The show swung from deliberately silly bits to serious confessions: the crew teased Sean over the panda song, then made Ashley decode idioms in The Village Idiom while Mikey, Sky, and callers judged her answers. Weekend Worry Wart featured a man preparing to tell his traditional Muslim mother his white girlfriend was pregnant and a 19-year-old hiding both a 40-year-old wife and her pregnancy; later, Eric used the P1 Answering Machine to propose to Jamie, who accepted live. Mikey argued that Jennifer Aniston should own her criticism of Angelina Jolie, while the others said Aniston had answered honestly and wisely kept it restrained; Ted Allen later explained Iron Chef judging and led Sky and Eddie through a chaotic Chardonnay pairing. The tone turned darker with Pippet the pug dying after warning his owner about a fire, and the show ended with Mikey saying Christian faith helped him escape addiction and urging struggling listeners to seek help.
What happened, in order
Sean and the Panda Song
The crew used a panda song to revive the running joke that Sean had once been a panda-suited furry, leaving him visibly exasperated.
The Village Idiom
Ashley tried to define familiar idioms, correctly grasping the leopard's-spots saying but turning an axe to grind into a need for stronger help and calling a dispute a pickle to pick.
Weekend Worry Wart
Callers shared weekend bombshells, including a man about to tell his traditional Muslim mother that his white girlfriend was pregnant and a 19-year-old hiding both his 40-year-old wife and her pregnancy from his parents.
Jamie Says Yes
Eric proposed to Jamie through a rhyming P1 Answering Machine message, and she called in crying to say she had kissed him and accepted.
Rob Meets the Gamers
Boston Rob interviewed GameStop customers about Gears of War 2 and Wrath of the Lich King, exposing his dated Nintendo knowledge through confused questions and long awkward pauses.
The Aniston Argument
Mikey argued that Jennifer Aniston should plainly own her criticism of Angelina Jolie, while Sky and the others said Aniston had answered honestly and smartly kept the response restrained.
Pippet the Hero Pug
Sky told how Pippet alerted his showering owner to an apartment fire but died after the door locked behind her as she escaped.
Ted Allen Dishes
Ted Allen explained that Iron Chef America enforces a real 60-minute cook, revealed that Mario Batali angrily checks scorecards after losses, and recalled Batali serving carbonara from a hollow Parmesan wheel.
Breakfast Wine Test
Ted Allen led Sky and Eddie through a Chardonnay-and-chicken pairing, only for lemon-loving Sky to dispute the intended lesson as the studio kept demanding larger pours.
$275,000 Dirty Dance
A North Carolina town paid a woman $275,000 after banning her from a community center for allegedly obscene dancing and an overly short skirt.
Mikey's Recovery Testimony
Mikey said Christian faith transformed him from someone trapped in alcohol and drug addiction into a husband, father, and broadcaster who could enjoy life sober.

was in Chicago yesterday fueling the rumors that she's Obama's choice for Secretary of State. That just scared me. Thursday Night Football last night saw Brett Favre lead the Jets to an upset victory over New England 34-31 in overtime. Let's hear from that gorgeous guy himself. Oh, wow. It ranks right up there near the top. Being in the moment, obviously, it's easy to say that it may be at the top. It goes without saying how difficult it is to come here and win. Not to mention the fact that the way we started versus the way the regular, the end of the, you know, the regulation. What's going on there? The momentum. They had every reason to win it. We could have easily folded. So there was a lot of things in this game that happened. And based on the history, I'm sure most people would have been betting against us. It's a emotional win, man. Yeah. Shut up, Brett. What do you mean, shut up, Brett?
You know what? They went right into your house and they won. Who are you, Mr. J? Get out of here. Thank you very much. How dare you. How dare you, sir? They beat Rob's Patriots. Yeah, they did. Why don't you cry about the win? Oh, he's so emotional. They would have counted us out. Get out of here. He's rehabbing right now. Look at B-Rob in here showing his support for his team by wearing his Patriot gear. Unreal. That great Ben Coates jersey he's got from 1985. Hey, it's from the early 90s and this was the first jersey my dad gave him. First Patriots jersey I ever got. Congratulations. It's funny, it still fits you. It does. Perfectly. I think Ben Coates is in real estate now.
Been retired for 45 years. I don't know how he's doing. You blew it! Welcome back. Welcome back, everybody. Wow, what a way to start. That's right. Good to be back. It's our, yeah. Come on in. Shake and a smile. Yeah, that's how we unlock the door and let the customers in here at the Mikey Show. Ladies and gentlemen, come on in. Take a seat. It's the Mikey Show. It's a little uncomfortable in here. That's right. This guy's a hothead. This Boston Robbie's a hothead. This guy's definitely a hothead. Not me. That guy can't even have a man crush around here anymore. I know it. I know it. Not on the wrong guy. Whatever. Eddie, Brett Favre's been killing me in fantasy football because of the interceptions. He throws the interceptions, right? Yeah. Meanwhile, you know, it's a bad team. But guess what bad team has a player that's been performing real well?
The Chiefs and that Tyler Thigpen. Oh, wow. Performing. Don't expect that to happen every week. It could happen this week. He's playing New Orleans. Yeah, well. And so I'm starting him. Oh, you are? Starting him over Brett Favre. How did Brett Favre do for you? 16 points. That's not bad. Not bad at all. I didn't start him, though. I didn't start Brett. And I'm hoping. And I thought, well, Brett, you've been throwing interceptions. Why didn't you throw any this time? Well, his coach had a little summit. They did? Yeah. And Mangini said, listen, Brett, you're Brett Favre. You can do what you want, but please stop doing that whole throwing to the other team thing. And Brett said, all right, I'll do that for you. Do you think it's weird that he also refers to himself as the great Mangini and wears like a magician outfit? That's a little creepy. The inventor of the diaper genie. That's right. He's got a lot going on. Yes, he did. He actually did. Smart man. Welcome to the show. My name is Mikey and I am 38 years old. Not good at math. Better at English. Hi. Hi. I said hi. Can you hear me? I said hello. I think we all... I said hi. Hello. Yeah. Eddie's our producer and our sports guy. He's 35 years of age. And he lives in the community of...
La Mesa. And what does that mean in Spanish? Do we know what La Mesa? Jewel of the Hills, Mike. It's the Jewel of the Hills, ladies and gentlemen. It is. It really is. It really is the Jewel of the Hills. Doesn't it mean the table? Yeah. I think it does. No, it's the Jewel of the Hills. No, that's its nickname. I don't know that La Mesa means Jewel of the Hills, but it is known as the Jewel of the Hills. That sounds gorgeous. I think La Mesa means tabletop. It does. I think L. Doesn't alcohol mean crystal meth? I've heard that. I don't know if that's it. I don't know. I don't know. I don't speak Spanish. I know, I know. Sky is our news girl. And she is 31 years of age, rocking the white headband. She looks really good in headbands. You're a fan. I am. It looks nice, you know. It does. And Sean. Sean's wearing a headband, too. Gorgeous. Keep back his hair. And he is 38 years of age. I like to keep the hair out of my face, you know? That's right. Kind of accentuate the positives. Yeah. And he wears his makeup in such a way. Yeah. It's gorgeous. That it kind of... Goth-like? Mm-hmm. I'd say more emo, but, you know. He wears those blue blocker sunglasses and puts on ruby red lipstick. Gorgeous.
I hope you like it. Instead of foundation, olive oil. That's right. It's beautiful. Blue food coloring. That's right. Ashley is our assistant producer, and she's wearing green today. Go green! That's her mom. And, you know, her mom has an interesting... Ashley has an interesting singing voice. Mom kind of has an interesting speaking voice. Ashley has an interesting laugh and mom has an interesting laugh. You know what I'm saying? I said interesting. That's all. Why are you so funny? Boston Rob. It really is from Boston. You know, he really is. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not a facade. That's right. Are you sure you're just not referring to the Cape Cod beanie?
that he's wearing. Wait a second. He says Cape Cod. What's wrong with that? Nothing. Just in case the throat tattoo and the jersey were not enough to let you know what was going on there. What region of the country he's from. It gets chilly and well, Fleet, when you're going down there for some oysters, all right? Is that right? Yeah, it does. And that's all they sell is Cape Cod stuff. I don't know. The Kennedy family understood it, and that's about it. That's about it. You know what I mean? All right. And what does Rob do? He does everything, man. He does all kinds of stuff for the show. He does songs, and he does, you know, he does man on the street. Yeah, I go out and communicate with people. That's right. It's weird. That's like fun. No. That's right. And then there is the artist formerly known as Sir Roosevelt Zethian Oates III, Jr., Esquire, MD, DDS, President, and CEO. As seen on TV. Zethian. That was his announcer professional voice. My bad. That's right. Well said. Your corporate voice. Hello, Karen. And you guys.
You guys think I'm joking about the corporate thing. I got an email the other day saying corporate handed down some stuff and it included me. Yeah? And you're included, man. Well, then you're important. You're part of the corporate. And it says corporate on there. Well, hello. And when he gets it, he's all stoked because he's like, I'm part of the corporate machine. Yeah. Mark Mays sent me an email. That's right. Welcome to the machine. Yeah. He owns Clear Channel, right? What's up, Mark? Hey, Mac. I'm like his right-hand man. Yeah. Okay. I'm glad you got to me on this, Mac. Reply. Yes. Thank you for your time, Mac. Yeah, I call you Mac. I was thinking we should brunch this weekend. Can we have a sit down? Yes. I would like to discuss projected earnings for third quarter, specifically next year. I believe our fall campaign, company-wide, should include the following bullet point. And we got a couple of listeners in the studio. We have Sean.
Stop it. That's rude. They're not even here. What his problem is. I don't like it when they take over, but go ahead. They don't take over. You know how they do it. Whatever. We have P1 Jackie. And Jackie lost at P1 Trivia, but she got a shot with one extra question. That's right. And she's a full-time mom. Been married five years. She's got two kids. Two and a half. A girl that's two and a half and a one-year-old boy. And then we have P1 Terry, who actually won P1 Trivia. He is 36 years of age. Semper Fi. He is Semper Fi. Yeah, that's right. I met Terry yesterday. That's right. You met him? Yeah, he came out to the paintball. A little late, but he was there. Hey, you got there. Hey, awesome. You guys had surgery. Give him a break. Yeah, it says here the guy's on convalescent leave. Yeah.
Does that mean you got a walker? What is a convalescent? I thought a convalescent home was for seniors. What is convalescent? What does that mean? He has to wear a diaper. Yeah. What is that, dude? What is that convalescent? Just time that they give you that doesn't count against your annual leave so that you can recover from things such as surgery. There you go. Such as. Godspeed, my friend. Godspeed. Such as. Such as. 570-1053. Call us. We want to hear from you. 570-1053 is the number. And our text is 35253. And so you can call us about whatever you want. Next week is going to be, so a week from today will be our last day before vacation. And then we're going to take a few days for Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving's the following week. And so, yeah, can you guys believe how close Thanksgiving is? Let's not talk about it. Hey, jerk. That's right. Let's not. What kind of Christmas spirit is that? I'm just saying. That is not Christmas spirit. Some people get stressed out. No way, man. That's the opposite, man. Got my Christmas shopping done early. It's a day closer to Old Holy Night. Yeah, dude. How dare you. Thank you. How dare you. Love it. P1 Shane's on the line. Good morning. What's up, dude? I got a quest fantasy football question for you. Hit it. Roethlisberger or Chad Pennington?
Why are you laughing? That is a far out question. I just wouldn't want to be in that guy's situation. So neither of those are good choices. Well, you know, normally Ben Roethlisberger is a great choice. But he's got a banged up shoulder taking on the Chargers this weekend. I'm sure you don't want to root for a guy taking on the Chargers this weekend. And Chad Pennington has T-Rex arms. He cannot throw the football longer than five yards. He can't do it. Third as far as Mike can. Wait a second. How did he make it to the NFL? That is a fact right there. I was able to throw a foam football 25 feet. On your third try. How dare you. If it were me, I would start Roethlisberger, man. Okay, second question. Ronnie Brown or Michael Turner? Oh, man, you got to start Michael Turner. Michael Turner is kicking booty, man. That's what I think. Thanks, guys. Go with your gut. There you go, brother. Hey, by the way, we got a P1 answering machine going on for you. 858-715-1923 if you ever want to leave us messages. Mikey, what's up, bro? 530, just woke up. First thing in my head, stupid panda song, man. Can't get it out. Hey, man.
Quench your thirst? Yeah. This is ridiculous. Listening. You don't know that. I bet he is. No. And that's enough. For those of you listening that are wondering, well, why is that guy upset that they're playing? Because it's a joke against me. You're making fun of me. A joke? A joke against me. Yeah. How is it? How's that? Explain it, John. I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of explaining it. That's weird. You know what you're doing. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm playing a song that I just think is a fun song to listen to. Is that him singing it? Is that it? Got you. Are you on drums? If that's why we're listening to it, because you like it, then fine. And if we could just leave it at that? I don't get it, Mike. Sean's upset. No, we can leave it at that. We can leave it at that. What is going on? It's a song that you enjoy. Good. I think the audience needs to know why you're freaking out.
Well, I thought I figured it out, but then I was like, no, that can't be it. What? Well, what I thought it was is, well, Sean used to be a furry, you know? Oh, what is that? I've never heard of that. That's weird. What is that? Those pervert ravers that, you know, that do the... That do what? They dress like mascots and they go make sex. No, that's not what we do. I saw a whole disgusting report about them on 2020. You know what? Well, so then why would the panda song, like, what does the panda song have to do with that? Oh, that was the mascot he dressed as. A panda? One of the two. Is he Chinese? One of the two. What? The guy likes pandas. What do you want? Guys, Sean. What do you want? Well, they are cute. That's disgusting. They are cute. I see the connection now. Panda song and then, you know what I'm saying? It makes sense, Mike. I'm glad you explained it. Thank you. I think it would excite him. I didn't think he would like it. That's true. That he'd start dancing and get into it and all that kind of stuff. I'm confused. Well, he's made it clear that he, man, now I understand. Wow. Who knew? That's right. I didn't.
Sean has the fingers on the bridge of his nose right now. He's squeezing. Sinus infection? It could be. Too much bamboo. That's a speculation, but that's all I'm saying is that he had too much bamboo. It could be a speculation. That's one of the side effects. Oh, why? Do we believe that Hillary Clinton will become the Secretary of State? Impossible. I hope so. Yeah, that'd be cool. No, you don't like Hillary Clinton. I do. No, you don't. No, you don't. We both do. No, well, you do. This one over here, come on. I do. No. Why am I... You didn't support her ever, and now all of a sudden you are? Just because she's not your number one choice doesn't mean... She's not even your second choice. It doesn't mean you don't like her. What's not to like about Hillrod? What's not to like about Hillrod? Yeah, man. She's Hillrod. Stop it. That's a really good point. I've never, like, disliked her. The only thing I held against her was the fact that she didn't leave Bill when he cheated on her. What do you like about? It's not easy. It's not easy. Pantsuits. Oh, thank you. Pantsuits. They're pretty sweet. Yeah. Masculine haircuts. Masculine. Masculine. Very sturdy. You can call me Hillary. Very sturdy. Yes. I heard that she's the person that took P1 Harold's title at arm wrestling. Yes, he's a professional at arm wrestling. She's the one that took it. No doubt about it. I am ready to rumble. You can tell by your hair. Easy, bro. Look, she's a very smart woman. That's right. She has a very smart haircut. True.
I think she looks great. I do, too. I think that haircut... Do you mean great by the way we were using the word great yesterday morning? Yes. Great by weird? Is that what you mean? Yeah. Great by horrible. Yeah. I mean, whatever. However you interpret the word. Yeah, she definitely looks like every female GM that I've never had. Never had a female GM, but if I had had a female GM, she would look like Hillary Clinton. I take that back. We have had a female GM. She doesn't look like that. She was gorgeous. Yeah, she doesn't look like that. She looks like every male GM we've had. That's true. She looks just like handsome Joe Cunningham. Yeah. Oh, he was very handsome. If Hillary had a goatee, she would be Joe Cunningham. For real. Yeah. Except his wasn't that masculine. Right. It wasn't as masculine. She could get it much fuller. Yes. I thought it was really cool that, you know, a couple of times on the...
Out on the campaign trail, she would wear Levi's and reach into her back pocket and pull out a comb. Just like Fonzie. Mike, I never saw that. Just like Fonzie. She would be right about to comb it, and then she'd take one last look at it and be like, perfect. I don't need to comb it. Correctamundo. I don't need to comb it. It's perfect. Aye. Aye. Eddie, is Jake Peavy still a Padre? Yeah. He is? Yeah. We still have one of the best pitchers in the business. For good? No. They're having a hard time making a deal with the Braves. The Cubs are pretty much out of it. So now General Manager Kevin Towers is saying, oh, well, maybe we'll look in the American League and talk to... The Angels and the Yankees. Oh, Rob. Oh, shoot. I can cope with that. The Yankees don't need that, Eddie. Well, they do need pitching. They need a lot of pitching. He's kind of a hothead. He's a hothead. Everything you say comes unglued. Right? It's weird. I'm working on it, Sean. Eddie, you know what I think is funny?
is how you're experiencing a Boston Red Sox fan getting upset about something. That's unusual. It's a little tough to take. It's a little tough to take here in this town. The fact that they are three-time world champions. The Red Sox? Sounds good. No, we're seven-time world champions. Well, I meant in the past. Recently. Sorry. Sorry. Whatever. Who cares? You won world championships, bottom line. Yeah, yeah. And, you know, you were in the ALCS. Oh, yeah, that was fun until 10. Last year. And, you know, we lost 99 games. Hey, listen, hold on, hold on. Because you guys are coming at me like. We lost 99 games. Yeah. Wow. And we'll lose more next year. I mean. We will lose. It's cool. I've come to terms with it. I bet he's right. Stop saying it's cool. I bet he's right. It's not cool. Hey, guys, I'm going to make a prediction that USA Today decides to stop putting their record in the USA Today. They're like, are they really a team? Should we still put them in there? They should. They should get rid of them. Okay. Well, what's the point? Well, that's not cool. Terrible, terrible team. What are you going to do about it? I'm not going to do anything. Exactly. Nobody's going to do anything about it. I just want to put up a billboard that says why. That's what it is. It says why with a question mark. Padres.
Why? Yeah, Padres. Why? Why is it like this? Let's go get some people. Does it start today, the free agency thing? Start today? We're going to be real active, right? We won't sign one person. But you guys got to have enough money to get a couple of good guys, right? No, we want payroll to go down, not up. But the new state, like, I would love to see a good... squad out on that field. Me too. I want to go and watch some baseball games out here. That's interesting. Yes. Now, when they basically sell Peavey, I'm just curious, can Kevin Towers just pocket that money? What does he do with it? First of all, they're not selling Peavey. Basically, it's a fire sale. It is a fire sale, but it's not for money. It's for players. We're improving our club. I thought they were getting money from them. No, you thought wrong. They're going to get players? Maybe some coupons. Meaning they're going to get minor league players, right? Yes. Single A guys. No. Bring them up to the ranks. Real high profile minor league guys. Yep. And they also get coupons and an 84 BW bus. Yes. But they had it like. Part of the deal. They had it washed. Yeah. So it's a win-win. You know, your team spent $125 million on Barry Zito. We'll take a guess. Worst move ever. Worst move ever. I'm just saying.
It's a win-win for us, you know? Because at first we were like, what? And they were like, oh, they washed it. Cool, Eddie. Oh, I hate it. I'm fine with it. I'm fine with it. I think we should get rid of Adrian Gonzalez, too. Okay. Eddie, stop it. Stop it. Why keep him? We know what you're doing. We know what you're doing. You get it. Get rid of Adrian. We're stupid. Get rid of Chris Young. Let's just start from scratch. Yeah. Clean slate. Yeah. You're pretty close. Yeah, I mean, how much further do we have to go to be at a complete clean slate? You know what I mean? Yeah. Oh, it's terrible. It's terrible. 570-1053 is our phone number, so give us a call. 60 Minutes is going to have their first post-election interview with Obama airing on Sunday night. Yeah, this is the first interview that Obama has done since, you know, he was elected our president. So they're taking it. Thanks, Jake. I have some sample questions, by the way, that they're going to be asking him. Oh, really? Yeah, the first one is, why are you so great? That's the first thing they want to ask him. That's a good one. And then they're going to ask him, man, how come everybody isn't a Democrat? That's their second question.
Then they're going to ask him, here's another sample question from 60 Minutes, part of the Left Media. They will also ask him, why can't everyone just be like you? Set your TiVos. Those are all good. They're recording it today and it will air Sunday night, 60 Minutes. Sky and I are going to watch it together. We're going to agree on the whole thing. We're going to agree on every single... Thanks. No. A couple of Mavericks. That's right. What's up with the fires? There's more fires. Like, isn't there a fire going on in Santa Barbara? Dude, yeah. So, you know, Santa Ana's moving in. They said, oh, well, you know, the humidity's going to be low, but the winds aren't going to be that high. And since we got some rain, we should be okay. But they were saying in the news a couple days ago, you know, to the north of us didn't get that same rain that we got. So they said, you know, it could be bad for them. Well, last night a fire broke out in Santa Barbara County. Let's see, right now it's threatening a thousand homes.
in this upscale development called Montecito. Like, Oprah owns a home there. Rob Lowe owns a home there. Not Rob Lowe. I know, I know. It's very sad. So far, 100 homes have already been destroyed. Colms from Hannity and Colms owns a home there. Just Colms. Herb. Herb owns a home there from Peaches and Herb. Wow. Yeah, they're forecasting winds in the area between 50 to 70 miles per hour. Super Dave Osborne. He owns a home there? Yeah. Well, he rents. Well, he rents from Scott Baio. That's true. It's really bad. Melissa Gilbert. She's in there? She's a homeowner. Oh, man. She's from Little House in the Prairie, right? Yeah, Little House in the Prairie. Well said. That's one of my favorites. She's really worried because Merlin Olsen was coming over for dinner this weekend. Appetite. Huge. But the smoke may cancel her plans. So we wish them the best. Who knows? We'll probably send firefighters up there if they're not already there by now. But it's a doozy. Steve Finley put his Del Mar house on the market. What are we talking, Sky? Probably two, three million bucks. I doubt it. I've seen it. It's got to be four and a half million dollars.
Well, it's in Del Mar. It's 2,500 square feet. Six bedrooms. Faces the ocean. 2,500 square feet? Uh-huh. 2,500 square feet. Not a huge home. There's not a zero missing from that? There's 2,500 square feet. Yeah. That's it? That's what it says here. But, you know, in Del Mar facing the ocean, that's still really nice. Six bedrooms built in the late 60s. What do we think? What's our guess? It's on the ocean. It says it's facing the ocean. Facing the ocean. So I got to believe it's like, you know, you walk out onto your patio and there's the ocean right there. I got to believe, you know, I'm not saying that there's sand right there, but you're, there's the ocean. A little heads up. Yeah. I watched some show like Celebrity Homes and it was featured in it. His wife like is a designer and made their kitchen like this crazy kitchen. Their house is like. Like it was in magazines and stuff. Really? Because of what she did to it. Well, they bought, just to give you a frame of mind, they bought the home in 95 for one and a half million dollars, but completely gutted it, totally remodeled it. So what do we think they are asking for that home today? Eight mil. I'm going to say 15 mil. Yeah, I was going to say 15 too. Anybody else got any guesses? I'll say 10. Oh, wow. Yeah, I'm going with Sean, 10. I was thinking seven. All right. Eddie's the closest.
They are asking for $21.5 million. So they bought it for a million? One and a half million back in 1995. Gutted it, remodeled it. $21.5 million. You can't see me, but my jaw was dropped open. My mouth was just gaping open. Awesome. Yeah, so I guess they kind of are into this because they say about seven years ago, they bought over seven acres in Rancho Santa Fe for just under $2 million and then built a 12,000 square foot estate. and then sold it for $12.5 million. So they got this real estate game down pretty good even, you know, in these tough times. I guess his name attached to the property doesn't hurt it at all. Not at all. Some text messages that we're getting. Hey, Eddie, it's P1Mac. I heard a rumor. I don't know if this is true. Is it true the Padres will be playing high school teams next season? No, we want to win. That's right. Let's see.
Mikey, I heard that the guys that play the Panda song are opening for the Blue Donkeys this weekend at House of Blues. Is that true? Here is our text number, 35253. Our phone number is 570-1053. And we have a brand new website. MikeyShow.com is brand new with all new stuff. Mikey Minute on there every day. And it's awesome. It's awesome. Just want to let people know. that we have an answering machine set up for you so you can call in and say whatever you want. 858-715-1923. And we have something extraordinarily special coming up at 745 from that answering machine. Also on the show today, a little weekend worry wart so people can call in and tell us what they're all freaked out about for this weekend. We sent Rob back out on the street. Oh, no. Going to do Ask the Oracle, the village idiom for Hellboy 2 DVDs.
And Ted Allen from Food Network is going to be in the studio this morning. An unbelievable YouTube clip of the day. It's unbelievable. Unbelievable. And it's unbelievable. Dane Cook in the stand-up spotlight. To stand-up spotlight. 105.3. I'm standing next to this guy. I don't know this man. I've never met him before in my life or in a past life. I can sense this. Standing next to this man. Never met him before. He turns towards me and he sneezes like this. He goes, he actually, he actually did like the robot from 85. He turns towards me and he sneezed and there was no blockage. There was no hand or the mouth. There was no burying the arm. There's no, the thing where you try to make somebody run away like you're about to turn into a werewolf. Hey, things are happening to me. No, he just cocked. Two things happened. First of all, it just, it scared the ever living out of me. Okay.
I jumped because it was very audible, very loud. But besides that, just the way the light was hitting this guy's face, debris came out. A lot of stuff. Almost like when you use Windex and you put it on mist mode. You know mist mode? As opposed to, what is that other mode? Laser mode? Does anybody even use that? Is that in case you want to mount a sniper scope on your Windex and I got to stay in about eight clicks? I am taking the shot. Negative. I missed. I missed the target. I need one more. Got it. Let's go home, boys. Thor's hammer on Dr. Doomsday King infused face paint. Total liquidation. After 17 years, San Diego Dodge on National City's mile of cars closes our doors forever. Hey, I just want to let you know about the auto insurance specialist. You know, yesterday, last night, I was having a conversation with my wife about... what's going on right now with the economy. And I told her, I said, I think that these are obviously historical times and what's happening with us, historic times. And I said, I know they're going to have a name for this eventually. It's going to be the, I don't know, the recession of 08 or something. They're going to come up with a name for it. And when you are in a period of time where you cannot pay your bills. More than ever before, I am really stoked about being in partnership with AIS. Because I am very different from a lot of people that you hear talk about their endorsement companies. I truly believe in the companies that I endorse. And AIS is one of them because they really do save you money. And right now, it means something. And I'm really genuinely glad that my wife and I have AIS insurance.
Because if we didn't, we would be paying what we used to pay. When I had farmers, I paid $1,600 a year more than I pay now. Rob called AIS about two or three weeks ago and he saved $1,400 a year. And you can too. And I have a list of a ton of different people on this sheet that are listeners that have called into the show to tell us that they've saved a lot of money. And right now that means the world to a lot of people. Do this for yourself so that you can be paying less for your auto insurance. 1-800. This is like a tip. 1-800-777-4247. 1-800-777-4AIS. See you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. For the most part, we're getting by with a Friday morning light commute. You will find the usual slowing go out of Escondido. That's really no surprise. South 15, a little tight from the 78 down to Villarancho Parkway. There is an accident in the South Bay. It's Southbound 5 at Civic Center Drive. They're shutting down that Civic Center Drive off ramp as well. A traffic board has been issued for that one. A little bit of a backup around that, but that's on the opposite side of our usual commute. So hopefully it won't affect your ride this morning. Everything else at the speed looking pretty nice. The border waits up to an hour and a half at San Isidro.
I'm Rick Lawrence on Rockwood053. P1 Sanjaya. What's going on, Mikey? What's going on, dude? You went to sleep train? I went out to sleep train and bought myself a mattress, finally. When did you do it? I went this Sunday, actually. Cool. What did you get? Yeah, I got a beauty rest, a comfort classic. Did they deliver it Sunday, Monday, or when? Sunday when I told them to because I was moving that day. Really? It worked out perfect. That's pretty awesome. And did they take your, well, wait a minute. If you were moving, did they have to take your set or did you get rid of it yourself? No, I got rid of it myself. So they bring the new one in. Did they set it up for you? They set it up for me within like five minutes. And how did it feel that first night? Just like being in heaven. That's awesome, man. That's awesome, dude. That's awesome. Yeah, I tell people about Sleep Den. Did they give you a good price? Oh, yeah, dude. I went in there after the promotion about getting everything for free. And the dude's still doing everything for free. And after I told him that Mikey sent me personally, he knocked off $700. That's awesome. Yeah. All right, brother. Thank you, Sanjaya. All right, dude. Talk to you later, man.
Sleep change your ticket to a better night's sleep. The Mikey Show continues with Mikey. When I was eight years old, I kissed our dog on the mouth. Eddie. Take a look at this. Adonis body. Cliff. Sean. I love it when black people make fun of white people. Boston Rob. I'm not a chick. Come on, lady. And Ashley. I am the Nikki Handwasher. The Mikey Show's on. Yay! Pac-1053. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's Sasha Fierce. It's... Welcome back. It is 643. The always humble Kanye West said that history will look at him as the voice of this generation. Wow. Cleveland's Cliff Lee wins the AL Cy Young Award. He finished 22-3 with a .254 ERA. We will look at him as the voice of this generation? Yeah. And then he goes on to say, he says, the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice. Really? He says...
You're going to love this. He says, it's me settling into the position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it, and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan. Okay. All right. Fair enough. Yeah. Yes. We were all thinking it, I mean. And. Really. He just said it. Congrats. Congrats. Welcome back to the show. We're going to be doing Ask the Oracle today, a little bit later on. So if you have questions for our sports oracle a little bit later on, we will be doing that. So make sure you're listening. Big weekend. Yes, it is. Yes, it is. Now, I thought we might have a little fun with something we call the Villegidium. The way that the village idiom works is the village idiom is a...
It's a little game that we play where you call us and we ask, we give Ashley a little idiom. We ask her to describe, hey, what does that mean, Ash? And then you listen to her explanation and tell us. Is that right? And you try not to laugh. That's right. I mean, try. Try. Try. Try. Try. Try. Try. Try again. That's right. I'll give you an example. You guys know that old phrase. That's right. I'll give you an example of an idiom. An idiom is, as the crow flies. What does that mean? Very basic. Ashley felt, when she described what it was, she said somebody that is as the crow flies, because she identified as the crow flies as a person. That's a person. And it's like, that person is like, they're very basic. Steadfast. They're steadfast? I've always said steadfast. You've always maintained steadfast. Steadfast and... It sounds good. Yeah. She thinks that's Oprah's boyfriend. Yeah. Wow, Skye. I'm sorry. It was just too unfair. I love you to death. I love you to death. I was just like on a T-ball. I'm sorry.
Slow pitch softball. Wow, Skye. That was a great one. I'm glad you said that. Thank you for saying that. That's right. Hey, Skye, doesn't it feel good? Let's not be like that. Okay, no. Okay, let's call it tricks. Come to our side. As the crow flies means that you are basic, but you have a good work ethic. And so, yeah, sometimes Ashley is not that familiar with idioms. So that's why she's the village idiom. P1 Ben, are you there? I'm right here. Oh, well, hello. Good morning. I'm nervous. Ben, how are you? Hello. How are you doing today? I'm all right. Just waking up, you know. There you go. There you go. You working today? Yep, on my way there. What are you doing? I drive a truck. All right. All right, let's do this, man. So you're going to listen to Ashley. And what's the prize today? What do we got? Oh, yeah, that was my part. And you're on. And we have Hellboy 2 DVDs. There it is, bro. Hellboy. All right. Here is your idiom, Ashley. And after I give it to her and she gives a response, Ben, you just have to tell us if she's right. You got it? I got it. All right. Ashley, what does it mean a leopard can't change his spots? It means a leopard can't change his spots means that you can get plastic surgery, but you're still going to be the same person. And even if you get like expensive clothes or bling or whatever, you're still going to be.
The crappy person you are inside. So it's like no matter what you do, you're still going to have those really good spots. I think that's right. I think that's correct. I mean, basically it is that you can't change who you are. I'm so stupid. You are becoming your mom. I'm supposed to ask her. I know. I really am. Do you see why my mom is so weird? Because I am. That was hilarious. Well, you see why I'm weird because my mom is. Okay, good. Yeah, yeah. You win. You win, Ben, because I'm weird. That just happened before our very eyes. P1 Brent. Yeah. How are you? Great. What are you up to? Oh, just sitting at home today. I got the day off. Oh, sweet. Nice. All right, dude, are you ready? Yes.
All right, we're going to ask Ashley what this idiom is, and then I'm going to try to contain myself from saying whether or not it's true or not. Mike gets really excited. I really do. I love the game. Can I guess now? No, you cannot. No, you cannot. You must, you know, as a matter of formality, you must wait. Wait, what's his name? Okay, here we go, Ash. Ash, your idiom is an axe to grind. Uh-oh. She looked kind of irritated for a second. It was almost like she was irritated. No, she's squinting. That's not good. An axe to grind. An axe to grind. Squint. Squint, squint, squint. An axe to grind. That you really want to grind something. Okay. Easy. So you use an axe. How does that work? Is it like Sky in Vegas? And the axe is like black guys?
An axe to grind is when it's like, oh, I'm such a hard, I'm grinding away, I'm working really hard, so I'm going to need more help. I need more stronger help. So in other words, an axe to grind means that you're working hard and you need to work harder, but in order to do it, You need, like... More help. More help. You need more help. You're like, oh, I need my axe to grind. That's right. And then in walks, like, somebody that can help in that situation. And you're like... Strong men. What's up? Got my axe. There's my axe. There's my axe. Well, well, well. P1 Brent, is that correct? I'm gonna disagree. What? That would be correct to disagree. She's got to be close though, right? No, she is not. No, she is not. To have an axe to grind means that you have a dispute with somebody. Let me give you an example. That makes so much more sense. Now she's getting angry. She's really clever. She's irritated. She's irritated. Like, in other words, Ash, you know, if I come in there and I'm like, hey.
I have a pickle to pick with you. Yeah, you got a pickle to pick with you, lady. Well said. Keep using that. That was very good. It's actually right. I go in there and I say, hey, lady, I heard that you told our boss that I was wearing women's clothes. I got an axe to grind with. Yeah, I got a pickle to pick. That actually happened. That's right. Actually, both work and that's... For sure. Brett, you're a winner. Hang on the line, will you? The village idiot. No, I'm not saying that. You're not. Don't talk about yourself like that, all right? You're my friend. No, I wasn't saying that. Oh, Skye. Skye, you are brutal. Way to go, Skye. I swear. She's got a pickle to pick with you, Skye. Yeah, somebody's got a pickle to pick. Aren't you guys supposed to have a truce? No, I swear. I thought she said that. It's like Sky walked in here with a jar of Vlasics. Right. Now they're everywhere. I got an axe to grind with you. There you go. Yeah, you got it. She's clearly not. Yeah, you know, agree with her. And that makes it right. Yeah, why would you? Awful. Yeah. Awful. P1.
P1 Diamond Grader. Good morning, Mikey. Good morning. How are you? What are you doing? Grading diamonds. That's awesome. Awesome. All right. That's what he does for a living. Can I have one? Yeah, right? That's right. Yeah, one of those dirty ones. All right, Ash, you ready? Love diamonds. Hey. Ash, your idiom is get down to brass tacks. Yeah. Blink. Squint anger. Squint anger. Anger's hurt, sadness, and fear. Down. Index finger to the bridge of the nose. Get down... Is he bad still? Get down with the brass cow? Yes, that's it. Get down to brass tacks. What did you get? Cow. Brown cow. I don't know. I keep thinking brown cow. I could do that. Go work with it. Work with it. Sound it out. Yeah. Spell it out first. Get down to brass tacks basically means...
If you really want to get down to the bottom of something, like you really want to get down to the bottom of it, then you get down to the brass tacks. That's right. Mike! Esther! Stop it, Esther, now! He almost hit the dump, by the way. I almost hit the dump button. Wow! One for three. Not bad. Did you take your stuff today? Shh! Mike really likes this game. You guys, it's Friday. Let him ease into the week. It's the end of the week. Listen, by about 8 o'clock Sunday night, he will be ready for last Monday. What do you think, Diamond Grader? Was that right? That's pretty close to me. You're right. You don't have to use that word with me, lady. And my cat, Logan, special. Hang on the line, Diamond Grater. Hang on the line. Hey, listen. I love them both. Some days are Diamond Graters and some days are Stone. That's all I'm trying to say. As the axe grinds. Everybody's fine.

And I heard the radio ad yesterday morning on the way to work. And I went to the Mission Gorge location. And Nick hooked it up. He found out that my number three spark plug wasn't firing. So I told him, hey, you know, I can fix that myself. But I told him, you know, even though he wasn't able to do the service on my truck, that he has my service. down the road for what my translation goes out. Because he did that for free, right? Yeah, he did it for free. See, I mean, how can you not respect that? You didn't end up having, and most people, they would have charged you just to tell you that. And then, you know what I mean? absolutely make the playoffs. I don't know how he can say that, but he does say that. Jerry, you can see that? Yes. Absolutely. And that's not optimism. I just see that we were going to have to be a team that were playing well and won a lot of ball games at the end of the year to be what we want to be anyway. And this is as good a time to start as next week. I certainly do feel we're going to be a team that plays well enough to be thinking about the playoffs. Yes, I do. First of all, yes only has one syllable. It's not yes. And second of all, wow, that's pretty wishful thinking. You know what I'm saying? He's really into it. He's really on one. Stan Lee's working on a new Showtime show. What? Is that right, Sky? Yeah, he's working with Showtime. What is it? It's a show called Hero, which is based on a Perry Moore novel. It's going to be an hour-long show that will follow an up-and-coming superhero struggle to hide more than just the usual secrets. Oh, I love it. That's right. Just thank God it's not another reality show.

This is a text message that we just received. Hey, Eddie, I heard the Padres are going to be using teas next year. Is that true? It's P1 Crazy Burr. I don't know if that's true. It might help. I wouldn't mind if they did. Mikey. I just laughed so hard I snorted, who's really the village idiom? That's P1 Grizel. Well, it's a fair question. It's a fair question. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, so Sky was talking about it. Two waterline breaks yesterday. And where were they, Sky? One was in the college area, El Cajon Boulevard at Rolando Boulevard, about 4.30 yesterday. A big old cast iron main water pipe broke, flooding the whole place. A six by eight foot cavity in the street. And, I mean, water just running down the street like it was a river. You know, good, clever. Time to conserve, everyone. Get out your raft. What does it have to be? Well, that was just my first thought. When you see all this water, I like, you know.
Take a bucket or something. It's unfortunate. We have oceans of water. We're fine. You're the worst. And then the other one happened about the same time. They both actually happened like right around 430, which was weird. And the other one was in La Jolla, Torrey Pines Road at La Jolla Shores Drive. That was a failed connector valve. And so, you know, people in the area without water having to divert traffic around rush hour time. Just a mess. Ashley's yesterday email, phenomenal. She went to the grocery store yesterday and she said that she was there for at least an hour, which made me go, man, what do you do for an hour? Ashley, what were you doing at the grocery store for at least an hour? I was just like really taking my time buying things. Like, for example, when I was buying my cakes, like, I bought this cake that had little, it was called, like, had little cherry sprinkles in it almost. It was like a white cake with little cherry sprinkles inside. So then I'm like, what frosting should I get? And I'm not kidding, Mike. I stared at the frostings for a solid five minutes going.
Do I want to get the vanilla? Should I go for the cream cheese? Ooh, what about this strawberry whipped mist one? Oh, no, that'd be strawberry with cherry, though. That wouldn't be good. I do that, too, and so does Skye's husband, and it drives Skye crazy. Yeah, well, my husband is the comparison shopper. Like, he has to compare the prices. Me too, me too. How many cents per ounce. Oh, yeah. Really? I always check the ounce. And I'm big time into, well, which one of these is better? Which one of these is going to taste better? This one's got this in it. This one's got this. And I'm like. study them for that reason oh yeah i mean you should see me in the boo shopping it's it's quite like i have to pull him along at points i just walk away from him and start gathering because he's in charge of pushing the cart so i just start gathering stuff in my arms until he catches up with me because
It'll take forever, man. Well, then she says that she went to checkout and she was so embarrassed by how many sweets that she was buying that she lied about having kids. How did that go? What did you say? What did you say? You want me to read it, Ash? Or do you want to say? You can read it. Whatever you want. I said I had two hungry boys at home with sweet tooth. Oh, man. You are electric, lady. So you're a terrible mother on top of me. Listen to this. I felt like I was being judged. She said she bought two boxes of brownie mix, two boxes of cake mix, three tubs of frosting, two bags of chocolate chips, a six-pack of bakery cinnamon rolls, and a slice of pumpkin, walnut, cranberry cake to boot. She said the checker laughed nervously. I don't think she cared all that much, but I still felt like she was judging me. And the guy behind me too, judging me. She said I came home and ate two cinnamon rolls because I can. And the pumpkin spice cake because I can. It's delicious.
And that was my dinner. That's disgusting. I seriously, I listen to it, and I think, like, I need the intervention music as I'm listening to what she's getting. No, you guys, it's not. Like, as she's standing in line, I think, you know, they show her in the, like, reading everything. You know what I mean? Like, reading every ingredient. I can control it. I can control it. Cut away. Yeah, exactly. It's the white words on the screen. Hi, my name's Ashley, and I like sweets. At the very end of it, you know, they're playing like the happy music, and she's like...

It's 716. You guys remember that dude who got pregnant, who gave birth to a baby girl over the summer, the pregnant man? Oh, yeah. Well, he's pregnant again. What? It was like a... Transgender. So it was a woman that became a man. He was a woman, became a man. Where did it go from here? Yankees acquired Nick Swisher from the White Sox for a Wilson betterment and a couple of minor leaguers. Okay, question.
I wonder if it messes up the baby. Does he have to take hormones? No, no. He stopped taking hormones to get pregnant. And then after having his first baby over the summer, a baby girl, did not go back on testosterone because they wanted a second baby. And it worked. And pregnant again? No. What was the first one? A girl. A girl? Yeah. And no stuff in there. No chemicals. They didn't have any testosterone taken the first time or the second time. Well, no, yeah, stopped the hormones, the male hormones to get pregnant. You got to figure that out and maybe mess the baby up. Yeah, because it kept all, obviously, all the internal organs, all the female internal organs, but, you know, has had the breasts removed and, you know, has facial hair from taking the hormones. prior to getting pregnant. Oh, yeah, man. If you see him, it's a dude. Like, you look and it's like, it looks like a guy, you know? Like, got the Don Johnson 5 o'clock going and the whole deal, you know what I'm saying? Well, you have to have that. If you're going to be a guy, you got to go Don Johnson 5 o'clock. You have to go Don Johnson 5 o'clock shadow. It's like your first request. Chuck Norris mustache. Hey, thanks to Pauly's Pizza Station for... Don't forget about it. That's right. Dude, check it out. So, Pauly's Pizza.
And by the way, Pauly is from the East Coast, man. Oh, dude, he does it correct. The best. Yeah, dude knows pizza. Oh, yeah. And he knows, like, going into his place is like walking into a place in New York City and getting a slice. I went down there like a month or two ago. I took my fiancee because she'd never been to New York. I was like, you got to try this pizza. You got to. I pretty much ruined her for any other pizza. She was talking about it last night. And he does it. He flips the dough in this window so you can kind of watch him. It's by a train stop. That's cool. And it reminds me of being back home, you know, because the train's going by. He's just flipping the pizza. He said he was going to teach me how, and I told him I'm holding you to it. Yeah. That's cool. That's very cool. Well, check it out. On his menu, on his actual menu, he's got a Mikey show. Oh, that's so cool. And hey, it's printed on his menu now and the whole deal. What is it? It's Italian sausage, pepperoni, jalapeno, and ricotta. Remember that one he brought in last time? That was good. It is my favorite. It is here today too. And he said that is like the most requested pizza. For real. Yeah, I love it. It's the best. It's got the best ingredients. Come on. See, now, Pauly, if you're listening, I think that you should do one for each of our...
personalities. You know what I'm saying? It's just the ham. It's not even pizza. It's just a ham pizza. No, it's just a piece of ham. It's not even a piece of ham. Yeah, you guys are hilarious. It's a slice of ham with a little sauce on it. No, what it is, is it's the tray that a pizza normally comes on. You know, like if you dine in, it's the tray, but it's just got a ham on it. I think the Mikey Show pizza is enough. I will not. Why don't you give him a high five? Eddie wants a high five. I say no, thank you. There it is.
So where is Paulie's? I've never actually been there. Is it downtown? It's right downtown. Interesting joke, Mike and Eddie, but where is Paulie's? Get the details, guys. Thank you. Focus, everyone. Enough ham jokes. So again, address there. Thank you. So again, changing the subject, yes. Quickly, Billy Bob, let's get this on. Yes, that's a wonderfully tickling joke about the ham. Where exactly are we located, Paulie? We're all totaling over here. Delightful humor. This is awesome. I just went to Paulie's Pizza Station dot com and on it I was talking about if you go there you see him flipping the dough in his window with the train going behind it. That's cool. Awesome. Let me give you the address. Do you mean the trolley? Yeah. I'm just checking. He keeps saying train, and I'm like, what train? He's like, if you look in the background, you see the E-225. That's cool. Isn't that awesome? That's a cool picture. He's got a great setup down there. Their address, Sky, send me the link. Well, okay. 1050 Park Boulevard here in San Diego. Oh, okay. Yeah, and they do deliver to downtown Golden Hill, Bankers Hill, and Hillcray. Hillcray.
And so get in on it. Yeah, Monday through Friday, they open at 9. Dude, check it out. Monday through Friday, Pauly's working 9 o'clock. They're open 9 a.m. Oh, that's the best. To 9 p.m. Wow. Can you imagine we're on the show and we were like, hey, let's get a pizza? Seriously. Which we do say stuff like that frequently. You know, on a pretty regular basis, I'll be like, man, potstickers would be great right now. Dude, that's a cool picture. That's really cool. All right. So welcome back to the show. Before we went to break, I said that we were going to do a little weekend worry wart. So call us right now. 570-1053. This is the weekend worry wart. Here's the idea. You call us at 570-1053 and you let us know. What do you got going on this weekend that's tripping you out? If you got something going on this weekend, you're either worried about it or you're kind of nervous about it or you're like, oh my goodness. Call us right now, 570-1053. We got P1 Jess on the line. What's up, Jess?
I'm excited but still stressed. My older brother and my husband are coming home from deployment on the same day. How long have they been gone? Wow. My older brother's been gone for a little over seven and a half months. And my husband's only been gone for three months, but he deploys again early next year for nine months. Wow. Okay, now I don't know how this works. When people come home from deployment, do they always come home on a ship or do they sometimes come home? It depends on the military. My older brother is in the Navy, and his ship comes in, but not for another two weeks. However, they got voluntarily, like you can choose to go home early the first week because the last week of their deployment, they have something called Tiger Cruise. They let the kids go on board with their parents or their uncles or cousins or whatever for the last week of deployment. Wow. Yeah, and so he's coming home on a plane, so we actually get to pick him up at the airport. And then my husband comes home on a plane as well, but he also is attached to the ship. Even though he's a Marine, he's deploying with a ship. Okay, now do they come home at different times? Yeah, my husband comes home in the morning and my brother comes home in the afternoon, so it's going to be a whole fun day. Awesome. That's pretty cool. And how old are you? I am 22. How old is your husband? He is 30.
Don't knock. It's okay. All right. No, there's going to... I have a feeling there is going to be some babies that are going to be born and that we're going to be hearing about pretty soon. You know, because, listen, when these guys come home from deployment, they'd like a little kiss. You know what I'm saying? They want to see... Let the romance begin. This is her first deployment. This is... Oh, really? So my sister-in-law expects the babies out of those two. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, lovers. All right. Well, let me put you on hold because I want to see how the weekend turns out. Hang on, all right? Next up, P1 heart attack. And call us if you've got something you're all tripped out about. Call us right now. This is P1 heart attack. What's up? Hey, Mikey. How you doing, man? Good. Well, it's my dad's 69th birthday, and he loves this beard called Schlitz. Yeah? I can't find it anywhere. Schlitz. Oh, yeah, dude. You don't remember that? Yeah. Do they still sell Schlitz? Yeah, they do. They do? You got to probably go to a pretty urban establishment. Yeah. And a little hole in the wall. But you can find it, dude. Yeah. Right next to the Mad Dog 2020s. There it is. Rob would know. There it is. Have you tried beverages and more?
Yeah, and they don't have it. A little too high class. Yeah, that's way too high class. You got to be dodging bullets to find that stuff. Yeah, for sure. For sure. Do you have time to go to Compton this weekend? See what I can do. Yeah, yeah. All right, brother. Thanks. Yeah, Eddie's dead. He drinks Stroh's, man. We found out. Somebody sent us an email that Stroh's stopped making Stroh's, I guess. Really? Like in 96 or something like that. So they don't make it anymore. Wow. Tell me about it. I used to drink that stuff all the time. Yeah. Not legally, but hey, listen. What are you going to do? My dad didn't care. You know? He didn't notice. That's right. He had so much, and plus he was drunk all the time. There you go. P1 ice cream, man. Hello? How are you? I'm doing all right. What do you got going on that you're tripping out about? I have to tell my strict Muslim mother that my white girlfriend is pregnant. Oh, dude. Dude. Wow. Oh, can you record it? That's what my brother's watching.
Dude. Oh, I bet that sounds like fun. I know. I don't know about that, Mom. YouTube. Are you doing this on Monday? I mean, are you doing this on Saturday or Sunday? I'm probably going to do it on Saturday because I have the day off. Wow, dude. It's going to take a day. How nervous are you going to be on the drive over to your mom's? Actually, she lives with us. After my dad passed away, she's been really attached to all of her sons. And I'm kind of the baby of the family, so it's going to be kind of bad. Well, how does she react to the girlfriend now? Well, she's very traditional. So she's like, I want you to be with an Arab girl. I'm like, not so much. Right. And does she like this girlfriend or she's not much of a fan? Let's just say she tolerates her. How long have the two of you been together? Off and on for about four years. Oh, it's an off and on thing.
Oh, wow. She moved away to take care of her mom for about a year. Oh, okay. I don't think it's going to go as bad as everyone thinks. You don't, Rob. You know, I honestly think that his mother will be more welcoming than he even expects. Maybe. So, do you think that she is going to, like, really encourage you guys to get married? Like, what's up with that? I think so, but... I told my girlfriend, I'm like, I don't want to get married. Oh, good. That's what a pregnant girlfriend wants to be. Absolutely. It's very comforting. It's very comforting. That's good. Hey, I got a question. Okay. Would your mom be okay if the white girlfriend converted? I think it would be better. But still not ideal. Not ideal. Well, my sister, she ran away to get married, and my parents flipped out. Yeah. worst thing I've ever seen. Yeah. Wow. So that's what I'm worried about. When I grew up, I'm going to marry a white woman. No, don't say that to her. She'll not like it. She lives with you? Yeah, I mean, we take care of her and then all the boys pay all the bills, all the rent and everything like that. Have you considered telling her that she's your live-in attorney? Well, call us on Monday, dude. We want to know how it turns out.
Absolutely. Good luck. All right, brother. That's going to be a jihad in there, bro. Oh, boy. Key one, Chris. Hey, guys. Good morning. Good morning, dude. I am getting married on Saturday. Oh, my gosh. Where are you getting married? We are getting married on our surfboards in Carlsbad. Oh, look at you guys. That is so cute. Is that how you met? Is that how you met? Actually, we met down at Pacific Beach, but all throughout we were dating, we surfed together, and then I proposed to her in the same exact spot on our surfboard. How do you get married on a surfboard? Do you stand on the surfboard on the sand, or what do you do? No, we're actually having a paddle-out ceremony. We'll all be out there. They're sitting out on the boards, straddling the boards. Awesome. They're not standing on them. Okay, question. That's cool. Yeah. Question. Question. Do you have, like, a photographer with, like, one of them waterproof cameras or something? I just picked him up last night from LAX. He came out from the North Shore of Oahu to come film the wedding. No. Film it or take pictures? He's going to do both. And then as a wedding gift, my buddy is having a helicopter fly over and take a picture from, like, a bird's eye view. Hey, dude, can you do us a favor, man?
Yes. Can you send us a couple pictures and maybe even a little bit of video? And if you do, we'll post it on our site. We'd be more than happy to. Me and the wife of you are both P1s. Yeah, because, yeah, you know, I'm picturing the pictures could actually be pretty cool. That, you know, that helicopter one's going to be awesome. Yeah, for sure, man. Oh, my gosh. So, you know, he actually gets to be out there in the pilot ceremony. Even my dad, who's never surfed before, is still getting on a surfboard and paddling out that morning. Right on, dude. Dude, look out for the black and whites, bro. That's all I'm going to say. That's all I'm going to say. I don't think killer whales are going to be a problem. That's all I'm going to say. Killer whales, it's in the name, man. Dude, they're around. They're around. That's all I'm going to say. Hey, listen. Eddie didn't say that this guy is going to get it from the black and whites. He just said... Keep your eyes open. And watch out because they sneak in and they act like they're part of the wedding party. They're like, oh, I'm not sure. They're all dressed up. They have tuxedos, it looks like. Listen, whether or not the attack is completely up to you to make the... Eddie just took his headphones off. And the speaker's on in the studio. Eddie can't escape it because the monitor's on for our listeners. I'm just going to tell you this right now.
We can't always say that for sure they're going to attack because we don't know. But this is what we do know. They crash weddings, dude. We all know that. They get all drunk and they're like, oh, do you know John? How did you know? How did you meet John? And you're like, I'm Debbie's nephew. Yeah, I'm Debbie's nephew. You're like, really? I've never seen you around. When did you go to school with him? So, anyway. Well, thank you, bro. And call us back on Monday, all right? Oh, yeah, sure thing. Thank you so much. All right, brother. We'll see you. All right, one more. Oh, thank you. This is P1, I Can't Feel My Face. P1, I Can't Feel My Face. Are you there? Tell us what you're nervous about. I'm nervous because I have to tell my parents that my 40-year-old wife is pregnant and I'm 19. Oh, wow. What's wrong with that? But you're married? Yeah, we're married. Okay, well, she knows that you're married, right? No, they don't. Okay. Oh, yeah, yeah, that's the problem. That's a little bit of info. Probably, yeah, that's not going to go over well. Probably, yeah, that's probably going to be a trip. Could cause some controversy.
So what are you going to tell them first, that you're married or that she's pregnant? Well, I think I was just playing on, you know, slurring it all together and just say, yeah, you know, we got married. Yeah, definitely go like this. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. Definitely go like this. Hey, Mom. I just wanted to tell you that my wife is pregnant. Pick up. She's 40. Why are you saying I'm so funny? Because, Mom. Because, Mom. Because, Mom. Oh, my God. I do not recommend slurring it. No. And I recommend telling him that you're married first and then that she's, well, yeah, that you're married first, then that she's 40, then that she's pregnant. Yeah, that's a good order. Yes. That's news to me. It's a miracle. Yeah. Hey. It's a miracle. It's the ultimate trifecta. Yes, that's right. Call us back. Yeah. That goes. Thank you. We'll talk to you Monday. I have a question for you guys. Have you guys seen the video of the three-year-old caught on tape falling through the fence? No. Doesn't seem like that big a deal to me. What? Doesn't seem newsworthy to me. I'll explain to you why when we come back. And at 7.45, approximately 10 minutes from now.
We're going to be playing back P1 Answering Machine, and wait till you hear what we've got on that answering machine. Wait till you hear what we're going to play yet. Don't go away. Rock 105.3 Traffic. Brought to you by Sleep Train Mattress Centers. We've got some tough spots on our freeways. Not exactly a Friday morning light commute, but it could be worse. South miles out of the five. Pretty heavy now out of La Costa all the way to Solana Beach. South 15 stays tough out of Escondido, as usual, from the 78, slow to Via Rancho Parkway. Nelson brake lights into Poway. Westbound 52, starting to see some stack up out of Santee here from the 125. Heading up toward the Mission Trail Summit. Your West 8 also punching up here from Jackson Drive out to Lake Murray. And both the 5 and the 5 northbound. It's got plenty of stuff on both these freeways now out of Chula Vista International City. 8 to 5 has got it off and on through North Park. And now a very heavy ride coming out of Kearney Mesa heading up to Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. I'm Rick Lawrence on Rock 105.3. I just want to let you know that Sleep Train still has this deal going on for you right up until Sunday night at 7 o'clock. I'm talking about the mattress price wars. And again, it goes until Sunday night at seven o'clock. One of those deals where, you know, every single person is affected by the economy that we're in. Everybody's been affected by it. And so if you're in a place where you're like, I need a mattress, all the stuff that's going on with the economy is affecting me. What's the best way I can go about this? Sleep train, man.
especially during Mattress Price Wars because they're fighting with the other mattress companies for your business. And so if they're doing that, you're the one that's going to make out. So go into Sleep Train and get in on this Mattress Price Wars. It ends Sunday night at 7 o'clock. This is the time, man. This is definitely the time. Tell them about me when you go in there. Say you heard it on the Mikey Show. Sleep Train is your ticket to a better night's sleep. The Mikey Show continues. Featuring Mikey. I'm really interested in weather. Eddie. You know me, dude. I'm entrenched in sports. Sky. I know I'm a loud talker. Sean. I cannot stand to watch people cry. Boss and Rob. I have a whole DVD collection of Red Sox, though. And Ashley. I do my part to help Global War meet. On Rock 105.3. Pauly's pizza's so good. Hold on. You gotta fold it. It takes me out. It's a folding pizza, you know what I mean? Oh. Welcome back. Okay. Welcome back to the Mikey Show. It is 740. Saturday Night Live has hired two new actresses to replace Amy Poehler. Hang on. Oh, Eddie is taking a... Okay, I know. Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker is going to have ankle surgery and be done for the season. Okay. So, I don't know if you've seen the video.
I don't know if you've seen the video, but there is this video of this family and they're taking home video. You see the ocean in the background. You see this fence and it's got like a top post and a bottom post. And he wants to take a picture. So the three kids are standing up against it and the three year old kind of falls through the thing. And it looks like, oh, my gosh, the kid just fell off this cliff into the ocean, you know, and it's making big news. Well, as the camp and when I first saw it, I was like, I flipped out. Right. That's audio from the first time Mike saw it. But then the camera comes over to the cliff real quick and you realize that, you know, there was like about one foot drop and the kid's, you know, there and there's no fall or anything. And the dad goes over the fence and he grabs a kid and he pulls it back up. And one of our P1s that's in here today, she's like, she goes, she said, what is that? I said, oh, I'd freak out. I'd say, oh my goodness, it's a hundred foot drop. Until, you know, you see that it's a foot drop.
And then you go, oh, you know what I mean? How much further was the cliff from that drop? I don't know. See, that's what's hard to tell because I read the story first. I was like, oh, my gosh, that sounds horrible. And then I saw the video. And like when I was watching the video, I never saw the big cliff in the back. It was like there was a good section of land that was there. It was like the fence, a little one-foot drop, and then further in the distance was the actual cliff. But the little girl's on the Today Show with her family this morning. Here's what I do think. I think that it is a good example of like, gotcha. You know what I mean? That's what it looked like to me. It was kind of a gotcha. You know, like, ooh, that looked really bad. Like a Zappo? Yeah, it's a Zappo. You know, like I got Zappo. Now I should talk to everybody. Hey, Ben. Trucker hat. A spaghet. A spaghet. I think it was a good spaghet, you know. Well, that's how it all started. Spaghet. Spaghet. That girl fell. Oh, no. That's scary. So we have something that we do called P1 Answering Machine. And P1 Answering Machine is pretty cool.
You can just call us at 858-715-1923, and you can leave messages for us. You can make suggestions. You can do whatever you want, like this suggestion. Hey, guys. P1 Sharpie here. I really miss the breaking down of songs and analyzing them line by line. That was awesome. I think it should be done again. Yeah. Just a suggestion. I missed that bit, so hopefully you guys will do it again. Love that bit. Love that bit. We've done it with the best one probably was Nickelback. Well, anything Nickelback. You just, you know, you listen. Well, those lyrics are so dynamic. Yes. You know, you just play the song back, you listen to the words, and you pause it as you're going through it, and you go, hmm. You just kind of see, you analyze, what were they thinking when they wrote that? Well, they cry out for analysis. That's right. It's very deep. They really do. They really do. That's so vague. Yeah. I mean, take a song like Thriller from Michael Jackson, just play it back and go, hmm, let me see, what is the meaning here? Ponderous. What are we talking about? Ponderous, man. Ponderous. But sometimes you get messages like the one I'm about to play for you.
This is pretty good as well. Hey, Mikey Show. This is P-Wom Pubby Cup, and I got a story to share about life, love, and happiness, and all the contrary. My life has been amazing for the last four years, thanks to my beautiful girlfriend who can't pass all my fears. She helps me see right where there is only wrong, and her character and personality are so incredibly strong. She has climbed the top of my emotional ladder and pushes on my stomach when I have a full bladder. Now in front of the whole B1 army and all others to see, I have just one little question. Jamie, will you marry me? Thanks, Mikey. You guys rock. I'll be calling in shortly. Hopefully we give you a good answer. Oh, my gosh. Thanks again. Oh, my gosh. I just got the chills. I have chills. We had a proposal on the air. I hope she's listening. Oh, that is so sweet. Oh, I'm going to cry. He better make sure she's listening. But I want to hear what happened, too. That's a proposal on the air using the Mikey show. That's amazing. I like it. And the poem was beautiful, except for that bladder part. I love that. The rest of it was gorgeous. I love the poem. I mean, it's hard to rhyme, ladder. Yeah. Whatever. So, hey. Again, I'll never be sadder. No? No, I got to guess that they are together. Excuse me, Edgar Allan Poe. Well, just saying. Who puts bladder in?
I got a guess. Michael Crichton. Yeah. Oh, too soon. I got a guess they're together. See, I thought the Poe was a little too soon as well. It's been 157 years. I'm guessing that you guys are listening right now. And so if you are, call us. I want to know what the response was. You know, is she get all teary? What's going on? So call us, 570-1053. Let me know what the deal is. In just a little bit, we're going to be doing Ask the Oracle, where we will ask sports questions of our sports Oracle. Awesome! So get ready for that. Let's see. Oh, also coming up on the show, we are going to have, from the Food Network, Ted Allen will be in the studio. Oh, man. And so, what do we got? He's on the line there. That's him? Yeah. Hey, dude, how are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm good. Have you got her with you right now? Yeah, she's right here. Hello. What did you think? Amazing. Oh, that's awesome. Did you expect it? No. I kept trying to push me out of the house this morning. I was like, calm down. What are you pushing me out for? He said, we've got to get in the car. We've got to get in the car. I was like, what? Oh, that's great. That's great.
Worked out perfect. Worked out perfect. Thank you so much, guys. Big thanks to Eddie for helping me set this up. Yeah, for sure, dude. Wait, so you guys were just driving in, like, your car just now, and Jamie, you just were, like, listening, you had no idea, and you just heard that? No, and I was sitting there listening, and Eric's just, like, you guys were talking about whatever the P1 first thing was. And I was just, he's like, wait, listen, Jamie, wait. And I'm just like, why? And he's like, just wait, wait. And then it like came on. I heard his puppy cup. I was like, oh my God. Yeah. Oh, okay. Now let me ask, when is the wedding? Oh, I'm going to cry. You don't know. You don't know. You got to figure it out. So did you just turn to him and say yes, like right there? First of all, I put my head in my hands in complete shock, and then I started crying, and then I kissed him and said, of course I will, yes. Answering is always good. Oh, yeah. Yes, it is. You guys are the best. That's great. Thank you guys so much. Appreciate it. You're very welcome. Congratulations, and, you know, send us updates and pictures and all that stuff. Invite us. Yeah. It's an invite. That's right. Open bar. We love it.
Absolutely. That's right. Hey, thanks a lot. This is for you guys, okay? We can score this for you. Yeah, this should be your wedding singer. Didn't we have it all? The nights we spent together. It's really beautiful. Hopefully he's available. It's really gorgeous. It's really gorgeous. Well, we want to hear from you, so definitely keep us updated with that, will you? Congrats. Yeah, that's awesome. Thank you, guys. There it is. I'm going to cry. Two happy kids. Let's see. The CIA says that Bin Laden is isolated and fighting for survival. I didn't know they were still looking for him. Yeah. They're with OJ. They're looking for that real killer. They're looking for Bin Laden. Yeah, they said that he's isolated now from the day-to-day operations of the organization that, you know, he normally heads, and that also he's putting a lot of his time and energy into his own survival and into his own security. Yeah, I subscribed to his video blog, so I was watching that. He picked up Sudoku. Yeah. He started doing that a lot. He's like, you guys should have no idea how isolated I feel right now.
You know, just feelings of isolation can really start to get to you. So bored after a while, you know? And now with Chemical Ali not around, like, what are you supposed to jam to? Exactly, because Chemical Ali used to spin in the background, you know? He'd be like... And now he's really isolated because Chemical Ali's not there anymore. It's a bummer. Yeah. Samantha Ronson, I guess, offered to spam for him. She's really good at her. She's gay, so I was like, I voted yes on eight, and she was like, forget it. You know us Muslims. That's right. So here's the deal. In about 10 minutes, we're going to be playing Rob on the street. Oh, no. Yes. Oh, I love it. We have Rob out on the street. Good thing, though. 911 was not called on me. That's good. That's a change for you. It means that there's not a trend happening. Rob out on the street. What were we having him do? We sent him to GameStop. Why did we send him to GameStop? Because of this new video game that's out. What's it called? Gears of War 2. Warcraft.
Gearing it up. Wars of the gear. No, no. In your world. Rock and shock them, Gears of War. It's called GearCraft. World Rock Shock. It's a new video that's out that it's extremely popular. It's really good, Mike. So when we come back, we will be playing Boston Rum. It's going to be awesome. Don't go away. This is the Mikey Show. So you're the guy who pooped in my tuba. 105.3. Christine Cunder. He's alive. That's not my son. It was a lie. The mayor wants this to go away. That would mean just city forever. Convey the prisoner to the county psychopathic ward. And recently they just got me a new company that saved me an additional $320. $320 off what they had already saved you? Yeah. Power through them with Advil, cold, and sinus. Use as directed. It's another Mikey moment. There is going to be a farewell show for the program TRL on Sunday. There's going to be tons of, you know, artists and performers coming on. Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Nelly, Beyonce, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Fred Durst, Jonathan Davis. Oh my God, low it up.
Hello? Fred, you're going to be there at the thing or what? Back to the Mikey show on the rock. Rock 105. Great album. That other song? Dude, they didn't really have much in the way of hits, but this album is great. Every song. Battlefield, right? I love this song. This is where they use the drums that are like little steel wires. Oh, yeah. I better turn it off now, guys. All of a sudden, it wasn't as fun. It is 8 o'clock. Hillary Clinton was in Chicago yesterday fueling the rumors that she's Obama's choice for Secretary of State. Charges take on the Steelers this Sunday. All the action can be heard right here on Rock 105.3. You guys hear about the guy in Nebraska that attacked his girlfriend because she cooked macaroni for dinner?
You guys hear about that? This is horrible. This is horrible. So first, I think it's worth mentioning the fact that alcohol was involved in the incident. The gentleman was intoxicated. What does that have to do with anything? You have to mention that. So him and his girlfriend lived together and I guess she had made him macaroni again for dinner. So he took the pot full of macaroni and smashed her in the face with it. Oh, that's not good. Yeah, bruised up her face, cut her nose. He has been arrested for assault. Dopey dude. I want winners. Okay, fine. Remember when your mom used to give you cereal for dinner? Eddie, you know what you're doing right now. I didn't know that. It's not dinner. It used to get mad and be like, oh, you're being lazy mom. Cereal again? Oh, wow. Oh, gosh. It's funny to look back at that now. It's hysterical, actually. It's hysterical. You know, when I, well, you know, it was, you know, cereal. Yeah? Some kids love cereal. I would love it. It was dinner, though, you know, so you think, you know, you get a steak, meat, potatoes. Steak with cereal? That doesn't sound good. Who would want that? A lot of times, you know.
A lot of times I would make the cereal. Sometimes I'd make it. Why not? What kind of cereal are we talking? Captain Crunch. Real healthy stuff. Good fiber? Yeah. Grew up to be big and strong and fat. Sturdy. Little man on the street, guys. Little man on the street. What do you say? So Rob went out yesterday. Oh, man. Well, this game, Gears of War, is like crazy popular. I'm not positive of the stat, but it sold some like 2.1 million copies the first day. That's crazy. The first day. Dude, can you believe that? I've said this before. I don't understand why Will Smith and, you know, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, I don't understand why they're not... starring and are the voice of every game. You know what I mean? Because they make as much money as movies make. They make crazy money. Especially over time. My guess is the makers of the game don't want to pay. They don't have to pay big stars because they make tons of money as is. That's true. Okay, so Rob goes to GameStop.
and he just starts asking about these games. Real quick. Yeah? Do you know where GameStop was? Isn't there a few of them? Yeah, it was inside the mall. Eddie and Rob just high-fiving. I mean, we went through that. That was not huge. I mean, I even fell for it. Thank you, Scott. Thank you. You just made my day. What do you think, Scott? Lame. One time Sky said them all back in the office. One time. Something about the way she said it that caught Rob's fancy. Don't tickle them. And so it's become a running joke, eh, Sky? So the first person that you talked to was a lady.
What are you saying here, Rob, that she wasn't really a fan of the game? Yeah, you know, it was weird because I was just hanging out outside and I was kind of catching people on their way out, you know, because when they're heading in there, they are like, you know, locked on and targeted in for this game. And I saw her cruising around the whole store and like she was like looking at video games and, you know, like it seemed like she was a gamer and she was maybe like late 40s or no, she told me she was early 50s. So when she came out, you know, I was like, hey, can I rap with you about this game? And then she tells me, didn't even know anything about video games. Excuse me, miss, I saw you walking out of the videos game store. Were you here to get the new Gears of War 2? No, I was not. Just looking. Who made you come down here? My boyfriend. Have you ever heard of Nintendo? I've heard of Nintendo, but I've never... You never got to play, like, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out? No, no. All right, so video games. Let's see. Are you good in the kitchen? Wait a second. Why would you ask if she's good in the kitchen? What a weird way to go. What a direction is that? Wait, hold on. I'm just asking stuff. Okay, fine. I could have said mountain climbing. All right. Kitchen came to me first. All right. All right. What about a vacuum? Okay, Rob. Okay, Rob.
You had me when I believed you, but then... Listen to her answer. ...with the vacuum. Yeah, very good with the vacuum. See, well, then there you go, Skye. Well, there it is. What is your problem? The lady told me she keeps a very clean house. How did that not sound sexy? This guy looks like the jerk. I do not look like a jerk. So a lady can't, you know, be good with the vacuum, like the kitchen? Yeah, but why a vacuum and a, you know. Okay, Dustbuster, I don't know. Now the next guy that Rob talked to. I guess he got a little bit in depth about it, right? He was a gem. This guy taught me so much that I couldn't even put it all. We talked for about 15 minutes just after this interview. Sounds like fun. You guys are roommates now. So did you come out to buy Gears of War 2 today?
No, we actually came out for Wrath of the Lich King, but I played Gears of War 2. Whoa! What the heck? I have no idea about any of this stuff. I'm playing Golden Axe as we speak in my head. In my head. Golden Axe. I've never heard of that. Well, be ready to learn. All right. He explains. Okay. You have played Gears of War 2. Can you tell me anything about it? Is there anything like Super Mario Brothers? No, not at all, really. It's so insulting, by the way. It's so insulting. I don't play video games. Please. So what? I like Nintendo. It's not 1991 anymore. What about Pitfall? It's... It's an over-the-shoulder third-person shooter, which means it's got a lot of quality. I've heard of over-the-shoulder boulder holder, but that's like a funny name for a bra. Totally different than this. Totally different. You know, that guy's never seen one of those. Okay, I don't know. What do I know? I don't know anything. He's a first-person shooter. So it's kind of like you're in a backpack? It's like you're hanging it over somebody's shoulder a few feet behind.
So it's not like the high-quality graphics of, say, something like Tetris. Actually, the graphics are very good. Oh, my gosh. They have good texture detail, and they have good world environment detail. What's the hot game in the video game world right now? Wrath of the Lich King. That is a... Wrath of the Lich King? Is that what he said? We kind of rap about it right here. Lord of the Rings, where they walk to Lich King. I thought that's what it was, too. World of Warcraft. It's a new expansion that came out. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. 50, 60 bucks. 50, 60 bucks? Who am I, Pauly Shore? I saw his cribs. Loaded with money. Loaded, all right. Now, the next one says he talks with another gamer, and there is kind of an awkward silence during the interview. Yeah, you got to really listen for it.
I was kind of running out of stuff to say. I'm not that much of a gamer. Yeah. So I was just, I was trying to relate. I'm trying to relate and, you know, just connect with these people. I try to see if you can find the awkward silence. Sir, did you come out here today for Gears of War 2? No, I actually came out for World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King. Hey, remember Nintendo? Yeah, I do. Remember Mario Brothers? Yeah, I remember Mario Brothers. Yeah, that was a cool game. What kind of... I don't know. Red speckled. Last time I ate magic mushrooms, I ended up on a bus with no shirt on calling some old guy my mother. That's a true story. Remember Tetris? Do you know what kind of monkey Donkey Kong was? A gorilla. I don't know. Yeah, probably, right? What other video games do you remember? Oh, God. Crash Bandicoot. Yeah. Super Joe. No. Nah. Okay, fine. I don't remember. You guys don't mesh. You guys do mesh.
I was trying to connect. There's no connection between the two of them. The chemistry is off. But I gave it an attempt and I was trying. Silence is powerful. It really is. And says a lot. You remember Sonic the Hedgehog? You remember Space Invaders? You remember Q-Bit? What about Missile Command? See, I kind of... What I got from that is I sensed... Two guys at different places with video games. That's what I sense. I once got high score on Centipede. Are you impressed? There you go. What about Dig Dug? Now, the next one is, in fact, a World of Warcraft fan. It must have been a big day for that. Did we miss out? It got released, I guess, Wednesday night. I knew that, please. So those were all the lines. Yes, of course. Obviously. By the end of interviewing people, I was just like, all right, you know, were you here for Gears of War 2 or what do you... Well, they sound like a lot of the PC gamers because isn't that what that is? Very politically correct, right? Very politically correct. They're like African-American. They're like all of them. Caucasian. Yes. Very PC. All right. So did you come out here today for Gears of War 2? No, I actually came out to pick up Wrath of the Lynch King. Wow!
What a popular game. I don't even know what that is. Me either. World of Warcraft, like, takes over people's souls. Yeah. You don't understand. You don't understand. It is seriously the most addictive game. Everybody that I know plays it has been freaking out that this new extra set came up. Really? Because it only goes to level 70. So once you get to level 70, you're, like, bored or whatever. So now, like, they just moved it. So now they've got level 70 to 80. And that's what this package is that everyone's buying. Wow. They've got 10 more levels they can play. Wow. Now, in Rash of the Itching, what is... You are so insulting. I was a level 80 proof drunkard with one DUI. That is true. You're pretty proud of. Well, I've got a level 70 torn warrior, but I'd be interested to know how to get a drunkard. I could show you. We just got to go to PB and you got an open tab. Sorry, Jeff. He is our man on the street. I really connected. I really did. You did. I got some friends. Yeah, some lifelong friends. Making friends and lifelong roommates. You guys are like the same. We've got some tough spots on our freeways here this morning. The South 5 is a bit of a struggle down the North County coastline from La Costa all the way to Solana Beach. South 15, however, is looking fantastic. It's a real nice-looking ride out of Escondido. It does bunch up briefly, though, around the Poway area. Westbound 56 is backed up pretty good as well from Rancho Santa Fe Farms getting to the 5 freeway. The 8-bound, I think that westbound 8 is looking great at La Mesa in the Mission Valley. West 94, just a minor delay in the downtown. Things are easing up out of the South Bay as well. You've got the 805 and the 5, a little bit slower up to the National City as usual. The 805 does bunch up briefly here in the North Park. Quite tough, though, coming out of Kearney Mesa for a slow ride up the Governor Drive in the Golden Triangle. I'm McLawrence on Rock 105.3. Snap is good, and Feely, the Jets have won it. 31. Comfortable handshake, I'm sure, between Mangini and Belichick. They're BFs. Yeah, they're really good friends. From football to baseball and everything in between, it's time to talk to the man who knows all. It's time to ask the Oracle.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a plethora of sports knowledge in one man. His name is The Oracle. He's The Sports Oracle. And Eddie knows pretty much all there is to know about sports. And he's also on the pregame show for the San Diego Chargers. You can find him here on Rock 105.3 on Sunday mornings. What time is the broadcast this weekend? Well, it's a 1 o'clock game, so that means pregame starts at 10. But, of course, I come on an hour early for the fantasy football show. There it is. P1 Boise is on the line with a question. Go ahead. Hey, what's going on, guys? How are you all doing? Good, man. What up, what up? All right, Oracle. I've been dying to ask you this. What do you think the chances of Boise State being the repeat Cinderella story of a year ago again this year? Well, you know, I mean, their chances are pretty good. You know, they're a good football team. They're undefeated right now. The hard part is the way the BCS is set up, they're going to have a hard time sneaking in there, especially if Utah goes undefeated the entire way. They're going to get that kind of last BCS spot, and Boise State will kind of get the thumbs out. That's such BCS. That is total BCS, dude. I was hoping that Boise State could possibly make it to the Quinsettia Bowl and maybe play BYU here, which would be awesome for me.
I would love to see them be the upset story again against a big team. Maybe like, well, I was hoping it would be Penn State, but they're obviously not going to make it after losing to Iowa. Sky would, too. She's a Poinsettia Bowl season ticket holder. So she goes for three years. Tailgates. Beer time. They'll probably be in a bigger bowl than the Poinsettia Bowl, I'm guessing. I mean, do you mean the Holiday Bowl or do you mean the Poinsettia Bowl? I mean the Holiday Bowl. Yeah, yeah. That's a possibility. There you go, man. P1 Bolt fan, you there? Yep. What is your question? If the Chargers don't make the playoffs, is it time to get rid of Norm? Oh, uh-oh. Don't we ask this question every week? Yes, we do. I love it, though. In some way or another, it's asked every week. If the Chargers don't make the playoffs, yes, I do believe that a change needs to be made. If you look at the way this team performs, it underperforms almost on a weekly basis. Even last year, we made it to the AFC Championship game. That was awesome. But at the beginning of the season, this team started out really poorly, and I hate seeing that. Daddy, you're the general manager of the San Diego Chargers, and I am giving you the task of going out and hiring a head coach. The only criteria I have is that this person must have coached in the NFL before. I've already told you. Who are you going to hire for me? Bill Cowher. Do it. Yes. Done. Okay. We got it. There it is. I love Bill Cowher. There it is.
Thank you very much. He doesn't want to live on the West Coast. Let's move it here. Can't do it. Move what here? The East Coast? Yeah, move the East Coast here. How much would that cost? Just give me an abrupt estimate. Can't do it. P1 Jeff. Jeff, you there? Yeah, I'm here. Go ahead, man. What's your question? Hey, Shafi. I was just wondering, San Diego is the greatest city in America that does not have a hockey team. What do we have to do to get a hockey team around this place? Wow, that is an interesting one. Seriously, Eddie. Well, there's quite a demand out there. I'll tell you, man, that's the deal. That's a problem, right? Is it? Well, you know, it's never going to happen. Yeah. Because San Diego... First of all, wouldn't even support a minor league hockey team. The goals aren't even in existence anymore. So I really doubt they would support a national hockey league team. Can't do it. They don't even have basketball here because there's just too much going on, I guess, in San Diego. So it's never going to happen. But, hey, you got those Anaheim Manny Ducks just a couple hours away. That's right. LA Kings. That's right. Is that who you root for right now, the Ducks? No.
No, I'm an Avalanche fan. Really? Yep. Well, there it is. All right, brother. Thank you. Sorry, man. P1 Construction Chewy. Whoa. Hey, what's going on, Robo? What's up, man? No, I just want to get your take on the Bela Hoya-Paquiao fight. Oh. Oh, la la. When is that? Is that like this weekend? No. I think it's bogus, though, man, because Bela Hoya had made a promise that he would fight, you know, the winner of Margarito Cotto. Well said. Eddie, what do you think? Well, I mean, you know, the Pacquiao fight is a much bigger fight for Oscar, and it's much more of a draw and all that. I mean, that's going to break records. Oh, my God! The Latin fighters and our Latin fans are going to buy that fight like crazy. It's huge. It's a huge fight. I think that Oscar's going to win that fight. I think he's physically bigger than Pacquiao, and I think that he's going to beat him up pretty badly, I think. Yeah, and that's what I'm saying. Don't you think it'd be a better fight with Margarito if Margarito beat the crap out of the lawyer? Yeah, I think Margarito or Cotto would be a great fight for Oscar, and he'll probably get to it. I mean, don't worry. Be patient. Man, I've been patient for long, man. I feel you. Margarito fan, man. Oh, are you really?
All right. I love margaritas, too. A little salt on the rim. That's a margarita, Sky. That's a margarita. Thanks for the call, Construction Chewy. P1 Phoenix, what's up? Hey, good morning. I have a question for Eddie. I was wondering what he thinks about the Arizona Cardinals and how they shot the playoffs. Well, they got a player on there you like, right, Ash? That's right. Mike, that's the only guy. She loves that guy. What's his first name again, Ash? He's so good. He's number 11. That's right. And his name is Fitzgerald. That's right. Freaking maniac on the field. That's all his name is. Just Fitzgerald. He's like Madonna. That's right. He's like Madonna. These and gentlemen, Fitzgerald. Love those Cardinals. Well, the Cardinals are going to make the playoffs this year. Wow. Well, it's because of the division they play in. I want winners. Is poop.
Next weekend, right? So they should be 7-3, hopefully. Yeah, they'll be fine. They're going to make the playoffs, which is pretty cool. I love seeing fresh blood in there. I really like Ken Wisenhunt as a coach. I think he's doing a real good job. Name made Sky laugh. Wisenhunt? Wisenhunt? That's me. anyone else funny. It's because the word whiz is in there. Oh, okay. Now I get it. See her face? She loved it. She's giggling all over again. Very childish. But yeah, I think that Kurt Warner actually has a real good shot of winning the MVP. Oh my goodness. I know. Who would have thought that? But yeah, Cardinals will make the playoffs and probably lose in the first round. Oh, I like that. That's good news. Eddie, I have a question. Go ahead. Go ahead. Who's speaking? That would be me. In the box. What's that? What's in the box? Go ahead, Jeff. About Kurt Warner. Would you say Hall of Fame or no? Oh, man. You know, that actually is a great question. That is a far out question. You're great, Seth. Thanks. He had a crazy career. And, you know, he came from being a bag boy to being a Super Bowl MVP. Like he used to bag groceries? Yeah. Wow. Yeah. It's unbelievable. He went to the Arena League and then he got a shot in St. Louis.
It was the perfect time, perfect system for him. And he went to the Super Bowl, won a Super Bowl, went the next year to the Super Bowl, lost to the Patriots. Rob. Yeah. And, you know, it was an amazing four or five-year stretch, you know, playing in St. Louis. And then he kind of fell off the map. You know, he went to New York, failed there, went to Arizona, didn't have, you know, a sterling start. You know, they drafted Matt Leinart. He was going to be the quarterback there. And then all of a sudden, you know, last year he got an opportunity to play again when Matt Leinart got hurt, and he started playing great again. Plus he got that little number 11 going on. Oh, yeah. Fitzgerald is real good. Absolutely. And this year he's having another MVP caliber season. So I think if Arizona does pretty well in the playoffs, if he can somehow get these Cardinals far in the playoffs, I'm not going to say Super Bowl because I would think that would be impossible. But who knows? Nothing's impossible with Fitzgerald. You're right. If he goes to the Super Bowl, absolutely Hall of Fame quarterback. Wow. You're smart, man. You're good, Eddie. I mean, come on. My boy is wicked smart. That's the question, man.
It's all about Zeph. Yeah, Zeph. Our text number is 35253. And I'm picking Brock Lesnar, by the way, this weekend in the giant fight in the UFC. Sorry, Randy fans. Oh, he's the best ever. And AMCO will. And they've been in business since 1964. And there's a way that you do that. The way that you stay in business since 1964 is you do it by being honest and helping people out and just doing business the right way. And AMCO does. And I believe in them. A fire that started last night in Santa Barbara County has burned more than 100 homes in the upscale community of Montecito. Jake Peavy, still a Padre. The deal just couldn't get done. GM Kevin Towers says he may move on to the Yankees or the Angels. And that Padre team, they get you, don't they? What's the problem? No, they get you to loving them or anything, and then they do. Break you down. Right.
I mean, I don't know what to say the problem is. Eddie, stop playing this game with us. Stop it. I don't understand what game I'm playing. I'm just saying. You know what you're doing over there, mister. Stop it. The Padres, I believe in what they're doing. Oh, yeah. You do not. See, that is a lie. Everybody in the Titanic in the water is fine. Yeah, exactly. They're not dead. They're falling. They're sleeping. Yeah. It's not true. You hate what they're doing. You hate what they're doing. Hate is a very strong word. I got some strong words here. Now it's time for the YouTube clip of the day. Or not. Okay. Paris Hilton was asked what kind of advice she would give to her fans about going green. Go, Ashley. I don't want to hear this. I can't. May I be excused? May I be excused? Where are you going to go? May I use the restroom? Just anywhere but here. Yes. Okay. You know, listen. No. I don't want to listen. You've heard Paris say that, you know, she thinks things like that are important, you know? Mm-hmm. And so, you know, Paris, what would you tell your fans? Cut 40. Ashley's so mad. Oh, Skye just slapped her microphone. Are you kidding me?
The girls don't like it, man. Girls turn some off. Maybe I didn't hear it. Yeah, listen again. Don't analyze. Just give her a chance. She works it out. She's going to give you an answer. Because that's what it's all about. I just do everything just to make myself happy and I have no idea. You know what I think is great about that is just that it's very positive. And I like that. I can respect that. I like how positive she is. And I know you guys agree. I mean, it's just really positive. I think she smoked a big old bowl of green before filming that. Thank you. Like, please. So accurate. But don't you guys just really love how, you know. I don't love it. No, Mike. No, I don't love anything. Yeah, come on. Give it another chance. What is to love? Please. I mean. You guys don't think that it's great that she says she just wants to be happy?
That has nothing to do with the question. I don't even know. Maybe she didn't know. Work it out. She's formulating. She's trying to think. She's formulating. Because that's what it's all about. I just do everything just to make myself happy. I have no idea. That's cool. Right, Sky? That's pretty nice. That's nice just to be that positive about it. Oh, that's too bad. Such a disgrace. She said that's what it's all about. That's right. The human race, Eddie. That's what it's all about. It is. Oh, my gosh, Mike. I don't know what this is. How could you put me in that? I can't. Oh, that was the worst. You guys know how Snimey Malilas. Say again. I'm sorry. Miney Slyle. Miney Slyle. Miney. Miney Slyle.
Smiley. Smiley. Smiley. Smiley. You're getting closer. Okay. She has a boyfriend named Justin Gaston. Oh, hello Gaston. Yeah. Well, hello. And they do not answer directly whether or not they're dating. Well, because she's 15 and he's 20. Oh, well, that's legal. Yeah, that's probably why they don't. They plead the fifth. So Maureen McCormick is interviewing Justin Gaston. Well, when you do that in-depth interview, you always go to Maureen McCormick. That's right. Does she have a TV show? I don't know. Actually, I think she might be a reporter for Access Hollywood because this is an Access Hollywood clip. I think she's doing stuff for them. So she asks Justin Gaston if she is Miley's boyfriend. Cut nine.
Are you Miley's boyfriend? Oh, just family friend. You know, there's such a great family. And being out in L.A., you know, I moved there two years ago and started a modeling career. And that's kind of just to break in the music and everything. Know what I would do? If I was Maureen McCormick? Yeah. You'd say that? Let's play it again. I'll just, we'll do it in real time how it should go. Yeah, yeah, act it out. Are you Miley's boyfriend? Oh, just family friend. You know, there's such a great family. And being out in L.A., you know, I moved there two years ago and started a modeling career. And that's kind of just to break in the music and everything. Oh, wonderful. Are you Miley's boyfriend? Love it. And just keep doing it. I have this picture of you guys holding hands. Oh, okay. I have this picture of her licking her teeth at you. I beg your pardon? He was doing a fashion show and she was in the audience and made eye contact with him while he was on the walkway and gave a... Ew, weird. And, of course, the photographer. Someone should tell her that that's not cool anymore to do. That was cool? I don't know. I swear it was. I didn't know that was cool. I swear it was at one point. It was? People would do it. Well, here's the deal. Yuck. I think it's odd that she says, are you Miley's boyfriend? And he starts talking about spaghetti or something.
Modeling career. Yeah, like answer the question, will you? What are you talking about? Yeah, I've been a model for a little while now, so all right. That's right. Yeah, I'm allergic to peanuts. Why? So I think you might enjoy this. What? You know, Jennifer Aniston. Ashley, you saw it, right? Yesterday on Okra. She was on the Okra Winfrey Show. That's right. It was a big day. Well, you guys know what the deal is, is that apparently Angelina or Jennifer Aniston did an interview with Vogue Magazine. And in it, she said that she thought that it was uncool that Angelina Jolie was saying things like, yeah, she thought it was really going to be great that one day her kids were actually going to have the opportunity to see mom and dad falling in love when they watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And Jennifer Aniston thought, boy, you know, we were married when you did that. That was my husband. And, you know, so she thought it was uncool.
Okra Winfrey was asking her questions about it yesterday. Cut one. What you said was what Angelina did. I didn't say that exactly. But you know what? That was unfortunately so not en vogue in my opinion. Pause. I've heard the audio. It's so strange, the answer to me. This is strange. She says, I didn't say that. But then she's going to proceed to say why she said it. So how do you explain, how do you go from I didn't say it and then explain why you said it? She said I didn't say that exactly. She didn't say that exactly? Yeah. But she goes on to explain. So the word exactly is, you know. She goes on to explain that they just used it, but like it sounds, okay, well let's listen. Okay. Unpause. In my opinion, but. You know, the cover line does not even, the content does not reflect the cover. Okay, well, I will say Jonathan Van Meter, he's a great interviewer, love the story. But you, is this out of context? You did say what Angelina did was very uncool. You did say that, you just didn't expect to be on the cover. Well, no, you don't expect, he asked me a question and I basically just answered it as honestly as I could. You know, I don't. So she answered it. So she did say it.
I just thought it was weird to say, well, you know, I didn't say that. Well, and then explain why she said it. I know exactly what the deal is. She didn't think that in the course of nine hours of talking. Right. They would take that one sentence and throw it on the cover and say, you know, in quotations, her quote. It's not taken out of context. Right. I'll give you an example of taken out of context. I hate, I hate milk. And somebody goes, wow, I read a quote here that says you hate milk. And I say, no, no, no, no. We were talking about flying on airplanes and how sometimes I'm lactose intolerant and it's the worst time to be drinking. I actually like milk. But when I'm on an airplane, there's a whole bunch of stuff and I explain that. But they took that out of context. It makes it seem like I don't like milk. I actually do like milk and that wasn't this. She said it is uncool. Go ahead.
In the beginning, when you listen to that clip, she goes, you know, well, you said it wasn't uncool. And Jennifer Aniston starts to go, I didn't exactly say that. What I said was it's not. And then you hear a pause and she goes in vogue. Like, like, so that's the exactly, you know, like she switched out cool for in vogue, which is you hear her pause and kind of think of a different word. It was listen back to it. OK, that first beginning part. OK, well, let's keep playing the clip. Unpause. If she didn't say it was uncool, wouldn't she be stopping her through here and saying... I didn't say that. Can I say what I think she meant? Sure. Because what I think she meant was that she didn't just come out and say that.
The interviewer asked her and she responded. She didn't like go to the interview and go, you know what I read? And that was so uncool. And I'm telling you that and put that on the cover. That's what I'm getting to. And that's the bye bye bye. Why not just say that then? Why not go like, yeah, I said it. Well, I think she was kind of trying to say it, but it sounds like she was kind of nervous even approaching the subject and was stumbling on her words. Which is how she kind of is. Like Jennifer, you know, she'll like stumble in her way that she talks. And is that a bad? Dude, that's what I was just going to say. See, that's what I was just going to say. See, a lot of times what happens, I think, with us as people, just as people, you know, as we we want to we get kind of defensive instead of going instead of actually thinking to ourselves, you know, it might be OK. This might not be anything wrong with this. You know, this is an honest feeling. And that's, you know, this is an honest feeling. And I get what you're saying. Like, I agree 100%. That's an honest feeling. That's how she feels. And she should be, you know, able to speak how she feels. But, you know, in Hollywood and everything, obviously, it's going to make huge headlines. It's going to distract from her career. Brad and Angelina are going to be like, hey, lady, I thought this was over. Why are you trash talking us? Aren't you over it yet? I totally agree with you guys. I agree with you. But, I mean, listen, if that's the deal, hang on. If that's the deal, just don't, you know, then don't go there.
No. So she should have said no comment to the Vogue interview? Well, what was the question? How did you feel when Angelina... Do you think it's uncool that Angelina did that? She could even say that, if that was the question. Do you think it's uncool that Angelina said that? And if she answers yes, then technically she said that. She said that. You know what I mean? Yeah. In a reporter's mind. Right. But I think why don't Jen Aniston take a stand here and actually be like, you know what, it is uncool. She's out there being a hussy going, oh, we fell in love. on this set when he was married, if that happened in day-to-day life, in the real world, I'd be like, you know how uncool that is, Miss Angelina? I don't think you would say uncool. He would use a different French. Yeah, he'd use something different. I'd use French. But that's the point. I agree with that. There's no reason to be afraid. There's no reason to be living in that truth. That truth is not something to be ashamed of, afraid of, or like... I don't think she, and I don't think she was being ashamed. I think she was, she answered it, but I think she kept it in a very, she was very classy about it and very like kind of professional. Like she, you know, when she was talking. Why do you hate Jen Aniston, Mike?
I'm getting a vibe that the chicks are like, why do you leave her alone? I just think you're reading too much into it. I think you're twisting it, bro. I don't see the big deal. Leave her alone. She's a classy lady. She should stand up for herself. The deal is, I agree with her. I agree with what she's saying. And stop attacking her. What's the problem? I mean, first her husband cheats and leaves and now you. I say, go for it. Go for it. If she feels like that, go for it. Don't be afraid of Okra Winfrey. Don't be afraid of the press saying that you said it was uncool. Or don't go on Oprah then. So let me get this straight. Now Mike wants to attack us. Let me get this straight. No, no, no. I'm talking to Jen. I'm talking to Jen. So let me get this straight. No, no, no. I'm not talking to Jen. I'm talking to, I guess, the public that reads the comment and goes, Jen, you terrible lady. I'm talking to them, right? Because those comments are obviously scandalous. So let's talk about that. Let me get this straight. So a woman's husband goes and films a movie, falls in love with his leading lady, leaves his wife for her, and starts an instant family.
And if you say that's uncool, oh my gosh, what is your uncouth problem? Like, it's cool, man. It's all right. I don't think it's the public. I think it's the publicists. I think it's the people in the industry. I think specifically it's Brad and Angelina. Tell you what else it is. It's Oprah asking the question. just sitting there asking the question puts a spotlight on the person like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah, it did, I think. Of course, yeah. You know, and it's like, man, you know, but sometimes it's hard to stop. Leave her alone. Jenna's way to squash something like that is to not show that much emotion. Be like, yeah, I kind of said it, but she kind of washed over it. Like, she played it smart, and then it's going to get dropped. Had she been like, yeah, I did say that because I really do think it's uncool, and I really am still upset. Everyone would be like, oh, Jen's not over it. Jen's upset. Jen's talking.
crap. And then it would keep going on. But that's the thing. She at least needs to stick out. She needs to hang out with me for a week. And I'd be like, you know what? I don't know. Have like a little IFB in her ear and you could be like, tell me. Tell Oprah she's supporting cheaters right now. You know, Oprah, you're supporting cheaters right now. That doesn't even make sense. And I honestly, and I was like, I was going to have Seth or Eddie check to see if this is right. Because, and when I was talking about it earlier, when I was talking about BMW Encinitas, I was like, is that right? And it is. And he makes it a point to say that this isn't going to be going on all the time. And it's, and I don't know how long this is going to be going on. Here's the deal. At BMW Encinitas, they have 2008 three series. vehicles that were in their loaner fleet. Meaning that when you go in there and you drop off your BMW to get service and you get a loaner, they were brand new 08s. They were in their loaner fleet. They are leasing them right now for $299 a month. It's a special program and that's what I know. That is gnarly. That's a great price. So you could be leasing one of these 2008 3 Series.
And I don't know how long it's going to last. And he's kind of making it clear in this that it may not be long and that they're not going to do it all the time. But it's happening right now. 299, 3 Series Beamers from their 08 loaner fleet. BMW Encinitas on Encinitas Boulevard between the 5 and El Camino Real. Big unit Randy Johnson files for free agency. So before we went to break, I said we're going to tell you who is rumored to be Obama's choice for secretary of state. It's weird. Oh, man. I just want everyone right now to get a visual of the two of them standing together. That's fantastic. Well, shirtless spotting each other. Okay, easy.
So, Skye, who is it? Well, Hillary Clinton is rumored. Come on. Yeah. Hillrod. Yeah, Hillrod. She is meeting with Obama today in Chicago. I am ready to rumble. So he doesn't. Like, he meets with her and then he's like, oh, nice to see you. No, sorry. According to two sources, that's what CNN is reporting that they are meeting today. Get the bricks, pal, and beat it because you are going out. But obviously no one is confirming or denying the whole Secretary of State position. But, you know, asked about Hillary, Obama's transition team also wanted to mention that Obama is meeting with John McCain on Monday. Ah. So maybe he will be involved in the Obama administration as well. So we'll have to wait and see. Well, yeah, I mean. He's a maverick. That's right. Secretary of Whistles and Drafts. That's right. But it's very strange. There's no talk of Sarah Palin meeting with any of the Obama camp. Yeah. Obama idea. Oh, John McCain. What if I throw the election by saying that Sarah Palin is going to be my vice presidential choice? You go with this conspiracy again.
Basically giving the election to you. And once you're elected, you put me in your administration. Wow, he's talking like crazy. Let's see. In La Jolla, there is a dog that is a hero. Ashley, you bet no. Mike, I don't know if you, well, I guess he is a hero. Ashley, take your headphones off. What's going on? I don't, don't, hey, don't upset me. I'm just saying. Sky, be cool. Sky, be cool. Where are the tissues? I don't, I can't. I've had a long morning. Yeah, you took that shot at me earlier.
I mean, just took her head off. Actually, it was two shots back to back. It was a shot, and then it was a misunderstanding. Maybe somebody took a shot to the head yesterday by a paintball. You know what I'm saying? I don't need this right now. Speaking of shots, got your back. That's a good one. That's interesting. Yeah, and you're to blame, Ashley. I didn't do it. Someone who should know my hair is my identity. That's right. It's paint in my identity. Yeah, your identity. It's who you are. It is. Sky. It defines me. Sky. What? Tell the story. Well, so this dog, little cute little pug is. Oh, a puggle? No, a pug. Not a puggle. Half of Sammy. Yeah, half of Sammy. A little baby pug is a hero after saving his owner's life. Whoa. It was an apartment fire in La Jolla, and the owner was in the shower at the time. And the dog just started barking like crazy. Good boy, good boy. And so finally the woman gets out of the shower, and she's like, oh, my gosh, there's a fire. And so in a panic, she runs out the door. Well, it closes and locks behind her, and she doesn't. Oh, man. Yeah. Unfortunately, the pug did not make it out alive. She says that her dog was the love of her life, and she's taken.
She's taking the loss very hard. Getting hot in here. So hot. So take off all your clothes. That is a bummer. Oh, that's ridiculous. Died as a hero. Pippet! Pippet! Oh, no. Come on, Pippet! You left Pippet in there. It's the stupidest story I've ever heard. Getting hot in here. Pippet! Pippet! Pippet! Come on, Pippet! Pippet's dead. Getting hot in here. Let me tell you something. Oh. Let me tell you something. No cat would ever do that for its owner. I'll tell you that. No way. You imagine a cat being like, hey, you know, get out of here. No, no. Cat already had a new home. Yeah. Cat would leave the door locked. Cat started the fire. Cat started the fire. I don't think the cat started the fire. Absolutely. I hope you humans die. Good luck getting out of this barricade. See ya. See ya. So you're saying the cat set up a barricade before leaving? Yes. Okay. That's the one you're getting away. You're all jerks. How great is that? That is the nature of a dog. Nature of a dog loyal. Nature of a cat, like, I'm out of here. Could care less. Could care less. There have been lots of cat heroes over the years. Oh, really? Tell me about them. Well, I'll have to get back to you. Do some research. Find me some cat heroes. In fact, Google.
cat hero. Maybe you'll come up with some stories of cat heroes. There's plenty of cat deaths, Mike. Yes, there is. Yes, there is. Smothering babies, it's one of their things. That's right. It's one of their pastimes. One of their pastimes. Not true at all. Dogs and babies don't get together. You were about to say dogs do it, too. They don't. No, they just bite fingers and toes off. They just eat them a lot. Yeah, they just bite and eat their digits. They protect the babies. Yeah, whatever. Not really. You don't see any cats in the back of cop cars, I'll tell you that. Amen, sister. They just maul them. That's right. Yeah. Mikey, remember this is a text message. Mikey, remember when earlier you were talking about things out of context? Well, I can think of something else that can supposedly be taken out of context, like... I would like to be Seacrest. Okay. It's P1 Texas Red. Yeah, that's not the case there, Texas Red. No, not at all. That was in context. I would like to be Seacrest. I think he doesn't understand how it works. That is taken out of context, you see.
Not really. Jerry's still out on that. Hey, Mikey, you think when Jen and John Mayer have a kid, Jen will name their kid I'm Not Bitter Aniston? That's P1 Vodka. I just heard they're back together. Let it go, bro. He talked about it on the show yesterday. We did not talk about it on the show yesterday. We did not talk about it on the show yesterday. That is a bold-faced lie. I didn't think we did either. We didn't. I thought what we said was something about, like, you know, she said, oh. She put him in check. Yeah, she put him in check. And he has that new show. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what we said. Yeah, we said that they got back together. No, we did not. Yes. No, we did not. No, we did not. The last thing we were doing was waiting on the world to change. He said, your body is a wonderland. Yes. I'll be there for you. And yeah, the lady Austin is straight out. Like, you guys dating. And he was like, why, Georgia? Why? And she was like, because everybody wants to know. Everybody wants to know. Who was I calling Georgia? Yeah, and he was like, whatever. I'm going to put you in check. You're going to never call me Georgia.
We even brought up the picture that they saw them back together. John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston back together. What do you mean we saw them back together? What were they wearing t-shirts that said we're back together? No, Skye said that in the magazine they were back together in the picture. No, she didn't. In the picture. What is photographic evidence of we're back together? Holding hands? Does that mean they're back together? Yes. They were reporting on it. What are you talking about? Everything that you don't know. She got you there, Eddie. So that's the only thing I don't know is John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston. Yeah, so it's a compliment. That's not bad. I think you're doing pretty good. I think so, too. So, Eddie, you'll like this story, but apparently Huge Jackman has... Well, it's Huge Jackman. Huge Jackman. Huge Jackman. Huge Jackman has bought a Manhattan Triplex. What is a Triplex guy? I don't know. To be honest, I was going to tell you what I thought it would be, but I really don't know. But I think it's like a three-level. Okay. Isn't that a triple flap? You put pudding in one thing, and then you put a little angel food cake. Yes, angel food. Or a little fresh berries, Mike. That's right. Yeah. I thought it was like a really big Playtex, but I don't know. No, that's something.
So how much did he pay for said triplex? Well, we don't know the exact price, but they say it was in between $20 to $23 million. That's a lot of money. It's Busty Finley's place. That's right. It's in Manhattan, you know, close to the Hudson River, about 11,000 square feet. Of course, you know, has a music room, a bar room, an exercise room, a library. You guys can go see that in Australia. No. Oh, my wife was saying she wants to see that last night. Really? You can't offer me $10 and I take it. Why? I'll definitely rent it. It looks like quite an epic. I will definitely rent that movie. I'm shocked. Well, it looks like it should be called Borstralia. So many things can go wrong with your car. Really small bites of food. The Mikey Show's on. You guys are so cute. Thank you. Rock 105.3. You know what time it is. You know it, dude. When you hear this song, it means it's the rock show. Take it away. And now, story. It is nothing. Life has hired two new actresses to replace Amy Poehler. Today in Boston sports, New England lost to the Jets 34-31 in overtime. We just... Try not to bring that stuff up. Oh, I thought you said to do more Boston sports. Okay. Yeah. Okay. FYI, sometimes I hold up reminders for Mike. He gives me the thumbs up. Just held up the reminder for Rob. He winked at me. Okay. That was a strange thing. It's his style. That is a little bit unnecessary. I don't like that style. What is that? That's how we're going to do things from now on. I don't know that that's appropriate. Anything? Yeah, there we go. Oh.
That rule that I just implemented sticks for the rest of the show. Okay. What was it? We have to wink at each other now. Yeah, you know how I hold the sign up for you and you give me the thumbs up? Rob gave me a wink. Oh, so it's changed to a wink? Yeah. But it's not like a little baby wink. It's the creepy guy. It's the curvy wink. Oh, it's the over-exaggerated. The weird wink. He took it there. What you call the weird wink. Yes. Okay, before we went to break, we were talking about this super man-y. Sure. What is it? Well, it debuts tonight after Super Nanny, and it is a male version of Super Nanny, so it will be a guy who goes into your house and helps straighten out your kids. He has 16 years of experience as a teacher and a developmental therapist, so we'll see. Rob and Eddie are giving a tutti-frutti hand. Come here, I'm going to spank you. I don't get it. Like, what's wrong with Super Nanny? Well, they have both. Is it going to be a British guy? Yeah, is there a difference between a man and a woman? Well, his name is Mike Ruglitz. Oh, yeah, that's British. No, Ruggles. Ruggles. Sorry, Ruggles, which is better. So what is it? No, there's no T. I inserted a T where there's not one. Hello, my name's Mike Ruglitz. No, Ruglitz. Let's see. Hey, it's a place I'll meet you.
Okay. Well said. That was fantastic. That's got to be the worst accent I've ever heard. But I oddly loved it. I did, too. It is a pleasure. Wow. Some pleasure, Mike Ruggles. Oh, really? You're Mike Ruggles? Oh, yeah. Come here, y'all, Ruggles. Spanking time. What's great about him is he's half British, half Australian. Excuse me, I'm going to light my smoke. And completely deaf, which is really... You don't mind if I smoke a fag in the house. There's children around. That's what they call a cigarette in England. Come here, you little cigarettes. This is going to be a fun time. Come here, you little cigarettes. I want to go on an adventure with you. We're going plenty. No, we're in the outback. It's originally where I'm from, but I just say English. No, wait, now he's Irish. Just a little bit, though. He's got lucky charms. Who knows what's up with this guy? This guy, tell everybody. So weird.
Tell everybody. What's the matter with you? I don't know, man. You're a mess. Tell everybody. A little later in the show, we're going to do some body training with George Michael. I must throw up. I'm training with George Michael, by the way. Oh, my God. Oh, wow. Really honest. Oh, God. Astronomers have captured the first image of new planets outside of the Earth's solar system. Here we go. And there's Starbucks there already. It was really a trip. Yeah, the pictures are really, really cool. Tatooine. Yeah.
That's what it was. Okay. The system is called HR 8799. Huff and stuff. Yeah. Yes. They say it's roughly one and a half times the size of the sun. It's 130 light years from Earth in the constellation Pegasus. The individual planets in this planetary family, they estimate to be seven to ten times the mass of Jupiter. And it's fully operational. That's right. So, yeah, you can go on CNN or any news website, and they have really cool pictures. Really? Yeah. Three tigers killed a zoo worker in Singapore. Three? Three. What did they do, gang up on him? Yep. He thought he was going to get made. He walked into the cage, and he was like, oh, no. Plastic all over. the floor. Three white Bengal tigers who each weigh over. Why do you have to stereotype the white ones? Please call them Caucasian tigers. Why don't you just say Caucasian ones? Okay. Three Caucasian Bengal tigers each weighing over. So Carson Palmer. Yes.
Each weighing more than 220 pounds took out this dude. They refer to him as a zoo cleaner. Don't know what. I guess he's a maintenance guy, whatever. And for some reason, he jumped into the moat surrounding. Yes, I'm familiar with it. Yes, I am. You're so dumb. Well, I have a moat in the moat. Yes. Moat surrounding the moat. Made a lot of moat maintenance. Yes. And it's hard to find a good moat maintenance worker. There's so little moat men out there. Moat men. By the way, if you're listening and you're a moat man. Mine's actually a root beer moat. That's right. He's good with a drawbridge. That is so stupid. I've had a root beer moat. Why are you laughing? I don't know. Grab one more scoop, please. And then rip them out. That's hilarious. Let's see. What else? Did I leave anything out? All right. See you later. Late. Foo Fighters are going to be on an episode of Top Chef? Yeah. What? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Talk about it. Talk about it. What? Okay. So it's going to be the Foo Fighters Thanksgiving episode of Top Chef. It's going to air November 26th. And I guess.
The Foo Fighters were performing in New York and the show happened to be there or whatever. So I guess the challenge is for them to impress the group, the Foo Fighters, with their culinary skills. And then Dave Grohl will actually be on the judges panel. I think he's kind of a foodie. Yeah, I've heard Grohl's kind of a foodie. I know he's big into cheese. It's a big thing of his. That's rad. Yeah. It's a great show. For sure. Which one did I miss that I really wanted to talk about? How about... Which one of these I don't want to do? You turkey! Yeah, you turkey. I think we've gone over everything. I don't think I'm leaving anything out. Alright, see you guys Monday. Oh, oh, oh. Tell me about these dummies that we're trying to rip off the Xbox. Rob. Yeah, way to go, Rob. So two dudes yesterday went into, I don't know, the way they describe it, I don't know if I'm describing it right, but this is my understanding, that there's something called game crazy inside of Hollywood Video, like there's a game store inside of Hollywood Video, is that correct? Really? Okay, yeah, that's the way I understood it from reading it. I had no idea. Yeah, who knew? Hollywood Video is still there?
Yeah, it still exists. And there's something called Game Crazy inside of the one in Claremont on Genesee near Balboa. And a little bit afternoon yesterday, two dudes went in and took an Xbox gaming system, like stole the video gaming console. Well, as they were running out, a gun fell out of one of the dude's pants. They just left it there and took off. Those are smarty pants. They got into a car and there was a chick waiting in the car with them. About 10 minutes later, the cops finally tracked them down near Claremont Drive and arrested all three of them. Sorry, suckers. This text says that Skye should see the movie Australia so she can answer questions on the dumb chick challenge. That's a good point. They need to make it interesting. Put Nick Cage in it. A lot of my knowledge of history comes from National Treasure. Yeah, that's true. So he's a good one. Hey Rob, that comment about potty training with George Michael almost made me crash my police car. I was laughing so hard. It's P150. Mikey, oh man, I spit coke all over my desk because I laughed so hard at P-Rob's. Come here, you little cigarette.
Stop it. I hate the way you mock us. We're just having fun now. I'm just trying to have a good time already. Fine. Fine. She didn't even say anything. Fine. Okay. Hey, Sky, did they do that earthquake drill yesterday? Oh, yeah. It was big time. How'd it go? Well, they say over 5 million people throughout Southern California participated. About 400,000 people in San Diego County took part in this. And it was crazy if you saw any footage on the news. Like, of course, in schools and stuff, they did the normal stuff where the kids were under the desk and whatever. But, you know, some, like, hospitals and emergency responders, like, did the full-on thing where they acted out. And you see some dude with, like, fake blood and pieces of glass sticking out of his face.
you know, little girls in wheelchairs with fake blood all over them. I mean, necessary, right? I mean, 100%. Totally necessary. Like we couldn't figure it out without all the dramatics. For sure. Yeah. So, of course, they remind everyone you be prepared. Be able to be self-sufficient for 72 hours in case of emergency. Dude, I can't be self-sufficient without Rebecca for 24 hours. So have first three days. Honey, what's my middle name? Seriously, I ask for everything. So have like three days, at least three days worth of first aid kit, medications, food, water. They say you should have at least a gallon per person per day. In your home or car or whatever. So be prepared. Just reminded me that last night her and I went to In-N-Out. And so she gets a number two with no tomato. I get a number two normal. And this one time, I remember, I ordered a number two and I got it with grilled onions. Right? Delicious. And so last night I order it. You know, she orders first. We're inside.
She orders first and then I order mine and the lady says, would you like yours with onion? And I said, yeah. She goes, okay. And then she's, and my wife goes, is that with, or she goes, is that grilled onion or regular onion? She looks at me and I'm like kind of annoyed, like just regular onion. And I'm just, and I'm thinking to myself, well, dude, you ask her for every single thing you do, but right now you're just like regular onion. Okay. But I ask her every single thing, you know. It's just funny how you, when you're married, you eventually have one brain. And it functions for everything. So every question, if you can't think of it, they can. That's the way it goes. Or your mom. I mean, you can always ask your mom about stuff. Oh yeah, Mike, you can ask Esther. We'll always know. Moms never forget stuff or important things. Important details. You marry your mother. So, you know, it's really good to know. Eddie, you're only saying that because, you know, that when I was a kid, you know. What? Eddie, how dare you? What? Your mom doesn't forget stuff. Wait a second. You know, my mom thought she forgot when I was born. Happened. I mean, who hasn't that happened to? Well, did your mom forget when you were born? Wait, she's your mom. Yeah, I mean, she was there.
I mean, listen, it happens sometimes where, you know, you forget. Sometimes if you don't write it down on your hand, you can forget. I'm sure it was only like a one-time thing. She just forgot it one year and it was like no big deal. No, no. Actually, we figured it out when I turned 13. So when you were one, she thought you were two. I mean, how did that work? No, no. She just didn't remember the day. Oh, gosh. She remembered it wrong. What an important detail. She remembered the day. There's been a lot going on. Had the day wrong. She always thought it was the day that the Indy 500 was, she said. Oh, really? Yeah. That's different every year. Well, it was a little reminder for her. Yeah. Yeah. So is that why she said that you were in accident? No. Okay. Actually, no. No. No.
I'm just trying to piece it all together. She said that because I was. She said that because she meant it. The Mikey Show. Oh, yes! From Universal Pictures and director Clint Eastwood, Los Angeles, 19th. Christine Collin vanished. Five months later. He's alive. The police told her they'd found him. That's not my son. It was a lie. The mayor wants this to go away. That would change a city forever. Conveying a prisoner to the county psychopathic ward. I can't do this. An uncle true story. Universal Pictures presents Role Models. Sure do like boobies, Ronnie. Sometimes I call myself the booby watcher. Kid, you got a lot to learn. I know what I'm doing. Never stare at the boobies. After I had first signed up for AIS about six months ago, I called back with the insurance company that I originally had to see if I can get a better deal now that I had a quote from AIS. And I talked to them, and they basically told me no. And about two months later, I got the gift card in the mail. And so I called them up to see why they had sent me a gift card.
And they said it was from somebody I referred, and they told me the name of the person. I didn't recognize the name at all. They said her name was Amy, and he's like, I don't know an Amy. And finally, she mentioned off the cuff that she just happened to work for the insurance company that I had called for before. So what had happened was it was a lady that I had called to get a better quote from, called into AIS to get a new quote. So the lady who works for your old insurance company heard that you got a better deal with AIS, and she then switched over to AIS? Oh, my God. So anyway, dude, thank you for telling us the story. Let me tell you something. These K1 electric carts are great, man. They are designed for you to feel.
Like you are really a formula race car driver. Why? Because they're fast, man. 20 horsepower. They're not like those 6.5 or 9 horsepower little gas-operated dealies. These things are cool, man. You're going to love them. I urge you to get yourself down to K1 Speed in Carlsbad. This is their website. Write this down and go check it out. K1Speed.com. Welcome back. It's K-I-O-Z San Diego. Shut up. Welcome back. Ted Allen is in the studio. Very nice. Thank you. Thanks for having me. He's a star of Food Detectives on Food Network, which is very cool. And you got some, dude, you got some good stuff going on. First of all, it smells of wine in here because Eddie and Sky. Don't mind if I do. Yeah, Vino, drink it up. Eddie and Sky are trying some of the. Robert Mondavi private selection, right? That's right. It's wine with breakfast today. There you go. This is cool. Ted is in the studio, and I was looking over notes on him and everything, and he actually grew up where my wife was born. Really? Yeah, he grew up in Carmel, Indiana. Your wife is from Carmel? She was born there. She was born there, but then right after she was born, they moved out here to San Diego, but she was born there.
So her mom has a lot of great memories of living there and everything. Well, I was from the bad part of Carmel, which is a joke that you would only get if you lived in Indiana. Yeah, because I guess it's kind of a small town, right? It's a small town, and it's a town that has gotten increasingly fancy. Actually, my folks, we did actually live in the bad part of Carmel, but it's a great school, fun place to grow up. Yeah, yeah. A little dull, actually. I'd rather live here. Now you're in Brooklyn? Yes, now I'm in Brooklyn. Which is awesome because there's so much great food. All the times, you know, we go to New York. We used to go to New York every year and have eaten in Manhattan a million times, but never been to Brooklyn. And all of our friends from New York say, dude, you haven't eaten until you got to Brooklyn. You know, it's true. And the really weird thing is that I went to grad school in New York like 20-something years ago. And back then, it was a stigma to be a 718er, to be a bridge and tunneler, to be someone who lived in Brooklyn or New Jersey. Now, all the cool people live in Brooklyn. Yeah, that's right. And I don't mean me. I mean, most of my friends have left Manhattan. They can't afford it. Yeah, yeah. But there's a lot of great stuff to eat there. And you're a guy that knows his stuff because I'm looking at the list of different things that you've done. First of all, you've got a book out called The Food You Want to Eat, 100 Smart Simple Recipes. I'm looking at it on Amazon.
It's all five stars. All your ratings are five stars. This guy writes, I'm kind of new at cooking and don't have a lot of time to do it, so I really appreciate cookbooks and recipes that aren't too difficult. At the same time, especially when I'm having friends over to dinner, I want to be able to serve food that's interesting and real. That was my brother. He sounds like a lovely guy. That's right. But, yeah, for real. I mean, the stuff in there is, I guess, simple stuff, and it's just real easy to make, right? Love it. The goal was to, yeah, my cookbook's recipes are, they all use real food. There's nothing that's not stuff out of packets or with microwaves. It's real, you know, fresh ingredients. But I tried to keep everything simple. And it's stuff that you can buy at any normal grocery store. So not semi-homemade? No. Careful, Ted. You're a member of the Food Network now. I know. Sandra Lee is a girl who's evidently in a hurry. And she does make a mean cocktail, by the way. I've seen that. She does the cocktails, for sure. One of the things I couldn't wait to talk to you about was...
doing Iron Chef America. Absolutely. Because I just want to know what that experience is like because we see it take place over the hour and it really is done in real time. It's done in an hour and they don't add anything to it or take anything away from it. The cooking period is absolutely... very, very rigidly enforced at 60 minutes. It takes about five hours to shoot an episode of Iron Chef. Because there's all that stuff with the introductions when the chefs walk in. They have to introduce the judges. They have to unveil the secret ingredient. So just from a production standpoint, it takes a little longer. But the cooking is exactly an hour. When you guys do it, do you do it at the same time each time you tape it? So do you always do it from noon to five? Is it noon to five every time or whatever it is? Actually, they do two shows a day. Two shows a day for a month, and that takes care of Iron Chef for the year. So it's a long day for the crew. And while nobody has any sympathy for the judges, if you're judging both episodes, that means you're eating like 20 courses of wonderfulness. Believe me, you don't order a pizza when you get home. I guess not. I've been a judge on Iron Chef and Top Chef, and Top Chef is really fun, but the food on Iron Chef is way, way better because you're getting chefs who are at the absolute top of their game. Mario Batali versus...
Even the challengers are always amazing. Tell us how you got there. What were the things that you were doing? You're living a dream thing, man. Who wouldn't want to be a judge on these shows? Mike's a foodie. I'm just glad we're on the radio because I now weigh 472 pounds. It was a really, it was, you know, Queer Eye opened a lot of doors for me. And when Queer Eye was at its absolute hottest, both of those, both Top Chef and Iron Chef asked me if I would be a guest judge. And then when Queer Eye, you know, disappeared, I suddenly found myself with more time on my hands. And both of those shows allowed me to appear in more and more episodes. And so that was, on the one hand, really fun from a food standpoint, because that's my passion. It was also great from a career point of view, because it kept me on television on two different networks without taking too much of my time. while I could find a show of my own. And now I have Food Detectives on Food Network and another show that's going to announce next week. You don't get paid a lot in cable TV, but it opens other doors and it allows you to publish books. And it does pay better than, you know, like I used to work for newspapers. It pays better than that. Right. So I'm very grateful for this because food is, I mean, what's better than food and wine? And where did you learn about it? Nothing.
Nothing. Sex. Rock and roll is really great. No, not for me. No? I'd rather eat. Look where you work, man. I don't care. Look at me. I'd rather eat. You've got to move me down the hall of the country station. So how did you get into it? How did you start to have this passion, love for food? Well, like a lot of kids, I cooked at mom, encouraged us to cook at home, simple stuff. And then I got a job at Chicago Magazine. in the mid-90s. Skye is guzzling your wine, by the way. I took a sip. Every time you take a breath, she is guzzling the wine down. Skye, you can put it in a glass. The thing from the bottle is just rude. You can take the bottle out of the bag. Classy, Skye. Real classy. I should explain that the reason we have wine is that I'm here for the San Diego Bay Food and Wine Festival, courtesy of Robert Modavi Private Selection Wines, and so we've naturally brought some wines to the studio because that's how we roll. I thought just one glass was fine. No, no, Mike.
Go ahead, just this once. You know, there are radio programs that shall go unmentioned where they encourage people to drink who shouldn't be drinking. Oh, really? That's weird. I'd never be on a show like that. I wouldn't either. I couldn't be a part of that. I got a little hole in mine or something. Oh, that's weird. We used to do a segment called Free Beer Friday. We don't do it anymore, but we used to do a segment called Free Beer Friday, and it was great. It caused a couple of issues. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like alcoholism. Yes. And then there was rehab. Yes. Other than that, it was a blast. But I do like to look at it, you know. Those were the fun years. No, those were not the fun years. But listen, this thing is huge, and I've been getting a lot of people telling me about it. I want to go out there, see the food. I can't necessarily drink the wine, but I'd like to go out there and see the food, and you guys are loving the wine, right? Yeah. And your friend Brian Malarkey will be down there as well. Oh, he's the best. And Richard Blaze. Casey, also Top Chef veterans. Very cool. Very cool. So, like, what is it? Just a bunch of different booths of wine and food, and you just cruise around and drink and eat all day? Yeah, it's a great opportunity to try new things, try different kinds of wines, because what I'm always telling people is that the only way you're going to learn anything about wine is to taste it and taste as many kinds of it as you possibly can and learn about how to pair it with food.
I'll be doing a couple of cooking demonstrations where I do a couple of my recipes and then talk about how our wines work with these foods. So I'm doing a pork tenderloin and a really nice grilled chicken dish. That is awesome. That sounds lovely. I was actually looking for a pork tenderloin recipe online, and I couldn't really find anything. I kind of gave up, so I would be interested in seeing what you were doing. What are you doing? What I'm doing is a pork tenderloin that's stuffed with goat cheese and poblano chilies. Hello. Yum. And it's really, really easy. Look at everybody. He's shaking their head like, yes. Can you make it right now? Do we have any pork? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We can run out and get one. You know how a pork tenderloin is a very ugly, you know, sort of long and skinny piece of meat? Oh, they just handed me the recipe. Oh, there you go. They just handed me the recipe. Yeah. That's awesome. I got the recipe. There you go. We should post it. We'll put it online. That's fantastic. And it's grilled, so guys can do it. Is it in your cookbook? Yes. Oh, perfect. Yeah, and I also want to let people know that Food Network airs Ted's show, The Food Detectives, Tuesday nights, 9 o'clock, and Thursdays at 8.30. I want to go back to Iron Chef America and ask you a couple questions about that because we all love Iron Chef America. Hey, you ever want to slap that Jeffrey Steingart in a rant?
That guy's something else. Jeffrey Steingarten knows more about food than most of us will forget in our lives, but he will never hesitate to tell you that. He's something else. Sounds like a fun guy to be around. He's a pompous ass, but he's a lovable. Can I say that on the radio? I think you just did. Send that FCC fine straight to my office. Oh, save that clip. Something unrelated happens, you get to vibe. That's right. You're like, I didn't do that. No, really? How about this? Yeah, Ted said he was taking care of it. So do you get to know those guys pretty good? Do you get to know the Mario Batales and the Bobby Flays because you're working around them, you get to know them? Because my thing would be, man, if you get to know them, wouldn't it be hard to say, sorry, didn't like yours better, and I like this guy's? That's a really, really insightful question, and that is the reason. Thank you, guys. Thank you. You're very insightful. Thank you. Now that I'm hosting. Other shows on Food Network, they won't let me judge Iron Chef anymore because of the concern. But even before I got my own show, I was judging almost more than half of the episodes for the year. So I'm going in there for 11 episodes, 12 episodes, and I do get to know Bobby and Mario and Kat, Morimoto less so, because he doesn't do as many. But actually, it's very important to me to pick the true winner. I'm very serious about this judging business in any.
food show or any capacity. You've got to respect the food. You've got to respect the chefs. I have so much respect for these people. So I'm not going to pick somebody because I know them or I like them. But when Mario Batali loses, he's pissed. Really? Yes, and he yells at producers. And I know this. When Mario Batali loses on Iron Chef, he goes to the producers and he says, I want to see those scorecards. I want to see who voted against me. I want to see what, why, whether it's taste or presentation. Is it from a desire to want to make it better, or he feels that he was maybe slighted or wronged? Well, probably both. He's a really serious competitor, and he generally does have a lot of confidence in what he's doing and believes that it's probably great, and it is. Fortunately, Mario doesn't lose very often, but the upshot of this is when they first told me that I wasn't going to be allowed to judge Iron Chef anymore because I had my own show, I was really mad, and I was really bummed because I love Iron Chef. But looking back at it now, from this perspective, they're right. Do you remember, is there a very memorable dish that you've tasted on Iron Chef America that you went, man, that was good? Yes. What? Back to Mario. Every time you judge Iron Chef, when you first walk in, they hand you a piece of paper that tells you what the secret ingredient is, and it gives you some background research on it, so you'll have some things to talk about if you don't know about it. I walk in one day, they hand me...
They tell me, well, it's Mario Batali versus Andrew Carmelini, another Italian chef in New York, great chef. And the secret ingredient is Parmesan. Wow, I remember that episode. What do you think is going to happen in Mario Batali's brain when he is handed the king of Italian cheeses and he's told to cook like his life depends on it? It was the best battle I've ever judged. And Mario made a dish. Mario did a spaghetti carbonara, which he... He took an entire wheel of Parmesan cheese and hollowed it out to make a bowl. A bowl. A wheel of Parmesan is worth like $1,000. Oh, my God. Oh, wow. He then tossed his spaghetti carbonara inside this Parmesan bowl, absorbing the taste of the cheese. That's pretty cool. I mean, the theatricality of that. Yeah, yeah. See, now that is, to some people, now if we were talking to my wife, she would hear that and go, wow, that's really interesting. But to somebody like me, You know, to somebody like me and somebody like you and all of us in this room, because we're foodies, that is awesome. That is so awesome. Yeah, that's pretty cool. Now, on the opposite end, you ever get a dish where you're like, wow. Okay, yeah, actually, and so I can be fair, a dish that I had on Iron Chef that I did not like also came from Mario Batali, and this is very rare. It's very rare that anything on that show isn't great. He did a langoustine, which is like a small lobster. Right. He served a dish that contained a barely cooked...
Purposefully. Yes. When a lobster is not cooked, it's really kind of gelatinous and gooey and just... I've had that one time. I actually, in Dallas, Texas, I went to what was supposed to be a really nice seafood place and I ordered lobster and it was like that. Personally, I want my lobster not overcooked, but I want it cooked. Firm. So that dish just grossed me out. It's slimy. What did you say? I was polite. How did you say it? Of course. I'm sure I just said, you know, what I basically just said, that for me, I'm sorry, but I need my lobster to be cooked. And did he look at you like you're an idiot and don't know what you're talking about, and that's the best way to make lobster, and any fool should know that. He looked at me like, you know all those great restaurants I own in New York City where people clamor to get a table, and maybe you might one day be one of those people clamoring to get a table? Mario. No, Mario's a perfect gentleman. All right, Ted Allen is in the studio, and okay, so Ted. You got friends coming into Manhattan and they say, listen, I don't have a favorite type of food. I just want you to tell me what place should I go eat that's going to blow me away. And I said it that way because I knew your next question would be like, what type of food are we talking? Because you get the same question because you're a foodie too. Sure. Well, maybe you do this too because you have, I'm sure you have chefs come in here once in a while. You have guests from restaurants.
It changes for me. But one of the nicest things about being in a media business job where you do meet all these great chefs, every time I meet a chef, I get his card and I get his cell phone number. Nice. And I go eat at his restaurant or her restaurant. And this is, in New York in particular, it's... Getting a reservation is often difficult, especially on a Saturday. It's very helpful if you have the chef's cell phone number when you want a reservation. But also, they appreciate it just as they would appreciate it if you came in. Because you have a show and they like to see you represent in their restaurant. So it really works. Both ways. So what I would probably say to you right now, the chef I'm loving right now in Manhattan is a woman named Alex Guernaschelli, who also has a Food Network show and who also participated in one of my shows. She's the chef at a restaurant called Butter. And that's probably where I would send you right now. And I was, you know, you said that. And as soon as you said it, I was like, I know I've heard that. I know I've heard that. So is there a buzz going on with that restaurant in New York right now?
Well, it's not a brand new restaurant, but there's a buzz around Alex because she has a new show on Food Network called The Cooking Loft. It's a Saturday morning instructional show. That may have been it. That may have been where I heard it. Yeah, well, I know nothing about food and I've heard of butter. I think just from like celebrities have eaten there and you see it in People magazine. Oh, yeah. One of their marketing things they do at their restaurant is they have this. This herd of models that comes and eats there at, like, 11 p.m. They don't really eat, of course. Oh, right. They look at food. The last time I ate there last week, this herd of models, they're like giraffes. They're all, like, nine feet tall, and they all walk. It's like Howie Mandela's bringing them down. Yes, exactly. They walk like models, you know, like runway models. They're all, like, doing the strut. Right. It was the strangest, like, it was like this herd of exotic. animals coming in. And what kind of food? What's the food like that? I think the model diet is like Tic Tacs and Marlboro Lights. I don't think they really eat, but they bring them in there for the glamour factor. And then the people that own the restaurant, I think they also own a nightclub. So they start out the restaurant and they go to the nightclub. Makes sense. So what's the food there? What do you like to get when you're there? Wow. I had a venison, a rack of venison. And Alex came out to talk to us before she...
cooked, and I said, should I get the visit? Look at Skye. No way in the world. She's never had it. She's just so picky. She's never had it, but she's one of these people that go... It just grosses them out, the thought of it. I've seen Bambi, Ted. So I'm good. So I'm good. Let me tell you something. She's seen Charlotte's Web. This girl can eat her some ham. She likes what she likes. That's all I'm telling you. Yeah, so it's only the cute animals that you don't want to eat. As long as they're ugly, it's okay. I don't think we need to analyze it. You're in town to do the San Diego Food and Wine Festival. My favorite restaurant in San Diego is a foodie. My favorite restaurant is a place called Pamplemousse. And if you get a chance, go down there. It's on Via Dol Valle. It's in Del Mar. And that food is... And the dude came from Manhattan. The guy that owns it, Jeffrey Strauss, came from Manhattan. And it's one of these, is it Zagat or Zagat? It's Zagat. Zagat. He's one of these every year. Zagat. Zagat. Every year he is in that deal. And if you get a chance, I don't know how long you're here, but check that place out, man. I'm going to write that down. That sounds great. Pamplemousse is good, good stuff. Truffle fries.
Now, since we're here talking wine and food, do you want to do our little taste test? Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys do it. Let's see what you're doing here. What are we doing? First of all, they got their wine in red plastic party cups. I want to apologize for the plastic cups because we used them. We better wine! Peanut Noir? He needs more. Peanut Noir? Is this a scene I should recognize? No, definitely not. It's from a TV show that is on Comedy Central at 4 o'clock in the morning. Oh, okay, okay. So what we do, this is something that I do. I've been traveling around the country, going to food festivals, wine festivals, doing a very, very basic introduction to food and wine pairing. And I know even just saying that, people are like, oh, God, too complicated. But it's really not. And I just want to show you one little part of it. So what we have in the studio is we have little pieces of cooked... Plain cooked chicken breast. And then we have lemon wedges. Okay. And we have a little glass of Chardonnay. Okay. Or a big glass. Whatever. Actually, it's a 16-ounce plastic tumble. By the way, I have to point this out. So they do a little pour for Sky and Ted and Eddie. Mike, come on. And Eddie goes... A little decorum here, buddy. What? This is off the air during commercials. Eddie goes...
Hey, Ted, it's kind of a light pour here. Hey, listen, I'm of age. Let's go. Let's do this. Yeah, and it's like, it's 10.15 now. I mean, come on, everyone's having some wine. Usually I'm wasted by now. So the lady that had the wine is like, well, I was kind of just pouring for you guys to taste it. Sorry. Yeah, can I get some more of that? Okay, so what are you going to do? Sorry. He doesn't want to let that Percocet go to waste. That's right. Okay, so the way this seminar works is I don't want to tell people what wine to have with what food. It's much better if you can figure it out for yourself by tasting food and seeing which wine goes with it better. So why don't you take a little bite of that plain chicken, just plain chicken, and then this is the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay, which is a wine that's familiar to most of us. They're both taking a bite. So you took a little bite of the chicken. Now taste the wine.
Think about how well, you know, does that go nicely with the chicken? Does it complement it or whatnot? Sky's like... Very much so. Can't tell anything, but go ahead. But I'll pretend. Okay. I have a very advanced palate. Sky's an Epicurean, just so you know. She really isn't... I don't know what that means. I thought she was a Sagittarius, but whatever. And then, okay, now step two, take a piece of chicken. Yeah. And then squeeze some of the lemon juice onto the chicken and take a bite of that. The lemon smells delish. It does, doesn't it? Lemon. Lemon. Lemon. Okay. Okay, and now taste the Chardonnay again. And tell me, which of those two combinations went better? Yes, still Chardonnay. And just whatever you think, the right answer is whatever you think. Sky had just looked at Eddie. Like, what do I say? What do I say? And Eddie looked at Sky like, what do I say? I like the version with the wine the best. Thank you. Oh, this is so advanced.
Hey, guys. Now, this time, try it with a slice of pizza. A slice of cold sausage pizza. Yes. I think I like the lemon better. Okay, you're wrong. But that's all right. But I thought there was no wrong answer, Jen. I like just the plain chicken. Excellent job. You're a jerk. You're a jerk. I have a very advanced color. Have you heard? I have something called a moronic palate. I like lemon. And if you like it, that's totally cool. But you said it was wrong. You shamed me. It makes you dumb, but... Go ahead. You're like a hobo, but anyway. It's kind of like when you're in TV and they say, yeah, that take was great. Now let's do it again. Oh, shoot. Actually, you know what? It's pretty close. There's nothing wrong with having Chardonnay with lemon chicken. Yeah, you know, if you ride in the back of a caboose to get from place. Hey. But you guys are making this seminar really difficult. I'm sorry. She's drunk right now. We're very professional.
Sorry. I think we've all learned a lot. Explain this, Ted. Why am I the worst, Ted? Explain it. It's very simple. The plain chicken works best with the plain Chardonnay. When you add the lemon to the chicken, it kind of makes the Chardonnay taste overly sweet and bland. Oh, I like sweet things. Do you have a Bartles and James? You should drink what you like. So that's, you should drink what you like. And a straw. Do you have any in a box? Perhaps over ice. That's great. Can I get a refill? The bottle is empty over here, Anne. I'm going to let this breathe a little. What happened? Do you have any shampoo?
Does anyone have any sunny delighted champagne? Yeah, it is getting a little warm. I'm warm in here. I get it, Ted. It made sense to me. Ted Allen is a star of the Food Network show Food Detectives. And he's also written the book. So, I mean, did you just throw the lemon in to make me look dumb? No, Skye. He explained. He explained. He explained. He threw me off. Don't worry. Actually, Skye. I'm picking up some lemony notes in that Chardonnay. I think maybe you made the right call. Yes, Scott. Scott, you're brilliant. Thank you. The Food You Want to Eat, 100 Smart Simple Recipes is the name of his book, which I want to get, man, because that sounds really cool. It sounds like you can do some easy stuff with it. There's actually like 117 recipes in there. It just didn't look right on the cover. Yeah, it didn't sound as good. And let's see. He's going to be out at the... Food and Wine, the San Diego Food and Wine Festival this weekend at the Macy's Cooking School. And it's going to be really cool. Yeah, where is that? What is that? That's today at 3. The Macy's Cooking School is next to where the, right across the street from where the festival itself is, which is, is that Embarcadero? I think so. Am I getting that right? Somebody sent me a link. Oh, that's beautiful. That is correct. With the weather this weekend.
And then tonight I'm on one of the hornblower ships for the yachts for the reserve tasting. Oh, that's fun. Who is that voice? That's fine. Hi. Do you have wine? Yeah. You should work in radio. That's my mom. That's her mom. I know you thought that was a Muppet. Don't get confused. I'd be in there, but I have the flu, so they make me stay in here. Who needs schizophrenia when I have you guys? Our San Francisco guy, our sound effects guy is in San Francisco. We see him on a camera, so all the sound effects you hear, the guy's not in the room playing them. And that way nobody can kick his butt if they get mad at him. That's true. It happens a lot. That's great. Do we have more wine? It's not even 10.30 yet. You're just lucky I don't have a glass in front of me. Ted Allen. That's awesome, man. Thank you so much, dude. Awesome. Thanks for having me. You guys are a blast. I hope people go out and see you this weekend at the Food and Wine Festival and we'll be watching the show. The show is...
Food Detectives, and it airs on Food Network Tuesdays at 9 and Thursdays at 8.30. It was a pleasure to meet you, man. That was very cool. Thank you. Great to be with you. Thank you so much. That's cool. And we can do our regular stuff, right? We're going to be wrapping up here in a minute. Wrap her up. Let's see. What did I miss? Somebody wrote and said that we don't talk about The Office anymore, and they were upset about it. Oh. And so at some point, I want to play The Office Drops. Because we haven't heard from it for a while. It was actually a very funny episode last night. It was good. I liked it. You want to hear Andy drunk dial Angela? This was the best. This was the best. Cut 30. I'd like to know what's wrong with her. I should call her and ask her. What is wrong with her? Do it. It's a caller. Oh my God, don't call her. It's too late. It's too late. It's silent. Now it's ringing. You? Why would you do it? That's Oscar, and he wants to know why you won't do me, and I think it's a valid question. Are you? This is Annie Bernard. I know this is. I want to take you to sex school. What? Who is that? Is somebody there? I have needs. We will discuss this later. Naked. What? We'll discuss it later. Naked. I want to see you naked. I'm Annie Bernard. I'm Annie Bernard.
It was a great episode. They sent Michael, Andy, and Oscar to a seminar or something. They were on a sales call in Canada. The three of them together, it was great. I wonder if Michael made some gay jokes. I think he probably did. There is speculation that Jessica Simpson did not attend the CMAs because it was hosted by Carrie Underwood. That's the speculation. Yeah, well, Carrie Underwood used to date Tony Romo, who's now Jessica Simpson's love. And, you know, Jessica Simpson is trying to launch this big old career in country music. And Eddie stopped cradling the wine bottle. Eddie's now cradling the wine bottle. Yeah, so people are wondering, did Jessica Simpson stay away because, you know, she didn't want to deal with it? Or was Jessica Simpson banned from the CMAs? We don't know, but drama, drama, drama. Did I talk about the astronomers and the planets? Did I already go through that? Yeah, I already did that, right? What did we say? What did we say? What did we say? That there were new planets photographed outside of our solar system, and they were really groovy, and you can see the pictures on news websites. Oh, yeah. In North Carolina, a town reached a settlement in a dirty dancing case. Yeah, dude. This is crazy. What is this, Footloose? Yeah. Seriously.
I guess this all started eight years ago. Baby. Yeah, her name is Baby, and she could not sit in the corner. Right. Thank you. So it was about eight years ago. At the time, the woman was 56 years old, and she would go to this, like, community hangout where people would dance and stuff, and people thought she danced obscenely. They said she would gyrate. Simulates sex with her partner while dancing. And was wearing a skirt that was so short that it exposed her fundies. So they kicked her out. Is she reading a book at the bar? That's right. So they kicked her out of this community center. I heard she had her camera and purse stolen. What's up? It's the wine. Don't blame it on that. So they kicked her out and told her she wasn't allowed to come back. And she was like, this is a community center. This is illegal. So they took it to court and the town decided to settle with her and has paid her $275,000 for banning her.
I won't go to the community dance for 300 grand. Yeah. Thank you. How about we all don't go? We'll make it a million. Right. So I think she made out on that deal. 570-1053 is our phone number. Stop throwing stuff, you clown. And you can give us a call right now, beginning and end of every show. We do an open phone segment, and you can call in about anything you want. And a couple of things to plug. Yeah, we got a few things to plug, so I'll get to it in just a second. Monday show, don't forget, we're going to have that weekend worry wart update. So you're going to find out. It's freezing. I know, dude. Yeah. Crazy once today. We had a dude call in, said that he was going to tell his Muslim mother that his white girlfriend was pregnant. Oh, my. There's another guy. That's not funny. Not funny. Wait a minute, Terry Bradshaw. Is that funny? That's not funny. All right, fine. And also on Weekend Worry War, we're going to be catching up with a 19-year-old guy who said that his mother didn't know that he was married to a 40-year-old. And, oh, yeah, they're having a baby. So he was going to tell her this weekend. So that's all coming up on Monday, so make sure you're listening to it. 570-1053. Mikey Show, hello. Yeah, I was calling to do a little story for Sean. Go ahead. Yeah, I was going to tell him the other day I went to my brother's house, and he actually happened to have every single one of those cowboy cooking shows on TiVo. Really? Oh, nice. No way. So I wanted to let him know that he is not alone. There you go.
I didn't know that people actually TiVo'd that cowboy. What is it called? It's called Cowboy Flavor, Mike. It's on the RFD network. You can see it five times a week. You're shouting at everyone. And apparently we'll see you there. Make some wine, Sean. It mellows you out, bro. Wow. Hey, Mike, can I plug where I'm going to be this weekend? Yes, you can. Awesome. I'm going to be watching some college football tomorrow, Saturday. I just want to let people know that. He's going to be watching at my house. I'm going to have Doritos and Ruffles with the Ridges. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He is chugging out of the bottle now. Tomorrow from 5 to 6.45 at Trophies in Mission Valley. So come hang out with me. I'll have some cool swag to give away. And that's Trophies at 5 o'clock. Cool. Be there. Hey, Ash, your friend is here, and you wanted to let her plug something, too, right? Yes, Emery. Have you met Emery? Yes, I have. Where's Emery? She's a wonderful lady. I met her today. Make sure you talk real close to the mic, Emery.
This is my sweet friend, Anne-Marie. She is doing this huge fundraiser, and she'll tell you all about it, but she's really passionate about it, and it's for a really great cause, and I'm buying a new dress tomorrow, and I'm going to go to it. It's a really big deal. What is it, Anne-Marie? What it is is that the Hilton family of hotels got together and we're doing a big fundraising gala for the San Diego Food Bank. Just because of the alarming numbers here in San Diego County. Tell them the stats, Ann Marie. That's crazy. There's 480,000 people in San Diego County that go hungry every night. 181,000 of those are kids under the age of 12. Here in the county? It's here in San Diego County, so it's in our backyard. Sorry, more uplifting. So what we're doing... Just drink that more. Just drink more. So what we're doing is... Mike, do you have to do a testimony today? I'm having a good time, man. Listen, come on, man. Let's talk about the fun years. Okay, sorry, Anne-Marie, our bad. What's going on? That is a good cause, for sure.
What we're doing is we're doing a huge gala at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines where we have all of the executive chefs from all the Hilton hotels around here doing food stations of all different cuisine from Italian to things from Spain, just huge international focus. What about Ethiopian? Do they have it? I don't know about that, but maybe we can. Because it's dirt. That's what they serve there. Put down the wine bottle, will you? So how do people go? Anybody can go? Anybody can go. You can buy a table or you can buy tickets to go to this. You can log on the website. It's www.hungerathome.com. Hungerathome.com. Yes. All right. What we can do is you can buy a ticket to go. It's $250 per ticket. But if you look at it this way, every dollar we bring in is really three meals that is produced at the food bank for people. That's awesome. So you can look at your ticket as being 750 meals that you're providing. That's awesome. So it's really such a great cause. I'm sorry. Look at you. You made her cry. Wow. I guess this guy's getting really emotional. Are you okay? Yeah.
It's either that or Eddie's making her laugh. Not during this kind of a segment, Mike. Well, it's either that or Sky and Eddie have had a couple of glasses of wine. Are you crying because we're out? We have wine at the fundraiser. I'm buying a ticket right now. I don't care if it's $500. Is it unlimited? All the food and wine you can eat and drink. Let's go in together. One ticket. I'll carry you in my pocket. And we said she'd get us all a table with our spouses if we were interested in going. She would let us all come. For real? For real. If you guys want to go, she'd hook it up. Dude, that's awesome. That's awesome. There's mine. Open bar. Hey, Anne-Marie, give the website out. I will. It's www.hungerathome.com. If you go to that, you can see the information to buy tickets, purchase a table. We have a ton of donated items for the silent and live auction. Just trips to Europe. We're even on the edge of getting an English bulldog puppy. It's so cute.
We have surf lessons. I mean, just a wide variety. And, of course, all these Hilton hotels that are all over the world have donated stays. Go green. Very cool. There's just a lot of really cool things there. And it's next Saturday, right? Next Friday. Next Friday. November 21st. Hey, let her do the play. She's much better at it. I think she knows what she's doing, all right? Hungerathome.com, P.W. And I got one, too. Oh, look at you. Did you have another one, Rob? Do you have another one? No. Okay. Well, I said tomorrow I'm going to be out, right? Trophies? Yeah. High five? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Then no. Okay. And here's mine. I am going to be emceeing the third day show. Oh, the ones and twos? That's right. Oh. I'm going to be emceeing the third day show that is going to be happening at the Rock Church. And it is on December 6th. And you can get tickets by going to milesahead.com. M-I-L-E-S-H-A-H-E-A-D. Milesahead.com. And you can order your tickets there. They're between $30 and $50. I'll be emceeing. And what's a real trip about it is Third Day being as big of a band as they are in that venue. And it's pretty cool. And it's going to be a lot of fun. So I'd love to have people come out and check it out. Again, Saturday, December the 6th, I will be there emceeing this thing. And the concert is at 7.
It's going to be very cool, and we'd love to have you out there. Cheers. There you go. Mikey Show. Hey, what up, guys? How's it going? This is P1 Try One. What's up? How's it going, everyone? Good, man. What's up? I have an important question for Sky. Sorry to interrupt you. Sky? Yes, go ahead. Hey, how long is the line for those hams? Hello? Sorry. Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? Yeah, I know. I wasn't sure that was the punchline or not. That was the punchline of the thing. How long is the line for those hams was the punchline? I think so. That was a good one. That was a good one. Great show today. Thank you. I just wanted to say, have a good one. And that was just B-Rob. All right, thank you. A-O is on the line. A-O. What's up, A-O? Hey, check it out. Homeboy made me hungry, so, you know, tonight's dinner, I'm headed to Olive Garden. And I wanted to give you a little quick update, you know, on what happened to me today. What happened? Typically, you know, we play football on the street and all of that. Oh, yes. So there's this dog that's in the yard, you know, barking at me, and I, you know, bad karma, I tend to give it the finger, you know, throw a little curse words at it and all of that. And so today, the ball went in the backyard, so I went to the lady's backyard and whatnot.
She used to say the dog kicked down the fence and came after me barking, homie. And I was like, for real, for real. I would have paid to see that. Oh, dude, can you imagine the video of that? Well, I'm serious. And the dog was like the dog from Cujo. And this little handicapped woman came out and got her dog back. And I'm sitting there screaming like a little 12-year-old girl. That's quite a story, Ayo. You need to. Shut up, Ash. Anyway. Oh, hey. Before I roll out, I just want to let everybody know. Is it okay if I let somebody know something real quick, Mike? Sure. He's going to give his plug. Appreciate that, brother. Where are you going to be? Yeah, we'll be making an appearance tomorrow from 1 to 2. Divide Possibilities. Be there or be square. You're nuts. You're out of your mind. That's awesome. P1 Townie. Yeah. Hey, how are you guys doing? Good. Well, I know you guys are already done with the sports villain. Movie deal? Uh-huh. But I had one more legitimate guess. Okay. I say Mr. Sky in Silence of the Gophers. Is that in there, Sky? Can you at least check the list just to humor him? I don't know. Maybe it's there. I don't know. I will not go on the board. I'm sorry. Thank you. P1 Hall of Famer, Quimby is on the line. Hey, Quim. Oh, hey, Quimby. Hey, Quimby.
Oh, hey, guys. My wonderful boyfriend, he took me out to dinner at Benihana the other night. Oh, so good. So good, Quinn. And I must suggest to Rob for his birthday dinner. If you haven't been before, please give it a try for your birthday dinner. The second they put that garlic butter on the rice. Forget about it. I forget about it. All right. How many times? We've been telling you that forever, Rob. When you get through your family. That's right. Well, it's a different thing. I don't know. It's a different thing, but I'm not entirely sure. Today was a very cool day hanging out in the studio. And I got to tell you, man, today is one of those. Every once in a while, I have a feeling of not necessarily having my testimony be. the real sort of serious and more dramatic way of telling it. Cause today was so fun and we were having a good time and we are having a good time that I just want to tell you, man, I'm really stoked. I'm really stoked to be here with my friends. So inappropriate. I mean, right now, right now. Hey, I gotta tell you for real, man. I mean, there is a, there, there's something really real in that.
There's something really real in that. The truth is that my past is all about addiction. And it was a kind of addiction where I wasn't able to have a good time unless I was drinking. But it wasn't just that, man. I have had, like we joke about a lot of the stuff that has happened in my life. And I'm glad that I can. While it was going on, it was a lot different story. And so I'm glad that I am where I am now. Because there was a time, man, where I really thought that I wasn't going to make it. And I just kind of look back on it now and say, I am so glad that I get to hang with my friends in the way that I get to hang with my friends now. It is a completely, totally different life that I'm living. And I am a born again Christian. And what that means is that my life is, my life today is like I was born completely new. The person that I am today is completely different than the person that I used to be. And it's only because I've had Christ come into my life and change who I am. The reason that I mention it to you on Fridays is because I know that there are people that are listening right now that are not in that place. They're in a place where they're still in addiction or they're in a place where they're still, maybe they've lost somebody.
Or maybe something really, really huge has happened in their life with money that's made you feel hopeless. And that's why I tell you this story about me. Because I was just as hopeless as you. And I let that power of Jesus Christ come into my life and change my life. And things are a lot different today than they used to be. I'll tell you something, man. I would not be on the radio today if it weren't for that happening. I wouldn't be on the radio today. I wouldn't have a wife. I wouldn't have a kid. I wouldn't have any of the things that I have today if not for that force coming into my life and changing me and changing who I am and giving me love for people that I never could have had on my own. And all it was was me putting belief and action together. Get into faith. That's all it was. And to stop believing things about myself that weren't true. Things like
It'll never get better. That just wasn't true. Putting your faith in Jesus Christ. If you go to my website, MikeyShow.com, there's a keyword section.
