The show opened with Mikey and Rob lamenting Tom Brady's season-ending knee injury and accusing Bill Belichick of misleading the public about the exact ligament to gain a competitive edge. They then celebrated Mikey's son Jake's second birthday with a playful birthday sing-along before taking listener calls, including Akbar's definition of a P1 fan and Suburban Cowboy's advice on cloning tomato cuttings with a humidity dome. Later, Eddie and Mikey recapped Aaron Rodgers' impressive Packers debut and Denver's lopsided win over Oakland, mourned the death of former UFC fighter Evan Tanner from dehydration during a camping trip, and discussed an email about grandparents taking a child to Disneyland without consent, which sparked a debate about honesty and family boundaries, before ending with a promotional push for the Fringe premiere.

The president will announce plans today to reduce the number of troops in Iraq, but to beef up our presence in Afghanistan. Oh, Rob, I feel so bad for you, bro. Tom Brady, out for the entire year. We will miss the NFL season with a knee surgery. Decides to have season-ending surgery. Oh, man. Still waiting for more reports, though, right? No. It's official. Maybe he should see different specialists. I'll give him my leg. He should get a fourth opinion. Well, you guys can listen to what the ray of sunshine Bill Belichick has to say about it. 19. First, we feel badly for Tom about the injury. You hate to see anyone go down. Nobody's worked harder and done more for this team than Tom has. He's so angry. He hates it. He hates doing this. That's obviously the bad news in the game. Really? Not really sure what more you want us to say. He's out for the season, so it's happened before. I don't care about him anymore. No. I guess it's the first time he's seen an injury, so I don't know what you want me to say. He's weaker than the rest of us. That's true. Oh, man. Well, there it is. Do they know exactly what was torn? Dude, this is what really irritates me.
is that Belichick, you know, had this press conference yesterday, was supposed to talk about the injury and all that. Won't say what it is. Come on. Won't say exactly what it is. And I'm like, really? Are you trying to? Yeah. So we don't target the specific ligament in his knee? Yeah. What are you talking about? That could give an advantage to the other team. Because you know what they'll do? The other team will then game plan for ACL as opposed to MCL. Exactly. Next year. He does that. He cheats, you know, about, well, I'm sorry. He lies about, like, the injury report. Yeah. You know, that's one of the big things that they say about Belichick is that, you know, he'll lie about that. And so it's like he's still doing that, but dude's out for the year. It's not like it matters. Yeah, because doesn't he put that guys will be, like, questionable or probable, full well-knowing that they're going to play and stuff? Yeah. Joker. Rob will have to answer to that. Well, Rob has his Matt Castle jersey ready to go. Yeah, all right. Here we go. Keeping his fingers crossed. There it is. Well, welcome to the program. It is the Mikey Show, and there are seven of us. So let's go around the horn, as they say. I didn't get to see. I saw maybe two minutes, two minutes of football last night. Every intention to be able to watch football and just didn't get to it.
I had to go to sleep real early, and so I just didn't get to it. Today is my son Jake's birthday. Jake is two years old today. Hey, Sean, do you have any of the audio of my son singing? I sure do. Let's hear some of this. Let's hear some happy birthday. Okay, you start. You start. I'll start. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear. Happy birthday. He's your godson, Eddie. That's awesome. Oh, man, he's having a great time. That's awesome. Oh, man. That's right. I love you. I'm going to start using that. I know it. Hey, babe, can you take out the garbage? You start. I love it. When I walk into his room, because I get to give him his bottle on the weekend.
So he will be he he stays awake for like a half an hour before we go in there because he's just like singing to himself and playing. And he'll do that for like a half an hour before he starts to get fed up with nobody coming in there. And so then he'll start to go. And as soon as we hear that, all right, it's time. So I go in there, I turn on the light. And when he sees me, he goes. I'm Mikey. I'm the host of the show. I am 38 years old and my kid's two. And two years ago today, I was not working. We were at the hospital waiting for Jake to be born. And it was a very long deal. And Rebecca's decision was natural childbirth until it started to hurt. That's the way it goes. And then she said, stick that sucker in my spine. Oh, yeah. And then she wanted to go have onion rings. She was real happy. She was stoked, man. Eddie is our producer, our sports guy, and knows a lot about sports. And he's also the pregame guy for the San Diego Chargers. So if you listen to the pregame, you're going to hear Eddie along with Lou and Jim Laszlovic. You guys have really kind of...
become a real synergized force. I listen to you guys, and you guys are so dialed in with each other. The first year was probably like a feeling out thing, and now you guys are like... That's my fourth year on the broadcast, third year with this group of jokers. Yeah, I mean, we really have a nice chemistry going. It's really fun working with those guys. Actually, this Sunday... I'm going to be on for the full two hours of the fantasy football show. Really? Because B-Dub is going to be actually in Denver. So it'll be just me and Mike Costa this Sunday. So that'll be kind of fun. Wow. That's cool. Call in P1s with your fantasy football question. That's right. So I don't have to write you back. Skye is our news girl. Hi, Mike. Hi, Skye. Hi. You know what I did for your husband yesterday? What? Skye is 30 years of age. Her husband is, isn't he a year younger? No. Isn't he 29? No, he's like six months older. He's older than you? Yeah. I thought he was younger for some reason. It's the hair. It's the hair. It's the hair. He looks so young. Even flow.
I think I get that. That was a reference from your party, right, Eddie? And I wasn't even there. But I've heard so much about it. Tim decided that he looked like Eddie Vedder and started going, even from the whole night. I think your husband, Sky, I think he looks like Adrian Guerrero. Yeah, that's what most people think. He looks like a bunch of different things. Somebody from Hollywood. That's right. But anyway, so yeah, yesterday I went, and let me tell you, man, I told my wife yesterday, what am I going to do when the hot weather is gone? Oh, no. What am I going to do? You're going to have gardening withdrawals. I'm going to. Hold the greenhouse. I know. I'm ready to. That's what the boo wants, too. A greenhouse? Please. He already has an area set aside, and I just keep saying no. Does a greenhouse work by you just build an indoor place that uses the skylights to generate warmth? Is that how it works? Yeah, it's just it's all made of glass, you know, so it brings in the sunlight and then traps in the warmth and doesn't let the cool. Got it. That's cool. Yeah. Yeah, I would love it. Oh, man. That's the next step. Please. But yesterday, I, you know, Sky's husband really liked the red tomatoes that I grew. Love them. So I went.
to armstrong yesterday and i got some root growth hormone yes nice cut a clipping dipped it in the root growth hormone put it in a little pot and we're gonna try to get this sucker to grow nice now if it grows he'll get tomatoes off it this year he still can because tomatoes will grow till january they'll grow i love it yeah yeah yeah so i'm gonna try to get that sucker going had a blt last night how many times every day in the BLT. I had a BLT on Sunday and thought of you. Mike would be really happy right now. I'm having a BLT with his tomatoes. I don't like tomatoes very much, but I'm forcing myself to like them. I'm going to not only like them, I'm going to love them. I'm not there. Maybe you should grow stuff you like. I know, that'd be cool. Right now, it's just stuff I don't like. Teddy, no. What is it? Did you say? Frijoles? Cantaloupe. Cantaloupe. Not your favorite. Did I tell you that my wife's best friend, Jamie, was able to figure out, she said this sentence and I said, that's the reason I don't like cantaloupe and I've always not liked cantaloupe but have not been able to verbalize it this way. She goes, oh yeah, I hate cantaloupe too. Smells rotten. As soon as she said it, I go, that's what it is. Really? Smells spoiled to me. I don't get that.
Shawnee O'Boy is our sound effects guy. 38 years of age, very tall, wears undershirts. Doesn't wear the over shirt. He just wears the undershirt. I do wear the over shirt. Yeah. Just not right now. Nah, he doesn't wear it when we see him. He never starts. About the 8 o'clock hour we get the over shirt. Sometimes they'll throw on a Hawaiian t-shirt with pictures of the Woody car. Ashley is our assistant producer. And she's got the bangs kind of folded over today. The bangs are not hanging down. No, they can't anymore. Her name is Rita. I like her bangs. Dances on the sand. They're too long. Yeah, you should have cut them. Yeah. You should get them cut. Yeah. I'm too scared to cut them myself. I'll do it. Oh, no. I don't know that. That's a good idea. I wouldn't. Eddie and Rob's Barbershop. Yeah, what's wrong with that? I don't know. I hope he snips. Yeah.
It's not a real place. It doesn't really take two feet. Well, yeah. Absolutely does. They kick and scream. Oh, yeah, they do. Boston Rob is 25 years of age. He is our man about town. He is our, is he? I beg other people to give me the title so I can start using it forever. And nobody can, you know, we all look at each other confused. Let's just face it. He's here. No title. Let's just face it. There's no title. What does he do? Let's not play games. He's funny. That's what he does. Since he makes jokes with his friend Eddie, that's what he does. These are facts. For a living. Professional joker. That's right. And then there is Roosevelt, Zethian, Oates III, Junior, Esquire, MD, DDS, Inc. Rosie. And he is... 23. Breaking news. I don't know what it is. It's until 5 this morning is when it started. They believe it's an overhead line problem. At some point, they're still investigating. 1,265 customers without power will let you know as soon as something changes there. Whenever I see breaking news up on the screen, I figure it's probably a good idea for us to hear what it is, so I'll rewind a little bit. 5 degrees outside.
And we want to quickly want to let you know about a power outage that's affecting customers in the North County, specifically the San Pasquale area, Rancho Pinasquitas, and Rancho Bernardo. About 10 minutes until 5 this morning is when it started. They believe it's an overhead line problem at some point. They're still investigating. Sky, did you ever use the little alarm clock that I gave you, the little wake-up alarm clock? It is in use. Where did you put it? In the guest room. I use it, Mike. I use it. I'm scared of it. If you plug it in, Skye, it's... No, I'm scared of it. Why? You don't trust it to get the time automatically? No, I believe everything the package claims, that it works on a satellite, and if the power goes out, it's got a battery backup, everything's legit. But I need a clock radio. Buzzers scare me. Oh, okay. It's a really nice buzzer. I didn't realize that it didn't have a... a little radio. I thought it did. No, because buzzers scare me. Like the thing with the microwave, like how I can't let the microwave go beat because it freaks me out. Yeah. So I have to use a clock radio. But it is in the guest room for all my guests to enjoy. I'm the same way, by the way. Really? No, those buzzers, it scares you awake. It's a pleasant beat. Yeah. It's a pleasant beat. It is. It woke me up this morning really, really sweet.
It's like a barbershop quartet. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep You can text us at 35253. And the biggest news story out there this morning, KFC's secret recipe is under high security while it's being moved for security renovations. So I just want to let everybody know. Yeah, I just want to let everyone know. Hey, just chill out, everybody. You're on it. I get it. This is happening. Where are they making the move? High security. That would be a great Jeopardy question. How many herbs and spices are in the secret recipe? Because they say it all the time, but I can't remember. Eleven herbs and spices? It's eleven. Eleven. But which ones? Oh, come on. That's the thing. That's why it's under such high security. So I guess they've been keeping this secret recipe inside a locked file cabinet.
At an undisclosed location somewhere in the KFC headquarters in Kentucky. And they finally figured, you know what, we really need a more secure situation. So they hired an ex-New York cop to come in, put the thing in a locked briefcase, handcuffed. the briefcase to the ex-cop who's now doing security for them. He will be in charge of protecting the secret recipe until they revamp their security at KFC headquarters and build like a vault for it. I want to make a parody video about this very subject. And the premise of the video is that the secret recipe is actually being held at an apartment in PB. And it's the scene from Pulp Fiction. When Jules and John Travolta show up at those dudes' apartment. And they finally find the briefcase. John Travolta opens it up with a cigarette in his mouth. And Jules says, we good? John Travolta goes, yeah, we good. There's KFC recipes in there. This is a tasty burger. Oh, did I break your concentration? Say what again?
I didn't ask you, flock of seagulls. That's great. And then Jerry Seinfeld, for some weird reason, is in the bathroom, like, waiting in the bathroom, you know, hiding in the bathroom. Plays Marvin. Yeah, Marvin. Oh, wait, Marvin was a black dude, right? Yeah. He just shot Marvin in the face. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. One of those dudes looked just like Jerry Seinfeld in that scene. I don't remember who, but there's one guy in that scene who looks just like... He's the guy that's fired. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And misses. He's the guy that fires a .45 at them and misses with every shot. 5701053. P1 Akbar is on the line. Hi, Akbar. Hey, what's going on, guys? Not too much. Tell everybody what a P1 is, bro. P1 is a radio listener who calls in, listens exclusively to the Mikey Show, gets straight at the point, doesn't cuss, and gets other people to listen to the Mikey Show. You are awesome, dude. That is exactly what it is. That's exactly what it is. What's going on? I just want to thank you guys for getting me up at 6 in the morning every morning and go to school. It really helps me get going. Where do you go to school? I go to Cal State, San Marco. Oh, right on. Oh, yeah. That's right. The Cougars, right? Yeah, that's it, man. That's Skye's alma mater. Yeah, Craven Hall. Let's do it. Let's go to a lecture. Whoa! Throwing Craven Hall knowledge on us. That's where my wife went, too. That's her alma mater. Awesome, dude. That's right.
Well, there you go. What's that? My new claim to fame. That's right. My wife one day was walking from one class to another and tripped and spilled all over the place. Right there at the University of California at San Marcos. One of the most embarrassing moments of her life. She had little books in her hand, notebooks, and went everywhere. She said it even made like a cartoonish sound when she slipped. Like in the movie. Yeah, like in the movie. There she goes. All right, dude. Thanks for calling, man. All right, thanks. Have a good morning. Appreciate it. This is P1 Suburban Cowboy. Mikey, just some advice on your tomato clone. Love it. Do you have it under a humidity dome? You got to make sure you keep the leaves area moist. Why? I need it under a humidity dome. Well, you put all your other little guys under a humidity dome, don't you? Oh, no, no, no. Wait, wait, wait. I put them under a humidity dome when they're busting out as seeds. Oh, yeah. The clones are like that, too. They are? You want to do it for clones, too, because your clone has no roots to get moisture and nutrients up there. Yeah. This guy's legit. Okay. Well, can I build one? Can I do it with a Ziploc bag, maybe?
A Ziploc bag or throw some saran wrap over a cup. Yeah, that works too. Well, it's, you know, I made a clipping, so it's like six, seven inches tall. Ooh, that's kind of big for a clipping. I don't want a clipping to be tall. I don't know any of this. No, you want your clippings to be kind of small. Because, again, you don't want the plant to be doing too much work. It's got to grow roots. You want all the energy to go to building roots right now. This guy doesn't know. Oh, no. Oh, no. That's Old Man Baker. Old Man Baker. He's a gardening expert, Old Man Baker is. Right. Old Man Baker, what do you got? What do you tell me? What's the deal? You want your clippings to be bigger than my nude balls. Wait a minute. What? He's like seven feet tall or something. Build yourself a 12-foot humidity dome. A 12-footer? It can also be used for football games for the local high school team. Okay, wait. You're saying... Humidity dome. Yeah, right. I get what you're doing. I grow the clipping in there, and high school players can play football in it. That's not bad. It's a little wet, but...
They'll figure it out. Okay. Question, old man Baker. What? Naming rights. Like, can you get naming rights for this thing and eventually have it be something else so we don't just have to call it the humidity dome? Absolutely. It'd be cool if it'd be like the countrywide dome. Dot comers. Yeah, that's right. Sell to a dot comers. Look at you. The P1 site dome. Nice. I like it. There you go. Quick question. P1 suburban cowboy. Yeah. Do I... Do I just, like, cut a... How tall should the clipping be? You know, anything from about one to two inches is usually good. Okay. So, and again, and often cutting off excess leaf is also a good idea. Hey, can I just take the clipping that I have and just clip it and make it small? You know what? I'd say continue with the one you got, and when you get home, take a couple more.
Okay, and make them just a couple inches. I could put them in a little four-inch potting pot and then put a Ziploc bag over it? Yeah, Ziploc bag, saran wrap, anything plastic to keep the humidity down. Sweet. And then just spray it with some fresh, with some plain water. Spray it. Wait, wait, wait. You mean to keep the humidity up? Right. Keep humidity up. Oh, yeah, exactly. You want as much humidity so the plant leaves can take in all the moisture. Got it. All right, thank you. All right, take it to you guys. That's cool. I should have read about it. I don't know any of this. Hey, check it out. P1 Hydroponics, who thinks that I have a, in his words, hot wife, is on the line. Hydroponics, how are you? I didn't say your wife was hot. I said she's beautiful. On my call screener that day, it said, thinks you have a hot wife. No, your wife is beautiful. My wife and I wore... our bachelor party t-shirts around town yesterday to go do some shopping. I stopped by five or ten people just saying, hey, where can I get those? How do you get that? And I was like, hey, you should have went. That's cool. I just want to say thank you for throwing such a great party. That's cool, dude. Awesome. Thank you, brother.
Thank you, guys. Appreciate it. Our text number is 35253 if you want to text us and 5701053 if you want to call us. So, Eddie, I didn't see any football last night. There was two games. What happened and how did players do? As you know, last night's first game was the first game that Aaron Rodgers played as a starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. That's right. The new era began. Yeah. And he did really good. Really? That's right. He threw a touchdown. He ran for a touchdown and had his first Lambeau leap. Oh, wow. Eddie, are you surprised or not surprised? I am slightly surprised. I knew he was going to be okay, but I thought he looked great. Really? Yeah, I thought he looked outstanding. Wow. And, you know, didn't really make any mistakes. Just played like a grizzled veteran. Really? Not nearly as good looking as his predecessor. Well, who is? Brett Favre. Oh, I wasn't going to say that. Brett Favre. But did lead them to a victory over Minnesota, 24 to 19. That's not bad. Yeah. He was pretty stoked about doing his first Lambeau leap. It's cut 49. Wow.
I've been dreaming about that for four years, so it felt great. Big play for us in the game. Ryan had a great run, put us down there, and Coach trusted me enough to give me the ball, and we got the job done, the defense held on. What is a Lambeau leap? I'm picturing a lot of things, and I doubt any of them are accurate. Green Bay Packers play in Lambeau Field. Yep, got it. You know that. Got it, got it. And when they score a touchdown a few years ago, it was a tradition that they jump into the stands. Oh, that sounds dangerous. No, they love them. But that sounds dangerous. It's not dangerous. I don't. All right. Yeah. You got to hope there's no, like, Monica Seles fans up there. You know what I'm saying? Yes, definitely. But, yeah, they jump up there and all the people, you know, throw, you know, spill, accidentally spill beer all over them because they're all drunk. That sounds like a blast. And then they love them. They pat them. Aw. And the other Monday night game nobody cared about, Denver. destroyed Oakland 41-14. Really? I mean, they looked terrible. Oakland did? Like a high school football team. I mean, and that's an insult to the high school teams out there. Like Torrey Pines is going, what? No, we're better than them. Aren't there any shareholders of the Oakland Raiders that can say, this Al Davis has to go? Yeah.
I mean, they were even talking about it on the broadcast that, you know, no head coach really wants that job. Right. Because they don't have any say. Al Davis, you know, still running that franchise into the ground. He doesn't understand how the game is played. You know what Al Davis reminds me of? The mentality of the compulsive gambler. Eventually. eventually, I'll hit it big. But everything is showing you, no, dude, this is a bad idea. This is a bad idea, but he just keeps going for it. Let's see. This one says, what up, y'all? Joey Tata here. This is a text message. You guys hear about Evan Tanner. Yeah, actually, Evan Tanner is a former UFC middleweight champ. And, Eddie, what's the deal? Well, unfortunately, Evan Tanner was found dead at 37 years old. And it's a little bit of a surprise of how he was found dead. You know, you sometimes hear about athletes dying and you assume other things. But Evan Tanner was quite the outdoorsman and went on a solo camping trip near the California-Arizona border and died out there.
Wow. Did I say how he died? There was a bunch of, like, still, you know, stuff coming in. Sky had read earlier that he ran out of water. Oh, wow. Which, you know, obviously this time of year is not good to do. That's too bad. But, you know, he was an avid, you know, outdoors guy. So the fact that he ran out of water is very strange to me. You know, because he even has a blog and stuff where he talks about the dangers of camping and how to be safe and things like that. So pretty surprising. Yeah. TMZ is reporting that he went out, you know, on Friday. And on that same day, on Friday, he sent a text message to a friend that he was out of water and needed help. And that's when they started searching for him but didn't find his body until yesterday. That's too bad. Helicopters found his body. Really? Yeah. Was he married or have any kids or anything like that, does it say? I don't believe so. I'll look into it. But he was living in Oceanside. What a terrible thing to happen. If you are a fan of the TV show 24. Oh, no. Which I know Sky is. I mean, Eddie's still not 100% recuperated. I don't know if we should burden him with this right now. What's going on?
Are you going to tell them or do I have to do it? Oh, my gosh. What's going on? Well, they're going to have to shut down production for a while. What? What? Yeah, the executive producer is dissatisfied with the scripts and wants to completely reconsider the creative direction of the show. Really? That's a little late for that, don't you think? Yeah, so they're hoping to resume production within a month, but they don't know. Eddie, I kind of have heard you say that you thought that the show went from being really great to kind of ridiculous in terms of what happens during the course of one 24-hour period. Yeah, it is kind of ridiculous. I mean, they really stretch the boundaries of what we're supposed to be able to believe. Jack's getting from one part of L.A. to the complete opposite side in two minutes. You could be attacked by a cougar. You don't know. A cougar could come and attack you at any moment. You never know. Nuclear bomb. Nuclear devices, right? Silly. Our text number is 35253. Dr. Phil is sanding surfboards right now in the ladies' room. She's sanding? That doesn't even make sense. Apparently... Is he waxing them? Well, I went in there. He's making his own. Oh, like he's whittling one out of wood and then sanding it?
Yeah, see, I went in the women's room this morning to make my coffee, as I usually do. He said that he got kicked out and kicked out of the men's room because they were using it. And so, yeah, he was in there making whittling surfboards. All right. That's right. Sounds good. Maple. Maple. So we'll see why he is here. Also, we got an email that... was like a brain sprain for me in terms of what would I think about this? Okay, so check this out. Dude and his wife, they take a little break, they take a little vacation, and they have his mom and dad watching their kids. Well, the kid's four years old, and mom and dad take him to Disneyland. Seems kind of harmless enough, right? Well, the dad's like,
You know, there's kind of some things that we'd like to, you know, be a part of for in terms of his firsts, you know, like we kind of wanted to be there that moment that he saw Mickey and Goofy and all that stuff for the first time. You know, it's kind of like, yeah, while you were gone, we decided to really encourage his first steps. You know, it's kind of that kind of deal. And so we kind of want to get your take on that. I'm going to do a little P1 Password. This guy's got new releases on DVD and new releases in general. Got a lot of cool stuff. And, oh, man, we got that North County coach, softball coach, that had sex with a 17-year-old female. There's some pretty crazy developments in that case. Case is over. We'll tell you why and what's going on with that next. Mitch Hedberg in the Stand-Up Spotlight. Tell jokes, and I wanted to do my Smokey the Bear joke in England. So I had to ask the English people if they know who Smokey the Bear was. But they don't. Because in England, Smokey the Bear is not the forest fire prevention representative. They have Smacky the Frog. It's a lot like a bear, but it's a frog. And I think that's a better system. I think we should adopt it. Because bears can be mean. But frogs are always cool. Like never has there been a frog hopping toward me. And I thought, man, I better play dead. Here comes that frog.
I've never said here comes that frog in a horrifying manner. It's always like optimistic. Like, hey, here comes that frog. All right. Maybe he will settle near me and I can pet him and put him in a mayonnaise jar with a stick and a leaf to recreate what he's used to. The Padres blinked the Dodgers 4-0 and still trying to spoil L.A.'s playoff hopes. Welcome back. Before we went to break, I mentioned that there was some kind of strange stuff that happened in this case of the coach having sex with a 17-year-old female. And, you know, I guess this thing had been going on. They were, you know, going through court. What happened, Scott? Well, you know, unfortunately in the last year or so, we've had quite a few cases of teachers and coaches being accused of, you know, being sexually inappropriate with students. So this one is the case out of North County about a coach, not with a school, but a coach of what they describe as a traveling girls softball team from Carlsbad.
So this is this one. And then a 17-year-old player on his team accused the coach of, you know, having sex with her. And so it, you know, went to trial. And basically yesterday the jurors were deadlocked and said to the judge, you know, we're deadlocked. We don't think that we're going to be able to come to a decision in this case. Most of the jurors were going for not guilty, but, you know, it needs to be unanimous. The judge said, you know what, I'm going to have to declare a mistrial because the jurors can't come to a decision. This is the defense attorney cut 46. The case is very clearly about a disgruntled young woman who didn't get what she wanted and made false allegations against an innocent man. That's been our position throughout this. Unfortunately, we were forced to go to trial and the jury did as well as they could by hanging the jury. And the judge did the right thing by dismissing the case. Mr. Fasione no longer has to face this anymore. He can regain his reputation and he can move on with his life. Skye, what does that mean, the false allegations? Excuse me. Well, they, you know, are saying obviously that.
that the girl the 17 year old girl made up these claims because she didn't end up getting her full scholarship to a division one school and she blamed the coach and she got mad and she stopped going to practice and then she started accusing the coach of harassing her and then eventually you know brought up these sex charges and that's when you know arrest went to trial the whole thing um but you know the jurors who were interviewed after um yesterday after the mistrial said that yeah they couldn't convict the guy because they didn't find the testimony of the 17 year old girl credible they didn't believe what she was saying So ended up in a mistrial, and this guy could have been put away for close to eight years in prison if he was convicted of these charges. So all charges dropped, and the judge denied the request for a new trial. So this guy is clear. Wow. No way. That's nuts. Yeah. Let's see. So Sean was telling us how he's got a neighbor kind of below where they live.
that's been doing some landscaping. And sometimes when you do that, you got a lot of workers there and everything. So it's been going on about a month now, and they have a porta potty on the site, which they do sometimes. You know, they got to go, right? Oh, yeah. I think it's like actually a requirement. If you're going to have workers out there, you know, for so long, and if you're not going to allow them access to the inside of your home, you need to provide facilities. So, Sean, tell everybody what you had to do. Well, so the last couple of days have been very hot. And especially over the weekend, it was really, really hot. So it was, I think, Sunday night. And we opened up the house that evening to, you know, let some fresh air in. Wasn't that fresh? No. Air wasn't that fresh. No, it was not. It was not. It was not. Did you consider like an eight-foot charcoal filter right in front of the door maybe? Seriously, it was so bad. So we had to close up the house. And so, yeah, yesterday we had to go over to the dude's house and go, hey, bro, I mean, you know. What did he say? A little respect here. Actually, he was actually very cool. But it's really, you know, it's embarrassing to have to go over to someone's house and go, hey, you know that thing that's full of crap out on your lawn? Right. Can you, like, clean it out or something? Yeah. It's just embarrassing. Did he say how long?
How long it would be? Yeah. He said he would tell them to do it today, so it's supposed to be done today. How long is this whole process going to take? Probably be another three weeks. Oh, my. Yeah. Oh, my. It's a big job, but, man, you know. Yeah, they need to keep that. I don't know what those dudes are eating, but it ain't good. Did you try getting one of those Glade air fresheners? That would help a lot. Plug it in. Not unless it's the size of a building. It's going to have to be a big can of Glade. Hey, what is the commercials? I've been seeing the commercials on Fox for this show Fringe. Oh, I'm so excited. Oh, yeah. Well, the dude that did Lost is the guy that made it, J.J. Abrams. And here he is talking about it. Cut 36. Fringe is my favorite kind of show because it takes people that you really like, that you really care about, that you want to be with and work with and know, and it puts them into the scariest situations you've ever seen in your life and allows there to be this kind of safety and comedy.
in the face of utter terror. And to me, that's sort of the greatest combination of things. I don't understand. So it's about this international flight that lands at Boston's Logan Airport with no sign of life aborted. Really? Yeah. When the flight took off, it was full of people. Right. When it landed, no sign of life. Does it land, so no pilots, no stewardess, no... Well, they just say no signs of life, so I don't know exactly. That's what you mean, nobody. Yeah, and then, you know, the investigation into that. That's what the whole show is? That's what it says here. I don't, you know. What time? Let me see, 8 o'clock tonight on Fox. It sounds interesting. Yeah. That sounds very interesting. If it's J.J. Abrams, he's real good. Yeah, he describes it as a cross between the X-Files, Altered States, and the Twilight Zone. Oh, dude. There's a couple shows that I've never seen and one that I like. Yep. Oh, you've got to see Altered States. Never seen it. Oh, that's great. That's a TV show? No, it's a movie. I think it was Jeff Bridges. Oh, yeah. I remember that.
The poster for the movie had a picture of Jeff Bridges with a bunch of little diodes connected to his temple, right? Yes, that's correct. Aha. I figured it out. Padres beat the Dodgers, even though they have Manny Ramirez playing for them. Four to nothing. And they beat their old friend Greg Maddox. How about that? So not too shabby. Not at all. So here's the deal. San Diego City Council. Yesterday they go, okay. We'll send notices to everybody in San Diego that's a water customer about these rate increases. Yeah, giving everybody the heads up because I guess the law requires that the city notify people just to give them a chance to vote and protest by mail if they're against it. But there's two pending water rate hikes here in San Diego. One, you'd pay an extra $3.30 a month, $3.30 a month, and that's for higher costs of importing water that the city is paying.
So they're going to pass, you know, that on to us. And then the other is this whole is money to fund this toilet to tap water recycling program. Eddie's shaking his head. Eddie don't want it. Yeah, so they're saying that you could see an extra increase of about $1.20 for that. Eddie in Orange County, they say they got it figured out. It works really good. That's great. They're drinking Sean's porta potty. No, no, no. That's not good. They say that with the right chemicals and treatment, that stuff can be turned into very viable, usable water. You know what I'm saying? So if all goes as planned, we'll see these rate hikes take effect January 1st. Oh, wow. Paul Kogan's daughter, Brooke Kogan, they asked her about her thoughts on Sarah Palin. She had no clue who Sarah Palin was. No clue. That is awesome. None whatsoever. Our text number is 35253. And our phone number is 5701053. Don't go away. Because I want to tell you about this group that wants to raise the minimum drinking age. Or excuse me, the minimum driving age. Not the drinking age. I kind of think what shows every single guy, and, you know, what's really cool about this, all the ladies listening to it can all get behind it. I think what really shows all of us guys when we're broken up is that you have your rock moves. Yeah, I mean, that's important. We're like, man, all I wanted was for her to want and need me, but she's got her rock moves. Dang it. Now what?
It is 7 a.m. The California Prison Guard Union said yesterday that they're putting together a recall campaign against the governor. Roger Federer won his fifth straight U.S. Open yesterday. He's really good, right? That Roger Federer, he knows what he's doing when it comes to that racket. Yeah, definitely. He was on a little bit of a downturn. Hadn't won one in a while. And no longer the number one player in the country. That's Rafael Nadal. Came back and won the U.S. Open. Given enough time and practice, I do believe I could beat him. But it would take practice. It would take a lot of practice. Listen, no days off. No days off. You've got to get out there and practice every day. Every single day. So before we went to break, we said that there's a group that's talking about raising the driving age to 18. Yeah, this is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety who is going to present their proposal today to raise the driving age up to 18. They say that car crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers and that, you know, they've been studying New Jersey because I guess in New Jersey you have to be 17 to drive. I didn't know that.
And they say that New Jersey has much lower rates of teenage fatalities and car crashes than other states. And so they say that's a good example of why just waiting one, two more years can do a lot to save teenage lives. Oh, well, if you raised the age to 20, you could eliminate all teen driving accidents. You would eliminate them all. I mean, it's simple math. As far as them saying, well, we raised it to 18 and there were less. Well, yeah. Okay. Well, if that's your goal, you can eliminate them all by going to 20. But, you know, is that really? Idiot. I guess it just depends on what you want, what you're looking there for and what you want and what you're trying to get done there. But I guess it's up to each individual. How about this email? Tell me what you guys think about this. Hey, Mikey, P1 Hoff's here. Got a problem with my son. He's nine, and he loves to pick his nose. And I'm talking all the time. He is becoming the weird nose-picking kid in school. I've tried to talk to him about it, but he just won't stop. We get dirty looks from people in public places. I figure it's just a phase, but as a concerned mom, I want him to stop.
of putting Tabasco or something on his fingertips to help him stop. Any advice for me would be much appreciated. Thanks, that's P1 Diane. Listen, I could, the problem is I'm a nose picker myself, and so as a 38-year-old adult, it's kind of hard to give advice when, you know, you're guilty of the same thing. That's such a pleasure. Yeah, yeah, I mean, so if that's the deal, we have to look to professionals to help us out. I want you to get excited about your lives, Dr. Cohen. If you're going to talk to me, you're going to have to be honest. This is going to be a changing day in your life. Where is he?
I barely heard my little teenage friend. He's a little under the weather. Hang on a second. You told me you can't scream. Really? No excuse. Look at him. He's still here, though. Aw, little guy. He is. He's sitting there wiping his nose with his shirt sleeve. It looks like he's very sick and ill. He wouldn't miss a show, though. That's right. Aw, sweet. But he does have a T-shirt with a picture of a mustache on it. We know what that means. Please. He does still support Dr. Phil. Oh, yeah. I am Dr. Phil, by the way. You certainly are. Thank you so much for having me on to talk about this topic. I'm listening to this here from P1 Diane. Diane, your kid's a brain excavator. It's not that big a deal. Don't worry about it. We all do it from time to time now, don't we? Some just enjoy it more than others. That's true. Enjoy it. This kid's going to be a real winner, let me tell you what. Or is he just picking a winner? Sorry. First and last. First one of the day. First one of the day, right? Either way, let me tell you about it. Don't sweat it, all right? Once he finally gets that elusive booger, he'll stop. I don't believe that's true. It's an elusive booger. It's in there somewhere. Where are you? You crazy booger.
Maybe it's that he has a tiny mosquito bite way up there and he just needs to itch. I sincerely doubt that's what it is. Don't worry about it, y'all. He's still going to be a productive member of society. As a matter of fact, I heard... That NASCAR's Jeff Gordon was a picker. Did y'all know that? That's right. So was that girl that played Phoebe on Friends. Pretty sure Mikey's said that he enjoys a good nose pick every now and then. That is true, right? So it's all good. That's right. Says he eats them from time to time. He says it's a better alternative than throwing them out the window or wiping them on your pants, which is even gross. That's so gross. Too early, Dr. Phil. Pick away, little Johnny. Find that nose treasure is what I say. Nose treasure? Nose treasure. Now, if you really want him to stop, there are a couple of methods that I can recommend as a doctor, all right? Oh, good. Yeah, that's what we're looking for here. You mentioned Tabasco, but I say the heck with that, all right? Yeah. Try something that the kid doesn't like. For example, if it were Skye, put mustard on it. If it were Rob...
You'd put hard work on it. If it were Ashley, a history book. Or an on-time appointment. Ashley, you get my drift. You get my drift, Ashley. You get my drift. You get my drift, Ashley. You're right. Ashley gets my drift. Fairly. Now, understand, I had this problem myself, all right? Dr. Phil, I myself was a nose picker, all right? I didn't even get there with that mustache to yours. Well, you have to part it. You have to take both hands and all four fingers and pull up the stache to the side. That's really gross. But when I first had this problem when I was just a little Dr. Phil, my mother had a very special technique that she used to deal with this. And it comes in the form... Of a lullaby. And I'd like to see it. No, these are never good. Lullabies. They're never really lullabies. There's something like this. And a one, and a two, and a one, two, three, and Yankee Doodle came to town. Every time it's not a lullaby. Performing like a singer, if you pick it one more time, I'll blow off all your fingers. Not a lullaby either.
Well, listen, when I was a little boy, it was just a different time than it is now. We didn't live in such a politically correct environment. And that's actually how I originally became known as Two-Fingered Phil when I was a child. You see, what would happen is, is when I would pick, my mother would tie a rope around my finger till it fell off. Now, it would eventually regenerate my finger. No, it was fine. Ain't nothing but a fly. But I'll tell you what, it works. I do believe that Tabasco sauce on the fingertips to stop the nose picking is a good starting point, but I believe to really drive the point home, you might want to try something new. And what I mean is...
Reward your child instead. It's called reverse psychology. I've used it in my practice for several years. Imagine if the next time that your little boy was picking his nose, y'all went down and test drove an all-new 08 BMW 7 Series from BMW Encinitas. Imagine that. But he's just a child. I know what he's doing. He's doing a commercial. Right. And I don't. We've told you not to do this. Imagine the exhilaration, Sky and Eddie, of 320 horsepower with cruise control. Dr. Bill, you're doing a sponsor, and I don't appreciate that. I'm not doing a sponsor. I'm offering an example of reverse psychology. And I'm trying to remind you that BMW Encinitas is located between the 5 and El Camino Real. You're here to give advice, not to plug it. I'll tell you what, that... Brian Wood, the new general manager, is committed to service and excellence in every category, and they want to rate number one at your BMW dealership here in San Diego. You're embarrassing yourself. I am Dr. Field. What the heck?

A half of a millisecond you feel, Sky, that we will not discuss this on the radio. Even for a half of a millisecond. You heard that, Sean, right? Yes. I'm trying to stay calm, Mike. This is this. You're going to rile me up. This story. I'm deep cleansing breathing. This story that Sky mentioned to us off the air right now is electrifying. Sky, Sky, Sky, Sky, Sky. It's 7-16. Let's hurry so that we can get to this story. What is going on? Jerry O'Connell has issued a public apology after calling his pregnant wife huge while on Conan. Heads up. Fantasy footballer Seahawks wide receiver Nate Burleson is out for the season with a scoring ACL. Go. Eddie, elaborate please on your story.
We got to a point in this story that Skye was telling us, and she was starting to get upset just telling us. And I said, stop there. Stop there. What? Well, as many of you may know or may not know, Skye has been experiencing problems with gophers. Yes. Don't you laugh. They put in some beautiful sod, and their backyard is gorgeous. It looks like a golf course, man. Well, it did. And then it started to look like the golf course in the movie Caddyshack. Because there was a gopher about the size of that Muppet gopher from Caddyshack tearing up their backyard. You know, golf courses need holes. That's right. Yeah. That's right. It's like a groundskeeper.
Well, we've talked about this at length. She's tried everything. On the air, off the air, and she's tried everything. But the thing is, is that she has made a commitment to not harm the gophers. Which is stupid. She wants to relocate the gophers. Yes, we've tried many things. The water hose down the hole. Banana in the tailpipe, have you tried that? Oh, dude, they always fall for that. Okay. For neighbors. Soapy water mixture. What is a soapy water mixture, by the way? It's Shauna's recommendation. Soapy water. You know, you make some soapy water and you put it down the hole. We also try. The blood of a Jamaican. Yes, that's right. Our program director said I had two ideas. One was Shauna said you could either use the blood of a Jamaican or. You can try putting a little soap and water around the entrance. Yeah, we tried the solar thing that sends out sound waves that they're not supposed to like, and that didn't really do it. We soaked cotton balls in peppermint oil, put that down there. That didn't work. Oh, my. That just made them think it was Christmas. I know. Sounds delicious.
We then went and bought this huge jug of stuff from Home Depot, which I guess is like 98% dried predator blood. Oh, yeah. And put that in the hole, put that all around the grass, and I guess they're supposed to smell the predator blood, and it's supposed to scare them, and they're not supposed to want to come back. Right. That hasn't really been working. That hasn't worked. So it's been like three weeks we've been fighting the gophers. And by the way, the neighbors have... He's killed the gophers. Well, yeah. That's what you do, Mike. They don't have the humane policy that my family, well. Your family? Well, she means her and her husband. She does? Are you sure about that policy? No, that's what I thought, Eddie. So, Skye got something come in the mail, right, Skye? Yeah, I got my Dr. Hoshkosh. What is Dr. Hoshkosh? That is the, what is that? Dr. Hoshkosh. Slippers? Hoshkosh. Overalls. Overalls. Yeah, for little kids. No, it's this like all natural facial wash cleansing product that I use that I order from their website and they donate 25% of the proceeds to charity, which is nice. But I have, you know, I have to order it through the website because Henry's doesn't carry all of the line. And got the box.
And, you know, the boo is kind of, I don't know, he has some things about him that, you know, are very gentlemanly. Like, he, you know, doesn't like me to fill up my gas tank. He likes to do that. He has to open, like, every door. For the record, she calls her husband the boo. Yeah. Bunny boo. The bunny boo. And another thing is he takes out the garbage. He doesn't like when I take out the garbage. Such a gentleman. Yeah, he, well, okay. Oh, boy. I'm just like him except the part about not liking her to take out the garbage. I take it out, but I don't have that problem that he has. Yeah, he gets annoyed when I take out the garbage, you know. So I don't do it often, but I got the hosh-kosh bagosh and broke the box down and brought it outside to put in the recycling bin. But our garbage bin and our recycling bin are right next to each other, and I wasn't really paying attention. So I lift up the lid to the garbage bin.
thinking it's the recycling bin. Uh-huh. And halfway lifting it up, I'm like, oh, this isn't the recycling bin. But then I smelled something, like, really funky. Oh, man, this is where she got in the story. This is where she got in the story. Say it. Say it. And I looked in there. Are you going to cry? Do not cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. Cry. It feels good, especially live on the airwaves. I hope I... Open the lid all the way to see what the funky smell was. Was it Rob? It was not Rob. I wish it was. It was not Rob. I would have been happier if it was Rob. It was not Rob. And there was a deceased gopher. Deceased. Deceased. Passed away. In our trash can. Maybe it was natural causes. Maybe it was. Old age.
Autopsy scheduled for later? And I, you know, I got a stick because we keep all these sticks on the side of our house to, like, get all the spider webs. Yeah. Because we get a lot of spider webs. And I took one of the spider sticks and I poked it because I was concerned that it wasn't. Like, fully dead, and that maybe there was a chance to still save it? Well, you didn't give it CPR. Say, Mike. CPR. Hey, come on. CPR. Can we stop? Like, seriously, guys. Seriously. Can you guys imagine? I mean, we had an agreement, Mike. Aye, aye, aye. Your husband killed it? It could have been OJ. It wasn't me. Where were you, OJ? First of all, I want everybody to know I'm trying to find out who killed the gopher. I'm looking for the real killer. Yeah, you and the boo are busy looking for the real killer. Now, granted, I'm doing it on the golf course. That's where they go. That's where they are. That's right. I've been going, hey, real gopher killer. Are you here? That's weird, OJ.
So what did you do next? Well, um... You poked after you poked it with a stick. Gross. I can't believe you did that. For the record, this is where we left off during the break. So this is as much as I know. No, the other day I tried to resuscitate a mouse that my husband accidentally killed. But now I'm rethinking the whole accident of that. Resuscitate. How did you try to resuscitate the mouse? Yeah, you never know. You have Hantavirus on. I had my gardening gloves on. What did you do? Give it depressions? I held it in my hand. He's doing it now with his index fingers. I held it with my hand and kind of petted it a little bit. A wild mouse? Well, unfortunately, it was passed away. Deceased. Deceased. Deceased. Because now I'm rethinking the booze whole story of how he accidentally dropped a block on it. He said he accidentally dropped a block on it? Yeah, he was moving blocks away from our house. I put your cats in somewhere safe, man. He wants to get a little taste of this. He becomes an addiction. He's a murderer. He's a serial killer. Did you scream?
What? When you saw it. When you saw it. Oh, come on. Yeah. But were a little piece of you happy that you don't have to deal with anymore? Oh, Eddie. I mean. Why are you looking at me like this? I think that that's a. Did the tears confuse anyone? Hang on. When I'm sobbing on the side of my house? Oh, no. Was not there a part of you that says. It's messed up, man. I don't like what's happened here. However, that's. We're not going to have this issue anymore. I don't like it. I don't like it, but we're not going to have a gopher issue anymore. You are not feeling that. Doesn't that make you happy? No. You're not happy that you don't have gophers anymore? No, because someone had to die. She made it clear that she didn't want a gopher to die. Yeah, we discussed it many times. Sky has made that clear. Talk to me about what? She's not the only one that lives there. The guy has a voice too. So what happened? I can't even deal with that. I'm so proud of him. I'm so proud of that guy. He took the law into his own way. He took the chains off and said, you know what? We have principles in our home. We have principles in our home. Our principles. What I thought was our principles. He's got some. Maybe he has his own principles. Maybe he should have shared them with me before taking action. He's the man of the house. I'm the woman of the house. Big deal. Big deal to you. We're still dead.
Isn't it? I want to know what happened. Please. I got to know what Mr. Sky said. You're going to be haunted by it. Ontivirus. So true. Chill. Can you have a little compassion? Zero. Make him be cool. I feel for you. I understand you didn't want the gopher to go this way. I don't know that you had an agreement. I know that you had made your point clear. And he made his thing clear. Did you have an agreement or were you both like you'd made your point clear? I don't know. Well, it wasn't like an agreement. It was multiple discussions at Lowe's. He knew how you felt. At Lowe's, like when you're picking up the poison pellets going, no, no, you know what? We're going to, you know, we're going to do everything to try and get this gopher out, you know, without harming him or her. Yeah, we don't know. We don't know. Hey, by the way, P1 Daniel's on the line. Daniel, are you there?
And it looks like Daniel. Hey, Daddy. Every time. So, Daniel, what's your suggestion? Hey, my dad is a superior gopher killer. He used those spring traps with the prongs in them, and he always left the deceased gopher in the hole, and the other gophers come around, they see that, and they don't come back. Oh, no stuffing in the hole, Scott. Use that stick of yours, Skye. Your father is a murderer as well. Your father's a murderer. Skye, use that kill stick of yours. It's a spider stick. It's a spider stick just for spider webs. Yeah, that's right. Well, make a kebab out of that thing. Put it down the hole. Hey, hey, that's a living thing. A little onion, a little mushroom. It's formerly living. It's not living anymore. That's not living. No, I meant, Skye, that's terrible. Deceased. What you did after you saw the gopher. I screamed. And then I grabbed the stick and I, you know, gave it a little nudge just to make sure. How are you doing? No longer with us. Wake up. That is the point where the tears started to fall because I felt really, really bad. You couldn't have seen it. Sky's looking at Eddie right now with eyes that are both furious and sad. He's brought bad karma onto our land.
It's like Indian Micmac burial grounds. Like, I'm going to have to go burn some sage. What have you done to this earth? Seriously, that's not what we're about. That is not what we're about. You have soiled the soil. It's going to be like poltergeist in the backyard. Yes, little gophers popping up out of the pool. Little coffins. Little gopher coffins coming up out of the swimming pool. Oh, that's so funny. Oh, you're so hilarious. Your land is ruined. Yeah, joke's about killing things. You have to have the little midget lady come over and go, Oh, go into the land, little gophers. All are welcome. All are welcome. So, what did you do? Is he alive? The boo? The boo. Have we heard from him? Was the boo home when this occurred? Yes, the boo was home. Where was the boo? Was he outside? No. I went back in the garage and we have a chair set up going from the garage door into the house where we put our gardening shoes on. It's electric. We don't want to track mud all through the house.
What do they look like? What are the gardening shoes? What are the gardening shoes? They're just old, old tennis shoes. Gotcha. You have a specific chair for that. Well, dude, it's like Mr. Rogers. When he comes home, he puts the sweater in the closet. He's got this place where the. He's got a gopher killing outfit away. Can you please? I mean, for a second. Oh, I'm very cool. Oh, no. So I sat on the chair and needed to kind of. Compose myself before going in the house because I knew I was in an emotional state. I feel ridiculous. Mike. I'm listening. I'm interpreting what she's saying. Well, no. This isn't like a Geico commercial. You don't need to interpret my words. Well, you're sounding ridiculous. You're sounding like a jerk. I want people to understand that you're not 100% crazy. So you go inside. I compose myself. I go inside. I hear the boo in the kitchen, wrestling around. And there he is. And I don't know why. I mean, maybe just because I was so upset. But for some reason, this made me even more mad. He was standing there humming, making a sandwich. That was delicious. And it was like. Are you mad because it was a ham sandwich? It had to be. It had to be. First and last.
No. No. First of many. First of many. First of four. Okay, now. So you go in there. He's humming, making a sandwich. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Which may be. My bologna has a good name. No, it would have been. No, you know he has that. ethylon or whatever the heck he listens to on the... On the TV. He has like a rock channel that he listens to on the TV satellite. Rock electronica. Yeah, he likes that type of stuff. Garbage. But anyway. So he's humming to... No, it was a little... It's just the ones and twos. So anyway. Yeah, so it... So I just kind of stood there and stared at him. For a while until he felt my presence in the room. Okay. And looked up at me. I am getting a visual of this right now. Bad. Looked up at me, saw the expression on my face, saw that. Tears streaming down your face. Yeah. Well, the tears weren't streaming anymore at that point. It was more like the. Puffy eyes. Puffy, ugly red face, you know. And he looked. Bloodshot eyes. And he looked at me and, you know, immediately concern goes across his face.
he's like, oh my gosh, are you okay? What happened? I just looked at him and said, well, I just saw what was in the trash can. He just looked back at me and didn't really know what to say. Oh my goodness. Maybe he just crawled in there and died. Could be. You never know, right? Maybe. Investigate. You know, they say sometimes when they know they're going to go, they go to a place. It's quiet. Oh, that's true. There you go. That is true. There you go. So the gopher, who was nocturnal, crawled to the garbage can in the middle of the day, opened, crawled up it, opened the lid somehow, jumped inside of it, and then closed the lid. We don't know. Could have been the night before he did it. They are nocturnal. Still under investigation. Let's review the tape. CSI gopher. So then we started discussing how I thought that we were going to take the humane route.
And then he kind of started saying something about how. One million dollars. That's how much I would pay to have heard the conversation that she is describing right now. Absolutely. Yes. From beginning. More if I have it. Oh. Yeah. If I got more than a million. I'll pay one. I'll pay one. Whatever you want. To hear from beginning to end. I want to witness it. Dude. The opening of the garbage can. Imagine if Skye had a reality TV show about her and the moment that she sees this to the moment. Oh, the hysterical crying. I mean, hysterical. I mean, by funny. No, I thought you meant like, oh, my goodness. She's crying hysterically. She's crying over a dead gopher, guys. Come on. I mean, that's pretty darn funny. That is not funny. That's tragic. That's a gopher. Yeah. It's a living being. Giant rat. No. Okay, Sky. Ruining your yard. Your land. It is. It's a buck-toothed mouse. It's a buck-toothed squirrel is what it is. So? How did he... What was his reaction? Was his reaction like, hey, I had to do something about this. Nothing was working. Or was it, oh my goodness, I'm sorry. Or was it, I didn't know there was a gopher in that time. Oh, that's what I would do. Like what?
No, it wasn't. I'm sorry. He didn't play stupid. He just kind of started talking about how we have tried all the humane ways of trying to get rid of the gopher. And from his discussion with all the other neighbors, they've all had to kill the gophers. Our conversation on Saturday. Basically, right? What was that? We were talking about it a little bit on Saturday. Oh, I thought you meant you. It was a conversation that you'd had with Sky about how you just shit. No, I talked with the boo out at the barbecue grill. Yeah. Just chatted up a little bit about the gulf. What did you say? What did you say? I said, when are you just going to kill that thing? Oh, my gosh. Shut up. And he said, well, you know, I don't know. Really? He said, I'm trying not to. I said, well, come on. Eddie, don't say anything. Did you really? What? You're the worst. Oh, my gosh. How am I the worst? I didn't do the killing. You just suggested it. You just suggested it. Oh, my gosh. Is it true that Aaron Lewis actually wrote these lyrics about... Will you stop? Hey. Hey. Not from you. In the video, he's wearing a gopher outfit. Stop with your jokes. 570-1053. I want to know what people think about this.
570-1053. What? It's tragic. I'll tell you, that's what people think. Tragic. Our text number is 35253. What would you do? What do you think it's name was, Scott? I say Ralph. Good morning, family. I think we all have to do our jobs, and that's what every player has to do. Each guy has a job to do, a coach, a player. They have a job to do, and they need to do it as well as they can. Really, it doesn't change. He played one position. He played it very well. There'll be somebody else playing that position now. I don't have a lot of confidence in that, and everybody else has to continue to do their job, just like they always have, like they always need to. You ever seen a break before? It's called a break. A little bit later in the show, Miles McPherson will be in the studio. He's going to tell us about the Republican National Convention and speaking there. Security, getting him there escorted in SUVs, how he almost didn't get to speak.
crazy emails that he's been receiving angry that he spoke at the Republican National Convention. Them telling him he could not use the word Jesus during his speech. What? Yeah. There was all kinds of things. I mean, there is behind the scenes what it was like with the Secret Service. Wow. All kinds of stuff with speaking there. So Miles McPherson will be in to talk about that in just a little bit. If you're just tuning in. Please don't. Skye found a dead gopher in the trash on the side of her house. At least it had a proper burial. That's right. And it was her husband that did it. Oh. We don't know if it was on the advice of a good friend or if he did this of his own volition.
You mean because Chetty suggested he kill it? The Cheds did suggest that perhaps. The Cheds most definitely did suggest. Hold on, hold on, everybody. The Cheds flat out suggested that he take the gopher into his own hands. And it's funny that Chetty acts like he didn't know my standing on the issue. You know, like, oh, just making a simple suggestion. Listen, he knew. He thought it was kooky. He thought it was a little kooky. I mean, are you trying to break up a marriage? I'm not the only one that suggested it. He talked to all your neighbors and all of them said that that's what they did. That's true. So blame them. I just encouraged him a little. Pull the trigger. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. P1 Gunslinger. Hey, good morning. What's up, man? Sorry to hear about the tragic incident. Sky, just so you know, next time I go out shooting doves, I'll only shoot nine instead of ten, the limit, just so you can have one extra life. You're a good man. I try to be, but the only thing I'm having a hard time seeing is how she takes a stick and actually takes these spider webs down, which is inflicting salmon upon the way they...
gather their food. It is not. Inflicting famine. It is not. Famine. It definitely is not. Sky creates famine. You are. No, it is not. On their land. That's right. It is not. And drought. No. They get plenty. Yes. They get plenty. Don't be worried. Last week, I made it rain frogs. Now they collect their water, the dew from the morning. They're fine. They have plenty of webs that we don't take down. Please. P1 Nicole. Hi, Mikey. Hi. Hi. I have a comment for Sky. She can eat a hand sandwich, okay? Yes. But she'll cry over a gopher. Do you know what they do to these animals in these slaughterhouses? Pigs are filthy animals. But tasty. I know. It is very, very sad. And when I watch documentaries on them, I cry and I say I'm never eating meat again. But then I remember that savory, smoky flavor. That honey glaze. No, she's right. She's 100% right. That honey glaze. She is 100% right. Have you ever tried it? What are you, out of your mind? It's scrumptious. I'm drooling as we speak. Yummy doodle is all I have to say. Two words, yummy doodle, all right? No. Two words. No, she's right. She's right. All right, five words. Yummy, yummy in my tummy. All right.
Shut up. Mikey Show. I'd help myself. Well, you try it for crying out loud. And tell me... Can you stop, please? Mikey Show, hello. What's up, Yoshi? I mean, first of all, who in the first place looks inside their garbage can, you know what I'm saying? Well, she was throwing something away. And then I smelled this crazy smell. Look at what you're throwing away, you know what I'm saying? What do you mean? Like, do you look inside your garbage can when you're throwing something away? No, no, no, no, no. What she said was she was throwing something away and then she smelled something odd. Oh, I didn't hear that. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She smelled something kind of weird and upon further investigation. Yes, upon further review, she found it. Mikey. How can Sky be such a humanitarian but love him so much? That's P1. Pamela Anderson. Even she. Even she. Oh, no. Mikey, aren't gophers in the same family as beavers? How does Sean feel about the boo killing his little cousin? That's P1. Stun on. Oh. And I'd also like to say on the whole meat argument, you know.
Like, I eat the meat. It doesn't go to waste. It's not like it's sitting rotting in my trash can. True. Eat the gopher meat. True. I would. I'm hungry. You put a delicious honey glaze on that thing. I'll make you consider it. Stab that sucker with some cloves and we're in business. Bake it at 350 for approximately two and a half hours. A little dinner roll. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. Well, has there been any discussion in terms of, like, this will not happen anymore? Or what's the state of the union? Well, I was a little too upset to actually have a rational conversation about it yesterday. Oh, my goodness. What must that have looked like? I can't even imagine. What must that have looked like?
So we took a little time apart, you know. When Skye's too upset to have what she calls a rational conversation, what must that look like? The boo stayed downstairs and watched himself some Monday Night Football. That actually worked out for him. I went upstairs. I would do that every Sunday. That's right. Chill a gopher on a Sunday, man. Dude, it would be gopher Sunday. Are you kidding? Enjoyed the programming on Fox in the upstairs bedroom. But did this morning flip on the light outside to take a little gander out there and new gopher holes. Well, there's not only one out there. I don't even know what to do now. Yeah. No. Sky. What? What is the purpose of a gopher other than destroying your yard? What is the purpose of us? To. Except for destroying this planet. Oh, wow. Like, I mean, you know, where are we going to... Burn your bras! Oh, you are the worst. What? Smoke them out, man. Yeah. And then, you know... They're going to keep coming back, and they're going to destroy all that money you put into it. I know. Have Rob come over for 20 minutes. Smoke them out. It doesn't matter. They're not going to care. They have no purpose in life. They're like flies.
No, they do have a purpose in life. To destroy your yard. To eat and to live and to reproduce. To ruin everything that we built. P1 Dennis. That's not a year. No, you guys. Dennis, are you there? You guys are all jerks. Go ahead. You know, about the gopher thing there, it's like the O.J. Simpson thing. You know, if the gardening glove doesn't fit, you must acquit. That is true. You better check it. Mr. Skye's got the gardening glove. He's got the gardening glove. I can't even get this thing. It's so tight. It ain't going. It ain't going. And the jury's like, wow, he didn't do it. The gardening glove won't even go on. I can't fit this thing. It just hangs. Owie. What was Darden thinking? Yeah. That's ridiculous. 570-1053. I'm sorry it made you upset. Yeah. That sucks. I hope today we can chill out and discuss it. He felt bad, right? Well, he felt bad for making me upset. Okay. But I, you know, I don't, you know, which is nice and all. Can I ask you one thing? No, you cannot. You always claim partnership and you guys are completely equals. I say no, you cannot. And all that garbage. I said no. I said no. Thank you.
If he wants to kill the gophers, isn't that his right as well? Well, maybe we should have discussed it then. Okay, I understand that, but we're past that now. We got new gophers, and he wants to do the killing. But, Eddie, I thought that they were a gopher-free kind of environment. Obviously, he doesn't agree with that. He does not. He does not think that that's accurate. He wants to kill. Don't you go dying on me. That's right. I mean, I'd rather trap them and move them, which I still don't like because then you're breaking up families. And I don't like that. Now, Skye, what do you say to that? Eddie's right. It was not working. You don't want to displace. Yeah, it'd be like New Orleans all over again. You're displacing people. Well, no, they'd be like, hey, where'd my mom go? She was here yesterday. Like, that's messed up. You know what I mean? They'd be like, they moved her, they shipped her out, and, you know. Because I do know a place where I can move them to. Don't you go dying on me. In Sky's defense, gophers have not invented telegrams. They have not invented cell phones. They have not invented mail carrier. Right. What happens when the kids go to gopher college? That's true. They got to get used to it.
Now you're mocking, and that's not cool. No, there's no mocking. Eventually, Skye, Eddie has a point. Eventually, the gophers go their own way from their parents. They don't stay with them forever. They're not like my brother, Steve. Eventually, they've got to move on. You know what I mean? Then I'll keep calling and going, hey, what if I come back and I work at Ford's department store for the summer and Great America for a couple of months? And I don't pay rent, but then dad's always mad because the peanut butter's missing. That's all I do is eat peanut butter. That's what happens with gophers. What if the gopher's like, oh yeah, and I know what I'll do. I'll fart on my brother Mike because it's so funny. It's so funny to embarrass him in front of his friends because he didn't have enough to deal with being overweight in high school. So why don't I, when his friends come over, hold him down and down on him because I'm his older brother. Does a gopher say that? Does a gopher say that? Yes, Mike, that's what the gopher says. Well, this went well. Gopher ever throw a television remote control at him out of anger?
You're fine. You're fine. You know, my brother did that one time. All right. Out of anger. Out of anger. Anyhoo. So, well, there it is. P1 North County is on the line. What's up, North County? Hey, how do we know that that gopher is not one that the neighbor killed? It crawled into a yard. How do we know the neighbor didn't do it and then put it in the... planted it. That's right. Oh, the clopats. Hey, dude, this happened to me, man. I can relate. Been there, done that, have the murder shirt. Was there a Nikita? That's right. OJ, come on. Yeah, no, I don't think so. Were either of the gophers blonde? That's right. I don't think so. Do they have little baby sunglasses? Hey, OJ Simpson. He was returning. Have any of those gophers ever owned a Ford Bronco? White. Slow speed gopher chase? That's right. Down to 405? Again, I think we're getting sidetracked here. With my friend AC Gopher? That's right. Did that gopher have in his possession a passport, $3,000 in cash, an African-American wig? Just a question.
Hello, Sky, are you there? Can you just answer the question? Get Judge Ito Rodin on the case. That's right. That little gopher judge just wanted the publicity. Tell that gopher attorney, Marcia, to get a new hairstyle, man. Let it all go, pal. That's one bad perm on that gopher. Awful. Perm should come back, man. I don't know about that. You disagree with that? I would chop that right off. Bad choice of words. Well, you know what I mean. I don't want to know. I mean figuratively. Yes. All right. But not. Sky, this text message says, I would gladly transplant one of my gophers to Sky's yard if she wants to cope with this tragic loss. But the deal is you don't want more gophers. I'm not requesting gophers. You just didn't want this gopher to go to... I just don't want to kill things. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So let your husband kill it. No, I don't want my family to kill things. I don't want things killed on our land. It's bad mojo. It's the backyard. Well, you know what I mean. Like, you know. Estate. Yes. I have 75 acres, Eddie. On our province. Please. I don't want our province to be cursed.

Save that clip. Sean. It's so frustrating because I can't swear. I'm low rent. Come on, let's face it. And Ashley. I'm a good job. No, you're not. I am. No, you're not. The Mikey Show's on Rock 105.3. Back, it's 810. J.K. Rowling won her copyright infringement lawsuit against the author of the Harry Potter lexicon. Former UFC middleweight champion Evan Tanner was found dead near the California-Arizona border after a solo camping trip. Cut 50. That's my son, Jake. Aw, it's a birthday today. This is my wife singing with him, Cut 51. Okay, you start. You start. I'll start. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday, dear. Happy birthday. I can't believe he's two years old today. That time went by pretty fast. It goes by really fast. They tell you that, too. Let's see. What do I got? Last night, Ashley ate SpongeBob mac and cheese for dinner. How old is she? It's not as good as the regular, huh? It's better. I prefer it. Does it come in a package? I only eat mac and cheese that is shaped, whether it be letters, numbers. I prefer SpongeBob. Scooby-Doo is okay. But I do not like the noodles. I don't care for the shape. I've gotten the Scooby-Doo before, and there's an inconsistency in the shape, so they cook differently. I have not found that with the SpongeBob, Mike. Why do you not eat the macaroni noodles?
I don't like it. It's not as fun. It's not as fun. Because I eat my mac and cheese with a fork. And so I like to stab it. And then I get all sorts of cool shapes on there. But the noodles, it's not as efficient with the stabbing technique. I believe that Eddie finds something fundamentally wrong with an adult eating Spongebob mac and cheese. That's kind of creepy. It's the only kind I eat. It's the only one she'll eat. She likes carbs. Well, no, I don't like carbs. I'm in like a carb binge right now. Like I can't stop eating carbs. I cannot stop. Remember for yesterday when you made her laugh? I cannot stop. When she was eating the cinnamon roll and it almost like cinnamon roll almost came out her nose. Ew. I can't stop eating. I can't stop eating carbs. Ashley avoided those cinnamon rolls yesterday all show long. Oh, yeah. Eddie was out sick yesterday. She didn't eat them all so long. They sat on that counter. She didn't touch them. And she wanted to, but she said yesterday was a day that she needed to really kind of be very disciplined. And so she didn't touch them. So then we were done here. We had a meeting back in the office, and I put them on my desk. And right in the middle of the meeting, she couldn't stand it anymore. I beelined. She grabbed them.
They were in a plastic container. She sat down. She opened the plastic container. She broke a piece of the outer sort of ring of cinnamon roll. She put it in her mouth, and she had a look on her face like she just loosened the band on her arm. It was decadent. I mean, it was electric. It was delicious. She was so happy. Eating that cinnamon roll. It was maybe one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my life. And you all know how I love cinnamon rolls. We know. We know. It's been. Oh, it's like my favorite food ever. Undocumented, actually. I've never even heard it. Well, I've blogged about it. I've never heard it. Don't read that thing. One time. You should get with the program. Not even up to one times. Let's see. Should we take some phone calls? 570-1053 is the phone number. I've got to read you this email.
You can text us if you want to. 570-1053 is a phone number, and the text number is 35253. Okay. So check this out. Got to get your guys' take on this. See what you guys think about this. Hey, Mikey, you know how as a parent you want to be the first one to share all the special moments in your kid's life, i.e. their first trip to the zoo, first time at the beach, first pretty much everything. Well, I work 12-hour shifts and don't have much time to do anything because I work at night so I have to sleep during the day. We have a 4-year-old and a 2-month-old and my 4-year-old spent the weekend with my parents. She normally does because my parents adore her. We don't mind. In fact, it's easier on my wife to watch one baby while I'm at work anyway. Well, I just got a call from my mother and she just told me that her and my father are at Disneyland. With my four-year-old daughter. Dot, dot, dot. All caps. Disneyland. Exclamation point. In my mind, isn't it one of the most special things to take your kid to Disneyland for the first time? Seeing your kid's face as he or she sees all the little princesses and Mickey and Minnie. Come on, dude.
Anyway, after hearing the news, I thought to myself, if I'm this mad about it, I can't imagine the thought of how my wife would feel. She'd probably cry. I told my mom on the phone, Mom, what are you doing? And all my mom said was, Oh, whoops. Oh, no. We were bored at home, so Dad wanted to take her to Disneyland. Now, here's the kicker. After realizing that she'd crossed the line, She then begins to tell me to lie to my wife. Oh, gosh. Now, I've been listening to your show for about four to five years, give or take. You're a married man, so I know lying to your wife never goes well, so I told her. I got a reaction that changed my current emotional state from shocked and sad to scared and worried. My wife clearly stated, and I quote,
I'm going to kill them. Oh, jeez. She actually said something else, but I had to censor it here for the air. Oh, no. Are you sure? It's okay. All right. I'm absolutely sure I can't say this word on the air. I can only hope everything works out. It's P1 Sniffles. It does have a P.S. It says P.S. Sky. Ham-a-lam-a-ding-dong is what it said. Oh, boy. Well said. That is a PS. That's a great way to wrap it up. That's right. Post script. 5701053. 35253 is the text. Yeah, that would upset me a lot. I think, yeah. If the folks took my son, Jake, who's two. Now, we got a plan. We're waiting until he's three.
My wife and I talked about it. We want to wait till he's three. I really want Jake to get it when we take him to Disneyland. I don't want to take him to some place that it might as well be Target. And he didn't know the difference. I want to wait till he gets to be an age where all of the stuff going on really means something and it looks like something and he's actually bug-eyed over it. Four years old is that age. What is interesting to me is the... A lack of consultation. Yeah. I'm really... Listen, not only that, I understand that it's been a while, mom and dad, since you guys have had little ones, but I have to believe you guys sort of remember what it's like to have a little kid. It's not like you're going to the beach. You're driving up to Anaheim. I think the parents should kind of know that you're taking their kid to Anaheim, right? Absolutely. I don't know. I mean, what...
They called from Disneyland. See, I smell shenanigans. What do you mean? I think that they kind of thought that it was not the greatest idea, but through caution to the wind. I think that's why they waited to call from Disneyland. Obviously, because that's what they told the kid not to tell his parents. Like, obviously, they didn't want the parents to know. Yeah, and not telling the wife, by the way, is a terrible, terrible, terrible idea. Worst. Not telling the wife. The kids are going to talk about it. Sure. The kids are going to talk about it. You got to let the wife know immediately. She didn't sound happy. What do you guys think? Well, you know, it's hard because we all have parents. We all know that as older they get, like the stupider they get. I don't know what the word is. Dumber? No. Senile, I believe, is a way to... Yes, that might be. And so they make mistakes, and I understand that. And so I'm not... I can't get that mad at them, but that does really suck that you can't experience something like that for the first time with your kid. Because that's really important. Those kind of moments are really important. If you found out that your wife's parents took your kid to Disneyland, Eddie, what would your reaction be? Um...
I would be mad. I would definitely be mad. And I would, you know, I think I would be more upset the fact that, you know, they took our kid, you know, somewhere far and didn't tell us. Like, that's really not cool. Yeah, if they went to Target in Anaheim, it would kind of be an issue. That's kind of a big thing. Let us know you're going to Anaheim. That's a safety thing. You know, I can get over, you know, maybe the not being able to share the moment and stuff like that. But not letting us know that you're all the way in Anaheim, that's not going to ever happen again. Skye, what's your take? Yeah, like, I agree. It totally sucks, you know, that the grandparents took her there to Disneyland. But at the same time, you know, like, I want to believe that they had good intentions. You know, no way were they trying to steal a moment from their son. You know, they weren't trying to do anything bad. My I mean, so I'd be upset, but it's like something forgivable. It's kind of one of those. Well, that sucks type of thing. But what I find really, really bad is the mom encouraging her son to lie to his spouse. That is horrendous in my book. And I think the next question that deems like a sit down conversation like you need to have a sit down about that. Well, I think that it begs the question. So, mom, is that?
Is that the way you do it? Yeah. Tell me about it. Tell me how this works. What kind of lies have you told dad? Yeah, like what's the best way to do this, Ma? Yeah, I think that is brutal. P1Z. Hey, Mikey, what's going on, man? What's up, dude? Yeah, man, I feel for you. But, you know, one thing you could do is obviously you can't undo what was done. And I know you want to experience your kids, you know, the first smile, the first steps, all that stuff. I guess instead of like a planned Disneyland trip for the day you guys had, you guys can maybe take the kid to like a weekend Epcot Center, you know, the Disney World. Hey, now you know that this is not my story, right? You know that this is an email that I read. This didn't happen to me. Oh, okay. I came in mid when you were talking about it. Okay, yeah, yeah. No, I was reading an email from a P1 that said that this just happened to him. This didn't happen with my son, Jake, and I know my parents would call me before they ever took our kid to a place like Disneyland. All right, gotcha. My mistake then. Sorry. No, it's okay. And then, you know, they could outdo the grandparents in a way and, you know, take the kid to Epcot Center and the kid will remember that because, I mean, Epcot Center is huge. Yeah. Now, granted, Epcot Center is in Orlando and let's add that cost up. Right. Now we're trying to outdo the grandparents? Mm-hmm. And they're thinking, but this is a big thing for them and it hurt them. Money...
You know, it should be like a big thing. It sounds like the emotional damage. What if you don't have the money to go to Orlando and to stay at Epcot Center and to afford the tickets to get in? You don't? What if you don't have the money? Well, then that's when you start saving and you can plan for it, you know, and a kid, two years old, two years old. The baby, the Universal Studios, say, oh, there's the Psycho House. Yeah, I'm sure they'll all be just as fun. You can do that. Just as fun. Go to Universal Studios. Just as fun. It's Universal Studios and the Psycho House. Yeah, like, hey, son, look at that. Oh, son. Isn't that cute? Yeah. And nightmares. That's right. Maybe, hey, listen, it's a suggestion. You save up, you go to Epcot Center. Hey, listen, I'll only be... Six, seven, eight grand. It's not that bad. I mean, listen. That's ridiculous. Yeah, you know, the kid doesn't need to go to college, man. That's right. What's the point? Please. Of course. Thank you. That was P1Z. P1 Adam. Guys, this was driving me nuts. It's Disney World. Epcot Center is a part of the park. That's true. It's one of the four parts. He makes a good point. And probably the least exciting out of the four. That's right. I just had to get that on the record. Thank you, Eddie. Okay. It's on the record.
If my son ever saw Captain EO without me, I would be happy. Adam, are you there? Yeah, I'm here, Mikey. Go ahead. Hey, my wife loves Disneyland. And I kind of, we went maybe a couple times growing up. But she couldn't wait to take our kids to Disneyland. And when we finally did, it was awesome. But if my mom ever did that, she would hate my mom forever. She would hate her. Like, never forget her. Never forgive her. I couldn't leave you here reading that letter. I was like, it's shock. Yeah, I mean, when you think about it from, like, what would your wife or husband do? Right. She would, like, scowl at her every time she saw her. She hardly lets my parents or anybody take our kids anywhere, you know, kind of safety issue. You know, even though, oh, yeah, I know you'll drive safe and stuff, but, I mean, if they drove even to Anaheim, let alone Disneyland. And, like, take that, you know, experience away from her. Their kids, oh, she would hate them forever. It's tough when you get married. It's tough when you get married because if your parents mess up, you obviously want to defend your parents. It's your parents, you know? Right, right. But I think that there's a fine line. You sort of, well, first of all, what your wife or your husband says goes. Flat out. Yeah. In my opinion.
What your wife or your husband says goes. Your parents' opinion is that. It's an opinion. And, you know, what your husband says about taking your kids somewhere, that's your husband's call. What your wife says about taking your kids somewhere, that's your wife's call. Right. Because that's your significant other. And you trust and take their opinion over anybody else's. But I've been in this situation where my parents have messed up, and I got to... go into defend mode. It's the worst. It is. It's the worst, but yeah. You got to bite the bullet. You got to bite the bullet. Sometimes you just got to go, yeah, they messed up. Yeah. P1 Bingo. Hey, how's it going? Good, man. My wife, my kid was three and a half, four years old, decides to take him fishing without me and caught his first fish without his dad. Who took the boy? My wife. Your wife. Oh, dude. No mention of it. No. You got home that day and said, what'd you do today, honey? Oh, I went for a walk around the lake and a guy had a fishing rod there and let my son hold it and he caught a fish. Oh, no. That's not good. Oh, that must have bummed you out. What did you say? I was just like, well, that's cool.
Well, we'll see, you know, what happens. I mean, you did it, you did it. No picture, no nothing. So you let her know that it bummed you out. Well, it didn't sound like it was, like, intentional. It's not like she planned a fishing trip. It was like they happened to be on a walk. Same thing. What should she have said? No, you're right. No, sorry. No, mister. My son can't have the fishing pole. Yeah, she did. And then he starts freaking out. She did what probably anybody would have done. Yeah, that one. Just a bummer. Yeah, it's a bummer. You can't get mad. You can't get mad. I mean. I could. Well, it hurt. But they didn't mean to do anything. No, and I understand that. And I do appreciate that. However, it's like that sort of. That father-son sort of thing, those things are so important, man. Sacred, exactly. Yeah, I agree. So important, so important. I agree. P1 Damien, are you there? Yes, I am. Go ahead. Good. Just like to say that my son's about to be five years old in November, and he's been to Disneyland twice without me, basically due to work and different circumstances. The first time he was taken by his grandma, so it's kind of like the same.
Similar situation, but I'm not taking it to heart because I know I'll be there to take him one day. Did you know that she was taking him? Actually, no, I didn't. I came back when I got home from work. I found out he had gone. So, I mean, it wasn't a very big deal to me, but, you know, you are going to be able to take your kids wherever, whenever you get the chance, you know? No doubt, but it sounds like... But the first time is special. Well, not to this guy, though. I mean, honestly, to Damien, not a big whoop. And that's fine. Hey, Damien, listen, if that's your deal, whatever. But you understand that to some people, that's a big deal, man. Well, I'm not saying it's not a big deal. I'm saying to act like it's the end of the world would be kind of ridiculous, especially for this lady, because if she's watching the young one, well, her older daughter, was it? She's going to Disneyland with her grandparents. It's kind of what I got from you guys is basically they're the ones watching her while she watches the younger one. So if she's given up that kind of responsibility to the grandparents, then she really shouldn't be upset that they did that. You know what's a trip? You know what's a trip? If you're listening right now and you got little kids, one of these days, you're going to be a grandparent. Mike, take it down a notch, bro. You're freaking everyone out.
That thought just occurred to me. Okay. Can you imagine? Eddie. No. Dude, one day. No, I'm not even a dad yet. Someone's going to refer to you as Grandpa Eddie. No. What are you going to be, Mike? Are you going to be Pop Pop? Pop Pop? Pop Pop? Who knows? Papa? That's what Jake calls my dad, Papa. Really? Oh, my goodness. Fiddlesticks. Fiddlesticks, yeah. I would prefer fiddlesticks. But I'm trying to think to myself. Inmate number 574. Yeah, that could be. Oh, no. I ask questions to grandparents all the time about what it's like to be a grandparent. They say that it's great because you've got none of the responsibility, really. You know, you get them for a couple hours, you get all happy, and then see you later. So long. P1 Maiden fan. Hey. Yes. The price people are going to pay missing out on stuff when they put career in. There we go. And you know what? My wife and I have three sons. And the two younger ones, we both had to make a decision on what we were going to do and who was going to be there. And we're right now doing jobs that we're not super happy with, but they meet the demands. But we chose that we were going to be the ones to do these things.
And that's a sacrifice. You have to make either, you're going to make this. My wife worked 12-hour days. But you have to make these certain choices. And you know what? Maybe the communication between the grandparents and the mother and father aren't the greatest. There's the key. But Maiden fan. Yeah, brother? You do have to admit that it would be a little disappointing, right? Yeah, a little disappointing. But you have, like I said before, you have to make those choices. Like, what are you going to put in? first and it's a tough call but you know what I've made some changes in my life that you know I'm not doing what exactly what I had planned on be doing that I wanted to be doing but you know I started a family and those are the choices I made and if I want to be the first to be there and I and I've been blessed because I what did you want to do one of my sons well both my sons took first steps and I got him on camera what did you want to do
That's what I wanted to do. No, no, no. What did you want to do career-wise? Oh, career-wise, I was going to go back to school and get into law. Did your wife get pregnant? No, no, no, no. I made a choice. I made a choice that we were going to start a family, and I kind of put other things to the side. And that's my choice. I'm not blaming anybody else. And I don't blame myself now because I have a strong family. Now, brother, you've just got to help me out here. You've got to help me out with making career choices and how that applies to the grandparents forgetting to tell us. Yeah, I don't think it's fair to say just because somebody offers your family help that that makes you like a bad parent and that you've made bad choices. Mikey, I'm just saying that things are going to happen. You're going to miss out on things when you... It's a given. No, no, no. You're right. Listen, I'll give you this. If you're working, If you're a working parent, you're going to miss out on certain things. And I don't think that even the person that wrote the email would deny that. You're going to miss out on certain things. Oh, yeah. But I think that the point of this guy that wrote the email was, oh, man, I wish that my parents would have consulted me. And if your rules apply here, it would be like saying, well, if you're going to make the choice to go to work, then you're making the choice to not be let in on the welfare and care of your child.
It would be like, oh, yeah, I took your kid to get a tattoo. Hold on. That's true. You still have the right as a parent. Yeah, you have the right as a parent to say no. And I understand what you're saying. You will miss things if you work. Like maybe you'll miss the first step or maybe the first work. But those aren't planned things. That's not something that you pack a bag, get in a car, drive two hours. You know what it is? There must be bad communication between these folks. No doubt. No doubt, man. I agree. I agree with you. There is definitely. Yeah, that's true. Definitely. If that's the key there, then I'll withdraw a bit of what I think. I appreciate it, dude. I appreciate it. Thank you, Maiden fan. See you guys. Withdrawn. That's right. We withdraw it from the record. I got two people that really disagree with each other on the line. One person is saying that they think that everybody calling is the most selfish, super selfish person they've ever heard in their life. And if the kids are having fun, that's all that matters. What are the selfish parents? And it's all about the parents. What about the kid? And then the other caller is P1.
What's hampooning? And he thinks these grandparents have a screw loose. He used to eat a lot of natural food. At that time, Tyra, did you feel that the way that your body looked in the bikini was overweight? What do you mean by overweight? I don't understand. I don't know what you mean. Well, I think that the best way to figure that out would be how do you... define overweight? I think we're getting a little bit too caught up in overweight and not my new season that aired. Oh, come on. We're going to talk about the new season, no doubt about it. But you're an interesting person, Tyra. If you didn't answer the question, I'm not going to be put on the spot. Okay. Well, wait a minute. Everybody's got a feeling or something about a typical or a topic. Let's talk about the new season. Well, I think I'd rather guide the interview. But I'm also an interviewer too, so that's why we're better. I understand. But this time you're getting interviewed and I'm asking the question.
The Mikey Show continues. Rock 105.3. That's Tyra Banks' interview with something else. Holy moly, what did I miss? Dude, that was something else. It is 841. The president announced plans today to reduce the number of troops in Iraq, but to beef up our presence in Afghanistan. It was the Aaron Rodgers show last night. He made his debut for the Packers and led them to a 24-19 win over Minnesota. There it is. Guy, uh... I guess he's not that half bad. What's your last name? Yeah. Let's see how well Michelle Obama acts. Oh, no. Here she is in a sketch with Ellen DeGeneres. What? Cut to. He's so, I don't know, he's just so inspiring and everybody seems to love him. I know. It's just...
Like, he's charming, and he's charismatic, and when he's on stage, the crowd goes crazy. And you know the girls adore him. Oh, yeah. You know, he's right outside that door. He is? Right out there. That's the Jonas Brothers, and that was, I guess, Michelle Obama. Maybe you had to be there? It could be. Yeah, I think that's it, Eddie. That was weird. I think you had to be there. In the studio audience, actually. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, actually there in the studio audience. In Ellen's house. That's right. How much do you think a tooth goes for in the Obama family? Wow. I think it's going to be low. Why? Because they're fair. Well, no, because I've read before. Maybe it's change. Get it, Sky? I remember reading before and him talking about his kids' allowances.
And I was kind of surprised because that was pretty low. He pays him in wooden buttons. Maybe he puts a barrel of oil underneath that pillow. It's worth $150 this week. Sky, what's your guess? I'm going to say 50 cents. Eddie. I think in these times, inflation has gone up for the tooth. And I'm going to say it's got to be two bucks. Actually, both of you guys are wrong. Oh, really? Well, it depends on the average household income. If it's over $200,000 a year, I should write them a check for $45. Cut seven. Sasha has three teeth in her mouth left. We call her three teeth. She'll be horrified that I'm at sea. That seems like a lot more teeth than three. You know, there are three in there. Okay.
$3. The Tooth Fairy's been bringing $3. Per tooth? Even a front one? Wouldn't that be worth more? You know, I don't understand how the Tooth Fairy works, but it's been $3 consistently. You have nothing to do with it, so whatever they pay, they pay. I haven't spoken to the Tooth Fairy. I don't know how they calculate their fees. It's called the audacity of cash. Well, Auntie Ellen will kick something in, because I think they need more. You think $3 isn't? I don't know. Actually, I got like 25 cents or something. Well, that's what we got. I thought that was a pretty good deal. You're right. You should get some money. back from her. You should ask for about $1.50 back. We're going to get some money back. I heard they taxed the tooth money. That's it. They did. Well, depending on how much your household income is. We're all funny. Listen, you've heard me talk about this before. I don't think there's any problem with that. I say five bucks you could give a kid for a tooth. Oh, no, no. You guys, it's 2008. Too much, Mike. It's a tooth. Five bucks? Just a tooth. Five bucks? What are they going to get for five bucks? A little toy at Toys R Us. A tiny little plastic toy for five bucks. Teach them the value of money. Three dollars. What are you going to get with a three bucks? They got to save.
50 cents? Eddie, what are they going to get with 50 cents? Do you save it? I would save my money. Like, whatever I'd get, even if it was, like, a dollar, a dime, I'd, like, put it in my piggy bank and, like, save up for, like, a big toy I wanted. Like, it's the value of a dollar. You need to appreciate money. You guys are high. No. No. It's cool. Skye, how much would you give your kid for a tooth? I'm thinking maybe... Gold bullion. A peso. Yes, yes, one peso. Which equals one. Shut up. I'm thinking a dollar or two. Two at the max. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Man. What are you going to do? Safety pin them together, you know? I mean. Just shove them in there. Yeah, maybe a dollar. I don't know. Yeah, teach them how to save. No, Eddie, what do you think? Eddie says no. Eddie's always been very conservative in this regard. Two bits. Two bits. Two bits. Two bits. Two bits. Three cents. Really? It ain't going to be high. It's not going to be high. Whatever I got in my pocket that day. Come on. A tooth fairy needs to be consistent. Really? Really? Yeah, a tooth fairy needs to be consistent. Your tooth fairy was not consistent? I wasn't either. Did it have to do with how good you were and stuff? No, what tooth came out?
I think they value. Bigger teeth, I'd get more money. The Tooth Fairy would weigh it out. So you're all stoked to lose a big tooth. I'd knock my own teeth out. And we all can relate to this, but I'll tell you, man, I was such a wimp when it came to those teeth. Really? Not me. I would sit there for hours. And I would jiggle them, and you know how it didn't hurt if you jiggled them, right? I would do that forever. But as soon as there was an inkling of pain, forget about it. Dude, I would sit there for hours. Hours twisting it, working it. Especially the big ones. Trying to get it out. Yank it out because I'd be so stoked when I get the big ones. I hated it. Wow. You guys would yank out your own teeth? Yeah. My teeth would not come out until they fell out. Really? Dude, the tooth behind it had to start growing to knock it out. Really? Yeah. Because when I would start pulling and there was like... pain and skin coming? You never did the door trick? The string to the door? Apple, tied to an apple. My dad thought that was hilarious. He would do that to me and my brothers. Yeah? It's crazy. What would he do? Tie a string around it and then tie it to the door and shut it. He would actually do that? I would not be cool with that. I did it once and I didn't like it because it worked and my tooth flew.
All the way under, like, the refrigerator. And so I was like, dude, I thought we lost it. Until my dad finally, like, moved the refrigerator and had to look for it. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. So that didn't really work out so well. No way. Sky, what was yours like? I don't remember. I don't think I was, you know, that, like, money hungry as these guys. What did you just say? What? I said I don't think I was as money hungry as you guys. I just let them fall out. Mike. Is she going to let her say that? Hey, I'm not the one yanking out my own teeth for a quarter. Okay? I'm not pulling out my teeth for a quarter. Well, Skye, if that is the case, if that is the case, that's the deal, right? I mean, I guess things, you know, you've developed. I mean, give me a pair of pliers, Mike, and I'll show you what I can do. Shut up. I'll go to work. Be like Marathon Man. You guys are not going to believe. How much P1 Brian gives his kids for their teeth? Uh-uh. Brian? Yeah. How much for the big teeth? $75. $75. Holy cow. Well, I'm speechless now. What are you, Bill Gates? How much for the smaller teeth? $25 for the smallest and $50 for each pointed teeth. I don't even know what they're called, but we call them the Dracula teeth, and he's excited.
You know, he's like, 50 bucks. I'm like, okay. And the cool thing is, and I know you guys will freak out, especially some people on the show, but he actually saved every single dollar. Oh, good for him. Dude. It's like one of those things about knowing the value of a dollar. He's like, no, I want to save it. I want to buy something big. I want to do this. And, you know, it's cool. He's learned the value. Phillip Rivers is like, what do you do for a living, man? Seriously. Oh, my goodness. Why? Why? Give us your thoughts. Give us your philosophy on this. Are you looking to adopt a other woman? Yes. I'll knock my own teeth out. The big thing about this kid is he's learned it a lot, and I heard that you guys were talking about the value of a dollar, and he's these dollars and nickels and quarters. I have to agree with you, dude. It's 2008 going on 2010. You can't be like, okay, this is a lot, so I'm going to make you learn the way out. Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude. Your phone is cutting in and out, and I wish it wasn't. Please call us back because I do want to talk to you. I want to hear what your philosophy is because if you're given $75 a tooth, $25 for a smaller tooth, there's a philosophy going on. Absolutely. Hey, Miles McPherson just walked in. Let's get him in here because I want to ask him, how much does he give his kids?
How much does he give his kids? How much does a tooth fairy give his kids? Yeah, how much does a tooth fairy give his kids? In his house. In his house. So we'll find out. Mikey Show continues on The Rock. Flash! America's automobile craze is making the demand for petrol gasoline hotter than ever before. Hey, Dave from Fox here, and we've got Rich and Ann on the phone who are huge J.J. Abrams fans. We're lost without him. Yeah, well, fear not, because we've got his brand new series. Right, Fringe. I've been checking it out online. Okay, well, you want to fill us in then? Okay, so there's this secret group in the FBI. And they're investigating, wait, what do they call it? Fringe science. Yeah, weird experiments like mind control and invisibility. Really freaky stuff. Yeah, Freaky's right. Take a listen at this. Have you done this before? I have used this technique to extract information from a corpse once. You can do that if they haven't been dead for longer than six hours. Right, because after six hours, that's when they're really dead. Ooh. Pretty creepy, huh? And what's his name from Dawson's Creek? Joshua Jackson. What about that crazy scene when he... Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on, Rich. Don't want to give too much away. Fringe premieres tonight at 8. Where? Fuck. We're throwing a fringe party. I think you just invited the whole country. Uh-oh. The series premiere of Fringe begins tonight at 8 p.m. on the new Fox 5 San Diego. Now back to the Mikey Show featuring Mikey. I consider myself a pretty quick guy with a pretty large degree of intelligence, but I messed a lot of it up. Eddie. I hate killer whales. Sky. I purchased a goat through a charity which will be delivered to a needy family in the third world.
Sean. Don't make me laugh with your insults. Boston Rob. Am I just an idiot? Is that clear? And Ashley. I use a lot of toilet paper. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3. Check it out, man. Welcome back. It's The Mikey Show. It is 8.58. A lawsuit has been filed against Steven Spielberg claiming that he ripped off... Ripped off... Hitchcock's rear window for his movie Disturbia. The second half of the Monday Night Doubleheader last night saw Denver crushing Oakland. Same old, same old. 41 to 14. So before we went to break, we said that Michelle Obama said that the going rate with a tooth fairy at their house is three bucks. Eddie thinks that's way too high. Ridiculous. I think five bucks is fine. Oh. Sky thinks that's too much. Yeah.
Three bucks. Depends on whose tooth it is. Is it Obama's tooth? Miles McPherson is the senior pastor at the Rock Church. And so we said, how about at your house, Miles? What does the tooth fairy give for a tooth at your house? There is no tooth fairy at my house. Wow. No tooth fairy. No one loses teeth anymore. That's right. So did you ever give dough for teeth when the kids were little? Or did the tooth fairy ever give dough? Coins. Coins. Coins. Yeah. So change. Yeah. Whatever. Silver or copper. That's kind of what Eddie was saying. Whatever's in your pocket. Coins. Hmm. And we took the teeth out. When I was a kid, my father used to put a string around it, tie it to the door. There it is. See? That's what we were saying. Yep. I think I figured out what I'm going to do. What are you going to do? So it's a little special. I would probably give them like a silver dollar. Or like a half dollar. So it's like something kind of different. But kind of cool. That's what I'll probably do. What about like a $3 bill from Monopoly? Is that wrong? I think that's okay, actually. Even though there is no such thing as a $3 bill in Monopoly? I know, I realize that. Kind of weird. Throw in St. Charles, you're money, dude. So, cut 30.
It is a pleasure to be here as a pastor. It is a tremendous honor for me to be here. Now, I was originally asked to speak about character doing the right thing when no one is watching. But there's been a slight change in plans. Instead, in light of the hurricane, I would like to use that topic as a springboard into prayer foundation. But first, I need to say God bless you for your leadership and how fast you have reorganized this convention. It really, really has spoken volumes about your heart. It was a little, what's that word, when your mind is trying to match up what you're seeing to see. It's surreal. Yeah. It's a little surreal. I'm like, Miles is speaking at the Republican National Convention. That's crazy. You know, it was. It was kind of like the first time when you saw me on Renegade. Well, Eddie, you were an extra in the background. That dude is a star. I mean, Miles actually had a star. Miles had a speaking part. In fact, it was difficult to even see you. That's true. Don't belittle my work. So let's go back, Miles. How did you get asked to do this? And how did it come up? Rick Warren, who wrote Purpose Driven Life, was asked to speak. And he couldn't go. He had to go to Africa and had a conflict. So he suggested and referred my name. So I got an email from him saying this. He's the guy that led the faith for him.
The Civil Forum, exactly. When he had Obama and McCain at this church. Right, right, right. On TV. Correct. Yeah. Correct. And so I called up, and he said, call this number, and I called the guy, and the guy said, so what is your name? And I said, Miles, Rick Warren said I should call you. He says, well, we are considering someone. We'll call you back. Okay. I said, okay. So I think it was done. I think it made me, it ain't going to happen. And then a week later. which was a week before I had to leave, they said, you don't want you to come and do a five-minute. Actually, they gave me a five-minute slot, but it was really 500 words, give or take. 500 words, that's like a little over a page, right? Page and a half, page and a half. But they say with applause or potential applause or laughter or whatever, it's going to take five minutes. I mean, it took me probably three and a half minutes. But everything's very, very, very scripted to the word, to the second. And every speaker had a script. Edited, practiced, and we'll get into the rehearsal because I had to go to two-hour rehearsal for those 500 words. Two hours. It took me two hours. I guess it could have taken shorter, but it took me two hours because I had to learn how to use the teleprompter because your speech is on the teleprompter and you're reading it. And so the rehearsal is designed to help you read it where it doesn't sound like you're reading it. Okay. Now, I know that you're used to speaking in front of large audiences. There's no doubt.
And you spoke at the sports arena where you look out there, there's thousands of people. You've done big things. Yeah, 50,000, 60,000, yep. 50,000, 60,000. But it has to be a little different when you know that you're being broadcast on national television on a stage as big as a Republican or Democratic national convention. It's a much bigger stage. Right, and for the record, I would have preferred to go to both. but I wasn't invited for the record. I wasn't there to endorse. Matter of fact, when they invited me, they said, we're not asking you to endorse anyone or the party. We just want you to talk about this. I said, that's fine. And that's the thing. I kind of want to get into a little bit of that. There's a few things that I think are fascinating about your experience. I want to talk about security and what that must have been like. I want to talk about Secret Service. I want to talk about that speech that you had to do. two hours of a rehearsal. I want to talk about should religion and politics, like why? Why is it going on? Do you think it's good? Is it necessary? Is it not necessary? I want to talk about maybe some of the emails that you've got. The last question you asked me was the stage. What made me most nervous? It wasn't the people. It wasn't even television. Matter of fact, I didn't even think about the television when I was up there.
The main thing that made me nervous was the teleprompter. Really? Because they told me, when we went to the practice, I got there on Monday and I had the rehearsal on Monday. And it was a room about this size with four people in it. Now this room is probably 12 by 18, I'd say. Like a really big kitchen or living room. My wife and four other people. And one person was the editor of the speech. It was my speech, but they just edited it to make sure it was. Who do they work for, by the way? Who are they? The editor? Like, do they work for the government? No, they're all hired by the Republican Party. Right, they work for the Republican Party. Got it, got it, got it. So 100 people spoke, and one person edited all those speeches. Wow. And each speaker had a coach. And so my coach was in the room, and her husband was in the next room coaching Rudy Giuliani at the same time. So there's a woman that's your coach. She's a speech coach to teach me how to use the teleprompter and speak. Everything I explain to you about what happened is in this. In this rehearsal, we had a ball. It was hilarious. You know, because I was going to have fun. And I love to learn stuff. So it's like, teach me. You know, I'm saying, hey, man, I speak all the time. So let's go. And so she sat in a chair. But in this room, you had the podium, the mic, and then the teleprompter to your right and teleprompter to your left. That little plastic thing you see. And they had it set up to kind of drill you. So they had like a mock one. Yeah, the words were on it. And then a camera in front of me. And they said.
This teleprompter is your friend. This teleprompter is a person is your friend. And that camera is someone who doesn't know if they like you. Really? Yeah. And all the people in the crowd, you ignore them. Then you just don't look at them. And so that's the opposite for me. I like to walk around, look at people. You can't do any of that. You have to go right. And then the words will come up. And every 30 words, there'll be an asterisk. That means you look to the other teleprompter. Really? Whoa. And then when there's a double pound sign, you look to the camera. So there's certain things you say to the camera and there's certain things you don't. And so that's what had me, you know, crazy. I had no idea that this stuff goes on. That's crazy. Okay, question, question. Who said that? That's crazy. That's crazy. I say that all the time. That's Tracy Morgan. That's Tracy Morgan. I love that. All right, so I want to know at what point, because when they first call you and say, okay, you're the guy. At what point is there nerves? Is it there or is it when you learn you're going to be given a coach to coach you through the telephompter process? At what point do you go, oh, man, this is I got a little stuff going on in my stomach. Well, when you get the email, as soon as I said you're being referred, there was a potential of going. Now, I'm nervous every time I go speak anywhere.
Period. I'm never not nervous other than at church. And if I'm not really ready, I'm not nervous. But I'm nervous all the time. And so it wasn't that much different than most other times. Really? Oh, yeah. I mean, to the point where sometimes I say no because I'm so nervous. So that's not, that wasn't. What if you said no because you were too nervous? Never. Okay, you've never done that. But I always want to. And even after I do it, I'm like, you know, flying, I'm like, man, why did I say yes to this? Maybe Gustavo's chance the whole thing. You know, so it's nerve-wracking. Were you nervous before big games or any games? Oh, gosh. Yeah? Oh, yeah. Miles played for the Chargers. Miles played for the Chargers. What is more nerve-wracking? Going into the biggest game as a San Diego Charger or speaking at the Republican National Convention? And by the way, there's not a lot of people I could ask that question to in life. Probably the same. Probably the same. I mean, you know, stomach aches, nerves aches, nerves, nerves, nauseous, nauseous. You know, it's all the same. When did the security begin? Oh, before I said yes. They said we need this information from you for the Secret Service.
and they want to make sure they know who you are before they invite you to come. When we got there to the airport, my wife and I went, they picked us up at the airport. Her too? Do they need to know about everybody in your body? Just name. Okay. I think they got Social Security. I think. I can't remember. They picked us up at the airport in those black SUVs. Really? This is 2008. I think these bad boys were like 2014 SUVs because they were the bomb. Really? I mean, they were. I guess a 2009 SUV is that nice, but it was the bomb. Really? Oh, it was so sweet. And they had like 50 of them just lined up everywhere. But they picked us up, took us to the hotel, cops everywhere, protesters. There were thousands of protesters. And they gave us these lanyards hanging around their neck and said, don't wear these outside the hotel because of the protesters. Right. So we went to the rehearsal of Monday, and I'd never seen this before. Around the arena was a fence, not a chain link fence, but a hard metal fence that they put up as barricades. Like maybe eight, nine, ten feet tall all around the arena. And the streets leading directly into it lined both sides of the street. So you were not getting in. I mean, it was like barricade.
Is that like a creepy feeling? Tear down this wall. Did that give you a weird feeling to see that? No, it was safe. It made you feel better to see that. Because when we got in the car to go the first day, the driver said that he just got attacked. His car. Mine. By protest. They were trying to break the windows. They dented the hood. And he was telling, this is our first. Get in the car to go for the rehearsal. And he says, don't wear the lanes outside. You know, it's dangerous, blah, blah, blah. So we drove. Where'd you eat your truck? Where'd you eat your truck? Yeah, coleslaw. Wow. So we went, and the entrance into the arena, the entrance to the street to the arena was guarded by maybe 20 SWAT. I mean, fully, you know, rifles and everything. We would go in, we'd drive, and they had those. It's like a speed bump, but it's a metal barricade that goes up about five feet high. Really? Oh, yeah, yeah. We do the bomb search, get out the car. The bomb search? They had a dog smell the car and, you know, the little mirrors under the car. And the guy said, listen, you have to go across the street because this dog is not really friendly. I said, you don't got to tell me twice. You know, it was, and then metal detective walking in. And think about it. They're protecting potentially the next president. Right. It was phenomenal. Wow. It was phenomenal. Okay, so.
You, they pick you up at the airport in the SUVs and you go directly to a hotel. Is that where the rehearsal happens? No, went to the hotel, just check in. And then we went to the arena, actually in the arena. And so was this like a fly in, fly out same day or one night stay and then out? It was supposed to be, I was supposed to fly in Monday, speak Monday. I flew in Monday, spoke Tuesday, left Wednesday. Got it. Okay. So you were there two days. So you get there. Check into the hotel, they take you over to the arena, and you begin the process immediately? We go right into the rehearsal. I had a 5.30 appointment. Talk to me about Secret Service on the way and there and all that. Well, the most Secret Service, I just saw a lot of law enforcement, cops, police, SWAT, and then everybody else had a suit on, so you didn't really know who the Secret Service were. At least I didn't. And everybody had a little thing in their ear. So it was a secret? It was a secret. We just were in the Secret Service car. I just know that. So it was a secret. So you get there and they start coaching you first thing, right? That's why you're on this show, man. That's what I do. That's right. That's what I do. He figures those things out. This is what he does. So you get there. We go to rehearsal. Now, wait a minute. You were asked a week before this. It was confirmed about a week before I left. How long did it take you to write the 500 words?
Man, you know, I never write my messages out, ever. And every word. Neither do we, for the record. That's right. We do not write any of this stuff. There are thousands of people right now going, what? We don't write this stuff. That is correct. What is that you say, Eddie? Well. So you don't write it. Pause, pause. No. So you don't write it, but you had to this time. Yeah, I started on Friday. Because for the first two or three days, I couldn't get any time to do anything. And they told you what they wanted you to talk about. Yeah, they had a topic. Character, doing the right thing when no one's looking. That was it. And I think on Friday. on a Friday, started, and I left on Monday. So I started on a Friday and left on Monday. And between that time, I probably went back and forth with the editor 20 times. Now, on Sunday, I changed the talk because of the hurricane. So I had a talk ready on Saturday night, and then the hurricane came, and I said, you know what, I need to put something here about the hurricane. So I changed the whole thing on Sunday while I'm at church. And so I went back and forth with her on Sunday several times.
I fly there on Monday, and that's where now the talk is in the teleprompter. It's in the machine for the practice. And they're okay with it. Oh, sure. They okayed all these changes that you made. Oh, yeah. We went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. What were their restrictions? None. They said you could do whatever you want. I mean, if I was going to come and say, you know, Obama got a big head. I don't think he has a big head, but let's say I was going to say that. They would take that out. But they never, you know, the only time they made a change is in the rehearsal. They, at the end of my prayer, I said, in Jesus' name. And they changed that. They didn't want you to say Jesus. They suggested. They didn't tell me not to. They just said, would you consider? All right. And I said, well, we'll talk about it. We'll talk about it. Because it was in the middle of the rehearsal. And she just walked up. What did they want? What did they suggest? Oh, yeah. To the Lord our God. Yeah. They suggested to the Lord our God. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. I wonder what the, you know, like, why, why would they have a different? Exactly. Jesus is, you know, it's his name. God is real generic. God could be your tree. It could be this. Jesus is very specific. Okay. And for me, though, it's very specific for a reason. Right, right, right. So we went into the rehearsal, and we'll get back to that because that whole issue was, it wasn't an issue, but we'll get to it. So I went into the rehearsal, and we, for two hours, I got in there, and she says, okay, let's see what you got.
And she was real cool. I mean, she was real cool, real cool. And she sat in the chair right in front of me with her arms crossed. And so I said, I can do this. I can speak 500 words. Right, right, right. So I started flowing, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah. She said, stop. And I said, stop. And she walked up to the podium, grabbed my hand and said, slow down. Seven, probably about seven times she did that. She stopped me. Really? I said, slow down. She said, I want you to hurt. I said, okay. So I said. Hello. See, you were going too fast. Wow. I was way off. I was way off. You ain't lying. I was way off. So she spent two hours literally schooling me on a lot of stuff. And then she gave me her book, which I started reading soon. I left the room. And it was great. About what? Speaking? Yeah. Oh, yeah, stuff I know. Some of the stuff in it I do and don't know, I do it and don't know, didn't know why it worked. Now I know. And it's fascinating. I tell you one simple nugget of the book, and if you're a public speaker, if you speak anywhere, this is probably the most powerful thing I've ever learned in my life. And I'm going to take notes. For real. Especially if you're, well, it works on radio, but more in person is that.
There are certain rules that govern a one-on-one conversation. Like right now, I'm looking at you. And if I never looked at you, it would be rude, okay? And now I look at you, my eyes, if I blink a lot, if I'm shifty or if I'm not, you're thinking, man, something's not right. And when you have a conversation with someone one-on-one, you know when something's not right. And it's because they're breaking these rules. But you didn't know they were rules. In your gut, you did, but in your head, you didn't. Those same rules apply to a group, whether it's 50,000 people or 10,000. And so what happens is when you go out to speak to a group of 10,000, 50,000, you tend to yell and you tend to try to look at everybody at one time, look around real fast. Well, the people watching are saying something's not right because they want you to talk to them. And so their rules are how you can talk to certain people in the crowd one-on-one. Your tone and everything has to be one-on-one-ish, but your mannerisms has to be one-on-one. And your eye contact and how long you look at somebody in the crowd. And if you look at one person in a big section of the audience, everybody around them will think you're looking at them. And so the book, the premise of the book is that those rules are what you employ when you talk to a big crowd. And using the teleprompter, the teleprompters were those people for me. I would look at those people and just talk to the teleprompter.
And everybody in the room would say, he's having a one-on-one. Like right now, Eddie and Skye are sitting here watching me, but I'm talking to you. But hopefully they don't feel like they're excluded because we're having a one-on-one. And so in the room, it would be like this. Teleprompter is Eddie, Skye is a teleprompter, and you're the camera. So I would look at him, look at you. I'm not talking to the room. I'm talking to the three of you. And it was fascinating. And, you know, people will come to me all the time and say, well, you know, I felt like you were talking to me. But I never knew why they said that. Now I know. And so we spent two hours. I mean, I was asking, I'm a question asked. I love to learn. So I'm like, tell me more, tell me more. So she slams her book on the podium, says, here's my book. And one of the guys in the room said every other speaker, she told them to go to her website and buy it. And she gave it to you. And I said, that's because she knows I need it right now. How are we on time, Eddie? All right, we're going to take a break. By the way, Eddie, your T-shirt inspired Miles the last time he was in here. You were wearing the Bruce Lee T-shirt. Oh, I got one. You got one? I got a Bruce Lee T-shirt. Eddie, how about it? All right, we've got to take a quick time out. When we come back, we're going to hear what was this like speaking at the Republican National Convention Forum. And also, there have been some emails that you've gotten and taken some heat.
And so we want to talk about that. We'll be right back. Every morning that people will pick on Sky or Ashley or giving Eddie or Sean stuff. Every one of you are great. Thank you, man. And I went to the Mission Boards location. Uh-huh. Nick hooked it up. He found out that my number three spark plug wasn't firing. So I told him, hey, you know, I can fix that myself. But I told him, you know, even though he wasn't able to do the service on my truck, that he has my service down the road for when my transmission goes out. Because he did that for free, right? Yeah, he did it for free. See, I mean, how can you not respect that? You didn't end up having it. And most people, they would have charged you just to tell you that. And then, you know what I mean? Miles has a very unique perspective in that we were talking about this earlier and that he has both played for the San Diego Chargers and.
spoke at the Republican National Convention. Not too many people can say that. And I saw my three kids be born. That's right. All of that on top of it. Very unique. For you. That's right. And he's a senior pastor at the Rock Church. They asked him to speak about character, which I think is a fascinating topic. I think it's a fascinating topic. I was a big supporter of Mike Huckabee when Huckabee was making his run for president. And so I was... getting books that he'd written. One of his books was on character. And so I think character is a really cool topic. And so when they first told you that you were going to be talking about character, what came to your mind? What was your thoughts? Well, the title was Character Doing the Right Thing When No One's Looking. That's what they gave me. So the first thing I thought about is how do I change the title? Not change the title of the speech, but when I say it, what's going to be the spin? Because everything's in the title. I think I have it. Cut 31. Now, you heard it said that character is doing the right thing when no one is watching. But I want to propose to you that character is doing the right thing because someone is always watching. You can hear that it took a second.
where everybody was like now you may not see god but he's here and he's always watching and like a loving parent he desperately wants us to call to him for help so you're never alone obviously they were okay with all of this they know that you're a pastor they know that that's your take on it is going to be uh godly and so that's what it was you know that was your take sure and they had the speech you know from day one yeah But you changed it. You said you changed it because Hurricane Gustav was coming. Yeah, the second half turned into a prayer. It wasn't going to be a prayer originally. But then on Sunday before I went, I said, you know, it's the hurricane. We were expecting like a Katrina. Right. So we got to say something about it. So I said, let me just have the second half of my speech be a prayer for that. Right. But by the time I got there, the hurricane was gone. It was poof. But I couldn't change it again. And so I had it. Stuck with it. And it was fine. I mean, I was happy with it. So the civil forum was where they got Obama and McCain together. They isolated John McCain so they couldn't hear any of the questions that were being asked to Obama. They ask him all these questions. And then they bring McCain out and he gets asked the same exact questions. And you just see what you think of what the two of them say.
And this is an event for the listener. This happened a month ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. This happened. We talked a lot about it when it happened. And this was on CNN. I think CNN hosted it. And it took place at a church called Saddleback Church in... Up in Saddleback. Right. Orange County. And it took place at Rick Warren's church. And Rick Warren conducted the interview. Now, my question for you is, man, people start to get a little antsy. When politics and religion come together, which I can understand. Those are two topics that get people fired up. It doesn't matter who you are. Those are two topics that get people fired up. So what is your take on religion and politics? You know, when I was at the RNC, I had three interviews before I spoke. And one of them almost made me a little late. I wouldn't have missed a talk, but it was late for my one-hour call.
And the question, it was with Newsweek magazine, the guy asked me this question. Yeah, interviewed by Newsweek. Yeah, it was on the Internet. It was like their Internet thing. It was by the editor of Newsweek. And one of the questions he asked me was religion and politics. I said, well, look, every person on the planet Earth is a person of faith. Everybody exercised faith every day, whether it's breathing or faith in gravity. The most common exercise of faith is love. When you tell somebody you love them or when you love someone, that is an exercise. That is an act of faith. How do you know you love someone, and how do you know they love you? You trust. You feel it. It's just like God. God is love. And so we are creatures of faith. We are made that way. And so everybody exercises faith in politics. You believe in the democratic philosophy. You believe in evolution. I mean, Hitler's faith was an evolution in survival of the fittest, so he killed all the Jews, or tried to. And so everybody has faith. And no matter who you are, you are making all your decisions based on what you believe. Now, so the issue is not whether having faith in God is having faith is legitimate. It's whether we want to choose what you can have faith in. And so when someone says, well, religion shouldn't be in politics, you say, why? Well, I have faith in something. You have faith in something. What makes what you have faith in legitimate what I have faith in not? And so even atheists have faith. They believe that there's no God, but so they believe in themselves.
And by the way, I heard a stat a few months ago that 21% of atheists believe that there's a God. I don't know how you can be an atheist. I thought that atheism meant you don't believe it. I know. I know. I know. That's the point. Well, that's like 21% of vegetarians love chicken. Exactly, exactly. Or love meat. Actually, she's sitting in the next room. Ashley claims to be a partial vegetarian. Maybe they're a partial atheist. But she loves carne asada burritos. I mean, and I'm not hating on atheists. I'm just saying even they believe. But my point is that everyone believes in something. So now. We're now just deciding on what you have a right to believe in. And if you say you can't believe in something, you're asking someone to deny the beliefs. Why is that fair? Sure. And so I just think the argument is bogus. So in other words, hey, listen, it's going to be there no matter what anyway. There's no, you know, people are going to believe in something. Yeah, well, one of the questions they asked me was, you know, should we look into the...
to the background and all the politicians and what church they go to, I says, you can do that, but you also need to look into do they read pornography? Or their parents, you know, what kind of parents did they have? Was their dad an alcoholic? Because all that stuff's going to affect how people make decisions. And it's all important. So what's dangerous is when you start to pick and choose which one is, we want to eliminate that, but we don't want to eliminate that. And so, you know, love is based on truth. And we don't want to make decisions based on emotion. Oh, I hate that. I hate that. Well, you know, our emotions change every day. What are the facts? So anyway, I was having that discussion with a guy and I had to leave. I had to meet at 6.20 to be for my 7.20 talk. And I told the Newsweek guy, I have to leave here at 6.10 because I have to walk 10 minutes. I don't even know where I'm going. So please provide somebody to take me to date four. I have to be there at 620. So I'm having this discussion about religion and politics. It's 615. And I said, listen, I would love to keep talking. I got to go because I got to go talk. And the girl who was to take me to the gate, she was like 18 years old. I said, do you know how to get to the gate before? She looks at me and goes, I think so. So to make a long story short, she walks me 100 yards in the wrong direction. We got to turn around. So anyway, I end up getting there.
As soon as I get there, they say, we need you right now. And I said, can my wife come? They said, nope, your wife got to go to her seat. I'm like, I need mom. I love it. All right, so talk to me about you've gotten some pretty angry emails about speaking there. Yeah, you know, I probably, I mean, there may have been 100 emails and maybe, you know, 10, 15 of them were people saying, I don't think you should have gone. I'm not coming back to the church. Wow. You know, how could you, you know, you know, that kind of stuff. I'm ashamed. But you're never going to please everybody. When I got invited, I got counsel from three people who, should I go? And they said, well, look, three things. It's an honor to be asked. There are positives and negatives, but you should go. And so when you get there, just make it clear you're going there for, you know, you're not going there to endorse anybody, which I never did when I was there.
And but, you know, going there implies something. That's why I wanted to go to both. But I didn't. So, you know, but, you know, people are adults. If you if you're going to vote for Democrats, me going there, if me going there is going to rock your world, I mean, there's big issues, you know. And plus, I have to vote for somebody. And, you know, people think, you know, one party or the other party is like God. You know, we have to have our our our at least from my perspective. God is bigger than politics, and he doesn't belong to either party. And people, one party or another is not going to fix our problems. They may facilitate the fix, but our issues are way bigger than that. You'd have gone to the Democratic National Convention if they invited you. I would have preferred to go to both. Listen, they're asking me to come talk about character. Now, if they would have said, we want you to come here and endorse this person, I would have said no on both. But if they said, we want to come talk about God or talk about, why wouldn't I go? What's the heat? What is the problem? What's the heat? What's the problem? What was the problem with you speaking? Oh, you mean from these emails? Yeah, what are they upset about?
believe in the democratic party and they believe the republicans are just the devil so why would you go there number two like they're the corporate the man the yeah look at it like oh you know mccain wants to keep a war going you know how could how could you know miles and the church you know support that or or you know obama is you know he's gonna make the environment better and if miles really loves the planet then you know people will do that kind of stuff uh I'm sure that's not what they said, but I'm sure that's what they're thinking. Our church is very young, very multi-ethnic, and they're saying your Republican Party is not. Well, that's irrelevant. That means I won't go to somewhere where it's predominantly white. Well, that's ludicrous, of course. And some people are very pro-democratic party, and they're very passionate about it. Me going to the other one is kind of a slap in their face because I'm going to something they oppose. Well, of course, you can't please everybody. And my calling, I belong to God. And I even told my church this Sunday, I don't belong to the Rock Church. I belong to God. God has me here for as long as he's going to have me here. But I belong to him. I got to do what he says. In the end, I got to bow down to him, not people. I think people put a lot of expectations on other people to do certain things. And when they don't, it lets them down.
But, you know, I have to respectfully reject that and just do what God tells me to do. I got a whole line on expectations. Expectations are resentments under construction. I believe that. If you have an expectation, it can very easily turn into resentment. So there shouldn't be the expectations. Lower the expectations. Then it won't be so bad. Miles, this was interesting, man, learning about how this stuff works behind the scenes. I want to say one more thing, because someone wrote on the blog that I changed the speech, and I did say in Jesus' name. When I was in the rehearsal, we never really got to change my speech back to say in Jesus' name. And the teleprompter lady left before we finished talking. And so I never changed it. So I said to the lady, look, it's still in there. She says, look, that's just a suggestion, you know. It's your speech if you want to change it. Because someone read the speech online and said, I didn't say that. And they said, well, he must have changed it. Look, he didn't listen to what they said. And that's not really the case. So I just wanted to clear that up. So you didn't end up taking her suggestion? No. No, and it was a suggestion. And I even asked her. I said, look, you're not. She said, no, you're not fortunate to do that. Yeah, but he's saying the transcript.
reflected the change. So if you just read the transcript and you didn't actually hear him speak, you think he made the change. Got it, got it, got it. And even the first thing I said when I first came out, I said, how are you doing? It's a pleasure to be here. That was all backwards from what the script was because I was so excited. I was like, you know. It's funny because at the Rock Church, Miles will come out and the first thing he says when he comes out is, who's a man? And, yeah, I guess that crowd may not know exactly how that goes down and everything. So that's cool. That's cool. Hey, listen, Miles, it's a pleasure, man. It's interesting hearing how that stuff works behind the scenes. Oh, yeah. And Secret Service, all that stuff. That's very cool, man. Excuse me, man. What's next? Like the Academy Awards? The Super Bowl? I mean, where are you going to be next? Post it. I'll keep y'all posted. Oh, look at this. Nice. Back after this. Key Show is on. Imagine this. When was the last time you checked the air pressure in your tires? Can't remember?
then it's definitely been too long. Did you know even tires in good shape can lose about one pound of pressure a month? And underinflated tires make your engine work harder, lowering your mileage. But don't overinflate them. You can usually find the recommended tire pressure on a sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. And speaking of air, air conditioning is not so hot for your car's mileage either. Whenever you turn it on, it puts an added strain on your engine. Now, at highway speeds, it's probably better to use the A.C. rather than roll down the windows because of the aerodynamics. But around town, enjoy the fresh air. And that's another great way to get the most out of your Chevron with Tecron. Learn more mileage tips by visiting chevronwithtecron.com. Why, hello, you're listening to KIOZ San Diego. That's absolutely fantastic. Welcome back. Oh, thanks. It's nice to be back. P1 Sean texted and said that their kids get $5 for the Tooth Fairy. Tooth Fairy is a $5 giver. This is interesting. Mikey, my parents gave me $100 for one tooth. You know what? Grow up. Get a job. Please. Hey, Mikey, I agree with you. All others are very cheap when it comes to the Tooth Fairy. I give my kids at least $10. A tooth, you can't buy anything for $3.
That's P1J. I agree, Jay. Well, you can get these days. That's the point. That's the point. Yeah. You need to let it accrue. You got to kind of mess with their head a little bit. No one's saying that. Huh? Uh-uh. This one's going back to the topic of the parents that took the kid to Disneyland without asking. Or the grandparents that took the kids to Disneyland without asking. This one says, my parents cut my son's hair while they were watching him. Rebecca would fly. My wife. Could you imagine? She'd lose her mind. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Lose her mind. She's been growing those locks for that little boy. You've got model hair. Well, you already cut, you know, she already cut it. It's grown back, you know. Yeah. Now it's long again. I don't know, Esther. You might want to think about it. No. Yeah, I would like to cut it because. Oh, really? Yeah, just. You're over it? Well, when we give them a bath. It goes in his eyes. He doesn't care. I don't know why I'm saying that. He doesn't. I just am like, oh, I don't want water to go in his eyes. He doesn't even care. The water burns. Yeah, man. It's called no more tears. I know. It doesn't even bother him. I just freak out about it. Let's see. Michelle Williams says that she's decided to take a year off from Hollywood. Didn't she just take a year off?
Isn't that the chick that played Shirley on Laverne and Shirley? I mean, she's taken 27 years off, hasn't she? What is she talking about? No, this is Heath Ledger's ex. Oh, that one. Yeah. What has she been in since Brokeback? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know exactly what she's been doing, but she kind of made it official. Dawson's Creek, the movie. Come on. Never hear of it. They're all busy right now. But Michelle did an interview with the New York Times where she says she thinks she's going to take a year off. She's kind of stopped feeling creative a while ago, and she's just now realizing, you know what, I probably need to take some time. Noel Gallagher, he's the guitar player for Oasis, got attacked on stage over the weekend. Rob's instant reaction. That is awesome. My birthday wish came true, finally. All those years. And, of course, you know, with the magic. That's what Rob wishes for when somebody brushes an eyelash off his face. Damn you, Noel Gallagher. I'll get you.
You're my wonder wall. With the miracle of YouTube, of course, the video of this attack was immediately on the internet. It was Sunday night at a festival in Toronto. They were about a minute into the song Morning Glory when a guy came from the side of the stage and shoved him into his monitor and then attempted to move over to his brother, the singer, Liam. And that's when security jumped in, but Liam was so mad that Liam's trying to fight him, and now security's having to hold Liam back. And it was just a debacle. Somebody beat up Coldplay. They took him to the hospital for possible fractured rib and ligament damage. But, dude, if you see it, like, he totally tackles him, man. It's like, takes him completely out. Oh, he really shoves him. So I said, possible fractured rib and ligament damage. Oh, my. I'm watching the video right now. And he's a big dude. He's 47 years old, the dude who attacked him. 47? He's at an Oasis concert? First of all, this 47-year-old is dressed like an 18-year-old. Is he? He's got baby doll tee on? Yeah.
I mean, come on. Dude, it may be time to retire the Oasis concerts anyway for you. You know what I mean? Yep, I'm flying through the air. This is not good. Let's see. In Las Vegas, the judge told the jury pool, listen, don't punish OJ in this trial for stuff in the past. Come on now. Let's be fair. Let's give him a break. You've been acquitted. That's right. How can you? I want to try on another glove and it's not going to fit me. Yeah, well, the case that's going on in Vegas right now is from the robbery-kidnapping thing that had to do with his memorabilia where him and some boys busted in a hotel room because they claimed the stuff was stolen. Check it out. The Heisman Trophy doesn't fit. Yeah. Oh, look, I can't hold it. Yeah, so if O.J. is found guilty on all the counts he's up against right now, he can get life in prison.
So this is a very important trial. So the judge, they're trying to pick jurors right now. Yeah, but I'm rushed for 2,000 yards. They're trying to find jurors who don't have a bias against OJ and who are... Yeah, right. Yeah, what did he say? I'll rush for 2,000 yards. Hello. You say that all the time. Yeah, kind of a couple trippy seasons with the 49ers, too. Don't even hope nobody even remembers that. That's right. Yeah, so the judge told the jury to pull. I was in the naked gun. That's right. That is true. Ran to an airport with Samsonites. The judge said, quote, if you think you're here and you're going to punish Mr. Simpson for what happened in Los Angeles back in 95, this is not the case for you. Brentwood, to be exact. And by the way, Judge, why'd you have to say anyway? Nobody even remembers that. Why'd you even bring that up? Nothing happens to you. What else are you going to bring up? Towering Inferno? Yeah. I hope you don't bring that up.
I was actually really good, and they just released a criterion version of it. That's right. I do the commentary from jail. That's right. Probably okay. It's like a big echo when I do the commentary. That's weird. Sky has a list of six dream jobs that every guy wants. Oh. Oh. Awesome. NFL head coach. Ooh, yeah. No. NFL player. Football player. Owner of any sports team. Middle linebacker. Nothing to do with sports or football. Well, then this is a dumb list. Okay. Stockholm. Is it chick related? Line trainer. NASCAR driver. Stock car driver. No, I said no sports. I mean, what part of that? Owner of an NBA franchise. Owner of a lonely heart. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got to say it like this. You don't have to. You have to. You have to. You have to say it like that. Let me check the list, Mike. No, I only have to say one thing to that. Yes. Yeah. I get it. You get it? Yes. Ashley did not get it. Ashley did not get it. She's too young. What about like a roadie for like a cool band? Yeah. What about being a cool band? Yeah. No.
Heck, what about B-Rob's job? The easiest job in radio. Yeah, my job. All right, get the check. He shows up every day. We pay him. Yeah, he actually takes the check into the bank. No direct deposit. You have to. No direct deposit. You don't have to. You have to. Too many mistakes. Never. Well, he doesn't know because he's never done it. Have you ever had a mistake? Never. I've never had a mistake. I've had it for like 10 years. Never had a mistake. Not once. Give us a hint. Like, what's going on? Okay. Gopher killer. That's callback. It's a callback. I think it's too soon. When will it not be too soon? When will it be okay to make gopher jokes? No. So just to give you an idea of what we're dealing with, number six on the list. is a comic book guru. They say the entry-level pay to work for a comic book company is about $20,000. Video game tester. Video game designer, number five. Salary starts around $25,000 with high growth potential. Oh, food tester. Beer tester. Oh, well, you're close on two. Number three, an ice cream creator.
This is really stupid. The average food scientist makes over $56,000 a year. A food scientist? I got it. Like you create different flavors of ice cream or, you know, scoop up a cinnamon roll. How about Mexican fountain salesman? Well, he's coming up with different ways that you could be. But he's obviously coming after me. That is a dream job. How about cheaply made Mexican fountain salesman? Oh, Kaiser hotline operator. Mike, you see what he's doing to me? That is not acceptable. A ham glazer. Oh, yes. Well, that's a dream job for anyone, Rob. Yeah. You got something in your eye? Yeah, something bad in my eye. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie, hang on a second. We're getting some, I'm getting some stuff. Eddie's IM is not up. And there's some pretty important stuff going on. You got to sign on your IM. And I can't take a break. Do you want to write a note? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Send that to me. Send it to Rob. Robbie Shades. Because I read that and I'm like, man, I thought that was the deal. Okay.
Well, Rob was close. Brewmaster is number one on the list of a guy's dream job. More than anything sport related? There's not even any sports on here. That's impossible. Dumb. So a brewmaster, they say their salary is between $30,000 and $60,000 a year. There's just two that you guys didn't get. Number four, a toy creator, about $57,000 a year. And then number two would be a casino host. where you start at $15 an hour. Hmm. So that's, according to them, the six dream jobs that every guy wants. We have some stuff kind of going on off the air that's kind of important. Okay. Is it involving the show? It is involving the show. Oh, okay. And it's interesting stuff. And we're pretty much... Oh, I tell you, we do have new releases. You want to see them for tomorrow? Let's do new releases. Okay. Let's do new releases. Are you going to send it? Who's supposed to send it? Yeah. Ashley's supposed to send it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Send what you sent me. I already deleted it. Okay. Yeah. What? I already told her I deleted it. What did you tell her? That Rob is going to be corresponding with her about it. Okay. What? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Read now. Read what? Your IM.
Who sent him an IM. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I sent it wrong. Sorry. Who's Spider? There you go, there you go. You said Spider. You said Spider. All right, let's do new releases. Okay, new video games out today. We have a couple hockey games. We have NHL 2K9 for the Wii. And we also have NHL 09 for Xbox 360. Let's see. We have TNA Impact for Xbox 360. I guess a wrestling game. Yakuza 2. Yakuza. Yakuza. Yakuza. Whatever. Yakuza. What did you say? Yakuza or something. Wow. I don't know.
Did she really mean Yokozuna? No, she meant Yakuza. Yakuza. I was close. She had a couple of vowels. Whatever I said, I was pretty darn good. I think Eddie had pretty good advice, though. I did. He said, sound it out. I did. I know. That's what I do. What did you say? I don't know. But it was close to Yakuza. Spider. Anyway, we have Zoids Assault for Xbox 360, Dragon Ball Z Trilogy for PS2, Active Life Outdoor Challenge for the Wii. Hell's Kitchen for the Wii, and The Price is Right for the Wii. Oh, I can't wait. Hell's Kitchen, like the TV show? Uh-huh. How does it work? Take on the role of an aspiring chef working under the gaze of Chef Gordon Ramsay. Donkey. In this game, inspired by the TV show. Oh, I gotta get that. Featuring unlockable recipes. He yells at people. He yells at people in the video game? He leans in and says...
You're pathetic. You're a phony. You're adopted. Okay, new music out today. Jessica Simpson's country CD is out today. It's called Do You Not. Let's see. Where is it? Where is it, Ash? Front page in white. Bottom right, kind of. Just come on over. Remix. I can't get mad at that song. I don't think Sean likes it. He's hitting the sound effects that he don't like it, but I thought it sounded for country music. I think it sounds all right. Sean's out. I was reading this morning. I think it was Good Morning America. One of those shows was having Jessica Simpson out there to perform. Good Morning Tucson. I saw it too. And they blocked off all these streets and put up all these barriers. Janet Skyler.
Yes, it was Jan and Skyler on Channel 5. They are really good together. So they blocked off all the streets, got all ready, and they say about 50 people showed up. Oh, come on. They said it was so embarrassing that they didn't even do any crowd shots because, like, so few people showed up. That's pretty embarrassing. Yeah, that is. That's embarrassing. Okay, also out today we have the gym class heroes with the quilt. Yeah! We didn't get a cut for you, Mike. I'm sorry. But yeah, Gym Class Heroes, a new CD out today. I'll have their CD tomorrow, I'm sure. So we'll listen to a couple of clips. Did you pre-order it? Yeah, I got it. Yeah, I pre-ordered. So it usually arrives the same day. Well, I'm also on GymClass.com. Yeah, well, it's important. With his first solo album, we have Brian Head Welch with Save Me From Myself. Is he singing? We interviewed Brian. Brian is... He, like, got saved and everything, but he's still making music that has that real heavy sound. What a trip. Are they listing it as Christian music? Or how are they listing it? Like rock? I don't know. I found it under new releases. But, you know, in the description of it. File it under terrifying. Yeah. It's under the scary category. Yeah.
I ain't listening to that. Amen, brother. Listen, I will say it's a little different than third day, but it's not much to each their own. It's about a note off. We got a new Friday song. That's right. We play this song every Friday. Hope to everybody. Folks, really try to listen to the lyrics to this one. I hope the song stops. Seth is crying. That was way before he started playing it. That's who got kicked off of Big Brother last night. All right, with a new album out today, we have LL Cool J with Exit 13. Yeah, we do. Yeah, we do, Mike. Yeah, we do. You can't just rhyme it whatever. It has to make sense. Yeah, man, dingo. Daddy ain't mad at it.
Would anybody like an icebreaker? They're sours. Would anybody like an icebreaker? They are sour. He gave me one yesterday, and I didn't believe them. Only if you throw it to me. Here. Open your mouth. Oh, gosh. Ew, ew, ew. So close. One more? Yeah, yeah. One more try. One more try. Oh, yeah! Sky, you want one? Throw it. I'm very sour. That's pineapple. And our final new CD out today is Natalie Cole with Still Unforgettable. Are you kidding? Oh, I love it. Yes. No. This is my grandpa's favorite artist. Who's the audience, honestly? My grandpa. Okay, but your grandpa's not buying music, really, is he? Well, he passed away. No. Simply reminds me. Okay. So would you buy this? The Mac is cooking. I love this kind of music. Yes, I plan on buying it later today. Wait. Wait. Why are you whistling? Oh, John McCain. Oh. I'd rather hear. Fancy, you sort of. It's a very romantic song. Really sexy. Yeah, for lovers. Real sexy. It's a song for lovers, yeah. Okay, so that's our new music out today. Now we have new DVDs today. You do. Yes, we do.
Okay, out today on DVD, Baby Mama with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler. Anybody here see it? No. I want to. Yeah. Also out today, The Forbidden Kingdom, Jet Li, Jackie Chan. That looks awesome, dude. That looks good. You're so dumb. Jet Li and Jackie Chan, same movie. Sean. It's got to be good. I just said that. Like Jet Li's wife probably hasn't even seen it. She's like, I don't want to. I don't want to see it. Wow, this is sour. It is really sour, isn't it? It's like, whoa. Yeah, I'm like trying not to drool all over my face. I am drooling all over my face. The saliva is too much. Too much. Okay, also out today we have. Pumpers like the pump. That's the deal with it. I prefer that. Also out today, the Big Lebowski, the 10th anniversary edition. Oh, yeah. I haven't seen it. About two hours. It's always a drum solo now. I mean, it's probably a drum solo. It's not really a rim shot anymore. Kind of deserve it. So this will have... Keith Moon walked into the room, babe. Okay, anyway.
Ladies and gentlemen, John Bonham, okay? This will have a lot of extra segments diving into their background. And it also comes with a... Oh, this is sour. Spin it out. It comes with a selection of photos that were shot on the set. I can barely do this. You're being dramatic. We're professionals, Mike. I can do it. We're going to make it through, bro. We're almost there. Okay, TV shows to DVD. Grey's Anatomy, the fourth season. Smallville, seventh season. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, season three. No. They have eight babies at once. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Isn't it like a set of twins?
Yeah, I think there's like twins. What do you do with that, eight kids? It's crazy. I remember they had the baby's first dentist appointment and they had to take all six of the kids to their first dentist appointment. Six kids. That's stupid. That is nuts. And then finally, in honor of Jake's second birthday today on DVD, Thomas and Friends, The Great Discovery. Listen, if there are parents listening right now that do that Thomas the Train, I defy you to get that stupid song out of your head. That Thomas the Train. How's it go? Thomas the Tank Engine steaming along. Well said. All of his friends will be rolling along. Thomas, we love you. Beautiful. And then Jake goes, Again. You start. You start. You start. Okay, you start. You start. You start. Okay, you start. You start. You know, Mom. You start. You do it. Yeah. Okay, you start. You start. My boy turns two today. My favorite. I think he is two today. Oh, it's really sour. Are you not done with it yet? It's just going away now. It's like down to just like a tic-tac. 570-1053. What are these called? So I don't get them again. I love them and I hate them. Icebreakers. Yeah. Tangerine Passion Lime Coconut Peach Dragonfly and Mango Margarita. Oh, I hope it doesn't have alcohol in it. What's up, my tie? Make mine a double. Mikey Shell, hello. Come on, O. Okay, we established yesterday my name is not O. Question, O. Did you just hear me? Oh. Eddie, we were calling her O all day long. Well, that's her name. Mikey. That's the face she made when she saw the gopher. No.
Sky is not a fan. Sky is not a fan of that. No, not a fan at all. Sky is not giving you a fanatical look. Hold on. Oh, Edward. Mikey Show. Mikey Show. Hey, P1 Gunslinger again. Just wanted to wish Ashley a happy two-year anniversary for not going to see Baby Jake. Oh. Wow. Wow. Wow. Oh, my goodness. I mean, really? I'm hanging up on it. She's made up for it. That's right. She has. Eddie just gave her a thumbs up. She's stunned. She's very responsible now. I will remember that gunslinger. You're done, bro. Sorry. It happens, guys. We're out. Mikey. Mikey Show. Hello. Hi. I just had a quick question. There's a song that I've been trying to figure out. I heard it on your guys' radio station, but I cannot figure it out. It's this one.
It sounds like it's a hip-hop song with, like, violins in it. How does it go? Flowbox. Oh, I don't even... I don't want to hum it for you. Thomas the Train. Put it up. Put it up, Seth. Let me test it. Give me a sec. Is it called Hannibal? Yeah. I'm going to play it, ma'am, and you tell me if this is it, okay? Hang on, ma'am. Just let it play a little bit, all right? Is that it? No, that's not it. Try the one to the right of it. The one to the right? Is it this one? Is it this one? This song sounds like winter. Oh, maybe I changed my mind. Who is this? Pocket Lipstick.
Oh, man. It's a good one. Is that it? Is that it, man? No, that's not it. Oh, Seth, you are the worst. The biggest moron. Hey, Sean. Wait. I was talking to the caller. Oh, man. I hope you are excited about a job well done on our part. Yeah, you guys. Another happy customer. Yeah, definitely. It's Linkin Park. We don't know what it is. I know you don't. I wish we did, though. Stay Matthews. That's okay. Dropkick Murphys. All right, thanks. You're welcome. Bye. Mikey Show. Yeah. Turn your radio down, please. You hung up. People get really nervous. Oh, yeah. They get really nervous. They hear their voice, and they go, ah! Finito.
Because that's what happens. They get so nervous. I don't think that's what happens. They don't get that nervous. Yeah, they do. Do you have facilities? It's getting weird. I did think I saw something when Sanjaya was making his speech at the Hall of Fame. That was really nervous. But he didn't do what Mike is insinuating. I'm just saying I think he might have. We don't know. Is he trying to heal a sunburn? It's your boy. What do you want from me? Oh, it's my boy. It's my boy. I'm the one who asked him to sit in this room with us. Mikey Show. Make go for jokes. He likes those. Oh, okay. Mikey Show. I could go for a ham right now. Are we done yet? Yes. You're the last call. Last call. Bring us home. Hello, this is T1 Granulator here. Hi. Hey, I'm looking for Eddie, actually. Hey, what's up?
Hey, what's up with Evan Tanner? What happened to him, man? My buddy keeps sending me these pages. Unfortunately, I'm out of my work truck right now, but what happened to him? He died. Yeah, brother, come on, man. I know, but a little bit more. Oh, you want more than that? He went camping out in the Imperial County near the California-Arizona border and apparently ran out of water and his body was found. Damage. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. Yeah. Major damage. All right, brother. Loveland Townsend Missy is up next. Today on the Nooner, all request lunch. Tomorrow morning at 5.30, we'll do it all over again. Mike shows out. Love your mouth.
