The show opened with Mikey, Sky, and the crew admitting they were morbidly transfixed by a disabled-tire airplane landing, then arguing over whether Sky could evict a gopher without killing it and which chemicals germaphobe Sean would trust near his seat. Sky and Ashley reviewed the Republican convention by criticizing Giuliani's evasiveness, Joe Lieberman's attack on Democrats, and George Bush's awkward satellite pauses, while Eddie explained why Randy Couture's return against the much larger Brock Lesnar looked dangerous. Longer comedy debates had Sean defending Matlock and a 15 percent maximum restaurant tip, the group dismantling action-movie clichés, and Mikey mock-defending Padres management against Eddie's charge that ownership broke its stadium-era promises. They also set Ashley against Megan in a banana-eating contest for Metallica tickets, traded stories about lying to get jobs, and mocked the new 90210's acting and nostalgia before Sky and Rebecca defended its appeal.
What happened, in order
Watching the Blown-Tire Landing
Mikey admitted that while praying for everyone aboard an American Airlines jet with a blown tire, he was also morbidly waiting to see whether its live televised landing would become a disaster.
Sky's Gopher Dilemma
Sky refused to poison a gopher destroying her yard, while the others argued that trapping or relocating it would merely outsource its death.
Sean's Germ-Killing Standards
Sleep-deprived germaphobe Sean demanded bleach, ammonia, 409, or similarly harsh cleaners for the food and spit expected around his seat during Ashley's eating contest.
Convention Night Arguments
Sky and Ashley criticized Giuliani for dodging questions about Sarah Palin, Joe Lieberman for attacking Democrats, and George Bush's satellite speech for pauses that looked confused without the missing applause feed.
Couture Returns for Lesnar
Eddie explained Randy Couture's surprise UFC return and worried that the much larger Brock Lesnar could overpower the older, smaller heavyweight despite Couture's elite conditioning.
Sean TV Picks Matlock
Sean enthusiastically presented an old Matlock murder case as essential television while the rest of the room treated the courtroom audio as his dullest recommendation ever.
The Great Tipping Fight
Sean insisted that even perfect restaurant service deserved no more than 15 percent, prompting Sky, Eddie, former servers, and callers to argue that low or missing tips punish workers for problems they often cannot contr
Action-Movie Logic
The crew and callers catalogued action clichés including hacked alien computers, villains explaining death traps, heroes who never reload, immortal bad guys, endless countdowns, and fruit carts destroyed in every chase.
Banana Battle for Metallica
Ashley prepared to face caller Megan in a one-minute banana-eating contest for Metallica tickets as everyone argued over whether bananas should be green, yellow, or soft and spotted.
Mocking the Padres Excuses
Mikey role-played a Padres spokesman and blamed patience, prospects, revenue, and even the marine layer while Eddie attacked ownership for breaking its promise to build a winning team after Petco Park opened.
Lying to Get the Job
Callers and staff confessed to inventing diplomas, Padres fandom, sociology research, and YouTube views to land jobs or credit, then debated whether resourcefulness excused dishonesty.
The 90210 Verdict
Mikey and Eddie mocked the new 90210's acting, nostalgia, and trendy video-blog plot while Sky and Rebecca defended the premiere as an addictive update of a show they grew up with.

6-0-6. Tonight's a big night for the Republican National Convention when controversial VP pick Sarah Palin will speak. Padres have lost eight in a row on the road. They got smashed by the Dodgers last night, 8-4. You guys think Palin will talk about her daughter? I don't know. She'll go there? That'd be crazy. You know, if you guys are counselors, what do you say to her? No. You say, don't bring it up. No. Another time. You don't go to the, hey, listen. You're not going to do yourself any favors by hiding from it. You could talk about it in other forums, but not for this. Yeah, it would be too distracting tonight. I wonder what she's going to do. Does she go for it? Will she say, draw attention to it? 570-1053 is our phone number. And we are available for any topic at all right now. And we do that at the end of the show, too. So as we start and end the show, you can call it anything you want.
35253 is our text. So call and text and get in there and get into it. Let's talk. I can't wait to talk to Sky and Ashley later about 90210. Oh. Please. I made a lot of jokes about that last night. Of course I watched. Stayed up till like 10.30 last night. Yeah. I went to bed right after and I mean it was worth every minute. Oh my goodness. Oh, my goodness. The sleep that I lost. Right. The kids in our 30s. I am Mikey. I am the host of the show. And I am 38. Not completely stoked with the, you know, getting thrown off my regular routine at home with painting going on. Oh. That's not my favorite thing. Scott, you would hate that, right? I hate anything outside of my regular routine. Yeah. It's the worst. You just want your own little routine to go down exactly the same way. Oh, yeah. Made a BLT yesterday with my tomatoes that I grew out in the garden. Oh, yeah, yeah. This is one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. Awesome. The boo was all about it. We made nachos for dinner last night, and I couldn't even see his nachos because he took the full tomato and chopped it up and put it all on top of it. And it grossed me out.
He loved it. Will you stop? Well, he loved it, but I was pretty grossed out. Yeah. And yesterday on TV, I watched an American Airlines flight land live on television with a blown tire at LAX. Oh. That's the worst. What does human nature do? Oh, Mike. Talk to me. That's why people watch NASCAR. I know. It's terrible. It is. It's horrible. Meanwhile, dude. I'm telling you, check this out. I'm so conflicted. I'm praying for the people on board, and at the same time, I'm like, is it going to crash? Is it going to crash? Like human nature, I'm like, is it going to crash? If it was an empty plane, you would have been rooting for it to crash. You know what I mean? If no one was aboard. Yeah, if there wasn't any human beings on it, you'd be like, come on, don't, come on. And then when it landed, you'd be like, oh, come on.
Nothing. Now, is it the disaster part of it or is it the kind of, like, history? Like, oh, I saw something that was going to be talked about. I think both. Like, there's this spectacularness of, like, you know, almost special effects going on on television. You know, meanwhile, I'm going, let them be all right. Let their families be not worried, too freaked out, you know. But I'm watching. I'm like, is it? Is it? Is it? And. CNN must have been so mad because they had this expert on to talk about it, you know? And he's like, he goes, well, you know, these pilots are trained for events like this and really these planes are set up so that they can lose a tire in the same exact way that this plane has lost a tire. I expect nothing to go wrong at all. I expect this to be almost a routine landing. Yeah, so basically this is a non-news story, CNN. And you can tell that the woman that's talking to him is so irritated. Right. But you can never be too sure, right? I mean, you can never. And he's like, you know, you can almost practically hear the person talking in his ear. Don't say that. Say that there could be an element of danger. Yeah, the CNN anchor is like, and little do we know, there could be a hijacker on this point. We don't know. We don't know. What do we know? What do we know?
Who knows? Eddie is our producer, our sports guy. Love it. He is 35 years of age. And his favorite football team is the San Francisco 49ers. And Eddie had a phenomenal fantasy football draft. I give him an A. I give you an A. I give you an A. Oh, congrats. All right. I'm writing an article about you in the paper. All right. Good job. I don't know. We'll see. I mean, everything's a crapshoot right now. You just never know. But, I mean, I like... I can't get the taste of my draft out of my mouth. Will you stop it? Listen, you want to hear this? I think you made some risky moves. What number were you? Four. Out of how many people? Twelve. Isn't that a good spot? Great spot. Okay. You know, I mean, he rolled the dice with his first pick and kind of went from there. He had guys that he wanted and he went for them. I don't care about quarterbacks. I'll say that right off the bat. I don't care. No, because we don't get very many points for them. We score a touchdown in our league. We get three points for that. You score a touchdown with other players, you get six. I don't know how that makes sense, but hey, his name is Russell. If you want to talk to the guy, he's upstairs. You can get a hold of him any time you want to get a hold of him. Running Brax.
Oh, this is awful, Eddie. This is awful. I was a little surprised with your first pick. On the board, these are the guys that are listed there. No, Frank Gore, on most fantasy things that I've seen, he's late first round, maybe. Did you do your research? Of course I did. Well, I mean, what's going on, man? This is awful. This is awful. Wow. Listen, hey, this is awful. I'm not going to make the playoffs. Oh, no. You don't know that. I'm not going to make the playoffs. Hey, what kind of attitude is that? Seriously. Please. Frank Gore. Who's that? Turn that frown upside down. Michael Turner. Kevin Smith. Hey. Great director. Wide receivers Andre Johnson. That was a good pick, yeah. Brandon Marshall. That's a good pick. Whoa. Tight ends Kellen Winslow. That's a good pick. Place kicker Nick Folk. Dallas defense. That's awful. Sound solid. Awful draft. What is so awful about it? Everything. So dramatic.
It's not even about if you win or lose. It's, did you have fun? It's really just playing the game, you know what I mean? It's just kind of, did you have fun? It's like watching that thing every day. It's like watching that thing every day. Every weekend, just following the players is really what it's all about, you know? Yeah. Best of interest in that. Zeth didn't have a bad draft. No. Zeth did all right. He got like 19 running backs. Yeah. Eh, what are you going to do? He did all right. Stockpile. They're all starters. Sky, if you ever played fantasy football, you'd probably win your first season out. You'd probably win the Super Bowl. You and your March Madness win, you know? Yeah, yeah. I picked my team colors. Mascot. Yeah, mascot, who's attractive. Our fantasy football team had, like, a spokesmodel that was, like, taking, you know, doing all the work. She was, like, putting the names up on the board and doing all this stuff. High class. Yeah. And she was like making suggestions to people. And was that appreciated or no? She's cute, so we let it slide. She, you know, when JB came up, she's like, you don't have a quarterback yet. And he looked up like, what? Is she speaking? It's not allowed in here. So he goes, who do you suggest? It's pretty funny. This guy is our news girl, and she's 30 years old.
And she lives in Rancho Santa Escondido. It's just called Escondido. Nice place. That's right. Thank you. Just Escondido. It's a community. Of one. Of one. Yeah. She is currently suffering from some gopher problems, but that is because she refuses to harm the gopher. Yeah. The kindness of her heart. All my neighbors are, like, killing the gophers because my whole neighborhood has gophers right now. You got to, Sky. You got to smoke them out. They know. Smoke them out. They're like, hey, safe house. Safe house. I will not. I will not. Sky, you have to. And the boo yesterday was telling me the next step is poison of some sort. And I said, no, it is not. Yes, it is. No, it is not. Kill them all. You want to live in your yard? I will put in. a rock garden before I got out of here with that. Get him out of here. Well, my mom was saying that I should just trap it and then drive it down the road and release it in somebody else's neighborhood. Did your mom, come on, no. You said, Mom, what if I release it in your neighborhood? Well, whenever you release it, they're going to kill him, so you're basically killing him.
I'm just saying, if you do that, you're killing them. Well, hey, how about this? What if you got it and then you released it somewhere way out, you know, where there's no people? Or sell it on Craigslist. Yeah, what if you put it on Craigslist? Or eBay? Or feed the dolphins with it? Yeah. I don't think dolphins eat that. Scott, you know I support, like, saving animals, but... You do? Huh? I do, but when the time comes, like, my dog has fleas, I kill those... I killed them all. You killed your dog? Wait a minute. Yeah, Skye, what about non-cute animals? I do have an issue with insects. They're, you know, it's tough. Spiders, you know, if it's a non-scary looking spider, we'll take it and put it out in the backyard. But if it's a scary spider, we have to kill it. Yeah, it has to go. Yeah. So, but we try and save those two. Yeah. What a bad person. Would you eat your dog? Would you eat your cat? No, coleslaw is murdering us. Shani O'Boy is our sound effects man. 38 years of age and will be in studio with us tomorrow. He got two hours sleep last night as a result. Eddie just rolled his eyes. Like doing stuff or anxiety? No, the people being in here tomorrow. Are you kidding? He says it freaks him out. There's going to be people in the studio as guests tomorrow. There's going to be a couple of strangers in here. I got it, man. Okay.
My eyes open, staring at the ceiling. For two hours. They didn't have a lot of sympathy for this Sean stuff. It's called none. Sharni, you can see my studio if you want. Oh, yes. Ashley. Can I go stay with Ashley? No, we need you, Sharni. Can I go stay with me? We need you. I would love for you to sit by me. I'd hate to throw, you know. Stoke the fire. Gasoline on the fire. What? There's actually going to be more people. Why? How is that? Oh, we're going to have Ashley's eating competition tomorrow. Oh, that's right. Forgot about that. And the promotions will be in here filming it. It's funny because stuff flies out of their mouth. Well, yeah, because it gets messy right in the area where Sean sits. Yeah. It's going to be gross. Spit up everywhere. Hard to clean that. Ashley is our assistant producer. Wait, wait, wait. And she is. Wait. Wait. Go ahead, Sean. What's up? I'm not going to be sitting in a lot of, like, half-eaten food and spittle and all that. Of course not. We'll wipe it up. It'll be full best we can. No, no, no, no, no, no. We have paper towels. We have paper towels. No. Oh. What do you suggest, Sean? Well, if there's going to be anything like that tomorrow, I've got to have cleaning supplies.
Okay, what would you... Don't laugh. No, no, no. I just remembered a joke. I'm being serious. What would you recommend? Like, what should we get? Well, I like 409. Why? Why 409? Why 409? Because they don't have 410. Mike really found that funny. Listen, it's strong. If it was available, if you'd have it, it only goes up to 409. At this point, it kills about 409. Because they don't have 509. Sean, what is it? What constitutes a good cleaning product as a germaphobe? I like Windex because it has ammonia in it. Anything with bleach. Anything with bleach or ammonia. Strong cleaning agents. We'll have to get some of that for you. You love Pledge? Pledge. That doesn't have anything in there. Doesn't that just shine wood? Yeah, it just shines wood. Simple green does not work. Simple green does not work, Sean? No, I don't like simple green. How come?
Because it's like, it's bio-safe and it's ridiculous. Baby stuff. You need something that's really going to kill any kind of organism. That doesn't really work either. Wait. Why doesn't OxyClean work? I'm sorry? Why doesn't OxyClean work? Because, again, it's an organic product. You can't use organic products. Just use a napkin and water. Just wipe it up. Are you a stupid... No. That is a legitimate question, Sean. I'm a human being. Quit messing with me. What about a sandblaster? Does that have the sort of cleaning agent? How about a Mexican lady? If I can clean your face with it, maybe. Oh, no. Here we go. Personal attack. That's right. It always goes through that. Shut up, dude. That's all you do. Whoa! Why are you smiling so big on there? Why are you attacking me? Why are you smiling on there? He is sleep deprived. I am upset. The guy is sleep deprived. That shouldn't have made you so happy. This early in the morning. I'm called for and you, sir, should have checked your attitude at the door. Thank you for saying that. I'm glad you said that. Wow.
Ashley is our assistant producer. You're a jerk. That is my friend, Mike. You do not need to talk to me about that. I will fight to protect his honor. You will? No. What? Ashley is our assistant producer. She's 25 years of age, and she is an animal lover. Wow. Yeah. That's the truth. She's an animal lover. Big time. She goes green. Yeah, big time. She does not. She does. She says it, but doesn't. She just looked at Skye and she just mouthed to Skye in regard to Eddie. Like what? WTF? She throws away a styrofoam cup every day. Now she's looking at you. Now she's looking at you. Now she's looking at Eddie, and she's got the hands up in the air, and she's doing the WT. What's this? What's this, bro? What's this? Don't put that away later. She gets so mad when people question her green. She's got her mug today. She changed out the styrofoam. Mommy's got her Adderall today. That's right. Mommy is flying high. Mommy is dialed in.
That's right. Locked and loaded. Locked and loaded. I like it. When I heard her first break this morning out of the gate, I'm like, she took her Adderall. Like, she said two words. She said two words. And I looked at her and I'm like, she took her Adderall today. The two words were, hey, everybody. It was. It was. It was. It basically was. Mommy's locked in. Yes. That's right. And there is Boston Rahm. Fine young gent from the state of Massachusetts. Oh, hello. That's right. He's from Boston. And he still has the accent. But when he goes back home, forget it. He gets that thickest New England accent when he goes back home. Or when he drinks. That is true, too. About that. That is the truth, too. That is the truth. And he is a singer-songwriter for the show. Yeah. And he is also a regular contributor. Nice. How do you like that? What? How do you like it? What? Regular contributor. That's a good title. Then there is Roosevelt Zethian Oates III, Jr., Esquire, MD, DDS, Inc. Rosie. He's our phone screener, so when you call, he is our first line of defense. That's right. What he does is he removes the clutter.
From the air. We don't mind the riffraff. We don't mind anybody. We just need to clear the clutter. So we can't have coming through. Yeah, yeah. We can't have somebody call and say, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. I would too. And then Seth goes, what do you mean? Yeah, that thing you guys were saying. And then Seth goes, all right, thanks for calling. That's about it. Yep. He's trying to get to the people that have something to the point to say. That's a P1. P1 calls in, turns down the radio, gets to the point, and doesn't cuss. That's a P1 listener. So call us now. 570-1053 is our phone number. And we do open phones right now, so you can call about anything you want. Sky watched the Republican National Convention last night. Yes, you did. Yeah, I watched bits and pieces of it. I didn't watch the whole thing. What did you take away from it? Well, first off, that... I've changed my mind. That Giuliani is a douche. Wow. That is point number one. The man saved New York. He did not save New York. Well, he did. The firefighters, the medical responders, they saved New York. He is widely recognized as a guy that was instrumental in saving the city in New York during 9-11. Douche. I don't agree with his politics because he's very liberal, but...
You know, you should have seen him. I mean, because he's actually speaking tonight. But, you know, he was, you know, doing interviews with CNN and stuff. And you're not a fan. Oh, I want to punch my TV. He was making me so angry. Like he was so combative. And of course, they kept asking him. They wanted to talk about Sarah Palin as the VP pick. Right. And he was just so combative. And, oh, well, you know, how do you feel about Sarah Palin? You know, being the governor of Alaska and what kind of qualifications. Oh, well, Obama has no qualifications and no one's talking about that. Like, I mean, he was like he was like practically fighting with the people. And they're like, no, we get that. And, you know, we've discussed that point. But what we'd like to discuss now is your feelings on this pick. And, oh, oh, Obama. Well, what about Biden? He is. I think the deal with him is that he is clearly. he's like the Hillary of the party. Like it was a no brainer for him that he was going to be the nominee. No brainer. Back in January, it was a no brainer. Like, oh yeah, I'm going to run for president this year. And so when the stuff started going down and he was like, he was taking it easy with all the primaries. He wasn't going anywhere. He wasn't doing anything. He's like, eh, I don't need to. I got this locked up. I got this locked up. And then all of a sudden, all this like momentum started to go.
with the huckabees and the mccains and the uh mitt romneys and he was like what's going on this isn't uh what i expected so i think he's he's mad what else guy what did you um Well, and then, you know, we start watching Lieberman speak. And, you know, we watch the, you know, salute to the troops and a story about a Navy SEAL that died and was honored. And that was really nice. And military families, that was really nice. And then, you know, George Bush and his via satellite thing. And then when Lieberman started to speak, we had to turn it off because my husband was, like, getting so upset. Like, I really thought he was going to have a heart attack. Like, I could see the anxiety. rising in my husband. I said, you know, he is all he is. Well, first of all, Lieberman, he's on HGTV right now. Lieberman's a Democrat, calls himself an independent. But when it comes to social stuff, he's all about you two. He ran with Al Gore. Yeah. I mean, he's all about you guys. The only thing he's not, he was up there bashing Obama. The only thing that he agrees with, with the Republicans is stuff on like the war.
Like, he agrees with that stuff. But, like, all the social stuff. He was speaking at their convention and he was bashing, you know, what we're trying to do, what the Democrats are trying to do. He's all about McCain. Yeah, he's not a fan of the Democrats anymore. No. Who is? Everyone. Aye, aye, aye. Boo on you, sir. I didn't see any of it, so I can't say. It was interesting. I was bummed, though, because I wanted to see Miles speak, but I guess I turned it on too late, or sometimes they don't cover every speaker, so I didn't get to see that, but I wanted to. Ash, did you watch? Yeah. What were your impressions? Well, I saw President Bush speaking from satellite, and that was the first thing I turned on. Yeah. And I got to tell you, this one threw me for a loop because he kept pausing. Yeah. And he would like say something and then pause. And I'm like, oh, my gosh, this is so embarrassing for him. Like he's waiting for the script to come through. Like he clearly doesn't know what he's doing. Like he doesn't know. And then like finally they cut to the reporter and he's like, we should explain that the reason why President Bush was pausing was for the applause. But we couldn't pull in the applause feed. So I'm watching it. And like everyone else, too, that was a viewer, assuming that like President Bush like was waiting for the teleprompter to keep going. He would have these huge, long, awkward pauses in between speaking.
Really? Which just made him look dumb. And then it didn't even it wasn't even that. And then I saw Laura Bush get interviewed. Yeah. And she's good. I mean, she just in her red pants suit. He should let her do the talking. She's got it. She's got it locked down. Yeah. Yeah. From San Diego, Miles McPherson, senior pastor at the Rock Church from right here in San Diego, was asked to speak at the Republican National Convention. What they wanted him to talk about was character. Cut 31. Now, you heard it said that character is doing the right thing when no one is watching. But I want to propose to you that character is doing the right thing because someone is always watching. Now, you may not see God, but he's here and he's always watching. And like a loving parent, he desperately wants us to call to him for help. I heard that earlier. I was listening to the audio. It made me very sad to listen to. It's my own issues right now. I feel like God is kind of disciplining me right now because I'm like a bad kid. And I'm just not paying attention like I should be. And then he talked about Hurricane Gustav. Cut 32. So we come to you today with a humble heart to first thank you for the evacuation opportunity provided to everyone in need.
We ask that you provide safe travel and loving people to assist them. Thank you for the abundantly generous spirit of the American people who consistently reach out to those in need. Thank you for the courage of the public servants whose lives will be in harm's way. We ask that you graciously protect and strengthen them as they serve our cities. There he is, Miles McPherson. Wow. Sounds so good. Yeah, he sounds good. He's been in here, and he's very well-spoken, and used to be a San Diego Charger, too. I should have TiVo'd. I didn't TiVo anything. President Bush last night called the Democrats the angry left. So, yeah, a lot of fireworks, a lot of stuff going on. 5701053. We've got people lined up here that want to get on the air, and I want to put everybody on, but we've got to take a break real quick. So call us, 5701053. Our text is 35253. P1 Hall of Fame broadcast is the day after tomorrow. We are gearing up. Take the day off. Take Friday off. Yes, do it. And go to Harrah's Rincon. Take the day off. We've got Sean TV on the show today. Ooh.
We have to find a competitor for Ashley's eating competition. Ashley is one and one. She's won a competition and lost a competition. We're going to do a little lyrical gangsta today. Got an interesting topic for you. You ever lied to get a job? Great YouTube clip of the day today. It's pretty hysterical. Your phone call is 570-1053. It's Regan in the stand-up spotlight. I have three. I saw this documentary recently on whales. This guy has dedicated his life to telling you what the whales are saying. Wow. I don't know how you'd argue with him when he turns in his report. And he just throws it down there. Well, here's what the whales are saying. Okay, thanks, Charlie. Just looking back. Here's what the whales are saying. Yeah, Charlie figured it out. They show how he does it. He's out on a ship. He's got a pencil. And he deciphers the whale noises as he hears them. You know, he'll hear like, you know, he's like, oh.
He's lonely. No, you're lonely. I'd like to do that for like two weeks and then turn around and find out that the door's squeaking behind you. Why can't you just have a call, everyone else? Now listen, I could tell you all about the U.S. Border Patrol, but until you get to hear it from somebody that actually does it, it may make a difference for you. On the line, I have Todd. And Todd, how do you refer to yourself? An agent?
That's right, Mikey. This is Senior Patrol Agent Todd Nagle with U.S. Border Patrol. Or for the P-1s, this is P-1 Migra. There you go. There you go, man. And how long have you been doing what you do? I've been on the patrol seven years. And when you first went into it, you did the academy thing. That's correct. What could you tell people that would really get them excited about wanting to become a Border Patrol? What do you really love about your job? You know, this is one of those jobs, Mikey, that I actually look forward to going to work every day. That's pretty awesome. Yeah, not many people can say that. It's very rewarding. It's not the same thing day in and day out. So, yeah, it's just one of those really exciting jobs that pays really well, and you have that government security job. So, you know, hey, what else can we say? That's pretty awesome. Now, if people want to know more, I encourage them to go to borderpatrol.gov. And, hey, Todd, thanks for coming on, man. Thank you very much, Mikey. All right, we'll see you. My name is Luis, and I'm here to confess a really bad habit. Hang on. Hello? Hey, what's going on? Okay, I'll talk to you soon. I didn't even realize I had a bad habit until... Hang on. Hello? Yo, amigo. ¿Qué pasa, man? Sure. You got it. I didn't know I had a bad habit until this guy approached me in a bar and said... You know, that's a bad habit. What's a bad habit? Hang on. What? No, it's not raining here. Sorry, you were telling me.
What's a bad habit? It's obvious. Drinking that light beer. Try Tecate Light. It tastes like real cerveza. So I tried Tecate Light, and after one drink, I broke my bad habit of drinking flavorless light beer. It feels good to now be bad habit free. Hang on. Hello? Hey, what's going on? Break the habit. Try Tecate Light. For those who want more. Responsible drinking is a good habit. Imported by Cervezas Mexicanas, White Plains, New York. That's backing up here pretty much from Division Street up to that 94 freeway. You've got South 15, slow and go as well out of Escondido now off to 78 to down to Via Rancho Parkway. You're close to right looking pretty good, though. South on side of the 5, pretty much good to go out of Oceanside all the way down to the South Bay there. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rockwood of 5.3. Roger Federer and Andy Roddick were two big winners at the U.S. Open yesterday. Here's a text message. Hey, Mikey Show, has Eddie heard the latest about Randy Couture coming back to maybe fight Brock?
Eddie's saying. Eddie is putting his hands up. Eddie is putting his hands up like, wait, hold up, wait a minute. It was the craziest thing I have ever heard. What is this? Well, I don't know if you are aware of this, but Randy Couture has been in some major league contract battles with the UFC. He's wanted out. He wants out bad. And he hasn't fought for them, got his title taken away, refused to fight for them. wanted out of his contract because he wanted to fight Fedor in affliction. And so that was the big thing. He's going to wait his contract out, and then once his contract's done, he's going to go fight Fedor, and that's going to be the big fight of the century, blah, blah, blah. So yesterday, some crazy announcement comes down that the UFC has come to terms with Randy, and Randy's coming back, and he's going to fight for the UFC and fight Brock Lesnar in November. What? And I'm like, wow, wow. But OK, now you guys know me. I haven't been paying attention to the sport. And so I love it. I think it's a really exciting sport and everything, but I don't know what's up and down. Right. So just as a very like sitting in the not even the backseat, sitting in the trunk for the last two months or two years with this sport, I'm going.
Man, isn't Randy Couture too old to fight somebody like Brock Lesnar, who looks like he's really a very young, up-and-coming, strong competitor? Well, here's the deal. Randy is kind of a freak of nature. He only started fighting in his late 30s. And he's become a champion in his 40s, and he's still top-notch. He's currently ranked as the second-best heavyweight in the world. Really? Yeah. But the thing about it is, you know, he's a small heavyweight. You know, he fought at 205 for quite a long time. So he probably walks around at like 220, you know, 225, something like that. And Brock Lesnar has to cut weight to get to the 265 limit. He's huge. He's huge, Mike. Of the heavyweights. And he's a giant man. He's huge. He is a giant man. Oh, my. And so, you know, Randy Couture beat Tim Sylvia. And Tim Sylvia is a 6'10". 260-pound guy. He beat him handily. But Tim Sylvia is a mongoloid. Well, a mongoloid? Yes. A slow, like, slow-moving. Inventor of Mongolian beef. Oh, my gosh. That's Brock right there. Dude. Seth just sent me a picture of Brock Lesnar. Sky, come look at this. Brock is ripped. He's unripped. You know, he's a former WWE wrestler. That's a human being? Yeah. Exactly.
It looks like he should have a yoke around his neck, and he should be, like, making soil soft. No. Yeah, so I don't know how physically Randy Couture is going to match up with Brock. Like, I don't know if it's possible. That's scary looking. Brock is big. Because with Tim Sylvia, it was like, okay, you can bank on him to get gassed and he'll slow down. And Randy is, like, insanely in shape with his cardio. He can be quick and, like, keep the energy up and beat him that way. But it's like with Brock, like, where is the strength? Yeah, Randy will not be able to take Brock down. Like, over, you know. That's his main thing is ground and pound. And Brock's not going to get gassed. Like, he's. Do you think that Brock Lesnar's going to. Beat up on Randy Couture. I think he may tear him in half. Literally in half. Seriously, I'm scared. And eat his insides. Oh, wow. Bathe in him. Some text messages we're getting. Mikey, can you give us some ideas for a perfect first year anniversary gift for my husband? What can I have delivered to his work? Thanks, that's P1 Chili. Barbershop Quartet.
I think it's great. No, dude. What is that thing? Barbershop Quartet delivered to his work. It's like the walk of adoration. The walk of adoration. No, it's not called that. No, it's more of a... It's like a Kleenex box of emotions. I don't think that's what it's called. I think it's a shoebox of feelings. No. It's called a memory jar. Oh. Oh. And it's an idea. I don't think so. It's an idea that I had. I think that's the name. It's just putting a bunch of memories in a jar and giving them to your loved one. Simple concept. Yeah, but that's more of giving a guy, giving to a girl. She's asking what she should give to a guy here is what she's doing. Leave him alone. It's like a cup of love. It's the best gift ever. A cup of love. It's like a cup of noodles, but you don't need to add water. That's right. What's a good first year anniversary gift for a hub? I'll tell you what I did. Flat screen TV. I just had my... First year anniversary. What did you do? Traditionally, first year anniversary is paper. And so what I did is, because we got married on 7-7-0-7, I bought her seven different greeting cards with seven different gift certificates in there. That's cool. And so she freaked out. That's awesome. Yeah, it worked out pretty good. You're a creative man. That's really cool. What would you like to get, Eddie?
As a gift, as a man, what would you like to get? Because she's talking about having something delivered. See, I think this is a mistake, ladies. A lot of times, see, well, a lot of times ladies will, they want to do for their fellow what they like. Yep. They don't really get. like men and women are so different that we don't really like the same type of stuff. I don't think men want anything delivered to work. You don't want a bouquet of roses? No, it doesn't matter what you deliver. It's emasculating. You don't want to drop off your pint of girly feelings. No. A pint of girly feelings? Rob, it's called a memory jar. Please stop. It's a fifth of feelings. Please stop taking these low shots at Mike. He doesn't deserve it. I get what you're doing. You get what you're doing. That wasn't the name, whatever you said. Listen, I think you should not deliver anything to his work. Definitely not. Do not deliver anything to his work. But in terms of like a gift. They like sexy time. They love that. They love sexy time. How about... Listen, your husband is not going to be mad at it if you get a nice lingerie with skimpy panties.
He's not going to be mad at it. He will not. He won't. No, I agree. He's your hub. If he is, that'd be weird. Yeah, that would be a sign. He likes the happy times. Yeah. So sexy's good. What else? Depends if he likes golf. Get him a round of golf. Yeah. Leave him alone for the day. It's the best. Charger tickets if he's a Charger fan. Oh, yeah. Dudes like that. Or, you know, the pickle jar of emotion. Can he at least change the second part of it, you know? Like it's been of emotion like three times already, you know? It's like if he's going to come at you, he should really have some good ones. The pickle jar of wonder. Of wonder?
Is Eddie passing you notes? Is that it? He won't even read it the way it's written. He can't even do it himself. If I write him good lines and he changes it to emotion again. It's got to be emotion. No, it's emotion. But then it's not. You have to see Rob, too, because he looks at me with such, like, as he's cracking on me, he's got such compassion in his eyes. Ah, compassion. You know what I mean? Ah, that's a good one. It is. I like that one. Yeah, yeah. Pickle jaw of compassion. Creative and unique. Mikey Show, hello. Hello. Hi. Hi. This is P1 Jennifer. I was wondering if you guys had a traffic update. I'm on the 94 West and it's sitting still. We just did traffic, but I wasn't listening. I don't listen because it doesn't involve me. Well, we'll probably do traffic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe in like another five minutes. Yeah, we'll do another traffic in a few minutes. What do you think? What's going on? How long will it be? Before another traffic break? Yeah, yeah. A while. Hey, I got an idea. I am our traffic guy and asked him. Yeah, what did he say? He's writing back. He's writing back right now. Don't leave. We're going to tell you what's up with the 94.
I think it's something big because he's still typing. Uh-oh. Oh, boy. Uh-oh. Look out. Yeah. What do you guys think of that feature on the IM where you see someone typing? I love it. You like it? I love it. That's why I know, okay, they actually got my IM and they're responding. They're working on it. Oh, yeah. They're working on it. You know, you can turn that feature off. You can? So that people can't see that you're writing back. That's crazy. You know, that way. They can have an out. Oh, I didn't see it. Go ahead, Ash. Did he write anything back? He's still typing. He's still typing. Oh, my word. Here we go. Here we go. Break it off. Yep, dot, dot, motorcycle accident, dot, at the 15 connector, dot, dot, dot, dot, backed up big time out of Lemon Grove. There it is, ma'am. Okay, thank you. You got it. Dot, dot. It is so hard for me because every once in a while, I'll go do something in the afternoon. I'll be listening to the traffic reports. And it's so hard for me to understand the traffic reports because they go by so fast. Oh, yeah. Yeah, there's something going on. It was fluid on the 95 and over there. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm trying to process it. And my mind doesn't work that fast. The reason I can't watch that amazing race goes too fast. I need a nice slow-paced show like Three's Company.
Perfect. I know there's some sort of misunderstanding. There's always a misunderstanding on Three's Company, and I get it. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. Did you know that if you slowed down just a little, you'd get better mileage? It's true. You know, slow and steady wins the race. And that also applies to city driving. When you're stopped at a traffic light and it turns green, avoid the jackrabbit start. Don't punch the gas. It's not a race.
Just accelerate smoothly and gradually. And let's face it, you'll catch up to those other cars at the next light anyway. So remember, a heavy foot equals a light gas tank. And so he will give us a kind of audio sampling and narrative of something that he watches that we've never heard of in an attempt to introduce us to something new. Guy has 27 DVRs at home. That's right. And he watches it all. And so, Sean, what are you going to introduce us to this week? Well, Mike, you know, from time to time. Oh, no. I don't like how this is starting already. I love it already. I don't like it. I don't even start. Yeah, I know where you're going already. I don't like it. May I? You are more transparent than Casper. Thank you. Thank you. May I? Go ahead. Mike, from time to time. Shame on you. Come on, Sean. You can do this. What do you got? I'm waiting for everyone to finish. I said my piece. Mike, sometimes I like to kick in a little old school. I knew it. Mike, this is the worst when he does this. It can't be what... Come on. Let's give him a chance. Let's roll back the clock right now. Mike.
To September 23rd, 1986. That's Banachek. No. Take a trip to... Banachek was in the 70s. Okay, sorry about that. Take a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, Mike. As we enter into the game of high-stakes courtroom drama. And season one of one of my favorite shows of all time. Say it. What is this? Matt, are you excited? Oh, I love Matt. You really are a 70-year-old woman inside. Matlock's a good time. I've never seen an episode of Matlock in my life. You're under 80. Of course you haven't. Sky was just reeling like, I can't believe you've never seen Matlock. That's very un-American. That's very un-American. Eddie's never seen it. I've never seen it. Rob, you've seen it? Ashley's seen it? Zeth, you've seen it? Negative. What the? Then this is my opportunity to turn you all into believers. Good fact. Sean and Sky.
Watch Matlock. My parents are like, God, you guys are old nerdies. It's not. It's actually, you know, it has this misconception that it's like a really old show or it's a show for old people. But it is. Yeah, that's who watches it, though. That and Murder, She Rose. Like, if you like CSI, if you like CSI, you're going to like Matlock. You're going to like it a lot. That's on fire. Because it's all, they're all classified under the sort of. Did she just say... Excuse me. Did she just say... Sean is speaking. If you like CSI, you'll like Matlock? Forgive her. That's the osteoporosis. That doesn't even make sense. Go ahead, Sean. Go ahead. Let's... Benjamin Matlock is a defense attorney practicing in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in murder defense. Andy Griffith. It's not Andy Griffith. It's Dick Van Dyke. It's not Dick Van Dyke. It's Mario Van Peoples. It's a still getty. Still too soon.
So he specializes in murder defense, and this particular case is no different, Mike. Let's go ahead and listen to Matlock as he interviews his client. So, Sam Young arranged your bail? That's right. Said you were the best defense attorney in town. That's true. They say I don't work for free? That's true, too. Money's no problem. You don't look like you've missed too many Thanksgivings. What happened up there? Well, I had my session with Dr. Halvin in the morning. Went back to see him last night. He was dead. This attorney says he has witnesses that you had an argument with Dr. Halvin. Dr. Halvin assured me that no one would know I was at the clinic. Then this local TV vulture uses me as the cover story for the evening news. Where were you at the time of the murk? In my suite. That's right. You're not allowed to bring anybody with you. All my shows sound the same. Wow, that's shocking. It's another difficult case for Matlock, Mike. It's a redneck Columbo for crying out loud. Because his client obviously was alone the night of the murder. Alone in his hotel room.
I mean, how is he going to get him out of this jam? Who cares? Well, let's go to the courtroom now, Mike. No. Where Matlock is interrogating the doctor. I can't wait. Who is under suspicion by Matlock. Excuse me. Oh, my gosh. And Matlock has, unknowingly to the doctor, rigged the surveillance equipment so it appears to be off, but really isn't. See, I told you that Barbara Sutcliffe's last therapy session. started 15 minutes late, which meant that her tape would have run till 8.15. This one's for the young people in the audience. Which means if the killer entered the therapy after the hour, 8 o'clock, killed Dr. Howland, that person would have been recorded on videotape. Oh, videotape. Which is why you had to get the tape. Because of that possibility. So. What we're going to see is a tape recorded in Dr. Hall. It's Aunt B's rocker. Last time. Hey, the cameras weren't on last night. Or were they? How do you know? How do you know? Well. Because you didn't see the red record light on the camera? Uh-huh. What you don't know is I had Mr. Fenton disconnected. He's a genius. He is a genius.
Well, it's inadmissible. Oh, so good, Eddie. You don't get it. In that moment, I pictured our audience looking like the highways leading out of Louisiana over the weekend when Hurricane Gustav was coming into town. Yeah, yeah. It was almost like a boredom-induced coma that I felt was going on as people were listening to Matlock. On the radio. On the radio. We were just... 2008. We just... Well, I mean... We're live. I can't imagine, like, the actual audience watching it, you know, ever watching it, like there ever being an audience that actually watched that. Mike, it's Matlock. You can catch it on TNT, WGN, and the Hallmark Channel, or Season 1 on DVD at your local retailers and Amazon.com. That was the worst. Way to go, Sean. That was awesome. Thank you very much. That was awesome. That's Matlock. That was the worst one ever. He needs to run these by us before. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was the worst one we've ever done. That was by far the worst one that we've ever done. Ever. Period. That was quality. Boston Rob's hair is gray now. Yeah. Whatever. Wow. Zeth has headphones in, and I think he's listening to Jeff and Jer. It's more entertaining. That sounds good. It's way more exciting.

You're just crawling here from the 125 all the way out to the 15. A few more breakbacks in the downtown. You're being advised to avoid that whole stretch of freeway if you possibly can. That in turn has affected North 805 trying to get onto that busy 94. That is backed up heavily out of Chula Vista here down before H Street for a tough ride up to the 94. And then once you get past that, slows again from Mesa College Drive heading up over to 52. The westbound 8 this morning hasn't been too bad, but now starting to see some brake lights developing here in the East County. From Greenfield to East Main, and now slowing from Jackson Drive out towards Lake Murray. Westbound 52 starting to see brake lights as well off the 125 up past Mass Boulevard at Asante. And south 15, pretty tough out of Escondido as always. Slow and go from the 78th of your Rancho Parkway. The coaster ride south 5 has a brief delay near Loma Setupay Drive in Solana Beach, but then you're pretty much back on the gas from there. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. that I'd classify it as minor now. It's a minor annoyance. Yeah. K-I-O-C. San Diego's Rock. Michelob Ultra Fruit. Light beers with natural fruit flavor. Hey, check it out. It's the Mikey Show. Yo, you have audio on that? We got it featuring Mikey. I love Maui. Eddie. We don't care. We love it. Boys with men rules. Sky. I'm the most liberal, accepting person. Sean. I'm a pile of a man. He's big. Very well behaved. Just eats his food. I'm just happy to have food. And Ashley. I will use an obscene amount of toilet pooper. The Mikey Show is on. It's kind of like a stink lineup. Sure, yes. You know. Welcome back. It's the Mikey Show. It is 7-14. Tiger Woods announced yesterday that his wife is pregnant with their second child. Bad news for the first place Cubs. Their pitcher, Carlos Zambrano. Hurt his arm yesterday. Did you guys know that the biggest tippers in the country, if I had you guys guess what city, I don't think you guys would ever say this city. Lake Everton. Is it Lake Everton? Come on. What would you guys guess? New York. That's what I would think. Las Vegas. Yeah, dude. Absolutely. Vegas, baby. Or Reno. Yeah.
What about Atlanta, Georgia, Mike? How about Laughlin? No. Eugene, Oregon. Nope. I was close. Super close. Boise, Idaho. Dubuque. Chicago. Chicago. Chicago. Wheeling, West Virginia. Is that really he was out of town? Of course it is. Okay. Just look it up. You look it up. You walk it up. The answer is Philadelphia. No way. Those people are jerks. I'm telling you, it's right here. No way. Did they say why? Is there any explanation? It says Philadelphians are the most generous tippers in the nation according to the news release from the magazine Zagat. Now that's that little thing that tells you where a good restaurant starts. Oh, I thought that was our phone screener. Oh, I thought it was due. Let's see. It says, also deserving of major kudos is the Four Seasons Hotel. Let's see. Top newcomers in the tipping category are a restaurant called Cochon.
Which is what Sean's real name was before he changed it to Sean. His name was Cochon. Cochono. Vietnam Cafe in West Philadelphia. Hot spot. Born and raised. It's on the playground. Yeah, we got it. It says here that according to Zagat... or at least 5,500 local diners who reported on their preferences and habits to Sagat, people in Philly leave an average tip of 19.6%. Oh! Sean! Good thing Sean doesn't live there. Yeah, he'd bring that stat way down. Way down. Way down. So, Sean, you don't do 20% even when it's warranted? Even when they're a great... Yeah, what if you had the perfect meal, perfect service, everything? 15%? No, it's too high. No matter what. Okay, so what do you think is appropriate? What would be appropriate? I would say the top is 15%. Wow, you are awful. Man, that is not very much. That is not. He is awful. Times have changed, man. It's 2007 now. Says who? That's true. There was not an official announcement. 2008, actually. What did I say? 7. What did I say? 7.
Isn't it 2007? No. On January 1st, the calendar flipped. Oh, it did? Oh, my goodness. It's a new thing they started. It's not a big deal. I was planning for 08. It's like a lunar year. You had all your 08 decorations. Yeah, I was like ready to break them out of the Tupperware. That's fine. So anyway, it got me to thinking about it, the whole tipping thing and how people tip and what people's thoughts are on tipping. You know, that's how they make their money and everything. Seriously. Usually the toughest people on servers are other servers and former servers. That is a true statement. I think opposite. This guy. Every time I've been around somebody that serves, I see them like totally given the third degree to the people. Really? Yeah, because they know what good service is, and so they expect. Oh, I mean, I can recognize good service and bad service, but I feel I always over tip because I know that there was a time when I was living off of tips. I'm not talking about the tip part. No, that's different. Oh, the critical of the service. I'm talking about the service itself, which leads to the tip. Exactly. Well, so you were talking about the tip. It depends. Yes, you're right, and I am wrong, and I am very sorry. No, I'm just saying. I know what you're saying, Mike, because I'm exactly like that. Yeah.
Like, Sky, I hold... Well, you are the most annoying customer I've ever been around. Can I speak? No offense. I mean, can I get a word out edgewise before you attack me? Don't read into it. No offense. I'm really into it, Mike. I mean, this is the last you know. I think that you're trying to analyze this word. Michael, when we're at a restaurant, and this one, we're with this one? Yeah. You know how she, like, overdoes everything? First of all, she calls the server by the name, which is annoying. If they don't have a name tag, she asks them what their name is. She asks for recommendations at, like, Chili's. I like to know what they like. I like to know what they like. Everything is on the side. Tell me, like, exactly the wording for if the person doesn't have a name tag. How do you go about this? I'll just say, what's your name? And what's your name? John. Normally at the end of like the drink order, I'll go, oh, and what's your name? I want to hear how this sounds. John. Thank you, John. Thank you so much. By then, normally he's like on his way out to go get drinks. Got it. So then he'll come back. Because shouldn't he tell you what his name is? Yeah. That way if I mean something, I can go, John. See what I mean? So annoying.
And then if he comes back and normally... Because you would have told your customers that your name was Ashley. Oh, at Joe's Crab Shack, we had to sit down, introduce ourselves, write it on a paper towel, and put it right there. Thank you. Yeah, they encourage you to sit down with your customers to really make it on a personal level. Some people base the tip on how good was the service. I, personally, it doesn't matter. I'm always going to tip good. Yeah, me too. They won't learn their lesson. What are you, Sean? I'm not saying I leave this terrible tip every time like this crazy guy. But if I have extraordinarily bad service, then yeah, I'm going to take a little... When we lived in San Jose, Sky and I had to drive back to a restaurant because Sean refused to give an appropriate tip. He scammed us. We didn't even know. Yeah, he scammed us. Yeah, he did scam us. That sounds really shady. That guy was the worst. He was normal. No, he was not normal. It took 15 minutes to get a glass of water. Is that normal? That's not true. That's not normal. And the silverware that he gave us was...
Oh, I thought it was the glass. It wasn't. It was. Why'd you scam your friends, Sean? I didn't. Yeah, we all left the money for the tip, but Sean decided on his own to keep that money and give an appropriate tip according to him. Not only that, but he could clearly see that that place was just jam-packed to the gills. Oh, really? With service. Well, if there are other people there, I shouldn't expect to get service, I guess, right? You see? You see? I see what he's doing there. That's his logic. So what do you think? 5701053. Ridiculous. Screw loose. He does. P1 Stevie. You're loose. Hi, this is P1 Stevie. This is for Sean. Yeah. Thank you so much for just tipping 15%, or that's only if it's good, because that's what got me evicted from my apartment when I worked in San Diego. Oh, way to go, Sean. Way to go. No matter what. You know what, lady? You chose to be in that business, all right? So take your lumps and move on. I would make 25% of my total sales, and I was living really nice. Get another job.
You're the worst, Sean. He is brutal. He's brutal. That is brutal. He's brutal. I didn't choose for her to be in that business. But you chose to go in and eat at that restaurant. And you chose that job. You chose to give crummy service. And I am limited to match that crummy service. Exactly. Move on, ladies. Move on. Exactly. Sean! So there's always something to do. No, wow. So Sean's the worst. Sean has very strong feelings on tipping people. First of all. It's horrible. It's horrible. He's from the school of you better nail it. You better knock it out of the ballpark. But even if you do, Mike, I'm only going to get 15%. What do you mean only? He feels that's a problem. It's not that much. And then it's so awkward when you go out to eat with a person like Sean and they want a treat. Like you never know what to do. Like you slip some extra money under your plate so you don't insult them, but the server is a mess. Well, let me tell you something.
What level of critical... He is so critical of them. I'm not, actually. When we went to that Mexican restaurant the last time Sean was here, he felt... First of all, he felt that the Mexican waiter was pretending to not speak very good English. Yes, he absolutely was. He felt that it was a way for him... Your wife asked him for diced onion, and he stood there like she asked him to... Manage a nuclear reactor. He didn't understand, Sean. He didn't speak very good English, which was a testament to the authenticity of the restaurant. Who knows what diced onion is in a Mexican restaurant? That's foreign, man. Listen, he didn't understand very well. And Sean. came up with this diabolical plot that this guy had. Oh, come on. That it was all a ruse to be able to take a break with the table. Oh, you're ridiculous. I can't handle him. P1 Thelma? You are, sir. God is the devil. Oh. Wow. Okay, so I'm working in a restaurant downtown, and you know what? I think I give great service. Sometimes we get, like, packed lunch or...
A cruise ship just comes in, and I try to give great service. But if a customer asks for, you know, something special or things on the side or modified off the menu, it's going to take a while. And, Sean, 15% is the most you give? Yeah. Sean? Yes. That's terrible, dude. Why is that terrible? Where did you start? Did you work before? Where did you work before? What does it matter? Mike, isn't 15% below standard now? Of course it is. Of course it is. I believe that it has gone up. Well, I didn't get the notice. Okay, well, we're letting you know now. Use the memo, bro. Yes, consider yourself notified. All right. Now, why is it that on the bottom of the receipt, it gives the whole breakdown of the different percentages? 20% at the top, 15%, 10% at the bottom? No, no. Don't tell me no. I know what I see with my own eyes.
If it's a party of eight or more, we add 18% gratuity. I'm not eight people. I'm one person. You're the Pfizer-based people. Oh, no. Now it's getting ugly in here. It got personal. That was inappropriate. It was inappropriate. You'll never get a decent tip from me, lady. And there it is. Boom goes the dynamite. Wow, it sure did. Yeah. Bloom goes like jackass. P1 Abby Lou. It doesn't even make sense. Sean. P1 Abby Lou. Hello. Hi. Hi. I've been working in the restaurant business for like six years, and some restaurants, you don't claim your tips. They actually take like 8% to 9% of your sales, your food sales. So if someone doesn't tip you 8%, we're actually paying for their meal. Okay. You're actually paying to serve them. Yeah, actually paying to serve them. I could tell that made an impact on Sean. And it's going to change his philosophy. He's convinced. I think it's going to change his philosophy. It's brutal, Sean. Wait a second. Free meal? Free lunch? What? How does it work? Tell me about this. Shut up. No. Yes. Yes, you will shut up. I would have thought. You will. You will choke.
Wait, that doesn't even make sense. Is this really real? Am I hearing this correctly? Where does this take place? I can somehow get a free meal. Free meal? That's not how it works. How does this magic work? Okay, shut up. Edward. 570-1053. Our text is 35253. Ladies and gentlemen, P1 Quimby is online. Oh, my gosh. Hey. How are you? I'm really good. Right now, I really take umbrage. Umbrage with Sean. I appreciate that. Oh, whatever. It's crazy. Like, when I go to restaurants, I start out at 30%. That is what my server is going to get. 30%? Then you're an idiot. Well, 30% is pretty high. That's stupid. I used to be a server. My boyfriend is a server. And we know how it goes back there. Like, half the time.
It's not the server's fault for the shortness. You know, if the food takes too long or if something funky happens, you know, and they get tapped on that crap. You know, like my boyfriend, if he makes a lot of money in tips, he gets a $30 paycheck. So I feel as though I'm making up for the Sean's of this world. Wow. You're a good person? Well, listen. That's not right. Here's the deal. The cool thing is, is that just based on your phone call, Quimby, it looks like lesson learned. I think Sean has kind of really taken what you've said. I think he's definitely changed his view. Even though he's playing an insensitive sound effect right now of a person crying, I think that what he really means is, well, I'm definitely going to have to tip higher. 30%. He comes home crying to his mom. There it is. P1 Megan is on the line. Hey there. Go ahead, Megan. I was just going to say I'm a psychology student and along the lines of what Ashley was saying about using the name, there have been some studies that have shown if you use the waiter's name or if the waiter uses your first name that you're more likely to give a higher tip. Oh, how about that? So all the person needs to do is identify themselves and call him Sean.
Exactly. What does that have to do with Ashley asking? Well, I'll explain. Okay. What I've found is when I get to know their name, normally they feel like I care a little bit more about them, and then they thus give me better service. Try it. It works. All right. P1 Willie G agrees with Sean. No. Thank you. What's up, guys? Not too much. Go ahead, Willie G. Man, I'm in Sean's boat. If the service is bad, you don't tip them. Thank you. You don't tip them at all? You don't tip them at all? Wow. You're a horrible human. If it's that bad, look, I'm known to tip pretty good if the service is pretty good. Now, how often? It's got to be good. I mean, look, I've had good service and I've had bad service. Okay, now let's say that the service is really good. What's the highest percentage you're going to tip? I'd say 25. is probably the highest. Well, there you go. Sean thinks that's ridiculous. That is high. Sure, it's excessive. But you at least will do it. Sean will never tip that much, period. If he gets bad service, he gets bad service. But even if he gets good service. People choose to be there. They choose to, you know, have a job where you get taxed on your bill already. So let me throw another wrinkle in here. Sean?
You order a pizza and the pizza gets there really fast. Do you tip the pizza guy? Oh. For what? For his delivery. For delivering the pizza. For doing his job? He's paid for? Piping hot. Part of his job is working for tips. What? You don't tip the pizza hot? Part of his job is working for tips. Sean. Something I've suspected for a long time. Pizza boys get an hourly wage. Sean. They're not like servers. No tippy for El Pizzi. They can't think it like minimum wage. Sean says no tippy on Pizzi. Yeah, minimum wage is enough to survive here in California.
I didn't force him to be a pizza delivery guy. There it is. I'm telling you, this is the philosophy of many people. It's not my responsibility to take care of everyone who doesn't have a job that makes enough money. 570-1053. Then get your dumb ass to the pizza place and get your own pizza. P1 Tony. Yeah. Go ahead. Well. We had a horrible waitress. She forgot our order. She came back after 25 minutes saying that she forgot it. And then when she served us, gave us lousy food. So we thought the best thing to do was to give her a penny tip. And when we were at the valet getting our car, she came out of the restaurant and she threw the penny at us. Shut up! Wow. You should have complained. You should have complained. Yeah, the tip. Then we had the car. What am I going to do? Hold up the valet? Man, the penny is almost like going that extra step. It's going that extra step. You're definitely making a statement. Yes. Wow. Hey, listen, a lot of people feel like Sean. If that's the person's job, that's the person's job. I mean, tip is something that people sort of decide that they're going to do.
It's something that they decide that they're going to do. It's not necessarily something that is written into the rule books. Text us at 35253. Our phone number is 5701053. What is this, Ash? We've got a major situation here in the South 805 in Chula Vista. Unfortunately, it turned into a fatality accident blocking all lanes South 805 past Main Street in Chula Vista. Traffic is backed up at a crawl. I mean, it actually stopped here before Orange Avenue wound down. And for good reason, you're being advised to avoid that stretch as a traffic alert has been issued. The 805 northbound has been a struggle here as well this morning. That is backed up from well before 8th Street in Chula Vista. for a solid slow ride all the way up to the 94, past the 94 actually, again into North Park. And now you've got the busy ride from Mesa College Drive up to Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. West 94 is affected by that. That's heavy from Lemongrove Avenue pretty much to the 805 now. And then slows again from 32nd Street into downtown. The West 8 this morning now getting into it with brake lights developing out of the Cajon Valley from Greenfield out towards East Main. And then you've got busy traffic again approaching Severn Drive.
That continues heavy over the Ghostwatch Summit through La Mesa all the way out towards Lake Murray. Bunching up again from the 15 out to the 805 freeway here in Mission Valley. West 52 pretty stacked up out of Santee now from the 125 and past Mass Boulevard. And the South 15 coming out of Escondido a slow crawl as well from the 78 to Villarancho Parkway. Heavy again from Carmel Mountain Road and down into Poway. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. It's another Mikey moment. Sean used to dress as a panda bear and go to what they call furry conventions. Well, they're anthropomorphic conventions. What the heck did you say? Don't let them talk like that. It's where people put on costumes. They go and they, you know, make passionate love to one another. No, they don't. Anaphylactic. Shock. What? What is it called? They listen to rave music, they have pacifiers, and they use glow sticks. Not true. Oh, my God. Eddie. Mike, you might want to write.
I probably should. I would write it down, too. The Mikey Show continues. Rock 105.3. It's the Mikey Show at 740. We've all been to a restaurant where the service is terrible and the food's terrible and everything about it is terrible. We've all done that. So what do you do? Do you tip them in spite of that? Or do you go, well, no, I'm not going to do that. It was terrible service. 570-1053. Text number is 35253. Sean says, yeah, no way. No way they're getting a tip from me.
Sky and I are definitely of the mindset of, no, you've got to tip them. You've got to give the tip. It's more about the right thing to do. Eddie, where do you stand on that? In the middle. Smaller tip. Yeah, if it's really bad service. If it's just not great service, I'll still leave a good tip. So what's the least amount of money you would leave? What percentage? Or is there an occasion where you think it's appropriate to not leave anything? No, I've never not left a tip at all. Just depends. P1 speed limits. Hey, so here's my question. Why would you ever reward bad behavior? Thank you. It's an interesting concept. Is that really behavior? Well, yeah, because if you have bad service and everything, because when you tip, first of all, you're giving it to the entire staff. And then second of all, think of it this way. If you have a kid, okay, let's think of it like an allowance. So if your kid's not doing a good job, if like he's not... taking out the trash and everything, not doing a good job, you're not going to pay him as much. Well, then why would two wrongs make a right? Well, and I think... It's wrong to not leave someone a tip.
Well, and this is just my opinion. I've never been to a restaurant where I feel like a server is intentionally trying to be a jerk and intentionally trying to jack me over. Like, I think things happen. Like, the kitchen loses the order. Sometimes people are forgetful. Like, I never think it's intentional. And if something's intentional, then that's where I think rewarding bad behavior argument comes into play. But I think lots of this is just circumstance and accidents. Yeah, it's stuff beyond their control. The service being a, you just have a bad attitude and, you know, you see them like, you know, over there like hanging out and not, you know, being attentive and it kind of sucks. But, you know, if it's a kitchen problem or whatever, that's not the service fault. Right. But Sean will, you know, punish them for that. That's not right, this guy. P1 Craig. Yes. What do you think? Dude, I'm the kind of guy that, I almost never carry cash at all. I use my credit cards or my, my. debit card for everything and if the service is below standard uh in that you know nobody comes and fills up my my drink or you know i have to keep looking for somebody to get something that that that we need um what i'll do is i'll when the when the check comes you know i'll fill in the amount and then for the tip i'll put it i mean i'll put a huge
Zero right there, so everybody can see that I left no tip. If I do leave a cash tip, I always write in there. I never put a zero because that counts against them, but I'll always write that I left a cash tip. But, yeah, no, if nobody comes to fill up my drink or asks if there's anything else that we need or, you know, if they kind of just serve us and then disappear. I have no problems putting a gigantic zero where it says tip. Ouch. Ouch. All right, dude. Thank you. Thanks. We appreciate it. Harsh. There it is. It's very harsh. Sky has a list. Oh, hello. Of the worst. Action movie cliches. Yeah, so just so you know, this isn't like specific movies. It's not like, oh, that scene in Die Hard. It's general cliches that you can find in almost any action movie. Give me an example. Let me see. Never trust the man.
So you always see the hero working with the head government guy, and it always turns out that the head government guy is working with the villain. It's like an idea. It's an idea. So like when you kill the bad guy and he always comes back to life. Yes, they say check for a pulse. No one ever checks for a pulse. Everybody just assumes they're dead, and then there they pop back up. He pops back up and tries to shoot you, and then you've got to shoot him again. Yeah, yep. How about the you can fix anything and nothing is broken. Anything can be fixed. And, you know, like the whole MacGyver thing. Kind of. The way they word it is specifically talking about how you can always, you know, hack into like government computers. I hate that. That's my that's my worst one. Yeah. It's like everybody can crack the government. Sean loves that stuff. It could happen. If you have the right software. No. OK. Like when Jeff Goldblum.
Hacked into an alien spaceship's computer. Well, right. That could happen. With a laptop. With a laptop. Gave it a cold. An apple. Yeah, he gave it a virus. He gave it a virus. Alien technology. Yes, alien technology. Apparently was fitted for USB. That's good. That's good to know. Yeah, they could invent a spaceship, but not a firewall. That's right. Yes, that is correct. They had a firewall, but he got around it. He got around it. My bad, my bad. With his Mac software. Yeah, that's amazing how that works. That was a genius. What do you want? Yeah, yeah. For sure. What else? What about the ability to not fall? When you fall out a window and you're hanging on, that ability to hang on. Super strength. Super strength. Or fight back animals in Jurassic Park when they're like, oh, I can hold the door even though two raptors are coming and trying to bust through. Is that on there? Is there anything about strength? And I'm a kid, but oh, I can hold him back. They got raptor strength on there? Well, kind of in the same vein, not exactly talking about raptors, but they do talk about how the hero in a movie will get shot at by like 15 people, 15 guns, but never gets hit. Can avoid all those bullets at the same time. So that's, you know, that's definitely on the list. You know, how about the stormtroopers?
In Star Wars. You're being very specific. But, Mike. You're being very specific. They have the worst aim. Like, I mean, it's terrible. Like, they cannot hit anybody. They do. They can't hit anybody. Don't they have stormtrooper boot camp? Yeah. Like, training? Like, they always miss. They gotta lose those things like a shotgun, and they don't. Yeah. And the heroes. They'll hit them anywhere. Right. And it's always a kill shot. Right. Like, they got armor on. They have armor on. It's true. It doesn't matter where they get hit. It's a kill shot. He's 100% right. Don't stormtroopers ever just get wounded? Don't they just go down and go, ah, my arm. Steve, are you okay? Steve, by the way. Yes, Eddie. Henchmen are lousy shots is on the list. Thank you. And, Eddie, are you saying that there are stormtroopers named Steve? Well, I'm sure there's one of them that's named Steve. That's a common name. P1, what's hampooning is on the line. Good morning, Cubby. How are you? I'm fantastic. How are you? Cubby. One of the biggest cliches I've seen is when the villain catches the hero and then he got them cornered and he's got the gun pointed at him and it never fires. Yes. He explains to him everything he's going to do to him. Right, right. And then puts this like really ridiculous clock.
and gives him time to figure out how to get out of the... They call that one the death trap, where you finally capture the person, but then you wait and wait to actually kill them. You don't kill them right away. You just talk about it. P1 Thomas. Yeah. Go ahead. Good, man. My cliche is where the black guy dies first. Where the black guy dies first. Skye. Skye, check it. Is that on your list where the black guy dies first? Skye is now looking on both pages of the list. Do you know anything about chocolate? She's checking it really, really well. She's double-checking now just to make sure. Did I miss black guy dies first? George Bush doesn't care about black people. Danny Glover lived in... Not on there, sir. Not on there. We're tall. Not on that. What about in the martial arts movies where someone will get kicked and they die? You know what I mean? Yeah, one kick, one punch, and they're dead. No, that's not on that. Maybe that's a special martial arts list. What about timers that seem to go on forever? The ticking time bomb, Mike.
Until they're ready to save the day, then it goes down to the very last second. One second, you clip it. In general, a 20-minute time bomb lasts seven days. In general. That is on the list. Or like in Die Hard, it's always one guy versus the entire German population. It's always the one guy versus everybody. 570-1053, Mikey Show. Hey, what's up? I just wanted to tell Eddie, it may be too late, but he's way off base with his Stormtrooper Steve thing. They're all clones, man. They're clones. It would be 700 Steves, right? I understand they're all clones. What? But I believe that eventually they evolve with their own personalities and have conversations. Look at Star Wars A New Hope and those two guys that are talking right by... He's thought this before. This isn't a new thought to him. This is not a new concept. This is something that he's spent time with. He's come to this conclusion. May he please. Through thought. All right. Through thoughtfulness. He has thought this process through. Maybe. He's way off base. There's no one he's talking about. I don't know what I'm talking about. This is getting ugly. This is getting ugly. Are you kidding me? I don't know what I'm talking about. Talking to the foremost authority. Hey, smart guy. Have you ever seen an injured stormtrooper?
I let him go. You jerk. Eddie. Oh, he was a jerk. He might have been. He might have been. I think about this all the time. Okay, well, that's kind of nerdy, but okay. When Obi-Wan Kenobi was trying to break down the tractor beam, you remember this? And those stormtroopers were chatting it up, and they were like, oh, what's going on? Yeah, what's up, buddy? Yeah, great. Hey, what was that? Oh, there was some noise over there. Let's go check it out, Steve. Do we have more Matlock clips? Steve, again. Why always Steve? P1300. I was way off. Go ahead. Sean. What's up, dude? What about how like? All the heroes in the movies can, like, get beat down to the point of death, and then they're fine, like, two minutes later. They're up and moving around. Kill Bill. Kill Bill. Well, they kind of refer to that when they're talking about the cliche of the action hero being really old. He's in his 50s or 60s, but can kick everybody's ass and never gets really injured and never breaks a bone. Right. Like, on 24, like, Jack Bauer in, like, one hour.
dead. Like, he dies. Yeah. Like, they give him an injection that stops his heart. Yeah, and they bring him back to life, and then, like, ten minutes later, he's, like, running around. He's sprinting. Dude, you should be in the hospital. Like, what's the matter with you? Hey, P1 Spaceboy's got a pretty good one. Spaceboy, are you there? Spaceboy. Yeah, go ahead. Morning. How about whenever a hero is double-fisting two guns, and he's shooting everybody up, and he never has to reload? I've never seen a dude reload in an action movie. There's no need. It's an endless, it's an endless magazine of bullets that just never runs out. Yeah, not on the list, but should be. 570-1053. P1 Mike. And the bad guy, only one of the bad guys comes and fights the hero. And the, you know, as opposed to all the bad guys mobbing the hero at once. Yeah, we kind of touched on that earlier. The one-on-one approach when there's 50 guys. What about, okay. The blasters in Star Wars. No, Eddie. Is there a charger for those things? How do they...
Like, where does that ammunition come from? Obviously, there are lasers. I mean, is there, like, some sort of laser cartridge they put in there? Or a charger? Well, you've got to figure that on the Death Star, the Death Star was probably equipped because they were in the building process. Well, you plug it into the cigarette lighter of the Death Star. There is no cigarette lighter, first of all. And then you charge it up. But think about it. You never see them, like, pull them out of a charger or anything like that? Or put in some sort of cartridge? Fine. I think he's raising valid points. They never run out of blasts. P1 Tough. Think about it. Tough, you there? What's going on? Yeah, what's going on, guys? What do you think? My biggest hatred towards movies is when little white girls and kids can knock out giant grown men. That is an interesting point. Is that on there, Skye? No. Kids being able to beat up grown adults. There's three things left on the list that haven't been mentioned yet. I don't know. Give me one of them. The third person shooter. So the hero has like a gun to his head. He's about to die. You hear a gunshot and then all of a sudden you see the villain fall because there was a third person shooter. That you never saw. That you never knew. That you never knew was there. Mike. Yes.
In Star Wars. Stop it. I am interested. How does Chewbacca go number two? Great question. I'm sure there's a river or something. No, no, no. That's not what I'm saying. His fur is never matted and gross. There's no dingleberries. There's a river or something. Just a little shampoo. What's up? Tatooine? Like, there are no rivers on Tatooine. Tatooine is a desert planet. Oh. There's no water there. Well, then he travels to some Namibia. Think about it. P1 Stickius Maximus is on the line right now, and Stickius Maximus, what do you think? I have a problem with these drivers, or these guys in the action movies, they're drivers. They can drive anything and get away from anybody. They can drive anything. Sky, is it on there? No. But it's a good point. Mike. Eddie, go ahead. In Star Wars. Yes. Stop it. Does Princess Leia have a hairstylist? That's a good point. And when does she have time? Every scene she has a different hairdo. Yeah. Where does she find the time while saving the planets and the galaxy to do all these fancy hairdos? Who cares? Right? I got one for you. It's a good point. It better not be about Star Wars, Mike.
Does Jabba the Hutt shower or bathe? No. Does she shower or bathe? Well, he has personal assistants. Okay. And I believe that occasionally they'll sponge him down. Okay. But, I mean, he can't really move around anymore. And what was the amount of the bounty that was put on Han Solo? So, in other words, when Boba Fett was trying to find Han, What exactly was the bounty amount? There is a number. I don't recall it off the top of my head. I will look it up on Wikipedia. Okay. So you're saying that there was an actual amount. That better not be real. Let me tell you something. If it's not, Eddie's buying the rights today. It is a website, guys. I want it all the time. I just want to know. I'll find out. What was the amount of the bounty put on Han Solo? But why do you care, Mike? Well, because, I mean, it's kind of important, you know. To what? It's kind of important. To what? How does it affect your life? Another deal. If the Millennium Falcon was as old as it was, and it clearly was not getting into light speed, isn't that particular cruiser out of commission? In other words, where are they going to find parts for the Millennium Falcon?
It's such an old cruiser that you wouldn't think they would be able to find. And by the way, Sean is looking meticulously on the Internet right now trying to find the amount of the money. Who cares? I am on Wikipedia. Yeah, I am too. Okay. P1 Lazardi. What's up, Mikey? Not too much, dude. Here's the best cliche ever. Go ahead. Every movie, every time. Mm-hmm. The girl that the hero is saving can't stand him, and by the end of the movie, they love each other. Very true. Extremely true. Yeah, they don't specifically address it like that, but they do talk about the female lead in the movie and how, you know, at the last second before the hero is going to kill the villain, he finds out that his love interest has been taken hostage. There it is. Skye, what about the hero cliché or the action movie cliché? that I'm done with this in my life, but one last time. Or I just happen to be in the wrong place, even though I've moved past all that. Not on there? No, there's only one left. You see that a lot. Oh, yeah. You really do see that a lot. Let's see. P1 Instigator. How about that they never eat?
Sky, is that on there? Action heroes do not drink or do not hydrate or eat. Or go to the bathroom. Or go to the bathroom. No, not on the list. Jack Bauer has never gone to the bathroom. Not one time. Every day. In 48 hours. P1 Murray. How's it going? Pretty good, dude. Clone troopers in Star Wars. The prequels. They all had individual names. They were different commanders. Eddie was right. The new animated movie that just came out, they had a bunch of them had different hairdos. That's right. They all looked different to their own personalities. Thank you. That's right. Eddie was correct. That's great. Sean is still scouring the internet. He's driving me nuts. I am on StarWars.com. Yeah, that's where I went too. He wants to know what was the bounty amount to be paid to Boba Fett or any bounty hunter for that matter.
For the capture and live return of Han Solo. Like 10,000 credits. I have to pee. They're saying that it was a super large amount. It was definitely more than that. 10,000 credits. Sky, what was the one that we're missing? The final one is the fruit cart. The fruit cart. Yeah. Every car chase, they have to hit a fruit cart. They go on the sidewalk and end up hitting a fruit cart. That's ridiculous. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. When we get back, we've got to find somebody that's willing to go up against Ashley. Come on, ladies. Did you know that a just completed survey of AIS clients shows an average savings of $850 per year? Now, of course, prices vary depending on your needs, so it really pays to shop around, which is what AIS does for you. In fact, 92% of AIS clients renew year after year, which goes to show just how much money they're saving.

To improve mileage, come by Chevron and fill up with air. That's right, air. When was the last time you checked the air pressure in your tires? Can't remember? Then it's definitely been too long. Did you know even tires in good shape can lose about one pound of pressure a month? And underinflated tires make your engine work harder, lowering your mileage. But don't overinflate them. You can usually find the recommended tire pressure on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. And speaking of air, air conditioning is not so hot for your car's mileage either. Whenever you turn it on, it puts an added strain on your engine. Now, at highway speeds, it's probably better to use the A.C. rather than roll down the windows because of the aerodynamics. But around town, enjoy the fresh air. And that's another great way to get the most out of your Chevron with Tecron. Learn more mileage. Now, you've been hearing me tell you all about. The Saints are allowed to return to New Orleans and plan on opening their season at the Superdome on Sunday. When we came on right there, we were kind of laughing. We would have gotten in trouble with Gary Schoenwetter. Oh, that is true. Hey, guys. Oh, boy. Listening to the show. Great show. Thank you. Great show. You guys are very talented. Thanks, Gary. Just a thought. Oh, okay. Just a thought. What do you got? Sometimes you guys come out of a record or stop set and you guys will be laughing about something. The audience doesn't know what it is. I would shy away from that.
Oh, Shiley. Yeah, we're just having fun. Yeah, we're like friends having fun. No, no, no. I get it. I get it. I don't know the audience. That's the atmosphere of the show. No, I get it. I get it. I don't think the audience does. So are you calling the audience stupid, Gary? Obviously not. That's not it. It's a deal where you've got to try to think like an audience member. But I think they get that. We're friends and we mess around and stuff. It's just silly. You know what, guys? I'm going to have to take the last word on this one. Don't do that. I have a question. Go ahead. Is that the guy that sat you guys down and said this is going to be a bad day for you? This guy was the opposite. He loved us. Gary did like us a lot. He did. He just was a challenge for me. You guys were different. We were different. We get along. I think, I honestly think this. I think that we could work for show and weather today. It'd be a totally different story. Yeah. Because it was his first gig. Yeah. And it was a tough time because there had been a morning show on that station forever. And then in the middle of his first rain, you know, he gets a new show. And so he tried to tinker. Yes. There was a lot of tinkering. Tinkerbell.
But I think it would be a different story now. Yeah, he's cool. Let's see. The subject of this email is Ewoks. No. Another good question. No more. I have a lot of questions about them. Mikey, how do midget bears beat the Imperial Army? That's not a good question because it was shown how they were able to do it. They had a lot of traps and things like that that were set. My question is... They lumbered, though, Eddie. They seemed very lumbering. They weren't very agile on their seat. Speaking of lumber... They were throwing rocks. And the other guys had lasers. They had helmets, too. So I don't really understand how some of those rocks, when you hit a helmet, knocked them out. Take care of your head by wearing your helmet. Neither here nor there. My question is, they're very small, these Ewoks. What was the point of them building such giant forest homes and how physically were they able to build giant forest homes and get the wood and things like that all the way up there? Maybe they had some sort of pulley system. That's how I justified it. You had to make it make sense. I just don't understand why they would need to live in trees. To me, if I were an Ewok, I'd live in a cave.
To avoid predators, obviously. I understand that, but you can also do that in other ways. Plus, Chris Hansen helps with most of that anyway, so what's the point? Yeah, he is good about that. You know what I'm saying? They are sexy. All right, laugh out loud. Tomorrow, Ashley is going to compete. She's a competitor. Let me tell you something. Mommy can eat. She can shove it down. That's right. I ate all weekend long. Yeah, she did. She did eat all weekend long. McDonald's? What's up? Yeah, McDonald's? Tried a Big Mac for the first time. What? Whoa. That's crazy. How did you not put that on your yesterday email for me? Well, I put that I had had McDonald's and yesterday realized. during the show that I forgot to write the most important part. Yeah, but on the list of stuff that you gave me for McDonald's, it was gigantic. I mean, I thought, wow, that was way too much for you to eat. You put so many things. And you're telling me now that in addition to all of those things, you also had a Big Mac? I tried it. My boyfriend had ordered the Big Mac. The Big Mac. And I had a bite because I'm like, I've never tried one of these bad boys. So in other words, you wanted to take a bite of his food.
Yeah, it was delicious. She always does. I mean, I see what the big fuss is about now. It was delicious. I liked it. Yeah, my wife was the same way. She tried it for the first time in her life. Oh, she did? Yeah, recently. What about this one? What about you, Sky? What's up? What do you think? What are your thoughts on the Big Mac? It's pretty good. The Big Mac. Well, it's like a burger. I guess I'll let you know whenever I try one. Mike! You're laughing. I tried a Whopper this year. I think that's enough. Isn't that like the same thing? I think I've given enough. I think I've given enough. I tried a Whopper. I don't know where to go with this. I tried a Whopper. I normally order the Big and Tasty. They don't make it anymore. That's the worst. So I don't go to McDonald's anymore. The Big and Tasty is the Whopper. That's why I tried the Whopper. It's an imitation. And that's why I now eat the Whopper, which isn't as good as the Big and Tasty was, but whatever. Did you used to eat the McDLT? I don't know what that is. That was where the hot side stayed hot and the cold side stayed hot. No, I don't even know. Oh, I remember that. You remember that? They like separated it on the tip. The worst thing to make. Dumbest concept ever. It was. Delicious, though. You had a carton.
It was the lamest thing. And it was separated. And on one part, it was the hot parts, like the bun and the meat and the cheese. And the other side, it was the lettuce and the tomato and everything. The produce. The McBLT. Hot side say hot, cold side say cold. Creative. It lasted about a year, maybe. Well, Ashley, because she can eat, has been eating competitively on this show. And the first competition was Marshies. Marshmallows. Not so good at that one. She lost. I hadn't prepared myself. Yeah, she lost. She couldn't put down more marshmallows than our P1 listener. But last time. Redeemed. She redeemed herself. Team redemption. Crackers. She did it with crackers. I watched the video back, Mike. It's impressive. On MikeShow.com. Man, did I kill it. Yeah, yeah, you were good. There's no doubt about it. You're an animal. Why say that about yourself? You knocked it out of the park. Because when it's that good, you know what I mean? It was that good. This week, she will be competing with bananas. I love them. I'm so excited for this, Mike, because this is the first food item that I eat on a daily basis.
I love bananas. Like, I put them in my yogurt, my granola. How do you like your nanners? I love my nanners. I put them in my cereal. I put them in plain yogurt with a little bit of granola. Please, Mike. Please. There's a discrepancy here, Ash. Yes. See this one over here? Yeah. Sky. Sky. Crazy. She likes her nanners wrong. Oh, no. I like my nanners right. No. Sky likes her nanners when they're, like, green still. Yeah. Yes. And Mike likes his all brown and mushy. I like mine ripe. Gross. Sky likes hers off the tree. Crispy. Sky likes hers extra crispy. Which is just foul. Let me tell you. Let me tell you. By the way, my mother-in-law's neighbor has a big palm tree. It's got bananas growing on it. I'm like...
I got it. I'm like, I got to steal some of those. I got to steal some of those. I mean, I don't know if it's bananas or plantains. I don't know what they are. I didn't know they could grow here. I didn't either. I know they do in Hawaii. In Hawaii, we were staying at a house that had them. Yeah. So we picked them off the tree, but they were green and I didn't want to wait. I was like, I got it. I have to try this before we leave. I was trying to let it get right, but it wouldn't. So I ate it green. Oh, so good. When it's green, it's got such a, the flavor of it. It's not ready yet. It's saying, I'm not ready for you. It's not ready yet. I'm not spoiled yet. Oh, Sky. I'm telling you, if a banana's yellow, it's too ripe for Sky. Yeah, one little brown spot, I am out. She likes it. I kind of support Sky on that. Come on. I mean, I feel like Sky's the mama bear and Mike's the papa bear. I'm the little kid bear. I like my banana right in the middle. I don't want it to have brown spots all over it, but I also don't want it to be green. You're actually Goldilocks. You eat everything. That is true. So you want it yellow, no brown. Correct. I just want it yellow. That is a very... I just want it ready. It's a safe answer. A little too crispy for me, but what are you going to do? You like it bushy. Yeah. I'm surprised. You know what I love? I love a banana with a lot of give. That's what I want.
Now, Sean eats baby food. He does. So how can he like his bananas? Crispy. Crispy. Like, wouldn't you want it mushy? No, no, Eddie. No, no. Well, I'm just asking him. Okay. I don't know. I didn't realize this was such a petty subject that you can't be able to talk about or eating. I didn't know that you were going to get upset about me asking about bananas. I'm so sorry. These are men in their 30s. I can't believe that you would be so mad because I ask about simple things like bananas. Excuse me. Eddie, 35 years of age. Sean, 38. That was awesome. I just want everyone listening to know what just took place. A 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old man. He needs to grow up. You need to grow up. Oh, no. Junior. Junior.
Okay. Yeah, you're the one eating baby food, bro. That is true. This text message says the partial vegetarian on the show says that a Big Mac is really good. Oh, no. Yeah, but I only had one bite, you have to remember. That's true. So partial. That's right. Yeah, but you were killing chicken McNuggets right along with it, okay? Yeah, but I only had four. Okay. Well, then I stand corrected. That's why it's a partial vegetarian. If she were completely vegetarian. Was that out of a six piece? No, it was out of two, four pieces. Yeah. Just remember though, Ash, a partial vegetarian, a partial vegetarian is half meat killer. Just so you know it, a partial vegetarian. is half a meat killer. But see, I'm a vegetarian in my own weird way. Honestly, I can't eat meat from the bone because it grosses me out. I'm a vegetarian in my own weird way, meaning I occasionally like meat. I eat meat whenever I want. Sometimes it makes me sick. Some meat makes me gross. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. My imitation of me at Donovan's.
No. No. I can only eat steak occasionally. By occasionally, she means during barbecues. Yeah. Very rare. Only at dinner time. Yes. Can't do it at night. Can't do it in my sleep. Can't nap with a steak. Never in the bathroom, and I won't shower with a filet mignon. P1 Megan. You got your work cut out for you, kid. Oh, boy. Megan wants to take Ashley on. Nice. Really? Now, Megan, do you like bananas? My favorite fruit, but, you know, I'll deal. Favorite fruit's Richard Simmons. There it is. So, Megan, we're going to make this difficult for you guys. What we're going to do is we're going to bring in two bunches of bananas, okay? And we're not going to peel them. You're going to have to peel. You're going to have to shuck and duck is what you've got to do, okay? You're going to have to shuck and ruck is what you're going to be doing on this sucker. All right? You've got to peel and deal is what I'm saying, all right? You've got to pull and chul is what I'm trying to tell you, okay? I don't know about that. You've got to take and bake is what I'm trying to say. Okay, I've heard that. That's what I'm trying to tell you. Not making any sense. Not really.
Mikey, according to Alton Brown, greener bananas are starchier and heartier to digest than ripe, sugarier yellow bananas. That's P1 Instigator. Whatever. They still don't taste as good. Yummy is softer bananas. Well, yeah. According to that, it's... Sky question. Sky question. What about... It's easier to digest. Sky question. Sky question. Hey, Eddie, take it down a notch. Mike is talking, bro. Mike is talking, bro. That's that point that Instigator was making. He's actually backing your point up. Mike is speaking, bro. He's saying that the greener ones are harder to digest and worse for you. Yeah. Hey. Really? Go ahead, Scott. You're a jerk. You're a jerk. You're a jerk. You're a jerk. What? You glossed over it when you thought it was reversed. You know me. I'm stupid. I don't ever believe I've become gassy from eating a banana, so I'm fine. Thank you. Oh, man. Sky, what about banana bread? Most of the time has nuts in it, so I will not enjoy it. What if there's no nuts? Then I will, well. What if it's eunuch banana bread?
Will you eat that? Would you eat your dog? Would you eat your cat? Coleslaw is murder. Now you're just crambling stuff. Oh, that was right. Eddie. I feel like I should tell you what the prize is going to be for the winner. Go ahead, Eddie. Oh, yes. Megan, you still there? I am. Okay, good. Oh, Megan, it's no big deal. Just Metallica tickets. Oh, my God. Are you kidding me? You kidding me? Just so you know, Megan, if you don't win. Wow. Ashley gets to give them to a friend of hers. Are you kidding me? Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you don't win, they're Ashley's tickets. You understand? What happened? All P1s? Why didn't you call in? It was just for Metallica tickets. Megan, I'm going to put you on hold. We're going to give you directions. We'll see you tomorrow. Hang on, okay? Oh, wait, wait, wait. Hey, Megan, are you there? Yeah. You coming to the Hall of Fame induction on Friday? You have to. invited. Can I come? Every person listening right now can come to the Hall of Fame broadcast on Friday. Every single person listening right now is allowed to come and will be welcomed into the Hall of Fame broadcast. We're laying out. We're laying out.
Poolside. We're broadcasting poolside, are we not? I thought we were laying out. Not during the broadcast. My bikini, in between breaks, lawn chair. I thought the whole idea was that we were doing the induction laying out. So Ashley's going to be up there inducting somebody in her bikini? Me too. Oh, that is awful. I get a one-piece. I mean, I'm going to have a little, like, sarong, but we're late poolside. Yeah, hello. Hello. Hello. You're going to show up to the broadcast and you're bathing? Megan. I'm going to have a sarong. I would like to invite you to the P1 Hall of Fame broadcast. Invite your friends. I will be there. Tell everyone. I accept. Hang on. That's Megan. Good times. Skye, banana bread, no nuts? Mike. Why would you even act like this? She's not going to say she doesn't like it, but she knows that that's a trap. No, no, no. Because then I'm going to say, but you know that that's made with, you know. Hey, hey, let's all calm down. Why are you acting like this? I am a fan of sweets. I will not lie. But banana bread is not my favorite because it does have that, like, overripe banana taste to it. What about banana Laffy Taffy?
It's delicious. I support that. It's my favorite flavor. Yeah, banana's good. And the Laffy Taffy. What does that have to do with what you're saying? What about banana Laffy Taffy? I mean, are we not talking about banana bread? Are we not talking about bananas? Laffy Taffy? Like, why? It's my favorite flavor. What about banana runs? That's my favorite flavor, too. I agree. What about banana nerds? I love it. They are good. Eddie cannot eat bananas. I know. This is going to be weird. But he can eat artificial banana flavoring. And likes it. He likes the taste of banana. He can't eat banana. If he does. And I love all those kinds of breads like zucchini bread and carrot bread and all that stuff. Did my wife make you zucchini bread this year? For Christmas she did. Okay. But that was the last time I got it. No, no, no. I thought it was two occasions. No. I thought it was Christmas and your birthday. I didn't get it from my birthday. Oh, man. That's pretty sad. Either way. But yeah, I would love to eat banana bread, but then I'd die. This is not worth it. Interesting fact. Is it possible that you've outgrown this? I don't know. If I tried it, I would, and my throat closed, it would not be fun. Maybe we could have it. It's okay. What if we had, all right, that's ridiculous. That's an obvious shot at me for no reason. Came out of nowhere.
One of these days, maybe we get an EpiPen and we just see what happens. I don't think I'm allergic to anything. Well, you're not food, but meds, right? You're allergic to... Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. One of these days, we should have me hooked up to morphine and I'll carry an EpiPen. That was awesome. That was so much fun. I thought it would work. No? No. This is me coming out of surgery with morphine. Mikey Show. Yeah, asking about 99 Bananas, the liquor drink. Never heard of it. It's sold in all the liquor stores. Yeah, I think we have that. The boo likes to use it to make the bananas fosters. Hey guys, check this out. Listen to this text message. What do we got? Mikey just drove by your guy's new billboard on the 94. Freaking hilarious. Reaction. Have you seen our new billboard? Awesome. We kept this thing under wraps forever. We had Sean fly in for a photo shoot. You can now see what all of the Mikey show members look like on our new billboard. It's up all over the place.

I just wanted to tell you, you know, I called AIS and talked to a kid named Carlos out of Escondido, and they saved me like $700 a quarter on my auto insurance. $700 a quarter.
Yeah. I don't know what a quarter is. That's every three months or four months? It's every six months. I don't think that's a quarter, but that's neither here nor there. All right. Every six months they save you how much? $600 because I had it suspended on my record when I finally got my license when I was 25 years old. I never drove before. This guy is saving $1,200 a year by switching to AIS. Yeah. That's phenomenal, dude. Yeah, I think I might go get some laser icers right now with that money. You should. You might as well. Hey, listen, in all seriousness, you're writing checks for so much less every month. You can use that money on yourself in a fun way. Yeah, I went out on a whim, and, you know, they were really cool, and they hooked me up with a good auto insurance dealer and really helped me out. That's awesome. Hey, thank you for calling. Tonight on the new Fox 5 San Diego, Bones is back with a two-hour season premiere. It's all-out madness when Bones and Booth head to England for a crime-solving caper. The two-hour season premiere of Bones. Tonight at 8, only on the new Fox 5 San Diego. Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. The commute this morning has just been a mess, and unfortunately it's still very, very tough. The traffic remains in effect from an unfortunate fatality accident this morning. South 805 passed Main Street in Chula Vista. Only the fast lane is open, and traffic is just crawling by barely like maybe two, three miles per hour through the area. You're backed up hardly moving before Orange Avenue, and of course you're being advised to avoid that stretch. Heading north in 805, that's a very tough ride as well. That's got pockets starting at 8th Street and Chula Vista, and that continues off and on all the way up into the Golden Triangle. West 94 on the King Freeway, a new accident near 30th Street's got you all backed up from Euclid Avenue for a solid slow ride in the downtown. Traveling westbound on the 8th, that's faring no better. That's a very tough ride as well out of the East County from Spring Street out to Lake Murray, and then again from College Avenue all the way to Mission Center Road now in Mission Valley.
South on 15, slow and go from the 78th of your Rancho Parkway. There's an accident near Camino Del Norte causing some heavy backup here through Rancho Bernardo all the way into Poway and the westbound 56. Solid brake lights here from Camino Del Sur to the 5. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105 for 8. So Eddie is now on the sleep train. Yes, I am. I got aboard. And it's because you just got a new house. Eddie just bought a new house. And he's putting some beds in, furnishing the place. Yeah, I heard you talking about it for quite a while. And I made the choice to go into Sleep Train. And it was a great choice because, you know, you really, their selection is awesome. You know, you can really, really improve the way you sleep. Did you decide to go with that sleep number or you went with something different? No, I went with the Sealy, which is the number one best-selling mattress in America, which I found out there at Sleep Train. They're very knowledgeable. It has the pillow top on top, but yet it's still pretty firm. Yeah. So you get both.
going there. That's awesome. So it was really cool. I can't wait. It's being delivered tomorrow and get to sleep on it for the first time tomorrow. That's so cool, man. Looking forward to it. I'm telling you, go in there. If you go in there before two o'clock, they'll deliver the same day. Sleep Train is your ticket to a better night's sleep. Say hello to the Mikey Show. Hey, my gosh. Hello. Featuring Mikey. I'm telling you that I believe that I would be the best person to change your diaper. I don't Save that clip. Eddie. I'm very particular. I admit it. That's a flaw in my character. Sky. I'm a wealth of knowledge. Sean. I'm asking myself to speak Greek. Ashley. I wear myself on my sleeve. The Mikey Show's on. Like. 105.3. Hey, if you saw our billboard, our new billboard, with all the show members on it, give us a call at 570-1053 or text us at 35253. Locations are I-805 north of Logan, Miramar Road, facing the east. Got one at I-8, and that one is west of I-5. And then there's another one on the 94, west of college, east facing.
It is 840. Tonight's a big night for the Republican National Convention when controversial VP pick Sarah Palin will speak. Oh, Padres, you're not good. They lost eight in a row on the road, getting smashed by the Dodgers last night, 8-4. That was pretty straightforward. Dude, I was listening to their lineup yesterday. Oh, no. And it's like a double-A team. I bet I wouldn't even recognize it. I wouldn't recognize half of it. You would recognize two players. Adrian Gonzalez. And I don't even know. You would know Kevin Kuzminov, right? Yeah. That's it. I will read to you. What happened to Jeff Spicoli? Khalil Green is injured. Khalil Green. Spicoli. So, oh, you and Brian Giles. Okay. At shortstop, Luis Rodriguez. Never heard of him. In left field.
Chase Hedley. My favorite. I know that there was all kinds of talk about Chase Hedley. I don't know why. I don't know what it was about. At second base, Matt Antonelli. Never heard of him. Lamont Antonelli. They do a morning show. They're playing second base? How is that possible? That's weird. I mean, I don't even know some of these first names. Oh, no. Ambers in center field. Amber? Ambers. Oh. Hundley at the catcher. This is our lineup. Never heard of it. You know why the lineup sounds like that? Because San Diegans voted in a new stadium. The reason that the lineup is so unrecognizable and you don't recognize any names is because we as a community said we will spend millions of dollars to build a ballpark. But my... Yes, Eddie. Yes, Eddie. The promise was... What was that promise? If we, you know, voted for this stadium, that the Padres, John Morse... I will be a representative of John Morse. Go ahead. Go ahead. ...said you would do everything in your power to sign big names and put a winning product out on the field. Question. Oh. Yes.
Where did the Padres finish last year? Out of the playoffs. Excuse me, but where did they finish? Second place in the West. Where did they finish the year before that? They won the West. Where did they finish the year before that? They won the West. Okay. Wow. Now, go ahead. Repeat what you said we would do if you did. You said you would sign big names and put a winning product out on the field. And that. Still stands true today. That is not true. We will do that. When? That is the key point. You see, you don't do this in a day. It's been six years. You do not do this in a day, Eddie. It's been six years. Wow. It could be a hundred years. No, that wasn't the promise. Hang on a second. That wasn't the promise. These things are not to be done in haste. What haste? Let me explain. What are you waiting for? Let me explain. If I may be a representative of Sandy Alderson. If I may be a representative of Sandy Alderson. If he may. If I may. If I may. If I may. Only been to two. What you do is you cultivate young talent. We didn't know what Jake Peavy was going to be when we brought him. But look what he became. Look what he became. Now, what we're doing right now. But you don't score any runs for him because you have nobody else to play. Now.
This is not the fault of Mr. Morris or Sandy Alderson. Yes, it is. It is the fault of the Marine layer. No. The Marine layer. We are victims. You wanted to put the park there. Listen. You wanted to put it there. We could have never anticipated that this Marine layer would have such an effect on our players' performance. However. But you still doesn't mean you're signing anybody good. These things happen, Eddie, in a very controlled way. They must happen in a controlled way. Your big offseason signing was Jim Edmonds, and he only lasted two months, and you cut him. Jim Edmonds was a mistake. Jim Edmonds. Cutting him or signing him? The signing of Jim Edmonds was a mistake, and we will take full responsibility. But you cut him. Excuse me, my mouth is getting dry. But, sir, I mean, I don't know anything about baseball. But if you know the marine layer's a problem, then wouldn't you bring in big hitters? Like, wouldn't that be the solution to said problem? Visiting clubs don't have a problem. What about the people that you did have? Mike Cameron and Milton Bradley? Listen.
Milton Bradley. Milton Bradley, as you know. Milton Bradley. It's a great board game. I agree. Milton Bradley, as you know. I want to talk to this guy. Milton Bradley, our coach, our manager, tackled him and tore up his knee. Why would he do that? I'm going to tell you something. I don't know, Sky. We would much rather have a manager who is so emotionally and personally invested in that team. That he will back his players at any cost. This is something that... He didn't back him. He tossed him to the ground and he tore his ACL. He was trying to control not only a fellow teammate, but somebody that he considers a friend. It probably cost us the playoffs last year. I would take it a step further. I would say it probably did cost us the playoffs, but I'm going to be honest with you. I'm going to be honest with you. Bruce Bochy is a great man, but I hate to put that but in there. Arus Bochy was a great man, but he just couldn't take us to where we know Buddy Black is going to take us. But Bud Black hasn't done anything. That is not true. What has he done? You'd have to work with this. What has he done? You'd have to be at this ball club and be in this clubhouse on a daily basis to see the impact for the future of this franchise that Buddy Black is making on these players. He has like 43 wins.
Yes, he does. That is true. That is true. But, however. Terrible. However. However. We haven't had that in like a month and a half. However, you cannot put a price on potential. And what we have right now. I think you have. What we have right now. is a transitionary period. See, you want to look at the present and say, this is who this ball club is, but it's much more complicated than that. What you need to do is have vision. It's a triple A club. You have to have vision. Maybe double A. But isn't that what the triple A is for, Mr. Representative? For your potential? Like, that's where it should be. That is exactly why I pointed to Jake Peavy as an example. But you brought him up at an appropriate time. Exactly. bringing these players up at the... This isn't an appropriate time. No, it is not. They're not ready. Uh-uh. No. Well, see, now that is exactly my point about Buddy Black. Bud knows how to coach these young men. What? These men, I guarantee you, next season is going to look... I don't want to wait until next season. It'll be a different landscape. Are you going to sign big free agents?
You get so caught up on this big... Let me tell you something. We want to have superstars. Well, maybe they don't have the money. Listen. That part, Rob, makes millions. It's a beautiful ball. You bring up a good point. It's gorgeous. Let me tell you something. You bring up a good point. They do. Let me tell you something. Mr. Morris would love... To be able to reach into his pocket and pull money out that he doesn't have. It's because he's going through a divorce. He doesn't have it. That is not true. It is true. First of all, Mr. Moores wishes that San Diego as a whole... could make the same type of revenue that the New York Yankees or the Boston Red Sox could make. We wish that we had that kind of revenue. So when he blows out his birthday candles, that's what he's wishing for. Absolutely. In fact, I was with him. I was with him at a Mexican restaurant. He threw a penny into a fountain, and I overheard him say that that's what he wished for. Well, but if you say your wish out loud, it won't come true. So he's obviously not trying. Which is exactly why I noticed that he had an eyelash. I brushed it away from his face, and he did not reveal.
He did not reveal to me what was going on in his mind. But I know exactly what it was. See, you get too caught up on this whole idea. See, people think that big names equal big results. And that is not always true. What the San Diego Padres value more than anything is position players and the intelligence of experience. And that's what we have. In managers like Bud Black. We don't have any of that. Right now, what you're seeing. Intelligence of experience. These are kids. No, no, no. I'm talking about the men that are coaching these young men out. These are youngsters. These are youngsters. These are youngsters. Why didn't we get Manny Ramirez? I'll tell you why. That's a good question. I'll tell you. And that is a question that I think is fair. And that needs to be addressed. The reason that we didn't get Manny Ramirez is because the San Diego Padres pride themselves not only on having a management team in place that is committed to winning, but also in having players.
who live up to a certain standard in terms of the people that they are. Jake Peavy is involved in more things in this community. The players that are on the San Diego Padres are so committed. Sir. Are so committed to their community. And Manny Ramirez has proven on many occasions that he cannot be relied upon to be thinking clearly at all times. You mentioned having the big revenue and the large markets and things like that. Yes. But what about the markets? that are our size or smaller, including a small market like Milwaukee, who right now is in the lead for the wild card in the National League. And they're able to sign their players. And a market like St. Louis, who is able to have superstars like Albert Pujols on their team. And that's a fair question. And that's a fair question. Can you answer it, please? And I'll answer it this way. I'll tell you that the San Diego Padres are not going to run their ball club. on someone else's ball club. What? Why not? Your formula doesn't work. Again, you're looking at the right now. You've got to remember that this is a ball club that over the last three seasons has won the National League West two out of the last three seasons. You've never won a one playoff game, not one. I'll say it again.
Is a ball club. How much would the Kansas City Royals love to be able to say that they have won their division the last two of the three seasons? Yet, when we say that, this community still is able to be upset with us. The Kansas City Royals have won a World Series before. That is true. That is true. The Kansas City Royals have won a World Series. And I'm going to tell you something. The day that the San Diego Padres... win a World Series, hopefully you and I will be laughing about this. But I want that to be now. In fact, you and I will probably be standing next to one another at the ticker tape parade. I'm not going to be anywhere near you. I don't want to be anywhere near you. We will be at the ticker tape. This community will be celebrating at ticker tape parade down Broadway, downtown San Diego. Celebrating a World Series win. That is such... That cannot be answered on empirical evidence. I cannot. I cannot. I cannot look you in this. There is not a ball club in Major League Baseball that can tell you an exact date that they are going to. Sir, I can tell you that other ball clubs are at least trying to put a product out on the field to win a World Series. You've gone too far. You've gone too far. How have I gone too far? Wow, this is getting ugly. I stand next to Mr. Moores and Buddy Black on a regular basis, and for you to say that him and Mr. Alderson,
Do not care about this team is too far. Matt Antonelli. That is unfair. Matt Antonelli. Lamont Antonelli. Lamont. Matt Antonelli is a quality prospect. I know it looks like Matt. What about the Tampa Bay Rays who are a small, tiny market who are leading the AL East? What about them? They don't even have fans and they're still winning. I don't understand the question. You made a comment. You made a statement. Where is the question? What is the question? Why can't we win? That's a fair question. That's a fair question. Answer it. That's a fair question. My head is spinning. That is a far out question. The answer to that is we don't know. I mean, that's the end of the year. We don't know. False promises. We don't know. You can text us at 35253. That was exhausting. If there really is a person that does that for a living, I would not want to be them. And there's got to be somebody. It's got to be John Morris. I mean, he's got to be saying, he's got to be giving those answers. No, he doesn't talk. He's not even in San Diego. 35253 is our text number. Our phone number is 5701053. Give us a call. Mikey Show continues.

It's another Mikey moment. President Bush, let me ask you a couple questions about the hurricane. If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you. Well, about Hurricane Gustav. Hurricane Gustav. This is America, boy. I speak English. I am. That was the name of the hurricane, Gustav. It was Gustav. Bless you. No. President Bush. Sounds like you got a rough one there. Let me ask you. Do you think that some people think it's inappropriate that you are not going to cancel your speech and just let us heal? So there was another hurricane. Yeah. And we're supposed to cancel what? The World Series? No, no, no. The Mikey Show continues. Rock 105.3. Welcome back to the Mikey Show. It is 9-0-4. David Letterman says that he will stay with the late show through 2010, if not longer. Denver made a trade right before the season starts. They trade their cornerback, Dominic Foxworth, to Atlanta. This text message says, Hey, Eddie, I just saw the new billboard. You ever notice how much Mikey looks like a Mexican Greg Vaughn? That's P1-4-1.
This text says, just passed it on the 94. So cute. But what's going on with Shawnee's face? That's P1 Sunshine. My mom was wondering the same thing. Yeah, Shawnee's got quite a look on his face. It's like he does every day. They took the picture. They snapped it kind of quick. Like, you know, Zeth's eyes aren't even open. P1 Nocturnal says, just saw the billboard on the 94 this morning. Loved it. Made me double take and damn near crash in traffic. Oh, no. Don't do that. Yeah. Let's see. Mikey, you can have your blood tested for food allergies. That's P1 nudahead. Mikey, we are not winning because we lost Young and PB for almost half the season. There it is. Really? That's the answer. Really? The reason they're not winning is because they lost Young and PB for half the season. Right. If they hadn't, they would be going to the World Series or probably in the playoffs. Definitely, you know, 82 and... 82? 94. Probably would have won 94 games if... Probably would have won 94 games if Peavy and Young just had not been hurt. Let's see. The subject is Hans Bounty.
Oh, do we have an answer? Talk about it. Hey, guys, just got into the office. Did anyone find an answer to the question, which was, how much was the bounty on Han Solo in Star Wars? It says, I don't know if they ever actually say the price for Han. The only quoted bounty I was able to find was the one Jabba offered for Chewbacca in the scene where Leia brings Chewie to the palace. Jabba offers $25,000 and Leia demands $50,000 because he's holding a thermal detonator. That's in quotations. Wow, crazy. Mikey, this is the scene I was trying to remember when you were asking the question and then I realized it was the price for Chewie, not Han. Well, there you go. A good one? It's P1 Science, Holmes. Not quite what we're looking for. So we don't know the answer yet. There you are, Greg Vaughn. I want to see you. This is the... I'm the Mexican version of this guy. Oh, okay. There you go. That is interesting. Right on. That's too much. My dad is the Mexican version of Saddam Hussein. That is very serious. He nails it. He does a great job. He really does. He works hard at it. Oh, sure.
It travels the country. It's for hire for bar mitzvahs. Well said. Bar mitzvahs. I don't know what that is. Hey, thank you, Starbucks. You know what they're doing now? Dude, talk about it. They brought a bunch of oatmeal in for us. They're going to start selling oatmeal at Starbucks. I love that. Oatmeal tastes good. I love oatmeal. Awesome. This guy calls it goat meal. Yeah, the goats are great. And what I love about what they're doing with this is so like, you know, with the goat meal, you want your little sides like the brown sugar, the nuts or the raisins. So they give you all the sides in like individual packets and each packet lists a calorie count. So you can like add as much. I didn't even realize that. Do they tell you like how much is just in plain oatmeal? Oh, that's so great to know. Who knew that the packet of brown sugar is 50 calories where the packet of nuts is 100 calories? Oh, yeah. The nuts are more calories than the brown sugar. Sure. Really interesting. Oh, dude. It's genius, Eddie. I'm eating it right now. I put a bunch of fruit in mine. And isn't it like way cheap, Eddie? That's only $2.45. I can afford that. I'm like, what? Really? For a good, healthy breakfast? I love it. Goat's real good for you, right? Oh, it's so good for you. Fiber.
Yeah. Fiber. Sure. Keeps your regular, Mike. No, just keeping your regular. You know what that means. Well, no. I would go that far with it. It just helps regulate things. It means it helps you to go doo-doo. Okay. It's delicious. Good one. Thank you, Sean. Thank you, Sean. Thank you, Sean. Starbucks will appreciate that, Sean. Sean. That's good. So good, right? I like it when Eddie scolds Sean. You're making me laugh. You're going to make me laugh more when he's actually in studio for it. That's going to be gross. Because let me tell you. Dude, can you swallow that? That's so gross. What's the problem? Eddie is like Luke Skywalker at the end of Star Wars in the Death Star when it comes to comments to Sean. What does that mean? It hits him dead center every time. It's true. He knows exactly what to say. I won't deny it. To make Sean go into a mental tizzy. Cocoon. Cocoon. That's true. Thank you, Starbucks. It's yummy. You're right about me. Should we take some phone calls? Okay.
Because there's a person on the phone named Angel. I don't know if it's a guy or a girl. You never know the Hispanic community. But there's a person on the phone named Angel. I bet woman. If you're in Wisconsin, that's not an issue. It's like, oh, there's a young woman on the line named Angel. But if you're in San Diego, you're like, oh, look, I think on line one, there's someone named Angel. Definitely a guy. I think girl. Definitely Angel's a guy. Really? And he's Mexican. Okay. Hello, Angel. Yeah, this is Angel. Hey, how you doing? Put it on the board. Well, Angel, are you Mexican? No, I am actually born and raised in Sicily. How did that happen, that you came to be named Angel? I know. Adopted into a Mexican family. No.
Hey, I'm not joking or all kidding aside, that oatmeal tastes really good. I'm not even saying it because I'm trying to, like, be nice. Like, I'm just saying it like a matter of fact. That tasted really good. Yeah, it's good. It's high-quality oatmeal. Is there such a thing? Well, I like to consider myself a no-fat connoisseur. Yeah? Yeah, I eat a lot of oatmeal. It's, like, my favorite thing for breakfast. I've had multiple flavors from multiple different places and brands. Did you hear what she says? No. She says oatmeal is her favorite breakfast, and she has it all the time. And this is high quality. But she doesn't have it all the time. I know. Why do you even... I'll tell you why, Mike. It's the combination of the firmness, but also keeping it moist. It's a very... It's a fine line. Why do you lie, liar? Angel, do you know the amount of the bounty placed on Han Solo? I do. What is it? Well, this is for my Paisan Eddie there. It's quoted in the Bounty Hunter books as 300,000. 300,000 credits? Yes. Eddie? What do you think about that? Do you agree or disagree? Do you think that that is how much it was?
It's inappropriate and it sounds gross. Stop it. But I'm not. But I'm not. I stopped chewing immediately when you said that. Thank you. Thank you for the call, Angel. Not a fan. I always thought it was very compelling, you know. What did you think was compelling? Well, see, I didn't do it all smacky like that. Yes, you did. Yeah, I did. You kind of did, yeah. Mikey, I tried to call you guys, but I can't figure out the whole area code thing. Listen, how do you get phone calls if you have no area code and you never answer your text messages? Well, the answer to that is that any area code works in San Diego County. If you're trying to call 570-1053, you can use 619-858 or 760. They all work. So you can use any of them.
And when you say you never answer your text messages, boy, that would take a while. We get thousands of them. Couldn't answer them all. Mikey, I love when people talk with food in their mouth. That is signed P1 opposite. Let's do this. Let's take a quick time out. We'll just all realign. Our text number is 35253. You can call us if you want to, 5701053. Totally up to you. When we come back. Man, it's a free-for-all today. Did I tell you guys I had a BLT yesterday? Yes. Did I tell you that I patted the tomatoes dry with a napkin? In England, they call it kitchen paper. Eddie's had it. Eddie's had it. You guys get a lot of calls every morning that people will pick on Sky or Ashley or giving Eddie or Sean stuff. Every one of you are great. Thank you, man. The Mikey Show continues.

She doesn't really drink soda. If there was a ham in the gutter.
This guy's making fun of her husband because there were some workers across the street and they were drinking a bunch of squirt. Squirt, squirt, squirt, squirt. So funny. And they left the cardboard container with like four squirts in there. And so he grabbed it and put it in the fridge and he's been drinking it. He loves squirt now. And I call it his gutter soda. I'm trying to claim that I would do the same thing. You would. If it was something that you liked, like you said ham. I would not drink gutter soda. No. And for the record, Squirt is grapefruit soda. Okay? I don't care. I don't care. I'm talking to you, boo. I don't care what it says on that can. That is grapefruit soda. That's delicious. It's good. That is the flavor of it. Grapefruit. Buckley, I have to pull the curtain back just for a second. Oh, no. Buckley, your name was inconsideration.
For the Hall of Fame this year. That is true. Wow. And you wouldn't have been able to come to the ceremony? Oh, I would have made arrangements. Oh, really? Oh, really? Oh, really? Don't you get sick days for a reason? Aren't you coming down with something? I abused everyone and going to all the other things. Well, this is as big as it. There's three things that we do. Talk about it. 28-hour show. Yeah. Sticker strikes. And the P1 Hall of Fame. Those are the three biggest things that the Mikey Show does. Buckley, the answer is bleach. There it is. Wow. I'll see what I can do about Friday. Yeah.
That's what I'm talking about. Come on, Buckley. Hey, Buckley, don't get yourself in trouble, but if you can make it, it'd be awesome, man. I don't want you getting in trouble, but, man, it'd be cool to see you out there. We want you there. Honestly. Don't get in trouble, dude. I don't want that on my conscience. What do you guys need big giant trucks for? What do you carry in there? Drugs. No, Sky. It is not that. If I had a big truck, that's what I do. Yes, that's what you would have. Oh, okay. Don't tase me, bro. There it is. All right, dude, I'm going to give you three categories. You got 90s rock, songs from movie soundtracks, and in the year 2000. Songs from movie soundtracks. that people are saving money with AIS. I myself, Mikey, this is my insurance carrier. Now, don't just take my word for it. Who's this? P1 John. What's up, John? Hey, dude, I got to let all the P1s who ride know. Dude, go get your motorcycle insurance there. I've been working on a deal to get a new bike for about three weeks now, and I called up my insurance company. They wanted $900 a year, $1,600 on a 929. I called up AIS, went down there. They put me at $325 on my brand new FZ1. And the other bike would have been $748. Now, do you only drive a motorcycle? You don't have a car? Dude, I actually got my car insurance there last October. And they did me right, too. They saved you money on that, too? Dude, yeah, it was about $400. So if you have a motorcycle, if you have a car, you've got to switch over to AIS. Dude, thank you for calling, bro. Thanks, man. Here is the phone number. 1-800-777-4AIS. Or try their website, AISinsurance.com. Take a Delight presents Bad Habit Confessions. Last year, Californians replaced over 6 million regular lights with CFL's lighting, installed almost 400,000 Energy Star qualified cooling systems, and saved over $100 million thanks to home energy efficiency. Still finding some rough spots out here. We've got South 805 still backing up quite heavily down in the Chula Vista. As authorities investigate this earlier fatality accident, South 805 past Main Street. You're still being advised to avoid that area if you possibly can. Heading north in 805, that's much better now. Just a brief delay left over at Governor Drive. Still kind of tough though out of Escondido, though it is improving slowly. South 15 still slow from Auto Parkway down to Villarancho Parkway. Then a minor delay to Carmel Mountain Ranch. The rest of our freeways are pretty much back up to speed now. Looking pretty good. I'm McLaurin on Rock 1053. Back to the Mikey Show featuring Mikey. I picked my nose a lot.
Eddie. I just want my sandwich like I want my sandwich. Skye. I enjoy presents. What can I say? Sean. I'm Boston Rob. I'm kind of the transient of the bunch. And Ashley. I'm a very loving, nurturing person. On Rock 105.3. Back, it is 941. Tiger Woods announced yesterday that his wife is pregnant with their second child. USC jumps two spots in the polls as the new number one team in the country vaults over Georgia and Ohio State. Hey, Shawnee. I got your IM about the Tesla. Yeah. Sky and I were talking about the Tesla. So cool. Tesla's a vehicle. They're a great band. Yeah. That song, Love Song's great. They're a hybrid, but I think they're completely electric. Yeah, they're 100% electric. And Sean sent me a text that said that it delivers 100% torque at zero miles an hour. But what I don't understand...
I just don't understand because torque is measured in pounds. Yeah. I don't even know. Like a regular engine cannot deliver maximum torque off of the line. That's why you have gears. So you start at a very low torque and you gradually shift into a higher gear so that you achieve maximum torque at a very specific range in miles per hour. Sky, do you understand that? Yeah, I know. There's a band. There's like a... Like a rubber band? Not like a rubber band. Tesla's a band. We get it. Yeah. They're pretty good acoustics sometimes. Yes. Signs. See, I can't argue with this because this is true. This is true. That's the problem. Not their original song, but a great cover. Totally different thing, but man, you guys are right too. This is cool, Mike. Yeah, it's cool. Just let me just tell you. It's cool. It sounds good. It is cool. I want one. I saw one in one of my car magazines yesterday that's Italian. It looks like a Lamborghini. And the entire roof is solar panels. But it's $300,000. Oh. Yeah. Listen, I would love to drive one. I'm not joking. The only problem that I have is that I do love the sound of an aspirated engine. I love it. I love...
I love that. Well, the regular plug-in, 100% electrical, is about $100,000. Yeah. But it's a sports car. I mean, it kills it. Dude, the one that I saw is a trip. The one that I saw that looks like a Lamborghini, it's gullwing, which means that the doors open like this instead of outward. They open up. Like Back to the Future. Like in Back to the Future, like the DeLorean. So the doors open up. It looks real cool. It looks like a Lamborghini, and the doors open up. The driver sits in the middle. Shut up. And a person sits to his left and his right. What? Yeah. That's not normal. It's not normal. That's cool. But you're in the middle. That is cool. Money in the middle. You know what I'm saying? It kind of makes sense if you're in a lane. You know, because when you think about it, you're like, why are we on the right or the left? Shouldn't we be center, you know? I don't know. P1 Eric. Yeah. You have lied about every job you've ever had. Oh, my God. What do you lie about to get the job? Well, almost every job application asks for your high school diploma, and I never got one. About 15 jobs always lied about it. See, now, I don't have a high school diploma either. I've got a GED, and I got working in radio really young.
And then it just took off. And so I can't, I can't even relate to what that must be like. It's got to be tough to try to get a job and not be able to say that you've, that you're a high school graduate. What are they going to do, check that? I thought they checked it, but I've had, you know, 10, 15 jobs. Yeah. Always got the job. I think you should check in. I think you should be honest. I think you should be honest, and I still don't think it's going to make or break. I think that it's all about you and your approach and how much you're in their face. If I had an applicant, and they were exactly the same. And one said, I have a high school degree, and one said I didn't. And I'm taking the dude with the degree. No doubt about it. A hundred percent. Yeah, because lots of times you don't even get an interview until they go over the application. Because I get what you're saying. Face-to-face, you can make an argument for yourself. Check it out, though. But if they won't even give you the interview. Let's say I come to Sky's Ham Emporium.
Wow, that's tough to get a job. Hang on a minute here. Which is the finest establishment in terms of pork products. They are screening people like men. Absolutely, because they're not going to be selling their stuff willy-nilly. And I come in and I say, may I please speak to Ms. Skye? And they say, sure, you know. Stuffing her face in the bag. I'm a big fan of ham. Ham biscuits or whatever. Ham? You had me at ham and eggs. And I say, I am an applicant, and I would like to speak to her. And I say to you, I say, listen, Miss Sky. Oh. I just wanted to let you know that I have filled out an application to work here. Oh, great. I'll look over it later with all the other ones. Thank you for stopping by. Well, you're welcome. But I wanted to tell you that. I am not a high school. I'm in the middle of something right here. I mean, I own a business. I have a lot going on. But I will definitely look over your application. Thank you for taking extra time. You're a beautiful woman, ma'am. Thank you so much. Thank you for coming in. I wanted to tell you, I took the time to come here today. That's nice of you. Because I wanted to tell you personally that I think that you have the finest establishment there is. And I would love to work for you. Now, I am not a high school graduate. Oh.
But that's why I came here. I came here today to let you see how committed I am and let you see that I'm different than most of your applicants. Hit the bricks, pal. You're going out. Put that coffee down. Coffee is for graduates. Put that coffee down. Coffee's for graduates. Because the good news is you're fired. Oh, no. Sorry. Hey, listen. I know that with me, it's all about the ambition and the effort. What if somebody wrote you a nice card or something, Sky? And persistence. Listen, you would have to go the extra mile. But I think it would be worth it to be able to tell the truth. Yeah, persistence. Personally, I think it would be persistence and telling. Dude, think of how great you would feel about yourself if you were able to tell the truth. You would have to go the extra mile. When you're living on the streets. No, no, no. All you would have to do is send a card. If he really wants the job enough, he can get it. You don't know that that's going to get you there. That's it? Awesome. I don't know that it's going to get you a job. But I do think that if you go the extra mile, no matter what you do or who you are, even if you're a high school graduate. It helps. But the problem is that most people, they don't go the extra mile. Exactly.
And so I think that this guy could probably get by even not being a high school graduate if he just goes a little bit of the extra mile. I don't know. That's who I am, and you're nothing. Wow, I wouldn't have said that. Yeah, I mean, it's just a diploma. I don't know that it's really worth saying something is nothing. You drove a Hyundai to get here tonight. I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's my name. That's a long name. I don't appreciate you calling it a Hyundai. It is a lot. Really, his name? You see this watch? Yes. That watch costs more than your car. Understandable. I understand that. Probably true. Wow. Okay. I drove a Hyundai to work, but that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with me. Because you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight. That's what I just said. I drove an $80,000 BMW. Okay. That's my name. Thank you, Mr. Bowman. Show me your license. I don't believe that's your name. I don't believe it says that on your license. No, of course it doesn't. Can you produce? Hit the press, pal, and beat it because you are going out. Okay. All right. P1 Grimm. Yes, sir. What did you do? I applied to the Padres to be a GSR when Petco first opened up. What's a GSR? What is a GSR? Hold on. An usher. They're trying to make it a nice way of calling you an usher. What does GSR stand for?
A guest service representative. Oh, wow. Nice. Oh, wow. Yeah. Okay. And he basically asked me, oh, why should I give you the job? And I started BS-ing my way, saying, oh, I'm a huge Padre fan, and I used to love watching Tony Gwynn and Ken Caminetti, and I started naming all the big-name players that anybody would know. Uh-huh. And he bought it, and he gave me the job. Yeah. I think he was looking for that little zip, that little... enthusiasm that it takes to be a GSR these days. You know what I'm saying? Not everyone has it. They're all really enthusiastic. That's right. Yeah, well, I had to lie to be able to work with you, Mikey, the first time. Whoa. Sky? Fire her. What is this? Not anymore, so she just dropped on us. Mike, now's your chance. I love it. What did you lie about? I didn't have to lie to you, but I had, because when I started working for you, I was an intern. Uh-huh. But I was a sociology major. And I knew there was no way the sociology department was going to let me do my internship in radio. That makes no sense. So I said, how can I BS this to the sociology department to have them give me school credit for interning on the Mikey Show? So you were a brand new DJ up in San Jose at KSJO at the time. And, well, I don't know if this is a fact I made up or a true fact.
But I said that you were the first Hispanic DJ at this rock station. And that my job was to answer the phones during your show to gauge how people felt about a Hispanic DJ on a rock radio station. I made up fake charts and graphs about what the people on the phone were saying. Submitted it. She's resourceful. Submitted it. credit for my internship and graduated with a degree in sociology. You're good. Thank you very much. Jeff, didn't you do a little BSing? Yeah, during the apprentice competition. I knew it! I knew he was a phony! When we had one of the challenges where we had to put a YouTube video up. And I didn't know exactly what you guys were judging that by as far as criteria. So there's a pretty easy way to manipulate the YouTube hits that you get, the views. So that thing was, you know, I don't know how many hits it had. It had quite a few, but it definitely did not have that much legitimately because it was only up for, I think, six or seven hours by the time I was in the studio. So it had blown the numbers up. Fire him. How about that? Can you fire these two? There's a level of resourcefulness. Now, see, now this is the thing that I was saying to somebody the other day.
Rebecca. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I actually said this to, I was telling Shawnee about it. Rebecca was watching this special. Or maybe it was you, Sean, about the computer guy. The computer guy that basically was able to create an entire computer company. Oh, yeah, yeah, that was me. Tell everybody about that. This guy, he created a company that provided computers and provided tech support for computers. He built a very large business. It was an international business. It was a multimillion-dollar business. But what people found out in the end is that it was all built on loan upon loan upon loan upon loan that he would secure from banks. And the way he would secure them is he would bring them into their place of business. And he would tell them that they are expanding to meet.
You know, customer demands. He would bring them into a very large room that had racks and racks and racks of computers and hardware. And basically the bank wants to see that it's an actual business, that there are assets to take in case something goes wrong. And he would show them this thing, you know, and everything would be fine. Well, what they didn't know was and what the FBI found when they raided him was that all of those computers were just facades. There was nothing behind them. He hired an electrician at basically minimum wage to go in and wire in little LED lights to look like they were on and things were working and moving. And he had like fans behind there, just regular fans he would buy at Home Depot to create the sound and look of computers. Can you imagine? Wow. Now check this one out. Millions of dollars. Now check this one out. So there was a guy. There was a guy that. put up a website advertising for young people who wanted to be on a reality show. And it was for would-be models, men and women, that were interested in a career in modeling. And they were told that it was going to be a reality show. He had a full website with really cool animation. I mean...
It looked like it was put up by NBC. And he casted them. And he put them in a multi-million dollar penthouse. No way. In Miami. And he hired cameramen to film them. And he... Did a reality show. And he was the guy that would do like the side interviews. And they did this over a period of time. And he would, you know, capture them saying things like, I can't believe Tina did that. She's such a blah, blah, blah. Well, what do you think about? Oh, well, I think da, da, da, da, da. And the confessionals and the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. All a scam. He was a pervert. Now, how did they find out? How did they find out? Because one of the camera guys. The guy ran out of money. And so he couldn't pay the camera guy anymore, and the camera guy quit. Well, the camera guy says to, like, Dateline NBC, who he works for, he's like, I don't know if this is anything, but I was working for this dude, and he da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, and Dateline investigates it, and the whole thing was a scam. Now, check this out. He fires the camera. The camera guy quits. Right. Okay?
And he somehow, because he's so slick, is able to lie. And he is able to convince these participants on the show that production needs to continue to move. And that all of the cameras that are set up are going to continue to work, but that there won't be a single cameraman filming them. Freaky. So they continue to do this thing. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. And it's all fake. The whole thing is fake. Now, my thinking with it was, and my thinking with it is, you know, in terms of like when you're lying to get the jobs and all this stuff, usually when you're successful at it, it's because you're smart. Yeah. Imagine what that dude that was able to pull that off and what that dude that was able to do the computer stuff, imagine what those guys would be capable of doing.
If they applied themselves in that way, because they're obviously brilliant. I mean, you don't do that easily. You know, that takes work. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number is 35253. Very briefly, the text message says, Mikey, how do I get into the poker tournament? Just go. There's a buy-in. Just go. There's a buy-in. Tomorrow night, poker at Harrah's with the show. Imagine if you were to scratch it. Uh-oh, look at Eddie's cleaning his nose with the tips of his fingers. How is he, San Diego? Too little, too late. Stop. Oh, dude, don't. I think you might enjoy this. Now it's time for the YouTube clip of the day. Sometimes when... You are a parent. Your kid will give you tough love like Eddie gives. Wait, what? Eddie gives a tough love. He tells it like it is. He tells it like it is, right? And sometimes kids, they don't really have that filter of, you know, that might not be appropriate to say to mommy. The kid? The kid. The kid. When they're real young, like this kid's about Jake's age. And, you know, my son's about to turn two. Sometimes they don't have that filter of like, oh, man, maybe I shouldn't say that. Cut 33. Tell me what you just said. I like you when you give me cookies. You like me when I give you cookies, but you don't like me all the time? Yeah, no. Why? I like you, only love you to get cookies from me. Oh, so only when I give you cookies do you like me? Yeah. Oh. Okay, I love you. I love you too, but...
I like you all the time. Okay, thanks. There you go. That's honest. Let's be honest. The kid isn't going to butter it up and play Kate. You can love your wife, but you don't have to like her all the time. Right, yeah. Listen, kid thought to herself, okay, I could beat around the bush, but mommy's not going to be helped by that. Right, and I'm not getting my cookie. Not only that, but mommy has taught me to be honest. And so in the spirit of honesty, I don't love you all the time. I mean, I love you if you give me the cookies. I love you. For sure, for sure. As long as there is a cookie-free commerce going on and there is no embargo, we're good to go. You can all love you want. Love, love, love. Start holding back them cookies. Yeah, cookie stop. Bye-bye, love. Bye-bye, love. Cut 20. That's the revamped version. I know my friend's guy. And I know she did not like 90210 last night as much as she's pretending to like it right now. What do you mean? I know it.
I know it for a fact. I don't know why he's saying it. I know it. Why would he say something? I don't know. You've got that giant smile on your face. That's crazy. You loved it. That's crazy. Well, 90210 debuted last night. Don't go into news mode. And their ratings. Their ratings last night for their debut episode was 34% higher. Then the season premiere of Gossip Girl. Oh, wow. 4.9 million people. That's nothing. That's a lot. That is huge. For their network. That is huge. That is huge. That is huge. That is huge. It's awful. Well, I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what's not awful. No, it was awesome. I'll tell you. I'll tell you what is not awful. I loved it. Yeah, please, Mike. What is not awful is acting. Oh, that is so true. Okay, now I'm going to set the scene for you. I'm going to set the scene for you. Let me set the scene. Even Sky's already laughing. Let me set the scene. Now I know it sucks. In this scene, Jenny Garth, you know, who plays Kelly, and Shannon Doherty, who plays Brenda, are reunited. Wow. Guess where? Peach Pit. The Pit. Yeah.
That's just the pit now. It's not the peach pit anymore? It's just the pit. It's just the pit. It's so cool. 2008, look into it. Now, what I really want you to listen for here is the amazing acting of Shannon Doherty as she is ordering food from Nat. What's the guy's name that plays? Joe Itata. Joe Itata. As she's ordering food from the owner of The Pit. Oh, that was sick. You know, fries and a burger and a shake or whatever. Just listen to, you know, and then, and then, oh, oh, you know. No. Cut 25. No, I'm meeting someone. Nat, get me a shake, french fries, extra crispy. Is he brought you in this place again? How's your brother? Oh, Brandon is good. He told me to tell you that every single time he thinks of you, he craves a mega burger.
I made an impression. And he told me to tell you that you are beautiful. Yes. He said that on the phone at 3 a.m. when he called from Belize. What is with you, Walsh kids? You can't stay in one place. Well, I'm here for at least a month doing the play, so that should count for something. Yes, it does spend some more time together. I mean, it's been too long. The last time you saw Sammy was when he was a baby. I know. I was thinking that we spent a lot of time over the last couple of years, you know? So when I say we stop wasting it and get back to where we were. My only question is, what are we doing here? Just having milkshakes? That's a good question. Yeah. Eddie. Because I'm telling you, man, it's Eddie. I'm looking at Eddie and he's just got the body language of you're you're you're kidding me. Right. Like the body language is just like, I mean, are you for real? Are you for real? Let's not all jump to conclusions here.
We don't need to judge a show based on one clip, okay? Let's listen to another one. No, no, no. Let's listen to one more clip and see. Not a Kelly and Brenda. Yeah, no, let's listen to a clip that deals. Not a Kelly and Brenda. I'm sorry. How about this? There's a whole new cast. Let's update. Let's update. Mike. Let's update 90210. Let's now involve. Let's now involve. Awesomeness is the point. Let's now involve topics that are more cutting edge in 2008. For instance, in this scene, Kelly is talking to her, played by Jenny Garth. Kelly's talking to her stepsister, Erin Silver, who just goes by Silver. So sick. David Silver? Yeah. How is that? Well, if you remember, Kelly's mom married David's dad. So that makes them. So in this scene. They share the same father. Kelly is talking to her stepsister, Erin Silver. Silver. So cool. So cool, right? She is. She's talking to her about... She doesn't try to. She's talking to her about... You ready? You ready for this? 2008. Her video blog. Oh, yeah. Oh, it's huge. It's huge. Eddie just... Get so many hits. Yeah, like half a million hits. Half a million hits at West Ban. Oh, so... Freaking... Oh.
Let's find the biggest buzzword. Yes. Yep. Were they texting? Were they texting all through? Let's do blog. Sidekick this. Come on. Grow up, everyone. Coach bag that. Oh, yeah. You're gay. They're very with it on this show. Cut 21. So how'd that go? She wasn't so into it. Can you blame her? Silver, how many times have we had to talk about this blog of yours? All it does is cause problems. Problematic. Cause problems. She has a lot of anger. You know, you can't make me stop. It's not like it's a school activity. Okay, I'm not talking to you as a guidance counselor right now. I am talking to you as your sister. Okay. Then, as my sister, you know what Naomi did, and I hate her. Yes, but this didn't hurt Naomi. It hurt Annie. Come on, you've got to let go of that anger. It's not doing you any good. You don't want to end up like Mom. Try. So, how is Mom? She's fine. You know, she's Mom. Hey, listen.
How dare you. Be honest. I got a question, Eddie. Can she be honest? I will be honest. She loved it. No, she didn't. She didn't. I know her. I will be honest with you. When I first started watching it, I kind of had a, oh, no. And it took me a little while to warm to the new characters. Like Silver? Yeah. But I'm all in on Silver now. All in on Silver. All in on Silver. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, wait. My wife is calling to support. Good, good. Yeah, and I think Kelly and Brenda distract from the goodness of the show and actually kind of bring it down a lot. Me too. I wish they wouldn't be on that show. Well, definitely, Shannon. What if it's 90210? Babe. Hi. Tell me you're... Oh, I'm just so excited. Yay! I love 90210. I season passed it, and I watched about an hour of it last night. I have to watch the other hour sometime today. It was too...
Hours? It was a premiere, Mike. It was two hours. A lot happened. Yeah, a lot. We've learned a lot. You've got to really make sure to sit down and watch that second hour because twist and turn, twist and turn. You know what it is? It's like a combination of the original 90210 and the OC. Yes, it is. I'm in love with it. It's like Gossip Girl. But you guys are in your 30s. We grew up with 90210. It's really sentimental. Question, question, question, question. It doesn't make you crazy like watching the ridiculous dramatics. No. Oh, wow. Like that scene in the pit. With the Kelly and the Brenda and the Nat. Probably one of the worst scenes. Was the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. Yeah, we could do without that. That was a bad depiction of the show. No, that's not. You didn't watch. It's part of the show. That was like Kelly and Brenda were probably about five minutes of the two hours. I was going to say 5% of the show. Yeah.
So what you're saying is... I'm going to watch it, and if it's longer than five minutes... Yeah, it's not. So what you're saying... So you taped it, too. Yeah, of course. I loved 90210 back in the day, but that sounded like crap. You'll enjoy it. Yeah, you will. You have to overlook the really bad acting to get in, to dive into the appreciation of the show. Just like all those shows that we love. The O.C. The O.C. got terrible. Come on. You still watched it? No, I didn't. You still watched it. No, I did not. I just stopped watching it. Okay. We'll see. Okay. I'm so excited. Yeah, it was great, Rebecca. Who's Naomi? Oh, wow. I do not like her. She looks a little like Starlet Johansson, Charlize Theron, a little bit of that look. She's a beautiful young lady. You think they look totally different? Yes. Okay, then Charlize Theron. Yeah, I think her. Yeah, Charlize Theron.
Beautiful. She's the rich one. She's the snobby one. You know, she has the hot boyfriend who's the head of the lacrosse team, the captain. Lacrosse. What? I don't know why they're doing this. They are in Beverly Hills, you know. The lacrosse team. Come on. Because it wouldn't be cool to be, like, with the football player. I got all the pictures. The quarterback. I got all the pictures. Here we go. Here's all the new kids on 90210. Beautiful. Which one? The one. Token. Token black dude. Token black guy, of course. Yeah, she looks like Charlize Theron. Yeah, and the one token black guy. Oh, yeah, of course. His name is Ayo, which is really weird. I mean, that's the strangest thing in the world. That is strange. All right, honey, I love you. I love you. Oh, wow. That was his scene. There he is. And cut. Wow. I don't know. Highly recommend it. Mm-mm. I can't wait to see what the new topics kids will be facing on 90210. Oh, it was pretty scandalous in that first minute. There's a lot going on. I don't even know. I don't even think I can say on the Mikey show what went on in the first minute or so. That's scatological. She can't say. I mean, it's an FCC violation. I'm serious. On broadcast television. Yeah.
You see the girl's head pop up from the dashboard. Aye, aye, aye. On 90210? Yeah, in the first couple minutes. Oh, my goodness. How about that? They did. I guess they do on the CW. It's Donna Martin. It's a Wild West. It's Donna Martin. She was trying to get pregnant. How dare you? You will watch it, and you will love it. I don't think so. Last night, Eddie shamed somebody out of taking somebody in fantasy football. It was hysterical. It was so funny. I didn't mean to. It comes to this guy's pick. It was more B-dub than me. It comes to this guy's pick, and the guy was, what he was doing was he was drafting a defense too early. It was the fourth round, Mike. I mean, what was he thinking? And you don't usually do that until later. Way later. The least important thing. He goes, I will take. defense, and Eddie goes, oh, bravo, yeah! You're so rude. I made a mistake. I thought he said the full thing, which was hysterical to me, but all he said was defense, and then once I shamed him, he goes, fine, fine, fine, I'll take Andrew James. It was hysterical. What a dummy. JB had a multi-million dollar program with him on a computer laptop. No joke. This guy, Shauna's husband,
He had like this program that, you know, you get, you got the whole thing. Gave him a suit and a tie. That's right. Hey, listen, like a million bucks. He was the real general manager. He walked in there and I go, I go, what, did you get into law school or what's going on? And he goes, hey, listen, you dress. For success, okay? He goes, look at you. He goes, look at you. He goes, what do you got on right now? I got cargo shorts and a t-shirt. Exactly. Exactly. He's the best. So he sits down. He sets up his laptop. He's got this whole computer program on there for the fantasy football. And as players are taken, he loads it in that they're taken. And then he'll tell him the best player available. He drafts a guy. Yeah. We're all kind of impressed by it. Yeah. Until he drafted a guy that's no longer in the league. I didn't know that? Shut up. Oh, shut up. Oh, sure. Wow. Well. Program did not. Okay. Whoops. That was a good time. He's like, oh, Jerry Rice is still available. Yeah, hey, how's he still there? I'll take him. Yeah, I got two players that 10 years ago, man, I would have had a solid draft. I got Brett Favre and Isaac Bruce last night. I got to tell you, Mike. Stop. Don't make me feel worse, please. I'm going to vomit. Can you let me speak? I'm going to throw up. I was going to say. Yeah.
If Brett Favre would have made it past you, I was going to take him. Well, I understand this. You got Favre? I got Favre. You got the handsome devil. That's sick. Maybe we'll make a trade, Mike. I'll give you a starter. You give me Brett Favre. I think you did better than you thought you did. Well, I didn't. I did not. Did it? No, I didn't. I always feel good about the draft. Even when I haven't done well, I felt good about it. When I leave, I go, you know what? Not bad. Last night, turd. Total turd. Total turd of a draft. Let's see. Speaking of a total turd, last night, Ashley was trying to figure, this is from her yesterday email. She was debating whether or not to have her from Friday, okay? Last night was Tuesday. She was debating whether or not to have her leftover. Brace yourself. I mean, if you're driving right now, put your seatbelt on and pull that thing real tight. Don't do it. Skye, hold on to that console. Dude. But we're supposed to hang out today. He's being dramatic. Okay, okay. Yeah, totally dramatic, Skye, because what she wanted to do was reheat from Friday halibut and rice. Skye looked like her mouth just filled with saliva. Skye's mouth just filled with saliva. Skye's mouth cracked.
What it was, in my head, I was saying, if it's fish, we will no longer be friends. If it is fish. If it is fish. Four-day-old fish. Calibit. Eddie. Eddie, she was trying to Google how to do it. Because it was an expensive dish, and she didn't want to throw it out. Well, it was the special. It was $27. Nothing is more disgusting. Nothing is more disgusting than rice. That's a day because it gets hard rice. Okay. Nothing's more disgusting than rice except fishy rice. Yeah, I agree, which is why I Googled every website I could how to reheat halibut and rice. You have to steam it. Okay. None of it. Rob, you're just being a wiseacre over there. None of them said that. And you know it. I was way off. That is so foul. And then microwave it.
She settled on some cookies and a bag of 100-calorie popcorn instead. Smart. All these websites I was going to. She eats like a toddler. That was left alone by her parents. Unsupervised. Don't do it. It's like some kid who was left alone. Yes, like a latchkey kid. Like, oh, cookies. It's like there's no supervision. Cookies and 100-calorie popcorn. This, by the way. Came only after trying to figure out how to reheat halibut and rice. Every single website was like, don't do it, don't do it. You'll get food poisoning, you'll be good. Don't do it. So I like checked like eight sources. I'm like, I guess I can't, you know. And so I just baked a batch of cookies. Next time just call them. Ate it, had some popcorn. I'll walk you through the process. She could have got really sick. Hey, listen, my brother, my brother, Mark, is the same way. That guy will save. And you know these people. Oh, I do. You know the leftover people. There's leftover people and there is no leftover people. Right. And then you do have this kind of gray space in between where there are leftover people, but they don't go too far. Like one day leftover. Exactly. And then it's done. And now I've gotten to the point where.
I will just flat out say, no, you know, can we box this for it? No, thanks. Because I know what's going to happen. It's going to go home. It's going to sit in there. I mean, a lot of us have, you look in your refrigerator, you see white bags. Oh, that's my fridge. You know what I mean? Yeah, because I hate to like not finish my meal. So for some reason I don't, which I usually do, I'll take it home and eat it the next day. Yeah, my mom freezes everything. Like we'll come over and she will literally serve us pizza from like three months ago. Oh, man. It's in the fridge? No, freezer. She freezes everywhere. Come on, Skye. She believes that the freezer is like a time barrier. It's pausing time. It's like a TiVo. It's like a food TiVo. Like three-month-old pizza. No joke. She's like, hey, I season-passed pizza. You want to watch it? Skye, talk to me through this. Does she vacuum freeze? Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Hold up. Wait a minute. Yeah. Your mom. Yeah. Will take the pizza. Yes. Stick it in a Ziploc. Yes. Seal it. Yeah. And stick it in the freezer. Then, a couple of months later, she'll take it out. And how will she go about heating it? Or will she let it fall? In the oven. Yeah. So she'll just place it right in the oven. Yeah. 350 or whatever. Right. Bring it up to temp. Mm-hmm. How's it taste?
Oh, wow. There's a lot of blinking in Sky's face right now. A lot of blinking. It's really not that bad. I mean, it's not as good as a fresh pizza. Really? Oh, really? But it's not horrendous. When all the ice has crystallized on all the toppings and then... She wipes it off. And made the crust slightly soggy, but you're still able to work with it. Yeah, there is a little sog to the crust. Yeah, you know, it's like the dough has become what the dough was originally before it was baked. Before it ever got put in the oven. Yeah. Sean, are you still there? No, Sean's gone. I figured that one might chase him off. Yeah, Skinner loves to freeze things. That is outrageous. My wife has really become a fan of the frozen foods. She loves frozen stuff. Like the lean cuisine. Yeah. And ever since she had Jake, she's into sweets. Nice. Yeah. She goes, I got animal crackers for my lunch. You're cute. I love animal crackers. I do too. They're so good. I can't keep them in the house. So I go, I just.
I just want the animal crackers. Just every once in a while, I'm just in the mood for like a little sweet. And she kind of laughs and she goes, me too. Can't keep them in the house. And the frozen stuff. She loves that frozen. You guys want to know? Let me set you up with a little tip. Dryers, mint chocolate chip ice cream. No low fat. Just the regular. Dryers, mint chocolate chip ice cream. First one's free. Have it in my freezer right now. As we speak. Delicious, right? It's the best. Dude, that stuff is like crack. It is. I don't know what they put in that stuff, but it ain't right, and it shouldn't be legal. Yeah. My wife, I'll be like, didn't I just get some mint chocolate chip ice cream? She goes, I don't. Did you? Did you get some? I don't know. I don't know. Paris Hilton says she's over the club scene. Oh.
And then she caught on fire. Yeah, she just talks about in an interview how she's over it now. She doesn't want to go to clubs. For a while, she was caught up in that lifestyle, but it left her feeling very empty. And now she has her boyfriend, Benji, who's her best friend. And she's just a different person now, you guys. Are you serious? Please, Benji. Come on. This last 20 minutes, I just want to go back in time. Frozen pizza, Paris Hilton, halibut. Halibut and rice. It's a lot to take in at once, right? It's gross. Well, I got good news because we got to get out of here, man. I should have signed off 40 minutes ago. 570-1053 is our phone number. 35253 is our text, but you don't need that because we're leaving. We got to go. Super late. Super late. Sean will be in here tomorrow morning. Live and in person. It's my favorite of the year. Yeah, him and I are going to go buy a shower head today after I pick him up. You guys, I have the busiest day today, man. Oh, my goodness. Get after it, you animal. Seriously. Let's take some calls. 570-1053.
There's so much running around. I had a CVS. I had to do a billion things. I wish that Sky were my personal assistant. You seem really excited about doing all those things today. I don't like that stuff, man. Don't like that stuff. I just don't like being an adult sometimes. It's the worst, right? Man, being like a teenager would really sick. Wouldn't it, you guys, how great would it be if we could go home and dinner's made, you know, like by your mom? Your laundry's done. Your laundry's done. And like your big responsibility is like algebra. Study. Like reading two chapters. Like that's the biggest thing on your plate today. And you're like kind of bogged down by that. You're like, oh man, I got to read a couple chapters tonight. And you got TV, phone, internet, no rent. Xbox. Xbox. Dude. I get to go to my condo, scrape paint off my wall, and try to match it and paint my place today. You're going to paint it again? I have to. Dude. That's what I get to do today. Being a grown-up is so dumb. It's stupid. It's so lame. It's really overrated. It is overrated. Didn't you guys think it was going to be really cool? 570-1053. Mikey Show. Oh. Oh, no. Ladies and gentlemen, AO is on the line. Finally.
What up, ladies and gentlemen? What's going on, dude? What's the haps? I'm a little down in the dumps today, man. What are you talking about? What's going on? Well, you know, considering my new job on 90210, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Keeps you busy. That's right. Yeah, man, but to be the token black guy, I'm the lowest paid, and already next week I'm supposed to die. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. That's right. And what's even worse is the character's name is Token, which is really, I mean, what's up with that? I'm saying, man, it's getting on my nerves, and I threatened to quit, but they're like, we'll just get another one to replace you. Oh, my goodness. That's garbage. Unbelievable. Call Jesse Jackson. That's right. Ladies and gentlemen, Isaiah Washington on the line. Y'all take it easy. All right. P1 Spuds. Hey, what's going on, Mikey? What's up, dude? Hey, you're talking about 90210. What's up with the lacrosse comment? What's wrong with lacrosse? Yeah, what do you got to say now? It was the richness of the sport. In other words, they couldn't play. She couldn't be in love with the baseball player or the football player. Of course, because it's 90210, it's got to be lacrosse. Why? Because polo was unavailable, right? So calm down. We weren't making a comment about lacrosse. Take it easy. I know you're very upset. Take it easy, lacrosse.
Focused Army team, and we like won. Oh, yeah. You don't even know. Against all odds. La Crosse is the best. Thank you. We love La Crosse very much. Thank you. It's P1 La Crosse. The mic's still on it. Oh, God. P1 Beth. What's up? I was just going to say, tell Ashley, be careful with the bananas tomorrow, because the nurse, I've seen some kids come in the ER who have eaten too many bananas, and it can mess with your potassium. You know what? Actually, hang on. I think you're right because my... Okay, I believe... I don't know where I heard this story, so I don't want to say where I heard this story. Say it. Oh, I do remember where I heard this story. I heard this story from a 90-year-old woman in my writing class. Your BF. My BF. Her name was Dorothy. Not Dorothy. Not Dorothy. Dorothy. What? D-O-R-O. Dorothy. T-H-Y. And if you said Dorothy, no, no, no. Wait, but you're saying the same word. Sorry, dear. It's Dorothy. Dorothy. No, no, lad. No, it's not. It's Dorothy. Dorothy? Yes, Dorothy. Yes, yes, yes. Dorothy? No, it's Dorothy. Dorothy. Listen, you stupid son of a bitch. Now, listen. So, she told this story about her father.
who was joining the army with his twin brother. They were on a train on their way to enlist into the army, and one of the brothers was real skinny. So he bought a bunch, and you had to weigh in, and you had to meet a certain requirement in order to be able to join the army. So dude ate like a whole bundle of bananas on the way to the thing, and he barfed his guts out. It made him really, really sick. And so he couldn't join the army, and he had to stay. uh, at home. And two weeks later he met her mother and that's how she was born. And yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, but it all started with these bananas. But I, when she said that right now, you're only going to get like four down. You're going to be fine. It's however many I can eat in a minute. Yeah. Yeah. Like I'm not, you're not going to get that. You can't get that many down. Right. Cause I even know on the soup diet, which I did one time and one day you had to eat like eight bananas and I was fine. Oh really? Yeah. Oh, my goodness. One day you eat bananas, one day you eat the meat, one day you eat the... Okay. Well, hey, Beth, we appreciate the info, though. I appreciate that. All right. Just looking out for her. Thank you very much. Good looking out. Wow. Ladies and gentlemen, the lovely and talented Missy is coming. What are we going to do? Just eat milkshakes here? Come on. Let's go. What are we talking? Today, the lovely and talented Missy has the all-request lunch. Give her a call. Make your requests.
Tomorrow, we're going to have a couple of P1 trivia winners in the studio. Sean will be live with us in the studio. Catered food in the studio tomorrow. It's going to be a party. See you back here tomorrow morning at 5.30. The Mikey Show's out.
