The show opened with Mikey and Boston Rob reacting to the Chargers’ decision to fire defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell and replace him with former Bears coordinator Ron Rivera, debating whether the move would improve the defense. Later, Mikey detailed Barack Obama’s purchase of a half‑hour prime‑time ad on several networks, sparking a discussion about campaign financing and media bias. Throughout the episode, callers weighed in on Prop 8, Sean tested his germaphobe knowledge by naming household hotspots, and the crew laughed over Sky’s husband’s ham‑less chicken cordon bleu, the diary‑reading dilemma, and the Jake Peavy trade rumor.

Wednesday rolling. It is 6-0-6. Obama's doing something different. He has paid to air a half-hour TV ad on multiple networks during prime time tonight. Chargers fans, listen up. Something wicked crazy happened yesterday in Chargers land. They can. Ted Cottrell, and he's replaced by inside linebacker's coach, Ron Rivera. Ron Rivera talks about his plans for the Chargers defense. I mean, you stay with the 3-4. concept you know and and that's another thing too i played in a 3-4 i played for buddy ryan he was a 3-4 defensive coach as well so it's not like you know this is anything new to it i mean i've been in the system two two seasons had a chance to evaluate it the last two seasons and i think i've kind of grown to it feel very comfortable with it i like it um and and believe me if it if i felt any differently i might i would have told nor but i just i just think that you know with the personnel we have and what these guys do and do very well i think we can have success with it Our boy Eddie is out sick today. He's not feeling good. And he's going to be filling in for him today. That's right. 570-1053 is the phone number. Give us a call. The Chargers have fired their defensive coordinator, Ted Contrell. I can't believe it. It's crazy. Did he need to be fired? I mean, is this a good move? I don't know. That defense is just terrible.
The thing that is really crazy about it is that through our conversations with Sean Merriman, he has veiled or otherwise sort of insinuated that, you know, when you're not sending everybody at the quarterback and when you're not and when you're not and when you're not, you know. And so the only thing that's really surprising to me about it is that. Ron Rivera, the new guy, who I think is a good coach. He was their linebacker's coach, but he was considered for the head coaching job for the Chargers. He was interviewed to be their head coach. He came from Chicago, where they had a great defense. And so, obviously, he knows great defense. The only thing that was a little bit weird to me, and Zeth follows San Diego sports big time, right, Zeth? Yep.
I'm going to assume from him saying, we're going to stick with this 3-4 defense, which means you got three guys right there on the line, and then you got four linebackers behind them. They call it 3-4. And I can assume by him saying, we're going to stick with this thing. I've had a chance to see it over the last two seasons. With him saying that sort of tells me, oh, he must have done a 4-3 when he was in Chicago, and he's going to stay with what they've been doing. but just, like, with his tinkering or something? Did you get that feeling? Yeah, that's kind of what it sounded like. I mean, if memory serves me correctly, when he was doing the Chicago thing, they were running a 4-3. But, you know, they don't have the linebacking core that we have. So if you rush a guy off the edge, it's more effective than a 3-4, and it's been proven to work better. So it's a good thing if he stays with it. Yeah, so maybe what he's saying is really for real, like, hey. These guys are quick and fast, and they're much better working in this kind of – I'm just so interested to see what he does because when he was in Chicago, that defense brought the house. They were monstrous. So, like, do you guys think that we may, like, see a – oh, it's a bye week, right? Yeah, a bye week. Okay, but the following Sunday, like, do you think there will be, like, a visible difference in the defense or is it more – Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, wow. And for a couple of reasons.
One, I think that now Ron Rivera has to go, I have to prove that I can do this. If not for this team, but for another NFL team. Kind of sink or swim. Yeah, I got to show everybody that I can make a difference and that I'm a great coach. There's that. And then I think that you have, I think that this will take those defensive guys and sort of. Get them, you know, a little fired up. Yeah. Like, all right, cool. Now we're going to show how great we are. If anything, they can sort of blame Ted Cattrall. Right. The players. He's a scapegoat now. Yeah, the players can say, I'm actually really great. Yeah. And you're going to see how great I am. And it was Ted Cattrall's fault, and I'm going to show you how great I am now. The individual players can do that. If they wanted to mentally, they could get there. So I think, yeah, you'll see a big time difference in that. Big time. Big time. Big time. Big time. Yeah. Yeah. But we'll see. I mean, I think the Ron Rivera move is good. What do you guys think? 570-1053. Text us. 35253. What do you think? Boy, I'll tell you what.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say, get this, Ted Cattrall, you know, what's going on? Yeah, the past week, that's all you've been hearing. And you know, the other thing that you hear, if you hear a criticism, you hear that there was not the ability to adapt. And we heard that from Sean Merriman, that there was not the ability to adapt. In other words, you go out there and you're playing the team and they throw something at you that you didn't see watching them in film that week and you don't know what to do. Oh, so they can't like adapt on the fly. Yep. That's interesting. Yeah. That they weren't. They weren't adapting on the fly. And so, you know, and what I really saw, I saw sloppiness. I saw penalties. I saw acting out, inability to adapt. So maybe Ron Rivera goes in there. He's real tough and he stops all that.
Yeah, he should bring Sean Merriman back. Yeah. That would help. Good idea. That's my expert advice. Yeah. No one thought of that. Thank you. Thank you. He should kiss his knee. Yeah. And that's it. Rub dirt on it. Rub some dirt on it. Bend it on it. Make it all better. Get him a scoop of ice cream. Yeah. It's always better then. 570-1053. That's our phone number. Our text number is 35253. My upper thingy here went out my little screen. My upper lip went out. My screen, we're fixing it. Let's go around the room and introduce everybody. Hi. There are seven people on the Mikey Show, six today. Our boy is out. He's got some phlegm issues. What the? Oh, no. That can never be good. My name's Mikey. I am 38 years of age. Hello, Mike. Hi. cool surprises for P1s that are coming through MikeyShow.com and through all sorts of different avenues. Things that when you hear them, you're going to go, what? Like, be really stoked about. You're going to be really, really stoked about it. 570-1053. Give us a call. Text us 35253. Let's fire up the phones.
Eddie is our producer and our sports guy. He is out today. He's 35 years of age. He's been my best friend since we were kids, basically. And he's phlegmy today. Can you stop saying phlegmy? He'll be back tomorrow. Let's see. Sky is our news girl. She's 31. I would prefer her to rock the headband every day, but she doesn't. I got to, you know, keep you waiting. Yeah. Overdo it. Yeah. You can't overdo it. Can't overdo it. She's rocking the headphones today instead of the headband. Yeah. Yeah. Very stylish. That's right. Yeah. I like it. The way they're all falling apart is really, it's, it's retro is what I like. Very vintage. Vintage. Yeah. Have you done anything about the loose spider in your car? No, not besides. That you're not sure exists, by the way. Oh, well, okay. Most likely doesn't. Hey, we don't know that. There's webs in my car. There was a web in her car. So what? The guy, the spider guy, like, oh, let me cruise in here. This guy's not in here. Let me make a web and then leave. Just to freak her out. Who does that? Yeah. Happy Halloween. Did you do anything about it?
Well, like I said, you know, we took the web out and sprayed a little raid in there because that's what we've been using as our spider killer. Yeah. And then let it air out. But I'm like mentally freaking myself out. Like as I'm driving, especially in the morning when it's dark and I can't see my feet on the pedals, I always think I feel something on my foot. Of course. And then I take my foot off the gas and I'm like shaking it around. Oh, come on. Sure. Smart. Shawnee, oh boy, is our sound effects guy. And every once in a while, it does happen. It's happened today. It's quite a day. That's right. He's not just wearing an undershirt. He is wearing, in fact, the Hawaiian shirt already. Wow. Usually the Hawaiian shirt doesn't come until later. But here it is already. Wow. I feel special today. And, Sean, what's the reason? The reason is the air conditioning is working today. Gotcha. So it's nice and cool in here. Yeah, didn't they lock you out of the air conditioner? Yeah, still locked out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Yeah, I would say maybe once a week it's working. Oh, good. The rest of the time it's about 80 degrees in here. And I'm not exaggerating. No way. Can't you calmly and rationally discuss with someone in charge that you would like it cooler just until people arrive?
Uh, yeah. In fact, I'm not the only one who's asked that because this studio gets used all day long and nothing. Oh, good. Is there a person in charge that's not allowing this to happen or is it just not getting taken seriously? Well, I went to HR. I don't know where the other people went either to their manager or their, you know, engineering's manager. I don't know. Right. But I went to HR. I thought that was going to be the path of. least resistance because once you make a complaint with them, they have to log it and, you know, it all gets official. Whereas if you go to a manager, they'll just go, yeah, I'll take care of it and they won't do anything about it. Uh-huh. And nothing. Oh, man. That is brutal. Sorry. Yeah, it's unbelievable. There it is. It's nice today, though. Oh, yay. Hey, all right. Feeling good. Happy days. Look at that. Shawnee is sprite and ready to go. I'm ready. I'm going to kick. Oh, no. Oh, no. Kick it. I am. Kick crutch? What the heck?
Well, you know how he says, you know how sometimes he'll say things like, I don't give a rip and, you know, stuff like that. He has, sometimes he has these phrases that haven't been used since the early 1900s. It's the phrase that pays, Mike. Yeah. I don't know about that. He calls it the phrase that pays. But what does that mean? Like, is he actually. Phrase that pays, though, that's an 80s cliche that he's borrowing from. Are you sure? Like, are you actually kicking crutches out from, like, underneath needy people? Yeah, how does that work? Needy people, by the way. People that need crutches. The needy. No. The needy need crutches. Out from underneath the needy, yeah. That's what I do. The financial situations are so bad. I do it professionally. Yeah. They're repossessing feet. Not sure why Sky wants you to be kicking out of the needy, but the crutches. I don't know either, but apparently she gets off on that kind of thing. Hey, listen. To each their own, Sky. You all know what I meant. We all have hobbies. Shush. Yes. Kicking poor people. I get it. Whatever. I do not kick poor people. She's in a league for it. They're called the Bombers. It's about standing stats. In fact, they're traveling to Ethiopia next month. Kick crunches out from underneath the knee. Is that like the international game? She and Sally Struthers and a bunch of other people are going to take care of them. Championship.
Ashley's our assistant producer. She is 25 years of age, and she's very tan. I don't know how she does it. You must be in that sun constantly. Are you in the sun all the time? Every day? Walking and exercising. Sure. There you go. That's Ashley. And she is our assistant producer, meaning she does many, many tasks. You can call us, by the way. 570. 105-3 is our phone number, and then our text is 35253, and we want to hear from you. What do you think about the Chargers firing Ted Cottrell and promoting Ron Rivera to be the new defensive coordinator? What do you think about that? 570-1053, text number 35253. Boston Rob. He's our resident Boston aficionado. He's wearing a Celtics jersey today. Yeah, NBA kicked off last night. That's right. Yeah. Who is Greg Odom? Greg Odom? Greg Odom. He plays... Lakers. Oh, he's just drafted. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's already hurt, I heard. Got hurt last night in the first game, and he was out all year last year because of the season he was out last year. And I heard that he's real good. He's supposed to be real good.
And then last year was his rookie year. He's out the whole year because he had a knee injury. And then last night, he sprained his ankle. And they're going to take some x-rays of it and find out what's wrong with it. I just hope this isn't all too good to be true. But here he is back and owie. Maybe Ron Rivera should kiss it. Oh, that would help. Put a band-aid on it. Yeah, put some dirt on it. Let's rub it. And then there is the artist formerly known as Sir Roosevelt Zethion Oates, the third junior Esquire, MD, DDS, president and CEO. As seen on TV. Hey, it's Zethion. There he is, that guy. He's so cute. P1 Lewis, what's up? How you doing, guys? Good morning. Good morning. I just wanted to say, first of all, I love you guys. I'm in the military four years ago. Didn't know who you guys were. Just came to California. And my friend told me, dude, you got to listen to the show. Nice. And I listen to you guys, and I've been hooked ever since. That's cool, dude. That's cool. Thank you. No problem. I want to make a comment on Ron Rivera. I'm from Chicago. I love the Bears. Watch the Bears for the longest. And the one thing about Ron Rivera, he's a tough but fair coach, just like Mike Singletary when they played together. I was kind of sad to see him leave Chicago because when he left.
It seemed like the Bears, their defense was not, they were a shell of them for themselves. They weren't as aggressive and as fiery as they were under Ron Rivera. Really? Yeah. Well, if you look at the Bears this year and even last year compared to the way they were maybe three, four years ago, the fire's not there. Nobody could run on them. Nobody could pass on them. They were always second to quarterback. And, you know, in the past couple games, they have not had a second to quarterback, not once. Brian Greasy threw for, I think it was like 40-something attempts and not one sack on him. The fire's not there ever since Ron Vera left. Wow. And he was their defensive coordinator, right? Yes, sir, he was. So look at that. I think he can bring that fire and that intensity to a lot of the San Diego defensive players. And, I mean, you guys have a great linebacker and, you know, Sean Merriman, and you guys have great cornerbacks. And I think that, you know, you guys can be a scary, scary defense because of him. I do, too. Awesome. I do, too. Hey, man, that was a cool phone call. Love it. Thank you, bro. Thank you. Love you guys. All right, man. Love you, too. It's weird to say. Aw, sweet man. Aw, sweet man. No one brought me. All right.
I say yes on Prop 8. But you just confessed your love to another man, so you're kind of a hypocrite. Wait a minute, but it was in a way that was like all of us. It was all of us. I didn't say, I didn't hear anybody else. I meant all of us loving. But you said, I love you. Well, talking about just you. Well said. It's one of those ways that I show myself to be a hypo, as they say. P1 Leonidas is on the line. Hey, good morning crew, what's up? What's up, dude? Hey, I was just calling to weigh in on the Tech Control situation. Yeah. I think it's half the season overdue, man. I think coming off a great season last year and a season before, just missing Sean Merriman, I think that we should have definitely got some more wins. And it looks to me that the DBs and the safeties are shrugging their shoulders with their arms up going, what's going on? I think they're a little lost back there. For sure, dude. Well, I agree with you. I think it's...
I think it's a little late to do it, but I still think it'll work. Better late than never, Mike. That's right. I've heard that. Yeah, I definitely think it's the perfect time going into the bye week. A little bit of a change. We've got two weeks to prepare for Kansas City, and I think we can get a nice winning streak going. Yep. Thank you, brother. Love you guys. Love you. Yes on Prop 8. No, you vote no on Prop 8. I'm voting yes on Prop 8. But you have man love. It's not as it appears. Some things in the mirror are closer than they appear. I would like to be Seacrest. I didn't say that. That was taken out of context. That's right. Allegedly. Just in case any lawyers are listening. Allegedly. Barack Obama. Do we know who that is? Are we familiar with Barack Obama? Yes. Obama. Something political. Sounds familiar. Never heard of him. Running for president. Obama. And airing a half hour TV ad tonight. Yeah. This is different. Must see TV.
Yeah, in prime time, he has paid a million dollars per network to air this half-hour infomercial commercial campaign ad thing on CBS, NBC, Fox, Univision, BET, MSNBC, and TV One. Prime time. Can't do it. What's up, Mike? Do you think that the networks would have allowed John McCain to do the same thing? Okay, thank you. If he had the money, of course. Really? See, you know what I think? You know what I think? I think that they may have gone, oh, we would like to, but scheduling and we just, we're trying to, you know, I, ah. And why? Why is, what's their motivation? Just politically? Because, yeah, I think that the TV networks, they love, they love Obama. Really? Is he going to be on Fox? Fox is one of them. Yeah. CBS, NBC, BET, MSNBC. I think they like money more than they like. Yeah, I think they like money. But I think one thing Obama, and maybe this is just my impression, Obama has over McCain is I think Obama will bring bigger ratings because I think he's a little bit more controversial. So people will tune in. So they're making money on the front end and they're making money on the back end. I think they're happy and they, you know, it really has nothing to do with politics. No ABC in that? No. I know. Weird.
Why? Because they have Wheel of Fortune and they really feel strongly about it. It's so good, Mike. It's such a good show. You know, they're like, what are we going to do? Not air Wheel of Fortune? I'd freak out. I love that show. She loves it. So if this is a half hour commercial, are they going to run commercials during the commercial? I paid for those too. So what kind of commercials are we going to do? Well, I paid for... I heard you were going to do some, like, OxyClean in between the... Oh, what about the ShamWow? I paid for the commercials to not appear. Oh, that's not fun. So that it could be all me, all the time. Oh, well, you are handsome. I thought you were going to sing the Saved by Zero theme. Because every commercial, it's going to be Barack. Yeah, he acts out every commercial. Yeah, he acts out every commercial. That would be really cool. Like, he's the baby in the baby ad where he's texting and talking on the phone. Throws up a little. Yes. I would love it. I would love it. I don't know about McCain, man. What? Well, dude, check it out. Like, Obama's doing a half-hour TV ad. McCain's, I don't know. Fizzling out. Staying home watching Hee Haw. Drinking Insure.
Yes. Yeah, well, of course. Insuring Red Bull. Do something, McCain. Well, and of course, the conservative take on all this goes back to Obama being a hypocrite about the public funding. And the only reason that Obama can do this and McCain can't is because Obama went back on his word. So he was able to raise a billion dollars, whereas McCain couldn't raise as much money. So Obama is like having a blowout right now with commercials and ads and everything. I don't believe I can't believe that. McCain didn't have the money to be able to do it. It sounds like he's not smart enough. Maybe. Well, because he took public financing, he's only allowed a certain dollar amount. He literally cannot have any more money than a certain dollar amount. Whereas Obama, because he has not accepted public funds, he can raise as much as he wants. I saw something about credit cards. Do you guys see anything about credit cards that weren't traceable? With regard to Obama? Yep. Yeah.
What's that? The story is that because he has accepted donations through the website, they feel that some of the people who've contributed, they can't track. And those could be people who are overseas, which is illegal. Or they could be people who are donating multiple times, which is also illegal. So they're looking for a paper trail on every single transaction. Oh, gosh. Man. Come on. Yeah. He's raised a lot of money, more than anybody else. I think ever, right, Sean? Yes, ever. It says of the $150 million that he's raised in September, $100 million of it came over the Internet. Yeah. And he's allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give. or to mask a contributor's identity. Rob, we've got to run for something. Seriously? That is crazy. I'm telling you, man. I think I stick with my original statement months and months ago. I think Obama's probably going to win the presidency, and I don't think it's going to be much of a race. No? Mm-mm.
It's interesting. You know how the polls are saying, you know, well, Obama's ahead, but it's very close. Everything I've seen is real, real close, but it doesn't feel like it. It don't feel like it to me either. Can't do it. Now, I'm telling you that the media is largely left. They're largely left. Because I get it. Go media. Fox News is largely right. That's about it. Largely? That's about it. That's about the only one I can think of that's largely right. I can't even watch that. If you're left-handed on that network, you get fired immediately. That's right. Right. It's the truth. I don't doubt it. You can't even be left-handed. They don't even want you to have a left hand. No, no. They don't want you to refer to anything being on the left. Yeah. They hate that Beyonce song. They hate it. They've changed it. They've edited it. Yeah. Right.
To the right, right. They put a hard edit. Yeah, it's a hard edit. They never have leftovers. Never, ever. They call them write-overs. The police officer outside your car is staring at you like you have two heads. Turns out, you do. You explain to the officer that the lobster costume you're wearing is a tribute to Rubio's for braving the cold blue waters off the coast of Chile to bring back succulent langostino lobster. Unfazed, the officer asks, why were you swerving? Tough to grip the wheel with claws, sir. He clicks his pen menacingly and starts writing. You continue to plead your case.
Honestly, who can resist the bold Beach Mex flavor of a Rubio's burrito filled with decadent langostino lobster, freshly made guacamole, and a creamy chipotle picante sauce? As you take the ticket with your pincher, the officer says, Son, it's a good thing Lobster Beach Mex isn't expensive, because you're going to need a lot of fancy lawyering to get out of this one. Langostino Lobster is back in tacos, burritos, and now a two-street taco plate for just $4.99, only at Rubio's. For 75 years, Navy Federal has proudly served the Navy and Marine Corps. A water main break of some sort coming down the hill, completely floating the freeway and causing some hydroplaning here on the 805 north right around the 94. So you've got backed up traffic here approaching Plaza Boulevard and that extends through this water all the way up towards around the 15 connector before you're back up to speed though. But you're being advised to avoid that area if you possibly can. 5 Freeway northbound seeing some heavy traffic now out of the South Bay as well from Chula Vista up in the National City. You've got the South 15 pretty backed up as usual from the 78th of your Rancho Parkway. Then a minor delay through Poway. Coaster was looking pretty good in the southbound side of the 5. Just a brief slowdown through Lucadia. Oh, the West 94 King Freeway. That is backing up heavily from Federal to the 805 because the 805 is pretty messed up there. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Corona Light presents Scary Halloween Corona Stories.
We were sitting on the beach when suddenly it started to rain. And then I noticed our bucket of Coronas was empty. And so I went to the cabana, but they said there was no more Corona. There was a party down the beach, but they also didn't have Coronas. Then I went down the beach to the other bar and they had no Corona. And when I asked the bartender, where is all the Corona? Okay, what's up with the screaming? It's too scary. This has been Scary Halloween Corona Stories. This Halloween, don't get too scared. Be sure to stock up on plenty of Corona Extra and Corona Lite. Imported by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. Corona reminds you to celebrate responsibly. Now back to the Mikey show featuring Mikey. It is not until you get to know me that you realize I'm completely self-absorbed. Eddie. I like my sandwich. I like my sandwich. Sky. I'm the token Boston guy on the show. That's right. Every show should happen. And Ashley. You make a compelling person. I'm a compelling person. On Rock 105.3. It's the Mikey show at 641. Actor Joaquin Phoenix just announced that he's giving up acting to focus on a music career. Dude.
Rain, rain, go away. The Phillies and Rays got postponed again. So they're going to try to play tonight. But check this out. There might be snow showers. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Not joking. It's just baseball. Right. So maybe tonight, if it happens tonight, 537 on Fox. But who knows? Maybe some hail. I don't like. Where are they playing in Philly? Yeah. And there might be snow. Snow showers. That's gnarly. That's really weird. This could be pretty crazy because, you know, it's going to go into November now. Yeah. Well, I don't want to say anything because you know how I am with either team. I don't want to say nothing about the Phillies or Rays. If the Rays come back, you know, go deep into November. Well, it's also going to be interesting because Obama purchased, you know, a million dollars worth of time on Fox. And so if those games go late or eat into his time, like what are they going to do? We get them at what time here? I think it's 8 p.m. Yeah. So are they going to bump it back? Are they going to cancel it on Fox and refund Obama's money? I don't know how they'll handle that. What are they going to do? Pretty interesting. Yeah.
Oh, I can't wait to see how that goes. Here are some of the texts that we're getting. We're getting texts about two things. The Chargers defensive coordinator, Ted Cattrall, being fired. And Obama. Obama. Mikey, it's about time Cattrall got canned. I was tired of seeing a great defense play terrible. That's P1DRAD. Thank you. Mikey, the only reason you'll see the Chargers defense improve will be because the next game's against the Chiefs. If they lose again, who will be fired next? That's P1 Jump. I want winners. Thank you, Mr. Singletary. This one says, Mikey, Obama raised more money than Bush and Kerry raised combined in 2004. That's P1 Know-It-All. I will definitely believe that. Yeah, I heard that on the news last night, too. Yeah, I believe it. Listen, I think that he's probably, I wouldn't be surprised if he's, if a statistic came out and said, Barack Obama has raised more money than any candidate ever in the history of the United States combined, all of them put together. I'd go, yeah, yeah, I believe that. There's a lot of very wealthy people that really like Barack Obama, and they're wealthy because they're in the media or they're in the entertainment industry.
There's a lot of entertainment people that really like him. 570-1053 is the phone number. 570-1053. And our text number is 35253. We'd love to hear from you via text message or on the phone. Speaking of politics, I think that you may enjoy hearing this. Now it's time for the YouTube of the day. This is kind of funny. It's not necessarily very serious, but it's not serious. It's just funny. I want you to see if Joe Biden may have a problem with counting here. Cut 39. Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing. to tackle the number one job facing the middle class. And it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word. Jobs. J-O-B-S. Jobs. Wait. What's wrong? What? Well, I guess two things. Letters aren't words, and that was four letters. Three-letter word, J-O-B-S. That just sounded weird. Okay, fine. Well said. Let it slide.
Maybe the BS is counted as one word. The BS doesn't count. It doesn't? Uh-uh. It doesn't? Uh-uh. All right, fine. Let's see. Sky had to tell her husband that he is no longer allowed to watch the news until the election's over. What? What is that? Oh, it was a doozy last night. Uh-oh. She said he gets really worked up. He gets himself so worked up into a tizzy. What does he do? He just starts ranting and raving. He's calling people liars. He would just be ranting, I would think, right? He gets pretty intense. Yeah, I've caught glimpses. He does? I have not seen this. When I was there for the P1 Hall of Fame induction, we went out to dinner one evening. I don't think you and Rebecca were there.
And I was sitting across from the calico beard. Yes. My calico kitty. Yeah. We started talking about, I don't remember. Oh, I know what it was. It was just about like electric cars and gas consumption. And I mean, this guy was coming unglued. Really? See, he's very, I know him to be very, very mild mannered. Oh, yeah. This is like completely opposite from his personality 99% of the time. For some reason, this election, he is fired up. I would classify it as maniac. Wow. Well, and it's, you know, and it's nuts because, like, both sides are totally full of it when they talk about the other side. You know what I mean? Like, the McCain campaign says things about Obama, which are totally twisting the facts, and I'm sure vice versa. But he just cannot handle it. And it, like, messed with his head, like, all night. If you go on to read what I wrote after. She goes on. I have not read this. She goes on. I just saw that part. She goes on to say he was so worked up last night that he forgot to put the ham in the chicken cordon boo. Yes, that's right. Cordon boo. Eddie is punching his radio. If Eddie was sleeping right now, he's got to be twitching. Oh, my gosh.
It's chicken cordon bleu. Don't say that. Because he makes it. With ham. And he forgot to put the ham. I can't believe Eddie's not here for this. I mean, he took so much time. He pounded out the chicken. He got it all ready. He put the cheese in there. He rolled it up. If I were you, I'd have stood up. I'd have taken that. That plate of chicken cordon boo in your hand like you were going to hit somebody in the face with a pie and I'd have thrown it right out the window. I would have put it at his head. Thrown it right out the window. Do you realize there is no ham in that? There's no ham. So he's already like all worked up and he's eating it and he has not noticed that he forgot to put the ham in there. And I take a bite. How did you notice? Come on. Come on. Well, because it's the main ingredient. I mean, please. It should be ham cordon chicken. In fact, I wish that they would replace the chicken with ham. I prefer ham wrapped in ham. Why has no one thought of taking a ham and putting a little lump of chicken in it? Or, yes, as Sean suggested better yet, taking some ham and putting a little lump of ham inside. I'd like ham cordon boo, please. Yes. So I take a bite.
And my face immediately goes, hmm, something's missing here. And he looks at me. I'll say. And he goes, what? Because I wasn't going to say anything because he was already all fired up over politics. Can you guys imagine if we had a tiny little recorder there for this conversation? And I'm like, oh, nothing. He just throws a plate. He practically did. And he's like, what, what? And I'm like, well, I don't, there's no ham in my chicken. And he goes, great. Great. That's it. That's it. I've had enough of today. Is today over yet? I was like, babe. And that was the point. I said, babe, you are no longer allowed to watch. Because he now puts it on, like, the news mix on DirecTV. Wow. Just to have all the different news stations up all at once. Why is he so into it? He's got, like, a campaign station at her house. Oh, yeah. If he could. See, this is what I'm really confused about, too, is that his side's probably going to win.
Like it'd be one thing if he was being, you know, like if he felt that his side was not going to make it, they were being treated. His dude has got a 30-minute commercial on TV tonight. He's the darling of the media. Does he have a trigger or does something set him off? Yeah, like what is it that makes him nuts? It's mainly listening to the Republican campaign spin on things, you know, because he views them as like monsters. Like these are evil people who have been destroying our country and want to continue to destroy our country. So to see evildoers point the finger at a saint. Yes. Like how dare they? Yes. And I go, babe, calm down. This is politics. They do it on both sides. It's stupid. It'll be over in a week. But no, he just gets. Fired up. Wow. Yeah, I was quite a doozy last night. So I said, hey, let's watch some Samantha Who. Christine Applegate gets amnesia. How crazy is it? Anyone? No. How crazy is it that Skye didn't have ham in her chicken cordon bleu? Are you kidding me? Yes, it is. It's the most ridiculous thing I think I've ever heard in my life. It's ridiculous.
You know it's going to be in the UT today. Sky Jilted Ham Story. Text us. 35253. Yes, please text us. And please call us at 570-1053. We'll do some Sean TV next. Don't go anywhere. When we come back, I got a story for you. If you did not hear it earlier, there is a baseball rumor about Jake Peavy leaving the Padres. We knew that. We knew that there was a whole thing about, but there's a big rumor about where he's going and for who. I'll tell you who that is when we come back. Have you heard the ads for Proposition 8? The ones that claim it's about teaching marriage in schools? Here's California Superintendent of Public Schools, Jack O'Connell. They're absolutely not true. Prop 8 has nothing to do with schools or kids. Our schools aren't required to teach anything about marriage. And using kids to lie about that is shameful. What Prop 8 is really about is eliminating fundamental rights. The League of Women Voters calls it a major threat to our basic constitutional rights. That's why California teachers say no on 8.
Our laws should treat everyone equally. All eight major California newspapers say no on eight. Regardless of how you feel about marriage, it's wrong to eliminate fundamental rights. Vote no on eight. Mike Aguirre blamed the city, his own client for the La Jolla landslides, and launched an investigation of city rodent control. He'll talk about squirrels, but he won't talk to the chargers. The San Diego Union-Tribune says Aguirre's tactics are costing the city big bucks. Reckless public statements, withholding public records, fined by the Ethics Commission. You were listening to The Mikey Show. With Mikey. Being Christian was, like, really good for me. Eddie. When have I ever been overconfident? This guy. Once I'm out.
on somebody. I'm out. Yeah. Sean. Hold on. You're making me sound like I'm crazy. I'm out. Be Rizzle. Go me. All right. That's right. Go you. And Ashley. I'm a laughy person. The Mikey show's on. Expectations of a rate cut today by the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones had its second largest game ever yesterday. NBA opened up last night. We saw Chicago beat Milwaukee. The Lakers pounded Portland. And my Boston Celtics beat LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. They got their rings last night. He's awesome. I love doing sports. Is this guy out of his mind? Is he out of his mind? Is he out of his mind? Is he out of his mind? Is he out of his mind? He's out of his mind. He has to do this. Yeah, he's nuts. He's 100%. 100% nuts. Oh, my gosh. Is that anybody? Hey, Sky, I have a question. Yes. I don't understand. So yesterday when the Dow went up and everything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It went up. Why? Because they were thinking about something today or what? Yeah, there's supposed to be an announcement today by the Federal Reserve, and they're expecting them to cut rates today, rates that I believe would affect lending and stuff like that. So it gets people feeling like, okay, more money is going to come into the economy. Things are turning around. Things are starting to look good. Let's buy, buy, buy, buy. Yeah, more people will be able to purchase homes and get loans and things like that.
I think I got my little stockies right at the right time. Perfect. Yeah, you did. Perfect, Mike. You are a stock market genius. You are. No, no, I'm not. I didn't know what I was doing. I just did it. So good, dude. Oh, no, no. You're the best. Freaking nature. Okay, great. How do you do it? I don't know how you do it. I want you to help me with my portfolio. Let me tell you how you do it. You make a mistake and hopefully it goes your way. 5701053 is our number. Our text number is 35253. And before we went to break, I said that we were going to be telling you about this rumor with Jake Peavy. Okay. So, Rob, what are we hearing? Well, this is crazy. The UT is reporting that Peavy, he wants to stay in the National League and that he might go to the Cubs. The Cubbies. The Cubbies, man. Well, why wouldn't he go to like a big high-paying AL team? Well, you know what? Like the Yankees or the Red Sox. Like, couldn't they give him more money? See, that's kind of weird that, you know, this is what the UT is reporting that he wants to kind of stay in the National League. And once you take that out, the American League out of the mix, like the Angels, the Yankees, the Red Sox, these are the, you know, ball clubs with the biggest payroll here.
I don't know. Why would anyone want to stay in? Like, why? Why? What's the point? I don't get it. Well, I have a theory. I can understand wanting to be in the AL if you're like a designated hitter or something. But as a pitcher, why does it matter? Yeah, because if you're a pitcher, you have to bat in the National League. And so I'm thinking when he does bat, sometimes he's pretty good. And so maybe he really enjoys that. Is that possible? Yeah, but I mean, you know, it's more rest for him. You know, he doesn't have to be. Zeth might know. I'm thinking that he just knows the hitters in the National League. That could be it too. Yeah, but I mean, after a year, I mean, he's still a young guy. And after years switching over, you know, because the transition is kind of tough. After one season, he's going to know these other guys, you know, and he's going to have people working with him constantly. Yeah, but think about it. Think about if you have. He just doesn't want to face, you know, these DHs. He's comfortable. Maybe he's going, look, I'm comfortable doing it. I kind of like batting. I like it. I know these hitters. Why would I go? Well, first of all, he could be thinking. This is all hypo. Right. Total hypo. Don't want to go to New York. Don't want to go as far as Boston. Don't want to know these batters in the National League. Money? I'm going to get great money. I think he would.
want to stay in San Diego no matter what, but, you know, if he's going to be put on the trading block and, you know, they're going to check out offers, then, yeah, you know, if he's going to be put up there, you know, and see what people can throw back at him, then, you know, why limit yourself? And who cares about having to throw against the DA? Comfortable. You're comfortable. But, I mean, if you're going to go to Chicago, that's out of your comfort zone, right? He's played those teams that Chicago plays. He plays them here as a Padre. I'm just saying, dude. And ultimately, he just wants to fight you. He wants to fight you. Ultimately, he wants to go for a win. Can I say why I think Rob is doing this? Why? Because he wants Peavy to go to the Red Sox. I do. Oh, him. Look at him go. Wow. He's so mad. Jake, if you can hear me. Why are you limiting yourself? But I mean, you know what? He goes to the Cubs. Put him on the trading block. He goes to those Cubbies, and I ain't saying nothing. I know, dude. Dude, you will never pay for another beer in Boston ever again. No, you won't. But he goes to those Cubs, man, and they're going to have a lethal lineup. They're going to be...
a contender again next year. And that's all I'll say. And that's all I have to say about that. Okay. Now, isn't there a rumor about... Okay, so there's a rumor about him going to the Cubs. Isn't there a rumor about, too, who he might get for Peavy? All I've seen if, you know, he does get dealt to the Cubs is Kusuki Fukudome, which was a rookie last year. I mean, his stats weren't that great as last year's rookie year, but... He's going to be a solid outfielder for you guys. I don't know anything about him. That doesn't make any sense. No, but I think that would just be one of the many. Like it would be part of a package deal? Yeah, or maybe even a three-team deal. I don't know any of this. Some kind of blockbuster deal. Because they're just wanting to make sure that there's no big names involved that the Padres could get out of it. They want to make sure of that, that we can't get any big names. We don't want to recognize any of the names. No. Part of the deal is that if we deal Jake Peavy, we cannot recognize a name that we get for him. You have to go against everything we stand for. Everything. Everything we stand for. Yeah, we want to put a name on the back of a jersey and people look at the jersey and go, who's that? Yes. How do I pronounce that? Yeah.
And unless we can do that, it doesn't fit into the Padre system or way of thinking. Fukudome, he's a great lead-off guy. He's an awesome guy. Did Rob just cuss? Bless you. Do I need to hit the delay? Do I need to hit the eight-second delay? Did he say something wrong? He could have. Great. Hey, watch it there, mister. It's a family show, right? Peavy just needs to come to Boston. Okay. We'll give you guys... All right, let it go. I don't know, Tim Wakefield? Peavy's over to die. He's such a jerk with that. Do we still have him? 570-1053 is our phone number, but what if we were to do some of this? Sean likes watching his TV. Yes. Yeah, let's do this. The way that Sean TV works is that we have our sound effects guy, Sean. Ashley's a huge fan. She loves Sean TV. Sean TV, I'm going to be honest with you. It makes me nervous every time we do it. Why? It's the...
Risk reward factor. There is something at risk when we do this. How so? My personal sensibilities are at risk. Also at risk. It could be cowboy cooking. Yeah. We don't know. Which means our ratings are at risk. Which means our ratings are at risk. I totally disagree. I think a lot of people actually loved. Cowboy Flavor. Oh, God. And number one, they learned a lot, but they also found a new show that they can TiVo and enjoy. No one has ever TiVo'd it. Over and over and over again. Not one listener's TiVo'd it. There's a reason why on the RFD network that Cowboy Flavor runs almost every single day. And in some cases, twice a day. They don't have any programming. And that's because it's great. All right. So for every Tim and Eric awesome show, great job. How many? Nine. Real number. Nine cooking with mustaches. There are nine cooking with mustaches. Hey, I'm with that, Joe. For sure. And so, right now, as we... I have more emails about that show. No, you don't. No, you don't. Hate mail. Hate mail.
I didn't say if it was good or bad. Sean watches every single thing you can imagine on TV. I don't know how he does it, but he watches everything, and then he introduces us to a new show. I like television, Mike. And so today, what are you introducing us to? That's so funny. He thinks it's so funny. He cannot. How many times can I play an episode of Banachek? Banachek. Banachek. Well, hold on. There's a reason why, though. When I was in San Diego last time, I swore I'd offend you. No. When I was in San Diego last, Mike and I, we went to Fry's, we had to get a couple of things, and we were walking through the DVD section, and there was a brand new, complete series of Bama Chick. The entire series on one DVD set. Who cares? So I thought we should explore the series even further. How dare you?
You're only doing... The only reason you're doing it is because... I guarantee you, he had another thing planned. He heard Eddie wasn't here. Yep. See? You heard guilty laugh? Yeah. This is my shot. Yeah. This is my shot. Eddie's not there. Eddie is not there. Obviously. That's crap. How dare you, Sean? I'm pissed. I come today to hear what you have to introduce to me. I'm a fan of you, Sean. Well, first of all... Sean has introduced us to this show from the 80s, Banachek. No, it's from the 70s, Mike. Even better. The show from the 70s, Banachek, he's, finger quotes, introduced us before. So how do you get introduced to something for the fourth time? Well, he basically, he rapes us with it. Yeah, he did it. I wish we had our Banachek rape whistle to blow and say, sorry. Fine, fine, fine. Thank you. Fine. Thank you. Fine. Thank you. Okay, we heard you. We'll do a show called Rock of Love Charm School, Mike. There we go. That's what I'm talking about. Okay. Pippet. Pippet. Wait, what is that? Pippet. Pippet. What? Pippet. Pippet was on Rock of Love. I just, I'm looking for something. I'm looking for something like that man's looking for Pippet. They took the girls from Rock of Love. Haven't we done Rock of Love before?
Rock of Love and Rock of Love 2. It's the show where Bret Michaels was looking for the love of his life. Both shows were hugely popular. In fact, they were VH1's number one and number two shows every time they were on. It's a good show. So what they decided to do was they took the girls from Rock of Love who were... I would say socially awkward. Some would say socially offensive, trashy. And they put them in a setting, a charm school setting, where Sharon Osbourne and Ricky Rackman were going to teach them how to be ladies. So why don't we hear Megan and Raven introduce themselves to Sharon Osbourne. Let's hear it. What are your goals? What do you want to do? Well, I don't really see myself as working. I think ideally for me, a best fit would be like a top of the line trophy wife. Moving right along. Thank you. This is what I hope to gain. I want to become a new age talk show host. I feel like I have a voice. I have the life experience. I've been through a whole lot. And I feel like that's what I was put on the serve to offer to other people.
I don't know what to say to you, Raven. I don't know whether you're as mad as a box of frogs or what. Do you guys think that we have run into that first gal in our lives and we just don't know it? Because I'm thinking to myself, the first gal that said, I just want to be a top-of-the-line trophy wife. I thought to myself, man, I don't know that I've met her. Well, if you mean it literally, Mike, you may have seen her on... On Rock of Love, on I Love Money, or you could have seen her on Beauty and the Geek. So she does a bunch of these shows? She's been on all of those shows. Oh, wow. She's that girl. Eventually she'll be discovered. Wow. So what they do at the end of the show, obviously there's an elimination ceremony. One of the girls, Angelique, she isn't from the U.S. She's actually from France. And she blames a lot of her missteps on the fact that...
English is her second language, and so Ricky Rackman was actually trying to call her out on that. As far as you, Angelique, during some of the challenge, you might have been a little bit confused, but... Okay, but I asked Dallas for some help, and she refused to help me. Please don't turn me on the bus. No, I don't throw you on the bus. I'm trying to talk to him right now. I'm not even talking to you. Hey, stop. I was confused. French is my first language. I apologize. I was confused recently. It seemed like... Can I please finish? God, man. No, I'm trying to explain him what's happened. I don't want to hear about it. I don't want to hear about it. He won't even listen, but he should better be worried about washing his hair because he looked like he didn't wash it for 100 years. Wow. Oh, wow. I just wish we had those as dry tracks we could play for drops forever. Forever. Wow. That was phenomenal. It's Rock of Love, Charm School. You can see them all. Christy Jo, Rodeo, Stripper, Heather, Jessica, Angelique, Brandy M, Courtney, Dallas, Raven, Brandy C, Destiny, Lacey, Ina, and Megan. We've got some tough spots on the freeways here this morning. There's an accident bombing a motorcycle down in the fast lane because there really is no left-hand shoulder here. South 15 just past Lake Hodges. That's going to back up traffic very heavily from the 78 on down into Rancho Bernardo right now, and the traffic alert has been issued for that. We've got slow traffic in the south on the 5 as well, developing slow from Lucadia down to Solana Beach. Westbound 52, heavy over the Mission Trail Summit, heading toward the 15. Northbound 15, backed up here, coming up through Murphy Canyon from Arrow Drive. All the way up to the 163 emerged. There's a hit-run accident leaving a car in the left-hand shoulder there that's causing that major backup. North 805 got into it early on this morning. That is at a crawl still. Suffering from before 8th Street and Chula Vista all the way up past the 15 freeway. This is all due to a water main break that's completely flooded the freeway out here near the 94 connector. That's affecting the West 94 traffic trying to get out of the 805. That's backed up now from Lemongrove Avenue. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. The problem is there's always a wait because it's so popular.

We're actually getting a lot of texts about that, about the Ron Rivera thing. Listen to this. Mikey, Ron Rivera was the first Cuban Mexican to go to two Super Bowls, once as a player, once as a coach. That's P1 Pippin. Let's see. Mikey, the morning show is great. You guys are all making me crack up. That's P1 Kevin. Awesome. Let's see. Oh, we got a lot of text messages about the Padres situation. Mikey Peavy loves batting. He's one of the best hitters in baseball. That's P1 Homer. Mikey, the Padres have turned into MLB's farm team. P1 Mark. Kind of true. It is true. Mikey, this is a great sports day. Mikey, it's easier to get to the World Series coming from the National League. I don't know about that. Yeah, I wouldn't say that. I mean, the Yankees have won 25 world championships in the last... 26. 26. But who's counting? 26 world championships. I wouldn't want to leave that one out. Let's see. P1, JP, are you there? JP? JP, go ahead. Good morning. The Unsecured Loan website. Is that what you're saying? Yeah. Is he talking about... Was it First Again? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Are you sure it wasn't Breathe Again? We'll ask Chamberlain and we'll put it out over the radio for you. Money, money, money. Thank you, dude. Thank you. P1 Cubs is on the line. Hi, Mikey. How you doing? Good, dude. What's up? Hey, first time caller here.
I'm a huge Bears fan, and I'm just saying that I think you guys are lucky that you're getting Rivera as your defensive coordinator because he teaches the players to strip the ball and create turnovers, which the Chargers desperately need this year, so I think it's a good move. Dude. That's the second Chicago call we've got. Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of encouraging. That's cool. Yeah, he was their defensive coordinator when they went to the Super Bowl, and, I mean, their defense was just stout that year. I think it's a great move. I was surprised that he stayed on just as a linebacker's coach there just because he was so good. So I'm glad. I'm bummed we didn't keep him, but I think it's a good move for the Chargers defense because, you know, they need turnovers. Awesome, dude. Thank you very much. I appreciate it. Oh, sure. You guys have a good one. Love you. Thanks. Love you. Mike loves you. Love you. Mike loves you. I say yes on Prop 8, though. Nope. You say no. I say yes. And then you get married. I say yes on Prop 8. P1 Brenda is on the line. Hi there. Hi. I have a question. All right. I'm noticing some changes with my 15-year-old daughter. First, I should say that. And her behavior is really, you know, different. And I noticed where she keeps her diary. And I'm thinking about reading it. And I just wondered if you think that's like a terrible thing to do. What are you doing? It's just that I'm really, really concerned.
And, you know, we've always had a really terrific relationship. And it just seems lately she's not talking to me about anything. And, you know, she's different. She's quiet. She's withdrawn. She looks thinner to me. It's just not the same. How old is she? Fifteen. Have you had a talk with her about how you're not talking like you used to? No, I've tried to, but she just kind of shuts me out. See, that's the first thing. When you say that you haven't had a talk with her about her not talking with you like you used to, that I think might be the first place to go and start with, man, things seem very different between us and the way that they used to be.
I really want to hear from Ashley and Skye because they're girls. And talk to her about the girl aspect of it. Yeah. Well, I'm sure you know. I forget your name already, but I'm going to call you mom. I'm sure you know. You've been a 15-year-old girl before, right? Love you. I've been a 15-year-old girl before, and I know. Me too. And this is just according to my mother. I'm not making this up. I was an angel until I hit those years. Okay. And I pretty much did a lot of what you're describing about your daughter. It's never been the same, really. Except for the thinner part. She's never been. That's when I got my breasts, so. She's never been the same. But that's just a tough age, man. Hasn't been an angel since. I've heard you. I am. But that's a tough age, and it's freaky. Like, ooh, the trust that could be lost if your daughter finds out you read her diary. Like, ooh, I don't know. Ash, were you tough at 15? Oh, are you kidding? Oh, come on. Oh, you're cute. Can I answer this? You weren't there. You don't know. You are a sweet, precious friend of mine. Wow.
See, this is really tricky because from the daughter's perspective, I'm still really difficult to Mike. He has a hard time with me. I'll be honest. Is that about me right now, Mike? Yes, it is. It is about you. Let's make it that. It's not. Because this is the thing. If I look at it from the daughter's perspective, oh my gosh, if I found out my mom read my diary, especially if like I was doing stuff like maybe. drugs or who knows like well that's what I'd like to know yeah no for sure and that's why I'm saying Brenda because like it was from the daughter's perspective and I found out I would flip I would never forgive you I would rebel even more but from your perspective if you were able to get away with it if I were you I almost would read it because if I'm concerned for my daughter's health and well-being and she's not telling me what's up and I can find out on my own terms then maybe I would do it wow But I wouldn't want her to find out that I read it because that would ruin everything. You would have to be sly about it. Now, Mom, be totally honest. Take a step back. Like, do you think this is normal 15-year-old hormone becoming a woman stuff? Or do you really seriously think that there could be a concern about drugs or something? Well, you know, see, that's the thing. I don't know. I don't have any other children to, you know, compare to.
They're all, you know, my other two are little kids. So I don't... You married? Yeah, I am. What's your husband thing? I haven't really talked to him about it. I get a question for you. You should start talking. Yeah, talking's good. I get a question. Go ahead, Rob. If someone was concerned about you and they were considering maybe reading your diary, let's say you kept one and let's say... You know, you started becoming withdrew from whoever. Withdrew, yep. How would you feel if you found out that they read your diary? I'd probably be concerned, but I'm also an independent grown woman. I'm not, you know, a teenage child that is, you know, under someone else's care. I'm just strictly looking at, like, privacy. Just privacy in general and a bond of trust. Well, and mom... You know what you just said right there about I'm a woman, I'm an adult, I'm an individual? Yeah. At 15, even though you're technically not, those are the feelings you're starting to have. There it is. You want to be respected as a woman at 15, and you're changing, and that's kind of why you're withdrawing. Well said.
Rob just gave me a look like. She's got me. Rob just gave me a look like. All right, that one was fan. That was in bounds. P1 Julie, are you there? Yeah. What do you think? Oh, I have a 15-year-old, and I try to talk to her about things, and sometimes she gets upset with me, so I just don't even say anything because I remember when I was 15, and so I don't think there's anything to worry about. All right. That's one way to look at it. I kind of feel the same way. Like, unless you're finding, like, syringes in her room or she's coming in with Coke powder under her nose, you know. P1 Scooter? Scooter, are you there? Hi. Yes, I am. Go ahead. I really believe in the drug test. My 13-year-old was going to be the same. Not this again. And, you know, first I sat him down and I talked to him. And, you know, first thing I said is, you know, we love you. We're getting really concerned. Your attitudes change. Your grades are falling. And, you know, I have a drug test. Actually, I didn't even say that I have a drug test. I talked to him about, I think you're doing something illegal. You know, and just really had a heart-to-heart talk with him where I did all the talking. And he admitted to me before I ever even had to tell him I had the drug test that he was smoking pot and drinking at 13. And he has made a lot of changes.
We have done a drug test, and I told him periodically we're going to do the drug test just to make sure that he's staying clean. And he's okay with it. You know, he's really okay with it. He wants to turn around. He's had other issues in his life, and this has really helped. What do you think of that, Skye? Oh, I hate this home drug test thing. Like, it really... Because with all of us, basically what we do is we compare it to our own lives. So when I think about being a kid, 13, 15, whatever, and yeah, I was smoking pot back then, but I was also toeing the line. I was getting good grades and cheerleading and all that stuff. Sleeping with my boyfriend. That's right. Much earlier. That's right. So if my parents would have come to me with a drug test at that point. I don't know. It would have been insulting. And I know Mike and I have had this conversation. You shouldn't worry about, like, you know, whatever. Like, you should be able to stand strong as a parent. But it creeps me out, man. Because, Sky, you were saying, like, you still got good grades, though. You were still doing your sports. And so it's like with this situation, you know, she's noticing bad negative changes in her daughter, you know, so. Yeah. Well, if she finds out, let's say she goes and reads the diary, okay? Let's say that this happens.
I mean, how much are you really going to gain from this? You're still going to have to, you know, go and talk. Like, you're not going to read it and do nothing. You're still going to have to talk to your daughter about it. So why not just avoid the, you know, maybe ruining trust for a while and ruining the relationship. Avoid all that and just go and confront her about it. I mean, if she's smoking a little reefer, you know, that's what kids do. Don't spank him and put her in a room for a week. What? You don't spank him at that age? I don't know. I don't have kids. Hey, listen. I just want to remind people that the voice that you're hearing has the word Boston tattooed across his throat. Yes. That's a good bet out there. Just so you know. Wow. You know, Donnie is on line three, and he's saying the same thing about the drug test. Really? Donnie. Yeah. Yeah. Hi, guys. Hi.
I fully believe that reading the diary is the wrong thing to do. I mean, you just blow all the trust and respect that you have as a parent. And whereas drug testing, you know, if you have that, first and foremost, you have to have the conversation with them, like the lady before was saying. And, you know, most of the time, I wouldn't say most of the time, but a lot of the times you're going to get that out anyway. And then you're not even going to need the drug test. If the conversation doesn't go well and you still don't feel good about it, I think it's your right as a parent. I mean, you're still responsible for that child, and you're still the parent that needs to teach them what's right and wrong. We all know that kids are kids, and they do some of that stuff, but it still doesn't make it right. Drugs are still illegal, and that child's still in your house, and you're responsible to teach them the right way. I think there's really something to be said for, you know, we got to be the teachers. We got to be the ones to instill. Oh, yeah, absolutely. I just am going, man, if we are. It's like we've been there. We've been kids, you know. Oh, yeah. Leave us alone, mom. Please. See, now, I can only tell you from my perspective, I was left alone too much. Oh, yeah. I was, you know, there was too much leaving alone.
Yeah, and I was the opposite. My mom was referred to as Inspector Gadget. Always in your stuff. Like, she knew what I was doing wrong before I actually even did it. It's creepy. Well, you're getting a lot of different perspectives here, Brenda. You want to listen off the air and just let people call and text, and you listen off the air and tell me what you think, all right? Okay, well, thanks very much. Thanks. Don't read the diary. P1 Shannon's on the line. She says, yeah, she's all over her kid's stuff. You there, Shannon? Hold on a second. All right. Let me call you back. All right. Hello. Yeah, you there? Yeah. Oh, I thought you were talking to me when you said, let me call you back. Yeah. You're like, whoa, okay. Sorry about that, Mikey. No, my boss was just on the phone. Had to get rid of him. Good. Thank you. And priorities. Go ahead. My son just turned 15 on Monday. And, you know, we've got to deal with him where he's got a MySpace. We check his MySpace and we also check his phone, but he knows that. So, you know, my take is that you need to, well, you need to talk to him and then you need to, you know, you also need to check up on him. And I've kind of gone back and forth on the diary. I'd love to get in that thing and read it. But, you know, like everybody's saying, you lose some of that trust.
The biggest thing is you've got to talk to your kids. It's important. Yeah, and see, I think that's what's awesome about what you're doing. You're going, okay, you can have a MySpace, but we have to look at it. Yeah, you can have a phone, but we get to go through it. That's why P1 Mom was kind of freaking me out because she doesn't have permission to read that diary. You have to have that communication with your kids, and if they're not talking to you, you've got to figure out how to extract information out of them. getting harder i have a younger son that's eight and i can talk to him but you know the one who just turned 15 it's it's like you know pulling teeth getting anything out of them you gotta you know you gotta talk to them and um you know you gotta be their parent you gotta you know a little bit be their friend too you know i mean you have to have that trust and be able to uh get information out of them it's not easy but if you you know if you um have a good relationship with him you can you can get you know and he fessed up to some things that weren't on the that weren't on the MySpace and weren't on his phone. I just think if you have a good enough relationship with him and you talk to him... You mean through text message on the phone? I'm sorry? You mean that he fessed up to some stuff that was on the text message? No, he fessed up to stuff that... We kind of noticed some things going on. I said, is there anything that you want to talk to us about or is there anything going on that you need to tell us before we find out about it later? Because we will find out.
I love that. You know what I mean? Yeah. And he just came clean. It was really cool. And, you know, it wasn't, you know. I'm a firm believer. But you know what I mean? It's stuff that comes out that, you know. I am a firm believer that kids want to be disciplined. They want. You need to discipline. You know, spare the rod, spoil the child, right? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, listen. The way you go about the discipline is completely up to you. And it's an individual thing. My wife, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I understand. My wife doesn't want to, she doesn't want to spank. She wasn't spanked. And she thinks that there are better ways to discipline Jake. And I'm on board. I think my wife. One way, that's up to you, however you do that. But you do need it and they need it.
I think kids mostly like to live up to expectations. When you have expectations placed upon them and they live up to it, it's a really great reward for them to see that you are proud of them or whatever. That's the best way to go about it. I think that what you're doing is the absolute right way to handle it. You know, one thing that she said... that I thought was, uh-oh, the thing that stood out to me is, one, she hadn't really talked to her daughter very much about it, and when it came to her husband, they hadn't talked about it. Right. So her daughter's losing weight, her daughter's withdrawn, her daughter's all this stuff, and she's like, yeah, my husband doesn't know, and I don't really know if I should talk to my daughter about it. I think you guys are correct with the wanting to be disciplined and, you know, want to live up to standards, but I think I can say for everyone as... People as a whole, no one wants to be deceived and no one wants their stuff invaded. I think that if you do that, you're running a big time risk of, okay, big time. A big time risk. You're running a big time risk of, okay, I'm going to file you away in my 15-year-old, not very mature mind of how much I can trust you. Yeah, absolutely. Back after this. 570-1053. Our text is 35253. Good morning, family.

Let's go down to the field. Upon further review, the ruling on the field is ridiculous. Actually, I didn't really even see the play. I just blew the whistle because I had a piece of stadium hot dog in my throat. Sorry about that. The following is a paid political announcement. Are you tired of excuses, not solutions, from San Diego school administrators? For instance, school board member Mitz Lee added 86 more bureaucrats while eliminating 300 classroom teachers. Now, Mitz Lee refuses to even meet with teachers to talk about it. Parents and teachers say it's time to dismiss board member Mitz Lee and elect John Evans and Sheila Jackson instead. Evans and Jackson will shift decisions away from district office administrators and into the hands... of parents and teachers. So people who understand each community can design programs to help their kids succeed. Saving money by cutting bureaucracy. Putting resources directly into the classroom. The League of Women Voters calls it a major threat to our basic... constitutional rights. That's why California teachers say no on eight. Our laws should treat everyone equally. All eight major California newspapers say no on eight. Regardless of how you feel about marriage, it's wrong to eliminate fundamental rights. Vote no on eight. It's unfair and wrong. Paid for by no on eight. Equality for all.

Dante Culpepper got up practicing with the Detroit Lions. They started some contract talks. How about that? Welcome back to Mikey's show. Eddie is out today, and so Boston Rob is filling in for him. Oh, yeah. Awesome. Doing a little sports. Thank you. Before we went to break, we got a call from this lady that said that she's got a 15-year-old daughter. Her and the daughter used to have a pretty good relationship, but now they don't talk as much as they used to. And she said, I know where her diary is. I'm thinking about reading her diary and I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about doing it. Here's some of the texts that we're getting. Mikey, sounds like she's having problems with her husband and that may be affecting the daughter in a less than positive way. That's P1 Joel. Yeah, I mean, she said she hasn't talked to the daughter about it much. That's weird.
And she also said that, I asked her, did you talk to your husband? She said, no, I haven't. told him about it well it was interesting and you know this is just my crazy you know brain you know my conspiracy theory brain but you asked her was she married and she kind of hesitated and then said yeah and then you asked if she had talked to him and then she said no so maybe there's stress in that marriage which is causing their daughter to show some of that it could just be a leap but i kind of felt that plus if they were separated she would have answered that way If they were separated, she would have said that. She would have answered just like that. Right. And I just don't know it. Yeah. Mikey, I think she needs to drill it out of her because I got pregnant at 15 and my mom never knew. Oh, my gosh. P1 Ashley. Oh, goodness. Mikey, does she know any parents of her daughter's friends? She could talk to them. Otherwise, if she's worried, read it. Kids don't get total privacy. That's P1 Corey. My friend Chris is online. He's pretty good with this stuff. Chris, you there?
Chris is a parent, but your kids are... How old are your kids, though? Seven, five, and three. What's your take? The three-year-old doesn't have a diary. Okay, yeah. All right, Chris. Yeah, that does make sense. I think you know what he meant. I think that makes sense. You can't read that. It doesn't exist. I see everything in colors. That's right. You know, I've been... And, Mike, you know this. I mean, I've been doing a lot of counseling with parents and parents of teens for the last 16 years, and this one's... I kind of agree with one of your people that wrote in, hey, teens and kids in your home don't have that 100% privacy, and yet when you're talking about a 15-year-old and her diary, you were talking about just breaking one of the greatest lines of trust there is right there. Now, I'm not opposed to it, but I'm saying, boy, you better be at a last resort to use that diary and say, boy, that's what I want to cross. If it's just laying out there, I wouldn't do it if things are going okay. But if she's at a place where she feels like she's losing her daughter, She can't do anything else about it. And she's at her wit's end. And there's already those signs that say there's some dramatic change going on. Whether it's weight loss, whether it's change in appearance, change in eating habits, sleeping habits, change in grades, change in friends. You know, if a lot of those warning signs are going on, I tell you, to save any one of my kids, I would read anything and do anything within my power if it was, boy, I've got to find out what's going on. But then I would caution that parent. If you read it and find out, what do you do with that information?
Oh, gosh. I think there's a way, too, to read that and figure out maybe what's going on and not have to tell your daughter got from a diary. But now you know, wow, now I know the problem. How can I get to it without, you know, without divulging the fact that I went and read her diary? And I think that you really hit on something there. Let's say you do find out what the deal is. At that point, yeah, you got to do something. You know, we're talking about a 15-year-old. Well, if I find out, yeah, there's drugs going on involved and she's deep in it or there's a pregnancy, then I step in and I don't care if she knows what I read or who I talked to. I just don't care. I just sit down and say, babe, I love you to death. And I've been so scared and I didn't know what to do. And I know something's going on. And, you know, the last possibility I had was to read your diary. And I did that. And I'm so sorry I did that. But I did that just because of how much I love you. And here's what I found out. And I'm going to do everything I can to help you with this situation. And whether you like it or not, I know about it now. And we're in this together. This isn't about, you know, Gestapo breaking in and finding out some evidence that you can use against them. This is about a parent saying, how can I do everything possible to get back on my kid's side? I think Sky brought out a great thing. If she's got some situations going on at home or stressed, we're talking about a 15-year-old. And most parents still see their 15-year-olds as kids, but I guarantee you every 15-year-old sees himself as an adult.
As a parent, you better be dealing with this kid as an adult to an adult relationship. And if there's stress or there's problems going on in the home, I would sit down and just say, honey, as you know, here's what's going on with your dad and I, or here's what's going on with finances, or here's what's going on with health. And I would bring her into my problems. Because if you're not bringing your 15-year-old into your issues and problems that are in the home, then why in the world would she bring you into hers? And what about this, too? What about we've all been 15, and so we know that when you're 15 years old, You think that the smallest things are the biggest things in the world. So if there was a guy that she liked, not even her boyfriend, and this guy happened to diss her, that could be enough to have her lose weight, get, you know, go withdraw, be upset. It could, you know, but those are the things that happen in life. You know, those are things that just sort of happen in life. involved in it and you just kind of let nature take its course and happen but then like what you're saying like hey man but if it's something serious who cares you just got to get in there and help yeah and that's why i think i think i'd look at say boy have i done everything i could to talk to her about it and and if you've reached out in every way possible and you've been vulnerable yourself and you still know boy there's a disconnect there
That's where I would go. And if I find something in the diary that's like that, boy, there's a break in friendships. There's an embarrassing thing in school. There's a rumor that was started about her. Okay, if that's what it is, I don't have to divulge that I read her diary. But now I know, okay, this girl needs a whole lot of love and courage right now to see how beautiful she is, how awesome she is. And, you know, most parents, you know, unfortunately, because of our time and our schedules, we point out what's going wrong in their life, in their grades, in their relationships. And we discourage them far more than we encourage them. When we got kids like that that might be going through a family situation and something breaks, you know, as simple as a room or a school or a friend situation, like you said, it's the end of the world to a 15-year-old. Hey, dude, you told me a story one time about how you have to say yes sometimes so that your no means something. Yeah, you got to pick the battles to win and battles to lose. And, you know, I'm doing things even right now with my kids, and I let them win battles. When I say, no, you can't have that or we're not going to do this, And I let them ask why and what's going on that. And it's like, okay, all right, I guess we can do that. We can have that. And just if dad's way or mom's way is always right, then you've just divided us versus them. And especially when you get to teenagers, pick some battles to lose. You know, pick some things that you talk about, you go around and around about, and you say, you know what? I don't get it. I don't like it. I don't like the black lipstick and the eye shadow and, you know, the fingernail polish and the piercing butt.
You know what? You got me. I don't really have great reasons why, except I just don't like it. So fine, if that's what you want to do, do it. Wow. Because that's a battle I can lose. I mean, I don't care what my kid, you know, pierces or how much makeup. It's like, okay, most 40-year-olds aren't walking around like that. It's probably a phase. There are things as far as it comes to drugs or drinking and driving or driving with friends that are drinking, you know, back and forth parties. Those are battles I'm not going to lose. You know, that's how I lose a kid. I don't lose a kid over makeup and fingernail polish. You know, I want to set down policies that, boy, my kids win some battles with me. And so when I do draw a line in the sand, they're like, well, crap. Dad gave me this one and this one, but I guess this one, that's his. And there's got to be a fairness, not just it's my way or the highway. You're so good, Chris. I like it. I know. I like it. All right, brother. Hey, I appreciate it, man. Thanks for the applause. You got it. You just did. Thank you. Let's see. Very insightful. Mikey, when I was 15, I did a lot of things to rebel against my parents and shut them out of my life, and my parents left me alone. Looking back, though, I wish they would have forced me to talk to them. I could have sawed a lot of pain in my life. I guess they mean, like, taking it away. P1 Dizzle. Mikey, what if mom found out that she did drugs? How could she let her daughter know that she found out without letting her know she read the diary?
P1 next. That's what he was saying. Be creative. Figure it out. Or like Chris said, just be brutally honest and say, I'm so sorry I did this, but I love you so much and I was that concerned. Yeah. I think that's good too. You can say that. Let's see. 570-1053 is our phone number or you can text us at 35253. P1 Not Safe is on the line. What's up? Hey, Mikey. How's it going, guys? Good, man. Cool. Hey, okay. See, this is like what I was thinking is, okay, what if the daughter isn't going through any of these things? What if the daughter's not really going through, like, drug problems or anything like that? What I'm worried about is if the mother does decide to go into the diary and finds out that, you know what, hey, something tragic happened to my daughter, and the daughter's not really, like, ready to talk about this. Then would like as a parent, are you prepared to find these things out that way? Like you read through it like, holy crap, you know, this happened to my daughter and I'm barely finding out like this. And I had to sneak around to find out. Well, I mean, if something tragic happened to your daughter and your daughter is not ready to talk about it and you read that in the diary, you have to use your discernment to say to yourself.
This is something that I'm going to bring up to her. And, you know, she needs to talk about it. And I know that as an adult that she needs to talk about. So I'm going to force it out of her. Well, first of all, I don't know really that you're the one that she's going to feel comfortable having that conversation with. Oh, man, boy, I'm glad you brought it up. Or, you know, let's talk. You know, if they're not ready, they're not ready. And at the same time, I go, yeah, I see that there would be a need for. If something tragic happened, I assume we're talking about like rape, like a date rape or something like that. If something like that happened, let me ask the girls again. What were you, you know, what do you girls think about that? If something that serious happened to you and you were all clammed up, you were changed, your behavior was changed. It was something you journaled about, but you didn't necessarily feel good. going to your mom and dad and being like mom dad i went on a date and guess what happened you know what do you think well i think it's tough you know and it all goes back to the relationship between the child and the parent because you know even though i was going through my stuff at 15 or whatever i still knew that my mom you know was a resource for me she had a lot to offer and so if i went through something say it was like date rape and i didn't want to say anything because i was drunk at 15 and you know that ended up happening
and I didn't want to get in trouble, I would almost be thankful if my mom found me out and forced me to confront it. But if you don't have that situation, I would say maybe talk to a counselor and let the counselor in on it and then set up an appointment with the daughter and the counselor. That's tough. One of the things I was just thinking, Ash, I want to know what you think too. You're a girl, and I'll tell you what I was thinking in a second, but what do you think? It's really hard because... If I put myself in those shoes, like, because I had some things happen to me in high school that were messed up and that my dad to this day doesn't know about. And I told him, like, a lot of things. I got a really great, amazing relationship with him. And I still didn't tell him these things that happened to me because I was embarrassed. About your mom. No way? No. You would never go there? No. No, my mom and I, I never, like, would, like, tell, like, my dad and I had that relationship where I could really tell him anything. And I knew he wouldn't, I knew we could talk about it. And if he had, like, read my diary and found out what had happened to me and confronted me on it, I would have been like, Dad, that's my issue. I'm dealing with it. I can handle it on my own. You betrayed my trust. You invaded my privacy. Screw you. And I don't need your help. And I would be pissed. See, I think so, too.
Rob? I just got to get this off my chest because I was kind of screening phones when you guys were talking to Chris. I mean, I love that guy. 90% of the stuff he had to say, I agreed with. And, you know, he's got great takes on stuff. He's really well thought out and I really respect what he has to say. But I kind of felt when he was saying the, you know, I love you so much I had to read your diary. It was almost using that as an excuse that no one can touch because it's love. And, you know, I'm doing it out of love. And to me, that seems so wrong. You know, if you love them so much, I feel like you would be talking to them more every day or going out and saying, hey, you're going to go see this counselor, whether it takes 100 times or it takes one time to get you to talk to someone. I think that no matter and you might disagree with, you know, the way I'm going to kind of relate this, but it's like girlfriend, boyfriend. You know, I loved you so much that I thought something was wrong. I went through your phone. And it's that kind of, you know, it's like you can't cross that boundary anywhere, anywhere in your life because that is other people's thoughts, feelings. That is their private stuff. And whether or not it's your kid and they live by your rules, they still are entitled to a certain amount of privacy. And if you do love them that much and that is going to be your excuse to go through whatever it is, I think there are other ways. I think that you can spend that time because you love them so much sitting down.
them. And as much as they're going to resist, there's still your kid and it's going to eventually work itself out. Yeah. And I, you know, a couple of points. One is, I think it's important to remember the deal about, Hey, this is a last resort. Like you feel like you're about to lose your kid. And when I say lose your kid, I mean like you think your kid might die. I agree. 100%. Not like, Oh, um, you know, my kid just seems really bummed out. Really upset. And so I think as a last resort, I'll read the. Now, I think what we're talking about is like it looks dire. Yes. I mean, she's talking about this kid's losing weight and stuff. But I'm saying I understand that. But I'm saying what if there's what if you read the diary and she didn't. We're all assuming that in this diary there is an answer. What if there isn't? I'm saying if you love your kid so much, forget the diary. You don't need the diary. Go to the kid. Why are you looking in some book that might not? This diary might be blank for all she knows. She might not even use it or she might have scribbled in it twice. Why is, you know, like, why is that the answer when it might not contain it? Talk to your kid. And this is the disconnect that I think a lot of parents have these days that, you know, I'm just going to drug test him. I'm just going to spring it on him and break out the.
No, what happened to kids and parents? When my dad was alive, me and him had the greatest relationship because not only did he discipline me and show me what was right and wrong, but then he had those times where we were best friends and we kept it on a real level. Like when Chris said, bring them into your problems and they'll bring you into yours. It's like... Treat it like any other relationship when it comes to that. Like your friends, you know, you're not going to always ask your friends what's wrong and not tell them what's up with you. Things have just changed and I don't agree with it. When I said that I wanted to, I said, listen, Ash, I want you to say your thing and I have something. The one thing that I was thinking is, is that... But really with an issue like this, and if you're just tuning in, this mom called in. She said, hey, my 15-year-old daughter's losing weight. Something seems to be wrong with her. I don't know what to do. I know where her diary is. Should I read it? I don't know. And so we've all been kind of knocking around ideas about what that would be like. And the one thing that I was thinking was I think we need to rewind way before that when times were good, when times were great.
The thing that Rob was saying about there being a relationship then, because if we're to the point where the kid is in this description sounds like kind of far gone, kind of, you know, it sounds like it's really progressed, you know, to the point where the mom's calling us at the radio station and kind of going, what do you guys think? I think that when it's a situation like that, if you go back. And before that, there's been a relationship that may not happen. It may not get to that point. And Rob, you know what, man? You know what Rob said that I really liked? And I'm going to have to spend some time with it to see what I really think about it. But Rob said something that I really was like, that's interesting. And that is that a lot of times with our kids, we get into parent mode.
And it's I teach, I tell, I say. And what Rob said was like actually letting our kids in on our problems, not putting our problems on our kids, but sharing our lives with our kids. Because what is a relationship? I remember the first time my dad did that with me. One of our close family friends died. And he wouldn't, my dad was, you know, a strong guy, a man's man, never broke down, never showed, you know, that he was weak. And the first time he did that, I must have been like 12 when she passed. Yeah. And I remember when he broke down, he shared with me how he was sad about it and how it kind of upset him and it kind of like turned his world. And when he, it was almost like he was talking to me like, I, you know, I want to.
Look to you for some advice. And I want you to know that, you know, like I'm hurting and that you're my peer. And when he did that with me, our relationship changed. It blossomed so much because all of a sudden it was, you know, hey, he can come to me with stuff. You know, parents' lives aren't perfect, you know. Right. And they always, you know. try to associate with adults and stuff but you got kids that you can go hey you know what today wasn't the best day you know this kind of got me down or you know hey today was a great day like when a parent gets a promotion they share it with their kids right and they get all excited and the family goes out to dinner but if the parents having a bum day why not go you know what today just really and whether the kid can completely understand you're not putting anything on them you're just letting them into your world and it creates this whole new element to your relationship There is really something to that, I think. Yeah. That really changed my head. Go ahead, Sean. I was just going to say, I think that what Rob's saying is it's good if you can have a relationship like that with your child. But I think you have to keep in mind that that...
is an ideal and just like there are people in your lives that you just can't get along with you can't ever get along with it because either you have you know your personalities are too different or you know something has happened in the past or whatever that also happens with parents and children and there are some children that they just cannot get along with their parents whether it's their fault or the parents fault you know what like i said you know diverging personalities or or different philosophical uh points of view Sometimes you just can't make that happen. And so then you're in a situation, like this woman's in a situation right now, and I don't know if that's the case with her, but she's in a dire situation where trying to cultivate and build a relationship with her child now, it would take so much time that in the process, it's possible that something really bad would happen to that kid. In trying to build that relationship, it would take far too long. And that's that's that's true. You know, I was very fortunate and not he's 100 percent right. You know, not all relationships are going to be, you know, oh, well, you just do this and it works out. But I'm saying as a parent and that's where the parent line draws or that's where the parent has to step in and go, you know what? Maybe we don't have a relationship. Maybe we don't get along. But.
As a parent, I still got this unconditional love for you, and I'm still going to talk to you. I'm not going to invade your privacy. I'm going to still get in there and get my hands dirty and figure out what's going on. And that's where, as a parent, you step in. If you can't do it as a friend, you can't do it as a peer, step in as a parent and don't use any excuses to invade some privacy. But, hey, you know what? As a parent, take them to counseling. set up a family counseling session where you sit down in the living room and just let everything out. Everyone does. I've done it. I mean, there are other ways besides going, I'm going to go as sneaky as I can, read this diary, try to figure something out behind their back. Like, no need for that. That's criminal behavior. Okay, I think out of anyone to call someone else a criminal, you probably should. I think that was pretty amazing to see a criminal talking about criminals. That was pretty awesome. Text us at 35253. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. And that topic was blowing up. Right. Our phone lines, our text. This is a very hot topic, as they say. Oh, mama. Oh, mama. Before we went to break, I told you fellas that apparently a study came out that is telling ladies What drives us wild? Finally. Crazy. Now we can all know. Claws coming out. We've been waiting. Figured the secret out. That's right. This will drive us wild. Wild! What is it, Skye? Well, a new study shows that the color red drives men wild. They say they... Oh, listen to Ayo. He's really freaking out over it. Yeah, he just saw Sarah Palin in a race. Yes, he loves it.
So they showed guys a bunch of photos. Like they take the same chick and show them a photo of her in a blue dress. And they'd have to, you know, say how hot they thought she was. And then the same chick in a red dress, same thing. And they found that, you know, consistently the women, when they were dressed in red, were hotter than the same women dressed in different colors. They also did the same thing with the exact same photograph. But they had the, like, matting in the frame in the color red. And then they'd have, like, white matting or blue matting. And always the red men thought were sexier. So researchers, some researchers say that, you know, certain primates, certain male primates who are genetically similar to human are attracted to their female counterparts when they display red, which is a sign that they're nearing ovulation. They want to make wild monkey love. Yeah, so they're speculating that some primitive side of... That's a really turned on monkey. Well, yeah.
Just nearing ovulation. That monkey right there, getting hot, is getting really horny. So hot. So hot. Yeah, so they're speculating. Getting hot in here. So hot. That's right. So take off all your clothes. Hello, monkey. Some primitive part of man still, you know, thinks that that red could be a sign of. That sucks. Why? Red's not my color. Oh, no. See, that's what I want to know. That's what I was wondering. You know why? Yeah, I can't drive men wild. Okay, wait, wait, wait. This is what I want to know. I want to know if, then, there's no way for us to know this, but I would like to ask questions to the people that did the study. Yes. Because different people look good in different stuff. You know what I mean? But wait a second. What if Ashley doesn't think she looks good in red, but she doesn't know? Like, she's not looking at herself through a man's eyes. Maybe guys would love you in red. You don't think you look good. Like, you know how yesterday you said that you liked that shirt that I was wearing? Yeah. I didn't pick it.
My wife did. I love it. And I have a feeling like women know what they like. And I probably wouldn't have picked that because I thought it was a little like, I thought it was kind of sweet and little boyish, you know, kind of. But I liked it. I thought it was cool. But I'm telling you. We should do a test with like Ash. We'll like go to Kohl's, buy a $15 dress in blue and buy the same one in red. Take a picture of her in each. And have people vote. People vote. We'll vote online. I love that. Have men vote. Right? Listen to the frugally conscious sky suggesting that we go to Kohl's. I think they're having a 50% off sale until tomorrow. I think so. You are so cheap. It's unbelievable. And I also have an additional 15% off coupon at Money Money Money. Unbelievable. On top of the savings. Show me the money! All right, fine. Here's my wallet. I'll wear red all the time if that's the case. Yeah. Why don't we do that? Let's have you get a red dress and a blue dress. Do you think that we could find a dress that's exactly the same, comes in the same color?
Yeah, I mean, we can find an outfit or a dress or something. Yes. Yeah, one thing we could do is just find an outfit that's either blue or red, and then in Photoshop we'll change the color. Nice. So it's exactly the same dress. So you can maybe take something you already have if it's just all one color. Oh, I see what you're saying. So she can wear any one dress while making it. Yeah, any nice dress, but it's got to be either blue or red. Send me the picture and I'll change it. Can you bring a dress in tomorrow? Yeah. Okay. That'll be the exact same picture. So there's no like, oh, well, her smile's different or her blah, blah. Yeah. No. Yeah. I've got a blue dress and then you take a picture of me and it, Sean, and then you can just change it to red yourself. Wow. Now, I don't think that we should tell people, right? Like when we bring it up again, we shouldn't. Yeah. Let's just say two pictures of Ashley. Yeah. What's sexier? Vote now. I don't want people to be led. Yeah.
And start clicking, you know. And should we make it, you know, so that we're just asking the dudes. Yeah, dudes only. So you ovaries cannot go on those on the website and vote. Oh, but my ovaries love to blog the space. Well, don't. Don't be buffering up nothing. Don't buffer me. Okay. We'll try not to. Sky has a list of the top five worst duets. Ever. Now, I have these songs here. And so I know, I unfortunately know what they are. Can't do it. I'm going to play some of them. So I can't do it. Can't do it. Ashlyn B-Rob at that parody of Pitcher. Horrible. Number one. How dare you. Number one. We were the worst. Bring that up. Put that up for me. I happily will. Pleasure. George Michael and Michael Jackson in Father Figure. Did they do that together? I don't think so. I don't think they did, no. But there is a Michael Jackson duet on the list. Oh, and Paul McCartney and Wings with Michael Jackson. No, no. Yes, beat it. Beat it, Thriller. Work through that, Rob. You're the worst. I'm so bad. Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.
Ebony and Ivory. Yes. Yeah. We're getting colder. We were on track with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. Okay. With Paul McCartney and Debbie Gibson. Stop it. Rhythm of the Night. Rhythm of the Night, by the way. Witchy Woman. Witchy Woman. I'm going to tell you guys what that one is. Okay. It's The Girl is Mine. Number three. Worst duet ever. This is terrible. It's pretty bad. Who's in this? McCartney and Jackson. I love this song. Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. It's awful. This is great. Oh, yeah. Now, how about the duet between Boston Robb and Ashley? It's got to be awful, right? Number one. It's to that Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow song. It's really good. Heck of a duet. She'd be on like the best duets list. Well, you decide for yourself. Having a work with a dumbbell. I already made the list. Want to crack a joke, but I can't tell. Is she on her meds or is she... This is my life.
This is fantastic. Can someone give that girl wild tea? Oh, no. Never seen a human so sweaty. That's true. If it keeps up like this, we better build it up. Yes. Let's not fight today. Please don't cry today. Cry, cry, cry, cry, cry. Look at you while you're crying. So true. So true. My best friend.
It is, right? That's from back in the days when they used to fight a lot. Oh, yeah. They used to fight a lot. All right, so we're guessing. Worst duets. We got The Girl Is Mine. Yeah. I can't guess either because I know them. There's a couple that should be. Oh, so it's just me? It's you and Sean. And I don't even know any duets. Come on, guys. Dolly Parton and that other guy in that song about the rivers. No. Oh, Islands in the Stream. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, rivers or streams. That song, Cry Me a River. Yeah, Islands in the River. It's not on there, right, Scott? No. One of these songs, the video included some animation.
Oh, that Phil Collins weird freaky thing with the Genesis. Hey, guy, we're doing duets. That's right. Duets. No, do you guys remember that with the Muppets, the video? He's really getting into it. Genesis. Sean, you got a duet. You're really on one today. Okay. Sky is referring to animation and they're actually doing a duet with the animation. Paul Abdul, Fat Pat Fever. MC Scat Cat, Opposites Attract, number two on the worst duet. Who else is in this song? MC Scat Cat. Are you for real? This is another great one. It's an awful song. It's an awful song. Oh, the video is so awesome. Oh, it's an awful song. Really great to do choreography to, but an awful song. Oh, that was the worst guy. And wasn't he wearing, like, high tops? Was she on drugs then, too? Yeah. How long are you smoking that stuff? This cat is awesome. This is a wonderful cat. What a great dancer. I really love those moves. I'm writing a fan letter of that cat. Oh, get me a cat pin.
Hey, Calico face, fetch me a hand. Calico beard. What is your name? Bunny honey. Come here, you little Bucif. I love you. I'm very high. Bufador, come over here. Come here, cat head. I want to see you. Hey, Calico, hon. Come give mommy a kiss. Watch this video with Paula Abdul in it. Let me scratch your angry beard. Come here, you. Let me give it a little scratchy. You little scratch beard. Come on, political kitty. Let's go. Political kitty. Come on, Obama. Let me give Obama face a little tickle. You guys are so close. I'll scratch your little cat face right off. Wow, you're really high. I am. I'm very high. Really high. But I love MC Scott Cat. Yeah. And I love that cat face. Come here, you sexy little booboo. What else? What do we miss? Okay, well, let's just go straight to number one. It is from a soundtrack. Okay. Titanic. Yeah. Again, Rob, focus on duets. Oh, yeah. Duets, Rob. How many times? An actress. Oh, oh, oh.
I have a question. Oh, yeah? What's a duet? It's when two people sing together. Is that French? Okay, so this soundtrack, an actress, she actually sings on this song. Oh, yeah. Gwyneth Paltrow or the other one that looks like her. Oh, yeah. Huey Lewis. Huey Lewis. This should not be on the list. Well, first of all, who's... I downloaded this song. Oh, I love this song. But I'd like to know before we move on, who is the one that looks like Gwyneth Paltrow? I don't know. It's like a twin. Gwyneth Paltrow. Trigger? No, no. You're such a jerk. It's not triggers a horse. It triggers a horse. You're so rude. You're so rude. What are you talking about? Yeah, Gwyneth Petro. I know what he's saying. It's not Cameron Diaz. Yeah, but I know what you're saying. There's someone who looks just like her. This shouldn't be on the list. It's a great song. So played on radio today. Yeah. So good. Really? How do you not let Huey, it's Huey Lewis singing. I know, not his best work. Yeah, so it's Gwyneth Paltrow singing with him, but she sings all right. That's right there, that's Huey Lewis, and that's Gwyneth Paltrow. Definitely an actress. Sounds like a real singer to me.
Are you trying to tell me? I am getting attacked right now. You deserve it. Gwyneth Paltrow is a treasure. What's the matter? Hang on a second. With all that equipment that they have in the studio, they can make anybody sound good. Excuse me. I'm still reeling from Gwyneth Paltrow is a treasure. Thank you. No, I didn't like that you said it. It was weird. Oh, that's a good voice. Yesterday I got an email from P1 Gina, and she said there's something called like voice tune or something like that, and they take anybody and they sing off tune. Auto pitch. Auto pitch? She called it auto tune, but is it called auto pitch? Yeah. And you can have Ashley sing, okay? And you can take her voice, put it through this program, and it'll come out.
Yeah, I don't know of it. I wonder if it would work. Do you think, Seth, it would work? You know what? Paris Hilton sounds all right. That's what she was bringing it up. She said that they use auto-tune or auto-pitch with Paris Hilton. Yeah, it's in Pro Tools. Yeah, we should take one of those tone-deaf songs and put it through this. I would love it. You might break that out. Could we put that in auto-tune or auto-pitch? Yeah. That could be a changing day in my career. It really could. Because if I could somehow make it sound really good, we could get some stuff going, make some music videos, okay? And we could get a little record. David Copperfield can't make that feel good, okay? Nobody. There's not a lot that can be done. I'd be huge. I could blow up. I could be the next Britney Spears. I don't think so. So was that number one on the list? Wow. Of the worst? Yeah. 570-1053 is our phone number. Our text number 35253. by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. After a very rough ride this morning, things are starting to ease up a little bit, especially out of the South Bay in this 805 northbound. That's still going to find some slow traffic coming up right around Home Avenue to the 15, and still very tough out of Kearney Mesa over that 52. It's still heavier, though, on the 5 freeway northbound at Chila Vista. Still finding breaklets up to National City there. Then again past the bridge into downtown. The West 94 King Freeway, now a little bit tight. Still at the 805. Then again from 32nd Street in towards the downtown area here. The westbound 8 is starting to look a lot better as well. It's starting to scatter now right around Lake Murray. Then again from the 805 and past the Q. One more time through Hotel Circle. South 15, starting to pick up some speed out of Escondido, but still a little slow from the 78s down to Via Rancho Parkway. And the coaster ride, South 5, still quite heavy out of Lucadia into Solana Beach. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rockwater 5.3. By the way. There's more.
That's why California teachers say no on eight. Our laws should treat everyone equally. All eight major California newspapers say no on eight. Regardless of how you feel about marriage, it's wrong to eliminate fundamental rights. Vote no on eight. It's unfair and wrong.
Well, I can't believe it took this long, but 82-year-old Cloris Leachman was finally kicked off Dancing with the Stars last night. Chargers fans, your defensive coordinator is out of here. Wow. Ted Cattrall gone. Linebackers coach Ron Rivera in. Ron Rivera was the defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears a couple of years ago. That should say something. So now he's the defensive coordinator for us. Everything looks up. Yeah, I mean, how can you not love that, right? Wow. Was that I love it, girl? No. I think it was. No, that was a random Muppet that just ran into the room. Yelled that and ran out. Yeah, there's that Muppet.
Shoot it. It's weird. Before we went to break, we said that we were going to mention to you the germ hotspots in the house. Mike. Sean's a germaphobe. It's okay, Sean. This is fine. Researchers at the University of Virginia tested surfaces in the home of people with colds and found that there were some hotspots in the home. Now, let's test our germaphobe because A guy that has his home vacuumed every day. If not twice a day. Yeah, if not twice a day, knows stuff. At least once a day, yes, it's true. Take a guess at some places. Yeah, these are in the home, surfaces in the home. Okay. Well, you know, I have, I definitely have very specific things that I target every day for cleaning. Okay. Things that, you know, everybody uses, like the phone has to be cleaned every day. Yeah, phone's on the list. Oh, I take the batteries out of the remote and clean that every day because you get stuff, like, in between the little buttons and stuff. Wait, wait, wait, wait. What? What? What? What? The remote control for the television. What do you do with it? Well, you have to take the batteries out so you don't start turning things off and on.
But you've got to get in between the buttons because people, when they grab the remote, they don't wash their hands. And so you get, you know, junk in there, food gets in there, like all kinds of disgusting stuff. But isn't it weird that you live with your wife? The only other person probably that's going to touch that remote is your wife unless you have company over, which would mean that you're still cleaning that thing. Obsessively. I wouldn't say obsessively. I would not say that. It's not obsessive at all. Well, when somebody washes their hands many, many times, it's not because they have dirty hands because they've already washed them. Well, it's not like I'm sitting there and I'm going over and over it for hours and hours. I just pop the batteries out. I take a cloth. I wipe it down. Then I take a Q-tip and I get in between the buttons and then I'm done. You'd really take a Q-tip? Yeah. Well, how are you going to get in between the buttons? You just go, that's what I do. Hey, if you find some food, that's an extra score, dude. Excuse me. Rob pops that little corner of a Dorito into his left palm and pops it in his mouth. Spittle and all kinds of stuff will get in there if you do something like that. Spittle. Yeah, spittle, by the way. Well, no matter how crazy he is, Sean is 100% correct.
TV remote is on the list of the hot spots for germs in the home. I would not have said TV remote. Never. No one would have. Well, yeah, because my mind is not anywhere near that. Hold on. But if you think about it, it's something that everybody comes in contact with. Those are the surfaces that you have to target. Things like the handle on the fridge. You got to clean that every day. In fact, a couple of times. Again, on the list. Again, on the list. Clean that every day. You're killing this list. The refrigerator door handle. Yes, on the list. Also, the handle on the dishwasher has to be clean. Okay, again, yes. Is it on there? Yeah. He's phenomenal. Even though the dishes inside are clean, what happens is people are in the kitchen. He really thrills me. He thrills me. Can I please? May I please? May I please? May I please?
When you are in the kitchen, people usually have stuff on their hands because they're doing a couple of things at once. And that handle on the dishwasher gets really, really gross. Because if you think about it, it's one of those handles where you have to reach up underneath and pull up underneath there. I don't really think about my dishwasher door handle at all. If you look up underneath it, there's all kinds of stuff on it. I just got a brilliant idea. Get Shauna on the phone. Shauna. Shauna. I have a brilliant idea. What? You guys are going to think I'm kidding, but I'm telling you, if this ever got on the radio, this would be phenomenal radio. Okay. What? Because Sean, knowing what the hotspots are in the house to me, it's thrilling. Thrilling. I'm beyond captivated by the fact that you could have asked me. What are the hot spots? I would have said the toilet handle. And after that, I'm really I don't know. Right. You know, the soap dish, I would say. But beyond that. Neither of those are on this list. They're not. No. OK, great. Yeah. Which shows you kind of, you know, where I am with the germ hot spots. But you ask a germaphobe. Oh, man. He hasn't got one wrong. And how many is he named?
He has named four so far. That's fascinating to me. You're like the rain man of germs. Yes. It's actually, it's just common sense. It's not. Honestly, that's all it is. It's not. I think it is. It is a man who has very intimate experience cleaning these areas. Yes. Again, these are areas that multiple people come in contact with. What happened, Ash? Message. Message. Okay, I'll tell you what my idea is. Yeah, what do you want to do? A great radio show would be on the weekend, one hour of a germaphobe doing a radio talk show. And they talk to other germaphobes. And you get them on the phone. You know, they call in to the germaphobe. It's the paranoid hour. Yes, and you just kind of listen to them. Excuse me. You listen to them share. And in a way, you're not exploiting them because. You are allowing them to share ideas. Yeah, they're helping people, Mike. They're helping one another. Right, you're not exploiting them by calling it the paranoid hour. That's what they are. We were going to call this. It's not. It's a creative name. Excuse me. It's not that people. Excuse me. Excuse me. Excuse.
It's not that people are paranoid. No, it's that you're saying this and you vacuumed drapes at my home at 3 o'clock in the morning. They were filthy. Thank you. He says, he has the rocks to say on the radio here a couple of minutes ago, it's not that crazy that I know this, he said. It's not that crazy. I said it's common sense. It's common sense. Is it common sense to vacuum drapes at a guest's home at 3 a.m.? It depends how dirty they are. Is it common sense to bring your own travel kit in a little black leather carrying case that has individual size bottles of cleaning agents? Did you know that, Ash? Yes. I think it is. Yes. You believe that it is? I believe that it is. Okay. What are you going to do? No, fair enough. Excuse me. What are you going to do if you get there? Excuse. I asked and answered, sir. I asked, you answered. I have another question. Do you believe that it's, what's the word he used? Normal or? Common sense. Common sense. Okay.
Is it common sense that someone would travel? Okay, Rob is violently shaking his head already. Rob is already violently shaking his head. No, Mike, it's not. No, Mike, it's not. But continue. But ask anyway. Yeah. Sean, is it common sense that when visiting a friend on a trip, as you do to my home, that you would carry with you plumber's tape, a, what's that kind of wrench called? Pipe wrench? Pipe wrench? Well, I had a crescent wrench and a robo grip. A crescent wrench and a robo grip. And your own shower head. So that you could switch out our shower head and put on your shower head. Is that common? Well, it depends, Mike. It depends. If the shower that you're getting into literally comes out as a dribble.
Then, yeah, it's common sense. Common sense. It's common sense because you got to, you know, you have to take a shower every day. Got to get clean. All right. Okay, Shawnee. He's fantastic. You're fantastic. You are more fantastic. So do you have more hot spots for me, Sean, or are you tapped out? No, I got more. Okay. Because there's a few more on the list. Oh, I'm so happy. What do we got, Sean? Well, I mean, just like, you know, the handle on the fridge. All the doorknobs. Everybody touches all the doorknobs in the house. Wouldn't have thought of that. It's on the list. It's on the list. Doorknobs. He's phenomenal. Shut. I love it. There's one on this list that I don't think he'll get, but we'll see. There is one that I don't think he's... I want him to shut this list down. Rob, will he get it? Do you think he'll get it? I think he's running out of spots or things to think of in his mind. But I guarantee you, once you say it, he will go, oh, yeah. Okay, then let's make a rule. Why don't we give him a limited amount more guesses? Yeah. Well, there are three more things on my list. Let's give him four guesses. Let's give him four guesses. Yeah, one of these things I don't think he's going to get. But we'll see. Go ahead, Sean. Just like the doorknobs, you also have to wipe down the light switches, all the switches in the house. Yes. Sit on there. Oh, wow. That's one.
The knobs on the bathroom faucet. You have to wipe those. He's two for two right now. But the only one left is the one that I don't think he'll get. And he's got two guesses. I believe in him. Do you? Yeah. All right. When it comes to germs, oh, yeah. He's killed it. If we're in Vegas right now, everything. He's got the only single thing on the list. That's the house. And I'm asking people if I can borrow money to bet. Yeah. It's a sure thing. It's a sure thing. Well, I have a lot more than one left. A lot more. Well, you only get two more guesses. You only get two more. Think this through. So really think about it. A lot is on the line. All right. Since you don't think I'll get it, I'll go with one of the more obscure ones. Okay. I, a couple of years ago, realized that these particular things were nothing but a germ factory. They're open to the air.
Can we define the word factory? Haven't you seen the Mucinex commercials or whatever they're called, Mucinex? Okay, because Webster's defines factory as a building or group of buildings where goods are manufactured or assembled. Chiefly by machine. Well, obviously, I'm not using the term literally. Here's the figurative. Here's the figurative definition. Thank you. Here's the figurative definition. Thank you. A person, group, or institution that produces a great quantity of something on a regular basis or in a short space of time. Yeah. Okay? Yeah. So it is, in fact, a germ factory. A factory, yeah. Because you've got... You've got a vessel holding consumables that's open to the air, and everybody is touching them. What is that? And that's why I got rid of them. I don't even allow them in the home anymore. What? I think he might have it. Yeah. What? I don't like where you're going. I threw out the salt and pepper shakers.
Oh, I thought he was talking about it. Is that it? For real? Yeah. Oh, my gosh. You're a freaking nature. You are the best. Salt and pepper shakers. He's the best. I thought he was talking about cats. No. Don't play it. He didn't need four. Seriously. He didn't need four guesses. He didn't need four guesses. You don't need no handy cats. Yeah, the study also stated that germs can live on surfaces for... about two days or more. He's the Michael Jordan of germaphobes. I can't believe he got every single one. Did you see this list, Sean? No, I did not. I guarantee you he didn't see that list. I don't think he did. Guarantee you he did not. Guaranteed. I know. I would like to have the link to it if I could. I am so proud to be your friend, Sean. Whatever.
You guys get a lot of calls every morning that people will pick on Sky or Ashley or giving Eddie or Sean stuff. Every one of you are great. Thank you, man. The Mikey Show continues on The Rock. Corona Light presents Scary Halloween Corona Stories. We were sitting on the beach when suddenly it started to rain. And then I noticed our bucket of Coronas was empty. And so I went to the cabana, but... They said there was no more Corona. There was a party down the beach, but they also didn't have Coronas. Then I went down the beach to the other bar, and they had no Corona. And when I asked the bartender, where is all the Corona? Okay, what's up with the screaming? It's just so scary, man. This has been Scary Halloween Corona Stories.
This Halloween, don't get too scared. Be sure to stock up on plenty of Corona Extra and Corona Lite. Imported by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. Corona reminds you to celebrate responsibly. Amco. The ones that claim it's about teaching marriage in schools? Here's California's superintendent of public schools, Jack O'Connell. They're absolutely not true. Prop 8 has nothing to do with schools or kids. Our schools aren't required to teach anything about marriage. And using kids to lie about that is shameful. What Prop 8 is really about is eliminating fundamental rights. The League of Women Voters calls it a major threat to our basic...
constitutional rights. That's why California teachers say no on eight. Our laws should treat everyone equally. All eight major California newspapers say no on eight. Rock 105. 8.053 Mattress Center. Otherwise, looking much better after a real rough ride here this morning. We've got just some leftover slowing in the 8.05 northbound as you come out of Kearney Mesa. Heading up over the 52. A few brake lights there. Just getting word of a new accident. North 8.05 just passed the 163 partially in the fast lane. So be cautious there as well. As you make that turn on the westbound 52 off the 8.05, a little bit slow down still.
as you came in towards Genesee, and that stays slope to the 5 connector. Other than that, though, South 163, just a minor delay in through the park heading into downtown. The rest of our freeways are up to speed looking pretty nice. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. Diego's Rock. Mikey's show continues featuring Mikey. I love cars. Eddie. I think I'm immune to Captain Morgan's now. Sky. I am the Google Oracle. Sean. I think about death all the time. Boston Robb. I'm getting real big into jujitsu. And Ashley. I want to eventually join a hip-hop group and, like, perform on the weekends. The Mikey Show's on. Rock 105.3. Call it in the industry. How many spins do you give this record, Mike? I don't remember, but I can say that I played this record when it was a current. That's right. That's Sly 96 FM. Where was that at? San Luis Obispo. Oh, slow down. It was my first morning job. First morning job ever. Shut up.
Yep. Solo. Solo? That's crazy. Solo morning show. No way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I had this black dude that did sports for me. Yeah. His name was Craig, and he was really good. He had a great voice. He had a great voice. He was super short. That's cool. Like Rob Short? Not that short, but I mean, you know. Come on, I wouldn't go that far. He was super short. And he always wore a baseball cap. And yeah, I had to play pop records. And those studios blew this studio away. Don't say that. It's the truth. And it was in San Luis Obispo. And it was like 15 years ago, right? Yeah, that's probably the biggest misconception of mine that's been like squashed since coming into radio is that I always thought.
The bigger the market and the bigger the city and the more big deal the city and market is, the better the equipment and all that stuff. No. Dallas was the biggest market I've ever worked in. It was the fifth largest market in the country. It was the worst studio I've ever worked in. I mean, hands down. The studio was about from the end of the board here to the window. And that's probably eight feet. Eight feet? About eight feet. Oh, my gosh. It was like working in a prison cell. Nice and cozy. And I think I've told you guys this before. The board, the actual mixing board, was brilliantly designed to look at the wall. Oh, good. Well, that inspires you. Like, not a window. There wasn't, like, a window there. So I'm, like, looking in at Ashley like I do now. Yeah. It was just a big wall. Okay. And you know where Eddie was? Where? Where Ashley is. So looking at the back of your head. Behind me. That is so weird. Eddie was looking at the back of my head. I would not be able to do that. And the person that I had doing news, well, there's five of them. Yeah, they went through a nice little string of them. Was to my right. And so I would kind of like turn to the side.
Oh, that must have felt good. And then I'd have to, like, look to my right, away from the microphone to look at Eddie. Oh, that's so awkward. And so that's where those headphones that Rob wears came from. I made them make a, I made the engineering department make me, like, a Britney Spears, you know, lavalier. Type of arrangement. Miss Jackson, if you're nasty. Miss Jackson, if you're nasty. Plus, you did have a dance segment on your show. Yeah, I did. I did have a choreographed dance section, so I needed it anyway. But, yeah, so really glad I did that. Come on. Let's play. Can't do it. Ladies and gentlemen, P1 Trivia. Oh, come on. This is the way that it works. You got to get the five points and you do it through taking one, two or three point questions. Ones are easy. Threes are hard. And that's it. Just get the five points. Of course. That's right. And if you win your way in this Friday, you are required to have a discussion with B-Rob about Prop 1. No. So just be prepared. He has a lot of opinions.
I don't remember it. What's Prop 1? It's like you're building a train or something. Can't do it. There's a lot to it. Rob's got a lot of issues. What's the deal? They want... Can't do it. The state of California wants to build some high-speed train that goes from San Diego all the way up to Sean's house or wherever in the Bay Area. Sean's house, yes. And they want to take our money to build this thing. And they're voting on it. And it's going to be from where? From San Diego all the way to Northern California. How awesome would that be? Dude, that'd be rad. Hold the vote and read about it. They're like, oh, yeah, we'll start in 2011 or something. And, you know, we'll have it finished within three years. Dude, they can't finish the 805-5 merge. They can't finish nothing. They can't get anything under control. How are they going to build this? train. Yeah. Really? I don't think it's going to happen, Mike. And everyone, I hope is... So how are you voting on it? You're voting. You have to vote against it. Yeah, I voted yes on it. I'll vote yes on it. I'll definitely vote yes on it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll tell my wife. This is going to be a disaster.
And it's going to be your fault. Rob was telling me off the air that he believes the earth will melt before this train actually gets completed. You'll never, we will never see this thing completed. Why are you assuming the same people that build the freeways will build a high-speed train system? It's the state of California that's going to do it. No offense to state workers. I got a lot of them back, you know, a lot of friends of mine. Back in Mass. He has a lot of California state workers back in Mass. Back in Massachusetts that are friends. But I'm just saying, when it comes to the state, they're so lazy. So if you win P1 trivia... Don't. You bring that up. If you win P1 trivia, you have to debate Rob in Prop 1. So give us a call, will you? P1 Brittany, you there? How are you? How are you? I'm good. I'm good. This, by the way, is the same P1 Brittany that bought Zeth in the auction. Oh, really? How about that? Really? That's right. Brittany, how old are you? 26. 26? Brittany, how come he hasn't called you? Yeah. Wait, what's the matter with this guy? I don't know. He's busy, I guess. I thought he was dead. I know it. He is. No, he's not dead. He's just a jerk. Oh, wow. We're gay. We're working. Guys. We're still out. You're gay. Rob is laughing hysterically right now. Like, I don't think I've ever seen Rob. Does not define you. Oh, my.
Rob, there's the woman I'm sexually attracted to. Skye's filling in for Eddie because he's not here. Skye's filling in for Eddie. She's really on one day. Jokey jokes. I am not gay. I never have been gay. I got lightheaded. I'm a little lightheaded. Well, you got to understand. I mean, Zeth gives her a little of the business and, you know. She comes with a little extra business when she gives him business. A little too much business. Sounds gay. That was business to the rocks right there. Business right up into his rocks. Thank you. Brittany, how many years are you listening? How many years listening, Brittany? Less than a year. Oh. Oh, hello. Hello. Well, you're going to have your work cut out for you. I love Brittany. She's awesome. Okay. All right. You ready to meet your competition? Yeah, I am. Competition is P1 Bass String. Hi, Bass String. Hey, good morning, Mikey. How you doing, dude? Pretty good, bro. Good. How old are you? 36. All right. And how long have you been listening? I've been listening to you since you followed BC and Woody. Yeah, this is going to be a tough competitor here. This is a P1 cider. This is a friend. Dude, you've been listening since I did the nighttime show? Oh, yeah. Mandatory Metallica, bro.
Oh, wow. That is a longtime listener. Well, this is going to be one heck of a competition. Yeah. I've been on this radio station 13 years. So, yeah. All right. Well, let's do this. Yeah. Come on. To make it fair, Brittany, I'm going to start with you. What do you want? A one, two or three point question? I'll tell you one. You got it. There you go. Let's see. Who is the only female P1 to be inducted into the P1 Hall of Fame? P1 Quimby. That is correct. I love her. Who, by the way, sent me an instant message right now saying, wow, you guys are playing P1 trivia today? Okay, Quimby. We're not very professional. Yes, sorry. We're not a professional show. It should have been done Monday. We're sorry. P1 bass string. Give me a two. You want a two-pointer? Two, please. Who on the show recently started playing Guitar Hero a lot? That would be the man who's not there, Eddie. That is correct. Good. It's two to one, P1 Baystring. P1 Brittany? I'll try two. You're going to go two points. Here is your two-point question. What two members of the show were... Didn't I ask that? Contestants on the Mikey Show Apprentice? Didn't I ask that last week?
I have to mark that one off. Mark it off, Mike. P1 Brittany, name one of the three P1 judges for the 28-hour show's Mikey Idol. Name how many? Name one of the three P1 judges for the 28-hour show. There's Quimby and Paparazzi. Wow, you named all three. No, three. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new leader. Brittany is winning three to two. Wrap it up. Space String. Got to try and close it out with a three. Your three-point question is, who on the show has been married the longest? This guy. That is correct. Wow. Brittany, extremely well done for listening in less than a year. You get to come in, too. Oh, yay. Zeth. I'll make it awkward. Brittany, you get to come in, too, and congratulations, Space String. Hey, thanks, Mikey. Yep. Tell B-Rob you can expect a cider on Friday now. Oh.
Money, money, money. All right. Second order of business we have to do is that tomorrow we're going to do another Ashley eating competition. Oh, please. I'm hungry. That's right. Awesome. Mommy needs some food. I'm hungry. So tomorrow we're going to do another eating competition. And so we need a girl to call us at 570-1053 to take Ashley on. Can we tell her what we're eating? Yep. We're going to be eating. Mini corn dogs. Oh, delicious. Are Skye making them? Ashley can kill them. Mike, how many did I have at Skye's house? 149. Right? 1,000. Delicious. She threw them down. Yeah, dude. So what are you thinking, Ashley? Do you need ketchup and mustard? I do. You took the words right out of my mouth. Again, with this tactic, just like with the chicken nuggets, I would prefer a little ketchup to dip in before I... launch it into the... And what's going to be your technique? Like, are you going to peel the corn stuff off and eat the hot dog? You can't peel it off. You've got to eat that. Hey, that's what I am. That's what I do. What? You take mini corn dogs. Yeah. And you take the cornmeal off the outside. You cut up the hot dog with the knife and fork, eat that, and then cut up the outside and eat that. That defeats the whole purpose of the...
Corn dog. Yeah, why don't you just get a hot dog and a piece of cornbread? They don't sell it like that. That's the story. This is after he washes his remote with a Q-tip. Right. So remember who we're talking to. Mike is Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone. Yes. And then for dessert, he has blueberry bonnet baby food. Oh, that's not true. I can't argue with that. Sounds lovely, Sean. Blue bull berries. No, it's blue. Blue bonnet. No, it's blueberry buckle, but whatever. Blueberry. He eats baby food and it's called blueberry buckle. Sounds tasty. So we need a girl that can come in here tomorrow morning and take Ashley on in an eating competition. And the item is mini corn dogs. 570-1053. Yeah, Ashley doesn't. That's the whole purpose of it. With the women and the, oh, you need to be a size zero. It's not cool to eat and be hungry and have an appetite and have food. Listen, screw all that. So Ashley's actually doing a public service is really what this is all about. She's trying to let the ladies know. You can go out there and be competitive eaters. It's okay to eat. It's okay to be a fatso. It's all right. Well, we don't use that word. Go ahead, swell up.
Yeah. Swill off. Like a gas balloon. Hey. P1 Melissa. Hi. Melissa, how old are you? I'm 21. You're 21 years old. Are you willing to take Ashley on tomorrow? Absolutely. All right. You got to come down to the station. Is that cool? That's cool. All right. It's mini corn dogs. I'm a go for that. All right. Hang on. How much do you weigh? Yeah. How much do you weigh? Welcome back. It's the Mikey Show. It's 938. Obama's doing something different. He has paid to air a half-hour TV ad on multiple networks during prime time tonight. Charges fire defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell and promote the linebacker coach Ron Rivera. Ron Rivera was a defensive coordinator for the Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears. So that's a good thing, right? Yes! Seems like it to me. Super Bowl caliber. I mean, we've had people calling this morning that were Chicago Bear fans saying, you guys just got a great deal. And we had one Chicago Bear fan call this morning and say that he thought that when Rivera left, that the Chicago defense was softer in some areas. You guys will find out in what. Another couple weeks. Week and a half, yeah. They're off. And it's kind of good that he's got that bye week to work with everybody and kind of get everyone up to par. I think it's good timing. This email says, Sean rules exclamation point. It says, five seconds left on the clock. Jordan has the ball. He shoots. It's good. Michael Jordan has done it again. And now, Sean.
That was thrilling. The way Sean executed that slow building tease was simply brilliant. This is Sean's world. We're just living in it. He is the Michael Jordan of germaphobes. Like Sean was in charge of like making policy. Oh, please. Everyone would have to wear latex suits every day. No, that's not true. I would not do something like that. Oh, I'm sorry. That's extreme. I shouldn't have said that. He would 100% do that. Of course he would. What are we, children? What are we, children? Have you guys seen the 50s pin-up girl style pictures of Ashley? Oh, my gosh. Amazing. They're really good. Amazing. I'll send them to you, Sean. What are you talking about? You've got to see this, Sean. Yeah, these are great pics. Ash, what is this for?
It was just for fun. I got a MySpace message from a photographer, and normally, like, it will sketch me out, but I, you know, wrote him back. I checked out his profile, and his name was Johnny Angel. He's a listener, and I really liked his work. His whole style was very, like, pin-up girls, and I digged that. So I caught him on the phone, and we talked, and seemed real cool. So we met up, and... He had a girl there, Marla, who does hair and makeup and wardrobe, and she took care of me on that side, and he took the pictures. We went to Coronado Beach and shot, and it was so much fun. Yeah, these pictures are really great. Did you see it, Sean? No, I'll send them. Are we allowed to post them on our site, Ash? Would he be okay with that? Oh, of course. Yeah, no, he would love that. I think the listeners would like to see. Yeah, dude. They're really cool. Yeah, well, remember when everybody came over to my house for my birthday barbecue and everybody was playing poker and I ran down the stairs and I said, hey, girls, whatever you're not in the middle of a hand, come upstairs real quick. And I was like, but I'm in the middle of a hand right now. Of course, that was you. Yeah, well, that's because Ashley had gotten the first proof back from that shoot. And I was just so blown away by, I mean, it's just, it's classy, but sexy and gorgeous.
Classy fun? Is it classy fun? No, it is not classy fun. Classy fun. No, no. Ashley has moved past classy fun. Different time. Different time. Yeah, this is actual classy. I just made one of the pictures black and white, and I think it looks cool like that. Ooh. That's really cool. I wanted to see that. Come look. Come look. I just made it black and white. I think it looks cool like that. Like, it looks like a real picture from the, you know, 50s pinup style. Yeah. That's really, really neat. Photographer's a real good photographer. Great. Did you see the very first one she ever got? Did you send him the first one of you on The Rock? Yeah. It's really great. That looks cool. Yeah, I had a little talk with Ash, though. I'm like, okay, let me get this straight. Some dude gets in contact with you on MySpace and says he wants to meet you and take pictures of you. Yeah. I'm like, yeah, your big sister has an issue with that. But she sounds like she was very responsible and checking him out, making sure he was legit before, you know, meeting up with him. You see it, Sean? Midnight. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, by myself. Hey, Ash, send Sean the link that you, you know, with all the different pictures. And then, or actually, yeah, yeah, yeah. Crazy. We'll get these up on the site. Beautiful pictures. Thank you. Thank you.
I know I keep telling her I'm like harassing her. I'm like you need to do something with these pictures. I'm like don't you know end up you know my age and then looking back on these pictures going gosh I should have submitted these to somebody or I should have made a you know portfolio. Who do you submit them to? I don't know, like modeling agencies, local talent agencies. I don't know, just do something. Boston Rob's like, yeah, I got a modeling agency I just opened. Yeah, out of the trunk of your car. It's bostonrobsmodels.org.edu. EDU? That's weird. It's a new professional university devoted to the study of models. Yeah, what do we learn there? We learn how they interact with... The fellow models in a very homogenous and theoretical way. Choose words that sound good. Okay. Ash, were you ever able to get that message from your mom? No. She had a message, and I was going to play it on the air. Her mom went, husha. No. It was great. Ash, I'll figure it out. We got really cool changes coming to the Mikey Show's website.
Yeah. And just really cool stuff. Like, we're going to be telling you some stuff, P1s, that you're just going to freak out about and go, are you kidding me? Your favorite morning show is about to get even more favoriter. Wait. Huh? Totally. Well said. You know what I mean. I just said I don't know what that means. I think you meant exactly what I was saying. No, I... You know it. Okay. This is from Boston Rob's yesterday email. On the way home from boxing, I stopped to get ingredients to make lunch, including a green Anaheim chili. I'd never cooked a green chili before, the kind they make chili rallianos out of. I looked it up on the web and it said to fry it and then put it in a plastic bag to get the skin to peel off easier. Everything went wicked smooth getting that chili skinless. I don't know that...
Frying it was really... Yeah, dude, I'm telling you. And this was amazing. Here we go. Amazing. I love these green chilies. Who is this guy right now? He's so domestic. I know, right? Check this. Check it out. This is the same guy that's got Boston tattooed across his neck. Yeah, same guy who didn't show up for work, and we found him on a website because he was in the drunk tank. Well, yeah, we found him on the San Diego Police Department's website. But let me tell you what I did with Anaheim Chili. I love these green chilies. They're delicious. They're delicious and nutritious. Yeah. And I called my fiance because I was freaking out. I was like, I don't know how to cook these things. And when do I put the green onion in with my saute mix that I'm doing? She's like, just look things up on the web. So I was like, all right, this interweb, I can work it. Yeah. Well, they said you're supposed to put like vegetable oil in, you know, like.
What is it called? I just have a pan. I just have a frying pan. Well, your pan is actually a Campbell's soup can that's been cut in half. You use it as a pan. You use it as a pan. You're supposed to deep fry the chilies for a second, and it makes the skin start to peel. I've never heard of that. See, dude, I understand the peeling that skin off, but the way that I do that is, you know, I roast it, you know, over a flame. This is better. My brother did that. This is better frying it. Dude, I'm telling you. I put some butter. Into, you know, my frying pan. And so it was in the corner. So it was like, you know, like hot, hot, hot. Yeah, yeah. Just check it. Just check this. But butter tastes like butter. Delicious. Drying a chili in butter. Dude, I'll do this for you. And you'll be like, oh, man, you changed my life. Really? You changed my life. Dude, I never even thought of like butter chilies. So I cut them. I cut them. I hollowed them out. I split them in half the long way. and I threw them in there in the butter. Yeah. Right? We were all thinking it. And they fry up, and you just do it for maybe like two, three minutes. Each side, just flip them, flip them, flip them, flip them, and you'll see the skin start to rise off. Then what? Then I grab them all, and you know the little plastic grocery bag that you put them in, the vegetable bags? Yeah. I open that thing up. I saved it. It's still good. You can reuse that all week long if you want. Oh. Okay.
I grab the chilies out of it, I throw them in the plastic bag, and I close it so it airtight. And it seals it, and then you just leave them alone for a few minutes. So what did you do after you took the skin off the chili? I ate them. You just ate them just like that? What's wrong with that? I mean, he goes through all of that. Like, I thought he was making this recipe. It was all that just to eat it. No, not re-anals. What, am I rich, Sean? Yeah. I'm not part of the Kennedy family. Oh, that's great. I was making, like... I'm not Taylor Hicks. Well, who is, really? No, I was sautéing some onions and some sausages and peppers. But that, I just wanted to eat those. You made sausage? Oh, my gosh. You made sausage?
And peppers, and then you took the skin off of an Anaheim chili and you just ate it? Yeah, I like those. Those are like my new favorite food. Eddie said to him yesterday, they were talking off the air, and Eddie goes, dude, I'm not kidding. You eat like a hobo. That was like my appetizer. Oh, classy. Dude, they are so good. Well, I was going to put cheese on them, but the only cheese I got at the house right now is provolone, and I wouldn't mix well with that. Right. You wouldn't want to do that. I mean, because you're already mixing Anaheim chili with sausage and peppers. You wouldn't want to spoil the integrity of that. Cheese would be weird. Yeah, provolone. Cheese would be weird. Be out of the question. That's already pretty weird, Rob. Not really. So you just ate the chili just like that? Yeah. It's awesome. Dude. Those things are just good. They're just good, delicious. Try one. He's unbelievable. Dude. He's a strange guy. And the butter, it just, I don't know, brings out the flavor. Read about it. Good question here, Sean. If Sean doesn't have a salt and pepper shaker, how does he salt his milk? I actually have a, I like kosher salt. And I keep it in a, it's like a jar, like a glass jar.
And so, like, you keep your sugar, your flour, that kind of thing. And it's got one of those sealable tops where it's got the gasket around the top. And just open it up, take a spoon, whatever you need. Done, done. He's fantastic. Just like that. This text says, Mikey, are you guys dressing up on Friday? Oh, hello. I guess we can, you know. I'm going to come as an old lady. So just wait for it. Yeah, that'll really be fantastic. A sleepy, tired old lady. That's right. No, I was thinking more along the line of like maybe some pajamas with my, you know, my grandma's sweater. Oh, like you normally wear. Yeah, yeah. Sometimes. You might not recognize me. Remember last year, Sky came as like a really, really risque hooker. She wore a tank top. I was showing a lot of arm last year. It was crazy. I'm a stripper, guys. Check out this book I'm reading. Okay, Rob. Let it die. I don't understand that joke. You do understand. You don't know. I don't understand. Mike, there is a rich and delicious story behind that. What is it? You are so dumb right now, Rob. Little city called New Orleans. New Orleans.
And Skye was down there at this casino. Everyone heard this a million times. She had lost all her money doing something or other, betting on ham. And they were like, it's only numbers here, lady. I was betting on ham. She just kept throwing money, going, ham, ham. Take her money again. So she takes a break and goes over to the bar. What book were you reading anyways? Do you remember what book you were reading? No, I hadn't discovered Nora Roberts yet. I think this was when I was in my John Grisham phase reading all of his books. So it was probably one of those. Yes, because all hookers read John Grisham novels. Oh, they're so good. She was reading Jurassic Park. Yes. Which he did not write. That's Crichton, bro. They're all the same. But anyway. Yeah, he was reading John Grisham's Jurassic Park. Whatever, dude. Get out of here. I'll take the story over from here. Are you upset me?
So the vice cops working inside of the Harris Casino thought that Skye was a hooker and escorted her to the door. Why would they think that? Well, because she was sitting alone. She was dressed very provocatively. Well, we had an event. We had this little dinner thing we were going to afterwards. Skye was dressed sexy. She was sitting at the bar by herself reading a book, and apparently that's what the working girls do. I had no idea. And so they escorted her to the door. I did not know. I've never seen her so upset. I used to read a book at the bar at Harrah's Rincon all the time with no problem. It must be a New Orleans thing. Can you imagine if a guy had come up to her and left? Can you imagine? So you on the clock? Dude, and like, to be honest. It probably would have taken a half hour for me to figure out what that guy was asking. I'd be like, no, I work Monday through Friday. In the mornings, in the mornings. Are you here for the convention, too? He's like, mornings, like, what, what, 12, 1, 2, 2 in the morning? No, no. I don't get it. There it is. 570-1053 is our phone number.
And our text number is 35253. Listen to this. This is a candidate for Congress in Northern California. I got one yesterday. You guys get these messages, your phone rings, you answer it, and it's a political ad? Yeah, it's like a pre-recorded deal, yeah. Take a listen to this political ad. Cut 12. Mike Thompson's been a bad boy. We all said no to the bailout, but Thompson backed. Oh, my gosh. Hey, I'm voting yes. Well, he's definitely got the male, you know, 18 to 34-year-old vote there. Wow. Now, you know, listen, women maybe in their, you know, I don't know. Who knows? There may be some people that may go, that's a little different.
Some people did, and there was a controversy, and here he is responding to it. Cut 30. Well, I don't condone this type of message, and it's not the message that I wanted to send. I really think it's been exaggerated on a large scale. But that was your message. How do you not approve it? You approved it. I mean, it was done by you. How does that work? I don't even have any guesses on how that works and why he's saying that. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. How does it get played then? Yeah. He's a young guy running for Congress. He's a 27-year-old grad student from UC Davis. Oh, come on. You can hear in his voice that he's a little young. Yeah. Just from that one clip, I already judged him and don't like him. Yeah. He's gone for a while to figure out politics. I feel you, Rob. If you listen to him in that clip again, it sounds like he's lying about it. Well, he says on one hand, he says, I don't approve of that. And then on the other hand, he goes, it's being blown out of proportion. Right. Well, which is it? Let's hear the clip again. Well, I don't condone this type of message. And it's not the message that I wanted to send. I really think it's been exaggerated on a large scale. What part's been exaggerated? Like, in other words, when people are reporting on it, they're adding to the audio?
Like audio that doesn't exist and they're exaggerating the audio that's already there. Thank you. Wow. I don't understand. Yeah. Me either. Quick time out. Yo, you don't even know what stupid is. Evans and Jackson will shift decisions away from district office administrators and into the hands of parents and teachers so people who understand each community can design programs to help their kids succeed. Saving money by cutting bureaucracy.

That's why California teachers say no on eight. Our laws should treat everyone equally. All eight major California newspapers say no on eight. Regardless of how you feel about marriage, it's wrong to eliminate fundamental rights. Vote no on eight. From my former neighbor, Richard Trifus. Oh, yeah. He's kind of a strange guy. What did he call your wife? An angel. You're an angel. You're an angel. So awesome. She found his wife's wallet. His explanation to her of her being an angel for him. It's a true story. Yeah, yeah. You used to live down the street. Richard Trifus lived down the street. I'm not kidding. Classic. My wife found his wife's.
Wallet. Returned it to him in his bathrobe. And he put his hands over his heart and he went, you're an angel. It was as if two pirates were fighting one another. And then you came along and saved the day. What does that mean? She didn't know. I don't know. I don't think anybody knows what that means. But it's fantastic. He's one of the greatest actors ever. So he's in this new movie, W. Oliver Stone. Oliver Stone movie. And what's so weird is he doesn't really like Oliver Stone. How crazy is that? Not only that, but he's a little critical of the movie. Yeah. I mean, he's in the movie, but he's critical of the movie. And he's critical of the movie maker, the director. Which is weird because he's on The View when he's saying this stuff. And you would assume the reason he's booked on The View is to promote his movie. Yeah. Right. And he's talking smack. Yeah.
Cut 16. I think it's six-eighths of a great film. Six-eighths. I think the acting is terrific and I think a lot of the writing is good. But I don't really know why Oliver didn't come to a conclusion with it. How'd you like working with Oliver? Stone. Oliver Stone. Imagine working for Sean Hannity. I would like that. Really? Then you'd like working with Oliver. Oliver believes... They're the opposite philosophically. Yes, they are. You know, you can be a fascist even when you're on the left. Oh, I see. So with the other, the quarter of the film that you found a problem, you're saying the quarter of the film that you would like to change was the conclusion. You'd like more wrapped up. I think there's a character missing from the film. I think it's a very good and shockingly empathetic picture of Bush. Why do you say shockingly? Because everyone expects him to be anti-Bush. And it's really very sympathetic to him. Richard. But it leaves out us. Because we were all terrified of our own president. And that terror was our reality. And that character is not in the film. So that I question whether or not the film will have any historic legs. I wasn't terrified by our president.
You were terrified? Yeah. I was nervous that I felt that somebody who wasn't very intelligent was in control. I felt that he, him and his people, I should say, basically created fear in our country. They were becoming, or their friends were becoming rich on our fears. And that freaks me out. I don't feel that there was a conspiracy for his friends to make money, but I do. I can see where you're going with the man. It kind of seems like there was a dum-dum in office. Dum-dum with his finger on the button. Now, honestly, I don't really think that Bush is a dum-dum. I think that when he communicates, he sounds like a dum-dum. And Skye's got a calendar in her office that makes him look like a dum-dum. Oh, it's my favorite. And it's real. It's not even messing around. It's actual photographs. There's a picture that Skye has of President Bush. It's my favorite one. It's one of my favorites so far, too.
President Bush is holding his dog in his hands and he just got off Air Force One and he's trying to salute while the dog is in his hands. And so he's holding the dog up to his forehead. Yeah, the dog is covering like half of his face and then he has his little salute up. Oh, it's it's beautiful. Now, I don't think that dude is actually dumb, but he does some things and says some things that make him appear to be a dumb guy. But he was a very was. And is a very successful guy before he became president. And after becoming president. But he came from a very successful family. He did. He did. But he. Like he's a self-made man or anything. He made some very good decisions in his business dealings with acquiring the Texas Rangers. And in his dealings with. various business people. I love it. And I don't think that Bush, I don't, I listen, I would not have, there's a primary going on. I would not have voted for Bush because I, he wasn't a, he didn't communicate to me in a way that made me think, oh yeah, I'm behind this guy. But I don't think that he's as bad as he's been made out to be, but it's easy to.
Get on it because, man, he doesn't help himself with saluting the dog up to his face. I know, I know. We'll get to it. I don't even know what it is. I know, I know. Yeah, he's fun times. You know, the same deal with, it's the same deal with McCain. McCain. It's the same deal with McCain. What? What's the same deal? He's not a good communicator either. Oh, that's true. Can you smell what the Mac is cooking? And? I don't think that Obama has the substance, but he's the best communicator I've ever seen. We love that. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Americans love it. We love it. I think he's the second greatest. Oh, man. Here we go. Come on, please. Man, does Sean have a love affair with Bill Clinton? I'm being serious, dude. I mean, come on. No, he was good. I don't think he's as good as Obama. Oh.
I wish I could smack you. He's not as good of a... He doesn't give a speech like Obama does. That's Obama's deal. Oh, yeah, he does. Sean really likes him. Yeah, I don't think you're going to win this one, Mike. Just YouTube it. I'm going to say, go to YouTube, search for Bill Clinton's speech, and prepare to have your socks blown off. All right. Along with your shorts. I liked Huckabee. Huckabee was a great communicator, and I thought he had a lot of ideas and stuff to go behind it, but he didn't make it. He made it farther than I thought he was. I hope someday he comes back. He probably will. He's pretty good. I'm not down with either candidate this year. I'm going to have to live with one of them. We're either going to have our first black president or our first female vice president. Oh, sorry. I thought that was what we were saying. I thought we were talking about the presidential candidates. It's not where I was going.
Hey, Bubba, who's running for president? See if you can get my wife on the phone and see if Jake's there. Because now he knows more political information. He's probably not there. He went to the liquor store, dude. Yeah, he's down at the liquor store seeing what's up. He's already 45. Duh. He's fun. But he's got some more stuff memorized that you will enjoy. In West Hollywood, Secret Service, we're looking at this Halloween display that... Is this the palin on a rope? Yep. What's the deal? Well, this guy in West Hollywood did the Halloween decorations and he decided it would be neat to take two mannequins. One is dressed up like John McCain and is coming out of the chimney with flames.
fake flames surrounding him. And then right under where the chimney is, hanging from the eaves of the house, is another mannequin dressed up to look like Sarah Palin hanging from a noose. And so, of course, people are complaining. The city's getting involved. They're wondering if this can be considered a hate crime. So the Secret Service went out there to check it out and said that, yeah, this display is not a threat. This person doesn't intend to harm anyone. Can't do it. Just their expression. I don't think you're really supposed to do that, and you can get in trouble if you go too far, right? If you do stuff that's too much, if you put hate stuff, right? Well, yeah, I don't know. I'm just trying to kind of think, you know. It's like, okay, well, we can have a kind of John Doe type of guy hanging from a noose in our front yard. Like, that's okay, but I guess once it resembles somebody, that's... Because they're a government official or something? I saw the pictures, and it was a Crypt Keeper mannequin.
It just looked like McCain because he's so old. Hey, what's this all about? In Hayward, parents are upset after kindergartners were asked to sign a pledge card promising not to use anti-gay slurs. Why are parents upset? I don't know. They're tying this news story, and I don't know if it's the parents or what, but to Prop 8, saying that they're trying to influence kids to be sympathetic. to homosexuals and their cause and with Prop 8 and the political climate, this isn't appropriate and parents are upset. Because the big deal for Prop 8 and the pro-Prop 8 people are claiming that if gay marriage is a thing in California, it will start to be taught in school. And do you want teachers telling your kids about gay marriage? And of course the school says, yeah, that's not true at all. Marriage is nowhere in our curriculum.
curriculum this would that would never actually happen and so they're now jumping on this story saying see see see and so the school in hayward is saying actually these pledge cards are something standard that we do with older students it shouldn't have been for the kindergarten class it's meant for older students but has nothing to do with prop eight we're not teaching gay marriage we're just trying to you know um accept everyone why did it get in the hands of kindergartners I guess the teacher, like, handed them out. I don't know if it was a miscommunication. They don't specifically say because they do. The teacher's up to something. Do you think so? The teacher's, and I don't know if it's one, if the teacher is a yes propator or no propator. I don't know which one they are. But you don't give kindergartners that. What if the same teacher gave them to sign a petition or whatever it is for a pledge form for not to use racial slurs? Do you think that teacher has an agenda? Yeah. Really? Yeah, I would think something was up with that. Oh, interesting. I would think something was up with that because like they're little kids. Like if they sent something home saying, I will not call my classmates bad names, I would get it because it's little kids. They get that, you know? And if there was a little kid that was like using racial slurs. Right.
I think that you would pull that kid's parents over and say, hey, did you know your kids like using racial slurs? But to send something home saying, let's sign a pledge card. And I don't know if it actually went home or not. I don't know if they signed it like they're in class or if it actually went home with them. I'm not exactly sure how that specifically went down. I mean, because you imagine that they're handing it out and they don't want it to go home and they're just like, OK, kids. will you guys sign this thing saying that you won't use any anti-gay slurs? And the five-year-olds are like, what is that? What's an anti-gay slur? Can you give us an example of one? Yeah. I mean, it's, and I don't, like I said, like, I don't know if this is a yes on Prop 8-er because they're like, the teacher has it in their head. If I do this, it'll look like we are, we really are bringing it into the schools. Right. Or if they're a no on Prop 8-er. And their agenda is we think it's important that these kids know what kind of like not harassment, but what kind of suffering and what kind of like whatever. Criticisms. Personally, I asked a high school teacher if they knew of any like stuff that they were going to have to start teaching in terms of curriculum. And they said no.
Okay, so now I asked one high school teacher, that's what they said. And the reason that I asked is I didn't, I wasn't really getting that. You know, I wasn't really getting that. You weren't getting what? That that's what was going to start happening. Oh, that's what the yes on eight people are. I know, I know. That's what their signs say. Well, hang on a minute. Protect our children. I am a yes on Prop 8. Right. Which is really confusing because I think a lot of people go, they instantly go yes and no. And so they go, oh, yes, they get it backwards. Yes, voting yes on Prop 8 means that you do not want gays in California to have the right to be married. No means you do think that they have the right to be married. Sky is a vote no on Prop 8, and I'm a vote yes on Prop 8. So yes stays traditional marriage.
Yep. No. Yeah. And there are many angles that we yes on eight folk are going for. There's many angles in it. And one of the angles that I am not very convinced of is that angle that you just brought up, which is the they're going to pull down a big thing in class of eight year olds and say, this is a homosexual. Guys, and let me tell you what a homosexual is. And I don't necessarily get that. But what I do feel strongly about is that marriage be between a man and a woman. And that marriage not be between a man and a man and a woman and a woman. Why? Is it just based on your faith? Let me tell you. I have a lot.
of thoughts on this but it's 10 19 okay yeah we'll be here till tomorrow yes okay another day but we can discuss because i think it's a great great topic especially with as a matter of fact i think that just talking about the propositions is a good thing yeah that'd be cool and just learning about them and learning whatever because like a bunch of people like what what do these even mean no one won stop it rob I say yes on one. Oh, you're ruining California. We're already in debt, and this is just going to cost more. No. Well, Chad Johnson apparently agrees with you. You're happy with us being in debt, Sky? I don't want to be in debt. No. I just want to get to San Francisco quick. No. I just want to make things better. Awesome. Get some cars off the road. It was like a really nice scenery. I hope they build it along the beach. No. Along the shorefront. That would be really gorgeous. That would ruin the wildlife here. Wow. Shut up. Wow. You don't even know what you're talking about. Wow, Sky. He does. I do. I read a life killer. Yep. Yep, that's what I do. Wow. We all figured out. 570-1053. Our text number is 35253. Let's see. Mikey, gas is $1.99 in Columbus, Ohio. Oh, and it's going to keep plummeting down until Tuesday. Right.
And then what happened? Why is it? Do you think that it's because of the election? That's why. It is. It's a fact. How does that work? Dude, I'm telling you because. Yep. Why? Oh, this upsets me. Oh, that's usually where it stops. That's usually where. No, it's because, dude. The Republicans, Sky, you should be on board with this. The Republicans want us to be all happy. Sky, follow me here. Track with me here. They want us to be all happy when election time rolls around because gas isn't out of control. Because if gas was four or five bucks a gallon right now, everyone would be upset and they'd go, oh, why is it like this? Because who's in the White House? George Bush is in the White House. So, of course, he's affected gas prices. But if it's low and everybody's happy, then they're going, oh, obviously, George Bush, he made everything all nice because gas prices are low. Rob, I like it. I'm going to vote Republican. I like it. I like it. That's news to me. The reason that gas prices are lower right now is because we have a Republican president. But what about the last seven years and 11 months? That's what I'm saying. All I know is that, hey, all I know is Bush figured it out.
And he figured it out for the last season. Then let's just give him another term. And you want to know something? And that's what they're doing. People are going to vote on how they feel right now. You like your low gas prices? Don't vote on how you feel now. You like your low gas prices? Vote for John McCain. Yeah, and you'll get him for the last month of his last term. Thank you, Mr. McCain. Thank you. Thank you, Mikey. You're welcome, Mr. McCain. You're very, very welcome. Thank you, Mikey. Sure. I heard you, sir. Dixie, hear me? Thank you, Mikey. Mr. McCain, I said I heard you. Can you hear me? Thank you, Mikey. Mr. McCain, can you... Thank you, Mikey. Mr. McCain! Thank you, Mikey. Never mind. 570-1053. Can you smell what the Mac is cooking? I sure can. Smells old. Smells like cheap gas and old guys. That's right. Mothballs. P1300's on the line. Hey, what's up, Mikey? What's up, dude? Nothing, man. I just wanted to comment a little bit on some of Rob's parenting ideas from earlier in the day. Yeah. You know, like he was talking about, you know, can't you just spank the 15-year-old and send him to their room? Imagine if he ever has a 15-year-old son. The kid's going to be twice his size.
Well, if he has a five-year-old side of life. Yeah, I mean, hello. He has an infant. I don't care. He's spanking and you go in your room. Thank you. If he has a preemie, it'll be like... P1 Kitty McMue is on the line. Oh, no. Hey, how you doing, Mikey? Good, what's up? Hey, listen, I just want to say that Sean was absolutely awesome on his germaphobe test. I was cheering for him all the way up. I don't know why this is happening. He was fantastic. Yeah, it wasn't even a test. It was a test. If he failed, he couldn't be a germaphobe anymore. Yeah, he was bigger than the SATs. Yeah, he's a Michael Jordan of germaphobes. I don't think so. Like, germaphobes are impressed. They're like, well, I'm no Sean, but, you know. I'm working on it. I'm working on it, but he can get into germ you. That's right. Well, I hope you enjoyed it because it's never going to happen again. Mikey's show. Hello. It's going to happen again. Hello? Hey, this is P1 Green Thumb. What's up? What's up, man? I was just curious. Do you guys have a link on MikeyShow.com for Boss and Rob's, all of his different songs that he's redone? No, we don't. We don't have a link with all the different songs. Maybe. Maybe. I've been looking for it for like a week. Maybe. What do you want? What song? All of them.
Oh, gosh. It's a lot of creative material you're asking for. A lot. It's a lot of creative material you're asking for there, Buckaroonie. All right, dude. Thank you. Mikey Show. What's up? Thank you. Two and a half years ago, gas was $2.42 a gallon. Then the Democrats took over the House and Senate, and everything went to hell from there on out. Thank you. Yeah, let's move to Europe. Oh, Democrat, it's easier than working. Then the laugh. Then the laugh. Ladies and gentlemen, the lovely and talented Missy is coming up next. Thank you, Mikey. She's got the all-request lunch. So give her a call, make a request, and we'll see you back here tomorrow morning at 5.30. The Mikey Show's out. Later. Love your mouth.
