No, no. No. Well, you know, I was like, oh, he's going to miss. Oh, you can't make a joke about that. It's inappropriate. No, the guy was under pressure. I give him credit.
He made the shot. I did not. And, you know, until the next one. Came down to the final shot. Boston Rob, look at him. He's all bruised up. Really? He's all bruised up from where the wire was slapping against his arm. Oh, ouch. And, listen, it's all done. But we're going to be here until 10 o'clock, and we invite people to come out here. Well, we still have to do the medal ceremony next. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do the medal. Do we have medals? Yes, we have medals, and we have a little stand. We have a little stand. We have no one to stand. I'll stand in the bronze place if you like. All right.
All right. Well, let's do that next. Rob, you're going to get a medal. Yeah! All right. Okay, calm down. It's not actual gold, Rob. It isn't. I mean, you can't sell it or anything. All right. He's now twirling his belt from his costume. Okay. We'll take a quick time out. Come back live from the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California. Yeah, okay, thank you. And we'll be back after this. It's the Mikey Show. It's Rock 105.3. We're hoping he'll slip into something more comfortable, like a coma.

From the Cricket Wireless Studios, this is the home of the Monkey Morning Show. I almost just passed out. I got you. I got lightheaded. I got lightheaded. It took me over for a second. K-I-O-C. San Diego's Rock.
10-5-3. It's the sporting competition that's second to most. Back to the Eddie and B-Rob Sports Challenge on Rock 105.3. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. Make some noise, P1s, all of you that came out here to check it out. Very nice. We are at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista right now, and a lot of P1s actually came out here to check it out. Anybody can come out. Be here until 10 o'clock this morning, and I just want to say thank you to everybody that's come out so far. And also thank you to the Olympic athletes that came out here to help us out and explain how these different things work.
And it's been a really good time out here. So if you want to be here where we are, all you've got to do is take the 805 South. And when you get to Olympic Parkway, take it and head east, go six miles. And on the right-hand side, after about six miles, you will see the Olympic Training Center. And they've got event parking all set up for you so you can come and check us out. We're underneath the Rock 105 canopy. And like I said, we'll be here until 10 o'clock in the morning. It's all over. Boston Rob is dancing around right now. It looks like he's really having a great time. He's wearing his P1 site T-shirt.
What is he doing? Eddie, how are you feeling? I'm having so much fun. Calm down. I'm eating donuts and dancing. Eddie, you know you're going to be hearing this probably until the next Eddie B. Rob Challenge. Well, you know, Mike, I regret goofing around on the Greco-Roman mat. I think I could have broke his face. Right, right. And then that would have obviously hindered him in the rest of the competition. And I believe he was doping. Yeah, I do, too. I think that that is definitely being questioned right now. Actually, no, he's just a dope. Oh, that's what it is.
There's a big difference. That's what it is. Just don't beat you. Just don't beat you. Oh, wow. That is the goofiest song. You're a dopey Jew. That is the dopiest song I've ever heard in my life. Well, here's the deal. Boston Rob, how do you feel? Making me so mad. How do you feel after defeating Eddie in the challenge? How do you think I feel, Mike? I feel like I'm on top of the world. Woo! Yeah, go me. That's a strange celebration I've ever seen in my life. Do you see how gross he is? He's shoving donuts in his face, and he has his chewed piece of gum between his fingers. And now he just put it back in his face.
That is so gross. I don't want to waste the gum. But, dude, your hands were just all over like a bow and arrow and the wrestling mat. Just so you know, he's been chewing that gum since we got here. What's your point? Okay. Anyway. The flavor was gone at 7 a.m. That's my point. So how do we do the medal ceremony? Is there like a song we need to sing? We're actually going to skip the medal ceremony. Well, Eddie, we've actually done a lot of work for this thing. I've heard that it's... Nobody wants to see it. If you can, Seth, do you have that Olympic bed there that we can play the Olympic bed? There we go. Let's, ladies and gentlemen, turn our attention to stage right, where you see a podium all set up. You got to go take your podium.
Eddie, B-Rob, over to the podium, please. We need a picture of you on your spot on the podium. Eddie. Eddie. Eddie is. Yes, I'm so excited. You're better than this, Eddie. I'm sorry. Let's see. I've got the medals in my hand. And, Skye. Yeah. Let's see. Let me have you hold this. Okay. Here you go, yo. Oh, I don't think it's on. It's turning the bottom on. Hello, hello, hello. There you go. All right, folks, it is time. No, Eddie, you're in the wrong spot, Eddie.
No, no, no, Eddie, that's not how it works. No, Eddie, you, it's not. We have an official, by the way, this is an official medal podium. This is awesome. B-Rob is wishing right now that he could actually be this tall. He is standing, okay. Oh, my God, oh, my God. Eddie just pantsed Rob. Eddie just pantsed Rob. Rob is getting back up and he wants to shake Rob's hand
but Rob, like a little brother, is saying no, I won't shake your hand Rob, up on the podium Come on guys, get up there First we present Eddie with his silver medal. Eddie, here is your silver medal. I'm putting it around your neck. Why does it say that, Mike? It says worst. That's not nice. And now, Boston Rob, your gold medal that says first. Let's hear it for these guys. They're holding their hands up.
They're holding up their fists like Black Panthers. Wait, that doesn't make sense. It's kind of ridiculous, and we don't really understand why they're doing that. Eddie threw his medal off. Eddie. And is walking back into the podium. That will bar him from any future Olympic competition. That is true. We're going to kick you out of the country. I can't believe you did that. Rob, congratulations. Well, Eddie, it was you. You actually did that. Where's your spirit, guy? Great job. Over there. You're all winners in my book. Rob says you've dropped something, Eddie, and he's bringing it over to you. Yeah, that is yours.
There wasn't a mistake in the judging. No, no, come on. Stupid German judge. Stupid German judge. Okay. All right, well, that was certainly one of the most dramatic. It's okay. I mean, there's a vibrate setting, isn't there? I don't. I mean, Mike, isn't there? Isn't there? Don't cell phones have vibrate? I don't know. Okay. The engineer's cell phone went off. All right, well. Second thing. We're learning. Yeah, well, you know.
We're all new here. Business 42 years. I'm okay. Well, listen. Oh, my God. You deserve this. I dedicate this to you, Skye. Thank you. Thank you. But it says worst on it, and I'm not the worst. You deserve it. I mean, that's obviously you. So, I mean, I watched everything today. I have flip-flops on. I would, but I got flip-flops on. All right, Russell. No, I will never. Let's get you in that singlet. Oh, no, thank you. Come on, baby.
I do not, and don't call me baby. All right, fine. All right, we'll go singlet. Singlet-less. Oh, okay. Skye, will you ever get in a singlet? No. Never? No, I don't think those things are made for ladies. Do it for the troops. We got some stuff up top that needs to be covered. She prefers the mud. I gotcha. All right. If you have not already heard, John McCain has selected his running mate. And Skye, who is it? Well, it's Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
I see. And, I don't know, let me guess, 30 years of experience in the top level of government. Must be, no, what were you saying earlier? First term. First term. First term governor. So, yeah, that should definitely shore up that argument that he would have against Obama. Right. You know, not very experienced. That wraps things up, right? Yeah. Election over. Yeah. So do they actually need to have the election? Yeah. Why bother? Yeah. Okay. Well, that is the deal, and I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot about it. And Sky was saying something earlier that I actually really agree with, and that is I can't wait to see the polls.
What are the polls going to say? Yeah, because as of yesterday, the polls, they were like neck and neck. It was pretty much a tie between Obama and McCain, and I don't know what this pick today is going to do because everyone was thinking, oh, it's got to be Romney. You know, Romney's so strong in the economy. That's what we need right now. That's what McCain is lacking. No, a first-term female governor from Alaska. Wow. I don't know if you know this, but Heidi Montag said yesterday. It's the Secretary of State. Yeah. I'm surprised Heidi Montag was not the selection for vice president. That would have made more sense.
Right? She's more popular. She actually said yesterday that she was not the vice presidential choice for John McCain. Yeah. Well, you know Heidi. She, you know, she's a media whore in my opinion. So she had a little photo op yesterday while grocery shopping and full hair and makeup. And, you know, fancy clothes. Yeah, that's how she rolls. And when she was asked, because she had said that she, you know, endorses McCain. Like, okay, great. So she said that she is McCain's vice president, which at this point would probably be a better pick. Oh, she said that she was his vice president.
Yes, yes. Yeah, right. Turns out she's not. No, but maybe probably would have got more votes. Yeah, probably would. Jennifer Lopez was at the Democratic National Convention. Yes, she was, Mike. And, well, you know, paparazzi follow celebrities, wherever they go. Vibrate. It's called vibrate. Vibrate. I don't know, Mike. That's a third time it's gone off. I don't know what to say. It's a third time that an engineer's phone ring. Oh, vibrate.
Mike, he's learning. I'm going to text him, can you please put it on vibrate? You should, you should. It takes certain people longer to learn things, Mike. That is true. Eddie, we know what you're doing. Please don't. We're moving past it. We've moved past it. Anyway, so Jennifer Lopez, Mike. Remember? Remember? We were just Jennifer. Look at me, Mike. Jennifer Lopez. Focus. Jennifer Lopez. Jennifer Lopez. Okay. So Jennifer Lopez was attending the Democratic National Convention in Denver and had this beautiful, something that you may see, like, you know, the first lady wear, this beautiful, like, red suit, all professional.
Right. With big old sweat pits. No. I mean, like, it was Ashley style. And of course the paparazzi got plenty of pics of it That's something to be proud of Why would you be proud of that? Well, sweaty pits are You gotta just represent Eddie It's like if you got it, flaunt it Ashley has not been able to get a handle on that She's been working on it It's a work in progress Ash, what's the last thing you tried?
Saran wrap always that doesn't go there depends that's a diaper and that's a tampon don't say that bad word both of you I don't know kind of hit a wall with the whole concept of diodes don't say it like that it's important don't look it So I've just been kind of, like, boycotting it lately. Boycotting deodorant?
Yeah, and just kind of going with that whole angle, which has been, like, whatever. Ah, natural. Yeah, it kind of makes me smell and working out too well. Right, right, right. Well, there you go. That is yucky. Whatever about the whole sweat thing. Okay. Vladimir Putin claims that the U.S. Rob, that's not a joke. That's a nice last name. No, it can't be. Yeah, it really is. Now, wait a second. That's the Iron Sheik's tag team partner, right? No, it isn't. No, it's the prime minister of Russia. He sings the Russell National Anthem, makes the crowd go crazy.
USA! USA! USA! What did he do? Oh, he said he did an interview with CNN yesterday, and you know how Russia has had the whole, like, thing with Georgia, and they were at war, you know, and people are... It's because of the Falcons, right? What? Everybody's mad at them in Georgia. No, not the state. The country, Georgia, which is right next to Russia. Well, anyways, they had this little war going on. A little war. A little war, you know, a little tank, a little shooting, a little bombing. Pew, pew, pew.
I got you. Yeah, that's audio. No, you lay down. I got you. There's no pent on me. So Putin says that he suspects someone in the U.S. provoked the conflict in Georgia to make the situation more tense and create a competitive advantage for one of the candidates fighting for the post of U.S. president. Really? Yes, it's all our fault, Mike. He's a strange man. Yeah, okay, whatever. Chargers are playing tonight.
Eddie is going to be on the radio. Yes. Another Hall of Eddie radio day. That's right. Awesome. I'm starting at 3 o'clock on the fantasy football show and then pregame show after that. So, what is this, Eddie? This is like none of the starters are really going to be going tonight or not? This is the last preseason game, and so nobody's going to play. It's just a bunch of guys that aren't even going to make the team. Can you guys believe that next weekend is football season? Yeah. That's crazy. Yes. That's awesome. So, is there a game next weekend? Yeah. Oh, my gosh. There's nothing, you know, the Chargers are done until next Sunday.
And then does the season kick off on a Thursday? Thursday Night Football. Do you know who that is yet? Colts and Bears, I think. Yeah. Pretty cool. I can't believe football season's already here. In Ohio, a school banned cheerleaders' skirts. Yeah. All right. Nice. So they can't wear anything? No. Bottomless. Yeah. I don't think that's the deal. I call the bottom of the pyramid. Awesome. Yeah. Okay, that's not what Mike meant by that. Basically, we all know cheerleaders' skirts are really short.
Why are you staring at me like that? I'm just enjoying your story. Okay. Oh, my God. Well, I don't think it's any secret that cheerleaders' skirts are really, really short, right? Yeah. Okay. But, you know, nobody has really thought about the fact that those skirts normally violate most high school's dress codes. Is that right? Well, yeah, you can't wear a skirt that short to school unless you're a cheerleader. Right. So, basically... They got butt huggers on? Well, they're called kick pants, Eddie. They're not called butt huggers. That is not their official by name. It doesn't say that on the...
You go into Big Five, and you go in the butt hugger department. No. You'll be wrong. They're kick pants. You've got to just ask for the rump wrappers. No. Again, not what they are called. That's news to me. The old cheek sacks. Okay. Those are for the guys. Oh, yeah, you're right. I've got some on right now. Okay. I couldn't tell. This is the superintendent talking about it. Her name is Elizabeth Lowley. Cut 50. We've had parents who are in support of the cheerleaders wearing their uniforms during the school day.
And we've had parents who are saying, if my child can't wear his or her shorts as short as the cheerleaders, I'm going to be upset. So, the school is now saying that the cheerleaders cannot wear their skirts anymore, and they need new skirts that are three inches above the knee. Oh, come on. Yeah. What? So, they're going to be like an Amish school. Yeah. Might as well wear a full-length gown. That is true. It's like sky cheerleading. No, that would be topless. Remember Magic Mountain? Can you please let it go?
Wait. Let it go. A reference made nine years ago. Rob remembers it. Right? Let it go already. Got to take a quick time out, and we'll be back. We know, geez. If you haven't heard, John McCain made his vice presidential selection, and Zeth actually has a press conference between the two of them queued up on the TV. Nice. Yeah, so I wouldn't mind hearing a couple of seconds of that. Zeph, you got it ready? Yep. It's presidential candidates for the Republicans. Let's hear what this is all about.
Are you watching SportsCenter? I'm ready. It sounds like. Thank you so much. Oh, my God. Thank you, Senator McCain. And Mrs. McCain, for the confidence that you have placed in me, Senator, I am honored to be chosen as your running lead. Just a little bit more, is that? More volume. I will be honored to serve next to the next president of the United States. This is Sarah Palin.
Or not. This is Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. First term. I know that when Senator McCain gave me this opportunity, he had a short list of highly qualified men and women. And to have made that list at all, it was a privilege. He's also the assistant manager of Applebee's in English. And to have been chosen brings a great challenge. I know that it will demand the best that I have to give. And I promise nothing less. I don't know that the job actually pays in Alaska. She's dressed as a moose wearing a t-shirt that says visit Alaska.
I want to start with my husband Todd. The new first gentleman. She's the former dishwashing champion of the great state. There it is, Skye. First one. So sexist. First one. So sexist. First one till November. That deserves a gold. The audience here applauding for that. Thank you. That's ridiculous. I don't want to know. I had promised Todd a little surprise for the anniversary present, and hopefully he knows that I did deliver.
And then we have... And live from New York, it's Saturday. Yes. Lifetime Alaskan. He's a production operator. All right, thank you. That's enough. All right, I've heard it. We're now getting Todd's resume. Todd is the bomb. Like, we care. Aye, aye, aye. Who the heck? Aye, aye, aye. There it goes, Mike. Yeah, there it is. That was the end of the clip? Did she have to get home to make dinner? Oh, second one. Second one. Sky, second one. Yes. Second one. There we go. There's more.
Is November here yet? Sky, at some point, they're going to say, how do you be vice president if you're putting your makeup on in the mirror i would not say that you know what i'm saying i don't know what you know that's coming russia better be careful that 28th day okay all the ladies here shaking their heads shaking their heads yes that is true no no mike please uh let's get jill uh Kintner over here.
Jill is a bronze medalist in the BMX category. This is the first time BMX has been in the Olympics. Dude, is she going to bronze medal? That's crazy. Yes, she has it. Against the Duke. Whoa! She's carrying it in her back pocket. It's heavy. That's crazy. Jade on the back of it. Yeah, Eddie's holding her bronze medal right now, and it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool. Now, Jill, you're from Seattle. Is that right? Yep. So how long, you know, what was the training experience like? Like, did you come out here to San Diego to start your training?
Yeah, I pretty much as soon as they found out that I was going to do it, I moved straight away, like packed up shop, came out here. Wow. The track wasn't even finished when I moved out here, but I was just like, this is the place to be to get started in this process. And it worked out really well. And how hard was the track here in the Olympic Training Center compared to what you had been riding on at home in Seattle? Was it different? Yeah, it's way different. made like a supercross format just for the olympics so we have like a three-story ramp that we go down and we go like 40 mile or 35 to 40 miles an hour down this ramp and hit way bigger jumps so this is the only track like this in america okay so this track here was extraordinarily
hard at the olympic training center well yeah i mean after about a thousand times around it it's not as hard right the first time was pretty scary sitting up there so when you got to beijing And what was it like in Beijing? It was crazy. Like, I didn't even have to think about that track. That track was actually easier. I mean, it's supposed to be a complete replica, but that track was a lot easier, I thought. Really? Yeah. And now, Michael Phelps won gold in the BMX. Is that correct? No, Eddie. No. He won gold in, like, what, every event? No. That was not the deal. I thought I read that.
I think he took fourth. Oh, okay. Oh, ouch. So, as a bronze medalist in BMX, who, what countries or, you know, who came in, who got the silver and the gold um well in women's it was france in america the men uh actually got for america got a silver and a bronze as well so we did really good we took three of the so but it was the french chicks that took it yeah it was i mean it was a crazy race like a lot of people crashed for some reason i mean there's a lot on the line and whatever women drivers I knew that was coming She won the bronze
I think you passed her quota today Sexist remarks I think we should get him on top of that No way So the French Did you guys know going in That the French were going to be real strong Yeah actually those two girls Have been dominant all year long The one girl is like a 16 time mountain bike world champ And stuff as well So I mean I've seen her over there How old? How old are you if you're a man or a woman doing this sport? Okay. What, Ashley? She did her man thing.
Well, actually, like, the sport, like, on a domestic level, goes from five years old to, like, 65. I've seen, like, old people, like, older people. Oh, no. You just made Sky really mad. Yes. I'm only 30. What? Old. Eddie. And he's trying to hold her hand under the table to say... Yeah, that's what happened. But the thing is, it's like a family sport, so you can go to the track, and then everybody wants to try it. So, I mean, it's like you've got the whole spectrum of levels and people. But what about competitors? Like, what kind of ages are they?
It's the same thing. I mean, you can be five years old and win a world championship, and you can be... Well, I mean in the Olympics, though. Oh, the Olympics is like a special format. They've changed a lot of things for it. So the supercross style is like, it's elite format only. So how old are you? I'm 26. And in the Olympics, what is the age that you have to be if you're an Olympic BMXer? I think you have to be older than 17. And then, I mean, the girl that won was 31 or 30 or something. Or so they say. Yeah, you never know, man. You can never trust them.
Yeah, Chinese. Well, it wasn't the Chinese. It was actually the French. Duked us again. It was actually the French that won. So did you eat crazy food over there? Not me personally. have in the past, but they had scorpions on a stick, caterpillars. Really? At the concession stand? I literally saw a cat sausage salad, too. No, you did not. I swear to God. You just ruined Sky's day. You just ruined Sky's weekend. Are you kidding? Are you kidding? No. Put a little Tango dressing on there. Shut up! You don't talk
about my babies like that. It's Logan, Eddie. It would be Logan, not Tango. Oh, sorry. Logan's the fatter one. Stop it. Ew. I mean, I didn't think I thought maybe that was, like, a bunch of stuff that we made up, but literally I saw it there once, and I don't know. You saw the whiskers and stuff? Eddie! No, no. So what kind of stuff did you... I didn't see any strays anywhere, so... I told you something. So what did you eat out there? Actually, they had us pretty set up. Like, you could go to all these safe houses, and, like, USA had a set up. A safe house? A safe food house. A safe food house.
I mean, in the village, we have, like... They had, like, an Asian section, international, Mediterranean, salad bars. They have, like, Black Market Big Macs in there. Oh, they did. They had a full-service free McDonald's in the village. Really? Oh, free? Did you try it? That's crazy. Michael Phelps ate everything. That's right. You don't eat like that, right? I was in training. You don't eat like that. So what do you have to eat as a BMXer, as a woman's BMXer? It's the same thing. I mean, if you're tired, you eat carbs. If you're sore, you eat protein. It's, like, just a balance, really, you know, just eat nutritious. Right. Now, earlier, I heard you say you haven't your boyfriend lives in Seattle still, right?
No, he's Australian. He's Australian. So he lives in Australia. Yeah, but he's a downhill mountain biker. So he's been on tour like all summer long and I haven't seen him in a while. And I came here and he was in Australia training. So how often do you guys get to see one another? It's been monthly gaps. Really? He was in China, which was really awesome. My whole family came over, and it was kind of good to see everybody together because I haven't seen them in a while. Now that it's over, now that the Olympics are over, do you go back to Seattle and just start life? Or do you start training immediately for the next Olympics, or what do you do?
Well, personally, I'm going to take a week off. It's been slammed with me. A whole week. Yeah. Wow. Don't spoil yourself. What will you get in? Well, I'm going to go drive up the coast and make it to Seattle, and I get a week home. On your bike? I get a week home and I have to get a knee surgery actually I have no ACL still Can you talk to Sean Merriman? Yeah, our boy Sean Merriman needs the same thing but refuses to do it So you will I'll come back here to get that You will come back here to do that
And so after that, then what? I don't know Maybe I get to go to Australia again Yeah, it could be that Well listen, we appreciate it Jill Jill Kintner is a bronze BMX winner Let's hear it for Jill. And we will take a break, come back out here to the Olympic Training Center. We'll be back after this. It's the Mikey Show on Rock 105.3. This is the Mikey Show.

Well, that was a pretty intense day of competition. You're telling me. Oh, dude. That's crazy. I never want to run again. I am wiped out. And I love it. And I love it. I got first place, and I love it. Rob, how do you feel? He's actually got on his Styrofoam medal right now. He's really proud of it. I feel first-errific. Yeah. First-tabulous. Yeah. That's not a word. I feel the best, Mike. There you go. The best. There you go. And I'm sure that we will not hear about this ever again. Right.
I beg the differ. I'll probably call everybody tomorrow morning, bright and early. Yeah. Oh, no. Please, please don't. Just going on my Olympic gold medal walk to the bathroom first thing in the morning. All right. Let everybody know. Way more information than I needed. Okay. Sky actually has some new movies that will be coming out this weekend. Yeah, we got a couple movies coming out this weekend. First, we have Disaster Movie, which is, you know, from the same people who do the scary movie, you know. You're putting those out. Now, what is this parodying? Well, this is parodying, like, disaster movies.
Like the ones that came out in the 70s or, like, what disaster? Well, it says, this time around, a group of beautiful 20-somethings try to make it to safety while every known disaster and catastrophe happens. Like Titanic. Yeah. Turista. Got it, got it. Yeah, so we got Vanessa Manila, Kim Kardashian. Glitter. Carmen Electra. They're all in that movie. Also out this weekend, Babylon AD, which I haven't even heard of. I haven't either.
Vin Diesel. Oh, come on, man. Where's Talyn? What's battle? Babylon AD. Yeah, Talon, what's Babylon AD? I know you know. What is it? He has to know. What is it? Even Talon doesn't know? Do you know? Oh, my goodness. What is it? Keep kidding me. Give him the mic. Talon, you have to know. Tell us all about it. From what I saw on the net, it was like a futuristic, like a big brother thing where the government is watching every move you do and Vin Diesel plays this guy who is like a killer or whatever. All right. All right. All right. Yeah, he's, I guess, protecting a woman, but he doesn't know that she's carrying an organism that could produce a genetically modified messiah.
That is correct. I don't know. Thank you. Affirmative. And then one more movie out this weekend, College, which is, it stars Drake Bell from Nickelodeon's Drake and Josh. And I guess it's a wild weekend during a visit to a college campus. So it's not like what happens after a high school musical or something like that. Isn't that the goofy kid from American Idol in this? Chicken Little? Yeah, I thought I saw him. Kevin Kovias is in this movie. Come on. The American Idol kid that looks like Chicken Little. Yeah, right? Genius. Whatever.
He's 44 now. He plays a professor in college. So those are the three new movies out this weekend. 5701053 is our number. You can call us at the beginning and end of every show, and it's open forum. So anything you want, call us now. We didn't really do text today, but on Tuesday when we come back, we'll be doing that. You guys got any plans for, like, the Labor Day thing? You guys doing anything? What's that? Oh, wow. Right? Sounds like me. Does sleeping count? Yeah. I mean, that's about all that's going to be going on. Probably buying some more tomato plants.
Oh, dude. Oh, wow. You're going off. Big time. That's right. It's going to be great. Rager. Rager, yeah. I use glow sticks when I do that. Careful, the cops are listening. That's right. Zeth, do we have any phone calls? Yep. All right. First, before we do that, I just want to say thank you to Rick, who engineered out here today. I want to say thank you to our promotions department, who did an amazing job out here getting us all set up out here. Thank you to all you P1s that showed up and supported us on your head. Thank you to Zeth, who's been running the controls back at the station.
Farley is helping us out, too. Farley is helping us out. And so very cool. Let's take a couple calls. Mikey Show, hello. Good morning, San Diego. Oh, there he is. Sanjaya. Sanjaya. Love him. What's up, dude? Hey, man. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Dude, they're going to have wiener dog races at Qualcomm Stadium this Saturday. Get out. Come on. For real? Yeah. Yeah. And I have a little weenie, so I was thinking of entering them. You get it? That's personal, dude. You get it? That's what I heard about you.
You get it? It's a family show. Who am I, bro? No, I really did. I was going to interim this Saturday. So just to give you guys a heads up, man, check it out. It actually really does have a wiener dog. Hey, Rob, another thing you can win. Yep. Small wiener race? Yes. Yeah. Well, thank you, Sanjay. We appreciate it. Another gold for Rob. Next line. Oh, man. Mikey Show, hello. Hey, Mikey. What's up, man? I know that the P1 Army has rabid Harry Potter fans out there.
Yes. So I just wanted to let everybody know that my Harry Potter band is going to be playing a show up in Santa Monica at the Harry Potter Mecca store called Whimsic Alley tomorrow. Hey, careful. Cops are listening. Santa Monica? Santa Monica. Wow, you guys are on like a world tour. We are on tour. BYOB. There you go. All right. Well, thank you. Bring your own broomstick. Yeah, that's right. Bring your own broomstick. Okay, good. Thank you. All right. Thank you.
Next line. Mikey Show. Hello. Hey, bud. This is P1 Guardrail. What's up, man? Hey, I got a little advice for Ashley and her pit problems. They actually have a surgery where they can remove her sweat glands so she doesn't sweat at all from them anymore. Yeah. I know I've gotten multiple. It's like Botox for armpits. But he says that you can actually remove your sweat glands. That's weird. Oh, is that different from Botox? Yes. Yes. This is an actual surgery he's talking about, where they would actually, you know, go in there surgically to do something about it. I might have to look into that.
That might be my next option. Yeah? Yeah, I'm going under the knife. That seems pretty extreme. I'll do it for like 35 bucks. That's a good deal. Next call. Mikey Show. Hello. Hey, I just wanted to let you know, this is P1HM, I'm so sorry I couldn't be there. I had to really do something, and I just want to let you know that this is such an awesome show. Oh, thank you, man. We appreciate that. Awesome! That's very cool. Thank you very much, man. We appreciate it. At this time, on Fridays, I always wrap up the show on Fridays by doing something called
Giving Me My Testimony. Today's going to be different because I don't know that we've ever done. I think we did one other time. We were at the Q, I think we did, where it was a testimony that was a live testimony out with everybody. And I'm going to do things a little bit different today because a lot of times when we do it, it's a little bit of a, it almost takes on a real somber kind of mood to it. Every time we do it is always kind of a somber kind of mood to it. But, you know, it doesn't have to be because the truth is, is that even on a day like today for me, today for a variety of different reasons, I have found myself being frustrated and kind of getting frustrated with different things that have happened. And the truth of the matter is, is that Sky knows, man, and Eddie knows that years ago, years ago, a bit of a different story.
I was a different human being years ago, and I got addicted to alcohol, and if you go to my website, to MikeyShow.com, and you type in the keyword help, you can read my story, and you can find out all about what things used to be like for me. but I used to be a different person. And because of that addiction, I was at a real low point in my life where I knew that operating my life my way was not working anymore. And one night I was laying in bed and I just said, I just pretty much gave it over to Jesus Christ. And I said,
you're going to have to do this in my life because I can't do it anymore. I don't know how to run this. And he started making these changes happen to me. The cool thing about it is, is that you can actually see those changes. Those changes are not something that that I just talk about. They're real. They're real changes that have happened in my life. And I am a different person today than I used to be. I handle things differently. And I'm just a different guy. And I think I'm more pleasant to be around than I used to be in the old days. And those are the changes that he made me. I mention this because I know that there's a lot of people that are listening that are still in the
place that I used to be. I know that there are people listening right now that are still caught up in addiction and still have a problem with dealing with their emotions and dealing with their anger and dealing with different issues that pop up in their life. And there are a lot of people that are listening right now that have a sense of being desperate or a sense of being hopeless. And I tell you this story about me because, man, if he was able to take a scumbag like me. And I'm telling you that I was a scumbag of all scumbags. And if he was able to take a life like mine and turn it around to where today I have a beautiful wife that I love so much and a little boy that I love so much and friends that I love so much and a life that I have that's so
different today than it was then that isn't hopeless, that isn't desperate, that's actually really awesome and i can say that all of that happened because i allowed jesus christ into my life you can't do if you're listening and you're feeling any of that stuff you're going through any of that stuff um and that's the way that i did it and so at the end of the show on friday i tell you that story and i offer you um that hope through jesus christ and we play this song by a band called third day really listen to the lyrics of this song uh the song is called tunnel And the band is called Third Day.
The album is called Wherever You Are. And that's where God can meet you. The lovely and talented Missy is up next. What do you got going on, Rob? I'm going to be out tonight in Oceanside at BevMo. So you can come see me out in Oceanside at BevMo at 5 p.m. Right on. See you again on Tuesday. Mike shows out. Late. The pain that you're feeling But I'm gonna try
And give a little hope to you Just remember What I told you There's so much You're living for There's a light at the end Of this tunnel There's a light at the end Of this tunnel For you For you And there's a lot at the end of this tunnel Shining bright at the end of this tunnel For you, for you
So keep holding on You've got your disappointments and sorrows And you ought to share the weight of that love with me Then you will find out the night of tomorrow It brings a new life for your eyes to see So remember what I told you There's so much you're living for
There's a light at the end of this tunnel There's a light at the end of this tunnel for you For you, yeah There's a night at the end of this tunnel Shining bright at the end of this tunnel For you, for you So keep holding on Keep holding on So remember what I told you
There's so much you're living for There's a light at the end of this tunnel There's a light at the end of this tunnel for you For you, yeah There's a light at the end of this tunnel Shining bright at the end of this tunnel for you For you, yeah There's a light at the end of this tunnel For you, for you, yeah
Shining right at the end of this tunnel For you, for you So keep holding on Keep holding on Keep holding on You've got your disappointments and sorrows But I'm gonna try to give a little hope to you
