Mikey and Skye argued over Sarah Palin's Republican convention speech: Skye called it attack-heavy and short on policy, while Mikey said both parties attack and Barack Obama often substitutes inspiring rhetoric for specifics. Chargers linebacker Sean Merriman said four specialists let him choose whether to play through torn knee ligaments and that he would postpone six-month surgery to avoid losing the season; Alton Brown separately explained Feasting on Waves and said cooking Caribbean fish soup turned a wary bar owner into a friend. In the studio, Megan beat Ashley by eating nearly three bananas as Ashley gagged and germaphobe Sean recoiled, while Sean's earlier complaints about dust and shower residue became a mock hotel-service dispute. The show also covered Tatum Bell allegedly taking Rudy Johnson's luggage, a Craigslist robbery staged at a vacant house, abusive Point Loma Nazarene hazing, and Rage Against the Machine marching with protesters after police blocked its set. Callers traded stories of copying dangerous movie and television stunts, including bike jumps, roof leaps, train-track chicken, and a failed backflip that caused temporary paralysis.
What happened, in order
The Stolen Luggage
Rudy Johnson said Tatum Bell took his luggage after being cut by the Lions and returned the bags without his clothes, cash, wallet, or credit cards.
Palin's Convention Speech
Skye called Sarah Palin's convention speech polished but overly negative, while Mikey argued that Democrats also attacked opponents and often offered inspiring rhetoric instead of specifics.
Sean Reviews His Room
The hosts turned germaphobe Sean's complaints about dust, shower residue, and a low showerhead into a mock hotel-service call with his embarrassed host.
Merriman Explains His Knee
Sean Merriman said four specialists gave him the choice to play through torn knee ligaments, and he chose to postpone six-month surgery rather than miss the Chargers' season.
Alton Brown on Food and Connection
Alton Brown described sailing the Caribbean for Feasting on Waves and said cooking fish soup with a wary bar owner turned distrust into friendship.
The Banana Showdown
Megan ate nearly three bananas in one minute while Ashley gagged on the mushy texture, lost decisively, and left germaphobe Sean horrified by the mess.
Do Not Try This at Home
The hosts and callers recalled copying dangerous screen stunts, including homemade bike ramps, train-track chicken, roof jumps, car-window dives, and a backflip that caused temporary paralysis.
Craigslist Trap House
A couple allegedly advertised a plasma television, lured a cash-carrying buyer to a vacant rental house, pulled a weapon, and failed to rob him when he fought back and escaped.
Point Loma Hazing
Point Loma Nazarene fired residence hall director Josh after freshmen were allegedly forced to march naked to the ocean, swim, endure slaps, and suffer degrading abuse.
Rage Joins the Protest
After police stopped Rage Against the Machine from playing an unpermitted protest set, the band marched with the crowd as everyone sang two of its songs a cappella.

Sky is giving the hand signals right now. Sky is giving the hand signals right now to Eddie and Sean and say, hey, calm down. We're all having a difficult morning. A rough start. Wait a minute. I think a more accurate way to say that is that I think Sky's had a little bit of a rough morning and everybody else has been having some laughs. It's been the most dramatic rose ceremony yet. And we're all scrambling to... And strangle you with... My bare hands. Okay. Did everybody hear that? That was a threat. It was. It was a threat directed at you. Let me tell you something. It was already this morning. It was like that opening scene in Grease. Sky says to Eddie, stop showing off in front of your friend. Sandy.
Because you know that when your friend's not here, you are in the palm of my hand, you love me, and you are all... I still do. I don't know what her problem is this morning. I think maybe it's that time. 6.06, you mean? Well, more of a monthly thing. 6.00. This guy is breathing deeply. It is 6.07 now. Last night, John McCain was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for president. Could be one of my favorite sports stories ever. New Lions running back Rudy Johnson says his luggage was stolen by Tatum Bell after Tatum got cut. Okay, and Tatum Bell played for the Lions, right? Yes, he was the running back there. But once they signed Rudy Johnson, they cut him. And apparently he was very upset. And stole Rudy's luggage, which was returned to Rudy empty with no clothes, his wallet gone, credit cards, money, everything. You're kidding. Unfortunately, I'm not kidding. It is a story that is fact. Okay, so I'm just trying to sort it out. So when I ask questions that seem redundant or ridiculous, just help me out here. I'm confused as to whether or not.
that means that Rudy is, in fact, factually correct, that Tatum Bell did, in fact, factually steal his luggage and return it empty, or is this Rudy Johnson's half-cocked story? This is a quote from Rudy. He says, all this happened when he got released. He came in to get some stuff out of his locker, and that's when he scooped up the bags. Yeah, I believe there's security camera footage that shows him taking the bags. Okay. Wow. My jaw's dropped open right now. It's pretty special. I don't know what to say. It's a good one. I'm telling you, I read it, and before we went on the air, I said to Eddie, is this thing that Rudy Johnson is saying, is this like a prank? Is it funny? And Eddie goes, no, I'm going to lead with it.
Cuckoo is right. Yeah. That's cuckoo. That's cuckoo. But I'll tell you what is not cuckoo and what is really cool, and that is that football, ladies and gentlemen, is back. Who's playing tonight? Tonight, you're going to see the defending champion New York Giants take on the Washington Redskins. How about that? Any predictions? I don't know anything about either one of these teams, except that the Giants wear blue. Redskins wear red. It's going to be an interesting game. You know, I mean, the Giants were pretty decimated with injuries on the defense, but, you know, still got Eli Manning. Oh. Awesome. Super Bowl quarterback. I heard Jeremy Shockey left. Jeremy Shockey's gone, you know, but they still got Plaxico Burris and Brandon Jacobs and all those guys. They'll still be competitive, but in Washington.
You know, I'm still waiting to see. I haven't heard if Jason Taylor is going to play. I heard it was a game-time decision. But, you know, I think the Redskins are going to be improved. They're under new head coach Jim Zorn. That'll be interesting. Who do you like in the game? If I were to select a winner tonight, I would take the Giants. Well, I am excited about the NFL being back. Love it. And how can you not be excited about the fact that Shawnee O'Boy is back and sitting in the studio with us right now? He is? That is correct. There he is. Shawnee O'Boy. All right. Sitting right there. Not happy. Let the romance begin. What's the matter, Sean? Is it something to do? Did Sky do something wrong? You just pointed at Sky? Pass them. Oh, Zeth? No, no, no. He shouldn't be talking about our guests. I know he's not talking about our guests when he points. That would be rude. That would be rude. It would be. It would be, and it is. Sean is upset. Okay, now it's Sean. Okay. When he blocks. They can see you. Yeah, when he holds his hand up and then he points with his index finger at the guests that we have in the studio, they can still see it, you know.
But yeah, Sean's a germaphobe. I can use a different finger if you want. It's okay. It's okay. Sean's a germaphobe. He's a germaphobe. I'm offering. Okay. 570-1053, why don't you call us and text us, 35253. That's our text number. We'd love to hear from you. We have two listeners in the studio. Hydroponics and Leonidas are both in the studio. Nice to have them. What an honor. What an honor, right, guys? Hydroponics, Leonidas. There it is. Spartans! I have that on DVD. You should watch that. Probably watch it today. That got me all fired up for it. I am Mikey. I'm the host of the show. And I'm 38 years old. And I have a lot of mosquito bites. I'm assuming mosquito bites. I'm with you. I don't know if they're mosquito bites or what they are. Maybe they're little, you know. Spider bites, but I'm going to... Tarantulas. Tarantula bites. I think they're... Could be malaria welts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They could be. Could be mosquitoes. Could be malaria welts. Leasions. Whatever. But, yeah, I got a little mosquito. Leasions. It's that time of year where those mosquitoes are out biting everybody up. Really bummed out. Wanted to make a BLT yesterday. Didn't get around to it. Gosh, that is really disappointing. So, testimony goodbye.
That's all I have to offer for you today. Eddie is our producer. He is our sports guy. The best. He is holding his hands up in victory and now pointing to Skye with his index fingers. That's right. They are chums. Yep. B.S. Fun. Let's see. Skye is 30. She's rocking the headband, which looks good. She's got the black one on today. Sexy. That's right. Thank you. She's our girl. Thank you. She does news for us. Known her for a long time. We met when I was in my 20s. This guy was still in her 20s at the time. Pablo Español. That's right. Shawnee O'Boy in studio with us. He is our sound effects guy. So cute. He's very tall. Six foot three. And short hair. Salt and Peppa time. Ashley is our assistant producer. She is 25 years of age.
She was raised in the Bay Area. What did you say, Eddie? Surprise, 25. 25. Quarter century old. She's got a boyfriend. Oh, my God. His name is Mark. His name is really not Mark, but we call him Mark. And she's a good gal. Boston Rob. Yeah. 25. Today he's back on phone screening duty. What? And we're doing that just because. It's kind of easier with the seating arrangements that we have here in the studio. When Sean comes in, he sits at the big boy table. I always feel guilty. He should. Get out. Why? He's a real jerk, Mike. He's taking rocks. Like I'm kicking him out of his house. Kicking him out of his house. You're a big kid. Get out. Everything's good. He doesn't really use it anyway. You're a good point. You're good. And then finally, there's Roosevelt, Zethian, Oates, the third junior Esquire, MD, DDS.
Inc. Rosie. And he is 23. And he's sitting over there in the corner. He's in that school desk that I got put in here in the studio. Same kind of school desk that, say, an elementary school student would sit in. Laugh out loud. I think so. 570-1053 is our phone number. And let's talk. I know what people want to talk about. P1 Jackal. Mikey, how's it going? It's going good, dude. I just wanted to get your guys' feel on Governor Palin's speech last night. I thought it was awesome. I thought she did a great job. I believe it's Palin, right? Yes, it's Palin. Sky saw it. I was busy last night and did not see it. But what did you think? What is your impressions, P1 Jackal? Well, I definitely think that she could take a punch and definitely give one back.
I thought she was definitely, um, well put together. She had, um, a great, a great message. I thought she delivered it well. Um, I definitely think sky is going to disagree with quite much what she said, but, um, no doubt. Um, I think it will change some people's minds. She is being hailed, uh, by the media who is left by the way. She is being hailed by the media this morning as, uh, doing really, really well last night. Uh, Cut four. I love those hockey moms. You know, they say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull, lipstick. Goes up there and goes the joke route a little bit, having a little fun. She had quite a few zingers last night. Like, whoever wrote that speech? You know, you realize that most of the country calls us soccer moms, not hockey moms. She's from Alaska. Hockey mom. It's unrelatable. Yeah, we don't understand what you mean. That's right. Cut five. I guess a small mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have abilities. This is her talking about the media's criticism of her. Cut six. I've learned quickly these last few days that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone. Those reporters and commentators.
I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I'm going to Washington to serve them. Sarah on Barack Obama. Cut seven. And now I've noticed a pattern with our opponent, and maybe you have too. We've all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers, and there is much to like and admire about our opponents. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that... This is a man who has authored two memoirs, but not a single major law or even a reform. Don't resonate with anyone. Cut eight. ...who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting and never use the word victory except when he's talking about his own campaign. When the cloud of rhetoric has passed. When the roar of the crowd fades away. When the stadium lights go out.
and those styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot. What happens? What exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? Yeah, she was a little attack dog last night. She was going after it. Yeah, yeah. Well, there you go. Look at that. So, Skye? Yes. Skye, by the way, is a liberal Democrat. I sure am. And what were your thoughts on the Republican National Convention? I think, well, in regards to Sarah Palin, there's no doubt about it. She has a great stage presence. She's a great speaker. You know, she definitely hit on the whole family. I'm a mom. I'm trying to relate to you thing, which I think is smart.
But pretty much besides that, I felt the whole tone of the convention last night was very negative. A lot of attack, not a lot of talk about. Isn't that exactly what Joe Biden did? You know, to be honest, I didn't see Biden's speech. That was one of the speeches I didn't see. But what I took away from the Democratic National Convention was, of course, there was bashing. I mean, there's always bashing on both sides. But I felt more of a positive like. hey, this is what we're going to do if we get into office. Whereas with the Republicans, I didn't hear much of that. I heard more attack, attack, attack versus, hey, this is what we want to do in a positive way. And, you know, of course, I didn't care for that. Yeah, I don't like that. You know me. I just want to hear about what you're going to do and all that stuff. Now, in fairness, I don't necessarily feel that, The Democrats talk about what they're going to do. I agree with you. I don't hear as much attack coming from the Democrats. I hear that slick Obama hyperbole. I hear the...
Stuff that sounds like cotton candy in my ears. It sounds and feels so good. It's so inspiring. But it doesn't, you know, I mean. I remember specifics about creating 5 million jobs and green technology. I remember a lot of specifics about them attacking. You know, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden went after McCain with full force. You know, talking about how, you know, it's more of the same. McCain is like a Bush clone. I mean, it was a lot of attacks on their parts. Yeah. I mean. You're going to hear. Listen, there's going to be equal doses of everything from both sides. But I personally think that the Republicans are going to have a long road in this one. You know, there have been years past where I've said, this is going to be a cakewalk, I bet. Well, once those debates come, it's going to be tough. You know, obviously. Dude, I'm telling you, with that, I'm going to be watching, man. I'm going to be watching that. But the polls right now are dead even. You know, you look at the polls and they are at a dead heat right now. And in fact, I saw a poll yesterday on the news that said, you know, when they were asking the different parties, are you excited about your candidate? It was like 76% was excited about Barack. And only like 26% were excited about McCain from the Republican side. But when they added Palin to the ticket.
It jumped. It, like, doubled. Really? She was, like, the celebrity last night. Like, I watched the CNN coverage. And they had a little ticker at the bottom counting down to her speech. And pretty much, my opinion, everybody there was so disrespectful to pretty much everybody speaking except for Sarah Palin. Like, I mean, the whole crowd was talking when other people were up there talking. Like, it was so distracting because they weren't. paying attention, you know. But then when Sarah Palin came out, it was like, woo, you know, the Rolling Stones are on. Yeah. And she brought her family and the baby's daddy was there as well. Who is the baby's daddy? He is a hockey player. Kevin Fairline, which is weird. Yeah, that's so strange that that's the deal. Yeah, some hockey kid from Alaska who, you know, grew up with the daughter and whatever. But the whole family was there. But there was this really cute moment that I saw on CNN. Sarah has, I don't know, I want to say maybe like a six-year-old, seven-year-old little girl. Right. Sarah Palin. And that little girl was holding the baby. You know, her newborn has Down syndrome. Right. And the camera's on it because it's a really cute moment. And then the little girl starts licking her hand and then putting it like.
Fixing the baby's hair. Oh, that is so funny. To the point where the baby's head is like wet with the little girl's spit. That is so funny. I'm like, okay. It was so distracting, but so cute. And how do you not look at that? How do you not look at that? Right. Yeah. 570-1053 is our phone number. Call us at the beginning and end of every show. A huge thing happening on the show today is, ladies and gentlemen, Sean Merriman will be on the show. Wow. Oh, boy. In less than an hour. We'll be talking to Sean Merriman in less than an hour. That's crazy. He's finally coming on the air. I believe it's his first radio interview since all this stuff happened. Oh, my gosh. Are you serious? No way. Pretty cool. I cannot wait to talk to Sean. I can't wait. So we'll be talking to Sean Merriman. Tomorrow is... Quite possibly the biggest day in the history of the Mikey show. Oh, yeah. Could be. Huge. I mean, we are doing the Hall of Fame broadcast tomorrow morning, urging people to come up, get the day off, do whatever you can. It's going to be ginormous tomorrow. At this time, when we're broadcasting tomorrow, we will be broadcasting live from Harrah's Rincon, staying there and hanging out this weekend.
Just partying with you, the P1s. Going to be doing a poker party tonight. Awesome! You can come down and buy into the poker party if you want. Harris Rincon. 6.30? I don't remember what the start time was. I'll have to look that up. Almost positive 6.30. I'm about 95% on that one. But you come up and you can buy into the poker party. Tomorrow morning, Hall of Fame broadcast. Tomorrow night, Boston Rob's bachelor party. And we want everybody to come out there. Now you can get, if you want to come and you don't want to drive up there and drive right back, get a package. Stay with us up there. They got a $149.99 package and a $299.99 package. Sweet. The $149.99 package includes tournament, the poker tournament tonight. This is pretty incredible. For this price, this is what you get.
You get the poker tournament tonight. Tomorrow morning, you get breakfast at the P1 Hall of Fame. And you get a room. So poker, a room, breakfast tomorrow morning at P1 Hall of Fame, which is a hot breakfast. Now, if you want to take it a step further, you get the $2.99 package. That includes everything that I just said. But it also includes VIP to Boston Rob's bachelor party and another night at Harrah's Rincon. Pretty awesome. Pretty awesome. And we'll be inducting seven people into the Mikey Show P1 Hall of Fame. That's hot. Yeah. It's going to be awesome. This is one of our inductees on the line, P1 T-Rex. Oh, yeah. What's up, T-Rex? Hey, how's it going, guys? Good. I was watching the vice president speak last night. How dare you? He is pretty hot. I want to get Eddie's opinion. That's hot. Do you think he's hot to Sean's mom? Oh, my. That's a tough question. Uh-oh. He is hot. Especially with Sean sitting right next to him.
Oh, Sean in the studio. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. T-Rex, yes. Yes, he is, T-Rex. He is sitting right here, right in front of us. Eddie, thoughts on Sarah Palin? She's gorgeous, man. She looks like Tina Fey, but hotter. And, yeah, I mean, nobody's on par with the... Don't. Certain person. Sean's mom, you can say it. Shut up, dude. No one's asking you. Listen, for those of you that have never listened before, Sean gets really upset. See, Sean's mom had Sean when she was very young. So, consequently, she is still very young. And she's pretty. Don't say my mom is tasty. She's a very pretty lady. And so, Sean, it's very, you know. He's close to her, first of all. Talk about the parfait I got. And he is, you know, very protective and I like it. So there you go. Thank you. I hate your guts. Oh, wow. Wow, that was... I hope you get rabies in the face. P1 Packers fan is on the line. Good morning, Mikey. Good morning. Hey, what's going on? Not too much.
Hey, I just wanted to let Eddie know that now that Brett Favre's moved over to the Jets, they are now creating a New York cheese head hat. Like, that doesn't even make sense. That is really stupid. What the heck? Idiot. They're not in Wisconsin. Brett is even from Wisconsin. Yeah. He's from Mississippi. That doesn't make sense. Idiot. Yeah, but now it's New York cheese. There is no New York cheese. I don't know why they would do that. That's not going to show favorably on the intelligence quotient of the New York fans. I have photos of the first prototype. That's not smart. Not smart. Not smart. Well, thank you for letting us know. No worries, man. Have a good day. You got it. P1 Art. Hey, Mikey. How are you doing? Good. What's up, dude? Hey, you know, I just want to make an observation. You know, Obama's mantra. Change, change, change. But yes, a VP, he picked a guy who's been in the Senate since 1978. Now, if you want to pick Clinton, it would be a slam dunk. It would be a great win. But I'm going McCain all the way. Were you a Democrat before that has switched to voting Republican? No, you know, McCain was like, he goes down, he's an independent guy. He votes whatever is best for the country, I believe. But Obama, he sounds good on paper when you read about his policies.
It's scary, dude. It's so freaking scary. Go online and read about his policy. I have. I have. That's why you got to vote Republican if you want to keep any money in your pocket. Yeah. All right. Hey, thank you, man. That should be our number one priority. Sky, you care. No, I'm not saying it doesn't matter. Please. But there's a lot more going on in the world, Mike, than keeping money in our pocket. But please don't say. Isn't that the number one fear of most Americans? Is what? Not having money. And when you say it like that, you make it sound like, who cares about, you know, listen, money's not really that big a deal. No, I just said, after I said, I don't think that should be our number one priority right now or our only priority in this election. Feeding our families, keeping a roof over our heads, paying for gas. You don't think that's what the biggest thing is? Yeah. I mean, I think that's the biggest thing for you. I think that's important. But equally important to me is this country is getting out of Iraq is, you know, fixing the deficit and fixing the health care system, fixing the education system. I mean, you know, alternative energy, green energy, getting off oil. How are you going to do all that if you're homeless? Well, but that's what I'm saying. These things aren't all equally important. But this guy only mentioned that one point. If you want to keep money in your pocket.
And to me, you know, putting a Democrat in office isn't going to put anyone. Keeping money in your pocket is very important, Scott. Yeah, I agree. But it's not going to, putting a Democrat in office isn't going to put anyone out on the streets, okay? Like, yeah, maybe you won't bring home as much every month, but you're not going to be on the streets. That wouldn't bother you, right, if you brought home less? Significantly less. I wouldn't like it, but by voting Democratic, I'm agreeing to that. Yes, I've already made that decision that I'm willing to give up some every month. For the betterment of the country. My brother and I made a bet. What? Well, he really believes in Barack Obama. And Barack Obama wants to have a universal health care system. And my brother and I made a bet. I said, not going to happen. Because I believe he'll be elected. I said, Mark, I will make you a bet that in the four years that he's in there, by the end of that four years, we will not have universal health care. And my brother goes, you're on. How much? I said, five bucks. He goes, all right, you're on. Five bucks. And we're talking about it more and more. And towards the end of the conversation, he said, I'll tell you what. If it's not in there, it's going to be so close to being, you know, because that takes a while. I said, Mark, I'll tell you what. I said, tell you what. Give me another four. Let's reelect him. Let's say it's eight years. By the end of that eight years, the United States will not have universal health care. That's not going to happen.
might have is small augmentations that give the appearance of change. C-H-A-N-G-E. Change? All right. We may have the appearance of change, but we'll see, we'll see. He is, my brother feels so strongly about Barack Obama. He says, you gotta go watch the video, Mike. Go watch the video. Come on. 35253 is our text number. Our phone number is 570-1053. Love to hear from you. What's on your mind today? Sean Merriman's going to be on the show. Food Network's Alton Brown will be on the show today. We did this great thing, man. We did this thing where we did the soundtrack of our lives. What I'm talking about here is like, what would be the song for the opening credits of your movie? If there's a movie and it was your movie,
What's going to be the opening credits? What's going to be the kissing scene? What's going to be like the romantic, you know, walking hand in hand with the girl scene, you know? And if you've never listened to the Mikey Show, this is something you're going to want to hear because it will really explain to you who we are. Ashley's eating competition is today. Ashley will be eating bananas. Should be great. And more audio from the Republican National Convention. Jerry Seinfeld in the stand-up spotlight. I have three. I like to go in the greeting card stores. I think they're interesting because they kind of, greeting cards really reflect, you know, what people are saying to each other. The style of the greeting cards, the communications. There's a section now in every greeting card store I've been in lately where they have greeting cards with no printing on the inside, though. I mean, this is a comment. No words, no message, nothing. It's like Hallmark is saying, hey, we don't know what to tell her. You think of something, pal. For 65 cents, I don't want to get involved.
I don't know what you're doing over there. Then they have those greeting cards with the couples on the front. They photograph them, you know, these hazy focused people. They're always having picnics. There's always a tree, a pond. Who are these people? I don't know them. I don't want them on my card either. What am I going to write inside there anyway? Here's another couple having a better relationship than us. There is no right now. It's pretty simple. You're the target now. You're going to die. 417 admitted without parents in theaters everywhere tomorrow. What is your name, please? This is Jesse. Jesse. I have an AIS story. Okay, so my little brother and my mom are on insurance together, and he's 17. So, of course, he's already expensive. Well, him and his little tiny Nissan Sentra, it got totaled against hitting an excursion. And so, therefore, her insurance shocks this guy. And she got prorated, and it, like, tripled her insurance and everything.
So she was tripping out, and she wanted to just cut him off and not let him drive. So I told her to call AIS because, like, I always hear about them. I'm like, they could probably help you. She called. It's a $2,700 cut. Like, they're like, yeah, we understand. 17-year-olds, they, like, don't pay attention on the road. Yeah. So she was, like, $2,700 a year cut off her insurance. I'm on AIS insurance, and they didn't know who I was. In fact, AIS made me call them without them knowing who I was. And I saved $1,600 a year by switching to AIS. So if you're listening right now and you have auto insurance and all of you do, I'm telling you, you're crazy if you don't switch to AIS because they'll save you money. Jessie, thank you for calling. No problem. Have a good day. All right, you too. 1-800-777-4247. Or try their website, aisinsurance.com. They're right there on the state flag in big bold letters. California. A republic is a place for free thinkers, independent individuals. Maybe that's why Californians have taken a liking to Coors Banquet. We brew Coors Banquet one way, our way, with only the best two-row high country barley and only Rocky Mountain water for that smooth, full-flavored taste. We've brewed it that way since 1873, and that's not about to change anytime soon. If you're a Californian,
Perhaps you'd raise a pint to that notion. Just say, give me a banquet. Coors, the banquet beer. Coors Brewing Company, Golden, Colorado. And remember, you hold the key. Never drive drunk. Hey, San Diego, pick up some Coors Banquet for that legendary, smooth, full-flavored taste of the Rocky Mountains. You tell the doctor your taste buds are broken. It's a foggy ride in some areas this morning, so be careful. It is awfully thick in some spots out there. We've got a situation here as well. If you're heading out of San Vicente, make that San Diego Country Estates going on San Vicente to Wildcat Canyon Road. Wildcat Canyon Road completely shut down at the top there at San Vicente because of some power lines down. SDG and E-Cruise are working on that. It's going to be a long-term closure. Northbound, if you're heading on Wildcat, it is shut down at the casino. Forget the whole Wildcats Canyon Road thing. It's just going to be a problem for you. Go to the 67 and use that instead. South 15, backing up big time out of Escondido already off the 78th of your Rancho Parkway. Northbound 15 is also seeing some heavy traffic coming off the 8th freeway through Murphy Canyon up towards Arrow Drive. And the 805 northbound has a minor delay through North Park. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Mikey Show. Hey. Hey. I never, ever get through, and I'm up early enough today to finally get through. I wanted to tell Mikey about Sleep Train. I got a deal there that will beat anything I've ever heard on the radio, ever. You're the best. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, dude. Sleep Train's great. What did you get? What kind of mattress? Okay, Simmons Beauty Rest. Isn't that what you have, Sky? Yeah, I think so. Yeah? Simmons Beauty Rest. It was a $6,000 mattress they gave to me for half price. Whoa. That's awesome. And they threw in pillows.
A sheet set, a bed frame, and a mattress pad. Word. What? For free. That's the way it goes at Sleep Train. That's true. Oh, I bet it's so freaking comfortable. Like a cloud. Oh, I want it. But yeah, it's a Simmons Beautyrest. They even broke down the difference between the best ones and the lower end ones. And I guess the only thing better is what you got is a Stearns and Foster. I love it. California King Ultra Soft. It was $59.95. They gave it to me for $29.95 and gave me everything I just said free. Everything. A 300-thread count sheet set for free. You're awesome. Thank you for calling. Okay. You're listening to The Very Hilarious Mikey Show featuring Mikey. I don't run anywhere. I shanter. Eddie. I'm clearly the best. Sky. I never, ever spend money. Sean. I am. Very susceptible to supernatural phenomena. Boston Rob. I'm so athletic, man. And Ashley. I do have a lot of best friends, yeah. On Rock 105.3. It is 6.43. MTV announced that Britney Spears will open the VMAs on Sunday, but she will not be performing.
The Padres lost their ninth straight on the road, losing to the Dodgers 6-4, blah, blah, blah, blah. No, that's not very good. That doesn't sound very incorrect. Broken record. Worst team in baseball. Oh, wait. I was hoping that you would have something more encouraging to say there. They're probably not going to win another game all year. Okay. It's definitely not the kind of encouragement I was looking forward to hearing. Maybe when Jake Peavy pitches. Maybe not even. Oh, no. That is not good at all. Sorry. Not at all. Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. It is the Mikey Show. 570-1053 is our phone number. Call us at the beginning and end of every show. Mikey Show. Uh-oh. Hello? Mikey Show. Hey, Mikey. What's up, dude? Can I talk to Rob? I got a little something for him. What? I want to talk to Rob. Yeah, you're on the air, bro. Rob's here. Can I talk to him off the air? Rob, what do you suppose that's all about? Either Rob or Eddie. Either one. I got something.
Eddie, what's your boy doing here? What is this? What do you think is going on with this? It's something that I got from my vacation, a little town that I visited. I think they might. You think they might what? They might like what I got them. I got them a little souvenir from the town that I visited. What town did you visit? Hamburg, New York. And is this a ham joke? Is it about ham? Take a guess, Mike. I got an old lady sweatshirt, a hat, and a t-shirt. That's fantastic. And they say Amber USA on them. I love it. Well, you got to give that to Eddie in Boston, Rob. Yeah, they want them to fight over it, so. There you go. I was going to ask to see if they wanted to do like paper rock scissors for the hat. I like it. I'm a big fan of ham. Yeah, bring it down here. Yeah, dude. All right. All right, thanks.
Thank you. Mikey Show. Hi, I was wondering if they're still doing comments. Yes, yes, you're on the air. Go ahead. I'm just taking phone calls. You can call in 570-1053. Go ahead, sir. Yeah, I was just making a comment last night about the Republican convention and how Giuliani kept making comments about how Obama kept dogging Obama for not talking anything about the 9-11. Cussed. No more phone calls. Typical Democrat. No, actually, I believe he was a Republican. He wasn't. He was a Republican. No, he wasn't. He said that Giuliani was on talking all that S. Yeah, about Obama. And he's not participating in 9-11. Yeah. I think he was trying to slam Obama. You think he sounded happy about it? I don't know. I thought he was trying to slam Obama there. Oh, you and your left politics. Come on. What is that? He's upset that Obama was getting slammed. Yeah. Come on. Yes, he was. Can we get a Republican on the air so we can get a little...
Decency. Thank you. Decency. Don't have to hit the button on the whacked out Democrat. He wasn't. No, he was mad because the Republicans were slamming Obama. No, Ashley, you heard it right. I honestly thought he was a Republican. Yeah, you heard it right. And then he dropped the S-bomb and then they claimed he's a Democrat. How is a guy upset that they're slamming Obama a Republican? He didn't say he was upset. He was clearly upset. Yeah, he was crying. Yeah! Wow, you got me there. I don't even know what to do now. I don't even know what to do now. Oh, my God. Oh, my goodness. How about stop cursing? Dude, are you there? Yeah, I'm here. What are you, Republican or Democrat? I'm actually more like an independent. How dare you? We're both right. Yeah, we're both right. You're scared to say you're a Republican. You're scared to be against the boys. Let me ask you a question. Were you upset that they were slamming Obama? Yeah. Okay, exactly. Nope, nope, that's not it. Thank you. Apologize to us. Apologize. I will not. I will not apologize. He just said it. There's your girl getting it. He's lying. There's your girl getting it. Mike, why can't you ever admit it? Don't blame it on me. I'm a lot of an opinion. It's not an opinion. He just said it. He was mad because they were slamming Obama. He's lying now.
After hearing you guys. No. I think he is, too. I think you made him recoil. He's mad. He scared him because he doesn't want to be not a part of the boys club. Eddie, is this what happens? It's crazy, man. It's crazy. Is this what happens? Duh. Duh. Whatever. Why were you mad that they were slamming Obama? Just because I don't understand, like, why they keep bringing up stuff like 9-11 and how the fact that it's been seven years, you know? It's like it's about time we move past that when we get on that, you know? Ashley's so upset that you're talking right now. Ashley's so upset that you are proving my point. She's in there. I'm breathing. That's right. You're breathing? Wait. Well said. Oh, my gosh. Hang her on a door at Christmas. Stop it. She's breathing. Stop breathing. Stop breathing. Hey, thank you for the call. No problem, man. I really appreciated your call.
Harrah's yet. I am so stoked about your call. I want to go to Harrah's and sit by the pool. Why is this guy so combative this morning? Somebody kicked my day off on the wrong foot. Okay. Let's listen to Rudolph Giuliani. Cut to. He's never run a city. He's never run a state. He's never run a business. He's never run a military unit. He's never had to lead people in crisis. President of the United States in at least the last 100 years. A statement of fact. Barack Obama has never led anything. Nothing. Nada. There you go. He led at Madno 4 one time. I heard it. And he's run a marathon. That's right. Successfully. Successfully. Thank you, guys. That's right. Equal opportunity. Thank you. P1 Rice Man is on the line. Rice Man? Rice Man, are you there? That might be our fault because I can't hear anything. Rice Drink. That's right. Or Chata. P1 Quimby is on the line. Oh, hey, man. Hey, man. Oh, hi, guys. What's going on?
Not much. I'm really excited for tonight. Yeah, you are. I'm really, really, really stoked. That's right. And I heard a little rumor. What is it? Bring your panda suits and your shower heads. After party is in Sean's room. That's the truth. That's a true rumor. It's not a rumor. It's true. Yeah, that is a fact. I've seen the invite. Yep, I have too. They wonder why I hate every last one of them. Sean, why would you say something like that? I thought that was a true statement. I read it. As if I didn't like it before, I really don't like it. That is your horniness talking, Sean. Actually, it's not. I mean, curry party in your room? Forget about it. It's all the bamboo drink. Yeah, he's all hopped up on bamboo. Bamboo rice wine. Bamboo wine. So they take bamboo and they ferment it. Sweet bamboo wine. Sweet bamboo wine. Whatever. Quimby, thank you for the call. Well, hey, I'll be in my panda suit. Thank you. See you there. You're hilarious. Do it. P1 Rubber Duck is on the line. Hey, Mikey. Hey.
Morning, guys. Hey, I was going to want to ask Sean a question if he saw America's Next Top Model last night. Sean, did you watch? No, I was at Mike's last night. I wasn't able to get to my DVR. A-N-T-M. Was it good? Because they had a transvestite on last night. Yeah. Really? Yeah, and the girls were doing it. Oh, that's right. I heard about that, that this year on America's Top Model, one of the chicks is a dude. Well, transvestite. The dude looks like a lady. I was thinking that maybe, you know, Sean can put his furry suit on and try out. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Didn't I see that one? No. I didn't either. Now you're a transvestite. I didn't see it. I didn't see that. Don't point at me, you ass. You're a transvestite. Oh, no. I'm not a transvestite. He's not a transvestite. He's not a transvestite. He's not a transvestite. He's not a transvestite. Our text number is 35253.

Westbound 94 also slow and go from College Avenue to the 805 freeway as you hop on that northbound 805 there. The 805 itself over the South Bay, very tough here. Coming up from almost H Street all the way up towards Murray Ridge now coming over Mission Valley. And a big situation for people coming out of San Diego Country Estates this morning. Wildcat Canyon Road shut down completely in both directions. From San Vicente Road down to Barona Casino, you're going to have to access the 67 instead. And because of that, that's already being impacted. That's a very tough ride. A lot of people on that 67 trying to get out of that area. But 24-hour, make that time. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 4053. The Cricket Wireless Studios. Be late with a girl, too. San Diego's Rock. The Mikey Show's on. Featuring Mikey. I'm 36 years old.
I have a sensitivity to sugar. I'm dumb. I can't be a doctor. You are a doctor. Just because I like to be sensitive of other people's feelings. But it doesn't do any good. Sean. I'm tipping. Boston Rob. Everybody enjoys a good thumbs up once in a while. That's right. And Ashley. I can't. I'm really bad at describing things. On Rock 105.3. It's a Mikey show. It is... 7-17. Actress Mackenzie Phillips is back in rehab and has been charged with two felonies for her arrest for having heroin and cocaine at LAX. The first time instant replay was used last night in baseball on an A-Rod home run. Wow, there you go. It has been a long time coming, folks. We have been waiting a long time to talk to them. This is the Bud Light Sean Merriman Report. I'll tell you what.
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this. In his first radio interview, Sean Merriman is on the line. Yeah, he is. Hey, how you doing? Sean, how are you, man? I'm doing pretty good. Long time no talk. So what's been going on? Anything busy? Yeah. Hey, listen, man. The news has been insane. Rumors have been insane. And I want to clear up so much stuff this morning. But I think the best way to do it is to go back, to start from the beginning, because the biggest thing out there right now is your knee. And so let's go back to the beginning and talk about, somebody called in last week and they said, hey man, do you think that this injury to Sean Merriman's knee could have happened on that cheap shot in Tennessee that was such a big topic last year? So I wanted to ask you and clear it up. That's exactly when it happened, last December.
So it was your knee injury did happen during the cheap shot that you took against the Tennessee Titans. Right, right. Now, how are you sure that that was the moment? Because I left the game. That's right. Okay. Because it hurt. Because it hurt. We were kind of unstable as soon as it happened, so I think I will probably know. Okay, okay. So that happens. And do you immediately get the knee checked and you figure out what's going on at that point? Yeah, and then they told me what happened and I missed the game after that, which was Detroit, and I was back on the field for Denver. Okay. Now, exactly what ligaments do you have damage to? Well, I was torn PCL and a sprain, which is partially torn, really, LCL. Okay. And that's been the case since last December. Okay. And you knew since last December that those were the two ligaments that were injured. Now, at that point, Sean, why do you not go in to have some sort of surgery for it? It's not a cut and dry kind of thing. It's really how much I can deal with and when I have it and how much damage it really was. And nobody saw it as being, including myself, a big deal at the time. And I was able to play through it. I played the last six games and plus the Pro Bowl.
Okay, so when you say down the road, you mean once minicamps started and you started getting back into action. Right, exactly. It's pretty bad. Not as bad now as it was when I first injured it, but it got a lot better along with my strength. So you saw, is this true, did you see four different doctors about it, specialists? Right, right, I did. Did four specialists tell you they don't think it's a good idea to play on it? No, not at all. They all gave me the option, told me what I needed to do, and if I wanted to play, this is what I need to do. And it's all really about what I can deal with. You know, you send pictures, MRIs across the country, they believe that you can't play on it until they see you. You know, they see you, and that's the reason why you got to go see these guys, because you've seen them personally tell you a different opinion than what they would if they talked to you from across the country. What do you need to do in order to strengthen that thing? Just keep rehabbing it, keeping things strong, keeping healthy, ice it, and keep stretching. You know, and outside of that, it's really about how much can you deal with. Is there, there is a surgery, there's not a surgery, is there anything that you could do surgically to improve this?
Surgically, yeah, but that would mean it cost me a six-month deal. Okay. Now, if I understand correctly, you're going to go back and you're going to play this season. Now, let's say, hypothetically, you are able to play well throughout the entire season. As soon as the season is over for the San Diego Chargers, which hopefully is after a Super Bowl victory, as soon as the season is over, I'm assuming your plan is, okay, I do need to have surgery. Right, right. I mean, it's something I've got to definitely get done. It's just a matter of when I want to get it done and what can I do to keep on playing. Okay. But the things I'm learning this morning that are a little different is that up until this point in talking to you, what I had heard was that specialists had told you, don't play on this. I mean, that's impossible. If anybody told me not to play on it, I mean, I wouldn't go against their will. Right. And, you know, I haven't really said anything about it.
I still don't even really want to talk about them because it's not a big deal. You know, it's something that's out there. It's not too much improvement that can happen. You know, I just let the rumors go and let people talk, you know, because if they talk to any one of these doctors, it's not possible for them to tell me, no, you got to get surgery right now. And I'm going to go in and walk and say, no, I'm going to play. You know, even though that you went to school with 10 or 15 extra years and you telling me that I need surgery right now, I'm going to go out here and play. That's not the case. Right. How does the knee feel right at this second? It feels pretty good. I mean, I've spent a lot of time getting stronger, a lot of time working on stability and keeping healthy. Well, I'll tell you what. This is so refreshing to be able to have you on the phone and hear some stuff. Eddie. Yeah, Sean, I mean, are you surprised that, like, a majority of the people reacted in kind of a negative way to you wanting to play this season? Yeah, I just didn't understand. But, you know, sometimes you got to do what you think is best for you. And if I feel like I can play, then, you know, people have to deal with that. And instead of criticizing any of the support. What's the craziest reason you heard for you coming back? Contract. Contract stuff. I mean, people don't realize I get paid whether I sit out now or after Super Bowl. It doesn't matter. I mean, that's not the problem.
Yeah, I think definitely the criticism was based on the thought that I had, which was that people had told you don't play on it and you were deciding to do so anyway. But that's being cleared up right now. I had no idea. You know, things are going to be said. Actually, the funniest thing that happened while I was out is, you know, because I like to bowl sometimes. I try to go bowling once a week or once every other week. And, you know, I got some people that got on the radio and said, you know, Sean's out here bowling. That's right. I'm like, hold on, man. I'm not handicapped. My knee is hurting, but I'm not in the wheelchair. Hey, Sean, you're about three questions ahead of me. That was coming up about three questions from now. Yeah, we had P1s that called in and said, hey, man, Sean was out at P1 Bowl at this Poway bowling place last night, and we're going, wait a minute. How would he be out there on this hurt and injured knee if he, you know, why would he be doing that? Okay, well, what I'm finding out, which is another question I have for you, but what I'm finding out now is that, hey, listen, it's the equivalent of a sore knee. It's not anything that is going to end my career right now. And doctors have told me it's up to you whether or not you're going to play on it. I already have played on it. I played on it last season.
I played on it for the last six games of the year. Right. Okay. Well, a lot of that's being cleared up. But that's what my next question is, Sean. Why did it take until September 4th for you to put all of this stuff to bed and put it to rest? You could have come on the air two weeks ago and said, guys, mellow out, everybody. I'm fine. I played the last six games of the season on this. Four specialists have told me it's up to me. Why wait until now to let everybody know? As soon as I say something, there's something else that will come up. So you kind of, you know, just do what you think is best. I don't like even really talking about it. I kind of, like, despise the whole thing because I made a decision. I'm going with it. And, you know, hopefully that people just pray and hope the best for me. And that's it. Yeah. Well, listen, I get it. I get it. I think that now it's going to be a lot easier to do that. I think that now that you're letting everybody know, hey, here's the deal. There's no big whoop.
Of course I'll get it right now, but I'm not back in two months. If I get it done, it's a six-month deal, and that means I miss the season. So I've got to do what's best for me, and if I feel like I can play, I'm going to go play. What's the reaction of the team? You know, I've been getting support from all my teammates, and they all said they support me regardless of what I want to do, or they're just happy that I'm playing. Obviously, they want what's best for me, but at the same time, they understand why I'm playing. Gotcha. Any animosity towards that? Do you think back on that Tennessee game and go, I can't believe that dude did that to me? No, not really because it's a game of football, and I've had other things happen. I've seen a bunch of stuff, and it was just unfortunate that the situation I got put in. Yeah. All right, let's change the topic and talk about Charger football and how you feel about this season because I'm telling you, man, expectations are high. The team is so star-studded.
How are you feeling going into this season? Football season starts tonight. We feel very good. They spend a lot of time this offseason together in all the OCSs and mini camps and just getting everybody on the same page. Our main goal coming into this year is not thinking about the Super Bowl, not thinking about the playoffs. Think about the Carolina Panthers. It's real easy for people from the outside looking in and saying, wow, these guys got all this talent and all these players on the team. they should win the Super Bowl. I mean, that's what kind of the one and three saw last year because we've seen what we had, so we kind of took for granted, you know, we're not doing that this year. Mm-hmm. So the attitude has changed from, hey, we're going to go to the Super Bowl, we're going to get in the playoffs, to let's just deal with it one game at a time. Right, exactly. That's cool. So how do you think you match up against the Panthers? Well, they're a very physical team, man, and, you know, they remind me of... maybe a Tennessee or maybe somebody who's a very physical team. They're going to run the ball and they're going to do certain things, and that's what they're good at. So how long does it take for you guys in the beginning of the season? You get one week during the season. How long have you been looking at the Carolina Panthers? For a couple weeks now. When you're playing those preseason games, the starters in some of those games might get 10 plays, which really could be a series of football depending on how the game goes.
You kind of got to start preparing for those guys early and just watch as much film as possible. Hey, Sean, is there a rookie this year on the Chargers squad that has kind of excited you that you go, man, you got to watch this guy? A few guys and two on Kayson and then Hester, the running back. I like both of those guys a whole lot. You're seeing a lot of promise in these guys. Right. That's cool, man. Well, Sean, listen. I know that this is not the easiest thing for you to do. And I know that during the course of the conversation, maybe your blood pressure gets raised a little bit. And I don't blame you. And I understand that you're a young man. And but I just want to tell you, man, this is good. This is all good. All this stuff puts a lot of talk to rest. You coming on and sharing this stuff puts a lot of things to rest. It just does. And it's much easier to move on. once it's out there. And it sounds like it's not that big a deal. It's not that big a deal. You know, sometimes the business part of it and the media part of it and everything gets tangled up into what this game really is, and it's football. I mean, it's not so hard to believe that somebody actually went out to want to go out there and play football. And that's what I love to do. That's what I've been doing since I was 10 years old. And to miss a season, miss any time at all, I mean, would...
I mean, it would hurt. I mean, it would hurt to miss any time in football. So, you know, I'm doing what I need to do to play the game. And everybody who's supported and, you know, just pray for me to go out there and be healthy. I appreciate it. And everybody who has something bad to say about us, something negative to say, that's too bad, you know. We all here to win games, period. Tell them, suck it. I wouldn't say that much, but, you know. I'll say it for you, Sean. Well, listen. Sean, I appreciate it. And I am looking forward to this season and you coming on the air. And I'll tell you what, man, there's nothing like being able to get that perspective as a fan, to be able to get the perspective of a guy that just played the game yesterday and was on the field. There is nothing in the world that compares to that experience of being able to be in the game like you are and hear it firsthand. So as usual, Sean, I appreciate it, man. And thank you for coming on, dude. No problem. No problem. We'll talk to you next week, right? We'll talk to you next week. Stay healthy, buddy. All right, man. We'll talk to you soon. See you. Excuse me? What happened? So I guess this happened over the weekend, but they just recently released the details about it. But some dude was on the Ninja roller coaster. There's a roller coaster called the Ninja? Didn't even know. All I knew was the Colossus. And he lost his hat on the ride, which happens. So he decided it would be a good idea to climb over two security fences after he got off the ride and try and retrieve the hat. And then the ninja comes by and smacks the dude in the noggin. Oh, God. And he was last check in critical condition after being knocked unconscious by the roller coaster. Why would anybody think that's a good idea? It's just a hat, bro. It's not a good idea. No. You can get another one. It's not. Yeah. It's not. It's not a good idea. Oh. Let's see. Hurricane Ike is up to category four. Yeah, Ike is out of control. But again, I have to look at my weather models in order to be able to tell you for sure. My fellow nerds and I will retire to the nerdery with our calculators. He was talking about this story earlier. If you haven't heard. heard it it's one of the craziest things eddie tell us about rudy johnson well rudy johnson was cut by the bangles last week signed with the lions and on his first day he arrived with his luggage put it in the locker room and probably went and did some stuff maybe with the media unfortunately because they signed rudy johnson their incumbent running back tatum bell was released he was cut So Tatum was obviously a little hurt, a little upset, and was kind of mad that Rudy came in and stole his job. So he stole his luggage. He stole Rudy Johnson's luggage. That's great! Tatum Bell stole his luggage. That is correct. Okay, okay. How do we know that he stole the luggage? There's security footage of it.
Oh, my gosh. That is horrible. Oh, wow. That is horrible. Okay. To be honest, the luggage was returned to Rudy. Oh, well, then no harm. Empty. Oh, wait, empty. His clothes, $200 in cash, and his wallet with credit cards, all gone. I mean, that's a crime. That is true. It is a crime. Rudy said he's not going to involve authorities. The dude stole his wallet. Whatever. He got his job. He says, hey, listen, he needed it more than I did. Canceled his credit cards. Canceled his credit. When Blunder was let go and I came in, he stole my lunch. That's right. He would have done that anyway. Week straight. I think it took mine too. It's weird, yeah, because he took mine at the same time when he did that. That's really a strange thing why that would happen. Sky, what is, speaking of Blunder, Blunder has a magazine called Blunder Magazine, and they recently put out their most overrated list, and so... Overrated list? That's so overrated.
So, Skye, what does Blunder say in Blunder Magazine about this? Yeah, well, so, of course, you know, the reason this info is out right now is because they're trying to get people to obviously buy their magazine. So they haven't released the whole list, but they've given you a select fee. The FCC's bad words. Yes. Very overrated. Overrated. Okay, so. Dieting, I believe, is another one. Totally. Ouch. Totally. Blender magazine. So anyway, so some of the ones they released are number 14 of the most overrated people, places, and things in America. Number 14, Pink Floyd. I like that. Extremely overrated. I agree. Number 12. Concert encores, they believe, are overrated and just an excuse for the band to go backstage and get drunk and do drugs. Sorry. I wouldn't know because I'm never there by the time that an encore is taking place. Yeah, and they say as the audience stands and wonders, should we go to our car? Should we wait? Is it really over? What do we do? I'm asleep by that time. By the time they're doing the encore, I've been home for an hour.
Number seven of their most overrated things, the Grammys. They say watching the Grammy Awards is like watching paint dry on Celine Dion's forehead. That's true. That's not that. That would be kind of interesting. That would be fun. I think that would be totally interesting. That would probably be more fun, yeah. It should be a new sitcom. And they did announce what they believe is their number one most overrated thing. Everybody put on your bulletproof vest. is the most overrated thing ever. Well, let me tell you. Wow. Tupac is a big deal. Like, if you go to New York City as a tourist and you're walking through Times Square, they have all of these street vendors and they're selling all this Tupac stuff. Really? Yeah. Oh, yeah. In other countries. When you go to other countries, kids are walking around with Tupac t-shirts on. It's a real big deal, Tupac. Yeah. And I don't understand. I think there's going to be a big part of, you know, a community that is not going to be happy with that list. Let's see. The movie company MGM is going to remake the movie Poltergeist. Mike. Dude. What the? They're going to remake it. Why would you do that? It's too soon anyway. 82? 81? 81. Yeah.
Well, whenever something is a big hit, I'm sure it's always talked about. This one made it through all the little filters and they're finally going to do it. But the problem, here's the problem with remaking Poltergeist. Poltergeist was a Steven Spielberg movie. I think you're going to have a hard time doing Steven Spielberg movies, remaking them. It was directed by Tobey Hooper, but it wasn't really directed by Tobey Hooper. They'll make it all effects. And like, you know, the pool scene, which was so awful, like they'll make the skeletons like come alive. Right, right, right. Stupid stuff like that. They will. Well, they haven't announced the cast yet or a release date, but they have announced who the director is going to be. Like the clown will be played by Tim Allen. Yes. That's so true. That's so true. The director is going to be the same guy who did House of Sand and Fog. It's going to be that.
Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. It's going to be CG. It's going to be a lot of CG. It's terrible. Did anybody ever see that? House of Sand and Fog. It got great. You saw it, Eddie? I saw it. It's like a real heavy drama, wasn't it? Yeah. It wasn't scary. To me, it doesn't scream. A guy who's all about CG and all that stuff. Is that what it's called? CGI? Yeah. Whatever. So we'll see. We'll see. There's an AOL pull out on summer movies. Iron Man. Okay, hold on. Let me get it. Yeah! Let's get it. Okay. Iron Man. Who do you think was voted? Iron Man. You just stopped saying Iron Man. Iron Man. Okay, what was the funniest comedy movie of the summer? Iron Man. That was the funniest comedy? Well, that's... Funniest comedy. I... That won an Academy Award, so... That was last year. That was last. No, of this summer. Super bad. Dumb and Dumber? Oh, gosh. Step Brothers. Yeah, that's what I said. Is that a real answer? The Will Ferrell movie? Oh, the Pineapple Bomb. Pineapple. Pineapple Express was number two with 24% of the vote. It's obvious. Whatever it is, it's real obvious, but we can't think of it. What is it, Skye?
Tropic Thunder was voted the funniest comedy of the summer. Hilarious. Best chick flick of the summer? The Traveling... Sex and the City. It's called Sex and the City, Eddie. Sex and the Dumb Dumb, is that what you say? Yeah. Okay, let's see. This one movie got Best Sequel, Best Superhero Movie, Best Action Sequence, and Movie Most Worth Your Cash. Iron Man! Dark Knight. And then finally, who was the summer's best villain? Iron Man. Hello? Why so serious? With 95% of the vote. Jeff Bridges in Iron Man. Yes. Will you stop saying Iron Man? Hold on. Abomination for the Hulk. With 95% of the vote, Heath Ledger's Joker was the best summer villain. Well, of course it was. I don't know about that. Of course. Eddie says no. That he's against it. Yeah, he just wants Iron Man. Football's back tonight, ladies and gentlemen. Uh-oh. Eddie, who's playing tonight? Giants and Redskins. Yeah, dog. NBC. That's right. We're going to be talking to Alton Brown here. I guess not a sports fan. I think you would probably be right. I bet I would be right. Let's see. Alton Brown. Sir. How are you? I'm good. How are you?
I'm good. I have something good to report to you. What's that? I don't know that you'll really care, but you were sort of the, you're the guy that got it all kicked off for me. Last time we talked. What did I kick off? What did I put in motion? Well, last time we talked, I was telling you I was a big fan of the TV show Good Eats that you do. And I really love that hot rod painted KitchenAid that you have. And I was wondering, I was asking, where'd you get that thing? Where'd that thing come from? And then I was very disappointed because you said, well, you can't buy it. You got to go get one done. You got to take it to like an auto body shop and have it painted. Yeah. Well, I did. That's right. You actually took it to a body shop and I bet they didn't even flinch, did they? Nope. Took it to a, it was a white KitchenAid, took it to a body shop. And I got to tell you, man, it looks phenomenal. It looks amazing. Flames or stripes? What'd you do? Flames. It looks cool, man. It's black, and it's got just like orange, yellow, blue flames, and it looks just really cool. So I have you to thank for that. Doing my next one like a classic fighter plane with, you know, the eyes and everything. That's cool. That's very cool. I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you. How much did that set you back? You know what? The guy said, the guy was a listener, and he was a fan of the show.
And I never even met the guy. It was actually a friend of mine says, hey, listen, I got a friend. He works for Auto Body Shop. And I was telling him about your conversation with Elton Brown. And he would like to do this. And I said, he said, as long as he can take pictures and show people the work that he did. And I said, are you kidding? Absolutely. And so, yeah. entire new realm, you know, having all your kitchen appliances painted. Why not? It looks cool. I have a blender that's made to look like Jimmy Walker. It's so awesome. It's so awesome. And it says Dynamite. See, there you go. For your next show. So I saw the promo for it the other day. Alton's got a new show called Feasting on Waves on the Food Network. And what's it all about, Alton? Well, you know, the last couple of years running, we've done a summertime series, a limited series called Feasting on Asphalt, which was a motorcycle journey across country and all about the food that we encountered. And we did one that was east to west. And then last year we did one up the Mississippi River. And this year I decided, you know, I don't want people to think that it's about motorcycles because, you know, it's a way that I like to get around. But it's not about that. And I started to become really interested in the kind of the food.
Did American food really start? And I very firmly believe that it's in the Caribbean. And so we decided, okay, we'll cash in the motorcycles. Well, didn't cash in the men, just put them away. Got a couple of 50-foot catamarans and hit the Caribbean, specifically from St. Kitts up into the British Virgin Islands to try to find out the food there. So it's just like feasting on asphalt. It's on water this time. It'll be starting the scene running through the rest of September. Now, that tells me that the stuff that we traditionally think of as being very American probably isn't. Things like hamburgers and hot dogs and French fries. In American culture, we tend to grab hold of something and, you know, we didn't invent the hamburger. Well, actually, we did. We didn't invent the hamburger steak, but we did put them on it. That is American. That happened in the constituent 48 states. That's right. The French fry, not 100% invented here, but they all tend to grow. I mean, we're a young country, and we're a melting pot. When you look at what American food really is, you can look at it. And when I mean Caribbean, I mean everything from down to Venezuela. And you can see that as kind of the incubator for what American cuisine really became. So while you were filming this, what was the best thing that you ate? Your favorite? Well, that is tough. You know, and it's funny because people ask me that so often. And I usually demur and say that there was. But actually there was it by saying that I can't remove.
I can't take food out of where I had it and who I had it with. If I say that there was a meal that I thought was the best, it wasn't just because of where I was. And kind of that whole scene meant a lot to me. And it was at a very, very, very, very beachside bar on an island called Joost Van Dyke. Whoa. Family show. Yes. It's a party island. But there's a little bitty place. Can we say that word on the radio? I don't know what that was. Well, he did, Mike. He did it. Oh, my goodness. Really? And so there's this little bitty place called One Love, and it's owned by a husband and wife. And every now and then, the guy that owns the bar makes this soup, or his grandmother taught him to make, when he lived in the slums as a child. And we made this soup together, and we sat down and we ate it as the sun was going down with his family. And it was a singular experience for me, because at the beginning of the day, this guy was really kind of a Rasta guy, was extremely distrustful of me, you know, with his TV cameras.
And then we cooked with each other through the afternoon. And by the end of the day, we had become. Cool. And that was made possible because of the food. That's cool. That food has. I mean, yeah, it's great to eat and it can be tasty and all of that. But really, when it can connect people, that's for me. So I will say that this is. Our girl Sky would love some fish. No, I would not care for fish. With dumplings, right, Sky? No, thank you. I would pass. Pass on the dumplings? She would pass on the fish. What kind of person passes on dumplings? It's the fish. It's the fish thing. I would eat it. See, my wife won't eat fish either. She gets it. My wife, if it has lived any of its life in water, she passes. That's my wife. Alton, that's my wife. And it doesn't matter if it's fish, I mean, if it's lobster, shrimp, if it's been in water. Did she say it's a texture thing? Yep. It has a texture thing, and she is repulsed.
By the smell of the ocean. Yeah. She doesn't like the smell of ocean makes her kind of nauseous. My wife wants to spend all her time at the ocean. She loves to fish, but they don't have anything to do with it. She'll haul it into the boat. Elton, is there, because you're extraordinarily adventurous when it comes to trying new things, but has there been something that you've had that you would, that you go, never again? Yeah, I, you know, but I won't say that that's because it was bad. I will only say it's because it wasn't something I'm used to, you know, organs and the... body that I am just never going to take to. I've had too many years of not eating it. I'm in my 40s. I'm set in my ways. You can't plop down a fish bladder in front of me and say, wow, that's good eats. I mean, I'll eat it. I won't. You know, there's peanut butter in the world. I'm telling you, man. I will never get used to eyes. I don't care what size or shape they are. There's always going to be a little...
Something like a contact lens that gets stuck between your teeth. Okay. And generally speaking, if I put it in my mouth and it moves. That's not all right. I'm going to have a hard time with that, too. Alton Brown's got a new show. Hungry enough? Oh, no. Alton's got a show called Feasting on Waves on the Food Network that's premiering Sunday night at 10. And Alton, after all this, is Good Eat still in production? Another set on Monday. We're getting ready to cross the 200-episode line next year. Awesome! You haven't run out of stuff to make. You know, people keep asking me that, and I keep saying, you know, if it does run out, it'll only be because my imagination's burned out. It won't be because the subject is burned out. It'll be me. It'll be my fault. And, you know, it hasn't happened yet because food is, you know, I think one of the reasons that Food Network is so interesting to people is that it's...
not a well that runs dry. It is a universally interesting and very, very deep subject. And, you know, if we start saying that it's running out, it'll only be our lack of vision. How about this? You do a lot of stuff with the Iron Chef America. Yeah. Let's say that you were one of the Iron Chefs and you were competing. What ingredient, if you could fix it, it could be your ingredient, you could pick it. What ingredient would you excel at? Alton Brown. I would automatically default. Really? Default to eggs because eggs never let me down. And eggs are versatile beyond. And yet they're not very forgiving. So you have to be very, very kind of technique driven with eggs. And I'm pretty good with eggs. So I would go with eggs. That's cool. All different kinds of eggs. Quail eggs, chicken eggs, ostrich eggs. Do people, Alton, do people send you stuff, food? Do people send you food? it in the mail, but they bring it to personal events. When I do book signings and live shows, people definitely bring stuff, yeah. And do you just very politely... They'll make cookies for me or they'll have some special hot sauce that they make and they bring it to me and I gotta tell you, most of it's pretty gosh darn good. So you do try it? Heck yeah. Wow. You're a brave man. What are you gonna turn your nose up? That's... Hey, let me tell you. Let me tell you. I don't think that anyone has ever brought something to me that I didn't at least taste. That's cool. I think in my refrigerator right now, I've got at least three different containers of...
homemade jams and hot sauces and things that people have brought me. That's cool. That's cool. Alton Brown, he's the host of the new show Feasting on Waves on the Food Network. And one of my favorite personalities on the Food Network. And I really love his shows. If you've never seen him, you should start Tebowing him. Good Eats is a great show. Mileage tips presented by Chevron. How fast are you going right now? Really? That fast? So what's your hurry? Did you know that if you slowed down just a little, you'd get better mileage? It's true. If you drove 55 miles per hour on the highway instead of 65 miles per hour, you could go about 30 to 60 more miles on a tank of gas. It's like the story of the tortoise and the hare. You know, slow and steady wins the race. And that also applies to city driving. When you're stopped at a traffic light and it turns green, avoid the jackrabbit start. Don't punch the gas. It's not a race. Just accelerate smoothly and gradually. And let's face it, you'll catch up to those other cars at the next light anyway. So remember, a heavy foot equals a light gas tank. And that's another great way to get the most out of your Chevron with Tecron. Learn more mileage tips by visiting chevronwithtecron.com. Real men of genius. Battle to decide gastric prowess. The Monkey Show presents the Ashley Eating Competition. Come on, Ash. Ashley. Everything. Okay. All right, we have our competitors. Ashley has multiple beverages with her. She's a professional eater. Ashley's a professional eater. She's a world champion. We do this once a week. We've been doing it during the summer where we do these Ashley eating competitions, and the idea is that Mommy can eat, okay? She can put that. Put it away. That's right. And she is one-on-one. We've done two competitions, and she is one-on-one. She lost the Marshy competition. Yeah. Trying to eat marshmallows. She lost. She couldn't hang. She had no practice, and she did terribly. Now, last week was crackers. She killed it. What up? She killed it. She did great.
This week is bananas. Those are bigger than those. Oh, Ashley. Come on now, they're all bananas. That is a valid point. That is a valid point. Are they not? Okay, then let's do this. Divvy them up. We'll divvy them up. We'll make it fair. All right? Ash, why don't you see, yeah, why don't you pull those bananas apart and do something that makes you feel like it's a little bit more equitable. Okay, there we go. I do have to appreciate Ashley's competitor today wearing yellow. She, yeah. Oh, it's on the shoulder. Oh, no. I go out to do that on purpose, and she's like, kind of. I'm like, I knew it. Let's meet your competitor. Right up to the microphone. What is your name? Megan. Megan, how old are you? 21. How tall are you? Six foot. Yeah. Let me tell you something. Wow. She's tall. She's tall. Now, that could mean that she has strength to power this down, Ash. Yeah, I know. But she's very thin.
She's thin. She's a very thin girl. Can you eat? Well, so am I. So that's just all. Megan, let's talk to you. I don't really like bananas, but, you know, I'll deal. Okay, so. Wow. Do you like bananas? No. All right, talk to me, though. So what you're saying is. Well, it's not your thing, but like you can eat them, right? Yeah. Okay. It's kind of like me with cucumbers. Like I don't want to eat cucumbers, but I can. But I would never touch a cantaloupe. That's a rotten fruit. It's not rotten. Dude. It smells rotten. It's so gross. Cantaloupe is the most disgusting thing. I can't understand how. Yeah, but Eddie, it smells like rotten fruit. It's awful. It's good. But she can eat it. Go ahead, Ash. But, Mike, if she doesn't even really like bananas, like, I love bananas. So, one point me. Do you think that Kobayashi was, like, raised eating hot dogs? No, I mean, he's from the Orient. Yeah, dude, he's from the Orient. Eddie just said he's Oriental. He must be Oriental then. Right, Eddie? Right? That's what you're saying, Eddie? No, no, no. Well...
The deal is that you don't have to like it. You'll do fine. You'll be fine even if you don't like it. Now, Megan. Pretend it's something you like. That's right. What do you like? What's your favorite thing? Pineapple. There you go. It's like pineapple. Yummy. There you go. Ashley, she could have eaten a pineapple hole. Let me tell you something. Ashley is a competitor. Are you sure she hasn't? She's a competitor. Have you, Ash? No, I haven't. You haven't yet as of yet. As of this date. You were hungry enough. Yeah, I could. I'm starving right now. Let's do it. I'll tell you that much. Let's do it. Okay, now let's. Yeah. All right, I'm going to give you the tale of the tape. Ashley is older than her competitor. Ashley is 25. Megan is 21. Experience. Ashley is. One point me. Ashley is approximately five foot seven. Is that right? Yeah. And her competitor, six feet tall. Okay, one point her. One point her. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Bye. Ashley, let's see. Let's do it this way. I think Megan can eat a house. Ashley can eat houses that ate houses. So it's pretty tied. She's wearing yellow to match the bananas. So we're all even. Let's do it then. Here's how we're going to do this. That's a valid point, Sean.
Are you backing up, really? You should. Yeah, bananas may be flying. Yeah. You should. What's the matter, Sean? Where are they going to put the old peels? Just, like, on the counter? I'm always on the left. I'm always on the left. Get in the garbage. Get in the garbage. Get however you need to get. Help. Help. Sean, you're okay, Sean. She's not touching you. She is not touching you. She's not touching you. I know. Why are you so upset? Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. Don't get upset. Calm down. Calm down, Johnny. It's fine. Happy place. He's so upset, but he's not anywhere near him. He's sitting to the side. We're good. I would say this. Sean is at 11 o'clock. Megan's at 12 o'clock. There's going to be stuff flying everywhere. Sean is screwed. Do you remember the cracker thing? The cracker thing was crazy. Sean, you're going to be fine. There were crackers everywhere. Do you trust me? You're going to be fine. I'm not going to spit it out. You're going to be fine. All right. You get one minute. Mike, they're planning something. Hold on. Oh, God. They're planning something. Don't do something stupid, all right? What? Now, listen. We're all friends. This is going to be sexy. This is going to be sexy. Sexy? Ew. Now, they have one minute. The girls will have one minute. I'm nervous.
We're going to see how many bananas can you eat in one minute. And water is allowed. Water is allowed. Megan doesn't have water. Megan doesn't need water. Megan doesn't want water. She doesn't need water. Okay, that's all. Are you ready? I'm nervous. Holy crap, I'm nervous. Sean, do you have your 60-second timer? All right, and on your mark, get set, go. Ashley has peeled much faster, and the banana's in her mouth. Megan has half a banana in her mouth. She's peeled the complete banana and is powering it into three parts. The third part is going into Megan's mouth. Ashley is now drinking water and doesn't have the third part in. Oh, my gosh. Megan's killing it. It's in Ashley's mouth. Megan is working on two. Megan is working on her second one. She's breaking it into three parts. Ashley hasn't peeled her second one. Second part is in her mouth. Okay. You shouldn't talk to Ashley. She's just eating. Ashley, pretend it's like soft for a year. Megan. in your head, Ash. Just keep going. Megan has the second banana completely finished. She's going on her third banana. Ashley is squeezing her eyes. Ashley is gagging and shaking. Sean, do not look at Ashley. Do not look at Ashley right now. Ashley, Ashley, get that in your mouth, Ash. It just half came out of her mouth.
Stop. I can't look at her. Stop. I cannot look at... Oh! Mike! That is horrific. There's napkins right there, Ash. Oh! Oh, look at Sean. He's really upset. He's a napkin girl. I have nowhere to run, Mike. There is goop. Banana goop. Oh, my God. Spilling out of Ashley's mouth. And Sean is so upset. I don't want to be here. That was the grossest one yet. I'm serious. I don't want to be here. Oh, my gosh. Ashley's still got a little something there. How weird is it that the grossest one is the one that Sean had to be here for? Oh, that is odd. It's weird. How that worked out, huh, Mike? So weird. That was awful. For those of you that are interested. That was awful.
Look at Sean. He's so disturbed. You're disgusting. You wouldn't even know that. For those of you that are interested, Megan destroyed Ashley. Oh, please. Please. Hey, man. You weren't even close, Ash. Ash, you're getting old, man. The youth beat you today. She killed it. Sorry, girl. How many did you put down? Megan. Almost three full bananas. crazy and ashley didn't even get like honestly like honestly like honestly that sucked like really bad yeah well what was the deal what was the deal yeah why were you gagging because it was making me nauseous with all it was something about the texture of like It was mushy. I thought you loved bananas. I do love bananas, but I like to cut them up and put them in my granola and yogurt, and that was different. That was different? That was different, and it was seriously, like, the mushiness was making it hard for me to, like, freaking get them down. Lookit, Megan's not even a fan of bananas. She powered down two and three quarters. She killed it. Yeah. She did a really good job.
That was really impressive. It was. I feel really defeated right now. You should be ashamed of yourself. I feel like a piece of crap. Ash, you don't have to go that far. I do. I feel worthless. I don't know why I'm like... I should go home. Hang on a second, Ash. It's ridiculous. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. I'm really mad. Ash, all that matters is that you gave it your all, kid. You came in here and you tried your best. The thing is, I gave it my all. It was pathetic. Her all's not good enough, Mike. We put two points up on her in every way. You should have worn yellow. Oh, that must have been it. Leave her alone. That's probably why. That my blonde hair would do the trick. Ash, what would you change? I mean, if you had to do it all over again. Yeah, I don't know. Chewed faster? Like, I chewed faster. Did you? I did. She's not well right now. She really did. Let's take a time out while Ashley kind of gathers her thoughts. I mean, Ashley could have had Metallica tickets for a friend. Yeah, Megan won Metallica tickets. And now Megan gets on. That's terrible. Ashley's really kind of tearing up right now. Should have swallowed a mole. Eddie. Yeah, what the heck? Ashley, that shouldn't make you laugh. I mean, it was funny.

you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. The tough ride continues this morning. The fog is burning off as the sun's come up, but still hanging along the coastline in some spots, kind of thick. So just, you know, be careful with that. Right now, over the South Bay, you've got struggling traffic on both the 5 and the 5 northbound still backed up heavily out of Chula Vista up to National City. The 805's got it off and on up to Mesa College, then again out of Kearney Mesa with a 52. Westbound side of the 94 backed up still here as well from Kelton Road all the way to downtown. Traveling westbound on the 8th this morning. That's got plenty of brake lights here from Jackson Drive into Mission Valley. The westbound 52 is looking a little bit better, but still slow in pockets up the hill out of Santee over the summit. South 15, slow and go still out of Escondido. El Norte Parkway to Villa Rancho. Traffic off and on again out of Rancho Bernardo all the way to Poway. Your westbound 56. Plenty of brake lights here from Camino Dos Sur to the 5, and the 5 itself southbound. Pretty stacked up from La Costa all the way to Solana Beach. And Wildcat Canyon Road shut down in both directions between Barona Resort and Casino and San Vicente Road due to power lines. Folks out of San Diego Country Estates, they haven't used the 67. And that's catching up with commuters out of Ramona making the 67 very, very tough this morning. So I want to give yourself some extra time out of there. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. The Mikey Show continues.
With Mikey. I like fish tanks. Eddie. They all can't be winners. Sky. I rarely pump my own gas. Sean. I do not air slews. Boston Rob. Today, I'm not Boston Rob. I'm B-Rob the Majestical. Oh, I like it. Did you say you changed it to B-Rob the Testical? And Ashley. What do you think, I am an idiot over here? Mikey's show's on. Rock 105.3. He's working on it, Mike. We found him Lysol wipes. How is that not good enough? Well, there's a lot of area he needs to clean. Now he's overdoing everything. Doing a bit. What is he doing? What is he wiping down? Everything. Like the microphone. Hold on.
Uh-oh. First of all, the microphone was right here the whole time they were doing their thing. Right, right. So all kinds of stuff was flying everywhere. You all know that. You all saw it. Don't you think it's a little overkill? You're not going to touch a mic. Just relax. Okay. In addition to that, I saw when Eddie was walking by just now, he touched the microphone, and I think he did something to it. So I just wanted to wipe it down. What would I do to it? You thought he put something? I don't know, dude. I don't know. Go to the bathroom, not wash your hands, and then rub it on here. Why would I do that? Because you don't like me. Yeah. Oh, that is a fact. That is not a fact. He likes him. He just likes to really, really make him upset. Sean's a germaphobe. Hold on. It's really hard for Sean to be here with Eddie. I don't want it to be on my face. I got to work here, man. This is sitcom watching the two of them. Eddie will touch something like, okay, I touched it for you. It's kind of like that's the attitude. And Sean's like, no, no, no, no, no. I don't want that. I'm helping him move. That doesn't surprise me. Yeah, please. Okay. It's 835. Last night, John McCain was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for president.
Padres lost their ninth straight on the road, losing to the Dodgers 6-4. Let's make it out, baby. Hey, Ashley. Did you know you were peeling the bananas backwards? Right? Yeah, I did that on purpose. You did? Why? I was wondering. Why did you do that? Because a listener emailed me yesterday and was like, heads up, you want a banana tip, peel it backwards because there'll be less, like, banana strings, and so it'll be like... a better banana to eat. They messed you up. That was terrible advice. Not good advice. I was just trying to do the right thing. Aw. Poor Ashley. She really did it. She tried, you know? Really bad job. No. She tried. Atrocious. Like, I don't know what other words I had to try. She was doing her best. Embarrassing. Yeah, she was just outmatched. You gotta watch that video later, man. Megan was... She powered him down. Yeah. She was a stud. Killed it. Full of shame.
Don't try it at home. Well, you need to put a little message on there. Yeah. I was watching that movie Beyond the Mat documentary about pro wrestling. And one of the biggest guys ever in pro wrestling was Mick Foley. And dude used to like videotape himself as a kid. watching what he saw them do. And he would do it at his house. He'd like jump off his roof and stuff. And him and his buddies were like beating each other up with trash cans and hitting each other with chairs and that kind of stuff. And I'm like, it's really crazy what is on TV and people, you know, yeah, a lot of times kids, but people will try it. They'll see something on TV. They'll go.
I'm going to give that a shot. And they don't realize, hey, man, that's fiction. Like, you can't really do that. But people will try doing it. And sometimes they'll try doing stuff that is real, but it's professionals that are doing it. And they don't realize, oh, I shouldn't do that, which is the opposite of me. I am not a risk taker. No, I will not be injured in a skydiving accident because I'll be napping at the time. Maybe a running of the bulls accident. I would try that. I would run with the bulls. Oh, boy. I've seen it on TV. I think you could do it. You guys ever done anything you saw on TV? Well, here's the deal. I was a big fan growing up of the Dukes of Hazzard. And on the Dukes of Hazzard, they jumped a lot of stuff with that General Lee. So me and my friends were the kings of making rickety ramps. The jump stuff. You want to know something, dude? Yeah. The worst word in a parent's vocabulary is the word ramps. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. We would make the stupidest ramps. Not test them out. They're always makeshift. Dude. Please. You know, you get a couple of cinder blocks or bricks or whatever, and you find a piece of wood, you're good. You see what he said? And he's right.
A piece of wood. I'm not talking like a good piece of wood. No. Like a wood that will break, you know. Yeah, wood that's been soaking in the rain. Or even like a two by four where you have to get your bike wheels perfectly aligned on that thing. Oh, yeah. And if you're off by a quarter of an inch on that three feet going up that ramp, you're dead. You're Napoleon Dynamite. Right. So we did that a lot. And the other thing, I forget what it was we were watching, but we saw, it was like some sort of like medieval movie we were watching. Oh, good, yeah. And they had jousting. And we thought, oh, that's cool. And so we all got broomsticks. Oh, dude. And got on our bikes. And went on two separate ends and rode towards each other as fast as we could and tried to knock each other off our bikes. That's insane. We did that twice. First time wasn't that bad. Second time. The younger kid got really hurt. So what did you have? You had broomsticks. And we would hold them correctly, you know, in our hands. And we would ride our bikes and then try and joust each other off the bikes. My brothers did that, and they used trash can lids as shields. Yeah, yeah, we had those too. Well, you have to have shields. You have to have shields. So it's for protection. It's a trash can lid. It's protection. And by the way, you know, when you're making the ramp,
If you don't have cinder blocks, you know, whatever. Like maybe a 12-pack of tab in the garage. Dude, that would work great. Is this sturdy? Yeah, this is sturdy. That's stunning. Yeah, it's sturdy. Let's do it. Yeah, but we need something for the ramp. What do we have? What do we got? And the bigger, the better. Yeah, the bigger, the better. Build that thing up. 570-1053. 35253 is the text. What did you see on TV that you tried or what was something dangerous that you did that you tried? Remember, there's a story. Remember that movie, that football movie, The Program? Oh, yeah. When that was out? Yeah. There was a big story about how kids were laying down in the street like they did in that movie, The Program, and one person actually died. Yeah. Because they got ran over by a car. Wow. Don't do stuff you see in movies. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. No, it doesn't. Even the easy stuff. I wasn't a fan of Dukes of Hazzard, but I mean, everybody has seen the way those dudes jump in the car through the window, you know. And one summer day, thought it would be really neat. What did you do? How did you do it? What was the plan and what actually happened? Well, it wasn't a plan, Mike. It was just like, oh, summer day, we're having fun. I'm young. Hey, wouldn't it be cool if I just jumped in the car this way?
And I was trying to jump into the passenger seat of a Geo Metro. Of course. Well, please. Window down? The window rolled all the way down. I guess I don't really remember how they did it in the Dukes of Hazzard because obviously I didn't do it correctly. Right. Because I, like, braced my hands on the top. Right. And, like, I jumped. Yeah. But, like, when I jumped, I, like, tucked my knees. So basically my shin, both of my shins came straight down on like where the window is. That's not a good strategy. No, no. And then I'm just sitting there with my shins like on the thing. How'd the Duke boys do it? Well, you kind of go in cheek first. Yeah. And you slide your legs in that way. That's not realistic. That's not realistic. Well, that's how they did it. Tom Wolf hat. Yeah, well, he's the worst. I can't believe they were able to do that. I busted up my shins. And that wasn't cool. Yeah, there was, do you remember Circus of the Stars? Yeah, yeah. So one of these guys, they did this high wire act where they were on a bike. And the bike was on this tightrope. And so my buddy and I thought, that's something that we could do as well. So we got a couple of saw horses and a two by four.
Put the two-by-four, one two-by-four across, and one leading up. And we'll just ride the bike up. That should work. Yeah. So we get right in the middle of the whole thing. Oh, dude. Oh, my gosh. My friend got really hurt. He did? Yeah. Yeah, broke his arm. Oh. Yeah, it was bad. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, not good. Yeah, I made a lot of homemade. You're surprised you didn't break some mouths, too. I made a lot of homemade weapons. You did? From watching TV. Oh, yeah. Well, you know, like. You used to see those things where, like, they would have two balls on the end of two strings and you'd whip them at somebody's legs and they'd wrap around and they, like, make you trip. Right. We did that. Except we nailed tennis balls into the string. Right. And the tennis ball flew off and the nail wrapped around my leg and went into my leg. Yeah, that's not good. Yeah. Don't do that. It was like a sprinkler. Like a little geyser. We got a bleeder! P1 Dizzle. What's up, guys? What's up, dude? When I was five years old, I watched an episode of Superman. And that night, I had a dream that I could fly. So I woke up in the morning and I was like, yeah, I could fly. I went up on top of the small end of my roof on the fence and jumped up, jumped off it, into the lawn and broke my leg. That is gnarly. So you didn't make it?
No, I don't think he made it. I don't think he made it. Yeah, people can't fly, Eddie. Oh, how dare you. Yeah, I'm sorry to... Sorry about that, bro. You can levitate. P1MD. Hey. What did you do? We ended up playing chicken with a train on a train track. Oh, yeah, that's really bad. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Oh, you're lucky to be alive. Stand by me? Where'd you see that? Yeah, that's exactly what it was. We were watching it in the desert, and then... We just did something really stupid. We kind of regret doing it now. Well, yeah. You're so lucky nobody got hurt. Yeah, we are. We really are. Oh, man, dude. 570-1053 is the phone number. Our text number is 35-253. No fear. Yeah. Well, they're going to live forever. Oh, yeah. That's the deal. You know, kids feel like they're bored. And you don't really think it out when you're that age. No, not at all. Let's see. P1 Thelma, what's up? What up? Okay, so you remember the movie Home Alone? Yeah. So I was like eight years old and I had two older brothers who were the devils. And there's a part of it that Macaulay Culkin threw motor oil on the bad guys and then feathered them. So they were like, oh, Thelma, come on, it'll be fun, blah, blah, blah, blah. So in the middle of my mother's turn, we just got new couches and she decided to take the plastic off because we weren't in the 80s anymore or whatever.
They tarred and feathered me, and I was just crying. I couldn't get it out. They put me in the bathroom, like destroyed every part of my mom's stuff because I tracked it everywhere and then like was touching the walls and stuff. Wow. They tarred and feathered you? I was always the guinea pig. Oh, that is crazy. That is so crazy. Did they take pictures? No. My mom was mad, though. She was just like. Where did they get the feathers from? Nice. Oh, wow. Yeah. That's a pretty good one. Thanks. Thanks, Thelma. Brutal. New kids are performing right now on the Today Show, and they're 49 years old now. They're not really new anymore. Yeah, they're old kids. Who is the audience? Is it adults that are in their 30s, you think? Yes. Now that's Neo? I guess. Is that Neo singing? Probably. It's not fair to have him sing. Yeah, I mean, they got five guys in that group. Do they really need another one? Yes. But it's not fair for him to sing because he's talented. Yeah, he makes them good. What are you saying about the new kids? I'm saying that they're white.
They sound like a bunch of white dudes in their 40s. They're awesome. You stop it. But Neo, that dude sounds good. Listen to that. Oh, see, now that was white guys singing. That was white guys in their 40s singing. Get it, Joey. It's so funny because we're looking in the audience and it's like 34-year-old women. It really is. That's crazy. They were there the first time? Yeah. And they're going to be there this time. They're still trying to wear the same outfits they wore. Yes. Yes, they are. So, Sky, talk to me. Yeah? You're 30 years old. Yeah. You're a big New Kids fan. Mm-hmm. We've been on the radio, and there's been, we've been, you know, every once in a while you look up on the Today Show, and there's been this New Kids stuff going on for a while now. Yeah.
Does it bring back anything for you? Is your interest like, do you have any interest at all in what's going on with this whole new kids back thing? Or are you just like... Well, when I heard the news that they were coming back, I was really excited. And then when the reviews on the album weren't so good, I was bummed and decided, okay, well, I guess I shouldn't get it. And then a group of P1s wrote, and I will not name names, and you can thank me later for not naming your name. Quimby? Inviting me to go to NKO TV with them. Quimby. Maybe some male P1s as well who are going. Who is that? What male P1? Say their names. I want to know what she's saying. She's shaking her head now and squeezing her eyes shut. Whoever they are right now, that person right now is begging their radio. That guy, that P1 is begging his radio. And so they invited me to go with them to go see NKO TV when they come to town. And I wanted to go, but it's on a school night, so I'm not going to go. But if it was like on a Friday or a Saturday night, I totally would have gone with them. To the show, I would have gone. I can see it in your eyes. What's up? I see it in your eyes. I'm not naming any names. I'm not naming any names. You guys. That's sad. I'm telling you. Oh, man.
So, yeah, there's definitely, you know, that's the audience. Mikey, we used to do the Indiana Jones with our hats and garage doors, and we broke my friend's parents' garage door open. Oh, no. Yes. Mikey used to swing on vines like Tarzan, and the vines always broke. Oh! To the foul. Mikey, we used grocery bags as parachutes and jumped off roofs. Oh, my gosh. That doesn't work. Not a good idea. Cannonball! Mikey, I used to do Teen Wolf car surfing. Don't know what that is. Oh, my gosh. No idea what that is. Never saw Teen Wolf. That is bad. That is dangerous. Teen Wolf the movie, they would do this thing where they would drive a van, and they would stand on top of the van, and the guy would drive. It's like surfing. As if he was surfing. That's not good. That is not safe. It's not safe, not good, and a bad idea. Unless you're a Teen Wolf, you're not qualified. Aye, aye, aye.
Let's see. P1 Arturo Fuente is on the line. Go ahead. What's up, Mikey? Go ahead, dude. Hey, yeah, when I was about 10 years old, I saw somebody do a back clip on TV. Tried to do one myself, landed on the back of my neck, and spent about an hour and a half paralyzed from the neck down. Oh, my gosh. Take care of your head by wearing your helmet. No way. Oh, that is so dangerous. Yeah. Aye, aye, aye. Oh, no. You're lucky, bro. Oh, no. Yeah. You're very lucky. Thank you for the call. How about this one? P1 Marcos. Good morning, Mikey family. Good morning. Hey, is Sean in the studio? It sounds a little different. Yes, he is in the studio. Sean, you're in good voice today, buddy. Good voice. Anyway, a little scene in Alien when Bishop was stabbing the gaps in between his fingers. Aliens. In Aliens, I believe that was it. I used a Woodall, and let's just say my ring finger and pinky can spread a little bit wider. That. That. Oh, yeah, that's what I was envisioning, that no. Oh, that is gnarly. Thank you for the call. See, the scene he's talking about, Bishop, who's an android. Duh.
puts his hand down on the table and spreads his fingers as wide apart as they will go, and he takes a knife and very slowly begins to stab the space in between his fingers and then starts to speed up until finally he's going... Stein right there tried it. Utterly horrendous. He's not an android, though, Mike. He is not an android. Why are you the way that you are? 35253 is our text. Our phone number, 570-1053. You can usually find the recommended tire pressure on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. And speaking of air, air conditioning is not so hot for your car's mileage either. Whenever you turn it on, it puts an added strain on your engine.
Now, at highway speeds, it's probably better to use the A.C. rather than roll down the windows because of the aerodynamics. But around town, enjoy the fresh air. And that's another great way to get the most out of your Chevron with Tecron. Learn more mileage tips by visiting chevronwithtecron.com. So we saw this thing we thought was kind of interesting. And I need all of them. I need all those sheets. Basically what we were talking about was if our life were a movie and we had to come up with a different song for all these different events in our lives, basically make a movie soundtrack out of our life, what would we have? What would the songs be?
And so I had all the members of the show come up with what they would do. You know, what would your songs be? And I have to tell you that this is fantastic. I really felt like I was scoring a real movie. Eddie, I'm telling you. Oh, I hated this. Well, and here's the thing. We didn't give any of us very much time to do it. Especially me. That's right. Oh, Sky was scrambling. Scrambling, you guys. Shut up. Sky, if you had more time, how different would it be if you had more time? I'd say maybe 30% of those songs would be different. They would? Yeah. Well, I like your songs. Yeah, because Eddie had a great idea. You know, go use your iTunes because that, you know, is like the music you love and stuff. But, you know, I didn't get the email until this morning. So I had to kind of do it on the fly, Mike. I did my best, bro. Yeah. Talk about.
Talk about pulling the curtain back, eh? Well, I'm just saying. Yeah. That's why I was scrambling, Mike. Well, listen, Sky. I was scrambling. Sky, would you like to hear some of the songs that Sky came up with? Mm-hmm. Now, here were the different categories. Ant's marching. Here was the different categories of your movie. Opening credits, your waking up scene, getting ready scene, car driving scene. High school flashback scene, nostalgic scene, angry scene, agony, painful scene, your breakup scene, your sad breakdown scene, nightclub, buddy sidekick, dreaming of someone, contemplation, love scene, kissing scene, relaxing scene, action fight scene, victory scene, and closing credits. Now, obviously, I'm not going to read all these. We can put them on the website, though. Yeah, put them on the website. But what we do have is we got a few examples. Smattering. A smattering. This is Skye's waking up scene. It'll be about Skye as she's waking up. And Sean is yawning. That's nice, huh? I don't look like that when I wake up. So this is a song that we'll be playing when Skye is waking up. Citizen Cope. Sun's gonna rise. It wasn't that song. Money, money, money, money.
Oh, well. Sky just shot Rob a look. What? Why would I wake up to that? Money, money, money. You were dreaming about it, so why not? Yeah. Money, money, money. In Sky's angry scene where she's really angry in the movie. Ugly Kid Joe, I hate everything about you. Nice. Laugh at me. Do you want to hear her agony painful scene? Heartbreaking. Rusted Root? Oh, that would have been a good thing. It's Dave Matthews' band, Eddie. Gravedigger. It's the scene where... Cyrus Jones... This guy's breaking in. This is not Tenacious D. Me and my brother Eddie here. Long, lonesome road. It's a sad song. It's a sad song, you guys. In the middle of the road. There's Shine the Shining Demon. That's right.
This is Sky's sad breaking down scene. With her husband as Donkey Kong. The movie was King Kong. Same difference. When you try, but you don't succeed. Want to hear what song will be played during her nightclub dance scene? Oh, I'd love to hear this. I'm surprised it wasn't the thong song. Thank you. That'd be the wedding. Yeah, if Mike is invited. Wedding scene. Yeah, great. Would you like to hear Sky's kissing scene? Oh, sexy time. Talk about it. Dave Matthews band. What, Eddie? It's the Dave Matthews band. It's a beautiful song. So boring.
You're boring. I'd be like, ew, you have bad breath. Oh, gross. Who has bad breath? You do. Why? Because you're listening to this. It smells like onions. And Dave Matthews. She did not appreciate that. Let's see. Let's do Rob. And for the record, I'd like to mention my sidekick song was Kitty by the Presidents of the United States of America because in my movie, in my head, my sidekick would be a cat. I just have to mention that for the record. When I picture my movie, my sidekick is a cat. You shouldn't have mentioned that. I'm just saying. It is. Well, it is. She's getting it out there. Yeah, people should know. That's my sidekick. I would resist the temptation. That was brutal. Okay. Sorry, guys. Rob's. Opening credits. Yeah. Hey. They're doing a skyline shot of Boston. That's right. Yeah. Oh, hey. Boston Rob. Yeah. Story. Boston Rob. This totally would be his opening credits. You know it, dude. Me and Eddie high five.
The car driving scene for Boston Rob would be... Oh, yeah. Oh, nice. I like that. Now, I had a question about this one. Yeah. Is it just driving a car or is it like a car chase? I'm driving a car. Passenger is my old trusty bottle of Jack. Oh, wow. That's a weird movie. This is... Well, I would... The way I saw it was just a cool car driving scene. Yeah. Let's see. Boston Rob's sad breakdown scene. Look, he's breaking down. Rob is sad and breaking down. It's a good one, right? Heavy lip. His buddy sidekick scene where, of course, he'll be with his buddy sidekick, Eddie. That's what I did mine to. Was it this song right here? I switched it at the last minute. Garth Brooks. Friends in low places. What do you guys think? It's your big moment. Some gay bar, I guess. His kissing scene. Again with me. His kissing scene. Somewhere only we know. Great song.
The other one I thought was pretty good for B-Rob was, what would be his action fight scene song? Do it. Lacing up my boots. Dropkick Murphy's. Elbow. Karate kick. Do no drop. I'd buy that soundtrack. That's a good one. I kill you. Now, I got to admit to you, I was going through a lot of Ashley's, and she's very hip and young, and I didn't know a lot of her songs. Okay. Well, she's pretty young, and she knows what's up. Plus, she... Got a couple of the artists wrong. She did? I happened to glance at it. Uh-oh. You were not in agreement? No, no, no. I think she was confused on a couple. She did, like, John Mayer, the song I'm Yours, but I think it's actually I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. Oh, way to go, Ashley. Ashley? Ashley, I'm trying to figure out, which ones are yours? Which color is yours?
Yours are in pink. Okay. By Rob's. Let's see here. Okay, got it. Okay, so this is the song that would be playing when Ashley is waking up. This one I know. This one I know. Suddenly I see KT Tunstall. Raise anatomy all over again. Is that what it's about? I love this song. It just, like, gets me motivated and pumped for life, Eddie. Pumped for life. Pumped for life. It really does. You want to hear her sad breakdown song? Oh, I can't wait. Toni Braxton. It's the music of Toni Braxton. Brave again. Another one of my faves. Unbreak my heart. This can't be real. I would be laughing in the movie. We would be laughing hysterically. Oh, I think it's perfect. Can't you picture me breaking down and like crying to this song? Please. I can picture you breaking down to my humps. That's true. That's true.
Ashley's... Here's Ashley's Dreaming of Someone song. Oh, this is where it's at right here. Because it says dream. No, no, no. I kid you not. I kid you not. Growing up, I listen. I would pick dreams from Van Halen. Yeah. I swear, I swear to God. Dream a little dream. Growing up, I would listen to Kixi when I'd go to bed. Like, I couldn't fall asleep without music on. And I would hear this song, and I would literally dream about whatever guy I was crushing on at the time. So this song, like, has major... You know what I'm saying. Stealth with me? Hear her victory scene? Is that right? Yes. It's a gay victory, but it's a victory, you know what I mean?
Eddie just mouthed something we can't put on the radio. This is a victory song? Yeah, it's a victory song. Right, Ash? This is the best song ever. But you're pumped up, right? This is my song to play after everything is okay and I'm happy and I've won. Oh, big time. Go ahead and wait for it to get going. This is kind of... I had to stop it. I had to stop it. That was the worst thing I've ever heard. That's like if you lose, like you're forced to listen to that. You lose it all. Let's see. Let me find some more of these. Okay, here we go. This is... Ash, am I on the right thing? Page X, three pages up. Got it. Okay, now we got it. All right, so this would be Zeth's opening credits. Are you ready?
Something different happens inside Zeth that we don't know about. That is so true, dude. Right? That we don't see with Zeth. Because that's his opening credits. He wants to be something, then he's just kind of not. It's either that or that's who he really is, but we don't see it. I don't think so. How do we know? We've got enough of Zeth to know who he is. See, I think he's very mysterious. Awesome dude. Yeah, way awesome. I think you're really mysterious. Awesome, dude. Very masculine. Here is his high school flashback scene. This is going to make anyone over 30 years old feel really... Because when he thinks of high school, he thinks of this. What was that, like two years ago? Yeah, I know it, man. Seth is only 23 years old, and he just turned 23.
So this was a big hit when he was in high school. High school? Dude, I've been in radio 14 years when I was playing this song. Literally, I've been in radio for 14 years when I played this song. His breakup song, I don't even know. Really? What, Seth? Yell it. Pinback. Song's called Penelope. I like his music. Seth, I think, has good taste in music. Don't laugh, you guys. Safe place. Oh, Penelope. Why'd you leave me? He's brutal. Oh, Penelope. He's so brutal. He's so brutal. He's so brutal. Eddie just peeked over to see if Seth... Eddie does that. He'll say something like that, and then he'll peek over to Seth as if to say, are you okay? Poor little guy. Yeah.
And then his contemplation scene is the band that he introduced me to, City in Color, Sleeping Sickness. Good song. He's contemplating. What is he contemplating? Seth, what would you be contemplating? Into the microphone. Which guy to go out with? All right. How I can kill Rob and collect the insurance. That's a good one. I like that. What? Like Rob has insurance? Yeah. Please. Please. Good. Is this from the first album? Second album? I'm going to turn this off in a second. I just want to hear it. People are cutting themselves all over San Diego. It's so true. Yeah. Let's do Eddie. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do me. Yeah. You guys want to, oh, we couldn't, Eddie, we couldn't get, we wanted to play this one and we couldn't get a version that was clean enough. Oh, I know. No, there's two that you have that we couldn't get that were clean enough.
What do we got? Well, the first one says high school flashback scene, which is straight out of Compton by NWA. You got to understand, when I was in high school, I thought I was kind of a gangsta. Right. And want to be black dude. I still do, but really a lot in high school. And that's what I listened to. I listened to gangsta rap. Awesome. NWA, straight out of Compton. And we can't, like I said. Well, you can't. Like the first word is bad. Right. How does it go? Like, how does the beat go? I don't remember it. That's all you can say. Let's see. Ashley, where are Eddie's? Green. Okay, got it, got it, got it. Eddie's nostalgic scene. That's so sweet. This would be his movie. This would be in the soundtrack of Eddie's movie.
I would be singing. Oh, it would be you singing it. In my movie. Like lip-syncing it. No, singing it. Actually singing it. So much better. Neil Sean walks into the shot with a guitar. Sits down right next to me on a stool. Sits down next to you. Ross Valerie on bass. He comes in. Steve Smith on drums. Jonathan Cain would be on keys. That would be awesome. That's so weird that you know that. That was getting good. Listen, I wanted to do his angry scene, but ever since Janet Jackson did her thing, I don't think we do. I'm surprised. Rob, check and see if we have a clean version. We did, but we would play it. No, no. When I played it at KSGL, we did not play the clean version. Oh, I know what we got. Break stuff. Yep. You got it, Rob? The biscuit.
Limp Bizkit break stuff. I'd be really angry. That's a good song. Thanks. Okay, it says in here, I put it up on my beds. Okay. Just have the button handy. Get ready, I'm going to get mad. I know. Am I going to have to hit the button? Am I going to have to hit the button? We'll see. Let's see, where were yours, Rob? No, no, no, like on the regular. On the regular. Oh, I gotcha, I gotcha. Don't get mad yet. There it is. Eddie's going to touch. Get him. You're about to hear a very, very stark contrast. Yeah. All right, come on. There's only certain ones I want you to play. Between Eddie's angry scene and his sad breakdown scene. No. My girl left me. We had a big fight. She left. Where are you? I'm in a room and the rain is going down and I'm looking out the window. Thank you, man. I blew it.
It's the last stage of emotion. It really is, John. But then Rob comes and he picks you up and you guys go out to your big nightclub dance scene. Oh, yeah. Rob's going to cheer you up out at the nightclub. You're so money, you don't even know it. Yeah, get it, get it. We do. I love that. In Eddie's movie, he gets over it, meets a girl, and has a kissing scene in excess. That's good. Don't get horny, guys. That's the end of Eddie's movie, and they close with this in the credits. Goodbye, stranger. Supertramp. I love doing this. I know, it was fun. This was a lot of fun. How about Shawnee, oh boy? Sean! So much time to prepare for it. Shut up, you jerk. Eddie! What's the matter? You're rude. You are rude. It's a little rude. Thanks, Sean. A little bit. After the opening credits of Shawnee's movie, we see Shawnee waking up.
Okay. No way. No, you don't. I'm getting ready for the day, Mike. He likes the 80s. You queerbait. He's 6'3". He's 6'3". How is that queer? How is it queer? How is it not? That's the queer anthem. That is a celebrated pop hit, Mike. But then after Sean's awake and he takes a shower, he starts to get ready. And in his getting ready scene. Yeah. Why is this? You hear tacos putting on the Ritz. Yeah! You ready? Popping the collar, right? Kind of makes sense. Getting my best on for the day. Your best on. As Shawnee's movie moves on, eventually, Sean gets reflective and goes into the kind of nostalgic scene of Sean's life. This scene requires little Richard Marks. That's so gay. I'm so gay about that.
Like, you'd put your foot... It's an actual doctor. Right? That's more likely. That's what he meant. Maybe. I don't know. Dangling his feet off the DOC. Then... You're dumb. You get to... That's weird. You get to see the movie where Sean is very sad. And he's breaking down a little bit. Great pick. Did your hero not make it? Sorry, Eddie. He gets cheered up. And Sean goes to the dance club. At the dance club. Safety dance. So embarrassing. Do you have anything other than 80s on this list? Meet a girl. He meets a girl and they start to kiss. Before you know it, one thing leads to it. Yeah, dude. Well, all right. Let's relax. Sexy time. He's right. You married a man? Wait a minute. This next scene will prove how straight Sean is. Okay. What is it? What scene? It's a fight scene. Okay. Yeah. It's the action fight scene. Here's my thinking.
You know how... Behind Joanna by Cool and the Game. Yeah, yeah. Imagine, like, I'm fighting this guy, right? I'm breaking his head. I got his head in a car door, and I'm slamming the car door on his head, and this song is playing. I like that. That would be brilliant. It's like a Tarantino movie. Yeah, I agree. It is like a Tarantino movie. Like, you would never forget it. Like, remember the scene where he's beating the guy up, and Joanna by Cool and the Game is playing? Oh, man. And he wins the fight, so they do the victory music. That's right, Eddie. Sean just looked at Eddie and mouthed. Okay. Who's bad, Mike? Sean is bad. Thank you. So stupid. And closing credits. It's already been used. Which movie? A little movie called Breakfast Club. Oh, Breakfast Club. Wow. What? What movie? Yeah. Oh. What the hell's the matter with you?
In my movie, when I am waking up, I will wake up to the tunes of Bruce Hornsby and The Range. Very relaxing. It's kind of just the way life is for me. It's the way it is, you know what I mean? Out on the range. Stretching. I'm just clearing the cob zubs for my eyes. No, Eddie, it's more like that. This guy just did the lifting of the mask, which is actually much more like it. Let's see. My car driving scene while I'm driving a car. Maybe the coolest car driving music of all time. Because if I'm in a movie, whatever that car is, it's going to be bad. I wish that I had a billion dollar budget and I could just wreck the coolest cars in the world. Wreck? Yeah. Well, that's messed up. Yeah, it kind of is. My buddy's sidekick song.
You know, as I'm hanging out with Eddie, my bro, and it has to be some, I would think, I don't know, I'm trying to think of like some of the best times that we've had. Definitely when I was in Vegas back in the old days, Denny's. I know I'd go from rags to riches. You know what I'm saying? The dreaming of someone scene. Sky, do you remember the cover of No Ordinary Love by the Deftones? Oh, yeah. Oh, this is that one song they do. Yes, yes. I just wanted to work this tune into some kind of a soundtrack for a movie. That Buddy Miller song that I really like. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. For the contemplation scene. It's a really gnarly song. Yeah, great song. I picked this for my love song. Yeah. Love scene. Okay.
And closing credits would have to. My favorite band right now is Starfield. And so I picked this song, Rain In Us. Because this is the song that I said I think sounds like a movie soundtrack. Like it sounds like the music that they would use in a soundtrack. You've got to think about it, though. We've got to put these on the website so that everybody can see them. Because it's really fun to do your own movie soundtrack. You know what I mean? Oh, another one, Sean. That's right. when he dated that guy Mickey. 35253. Our phone number is 5701053. When we come back, Diddy is in the YouTube clip of the day. Again. I'm not kidding you. It just keeps getting better. The coaster ride, South 5 stays a little bit tight from Birmingham Drive down to Solana Beach. Westbound 52 backing up around that accident, cutting out of the fast lane just past Mass Boulevard. So that's keeping it very heavy out of Santee still this morning. The 8's looking good, 94 up to speed. The big story this morning has been Wildcat Canyon Road. That is still closed in both directions between San Vicente and the Barona Casino due to power lines down along that stretch. People out of San Diego Country Estates will have to use the 67 as an alternate. And because of that, it's catching up with commuters out of Ramona, keeping the 67 South very heavy. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. P1 Sanjaya. What's going on, Mikey? What's going on, dude? You went to sleep train? I went out to sleep train and bought myself a mattress, finally. When did you do it? I went this Sunday, actually. Cool. What did you get? Yeah, I got a beauty rest, a comfort classic. Did they deliver it Sunday, Monday, or when? Sunday when I told them to because I was moving that day. Really? It worked out perfect. That's pretty awesome. And did they take your, well, wait a minute. If you were moving, did they have to take your set or did you get rid of it yourself? No, I got rid of it myself. So they bring the new one in. Did they set it up for you? They set it up for me within like five minutes. And how did it feel that first night? Just like being in heaven. That's awesome, man. That's awesome, dude. That's awesome.
Yeah, I tell people about Sleepton. Did they give you a good price? Oh, yeah, dude. I went in there after the promotion about getting everything for free. And the dude's still doing everything for free. And after I told him that Mikey sent me personally, he knocked off $700. That's awesome. Yeah. All right, brother. Thank you, Sanjaya. All right, dude. Talk to you later, man. Sleep train's your ticket to a better night's sleep. Now back to the Mikey Show. A very enlightened Mikey. Yeah, I don't like the dark. Eddie. I've had a goatee now going on about 13 years. Sky. You know me, I live the life of like a 65-year-old woman. Sean. I'm a germaphobe. Boston Rob. I thoroughly enjoy listening to jazz music. And Ashley. Due to my carelessness, I'm extremely prone to self-inflicting injury. The Mikey show's on. Gosh, get to it already. Rock 105.3. Tomorrow is the P1 Hall of Fame. And let me tell you something, man. Our promotion department has made this thing into a behemoth. This broadcast is going to be historic in terms of its scope. Epic. For the Mikey Show. 100% epic.
Huge. It's like Star Wars A New Hope. Yeah, dude. Oh, good point. It's on that scale. It's on that scale, yeah. You know what he means, Skye? No, I don't know what that means. She does. Tomorrow here is Rincon, P1 Hall of Fame broadcast. Skye and I are going to be laying out all weekend. Duh. Really? Sexy time. Spa. Yep. You know, cucumbers on the eyes. You fall in the pool, CPR. Mike, why did he... I mean, we're all friends. Don't high-five anybody. We're going to be hanging out with our spouses. He's trying to make it awkward. No, I'm saying in case, you know. I'm sure they have a lifeguard there at Harrah's. I actually don't think so. I mean, I would... Sony... I beg you guys. Let me move on. Sony has recalled 440,000 Vio laptops. 440,000 of them. Sean, what are you working on over there? This is a compact. It's a compact. It's not a Sony Vio. Excuse us. Show off. Do you guys know who uses a Sony Vio laptop? Oh, no. Really? That's right, Eddie.
Science. Our consultant, Randy Lane. There goes all our files. He doesn't know who we are now. So what happened? Well, faulty parts, Mike. That could trigger a little overheating. I've had to have surgery here in my belly. Your faulty parts? My faulty parts. Yeah, they say faulty wiring connecting the main body of the laptop to the display could overheat and that's not good and smoke and what have you. So the recall involves 19 models of the Vio TZ laptop series, which were made between May of 07 and July of 08. So check Sony's website for all those details. Mackenzie Phillips is in rehab and facing felony drug charges. Yeah, two felony drugs. drug charges. Crack is whack. She was found at LAX with heroin, coke, a whole bunch of syringes. Coquine. Coquina.
So two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. These are all ways that cocaine has never been said. That's true. Booger sugar. Yes. Cocaine. Yeah. So just like anybody who gets caught for whatever DUI drugs immediately to rehab. So hopefully the judge will, you know. Conking. What talks like that? These are the ways that cocaine is said in the hood. Yeah. Yes. Let's see. Oh, man. Cocaine. Cocaine. Howard Stern has filed a lawsuit over claims of drugs and gay sex. If you read that closer, Mike, I put Howard K. Stern. Howard Stern is in trouble. Anna Nicole's former companion. That's right.
Good gay stuff. Yeah. This all has to do with the Rita Cosby book, Blonde Ambition, the untold story behind Anna Nicole Smith's death. Thank you, thank you, Rita. I appreciate that. You know, in the book, it claims that people saw Howard K. Stern giving Anna Nicole drugs. What did you think of the name Silo? And that also people witnessed Howard K. Stern being intimate with Larry Burkhead. Come on. He says that both of those things are not true and have sued the people that told Rita Cosby that. Hey, there's a new version of The Wonder Years coming to NBC. Oh, no. Oh, I love that show. Let's see. See if I could find the song. Yeah, so it's going to be called Lost in the 80s, and they say it's pretty much the Wonder Years with the little Fast Times at Ridgemont High kind of vibe to it. Yeah, Stacy. This is really good. Yeah, this is great, Stacy. Hey, Ratna, where'd you forgot your wallet? Hey, you want to go see Earth, Wind, and Fire? Hey, is that your little brother? He's a great-looking kid. The Wonder Years. A couple of artists that I didn't get into until I was an adult.
that were way before my time, but like I, when I was an adult, I was like, I think I kind of like their music. Joe Cocker's one of them. What'd you do if I sang? Out of two? Would you stand up and walk out on? Hey, there's no doubt about it. Ray Charles called. But, but, it's good stuff. I mean, he's so much more fun to watch. That is true. All right. Get it. Get it. Let me tell you something. I could have a DVD of Eddie doing Joe Cocker. I could have four hours and it wouldn't be enough of watching Eddie do Joe Cocker. I'll do it at the Hall of Fame tomorrow. It's fantastic. It's fantastic. I love it. Let's see. Kate Hudson says she is still living with her ex. This is weird. Wait, which one?
Her ex-husband. That's crazy. Yeah. The guy from the Black Crows. Yeah, the father of her baby. Yeah. Her baby's daddy. And it's very interesting, the timing on this, because, you know, Kate Hudson has had quite a few high-profile relationships since her divorce. Haven't we all? And they've all gone... They have all gone... And, um... How? You got a flat. Okay, let's see. Owen Wilson. Owen Wilson. Uh-huh. Lance Armstrong. Oh, that's right. I forgot about Lamb. He was guessing. I wanted to see what Nancy was going to say. No, I would not remember. I would not have remembered. Help the guy out. I don't remember past... Do not help the guy out. Wow, what's so mean? Well, I wanted to see who he was in. I know. I wanted to see who he was in. Let him fail. I want to see him fail. You nearly hit yourself, boy. Twisting the wind, Mexican. Oh, my gosh.
Fail, my pretty. Fail, my brownie. Hilarious and accurate. You are all hilarious. But so, yeah, she's had these high profile relationships and there's never been any word of her ex, you know, through any of this or them living together. And then recently her ex has been photographed out with some, I don't know, model chick or whatever. And now she tells Cosmo magazine that they're basically still living together and they figured it out. It's not perfect. But, you know, she could never look at their divorce as a mistake. It's the best thing that ever happened to them and their relationship. Okay. There's a new campaign. Yeah. Right. There's a new campaign ad, and I don't know if it's television or if it's print or what it is. Sky, you tell me. But it is of Brian Bilbray, who is a local politician. Yeah, it's against Bilbray. It's against him, right? Yeah, it's a commercial. It compares him to Paris Hilton.
It's a TV commercial? Yes. So what's up? Well, you know, he's up for re-election in November. You know, November 4th when we vote for everything else. That's one of the things we're going to vote for. And, you know, the Democrats, of course, don't want him to stay in office. And they have a guy who, you know, they won. And so they, you know, I guess looked back at his time in office and decided it's pretty similar to Paris Hilton and the things she's accomplished. Yeah, do we have that, Sean? Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, okay. No, it's been a busy morning. But basically what they're saying in the clip, that they both do nothing. They're out there in the public eye, but they do nothing. They accomplish nothing. And, you know, obviously there's the side-by-side pictures of Bill Bray in Paris. So you'll start to see that on the TV tonight. Hey, did you guys hear about the couple that used the vacant house in the college area to try to, like, pull off a robbery? It was like a Craigslist robbery. Get out of here, dude. What happened? Yeah, so this dude was responding to an ad on Craigslist for somebody selling a plasma TV. And, of course, you know, they would only accept cash, which, you know, isn't unreasonable when you're purchasing something off a Craigslist. So they, you know, were going to meet up at this house on 54th Street. This dude shows up, and I guess this couple pulls out a weapon and tries.
to rob them, tries to rob him, and he fights back and actually gets away. And then when the cops show up and start investigating, the house was actually a vacant rental property. Really? So these people knew it was a vacant home, and then they put the list, the ad on Craigslist, made that as the meeting spot, like they're just a normal couple and this is their home. No way, Jose. And then tried to rob the dude. Really? Yeah, I would recommend if you ever buy anything off Craigslist to always bring somebody with you. Yeah. I mean, it's just smart. Well, you know, and if possible, like maybe meet somewhere, you know? Well, a lot of times it's like furniture and stuff like that. You can't really do that. You can't really bring a sofa to Starbucks. And that's kind of the point, right? Like you don't want to move it. You want them to come get it. Right. Yeah. So if you bring a buddy with you to help move it anyway, you know, chances are you'll probably be all right. If I'm selling something that I can stick in my car, if I am. Starbucks. Let's meet at Starbucks. That's smart. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Not in the morning? When it's light out? 2 in the morning. Yeah, the only time I'm available is when I get off my shift at 2.30 a.m. How about at the Denny's on University? We'll meet up. You know what? That's a great idea, but I would rather meet you at a cornfield. Cornfield. There's a cornfield right by my house.
And I get off at 2 a.m. And so if you can just meet me there. Do you want that Aquaman bobblehead? Remember, it's $4,000. And you want it in small bills, right? Small $20 bills would be really nice. They're hazing at Point Loma Nazarene. That's crazy. Are you kidding me? Oh, this guy will tell you about it next time. To reach a DMV agent, please press zero.

Yo, amigo, ¿qué pasa, man? Sure, you got it. I didn't know I had a bad habit until this guy approached me in a bar and said, You know, that's a bad habit. What's a bad habit? Hang on. What? No, it's not raining here. Sorry, you were telling me. What's a bad habit? It's obvious. Drinking that light beer. Try Tecate Light. It tastes like real cerveza. It goes right there. Skye, how was your walk and talk with Ashley yesterday? What's going on? It was electric. You know, Mommy had taken her Adderall. So I have really honed my listening skills. And I believe it was one. How about your talking skills? No. I believe it was one continuous sentence from the time we walked out the door to coming back. I have a lot of energy. And a lot to say. And in the middle of her... I'm really cracked out today, Sky. I'm on my Adderall, so I'm just telling you... You're smart. Yeah, because I'd realized I'd been going on for, like, who knows how long without taking a breath. That must be a lot of fun. I would like to be a fly on the wall. What do we have? We've got a couple of spots to give away in tonight's poker tournament. Three entries? That's right. Whoa! Tonight we're playing poker at Harrah's Rincon. Holy cow. Holy cow. I would say get the packages. Go to MikeyShow.com and click on, you know, and not click on, but put in the keyword fame.
And you can then get dialed in to one of two packages. One for $149, one for $299. The $149 includes poker tournament tonight. A night stay at Harrah's Rincon. Hot breakfast tomorrow morning. If you sign up for the more expensive one, you get all that, but you also get VIP treatment for Boston Rob's bachelor party, which is one of those t-shirts that they had printed up for his bachelor party. They are rad. If we sold those t-shirts, we could make... Yeah. But they're giving them out free for VIP members. The front of it looks like it's a T-shirt. It's a white T-shirt, but they made it look like a jersey, like a Boston Red Sox jersey. And instead of saying Red Sox, it says Boston Rob in that same lettering. Sick. It's rad. And then the back says what? Bachelor Party. Bachelor Party. It's pretty awesome. If you sign up for the more expensive package, you get that T-shirt. You get to go roll VIP for his bachelor party tomorrow night. And you get another night stay. So it's really an incredible deal. 570-1053. Let's see. Let's give away a couple of spots. P1 D-Train. Yes. You willing to go up there and play some poker tonight? Yeah. Very nice, dude. Hang on, right? Let's see. Who else? P1 Brandon.
Yo. You can go up there tonight? I am all in. You're in, dude. Hang on. You said it. P1 Jennifer. Hi, Mikey. How you doing? I'm doing good. How are you? Good. You play poker? Actually, my fiance is a huge poker fan. He was actually at Barona last night. That's why I called. Okay. Is he a P1? Yeah, he is. So, Eddie, can she win for him? Come on, please. How are we going to work that? Well, she just gives all his information, right? Yeah, I've got it. He's my fiance. Okay. I know he's listening right now at work. That's fine. I just hope he can go. I don't want him going. You know he can go for sure? Positive. Okay. We live together. Okay, and he'll want to go. Okay, hang on. That makes me nervous. P1 Stephanie. Hi, Mikey. How you doing? Good, how are you? I'm good. Are you going to go play poker tonight? All right. All right, hang on the line. Baby power. P1 Booze. What's happening? What's up? How you guys doing? Good, man. Can you go up there tonight? For sure. You got it. Hang on the line. Wow. Get some information. Nice. There it is. People are going to be playing in the poker tournament tonight. Awesome. Very, very nice. Let's see. I've still missed a lot of stuff.
There's a lot of stuff we still have not talked about. Williams' sisters went out at the U.S. Open. No, you read that wrong. They're brothers, actually. No, they're not. Two dudes. They're ladies. A couple of bros. And how did they do? Burley. Well, one of the brothers won. Yeah, which one? Will you be serious? The dominant one. All right. I think that's Serena. Serena. Serena or something. I don't know. Yeah. Well, before we went to break, I said that there has been hazing. At Point Loma Nazarene University. What is going on? Well, the resident hall director has been fired. Uh-oh. And some upperclassmen are being disciplined. I guess this is something that they do every year to, you know, it's not sanctioned by the school, but I guess this happens every year to the freshman guys. They get woken up in the middle of the night by some upperclassmen, and then they're told to march down to the bluffs and swim naked in the ocean. But I guess this year they decided to add a little extra to add a little extra to that, which included allegedly slapping the naked dudes as well as. You mean slapping them like across the face? It doesn't say. And to be honest, I don't know if I can actually say this. So here you go. What the heck? Oh, yeah, you can't say that. They also did some other things to them that are, you know.
Yeah, it's stuff that has to do with bathroom stuff that you can't say. Sunburn treatments, if you will. Sunburn treatments is a great way to say it, Skye. They gave some of the guys the sunburn treatment. Yes, they did. Oh, no. So, yeah. Ran out of big gold cups. So, Josh, the resident hall director has been fired. That's a good way to put it. You know, it's funny because, Mike, I called the Kaiser hotline last night. It was busy. It was busy all night. Maybe that's the deal. Maybe that was what was going on. That explains a lot. Well, it explains a lot to people that know the show. But what about for the benefit of new listeners? That's a good point, Mike. What do you mean? Shush, everyone. Oh, no. I don't even know what you're talking about. It's a big day. We've got a lot going on. We don't have time for this. Well, Skye, let's just say that Skye has had sunburn issues before. Excuse. That's right. This guy will leave it at that. Okay, but I'm confused. You are not confused, Eddie. You've heard this story like 700 times. I'm sure you can figure it out, Eddie, after what we've already said. Fine, tell me off the air. In the office. No problem. I can do that. Attorney for Scripps Ranch, that Scripps Ranch teenager that's accused of murdering her adoptive mom.
wants the DA's office removed from the case. Now, wouldn't the DA's office be kind of the enemy in that situation? Yeah, well, basically, you'll probably remember this story happened back in May in Scripps Ranch. This adoptive daughter allegedly killed her mother with a hammer in the kitchen. Yeah, it's just a tragic story. Well, yeah, so the attorney for the girls says that the district attorney's office should be removed from the case because they believe prosecutors viewed some psychiatric records that were seized in the search of the young girl's home. And they believe, you know, that stuff should be private and that the DA's office shouldn't have access to those records. And so they now, you know, the lawyer's trying to get them removed. Rage Against the Machine was blocked from performing at a Republican National Convention protest. Well, of course they were. Let me just say Tom Morello wasn't really Rage Against the Machine. Yeah, no kidding. He's out there with his ukulele. No, it was actually Rage Against the Machine.
They had a performance schedule at the Target Center, like an actual one. But prior to that, they were going to do this impromptu performance for protesters. And the police came up and stopped them saying, hey, you don't have a permit to perform. You know what that would do with all those protesters if they started playing? So I guess the band then jumped into the crowd and started marching with the crowd, and the crowd all sang Bulls on Parade and Killing in the Name of acapella as they all marched out. It's a ridiculous thing. It's a ridiculous thing. That's so stupid. Of course they're not going to let them perform. It would turn into, you know. A YouTube video. Yeah. You know what? Did you see the video of the anarchy people wearing masks, going through the streets, busting out windows? I heard about it. I didn't see the video. They were getting all maced in the face and stuff. That's disgusting. Would you eat your dog? Would you eat your cat? Coleslaw is murder. Heard that. That's true. So, that'll teach him.
570-1053 is our phone number. Beginning and end of every show, we do an open phone segment so you can call about anything you want to. So we'd love to hear from you. And, yeah, we're saying give us a call right now because we're going to get out of here. And tomorrow is the big P1 Hall of Fame broadcast. Tomorrow we will be broadcasting from Harrah's Rencon. But the fun starts tonight, Mike. Yeah, we're going to play poker. Come on, come play poker. People can come out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's going to be a big tourney. You can buy in. Yep. Now, if you go to the website, you can dial up the packages that we're selling. We're selling two packages, one for $149, one for $299. And basically what that will get you is playing poker tonight, spending the night at Harrah's, hot breakfast tomorrow, and then depending on which package you get, the T-shirt for B-Rob's VIP at his bachelor party and another night's stay. Pretty cool. Don't quote me on this, but I believe the buy-in for the tournament tonight is $30. Nice. I'm going to quote you. I'm going to quote you. Don't quote me on that. I'm quoting. I asked you not to. We're getting text messages saying that the Harrah's website is showing that the Hall of Fame packages are expired. What does that mean, expired? Get someone on the phone. Do we know what that means, expired? Get them on the phone. I don't know. Do you know Mary's number, Ash? Get Mary. Mary will know. Mary Weber. Mikey Show, hello.
Mikey, job of the morning to you at P1 Vodka here. What's going on? So I wanted to give Eddie my Super Bowl picks. All right, Eddie, you ready for this? Let me write these down. Hang on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go, Vodka. Go. The Jaguars and the Cowboys. Oh, wow, that is ridiculous. Jaguars? The Jaguars. The Jaguars, Eddie. Well said. And the Cowboys. How do you spell Jaguars? J-A-G-W-I-R-E. Yep, that's it. Jaguars. Well said. Thank you very much. Cool, got it written down. Mikey Show. Hey, how's it going? Good. This is P1 Lafayette. What can I do for you? I'm just wondering if you still have some spots for the poker tournament. No, we do not, sir. I'm sorry, but... You can go up there to Harrah's Rincon tonight and buy in, bro. How much is it?
Eddie has been quoted as saying. No, I said don't quote me. Eddie has gone on the record saying. It was off the record. He did say that. Eddie had an official statement saying. Released earlier this morning. That's right. I think it's 30. In a press release that came out today via Eddie's office. Well, his lawyer. His lawyer, yes. McClankle? Yeah, McClankle. It was from the offices of McClankle and McClankle. Yeah, we believe it's 30 bucks is the buy-in. Sounds good. You got it. Something like that. Mikey Show. Mikey Show. It's me, P1 Robert. And I have a question. Are you going to have any shuttle buses going to the Dink tomorrow morning? Oh, going to? Oh, man. We won't, but I know Harrah's runs their own shuttle buses.
